Let us know what you're doing, how you're consuming us.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Manci is with us as well, taking me up until
seven pm Eastern time. We did, by the way, we
did the Christmas gifts for your favorite NFL team. We
got a few tweets on that, so maybe we'll revisit
that at the top of the next hour.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Well that said, though, V Yes, double duty man back
to back, back to back four hours of Torres and
VJ Husky here.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
But let's start with what is obviously the big story
of the day. Two NFL games here on a Christmas Wednesday,
the Kansas City Chiefs in Game one took care of
the Pittsburgh Steelers' final score.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
In that game.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
It was a lot to a little twenty nine to
ten is the final. Russell Wilson did have a touchdown run,
but also through an interception in the red zone. That
touchdown run was the only time the Pittsburgh Steelers crossed
the goal line. With the victory, Kansas City clinches the
number one seed in the AFC. Obviously, that means they
(02:13):
will have not only home field advantage, but also that
first round by they need it. They have played a
three games in eleven days, but the Kansas City Chiefs
VJ Husky.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Will be the number one seed in the AFC this sea.
And you know what you gotta do. You gotta go
through arrowhead and listen. I got one team in an
AFC that's got a shot. That's it. I might you
might as well go ahead and pencil and glady, excuse me,
you can sharpie, you can permanent marker the Chiefs definitely
(02:42):
in the ANFC Championship game because no one's gonna come
in there and beat them in a divisional round coming
off of restling during the Wildcar weekend that they're not
quotes who have to participate in. And then you almost
could scribble them in the super Bowl Kansas City at home.
Who's been able to do it one time Joe Burrow.
You know who won't be in the playoffs to do
it this year, Joe Burrow. So good luck to everybody else,
(03:05):
including Josh Allen, MVP sympathetic guy this year. Fine, even
my man Ol Jackson was just telling Aaron during the break,
that's my guy. It's one of my favorite players, might
be my favorite NFL player, but I love it. But
in the cold Arrowhead, all the freaky things that happen,
whether it's a push out of bounds or whether it's
a tug of a jersey, just things just seem to
(03:27):
go right for them there. You know, whether it's the
tackle lining up in the backfield for ninety five percent
of the snaps, I don't know, but you gotta go
there and you gotta deal with it. Man, and I
just today you can see the relief on it. If
it didn't, they look happy talking to whoever. I'm sorry
this outline reporter was during the game, but you know
they had this looked like a like, Okay, we know
(03:51):
over the next month we're home, yep, wearing Arrowhead. You
gotta come deal with our loud fans, our cold weather,
our crack field, our crafty quarterback, our legendary coach. You
can get some good barbecue, why you hear, But that's
the only thing good get when you get here, because
when you come through here, you get your ass handed
to you. And I think that's gonna happen to most teams.
(04:11):
I might give the Ravens a shot, man, but to
me sitting here today Christmas Day, man, you can pin
the Chiefs and AMC Championship game. You can damn it
and put him in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Well, I mean keep in mind the way the Seeds
would hold. If the Seeds hold, they would be playing
Houston in Arrowhead, who they just beat last Saturday. Houston,
of course banged up all sorts of injuries. We know
about the Tank Doll injury that happened last week, so
it's hard to see.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
No, I think it was funny.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
They were showing some postgame locker room stuff on you know,
you can find it on social media, and I think
exactly what you said is it. It's relief, but not
in like the traditional sense that you would think like
there was never a doubt. They've been there, they've done it,
they've won ever, they've whatever. But I think it was
they saw and Patrick Mahomes talked about it.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
The whole team.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
Did they saw this stretch on the schedule When the
schedule came out, It's like, oh, we got to play
on a Sunday and the on a Saturday and then
we play on a Wednesday. And it's like and these
are the crucial games that are gonna determine exactly what
you just said.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
Black Friday two weeks prior before to Stretch Friday.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Yeah, like you're a football coach, you know, Like, Bro,
that routine is so and it's not just a one
Thursday game.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
It's not just a Monday night game here or there.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
It's three games at eleven it's playing on Black Friday,
and then it's playing again three days, three games in
eleven days. I hate to keep harping on it, but
to go from a Sunday to a Saturday to a Wednesday.
And so you could just see in that locker room
just the relief from that team of like, like you said,
it's not only just that we get to host everything
and say, hey, we can rest guys next week. Patrick
(05:41):
Maholmes doesn't have to play on one ankle if he
doesn't want to. They're hosting the BRONC or they're they're
traveling to Denver.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
We would you do just real fast because it's at Denver,
they're still fighting. It's a good defense. Are you telling
Pat Listen?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Man?
Speaker 1 (05:56):
I know you want to play your andy, but I
would out of your hands. You know what I would
do sitting you this week? I would do the old
Popovich like people forget like. So this is one of
my big NBA things that drives me crazy. The load
management stuff. Right, load management, Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Well, the doctor say this, and the analysts analytics say
that load management started as Greg Popovitch just telling his
veterans on the back end of a road trip, Hey,
just just go home, get your rest whatever. We'll see
your practice the day after exactly. And I don't want
to be hyperbolic because this isn't gonna happen. I'd say, Pat,
stay home, don't even get on the flight. Now, that's
not gonna happen. But I would tell him. I would
(06:31):
tell him, put up, yeah, grab a nice warm hoodie,
grab a nice warm sideline jacket. If you want to
come support your guys, that's fine, but don't even bring
your pets.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
You're not playing so equipment guys. Don't pack his stuff exactly?
Do you agree with that? You agree with that? Man?
Keep it my real quick out of me and cut
you off. But no, no, it's that week off.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
And then they would get a bye so you're talking
about three weeks that they wouldn't play where everybody else
stays in a row.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
That's my issue though, is having him three weeks out
that's the problem. I think. I think this week you
play I do. I think because they're so pride that, hey,
we want to we want to sweep the division. We
want to sweep the division. Like there's a pride of
we want to sweep the division again, like we want
to let the AFC West know, Like yeah, yeah, yeah,
(07:16):
Jimmy Burgers, you got something going out there in Inglewood.
But two close games this year for what happened at
the Double Zeros, we have more points and you want
to send a message to Denver. Plus I'll be honest
with you, I need them to beat Denver. So the
Dolphins still got to shot out. We played Cleveland, so
I need him to beat Denver. But if i'm them,
you play him. Andy Reid has historically played as guys
(07:37):
when he's in Philly. The Stars played in the preseason
in Kansas City, the Stars playing the preseason. I'm all
for that. And football is not a game you could
just roll out of bed man and grab your cleats
and bag of Doritos in the juice box and go
play football is don't it? Don't rock like that? And
once you stop playing like a guy that comes up
I r right, takes him a few weeks to kind
(07:57):
of get going. So three weeks is almost close to
I ours.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Four.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
So I think I think you take them, take your
play them. In Denver, It's still it's still a message
you want to send. There's still a professional a professionalism
about it, and there's still a competitiveness about like, hey,
now we're not just gonna get We're not just gonna
give Denver a division win over us. No, we're gonna
go out here and play hard. But I think after that,
you know you'll be good. But I think you still
(08:21):
playing here.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
By the way, really quickly, you don't mean to change
the subject completely, But the Celtics Sixers game has just
tipped off, the third NBA game, Celtics with the green
unis and the guys are wearing red stockings, so uh,
you know, like the the red like leggings so.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Very much in the Christmas spirit over there in Boston.
I'm good on that. Why I'm good, God, there's a screw.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
I'm good on that.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
First of all. See this is something that the NBA does.
Then when they're trying to be cool and they're trying
to be different, why are we wearing dark unis at home? Like,
why it's never been that, it's the white jerseys, it's
the white unis at home. Why are we wearing dark
he's at your own. The dark unis are for the road.
The red thing. It's like, I see, like, I think
(09:05):
that's well. Who there's porks out there that's got one
and I get that kid. You know, guys want to
wear one sleeve on one leg or something like that.
I get the I'm not with it, man, I'm cool
on it. I get it's the Christmas colors, but they
don't have none of the red on the court other
than was that Emirates is now you pronounced that Emirates
the sponsor that you have down there. If anything, if
they kind of would have decorated the court with a
(09:26):
bowl or something, make it made that Christmas Eve, then
I can get it. But just everybody coming out with
these red stocking kind of socks on. Tatum's got like
one on Portzigga's got one on. I get it, but nah,
I'm cool.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
By the way, Kris STAPs porzingis sit and I don't
mean to be sarcastic, but in the least surprising news ever,
looks like he is coming up lame with some sort
of twisted ankle or whatever. He's trying to walk it off.
Hopefully he's fine. Celtics, by the way, three and a
half games back in the Eastern Conference, the Cleveland Cavaliers
are just pacing the entire entire league. Guy, I saw
(09:57):
Donovan Mitchell tweet out yesterday Christmas coming soon or something
like that, basically insinuating, hey, give me another year.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
I'll make sure that we're playing Christmas steak going for so,
I feel you I'll get a chance to see them
up close in person. I'll be Monday, I will be
Lakers Caps fantast I'll be there covering that game. So
I definitely want to see them up close in personal
with the gaps.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Let me ask you back to football, sure, Obviously the
win Casey clinches the number one seed. Pittsburgh three straight
losses during this brutal stretch to kind of end the
back half of the year. By the way, it does
not get easier with their one final game.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
They of course are playing Cincinnati at home to close
out the regular season next week. Uh, Pittsburgh ten and
six now half a game back from Baltimore. Baltimore currently
against the Houston Texans up ten to nothing.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Have we have we seen? I mean we've seen the
best of Pittsburgh R Like like yes, yeah, okay, no no, no,
no door closed, yeah yeah, door close. So yeah, they
get to they're not gonna win a division. They don't
have to go on the road, and they're not going
to Buffalo and winning, and they're not going, now wow,
going to Houston and winning with all the injuries and
the stuff they got going on their CJ. Stroud and
(11:04):
I said this last year when people were banging on
Bryce Young, I'm like, Bryce Young has a very very
bad and horrific situation he's in. Stroud's situation is much
better for a rookie quarterback to be in. But you're
starting to kind of look and go, Okay, I don't
think he's topped out. But I didn't know if Stroud
was the number two pickers high as everybody else loved
(11:24):
them last year. That's not Ohio State thing. That's just
me putting on the tape. I called the kids. I
called two of his high school games when he was
living out here in Rancho, when he's out here in Rancholl,
living in San Bernardino, Valley called two of us high
school games out there. So going into Houston, maybe Pittsburgh's
because defense travels, right, defensive running game travels, so their
defense is gonna show up. It's just can they run
(11:45):
the ball and not turn the ball over. Remember they're
about to score early in the game. Rush doesn't look
off the safety, he throws it right to him. He
throws it right in double coverage, and throws a pick
in the end zone. You would think they're getting three
out of that drive. Now, scores twenty nine to ten
don't make that much of a different in the final score,
But it doesn't make a difference at that point of
the game as far as momentum goes. And then you're
giving the ball back to them. It's different. If you
(12:05):
put points on the board, you have to kick off
and get back to them. But to give the ball
back to the opposing team in the end zone, that's
where you're backing yourself up. And now you're chasing points
and chasing possessions. An the NFL so cool year, they're
gonna have to figure out what quarterback they can't move
forward him next year. I think this is a one
year thing, even with Fills. Fields is a free agent,
if I'm not mistaken, this last year dead so Fields
(12:26):
is a free agent. So Pittsburgh was gonna be resetting
completely again from the quarterback position what they've been seemingly
doing for the last three to four years. But yeah,
they're done really quick.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
With Casey getting that number one seed, we assume it'll
probably be either Baltimore or Buffalo going in the arrowhead
for me AFC Championship game. Yeah, who would you like
in that hype? Who would you like more to take
down Kansas City in that hypothetical matchp more?
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Okay, be more. I need Lamar Jacks to do it.
I need because I've said this to you and I
have said to everybody else on Fox Sports Radio anytime
people hear me talk about it. The Buffalo Bills windows
closed to win the Super Bowl. Yes, still winning eleven
or twelve games, Yes, still win a playoff game. Yes,
Josh Allen will score forty points a couple of times
a year. Yet they will do all of that. But
I'm talking about holding the Lombardi. That's different. Their window
(13:12):
closed that last shot they had. I go back to
the divisional game, the thirteen second game you blew and
Josh Allen played tremendous that day. That game got Gabe
Davis paid four touchdown catches that day. Right, he wanted
a free agent elect But when he became a free agent,
what Jacksonville give him? How much we heard from him
Jacksonville this year? Right, Okay, one game got that man
paid and he ain't done nothing with that money since
(13:33):
he's been down in Jacksonville. But that was the year.
That was the year, they think, because they would have
beat everybody else in the AFC and got into a
super Bowl. If you still just have to go through
Pat Mahoney in the postseason, Josh Is shown you he
can beat you in October. He could beat him in November.
He could beat him in September, he could beat him
in December. You know when he can't beat him, he
can't beat him in January. So I would much rather
(13:54):
see a rematch of last year because I don't know
what the play call it was for the Ravens. Last
year an AMC Championshi game number one running team in
the last twenty four months at that point in the
AFC Championshi game, last twenty four months, last two years,
and you wanted to try to prove that you had
a pocket.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
No, it almost was like it was almost like Ohio
State Michigan this year. Right Like Ryan Das saw that tweet.
I saw that tweet that you put out. Yeah, you said,
oh yeah, no, yeah, but I didn't even equate it
in my head until right now. But that's now thinking
about it, it's like it felt like they were trying
to like they were trying to prove no, no, no,
we could do this, just like you could do that,
rather than and it completely got away from who they
(14:30):
were and it was the same.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
I'm just using the Ohio State Michigan No, No, that was
tweet when you tweeted it, Yeah, because it was. It
was perfect cause I dude, I'm sitting there thinking, God,
they keep throwing to the perimeter. We're gonna get killed,
killed because we don't have Will Johnson. We don't like
our secondary was in. But they wanted to prove we
can line up with you, and we can, dude, we
have two first round draft picks strength. Mason Graham is
(14:52):
going top six. I know that's that's the guy you're running.
That's the guy you do. You want to prove with
this center that ain't making it to the NFL. Okay,
go ahead, yeah running, I know. I'm with you. They
want to prove lamarket No exactly. Let Lamar be. It's
the AMC Championship game. If any game, just go to
him and say, hey, man in the locker room you
just smiping on, say hey, get trust you, He'll get this.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
I remember, I feel I believe I was filling in
for Mark Willard that day because I think Willard was
coming Willer guy. And I just remember because yeah, the
Niners were playing the late game, and I just remember
being on air and it was more of a last
year to me. It was more of a Todd Monken
than a Lamar Jackson thing, of course, and it was
just you know, you hope they've learned. I think Munkins
(15:37):
said something about I can't even remember he said something
recently about the things that they learned from that game.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
And Aaron go ahead, No, yeah, I mean we'll see much.
We'll get to that game. I Aaron, watch, We'll get
to that game and Derrick henriill have thirteen damn carries.
Better not watch AFC Championship game in Arrowhead. You go
to Derek in the locker room and you look him
in the eye and man the man and go, hey,
big dog, we ride twenty five today. Can you give
(16:04):
me twenty five not twenty twenty five times? Sure, we're
turning and handing it to you and then Lamar ten
to fifteen. You can win. But if you go in there, oh,
we can throw the zaying, we can throw the bateman,
and we can throw to Andrew. Now mind you they
have Andrews for that game last year. He was already
with kne injuries, already out. But if you turned, you
handed that guy bro and Lamar does his thing RPO,
(16:25):
you can get you can you can get it. How
how much are you worried about the Chris Jones is?
We haven't talked about that at all with today's precautionary
or could it beat something there? With this? Tell you what?
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Why don't we come back? We talk about just that.
This is the Coveno and Rich show. Covino and Richer,
out Eron Torres and j Husky are filling in until
seven pm. Easter Time. Will come back. Talk a little
bit about the Chris Jones injury. There are a couple
college football topics I do want to get to. Oh,
we'll discuss all that next. This is the Coveno Rich Show.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Welcome back, everybody. This is the Coveno and Rich Show.
Cavino and Rich are out. Aaron Torres, VJ Husky are in.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Yeo VJ.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Real quick deserve Chris Jones. You wanted to mention it
out today with a calf injury. What are your thoughts
on what is obviously outside of Patrick Mahomes just a
cruise probably the most crucial piece.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
On the Kansas City Chiefs. Yeah, well, here's the thing.
Calves are funny. Right, We've seen guys have a calf
and be back the next week. Did We've seen guys
have a calf and they're out for three four weeks?
Calves are funny. It's a funny muscle as far as uh,
you know it, getting he getting healed, like healing and
being healthy enough for you to play today. I was
just questioning, was it precautionary or is there some are
(17:51):
he just or he couldn't go because they do have
time going into the playoffs. But now that you have
this calf, and we talked about them playing an arrowhead
and it's cold and narrowhead, and which means you gotta
warm up longer, you gotta get more heat, you know,
heat treatment before the game. And he'd imp to get
those muscles warm because one of those muscles going to
cold like a calf, you could be done for the
rest of the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
And he is.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
I will take Pat out of it because I don't
even think it's fair to even mention him. He's the
most important person on the on the team. He's the
reason why Shanahan doesn't have a ring. He's the reason
why brock Perty missed two open receivers and Deebo when
we want some of Debo was wide open in the
fourth quarter streaking into the end zone. He's solely the
reason why you gotta block this guy with two and
(18:34):
three guys. Sometimes I just it's it's something that just
kind of what talked about a lot today because it
get twenty nine to ten. You know, I'm saying you
ain't got to talk about much, but moving forward, you
gonna you're gonna need Chris Jones. I just want to
know if you thought it was a you know, big
thing that he didn't play, or just you know, car
sary or you know, to be back type of duale.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
Yeah, I think you know, uh one, let's be honest.
To be honest, like, so we were talking about Mahomes
and Willie play next week. Don't you think Andy Reid
kind of knew like we don't need like we don't
have to be all hands out like you. Yeah, you
want guys to play, but it's a calf injury. If
you win this game, you get home field advantage, you
(19:12):
get number one seed.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
So he basically now gets a month off because Chris
Chris Jones. Now, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, he can rest exactly.
He can. Yeah, a guy like him can rest.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
And he's you know the other thing about him, he's
thirty thirty, almost thirty one years old.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
I mean, he's not twenty four anymore.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
And so to me, it's just one of those like
I certainly think it's a big deal that not that
he didn't play, but that he's obviously been a little
bit banged up each of the last two years. But
for today, like I don't know that it raises this
huge red flag to me because he wasn't on the
field today, especially knowing you win today, clinch that number
one seed, get home field advantage, you get an extra
(19:49):
two weeks off because you're not gonna play him next week,
you get it by the following week.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
It's just doesn't feel okay.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
It's an important injury, but it isn't so thing that
because he didn't play today that I'm super concerned about.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
And like you said, he gets a month. A d
tackle can get a month off to get back on
the field because he didn't player. He don't have to
play every down. He could pay himself. But he's a vet.
He's a big money guy. He's a max deal guy.
He he knows his body. He knows he'll know how
to get in the playoff game and when to explore
the when to push the poker to win, to go
all you know, all out, pin his ears back, go
get the quarterback type of deal, or when to just
(20:23):
play your own help on the run. He'll be able
to pay himself I just I thought to my question
was just simply today precautionary or is it something bid?
Do we hear two three weeks from not like leading
to the divisional game, because that's why you're next time
we're gonna see him. Is it questionable? He's like, oh, whoa,
he's still questionable. That was four That was four weeks ago.
That was literally a month ago. Oh wow, so that
(20:46):
thing must have been yeah, well, you know it was
a little more old. There was a setback, like you
know that setback word kind of pause. I saw it
just just some newsworthy to just kind of keep an
eye on. I think they could even win the divisional
game without him, But you know, going against Josh Allen
or l Jacks in the AMC Championship game, I think
you might want number ninety five on the field. Think
you might want number ninety five.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
By the way, I think I jumped the gun a
little bit Celtic's seventy six ers. I saw Kristaps porzingis
limping around. He was fine after that. So whatever whatever
negative energy I put out there, it wasn't that big
of a deal. He seems to be fine. Tell you what,
let's get it over the news desk. We'll come back,
we'll talk a little college football.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
But I love the way she says their name. Go ahead, no,
Mazi dah.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
I'm gonna guess that Chris Jones is okay.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
And it was on a short a short week, so.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
I got you.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
Now, it will be interesting.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
You're right if we hear that he's still questionable in
a little bit. Uh Ian Rappaport tweeted that the Chiefs
will likely sit players for their next game against the
Broncos as they head into the playoffs, because yeah, why not.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Do you sit Mahomes? Yes or no players? I get,
but Mahome the whole game?
Speaker 4 (22:00):
Okay, I think he should go out startstof he one
thousand percent should start. I feel like you have to
kind of go This sounds silly, the motions of the game.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
You gotta get up, you gotta get dressed.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Yeah, you gotta go on the field.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
You gotta you actually, like, I think that's what he
needs to do.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
You gotta take a few hits too. You got to
take a few hits.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
You have to actually do it.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
And I I bench, like you said, not bench, but
sit Chris Jones.
Speaker 5 (22:23):
Let him rest.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Yeah, but like Mahomes should play, Kelsey should play a
little bit, like they should.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
Get out there.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Him sitting in Kelsey see him a little bit. I
could see him saying, like Woods, Kelsey McDuffie. I'd said
those I'd said those guys.
Speaker 5 (22:37):
You would sit those guys.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
But Mahomes like a quarter and a half away, get
out there.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Yeah, I mean, we'll see what they do, right, We'll
see what they do. But yes, the Chiefs are the
number one seed in the AFC first round by coming
their way. If you want to go to the super Bowl,
you gotta get through Kansas City, basically out of the AFC.
Twenty nine to ten was the final score against the Steelers.
Patrick Mahomes twenty nine of thirty eight, three hundred and
twenty yards on a hat trick three touchdowns, one of
(23:01):
them did go to Travis Kelcey. That's a seventy seven
touchdown reception, which is the most in Kansas City history,
topping Tony Gonzalez who had seventy six.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
Now he has seventy seven. It's his eighth season with one.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
Thousand yards and becomes a third tit in an NFL
history with a thousand career receptions Travis Kelcey Russell Wilson
in the lost twenty three of thirty seven two hundred
and five yards in a reception one rushing touchdown, and
NFL media tweeted this, they got this from Netflix, So
that game apparently. Netflix says that over two hundred countries
tuned in at some point to watch that game.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
I had a million's number. I have the number, yeah,
I know, but that's the one I'm waiting on, you know, men,
I need for sure how many millions watched it as
all VJ needs the numb for sure.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
I think I'm assuming we'll get that by the end
of the day.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
And then this That game is already the second most
popular live you know show on Netflix to date, the
second most popular.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
I'm assuming the first one was that fight.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
I was about to say, yeah, I didn't say.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
I didn't say it in there, but I'm assuming it
was a fight.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
People in the world watch too. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
And so right now we've got the all right Texans
on the scoreboard because my stupid streaming wool is yours working.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Mine's done, n hasn't skipped it, all, hasn't rocked at all.
Speaker 5 (24:12):
Mine, it's not even working.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Yeah, no, I'm here.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
We're having trouble playing this for you right now, select
a different title.
Speaker 5 (24:18):
Thank you so much, Netflix.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
So it looks like the Texans just got a safety,
so they're on the scoreboard. The Ravens are up though,
ten to two early in the second quarter.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
In the NBA five games on.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
This Christmas Day, seventy six ers on top of the
Celtics twenty eight twenty five. They're about to end the
first quarter, while the Knicks top the Spurs at Madison
Square Garden one seventeen to one fourteen, and the Timberwolves
they let the MAVs get back in the game. They
were up by twenty two to start the fourth quarter,
and the MAVs brought it within three, but Minnesota held on.
They won it one oh five to ninety nine. Luka
(24:49):
Doncic did leave the game in the second quarter never
returned because of a left calf strain.
Speaker 5 (24:53):
Talking about Chris Jones and his capstrain.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Anthony Edwards led the way from Minnesota with twenty six
points and eight rebounds in a losing effort.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
Kyrie Irving had thirty nine points.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
Other little tidbits in the NFL that you should know
about Eagles quarterback Jaillen hurts to not practice today due
to his concussion.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
Just something to keep an eye on.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
Seahawks have ruled out running back Kenneth Walker, the third
for Thursday's game that's tomorrow against the Bears.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
Too much football, Yes, back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Too much football if you missed it during the Doug
Galluy Show, we had a lot a lot to say
about that, and I think Matzi might be honest, and
we all love football, but it's just too much today.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Saturday, Sunday, it's just period.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday Sunday. That's seven Like
you know, the Chiefs played three games e eleven days.
That's like my math is right, that's seven out of
nine days.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
We have NFL football when we're supposed to be spending
time with family, Like and Aaron and I were talking
to one of the commercial breaks too. Even the college
football playoff. I would be okay if they started it
this coming weekend. Like, give you like three weeks from
the conference championship. Did we get the Heisman? Right? Got
the Army Navy and then we got the Highs on
the same Saturday. Give us back to back saturdays off.
(26:05):
Give us, I think, give college football, give us a
chance to breathe. So then we die, right, So then
it's like, oh, man, now now I'm juiced, I'm ready,
I'm ready to go. And now we get the first
round of the college Football Playoff, then the semi, then
the quarters, then the semis then yeah, and then finish
it off at the end of what's the January twentieth
this year is the National Championship Game? I didn't I
wouldn't care, bro if they put the National Championship Game
(26:26):
to like like right before the Super Bowl, Sure, give
it to the Riot. Why why not you only it's
only two teeth nil and all the money stuff. I
don't want to hear about class I want to hear
about the exams. I don't want to hear about nine of it.
I don't get that out of my face. Give me,
give it to me how I want it. Yeah, get
out of my face, man. I actually I want to
ask you college football question next. Let's go. Let's go.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
So you know you you host with Martin Weiss eight
to eleven Eastern, five to eight Pacific, and I host.
I'm out after you on Saturday's eleven pm Eastern time,
and so me and Jason Martin were basically the first
guys to react to the Ohio State win in real time.
You guys, the game was over while you guys were
It wasn't like technically over, but it was unofficially over
(27:08):
pretty early.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
You guys are the official college football post game show,
because it's all done when you guys get on. Martin
and I kind of clean up the end of it,
no no doubt.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
And here's my question for you, and I'll be curious
because we were on not only after Ohio State won.
We did all of our conversations on Ohio State, but
we were then on when it came out that Ohio State.
You mentioned that the games don't pick up again for
the playoff until December thirty first and January first, so
next Tuesday, Wednesday. But I bring it up because j
mart and I were on air and we find out
(27:38):
that Ohio State is actually a small favorite over the
number one seed Oregon Ducks. And I'm curious for you.
You're a big ten guy. You know the Big ten
really well. I was actually surprised by that, and I
guess my question for you are we getting a little
too excited about an Ohio State went over Oregon and
an Ohio State went over Tennessee. And let me explain,
is that Ohio State this year best win of the
(28:01):
year Penn State. They immediately struggle, almost loose to nebraskat home.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Then you beat Indiana top ten team. Oh my god,
they just showed Kurt Signetty this that. Then they lose
to Michigan at home. And I guess my point is.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
This, Throughout Ryan Day's career, we've seen moments where he
can get his team to rise to.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
The occasion, except against Michigan. But that's another conversation.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
But I bring it up because I don't know that
I believe that just because they were great against Tennessee
that they're gonna play four straight games in this college
football playoff and be awesome.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Man. So I'll take off the Jimmy Burgers, the Wolverine,
the Big House, Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson had all my
Michigan has that where I'll take him all off and
just twelve real brass tax football here. Other than Michigan.
He's forty three and three at the man could coach
I did? The guy could coach, but he just can't
beat his rival. So John Cooper could coach, he just
(28:53):
couldn't beat his rival. You know they're there. Brandy Hoak
was a good coach, just couldn't beat his rival. You
know it happens this game. I'll be real, man, I
see why they're a small favorite. I really do. When
you do put the tape on sometimes, dude, who are
you stopping? They do have guy after guy after god.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
And they actually got the ball to them against Tennessee
last year.
Speaker 1 (29:14):
So got the ball. They just stayed on the perimeter.
You got these receivers, You got these backs, junkins out
of the backfield, junkins left, juggins right. My only question,
It has been my question all year long, back to
spring ball, because when you're coming out of spring ball
in college football and you don't announce your quarterback, I
automatically take you out of the national championship game. Because
(29:36):
if you don't know who your quarterback is coming out
of spring ball in March, April and May, then you're
not winning the national championship that year. You gotta know
who your guy is then, I mean, he got all
the first team reps, he got all the paraderie. They
all know who the leader is. They all know who
the quarterback is. They all know who QB one is.
It's no discussion. They know who their guy is. Will
Howard will throw this game away if he's given the
(29:58):
opportunity to said it against Oregon the first time they
play Oregon. Our producer in for the show, sitting here
right now, he heard me say this, he'll give the
game away. What did he do? Give the game away?
Ohio State? I said the knight that already, and I
feeled in that Friday night. Then Bernie Fridle called in.
I told him exactly how this game was gonna go
against Michigan. They're gonna try to run the football. We're
gonna stop the run Wild Russia, and Will Howard will
(30:21):
give the game up. I still feel that way about
this Oregon game. Oregon's got a really good defense that's
just not talked about because they're Oregon and were enamored
with more other Georgia and Texas and somebody either Nordre Dame,
some of these other schools. Even Jens's got everybody's attention
with his Russian problems with Boise State. But I can
see why they are a short favor, but if the
(30:43):
game is in Will Howard's game in the fourth quarter,
mark my words, he's going to give the game up.
If he doesn't do that, Ohio State wins and moves on.
If he does that, Oregon slides by them again and
then moves on to play who I believe.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Will be Texas because Texas Arizona's correct, it is Texas
Arizona State out o that side of the bracket. Yeah, real quick,
So do you now that we've done a you know,
a weekend of this, do you believe that we do
need to change anything in the bracket? And more specifically,
I think the thing that a lot of people are
(31:17):
frustrated with, and I actually do understand it, and I
only bring it up because we are getting Ohio State
Oregon and then Texas obviously would likely face the winner
of that game after playing Arizona State. Do you think
we need to get rid of the automatic buys for
conference champions No?
Speaker 1 (31:33):
I think you should be rewarded for playing all through
the season and then get into the conference championship game,
then having a week to prepare for that, and then
sometimes playing the team you already played. And we always
say it was one of the hardest things of doing football.
Beat the same team twice, and in the NFL is
beat the same time team three times if you beat
them twice in the record season, but they both make
the playoffs. Like we're gonna see that with the NFC
North right, three teams are getting in. Somebody's beating somebody
(31:55):
already before. No, I think it's fine. I just my
own selfish reasons. It's just my own And maybe I
should have prefaced that the other day when we were
on and we talked about this with bo uh. I
just when you get to in the twelve team format
and Ian, this might be you hearing this new first time.
I just feel like in a in a in a
fourteen twelve teen format, when you get to ten, eleven
and twelve, just give me, just give me the start,
(32:17):
Just give me the stars and the brands, man, because
twelve teams don't have a legitimate shot. But yes, I'll
take Alabama, I'll take Oh Miss, I'll take Colorado over
Indiana and and and SMU. I'm sorry you had a
cute little season. I get it, but at this point,
none of you guys are winning this anyway. And on
the back end, So give me, give me the brands,
at least the tune in the watch. That's the only
thing I would change. I would maund Aaron and I
(32:37):
know it's probably fools goal, but I wouldn't mind if
someone in the committee say, look, guys, let's listen to
Alabama in there. Let's put Jalen mil Roe in Alabama here. Guys.
It's not like they're a better brand, they're better team's
gonna bring us more on This is all about money anyway.
So that's the only thing I would change. I'm fine
with it, man, because well, we're all gonna have something
to say about it right on the negative side. Yeah,
(32:58):
and I did.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
I thought, and we talked about this a little bit
when we filled in this spot for Covino and Rich
the other day of I didn't like that this weekend
was supposed to be a celebration of college football and
the people who have the biggest voices in the sport
just complain the whole time. By the way, keeping the
updated on the Ravens Texans game, Texans were on the
goal line, went for it on fourth down about five
(33:19):
minutes left before the half. Baltimore does get the stop
and a ball back. Baltimore up ten to two.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Do you kick that three?
Speaker 3 (33:27):
Right?
Speaker 1 (33:27):
Don't you take that three right there? Yeah? Yeah, we're
live on air.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
We got buffering issues everything, so we're gonna try to
figure out in real time what the heck just happened.
But that did feel kind of weird that they did
not go for it. But I'll tell you what, we
could come back and discuss that. This is the Coveno
and Rich Show. Covino and Rich are out. They will
be in for Dan Patrick tomorrow morning. J Husky aeron
tours taking you till seven pm Eastern time. Come back
react a little bit to this game. Also, you sent
(33:53):
me a very interesting story from Dion Sanders and Colorado
as they get set for the Almo Bowl this weekend.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
We will discuss that next. This is the Coveno on
Rich Show.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports radio

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Welcome back everybody, Covino, Rich Show, Aaron Torres, Fiji Husky
in for the guys. I'll be honest, Profet, I have
not heard this song not a long time, long.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
Time, in a long time, and a long time, if
I could go. The first time I heard the song,
my family and I were driving to Jersey from Virgina,
Jersey to go to my grandmother's house of England, New Jersey.
The song comes on. I can remember me and my
brother in the backseat over and going listen, line hold on.
I didn't realize this line hold on, this this part.
Oh wow. He knew they knew watching football on Christmas.
(34:48):
He knew you guys remember there's a movie of this
of this song. Yes, exactly, But dude, I remember just
leaning up and asking my stepdad Glenn. I'm like, what
did you put it on? He goes, that's on the radio.
We thought it was a joke song, and I remember
him turning it up and we're hearing his you know,
grandma got ran over my rein there. It's like, what
the hell is? But God, what you air? I haven't
(35:11):
heard this song in maybe fifteen twenty years. It's been
a minute. But the minute that comes on, you know
the words ball park. I didn't know that.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Yeah, well I just know the hook. I just I
have it up on Spotify and I saw the like
the lyrics scrolling by and I saw football. I'm like,
oh my who Simpsons Simpson Simpsons type stuff, right, No,
you believe that too? What all the stuff that they do? Yeah, Simpsons,
time Travelers, their time. Come on, you can't predict the
stuff they put. Guys, you're right, you're right, got super Bowls,
(35:42):
President's president elections in pay come on, you're right. Come on,
like the Time Travelers. I don't believe in the moon,
and I believe the Simpsons and time Travelers deal with
the people.
Speaker 2 (35:53):
Covino on The Rich Show. That's VJ Husky right there,
conspiracy theory. J Husky Yeah, I'm Marritorius. By the way,
tweeted us if you want to get on the show
at Aaron Underscore Torres at Big Vanilla Funny top of
next hour. We did this when we filled in for
Doug Gottlieb earlier in the afternoon. We will go through
our Christmas wish list for NFL teams. What do we
want to give them this holiday season that will either
(36:15):
help them in their present or future. Fun segment will
revisit it and we'll take some of your calls as well.
Really quickly, we were talking college football playoff a minute ago.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
VJ.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Interesting story came out yesterday on Colorado Buffalo So Colorado. So,
first of all, what's just cool about this is one
that there was never hesitation from Shador Sanders or Travis
Hunter that they were even going to play in this
Alamo Bowl. The game is on Saturday night, and you know, listen,
(36:46):
bottom line is, you know we live in this world
where players opt out of bowl games all the time
that aren't in the playoff. Coach Prime said the second
that that Oklahoma State game went final. Our boys playing
bowl games. We start where we finish. But what is
actually very cool that the Colorado Athletic Department they have
taken out the largest insurance premium pretty much that's ever
(37:08):
been done. So I'll try to be quick on this,
but basically, when you have both, when you have really good.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Players, and I think this goes back to years.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
I remember Brady Quinn, I believe, talking about this during
his own college career, so this is a long.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Time ago now.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
But the school or whoever can take out an insurance
policy to protect you in case of injury.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
If I'm reading this correctly.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Colorado took out insurance policies for its entire roster for
the Alamo Bowl, and then Shador Sanders and Travis Hunter, who,
as Coach Prime will tell you could very well be
the number one and number two picks in the draft,
will get the biggest disability insurance ever.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
It's basically just protecting these guys.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
If God forbid, and we're all praying everything goes fine,
but if God forbid, something happens. Essentially, it sounds as
though these players, those two players specifically, will be set
financially for the rest of their lives if they have
some sort of injury that keeps him from playing football.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
This this to me, man, It's just It's why I
love Coach Prime. This is why jokingly called myself coach
Prime Husky. I had my Birmingham Patriot High School team
referring to me as Coach Prime Husky. I brought the
glasses and warmed and practice and and and I talked
about God and I didn't cust it the kids like
I was mirroring Coach Prime. Man. This guy he gets it.
(38:29):
Get let go people that don't like him. I just
gotta say this real quick, for everybody that's still hating
on his man, let go of the nineties, Please let
go of him. Throwing the ice water and Tim McCarver,
Tim McCarver, RP. But you shouldn't have called the man selfish.
His mama heard his feeling. She called her son and
told us something about it. That's just what happens, bro.
The mama gonna tell the son, The son gonna come
deal with all right, But let let go what you
didn't like about Dion thirty years ago. It's old people,
(38:52):
it really is. It's childish, is immature, and it's uncalled
for what this man is doing. He is leading young men,
He is talking about his faith openly. Everybody. Did you
hear what Travis Hunter said to this man at the
Heisman who was sitting up there with him at the
hest his coach Prime was just what he's doing and
setting the standard and setting records and this, like you said,
(39:14):
the largest insurance policy ever. Jimmy Burgers is my god,
ain't never done that. Bobby Bowden, my gut, ain't never
done that. We talk about all these other Nick Saban everybody,
I ain't never heard Nick Saban do nothing like this.
And I'm not trying to pick on it. I'm just
saying they didn't do it, and he did it and
got it done as you just read, for the for
the whole come on for the whole roster. That's humanitarian
(39:37):
type stuff. Guys, Get off Prime, stop hating, just enjoy
this man and take him in for what he's doing
right now. And this is just to me, man, this
is why I text this. Guys. See when I woke
up and read this, and this is why I texted
to you. But when I woke up and read this, bro,
I'm like, God, this is why I love this due man.
That's why I'm trying to pattern myself as a coach
after a man like this man. Congratulations, saw all those
kids in Colorado, by the way, the least they could
(39:58):
do for Coach Prime. I read it.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
Stat he's brought in two hundred and eighty million dollars
of revenue for the Colorado University of Colorado. Brahmton, Yes, Covino,
Rich Show, Ara Torres, VJ Husky, one hour left Christmas Gifts,
Fox Sports Radio
