Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Welcome to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here with
Carmen Vitally. Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon with
us on one of the best sports weekends of the year.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
Carmi just flew back this morning.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
She was at that insane ASU win last night over Utah.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Alex.

Speaker 5 (00:22):
The last two ASU games I have been to as
a fan, they have they have knocked off ranked teams
and rushed the field.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Head to toe. Devil scared that she all bought yesterday
you guys, oh my god.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
This is this jacket a shout out field Homefield sent
me this.

Speaker 5 (00:35):
Okay, but it was a blackout game, so I didn't
have like black ASU stuff. I just maroon and gold
ASU stuff. So I had to buy some stuff and
I'm all swagged out. Spent too much money at the bookstore.
Every time we touched Cascata came on in the bookstore
and I.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Was like, what done? Year is it?

Speaker 5 (00:51):
I am on campus in my old bookstore with this
song that came on.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Yeah, they knew you were coming, and they're like, we're
gonna give you were twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Four hours of your life.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
Where make you feel like you're a freshman in college.

Speaker 6 (01:04):
Again.

Speaker 5 (01:04):
It was also I just want to say, Jonahs Knox
could not have been more wonderful, and there was no
truth to us saying that he was the undercard.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Are you guys shout out?

Speaker 2 (01:14):
This is the first time I've been doing the show
for over a year, first time I met Jonahs Knox
in person, first time he was actually in studio and
we had a crossover.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
So that was that was fabulous.

Speaker 7 (01:24):
I get back sweat every single time.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Wait, oh is he here? No?

Speaker 4 (01:29):
No, that was just the second guy.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Thank you there it is love it.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Thank you, Chris Burphet.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Do not trust me, do not rely on me. Done
good to know. I wish I knew these things.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
But life with Jonahs snippets right now you can just
say in the balls at least a dozen times by
six year old. Okay, Okay, I guess I take back
just being the most wonderful human.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
No, I'm just kidding.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
That was great. That was so wonderful. And again, no
truth to us saying he was the undercard.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
No, that was wonderful. Again, like I said, you guys,
this is such an elite college football lineup today. Can
we just take a moment to recognize that Carmen and
I were talking about this on the car ride here,
because like months ago, there was this meme going around
that was like, there's so many weddings on October twelve,
and there was all these sports fans like do I
go to the wedding or do I reject it? Because

(02:19):
there are so many incredible matchups on this day?

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Yeah, it's insane.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
The happy medium there, I suppose is probably just like
I don't I wouldn't go to a wedding where I
think the bride and groom would care if I had
game up on my phone. But like there are so
many weddings that I have now gone to where I've
had games up on my phone.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
A wedding tonight, that's.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Just like that's literally tonight and it's gonna happen, and
they're in sports.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Everyone that's going is in sports.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
So like right, but like if you're I wouldn't be
surprised if they had a TV with the games on.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
I just I have a brand now, and it's like
if whether or not somebody is in sports or understand that,
like they just know that if I'm coming to your wedding,
and there is football on.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
I will be watching out.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Sorry, yeah, mad phone going to be great, you guys,
crazy postseason baseball over the last few days. Vibes were
immaculate at Dodger Stadium last night. As they move on
to the NLCS, We're going to break that down in
just a bit. Also, like NHL season just kicked off,
Congrats to the LA Kings for winning their season opener.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Woo if you don't know that about.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
The Chicago Blackhawks, but that's okay, good for your good
first when it comes against the blank.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
All right, we are broadcasting live from the tag dot
com studios. Tyrec dot com will help you get there
an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection,

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Now, we got a great show for you guys today.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
We have MLB Networks Alana Rizzo joining us in about
thirty minutes. She was also the Dodgers sideline reporter I
think for about a decade, as long as I was
with the Angels.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Then we have.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Jets team reporter Caroline Hendershot in hour two to give
us the inside scoop of the vibes in the building
since they fired their head coach Robert Salad earlier this week,
we got producer Patrick with us today, Technical producer Chris
Perfet Brian Finley at the news deck. We're going to
keep you updated on all the college football action as
it goes down.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
We also have the.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Detroit and Cleveland game going on right now, but it's
looking like Cleveland's running away with it now seven three,
bottom of the eighth, so it looks like they're going
to move on to probably play the Yankees. But again,
we're going to keep you up everything going on live
right now.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
The sc Yeah, that's live touchdown?

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Se did that just happen?

Speaker 4 (04:49):
The Red River River rivalry got out. I'm going to
stumble over that all day.

Speaker 7 (04:53):
You can't help but Elmer Fudd that name.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
I know the Red River rivalry is red River halfway through.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
The Red River Red Rid No, no Red Red, I
should just say it that way.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Any red Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:09):
I Texas Okahoma scoreless through the first half of the
first quarter.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Oh, we love an sc up over Penn State. This
is gonna be awesome, you guys. Okay, but let's start
with some postseason baseball because our championship series are almost set.
Like we're just waiting for what one more inning in
this Cleveland Detroit game? See who plays? Uh the Yankees,
but they kick off tomorrow. Both New York teams were

(05:33):
the first to advance to the championship series, but the
best series so far this postseason was the Dodgers and
the Padres. And the Dodgers are once again the Padres Padre.
Game five at home, with the season on the line,
could not have gone more beautiful than it did. Two

(05:55):
solo home runs by both of the Hernandez's on the team,
Kik in the second, who now has fourteen career postseason
home runs. That is more than a Rod Miggy Chipper Jones,
Kik is mister October and his vibes are unmatched. I
don't know if you saw his little postgame celebration with
Gavin Lux the little hip thrust like pound, I don't

(06:18):
know what you want to call it, but like whammy.
And then like postseason is like postgame comments. Everything was insane,
and then you had the insurance home run by Tao
in the bottom of the seventh. I had friends at
the game, sadly I was not there but texting. They
were texting me as it was happening, like this is
the loudest I've ever heard Dodger Stadium. It's literally shaking

(06:39):
right now. And it was just a lights out performance
by the Dodgers' pitching staff. The Padres were held to
twenty four consecutive scoreless innings.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
That's how you win a series.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Nineteen Padres players retired in a row.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
That's insane. That's insane.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
And last night it all started with Yoshinobu Yamamoto I
scoreless and hitless innings, and I think a lot of
people were a little.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Nervous when they pulled him after five, like what are
you doing?

Speaker 2 (07:07):
He looks fine, But again, like the Dodgers bullpen and
pitching staff came in and just got the job done.
And this is why the last like this series, right,
their first postseason series. Is why you went out and
you spent over one billion dollars on Shoheyo Tani and
Yoshinobu Yamamoto. It's the first time either of these players

(07:30):
have been playing in this high stake of game in
Major League Baseball. And again history was made last night
for the first time too. You had two Japanese born
starters on the mound for the first time starting a
postseason game. We heard Otani talking about what you Darvish
meant to him growing up and how much he looked
up to him. And there was this speech during the

(07:50):
WBC that Otani gave to Team Japan before they were
playing Team USA, and a big part of this speech
was like, we cannot idol them today. You cannot look
up to these players today. Yes, you are going to
know every single name on that roster, but if we
want to win, you have to learn to be an

(08:11):
equal competitor with them. And I have to imagine Otani
had like a similar conversation not only with like Yamamoto
and himself in that moment facing off against like you know,
someone that was like their Japanese like Idol and Icon.
That really set the stage for them to be able
to do what they're doing over here in Major League Baseball.
But it has just been I mean, it was such

(08:34):
an insane environment and electric game last night. Rob Low
on the field, jumping up and down celebrating with Otani
was all of us.

Speaker 5 (08:43):
I saw that he was decked out, had to toe
in Dodger gear. But like when it comes time for
the NFL, he just got He's infamous for his NFL hat. Yeah,
and I'm like, so you do know how to root
for a team. You do have teams.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
He hugged Otani and was jumping up and down with
a I think.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
The better description of that is he tackled o Tom.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
It was close.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
I got a little nervous. I was like, is he
gonna be okay? He's probably had a couple of drinks.
Otani's really big, He's really important.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Rob don't hurt.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Him because I think Rob Low literally jumped on him. No,
he did.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
It was like a full tackle tackle.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
But that was Yeah, it was just awesome, especially just
like the clashing of like these two teams, like I was.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
Gonna say, I have to imagine that this was so
satisfying for the Dodgers just in general, because like the
Padres have been either their level or better pretty much
this entire time. Like you even look at Yamamoto's pitching
debut back early in the season, they got stomped by
the Padres in that game. And then like with the
Dodgers pitching rotation hurting so badly, they have gone the second.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
Best in baseball.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
They won this game forty two to twenty three since
the break, and only the Padres were better. So this
has been just kind of a breakneck race between these
two teams. And then to be the one to come
out on top and to advance over these guys.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Well, I think it also cut like this rivalry has
really started back like twenty twenty when the Dodgers knocked
out the Padres in the postseason and then twenty twenty
two when the Padres knocked out the Dodgers in the NLDS,
like the Dodgers have not Yeah, the Dodgers have not
had success with that number one seed of having that
kind of weak down time off and then advancing to

(10:23):
the NLCS. It is really hard to do so the
first time that they've been able to do.

Speaker 4 (10:27):
He talked a lot.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
About it, Shoheo Tani was going to be one of
the reasons that the Dodgers were able to overcome that,
and I think that I don't think that there's.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
A question mark now.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
I think that he definitely was a big factor because
you hear everybody say, like it's kind of similar to
like the Tom Brady effect. Once you have someone that
of that caliber in the building, everybody wants to elevate
to that level, no matter like the.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Belief of the best player in baseball.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Literally the best player there is in your clubhouse, like
in the dugout.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
But it really was the pitching that pitch.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Especially with like all the adversity they faced.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
They've lost their ace, their number two, Like, hey, they
lost everybody, everybody is on the il. But the other
really cool thing I think that helped is that the Dodgers, again,
I don't know if you call it cool or not,
but I think it was important for them. They were
fighting for that first place spot in the NLS all
the way till that last week of the season, and

(11:21):
that was I think one of the biggest issues in
years past is the Dodgers reached like over one hundred
wins way too early, and they clinched that first play
spot weeks before the season ended, and then it's like, yeah, okay,
you're playing. But it's so much different when you're like, okay,
we're in the postseason and we're gonna keep a cruising,

(11:42):
We're gonna play. This is great opposed to like fighting
for your life down to that last week, which is
why you see so many wildcard teams make it all
the way to the Championship series because you're in that mentality.
And with baseball, unlike any other sport, downtime is not good.
Like you're timing at the plate gets off by like
just a little, Like you just get.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Out of a routine too.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
I mean day when you look at like football, for instance,
it's like you know that you practice Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
You know that your recovery days are Monday Tuesday after games,
like you have everything all week. You have everything down
to the minute of what you're doing. In baseball, it's
not the case. It's not like you really have practices
or anything like that.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
You're just kind of.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
Completely out of your routine. You're out of the motions
of it every single day that you're off. So if
the more that is, the more you're out, the more
rust you have to shake off. It's very it is,
it's it's it's definitely a weird conundrum because like, what's
the line between recovering if you're injured and or just
need rest Because you look at a team like the Mets,

(12:42):
who their entrance into the postseason was like the hardest
it could possibly be. We joked so much about how
that was such a perfectly Mets thing trip. Yes, yes,
because like the Hurricanes again, so they played eight games
and seven days just to get in there, like and
then the.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Double header like that was supposed to be the day
off day off season started, and that's when they clinched
their postseason spot, like absolutely insane. So next step, as
you mentioned, Mets at Dodgers this Sunday tomorrow on Fox.
This is gonna be interesting and fun because the Mets
have also been on a magical journey this season. I mean,

(13:18):
they knocked out the Phillies to advance to the NLCS
in four games, which, like the Phillies were a World
Series favorite, they were a top three World about how
they were happy.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
I am so happy.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Oh buddy, both of them are down and mine are
still great. And you gave me so much, you know,
a hard time about it, Like what's what?

Speaker 3 (13:40):
What can I say on here?

Speaker 4 (13:40):
That's a.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
I gave me a hard time about it.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
I just like you have to feel so happy for
the stars on their team. Francisco Lindor made the swing
of a lifetime Grand Slam to send the Mets to
the NLCS. And it's weird because they've been labeled as
the underdog, but they have had the best record in
baseball since May thirtieth till the end of the regular season.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
They went sixty seven and forty during that time.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Like they're not an underdog beginning of the season, Like preseason,
you could say that, say like a twenty four percent
chance to make the playoffs. Last season, at the trade deadline,
they sold off all their big guys, and Steve Cohen
was saying, you know, we're in a quote rebuild year,
but like, you got so much young talent.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
I think that was so much young talent.

Speaker 5 (14:25):
That was the biggest part of this Met season was
going into it, nobody had expectations.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
About it, which also like it.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
Almod I was gonna say, it kind of gives the
sense of, all right, now we're just playing with house money,
nothing to lose, nothing to lose, who cares. We're playing
free target on matter like no target exactly, and it's
all right, pressure is off.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
Yeah, let's just see how far.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
We can take this thing. And you can see how
well these players are starting to play together. And again
you mentioned young roster. Yeah, they've made tough situations to
look easy, which is so not Mets like a usually
they make easy situations look tough. Ye, it's the exact opposite.
And that is I think what's so cool about this team.

(15:04):
And just like the way that they've clinched these series,
clinched the wild card birth, it's been almost magical.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
It really has.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
I mean it's been magical since I'm gonna say it again.
June twelfth, the day that they had Grimaced throw out.
The first pitch the Mets were.

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Was grimas like riding the subway to the game.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Yeah, car seat. Now at City Field they have a
purple Grimacy.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
Away car. It was all picked out for this.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Is like, it's insane.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
He has become like their unofficial mascot so has their
like OMG. One of their players came out with a
song called OMG and like played it after the game
and then it became like another one of their like
pump up good luck charms.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
But again, like, I think it's so funny too because
Mets fans like don't know what to do with this.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
No, we're used to the Mets metting. They are so
used to the Mets metting.

Speaker 5 (15:53):
And they are said, they're watching these games and these
these games come down to the wire and they're like, oh,
the Mets are gonna find somewhere.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
They're they're going to bet they're gonna screw this up.
But instead there are two stars. Pete Alonzo became the
ninth inning hero for the Mets in the wild Card game,
and then you have Franciscoo Lindor with the insane magical
home run moment to send him to.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
The striking out Kyle Schwarber.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Finally, I love it. I love that so much.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
This is going to be it's a rematch from the
nineteen eighty eight NLCS where the Dodgers went on to
win the World Series. Kirk Gibson, Huh, my dad still
talks about listening to that World Series win on the radio.
When I brought him to his first Angel game to
meet Mike Sosha, he went up to go like tell
him about it, and I was like, Dad, take a
deep breath, everything's going to be okay.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
We were literally just this past week we were out
to dinner, just having a bar hang my fiance and
I and wait, we got talking to the guy next
to us and he was talking about, you know, the
Dodgers and how exciting it is, and it feels, you know,
just as exciting as it did. He's like, I don't
know if you guys were here in nineteen eighty eight.
I'm like, we weren't alive in nineteen eighty eight, but
that's it. And he's like, I don't know if you
know like the call and he's never talking about I mean,

(17:03):
that's something that this legendary still And when I worked
for the Dodgers, the only reason I really know about
it again because I wasn't alive yet.

Speaker 7 (17:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
The reason I know about it is because when I
worked for the Dodgers in twenty thirteen, it's plastered up all.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Over there everywhere. Oh, it's that giant, insanely.

Speaker 5 (17:19):
With his fist up in the air rounding the bases
is like right outside the Dodgers slophouse.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
The first thing my dad like goes to tell Mike
Socio when I bring him to Angels is like I
remember laying my bed holding the radio listening to the call.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
I'm like, Dad, breathe.

Speaker 4 (17:32):
Everybody remembers where they were.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Everyone it was like it was like one of those
So I am so excited for this tomorrow. It's gonna
be why. I can't wait. We're gonna take a quick
break here, But when we come back, can the Jets
recover after firing their head coach? This week, you're listening
to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to listen.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live from the Tar
dot com studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending
your Saturday afternoon with Karmi and me, and what a
week it's been.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
I appreciate Chris keeping the vibes going even though his
Detroit Tigers.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Oh officially lost yet no, no officially.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Ay BYU.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
Game just came on where it was on the TV before.
So yeah, yeah, okay, the Guardians are facing the Yankees
in the ALCS. It was an incredible run. Though you
got to be impressed with what they did.

Speaker 8 (18:38):
It still hurts at the end because Tiger's always hurt.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (18:41):
I but as I've told people around, you're after twenty thirteen.
I think there was a part of me that died
and never really came back, which was that with the Verlander. No,
that was the Red Sox Alcs.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
That was like the Verlander trade.

Speaker 4 (18:54):
Well, as I.

Speaker 8 (18:55):
Said, I had PTSD when they gave up a Grand Slam.
Those two words mean something.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
You look at me.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
How the Lions have now changed the narrative around being
the Lions.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
Maybe the Tigers are just taking a little bit longer.

Speaker 8 (19:05):
So you just you know, well, now they have to
spend money, which is something that Ilich's son has refused
to do.

Speaker 9 (19:11):
I had someone from Chicago. I know exactly what you're
talking about. Yeah, it's a white Sox man, it's brutal. Okay,
we got a little moment for this. We'll dive deeper
into it at the top of the second hour. But
big news this week, you guys, was that the Jets
fired their head coaches Robert Sala after their loss in London.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
He was escorted out of the building, which could have
been taken out of contact. It makes you wonder was
he resisting leaving? Was this just the normal, like when
an employee gets fired on site, they're escorted out of
the building. But I have some questions like who knew
this was coming? And how involved was Aaron Rodgers in
this decision, because he made it clear that he wasn't.

(19:52):
But I find it hard to believe that he didn't
know anything. And it's kind of insane if you actually
think about it, that you're not going to tell your
franchise quarterback that you're making this big of a move
or that it could potentially happen. And Jet's owner Woody
Johnson even said him and Rogers spoke on Monday but.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
Never talked about Sola.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
But if this is the biggest new that's gonna happen
the next day, there is absolutely no way because that
doesn't bring up like what, No, that's a lie.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
That is a flat out lie.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
You're you're talking to your star franchise quarterback that you
just gave everything to, you rolled out the red carpet,
You've literally put all of your money into Aaron Rodgers,
and you're talking to him the Monday night before you
decide to fire the head coach on Tuesday morning, and
you're telling me that you didn't bring it up once

(20:42):
or even tell him about it or give him a
heads up or ask his opinion on it.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
It's there are so many things that are just like
it should have, would it could have at this point
for the New York Jets. But I mean, there's absolutely
no way that that was not brought up and discussed.
There's absolutely no way that Aaron Rodgers is sad about
this happening, because, like we go back, and I mean,

(21:08):
actions just speak louder than the words. I know that
they downplayed every single interaction that we saw, you know,
back during training care, training camp, even before that in
mini camp.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
No, when your head coach.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Does not cover for you and say that you have
an unexcused absence as the quarterback from mini camp, like
that tells me everything I need to know because the
amount of things that teams sweep under the rug or
cover for their players if they are all in together
and they actually have a good relationship, is astronomical. Like,
I don't think anybody realizes how crazy the NFL actually

(21:42):
is when it comes to what actually happens. So there
is absolutely no way that there was not some sort
of inclination that Rogers wanted this to happen. Woody Johnson
calls and says, hey, this didn't work out, what do
we need to do? Yeah. The irony of all of
this is that there's a lot of reports that this
had to do with Robert Sala wanting to demote Nathaniel

(22:03):
Hackett take away play calling play calling duties from him,
and then the Jets fire Sala and they still demote
Nathaniel Packett. But my other thing too is I don't
know how much that even matters at this point because
Aaron Rodgers changes, first of all, Matt Lafleur when he
was still a Packer, yeh copped to Aaron Rodgers changing

(22:24):
thirty percent of the place. Yeah, double that? Yeah at
least Yeah, if the organization itself is copping to thirty percent, like,
there's just there's no way that it's not more than that.
So Aaron Rodgers is probably just kind of doing what
he needs to do, and there's nothing wrong with that.
If you are on the same page as the rest

(22:44):
of your receivers, you've been in this system for a while,
they're used to you. There is an incredible amount of
intricacy that comes with playing receiver for Aaron Rodgers and
being one of his offensive weapons rusted. There are so
many different checks, There are so many differentiations and signals
and signs and everything that you need to have down

(23:04):
because Aaron Rodgers is one of the best diagnosing quarterbacks
we have, given the fact he's been in the league
for twenty years. Yeah, you he knows exactly what he's
looking at, and so he will change not only plays,
like all quarterbacks will audible when they get to the
line if they see something from the defense, Rogers will
legitimately change individual proponents of a play. That's not changing
the entire play. He's just telling someone else. Tom Brady

(23:26):
used to this too, would just tell one of his receivers, yeah,
you know you're supposed to run a seven, Go run
a nine route now because I see this, that and
the other.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
If you're not used to that, it doesn't work.

Speaker 5 (23:36):
Yeah, and that's why I don't think like whoever the
play caller is really matters at this point.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
No, it's Rogers.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
I just the whole thing just.

Speaker 5 (23:44):
Reeks, because we've just seen over and over again that
Robert Sala and Aaron Rodgers is not get along.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
No dude.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
The Rogers push of Sala on the sidelines as he
was like trying to come close like a couple of
weeks ago, Like everyone's like, not a big deal.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
I'm like, that's a big deal. The look on his face,
that is a big deal.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
We'll die a little deeper into that later because we
have Jets Team reporter joining us in our two. But
right now, let's check in with Brian Fenley and see
what's trendings.

Speaker 7 (24:08):
Alex and Carmen. It is official.

Speaker 10 (24:10):
The Cleveland Guardians are your winners Game five alds against
the Tigers seven to three. So the Guardians are on
to take on the New York Yankees.

Speaker 7 (24:19):
Should be a really interesting series.

Speaker 3 (24:20):
You're series to lose.

Speaker 7 (24:21):
It's the Yankees, yes, no question. You've also got the Mets.

Speaker 10 (24:25):
They're going to be taking on the Dodgers out west,
and that's in the NL. But as far as college
football is concerned. We have a couple of marquee matchups
taking place right now. Low scoring affair with actually Quinn,
you are just throwing a touchdown, a seven yard score,
extra point pending.

Speaker 7 (24:42):
It's six to three.

Speaker 10 (24:43):
Number one Texas well at extra point penning against Number
eighteen Oklahoma eleven twenty to go in the second quarter.

Speaker 7 (24:48):
That is the Red River rivalry.

Speaker 10 (24:51):
Early in the second quarter, Number four Penn State has
the football, but they're down by eleven, fourteen to three
at usc a team that is coming off a loss
at Minnesota last week. Stanford is on the board, but
number eleven Notre Dame ads on his score. It's fourteen
to seven with the cardinal possessing the football midway through

(25:11):
the second quarter. There earlier Number one, excuse me, Number
twenty one Missouri actsing UMass forty five to three. Number
ten Clemston Boston around wake Forest forty nine to fourteen.
K club Nick the Tigers quarterback three hundred and nine
yards passing in three scores. Number seven Alabama twenty seven
to twenty five against South Carolina.

Speaker 7 (25:34):
What a game it was.

Speaker 10 (25:35):
Because South Carolina scored a late touchdown, they went for
the two point conversion, they could not get it. They
went for the on sidekick, they got it, and then
with about forty seconds or so ago, they were inside
Alabama territory. But as I work it back to you,
Carmen and Alyx, it was an interception.

Speaker 7 (25:53):
It's not supposed to work.

Speaker 5 (25:54):
It's not supposed to work like that. It's not supposed
to work like that. If you recover an on side's kick,
you're supposed to win.

Speaker 7 (26:00):
Yeah, imagine being a great Caroline of fan.

Speaker 5 (26:03):
No, I mean I held out because it's Bama and
at the end of the day, again it's Bama. But
so I wasn't getting like two my hopes up too
much that South Carolina was gonna able to knock them off,
especially given like college football doesn't want their darlings to
But like I just I can't imagine a Nick Saban
team being this chaotic, so that at least we have that,

(26:23):
at least we have that that at least Bama is chaotic.

Speaker 7 (26:26):
He got out of there right in the nick of time.

Speaker 10 (26:27):
I feel like just just because he knew I think
what was coming with this scene.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
Of course.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
Oh yeah, all right, thank you, Brian.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
You's a good job on the Red River rivalry. I
can't say you've done so much better than I just.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Slower the bat the Red Red River. Right, you're Lizina
Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitali.
We are broadcasting live from the Tyrock dot Com studios
in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon
with us, But it is time for our first guest.
She is one of the best in the game. I
had the honor of spending a decade with her on
the sidelines. MLB Networks a lot of rizza. Oh are

(27:02):
we here? We have her?

Speaker 11 (27:04):
Hello, Hello, Hello.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
Alana.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
Oh my goodness that game last night. You spent a
lot of time with this Dodgers team. They're heading back
to the NLCS for the first time since twenty twenty one.
What impressed you most about that huge game five Dodgers
win last night.

Speaker 11 (27:24):
Well, first of all, it's great to be with both
of you ladies today. We can no longer say OMG
though until after the message truly, that's fair.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
That's fair.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
That's on the list of no goes.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Yay, Okay, yeah, I've been told I was just I
just got got.

Speaker 11 (27:42):
As far as what I took away from the series,
Let's start with Game four. After Game three, I was
pretty critical actually what I perceived to be a lack
of fire in the Los Angeles Dodgers and almost kind
of like a concession, like, you know what, Game three
is over, We're going to look forward to Game four.
And this was even before layofter Hernandez, who the Dodgers

(28:03):
need to resign and extend by the way, before he
hit the Grand Slam. So I was a little bit
disheartened by that, but they completely changed my mind in
Game four, and I have to give credit to where
credit is due. Dave Roberts managed the hell out of
Game four. In Game five, every single thing he did
was spot on in terms of what they needed to do,

(28:24):
the way that he managed that bullpen, the way that
he puts the lineup together. I was incredibly impressed with
and what I've been screaming at the top of the
rooftops for is Keith k Hernandez to be in every
single lineup in the postseason, and you continue to see
why and the way that they were able to come
through in Game four again with the fire, with the

(28:45):
right moves, with the great managing with the lineup, the
production from the bottom of the order, and then that
transitioned into Game five, where they only scored two runs,
but it was all that they needed. And again love
having Kik in the lineup. Dave did a beautiful job
with the bullpen. And I also want to give credit
to Yamamoto. I had not seen what I needed to
see from him. I mean, having only pitched ninety innings

(29:08):
this season, you know, wanting to go on an extra
day's rest. I thought I was going to see more
of what we saw when he pitched in New York,
but it ended up being I saw more of what
he pitched like when they were in Korea. But he
did a tremendous job yesterday, and I was very critical
of him. So I think that he came up big

(29:28):
when they needed him most, and he was at his
best when they needed him the most. And now they're
heading to the Championship Series want it.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
The Dodgers come into the playoffs as a one seed.
They have that time off. They are trying to buck
the narrative that that matters, that they can't come back
from having those days of rest. There seemingly is a
lot of pressure on the Dodgers then to perform, and
yet you have Key k Hernandez going out there and saying,
we don't give a you know what?

Speaker 4 (29:56):
What allows them.

Speaker 5 (29:57):
To kind of play so free and ignore all of
the pressure and the noise and and really withstand especially
all the injuries and the pitching rotation.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
How what is it? What are the vibes there that
they love? Leadership? Who's the driving force in that?

Speaker 2 (30:13):
Well?

Speaker 11 (30:14):
I always needs to be on roster in the lineup
and a huge part of a postseason performance. Because k
K now has more home runs than several of the
games is great that have played before him as far
as is concerned, and.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
We were, Maggie, it's.

Speaker 11 (30:30):
What you know, KYK breaks to a lineup, it's just
something special. I mean, there's a fire that he brings in,
an energy that he brings as was evidence obviously by
the language in the game. After Alex Rodriguez, then Miguel
Cabrera and then Schipper Jones, and Miguel and Schipper are
Hall of famers, So I have to say that he

(30:52):
gets the Hall of Fame player, but he gets the
Hall of Fame post season player. And to look at
what that energy brings and it just kind of of
trickles down for the rest of the team. And I
actually was interviewing Matt tempt about three weeks ago after
they retired, you know, he retired as a doctor, and
they had to Matt kemp say at Dodger Stadium, and
he said, the reason that some of those teams that

(31:13):
Matt was on was were so successful is because of
the energy and the aura that Keka brought. So glad
that he was in the lineup, and it paid massive dividends.
And the thing is too, you know, the Dodgers are
always under pressure. The Doctor's season doesn't start till October first.
They're supposed to win the division every year. So if

(31:33):
you win one hundred and sixty two games and go
one sixty two and oh, if you can't advance deep
into the postseason, the season's a failure. And getting over
the Division Series and getting over that hump and getting
that proverbial monkey off of their back was so huge
and now there's no reason that they can't go to
the World Series.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
I really believe that.

Speaker 11 (31:53):
I felt like if they got passed this turtle and
get credit to the Padres, they're a very good team,
but I felt like if they could get passed to
there's nothing stopping this came out.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
It really is, and it's become one of the more
like beautiful rivalries as of late. But when you were
talking about energy, another player that I noticed in preseason
that really brought a different energy was Taoscar Hernandez and
it was with Shoeo Tani.

Speaker 3 (32:16):
He I think was the first one to kind.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Of like break that barrier and have Otani kind of
come out of his shell. You could see it on
social media, you could see it in the dugout. They
really developed this really beautiful friendship. And Tayo was my
player to watch on this team before the season started
and might have been one of the most underrated editions
this offseason. What is he meant for this Dodgers team

(32:38):
leading in and especially this postseason.

Speaker 11 (32:41):
Well, he's definitely been the X factor for me for
this series and he's also been, in my opinion, the Dodgers'
MVP of the season. I realized that show Heyo Tani
is going to be the National League MVP because he's
creating categories that have never been created before. But as
far as the team is concerned, they asked for. Hernandez
has put this team on his back and it was
the best by far one year signing from any team

(33:03):
in the off season having to asked for. Hernandez, who
wanted to play in LA would have had by year
Deil's other places, but wanted to be a member of
the Los Angeles Dodgers because he knew there was something
special going on there and the friendship and that he
has cultivated with show Hey and Alex. You know show
Hay very well. You covered him as al So he's
a very different guy now in a Dodgers uniform. That yeah,

(33:26):
so he's a different player. He's starting to show his personality.
I think there's a number of reasons for why that's happening,
but I think that Taoster is just invaluable and what
he brings not only to a lineup, not only to
the offense, you know, particularly to the bottom of the order,
but just what he brings as far as a clubhouse
and Doug out vibe. So he definitely was my X

(33:47):
factor for the series, and I he's certainly my team
MVP for this year.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
Same, I'm so happy for him.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
Before we let you go real quick and I'LCS starts tomorrow,
Mets at Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
What is your prediction? Who's taking it in? How many games?

Speaker 6 (34:02):
Well?

Speaker 11 (34:02):
I think I think it's going to go to five.

Speaker 6 (34:04):
I think.

Speaker 11 (34:05):
I mean, I really like the the Mets pitching staff.
I think, you know, because they're a lot healthier than
the Dodgers are. Unfortunately, but the Dodgers never get a pass, right.
Nobody feels sorry for them, nor should they. With that
payroll and the ability to get those types of players,
No one's going to feel sorry for LA. But I
do think the Dodgers take it in five. It's huge

(34:25):
that they have home field, so all those you know,
those those pivotal games one, three, and five, those types
of things, you know, have seven games. Rather, I apologize
the seven game series, so you know, so.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
It's what is it?

Speaker 12 (34:37):
Two?

Speaker 6 (34:37):
Three to two?

Speaker 11 (34:38):
However that goes, But yeah, I'm going to say Dodgers
take it. I'm still going to say five, even though
it's a seven game series.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
I love it so much. Alana, thank you so much
for joining the show. I enjoy everything this postseason.

Speaker 4 (34:52):
We love you. Thanks a long Wow.

Speaker 11 (34:54):
I love you guys too.

Speaker 6 (34:54):
Thanks Alex.

Speaker 11 (34:55):
Great to see you both. Thank you guys.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
Always all right, guys, and we come back. It is

Welcome back to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from the Tar
dot com studios in Los Angeles.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Thank you for spending your Saturday afternoon with us.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
One of the best sports Saturdays of the season.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
It's great. Shout out.

Speaker 5 (35:29):
I need to give a shout out to my two friends,
Robert Tapling and going to be Just Tapling. I was
supposed to be at their wedding in Wisconsin this weekend,
but it just it. It wasn't because of all of
the stuff going on. It's just weddings on a Saturday
during football season just don't work with my schedule, don't
work with my fiance.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
It's got to be a Friday.

Speaker 5 (35:48):
It's got to be a Friday, your home and time
to see today should be literally saying their vows like
right now, so I just want shout them out.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
Congrats. Sorry I can't be there, guys. I grew up
with Rob. I've known him so I was eight years old.
So love you guys.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
This is fitting.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
Don't have your wedding on a Saturday during football season.
It is time we dues and the don'ts and sports highlight.

Speaker 7 (36:11):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
And putting a spotlight on the don't the subject brings
me no joy.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
That's insane.

Speaker 7 (36:18):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts in sports.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
I like that we like started it with like a
personal do don't. I'm going to start with the do
do be a good sport. After the Yankees beat Kansas
City to advance to the ALCS, Bobby wit Junior stayed
alone in the dugout to watch the Yankees celebration and
after I think they took the team photos, John Carlos
santon Saw went over to Bobby wit Junior and just

(36:45):
like gave him a hug, showed him some respect. I mean,
he is the future, he's the Royals All Star and
I just I love that.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
I really respect much.

Speaker 5 (36:53):
I like that he's also burning into his brain, like yeah,
ship Bobby got to that in the Super Bowl, Kansa
a Chiefs and pulled up Eagles, and I remember I
was in the press box and just saw him just
staying on the field staring.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
He has I think he.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Had it at his background as his phone, with him
sitting there with a Chiefs consent.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
Hey, maybe actual motivation, however, you can if you're if
you're an elite athlete.

Speaker 4 (37:16):
All right, speaking of football, guys, do be one. Do
be a football guy.

Speaker 11 (37:21):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (37:22):
Dan Campbell, head coach the Detroit Lions, came out this
week and told this story about center Frank Ragnow who
tore his pack, partially tore his pack, and I was like,
this man's gonna miss one game. Watch he's coming back
this week after the Lions by they had and so
he literally only missed one week of the season. Frank

(37:42):
Ragnow is otherworldly. And you want to know how he
told Dan Campbell that he was ready to go. How
Dan Campbell said he was in the hallway and all
of a sudden, someone just shoves him against the wall.
It's Frank Ragnow, and then he punches him again. He's like,
look and then to say I'm fine.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
Look at how strong I am. I could go out
there and play.

Speaker 12 (38:00):
Oh, I love that.

Speaker 5 (38:00):
Absolutootball guy Frank rag now Is is an offensive Lineman's
like just he's the picture of a center and I
absolutely adore him. He's an amazing person and he's talk
as all get out.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
Love that, love it, love that. Okay do dream Big
is mine.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Caitlin Clark, the WNBA Rookie of the Year, is set
to play in the LPGA Pro Am at the Anika.
She is an avid golfer and it's a good.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
Skill to have. I wish I spent six years in Florida.
I still don't want to go what okay?

Speaker 2 (38:33):
So I was really I was really lucky. My mom
was a golfer like she, like I grew up at
bel Air Country Club and women weren't allowed to play
when she was a kid, so she would literally sneak
her hair up in a hat and like go and
play with my pop up. So like, golf was like
a very big part of our lives.

Speaker 4 (38:50):
I've learned.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
I had like the little kid clubs at like four
years old, So I learned very early on.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
I am a great golfer, so is my sister. And
we made it a point.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
To like keep up with it, cart I just don't
have like the I like doing nine howks Like I'm
just gonna be honest.

Speaker 4 (39:05):
Yeah, eighteen is a long day much for me.

Speaker 5 (39:07):
The only golf course I have ever golfed was a
literal PGA course in Chicago called Cockhill. It was when
I was entering for the Chicago White Sox and.

Speaker 4 (39:16):
They were like, no, everybody should play, and I'm like,
you don't understand. I'm terrible.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
There was a lot of drinking involved too, So.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
The back nine if not the fun part.

Speaker 5 (39:24):
Right, the back nine was not. Yeah, there was a
lot of balls in lakes all right. Mine's actually kind
of goes along with dreaming big. Okay, do make her
story not history.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (39:37):
Jessica Campbell officially became the NHL's first female coach when
she took to the bench for the Utah Hockey Club
against my Chicago black Hawks and the season opener.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
So my black Hawks couldn't get the win. I'm going
to be a better fan this year, by the way,
I am.

Speaker 5 (39:50):
My black Hawks couldn't get the win. I'm really really
glad that that Soupie did her. Her nickname is SOUPI
last name Campbell, get it. Everybody has nicknames in hockey.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
I absolutely do it. Go Jess.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
Yeah, that was awesome.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
Wrap it up with do celebrate with your family after
scoring your touchdown, Kittle and use Check went over to
the sidelines, jumped into the crowd to celebrate with their
wives and they like grabbed onto them and how it
was just beautiful.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
We just we love love and we love like breaking
down barriers.

Speaker 2 (40:14):
All right, when we come back. Can the Mangles turn
their season around? Can the Vikings keep it rolling? We're
playing a fun game. You're listening to a Fox Sports radio.
Welcome to our two Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry
here with Carmen Vitally. Thank you for spending your Saturday
afternoon with Carmeie and me on one of the most
epic sports days I think probably top college football Saturday

(40:40):
of the season. Like we've been talking about this all show.
It's also October twelfth, right, thus today is like one
of the most.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
Popular wedding days.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
Of the year, yes, but also the most incredible college
football day.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
And for months it's been talked about which do you choose?
I don't know. We're doing both.

Speaker 5 (41:02):
Today again, Like if you think that the brand and
groom are going to be mad at you for watching
a game on your phone during their wedding at all, then.

Speaker 4 (41:10):
You gotta skip it.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
Uh huh.

Speaker 4 (41:12):
But again I've got a brand.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
Yeah, am you skipped.

Speaker 4 (41:17):
Nice this?

Speaker 3 (41:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (41:18):
I did, but not because of this.

Speaker 5 (41:19):
It was because the wedding was in Wisconsin, so I'd
have to fly to Chicago drive to Wisconsin. Yeah, and
on a Saturday during football season. It just doesn't work
for me like it would have been on a Friday.
I would have gone, that's okay.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
But the good news is we're here. We have had
some incredible games. Just happy USC's up seventeen six over
number four Penn State right now. I was invited to
that game this afternoon, but obviously I love being here
with you guys.

Speaker 3 (41:42):
So here we are and we're watching it instead, which
I love. It's been a day.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
Can I also say, like a little off topic here,
there's been a meme that's been taking over our day.

Speaker 3 (41:50):
Carmen. You posted it earlier, and it's been now sent.

Speaker 2 (41:53):
To me four different times by my husband and friends
and family members because everybody knows and the meme is
to this day, it bothers me greatly if the TV's
volume isn't set to an even number or multiples of five.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
Yeah, I'm a multiple five, how many I'm an even number.

Speaker 2 (42:08):
I cannot get comfortable in any situation if the volume
or like anything that I'm.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
Putting on numbers, like the air conditioning, any kind of editing.

Speaker 5 (42:17):
Right, if I not control over what I'm setting it
to me an even number, I try again. I'm a
multiple of five, girly, but that's not always possible. And
so like if it's you know, it's just too loud
or it's too quiet, whatever, so I will I have,
But then I default even numbers. But it always has
to be I literally told you Alex off Air that
I wanted to like move my wedding up to twenty

(42:38):
twenty five just so I could have an anniversary. I'm
not doing that about that crazy, but I mean, why not?
It would be great to have like your yeah, five, ten, fifteen,
twenty year anniversary. Ye, you know, lining up on multiples
of five. He would scratch my brain in such a.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
Good I love that. That makes me think of dominoes. Oh yeah,
because everything's in fives.

Speaker 2 (42:58):
We love we love bones that's like when our favorite
games to play and backgammon.

Speaker 3 (43:01):
All right, we are.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
We have Jets team reporter Caroline Hendershot joining us in
about thirty minutes to give us the inside scoop on
the vibes in the building since they fired their head coach, Robert.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
Sala this week.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
Who We've got questions and I'm excited to just kind
of get a vibe check.

Speaker 5 (43:30):
Yeah, that's a firing a head coach when you have
when the Jets themselves and aspiration.

Speaker 3 (43:36):
And you're not having a horrible season. It's not going
the way you expect.

Speaker 5 (43:40):
No, it's not like you're win list and the defense
is top five in every major defensive metric.

Speaker 3 (43:46):
It's it's just mind blowing.

Speaker 5 (43:48):
I don't there's no precedent for uh inter around head
coach taking over and then making the playoffs. And this
is like the expectation the Jets, the expectation they have
of themselves is super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (44:00):
Yeah. I think it needed to happen. I just die.
I don't know why it happened.

Speaker 3 (44:05):
Now we'll get we'll talk to Caroline. Yeah, in just
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (44:09):
But let's kick off our two with a game we
called can they Can they keep it going or can
they turn it around? So we're gonna start with the
Bengals season. Can they turn it around? Because this has
been one of the most shocking and disappointing starts to
a season, one in four, bottom of the AFC North,

(44:30):
worst start to Joe Burrow's career, and especially when you
have one of the elite quarterbacks in the league, Joe Burrow,
who hasn't been playing poorly?

Speaker 4 (44:40):
Are you kidding?

Speaker 5 (44:41):
He's been playing out of his mind. They out of
his mind out. You cannot put any of this Burrow,
It can't.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
But it's just the defense just cannot cannot hold it.
And it's weird because Big lou is a great defensive
coordinator in Big Louie Trust. But they are thirty four
in points allowed per game Banthers the only team that's worse,
and twenty six in yards allowed per game.

Speaker 3 (45:06):
They've only had six sacks all season.

Speaker 4 (45:09):
I just it's just it's second worse in the league.

Speaker 2 (45:14):
It's tough because all four of their losses, remember, have
been one score game, so they've been in it.

Speaker 3 (45:20):
They have been.

Speaker 2 (45:21):
They should have been able to win at least three
of those four losses. So I mean, can they turn
it around? Can they turn it around? They have to,
they have to, but they are they're not. Only is
Joe Burrow playing out of his mind again, tops or
top three in every major quarterback statistic that matters. Then

(45:44):
you have Jamar Chase has leads the league with two
hundred and thirty four yards after the catch. He has
four or ninety three receiving yards, which is second in
the league. And then you have t Higgins two, who
you know, got a slow start to the season but
has made up for that. You're gonna have the opportunity
for a get game against these New York Giants.

Speaker 4 (46:01):
Yeah, you are getting Here's the big thing that I think.

Speaker 5 (46:04):
Matters for the defense in particular, because the defense is
thirty first and third down rate. They have, like you said,
they're worse than the league when it comes to getting pressure,
getting sacks. It's not good and the Giants have not
a great offensive line, so you should have an opportunity
to here. What matters I think here is the Bengals
defense lost DJ Reader. I think that was such an
underrated loss for them because it's been an underrated addition

(46:27):
for the Detroit Lions. You are getting Sheldon Rankins back
on the interior of that defensive line. That should, hopefully,
I don't know if it'll happen for this game, necessarily
because he's just coming back from.

Speaker 4 (46:36):
Injury, but.

Speaker 5 (46:38):
It should open things up for Trey Hendrickson, who is
one of the best defensive ends in the league. He
has not been as effective, but it's because he is
literally doing this by himself. He cannot offensive lines set
their protections to him. They make sure to account for him.
He's getting double teamed on every single snap. I mean
that's hyperbole, but hoping that when you add Seldon Rankins

(47:03):
back into the mix here that that will open some
things up. He'll command some attention on the interior. That'll
give Trey Hendrickson more one on ones, more favorable matchups
so that he can go out there and win and
get to the quarterback, get to Daniel Jones, get to
Daniel Jones.

Speaker 4 (47:18):
You have to win this game.

Speaker 3 (47:19):
I mean I think the next time.

Speaker 4 (47:21):
This is why wins are in a quarterback stat.

Speaker 2 (47:22):
By the way, Yeah, but I think the next two
games are must wins at Giants tomorrow, You're at Brown's next.

Speaker 4 (47:28):
Weekend and must win mode until further notice.

Speaker 2 (47:31):
You need to win and move up in the division.
I mean, then you have Eagles at home, winnable Raiders
at home, Like, can they turn it around? I think
they can, but it starts tomorrow. If they don't tomorrow,
then it becomes more of a mental breakdown.

Speaker 3 (47:46):
I think of just no.

Speaker 4 (47:49):
I mean, you don't win tomorrow, you don't win tomorrow,
you're out of the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (47:51):
You're done.

Speaker 4 (47:52):
You're done.

Speaker 3 (47:52):
You're done, You're done.

Speaker 5 (47:54):
And you are wasting an incredible performance by Joe Burrow
and his top receivers.

Speaker 4 (48:00):
And this offense in general. Yeah, it's.

Speaker 5 (48:04):
Again the biggest, the biggest example of why wins are
not a quarterback stat, because if wins were, if wins
only mattered on the quarterback, yeah, this team would be Oh.

Speaker 3 (48:14):
He said, his top three in all major quarterbacks.

Speaker 5 (48:17):
All major quarterback metrics that matter. Yeah, like EPA per play.
He's got the most touchdowns of the passing touchdowns of anybody.
He's being extraordinarily productive. This team is averaging around thirty
points a game. That should be enough.

Speaker 3 (48:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (48:30):
When you are averaging.

Speaker 5 (48:31):
Almost thirty points a game, that should be enough and
this defense is giving up more than.

Speaker 3 (48:36):
That, Yeah, that's not good. Okay, let's switch gears.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
To a positive. The Vikings. Who can they keep it going?
The Vikings have been red hot five and zero. Only
two teams still undefeated. That's the Vikings and the Chiefs.
And this has been an incredible come back year for
Sam Darnold, the best season of his career. He's tied
for a second in PAS touchdowns, seventh and pass the ratings.

Speaker 3 (49:02):
I mean, he hasn't been.

Speaker 2 (49:03):
A full time starter in years and didn't have success
as a full time starter when he was with the
Jets or with the Panthers, and was the backup for
the forty nine ers last year.

Speaker 3 (49:12):
One of the two teams. It's almost like a rehab
for players.

Speaker 2 (49:15):
I think the other teams, the Rams when they go
to these teams, as we saw with Baker Mayfield when
he went and was the backup for the Rams. You
kind of get this like resurgence. You're under a great
coaching staff as well, So can they keep this up?
Can the Vikings keep it up? They have a bye
this week, but then the next game back home against
the Lions is gonna be a big, a big test.

Speaker 3 (49:37):
They will be great.

Speaker 2 (49:37):
But they did beat San Francisco Anne Houston, which was
also I think like yeah true, and Green Bay.

Speaker 3 (49:45):
I think they can keep this going.

Speaker 2 (49:49):
Next four games or home versus Lions, at Rams, versus
Colts at Jags, they have a chance to easily at
least take two of those.

Speaker 3 (50:00):
Pssibly three. But they look good. Everything is clicking.

Speaker 5 (50:05):
They look unstoppable at this point. I mean you look
at just the totality of the team in general. Like
Sam Donald, I think is one of the most pleasant
surprises of this season. He's again another example that we
see that initial situation for a quarterback, no matter what,
like when they're taking what's like that matters so much.

Speaker 2 (50:23):
The team, the coach, the coach, the weapons, stry between
the coach and the quarterback.

Speaker 5 (50:27):
Everything matters like in the initial and we've seen it
now in so many like Baker Mayfield's another example, even
Jared Goff to an extent, there's so much that matters initially,
and Sam Donald is just the latest that we've seen.
He's under Kevin O'Connell, who I think is one of
the best coaches in the league all purpose. He's one

(50:48):
of the best offensive play callers in the league, and
he's in it the best tandem of play callers in
the league, and that is with Brian Flores, who just
put this Jets offensive line in a blender in London.
Aaron Rodgers himself talked on the McAfee show this week
just about all the stuff that Brian Flores was doing,

(51:09):
especially on those early downs, and the fact that there
was there's so much shifting and changing. I like in
Brian Flora's defense to like an amiba because it doesn't
have a shape, it doesn't have tendencies. And it's the
reason for that is there's so much autonomy placed in
the hands of players to be able to basically act
like an offense out there where if whatever they're seeing,

(51:31):
they have the solution to the problems that they're facing themselves.
So Brian Flores can call one thing and Harrison Smith,
veteran safety, goes you know what, I see this guy
creeping up here. I think he's going to account for this.
We should switch into that they have the freedom to
do that, and it's what makes them so difficult to
go against. And not to mention, you have all of
these players in these very in that don't act like

(51:54):
they should in the traditional sense of their roles, like
you have the corners. I think Aaron Aaron Rodgers mentioned
this too, But something I noticed very early on in
the season, Brian Flores will ask his corners to go
cover deep habs of the field instead of just staying
on the outside and dropping, you know, too high shell
with safeties. He's creating two high shells with corners, or
he's having defensive ends and outside linebackers drop into coverage. Yeah,

(52:16):
Andrew Van Gingkle was like the best addition for this defense,
and he was the one that got the pick six
against Rogers that was just the fifth of Rogers'.

Speaker 4 (52:23):
Twenty year career. That's insane, insane. He doesn't throw pick sixes.

Speaker 5 (52:27):
So these two things working together, and this far into
the season, it's not a fluke if they can go
against anyone. At this point, they are in one of
the toughest divisions in the league. The NFC North has
every single team in the NFC North has a winning
record right now, so they're going to cannibalize themselves a
little bit they have to. But Minnesota, I mean, again,

(52:51):
I can't say enough about how much they believe in
each other, how well this team is playing together on
both sides of the ball, and special teams.

Speaker 4 (52:57):
For that matter.

Speaker 5 (52:59):
They are are I mean top five in EPA per
play on offense. Their offensive line is playing great and
I think very very underrated between those two tackles and
Christian Dearrisa and Brian O'Neill, it's they're on their buy
too right now. So we're going to see if maybe
down the stretch that that that works to their detriment
given how early it is.

Speaker 2 (53:19):
But and also coming back to face division rival Lions
at home, who are also like.

Speaker 5 (53:24):
I literally wrote this week for Fox sports dot com
that the Minnesota Vikings are the best team in football
right now.

Speaker 3 (53:30):
Who they are. I mean, it's them and the Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (53:33):
They're the only on beans and it doesn't look easy
with the Chiefs. It looks easy with the Vikings right now.
I'm not saying that like that comes super Bowl time.
That's that's whatever.

Speaker 4 (53:41):
I'm not. I'm not worried.

Speaker 3 (53:42):
About the Ships. Did you pick Vikings too?

Speaker 10 (53:44):
No?

Speaker 2 (53:45):
I actually picked I picked the Lions and the like
I know you picked an.

Speaker 4 (53:48):
An NFC or a team. No.

Speaker 5 (53:49):
No, No one would have seen this coming with the
with the Minnesota Vikings. But I'm glad it is because again,
I can't say enough about Kevin O'Connell Brian Florres as coaches.

Speaker 4 (53:56):
They're doing a phenomenal job.

Speaker 2 (53:57):
I think it's also insanely underrated to have two head
coaches on your team, like with your offensive coator that
was a very recent head coach, which kind of leads
us to this next.

Speaker 3 (54:07):
Can they Jaden Daniels, can he keep it going?

Speaker 2 (54:10):
Another team that has an offensive coordinator that was recently
a head coach like cause that to have two minds
to head coaches minds, even if you're not titled head coach,
like you know what it takes to take this team
to that level. So Jaden Daniels, can he keep it going?
Since his Welcome to the NFL game, which I think

(54:31):
is when he beat the Bengals and had the ninety
one point three percent completion.

Speaker 5 (54:36):
Yeah, say, welcome to the NFL game, meaning like, oh,
you got lit up and this is how hard it is.
That's usually the connotation that that comes. Yeah, No, but
this is that's completely this is completely different. This is
the other side.

Speaker 2 (54:47):
This is the I mean, his completion percentage to the
first four games was eighty two point one percent. That
was the highest completion percentage for any player in their
first four games of a season.

Speaker 3 (54:57):
Like what he is doing.

Speaker 2 (54:59):
And again, like we knew there was potential for him
to be great, but right out of the gates, all
of the conversations were around Caleb. So I think it
almost helped Jayden Daniels that like he did not have
that target on his back, he did not have the
spotlight on him, even though he was reigning Heisman winner.
Came from a great program at LSU and working with
a former head coach as his offensive coordinator in Cliff Kingsbury.

(55:23):
But there was so much new with the Commanders that
I don't think anybody really knew exactly what to expect, No.

Speaker 5 (55:30):
And there wasn't, to be quite frank, going into the season,
there wasn't a whole lot of talent, and you really
I think what Cliff Kingsbury did so beautifully is there
was a big joke that the Commanders are running a
college offense.

Speaker 4 (55:43):
YadA, yah, YadA. That's not the case.

Speaker 5 (55:45):
But what Cliff Kingsbury has done for Jaden Daniels is
mess the college game with the NFL game smart very
well and eased Jayden Daniels into this season. He wasn't
asking a whole lot out of Jayden Daniels in those
first four to five games through the In the first
four weeks, I believe Jane Daniels was fortieth or forty
first in average depth of target, so he's not throwing

(56:07):
the ball down the field.

Speaker 4 (56:08):
He was only an average of six point nine air yards.

Speaker 5 (56:11):
So he's just trying to get him those Cliff Kingsbury's
just trying to get Jane Daniels comfortable, get him those
high completion percentage throws, make sure that he has the
confidence to keep going. And then now over the last
couple of weeks, you've seen Jayden open things up or
Cliff Kingsbury more accurately open things up. Jane's pushing the

(56:31):
ball down the field more. And what is most encouraging
for me and why I think that Jane Daniels can
keep this up for the rest of the season is
because we're seeing an evolution from even when he played
for LSU last year. My biggest concern with Jane Daniels
coming into this season was, all Right, I know that
he can scramble around and do all these wonderful things,
but at LSU he would scramp, he would tuck his

(56:52):
head down and then just get those extra yards with
his legs and run.

Speaker 4 (56:55):
Jane Daniels is not.

Speaker 3 (56:56):
That big of a guy, not for the NFL.

Speaker 5 (56:58):
I was very concerned that when you scramble around as
an NFL quarterback, the goal is to look for additional
throwing lanes to still make a play with your arm.
Can you throw on the run, can you be accurate?
Can you recognize those guys? Can you get on the
same page with your receivers. That is what I was
looking for for Jade Daniels. He's doing that so early on,
and that is not something he did at LSU. I

(57:20):
watched every single snap of his last year for LSU,
and that was the biggest thing that concerned me, was
if you scramble, can you find throwing lanes? Because I
don't want you taking those hits. And even in preseason,
we saw him do that and his coaches get on
him for doing that. He has now evolved his game
and he is throwing on the run. He's being very accurate,

(57:41):
he's making good decisions, he is not putting the ball
in harm's way.

Speaker 4 (57:45):
That is something that is so encouraging and why I think.

Speaker 5 (57:47):
That this is something that can continue as far as
his evolution and getting better and being the franchise guy.
I'm so excited I can finally root for Washington now
that they're not an absolute dumpster fire of an organization,
Like they have good people running things and things are
on the up and up.

Speaker 2 (58:04):
I'm well, you also have a connection now since LSU
is your adopted team.

Speaker 5 (58:08):
Well, and don't forget Jane Daniels started at Arizona State
and he did not leave under the best of terms.

Speaker 4 (58:13):
But he's still my son. So he's you my son.

Speaker 3 (58:16):
Yeaheah, yeah, double down. Yeah, I mean next like.

Speaker 4 (58:19):
Or very talented son, Joey B.

Speaker 2 (58:23):
Jane Daniels. You guys got a lot of like, very
high talented sons. But yeah, I agree. I think I
think they can keep this going. Jane Daniels can keep
this going. Tomorrow's going to be tough at Ravens, but
then your verse Panthers verse Bears also is going to
be a really fun rookie showdown that I think both
these guys are going to really rise to the occasion
for and then at Giants. So I can see him

(58:46):
going two and two maybe next four games. But yeah,
I believe that Jane Daniels has a talent. They have
the coaches hoff they can keep this going. We're gonna
take a quick break here, but when we come back,
is this the best college football season we've.

Speaker 3 (59:00):

Speaker 4 (59:28):
We'll have it up for you too.

Speaker 2 (59:30):
Okay, I want to give a shout out to this
crazy college football weekend and season right so cool Carme
went to the first upset of the weekend.

Speaker 4 (59:40):
Don't call it upset.

Speaker 5 (59:42):
Don't call him guy Kenny dilly Ham an upset or
is I like to call him Denny killing?

Speaker 3 (59:46):
Have you beate number sixteen Utah?

Speaker 2 (59:49):
Last night everyone stormed the field, which was incredible.

Speaker 4 (59:53):
Not me, I will not.

Speaker 3 (59:55):
I mean, it's not for me.

Speaker 5 (59:56):
I like, I turned to my fiance and I was like,
that's not for us, Hun, that's not for us.

Speaker 2 (59:59):
Unless you're working and you have to be down there.
That is my nightmare. That is like terrifying to me.
We almost almost had an upset this morning, but Alabama
held on to beat South Carolina, which was insane.

Speaker 3 (01:00:13):
But just like this season, I'm just so happy.

Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
It's the first season of the twelve team expanded playoffs,
which is so awesome. All the conference realignment in the
Big Ten, the SEC, We're getting a lot of these
teams playing each other, which means more of these top
teams like we're seeing today are facing off. I am
so excited for Ohio State at Oregon, two undefeated teams

(01:00:36):
that are facing off later. Today we have I think
sc is beating Penn State right now. I don't have
the score up in front of me, but I think
they were before I looked. But it's just a lot
more parody at the top, right because again Alabama beating
Georgia than losing the Vanderbilt The next week, we saw

(01:00:56):
the students take the goalpost, walk it downway. Yeah, it
was beautiful last weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:01:01):
It's just the very interesting thing about all this now,
especially with the conference realignment, is that you are playing teams,
are playing better teams to then satisfy their long standing rivalry.
So like the Apple Cup between Washington and Washington State, Yeah,
that happened early in the season, whereas that usually doesn't
happen until Thanksgiving because they are no longer in the

(01:01:22):
same conference now, so you have to schedule a non
conference opponent.

Speaker 4 (01:01:26):
Usually that happens earlier in the year.

Speaker 5 (01:01:27):
So I think that's why you're seeing a lot of
more maybe maybe what is perceived as more parody. I mean,
there's always parody in college football. You never know what's
going to happen because it's college football. But today, I mean,
if you just look at the slate.

Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
It's so good.

Speaker 5 (01:01:41):
You've got the Red River rivalry is on right now.
Little said it right, Penn State, USC Standford Notre Dame.
Right now, you have, like you said, Ohio State Oregon
Ole Miss number nine, Ole Miss Verset number thirteen, LSU
is kicking off at four thirty.

Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
Papi Ohio.

Speaker 5 (01:01:59):
Yes, and you've got Kansas State number eighteen. Kansas State
versus Colorado as the night game.

Speaker 3 (01:02:04):
Second, Oh yeah, you said that already.

Speaker 5 (01:02:06):
Even Boise State versus Hawaii is gonna be a good game.
Boise State currently ranked seventeenth behind. They're running back Ashton Jenty,
who is just like.

Speaker 3 (01:02:16):
I an eight pm start eight pm.

Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
It's in Hawaii, so that's what happens. But Ashton Jenty,
the Boise State running back, is just absolutely insane. He's
bonkers to watch, absolutely bonkers.

Speaker 4 (01:02:30):
He is doing things.

Speaker 5 (01:02:31):
Teams are loading the box against him constantly, and he's
just like, I don't care, I'm gonna run through you anyway.
And there's all these badass pictures of him now, like
standing there, just ready to mow down defenders.

Speaker 4 (01:02:42):
It's they're so entertaining.

Speaker 5 (01:02:44):
There's a lot of teams that are super entertaining in
the top twenty five and ASU after this weekend should
be one of them, right them, right.

Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
Them, dream big, Karmie, dream big. Now check it with
Brian Frimley and see what's trending.

Speaker 7 (01:02:59):
I believe you all talked about that Red River rivalry.

Speaker 10 (01:03:03):
Yeah, I know the build tongue twister there, but it
is at the half and Texas doing Texas thing. Yeah,
they are number one, Texas doing Texas things.

Speaker 13 (01:03:12):
The viewers from the shotgun on first down turns hands up,
a wich cuts up the middle twenty to thirty five
trakes killing his feet outside here Gonswinster say a good night,
go that squad day weister in.

Speaker 7 (01:03:23):
The ends up for the touchdown.

Speaker 3 (01:03:25):
Heald's that to.

Speaker 13 (01:03:26):
Make up for a buckle forty three yarns on a
big rubble for.

Speaker 7 (01:03:30):
Sent Texas Radio Network.

Speaker 10 (01:03:31):
It is twenty one to three Texas leading number eighteen
Oklahoma at the half, and that was of course you
have Texas Radio Network, Quinn yours. By the way, the
Longhorns quarterback thirteen to seventeen through the air, one hundred
and twenty two yards and one touchdown.

Speaker 4 (01:03:44):
Not as much luck with a receiver, though the flicker.

Speaker 10 (01:03:47):
No, not as much so and not as not as
good of a start you could say in the Penn
State game for their quarterback Drew Aller, who threw a
pick and his number four Penn State and the Lions
are getting shown up at the LA Coliseum against the
USC twenty to six.

Speaker 7 (01:04:03):
Is where we are through two?

Speaker 5 (01:04:04):
That stat between teams that have to cross two times,
I did see that. That's that's my biggest issue with
They're like one in eight, yes, if you have to
cross two time zones. And so that's the issue with
the Big ten now having USC Ucla. I'm like, when
they have to go on the opposite coast, it's just
gonna be an app It's gonna be like NFL team
going to London.

Speaker 7 (01:04:23):
That's why I hope that.

Speaker 10 (01:04:25):
I know I'm not supposed to editorialize, but UCLA should
beat Minnesota tonight at the roast Ball, right, Let's wink wink,
let's hope that happens.

Speaker 4 (01:04:31):
Same and I started looking goodness year they.

Speaker 10 (01:04:33):
Yeah, they had that big win last week against USC,
and now USC is seemingly bouncing back Number eleven Notre
Dame twenty one to seven. They're in front of Stanford
that is in the third quarter to a couple of finals.
To mention here of notable status, Number seven Alabama Hangs
on twenty seven to twenty five against South Carolina. The
game Cox quarter la touchdown, could not convert on the
two pointer, got the ball back on the on side kick,

(01:04:55):
and then Carbon and Alyx had a chance with about
forty seconds to go down the field. All they needed
is a field goal, but an interception. Interception, yes, and
I'll throw this back at you. But first we do
know out of baseball, on a day that is heavily
saturated with college football, that the Guardians, after their seven
to three win against the Tigers today game five alds,

(01:05:16):
they are on to take on the New York Yankees.

Speaker 7 (01:05:20):
Guardians win Lane Thomas had a grand Slam.

Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
Yeah, insane, insane.

Speaker 4 (01:05:25):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
We're getting like game changing grand slams in these postseason games.

Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
It's beautiful, it's awesome. Thank you, Brian.

Speaker 2 (01:05:33):
You're listening to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live from the Tyre
dot Com studios in Los Angeles, and it is time
for our next guest Jets team reporter Caroline Hendershaw, thanks
you for joining the show.

Speaker 6 (01:05:47):
Oh my gosh, ladies. Of course, thanks for having me.

Speaker 3 (01:05:49):
Carolina, What a crazy week for you.

Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
Chats just give us, Like what was the initial vibe
in the building in the lock when the news of
Robert Sala's firing broke?

Speaker 6 (01:06:04):
You know, I think a lot of the players have
echoed this same sentiment. But nobody likes to see a
head coach get fired, right, Like, it's never great, and
you obviously get to know the person behind the coach,
so you end up feeling really bad for them because
obviously it's their full time job, so and then of
course the family that comes with it all of that,
so no one likes when that happens. But having Jeff

(01:06:28):
Olbrick step into that position, I think the players stave
emphasized like, obviously, this probably isn't the way that he
would have imagined getting his first head coaching position, but
they are really excited for him because he's so good
at what he does, obviously having a top five defense
for the past almost three seasons now, and he's just
such a great guy.

Speaker 11 (01:06:49):
He's been in the.

Speaker 6 (01:06:49):
NFL for over twenty years, combining his playing career and
his coaching career, so you know, he knows what the
players are going through. He's been there, he's done that,
and he's been at every almost position of the coaching
kind of ladder. So he's kind of the perfect person,
I think, to step into that role, and the players

(01:07:10):
are really excited for his opportunity.

Speaker 5 (01:07:12):
Yeah, I mean, he's Jeff Olbriok's a football guy, right,
Like he's the one that can kind of galvanize. And
I think do you think that that kind of made
it not necessarily easier, because, like you said, it's heartbreaking
when you have to make these changes, especially in season
and kind of pivot so quickly. But do you think
that kind of made it easier to note that there
was a guy like Jeff oulbrig on staff that you
have faith in to absolutely be able to galvanize the team,

(01:07:35):
to get them going and to do what quite frankly
hasn't been done with a team making a change mid
season and then making the postseason.

Speaker 6 (01:07:43):
Yeah, you know, I do think that whenever there's already
a coach on the staff that the players are familiar with,
the players trust, they've already kind of rallied behind this
particularly the Jets defense has rallied behind him. I think
it's always easier for the players to kind of digest
in a crazy from fans like this, So I think,
all things considered, this is probably the best case scenario

(01:08:05):
instead of someone from the outside coming in. But yeah, again,
like you said, just ol Brick really football guy. Everything.
That picture of him with the mohawk and like his
full tattoo showing, it's iconic.

Speaker 5 (01:08:16):
So I got I'm like, do we have the defensive
like Dan Campbell now in this is what crazy?

Speaker 3 (01:08:22):
Not mad about it?

Speaker 2 (01:08:23):
I mean, we also heard a lot of comments this
week from players, Rogers being one of them, that they
didn't know that this was coming. It was kind of
kind of blindsided. So what was Aaron Rodgers' message to
the team? Not publicly to the media, but like, what
was his message.

Speaker 3 (01:08:38):
To the team.

Speaker 6 (01:08:39):
I think it really comes down to just accountability. Like
I think you've heard it, not even just from Rogers,
but from other players like Sauce Gardner and Tyler Conklin
and all of these key leaders on the Jets team
in all different phases of the game have all said
this kind of falls on us, Like this firing, we
kind of feel that it's our responsibility because if we're

(01:09:03):
sitting here three and one, four and it's a different
it's a different story, right sore their kind of mentality
around it, all I think is it's time for us
to step up to the plate because we have done things,
maybe some plays really great, for other plays like we
have not gone to our full potential. And so they're

(01:09:23):
really taking accountability in the locker room from everyone that
I've spoken to, And are I feel like approaching this
game with just a different mindset.

Speaker 5 (01:09:31):
Maybe what are kind of the changes that you foresee
then going forward? How are they going to write the
ship on offense? Because quite frankly, this defense has not.

Speaker 4 (01:09:40):
Been the issue.

Speaker 5 (01:09:40):
Right, they're top five and a lot of defensive metrics
and top five and EPA per play I believe, and
just they were kind of humming, but it was the
offense that's kind of sputtered in the beginning. What do
you see going forward being the changes that end up happening?
How do you see this team improving on the offensive
side of the ball.

Speaker 6 (01:09:58):
Right, So that's obviously the position of note, right is
the offense and the quarterback. And I think the obvious
one is that top downing will now be calling plays.
That was changed this week with Nathaniel Hackett and taught
down and kind of clipping that script a bit. But
I do think that the offense knows what they're capable of.

(01:10:20):
They knew it all training camp and they were very
confident in their ability. So now it's really just finding
that rhythm that you've seen on a couple drives, right, Like,
you've seen a couple drives that have really been put
together well, and you've seen, Okay, they're starting to get
that going. Now it's more so just about consistency and
consistently finding that pattern and that groove that you've seen

(01:10:44):
on some of those drives that have really worked well.

Speaker 13 (01:10:45):
For that.

Speaker 6 (01:10:46):
Will that come from switching up the play callers. I
don't know so, but you know, no one is really
sure at this moment, so that's kind of I feel
like the team's immediate response is to switch that play
caller and see if that betters the office.

Speaker 2 (01:11:01):
Now something that could help, and the Jets have been
brought up in this possible conversation is DeVante Adams landing
with the Jets. Have you heard anything in the building,
what have you heard around that situation.

Speaker 6 (01:11:14):
I love I love this whole conversation because everyone's like, obviously,
he's going to New York, he's going to recite with Aaron,
and all of us are like, guys, we know nothing.
This is above our pagrits. I have not heard anything, obviously,
other than the mysterious Edgar Allen Poe Poe. Yeah, right,

(01:11:36):
very very interesting. I will leave that at that. But no,
I haven't heard that there's any talks of that or
it's any It's not developing into anything serious at the moment.

Speaker 5 (01:11:46):
And we don't want to get you in trouble with
any tampering accusations here.

Speaker 4 (01:11:49):
I'm trying to get to Adams over to the well.

Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
No he's I mean, he's the one who's come out
and said I want to play with a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (01:11:54):
I don't know before team employee.

Speaker 5 (01:11:56):
You can literally get get hit with tampering that it
happened to a friend of mine that works for a team.

Speaker 4 (01:12:01):
So I'll leave that alone.

Speaker 6 (01:12:03):
But I actually I haven't heard anything.

Speaker 5 (01:12:05):
Yeah, right, there you go, Caroline, not heard anything. Good job,
but I gotta try.

Speaker 4 (01:12:09):
I try.

Speaker 5 (01:12:10):
I have a really random question for you, and this
is something that I'm just genuinely curious about. So Aaron Rodgers,
old school player, obviously has been in the league for
twenty years. He has like the flutter loose sleeves on
his jersey. Now Garrett Wilson has the long sleeves, like
old school sleeves on his jersey. Does that have to

(01:12:31):
do with Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 6 (01:12:33):
You know, I haven't asked Garrett Bell.

Speaker 4 (01:12:35):
You just do if you like.

Speaker 6 (01:12:37):
But you know what if I if I would were
to guess, yeah, if it weren't me and I were
Garrett Wilson, which obviously I'm not. There's a lot of
as lettcesm lacking on that one.

Speaker 5 (01:12:50):
Don't sell yourself short missing, Okay, yeah, it's for me,
and I was playing with a future Hall of Famer,
a quarterback.

Speaker 6 (01:12:58):
I don't know. I think I read her coffee and
kind of everything we does emulating him.

Speaker 5 (01:13:02):
I'd like, I'm so curious about It's the most random thing,
and I like, there's been no mention of it, and I'm.

Speaker 6 (01:13:08):
Just like an observation.

Speaker 4 (01:13:10):
He's a young.

Speaker 5 (01:13:10):
Player, Like, why does he wear his sleeves like that?
It's something that's so trivial and it doesn't actually matter,
But I just wonder if it has.

Speaker 4 (01:13:16):
To do it.

Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
She also loves like whoever Rogers is dating feels like
he dresses according to like however he's with proven This
is another theory that Carmen has. I love it, very
very invested. Okay, before we let you go, obviously, Jets
face the Bills Monday night, big divisional matchup, especially with
the week that they've had with the If they win

(01:13:38):
this game, they're right there in it atop the AFC's
with the Bills. What's been the message and conversation in
the locker room this week? Hopefully, like with everything that
happened this week, turn it around on Monday, right.

Speaker 6 (01:13:50):
I think obviously that big message of accountability that I
touched on bir she was like really the main messaging.
But other than that, I think everyone's kind of you know,
there's always a different feeling when you're going up against
a divisional opponent, right because it just it means a
little bit more, not that any NFL game doesn't mean
a lot to begin with, but it just means almost
that it and more. And then when you put the

(01:14:13):
fact on that they could be first or time for
first in the AFC East, I think everyone kind of
feels that sense of urgency, and that's been a big
thing too. It's kind of the start of these games.
That's been like another message of we need to start faster,
we need to not that they haven't felt that urgency,
but it needs to kind of show out on the
field and it needs to really kind of come to

(01:14:35):
fruition from the first drive, from the first snap, and
it really just needs to start rolling right off the bat.
So I think a little bit of that urgency will
be shown on Monday Night and hopefully it godes well
for the Jets.

Speaker 3 (01:14:48):
Carolyne, thank you so much for joining us. You were wonderful.

Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
This is cool craze everything we needed more. Oh you
tell us that we're going to take advantage of that.

Speaker 5 (01:14:55):
I say, Caroline, plug plug your stuff real quick, because
not only are you the Jets reporter, but you are
doing something extra fun this season.

Speaker 6 (01:15:02):
Yes, I am. I we I started a podcast with
the Skims. It's called Well Played. You know, we're recapping
all of the sports stories that are making the headlines
during the weeks, and then we're kind of going through
the NFL stories. It's a great podcast, very fun, very lighthearted,
easy for people who are beginners in sports, love us

(01:15:23):
and also experts, so you know, all audiences are welcome.

Speaker 3 (01:15:27):
Love that. Thank you again so much, and good luck
on Monday.

Speaker 6 (01:15:31):
Thank you, ladies, Talk to you later.

Speaker 2 (01:15:33):
He Caroline Sea. All right, guys, we're gonna take one
more break here. When we come back, we got our
week six NFL picks. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Hey,
welcome back to Fox Football Saturday.

Speaker 3 (01:15:43):
I'm Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitali.

Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
We are broadcasting live from the Tarot dot Com studios
in Los Angeles, and producer Patrick you know.

Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
What time it is? Oh, you know, I know NFL picks?
How do we do last week?

Speaker 7 (01:15:56):
All right, well, I will say this.

Speaker 12 (01:15:58):
One of you went three and two, the other went
two and three, and with that said, it was all
I think.

Speaker 4 (01:16:09):
First of all, the Bengals are scurring me over right now?

Speaker 5 (01:16:11):
Yeah, any like the last few games, you just keep
believing I.

Speaker 7 (01:16:19):
Burrow leave in Joey b I.

Speaker 4 (01:16:22):
Believe it was a stretch. God.

Speaker 12 (01:16:27):
So on the season so far, Alex, you're fourteen, fifteen,
Karmen you're twelve and seventeen. You're only down to it's
a two point difference, we're still close. That said, let's
go with our first of this week. We got the
commanders at the Ravens. Ravens are seven point favorites, but
we got Jayden Daniels.

Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
Do you know what our.

Speaker 12 (01:16:46):
Leader in the clubhouse, Alex Curry, what are we feeling?

Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
Yeah, I mean we were talking about Jane Daniels earlier
of can he keep it going? I think he can,
but not this weekend against the Ravens. I think Ravens
are gonna take this. They had a big win over
the Bengals last weekend, They're at home, They're really starting
to find their groove.

Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
So I'm taking the Ravens.

Speaker 4 (01:17:07):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the Ravens two.

Speaker 5 (01:17:10):
And it's really given the fact that this this running
game of the Ravens between Derreck Henry and Lamar Jackson
has turned into everything that we thought it was going
to be.

Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
The most threat and.

Speaker 5 (01:17:21):
The Washington run defense this season twenty four rushes allowing
tenor war yards.

Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
That's the most in the league.

Speaker 5 (01:17:28):
They're twenty point five percent explosive run play percentage allowed,
that's the second worst in the league. Overall, six hundred
and fift rushing yards allowed that ranks twenty second. So
I'm gonna give the I'm gonna give the Ravens the year,
not even I mean, Jane Daniels can play as well
as he wants to, but with that defense, I don't
know is equiped to handle this Ravens rushing attack.

Speaker 12 (01:17:46):
Well, speaking of a player who can play, we got
Baker Mayfield in the Bucks taken three and a half points,
by the way on the road going against the nil
in Saints Car Me, what are we feeling?

Speaker 5 (01:17:59):
Bucks are fired up? They've been in New Orleans all week.
Looks like Tampa kind of avoided the worst with Hurricane Milton,
which is really great. But it's been a crazy week
for these guys. I think that's actually gonna work in
their favor. Not to mention, both Marshawn Lattimore and Mike
Evans are healthy at the same time. Again, that's gonna
be a fun matchup to watch, as it always is.
These two guys hate each other and it's one of

(01:18:22):
the few true rivalries between players in this league.

Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
I'm taking the Bucks.

Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
I'm also taking the Bucks.

Speaker 2 (01:18:29):
I'm just curious why it's not a bigger line with
Derek Carr out with an oblique injury. Right, he officially
ruled out? Yeah, how is it not a Baker line AnyWho?
Baker and the Bucks, Baby, they lost a close OT
game last Thursday versus Atlanta, so they've been sitting on
that loss for a while now that they could have

(01:18:50):
easily taken that.

Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
So, yes, the Bucks are.

Speaker 4 (01:18:52):
Getting cot and answin winfield junior practice.

Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
It's happening well.

Speaker 12 (01:18:55):
Speaking of sitting and waiting for their next game, we
got the Lions as three point favorites on the road
to take on Jerry's World Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (01:19:03):
Alex HOWI feeling.

Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
I'm going with the Lions. Cowboys haven't won at home yet.
Michael Parsons is still ruled out. I Dak didn't have
a great game last week. He had three turnovers, but
had that game winning drive, so that's what everyone remembered.
But the Lions are just more a complete team. I
believe in them way more this season in general. So Lions.

Speaker 5 (01:19:23):
I'm going to Lions to third best ePaper play on
the ground and this Dallas run defense. Talk about a
mismatch one.

Speaker 4 (01:19:31):
And ninety to New Orleans.

Speaker 5 (01:19:33):
The New Orleans Saints gave up two hundred and seventy
yards to the Baltimore Ravens. This season, they have the
highest EPA per play allowed versus the run.

Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
This is not close.

Speaker 5 (01:19:40):
Plus they're missing Marshawn Neeland, Michaeh Parsons, Eric Henderson's practice.

Speaker 12 (01:19:44):
It's Lions, all right, get to the final tests on
this one, there, Carmen. We got the Bengals as three
and a half point favorites.

Speaker 4 (01:19:50):
Bengals have to Bengals, that's all.

Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
I'm also taking Bengals. It's a must win for Burrow.
Let's get to the last one, all right.

Speaker 12 (01:19:57):
We got Bill's favorites on the road against these Jets.
Alex take it away.

Speaker 3 (01:20:02):
In Josh Allen.

Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
We trust he is coming off the worst game of
his career, so he's gonna have extra fire. Jets obviously
in shambles after this week. I'm going with the Bills.

Speaker 5 (01:20:12):
I think it's gonna get weird. It's at home. Jets
have everything to play for right now. I actually am
gonna go with the Jets.

Speaker 2 (01:20:17):
Oh my gosh, the one game we did not agree on, Okay,
that's gonna be it. Thank you for spending your Saturday
afternoon with us. We'll see you next week, same time,
same place,
