Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Oh, let's go, stinking genius, go,
let's go, let's go count down to this. Man, I'm
fired up. It's March madness. I don't know it is
not see I knew this was coming. Are you uncomfortable
with you know, the dude that you hang out with
on Saturday nights as I'm uncomfortable with the Absolutely didn't

(00:25):
want to make anything uncomfortable here tonight, you know, but
I was. Let me tell you, I was all into
the uh Megan marko um Carson Wentz interview tonight. I
thought that was fantastic. He does look a lot like
Carson Wentz, doesn't he He does? He Absolutely, I haven't
watched any of it. I'm not gonna lie to you.

(00:47):
I got it all DV yard and I cannot wait
to watch it. Does that make me pathetic? Probably? But
here we are broadcasting live from the Farmer's Insurance Fox
Sports Radio Studios. Call one eight eight farmers to switch
and you that's right, you could save big on your
auto insurance. It's really the best thing you can do
with your phone in a few minutes, just called eight
to eight farmers and start saving today. We are what

(01:12):
do we got m v P award getting handed out
after a team Lebron rolled over a team Durant tonight
getting to one seventy kind of a fast kind of
a fast game. And I gotta be honest with Yarnie
came in here with awful attitude, not in the show tonight,
but the All Star Game. I just I didn't know
why we had to do this. I felt like it

(01:33):
was a waste of time. I didn't think any of
the players want wanted to be there. I was mad
about no one asking Adam Silver tough questions in the
State of the League address or State of the Association address.
And my god, it was fun. This is a fun night.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this this evening. From the three
point competition too. I don't know how anyone in the
dunk competition when he didn't kiss the rim when he

(01:55):
was trying to kiss the rim. But who am I
to judge? I don't know. Am I crazy? I enjoy
this tonight? Oh? Yeah? I mean there's nothing better than
than shooting the ball from three quarters court and stuff
like that. I thought it was fantastic. That's what you
do whenever I'm watching your little highlight of Marny Span
you're playing. It's like the All Star Game shots from everywhere,

(02:15):
you know what. I I gotta give the players credit
because for a bunch of guys that really didn't want
to be here in the first place, it didn't look
like they were. They were having a bunch of fun.
You know. I didn't take much into it. By the way,
I have better uniforms in my y m c A league.
Then they were where did they get this? Like last
minute they said them about the Dick Sporting goods and
said we need like twenty of each so and could

(02:37):
they be any tighter? I don't understand this, but um,
it was okay. It wasn't nothing great. I I'm so
past All Star games. And that goes for football, baseball, basketball, hockey. Um,
it wasn't even scheduled to have it. So oh look
we got it on their way. We played it. Um,
only we only missed two guys. Oh my goodness. Could

(02:57):
you imagine had it been more than just two guys. Um,
then I had to miss this. But but overall was okay.
I watched it on the other TV while I was
watching the uh Prince Harry Megan Interview. Janice gets the
m v P thirty five points, sixteen and sixteen, and
that's where good right now. If you can do that
during the regular season the second half, the Bucks aren't

(03:17):
gonna lose. I mean, look out, put them up there
with the Brooklyn Nets. Okay, can I can I try
to sell you on this a little bit? You know,
I got I've got this new car that I'm I'm
I'm interested in trying to get you to buy. Here today, Annie,
can you buy that it wasn't as bad as it
could have been. I'm not gonna try to tell you
that this was basketball Picasso that was taking place today.

(03:38):
But I've kind of started to enjoy All Star games
for what they are. It's it's an exhibition where dudes
can can play crazy. It's not very structured. You get
to see different matchups, guys have fun. Sometimes they'll get
a little fired up, like a few times you saw
Harden and Chris Paul go back and forth. But I mean,
if you just take it for what it is, and
you don't complain about the jerseys and every little thing,

(04:01):
it's actually kind of a fun night. But you know what, though,
I don't care. I don't mind having the All Star Games.
It was just in this year, you know, with the
shortened season a little bit and what's going on with
COVID and the players could have used the extra rest
and they didn't want to be there to begin with.
And I actually prefer the Eastern versus Western Conference. I
hope something we go back to that. But you know,
I wouldn't mind it. Just missed it for one year

(04:23):
because of what was going on this year. We could
have still raised money for HBCU and all that, but
um to miss one time, and I know a lot
of the guys weren't happy about it, so I I
could have said a hard pass on this one. For
one year. I realized I'm not gonna be able to
sell you on this. Is there anything I can add
to it? You need like a satellite radio in there?

(04:43):
Or can I put some I don't know, new tires
on the car? Is there anything I can do that
would make you enjoy this All Star Game? Anyboybe if
I if I can have like a thing in front
of me like they do for who wants to be
a millionaire when you ask for, you know, help from
the audience. I want to be able to like all
the plays or who gets to shoot the shot or
something like that. Then you're gonna give me a little interaction.

(05:04):
Then I'm okay with it, But after that I wasn't
for me. Man, Well then I will quit trying to
sell it to you. When all All Star Game conversations
will now be between Leadal Lap, Bobo Steve de Sagan.
I don't really know how much more we can talk about.
What do you what are you gonna say about it exactly?
I mean there's a lot we can say more positive

(05:25):
stuff than you saying. I mean, dude, I'm not even
kidding you, Bobo. I had the worst attitude when this
thing started. I sounded just like going you. I was like,
nobody wants to be here. Thing sucks, why are we
doing it? And then as soon as they ticked it off,
it was awesome. I'm in the competition. You guys are
in the show. Okay, that's the difference, but I mean,

(05:45):
let's win. Let's win. You're let's in the shoot half
court shots with a hook shot. That's not what stop.
But it was a good game, like it was they
actually played. It was competitive towards it, and it always is, Like,
if you think about it, all Star games, it three
pointers and dunks and l that's really much all it is.
So you gotta know what you're getting for getting when

(06:06):
you get there. Now to all the dunk contest was
god awful. I'll just say that, like, oh my god,
I've seen Toddler's dunk on dunk on the fixture tight
uh the chords better than what I saw today. But
other than that, man, I was entertained. It was a
good game. It was good watching him hit them half
court shots in Dame. Let's have MTV rules where you

(06:27):
have like fifteen points from half chord and stuff talking.
I was thinking about that, like put them like a
fourth like I have in the UH and ice Cube
League in the Big Three, put the four point on
the thing. If you make it from half court, it's like,
you know, maybe five points or something. That would be
dope two point basket that they used to have and
the old what's what was it called jock jams, rock

(06:47):
jock whatever it was. But I'm here right right, look,
there we go. I'm starting to find ways to get
you excited again about the All Star Game right now.
This is gonna be a night where I feel like
I'm gonna have to sell you on a lot of
things because you seem a little grumpy. You you're not
into the All Star Game. And just to kind of
break down the fourth wall here, Arnie and I share

(07:08):
text and notes throughout the day, and I found it
interesting that in the notes of topics that Arnie wants
to get into an Aaron Torres or buddy from here
on Fox Sports Radio at Aaron Underscore Tores on Twitter,
great podcast, Solid college basketball guy. I noticed as we
try to talk a little a little bit about college
basketball that in your let's see one to three about

(07:30):
fifth bullet point, you say I still am not in
on college basketball? Still doesn't feel right. I think it's
the best way you put it to you. Are you
feeling right about this? Heck? Yeah, man, do not stop it.
If Arizona was a one seed or a two seed,

(07:51):
or three or four or five, Arizona sixth seed. But
if Arizona was playing well, this would be the greatest
season you've ever experienced. No, I would not. First of all, Chris,
the lack of fans have really made this sport suffer.
I think if anybody suffered more, Um, I can't think
of it. It's college basketball. I go college football a

(08:12):
little bit, but we we still had crowds. College basketball
needs the fans, and we don't have that too. I mean,
my goodness, I can't even keep track who's playing how
many games out there? Uh? And and yeah maybe it
was my Arizona Wildcats around, my Vermont Catamounts around. Uh.
It's just so hard to tell who's doing what this year. Um,
we're not gonna get some of the blue bloods. I

(08:34):
think Duke probably gets in, but um or Duke doesn't
get it, but Michigan State does, Kentucky forget about it.
So it's it's gonna really lack some big, big time
names out there. Yeah, and I'm gonna be very interested
to see what that does for TV ratings. I've decided
I'm gonna try not to care about so much because

(08:56):
I started digging this week to to really tell us,
all right, filling for Jason Martin last night. So I
was trying to tell a story about how bad the
TV ratings are for the NBA and how much trouble
it is. And then I went went back for like
the last fifteen years. There's an article written every single
year about how the NBA's TV ratings suck, and I'm
just like, Okay, well, I guess we're beating a dead
horse on that front. But on the college basketball side, Arnie,

(09:17):
I think what's interesting to me is just the buzz.
You know, what's the talk gonna be like? Is it?
Is it gonna dominate our airwaves? Share on Fox Sports Radio, right?
I mean next Sunday night, you and I will sit
here for the field of sixty eight unveiling and we'll
probably ask Aaron to come back on with us next
week and kind of go through the brackets. But and

(09:37):
on Monday, the official start of the tampering period for
the National Football League free agency begins. And y'all know
how addicted I am to free agency conversations on national radio.
I can't help but wonder if does the buzz get
And of the schedule is different. There's no Thursday games
that that's the That's another thing. I mean, the playing
games are a little bit later. The first round is

(09:59):
on Friday's, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. It's all in one state.
There is gonna be limited fans out there. I usually
love the conference tournaments. I eat this stuff up. I
haven't been into it as much as I haven't in
the last couple of years. Is it six eight? And
what about the four that were supposed to have on
the side in case people get sick? Did they get
picked up? Two? Is that gonna be announced? I don't

(10:20):
even know anymore? What the hell is going on? Do
you ignore Aaron on Saturday nights like you ignore me
on Saturday sometimes? But because I was asking, he was
on with Bernie Fratto whenever you guys wrapped up your
show last night, and he explained that, and I just
found it fascinating that basically, I mean, if I'm understanding
this correctly, and we'll clarify it with with Aaron when

(10:40):
he joins us coming up next. But let's say hypothetically,
Duke is one of those four teams that they say,
all right, you're gonna be stand by Blue Devils or whatever,
and they're the first team, and let's say Gonzaga has
COVID issues, Gonzaga is out in Duke's in as a one.
I mean, is that is this? Let's say one of
those teams is I don't know, a slut St. Louis

(11:03):
University Billikins who are truly on the bubble. And let's
say one of the teams that drops out is UH
an eight seed like Oklahoma. Do they automatically become an
eight or a sixth seed or what I mean. It's
just it seems as if it could really benefit you
if you missed the tournament, aren't you could end up
getting a higher seed that you could ever imagine. And
and those teams do they go to the bubble also

(11:24):
they just quarantined at home and then they fly to Indiana.
I'm not even sure how that works. And then that's
the last thing we were worried about. I mean, there's
so many different and why did they have to change
the days. I'm not liking this whole new thing, and
it's throwing everything out of whack, you know, Arnie, we
finally agree on something. It took us finally, it took

(11:45):
us thirteen minutes. But of all the things that are
gonna be out of whack for me, even though we
missed the n C Double A Tournament last year, and
we were sad, and you and I sat here on
that Sunday night it was gonna be selection Sunday, and
we were all depressed. I mean, We're still gonna be
even more confused when Thursday rolls around and it's eleven
am Central time, twelve Eastern, You're like, where's my basketball?

(12:07):
Why is it being played right now? You know? I
gotta say two of the best things that we have
about the tournament are are being taken away. One is
the fans, and obviously there'll be an a limited what
is I think, but it's still not the same thing,
you know, especially when you get the whole school going,
and the whole crowd and and and and you know,
the whole cheering goes on. Um, you know, you get

(12:29):
that taken away, and it's just an absolutely just kills
the whole thing, you know what I mean, And it
destroys it, and it takes away from the upsets. I think.
I think that's also what we're gonna be missing. I
don't think there's gonna be as many upsets as as
we expect because of the lack of the crowd. All Right,
we're gonna hang out with Aaron Torres coming up here
in just a bit. We're gonna talk all things college basketball.

(12:50):
As we are a week away from the start of
the n C Double A Tournament. The all Star Game
has just wrapped up. Team Lebron wins. Jannice is there
is your m v P and real quick before we
grab our initial time out on the show, and I
know we gotta be quick here. We're gonna go more
in depth as this program rolls on this evening, Arnie,
did we learn anything on the quarterback movement front this

(13:11):
past week? I mean it seemed like it and when
you had a few reports out of Seattle and I
don't know, Seattle is not shopping him, but they're making
phone calls, which isn't not shopping him. Where are we
right now? What did we learn this last week in
the quarterback carousel? Anything? Oh? Yeah, absolutely? What are you
kid me? I think we learned a lot about the
Shan Watson and what the Texans put out about what

(13:33):
they planned to do. So I'm sure, well, I don't know,
we don't have a lot of time. I'm sure we'll
get into that a little bit later. I think we
have a feel on what the Jeds are gonna do
with Sam Darnal and at least also what the um
your Raiders are gonna do about Marcus Mariota. We know
what Washing's done with with Alex Smith out there, we went,
what did the Houston Texans say they were gonna do
with Watson? They haven't said anything except for the trading him. Right. Well,

(13:57):
they said that they're prepared to let him sit out
the entire year. Okay, there you go. That's nothing new though, right,
they've kind of been well, yeah, I thought that was now.
They came out with a statement say, well, we'll let
him sit out the entire year. I'm going BS. But
he said he'll sit out the entire year, and I'm
saying BS, I'm not too so somebody, somebody's got the

(14:17):
cave to it. We'll see which one does, all right,
when we come back to the Farmer's Insurance, Fox Sports
Radio Studios all those topics and our man arrant tourists

the NBA All Star Games until we get to tonight.
Janice was the m v P. But let's let's kick
off Championship week. March Madness in full swing. Our buddy
Aaron Torres joins us you hear him Saturday nights with

(15:45):
Arnie span your little vs in Work this week and
of course the Erin Torres podcast. Uh A T we
got conference tournaments this weekend looks like everything's gonna go
pretty smooth so far, right, what's your biggest I guess
COVID can certain as we try to play out in
the March madness. Oh, my biggest COVID concern, Well, one

(16:06):
team that doesn't have any COVID concerns Arizona, that's for sure,
they're But other than them, no, I mean, you know,
I will say, Look, there was at least one team
that I know of, not related to n c A
sanctions that did have their season canceled on a COVID pause,
which was Holy Cross last week. You know, playing my
my obviously, the biggest concern is is, you know, could

(16:29):
somebody have an outbreak? Um? You know, I went out
with Bernie Fratto last night after Ernie and I got
off air, and I talked about a lot of this
and we can get into it if you want. Um.
I do believe that the way the n c A
has set up the tournament, it is very likely that
we will be safe from a major you know, from
a team being eliminated, but it doesn't stop the conference
tournaments from getting you know kind of uh disrupted or whatever.

(16:52):
And so my, my, my just hope is that we
get to the finish line. We all love college football,
the three of us, we basically got the national champ
being that we should have the four teams in the
playoff that we should have. And I just hope that
a Gonzaga, Baylor, of Michigan and Illinois whoever, doesn't have
any major issues that will compromise this championship. You know,
tours with with some of the blue blood is not

(17:13):
gonna be in this tournament. Do you think the n
c A Selection committee uh shunned somebody like a Drake
or a Belmont and say no, we need some bigger
names or already down some big names. We've got to
get some bigger names, or that doesn't play anything into this. Well,
I'll tell you this, Arnie. Uh, this comes from planks
area of the country. Uh it You know, there's a

(17:34):
lot of people Oklahoma State, Uh, it was supposed to
have an n c A tournament ban this year. They
appealed it, and the n c A hasn't responded to
their appeal. And and there's a lot of people that
think that the n c hasn't responded to their appeal
because it just so happens that Oklahoma State has the
potential number one pick in next year's NBA draft or

(17:55):
this year's NBA draft. Kate Cunningham, I don't know if
that's true, but there's a lot of speculation about that.
Arn'tie and when Duke isn't gonna be in this thing,
Kentucky isn't gonna be in this thing. Uh. North Carolina
probably is in, but probably should win their conference tournament
opener to get in. UM. I do think that it's
going to be interesting to see what viewership is like

(18:17):
and all that stuff. But uh, listen, I think once
we get those sixty eight teams, really it's gonna be
seventy two this year, honestly because there's some teams on standby. Uh,
it's gonna go off. It's gonna be fun. We're gonna
fill out brackets. We're gonna, you know, place wagers in
states that you can wager legally, and I think we'll
have a good ton Aaron, you mentioned this last night

(18:38):
and it blew me away. So you're telling me one
of these four teams that are on standby, let's just
say hypothetically do all right, not Duke, excuse me. Michigan
has COVID issues again and has to shut down, one
of these four teams would then just slide into the
one seat and there wouldn't be receding take place. So yeah, Plank,

(18:58):
let me, let me restructure the this and and for
the obviously the new audience, and let me explain, and
this is my understanding of it, and I've read and
re read and talk to people. Basically, when we get
our bracket next week, there will be the traditional sixty
eight teams and there will essentially be four teams that
are basically going to be on standby for the first
forty eight hours after the n c A tournament bracket

(19:21):
is revealed. And so let's just use Duke as an example.
I don't think they'll be one of those four teams,
but let's just say they are. They will go back
to Durham and for lack of a better term, and
I hate to say this because I don't think they
would want to put this way, but they're gonna sit
around and wait to see if anybody catches the virus
and what happens then. And at that point, if a
team were to catch the virus and they couldn't put

(19:43):
five players on the court, um, then the n c
A will sub in one of these four teams for
whomever you know wouldn't be ineligible for the tournament. But
the catches, and it's the point that you're bringing up Plank,
they will not receive the tournament. So Duke, which would
in theory be to sixty nine or seventy team in
the n c A tournament, if Michigan gets COVID and

(20:05):
can't participate as a one seed, the n c A
is just going to slide Duke in as a one seed.
And the reason being that I think they they feel like,
you know, brackets are gonna start getting filled out on Monday. Obviously,
bets will be made, and they don't want to have
to redo the bracket a second, third, fourth time and

(20:26):
shake that thing up. And so yes, uh, if a Baylor,
if a Michigan cannot participate, we're gonna see a team
that's you know, fifteen and thirteen slid into the bracket
as the number one tea. Now, let me just say
something really quick. The good news is I believe that
the way the n c A has set up it's
travel and it's it's launching. I don't think we'll see

(20:46):
teams removed from the tournament and what I mean by
that is this, as far as travel is concerned, I
mean there's extra planes, extra buses. Did the arena. Uh,
players will all have their own hotel rooms, with the
idea being that there will be no contact tracing, so
everyone will be further than six ft apart, and there
won't be any issues where if Chris Plank catches the virus,
it doesn't mean that Artie Spanier and Artoris can't play

(21:09):
that following Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, whatever. Um So, so
that's the hope from the n c A A. But yes, Chris,
as you laid it out, absolutely, if Michigan catches COVID,
whoever is the first team out of the tournament then
becomes the number one seed, which is absolutely insane. Yeah,
but that's only for the first round. Right after that,
it's if you're if you can't play, it's a it's

(21:30):
a forfeit, right, they're they're not You're not gonna be
uh bring up brought in for the final four anything
like that. Yeah, let me take it a set. Let
me I'll take it even a further already. I I
use forty eight hours because my understanding is it will
be forty eight hours after the bracket is revealed. So
if Michigan were to have a COVID outbreak on Friday
morning before they're open, or Duke Ain't getting on a

(21:53):
plane at you know, six thirty am and playing at
you know, two pm or anything like that, it would
only be with it within the forty eight hours of
the bracket being revealed. After that, it would just be
simply what what we're calling a forfeit. I would also
add on the positive, hopefully this doesn't happen spectrum um.
I said this on Bernie Show last night, and it's true.

(22:14):
The n c A has mandated you only need five
healthy players to play. So if a Baylor in Oklahoma,
my alma mater, Yukon, if they do have that outbreak
but they have five or six people that didn't catch it,
the n c A will tell Yukon, hey, you gotta
take the four for your first round game with five guys,

(22:34):
and you better hope they don't follow out because that's
the rules. So that is the n c a's rule.
If you have five players, you can play. But yes,
to your point, already, after forty eight hours, teams would
simply move on in the bracket. Uh, they're want to
be receding or new new teams in the tournament at
that point. And I know this is a hard thing
to try to figure out last one for me, but

(22:57):
I love thinking about sleepers and I know it's all
about matchup who we need to look at the brackets.
But could this be another season where Sister Gean is
in the spotlight again in loyal or Chicago can make
a run? Man? I sure hope not. I was kind
of overheard by the end of the last tournament. Let
me tell you I was at that final four Jay
Wright won another national championship. I saw more Sister Gine

(23:17):
on my TV. But you know, listen, I mean one, yes,
they were whatever they finished twenty four and four or whatever. Um.
I do think Plank. I think that the last couple
of weeks where we've seen a lot of teams, you know,
Evan Flow, I do think that's going to be what
happens once teams get to Indianapolis. Is I do think
those elite, elite, elite teams are gonna be okay. But

(23:38):
I would say that from my perspective, what I think
is gonna be interesting is I think it's gonna be
about matchups. I also think it's gonna be a battle
of mental attrition. You know, when I look back at
that NBA bubble um, you know, Lebron James came out
and said that that was one of the hardest things
I ever had to do, was to keep focused for
two months being away from friends, family, basically locked up

(23:59):
in a hotel room. Well, these guys, you know, even
in the bubble, those guys were able to play golf,
they were able to play tennis, These basketball players, for
lack of a better term, it's gonna be practice, game,
hotel room, and nothing else in between. So I do think,
I listen, I don't want to get too far down
the road without having a bracket in front of us.
But I I suspect that it's going to be one
of those elite teams that wins it all. But I

(24:21):
also do think that I would I wouldn't be surprised
if there are some major upsets early to two seeds,
three seeds, four seeds, blues and day one day, two
days three. Things like that. You're awesome, Aaron, It's a
big week. Have fun with it. Maybe we'll get a
chance to chatting with you again next Sunday night, but
I know you'll be counting down the next Saturday night
with Annie. We can't wait, Bud. Thank you guys for

(24:42):
having me my favorite week of the year. Enjoy guys,
thank you, We will, We will. Man. I'm last night.
I I was listening before I filled in for Jason Mark.
He got me fired up. Dude, you guys got me
fired up for the n c Double A tug out.
To get myself fired up. Then, yeah, I know you're
the You're the outsider. Let's go Liberty. You know who
else is fired up? Steve the Sager to get us

(25:03):
caught up on everything going on in the world of sports.
What's going on? Steve? Hello, gentlemen. Although Arnie made a
couple of good points about what what we like about
the tournament, that's not going to be in this year's tournament,
let me just clarify that Aaron is absolutely correct in
the n c a's own words. Replacement teams will only
be introduced to the tourney this year within forty eight

(25:25):
hours after they announced the field. At no time after
the forty eight hours, So next Sunday, six pm Eastern time,
it's selection Sunday, we'll find out the brackets. Who's where.
Once the bracket is released, no receding, no change in
the brackets, and once the tournament begins, no replacement teams
come in. And they're gonna have too many stand alone
games too. I love the overlap. We live for the overlap.

(25:47):
Don't wait. That was the best part, which is my
which is my point exactly for starters, I'm gonna be
missing Thursday morning basketball because the tourney, the Grand Tournament,
is going to start on a Friday morning. They're only
going to have those first four games on a Thursday
a night March eighteen. And then once we get to
the Sweet sixteen. You know, in the past, the regional
semifinal games took place all in prime time, so you

(26:08):
had games overlapping against each other on separate channels. This year,
all the Sweet sixteen games will be played at separate times.
Does nobody in the n c A remember that won
the second round would start on the weekend, that we'd
have a couple of standalone games, and if you had
a dud, you were kind of tapping your watch saying
how soon till we actually get to games on at

(26:30):
the same time? I can't stand this. Well, the whole
Sweet Sixteen is gonna be on a weekend, the final
weekend of March, and it's all standalone games. So that
to me is a huge risk that if they have
a dud, people are going imaginative they have back to
back dud's. People are gonna be waiting four hours for
an actual good game, and that's only in the Sweet
sixteen round. My goodness. NBA All Star Game was tonight

(26:52):
in Atlanta and the final score one seventy to one fifty.
Team Lebron Takes. At the game, m v P was
Janni's attendant Coompa of Milwaukee. In nineteen minutes on the court,
he had thirty five points, sixteen of sixteen shooting from
the floor. Chris Paul sixteen assists, Joel em Beat and
Ben Simmons were out tonight due to contact tracing. Blake
Griffin agreed to a deal with the Brooklyn Nets after

(27:14):
clearing waivers today. He was bought out by Detroit on Friday.
Griffin's only averaging twelve points per game this year. Kawhi
Leonard said he's planning to play for the US in
the Olympics this summer. And the Spurs. Greg Popovich is
the US coach. Now. The basketball tournament is due to
start in late July in Tokyo. Team USA training camp
would be in Las Vegas starting around July the one.

(27:35):
In college basketball, the regular season ended tonight on FS
one Oregon clinch first place in the Pac twelve with
a win at rival Oregon State eighty to sixty seven.
As for conference tournaments, app State just beat Coastal Carolina
in overtime sixty sixty one, and that was the last
game going tonight, so that was a conference semifinal for

(27:57):
the Sun Belt. It'll be app State against Georgia State
in their final semifinal. Wins in the Southern Conference for
Mercer and u n C Greensboro and three conference championship
games today. Yes, Liberty is going to the n c
A as we didn't know that before the game because
their opponent in the final is not yet eligible for
the n c A tournament. They are quote transitioning into

(28:18):
Division one n c A. Okay, Loyal in Chicago won
its conference title Winthrop as well, and number two Michigan
lost again. Now they had already clinched first place in
the Big Ten, but remember they lost badly this past
week to Illinois, and Michigan lost at Michigan State today
seventy to sixty four. So, as you mentioned earlier in
the show, the Spartans might be getting into the tournament

(28:39):
even though they went nine and eleven in conference this year.
They teams get in some conference that's happened before the
big conferences, you bet. And they can also tack on
a couple of wins next week in their conference, Attorney, perhaps,
But fifteen and eleven overall for the Spartans. They're trying
for a twenty three straight n C Double A tournament appearance.
Texas and Baylor each one nine. Frank Houston hit a

(29:01):
three at the buzzer to beat Memphis sixty seven sixty four.
Iowa edged Wisconsin seventy seven seventy three, and the NHL
the Islanders won their fifth straight Carolina won its fifth
straight game. Kyle Larson was the NASCAR winner at Vegas.
Bryson d. Shambo took the Arnold Palmer Invitational by one stroke.
Back to you, thanks Steve, as we come to you
live tonight from the Farmers Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios.

(29:24):
Call one eight eight Farmers and you could save a
bundle you switch on your auto insurance today. I I
think I'm falling for a photo shop tweet here boys, well,
because I'm gonna send it to you everyone here and
a this is really good radio, by the way, to
tell you guys, and I'm sending you a group text.
But apparently Russell Wilson was at the Stanford U c

(29:49):
l A women's basketball game, and there is what appears
to be a pretty solid photoshop of him wearing a
San Francisco forty ninersody. I couldn't even get it out
of my mouth. But oh my, we're we're so good

(30:10):
at faking pictures anymore. I'm looking at this and I'm thinking, huh.
I think East Bay Chris on Twitter nearly got me
on that funny how funny? Um? Well, I know one
thing that wasn't photoshop because we do the show on
Sunday night and I couldn't do the TNT inside the NBA.
They got Rob Parker to do it so they would

(30:32):
only take one person from Fox Sports Radio. And that's it.
Because I was on the I'm on the air. It's
not live, it's a tape thing. I'm on the air.
It's that gonna be your excuse that they well they
never called me, but I'm pretty sure they would have
called me if they knew I wasn't on the air,
So in your mind, you would have been the slam

(30:56):
dunk guy. Absolutely, So doubt what what would have been.
I don't know what would you have had to say.
I don't know whatever they were at. I didn't get
to hear it. Just people are uh texting into us,
so I didn't. I didn't get to hear what what
Rob was talking about, but I'm sure I would have
done a great job. Also that U c l a Dodger.
Frank writes they got Rob Parker for the TNT special

(31:18):
on Inside the NBA when Arnie is clearly the bigger
FSR person. So I couldn't agree with that more. And
then my my other favorite tweet of the night came
from Let's see where's Peter? Uh? Peter right? Stinking genius
one is the most entertaining host on Fox Sports Radio.
The stiffs that he works with our anchors to his

(31:38):
blow away talent. Never a truer tweet, never let me
hit you know what, let me hit the like button
on that I may retweet that. Let me, I think
you might look at his timeline before you start retweeting
things from Peter. Oh, I just retweeted and I shouldn't
have retweeted that. I don't know. I'm just kidding a
couple of other good tweets. By the way, that's the
best way to stay in touch with the show tonight

(31:59):
is to hit up and in every night on Twitter
at Stinking Genius one. That's Arnie. I'm at Plank Show. Uh,
and everybody should be following us at Fox Sports Radio.
But Bill may have the text of the night are
tweeted the night. Excuse me, And we're only thirty eight
minutes into the show. Do you see this one? The
Michigan basketball team will play in Lucas Oil Stadium, unlike

(32:19):
the football team, and Jim Harball has failed to achieve.
Is Michigan now a basketball school? Talk amongst yourselves to that,
of course it's a basketball school. No, they want they
lost three. Uh, Michigan has lost two of its last
three because they they sandwiched in that win against Michigan

(32:41):
State before they got beat by him again today, Arnie,
I'm a college basketball expert. Now, I don't know if
you realize this, but listen to your show. Last night,
I heard Aaron on with Bernie and then I stayed
up and I and I watched college basketball while doing
the Jason Martin Show. And it's all I've been talking
about all day today. I'm sorry, I'm an expert. Now,
don't question Michigan. I'm hoping that we do get a

(33:05):
lot of upsets. And even though I think, you know,
taking away the fans are having a limited fans kind
of hurts it. But I'm hoping we do. But that's
what's that's the best part of the tournament. And gosh,
I just missing the kids go to the games and
all that. It's gonna take away so much from from
the viewing experience. I mean, it takes away from the
conference tournaments, you know, when you you have buzzer beaters

(33:26):
and a half court winners and the fans don't get
to go crazy over it. You know. Yeah, I'm having
a tough time coming to grips with how it's going
to affect the games because i mean, I've I've been
in some of those environments and it's they can make
some noise, and I've been in those environments where You're like,
this place is empty, So I'm gonna be very interested

(33:47):
already to see what that looks like. Uh, do we
maybe when they get out of the first couple of rounds,
do we seek capacity increase a little bit? I don't know,
as vaccine continues to make the rounds, but I M
going to at the forty minute mark of the show
tonight agree with you on the effect that fans have
had on college basketball. I give the time check because

(34:10):
I'm pretty sure I'm gonna change my mind at some point.
But and it's funny because every so often you remind
yourself you stop, You're like, there's nobody there, and it's
it's just it's shocking. You don't really see it because
everyone's so spaced out, and the benches have started to
become a little bit more entertaining, and and I think
a lot of those college kids are seeing the NBI's

(34:33):
get into it all right, excusing the NBA guys get
into it on the bench. So at the very least, already,
I mean, you're seeing, you're seeing the bench trying to
make it entertaining. But you're right, I don't know if
there's a sport that's been more affected without fans than basketball, well,
the specifically college basketball. That will change real fast. UM,
at least the view of the game when we have

(34:55):
and I don't even know if does that mean there's
gonna be upper level or lower level? Can we spread
out just to the lower level, which I think is
what they're going to try to do, um, But at
least we'll have a different angle from it. The second
was getting old, you know, with the black tarp over
the first couple of rows and the team spread out
like every other seat. We were gonna have to take
a different angle at this. Well, I think they're trying

(35:16):
to be as smart as they can, possibly be safely
as they can. But I'm with you. I'm with you
all right when we come back to the Farmers and Assurance.
Fox Sports Radio Studios really good tweets to start this show,
including some perspective on where the Cowboys are with Dak
Prescott and what did we learn in the quarterback carousel
this week we'll dive into it next with already in
Plank on Fox Sports Radio. I can't, I gotta get

(35:40):
off this East Bay Chris's Twitter page, it's just cracking
me up. I was I I retweeted the the photo
shop up Russell Wilson where in the San Francisco forty
Niners hoodie because I just laughed so hard at it.
But yeah, it's uh, it's already in plank on a
Fox or Sunday. I still think he's gonna be traded.

(36:02):
I don't think he's gonna play this year for Seattle.
Who blinks first? That's kind of my question in all
of this. And and I don't know, if I mean honestly, Arnie,
I don't know if I maybe I've heard the Ben
Mallard promo too much, maybe maybe doing the Overnight Show,
it's been ingrained in my mind. But he's this like
this wild game of Chicken where someone's got a flinch,

(36:25):
or someone's got to say hey, I'm sorry, are someone's
got to say hey, you're right? I mean, is that
where we are saga? I don't know. But if someone's
gonna flinch first, I think it's gonna be Seattle, because
I really think that Russell Wilson wants to leave so
um to him, he'll doesn't make a difference. I'll just
sit there hopefully get traded, or I'll keep listening off

(36:47):
teams he'll go to or he'll end up playing there.
But I don't I don't really believe that he gets
along with Pete Carroll any more. He wants to be gone. Um.
You know, I've I've become a firm believer that nobody
wants to go to the Jets. Sorry, Jason Smith, but
everyone wants in front offices to trade their guys to
the Jets. You know why, because the Jets have all
the picks. So no one wants to go. No one

(37:10):
wants to go there and and and play. But if
you're someone in the front office, you're like, yeah, hey,
don't you want to go to the Jets because they've
got what eleven picks in the first three rounds over
the next two years. So if I'm the Seahawks or
the Texans in this instance, I'm trying to persuade these
guys who want to go to the Jets. But Arnie,
I've I've probably over thought, over talked about, over analyze

(37:36):
this list from Russell Wilson. It doesn't make any sense
to me, right, I Mean, I get the Cowboys, they
have weapons, but they also have dak And I kind
of get the Saints, but listen, I love the Raiders,
the Raiders, the Bears. The Raiders has to be what
all about gruten and the Bears? What naggy? Is that

(37:57):
what you think? I guess so? But it if you're
wanting to go to a place where you want to
win championships, right, you're in a spot to where this
Do you know what the Seahawks record was this year?
Twelve and four, twelve and four. This is a twelve
and four football team. We're talking about him as if

(38:18):
they're four and twelve, right, I mean, you're, I mean,
you're you're absolutely right. Why would you want to leave
Seattle to win the championship somewhere else where those teams
aren't championship caliber? Would be like Tom Brady leaving the
Patriots to go to Tampa. Oh wait that wait a minute.
That's a bad example. But go ahead, you continue. Bad.
That's a bad point. My my bad, Sorry about that. Well,

(38:38):
you have said Tom Brady in a bunch of mediocre players,
and that's not the case. And what's going on in Tampa.
Tampa's got a really good defense. I understand the Bears
have a really good defense, but I mean, do you
could you see a Tom Brady like turn around with
the Raiders. Absolutely, I could. I think the Bears are
right where um Tampa was the year before. A matter

(38:59):
of fact, Apple's up five hundreds. The Bears are five hundred.
They've got a pretty good defense in a in a
division where really you have to worry about Aaron Rodgers
and who knows how long he'll be there. Are you're
really worried about Minnesota Detroit? The answers no, so I
can see why it goes there. And plus, of course
he wants to leave Seattle. He wants to play in
the United States, so you know, maybe he wants to
go ahead and be a little bit like within a

(39:20):
five hour telephone ride of someplace other than Seattle. Up
there where so isolated for crying out loud, you might
want to take that one back on. And that's one
of our big time affiliates. I don't want, I love,
I love, I love to say that it's kind of isolated,
you know that, right? I just I guess my thought
is in in Brady's unique We can't compare everything to
Tom Brady. It's just it's it's not real life. It's

(39:42):
it's he's a cyborg. That's been created by something that's
not of this earth. So yeah, tom Brady did well.
Yeah tom Brady has also got with six seven rings
right now, it doesn't matter, it's it's unique. Not everything
is going to end up like Tom Brady. Russell Wilson
was mad when he was at the Super Bowl. I hope,
so I hope every player who had to go to
the Super Bowl and their team wasn't playing and it

(40:02):
was mad too. But I don't think Russell Wilson is
going to turn the Raiders into the Buccaneers from I
just I don't know. I I think your best chance
to win a Seattle is is of these teams that
he's given, and I think that's where he's gonna have
his best opportunity to be successful. Which I completely disagree. Uh.

(40:23):
And they they team could easily go ted and said
if they were a Nate, what would they have been
with Russell Wilson last year ten and six, UM eleven
and five, and that certainly would have been a super
Bowl caliber team. They were twelve and four in Seattle
and the only reason they lost their wild card game
is because he played like crap. All right, When we

(40:44):
come back to the Farmer's Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios.
We'll have more on the Russell Wilson saga and the
latest news this week on what the next step for
the Houston Texans is Todd Ferman as well our one
in the book, Our two coming up next. It's already
a plank on Fox Sports Radio. Oh let's go, let's go,

(41:04):
let's go. Let's go our too. It's already a plank
on Fox Sports Radio. You know, it's been great tonight, Arnie.
The tweets, tweets a lot, fantastic. Yeah, it's been fun.
I I did want to give a big shout out
this I this East Bay Chris guy. I think he's
become my favorite new follow on Twitter. I can't stop
laughing at his tweets. And I can't stop laughing at

(41:25):
that photoshop that When I first saw it, I was
so excited to tell you guys that Russell Wilson wasn't
a forty niners igin If that was true? How, oh
my goodness, if that was Oh my goodness, Lee, Lee.
How bad was the photoshop though that I fell for? Yeah,
it's a pretty darn noticeable. You can tell right away.

(41:46):
That's like putting a six pack abs on my picture.
It's like, hey, look, any lass way, how about that?
I was so excited when I first saw it. I
don't think there's any amount of photoshop to make that.
Wo oh man. Anyway, we'd come to you live here
at Arnie Plank on Fox Sports Radio from the Farmers
Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios. That's right, Call one eight

(42:10):
eight Farmers to switch in. You could save on your
auto insurance. What else are you gonna do with your
phone for the next few minutes, We'll get pictures of
food your friends. Eight again, call one, eight and eight
Farmers for a quote. We are farmers. We all have
fallen for fake photo shops, right, I mean, come on,
sports talk bag has got us with the with the

(42:32):
fake tweet every now and then. I was so fired
up to go, oh my gosh, because I listened last
night when I filled in for Jason Martin. I was
making fun of the story about how dare Kyler Murray
wearing Oakland A's hat and right, so the overly dramatic
NFL reporters had to say, well, this is a sign

(42:54):
that he really wants to play baseball. Maybe it's a
sign that he likes the hat, that the hat fits him. Okay,
there doesn't have to be a story with everything. And
yet here I am with this horrific photo shop of
Russell Wilson, ready to go all in that we have
ourselves our next great controversy. Great would that have been right?

(43:15):
I would have loved that and we would have been
ripping him by crazy. And there was our rumors about
Jimmy Garoppolo going back to the Patriots. So everything I
was already doing to mine. Oh, everything's kind of fitting
in the place right now, it's all starting to come together.
I will say I have appreciated now that we've reached
the point, speaking of quarterbacks, we've reached the point in

(43:36):
the draft season, Arnie, where now not only do people
regularly tell you that there's a quarterback better than Trevor Lawrence,
now we've reached a point where a quarterback who couldn't
win with the best offensive line in college football consistently
in Kellen Mond, is now being ranked ahead a first
round pick. So welcome to the lunacy stage of NFL draft.

(43:57):
When remember when Kyle Trask was the first round and
I was like a third rounder or something. I just
it makes no sense, it never has to be, but
we'll continue to follow it. Okay, I'm not gonna be
able to sell you on the All Star Game tonight.
There's nothing I can do that's gonna change your mind
about this one. Or no. No, that's probably why they
didn't have me on and had Rob Parker on instead. Uh.
Does Blake Griffin to the Nets do anything for you? Yeah?

(44:20):
It means the Nets win at all. Okay, Um, have
you watched Blake Griffin play this year? Yeah? Yeah, no,
dunkson is what as many shot at tips he has,
But that's just another piece of the puzzle. Remember he's
the lebron stopper. Let's be honest. I told you last
week that Brooklyn's the best team in the East. Now
that's just confirms they're the best team in the East.
Will be in the finals. They'll take on probably the Lakers,

(44:43):
maybe the Clippers. Um, I know Utah has been pretty good,
but whatever. Um, but Brooklyn's going to win it all
when it gets all said done. Now, it's a done deal.
It's over ov e R. So in other words, I
don't have to watch the NBA anymore. No, I told
you that you you played this game with me last week,
and I said, yeah, it's done, so we shouldn't even
talk about it then, is what you're saying. If you

(45:03):
want to talk about the next year, the following year
in my New York Knicks, I just want to play that.
I just want to make the playoffs. I'm I'm getting
excited just to make the playoffs. Doesn't matter. Season's over
and Nets already won it all. That's why you disagree.
What are you gonna tell me Philadelphia, where's Boston's gonna
come alive? Who you know? Who are gonna take out
of the Eastern Conference. Well, listen, I hate to be
a literal a whole, but you can't guarantee anything. It's

(45:25):
going to slam dunk happen right now, because at least
ten times last year you guarantee the Clippers championship and
they couldn't get past the Nuggets. And when Rajon Rondout
got hurt, you guaranteed that the Lakers weren't I think
even going to make the playoffs. I did not say
that you're guarantees to me, you're a little bit hollow everyone.
But with that said, I'll play here. I think your

(45:45):
knicks not only make the playoffs. I think they want
to playoff series. So you better back off a little
bit on the nets going all the way because they've
got Julius Randall to deal with. And and did you
see your boy Obie Topping actually star an NBA court
and make a bucket? And the slam dunk competition? What
a shock? I saw the the dunk over there two
guys that he jumped over, which was pretty pretty cool.

(46:07):
But you getting guy. I had to put that on
my other TV. I had the Carson Wentz interview with Oprahn.
I was all into, very very love that I did.
He look so much like Carson to crack me up.
I won't lie. I won't lie. Alright, couple of quick
tweets here, they're all over you, Arenie. Uh this one
from the Span your Sectarians. Yes, apparently you have that.

(46:29):
You've you've spawned several fake Twitter accounts from the Span
your Sectarians to the Artie Spangler account that is checked
in regularly. Right your words regarding Seattle and Mr Unlimited
or wise, it must be awful to play on a
team with a generous, generous ownership family. An ultra elite

(46:51):
wide receiver executives who took a chance on you and
have a seven fifty winning percentage. Yeah, and and he
has a great point there. I question is do things
change once Paul Allen died left the team to his sister.
She's hands off. I don't know how much he was
hands off or um if he got involved with day
to day or some type of of the football operations.

(47:13):
It seems like Pete Carroll's running things. I don't really
know um who he reports too. So maybe that's bothering
Russell a little bit. Maybe that's one of the reasons
why he wants out. Um. Pete Carroll runs the show.
That's UH. I had a conversation earlier tonight with the
analysts on the Seattle Seahawks Network, and I was thinking

(47:34):
maybe John Schneider, because there has been rumors that he
could be UH moving on and and had been in
the mix for a couple of other GM jobs. But Arnie,
it seems like that Pete Carroll has a great relationship
with the new owner and she wants to be hands
off and it's basically Pete Carroll show. Maybe you're onto
something here. Maybe the fact that Pete running it is
something that Russell Wilson wants absolutely nothing to do with

(47:57):
He's got too much power. And if he's if it's
him running the team, what power does Russell Wilson have
just to call some plays on offense and run the offense,
which I think you should be allowed to anyway. But
that's beside the point. Um. I think he does want
to get out. I think there's something to this that
we just haven't heard yet. I'm sure we'll come out
and in due time, and I hope somebody at some

(48:19):
point jumps on my team that basically believes that you
have the Seahawks that are pushing a little bit as
well here too. Let's remember they tried to trade him,
or at least were rumored to be involved in trying
to trade into the Browns a few years ago. Justin
and since he writes the Bears have nowhere near the
same weapons as the Bucks, Arnie has ct Apparently, yeah's

(48:40):
gonna Evans on the Bears? Who's Chris got Okay, that's fine,
but you know what, the Tampa Bay brought in a
retired um certainly on his last leg, Rob Gronkowski, and
that wasn't really that much of a difference. There and
they brought in Antonio Brown, who, let's be honest, what
did he really do? He just was another piece to

(49:00):
a small piece to the puzzle. You're right, the defense
stepped up, It really stepped up the last three games
into the playoffs. I mean, they played great. It's the
way you can win on the road three playoff games.
So we gotta give them a lot of credit. But
as for the pieces, sure, they had some good receivers
they brought in. For Nette also so um to say
that the pieces were already there, that's not true. I

(49:22):
mean they brought in guys, but that they're all difference makers,
just little pieces of the puzzle. So he was saying
that Mike Evans and Chris Godwin being there aren't weapons
or even you know, they're tied. And O. J. Howard
was there, but he got deemed up this year. Ronald
Jones was there, aren't. That's a pretty good football team
and at a quarterback to three thirty picks last year

(49:44):
and they had they have tons more weapons Bears have
right now. The bears best wide receivers a free agent.
So that's that's whenever people start getting into with the Bears,
they can do with the Bucks can. Yeah, the Bears
have a pretty nice defense. But aren't you gonna have
to trade away at LEAs to Kalil Mack? Are real
quant No stop that don't don't play that game. They

(50:05):
they got a good defense. You'll you'll have some wine, uh,
some free agents to be able to sign up. You
don't think you're gonna have to trade a ro Kwan
Smith or Khalil Mac Again, that's not happening, so you know,
forget about it. Then who are you trading for? Russell Wilson.
I'm just giving up all my draft picks that you want.
I don't want until the year three thousand. I want

(50:26):
Killil Mack or roll Kwan Smith or Jalen Johnson or
all three? Stop dead. Did you see that one of
the trade proposals that our boy Peter King brought up
a couple of weeks ago was a seven for one
from the Panthers to the Houston Texans that involved Christian McCaffrey,
Robbie Anderson and maybe what Brian Burns. I mean, it's

(50:48):
it's gonna take some people to try to get a quarterback. Uh,
nature boy rights heard you on the show the other day,
dissing the NBA All Star Game. Good jobs, sir. If
they can't get more than two million people to watch,
don't bother with them. I've kind of one eight on that. Nature. Boy,
I won't lie to you. I thought the All Star
Game was fun. I've I've reached this point where, after
a lot of research, last night, ratings in the NBA

(51:11):
don't matter because every article that's been written about the
NBA All Star Game ratings, outside of like fifty of
them when they were up the opening weekend this season,
every other article about NBA ratings is about how they're
tanking and the league is in trouble. So I do
want to see who did better between the golf the
the race today in the NBA All Star Game. I'm

(51:31):
kind of curious how that pointed out. Well, if the
NBA All Star Game doesn't win in that trifecta, oh boy,
I mean it has to write, well, Cable the ones on,
cable ones on. You know, how's that going to affect everything?
I don't know, and I honestly don't know anyone that
doesn't have cable anymore. It just affects the numbers. I
don't know how much it does though who knows. And

(51:52):
then finally to wrap up some of the really good
tweets to this show. To kick off our number two,
Jason writes Arnie John Clayton is report warning that it
looks like Ryan Fitzpatrick will retire from the NFL after
limited interest in free agency. This makes me sad, no
more fits magic. You're gonna be okay without fits magic.

(52:13):
And you know, I thought he did such a great
job last job. I'm a little surprised about this because
still of all the uncertainty going on in the NFL
and what he says because of no interest, I thought
for sure the patients would have come calm. That would
have been one of the teams. I thought it would
have been first to pick up the telephone. Something shocked
that there wasn't a lot of interest, especially after what
he did for the Dolphins earlier in the season last year. Yeah,

(52:36):
but again I think that you know the I was
always the backup plan. I was never anyone's number one choice,
aren't I was always the second or third choice. I
wasn't blessed with your good looks and your bill, of
course not you were always the first choice. I was
about a third and maybe fourth choice. I think Ryan
Fitzpatrick has enough money, uh and has played enough to

(52:58):
where he doesn't want to be and he wants third
or fourth choice, and he's not going to be the
first person picked up in for you, sometimes there's nothing
wrong would be in the second choice, you know what
I mean? Check check you you saw that story how
Bezos his ex wife got remarried to a high school
science teacher. It's not a boat second marriage for this guy.

(53:18):
If you're asking me, you know, I would have found
her number as soon as I he's a high school teacher.
You know that about that And if you think about
it too. Not to get too bogged down on fits,
because I'd like to see him play a little bit more.
But maybe this is a situation to where you know,
he's played. He's played for what three, four or five,

(53:41):
like seven different teams. Maybe he's just tired of it.
He's made a lot of money. He's thirty eight years old.
He'll be thirty nine by the start of this season.
No offense to Ryan Fitzpatrick. I'm sure he's in great shape.
It doesn't look like he's been on the Brady plan
as far as physical fitness is. Concerned, So maybe he's
just done or or maybe it's a situation to where
as the season progresses, he has been a Josh McCollen

(54:03):
type situation where someone calls me stayed in shape and
he ends up coming in to help him out. So
I could certainly see if it's an emergency. What I
don't know if you could be an emergency quarterback because
of COVID, but theresainly would be used for something if
they were all that to happen. When we come back
to the Farmer's Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios, your tweets
have been great tonight. Will continue to roll with them,
but let's pause for a bit to talk with our

(54:25):
buddy Todd. Firm's coming up with Artie and Plank on
Fox Sports Radio Good Tunes tonight, Bobo lead a lap
running the show. Steve Di Sager on updates. He's the
stinking genius Arnie Spaniel. I'm Chris Plank. Were broadcasting live
tonight from the Farmer's Insurance. Fox Sports Radio Studios called
Farmers Today for a quote. Artie's picks coming up in

(54:45):
our final hour. Got a little buyer sell around the corner.
Are you okay? I mean, is this is really hurting
you without Arizona and the it's killing me and over
my catamounts too, So I'm I'm over now. It's Todd
Firm Enjoy Points is live from Vegas. I I'm sure
now the odds are swayed a little bit with no
Arizona this year. That hurts. But I think we hit

(55:08):
on this a little bit last week. But are you
expecting a big handle from March Madness this year, especially
after a year off and with things starting to come
to life and open up a little bit more. I
think we'll see a buzz there. There's no doubt about it.
In my mind, when you look at the way sports
gambling has grown, the amount of momentum that it's accruede.
Anytime you get a marquee event like this on the

(55:28):
calendar for people, it gives them that semblance of normalcy.
And while we're not going to see big time attendance,
whether it's the final four, the opening rounds, people are
going to look to put their money where their mouth
is and try and fully engage with this tournament. Brackets, betting, futures,
you name it. I think you're gonna see a little
significant betting handle not only here in Nevada but elsewhere
across the country. You know, Todd now that they're not

(55:50):
gonna be a lot of fans there, the fact that
the higher seeds won't get the bet in front of
the dot by paying close to home and all that
stuff out there. Do you just bet the upset? Do
you just take I'll take all of the sixteen, It's
gonna be crazy. Do you do something like that or what?
I don't think I'll go that far, Ernie. I think
you have to handicap each game for the XS and os.

(56:11):
I think the biggest question that all of us have
is how tested some of these mid majors are. Do
you believe a Winthrop can go out there and win
a game or two knowing that they haven't played the
same daunting schedule of nonconference opponents that they would during
normal seasons. But I think ultimately you're going to see
this tournament play out like you typically do. You'll see
a handful of upsets early on, You'll see a Cinderella
or two get into the sweet sixteen, maybe the Elite eight,

(56:33):
and ultimately the cream will rise to the top. But
the one thing I will say with this tournament why
things can be a little bit different. We've seen a
trend in recent years where those veteran laden teams, especially
for mid majors, become some of the toughest outs. I
think this is where coaching plays a big role. And
when you have those upperclassmen and on floor generals knowing
that you're going to be contained in a bubble potentially
getting through that first weekend, it may help level the

(56:55):
playing field instead of you have a roster comprised mainly
of freshman softwares. Yeah. So, I mean, I feel like
it's been a constant conversation that we've had. But does
the lack of crowds effect the way you're handicapping this
too much? Todd? It won't play a massive role. I
don't think you're gonna see underdogs get spurred on playing
in hostile territory the same way. It'll be a lot

(57:15):
of bringing your own energy and intensity, and I think
you'll get indication early on in some of these games
which teams are focused and fully engaged to try and
be there. One thing you do want to keep in mind, though,
some of these venues are going to play very differently,
and when you're in and around the Indianapolis area. There's
certain teams that have a little bit of a level
of increased familiarity. One thing that I am interested to

(57:36):
see is what they'll do to try and preserve some
of the shooting backdrops in spots like the Lucas Oil Stadium,
knowing that you're not gonna have a ton of fans
in there, and typically when you go to domes, we've
seen depth reception play a major role, especially early on
in games. Todd out of the All Star Games. Do
a lot of money came in on that. What what
was the story there? They couldn't stop your minions? Are

(57:56):
you running over men, women and children? And try and
bet the game over the total And that number opened
as lowest three eight and a half. It closed at
three nineteen and a half, so it just snuck over
the closing number. What was interesting, though, is you saw
Lebron side open as a three and a half point favorite,
even with Joel Embiad and Ben Simmons getting ruled out.
You didn't see a whole heck of a lot of movement.
But it's rare we see an All Star game, especially

(58:18):
in the NBA, turned into this type of route. But
when you have players like Joannice breaking the field goal
record from the floor and Dame Lord and Staff bombing
from basically the opposing three point line, gonna make things
a little bit tougher for Team Durant. Well, the NBA
season is overtied with the trade of Blake Griffin, Arnie
is guaranteed that's championship. I'm not necessarily so believing that

(58:41):
Griffin is gonna make much of a difference. Does it
change anything and the numbers for Brooklyn win totals or
anything in that nature. It does. It's moved Brooklyn It's
own books to the favorite for the first time all
season to win the NBA Championship. At FanDuel, they're still
slightly behind the Lakers, but razor thin margins. You're talking
about the Brooklyn Nets right around three to one the
Lakers at a price of plus two eighty. Let's see

(59:02):
how healthy Blake Griffin is and what he could contribute. Uh.
We talked about the Brooklyn Nets in the one area
where they were a little bit deficient was having that
physical interior score. I think now they checked that box.
But there's no doubt if you're a fan of the
Philadelphia seventy sixers, and you thought Ben Simmons, Joel and
beating Tobias Harris, we're gonna have a chance. They'll now
have their hands full and then some The one question

(59:23):
that you have with the Brooklyn Nets. Can all of
these egos co exist on the floor with one another?
And how will Steve Nash ultimately adjust in the best
of seven series in terms of making the adjustments. But
if it was any indication how Brooklyn was playing coming
into the All Star break, we may as well pencil
them into the NBA Finals and see who they'll ultimately
meet from the Western Conference. Still no love from my
New York Knicks one gave up. Not too shabby, my friend.

(59:46):
I think if the Knicks make the playoffs this year, Arnie,
it would be a massive achievement for this team. And
it was just good to see Obi topping out there
because he's typically lost over the course of a regular game.
I wasn't sure he was still a member of the
Knicks until I saw him in the slam. Dumb thought
that they're there tonight. Same same how much stock are
you putting into the quarterback madness right now? Are you

(01:00:06):
paying attention every little move out of Seattle. Do you
think we'll see some movement in Houston? Todd? How dialed
in right now? Are you to this? Because I can't
get enough of it? Oh. For me, it's extremely entertaining,
especially because I grew up in Chicago and all my
friends and family are Bear fans, and they think they're
getting Russell Wilson. They think they're getting Deshaun Watson. They
may try and convince me over the next couple of

(01:00:27):
weeks that Jim mcmanhnon is going to go out there
and be their starting quarterback to recreate the Super Bowl shuffle.
But I really believe the quarterbacks have a lot more
power than they've had in previous years. And if the
relationship in Seattle is deteriorating, Pete Carroll has to go
out there. He's already cut ties with Brian Schottenheimer, and
if the Seahawks didn't perform this year, it ultimately falls
on him. When you think about it from a job

(01:00:48):
security standpoint, if Pete convinces the organization and they work
to put together a trade to send Russell Wilson out
of town, it would buy him another year or two
at minimum. In my opinion, especially if he shipped to
the to the Raiders. Derek Carr comes in there along
with a couple of other assets, and when you look
at this icy relationship that continues to brew in Houston.
At the end of the day, if you're the Texans,
sure you paid to Shawn over a hundred fifty million dollars,

(01:01:11):
but if he doesn't want to be there, go out
there and get the best package you can. You have
a new head coach and David Coley and begin to
rebuild the right way. I'm not saying it's too or
Sam Donald, but the realistic possibility exists of drafting high
and a quarterback laden class that you could be able
to have your guy and ultimately pivot for the franchise.
The hard part is we know what kind of talent
DeShawn Watson is. And given everything Houston sports in general

(01:01:34):
have had to endure with losing James Harden on the hardwoods,
j J. Watt on the defensive side, and of course
the migration of astros everywhere else, it's gonna be tough
for that city to embrace the loss of yet another superstar.
You know, I was telling Pike, I think I may
put that a little bit of money of of Russell
Wilson going out to Chicago. We laughed about J. J.

(01:01:54):
Watt one that Arizona. I think it'd be a good
fit out there. I can see why he'd want to go.
I I would put it past. Didn't the figure out
how to get out to Chicago. The amazing part about it, Arnie,
is how bad has things gotten in Seattle for Russell
Wilson that he thinks going to Chicago is an upgrade
in terms of playing for that offense. He apparently hasn't
watched a whole lot of Bears football and what Mitchell

(01:02:16):
Robinski has done over the last couple of seasons. But
if Russ is gonna go, the Bears have to make
a commitment to Allen Robinson. They need a healthy Darnell Mooney,
and they'll need a couple other weapons. But it is
a big city. It's a city that's passionate about its
football team, and quite frankly, they haven't had a whole
lot to celebrate on the offensive side other than a
quarterback performance that is extremely fleeting. And Russell Wilson could

(01:02:37):
end up on that Bears offensive Mount Rushmore if you
put together seasons right alongside the likes of Gael Stayers
and Walter Payton. Well, you know, I'll tell you what
I told Plank okay, because he said the same thing,
I go and of course not you don't expect him
to go to Chicago and win a Super Bowl. That's impossible.
It'd be like, I don't know, Tom Brady, even the
Patriots going to Tampa and winning a Super Bowl with
the seven at Night right, same thing, isn't it? My good?

(01:03:00):
If you go through the Bears roster of offensive talent
compared to Tampa, Arnie, I think you're going to see
a serious discrepancy between the two position groups and and everything. People.
You know what, maybe he could be the missing link
for Chicago and all of a sudden in a division
that I think will be a lot more competitive outside
of the Troy lines than people think. It would be fascinating,

(01:03:22):
But you just wonder what the Bears have that they
can give up for him, and how they would carve
out a little bit more of salary cap space to
make Russell Wilson turning it in from a pipe dream
into a reality. Vegas Inside for FS once Fox pet Live, Go,
subscribe to the Better Board podcast. He has Todd Firm
and Todd, we appreciate your time. Have a great start
to championship week in the n C Double A Tournament.

(01:03:42):
Always a pleasure. Gent stay safe out there, Thanks, stay
safe out there. You know what, It's gonna be awesome
next Sunday night, right, literally, Lee, Let's go ahead and
book the same two guests. Let's start with Torres and
then let's get Todd on because we'll be sitting and listen.
I'm just gonna tell you that Arni's gonna already have
the bracket filled out, and he's going to tell you
that this is who's winning the championship and this is

(01:04:04):
the final four. It's it's a it's a tradition unlike
any other. But I mean, we're a week away from
the start of the true March madness. After a year
removed from the n C Double A Tournament being removed,
I can't wait to sit here with brackets next Sunday.
That all right, Steve de Sager comes austrolling it to
the Farmer's Insurance. Fox Sports Radio studio is fairly busy night.

(01:04:26):
What's going on? Steve Lebron James has now started for
the winning side in the NBA All Star Game for
four straight years, he's undefeated as coach. He had four
points tonight, but that was good enough in a one
seventy to one fifty victory for Team Lebron over Team
Durant at the All Star Game in Atlanta. The game
m v p Yannas Autennant Cumpo of Milwaukee in nineteen
minutes on the court thirty five points and a record

(01:04:48):
sixteen for sixteen shooting from the floor Janice. According to
stats Inc, joins Will Chamberlain as the only players at
NBA history to have a sixteen for sixteen or better
game in an game, All Star or otherwise. Will did
it twice in the same regular season nineteen sixty seven.
Just for the record, Bradley Beale had twenty six points

(01:05:09):
in defeat. The dunk contest was at halftime and Phrony
Simons of Portland's the winner three to two, the judges say.
In the final over ob Tuppen of New York, three
point contests went to Steph Curry of Golden State, beating
Utah's Mike Conley on the final shot. Conley a sub
for the injured Devin Booker. This weekend Skills Challenge went
to Demantis Sabonis of the Pacers. He defeated Orlando's Nick Vutchevitch.

(01:05:31):
The regular season won't resume until Wednesday night. The Nets
have Blake Griffin now he's agreed to a deal with
them after clearing waivers today. In college basketball, Oregon finished
out the regular season on FS one tonight, winning at
Oregon State eighty to sixty seven. So the Ducks, at
fourteen and four in conference, finished first place in the
PAC twelve ninth rank. Houston has now won twenty five

(01:05:51):
straight home games, and my goodness, the way they won today,
beating Memphis sixty seven sixty four on a three pointer
at the buzzer that banked in from inside half court.
Memphis on it wasn't all clean, you know, it wasn't
like he went straight up for the shot and it
still went in. Memphis on free throws was ten for

(01:06:13):
twenty and lost at the buzzer. So the Memphis Tigers
record fifteen and seven. Is this the game that cost
him a spot in the national Tournament. Baylor and Texas
got wins Iowa and Michigan State as well. The Spartans
went nine and eleven in conference this season, but they
did beat number two Michigan today seventy to sixty four.
Spartans trying for a twenty third straight n c A

(01:06:36):
tournament appearance. By the way, Tennessee beat Florida Northwestern over
Nebraska by a point on a late putback Penn State
one at Maryland tonight. James Madison was eight and two
in the Colonial, but lost its conference quarterfinals seventy two
seventy one to Elon Conference championship game wins for Loyal
of Chicago, Liberty and win Trop In the NHL, the

(01:06:56):
Islanders won their fifth straight. Carolina won its fifth in
a row. Bryson to sha Ambo took the Arnold Palmer
Invitational by one stroke. Kyle Larson was the NASCAR winner
at Las Vegas. He led over a hundred laps today.
It's his first victory in a year and a half.
Brad Keselowski finished second, and Texas in spring training play
beat the Dodgers for three in an eight inning game.
The loss to Walker Bueller he allowed to home runs

(01:07:17):
in the first, trailed for nothing in the second. The
win the former Atlanta Braves picture Mike Fulton eva back
to you Steve is my man Sheldon Noise. He gonna
make the Dodgers rost Oklahoma. You know, his stats have
been a little noisy in the minor leagues shockingly, but
as you know, this is a bit of a crowded roster,
right That's it's gonna be tough to break in there.

(01:07:38):
But hey, there's a maximum see amongst all of us,
thanks Stevens. And no d h this year apparently, so
that stinks too. We're broadcasting lot tonight from the Farmers
Insurance Fox Sports Radio studios called eight and eight Farmers
and you could save a whole lot of something on
car insurance. Disiga re Joints is coming up here in
a bit, we'll break down everything going on today in
the world of sports. By all right, I can't believe

(01:07:59):
you weren't all over the story last night with the
Vegas Golden Knights having to switch hotels because the hotel
they were staying in went out of business. Is that
insane or what I mean, especially in Vegas or not
in Vegas, But I can't believe that happens. How does
it just go out of business just like that? You know,
it's fascinating, but I mean, I can't even fathom. Whenever

(01:08:21):
you go back to I think with the Fairmount Hotel
and you kind of walk in like Sarah, I'm sorry,
you're gonna have to leave and think about the things
she did. It's like it was I too loud, Did
I leave something on in my room? And they're like, no, no, no,
we're closed. Well you're a hotel. You can't be clothes, No, sir,
we're closed for business. So that the Golden Knights made
it work. But fascinating story how COVID affected the hotel industry.

(01:08:46):
So I feel like sometimes I've mistakenly saved some of
our best stuff until the final segment, after the bottom
of the hour, in our final out, and usually it
involves the Dallas Cowboys, Bobo's beloved Dallas Cowboys, because Arnie,
for some reason, you hate everything about the Dallas Cowboys

(01:09:09):
and I had to live in Dallas. Bobo, what's your
what's your little saying it was the longest years? Might
say it was. I was there three years. It was
the longest twenty one years of my life. I was
just saying, I don't I don't, so my saying that
this has been the longest time working with it's only
been a decade. Has it has been ten years? Ten years?

(01:09:32):
But I know you don't you get back in here?
Come on, because I got this tweet, but but I
wanted to get to it early because it is a
Dallas cowboy conversation and it comes from our man Matt,
who writes the argument to pay Dak close to my
home's money. Oh, this is one of Barnie's favorite. All

(01:09:53):
quarterbacks coming to the league staggered throughout the year, so
new contracts are staggered. Also, Therefore, the contracts are more
about timing than the player. Can I jump in and
give an example. Do you know who the highest paid
quarterback was in the off season? Seen actually into the
seventeen off season. I should say after the sixteen season.

(01:10:13):
It was Derek Carr because he came out of that season,
and then Matt Stafford became the highest paid quarterback after that.
So his point is, hey, everything staggered. Everyone's always getting
different deals at different times. Of course, you could pay
them according to how good they are. There could be
arguments as to who is better than who was the best,
gets the most money, and so on and so forth.
But Dak would still be around the eighth best money wise.

(01:10:37):
So in other words, Arnie, the point is, even if
you're like, oh, I don't want to pay Dak, you're
going to pay a quarterback eventually that kind of money.
So why not a guy that Dallas appears to dig
and Dallas likes and Dak Prescott, why not? Well, are
you really going to pay a quarterback that type of money?
One too, he's getting the franchise tag, which puts someone
what the top three, So he's gonna get that thirty

(01:10:59):
seven and a half million dollars. But more important, he
wants what two hundred million dollars? He wants like a
five year, four year, two hundred million dollar contract. I'm
not giving him that type of money. I don't care
what you told me and how much it's gonna be
a bargain. He's not worth that type of money. He's
not that great of a quarterback. He's coming off two surgeries. Uh,

(01:11:21):
and what we didn't even know about till later on.
I don't want him forget about it. Well, good thing,
we ain't leaving it up to you. You wish we
were leaving up to We probably have two of looking
at exactly for t and then after one half you
would have cut him. It wasn't even half. It was
after he got dressed. I saw him. Wow, I don't

(01:11:42):
like how he looks. He's really not right. Well that's
the crazy part, Like it's actually that I'm serious, Like, dude,
do you realize how much you was like preaching Tank
for two and then y'all got him, and then the
first time you saw him play, he was like, he's
not It was really it was really Tank for Trevor.

(01:12:02):
I think you miss understood me. But are you taking
for somebody that hadn't even declared for the draft in
ten years? I don't think i've heard you with one
solid yeah every time. The only thing that I've heard
that's been solid is your disgust for Tom Brady. Take

(01:12:23):
that back. It was for the Patriots and then the
moment he left, you put on your Tom Brady underwear
and been out there camping. There's a whole lot wrong
with that. I think the Cowboys are gonna pay dak arn'tie.
I don't know if it's right, but enough time, I
don't think. But well, I mean they they're gonna they're
gonna franchise tag him and then work something out after

(01:12:45):
that is I was just saying, Yeah, that's that's what
I think is gonna happen here. And again, what are
you worth? You're worth what someone's willing to pay you.
And in this instance, Dallas likes what they appears to
like what they have in Dak Prescott. It's been eerily quiet,
and the Deshaun Watson front, you haven't heard much. Russell
Wilson has been loud and saying he wants to go

(01:13:06):
to Dallas. But I don't really know. If I don't
know if signing trades happen in the NFL, I really
don't so to me, I think the reality is we're
watching a season, a future of Dallas with Dak Prescott
a quarterback. Like you know what, I'm still not sold
on it. I think what's going to happen is to
good off from the franchise tag. He's not going to
want it because he's not gonna want to sign that

(01:13:28):
one year deal. He's gonna want to get traded and
to whoever wants to get him is gonna have to
give him a new contract. So um and by the way,
if he's such a great quarterback, why are there not
more teams? Collaboring to get him when so many teams
need a quarterback, especially one um that's that's almost like
a free agent here. So why aren't they calling the Cowboys?

(01:13:48):
Because he's not like a free agent yet and this
is their exclusive negotiating window with him. And gosh, I
hate to I've been such that literal fan tonight. I
know you have. How do we know that people aren't calling?
I guess we don't. You're right about that, I guess again.
I swear to you. I was just about to say
that you have no idea if anybody's even reached out

(01:14:09):
to him, And I mean, if how many teams need
a quarterback right now, let's like literally break it down.
I would have to think that like seams of would
want to be interested in picking up that Prescott just
to just to put the feelers out on what's going
on there. You know, well, hey, when we come back
to the Farmers Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studio, Steve Sager
is going to jump in. But I've been constantly and

(01:14:29):
chronically updating that list that Bobo is talking about. That
list that is teams that aren't going to have a
change at quarterback, teams that definitely will have a change
at quarterback, and seems that possibly could have a change
at quarterback, and we'll we'll flash that in front of

Steve the Sager comes to hang out with us for
a final segment of our two ties up all the
loose ends for us, things that we haven't necessarily hit
on yet. What's going on, Steve, loose ends? There never

(01:15:12):
loose ends on this. Although as you mentioned earlier in
this show you reference the crooked Arizona Wildcats basketball program,
it's not going to be in March Madness this year
and maybe next year the way things are looking, honestly,
but I did run across this from stats Inc. That
you know, with the Michigan State victory to close out
the regular season today, that means the Spartans in the
last thirteen days they've beaten number five ranked Illinois, number

(01:15:35):
four Ohio State, and number two Michigan. The last team
to beat three top five teams in the span of
thirteen days was Arizona on the way to the title
in and A tournament. I looked it up. They had
thank you. They had beaten a top seed Kansas in
the regional and once that Arizona team with Miles Simon

(01:15:58):
got to the final four, they beat North Carolina and
Kentucky and won the title. And as far as the
ask of stats, with everybody ever done this in the
regular season in thirteen days, three top five teams apparently
nineteen Duke had done it in a regular season, So
they're keep in mind. The entire n c A Tournament

(01:16:18):
is all going to be in the state of Indiana.
Selection Sunday is next Sunday, six pm Eastern will find
out the field, but the actual games, most of them
are in Indianapolis. Fifty five out of the sixty seven
games in the tournament. In fact, the first four games
are gonna be held at Purdue and at Indiana's arena.
I saw a stat on Perdue yesterday. I believe they
are fourteen and one in state this season. They're gonna

(01:16:41):
be in state for the rest of the season because
conference tournament and National Tournament are both in the state
of Indiana. Indianapolis is hosting the conference tournament and hosting
the Final four, and that cold stadium, Lucas Oil Stadium
is gonna be a hosting I believe some first round games,
you know, games throughout the term them, not just the
final four. Although you must keep in mind the Sweet

(01:17:04):
Sixteen this year is going to be on a weekend.
It's gonna be at Butler and at the Pacers Arena,
the field House. So the Sweet Sixteen on the final
weekend of March. All eight games that weekend are getting
their own TV window. No two games overlapping each other.
All the Sweet sixteen games will be played at separate times. Unfortunately,

(01:17:27):
get used to that. And that means, by the way,
that once we get to regional finals, that's not gonna
be on a weekend, that's gonna be a Monday night
and Tuesday night at the end of March, the Elite
eight games. No, I gotta get used to that. And
if I don't like it, I'm I'm not gonna want
to get used to it. And you know, it's a
COVID year. Let's let's just realize there's no travel. Everything's

(01:17:48):
really crammed together. It may be just not even an experiment,
just a one year have to do this. Fifth ranked
Iowa edge Wisconsin today seventy seventy three. Afterwards, they announced
that All American Luca Garza will have his jersey retired
at the school. They did not tell him in advance
and they broke down in tears. He is the number
one guy and career scoring there twenty one point sixteen rebounds.

(01:18:10):
I believe he was runner up for the Wooden Award
Player of the Year last year. Texas won at TCU tonight,
I believe. I said that Jamie Dixon's never had a
losing record as a coach TCUs twelve and thirteen. Going
into the Big Twelve, they better win one of those
loser games to start the state. Yeah, yeah, exactly Where's
Where's Iowa State? Can we play? Iowa State? Oklahoma almost

(01:18:32):
gotta get back on track Wednesday Iowa State, which went
in eighteen in conference. Just for the record, and as
we look ahead to conference tournaments, keep in mind FS
one will have massive coverage of the Big East Tournament
from New York starting on Wednesday the tenth. The actual
championship game will be on Fox TV next Saturday night,
but the rest of the Tournament of the Big East

(01:18:52):
will be on FS one, and Las Vegas, Nevada will
be hosting five different conference tournaments. They are currently hosting
the West Coast Conference tournament. Yet again, Gonzaga gets essentially
the double by into the semifinals tomorrow night. B YU
the same the two seed in that conference. They'll each
finally play tomorrow night. But there are a couple of

(01:19:13):
those tournaments in Vegas where the conferences decided to allow
at least friends and family to attend, but not the
general public. And then then there was Jana Sintenna Compo's
night game MVP with nineteen minutes of work. I do
not believe he had a shot in the fourth quarter,
and why would you when you've already piled up sixteen
for sixteen for the floor, So he sets the record

(01:19:35):
in an All Star game. Nobody had taken that many
shots and literally not missed one. Apparently looking at the list,
there had been a couple of guys over from the
floor with double digit shot attempts in All Star games.
That was Anthony Davis and Rudy Gobert in recent years.
But sixteen of sixteen and tonight, keep in mind, there
was no Joel Embiid on Team Durant and no Kevin

(01:19:56):
Durant has of injury on that losing side. In fact,
it was and beat and Ben Simmons ruled out today
because they got haircuts from a barber who tested positive
for COVID nineteen. This is in Philadelphia before they came
into the the weekend Bubble, shall we call it in Atlanta.
So Team Lebron wins even though Lebron James himself scores
only four points. But as a coach, since they've gone

(01:20:17):
to this format, you know where the top vote getter
it gets to be a captain and pick his team.
He's four and oh. In the past he had beaten
on the court as Steph Curry squad. He had beaten
a Janice squad for a couple of years. This year
he drafted Curry, drafted Yatis. There were two guys missing
on the other side, and Team Lebron scored a hundred
points in the first half. The halftime score was one

(01:20:38):
to eighty. The final score was one seventy to one
first to one seventy. In the Eller scoring system, Team
Lebron take that Team Durant is anyone really talking trash
about no, no the answers. By the way, each team
on free throws was three for five tonight. That's a

(01:20:58):
little deep into the play. Alright, great stuff to say.
I can't believe we're already two hours in the books
when we come back. All right, let's update our quarterback tears.
Who's for sure gone, who's for sure coming back? We
had down the home stretch with Arni Plank on Fox
Final Hour. For us, it's the tailgate show for the
Big Ben Mallar Show right here on Fox Sports Radio.

(01:21:19):
As we come to you live from the Farmers Insurance

We are farmers. Love it, Love it alright, stinking genius.

(01:21:39):
So I can't get you fired up about March Madness
until the actual brackets come out and you tell us
who's one. Do you think that everybody else is all
pumped up about it? I mean, let's be honest. You
don't get to see the fans at the games, and
you've had no for the most part, no fans at
the games. And um again, it's all gonna be in
one state. I don't like the standalone games. I think
that kind of takes away some of the fun about it,
and it just it just look once against going. I'm

(01:22:03):
sure I'll get more into it just feels kind of
you know so right now? Well, um, I don't think
this is just me. I don't think the fans in
the stands not being there is as damning for some
people as as it is for you and I, because
everyone's kind of dealt with it. I really takes away
from the enjoyment of the game. For me. Again, I

(01:22:26):
hate to it's still basketball. I mean, I know the
crowd's not going crazy, but you're still going crazy in
your rooin the benches jumping around like that's ridiculous. Okay,
then you know what, what, why don't we just take
it outside to the blacktop and play still basketball? No,
that's it's It misses so much when you take the
fans away. This isn't anything new, Arnie. Um, I don't
know what to tell you, man. This is not something

(01:22:48):
that just happened last week. We've been playing without fans
for a year right now. Yeah, I know you're acting
like it's the first time that you've seen this. Um,
But I I for one, Yeah, sure it takes a
way from it. But I mean I'm still pumped about
March Madness. I mean I'm still excited about getting to
see the best in college basketball. Go at it. You're

(01:23:09):
still wait to see Kentucky. Go all, wait a minute,
they're not. They're not playing in the tournament. Um, dude,
might still get in. No, I was talking blue bloods.
Aren't the thing that The thing that stands out to
me though, is is you're sitting here talking about how
you don't care and it doesn't matter. Are you still
filling out a bracket? Of course I am. What's wrong
with you? Well, then you're still all in on it
right now? A gamble of course. All right. So I

(01:23:34):
can't sell you on getting more excited about And that's fine.
There's probably a lot of people that feel that way.
But come next Sunday, and then of course that Monday,
when nobody does any work at all anyway at their
office or whatever they're doing, they're still gonna have everyone
filling out brackets. Everyone's gonna do the old complained that
they don't know what channel true TV is on and
they realize, oh, wait a minute, it's not even on Thursday.

(01:23:57):
So we'll have all our old dad jokes that are
out there and about will in the bet come next
Sunday night and you're gonna be an expert on it again.
You'll be all in. It'll be the greatest thing you've
ever seen. Yeah, but we also like take it off
the Thursday before and not well, it's not gonna We'll
still have the playing games right well, those Thursday Wednesday.
So no, no, no no, are they Tuesday winds there Tuesday Wednesday?
But they're all in Indiana now, so those are those

(01:24:19):
aren't in beautiful Dayton, Ohio anymore. But I'm I'm pretty
excited about d n C Double A tournament. And listen,
I come to you as a fan who has been
all in on the n C Double A Tournament for
twenty four hours now, AREN'TI? So you just back off,
all right, as a as a lifelong true brew blue
ready fan for the tournament, you just back off all right, um,

(01:24:40):
as we come to you live from the Farmer's Insurance
Fox Sports Radio Studios. So tweets have been great tonight,
by the way, the playing games are Thursday pushes everything
bag get it right, Arenie, who haven't been a fan
for the last tournament, so you still get games on Thursday.
It's just not get not day time like we you know,

(01:25:01):
like we do. It's all ruined. It's all ruined. They
need to shut the thing down. That's what they need
to do. I think it starts at about four pm
Eastern that Thursday, the first four games, but then we'll
the next day, the Friday, March nineteenth, will have the
new and Eastern start and the first round will get underway.
I like it. I like it. I'm ready. I'm ready.

(01:25:21):
We'll fill out a brackets here to next Sunday night. Okay,
quarterback tears. And I'm not talking about ranking good, too great,
to best towards. I'm talking about the conversation that was
birthed on this show a couple weeks ago when we
talked about the over under being set at what was
it eighteen and Adam Schefter saying take the over for

(01:25:42):
changes in one. So we've updated this list every single
week with one category being no change. By the way,
we've added a team to the no change list to
this week with one category being definite and one category
being possible where you could easily slide them into no

(01:26:03):
change are definite. So just to refresh, here's the no
change list. And then the final team is the newest edition.
We've got the Bills, Ravens, Browns, Bengals, Titans, Chiefs, Chargers, Giants, Packers, Vikings, Bucks,
Arizona and welcome in. The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't even because

(01:26:23):
it looks like Ben Roethlisberger is back. You know one
thing about that list there, I'm surprised more Giant fans
haven't been at least clamoring maybe they should get a
new quarterback. With so many on the market and so
many of the draft, um, I'm surprised there hasn't been
a little bit of a buzz like, hey, are we
sure this guy is the real deal or we want
to keep them around? But I guess uh, Giant fans
are happy with him. Look at Kwan Barkley back for healthy,

(01:26:46):
So we'll see what happens there. Sorry, I'm completely turned
away from my microphone. Non professional. I think the other
part of it is this is it right? This is
it for Daniel Jones. You gotta prove it this year.
If you know you're headed in another direction. All right,
here's the definite change list. Now there's thirteen on the
no change list. The definite change has ten, and I've

(01:27:10):
added a team on the definite change list. Some of
these have already changed the quarterbacks, like the Rams, the Lines,
the Colts, and the Eagles. So there's four teams there.
Jaguars right because they're taking Trevor Lawrence number one, Bears
because Mitch Trubisky isn't coming back, six, the Washington football team,

(01:27:31):
the Patriots, Carolina, and I put in Miami in the
definite change list. Anyway, Wow, WHOA, WHOA? What am I
missing here? I've listened to you tell me how bad
two is. Yeah, but what would put I say that,
but would put you with the definite list there? I

(01:27:52):
want to get rid of them, my I see too
many quarterbacks out there, and I want to make another move.
But I'm surprised you would say that, though. I think
they've been too active in the Deshaun Watson conversations, whether
it's real or not. I just think there's there's too
much smoke there. Aren'tie, there's too much smoke there for

(01:28:13):
them not to be in that conversation I just and
I think that they feel like they're pretty good, kind
of like Carolina, right, I think Carolina feels like they're
pretty good. And those ten teams, I think are gonna
have a different starting quarterback. And again four of them already.
Do we know? The Jags are going to, Bears are

(01:28:33):
definitely going to, Washington's going to, the Patriots are going
to and I guess, really the two wild cards there,
Caroline in Miami, why are you are you starting to
believe that two is gonna get another year? I thought
I was pretty much under the assumption that they're gonna
bring to a back. I guess obviously if they get
the Shawn Watson, they'll move to it to the Texas.
And let me tell you something, if they did that,
Um too will be like Sam Donald for the rest

(01:28:56):
of his career. I'm glad you didn't say Derek carr
Um because that gets us to the possible list. So
thirteen no change, ten definite, So that means there's nine possibles.
But I think, can we move the Jets from possible

(01:29:17):
to definite on this list? I think so it looks like,
I mean, some of the reports coming out that they'll
move on past Donald to find some find another quarterback,
So I'd put them on their definite Let's I don't
know who they're gonna go to though. Here's what their
general manager Joe Douglas had to say this week whenever
he was asked about Sam Donald and kind of where
they stand right now as a franchise. Because if if

(01:29:39):
there's one thing that hasn't changed about the New York Jets,
they've kind of made it clear that if that phone rings,
they're not gonna play any semantics. They're answering it, you know,
if it's made as it pertains to Sam. I mean,
like I said, Sam, Sam's uh, we think a dynamic
player in this league with unbelievable talent and who's really

(01:30:00):
really has a chance to really hit his outstanding potential
moving forward. But um, you know, like I've said earlier,
if calls are made, I will I will answer him.
All right, So do we do we move them into
the definite list or do we wait another week to
that means goodbye sending a postcard when you get to
Washington to play with the Washington football team. Oh, Sam

(01:30:23):
Donald in d C, I like it? Do we go ahead?
And I got them in in the possible list because
I mean listen to even though the Texans said they're
willing to let him sit out, according to a report
from ESPN this week, I just don't know if when
push comes to shove, they're gonna say, yeah, you sit down,
Deshaun Watson. But should we go ahead and move Houston

(01:30:46):
and Seattle into the definite list? Move you let's start
with Houston. Yes, move them into the definite list. And
by the way, if you're the Texans, why wouldn't you
say that who's going to blink first? Is it gonna
be the Shaun Watson when the money starts coming out
of his pocket because he's not a training camp and
he's gonna start missing games so he's gonna pull Levan
Bell all over again. Or are you gonna be the Texans? Like, Okay,

(01:31:08):
well he's supposed to say it's somebody. We don't have
to worry about it. He'll come in sooner than later.
I still think they should trade him. But if it's
gonna be who's going to blink first, DeShawn Watson, the Texans,
I promise you would won't be the Texans. All Right,
we're going through our weekly numbers of quarterback changes, places
where we'll see a new QB, places where we won't,
in places where we might. So we'll wait a little bit.

(01:31:29):
On Seattle, I'm I'm like Watson's gone from the Texans.
I'm more like, uh, like Russell will Okay, so you're
a little lower than I am, because I'm I'm at
about sixty right now with Russell Wilson. Really well, I'm
surprised usually you don't go for a little I'm a
little bit. I'm a little bit missed by his list.

(01:31:50):
But I think they'll be able to change his mind
and add someone like the Dolphins. You don't think to
be able to add the Jets. Do you think he'll
get traded to a team not on the list? Yes?
I do, I have And in fact, how about this,
I only think he ends up getting traded if it's
a team that's not on that list. I don't think.
So what was that was for the teams? I really

(01:32:12):
don't want to go do what I don't. I don't know.
I don't know what that list was for. I have
no idea. Oh, I was like, I'm looking about Chicago,
Vegas is nice? That what I was like, now starts
or something. I don't know. It might be all right,

(01:32:34):
we'll get these last few in here, so jets and
text into we'd put the definite list, will wait a
week on Seattle. What about the Raiders? Um? Is it
Deshaun Watson or Russell Wilson? And if neither one of
those two, Derek Carr. That's pretty much what it is, right.
But I think I gotta bring Car back to Marcus Mariota.
I don't believe we'll be on the text or on
the Raiders. I think you know that. Um, he gets

(01:32:56):
another gig somewhere. I don't know if it's going to
be the Patriots or what. But Cars should be back
with with the Raiders, which I didn't think was gonna
happen about a month ago. Yeah, here's what Mike Mayok
had to say about Car. I think Dark Car had
his best year yet under John Gruten. I think he's
one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. And we
couldn't be happier with them. And I tell you every year,
I mean we evaluate every position every year. I have

(01:33:18):
no idea who can who who might call me or
who might not call me, So you have to do
the evaluations both on your own players and every other
player in the league. And you gotta stack your boards
and understand what league value is all around the league.
And we do that. But if you're asking me about
dark I mean, I think John and I would both
stand shoulder to shoulder and found the table for dark Car.
So we're getting close to putting the Raiders in the

(01:33:40):
no change list. By the way, um, I know that
some people kind of like to over analyze everything that's
said about Derek Carr. That's the same thing that's been
said each of the last three offs. I would ask
you what you talk about over evaluation? What just not
to go on the left field here? Like when the
Patriots say, um, they're going to interview Zack Wilson, um

(01:34:03):
on on, you know, on zoom or whatever, don't you
say yourself why you're not gooding the number two picks?
So do you do that just because you want another quarterback?
So you gotta interview all five or six so nobody
knows which quarterback you really want, I don't know, or
maybe to learn about itt traits in case you go
up against him, right, so you know a little bit

(01:34:23):
about what makes him tick. You're gonna start doing that, now,
come on, stop it. Don't drop enough stuff to deal with,
then start doing that. You're worried about the draft, You
realize who you're talking about here, right, You're talking about
Bill Belichicks. I know that. Maybe that's why he does
such a crappy job with the draft every year. Okay,

(01:34:44):
don't don't don't do, don't don't go. You know what
you're gonna dog Bill? It's true. I mean is this
isn't your local show. You don't have to troll Patriot
Fancy get calls Arnie Will Belichicks the hell of a coach. Okay.
And if it's the whole thing is that they've had
a couple of drafts, yes, you're absolutely right, but they've
got some damn good drafts throughout this whole process as well.

(01:35:06):
You ask me why I think he's talking to Zack Wilson.
I don't think Zach Wilson's going to the top five
of the draft. So maybe he sees the same thing too,
and maybe he sees the possibility that if they move
up a little bit, they might have a chance to
get a Zach Wilson, or maybe he talks to him
and realizes this guy's a dope. I don't want them.
So I think they're doing their due diligence to see

(01:35:27):
if they want to invest in the quarterback and move
up in this draft. Did you just say Zach Wilson's
not going to the top five picks in the draft.
I don't think so. I don't think so at all.
As a matter of fact, you know what I'm gonna
I'm gonna do you a favor. Go ahead, lead to
Loup our producer. Pull that out of the podcast so
the bosses don't hear something like that. Please, otherwise I'll

(01:35:48):
get fired. Pull that out of the podcast. You've you've
declared the NBA season over. Pull that out of the
podcast before somebody heard that. Pull that out a s
a p Keep that one, and whenever people start to
dig a little bit deeper into his tape, I think
you'll start hearing more the same thing. And every year
we do this, Jordan's Love is gonna be a top

(01:36:11):
ten pick. Meanwhile, there's three picks left in the first
round and he's still sitting there. You did not compare
Jordan's Love to because seeing that you've been pushed, seeing
that you've imploded this segment because you watched what maybe
maybe a half of football from Zach Wilson in your life.
You're just parroting what everyone else is saying. Right now, Arnie,

(01:36:34):
do you know who would be the second quarterback taken
in this year's NFL draft? Am I supposed to say? Fields?
You tell me what am I supposed to say? Here?
Daniel Jones evaluating quarterbacks? He to be the second quarterback taken.
I think, and this is just me, I think that
this is gonna be one of those drafts to where,

(01:36:55):
with so much quarterback talent available, I think you're gonna
see teams that might say, you know what, we'll wait
a little bit. Let's let's get pit A Swol, Let's
get Jamaar Chase. We can wait a little bit on
a quarterback. And those quarterbacks you're gonna start falling and
falling and falling as we get closer to the draft. Now,
can I finish this quick little tier list before I
get caught up in mark drafts with you? I just
got two more teams to add to the list. You

(01:37:16):
ready that, Well, well, maybe we could do when we
get back. You know, we got to get to a
break and then there's other breaking news about another quarterback
that we have to get to your show when we
come back to the Farmer's Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios.
I've got one team that went from being a no
change team in twenty twenty one to an absolute possible change.

(01:37:38):
We'll talk about it next on Fox Sports Radio broadcasting
live tonight from the Farmers Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Call one, eight and eight Farmers and you could save
a whole lot of something on auto insurance. All right,
do you want to go with this big time breaking
news from Adam Schefter first, Arnie? Or do you want
to finish up there the other one that made a
big deal about it, so you might as well get
to it now. Really, Oh, we got breaking news on

(01:38:03):
a quarterback, nice textually Schefter. Okay, I did? I did
overplay it a little bit. Okay, did you guys, Bibbo Lee,
did you see what this story is that he was
losing his mind about. I didn't lose my marbles over well,
Arnie loses his marbles if he sees a dog rock
across the street. So the Lions have had trade discussion
with other teams regarding Chase Daniel, their backup quarterback. Daniel

(01:38:27):
has been considered an ideal mentor for young quarterbacks, something
he learned from Drew Brees during their time together in
New Orleans. For him, no, my whole point is that
on that though, So you're gonna tell me there's a
veteran team or a team that's gonna use him as
a starting quarterback and then draft a youngster and then
learn underneath him something like maybe the New England Patriots
would do. Is that Is that the plan there? Or

(01:38:48):
just to bring him in and let the youngster start.
He just was like a coach and wait, a coach
or something, But don't don't they do that off there?
Like they bring in a veteran quarterback to start off
to like train everybody else and teach every everybody else.
And Patrick was supposed to do that for to Cam Newton. Um,
I thought it was going to do that for whoever
they were going to bring in after him. But I
guess that's not gonna happen. Yeah, I think that in

(01:39:10):
some instances it works out. And the point here is
Chase Daniel has has learned that because he's seen and
worked under Drew Drew Brees so he's kind of viewed
as the mentor. So maybe he's brought in to start,
or or maybe he's brought in to be the guy
that teaches your drafted quarterback how to be a starter.

(01:39:31):
Though I just I had to laugh whenever I do.
Every time you see a tweet from Schefter or any
of the NFL guys and it starts with a quarterback conversation,
Boom boom, There's nothing quite like the letdown of seeing
no offense to Chase Daniel, by the way, great man,
godly man, but Chase Daniel as the conversation of the
trade piece. But for Russell Wilson, well, here's the thing

(01:39:56):
that's gonna happen. I'm just gonna I'm gonna tell you
when the Russell Wilson trade gonna happen. It's gonna happen
with five minutes to go on our show, like a
week from Sunday, and it's gonna give been the gift
that keeps on giving for four hours of his show.
Speaking of Chase Daniel, it does lead in to finally

(01:40:17):
wrapping up this conversation. We have thirteen teams that we
view have no change coming at the quarterback position. We
have ten, and we added the Jets and Texans, so
make it twelve that we see is definite change in one.
We've talked a little bit about Vegas, Denver, Dallas, the Falcons,
the Niners, and Seattle. Is six teams that will keep

(01:40:40):
in that possible. And we all think that Dallas will
have no change because they're gonna give the franchise tag
to one Dak Prescott. But one team went from definite
change to no change this week. That was the Pittsburgh
Steelers where they're signing of Ben Roethlisberger and areny to
put a wrap on this, I put New Orleans in
a possible change all of a sudden, because to me,

(01:41:00):
they were definite, But now, all of a sudden, I
don't know what to do with these Drew Brees rumors
that are going on. After he's pushing a sled. He's
pushing a sled, I mean, is there. I don't care
about the workout videos. I meant that that we're sitting
here at a time where he's supposed to be done
so done right, and he's retired, he's had the press conference,

(01:41:22):
and we've had nothing yet nothing. Well, you told me,
Chris is there's some reason why he has to wait later.
I'm just talking financial reasons for him or the team,
or you know, makes it easier for the team or
does it not make a difference whatsoever. That's a good
looking question. I don't know. Um, you you would think
that everything that needed to be done financially has pretty

(01:41:43):
much already been done and taken care of, right, No,
I know that, But sometimes you helped the deadline by
waiting to announce. I don't know. I'm just trying to
maybe if it's after a post June, maybe they can
wait till after June one to cut him. But usually
those instances you wouldn't for him to retire. I shouldn't
say cut you can you can make those public earlier
and then not announce him vers to the league. Yes,

(01:42:06):
I just I wonder if suddenly he's getting that itch
to where he thinks he's gonna try to play one
more season. I agree with you. I think he's rethinking it.
But um, I don't know if he's gonna come on back,
but he is rethinking it. You have a problem with
leaving uh these teams in the possible category for next
week Vegas, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, the Niner, Seattle and the Saints,

(01:42:27):
anyone you want to take out and put a no
change or definite or keep those seven as are possible.
I just thought it was funny how San Francisco, two
weeks ago we're like, oh no, no, no, no, Jimmy
G's our quarterback. Oh no, what's wrong with you people?
Oh wait a minute, this week, will hey you know
it's uh, we'll listen to people give us a call.
What happened in one week with the Jimmy G thing?

(01:42:49):
Because two weeks ago, I'm like, I guess they're not
gonna get rid of him. This week they're the first.
You're gonna get rid of him? You know? Yeah, it
changes every it I don't know if it truly changes
every week week or if you have these teams that
are playing the strategy games right to where one week
they try to try to make it very clear that
they don't want a guy all achieve me that they

(01:43:11):
don't want to deal guy, and that's really trying to
get another team to top up. It's annie and up,
it's off for form. I kind of sometimes I think
that's exactly what's going on in San Francisco. No no, no,
we're not willing to move Jimmy Garoppolo. And then there's
a well would you do it if we offer this?
Maybe that's what they're trying to do here, But there's
our update. That's where we see guys going are not going.

(01:43:33):
As we count down to the start of the NFL
true calendar year, which is what marchamp March seventeenth, legal
tampering period begins Monday, March fIF alright, one final time
for the Farmer's Insurance. Fox Sports Radio Studios, our buddy
Steve the Sager comes rolling in with an update on
everything of this now a final, including that NBA All

(01:43:54):
Star Game which was one seventy to one fifty Team
Lebron the winner and the game m v P Jani
Seutenant Coompo at thirty five points on a record sixteen
of sixteen shooting from the floor, hundred points in the
first half for the winning side. In defeat, Bradley Beal
scored twenty six, Kyrie Irving twenty four points twelve assists,
and Jayson Tatum had twenty points. Now in defeat Team Durant.

(01:44:15):
It's a forty eight minute game. From three point range,
they were twenty seven of seventy two and the winning
side from long distance about thirty one of sixty one,
including Damian Lillard hitting the clinching three thirty two points
from him and yesterday pointed to his invisible watch. Steph

(01:44:36):
Curry had twenty eight points, Jalen Brown had, Chris Paul
sixteen assists for the winners, and the winning captain Lebron
James four points. He's four and now as a captain.
Joel Embat and Ben Simmons of Philly were out because
of contact tracing, and it was Portland's Anfredy Simons who
won the dunk contest at halftime. Golden States Steph Curry
the three point contest winner, and the skills challenge pregame

(01:44:57):
went to the Pacers Demontus Sabonis. The Brooklyn now have
an agreement with Blake Griffin, who cleared waivers today. Right,
you're saying that because he's the difference in winning the title.
That's right. He's gonna be getting twenty minutes a game.
Blake Griffin is gonna be getting twenty minutes a game.
Blake Griffin is the missing piece for them. Well, they're
gonna win it all anyway, So the Blake or no,

(01:45:18):
that it's just as extradity piece they need because with
all the outside shooting, they needed someone who condunct. Oh no,
this is no idea. What didnts have on their roscar?
All right? Uh? College tube Shell We Spartans are nine
and eleven in conference play, but Michigan stayed at home.
Did beat number two ranked Michigan to finish the regular

(01:45:39):
season today seventy to sixty four. The Wolf Ranges had
already clinched first place in the conference. Number three Baylor
seventy three over Texas Tech, which finished nine and eight
in conference play. Mac Otiga Baylor thirty five points from
three point range. He was ten for twelve at fifth
ranked Iowa Luca Gars at twenty one point, sixteen rebounds,
and a narrow win against Wisconsin's seventy seven seventy three.

(01:46:01):
The Badgers have lost five of six to finish the
regular campaign. Ninth rank Houston one on a three pointer
at the buzzer that banked in from inside half court,
sixty seven sixty four over Memphis, Texas and Oregon one. Tonight,
the Ducks clinch first place in the Pac twelve Conference
championship games. There were three of them. Liberty won the
Atlantic Sun seventy seventy five over North Alabama, which which

(01:46:23):
went seven and eight in the regular season in this conference,
they were this close, you'd think to the n c
A Tournament, But no, no, they're not in. They're not
eligible for the n c A Tournament yet because they're
still quote transitioning into Division one. So Liberty had already
qualified for the n c A A s before this
final was played today. Number twenty ranked Loyal in Chicago

(01:46:45):
Good again, seventy sixty five over Drake. Loyal is shot
from the floor. They took the Missouri Valley and the
Big South championship game at Win went to the home team,
which shot sixty three percent from the floor. Winthrop over
the Fighting Camels of Campbell eighty to fifty three. Winthrop's
record against conference opponents was twenty and one this season.

(01:47:05):
We did have some conference semifinals tonight in the Sun Belt.
The winners were Georgia State Appalachian State in overtime, and
Southern Conference semis to UNC Greensboro and Mercer NHL. The
Islanders won their fifth straight They sent Buffalo to a
seventh straight loss five to two. Carolina won its fifth
strade Washington and New Jersey with wins. Tampa Bay won
again sixth three at Chicago. Bryson Deshambo took the Arnold

(01:47:28):
Palmer Invitational by one stroke over Lee west Would shot
seventy three. Jordan's spe shot seventy five, tied for fourth.
In Windy Orlando, only three players broke part today, but
Deshambo earns nearly one point seven million dollars for his
week of work. It's his first title since winning the
US Open last September. Brooks keptco withdrew from the Players
Championship due to a knee injury. That tournament starts Thursday

(01:47:51):
near Jacksonville. Kyle Larson, the NASCAR winner at Vegas and
third basement of the Indians, Jose Ramirez violated COVID protocols
and is now in quarantine, as his Cleveland teammate fran
mill Reis, who had a problem with this last summer.
The Nationals cut reliever Jeremy Jeffers. There's a story there somewhere.
They are not speaking. In Washington, the Pirates beat Baltimore

(01:48:11):
thirteen to one, and the Mets third baseman Jeff McNeil
didn't even play the whole game and had three errors
in a four or four tie against the Marlins that
was a nine inning game. Sports fans, Texas beat the
Dodgers in an eight inning game for three. Although you know, guys,
how we usually say it's spring training, the scores don't
mean anything. This year, they really don't mean anything. This
Dodger game, for example, today at Arizona, in back to

(01:48:34):
back innings, the Dodgers had men on base and the
other team's picture had already thrown his prescribed twenty pictures
or so, and they said, okay, everyone off the field.
Innings over. I don't know if that counts as men
left on base. But spring training then run and it's
just by the way. For the first couple of weeks
of spring training where the managers can agree in advance,

(01:48:56):
there's only gonna be a five inning or six inning game.
Once we get to mid March, you have to play
at least seven innings for spring trading. So there, back
to you, thanks, Steve, have a great week man. We'll
see you next Sunday night for selection Sunday right here
on Fox Sports Radio, as we come to you live
from the Farmer's Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios with on
the Spaniard, I'm Chris Plank, He's Bobo that Steve de

(01:49:17):
Sager lead Lap produced a heck of a show. If
you missed it, you can find it on the podcast
page Fox Sports Radio Weekends on I Heart Radio or
however you consume podcast. Had a good conversation with Aaron
Torres and our buddy Todd ferman Um No buyer sell
this week. I just I have to I need help
in figuring out a rule proposal. Have you familiarized yourself

(01:49:40):
with what the Ravens have proposed for a way to
decide over time. It was getting so confusing. I'm like, oh, well,
I'll have plan explained it to me. It was getting
kind of crazy after a while. The spot and shoes shoes,
I'm like, get out of here. One team picks the
spot of the ball to start over time, and the

(01:50:01):
other team decides whether it wants to play offense or defense.
The game would be sudden death. The first to score wins,
as opposed to the current rule, which mandates a regular
coin flip to start the overtime, with the receiving team
needing a touchdown the possession to end the game. A
field goal or no score on the first possession would

(01:50:22):
force the game to continue until a team wins or
till the ten minute period ends. Now, um, so if
you win the let's say you win the coin flip, right,
do you want to choose whether or not you want
to be on football or defense? Or do you want
to choose where the ball is spotted? What's the what's

(01:50:43):
the position of power? I'm want to choose where the
ball is spotted. I would think so too, right, So
where would be your go to if I want, if
I have to spot the ball, I'm gonna spot it
at the ten yard line? Oh wow? So I was

(01:51:03):
gonna say, like the thirty five yard line you use
talking about, but I'm talking about like ninety yards away
from the end zone. So the other team then could
choose to play defense. Okay, I'll just drive down the field.
That's fine. I gotta pick up a couple of first dounds. Okay, Well,
I guess if it's sudden death, you might shoot for
more like midfield, and then they're gonna then they're gonna say, okay,

(01:51:27):
we'll take the ball first. I gotta play defense. You're
one completion away from getting in the field goal range.
Then you just went against where you would choose, right,
I mean, if you're gonna go on your own twenty
when did you go three and out? Then you're you're
kind of doomed. Right. I didn't say it was perfect.
The way that rule changes work in the NFL, according
to Peter King's colin This Evening, is that even the

(01:51:48):
best ideas take time to win over the room. Rules
changes need a three quarters majority to pass, so twenty
four teams would have to favor a rule for it
to become a law. I don't either. Usually the art
conservative NFL owners wouldn't vote for something that's as odd
as spot and shoes. It took owners four years of

(01:52:10):
arm twisting to pass a simple extra point change. So
I don't think this is gonna be something that we're
gonna be seeing change shortly. But it's at least a
fascinating conversation about what you would do or where I
was gonna say, maybe we could try it out in
um the preseason, but in the preseason we weren't usually
going overtime anyway. Yeah, I know, right, if you go

(01:52:33):
into overtime in a preseason game, if we play preseason,
which I assume we will this year. Is something really
gone wrong and further proof that the salary cap doesn't exist.
Do you realize as we sit here, um basically seven
days away from the start of the legal tampering period,
that the New Orleans Saints are still sixty three million

(01:52:57):
dollars away from being under the cap. Yeah, that's insane, unbelievable.
So a couple of notes to wrap things up on
the football side of things. On to night that's been
very busy in talking about quarterback, quarterback movement and who
might be next to be on the move. All right,

(01:53:17):
when we come back our final segment from the Farmer's
Insurance Fox Sports Radio Studios, a couple of your really
good tweets, and then of course it's what everyone came
for tonight. Do you have picks? Are you? Yes? I do? Yes?
I do? Are they? Are they quarterback movement picks? Are
the NBA picks? What'd you go with this week? I
went with an NBA pick, some quarterback movement picks and

(01:53:38):
who's in who's out of the n Double A tournament? Oh,
I like a little bubble talk wrap things up with
Arnie and plank a Fox Sports Radio. It's our final segment, Yes, Arnie.
Next weekend, when we wrap things up, we'll be left
Lane Hammer down to the to the start of the
n C Double A Tournament. I'm excite, got some good

(01:54:01):
tweets to read, but I do want to give kudos
to the crew where nothing without them, Uh Bobo. Great
job with the music and the perspective. Tonight, lethal Lapp
hooked us up with Aaron Torres to talk some n
C Double A tournament. It's on his Partner on Saturday
nights and the Aaron Tourist podcast. Great job by Steve Sager.
By the way, if you missed Aaron Torres or tot Firm,
you can find it on our podcast search Fox Sports

(01:54:22):
Radio weekends on I Heart Radio or however you consume podcast.
Do you want to get your picks in here? Are
you ready to some pre Yeah, yeah, let's do that first.
Let's go ahead. Give me in the movie, give me
a little music. Um, look, I already told you Blake
was that one final piece. I already knew that the
Nets were gonna win it. Anyway, Congratulations to the Brooklyn
Nets for winning the NBA Championship and taking the Lakers

(01:54:45):
down in six games, may not even be the Lakers,
could be the Clippers. Doesn't make a difference. I told
you at the beginning of the year. I'm sticking with
it now for sure. The Nets win the whole thing.
By the way, Michigan State, yes they get in, but
they won't play in the playing game. They'll get a
buy from that. They'll be like an eleven seats, so

(01:55:05):
they'll just miss out. Kentucky, we already know it's not
gonna make the tournament too, because the team that's really
on the bubble, and guess what, they won't make it in.
You are not in the tournament, my friend, which means
Syracuse is definitely on the bubble. I saw a lot
of projections having Syracuse out. I'm putting Syracuse in and

(01:55:25):
I'm putting Drake in. Um So there you go. A
couple other things. Kyle Rudolph is gonna play for the Patriots,
the reports that he wants to go there. I still
think Jimmy Garoppolo is gonna play for the Patriots. Sam
Darnald has done, so's Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson. They'll
all be on three different teams there you have my picks,

(01:55:47):
two of them, as you please. No longer strictly for
entertainment purposes. Only wait, what if he zoned out there
for a second? Deshaun Watson and who else on? Say? Darnald? Okay,
Sam Donald? All right, I'm gonna go three for three? Yeah?
Will you watch this week and not all this week?

(01:56:07):
I was like, that happens this week? This could end
up being one of the greatest Alright, couple of a
couple of quick tweets before Alan Right, Oh my gosh.
I totally agree with the plank. That's a rarity. I
enjoyed the three point contest, and as a basketball fan,
there's nothing better than the greatest pickup game on Earth.
Tonight was fun and I'm happy for the NBA, But

(01:56:30):
of course haters are always present. Arnie Bunker lives. Wow, Okay,
I didn't hate it. I just you know, I wanted
to hear the Carson Wentz Oprah interview and then um,
I would watch the game without the sound on. That's all.
Speaking of that, Paul writes, I would rather watch every
game played by E. J. Manuel and Trip Edwards then

(01:56:52):
watch whatever the royal family thing is, haven't you heard
the joke yet, Paul, it's not the royal family, it's
Carson wentz uh. And then Paul ats, he does look
like Carson. Come on, he does look like Carson uh.
And this is one of the most boring sports weekends
of the year. No, NBA, Well, you had the All
Star Game, still a week out from caring about college basketball,

(01:57:14):
so let's talk NFL. I kind of think we ended
up doing that for a majority of the show. What
about baseball? We got baseball around the corner. We didn't
We didn't fit any baseball in here tonight, did we? Well?
Spring Training? I mean, when you when you could just say, yeah,
I think the inning's done. I'm not feeling it tonight.
Let's let's move on to the next one. You know,
there was not much to talk about that, I guess

(01:57:36):
I have though. I found myself sitting and watching one
of the spring training games. Then all of a sudden,
you're in the seventh inning and you see one of
the dugouts kind of wave goodbye to the other dugouts,
and the guys just leave, and you're like, what are
we done here? What's going on? You don't even have
to go seven? You can wrap it up after five
and uh M g M John Right, imagine if Kyler

(01:57:56):
actually wanted to play baseball, it will be the main
headline in Dead of Russell Wilson. Yeah. I still think
that's the funniest story that Kyler Murray wore in Oakland
A's hat to a Phoenix Suns game, and uh, Pro
Football Talk has to write about how this shows that
he's still gonna play baseball someday. Stop it. I didn't

(01:58:16):
even give it a second thought on that one. You
know what's wrong with you Aarnie? Didn't you see you
were in as hat? That means he really wants to
play baseball and he's going to kopped out of his
contract and go play for the A's And and have
you seen this other I mean, listen, I don't know
how to tell people this, but there's a lot going on.
You don't have to sit around and make stuff up.
I mean that's what Arnie and I that's our job
and make stuff up. I mean, now we've got Kyler

(01:58:39):
Murray going to Houston Texans for Deshaun Watson. I mean,
that's that's the point that we've reached. Now. At that point,
Kyler Murray might end up playing baseball in the end. Uh.
And then one more nature boy rights, they should change
the NBA logo to the stinking Geniuses face on Twitter.
That'll teach the NBA to try to change stuff. What

(01:59:00):
do you think, Well, they already said that they you know,
it takes a long time to make changes like that,
and Silver said that he wasn't going to do it,
um at this point right now. So, uh, they're gonna
keep the logo the way it is. By the way, Uh,
the NBA logo, major League Baseball logo their iconic, you
know what I mean, they're they're phenomenal, those things. Um,
you know you you you remember those things for a

(01:59:24):
long long time. They don't mean they can't be changed, Yeah,
they can be changed. It wasn't always Jerry West. Think
about that, Yeah, it wasn't. Well, you know, the NBA
doesn't admit that's Jerry West anyway. Remember the Baseball tried
to say that was Harmon Killer Brew, but that's not
true either. I don't think who is who is the
baseball logo? I don't know. It's just your you know,
Arnie is it Alisaya? Is it? Tom pag Nazzi? Hurry

(01:59:48):
up our running out of old St. Louis Cardinals. He's
Mike Ramsey Lonnie Smith. Who is it a fun show tonight?
Uh So, I'm i gotta admit I told you I've
been all in on the college basketball season for twenty
four hours now. Actually I think we're going on like
thirty six hours. So I'm a bona fide expert. So
next week, whenever I fill out that bracket, Arnie, I'm
gonna be the most knowledgeable guy on the planet. And

(02:00:11):
I'll also add I don't I don't like to try
to fight with you on your picks because I know
that I'm awful it picks. You are awful. But I
don't think Duke's getting in the only one the only
way that Duke's getting Oh you had Duke otto, I
thought you had him sliding in. I think the only
way that Duke I really need to pay attention to

(02:00:32):
your picks is I totally zone out in there now
during that segment, I'm I'm wrapping up the show. I'm
getting all my stuff put away. I'm ready to go
to bed Um. But if they win the a CC
tournament there obviously in I don't think they're even in
a situation if they win two or three games, but
you know what's going to happen if they do happen
to win one or two games, it'll dominate the college
basketball news cycle for the better part of the early

(02:00:54):
early part of the week. Oh Duke has shown they've
turned things around. They deserve US spot. I think Michigan
State gets in. I think North Carolina gets in. I
don't think Duke is getting in. And then they'll end
up what probably sliding in because the team gets COVID
to a one seed and win the national championship. It'll
just be the luck of Mike Sachowski. All Right, Big
Ben Mallard's coming up next. Already, have a great week,

(02:01:16):
you do for Bobo Lee And to say Planky's already.
We'll see you next week on Fox Sports Radio.
