You can listen live on iHeart app, searching FSR or
Fox Sports Radio. Search up on Game whenever you get

(01:08):
If you love something we say, you can tweet us
at LeVar Arrington, at Who's Shady for at Plexico Barison
at Fox Sports Radio. We believe we have a great
show plan for it's a lot football. His finally started,
all man, I don't think people understand the moment when
Bath the NBA Finals ends, it feels like there's nothing

(01:30):
on television. So we finally got to the Hall of
Fame games. So now we're gonna have football every week.
So that's a great thing. But oh, I don't know
if it's a great thing for the Cowboys. It what
was going on with Michael Parsons Scary Terry wants out,
Michael Parson wants out, Travis Hunter. He went both ways
in the scrimmage and actually did very well. Hey, what

(01:52):
we're gonna call Luca. We'll wait for that. The second
half will cuss. But before we get going, maning said
mister Burris. Man, how y'all doing, Man, how y'all doing?

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Oh man, I'm just relaxing.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Man. It's a beautiful Saturday, man. The sun's out, not
a cloud in the scot you know, not quite like California,
but very nice.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
It's very nice Saturday, man. And football is back, just
like you said, And it's our favorite time of the year.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
Everybody's everybody's undefeated. A lot of things going on with
every team in training camping. Hey, man, I love it, man,
favorite time of the year. Hey, plex It's so funny.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Man, I went to eat yesterday, right, And a gentleman
listens to our sure every Saturday. I'm sure he's listening
right now, and he's every time we do our little
weather forecast, right, He's like, yeah, Plexico is always like, well,
we got.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
A little snow, a little rain.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
It's a little cold out here.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Man, you know how it is on the East coast, Man,
they can get tricky. It was your degrees for like
three or four days in a row, and then we
had some crazy rain to drop down into the sixties.
It was like sixty five yesterday and it's back to
like ninety five degrees.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
Man, it's just all over the place.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Miss Stings And man, where are you at you on
the beach today? Each you know, all that money to
go somewhere else. I'm at State College. The crazy thing
is I was going to do the show remotely.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
On my uh my my mobile device, and my my
adapter is broken. So the beauty of being back in
State College is there's no traffic, so I was able
to run to the football building and get to the
football building and plug up and do the show from here.
So that was quite a uh, that was quite a

(03:52):
deal that just took place.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
But yes, I still can't do it though.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Hey listen, I'm in no good shape, but I still
can run like That's that's what I found out today.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
I still got a little bit in me. Doc.

Speaker 5 (04:04):
I don't think I can run anybody down, but I
think I could run away from somebody, you know what
I mean, Like, I just got to be faster than
the slowest person.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
So yeah, I'm good man.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
I actually I actually think that, you know, you being
back in State college, you know, kind of bought back
a lot of those memories when you were, you know,
attend to eighteen nineteen.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Year old tender.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
It had to put a little drinling in you. Man.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
I'll tell you this, I haven't seen man Man practice
as a Penn State Nyitney line yet. So soon as
the show is over, I'm running out to practice, and
I'm gonna get to see my baby practice.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
For That's what I was just about to say. It's
almost about to be probably watching hopefully a more athletic
version than of yourself, because you guys built very similar.
I don't know when I you, I think you're probably
a lot heavier in high school. But that boy can huge, Paul.
If he is, he put on some weight.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
He's like two twenty two, two twenty three right now. Man,
that's that's about That's about the size I was when
I got here. But I was that size when I
got here, and I was a year older than him.
I was nineteen when I got to college. He just
turned eighteen. So yeah, man, And he's he's fast, you know,
that's the thing. He's like, he's he's big, but dude

(05:21):
is fast. So I'm excited to see it.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Man.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
We've been up here. I've been working on Ror Plus.
You know, it just launched for Penn State, and I'm
super excited about that. We were doing a lot of interviews.
You know, we got dope wrestling program. So I just
just won the wrestle in the country. Yeah, I mean, dope, bro.
Our coach Cal Sanderson is is like he he wrestled there,
didn't already wrestled well, he wrestled at Iowa State Iowa

(05:45):
and Wait and went undefeated, like unbeaten his whole entire
college career.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
No one ever beat him.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Right.

Speaker 5 (05:56):
So now he got everybody you know, beating up on it.
Everybody here. You know, you remember the quote you know
where where bo Nicholas? They asked him, you know why
you come to Penn State? This is why you come
to Penn State to win championships, like like talking about
wrestling here. But so I I told him I was
going to dish him his first al you know, in
his life, you know what I mean. And he was

(06:17):
looking at me all weird, just like y'all sitting here,
thinking like, well, what what what?

Speaker 1 (06:21):
What'm gonna do to give him an L?

Speaker 5 (06:23):
I challenged him to paper rock scissors, best out of three,
and uh yeah, we were playing mind games with one another.
He tried to convince me that you know, oh you're
you're stuck on rock. You you're you know, you're all
in on this whole rock thing. And he was right.
I ended up getting him. It took it, took four
gos at it, but I ended up winning two to one.

(06:45):
There was a tie at one point, so it was
two to one one and uh I dished u Kale
his first L.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Man.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
I I'm really proud of myself.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
I can an emotional high ever since, and Uh yeah,
So that's that's where I've been having a good time
since I've been back in PA.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Man Man well, speaking of p A and a PA legend,
a Nitney Lyon legend. Oh yeah, MICHAEH. Parsons and he
bided his time. He gave the Cowboys every opportunity to
get something done, and he set up and he released

(07:22):
a statement. In the gist of it, I want to
be traded. There's so much to unpack with this. Uh
what do the Cowboys do? Where do they go? Do
they grant his trade request? Is it the right move
for Micah? Let's unpack it. Uh? What do we make
of this? Go ahead? Plex Man?

Speaker 4 (07:46):
You know what?

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Uh well, we always talk about these teams that just
just go out there and give give you a players
what they deserve. And if they would got this deal
done with Michael Man, you know, three or four months ago,
they probably would have saved themselves fifteen to twenty million
dollars versus you know what has happened or transpot in

(08:10):
the last couple of weeks, especially with the T. J.
Watt Dill and Miles Garrett, Max Crosby, all these guys
getting paid and now you find yourself in a situation
where probably your best player on your football team no
longer wants to be a part of this organization. And
we've seen this several times, man, happen with the Cowboys
with Stephen Jones and Jerry Jones. They just from the

(08:31):
business standpoint, they just don't, you know, do business traditionally
as a lot of these other teams do. And now
you have a young man that wanted to be a
part of your team and now he no longer wants
to be there. If you're the Dallas Cowboys, and if
you don't have a Michael Parsons on your team or
on the field and on your roster, you don't even

(08:53):
have a chance to win the Super Bowl without them.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
You won't win it with them anyway.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
But with him being on the team, you don't even
have a chance to really go out there and compete
to win the World Championship. You might be able to
sneak into the playoffs, but as far as not have
him on the team, Man, I just don't understand what
Jared Jones in this organization is doing.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
Man.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Obviously, he's one of the top five, you know, defenders
in this league, and he wants to be compensated. Listen,
he's a very intelligent young man. He's very knowledgeable about
what's going on around him as far as you know
how much these guys are being paid and what he's worth,
and he actually has all the leverage in this situation.

(09:41):
And if now, if you're Dallas Cowboys, you never wanted
to trade him, But now all these distractions are being
created because now you got all these teams probably called them.
Then listen, we'll give up a kings Ransom to add
a Michael Parsons to our defense. And now now they
have to deal with that whole aspect of it. And

(10:02):
now you know he doesn't want to be there. He's
not happy, and I just don't understand why, you know,
Jerry Jones and they conduct their business way they do.
Even Cde Lamb just came out and said, listen, we
don't need all these distractions. Just pay the man what
he's worth and put all of this behind you and
move forward. But for right now, with him not being

(10:24):
on the team, not being on the field, man, it's
just one of those situations where it's not good Bruh
shot at Shatnhaml. It's just one of those things with
Dallas Cowboys. Every single year we get to a point
to where what in the hell all the Cowboys doing?

Speaker 5 (10:42):
Yeah, that's why I'm thinking, what are they doing? And
I just I wonder. I'm hoping for Micah's sake and
I'm hoping for fans of football sake that this is
just the standard, you know, par for the course type
of situation where if you don't get a contract at
a certain time, then it's just par for the course.

(11:03):
You have to put out there as a negotiation tactic.
As we'll talk about McLaurin as well, you got to
say I want to be traded. And it's almost like
you got to say, listen, if you don't want to
pay me, and you don't want to pay me what
I'm worth and the value that I'm supposed to have,
then you know I don't need to be here. And
I like TJ in this situation, I'm hoping that that's

(11:27):
just what this is. I hate that it does damage right,
like you're doing this for business and negotiation purposes. When
these things happen, it always it never fails. The player
is always painted as this disgruntle, this diva, this bad person.

(11:49):
It's crazy to me how much people talk bad about
a player when they say they want to be traded
if the team doesn't do the deal, and it does
damage whether they get the deal done or not.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
I feel like, when.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
You're pushed to this situation or to this limit, it's
doing you know, damage that can't you can't go back,
and it's out there now, Like at one point in time,
Mike could request it to be traded from the team.
That damages his reputation with the fan base. So I
hope that they get the deal done. I believe they'll
get the deal done. I can't see them letting him go.

(12:28):
He's too good. He's like the he is the best defense,
he's arguably the best, debatable the best defensive player in
the league. But what's not debatable is he's the youngest
best defensive player in the league.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Why would you want to let that go. I don't
get that. This isn't new for the Cowboys. They dragged
their feet. This is what the Cowboys do. They dragged
their feet. They did it with Ezekiel Elliott, they did
it with Dak Prescott, they did it with CD Lamb.
The difference is Ezekiel Elliott. He didn't report to training camp,

(13:02):
Dak did, Ceedee Lamb didn't. They were all able to
get something done. But this is what the Cowboys need
to understand. I don't care what happens moving forward. The
relationship will never be the same because when you do
this to a player, you piss them off. And if
and when, and I also I agree with you, got
a deal will be signed. They're not trading Michael Parsons.

(13:23):
He's too good and too young. But the relationship will
never be the same. You call Michael Parsons into the
office to talk about leadership because he put it all
out there, and then we start talking contract and you
really believe we have a contract done without my agent president.

(13:44):
The fact that they haven't reached out to his agent,
that's disrespect that's alarming. That's very disrespectful. And when you're
a young player, it makes you feel a certain type
of way about that because you see that Max Crosby
was paid, You see that Miles Garrett was paid after

(14:06):
requesting the trade. You see that DJ Watt was paid
and I can't get paid, So that makes you feel
a certain type of way. But this is what Jerry
Jones and the Cowboys like to do. They like to
do these things, but I hope they understand they're pissing

(14:29):
their players off along the way, and you never get
over that. That relationship will never be the same. You
can no longer call me in office and talk to
me and think the conversation is going to be smooth. First,
every year the Cowboys have something going on, and every
year they underachieve. Twenty twenty five, twenty six season will

(14:52):
be no different. The Cowboys probably they're probably gonna finish
the last in the division. Bro, I'm saying that they
probably gonna be lasting the division behind the New York Giants.
And so Michael Parsons is going to get paid the
way they are going about it, I don't understand. I
really believe I can be a great gym. I think

(15:13):
I just look like this. Tell them to you, you
have to lock up your core players a year early,
because then you end up paying unless you they they'll
be overpaid for one year. They'll be overpaid for one year,
and these salaries are skyrocketing, right, and then you're like, oh, wow,
that was a great deal. I don't understand what the

(15:35):
Cowboys are doing. I don't understand why they're doing this,
but I wish them the best. Michael Parsons, we wish
them the best. As Levars in State College Trailblazer, as
LeVar would always say, anybody that follows LaVar on Instagram,
stick City is a place, the place, It's a place,

(16:00):
and so you wish Michael Parson is the best man
the Cowboys another year. Another problem, and this is the
biggest problem because of what LeVar said earlier. Not only
is he one of the best defensive players, he's by
far the youngest defensive player that we would consider to

(16:21):
be the best. Good luck, Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Yeah, I don't know anyway, Well, here we go. I'm
gonna take it. You want me to take it from here,
I'll take it. You got it missed Aarrings and I
appreciate that. You know, TJ. You know, we're a team here.

and handle it. And we did and TJ did it.
I'm here, We're ready to go. It's up on game

before we get to the next topic, we have a
little breaking.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
News, breaking news from Fox Sports Los Angeles.

Speaker 7 (20:44):
Lakers star Luca Doncic has just signed a three year,
one hundred and sixty five million dollar max contract extension.
Doncic just tweeted, quote excited to keep working to bring
championships to LA and make late nation proud. Grateful to
the Lakers, my teammates and all the fans who've shown
so much love since day one. This is just the

(21:07):
beginning unquote. The extension kicks in starting with the twenty
twenty six twenty seven season. There is a player option
for the third year which would be the twenty twenty
eight to twenty nine season.

Speaker 5 (21:18):
Guys appreciate it a loo And yes we will be
talking the new Slim Reaper. You know, he's taken a
Kd's nickname because he has certainly gotten into great shape.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
Fellas.

Speaker 5 (21:30):
We'll talk with Cuffs about that in hour two.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
But let's keep the.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
Theme the same though here on contracts may have some
criticisms on the NBA. People say a lot of things
about the NBA. One thing they do they pay their players.
I tell you that that's a heck of a contract
for Luka Doncic, Fellas, but there has not been a
heck of a contract for one Terry McLaurin in Washington, DC.

(21:57):
Just when you thought everything was good and the good
was getting better in Washington, great feel good season four,
the Washington Commanders one game away from the Super Bowl,
new ownership, new energy, new head coach, new quarterback, Rookie Phenom,
and Jaydon Daniels.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Now they don't want.

Speaker 5 (22:16):
To pay the receiver that probably most likely is well,
I don't think most likely he's your main weapon. He's
your main target. He's your main piece for the success
that you were able to see with Jaydeon Daniels in
the passing game. How do you guys see this situation?

(22:37):
He's now requesting a trade again. I keep the same
energy on this. I feel like this is just standard
for par for the course that if they don't give
you a contract by a certain amount of time, the
proper procedure and protocol is to obviously request the trade.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
How you guys see it? This gets tricky here, just
speaking of the Cowboys in the last segment. When you
have success, guys want to be rewarded. And the reason
it's just tricky is because we know Michael Parsons is
going to the top of the market. Where do the
commanders put Terry McLaurin as far as the receiver market,

(23:22):
where does he fall. He's not gonna leap frog Jamar Chase,
He's not gonna leap frog Justin Jefferson. He's not gonna
leap frog c. D. Lamb. Where does he fall in
the upper echelon of receiver pay? And so for for

(23:44):
the commanders, for for Terry McLaurin, they have to find
something that works. I personally believe when you look at
there's been a lot of receivers signed this offseason, specifically
Jamar Chase. He's been at one point the highest paid
nine quarterback in NFL history. But between T Higgins and

(24:08):
the other guys that he's gonna want a lot more
than Courtland Sutton who recently just signed. But this is
what happens when you win. And not only were they
one game away from the super Bowl, they were one
well played game from the super Bowl. If guys don't
fumble the ball, the season may go different. But this

(24:29):
is no different than the Cowboys. You can't have these distractions, man,
you added debo. You can't have these distractions when you
have aspirations to have a better season than what you've
had last year the previous. You don't want these distractions.
And the coach Dan Quinn is going to say all

(24:50):
the right things. Organizations going, he's your best receiver. Just
pay the man he's earned it, give him his money.
And not only that, you have a quarterback on a
Ricky contract. You can get this man a three year
extension and your quarterback will still be on his Ricky contract.

(25:10):
I just don't understand, man, what these organizations be doing.
I really don't like no disrespect anybody when you say
that it's always some form of disrespect.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
Right.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
How do the decision makers get into decision making positions
when they let stuff like this pop up instead of
getting out in front of it. I don't understand it.
You can't pay everybody. You can't pay everybody that comes. Oh,
I'm under problem. But your main players. Anytime the Washington

(25:43):
Commanders needed to play, Scary Terry's one making a play
last year, every time him and Jane Daniels were making
a play, you can get it done. They need to
get it done. It's not a should. They need him.
He's their big play threat down on the field. I
believe it will happen. But once again, are you doing
this pitching the playeroffs?

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Yeah, Amy, I really thought that when Josh Harrison and
this new group man went into Washington there was really
uh focused on turning this organizations around, which they have.
I'm not saying that they haven't based off of the
last season and drafting Jane Daniels and everybody is on
the same page with him, you know, becoming one of

(26:27):
the best, you know, young quarterbacks in this league. But
I think that this is a total, totally different situation
in Washington with scared Terry than it is with Michael Parsons,
because I really honestly believe that Adam Peter.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
Is the GM for the Washington Commanders.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Really thinks that they can They're going to have success
with Scared Terry.

Speaker 4 (26:51):
If he's in the lineup or not.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
I really believe that, I really do, because you know,
now you have a franchise quarterback.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
He's going to.

Speaker 4 (26:59):
Continue to get better.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
But I really believe that having Terry, he's going to
have a big hand and the development of Jaydon Daiels
moving forward. And one of the things I do understand
from a Washington standpoint, just like you said, TJ, he's
a businessmen. They understand the Commanders went into this season
with the most cap space of any team in the NFC,

(27:22):
with eighty seven million dollars in a cap So.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
You can pay the guy.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
So what's the hold up?

Speaker 3 (27:27):
But you know what they're saying, the same thing that's
saying in Washington, the same thing that's saying in Dallas. Well,
we know these guys want contracts, they want to be compensated,
But if you look at it from our point of view,
they're still on the contract for one more year. That's
what they're saying. So that's what these organizations are hiding behind.

(27:49):
You know, he's still on the contract. We don't have
to pay him, but they are looking at their colleagues
being paid. And he's looking at a contract relative to
what DJ Metcalf got in Pittsburgh, which is the five
which is what I think it was. What five years,
one fifty or one thirty with thirty three million dollars guaranteed.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
That's what he's looking at.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
And now Washington is playing an analytics game with Terry
McLaurin saying, you know what, we really don't want to
invest thirty to thirty five million dollars to an agent
receiver who was thirty is and he's going to be
turning thirty one in September.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
That's what they're saying.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Now, look at their production. The man has five straight
one thousand yard seasons. His rookieyear, he had nine hundred
and nineteen yards, well seventy yards well seventy yards away
from having a six straight thousand yard season. He's the
most explosive, one of the most explosive wide receivers in
all the football.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
He can't deny that.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
If the Washington Commanders want to continue on the trajectory
of being one of the elite teams in the NFC.
You have to get this man on the football field.
I don't know how these guys are going to get
it done, but him coming out requesting the trade, he
does not carry the same leverage as Michael Parson's does

(29:15):
down in Dallas.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
So that's why I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
I'm looking at Adam Peters and what I'm hearing is
that they basically don't want to pay him the money
because he's thirty years old.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
He'll be turning thirty.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
One, and just like you say, TJ, he's not one
of He's not one of the top five receivers in
all of football as far as you know being elite,
but he is an elite performer. So I don't know
what they're gonna do moving forward. But just like you said,
Jaydon Dames is on this record contract. They have the
money to get it done. So why aren't they getting

(29:49):
this deal done If they have the money to do it.
He's in a tricky space with requesting the trade.

Speaker 5 (29:56):
I think they're going to have to take in the
can sideration that yes, this is a jayd and Daniels team,
they're going to have to prepare to pay him in
the next two to three years, and looking at where
they're at going into Jayden sophomore season, why would you
want to do anything that would disrupt him from having

(30:17):
another good year. I got to say it's concerning to
not do a deal with Terry at this point and
at this moment, even if you don't view him as
a top three receiver in the league, for the simple
fact that you know what, he's the top receiver for
the Washington Commanders and if you don't have him. While

(30:40):
I think Deebo Samuel is a fine football player, he
gets hurt. We don't know what he's going to be
as a player for the Washington Commanders. I'm not even
going to get off into the whole weight thing. I
don't really care about that. He can play, he's versatile,
and he brings a dimension, a different dimension to this team.
But I do not see him be being a one receiver. I, however,

(31:03):
do see McLaurin being a one receiver and is a
pillar in the community. It seems like it has the
type of stench that was with the last regime that
was in Washington.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
D c I hope these.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
Cats are paying attention to the fact that you've built
some good will in Washington. Don't start messing it up
with situations like these. He doesn't need to be the
highest paid receiver in the league. It's not going to
be a scenario where he gets the type of money
Jefferson and them have gotten in Chase. But he does
need to get compensated fairly for the value that he

(31:38):
has on his team, and it's a tremendous value. Islo,
let's get an update from you, guys, because you know what,
from you? Because I want to talk Trey Lance before
we get to the break. So what you got going
on in the world of sports?

Speaker 1 (31:50):
My friend?

Speaker 7 (31:51):
A big day for another Los Angeles athlete, Lamar Lakers
star Luka doncentrishow.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
You wanna call me Lamar? Huh okay, did I say, Lamar?
It's all good, gosh.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
Lamar Jackson has ruined my life, bro, He's rolling my
life welling as soon as it's football season, everybody calls
me Lamar.

Speaker 7 (32:10):
Here's here's here's the thing though.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
I never would have thought that would Here's the.

Speaker 7 (32:13):
Thing though, which, yeah, you know what, You're kind of
right I'm I'm disappointed in myself. To be honest with you,
I don't think I've ever been more disappointed in myself.
But you have to understand now, you know what Lamar
Jackson goes through because everyone keeps calling him LeVar. Yeah,
I mean some some skinny pencil neck radio dude in

(32:36):
Baltimore probably calls him LeVar all the time, and he's like,
I'm Lamar, not LeVar.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
I doubt it.

Speaker 7 (32:42):
Anyway, I try to as I try to backpedal out
of this embarrassment and retreat for my humiliation. Not a
humiliating moment for Lakers star Luca dontrich sonigo three year,
one hundred and sixty five million dollar max contract extension.
The extension kicks in starting with the twenty twenty six
twenty seven seas which is the season after next season.

(33:02):
There's a player option for the third and final year
of the extension, which is the twenty twenty eight to
twenty nine season. And by the way, get this. Today
is exactly six months to the day that Doncic was
traded to the Lakers by the Dallas Mavericks in the
NFL the Denver Broncos, signing All Pro defensive lineman Zach
Allen to a four year, one hundred two million dollar

(33:23):
extension with sixty nine million guaranteed. Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback
Shador Sanders was held out of team drills today due
to shoulder soreness. While coming up at the top of
the hour the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony
in Canton for the class of twenty twenty five Antonio Gates,
Sterling Sharp, Jared Allen, and Eric Allen and now.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
L farm back to here.

Speaker 5 (33:50):
Yeah, whatever, all right, I appreciate Jallo Fellas you know,
Alo was talking about the Hall of Fame inductions taking
place today. The Hall of Fame game took place, and
the backups played in the game. But Trey Lance, a
former top draft pick for the San Francisco forty nine
Ers number three, things didn't work out the way that

(34:11):
maybe he anticipated or others had anticipated for him. Such
high hopes, ends up leaving, going to Dallas, ends up
in the plays, ends up here. Now he lands in
a new situation, and he played very well for the Chargers.
Now you'll say, okay, it's Herbert's team one, of course,
But to see him get out there play the way

(34:34):
that he played.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
How'd you guys take that? Like, what, what is there?

Speaker 5 (34:38):
The opportunity is there the chance that he may play
himself into, you know, a starting position perhaps at another
franchise in the NFL off of this preseason.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
It's going to take more, obviously than that one game.
But that one game, that Hall of Fame game, was
a huge step in the right direction. If Trey Lance,
and I'm assuming the Chargers are going to want to
see how he can do against really good players. So

(35:11):
I really believe this next game they're gonna start Herbert.
Herbert's gonna play very little. They want to see Trey
Lance against the WANs. They want to see Trey Lance
against the WANs in a preseason game. And if he
can play well, we might have to start calling Harvall
a quarterback whisper. Because Trey Lance was all but thrown away.
He was washed up, he couldn't play, That's what everybody said.

(35:36):
But Trey Lance has the least amount of starts of
any top five pick in the history of the league.
Like Trey Lance hasn't played much football in his life,
let alone in the NFL. He only had seventeen starts
in college, and so I'm happy for him if he
can find his way after Obviously in San Francisco he

(35:59):
had the injuries. Wen't really given a chance there just
because of the injuries and the Brock party took off.
But he didn't get this opportunity in Dallas, and so
I'm happy for anybody that can finally fulfill the promise
that they had. Let's see where it takes them. Let's
do this, plex I want to get your opinion on this.

Speaker 5 (36:18):
I also wanted us to talk about there was a
scrimmage yesterday Jacksonville. The conversations have continued to build up
around mister himself, mister Travis Hunter. We'll talk about what
he's got going on. We'll finish this Trey Lance conversation
as well. Let's take a quick break so we can

(36:39):
get the full scope of what that conversation is. From
Plexico and from TJ. I'm LeVar Arrington. This is up
on Games Fox Sports Radio. Quick break will be right back.

Speaker 5 (38:27):
All right, everybody, welcome back into the show. It is
up on game Plex, Coburst, TJ. Huschman's Ada. I'm LeVar Arrington.
As mentioned, we will be getting to Travis Hunter in
matter of seconds. But yeah, let's get let's get back
to the conversation of Trey Lance.

Speaker 1 (38:44):
H Plex.

Speaker 5 (38:45):
What was your take on Trey Lance's performance and how
do you feel that this may act him moving forward?

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Now?

Speaker 3 (38:51):
I think it's good man. I think it's a good,
good stuff for him. You know, he's going into a
fifth year. I really believe that, you know, uh, you know,
Jim Harball has plans to really develop him, you know,
into a quarterback. I think as big as asset moving
forward is that man he gets to watch Justin Herbert
every day and now he's going to sit back and

(39:13):
learn from one of the best quarterbacks in this league,
and now that he has a great coach. I don't think
nobody really said that Trey Lance can't play. I remember
Mike Tomlan saying, listen, don't tell me a player can't play.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
That's where coaching comes in.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
And I believe that's where Jim Harball is that with
Trey Lance, is really developing him into a backup quarterback
because we all know he's not going to play and
for the charge to be a starter for the Charger Charge,
yeah right, but yeah, he's definitely auditioning for the other

(39:50):
thirty one teams in this league. But I think it's
a good start for him. He's going into his fifth season.
I believe that the speed of the game is going
to slow down for him. He's going to be able
to adjust. And now, like you just said, TJ, we
just might have to start calling Harball the quarterback whispering
because we all know that the quarterback position is about,

(40:12):
you know, understanding defenses, diagnosing coverages, being active with the football,
and being a good decision maker. I think for Trey Lance,
for him, I think nobody's ever questioned his ability athletically,
but to learn the quarterback position. I believe he's in
the best, best place, in the best space to learn

(40:33):
behind Justin Herbert, Jim Harball, and to really help his
development moving forward, because if he can become you know,
one of those you know, great young backup quarterbacks moving forward,
I think that's what the plan is for Jim Harball.

(40:54):
It's to say, you know what this man can This
man can play football, and I'm gonna fix him and
I'm gonna show everybody that this man can't play the
position well.

Speaker 5 (41:02):
The best position, they say, is the backup quarterbacks position.
Before we get out of here for this first hour,
we've got three minutes left. But Travis Hunter played both
ways and a scrimmage recently. It just raises the questions,
do you think that this is reasonable, feasible, and realistic
that Travis Hunter will play both ways and can play
both ways. I find it to be a tad bit

(41:24):
concerning just for the simple fact that the wear and
tear of the game for playing one position is more
than enough. But to do both ways as a two
way player, true two way player, I find that to
be pretty It's for one phenomenal, But man, I think
it's concerning how you guys see it super quick.

Speaker 4 (41:43):
I believe he can do it.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
Man, There's just certain players that come along and they
defy what we thought was conventional, and he just maybe
one of those players. Bro. When you can play that
many snaps in college, your lungs and just your ability
mentally to focus. He may not be able to do

(42:05):
it full time like he did in college in the league,
but he's going to be able to play fifty snaps
on offense forty to fifty snaps on defense. I believe
he can do it because what he did in college
we had never seen before. I don't think that that
many plays, Tom, I'm telling you he gonna be because
a lot of times in defense, you're in zone, a

(42:26):
lot of times the balls away from you. Like he
gonna be able to do it. I believe he can
do it. Now, how will his body hold up is
a question? What you got last.

Speaker 3 (42:36):
I agree with that he's going to be able to
do it, but I think I just think that the
physicality at the next level will hinder him from being
a full time wide receiver. I believe, Listen, he's going
to be a great young corner I believe he's more
natural at the cornerback position than the offense. I believe
that Jacksonville is going to answer him into the offense

(42:57):
for maybe those fifteen or twenty plays to get him
the ball in screens with versus different things, and you know,
in game winning situations they're gonna put another exposed to
player on the field in Travis Hunter. But I believe
that you know he's gonna he's gonna start on defense. Offensively,
he's going to get some reps, but I don't believe
he's going to get forty to fifty reps on office.

(43:18):
I believe it's going to be in the more fifteen
to twenty play range.

Speaker 5 (43:21):
If you're zoning him, I'm gonna throw the ball at him.
If you're playing him, man, I'm running him off every
single time. I'm gonna try to wear him down and
I'm gonna try to make him play if you're playing
it on, trying to go both ways with him. I
feel like I got a competitive edge against you because
I already know where I want to attack the field zone.
I'm going I'm going quicks. I'm going quicks, and I'm

(43:42):
gonna make him play, you know. So anyway, we got
basketball coming up and we're gonna talk a lot of
it on the other side of this break Hour two
coming at you up on game Fox Sports Radio.
