Aaron and Jason open the show discussing why LeBron James wasn't at Luka Doncic's extension presser, but other teammates were. They then discuss the MLB Speedway series in Bristol Tennessee and WWE Summer Slam. Aaron and Jason then go into Micah Parsons and whether or not he will eventually sign an extension with the Cowboys. They then go into the NFC West predictions and agree that San Francisco's schedule is so easy that 10.5 wins feels too low for them, Aaron and Jason then reset on why LeBron James was the only notable Laker to not attend Luka's presser. They discuss how LeBron's ego is dictating all of these actions, including the picture he posted training at the Clippers facility. They bring in Producer Brandon Deutsch, who is a resident Lakers fan, to hear his thoughts on whether or not he even wants LeBron James on the Lakers roster anymore. They end the show discussing what an inspiration to sports Deion Sanders is and that he's proving he's focused on coaching, not just getting his sons to the NFL.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome in everybody, Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Saturday Arators,
Jason Martin. We are broadcasting live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios. A lot to talk about a lot of football,
Mica Cowboys. We'll do our NFC west Over under previews

(00:23):
later on in the show. Actually want to leave with
a little basketball. We'll get to that in just one moment.
But Jason Martin, how you doing, buddy?

Speaker 2 (00:29):
What's new?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Nothing new, man, Nothing new, No time for anything new
right now in life. So that's fine. Though. There was
some good stuff on Saturday, some news, some things that
were happening at Summer Slam tonight and tomorrow night. So
just it's just one of those kind of weekends, man,
the last couple before football is fully back, at which

(00:51):
point our lives just completely are taken over.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Well, I'll tell you what you mentioned stuff going on today.
We should mention we'll talk a little bit of the
game at Bristol Motor Speedway MLB here in a few minutes,
even though game has officially been washed out because of weather.
Still think there's some stuff to take away from that.
But I actually we don't do this often in August
because it's football, football, football, But to me, the biggest

(01:18):
story of the day is in the NBA, and it's
not really the story, but the story behind the story.
So the story I'm sure everybody has heard throughout the day,
Desager just told you big news in the NBA. Luka
donc three year, one one hundred and sixty five million
dollars deal, three hundred and sixty three year, one hundred

(01:41):
sixty five million dollar extension with the Los Angeles Lakers.
This was, of course the story since the day he
got traded. Would he sign the extension? We assume he
signs the extension and it comes obviously in a week.
Whereas a lot of positive pr for Luca, you know, Jamart,
I don't know if you still have your subscription of
Men's Health, but Luca was blastered all over that bad boy,

(02:03):
you know, trimmed down, looking good and really just a
lot of excitement about Luca and a lot of excitement
about this extension. They obviously had a press conference today.
Just about every single Los Angeles Lakers showed up, with
the notable exception of really two people, but really one

(02:24):
Lebron James obviously, the one being Bronni. Lebron James nowhere
to be found. So the story of the day is
that Luca signs the extension one certainly, j Mart, if
you have any opinions on that.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
But to me, what stood.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Out about this story was the fact that Marcus Smart,
who just signed with the Lakers within the last few weeks,
DeAndre and who just became a Laker within the last
few weeks, a new Theoo who was just drafted by
the Lakers in late June, all managed to get to
this press conference.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
Lebron James not there.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
What do you make of Not only this it's Jay Mart,
but a busy week for Lebron in the world of
passive aggressiveness, posted some workout pictures in what appeared to
be the Lakers flit or the Clippers facility, excuse me,
and then today skipping the Luka Doncic press conference. You know,
I got a lot of takes, but I want to

(03:19):
hear yours first.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
So there's one person that if he doesn't show up,
he becomes the story one nobody else. Marcus Smart doesn't
show up, nobody's gonna care. DeAndre Aiden doesn't show up,
nobody's gonna care. Nobody's even gonna notice, except for one guy.
And look, I've heard people close to his circle for

(03:40):
years say that Lebron James does nothing accidentally. He does
nothing just condflippantly or hesitantly. There's always a plan, there's
always something behind it. That's why when you see the
Clippers thing on that workout shot, you can kind of
roll your eyes on it, because clearly there was something
there because he would have known they would have seen
it before they posted it. All those kinds of things.

(04:04):
This right here just reeks of I still want to
be the story, but this team is not mine anymore.
And I know that, and so I still want you
to talk about me, which is what we're doing. Because
to your point, and I said this to you earlier
when he signed, I said, I'm not really interested in this,
like not in terms of I mean, I understand it's
a big signing, but there's not really a take there.

(04:25):
It's like, well, yeah, of course the Lakers are gonna
want to sign him, and it's good for Luca that
they've gotten this done. It's still kind of amazing that
he ended up in LA However, that all went down
back in February and whatever. But ultimately the reason why
this becomes a topic is because the guy that just
can't get out of the way. I'm not even saying
out of his own way out of the way, Like

(04:46):
he can't just go away, he can't just be absent.
All you got to do is show up to that
thing and support your team, support the organization, and support
the star. But you can't do that. And I'm sorry,
Like I'm not going to give him the benefit of
the doubt here, Like maybe we find out something, some
reason why he wasn't there.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Both pictures on Instagram.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Yeah, so he wasn't at Yeah, I was gonna say
he wasn't at a funeral, he wasn't at a birth
of christening anything like that. He was golfing today. That
was very evident on his social media feed throughout the day.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Yeah so again, like he didn't even try to hide it.
So I just look at this and I'm just like,
you sent this to me in a text message a
couple of days ago, and I'm just to this point too, man,
dude can't retire soon enough, Like we need to be
able to move on from this. We need to be
able to move on from a guy who can't just

(05:40):
go be a great basketball player. He has to be
front and center all the time, like we give Aaron
Rodgers a ton of crap. Lebron James is still playing
at a higher level obviously than Aaron Rodgers, but we
need to start looking similarly because both of them are
out for themselves. They just out they are, and I
don't know if that was always the case for Lebron James.

(06:02):
I'm not going to try to get into his head
or his heart, but I am going to say that
right now he comes across as incredibly selfish and if
at all possible, all this stuff has been accidental, that
he's also tone deaf, and he needs to fire anybody
that is anywhere near his representation because they're leading him
down the wrong pathway. It's just it's a terrible look,
and it's just kind of like before, like I had

(06:25):
not seen it, and you sent a text to us
earlier today with the shot and it says one person
was missing. I mean before I even got to that
part of the sentence, I already knew it was like,
the only reason you're sending me this is because Lebron's
not there. I knew what the story was before I
even read your comment about it, and before I even
looked at the photo. It's just like, here's a photo
of Lucas signing his deal guests, who's oh, yeah, okay,

(06:47):
I know what we're doing here, And then it becomes
a topic and it's just that, right there is terrible
for the NBA, like what are we doing here? And
what is Lebron James doing here? Do we really want
to go out like this? Do we want to go
out this petty because it seems like we do well.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
And I think there's two things that stand out to me.
Is one, first of all, listen again, the Lebron sicophants
that will defend him at all costs will say, you know,
he has no obligation to be there. Okay, okay, we
get it. But the counter that I would have would
be it's it comes in the week, comes within what
thirty six hours of the pictures of him working out

(07:28):
at the Clippers facility, which is a very desperate cry
for attention from Lebron. We know it is. So it's
one thing if oh he just doesn't show up. But two,
it's this latest thing that makes it so obvious that
he doesn't want to be a Laker anymore. And the
only reason he doesn't want to be a Laker anymore,

(07:49):
is because he is not the center of attention and
he is not getting what he wants all the time.
I thought it was interesting even just reading you know,
some of the stuff from today. You know, the person
who pushed for Marcus Smart, the person who pushed for
DeAndre Ayten, it wasn't Lebron James, it was Luka Doncic.

(08:09):
And so that to me is you know why this
becomes interesting is because it's just so obvious that for
the first time, since he's probably thirteen fourteen years old,
every not only does everything not revolve around him, but
he doesn't get what he wants all the time.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
How many times?

Speaker 1 (08:30):
How many times in the last fifteen I don't know
how long you've been doing the national radio show, j Mark,
but since I started about eight nine years ago, how
many times have we talked about different scenarios where a
trade happens, or a draft pick is traded, or this happens,
all because Lebron wants it, whether it's in Cleveland, whether
it's in Los Angeles, certainly before that, in Miami, certainly

(08:52):
before that. The first time in Cleveland, and for the
first time in his life. He is not that decisions
aren't being made based on him, and I'll wrap on
this and throw it back to you. The thing that
remains frustrating to me is, Listen, he is still a
very good basketball player. He can still help winning teams.

(09:13):
But here is my issue. If you know that the
Lakers are going to make decisions based on Luca, if
you know that your time there is ultimately running up,
and if you believe you have something left in the
tank and the Lakers don't appreciate you, guess.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
What, you didn't have to opt.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
In to this contract. Okay, And I understand fifty three
million dollars is a lot of money, and I'm not
here to say that that you know he should have
turned down fifty three million, and it's said, no, no, no. Listen,
we all, if presented with that situation, probably opt into
the fifty three million. But when you opt into the

(09:57):
fifty three million, you then are not allowed to complain
about decisions that get made because you are opting into
a situation where you know exactly what's at stake, exactly
what's possible, exactly what's not And if you either didn't
like the direction of the franchise, don't like the acquisitions
that are being made, don't like the front office, whatever

(10:19):
it is that you're upset about. You didn't have to
be part of this, but once you chose to be
part of it. I don't want to see the whining
and I don't want to see the passive aggressiveness because
it's exhausting and it could have been avoided if you
really didn't want to be there.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
It's all spie, it's all built on spiite. It's all
very childish and immature at this point for somebody who
has done a lot of great things in the league
and at times has been a great leader, obviously at
stages throughout his career, that it's going to end this way?
Do you think this is his last year? Basically, I

(11:00):
think he's going to play another year.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
So I'll just I'll be quick. I'll throw it back
to you.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
Based on his behavior, he seems to think he has
a lot left in the tank, right, So I don't
think this is his last year. I think it's his
last year with the Lakers. Obviously, I don't think it's
his last year. But can I just say I'm not
one thing because I don't think this is his last year.
I also don't actually know what the market would be

(11:24):
right for him.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Go ahead, Hey, it's just no, that's it, Like I
wasn't gonna cut you off.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
I just that's kind of where I am. I don't know,
like who wants to inherit this. I mean, yeah, you'll
sell some tickets because it's Lebron James, and people that
haven't gotten a chance to see him, you know, they'll
they'll be able to go and see him because it's
one of those bucket list things, like you want to
say that you saw Lebron James in person. I feel
like that there is something behind that, But you're not
bringing him in to win a championship at this point.

(11:51):
I just I don't think so the situation would know.
And when you think about this Lakers situation, what you're
talking about, you don't opt in, and once you do,
you just kind of at that point you need to
stay quiet because you made the choice. I don't know
what led him to do it, unless he thought, all right,
once I do this, then it's all going to come
back to being about me. But I think that when

(12:14):
he did it, he already knew that the page had
turned that Luca was the one that they were looking
to build around long term, as anybody should at this point, Like,
he has to admit privately, even with as giant an
ego as he has, he has to be able to
admit and to admit, Yeah, building around me is probably
not the best thing long term. But I don't know

(12:34):
that he cares about long term. He cares about Lebron
James in twenty twenty five. That's it. I don't even
know if he cares about Lebron James in twenty twenty six.
Yet he wants what he wants right now, and when
his mood changes, then he'll change around that and you
can do something for him again differently next year. And
the Lakers have decided no, because all we've done is
cater around you left and right. And what is it done.

(12:55):
It's gotten us a bubble championship that some people kind
of give a side eye to and put an ass
risk next to. Outside of that, it's gotten this pretty
much Jack Squad like. Ultimately, what has the Lebron James
experiment proved in terms of the Lakers' franchise. I don't
know that it's done much of anything. It certainly puts
some more eyeballs on the Lakers, but that was not

(13:16):
their problem. Their problem was not getting coverage and being
talked about. This just put a giant spotlight on it,
but it also put a ton of pressure on that team,
put a big microscope on it, got multiple coaches fired,
and to what end? For what purpose? And so the
Lakers are trying to turn the page, and Lebron James

(13:37):
still wants to be catered to because he's someone that's
never been told no pretty much in his entire life,
because he had cameras in his face, you know, basically
right when he became an adolescent, and it never changed
from that point in time. And he's lived up to
so much of the hype that he hasn't even had
a lot of people that could really criticize him outside
of one dude that used to work for Fox that's

(13:59):
on TV. He used to be on TV a lot.
That's been his whole career, knocking the guy down. But
at this stage, it's just amazing to me, like, how
much more do you need? Man? Like you're not going
to be seen as better than Jordan. I'm sorry. You
could continue to move the goalpost all you want, you
can continue to talk about how championships are overrated and
make jokes about somebody going to play baseball with Kevin

(14:22):
Durant and all the things that you've been doing on
your little podcast and all this kind of stuff. You're
still not going to go down as better than Michael Jordan.
You're not. So what exactly are you trying to accomplish
because you're not doing anything that's going to help them
win a championship right now. This kind of stuff doesn't
help team chemistry. You're not just going to show up
and all of a sudden be a magnificent teammate. So

(14:44):
look at all this and it's just like, what's the
end game other than Lebron James Inc. Because it's not
the Lakers, it's not the NBA, it's Lebron James Inc.
At this point, he's no better than a really talented
LeVar Ball All.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
I would say, you know, put a bow on this
is one. Uh one. I think it certainly sets up
for an interesting season because I don't think that this
is like I don't think suddenly everyone's gonna get to
training camp and it's just gonna be about Lebron again.
I just don't think that it's It's why it's interesting.
You know, I've heard a lot of people in our business,

(15:22):
and I don't think they're saying it just to kind
of make attention, create attention or headlines. You know, there's
people that say, oh, he's not gonna be on the
Lakers come day one. Now I'm not smart enough to know.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
I just know that.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
I just know that with the way the contracts work,
it feels pretty hard, pretty unrealistic to be able to
do it. But I guess what I would say is
it sets up for a very interesting season. And then
to the point that we just made, I think it
sets up for a very interesting time really whatever it
would be, you know, July August of next year. Because yeah,
to answer your question, I don't think that he's ready

(15:58):
to be done. But I also just don't know what
the market is. So it's an interesting setup. Luca gets
his extension. On Saturday, they have a press conference. Lebron,
you don't want to say he's nowhere to be found,
because he made it a priority to let everybody know
he was.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Playing golf on social media.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
He made it a priority to let everybody know that
he was playing golf, but he was not in the building,
the only real prominent laker of note that was not there,
and yeah, sets up a very very interesting season ahead.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
Freaking Lebron man freaking Lebron.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
And of course, by the way, we just to reiterate,
you know, this comes again in the week where he
did the whole posing in front of the Clippers thing.
It's just I text this to you throughout the week,
Jay mart he is officially that boyfriend or girlfriend that
you had a great run, but now they're just exhausting.
You know, there's a term that people use called an

(16:53):
energy vamp.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Is that what they call it? An energy vampire? Is
that right?

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Something?

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Yeah, that's what Lebron is.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
He just takes the energy out of the room. And again,
you know, h he could get I don't think he
did this when at a different point in his career.
I mean, he was tough to deal with, but he
was able to back it up with his play on
the court. But obviously the resume speaks for itself. In
in Los Angeles, I would argue he hasn't really lived

(17:19):
up to expectations in Los Angeles and now it's just
it's just exhausting.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
It's just exhausting.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
I would say he's behaving now, like the the meme
of the guy that's looking at the girl that passed him,
and there's there's the girlfriend there that's like, how dare you?
Lebron James is how dare you? At this point? And
Luka Doncic, especially now that he's slimmed down, is the
girl that has the Lakers swooning.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
So is Polinka the guy holding the hand and then
he's holding Lebron's hand looking back at Luca Okay, I
could see that.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Yes, it's the Lakers organization as a whole, whoever you
want to place there, And honestly, this is the part
that I think would really upset him. I also think
it's the people that are buying tickets for the Lakers. Oh.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
I mean, I could tell you real quick. I mean
I was talking to a guy at the gym today.
I just I was wearing, you know, sports gear, and
we started talking sports and he's like, get Lebron out
of here. I mean, that's something you and I have
talked about in living in LA. I could tell you
people are ready to move on to the next thing
with Lebron, Without Lebron I mean, I don't think he

(18:23):
has resonated the way that he thought he would. I
don't think he'll be remembered positively, to be perfectly honest,
And it just feels like everybody is ready by the way,
last last, last thing.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
You know.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Also feels like, you know.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
They're playing a game of survivor and the alliance is
no longer with Lebron, it's with Luca.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
It's O all buddy JJ Reddick.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
I mean, you know, whatever you think of JJ, and
I've certainly been critical, he seems to know where the
bread is going to be buttered in the buttered bread
is gonna be buttered. I think that's the right term.
I'm all over the place with these terms today. But
he seems to know who he should be aligning with.
I know he was there. Of course he's gonna be there.
He's the head coach. But you know, we've heard about
the dinners with Luca when the season ended, him and Polenka,

(19:08):
and now it feels like the guy who Lebron brought
in to be his guy going forward has kind of
turned his back on Lebron. So interesting times with the Lakers, Jamrt,
interesting times. Anything else to add before we switch gears
get some other stuff.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
No, I'm sure we'll have more before the end of
the show, or at least there'll be some kind of
passive aggressive comments said towards Lebron. Maybe there'll be a
background or something like that in one of our photos.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
I was gonna say, Lebron.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
I'm sure we'll post something on social media between now
and the end of this show that we'll, you know,
we'll get us talking about him again, because God forbid,
we don't talk about him for thirty seconds. Fox Sports
Radio er Toris Jason Martin broadcasting live from the Fox
Sports Radio studios. Luca signs that extension not the only
big and interesting piece of news of the day. We

(19:54):
had a baseball game at a NASCAR racetrack. We want
to discuss that next. MLB's push for these unique experiences,
what it means, what they could do next.

want to get.

Speaker 6 (20:26):
To, and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Yeah, you blubber list jam in me.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
Well you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 6 (20:44):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
Well, if you don't get enough Cavine on Rich, make
sure you check out over Promise and also Uncensored by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 6 (21:08):
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see on YouTube,
but definitely join us. Listen over Promised with Cadino and

Do you want to come back and talk about an

(21:50):
interesting night in the major leagues and an interesting setup
in Bristol, Tennessee. We'll get to that in just one
moment Before we do, though, first time this evening to
say or what is trending?

Speaker 7 (22:00):
Did you see the while we talk NBA, the WNBA
comment from Candice Parker this week?

Speaker 1 (22:06):
I saw that she made a comment that people were
reacting to.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
I didn't.

Speaker 7 (22:10):
She was on a new podcast this week with current
WNBA players. Okay, this is a WNBA legend. We're talking
about seven time All Star. She said to their face.
Y'all cannot come out there at the All Star Game
with shirts that say pay us what you owe us
and then play like.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
That thank you.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
You know, I thought I saw when I saw. What
I heard was that she said something that wasn't the
cookie cutter. The WNBA is great, it's perfect, whatever, So
she said, it's.

Speaker 7 (22:44):
Like one of the biggest stages, all Star setting, may
be more invested in, more than any other or the
All Star Games previously. I think it really would have
maximized the moment instead. As we talked about that nice
there was no defense, I mean no literally no blockshot
for the entire game and it was one fifty one
to one thirty one. And then today in the WNBA

(23:05):
we had one game.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
But an arrest in the WNBA too, but we'll save
that for another episode.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
Hey, I saw I saw a headline right before we
came on the air. I bet that's what you're talking about.

Speaker 8 (23:17):
Aaron is talking about that.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Yes, we want to talk about it.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
I was wondering if that was going to make your
updated that's about our Steve, but it did not.

Speaker 7 (23:24):
Minnesota is twenty four and five. They dominated at Las
Vegas today one eleven to fifty eight, but all starring
to Fista Collier left this game with an ankle injury.
Add this to the list because Brianna Stewart's been out
this week with a bone Bruce enternee for New York,
Caitlin Clark of Indiana has no timetable to return from
the groin injury, and a note on the Connecticut Sun

(23:47):
reportedly going to be sold for three hundred and twenty
five million and moved to Boston in two years. You
know they win. Caitlyn Clark visited this Shember. They did
play the game in Boston. The Lakers did give Lukadan
Sits a three year MAX extension. The Broncos signed defensive
lineman Zach Allen to a four year extension worth nearly
seventy million dollars guaranteed. By the way, I noticed, there

(24:10):
was a CFL game on TV tonight saskatchw on seven
and one people in a game that did have a
lightning delay. They eventually finished at thirty four to six
over Montreal. We finally got kind of NFL football this
past week with the Hall of Fame game. At least
it starts the exhibition schedule, and you are correct, it
is not the NFL product. So let's get excited. But

(24:31):
every year, let's kind of not get that excited. It
just means we're closer to September two major League Baseball.
And yeah, they had a great idea tonight, it's just
not finished. The ballgame at Bristol Motor Speedway and Tennessee
will resume on Fox TV Sunday at one pm Eastern time.
There was a nearly two and a half hour rain
delay at the start. Brays versus Reds play was suspended

(24:54):
by rain bottom of the first with the Reds up
one nothing, So it will be on Fox tomorrow instead
of playing. You know, they'd be playing right now and
an hour or two from now if they had. Yes,
the rain was going to taper off late tonight in Tennessee,
but they would be going deep into the night and
much of the large crowd more than eighty thousand were
expected to would not be there for the game.

Speaker 8 (25:17):
So we'll see about tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (25:18):
As for the Chicago Cubs, they were beaten at home
for to three by Baltimore today, giving up four runs
in the eighth. When the Cubs are now two games
back of the first place Brewers in the NL Central
Milwaukee eight two over Washington. Tampa Bay shut out the
Dodgers for nothing. Today, the Padres have won six in
a row. They were up for nothing at home going
to the fourth against Saint Louis. It's now for to

(25:39):
four against the Cardinals in the top of the fifth,
Colorado and Cleveland with wins. Mets back into first half
game over the Phillies because the Mets beats slumping San
Francisco twelve six, while the Phillies were beaten by Detroit
and Trek Scooble seven to five. Wins for Boston and Toronto,
and Miami shut out the Yankees two to nothing.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
Back to you, Thank you very much, Steve de Seger,
Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Saturday aeron towards Jason Martin
broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Let's talk
just very briefly about that game in Bristol, Tennessee. Uh
As Disager told you, we had a game at Bristol

(26:19):
Motor Speedway.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Very cool idea very cool concept. Frankly, very cool.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
Execution as far as the sites, the sounds, the setup.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. As Disagre just told you.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
A second ago it was a game that was suspended
in the first inning because of rain. Well, Jamart, you
probably watched a little closer and it felt like at
least twice they tried to come back. I don't know
if that's one hundred percent accurate, but when I got
into the studio they were clearly playing through rain before
it was ultimately called disappointing that, you know, disappointing that

(26:54):
it wasn't played to its finality, but it obviously will
be tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
But another really cool concept from the MLB, And to me,
I think that's the big takeaway here is it's not
breaking down a regular season baseball game that wasn't completed.
It's the fact that you know, I got to give
MLB credit is that we've talked about it before. All
of these leagues are trying to find ways to get
people interested in their regular seasons.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
It feels like MLB.

Speaker 1 (27:21):
Has come up with just very creative ways the last
couple of years to get people invested into the regular season.
Obviously a few years ago we had the Iowa Cornfield,
we had Rickwood last year in Alabama. Today Bristol Motor Speedway,
which a game again which of course will kind of
go into tomorrow. But I just think I just want
to give the MLB credit, you know, where we can

(27:43):
be critical of a lot of different leagues and a
lot of different things, but I thought this was a
pretty cool setup, and again it's unfortunate that the weather
did not cooperate.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
Yeah, I agree with everything you just said. I you know,
I told my wife last week, I was like, you know,
if this were a different time in my life, I
would definitely be there, right. You know. I'm in Nashville.
I'm a huge Braves fan, have been my whole life.
I want to say, Arnie asked me when you were
out if I was going, and I wanted to say yes,

(28:12):
But I mean, you know that you're in a stage
of life where it just things aren't as easy as
they used to be to be able to make a
trip like that. I'd made that on no trouble at all.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
The football game, no, because I.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
Know the Tennessee Virginia Tech game. Yeah, but yeah, I
mean it's a everything that I saw, like the way
that it was presented on TV, the job the Fox
had done, but just like the way that they had
it set up. I can't imagine doing it better than that,
Like I was concerned. It's just like, man, there's gonna
be some bad seats in that place to watch a
baseball game because you're going to be so far away.

(28:46):
Although I mean, you know, you know this airon final
fours in like giant football stadiums and things like that,
you're going to have that in a lot of places.
You go to WrestleMania and you're sitting up at the
top of or for instance, like Summer Slam is tonight.
If you're in the top of met Life, if you're
just watching the big screen, you basically can't see what's
happening live in the ring or anything like that. So,

(29:08):
you know, I think the technology has made a little
bit easier. But like just the flyover shots and just
the way that they had it sort of decked out,
and the way that they utilized that real estate at Bristol,
I came way impressed. And I think that you're right.
All these leagues are trying to find a way and
the NBA decided to do a tournament at the beginning
of the year, and well that.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Was not really a tournament, which is not the problem, but.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
It's not really a tournament. And has you know, weird
floor paintings and all sorts of things like that, and
you know, hockey back in the day. I remember there
was a time when there wasn't a Winter Classic. I
remember the first time they decided to play outside at
least in a very very long time, and that was
super cool. Like anytime I see hockey being played outdoors,

(29:54):
NHL hockey, I'm more apt to stop and watch that,
like it gives you something new, and it just feels fresh,
it feels it feels like something you want to see
at least for a few minutes. It's going to stop
you in your tracks just to kind of catch it
and see what it looks like, catch the ambiance and
all that. So, you know, the NFL really doesn't have
to do this. But they're going overseas and things like that,

(30:16):
but they don't have to find a bunch of weird ways.
I guess the closest thing they've done is put themselves
on Nickelodeon with you know, slime cams and things of
that nature. But I look at this and it's just, yeah,
three years in a row, they have found a way
to celebrate either history or like regional rivalry, like even
though the Reds and Braves are not in the same division.

(30:36):
I mean, because of where I live and because of
where I've lived for so long, I know a lot
of Braves fans. I know a lot of Reds fans.
When when I went to school in Kentucky, I knew
a ton of Reds fans and I knew some Braves fans.
Nashville is more of a Bravestown, but there's kind of
a cross section of a couple of different places. So
the state of Tennessee is a perfect place to do this.

(30:57):
So even though the teams might not be the most
this year, to see the venue becomes the star and
sometimes that's enough. It gives you, it gives you a
reason and hopefully then if you have one of those moments,
then you're able to put your best foot forward. It's
unfortunately you have the rain delay, but you know tomorrow

(31:18):
you'll get a Sunday afternoon audience and that should be
just fine, Like it'll that'll be okay as well. So
I mean, I think it's it's easy. There's no reason
not to call it a w It's actually been pretty
good for baseball in general this year with All Star
Game was really good. Home run Derby is pretty solid,
and now you've got this like this is you know,
it's a pretty good year when you just look at

(31:40):
sort of the extra curriculars that baseball has found themselves
some success with.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
Yeah, and you know, listen, Obviously everyone who listens knows
I'm not a huge baseball guy, but it seemed like
a very active trade deadline, you know, the Mariners making
a couple of big moves, the Padres making a couple
big moves. So yeah, I think it's been a successful,
you know, successful regular season.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
It feels like.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Baseball is kind of on the way up as a
national talking point really quickly.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
You know, I'm kind of throwing a curveball at you.

Speaker 1 (32:09):
And I don't know if you've had any thought to this,
any thought to what the next iteration of this could be.
I mean we've Yeah, it's it's like the generic July
baseball topic.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Whenever we have one of these games.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
I remember either I think I must have been filling
in with Arni at one point and we kind of
did this conversation of what's next.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
I think this was after the Iowa game.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
But anything stand out to you as far as what
could conceivably be next.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Yeah. See, I don't know what exists and what's been
torn down through the years and things like that. I'm
not up on my sports geography, but I could see
them trying to do something in Brooklyn. Yeah, that'd be
some point, did Jackie Robinson side. I mean, there's there
are a lot of different things that you could try
to do. I don't know that you can create. I mean,
the rickwid thing and the Iowa thing were just so unique.

(32:57):
I don't know how many of those you could do.
Maybe you could do a major league yeah in Cleveland
or something like that, But I mean there's there's a
lot of different things that you could lean on. Yeah,
I don't know. I mean I think it would be cool,
like go the exact opposite route of what they're doing
right now, going in front of eighty thousand, and then
you know, play something insane like Yankees Dodgers at a

(33:23):
small minor league park or something like that. Like, I
don't know what. I don't know what the answer is,
but the first thing that came to mind when you
said it was just Brooklyn because of the history involved there,
and I could see I could see those video packages
being something special.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
MLB game at Rickwood Field last year only had eight
thousand people, so it doesn't have to be a massive.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Venue like this. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
I don't have any any great ideas off top of
my head, but you know, the thing I'll say is
Rickwood probably a year or two before that game did
not seem possible because it obviously wasn't a venue that
was in use. Iowa was basically, you know, historical site
more than anything.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
So it can be done.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
I don't know what the next iteration is, but tonight
was very cool and to the eighty plus thousand people
that were there, sorry, you could not see everything in
its totality. You know, it sucks because the situations like
this is that they just don't know if everybody can
stay for tomorrow, hotel situations, all of that.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
But hopefully they do get a good crowd.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
Here's one for you. During the College World Series, have
a major League game at night. Ooh. I like that
in Omaha, like in the exact same stadium, tickets discount
for both, and like bring real stars out there to
do it. I think it would be good for the
game in general.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
They played a couple games in Williamsport, a couple of
years ago, right, yeah, yeah, I think that's right. Yeah yeah,
so that was around the Little League World Series, So
now I just put a bow on it. But credit
to Major League Baseball again. All of these leagues are
looking for things to catch our attention in the literal
dog days, in this case this summer, and I think
they did a great job tonight. For people who haven't

(35:07):
seen videos or pictures, check any social media or website.
You'll be able to find them. It was a really
cool setup and they're gonna come back tomorrow and do
it all over again. Fox Sports Radio aer toors Jason
Martin broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. MLB
at Bristol Motor Speedway not the only big sporting event
on Saturday. J Mart with a recap of another Marque

(35:31):
sporting event that you may have missed.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
We'll discuss that next. Fox Sports Radio Welcome back, everybody.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Fox Sports Radio aer tors Jason Martin, broadcasting live from
the Fox Sports Radio Studios. In addition to the game
in Bristol between the Braves and the Reds, it was
SummerSlam as well.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
J Mart.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
People don't know who Ja Mart's background. Jay Mart I'll
let you set it up. You have a background in wrestling.
Tell us what we missed, tell us everything we need
to know about SummerSlam.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Here's something pretty hilarious for you. I haven't finished the
show yet, the Saturday show. I'm actually like during commercial breaks,
I'm trying to finish the main event. Need to look man, No, no, no, no,
it's fine. I just I don't know how this main
event finishes as of yet. I've probably got looks like
about ten minutes somewhere in that neighborhood left, so somewhere

(36:20):
before the end of the show, hopefully I'll have it finished.
But it's a two night event now. It's first time
Summer Slam's ever been two nights. It's usually just WrestleMania
that's become a two night affair. But now they have
kind of grown enough to where they want to do this.
I'm not sure this year was the best one to choose,
because they've had so many shows over the last couple
of months that they just haven't had time to really

(36:43):
build up a lot of the angles and the feuds
and the programs that they were going to be running
on these two nights. I think unless I miscounted, this
was a six match night one show and it's going
to end just over three hours. Now, that's a lot
better than a super bloated six hour show like it

(37:03):
could have been. So you split it two days, and
of course you get two gates out of that. They
quoted fifty three thousand at MetLife. That probably means somewhere
closer to forty five somewhere in that neighborhood. Maybe it's
maybe it's a little bit more. A problem with open
air stadiums for events like this is you the micing
of it, the way that you have to set up

(37:24):
the acoustics can be a real crapshoot, Like you can
have a crowd that is actually really into it, but
on TV it sounds dead. I haven't really gotten that
since from this show. I think they have it miked
pretty well, or just the fans have been kind of
more invested in what is happening. If you ever wanted
to see jelly Roll Russell, he wrustled tonight might be

(37:45):
a one and done scenario for him, but he was
in there with Logan Paul in the one of the
feature bouts. Cardi b is the host of the event.
Oh okay today and tomorrow, she just feels like a celebrity.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
It just feels like a celebrity Madlet.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
Yeah, Car, Yeah, that's true. But I mean there's a
there's a lot of slibs that now attend and weirdly
now that they're on Netflix, like whoever has the Netflix
show or special that's premiering is always at raw, Like
it's guaranteed every single time that they're going to show
this person who I've never laid eyes on before and
tell me about some show, some comedy show or variety

(38:22):
show or something that I have zero interest in. But
you know, you have to pay the way that you
have to do everything. But in terms of the show itself,
I would just say this because I never want to
spoil anything for anybody that's going into it. And yeah,
I worked in pro rustling for about ten years and
I've written about it off and on for I don't
know over twenty five even though I haven't done it
in a couple of years now. But very easy watch,

(38:46):
not a whole lot memorable yet I kind of think
I know what they're going to do at the end
of this show, and that will be relatively memorable. Tomorrow
night's main event is going to be memorable. Whatever they
do at the end of that match is going to
be massive. With John Cena and Cody Rhoades, whether the
Rock shows up, whether Travis Scott shows up again, however
they want to run this, I think it will be

(39:06):
effective this show tonight. I don't know that a whole
lot of people are gonna remember a lot about it.
Thought the opener was really good, and this main event
is an excellent old school match that's telling a wonderful story.
So I'm looking forward to finishing it during the next
couple of commercial breaks or whatever. But WW is doing
pretty good business. I don't think the product right now
is as good as it's been or as it was

(39:28):
last year at this time, not even close as a
matter of fact. So that's kind of why I expected
them to do a lot of big things here to
kind of turn that around a bit. Not sure that
they've succeeded in that yet, but with the main event tonight,
main event tomorrow, they're going to have the opportunity to
do that. So big happening there Netlife doing their thing.
It'll be the most entertaining thing that takes place in

(39:50):
that stadium this year.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
Oh, no shots.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
The NFL move right there, right to the NFC East. Wow.

Speaker 1 (39:59):
Just the Jets and Giants taken strays by the way,
completely unrelated to WWE, but also related to the NFL.
In MetLife, read an article this week of like, oh,
Aaron Glenn really changed the culture with the Jets.

Speaker 2 (40:12):
I'm like, yeah, I've heard that for the last fifteen
coaches that they've had. Okay, let's get to September see
if they win some games.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
So anyway, all right, j mart We appreciate that update
on SummerSlam. Busy night in WWE, but also say this
busy week in the NFL. That's right, training camps are open.
We had the Hall of Fame game, but we gotta
come back. We gotta discuss the big story of the weekend,
Michael Parsons. Will he actually be on the move? How

(40:40):
did it get so bad? Fox Sports Artio Welcome in everybody,
hour two towards martin Fox Sports Radio. We are broadcasting
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios, taking you up
till two am Eastern time. Bernie Fritto of The Bernie
Fratto Show will follow us. Cannot wait to hear what

(41:02):
Bernie has to say about a busy week in sports.
By the way, Bernie always features Mark Medina, and I
know Medina will have a ton of great stuff on
the LUCA news of the day and the fallout around
it with Lebron not being there. We'll reset that story
in an hour. If you missed our conversation on Luca
signing Lebron's no show, make sure to download the podcast.

(41:25):
Do you want to get to the NFL j Mart
And obviously, look, there's one big story that's kind of
taken over the news cycle, I think for most of
training camp, but certainly over the last twenty four hours.
That of course is Micah Parsons and his situation with
the Dallas Cowboys. As of a week ago, it was
kind of Jerry's kind of weird comments about, you know,

(41:47):
about we're excited but for him to sign, but he
also gets hurt a lot, and that was weird.

Speaker 2 (41:54):
And it has just.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Been this this again, just weird situation, you know, Adam
Schefter early in the week reporting that it was further away,
the two sides had actually gotten further apart than they
were getting closer together. And then of course everything kind
of came to a head on Friday, when Michael Parsons
did in fact demand a trade, did in fact say

(42:17):
that he no longer wanted to be in Dallas. It
is worth noting he did show up to practice today
but was pretty standoffish, was not obviously certainly not standing
with either Jerry or Stephen Jones. Bring it up to
just say, let me just ask you, j Mart big picture.
We can get to actually, let me ask you a
big picture. Do you believe that Michael Parsons will be

(42:39):
anything other than a Dallas cowboy the next time he's
on an NFL field? And then from there we'll get
to how did it get so bad? But first question,
let's just start there. Do you think there's any scenario
where he is on another team the next time he
takes the field in an NFL uniform?

Speaker 3 (42:55):
No, yeah, I don't need I think that this one's
closer than some others that we have seen when it
comes to like I remember when Miles Garrett said trade
me and then like a month later signed a long
time extension with the Browns. I think this one's closer
than that. I did read a couple of people that

(43:16):
were close to Michael Parsons at least people in the
league that knew him and his representation, and their response
to the way the Cowboys have handled this is this
is the wrong player to do this with. This is
the wrong guy to do this with, and the wrong
agent to do this with as well. And Mike has
come out it is strangely he's come out and said,
you know, there's been a lot of shots taken and

(43:37):
all this kind of stuff. But one article that I read,
and I hadn't really thought about this, but this is
kind of what the Cowboys do. Sure, they take a
lot of time yep before they signed these extensions ceedee lamb.
I think Zach Martin multiple times, and I think jj
Watt was the one that said this, and there was

(43:57):
somebody else as well that sort of backed it up.
And there was an executive in the league who was
anonymous or whatever, but he said they keep costing himselves
money because it just gets an expensive they don't get
a better deal. And jj Watt said that he's like, dude,
sign him sooner rather than later. The price tag always
goes up. And he's not wrong, Like that's exactly right.
What is the end goal here for the Cowboys other

(44:20):
than being in the news cycle, like other than this
becoming a major talking point, what is the win here?
So do you want Michael Parsons to go somewhere else
because you're gonna end up paying him what he wants?
He really and truly he has the leverage because he's
the one that you need. He doesn't need you. Every
team in the league wants Michael Parsons.

Speaker 1 (44:40):
Yeah, so let's start there, because it is an interesting point.
I actually, you know, going back and looking, I actually
forgotten this. Dak didn't actually even sign his contract or
agree to terms on his contract until right around the
start of the season last year.

Speaker 3 (44:53):
Ye that's right.

Speaker 1 (44:53):
Yeah, I thought it had been like late in training camp,
a training camp nonetheless.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
And one you know, I had thought of that.

Speaker 1 (45:01):
I hadn't really put a ton of thought into it,
but it always does happen late in the calendar, to
your point, and obviously is costing the Cowboys nothing but
more money right just in this offseason, Max Crosby, TJ. Watt,
Miles Garrett, as you said, all signed extensions, and now
obviously Michael Parsons is going to want to be the
highest paid out of all them. I think that's a

(45:23):
pretty nice metaphor for just the state of the Cowboys.
I mean, it is funny. I think you and I
were kind of on this maybe before everybody, not before
everybody else, but even during that coaching search, it was
like you felt like there.

Speaker 2 (45:39):
Had to be like when they didn't re sign.

Speaker 1 (45:44):
Mike McCarthy, like you felt like there had to be
some big secret that none of us were in on.
And it was like, oh, no, they're just a disaster,
and they're going to hire a guy that literally is
not a candidate for any other head coaching job.

Speaker 2 (45:58):
But it's like the.

Speaker 1 (45:58):
Nicks next, Yeah, yeah, him and Mike Brown.

Speaker 2 (46:02):
I mean, you know, at least Mike Brown, you know how.

Speaker 3 (46:05):
Well, well you know Mike. I'm not not dogging on
Mike Brown, but just that the the same point that
not having a plan, Oh they've got a master plan. No,
not really, they're just inept.

Speaker 1 (46:14):
Well, and that's exactly it. And and I think this
is a metaphor for that is. And listen, I think
there's probably some truth to you know, Jerry now in
his mid eighties, maybe you know, the mental acuity not
being as sharp as it once was. I just think
that's kind of indisputable, But you look at again like, like,

(46:34):
let's go back to that that that coaching decision, right,
is that, first of all, I think there was real
debate about why Mike McCarthy was even coaching this year
to begin with, after all of those disastrous playoff losses,
headlined of course by the blow out against the Packers
at home. But then you bring him back, then they

(46:55):
struggle with Dak, then they struggle without Dak, then they
sort of get hot, and there's the weird argument of
should you bring him back, and he's really rallied the troops,
and then the season ends. You take your sweet time,
and I'm not saying they would have gotten Ben Johnson,
but he comes off the board. Bill Belichick obviously comes
off the board. Basically any credible candidate that you could

(47:17):
want comes off the board. And so it's the exact
same thing that's going on with Micah is whatever the
decision is going to be, and Mike is a little
more clearcut, you're obviously going to pay him. But it's like,
again to your point, this could have been done months ago,
like Miles Garrett, like Max Crossby, even TJ. Watt a
few weeks ago, and instead you drag it on. I

(47:38):
just think it's a bigger metaphor for the disaster that
kind of is the Cowboys. But I think there's a
lot of parallels to the decision with the coach, you know,
seven eight months ago, where it was like there was
a way to handle it no matter who you ended
up getting, and you made the wrong decision every step
of the way. And that is exactly how it right

(48:00):
now with this Michael Parson situation as he again has
requested a trade.

Speaker 3 (48:04):
Yeah, I mean it doesn't look bad for Micah. Like
a lot of times when the players holding out trying
to get more money, the people are against him or
against the player, They usually, for some reason side with ownership.
I don't think most people are in this case, and
I think one of the big reasons why is because
there's been like this veneer in this facade for so
long about the brilliance of the business, acumen of the

(48:29):
Cowboys and all this other kind of stuff. I think
it's over. It is. I think people finally see completely
through this, Like they have not been good on a
regular basis for a very very long time. They've done
a lot of baffling things. They haven't drafted, in my opinion,
particularly well. Certainly, the coaching situation has not been ideal.

(48:52):
They kept Jason Garrett for any eternity, yep, and didn't
get much out of that. Then they bring in Mike McCarthy,
who was I mean, that's like, it's like ordering toast
for breakfast, Like nothing against toast. Toast is a pretty
tasty thing. I enjoy it, but most people are going
to find something else on the menu that's a little
bit more exciting than that. So you look at that

(49:12):
and then you end up with Brian Schottenheimer. Now you're
kind of weird in how you decide to pay. You
want to be front page news and drag it out
as long as humanly possible. You don't win playoff games.
I don't know if your quarterback is good. I don't
know if he's happy. I don't know if your linebacker
is happy. I don't know if your wide receiver is happy.
The only thing that I know is I just look

(49:34):
at that franchise and it's just kind of yeah, this
whole like America's Team and everything else, they're not a
well run organization. They're not They make a ton of money,
but it's because it's on autopilot. It's not because they're
being incredibly savvy. It's just because it's become tradition and
cowboys equals ratings. It's not earned anymore whatsoever. There's nothing

(49:58):
that the organization is doing that is positive other than
the tabloid kind of stuff to keep them in the news.
And I don't know if that's the plan or not.
I sure hope it is, because if not, what in
the world are you doing? Like none of this is
helping you at all. All you're doing is falling further
behind now two teams in your own division, and if

(50:20):
you don't watch out, you're gonna be looking up at
Jackson Dart and whoever the next coach of the Giants is.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
It's all one hundred percent accurate.

Speaker 1 (50:28):
And yeah, no, I think that I've been on that
for a while because I mean I think you even
go back to two years ago again when they lose
that game in the playoffs and it's like, oh my god,
they can't bring back Mike McCarthy, and it's like Jerry,
whatever reputation he had once upon a time, it hasn't
been that dude for a while. And I only say,

(50:48):
I've been on it because I've told the story a
million times. But I remember the week that Jason Garrett
got fired. It must have been December January, because Arnie
span and I were filling in every single day for
about five six straight days whatever. And I only bring
it up because he come out of at that time

(51:09):
week seventeen and it was clear like Jason Garrett wasn't
coming back, and it was like, you know, and again
it was one of those well who could they get
and you have all these big names in the back
of your head and it's like, well, you know what
about this guy? And then you go through the week
and it's like, well, he's definitely getting fired Sunday after
the game, doesn't happen. We come on air Monday, Well,

(51:30):
it didn't happen today, but it's definitely happening tomorrow. We
come on air Tuesday, definitely didn't it did not happen
on Tuesday. Come on air Wednesday. Maybe they're going to
keep him in a front office row. And I just
bring it up because it took like six days to
even fire Jason Garrett. And ever since then, it's just
been on my radar of whatever you think Jerry is
that's not who he is anymore.

Speaker 2 (51:49):
By the way.

Speaker 1 (51:50):
Yeah, and I'll say this, like the drafting has actually
been pretty good, so I'm not criticizing the drafting.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
But again, you go through the years.

Speaker 1 (51:58):
Johnny Manziel, I mean, he's from uh, Texas, He's gonna
be a cowboy, doesn't end up being a cowboy. Shador Sanders, Well,
I mean, you know, he's Dion's son. They're not gonna
they pass on him. So I just bring it up
because Jerry isn't who we think he is. And and
it goes to a conversation that not only you and
I have had, but literally everyone on this airwaves is

(52:20):
these airwaves, is that they're just kind of a laughing stock.
Like I think, you know, I said this to Dan
Buyer the other day, is like it feels like there's
a joke that we're all supposed to be in on,
but they're the only ones in on it.

Speaker 2 (52:35):
And it's not a joke. It's just reality.

Speaker 1 (52:37):
Like I said, it's just like every move that they make,
we think there's this big secret master plan and it's like, no,
they're just gonna kind of screw this.

Speaker 2 (52:46):
Up and whatever.

Speaker 1 (52:47):
So I don't even know if I have anything else
to add, but it's just it's just frustrating to watch
as a fan of football, because this is not an
organization that needs to be tripping over its own feet
the way that they do. But it's just every single
time there's a big move to be made, they seemingly
make the wrong decision every step of the way.

Speaker 3 (53:06):
Yeah, so think about it. Like I was thinking as
you were talking, like one thing is I think they're boring,
Like really, as a team, they're not interesting, Like they're
not even interesting at all. Like, yeah, we just spent
a whole segment on it, but we're talking about this
Micah Parsons deal kind of as we're basically saying, yeah,
they're not very interesting. I don't exactly understand the endgame

(53:28):
here at all. It doesn't make sense. They haven't had
interesting coaches, they haven't had a bunch of interesting personalities
in a while. They have a few, but not a lot.
But it's like, look, if you're a messy person, all right,
if you're just a slob, I can put you in
the nicest home ever to be created. I can put
you in the taj Mahal. I can put you in

(53:49):
mar A Lago. I can put you in the nicest
home imaginable. I can put you in a ten million
dollar mansion. It's still gonna look like crap after a
few weeks. Like it doesn't. It doesn't matter because you
are who you are, So you have all the advantages
in the world. If you're the Dallas Cowboys. You have
the built in America's team thing and the fan base.
You have all the merchandise that sells to everybody across

(54:10):
the country. You have television networks getting down on their
knees and begging for as many games with you as
humanly possible. And yet you run things so conservatively, and
so everything feels delayed, if that makes any sense, Like
everything around the Cowboys organization, it feels like there's like

(54:32):
lag in the Wi Fi, yeah, or something like that.
It just takes too long to do everything. And then
by the time you do the thing, you've either won,
like in this case with Michael Parsons, cost yourself money,
or two lost out on candidates or players that would
have been better for you than who you ended up with,
because like, ultimately you end up making a decision. It's
like maybe Jerry gets dragged to the finish line at

(54:54):
some point and he's like, Okay, yeah, you're right, we
probably do need to make this move. And then if
you're in the room with him, you're like, well, now
you need to make that move like a month ago.
Now what we would want to do isn't there anymore.
But they still make the move even though the fix
is not there anymore. Like everything feels slow. Yeah, I
don't don't. I don't know how else to say it

(55:14):
other than that it's just a franchise that seems to
be in second gear in an F one race.

Speaker 1 (55:20):
All I'll add, and I've told this story before, but
my nephew a huge, huge, huge Cowboys fan, and unfortunately,
you know, he's like twenty four to twenty five, so
he does not remember the Michael Irvin, Dion Sanders, Troy Aikman,
year's Emmitt Smith as well, and I remember seeing him

(55:40):
last year. He lives back on the East Coast, so
I don't get to see him as much. And it
was before Dak got hurt, and I said, so what
do you think of the team? A little bit of
a slow start, And he honestly said, he said, Aaron,
I've just come to accept as long as Jerry's there, it's.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
Never gonna get better.

Speaker 1 (55:56):
And I hate to say it, I just think it's
the truth. And you know, not wishing mortality on an
eighty two year old man here, but just this organization
is not what people perceive it to be. And this
is the latest example. And I think the last thing
i'd say too, j Mark, I think the part that

(56:18):
you brought up is an important one is that I
think in a lot of cases, when you have situations
like this, people tend to side with with ownership and management.
I don't feel like the perception is that way. No, Yeah, no,
I don't either.

Speaker 3 (56:32):
Yeah, yeah, I think we I think we've gotten to
the end of it there. But like yeah, like Mike's
gonna get his money and then people are just gonna
say what was this for the last month? Like what
exactly are you? What are you doing? Yes?

Speaker 1 (56:47):
And I mean even if and the weird thing about
this one specifically is he's gonna get paid, even if
he becomes the highest paid player ever. There was just
so much unnecessary shrapnel. Yeah, of blick comments that just
didn't need to be made. So how about them cowboys?
How about them? Cowboys.

Right so every week between now And week one of
THE nfl, season we are previewing a division in THE.
Nfl we've done THE Nfc, East we've done THE Nfc,
north giving our picks on the over underwin totals for each. Team,
BRANDON i want to bring it in. TODAY i think
we do THE Nfc. West, mary give us a little,

(01:02:51):
Music let us know what you need to. Do let
us know what we need to.

Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
Know.

Speaker 8 (01:02:55):
Brandon.

Speaker 9 (01:02:55):
Yeah so last week you guys did do THE Nfc.
North you were pretty you agree lot on some of.
THOSE i have those. Tallied this week it's THE Nfc
west with the forty nine, ers ten point five, wins
the over under leader and why, well easiest schedule in
football according to every advanced, ranking and the divisions they

(01:03:16):
play aren't that? Good aaron will start with.

Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
You, yeah that was the first thing that stood out
for all of THESE Nfc west. Teams they have crossovers
with THE Afc south and THE Nfc. South, yeah that's
a lot of wins for all of these, teams whether
it be you, know whatever you think of The, Panthers, Falcon,
saints whatever you think of The, Jags, colts.

Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
WHATEVER a lot of wins baked into these.

Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
Schedules and the thing that stood out to me J,
mart that there is a prop On DraftKings sportsbook of
teams you can bet teams that you expect to win
the most. Games San francisco coming off the season that
they did last, year is, fifth behind Only, Philadelphia, Buffalo,

(01:04:04):
casey And baltimore in terms of expected. WINS i bring
it up to, say As brandon, said the schedule is a.
Laugher the injury situation can't get worse.

Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
Than it was a year. AGO i like ten and
a half over.

Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
Easily IF i was In vegas right, NOW i think
this would probably be my number one bet so. FAR
i Like San francisco to comfortably go over ten and a.

Speaker 3 (01:04:27):
HALF i don't think they're gonna win five games this.

Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
Year the forty nine, ers that's, Right you're you're, joking, Right.

Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
Listen have you checked out who they play in week
one of the Preseason Denver.

Speaker 8 (01:04:42):
Broncos that's, Right, okay.

Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
They're not going to survive.

Speaker 10 (01:04:46):
That, No oh, OKAY i get it so badly in
that game against my fellas that they're going to struggle
to even suit up for the first.

Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
Month and a half of.

Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
It, No i'm gonna make it a.

Speaker 3 (01:04:59):
Quill i'll end the joke. There, Yes i'm over as
well for all the reasons that you. Mentioned but, YEAH
i mean you look at that. Schedule if you don't
go over ten and a half based on that, schedule,
boy it's been a rough year and maybe we're having
conversations after this. One so, again everything is subject to
big injuries of, course, yes BUT i don't see a

(01:05:20):
scenario outside of that where they don't go over that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
Number brand you are a resident forty Nine ers. Fan
anything to add before we get to the next, Team.

Speaker 9 (01:05:28):
Yeah you know it's media is pretty divided on what
they think the forty nine ers will be this, year,
Right like some are, like, oh they're Super bowl contenders back,
right all they need IS Cmc Trent williams. Healthy they
really bolstered that defensive. LINE i don't think people realize
they don't watch. Them they had no d linemen last
year Besides Nick. Bosa these were all undrafted free agents

(01:05:49):
and late round. Guys they Drafted Mikel, WILLIAMS Cj, Wes Alfred.
Collins even if they don't have a pass, rush they're
going to be a top five run.

Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
Defense So i'm over as. WELL i think they get thirteen.

Speaker 9 (01:05:59):
WINS i have a bias, there Obviously i'm, biased BUT
i think thirteen's pretty with their, schedule even with trap games.
Thirteen next up we got The Los Angeles, rams. Though
now this one's shocked me a little. Bit, guys nine
and a half for a team THAT i think a
lot of people are saying as a dark horse to
go to the Super bowl this.

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
Year jane mart what are your.

Speaker 3 (01:06:19):
Thoughts i'm kind of torn BECAUSE i can understand the
dark horse, thing BUT i can also, say, yeah maybe
we're overrating them based on what we think of what
they've done in the. PAST i don't. NOT i think
the reason Why i'm gonna go over is because nine
and a half feels, low LIKE i think. You're the
way you set it up is WHY i feel. COMFORTABLE

(01:06:40):
i think if this word ten and a, HALF i
would be a little bit more. CAUTIOUS i could see
them having an up and down kind of. Year doesn't
mean that it couldn't end in glory for. Them they
could still make a Super. Bowl BUT i don't know
that it's going to be the easiest looking regular. SEASON
i think The rams are kind of going to be
A jecko And high team from week to, week and
it's gonna kind of it's just going to depend on the.

(01:07:01):
Matchups so, Yes i'm going, over But i'm not as
high on them as a lot of people.

Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
Are, yeah you, know it's interesting to go back in.
Hindsight they only quote unquote won ten games last, year
and SO i think that's probably where some of the,
consternation if you, will could Be with that, SAID i,
mean you look at some of the losses that they
had lost To detroit early in the. Season in ot
this is a team that also lost to The Philadelphia.

(01:07:29):
Eagle so the top two teams in THE nfc and
really struggled out of the gates start at one and
four and got hot from. There and SO i don't,
Listen i'm not smart enough to know exactly how these
numbers come, together BUT i kind of feel like part
of it is probably, just, hey you, know it's hard
to go much past nine and a half wins when
you only got ten a season. Ago with that, said,

(01:07:52):
again the schedules are just so manageable. Now they obviously
have a first play. Schedule they do Play, philly they
do Play. Detroit but you, know you get this Schedule
texans week, One titans week, two you do Have, Philly colts,
Early jaguars. Early they would basically have to lose to
every marquee team on the schedule and then take a

(01:08:12):
couple of weird. LOSSES i just it's hard for me
to find eight losses on this schedule to go what
they would have to, GO i guess nine and. Eight,
yeah there's not eight losses on this. Schedule something weird
would have to happen for them to not hit. Nine,
YEAH i just or to not hit. Ten excuse, ME
i just can't see.

Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
It.

Speaker 9 (01:08:31):
Yeah and they've also started off bad in the last few,
seasons and they've had a second half. Run so even
if they start off poorly, AGAIN i feel like they
always kind of figure it. Out next up shocked, me, though,
Guys cardinals eight and a half over The, seahawks and
win Total aaron.

Speaker 1 (01:08:49):
Eight and a, half so they'd have to go nine and,
eight you, know just to just guys weird team Know Kyler,
murray weird, guy The Marvin harrison. Thing you, know he
really didn't start out that. Well he finished fine with

(01:09:10):
sixty two, catches eight tds as a rookie last. Year
what's the, Number? Brandon eight and a half feels right
on the. Money this is. One IF i was In,
VEGAS i would probably just stay, away would not be
betting it. Again you just look at the schedule and
it's just there's so many wins baked into the. Schedule

(01:09:30):
theirs is a little bit different. Though they do play The,
packers the count.

Speaker 3 (01:09:35):
Some tough road games, too im and they go they
go To Tampa, bay they go To, houston they go To. Cincinnati. Yeah,
Yeah Like i'm under on them because somebody has to be,
like they're not all gonna go over their win. Total
even THOUGH i Think kyler might have a good, YEAR
i JUST i don't, know because it's it's hard to

(01:09:56):
make heads or tails of The. Cardinals so history tells
ME i should under.

Speaker 1 (01:10:00):
Deeper So i'm gonna go. UNDER i was gonna say.
DEEPER i look at the schedule. DEEPER i agree that
IT'S i think the play has to be under.

Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
There so we're three for three with the same.

Speaker 1 (01:10:10):
Thoughts who's the last? Team, WELL i know who the
last team, Is, brandon go ahead and.

Speaker 3 (01:10:13):
Give it to.

Speaker 9 (01:10:13):
Us, yeah if you Guys, seattle and you, know it's
interesting Because i've heard actually a lot of people in
On seattle around media. Outlets you, Know Sam darnold some
think is an upgrade Over. GINO i seem to, disagree.

Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
But it seems Like. Vegas, yeah it.

Speaker 9 (01:10:28):
Seems Like vegas disagrees as. Well they haven't met seven
and a half FLOW.

Speaker 3 (01:10:32):
Us in the. Division, YEAH i mean they go To
pittsburgh early in the. Year they go To washington mid,
season somewhere in that. Neighborhood so they got a couple
of tough road, games but a lot of their road
games are. Manageable they go To, atlanta they go To,
tennessee To. Jacksonville those are all winnable kinds of. GAMES
i like you, said seven and a, half, yeah seven

(01:10:55):
and a. Half, YEAH i think they they probably can
can manage eight. WINS i certainly do not think That
Sam darnold is some guaranteed upgrade Over Geno, smith at
least not in games that down the stretch when you
really need. Him donald still yet to prove that maybe he.
Can but you know you don't HAVE dk this year.
Either like there's just some changes about That seahawks. ROSTER

(01:11:16):
i DO i think they can SQUEEZE i, SAID i
said it was, over but Now i'm talking myself back.
Out the schedule just looks really easy to. Me So
i'll say.

Speaker 1 (01:11:24):
Over just for the sake of, Disagreement i'll say, under, okay,
yeah maybe. Right well number feels about. Right you, know
first of, All, JAMAR i forget what the context was about,
this BUT i remember talking to you month, ago two months, ago,
whatever and we both were, like, wait, SEE i don't
won ten games last year BECAUSE i really don't remember
anything about their season in a positive or negative. Way

(01:11:48):
it just kind of happened in a. Vacuum BUT i,
Listen i've never been A Sam donald. Guy i've never
believed in. HIM i think he was a byproduct Of
kevin O'Connell last year defense head, coach you, know second
offensive coordinator in two years For. SEATTLE i Know Sam
donald wasn't THERE i just don't believe.

Speaker 3 (01:12:07):
It Sam.

Speaker 2 (01:12:08):
Donald here's the other.

Speaker 1 (01:12:08):
Thing the defense was okay last, year But mike McDonald
was sold as this, visionary you, KNOW x factor. Guy
it didn't really show up on the bottom, line and
So i'm not a believer In. Donald this feels to
me a little bit like When Matt ruhle took over
The Carolina panthers and he was just this lauded head

(01:12:31):
coach and kind of went through a bunch of quarterbacks
and all of a sudden never really.

Speaker 2 (01:12:34):
Figured out the.

Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
Quarterback i'll just be curious for the third. Time not
A donald guy, schedule you know. Whatever but, Yeah i'm
gonna go under on The.

Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
Seahawks so all, right so four teams.

Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
Total j mart AND i both go over On San,
francisco both go over on The Los Angeles, rams both
go under on The Arizona. CARDINALS i go under On,
seattle and J mark goes. Over Fox Sports Radio Aer,
Tors Jason, martin we are broadcasting live from The Fox
Sports radio. Studios we will come back when we. Do
we got to get to the. Saga everything you missed

(01:13:08):
on a Busy saturday. Night Fox Sports. Radio welcome, back.
Everybody Fox Sports, Radio Eric, Torris Jason martin broadcasting live
from The Fox Sports radio, studios as we do every
week around this. Time let's get it over the news
desk To sager give us our extended.

Speaker 7 (01:13:26):
Update, well, guys we do have on THE mlb calendar
this month the game At Bristol Motor speedway. Tomorrow, yes
that will Resume sunday On FOX tv one Pm Eastern.
Time we've talked about all the rain they had, tonight
bottom of the First reds leading The braves one. Nothing
it'll resume from, there and then in a couple of
weeks it's the so Called Players weekend where the players

(01:13:47):
can have their own custom bats painted and custom, cleats
tell their own. Stories, also in a couple of weeks
they are due to have another ballgame In, Williamsport, Pennsylvania
Catlin Lakes. Stadium there it's gonna be against The mariners
in two weeks and they are calling it the eighth
annual event At. Williamsport what did remind me of the? Uh,

(01:14:09):
well looking at THIS rbi, single the one run in
the not even full inning they played At Bristol Motor speedway,
tonight if you saw the ball go through in the left,
field it was, like you, know a, pond and that
putting it mildly on the left side of the. Infield
so much hard rain was falling after they resumed the game.
Tonight it reminded me very much of The Phillies World

(01:14:32):
series Against Tampa bay two thousand and. Eight The phills
had A game five at. Home they were going to
be clinching The World series that. Night they tried so
hard to finish.

Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
That game in the.

Speaker 7 (01:14:42):
Rain it was a pool of, one like almost An
olympic pool at one point on the left side of the.
INFIELD i mean to the point that the the, umpire
the crew, chief in giving an interview, afterwards was saying
it was threatening to make the game. Comical and finally
in the sixth inning they called and there was more
rain the next, night so they didn't resume. It it

(01:15:03):
went from A monday to A wednesday before The World
series finally. Finished with the end Of game five In,
philadelphia there, was according to the reports going into This
Bristol Motor speedway ball game, tonight a chance at a
record For Major League baseball attendance for one, game more
than eighty thousand fans were. Expected the ticket, sales they

(01:15:25):
said were at least eighty five. Thousand some have said this.
Incorrectly this would be for a regular season. Game when
The dodgers first moved To Los, Angeles Dodgers stadium hadn't been.
Built for the first four years IN, la The dodgers
played baseball at THE La, coliseum a baseball field on
top of what we know as THE usc football. Field

(01:15:45):
when The dodgers made The World series in nineteen fifty,
nine for three straight, days attendance was ninety two thousand
for The World Series, Dodgers White sox and, yes that
is still the.

Speaker 8 (01:15:57):
Record on top of, that The.

Speaker 7 (01:16:00):
Dodgers in two thousand and, eight to celebrate the fiftieth
anniversary of the franchise moving To Los angeles in Late
march of that. Year in, eight they held an exhibition
game at THE La, coliseum invited The Red sox to
play The dodgers in a preseason, game and attendance was
one hundred and fifteen thousand at The coliseum for Baseball

(01:16:23):
dodgers at The coliseum in two thousand and, eight because
they had standing room only tickets on top of the
football field beyond the right field. Fence keep in, mind
baseball field is not one hundred yards. Long they had
space beyond the outfield. Fence they also had bleachers underneath
The olympic torch at the peristyle end of the. Coliseum

(01:16:44):
they packed one hundred and fifteen thousand fans in there
for A Dodgers Red sox. Exhibition so this is ridiculously
impressive what we, saw what little we saw At Bristol Motor,
speedway it will be a regular season attendance. Record we
saw some ridiculously entertaining baseball last. NIGHT i don't know
if you were up late or, heard but yesterday was

(01:17:06):
the first time in the modern era of baseball that
we had two different games on the same day have
at least forty hits in them. Combined there was The
milwaukee game sixteen to nine At washington that was sixteen
to four in the ninth The brewers offense went twenty
five for fifty two at the. Plate and then there
was a game In miami where The marlins beat The

(01:17:26):
yankees thirteen to twelve with three runs in the bottom
of the. Ninth the losing pitcher was just acquired in.
Trade Camillo, davall who had Been giants, closer and this
was after the Former pirates closer who The yankees also
just acquired in, Trade David bednar allowed a couple runs
in the seventh and another acquisition At speedster they put

(01:17:48):
as a defensive replacement and right over ran a ball
and that cost. Him so they had a huge attendance
for this, game a lot Of yankee fans there In,
miami thirty two thousand for A marlins game where they
average twelve thousand a. Game and it winds Up miami
down nine to four in the, seventh winning the game
thirteen to twelve against The, yankees who after today's loss

(01:18:10):
are not even in second place in The Al. East
and then there was the comeback At. Colorado, yes there
were forty hits combined in that. One it is course.
Field but this is A rockies team that went in
with a record of twenty eight to eighty and they
were down nine to nothing in the first inning last
night against A pirates team that had won five in a.
Row The rocky starter four and fourteen this, Year Antonio.

(01:18:32):
Senzateela his era went up to over seven for the.
Season he gave up a grand. Slam a reliever in
the first gave up a three run. Homer, Eventually colorado
wins seventeen to sixteen with five runs in the bottom
of the ninth and the game winning two run homer
last night By Brenton, doyle a guy who was betting
two sixteen and had four hits in the. GAME a

(01:18:55):
note from THE wnba that The Connecticut sun will reportedly
be sold for three hundred twenty five million dollars and
moved To boston in two. Years the record for this
team is five and twenty one this, year but they
have had great seasons the previous four. Years for, example
apparently the last time a team in THE wnba was
sold twenty twenty, one a group bought The Atlanta dream

(01:19:18):
for under ten million dollars and a year. Early Mark
davis buying The Las Vegas, aces paid roughly two million.
Dollars compared to that, lot the sale for The clippers
was two billion dollars with A. B THIS wnba team
was sold for two million with AN m to The raiders.
Owner and now This Connecticut suns sale is apparently for

(01:19:41):
three hundred twenty five million. Dollars and keep in mind
THE wnba has five expansion teams starting over.

Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
The next five.

Speaker 7 (01:19:49):
Season portland next year gets a Team, Toronto cleveland in
twenty twenty, Eight detroit's back in the business in THE
wnba twenty twenty, Nine philadelphia in twenty, thirty and each
new team paid an expansion fee of two hundred and
fifty million.

Speaker 2 (01:20:04):
Dollars ALL i heard?

Speaker 1 (01:20:06):
There Why Mark, davis the great businessman of our, generation who?

Speaker 2 (01:20:12):
KNEW i had no?

Speaker 1 (01:20:13):
Idea, jmark we might have to TALK wnba expansion before
the other.

Speaker 2 (01:20:18):
Five new show five new.

Speaker 3 (01:20:19):
Teams can we put The Benny hill music underneath it
while we do?

Speaker 5 (01:20:23):
It?

Speaker 4 (01:20:23):
All?

Speaker 2 (01:20:24):
Right, Well i'll tell you. What no expansion in THE.

Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
Nba But luca showed up to his press conference Today
lebron did. Not Fox Sports radio welcome in everybody our
three tours And Martin Fox Sports. Radio we are broadcasting
live from The Fox Sports radio. Studios one hour left

(01:20:51):
for taking it up till two Am. Eastern Bernie freddo
Of The Bernie Fretto show follows. Us cannot wait to
hear What bernie has to say about a busy week
in sports AS nfl is. Here we'll talk a little
bit about The hall Of fame game in just a few. Minutes,
obviously college football.

Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
Were what three saturdays? AWAY J? Mart is that, Right week,
ZERO i believe is three saturdays, Away so it's coming.

Speaker 1 (01:21:17):
Quick at some point we'll have to do our college
football playoff picks like we did last.

Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
Year but.

Speaker 1 (01:21:25):
Actually want to start with WHAT i think was PROBABLY
i think you would probably, Agree jay mart biggest story
of the day, Obviously, look you Know Micah parsons stole
headlines On. Friday saturday was, actually in my, opinion about
The Los Angeles, lakers their future and also their. Presence
So Luka doncic obviously has been A laker for whatever, five, six,

(01:21:49):
seven eight months, now whatever it, was was traded In
february and On saturday signed a three, year one hundred
and sixty five million dollar. Extension, there, right that was
the Big when he was traded to The, lakers The
MAVs were a little bit questionable about wanting to give
him that big long term. Extension The lakers not. Afraid
they give him the one hundred and sixty five million dollar.

(01:22:10):
Extension by the, way in the same week, that of,
course he graced the covers Of Men's, health So luca's
in the best shape of his.

Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
Life he gets a big deal and as.

Speaker 1 (01:22:20):
Part of the press, conference basically Every laker of note was, there,
including by the, way not JUST Jj reddick the head,
coach not Just Rob polinka THE, gm But DeAndre ay
who just became A laker this, Offseason Marcus smart who
just became A laker this, Offseason Adu theoro who was
drafted by The Los Angeles lakers in the second round
of THE Nba draft this Past.

Speaker 3 (01:22:42):
June, well of, COURSE i, MEAN i, mean why would
Every laker not be?

Speaker 1 (01:22:46):
There, well you can ask the chosen one That, jmart
because there was one Notable laker that was not. There
that was number twenty, Three Lebron. James who know there
was not a family? Emergency do you know there was
not a previous commitment of? Note according to His instagram,
feed he was just playing golf, Today Lebron. James so

(01:23:09):
what do you, make J mart Of Lebron james being
the only notable member of The Los Angeles lakers that
was not At Luka doncic's press conference On.

Speaker 3 (01:23:21):
SATURDAY i make of it That Lebron james wanted to
be noticeable by his. Invisibility he wanted people to take
note of the fact that he wasn't there and talk about.
THAT i told you when this happened this. Afternoon WHEN
i first saw the, news immediately was just, LIKE i,

(01:23:44):
mean we're going to have to talk about, this but
it's not particularly interesting That luca is going to stay At.
LAKER i assumed that he was going. To, yeah he
left a little bit of money on the, table BUT
i mean he's going to be able to recoup that
down the. Line he's betting on, Himself he's you, know
he's kind of recruited some people. There this was a
foregone conclusion in my. Estimation so it wasn't a particularly

(01:24:08):
like meaty topic except for the jilted ex lover that
still wants everything to be about, him and because it's.
Not we're seeing workout photos with The clippers logo in the,
background we're seeing weird, tweets we're SEEING i don't have

(01:24:30):
anything to talk about when we're At Summer. League we're
seeing all these various, things and now we're seeing this
very conspicuous, Absence and there is absolutely no doubt in
my mind that it was calculated to make sure that
there was a lot of evidence that his absence was
not for any particular. Reason that's why we found out

(01:24:51):
he was playing golf all. Day he made sure everyone saw,
that so it wasn't like because you, know you think
that it's, like, well you, know maybe there was a
death in the family or something serious that could have.
Happened you never know why he might not have made.
It he might have. Tried maybe this flight was the. Later,
no he's playing golf and he made sure everybody saw
that as. Well it is the epitome of, immature just

(01:25:16):
kind of ego, maniacal almost narcissistic behavior that you have
to be front and center all the. Time and the
page has turned with The lakers. Organization we read the
story to When Horse shelburne's. Story we've seen some of
the other things that have gone. On we Have medina
on a couple of weeks. Ago you, know he backed it.
Up medina will be With fratto after we're, done And

(01:25:37):
i'm Sure bernie will ask him about it and he'll
probably say similar things like This Lebron james. Thing dude
is unfortunately going to go out in a really just
a really negative, way like this is one of those
where it's just, like all, right, Now i'm ready for
him to go ahead and, Retire LIKE i love watching
him play, basketball But i'm just tired of. This AND
i feel LIKE i represent the vast majority of this

(01:25:59):
watching public where it's just, like, dude just just go
away and live your. Life go start your production, company
do all your, podcasts you, know be passive aggressive about
all the stars that came before you that you think
you're better, than and all these other like we can't
just enjoy you for the basketball player that you are
because you won't allow it. Anymore So i'd rather you

(01:26:19):
not play basketball. Anymore i'd rather you just go do
something THAT i can, Avoid like the league can't turn
the page until you exit stage. Left so at this,
Point i'm just waiting for that because this is such
a slap in the face in that organization that's been
over backwards to try and do everything that you, want
firing multiple, coaches bringing in your old podcast, coach drafting your,

(01:26:41):
son all these other kinds of. Things you can't be
there For luca's extension because it's better for your brand
for you not to. Be now we're talking about, you
but it's.

Speaker 2 (01:26:55):
Not, yeah it's just so SO i agree with everything you.

Speaker 1 (01:26:58):
Said is that one AND i really actually kind of
was thinking this during THE nba playoffs this year is
for all the criticisms of THE nba during the regular.
Season you, KNOW i remember watching those playoffs and you
know whether Obviously haliburton got, hurt but he had an incredible,
Playoffs Jalen, Bronson Anthony. Edwards it just it was, like
there's so many great, stories yet when the season, begins

(01:27:22):
everyone in our business can't help but default To lebron
and The. Lakers don't know what to talk, About lebron
and The. Lakers no lead, Topic lebron and The, lakers
you know. Whatever and you, KNOW i think it in
many ways has hurt THE, nba and you AND i
have talked about.

Speaker 10 (01:27:37):
That is that?

Speaker 2 (01:27:39):
Again you, KNOW i don't think AND i think it
was a great point that you brought. Up throughout the.

Speaker 1 (01:27:44):
Playoffs it's like people literally didn't know how to talk
about The Indiana pacers or The Oklahoma City thunder because
it was just it had never been a topic all regular.
Seasons So i'm ready for him to move. ON i
think the thing that stands out to me is living IN.
LA i think there's a lot Of. LAKERS i don't
even THINK i would say the, vast vast majority Of

(01:28:05):
lakers fans are ready to move? On tell you, what
why don't we bring? It Producer brandon, Here brandon is
a Diehard lakers. Fan, Dude i'll be, Honest like being around,
town it feels like it, run it's run its. Course
it feels like it never really was what it was
supposed to. BE i think Most lakers fans what? Percent

(01:28:26):
let me ask, you what percentage Of lakers fans would
you say are ready for The lebron era to be?
Over BECAUSE i think it is way bigger than people.
Perceive i'd say it's like in the eighty to ninety percent.
Range what do you say to? That, YEAH i mean
it's a great. QUESTION i think we first needed disassociate
the people that are fans Of Lebron james specifically totally

(01:28:48):
different who then bandwagoned, from you, know obviously throughout his
career each. Team now Are lakers fans because those would
obviously they want him to be, on they want they're
just fans Of, lebron, right so they're NOT i don't
know what they would do for Just laker fans that
Were laker fans Before lebron got TO, LA i would
say it's ninety.

Speaker 9 (01:29:06):
PERCENT i don't THINK i would. Be it's hard to
find fans that still want him on the. Team in,
fact my personal belief in this situation IS i would
prefer to just at this point trade him for. Anything
you can issue is no one wants, him which he'll
never say publicly like they. Won't oh, yeah That cleveland was.

(01:29:26):
Interested reports were for a mid level. Exception, Right they're
not going to pay you forty, Million. Lebron of course
you opted in to your player.

Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
Option.

Speaker 2 (01:29:34):
Right of course he did.

Speaker 9 (01:29:35):
Because no one else was gonna pay him forty million
dollars at age forty.

Speaker 2 (01:29:39):
One and, look he accomplished a lot with The. Lakers
BUT i would have traded.

Speaker 9 (01:29:43):
Him AND i think another point we need to bring
up Is Genie buss's involvement with this crazy because If
Mark walter was running the team like he would what
it is like The dodgers basically and his, people, Right
lebron would be gone. ALREADY i think With genie stain
over this next you, know period of five, years and,
Look i'm gonna Give Genie flowers for her treatment Of

(01:30:05):
Stars stars love her part Of luca's. EXTENSION i you, know,
PERSONALLY i believe was because he has a good relationship
With Jeanie. Buss but we also have to, remember If
Genie buss, was let's, say completely, gone not even the
Governor Mark walter would have Fired Rob. Polinka he would
have Hired Sam presty and given him a blank, check
And lebron would be running laps In cleveland right, now

(01:30:27):
getting ready for The caps, season and they would have
traded him For Jared.

Speaker 2 (01:30:29):
ALLEN i, mean it would have already been.

Speaker 9 (01:30:31):
DONE i think only because Of Genie buss's involvement is
Why lebron is still A. LAKER i would prefer just
to win thirty five or forty games and not Have
lebron on the team and start building the roster Around,
luca because there's no way they win a championship this.
Year this is a zero percent. Chances they don't play
enough defense, well and it.

Speaker 1 (01:30:49):
Just it speaks TO i think the thing that we
talked about earlier in the, Show, jason and for people
who missed, it go back now with the. PODCAST i
just think it sets up for a very interesting season
ahead because it's clear heat like he doesn't want to be,
there they don't want him, there but there is no

(01:31:09):
real market to move him or trade.

Speaker 2 (01:31:11):
HIM i just think it's gonna set up for a, very,
very very weird.

Speaker 1 (01:31:14):
Year here's the other THING i would say about this
too really, quick janmart we didn't talk about this in hour.
ONE i think from my, perspective if you're mad at the,
organization that's, fine and this speaks to what you said
earlier about him just being a. Narcissist but LIKE i
was explaining, this this whole situation with my wife earlier
today and she's, like do you think he doesn't Like?

Speaker 2 (01:31:34):
Luca AND i was, like, no it has nothing to
do With.

Speaker 1 (01:31:36):
Luca But luca is the default enemy Because luca is
what's standing in the way of him getting what he,
wants which is complete. Control and that's the part THAT i,
think to me is the most embarrassing. Part is if
you have issues with, ownership guess. What there's a lot
of athletes all over sports that have issues with, ownership

(01:31:58):
just Asking Michael. Parsons but this dude came, In this
dude didn't ask to be. Here this dude thought a
year ago he was retiring A dallas. Maverick but he came.

Speaker 2 (01:32:09):
In he once he got to la he said all
the right, things he did all the right.

Speaker 3 (01:32:13):
Things you.

Speaker 1 (01:32:14):
KNOW i think that he kind of deferred To lebron
throughout that, season AND i think, that to me is
the most disappointing. Thing you want to have issues with
the front, office that's. Fine, heck you want to post
your stupid social media in front of The clippers jersey
wearing The cleveland gear whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:32:30):
Practice, FACILITY i don't.

Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
Care but it is such an insult To Luka, doncic
who you now have to quote unquote go to war
with for eighty two games next. Year it's just such
an insult to him and guys that are supposed to
be his. Teammates it's just that's the frustrating part to.
Me if you want to be mad at ownership, management
you won't be the first, athlete you won't be the.

(01:32:52):
Last but to do that to a guy that's your
teammate that you're supposed to be in the trenches, WITH
i think that's the most frustrating part for.

Speaker 3 (01:32:59):
Me, Yeah so there's another part of the definition of
a narcissist THAT i think applies, here and that is
that one of the things that a narcissist cannot do
is recognize and admit, fault recognize and admit that they're
in the.

Speaker 2 (01:33:17):
Wrong it sound like my wife talking about me during a,
Fight but, anyway.

Speaker 3 (01:33:22):
That's not possible for a narcissists to. Do they always
see it from their own. PERSPECTIVE a lot of times
they are almost blind to how they come across by everyone.
ELSE i haven't always felt this way About, lebron but
just over this last few, years as you kind of
watch this whole thing play, out and then you can

(01:33:43):
kind of go back and see the breadcrumbs of this through,
Time here's how you build a, narcissist one really easy.
Way do you really think That lebron has people that
are giving him the straight truth about himself on a regular? Basis?
Nope has he, ever at least in his impressionable, years

(01:34:07):
has he ever not been? Surrounded BUT i, mean do
you really Think Maverick carter is Telling Lebron james when
he's wrong on a regular, basis correcting, him humbling, him
helping to disciple him to be a more mature. Person and, like,
well you, know that's what a friendship is supposed to.
Be just showed me my. Weaknesses i'm supposed to do

(01:34:28):
the same for.

Speaker 1 (01:34:28):
You you know HOW i know he hasn't because he's
gone through so many, Coaches like, seriously, like, like whatever
you think About Michael, jordan, Right Phil, Jackson, however, whatever
it was eight nine years, together and it's obvious That Phil, Jackson,
Yes Michael jordan is the main reason that they won those.
Championships but it was clear That phil pushed some buttons

(01:34:52):
that didn't always Make michael. Comfortable and so you go
through the history Of, lebron all the co all the
front office, people all the. Pressure the only one that
didn't back down from him was obviously Pat riley And Eric.
Spolster and there's a famous story of him going to
Pat riley and try to Get Eric spolster. Fired and

(01:35:13):
it was the first time and probably the only real
time up until right, now that somebody has told him.
No so to answer your, QUESTION i know for a
fact that nobody's really standing up to, him and that
nobody's really pushing, back because when they push, back they get.

Speaker 2 (01:35:27):
Removed see all of the coaches that have coached him
through the.

Speaker 3 (01:35:30):
YEARS i, mean, well another thing that would kind of
reflect narcissistic behavior would be every TIME i lose into,
PLAYOFFS i have a shadow injury THAT i revealed the next. Day,
yes stuff like, That LIKE i can't be, WRONG i
can't be, BEATEN i can't be number. Two championships don't
matter BECAUSE i don't have as many As. Michael but,

(01:35:50):
really we shouldn't be judging careers based on that. Anyway
we should be judging him based on longevity or some
nonsense like. That there's always you have to move the
goalpost to stay in, front because it's not okay for
you not to, be you, know front and center and all.
That and, again, yeah got to get to coach fired
we're not, winning it's got to be the coaches, fault
or it's got to be this PERSON i don't have
enough help or whatever it, is all those kinds of.

(01:36:12):
Things and the problem for a narcissist when the time
comes that they're no longer like they don't have to
be catered to, anymore is that you see what you've seen,
here which Is luca's the one at the, Dinner he's
the one Recruiting Marcus. Smart he's the one, saying let's
go ahead and bring In DeAndre, Ayton let's see what

(01:36:34):
we can do with. That and they're not Including lebron
in these conversations the same way that they used To
lebron and The. Lakers whatever the falling out, was whenever it,
started whatever it was, about all those kinds of, things
it had to center around the fact That lebron was
not getting his, way, period point, blank end of. Story

(01:36:55):
and now he's really not getting his way because the
team is not really focused around him him. Anymore AND
i don't think that he wants to play on a
team that he's not the focus of because he's never
had to in his entire. Career even When Dwayne wade
was getting a decent amount of press with The, heat
it was still all About Lebron. James everything In, cleveland
certainly About Lebron. James Anthony, Davis, yeah he could be

(01:37:18):
called street, clothes But lebron was going to be the
guy IN la at all. Times now we know for
a fact that The lakers Are Luka doncic's, team and
today or yesterday it became more apparent than ever with
this extension being, signed and the way that the franchise
is kind of embracing him and all, this and who's
not there the guy that's been number, one that's unwilling

(01:37:40):
to take a step back even though it's happened in
front of, him like he can't stop. It but he
ALSO i don't know that he's EVEN i don't know
that he is capable of understanding that the world has
moved past. Him and so this is why you're seeing
the passive aggressive. Stuff this is why you're seeing the,
Photos this is why you're seeing all this stuff that's

(01:38:01):
so irritating and. Annoying and it just feels like this
is like elementary, school middle. SCHOOL i know you, are
but what AM i kind of stuff From Lebron. James
it is beneath somebody of his caliber as an, athlete
as a leader in, community all the things that he
has done throughout his. Career this right here is, LIKE

(01:38:23):
i hope this is not a True. COLORS i hope
this is just you, know coming to grips with his
own basketball, mortality his own star mortality is AN nba basketball,
player and he doesn't even recognize he can go do
a whole lot of stuff after, basketball and people are
going to like him and people are gonna want to
be around, him assuming that he doesn't continue to shoot
himself in the.

Speaker 2 (01:38:42):
FOOT i want to just wrap on one.

Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
Thing brandon's a little bit more plugged into all the
nuance on a couple.

Speaker 2 (01:38:48):
Things there's.

Speaker 1 (01:38:50):
Conversation i've heard people, say, oh you, know he's not
gonna be A i Think Arnie spanier not.

Speaker 2 (01:38:55):
Surprising, oh he's not gonna be A laker come day.

Speaker 1 (01:38:57):
One there's no way with that contract that he can
on a different team really at any, point at least
to start the, season, Right, like there's no even if
there was a hypothetical team, interested there's really no way
to move him with.

Speaker 9 (01:39:10):
That contract the way that it, is, right one hundred
percent chance he's A laker at the start of the,
Season AND i think there's one hundred percent chance he's
A laker at the end of the.

Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
Season, YEAH i truly.

Speaker 9 (01:39:19):
Do, LIKE i think his best bet for him is, Like,
Okay i'm With Luka, dantrich best Player i've ever played
WITH i, know and he's mad still that he got
a first round exit with the best player he's ever played. With,
Right so that's another thing that's that's hurting his. Ego
And i'd agree With jason on. That SO i do
think he thinks, forty you know, whatever his, money all

(01:39:39):
the millions he's making forty to fifty with The lakers
is the best.

Speaker 3 (01:39:43):
Thing he can.

Speaker 9 (01:39:43):
Do With, Luca antrich And, austris he's got a good.
Team it's not like he's playing with a bunch of,
bums you, Know, No and and it just it brings
it full circle to what we talked about. Now one
is that it's just it's disappointing on so many. Levels
and To Jay mart's point that he just made a minute,
ago is that it's just it's sad that this is

(01:40:05):
how he's going out and that he's not going out
With grace and by the.

Speaker 1 (01:40:11):
Way again still a very good basketball, player, yes but
it is to exactly what you, said J, mart it
is beneath him to be acting in this manner at
this point in his, career at this.

Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
Age it's it's just a bad.

Speaker 1 (01:40:25):
Lookoverall SO i don't know if anybody has anything else
to add beyond, that but it's just it's just a
brutal look for a guy that should be aging. Gracefully
we should be celebrating him still playing at a high,
level soon to be forty one years, old and all
he's doing is kind of making an embarrassment of himself this.

Speaker 3 (01:40:41):

Speaker 9 (01:46:12):
YOU i.

Speaker 1 (01:46:13):
Am i'm just filling in on the odd couple with
A e From. SALAM i was gonna, SAY i don't
know if we'll get to. It Is Trey lance ready
to take Justin Herbert, spotter you worried at All charters
fans by Their.

Speaker 8 (01:46:24):
Trey lances and, no, okay, yeah all, Right well.

Speaker 2 (01:46:28):
That was the highlight of The hall Of fame.

Speaker 1 (01:46:30):
Game i'm sure we'll have more overreactions to uh to
THE nfl preseason next, week But thank you To.

Speaker 2 (01:46:36):
Sager we'll chat with you soon and J.

Speaker 1 (01:46:38):
Martin this is a topic THAT i find very, interesting
a story THAT i think everyone's seen by, now BUT, espn.

Speaker 3 (01:46:49):
Let's do.

Speaker 1 (01:46:49):
It, yeah, yes it could go to a lot of
different directions that that that warrants that. Sigh BUT i
bring it up because this week in interesting news media
WHERE espn has actually well it hasn't, merged BUT espn
has basically BOUGHT nfl, NETWORK nfl Red, zone all of. That, now,

(01:47:10):
Listen i'm not a, lawyer you, Know i'm not an
Economy it feels like some weird collusion slash monopoly on.
Things but what was your take ON espn now running
THE nfl, network which basically no longer.

Speaker 3 (01:47:27):
EXISTS i, mean, immediately if you run THE nfl, network
how critical are you going to be of? Them we've
already got that problem in the past with THE espn
being a little too, Buddy, buddy you already have a
ton of overexposed. Personalities what are you gonna do WITH
nfl networks? People are you gonna keep guys Like steve
Mary uchi and some of the guys that have been

(01:47:49):
on that network for a long, time or are we
going to have Dan orlowski on seventeen more, Shows Marcus
spears on fifteen more. Shows nothing against those, guys but
they're on everything and the one that to me just
kind OF i just, say just leave it, alone, man
please just leave it alone this Red. Zone don't get

(01:48:11):
rid Of Scott, hansen don't put don't have us go
To pat McAfee every ten minutes to find out what
he and Aj hawk think of what's happening in the.
Games Don't we don't need a manning cast for the Red.
Zone we don't need any of. This we don't need.
Analysis that's not what we're watching it. For we are
literally Watching Red zone to just enjoy what's happening in

(01:48:33):
all these games in the easiest, format to just see
all the scoring and see the most exciting things that are.
Happening so we're not stuck with what we have to
watch locally sometimes and things of that. Nature if we
don't Have sunday, TICKET i don't want to See STEPHEN.
A smith on YOUR nfl network. COVERAGE i don't want
to See STEPHEN. A smith on Red. Zone the definition

(01:48:55):
of overexposed like that's the, problem and this is, look
they could prove us all wrong if they just took
these properties and let them, alone, right like they don't
have to actually interfere in their. Businesses same thing with
inside THE. Nba it's interesting that they go after inside THE,
nba they, get you, know THE tnt, stuff and then
they turn around and do this exact same. Thing also

(01:49:15):
with THE. Nfl it's, like are you just taking the
stuff that does that does certain things that you can't,
Duplicate Like i'm not sure like not that YOUR nfl
coverage is terrible or, anything and THE nfl network's actual
coverage is, great BECAUSE i don't think that it. Is
but the idea of just like acquiring all these, assets

(01:49:36):
that's fine if you leave them alone like silo it
off to where it's, like, yeah we own them now or.
Whatever but like if you're trying to control their, content
that's where we have a huge problem BECAUSE i don't
think anybody benefits from that any other thing that we
are starting to. SEE i saw an estimate yesterday that
in order to watch all of THE nfl football, games
like if you were going through all the services to

(01:49:58):
have various games and all that other kind of, stuf
if it would cost you one thousand dollars throughout the
course of the season in order to see everything that
THE nfl. Has and that's just one. Sport, guys like
everybody listening out, there pay attention to. This sports are
being siloed. Off they're being put on all these various streaming.
Services it's going to get harder and. Harder the older,
crowd the you, know the senior, citizens and those the

(01:50:18):
folks that aren't as up on a lot of these streaming.
Services they're just not going to have access to a
lot of the things that maybe they have in the
past and things like. That but Red zone is a
thing they need to leave alone because it's already working
like there's no reason to change. It and again they
have the opportunity to do. That but are we really

(01:50:39):
comfortable and confident in thinking that they're not going to
put their hands in these places and try to fix
them or espnize them or disnetize, them as opposed to
just kind of leaving them. Be that's the whole idea
with inside THE. Nba if inside THE nba does not,
change if everything is still the, SAME i think everybody's

(01:51:00):
gonna be okay that it's you know on a different,
network but when we have that split screen and we're
staring At STEVEN. A smith that we know that that's
not going to be the way that that. Goes so
we have to see are they going to just let
these properties make money for them by not messing up
what's good or are they still going to have to
find a way to bring them into this ecosystem in

(01:51:22):
a bigger. Way AND i think that right there is the. Death.

Speaker 2 (01:51:26):
NOW i don't really have much to, add.

Speaker 1 (01:51:30):
AND i think the number the two themes THAT i
would kind of piggyback on is one just the cost
of being a sports fan.

Speaker 3 (01:51:38):
Now it is.

Speaker 2 (01:51:39):
Frustrating it is, tough and it's not to be. Fair
it's not just THE.

Speaker 1 (01:51:43):
Nfl, no you, know, yeah like college, football you, know
The Big ten has games On. Peacock if you don't Get,
peacock you. Screwed obviously that goes with THE nfl playoffs as.
WELL i thought it was interesting To saga brought up
the point last week about THE mls going To APPLE
tv all only and basically having been forgotten about since.

Speaker 2 (01:52:02):
Then so it sucks for.

Speaker 1 (01:52:05):
Fans AND i think the only other thing THAT i
would add is exactly what you, said which is just
don't screw with red.

Speaker 2 (01:52:13):
Zone just Leave Chris. Hansen And i've.

Speaker 1 (01:52:15):
Seen Chris hansen saycot Hands Chris hansen is to Catch chris. Else,
yeah okay, whatever listen if you're if you're gonna Replace Scott,
hansen bring In Chris. Hansen, okay, uh but, yeah red
zone is like like inside THE, nba perfect the way
that it. Is it's it's a it's an iconic property

(01:52:36):
as it. Is don't screw it. Up but this is Just, yeah,
Lastly i'll just say this IS i don't think it's
a win for sports fans, because as you, said it's
MORE espn it it what's the right, word it not.

Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
Minimal one problem is there the lack of competition means
they don't have to innovate it. Anymore they don't have
to change and it was as much. Anymore that's THE i,
Mean and that's the monopoly side of this and the
anti trust stuff that you. Know i'm not saying that
that's what this, is but that's the biggest problem with a.
Monopoly not only can you, charge they want everybody to
go to THE espn plus right like they don't care
if you cancel your, cable if you're paying them thirty

(01:53:14):
bucks a month just for THE espn content that they're
gonna split off From Disney, plus and it's gonna you,
know they're they're they're going to find a way to
get more money out of, you even though if you've had,
cable you understand that your, rights fees and the money
that you are paying, monthly a ton of it goes TO,
espn whether or not you watch sports or.

Speaker 2 (01:53:32):
Not, yeah don't really have much else to add other
than to, say, yeah just don't.

Speaker 3 (01:53:39):
Just don't screw with the red zone. Alone don't screw
with red.

Speaker 1 (01:53:43):

(01:54:46):
just Search Fox Sports radio wherever you get your, podcasts
and you'll see today's show posted right after we get off.
Air jmar couple topics to get us out of. Here,
FIRST a serious topic that is sad but sort of
has a happy. ENDING i just want to take half
a minute and just acknowledge the news About Dion sanders this. Week,

(01:55:08):
yeah you, know And i'll say this really. QUICK i
was probably one of the few, people so you, know
being the college football guy THAT i. Am you, know
you hear there's A monday press. Conference you know there's
been health. Issues Now i'll be. Transparent you know he
was At big twelve media day a few weeks. Ago
SO i was just not ready for WHAT i heard

(01:55:30):
in the. Freight SO i watched it live BECAUSE i
happen to be around and in front of a phone,
whatever AND i just wasn't ready for the, first you,
know five minutes where they basically explained all of the
serious issues that he dealt with bladder, cancer had to
have his bladder. Removed thankfully the cancer is completely.

Speaker 2 (01:55:48):
Gone and so two.

Speaker 1 (01:55:50):
Things one it was surreal to, hear but THEN i
just Thought dion handled it from there about as well
as you, could you, know telling, men, women, young, old
make sure you're getting.

Speaker 2 (01:56:01):
Tested you.

Speaker 1 (01:56:02):
Know the inspiration that he, showed the line that stuck
stuck out to. Me one of the reporters asked him
about staring death in the. Eye he, SAID i didn't
stare death in the. EYE i stared life in the.
EYE i just thought it was an incredible you, know
probably hour of. Whatever AND i know most people probably

(01:56:23):
only saw little clips or read articles or, whatever BUT
i just think this guy is such an. Inspiration AND
i just think for all of the criticism that he's
gotten over the last couple of years because he's loud
or he's this or he's.

Speaker 2 (01:56:36):
THAT i love the message AND i love the message
that he delivered On.

Speaker 3 (01:56:40):
Monday, yeah he used his platform and just his stardom
for something just very not just, important but something that
will resonate not just within his own like in The colorado,
community but everybody can relate to. This everyone has their

(01:57:02):
own story regarding, this whether it's personal or whether it's
somebody in their family or somebody close to. Them it's
touched almost all of. Us and so you know the
criticism That dion has. Gotten he's a blustery. Guy he's out.
There that's one of the reasons why he's Deon. Sanders
he's always been that. Way you're going to get the
good and you're going to get some things that might
rub you the wrong, way and you, know all that

(01:57:24):
kind of. Stuff but in, this it was just, this
there was just this like very human vulnerability to what
he was. Doing it's like you still knew you were
listening To Dion, sanders and he knew that you were
listening To Dion, sanders but so much of it was
not about. Him it was about something larger and it

(01:57:44):
JUST i didn't see at. ALL i WISH i, had
but it just gave us all the right kind Of
it's almost like it's undercutting it to say, vibes but
it just it gave off this very you, said. INSPIRATIONAL
i think that's probably a good way to put. It
just you now want to root for, him but you
also just you love the, message, uh and what was

(01:58:06):
going on there was just a it was just a
positive for all. Involved and then you read the stories
about what it was like for the you, know the
people around the program to see him back and seeing
him on the sidelines doing his thing at camp and all,
This like now you're now you're more invested In colorado
in a completely different. Way it's not what's going to happen.
Here it's almost, like, man after this dude came back from,

(01:58:28):
THIS i want to see them win this. YEAR i think.
THAT i think that's there's just a. Lot there's a
lot to, it and it's all it's all, positive just
that he went through this and he was willing to
talk about it in such a raw way where he
wasn't trying to talk about What Tian sanders wasn't going
down to This like, no it wasn't that at. All

(01:58:50):
there was there was a humanity behind it that revealed
a bit of humility even behind the sunglasses and all,
that where you just recognize again That Dion sanders is
a he's a spiritual, person he's a religious. Person there's
faith in his, life but there's also just there's there's
a reason why he's been able to be as magnetic

(01:59:11):
as he's been for such a long period of. Time
and you saw maybe the best example of all time
of that this.

Speaker 2 (01:59:17):
Week, yeah last little thought On.

Speaker 1 (01:59:19):
DION i think we can officially put to rest the
notion that he was only, coaching uh to get his
sons Through. Colorado don't think there's a better example of
anyone who clearly wants to be coaching college, football uh
than the guy who came back from cancer a couple
of weeks later after. All, yeah, yeah, YEAH i think

(01:59:40):
anybody who had that, thought, uh probably we can put
that one to.

Speaker 3 (01:59:44):
Bed.

Speaker 1 (01:59:44):
Uh tell you, What, jamark we don't really have that
much more, time you. Know we we've covered a lot
of ground for people who again have missed the missed
any of the show can always go back and download the.
Podcast but we talked a lot Of Luka doncic today
he signs his, Extra lebron doesn't show. UP i think
j mart you AND i both felt like not the

(02:00:05):
best look For lebron as he is not aging very.
Gracefully we've talked about speaking about aging. Gracefully Jerry jones
and The Dallas cowboys With Michael parsons and and, yeah
covered a lot of.

Speaker 2 (02:00:16):
Ground busy.

Speaker 1 (02:00:17):
Show dissager's had all sorts of good information throughout the,
show but we got to get out of. HERE i
