sweet cheeks. What we've got all the experience in the world.

(00:24):
The guys help you make those hard decisions. And now
let's get your flexod Here's Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Championship Weekend and so much more. Welcome into I Want
your Flex. Hit him up at Swollen Dome. You can
find me at Dan Bayer on Fox and Ian Roddy
are executive producer at Ian Roddy underscore three games in
the books. The Christmas Tripleheader left nothing but cole in
most of our viewing habits. What the Max Brozmer experience.

(00:55):
Even in a win, it's tough to watch. Hopefully better
things to come in Week seven, Still a w though.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
How disappointed are you? If you're a LIONCE fan. It's
one thing to get eliminated from the playoffs. It's another
to basically beat. You got beat because a guy executed
a sixty five yard handle.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah right, they had net three yards passing. He had
fifty one himself. They lost forty eight yards on sacks.
Turns out to a net three yard passing game in
the Lions. The Lions were defeated handedly. You're right, twenty
three to ten. Boy, I had Jamior Gibbs in the guillotine,
crapped out. Anybody who had Amanra not happy. So there

(01:37):
was some stinkers. I played Justin Jefferson and you guys
know this podcast just solely because out of spite, Like
that's what it was like. I was not under any
sort of thought in a third place game that I
was gonna get one hundred and twenty yards and a
touchdown from Justin Jefferson. But I just played him anyway.
I said, screw it, we're going out. We're going out.

(01:58):
You brought us to this dance, you're gonna I.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Just thought for giggles, they just do a seven step
drop or have them out of the shotgun and just
gun it down hill.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Lion's secondary has been siv like most of the season.
They're down a number of starters. All of this that
they just say wing it around. No, Instead, he's running
for his life and turtling time and again just unconscidable.
The Jamiir Gibbs thing is absolutely uh well, but it
went in line with what the year had been for him.
I had had been feast or famine all year long.

(02:30):
Add the fumble lost for the added bonus. Dallas, you
got some love from Dak Prescott, who ended up playing
thank you to Washington and Bill Crosskey Merritt and company
for keeping it close. So they never got an opportunity
to go to Joe Milton. So if you started Dak
and the receivers, you got a little bit of love there.

(02:50):
Javonte Williams going down with the injury obviously a huge loss,
and Crosskey Merritt. If you were online and you got
the bonus that Rodriguez un fortunately got downgraded, then maybe
he became on RB two. That gave you some saving
grace and what was otherwise a miserable fantasy experience. Lastly,
I guess bo Nicks because of the rushing touchdown and

(03:12):
he gets the passing touchdown to Harvey. He gets you
over a bit, but overall three games that we can
say congratulations on a job done.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Here's my only worry that people who had a bunch
of guys go on Thursday. Aren't gonna listen to this
podcast because they feel their title game is already over.
That's fair, right, Maybe if you're in a punishment mode
and trying to avoid that punishment, you'll listen to this
just just try to save that tattoo from going on
your butt. But otherwise, I as I said, I looked

(03:42):
at my score, I've got like ten point six points
in my longtime league. Thanks George Pickens and Justin Jefferson, Like,
there's just it's tough to come back now. It's not
over and over, sure, but when when the highest of
highest of stakes are being played, it stinks that we
had some stinkers on Thursday.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Then you just wish and hope that everybody else's stars
fail too, that they like I'm on ross A Brown.
You mentioned him, he said he was mad about playing
on Christmas. Is that what translated into his lackluster effort?
And for the last place, again, did you see the
ihop promotion that's going on.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
I saw the commercial.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Was fantastic, so and then you got people talking trash
to them. So yeah, bottomless pancakes coming back. That's that's
the losers.

Speaker 5 (04:23):
That's gotta be the goal for any marketing team or
advertising like or ihop in general, like they love this
so much, like this is the absolute best case scenario
that they're just going viral in addition to just having
a great ad.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
No, it's smart, just all around, just a good, good
way to dive on to what's become a trend the
last couple of years.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
By the way, speaking of Christmas ads, I don't know
if this was in my subconscious. So I'm actually asking
you guys, do you guys ever remember any like Dura
cell commercials or energizer commercials in the past. Sure where
it's like Christmas morning and no one has batteries.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I couldn't remember if that was.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
I was just thinking of that because I went out
for some Christmas shopping and I'm like, I need triple
A batteries. I got to make sure I bring them back,
and I secured them, and I'm like, that would be
a good commercial. I'm like, I can't remember if I
saw it, or I can't remember if I actually came
up with an original idea. And then Christmas morning comes
around and I forgot to get double A batteries.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
So yeah, so now all that I bought the wrong
stinking battery size.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
I thought I needed more Triple A, which we were
completely out of. We only had like two Double A.
My son gets a remote control car, you need two
batteries for the remote control. You need three batteries for
the truck. Yes, by the way, took them out of
the Christmas lights that are flashing in the house.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Were like, all right, here are here are the three batteries.
Let's make this work.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
I know what I'm buying you now, so I noted, uh,
but that was like thirty years ago. Those ads though, Okay,
that would be something that I think you would bring
back now to remind folks, because remote control cars and
stuff are back. Like I was at a at a
costco near me last week and there were a whole
aisle full of things and every one of them was

(05:58):
a battery operator something, and it's like, I don't think
people think about it the same way.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
You need it. You need I have a battery bin.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
And the problem was I just didn't check the tote
that we have it in to see how many Double
A that we had, and I just knew that we
were out of Triple A. And yes, speaking of Christmas commercials,
all right, enough waste of your time on that. Let's
get to the real numbers that matter. Mike Harmon's rankings
for Week seventeen. Your top five quarterbacks, running backs, and
wide receivers. Mike, let's get to your top five qbs.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Let's have some file. Let's go with Joe Burrow. Three
of his four games back, he's been fantastic. I still
want answers over what happened against Baltimore when everybody looked disinterested.
But you're looking at nineteen twenty five, twenty eight in
those three performances, twenty five touchdowns against ten picks. That's
what Arizona's given up, and they look like they're giving
up as well, at least defensively. But maybe they're inspired

(06:50):
by the Jacoby Brissett love with his offensive line and
then the Christmas gifts. Matthew Stafford going up against Atlanta.
He's second overall. Four times he's gone over twenty one
points in his last five, averaging twenty one points for
the season. Middling Atlanta defense giving up about sixteen point
two a game. We'll take the over on this. Pukinakua
still trying to make up for his bad decisions last week.

(07:14):
Trevor Lawrence going up against Indianapolis. He's just had a
monster second half. You know, he's already number four in
fantasy quarterbacks now at this point, he's got nine games
with at least nineteen fantasy points. Going up against Indianapolis.
The ship is sinking and they'll have an opportunity here
that Jackson will squad. The only thing you fear is
that too much in the run game. But maybe Lawrence

(07:36):
gives you some of his legs as well. Drake May
going up against the Jets, because Jets, he's got ten
games at least nineteen points. He's third overall, averaging nearly
twenty one a game, Jets' seventh most get points allowed
over the last four and for the year, it's twenty
six against nothing. Will the streak continue? And then finally
let's go with Jalen Hurts using his legs a little

(07:57):
bit more. We're seeing the shift right back to Berkley,
back to Hurts making plays with his legs. So he
gets the nod over his counterpart here coming off the
injury list, that is Josh Allen, but Hurts coming in
at number five six to total points, averaging nineteen points
per game. Buffalo eighth best over the last four six
touchdowns five picks, but they've given up the seventh most

(08:17):
rushing yards on the air.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
I thought that the game was really late in the season,
and I saw on a TikTok from I think it
was wgr in Buffalo and the host there, and I've
apologize for not running his name down, but just basically
made the point that the NFL kind of wasted this
Eagles Bills game.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
There's not the high stakes.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
It's now on a You needed this to be like
week six or week five to really like grab an interest.
And while it's nice to see, this also could have
been a Super Bowl matchup, So I don't know why
the NFL would want to rematch, you know, to put
it so late in the season. I do feel like
the value of Eagles Bills is a bit wasted because
the stakes just really aren't there for the teams.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
Seems like this would have been one of those games
is going and it's one of the other schedule quirks
that we talk about all the time. It's like football
is just coming back and everybody gets excited, and I
could play we give up too many of those matchups
for week one or week two. But to your point,
if this is in the first half of the season,
like maybe when everybody's starting to take their buys, then
it still has that juice. At this point. Now it's

(09:18):
just a matter of.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Seating, yes, right, and the Eagles kind of locked into theirs.
The Bills just probably locked into a wildcard just the matters.
If it's five, six or seven. Division is still up
for grabs, but just not likely. All right, Let's get
to the top five running backs.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Mike for Week seventeen, CMC going up against Chicago. I
love my Bears story, no question about it. But we
look at the Bears defense. You're gonna be able to
move the ball on them, just a matter of whether
you keep it when it matters. They are the eleventh
best over the last four against running backs. But you
look at CMC, you twenty two fantasy points per game.
Continue that trend. Number two, how about a little Chase Brown,

(09:54):
Let's give them a little bit of love here. Up
to thirteenth for the full season, ninth since Week nine,
so getting it done. But going up against the second
worst team going up against running backs, they give up
a lot via the passing game and you're looking at
nearly thirty seven fantasy points per game allowed to running backs,
and we know Brown, since he became a more active

(10:14):
part of the passing game, has been over that one
hundred total yard mark virtually every week for the last ten.
James Cook going up against Philadelphia, we know they're still
banged up on their defensive line. Back to back Monsters
twenty eight fantasy points per game and those tied for
fifth overall, seventeen plus five of six. That's what I'm
looking at leaning back into the run game. Then we

(10:35):
get a little bit deeper about Derrick Henry. Yeah, he
might fumble when you need him most, but I guarantee
you he'll get the ball in the final twelve to
fifty three of this game last week, Right, Hey, I
got one hundred and twenty eight and two. You know what,
it's the other guy's turn. The hell are we talking to?
This is not Ayso John Harbaugh. Also, the fact that

(10:56):
you have Snoop Huntley means that you're gonna see a
lot of Dereck Henry in this one. And then finally
to round it out, the Jean Robinson going up against
the Rams, and I'm looking at it particularly because he
splits out wide so frequently he'll be part of the
passing game and that's where he makes his say.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Think the NFL thought they had a dandy Monday nighter
as well with that Rams Falcons game, and they got
half the equation correct.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Well, sometimes you know, it's better than the goose egg,
which is how many titles I'm playing for? Damn it.
Actually there might be a Yahoo Public League still sitting
out there, but otherwise I'm still salty about the Guillotine League. Dan,
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Well, you have every reason to be salty because I
have no reason in being in the final week of that,
you know what whatsoever.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
So the positive as we sat down to record this,
I'll take some and I wish injury on no one.
George Kittle didn't practice on Friday, so at least, you know,
maybe it was more legit than perhaps it seemed at
the time.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
What's worse that or Jamier Gibbs basically not playing at
all on Thursday, because that's what happened.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
He had a cloak of invisibility. There's no question about that.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
Rams Falcons has had me choking, and that's that's what
that game did. All right, let's get to the top
five wide receivers where we'll probably hear a ram here
sooner rather than later.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Let's do it right off the jump. Pouka Nakua with
that ridiculous effort the last time out, he's one point
behind JSN now for the top spot overall, only one
single digit game that he's completed all year long, So
set it and forget it. Ronco product number two Jamar
Chase going against Arizona Arizona. He's basically calling out Joe Burrow,

(12:29):
saying I need a touchdown because he hasn't scored since
forever what October sixteenth, I think was his last touchdown.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
It's been a while, yes, that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
So trying to find himself some love and over the
last you got an Arizona team giving up a nearly
thirty points a game to wide receivers. How about Mike
Evan's going against Miami. Last couple of games, he's been
fairly quiet, Miami defense showing up a little bit down
the stretch, but this is one where they just need
to leave everything on the field as they battle for
that NFCCI title. And I'm looking for Mike Evans, who's

(13:01):
done his part, you know, just a matter of finishing
things in the red zone. And then let's go to
an old favorite who's risen up very quietly in half
PPR Leagus. He's now sixed after a couple of monster games,
and that's Chris Olave. Going up against Tennessee. He's got
five games with fifteen plus last two games, nearly fifty
points overall in Tennessee, seventh most receiving yards allowed, opportunity knocks,

(13:27):
and then no top five is complete without JSN to
round it off. Going up against Carolina, he's first overall. Look,
he's got one game with fewer than eleven points all year, sir.
In terms of floors, this is pretty high.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
A couple of names that are missing because the Cowboys
played yesterday. We'd sometimes have a Pickens or a Lamb
in the in the rankings, and they're already off the
board with their futrid performance that they had in everybody
else scoring for us. My goodness, it was it was bad.
It was it was ever buddy.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
Right, I mean, because Dak Prescott's numbers, You're like, okay,
what do we got? And then you start going in
deeper into the play by play and the boxer.

Speaker 4 (14:07):
Going Ferguson like, what, yeah, let's turp in.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
With the eighty six yard He had one catch eighty
six yards, but he got part of that steak though.
You got one of those tomahawks.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
That didn't even look the Netflix didn't even look that appealing.
Like the branding that they did was terrible.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Yes, it also looked like a Northwestern end.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
They did everything they could to just try and trick
everyone into like making it feel like some huge event,
and it was just like, we all know what's going on.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
These games are meaningless, and that's what they were.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
It was just get in there and sell, sell, sell.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
Right like that the halftime performance with all the they
brought in, like you know, a country singer and what's
her name, Andrea.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Andrea Bolli Son snoop. You had Duck Hodges riding in
the sleigh with Landy Wilson who was his fiance age
one of the.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
He I can't remember what game.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
I had to go and repair repair a Christmas light
outside because half the string went out. Oh yeah, that's
what part of my Christmas Day was. So it's the
way it goes. So I missed like I saw a
little of snoop. My wife's like, wasn't this five years ago?

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Good? No, this is a new one. And so she
was like, oh, and.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Then thinking back to the super Bowl, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (15:16):
It's exactly what you thought, right, It's exactly what.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Wait are they replaying that they buy the rights some
hot tracks.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
That we had on on the Thursday games. On Christmas Day,
we'll have some hot plays coming up, plus cold source
Ian standing by with a couple of streaming defenses. What
a week it is for Survivor pools as well. We'll
all dive into that more next year. And I want
your flex welcome back. He is Mike Carmen. I'm Dan Byer.

(15:44):
That's Ian Roddy. Time now for the hot plays four
week seventeen. Mike, who didn't make the rankings, but guys,
you got to get in your lineup.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Seems like we got an opportunity here in that Sunday
Night affair of Chicago San Francisco over under sitting at
fifty two and a half. So we got both Caleb
Williams and Brock Purty up on the list. As I say,
the cautionary because everybody gets excited about the Bears and
the takeaways like they let you move the ball, and
then with San Francisco good enough to finish the job.
As we mentioned before, Kittle still a question of whether

(16:13):
he'll be available one of those game time, but certainly
not at practice. But for Purdy, you're talking about a
guy averaging nearly twenty one fantasy points per game. For Caleb,
he's been fantastic eleven games with at least fifteen Fantasy points,
so that floor has certainly risen over time. And the
fact that he's not pulling up sacks, which I know
some leagues have taken those out and don't count them

(16:36):
against the quarterback, but others do. You talk about interceptions
that don't happen, So it's all positivity there. Jacoby Brisset
against Cincinnati, I mean Cincinnati eleven point six last week.
He might have sent you home if you started perset,
but otherwise for fantasy purposes, he's been fantastic. Back to
that Bears game. Juwan Jennings touchdowns in six of his

(16:56):
last seven games, So opportunists in the red zone we
got are going up against Miami still rolling three games
greater than fifteen is last seven, so it's been a
little bit choppy, but an opportunity. How about Ashton genty
Do we dare put him after his.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Big game got him out right?

Speaker 1 (17:12):
I mean we kind of have to thirty one at
point three the monster week, his first really big effort
a while. But he's only got five games of at
least fifteen yards fifteen points, I should say felt like
fifteen yards at times. Five games of at least fifteen
points on the year, two with over thirty giants third worst.

(17:32):
The only thing I fear is this going to be
like that old electric football game where guys just kind
of fall down on a field, because that seems like
where we're going with guys being deactivated and pushed out
and whatever. No, you take the ball, No, you take
the ball. Kenneth Gaywell against Cleveland one of the great
viral clips of the week, Aaron Rodgers going go that way,
go run that route. Thirteen point two or better. Four

(17:52):
of his last five games been active in the passing game,
So an opportunity here against Cleveland, trying to back off
that pass rush. Eight chan going to again Tampa. He's
died for fifth best in the National Football League for
you this year eighteen point four points. Per game for
Tampa Bay. They've given up two thousand total yards and
fourteen touchdowns to running backs. Tony Pollard might not get

(18:13):
you that high ceiling, but they're giving him the ball
with great regularity, three straight one hundred yard games, a
little more out of the passing game as well, going
up in that divisional battle, Jacoby Myers going up against Indy.
If you want to take a shot there. His ceiling
has been neutered a little bit these last couple of weeks,

(18:34):
but they paid him. If only you got points for blocking.
And then back to that Giants Vegas game. Little Wandell
Robinson low space last week, but a guy, the targets
are going to be there in the opportunity and all
it takes is one slip tackle and away we go.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
The story with that Raiders Giants game is the Max
Crosby apparent walkout after being told he wasn't going to play.
I thought that if you wanted to play, you should
stay in the building.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
You don't leave.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
That's what they wanted you to do, So that's that
was my only advice to Max Crosby is he should
have done the radio station sit in those fake promos
where a guy locks himself into a studio for twenty
four hours, which is completely planned to buy management. But
that's what you should have done, Max Crosby. You don't
storm out and leave when they tell you're not going
to play. You make them play you by not leaving

(19:21):
at all and just being there all the time.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
I one hundred agree, right right, make it about make
it the stare down.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Yes, and don't mind I'm not going anywhere, but don't.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Give it any any error by it while you left
the building.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
Yeah, you made us a game check. At least let
him pay you.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
That's it, right, It's like, all right, we're still gonna
pay you the last two weeks. Now you can say, well,
you left and he, you know, caused a ruckus.

Speaker 5 (19:43):
As admirable as it is, though, like that he that
he wants to play that badly, I just feel like
the fact that he would not even understand why they
could ask him such a thing, Like it's they're they're
losing and they're trying to tank and obviously, like you
don't have to agree with that decision, but to just
not understand at all why they would want to sit
their best player, like easily their best player and not

(20:05):
want to risk any injury, Like come on, yeah, I
mean he addressed anything the media session earlier in the
week and he's like, I don't.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
Care about draft picks. I just played football.

Speaker 5 (20:14):
No, it's true and that and maybe the tank part
is irrelevant, but the point is, like it just plenty
of teams across the league are sitting their best players
because they know that they.

Speaker 6 (20:24):
Aren't playing for anything at this point. Yeah, in terms
of like whether it.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
Be injury, tanking, whatever, the point is, it's a pretty
valid strategy right now. So for him to just get
so mad, storm out of the building and like, you know,
just in complete disbelief, it's just a.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
Little weird to me. But still, I mean admirable that
he wants to play.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
That's yeah, it's hard. That pride thing comes with you,
right of if I'm physically able to play and they
tell me I'm not, because certainly these guys miss plenty
of game or play plenty of games where they feel
absolutely miserable. And if he's gutted it out to this point,
he's like, can I just finish my job?

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Yeah, play against the crappy Giants exactly. Maybe a win
that I haven't felt many of these throughout the days.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Maybe I get a sack, yes.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Yes, right please and against the Chiefs the final week,
Chiefs coming to town without Patrick Mahomes like there's another
opportunity to the feast.

Speaker 6 (21:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
I mean he probably feels slighted then, because it's like
he's sitting here licking his chops for the amount of
sex get and they're telling him no, Well, you at least.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
Can get something out of the year, right if you
pile up against Oldadok and you know Jackson Dart who
runs into sacks.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
I'll just say this before we get to the cold source.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
If you can't figure out a way to make it
work where it would be like limited snaps or pass
rushing situations, then it's much more than just Max Crosby
wanting to play, which is I think what Ian said
and what you guys said, it's it's the tanking aspect
of it. It's the possible trade aspect of it, and
that's ultimately what it is. So Max Crosby may be

(21:57):
mad with all of that, but he also may be
mad that he actually things he think he could be
on the chopping block or on the trading block.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
I should say, not chopping block, but the trading block.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
Yeah, finds himself into greener pastures. Maybe there's a win
in his future.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
Let's get to the cold source Mike.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
For Week seventeen, Sam Donald going amainst Carolina just from
a I don't know what to expect. I don't know
where the ceiling or floors. Maybe you got a better
read on this game. But Carolina's defense has played pretty well.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
Yeah, they SEAHORKX played some funky games in the past.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
And this has nothing to do with Mike McDonald or
Sam donald, but they've had some funky games in Carolina,
some low scoring affairs. They don't seem to be bothered
by the one o'clock Eastern time starts. They've been played
very well in that scenario. But you wonder on how
much the last game took out of him. And even
though it was on a Thursday that went against the Rams,
was huge, it wouldn't shock me with an emotional letdown

(22:47):
because next week San Francisco's on the horizon.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Yeah, three games with Gray over his last seven, three
games over seventeen points, three games with eight point three
or fewer. So for Championship week, perhaps in no Goo.
Baker Field going against Miami. I know we had Evans
as one of our plays. Why because you can still
rack up targets, receptions and yardage, but not necessarily find
the house. And we have no for Baker Mayfield after

(23:11):
all those early season heroics. It's been tough sledding, which
is why we take Bucky Irving with him not getting
a lot out of the passing game, right, That's where
he made his hay early in the season. Since he's
come back, has been a bystander, oftentimes back to back
duds with fewer than eight Fantasy points.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Yeah, they've got a three headed monster because they put
Tucker in at the goal line and Rashade White still
getting snaps.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
Yeah, so an absolute mess. Jonathan Taylor going up against Jacksonville.
Last big game came before the bye, right, that forty
eight point performance. We've watched him struggle fifteen point four
and Week sixteen was his best in five weeks.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
That game was in Germany, exactly. Yes, what's the falcon
in Germany?

Speaker 1 (23:52):
You should do the rest of the podcast like you're
channeling your inner Zemo from the falcon and inter soldier again.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
The Arizona Cardinal German fans are my inspiration.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Them and Trey McBride, as they would say, her eyes
up at sea.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
I love that Taylor has been active in the passing game,
So maybe you get a little bit of a salvation there,
but I'm not banking on it. Kyron Williams, it's the
ceiling lower because Blake Koram has been running the ball
really well and keeps showing up at the goal line.
Josh Jacob's going against Baltimore. I think Malik Willis will
out rush him this week.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
Interesting about that for a little while now.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Not to mention, you've got his backup. Wilson's been running
the ball well when he's a playable Jacobs has shots
for his knee. There's a lot going on there.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
And again a team who's seating is pretty much determined
already for them, so what's more.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
To play for? There? You go.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Drake London going up against the Rams four point two
points in his return to the field. Again, this is
you'll probably find him as a back end wide out too.
I'm not loving it. Collins going up against the Chargers.
This one's interesting. Right when you look at this, you
take him, you take Justin Herbert who might have been
finding his way back up into your back end ones.

(25:10):
I think both of those. I think that's a defensive struggle.
You're going to be there, right, yes, so you can
watch those defenses run them up.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
Yes, I expect a nineteen to sixteen ball game battle
of dicker versus fairbairn. I love it coming up on
that right. I think four field goals each from each kicker.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
I dig that Ted McMillan, the last guy put on
the list, going up against Seattle six for ten seventy
three to score the last time out touchdowns four of
five this one again, going up against that secondary. They
may be able to try to feed him the ball.
I do not think they will be successful.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
All right, Let's get to the Ninjas, Mike, the sneaky
plays for week seventeen. They may not be in the
top five rankings. They may not be a hot play,
but maybe you should play him when it matters the
most too.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
You got let's run him quick. We got Tyler Shuck
who finds his way here all the time. Seventeen plus
and four straight for fantasy owners. He and Alave finding
something big. Philip Rivers going up against Jacksonville had his
eighteen points last week. Jacksonville give him about seventeen points
per game. This more is the Christmas wish. Like Carol
Brady garting her voice back to singing Church. Kirk, Yeah,

(26:14):
I'm bold. Kirk Cousin's going up against the Rams, winging around.
Kyle Pitts has been great of late. Tyrone Tracy going
up against the Las Vegas ran thirty seven touches the
last two games, Ramandre Stevenson because still no sign of
Trey Van Henderson at practice. They've got a lot of
guys hurt, and again when we're talking about seating in battles,

(26:35):
they still have something to work to, but a lot
of injuries besetting things. Manungay going up against San Francisco
talking about touches, twelve plus touches in five straight. All
I'm looking for is opportunity here. Marvis Harrison Junior going
up against Cincinnati. Quiet return, but clearly they want to
feed him the ball now that he's back on the field.
And night Mitchell going up against the Jets nine for

(26:57):
fifteen with one hundred and one yards and a score
in his last two Let's go Mitchell, my pushing two hard.
He is looking at me like I'm nuts, and I
wanted to Mumpfield going up against Atlanta DeVante Adams still
probably not going this week, which means we get Mumpfield
three catches on his eight targets forty yards. And then
if you really want to get freaky, whether you're in

(27:20):
a one week kind of consolation bracket one week game,
this is where Taysom Hill after his big game last week, sure,
and he's been running the ball a bunch of late,
right we talk about the touches per game have actually
been up these last couple of weeks. So maybe it's
just a hey, let's send you out with a bang,

(27:40):
but thirty eight yard touchdown mats. People are making Hall
of Fame arguments, which is great. I want to give
them all a big hug because Taysom Hill was a
frequent guest of the show when we'd have a stringer
Jason Smith, and I was like, who do you got?
We got Taysom Bill, Taysoon welcome back. So maybe he
goes out with a bang one last time, but a
spot here against.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
Tennessee there it is you're a hot plays cold sores
and Ninja's four week seventeen heating up where Ian Roddy's
streaming defense is. It's an interesting week for Survivor when
things are really coming down the stretch. We'll dive into
that plus level points of palooza. He's Mike Carmon, that's
Ian Roddy. I'm Dan Byer. It's all next tier on.
I want your flex before we get to the Survivor

(28:22):
and points of Palooza. Ian Roddy is at the plate
with the streaming defenses for week seventeen.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
Okay, guys, so we'll start with the New Orleans Saints.
They're forty nine percent rostered in ESPN leagues when I
checked earlier today.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
It's probably that high because they had the Jets last week.

Speaker 6 (28:38):
Yeah right, exactly, truly, yeah, so exactly.

Speaker 5 (28:42):
That's a good transition because they were the top overall
defense last week against the Jets. They got eight sacks
and two turnovers against Brady Cook and co. So yeah,
coming off a hot performance, this week, they're playing Cam
Ward and the Titans, so good a good matchup to
follow it up. Obviously, it's a you know, they're better
than Brady Cook and the Jets, but still exploitable. As
we know, Ward's been better over the past few weeks,

(29:04):
but it's been against the spiraling Chiefs and the very
very injured forty nine ers, so I think this Saints
defense is still a step above those teams and still
a viable play here against cam Ward. And then the
other one I got for you is the New York
Giants twenty nine percent rostered in ESPN leagues.

Speaker 6 (29:20):
They were the second.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
Highest scoring defense last week, so I'm giving you just
the two that were last week's top two. But it
was a good matchup for them last week against the Vikings.
This week they're playing against Gino Smith and the Raiders,
so maybe an even better matchup, but doubling down. Yeah,
And as we've been talking about it in the show though,
this is like the Tank Bowl right now, so both
teams don't seem to be trying very.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
Hard to win.

Speaker 5 (29:41):
But Gino is the most sacked quarterback in the entire
NFL to this point in the season. He's taken three
or more in seven straight games. And the Giants have
dudes up front who can get home, so I expect them.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
To do that they that they do, this will be
an interesting matchup. Again for those that don't know, the
first overall pick if there would be a time between
the Raiders and it actually wouldn't go to their head
to head matchup, it would go to their strength of schedule.
But whoever wins this game because they have the two
worst records in the National Football League, really has a
leg up on the other entering the final week, where

(30:11):
we expect both teams to lose. However, if the Raiders
were to lose this with a wounded Chiefs team coming
to town, we've seen stranger things happen where maybe you
win and then take yourself out of it. But that
could be a scenario for the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
They did do a handshake and save everybody three hours
by just agreeing to a tie. Hey, let's hit the tables.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
Uh remember remember Raiders charging? Remember Raiders Chargers? Like that
was the thought that people are like, should they should
just tie? And it's like, well, that would be against
every fiber of the being of the National Football League,
and thank goodness that didn't happen. All right, So a
lot of Saints and Giants talked with this game, and
that leads us to the survivor side of things, because

(30:53):
when you have if you've made it this far, the
likelihood is this. You probably have a couple of teams
if you didn't have double up weeks, but the Bears
could be a team that would be available. But you're
not gonna pick the Bears on the road in San Francisco.
It's just they may win that game. You might as
well take your opportunity with the Saints and Titans, or

(31:14):
with the Giants and Raiders. And while Ian's on the
Saints and Giants for streaming defenses, I'm on the Titans
and Raiders for survivor just because of being home. I'm
gonna take the opposite way of that. Saints are a
better team than the Titans, but I feel the Titans
have at least played better football, and they're they're bound

(31:35):
to get a home nice win to send them off
for the season before they find out who their next
head coach is. And I love how the Saints have played, guys,
but I just don't think they're a six win team.
So they're at five and ten right now, and maybe
they are, maybe they're gonna prove me wrong, but they're
dropping further in the draft, something that they shouldn't do

(31:55):
because of how well they're playing right now.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
That was kind of interesting, right, because we have the
board that you it up every year and it's like,
all right, we can come back to the same thing.
It's like, all right, the Browns will be bad, these
guys will be bad. And for the Saints it became
a get a couple of good parts, right Russell lave
As you well know going back to his college days.
It's a top five guy with someone throwing them the ball,

(32:17):
and then all of a sudden they're just screwing around
and finding wins down the stretch here.

Speaker 4 (32:22):
It's remarkable too. Alvin Kamara has been playing.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Devin Niel's out the Kenry Miller was lost for the season,
so they've been able to piece this together thanks apart
to one of your ninjas, Tyler Shook points of palooza.
I don't mean to whoos out guys, but I just
think Cardinals Bengals could be a lot of fun. It's
up there fifty three and a half and now I
think it's overtaken for the Bears. Niners was up there,
I think like you mentioned as well, but yeah, that's

(32:50):
the one that I like. If there was one that
could get a little fun, could get a little frisky,
could be that Monday nighter. As you said, with the
Rams and Falcons, maybe there is a send off and
the controlled elements of Atlanta, But give me Cards Bengals.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
I'll just take the easy way out. Week seventeen.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Yeah, but you know what, that's a game that normally
folks wouldn't care about, but for fantasy purposes. Yeah, there
is so much going on there. Old quarterbacks, all those
wide outs, the running back position. Certainly on the Cardinals side,
you've rolled the dungeons and dragons die to figure out
who's got touches. But yeah, I mean that one's gonna
be a fun game to watch.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
Yeah, it should absolutely be fun. So here's the deal.
So this is our Week seventeen preview. Week eighteen. We
know a lot of leagues are done and wrapped up
by then. What we'll do is we'll have a recap
episode for you on Monday, and then we'll also have
a version of a rankings episode at the end of
the week. There will be no mid week episode coming
up next week. There's no Thursday games. Everybody's playing on Sunday,

(33:47):
so it's just easier to settle in and you can
enjoy your New Year's that way. But We will be
back to talk to you after Week seventeen, plus we'll
have postseason episodes as well, going all the way through
the Super Bowl and even a couple of weeks after
that as we prep he for the twenty twenty six
fantasy season. So for Ian, Roddy and Mike Carmen, I'm
Dan Fire, good luck in week seventeen and we'll talk

(34:08):
to you on the other side here on i wanka flags.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
