Happy Thursday check. Actually you know why. I know it's Thursday.
It's game day in the National Football League. Yes, but
the heartbreaking news for Chargers fans it starts again. You're
at Isaac giving you the update on Rashaun Slater Chargers tackle.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
It's just annoying.
Speaker 4 (00:43):
It's just annoying.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
That's like same same, same, same, to stop myself there,
same stuff, different day.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Yeah, let's let's go to the news desk. Isaac'scott the latest.
There's a reason.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
And within the last few moments, multiple outlets are reporting
that Rashawn Slater sustained a season ending torn pateller tendon.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
So this is the Chargers tackular sign that was at
four year, one hundred and thirteen million.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Ear How much was it four years?
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Yeah, you can pay four years, fourteen, fourteen, Okay, And
now done for the season. However, there's another layer to this.
There are franchises who feel cursed and I do feel
that this is and I'm sitting in the presence right now.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
I have a lot of Charger fans that sixty.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Show has ties to the Chargers. Iowa, Sam Andi not
so much Chargers Mazi Chargers fan season tickets within the fam.
Jason Stewart's been a Chargers fan so much so that
he buys old Derwin. James Jersey and Isaac Longcron is
the pre and postgame show for the Chargers or host
(02:06):
for the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
And by the way, the Chargers just officially announced the
news out for the season.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Are they like, is this is this a curse? Isaac?
Is this? I mean? This is It feels like it's
just more of the same.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah. Literally, on the day the Keenan Allen comes back
to the team, enthusiasm wasco so sky high. This is
actually the second season ending injury that Rashaun Slater has suffered.
He tore a biceps tendon I think in either twenty
twenty two or twenty twenty three, in about week four,
(02:41):
so it's the second one. But it absolutely fits into
the narrative, the Jacksonville thing a couple of years ago
in the playoffs, the Raiders thing before that.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Yep, I think the games are separate of the injuries.
Jason Steward, you say that as well, just to bring
you in on the conversation. This season. I understand like
the heartbreak that you have in games or the blown leads,
but to just not have guys available period, I think
is something that seems to be specific to the Chargers.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
I think the latter is goes back further than this,
but I think how things went down and they're moved
to Los Angeles and stuff. I think that karma comes
through on the field when they have all these weird
things happened during games. But yeah, the injury thing seems
to predate that. Like many years, like there's always seems
to be something right when you think they're about to
(03:33):
do something big, somebody goes down.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
And I don't want to be morbid, actually, but the
only Chargers team that ever made it to the Super
Bowl was the nineteen ninety four team thirty one years ago.
An unusually high number of players on that team died,
and they died young under unfortunateances.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Yet I for one to not realize that's where he
was either I did not either. It was true. Well,
I'll say this, that is also the last time that
Rich Davis's forty nine Ers won a Super Bowl. So
when Rich talks about that, you'll always now remember Isaac
bringing up that point of the of the Chargers. It
(04:16):
does Derwin James was hurt early in his career. Isaac
just mentioned that this is the second time that Slater
suffered a season ending injury. I'm sure we can. We
could go through the list, but.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Joey Bosa last year was injured on and off the field.
Like it, it does feel cursed, and maybe that's just
the easiest way to accept it.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
The Uh yeah, it's just it's just the.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Easiest way, because I agree. It's not the games, like
those heartbreak games where we've lost the lead. I don't
want to say that's the curse. It is the injuries,
and they happened it seems like every year, and like
Jason said, you feel like they're about to do something.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
And now I hate to say that because I don't
want to. I don't want to given out and they
still have joe Alt sure, you know took in the
first round. But now it's going to be well. If
Justin Herbert would have had Rashawn Slater protecting his blind side,
that could have you know, it could have been a
different story. Like these are the These are the outs
(05:16):
that end up popping up if things don't work out
in the Chargers favor.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Congratulations to the Chiefs for winning the division.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
I don't know, hey, I will say this. I'm not
sure Denver doesn't win that division.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Yes, that's also a fair point. Yes, yes, I guess
I was just giving the edge to you know.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
You market down Sam right now, Monzie Picks Chiefs. We
don't even have our we don't even have our sheetout.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Doesn't count, it's not written down.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
Now for a look at the Major League Baseball standings
Wild Card edition, let's go to Manzy Belondah.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Yeah. Ye, the Marlins and the Cardinals are half a
game apart for the final wald Card spot.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
In the National League. They're in the standings, in the.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Stands for the final wald Card spot.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
Yes, five games, five and a half of the Cards
Marlins are six pack. That's yes. Just to clarify clarifying there,
and I'm not gonna talk too much. Hit her up
at Manzi, Blagos. You can find me at dan byer
Un Fox. Totally totally kidding with all that. You know
who did some talking Archie Manning, Yes, the grandfather, the
(06:16):
NFL legend Archie Manning, but the grandfather of arch Manning,
the starting quarterback of the Texas Longhorns. In speaking with
I'm not laughing. Okay, I'm not laughing because it's a
legitimate publication. But I just love how this came out
Texas Monthly. So there's yes, yeah, there is. I think
(06:37):
you would get Texas Monthly at like the like the
Austin Airport. Yeah, you know, in someplace where it would
be very you know where they have a bunch of
different travel stuff like you know, here go check this
out and grabbing down Padre Island. Look at all these brochures. Oh,
here's Texas Monthly. Archie Manning, speaking with with Texas Monthly,
(07:00):
says that he hasn't discussed the possibility of arch going
to the NFL Draft after this upcoming college football season,
with Archie then responding, quote, arch isn't going to do that.
He'll be at Texas end quote was what he told
Texas Monthly and speaking of arch sticking around not only
in twenty twenty five obviously, but also sticking around in
(07:23):
twenty twenty six. Do you believe Grandpa in this situation
when talking about his grandson.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
I do believe Grandpa. I want to call Grandpa arch
and then the young one Archie's confusing that it's the
opposite way, but let's call him Grandpa. I'm just saying, yeah,
let's go with Grandpa here, so no one is confused.
I do believe Grandpa. You know. I know now players
or college athletes are getting paid with nil deals, But
I have always wondered why Cooper Flagg didn't play another year.
(07:54):
I feel like your college experience has it's a time
limit and it ends and it's over. And I would
always say, stay in college, play one more year. You
can only live this for so long. But I always
get the responsive. But you make your money once you
get to the pros. That's where you get the bag.
So that's why you go to the pros.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Cooper flag situation was a little unique, and then he reclassified, right,
So the reason he reclassified was to get to the
NBA sooner. It wasn't to be.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Even with that even making that decision. I don't get
that even making that decision so early on, I don't
get that. College is only four or five years max.
If you read her and then it's over and then
that's it. So I just I don't get that. But
Grandpa is probably like, of course he's gonna play. He's
not looking for money, that family doesn't need money. Why
would he go get that bag. They're telling him to
(08:44):
enjoy his time in college. And isn't that what Peyton
Manning did. Isn't that yes, what they've done.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Yes, yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. Peyton even more so than Eli,
because Peyton could have left in Men the first overall
pick when he decided to stay at ten. See now,
Peyton felt that he had bigger fish to fry, wanted
to win a national championship, could have could have won
the Heisman Trophy, lost out to Charles Woodson that season,
(09:11):
but that was all still on the board. If Texas
wins a national championship this year, which is not out
of the realm of possibility considering the coaches just order
them preseason number one, there they are firmly in the conversation,
and if they won it, it wouldn't be a surprise,
and if Arch the most popular player by far in
college football, like the the rankings of popularity entering this
(09:34):
season in college football, it's Arch Manning and Bill Belichick,
Like that's that's your two names. When you're looking at
you're looking at, uh, what's it? What's your last Hudson
and it's with an oh, Like it's Jordan with an oh.
But you have Arch Manning, Bill Belichick, Jordan Hudson and
(09:55):
then Carson Backwait now I'm kidding of Carson Back. But
the they're the topic of conversation. So if Arch, like
Arch has the popularity, no disrespect to her Amia Smith,
I'll move on now. But Arch has the popularity in
the name where there's going to be an advantage, Like
if he puts up the numbers and he does what
he does, he's going to be on everybody's ballot, like
(10:16):
there's no doubt. So he could win a Heisman Trophy
if Texas has that success, and then if he wins
a national championship, that would be the question that I
would have for Arch to leave early. And I also
think this, and I'll still stand by it, and I
know that it's been woven in and out of topics before.
(10:37):
But I said last year, and Jason Stewart can even
vouch for me on this is I felt that if
the Saints of the first overall pick, that it would
be quite the decision for arch Manning. And unlike the NBA,
the NFL allows you to find out who the first
overall pick is because there is no lottery. There's no
draft lottery in March to determine who gets the number
one pick. You know who has the number one pick
(10:58):
as soon as the NFL's regular season ends, and then
players will have two more weeks to declare if they
want to go to the pros or not, so arch
Manny will know who has the first overall pick. And
so there have been other teams that have been drawn
to connections. But if New Orleans, who we think is
going to be pretty bad, has the first overall pick,
I still think that arch Manning has got a decision
to make. No matter what Grandpa tells Texas monthly, I
(11:21):
still think that the decision is out there. And if
he accomplishes everything that he has said to accomplish at
Texas this upcoming season, there may not be a reason
to stay in Austin for another year.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
I don't disagree with you. I think Grandpa is saying,
like the plan is for him to stay. That is
the plan. The plan can change if something arises, or
Grandpa is just saying this to get a little bit
more NIL for Archie. I know, again, arch Grandpa Grandpa
(11:52):
is Archie.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Says, calling him Grandpa.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Me too, because Archie should be the smaller one and
arch should be Grandpa Grandpa. Maybe it's just like, yeah, Texas,
he's going to be here, so we can establish more
NIL deals, let's say. But I think that is their plan.
I believe that that is the plan. Can the plan shift?
Speaker 4 (12:12):
Of course it can again with the Mannings, though I
don't know if nil matters.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
That's fair, but it would be more of a making
his name bigger. It's already big, but it would just
make it bigger.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Yeah, I don't, Yeah, I just I think it's as
big as it's like, he's already the biggest name in
college football and he's not even a full time starter,
you know what I mean? True, Jeremi Smith is dominating
defensive backs for most of all of last season and
could be a top three pick if the Drafter is held.
He could have been a top three pick in the
(12:44):
previous draft, maybe even higher. But it's all about arch Yeah,
and it's all about Texas. But I think it ultimately
goes back to the point of what Peyton did, what
Eli did, is it's a different family. They've done things
there certain way in the past. By the way, it's
Cooper's son, it's Peyton and Eli's nephew that arches. But
(13:05):
how they've done things in the family has proven well
for Peyton and proven well for Eli and in their
pro careers, So why would they do something different? I
completely get that, and I think that they're much more
centered than maybe other people are on this topic when
you're talking about what do you do? But I just
(13:26):
think like, if Peyton would have won a Heisman and
would have won a national championship at Tennessee prior to
a senior year, does he stay? And I think Arche
has that possibility to accomplish those things. And again, if
the Saints Archie's team, they're a hometown team where the
Mannings grew up because Archie was playing for New Orleans.
(13:46):
If they have the worst record in the NFL, do
you feel obliged to say, all right, well, we'll go
to the NFL. Now that's where I think the door
is open, as we don't know who's going to be
the worst team. But if the Saints go two and
fifteen and we don't believe in their quarterback room right now,
I think then Art still has that decision to make,
and maybe he'll announce it with Texas Monthly. I'm not sure,
(14:09):
but I still think that there's a lot left to
be decided on whether arch returns or not Texas Monthly.
I like that. Jason Stewart, you have arch Manning sticking
around to twenty twenty five and twenty twenty six. You
agree with Archie. You know me like I rarely. I
rarely take what people say as truth almost rarely. I'm
(14:33):
a cynic by nature. So you start thinking about why
Archie would say this if it isn't true. So the
first theory is that, yeah, he's trying to secure like
long term two year NIO money. He's telling those companies
we're going to be around. The other theory would be
he's trying to completely take the pressure off his grandson
because in the same article he said it's ridiculous to
(14:56):
consider him the Heisman Trophy front runner, he's on. He
played so many games. I'm thinking maybe that if it
isn't true, maybe that is the reason. But no, I
actually do believe him in this one because there the Manning,
Archie Manning, Peyton Manning, Eli Mannings always have always been
like straight with us. So I don't I give no
(15:17):
reason to deny this. I will go back to what
Manzi said at the beginning, which I think is the
maybe the biggest play in all of this, because what
could happen. I from what I said could happen, could
still happen, And on August seventh of twenty twenty five,
this may be their truth. But the question is does
(15:37):
Arch Manning and do the Manning. Does the Manning family
want Arch to leave that college experience in life behind
because they've all gone through it, they've all, you know,
made that decision. And if it's all there for Arch,
even if he does win the Heisman and wins the
national Championship, where I don't think you would have anything
(15:58):
to prove to go back. That's not what Manzi's talking about.
Monzy's talking about. You say goodbye to college, you go
to the pros, You're never ever going to get that
back and so, and I think that's to Jason's point
of he believes that that's what Archie Manning is saying.
I just think right now, it's easy to look at
that and say, oh, he'll be back because he's not
a Heisman Trophy winner or a National championship winner right now,
(16:21):
I think or the Saints have the first overall pick.
But if that trifecta happens, I'd be hard pressed to
not see arch go to the National Football League because
it would just seem like it was a storybook situation
if he goes to a team because the Browns have
been brought up as a possible connection. Nobody wants to
touch the Cleveland Browns, right They're a toxic brand right now.
(16:46):
That would be excuse enough for arch to say, like,
I'm gonna stick around. I'll roll the dice and see
what we've got in twenty twenty. You know the twenty
twenty seven draft. But if it is a team like
New Orleans with all of their ties and Archie's history
with that franchise, I think that there still would be
a decision to make totally.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
If there is a story like that, I understand it.
I also feel that they have a pretty These manning
guys have to look at Arch and say, all right,
this kid does have talent. We know he can succeed
in the NFL. More reason to have him enjoy his
final two years in college. I just I think, yeah,
(17:27):
they're being realistically, like, you're really good. You're gonna be
fine whether you do this for two years or one
and then go to the NFL. But I think the
plan is for him to enjoy his college.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Quite the decision. And by the way, if Arch were
to leave after this year, I mean, it wouldn't be
leaving after your junior year, Like it would be the
shortest amount of time he's been in the Texas program
two years now. This is his third year in the program,
Like this is the first time that he have the
opportunity to be able to leave, and so with paid
(18:00):
and like staying his entire four years there and starting
from day one, that wasn't the situation, uh with arch
In being there. So there's yeah, a lot of questions
to pop up Texas Monthly. By the way, you need
a subscription to read the article. So I mean I
didn't mean to downplay Texas Monthly. I wasn't trying to
(18:20):
throw shade on it. But it's not like the Longhorn Insider,
you know, right right, there are like all Texas all
the time, like like one of those stories, like it
feels like it's a lifestyle texts ESG.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Covers all of Texas.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
Yes, right, and they had the scoop at least on
what Archie Manning thinks of what his grandson is or
isn't going to do. She's Monty Blanhos, I'm Dan Byer.

Thank you, thank you, Happy Thursday. What are your final
thoughts on Grandpa? On Grandpa.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
Arch and Archie in Texas Monthly and the drama that
is there's even more to it of the Manning of
the route. As I mentioned, Arches eligible to go into
the NFL Draft after this season, as he'd beat three
years removed from his senior year in high school. Eli
completely red shirted his first year at Old Miss, didn't
(19:34):
play at all, then was there, so he was there
for five years two thousand, ended up two thousand and
three in that season, and then drafted in the two
thousand and four draft. But so he was at ole
Miss for a while. Peyton played right away at Tennessee,
so he spent four years with the volunteers. But arch
red shirted his freshman year at Texas with just a
(19:57):
couple of snaps. So they could even drag this out
long if they wanted, if they wanted to. But it
does it does seem that it may be fast tracking
to Archie's point in twenty twenty five, but twenty twenty
six maybe seems to be their sweet spot that that
they feel that all right, if he had three years
of significant college playing time, because he did play some
(20:18):
last year and he would be the starter for these
two years, that that would be enough. That's something that
you could maybe read into it, because he could have
another year of eligibility.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
If he wanted to, if you really wanted to.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Because twenty twenty three was considered a red shirt season, and.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
I don't I don't know if they're going to drag
it out like that.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
No, and that's it. Yeah, I don't think that's.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
They're trying to drag it.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Out like that, but where that this would then maybe
be something that they're even though he says they haven't,
he hasn't spoken to him that this would kind of
have been their plan. If he's, you know, not talking
about twenty twenty.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Seven exactly exactly. Is it time for a new job,
then it's time for Express Employment Professionals. Quit the endless
online job search, enlist the pros and expres us never
charges job seekers of fee. Go to expresspros dot com.
Vegas used to be a place where you could probably
get a job, but I don't know that's right now,
(21:12):
not so much right now. Have you read or looked
into the tourism in Las Vegas. There's so many articles
out there of how low the turnout is. Whether you
want to say it's too expensive or is it that
this young generation doesn't need to go to Vegas to
gamble because you can just gamble on your phone all
(21:33):
day every day. I remember when I turned twenty one,
I was like, I can't wait to go to Vegas
and go gamble and sit at a roulette table or
at a slots machine and have fun. And I don't
know if the younger generation just doesn't feel a need
to do that because they can just gamble. Also reports
that the younger generation doesn't drink as much as the
older generation because again maybe they just had access to
it early on, so they're not drinking as much. But
(21:55):
the tourism is down in Las Vegas, and I'm just
wondering what this means when it comes to the a's
that want to go to Las Vegas. What about the
NBA that wants to expand there are people gonna go
to Vegas to just watch a team because before you
used to go to Vegas for a bunch of things
(22:15):
you and you don't got to convince me I'll go
to Vegas. Yeah, I just I just don't know if
this is gonna be successful.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
You also live a four hour away drive exactly eighty
nine dollars plane ticket exactly, and that's that's not everybody.
And I know that's a decent amount of it. And
there was even a point, I would say, Mancio, over
the last ten years we live in southern California, and
not that it's a running joke, but more people would
be like they would they go to Vegas for the
weekend instead of staying.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Here, right, yes, absolutely so, Like.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
You would think that Hollywood in LA would be the
place to be, but no, everybody goes to Vegas. And
I don't think it's a generation thing. I think it's
solely an economic thing. Yeah, and where the casinos and
everybody involved wanted to get fat, they wanted to get rich.
One of the great things that I remembered when I
(23:06):
turned eighteen and then you turn twenty one and you
can go into a casino was the drinks in the buffets, right,
because it's so much of it. And granted you can
get overcharged for buffets, whatever the deal is, but you
felt like you were getting your money's worth because you
were eating what you wanted. You were maybe playing a game,
you're at a slot machine, you're getting free drinks. You
(23:29):
felt what you were putting into the machine you were
getting back. And I don't think that that's the case anymore.
And I feel that now with everything being expensive on
top of you going there to lose your money, because
that is still the number one reason for as great
as there they're they can sell so we love to
go for the shows. We saw Blue Men Group, we
saw Lady Got Go. You know, like, that's all fine.
(23:50):
You can't tell me there wasn't a point where you
just went in and put a twenty dollars bill in
a slot machine or placed the online sports bet. I
think it's the cost of everything that is the reason
that it's what down ten percent, twelve percent? Yeah, it's
completely outrageous. People want to go away and get away
and have fun. They don't want to lose an arm
and a leg doing it. So I don't believe it's
(24:11):
a generational thing.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
You do hit something big when it comes to the prices.
Back then it was like, oh, a hotel room costs
this much, and it's like, yeah, that's what it costs.
And then there's one hundred and twenty dollars in fees
and taxes added to it. When a resort fee what
is a resort fee since when? And now they're charging
for parking in some of the casinos and hotels. Before
(24:34):
you used to be able to just park and go
spend your money and give it to them. So maybe
you are correct that it's just they're trying to get
more money in every possible aspect of Vegas. When before
you didn't feel like that. You felt like, I'm gonna
lose money gambling, that's it. But now you're losing gambling.
You're losing money before you even get there.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
I also think of the sports aspect of it, the
Golden Knights had the best of it because they were first.
They were the Raiders. Come in. The Raider have a
built in fan base that is going to go to
Las Vegas no matter what. Now you have the AIDS
come into town. There's zero connection. In fact, they burned
every bridge that they had with any of their connections
back to the Bay Area. And now I looked at
(25:13):
the weather forecast for the next week, is going to
be one hundred and eight every day there, And so
then you lose your wallet to just stay there and
go to games. And now you're going to watch a
baseball team in the middle of July and August that
right now hasn't been competitive, and there's been no signs
really that even if they moved to Vegas, that this
(25:36):
could be a competitive team again. And I think that
the NBA aspect of it. In the NBA, when it
was announced that they were going to be playing games
in more European cities. I do think it's a viable
option for the NBA to turn their attention to Europe.
Not that you would have a team in London or
a team in Madrid or Berlin playing against the NBA,
but there is talk about them having their own European league.
(25:57):
Whereas if you wanted to expand in the United States,
Seattle is an obvious answer, but I don't think that
Las Vegas necessarily is. I don't think you're gonna get
the equity that the Golden Knights had because they were
first with an NBA team. I don't think you're gonna
get that automatic draw and maybe great for the players
to be able to have a new spot where they
can go out and party when they're on a road trip,
(26:19):
but other than that, I don't I can't say that
I would think that it would be overly successful. The
Raiders and Golden Knights were unique in their own way,
and now if people aren't showing up, I don't know
how out of town tourism and a local fan base
would be able to fulfill the needs of the A's
and a possible.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
NBA team, and to try and compare that. You to
try and compare any other team to an NFL team,
It's apples and oranges. NFL will will thrive anywhere, right,
it doesn't matter. They're going to show up. The fact
that it's Raiders are going to show up even more
because they already have a good fan base. But basketball,
if they were to move there, you can kiss Summer
(26:57):
league out the window, like people are not gonna go
to that. And people were complaining this season about summer
league out. Before it was like you could go watch
a summer league NBA game for forty dollars and now
they're charging almost one hundred dollars. So if you're charging
that for a summer league NBA game, what are you
gonna charge for a regular season NBA game?
Speaker 4 (27:16):
And you're gonna go down there forty one times.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
A year exactly, No, you're not. You're not. And like
you said, the locals there are gonna be like, I'll
go to a game. But I feel like also the
Aces have their their fan base too. They also came
at the right time the WNBA team. I feel like
I went to an Aces game three years ago, sold out,
sold out, there, there were chants, they were like I
was like, oh, this is a real fan base here
(27:39):
in La for or here in Las Vegas for the Aces.
I I don't see how the NBA could be successful there,
and I really don't see how baseball could be successful there.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
I think it would if if it was successful Monti,
it would just fall into the mix. Like if Seattle
gets the Sonics back, that's a huge deal. Las Vegas
getting another team.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Is just another thing to do in Vegas. Yes, it's
like put the Savannah bananas there. Put the Savannah bananas
there consistently for a couple of times a year, and
then that's how you're going to get people to go.
If not, if you have a real baseball team, it's
just a thing to do. And in Vegas there's so
many things to do. And if you're having five baseball
(28:22):
games a week, you may get a couple of people
spread out throughout the week. It's it's it's not like football,
where it's one game a week, only what nine eight
games depending on your schedule at home. It's not the same.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
I have a four year old and we were looking
at things to do to get away for a couple
of days, and we brought up Las Vegas and for
us it's like, all right, we would want to stay
away from the strip.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
You go to Circus Circus.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
Well, but like that's like I think that there's there's
a portion of that as well. These articles aren't about that.
This is about the strip.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
This is like literally Vegas.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
Yes, But my other point is if we wanted to go,
and again, the Raiders fan base is unique. If we
wanted to drive, we could go to a hockey game
here in southern California, absolutely, or there'd be a place
closer by. There are very few places where Las Vegas
is the close place to go to a hockey game
or an NBA game or a baseball game. It's because
(29:23):
it's really in the middle of nowhere. And that's another
portion of it is if you're looking for other places
to do things, you can't go somewhere and see Lady
Gaga or see the Backstreet Boys at the sphere. You
have to go to Vegas for that. But if you're
trying to get your fix to go to a ballpark,
there are other trips that you can take in different places.
If you're in a situation like me that we wouldn't
(29:45):
need to go to Vegas for you could be like,
oh well we'll just we'll stay here, or we'll go
to a Diamondbacks game in Arizona, we'll see the Giants
in San Francisco. Like there's not it's not that big
of an area where other people would be able to go.
What I'm saying is of the Vegas isn't growing, But
it's just the fact there's other options for driveable games.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
Yeah, it's like it's something, it's growing. It's just that
there's so much to do there. There's so many options now.
And again, like if you are a baseball fan and
you want to go watch a game, and you're like,
let's make one trip to watch a team. Maybe you
want to go to Fenway, you know, maybe you want
to go to Wrigley, you want to go to Camden Yards.
Like you're not gonna be like, let's go watch the
A's in Vegas to check that off the box.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
Yeah let's not. Let's let's go to Vegas in one
hundred and eight degree weather to watch to see the
ballpark and then have to pay four hundred and fifty
dollars for a hotel room and meals that are absurd
and lose money and lose money. Yeah, I get that. Yeah,
it's I don't think it's generational. I think it's all
about the dollar bill.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsportsradio dot
com and within the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
App Apparently Travis Kelcey and Taylor Swift think so she's
Monty Belanios, I'm damn buy her in for Covino and
Rich here on Fox Sports Radio. I will say I
saw the barstool video where they asked their staff on
what were the four major US cities? Did you guys
see this? They went around to their staff, got a
variety of answers, Yes, four major US cities. Give them
(31:16):
credit because this was their idea and seeing other outlets
try to do different versions of it, and Monty and
I gave ours back and forth during the break. If
I were to say the four major cities in the US, Iowa, Sam,
what would you say, I'm gonna go population For the three,
I'm gonna go La, Chicago, New York, and my fourth
(31:37):
I will say it is oh Man, Dallas. Okay, interesting,
I like that.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
Jason Stewart, I I'll supplement Dallas with San Francisco. Oh,
you put San Francisco over I put Houston. I had
New York, LA, Chicago, and Houston because of population that
Iowa Sam talked about. I think Houston's the fourth biggest city. Yes,
so that's where I went. Manzi went a little different route,
(32:06):
you know. She went with the little Latin flavor South Beach.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
She did.
Speaker 4 (32:12):
She had Miami. I thought of Miami two.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Yeah, yeah, but it's whoever. There was one person who
didn't have LA. That person needed to be fired from.
One person didn't even mention LA. Go home.
Speaker 4 (32:24):
Nobody. Nobody mentioned Cleveland. And again this is not a
disrespect Cleveland. I like Cleveland. I enjoyed. I've been there
a few times, checked out then Indians now Guardians again. Yes,
been to a Browns game. Was there for the seven
NBA Finals when the Calves play the Spurs. So I've
been to Cleveland a couple of times. And my niece
(32:46):
is going to college at Kent State, which is in
that northeast Ohio area. So I feel like I'll be
in Cleveland again, and maybe when I'm there, I'll bump
into Travis Kelcey at Cleveland Native and Taylor Swift because
they were spotted house hunting in Cleveland. And this raised
my eyebrows, both of them, yes, both of them. The
(33:09):
right one raised because I'm like, Cleveland, Yeah, that's exactly
like I could understand Nashville, and it's not meant to
disrespect Cleveland. It's also like Will Travis Kelsey is getting
his way and choosing. Then I realized they probably have
ten different homes, so what's wrong with having one in Cleveland?
So I get that he's, you know, from the area,
(33:30):
but the second one was also It told me that
now they're looking at life after football, because there'd be
no reason to go to Cleveland at this point except
for maybe a couple of months in the summer when
the Chiefs would be starting training camp. So this to
me was a sign that maybe not that they're about
(33:51):
to get married, but that his playing career may just
have twenty twenty five left in it.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
I don't know if I want to go that far,
but obviously they're playing for the future and this is
going to be just one of their many homes. He
grew up in Cleveland Heights, so it may be that simple,
just a place for him to be near home when
he wants to go home, and we're thinking too much
into it. It may I don't want to say that
(34:17):
this means it's his last year, even though he's getting
up there in age and mileage and all that makes sense,
makes sense.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
This was a guy who again went to South America
during a bye week to be with Taylor swift yess
so I can't remember. I thought it was Argentina, and yeah,
that is Argentina. I thought it was Yeah. But my
point is is he didn't go to Cleveland for his
bye week like he went to get Away. He went
(34:44):
to get Away. So maybe you go to Madrid. I
don't know Rivier house, what that could be. But he's
not going to Cleveland on a bye week, right, and
so what would be the reason then to have a
hou there. Granted again you could and maybe more about
them being married than anything. But I just found it
(35:06):
interesting that they are. They were house shopping in Cleveland.
If you would have said Kansas City, got it, Nashville understood.
But it is interesting.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
And this is the one that gets leaked because you
know they've looked into other places, but this is the
one that gets leaked because it hits close to home.
Speaker 4 (35:23):
Yes, and it is.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
I think that's the story where people are like, oh,
does this mean he's retiring? Does this mean that I.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
Think it got leaked because they thought of the marriage?
Is that what you did you think of playing career?
Did you think of marriage when you heard this story?
Jason Stewart, that's interesting. No, I honestly when I when
you presented the story to me, I just think rich
people buying property and none of us could relate to it.
(35:49):
I couldn't really look too far into this. I didn't
see marriage. I didn't see future. Oh but I was
the one who didn't believe the relationship, apologized to Monson,
to that one, yeah, okay, yeah, I see rich people
buying real estate here, Dan, I get it, But why
would why would you buy it in Cleveland?
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Like if you're looking to make a buck, right, this
is not you putting up an airbnb.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
Yeah, and there's also there's fewer people, Like there's fewer
people in the Cleveland then you would say like in
South Beach or Home Beach, Florida, Like that's where you
would buy. And then there if you wanted to sell,
there's a lot more other people who would be able
to buy that property. If you're buying a fifteen million
dollar mansion in Cleveland, you're not gonna have as many
prospective buyers as you would somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
No, this is this is definitely for their future, for
when they have babies and want to visit his.
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Family and that time. Ye and that and low attack taxes. Again,
Cleveland rocks for those reasons. Maybe Taylor Swift will be
getting that rock.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
I think she may already have it and we just
don't know.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
Well, we'll discuss it tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Okay, why not.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
Danny g isn't here to find it. She's Monty. I'm Dan.
It's been Covino and Rich and Fox Sports Radio. See
you bye,
