But let's start with what is obviously the big story
of the day. Two NFL games here on a Christmas Wednesday,
the Kansas City Chiefs in Game one took care of
the Pittsburgh Steelers' final score.

In that game.

It was a lot to a little twenty nine to
ten is the final. Russell Wilson did have a touchdown run,
but also through an interception in the red zone. That
touchdown run was the only time the Pittsburgh Steelers crossed
the goal line. With the victory, Kansas City clinches the
number one seed in the AFC. Obviously, that means they

will have not only home field advantage, but also that
first round by they need it. They have played a
three games in eleven days, but the Kansas City Chiefs
VJ Husky.

Will be the number one seed in the AFC this sea.
And you know what you gotta do. You gotta go
through arrowhead and listen. I got one team in an
AFC that's got a shot. That's it. I might you
might as well go ahead and pencil and glady, excuse me,
you can sharpie, you can permanent marker the Chiefs definitely

in the ANFC Championship game because no one's gonna come
in there and beat them in a divisional round coming
off of restling during the Wildcar weekend that they're not

they had this looked like a like, Okay, we know

gotta come deal with our loud fans, our cold weather,
our crack field, our crafty quarterback, our legendary coach. You
can get some good barbecue, why you hear, But that's
the only thing good get when you get here, because

to you. And I think that's gonna happen to most teams.

I might give the Ravens a shot, man, but to
me sitting here today Christmas Day, man, you can pin
the Chiefs and AMC Championship game. You can damn it
and put him in the Super Bowl.

would hold. If the Seeds hold, they would be playing

Yeah, like you're a football coach, you know, Like, Bro,
that routine is so and it's not just a one

It's three games at eleven it's playing on Black Friday,
and then it's playing again three days, three games in
eleven days. I hate to keep harping on it, but

it's not only just that we get to host everything
and say, hey, we can rest guys next week. Patrick

best of Pittsburgh R Like like yes, yeah, okay, no no, no,
no door closed, yeah yeah, door close. So yeah, they
get to they're not gonna win a division. They don't
have to go on the road, and they're not going
to Buffalo and winning, and they're not going, now wow,
going to Houston and winning with all the injuries and
the stuff they got going on their CJ. Stroud and

Bryce Young, I'm like, Bryce Young has a very very
bad and horrific situation he's in. Stroud's situation is much
better for a rookie quarterback to be in. But you're
starting to kind of look and go, Okay, I don't

them last year. That's not Ohio State thing. That's just
me putting on the tape. I called the kids. I
called two of his high school games when he was
living out here in Rancho, when he's out here in Rancholl,

school games out there. So going into Houston, maybe Pittsburgh's
because defense travels, right, defensive running game travels, so their
defense is gonna show up. It's just can they run

about to score early in the game. Rush doesn't look
off the safety, he throws it right to him. He
throws it right in double coverage, and throws a pick
in the end zone. You would think they're getting three

But it doesn't make a difference at that point of
the game as far as momentum goes. And then you're
giving the ball back to them. It's different. If you

and get back to them. But to give the ball
back to the opposing team in the end zone, that's
where you're backing yourself up. And now you're chasing points
and chasing possessions. An the NFL so cool year, they're
gonna have to figure out what quarterback they can't move
forward him next year. I think this is a one
year thing, even with Fills. Fields is a free agent,
if I'm not mistaken, this last year dead so Fields

is a free agent. So Pittsburgh was gonna be resetting
completely again from the quarterback position what they've been seemingly
doing for the last three to four years. But yeah,
they're done really quick.

for me AFC Championship game. Yeah, who would you like

I need because I've said this to you and I
have said to everybody else on Fox Sports Radio anytime
people hear me talk about it. The Buffalo Bills windows
closed to win the Super Bowl. Yes, still winning eleven

Josh Allen will score forty points a couple of times
a year. Yet they will do all of that. But
I'm talking about holding the Lombardi. That's different. Their window

Josh Allen played tremendous that day. That game got Gabe
Davis paid four touchdown catches that day. Right, he wanted

paid and he ain't done nothing with that money since

That was the year, they think, because they would have
beat everybody else in the AFC and got into a
super Bowl. If you still just have to go through

can beat you in October. He could beat him in November.

in December. You know when he can't beat him, he
can't beat him in January. So I would much rather

see a rematch of last year because I don't know

Real quick deserve Chris Jones. You wanted to mention it
out today with a calf injury. What are your thoughts
on what is obviously outside of Patrick Mahomes just a
cruise probably the most crucial piece.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
On the Kansas City Chiefs. Yeah, well, here's the thing.
Calves are funny. Right, We've seen guys have a calf
and be back the next week. Did We've seen guys
have a calf and they're out for three four weeks?
Calves are funny. It's a funny muscle as far as uh,
you know it, getting he getting healed, like healing and
being healthy enough for you to play today. I was
just questioning, was it precautionary or is there some are

he just or he couldn't go because they do have
time going into the playoffs. But now that you have
this calf, and we talked about them playing an arrowhead
and it's cold and narrowhead, and which means you gotta
warm up longer, you gotta get more heat, you know,
heat treatment before the game. And he'd imp to get
those muscles warm because one of those muscles going to
cold like a calf, you could be done for the
rest of the playoffs.

And he is.

I will take Pat out of it because I don't
even think it's fair to even mention him. He's the
most important person on the on the team. He's the
reason why Shanahan doesn't have a ring. He's the reason

reason why you gotta block this guy with two and

To be honest, like, so we were talking about Mahomes

want guys to play, but it's a calf injury. If
you win this game, you get home field advantage, you

huge red flag to me because he wasn't on the
field today, especially knowing you win today, clinch that number
one seed, get home field advantage, you get an extra

two weeks off because you're not gonna play him next week,
you get it by the following week.

It's just doesn't feel okay.

It's an important injury, but it isn't so thing that
because he didn't play today that I'm super concerned about.

And like you said, he gets a month. A d
tackle can get a month off to get back on
the field because he didn't player. He don't have to
play every down. He could pay himself. But he's a vet.
He's a big money guy. He's a max deal guy.
He he knows his body. He knows he'll know how
to get in the playoff game and when to explore
the when to push the poker to win, to go
all you know, all out, pin his ears back, go
get the quarterback type of deal, or when to just

play your own help on the run. He'll be able
to pay himself I just I thought to my question
was just simply today precautionary or is it something bid?
Do we hear two three weeks from not like leading
to the divisional game, because that's why you're next time
we're gonna see him. Is it questionable? He's like, oh, whoa,
he's still questionable. That was four That was four weeks ago.
That was literally a month ago. Oh wow, so that

a little more old. There was a setback, like you
know that setback word kind of pause. I saw it
just just some newsworthy to just kind of keep an
eye on. I think they could even win the divisional
game without him, But you know, going against Josh Allen

you might want number ninety five on the field. Think

see why they are a short favor, but if the

I think you should be rewarded for playing all through
the season and then get into the conference championship game,
then having a week to prepare for that, and then
sometimes playing the team you already played. And we always
say it was one of the hardest things of doing football.
Beat the same team twice, and in the NFL is

them twice in the record season, but they both make
the playoffs. Like we're gonna see that with the NFC
North right, three teams are getting in. Somebody's beating somebody

where players opt out of bowl games all the time

ten is the final. Russell Wilson did have a touchdown run,
but also through an interception in the red zone. That
touchdown run was the only time the Pittsburgh Steelers crossed

number one seed in the AFC. Obviously, that means they

will have not only home field advantage, but also that
first round by they need it. They have played a
three games in eleven days, but the Kansas City Chiefs
VJ Husky.

and be back the next week. Did We've seen guys
have a calf and they're out for three four weeks?
Calves are funny. It's a funny muscle as far as uh,
you know it, getting he getting healed, like healing and
being healthy enough for you to play today. I was
just questioning, was it precautionary or is there some are

he just or he couldn't go because they do have
time going into the playoffs. But now that you have
this calf, and we talked about them playing an arrowhead
and it's cold and narrowhead, and which means you gotta
warm up longer, you gotta get more heat, you know,
heat treatment before the game. And he'd imp to get
those muscles warm because one of those muscles going to
cold like a calf, you could be done for the
rest of the playoffs.

football playoff. I would be okay if they started it
this coming weekend. Like, give you like three weeks from

the Army Navy and then we got the Highs on
the same Saturday. Give us back to back saturdays off.

Give us, I think, give college football, give us a
chance to breathe. So then we die, right, So then
it's like, oh, man, now now I'm juiced, I'm ready,
I'm ready to go. And now we get the first
round of the college Football Playoff, then the semi, then
the quarters, then the semis then yeah, and then finish
it off at the end of what's the January twentieth
this year is the National Championship Game? I didn't I
wouldn't care, bro if they put the National Championship Game

to like like right before the Super Bowl, Sure, give
it to the Riot. Why why not you only it's
only two teeth nil and all the money stuff. I
don't want to hear about class I want to hear
about the exams. I don't want to hear about nine of it.

we were then on when it came out that Ohio State.
You mentioned that the games don't pick up again for

next Tuesday, Wednesday. But I bring it up because j
mart and I were on air and we find out

that Ohio State is actually a small favorite over the
number one seed Oregon Ducks. And I'm curious for you.
You're a big ten guy. You know the Big ten
really well. I was actually surprised by that, and I
guess my question for you are we getting a little
too excited about an Ohio State went over Oregon and
an Ohio State went over Tennessee. And let me explain,
is that Ohio State this year best win of the

year Penn State. They immediately struggle, almost loose to nebraskat home.

Then you beat Indiana top ten team. Oh my god,
they just showed Kurt Signetty this that. Then they lose
to Michigan at home. And I guess my point is.

This, Throughout Ryan Day's career, we've seen moments where he
can get his team to rise to.

The occasion, except against Michigan. But that's another conversation.

But I bring it up because I don't know that
I believe that just because they were great against Tennessee
that they're gonna play four straight games in this college
football playoff and be awesome.

Man. So I'll take off the Jimmy Burgers, the Wolverine,
the Big House, Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson had all my
Michigan has that where I'll take him all off and
just twelve real brass tax football here. Other than Michigan.

You got these receivers, You got these backs, junkins out

It has been my question all year long, back to
spring ball, because when you're coming out of spring ball
in college football and you don't announce your quarterback, I
automatically take you out of the national championship game. Because

if you don't know who your quarterback is coming out
of spring ball in March, April and May, then you're
not winning the national championship that year. You gotta know
who your guy is then, I mean, he got all
the first team reps, he got all the paraderie. They
all know who the leader is. They all know who
the quarterback is. They all know who QB one is.
It's no discussion. They know who their guy is. Will
Howard will throw this game away if he's given the

opportunity to said it against Oregon the first time they
play Oregon. Our producer in for the show, sitting here
right now, he heard me say this, he'll give the
game away. What did he do? Give the game away?
Ohio State? I said the knight that already, and I
feeled in that Friday night. Then Bernie Fridle called in.
I told him exactly how this game was gonna go
against Michigan. They're gonna try to run the football. We're
gonna stop the run Wild Russia, and Will Howard will

give the game up. I still feel that way about
this Oregon game. Oregon's got a really good defense that's
just not talked about because they're Oregon and were enamored
with more other Georgia and Texas and somebody either Nordre Dame,
some of these other schools. Even Jens's got everybody's attention
with his Russian problems with Boise State. But I can
see why they are a short favor, but if the

game is in Will Howard's game in the fourth quarter,
mark my words, he's going to give the game up.
If he doesn't do that, Ohio State wins and moves on.
If he does that, Oregon slides by them again and
then moves on to play who I believe.

Will be Texas because Texas Arizona's correct, it is Texas
Arizona State out o that side of the bracket. Yeah, real quick,
So do you now that we've done a you know,
a weekend of this, do you believe that we do
need to change anything in the bracket? And more specifically,
I think the thing that a lot of people are

frustrated with, and I actually do understand it, and I
only bring it up because we are getting Ohio State
Oregon and then Texas obviously would likely face the winner
of that game after playing Arizona State. Do you think
we need to get rid of the automatic buys for
conference champions No?

I think you should be rewarded for playing all through
the season and then get into the conference championship game,
then having a week to prepare for that, and then
sometimes playing the team you already played. And we always
say it was one of the hardest things of doing football.
Beat the same team twice, and in the NFL is
beat the same time team three times if you beat
them twice in the record season, but they both make
the playoffs. Like we're gonna see that with the NFC
North right, three teams are getting in. Somebody's beating somebody

already before. No, I think it's fine. I just my
own selfish reasons. It's just my own And maybe I
should have prefaced that the other day when we were
on and we talked about this with bo uh. I
just when you get to in the twelve team format
and Ian, this might be you hearing this new first time.
I just feel like in a in a in a
fourteen twelve teen format, when you get to ten, eleven
and twelve, just give me, just give me the start,

Just give me the stars and the brands, man, because
twelve teams don't have a legitimate shot. But yes, I'll
take Alabama, I'll take Oh Miss, I'll take Colorado over
Indiana and and and SMU. I'm sorry you had a
cute little season. I get it, but at this point,
none of you guys are winning this anyway. And on
the back end, So give me, give me the brands,
at least the tune in the watch. That's the only
thing I would change. I would maund Aaron and I

know it's probably fools goal, but I wouldn't mind if
someone in the committee say, look, guys, let's listen to

It's not like they're a better brand, they're better team's

So that's the only thing I would change. I'm fine
with it, man, because well, we're all gonna have something

Interesting story came out yesterday on Colorado Buffalo So Colorado. So,
first of all, what's just cool about this is one
that there was never hesitation from Shador Sanders or Travis
Hunter that they were even going to play in this
Alamo Bowl. The game is on Saturday night, and you know, listen,

bottom line is, you know we live in this world
where players opt out of bowl games all the time
that aren't in the playoff. Coach Prime said the second
that that Oklahoma State game went final. Our boys playing
bowl games. We start where we finish. But what is
actually very cool that the Colorado Athletic Department they have
taken out the largest insurance premium pretty much that's ever

been done. So I'll try to be quick on this,
but basically, when you have both, when you have really good.

Players, and I think this goes back to years.

I remember Brady Quinn, I believe, talking about this during
his own college career, so this is a long.

But the school or whoever can take out an insurance
policy to protect you in case of injury.

Colorado took out insurance policies for its entire roster for
the Alamo Bowl, and then Shador Sanders and Travis Hunter, who,
as Coach Prime will tell you could very well be
the number one and number two picks in the draft,
will get the biggest disability insurance ever.

It's basically just protecting these guys.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
If God forbid, and we're all praying everything goes fine,
but if God forbid, something happens. Essentially, it sounds as
though these players, those two players specifically, will be set
financially for the rest of their lives if they have
some sort of injury that keeps him from playing football.

This this to me, man, It's just It's why I
love Coach Prime. This is why jokingly called myself coach
Prime Husky. I had my Birmingham Patriot High School team
referring to me as Coach Prime Husky. I brought the

this man and take him in for what he's doing

That's why I'm trying to pattern myself as a coach
after a man like this man. Congratulations, saw all those
