Speaker 3 (00:40):
August eighth. August ninth, Cavino turns another year older. I'll
let him say how old he's going to be, but
he's not here today. So you got me, Monzi. You
got Ryan Birschinger as our executive producer, who's enjoying a
well earned snack right now. Iowa Sam is here. Hello,
Iowa Sam. How do you and Isaac long Crown's at
the news down keep it rocking, Elijah and Sagar on
(01:02):
the video. Glad to have you with us, Big Mike
on the ones and twos, not running anything at this place,
Just kidding, Mike. Glad to have you here on a Friday,
as we hang out for the Fellas, hit Mancy up
at Monzi Milanios. You can find me at Dan Byer
on Fox. It is Friday, getting ready for a weekend
where we've got more football. In fact, a couple of games. Tonight,
(01:23):
Lions and Falcons, Browns, Panthers, Commanders and Patriots will play.
And then tomorrow Monson, the Buffalo Bills will open up
their preseason at home against the New York Giants. And
I bring this up for a couple of reasons because
the Bills have been a topic of conversation. In fact,
Awful Announcing talked about something that we talked about yesterday.
(01:45):
They put an article up about hard Knocks and the
Buffalo Bills, and the Bills are on my mind, they're
on everyone's mind because they're a super Bowl contender, but
they open preseason tomorrow. But they're also just the topic
of conversation because Josh Shalon's coming off that MVP season
and trying to get over the ump of beating the
Kansas City Chiefs and making it back to a super Bowl.
(02:06):
That's why we talk about the Buffalo Bills a lot, right.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Yeah, absolutely, And then today because of the things flying
in the WNBA.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Everyone's bringing up true.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
Yes, that's so, you know, I had to bring that
back in.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
She just can't get away from Buffalo.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
I can't get away from Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Monzi also found out about Jason Stewart and my Buffalo plans.
So hopefully her and Breed don't steal.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
No, no, you didn't.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
You wouldn't.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
You wouldn't tell me because you didn't want us to
show up.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
That's that's true. Last year, I said I wanted to
go to an A's game in Oakland before it closed,
and that was like one of my summer to do lists.
We announced them on the show. Monzi was here. In fact,
Manzy I vividly remember couldn't come up with three things,
so she only had one and that was to finish
half marathon, so she really didn't even take part in
(02:53):
the exercise. Thank you for that. Well, it's true. So
what you did then you stole my idea and then
in the last September her and Brie end up flying
to Oakland going to an A's game. Never even asked,
never even said, Dan, I know this is your idea,
this is something that you wanted to do. They just
ended up going and Jason Stewart and I. I've told
(03:19):
Jason he has family in the upstate New York area.
I said, I want to go to a Bills game
before they move into their new stadium, so we are
in the planning of that process. And I didn't want
you to know because then you and Brie would be
in Buffalo Week one as they take on the Ravens
Sunday Night football, taking selfies of YouTube, being in Buffalo
(03:42):
and taking my idea and running away with it.
Speaker 4 (03:44):
That's the whole You're right, Dan, Brie and I took
the only two seats available for that game. You're so right,
you couldn't have gone.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
I don't want to rehash this, but I find it
amazing that you find no reason to think that you
did anything wrong in this. I didn't you stole my idea? Yes,
that's all. And then you didn't include me on the
plans that you made with someone else.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Were you going to take a day off your wife
was gonna let you go with Bree and I on
a day trip to Oakland to.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Watch the EG if we need to do a round
trip round trip in one day and one day we
want traveling.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Nobody asked me, No one asked me, I thought, like
a nice drive up because because it'd be nice, you know,
road trip.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Oh so you had a different plan of what you
wanted to do that you could have executed.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Well, yes, but at least at least I didn't steal
this idea from anybody, and Cavino and Rich ended up
doing their own. They went to a game in Sacramento
in April. Now, they didn't ask me if I wanted
to go because I think it was a master's weekend.
But also it wasn't my idea to go, So I
wasn't mad at them for that. This going to Oakland
(04:51):
was my idea that again I brought up in the city.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
You definitely did. And I'm gonna shout out John from
my co workout the Dodgers, who had told me before
your idea of the many times he would fly out
to Oakland to watch a game and come back.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
So then when you said, I was like, I should
do what John p does.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Oh see, so it wasn't steal your idea.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
You just inspired me. I said I wanted to go
to a game in Oakland before they left. Yeah, you
and Brie went to a game in Oakland before they left.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
And just give me and other thousands of people, no,
we didn tell you.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
All right, well, I want to go to a game
in Buffalo. I'll see there to see you'll be there
the week before and then steal my thunder the point
being there. The Buffalo Bills are on the minds of many,
and they're on my mind as well because I love
the thirty for thirties. Do you love the thirty for
thirty movies on ESPN?
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (05:46):
They a great series started out. Now I felt like
there's been a thirty for thirty made for everything. But
there are thirty for thirties that you keep on your DVR,
not bills games like Adam Kaplan, but there's just kidding
at them. There's things that you keep on your DVR
because you like them so much. My favorite thirty for
thirty was the one about the SMU death penalty and
(06:08):
the scandal that they had the nineteen eighties. I've heard
many people say their favorite thirty for thirty was the
U about the University of Miami football. Heard a lot
of different ones. I have kept a couple on my DVR,
and one of them that I have is the one
about the Buffalo Bills and the four Super Bowls that
they went to. And this is early nineteen nineties, so
(06:30):
I'm prime early teens around that time, you know, thirteen, fourteen,
fifteen years old, and I remember Buffalo going to all
of these Super Bowls and I watched the thirty for
thirty and I thought it was great. And what I
want to bring up here is I think something is
something that as we go through time, we can all
(06:51):
relate to. And looking back on Super Bowl twenty five,
I couldn't change the outcome. But at that time, Manzi,
the Bills were thought to be the hot team in
the NFL, the hot new young team in the NFL.
And it's the Giants that come in that end up
somehow making it to a super Bowl and then are
playing a game with a backup quarterback. What better story
(07:15):
than seeing Jeff Hostetler as a backup go and beat
the mighty Buffalo Bills with Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas
and Andre Reid and Bruce Smith, Cornelius Bennett and all
their great defenders that they had as well. The Bills
were loaded and the Bills were gonna get theirs. Now,
going back watching that thirty for thirty. I wish I
(07:36):
hadn't cheered for the Giants in that game. I look
back on it and say, knowing what I know now,
I should have been cheering for the Buffalo Bills. It
wouldn't have changed the outcome. But knowing what I know,
I wouldn't have cheered. Knowing that the Giants then would
get another Super Bowl and upsetting the Patriots, and then
get another one four years later and beating the Patriots again,
(07:57):
and seeing what Buffalo then had to endure over their
next four years. It leads me to this topic, and
this is where we want to hear from you. Eight
seven seven nine nine on Fox. It's eight seven seven
nine nine six six three six'. Nine you could Hit
mancy up At Manzy. Belanas you can find me at
Dan byer On. Fox there has to be a game
(08:17):
or a team in your memory that you look back
and you cheered for. That now you, SAID i WISH
i would have cheered for the other.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Team, yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Yeah when you brought this, UP i had one immediately
immediately THAT i thought. OF i have always been A
Steph curry fan since the. BEGINNING i you, know he
was a. SHOOTER i was A. SHOOTER i was a
fan Of Stuph curry and The Splash, brothers AND i was, Like,
okay you, KNOW i can root for Another california. TEAM
i may as well root for Another california team aside
(08:52):
from The. Clippers AND i WISH i didn't pick The
warriors to be a team That i've root, for because since,
then The warriors have handed The clippers some elimination, games
some terrible. LOSSES i, Mean Kevin durant dropped fifty on
the playoffs against The clippers in an elimination. Game HAD
(09:15):
i known that The warriors were going to become this,
dynasty MAYBE i would not have cheered as much for
them AS i actually. Did AND i still root For Steph,
curry but like part of me is, like, MAN i
why why WAS i so for them? Winning because obviously
(09:36):
they have so many championships and The clippers can't even
get to, One and.
Speaker 5 (09:40):
It's just LIKE i hate.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
THAT i hate how MUCH i liked to The warriors weren't,
bad but they because they Weren't clippers. Bad AND i
don't think you'll take offense to that because like they're
synonymous with. It BUT i could see like at that
point where you're, Like, okay The warriors have been a
neat story a couple of. Times RUN tmc when they
upset The, mavericks you, Know Baron davis and that thing.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
Montelis like, harmless, harmless, correct, Correct.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
And then now you see, back you, know, yes back
to Back Kevin DURANT nba. Champions you look, Back you're,
LIKE i wish YOU i would have cheered for anybody
else at that.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Way anyone else at that, point because there have been
Direct they eliminated us in twenty, nineteen so it's just, like.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Man why DID I why DID i ever root for The?
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Warriors BUT i.
Speaker 6 (10:30):
DID i.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Did there there are a lot of. INSTANCES i love it,
too when you go into a game and you don't
have a dog in the, Fight, yeah and you just
kind of end up cheering for a, team you, know
you find your allegiance just naturally takes. Over you're, Like,
Okay i'm Just i'm gonna cheer for that. Team and
that happens at, times and because you don't have a
dog in the, fight you can end up changing it
down the line once history kind of plays. Out BUT
(10:53):
i think that we all have those. TIMES i have a.
Couple you, know in my, life we're gonna hear from
one a little bit. Later BUT i think everybody. Has
that doesn't change the. Outcome but you're just like you
thought at the, time like you just you're on the wrong.
Speaker 4 (11:07):
Side, YE i think that's the right. Word me cheering
for the warriors of the. TIME i thought it was,
harmless and then it turned.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Out it really.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Was.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Not here we, are, here we. Are let's go To
johnny And. Minnesota who's in on, This, Johnny welcome To
cavino and Rich who do you once cheer for in
your life that you look back and, SAY i wish you,
would wish it would have been, differently or wish cheered.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
FOR i cheered for The vikings all the, time but
once WHEN i was a young lad in the nineteen
ninety eight freaking, Division, OH i should have Picked. Atlanta
i'm not from oh, My i'm From North. Dakota Well
i'm From, minnesota BUT i grew up In North. Dakota
(11:51):
SO i kind, of, like you, know cheer for The.
Vikings but that would have been a perfect time to,
yeah crossover or whatever you.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Want to call. That when The falcons ended up upsetting
that Unstoppable vikings team With Randy, Moss Chris, Carter Jake,
Reed Randall cunningham is their. Quarterback Brian billick is the offensive.
Coordinator Danny green is the head, coach setting offensive records
left and. Right and he wanted to cheer for The
(12:22):
falcons because then he wouldn't have had his heart broken
When Gary anderson ends up missing the chip shot field
goal that would have sealed the deal like that in that, Case,
LIKE i get it because rather than, one The vikings
team was a fun team to cheer. For BUT i
would think that if you were cheering for The falcons
that day because you felt that The vikings were, unstoppable
kind of like HOW i looked at The, BILLS i
(12:44):
probably would have gone the other. Way LIKE i did
want to See minnesota in the Super. BOWL i wanted
to see A Vikings bronco Super. Bowl we ended up
not getting. That BUT i feel, that you, KNOW i
can SEE i could actually see it the other way
around from Where johnny. Was Ryan, berschinger our executive, producer
is there a team that you look back and you
wish that maybe you would have changed allegiance that you
didn't cheer for or maybe wish.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
That you would have cheered For it is a game
that you have Mentioned, dan Super bowl forty, Two rich
is The Patriots giants the Undefeated. PATRIOTS i wanted to
see the undefeated. SEASON i was rooting for history at
that and it would have been a whole lot more
(13:24):
fun to root for The giants in that game because
of just how tremendous of an underdog story it. Was of,
course The David tyree ketch and everything that went along
and happened in that game would have been a great.
Time and EVERYBODY i was with was rooting for The.
Giants BUT i couldn't help but be, like, MAN i don't,
KNOW i want to see an undefeated. SEASON i think
that would be.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Cool, yeah and, no, NO i do.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
WISH i had more fun watching that.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
One and The patriots had won Previous Super, bowls, right
so there is a little bit to. That but to see,
HISTORY i could understand. It but To bursu's, point there
were very few people that we were cheering for The
patriots at that point outside Of New, england and he
wanted to see. History isaac Lowing kron at The News,
desk this is.
Speaker 7 (14:06):
A great topic Because i've never heard anybody bring up
this question, before SO i really had to. THINK i
go back to the nineteen ninety Six World. Series it
was The Atlanta braves and The New York. Yankees it
was the first time that The yankees had been to
The World series since eighty. One The braves had won
The World series the year, before AND i remember rooting
(14:28):
for The yankees in That World SERIES i was in
high school because The braves were the favored. Team they
wound up taking the first two against The, yankees and
The yankees at that time were an, upstart underdog. Team
it Was jeter's rookie. Year Joe torre's brother wound up
getting a heart transplant during the, series his Brother. Frank
(14:51):
so they were a great little engine that could. Story
little did we know that they would turn into The Evil.
Empire SO i wish THAT i would have rooted for
The braves in that, series because in, HINDSIGHT i think
that The, braves with how good they were in the,
nineties deserved to win at least one More World series
(15:13):
in the nineties than the one they did in ninety.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
Five, yeah they were coming off of that, championship so
why would you want to cheer for back to. Back
And isaac AND i grew up in a. Time i'm
a little older Than, isaac but it's still the same
era Where isaac just gave you the time. Span The
yankees weren't good When covino was growing. Up he's From New.
York he's loving The, yankees he's Loving Don, mattingly but
they weren't Winning World. Series they weren't going to The
America League Championship. Series those things weren't, happening and so
(15:39):
you looked at The yankees a little different than how
The yankees are now. Viewed and now we've had enough
of their, championships an evil empire and everything that comes with.
It BUT i can totally See isaac's. Perspective, Iowa, sam
did you want in on?
Speaker 1 (15:52):
THIS i definitely remember in THE Afc CHAMPIONSHIP Afc championship
Game patriots versus The. CHIEFS i was definitely playing for
The chiefs in that. Game it was the baton being
passed from, one you, know dynasty to, Another AND i
thought of The chiefs at that time as like just
like they had been going to the playoffs every year pretty,
(16:13):
much even With Alex smith and they Had mahomes at,
quarterback and lo and, behold it would be the end
of The patriots sort of run and then the beginning
of A chief's evil, empire As isaac put.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
It, yet no one could have force seen that The
chiefs would have gone on this. Run but we were
all ready for The patriots one to. End, yes and
so in that, game, yeah The patriots escaped in. Overtime,
yeah and then the four of the off, sides, yes,
yes that was the. Game and then did The patriots
go on to play The? Rams?
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Right, okay so that was the thirteen to three their
Last Super. Bowl Then chiefs break through the next, year,
well they got and then it was Against Tom Brady's. Buccaneers, Right,
no that was against the forty nine. Ers and then
it was two Years, yes, yes of, course but so,
yes it would unleash a run of supremacy from The.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Chiefs let's go To dave In, Tempe. Arizona, Dave welcome
To Fox Sports. Radio what's going? On?
Speaker 8 (17:07):
Dave, hey, Guys Happy Friday.
Speaker 9 (17:09):
Friday so this isn't.
Speaker 8 (17:13):
One THAT i personally, have BUT i think it's out
there and it's. COMMON i think there are millions of
people out there who were cheering for the Plucky patriots
against the greatest show on turf and had no idea
what was. COMING i think there are a lot of
people who saw that underdog and loved him and grew
eventually to absolutely hate.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Him oh look at The patriots running out as a,
team you, know like they choose to be a team
all magnificent and again kind of like The giant. Story
Here Tom brady comes and takes over and takes over
for an Injured Drew bledsoe against the as he, said
greatest show on, turf The Saint Louis rams talking About
Super bowl thirty. Six, yeah When adam Vin terry made
(17:54):
that field, GOAL i was cheering for The patriots because
there was also The. Patriots we're also a laughing stock
in THE nfl for a. While Bill parcelles took them
to A Super bowl against The packers In Super bowl thirty,
one and then they were destroyed by The bears In
Super bowl twenty when they upset The dolphins of THE
Afc Championship. Game But New england didn't have a great
history of winning football up until that, point so then
(18:16):
they end up going to A Super bowl and they
have that story and The rams with all of their. Firepower,
YEAH i think that's a really good.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
NOMINATION i would have liked to see The rams win
Another Super bowl With Kurt, warner like he went on
only that, one one and two with The rams his,
quarterback and then one in three when he was The.
Cardinals BUT i would like to see another one because
THEY i Like Kurt warner a.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Lot.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
BIRCH i wanted to throw out another, one AND i
Think i'm sure there are plenty of people who. Agree
we all wanted to see a sixteen seed beat a
one seed the first time in the. TOURNAMENT i was
here when that. Happened virginia was the team THAT i
had winning it all in my, bracket AND i am
sitting in the edit room WATCHING umbc pull off what
(18:59):
is you, know at the, time the greatest upset in college,
basketball the incredible sixteen over. One it's it's, happening AND
i was. FURIOUS i couldn't enjoy it a race. SECOND
i was so mad and having to edit highlights of
this game And evan the producers being, like, hey come,
on you got to turn that around really. Quick i'm,
LIKE i, Know i'm doing. It it's my job and,
(19:20):
goodness and that Was. YEAH i WISH i could have
enjoyed that one for possible points remaining eight after that
and it's Only. Friday it's Only.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
FRIDAY i still there was a there Was there have
been a lot of upsets that we see in THE ncaa.
Tournament And Iowa state was a two seed one year
and they lost To hampton in the first round In.
Boise and it was the last game on A. Thursday
and The hampton coach, like they lift them up and
they kick his legs in the. Air not go Have
Iowa state winning it all Like. Bursted BUT i had
(19:50):
him in the final. Four every time that highlight, PLAYED
i was, like why DID i pick? UP i, stay, yes,
yes not THAT i even wanted the other. SIDE i
just didn't want to Pick Iowa. State john is In
West Palm, Beach. Florida all, right going back to the
to the eighties with some. Baseball, John welcome To Fox Sports.
Speaker 9 (20:09):
Radio hey, guys how you doing good?
Speaker 8 (20:13):
Afternoon?
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Right how are you?
Speaker 10 (20:15):
Hey so?
Speaker 9 (20:16):
Listen nineteen eighty. SIX i was the Hugest mets fan
in The New england area as a, kid AND i
was so glad when that ball went Through buckner's leg
as A mets man living In, boston screaming with all
my gear. On my old man almost threw me out
of the house at twelve years. Old and now Then
i'm the biggest die Had Red sox fan you ever.
(20:38):
Meet And i'm sitting there, going, DUDE i can't BELIEVE
i had to wait twenty years to see them go
to The World series. Again and every TIME i see
that bucking go through the, LEG i remember the NIGHT
i was jumping in my bedroom scream and that you,
know The mets were coming, back and it was All
(20:59):
and NOW i just REGRETTED i GOT i saw My
mets gia that my mother keeps still keep, SAYING i
told her to burn it last TIME i saw.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
It oh, man that is a, great great, story so
true as. Well as a, kid you have favorite teams
and then sometimes you all grow them and you just
go back to your hometown. Teams and there are teams
that are flash. Here and maybe he got reeled in
by The Dwight, Gooden Darryl strawberry flash of The, mets
(21:28):
even though he was In Red sox country and.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Upsetting his dad upsetting his dad while he's doing.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
It so good, Man, man great. Nominations let's go to one.
More Johnson, Florida john, Welcome Fox Sports radio And convino
And Rich hey j Good.
Speaker 10 (21:44):
SO i have one way back in the, DAY i
was born and raised In, california and it was WHEN
i didn't have a dog in the. Fight it was
When miami and The niners, played AND i went with The,
niners not knowing Poor Dan marino would never have another,
shot and then learning football and seeing what a quarterback he.
(22:05):
WAS i feel bad that that guy doesn't have a
Super bowl. Rank so that was the ONE i. Was,
YEAH i would have.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Loved to See san win that.
Speaker 9 (22:12):
Game.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
ABSOLUTELY i think a lot of people would. Agree, yes
you had thought that they were set up because they,
ALSO i, mean they were great as rookie. Year they
were actually knocked out by The seahawks in the playoffs
and the divisional. Playoffs but, yeah you go to The Super,
bowl you think it's always going to happen The niners
weren't The. Niners that win helped them kind of become The.
Niners and then they had their back to back wins
In Super bowl twenty three and twenty. Four but, yeah
(22:35):
at that, point Like montana, nine The niners were, great
but The dolphins And marino were on par with them
in terms of. Popularity the forty Nine ers had won
a few years earlier Against, cincinnati but they weren't The
Niners niners at that. Point and again you just think, that, oh,
yeah they're gonna make it. Back they're gonna make it back.
Again they'll get another. Opportunity, absolutely and even if you
(22:56):
get another opportunity like The, bills it doesn't guarantee that
you're gonna. Win, Yeah, yes that's. Rough james tweets In
Chiefs fan cheered for The broncos to win The Super
bowl So elway could. Retire that's what he. Wanted so
he cheered for The broncos In Super bowl thirty three
against The. Falcons they ended up going back to back,
(23:17):
then he, says only for them to hire THE gm
and Get Peyton manning and win Another Super. Bowl, yeah sometimes.
Burns great, NOMINEES i got another one coming. Up on

to go along with his eight strikeouts on. The mound
congratulations To Show Heyo tani Otani Our express pro pro Of.
The week the topic that we've started the show with
is the team you look back and wish you at
didn't cheer, for you wish you cheered for the. Other
(26:02):
team for a variety, of reasons we've gotten some. Great
nominees it started OUT because i, LOOK back i was
cheering For the Giants In super bowl twenty five and
even Though the, BILL'S lost i should have been cheering
For the bills. That game it was the best opportunity
they had to win A. Super BOWL this, NFL season
i think there are gonna be a lot of people
cheering For the bills to finally Get That super, bowl
ring to get over that hump after losing IN A
(26:24):
afc championship game again like they did To. The chiefs
so that's what we're talking. About here bill Is. In
indiana i've been giving a heads up ON where I
think bill, is GOING and i think he's got a.
Great nominee but we'll all find. Out, Together bill Welcome
to Coveno and rich Here On Fox. Sports.
Speaker 9 (26:41):
Radio, THANKS yeah i didn't have a dog in, the
fight but When the cubs finally Broke Their world, SERIES
street i was cheering for him.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
To, do it AND now I wish.
Speaker 9 (26:51):
I hadn't, you know the all. The correlations they, would say,
you know this guy was president the last time they
Won A.
Speaker 10 (26:56):
World series that's all, Gone.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Now yes. It disappeared he did not go To the
CUBS that. I thought i look BACK at o Three, And,
BARTMAN ah, I see i Wanted the cubs to win
that game because of, the drought and Plus the marlins
had just won six. Years earlier and it's NOT that
i Wanted the marlins now, to win it's Just the
(27:19):
cubs winning now makes me, think, like well if they
would have had one thirteen, years later at least they
got To The, world series like that would have, you
know that kind of. Erased EVERYTHING so i looked BACK
and i wasn't Mad, at BARTMAN but i Wanted the
cubs to win that series Against. The, marlins yeah AND
now i look back AND wish i had it the other.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
Way again marlins at that both Of Their world series
they didn't. Even try they just. Got there and then
they got rid of the team after because the owner,
WAS like i wasn't trying to.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Do this it's the way they. Do things it's the
way they. Do It jim leland the, First time jack
McKeon some time right.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
After, bike, no, NO no i don't want to. Pay anybody
this is not what we were.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
Going for it was so two thousand and three was a.
Little different in nineteen, NINETY seven I Remember, Juan, pierre
yeah it was part Of That marlin, stemuno Three But
josh beckett was the was. The hero there is another
GAME that i look, Back at monzi in. Fantasy football
when you're playing and you lose a one, point game.
Yeah stinks WELL what i try to tell myself, is,
(28:19):
like well as LONG as i make, the playoffs maybe
that will help Me and i'll be put into a
different portion of the bracket Where maybe i'll get to
face a, bad team so this loss. Won't hurt like
THAT'S how i. Rationalize it but in nineteen, ninety seven
there was a play in college football that at THE
time i, was very very mad At Because ohio state
was in the thick of it for a national. Championship
(28:40):
run so anybody that COULD lose i wanted, to lose
and that Includes The. Nebraska cornhuskers They played missouri in
nineteen ninety seven and this. Play happened they're.
Speaker 6 (28:52):
Down cross to, The.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Middle nebraska The deflection nebraska is a point away from
time to.
Speaker 8 (29:04):
The game.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
The deflection is cut and they called it the flee
kicker because of the deflections that ended up being caught
On The scott frost Pass By scott davison and the.
End Zone so nebraska ends up winning It Or, matt davison,
excuse me in the, end zone they make the, extra
point they. Tie it they end Up beating, missourian Overtime and, i'm,
like oh there would have been another opportunity for a
(29:28):
top college football team. To lose but in, the End
because nebraska stayed on their route to a, national championship
they Only allowed michigan to get co a. National Championship
so michigan had to split the national Championship, with nebraska
who at the time of the game again was number
one in. The, country ultimately that was great for me
(29:48):
As An ohio state fan Because the michigan couldn't have
the national championship. To themselves but at, THE time I
remember i was so mad that they caught it And
that nebraska, Somehow survived AND then i look back on it, and, say,
okay good at least at least They kept michigan from
getting a full share of that. National TITLE when I
hear i know you are.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Like two, years, old right AND when i hear about
winning a piece of the, NATIONAL title i can't believe
that was like.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
A thing i can't believe THAT was, I know, I know.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
I can't i don't know, how you as a fan
would be okay, With that like that would be SOMETHING
that i could not want to share or.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
Get over you want to KNOW what i can't get
OVER is i remember that play clear as day and
that call was COURTESY of abc in nineteen. Ninety seven
it sounds like it was from nineteen. Thirty two you can.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
Tell Is brent musburger on the call and it was. Very, fuzzy, yes,
yes yes.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Somebody took it off OF their, vcr yeah and got
it FROM a vhs tape and then put it up.
On YouTube that's why it sounds. So poorly oh, That's, memories,
yes memories absolutely. Distant memories, great. NOMINEES everybody i love bursches,
as well just because it is very true when you
have picks or when you do have your. Dog, ruins
(31:02):
yes and he was unable to enjoy one of the
greatest moments in college basketball history because of His, bracket
oh nothing like seeing six red dashes like On your
way eliminated Brutal on day one Of the ron one
(31:23):
OF The, Ncaa Tournaments.
Speaker 6 (31:25):

second plus we're gonna wrap up the week by playing
a little in The Neighborhood Teams mancy Belaios and isaac
Clah and kron team Up Against ryan Berschinger And iowa

Or so Welcome in It Is Fox. Sports radio for over,
(32:16):
Forty years tirek has been helping customers find the right tires,

the way tire buying. Should be so As This tom
brady statue is about to, be unveiled everybody's getting Together.
In Foxborough, mike Rabel the patriots, Head coach brady's former
(32:40):
teammate With, the patriots is. On hand even some members
Of the commanders who had Played with brady in their
career just saw a video of them showing up to.
The festivities do you have any guests On What tom
brady's statue would look like Outside Of? Gillette? Stadium.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
Hm my my initial thought is it's gonna, BE pretty
i want, to, say, boring.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Okay, you know simple like dropping back.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
To, pass yes maybe just holding a slightly, deflated ball,
you know like just just not not not much he did,
YOU know. I don't i don't see IT being i don't.
See it did he like dive Over the ravens IN a?
Afc game maybe, like early like, two thousand maybe? Like
eleven is my tripping on that that he like jumped over.
Speaker 3 (33:38):
The when you're. The touchdown it's probably not going to
be the statue like if you're not sure, of IT
like i think it's gotta be.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
A because i don't think he has moments. Like that
it's all just standing, and passing, YOU know I don't
i don't have a. BIG moment i remember when he
was drunk After The tampa bay game Or The super
Bowl Club. TAMPA ba i don't think he's gonna be
drunk in. The STATUE so i just think it's gonna.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Probably wouldn't put that Outside. The patriots That's what.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
I'm saying you Know what.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
I'm saying, YOU know i. Get you i'm right there.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
With you, Imagine, him Yeah Looking.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
Ryan Berschinger. Iowa sam Any Nominations isaac lohankron that you
guys want to throw out There? Of sam did you?
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Have one It's A tom brady sitting on the sideline on,
the bench and he's getting stiffed for the. High five
that's what it's, gonna be waiting, for it waiting. For
it he'll be waiting for it, for perpetuity, all right.
UH burs i don't.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
Know if if there's a direct image that they can
base us, off OF but i think it Will be
tom snapping a cell phone.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
In half. Nice, height yes keeping. It, away yes you're
not gonna see. My Phone. Isaac loan crown's gears. Are
churning you, KNOW how i know because his tongues in.
His cheek, he's like what we?
Speaker 7 (34:56):
Got Here What michael jordan had the tongue outside? The
cheek mine is in. The cheek all my best choices
OR stuff i just cannot say on.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
The Radio so.
Speaker 7 (35:06):
I'm, Gonna go goodie two shoes him throwing a football
in one hand and holding Up a lombardi trophy and oh.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
That's good that. Is, good yeah you KNOW what i
think it's going. To Be and. I'M serious i think
it's gonna be his let's, go pose you know when
he's like let's go you know, with that with that,
you know like mean face that he would always go
to the crowd and run. TO yep i feel that
That's very. BRADY esque i think that there are there
(35:33):
are points in his career you could have the IMAGES
that i remember him when they won That First. Super
bowl we talked about that a little bit earlier in,
the show hands on his head like you Know what. I'm,
talking yeah we Brought that. Apientes, ago YEAH but I
think i think the let's go portion of it would
be a really one because it shows. His intensity it's
(35:53):
also a connection with the fans because that's who he
would yell, it to in addition to. His teammate but
we're gonna we're gonna. FIND out i don't know if
we're gonna. Find out kickoff is at Seven thirty, eastern
times so we're less than ninety, minutes away so it's
got to be wrapped up. By then when we see,
this trophy we've gotta we got to get an update
(36:14):
on what the. Actual trophies i'm monitoring it right.
Speaker 7 (36:18):
Right now they're going to unveil it in the next.
Few moments they're playing a tribute video, right.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Now, all, Right perfect so then we could have the
we'll have the breaking news probably within this segment of
what the Statue Of tom brady is going. To be
you think of The Different super bowl wins In With,
new england there were six. OF them i mentioned the
one of hands on, his head but him throwing a
touchdown pass Against the panthers and winning it or Against
the eagles the next year is. No, different obviously when
(36:46):
they Beat, The Seahawks tom brady was a part of.
The comeback we all Remember The malcolm butler interception at the,
goal line But the patriots were down ten in the
fourth quarter in, that game and they ended up scoring
two touchdowns to take, the lead which ultimately ended up
allowing them to Win That. Super bowl but you've, got
that you got to Comeback. Against ATLANTA but i feel
(37:06):
that there were more plays that were made By Like, julian,
edelman right you know in. That, one yeah so it'll.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
Be interesting there's not like An, iconic yeah you're.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Right there it was gonna be a little.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
Bit boring he's just going to be standing.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
There with THEM all, I was, I was i was
picking on. You EARLIER but i think your point is
is correct in that saying of trying, to like, you
know and just trying to decipher of which one you
could actually.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
Use it but in, a statue, you, know, YEAH yes.
Speaker 3 (37:33):
I mean there are a lot of but even just
you could have a generic him dropping back. The PAST
but i think the let's, go on it's going to
be a.
Speaker 4 (37:39):
Good one that would. Be GOOD but i think it's
going to be a generic drop just.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
Drop back manzi's eyes are going to Be On dodger,
stadium Tonight As max schurz are In The blue Jays
Face clayton kershaw And, the dodgers just the second time
that these two generational players have, met crazy crazy considering
they did so earlier in their career replacement starters for what,
You Said randy Johnson And greg mannicks and now they're
(38:05):
wrapping it. Up tonight other eyes will Be in milwaukee
Or the Brewers and. Mets play i'm Sure which davis's
eyes will be on. That one brewers the best team
in baseball, right now right, Now Nobody and i'll tell
you somebody who definitely wouldn't have thought, Of It. Craig
council and so when we talk about this series or this,
(38:27):
THIS season i should say Of Major, League baseball toronto's
The Aforementioned blue jay's playing. Great baseball dodgers not so
much as, of late but there's a possibility they could
meet In The. World series and one of the teams
that could try to Stop the dodgers Is The. Milwaukee brewers,
right now the best team in baseball seventy wins on.
The season but it's. So funny monci on How the
(38:50):
brewers came to be at this point Because the brewers
had BEEN a i think they've been looked at as
an overachiever in terms of what they are as, a
franchise what, they spend in who, They are And So
craig council ends up leaving and going to The Rival,
chicago cubs which did not sit well with Many a.
(39:13):
Brewers fans that's. Your rival you could have gone, any
team and he ended up going To. The cubs this
was also a team that ended up not Bringing Back,
corbyn burns and there was a little bit of dysfunction
at the end of That because burns wasn't necessarily happy
with the contracts that were provided in and out after
Going to baltimore and Then. To arizona it's now out for,
(39:36):
the year so There's No. Corbyn burns brewers Are Beating
craig council In the cubs and the standings, right now
and even the team they. Played Tonight david stearns is
Running the mets front Office And david stearns Ran the
brewers front office for. A while there were always Rumors
That david stearns was the apple of the eye of
so many other Teams Around Major league baseball to have
him be brought to their organization and take him Away
(39:57):
from milwaukee ended up. Stepping Aside matt arnold is. Taking
control But the brewers have just kept. On brewering And
as Cavino and rich we'll talk About the Mets, and
yankees You'll hear cavino Complain About. Devin, Williams right so
he's A Former, milwaukee brewer and he's having a tougher
time now as a member Of the yankees than he
(40:19):
ever Did. In milwaukee and so all these these pieces
end up leaving and, going elsewhere and Here the brewers
are playing some of the best base playing the best
baseball right now of anybody record wise in the. Big
leagues and it just goes. TO show i think it's a,
big LESSON and i think there have been other times
we've seen this, in sports where, you know the grass isn't.
(40:40):
Always greener it hardly?
Speaker 4 (40:42):
Ever is it hardly.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
Ever is and when you think Of the brewers using
something as motivation that only lasts for, so long like
that Can only it's like when a team comes out
of the tunnel and they're all excited for the first
ten minutes of. The game the crowd's into it. Doesn't
last the three hours of a foot last. Early on
if you can navigate that, first wave you should be.
All Right brewers fans Can Hate craig council till the
(41:07):
cows come home for what. He did that doesn't affect.
The clubhouse maybe there's a little something extra whenever they Face,
the cubs but there always. Should BE but i think
it's a lesson and it's maybe not, to everybody but,
you know Someone Like craig council, is, LIKE well i,
go there get, more money paid, a lot AND maybe
i just feel that their future is better that that's
not necessarily. The CASE and i think that when it
(41:28):
comes to, playoff time no offense To, your dodgers but
we talked about wanting to cheer for teams and not
wanting to cheer. FOR teams i don't think a lot
of people are going to be wanting to See the dodgers.
Win again they'll love To, watch OTANI but i don't
know if they'll want to see back. To BACK and
i Think the brewers are the type of team that
people will jump on board and want a. Cheer for
and when you look at the backstory of all of
what they had and not what they are achieving without.
(41:50):
THOSE pieces i think it's a pretty. Amazing story you.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
Were so on.
Speaker 4 (41:52):
THE money i DO think i agreed with you yesterday
when YOU said i think it. Was auster you mentioned
that people Rooting for otani is not necessarily that they're
rooting For. The dodgers BUT what i immediately think of
where the grass is not. ALWAYS greener i go back to,
twenty nineteen and we're going to tie this all Together
When bryce harper Leaves the nationals to sign a thirteen
year deal With The. Philadelphia phillies, THIRTEEN years, i think
(42:13):
is what. He signed and then who Wins The world
series in, Twenty Nineteen.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
Max schurzer And.
Speaker 4 (42:20):
The nationals the grass is not always greener. THAT year
i remember When the dodgers lost To. The nationals do you, remember?
THAT right i, WAS like i can't believe we're losing To.
The nationals and then When the nationals Won The, WORLD
series i, was, like, well okay at least. Say won
and it's kind of like the similar SITUATION where i
think people were rooting For the nationals at that point
once they Eliminated.
Speaker 3 (42:40):
THE dodgers i Think the brewers would.
Speaker 4 (42:42):
Get a fan base That's not milwaukee, fan base sure
rooting for them because they weren't supposed.
Speaker 6 (42:50):
To be here and here.
Speaker 3 (42:50):
They are and when you Have the Mets and phillies
also expected to make, the, postseason right big, Market teams
cobbs big, Market team dodgers, defending champs big. Market team
there's not a lot of room for the underdog In The.
National league padres, you know likely there. As well So
the brewers kind of stick out as a. Sore thumb
they're just sticking out as the best team in baseball
(43:12):
right now and possibly the number. One seed you KNOW
where I Think govin we don't go that, far back
But It's. Paul george, oh Yeah With oklahoma city and
them winning it. This year of how Much Was paul
george talked about as part of that deal to go To.
Speaker 4 (43:24):
The, CLIPPERS sorry, i KNOW and i wish he would
have just never came To the clippers at, this point
EVEN though i was all for it at. The, Time
Yes paul george is a. Perfect example and if we stay,
in basketball Think About. Kyrie Irving kyrie irving Was, in,
cleveland unhappy Goes, to, boston unhappy Goes to, brooklyn unhappy
and now He's in dallas And in cleveland he had,
(43:46):
just won, and yeah like it's not, always greener it's
not it.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
Just you look at and it's it's not always. Championships,
either No but milwaukee right now and showing what they
have done if, just yeah a lot of pieces of
and you can use it, as fuel but you can
only do it for. So LONG and i think it's
more about the parties. Who left that may be the
unfortunate thing With The paul george thing Because.
Speaker 4 (44:14):
And paul sga was also traded out in that for.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
The glories SO what i was gonna say was This
Was paul george when he Was in indiana had. Wanted.
Out yeah so when they end up making the trade
with him to, the, thunder like, there's like, all, right
haha he Goes To oklahoma city the trade then to
send him To. The Clippers Wasn't paul george, SAYING like
i want to go To. The clippers but he never
(44:37):
shook the label of being a selfish player because, Of
THAT and i feel that people Looked At craig counsel, and,
felt man what a selfish move that, was yeah you're
going To. The, cubs, like again you could have gone
to any of the other twenty, nine teams but the
one that you chose of the twenty nine is the
biggest rival just down the road in. Our DIVISION that
(44:57):
i think that felt like a, selfish MOVE and i
Think When paul george Was with indiana it felt like a.
Selfish move but he never was able to ditch the
reputation because, Of that so then when he, was traded
he ends up BEING this i don't want to say,
innocent bystander but he's a part of the deal that
was so massive that Set Up oklahoma city for this
championship that he was A victim manzi because what he had,
(45:18):
done previously not for what he had done when he
was with a thunder. M hmm there's, just yeah there
are interesting cases, throughout SPORTS and i just think That
the brewers are one. Of them and we're coming off
the heels OF An nba finals where here we were
talking a Lot About.
Speaker 4 (45:33):
Paul George the brewer's, also right you can't plan, for,
This RIGHT like i also Think the Brewers With jacob
mazerowski also have that side, of it like they have a,
young star like it seems like everything is kind of
falling into place without them realizing it was going to fall.
Speaker 3 (45:49):
Into place, so, soon yes. So Soon and i'll, say
this Like the brewers pitching staff is, very good but
they in a day and age where we're valuing less
and less, starting pitching they value it and it's been
of value. For them so that would also be something
that maybe someone would latch onto instead of just not
(46:12):
to bring Up the, dodgers again but. Bullpen game let's just,
you know this is what, we've, Got right there's there's
more of that Feel. With milwaukee but it happens all.
Over sports you leave somewhere you think it's going to.
BE better I Mean tyreek hill was telling Us that
tua was Better Than. Patrick mahomes he got, More money
you got. More money that's a great.
Speaker 4 (46:30):
One too just.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
Win Tag oh volley'll Thank you. President again one of
our Nominees for athlete Of the year of twenty, twenty
five seven months, in president was with us. Last week
who is another nominee that we had from from last? Week, show,
hey okay, all right, all Right She's. Batzi Volanas I'm
