on Fox Sports Radio. I don't know if you can
see this or not. Look at my mic who talks
like this in a mic. Manti and I have been
here for the last sixty minutes. This thing is messed up.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
It is messed up.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
I'm gonna checked up, just like Free Agency. That's right.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
I'm gonna blame the weekend host, which I'm a part of,
because every time I sit there, I feel the same way.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
It's I don't know how to get it to look
like yours. It's like a maze that you eat pretzels
at a bar and try to figure it out.
Speaker 5 (00:54):
I don't think you can.
Speaker 4 (00:56):

Speaker 5 (01:11):
It looks worse than.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Great for the medium of radio perfect. Sorry, if you're
driving along, I just got an email. Dear Dan, your
mic looks jack Thump. Free agency is here and it
hasn't really even started in the NFL. New league gear
starts on Monday. Here is the tamperless window, and it
started boom boom boom boom boom. Heck, it actually even
(01:36):
felt like it started yesterday, Monsters, absolutely because you had
players who were released from their contracts that were able
to sign other places. And then maybe it started on
Friday with the Gino Smith trade to the Raiders. Maybe
that was the point. The point being is the new
league year isn't until Wednesday, and the face of the
NFL has already drastically changed with so many moves today.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Yeah. No, I was confused with the DeVante Adams signing
because of that free agency you're talking.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
I was like, I knew he was released, I didn't
know he could sign already.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Yes, that was shocking.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
No, it's been.
Speaker 4 (02:04):
It's definitely been in the works for longer than just
a few hours.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
And the Sam Donald to Seattle thing to me hits
home because if you've listened, I'm a Seahawks fan. Whether
you follow me on X, I don't always tweet about
the Seahawks. Are you following me on Blue Sky at
dan byer by the ways where you can find me?
Speaker 5 (02:23):
Get that in there.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
I do like to talk about when the Seahawks are
in the news because a lot of times, even though
I have told you my disdain, not disdain for the
new Seahawks fans, the ones that don't even know the
homegrown era, let alone the Dennis Eriksson era or the
Tom Flora's era or the Chuck Knox era. I get
all that, but I felt that there was such a
(02:44):
misrepresentation of what the Seahawks team was last year compared
to this year. And now you have Sam Donald signing
a three year deal worth just north of one hundred
million dollars, and it played out exactly like I thought
it would when we found out on Friday that Gino
Smith was being trade into the Raiders. I feel that
Gino Smith and Sam Donald are down near the same quarterback.
(03:05):
Gino Smith may be a little bit better. But Geno
Smith is a little bit older, and I think Geno
Smith's gonna get a little bit more money than he
got up or will get from the Raiders, and he
would have gotten in Seattle, which is one of the
reasons why he left. Sam Donald is not getting nearly
as much, but he is twenty seven years old, and
you can balance these things out. He's gonna make less
than forty million dollars a year. I don't think that
(03:25):
the Seahawks wanted to pay more than forty million dollars
a year. So Sam Donald fits. The tie in with
Clint Kubiak was mentioned on Friday. All of this falls
into place. And while so many people thought that Sam
Donald was going to be a Seahawk, it was for
the money that was the most important thing, because money matters,
and we'll talk about how money matters throughout. But with
(03:46):
this free agency, the Sam Donald news isn't shocking. The
only thing that was interesting to me was the numbers
comes in under forty million dollars. As a Seahawks fan, like, fine,
sign me up, let's start this new regime.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
Well that's good that you're starting on a positive note.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
So just go real question if you could have kept
Geno Smith for the same money.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Would you have you would ask, okay, okay, So you.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Wouldn't have made changes, but you knew what was coming.
You felt it was inevitable, correct, Okay.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
I just don't think. And it's funny because I felt
there was revisionist history on Gino Smith, not that people
were throwing shade at Gino Smith like they did in
most of his career and then early in his time
in Seattle. I think that the narrative is obviously changed
and there are numbers to back it up because of
how Geno Smith is played. It's just the fact of
Seattle sitting there saying to themselves, we have to address
(04:33):
the offensive line, we have to address other pieces, and
they have not hit in certain areas in the past.
Was this core of Gino Smith and DK Metcalf, which
was another huge move yesterday in the trade that they made.
Was that core going to get them to a Super Bowl? No? No,
it was not going to They were a ten win team.
I said it on this network. I think I even
(04:53):
said it with Gavino and Rich they're a play They
may make the playoffs, but they're not a playoff team.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
And that's I heard you say that yesterday and I
was like, that's an excellent way to put it, because
they were on the verge of getting into the playoffs.
But were they a playoff team and comparesson to the
others not so much.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
In Sam Donald's final couple of games with the Vikings
may have done, you know, Seattle a favor. If he
doesn't go out like that, he's probably making well north
of forty million dollars. But I do think that there
was a selective market to it. But it's interesting because
I think Sam Donald is the headliner of the day,
But when you have so many moves in free agency,
(05:30):
and Isaac's been trying to keep up with them for
the last four hours, it seems to change by the minute.
And we thought that Sam Donald was probably going to
be a Seahawk on Friday. So I'm not even sure
if that's even the biggest news of the day. Yeah,
considering what's gone down in NFL for you, No, not
at all.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
It was expected that he was going to be there.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
I guess the question was the numbers in the years,
and it seems like you were right on the money
about that.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
I am under forty million dollars. Yeah, and that's what
that's what they wanted to pay Gino Smith. There was
a report that came out that Seattle was maybe going
to go north to forty to forty five million dollars.
I don't know if that's true or not. But whatever
if it was, it wasn't enough for Gino Smith to
want to be there. A falling out on Thursday allow
the Seahawks to make the move on Friday to end
up trading them. So if you're getting the same basically
(06:12):
the same quarterback were you have the same concerns of
throwing interceptions because they both in the past have had
a tendency to throw interceptions. If you have a younger
guy at a cheaper price and get a third round pick,
I just don't know how you can look poorly on that.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
Yeah, no, totally.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
I mean, I don't know who Sam Donald is going
to throw the ball to, but I guess that's.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
Something that you'll figure out at some point down the road.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
About that, right now, I'll just run it seventy two
times a game. That's the well with that offensive line
that they haven't spent any money. That's the other part
of this is I thought because they had all this money.
Lookout world, look at all the players that the Seahawks
are signing on the offensive line, and so far, Donald's
been the only one that's so I guess all of
the Seahawks' land is not happy. But I'm sure there
(06:55):
are other teams in the National Football League that are
that are happy today with free agency.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
I'm sure there are. I'm really curious to know.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
We should ask Ian, our.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Editor out there, how the Jets are feeling, because I'm
very intrigued with this Justin Field signing for New York.
I thought Justin Fields was gonna stay in Pittsburgh. That's
the vibe I got. And every time I asked around,
speaking with Adam Kaplan on the weekend, it seemed like
they wanted to keep him, you know, not Russell Wilson.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
It seemed like they were more into Justin Fields.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
Yes, And so I really thought he was gonna stay
in Pittsburgh and I didn't anticipate him going to New York.
And the reason I'm so intrigued with this is because
I feel that there are still open ended questions when
it comes to Justin Fields. I feel like with Sam Darnold,
you kind of know what you're gonna get, You're expecting
a certain performance with Justin Fields. I feel like there's
maybe a positive expectation, Like I'm just wondering how Jets
(07:47):
fans are feeling.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
Because I'm very intrigued for him to go to New.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
York and I'm in the camp that I think you
know what you're gonna get.
Speaker 5 (07:54):
With Justin you think you know what you're gonna get.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
I think he is what he is, and I feel
that there are people around the league that are still waiting,
and I actually understand. I feel that there's this underlying
deal with Justin Fields because and it goes all the
way back to high school because of how highly touted
he was, and honestly, quarterbacks sam Donold is kind of
(08:17):
the same thing where you know the talent is there,
so you're gonna get opportunity after opportunity and sometimes you
feel that it's wasted. But I feel with someone like
Baker Mayfield, heck, maybe even Gino Smith for that man,
there was a point in Gino Smith's last year at
West Virginia where he was the Heisman trophy leader. Then
Johnny Football took over and the rest was history. But
(08:38):
that's how good Gino Smith was playing. There was a
time when he was thought to be a first round pick,
maybe a topick in the NFL, ended up falling to
the second round. Look at how many times Baker Mayfield
had to turn things around. Goes from Cleveland where there's
a falling out, goes to Carolina, doesn't work, has a
great time with the Rams, ends up going to Tampa,
wins the battle, and what do you know, He's the guy.
A guy like Justin Field, like Baker Mayfield, like Gino Smith,
(09:02):
like Sam Darnold get more opportunities because of who they
were in a previous time of their career. Top high
school prospect, top prospect going into college. Justin Fields was
really good in his first year at Ohio State. The
second year was a COVID year. And you're saying to yourself,
all right, well, maybe what is what? But now Justin
Fields has been in the league for, you know, for
(09:24):
a handful of years, with opportunities after opportunities, and I
just feel that we do know who he is, and
that actually may be a good thing with the New
York Jets. But I think to your point of what
makes Justin Field so intriguing is I feel so many
people do feel hey, wait a second, he could be
he could be that guy that made him that five
start to go to Georgia and do what he did
(09:46):
at Ohio State.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
You know, I don't know if he had all the
right opportunities with Chicago.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
You could argue he didn't.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
You could, especially with what Chicago's doing now to help
Caleb Williams. But I feel like with his short stint
in Pittsburgh, there was the flashes were there, the flashes
of there may be more that we haven't seen. And
you're probably right that because of what he did in
college and the expectation for so many years adds to
this as to why I'm intrigued.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Didn't he did he play with Garrett Wilson in college? Maybe?
And then then there's that connection.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
And also like the jet's going complete opposite of what
Aaron Rodgers is. You know they were they were so
he left them such a bad taste in their mouth
that they were like, we are gonna.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
Go opposite here of what Aaron Rodgers is.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
I think Mancy has struck gold because she just said something.
And by the way, for those of you that don't
know our coworker, Jade's episode of People Puzzler is on
our Fox local.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Oah, look at that.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yes, just just to let that people, if you catch
People Puzzler, are great. Co worker Jade, who is awesome
that she is. I know how this turns out, so
I won't spoil again, but I'm sorry what a co
worker is on a national game show.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
I have to mention gim a little shout out, of course, but.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
You struck gold with his Justin Fields point because we
blame the organizations instead of putting the responsibility on the player.
And I think it's easy to do. When you look
at the Chicago Bears and what a mess that it
was there, I think, yeah, I think that we do
(11:22):
that in these sort of situations of why maybe it
didn't work out, why they showed flashes. I don't know
if Pittsburgh is the greatest spot to be to be
in because recent history has shown they haven't handled their
quarterback position correctly. They didn't handle it correctly with Ben Roethlisberger.
They were completely held hostage by him late in his
(11:43):
career because he didn't want to retire, he didn't want
to leave, and so now you have Ben Roethlisberger, who
can't throw the football ten yards still as your starting quarterback.
So it's been so it's been mismanaged in a way.
To see how Russell Wilson played at the end of
the Steelers season made a lot of people like you
and car Rhoades, who we do the show with on Sunday,
questioning if you should have kept Justin Fields in the
(12:04):
whole time. And I think it's those questionable decisions that
lead to the point that you're saying, that lead the
door open. Absolutely, we don't want to blame the player,
at least in this situation, because there was dysfunction with
the Bears, no doubt about it. We saw it in
this past season when Justin Fields wasn't even there. That
was a constant you want to hope and you want
(12:25):
to believe that if things get straightened out like they
were in Minnesota with Sam Donald, look at what it
did for Sam Donald.
Speaker 5 (12:33):
I was just about to say, or you can even
think of Baker.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Mayfield, ye, him leaving a quote unquote bad organization and
where he is now, Like that adds to it. When
you see other players, you know, look at them, they
just needed to be in the right place at the
right time.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
I do want to bring in Chris Purfet, technical producer
Pride of Detroit, Chris Hi. I have a theory I
want to test this out with. Okay, but Chris profetsire
Jason Stewart as a glowing Cornell hanging out on Covino
and Rich Aaron Glenn had a first hand to look
at Justin Fields for a couple of years in Detroit
and now is his starting quarterback. Do you think that
(13:10):
played in in him going to and bringing him into
New York? Is having that first hand look of defending
him and watching him as he did those couple of years.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
I've got to think it's gotta play a role. Like
I've been trying to wrap my head around this Justin
Fields signing because on first of blush, it's just I
know there's not much of a market and not a
lot that the Jets can do on drafting a quarterback
right now. But like Justin Fields does not scream like
one of the first options you would go to. But
you've reset the culture there, You've cut out Aaron Rodgers,
(13:42):
and I do think there is something As I look
more at Justin Fields, like Okay, I can see that
vision there, Dan, because of the experience, he knows what
Justin Fields can do. You're not going to have a
great passing quarterback with him. But when you're talking about
Aaron Glenn, you're talking about what the Detroit Lions were
doing when he was there, and you know he brought
in Lions guys to be his OC and Tanner Engstrom.
(14:03):
It's a lot of tight end stuff, running the ball,
physical football. He's promised the same with the Jets, and
I've got to feel like Justin Fields, who we know,
he's very good with his legs. He's tough, and he's tough.
That's the other thing, Manzie, He's very tough. I start
to I'm starting to put it together a little bit
in my head. I still don't know if I like
(14:23):
the amount of money they've paid for him for that price,
considering he couldn't play a full season for the Steelers
last year. But I start to see the vision there.
And it is that familiarity Dan that I think makes
this work.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
So I just brought up Justin Field's game logs from
twenty twenty two and twenty twenty three against Detroit Passing
wise one hundred and sixty seven yards, two touchdowns in
an interception in their first meeting in twenty twenty two,
running the ball. I'm sorry, Chris, this may be flash.
Oh oh no, No, Lions ended up winning the game, but
thirteen carries one hundred and forty seven yards and two
(14:57):
touchdowns and sixty seven yard touchdown. Lions killed him on
New Year's Day of twenty twenty three, where Justin Fields
only threw for seventy five yards, had ten carries for
one hundred and thirty two yards in their game that
they had in twenty twenty three of their matchups they
had in twenty twenty three. Lions win the game against
the Bears in twenty twenty three on November nineteenth, Justin
(15:20):
Fields threw for one hundred and sixty nine yards in
a touchdown, had eighteen carries for one hundred and four yards.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
One of those games they almost got the Lions too.
I remember, yeah, Like, look, this is the two things
Justin Fields was good at against the Lions. Aaron gled
would know this. Aaron Glen's defense like to blitz a lot.
Fields was good against the blitz and Lions always had
trouble dealing with a running quarterback and Justin Fields can
do that. So yeah, I think the opportunity cost was
absolutely there for the Jets.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Yeah, I think that that makes a lot of sense
getting that first hand. Look, this guy tore us up
and we had a difficult time in dealing with him.
We want to run the ball, Aaron Glenz brought in
as a defensive coach. It makes it makes a lot
of sense. It actually, in a weird way, may made
more sense for Justin Fields to the Jets than Sam
(16:06):
Donald to Seattle.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
Well, I was about to say that.
Speaker 6 (16:09):
I I was about to say, so do you think
maybe no. No, It's funny because I was going to
ask you that because it seems as though if you
told me in the pre show meeting that you think
that the Seahawks are going to have a run first
approach to this season, and if you're going to do that,
then maybe Fields would have made a little bit more
sense than Seam Donald.
Speaker 5 (16:29):
But at the same time, I don't see it.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
I don't know if I would have been as in
j Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
I don't know if Justin Fields in Seattle makes sense. Correct. Yes,
I'm with you, And as I said, I feel like
I'm a Justin Fields fan. I just feel that I
feel that the verdict is in. Yeah, And I think
that the people who don't feel that the verdict is
in I hear you.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
The ones that have made the decision, they've made it.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Here's the funny thing about Sam Donald to the Seahawks
is that I don't even know if the verdict is
in on Sam Darnold, which I think it is, but
I just don't. I don't know there's any way that
he can match what he did last year, and I
hope they're just trying to get maybe eighty five to
ninety percent of that. He was in such a unique,
great position with Minnesota, with the coaching there and the
people there, and the targets that he had there with
(17:16):
Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and all of the weapons
that it worked out so well for him. It's going
to be tough to match that success. We'll see how
he does in Seattle. It's been an absolute, crazy, crazy day.

even though they are automatically in a lot of great
stuff with college. Basketball we're gonna get to what the
weekend was and we're gonna call it appreciation weekend that
comes in about thirty minutes or. So but there was
something that happened yesterday That manzi just really rubbed me
(21:26):
and rubbed so many the wrong. Way Michigan state has
a tradition for their final home game of the regular
season where the seniors are called off the floor for
the last, time and they get an ovation and they
go and they kiss the spartan that's at mid court
and then walk off the court with a big hug
(21:50):
From Tom izzo and a huge. Applause but for some,
reason Two michigan players had no inter in going along
and allowing these players to celebrate the school's long honored
tradition by standing on The Michigan state LOGO. Lj cason
(22:11):
And Fat. Brooks is that? Correct Fat Fat? Brooks AM
i saying it. Correctly we're standing at mid court while
these ceremonies in this tradition was trying to be carried.
Out it was at that point That Michigan state players
started to take an exception to what was going, on
(22:34):
and then a skirmish ended up, happening And michigan head
Coach Dusty may defended his team in a way at
the end of the game by claiming. Ignorance this Is Dusty.
Speaker 8 (22:48):
MAY i didn't know there was a tradition where they're
shooting free throw and we have guys stand in half
court that there's not a tradition that we can't stand
a half court as the game's going. On So i'm
not familiar with that. One is that a? Tradition oh, yeah,
YEAH i had no problem with. That and obviously it
took longer than any ten f to time out, monitors you,
know whatever the. Case it took a, while but we're
fine with. That they've earned the right for. That the
(23:09):
seniors have poured their hearts out as far as the whatever,
HAPPENED i, Did are we not? Aware are we not
allowed to stand in a half? Court why they shooting free?
Speaker 1 (23:17):
Though is that?
Speaker 6 (23:17):
What?
Speaker 8 (23:18):
Oh yare? Okay so, yeah so he walked up and
DID i, mean, look they earned the right to rub
our noses in. It it is what it. Is we
have to play, better we have to get, tougher and so,
yeah we got to compete for another.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Championship whiny little you know?
Speaker 4 (23:31):
What, OH i hadn't heard, that, absolutely what are you
talking about. This you know exactly what this moment. Is
this is not your two players just standing at half
court for no. Reason this is the last game of the.
Season you also, lost and not by a little. Bit
by The vinyl score That i'm looking at, here it
seems like You wolverine's got your butt kind of spanked
(23:52):
a little.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
BIT i am all on the side of The spartans
here one hundred. Percent you.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
Lost and to say that you didn't know this additional was,
happening mega, Cap.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
No, No, dusty make it. SAY i am in my
first year At. MICHIGAN i haven't played At Michigan. State
we haven't played at the end of the. YEAR i don't.
Know this tradition just came over From. Fau that's. Fine
the two players on his team knew the, tradition, yes
because they stood at mid court for that. Reason, Absolutely
that's exactly. Why so you can plead ignorance all you,
want and then if you want to double down with
(24:24):
the we can't stand at mid. Court here's the, Thing,
moncei AND i agree with, you BUT i actually come
from a completely different angle on, this because when was
the last Time michigan at the midpoints of a playing
surface got into some. Controversy it was In november when
they Beat Ohio state And College football and planted The
michigan flag on the bloco that is at midfield At Ohio,
(24:48):
stadium And Ohio state players took exception to that pepper
spray needed to be. Used it was a Big it
was a big deal at the. Time now granted may
of Field Ohio state to go win a national, champceampionship
but at that, point feathers were, ruffled to say the.
Least and so you have the discussion of does a
team have the right to plant their flag on a
(25:11):
visiting opponent it's. PROPERTY i think that that can be.
Disrespectful michigan at that point did have, scoreboard and it's
one of the points of if you don't like, it beat.
US i get. That that's not what yesterday was. About
yesterday was not about you have, scoreboard beat. Us what
it's about is your seniors having the four years or five,
(25:34):
years however long they were in the program to be
honored and represent them in front of the home fans
as a college basketball, player not even just as A
Michigan state. Spartan and that's WHY i have such a
problem with The michigan players doing. It it had nothing
to do with, them nothing to do with. Them they
(25:55):
weren't Disrespecting. Michigan by the, way it's not a tradition
in The Big Ten michigan And Michigan state to play
on the last game of the season at The Breslin.
Center that is not a. Tradition Ohio state's played there,
before other schools have played there and have allowed this
tradition to. Continue for some, Reason michigan feels that they're
bigger than anything else and feel that they're the ones
(26:16):
being disrespected when guess, what and some people in life
need to hear. This it's not about.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
You, yeah, yes it's you, know if the story was
that The wolverines, won maybe it, changes.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
Right it's like you should have defended your.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
Court, yes maybe, Maybe but the fact that that's not
even what's happening. Here it's sore loser mentality at the
worst possible.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Time there's also a point of it that manci OF
i feel like the, players there's like, this there's this
unspoken bond by. PLAYERS i feel that that should be. There,
yeah win or lose in regard to guess what this
GUY i just gave is four years or five years
(27:02):
to the, university just Like i'm doing the my. School
and when it's my day to be a senior, day
DO i want somebody standing on my block m At
Christler arena When i'm gonna say goodbye to the? Fans,
NO i. DON'T i just the dusty may portion of
what we can't stand at mid. Court guess not what this.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Is that's not what this. Is stop acting.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Stupid and you know, What, yeah you can't at that. Point,
yeah right out of the. Picture, again it's not about, you.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
Not about, you and that's not what we're talking.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
About stop trying to get technical right now and throwing
the rules at the reporters because that's not what's going.
Speaker 5 (27:35):
On and you acting stupid doesn't make it any.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Better and you're right because he could have just SAID
i was unaware of this. TRADITION i don't think that
MY fello has handled it. Right but you, Know i'll
talk to, them you.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Know and that's.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
It, yes absolutely. None in this day and age of
college basketball as, well when people are moving, here there and,
everywhere and you have seniors and some that have been
in the program the whole time allow them to get
there their. Flowers, NO i don't know how many seniors
were on The Michigan state roster to do, that BUT
i could tell you. THIS i Followed Big ten basketball
for a long, time AND i remember all of These
(28:07):
Michigan state players doing. It saw a video Of Cassius
winston doing it years, back one of the most Popular
Michigan state players. Ever, like this is a this is
a big, deal but it had nothing to do With
michigan at that point until they made it about.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
THEMSELVES i read that it was like a twenty year,
tradition like this isn't this isn't, new and like you,
said it's not this is like the, least it's not about.
You and there's no disrespect involved at, all because even
if The spartans would have, lost the senior still probably
wanted to do, yes but they, won and it's like
the game is, over like there's come on and uh
(28:40):
oh no. Oh IF i was A, spartan, OH i
would have been out there, throwing, swinging throwing.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
Punches Chris purfett don't throw any, punches BUT i would
have been, no no punches for. ME i do wonder
how much a little. Bit this is On michigan Versus
Michigan state as the rivalry because like being from that,
area it's big, brother little, brother and that's true of
them for, football but it's always been a lot, closer
if not an, edge To Michigan state in. Basketball this
(29:07):
feels like a concerted amount of disrespect to once again say, like,
no you're not bigger than. Us We're, Michigan we're The
university Of. Michigan you're the state school that other people
can't get. Into like there's this arrogance always Of, michigan
but it's always been closer in basketball than say, football
and this is the one place Where sparti can rub
(29:28):
their nose back in.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
IT i think that there's some truth to, That like
if they're Playing Penn, STATE i don't Think Penn state
players are standing on that. LOGO i think that rivalry
in what it means at that. Point but that is
also then the wherewithal of it's not about, you, right
it's not this isn't this isn't part of the. Rivalry
this is about playing four or five years at a,
(29:49):
school or playing your senior season at a school and
for the last time playing in front of the. Fans
michigan had their opportunity at their last game to probably
do the same if they wanted. To it's their fault
if they and onto their players who aren't going to
be returning next. Year Michigan state has done it. Forever
these players knew exactly what was going on and decided
to be jerks about, it and they deserve everything that
came their. Way And Dusty may's, excuse which just got
(30:12):
worse by the, second just does not fly with. ME
i was gonna give them the benefit of the. DOUBT
i really. WAS i read the comments at, first but
then when you hear, them you're, like get out of
here with that.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Junk, No, no he dug his. Heels AND i don't
see how you can Defend. MICHIGAN i, REALLY i don't see.
It how can you defend the players in THAT i.
CAN'T i don't see.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
Business So monsy AND i have talked about some of
the free agents signings in THE. Nfl two of the
bigger ones, Today Sam darnold to The, Seahawks Justin fields
to The. Jets Isaac lohnkron's been at the news desk
giving you not only the, signings but there's also been
trades in THE. Nfl yesterday there was a re signing
that was, surprising BUT i don't feel that it was
(31:28):
surprising in that it. Happened it's just more of the
amount of money That Josh allen got in his new
deal with The Buffalo, bills and it's the amount of
guaranteed money as well that everybody shocked fifty. Millions, monsey
you were the one that broke THE us for, us
(31:49):
and none of that Is none of that is shocking
when you look at what you're trying to break, down
where quarterbacks are on an average any. Salary that's where
we look at right. Now Dak prescott's the only one
who's broken the sixty million dollar. Mark So Josh allen
doesn't even break the sixty million dollar. Rank he gets
a new, deal but doesn't become the highest paid quarterback
(32:13):
in terms of average annual. Salary WHAT i find so
surprising with it BECAUSE i would think it would be.
Different but when we're in the moment and we go
To manzi for breaking news and she tells us the
contract That Josh allen, had you soak it up for
a little. While but nothing changes right like. That it's
(32:34):
not like The bills just added a wide. Receiver it's just,
that oh guess, what they still Have Josh. Allen they
just Have Josh allen now worth a lot more. Money
and then it dawned on me that there is this
group OF nfl players and it's mostly. Quarterbacks BECAUSE i
even Think Saquon barkley falls into this considering is most recent.
(32:55):
Deal BUT i don't care if You're Sam darnold Or
Justin fields or Brock per Or Gino smith Or Baker
mayfield Or Deak, prescott all of those players we are
concerned with their, salaries but there's this special group that
we don't care what they get. Paid And i'm trying
to figure out the select group that it. IS i
(33:17):
don't know how many are allowed behind this velvet, rope
but it doesn't. Matter it doesn't matter what their number,
is because we're not judging. Them we know their. Greatness
Josh allen is in that.
Speaker 5 (33:26):
Group, absolutely we're gonna.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Watch Josh allen just like we Watched Lamar, jackson just
like we Watch Patrick. Mahomes Joe. BURROW i think in
that group as well As burrow is very handsomely, paid
but we don't look at their number and, go, geez
this is what we're getting for fifty eight million dollars
annually or fifty five million dollars. Annually we do it
(33:48):
WITH dak sixty. Million whatever Brock perty is going to
get from the forty nine.
Speaker 5 (33:53):
Ers that's going to be the.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Reaction that is the. Reaction Jordan, love we do the same.
Thing Heck Gino, smith as it mentioned, earlier not you're,
like what are The raiders going to pay in? This
hucks and pay him. This if you can get into
that select group where it doesn't matter what you're being
paid and it's not a sign to how we judge
you week in and week out of THE nfl. Season
you're in a very very special, class AND i feel
(34:14):
That Josh allen's in that.
Speaker 4 (34:15):
GROUP a perfect example when we were talking To chris
earlier today about Justin, fields where he was, LIKE i
don't know if he's worth a twenty million a. Year
like we do that with, everybody and you're, right there's
only a select few that you read the news and.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
You're just, Like, okay that's, RIGHT i get.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
It nobody's nobody's, mad, nobody and then we move on
with our lives like.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Youth like you, SAID i think the timing of it was.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Surprising, yes but wasn't on our. Radar was not.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
On our, radar and that's the surprising of.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
It but, YEAH i mean the bills are just Showing Josh, allen,
hey we don't want you to go. Anywhere we appreciate,
you we know your, value and we just let's get
this done.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
Now Jalen hurts makes fifty one million dollars annually and
just won a Super bowl and he is not in that.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
Group, no he's. Not, No like he's he the conversation would,
be what is he? Making, yes that's, Crazy.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
Dan after a month, ago he's winning a Super bowl
and does What philadelphia has wanted him to do all,
along and we're still judging him still by Those do
you Think Justin herbert's in that? Conversation, ooh, well fifty
two and a half million dollars.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
ANNUALLY i am A chargers, fan SO i don't know
If i'm looking at this objectively BECAUSE i think he's worth.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
IT i think he's worth.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
It it doesn't matter to, you win or, lose interception
or no. Interception you're worth it out in your. Quarterback
let's go to Another charger, Fan Jason. Stewart do you
Feel Justin herbert's in this?
Speaker 9 (35:40):
GROUP i think when you're talking About, herbert you're talking
about the team that ended up giving him the, money
AND i think that matters because The chargers just haven't
had this significant of a, player seems, like in a,
while so it just seemed to be worth. IT i
didn't question the, signing SO i don't know IF i
answered your.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Question that's.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
GOOD i agree with. HIM i think history of The
chargers has added a layer to.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
THAT i don't look at, him BUT i also believe
In Justin. HERBERT i just there are other quarterbacks THAT
i think still think that jury is still out of
there's rookie quarterbacks aren't allowed in this conversation, yet but
they will be at some. Point Jayden daniels has an
opportunity to join that club whenever he gets if it
continues that, way MAYBE. Cj stroud does as. Well but
(36:23):
there's only a select, few and it's Mahomes Lamar alborrow.
Yep and that's that is it where it does not
matter on how much they. Make you don't worry about,
it but every other quarterback we. Do AND i feel
it with wide. Receivers Now saquan's got the twenty million dollar,
TAG i think it's going to add a different pressure
AND i still think that we'll look at, that especially
(36:44):
with the value of running. Backs you're not.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
WRONG i like That.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
She's Wonzi, Belaio So I'm Dan. Bayer we are allowed
