Speaker 3 (01:14):
My teams don't ever give me heart attacks because they're
not good enough, like a SU and Northwestern are just
not relevant enough. Although Asus three I know now, yeah,
he he made the extra point.

about thirty minutes is Cynthia Freeland, the Numbers woman, like
the smartest woman at NFL Network, which we love. Then
we have Bengals reporter Kelsey Conway. In hour two. We
got producer Patrick with US Today Technical producer Chris Perfet
Martin Wise at the news desk, and we're going to

(03:17):
keep you updated on all the college football action as
it goes down. You're probably gonna hear US react to
LSU South Carolina right now if something happens in this
first segment, because we've got left and oh there, it
looks like South Carolina is about to get the first sound.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
No they didn't.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Okay, fine, we're all good. We're all good. Deep Brad,
I don't trust them. Everybody they do not trust them. Okay, Well,
let's start with a fun segment that we have today.
We're calling true or false? Are these Week one narratives?
True or false? Overreaction? Okay, Like, I'm looking at you
and the games happening behind me, and I'm seeing reactions.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Quarterback, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Looking to keep me outdated too, Keep the audience, keep me,
keep everybody updated.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Yes, South Carolina quarterback. All right, we're down.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Good, Okay, So we're going to take a look back
at Week one of NFL football. The narratives. Now, remember
a lot of these starters didn't see playing time during preseason,
so Week one is really the first look that you're
getting at a lot of these starters, a lot of
these teams. It's yeah, you can't really base the season
and what a team looks like on week one, So

(04:32):
I'm down for some overreactions. We're going to run through
some statements and Carmen and I will each share whether
we think it's true or false overreaction. Let's start in
New York. Aaron Rodgers and the Jets are in trouble.
I'm gonna say yes they are now. There's no denying

(04:53):
that Aaron Rodgers' arm and throw is still so beautiful
and fun to watch. But he is not mobile and
and that's gonna be a big problem. He is forty
years old who's coming off the biggest injury of his career,
and this is really his first game time action since
he snapped his achilles last year.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Four snaps into the game, and.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
This was also the first look we saw Aaron Rodgers
and the Jets like this, this.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Was it now.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Rogers and Alan Lazard had some good moments. He also
had some major eye rolls, like very publicly the camera
zooming in on him, but like you should know, the
camera's going to be zooming in on you every chance
they get. It's it doesn't feel like that fun chemistry
is there. They also like don't have a strong run game.

(05:42):
Breeze Hal only had fifty four rushing yards and a touchdown,
also a fumble and lost it. And this comes when
you're playing the forty nine ers and they're back up
to Christian McCaffrey. Jordan Mason had one hundred and forty
seven rushing yards and a touchdown, like literally went off
and then and again. On top of it all, we

(06:02):
know that Aaron Rodgers and Robert Sala are not getting along.
Like it's obvious to the public. We've heard insider information
on it. You can say everything's fine and we're gonna
be fine, but like you can also see with your eyeballs, yeah,
we can read and you can read chemistry. You know,
if we can see, you're not great. And honestly, I'll

(06:22):
say it again, I think Aaron missing mandatory mini camp
was a bigger deal than they're leading on to. You
know what, you are a leader, not leading by example,
and they just got hit like it just was not
it did not feel like it was ever going to
do if.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
For no other reason than Robert Sala didn't cover for
Aaron Rodgers. No, not at all. For Mantory Mini Caamp.
It's one thing to have him miss it, but then
your head coach kind of sells you out he did.
The vibes are bad. They're bad not to mention in
this game. If you'll recall they pulled Aaron Rodgers with
over four minutes to go. In this game, he missed
twenty five percent of the team's offensive snaps. I get it,

(06:58):
he's coming off an injury. You're not gonna win that game.
You want to take him out, all right? If you
do that, then you should take Garrett Wilson and Breeze
Hall out. They're probably Tyron Smith too, because he's old
and easier left tackle. But if you're talking about the
fact that they didn't have snaps in the preseason together
because Aaron Rodgers didn't play, they didn't have snaps last
year together, Like all of these things that are happening

(07:19):
are solvable by more reps. How do you get more reps?
Stay on the field, even if you're not gonna win
that game. It should go a long way for chemistry.
Because you saw Garrett Wilson, Rogers only hit Garrett Wilson
on six of eleven targets. That should improve and that
will improve again with reps. But you're just condemning yourself

(07:40):
to a slow start at this point because Rogers hasn't played,
and he is very particular about how you should run
certain routes. If you're his receivers, he has different options.
We know about the hand signals, all that kind of stuff.
That stuff takes getting used to as receivers, and they
are not used to him.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Which is why you see the eye roll. It's like, God,
why aren't you there?

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Not only not only is it like his receivers. Though,
What really concerns me right now is that in Week one,
the Jets offensive line had the twenty eighth ranked pass
blocking grade according to PFF. I hate that he is
forty years old coming off an Achilles injury. You can't
pass block for him. He did scramble around a little
bit because he had to.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
That made me nervous.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
There's so many like things wrong on so many different
levels for the Jets right now. I'm not saying they
can't pull it together, but I was also not in
the camp this offseason that the Jets were just magically
going to be good because they're talented and they have
Aaron Rodgers coming off of an injury like that.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
You just never know, no, I said, I said day
one once preseason started, everyone's over hyping the Jets.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
I don't know what kool aid you're drinking.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
But it's it's not the good stuff, because like, what
has he proven to you? Nothing so far, and what
has been shown to us is a lack of chemistry
between the head coach and the starting quarterback and then
not showing up to miny cab not like there's so
many red flags.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
There were so many red flags. I think they're in trouble.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Oh god, ok, he missed it. Wait did they take
a time out?

Speaker 4 (09:18):
I don't know. Yo, LSH took a time out. Oh
and he missed it?

Speaker 2 (09:22):
They ice said, I saw anybody.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
He kicked it. It was going for talkin is going
for a forty nine yard field goal. There's five seconds
left on the clock. LSU just took a time out,
but he kicked it and he missed it. Hopefully misses
it again.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Guys, I don't know. Well, I'm not well that that
was it that well?

Speaker 3 (09:39):
Okay, okay, when I it goes wrong, when I seen
the kicker goes wrong.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
It goes so wrong, like take the wind.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Almost feels like you have to wait for icing the
kicker to go right.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
More often than not, it just never works. I don't know. Okay,
we go to be fair.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
I always say, like, if you, if you, if the
kicker kicks, like and he's going to miss the next one,
But I don't know what happens when he misses the
first one.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
First one.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Okay, let's see forty nine after attempt. Yeah, now he's
going to make it. I just like, now it feels
like he's going to make it. He's like, well you
already I did.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
How it goes?

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Put that into the universe.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
It's it kind of feels in evident.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
I hope that you guys.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
Thirty six, LSU thirty three South Carolina going for the
forty nine?

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Do you miss again?

Speaker 7 (10:24):
No?

Speaker 8 (10:24):
Good?

Speaker 2 (10:28):
LSU Wins going Why.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
This life so much? I mean, I love this life.

Speaker 9 (10:35):
Oh my god, congrats on beating a USC.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
A USC, that's true. They did not win when I
was in Vegas. I have now been to I've been
to two games live they've lost both games. So the
term I don't know.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Don't put that on yourself.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
I'm not sure I was. They were away games. I
haven't been to one in Baton, y As yet.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
Okay, anyway, that would be wild, guys.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Fuck it LSU over South Carolina. There was six thirty three.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Congratulations all U LSU fans, especially Corman and Dave. Here
now we can breathe, Let's move to our next tru
or falls and talk about the team that the Jets
played on Monday. The forty nine Ers will be the
most dominant team this season. And I'm gonna say that's
not an overreaction. I will say this could very well

(11:20):
here be true because they were not firing on all
cylinders and they still absolutely crushed the Jets. Now, some
of their top guys definitely not locked in yet. Brandon
Aiyuk stilled getting in game shape, barely did anything. Christian
McCaffrey was out back up dominated for him like that.

(11:42):
Jordan Mason was like the story of this game. Christian
McCaffrey's backup. When one hundred and forty seven yards and
a touchdown, he can handle the load. And I think
McCaffrey's officially ruled out for tomorrow again against the Vikings,
so he might go on the IL and this might
be a little worse than we all expected. Deebo Samuels
was like good, but again like not his top peak

(12:03):
went fifty four receiving yards, twenty three ushing yards and
a rushing touchdown. Brock Perty looks solid, but again not
top of his game. So with all that being said,
imagine how dangerous this team is going to be once
everybody is healthy and once everybody is locked in and
they're back to one hundred percent. This is going to
be a very dangerous, dominant forty nine ers team.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Yeah, but you already have two teams that look dominant
already in the NFC, and that's the Eagles and the Lions.
That's where I'm going for a where I don't know that.
I think the Niners were already even at full strength,
are gonna go toe to toe with those guys. And
now you're not, especially if Christan McCarey goes on IR,
you're gonna have a slow start to the season. So
I don't know how you can still be dominant. And

(12:46):
here's the thing. Jordan Mason was an unknown then he
had the most carries of any running back under Kyle
Shanahan in that game. Kyle Shanahan likes to rotate running backs.
He usually throws out multiple running backs onto the field,
and that was still the case of Ale used check
as with their full back. Yeah, but now Jordan Mason
is no longer an unknown and Brian Flores in that

(13:07):
Minnesota defense are absolutely going to go after him. And
he does not have the experience to read those running
lanes that Brian Flores is going to try to shut
down in that defense.

Speaker 9 (13:20):
Did they they just this morning?

Speaker 3 (13:23):
This morning? Okay, I was flying so didn't see it.
So yeah, so they are going to have a slow
start to this season, while the Lions. While the Eagles
at least I'm not trying to glean too much off
of the Brazil game because the playing service was terrible.
But with the addition of Saquon Barkley Kellen Moore at
offensive coordinator, I just think the Eagles are going to
be fine now. And then you also have the Lions. Yeah,

(13:43):
so I can't say in good faith that the Niners
are going.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
To be the game with the Rams like ot win there,
Like it wasn't a blowout, but.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
They weren't firing on all cylinders either.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
So, but you also have like their top guys, like
are you Deebo Samuels, Like once they get again, like
we sit off the top of the segment here like
Week one lies and like even like these top teams
that aren't completely locked in and have top tier talent,
imagine what it's going to be. And if and when
they get Christian McCaffrey, what maybe it's midway through the season,

(14:17):
a couple months in when everyone's beat up, and now
you're going to get fresh legs. It might take him
a couple weeks to get obviously in game shape again,
but now you're getting like the best of the best,
added Boo staffway through the season.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
I still put the Lions up there with them, with
Ben Johnson at offensive coordinator, with the variety of weapons
that they have in Detroit, especially if Jamison Williams.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Continue variety of weapons with them.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
Yeah, I would say the right up there with them.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
But I do I don't think that the Niners are
going to run away with it. I just think that
especially if if Jamison Williams really is what we saw
from him in the in the Week one and he
can be that deep threat this Lion's offense is going
to be really really fun and really really hard to beat.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
Oh yeah, no, they're they're like top fave for a
lot of people. But let's get to one more true
or false here. The Bengals are actually going to be
bad this year. Now, I don't think Burrow can be
bad if he's healthy, But the question is is he

(15:23):
one hundred percent healthy because he had that risk surgery.
We saw him kind of a couple viral videos on
Sunday of him shaking it out, holding his wrist in
interesting ways. After the game, he did say it's absolutely
not affecting how he's throwing. But again, you can say
whatever you want, but when you see awkwardness, like we're

(15:44):
going to talk to their reporter Kelsey Conway in hour
two and hopefully get yeah and get a little more
insight on this. But again, like I would be a
little worried, like you lost to the Patriots. I think
everybody thought this was going to be a gimme to
the Bengals week one and now they're out, like absolutely

(16:07):
out overall, Like they didn't look good. But again that's
not anything new because the Bengals start slow. This is
the fifth time under Zach Taylor that they've started that
they might. If they lose tomorrow would be the fifth
time that they've gone oh and two to start the season. Yeah,
so they don't. They don't really do well in week

(16:28):
That's normal. They're a slow start kind of team. But like,
they won't have T Higgins again, he's doubtful. Jamar Chase
could be better. You hope he's going to be better.
Now you're going into Arrowhead facing the defending champs. But
Burrow is one of the few quarterbacks who can claim
that he has a good record against Mahomes. He's three
and one, So yeah, this is gonna this is interesting

(16:52):
on Burrow.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
I'm not making any judgments about the Bengals until I
see them against the Chiefs because Joe Burgh has a
stupid passer rating against them last two games one hundred
and thirty eight point eight. Passer rating one hundred and
fifty eight point three is perfect, by the way, guys
over seven hundred yards, six touchdowns, zero interceptions in two
games against them. They're missing T Higgins, Like you said, Yeah,

(17:15):
that's going to be a big factor because then you
can key in on Jamar Chase that much more. But
the Bengals O line is much improved. They allowed six
pressures according to PFF last week that was the tied
for the fifth best in the league. But then you
also on the other side of this have Chris Jones
for the Kansas Chiefs, who alone had six pressures. Oh
yeah last week led the league for that. The Bengals

(17:36):
defense also has to step up for its offense. Chiefs
had seventeen plays gaining ten or more yards in Week one.
Rashi Rice led the league and catches over fifteen yards,
So they are an explosive offense. Now, given the fact
that they added Xavier Worthy, Rashi Rice is not suspended
or anything like that. He's in there, this is going

(17:57):
to be a formidable, yeah, offense to go against. So
this defense, this Bengals defense, needs to help Joey out.
But Joey b does well, something turns on in him.
Now it's going to be a matter of I think
it's gonna be a push pull of all right. Yeah,
the Bengals have historically started slower. It takes them a
little while to get going. Now you match that up
against having to go against the Chiefs in Week two,

(18:20):
which you historically do well against Yeah, what's gonna win out? Yeah,
but I'm not going to make any judgments about if
we should actually be worried about the Bengals until this
next game.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
Yeah, and really is Burrow healthy? Is his risk not
a problem like he says it is. We're gonna take
a quick break here, but when we come back, should
Tua retire? You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

First of all, Carmen, welcome to the SEC means more.
Uh day, Well, listen to you, Alex. I'm so disappointed.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
You know, he's a lot of things, independent too. He
spells a lot of things.

Speaker 9 (20:18):
He's a big spell. He's a big spell, big spell.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Wipe me down out.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
Yeah that was that was what I just sang.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Was white genre I am super familiar with. So I
think it's gonna help us out next week.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
Next break, we'll have it. We'll bring it in.

Speaker 9 (20:35):
Is it clean?

Speaker 3 (20:37):
Is there? There's gotta be a chuck of it that's clean?
White me down the Queen.

Speaker 9 (20:41):
Okay, yeah, you should be filling Chris. I'll help you out, Chris.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
All right, Okay, this is our mission.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
I don't know, like what it's southern.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
It's wrap.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Lil Wayne's from New Orleans, like now Orleans, right, So
like is that that same kind of category right there?

Speaker 3 (20:57):
Yeah, I mean, like that's all Southern rap is. Yeah,
Like I didn't.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
I Like I think I just associated.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Lil Wayne with LA because he lives here and he's
on like on the Speak see him around everywhere. But
then when he we're going to talk about this in
a bit, but when he came out and said how
broken he was and he didn't get asked about the
time show and that they asked Ken instead Kendrick Lamar
instead of him in his home town, and like I
watched I watched his like crying video, like not crying videos,
but like how heartbroken and broken he was.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
I have a little Wayne tattoo on me? Wait what yeah?

Speaker 4 (21:28):
What do you mean?

Speaker 3 (21:28):
I have little Wayne lyrics tattooed on me. I've been
that big. I have lycto. No, it's something bad. It's
from his uncomfortable off the Carter three. It says love
Live Life Proceed Progress. It was a nineteen year old thing.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
Double rat.

Speaker 6 (21:48):
I was.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
I was the biggest low Wayne. I am the biggest
low Wayne fan.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
I love You've gotten to meet him at Fox?

Speaker 3 (21:53):
No, I haven't.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
And he knows all of that if he like if
you're a talent on air at Fox Sports. He the
first time I met him, it was at Aucho's like
bookwarming housewarming party. I mean I had met him because
I've had him on like a disputed with us, and he's.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
Like Alex Curry. I was like, I keep missing it
my name.

Speaker 2 (22:14):
He's like, I love your smile. You bring so much
joy to sports. I was like, can I just like
record this and have it back played on.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Read I made this happen at all time for no
other reason that I need to show my tattoo.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
Yeah you should know.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
But he is like literally the coolest, most most like
down to earth human.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
I keep missing him. There's been there's been days when
we've been in the studio at the same the same
day and I just like, I come right after he leaves.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Okay, it's gonna happen. We just missed this whole segment
that I'm gonna move to the top of next hour.
But now let's check in with Martin Wise and see
what's trending.

Speaker 9 (22:45):
Can I tell my little wine story?

Speaker 2 (22:47):
Let's go.

Speaker 9 (22:49):
So, I'm like a pa, right, I'm running around.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
Yeah, you worked at Fox Sports like F S one,
so still.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Do F one.

Speaker 8 (22:57):
But so I walked Wayne in telling them this was
this week I talk about so and so for and
first of all, number one thing I took away from
Lil Wayne very very good at being very very famous. Yes,
like he's really really good at being famous. He gives
you the time that you asked for. I feel like
very few people probably walk away like what a jerk.

Speaker 6 (23:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (23:15):
But the next time I met him, maybe a week
and a month and a half later, when he.

Speaker 9 (23:19):
Was on the show again, he goes, so good to
see you again, Mark.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
I love like that. Yeah when you say my name, dude,
behind that move on my mind when they can meet
you once. Yeah, And Vin Scully.

Speaker 4 (23:31):
Was like he was he's the same thing. Yeah, I
was my work.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Grandpa for a year. When I in turned the name,
it was the doorball.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
We love, we love what.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
We're gonna talk more Lil Wayne in a bit, and
we have more swords we'll get to that next segment.

Speaker 9 (23:41):
No, I got jot?

Speaker 4 (23:42):
What do you got?

Speaker 3 (23:42):
What you got? There's a lot going on.

Speaker 8 (23:44):
There is a lot going on. A couple of games
between two ranked opponents. One alice, shit, I'm sorry. One
between Oregon and Oregon State. Oregon right now with the
ninth raine team in the nation with a thirteen to
seven lead. They just scored a touchdown dealer Garybrial fifty
four yards out, thirteen thirty left in the second quarter.
Oklahoma what they toucheddown? Lead over two Lane twelve minutes
left in the second quarter. There, Oh, you just punted.

(24:06):
Notre Dame and Purdue Dame with a fourteen point lead
over the boiler Makers. Two teams that are not ranked,
but both wish they were, Texas A and M in Florida,
Texas A and M with ten point lead over the
Gators in the Swamp. Earlier today, Alabama pounded Wisconsin forty
two to ten. Missouri handed Bill O'Brien and Boston College's
first lost twenty seven to twenty one. Oklahoma State Beatulso

(24:29):
forty five to ten. Michigan beat Arkansas State eighteen I'm sorry,
twenty eight to eighteen. Jordan Love downgraded to doubtful for
tomorrow's game against the Colts. Christian McCaffrey has been placed
on IR And the last thing I say, Carmen, when
I saw that you were engaged on Instagram, I didn't know.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
I didn't know you guys were dating any of that.

Speaker 8 (24:47):
When I saw the posts, I was like most of
the You're like, oh, that's so great.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
I was like, let's glue, right, let's glue. It was
an incredible reaction. I was very, very taken aback by time.
Many people wish just well, uh, we are private people
for the most part. We don't like to keep our
relationship on social media.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
But now it's there.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
Now it's I mean, we like I still like posting
on like close friends though, like I still don't like
really post him post him. But in the game like
that on LSU, I'm like, he's got to be called
out for indoctrinating me into this life.

Speaker 9 (25:19):
Yeah, well it gets to know better. I'll head it.

Speaker 6 (25:21):
No.

Speaker 9 (25:21):
Yeah, well back to you guys.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Thank you, Martin. You're listening to Fox Football Saturday. I'm
Alex Coury here with Carmen Vitally. We are broadcasting live
from the tarak dot Com Studios in Los Angeles. Thank
you for spending your Saturday afternoon with carme and me.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
It's time for our first guests.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
And I got to give her a mad shout out
because this was a last minute pick up, but I
love her so much. The smartest human in sports, NFL
Networks analytics expert, the best dog mom My Bessie Cynthia Freelood.

Speaker 6 (25:50):
I will never, I will never. It never gets old
having you introduced me. I always appreciate it. Thank you.
You know you've always had one of your best friends
introduce you. That's just like a new a new that.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Yeah, can you just follow me around everywhere?

Speaker 4 (26:03):
This is the best human won't want, won't, Carmen.

Speaker 6 (26:08):
I'm glad we're doing it. Official congratulations. Yes, to be fair,
I wasn't sure if I was allowed to like officially
congratulate you or not.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
I wasn't allowed to. I wasn't allowed to last.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
Yeah, no, it's it's it's it's fine.

Speaker 7 (26:22):
Out.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
We're we're we're out public.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
It's public, we're out. We're like, I'm still, you know,
just gonna be I'm not going to be like in
your face with my relationship. But the congratulations are very
much appreciated.

Speaker 6 (26:33):
I've got to off, but we got to say it
on here too to get it, get it official everywhere.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
It's wild. It's just I'm like, oh god, I'm planning
a wedding, now, what is this?

Speaker 6 (26:46):
You can do it like me? And wait like I mean,
I haven't. I've been engaged for a year and haven't
planned anything. So there are no rule.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
There are no rules.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
You and I say, Paige, Yeah, no rule.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Or surprised everyone to get married at your rehearsal dinner
like I did. All right, let's get to football, Cynthia,
and start with some heartbreaking to a concussion Thursday Night News.
What was your initial reaction and do you think he
should retire?

Speaker 6 (27:17):
My initial reaction was I felt like, like, I don't
you know, I know to a little bit. I've interviewed
it a couple of times and I spoke to it,
but I I just was heartbroken because this is a
person who just wants to play football. It's like he
very I don't, and that's simple and a bad way.
He's simple in a good way. He just loves football.
He just wants to be out there. He's done everything
he can to, like you know, grow and learn, and

(27:39):
he spent a lot. I mean it's just sad, like
when someone has has it, Like there's no other word.
I felt sick to my stomach and sad all at
the same time. Like that's I don't I don't know
if you can have any other reaction watching That's true.
I don't know what I think he should do. You know,
it's his decision. Obviously. I personally like it feels like
the answer is for him not to. But I'm not him.

(28:00):
I can't make decisions for him, you know. I like
I feel now because I'm getting old, I feel like
maternal towards all of these kids playing football.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
Now it happens real quick.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
It happens with the wife and family, like think about
your kid.

Speaker 6 (28:13):
Yeah yeah, But I mean now that I'm like a
you know, like I'm I'm a mom age. I could like,
you know, I sit here and I'm like, maybe you
shouldn't do it, But I you know, people, it's his
decision to make. And you know, I just like I said,
as as a human watching, I'm like, you know, why
don't we find him a good like consulting.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Jump Yeah, he says the number one exactly.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
We saw a little bit of his personality this preseason.
He kind of got more candid with the camera.

Speaker 6 (28:40):
I'm like, okay, I know, yeah, I know.

Speaker 3 (28:44):
Well the other side of the coin in that game,
I mean, everything was overshadowed by it too as an
injury and as it should have been. But we got
to see the Bills now in the second week, and
it's sure looking like they're gonna be just fine. I
know that a season ago you were very familiar with
this team, spending preseason with them, saying what have you

(29:05):
seen from them? And do we think this is a
real like Josh Allen, I don't know how you argue
he's not a top three quarterback when he's elevating this
team around him.

Speaker 6 (29:14):
I mean, the answer to me is they're over Josh
himself is overcoming a lot of flaws. There's just no
way you can get around it. Their defense has so
many injuries, and I mean you start Terrelle Bernardi even
go out, Yes, they're on guys who are like practice squads.
You know, they were on their practice squad like five

(29:34):
minutes ago already. So as much as I want to say,
like you know, they're Okay, they're able to overcome. So
I'm concerned that, you know, given it, given a game
where let's say, you know, they're so reliant on Josh
being superman, Like imagine if there's a game where he
has just one turnover, it just makes it so much
harder to win. So I'm a little concerned about their

(29:56):
long term viability. But you know, they are for real, Like,
if they can get through some of these injuries, they're
definitely a team that's for real. And you know, overcoming
the defensive pieces is a lot, and it's a lot
to ask you Josh Allen, so he's certainly proving who
he is.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
All right, let's stay in New York, but talk about
Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, because this was really the
first look that we got of Rogers with the Jets
and didn't look great.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
Do you think they're in trouble this season?

Speaker 6 (30:23):
If they can't get their run defense sticks, they're in trouble.
I am not worried about their offense. I'm not worried
about you know, there's a lot of like the stats
show like, oh, like he only did this, he threw
to this side only and blah blah, blah, I only
threw to three different receivers, YadA, YadA. Yeah, Okay, all
of that stuff is finding good. The problem is is
when you have the ball for twenty one minutes or
very very low possession, that you just give the defense

(30:46):
so many more cluises to what you're going to do
and it just kind of all implodes. So I'm more worried.
I only am worried about their run defense. If they
can shore up their run defense, then this is going
to be a very good team with like top tier
aspirations that we're getting to being we really well recognized.
But at the same time, if they can't get their
run defense figured out, then it's going to be a problem.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
Yeah. There was something that I noticed in the first
week of the season that's kind of carrying over and
send you know how much I love the trenches and
I know that you are. You do too. There's been
more rotation of offensive linemen, and I don't know if
that's a symptom of maybe a shortened preseason and not

(31:27):
having as many games and not having as long to
figure out that unit. I don't know if you notice
that or what your take would be on it, but
that's something I noticed, and it's something I don't like.
I'll tell you that much.

Speaker 6 (31:39):
I do things like preseason has part to do it,
But I also think the college has a lot to
do with it, because you know, we're watching these college
games today. Watch the trenches. They don't look the same
as like, you know what an NFL style offensive line
looked like. So these people with new different trenches, new
different players, younger players that don't have the same sort
of you know, the pulling guards are. They don't do

(32:03):
that in college very often, right, Like, it's rare to
see that. So I think a lot of it also
has to do with in the beginning of the season,
an adjustment to a different style of play that these
kids aren't used to playing necessarily in college. They're rotating
them in, they're trying to figure out who can.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
Do what where.

Speaker 6 (32:18):
There's really no way to see if a person has
picked up the playbook on the offensive line in practice
the same way as you can during a game.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
That's a good point, all right, Let's move to the
big news that hit last Sunday. Dak got his bag
his contract extension like hours before his first game last week.
Now the highest paid player making sixty million a year,
the first sixty million dollars a year player. Was this
the right move by the Cowboys? And were you shocked

(32:51):
at all how this all went down?

Speaker 6 (32:54):
I was shocked to happen on a Sunday before kickoff,
like I see it. Timing was like a little shocking.
But then you're like, oh, it's Jerry Jones. So also no,
but like you know, you're like wow, like that is
really like dominating the news cycle right now when when
you're having to face the Browns defense, which by the way,
is still a very good defense even though they lost
that game. But ultimately, I don't know if you can

(33:17):
get away from it. It's just the inflation rate of
the quarterback position in terms of salary. You know, it's
not to say in fairness, you would have to really
look at what the money number actually ends up being,
because those numbers are all kind of fake, right, Those
numbers that they report are a function of the hide whatever.
So the guarantee is the number you need to look at.
And I have not seen those yet because they're not

(33:39):
really made publicly available. So the truth is is, I'm
not surprised at all. The timing was a little whatever.
It was very dramatic, but I'm not surprised that it happened.
We knew something was going to happen. I mean, there's
no way that Jerry Jones was gonna let deck Press
got end up in Los Angeles in any way, shape
or form.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
Wait, was that the rumor, like, yeah, it was going
to go to LA Is that we pushed him at
last minute?

Speaker 3 (34:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (34:05):
Yeah, like if Maggie Stafford had like, you.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
Know, yeah, yeah, buyer like that buyer's remorts like I
don't know if I want it, and then someone else.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
Why I want it?

Speaker 2 (34:14):
You're like, well, no, no, I have to have it
as a chocohol like that. Uh oh that's.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
A dangerous thing. Yeah, changerous I have.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
Before we let you go share everyone talk about your
new YouTube show again and where everyone can find it
and what you talk about on the show.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (34:32):
So in thirty minutes every single week, I go through
around thirty minutes, I go through on Wednesday, one number
for each team and then a reason why a team
is predicted to when. So I run a bunch of models,
like simulations, kind of like Madden Games cut style simulations,
and I come up with score and of those then
I say, why what are the stats that drive it?
And I try to get through in thirty minutes. I've

(34:53):
been pretty good. It's been like thirty seven minutes. What's
this week? Which is that's pretty good?

Speaker 5 (34:58):
Right?

Speaker 6 (34:58):
So yeah, you know we're getting it down there. But
just so you have a little bit of like if
nothing else, you can either action items if you're so inclined,
or if you if you want so, you can tell
your friends at the bar, you can steal my stats
and tell your friends when you're watching games, hey did
you know? And your friends are like, wow, you really
like study this stuff? You know? Yeah, impressive.

Speaker 2 (35:17):
So Cynthia Freelan's numbers game on YouTube. Go find it,
go subscribe, go watch follow all of her stats, because
she's just going to make you sound like the smartest
person with all.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
If you can't talk to Cynthia personally, then this is
the next best option because every time I have a
conversation with then yeah I feel smarter.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Oh yeah, smartest mind auntie. You love you, Cynthia.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
We love you.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
Thank you for tap tapping.

Speaker 6 (35:41):
In anti anytime.

Speaker 2 (35:44):

Just Louisiana, Louisiana artists.

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Specifically Boozy's from Baton Boozy Bozies from Baton Bag.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
Carmen was trying, Was this the song you were rapping?

Speaker 3 (36:34):
Yeah? B O O S I E B A D
A z Z white me down.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
That was three raps today on that was the same.
Doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
You did it again, I didn't.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
You did it again.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
I could pretty much anyway.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
We should keep doing that.

Speaker 2 (36:50):
But now it's time for the dudes and the don'ts
in sports.

Speaker 5 (36:55):
Highlight d I.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
Love that Spotlight on the.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
Don't subject brings me no joy.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
That's insane.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
It's time for the dues and the don'ts in sports.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
All right, I'm gonna start it with a big d
do show compassion Bill's Mafia once again, this one showing up.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
I think the world saw this one.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Yeah, yesterday support for Tua after he suffered another concussion.
The Tua Foundation revealed on Friday that he received more
than sixteen thousand dollars in donations following the game on
Thursday night. And the Bill's Mafia is known for really
coming together and raising money.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
They did it for Lamar Jackson. Yeah, yeah, when you
got a concussion against Bill's Yeah, Like, I.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
Like, Bill's Mafia has to be the coolest, craziest fan
base out there.

Speaker 3 (37:50):
Like they're so like mobilized.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
It's incredible, Like they're all in the unit.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Is there like a Facebook group? Yeah, something that like everybody.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
To be Like they had a letter that goes out
like a joint like this is a cod It's so cool.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
It's so cool, especially for good things. Yes, all right,
well and also has to do with that game, but
it's do show emotion. Yes, Mike McDaniel went to suffer
his concussion. He was able to walk off under his
own power. Mike McDaniel leaned into Tua, told him, listen,
you're the quarterback of your family. That's the most important thing.
Go see them, and then he kissed him on the

(38:29):
head and it was one of the sweetest things I've
ever seen a coach do for his player, especially in
front of a national audience. Not that you can't show emotion,
and you should be able to show emotion. I think
that we need to. You can never accuse Mi McDaniel
of not caring about his players. He also showed emotion
earlier in the week. I mean, this has been a

(38:50):
hell of a week for the Dolphins. Yes, Tyreek Hill
was put in handcuffs by Miami police, as was kalay
As Campbell and John new Smith. LEAs Campbell is a
Walter Payton Maan in the Year winner. Yeah he is,
which is one of the highest honors in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (39:05):
No, that bodycam footage was.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Ridiculous, and Mike McDaniel got up there and just really
it wasn't rehearsed. You could tell he was just very
taken by what had happened. How his players responded wanted
to make sure that they knew that he supported them,
and I just I don't know how you do that,
especially to Kalaius Campbell. He is the nicest man, so
I've known him since his rookie year in Arizona. He's like,

(39:30):
I can't even comprehend putting him in handcuffs.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
No, that that whole situation was horrible, but like also
like thankfully caught on camera so everybody could be held
a cannibal accountable.

Speaker 4 (39:42):
Well we're hoping, so hoping.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
We're hoping, so punding in an investigation.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Yeah, okay, let's move on to another du do call
your mom. The Chief Social team did a really fun
like walk in social video this week asking every player
the last time they talked to their moms. Almost every
single Chiefs player said oh this morning, and the few
that did it said, okay, thank you, I'm gonna call

(40:07):
her right now. So every single player and either already
talking to their mom or called their mom right in
that moment.

Speaker 3 (40:13):
I love that so much. These guys are it's I mean,
moms are the real MVPs. I mean, you heard Kevin
Durant say it was like professional athletes because when you
think about all of the practices these guys have to
go through from their youth leagues up into high school.
The moms driving them, moms driving them snacks, moms cooking
for them, moms buying all of the food. You so

(40:35):
much food it takes.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
To feed these giant athletes even when young kids. Yeah,
I can't even imagine. We were four girls and that
was like two fridge foles.

Speaker 4 (40:44):
Like imagine. Oh yeah, boys are like next level.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
I know. I remember hearing like Gronks talked about it before.
Rob has talked about it for five brothers or five boys.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
All Right, when we come back, you guys, we have
the latest QB round up that you're listening to Fox
Sports Radio. Welcome to hour two of Fox Football Saturday.
I'm Alex Curry alongside Carmen Vitally. Thank you for spending
your Saturday afternoon with Carme and me. We've had ourselves
a morning already.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Carmen's already feeling good. She can breathe now that lsu won.

Speaker 3 (41:19):
Now lsu wan, Yeah, I mean they gave me a
heart attack.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
That's okay, you're here, you made it. I have a
bone to pick with my cable provider. I might I
might be one of the few people that has cable left,
like I feel like everybody.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
Honestly, I'm kind of jealous of people that have cable though,
because we've just reverse engineered cable and made it work.

Speaker 2 (41:36):
Which is why I stayed, because I could get every
single sport.

Speaker 4 (41:40):
That's the hardest thing. You can't get every.

Speaker 2 (41:41):
Single I don't want to call out just in case
there's some sort of sponsor with Fox Sports who my
cable provider is.

Speaker 4 (41:48):
But like I, college.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
Football wasn't working this morning, ESPN hasn't been working, like.

Speaker 3 (41:54):
I haven't been able to watch. I have the service
with a quadbox, and I'm very happy with that part
of it.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
Like this is out my My weekends are supposed to
be sports centric, wake up, turn on, watch all the games,
and I did not get that this morning. But that's
okay because we're here now and now I am surrounded
by every single game and we're gonna have a great hour.

Speaker 8 (42:12):

Speaker 2 (42:52):
Okay, we're gonna have a great hour two for you guys.
We have a Bangles reporter for the inquirers this night.
Inquirer Conway joining us in about thirty minutes. So let's
start with a little quarterback round up after our week
one and a week one and a half, and we're
going to start with Tua and that heartbreaking Thursday night

(43:18):
moment for Toua, his family, Dolphins fans when he left
the game with his fourth official concussion in the last
five years, because he's had he had one big one
at Bama. Three in the NFL. Probably more like five
in the last five years, but he ended up passing
concussion protocol for one of them in twenty twenty two,
but did get another official concussion later that week, and

(43:41):
that was when the NFL finally stepped in and fired
the nflpa's independent neurotrauma consultant who cleared Tua and allowed
him to.

Speaker 3 (43:49):
Go back there and then get another game.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
And you guys, this was the elephant in the room,
like the main concern we were talking about to contract
coming into this year and getting a long term deal
because of his concussion history and the fear that one
more big concussion like that could be it for him.
And that was kind of the gut wrenching, heartbreaking feeling

(44:14):
I think that the entire football community got when they
were watching Tua on the ground Thursday night and he
had all the signs.

Speaker 3 (44:24):
Yeah, he did the fencings and doctors talked about, you know,
in twenty twenty two, after he suffered that concussion after
going into the protocol the week before, that his next
concussion could be his last.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
Yeah, he gets.

Speaker 3 (44:38):
Another concussion, I don't know how much more you want
to test fate. And I understand that Tua has worked
so hard for so long. This is this is his
life he loves. We heard Cynthia talk about how much
he loves football.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
We saw it in the to a documentary that Fox
Sports did leading up to him being drafted.

Speaker 3 (44:55):
Yes, and I understand that it not being on your
terms is something that's hard to accept. But at the
end of the day, what is football for Fortua? It's
to take care of his family. You have now with
this new contract, he's been paid out forty three million
already in his there's one hundred and sixty seven million

(45:17):
guaranteed for injury. Forty three million has already been paid.
If he's medically cleared to return, but he opts to retire,
he would forego the remaining one hundred and twenty four million,
but more than likely the Dolphins would reach a customed
settlement with him and take care of him. That is
money that can take care of your family. So is
it worth it to continue playing when you may not

(45:40):
be able to take care of your family in a
physical sense, if you suffer one more concussion or even
at this point, is the risk worth it? When you
have made enough money, not that it's about money, but
when you have made enough money to take care of
your family, to live comfortably and be there for your kids.
He's got two kids.

Speaker 2 (45:57):
This is such a hard situation because at the end
of the day, this is going to be one hundred
percent up to Tua and can you are you willing
to put your life in that danger? And is this
game worth losing your mind and affecting the rest of
your life? As you mentioned, he is married with two kids.
He is only twenty six years old. And I do

(46:18):
understand the other side, Like this team has been built
around Tua from last year to this year. You just
got this big, long term contract that you have been
fighting for. You finally feel welcomed with Mike McDaniel, and
you've talked about it openly. How you how you feel
like you have a support system for the first time

(46:39):
in your NFL career, but you have your whole life
ahead of you. You're twenty six years old, and this
is a very serious head trauma that, like head traumas,
you do not come back from. Once you kind of
jump to that other side of the threshold.

Speaker 9 (46:56):
Five.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
I mean realistically that we know of it's most likely
five major cancussions in five years, and those are just
the ones that we have seen and that we know.

Speaker 3 (47:05):
That doesn't count anything that happened growing up. That doesn't
count anything that happened in high school when things are
not as regulated, when you don't really know it's it's
it's a really really scary thing. And it's also an
impossible decision to make. It has to be so hard
again because I realized that Tua has worked for this
his whole life. This is what he loves, this is who.

Speaker 4 (47:24):
He is, y your and it's hard humanity.

Speaker 3 (47:26):
This decision at twenty six years old for the rest
of your life. But that has to be the lens
with which you are looking at things because this is
going to impact your long term health. It probably already
is going to impact your long term health. Do you
want a tempt fate by? And then also as a player,

(47:47):
can you trust yourself anymore?

Speaker 4 (47:49):
Like why don't you slide the decision?

Speaker 3 (47:52):
I don't understand that decision? But can you really go
out there and play your game if now you are
terrified you are.

Speaker 2 (47:59):
One concussion away from possibly losing everything.

Speaker 3 (48:03):
And that's what we talked about in twenty twenty two.

Speaker 2 (48:05):
And he even said after twenty twenty two season he
considered retirement, right.

Speaker 3 (48:10):
I think that that has to be weighing on him.
And it's really I really appreciate though, Mike McDaniel coming
out and saying this, the most important thing is your
health right now and your health later and your family.

Speaker 4 (48:20):
It is.

Speaker 3 (48:20):
Do not worry about that. He's he told you know, reporters,
don't worry about the timeline. We're not worried about that.
We're not worried about anything other than to.

Speaker 4 (48:27):
As a human being.

Speaker 3 (48:28):
And I appreciate that coming from the organization, coming from
his head coach. Again, you cannot argue that Mike McDaniel
does not care about his players. Yeah, and he handled
this very well because it's an impossible situation to handle
because the Dolphins are screwed without Tua oh one hundred percent.
But they have the right perspective and they have the

(48:49):
right priorities, and that is very refreshing to see from
an NFL team.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
It's that just heartbreaking, is yes, the word that goes
with that whole situation. Let's switch gears and now our
next quarterback. We're going to talk about Josh Allen and
the two and zero bills once again putting this team
on his back and continuing his winning ways against the Dolphins.

(49:15):
He is now twelve and two against Miami, and he
was you know, he was good enough. He was thirteen
for nineteen, one hundred and thirty nine yards in a touchdown,
one hundred and seven passer rating. Now last week he
had to put the team on his back to win.
Last week Week one, he had the third best passer rating.
But Thursday, he saw James Cook was cooking and he

(49:39):
gave him the ball. Like that is what a good
leader does. You pick up the load when you see
you need to do it, and then you delegate when
you see a guy is on James Cook three touchdowns,
two rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown. Everyone was worried, including me,
about the Bills coming into this season.

Speaker 3 (49:56):
I was higher on the Bills.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
I know you are.

Speaker 3 (49:58):
Yeah, I've been hi.

Speaker 4 (50:00):
We were kind of opposite on this, but.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
There was concern about them losing Stefan Diggs their weapons,
but I.

Speaker 4 (50:10):
They look like they could be fine. Cynthia was kind
of talking about this I'm last segment.

Speaker 2 (50:17):
She's like, there is a little concern can he carry
this much of the load, like deep into the season.

Speaker 3 (50:21):
My whole thing. I was fine with them losing staff,
losing Gabe Davis. Yeah, what really shook my faith a
little bit was Matt Mulano's injury on the defensive side
of the ball. And I mean, you saw Buffalo face
even more injuries on Thursday night. Yeah, And that is
the concern because now not only does Josh Allen have

(50:42):
to carry the offense, which we clearly know.

Speaker 4 (50:44):
He can do We've seen it.

Speaker 3 (50:46):
Now has to carry the entire team as in the
defense too. You know, teams are going to score more
than ten points against them, and that's what do you
do in those situations? Are you able to fight back?
Are you able to score third to your more points
every single time you go out? Now, Josh Allen seems
like he's able to do that. And what I said
before the season started too was lean on your run

(51:09):
game as much as possible, lean on James Cook.

Speaker 5 (51:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (51:11):
We saw James Cook go for eleven hundred yards rushing
last year four hundred yards passing. I'm like, those numbers
have room to grow. This guy has room to grow,
and sure enough he gets the hat trick ye on
Thursday night. And I also need them to start getting
their tight ends a little bit more involved. Dalton Kincaid,
for for he caught all four of his targets. Yeah,

(51:33):
but it's only for thirty three yards, So Josh is
kind of going to them in those short yards situations.
But you have two of the best in Dawson Knox
and Dalton Kinkaid, two of the best pass catching tight
ends that you could ask for. Use them in the
past game and especially as Kean Coleman gets up to speed. Khalishkir,
I think everybody has him, Like if you had a
sleeper pick in your Dynasty League, everyone was going for Khalishkir.

(51:58):
We know that Josh Allen can do this. He is
a top three quarterback.

Speaker 2 (52:01):
He's proven that year already already.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
Now I need to know if the defense can figure out.
But the good news is Sean McDermott seems to be
able to kind of hide those holes.

Speaker 4 (52:13):
It's a good way to put it.

Speaker 3 (52:14):
But how long can he do that? And how many
injuries can these guys sustain?

Speaker 4 (52:19):
Not a ton?

Speaker 2 (52:21):
Not a ton? Okay, let's move on to the rookie
debut that the world was waiting for.

Speaker 4 (52:27):
Carmen. You were there.

Speaker 2 (52:30):
At the Bears home opener Caleb Williams. It was a
bit of a rocky start. Defense definitely bailed him out
to win that game. So you saw it firsthand. What
did you see in what was your initial Caleb Williams,
Bear's debut react.

Speaker 3 (52:50):
The fact that the Chicago Bears won a game without scoring
an offensive touchdown is so.

Speaker 2 (52:56):
Perfectly sh Bears defense.

Speaker 3 (52:59):
Bye, I think you should be encouraged by the fact
that your defense did bail you out and your special
teams for that matter. To win a game, coaches will
tell you you need to win two of the three
phases of the ball. The Bears did that. They won
defensively and they won on special teams. They did not
win offensively. This is why I kept trying to temper expectations, Alex,
and nobody wanted to hear it. Nobody in Chicago wanted

(53:21):
to hear it. Nobody wanted to say.

Speaker 2 (53:23):
Everyone was like, stop hating on the Bears.

Speaker 3 (53:25):
I'm not I'm not hating. I'm trying to protect them
from these astronomical expectations when so much of this offense
is new, including the offensive coordinator Caleb pit Keenan Allen
a new weapon. Four of eleven targets that is going
to go up. But these guys just haven't had the
reps together, they haven't played together. Caleb looked uncomfortable because

(53:48):
he is a rookie. His average time to throw was
over four point three seconds, which was the third longest
in Week one. That comes because Caleb Williams is not
comfortable in this offense yet, and that is okay, Hey,
that makes sense. It makes it hard on the Bears
offensive line when you're holding the ball that long. Also,
Caleb wasn't really pushing any of these passes down the field.

(54:11):
He was two for six on throws of over ten yards.
He was zero for three on deep pass attempts over
twenty yards, so you are not getting chunk yardage. And
the Bear's run game was not getting going in the
way that they wanted it to. Nothing was clicking. But
again I am not worried because that was to be
expected for me. They were expected to start slow. Also,

(54:32):
I think that Tennessee defensive front is a lot better
than people are giving a credit for. Devandre Sweat. He's
a rookie. The brute strength that that man has and
how big he is when he puts it all together.
Good Lord on top of Jeffrey Simmons and Harold Landerine,
all those guys. The second half, you saw Caleb Williams
kind of start to loosen up to he started to
play more of his game. And again that was another

(54:53):
thing that was very encouraging, rolling out, scrambling around. There
was something even on the first series that struck me.
It was third and three. It was an incomplete pass.
They did not convert. It was a three and out.
But on that third down, Kaylen Williams rolled out to
his left and he fired to a spot where DJ

(55:15):
Moore was kind of streaking across the field with a
defender kind of attached to him, but he was leading
him and throwing with anticipation while you're on the run
to a spot that only your receiver could have gotten.
I know it didn't work out then, yeah, but just
that vision tells me that with more reps, more of

(55:35):
those players are going to start to hit.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
So he saw the flashes of the greatness and what
everybody was kind of anticipating and talking about and looking
forward to with him on the Bears.

Speaker 9 (55:45):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (55:45):
Yeah, And here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (55:47):
You look at someone like Jordan Love who sat on
the bench for three years, knew his offense inside and out,
just hadn't had the reps on field with his actual players.
It took him half a season to really for Matt Laflord,
really trust him to open up the playbook. At this point,
Shane Waldron doesn't know his players that well. This playbook
is very basic right now, especially watching Shane Waldron's offense

(56:10):
in Seattle, it starts out very basic, and then you
start to build once that trust starts to build. Yeah,
that there's no cheating that. It comes with time. And
that's why I was like, I don't want any immediate
expectations on the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 4 (56:24):
Yes, immediate expectations. It was like the most anticipated debutus.
This is why I tried to temper them in like
a decade.

Speaker 3 (56:32):
Oh god, more than that. I mean, this is I
would say that this was the most anticipated debut of
a Bears quarterback ever.

Speaker 2 (56:38):
Oh well, yeah, Bears quarter I'm saying, like NFL like
college player coming in.

Speaker 3 (56:44):
Probably it's like Andrew Luck.

Speaker 4 (56:45):
Yeah, that's a lot.

Speaker 3 (56:49):
It's okay, Yeah, it's okay. Honestly, like I said, I
am not panicking. It looked worse than I thought it
was going to yes. But yeah, I trust that this
is going to still trend in the upward direction. It's
going to be really tough against Houston and Timika, Ryan's
de We're.

Speaker 4 (57:04):
Going to have those game picks at the end of
the show.

Speaker 2 (57:06):
Here real quick, you mentioned him Jordan Love heartbreaking and
to last Friday's game in Brazil.

Speaker 4 (57:12):
Honestly, we thought.

Speaker 2 (57:13):
Best case scenario sceioin his MCL first we heard three
to six weeks he what's the update?

Speaker 4 (57:20):
Is he out for this? For this weekend? It was
questioned he's listed as questionable.

Speaker 2 (57:24):
Still, I this is this is the big question. Should
he play this weekend or give him time to hell? Honestly,
to me, this is a no brainer. Why would you
risk it? Even if he has some sort of speedy recovery,
Why take the chance of making it worse. Don't risk
the rest of your season? Give him an extra week two? Heel,
this is your franchise quarterback you just paid.

Speaker 3 (57:47):
Yeah, I don't. I don't think there's any real thoughts
to playing him right now. I think this is all
gamesmanship to give the Colts multiple scenarios to prepare for.
I mean, the Packers have no incentive to divulge whether
or not Jordan Love is playing. Yeah, they if they know,
then it doesn't matter. And I think that they are
going to give him some time. They are optimistic. But

(58:10):
the fact, the sheer fact that they have not brought
any other quarterback in tells me that they really are optimistic.
Adds to Jordan Love's timetable.

Speaker 4 (58:15):
Then give him like the three rights, give me two.

Speaker 3 (58:18):
Honestly, I think they were the last timetable I saw
was really two to three weeks. So give him those.
Give him that time. It's probably not gonna look pretty
with Malik Willis because he was not there all of
training camp. But I also trust s Matt Lafleur to
kind of rain in the playbook and simplify it a
little bit so that Malik Willis can operate it. And oh,
by the way, you have Josh Jacobs lean on Josh
Jacobs just and Emmanuel Wilson lean on your backfield, lean

(58:43):
on your offensive line. I don't want to necessarily have
to see Malik William. I mean, I know Malik Willis
has an arm, but he does not know this team.
He doesn't know these guys. He just got there. It's
not gonna look pretty, But just be patient Packer fans,
because I don't think that this is going to matter
ultimately in the long run.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
No, just deep breath. He's not he should not play tomorrow.
I don't think he's playing tomorrow. That would just be
absolutely ridiculous and thankfully best case scenario for Jordan Love.
All right, we're gonna take a quick break here, but
when we come back, Dak got his wish, but Carmen
did not. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back
to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitally,

(59:22):
coming to you live from the tire dot Com studios
here in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending your Saturday
afternoon with Carme and me.

Speaker 3 (59:29):
Christy better than to get me any more boozy.

Speaker 2 (59:31):
Why let's hear more wrapping carm.

Speaker 3 (59:36):
Track idea.

Speaker 4 (59:38):
Well, okay, I want to get you back on track.

Speaker 2 (59:40):
Here for a moment, Carmen, you did not get your
petty Dak wish. Jerry Jones caved at the buzzer last
Sunday around five hours before kickoff, making Das the highest
paid player in the NFL four years, two hundred and
forty million two hundred and thirty one million guaranteed, also

(01:00:03):
the most guaranteed ever the first sixty million dollar a
year player. So basically, we had all of this drama
four months listening to cryptic Jerry Jones, only to have
both Seed Lamb and Dak Prescott get exactly what they wanted.
So all of this drama was for clicks. He said

(01:00:23):
during the off season he was still willing to have
Dak play out his contract and then caved.

Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
I like, okay, yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
This is what the Cowboys do. This is exactly why.

Speaker 4 (01:00:34):
Give everyone a panic attack and then give them what
they want.

Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
This is why I wanted Dak Prescott to go hit
free agency. Not that I didn't care. I didn't care
if he signed back with the Cowboys. I just wanted
him to make the Cowboys sweat because will taste their
on medicine. He had a no trade, no tag class.
I'm going to be very interested to see as more
information comes out about this contract if he still has
a no tag or no trade class in this nude contract,
because that gave him such unique leverage over this organization.

(01:00:59):
Players don't usually get that kind of leverage where they
are calling the shots one hundred percent when it comes
to this kind of stuff, knowing too as Dak Prescott
that if he hit free agency, there was going to
be a bidding war for him, Yes, and you could
have driven that price up even I mean, I get
sixty million dollars a years, a lot of money and stability,
and you're already in Dallas. I again was not opposed

(01:01:21):
to Dak still playing for the Cowboys next year. I
just wanted for it. I wanted Jerry and Stephen Jones
to have to work for it, and Dak did not
do that. And I'm happy for Dak because he had
you know, he's taking care of his family. He has
a daughter. Now, he got the richest contract by any
NFL player in NFL history. That's amazing. I appreciate that.

(01:01:44):
I love that for him. But I would have just
really enjoyed it if you could have held the Cowboys
accountable for how they do it, because they do.

Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
This single time, and all I thought about was you,
thank you your petty request.

Speaker 4 (01:01:56):
I was like, oh, damn carm.

Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
Because they did it with Steedee Lamb. Yeah, game exactly
what he wanted. They did with Zach Martin last year
when you make an offensive lineman work for his contract
and have to advocate for himself. Offensive linemen do not
talk about themselves. Don't make them do that. Zach Martin
was on Twitter talking about his matin rating and I'm
like that, what why?

Speaker 2 (01:02:16):
Also, these are like homegrown guys too, So why are
you ridiculous?

Speaker 1 (01:02:21):
Part?

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
Why are you like this is your ideal scenario? And
that was my thing the entire time, was with Dak,
with CD, with Zach. Those are guys you drafted and
you you should be thrilled to give them top of
the market money because not only did you identify them,
evaluate them, draft them, develop them. Now they're hitting their

(01:02:42):
second or third contracts with you at the top of
the market because they are tops at their positions.

Speaker 4 (01:02:48):
Uh huh?

Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
Why are you hesitating in paying these.

Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Guys drama clicks, headlines being the talk of the town?

Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
H never accused Saria Jones and not know how to
play the game. I'll tell you that.

Speaker 6 (01:03:01):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
All right, now, let's check in with Martin wise and
see what's Trenday.

Speaker 8 (01:03:08):
Got all types of action going on right now in
the top twenty five. Everything just about at halftime though
the game's going on right now, Oregon and Oregon State
the Ducks the nineth three in human Nation with a
twenty two to fourteen lead over Oregon State. Right now,
Miami and Ball State delayed. There's some storms in Florida.
This was the same story, right, I know, right, I
feel like and you'll find this out too and miss

(01:03:29):
sec anything from September October first.

Speaker 3 (01:03:32):
Oh, I lived in Florida for six years, so you
are yeah, I know. There's a storm every day at
four pm.

Speaker 8 (01:03:39):
From four to four to forty five, and then it's
at five point fifteen the Sunday shining at his bright
outside Tulane and Oklahoma. Tulane had to adjust their practice
schedule because of a hurricane and the Gulf of Mexico
as well. But they're at Oklahoma now trailing this fifteenth three.
Sooner's twenty one to six per due per don't right
now against that eighteenth ringth fighting Irish forty two boiler

(01:04:03):
makers nothing. They just got this one started back between Texas,
A and m and Florida again, those storms in Florida
had games.

Speaker 9 (01:04:10):
Delayed thirteen to nothing.

Speaker 8 (01:04:12):
Right now the Aggies over at Florida, Who I saw
a DJ lagway in for a second, but it looks
like Grand Merchants back in there.

Speaker 3 (01:04:19):
Now.

Speaker 8 (01:04:19):
We'll see what they do at quarterback. Iowa leading Troy
ten to seven. Earlier today we saw forgot the Apple
Cup Washington and Washington State. That's a halftime right now.
The Cougars with a seventeen point lead, I'm sorry, seventeen
to thirteen point lead over the Huskies. Alabama pounding Wisconsin
earlier today. Jalen Merroll had four total touchdowns for the

(01:04:40):
fourth ranked team in the nation. Missouri hinded Bill O'Brien
in Boston College. It's first lost twenty seven to twenty one.
Thirteenth rank in Oklahoma beat Tulsa forty five to ten.
Alan Bowman quarterback of the Cowboys. He's just short of
four hundred yards passing five touchdowns through the air. Michigan
beat Arkansas State twenty eight to eighteen. Jordan Love downgraded

(01:05:00):
to doubtful for tomorrow's game against the Colts. Christian McCaffrey
on ir after missing week one, he is now going
to miss at least the.

Speaker 9 (01:05:08):
Next four games. Alex o'carmen back to you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:05:11):
Thank Yeah, that is a lot longer than we thought.
Thank you, Martin. You're listening to Fox Football Saturday. I'm
Alex Curry here with Carmen Vitali. We are broadcasting live
from the Tyrek dot Com studios in Los Angeles, and
it is time for our next guest, Bengals beat reporter
for the Cincinnati in Choir. Please welcome Kelsey Conway. Thanks
for joining the show.

Speaker 11 (01:05:30):
Hey guys, how are you?

Speaker 3 (01:05:31):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:05:32):
Great, happy to have you here.

Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
How are you, Kelsey?

Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
We had a shocking, shocking loss, I think to most
in Week one against the Patriots, what was the mood
at practice and in the locker room this week?

Speaker 11 (01:05:48):
I think it was immediately after the game, like definitely
frustration because the Bengals knew that they didn't play well,
and they knew that they should have won that game.
And I think it was a little bit of annoyance
to some degree that they tried to do some new
things during the preseason to like fix the slow starts,
and it still didn't work. And then as you got

(01:06:10):
to Wednesday, you could tell like the energy was building
again because every time the Bengals and Chiefs have played
when Joe Burrow has been healthy, it's been a shootout
really fun, entertaining games for everyone involved. So it definitely
switched to more energized towards the end of the week.
But there's definitely frustration after immediately after the game because

(01:06:32):
everybody in that locker room knew that they were you know,
they should have won that game. And it wasn't even
just about the two rosters, like the disparity between them,
like the Bengals had two awful fumbles, they they did
not play well enough to win, and the Patriots beat them.

Speaker 3 (01:06:46):
I want to switch then to this week, so we
saw the absence of Tea Higgins. I think makes a
huge difference because while we talk about the Jamar Chase
and Joe Burrow connection, T Higgins is just as important
to this often just as important to Joe Burrow and
making this all click. Now we have T Higgins as
doubtful for this week's game, do you foresee any adjustments

(01:07:10):
being made? What has Zach Taylor said about kind of
tailoring now this offense to make up for the fact
that they do not have T. Higgins? And do you
expect anybody to kind of step up in his place
or who do you expect to step up in his place?

Speaker 11 (01:07:24):
Well, the t Higgins thing was a bummer because he
had really done a lot of different things to try
and make sure he didn't do whatever he could to
have a soft tissue injury occur. It happened in practice
on Thursday, you know, right before the game, so he
had gone through a whole camp and then he tweeted hamstring.

(01:07:45):
So so that's total bummer for him. But I think
what you'll see this week is Jamar Chase was limited
in the first week because he didn't practice during training camp.
They didn't know if he was going to play, so
he wasn't as big a part of the game plan.
Think you're going to see a ton of targets to Jamar,
but obviously the Chiefs are going to try and take

(01:08:05):
him away. So I think some names to keep an
eye on are andre Yoshibas, who is their slot receiver
this year. He was their seventh round pick last year.
They expect big things from him and he was doing
a lot for this offense during training camp. To keep
your eye on him. And I think that they're going
to really rely on Mike Gasiki, their tight end, who's

(01:08:28):
also you could say a slot receiver too. He had
a nice play that if he would have just held
onto the ball in the end zone, he would have
had a touchdown in Week one. So those are two
guys that I think are going to be a really
big part of the passing game. And then when the
Bengals were successful against the Patriots, they had success with
black Box running the ball. But really the secret weapon

(01:08:50):
that I think that they haven't unleashed yet that people
should know about in Peace Brown. Because he's super explosive,
he's fast, and he can take a five yard screen pass,
you know, thirty yards and he saw him do it,
so he's really improved as a pass catcher. So those
are a couple of names that I think is the
Bengals are going to win without t Higgins and have

(01:09:11):
an explosive passing game. I think those guys are the
ones that are going to be heavy targets from Joe Burrow.

Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
Well, let's talk about the main man, Joe Burrow coming
back from the risk surgery, and there were some clips
that went viral this week of him holding his risks
shaking it out during that Week one game. Now, Burrow
did say that the risk is not affecting him. However,
is there any concern in the building with his health.

Speaker 11 (01:09:35):
Right now, we have officially reached a level of people
are diagnosing how he picks up a water bottle to
see if it's okay, like that is a real thing.
But at this point you just have to take him
for his word. And I did see him throw a
couple deep passes in the thirty minutes we were allowed

(01:09:56):
to watch practice this week, So I don't I think
it's a rift thing. I think he did not play well,
and I think it was more mental because he literally
hadn't played in a regular season game with a rush
coming down his throat since the middle of November. So
that's what I talked his Week one performance up to.
I did not chalk it up to it being a
rift situation, but he did say with the ligament injury,

(01:10:18):
like he's got to keep moving it to keep it
warm so that it doesn't stiffen up. And so I
think that he'll be much better as a passer this week.
And as you guys have seen in the last couple
of years, Brow just gets better as the season goes on,
because I think for him, it's he's able to diagnose
defenses better. And so I'm talking week one up too,

(01:10:39):
that just being rusty because he hadn't played since the
middle of November. I did not chalk it up to
a rift thing. But if they struggle, you know, for
the next couple of weeks in terms of passing, and
he doesn't look accurate and he's not throwing it down
the field of confidence, then we might have to circle
back to the rifting. But I think for everyone wondering
about Joe Burrow's risks, like I go back to this point.

(01:11:00):
I put out a story after he had surgery about
what exactly he had done, and I spoke to a
couple of sources in the medical industry and they told
me that the recovery timeline was nine to twelve months,
So twelve months will be November. So I think that
he might still be uncomfortable a little bit, but that

(01:11:22):
doesn't mean that he can't go out there and play,
Like I think that people just like similar to an
acl like, you probably won't feel your best until the
end of the projected timeline. So I think that's just
like important to keep in mind.

Speaker 3 (01:11:35):
Fair well, he also has the help of a better
offensive line in front of him, because in week one
they ranked they were fifth, allowing just six pressures on
Joe Burrow. So you have to think that he has
to feel a little bit more comfortable. From the aspect
of they invest in the offensive line this offseason, it
seems to be working. Do you see him kind of

(01:11:55):
trust that a little bit more and that unlocking some
different things for this offense.

Speaker 11 (01:12:02):
Yeah, And I think I went back and watched it,
Like the first offensive play of the game, he got hit.
Trent Brown did not play well on the right side
early on in the game. And I mean, if you
think about it from like a human aspect, right, like,
if you if that injury happened to you in the
first play of the game in a real game you
get hit, like, wouldn't you like almost kind of overworry

(01:12:26):
and think, you know, worse things possible. I mean, He's
a human. And so I think that as the game
went on, the Bengals offensive line played much better, and
I think there's no reason to believe that in week
two he won't trust them so much more because he
said he thought the offensive line played well, and they did.
They did play well in the second half, So I

(01:12:46):
think for him it was just maybe, like I mean,
he he's very self aware, and he said, you know,
I had happy feet in the pocket, and he admitted,
you know, it wasn't his best game. So I think
that if the one thing is he was denying anything,
but I think the fact that he said that that
they now have one game under their belts. I really
do think he's going to be so much better and

(01:13:07):
the offensive line will play better. But then you're also
now dealing with Chris Jones, who so it's a different
obstacle this week. And Chris Jones, I don't I put
out a stat I like it's some ridiculous amount of
quarterback pressures he's had in games alone against the Bengals,

(01:13:28):
because they will be this will be the sixth time
they've played each other in four years, so he presents
his own issue. So the Bengals offensive line certainly needs
to build off of their second half performance because you
can't have a step back against Chris Jones because as
you guys very well know, he will wreck the game.

Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
Okay, So one more about this big matchup with the
Chiefs tomorrow because obviously since he looking to avoid their
fifth O two start underhead coach Zach Taylor, but Burrow
does have a good head to head record. What are
the few quarterbacks that can say that against Mahomes. Are
the Bengals looking at this as a must win tomorrow?

Speaker 11 (01:14:05):
No, I don't think they're looking at it as a
must win because they've been able to crawl out of
zero to two holes more often than they definitely like
and Burrow said this week, nobody's panicking. But I think
that Burrow all he has said this off season is
when when you're not playing, people forget about you. And

(01:14:26):
so that's why I think expectations were so high for
him coming in the season because it's almost like a
little revenge tour for him, and he knows he needs
to play well in the game of this magnitude a
because if he does not play well the Bengals, it's
hard to go into Arrowhead and beat Patrick Mahomes if
your quarterback isn't playing lights out. But I think it

(01:14:47):
also I going to go back to that confidence thing
for him, like I think if he can go in
and prove to himself again that he is like that
dude for lack of a better term, and he went
into Arrowhead and helped Bengals, you know, avoid another z
and two start, Like, I think that could just set
him on a path of just like domination. So I
think this game, even though like you can't say it's

(01:15:09):
a must win and week two, I think everybody involved
knows the importance and what a win can do for
Joe Burrow in the locker room and the team.

Speaker 2 (01:15:18):
Yeah, it's catalyst, Joey, Joey beats all coming down to you, Kelsey,
Thank you so much for joining us. I really appreciate
all the insight. Have a great weekend and fun game tomorrow.

Speaker 11 (01:15:28):
Of course, thank you guys for having me on.

Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
By guys, all right, we're gonna take one more break here,
but when we come back, we are making our Week
two NFL picks. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Hey,
you're listening to Fox Football Saturday. I'm Alex Curry here
with Carmen Batali. We are broadcasting live from the Tire
dot Com Studios in Los Angeles. Thank you for spending
your Saturday afternoon with carme and me. Now, okay, you guys,

(01:15:51):
it's time for our NFL picks. But we are going
to be keeping score all season long, and we need
to come up with a really fun bet for the loser.
Now we have seen we have seen so many fun
fantasy football like losing bet situations. So we're gonna marinate
on this and we're gonna ask for suggestions. So fans, we're.

Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
Gonna put this out. Don't why are you doing it again?

Speaker 2 (01:16:14):
Some thoughts and suggestions for the loser who wins the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
What you're doing? You know who you're asking?

Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
Yes, and we get to pick this. But it's gonna
be really fun and exciting. So give us your loser
famous sports suggestions. I'm so excited.

Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
You can go through the comments. Okay, I want no
part of this is.

Speaker 4 (01:16:34):
Gonna be epic.

Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
All right, Producer Patrick lead us through our picks this week.

Speaker 7 (01:16:38):
All right, well you know what, I'm gonna unveil our
scores through week one. We do you have a clear
leader as of right.

Speaker 3 (01:16:47):
Now at five and four.

Speaker 7 (01:16:50):
Alex Curry is in the leads.

Speaker 3 (01:16:57):
You're four and five. You're just right there. I'm one
game back. Okay, all right, all right, it's Star making
a brown. He's now dawn.

Speaker 4 (01:17:03):
For week two, let's go.

Speaker 7 (01:17:05):
We have the Bengals versus Mahomes and the Chiefs. Chiefs
are home and six point favorites, Alex the leader in
the clubhouse.

Speaker 9 (01:17:14):
Who are you picking?

Speaker 4 (01:17:15):
Well, I learned my lesson last week, and I thought I.

Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
Did during the playoffs last season, but now I really
have I'm not picking against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
He's too good. Plus, as we just heard, Bengals are
dealing with a little bit of issues with targets. Is
Burrow a HUNDI we don't really know. I'm going with
the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (01:17:37):
I'm going Bengals. I didn't learn my lessons in the
last week. I was the Chiefs one last week. So
like the Chiefs can't win every game this year. They well,
I'm raving like Zach Taylor has had a little bit
of time in marinate on what Ta Higgins being out means.
I just yeah. And we heard Kelsey Jamar Chase is
gonna go off.

Speaker 9 (01:17:53):
You know what?

Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
Fortune favors the bold.

Speaker 9 (01:17:55):
Carmen, I dig it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:56):
We're gonna go with.

Speaker 7 (01:17:58):
Next up, we have Nolins and the Saints at the
Dall's Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (01:18:04):
Carmen, you're bold. What's your bold pick? I'm not that bold,
are you? Absolutely?

Speaker 7 (01:18:10):
Not?

Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
No? Normal. They might be better than we think they are,
but they also played the Carolina Panthers last week, so
I I it's the Cowboys. I'm taking the Cowboys in
this one.

Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
Yeah, Sam, I'm taking taking the Cowboys first home game
of the season. Defense looked good against Cleveland, CD and
Dak got paid. Now they get to show it off
in front of Cowboys Nation like it's happening.

Speaker 4 (01:18:30):
Cowboys, all right, it is happening.

Speaker 7 (01:18:32):
Now we're going to take it back to the NFC
West where we have the Los Angeles Rams in Arizona
taking on the Cardinals. Rams are one point favorite, I
might add, oh did that change?

Speaker 3 (01:18:44):
It did change?

Speaker 4 (01:18:45):
The Cardinals were favored yesterday.

Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
Favorite.

Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
Okay, let's go.

Speaker 3 (01:18:50):
We feeling.

Speaker 4 (01:18:52):
I'm taking the Rams here, baby.

Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
Now they are dealing with some injuries. Pukunakua to their alignment,
replaced on the IR but Matthews Stafford played well in
that ot loss the line.

Speaker 4 (01:19:03):
To Cooper cup of solid. You know he's back. He
looks good. I'm taking the Rams.

Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
Yeah, I'm taking the Rams too. I don't know if
the Cardinals are for real yet, and until that happens,
I really do think the Rams are going to have
a great season. Even with We're gonna go out for
a few weeks. Uh, the old line injuries.

Speaker 4 (01:19:19):
Yeah, that's big bother me.

Speaker 3 (01:19:20):
Yeah, that's bake with Stafford and what Stafford looks like
under pressure. But I still believe in Sean McVay and
and Matthew Stafford and this Rams team.

Speaker 7 (01:19:30):
Well, speaking of teams that we believe in, Carmen, oh boy,
we have your Chicago Bears at the Houston Texans. Texans
are six and a half point favorites. But Carmen, you like,
like I said, we're not.

Speaker 3 (01:19:42):
Picking against the spread, right, No, this is straight up,
straight up yeah, yeah, no, I'm taking I'm I'm taking
the Texans. I mean, the Bears did not score an
offensive touchdown last week, and it worked because it was
the Tennessee Titans. The Texans are not the Tennessee Titans.
The Texans are the favorites in the AFC style, theyre
one of the favorites in the AFC. So yep, I'm
going Texans.

Speaker 4 (01:19:59):
Yeah, I'm also going and Texans all those reasons.

Speaker 6 (01:20:01):
C J.

Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
Stroud and Texans offense is way more locked in. Caleb
Williams has it a little more growing time.

Speaker 6 (01:20:09):
C J.

Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
Stroud had his own growing pains last week.

Speaker 6 (01:20:11):
Kary.

Speaker 3 (01:20:11):
People forget he did.

Speaker 4 (01:20:12):
All right, let's get to our last pick.

Speaker 9 (01:20:13):
All right, last one.

Speaker 7 (01:20:14):
We have Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Detroit Lions. Seven
and a half favorites for the Lions. Alex kick us
through it.

Speaker 2 (01:20:23):
Lions all the way, baby, I mean, they were a
second half breakdown away from the Super Bowl last year.
They are just as locked in this year.

Speaker 3 (01:20:33):
They barely go past Bucks in the post check.

Speaker 4 (01:20:37):
I'm taking Lions.

Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
You know. It's the Bucks secondary injury issues and upfront.
Even with Kelijah Canzy, I can't in good faith take
them as much as I want to. So I'm going Lions,
and I love the Lions.

Speaker 2 (01:20:49):
Thank you so much for spending your Saturday afternoon with us.
We'll see you next week, same time, same place. Happy
football weekend, baby,
