Speaker 1 (00:25):
I see people saying if BAC puts up big numbers
and has a big game, he's an MVP contention. I
don't know about that, but it's gonna be exciting.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Man.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Plus, we got some basketball, some NBA Super Bowl odds.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
I know you want to talk that, Rich, There's a.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Team that's being so disrespected and I take personal offense
to it. So we're gonna get to a bunch of NFL.
We're gonna get to NBA. Yes, old school in fifty hits,
Oh yes, we always throw it back. On a Thursday.
Let's just say this, it's a hip hop Legends birthday.
And this hip hop legend started out as a sidekicked somebody.

(01:01):
So we're gonna start talking about the greatest sidekicks, like
sidekicks that turn superstar.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Start thinking about them.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
And by the way, we're streaming live, you could watch
what you hear at Covino and Rich FSR.

All right, so we can call some names. So join
us Covino and Rich FSR on YouTube and let.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
The wild Rumpist start.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
The hot topic we're gonna get to for sure today
is the ever changing work life balance when it comes
to babies being born and the skip work for family stuff.
We're gonna get to that in a second. But I
just saw something on the walk in here. I do
strut down the hallway. I got brutused to bubber Beefcick.

(01:46):
He does his Vince McMahon strut. I do my cottovercgregor.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Hey, going in the studio.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
You know, can we just say for years, Rich and
I've been working together for twenty years, twenty plus years,
not to date ourselves.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Yeah, we're still the youngest in the game right out
of college.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Yeah yeah, yeah, we're like twelve.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
When we started the show, we had something called the
power strut, and every day we did this just to
make sure the bosses saw us like, hey, let's just
do a power struck. We got at the PS power
struck just to show face. I'm here, Hey, we're bringing
the vibe. We're here. We do a little point, little
shooting McGavin at the boss. Hey, And honestly, I think
little things like that do help. Do a power struck.

(02:25):
Right now, I'm like, what are you trying to blend in?
Why are you showing up if you're not going to
make an impact or at least pretend that you have
some sort of presence, right, do a power struck. Sutting
where they're fishing riches heels, I'm doing a little brutis
de barbar beefcakes. Even if you're just walking to the batrel,
walk by the boss's office, like you got some authority,

(02:47):
like you got some presents, some confidence about you. I
walked by, I'm like, Yo, damn byer, what's up? Power
struck strut? Alright, but anyway, I'm doing the strut. Yeah,
And I see a stat on TV. And before we
get to baby babies being born in NBA and Super
Bowl and all this crap.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Tonight's game.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
I've talked about how this week there's six games that
are of playoff magnitude. And I'm standing by that statement.
There's six games that are of playoff caliber. I really
do feel that, and it starts tonight with the Lions
hosting the Cowboys. Were coming off a week where both
of those teams had record breaking Thanksgiving numbers. The most

(03:30):
watched regular season game ever was that Cowboys Chiefs game.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Like when Dan Byer dropped that fun fact, I couldn't
believe it, man? Was it?

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Fifty seven million almost sixty million people? That's like the
finale of Friends in Seinfelm. That's like those like members
in today's world with all the distractions we have, over
saturation of social media and things to watch and streaming services.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
The fact that that many people were tuned in it
says a lot.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Man.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
So these games are huge in tonight's game.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Man.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
By the way, no one someone said this to me yesterday.
I'm such an idiot because you didn't point it out either.
You realize that on Thanksgiving Day Cowboys Chiefs was really
like Cowboys versus Indians. Yes, Dawn, dummy like yesterday, No,
I didn't think about it. Didn't think about it anyway.
So football's popping tonight Cowboys at the Lions. Get this,

(04:24):
the Cowboys chances of making the postseason, there's six, five
and one. They're one of the hottest teams in the
league now because they feel like they got some type
of momentum and like mc hammer in the nineties, bro
gaining momentum. Oh, Danny G started dancing. When you're saying
that Danny G doing the oh oh oh Dan momento,
the Cowboys are gaining momentum. There's a vibe that the

(04:45):
Cowboys aren't some mediocre team anymore. Like there's a vibe
that if the season started over like they finally he's
happening now, you know what the buzz is. I was
listening to Dan Patrick this morning. Hi, DP, What up?

Speaker 2 (05:01):
DP?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
We'll be filling in for DP around the holidays for sure.
Shout out to the Dan Patrick listeners. A lot to
talk about Jerry Jones was right maybe and deserves an apology.
There's a suggestion from a caller that Dan should make
a shirt that says Jerry Jones is right or was
right something along those lines. Because when that Micah Parsons

(05:22):
thing happened, even you and I are like stick a
forking them yep, stick a forking them.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
They're over. And it turns out that some of those
moves worked out.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Well based on I told you the magnitude of some
of these games, and we still got four five weeks
of the NFL. Danny g the odds of the Cowboys
making the postseason with a win tonight is thirty five percent. Essentially,
if they lose tonight, eight percent. So we're talking about,

(05:50):
you know, two teams that are going to be fighting
for that final seventh seed. Ye mind who to lose?
Is this is safe bet out? Because if the cow
Boys lose, then they're too far behind the wild card
and the Eagles, who are that's a reasonable argument that
they could catch the Eagles who are playing a little
cold right now. But if they lose tonight, you're six

(06:10):
six and one called a day. But if you're seven
to five and one, it's a different story.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
There's a crazy stat here back to what Covino was
saying about some of the moves Jerry has made. Jerah.
The Cowboys rushing yards per game allowed this season before
the Quinn Williams trade one hundred and forty three yards,
twenty eighth in the worst in the league. Post Quinn
Williams trade forty five yards a game, first in the NFL. Damn.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Like Ian Visselia said, here we go Cowboys. Wes hit
us up saying Jerry Jones hasn't been right since the nineties,
so this is shocking. Well, I clearly distinctly even on
our show, saying, you know, dude, what a way to
start the season. You get rid of your star player.
This season's over before it began. And to have this

(06:58):
sort of success that is pretty remarkab. So you got
to give credit where it's due. I'm not saying it's
all Jerry Jones, but teams stepped up. Dak's playing big body.
Cowboys are pretty decent because well you always knew that.
The offense is pretty good, the defense is stepping up,
and but to them, there's a big button. You love
big butts. I love big butts, and you cannot lie.

(07:18):
What's the big butt? The big butt is you lose tonight,
that momentum is over because you're six six and one.
But you go into Detroit you win. You're seven five
and one. But not only that, it's just another win
and more momentum. You went into Detroit and you essentially
told the Lions your little window is closed. When you
talk about those little windows of a team making a championship.

(07:40):
When you look around the NFL, you could argue that
they could always not re not rebuild, they could revamp
around the likes of a healthy Lamar or Josh Allen.
But you can maybe argue that based on what you're
seeing now, Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs ruined the best windows

(08:03):
for the Bills and Ravens because you would think if
the Chiefs are struggling now, Bills and Ravens now because
they're going through their struggles too. So you got little windows.
And we talk about that all the time in the NFL,
and the Lions are number one on the list of
suspects as far as did their window close? And if
they lose tonight, bro, you ain't telling me a seven

(08:25):
and six team in the Lions is gonna somehow find
a way to make the Postseas. So huge implications. Week fourteen,
Thursday Night Football. What a way to start the week.
So we're gonna be heading to the company holiday party
and we're gonna have our eyes glued on what's going
on in the game.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
So it's gonna be fun.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Even though we're gonna be rolling up as it ends,
we got reason to stay and hang for a.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Little while, right, Yeah, when we get there, there's gonna
be chicken bones yeah on the table, Bob Parker ate
all the food. Yeah, and h Raffle tickets on the floor.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
We're gonna miss all the fun, but the game will
be on. So hey, you are rich. You got me
extra prompt even though we've been hyping on it. Now
Cowboys win, right, their percentage of playoff hopes goes up.
I was, Samuel, you are high or low on the Lions,
the idea like yesterday you picked the Lions?

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Right?

Speaker 2 (09:13):
You on our little for this game, I picked the Lions.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Yeah, even if the Lions win, they remember we talked
about six losses might be the limit because eleven and
six teams that seems like a playoff lock ten and
seven is very questionable in a competitive NFC. Right, the Niners,
the Seahawks, the Rams. We could argue that all three
of those teams likely to make the postseason, right, forty

(09:39):
nine ers they win against the Titans in two weeks,
they're ten and four, which means the Niners would have
to win one more game and they're eleven and six
at worst, so you can't you can't lose more than six.
So if the Lions lose tonight, they're seven and six,
which would mean they'd have to win the remainder of
their games and the remainder of their games the Rams,

(10:01):
the Steelers, the Bears, and a division matchup against the Vikings,
which is no shoeing because the Vikings beat them a
couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Dude, So the Vikings are mess though.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
I know, but I'm saying that they did beat the
Lions a couple of weeks ago. Point is, if anything, Cowboys,
I don't think the pressure is on because we sort
of gave up on them and that were like, oh wow, Cowboys.
The Lions and Dan Campbell, they got to be feeling
the pressure tonight at home in Detroit, coming off a
loss when M and M and Jack White couldn't even

(10:32):
set the vibe for You'll say, that's that's where it
really starts going downhill, like you can't win that game.
You had to win that game, and arguably if you
would have won that game, because if you look at
the Lions, if you look at the Lions buddy boy,
they won halftime show.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
That's what they want.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
They were, he was.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
So they lost to the Packers on Thanksgiving Day, we
know that the week before we forget that they should
have lost to Jameis Winston and the Giants. And the
Giants so gave that to them, right. That was the
game where you're like, honestly, there's just not the Lions.
And I'm not surprised if the Cowboys win convincingly tonight.
The week before that, they didn't even put up with
a double digit offensive performance crime nine to the Eagles,

(11:10):
Ritchy Dicky Davis, what's a bigger surprise the Lions win
convincingly or the Cowboys win convincingly? What's more based on
the way they've played? If the Lion I'd be surprised
if the Lions won tonight. If you told me a
month ago, I would have been like, Dude, that little window,
that little hobbit I always picture like a little hobbit window,
like a little cottage hobbit window that a windows closed.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
It's already closing for the Lions.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Remember how bipolar this season has been.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yeah, most of the weeks, Danny g I swear I'm
on the edge of my seat, biting my tongue, trying
not to say the most cliche thing we've said all season.
It's really any one season more than ever before. I
really fight from trying to say that every show because
it's over and over again we're repeating that, but that
feeling is in the air. It's anyone's season, dude, it's anyone's.

(11:59):
And we'll see tonight who's got it, because whoever loses,
I agree with you, Riches, if you think the Lions
have collapsed, then make some easy cash tonight.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
I'm not a gambling field I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
I'm saying the collective you then, because they are three
and a half point favorites at home, so even if
they win by a field goal, the Cowboys would still cover.
So if you think the Cowboys got this money line,
or take the three and a half points, take that
hook of a half a point. This might be one
of those games we look back and say, how why
didn't I bet on this pivotal game? For sure moving forward,

(12:33):
So just something to look forward to. Tonight, guys, we'll
be boozing and schmoozing at the company party, pumped to
watch this game, and man, we needed a sweet game.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
On a random Thursday.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Kay Rain said, I mean the goal is for the
Cowboys to make the playoffs, just to watch them lose
and laugh.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
That's what people love to do.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
But in reality, if they keep moving upward, that's the
thing I keep looking at this season in these teams
like Stocks, the Lions are going down, They've been going down.
Cowboys have gone up and up at like the Bears.
Certain teams up and up and up. Cowboys are looking good, man,
So why can't they go even further this year?

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Anthony is not like some other team is that.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Dominant where it would be unbelievable for the Cowboys to
keep moving forward. Anthony and Vegas hit us up and said, guys,
the cowboy crying memes are priceless. So perhaps a couple
wins and the left that like, I think some people are.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Saying it's a big setup for a big light.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
That's it sounds mean, But there any other season I
would say, yeah, exactly, but this season picture that anything's possible.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Man.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
So your thoughts, your calls eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox, or
at Covino and Rich at Fox Sports Radio but like
I said, the chat is popping on the YouTube page
Coveno and rich FSR, So I'm hyped about it. I'm
pumped free food, booze, and NFL Week fourteen begins to

(13:57):
be on a really big game.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
I reluctantly played softball last night.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Yeah, because out here in LA it never stops because
the weather's mild enough. But during this time of the year,
even I who love to be active and get out there,
I like reluctantly went to play. But I got to
see all my buds that I played softball with, and
I gave them the Rando games I gave you guys yesterday,
and those six games, everyone was all over the place.
I'm like, all right, guys, Raven Steelers. It says split

(14:24):
down the middle, I said, Yo, Chiefs, Texans. Everyone Yo Chiefs. No, No, no, dude, Texans.
Like it was split down the middle like a pair
of cheeks. It like there is no one feeling really
strongly about any of these games. If I told you,
Danny g the one that I feel like people were
arguing about the most. Last night, when I was talking
to some buds, I was like, all guys, Packer's hosting

(14:45):
the Bears. Some of my buddies are like, dude, Bears
are for real. They're gonna whoop their ass. And the
other people, like you think Caleb Williams is going to
go into Lambo and win like it is.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
It's a it's myself.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
It's fifty to fifty and we haven't had this many
fifty to fifty type games late in a season in
a long time.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
I mean, the Bears are a touchdown underdog though.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
That's just telling, right Dan Bayer, I mean, I know
he's more of a Camino guy, but but dat you
could agree with me that there is a very playoff
atmosphere this week because of the matchups right.

Speaker 6 (15:15):
Yeah, by the way, not so much after yesterday's baseball
a debacle, but.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
We'll get to that later.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
No, it's the uh, it's a great, great week and
the Bears are a team that it isn't Caleb Williams.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
And I think that's the thought.

Speaker 6 (15:29):
Like this running game now with DeAndre Swift and Kalman
on guy like that is something that the Bears can
really hang their hat on. You go to Lambeau and
you win that game. I mean that's a that's a
statement not to the rest of the NFC North, but
to the entire NFL that this team is for real
and I feel that there's about three or four games.
It's funny, Rich when you did your your countdown of games,

(15:51):
we didn't even mention Bengals Bills.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Which has implications because there's a lot of people. There's
a fun social media part of it. There's a fun
social media sent yeah, that the Ravens and Steelers are
struggling to the point where if you look at the
weak ass schedule that the Bengals have that if they
somehow beat the Bills, there are people that think they
could run the table and win that division at nine
and eight.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Yes, it's and it's there for.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Them because the schedule is so favorable towards the Bengals.
So this Bills Bengals game has magnitude as well.

Speaker 3 (16:22):
That's why the Bengals went on. Thanksgiving was so important.

Speaker 6 (16:25):
That's why the Steelers faltering as of late, because honestly,
with the Steelers and Ravens playing twice here in this
late part of the season, it actually made it really.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
More difficult for the Bengals.

Speaker 6 (16:36):
But to get Burrow back and win that game, and
imagine if they would have beaten the Patriots the week
before where Joe Flacco threw a pick six. That was
the game we thought Joe Burrow was maybe going to
come back for.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
There's got to be a part of Joe Burrow that
looks at his teammates and he's like, guys, really fo Night,
Yeah right serious, you could have, like Lee, you couldn't.
You couldn't be with game. You could have welcomed me
back at five hundred or something. That was the goal
right now that remember before, who's the backup?

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Was it Browning?

Speaker 5 (17:02):
Right?

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Yeah, yep, Jake brown Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:04):
We were like, all right, maybe he could keep them
afloat until Burrow comes back.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
And that just went sideways quick. He got hurt and
then flock us up.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
It's it's interesting to think that a four and eight
team could run the table because there's no faith in
Aaron Rodgers and Mike Tomlin, and there's no faith that
Lamar's really that healthy, and Derrick Henry seems pedestrian at best.
This year I had him on my Gayoteine fantasy league
and every week I'm like forty six yards and like
no touchdowns.

Speaker 6 (17:32):
Just not as explosive. Lamar not being able to run
is such a big deal. And that's the thing is
they may still get in Derrick Henry may still get
some numbers, may get into the end zone, but they're
not nearly as explosive as an offense as they had
been in previous year.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Yeah, keep wondering is it an off year or is
that just where they're at in their career at this
point because of all the wear and tear.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
Such a good question.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Yeah, yeah, I wonder if there's a comeback. And I
keep waiting for them to explode as the great I'm sorry,
great announcements.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Oh thank you.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
Yeah, like I said at the best point of that,
I appreciate that. Now, well, hold on.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
I just want to read the intro chat Mark Morgan
just said, I'll dan byer go Hawks, all right, Mark,
And then Mark went out to say, how could you
ever be a Cavino guy?

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Why not?

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Thank you? All right, thank you.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
I want you guys to start thinking about this. There's
two stories that have to deal with the work and
family dynamic. And I'll just say Luca's out, Draymond's in,
and it all involves the birth of a child. So
start thinking about the work life balance. And we got
old school in fifty hits. We start reminiscing sidekicks that

(18:45):
became the main dude that became a big star. Start
thinking about it that I met your favorite phone from
the two thousands. No, no, that would be my Nokia.
Oh I love Iowa?

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Sam?

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Does every want to play along at home to try
to figure out iOS Sam's musical tie in? Like, how
does he tie this into our next conversation?

Speaker 2 (19:08):
A child, a child, A child is born? Isn't this doesn't?
Her voice just puts a chill up your spine. Oh,
puts a tingle in my holiday dings. I just said
that to spot.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
It puts a tingle in my little jingle holiday jingle jangle.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Makes me feel like I'm out a shopping mall.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Well, come on now, Happy holidays.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
It's company Holiday party Thursday, Cowboys Lions Thursday. Really pumped
about that off the air with debate and like, is
Dak Prescott likable? I find him to be really likable. Yeah,
Ricky's like I don't like them, But Ricky's a Cowboy
fan not anymore, not anymore? Yeah, big reveal coming soon.
He's got a new tea. He goes out because I

(19:47):
think I have a new team, like a new team. Yeah,
Ricky does all the production here. He's the mastermind behind
some of the stuff you hear. Ricky and Vito clear
great team on fox Yorts Radio. A flighty fan though, Yeah,
I know, but then again, thirty years of disappointment after
the nineties, Iowa Sam is our musical architect, our sound guy,

(20:08):
board operator, associate radio tycoon, and Danny G's our super producer,
spots on the videos Covino and Rich FSR and Dan
Byer is just the greatest in the land. I gotta
kiss his ass. I got to get points. Dan Byer's
mad at me now, the best guy ever. Dan Byer,
He's got your updates in a few minutes now. We
said it before. Yeah, this child, a child, child is born,

(20:30):
a child is born. Congratulations first and first mostly as
we say to Luca and Draymond Green, they both.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Welcome children, not together but together. That would have been something, huh.
I know.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
But Luca's out, Drammond's in, and it gets people buzzing.
So what's the right thing to do? The work life
family dynamic, the family balance. I think in our lifetime
we've seen a lot of things changed dramatically and we're
not like old dudes. I feel like, like weed culture.
We talked about weed culture, how it was like a

(21:03):
taboo to smoke weed. Now like most states are like
you can legally gambling.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Gambling.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Gambling and weed are usually the two things that pop
in my mind. You went to weed college. No, but
it's like, uh, Cavino, just the other day, I said,
when I have a holiday party or people of my house,
I say, hey, in the garage, you know, hey, help yourself.
We have drinks for the kids, so juice boxes, we
have Seltzer's beer wine, and on the top shelf in the.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Back there's some weed drinks. So be careful if you're
not used to them.

Speaker 7 (21:33):
Give me be careful what you grabbing that fridge. And
Kavino goes like juice boxes and juice boxes and Cavino's like,
do you feel weird saying that to the parents? I go, no,
because it's legal.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Yeah, but I don't mix that hard with other parents
from the school.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
You know what I mean, Like, they don't need to
know me like that.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
But it's no different than you saying like you want
a whiskey. It is to me, I mean but whatever
foats your boat. Different mindset, So it goes along with
this conversation.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
I think.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
I think we've changed mindsets over the years. Look at
your boomer parents and by the way, happy birthday to
your dad. Happy belated right, my dad's birthday was this
week as well.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Now, their mindset was likely, Yeah, you put your.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Head down and you work hard, and you know, work, work, work, priority, priority,
probably don't be a don't be a lazy sack of crap.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Work, work work, and they would put work over most things.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
And then a flagger I would say, in the last uh,
what would you say? Especially since COVID. But in the
last decade, we've seen people really emphasize work life balance,
and I think corporately is that a word? Corporately mm hmm.
Even bosses and management have said like, if you need

(22:50):
a mental health day, if you need some personal time,
work life balance, work life balance. I think because of
liability reasons too, a lot of employers are like, hey, hey,
if you need a day, you know, take your day.
But it's been very encouraging day.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Now this all leads to.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
Being there for when your kid is born, and the
extension of that is maternity and paternity leave. I could
tell you our parents and grandparents generation, the idea of
a dude not going to work because he became a
dad just seemed insane. Yeah, there's gonna be generational differences
here on how this is perceived now nowadays, if you
get paternity leave, like why would you not take it
to be with your kid?

Speaker 2 (23:31):
And there's a priority of family.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
And I still think there's a little hint of weenie
if you're the dude and you're taking off for an
extended amount of time, because people really leaning I feel
like now you're taking advantage of it a little bit.
I still but a you're taking advantage something that's in place.
If you love what you do. To me, it just
says you don't like what you do that much, or
you're just being there for the early stages of your kid.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
I mean, I work, I'm not.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
Just extremely important. I'm not saying it's not and I'm
never ever saying don't be there for the.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
Birth of your child. Do you remember when we first started.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Covino's first big buzz on Fox Sports Radio is that
he said Jeff McNeil on the Mets was a woof
for taking paternity leave. Even the Mets radio announcer Howie
Rose tweeted that Covino was a moron.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Hold on, they switched my words around.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
Around No.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
If you look it up, google it Covino McNeil. There
was some heated beef. Yeah, people said the world was
like Covino. They called you a barbaric old school meat haead.
I think they're just making stuff up. That's just stuff
you think about me. Oh thanks, he was just sharing
his opinion. Yea said you were a self centered Guido.

(24:45):
I mean, I am self centered. I'm not gonna lie.
My parents raised. I blame my parents for that. I'm
trying to be better. But what I did say was,
of course he should be there. They told me, or
the article said that I said that he shouldn't have
been there for the birth of his child. I never
said that. I've never felt that way. To me, that's
a given. That's obvious. You're having a baby. I think

(25:08):
you should be there, okay, or do your best to
be there. Of course, what I said was as a fan,
I want you back as soon as you can. I'm
happy you had a baby and all be there for
the birth, but please come back as fast as you could, because.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
I'm a fan.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
I want to see you play. Dude, Hey, congrats, you
know you're there. The baby's good, come back and play.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
You said, once the placenta's buried in the backyard, get
your ass back to work.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
I said something like that, But I never said that
he shouldn't be there for the birth of his kid.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
I know, but I don't.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
As a fan, I'm thinking, and I'm being honest as
a selfish fan, As a selfish fan, I'm like, hey, Dudekay,
come back. Yeah, congrats, come back and play. And the
story is this, Luca is out against the Raptors tonight
and Celtics tomorrow, and again, congratulations. Dramon is in for

(26:03):
the seventy six ers, and honestly, I'm really surprised by this.
And he was very open and candid about his feelings.

Speaker 3 (26:08):
He talked about.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
How he he's their for his team, but he does
think it sucks.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Dreamond your family is about to grow.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
What is it like going on the road knowing something
like really big and important is on the horizon?

Speaker 4 (26:23):
Sucks if I'm honest. But nonetheless, this is this is
my job. I love to do my job. So but
It's terrible, if I'm honest. It's not the first time
I've been in this position, though, But my wife does
a great job.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
She's strong.

Speaker 5 (26:42):
You know.

Speaker 4 (26:43):
I'll do all I can and get back here if
I need to.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Now it sounds like I'm talking out of both sides
of my mouth, But remember with the Jeff McNeil, hold on,
with the Jeff mcgil story, what did I say, of
course you should be there. I'm shocked that Draymond Green
is missing the breath of his out for a week
ass Thursday night early season seventy six ers game.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
Well, we don't know the exact birth date and all
the day.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
But it is his fifth kid too.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Well, I know that that factors in because everyone has
to be honestly, but I don't think it should it
a factor.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
But it does.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
Becauseca's second and Draymond's fifth.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
You know, every time his stories come up, is it
his first kid? And I'm with Rich, shouldn't it shouldn't fifth.
Let's be honest. Our parents all have favorites. That is true,
and I am proud to say that's me. So your
thoughts on the work life balance, Well, I think it's
obvious Rich that you got to be there for the

(27:40):
birth of your kid, like do everything you can. People work,
people travel, you make exceptions, you leave. It's just a
it's just a game at that point. See, no, but
my problem and I just get and want to be consistent.
My problem is the amount of time afterward. That's the
that's always like I got like a Steman who had
just hit us up. He goes, see, people are soft
af these days. But a guy like Wes said, well,

(28:02):
it depends.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
He's saying.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
If it's like a corporate job, take full advantage of
every day they give you. But this guy's making millions
playing basketball. I personally don't think that matters. And I'll
tell you why.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
Just because you're.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Making twenty thirty forty million, fifty million dollars a year
playing basketball versus a guy making you know, fifty one
hundred grand working for a corporation, that doesn't change how
you feel about your wife, or.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Your children, or your mom or your sibling and the set.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
I don't think you're I don't think how you handle
your personal business should be dictated by how much money
you make.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
I don't think it's like you say, much though.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
Yeah, because it's always it's always going to come back
to that, like you're making so much money. I understand
the thought process. That's just but that's jealous thinking.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
It is.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
It's like, so, I have a question, but it's probably
why he's there, you know, because of the pressure of
they're paying me this much money.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
I gotta be here, and I think that.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
I think with that money, though, comes a freedom of, like,
you know, I'm gonna be able to prioritize. I am
shocked that Draymon is when guys in the NBA now
miss a game or so because there Tootsie hurts, you know,
my obleaque's a little sore, like they're missing a game
or so being like phantom injuries. Like you're honest, I'm
just kidding. I believe it. But if you feel as

(29:15):
though guys on your team are taking rest days and
load management days, how could you ever be upset if
an NBA player is like, yeah, I'm gonna go be
there for the birth of my kid, you'd be double talking.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Dickie.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
Well, I think the question lies within this. I think
we all agree you got to be there. Yeah, Draymond,
he's in a tough spot. What's your balance? I think
The question is what's your balance and what do you
think about like the modern day thinking of the man
taking his paternity leave.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
What's your thoughts on that?

Speaker 1 (29:45):
Like I said, I'm coming from a selfish sports fan perspective.

Speaker 2 (29:48):
I'm like, yeah, man, get out there, come on, you're
making lots of money. Let's go.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
What's more important? Well eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox,
I told you how I feel about it. You know,
one more layer and they will hit well, you know,
it's kick at the Dann Bayer and then more thoughts
on this d B.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
What up?

Speaker 2 (30:03):
What up you guys?

Speaker 6 (30:04):
There is some NBA news Bucks forward Giannis and Tetakumpo
out two to four weeks because of a calf strain,
and you talked about missing games. The Calves were fined
two hundred and fifty thousand dollars for holding out Darius
Garland of a nationally televised game but playing him in
the non nationally televised game as part of the back
to back, so he played on November twenty third, but

(30:26):
did not play on November twenty fourth against Toronto. That
was the national TV game rating, so Calves docked two
hundred and fifty thousand dollars. They were docked one hundred
thousand dollars earlier this season for manipulating their injury report.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
So sketchy.

Speaker 6 (30:44):
Yes, absolutely, A news from the NFL Lions and Cowboys
tonight from Motown eight to fifteen Eastern. I'm on Ross
Saint Brown questionable. We'll find out in about an hour
whether he'll play tonight.

Speaker 1 (30:57):

Couple on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 8 (31:02):
And in addition to hearing us live weeknights from seven

excited to announce brand new YouTube channel for the show.

Speaker 2 (31:12):

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Week fourteenth, Thursday, Company Holiday Party Thursday, and it's time
for our Tie I Rank. Play of the Day the
Aaron Fox had the Spurs cooking in Orlando looking for Fox.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
He's got him down to six, down to five. Fox
picked that by Vogner Fox crossing up Fox at the
free throw.

Speaker 6 (31:51):
Line, shot his block, but a foul, a foul on
shoaan Isa.

Speaker 1 (31:55):
Against the horn Seld San Antonio beating the Magic one
fourteen one twelve. That's courtesy of twelve hundred news radio
WA w Ohia Spurs Radio Network, and that's our Tirec
play the day. By the way, I was in San
Antonio last month, the sporting goods stores. You can imagine
a bunch of Wemby stuff, but they got Fox stuff too.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
Man rising Star.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
Looking at the clock, and that means every Thursday, it's
old school. When fifty hits, there's a certain.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
Y.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
What we gonna do is go back.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
Back into town.

Speaker 9 (32:31):
Throwing it back for a Thursday. Old school won fifty hits.
That's fifty after CNR give you the time capsule topic
and we reminisce together.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
Yeah, all right, we get you involved. Eight seven, seven
ninety nine on Fox and of course streaming live on
YouTube Covino and Rich FSR. The live chat's going and
follow and chime in now because Danny G's gonna pick
some names on YouTube and give away some prizes. But
we'll get your feedback now at Coben on Rich FSR

(33:03):
as well. I got to give credit where's due, Rich
Danny G comes up with great ideas all the time.
That's what a producer does, keeps us on track, keeps
us in line, comes up with great ideas and of
course great insight.

Speaker 3 (33:14):
Danny G's the best.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
See here in Hollywood in Los Angeles, producer is the
title that gets thrown around a lot, like, what's the
producer even do? Danny G does a lot. Most do nothing.
Most do nothing. Most just say that to impress women.
Danny G actually produces. How many guys have told a
woman they're a producer and that means nothing A lot?

Speaker 3 (33:35):
Yes, I'm a producer.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
Danny G produces the show. He's our executive producer. You're like, oh, guys,
old school fifty is Today is jay Z's fifty six birthday. Now,
Danny G came up in the hip hop ranks of radio,
had history with jay Z. He probably sent them a
text message, Yo, jay Z is Danny G. But here's

(34:00):
something that I know and Danny G. I know Danny
G knows this. Jay Z started off as a sidekick.
I remember, like yesterday, on a throwback Thursday, I went
to Sam Goodie because good he had it good, he
got it to buy a MAXI single of a song
called Hawaiian Sophie. Right, yeah, Hawaiian Sophie was played a
lot on the video jukebox where you'd order videos.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
It was a video I show in the box all
the time. How old are you? I guess I'm getting old.
I don't know what you're talking about.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
It as young as hell, bro. Yeah, Hawaiian Sophie was
nineteen eighty nine.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
All right, so eighty nine and it was a song
by Jazz. And I remember buying the Jazz single and
flipping it over and thinking nothing of it. I was like, oh,
there's Jazz and his sidekick. Years later, I find that
MAXI single in the shoe box and I flip it over.
I'm like, oh man, that was jay Z. Jay Z

(34:50):
was Jazz's sidekick and dude. Years later we interviewed jay
Z and actually told jay Z, you know, man, I
love I used to love jazz. He's like, for real.
He thought I was messing with him about it. I
think when Cavino dropped that little fun fact on jay Z,
jay Z was like, all right, you know your stuff,
so yeah, but he's like, nobody likes jazz. He's like,
how do you even know me from jazz. I'm like

(35:11):
cause I put those pieces together. He was Jazz's sidekick,
but he became the main star, right he left Jazz
in the dust. It appeared to me that he was
grateful that Jazz gave him his break in hip hop.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Yeah, he went on to feature Jazz on a couple
of his songs.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
But jay Z obviously became one of the ghats.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
So it got us thinking, what are sidekicks in sports
and music and TV that became the big stars of
their own?

Speaker 3 (35:40):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (35:40):
I got so many favorites, sidekicks that became the main character, right,
the big star movies, TV, sports, music. The categories are endless.
So if you want to chime in, let's go. Best
answers may get a little sumptm make it all a
prize eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox in honor
of best side Kicks. Next on FSR. You know everybody

(36:08):
starts somewhere, I get it. I mean I started off
as someone's sidekick. Yeah, we first started. You were my Guermo.
And you know what, I was a producer and sidekick
on the air in New York City k Rock New
York on a show called Solid State with Liquid Todd,
So its Liquid Todd and El Covino, and I was

(36:28):
his sidekick right the.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
Point that are not bilingual. That's Theveno Cavino.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
You know, it's a mixed show on a rock station
Saturday Nights and things like that. But jay Z got
his start as the sidekick to a rapper named Jazz
and he became the greatest of all time arguably. I
mean you can say that's ll Colejay. He coined the
term goat. But jay Z is one of the best
in the game, no doubt. So the conversation today old

(36:55):
school and fifty hits throwing it back on a Thursday.
Name some of those sidekicks that be came the big star.
You know what is interesting, We have so much great feedback.
Phones are all lit, so I don't want to take
anyone's answer, but you know, it's another category besides athletes, music, movies,
TV shows.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
Do you guys ever look, this is a weird.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
Way to look at it, but do you ever look
at offensive and defensive coordinators like sidekicks to the head coach,
and some become a head coach and you're like, yep,
they're meant to do it. But then there's others like
Jim Schwartz, Robert Sala, Wade Phillips back in the day
where you're like, no, no, you're better is like the
sordekick almost like you're better as it, just like McDaniel,
Josh McDaniel is an offensive coordinator, not a head coach.

(37:34):
Like there are some guys that I hate to call
a successful coordinator in professional sports a sidekick, but it's
almost what they are, right, I totally see what you're saying.
Absolutely yeah. I think there's like I can think off
the top of my off the top of the dome,
like Harry mack off the top of the dome, two
primo examples, and I'll use that to kick it off, okay,

(37:56):
because I think they're so obvious, like iconic examples of
what we're talking about. And Danny g when he was
produced and he threw the same exact examples out there.
Number one has to be our good pal Henry Winkler,
the Fons. He was just the sidekick. He wasn't meant
to be the main guy. Hey, he was the mechanic

(38:17):
on happy days. He was there for like comic relief
for the A and oh and he became the dude.
He became the main attraction to Big Star. He's Henry Winkler.
The Fons Fons is iconic, but he wasn't meant to
be iconic. He was meant to be just the sidekick,
ancillary character, no bigger than Pozzi and Ralph Mouth. He
was the guy, became legend. And it's a very similar story,

(38:38):
so I might as well say it. It's the same
exact story with Steve Urkle.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
Did I do that? He's supposed to be just the
goofy neighbor and he stole the show.

Speaker 10 (38:46):
Chee.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
He's seen Steeler, right, he became the guy. Well, now, listen,
you could give us examples. Danny g was all about
sidekicks that became their own number one guy. But if
you just have some funny sidekicks, you could throw those
in there as well. But let's go to the phones.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
I don't want to take an I'm looking at the
feedback on the intro.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
I had to throw those two out there because those
are two primo TV examples, just to kick it off,
just to get it going.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Here's one.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
If you're a wrestling fan, Joey Elbow says Virgil was
a great sidekick, the late great Virgil for the million
dollars sidekick where he was never there. They tried to
make him go. He went solo for a minute, but
then I was like, what's Virgil without the million dollar man?

Speaker 3 (39:25):
Right?

Speaker 1 (39:25):
I always looked at him as the million dollar man's sidekick.
So he was a great sidekick, but he was never
He never blew up to be the guy. Like Nature
Boy thirty two hit us up on the intro, he goes,
would you guys consider because a lot of times I
consider the coling commentator the sidekick to the play by
play guy would say that John Madden was Pat Summer
All sidekick. Again, I could see the thought process there.

(39:48):
I think that's fun for speculation and fun conversation. Yeah,
I could see that because you do assume or associate
the color guy as the sidekick to the main broadcast.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
Except John Madden had been the head coach of the
Oakland Exactly.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
I had star power.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
He was the star.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
He had star Let's let's go to the phones and
then I have some really good ones as well. So uh,
let's say, how to our guy, most generous friend we
have at FSR trip and Vacas.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
What's up? Trip, what's up, Hey, good afternoon, gentlemen.

Speaker 10 (40:20):
I got a couple that was That would be Jimmy McElroy,
who was Chad Michael Michaels partner.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
It's great.

Speaker 10 (40:26):
Uh, the offensive coordinator one in my time, I would
say nor Turn, Yeah, never afraid as a head coach,
but he was phenomenal as a coordinator.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
Great example.

Speaker 10 (40:36):
And then I got two sports ones. I would say
these may not be what you were talking about, but
I would say Louke Garrick because he the babe Ruth
was a man. And then Louke Garrick became his own star.
And then the second one, people forget Barry Sanders backed
up Thurman Thomas at Oklahoma State.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
That's a wilder.

Speaker 2 (40:56):
What a what a running back room?

Speaker 3 (40:57):
Yeah? Crazy?

Speaker 1 (40:58):
That was you see you see that in college football
sometimes like what was the quarterback groom? For Those are
cool answers because again you're playing in the shadows a
little bit of a bigger star, so not necessarily a sidekick,
but it still applies. Those are great examples. Thank you Trip,
Jay in Minnesota, Jay your own C and R.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
What's up, Bud hey Man?

Speaker 5 (41:15):
Thanks for getting Nicoll. You got one that's it's for TV.
Back in the day, there was a super hero show
called The Green Hornet and his driver was his sidekick
and the guy who was his driver with Bruce Lee.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
Yeah, oh, get on a super cool example, man, I
love that example.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
What's the sidekick on Ason, Gary?

Speaker 3 (41:35):
Your favorite cartoon?

Speaker 1 (41:36):
I always thought Gary was the sidekick David Reno, what's up, Dave.
That's a great example.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Thank you.

Speaker 11 (41:44):
Hey guys.

Speaker 5 (41:44):
Yeah, remember when Jimmy Kimmel used to be the sidekick
for when Benstein's Money, and then he got his own
talk show late night?

Speaker 2 (41:52):
Dude, good one, man, that'll be a real good one.
Really interesting.

Speaker 1 (41:56):
We brought up Geirmo. Kimmel was on the Brain, But yeah,
he was ben Stein's random guy. I actually kind of
forgot until you said it. He was kind of the
MC of whin ben Stein's in the Money, he's the host.
I thought he was gonna say The Man Show or
something like. Yeah, Jimmy Kimmel was the sports guy on
Kevin and Bean right, yeah, which was a big radio

(42:16):
show out here in La.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
Can I give you one that Jeff hit us up
with Jeff our buddy?

Speaker 1 (42:22):
Who is in Where where's Jeff living in these shape, buddy,
Jeff Edstrom, where's he living?

Speaker 2 (42:27):
Alabama, Nashville? Where's he out these days?

Speaker 3 (42:30):
He's just living.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
I'm such a bad friend.

Speaker 1 (42:31):
Yeah, choosy moms, choose Jeff. It's a beautiful kid, beautiful wife.
But I forget where he lives anyway. Jeff goes, not
even lives on a boat somewhere. No, he used to
live on a cruise ship. He did our buddy, Jeff
said one you guys will never think of. So he's
gonna throw it out there, Saul Goodman.

Speaker 2 (42:48):
I love that answer.

Speaker 1 (42:49):
He goes it was a side character on Breaking Bed czes.
Everyone loves to say Breaking Bed best show ever, And
he goes, Better Call Saul was a fantastic spinoff.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
Dude.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
Props to Bob Odenkirk too, who listens to our show.
That's a great, great answer because.

Speaker 2 (43:04):
He really listens. Yeah, he became.

Speaker 1 (43:07):
A big star of a zone, had his own spin off,
and people, if you downplay Better Call Saul, you missed
out because that show was great. It dipped for a minute,
came back so strong.

Speaker 2 (43:16):
I love that. That's a great answer.

Speaker 1 (43:17):
Can I give you one that's getting their own spinoff
after all these years. You go to Universal, you see
it everywhere.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
One of the best kids movies.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
You just saw the documentary about Eddie Murphy. There's a
new Shrek coming out, but there's also a spinoff called Donkey.
There's a Donkey is getting his own movie star in
his own movie movie.

Speaker 3 (43:38):
Yeah, put some boots down.

Speaker 2 (43:40):
And let me let me throw one more at you.

Speaker 1 (43:41):
In the music world, because this is one I don't
think anyone will mention, but we all know Kid Rock
famous dude Uncle Cracker, who had like a handful of
radio hits.

Speaker 2 (43:53):
Uncle Cracker was Kids Rock Can DJ on tour.

Speaker 1 (43:56):
You know what's interesting about that too, He wasn't even
the second most famous guy in that group, because that
would say Joe c Remember little Joseph had.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
More game than kal Eco a little dude.

Speaker 1 (44:07):
Yeah, he was the second guy in Kid Rocks band,
and you're right, Uncle Cracker became the guy after that,
so props to him.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
That's a good one one that I've been watching on
Netflix lately. I started from season one, episode one, because
I've never seen the older episode. Seinfeld George Costanza, what.

Speaker 2 (44:24):
I mean, what a great yeah, what a great character.

Speaker 3 (44:26):
That show would not be the same without that sidekick
to Seinfeld.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
Costanzo was like the comic group and then Kramer two.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
That show is just unbelievable, and it applies because obviously
each character of that show became their own star, you know,
because the show got so big, so based on jay
Z's birthday, he started as a sidekick to another rapper
named Jazz, but became the biggest star. Who are some
other guys that started as a sidekick and became a
huge star, just like that.

Speaker 2 (44:54):
Dwight in Kentucky?

Speaker 3 (44:56):
What's up? D White?

Speaker 11 (44:57):
What's happening?

Speaker 2 (44:59):
Good to hear from you.

Speaker 12 (45:00):
Hey, y'all have.

Speaker 10 (45:01):
Taken all the good ones.

Speaker 11 (45:02):
Man, I have to have to do my list over
real quick.

Speaker 10 (45:06):
Okay, I got to.

Speaker 3 (45:07):
Go one for you though.

Speaker 5 (45:08):
You remember tears, right of course? What about afraid you
took off and got them?

Speaker 1 (45:13):
What about what he Harrelson? You know what, Dwight, let
me hit you with. Let me hit you with the
show from that same generation. I was just thinking, like
you would talk about Erkele and the fonds and side
characters that were sort of the star. Would you say
that rerun on What's Happening? I don't know, but he
wasn't really a big star, but I'm saying like he

(45:36):
was the fun of the show.

Speaker 2 (45:37):
I love his dance moves.

Speaker 3 (45:38):
Rich would you say? Carlton was the sidekick to Fresh
Prince on Fresh Principle and he was it.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
What's interesting about a Fonso Roberro who were pals with
kind of sort of we like him.

Speaker 3 (45:52):
The means he took a picture with him one time.

Speaker 1 (45:53):
He was like the biggest star of the ages. But
there was a time where we were bumping into him everywhere.
Danny g to the point where he couldn't void.

Speaker 3 (46:00):
Being our pet.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
But dude, he was in commercials and dancing around Michael
Jackson in the eighties. He's on silver spoons. He was
doing like dance videos. He was everywhere, was the tap
dance kid. That dude was like all things famous for
a child act or in the eighties and then became
the sidekick to you like Will Smith, he was already
way famous. We were at we were at a party
once and I just remember and it's not a name drop,

(46:23):
it's Alfonso Orbero, but I remember that we were at
a party once where I think Alfonso Roberto just sat
down and talked to our video guy spot for an hour,
just because he didn't really know anyone else.

Speaker 2 (46:33):
At the party and didn't want to be bothered. So
I think he was just like, I'll.

Speaker 1 (46:36):
Talk to spot Spot and uh in Alfonsobero best friend. Yeah,
people don't know that. So again the sidekick that became
the big star. Alright, Allison in the Cus, what's up Syracuse.

Speaker 12 (46:47):
Hey, I'm so excited to talk to you guys favor.

Speaker 1 (46:51):
You're our favorite listener in Syracuse. Go get some dinosaur barbecue.
I went there. I was I'm a Syracuse guy.

Speaker 12 (46:57):
I knew you were a Syracuse guy. I listened to
your show. You're missing a lot of snow right now,
so you probably don't want to be here tonight, but
I do not love to watch. She made my commune home.
I'm in a good mood when I get home from
work because if you talk about you like you're my
best friends. So I have one. It's sticking with the
TV theme, and I think I'm in your funeral age range.
She might remember, although you may not have watched. Jennifer

(47:20):
Garner started out as Felicity sidekick Felicity with Kerrie Russell,
and I love Kerrie Russell she was in that American show. Yeah,
but Jennifer Garner's everywhere. She's in you know, Superhero movie,
She's married to Ben Affleck, She's on every other commercial.

Speaker 2 (47:36):
What's What's What's in your Wild? Yeah, Yeah, that's it.
That's a good one.

Speaker 3 (47:41):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (47:41):
I was thinking of another president in our age group
as well. When you are kids, you watch Doogie Howser
Cavino used to love Vinnie Delpino, Hey Doom the Neighbor.
But when I think of Neil Patrick Harris, much like
Erkele and the Funds, How I Met Your Mother is
a story of Ted explaining how he met the mom,

(48:02):
Barney Stinson became the star of that show. Great answer,
Neil Patrick Harris. That's one of my favorite shows. He
also meant to be Neil Patrick Harris like the main guy.
I mean, Ted's like one of those like hateable, lovable
main characters. You know, Jason Siegel, Alison had Again, they're
a great cast. Love the show. But let's be honest,
any clip or any memory you have of that show

(48:23):
is like Barney Stinson was the funny of that show,
no doubt. I think it's a great exact. I think
that's right up there with as a modern day Erkle
Fawns example. I thing again side character becoming the big star.
I'm gonna stretch this out. This is based on jay Z.
Would you say Tupac could be in this conversation because
he was in Digital Underground as a backup dancer, nothing

(48:46):
but trouble and then became an iconic wrapper and in
face of hip hop.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
So he was just a backup dude to the Humpty Dances.

Speaker 1 (48:57):
Do you guys, I mean, I'm going back to Neil
Patrick Harris for a second. Do you guys know the
story of how he sort of landed that role because
we forget he was a child star Doogie Howser MD
and then you know he came out openly gay man. Right,
so we're talking about openly gay guy who is a
child star. How does he become like the womanizer on

(49:18):
CBS's biggest sitcom. They saw that he could play that
sort of role just by his cameo in Harold and Koomar.

Speaker 3 (49:26):
Go to White Castle.

Speaker 2 (49:27):
Yeah, that's a great thing memory he had that sweet cameo.

Speaker 1 (49:29):
Or it's like, yo, that's Neil Patrick Harris playing like
a vulgar maniac ye. So that little cameos it shed
a different light on It's like, wow, Neil Patrick Harris
could play that type of role and man, hey dude,
if you say I'm stretching and this doesn't count, then
by all means let me know. But that's one of
my favorite shows growing up was Pee Wee's play has.

(49:50):
That's why I feel like this is Stevie's playhouse, but
pee Wee was the star. Is that why when Dan
Byer does up that, you say, Michaelikahei, mccahideo.

Speaker 2 (50:01):
Hey dan Byer.

Speaker 1 (50:04):
So oh, if you remember that Stevie, there was a
guy named Cowboy Curtis that would come in and he'd
hang out with Pee Wee Herman Cowboy Curtis. Cowboy Curtis
turned out to be a big time movie star by
the name of Lawrence Fishburn.

Speaker 2 (50:16):
So I don't know if that applies.

Speaker 1 (50:17):
And a lot of people don't even realize that Lawrence
Fishburn's common knowledge to some but to other people are like,
wait a second, wait, I know it because that's I
know because you're a big pee Wee fan. But they
talk about that in the Peewee documentary and it's fantastic
what's up the bag?

Speaker 3 (50:29):
I was going to just add another one to this.

Speaker 6 (50:31):
You guys are talking about jay Z obviously you guys
were mentioning Tupac.

Speaker 3 (50:35):
I think as of late Toto.

Speaker 6 (50:38):
Remember, these are just session guys in you know, making
music for everything else, and now all of a sudden,
like let's just have our own band and total becomes huge.

Speaker 3 (50:48):
Yes, yeah, that's a good one, dude.

Speaker 1 (50:49):
If I'm not mistaken, Toto did the Thriller album, like
they were the musicians on that album.

Speaker 6 (50:54):
Yeah, A lot of the songs yes, yes, and human
Nature uh yeah, I was written by one of the
guys in Toto.

Speaker 1 (51:00):
Oh you know, based on that. The Eagles they were
Linda rod Stance like backup band and then boom they
become the Eagles.

Speaker 3 (51:09):
You know, a guy in the eighties music scene, we
couldn't turn the radio on without hearing Phil Collins. He definitely,
I mean he was a drummer.

Speaker 1 (51:18):
Yeah, Genesis, but he was yeah yeah, so again sidekick,
not the main dude. Then the main dude is basically
the conversation here, trying to think you know, you know me,
I was never sold on this. I was trying to
think if there was a wrestling example of like someone
that was like became the star. Yeah, I'm racking my

(51:39):
brain through I'm like Scottie Pippen, But he was never
really the main guy after.

Speaker 2 (51:42):
That, you know, he's always the boys wanted the main guy.

Speaker 6 (51:47):
I kind of made mentioned earlier today about Mike Holmgren
and being the assistant to Bill Walsh. We look back
at there was an NFL films deal where they talked
about all of the head coaches that worked under Mike
Holmgren that were former assistants that became head coaches. But
I think I think that Homegren was like the first one,

(52:09):
the hot assistant where that branched from Bill Walsh.

Speaker 1 (52:13):
Of course I remember because I remember him as a
Niners fan. I remember my and then being like, wow,
he's on his own now and he's yes, star coach.

Speaker 2 (52:19):
Would Belichick under Parcels apply here?

Speaker 1 (52:22):
Yes, yes, kind of yes, right at one point he
was the sidekick? Yeah, right, based on your couple before,
not only at one point, a couple of times, because
there were a couple of ten years.

Speaker 6 (52:33):
Was first with the Giants and then even with the Jets.
He went and worked for Parcels.

Speaker 3 (52:39):
And you know, I think we're seeing.

Speaker 1 (52:42):
We're seeing a guy like Ben Johnson become the star
if the if the if the Bears keep winning, you're
not gonna look at Ben Johnson is.

Speaker 2 (52:50):
Like, you know that clever play calling coordinator for the Lions.

Speaker 1 (52:53):
You're gonna be like, do you mean the head coach
that is giving the Bears glory for the first time
in like decades. So it is pretty interesting though, because
jay Z really was again like the hype man, the
sidekick to another rapper question flavor flav He's always a
side always, He's like the consummate sidekick. He's like Scottie Pippeny,

(53:13):
but he's always the second everyone knows him. Well, he's
super famous, but that's his role, right, But he did
But you know what, Rich, You're right, he became a
TV star, Right, that's a good answer to become his
own star. So yeah, I would say that that is.
But he's he's like the consummate sidekick or hype man.
I don't know that's a good one. Let's go to

(53:34):
Jim in Vegas.

Speaker 11 (53:35):
Hey, Jim, Hey guys, thank you guys for taking my call.

Speaker 2 (53:39):
No problem, man, what's.

Speaker 11 (53:40):
Up becoming a big fans of you? Guys. I mean, oh,
thanks for Dan Patrick one morning and now you guys
got me listening to you every afternoon.

Speaker 2 (53:49):
Like, hey man, that means it's work.

Speaker 3 (53:51):
That's the goal.

Speaker 1 (53:51):
When we're feeling for Dan Patrick and that alarm goes
off at four a m. You're the that what you
just said is the reason we do it.

Speaker 2 (53:57):
Yeah, thank you so much.

Speaker 11 (54:00):
You guys ready for the best one. You guys are
gonna get. You guys are.

Speaker 3 (54:03):
Ready, let's go.

Speaker 11 (54:04):
This guy's gonna end up probably being the best actor
in history, one of the best actors ever history. He
started off on a TV show called Bosom. Buddy Lauri
was the star of that show, and Tom Hanks oldertook
everything and became what he is today.

Speaker 1 (54:21):
That's you know what I thought you were gonna say.
And by the way, I like that example better. I
think you're gonna say. Leadard at DiCaprio was just like
the random kid on Growing Pains. I thought, that's what
you're gonna say because those are that's along the same lines, Like,
you're right, Tom Hanks was not the but.

Speaker 2 (54:33):
Tom Hanks more of a sidekick on that show.

Speaker 1 (54:35):
But Tom Hanks was great. He was that build as
like the main guy of Bosom Buddies. I remember correct
became a superstar.

Speaker 3 (54:42):
In our pre show media and you had a great
answer because Scott Beao, of course was the star. And
who did we tune in though? At least me when
I tuned into the show.

Speaker 1 (54:52):
Buddy Lembeck. Yeah, I just wish there was a Buddy
Lemback show. Hey, Charles, what was hyped up?

Speaker 3 (55:00):
I was in charge.

Speaker 2 (55:00):
Buddy Lneback was so horned up.

Speaker 1 (55:02):
He would always be like, Charles, there's some hot girls
down at Sid's Pizza. Like there was always like you know,
he always he was the Larry Dallas essentially, he was
the what you know, Jack Tripper had Larry. There was
always hot girls at the Regal Beagle. But I think
those dudes are just sidekicks. Nor Boner from Growing Pains,
Those are just sidekicks. The story here is those guys

(55:25):
becoming superstars. So eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox
and Yes, I said, when you said Boner from Growing Pains,
I thought that's when you were looking at the picture
of Joanna Currents.

Speaker 2 (55:34):
Oh no, that's a different one to your room. All right, alright, uh,
where do you want to go? Bob Rocher Bob in Rochester.

Speaker 3 (55:43):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (55:44):
Maybe I'll do stand up at a holiday party tonight.

Speaker 13 (55:46):
Please don't hey, Bobby, Hey guys, just driving through Buffalo
through the snow.

Speaker 2 (55:52):
No tell Shall always said high. What's up?

Speaker 12 (55:55):
Whatever?

Speaker 10 (55:55):
Whatever happened to Ryan Tacres's co host an American Idol.

Speaker 1 (56:00):
You know, Dunkleman is rich David's name, you know, changed
his name to Richard Davis Bob. What's interesting about that
is that Dunkleman missed out on you know, Ryan Seacrest
went on apparently for the sweetest reasons, but it was
just a bad career man. Like Dunkleman was like, I
don't like how they're mocking these kids. He thought they
were exploiting the kids and being mean at their expense.

(56:22):
And you know what, looking back, they were Simon Cowell
was like crushing these kids goals and dreams before our eyes,
and we were loving it, and we were exploiting like
people with accents and making fun of young men from
foreign countries. So Dunkleman was sort of ahead of that
trend of compassion and doing the right thing.

Speaker 2 (56:40):
It worked to his disadvantage. And then William Hunks saying
she bangs at your wedding.

Speaker 1 (56:45):
True story, true story. Yeah, let's go to DJ Extra.
But you know what, you could say that Ryan Seacrest
was the sidekick. They were, they were. You could say
he was kind of the side kick and he became
a mogul. How about Randy Jackson my dog?

Speaker 6 (57:04):
Yeah, the uh playing for Journey, you know, hitting that
bass and then American idol kind of to Simon Cowells.

Speaker 1 (57:13):
Agreed, Yeah, No, honestly, Randy was a standalone name that
everyone knew. But before that, you're right, he was just
a musician in a band. Yeah, which is no, but
you're already just a musician in the band. I think
it goes to show you too. That's the best that
they can get. They didn't have high budget for that show,
and that's no knock on him, but no one really
knew him that well as a solo act, and Paul

(57:35):
Abdul hadn't done much at that time. No, so let's
go to Vermont Real quick, Yo, DJ Extra, what's up?

Speaker 10 (57:41):
Yeah, I'm an old hip hop DJ. I gotta get
in a couple real quick.

Speaker 3 (57:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (57:45):
One of them is hiding in.

Speaker 5 (57:47):
Plane sight in the Doug gottlieb intro and that is
a Dougie Fresh snippet and his sidekick.

Speaker 10 (57:55):
Will you guys say it before I do?

Speaker 11 (57:57):
Slick Rick click Rick click Rick.

Speaker 1 (58:00):
I was more Dana Dayne kind of guy. But yes,
slick Rick de Rula became a huge, huge star and
you know that English accent, the iPads, the chains, the jewelry,
the gold tooth. He became iconic. So that's a really
great answer, man. What else you got?

Speaker 2 (58:17):
Let's say job one?

Speaker 3 (58:19):
Oh, I think one more?

Speaker 10 (58:21):
Yeah, you know Biggie Small's had one too, and she
was voluptuous and she was little kid.

Speaker 1 (58:28):
That's a great one. You made me think of another one.
In the world of hip hop. And this is a
true story. I always loved this story and I've said
it a million times. Busta Rhymes was just one of
the leaders of the New School. He was just one
of the ancillary guys. Charlie Brown was the main dude, right,
who's that Brown? So leaders of New School, they come
out and do scenario on our Senior Hall ar Senior
Hall welcomes a tribe called Quest Scenario. Leaders of the

(58:52):
New School collaborate on that song. Busta Rhymes does his
whole little gimmick and everyone's like, who's that guy? He
was just like one of the dudes in the band.
Becomes a huge, huge star after that on his own.
Oh man, we're running lately than his sister Leanne. You
know what, John Gerald, Lauren, We'll get back to everyone.

(59:16):
San Antonio. What's up San Antone?

Speaker 3 (59:19):
What's up? Jason?

Speaker 11 (59:22):
How about?

Speaker 10 (59:24):
I got a couple of mine taking so but what
about like Kevin Hart, he started when he started off
a soul plane and like so scary movies.

Speaker 2 (59:32):
He was in forty year Old Virgin. Yeah, he was
the guy.

Speaker 1 (59:34):
Romney Malco was the main part of that scene in
that set where he showed up and he's like, that's
Kevin Hart. You know, I can't say he was the sidekick,
but he wasn't the main guy. Yo, Jason, you ever
go to chac Cho's in San Antonio, one of my
favorite Mexican spots back.

Speaker 3 (59:48):
In the day.

Speaker 10 (59:50):
It fell off though, Man, it got pretty ghetto.

Speaker 1 (59:53):
My wife said the same thing when I first started
dating my wife, she's from New Bronfels.

Speaker 2 (59:57):
Every time she picked me up at the airport.

Speaker 1 (59:59):
Their case ideas that, like the size of Danny G's head,
they had the most monster like Mondo case ideas.

Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
Now Danny g is gonna think I forgive it. I
know this guy.

Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
And three fourths all right, I know what JJ and
ILLINOI wrap it up and they we'll go to dB.
That's just some quick rapid fire.

Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
We're good. What's that fire?

Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
JJ? Last one? What's up, Bud?

Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 13 (01:00:19):
Hey, I wanted to highlight a sidekick who fumbled their
chance at the spotlight. How about the guy was supposed
to be John wilts oohs sidekick the night he killed
Abraham Lincoln, and he was supposed to kill the vice president,
but instead he went to the saloon and got too
drunk and forgot.

Speaker 10 (01:00:35):
To do it.

Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
By the way, that's like the most bizarre yet awesome answer.
I think we ended with that.

Speaker 2 (01:00:40):
That is true.

Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
If you're I'm a history you know, besides super Bowl history,
presidential history is one of my favorite things, believe.

Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
It or not. No joke.

Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
Well off the air, I was saying, rich, how about
George Bush. He was sidekicked to Ronald Ray who.

Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
Was eight year vice president.

Speaker 1 (01:00:54):
VIPs became their own guy VPS that ended ended up
becoming peace.

Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
John Wilkes Booth. That is a true story.

Speaker 7 (01:01:03):
So both the president and vice president were supposed to
be assassinated.

Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
There was a.

Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
Plan that night of like, you know, a night of
destruction essentially, and the guy who was assigned to like,
you're going to take out the VP? Where was the VP?
It's got a little too much sauce. Well, uh, you know,
simping back. VP was not at No, he was not
at the theater. At the theater, okay, No, I have
to brush up on this.

Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
He couldn't get in good enough seats.

Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
Let's go at Damn Buyer for an update.

Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
What's up?

Speaker 2 (01:01:29):
dB?

Speaker 6 (01:01:30):
I was gonna say John Wilkes booth sidekick too. It's
right there for me, guys, and Sam Brown may play tonight.
We're going to find out in a few minutes. It
look like it got twisted ball. You know you've seen
him in his like wild family. They are competitors, to
say the police, So it doesn't shock. It's the it's

(01:01:51):
the We've been inundated now with shots of aman Raw
working out on the field, and actives are due within
the next five minutes, so we'll find out if he's
active or inactive. But right now Amanra Saint Brown at
least doing on field work prior to Cowboys and Lions tonight.
The Lions did elevate wide receiver Elie Cunningham from their

(01:02:12):
practice squad earlier today, which you could have taken as
a side that maybe Amonra wasn't going to play, But
it's also insurance if that's the case.

Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
Doesn't that also strike you, No, he's a star player,
but doesn't it also add to the urgency of this
game for the Lions that Ama is going to even
try to go like this is a.

Speaker 6 (01:02:30):
Most us Yeah, and you're gonna have to score points.
You guys talked about it off the top of how
much we you know, like how Dallas is playing and
you're gonna have to score tonight. Jeremy Foller of ESPN
just tweeted that a Monro gave him the thumbs up
that he is indeed playing tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Fonds, she wasn't just talking about our conversation. Hey, DP,
who do you got in this game?

Speaker 6 (01:02:52):
Gosh, I I like Dallas plus the points.

Speaker 1 (01:02:57):
I'll just say, yeah, watch what you hear at Covino
and rich FSR on YouTube. Covino and rich FSR on YouTube.
It's where our Bonus pod airs right after this overpromised.
We said we'd pick a winner, right. We need people
to follow for free, and people are chatting. Who you
got man, Samuel L. Johnson, Can I get a drummer roll?

Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
Oh? Go ahead, just slap your chest.

Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
And this is for a CNR on FSR nerf turbo football,
great stocking stuffer. We got plenty of them. So who's
the winner today?

Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
I like the answer from Scott for mayor. He said,
mister T from the A team.

Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Oh, this is a good one.

Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
That's a really good one, Scott. We're going to mail
out a turbo football to you when the shipment comes in.
Hit me up at crprizes at gmail dot com. That's
Crprizes at gmail dot com.

Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
Thank you, Scott, thanks for playing along. You know, thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:03:52):
Every day the YouTube chat and the YouTube page is growing.
So again, if you want to do us a holiday favor.
I feel like I'm tiny, Tim, can you do me
a favor? I'm like a crotch it and I'm not
asking for one more call in the fire. I'm asking
for just a simple follow on our YouTube page YouTube
dot com. Slash at Covin on rich FSR and I

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
