Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh yeah, doing it live live. It's great to be
here live from the MLB All Star Village in Atlanta.
It's the ultimate baseball hotspot. Yeah, and you can be
part of the excitement here at Capitol one All Star
Village to tomorrow head to the comp Gallery of for
Baseball fun, live entertainment like us. Yeah, we're here representing

(00:26):
interactive games by tickets today at All Star Game dot Com.
I'm Cavino, that is Rich. It's a pleasure to be
in for Dan Patrick, and a bigger pleasure to be
here for your MLB All Stars.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Excited.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
I'm looking around the All Star Village. Yeah, I'm as
much as I want to do the show. I see
that you could take batting practice as little booths and
demonstrations and FanFest fun.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
I want to just honestly go hang over there for
a little while. Now. Rich and I have been going
to Super Bowl and sporting events forever, broadcasting live from
major events for years. Nothing brings out the little kid
and you like MLB fan Fest All Star Break and
it's so over the top. I often feel like maybe

(01:10):
our parents didn't love us because they never took us
to anything like this.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
Your Pio brought you every video game in your thirty
something pairs of Cavalici's, but they did not bring you
to an all star villain.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
No. I mean, but my mom did buy me bases
loaded for seventy five dollars for Nintendo when it came out.
RBI is still the greatest game of all time, but
it didn't exist in this way. To be fair, baseball
is popping like we haven't seen it in years and
is truly representing right now and it's just getting started.

(01:43):
Rich and I got in late last night Atlanta. Great
to be here. We have been here in a minute. Beautiful.
Everybody's really kind. That's my first observation. Actually, lots of
big booties in at I've noticed the booties, so that
was what first said. You could get behind right, Yeah,
big booties entire. But he's in kindness. Who's gonna hate
on that. It's very humid here, but it's very beautiful

(02:04):
and it's great to be back. So we got in
late last night and you know, we hit the gym.
We just settled in, got some dinner and everything to
get ready for today.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
And we get to the keep the gym. You know
you're not in the Derby tonight, right, Okay?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Mentally I am to make sure you know, hey, everybody
represents and rocks the colors, and we'll explain it all.
But we get to the convention Center today, the com Galleria,
and we're just looking around. Like Rich said, there's pitching
machines and batting cages and fast pitch and you know,
just every logo and every team represented you get posed

(02:40):
next to, like the cardboard cutouts of the stars. It's
like there's so much for kids and so much for
the ultimate fan. It's not just for kids. Believe me,
I feel like a kid just being here. I'm so
pumped about it. And my theory is this Rich, like
I said, we've been in so many events and so
many different things. I think when it comes to baseball, Yeah,
I'm a big baseball fan and so were you. But

(03:01):
I think it's because it's our first true love and
our first true dream. Meaning yeah, we all love football.
It's America's game. We go crazy for football the offseason.
We're still talking about football, and maybe you love basketball,
but I think we were all introduced to sports and
dreaming with baseball, no doubt.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
When you were a little kid, I want to be
the shortstop of the Yankees or Dodgers or Cubs, like
that was your dream.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
You got into Little League, You're like, this is what
I'm gonna do. This is my passion, this is what
I collect, this is what I'm into. These are the
colors I represent, like, this is what I'm about. So
I feel like when you're surrounded by in this way,
that's when you feel like a kid the most and
it makes you feel great. You don't have to have
kids to be here, but I highly suggest wherever it

(03:48):
is next year, I'm hoping to be back and I
hope to see you there because it's fantastic as we
feel it for Dan Patrick.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
But by the way, I think he's celebrating the next
couple of days his big family, if you'd win, is
that what? By the way, how great was Marvin and
Fritzi and seting in the whole crew on family feud?

Speaker 2 (04:06):
I mean, life goals rich. One day we'll be there.
We'll take Iowa Sam just to watch him act frantic.
By the way, ioas him back in the studios, Sam
playing the glockenspiel and He's on the phones at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. Super producer dg is here
and the video is up courtesy of spot At Covino
and Rich at Fox.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Sports Radio again live from Atlanta. Now there's drama surrounding
the All Star Game. We're gonna get to that. We're
gonna talk some NFL, we'll talk some NBA. Lebron's in
the news, but before we get to the fun drama
surrounding MLB, I.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Mean all Star drama. Oh, there's All Star drama. Yeah.
I did want to point out I watched a.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Movie on the flight that I had not seen in
maybe thirty years. You know when you haven't seen a
movie in so long that you almost feel like you're
watching it for the first time again.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
You're gonna interrupt my love gush of baseball to tell
them what you watched on the plane.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
It's worth it, Okay, I've never seen somebody have Dumbo
on their light screen.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Movie Danny exactly. I watched the movie that I had
not seen in easily thirty years, to the point where
I was like, I watch it through kids' eyes.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Now as a grown up, I'm like, let me watch
it again. What does Willy Wonka have to do with
the All Star Game? I watched Field of Dreams.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
Oh okay, it was one of the Delta free movies
on the flight and watching it now, I'm like.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
You shed one, didn't you? At the end? Yes, Dad,
is this heaven? No? I thought if I was Sam, No,
it's Iowa. It was like I was saying, how do
we not have that clip? By the way, there's a
lot of MLB executives here. Yeah, it's a big weekend,
obviously a big week I should say, maybe we tell

(05:47):
them we go to the Iowa game, we go to
the Field of Dreams game. Let's go and broadcast. Dude,
I want to get out there and see that.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
But let me tell you, watching Field of Dreams, it
made you realize, oh what, No One at Eddy Play
was like, Kevin Costner needs to go to the looney bin.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Most of that movie he was seeing.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Things and everyone's like, yeah, he's building a stadium and
he's seeing people hearing things.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
If you build it, he will come imagine that.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
But what a great and magic Because it's a magical
and great movie. The ending's beautiful and it really is
more of a I almost considered it.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
It's certainly not sci fi.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
But like, by the way simple fact that most of
that movie he's just seeing and hearing things and everyone's like.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Someone give me a baseball to throw it rich, anyone
have a cleat I could throw at this guy because
he's acting like he's never seen the movie ever. Way
to take us back to nineteen ninety eighty nine, I
don't know. And I also want to strangle you because
we often talk about the natural and how magical that

(06:52):
movie is. And I don't think you've ever seen it.
It's baseball. It's the only baseball classic. But I haven't seen. Yeah,
you gotta see these parts of it, which is not enough.
I know. I make so many Roy Hobbs references and
WonderBoy references. This guy doesn't even know what I'm talking.
That's the bad you know, I have. I might have
been high when I watch it. I don't know. But again,

(07:13):
it's a very magical movie. When he hits the home
run in his lights, it's very magical in that way.
But feel the dreams for sure. Man, it's a classic.
I love it and my guys in it. Ray Liota
from my hometown of Union, New Jersey. She was Joe Jackson.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
Dude, Now we we get on to the drama of
the All Star break but I didn't want to mention
that I had watched that movie on the plane and Spot.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Did look over at me. We were sitting next to
each other. He watched.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
I could tell he was watching to see if I cried,
because there was the end, you know, at the end.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, he was staring at me. He's like, I want
to see. He wanted to see if I was going
to cry on the plane, not even that I wasn't
even listening to it. I didn't have hefhonton. I was crying.
That's how emotional that movie is.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
It's beautiful.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
He gets to have a catch with his dad and
they come and it's beautiful, magical.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
I cried when they served the French toast.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Oh, Danny g was loving that French toast on the plane. No,
I skipped that to not sound not to sound lavish.
I guess it was a first class trip that we
took here to make it even better. So we got
served breakfast yesterday. What experience? Rich cried watching a movie
from thirty years ago. You know who else is crying?

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Perfect segue Trey Turner and a bunch of Philadelphia Philly
weeny cry babies.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Wow, Philly, did you see what's going on?

Speaker 5 (08:32):
They are all he's a Mets fan, by the way.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Yeah, by the way, Rich sad, I don't know if
I feel the same way as you. I'm actually glad
that they're passionate about the All Star Game.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Well, you know what there is You could argue both sides,
So you're glad they're passionate, but you could also say
what a bunch of cry babies. And I have to
be careful about saying let's go Mets too loud around
here because we're also in Atlanta Brieves territory.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Yeah, so so should I not bring up nineteen ninety six? Yeah?
Should I not bring up Jim Lairett Yankees fan would not.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
I wouldn't want to bring up Jay Jim Laotz no
matter what he changed.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
No, he's not. And he changed the whole series around
nineteen ninety six.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
Dude.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
So look, there's a lot of people crying about the
MLB All Star Game turning into the Savannah Bananas, and
it's one big joke, says Mick Castiano. Says Trey Turner,
says some of the Phillies, and that's why we title
this conversation Phillies or cry Babies, Yes or no. I'm

(09:38):
still trying to figure out how I feel about it,
because I'm thinking I'm leaning towards no, because I do believe,
I strongly believe that you entering the All Star Game
should be on merit alone. It should be on your stats.
I think the fans just voted in whoever's a popularity contest,
and that's why you see nothing but Yankees and Dodgers
in the All Star Game. And I'm a Yankees fan.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
I don't it's not Yankee or Dodger heavy with the
starters with the star you got three Dodgers, but well deserved.
Will Smith Freddie and show, hey, you can't argue they
don't deserve it. I will say, let me explain if
people like, what do you mean the Phillies or Creberris
the Phillies. When I say Phillies, Trey Turner, Nick Castianos

(10:19):
and some of the leaders on that team are saying
it's a joke that Brewer's rookie pitcher Misowski Jacob Mizerowski, Yeah,
is on the All Star team. Now, I heard them
talking about this during the Mets broadcast yesterday. Ron Darling
former picture as the Mets broadcaster, and he said, you know, like,
first of all, the sentiment he get down on.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
This kid is ridiculous. He's just a kid that got elected.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
So there should be no hate directed towards this young
star pitcher.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Nothing about him personally. This is about the decision now,
because here's why. He's only had five starts in the bigs.
They call him the miz Jacob Mizrowski. So out of
five starts, he's four and one. He's looking dominant. Two
point eight one eer a, thirty three strikeouts in his
five starts. But here's why it's a big deal. He's

(11:11):
a rookie pitcher and this is the shortest outing ever
for someone to make an All start the TV.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
He's played five games in his big league career and
he's an All Star. The record before that was Paul
Skeins last year and that was eleven and people at
that time were like, you know, he's got the goods.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Remember him at LSGE No. One. He was a starter
one bad den at that selection last year because he
came out so dominant, was so highly touted was throwing gas,
throwing cheese, huge star in Pittsburgh, so no one said
anything about that. But he became the guy with the
shortest amount of starts eleven starts, so this is five
starts and it gets people talking. But again, you got

(11:52):
to remember reporters were asking questions too. That's the other thing.
What do you want these players to do? Lie to you?
Do you want to not care? That's the other thing.
So Rich is a Mets fan, he's seeing their cry babies.
That is the overall sentiment here. I'm saying, I'm glad
they care, and I'm actually surprised that they're speaking out

(12:12):
this way. It's almost refreshing because baseball players are usually
reserved and boring. Here's my thought, like you always.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Say, as the tortilla girl would say, why not both
flower and corn tortillas?

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Is the oldel passo tortilla girl. You make the reference,
get it? He says it all the times. My favorite reference,
why not both?

Speaker 4 (12:36):
They could be cryber babies with a point right, like
how many times have you bitch, you complain about something
where you seem like maybe behind.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
The scenes they call us complaino and bitch. That's not true,
because we do. We complain a lot because sometimes and
I hate this saying, I hate it more than anything,
but you hear it at the workplace all the time.
Squeaky wheel gets the oil, get your degrease, whatever it
is for the from a complainer. But sometimes you have
to speak up when you've seen injustice. Is Nick Castianos,

(13:06):
Trey Turner, Are these guys in the wrong when it
comes to this selection.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Well, Kyle Schwarber home run Beastaedan m HM said, quote,
it's unfortunate, but I wish my teammates were there. We
know what we have, and I think we're grateful for
what we have. But they went on to say Trey
Turner said, what a joke.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
It's effing terrible. I mean, it's terrible, dude. J t
Raymulto said, that's just how MLB does it.

Speaker 5 (13:34):
Now.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
Nothing against the Miserasky kid, but those two Sanchez and Suarez,
his two teammates, are deserving of being on that team
in the first place. There's no doubt.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
And then they went on to say Castiano said.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
Turning into the Savannah bananas, listen, the kid has five starts.
It's a little premature, but Why would baseball not hype
up their young dudes.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Every other sport does it.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
You're telling me that dud with all eyes are on
freaking Ronnie James or whatever.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
Young NBA guy gets a shay. If the miss is
the next guy, if he's the next Paul Skins and
they're confident in that, I've got no problem with it.
If he's the Brewers superstar that everyone's super pumped about it,
Let the rookie shine, let him do his thing. He
now has to deliver. It's like it's like when we
talk about nepotism, right, it can only get you so far.

(14:26):
You have to deliver at some point. Yeah, he got
in because there's some hype around them, but now he
has to show up and be the man. And speaking
of nepotism, there's a lot of famous names in baseball
that were drafted, and we got to talk about that.
But was it a snub? Was Trey Turner snubbed? Turner

(14:46):
slash two ninety nine with eleven home runs, thirty nine RBIs,
twenty two stolen bases, ranked among the top fifteen players
in war and wasn't selected as a reserve. So, I mean,
was he gonna start for Marte Lindor, I should say,
actually Lindor is get out of here. Yah. So but

(15:09):
I don't think he says he was snubbed. No, but
there are people saying that, well, he's a star, he
should be there. And again I'm thinking, no, I get it.
Fans have a say, so you got to be a
popular player, but you also have to have that hype
and those stats to back it up.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
So let me ask you, is the I think we
could sell this again with multiple angles, but number one,
when you go to an All Star game we're watching
on TV.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Or partaking this, we're lucky to be here.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
Do you want to see the stars and the young
exciting people? They are, you know, are creating the conversation?
What do you want to see the people with.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
The stats that deserve it.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
I'm all about earning it, But the reality is, what
do you think these kids and the and the big
baseball fans want to see. I want to see miss
Rowski get up there and throwing inning. He's the young
he's the guy. If he if he's the Skeens.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Yeah, and I'm all for it, but why would you
resist it?

Speaker 4 (16:03):
No other sport or anything in the entertainment world or
music or anything. But that that would be like saying
there's a hot new musician, Well, they can't perform live
at the Grammys. They've only had one or two hits. No,
because if they're the hots at the time, put him
out there. Why would if you're the National League, you're
telling me that you wouldn't want Skeens and Missowski at
least during an inning and the all start.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Oh here's the thing. Everybody has a different path in life.
You see that guy at the office, you hate on
him because he got promoted quickly. Hey maybe he's a
rock star and you're not. That's just the truth. And
it's easy to hate on that path because you're probably
working hard to do your thing. But hey, this guy
has some buzz around him and he's an all star.
Now when it comes to Castianos, who's a little salty

(16:46):
about it again, it's turning into the Savannah bananas. Would
you say?

Speaker 4 (16:50):
Casianos is best known for him always being up when
something weird happens.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Right is his reputation? Yeah? Is he gonna start over PCA? No,
Kyle Tucker, No, Akuna Junior. No, that's your starting outfield
in the NL. So how do you feel about a
dude that's really it simplify the question, how do you
feel about a dude with five starts making the MLB
All Star Team? See? Is that a joke or is that? Hey,

(17:18):
everybody has a different path.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
I think there's also the layer of a lot of people, pitchers,
especially op to I'm not going to throw that day,
or I'm coming off a short rest.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
I'll take the honor, but I dip out.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
And if that's the case, like, I don't know what
it's again, it's it's the All Star Game.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
We want to see the excitement. I'm all for this
kid playing. Hey, Rich, how do you feel about Rich?
On a personal note, right again, it's Cavino and rich
In for Dan Patrick live from Atlanta, All Star Village.
Come say hi, drinks on Rich Capitol one All Star Village.
It's just starting great vibe here. But on a personal note,
Rich got a big time gig in the number one

(18:02):
market New York City Z one hundred as a nineteen
year old punk How do you think that best kids
strogram director? Yeah no, he had good buzz, good hype, but.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Yeah no, his path right, he was the quintessential, like
fly guy at night, like nighttime DJ.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
But I don't because well, usually though, it's like the
young dude.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
That a program director looks at it and says, I
can mold that guy into becoming a nighttime DJ.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
You know what that's called, though, is called you got
potential and you've got a great break. Right For anyone
to hate on that is just envy and jealous. And
then you know what the period this guy's getting a
break here, he's got all the goods to be an
all star. Now he has to deliver. If dude didn't deliver,
you wouldn't be killing for Dan Patrick right now, all
these years later, you could have sixty five years later.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
You could say, you could say that that's a great example,
but the truth is twenty years day, Tad, Yeah, we
you know. I I'd like to think I proved that
I could stick around, But you're right, when I was
nineteen and was working at a big radio station, if
you don't think they were people that hated me.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
There, Actually, I'm sure there were lots of weekend talent
who had been grinding hard to get.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
Promoted all over the country, not just in New York exiety,
all over the country that were like, who's this idiot?
How did he get that chance? He must be kissing ass.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
So you know, the radio stations with the best balance
were always the most fun to listen to, the ones
that had the mix of veterans and newcomers and up
and coming stars. And I think that's what it is
with the MLB All Star Game too. I want what
you guys have been talking about. I want to see
a balance of guys that are just having an amazing

(19:43):
year plus the faces of the leader.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
And that's exactly what I'm getting at. And I think
that's nail on the head because as I said before,
I think you got to have the stats to back
it up. If you've earned it, you should be in there.
But you do need that mix of young stars who
you get excited about. And this is the guy who
do you.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
Think has the most All Star appearances that have any
one of the game this year. Because you're seeing a
lot of first time starters, let me give you this
first time starters. Cal Rawley, your old pal, Clay Labor
of Love Glens, he's having a season. Jacob Wilson, Riley
green Will Smith on the Dodgers first time starter, I
got it.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
I got my dude, Francisco Lindor number twelve. The guy
with the most starts Kyle either first time in the
NL Manny Machado or Freddie Freeman's got PCA first time.
But you asked me who has the most? You're dude
Aaron Judge seven. He also is the fastest to three
hundred and fifty home runs this past weekend, so I

(20:45):
tip my Yankee hat to him. So the question simple,
and we asked you, Dan Patrick Nation, Fox Sports Radio
Nation Live from Atlanta, a guy with five starts? Are
you hating or congratulating?

Speaker 4 (20:58):
So it's the quest uestion of the All Star Break
because Jacob Mizerowski is causing lots of drama, lots of controversy.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
Brewers fans are excited about it. The miz is four
and one and people are saying, what is that about?

Speaker 4 (21:12):
So your thoughts as we feel for DP Live from
the Capitol One All Star Village, Atlanta, Covino and Rich. Yeah,
we'll talk to feedback and phone calls next at Covino

MLB All Star Village in Atlanta. It's great to be here, man.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
Always fun toak you some Baseball All Star stuff. Oh hell,
I was just talking to our friends at MLB and
you really were.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Bro, you're such a schmoozer. Listen, you guys got to
see this guy in action. Let me, I don't know
if I should high five of them or punch him
in the face. Let me tell you this though.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
They want you and I after the show to go
inside the fan fest and battle it out batting practice, pitching, everything.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
And I'm like, yeah, let's go. I want to whoop
your ascid this stuff at Covino Ritch later on you
can see it. You know, it's embarrassing that you still
get like like you're so competitive like that you want
to beat me in those things. Like you know who
shows me you were such a weaning growing up. No,
you know who's the psychond No, you know.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Who loses their competitive nature when you subconsciously like, well,
well I can't win.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
I'll say it's childish because this is the this is
the field I play on now, broadcasting over Dan Patrick. Yeah,
I'm trying to win here. You want to still hit
home runs? The field he plays this is this is
where I played away, not the batting cage Weedie. All right,
So CNR in for the Great Dan Patrick. We are
live from the MLB All Star Village and most cars

(23:15):
on the road could use a little TLC. At MAKO
we bring your car back to life with affordable paint
jobs and light collision repairs. Get a free estimate today.
Uh oh, better get macow. That might be the lamest
quote ever. This is the field I play on now.
Uh that might be lame or the truth. I'm trying
to win here. You're trying to hit home runs in
Beer League softball, give me a break, so or.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
We're two buddies that are at the All Star village. Yeah,
and I want I can't wait, But you want to
beat me. It's like, dude, why don't you beat me
when it mattered?

Speaker 5 (23:46):
Like you want to beat me?

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Now, let's beat some other shows and broadcasting. That's where
my mind sets at. Well, you know what to wrap up,
as Danny said, put a little.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
Bow on our phillies or crying conversation Casiana schwar Berg,
Trey Turner. They just seem a little butt hurt that
some of their teammates did not get voted in yet
Miss Rowski, who's played five games in his big league career,
though he looks lights out.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
What a small sample size to be an All Star.
But it's all good. I'm glad they care. It shows
me that they care and that it still means something.
And hey, you're giving a young stud a shot. Jacob
Ezrawski was given a spot on the NL roster for
the All Star Game on Friday because cub starter Matthew
Boyd was unable to pitch on Tuesday. And now they're saying, man,

(24:33):
it's gonna be awkward. The next time, Bernie Brewer and
the Philly fanatic cross paths because Phillies are talking smack
that it's a joke. Trey Turner said, what a joke?
And Costianos is saying, what is this Savannah bananas? And
we're saying, hey, everybody has a different path. Now it's
his time to step up and prove he's a superstar.
But again, it should be on stats, and I think

(24:55):
the best should be there. But if Sken's made it
with eleven starts and he's a superstar.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
Now let's uh, thank you for the miss Maybe we
just got a head start on Miserowski exactly. I just
happen to open up x Twitter and I don't even
know if I follow this guy, but I'll give him
a shout out. Chuck Friedman Apparently he's a guy that
works with the Brewers. Put out there he goes sounds
like some MLB players are upset. Misserowski's an all star.
How many times have the Brewers been absolutely buried because

(25:21):
they're in a small market. They finally get a bone
thrown their way with this young kid, and people are
mad about it.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
He's a star.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
The Brewers have a young star player. Baseball is kind
of embrace the hell out of this guy, which they should.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Let's just enjoy it. Who cares exactly and again he
has to deliver and gives you more reason to tune in,
but has caused some drama. Where do you stand? Hit
us at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio, and
of course Iowa Sam back at the studio on the
phones at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Is
this heaven in?

Speaker 4 (25:51):
For No?

Speaker 2 (25:52):
It's Iowa Sam Oh, so mine from Atlanta. We move
on from baseball, even though there's such a great butts
in the air. We're here for the All Star Game
home run Derby tonight will be bushwhacking on TV. Look
out for us. Let's talk a little Lebron. Lebron even
has to infiltrate the All Star conversation. We're here talking

(26:16):
baseball and Lebron is still in the headlines. Well, now
do you plot?

Speaker 5 (26:20):
Do you say? Beat it?

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Dude?

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Last night the restaurant you and I were at Covino,
I overheard people talking Lebron.

Speaker 4 (26:28):
Oh, before we get to Lebron, can I ask you
and spot I canna tell us what other movie you
watched on the airplane, you get the headphones. I hate
all of you, by the way, before we get to
lebron and baseball. Yeah, my adds blays and so roll
with me a second. Rich finally saw the sandlot on
the flight here. He wants to tell us about it.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
I uh.

Speaker 4 (26:51):
I met an old high school friend for dinner last night,
her and her husband.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
So you guys did dinner without me?

Speaker 5 (26:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:57):
I go to the hotel gym last night. I just
think it'll work at him because I know we're gonna
be busy this week. I see Covino and I go,
how is dinner? And he goes brot. He was like,
everyone's so nice and there's a great Booti's here, all right,
those are great observation.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
What did you eat me? And he goes, yo, Danny
had this sweet fried chicken. Spot had a shrimp and grits.
I had a chicken caesar salad. I go, I know
you're always on a healthyca southern Southern son.

Speaker 5 (27:26):
You gotta taste his chicken, great.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Seasoned southern grilled chicken I've ever had. I just feel
my opinion. First of all, mind your own business, you
busy body buttons but inski. But we also had a
delicious cheesecake that I shared with Spot.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
It's like you worry about what you eat Danny Fried chicken,
well the spot collar, green Collar, greens, Cavino, You're you're
in a new city and you opt for chicken caesar salad.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
How could that be great? Did you eat it? I did?
Zip your mouth, zip your pie hole.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
You know that's a fantastic choice, Spot, I mean, of all,
I mean, I don't like grits.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Don't say that out louder like, oh my god, I
just got all these mean modes. But your boy doesn't
do grit do you know? At the bar, I don't
do it at the waffle house, I don't do grits.
I enjoyed my dinner and that's all it matters. You
are my cousin. By worry about yourself, what's a grit?
People that have to worry about what you're doing, worry

(28:28):
about what you eat, what you know, what you know,
what you ate yesterday? But I don't care. Put it
that way.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
Look at this Lebron James headline. There you go, thank you,
thanks for bringing it.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
Back you anyway, let's go to Lebron who has a
chicken caesar soud.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Anyway, this guy is saying I saw him at the
gym last night and then questioning what I ate. Clearly
I care about what I'm eating. It all goes downhill
with all these work trips in business meetings until you
become a big slob. This is where this is where
you binge a little.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
Anyway, that's what you could do Lebron James again, regardless
of All Star Break, football is about to start in
two months, Lebron does something crazy or there's speculation it's
gonna make the news and headlines. Because as we said before,
SGA was MVP and won an NBA title.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Who cared?

Speaker 4 (29:14):
I don't think a lot of people because the stars
of the NBA are still these aging veterans, and the NBA,
I think has a problem of who is the next
young stars to emerge. Maybe it's Cooper Flag, maybe it's
Wemby that is yet.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
To be known. Maybe it's all of them.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
But right now, Lebron James is still the biggest name
of the NBA. I don't care what anyone says.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
Well, again, causing drama right here in the middle of
the All Star Game, All Star Break, and we're talking
Lebron four teams have apparently reached out to him. Those
teams being the Mavericks, Warriors, the Cavaliers, and the Clippers.
Imagine he went to the Clippers. From the Lakers to
the Clippers or joined I don't know, Kyrie, Cooper Flagg

(29:53):
and who whatever. The Mavericks I mean, the Mavericks have
a pretty stacked roster, YEA. Would we have a different
opinion and thought for every team? We coul even speculate that.
But I'm here to tell you again eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox. If Lebron leaves the Lakers, that
is the weakest move ever. Dude, play out your contract,
call today and right off into the sunset. I'm not

(30:14):
telling anyone how to live their life or their career,
but dude, come on, you're restaurant. Yeah, but you're gonna
leave the Lakers to wrap up your career? Where chasing
another chip? Do it with the Lakers, bro, Brony's still there.
You're gonna leave again. And that's the weakest sign of

(30:36):
any superstar. When you look at their little reference, their stats,
and you see that they ended up here, then there
and this and that. That's you know, their career. Just
you know. That's why I hate what Aaron Rodgers did
and how he's ending his career. It's their career and
their legacy to tarnish. But Lebron, you're better than that.
Win one in LA with the Lakers. The only one
I really understand is Cleveland, because you're going back to

(30:59):
your home city. You have history there, maybe unfinished business.
So I understand it, but it's still weak as hell.
SA Lebron leaves the Lakers. It might be great fodder
and great for the NBA and great conversation.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
But that's the weakest move. I, much like everything in life,
disagree with you completely. I think Lebron James is a
unique generational player that goes against these rules. I agree
a lot of times, like so he goes to Dallas
and what he's chasing a ring that looks lame, But
if he.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Goes, he becomes a party lamee. Lebron James isn't the
type of guy that leaves a team. They the team
comes to him. It shows you that he's he's not
that guy anymore then, and I know he's unhappy, and
he's the guy that's contractually capable of wanting a trader

(31:54):
leaving the other some of the other people are locked up.
I look at it this way. I get it.

Speaker 4 (31:57):
In other sports, it always does look weak when a
legend like Jerry Rice is like you know, Niners Raiders,
and then you're like, oh, yeah, he was on the Seahawks, yea,
or Emmitt Smith while he was slightly productive as a cardinal.
You see some of these legends, you know, Shaquille O'Neal
ends up playing for every color of the rainbow on
every team towards the end, it does look weak.

Speaker 5 (32:18):
What's different, though, is look at Lebron's numbers.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
Hey, great, That's what I'm saying. The difference is Lebron
is still an impact star player. And there's a couple say,
like the ramp, like the stats are still a solid.
I look at it this way. You go to the
Mavericks and then you become the veteran with some young
guys you can make a big impact. You go back
to Cleveland, that's a team that won fifty plus games

(32:42):
off the radar, were way good. They just failed in
the playoffs. So Calves are ready. I think the Warriors,
him and Steph we've all day dreamed about, like Yo,
well they ever played together. That's sort of a cool thought.
And I think the funniest one of all. If you
want to talk about a guy that could nail a legacy,
he already did it. Imagine you don't want to hear this,

(33:03):
but imagine he went crosstown to the Clippers and somehow
they won. Imagine Lebron James is the guy that gets
the lowly Clippers to finally win.

Speaker 5 (33:12):
I just don't see the Lakers trading him cross town,
I know, but that.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
Would be can you go a week? We're talking Lebron
James here? Man? I think can another team? And the
Lake Grade?

Speaker 4 (33:23):
Though, who was the who is the guy from nine
oh two and oh that we had on our show
back in the day, the Late Grade Luke Luke Perry.
Lou Perry one time told us that he drove a
station wagon or like some Minima or something, and and Covina.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Was like, yo, man, that's what you're driving your lou
Perry goes, yeah, but I make it cool. He's like,
you know when that got cool? I said, when he
goes when I got in it?

Speaker 4 (33:47):
And you know, he was a cool dude. You know,
you have recipes, you know, it would make the Clippers cool.
I think if Lebron James chose them.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
That's corny as corny as hell.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
The Clippers seem forever curse. I mean, it's sorry to
the two Clippers fans listening right now, but Ben Paller
and Clipper down. Yeah, it's the Donald Sterling curse. They
always find a way to lose. It's they're not the Lakers.
I don't think are interested in having that dynamic going
on in their same city.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
Right Well, well, you know, at the back of what
you said, the rich Clippers fans would find it cool.
I just think it's corny for his career and for basketball.

Speaker 4 (34:26):
Danny, you would probably find it a little funny in
that all your friends that are Clippers fans have spent
years bashing Lebron.

Speaker 5 (34:33):
So like see that part of it, That part of
it would be great.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Like Ben Maller, MONSI, some of our co workers.

Speaker 4 (34:38):
The few Clippers fans, you know, the funny part would
be how they would have to accept the fact that
Lebron's a Clipper.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
But hey, your thoughts.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
I get it's Baseball All Star Week NFL right around
the corner. Yet Lebron could he be on the move,
your thoughts at Covin on Rich As we're in for
the Great Dan Patrick.

Speaker 1 (34:56):

Patrick Show week days in nine am Eastern six am

(35:25):
Star Game dot Com and come by and say what's
up to us. Yeah, we're here chilling Covino on rich
In for the Great Dan Patrick. Now, before we get
back to baseball and Deshaun Watson and all these other things,
we got to wrap up this Lebron James conversation. Lebron
James was reached out to from the Mavericks, the Warriors, Cavaliers,

(35:51):
and Clippers. I think it's weak if he leaves the Lakers.
I'm not what you would say a Lakers fan. We
live in LA but for rec in reference, I'm thinking
he's got to end his career with La there's unfinished
business there. They've bent over backwards for this guy. People
are always going to criticize the Bubble Championship win one. There,
you got DeAndre Ayton now, and you know what he's

(36:13):
probably thinking, No one told me about that, because the
story was they told Luca, but they didn't tell Lebron
about it. So it is Luca's team and he's ready
to jump ship. Maybe apparently, I think that's weak unless
the only story I really understand I'm not a fan of,
but I understand that if he goes back to Cleveland,
AS's hometown, and you wrap it up that way, the

(36:34):
same way like a Griffy Junior ended up in Seattle
or but something like.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
That already had a homecoming and won a title exactly
for the Cavs. I can kind of understand Golden State
because he and Curry have wanted to play together for
so many years.

Speaker 4 (36:47):
And you've seen them, especially like on the Olympic stage,
when they play together.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
I may be delusional. I may be you know, I
may be five years too late on this. That a
part of me. The things Lebron and Stuff together could
still win well.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
The Lakers could also get young pieces from the Warriors
like Kaminga and Moody, so it could work out for
both teams.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
Sorry, did you say Lebron and stuff? How about Lebron
and Luca? How about the 's on? How about that
he begged his son to be drafted on? Rich Paul said,
we understand the difficulty in winning now while preparing for
the future. Paul said, we do want to evaluate what's
best for Lebron at this stage of his life and career.

(37:31):
He wants to make every season he has left count
and the Lakers understand that, and they're supportive and they
want what's best for him. And as Danny g said,
the difference between Lebron and let's say a Jordan who
ended up on a weak ass team, right or anyone
knows his choice man end of their career. His stats
are still up there. He's old in age, but he's

(37:54):
still one of the best or consistent on the court.
Twenty four point four points, averaging seven point eight rebounds,
and eight point two assists. So guy's still averaging twenty
basically twenty five points a game at forty something years
old now, so I get it, he still has game
and he wants to win, but dude, win in LA.
It just looks I don't know, I just hate that

(38:15):
look of when players bounce around at the end of
their career.

Speaker 4 (38:19):
Who's more likely to go further in the playoffs in
their sport? Aaron Rodgers at the Steelers or Lebron stick
it with the Lakers because you're talking about guy like,
you know, as you think of these guys that are
that are Hall of famers that are at the end, like,
could any of these are we delusional to think that
any of these late in their career guys can make
a run?

Speaker 2 (38:37):
Lebron if anybody, Yeah, I mean he's still got the juice. Yeah,
So your thoughts eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
We got more next in for the great Dan Patrick
hank Tight doing it live Atlanta Star.
