Speaker 1 (02:22):

the point zero zero one percent. Yeah that does not
stop talking about their No, and then.

He'll tell us about his half birthday, yep.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
July sixteenth, that's when it is. The road to Milan
runs through Saint Louis. Ce Elia Mallan and Alyssa lou
and Amber Glen compete at the twenty twenty six priviag
In US Figure Skating Championships January seventh through the eleventh.
That ends five days before my birthday. B there as
the twenty twenty sixth US Olympic Figure Skating team is
named live tickets at us figure skis dot org. Birthdays

(03:02):
on a Friday this year, nine days after my birthday.
Monci Belanos is another year.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Oldies this is true, This is true, But.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
She's Aquarius, right Aquarius, I am Capricorn, so close birthdays
not the same sign. It is also two days from
now a new year, twenty twenty five. We say goodbye
hello twenty twenty six. And throughout the year I've noticed

(03:33):
this as well, and it's a way of honoring great athletes,
like we're honoring Lebron James today on his birthday, we're
honoring Tiger Woods who turns fifty. I'm about to turn
fifty in a little over a year, so I'm a
year younger than Tiger Woods, and it's just really weird
to know that Tiger Woods can play champions that play
PGA Tour Champions if he wants, it's called the Champions

(03:55):
Tour now PGA Tour Champions. But if he wants, he
could play in the US Senior Open, if that's something
that he would want to do, which I think would
be the second most popular golf tournament of the year.
If Tiger played in the US Senior Open, I think
only the Masters in April would maybe top the popularity.
I think we would just we would love to see it.

(04:16):
He still says that he's a ways away from from
trying to do anything, but Tiger still moves the needle
even if he's fifty years old. But now he just
gets a lot of AARP stuff in the map.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Yeah, you took the words out of my mouth.

Speaker 7 (04:27):
It's crazy to say that Tiger Woods, after everything that
he's been through today, right now he moves the needle.
If he were to participate in any sort of event,
people would immediately try to get tickets and go, Yes,
it's crazy because I would do I'm thinking, I'm like,
who is he's Okay Scotti Scheffler. Yeah, but it's still
Tiger Woods. Like he's still the everyone who give me

(04:48):
a golfer, you know, Tiger Woods. That's the first answer
I think people would.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Say, they'd be Scotti Scheffler, Rory McElroy. And then people
would start to Then then then you know what you
would get. This is what you get from the common people.
You get Jack Nicholas, Arnold Palmer, Chi Chi Rodriguez. Like
that's where it would go. Like there's like for you know, everybody,
for some reason, everybody knows chi Chi Rodriguez. But that's
what you would get for people who don't know golf.

(05:12):
That's about as far down as you could go.

Speaker 7 (05:14):
I tell you my girlfriends would give me Tiger Woods. Yep,
there's no way that they would know Scotti Scheffler's name.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
No would they know Rory mac.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Or Rory maclor There's no way.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Sure Tiger moves the it would be Tiger. Five years
ago at Fox Sports Radio, we did a ranking of
the top twenty athletes in the first twenty years of
essentially this century. But those are the first twenty years
of our network, which makes me think, now it's been
twenty five years for Fox Sports Radio. But we did

(05:46):
a top twenty countdown of the best best athletes of
those that previous twenty years. ESPN did one this summer
where they counted down the top five, the top one
hundred maybe athletes of the of the past quarters century
is how they did it. But this is where you
come into play. Eight seven seven nine nine on Fox

(06:06):
eight seven seven nine nine to six six y three six'.
Nine we want to hear from you the top athletes
that we've had over the last twenty five. Years And
i'm going to give you the top three athletes that
we had in our top twenty five months, ago, yes
five years, ago number. Three and this was an exercise

(06:26):
where all members Of Fox Sports radio submitted a ballot
with a variety of. NAMES i think there were maybe
seventy names on the, list maybe fifty names on the,
list and you ranked your top. Twenty the top three
broke down To Tiger woods number, Three Lebron james number,
two And Tom brady was voted number. One is the

(06:47):
top athlete at that point of the first twenty years
Of Fox Sports radio from two thousand to twenty. Twenty
so now here we are at twenty twenty. Five who
is added to their legacy over the last five, years
who could be a part of this. Conversation i'm not
going to release the whole list BECAUSE i think there
are names that people will want to bring up totally

(07:10):
and we'll see if they hit our list of twenty
or if they should be included in our twenty or
top twenty. Five but when you look back at the
last twenty five, years, manzi is there an athlete that
stands out to you that you think of that STOOD
i guess the test of time for what they accomplished
over the last twenty or twenty five.

Speaker 7 (07:29):
Years or so besides those, three BECAUSE i think they
could make a list even.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Today, Right, Yes i'm going to throw In Steph.

Speaker 7 (07:35):
Curry Steph, Curry Steph, CURRY i think still moves the.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Needle that.

Speaker 7 (07:40):
Dude watching that guy. Play, Now, lebron you're forty one
and what you're doing is, Incredible it's.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
True But Steph.

Speaker 7 (07:45):
Curry is right alongside you carrying The warriors offense, literally you,
Know SO i would say he right now.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Has to Be Steph curry on this list was at
sixteen five years, Ago, yes five years, ago he was,
Sixteen so HE'S i added a championship since, Then so
that would be so he got his fourth between now and.
Then and, Yeah i'll be curious to see on where
he moves, Out BUT i think That's Steph curry is A.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
But he literally changed a. SPORT i don't think basketball
is the same now before it, was say in twenty.
Sixteen just watching the, sport one player changed the way
everything is played. NOW i don't think you could say
that about a lot of. Athletes Like lebron was amazingly,
great and he almost lived up to the, hype which

(08:32):
seemingly was impossible coming out of high, school but he
didn't necessarily change the way a sport was. PLAYED i
would Give Steph curry the, credit maybe even Over lebron
in the last twenty five.

Speaker 7 (08:43):
Years you, Know i'm not against that at all BECAUSE
i agree with what you're. Saying and if you Watch
Steph curry right, now he is still creating his own
offense by running. Around he doesn't just stand in one
spot because he's tired and old or, whatever you know
WHAT i. Mean, like he's actually still running up and
down trying to avoid a defender get.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Open so, yes he's still doing.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
IT i and and the thing THAT i would, say
AND i Know isaac seems like he Want, isaac you
want to in first, man you.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Good come on.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
IN i feel, that particularly from then twenty twenty until,
now a guy who has rocketed up on that list
from twenty twenty to twenty twenty five Show Hey.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Otani, okay So otani would be, including no, doubt no
doubt for. Sure and he hasn't changed the game yet
because people aren't hitting and pitching, again but he's been
the only, one, right you know the, THING i think
That otani definitely would have been, included especially now with
The World championships The dodgers have five years ago not

(09:42):
on the. LIST i don't even think he was as
a nominee at that, point but now now definitely would be.
Included at that.

Speaker 7 (09:49):
Point do you, remember just off the top of your,
head Was Mike trout on that list at the.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
TIME i think he was a. Nominee, yeah because at.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
The time that would make, sense, right.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Like that's THE MVPs and he.

Speaker 6 (09:59):
Was.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
Yeah Also Patrick mahomes because mahomes First Super bowl victory
was in the twenty nineteen twenty nineteen season into twenty, Twenty.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yeah he could he would have been, Added but it's
when when you hear some of the, names there's there's
certain lines that are. Drawn and that's why The otani
one is interesting because of the baseball players that weren't
included or were included on our. List BUT i want
to say something about This Steph curry conversation BECAUSE i

(10:28):
think that There's steph, is no doubt the greatest shooter
that we have. Seen he wasn't the only shooter on
At golden At Golden, state he was the best of the.
Best how much does the game in analytics and how
you look at the three point shot and the value

(10:50):
of it, change because that's WHAT i also think has
changed that there was a there was a long time
in THE nba where mid range, jumpers guys would make
careers on that a mid range jumper now is blasphemy
in basketball because of the value of the percentage of
the shot compared to your. Point so there's no doubt

(11:11):
That Steph curry is the greatest shooter that we've ever
seen in THE. Mba there's no comparison whatsoever is it
Because Steph curry shot at such a high percentage that
then opened up the world to, Realize, okay this is
a better percentage because he's so good at. It But
Klay thompson was doing the, Same The warriors were doing the.

(11:33):
Same other teams are following now shooting fifty sixty. Threes
like there's no great shooter Like Steph curry on The Boston,
celtics but that's how they. Play so that would be my,
question is the game? Changed have we looked at it
so in an analytics world it has Allowed Steph curry to?
Thrive or Did Steph curry bring that culture in that
now makes us look at the three as a completely

(11:55):
different weapon in the basis of.

Speaker 7 (11:57):
BASKETBALL i think he was the start of life looking
at it analytically and the benefit of being able to
consistently shoot a. Three and it's because of how he shot, it,
right he was taking ridiculous. THREES i, Know Klay Thompson's
Klay thompson's splash, brothers they both were. Awesome but the,
way maybe Because steph looks so much, Smaller maybe because
of him constantly like avoiding the defender coming off a

(12:20):
screen and doing a quick.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
Shot that's like how did he even get it?

Speaker 7 (12:23):
Off you, know like all of that BUT i think
he was the driving force as to how we look at.
IT i do think it was, him and maybe you're
right that it was always going to happen. Naturally, yeah
but HE i do think maybe sped it.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Up, YEAH i think. SO i think. THAT i think.
THAT i so WHEN i look At steph BECAUSE i
want to bring in his personal accomplishments as, well BECAUSE
i don't What i'm trying not to do is diminish
You Steph corey as as a player by saying like
this is just the, Game like he has this moment

(12:59):
like the twenty twenty Four olympics actually ends up being
his moment because it isn't within The, warriors like The warriors,
system you know during their early years it's like lay
up in threes like that's what they that's what they.
Had SO i think that he was a part of
it and shooting it at like that at the clip
that he. Did but, yeah guys Like Kyle korver who

(13:19):
still would shoot.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
Fifty, no it was not the same though it.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
Was it Wasn't and that's and that's why it's different
With curry BECAUSE i think of how the all around
player that he, was so we do have some callers coming?

Speaker 5 (13:32):
In jason are gonna let it? Do it's it's just lighting.
UP i know people are putting away they Are christmas
trees this, week but this the phone bank is lighting
up like A christmas. Tree, well thank, you thank you
for joining that that. METAPHOR i gave that a lot of.
Laughter thank. You brian In. Pennsylvania, brian you're up. First
what's going?

Speaker 1 (13:52):
On? Brian not too?

Speaker 8 (13:54):
Much on my way to?

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Work all, Right, well kudos to you for going to.
Work what what nominee do you want to put for
top athlete in the last twenty five.

Speaker 6 (14:01):
YEARS i want to Put Michael, vick and not for
all the good, things but also the band awareness he.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
WAS i, mean he's a what could have been right
and he has turned his life around now a college
football head. Coach there are people to this day who
don't want anything to do With Michael vick because of
what went. On so it's AN i don't think you
would have cracked the top twenty. ATHLETES i think his
athletic ability was off the, Charts BUT i don't know

(14:30):
if he's going to make the top twenty who once we.
GOT i think he's.

Speaker 5 (14:33):
Referring to the turnaround. Stories, yeah, yeah. Time, Yeah AND
i think people look at that whole, world awful dogfighting,
world in a different. View, Anyways eric And. Iowa you're up. Next,
eric you're, There, Yeah i'm.

Speaker 9 (14:48):
Here thanks for taking my.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Call what's? Up? Eric who you? Got?

Speaker 9 (14:52):
Yeah i'm going to vote For christian. McCaffrey and it's
a close one With Davonte. ADAMS i think this season
spilidified those two as, candidates BUT i Think christian McCaffrey
takes it over.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
Us christian McCaffrey is a dual threat in the running
and receiving threat that he was absolutely who.

Speaker 7 (15:10):
ELSE i feel like people have he became like a hybrid,
player and NOW i see it more and.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
More, Yes but CAN i tell you this of the
top twenty that we had five years? Ago remember in
the first twenty years we had two football players on
the list two.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
And Then Tom brady was one of.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Them And Tom brady was one of, Them so they
don't want to. It so Does christian McCaffrey rise to that?
Level would he be an added if we expanded it
to a twenty? Five i'm not necessarily sure that's the.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Case, YEAH i DON'T i.

Speaker 7 (15:40):
Understand right this, year, RIGHT i was gonna, say because
in the last couple of, years not just this, year
but in the last four or five, Years christian McCaffrey ever,
SINCE i feel like he got to the forty nine,
ers he's, had you, know, success, success AND i don't
know if people expected it because of the injuries and
what he had prior to getting.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
THERE i Think mahomes would make this. LIST i think
the nominee Of mahomes bringing him up would make this.
List and if we expanded it to twenty, FIVE i
think it's a no. Brainer, YEAH i think it's an
absolute no.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
Brainer AND i mentioned one thing about the McCaffrey, thing
and it's gonna be an uncomfortable, point BUT i know
a lot of attention over the last quarter century has
been on the black, quarterback and deservedly. So But christian
McCaffrey thriving at that, position and we could all admit
it's not a position that white players have thrived. At
maybe kind of puts them up at a different. LEVEL

(16:31):
i don't. Know but, anyways how About mike And. Illinois,
mike who's your top athlete of the last quarter?

Speaker 10 (16:37):
CENTURY i don't even think it's A it's first is.
OBVIOUS i don't even think there's a closed. Second how
can it be anybody other Than Yousain bolts aight O'tic
golden medals still holds the world record in the hundred
two hundred and four by one. Relay anybody that doesn't

(16:59):
think it's you, SAY i got to debate.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Them, well you're gonna be, debating and the reason being
IS i don't even THINK i can make him feel
good on. This It's mike And illinois that who it.
Is Usain bolt came in seventh in our list in twenty,
twenty so there were six athletes ahead Of Usain bolt
at that. Time so that was So Usain bolt didn't
make our top. Five he was on the, list he

(17:23):
was top, ten he was.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
Seven by the, way that was the only Time usain
both has ever finished seventh in. Anything but you, Know
mike raises a really interesting point BECAUSE i think you
can lump a couple of other individuals in that sort
of Realm Michael, phelps, Right Serena, Williams, Novak, Djokovic Lionel.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
MESSI i was gonna say Among olympians Like i'm not
even maybe this is me going to The american a
little bit more Than Usain. Bolt but like just in
this few sphere Of, Olympics i'd Have phelps Above Usain bolt, personally.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
But Michael phelps was four on this list on the
other side Of Tiger. Woods so that's Where Michael phelps
was in Our Fox Sports radio list five years. Ago,
NOW i in looking, BACK i can't remember on If
phelps swim in twenty twenty. ONE i don't think he
did In, tokyo but he didn't swim in twenty twenty,

(18:20):
four so there would be no adding to his legend
at this. Point but the hey is in the barn
and his resume speaks for himself as An.

Speaker 7 (18:28):
Olympian since we're on The olympia BECAUSE i just wanted.
It when was the last Time Usain bolt? COMPETED i
think is what The internet is telling, me was twenty?
Seventeen was the last time he? Competed if we're talking About,
olympians isn't it Not Simone?

Speaker 3 (18:40):
Biles, yes, yes, no, yes she's absol in there.

Speaker 7 (18:43):
Because she's current and like not That Usain bolt Or
Michael phelps would not make some sort of list, like,
yes they'll make a list just this, one in particular top,
twenty when it's other sports.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
INCLUDED i don't know if they. Would they wouldn't make a,
list of course they.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
Would. So Simone biles had The twisty's. INCIDENT i believe
that was in twenty twenty one In. Tokyo she comes.
Back she competed in twenty twenty four In. Paris she
was fourteenth on the, list so she would have maybe
have raised up and. Higher she was fourteen on our
list at the, time so she would have had room to.

(19:18):
Grow let's take a couple of more. Calls we'll take
a time. Out we'll take some on the other side as.
Well there have been some names that have made the.
RANKINGS i don't want to completely clutter, it but when
we do have a name pop out that makes our,
Rankings i'll make sure to note of. It who do we?
Else who else do we? Have Jason?

Speaker 5 (19:32):
Patrick? Illinois Patrick?

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Illinois all, Right illinois state to be? Today what's going?

Speaker 6 (19:36):
On?

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Patrick who you got?

Speaker 8 (19:39):
Well based not only on athletic, ability but the fact
that she brought relevance to a quote unquote irrelevant. Sport
i've got to go With Caitlyn.

Speaker 3 (19:49):
Clark, absolutely that's a good.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
One she would be in the top she would make
the top twenty five.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Athletes she would make the top twenty.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Five she didn't play at all last.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Year, yeah it doesn't.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
Matter this is, again this IS i AND i And.
PATRICK i think's point is the popularity of, it and he's, Right, yeah.

Speaker 5 (20:12):
It's more more Than Aaron judge for sure when waiting
for The Aaron judge call to come in to see
but you would you would put her as a top
twenty five athlete Of and we're talking about we just
had was It mike And illinois talk About Usain bolt
to talk about his.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Accomplishments and it's not meant to Disrespect Caitlin clark with the,
accomplishments but the encourt like we are talking about athletes
that have Have she shoots long, threes, right.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
But she she is that popular for.

Speaker 6 (20:46):
HER i know.

Speaker 7 (20:46):
SHETEN i do think she would crack the top twenty.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Five part of it is not just the athletic, achievements though,
significant it's also the, notoriety which is less about the athlete,
themselves then the sports media culture that takes them to another.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
Level of, notarise AND i think that sports media culture informs.
This even with her being out for a year or,
whatever we've kind of hit a Where's poocy moment with
Her where it's just Where's Caitlin? Clark when Is Caitlyn clark?

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Back? What?

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Like why Isn't Caitlyn clark here featured on this or
the other? Thing there's a whole storm around wanting More Caitlyn.
Clark Who's? POOCHY i have no.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
Idea, yeah what's The simpsons? Reference?

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Right, ALSO i Know sam's not, here so that's the only.
ONE i think that none of you Know simpson's.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
References, OKAY i do bet not that, one at Least.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Poochy i'm a little lost On.

Speaker 5 (21:43):
POOCHY i died on his way back to his home.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Plan i'm looking at Just i'm just looking at the
list of accomplished, athletes and there are Enorm this.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
List is Not, SORRY i don't mean to cut you.

Speaker 7 (21:54):
Off you want to change it from not the most
influential athletes of twenty for the last twenty five, years
you want the most accomplished because that is, different.

Speaker 5 (22:02):
Totally, different and you know the language has kind of.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
Changed no One, NO i just never said, influential no.

Speaker 7 (22:11):
INCORPORATION i actually said. Consequential you, said BUT i incorporated
all that into. It, accomplishments influence and WHAT i, like
put it all. Together, sure but if you're, right like
it would change is if we're looking at, SOMETHING i
was looking at it like the whole.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Thing, sure, yeah this is this is also it would
be a three year, window a four year window right
the last two years AT Iowa National championship. Games AND
i know that there was stuff building up to that,
point but in terms of the pure, craze it's been
the last four. Years, yeah so four of the twenty
five years sufficient enough to top to.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
To crack the top twenty.

Speaker 11 (22:48):
Five, Yes Fox Sports radio had the best sports talk

Stewart Chris. Purfett Here not only Was Caitlyn clark continuing
continually being discussed during the, break so Was. Pouci was that?

Speaker 5 (23:27):
It?

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Chris, okay that's. Right so all The simpsons fans can
laugh at us for not knowing. Pooci but The Caitlin
clark conversation is one that continued even during our time.

Speaker 7 (23:38):
Out it, did and you AND i have talked sat
here so many times to Discuss Caitlyn clark in various different,
ways down to who's more.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
Famous, yeah that was the argument that started all And
Jason stewart's the one that said made the point That
Aaron judge And Caitlyn clark were at A yankees game
In Caitlyn clark was the more popular. Figure that's how
it ended up. STARTING i heard that AND i, said,
well she's not more popular Than Aaron.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Judge yes she, is.

Speaker 1 (24:08):
Yes and then it spread like. Wildfire but this isn't
a popularity, contest.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
But it has to be a part of, it though
it can.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Be but when you, don't and this is when you
are talking about gold medals and rings in championships In
hall Of. Fames Caitlin clark's game has not risen to that.
Level so while she may be the most, POPULAR i
don't know how you could take someone Like Simone biles
Or Michael, phelps or even A Steph curry and say

(24:35):
right now That Caitlin clark's within ten spots of, them
or a top twenty five athlete of the last twenty five.
Years you Think Steph curry And Kaitlyn clark are like like,
this And i'm doing an Even.

Speaker 7 (24:44):
STEVENS i don't think THERE'S i THINK i Think. CLAY
i Think Steph curry is for. ME i would even
say top. Ten, OKAY i Think Kaitlyn clark cracks the,
list whether she's the last one or.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Not all, right this is this is WHY i was
love he's the top ten. Quarterback then you start going
through the list of, ten WHICH i always, hate but
we may have to do that here With Kitlyn. Clark
we'll get twenty five athletes because we've got a lot
of nominees waiting on. Hold you want to get to.

Speaker 5 (25:15):
Them luke In, Massachusetts, Luke, luke you're In. Massachusetts go.

Speaker 9 (25:19):
Ahead the fact.

Speaker 12 (25:21):
That we're not talking About Sean white or any any
of The Winter olympic sports is, insane but that man
did in the infancy of a brand new sport is
just unreal and inspired a lot of young kids and
made a huge impact on that Support.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
Sean would you Say Sean white is more influential Than Kitlyn?

Speaker 12 (25:40):
Clark oh god, no but he should be including in
that Fifteen, okay.

Speaker 5 (25:46):
All, RIGHT i love.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
THAT i love that answer that.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
You'll always, find always find where water finds this.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Level, yeah he had me up right to the d
in goddam like he's gonna, say Oh, god, yes, no,
no that turned the. SON i, Sorry Sean white doesn't
make the. LIST i love his passion for it up
Until Caitlyn, clark but an interesting. Nominee who else we Got.

Speaker 5 (26:10):
Jack michael And Georgia. Michael you're?

Speaker 8 (26:13):
Up, Yeah Alexander, OVECHKIN i, mean how can you leave him?

Speaker 1 (26:19):
Out, Okay i'll say, this And i'm glad you Brought
ovechkin Because, OVECHKIN i, remember was just on the outside looking,
in and you take the accomplishments that he had over
the last five. YEARS i Think Sidney crosby was twenty
on our list five years, Ago Sidney crosby was twenty
THAT'S i Think ovechkin would have passed, him, yes and

(26:40):
would have been included on this.

Speaker 7 (26:41):
List and the fact that he's still playing, now we're
still mentioning his. Goals he already broke the, record BUT
i it's, like what is the record going to be
at the end when he was when he's.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Finishing it's a really good nomination and.

Speaker 4 (26:51):
Among his, accomplishments perhaps the greatest championship parade.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Speech of the last quarter, century by the, way it's
a fascinating thing to. BE i think we In america
definitely would care a lot more about A vechkin, two
where it's like something Like crosby winning the UH i
For complexit, medal the gold medal For. Canada like again
we're talking that's like the height Of crosby and it's
kind of come down from, there Whereas avechkin's risen. Up

(27:18):
BUT i would say there's not a lot Of americans
who would care much on that twenty ten gold.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Medal this is this is An american dominated. List LIKE
i will say that there are a few international athletes we.
Mentioned Usaint bolt was on the. List i'll mention another
That isaac mentioned at the, Time Leo messi was. Ninth,
Okay Leo messi was ninth on the.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
List probably still on the. LIST i just think maybe
he's not.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
Ninth, yeah he.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
Was he was, Ninth and since then he has won
A World, cup which he hadn't up until that.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Point that's a really good.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Point and he's.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
Now won In america two WITH. Mls if any much is, That,
yeah they.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Won i'm just saying like they spend all that money
to bring him over here to try to make him
the next big thing.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
In America, JERSEY i really want.

Speaker 5 (27:59):
ONE i did not know.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
That, yes But, alexachkin that's a great. One you know.

Speaker 5 (28:03):
Who's got a great one Is barb And. Illinois we
go back To.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
Illinois, hello, yes please More land Of. Lincoln what's going, On? Barb?

Speaker 13 (28:13):
Hi, Well i'm not A bears. Fan how Sad I'm
Green bay out of the. Way how About rory, McElroy
even though you said it's Mainly, American, Yes.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Rory McElroy would be a good name to, add but
there are players who have more majors Than, rory like
even within this. Generation Phil mickelson does have. Six Brooks
kopka is there with his five, Majors you've got the.
Career Grand slam would be a point where you could

(28:46):
Put rory into that select, group something That phil does not.
Have But rory would be a good. NOMINEE i think
that he would be borderline in.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
THIS i agree with.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
THAT i don't think. THAT i don't know if you
would make the top twenty.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Five Would Scotty scheffler make it over?

Speaker 5 (29:02):
Him?

Speaker 3 (29:02):
No, no you you were still do you think It's.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
Rory scheffler's And? Scheffler really it's because it's been over
the last like four or five, years Like rory had
this you, know. DROUGHT i guess if you, will between
winning The masters this past year and then the last
time he won a, Major so it was like eleven
years of him trying to break through and not being
able to do. IT i think it's a really good.
Nominee ryder cups what he's meant To Team europe in that.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
Fashion, absolutely is it still twenty first century so much
dominated By Tiger woods that would make it hard to put.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Yes anyone up? There, yeah one hundred.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
Percent hey, guys correct me If i'm Wrong And i'm
curious as to where this person was in twenty twenty
and when this was done in twenty. Twenty but have
we talked About Kobe bryant YET Nba, championships gold, medals
sixty point.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
Games, yeah that this was done at the end of
at the end of Twenty, yeah so it was following his.
Passing he was.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
SIXTH i think he would still be on the list
of twenty.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
Five, Absolutely, yes there's this Was this was the Top
So bolt was, Seven kobe was. Six the guys In
isaac mentioned her. Before Serena williams was, Five Michael phelps was,
Four Tiger woods, Three Lebron james, two And Tom brady.
Won that's what it was in twenty. Twenty it Was
december of twenty, twenty late in the year that we

(30:21):
did this. Ranking that's what the top seven. Was we've
named a lot of the. NAMES i can't wait to
tell you the ones that we've left, out which we'll
we'll do here in a. Second but let's take one more.
Call who do we Got Jason.

Speaker 5 (30:32):
Prolific this is the word that comes to. Mind everyone
in The Los angeles market knows his. NAME i think
he calls every radio station in. Town It's solomon From Los.
Angeles welcome to the.

Speaker 6 (30:42):
Show so, yes wow, MAN i am. Honored, Well Happy New,
year w, buddy great. SHOW i loved the coupling of
the three of.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
You thank.

Speaker 6 (30:53):
You sort to store my thunder a little. Bit as
much AS i despise his op court, Antics bron still
goes on that list who has accomplished what he has
at his age in the past a couple of. SEASONS
i don't know if anybody that is that a superban
athlete at his, Age so you gotta put him in

(31:14):
that top?

Speaker 1 (31:15):
List would would you put him at number one Above Tom? Brady?

Speaker 6 (31:20):
Oh? Wow? Possibly And i'll tell you. WHY i, Mean
i'll followed both, sports AND i know the quarterback is,
like you, know the big thing in, football. Right you
Know tom doesn't, block he doesn't you, know he didn't get.
Passes he didn't he wasn't a running, Back, lebron if
you're Ultimate swiss Army, knights who plays all those positions

(31:41):
as good as he does in the in basketball or
in any sport for that, Matter SO i might have
to put him Above. Tom. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Interesting you KNOW i don't like it, Either BUT i
also was, like Does lebron go? Now number? One MAINLY
i was gonna say because he's still actively.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
Playing, sure The Bubble championship was had already. Occurred, yeah
so so that was a part of.

Speaker 7 (32:04):
This it would just be because the scoring title and
you're still actively, playing and we're talking about top. Athletes
so it's Like Tom, brady you're not played, anymore you,
Know Like i'm not saying, yeah you're still in, there
BUT i do think i'd give.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
It here's the, Thing Brady's Super bowl win with The
buccaneers was not included when we did, this.

Speaker 7 (32:21):
So he has so he would have added one.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
More.

Speaker 11 (32:24):
Yeah Fox Sports radio had the best sports talk lineup
in the. Nation catch all of our shows At fox
Sports radio dot com and within The iHeartRadio.

season At sesame dot org because the world Needs sesame
And sesame needs. You we loved having you give your

(32:54):
nominees on athletes of the last twenty five. Years this
kind of going up to what we did five years
ago At Fox Sports radio in the twentieth anniversary of the.
Network we did the top twenty athletes of the previous twenty.
Years curious to see, now who would expand if we
added five more, spots because it's twenty five. Years whose
rankings would change up and? Down Spt legend tweets in

(33:17):
he just Writes. Mayweather Floyd Mayweather junior was tenth on
our list in twenty. Twenty so to fill out the
top ten now we told just seven through, one But
i'll do ten through. One it Was Floyd Mayweather, Junior Leo,
Messi Roger federer was, Eight Usain bolt, Seven Kobe bryant,

(33:38):
Six Serena williams, Five Michael phelps, Four Tiger woods, Three
Lebron james, two And Tom brady. Won so that was
the top ten twenty years.

Speaker 5 (33:47):
Ago wouldn't you say That mayweather And federer are the
opposite Of Caitlin. Clark nobody cares about those two. Guys
they didn't move the needle one, bit but they were most.
Accomplished Caitlin clark is the other end of the SPECTRUMT.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
I disagree with the federer that nobody cared BECAUSE i
actually think he's the most beloved player that we've.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
HAD i think that my only, issue, like because we're
talking about, this this was like five years, ago and
as we moved to twenty twenty, FIVE i feel Like
Floyd mayweather's stock as a name has dropped because once
it was, over nobody's going back and talking about The
Floyd mayweather. Fights nobody's like we were impressed because it
was a it was a streak without, losing but it's

(34:32):
not like there's not like we're going back and watching
it And Jake paul's now the big.

Speaker 7 (34:36):
Thing, WELL i was just about to, say you don't
Think Jake paul actually Makes floyd's stuff better because you're
seeing the joke That Jake paul has made out of the.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Sport BUT i think the problem was That Floyd mayweather
set that up to be the joke because there was
so much About mayweather ducking this fighter and that fat
he didn't Fight Manny pacquiao until they were both old.
Men like it was that that was the Legacy Floyd mayweather,
left which was to crater.

Speaker 7 (35:37):
Cheater Oh Rob, Parker Oh, rob speaking on the table.
Up this set the table up crazy means speaking of.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
Cheaters Barry bonds came in nineteenth on our, List so
about twenty. Twenty Barry bonds was. Nineteenth here was twenty through.
Eleven Sidney, crosby we Mentioned Barry. BONDS nascar Driver Jimmy.
Johnson Mariano rivera was. Seventeenth interesting that very sixteenth Over
jeter Real shaq, Fifteen Simone biles, Fourteen Tim duncan, Thirteen

(36:14):
Christiano ronaldo was, twelve And Peyton manning was.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
ELEVEN i Mean ronaldo might still make this.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
List, yeah he's said it's still kicking. It.

Speaker 7 (36:23):
Yeah and also just because of like the amount of
money With saudio ra you, know like he's still doing,
it so he might still be on.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
It it is still THAT messi Versus ronaldo thing is
still live and is still a big, thing.

Speaker 7 (36:35):
Right is there another baseball player that would make this
list Besides Shoho.

Speaker 5 (36:40):
TAN i can't think of. One there's not one that
would make THE. Us i'm not more popular Than, cork.

Speaker 1 (36:45):
Not in the last five. YEARS i Think Patrick mahomes And.
Shoeotani if we expanded it to twenty five, now maybe
there'd be somebody that would be bumped, Out maybe we
bump Out Sidney crosby and Moving alexander Of, etchkin but
That otani And mahomes would definitely be on the. LIST
i know you guys Love Caitlin, clark but you just
the accomplishments do not match up to the names that

(37:06):
we have talked about over the last sixty.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Minutes but it's not just about. Accomplishments AND i.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
Think that that's the only thing that you have is
the popularity right. Now and these ATHLETES i think had
both Jez, Bonzi I'm. Dan we're not going anywhere. Now
there is the crew here On Fox Sports radio
