thousand dollars? Ash right, Heylina, I'm a man of my word,

(03:19):
owe a big apology to. Let's get into it. Let's
get this show going. Everyone in the sports world, especially
NFL fans, should say, Sean Payton, we are so very sorry,
mister Peyton. We were wrong and you were right. I
thought about this on the drive in today. We got

(03:42):
the Broncos versus Danny G's Raiders tonight, and as Cavino said,
who's in control of the AFC, the Horsey Teams, the
Horsey Teams, Man Colton, Broncos. Yeah, you never realized that
Peyton Manning played for the Horsey Teams. He's a Horsey
type of guy. Yeah, and he loved sex in the City,
Sarah Jessica Parker right, yes, And as we stand today,

(04:04):
the Horsey Teams Cults are seven and two, Broncos are
seven and two. And it was a few years ago
when Sean Payton took over for Nathaniel. I can't quite
hack it for the Denver Broncos. And if you remember
Pet Nathaniel, that's my Buddy Hacket. Oh yeah, okay, that's

(04:25):
a good one too. I remember that's for the old guys,
go Buddy Hackett joke. That's for the old guys in
Sam because Sam's an old soul.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
I love Buddy Hackets. Yeah. See. So he leaves the
Saints after an NFC championship run and everyone's saying, man,
Sean Payton's walking away from that. I guess it's over.
Takes a year off, if we remember correctly, and then
he re emerges as the guy that's gonna take the

(04:52):
Broncos to where Mike Shanahan took him to where you know,
other coaches in the past couldn't really right, like, we're
gonna try to get back to those those golden years.
His stock was low at the time, so you know,
in our defense, it looked like a weak move, like,
come on, man, you're trying to polish a turd here.
Don't sell me on this. You see a bright future

(05:14):
in Denver sort of thing. That's how it felt. I mean,
when we were kids like Dan Reeves couldn't get the
job done completely, Shanahan did. And then the Broncos are
looking for that next like generation and very quickly. The
combination of Sean Payton and Russell Wilson were mocked on

(05:34):
social media, were mocked in the sports media. Within the
first half of the first season, there were headlines that
were saying, Sean Payton grand opening, great closing, He's not
even gonna last a year. This is a nightmare. Remember
the whole Russell Wilson's circus that went along with it.
They couldn't really see eye to eye on things. I'm
reading some headlines now, Sean Payton left to go sucking Denver.

(05:58):
Peyton wanted to leave after the end championship game, for this,
He's not even gonna last six weeks, fans were so
down on Sean Payton and that Russell Wilson COMBA. Remember
Russell Wilson. Sean Payton came in and immediately was like, yeah,
if this guy has his own office, that doesn't fly
with me. Am I remembering correctly? No, Yeah, there was
a lot of drama. And then you know, up until
a couple of weeks ago, people think Sean Payton took

(06:20):
another shot at RUSS so it wasn't a match mate
at Heaven. People thought, oh my goodness, could they hit
the reset button like Cavino when he was losing RBI Baseball?
Could you just hit the reset never lost a game
of RBI Baseball. Always hit the reset with the big toe.
That was the move, patented move big Toe. Accidentally, always
hit the reset button. Yeah, that's never lost restart. I'm sorry, yep, sorry, guys, undefeated.

(06:43):
Never lost the double Dribble either. Never. I don't think
I ever lost the game in Nintendo hit that reset button.
Ice hockey, no way. Never. Two medium guys won, Skinny
one fat never lost. So I just think we all
owe Sean Payton and a few people we could add
to the list. Well, you know, why do you know?
The sounds very similar to a lot of the backtrack,
and everyone did. With Dan Campbell because he talked the

(07:07):
big game about his lions, Everyone's like, yeah, okay, but
biting weekend, he showed that his gritty ways and his
tough sort of attitude translated on the field. It just
took some time, But didn't everyone get a nice little
laugh and chuckle at his demeanor at the press conferences,
like okay, Dan talking about Bien kneecap seriously, And then

(07:28):
it showed in the next few years, I got another
one for you, Duval, And all of a sudden, the
Jags look better than they did in a few years too.
That's a good one. Like, yeah, we all laughed at
their expense, but looking back in retrospect, they were onto something.
Jacob de Gram also comes to mind too, because he

(07:48):
left your Mets and his quote was, yeah, I really
believe what the Texas Rangers are doing. And we laughed everybody,
even here on the show when we were doing Sundays.
We were doing Sundays here on Fox Sports Radio, We're like, yeah,
you believe what the Rangers are gonna let's go to
the Rangers for the winning culture. They win the World
Series in next year. So, yeah, he was onto something.

(08:09):
He was right, and we said, hey, we're sorry he
was right about that. We're gonna add Sean Payton to
this list because even if they don't win at all,
their playoff bound and I'd say they're a top three
team in the NFL right now. I think that's it's debatable,
but it's fair to say that they're seven to two
and they should be eight and one. If you remember,
one of their losses was against the other Horsey team

(08:31):
exactly remember the Colts. It was a penalty on the
on the missfield goal, so they got a second shot
at it and then they got the field Also, they
should be eight and one again, a top AFC contender.
And just two years ago the headlines were that Sean
Payton's a disaster, Denver made a mistake. What are they doing?

(08:51):
People are laughing and mocking, and it just lends itself
to two thoughts I want to bring up here.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
Number one.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
We want to hit you guys, to hit us up.
Who else deserves a sports apology? We're sorry? Who else
deserves of it all? We're sorry not show what happened there?
And the other layer is this just goes along with
the narrative, Danny, that we've talked about for years on
our show. Right, people's lack of patience and I get it.

(09:19):
I ordered my son a Mookie Betts Jersey Dad. When
does it get here? Oh buddy, it was like a Wednesday,
as said, I'll be her Friday. Friday. I'm like, yeah,
that's like in forty eight hours. Do you want it
to show up? Like? Now? This goes back to the
Ronnie very famous Ronnie Chang bit that we quote often
here on the show. Ronnie Chank says, we live in

(09:41):
a prime now world where we want it now, prime now.
We want to order, click the button and then hear
our doorbell ring and have it on our doorstep immediately.
We lost patience Prime now. I don't want it tomorrow,
I don't want it Friday. I want it now. It's
how it is. We want instant results. I want everyone
in this room to admit this. Mansie. I'm talking to
you as well. Have you ever clicked on something you're

(10:02):
buying on Amazon and if it's not next day, you're
like what? Oh?

Speaker 4 (10:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:07):
You go with a different brand. It'll be there on time.
It's not gonna hear it. It won't be on my
doorstep within twelve hours.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
I need it to be like two days.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Two days is my max, max max.

Speaker 5 (10:17):
And if not, like Danny g said, I'm looking for
another option.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
You might not even need it.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
I know, but I want it. But I want it
in my possessions. So don't have to worry about it.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
It's the culture we live in. And you know what,
here's another example. Yeah, it affects not only us as adults,
which is crazy. Kids grew up this way. So if
you watch like an old movie with kids, you know
how I love old cartoons and old movies start with
the credits. Yeah, kids are like, what is this trash?
Give me the action now. They don't want to see

(10:46):
and sit through credits. They want the movie to start
right then and there credits.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
What's even worse is cod can't wait from one episode
to the next, you know, like on Netflix where the
little box lights up and it says next episode twenty seconds,
Nay says.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
More more more, Rich says that his kids like would
cry when commercials would come on something. I'm like, kids,
these are commercials. Nah now because we want yeah, we
want everything now. We want results. Now, we want to
win championships. Now. That's the world we live, and we
don't let things develop. We lost player development, We lost

(11:24):
artists development. You know me, Artists are dropped from labels
because they don't come out with hits when people want them. Hey,
you guys are the most talented band ever. Now we
dropped you because you didn't develop in three months. Let
me tell you it's uh, it's something we've talked about
quite a bit, but I always like readdressing this because
you said it right. There's historical, phenomenal great TV shows, athletes,

(11:48):
things that never would have been given time to breathe.
Had we went by this mindset, Seinfeld would never have
happened one of the greatest shows of all time. Seinfeld's
ratings would have made that will be canceled in today's world.
Peyton Manning historically had that terrible first rookie season where
maybe in today's culture they're like, yeah, he's not the guy,

(12:08):
we might need to move on. Troy Aikman absolutely been stunk.
These are all great examples of things that took a
little time, and patience was a part of our life,
so we let them develop and reap the benefits of it.
But don't tell me, world there is none of that.
Don't tell me that you or I or any better though,
because I'll give you an example where I'm not. It's not,
but it's not our falls the culture we live in.

(12:30):
I'm guilty. I if I can't order food with mobile pickup,
my mindset is like whoa wait in line at the restaurant?
He had no.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Thanks, Like with Starbucks it doesn't take mobile orders. I can't.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
We're we're not taking mobile orders. I'm like, well then
I'm not going right. I'm the same way my god.
By the way, have you got your barristasa? No, you're
bare arista. No? But is that I'm telling you now,
not because I think everyone would want one, but you'll
remember I said it first. Today is the first day
they're doing Christmas drinks at Starbucks, like all the peppermin

(13:12):
and gingerbread.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Ing about that life.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
There is a Starbucks collector's cup that's in the shape
of a bear with a little nit cap on, and
they're saying this thing is gonna be like five Hondo online,
Like people are selling them out everywhere, so I'm here
for Yeah, so there's the barrista.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
Well if you get one and then you can make
your money back that you just give Camino.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
So yeah, that's my news. You know what, I'm gonna
use one thousand dollars and buy a few of them, right, yeah,
Comino is gonna hoard bears like tickle me Almos in
the two thousands. Yes, right, I haven't had already online?
So is there anyone else we own apology to a
la Sean Payton style, because in retrospect, he was onto

(13:51):
something and he was right. We were wrong. Not we
the show, we everybody I got one. Nobody saw that.
Every interviewer night and news shows that. Do you ever
see these old interviews where people mock bezos like Amazon,
you sell books and you're in debt. Oh, remember, how's
this gonna work? And he's like, well, it's a business plan,

(14:14):
and he was like, mo, it's funny to say that.
I'll tie it back to sports. There's a very famous
clip of Conan O'Brien, who I love, By the way,
I think Conan's the best. He's sitting there talking to
Joe Rogan, and Joe Rogan's talking about UFCCEE and how
he believes in it, and Conan's sort of like chuckling
at him, like, yeah, you really think it's gonna take off?
Huh the fight game? Really it seems pretty barbaric. I
don't see that happening. Don't know, what do you think? Andy?

(14:36):
And Joe Rogan's like, no, this is the next big thing.
Turns out he was right. Well, if you want to
do Late Night, then we have to remember when Michael
Jordan was on The Late Show with David Letterman, and
Letterman held up the first og air Jordan and he's like,
this is hideous. Who's gonna buy this? And Michael Jordan chuckled.
They all had a good laugh. He didn't like the color,

(14:58):
I was gonna say. He mentioned the color, and because
you know, thinking back sneakers were boring looking they were,
and mostly track sneakers and old school like Converse and
things like that. That red and white. Yeah, it looked weird,
but to a kid back then, it looked amazing. So
he was wrong. Jordan was right. This Peytent thing, this

(15:20):
Sean Payton thing, is a modern day version of he
saw something that no one else saw. You could say
he got lucky. He could say, you know, bo Nicks
helped this narrative, but either way, it turned out that
we owe him an apology because they're playing great football
and who are we adding to the list. And the
other part of the story, guys, is the patience that's

(15:40):
involved in this. You know, we don't let players develop.
We don't let things develop anymore. It's just not the
world we live, and we expect immediate results. I mean
it doesn't always work. I mean we've been trying to
trust the process in Philadelphia for a what a decade ago? Yeah,
but let's think of those examples of a coaching decision,
a personnel decision, something where at first it was mocked

(16:02):
or made fun of, and all of a sudden, you
fast forward you're like, no, no, that actually was brilliant.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
JJ Reddick looking no further, Oh that's Lebron's podcast. Boy,
what a joke. There were actual monologues on our network
calling it the biggest joke in sports history.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Now he has a respected coachmakers are hot. Lebron's not
even playing. I don't think anyone ever undermined his basketball IQ,
but they were clowning him on his Lebron association and
that he wasn't the guy and now they're great, they're
playing great. It was just a homie hook up. Yeah,
homie hook exactly. Yeah. I'd say we're still early on

(16:43):
that one because they still got to prove it. But
he seems to be legit. I mean, I don't think
anyone doubted how great show Hailtan he was. But there
were people that thought, well, that's way too much money,
and the fact that the Dodgers sort of have made
that money back in the year year same year. Now,
I'd say that anyone that doubted, like that's just how
could you pay that type of money. They deferred it

(17:03):
and they already got it back, So like that was,
you know, a ridiculously good decision. You know who we
might someday own apology. I'm just thinking of people that
got a lot of criticism, and you know, we're still
on the fence about you know, when Tom Brady got
in the booth, he garnered tons of criticism, especially because
of all he pushed Alson out. We're comparing him to Alson.

(17:24):
We don't know how good he's going to get, you know,
a few years from now, and we're going to look
back and say, hey, remember how everyone was so hard
on tom Brady. The dude was just starting out. You know,
we don't give people time to develop. I think Jeter
gets some of that criticism now too. We just saw
in the World Series in the post Games, it's like
he's not a broadcaster. In a few years, he's probably
going to be a lot better. And we're going to

(17:45):
say they we're kind of hard on the guy was
his first few years doing this. Maybe he could order
a personality on Amazon. I think tom Brady's a good one.
I think tom Brady's so competitive that a few years
from now, we're going to look back and be like, yeah,
we were hard on him. I mean, he had never
done it before. He's great. Now, how about Nico Harrison
he traded away a fact. Wait a second, I mean,

(18:07):
but we don't know that story yet, right Like, ohow,
they're playing yeah right now, but they got flagged. They
got some potential, but they're not scoring good, scorning a lot.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
And I was going to say, I mean, obviously Luca
trimmed down and got in shape, and he looks like
an MVP candidate at this point.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
What's the stat that came out today that Luca has
more points per game than Davis and Flag combined. Oh
you know what, speaking of Tom Brady, you missed them
the more obvious one. I'm not saying you did. No, no, no,
go ahead. Our buddy Mauser hit us up listening in Kentucky.
What's up, bud, Hey buddy, he said. Tom Brady going
to the Bucks was mocked as like, that's where you're

(18:44):
going for real? You leave, you leave Belichick and your
dynasty to play for the Buccaneers, because remember it was like,
I felt really weird. There were other landing spots that
felt at the time better, But looking now, you're like, well,
i'd have great personnel and everything, but you know what,
Tom Brady go into the Bucks was mocked. Guy wins

(19:05):
the super Bowl. There, these are good examples. I love
these guys. Eight seven, seven, nine to nine on Fox.
We'll take the rest of your feedback. Next, put your
thinking cap on, which is what a fedora? What's your
thinking cup? It'll a link in top hats. Put on
your thinking cap and let us know what Travis Matthew,

(19:26):
what athlete, what musician? What notable figure? Who was mocked?
And we sort of own apology, like Yo, we were
way wrong, and uh say sorry, we didn't see it.
Because going into tonight's game, Danny no offense. They should
meet your Raiders, which would then leave them eight and
two after ten games and a legit Super Bowl contender

(19:47):
Sean Payton bo Nicks, a team that two years ago
people were saying was a laughing stock because Sean Payton
had no clue He's not going to last the season.
And now you could argue this, this is the team
to beat in the A say.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Now, I'll just give you a little bit of caution though,
and I'm not being too optimistic because the Raiders did
get blown out by the Chiefs. But this is a
division in division game. These two are rivals. The last
ten times the Raiders and Broncos matched up, the Raiders
are eight and two against the Broncos day and a
lot of those were losing Raiders seasons. So these two
teams always play each other really tough. So the lesson

(20:22):
here too, it's not just in football, it's in life.
You gotta let things simmer and breathe a little bit
and let things develop before you make a full assessment.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
As you know, this sucks, you know.

Speaker 4 (20:33):
So are you saying you'd give Pete Carroll another year
in Vegas because he's trying to implement his system.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
That yeah, like it takes a minute for things to
click in right. It's like, I'll give you an example.
Like my dad. He goes on these kicks of like
vitamins he takes or whatever, a new sort of regiment
that he's on. I'm like, hey, Dad, how you feeling
any better?

Speaker 2 (20:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (20:54):
It didn't work. Yeay, hey dad, you're taking those beat vitamins.
Those beats, Yeah for a week eight they suck. Do
it away. It would do nothing like Leonard like run
into your system. Maybe take it like for two weeks
or so, maybe even a month. See how you feel. Nothing.
That's a great one. Health, health and fitness. How many

(21:16):
time let it? How many times as someone expected immediate
results for like immediate results. Yeah, I've been going to
CrossFit or Orange Theory for a week. What's I'm not
seeing results? It takes some time.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Oh, my FM radio station eye programmed. Back in the day,
we would have sponsors come aboard and if they didn't
get immediate results in one day of airing commercials, they
flipped out. And I remember our general sales manager always
used to tell them give them three weeks. Please give
the listeners three weeks to hear about your company. But
not only that, I got it, guys, Rome wasn't built

(21:47):
in a day? Did you come up with that?

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Like that one? Write it down. That's a good one.
Write it down. But Danny the radio one is a
great example because when a new morning show, let's say,
takes over or they flip a format, they always say
give it a year or so you can't you got
to give it. They always say two years as the
magic number, like give a show or something two years,
because you can't expect something to come in a coach,
a format, change, a new show, a character like Wasn't

(22:13):
Arrested Development Another example of a show they thought was
a failure Family on Family Guy. You know again, when
you give things a chance to grow and develop, you
know you get the results that you were hoping for.
Not all the time, but you'll never know if you
cut the court too soon. So we say, Sean Payton,
We're sorry, Sorry, buddy, looks like you're right sorry. Sorry.

(22:35):
Your examples next here on Covino on Rich Fox Sports
Radio Thursday. Let's go there. He is mister Vane, Steve Cavina,
leave my vein out of this. I mean, what's up? Sam?
What up? Rich? What up? Danny g? What's up? Mat Khalil?
Hey Covino? Rich shot FSR with Monte Bolanos with your

(22:58):
updates in about nine minute. And remember every Thursday Old
School went fifty hits, we throw it back and reminisce
with you. So let's get involved. At eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox right now, we're just on our
apology campaign. We're saying that Sean Payton, We're sorry, hey.
And when I say we, I don't mean our show

(23:19):
in particular. We're saying we the public because everyone thought
this dude was full of it, like, yeah, you're gonna
turn the Broncos around and you're gonna make them playoff contenders.
At the time, it was looking. It was the word glum, glim,
glim glove. It was looking. It was not looking good.
How about that with all the Russell Wilson stuff. And

(23:40):
again he turned it around. What is it glib is
to cruise?

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (23:45):
I called Matt Loward glib glib. It was looking glib
grim grim grim damn grim damn grim. It was gloomy,
damn some G word. I don't know, But it turns
out he was right because they're good and there's lots
of examples. But the other side part of the story
is patience. Someone once told me, he or she who

(24:12):
can master patience can master anything. There you go, he
or she's just hear the little patience. If you can
master patients, you can master anything. Sometimes things take time
to develop, but in today's world, we don't have the
patience to allow that to happen. We have the time.

(24:32):
We want results right now. If mobilets, if mobile orders down,
you pick another store. If Amazon says it won't get
there by tomorrow, you panic in them. But what we'll
get here tomorrow? We yo. Everyone needs a deep breath. Man.
What did the traveling Willbury say on a throwback Thursday?
It's going to take time, a whole lot of pressure.
Time is going to take patience.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
In our defense, Rich, couple of our favorite teams. We've
been patient for what thirty five years?

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Yeah? True? People say, Rich, A're a Mets fan. I said,
I'm very patient, sign of a good character. Very patient.
My kids said, Dad, the Dodgers won. What was the
last time the Mets one. I'm like when I was
your age, Dad's very patient. It's gonna really feel good
when it happens. All right, let's go to your calls.
Who deserves an apology a la Sean and Payton because
we are just not patient. You said, Dan Campbell's a

(25:22):
great example. We make it. Yeah, we make fun of
certain people and they get the last last. But it's
the truth. Though, looking back, you did think Dan Campbell
was a clown? You did. You're like, yeah, whatever, dude,
you're just another raw rock guy thinking you're gonna bring
the Lions to glory, and hey, he did. He turned
it around. They bought into his mindset and mentality. So sorry,

(25:46):
call Florida, what's up, buddy?

Speaker 6 (25:48):
What's going on?

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Guys?

Speaker 6 (25:48):
Hey buddy, Hi, man, I appreciate taking my call. Love
the show. Yeah, how about ed Ordron Go Doggers twenty
sixteen gets hired. Everybody thinks it's a joke, man, This guy,
the stupid lineman. Mine coach coordinator Tom Herman was the
hot guy at the time. I think he went from
Houston to Texas and that was there. Everybody was praising
that move. And then you know, three years later, John's

(26:10):
you know, walking away with the national championship and one
maybe one of the greatest college teams of all time
and one.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Of the greatest coaching voices of all time, one of
the best voices in sports of all time. Let's go
to Joe in West Virginia. What up, Joe, Hey, Joe, Hey, guys, Hey, guys,
you stole him mine there with Dan Campbell.

Speaker 6 (26:26):
I think he's clearly the most obvious choice.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
But what he really did was change the culture. And
that's exactly what Detroit needed. They needed to coach, but
they needed a dramatic culture change. Yeah, and it worked.
At the time, we just thought, like you said, I
just know the guy that's going to come in here
and fail. That's how you feel about every quarterback that
goes to Cleveland, Right, Eventually there will be someone, yeah
that does it. We got hit up. I'm looking at

(26:51):
our feedback at coven On Rich. I'm sure it's sports entertainment,
but when they make some of these moves like John
Cena turns heel or remember Hollywood Hogan, you don't think
there were people that are like, how stupid. This is
never gonna work and it ends up being a really
good gimmick generates money, big pay per views, like there

(27:11):
are times where you know what. Speaking of which, when
Logan Paul and Jake Paul first started boxing, I remember
my wife, who I guess followed them on TikTok or
Twitter at the time or in Instagram. My wife's like, yeah,
this KSC guy is fake fighting Jake Paul or Logan
Paul at the timesI KSI, he wasn't fighting the barstool guy.

(27:31):
He was fighting KSI, Yeah, not KFS. No, you know what.
In fact, I owe Rich an apology because I remember
Rich here, I am screaming out all these fights all
the time, right, and Rich doesn't give a Diddley squad
about Virgil Ortiz fighting this weekend. Correct, And then he
came to me when they goes, I'm watching it Logan
Paul ks I fight. I ordered it on YouTube. It
was like ten bus. I was like, what a door?

(27:53):
All the fights I tell you about and you're worried
about this stupid fight now, Like these are big events.
I said. Just early on, I said to my wife,
I go who's fighting? And she told me two influencers.
It's like it was nine dollars on YouTube live and
she showed me the little hype backstory about they don't
like each other. We watched and I was like, yeah,
this is out of entertaining, and Cavino mocked me and

(28:15):
it changed the fight. And now what do we do?
We look forward to what I thin guy ended up
fighting his brother ended up fighting Mike Tyson last year
for the biggest Netflix live audience ever. Exactly, So you
were wrong. And again, patients, patients, patience. We got to
practice it. Things take time. What's up, Danny G. Some
of us are still on a World Series high. Would
you put Dave Roberts into this topic because during the

(28:39):
season he made such horrible moves that, you know, some
of my fellow Dodger fans were like, he needs to
be fired at the end of the season. Dave Robins
is a I was thinking about him multi Yeah, he's
one World Series playing and coaching. The fact that he
gets hate boggles my mind. The amount of criticism he
got this season. I mean, for a guy, listen, I
get it. Everyone questions their co and manager's decisions. Whatever

(29:01):
team you root for, everyone thinks they're defense stinks in football,
and everyone thinks they're closer stinks in baseball, we have
the same complaints. No matter who you are, Dave Roberts
is accomplished. So I find it hilarious when when there's
so much criticism of Dave Roberts, seems like a really
likable guy to me. Yeah, no, he is the best.

Speaker 5 (29:19):
He is the best, And I'm just like with tour
guests and stuff, he is the best, and you would
know it is not an act.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
You worked for the Dodgers yet and Moncy, some of
the moves he made in the World Series, even his
haters were like, oh.

Speaker 5 (29:32):
Okay, yeah, I hate the hate he gets because I
think it's he's not the person to blame.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
That's really the NYG, Like, who shut up the haters?
That's what we're giving credit to right now, and that's
why we're apolog apologizing on behalf.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
I would like to apologize to the Seahawks. I do
not think that they were going to be as good
as they are.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
You know, it's a good one because when I did
my preseason, like everyone else did, little take eye to
go to look see at the standings, like all right,
the rams are I'm a Niners fan, as people know. Sure,
I was, like and Stafford, they got some juice. If
they're healthy, that'll be the competition. I remember thinking like
Seahawks and Cardinals will stink, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
I just don't think they're gonna be this good.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
And I think because I think we think we look
at the Seahawks still and think they got the leftovers
of the legion of Boom and Pete Carroll and all that. Meanwhile,
they've rebuilt the whole good squad. They feel like Sam
Darnold had some of that jetstank on him still, and
you know what he had in Minnesota, be like, oh,
that might be a fluke, but exactly now we're seeing
other Yeah, he was with the quarterback whisper in Minnesota.

(30:30):
So you thought, oh, yeah, let's get one more with
Scotty right here and then we'll go to Monzi for
an update. What's up, Scotty.

Speaker 6 (30:38):
Man, I'm taking a little different approach here. Yeah, I'm
gonna say the whole Hackers organization every time it comes
to drafting.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
A quarterback, that's a great one because they've been When
they drafted Rogers, it was like, how do you do
that to far When they drafted Love, Look what they're
doing our erroond Rogers. Every step of the way. They
have done the right thing and have developed quarterbacks. But
yet both times it's happened, it's been a mocked move. Well,
I'll say it's interesting, you're right about that. I'm on

(31:04):
the fence about apologizing to Aaron Rodgers because I thought
he was done last year. I didn't think he had
any chance of being in any conversation this year.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
So you guys has a show though the last few
years are like, I feel like Rogers is going to
break back out this season.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
Maybe it's more so Rich. Yeah riched it. I was like, yeah, right,
I thought he was doing that ayahuasca helping. He was
absolutely right. He still had some game left. Right, You
don't know he thinks in ways you our brains haven't
even thought that is true. All right, let's go to
mussy for an upday. What's up bots, What's up?

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Guys? Starting with the sad news of the NFL today. Dallas.

Speaker 5 (31:45):
Yeah, Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Needland died Thursday morning
from an apparent self inflicted gunshot after a police chase
on Wednesday night. These details are according to law enforcement.
He was twenty four. He was a second round pick.
In twenty twenty four, in his last game against the
Cardinals primetime Monday Night Football, he recovered a blocked punt
in the end zone for his first career touchdown.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
It just when I saw that and I connected the
dots on that, I'm like, this guy's living the like
the moment of his professional career and within a week
having some personal drama, mental health to the hell of
a thing.

Speaker 3 (32:20):
It really is, yes, you know, and just put to
the this to take.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Your own life within a week of having such a
glorious moment, it's really terrible.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
It's awful.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
It is awful, and there's really no way to transition
out of this. But Week ten of the NFL does
kickoff later today, and Dallas does have a by four
Week ten, by the way, but it's gonna be the
Raiders and the Broncos at eight fifteen Eastern time. Colts
cornerback Sauce Gardner has cleared the lee's concussion protocol. He's
expected to play in Week ten against the Falcons. Some
of the notable names of players who resume practice today,

(32:52):
Bill's running back James Cook, Panthers running back Regal dabdo Oh,
Lion's right tackle Pinney Suol and Colts wide receiver Michael
Pittman Junior.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
Also, did you guys hear this?

Speaker 5 (33:00):
ESPN reports that the Jets turned down and offer from
the Chiefs for running back Breece Hall because New York
wanted a third round selection in Kansas City was only
willing to offer a twenty twenty six fourth round pick.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
For Oh, they wouldn't. That's ridiculous that the Jets would
have given them Breece Hall for a third round pick.

Speaker 3 (33:18):
Fire sale. And he wanted and he wanted out too,
Like he was tweeting about it.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
He wanted out. We should we should all be happy
because if Breece Hall is on that team, win another
Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
Yeah, yeah, Yeper Bowl. And just a little NBA news
for you.

Speaker 5 (33:34):
Clippers will be without James Harden and Kawhi Leonard tonight
in Phoenix against the Suns.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
It's the only game tonight in the NBA.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
Bradley Beal is going to play, and Lebron James has
been clear for contact. He's going to be real re
evaluated in one to two weeks, but he's not traveling
with the team for their upcoming five game road trip.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
All right, back to you guys. Terry McLaurin, No.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
It's not looking good.

Speaker 5 (33:55):
The last update a week ago was that he was
probably not going to play week ten and that he
probably wasn't gonna play in their international game against I
think the Dolphins in Dublin.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
So it's just it's not looking good, piercel I don't.
I mean, let me look that.

Speaker 1 (34:09):
One rock party. Thank you Mons. We're gonna go old
school next. We do it every Thursday, and this one
has to do with the Sandman. So if you're a
fan of Adam Sandler and you're a fan of sports, uh,
we're gonna combine them both. And we got some fun
coming up here. Could we know Rich on Fox Sports Radio? Wow,

(34:35):
we had so much fun already. I could tell you
what we're gonna talk about on over promised. Oh I'm
just listening to the tunes of Iowa Sam here. Oh yeah,
I was trying to figure out the tie in. But
you're right this Sandman happy. Oh yes, Adam Sandler when

(34:58):
he makes that putt so Iowa SAMs on the ones
and twos, Danny G's super producing. We're getting you involved
now eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. But while
I got your ear Fox Sports Radio Nation. Remember to
tune into over Promised a little over an hour from
now on our YouTube page, Coveno and Rich FSR we
go live. We're gonna be talking about good rumors in

(35:18):
sports a la Matt Khalil. There's some good rumors going
on about that guy, and what's in his pontalonis the
ones that you don't believe and ones that you do believe.
So we'll get to some crazy, weird rumors. We discuss
who might be ass in the world of sports, plus
bad tattoos and more on over Promised. We do that

(35:38):
at four pm on the West, seven pm on the East. Again,
join us live Covino and Rich FSR on YouTube. And
now we're live from the Fox Sports Radio Studio and
it's time for our tire rack Play of the Day.
Luca was on fire. He was fire as he led
the Lakers come back win over the Spurs last night.
Seven seven third quarter actions and want to find themselves

(35:59):
down all of a sudden by five, Make it two,
Make it two on the three by Luca the Dawn.
Luke is on fire. He was on fire. A little
bit of a cold night for Wemby but hey, listen,
it's a long season and that was a great win
for the Lakers. That's courtesy Lakers Television from Spectrum Sports Net.

(36:20):
They beat the Spurs one to eighteen one sixteen. That
is the Tyreq play the game. For over forty years,

Speaker 2 (36:43):
Yea, what we gonna do is go back back into time,
throwing it back for a Thursday. Old School won fifty
hits at fifty after CNR give you the time capsule
topic and we reminisce together.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Yeah. But by the way, speaking of old school, Danny,
when you were watching the Lakers beat the Spurs last night,
did it feel like, ooh, the Spurs and Lakers both
good again?

Speaker 4 (37:07):
Huh Oh, it's nice to see, right, they're good franchises.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
They're good for the West. Oh, Wemby fouled out? Why
like two minutes left and the Mookie bets cheering that
onto the crowd.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
Or the Dodgers. Some of the Dodgers were there holding
up the trophy before the game.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Well, Hank tight on that because we might discuss does
Luca even want Lebron back? Oh? Iran, But right now
we reminisce we do this every Thursday. We get you
involved at eight seven, seven, ninety nine on Fox and
of course at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio
on social media. In nineteen ninety eight, I graduated college.
Time stamped old guy. I know you wouldn't believe it

(37:45):
right when you see how young and handsome I look.
But I graduated college in ninety eight. You look like
Mary Lopez now, But pretty soon you'll look like Georgia Lopez.
Oh man, I hope not. I pray every night. I
pray every nighte No. I've heard this dandy in La
I talked about Mexican friends. They say, one day a
guy looks like a young Latino, handsome guy. Then all
of a sudden, boom, you look like Georgiam happens overnight.

(38:06):
That's wire Bray. Nineteen ninety eight was a good year.
Yankees won the World Series, swept the Padres, Scottie Broches
was the MVP and one of my favorite movies. One
of our favorite movies sort of goes under the radar,
but everybody loves it. Water Boy came out in nineteen
ninety eight, on this day, on this day, Oh coach Climb.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:29):
Now, when you say water Boy, a word that Danny
g said earlier today, underrated now underrated because if you
were to ask me who, I'm a huge Sandler fan.
One day, I hope he's on our show, like his
good pal Dan Patrick. I love the SANDMANA one of
the few big time guests we've never had on. I

(38:49):
would love the Sandman. But when you say, what are
Adam Sandler's best movies, I feel like guys of our
generation and women of our generation always tend to say
a wedding singer, happy Gilmour, Oh, Billy Madison, there's a handfall.
Those are the top three. Yeah, but water Boy, even
see people say big Daddy, water Boy goes under the radar.
So we said, you know what, let's give some props

(39:10):
today to those underrated movies. You know, I say foosball
every time we talk football. Yeah A because I'm a
down ass fool but mainly because of the movie. Who
played his mom, Kathy Bates. Yeah, foosb devil. I see
foodsball all the time. No, Foosball the devil is a
Covino Top ten quote. By the way, top ten quote,

(39:33):
foosball is the Devil is never actually said in sequence
in the movie. It's a devil, yeah, she says, because
it foosball. So you and that stupid foosball. So let's
hit us up eight seven, seven, nine to nine on
Fox on a throwback Thursday in honor of the twenty
seventh anniversary of water Boy. What are other underrated movies?

(39:55):
You can name anything. I'm gonna focus on comedy, but
you can hit us up with anything, because there's some
great underrated comedy and we'll go over them all. Next
to be known Rich best tackler us see since Joe
