Speaker 2 (01:13):
Future dudes in the future listening to the podcast, thank you.
I hope you're having a great hump day. And to
wrap up this other misinterpreted story, Rich Dalton Connect had
a night. Hope you had a Dalton Connect sort of
night again, thirty seven points in thirty eight minutes. He
went to a junior college in what northeastern Colorado? Right, Yeah,
(01:36):
didn't have a lot of hype nine for twelve for
threes yesterday.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Well you had hype ones. He transferred to Tennessee and well, yeah,
he stole the show there. But yeah, but I'm building
up to lebron quote in a second. But he tied
Deontay George, who he played last night with nine three pointers,
tying a rookie record. Right, but he was signed by
Side on all these memes with Jordan, so I thought
he tied Jordan's record.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Joy, they were just funny out Jordan had nine to
his whole rookie year, exactly exactly. But then people start speculating, like, well,
where did Connect come from?
Speaker 1 (02:14):
How did the Lakers land Connect?
Speaker 2 (02:16):
We had all this talk about Bronni No, he was
the guy that people should have been talking about.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
And here's what Lebron had to say about it after
the game.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
They didn't find dk. The other sixteen teams up.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Oh did anybody watch them? They just didn't get up.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
And there was a sense of pride Lebron had, like
he's like, Yo, this dude the way he said that
and his facial expressions like Yo, this dude's the real deal.
He's always been in six in a row. Yeah, six
in a row for the Lakers, and we didn't find him.
The other team just dropped the ball on him. Yeah,
they affed up. Now, if you want to play that game,
Dan Bayer, I know you're a historian of the draft.
(02:55):
It's always fun to go back, you know, five years,
eight years, ten years and go through the first round
and second round and be like, wow, teams were way
off on this guy or this guy or how did
this guy slip to the second round.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
That's always a fun game to play. Yeah, yeah, it
really is.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
And the Lakers are, you know, reeling in those fruits
of that. And it's funny because I also get the
sense that Lebron is trying to say, I knew, I knew,
I knew you know, just like you know that yeah,
like like yeah, that's you know, But I knew I
I had known this guy and seen him. His story
is crazy. Came from a junior college, didn't play to
(03:32):
the D two, then transferred to Tennessee where he was
the SEC player of the year. That enough in and
of itself would be enough to be on a team's radar, but.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
He was an older player.
Speaker 4 (03:42):
Do you know what we look for in NBA drafts,
the young untapped talent, the eighteen and nineteen year olds
that we think are going to become the next Yannis
and Steph Curries and whatnot. And here Dalton connect comes in,
maybe a little bit older than everybody else and ends
up stealing the show in a great fine for the Lakers.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
No doubt, No, We're gonna get spots midweek Major in
a little bit. But I did want to talk a
little NFC West for a second as before, because as
a forty nine Ers fan, I'm not saying I'm nervous,
but I am, Damn Bayer. Your Seahawks host the Cardinals
(04:20):
this weekend. I'm trying to figure out who I want
to win because I'm already scoreboard watching. I know everyone goes,
I don't worry about your team, But the Niners play
the Packers, they have a rough week. If they get
by that, I'll be shocked. But if you're a Niners fan, Covino,
who do you believe is your stiffer competition? Because two
(04:42):
of the next three weeks, the Seahawks and the Cardinals
play each other. So if I'm wanting Kyler Murray out
of the picture, I'm secretly a damn Bayer Seahawks fan
for the next few weeks because I feel like Cardinals
might be who Niners fan should worry about the most.
And that's a one point spread. I don't know if Vegas,
(05:02):
no one really knows what we're gonna find out In Seattle.
This Sunday, Cardinals at Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
They haven't played yet this year, so the Seahawks have
them twice two of the next three weeks. Yeah yeah,
so funky schedule. But your Niners do play Arizona again
the last week of the season.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
So so if I was like looking at that and
you don't have an opportunity to take out Seattle, maybe
I want Arizona to win that game and so then
Seattle just falls back because you can't play them again.
I don't know, just maybe one way to I'm looking.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
At the next three weeks for the Cardinals and I'm
just hoping everyone falls apart.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
They're playing the Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, then they go to Minnesota and then they play
the Seahawks again. So for me, there's a part of
me that's like because then after that the Cardinals play
the Patriots and Panthers. So you can look at those
and say those are wins. But then again, NFL screwy,
I'm looking too ahead.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
The Niners don't win this weekend, why would it matter? Yeah,
they got to, you know, like because that because then
it's kind of like that's who they are.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
It was we went game by game a few weeks ago,
and we came down to the last game with the
Cardinals being the deal breaker and that. But that was Cavino.
That was with our assumption that the Niners would have
beat the Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
That's your assumption. No, that's right.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
You were really quick to say that's what that's a
w for the Niners. Yeah, when we went weak for
week that's what it came down to. It's a damn shame.
And uh, you know when your when your team and
I've said this before. You used to make fun of
me when I talked about little windows, But sometimes your
team does have that little window to deliver with that
core of players, and then it sort of ends and
(06:40):
you might reinvent it a couple of years later. You
saw with the Golden State Warriors, right, they fell back
and then found their way back.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
To the top because they have staff.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
Right, But in all sports, if your core doesn't win
when they're at their peak, it could be that could
be it.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
I learned first hand that the your your window is
a year earlier than you expected it and it ends
a year sooner than you expected. So yep, like with
the Seahawks, the year the Niners played the Ravens, that
actually was their year. We think that the Seahawks arrived
that year, but people had said San Francisco did not
(07:18):
want to face Seattle in that NFC championship game, that
they wanted Atlanta. And then you look back at it
and you say, okay, well, the next year when this
after the Seahwks through the interception, they really weren't a contender.
They were good, but they weren't like a contender, and
that really wasn't their window, that that three year window
that they had where it started was actually the window.
And the way the Niner season has been, I'm almost
kind of getting that sense as well that maybe maybe
(07:40):
it was over and this isn't part.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Of that way. That's that's why, you know, it's so
hard to get back.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
And the thing I hate most in sports, and I
think Derek Jeter, I'll quote him, didn't Derek Jeter say
the thing he hates the most is when someone goes, oh,
you'll get him next year. It's just an odd sentiment like, yeah,
you lost to the Chiefs in overtime. There was your
chance to win the Super Bowl a different team next year.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
You didn't do it.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
And you know, I remember in the beginning of the
season as a cocky Niners fan, which by the way,
is the whole vibe of that team, like go, we'll
turn it around, when I remember thinking, well, this year,
I don't know if they'll get by the Chiefs or
Buffalo or the Ravens.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
But man, the Niners are the elite of the NFC.
They're five and five. They're on the outside looking in,
like Aaron Lewis man, I'm only outside.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Outside looking in the other story that intrigues me too.
Rich Aside from your forty nine ers, when it comes
to windows, I'll just tie it into what you're saying. Windows, right,
Sometimes you have a window to show what you got
a window to just do your thing, get a lead,
get ahead, and whatever it is you do. Someone's out.
(08:55):
This is your time to step up. This whole true
Lock story I think is interesting too, Like, how does
he not get that starting gig when he's played backup
this entire season with the Giants, taking this job knowing
if the Daniel Jones thing doesn't pan out, that he's
the guy and he's not the guy because Tommy Cutletz
does this with his hands. Hey, that has to be
(09:19):
so tough to swallow. I heard Mark Schlereth going off
on that. He said something along the lines like he
wasn't holding back. He's like, this is why the Giants
suck ass, Like he said really like he was. He
was dumping on the organization, like and this is why
the Giants are pathetic, this is why they people don't
aren't gonna want to play the moving forward. Here's a
guy that built his decision in his career behind Daniel
(09:43):
Jones with the hopes to play. He's getting his opportunity
to play, and you're putting in Tommy DeVito just simply
to make the East Coast Tri State area fan base happy.
That's where their priorities are. That's a joke. I mean,
this is the NFL like that's another that's his I
mean there's a part of me that's his windows. There's
a part of me that looks at professional sports and
(10:05):
and I know how difficult it is to get there
on the field, behind the scenes, front office. It's so
hard for me to believe that the decision was simply
Tommy DeVito's popular with like guidos on these coasts. That's
really it, because how do you how do you we
understand why?
Speaker 1 (10:22):
And Dan Byer explained this too.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
We understand that Daniel Jones is now third string because
Dan don't want him in to prevent injury, right, But
how do you explain why the hell Drew Locke isn't starting?
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Then?
Speaker 2 (10:34):
How do you go from third string Tommy DeVito starting
simply because he's a fan favorite because he's Italian.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
That's it.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
That's the dumbest thing ever when you think about it.
But I can't believe that show at this level. This
isn't like, this isn't uh, you know, because he's going
to fill up the bar and he's gonna fill up
Manny and Munakis by the metal lands Like this is
why because of the fan base and by the way,
I'm from Jersey, I have grown up with my fair
(11:04):
share of a bunch of loops. I get the culture.
I understand why it's fun, but it's the NFL. It
doesn't seem.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
Right, Danny.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Honestly, I want to take a step back. I'll pass
it to you or Sam or Dan Bayer because we grew.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Up in that area. Could it can't be right?
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Could it really be that they're giving Tommy DeVito the
start just because of the vibe, Like.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Hey, Tommy Cutler, it's like you gotta find Mark slera
and he kind of went off.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
How insulting to Drew Locke and just the football fan base.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
It's insulting a little bit, But it feels like it
could be right on the money, because remember yesterday, the
conversation was, if you're gonna be a lousy team, at
least make it fun for your fans. Yeah, Like, if
you're lining up for draft position. At least be aggressive
and go for it on every fourth down and give
the fans something to dude.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
We get it as fans, right, and I get it.
People are gonna get excited about it, like, hey, at
least there's something to cheer about and bring our kids
to and oh yeah, oh, but in reality, isn't this
Drew Lock's gig and his time in his window. I'm
just tying to back the little windows. You only got
so many years in the NFL. He's the second string
quarterback all year, so when it's his time to play,
(12:16):
they don't give it to him. That's like in any job,
if you're the next guy, you're the next guy, and
all of a sudden, some other dude takes the gig.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
That's a kick for anybody.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
That would be like if the great Dan Patrick or
Colin retire at some point and we think here we go,
guys Cavino, Rich, Danny g Byerer, Waklin, bark No, and
then all of a sudden they're like, oh, Tommy DeVito's
a new host on Fox Sports Radio. DeVito, Yeah, clown, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
I had done weekends for a while here at Fox
Sports Radio. Then they brought these two waffles in from
New Jersey. And yeah, Drew Locke was in Seattle prior
to this. You know what he left for the Giants
guys number one, more a little bit more money, and
then you give a more money and more of a
chance to possibly start because Daniel Jones was on such
(13:05):
thin ice was a question mark. Yeah, yeah, so that's
why he goes there for that opportunity and started in Denver, right, Yeah,
I'm pretty sure last year when Gino Smith was out,
you know, led the Seahawks to a crazy Monday night
win against the Eagles, but Gino Smith was going to
be the Seahawks quarterback. That means the Giants paid him
a little bit more because they were less certain about
(13:26):
Daniel Jones. So that was part of their plan. Well
we can let's let's annie up for a backup quarterback
in case we need to make the change. And so
then now that change comes about and it's not the
guy that you maybe overpaid for that was also thinking
that he would have a chance to start.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Get it from a fan perspective, but if you put
yourself in Drew locks cleats, that's a tough one to swallow.
Here's Mark Schlareth on why he's disgusted by the Giants.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
You're a bad franchise. You need to attract free agents
to come to your franchise. If I'm a free agent player,
and all things being equal from a money standpoint, I
look at this clown show versus some other team. I'm
not going to the Giants. That's a clown show. That
guy worked all year to be the backup to get
his opportunity. He signed there to have an opportunity because
(14:15):
he knew Daniel Jones was questionable, and at the eleventh
hour you decide no, you're gonna go with.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
A little low there.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
But you get the point, shlaiff. You know that's exactly
what we were feeling. Yeah, and we said that yesterday
when we got the When we got the news, you're like,
and and look, we we love all the fun that
that revolves around Tommy Cuttlet's oh, I get it.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
It's I think it's fun, but it's not right.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Listen again, I'm not saying what we're doing here is uh,
you know, anything special, But that would be like if
you and I were looking at an opportunity and they're like, oh,
I guess who we got hawk to a girl, you know,
just like the side show when the side show is
brought in, right, I mean, yeah, it's just a weird
I think it's the NFL.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
I just thought the NFL. You know what I thought,
Danny g I thought the NFL was slightly above it.
I really did.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Maybe I'm just giving too much integrity to the National
Football League. Less there's another layer then in layer where
But they the update is they asked Drew Locke because
Dan Byer played it before, and he was just like, yep,
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
I don't get beat me. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (15:23):
I think that I think that it is. I don't
think it's an NFL thing. I think for some reason
it's a Giants thing because I think all the fans
see through it. The players apparently see through it. They
aren't happy with the way that it's handled with Daniel Jones,
even though how they're handling Daniel Jones is not different
than we've seen many other times in the National Football League.
But now you do this with Drew Lock, can you
(15:44):
kind of screw him over? Drew Lock's on a one
year deal, so this would have been an opportunity for
him to showcase himself to other teams who could be
looking for quarterbacks or or whatever, but instead you're going
to give it to.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Or even showcase himself to the Giants. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely,
It's a really good point.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
What if a lot of people had a hard time
stomaching Brownie James the same narrative of like, is this
a side show Bron? You know, Lebron's kid gets an opportunity,
you know what, that came and went. It was a
really beautiful father son moment, and then they g leak.
Let's let's focus on getting this kid to see if
he has the goods to get better. That's Lebron, you
(16:25):
were doing the one of the greatest players in the
NBA sort of a solid right the Giants. It's just
sort of like, hey, this team stinks bringing the clowns,
bringing the clowns to entertain the fans. So that's just
something else that stood out to me as a story
sort of process.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
You could also say that in the back of their
minds when you go into full tank mode, why why
give Lucke a chance to shine when you know what
DeVito is and and if you're wanting to get cam
Ward at the very top of that draft, then, I
mean DeVito's your guy.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Yeah, I mean Drew Locke might give you a sled
chance to win, and maybe you're like deep down inside thinking,
we don't really want to win. Tommy DeVito won't win,
but the fans like, yeah, tell me coludes. So it's
like sort of a win win, Like we don't want
to win, but Tommy DeVito gives you like silly vibes
like yeah, but you know what, Rich it's like, you
(17:24):
know what, it's like. It's you're appeasing the fans, but
the other teams and the rest of the NFL and
the NFL fans look at you like you're the joke.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
Yeah. Yeah, it's a Giants issue. Yep, it really is. Well,
so that's our.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Take on that, and we got to get to Midweek
Major next. Yes, spot has all the stories, the hottest ones,
the biggest story and culture, and we do it every Wednesday.
We'll get to your feedback. We'll do it next here
on the show. Now, this is an ad for better help.
What comes to mind when you hear the word gratitude.
Maybe you think about your friends and family and how
(18:03):
happy you are to have them. Maybe it's a tough
moment right now, and it feels a little hard to
be grateful. There is, however, one thing in life. We
don't often show gratitude for ourselves. You like that traumatic
pun I was gonna say, We've all made it. We've
all made it through a lot, a lot, and when
it feels like we don't have much to show for it,
we still have ourselves. So here's a reminder to send
(18:25):
some thanks to the people in our life, including you.
A great way to give yourself some thanks is to
invest in your own well being. If therapy is something

Speaker 6 (19:47):
Hey, hey, guys doing I'm a Cowboys fan. So this
is the worst Thanksgiving to football watch I have in
my life.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Let me tell you it's awful. This dish, you know what.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Let me let me call it up right now. Maybe
some knows it off the top of their head, but
I got it right here that that slate of games
for Thanksgiving is so saddening. Bears, Lions, Giants, Cowboys, Dolphins, Dolphins, Packers,
and then and then Black Friday, Danny G's raider is
gonna get stumped into the ground by mahomes garbage.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Tony, how about this Thanksgiving?
Speaker 2 (20:24):
We have chicken Cutletucky cutlet, Tommy the Beato. Hey, Hey,
Benny brought then a case a thankful for the cutlets.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
By the way, did he actually have a good point
that we would just cut them off? And I think
he did. That was a good point. Nick, I'm sorry.
Back to you. Yeah, what's up?
Speaker 7 (20:53):
This is the best weekend as a Cowboys fan to
be like the drunk uncle at Thanksgiving had the Cowboys
fan where no one can say anything because it's so bad.
Speaker 6 (21:04):
But the Mara family has always been respected, always always
been respected, Kate, Yeah, I know. And now they're doing
this that they take the he was the second string
every week. This all has to do about money, and
now they're putting in Danny DeVito and I think, hey,
(21:27):
I'm playing quarterback.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
It's me Dan tonight quarterback. Thank you. Mike Sandwich. On
the other hand, exactly, all right, thanks for your phone calls.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
We're gonna do midweek Major CB has something to say.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Breaking news from Fox FOD.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
We didn't do it with the Rookie of the Year,
we didn't do it with the Manager of the Year.
But we are doing it with the Cy Young Award.
A lot of Braves pitcher Chris Sale named the National
League war exceiving twenty six out of a possible thirty
first place vote. Zach Wheeler of the Phillies got the
other four first place votes. He finished second Sale eighteen
and three this past year for Atlanta. The crazy thing
(22:11):
was there was a seven season span where he finished
no lower than sixth than Cy Young voting from twenty
twelve to twenty eighteen. But this is the first time
he's actually won the award. Chris Sale of the Braves
your National League, Si Young.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
What a cool story, Dan Viron, because he fell off
and then found his way and a lot of people
didn't think he would find his way back.
Speaker 8 (22:30):
Absolutely wow, I guess I'll cross that off. Midweek major
rash just happened.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
It happened, all right.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Well, you want to get into mid majors, Please give
me some time.
Speaker 9 (22:42):
Covino and Rich get you over the middle of the week.
When mid week major major Oh, I love that we
throw sports and pop culture headlines and topics at the
Fellas and it's like the kids.
Speaker 6 (22:55):
Say, that's summit.
Speaker 9 (22:56):
We definitely major seeing our scoring midweek major.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Yeah, We're gonna give Spotty a whole nine minutes wow
before we hand things over to the one and only
host to the segment. We love to roll those two
big red love dice over there in the main studio.
This is for which host gets to go first. I
just did I got nine bro oh like connect.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
That's an unprecedented moments nine.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
All right, so each connect and Michael Jordan eleven. You
gotta beats, come on, hurry, go fast, damn it. Ten
two minutes on dice.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Alone, all right, And now, ladies and gentlemen, the most
famous person from Scotch Points New Jersey because Judy Bloom
is from there.
Speaker 8 (23:50):
Spotty boy, alright, guys, all right. I hate to keep
bringing it up with the Tyson Jack Paul fight. Looks
like Netflix he getting off too easy so far over
what one hundred million people have streamed the.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Fight, whether live or or after the fact.
Speaker 8 (24:04):
That people wow, Now people still complaining about the live streaming,
the buffering issues that was happening during the fight. Well,
one subscriber, Ronald Denton has filed a clash at class
act class out Jay in Florida against Netflix for the issues,
suing for breach of contract among other things, asking for
unspecified damages. So I imagine this will turn into a
(24:26):
one of those class action lawsuits. And now when you
get those like flyers in the mail, like go up
and sign up for this and you'll get like probably
one month righte four dollars. So anyway, Yeah, people aren't
letting Netflix get off the hook mid Week or majores.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
It's such a mid story. We all suffered through it.
We all survived. You know, no one wanted to see
that fight more than us. And this guy's suing, Give
me a break, What a dork. It's like a like
a major Karen move. It's one of those Sebastian, a
man of scalcoal bits and tattlete tattletale. Hey, we all
were aggravated by it. But this guy sue it doesn't
(25:00):
get me wrong, it's stomped. But this is a weak
ass story week because again, we all went through it.
Why are you gotta be a baby about it when
you get a couple of bucks from Netflix? I hate
people looking for handouts. This person is looking for some
time of cheap ass settlement. Stop it, you nailed it.
Speaker 6 (25:18):
Grow up.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
By the way, I quick aside to this story.
Speaker 8 (25:20):
NFL has reached out to Netflix after all these issues happened,
just reassuring that Christmas Day will be okay, and Netflix's
responded saying, yes, they'll be fine, so you don't have
to worry about buffering during your Christmas Day gabs.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
You know what was aggravating about it though we all
said it and we all knew it was a possibility,
yet they still did it in trouble.
Speaker 9 (25:38):
Shit.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
That's what made it worse because even we were speculating, like, hey,
I hope they're ready, you got Cobra Kai, you got
this fight could crash to site, and sure enough that's
what happened, But there were ways around it. Rich pulled
it up on his phone like it worked out. This
guy is just being.
Speaker 8 (25:53):
Weak, right all right over to Aaron Rodgers, everyone's favorite
cute jets QBA, apparently making a plan for after football.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
So.
Speaker 8 (26:02):
I don't know the validity of this source, but it's
a real story. A source close to Rogers has revealed
that he has no interest in heading into the broadcast
booth after he retires, if and when he retires, but instead.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Setting a site on politics.
Speaker 8 (26:14):
Politics source says he's interested in playing a few more
years with the Jets, but if not the Jets he
wants might go to another team for a Super Bowl win,
but after that might run for president or be someone's
running mates. So it's setting his sights on the political venue.
Midweek or major. No word from Rogers himself. By the way,
see if it's a.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Major story because it's Aaron Rodgers, we spent so much
time talking about the guy. I just think he should
jump right into it like now, because I think his
football days are done.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
Listen, this is not major.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
It's it's mid summit, because the fact that Aaron Rodgers
could be your potential VP one day is mid Do
you want to be People don't like him on the
fe I don't know, man. You gotta be liked to
be voted for something, right. True, he's not the most likable,
but he love to talk about him.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Man.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
I mean, listen, Donald Trump has as you've seen, he's
shown his loyalty. A lot of people that he's appointing
certain roles are people that were loyal to him. So
you know, Ronald Reagan, the actor. Yeah, you never know
who's gonna be in politics, Sunny Bono, Clint Eastwood. I
mean we've seen it before. Clay Aiken ran for a
Congress Come on, you never know.
Speaker 8 (27:23):
That's an odd fact off of californiah Yeah, Arnold too, No, no, no, Sam,
Clay Aikin all right, it happened to earlier. Continuing with
the usual suspects, Tom Brady continuing to test his limits
as a broadcaster slash minority owner in the Raiders, and
his recent interview last month with Patrick Mahomes is actually
(27:44):
raising some flags. He set sat down with mahomeshead of
the Chiefs forty nine Ers Super Bowl rematch, and apparently
triggering more broadcast restrictions on In a meeting Tuesday with
some of the owners, they were planned to be asked
if they're happy with Brady continuing to conduct these interviews
and pressed on whether additional conditions need to be imposed.
Some of these restrictions could include limiting his interaction with
(28:07):
players to live or recorded interviews, prohibiting private one on
one interactions with players, requiring interviews to happen outside of
team facilities or not a team hotels and requiring more
approval and monitoring of these by not only the league
but the teams that are being interviewed. So it's just
making his job more and more difficult. Basically, why is
he doing it midweek or Major?
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Man?
Speaker 2 (28:30):
That's like between mid and major right there. I don't
know if there's I'll go Mid because they're not saying
he can't interview Mahomes or other players in the future,
just saying it has to be monitored. It has to
be people there, at least that's my interpretation of it,
Like it can't be a private one on one because
it's a conflict of interest and we sort of knew
all this. I'm just trying to figure out the rules
(28:51):
as they go. I think this is major, you know what,
It's proving that he's no Steven Sagal, He's not above
the love. Look at it this way. There's two things
you can easily be like, what is you give one
of them up?
Speaker 3 (29:03):
What do you?
Speaker 2 (29:03):
What do you?
Speaker 7 (29:03):
What?
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Is he gonna give up minority stake of a billion
dollar team or give up three hundred and fifty million
dollars in a broadcasting contract.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
This guy's gonna do both. He is not stepping away,
so he will he has to gone. Yeah, he'll go.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Through the annoyance of all the new rules. Why he's
not gonna give anything up?
Speaker 8 (29:20):
All right, comn on. This one's for you, Michael Kay.
I know you love him. His thirty seven year streak
may be coming to an end.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
Uh So.
Speaker 8 (29:27):
Michael Kay has worked reporting or broadcasting the Yankees game
on opening Day, from working to the Post at the Post,
moving into radio, and then with the Yes Network starting
in two thousand and two. Well, the Yankees announced their
twenty twenty five season opener against the Brewers will air
exclusively on ESPN, which takes k out of the local
broadcast booth, meaning that he will not be covering Opening
(29:49):
Day for the Yankees. He's he talked about it on
his radio show, really upset about it, and he said, Hey,
if I can't go to the if I can't cover
the game, I'm going going to it with my son.
But yeah, he he's trying to see if you can
get in as a sideline reporter or something, just to
keep the streak alive.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Midweek or major let's say it's mid it's.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Mid thanks, but it's major for him. I mean the
streak is over thirty seven years. It's mid for everyone
other than Michael Kay. It's mid major for Michael Kay.
Thirty seven years is a long time. But some wise
man once said everything has an expiration date. Who said that,
I forget streets are made to be broken? Who said that,
I don't know I on Fox Sports? Michael Kay works.
(30:31):
I'm pretty sure at ESPN Radio in New York. Yes,
they can't find a way to put him on the broadcast.
That's what he's trying to work out. Come on, This
is a non story. Okay, I'm not blaming you. It
just you know, you know who gus my dad. He
listens to our show in.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
There, all right? Uh uh?
Speaker 8 (30:47):
You remember the tour Story Fun Day Game, Remember that
where they recreated the NFL game. Well there, Disney's bringing
that animated magic to the NBA for the Christmas Day
game of the Knicks versus Spurs. Announced they'll be doing
a simulcast on Disney plus ESPN two called Dunk the
Halls where all the Disney characters will be watching the
game on Main Street USA at Disney World, including Mickey,
(31:09):
Minnie and all the fun people. So that'll be taking
place also, Oh, Daisy Duck will be a sideline reporter.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
I know you're excited about that.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
Quick.
Speaker 8 (31:16):
There's also a plan. I don't know if you knew
about this. The Cowboys versus Bengals game on December ninth
will be taking place in the Simpsons universe, So they're
going to be doing a Simpson style simulcast for that
midnik the major.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
I think it's major.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Anything that garners the attention of the kiddies, gets them
involved in sports, makes it fun for kids.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
I think you need more of that. It's fun for
the family.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
In fact, I remember that toy story thing when it happened,
and all the feedback of Guy and how many of
our friends were like, Yo, this is great. They did
such a great job with that Nickelodeon And then they've
done these sayings. Listen, you know I have many meetings
with high powered executives.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
I don't know if you know this. You know there's
a there's a narrative going on.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
There's a narrative going on in the sports world that
young kids play sports.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
They don't watch them way we do.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
So if they're finding new ways to get youngster's eyes
on that screen, they're going to do it. Whether it's Disney,
Universal Property, SpongeBob, you name it, they're going to do it.
It's a brilliant idea because young kids they don't watch
things the way we do, so this is brilliant. I major,
I appreciate it. Thank you, Spotty Boy. Anytime as we
go to Dan Bayer for an update, Dan Byer, please
(32:23):
tell me brock Perty's feeling great.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
Stories limited in practice today day to day was a
Kyle Shanahan said later earlier this week, but George kill
says he will play on Sunday against the green Bay Packers,
not dealing dealing with a hamstring injury, but it's not
enough to make him not play against green Bay.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
According to Kittle, when Kittle isn't in that forty nine
ers lineup Dan Bayer, the run game suffers because he'll
team up with Trent Williams. I was talking to a
new Brandon about this. Him and Trent Williams could open
a hole on that line like no one else. Honestly,
Kittle is so influential in that run game.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
They'll need him against green Bay. With the Marquee game
in the late window coming up on Sunday, Tomorrow. Week
twelve starts in the NFL. Steelers in Brown's Brown should
have Miles Garrett along with Titan David Nijoku. The wide
receiver Elijah Moore expected to play Jordan Schultze. Fox Sports
reports Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans is expected to face
the Giants on Sunday, returning from a hamstring injury that
(33:20):
has cost him the last month.
Speaker 5 (33:22):
Well.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
Despite the recent struggles of kicker Justin Tucker, Ravens head
coach John Harbass says they're sticking with the Vet and
have no plans on replacing him. Isaiah Pacheco a limited
practice today as the Chiefs running back looks to come
back from a broken leg. It was breaking news a
little while ago, so it's still breaking now. Chris Sale
the National League Sanyog Award winner, receiving twenty six out
(33:43):
of a possible thirty first place votes. The Philly Zach
Wheeler finished second, Pirates rookie Paul Skeens in third. The
America League Sigh Young Award winner will be announced at
some point in the next ten minutes or so.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
It's expected to be.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
Tiger's pitcher Turk Scooble However, we will wait for the
official announcement from the Baseball Writers Association of America. Seth
Lugo and Emmanuel Classe the other two finalists for the
Ale honor. Finally, guys in hoops, Tereus Garland and Garris
Lavert questionable or excuse me, both out tonight for the
Cavs against the New Orleans Pelicans. And Cleveland has submitted
(34:20):
a bit for an expansion team in the WNBA. They
had the Cleveland Rockers years back, they went away. Now
they want a new team.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Back to you, guys, thank you, Dan Bayer. All right,
Yeah you tht Ebum that the al Cy Young?
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Was it?
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Nasty?
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Nestor Cortes, your favorite Yankee man, I remember when he
had a World Series Huh when.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
He came in the league.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
I remember you thinking this guy, And you know what
happens a lot sometimes guys just get figured it out
a little bit. Remember he was lights out.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
I mean he was heard.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
He was heard anyway, Thank you, Dan Bayer. Is Cavino
and Rich and we got more c in our next.
There's only one feeling in sports, rich better than anything.
It's that electric buzz of game day all around you.
And when you're looking for that scene vibe. Yeah, have
to check out graduate hotels. Hey, what are you guys
doing Friday? Hanging out with you?
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Let's do on Friday.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
We going a graduate hotel in Alabama. Our Auburn broadcast
is happening, like they say, state graduate hotels like stepping
on the field in those college towns. We'll be there
from four to six Central Time, right before the Aggies
Tigers game on Saturday. So Friday four to six broadcasting live.
Come hang with the show. It's gonna be a lot
of fun. Auburn Graduate Hotel. Yeah, looking forward to it.
(35:28):
We're gonna hang out broadcast live, have a few drinks.
Danny G's gonna be there. Graduate's all about bringing that
charm and legacy you love about your alma mater into

(35:49):
Graduate by Hilton dot com. Graduate Hotels, Because at Graduate
we're all students see you there? Yeah, alright, is that
Monsi Bolanos in the building?
Speaker 1 (36:07):
It is.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Oh, anyway, thanks for hanging out with us the Fox
Sports Radio family. Yeah, Danny g Iowa, Sam DG, Spotty Boy, Hi,
Covino and Rich getting down the business on Fox Sports Radio.
Everything at Covino and Rich and speaking of business, getting
(36:30):
down the business on Friday at Graduate Hotels. I have
a double question for you. You can just say a question. Yeah,
you have a question. Yeah, good. Oh that's a good play. Yeah,
that's redundant. By the way, I'm talking of Brandon who
works here. He's a big Niners fan. Next question, you
don't even have to tell us that because every time
you took the brand, you're talking about the forty nine ers, right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
Miner buddies buds, Niner buds.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
You would have robbed g or Raiders baddies. You have
other Raiders buddies around here. We are Niners buddies at
the Packers. Should you be optimistic, like y'all they'll get
it together. It's the forty nine ers or is this
a wasted season? This is such a big game in
that late window.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
No, I might. I don't want to overstate it, but
Niners lose. It's it's not looking good man. They don't
have that that oomph that they had.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
They don't have that explosiveness, they don't have that fire yet.
Off Kittle is such a big part of their run
game because he's it's not pretty, he's the best blocking
tight end. So maybe Kittle comes back and McCaffrey goes
off and he's got Kittle and Trent on the left
side blocking.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
Who knows, But that's a big one.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
You know, the difference between try and triumph Ritch little lumph. Yeah, yeah,
Kittle's got to bring that. Well, I'm mart about that.
They're missing that. They're missing that explosiveness, that that that
fire that they had. And you know what, you said
it the other day, they're relying to much on their
swag instead of just just bringing the boom.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
But again, I don't want to be that sending me.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
They're they're they're two full of that, like we're the
forty nine ers and everyone's thinking like, yeah, when are
they gonna turn it around? They're the forty nine ers.
You still got to bring the boom, dude. You just
can't rely on reputation alone.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Bring the boom like the Costco guys we bring up.
I mean, obviously that's what they do.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
So my point is, if this week they don't win,
I might, uh, I might wave the white flag as
a forty nine er tround like this is just not
the year, Like you just lost their mojo. Yeah, the
mojo is lost. Something's gone, and I a great top
rock party. He's playing pretty well this definitely for the
most part. I mean, he'd be the first place you
look and it's not him. It's just uh, lack of playmaking,
(38:46):
a lack of big moments. I know I never would
to be the second guest guy. But they're five and five,
three games, and I know every team could say, well,
if we woon this one. They've lost three division games
with less in two minutes in the fourth quarter, so
I mean that just shows that they couldn't stop a
(39:06):
final drive by the other team three times, or else
you'ld be eight and two and that would be the
team everyone thought the Niners would be, so mag you
know what, the game of inches my dumb question, A.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
Game against the Packers like that could be a turnaround game.
So that was my not I guess that was my
dumb question too.
Speaker 8 (39:23):
Packers can be picked off, by the way, if any
team can do it, it's the Niners going to Lambo.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
They're not especially under Kyle Shannon. They're not afraid to.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
Go in there and win.
Speaker 5 (39:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
I agree, they've done well against the Packers. Then you
got the bills after that, Well, you gotta win one
of those two.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
Right. Here's my other question. I'm bringing my son to
get a haircut in about an hour.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
Guy's got a quaff.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
Do I give my son a haircut that I would get?
Speaker 1 (39:48):
Or do I be like lean into like he's a
little boy. Little kids have floppy heads.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
Oh, get him a perm All the teenagers just sit
them down, you say, give them them a homes Yeah,
give them the broccoli head.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
You don't give him a little business cut. He's he's
not a forty year old guy like me. Something that
Should I get my kid a fade in the calm
over type of thing? Or do I do I say, hey,
give him a little boy haircut?
Speaker 1 (40:13):
Will come on my head? Come on, man, I don't
think there's the wrong answer. He's little. He's little, so
what he's four?
Speaker 3 (40:22):
So I think it's kind of cute when you don't
do the little kid haircut on.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
A little one, you know what. Okay, Yeah, I just
give the cut. That's kind of cute gold cut. No,
it's just one of those things.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
It's like, you know when you went to the barbershop
with your dad or grandpa a lot of times he
was just get you the haircut he has, right, don't
point to the wall.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
Give him, give him individuality, give him a couple of
lines in his left eyebrow and the sides of his.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
Lines, and give him the free and drill sergeant. There
you go.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
You want that kid coming out looking like he's Dominican dude, Yeah,
like all trimmed up. Oh yeah, you gotta like, yeah,
he's gotta out his forehead, a chain that Ben can wear. Yeah,
you gotta give him a cool fade, nice and tight.
Make him look cool.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Yeah, make him look cool. That's what I think. Yeah,
oh you got it. How old is he again? He's four? Right,
I mean he's four.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
I'm just saying that little boy to the side thing
like he's growing out of that.
Speaker 8 (41:16):
He's in school now. Given the opposite of what you
would do, Yeah, it's cool. Oh you're the coolest. You
got the greatest hair spot. Look look at that.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
I got a burst faide. Look in the a burst fade.
That's what you call that? What's long? I thought that
was called I don't cult my hair and don't care
my hair goes quick. Wow, you don't even know what
a burst fad is. Awesome, you got the worst fade.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
I would take a picture of your hair, but I
don't want people roasting in full worst fad. That's a
good one though. Agreement there you baby, see you in
the promise barbershops.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Durst fade
