Yeah, Judges is playing video games.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
And we just discovered Jaylab headphones, and we know Colin

I'm super pumped about that trying out. Yeah. Oh, Danny
G got that microphone too. Yeah, they got good stuff
at Jaylab. I'm Steve Cavino speaking of good stuff. Thats Rich, Davis, Mike,
he's all right, Danny G super producing, He's got that smooth,

(01:41):
buttery voice. He's on the phones at eight seven seven
four eight four three four three seven. It's eight seven
seven for the Herd and Tooey and music and Ryan Spotty.
By by the way, he's getting ready for midweek major
this hour, Rich, the biggest stories in sports and pop culture?

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Are they mid week or major? Hang around play along?

Speaker 3 (02:01):
But before we continue with bobbleheads, because we got some stats,
like Dwayne's stats, we got some stats about these bobbleheads.
There is a big announcement in the NFL. Yeah, it
was sort of expected. Yeah, so this is not like
but it's official. You know in CNN or Fox News
says breaking news, and it's.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Like, is it really breaking news if you knew it?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Not really, But the Pittsburgh Steelers have made it official
that Russell Wilson will be starting game one week one
for the Pittsburgh Steelers. So I figured that a lot
of pressure because if he slips even just a little bit,
you know what's gonna happen. Yeah, how how much leeway,
how long? How far releashed does Mike Tomlin have on

(02:41):
his quarterback situation? Just stick what you're starting quarterback? Because
it just makes you look like a wavering coach. But
is it a like this is a three week commitment bit?
And then we reassessed is it week to week when
you name someone a starter and a quarterback battle? If
you watch the Joe Montana docu series, which is fantastic,
I believe it was on Peacock, I think so, yeah,

(03:01):
cool under pressure, you forget that. Bill Walsh was like
week to week on his feelings about Steve Young and
Joe Montana, but to the point where if, like does
someone rub them the wrong way? He's like, Yeah, we're
gonna go with Steve Young, We're gonna go with Montana. Yeah,
we're gonna go with Young. And you know those are
two Hall of famers. Russell Wilson was on the way

(03:26):
slipped up and Justin Fields was supposed to be the
guy and it didn't work out in Chicago. So I
don't think it's very Montana young like, but I do
wonder if Russ has a bad week or two.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
You got to give him some grace.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
If he has a bad week or two, you know,
he did have a pretty decent season. Click on the
Steelers real quick. On the Steelers, Yeah, click on the Steelers.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
There?

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Where do you want me to go? Right there? Okay?

Speaker 3 (03:50):
I want to see there. I want to see their
first three or right there? Gotcha, I want to see
their first couple of weeks at the Falcons, Kirk Cousins,
good offense. I'm giving them an l I don't, I don't.
I don't want to be the guy looking too much
saying you gotta give me some great at Broncos his
old team, revenge game for Russ, where he's like, yeah,

(04:12):
f those guys, Yeah, play plays a big game there
one one one one Chargers they're they're they have their
home opener at Hinesfield. Chargers again an unknown team we
don't know. So it's I think if Russ, then the
Colts becausure Anthony richardson what the hell doing?

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Then Cowboys? All right?

Speaker 3 (04:34):
So we're looking at it a possible six and six
if you give or take right, if if you, if you,
which by the way, is the definition of the Steelers, right,
a five hundred team in your mind? What would Russ
need to do to keep the job. Is it five
hundred or does Russ need to play over five hundred?
Tomlin's known for playing over five hundred, so I think
he has to continue. But I'm saying, like music, what

(04:56):
do you think if they are three and three, two
and two, but they're just you know again, they lose
to the Falcons, but then they beat the Broncos, then
they win their home opener and gets to Charger, but
then lose to the Colts. If Russ is playing five
hundred football, is that not enough? And like absolutely enough?

Speaker 6 (05:13):
It's enough, oh for sure, because that's really where the
Steelers have gotten to at this point, which is staying
relatively competitive, like they're the standard that they're supposed to
be winning like twelve and thirteen games every year has
been gone since like yeah, like big Ben Le'Veon bell
Antonio Brown, like that was when they were still serious

(05:35):
playoff contenders. They've almost been applauded.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
By taking mediocre teams and still finding way to be
nine eight exactly.

Speaker 6 (05:44):
And they've always been known as like a patient organization.
So like if Russ is just keeping them competitive enough
to where you look at it and you're like, oh,
they're in the wild card hunt.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
They're not pulling the plug off.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Yeah, it's big dreaming to expect anything other as the
kiddies would say no, because that's why they hire you,
because that's what they expect. So if they give them,
if he gives them what they at least expect, then
his success you know. I saw that recently. They were
talking about Marcus Stroman on the Yankees. They're like, he's
having a really great season, meaning he's doing exactly what

(06:19):
they expected him to do. You know, eat up innings,
that's what they expected. They'd expect them to be a
cy young caliber pitcher out of nowhere all of a
sudden for the Yankees. They expect them to do that.
That's successful. They're not expecting. I don't think Russell Wilson
to be leading this team to a to a ridiculous
winning record. I think five hundred, just above five hundred.

(06:40):
Like you said, yeah, Ryan is right where he's gonna
be at I think it has to expect. You gotta
be realistic a little bit exactly, and like to your
to the other side of that is he would have
to wildly underperform expect like we're talking, like you said,
the six game mark, they got to be like one
in five and the offensive scoring like twelve points then
because they're like this is so bad, we can't even

(07:03):
deny it. And by the way, Marcus Strowman is the definition.
I know we're going back to baseball, but the definition
of a solid middle of the rotation, eight innings guy.
He's nine to six with a three eight eight R
And if you look at all of his previous seasons,
that's exactly what they expected to get from him. So
that's he's giving you exactly what you expected. What more

(07:23):
could you ask for? That's who you hired. So if
you went through Steller's my point, So thank you for
taking the bait on that. Let's say, let's expecting from
Russell Wilson. That's my point. If he gives you what
you expect, then then that's on you. Then good, he
did a good job. Wilson needs to take care of
the football. He doesn't turn over the ball. The way Justin.

Speaker 7 (07:45):
Justin Fields does exactly and that's the probably the biggest difference.
We know Fields flashes with some glamorous video game type plays,
but he does turn the ball over a lot. So
if Wilson turn starts turning over the ball, then I
think Tom Lolin will be let me go with the upside.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
One hundred percent. And to your expectations.

Speaker 6 (08:03):
Point is, like, the expectations were completely different in Denver,
and that was the problem was he was the guy
who they traded all these us for, they gave the
huge contract to, and the expectations were, Dude, you are
the man. You got to be an MVP type candidate.
You got to lead our offense. And then especially when

(08:24):
Sean Payton came in, and Sean Payton's like, hey, I
coached Drew Brees. I this is how we're going to
design the offense to your strengths. We need you leading
the way. That's clearly not the case anymore anywhere. I mean,
I mean Colin one of the most thought out guys
of the game. We're failing from who doesn't have to herd.
Colin took the bait for oh all they needed as

(08:45):
a quarterback in Denver and it's Russ. It just didn't
work out.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
You're right.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
The expectation was through the roof. That was the Denver's
defense is elite at the time, and a lot has
changed since then. Sure, but I want to take a
look real quick again at that schedule and it really
reeks of five hundred.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
And you're right.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
People are unrealistic in certain areas of life, relationships, work,
real estate.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
It's a big one.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
How many times do you see someone We're looking for
our dream home, here's our budget, and you're like, what
do you want the real to to do? Make houses
appear out of nowhere? Like like, we're looking for a
house that's newly furnished for less than this.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
Good luck.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
You're not gonna go to Pittsburgh and be like, we
got an aging quarterback who's not what he was, with
decent personnel and a good coach, bring us to Super Bowl. No,
you're getting a house that needs a little rehab. You're
needing a house that needs a new kitchen. Atlanta at Atlanta,
we're giving them an l Right, We're gonna give Kirk
Cousins a win at home and his home opener. The
Broncos revenge revenge game BONEX. So we'll give them a W. Chargers,

(09:48):
I'll be nice and say it's their home opener in Pittsburgh.
We'll give them a W. We'll be nice. We'll split
them right because the next week they're at Indian. We're saying,
all right, Indie will win. That's two and two Cowboys
and Raiders in the next two games. We'll give him
a W and an L. So now we're three and three,
Jets and Giants.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
A W in an L. Now you're at four and
four and guess what.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
In Ryan's right, Music's right, You're not making a drastic
move on your starting quarterback if you're four and four
at that point, Bro, could I keep going? Because it's
as comical Commanders in Ravens W L five And now
you're five and five. Here's where it gets a little dicey. Cleveland, Cincinnati, Cleveland, unbelievable.

(10:38):
Oh you might steal one of those. And now I'm
looking now I feel like you're looking at six and seven.
And then you play the Eagles and raven the end
of the season, and the Chiefs when the Bengals, All right,
this team looks like they could possibly play five hundred
football into the last month or so month five games
of the year, and then it could fall apart and
then you might see justin Field salvage this.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
That's the drama to look forward to.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
Russell Wilson finished, by the way, I can I give
you that Sill starting quarterback for the Steelers.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
Holy crap.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
If you're a Steelers fan and you're like, well, if
we stay five hundred, listen to their last three games.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
This is brutal.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
The last three games where they're gonna be fighting for
a playoff spot. Tomlin never under five hundred the last
three games Ravens, Chiefs, Bengals, and they played the Bengals
twice too towards the end of the season. Yeah, that's tough.
But the last three weeks in particular Baltimore, Kansas City, Cincinnati,
that is absurd that we talked about it before. Those

(11:42):
are your three best AFC teams that are predicted to
go to the Super Bowl, and the Steelers have to
finish against those in December. As as they said in
a movie taken, good luck, good luck. But also again
it's a lesson of lesson of expectations. How many women

(12:03):
marry a schlub, and then they expect some dude to
be a mister universe. Here's a slub when you met him,
How could you have all these expectations for the guy?
He's an average fellow, you know, That's really what it
comes down to. What are the expectations for Russell Wilson?
They're not what they used to be. If he delivers
a little over five hundred, that's all you expect and
he's doing his job, they're not going to make a move.

Speaker 8 (12:24):
If you can offer a counterpoint here, fellow, Okay, you
were just talking about last year, the expectations in Denver. Yeah,
when he got bench last year in Denver, what do
you think their record was?

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Good? Point?

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Uh, it wasn't as awful as you think, right, but
maybe what seven and eight?

Speaker 4 (12:38):
Okay?

Speaker 8 (12:39):
Teetering close to five hundred. The problem with this is
with Russ they could be five hundred. But what if
he looks awful and their defense is carrying them. You know,
the fans in Pittsburgh gonna go crazy. You gotta get bencham,
you gotta bench him.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
He there were times when the Broncos were like a
three and out machine. You don't think you can watch
all like three out three. Now You're like, what they
can't They're not removing the ball, dude, you're gonna hit. Look,
Russell Wilson comes with that stigma anyway where people are
gonna want to be quick to hate on him because
of his personality unlimited. I think he's gonna get that regardless.

(13:13):
I really do you know That's that's the tough part
of dealing with a guy like this.

Speaker 7 (13:18):
One last question, because what I hear from all of
you is that it's pretty much gonna be the same team,
and as far as the quarterback position goes, it was
almost like a lateral move. So why did they trade
Kenny Pickett to the Eagles? Are you saying Russell Wilson
is that much better than Pickett?

Speaker 5 (13:36):
I think he.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
I don't hear that from any of.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Them, maybe just based on what he's done, but maybe
currently I don't.

Speaker 6 (13:44):
I think they knew that Kenny Pickett wasn't gonna be
the first round franchise jan town.

Speaker 7 (13:50):
Guy though, And did they really get on ended up
working against them like they had to be, like, we
can't keep dragging this out and letting people hope that
the hometown kid's gonna see us and take us to
where we want to go because we're not seeing it,
so we as well cut bait.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Kenny Pickett wasn't winning a Super Bowl for the for
the Steelers. I think that was a general sense you're.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
Saying Russell Wilson isn't either. No, I don't think he is.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
But I think that they're like, there's like a more
of an odd hope, like what what if Russ has
something like you know, seen us do it. It may
have been almost a decade again now, but you've at
least seen him do it. Whereas Kenny Pickett, I think
they were like, oh boy, the Pittsburgh kid ain't ain't
taking us to the Promised Land. And Cavino's right, there's
a lot if Rush struggles. People love to pick on Russ.

(14:38):
Have you ever had the danger Witch at subway? No,
I've never had, But you know what, we could tire one.
He's still around. Uh, that's the update, guys. Russell Wilson
the starter, but we started knew by the way, that
was at the beginning of the end.

Speaker 4 (14:52):
I'm looking back.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
It was a couple of years ago when Russ had
his danger Witch sandwich Pepperoni Salami, ham and Provolone at
Subway and he did those cringey commercials.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
Rus Yeah after that.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Honestly, since then, nothing downhill the curse well Sandwich, nobody's
rooting against him, you know, you know, we're not that
kind of show.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
I hope he does. Well, we'll see what happened, man.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
All right, So just to wrap up our previous conversation though,
because that was breaking news, Bobblehead Day is today. It's
like a holiday here in Los Angeles, and you guys
get the deal. Look, oh Tani, by the way, he's
slaying it, so I understand the hype. He could be
the first ever fifty to fifty guy to do it.
He's having a season fifty to fifty. God, like a

(15:38):
month left. He's got what forty one home runs? Danny
g Andy's a picture, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
Danny, I was.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
I was talking to some of the dads at my
kid's open house at the school last night, you know,
just small talking. And by the way, we had that
conversation yesterday. If a dad can't small talk about sports,
I want to jump out a window.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
So what kind of dad is? What kind of dad is?

Speaker 3 (15:58):
So we're I was talking about a dad, I was
talking about how because Otani has been so dominant and
him and Judge are who o ta, I'm sorry and follow.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
Sorry I don't follow golf. Oh jeez. So if.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
We're so hung up on Otani and Judge, you know,
Mookie Betts is not far behind. But there's elite players
in Major League Baseball trouts hurt. Otani's doing something so
spectacular that we almost do forget.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Oh yeah, he's a pitcher.

Speaker 3 (16:28):
What he's doing now add a potential cy young side
of him that we've haven't even got yet. The Dodgers,
you're getting their money the offense your Mets are trying
to make a push that Lin Door could arguably be
a better MVP choice because he at least is playing
a position.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
Otani's, you know, more of a d H.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
At this point, they're actually saying that he is second
in line this season. Yeah, no, is so clearly the MVP,
of course, But that's that conversation of most valuable player
versus best player, right, Honey's by far the best player
if you want to actually talk about MVP. If he
took it so literally, Lindor might be more valuable to

(17:08):
the Mets because the Dodgers are static, so much challenge, right.
I just think it's never been more obvious than Judge
no time. Oh, I agree. I am not the dufist
making an argument on my on behalf of my met
But if you really talk about value what Lindor means
to the Mets, the Mets come and go as Lindor
is hotter. I'm not hating on Lindor either. In fact,

(17:29):
I'm just sharing the story, and I think go Tani.
While he is the best player in the game, the
Dodgers is so good that they'd be a playoff team
even if he wasn't there. So Mets are like, the
Mets are clinging to playoff hopes because of Lindor. He
could be fifty to fifty. Everybody in LA's going bonkers
about the bomblehead. I think it's like the first eighteen

(17:49):
thousand get it. Dodger Stadium holds fifty six thousand people,
who what's with the obsession? Danny g has some stats, though,
break it down for us so we could wrap it
up all.

Speaker 7 (17:58):
Right now, this status from late twenty eighteen, so you
have to add in inflation here, okay. According to a
sales representative, at Associated Premium Corporation, which is a preferred
vendor of MLV promotional items. A seven inch bobblehead purchased
in bulk exceeding ten thousand units costs a ball club
between three and five dollars each. So let's say five

(18:21):
dollars because we're in twenty twenty two. Now, okay, so
that's two hundred and eighty thousand dollars to give everybody one.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
That's an ad buy that. It seems reasonable for a
big company.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
If you want to spy Bank or whoever's sponsoring these
bibble heads, it's like, hey, sponsored by you know, Capital One,
You're tell me they can't ford a couple hundred thousand
dollars and if you make that bulk fifty thousand bibble heads,
give me a break. I think it's like cheapskatee behavior.
It really is supply and demand. We get that, But
you got fans paying crazy amounts of money, like we

(18:50):
already said, for concessions and tickets and everything else. And
then you want to have a good time, that's the thing.
And the kids that don't get one, you feel like
a failure.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
Of a parent. If you're on you brought your kid
there and they don't have one.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
I'll never understand it, and I'll never understand the adults
obsessing over this nonsense.

Speaker 4 (19:08):
I just don't. I'll say this respectfully, get.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
A life, honestly, and you care that much about it,
But at least it was respectfully. Yeah, because I'll tell you,
I'll be honest. If someone gave me one, I'm very
thankful I have said. Eric said this last week to
Rich I have a few at home. I don't obsess
over him. They sit up on my shelf, like with
all my hats. You know what, Hey whatever, he prays

(19:33):
to the Aaron Judge one. Yeah, like whatever, But they
have to obsess over these things.

Speaker 4 (19:37):
Ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
I'll do my Coveno impression with all the respect respectfully.
You're a bunch of loses, don't you preface it that way.
It's okay, it's okay. Let me give you one last analogy.
Like I said, when we feel in for Colin, you
got to break out the analogies. Stars attract other stars.
I if I'm going to a stadium and I know
that if I'm not one of the first to twenty

(20:00):
thousand people there, my kid's not going to get the uh,
you know, my daughter's not gonna get the Hello Kitty
Dodgers thing. I have that stomach ache, like that anxious
anxiety feeling like like, oh we got.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
Those gotta get that. They're called nervous farts.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Yeah, I have that nervous belly feeling. I used to
have that same feeling when you used to go to
a movie theater and there wasn't as signed seating when
they started doing assigned seating, Like I go take my
kids to go see the Minions movie or go see
the New Aliens movie.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
When you know that.

Speaker 5 (20:30):
I'll show up.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
Oh yeah, I'm rowe g seat seven. There's no rush.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
I have alleviated stress. Stadiums teams alleviate that stress for
all the moms in downtown safety issue. Remember Dominoes had
that policy way back on Wednesday, like thirty minutes or less.
Remember ever, our buddy Mike who runs this place used
to work at Dominoes. Dude, people were killing people just

(20:55):
to deliver that pie on time because everyone had those
expectations of getting it thirty minutes a lesser.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
Three. Yeah. I have some breaking Dodger news.

Speaker 7 (21:04):
I think the Dodgers organization heard you guys on the
afternoon show. They have announced that they are upping it
to forty thousand bobbleheads for the second go around.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
So, hey, we're getting there.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
You're welcome, but yeah, you're welcome, Dodgers fans.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
My point was setting and goes on over.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Rich was saying, you're forcing all these people to rush
their traffic, fights, nervous farts, accidents. You know, there's a
tussle in the in the in the stands because someone
didn't get one. It's a fender bender because you're nervous.
Your daughter's not going to get hurt. A little toy
at least. Now they're given some out forty thousand.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
There you go. It's a big Now you're gonna hear
about it later.

Speaker 7 (21:44):
So if you look at Bobblehead, if you are a
southern California resident and you leave your job by two pm,
you might be one of the first.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
You might be one thing exactly. Thank you, Danny A right,
we got the headline news coming up. We got spots
midweek major So hang tight more Kevin and rich In

If you're from Alabama, don't you want to show a
Jersey guy like Cavino around?

Speaker 4 (23:19):
Yeah, I would love that. It's gonna be a lot
of fun.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
Again, We've been to Eugene, Nashville, Tempe, Arizona, every city
we've done these in. We've had a great time with
listeners and friends. So let's do it, all right, you
want to do this? How about herd Line News?

Speaker 4 (23:35):
No, no, no.

Speaker 9 (23:37):
This is the herd Line News.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
All right.

Speaker 6 (23:42):
Shout out Greg Tooey. This is what he's been waiting for.
I got this at like six am from him. He's
been waiting all day. We're finally going to deliver.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
CJ. Stroud, Oh Houston, Texans. That's all right.

Speaker 6 (23:54):
First onto the scene last year winning the AFC South,
Stroud quickly be anointed as one of the next great
qbs in this league. After his stellar rookie season, well,
he had an interview with the boardroom and was asked
to describe what Tom Brady was like.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
Here's what he said.

Speaker 10 (24:13):
He's the blueprint who you would model your game after.

Speaker 8 (24:16):
You got to be yourself in the same way.

Speaker 10 (24:18):
So he'll tell you that he wanted to, you know,
be a great teammate, and that's something that I want
to be as well.

Speaker 6 (24:24):
It's so funny when we talk about Brady and reflect
on it from our armchair quarterback analysis position, is that
is true.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
Tom Brady is the blueprint.

Speaker 6 (24:33):
Like for the most part, if you were to boil
it down, obviously there's a ton of intangibles and great
physical attributes that made Brady what's Brady? But it was
do anything you can to put the team first, sacrifice
in your own personal life to do put football first.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
Become progressively more handsome as the years go on.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
Absolutely, you know, take less money, like there is a
actual blueprint there, and it doesn't feel like there's that
many quarterbacks that actually end up following that blueprint. Well,
they chase the bag, they want the money, they want
to theyarely blame him for that, but I mean it's like,
you do have it there, and most guys are.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
Like, yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
Now a great example of what you speak of. I'm
by no means saying that this guy is that level.
But brock Perty could very well take a ton less
next year. That way, the Niners could keep their pieces
and they would compete for the next five plus years.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
Right, what cheers, here's a job and maybe a chairmanship,
but that would be great.

Speaker 3 (25:35):
The sentiment is that if rock Perty has another good season,
he's gonna be right up there with the guys making
fifty plus million dollars absolute percent. But Tom Brady's blueprint
would say take forty something.

Speaker 4 (25:45):
Sure.

Speaker 6 (25:46):
Sure, And I wonder also, like how many guys, like
we know these quarterbacks are all like taking care of
their bodies, right, but like, how many of those guys
are like, you know what, I'm buying that TV twelve
method book and right doing the exact same thing.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
I feel like I saw CJ.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Stroud his way into his diet more than ever, like
spent a ton of money in the offseason Jets. So
maybe he's no, But that's why when you see someone
following the blueprint, you gotta respect it. And Aaron Judge, Look,
the dude is creating his own path clearly, right, But
I often say he's following that Jeter blueprint. He's just
doing it on a bigger mammoth sort of level. He's not,

(26:23):
but he was, he would be. He would be sleeping
with all the hottest women in Hollywood if he was
following he was saying the way he handles the press,
the way he carries himself and rich always you know,
you make fun of it. I'm like, well, dude, the
guy did it perfect in New York for all those years.
It's laid out for you right there. What I also
took away from the CJ. Stroud story too, was that's
how you respectfully talk about your your your legends, I guess.

(26:47):
And that's why Anthony Edwards got so much, so much
slack about saying that the previous generations this didn't have
the skill level. Imagine if he said, like, yeah, Tom
Brady's great and all, but he didn't have this, He
didn't have the skills that we have today. Right, but
it doesn't rub people the wrong way. Sure, the right way,
I should say.

Speaker 6 (27:04):
Yeah, Anthony Edwards still taking tons and tons of heat
for those comments, all right. The Dolphins have placed Odell
Beckham Junior on the pup list physically unable to perform less,
meaning well, he's gonna miss at least the first four
games of the season while he deals with an undisclosed injury. Now,
the Dolphins reportedly were aware of this as a legitimate

(27:28):
possibility for OBJ when they signed him.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
Back in March.

Speaker 6 (27:32):
And it's interesting, like when you really think about Odell
and you sort of touched on this rich about like
players the way we think about them and the brand
of the player versus what there actually are at this point,
Like I think a lot of people are like, oh Obj,
But like when we talk about the last time he
was even remotely actually productive was the playoff run and

(27:54):
the Super Bowl for the Rams. Missed an entire season
after that, and then also wasn't even productive for the
Ravens last year.

Speaker 5 (28:03):
I can't.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
I was while you were just speaking, I was trying
to think of, you know, well music was going over that.
To think of another player in any sport who's riding
off of I. I I continue to believe that he
rides off of that amazing catch. His athleticism was like,
oh my god, Odell Beckham Junior, greatest catch of all time.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
He was playing in a big market New York.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
And then it's if he never made that catch, it
might he might blend in with like a ha, say,
like a Robbie Chosen Anderson who's trying to make a team.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
Not to take away from his.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
But Buster Douglas, you would never know the name, but
you would never know the name Buster Douglas if he
didn't beat Mike Tyson.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
I got one. I was surprised when I when I
heard that news.

Speaker 6 (28:49):
Davian Clowney in college, that massive hit in the ball game,
and ever since then it was like this guy number
one overall pick, but outside it's been productive, but you
wouldn't know them as like a household name, number one
overall pick without that.

Speaker 4 (29:04):
Huge play for sure. All right, thank you, Ryan.

Speaker 9 (29:08):
Well that's the.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
News, and thanks for stopping by the.

Speaker 9 (29:11):
Herd Line News.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
Well that's the herd Line News. But what do we
do every Wednesday? D energy, It's time for Midweek Major.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Let's go with the Covino and Rich get you over
the middle of the week mid.

Speaker 9 (29:24):
Week Major Major.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
I love that we.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Throw sports and pop culture headlines and topics at the
fellas and it's like the kids.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Say, that's so we definitely major.

Speaker 9 (29:36):
See in our score Midweek Major a.

Speaker 7 (29:43):
Remix because we got to give spot at least a
couple of minutes here and when you hear these horns hit.
By the way, we do this every Wednesday afternoon on
our normal time slot. That means you have made it
to the middle of the week, before we hand things
over to the number one and only host of this segment,
we'd like to roll these two big red love dice
to see which host gets to have the first take.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
That's not big red love dice.

Speaker 3 (30:04):
They're your big red love I feel like you've used
these in your bedroom, very sticky. I used a leislol
on them doing I rolled a seven, I rolled a three.
You get gets you get first?

Speaker 4 (30:15):
All right?

Speaker 7 (30:15):
And now, ladies and gentlemen, the most famous person from
Scotch playings New Jersey besides Judy bloom By.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
You guys doing.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Fun music gives you the real headlines. These are the
ridiculous stories show These are the real stories. Since Comito's
going first, I gotta start with the story. It's it's everywhere.
So Steve Camino and a Rod have one thing in common,
but just one thing, and.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
You can't we kiss ourselves in the mirror. No, you can't.

Speaker 11 (30:42):
You can't pry them away from every Yankee game. So
Jacqueline Cordero, who is a Rod's girlfriend, posted a picture
of her in a sexy black dress with the caption
date night. The very next post in the story was
a picture of her and a Rod sitting on a
dock looking at a beautiful sunset, but in the foreground
was an iPad with the Yankee game on playing the Nationals.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
That's my guy.

Speaker 11 (31:04):
So fants were laying into Aaron like, I mean, you
got to respect him for this, his idea of a
quote ideal date night. But like so many people are
out of him midweek or major it's it's majorly awesome.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
In my opinion, He's slaying it on every level.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
He's taking in the sun, he's hanging out with his
beautiful girlfriend, he's watching the game, probably having a drink.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
He's living his life.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
And I respect this so much because guess what, he
loves the game and that's what he does for a living.
It always bothered me we talked about the Jeter blueprint.
It always bothered me that Peter was the guy no no, no, no, no,
everything said everything you're saying, you bozone, I rote the dice.
I won give me my moment. It always bothered me
that Jeter said when the season was over, when the

(31:47):
game was over, he sort of left it on the field.
He wasn't watching baseball all the time. And it's like, well,
how much do you really love baseball. Then Aron loves baseball.
That's why he cheated, because he cared that much. He
loved it more than anybody. So so it's the truth.
He wanted to be the best, that bad that he
sacrificed his own reputation to be the best.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
I love baseball.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
I think I could do multiple things, multitask, be at
a dinner, hangout, and still have my ear to the
game and enjoy myself. He's Alex Rodriguez. He loves the
game more than you. How could you be surprised? I
respect it. This is the weakest thing on planet Earth.

(32:31):
I get my turn. Wi'd your mom say in the eighties,
gag me with a spoon? Remember that phrase? He must
be on queludes. This is ridiculous. Honestly, it bothers me
when Covino does it. This is a rod Give it
a rest. There's one hundred and sixty two games. It's
not seventeen Sundays that we need to be zoned in. Honestly,

(32:52):
it's almost embarrassing.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
You know.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Maybe that's why Jay Low left him. Guy loves the
game possible. I think it's cool. It's cool for him.
It's still what he does by the way, I like
I like Aaron. I think he's great. I think a
lot of people clown on him for no reason, but
this is a reason I want to clown on him, Like, dude,
you're what are you doing? What I'm worried about? Glaber Torres?
Is that bat and his beautiful girl friend Joy?

Speaker 9 (33:16):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (33:17):
Dude?

Speaker 9 (33:18):
All right?

Speaker 6 (33:19):
All right?

Speaker 4 (33:20):
Kevin Burkhardt KB, We love KB. Friend of the show.

Speaker 11 (33:23):
Part of the premiere lineup of the NFL and Fox
broadcasting team is starting to get a taste of what
it's like sharing the broadcast booth with, of course, the goat,
Tom Brady. He appeared on the Calm Down Podcast with
Aaron Andrews and Chris A. Thompson was asked about his
new coworkers. He said, it's like a circus when you're
walking with Tom. Brady said it took him like an
extra like a extra hour or so just to get

(33:45):
from the green room down to the field. Said, everyone's
coming up to Brady, wants to talk to him, taking
photos with him.

Speaker 9 (33:51):
You know.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
He said he sees the positive of it.

Speaker 11 (33:53):
He thinks, like, you know, getting this insight from players
that want to talk to Brady will be cool. But
he also said Brady is very humble and willing to
accept feedback from Burkhart.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
So Midwaker Major.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
I think it's a major story because these are the
guys that we're gonna be watching dynamic duo, Burkhart and Brady.
I think Kevin Burkhart is the perfect guy to be
alongside Tom Brady because we worked with Kevin Burkhart at
S and Y. We did our first TV appearance with
Kevin Burkhart really good. Have you ever met rich a
guy with more swag who is more let's say, Mike

(34:28):
sure about himself than Kevin Burkhart, And you need a
guy like that to deal with the sort of attention
yeah and circus like atmosphere that Tom Brady's gonna get,
because you know, Kevin could hold his own in this atmosphere.
Kevin Burkhart working with Tom Brady is like Travis Kelsey
dating Taylor Swift. It's attention that you've never seen on

(34:48):
that level. Kevin Burkhard's a special person to deal with it.
Kevin Burkhart, fir his whole life, probably gets a bunch
of like, oh hey keV, Hey keV. Now Kevin Brady
he's got that silver Fox thing going on. He is
being stopped everywhere. You're right, so hey, I wish them well.
I'm curiously you'll see how they sound in the booth
because I think Kevin's the best.

Speaker 11 (35:05):
Netflix released their trailer for the upcoming docu series starting five.
I don't know if you guys have heard about this,
which will follow the in season lives of five NBA stars.
They announced the stars as well. It'll be Jimmy Butler,
Anthony Edwards, Demonte Semotis, Jason Tatum, and of course Daddy himself,
Lebron James. Series will premiere Wednesday, October ninth, to coincide

(35:27):
with the start of NBA training camps, of course, following
the footsteps of quarterback and receiver midweek.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Er Major Majorly Major. You had me at Butler and Edwards.
Edward's controversial, especially with what he's said recently about old
players not having skills.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
He's outspoken.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
Then you said, Lebron James, the guy you're not allowed
to call daddy on the court. That's major, dude, and
NBA is great at creating superstars. Now we get to
know him on a deeper level. I think this is
really cool. It's great for the great for basketball everything.

Speaker 5 (36:01):
He said.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
I agree, it's it's major major because again, if you're
if you're into the NBA, this will only pull you
in more to the great storylines.

Speaker 4 (36:08):
And again because.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
I watch Receiver, there are players that like I mean,
for instance, I'm on Ross Saint Brown. I followed him
as a player, but now I feel like I'm invested
in him because fact, I really liked his story and
his family and everything. So I think you're gonna get
a great glimpse into five superstars.

Speaker 5 (36:24):
So NBA.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
I love that they're on board with Netflix. It's very
cool move, all right.

Speaker 11 (36:28):
I guess when you land a one hundred million dollar
contract for your podcast, it attracts big guests.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
So the Kelsey Bros. Welcome, Welcome to Adam.

Speaker 11 (36:35):
Sandler this week as part of the season premiere The
Sad Body of the New Rights Podcast. As you know, Sandler,
I think revealed last week we talked about it that
Travis will be making a cameo in the upcoming Happy
Gilmore sequel. Well, Sandlor of course used his time to
gush about his love of Taylor Swift huge in his household,
his kids love it, and He's actually admitted that he's

(36:55):
afraid to talk to Taylor Swift because he doesn't want
to make himself seem like a for his family seem
like idiots. But he talked about how much he loves
the relationship between Travis and Taylor like everybody. So I
guess he's securing an invite to be possible upcoming wedding.
Who knows, Midwger Major. I heard Sandler said, Taylor Swift.

Speaker 4 (37:12):
So hot to touch to Heini, I think this is
I want to say major, it's more of a mid story.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
I just like Adam Samler, so hey, props to him,
and I'm glad that Kelsey's involved. I like the whole deal,
so it's not that juicy of a story, so I'll
see mid. Yeah, I'll say I love the mutual respect.
And it's funny beause you know, when you're a dad
and you got daughters, it's hard to not be like, yeah,
Taylor Swift, that's Adam Samla. I mean it's pretty well Ni.
Thank you, Spottsy Music. We got more comin on Rich

of reminiscing throwback conversation. So join us tomorrow, we'll be
we'll be back. And who's on for Collin tomorrow? J
Meck perfect jmex on tomorrow? And uh, you know what,
there was a story we didn't have time to get to,
but we could squeeze it in. There was a there
was some drinking going on. It was Joe Tessitur and

(39:58):
Jesse Palmer. Yeah, and it was the Florida State Georgia
Tech Game, the Dublin game, and it's that you saw
McAfee going wild and all the highlights they were drinking
on the air on the job.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
If you missed any of it, let's take a listen.

Speaker 5 (40:14):
I'll come back to Dublin and slash him, my friend.

Speaker 4 (40:18):
Can we call more games in Irol?

Speaker 5 (40:19):
Can we please have pis If you think I'm not
drinking slaunch.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
Everybody, it's just unbelievable.

Speaker 5 (40:26):
Follow That is good, understand? Oh man, I'm gonna hold
on a mind. And so was the first half fourteens
of fourteen.

Speaker 6 (40:33):
You've got to give their offensive line tons of credit, Joe,
because they really aren't forcing themselves up up front.

Speaker 5 (40:39):
We gotta share the loss like a good stout beer
black sou where's Jim Foley on camera two?

Speaker 3 (40:43):
Oh man, you gotta have something Opening White came back
week Sure, I get after him.

Speaker 1 (40:48):
I'm man get after a Camera two is gonna have
a great second half.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
I could see the future now riches to come into
it with a beer helmet on.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
It's so funny. First of all, I gotta say Joe
Tessitur as a fight fan. I'm a big boxing fan.
He's great. The dude is great. We've had him on
the show. He's a nice fella. Jesse Palmer, we watch
him on the Batcher and all that. There's a vibe
of remember Rich when you were able to curse on
the air on like satellite, where certain people would really
lean into it and you'd have that feeling of now

(41:17):
that they're trying too hard. Yeah, after a while, you know,
because we were at serious ExM for a long time,
there is that sense when a new person would come
by they were like, wait, we could swear, and then
you realize, I'm all get the VI because it's like
as if they've never had a beer before, like, oh wow, man,
try that. Oh it's it's uncharted territory. It's like in

(41:38):
a sports world when all a sudden you're like, we
could talk about gambling.

Speaker 4 (41:40):
Yeah you know, but that's why everything sponsored bike.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
I'm glad you said that because think about what used
to be taboo in our world, right, it seems to
be the norm now, right, and gambling one of them
Like oh just the other day, stephen A, didn't he say,
I want to have one of those gummies.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
Mad Dog has. People talk about weed.

Speaker 3 (42:00):
It's no big deal anymore, dude, Absolutely, mad Dog talks
about his routine.

Speaker 4 (42:05):
I had my gummy and I watch college a gummy.

Speaker 3 (42:08):
So if these are things we used to not talk
about and now we do in fact lean into it
in the future, do you think you're gonna have more
broadcasts where people are just eight cheers?

Speaker 5 (42:21):
Man?

Speaker 4 (42:21):
I don't know if.

Speaker 3 (42:22):
Drunk broadcasters, but I will say seriously, it would provide
for better content.

Speaker 4 (42:26):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (42:27):
We used to do a bunch of red carpet stuff
for let's say, like you know, an ESPN party or
a Rolling Stone or maxim Like. We'd go to those
the big Super Bowl parties. We'd interview athletes and celebrities
and at serious sextem there were less rules with that stuff.
I would have a couple of vodka sodas on the
red carpet, and I think my interviews were better not
gonna lie. I feel like if I loosened up Cavino

(42:48):
a joke, he's like, oh, here comes Richard Rust.

Speaker 4 (42:51):
Well, here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (42:51):
I would have two drinks and I would be super buzzed. Too,
just doing my best to keep it together. I think
when you're speaking at at a high rapid volume like
we are in a broadcast, your wheels are turning. I
think you just get more lightheaded, or the buzz hits
you quicker or something. I don't know, but I think
you'd get better content as a result. I think you're
gonna see some changes. There's gonna be too much money

(43:13):
to be made. Was that Guinness right? You don't think
they got some extra plug and loving out of that?
Maybe more money As.

Speaker 4 (43:21):
A real wheels are turning. It network, don't.

Speaker 3 (43:23):
Think that in the future it's gonna be like, hey,
what's the big deal? If they have two drinks plus,
they're gonna be more honest on the air. It's like
truth serum. You're gonna reap the benefits of it. That's
our prediction here moving forward, drinking on the job. Certain
jobs you can't ours Rocket Science. We'll see you guys
tomorrow in our regular slot. Thank you Colin, Thank you guys.
I will see you, promise land.

Speaker 4 (43:46):
Goodbye.
