Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. What a title? Are
you ready? Darkness? The Prints of Darkness. The Prints of
Darkness is in the house of Jonas Knocks. The story
is Jonas Knocks cheap well by God. Like I said,
Judas Knocks is coming through your speakers like the right

(00:22):
cross from a boxer that you've never heard of. What's
going on here and now, live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios. Here's Jonas Knocks. You're really going through with
this hunt Cheese. You know, sometimes no matter what you do,

(00:48):
it's not quite good enough. That's exactly where we find
ourselves with one player in the world of sports. We're
gonna get into that here coming up in just a
couple of moments from now, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio.
You can hang out with us as always on the
I Heart Radio app. You can find us on Sirius
x M channel l D three and on every single

(01:09):
one of our Fox Sports Radio affiliates, hundreds of those
all across the country. Wherever you are taking part in
this program, we appreciate you doing so, making us a
part of your weekend here and kicking your weekend off,
and we will take you all the way up until
six am Eastern time, three o'clock Pacific, right here on
Fox Sports Radio. So I am going to say something

(01:31):
that I feel like a lot of people have can
relate to, or you've felt this at some point in
your life. You ever think you've done something and it's
never good enough. And it could be at your job,
it could be at home, but you feel like you're

(01:51):
doing something great, you feel like you're doing something awesome,
and then there's somebody there that's got to remind you
it's just not good enough. Or maybe they don't even
say it out loud. Maybe they just, you know, dismiss
whatever it is that you did, and they just moved
right on to the next Say, you finally get get
done cleaning out the garage. Everything's in order. Yeah, I
mean you're you're taking care of the kids, You're doing

(02:12):
everything you possibly can. All of a sudden, the wife
comes home and you say hey, and you're waiting for
her to say something, and all she says is, um,
why is it? Why are the toys left in the backyard, Like,
I mean, there's they're gonna get I mean it's cold out,
it's gonna rain to Like what do we and you're
looking around going or do you not see everything else?
I just did, what is this not good enough? Everybody's

(02:33):
found themselves in that spot at some point or another.
And the reason I bring that up is Kawhi Leonard
was awesome on Friday night, absolutely awesome. He was a
murderer in that game, completely outplayed Luca Donky don Check.
He was unbelievable down the stretch. The Clippers felt like

(02:55):
they were on the brink. They couldn't hit a shot,
they were turning the ball over, they were making mistakes,
and Kawhi Leonard, multiple times when it mattered most on
the road, in a packed house in Dallas, just said,
I got this. Totally cool, totally calm. Did what Kawhi
Leonard has done in the postseason so many times. I

(03:16):
got this and he was awesome down the stretch. And
it was one of those vintage Even if you're a
Laker fan and you hate the Clippers because you don't
like the idea of the l a team, the little brother,
the team that's you know, always looking up to you,
maybe making a deeper run in the postseason than you are,
even Laker fans have to look at that performance and

(03:37):
go Hey, man, Lebron couldn't do that this series against
the Sons. I mean, like he poled his team to victory.
Unbelievable performance. At the end of Kawhi Leonard's career. When
it's all said and done, they're gonna go back to
some of his great moments throughout the course of his career.
And one of the ones that are gonna turn to
is they're gonna turn into this game Game six on

(03:58):
Friday night at Dallas. And you know the best part
about it. If they lose in game seven, it doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter if they lose Game seven, it does
not matter because in the moment right now, the feeling
about the Clippers is that's cool. But what else? I mean,

(04:19):
you shouldn't even be in this spot? So what else?
The Clippers keep coming home finding themselves like, hey, look
at what we did on the road, and and their
spouses like yeah, but what about all this stuff? What
about the mess you can't clean up at home? What
about the fact that you gagged away a three one
series lead last year? What about the fact that a
lot of people think you intentionally lost to get the

(04:41):
Dallas Mavericks in the first round. Of the series. Yet
that team has taken you to a seventh game and
had you on the brink after a crummy performance down
the stretch. So what else. That's where the Clippers find themselves.
And I don't know if it has something to do
with the fact that they were lauded when when Paul
George and Kawhi Leonard got together. I don't know if
it was you know, looked at as being the next

(05:02):
super team. But this is an organization that's never won anything.
They've never won. I can remember being a reporter of
field reporter and covering Clipper games and the only reason
I was allowed to go and cover Clipper games is
because they couldn't get anybody else in the media to go.
And I'm not totally exaggerating when I say that they

(05:25):
were dead on arrival. No one cared. You go out
and you make two of the biggest moves that we've
seen in the NBA in a long long time. You
come out last year it was a weird year. You
get to the bubble, you completely fall apart. You got
one guy disappeared into a strip club to go eat
Buffalo Wings. And by the way, Lemon Pepper sucks let's
just go ahead and get right out of the way.

(05:46):
All right. It's either mango habannarrow mixed in with a
little barbecue if you can't handle the spice, or extreme
extreme hot. All right, if you're gonna have wings and
you've got a beer on the side, make them spicy.
But I digress. The Clippers are at a point where
they made this big arrival and then got into the postseason,
fell apart, got into the offseason, tour it apart, Doc Rivers,

(06:09):
you're to blame. You gotta go. All these other pieces
need to move around, and here they are. Kawhi Leonard
puts on a performance like that on a Friday night
in front of everybody to see, and come Sunday after
Game seven if they lose, yes, so what doesn't matter.
Kauahi Leonard finds himself in a spot right now where

(06:31):
we can sit here and celebrate what he did on
a Friday night, and it will be celebrated and looked
at at the end of his career as one of
his great playoff performances, when they've got a list up
on the screen and they're listing all his dominant performances,
it'll be there. But as of right now celebrated, but
they lose Sunday, So what doesn't matter. I don't care

(06:53):
that you did the dishes. I don't care that you
bought me dinner. I don't care that you washed both cars.
I couldn't care less. What I care about is why
our son broke his foot because he was pretending to
be a kite and jumping off the roof. That's where
the Clippers find themselves, and if they don't get it
done on Sunday, it is going to be a mutilation
from the sports media for the next several days afterwards.

(07:16):
Jonas knocks here Fox Sports Radio. Now, if you heard
a sigh of relief, if you were watching on Friday
night when when the final gun sounded, I don't even
know they used a gun at NBA Arenas whatever, when
the final horn sounded at Dallas and the Clippers go
on the road and win that game, if you felt
a sigh of relief, A that was the NBA saying,

(07:41):
thank Christ, we got ourselves a game seven. Thank God,
we got ourselves a game seven. And I actually caught myself.
I caught myself wanting to go one direction with my
opinion and then realizing midway through my opinion. No, no, no, no, no,
I got this completely wrong. I have been a firm believer,

(08:01):
and I've said it on Fox Sports Radio for a
couple of years now. I've been a firm believer. Seven
game series to start the first round of the NBA playoffs.
I'm not a fan. I don't I don't think we
should have them. I think we should go back to
five game series. In fact, you want to throw a
wrench into things, make it a three game series. I
know that's never gonna happen, but I say go back

(08:21):
to the old five game series because, as you can see,
most of these games never get that far anyways. I mean,
we've got one one series going to seven games. Hawks
Knicks was five games, and net Celtics was five games.
The Heat got swept, the Lakers were done in six,
the Blazers were done in six, the Grizzlies one, and

(08:45):
everyone thought, oh my god, we've got an upset on
our hands. That series was over in five. Look around
the NBA, none of them are going the distance except
for one. So I thought to myself, this proves my
point that we should go back to a five game series.
And opening round of the playoffs for a couple of reasons.
I thought, Man, you know you get a five game
series that way, A team like Utah loses that first

(09:06):
game to Memphis and all of a sudden they're on
the ropes. All of a sudden they realized, Man, it
only takes two more of these things and we're going home.
It makes it that much more possible for an upset.
And I also thought, look, if we're not going this
far with these series anyways, white play the extra games.
And that's where I caught myself. The seven game series

(09:27):
is never gonna go anywhere, not just because of the revenue,
but because of the guaranteed revenue. Look throughout every single
series in the opening round of the playoffs, Like look like,
do you think Miami and Milwaukee had it only been
a five game series would have gone any different? I mean,

(09:49):
do you think Brooklyn and Boston would have gone any different?
What about the Wizards and Sixers? No, Joel embiid it
didn't matter. You think that would have gone any different
if they lessen the number of games. So with the
NBA is doing is totally spot on. If we realize
we've got a bunch of mismatches in the first round
by and large, and we've got some bad basketball, by

(10:10):
and large, why the hell would we reduce the number
of games. The only thing worse than a sweep in
a seven game series is a sweep in a five
game series. So if you're the NBA, you're like, let's see,
we can have Miami lose four oh to Milwaukee, or
Miami lose three oh to Milwaukee and we don't get
the revenue from that extra game. Yeah, I think we're

(10:31):
gonna go with the seven game series. It just makes
all the sense in the world. So they're relieved, Trust me,
they're absolutely relieved that they're gonna get a seven game
series and it's gonna be awesome television and great theater,
and they're gonna do a monster number and we're all
gonna be excited. And there are so many storylines that
come out of that, as we've talked about if the
Clippers lose. But all this first round did was proved

(10:54):
the point seven game series aren't going anywhere, because if
you can get a revenue, get the revenue, the matchups
may not be the best, but worse than that, it's
about people not being interested and people not watching and
you're not having the money come through on an extra game.
So if you're looking for a big change in the
NBA playoff format, if you're going, oh, they got the

(11:16):
playing tournament right, but they gotta do something about this
opening round. We only had one seven game series. It
ain't happening, man, And if it is, they're not reducing
the number of games. You've got choices. You can either
have a sweep in a three game series or a
sweep in four straight and the NBA will take that
extra game and then extra revenue. All day long, Jonas

(11:38):
Knocks Fox Sports Radio, Get beyond Twitter at the Jonas
Knocks at the Jonas Knocks on Twitter. We are going
to take you all the way up until six am
Eastern Time, three o'clock Pacific right here on Fox Sports Radio.
We got all the usuals we've got do you care?
Guess that garbage pro wrestler or porn star, the scraps
ticket or stick it, you name it. It's all here.

(12:00):
Four hours of grab bass and Shenan against here on
Fox Sports Radio. But coming up next, there is somebody
very respected in the world of sports and they are
piste off. Find out why next year on FS are
for Jonas. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk

(12:21):
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at
Fox sports Radio dot com and within the I Heart
Radio app search f s R to listen live Jonas
Knocks Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with us
as always on the I Heart Radio app. By the way,
coming up in we will call it a little over
ten minutes from now here on fs are UM. An

(12:44):
NFL team made a move on Friday that I'm assuming
is really going to cause an outrage. I mean, I
am waiting for nothing but negative feedback from this move.
There was a movement in the NFL that I'm telling
you right now, I didn't even know if people have
seen it yet, but once you hear about it, it
is going to cause outrage. We will get to that
here a little over ten minutes from now on Fox

(13:05):
Sports Radio. So, uh, this is great. Uh, this is
just h this is really something here. UM. So recently,
Oklahoma's athletic director came out and he was upset at
Fox Okay because obviously Fox has the college football package
and Fox has you know, uh you know, big newon

(13:27):
Kickoff with you know, Reggie Bush and Matt Leiner. And
Rob Stone and Bob Stoops and who's that? Who's that
other guy? They got something? Who's that Brady Brady? Because
it is it whatever? Some some guy named Brady? Who's
the other guy on that show? But anyways, I haven't either, listen,
I haven't and and and I feel bad for those

(13:48):
guys having to work with him. Could you imagine I'm
gonna work with that guy? I mean, unbelievable talk about
getting kicked in the nuts. And I'm telling you who
wants to work with that guy? But anyways, so obvi,
see Fox has, as you know, the rights to college
football games, and and you know, they go around the country,
and so the schedule comes out, and the schedule is
coming out for college football, which is a couple of

(14:09):
months away, and Oklahoma's athletic director came out because he
was unhappy about a start time to one of their
games against Nebraska. It's like the fiftieth anniversary, it's a
big deal, and he's unhappy that Fox exercised their broadcast
rights in showing the game when they wanted to show

(14:31):
it because he wanted a more primetime spot and Fox
exercised their rights. So they're going to have it on
earlier in the day because they think it's going to
draw a better number. And so Oklahoma's athletic director came
out and he was not pleased about it. Well, he
is not alone, apparently, because Stanford head coach David Shaw,
who's well respected, good dude from everything that I've heard

(14:54):
from people. I've never met him, never talked to him.
Well respected guy, liked by almost everybody he deals with,
and is a phenomenal analyst. By the way he does
stuff during the draft. He's outstanding. But David Shaw comes
out and he's the latest to be upset with Fox
because they are playing Check this out stands from Stanford

(15:14):
is playing Week one at eleven am local time in Arlington,
Texas against Kansas State, which means they're gonna be kicking
off at nine am in California. Now here's the key
portion of that. They would be kicking off at nine

(15:35):
am in California, except they're not in California. They're in Texas,
so it's an eleven am kickoff. But here was David Shaw, alright,
because he went hard in the pain. Alright, this I
have not heard David Shaw like this before. But these
are the quotes from David Shaw quote. I'm piste off
at Fox for our kickoff time against Kansas State. David
Shaw told the athletic for Stanford in particular and Oregon

(15:59):
to be owing and playing in a different time zone
and give us an early kickoff, to me, is incredibly
disrespectful and it shows a lack of understanding of what
we have to do and the way that time difference
truly affects us. It shows a lack of care for
our student athletes. That to me is something that is egregious.
And I don't care who I piss off, but I
think they're wrong. A lot of our people in our

(16:20):
conference are upset to Fox can say whatever they want
to say. I don't want to hear bleep about it. Oh,
it's great ratings. I don't care about the ratings. This
is either complete disregard or lack of understanding how difficult
it is to be a West Coast team that travels
east and gets forced to play and an early kickoff.
I'm not happy with Fox, and I don't care that

(16:40):
they're not going to be happy with my comments. We
have to start sticking up for ourselves as West Coast
teams because we're going to get judged the same, but
we're going to be playing against guys that get to
sleep in their own beds and sleep on their own
time zone and wake up at eight thirty in the morning. Well,
our guys are getting up at six thirty in the
morning and losing those two hours of sleep. Yeah. That

(17:03):
was Stanford's head football coach David Shaw. Those are his
comments to the athletic All right. First off, welcome to
broadcast deals man. Welcome to broadcast deals that make a
lot of people, including you, a bunch of money. What

(17:23):
would you rather have kickoffs at five pm local time
that are shown on Telemundo where you make a fraction
of what you make because of your relationship with Fox
and the trust me. This isn't me sticking up for
Fox because this is Fox Sports Radio. I would say
the same thing about ESPN, CBS, whoever. These broadcast deals

(17:46):
pay a lot of people a lot of money in
college football and in sports period. That would be like
me saying I don't want to read any sponsors because
I feel like it impedes the show. No, that's part
of the revenue stream. It's how this works. It's business.
You may not like it, but them's the rules. You

(18:08):
think Mexican restaurants are around town, You think they like
having to give away chips and salsa. No, they're paying
for that. But they realize, hey man, you gotta give
a little too. You know it's it's not the most
ideal thing, but here's how works. Every time you go
to a barbecue place and you get more sides of bread,
do you think that's free to the restaurant. No, but

(18:29):
they realize, hey, we'll work with you on this, work
with us on the final cost. David Shaw makes a
lot of money and so do a lot of people,
including people at Oklahoma. For them to come out afterwards
and open up the law offices of Bitch and Moan
because you don't like the start time to these kickoffs.
Are you serious? And this is week one. It's not

(18:52):
like you're playing in the NFL and you gotta go
to London one week, fly back and on two days
rest you gotta go play another game new I've got
months to get these guys ready for this, Like this
is like the only egregious thing is how upset David
Shaw is at the fact that his guys have to

(19:13):
kick off at nine am local time. Figure it out. Oh,
And secondly, way to build in an excuse for your players,
Like when your coach comes out and tells you we're
getting wrong because we're having to kick off this early.
You don't mean to tell me that some of those
players if things get rough and they get down to

(19:33):
the stretch and they're trailing by three or four points
to Kansas State, you don't think some of those players
are gonna think to themselves, man, they screwed us. Forget
about this. Why would you build in an excuse. It's
not always gonna be perfect. Do you think the Steelers
and Washington liked playing on a Wednesday this past year?

(19:55):
Do you think Bill Belichick was ecstatic about having to
play a Monday night football game at five eastern with
Cam Newton out with COVID and he's got Jared Stidham
and Brian Hoyers his quarterbacks on the road to Kansas City. No,
but you've got to adjust. Have you not learned anything
from the past fourteen fifteen months? Haven't we all had

(20:15):
to adjust? We've all had to make adjustments we don't
want to have to make. I'm tired of my hands
feeling like an iguana because I got to use sanitizer
so much and wash my hands all the time. All right,
I'd like to not have turtles hanging off the end
of my wrists because of how dry my hands are.
But guess what, it's either that or have filthy hands.

(20:36):
What do you want? You make the adjustment tough balls.
And so now he's building in an excuse for his players.
And I'll say this, this is even worse than Oklahoma's
athletic director complaining, because if you're Lincoln Riley, you can
go to your team and say, listen, I know what
our athletic director said. I agree with him, but forget

(20:58):
about that. Guys. You guys are better than that. Don't
worry about all that stuff. Let's go out and prove
what we're better than this team. And who cares about
the early kick. It's not idea, but we're gonna show
why we rise above. You can sort of be the
middleman and you can use that and use that as
motivation for your team. This is your direct coach, your

(21:18):
head coach, your direct superior who's coming out publicly cursing
and crying because of a star time to a kickoff
a star time because Fox exercise their broadcast rights, broadcast
rights which put a ton of extra money in your pockets.
This is unbelievable. And here's the thing. He'll get no

(21:44):
pushback from anybody. Nobody will say this, No, no, no, no,
nobody will say this because it's a race. As I've
said many times before to kiss Ass on sports radio,
it's a race. I would love to have him on
as a guest. Come on my podcast. Got news for you.
I do weekend overnights. Nobody's coming on this show, all right?

(22:04):
That so I don't care. This is egregious. You want
to talk about the scheduling of a football game months
from now being egregious. This is egregious as a head
coach that you would come out this strong over something
like this. I don't get it, man. And furthermore, if
I'm a degenerate gambler, if I'm a better I'm shopping

(22:27):
around right now and I'm looking for a first half
line on Kansas State in that game. I I am.
I am doing my due diligence to look around and
go where can I get some action on Kansas State?
Because if that team plays at all like their head
coaches messaging is they're gonna come out and crap their
pants for about the first fifteen to twenty minutes of

(22:48):
that first half, and Kansas State's gonna take advantage of it,
complaining because they get asleep and they're not in their
own beds and there it's not even a home game
for Kansas State. It's in Texas. It's not even a
home game. And this is the reaction he's getting. If
I'm a better you search far and wide to find
yourself some first half action on Kansas State against Stanford

(23:11):
Week one, figure out a way to get it done,
and watch and get paid and remember back why you're
getting paid. Because their head coach bitched and moaned about
a start time to a game months away in June,
that's crazy to me. I think this is a terrible

(23:33):
look for David Shaw. And if I'm his players, if
I'm not rallying around him saying, you know what, you're right,
we're getting screwed. If I'm some of his players, I'm like, wait,
hold on a second. This is the same guy who
tells us deal with adversity. You gotta deal with this,
you gotta deal with that. I'm telling you right now,
off a look for David Shahn, the Stanford football program,
Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio, get me on Twitter at

(23:56):
the Jonas Knocks at the Jonas Knocks on Twitter. Do
you want to welcome to the crew. They're gonna be
writing Shotgun with me until six am Eastern time. Here
on FS are ladies and gentlemen. The voice of l
A Sports Radio, Kevin Figures. I find it funny. Jonah
is just a couple of years ago Stanford opened a
regular season against Northwestern, and I believe that game kicked
off maybe even a thirty Pacific time and they had

(24:19):
no no problems being now, so what I'm talking about,
it's unbelieved. I saw the quotes and I'm like, wait,
hold on a second. Is he is he being? Is
this like for real? Like like Oklahoma is a d
saying it? Man, he's gonna cry because he you know,
he wants We're all about the local five and we
want more people to come to our tailgates. That's fine, whatever,
this is your head coach. Like I don't I don't

(24:41):
want to like how like how does he how does
this just happen? And and people run around and go,
oh man, you know he's got a point, man, They
really got done dirty. Okay, here's a compromise. Give up
half your salary and and go get up, you know,
go set up a broadcast deal with like YouTube or
somebody else, like give up half your salary if you
don't like it, and just it's the nature of the beast.

(25:03):
That's what we do with, you know. Paul George mentioned
this after the Clippers one on Friday night. They have
to play at Staples Center in Game seven at noon
twelve thirty Pacific time, and he says, we generally over
the last couple of years have not played well with
early starts. But it's the hand we're dealt. We have
to win. This is the situation. That's what it is.
You know. The four letter network, you know, pays prime
dollar to be able to put games, big games in

(25:24):
that primetime window. And that's that's what it is. That's
the hand that you're dealt. Will deal with the complaining
about it's not gonna do any good. That's unbelievable. And
I normally don't like to read quotes on the air,
but I I read those and I thought I've got it,
Like this has to be passed along. This is unbelievable.
Like it's like I'm just wanting to be have tears
in his eyes, like towards the end was here it
was was he weeping David Shaw after It's just the

(25:46):
thought of, oh my god, how how dare we don't
get to sleep in our own bed? We lose two
hours of sleep? You got three months to get ready
for this game, Like, I just it's that's crazy. And
the Pac twelve started doing this last year and it
talked about let me they had a couple of nine
am kickoff games local time for West Coast games last year.
This is not new. They did this last Stanford may

(26:06):
have missed those windows last year, but USC had to
don't do it. Arizona State had a couple of those
early kicks. It's the nature of the beast. If you
want to get more exposure, if you want to keep
complaining about people not watching your games because they kick
off too late, then you can't complain when they put
you on the early Onedow complained about that too. It's
just complain, complain, complain. I'm over. It's just it's ridiculous,
but you know it doesn't complain. Chris Perfett, Our technical

(26:29):
producer here at Fox Sports Radio complain from that. It's
not complaining, not complaining, even though I just spent fourteen
hours without power this week. Yeah, that's all right, that's well,
I mean, you know what it's like being amish, all right,
So now you now you can get just just amish
without any kind of warning. So apparently from what I understand,
and this was about twelve thousand people in the valley

(26:52):
and yeah, DWP and Glorious Standard format just not updating
anyone on what was going on. But so we just
from what go ahead. No, I'm just gonna say, apparently
it all stemmed from a milar balloon getting in like
a transformer or a generator or something. So we've gone
from people getting killed by gender reveal parties to birthday

(27:15):
parties now clearly taking out power for entire neighborhoods. So
we just introduce you with you don't complain, and you
followed up with that, Yeah, I mean there's a there's
a level of irony there that I mean, you know,
that's it's it that's the most like playing. Yes, it's
that sort of comedic time in which people have grown
to expect here at at Fox Sports Radio exactly by

(27:35):
the way we do have it is a newbie night
here on FS are and now and no Bo Benson
as our normal executive producer. He doesn't care about this show,
but he come out. He's he's above weekend overnight. Um.
Nick Battaglia is actually a training to become an executive producer,
doing some some fill in duties. Now, is Bo in
the building or did he go drink with Lee and

(27:57):
and Mike Harmon at the Pineapple set? What the sick
masses going to do next? He's, uh, he's in the
back here. He's just he's he is though he is
there there there there is a bottle of something near him.
I'm not not gonna go check it. The label has
been torn off. It smells awful, but you know, he's

(28:18):
he's clearly hit it up. There's just there. There's there's
rappers littered all over the back of the Fox Sports
Radio studios. It's he's a bit of a mess right now.
Let's I mean, listen, we we will accept that here
because it's not the week days that we can get
away with that sort of behavior here on Fox Sports Radio. Now,
Nick Bataglia is Nick Pataglia available or is he too

(28:39):
nervous to talk into the mike. I mean, this is
this happens from time to time. I'm gonna here, John,
that's what's going on. Man. Listen, Nicko, welcome to the
chaos at his weekend overnights. Um, if if Chris Perfect
whatever looks distressed in the studio, I just want you
to know it's not you. It's because somebody else is
making fun of the Lions head coach because he wore

(28:59):
racing helmet and try to have fun at a press conference.
All right, So just just know that it's definitely not you.
It's people in the media looking for something else to
bully the Detroit Lions franchise about. Fantastic. Yeah, I just
just want to make that clear. By the way, Prefet,
you gotta admit I'm one of the only people that
doesn't pick folk fun at the Detroit Lions, one of
the some of the laziest see such a weird thing,

(29:20):
like it's like, oh, we want better for the Lions. No,
you really don't. And just this idea that there's I
love the idea that there's only one way to coach,
right that if you you gotta dress the right way.
You gotta look the right way. You've got to sound
like a CEO. You've got to get up in the
right morning, your fenge way and your chee has to
be just right. And if you do that, then you

(29:41):
will be Bill Belichick. Don't disregard all the winning, disregard
actually having a good game plan or whatever. No, it's
all about that. You've got to look like a CEO.
That's the only thing that will matter. Right. And how
dare you put on a racing helmet because you're the
grand Marshal of the Detroit Grand Prix. How dare you
have some fun at O t s. It's just it's ridiculous.
It's been going on, It's it is stood the test

(30:02):
of time. Make fun of the Lions, bully, the Browns,
the usual suspects, and who knows. I mean, if we're
feeling if I'm feeling froggy, maybe I'll jump on that
train at some point. All right, Jonas knocks here Fox
Sports Radio. Um, we will be taking you all the
way up until six am Eastern time here on fs ARE.

Back to Jonas Knocks. Thanks keV Jonas Knocks here on
Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in ten minutes from now

(31:46):
here on fs ARE the NFL could look very very different,
very very soon. We will tell you why that is
coming up ten minutes from now on Fox Sports Radio.
So this is um. Look, I am not I mean,
I I just want to be able to pass along
a message, UM and get the news out there. I'm
not trying to to piss anybody off. I'm not trying

(32:08):
to egg anybody on, but I'm just I can't believe
this crap and I don't know why this continues to happen.
And uh, I'm as outraged as the next guy. Um,
the Tennessee Titans have completely disrespected UM, all of us.
They've just disrespected you, they disrespected me, They've disrespected offensive
line play. The Tennessee Titans did something so unbelievably out

(32:32):
of line. They went and signed a wrestler to play
offensive line, a three time All American named Adam Coon,
a guy who hadn't played since high school. They signed
him to try out for the team. Can you believe
that the nerve of them to bring in some guy

(32:54):
who who hasn't played since high school, some guy who
hasn't played in all these years? Can you believe that?
In fact? And this guy, I mean, he was a wrestler,
Like I mean, now, I'm assuming I haven't been on
social media, but I'm assuming this will be like this
was the lead on a bunch of other shows and
and a bunch of hot takes were out there. I
mean I'm assuming, I mean, just based on the Tim

(33:14):
Tebow reaction, I'm assuming that this was that this was
the same. No. Also, oh okay, oh, you mean like
this happens a lot where teams kick the tires on thing. Okay,
I I just want to make sure, right, because I
was assuming that there was gonna be a ton of

(33:35):
outrage over the Tennessee Titans bringing in a guy who
hadn't played that position uh in the NFL and then
hadn't played since high school. I was assuming that that
was the case. But apparently not. So apparently it is
just a Tim Tebow thing. Like I just here's here's
what I wish. I wish people in sports media would

(33:55):
just come clean and just say, we don't like that
Tim Tebow's back in the news. We love the Tim
Tebow's back in the news because we can give this
fake take like we're outraged by it. Yet what we're
really saying is it gives us content and material, so
we're all good with it. It's like people in the

(34:16):
media who pretended they were outraged by the Houston Astros, like,
oh my god, what a disgusting act. They should take
away their rings and throw away the trophy and they
should dismantle the franchise. Yet secretly what they were saying, man,
that gives us great content. I mean, my god, It's
like the people who came out and said, mo, I'm
so sick of the Dak Prescott contract talks. Who cares.
Nobody cares, But deep down they loved it because it

(34:39):
was a debate that was evergreen. You could have the
talk and it wasn't going anywhere. Just come clean and
say it. You got an issue with Tim Tebow getting
an opportunity because it's a it's a fake outrage, it's fraudulent,
it's not true. You don't really have an issue with it.
In fact, you love the idea of Tim Tebow being
in the news because you can dig up some of
your old takes. Because as you've seen with Kelvin Benjamin

(35:02):
getting an opportunity to play tight end and this guy
who's a collegiate wrestler and a three time All American
stud who's getting a try out as an offensive lineman,
as you see, this is not abnormal. In fact, it's
pretty normal to kick the tires on things like this.
Fair enough, Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio, Get me on
Twitter at the Jonas Knocks at the Jonas Knocks on Twitter.

(35:24):
Coming up next, The NFL could look very very different,
very very soon. We'll tell you why. Here on FS
are First and Foremast I just have it. Jonas Knocks
Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in a little over ten
minutes from now, top of the next hours, some interesting
comments from an NFL head coach. We will get into
all of that. It's regarding not only his current quarterbacks,

(35:48):
but his previous quarterback. So very very interesting commentary. We'll
have that for you. Hear coming up a little over
ten minutes from now on Fox Sports Radio. Right now, though,
it is time him before something we do on the
show every single week, and it's time for this. There's
so many stories in the world of sports, and most

(36:10):
of them are a complete waste of time. M reports.
Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big stories from
the last week. But Jonas, the real question is do
you care? And for that we turn it over to
executive producer Nick Paglia to find out what the hell
people have been talking about. Nick. Alright, Jonas. So, the
NFL is looking to expand its brand outside of the

(36:32):
United States even further by possibly playing games in Germany
in two or three stadiums like a Lion Stadium in Munich,
and cities like Frankfurt, Berlin, Cologne, and Dusseldorf have been listed.
As possible host cities. Do you care? Okay, I do care.
That's why I care, because I think it's good news
for people who don't want an NFL franchise in London,

(36:56):
because I think the NFL was trying to have an
internet a constant international presence. And if you've got a
schedule set up to where you're going to London a
couple of games a year, you're going to Germany, you're
going to Mexico, you're going wherever it is that they're
playing games, now, I think that it's gonna be less
enticing for them to want to go sit a team

(37:19):
in London. And the team people were wanting to send
there was the Jacksonville Jaguars. They've got a bunch of
upgrades happening. You've got some new uh, some new energy,
some new life with Urban Meyer there and Trevor Lawrence
and the great Tim Tebow is gonna be a Hall
of Famer as a tight end. With all that being said,
I think it's good news. I don't believe we're going
to have a team permanently stationed in London, which I

(37:40):
don't think anybody was a fan of. Next. Okay, so
after eliminating the Los Angeles Lakers. The Phoenix Suns now
have eight to one odds to win the NBA title.
Do you care? No, I don't listen. I'm sorry. I'm
out on NBA title odds. I gotta be honest with you.
I heard all year, and I said it multiple times
on fox Board Radio. I heard it all year. Oh,

(38:01):
don't worry about it. The Lakers will be fine. Everything's
gonna be okay. Don't worry about the injuries. They'll get
back healthy. It's why they're still one of the favorites
to win the NBA title. And it took six games.
And now Lebron James Is is playing with cartoons and
Anthony Davis looks like a weekend of Bernie Stunt double. Like,
I'm sorry, man, I just I can't get into these

(38:22):
these NBA Finals odds. I don't think the odds makers
know what the hell they're talking about next. Alright, So
George Hellis brought to Chicago Bears for one and the
team has since been owned by the same family. Now
do the family in fighting? The team is reportedly maybe
up for sale. Do you care? I do, because if
you first of all, if you can buy a franchise

(38:47):
in any sport. You make the move because sports is
one of the things that continues to ascend, and when
you've got gambling and everything else that goes along with it,
I mean, there's there's a lot that you can do
with this. I had a buddy who who's who sold
a company, and I mean he's filthy rich, filthy rich,
he's got another company already. I mean he's a multi multi, multi,
multi multimillionaire, uh, filthy rich guy. His goal has always

(39:11):
been he wants to be an owner of a team,
like that's his goal because he realizes that's one of
the businesses that continues to climb and continues to improve.
So if the Bears are in fact up for sale,
and by the way, I highly doubt it, I highly
doubt they're gonna they're gonna lose. It's a family run business.
It will be like the Lakers selling and the Bus
family selling. If the Bears end up selling, they are
going to have a ton of bidders. And I'd be

(39:33):
fascinated to see how much this team actually goes for
next By that, for I wouldn't give him twenty cents.
So an autograph two thousand three Lebron James Rookie card
number one of fifteen and has a ten autograph grade.
Is expected the cell between a hundred fifty thousand dollars
and two or fifty thousand dollars at auction this month.

(39:53):
Do you care? No, I don't. I don't care right now,
we don't care. I don't care, Like I don't like
what does this do for anybody? Like? Like, I mean, look,
I can understand you pay. You pay two hundred bucks
for a pair of Lebron shoes because you can walk
around to them, you can tie them, you can match
your outfit. What do you do the trading card? Like

(40:15):
some woman comes over, you're trying to impress her and
she goes, got I love your place? Oh yeah, you
think that's something? Check out this Lebron card Like she's
hanging around for that, Like like, what do you do?
But it was just like, uh, you got the Game
of Thrones figurines staying around the house. You geek, get
out of here. Next. After announcing them in January, Hostess
has reportedly canceled its planned Ghostbusters afterlife them twinkies. Do

(40:39):
you care? Yeah, I do care? What listen? We can
argue about the Ghostbusters all we want, you cannot argue
the fact that Ecto Cooler is one of the greatest
drinks of all time. Like like people could say whatever
they want about all Capri san and juice boxes. Here
man Ecto cool lerk came out of the gates firing

(41:01):
back in the day. That was a must have if
you were a kid. And the fact that they can't
figure it out all these years later and get some
twinkies done, I think it's a complete dotal outrage. By
the way, what is with Hostess Snacks always having some
raunchy name you think about like Ho Hos Ding Dong's weird.

You can check out the show on the I Heart

right here on Fox Sports Radio. By the way, before

(42:08):
we do here from this NFL head coach and very
interesting commentary if you miss the first hour of the program.
We like to base uh the the success rate of
the first hour of the program on the tweets and
feedback that we have gotten. Um guy on Twitter called
me a soft ass millennial. Uh said I'm obsessed with TikTok.

(42:36):
Another guy writes in UH and says that I'm a
suck ass ball washing scumbag for the Clippers and that
Luca is gonna drop a forty point triple double on
our ass and take the w n L A while
I'm in my Paul George gear. So that is a

(42:57):
That's just a quick recap of the first hour here
on the program. As we continue to strive to be
better and better here on fs ARE, but already nothing
but positive feedback from everybody enjoying the program thus far.
And the best part is we got another three hours
to play with. So I mean, if that doesn't make
you feel good about things, I don't know what will
here on fs are all right. So we transition from

(43:20):
that over to the NFL, UH, and we discuss a
situation in the NFL involving one team who's got a
very unique quarterback situation this year. Well it's unique to them, um,
unique to them because they've got a couple of guys
on the roster. There was some news that came out
that maybe it wasn't the best news in the whole world.
So we go to New England where um cam Newton

(43:41):
suffered some sort of a hand issue. It's not it
doesn't appear to be anything serious, but of course you
know slow news. Day's Friday that the reports come out, etcetera, etcetera.
So all of that is happening, and you've also got
Mac Jones who's in the building there New England, and
from the people on the outside who just want to

(44:03):
swim in the negative part of the pool. And trust me,
I like to swim there too. It's fun over there.
It's fun, you know that, you know, like I like
that but there's also some people who like to who
like to pick apart certain things about players that really
don't matter at all. Like like one of those was,
oh did you see Mac Jones standing next to Cam Newton?
My god, they didn't even look the same, all right? Uh,

(44:28):
did anybody see Doug Flutie standing next to Rob Johnson?
Ask yourselves who did you want? Did you see Drew
Brees standing next to Jamis Winston last year? Ask yourself
who did you want to under center? Like, come on, now,
what are we talking about it? That doesn't even matter.
Cam Newton makes everybody look small, alright. Anybody could stand
next to Cam Newton. The guy is an unbelievable freak,

(44:50):
top of the food chain athlete. He could make anybody
look tiny. I mean, those like you can't he can't
compare with that, al right, So so so that's for diculous.
The other thing is, oh, my god, he's uh, you know,
he doesn't he's so unimpressive. He's got the number fifty
on and it's just like, we're not sure this is
gonna it's okay, all right, we can we can do

(45:11):
all that all we want. We can, you know, try
and say, well, it doesn't look the part, and next
to Cam Newton, it doesn't feel the part. All of
that stuff, none of it matters. What matters is whether
or not Bill Belichick believes in him, and whether or
not Bill Belichick thinks that that mac Jones is doing
the right thing. So Belichick had some comments about mac
Jones's progression. This was from Friday. Take a listen. I

(45:35):
think Max, you know, he has a pretty good understanding of,
you know, the things that we do, and then you know,
he has to go out there and do and they
get comfortable with him. So you know, it's a process.
And we've had, you know a number of other players
at that quarterback position come in and go through that.
You know, some sometimes it starts a little slower and
then picks up. Sometimes it starts a little higher and

(45:55):
slows down. We'll just have to see how it goes.
But he's working hard, you know, he he's puts in
a lot of time and certainly given his very best
effort to do everything we've asked him to do and
do it the way that we've asked him to do it,
which you know is a great place to start. And
and um, you know, he's learned a lot of respect
for that. But I mean he's got a long way
to go. We'll see how it goes. So a couple

(46:16):
of things. You can listen to Belichick talk and he
can go, well, he's not really saying anything, but he
actually is a right. So a couple of things are happening.
Belichick is basically acknowledging this is a guy who knows
my culture. He knows what this culture is. He came
from Alabama. Like who's one of Belichick's best friends in
all of coaching, Nick Saban. So it's not like mac

(46:42):
Jones came from you know, uh, you know, the the
fun and gun of Hawaii where they're drinking big waves
and going up and down the field, and then all
of a sudden you send him to Foxborough and it's
like he's shell shocked, Like I, I I this is not
I was used to the island life. I don't know
what this is about. No, he came from this like
he he came from the Nick Saban Uh practices. It's

(47:07):
a grind. You must be a perfect beyond time be
Like he came from that, you know, that sort of
regimented program, that's sort of culture. He's used to all this.
That's why the move makes sense. So Belichick acknowledging he
knows sort of what's happening and what to expect. He
knows what we're looking for. It's because Belichick is saying,

(47:29):
this is nothing different from what you dealt with before. Yeah,
the teammates are different, the competitions different, it's you know,
it's at a higher level. All of that is fair.
But what we're asking you to do is similar to
what you were being asked to do at Alabama. I mean,
Saban and Belichick have coached together a long time. They've
known each other a long time. The fact that Belichick

(47:53):
for the first time it took a quarterback in the
first round and it's a Nick Saban disciple tells me
a lot about what conversations they had about, Hey man,
this guy will be okay. Trust me, this guy is
gonna be okay in that culture, in that environment, in
that scene, everything's gonna be okay. He may not start
the first year, he may not, you know, get into

(48:13):
games the first season of the first couple of seasons,
but I'm telling you it's not going to be a
culture shock when he gets to New England and he
sees how hard you are on some of the players.
When he sees what is what is expected, it's not
gonna He's not gonna be shook by it. He's used
to this because of where he came from. So that's
the first thing that's happening. Here's the other thing. And

(48:35):
this could be minor, this could be uh, you know,
just pure coincidence, but I don't think it is. You
notice how complimentary Belichick's been of his last two quarterbacks, Like,
like I'm I'm talking about quarterbacks, noteworthy quarterbacks, not to
dismiss Jared Stidham or Brian Horrier, but I think we

(48:58):
all recognize those guys were kind of you know, they're
just in case. But the two most notable quarterbacks in
the past year for the New England Patriots have been
Cam Newton and Mac Jones. Last year, Belichick could not
speak highly enough of Cam Newton, talking about his work, ethic,

(49:19):
talking about him as a teammate. It's part of the
reason why Belichick wanted him back, because he was so
impressed by Cam Newton's ability to come in for pennies
on the dollar, a guy who, of all the quarterbacks
that could could that should sit out and demand more
money and demand this, and demand that Cam Newton's the

(49:40):
guy's former MVP, former m VB in the league and
came in humble, worked his ass off and was playing
really well, then got hit with COVID. There were a
couple of games and w but like Cam Newton with
all the injuries and being banged up and not and
not having a lot of time to work with the
playbook and going through over and all that stuff, and

(50:01):
Belichick loved him and could not say enough nice things
about him. And then he gets this rookie quarterback in
in mac Jones and he's talking about how he's, you know,
earning the respect of his teammates and he's doing a
really good job. And we got a long ways to go,
but we like the effort he's putting in. Like he's
very complimentary of these two quarterbacks. And I don't think

(50:26):
it's any coincidence that they're the two most notable quarterbacks
in New England since Tom Brady left. And what was
one of the big knocks on Belichick and Brady's relationship,
Tom Brady didn't feel appreciated. You didn't hear Belichick come
out very often and praised tom Brady in public. Now

(50:46):
towards the end, when tom Brady was off and it
was determined he was going to be leaving New England,
Belichick had some some statement in which he said, oh,
he's a great quarterback, one of the graves of alter
whatever he said. But his time there in New England,
and when he had that face time that Facebook miniseries
in which Giselle, his wife, was in the car saying,
you know, you just want to be respected for what
it is that you do. Belichick didn't really give tom

(51:08):
Brady a whole lot of public compliments. I mean, I
can't think of of more than you know, on on
one one hand, I can't come more than on one hand,
the number of times Belichick came out and spoke glowingly
of tom Brady. Yet less than a year later he
could not say enough nice things about Cam Newton. And
then Matt Jones hasn't even played in a game, we

(51:29):
haven't even gotten a training camp. He's wearing the number
fifty like he's Mike Rabel, and Belichick is is complimenting
in him on on his progress and how he's learning
and adapted to the culture. I don't think that's any coincidence.
In fact, I think it's very possible and probably likely
that Belichick, maybe, upon further review, after Tom Brady left,

(51:53):
said you know what, maybe I could do myself some
good by kind of letting these guys know publicly, Hey,
I got your back. Hey, you know what, maybe I
could have done a little bit more of that with Tom. Hey,
I got your back. I know there's a lot of
pressure at this position. I know what's going on, But
you know what, I got your back. Cam Newton, listen, man,

(52:16):
I know what you've gone through. I know the knock
on you. I know everybody thinks that your career is
over and you're a shell of what you were as
a quarterback. Guess what, publicly, I got your back. I
got you Mac Jones. Look, man, I know people are
poking fun at you. You got on a linebackers number
uh and and people are making fun of your body
type next to Cam Newton, and they're making is laughing

(52:36):
at how you fell in the draft. You're supposed to
go to the top three and you ended up in
the teens. Don't worry about it. I got you. Like
I wonder if Belichick acknowledged either in a private moment
or having a conversation with somebody close to him. I
could have done more on my end. I could have
done more on my end to make Tom Brady feel
more appreciated. And if being a great coach is about

(52:59):
knowing where you could better, I wonder if Belichick acknowledged
that was one of the things he had to work on,
because think about it, he's now given in less than
a year, he's now given Cam Newton and Mac Jones
more public compliments than he gave Tom Brady in twenty.

(53:21):
In less than a year, he's given those guys more
backing publicly than he gave Tom Brady in twenty of
those I just wonder if Belichick looked around, stared at
the situation, figured out what could I have done better?
And one of the things he came across was, you
know what, maybe I could have these guys back more publicly,

(53:42):
like after the flake Gate, you know, like like you're
in this together, you're a team. What did Belichick say
talked to the quarterback about that? I just I didn't
it was so annoyed at the whole situation. Talked to
the quarterback about that? Did Here's Belichick talking about Cam
Newton coming off a subpar year, talking about Mac Jones
who hasn't even played a snap in the NFL, and

(54:03):
he's got their back publicly. I don't think it's any coincidence.

Up next, I am going to defend somebody that isn't
getting a lot of defense in the world of sports.
I'll tell you who it is next year on fs ARE,
Jonas is killing it Today Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up in ten minutes from now here. On fs ARE,

(54:47):
we are going to have another edition of Guests that Garbage.
If you've never heard the game before, it is uh
NFL Trivia and it is the number one NFL trivia
show anywhere on Sports Radio eight seven seven on Foxes
the phone number eight seven seven six three six nine.
If you want to be a part of it, if

(55:08):
you've got the balls, if you think you know the NFL,
and you want to try and test your wits here
on national radio on the biggest stage on the planet,
eight seven seven nine on Foxes the phone number eight
seven seven six three six nine. Guests that garbage coming
up here in about ten minutes from now on Fox

(55:28):
Sports Radio. So I would like to defend somebody who's
not getting a lot of defense, right. This is somebody
who is being attacked. Um, and that's somebody is the
Lakers training staff who got it good on Thursday night. Man,
you would have thought that they rolled out a dead body, uh,

(55:52):
that that Anthony Davis was on life support and the
Lakers pulled the plug and then rolled them out there
on a gertie to just try and figure out whether
or not you could play. I mean, it was like
unbelievable to see the outrage of the of Anthony Davis
playing and how could you do that? And you you
put him in harm's way and you know that it

(56:12):
was it was mal practice. So that's what it was.
It was malpractice. Let me tell you something. I think
people were calling mal practice because I think some people
have just figured out what malpractice meant, and they just
wanted to use the works. They thought it was cool.
I can remember being a kid, it was a true story.
There was a book on the bookshelf. All right. So

(56:33):
back in the day, for those of you that are
a little bit younger, back before you had everything on
your phone, there were actual books. So they were these
things to where you open it up and there's words
on pieces of paper and then you read those to
get your knowledge. You know. Nowadays you just you know,
put your phone on your tap your phone, thumb on
your phone, and you open it up and you open

(56:54):
up snap face, uh, and you've got to tell one
of the Paul brothers who's got some hot take on
global warming? Like it's just, you know, it's a whole
different time. But there was this book on the shelf
and it said the title of the book was how
to Fix Damn Near Everything. Like literally, I remember this vividly,

(57:15):
how to fix damn Near Everything. And I went around
the house and I kept saying the title of that
book as many times as I could, because I realized
there was kind of a dirty word in there, but
as long as I was saying just the title, I
knew I could get away with it. So it's almost
like I learned this new delivery of the word damn,

(57:35):
and I just couldn't stop saying it. I think a
lot of people learned what malpractice meant on Thursday night
and just couldn't stop saying it because it absolutely did
not apply to the Anthony Davis situation at all whatsoever.
And I got news for you. I love Charles Barkley.
Charles Barkley might be my favorite analyst of all time
in any sport. Love him. UH. The T n T

(57:57):
Show NBA on t NT UH a unbelievable product, outstanding work.
I watched it every time. In fact, I would rather
watch that studio show than majority of the games, Honest
to god. I love what they do. But if you're
Charles Barkley, you can't come out one game, call the
guys street clothes, and then come out the next game
and say he shouldn't have been out there. There was

(58:20):
no chance Anthony Davis was gonna not play in that game.
He was going to give it a go and try
and get in that game, like, there was zero chance
that it was gonna go any other way than Anthony
Davis suiting up and getting out there because he had
been ridiculed, he had been mocked. He knew what was

(58:40):
on the line if Anthony Davis couldn't get out there
and give it a go in the pivotal game, the
game to decide the entire season for the Lakers, he
knew what he was like. You think these guys don't
hear this stuff. You think they're not on social media?
Seeing that the hashtag street closes trending and Anthony it
was like, oh, what does that mean? Oh, they're talking
about me. That was Charles Barkley making a joke about me.

(59:02):
Of course he was gonna get out there. So we
can't have it both ways. He can't mock the guy
because he's always injured and then come back and say,
oh my god, he shouldn't have been out there. Of
course he was gonna play. Oh what's on the training staff?
The training staff should should look out for as well being.
I got news for you. If you ask a trainer,

(59:23):
they're gonna tell you a lot of time. Maybe it
isn't the best thing in the world for this guy
to go out and play with set injury. But you
know what, those guys are gonna go out and do
what they do because that's what they do. Of Course
they're gonna go of course they're gonna try and gut
it out and get out there. Like it's like how
many fighters do you see get knocked down in a

(59:43):
in a fight and they get up and the ref goes,
are you okay? And the guys stumbling He goes, yeah,
that's gonna be their stock answer. There was no chance
Anthony Davis wasn't getting out on that floor. It's just like,
there was no chance he was gonna be out There
were rdless. Now, the criticism of him always being hurt

(01:00:03):
totally fair. That's a real thing. And there's a lot
of people who are looking at Anthony Davis going, did
you gotta do something? Man? Like, there's gotta be something
with it with you, with your training regimen. There's gonna
be something you do different. Whatever it is that you're
doing right now isn't working because there's constantly health concerns,
constantly health issues. I like, you have to do like,

(01:00:26):
there's gotta be something there. But this idea that the
training it's like that. It's like that Kevin Durant stuff
from a couple of years ago. Like like whenever when
Kevin Durant went out there and and popped his achilles
in the NBA Finals and everybody just buried the Golden
State Warriors. How could they do that to Kevin Durant.
They put him in harm's way. And Kevin Durant came

(01:00:47):
out afterwards and said, Man, I'm a hooper. I hoop
That's what I do. They knew the risk, but they
know what they know the risk. Like, not everybody is
looking to get burned by a cup of hot coffee
at McDonald's so that they can sue McDonald's for it, Okay,
Like like not everybody's a tool, just just some people

(01:01:10):
are aware. Like not everybody looks for the easy way
out all the time so that they can complain about something.
You know, Not everybody sees a hair in their in
their in their food when they go out to eat
and demands that they get the entire check for free.
How many times I've been at a bar and I've
realized drinking out of a glass that the part of

(01:01:32):
the glass was chipped, And I don't know whether I
may have swallowed a little piece of glass or how
close I came to cutting open my lip on the
piece of glass. You know how many times I've given
the beer back and said I demand a free one zero.
You don't know why, because I'm not a candy ass.
I'm not some cheap skate who's looking for the easy
way out. Anthony Davis wasn't gonna look for the easy

(01:01:53):
way out. He wasn't gonna sit there and say no, no, no,
I gotta look out for my body. He was gonna
give it a go. Man. Training staff could say whatever
the hell they wanted. They could say whatever the hell
they wanted. Anthony Davis is going to give it a go.
This idea that all what's up? How how could they do?
They could have jeopardized his career. Stop. This is what happens.

(01:02:15):
It's it's it's a push and pull between the trainers,
between coaches, between players. Guys want to get out there,
they want to play. There's a risk to being out
there all the time. This is how this goes. Do
you think anybody on that floor last night, do you
think anybody just felt, man, we're all good here. You know,

(01:02:36):
all those guys are icing up afterwards. All those guys
have got ice bags on their knees or their feet
or I mean, come on, you're pounding your feet into
the ground on a hard surface for seventy plus games
a year. Then you get to the playoffs, it's even
more intense. She had a quick turnaround from the off season.
Of course, nobody's acent, but there was zero chance Anthony

(01:02:57):
Davis wasn't going to get out there. But this idea
that the Lakers put him in harm's way, and how
could they do that to him? Come on, man, stop
coddling everybody. He was out there because he wanted to
be out there. Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio. You can
get me on Twitter at the Jonas Knocks at the
Jonas Knocks on Twitter. All right, Coming up next, We're

(01:03:18):
going to have another edition of Guests at Garbage eight seven, seven,
nine nine on Foxes. The phone number guests that Garbage
is yours. It is NFL Trivia. Uh. It is the
number one NFL trivia show in all the land. And
the reason why it is so successful is because you
guys are terrible at this. So if you think you
know the NFL, if you've been paying close enough attention

(01:03:39):
to the NFL over the past several days, eight seven, seven,
nine nine on Fox, the phone number eight seven seven nine,
six six three six nine guests at garbage is yours next.
But for all the latest, it's Kevin Figgers, all right.
And there was a Game seven on tap in the NBA.
Kawhi Leonard finished with forty five points. That as a
playoff career high, or it's highs his playoff career high,

(01:04:01):
I should say, leading the Clippers to way one oh
four to nineties seven win over the Mavericks in Dallas.
The road team has won every game in this series.
Game seven will take place on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.
The Trail Blazers and head coach Cherry Stotts have agreed
to part ways, and according to Shamas Suranny of the
Athletic and Stadium, Clippers assistant Chauncey Billups and Lakers assistant
Jason Kidd are front runners for the Portlands job and

(01:04:23):
baseball Blake's not allowed just one hit and struck out ten,
while many Machado hit a home run for the padres
Is they beat the Mets two to nothing. Giants have
won eight of their last ten. They beat the Cubs
eight to five, hitting four home runs off of the Cubs.
Red Sox with a five toitute victory over the Yankees,
Raphael Devers with the home run there, Dodgers beating the Braves.
Wins for the White Sox, A's and the Angels. Second

(01:04:44):
round of the Standing Cup Playoffs, Las Vegas beat Colorado
three to two. Avalanche lead that series two games to one.
Montreal with the victory over Winnipeg, taking a two games
to one lead in their series one. Nothing was the
score in that one. Back to Jonas Knocks. Thanks Cap
Jonas Knocks here Fox Sports Radio. You can listen to
the show on the I Heart Radio app coming up
fifteen minutes from now here on fs ARE. I don't

(01:05:07):
understand the complaints. There was a football story that came
out over the past hours. There were some people complaining
about it. I don't get it. I really don't. I
don't understand it. I think it's nothing but good news.
We will have that for you here fifteen minutes from
now on Fox Sports Radio. Right now, though, it is
time for something we do on the show and it's
called this Oh my god, what the hell is that smell.

(01:05:29):
These two teams flat out it always has sunk. He stinks,
stinks he Welcome to the baby. How does that? It
is that time? Every single week here on Fox Sports Radio,
we go around the country sometimes we even go around
the world, and we see who out there knows their NFL,

(01:05:51):
or better yet, who out there thinks they know their NFL.
And we test you in recent NFL stories and see
who's been paying close enough attention, and we do you
get things started here in Nashville where Blind Sea Bass
is listening here on Fox Sports Radio. Blind what's happening? How,

(01:06:11):
I'm good man? What are you doing? What are you drinking? Blind?
All right? Now? Now what flavor? Moonshine? What are we
working with tonight or the slash this morning? So you're
just going with the clear stuff? Yeah, it's simple, clear,
all right. So now let me ask you this because
I have never had moonshine, or I don't think I have.
I might have. I might have sipped it when I

(01:06:32):
lived in Charleston, South Carolina once, but and who knows,
I was mangled at the time, so it could have
been it could have been VCR cleaner. I have no idea,
but when you when you have moonshine, do you just
poured into a glass with ice or like, how do
you serve moonshine? I'm curious? I just during off. Okay,

(01:06:54):
so you don't even bother getting like another glass to
be fancy. You just go straight to the jar. Yep
um already two ounce wide mount? Now how much how
much of that do you drinking a night? Hm? I
may have a couple of shots and I may drink

(01:07:15):
about half of it one night. That's very good, all right,
Well i'd expect nothing lass. All right, So here we go,
Blind Sea bass Is he is sipping on the shine
here on Fox Sports Radio. So here's the question I
have for you. So Tyrod Taylor, he is the quarterback
for the Houston Texans. They got a little bit of
an issue with the the guy they expected to be
their starter. He's got some stuff going on. But um,

(01:07:36):
Tyrod Taylor, uh, you know, talked about how how great
the opportunity was to be able to be a leader, etcetera,
etcetera for the Houston Texans. My question for you is this, Blind,
the Texans will make Tyrod Taylor's fifth NFL team name
three of his previous stops. So I know it was

(01:07:56):
in Cleveland, Okay, Buffalo, all right? Um, the Charger there
it is. I mean, do you want to go for
for four? You've already got it. Um. And I think
that he was here in Kenneth, now he was. It
was Baltimore. He was actually started his career in Baltimore.

(01:08:18):
But nonetheless you got him correct. That is a correct answer,
Blind Sea Bass. Yes, Tyrod Taylor, the Ravens, Bills, Browns Chargers,
and now Houston Texans projected to be one of the
worst teams in recent NFL history, So that is correct
from Blind Sea Bass. In Nashville, Jonah knocks here Fox
Sports Radio. We continue on and we go to San
Francisco where Mikey is listening here on fs are Mikey,

(01:08:41):
what's happening? Hey? I was going there, brother. Uh you
tell me what are you doing? Mike You what's going
on in San Franz? Oh man, I'm just kicking back here.
Um on the California's fine this if you know what
I mean? They're brother. All right. So, so you're walking
the Green Wolf. I take it late night stroll with

(01:09:01):
the green Wolf. Yeah, a little late night stroll here
down by the beach. So you know what I mean,
little shampooon God's hair, so to speak, Like I get
another all of that, man, I mean, you know we
don't test on this show. That's all right, So another
all of that now, I will. Let's say he's not
he's just hanging out, man. I mean, it's you know,

(01:09:22):
we're in California. You gotta be able to do something.
I mean, look, once the warden lets us out into
the wreck yard come June fifteen, I mean, it's gonna
be chaos. But we'll get to that point when we
get there. Um now, Ben Roethlisberger, Um, he talked earlier
this week Mikey about his pay cut. It was his idea,
he wanted to help the team, so on and so forth.
My question for you is this true or false? Ben

(01:09:44):
Roethlisberger has a losing record in the playoffs. Is that
true or false? Oh? Man, that is going to be true.
That is incorrect. In correct, that is false. Ben Roethlisberger
actually thirteen and nine all time in the postseason. Very
very successful. That Ben Roethlisberger in the NFL playoffs. Alright,

(01:10:06):
So so we go from Mikey and San Francisco up
north further to j J in Seattle with us here
on Fox Sports Radio, j J, what's happening? Not my fan?
About two hours ago? Hanging out at home? What are
you drinking? Man? Uh? Pholosophic glass of milk and had
some microwavable burritos. Not okay, So you had milk with

(01:10:30):
microwave burritos. Yeah, I mean listen, like, just a stunning
development if you don't have to wake up in about
because you're going to crap your pants. I mean, just
a stunning day. Like I would be shocked if you
if if you gave me a shot of milk, I
wouldn't be able to get through this segment. Like I

(01:10:51):
would literally have to call in from the bathroom to
finish the show, like if I Yeah, I'm telling you,
Brian Finley's right, man. I mean, so you're a better
man than me. You got a better, stronger stomach than
I do, that's for sure. JJ. Alright, So here's here's
my question for you. So we're talking about Ben Roethlisberger.
And speaking of Ben Roethlisberger, the Pittsburgh Steelers actually added

(01:11:11):
a quarterback this offseason who is a former first round pick.
Who is it? All right? I couldn't hell yeah, yeah,
think all right, think Washington four first round pick. Yeah

(01:11:36):
he is, Yes, that is correct. Dwayne Haskins is a
Pittsburgh Steeler and who knows whether or not he'll get
an opportunity to play. But that is correct. At Dwayne Haskins.
I mean I tried to help him out a little
bit there, but when you're polishing off a microwave burrito
with milk, um, I'm trying to make some portion of
his night go smooth. All right. So so we go

(01:11:57):
from JJ and Seattle to Michael, who is an Oregon
listening here on Fox Sports Radio. Michael, what's happening? Nothing months,
somebody yourself, just hanging out man, doing a sports radio,
just hanging out with the guys, drinking some coffee. Let's
take a sip of the coffee. Do you mind if
I take a sip of my coffee? Do you care? Alright? Cool?

(01:12:18):
What do you got? Are you drinking anything? Okay, well,
take a drink out of yours. I don't want to
drink alone. Come on, man, don't be sot right now,
it's still hot. It's good, all right. So now have
we've done that, um, and we have we've established that.
I got a question for you here. So last season,

(01:12:42):
there was a team in the NFL that had a
season high fifteen game losing streak, Like think about like
fifty game losing streak in the NFL. What team was that?
Michael Jacksonville Jaguars. That is correctly at you, That is
that is very correct the Jaguars who pulled off a

(01:13:05):
stunner Week one against the Indianapolis Colts and everybody thought, man,
you know what, maybe Jacksonville is onto something. Maybe they're
not gonna be all that bad. Uh, and they lost
fifteen in a row. So yes, that is correct. Alright,
Final one and for this we go to the Midwest
where Stephen is in Wisconsin here on Fox Sports Radio. Stephen,
what's happening? Good morning. I'd like to express my gratitude

(01:13:26):
to Fox Sports Radio, Jonas Knox and Rush Limbaugh for
dumping that creep Clay Travis. Very good. Well, I can
once again enjoy Early morning Sports Radio. Hey listen, hey,
look Stephen Man. Uh, you know everybody has got got
their own opinions. Uh, Clay is a good man. He's
always been good to me. So so, I have nothing,
no harsh words to say about Clay Travis. He's always

(01:13:47):
been a good dude to me. So however you feel
is how you feel. Now, do you want to play
Guests at Garbage? You wanna have some fun here? Let's
do it, all right? So here we go. Um, there
has been talk the Minnesota Vikings wanted to draft Justin
Fields at number eight overall. All right, so so that
was some serious talk. There were rumors out there over

(01:14:09):
the past separate days. My question for you is this,
who is the last quarterback the Vikings drafted in the
first round? And it's multiple choice. I want you to
listen to all the options before you take your guests.
Wasn't Dante Colepepper, Teddy Bridgewater, Christian Ponder, Sam Bradford or
Iowa Sam? Iowa Sam. That is correct? Job well done,

(01:14:35):
That is correct. You guess the ringer on the multiple choice,
you get the correct answer. The real answer is Teddy Bridgewater,
but Iowa Sam is an acceptable answer in response, And
with that, a four and one performance on this week's
edition of Guests at Garbage, no doubt about it. One
of the best performances you guys have had in a

(01:14:57):
long long time, which only me means we're gonna go
ahead and ratchet up the difficulty next week. We're gonna
make things a little bit more difficult because we like
it when you guys are bad at this game, and
when you go four out of five, it just makes
us look it makes us look dumb. All right, Yeah,
I'm telling you we're gonna go ahead and and figure
out a way to make it make it that much
more difficult next week, all right, Jonas knocks here FSR.

(01:15:17):
Get me on Twitter at the Jonas Knocks at the
Jonas Knocks on Twitter. Coming up next, There is something
that came out in the world of football, some news
over the past forty eight hours. I don't understand why
people are upset about it. This is good news. I'll
tell you what it is next year on f s R.

(01:15:37):
Jonas Knocks Fox Sports Radio, coming up top of next
hour a little over ten minutes from now here on
fs are UM. I don't understand the approach that one
team is taking with their quarterback situation. It is very,
very strange. We will get into all of that here
top of next hour, a little over ten minutes from
now here on Fox Sports Radio. I was just assaulted.

(01:15:59):
I don't know who I need to talk to, but
I was just assaulted during the break um by Nick,
our executive producer. He is training to become a producer
here at Fox Sports Radio. Bo Benson. Um could not
care less. Bo Benson's like, oh, I need to get married.
I don't want to work on this show anymore. Like whatever, dude,
But Nick just assaulted me during the break um and

(01:16:19):
attacked me because I mispronounced his last name. So, Nick, I,
first of all, I want to apologize on the air.
I didn't know I needed to to get roughed up
like that and man handled during the show. But how
did I pronounce your name? And then how how should
I have pronounced your name? Please? So the way you
pronounced my name was Battaglia, but actually the G is
silence Battalia. Okay, well listen, what do you My last

(01:16:44):
name is Knox. I haven't had to There's been no
issues with with pronouncing my name. I mean, it's just
what my name rhymes with, which people have fun with.
So like, look, I uh, I'm sorry. I just you know,
I didn't think the the physical altercation was necessary to
be honest with you. Yeah, I thought you. I thought
you were a peace crazy I just I thought I

(01:17:05):
thought there's gonna be a peaceful relationship. I'm already off
to a terrible start. I mean, it's not the worst.
Your heart later that it's actually not the worst. Pronunciation.
My college graduation, somebody pronounced it's my name on the stage, Baragoulia.
Oh that's good. That's that sounds like that sounds like
something you order of bukaa bepo. That's that's good, Bagulia.

(01:17:26):
That's that's really good. All right? Can we make a
can somebody do a Twitter parody account of Nick Botakulia
or what is it? What is it? Ulia? That's what
the guy said. I wrote it fanatically on the car
the way it's supposed to be said, and he still
said Botigulia. All right, Well that's good. Alright, So so
people will I'm sure somebody will have some fun with
that and make up a Twitter account for Nick. Here

(01:17:49):
on Fox Sports Radio. By the way, where can they
find you on Twitter? Nick at Merk with one arm? Yeah,
so mirk with one arms where you can find him?
And now you know the the the Twitter parody account
you can set up for and we can have some fun,
all right. So I don't understand why people are this
distraught about this. Uh, it's like, oh, we don't need
any more of this. It doesn't work. What are we doing?

(01:18:11):
So this announcement comes out from Fox that they've you know,
bought all the U s FL names from back in
the day. They're going to have the USFL. But like,
I don't I gonna be like, I don't know. I
wasn't able to get a whole lot of details on it.
It was just a the U s FL is gonna
be back, and we're gonna do this potential spring league again.
They've got a spring league going and and people are

(01:18:32):
looking at this going this is ridiculous. They're talking about
how the A a F didn't work, and how the
XFL didn't work twenty years ago, and that the most
recent example of the XFL didn't work, and people keep
trying these spring leagues for football and they don't work.
Here's what I understand. How could you not root for
more opportunities, because that's all this is. These are players

(01:18:57):
that are getting an opportunity to continue to sue their
dream and they're gonna put it on in the springtime
when there's no real competition to worry about, like, how
is this a bad thing? Oh, it's not the greatest
football in the world. And who cares during the springtime
when you when you're jones in for some football, do

(01:19:20):
you care? Like you know how many people complain about
the NFL season being as long as it is. And
then you get to about May and you're like, man,
I'd kill for a Jaguars game right now, Like, give
me anything, I'll take a Jaguars game. Like this is
this is more opportunities for players who are pursuing their
dream to continue pursuing their dream and if it ends

(01:19:40):
up going nowhere, the who cares? And I would also
push back on this. This idea that the most recent
examples of spring leagues didn't work, I think are a
little bit over the top. All Right, The a F
didn't work because financially it was a disaster. The a
F wanted to be the first to relaunch. They wanted
to be the first spring league out of the gate,

(01:20:01):
and so they jumped the gun without having real funding available.
Thus they had to borrow money from the NHL in
order to make it happen. Like when when when you're
borrowing money from the NHL in order to keep your
league afloat, and paychecks are bouncing, literally bouncing. You jumped
the gun and you wanted to open your doors first

(01:20:22):
because you wanted to beat the XFL. But the second
launch of the XFL, it was having success, they were
doing well. What ended up happening was the pandemic and
everything got shut down and Vince McMahon panicked and they
had to make moves. Vince McMahon still trying to figure
out what they're doing because of the pandemic, because their

(01:20:43):
inability to tour. They just released a bunch of wrestlers
this past week. I talked to Brady Quinn. He was
in Tampa getting ready to call an XFL game. It's
true story. His producer comes to him and says, we're done,

(01:21:05):
and he says, what do you mean We're done? He goes,
they're shutting it down because of the pandemic. Like everybody
was excited about it. Everybody was fired up about it.
So this idea that all none of these leagues work,
and it's not gonna work. At the very least, it's
giving players who want to continue to pursue their dream
an opportunity to do so, and the people that are

(01:21:26):
complaining about it, I don't know what the problem is.
It's not hurting you at all. Jonas Knocks, Fox Sports Radio.

zero sense whatsoever. We will get into that coming up

Knocks Fox Sports Radio. You can hang out with us

us a part of your weekend and getting your weekend
started here on Fox Sports radio. So the quarterback situation

(01:22:32):
in Chicago is one of the most interesting ones heading
into the season. It's really interesting because the Bears find
themselves all twisted up and knots. Like if you had
a clear path, like if you knew right away, all right,
this is gonna be our quarterback moving forward, and this

(01:22:52):
is gonna be our front office moving forward, and that's
gonna be our head coach moving forward. It makes the
transition so much easier, Like it's an easier path to detect.
It's such an easier path to understand, Like, man, I
know what's happening in Jacksonville. Urban Meyer's your head coach,
Trevor Lawrence is your quarterback, and you go forward. It's

(01:23:16):
easy to like, it is pretty clear, pretty obvious. You
know what's happening. Like everybody is connected, you're on the
same page. We were all good here, Like you go
to San Francisco, we know what's going on in San Francisco.
You got Jimmy Garoppolo, who's the veteran quarterback there. You've

(01:23:38):
got Trey Lance who's the developmental rookie quarterback, and you're
hoping that Jimmy Garoppolo, you know, you know if he
plays well enough that the forty Niners will be in contention.
But worst case scenario, you got your coach in place,
you get your front office in place, and you've got
your quarterback of the future in place, and your quarterback
of the president place. You know what's happening. There no questions.

(01:24:02):
We understand completely what the plan is at quarterback when
it comes to Trey Lance, and when it comes to
Jimmy Garoppolo, and when it comes to the forty Niners.
And you could say whatever it is you want about
the Jets like you can. You can say, man, this
is one of the worst round of organizations in all
of sports. Fair enough, but guess what, I know what

(01:24:24):
their plan is. Robert Salez your head coach, Zach Wilson's
your rookie quarterback. They're connected, they're joined at the hip,
and you move forward. All of it makes sense. And
then you get to Chicago and you got a veteran
quarterback who's looking at to, you know, stay in the
league for as long as possible. Uh. You got a

(01:24:46):
front office in which you've got a general manager who's
contract is up at the end of this year. You
got a head coach whose contract is the up at
next at the end of next year, they're both sort
of on the hot seat to where you gotta get
something done this year, else they're both gone because there's
been quite marks about their handling and drafting of quarterbacks.
And then you go out and you move up and
you draft a quarterback of the future this year. It's

(01:25:07):
all over the place. Nobody's timelines add up, nobody's timelines
are connected. It's all it's all over the place, which
is why from the get go I've been saying, if
you're a Bears fan really really excited about Justin Fields
being the quarterback of the future, just so you understand,
and so you know there's a real likelihood that even

(01:25:29):
if Justin Fields comes in and shows some sort of
a promise and shows something this year that he could
be the guy in the future, there's a real chance
that there's gonna be a step back in year two
because if Justin Fields comes in but the season has
already done and the Bears finished seven and ten or
six and eleven, they're gonna be getting a new head

(01:25:51):
coach and they're gonna be getting a new general manager,
and there's no guarantees that that GM and that head
coach are gonna be all in on Justin fields. Like
these two guys were like, he got like, you gotta
slow down. I get it. Great upside, one of one
of the great quarterback talents to ever appear in the
in the city of Chicago. And you can say, oh, yeah,

(01:26:11):
that's not saying much. They've drafted quarterbacks in the first round.
They've had quarterbacks with major upside, but nobody like this,
Nobody that was their own, that their organization aggressively pursued.
Who's got a chip on his shoulder, and then a
lot of people can think could be the next big
thing in the NFL if he gets the right coaching
and he gets the right pieces around him, and then

(01:26:32):
on top of that, you got his quarterback in front
of him. That's Andy Dalton news. It's it's like the
whole thing is weird. But this is where it gets
even weirder. There's a report out for Mike Florio that
Andy Dalton has been promised that he is going to
be the Week one starter for the Chicago Bears. Okay,

(01:26:53):
if that's the case, and the organization has already come
out and promised Andy Dalton that he's the week one starter.
Then I have no idea what the hell they're doing.
Like imagine if the Seattle Seahawks did that same thing,
if they told Matt Flynn back in the day, Hey man,
we know we drafted this Russell Wilson guy, but don't
worry about it. Guaranteed you're gonna be our starter. What

(01:27:16):
conversation are we having? I just think about that, like, like,
what what conversations are we actually having? Like you could
say whatever you want about the Texans and and Deshaun
Watson and and let mean, you know, he's he's got
his own issues, you know, way way too many massage
therapists for for me, I mean, it doesn't really make
sense why you would have that many. But not listen,

(01:27:38):
we will we will get to that when that story
gets figured out and we go through all that stuff.
But it took Bill O'Brien, one half of football, Deshaun
Watson's rookie years ago. All right, he's the best quarterback
in the roster. Let's go, Like, like what are we
doing here? Like, let's go. But I don't recall them
coming out guaranteeing the starting job to somebody else, Like

(01:27:59):
like I don't recall Pete Carroll coming out and guaranteeing
the starting job to Matt Flynn, because if that's the case,
what's the point of competition in camp, If we're just
gonna hand out jobs, what's the point, like, like, why
would you And if you don't think that that wouldn't
two players on that team if they go. If you

(01:28:22):
get out to train and this is a very real possibility,
you're gonna get out to training camp and Justin Fields
is gonna have a better arm, he's gonna have he's
gonna be bigger, he's gonna be faster, he's going to
be more athletic, all of the physical attributes you will
be able to see with your own uneducated eyes favor

(01:28:44):
Justin Fields. And if all of that is happening and
he's out playing Andy Dalton, and you still decide Andy
Dalton is going to be your starting quarterback Week one,
when you got a sofa to take on the Rams,
you don't think some of the players in that locker
room are gonna be shaking their head, especially after what
they've gone through the past couple of years with the
quarterback situation. We saw it a year ago. I talked

(01:29:09):
about it on the air. There was a player at
Bears training camp who said, look, man, we don't know
why they're waiting so long to name Mitch Drabinsky the starter.
He's been better than Nick Foles the entire camp. They
all saw it. It was right there. He was out

(01:29:30):
playing Nick Foles the entire camp, and they couldn't figure out.
And then finally when you saw that Nick Foles was
put into the lineup after Rabinsky through an interception on
the road, you realized, oh, they were looking for whatever
reason they could to get Nick Foles into the lineup.
They were just they were They were play cating to

(01:29:50):
Mitch Drabinsky, just hoping he was going to make a
mistake so they could say, see and what ended up happening.
Nick Foles came in, he stunk and went back to
Mit dr Biski, who ended up getting them back into
the playoffs. If you do something similar to that two
years in a row, good luck, man, Good luck selling

(01:30:10):
that to your team and that defense and all those
players who can see with their own two eyes. The
better quarterback is justin fields. And I say this rooting
for Andy Dalton because I think Andy Dalton has got
a little bit of a raw deal because I think
people look at Andy Dalton they go, oh my god,

(01:30:31):
Andy Dalton. You know what you get with Andy Dalton. Well,
I mean, here's what you get with Andy Dalton. Uh.
You get a bunch of years in a row that
you went to the playoffs with Andy Dalton. You can say, oh,
well he he didn't win a playoff game. Okay, fine,
fair enough. But in a division where you've got Pittsburgh
and Baltimore, you're going to the postseason that many years

(01:30:52):
in a row. In the a f C, dealing with
New England like like, that's saying something. Man, you could
you could say whatever you want about not winning playoff
games and Rarvin Lewis and they couldn't get it done
in the postseason. Andy Dalton's put up some pretty good numbers.
He's played good football before. So I say all of
this hoping Andy Dalton plays well because I think a
lot of people mock Andy Dalton's career and I don't.

(01:31:13):
I think he's actually had a pretty good career. I
think when it's all said and then, you're gonna look
back at Andy Dalton's career and you go, you know,
what man, that guy was pretty good. But if you
get to camp and Justin Fields is out playing Andy Dalton,
what are you waiting for? Like? Like, what what do
we what are waiting like? Jay Cutler came out and

(01:31:36):
was saying, Man, if I was Justin Fields, if I
were them, I wouldn't play him right away, especially in
a place like Chicago. You know, I I wouldn't play
Justin Fields right away. Well, first of all, that's Jay
Cutler's experience in Chicago. He was never liked in Chicago.
I've always defended j Cutler. I've always said, look, man,
best quarterback in the history of the franchise, not even close,

(01:31:58):
best quarterback in the history of franchise, and a guy
who played behind awful offensive lines. I mean, this is
a true story. At one point when Jay Cutler was
first in Chicago, they had to take the seven step
drop out of the offense, had to completely remove it
from the offense because Jay Cutler didn't have enough time

(01:32:20):
to drop back seven steps because he kept getting hit.
That's true. There's a true story. So it's not like
he had a ton to work with. And so I've
always defended Jay Cutler, and I've always defended Andy Dalton,
but if he But Jay Cutler is saying that is
from his experience in Chicago. Man, if Justin Fields gets

(01:32:43):
to camp and he's outperforming Andy Dalton, if he, if he,
if it's obvious to everybody, better arm, more athletic, faster,
making all the reads. Uh maybe not as polished when
it comes to the offense. But but a guy that
you look at and go all right, he just need
some live action, some real reps in order to get
If all of that is happening and you still roll

(01:33:06):
out Andy Dalton week one against the Rams, you're gonna
you're gonna risk losing the locker room. I think that's
a real thing that could possibly happen. And that's why
this handling of Andy Dalton and Justin Field and that
quarterback room this offseason is one of the most interesting
things to watch in the NFL in Chicago. Jonas Knocks

so let's get into a story. I love all right.
I love scandals in the world of sports. I think
they're phenomenal. Um. You know, I'm not one of these
uh you know, pretentious sports talk radio hosts, of these

(01:35:17):
people in sports media who just who try and find
the real core values. Like, man, this is this is
for entertainment, alright, Like let's have some fun here, all right.
The Houston Astros cheating and using trash cans and electronic devices.
That that's a story for the whole family. I think
that's a wonderful story. I thought it was a lot
of fun to cover. It was a lot of fun

(01:35:38):
to make fun of it. It's still a lot of
fun to mock. I mean, come on, that story gives
you juice for days. Um, whether it's a p D
s Um, whether it's you know, like Bob Bafford, like
the Kentucky Derby stuff that came out. Man, the idea
that We're gonna rip Bob Bafford and ban him from
Churchill Downs because his horse was on some have be

(01:36:00):
an illegal substance that was taken inside the window in
which you can't take it. Is just bizarre the old
Here's this is what I tell people. If an alien
landed on Earth and asked you to describe horse racing,
your response would be, oh, well, you know, it's a

(01:36:22):
it's an animal, and uh, this really small human being
rides on its back in a circle and tries to
beat other animals with a small human being on their back,
also running in circles. And if the horse wins, it
gets flowers as a necklace and then gets to have
sex for the next twenty years. The alien would look

(01:36:43):
at you and say, you're serious, Like you guys, you
do that? Like what what? And the idea that we're
now going to ban people from tracks because these horses
are who cares? Like I don't care that any these
horses are on steroids, like little bit of pions. Like

(01:37:04):
I said earlier this week, I want a Lamborghini with
giant teeth. That's what I want. Like I don't I
don't like give them as much juice as possible. Who cares.
The whole thing's ridiculous, So we're gonna be ridiculous. Let's
be ridiculous all the way. So when it comes to
these scandals, I think a lot of this stuff is
really entertaining and really fun to talk about. Here's the

(01:37:26):
latest Major League Baseball. They are going to start cracking
down on what they are calling doctored baseballs. Right, these
are foreign substances on these baseballs. And there's been some
pictures that have been accused of it, Trevor Bauer being
one of them, Garrett Cole being another. Uh, there was

(01:37:46):
a picture for the Cardinals who was Who's given grief
by a by an umpire? Recently, like there are pictures
that have been rumored to maybe be doctoring baseballs. And
so the Major League Baseball has got a problem because
nobody can get a hit. Um, you know, pictures have
been dominant. You've got like, you know, five no hitters
already this season. Blake Snell almost had another one on

(01:38:07):
Friday night, And so the conversation has come up, how
do you fix this issue? And the subject of doctored
baseballs is now becoming a popular topic of conversation, and
so um Earlier on Fox Sports Radio, I had a
chance to catch up with John Paul Morosy, he covers
the MLB for MLB Network, Fox Sports Radio MLB Insider,

(01:38:28):
and I asked him why all of a sudden the
cracking down of doctored baseballs and what does it mean
moving forward. We all know that MLB has been concerned
about the lack of offense, the lack of balls and
play more specifically in recent years, and it's really come
to a head this year in many ways with the
high strike out rate uh and and the reduced number

(01:38:50):
of balls in play, and Baseball has realized that this
is not a problem that could be solved only by
changing the approach of offensive players. But that's something untoward
or illegal from the from the standpoint of the baseball
rules is going on. And this they believe. If MLB

(01:39:11):
is is able to find a way to address this
issue of of substances on balls, that potentially that we
will see a more normal brand of pitching and a
more familiar brand of the ball being hit into play.
And so that's why that's why baseball cares. It cares
A because the rules are being broken clearly, and B

(01:39:35):
they care because it's changing the way the product looks
in a way that makes it, in Baseball's judgment, less appealing.
And so through the first half of the season, the
first two months, Baseball has been looking into the gathering
Baseball's gathering data, looking into just how deep this problem is.

(01:39:56):
And and there's an understanding that in some cases that
there are maybe a little bits of of of substance
on balls to help players get a pictures, get a
better grip, and they're they're basically okay with that. But
what they are not okay with is substances being placed
on balls to an extent that it actually meaningfully changes

(01:40:16):
the trajectory of the pitch in a way that makes
it more advantageous of the picture. And that is now
something that that after gathering data, that they are going
to look at and guys. Really interestingly, according to reports,
Baseball is now going to be able to advise umpiring
crews that, hey, the last time this picture through there

(01:40:39):
was a lot of substance on the ball. Be on
lookout for it, and if you see it happening again,
you can eject them. And so that's that's now where
we're at. We're basically it's it's helping the umpires enforce
the rules already on the books if and when people
are violating them in an egregious fashion. All Right, I
love all of this, every single element of it. That

(01:41:00):
was John Pomerossi earlier on Friday on Fox Sports Radio
talking about the these the MLB looking into doctor Baseball's right.
Here's what I love most about this is that this
is sort of looked at is like slap on the
wrist stuff. Guy, you know, doctors a baseball. It's like,
you know, listen, man, don't ever do it again. Maybe

(01:41:20):
you get suspended for a game or two whatever, But
if you take a p e D, you're just not
allowed to be in the Hall of Fame. Like you
take a p e D and you are banished and
ridiculed for life. Like you're you're like, you're like, you
can't even sniff getting into a Hall of Fame if
you took a p D back in the day. But

(01:41:41):
if you doctor a baseball slap on the wrist, you know,
we'll look into it. We'll do it in the middle
of the season. And we're doing this because we want
to improve the game. What do you think is more
more considered more of a cheating violation taking a performance
enhancing drug or doctoring a baseball that's used in the

(01:42:02):
field of play. I will argue ten times out of
ten that doctoring a baseball is I consider more of
an advantage than taking a performance enhancing drug, because there's
no guarantees when you take a steroid or a p
e D that you're going to hit a ball. There's

(01:42:22):
no guarantees. Now you'll recover faster. You might a ball
that you would hit four feet before might go four
and twenty ft now like you might be able to
your body will respond better, or maybe get around faster.
On on like, like, all of that is fair. But
you know many people probably took p e d s

(01:42:45):
and got from single A to double A and that's it.
Or how many people took p e d s and
it didn't really help them at all. They still couldn't play.
This idea that we just look at p D s
as being the most egregious form of cheating is crazy z.
But if you took an actual ball that was in
the field of play and scuffed it up or put

(01:43:07):
in on vassoline or Chris go or w D forty
or snot or or chewing tobacco or whatever it is
that they're using to to to, you know, finagle the
rules and get an advantage. That, to me, is a
more direct impact on what's happening in the game than
some guy who took a supplement that may or may

(01:43:29):
not help him get a base hit. But the way
that we look at both of these is completely different.
It's completely and and furthermore, this is why I always
caution people, if you're gonna come out hard on the
Houston Astros, understand what you're doing. And I said it

(01:43:50):
at the time. This isn't revisionist history. I said this
at the time. One of the things that you started
to find out when all of the details hills of
the Astros cheating scandal came out, one of the things
that you a common theme that you heard throughout all
that was, oh, yeah, we knew the Astros have been
doing this for quite some time, Like you were, multiple players,

(01:44:12):
multiple players, multiple people around Major League Baseball say that,
oh yeah, we knew the Astros were up to stuff
years ago. Why didn't anybody say anything. You knew it
was happening, you knew it was cheating. Why didn't anybody
say anything. You want to know why, because everybody was
doing something. Nobody's gonna blow the whistle, Like, you know,

(01:44:33):
who's not going to call the cops on a drug
dealer another drug dealer, Like it's never gonna happen. Nobody
in Major League Baseball was gonna say anything at the
time about the Astros doing anything illegal, because if you
look hard enough, you can find something illegal being done
in your house. That so this idea that the Astros

(01:44:57):
were the only team doing it and that p e.
D s. Let just fix that and we and once
we fix those two things, we don't have to worry
about anything else. No, no, no, you do because there
are still players that test positive. There are still people
that that are that are stealing signs, There are still
people that are scuffing up baseballs, are using illegal substances.
It's you can't get rid of all this. You can

(01:45:19):
try and monitor it, you can try and police it,
but the idea that you're gonna be able to rid
yourself of all this stuff is crazy. Steroids got labeled
as the black eye from Major League Baseball. I got
news for you. Major League Baseball has been putting on
mask eara for a long time, and you want to
know why, because both eyes have been black for decades now, well,

(01:45:41):
so and so can't get into the Hall of Fame.
Ty cops in the Hall of Fame. And as of
as far as I know, talk to enough people, he
murdered somebody and that guy's in the Hall of Fame.
The the the the idea of what we pick and
choose to be illegal, and cheating is one of the
most is one of the most comical things about Major

(01:46:03):
League Baseball. And that being said, as I said at
the start of all this, I love it. I love
all of this. I wish there was a cheating scandal
every weekend baseball. I think it's fun. It makes this
job more fun. And I'm not gonna get up tight
about it if somebody else is bending the rules a
little bit to try and get an advantage. Jonas knocks

Weekler love that you have an affection for big masses.
That day it is that time pro wrestler or porn star.
Here on Fox Sports Radio, we go around the country
occasionally we even go around the world and we see
who out there wants to be a part of the

(01:48:55):
hottest game show anywhere on sports talk radio, and we
will get at things started with a familiar friend, a
man listening up north in Canada. He is Cowboy in Windsor, Ontario,
with us here on Fox Sports Radio. Cowboy, what's happening
so much? I just want to wish my cousin movement.

(01:49:16):
Mays is in the College Football Hall of Fame and
played for the Saints in the eighties. And happy fifty
eighth birthday at least will be fifty eight tomorrow. Is
that it? Well? Uh? And let me see Jerry U. S.
Bonds was one of my favorite singers when I was
growing up, will be eighty two tomorrow, and Betther Harrelson

(01:49:36):
will be seventy seven. He place and manage in New
York mets. He was born on d Day, you know,
June sixth. Interesting, anybody, anybody die on this day? Cowboy
usually throwing some some dead bodies here from time to time. Well,
the two minutes ago to row Sonator Robert Kennedy died

(01:49:59):
after he was shout by their hands. Their hand is
a pal Finian sympathizer. You just one of the Democratic
Uh yeah, you know, the California Democratic primer. He was
the desumptive Democratic nominee for Yeah, I know, and Duke
Sims is a form of Major League players eighty today

(01:50:20):
and the first eight USAS cases are forty years ago today.
You know, Cowboy, that was the door I probably shouldn't
have opened. But again, now you are if anybody knows
those answers, you know those answers, and we are happy
to have you here. Now, Cowboy, do you want to
play some pro wrestler? Oh? Yes, okay, well, I mean
I just about dead bodies, I do, uh, and Cowboy

(01:50:43):
continues to deliver. All right, So let's see who's going
to compete against Cowboy in Windsor, Ontario. And for that
we go to Tennessee. We're freak Master is listening here
on Fox Sports Radio, freak Master, what's happening? Hey, we're
going on. You tell me what are you doing? Freak Master?
What's happening in your world on a Saturday morning? Oh? Night?

(01:51:06):
Up here? Yeah, I'm here listening to your show. I
love it. Yeah, I listened to it every comely are
you so? And uh? I mean yeah? Well now listen,

(01:51:27):
I mean and and thank you for calling us. We
were gonna call you, but you beat us to the punch.
We appreciate you. You hopping on? Now? Do you want
to play pro wrestler or a porn star? Yeah? Okay,
all right, well it sounds like a plan. All right,
so here we go. Everybody fired up for this. Everybody
a definitely a willing participant. Here this works. I've got
a list of names here. I'm gonna give a name

(01:51:48):
to Cowboy and Windsor, then I'm gonna go to freak
Master in Tennessee. You have to tell me whether or
not it's the name of a pro wrestler or a
porn star. And if we end up tied at the
end of this list, we have a tiebreaker question. So
if you guys are ready to go, we'll get things started. Everybody.
All right, there we go. All right, So Cowboy in Windsor,

(01:52:09):
you are first up here on pro Wrestler porn Star Cowboy.
The name for you is Chloe Cotur. Is that a
pro wrestler or a porn star? That is correct? Very
confident Cowboy and Windsor is on the board. That is correct.
We go over to freak Master and Tennessee. Freak Master,
the name for you is Frank Towers, pro wrestler or

(01:52:33):
a porn star for that is incorrect this time. Now,
that is incorrect. Frank Towers is a porn star, but
it is early in the game. Freak Master, don't worry
about it. Is it's this game is much more difficult
than a lot of people realize. So we will continue
on here. We go over to Cowboy and Windsor with
a one nothing lead here on pro wrestler or porn

(01:52:56):
Star Cowboy. The next name up for you is Rob
the Eagles pro wrestler, porn star, pro wrestler. That is correct.
Very good, Cowboy, you're on fire Man. I think you're
really good at this game. Yeah. Well, I've been up
Pearl Wrestling. Well, I start of following wrestling when I
was about six or seven because of the little picture.

(01:53:17):
It was a great wrestler for years. He was a
paper boy when I was a little kid. He's eighty now. Nice. Now,
when did you start following porn? I don't really follow porn.
I just look at the sometimes play Brillon. You know.
I get the start of Illustrated Slimsuit issue every year.

(01:53:38):
I'm not really a big porn star, but I can
pretty much, you know, I can pretty much guess him
a porn name unless it's really, you know, out there
and as it's not as obvious as it could be. Well, listen,
you know, I love the honesty, cowboy. I like It's
why you are one of the all time favorites in
Fox Sports Radio. I want a mature guy, don't we all? Andy,

(01:54:01):
there's Andy Ferman again. Just to get this guy just
chimes in what I apologize, Cowboy, Andy Ferman is rude.
He just chimes in whatever he wants. Unbelievable. All right,
we go back over to a freak master in Tennessee.
Freak Master, you are down to nothing here. You need
this to uh to get in the game and get
on the board. And the name for you is in
a pro wrestler or porn star in A. That's okay,

(01:54:34):
all right, okay, all right, okay, one name that's correct.
See how this is what freak master. It's it's it's
one or the other. It's like flipping a coin. Yeah,
that is correct. In A is a porn star thanking
each other. I mean, if you think about the name,
it kind of makes sense. But you know it's when
you say it out loud, it's, you know, not the
best in the world. All right, we go back over

(01:54:55):
to Cowboy and wins Her. This is pro wrestler or
porn star here on Fox on Radio cow how Boy,
next name up for you is Alex Nova, pro wrestler
or porn star. That is incorrect this time. Now alex
Nova is a porn star. So we go back over

(01:55:15):
to freak Master and tennessee, freak Master, you can tie
things up if you get this correct. Now, freak Master,
the name I just gave Cowboy and Windsor was alex Nova.
The name I've got for you is super Nova, pro
wrestler or porn star. That is correct, And we're all
tied up here. That's how we see freak Master. That's
how it works. Man, Just stay composed, stay in the game,

(01:55:36):
and we're back at it. We're all tied up, so
we go back over to Cowboy and windsor here on
Pro Wrestler or porn Star and Cowboy, the next name
up for you is Concrete Dongs. That is incorrect. Believe

(01:55:57):
it or not, Concrete Dongs is a pro wrestler. I've
been praying for ten inches all my life. Oh boy,
oh man, Uh, it's just you can't. You can't make
this stuff up. Somebody trying to pile drive or water
moccasin that listen. I don't even know what that's suppose

(01:56:21):
to me, and I was taken out of context. All right,
we go back over to Freak Master in Tennessee. Here,
freak Master, you are next up with an opportunity to
take the lead, and the name for you is Cyprus Isles,
pro Wrestler, porn Star. That is correct. Freak Baster, you

(01:56:43):
were on fire and you have stormed back to take
a lead here on Pro Wrestler a porn Star. So Cowboy,
here's the situation. You need to get this correct to
stay alive in the game. If you miss it, it's
over and Freak Master wins. So no, pressure, Cowboy. But
the name for you here on Pro wrest Or a
porn star is Marty Skirl, pro wrestler porn star. Oh,

(01:57:10):
that is correct. Cowboy on fire here getting three so
far on pro Wrestler a porn star struggling a little
bit in the middle, but but absolutely on fire in
that moment, and he has tied the game, which brings
us to a pivotal moment in the game. Here for
freak Master in Tennessee. Freak Master. If you get this
next one correct, you win the game. If you miss it,

(01:57:33):
we go to a tiebreaker question and I will explain
the rules there. So all the pressure is on you
to try and win the game here and avoid overtime.
Freak Master in Tennessee. Are you ready? Let's go do it?
Are you sure? Yeah? It's man, it's all good, it's

(01:58:01):
all We're good. All right, So freak Master here, he
doesn't matter. Here we go, here's the question, and I
will give you the name. Is this a pro wrestler
porn star freak Master in Tennessee to win the game?
Nidia GOODNRD. Is that a pro wrestler or a porn star?

(01:58:25):
The porn star that is incorrect is wrestler. And of
course we are going to a tiebreaker sudden death overtime
question here on FSR. So here's how it works, guys.
I've got a name here. I am going to say
the name on the air. If you want an opportunity
to guess, you must buzz in with your name. So

(01:58:46):
your name is your buzzer, and whoever gets in first,
we'll have an opportunity to guess whether this is a
pro wrestler or porn star. So don't shout out pro wrestler,
don't shout out porn star. Buzzing with your name and
we will give that per and the opportunity to win
the game. So here's that works, guys, and we will
give the name here on the air the tiebreaker question

(01:59:07):
to win it all on Pro Wrestler porn Star is
Mila Blaze freak Master in Tennessee. Is in first, freak
Master Mila Blaze? Is that a pro wrestler or porn star?
That is incorrect? That is a porn star? And with that,

(01:59:30):
Cowboy in Windsor, Ontario winner. Congratulations, cowboy, you have just
won a pro wrestler porn Star. Oh thank you, Jonas
and just you know, fifty days after my stroke, and
congratulations Freak Master. Yeah, absolutely, and Cowboy, We're happy you're

(01:59:50):
feeling better and that congratulations to l A Pro Wrestler
Porn Star Champ. Thank you, Thank you, Cowboy. Absolutely, Lady
I said hi, I will I will definitely tell Brady
you said hi. Alright, so we're up against We've gotta
get to break and then we're gonna get Kevin Figures
thoughts on several things that happened there that that have
my mind racing, all right, Jonas knocks Fox Sports Radio. Uh,

(02:00:11):
several thoughts on what the hell just happened? Next year
on fs ARE. Jonas knocks Fox Sports Radio coming up
ten minutes from now here on fs ARE, Uh, somebody
in the world of sports a football coach. Sounds completely ridiculous.
We will get to that here ten minutes from now
on fs ARE, UM, do you want to welcome in

(02:00:34):
Kevin Figures. He's our national Update anchor here at Fox
Sports Radio, the voice of l A Sports Radio. Kevin
had to get your thoughts on just a very very
bizarre edition of Pro Wrestler Porn Star. You know, like,
because you know most of them are normal and I
mean when when Cowboy and Woods was involved, it's it's
not going to be normal. I mean, listen, he's he's
a celebrity. Love him, good dude, Yeah, absolutely love him. Um.

(02:00:55):
Your thoughts on the name Concrete Dongs uh as ares
where that ranks? Right? That's pretty high up there, and
um doesn't leave much to the imagination. And the fact
the fact that that's not a point like that this
makes the game that difficult, the fact that that's a
pro wrestling and I think it's a tag team if

(02:01:16):
I'm not mistaken perfect. Yeah, it's so they're called the
Concrete Dawn. I don't think I want to know what
they're finishing maneuver is I don't either. Yeah, that's that nothing,
nothing I'm interested in whatsoever. But but no, that was
a a very wild edition of a pro wrestler porn.
So I'm not quite sure what freak Master in Tennessee
was doing. It sounds like he was busy doing something else. Um.

(02:01:39):
Cowboy admitting he doesn't really know porn, but he you know,
does have playboys and you know has looked at that
stuff was very has the old shoe box under the
bed working or what you know, I mean listen, like,
you know, under the mattress maybe, I mean, you know,
like there's there's a lot of ways to go back
doing that. I was also intrigued by the name, you know,
by the way you know I wipe this one off

(02:01:59):
our brow, that it was an enema, because that would
have been yeah, very good. Yeah. If that was the case,
I don't think we'd be talking right now. Something tells
me they would have putt put an end to this
show in a hurry. All right, We've got more out

up until six am Eastern time, three o'clock Pacific, right

(02:03:05):
here on fs R. So, the l A Clippers force
a Game seven, they go into Dallas, and they win
on Friday night, and Kawhi Leonard was the story. Absolutely fantastic.
He was awesome. He was everything you expect from a
star player. One of his great performances that we've seen
in the postseason. And this is a guy who's a

(02:03:26):
first ballot Hall of Famer. He's had some epic playoff
performances before, and this one is going to be talked
about when his career is done and when they put
up the graphics some of the most notable playoff performances,
they're gonna point to what he did Game six against
the Dallas Mavericks on the road as being one of
those great performances. And the only problem is if they

(02:03:49):
go out and do what they've done already in the postseason,
which is lose every single game they've had at home,
it's not gonna matter historically, after his career is all
said and done, Islander's gonna be looked at and people
are gonna talk about it, and they're gonna have a
fun time and say, man, that was awesome, and I
remember that game, I remember where I was. But they're
also gonna go back to the fact that, yeah, but

(02:04:10):
they got to Game seven, they were at home, and
they lost, and that, unfortunately, is where the Clippers find themselves.
Like all of this stuff is cute, all of these
these different wins and and all this stuff, all of
it is awesome and and good for the l A Clippers.
But if they don't go out and they don't perform
in Game seven and they don't win a game at

(02:04:31):
home that they should win, they're the higher seed. They
wanted Dallas. They you know, a lot of people think
strategically picked Dallas to play in the first round of
the postseason. You got a home game, you got a
Game seven. You gotta win this because I think there's
a lot of changes that could take place. You already
made a bunch in the off season. You got rid

(02:04:52):
of your head coach. You you figured you had identified
what the problem was, and yet here you are again
on the ropes, and if they lose to the Dallas team,
nobody's gonna give a rip about what Kawhi Leonard did
in the moment right now, They're not gonna care what
he did in Game six. There's gonna be major changes again.
They're gonna be moving stuff around. They might Kawhi Leonard

(02:05:12):
might be gone, who knows, Paul George. They might tear
the whole thing down and start over again. So this
is a massive opportunity, especially in a year, in a
playoff year where the Lakers were disappointing at home, and
the idea that you could have in the matter of
three four days, both l A teams eliminated on their
own floor in the first round of the postseason. Nobody

(02:05:35):
would have seen that happening. So if you're the Clippers,
you have a real opportunity here to to to change
a lot of the narratives about you. But unfortunately they've
had opportunities, not only this year, but they had him
last year and they couldn't get it done. So great story,
unbelievable performance, Kawhi Leonard was awesome, But if he does

(02:05:55):
not get it done on Sunday in a Game seven,
I mean the amount of critic sissum and heat they're
gonna take for the next several days is is minuscule
compared to just what's going to happen to the franchise
moving forward if they can't figure this thing out. Jonas
knocks Fox Sports Radio. Here's something else I was thinking
about when it came to the bubble. I don't all right,

(02:06:18):
I don't have any evidence of this, So this is
simply spitballing here. This is just having a conversation on
Fox Sports Radio. I don't know if any of this
means anything. I don't know if any of this, if
there's anything to you know, any of this thought or
where I'm going with this discussion. But I'll just say this,

(02:06:40):
when Lebron James is talking about fatigue, when you see
um Anthony Davis mentioned fatigue, there's a lot of people
who want to dismiss that. There's a lot of people
who want to dismiss it and say, well, those are
just excuses, and look, I get it, and it's fun
to dismiss it. I love, love, love love needling Laker fans.

(02:07:02):
I love it. I really do. I think it's I
think it's it's one of my favorite things to do.
A lot of people ask me, so, what are your hobbies.
What do you like to do well. I like to
do radio. I like to hang out with my friends
and family. I like spicy food. I like to work out.
I like trying new I p A s. And even
maybe more so than all of that, I like to
take out a Philip's head screwdriver and dig it into

(02:07:24):
the ribs of Laker fans every time they defecate all
over themselves in the postseason. I'm sorry, man, Call me
sick and twisted, call me cruel. It's fun to do.
When you have a fan base that walks around with
that level of arrogance, when they get slapped around, it's
fun to do. I get a kick out of it.
But if we're gonna be honest here, and if we're

(02:07:46):
gonna be fair, I do think the lack of an
off season is a legitimate thing that happened this year
in the NBA. I would like nothing more than to
come out and say, oh, that's all excuses and you
weren't good enough and Lebron's fit. No, no, no, no,
it's real, because think about it like this, the final

(02:08:10):
four teams in the Bubble last year, three of them
were eliminated in the first round the following year. That's
not just coincidental. I'm sorry, it's just it's not coincidental.
And in fact, not only were they eliminated. Between the
three of them, they only won three games. The Celtics

(02:08:33):
got one against Brooklyn, the Lakers got two against Phoenix,
and Miami got zip against Milwaukee. So you had both
teams in the finals that were eliminated in the first round.
Three of the first four of the Final four last year,
we're eliminated in the first round. There's something to it.
Here's the other aspect of it, the team remaining. Again,

(02:08:57):
I have no evidence of this. I don't know if
this has anything to do with it, but I'm just
throwing it out there. Maybe I'm onto something. Maybe this
is just crazy talk. Denver is the one team from
the Final four year ago that is still playing. They
eliminate Portlands, they take care of him in six games.
The easy thing to do is go man, that's impressive.

(02:09:19):
Good for Denver, even after losing Jamal Murray. Look what
they were able to do. Okay, But furthermore, the fact
that Denver, of the four teams that were in the
final four last year in the bubble is the team
still remaining doesn't have anything to do with the fact
that maybe they're in better shape than those teams because
they play at altitude and none of those other teams do.

(02:09:43):
It could be I could be way off base, I
could be crazy, but the fact that Denver is still
here does say something. And they're shorthanded. The fact that
after playing the double overtime game that they played, that
they can come back and win the very next game.
Maybe Denver is just in better shape, like playing an altitude,

(02:10:07):
Like why do fighters go to training camp and train
at altitude? I remember after a game a couple of
years ago, UM doing a show on Sundays with Brady
Quinn here at Fox Sports Radio, and we interviewed UM
Chris Harris, who was a member of the Denver Broncos,
and it was early in the season. I think it
was Week two of the NFL season. They had just

(02:10:29):
beaten the Dallas Cowboys and they had really just beaten
the hell out of Dallas, and Chris Harris came on
the air with us afterwards. We had we had somebody
there at the stadium, Chris Harris hopped on the phone
and I asked him. I said, Hey, the Denver Broncos
always have a great record at home early in the season.

(02:10:49):
Do you guys know that when teams get there early
in the season, they're not in shape and you know
you can take advantage of it. He goes, oh, hundred percent.
We talk about it. Yeah, we talked about it. Our
gas to be is better than their's, especially early in
the season when teams are still trying to get into
NFL game shape when they come here, Like you can
go back historically, look at Denver's record at home in

(02:11:12):
the NFL early in the season. They're one of the
best ever. It's because they're at altitude and they're in
better shape than most every team that comes into their backyard.
It's a real thing. And so I I wonder if
part of what is given Denver the ability to be

(02:11:33):
one of the final four teams from a year ago
in the bubble and still be playing even after losing
one of their best players. I wonder if it's because
they're in better shape. They play it altitude there, their
their lungs are stronger, they're used to you know, you know,

(02:11:54):
playing there and then having to go on the road
and play it back to like they're just used to it.
I wonder if that has something to do with it
when it comes to just the bubble teams that were
remaining the final four from a year ago. Because look, Miami,
you know, had had their issues with injuries this year,
but Miami was a shell of what they were last year.
They weren't even close that that series against Milwaukee, that

(02:12:17):
was a destruction that wasn't after the first game, Milwaukee
annihilated them, Like that's like a reevaluation of your franchise
and your roster based on what Milwaukee did to him.
It wasn't close. The Celtics, they weren't close to Brooklyn.
They were somewhat competitive in the first game. They got

(02:12:37):
a game I think in game three. Uh, they were
a little bit competitive in the final game, but they
weren't close. And you can go, well, you know they
lost Jalen Brown to injury and all that stuff, but yeah,
but they weren't really the same team all year long.
And the Lakers that dealt with injuries obviously Anthony Davis
Lebron was banged up and all of that, but it's

(02:12:58):
Denver lost Jamal Murray. That's a massive injury for them.
That's massive. Yes, they've got the m v P of
the league, but but Jamal Murray was unbelievable in the
Bubble last year and they lost him. And so to
see them not only be the only team of the
final four from the Bubble get to the next round
of the playoffs, but to do so after playing a

(02:13:19):
double overtime game against an all time performance and performer
in Dame Lillard, and all of this without one of
their best players and one of their best scorers, if
not their best score on the roster. I just wonder
if it comes down simply too. They're in better shape
than those teams, so the quick turnaround and all that stuff,

(02:13:42):
they weren't damaged as much because they play at that altitude,
which is given all Denver teams in advantage here at
the course of history. Jonas Knox Fox Sport Radio, get

somebody in the NFL. Plus you talk about a coach
crying complaining, We've got all of that at yours next

(02:14:23):
year on fs are they were held sackless? That sounded
really inappropriate. We will have the scraps things in the
world of sports. We have not had a chance to
get to there yours ten minutes from now here on
Fox Sports Radio. UM, so it was interesting and I
do well before we get to this, I do need

(02:14:44):
to event a little bit about something I talked about
this earlier in the show. But David Shaw, the Stanford
head coach, he's the latest to come out and be
critical of Fox exercising their broadcast rights. So for those
of you that that aren't familiar with this story, UM,
Oklahoma's athletic director came out in the past week or

(02:15:07):
so and he was upset that their game against Nebraska,
which is like a fiftieth anniversary big to do uh
in Norman, Oklahoma, that Fox is has exercised its broadcast
rights to show that game during the day and the
time slot that they had that game scheduled in Oklahoma

(02:15:28):
is not happy about it. They wanted a prime time spot,
so on and so forth, and and Fox is like, look,
we we pay a lot of money for the rights
to show these games. We exercised all right to put
this game to where we can put it, and we
feel like we're gonna draw more eyeballs in this time
slot than in competition with in another time slot. And
so you know, Okloma's athletic director was upset about it. Well, now,

(02:15:51):
Stanford's head coach David Shaw was talking with the athletic
and he ripped Fox because their season opener is gonna
be at eleven am Central Time in Arlington against Kansas State.
And David Shaw's upset, I mean, and he unloaded. Some
of the quotes were over the top. He called it agregious. Uh,

(02:16:13):
I don't give a bleep, but I don't care who
I pissed off. I think it's unfair. Why should we
because Stanford's a West Coast team and he doesn't like
the idea of them having to have a kickoff at
nine am Local time in California. Well, dude, you're not
in California, And I get it. What's your about your
body clock? Figure it out. You've got enough time to

(02:16:34):
figure this thing out and get your body clock right
for week one. It's not like this is in the middle.
It's not like this is a Thursday game in week five.
This is week one. You've got months to get your
guys acclimated to it. So my old thought on it is,
first off, this is what comes with doing a giant

(02:16:54):
deal in which, look, his salary is a nice salary.
Part of that salary is because of all the money
that's being that's brought in and the revenue that is
brought in from these TV deals. So the idea he's
gonna be disgusted by it and lay into Fox because
of this. So so there's that. The other part of
this is like, why would you give your team a

(02:17:16):
built in excuse? Why why would you already going into
week one give your guys an excuse of well, if
you're not ready to play, don't worry about it, because
it's what Fox did to us. So I think it's
a terrible look for David Shahn. And and if you
just talk like time zones matter, I'm not saying that

(02:17:38):
they don't, all right, it is it is a real thing.
Time zones matter. Um. I can remember being in Hawaii
with my wife then girlfriend at the time. First off,
we ever went to Hawaii and I woke up on
Saturday and started watching college football and she said, what

(02:17:58):
are you doing. We're on vacation, and I said, I
just gotta see this. She goes, what do you need
to see? It's a football game, like I know, but
I've never seen a college football game is six in
the morning. I just wanted to see what it was
like because it was six o'clock in Hawaii and it
was an Ohio I think it was Ohio State Oregon
State if I'm not mistaken. I just so like it

(02:18:19):
was weird, and I could imagine if if that was
a Hawaii team who was playing at that time. You
know it's six like so I get body clock, time zone,
all of that stuff matters. But it's why you give
yourself enough time to get acclimated to it. Fighters do
this all the time. If you have a fighter who
fights overseas, like when the UFC has these fight islands,

(02:18:41):
or they go to Abu Dhabi, or they they fight
in other parts of the world. Part of it is
they get out there ahead of time, and they get
their bodies used to when they're fighting. Because when they're
fighting in Australia, yes we're watching it at ten pm
Eastern time or seven o'clock Pacific tie about here in
the States. In Australia, it's like noon on a Sunday

(02:19:04):
or whatever time it is. So yeah, it's like it's weird.
And but they don't make excuses. They realize that's part
of our preparation for this. It's baked into our preparation.
You gotta get your body right, you gotta get your
mind right, and you gotta get your sleep right. David

(02:19:24):
Shaw is bitching and moaning because you're having to adjust
a couple of hours. Try fighting overseas when those guys
are are twenty hours off their normal body clocks and
fighting at one pm in the afternoon on a Sunday. Like,
I just it, it doesn't hold water for me. I
think it's a bad look. I think I think David

(02:19:44):
Shaw looks bad when it comes to all this. Jonas
knocks Fox Sports Radio. Um, here's another interesting thing I
out of the NFL, so the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have
done something a little bit different in which in a
time where you got these quarterbacks who aren't happy about
not having enough say or power within what their team does.

(02:20:06):
The Bucks have really given Tom Brady an opportunity, and
so Albert brier Um of mm QB dot Com Rights
for Sports illustrated We were talking with him on Friday
earlier when I was filling in on Oul kicked the
coverage with Jeff Schwartz, and he was explaining and breaking
down how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have approached this offseason

(02:20:27):
when it comes to Tom Brady, and I thought it
was interesting. Take a listen. I know how tightly wound
his schedule is and how much he values now as
time with his family, and so the fact that he
do that, I think is really interesting. You know, I've
always felt like his post career was going to be
like he's going to you know, obviously he's got his
TV twelve, like the health and wellness thing um, and

(02:20:49):
I've always thought like that he was going to find
a way to get back to football. Whether or not
it will be working for a team, I don't know.
I've always felt like there would be some way that
he would give me try to get back to football,
and so I think, you know, it's possible maybe he's
just kicking the tires on it and they you know,
Bruce asked him and said, okay, like you know, why

(02:21:09):
don't you look at these guys for us? And you know,
maybe it's just you know, it's it's a chance for
Brady to get a dry run, like if I wanted
to be John Elway ten years from now, like what
John Elways been in Denver, you know, and here's my
chance to kind of take a look at what that
would look at look like. So it makes some sense
to me. I mean, I think it helps for you know,
Bruce to maybe get another set of eyes on receivers. Obviously,

(02:21:29):
you know, Brady knows what he likes, you know, having
done it for for twenty two years now. Um. And
I think it's really interesting how invested the Bucks are
overall and Brady, because I think if you look at it,
you can see different fests, so they're off season that
have really been kind of Brady centric. And I think
one thing that everybody's missing that is so interesting is

(02:21:49):
the way the off season programs set up. Um. And
they have like intentionally done this where Bruce basically said,
and you have all the in fighting between you know,
the the players in the league and the union in
the league and the players and the team over what
O t AS looked like. Well, Bruce actually thought I
thought BA did something that was really intelligent where he
basically said, all right, Tom, you got the older guys.

(02:22:13):
You guys can go get your work in. If you
guys want to use the facility to get that work in,
you guys can go and do that. You guys will
get all of your work done. Tom knows what you
guys want. And he basically turned O t a s
what the Buck Scott for O t a S into
a developmental camp. And so on one side, you've got
Brady basically leading the older group and getting the older

(02:22:33):
group ready for training camp, getting those guys what they need.
And then on the other side, you're building depth into
your roster with b A and his coaching staff running
a developmental camps. So think about that in a time
when you've got Aaron Rodgers complaining because he doesn't have
as much say or influence in his organization. You got
Russell Wilson storming out of a meeting room because he

(02:22:55):
feels like he wants to be more involved in play
calling decisions. You've got to Shawn Watson complaining because they're
getting rid of players that he wanted on his roster,
and he's unhappy about it. You've got all these quarterbacks
who are upset about what is happening within their organizations,
and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not only giving Tom

(02:23:15):
Brady a say, but they're letting him scout wide receivers
in the draft and run O t a s I.
I wonder if part of this not that they're throwing shade,
not that they're you know, sort of flexing and saying, well,
here we do it. I wonder if part of this
might be a little bit of a recruiting pitch. I
wonder if they look at this and go, you know,

(02:23:39):
while you may not like it, elsewhere where you feel
like you don't have power and you don't have a say,
and you don't have any control over over anything. I
wonder if they're planting seeds for the eventual replacement for
Tom Brady or the eventual replacement for anybody on the
team to where they look at it and go, hey,

(02:24:00):
we know that this is a player empowerment era, and
elsewhere you're not going to have the ability to do it.
So not only are we secure as head coaches or
as a coaching staff or an organization in a front
office that we're not going to get intimidated if if
our players have a say, but we're going to welcome it.
And in fact, we're gonna tell our quarterback here's some

(02:24:21):
wide receivers in the draft, scout them to tell us
what you like. And furthermore, go ahead, and you got
O T S. You you handle O T A s
and you let us know what you think is the
best thing for us to do when it comes to
that portion of our off season. I think it's I
think it's really interesting, and I just wonder how much
of it is a recruiting pitch for other players around

(02:24:43):
the league who are like, man, we want to go somewhere.
We have some power and some say And the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers are throwing their hands up saying, hey, we're
the defending champs and we're not insecure enough to be
able to let our players have say in power and stuff.
Just look what we're doing with our quarterback this offseason.
Jonas knocks Fox Sports RADI oh get me on Twitter

(02:25:04):
Coming up next, it is the scraps things in the
world of sports. We have not had a chance to
get to the air yours, but for all the latest
it's Kevin Figgers all right in Kiltard played like the
two time Finals m VP that he is. On Friday nineties,
scored a playoff career high tie a playoff career high
with forty five points. He made seventy two percent of
his field goal attempts as he led the Clippers to
a Game six victory in Dallas by the score of

(02:25:26):
one oh four to ninety seven. Game seven will take
place in Los Angeles on Sunday. Second round of the
Stanley Cup playoffs, Las Vegas scored two goals in the
third period as they defeated Colorado three to two. The
Avalanche still lead that series three games to one. Montreal
with a two nothing series lead over Winnipeg after a
one nothing victory in their game on Friday Nights on

(02:25:46):
the Diamond, the Giants roughed up Jake Arietta and the
Cups for an eight to five victory. Blake's now allowed
one hit and struck out ten and seven innings of
work as the Padres defeated the Mets, White Sox walked
off the Tigers Brewers handed Arizona their fifth consecutive Rote
Laws wins. For the Angels, Dodgers, A's and the Astros
who are at the Blue Jays, you have the golf

(02:26:07):
in Golf, I should say the second On Action Memorial
Championship play with suspended due to a weather on Friday.
Pantry Catley the leader in the clubhouse at eight under,
though he has tied with John rom was also at
eight under. However he only completed thirteen holes. Play will
resume later today. Back to Jonas Knox. Thanks Cap Jonas
Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up fifteen minutes

(02:26:28):
from now here on fs ARE we will have another
edition of Ticket or Stick It Here on Fox Sports Radio.
Sports are coming back. People are back in arenas. We're
gonna find out the price of admission and whether or
not I am a giant cheapass when it comes to
going to games. That is yours. Coming up fifteen minutes
from now on Fox Sports Radio. Right now, though, it

(02:26:48):
is time for something we do on the show called
this Jonas, how could you not get to these stories
are the scraps, and for that we turn it over
to the great Kevin Figures to find out what the
hell we've missed so far in the show keV. So
earlier this week we found out that Masachevski was retiring
or is going to retire at the end of this

(02:27:09):
following season at Duke. He's been there for forty one
seasons and they are promoting his assistant coach, John Shire,
who it seems like he was just playing for Duke
three years ago. It was actually ten years ago. It
was a part of that Duke National championship team that
beat Butler back in ten and people have been questioning
whether or not Shire is actually ready for a job

(02:27:29):
of this magnitude, and Shira addressed at himself in a
recent interview, saying, quote, I've been told many times in
the last forty eight hours, you're not supposed to be
the guy that follows the guy. You're supposed to be
the guy that follows the guy that follows the guy.
With that said, I'm not afraid of it. This is
an incredibly unique situation. Coach mentioned that to me yesterday.
This is one of in terms of succession that I
think is going to really work. I am built for

(02:27:51):
this success. He's only thirty three years old. And maybe
for some who are supporters of the move Jonas, they
can say he's a young guy, can really you know,
connect with the younger players who were coming out of
high school and others who can say, well, maybe you
need a veteran coach who actually knows what he's doing.
I don't know exactly what size you fall on, but
it's definitely a polarizing hire for some that John Shire
is going to succeed coach k after the end of

(02:28:13):
this coming season. Well, what was interesting is that on
the same day that coach k announced his retirement earlier,
you know, Brad Stevens stepped down his head coach to
take a front office role with the Celtics. And what's
ironic about that are funny is that Brad Stevens was
rumored as being the heir apparent to Mike Schevski. That
when that job opened up, there was a lot of

(02:28:33):
people who thought, if they were going to go outside
their own coaching tree, Brad Stevens would be the eventual
replacement for coach Kum to be able to carry on
the legacy there and to see that it's John Shire,
I was like, wait, is that the same guy who
just won a national title, like not that long ago?
Like what was it two thou I think yeah, so
so yeah, he won won the national title in two

(02:28:55):
thousand ten, and and that was the game that was
against Butler. Correct, Yeah, that was the Gordon Hayward full
court heave that almost went in. Wow. So it all
ties together. I think part part of it. He's young,
and there's been guys that have been on the staff
or that that have been longtime Duke assistants, like whether
it's Jeff Capel or Tommy Amaker, some of these other

(02:29:18):
guys that have been that have been rumored to be
the eventual replacement when coach k walks away, Steve Wajahowski, um,
Chris Collins. I think his ability to land some of
the recruits that he got over the past several years,
some of these one and done five star guys, I
think that's part of what went into to the decision,
because I think it was guys like Tatum and some others.

(02:29:41):
Zion Williamson I think was another one that John Shire
was a major reason why those guys shows to go
to Duke, and I think it was his recruiting ability
that ultimately ended up getting him the gig. Yeah, people
who want to criticize the move, you never know until
he actually gets himself an opportunity. I mean, who was
Lincoln Riley four years You know, Bob stoop stepped down.

(02:30:01):
He was a young guy who had only been the
office of coordinator and quarterback coach at Oklahoma for maybe
two seasons I believe, before being elevated. It's one of
the more sought after jobs in college football, and he's
taking the ball and run with it and turned himself
into one or more sought after coaches in NFL and
college football circles. So you have to have levy level,
heavy heavy criticism for the higher at this point in time,

(02:30:22):
maybe let it play itself out. And I think it
helps the fact that coach k is actually staying for
an additional year, so for the next recruiting cycle, you
know that the head coach and waiting is actually they're
waiting for you. And look at Ryan Day, he took
over for urban Meyer. I think urban Meyer in his
entire time at Ohio State, I think lost nine games.

(02:30:43):
Like I think it's eight or nine games. He lost
his entire time at Ohio State. Those are big shoes
to fill if you're Ryan Day, and he's done an
amazing job filling those shoes and stepping in for that opportunity.
So yeah, you gotta you gotta let this thing play out.
You gotta give him an opportunity. He's going to go
through growing pains. But to your point, it's not like

(02:31:03):
he just walked away and then all of a sudden
he's got He's got a year, like a year to
learn step by step. This is how this process works.
This is what you go through. This is I remember, um,
it was Josh McDaniels who when Josh McDaniels lost the
opportunity or lost his head coaching job, I think he

(02:31:24):
spent a year being able to I think it was
Josh McDaniels, But there was a coach recently who spent
a year sort of reappreciating the how to sort of
the the coaching aspect of things. You know, what would
you do different if you got an opportunity? What would
you you know, how much different would you what would
your approach be like if if you ended up getting

(02:31:45):
an opportunity elsewhere again, and and it benefited him because
he looked at things completely different. He was humbled, he
was he just got an opportunity to go through and
sort of reevaluate all of that. Well, John Shire is
going to be able to do all that with Coach
K still there. So he's gonna be able to study,
you know, almost like an apprenticeship program. This is how

(02:32:07):
I approached this, This is my idea behind this, this
is this is this is what I'm doing. Belichick talked
about it when he was with the Giants Parcels when
when he knew Belichick was ready to make the jump
to become a head coach on his own for an
entire season, he brought him in and walked him through
his why why I chose to talk to this player

(02:32:28):
this way? Why are we practicing this way this day
in a different way the other day? Like just the
entire process. He got a he got hands on experience
with and I think it's gonna benefit Johnshire tremendously. And
it's invaluable when that mentorship is coming from one of
the great coaches and sports history, let alone college basketball history.
Uh In Coach K speaking of a coaching situations, UH

(02:32:49):
Terry Stotts, but at the Helm of Portland for the
last nine years, they've been a good team, never a
great team. Damian Lillard obviously has been amazing in Portland,
has been one of the most snake bitten franchises that
I can never remember when it comes to top picks.
But they mutually decided to part ways, and according to
a sham Tranny of the Athletic Jason Kidd, who was
at some prior head coaching experience at the NBA and

(02:33:10):
with the Nets in Milwaukee, and Chauncey Billups, who was
an assistant with the Clippers this year, are said to
be the two front runners for the Portland's job. I
am really curious to see what they do, not not
from a coaching standpoint, but just with that roster, because look,
you've got a flat out superstar in Dave Lillard, and
he's been over the top loyal and supportive of the organization.

(02:33:34):
Doesn't want to do the super team route, but he
feels like he's now frustrated, Like they get to this
certain point. He puts on these unbelievable performances and it's
just not good enough, Like it just there's not enough
there for them to get over the hump in a
really competitive Western conference, And I just I wonder if

(02:33:56):
what their approach is this offseason, like, is this clearly
you know they don't want to lose Dame lit Alert,
but you know, you've got McCollum, you've got some other players.
Carmelo has actually been a pretty good addition there. But
it's just there's just something missing there to where they
get to this point and they just can't capitalize. And
I'm fascinated to see what they do as far as
bringing another talent or do they just tear this thing

(02:34:18):
down to start over. Yeah, I mean, they can't have
been really bad defensively over the last few years, and
I think they actually got worse defensively this year than
they were last year and the then Terry Stott's even said,
you know, in his talking points before the year started,
that was an emphasis for them, and they weren't able
to fix it. And it's very difficult unless you're a
dominant defensive team to be very backcourt heavy with Damon

(02:34:38):
in c J and I felt too many times they
were just going back and forth, you score, I score,
you go, I go, without just a lot of depth
and a lot of versatility on the roster as a
whole um, So maybe they try to find a way
to shake things up there there. It's fun to watch
just title exactly. I mean, like I I can watch
Dame Lillers go to Devil overtime, A gets Denver all

(02:34:58):
day long and just know that, Oh, I mean, they're
never gonna win a championship, but for entertainment purposes, it's awesome. Yeah,
they don't have the horses in the front court to
stick up with the nerk. A few people do when
it comes to dealing with the Yokich and people like that.
But when you're two best players are backgore players, and
specifically CEJ McCollum was an excellent score but has been
injury prone recently, not a good defensive player, you think

(02:35:19):
maybe they want to maybe try to ship him off
and get some better get some better continuity when it
comes into their front court, and fill out the roster
a little bit more, and maybe you go with, we
have one star player and just surround him with really
really good players who can play defense and make open
shots and see if that works for you. Because the
last few years things haven't really worked in their favorite. Yeah,
I uh, I don't. I don't know what the answer is,

(02:35:41):
because like, who's who can they make a move for
that you would go, okay, now we're taught like Bradley Beale,
Now that's the same issue. I mean, badly Bills a shooter.
Yeah he's better than McCollum. But it's to say, look,
they traded for Norman Powell. That wasn't gonna help him.
He's another guard that that scores a lot. That's not
that's not an another aspect that you need to add

(02:36:01):
to your team. Yeah, I just I don't know. I
don't know what. I don't know what what they can
do that's gonna that's gonna be a difference maker in
that conference. You know, Lebron is gonna gonna come back
and and and try and make a move. So like,
I just I don't know what they can possibly do
that that you would just look at and go, oh, well, yeah,
this is gonna be the the tipping point. They're gonna

(02:36:23):
be able to make a run now because they've added
you know, insert whatever player here. I just don't know
who's out there that's gonna make the difference, no doubt.
Now it's uh it's hunting season there, Jonas, And I'm
not talking about deer. Part of these pythons head on
down to Florida, the Governor, Rond de Santist announced earlier
this week. The annual contest is on July nine to
the eighteenth. You can win a prize, whether you are

(02:36:45):
a pro or a novice, prize, if you catch the
most pythons in fift hundred, if you catch the longest.
Of course, you know, pythons have been an issue down
in the Everglades for a long period of time and
it's permeated into Florida pretty badly. Uh So they've on
all these different measures over the last few years to
try to entice people to try to find ways to
get the pythons out. So are you going out and

(02:37:07):
go on python hunting this summer there, Jonas? And no,
I'm not interested. But if you ever held a Burmese python,
I have no desire to touch a snake. All right,
Um you guys got that faith that if you guys
could get that, that would we could keep that on
file for keV moving forward. Um So, I so my

(02:37:27):
brother used to have snakes, and so he always had
he had an uh an albino python. I think they
called it or um. He had a Burmese python. So
I've actually held him like we used when I was
a kid. They were always all over the place, Let
them crawl all over us. They'd wrap around your neck
and go all out like never an issue living on

(02:37:49):
the edge. There aren't. We yeah, it was it, but
it was. They were just so cool like there was
there was never an issue. And then you see him
when they when they had a taste of blood or
there was a mouse that was bought like a feeder
mouse that can go to the pet store to buy them,
and it is it's a it's just a you. You

(02:38:10):
look at them and it's just a different, different thing altogether.
Like when when they when they identify you as food
and not something to climb on. It's like a flip
of a switch. That is that is really really something.
But I will say this, I would rather deal with
a constricting snake than a poisonous sneak any day of

(02:38:31):
the week. Because a constricting snake, I feel like, at
least it's gonna buy me some time to be able
to pry them off me. I may not be able
to do it like you know, maybe I could make
you know, on the spur spur of the moment, I
could figure out some jiu jitsu move that I that
I watched on a UFC event to get out of
a stranglehold and and maybe put him in my own stranglehold.
Maybe that would happen. But if you deal with a

(02:38:52):
poisonous snake, one bite and it's like count to thirty
and next thing you know, you turn into a gargoyle,
like it's over, like you know, limb start to fall off.
So I would rather deal with a constricting snake as
opposed to a poisonous one. I think I'd be inclined
to agree with you, But I like to just avoid
them all together if I possibly can. So it's a
it's a happy on whacking day for you Simpson fans

Something big is happening. Are on a grand day? A

have your tickets, it's ticket or stick it. Who sounds hot?
All right? So let's get to it. Nick Battalia, Did
I get it correct? You did, sir? Right? That's I see.
I learned. I don't have to be assaulted during the
breaks less pronounce your last name? All right? So Nick Battalia,

(02:40:42):
he's our executive producer. Nick what do we got and
which what events are we looking at so far? Alright,
so of course we have Game seven Mavericks versus Clippers.
It's at Staples Center here in l A Jonas. How
much you willing to pay to watch the close out
game of the series. I'd buy that for a dollar
like Game seven first round matchup. Yeah, I'll I'll pay. Well,

(02:41:11):
you would not be getting at the Stable Center. Ticket
prices started on got I wonder how much more that
would be for a Laker game. Which is crazy to
think about, but but it's the reality for people that
are unfamiliar, Like there's just a different different vibe between
the two franchise. Alright, and I agree Matthew, and I
appreciate you chiming in. All right, what else we got, Nick?

(02:41:33):
So the Mets are taking on the Padres tonight in
San Diego, and Jacob de Graham is on the bump
for the Mets. How much would you pay it again
to Petco Park? Okay? Um, the Padres are one of
the more exciting teams in baseball. The Mets have a
pretty passionate loyal fan base. I'll give you sixty five
bucks for a ticket and you will be getting in
the Petco Park. Ticket prices start fifty six dollars. Look

(02:41:54):
at that. That's a bargain. Hang out in San Diego,
go to gas Lamp and watch some baseball. That's fun.
What else we got? So have Game five between the
Boston Bruins and the New York Islanders. It's Monday and
it's in Boston. Bruins lead the series to one. How
much would you pay it again to TD Garden? Oh god,
NHL playoff game. I've been to two Stanley Cup Finals games,
UM and Stanley Cup Final games. By the way, I'd

(02:42:17):
give you two hundred bucks. Who you would not be
getting in tickets to start to two dollars. It's worth it, man.
Some of the best sporting events. I saw Penguins Red
Wings back in two thousand nine for the Stanley Cup

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
