Welcome to Fox Sports Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here with
Carmen Vitally. Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon with
Carmi and me. Happy Olympics. It has officially begun. USA
got on the board early this morning with Sarah Bacon
and Cassidy Cook winning silver in the women's synchronize three

(00:26):
meters springboard, which is diving. Did you watch any of
this A little bit?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
A little bit but not. I will look at the
highlights of the diving. It's it never ceases to amaze me.
It's the amount of times I was scared because I
used to like as a kid, to flip off the
diving board stuff. But the like miscar cracking my head on.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
I would I would like go to the edge and
be like I'm gonna die. I'm for sure gonna.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
Die if but when it came it flips, I was
always terrified that I was gonna like crack my head
on the diving board or the platform or whatever it
was here.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
I was a sacredized swimmer growing up. Did you know that?

Speaker 2 (00:59):
No, Okay, they dance. It makes sense because you were
a dancer, so like that was.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Your water sport, That was my water sport five minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Conditioning does not surprised me, dude. Can we just take
a moment for opening ceremonies yesterday to starting with my
favorite moment. Celene Dion's returned to the stage for the
first time since December twenty twenty two, and her performance
had me in tears, chills, tears.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Is there any way, is there anyone like in the
music space or iconic or iconic or universally beloved like
everybody would ride.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Her voice is one of one.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
It was very much.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
It's like a Whitney Houston style voice.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Like they're in their own category of just iconic singers.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Yeah, we're never going to see another like.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
No, I mean Adele got pretty close there for a bit,
like in terms of that voice, but it's it's Whitney Selene.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
I think are in a category when you think.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Of like the songs that like defined are like my
childhood lea, yes, like nineties whatever, like even and obviously
before that, Yeah, just.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
The tic.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
So I think we used to Whitney used on I
think are in their own category absolutely.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
I mean the amount of times I put on the
touch tunes like a Selenian song.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
I rotate, I rotate which ones?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
I was like, we were talking about the jukeboxes in
the bars are now touch tunes.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
I was like, in the bar and I'm in the bar.
You absolutely should know that it's me.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
It was me. I mean that was iconic.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
The image of Team USA on the boat and Lebron
the history like on the boat, like the internet like
did not fail us yesterday with Team USA, like everyone say,
I'm just gonna tell everyone Lebron was president like it was,
it was.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
It was iconic.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Also, Snoop Dogg being absolutely everywhere carrying the torch. We
have all the Olympic Games on right now. He's already
popped on our screen twice.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
He's a part of the the test of time.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Him and Shack have figured out how to just be
in every single commercial, involved in every major event.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Like hands down to both of them.

Speaker 6 (03:11):
You know who's been a surprise edition? Who I found
out after I just subscribed to peacock to watch some Olympics. Okay,
they have something called gold Zone. Yeah, Scott Hansen's here, baby,
Oh wow know.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, yeah, fantastic. There's a whole group of there's four.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yeah, yes, they have like old school red Zone, new
school red Zone.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Red Zone has been training Scott Hanson for this for
like his entire life here.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
No, it's like, why wouldn't you have a red Zone
style show for the other simultaneously.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
The only way to watch Sunday.

Speaker 6 (03:42):
I've got down the streaming TV here in the studio

who you just heard us.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Giving us the inside scoop on how to watch the Olympics.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Our Olympic expert.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Olympics.

Speaker 6 (05:14):
I've been to two in my life, and if COVID
hadn't happened, I would have gone to Tokyo as well.
And my dad and I are already making plans for
both La and Brisbane.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
Well, I mean La, yeah, that's easy here.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Brisbane's ear like easy for twenty two because there's a
direct plight, right.

Speaker 6 (05:31):
It's also a bit of a reunion with him because
one of those Olympics I've been to in my life
was Sydney and that was such a formative moment for me.
The other was Atlanta. I was a little young for that,
but like, okay, Sydney was so important to me. Like
Brisbane kind of represents us going back and kind of
recollecting on that.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
So that's great. What's our Olympic medal count up to
right now? For you to We'll say five. They just
got their first gold medal, as you heard.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
From the update with yeah and yeah Brian family at
the news desk, Guy, where's it rank?

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Guys?

Speaker 6 (05:59):
What do you mean?

Speaker 5 (05:59):
We're like third right now Australia.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
Australia is kicking ass.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Okay, did you seek the way today? Knowing what in
what they were upset by France.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Fiji is like the number one rugby seven team in
the world apparently, okay, and they got upset by France
the host country.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Dang for the gold medal. Dang, oh wait you guys.
Beach volleyball on right now, USA against Canada. This is
the most epic backdrop of the Olympics. The beach volleyball
court is with the Eiffel Tower in the background, and
it is.

Speaker 6 (06:32):
Just really they actually have this in Paris. I thought this, yeah,
because that's where they're holding the surfing is in Tahiti.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
No, no, they made a court right out. I don't
know if you can see the shot right now there
it is the Apple Tower.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
It is Yeah, it is insane.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Did they just build all of the venues.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
All around the Eiffel Tower as they should? Like, I mean,
Paris is so I guess you just they.

Speaker 6 (06:55):
Had like a statue of a soldier on a horse
in the I was watching judo. I love judo and
table tennis's table tennis. It's like it's insane. But like
I've always.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Think I'm good at like I call ping pong, but
it's table tennis.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
I but they had a statue in the middle of
this judo hall, just like a soldier on a horse.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
You just see it overlooking the judo.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
This is all so magical, like the Olympics are such
like a cool time when we can all all come
together as the world country, as like the world comes
together everything. There's just something so magical watching the best
of the best dreams come true, knowing this is all
they've been focusing on for the last four.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
You, well, we finally have something like that. The entire
country is getting behind.

Speaker 6 (07:36):
Yes, it's such a fun culture exchange to go to
these things too, Like my dad introduced me to collecting
and trading pins with people. I got one from nineteen
eighty from the Moscow Olympics. It's so cool. It's so
cool to go to these things and see what people
get excited for.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Oh yeah, okay, let's transition though to the NFL. We're
gonna get We're gonna be talking Olympics all day here.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
But show me the money, baby.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
We've been waiting for three quarterbacks to get paid. Dack Toua,
Jordan Love, and both Tua and Jordan Love got paid yesterday.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
But it is Jordan Love, you guys, who.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Came out on top with a four year, two hundred
and twenty million dollar contract, tied for the highest paid
player in NFL history fifty five million dollars a year,
tied with Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow. But it's the
record breaking seventy five million dollar signing bonus money. And
with this deal, you guys, the Packers have now found

(08:33):
their third franchise quarterback in a row.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
This is unheard of.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Either they are quarterback geniuses or they just keep getting lucky.
And Carmen, I got to hand it to you because
you called this on Speak yesterday, hours before the news drop.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
But this is what was going to.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Happen, and this is this is deserved, even if you
think it's a small sample size.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
I had a story pre written, in fact.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
So hard. I was like, how did you get that
out so fast? How did you get this.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Ready to go? I knew it was coming.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
I had like I thought that it was going to
be this week, and I mean at the eleventh hour
it got done.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
As these I mean, these contracts take time.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Yeah, making a guy the highest paid NFL player in
history is going.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
To do that.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
But I talk a lot about what the Packers process
is and how unique it is to the Green Bay Packers.
In particular, green Bay Packers, you don't know, do not
have an owner, so they have they are owned by
the fans, their own. I mean I have friends that
have that are owners of the green Bay Packers because

(09:40):
they have shares in the team. So they are run
by the team president, who works in conjunction with the
general manager and the head coach. So it's all a
very seamless process. But you don't get this very unique
pressure that often comes from ownership groups or owners of
these teams in Green Bay. So that allows you to
take a quarterback in the first round, yeah, and then

(10:03):
sit him for three years. That does not work anywhere else.
I cannot stress this enough. Green Bay's process is incredible.
I have detailed it all season long, or the last
two years really yeah, but especially this year with Jordan
Love starting. I have detailed it on Fox sports dot com.
What this process is. How there are things team building

(10:23):
things that stem from Vince Lombardi when he was the coach. Yeah,
and you know the god in green Bay. That does
not work for anyone else. So Green Bay is not lucky.
This process works, but it is not realistic. It is
not a blueprint for the rest of the league.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Jordan Love in.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Particular, everybody is talking about the small sample size, as
you just alluded to, Alix. Yeah, yes, publicly, we have
seen one year of Jordan Love.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
The green Bay.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Packers as an organization have seen four years of Jordan Love.
And I was on Speak yesterday with James Jones talking
about how they knew while Brett Favre was still the starter,
they could see that Aaron Rodgers was a dude in
practice before he ever got a chance to step on
the field. Similar sentiments have been said about Jordan Love

(11:12):
not to mention. Being a quarterback, especially a franchise quarterback
in this league, entails more than what you are doing
on the field.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Are you a leader? Does the locker room respond to you?
Are you?

Speaker 3 (11:25):
You're investing in as much in the man as you
are in the player, and they have had three years
of getting to know the man. So Green Bay was
not only paying Jordan Love based on this last year.
They were paying them based on the last four years
plus what they think he can do in the future.
It's also betting on their own process. They are betting

(11:48):
that they were right. All they needed last year was
confirmation that Jordan Love was who they thought he was,
and he did that. He took the youngest team in
the league to the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.
He brought along and elevated all first and second year
receivers on the offense. What else do you need from
your franchise player.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
That's all Green Bay needed to see.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
They're like, great, we've got our third straight franchise quarterback.
Here's fifty five million dollars a year, Jordan, We'll give
you seventy five million up front. You took a team
friendly deal the you know this last but instead of
taking the fifth year option, they gave him a two
year extension.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
Took the team friendly deal. Bet on yourself, here you.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Go, which is great.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
I mean, his last ten starts is what earned him
his contract. He went seven to three, right, he had
the highest passer rating during those ten games, one hundred
and twelve point one passer rating. He got them to
the postseason, had that huge blowout win against Dallas, and
games like that get you a contract or lose you
a contract, as we've seen with Mike McCarthy. And we
heard Jerry Jones say why didn't he get a new contract,

(12:46):
and he just said, green Bay, these are the big
moments on the biggest stage, whether you are an established
coach or in your first full season as a starting quarterback.
That will determine what your next contract looks like. And
Jordan Love took advantage of every opportunity. He was drafted

(13:07):
in twenty twenty, as you mentioned, sat behind Rogers for
three years, so they knew this was their guy in
this They just needed to see it in action and
see if it translated to in game during the season,
full season into the postseason, and as any rookie not

(13:27):
really a rookie, but first time starting quarterback would do.
There were some struggles in the start of the season,
but it's the last ten games, seven and three blowout
win in the postseason over the Cowboys that earned him
to be tied as a highest paid player in NFL history.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
I think we're taking for granted though that Jordan Love
wasn't that bad to start out with. It was the
fact that like that game against Atlanta that they dropped
in Week two, Yeah, Jordan Love had the team up
in double had a double digit lead going into the
fourth quarter of the defense collapsed.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Yeah, the receips.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
The amount of drops that he was going through with
his receivers because they were also either rookies or second
year players. Matt Laflor did not trust him to open
up the playbook yet because not everybody was on the
same page. Yeah, that wasn't Jordan Love's fault. You still
saw him make those reads, you still saw him surveying
the field, you still saw him lost to the Vikings.
Was because Brian Flores is throwing insane these insane e At.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
The end of the day, you're going to look at like,
what what was a score? What were the stats? And
he didn't he didn't have the results. So even if
it wasn't bad, he wasn't getting the results.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Taking stock of that the whole time, and we should
all be taking stock of even the intangibles where you
can see him and you can understand why he struggled
and that he didn't continue to struggle, so which is
got you to see and then you saw the upward trajectory,
and so that when his receivers got a little bit
more experience, then Matt Laflor was able to open up

(14:55):
the playbook. Then you saw the Green Bay offense what
it was actually supposed to by the end of the season,
and then you took that momentum and not only did
you make the playoffs, but you beat the breaks off
of the Dallas Cowboys in their building, which they hadn't
lost in in like sixteen games.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Which I love that The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders documentary showed
that beat down at the end of the season and
you just saw the like absolute defeat. That press shock
was shot from every single Cowboy.

Speaker 7 (15:29):
Fan.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
The part at that game was silent, silent, you could
hear a pin drop and usually the Dallas media you're
not supposed to cheer in the press box.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
Huh oh.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
I learned the hard way my first my first year
covering the Angels, I cheered after like a like a
home run.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Everybody turned to me.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
I was like, what would I do? They're like, sto,
you're not allowed to cheer in the press box. I
was like, will someone make me a handbook so I
know these things and don't get in trouble for doing them.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
No, okay, I'm just gonna rules.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
In the press box.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Usually that NFL press boxes, there's which is like no cheering,
and they, honestly, every PA announcer I've been in in
press boxes always reminds you remember there's no cheering.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Good good.

Speaker 8 (16:22):
Well.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
To wrap this all up on, Jordan Love, this is
your Franchise Guide, this is the best deal you were.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
Going to get.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
He wasn't going with Jordan Love because as we've seen
each year, in each contract, the market price keeps rising.
So congratulations to Jordan Love and the Packers. Gosh, your
third franchise quarterback in a row.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
Unheard of hot. Yes, they can't believe that it happened to.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
I mean, now, even more pressure is gonna be on
Caleb Williams, which well.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
Eleven right now, so that's gonna be absolutely bear.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
In Soldier field. Tayler Williams first division.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Game, insane.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
All Right, We're gonna take a quick break here, but
when we come back, you guys already have our first
Olympics scandal.

Speaker 1 (17:07):
We'll dive into it.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Next.

Welcome back to Fox Sports Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from Attara dot
com Studios in Los Angeles.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Can we just play the rest of that out, like
y'all want me to hear us talk?

Speaker 2 (18:37):
We can just know we were talking off the top
of the show. Our like most iconic moment from opening
ceremonies with celem Beyond making her comeback, first performance since
December twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Two, and it had me in tears. She's singing right
now you're listening live.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
She's gonna like reinstate her residency.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
I don't know if she can because of her stiff
person syndrome.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
I know, but she's been like working like I haven't
watched I want to.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Do it, but like watch a docuven do like an.

Speaker 3 (19:06):
Adel thing where she does like one or two shows
a weekends. I mean, anything, anything, anything.

Speaker 2 (19:12):
I mean this was like this was this was the
first big step to get her back in the mix.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
I need it, but man, I need it.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
I think that could fix me. I think concert fit
every everybody.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
Selene, please, but like, okay, Beyond, like Selene obviously we
were talking about like Lebron iconic, like the history carrying
the American flag on the boat was just iconic. But
I gotta give a shout out to the Olympic athletes
on social media. They are absolutely slaying right now. Get

(19:46):
to know your US athletes. It makes it more fun
to follow and watch. Hot topic this week if you
haven't been following, was athletes village. Beds are made out
of cardboard. Okay, but get cardboard. But and the beds mattresses.
They also got Olympic theme condoms in their welcome bags.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Like this is all related.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Because so in Tokyo they made the beds pretty rickety.
So they because they wanted to discourage people from looking out. Yeah,
these beds, it's doing them a disservice to call them
cardboard because they're actually pretty sturdy.

Speaker 8 (20:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
And these mattresses are like each athlete gets like a
body scam huh, and then they are given the mattress
depending on how like firm, what they whatever. They mean, Like,
they're actually pretty high tech. I can't and they can
withstand a movement.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Yep, yep. Let me tell you.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Athletes village is a time I stayed in athletes' village
when I was covering the World University.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Games in China.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
In twenty eleven, which is like the college Olympics, and
there's there's actually a couple of water polo girls that
I covered in the World University Games that are now
in the Olympics.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
It's just it is a.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Crazy like imagine like college dorms, but like next level,
like with all your friends sleepover wild.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Yeah, like people you are up.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
To, you're excited to be around. It's a it's a
magical time. Yeah, it's a it's a really magical time. Okay,
it's a little more than magic's yeah, definitely. Okay, you guys,
we have our first scandal already, fun kind spy gay
for team Canada's women's soccer well they're women's that got caught.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
So Team Canada was looking to defend their gold medal in.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Paris, but got caught in a drone scandal after spying
on New Zealand's training sessions before their opening Olympic Games,
which Canada ended up winning two one, and the Canadian
Olympic Committee removed the head coach, saying she likely knew
of the drone situation. But the big singer here is
the reports indicate that the drone huge were pre Paris Olympics,

(21:48):
sourcing all the way back to the Tokyo Olympics.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
Oh they apparently.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
The reporting that's coming out now by like the Canadian
News is that both the men's and the women's team
have been doing this for years.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
The Tokyo Olympics. That's a big deal. This puts all
of their past success into question. The winds are now tainted.
Also like shocking for Canada.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
This is very brand.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
You had us fooled, You had us all fooled as nice,
like we need to.

Speaker 4 (22:18):
Wake up to the Canadians and they are sneaky.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
What is Team Canada soccer was astros of.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
I don't know the big competition.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
I think if did they beat the US big moment,
I feel like they would have to like thank you bo.
I feel like they would have had to like knock
you us out to get that kind of like that's true.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
But they have success. Like I just don't know, I
don't know, I know, but this is a shame on
us for for underestimating these Canadians.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
I just there's just as sneaky as the rest of us.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
But honestly, everybody wants to get away from it, get
away with it because no one suspected it.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Everybody's cheating. You're not cheating, you're not trying. Yeah, it's
just that they were. They were silly enough to get caught.
I don't I don't want to call a nation dumb. No,
they were fine. Two hundred thousand dollars, two hundred thousand
Canadian dollars.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
What's that in US?

Speaker 4 (23:12):
I don't know. I think the Canadian more less. I
think it's less.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Okay, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
I think it's less US because I think there's more US.

Speaker 6 (23:20):
Current exchange rate is about one Canadian dollar iSER point
seventy two US team.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Okay, but still it's just they're tainted. Wins are tainted.
Do better, Canada.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
We expected, we expected, We expected you to be nice,
We expected you to be the good ones.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Okay, we are the mess down here.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
You were supposed to have it whatever. Like I said,
you know, and it is cheating.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Who knows everybody's cheating? All right now, let's check out
with Brian Finlan and see what's trending.

Speaker 10 (23:46):
Yes, speaking of Canada, they'res and men's basketball right now,
and I don't know how much cheating is going on there.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
You know, you game and you can scout Us.

Speaker 5 (23:56):
That is true.

Speaker 10 (23:57):
Well, and there's a ton of NBA guys in this game. Yeah,
Yannis for Greece, he's got twenty five points. But the
problem is is that nobody else but him is really
doing anything.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
I mean, but that's a week can expect.

Speaker 10 (24:09):
That is there is a former NBA guy, Nick Kolathis.
I remember him many years ago. He's he's a starter
and he has three points. But yeah, it's it's all Yannis,
although they're gonna need more than just him because Canada
is up sixty four to fifty eight. This is Group
A stage Olympics Men's basketball. Everybody's favorite player Dylan Brooks,
and that might be sarcastic. Fourteen points for Canada. Shake

(24:33):
Gilles Alexander has fourteen as well, and there's about a
minute and a half or so to go in the
third quarter.

Speaker 5 (24:40):
Team he will say, men's basketball.

Speaker 10 (24:41):
They start up their action on Sunday tomorrow again Serbia,
and there's a chance we might not see Joelle Embiid
or Anthony Davis because of injuries or not excuse me
from illnesses. So there's a chance that we might not
see them. That according to Steve Kerr, against that I
don't know, or.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
Is this Steve Kurth way of like getting Joe.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Getting launched, so a public excuse public for like maybe
making sure everybody's egos are still okay.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
Right exactly, like oh, like if you're not feeling well, man,
don't don't don't sorry, we don't.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
Use you right now the bench.

Speaker 10 (25:23):
Is he really the head coach or should his title
just be ego manager?

Speaker 1 (25:26):
Yes? Yes, isn't that what that's what a head coach
is at the pro level?

Speaker 5 (25:30):
Yes, I will say.

Speaker 10 (25:32):
And when you look at in summation whatever what all
is going on with the medal count. Australia has the
lead well in terms of the gold medals, they've got three,
so totals, it's a tie between Australia and the United
States both have five. The Americans, as we're talking about
how their first gold it came about a half an

(25:52):
hour or so ago and it was in the men's
four by one hundred freestyle relay. Katie Lideci picked up
a bronze in the four hundred meter freestyle. The American
woman or watching table tennis, so zoned.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
In on table tennis right now. I just looked up
and I was.

Speaker 3 (26:12):
Like, oh my god, the an ability and like the
way that you have to react and it's a split second.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
There's not a lot of rooms.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
It's so fast like rivals, like F one drivers.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
How close they.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
Are react, It's wild.

Speaker 5 (26:27):
Whoa, it is wild.

Speaker 10 (26:29):
Also, I might be the first one on FSR here
to give an equestrian update. So the first round of
eventing Great Britain is the first day of the first ranking.
They're in first place, so keep an eye on them.
And if I is that a shocking thing? Though, I
feel like I absolutely like equate a.

Speaker 5 (26:46):
Question as well.

Speaker 10 (26:48):
Yeah, I think it's they have to be one of
the favorites, right, Yeah. Now the question is how do
you gamble on equestrian That's I don't know how many people.
I'm sure there are people out there that very carefullyfully.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
It is just coming from experience.

Speaker 10 (27:02):
No, and I'll leave you, Yes, I'll leave you with this.
Two more Team USA. We got men's volleyball the Americans
with the sweep against Argentina.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
And then earlier.

Speaker 10 (27:15):
Team USA men's soccer winning four to one against New Zealand.
We go Carmen and alex It was a absolute domination.
Three goals for the Americans in the first half and
then another one and they absolutely just kicked them to
the curb.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Love that they need, that the men's soccer team, US
soccer team needs all the positivity.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
In their life right now.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
What went down at Copah. Thank you so much, Brian.
You're listening to Fox Sports Saturday. I'm Alex Courrie here
with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from the tire
dot Com studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending
your Olympics Saturday afternoon with Carme and me will continue
to keep you updated. We have basketball, volleyball, table tennis,
everything going on on every screen right now, and we'll

(28:01):
keep you updated. But we're gonna switch gears and talk
uh some Cowboys because uh.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
I always find a way into the conversation. Don't think
they're gonna hot.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Mess right now, And if you're a Cowboys fan, I
might start to worry. They have a lot of big
question marks. Right off the top of the show, we
talked about contracts. Dak is the only one left, oh
those three guys that we've been kind of waiting to see,
is he gonna get a contract? And if they don't
sign Dak before the season starts. I think everybody's got

(28:34):
feeling is he's gonna leave in test free agency. They
also have Ceedee Lamb who is holding out right now.
He wants to be paid like a top receiver. And
then obviously the Micah Parsons is gonna be a domino effect.
And oh don't forget Mike McCarthy is also playing for
his job this season.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
And we have heard from everyone in.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Camp this week, and honestly, this is why I say,
as a Cowboys fan, I would be a little worried.
Let's start with Dak Okay, because let's be clear, he
has all the leverage right now. He's coming off his
best season. Yet he finished second in MVP voting. He
had the most passing touchdowns, second in passer rating, third

(29:11):
in passing yards. And in case anybody needs reminding, quarterbacks
are the most important position on the field on these
million billion dollar franchises, and at some point you're going
to have to pay your guy.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
And Dak had a very telling quote at camp this week.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
Talking about the path of other big quarterbacks and quarterbacks
he's looked up to in this league.

Speaker 11 (29:38):
At the end of the day, it's a business, and
I want to be here. But you know, and you
look up all the great quarterbacks I watch played for
other teams. So my point in saying that is that
that's not something to fear. That may be a reality
for me one day may not be my decisions.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
And that last line, it may not be my decision.
I think he plays a season out and he tells That's.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
That said hyperbolically because it is Dak Prescott's decision. Because
he there is a no tag and no trade clause
in his contract with the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
This is solely his decision.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
The Cowboys can offer Dak Prescott a contract and he
is absolutely free to say, nah, I'm gonna wait. I'm
gonna wait til free agency because I want a bidding war.
I want to be able to choose. I want autonomy
over where I go, based on situation, based on money,
based on all that.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Cowboys can be part of that.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
Yere great, cool, But you're out now You're gonna go
up against everybody else because I hold all the leverage.

Speaker 4 (30:34):
Yea, And you have not done enough to keep me happy.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
No, yeah, no, they have not.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
Here's the thing, Dak CD and Michael all coming up
for a new contract at the same time is a
monster of the Dallas Cowboys own making. Yes, you could
have absolutely either given DAK an extension last year, could
have given cd an extension last year. You did not
have to do this this way. So if I'm DAK,

(31:00):
I'm looking at all of this dysfunction. Also, the Cowboys
are gigantic brand.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
Yeah, they are the richest franchise in sports. You're not
fooling anybody. You can afford this, you can figure it out,
you can pay it.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
That is not I feel like that goes without saying
and Stephen Jones getting up there and saying, oh, well,
we're not like the Vikings who aren't paying anybody.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
I'm sorry. The Vikings are the third most dead cap
this year.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
They also like their left tackle Kirk Cousins every single time.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
Yeah, and they just paid their left tack Like we're
just counting right now. The Vikings are entering twenty twenty
four with the like third most dead cap. They just
paid their left tackle a lot of money. Top three
money you have Justin Jefferson paid at thirty five million
dollars a year, the highest paid nine in the market.
So don't come to me and tell me that you
can't pay all these guys.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
All I'm hearing are excuses from the Cowboys right now.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
And the thing about it is Dak has taken an
inortimate amount of the blame for the Cowboys postseason woes
when we were having the same conversations about Tony Romo
before Dak. So if there are the same issues, there
is a common denominator here that is not Dak Prescott.
And if I'm Dak, I'm like, you know what, I

(32:10):
am done putting up with all of the blame. I
am done taking all of the blame, and I am
done not getting the credit for when I do, for
what I do for this organization. Yeah, I want out.
I want out of this scrutiny. I want to go
somewhere that appreciates me. I want to go somewhere that
is going to arm me with some actual options when
it comes to my skill players.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
Because we talked about this either last.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Week or two weeks ago, Ceedee, lamb is the only
weapon they have on that offense, and a defense is
scared of I know they got Jake Ferguson, Please, this
is not Jake Ferguson a raser. I like Jake Ferguson
a lot as a tight end. That is not enough
to challenge a defense. You can double CD all day
and not be scared if you are an opposing defense.
If I'm Dak Prescott, I'm like, I can will you

(32:55):
during the prese or during the regular season to a
twelve and five record? Yeah, once the postseason hits and
everybody is elite, that is not enough and that is
why we are struggling. Sure he has a share in that,
but it is not all Dak Prescott, and I think
he's tired of having it all put on him.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
But also, as you mentioned, like this is an issue
that the Cowboys and Jerry Jones like they made their bed.
Everybody knew CD was looking to be one of the
highest paid. He said, I want to be the highest
paid nine. I want to be the highest paid non quarterback.
And Cowboys had a chance to make this happen, and
back in April, Jerry Jones says, we'd like to see

(33:35):
where the leaves fall. We'd like to see more action.
It's called option quarterback. I've spent my life playing option quarterback.
I want to see more cards fall. Well, Jerry, this
came back to slappy in the face because waiting cost
him millions of dollars. You could have gotten CD around
the thirty one million a year before aj Brown got
his deal in April, getting that thirty two million a year,

(33:56):
than Justin Jefferson getting thirty five million a year. I
get that probably to a celebrate, accelerate you wanting to
get the deal done because now the market is set
way higher and you're looking at a deal closer or
over thirty five million dollars a year. He is a
top tier quarterback and all he's asking is to get
paid market value.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
That is fair. Last season, CD was the second in.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
Receiving yard's only behind Tyreek Hill, third in receiving touchdouts,
and led the Leak in receptions with one hundred and
thirty five.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
Like he's gonna get paid. You gotta pay the guy.

Speaker 4 (34:28):
He is your.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
Only weapon, like massively star weapon on offense.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
See, I think, if you're talking about April, that's already
too late.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
If I'm because like.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
Suthing that, like that's what this was said. Now I
want to see more cards fall in April.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
Well, but that that also goes for CD.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
CD at that point knows Justin Jefferson, you pick up
for a contract and all that, so he wants to wait,
you should have done this deal. Yeah, last offseason, before
these guys were up for their deals, and before you
knew that Justin Jefferson was going to likely set the
market at an exorbitant rate.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
It was.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
It's all crazy, a monster of the cowboys, and I
think Doc should.

Speaker 2 (35:06):
Want to and the vibe you guys at camp is
exactly how you would expect a.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
Little bit on edge.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
When we come back, it's time for the dues and
dots and sports. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Welcome back to Fox Sports Saturday of Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from Tara dot
Com Studios in Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon with.

Speaker 2 (35:40):
KRMEI and me. We were just looking at the commercial.
Sorry we came back a little late. What each country
pays their athletes for winning an Olympic medal?

Speaker 3 (35:50):
Is this like the countries themselves actually paying.

Speaker 4 (35:53):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
I feel like I want to look into this a
little more before I talk about it publicly, Like I'll
save this maybe next commercial break.

Speaker 4 (35:59):
What you would get dive into.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
This, like the amount of money Olympic athletes earned by
winning a medal based on their country, so I think
what their country?

Speaker 1 (36:11):
I mean, we were going through this, this was shocking.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
We'll save this because I want to, like, I don't
want to falsely give some information just based off.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
Yeah a post.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
But AnyWho, it is time for the dues and don'ts
in sports this week.

Speaker 8 (36:29):
I love that putting a.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
Spotlight on the don't the subject brings me no joy.

Speaker 4 (36:35):
That's insane.

Speaker 8 (36:35):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts in sports.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
Okay, we're staying in the Olympic theme here obviously all show.
So I'm going to start off with a DO. Lead
by example, and the Paris Olympics have had a lot
of FURST this year, so this is like a multi
tier DO. It's the first time the opening ceremonies took
place outside of a stadium on the Seen River. They

(37:02):
had first like they're normally all in arenas and they
kind of like stadiums.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
They like when they.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
Did the very beginning opening the guy walked into the arena,
I was like, where is everybody? So they kind of
like made it a thing. Also, the first time that
the Olympics are using reusable plates as part of Paris's
initiatives set new standards for sustainability at the Olympics, forty
thousand meals will be served each day in the Olympic Village,

(37:30):
all reusable plates, and thanks to Alison Felix, it's the
first time, first year an Olympic village will have a
nursery available for athletes to be closer to their children
and spend quality time with them during the games. Also,
first time in Olympic history to have equal number of
male and female athletes participated.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
So that's great. So many great first here in areas.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
Right, which is great.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
And I feel like the Tokyo Olympics was just like
a fever dream that was I don't remember anything about
the Tokyo Olympics, Like this is the return to form
and to do it in Paris, but is just a picnic city.
Although I will say the Eiffel Tower, like they they
were doing projections and stuff like during Selene's performance and everything.

Speaker 4 (38:13):
And I'm like, this kind of reminds me of the Castle.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
It doesn't, and I'm like, oh, I hate it's commercialize.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
It's crazy though, because they have been advertising this Paris
Olympics since we were there for the World Cup.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
In Paris in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Oh there were already like signs, billboards, everyone getting ready.
And our set for Fox Sports is in a very
similar spot where the Olympic set is, with the Eiffel
Tower in the background.

Speaker 1 (38:39):
It's it's just it's a very rings been up.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
They've been up for a while, a long time, all right, Well,
in that same vein, Yes, do bet on yourself, okay,
for multiple reasons, Yes always, which we've already talked about
for the most part, because I should have known that
we couldn't contain ourselves with Celine Dion.

Speaker 12 (38:56):
I know.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
But Celine Dion has worked four years yes to come back,
and she talks about in her documentary. I haven't watched
the whole thing, but she talked about her documentary how
like this is her lifeblood. Performing is her lifelood, So
fans are her lifelood. This is what she loves to do.
She's only fifty six years old. So have like a
battling back from something that is so scary, so ambiguous

(39:18):
in this this stiff person syndrome, which is very rare
that they don't even have like a really good name
for it. To come back and to do it. She's
French Canadian. She's Canadian, but she's like she speaks French
to come back and do a performance below these the
Eiffel Tower and for the Olympics where we are all
feeling like we're back.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
I just said her crying immediately that that was the
crying moment in the opening ceremonies.

Speaker 1 (39:47):
Oh yeah, Chef's kiss.

Speaker 4 (39:49):
And then do say yes do everything?

Speaker 1 (39:54):
Snoop dog, Oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
Says yes to everything and then he lives his best life.
We have seen him everywhere at the Olympics.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
He carried the tour.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
She's on the Olympic.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
He was on like the NBC show for the opening ceremonies.
They go to him at like every shot on TV.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
We have fourteen years going and like that's how he
stays rolevant.

Speaker 4 (40:14):
This man just says to everything, like with.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
Her family in the opening ceremony because she wasn't there.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
Like this man, he's so right, yes, as you never
know where it'll take you.

Speaker 2 (40:25):
Okay, I gotta don't okay, don't poke the bear. A
fan brought Kermit the Frog puppet dresses Patrick Mahomes to
Raiders camp, and a video of Raider's rookie Trey Taylor
having fun with it and mucking Chie's quarterback went viral
and Mahomes was asked about it and said it'll get
handled when it gets handled, meaning I'm not sure he

(40:48):
had that Raiders game circled in Vegas week eight.

Speaker 1 (40:52):
But now like he's gonna go yeah, but like it's
not really.

Speaker 2 (40:57):
Ry now he's just got a different reason to have
it circled and it's going to be a blowout game
because it's Patrick Mahons and he's going to be like, oh,
you think that's funny.

Speaker 1 (41:04):
Now you think that's funny.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
Now that man is gonna drop fifty yes on the
Raiders bold times wellless season, Bie go out like this
man manufactures motivation insane.

Speaker 4 (41:14):
All right.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
When we come back, we have spa Fox Sports Adam, I.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
Mean, joining the show don't go anywhere with Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Welcome to our two Fox Sports Saturday of Alex Curry.
Here with Carbon Vitally. Thank you for spending your Saturday
afternoon with carme and me. Happy Summer Olympics. We've already
had so many incredible moments. Brian, we got cut off
there during your update. We were talking about the US
Olympic count, right, so we're tied for five with Australia.

Speaker 1 (41:45):
Is that what we're doing right now?

Speaker 12 (41:46):
Are we?

Speaker 3 (41:47):
Are we ring Chris Purfett, our Olympic analysts in with us?

Speaker 1 (41:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (41:51):
Well yeah we all five? Yes, five, we're five?

Speaker 1 (41:55):
And when are their gold? Because they have more gold
medals than us? Right now? What do they have the
gold is?

Speaker 10 (41:59):
So here's what I'm thinking, and I'm looking it up
right now. Okay, as of right now, let's just say
they have the gold medals in like canoeing or something.

Speaker 6 (42:07):
Okay, but the gold medals are in one in cycling
road and two in swimming.

Speaker 1 (42:11):
Okay, Okay, that's fair, that's okay.

Speaker 10 (42:13):
They're not going to be able to hold the lead out.

Speaker 6 (42:17):
We know that this is swimming is a big sport
for them, and some of these early ones.

Speaker 1 (42:21):
Are right, Okay, I feeling okay about it. In one
of the gold got so much more.

Speaker 5 (42:25):
Chris was talking about Cala.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
For gymnastics, We're going to dominate.

Speaker 10 (42:28):
Katie Ladecki had a bronze, right, which is actually kind
of surprising. Yes, and that's where one of the Australian
golds came from.

Speaker 4 (42:35):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (42:36):
And that freestyle that's not her, that's not that, that's
not her like favorite sports right right.

Speaker 1 (42:40):
Right, right, all right?

Speaker 2 (42:42):
I mean we so much more Olympus coming up you guys.
We are broadcasting live for the tire dot Com studios.

All right, guys, It is time for our first guest.
I am so excited because Carmen's been gushing about him
all week. He does it all for Fox Sports NFL
on Fox, MLB on Fox. He just called USA's basketball
games before they left for the Olympics, and he's currently
joining us. Moments before calling the Yankees Red Sox game, Adam,
A mean thank you for joining the show.

Speaker 12 (43:37):
Oh, like Carmen, great to talk to you ladies, as
always with friends.

Speaker 1 (43:40):
Oh, we love it.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
Also like I didn't mention in the intro, but most
impressively also a DJ, can we just like give you
a little hype for.

Speaker 3 (43:48):
That love that you can't you can't and you have
a studio in your house now so you can't out run.

Speaker 1 (43:55):
I love that for you, Hike.

Speaker 12 (43:57):
I don't know if it's I don't know if it's
the most important. It is a thing.

Speaker 1 (44:00):
It's a great thing. It's a great thing.

Speaker 2 (44:03):
All right, Well, we really appreciate you joining us from
Boston before calling the Yankees Red Sox game.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
Now, the Yankees have been struggling a bit.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
They've lost five of seven since the All Star break
till still two games behind Baltimore.

Speaker 1 (44:15):
The last time I checked in, Al East.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
What big moves did they officially get Chisholm?

Speaker 1 (44:22):
Did I see that before we came on?

Speaker 2 (44:23):
What big moves do the Yankees need to make if
they're going to make any before the trade deadline?

Speaker 12 (44:28):
You know, I think they could still use some bullpen health,
and any team that wants to be in Convention can
always use another solid reliever to try to bridge into
your closer. You know, for the most part, this Yankee
bullpen has been really solid. They're really good last year.
They've been really decent this year, even though they blew
a game last night against Boston. But for the most part,
they're Bullten's in salad. You can always use an extra reliever. Reportedly,

(44:51):
Jazz Chisholm is coming to the Yankees. That hasn't been
solidified just yet, but if that ends up being the case,
you know, that adds some versatility to their infield. He's
obviously played more outfield the last couple of years, but
that adds some versatility. They They've had kind of a
revolving door at third base from early in the season.
Oswaldo Cabrera has had some struggles. He's been up and

(45:12):
down at times, So maybe you can add a little
bit of consistency, he can play multiple spots.

Speaker 10 (45:16):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (45:17):
They're going to get healthy too, that helps. I mean
gian Carlos stand is supposed to come back on Monday.

Speaker 1 (45:21):
Okay, that would be.

Speaker 12 (45:23):
Very important for them, just to add a little bit
of length to their lineup. Some of these hitters have
been shockingly bad. Like I don't think Aaron Boom was
expecting the type of slump that a player like Alex
Rdugo has been. I don't think he was expecting the
up and down nature of Labor Torres. We know that
Sodo and Judge are excellent, but I don't even know
if it's necessarily they have to make a significant move,

(45:43):
especially if this Chisholm deal does go through. I get
the feeling that it's just getting healthier. Would probably lengthen
their lineup a little bit. Yeah, I think that that'd
be a big boost to them.

Speaker 4 (45:53):
All Right, Well, Adam, we're watching table tennis right now,
so I'm going to.

Speaker 3 (45:56):
Pain electrifying even it's hard to concentrate on what we're
talking about with these like insane matchups.

Speaker 4 (46:04):
Ironic, when I say it is actually electrified.

Speaker 3 (46:06):
I love it so much, just the way that these
guys react so quickly in such a small amount of space,
just insane. But I'm going a pingpong to one of
the others, to another sport that you do, because you did.
You called Team USA is exhibition game against South Sudan,
which ended up being way more interesting than any of
us thought it was going to be.

Speaker 11 (46:26):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (46:26):
We heard that there's a couple of guys that might
be out for Team USA due to illness, one of
which is Joelle embiid. What did you see out of
this Team USA squad and what do they need now
that it counts?

Speaker 12 (46:36):
I think just to have a little bit of solidification
of their rotations. It was kind of odd at times
for Steve Kurr to try to manage the personnel that
he has. You know, I think there was a lot
made about why somebody like Derek White got the nod
when Kawhi Leonard was ruled out. Why somebody like Derek
White got the nod instead of somebody like Jayalen Brown.
I think Derek White was a really important piece because

(46:58):
he does very specific things and it's a very defined
role as the second unit point guard. The first unit
doesn't have a lot of role definition. Other than seemingly
there's a hierarchy, right Lebron seems to be number one,
Curry seems to be number two, and everybody else fill
in behind him, and a lot of this is matchup dependent.
The international game is different than the NBA game. The

(47:20):
spacing is different. It's you know, as much as we
complain sometimes or observe at the very least that the
NBA game is so three points heavy, the international game
is really predicated upon the three point shotting and spacing
because there's no defensive three second violations, so you can
pack multiple defenders into the paint. That's what France is
going to do with Victor Weber, Yaba and Rudy Gobert.

(47:41):
That's what you know, the bigger size teams are going
to do. Germany did that a little bit as well.
So trying to figure out role definition at this level
against teams that have kind of been playing with the
same rosters internationally for a while, or this is a
team that wasn't put together last year for the Feeble
World Cup. They went with all young guys last year.
Those players are obviously on Team USA now for the Olympics,

(48:03):
but Lebron didn't play Curry didn't play, Tatum wasn't on
that roster. A bunch of those guys didn't play at
World Cups, so they're just getting all this together. Durant
was hurt. Now a couple of guys might be out
because of illness. So I think the navigation of the
rotations is going to be the most important thing. And
can you adjust on the fly in game? If you're
Steve Kerran, Eric Spolster and Tyron Loop and Mark feu

(48:23):
as the coaching staff, then you make the right adjustments
quickly before a team you know sprints out on you.
Will they be okay in group play? Yeah, I'm not
worried about Serbia. I'm not worried they're not going to
take South Sudan as likely if they did seemingly in
that exhibition game. They'll be fighting against Puerto Rico. Will
come the knockout round, come the metal rounds. I have
some concerns about what we're going to say.

Speaker 4 (48:45):
I think that's fair.

Speaker 1 (48:46):
So do you That was kind of my next question.

Speaker 2 (48:49):
Do you see this US team having any big issues
in Paris? And how disappointing would it be if they
didn't win gold?

Speaker 12 (48:58):
I think anytime team goes to the Olympics for basketball
to disappointment when they don't win gold. I mean, then
when bronze in two thousand and four, and suddenly there
was a whole you know, idemnification of Team USA as
a program, and that's when the redeem team happens. That's
when Lebron you know, started his run. That's when Durant
started his run. That's when they started this four straight

(49:19):
gold medal run. So it's always a disappointment just because
USA has dominated basketball for so long. I don't think
anybody has caught up in USA.

Speaker 10 (49:28):
I don't.

Speaker 12 (49:28):
I don't think anybody is caught up as a roster
to the United States. But talent wise, significant jumps have
been made, and I think what that does is adds
a little bit more randomness when you get to like
a single game elimination situation, like you're going to see
come Metal round times. So like there's there's more concerns
now than there ever have been, not necessarily because they

(49:50):
don't have the most talented roster. They do, that's by
far the most talented roster. I get that people are
annoyed by the ninety two comparisons, as am I I
still think that ninety two Dream Team is the gold
standard for international basketball in general, not to.

Speaker 2 (50:04):
US, but they were they were also playing against as
many NBA players exactly.

Speaker 1 (50:09):
That's what they have to think about.

Speaker 12 (50:10):
You're you're absolutely you're absolutely right about that, because now
you see Germany has five, six seven guys with good
NBA experience. Argentina's got guys that have been through the
highest level of international play, whether it's in the EuroLeague,
whether it's in uh Asia or South America. They're at
the highest levels now. So again, you saw what's nou
Sudan did. This is a program that's it's been a
country for thirteen years, let alone a basketball program, and

(50:32):
now they're threatening. Granted in an exhibition game, but they're threatening.
Like the world has caught up, not necessarily surpassing or
at the same level as the US, but the randomness
factor starts to go up now once you get to
the metal rounds and things can get a little dice
at to make it interesting.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
And also that's great for the sport. Yeah, this is
what they wanted to do to expand and grow the sport.

Speaker 3 (50:53):
Right, I mean, yeah, you have you have Greece that
has one of the best players in the NBA playing
for them somebody else really at this point. But that's okay,
all right. Now you also are called MLB or you
call NFL on Fox. I should say you call MLB
on Fox. What you're doing now, call NFL on Fox.
We saw some quarterbacks get paid. There's some massive expectations

(51:16):
that come with a salary like that, but that you
could argue is the job of any quarterback. There's always
going to be pressure on quarterbacks. So I want to
talk specifically about the Dallas Cowboys and what in the
world they are planning to do, what they should do,

(51:38):
and what Dac should want to do. Then, given that
he has had all this pressure on him this whole time,
if he becomes a sixty million dollar man, that becomes another.

Speaker 4 (51:47):
You know, pressure or whatever.

Speaker 3 (51:49):
But should he even want to stay, should he even
want that money from the Dallas Cowboys, or should he
go somewhere else?

Speaker 12 (51:54):
I mean, I would certainly be okay with him exploring
the market, you know, the depending on one he could
get because here's the thing. The reason that somebody like
Jordan Love is going to make fifty five million dollars
years because the market is bad right now for buying
a quarterback. You know, like I said this at one
point last year, I counted, I think Carmen, you and
I went through this exercise at one point too, Like

(52:16):
we went through all the quarterbacks in the league for
thirty two teams, and like, I don't know, we got
to a number of maybe eleven or twelve being probably
being a little bit generous for quarterbacks that you would
feel super comfortable with going to going to try to
make a deep run in the playoffs. Right, So, twel
about a thirty two event six out of sixteen three,
it's like thirty seven percent less than Yeah, that's that

(52:39):
baltfel Education. Uh, less than forty percent of the quarterbacks
in the league. You're like confident in And that's again
being generous and confident is a broad word, right, It
could mean a lot of different things. Does that mean
you get to the playoffs? Yeah, if you're a mid
level team, you're happy paying somebody fifty million dollars to
get you to the playoffs. Like if you're the Atlanta
Falcons right now, if they make the playoffs, if they

(52:59):
win the n South, you're thinking that Kirk Cousin's investment
was perfect. That's exactly what you were trying to try
to do. If you're the Cowboys or probably now the Packers,
if you don't make a run to the NFC Championship
game at minimum, now you're feeling like that investment isn't
where it's that. So if I'm Dak Prescott, the market's
going to be pretty robust. I think I think a
lot of teams. I think I heard Colin and Toward

(53:20):
make this point. I know a lot of other people
have made this point, like the Seahawks, the you know,
if Gino Smith's contract doesn't seem to play out the
way they want to, if the Titans feel like they
want to move on from you know, Will Levis, There's
going to be multiple teams around the NFL that would
gladly pay, if not top dollar, close too, and certainly

(53:41):
would employe Dak Prescott for a short term deal, a
long term deal. I think the market's going to be
fine for him, So I would at the very least
explore it. But he's one of the twelve guys. He's
one of the twelve quarterbacks that we probably look at
and say, I feel comfortable, at the very least putting
players around him, investing in him because I think at
the very least he can get me competitive in a
playoff game.

Speaker 2 (54:01):
Okay, let's move to the number one rookie right now
in the year. All eyes are going to be on
Caleb Williams and what can he do as a rookie
for the Bears next season? You're calling his first game,
I think, So, do you think he's under the most
pressure heading into this season?

Speaker 12 (54:17):
Well, I'm a little bit biased, so I'll give you
my somewhat buying Chicago. Let's go. So I call them
preseason games and Mark Sanchez and I will have them
in Week one when they played Tennessee. So we'll get
a lot. I'll get a lot of looks at him early.
I know he's not gonna play punt of the preseason,
but we'll get a lot of looks at him in Chicago.
In my lifetime, they have not won a Super Bowl.

(54:38):
In common's lifetime, they have not won a Super Bowl.
League they just haven't. Like I was born in late
eighty six, they won ten months prior to that. So
in my lifetime and in a lot of people's lifetimes,
they haven't seen not only haven't seen a championship won
by the football team. But they haven't seen a quarterback
that they feel like they can invest in more than
anything else, right, Like they haven't. The Bears are the

(54:59):
only franch without a four thousand yard passer. They've never
had a thirty touchdown campaign from a quarterback, if you
can believe it. That's why, like Eric Framer threw for
twenty nine touchdowns like twenty years ago or thirty years ago.
So the quarterback position has been so berest of talent
and certainly hype. So we know that Kayleb Williams has
plenty of hype around him. I believe he's got a

(55:19):
significant amount of talent, and I know I'm not the
only one who thinks that. But will it click with
everybody right out of the gate? I think there's almost
more pressure on like Shane Waldron, the new coordinator for
the Bears, Like that was the biggest problem that I
saw between Justin Fields and lu Getty last year. It
was not the right marriage of talent set, skill set
and play calling. I just I thought that wasn't a

(55:41):
great marriage. Now you're mixing up both positions, You're putting
a lot of pressure on Shane Waldron, who has to
adjust his style to what Kayleb Williams can do. You know,
he's really good outside of the pocket. We've seen a
lot of that in training camp so far. So I
don't think there's as much pressure on Williams to deliver
up ten eleven, twelve win pe'son this year. But I
do think that in the city of Chicago, they're so

(56:03):
desperate and so thirsty for a strong performance from the
quarterback that that's where the pressure comes in. If he
doesn't deliver in the first five or six games, now
you're gonna have question marks for the rest of the year.
That doesn't mean it's going to be that bad all,
you know, for the next four years. I think he's
going to grow. I think he's gonna be fine. But
I think there's almost more pressure on the play calling
and the pieces around him. And I'm Ryan Coles, who's

(56:26):
made all these great moves to position Caleb Williams as
well as he has. I think there's almost more pressure
on some of the guys around Caleb than there is
on Caleb specifically, just in terms of this play on
the field, not regarding the hype that is surrounding the
number one pill.

Speaker 4 (56:40):
That's fair.

Speaker 3 (56:41):
What do you make of the reports that Caleb didn't
wanted to include a no tag clause in his rookie contract.

Speaker 12 (56:49):
I mean, I think this is an era where more
player empowerment is recognized by the players themselves and whoever
represents them. I think you're going to start to see
a lot more of this now because with n I
the way it's played out for high high, high level
college players, and caller Williams certainly falls in that category
talent wise, winning a Heisman, you know, endorsement wise, he

(57:09):
made a lot of money in college. I don't know
what the ports say, but it was a significant amount
of money that he made as a college student. So
I think you're going to see just more and more
of this from the highest level. Like tell me, you're
not going to hear every Ohio State quarterback or every
USC quarterback or every Michigan quarterback who comes out of
the you know, comes through the college system and then
goes into the draft. They're going to start asking for

(57:31):
these things. And the NFL CBA is pretty air tight.
But when the new CBA deal comes up, and I'm
not particularly sure when that is exactly. But that's going
to be a discussion now because you're going to have
to take in nil. You have to take an IL
into consideration now as another factor for how these athletes
want to be treated. This is a whole new era
that we're going into, not just at the collegiate level,

(57:53):
but it's going to trickle into the NFL as it
often does.

Speaker 1 (57:56):
Adam, thank you so much for joining us renaissance. Man
one have a great call tonight on Fox.

Speaker 12 (58:03):
Thanks friends.

Speaker 1 (58:04):
All right, sounds good, great call on that.

Speaker 4 (58:07):
By the way, he can do everything.

Speaker 1 (58:09):
Yeah, he does do everything. He literally does everything.

Speaker 3 (58:12):
He's also five and he's the voice of the Bulls. Yeah,
like he does MLB on Fox, NFL on Fox is
the voice of the Bulls. Play by play is basketball
for Fox, and then does TUSA basketball for Fox, has
the Olympics and then also just in his spare.

Speaker 4 (58:26):
Time, d DJ.

Speaker 1 (58:27):
We love it.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
All right, We're gonna take a quick break here, but
when we come back, should rouss be nervous about Fields
taking his job?

Speaker 1 (58:34):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (58:36):
Welcome back to Fox Sports Saturday of Alex Curry alongside
Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from Attark dot com
Studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending your Saturday
afternoon with us. Is this the hard rock song that
was in the opening ceremony.

Speaker 6 (58:49):
It's not the exact song, but it's the band I
was gonna say.

Speaker 2 (58:52):
We're having a very if you're listening to us live,
you're getting to hear the music when we come back
from a commercial break and it's all opening ceremony themed.

Speaker 6 (59:00):
Yes, yes, we had Rimkey, who was the kind of
guy he kind of looked like pit bull. I thought
he was like a French pit bull up there.

Speaker 2 (59:08):
He's the rapper and yeah, a Snoop guy actually asked
for a French bulldog like during the show and they
brought him one.

Speaker 6 (59:15):
Well, I think rim Key like shouted out Snoop there,
but yeah, and then go Jira. They're kind of like
an environmentalist band, but they were the ones playing up
there with the beheaded Marie Antoinette.

Speaker 2 (59:24):
So it was very metal, but it was like, we're
going to show you our history and we're not ashamed
of it.

Speaker 4 (59:32):
I love it. Well.

Speaker 3 (59:34):

Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
Show be up tonight, be Up tomorrow, will blast you.

Speaker 4 (01:00:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
But now let's do a quick little quarterback watch, all right,
and let's start at Steelers camp, because this is one
of my teams to watch heading into the season, and
it's hot. Not gonna say it's for sure, but it's
sounding a little more like we might get a flight
quarterback competition. Russell Wilson has missed the first two days

(01:00:29):
of camp. He's been out with calf tightness, meaning Justin
Fields has been taking QB one reps. Now, in case
you need a little reminder, the Broncos are paying Russell
Wilson thirty eight million dollars to play for another team.
He is playing for his career this season, but that
also means the Steelers don't have any loyalty to him.

(01:00:50):
And on the other side of things, Justin Fields, Yes,
he did not have the success in Chicago. Sometimes a
new team, new city, new coach can kind of help
get things back on track if it's there, if the
potential is there. But Justin Fields is also known as
a locker room guy. Russ is not. And if Fields

(01:01:11):
is the first one out there getting these reps with
all the guys creating these relationships, especially if for US
doesn't get a good start to the season because Tomlin's
already saying nothing's changed, Russ is going to be most
likely QB one.

Speaker 1 (01:01:25):
But again, anything can happen leading up to the start
of the season.

Speaker 4 (01:01:30):
Like, Russ is there, Russ in the field.

Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
Literally, there is a video of Justin Fields throwing in
warm ups to Russell Wilson who was catching the ball.
So like, I don't buy that he's missing out on
any of the relationship aspect of anything because he's there,
and he's also like he's still with the team. Hey,
you can't fault the guy for the for in a
team for being overly cautious with in aging. I hate

(01:01:54):
to say it, quarterback oh he is, yeah, yes, and
having some cap titaness at this stage of the preseason. Like,
I don't think that there's much to do here. I
also here for Justin Fields to rip that pole position.
I think Tomlin called it way back when, yep, that
Russ was in pole position for the starting job. For

(01:02:14):
Justin Fields to catch up to that and then take
that away from Russ from Russell, I just I don't
know how you do that in the preseason. No one's
allowed to touch you. Like the bullets are not live,
pads are only on occasionally.

Speaker 4 (01:02:27):
It is very hard for you to show out.

Speaker 3 (01:02:30):
Enough to where if I'm the Steelers, I'm going to
forego the guy that has all the experience, that has
the nine Pro Bowls, that has the Super Bowl ring,
that has all of that, and say, yeah, let me
take a shot on this guy.

Speaker 12 (01:02:40):
No.

Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
I definitely think Russ will start the season.

Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
But if Russ doesn't get off to a good start,
they're at Falcons at Broncos, vers Chargers at Colts versus Cowboys.
If they lose that Cowboys game and they're not at
a good start, I think they're going to look to
Fields because they do not have loyalty to Russell Wilson.
Justin Fields was a starting quarterback and he is someone
who whins a locker room. He is a teammate, locker
room guy. That is Russ's biggest downfall that we have

(01:03:06):
heard from both Seahawks former teammates and Broncos former teammates.

Speaker 4 (01:03:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:03:11):
But here's why I think that that is not the answer.
Because if you look at you look at the system
that will be developed by so Arthur Smith is new
their offensive coordinator. You know him from the Titans, you
know him from the Falcons. Didn't go so well for
him as a head coach to the Falcons. Get that
he revamped Tryan Tannehill's career in Tennessee. If you look

(01:03:34):
at the system that he is likely to deploy for
Russell Wilson, it looks different than the system that you
would need to get the most out of Justin Field's
skill set. This was my issue with Justin and Adam
actually alluded to it when we talk Adam Amin alluded
to it when we talked to him just a few
minutes ago. The system that Luke Getzie ran and Justin
Field's skill set, we're completely at odds with each other

(01:03:55):
because Justin needs a very specific system that really isn't
running today's to succeed. The magic comes from his deep
ball and from how he runs, from how Justin Fields runs.
So you need to put him in a run heavy
like pro set heavy offense that runs the ball a lot,
that makes the defense contend with multiple runners, and then

(01:04:16):
you take your deep shots down the field. I don't
know that that's Arthur Smith's offense. So if you start
the season with an Arthur Smith offense that is tailored
to Russell Wilson and then you bring Justin Fields in,
who was like fitting a square peg into a round hole.
With the murderer's row of opponents that the Steelers have
in the back half of their season in particular, I
don't see that going well.

Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
I'm just saying there's a chance, new team, new city,
new coach, new system, If the locker room's gone his back,
anything could happen and things could sway his way.

Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
But let's check in with Brian Finley and see what's trending.

Speaker 10 (01:04:50):
Yeah, and Carmen and Alex, you're talking about the opening
ceremonies of the Olympics, so so fun.

Speaker 5 (01:04:55):
Fact here back in eighty.

Speaker 10 (01:04:57):
Four in Los Angeles, my mom held the placard four Molacco.

Speaker 5 (01:05:01):
Yeah so there's I posted the picture of this. No,
she's not.

Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
It's like a volunteer, just a volunteer.

Speaker 11 (01:05:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:05:08):
There was a Moroccan athlete that held the flag.

Speaker 12 (01:05:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:05:10):
Yeah, so when you're.

Speaker 2 (01:05:11):
Holding the country, yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:05:14):
So that's yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:05:18):
But like and she wasn't I mean to no offensive
her own and she wasn't the best athletes, so I
don't know what she would be competing and not as
good of athletes as both of you are. But we yeah, well,
and speaking of what's going on in the Olympics right now,
we are dead set on looking at the medal count.
And I know it's early in the Global Games, Australia
still at five medals, three golds, and as we were

(01:05:41):
talking about, one gold from cycling road and two from swimming,
and we do have Team USA with five golds. But
here's the problem, Carmen and Analys only one gold for
the Americans.

Speaker 5 (01:05:53):
But I don't think.

Speaker 10 (01:05:54):
That's going to stay it out way that way.

Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
Simone starts tomorrow. Let's women's gyp.

Speaker 10 (01:06:01):
Yes, yeah, and then we have all the track and feel,
we've got men's basketball and yeah, and men's soccer actually
got a win for the Americans today four to one
against New Zealand, albeit it is New Zealand and no
offense to to New Zealand.

Speaker 5 (01:06:15):
Although.

Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
Little too small to be that badly.

Speaker 10 (01:06:22):
Well, there's yeah. And then but then you have not
only that, but then men's volleyball winning against Argentina three,
three sets to nine, and then women's field hockey actually
Argentina beat Team USA, so you get some revenge there
for for that. And one thing to mention, the gold
for the Americans came in the four by one hundred

(01:06:46):
freestyle relay. On the men's side, Katie Ledecki had the
four hundred meter freestyle bronze, so a bit of an
upset that she didn't finish on the top. There you
were talking earlier in the show. Canada women's head soccer
coach Bev Priestman suspended four for a year and her
team is going to be deducted six points for these
Olympics since Canada, just how do you not think you're

(01:07:08):
gonna get away with this?

Speaker 5 (01:07:09):
Alex and Carmen.

Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
You're Hi Gate, It's it's it's our newest bike game.

Speaker 4 (01:07:12):
Yeah, we're like, if you ain't seen, you ain't trying.
You just can't be dumb enough get caught.

Speaker 5 (01:07:16):
That is so true. That is so true. So everybody
is cheating.

Speaker 10 (01:07:20):
And this was the obvious cheating of let's get a
drone into the air let's fly that ridiculous, and then
let's try to.

Speaker 4 (01:07:26):
Get in so too, Like they're not unless they're electric bugs.

Speaker 2 (01:07:30):
I literally like I look up because around my house
all the time, I'm like, it's an electric.

Speaker 3 (01:07:33):
Unless you have like a military grade drone. Like, yeah,
you're gonna notice. You hear it, you hear it.

Speaker 10 (01:07:38):
But isn't there certain like airspaces that you can't have
the drones, especially during an around an airport. I would
think they would shoot those things down.

Speaker 1 (01:07:47):
Oh no, they won't go up. They won't fly.

Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
Like when I was at Angels, Disney had a no
fly zone so we couldn't even raise drones at Angel
Stadium we couldn't.

Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
So same with the Bucks because we're so close to
the airport that you could not fly and.

Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
They just they won't even go up.

Speaker 3 (01:08:01):
The practice fields are like really really well like out
open and so like you could past the practically past
the practice field like on the road, which always thought
was weird because I was like, anybody could be looking
through these bushes, but you couldn't have Jones. Yeah, airspace,
airspace restrictions.

Speaker 10 (01:08:17):
Well, in the meanwhile, I'm going to send a drone
over to the host room here. Okay, actually there is
kind of out in the form of cameras. We are
in life.

Speaker 1 (01:08:25):
Thank you, we got a lost.

Speaker 5 (01:08:26):
Curry Karma Metaliti.

Speaker 1 (01:08:27):
Thank you, Brian.

Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
You're listening to Fox Sports Saturday at Alex Corey with
Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from Attar dot Com
Studios in Los Angeles, and let's get right to our
next guest. I'm so excited to finally talk to her
in real life.

Speaker 1 (01:08:39):
MLB Networks ambulate Bar thank you for joining the show.

Speaker 8 (01:08:43):
I love it.

Speaker 13 (01:08:43):
Good Saturday Ladies' days.

Speaker 4 (01:08:45):
Right, WOWMSA, why don't we have those?

Speaker 13 (01:08:49):
I know, right, it's like, what it's five five thirty here,
five o'clock.

Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
Oh yeah, we always we always forget.

Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
I'm like, it's like early afternoon for us over here
in LA.

Speaker 4 (01:08:58):
It's five o'clock and these cost it's five o'clocks. We're
let's get more team.

Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
Are we working quick pitch tonight?

Speaker 13 (01:09:03):
We are? So yeah, technically maybe we shouldn't do Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:09:06):
Yeah, maybe it'll be a great show.

Speaker 2 (01:09:09):
But let's dive into that because we've got the trade
deadline inching closer on Tuesday. We kind of got our
first big move Thursday night with Randy and Roseverina traded
to the Mariners. I picked the Mariners to win the
AO West this season. I'm a huge fan of Randy,
especially playoff Randy. But does this move enough to help
Seattle win the AO West?

Speaker 12 (01:09:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 13 (01:09:31):
No, I mean here's the deal. They have got to
maximize that young rotation. Now. Yeah, I think they need
more weapons. I think there's too many offensive weapons available
out there. I actually I follow MLB tonight and last
night Jake TV was talking and you have a really
good perspective, which I thought probably fits really well with
this Mariners team right now where they kind of fell
in the standings. They need some sort of like humphs

(01:09:53):
to get things going. Jake was talking about how when
you bring in a big name player into your clubhouse, Yes,
everybody's heads turn and all of a sudden there's this
new found like, hey, the front office leaves in US,
we believe in US now, Like there's just a statement
that's made when you bring in a big name. And
I think there's really good big names out there that
could fit really well into what the ends need. So yeah,

(01:10:14):
I think they need to go out and be something else.

Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
Well, and now it's looking like the Yankees actually made
the biggest splash getting jazz Chism, which we love. What
does this do for the Yankees? I mean, what there
are a couple of games back from Baltimore.

Speaker 1 (01:10:30):
Last five of the last seven, is this struggling.

Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
The momentum is swing the needle, especially with them struggling, Yeah,
and particular but potentially getting don Carlo Stanton back, I mean,
is this gonna Are we gonna just see the Yankees
are on the table, you know going forward.

Speaker 13 (01:10:45):
It's so funny because I literally was just earlier I
was just kind of touching up on everything before this
trade was announced, and I read something about jazz Chism
being packaged with Tanner's Scott and I was like, that
is a heck of a deal, because you kill two
birds with one stone. But then, of course, obviously the
Scott thing's still out there on the table. But I
like the kids and move so that addresses the end
field there. We saw it last night with the Yankees

(01:11:06):
release pitching right. Their bullpen over the last six stamps
for a research department is oh and two with a
seven two nine era. I mean, you need that sling
and missed up right.

Speaker 1 (01:11:16):
I can't do that the Red Sox.

Speaker 13 (01:11:17):
They blew it last night against the Red Sox. The
Yankees had so much potential. You know, you talk about
O's versus the Yankees. Yankees, the Os have a window.
The Yankees window is now and I would love to,
you know, see them in the World Series. I think
this is a great move, but they still got they've
they've got to address that release hitching.

Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
All right, Let's talk about another star studded team, the Dodgers,
but they've been plagued by injuries so far this season.
They got a little bit of help with Clayton Kershaw's
season debut on Thursday night, but they still need a
lot of help on the mound.

Speaker 1 (01:11:47):
What moves do you see them making at the deadline?

Speaker 13 (01:11:51):
Well, I think I like Sarret Crochet. I mean, everyone's
had their eyes on him. They got really intriguing with
all the stipulations that he came out with, which kind
of narrow that down to fit perfectly with the Dodgers,
you know, they I really like this move. He's one
of the most highly taluted, you know, players out there
right now when it comes to who's available, and because
of what he's asking for, that makes the window of

(01:12:13):
option smaller for him. I mean, look, the Dodgers were
slept in the postseason because of their starting pitching, and
they took that risk with Yamamoto and Glass now and
so take the risk and get crochet, like, if you
want to win, that's what you need to do. And
I really like that move, and so hopefully we see
something happen there.

Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
Speaking of I mean the Phillies coming out and just
I mean, my gosh, they're running the table in the
National League. Dodge's a couple of games back from them
right now, obviously trying to load or should try to
load up. But is anybody catching the Phillies at this point?
Do we think that this is the World Series team
and the National League going, Yeah.

Speaker 13 (01:12:51):
It's so hard to tell, right, Like, I think, you know,
you're in a good position where we've heard the Phillies
front office talk about it a lot like there aren't
any clear holes that you have to fill anything that
they're trying to fill right now or just making minor adjustment.
So when that's like what you need for your team
at the trade dead vines, that's a good sign. I
think the biggest thing with the abilities and this is
why it feels like nobody can really stop them right now.

(01:13:12):
And like when it comes to my perspective, think about
how well they were playing when they didn't have you know,
Trade Turner, when they didn't have Bright Harper, Like they
rallied together and guys stepped up that needed to step up.
And you know, we're seeing guys like Alex bhlm like
taking their game to the next level unexpectedly. So if
you go through adversity like that as a team and Alex,
you know, just having covered a team and being inside

(01:13:32):
the locker room in the cluboume like when you have
that belief that you can win without your big guys,
like your main guys, then when the time comes around,
like if you lose them again, they're not going to
go in a panic moode Like God forbid something happens.
But you know, if they get down this the end
of the season and they're dealing with injuries again, like
they were able to get it done. They were able
to be a really successful team without key players. So

(01:13:53):
I think they're just there's so much depth to this
team that is a pretty scary thing.

Speaker 2 (01:13:57):
I mean, we really saw it firsthand, kind of how
closest team is at the home run derby, right their
entire their entire stayed to watch out Boom try to
win the home run Derby. And then you saw Tioscar
Hernandez that this was a dream for him, fighting all
the way to the end and winning it.

Speaker 1 (01:14:15):
Tyler Glasnow was.

Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
His only teammate there saying and supporting him, and that
that is a like a like a behind the scenes
look into the like the camaraderie, the clubhouse, the dugout,
like you gotta go and fight till the end for
your team. And with that being said, do you think

(01:14:37):
the Phillies are the World Series favorite right now?

Speaker 13 (01:14:40):
Over?

Speaker 1 (01:14:41):
Oh you got us?

Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
Do you think that the Phillies are the World series
favorites over the Dodgers?

Speaker 1 (01:14:49):
Did we lose her? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
Okay, I heard there you go we got it real
quick before you go, do we think with all of this,
like we saw the curtain being pulled back, that the
Phillies are the World Series favorites over the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
Right now in the National League?

Speaker 13 (01:15:07):
But you asked because it cut off a little bit there,
but you were saying, do we think the Phillies are
the World Series favorite?

Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
Yes? Yes?

Speaker 13 (01:15:13):
Yeah, I mean I.

Speaker 1 (01:15:19):
Don okay, all right, yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:15:21):
Oops, that was abby but she was great, great inside Info.
Catch her on Quick Pitch tonight on MLB Network. She
has been wonderful. I know, I know we'll have to
get her back off again, but we're gonna take one
more break here, you guys. When we come back, we've
got our feel good story of the week. You're listening
to Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back to Fox Sports Saturday.

(01:15:42):
I'm Alex Courty here with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting
live from Attack dot Com Studios in Los Angeles, and
I am just we are all Olympic theme today. If
you're listening live, every commercial break, we're coming back with
some sort of Olympic music. And this feels like classic,
like g classic Dunce Macabre.

Speaker 6 (01:16:02):
I think they had that what was that masked torch bearer?
They never identified who it was.

Speaker 2 (01:16:08):
Everywhere he was going to music, yeah, and then yeah
he lived.

Speaker 4 (01:16:12):
The friends are mysterious.

Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
That was. It was a cinematic experience. It was.

Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
It was a tad bit too long, a tad bit
too long, but a cinematic experience worth the wait for
Selene Dion And when they lit the giant air balloon,
that was It's.

Speaker 4 (01:16:28):
Like, that was Selene Dion and she rips off the mask.

Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
No, she did do some sort of like kind of
running thing for Vogue on one of the boats.

Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
Oh yeah, yeah, but no, not that.

Speaker 4 (01:16:41):
That would be hilarious.

Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
But that's not actually like I mean, like you want
Selene Selene given her Selene moment.

Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
Now, there have been a lot of feel good stories
around the Olympics. Before we get to our feel good
story of the week. I just saw this and Carmen
and I were talking about in a commercial break and
I just kind of give a shout out to flame
Flave if.

Speaker 4 (01:17:02):
You guys, which is not something I thought.

Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
Not, but flavor Flave is sponsoring the US women's water
polo team. After he learned that team members were working
multiple jobs, just to continue training and competing despite women's
water polo team winning three straight and going for four
Olympic gold medal.

Speaker 1 (01:17:22):
So flavor Flave, Flavor flav.

Speaker 3 (01:17:27):
Good investments because it has not been relevant in a
long time. But hey, I like on board. Now let's go,
let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
Yeah, okay, but now for our feel good story of
the week. We are in full Olympic mode right now.
There have been so many exciting things to watch. Table
tennis just like stole our attention during this entire shot
because we're staring right at it as we're doing it.
But it's Simone Biles, you guys, the comeback of Simone Biles.

(01:17:58):
She is the most decorated gymnast of all time. She's
also right now the oldest female American gymnast can bete
in the Olympics in seventy two years. She's twenty seven
years old and still changing the game. Carmen I finally
watched her documentary on Netflix. What a badass she everything

(01:18:18):
she has been through mentally physically, it's not easy to
talk about your traumas so openly and so publicly. As
someone who's been dealing with that and working through some
similar ones. Almost my entire life to see the greatest
of all time be this vulnerable, talk about it publicly,

(01:18:41):
relive it publicly, and then share that it's continuously a
work in progress and then completely make a one point
eighty turned back around to come back and absolutely dominate.

Speaker 1 (01:18:57):
I think, what's see the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
I think what's so impactful about Moan Biles is that
this is a example where mental health directly impacts physical health.
Because she's talking about getting the yips or the twisties
as they call it in gym, where if you lose
yourself in the air, you can end up on your head,
you can die. There is a physical danger to not

(01:19:21):
having her mental health in order.

Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
I mean she talked about it.

Speaker 2 (01:19:23):
She goes every time I do the vault, I could die,
and I think about that.

Speaker 1 (01:19:28):
I just don't die. I don't want to die.

Speaker 3 (01:19:30):
But like, this is the best example that we can
now call to where you are, Like, mental health is health. Yes,
it impacts your body in its physical form. And now
we have a very tangible example. And this why it's
why it's so impactful for someone to share her story.
And I really appreciate that this is a woman that,
like you said, most Secretgiyms of all time.

Speaker 4 (01:19:50):
She has five skills and.

Speaker 1 (01:19:51):
She's going for six on the uneven bars.

Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
Yes, she's going for a six, which is not something
we even associate with Simone Biles. You associate her with floor,
we associate her with. She is now going for a
sixth named skill after her, which to get a skill
named after you, if you don't know, you have to
do it at you have to complete it at Worlds
or the Olympics. So she's now using the Olympics. Not
only is she back, yes, but she is using the
Olympics to get another skill named after her, because there

(01:20:17):
is no one on planet Earth that is doing what
Simone Biles is doing.

Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
If she completes this one, she'll become the only active
gymnast to have skills named after her on all four events.

Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
Yes, it's it's like, it cannot be overstated how incredible
this comeback is, the fact that she is even attempting it,
and she is doing it with such grace, especially what
you vulnerably went through all like these last four years
and what she went through in Tokyo, and I just
I laughed so hard when she was like, I want
to prove that an older gymnast can do it, and
I'm like.

Speaker 1 (01:20:46):
Girl when she said that.

Speaker 2 (01:20:49):
But it's crazy because gymnastics is a young sport, very young,
like you know, you're gonna do it at like ten.
If you're going to make it to the Olympics like
it is, it's aout wild I can not wait to
see her, I think tomorrow Sunday. This is what I'm
most looking forward to. Simonbiles, the Goat, the comeback, everything.
If you haven't watched your documentary, watch it tonight before

(01:21:11):
tomorrow so you can get just as pumped up. Thank
you so much for spending your Saturday afternoon with Carmeie
and me.

Speaker 1 (01:21:16):
Have so much fun. Have a safe wee get and
go USA.

Speaker 2 (01:21:20):
