Speaker 1 (00:16):
It's like searching FSR. I mean that's not entirely true.
Welcome to coven on Rich, Fox Sports Radio. What's up?

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, maybe he don't know what he's doing. I thought
he was saying yesterday. I'm just kidding. What's out, buddies.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Yes, Yes, it's an exciting day.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Man, Jimmy Kimble's back. Yeah, I'm just kidding. I'm kidding again, Jo,
I'm just kiddy. No Radios. Cavino and Rich on a
Taco Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Steve Cavino, Rich Davis, I hope you had a lion
sort of Monday night, not a Mike Gundhy sort.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Of day, dude. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
No, we got prizes to give away show Time of
homes Trivia and we be rocking out.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Let's go, come on.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
We are happy for Guillermo though.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
You know what I do like Guermo. We hung out
with him at the Super Bowl. We were on the
same flight. So he's employed again. You hung out with
him at an airport, right.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Yeah, we were like best little bros.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, he's a likable guy. I was hanging with him.
Someone said, hey, comin on, Rich. I go, no, this
is Guermo. We're gonna get to a bunch today. A
lot of NFL Baseball, six games left. I got like
the nervous farts about the Mets. Sorry, Comino, I'm sure
it's not that weak ass Elpoyo local taco you were eating.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
It's a damn good taco.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
But I do want to point out one thing to
start the show, when the recently fired Mike Gundy gave
us one of the best quotes in sports history.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
For me, I'm a man, I'm forty.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
By the way, that was eighteen years ago this week.
Couan years ago yesterday, which means he's fifty eight right now.
Steve Kill quaff from outer space? Have you seen the
quaff on this guy and his hair caused the TV
last night. I'm looking there, I'm like, is that my Gundy?
I put my glasses on and there he is, in

(02:11):
all his glory with the most quafft tasting pompadoor I've
seen in years. Let me just say this, from the
age of forty to fifty eight, is that what's gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
On my hair?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
His hair has an age depended jeez, because I was
gonna say I was like a twenty something, you're old
punk when he said that, and I remember thinking.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Like many years old. Remember when you were twenty something
and you thought forty something was old. Yeah? Yeah, when
it wake my old self and the nuts. Yesterday was the.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Anniversary that legendary quote, right, and then he goes and
gets fired on his day off, I mean on the
anniversary pretty anniversary pretty much of that legendary quote.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
And now he has to rearrange it and say, I'm unemployed.
I'm fifty eight. You can get fired on your day off.
I'm jobless. I'm fifty eight. I think sad cool.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
After me, I'll be at Express Pros.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Yeah, I'm trying to find me. I'm not trying to
have fun at his expense.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
I'm just saying how ironic that the anniversary was yesterday,
and then I see him on TV looking coftastic, and
now we find out today he's fired because of fan outrage.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Really.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
I mean he's not delivering again. Twenty one seasons Oklahoma State.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Then they fired Gundhy and after a big loss to Tulsa,
and I think he retires one seventy and ninety.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Let me tell you quite a run.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
And I'm sure he's made quite a bit of money.
And I just realized that if I guess, if you
add a van to the Gundhy, you take away the hair. Yes,
van Gundy means no hair, Gandy means no great hair.
Van Gundy in German means combover. Yeah, van gundy, van
Gundi means no hair, Gundy means great hair, and Gundy yeah, man,

(03:51):
he looks like Frankie Carbone. Well before we kick it
to some NFL and some Baseball wild card races, I
do want to say, Hey, no one likes to see
if someone get fired, but the guy guy's got a
great head of hair and he has a great resume.
I just find it ironic that on the anniversary of
that famous quote, a day later he gets fired.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
I did one point out how time is flying.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
We hate those memes, like, can you believe it's as
far away from nineteen whatever it is from the future?

Speaker 1 (04:16):
And I hate those memes.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
But we are celebrating the twentieth anniversary this year of
forty year old Virgin. So when Steve Carell was the
forty year old Virgin that was twenty years ago.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Is that wild to think? Hey, re clam is a
flying the.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Last Chase two always says time's flying, man, God, he
hates when people's times flying.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
I just.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Kind of feel bad for the guy, though. I do. Yeah,
I do, And I will say this, people get fired.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
I will say this, he left his he left his
mark in sports quotable history. I think it's a top
five quote. I think practice practice. I think that's one.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
We're talking about practice.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
I'll give you another one. Can't wait. Care Bart Scott.
I think I'm a man on fort he's right after.
I'm not saying top three. I think I think Danny
Green they are who we thought they.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Were the off.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
There's some good ones. We don't need to look at this.
I was, I was Sam on the buttons. I will
say it's a great conversation. We've had it before. We
don't need to harp on it. But hey, Mike Gundy,
good luck my friends, good luck dude. But I mean
he could always be like a model for like no,
like a haircut model, Like I want that one.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Like he's on the chart, you know when you go
to barbar Yeah, can I have that one?

Speaker 3 (05:33):
That's where Lamar Jackson got that one?

Speaker 1 (05:36):
I want that want?

Speaker 2 (05:37):
The wait is that the soul Glowe new from the
barbershop and coming to America.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
All right, So I want to talk Micah Parsons.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Let's let's first say that last night Sunday Night Football,
not to brush over it a great battle.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Did I say Sunday Monday Night Football? Now?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Their defense has some issues the Ravens, but it's I
can't stop the run. But it's safe to say though
that they're they're one of the better one and two teams.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
You look at their schedule. They may not lose for
a while.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
With you as far as offensive star power, But if
Derek Henry can't hold onto the ball, then you can
throw that out the window.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
It's there.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
To get beat, they're gonna have to play a team
that could also put up thirty forty plus points because
I feel like that offense will put up thirty plus consistently.
I think if you're gonna beat the Ravens, you just
got to have an offense that has firepower and move
the ball, and you got to own time of possession,
keep the ball out of their hands. But I think
the Ravens are going to be just fine one and two.

(06:33):
It's like the uh one and two Broncos better than
one and two. Well, we'll see a couple of teams
turn around. Think their schedule is that easy? Though, you
went over it earlier today. We have a Patreon, by
the way, so Rich and I start fighting bright and
early in the morning.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Look up Covino and Rich. You'll find it.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Man, and you went over their schedule if you want.
It's not a cakewalk by any means. You want uncensored, Yeah,
off the walls, but yeah, you real quick, do you
want to schedule? Watch just for a second, because as
you're saying, hey, they're a good one and two, but
they are playing from behind, they are showing issues with
defense and holding onto the ball, and their schedule is

(07:09):
not that easy. So you can't you can't say it's
gonna be an easy road for the Ravens.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
No, no, no, let's take a look sam schedule watching.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
The Rich loves to look at the schedule.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Game schedule watching damn.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
They play the Chiefs. I think they beat the Chiefs.
It's in Kansas City. They're only favored by two and
a half. And that's a big game this coming Sunday.
That's your primo game. Looking you know six days out
that defense is not going to beat the Chiefs. You
don't think, you think, Okay, all right, so that's a doozy.
One of those teams is going to be one in three,
which is wildly bizarre to think that the Chiefs or

(07:47):
the Ravens will be one and three. Then after that
the Texans, who are zero to three, not the Texans
of the last couple of years.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Then they play the Rams, who are pretty tough. That's
gonna be a good one.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
The Bears, who by then maybe Ven Johnson and Caleb
Williams have it together even more so. And then they
play the Dolphins, the Vikings, Browns, Jets. They have a
couple games in there they win easy. But I think
the Ravens are just fine. No one wants to start
one and two, but I think they should.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Be all good. But Lions looking strong.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Thirty eight to thirty, like even with a bad performance,
the Ravens were still in the game. I'll give you
that much. I'll give you that bit thirty eight to thirty.
But they'll get it together, you would think, right, Derrick
Henry really has to hold on to the ball, and
what can I say about that? Just is not fumble
and they'd be in a better place. As the headline say,
you know Baltimore blunder I'm seeing on FS one. Nick

(08:39):
Wright was talking about it. ESPN's talking about it. It
is a time to panic for the Ravens.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
I don't think yet. There's a long schedule ahead and
they have it's incredible issue.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Yeah, hold on to the ball because even with weak
ass defense, they would have been in the game, no dignity,
no doubt.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
How about his reaction where you like flop back onto
those the bench bench like throwing a tantrum. That's what
my two year old looks like when it gets in trouble.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Was that intentional or is that like the jog off?
Did he know when you trip?

Speaker 2 (09:03):
You know when you trip and you start jogging to
make it look like the trip didn't happen?

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Did he? Did he stumble and then say I'm gonna
dramatically roll.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
No, I don't think it was a stumble. Was more
like his body was just having a reaction.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
It was like a fumble.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Yeah, So we hope you enjoyed your Monday night foosball.
Congrats on a big win to the Lions two and one. Now,
but in the other football news of the day, Micah Parsons,
is it Parsons or parcels Parsons, Michael Parsons, Mike Parsons,

(09:37):
Michaeh Parsons in the news, because well he's heading back
to Dallas now, this is wild, just as the schedule
gods have probably high fived each other. Sunday Night Football,
Week four of the NFL takes us to Dallas, Texas
for Packers Cowboys and of course Sunday Night primetime Game

(09:59):
of the Week, the most view fo game.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
On the NFL schedule every week.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Sunday Night is where it's at, two turntables in a
microphone and Sunday Night Football where it's at. And there's
talk of should Micah Parsons get a video tribute in Dallas,
and Jerry Jones has already said like, not gonna happen,
not today now, this will this will not go down.
It's a lot of extra work for the media. Guy too,

(10:24):
for four seasons with the Cowboys. Does it matter how
the time was spent? Like he was a dominant force
with the Cowboys. Fans love him. Are you doing it
for the fans? You know, there's so many ways to
look at this. I'll give you a great Remember how
he bad mouthed Jerry Jones.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
Let me get you. That's a big part of it.
A great analogy.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
When you date someone, Okay, when enough time passes, you
could look back and be like, you know what, we
just weren't meant for each other. She's a great woman.
I think I'm a pretty good guy. We were just
not meant to be married. It just it is what
it is. But you know what, we have great memories, Maddie,
good times fantastic or when a player leaves a team

(11:05):
via a trade or hey, listen, we're rebuilding. We got
to unload our stars and free agency or the trade deadline. Recently,
you know the Mets, what was the big what was
the big raw Rah twenty twenty four Mets thing? Remember, Oh,
oh my god, Julio.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Glecias, it's Jose Glacias.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
I was gonna say, Julio, I love to say Julio
Jose Glaciers with oh my god, that whole rage. He
came back to City Field. He was only in the
Mets for a year, but his vibe was awesome. He
didn't burn the Mets, so they did a little oh
my god, hey, thanks for last year thumbs up, a

(11:47):
little montage on the screen. Yeah, he did nothing wrong.
He brought a lot, He had a nice run. He
was a fan favorite. I think that matters. How did
you exit me all? I think it matters did you
start your career there? Like are you a lifelong kind
of guy? I think that helps in the argument, Like
the glabor of love. Glaber Torres just came back to
the Yankee Stadium as a Tiger and he got his

(12:08):
ovation and everything else.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Again, a guy that started his early rookie.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Career with the farm system and the New York Yankees
who recently came back to the Dodgers and they threw
a Dodgers hat on him and started hugging him. World
Series champion last year. But we are a little but
a guy that won. I know, I'm putting you on
the spot. To anybody, it was someone someone that got
their ring, could be on the Reds. Maybe someone came
back to Dodgers Stadium and they threw abe. No, no, no,

(12:33):
they threw a hat on him and Jock Peterson. No
it wasn't Jock.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
No, it was to give him his World Series. I
would have noticed that Tobago Gavin Luck was Gavin Lucks.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Gavin Lux came back, they threw Dodgers had on him
for like twenty seconds. He reluctantly was like fans right,
No one wanted to see Gavin Lucks. That's another reason
to celebrate. He had a championship run. He was part
of that team. You know, all these things are factors.
But does everyone get a montage? I feel we're montage crazy.
Enough time, enough time had passed where the Mets felt

(13:05):
it was okay to give Jacob de Grum a little
video montage a couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
But you see this in the NBA all the time, bro,
you do.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
But let me tell you what do they say? The
paint has a dried? What is it saying? The blood
has it? Whatever it is? Ink? Something about that? The ink?
The ink? Uh foolly?

Speaker 2 (13:21):
Once Jerry Jones, we're talking like like weeks ago. This
guy told Jerry Jones to kiss his ass essentially and
force this.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
And Jerry Jones is.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Not pleased with Michael Parsons as he liked to call him.
So if you think Jerry Jones should give this guy
a tribute, he should tell Michael Parsons to Uh. I
can't even say what I think Micha should tell him
that too. He didn't want to work with Micah's agent,
go kick Rocks. They're both in you know, they both
have fault in this.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
But I agree this is one of those too soon
sort of like.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
If this happened a year from now, without a doubt,
but it would be like your girlfriend, don't you for
the mailman?

Speaker 1 (14:02):
And then uh, then you're bro hugging the mailman like
hey man, all good.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
I almost feel though, like Richie in sports, this has
become as soon as they come back for the first time,
we acknowledge them a year out, it's too far removed.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
It's yeah, this is too fat, too much, too soon,
and also what did you win over the last.

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Couple of years and other way it's four years like worthy,
I guess he's just start no drafted up, But to
me that's like I feel like you got to have
a standard or else? Again, are you giving the media
guy a bonus four years? Because I think it has
to be you one with the team, or there's a
five year I think there's like, hey, did he play
more than five years?

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Did he win? You know what? It's like.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
We work at Serious XM and iHeart. Not everyone is
worthy of a month time. Occasionally I'll get an email
at iHeart or Fox Sports or Serious XM and it's like,
this is like my farewell letter and someone writes some
long ass letter like their farewell and they're like, I
worked in the marketing team for the last two years,
and I'm like.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
No one knows you. You don't deserve a farewell letter.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Not okay, but let me ask you about that.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
I agree, you have to have work there a few
more years than that.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
What about the impact with that fan base though? For Dallas?
How many jerseys did they sell for Micah Parsons That's
pretty much all you saw at Dallas home Kames was
a fan favorite.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Does the Jerry Jones put his ego aside and say
for the fans he's worthy of a montage? That's the
question what we're getting at right now. So we look
to get from him in ninety nine on Fox. I say, no,
I think there has to be solid, valid reasons. Like
I said, five or more years you won with that team,
you had to be a star player. Like, yeah, he
fits some of the criteria, but I don't feel like

(15:33):
he checks all the boxes for a mandatory month degree
and his return to Dallas with the Packers, now, can
I tell you it fits the criteria of but not
all of it. If Covino and Richard gree and I
will say him on top of that, yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Think he cancels it out.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
I think it's it's I listen, I think like a
Parsons is a star. I think even if this was
in again week sixteen or eighteen, we're talking weeks ago again.
This is like you found your wife sleeping with your
best butter and then you're like, yeah, hey, honey, you
happy anniversary.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Like you know, it's when the Cowboys fans reacted though.
Were they mad at Jerry or were they mad at Parsons?

Speaker 1 (16:14):
The pain's not even dry yet? Is that The phrase?

Speaker 2 (16:16):
I think I think I said is that Yankee fans
were burnt about soda, right bodies, not war. That's what
it is. The body's not cold. Cavino, I think you're
we're ding beats. Cavino. I feel like you're sort of
on the brink of not hating Wan Sota the way
you did because time has passed enough. You had a

(16:38):
full scenes where're like, yeah, I don't like them, but
you in the beginning of the year, you're like f one.
So honestly, if you want an honest answer, I'm realizing
after the heartbreak, much like any heartbreak in life, after
the loss, I'm like, we're better off.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
I'm better off, And.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
That's the truth because without Juan Soto, we were able
to get freed, able to get Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Say what is it all worked out?

Speaker 2 (17:01):
But in the beginning you were very med Yeah, Bellinger like,
there's a lot of key players that we would have
had if it wasn't I think we got four key players,
you know, in place of Solo.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
I'll take that out of any day and retrospect.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
And while the Mets are fighting for their life, Wan
Soto had one of his best years in year one
as the Mets, So it's like a win for everyone
sort of. But in the beginning, that would be like
if the Mets play the Yankees in the first week
or so all the season, and the Yankees gave him
a tribute.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
No way, the wound is still fresh. Rich.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
But if you wait a whole year, Rich Rich, If
you wait a whole year, then what's the point. Wait
till he's retiring. Then you know, I've just never do it.
That's what I'm saying. It seems weird after a whole.

Speaker 2 (17:41):
I think, if you burnt the bridge, you've lost your opportunity.
And I feel like he burnt that bridge. That's another
major factor to the story. The exit. We already mentioned it.
But he burnt that bridge. You bad mouthed the owner,
you leave, the team.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Paid him the prior season.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Yeah, but that's how it's perceived, right, So I don't
care about No, we've seen this.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
We've seen that Jerry Jones do this with how many players, though.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
That would be like noting not to take it to
like pop culture and you know, political stuff his house.
Like if next week ABC's like we're throwing Jimmy Kimmel
a happy Birthday party or so it's like a week
ago you were at odds Like, it just feels like
the timing's off. Jerry Jones and Michael Parsons, it would
feel so full, gazy and faith all. Yeah, don't do

(18:26):
it at all, and we got to keep things in check.
It's like when people retire, everyone wants some sort of
farewell tour. Now, No, you got to be of a
certain level and a certain standard to garner some sort
of farewell.

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Tour, Like how did it? You got to be a Kershaw?

Speaker 3 (18:40):
And he didn't do it. He announced it right before
his last start at home.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
But he's worthy of it.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
And I was there when he actually spoke to everybody
at the last at the recent home game. You know,
you gotta be of a certain caliber of a player.
And I'm not saying Michael Parsons isn't that guy, but
he's he's left on bad terms at this current point.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
Can I tell you it's uh.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
I don't want to be the I don't want to
sound grumpy or like the grumpy old guy, because I
do like celebration. I'm the guy I like gender reveals
and parties and get togethers. I find there if there's
a reason to celebrate celebrating. I'm not a grumpy guy.
Just to set the record trade, I'm I'm I'm actually like, hey,
bring on the fun. But I think we went from
lifers getting these tributes to like, like regular players, Like

(19:23):
when King Griffy Junior returned to Seattle, he gave them
a tribute right when I don't know, I could Justin
Turner return somewhere like to the Dog Like you know,
like there's certain players that when they return to a team,
you're like, yeah, you were cool in a fan favor
for a couple of years. Like should Michael Canfordo get
a you know, a little montage when he comes back
to the Mets.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Not Justin Turner, like Chris Taylor coming back to the Yeah,
visit and like Chris Taylor, good, do.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
You want a World Series?

Speaker 1 (19:47):
Which one? But I'm saying no. Rich is saying no.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
Does Caruso get a tribute from the Lakers? Like you
know what I'm saying. I'm saying no. Danny g was
on the fence, but I think he's saying no.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
What do you say? Fox Sports Radio Nation?

Speaker 2 (19:59):
Does Parsons get a montage at his return September twenty eighth,
Sunday Night against the Cowboys? What do you think? We'll
take your phone calls and feedback. Plus, oh, Tom Brady's
in the news. Mike Gundhy's in the news. We're gonna
talk about coworkers and colleagues, baseball rules and show time

(20:20):

of these X booms for the kids. Walk up music? Yeah,
how about how about Steve's walk up music? I want
one too.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
You want walk up music like the edge of the bedroom,
the whole world? An you and your nose picking kids?
How about this guy?

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Thank you? What do you want? Do you want a
grant entrance? Yes?

Speaker 2 (22:18):
And I also want to say sorry to Mike Gundy
for getting fired on the week of his anniversary.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
So he's a man, He's fifty eight. I'm a man.
I'm fifty eight. By the way, I'm a man.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
I was trying to think of other quotable legendary quotes.
I mean we forgot playoffs. Playoffs, g MOR's playoffs. I
think it's top five. I think it's a top five
quote playoffs. Those are all good ones. Man, we're talking
Michael Parsons. We're talking about a bunch of random stuff
here on Cavino and Rich, but arguably after Parsons, the

(22:53):
biggest story in the news today, Yeah, is that starting
next year. I hate when people they hate when something's
like it's a new rule and it's starting in three years.
Like I love the immediacy of like baseball saying with
you that next year begins the robot era.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
Robot era begins. Strake Strike three Act. It is from
Rocky four. Happy birthday, PAULI. No, man, it's awesome.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
MLB is going to implement the automated ball Strike Challenge
system in twenty twenty six after the league's Competition Committee
approved robot umpiring. I mean, human umpires obviously will call
every pitch, so you're still gonna have the human element,
So don't be crying about it.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
I think they're not taking our job.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
But I think there's some idiots to just read a headline,
because I've already seen people saying, like, man, no more umps.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
It's like no buffoons umps.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
Teams can appeal two calls per game to abs. They
didn't take our advice, Rich, I know it strike three,
they get a third, right.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Yeah, if you get the first two right, they should
have given you a third.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
But you know what the NYG we saw it x
cuted in the Major League Baseball All Star Game this year,
Edwin Diaz was on the hill for the NL. He
thought he cut the corner on a third strike. He
did a quick tap of the hat within three seconds.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
Boo boo boo.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
I think it takes strike for thirteen seconds is what
I heard. But I mean it feels very quick. And
what is really cool about it is that it's very interactive.
During the All Star experience, we all saw like, oh
it was a strike. It goes right to the screen.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
You're there.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
You get to be part of the process at the
game and on TV because you're.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
Seeing it there, you could see it.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
They gotta get it right. There is a simple, great
strategy also involved. Where do you use these challenges If
it's the first inning and there's two outs going on,
is your guy.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Gonna be like no, no, tap tap tap, Like you
might want to say actually the technical term is rap
tap tappy.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Oh, if you want to do a little rap tap tappy,
rap tap tapp, you have to get rap tap do
you have to go a little come come on the
kick drum, come come, come on the kick drum and a.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Wrap tap tappy.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
So I think this is great and you kidding me?
Innovateor die. This is the next step into getting it
right and helping the game move along.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Some people like keeping Mike keeping a human layer.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
To this, Mike is like, forget the human layer and
maybe you know we're getting to that eventually because I'm
a fan of the you know layer as well.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Big Mike, who runs this from Mike, is like, yo, man,
Big Mike.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Big Mike actually said self check out everywhere. I want
people to lose their jobs. I believe it's a big mic.
The rules are simple ABS challenge rules. Each team gets
two challenges and can keep them if they're successful. Challenges
can only be initiated by a pitcher, catcher or a
batter no Bellyacher's rich pictures and the requestments come right
after the pitch. To signal a challenge to picture or

(25:37):
catcher or batter taps his hat or helmet to the
umpire no help from the dugout, which was weird to
me because that's obvious. But with all the ways they
communicate from dugout to catcher and everything else, there's no
way if everyone if everyone's saying right, then you're gonna
do it.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
How are they gonna implement that rule? Damn buyer.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
I'm not a I'm not a you know, I'm not
a man that listened to everything Rob Manford and baseball says.
But I really feel like everything from the pitch clock,
to the bases, to the man on second and extra innings,
which I thought I wouldn't like, all these things I
feel like have been good for baseball.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Are you opposed as a traditionalist.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Or no, No, I am, I'm not opposed. I do
think that we are so focused on the robot aspect
of it that I think we need to develop like
a character, like a cartoon, like a caricature of like
a judge who will then hand down the ruling on
if it was a ball or strike. Make that guy
a character throughout all thirty ballparks.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
What what if the.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Local mascot appears like it could be mister med or
Bernie the Brewer or anyone comes out and they come
out with like I was a green or red flat.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
I was thinking, like Judge doubl Eday, you know that
that works like with the history, and then it's this
this animated feature and then he comes down and he
hits his gavel with the ruling and it's ball. You know,
like that, all thirty stadiumsform, Yeah, something like that, like
you're outs. I think that that would be great. We're

(27:05):
very focused on the robot, but I think we need
to do it like branch out in that way.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
So one of the headlines was the robot Era begins
or something like that. That's what they're calling it. And
I just think that it proves that baseball's headed in
the right direction. You get a little compromise of human element,
but moving toward the future, getting it right is the priority.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Anyone that doesn't like it, I think is sort of
off the mark. I do. I agree with that.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
I feel like the NBA, the NFL other organizations have
for the most part. I feel like the only misstep
with the rule change that we all agreed was remember
the past interference challenge, and it was just so subjective,
and I think we all agreed, like, all right, it
was a good idea, But on any given play, you
could be like, well, dudey Tuger's jersey like a tad,

(27:50):
like we figure these things out as a collective. And
I think, who's going to argue the games? Sped up
games exciting? Baseball, tendance is up, viewership is us interacted.
They got young star players. Now, who's going to oppose
two times a game for ten seconds? Yo? It was
two and two, bottom of the sixth yo. That was

(28:11):
outside challenge, not dude to cut the corner strike, especially
in you know, a big moment, right, you want to
get it right. And Dan dan Byer made me think
of something else. Remember the game Take It Back on
a Tuesday. Remember the game Karate Champ, the arcade game.
You're thinking, we're like a robot version of Stop Judge.

(28:33):
It was long pause. I was strike. Oh sorry, Judge ball.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
I think if it was just a drawn up character,
you know, like he's got the long hair, maybe kind
of looks like Ben Franklin a little bit, but he's
the hated guy throughout all the ball parks, or the
celebrated figure. I'm picturing Judge Wapner's that's interesting.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
J Judy, Yes, here it is.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
Get the women involved. Let's do it. Steve Harvey, I
love it.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Show me there were seats, so strike baseball taking another
cool step.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
I think, I know. Could you know, we al sort
of agree that it's a no one's gonna argue that.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
No brain I will say, if you told me the
whole game is going to be auto robot umpire, I
think I've been like, really that's I like the umpire,
I like having the blue back there, but I think
the two challenges pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Love it. What's interesting, though, is the comments underneath the
articles today rich so many fans, and they're saying, why
not just let the AVS system do the entire game?

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Yeah, I think that's too much, too soon, even though
I wouldn't really be that opposed to it. I do
like the human element still. You may want to get
there eventually, but it's like, think about it, like if
you want to trust something kinky in the bedroom, you
don't go for it right away. Your work, your work,
your way up. So he starts with a pinky, right, Yeah,
I mean, but I'm just saying you don't know, saying
like you don't you don't.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
Go for it all at once, talking about adjusting your
bad of course, yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course we only real.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
He said, all right, let's go to our buddy d
B for an up. Let's see what's going on with
Dan Byer.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
I think each team should have a robot hitter or pitcher,
so like, if you want to throw one eighty, you
know to bring him in, like you can only bring
him in.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
For one inning. Yeah, but I mean you talk about
throwing heat.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
You have a robot that can throw one eighty root
or basses juiced bottom of the ninth. You bring your
robot up, disassemble. He hits an eight and ten foot
grand Slam to win it. That would be amazing Baseball simulator.
Do you ever play that game?

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (30:39):
I loved it playing on that was it out on
the moon or outer space?

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (30:44):
The one other baseball note to pass along Guy's Red
Sox moving up Garrett Crochet's spot in the rotation. He's
going to pitch tomorrow against Toronto. That would allow him
to either pitch in a wild game one of a
wild card series, or even in relief if they need
him on Sunday, depending how things shake out later this week,

(31:04):
so Boston right now in that two spot in the
wild card in the American League, but just to game
up on the Astros and Guardians who are also battling
for that final playoff spot.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Know, imagine if the Detroit Tigers go from by far
the best team in baseball to missing the postseason altogether,
it would overshadow my Mets collapse. Yes, Hey, didn't sound cliche,
but that's why baseball. It's a long seasons beautia. But
I mean there's ups and downs. When you realize that
the Guardians and Tigers play the next three days. Talk

(31:36):
about anxiety and nervous stomachs in Detroit.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
Yes, oh my good. Absolutely.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
In other news in college football, Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman
candidate John Mattier will have surgery tomorrow on his right
hand and is out in definitely. ESPN reports that it's
a broken bone in his hand, Sooner Scoop said it
was a thumb injury. Regardless, Matier's going to be out
a while. He was the Heisman favorite. Michael Hawking Junior
will now start a quarterback for Oklahoma against Kent State

(32:03):
on October fourth. They've got Texas in Dallas on October eleventh.
Mike Gundy out as the head football coach at Oklahoma State.
Jackson dart in as the quarterback of the New York Giants.
He'll get the start in Week four against the Chargers.
Russell Wilson moves to the bench. Buccaneers wide receiver Mike
Evans is going to miss about three to four weeks
of action because of a strained hamstring. Commander's wide receiver
Terry McLaurin getting a second opinion on a quad injury

(32:25):
suffered in Week three. His status for Week four against
the Falcons is up in the air. Some sad news
from the NFL. Former Bengals running BA Ruddy Johnson found
dead at his home in Florida early Tuesday of an
apparent suicide. He played collegiately at Auburn, where he was
the SEC Player of the Year in two thousand and
Johnson spent seven of his eight NFL seasons in Cincinnati.
Some news from the WNBA. The New York Liberty have

(32:46):
fired head coach Sandy Brondello after four seasons. Liberty won
the WNBA title last season.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Guys, back to you, hey, thank you, dB. That's another
story we need to touch on. Rich Jackson Dart getting
the start.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
You know.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Wait here today and on my way to our Patreon
today I saw a sign. It was a bunch of protesters.
We're not getting political. I'm just telling you what it said.
It's Los Angeles, a lot of protesters causing traffic.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
It said public pressure works. Kimmel is back.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Oh, you think there was a lot of public pressure
for Dart and that's the reason. Why is that the
mean or they just have to they have no choice.
I think Gabel left it open because he didn't want
to be the guy too.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
This isn't though.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
My thought is this, we know the realistic answer for
the giants is take it east with Jackson Dart.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
You don't want a Daniel Jones situation where you ruin
a guy.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Then he goes to be awesome somewhere else, saying you
don't want to ruin his confidence either. But Brian Dabell's
fighting for a job and and you know Brian Davill, Yeah, left, but.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
There is a lot of public pressure there, Danny.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Is that a fair statement that like Brian Dabel, well,
he cares about Jackson Dart. At the same time he's like, yo,
I gotta I want to win, so I have a job.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
Yeah, listen to the stat all right, Sunday night. It's
the seventh game the Giants have scored fewer than ten
points since the start of last season. That's the most
in the NFL and four more than any other team.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Geez.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
So yeah, Like, I mean, they got to try something.
While it might be too soon, Brian Dables like, yeah,
too soon for Jackson Dart. But if I don't do
something soon, it's not even gonna matter because I won't
be here. I'll be out of a job. So it's
self preservation at this point. And if throwing Jackson Dart
in early is the you know, the long shot of
Dable sticking around, he has to do it.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
Well.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Speaking of that news and you mentioned Daniel Jones, I'm sorry,
Indiana Jones.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
Yeah, he's in the news.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
Saquon Barkley said something interesting about him, and I want
to pose a question about former co workers and who
you root for that sort of thing. Plus show Time
Homes Trivia, We have an action packed Taco Tuesday show.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
You said you know?

Speaker 2 (34:49):
And Rich On Fox Sports Radio, Robot Arab begins.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
Strake three Zra out whoa strike three stop Judge ball.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Beginske strake three, Zra out Did you did you say
Judge the Ale runner up for EVYB Yeah right, Yeah.
That clip is getting buzz if you want to go
to our Instagram at Covine on Rich.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
Also reposted on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Covino not even he's saying, it's not even a debate
Aaron Judge over cal Raley and not a debate if
home runs an RBR with a b all end All.
Where was his award in twenty seventeen on Stupid Out
two v one?

Speaker 1 (35:46):
Okay, sorry, chime in.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Watch a clip from yesterday show Cavino at his most
fired up when he defends the Yankees.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
It's like he's defending his family. Well, I don't want
to get into it again because it's live.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
It's time for the tyrack Play of the day Covino
and Rich live from the Fox Sports Radio Studio. Lions
running back David Montgomery went off last night.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
Yeah, buddy, here it.

Speaker 4 (36:10):
Off, takes turns, gives to Montgomery two heads on that football.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
There he goes over the right tide twenty five twenty
cut to.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
Right fififteen down of the tenth out of the time
to the end zone touchdown Detroit Lions demo to the
house thirty one yards and the Lions.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
Have put this game on ikes.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Averaged twelve point six yards of carry one one. I mean,
that's pretty pretty damn pretty good to call Larry David.
Lions went thirty eight to thirty courtesy of ninety seventy
one the ticket. That's the ticket Lions Radio network. That
was our tire rack player today true. For over forty years,

G on the Phones eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox,
Sammy Sweetheart on the ones, and two spots on the videos.

(37:08):
Against streaming live, we now stream live. You could chat
live Covino and Rich FSR on YouTube.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
And if you missed.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
That conversation yesterday about Judge clearly being the MVP, I
know people love the cal Raley story, but we don't
create MVPs on a catcher's curve. There's no charity bonus
points because you're a catcher. He leads in every other
major category. Everyone, if you missed it, watched a full
show yesterday on the YouTube channel Covino and Rich FSR

(37:38):
or social media at Covino and Rich. Any other thoughts
on Dark because that's the other big story. We talked
Micah Parsons and his return to Dallas. Should he get
a montage? I think we're montage crazy. I think we
are not everyone's worthy. You need to check off all
the boxes and you can't burn the bridge on your
way out and expect the montage. We talked about the

(38:01):
new MLB rule ABS starts in twenty twenty six. Nobody
here as opposed to that. If anything, we're saying, yeah,
make the whole thing ABS. But I do like the
human element. Jackson Dart's the other story. He gets the start.
It's gonna be exciting, It's gonna make people want to
take a look. The kid looks like he has the
enthusiasm and potential.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
Of people love this kid.

Speaker 2 (38:25):
But you know what, that's the that's the risk, right
you want to crush this confidence with a crappy ass team.
We don't know, but I have a question if it
was it was your last if you were the coach
Daniel Jones examples is a great example. If you're the coach, man,
if you were in there, if you're if Steve Cavino
is Brian Dable guy's got the same hairline. If you
guys were the same, dude, if your job was on

(38:48):
the line, you talk you, I got a Mike Gundy hairline.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
Bro.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
If your job was on the line, you care less
about the future and feelings of Jackson Dart if your
career was on the line, like again, if you had
if you locked up, and it's some like hey, Hardball's
gonna be there a long time, or you you know
you're Trump Payton, We've invested in you in the future.
For Denver, Brian dables On, he's one of the coaches
that are on the hot seat. His guy, his care,

(39:13):
his care for the players is going to be less.
I know that sounds bad, but it's true. You're fighting
for your life man.

Speaker 3 (39:18):
Well we also have rookie examples now of c J.
Stroud and last year Jade and Daniels, So it's not
always throw them in and they lose their confidence and
you got to have confidence in your O line and
have a decent running game. And if the QB, even
if he's young, if he has good poise like Jaden
Daniels last year, then you know he can obviously ride
out the season with a lot of wins.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
I guess we'll find out. I just it was sooner
than expected, at least for me. You think Danny g
you called it right like around week four he said,
You think you think cat like Malik Neighbors is really
excited about some new young arm and maybe be like, yo,
maybe you and I have the one two punch for
like the next year's to come.

Speaker 1 (39:54):
Like, is Malik Neighbors salivating at this?

Speaker 2 (39:56):
You think I spoke pretty highly of Wilson before the game.
He gets paid to the chemistry, he had it to
speak highly of his QB one. But maybe now Malik
Neighbors is like, how this is? This is where we
are moving forward? Hey, I guess we'll just have to
wait and find out, right,
