Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. I did my homework.
That's coming right up the first It's that's time. It's
time to say way, yes, it is that Spot Sports Sunday.
He's probably no. I'm Andy Firman. I proudly brought you

(00:21):
by Discover. Just couple manches. All the cash back here
were on your credit card at the end of your
first year. It's amazing because Discovers accepted a ninety nine
percent of places in the US that take credit cards.
Learn more at Discover dot com. Slash yes one Nielson
Report limitations apply. Now now it's that time. Yes, yes,
get the red coppet, get the trumpets, get that balloons,

(00:43):
get them all. My guy, my pot and my friend,
the brains of the office, the man who carries the
heavyweight here, that guy who was always on talking. My
friend Harry is Mr Brian No, Hello, Bay, how you
doing this? Oh my gosh, I'm so excited. I did
the start start yelling for no good freaking rad that

(01:08):
going over there. The disease. You caught it. I love it.
You caught it. It's great. How's everything? How's everything good? Yes,
it's good. By the way, I did mention that you.
And last week you asked me if I had heard

(01:30):
Slip Knot and I took the listen really as you
told me to. And uh, I listened to disaster Piece,
and actually I didn't care for it. I didn't. I
didn't actually care. I said the video as well. I
wasn't impressed. You know what I'm saying. I was. It
wasn't my cup of tea. Put it that way. I
wouldn't pay for a concert ticket to see that. I

(01:51):
three in the deep end for sure. We didn't ease
into that thing at all. I could have gone a
different path. Will make mistakes introducing you to slip not
in a more I don't know, a friendly way. I
just you know, I threw the training wheels completely off.
I just said, and you go Furman and did Yeah.

(02:12):
Props to you for listening. That's you know. I will
say this because you know me. I always one of
my calling cards is super Bowl is two words. You see,
the screwed up all the time. And so I was
driving around and uh, I was flipping channels. I listen
to a lot of comedy radio. There's a lot of

(02:33):
serious channels comedy. I enjoyed those, and uh, I don't
know who said it was, but it was something on
Kevin Hart's comedy station and they had Super Bowl spelled
is one word, and I was about to take a picture.
But anyway, what I'm getting to is slipknot is one
word I saw on the rundown. It's one word, Andy
like the band. At least it's one word. So you

(02:55):
know what, that's the first and last time I love
a spelling anyway, So it doesn't make a difference, you know,
ever know, you never know, okay, but come back, could
come back up again, you never know, very well, could
very well okay, and you know, speaking of alright, alright,
caught it please, And that's mild. That's a lot more
mild than disaster piece over there. How about Psycho Social?

(03:19):
Are you a big Psycho Social fan? No? Stay away
now by the return, welcome back, Nick Nikki Be's back
with us. So we're full of strength right now. And
and I gotta get a beef off my chest. Okay,
My guy, Brian family, the guy does the updates, goes
to Alexia to the due tennis. I said, I'd like

(03:39):
to meet him. I'd like to take off the dinner
a little bit I didn't get one damn phone call
from Brian family to let me know where he was.
Not a phone call, not a tennis Maybe he's busy.
I don't know, but I thought it was a real
slap in the face. And now I know where I
stand with him. Really, Andy, I thought there was no
way that you would make the trek from where you

(04:01):
are to Lexington, Kentucky, because you've never made an effort
in being a father in my life as my biological father,
so why would this be any different. You could have
given it a shot. Here's what I should have done
in a retrospect. What I should have done, Andy, is
say I will pay for your gas, I will pay

(04:22):
for lunch, I will pay for dinner, and I will
pay for your hotel room, so you don't have to
pay for anything. And then I think maybe that would
incentivize come over there to Kentucky and slap your rep.
Let me just say you straight, and it's nothing to
do with the money. It's just the word of like
reaching out. Give me a text. I would have come
down that I would have paid for dinner. I don't

(04:43):
care about the gas. And then I just don't understand
how you could just do that to me, just dis
me like that. But now I know where I stand.
I get it now, I mean, finally, Sometimes sometimes it
takes a move like that to really understand, like wow,
it's like a splash of cold wood, you know. So
we move on. I'll tell you what, man, there is

(05:03):
a lot of truth in kidding around. I can tell
this wounded you, Andy Ferman, I can absolutely tell. And
so going forward, the best thinking about Brian Finley's just
you know, punches, his jabs during his updates body and
how this is gonna be received going forward now in

(05:25):
light of him missing you like this, This is a
whole new dynamic going forward. You know. I even mentioned
to my wife and I think I might be going
down to election for a couple of days at Brian Finley.
Oh oh, the guy that says he's your son. Yeah,
you know I should listen once in a while. And
I said, well, I want to meet him and then
we'll have a dinner of shif fine, I'll be great.
And then a couple of days later, what are you
doing here? How come you haven't gone to election? Test

(05:45):
that I don't know where he's at. You never called me,
never texted me and said, wow, and you work with
the guy, and you work with the guy. Said, well,
you know you're a teammate of the guy. Well yeah,
well okay, I guess in a way, Andy, I didn't
want to be an inconvenience, And I guess that that's
a not a very good excuse being an inconvenience right now,
to be honest with you, that's okay, But I love

(06:07):
that has to be an excuse. But you know, I
know you were busy. But I will make it another time. Yeah,
I will make it up to you. I promise, I hope.
So okay, there we go. I'm now referring to you,
Big B as a deadbeat friend. You're a deadnest friend,
is what you are. We also were kind of like
in a bubble when we were there, like you know,
the whole COVID thing, you know, the Birst bubble. So

(06:29):
I you know, I didn't want to put anybody in
danger too. I didn't, you know, Okay, I can hear that.
So I was thinking about you. It wasn't about me, Okay,
I appreciate that. I really did not. Now to my
friend and partner and the brains of the offit here,
Mr Brian, No props to him. I was a little nervous.
I was budying my nails with the U s of
A with the gold going for the Golden basketball. He

(06:50):
told me way back when, don't worry, it's gonna be there,
and you know what, it was, so props to you
be You're right there. As soon as the gold was
one and I watched the game of an eighty two,
I said, you know what, my guy, he hit it
around the head, so good, good for you. Well, thank you. Yeah,
I appreciate that. There's always freaking out when Team USA

(07:11):
doesn't win by fifty points. And listen, they lost a
couple of exhibition games. They dropped their first game to France.
I can understand more times than not they're being some
freaking out some, but they act like Team USA has
one of the worst talented teams in the Olympics. It's ridiculous.
There's such over the top analysis. It's like, just give

(07:35):
it a little bit of time. They dropped one of
their pool play games. It's not gonna mean they're doomed
to win the gold right, but a lot of people
they took the bait. They took the bait on that one,
and you know, it was good drama for TV to
shut it up, like, oh, they lost the France and
they're gonna come back and play France again. Can they
beat them? For the goal? And France a good ball club,

(07:55):
not at that book club, but you know what, they're
on the same level as the U. S of A.
And it was kind of sand to see Rudy Colbert
at the end of the game put his hands in
his his face in his hands like he was crying
after that game was definitely was but it matters to him,
matters to him, and I would love to see that.
And by the way, shout out to Kevin Durant. My goodness,

(08:17):
you talk about someone who is just sensational in the Olympics.
That dude absolutely bawled out and I threw it on Twitter.
It just do you remember it wasn't that long ago.
All I seemed to hear was anybody who suffers an
Achilles injury, they're never the same, ever the same. There
was a lot of doubt that k d was ever
going to get back to the same level. He's gotten

(08:39):
back to that level and then some he was tremendous
for the nets who were shorthanded due to injury, and
then he goes right into the Olympics when he easily
could have said, you know what I'm gonna I'm gonna
play it safe here. I just had an achilles injury.
You go back to what game five nineteen, the only
game he played in the NBA Finals against the Raptors.

(09:01):
Remember when he blew his achilles and the low life
fans over there were cheering in the moment and there
was serious doubt if this guy was gonna come back.
He was awesome for Team USA and on the you know,
the aftermath of the Achilles injury was great to see.
I'll tell you what, my hats we have also to
all those guys who just finished a grueling NBA career

(09:22):
got on a plane, fly to Tokyo and play basketball
several hours later, That to me means a lot. These
guys aren't getting any money, you know, and they don't
really need the fame, and they did it for that country.
And I love that, I really did. I mean, I
have a new regard now, especially for the guys in
the Milwaukee Bucks who really went through that grueling deal
and like forty eight hours later they're on a plane
in Tokyo. It was amazing. It really was. Yeah, not

(09:44):
bad for Chris Middleton and Drew Holiday, NBA champs and
Olympic gold medalists. Just boom boom, so shout out to
them as well. It's pretty awesome. That's a major league
back to back right there, right. I want to touch
on the NFL because the season basically right around the corner.
They had the game in Canton on Thursday night, and
yesterday they had like the induction speeches at the Hall

(10:06):
of Fame deal in Canton, Ohio. I guess we're the
better speeches right now from Indianapoli coach Indianpola's coach, running
back Drin James, who led the league in rushing his
first two seasons. I tell you what, I think it
probably was the best speech of the night. Let's take
a little listen here toimes of change. Look around the league,
look at some of the young stars. As a matter
of fact, look at my Pro Football Hall of Hall

(10:29):
of Fame bus rocking the same dream as they said
I shouldn't. My closing message probably represent the real youth.
Follow your dreams, aim high and creating life you want
to live and to all those who have been judged
prematurely because of their appearance, the way they speaking, where

(10:50):
they come from and in the minds of minutes, should
be locked up in prison. I represent us and for
every more lies locked up in the Cannon Correctional Institution
three six and the Hall of Fame, my care and

(11:10):
with this gold jacket. How do you like that? Ed?
You and James spoke about he was often stereotyped for
his dreadlots and his gold teeth, and he ends up
with a gold jack. I love that. I think it's
one of the greatest speeches, you know that of the day.
It really was. It was perfect. I loved it. I
love the walk off line. That's great. He started with
cold teeth with the gold jacket. That's great. But you know,

(11:33):
there's a lot of seriousness in there, and I remember
it very well. I'm sure you do too. When Edge
was just tearing up the NFL and there was a
lot of conversation, Hey, Edge, if you know, if you
get a haircut and you kind of lose the gold teeth,
he might be a lot more marketable. You know, you
can earn a lot more money. And Edge was like,
but here's the thing, that's not me, and I appreciate

(11:57):
that he stuck to his guns. There are a lot
of people that they just cave to that they're like, oh, Okay,
I'll change who I am and I can make more money,
and they cave to what they think other people want
them to be. And I respect Edge for never doing that.
It was awesome that it was just like, I'm gonna
be me and let the chips fall where they may.
There are a lot of people that don't do that.
If you just do your job, the world would be

(12:19):
a better place. How do you like that? I tell
you what a lot of common sense there. And I
just hope people take the advice of ed you and
James and tell you. It was a great crowd, but
I had like basically two years of inductees in one shot.
It was good to see the two coaches. Jimmy Johnson
was there. Hey, Jimmy Johnson, let's take a list to Jimmy.
Jimmy Johnson talking about the history that he had with
Jerry Jones. You won't to know what I'm gonna say
about Jerry Jones. Jerry, you told me, you say we're

(12:45):
gonna make sports history before we ever both Cowboys before
you mount Cowboys, because I didn't pay a damn stand.
And you know what, we we did make sports history,
not not only for the Dallas Cowboys, but for the NFL.
We go from the worst team in the league two

(13:08):
years in a row to winning back to back Super
Bowls and building a Hector football team. We did it.
And let me tell you, from the bottom of my heart,
thank you, Jerry, thank you for giving me that opportunity.
That was nice. I tell you that I like Jimmy Johnson.
I remember when I lived in Oklahoma, was coached Oklahoma State.
Never did I dream, and my wildest dreams that he

(13:28):
not only get to the Hall of Fame but coach
in the NFL. Amazing. It really was, well a lot
of kumbai ya between Jimmy Johnson and uh Jerry Jones, right,
they hugged it out before the induction speech, and then
Jimmy Johnson carved out some nice territory for Jerry Jones.
I just listen listening to him, and I never really

(13:48):
thought about it like this. This is the you know,
the front office version of Kobe and Shack. It's really
what it was. Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones, and they
had great success one the two Super Bowls together, but
you just you can't help but think what could have
been if they were on the same page. Right. It's
the same thing with Kobe and Shack. They had great
success on three rings, but you have to wonder if

(14:12):
they got along and meshed better together, what more they
could have done. So I still think about the Cowboys
like that with Jerry and Jimmy. Yeah, and Nikkibi tells
me that Jimmy Johnson is also going to the Cowboys
Ring of Honor. You would think that if you're going
at the Canton, automatically you would be in the Cowboys
Ring of Hona. It's kind of like a funny situation
where I've heard where many athletes have been like baseball

(14:32):
in Cooperstown, but not in their own baseball Hall of Fame.
I don't know how that happens, but it does at times.
It's it's amazing. If you're in the big Hall of Fame,
you better be in your own local hall of fame.
Prior to that, I would think, well, it just shows
you the bad blood. Yeah, right, it's a lot of
bad blood between Jerry and Jimmy. There's some bad blood

(14:52):
between Brian Finley and me. I'll tell you right now,
and he's not going into my ring of honor and
until he shows that he can deserve to get in
the tell you what. We have a big deal today.
We have a big day today. We've got Twitter going
right now at the no show, at the no Show
and no show at Andy Ferman f s R. Or
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven

(15:13):
sixty three sixty nine. Also are a lot of the
clues Bronx Talk Radio with Chris pet that's in this hour.
We got our number two, Nikki be returned with Bonna
Barrel Betting and Brian No it knows pits in our
number three. But he is the real Captain America. That's
coming up next. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports

(15:34):
talk lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows
at Fox Sports Radio dot com and within the I
Heart Radio app search f s R to listen live.
He's a different person now, we'll get to that in
just about a minute twenty two minutes past the hour.
This is Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports. Ready he
is Brian No, I'm Andy Ferman. Thank you very much.

(15:59):
Then were is a time be there was a time
and maybe it's still now. I don't know. When Kevin
Durant k D was a mark man. He was the
NBA villain, and I say, why is that? Maybe the
jump the Golden State for a ring. People got on
his back the way he handled I guess Russell Westbrook's
teammate at Oklahoma City at the time. But now, as

(16:20):
we speak right here and now, after a grueling playoff series,
after the Olympic victory, he represents his country. He wins
a gold medal in the Olympics. More than that, he
got this four year, hundred ninety eight million dollar deal
with the Brooklyn Nates. It's a surprise to me because
he declines his player option. He's gonna remain in Brooklyn. Obviously,
he likes the situation with Harden and Curry Irving. He

(16:42):
wants to win one in Brooklyn. He's a changed man,
and I'm a change guy because I sort of like
Kevin Durant right now. Where he's coming from. Well, listen, uh,
he deserved to get criticized for going to the Warriors.
Let's be honest here. It doesn't change that. But I
do like where he's gone, and since then I hated
that he got injured. You're only you're a low life

(17:04):
if you're cheering for injury. When he went down in
the finals against the Raptor, Yeah, but to see how
he rebounded from that and to nearly carry the nets
to beating the eventual champion box right, they were literally
an inch away. He almost hit the game winner in
Game seven, but was on the line, goes into overtime,

(17:26):
the nets come up a little bit short. But to
not have Kyrie Irving and to have James Harden not
even close to himself, and k D was just carrying
that team against Milwaukee who wanted all. And then he
goes into the Olympics and just absolutely puts on a masterpiece.
It was great to see. So no, I in my mind,

(17:46):
it doesn't change the criticism he got when he went
to the Warriors. Some people will roll their eyes at that,
but to me, it's like you joined the team that
beat you. I'll never change my stance on that. I'm
not down with it, but absolutely support k D. What
he's done since then, he's been magnificent. And I'll tell
you this, I think the best thing he ever did
is jumped at Brooklyn. I'll tell you why. I think

(18:07):
as good as he was and they won seventy one
games when he was there in Golden State, he was
always like the second banana. They could have won it
without him, and I had won it without him before
he got there, But it was always Steph Curry's team,
not his team, and it was always like in the background.
Now this is his team, Brooklyn, no matter what you say,
Brooklyn is his team and he's gonna win it one
day in Brooklyn. Well, I disagree with you. First off,

(18:29):
he wasn't just in the background. He was the finals
m v P for the two titles that they won.
But they would have won it without him. How do
you know that? Well? I know, but I'm thinking they
could have won it without him. Absolutely they could have,
but we don't know that they would have. It's a
different team with k D joining a seventy three win squad.
So I listen, he mentioned it one time. Maybe the

(18:50):
better way to say it is that he wasn't accepted
as you always hear this like he's not a true Yankee.
You heard that about a Rod a lot, and it
was that sort of old. Katie pointed that out where
he wasn't truly accepted as one of the Warriors publicly.
And I agree with that. I don't think he just
blended in and he was a wallflower or something. He

(19:10):
was still Kevin Durant. He was a major asset for
them winning those two titles. I will tell you this,
I knew he was great, and I knew when he
played for Texas he was a heck of a player.
I didn't realize how good he was until he came
to Brooklyn. Maybe there was more exposure on TV watching.
I don't know what the deal was, but I didn't
think he was that good. And he is the best

(19:31):
player in the NBA right now, hands down. I don't
know what to tell you, man. You just laid to
the party on that one. You know. I remember, maybe
with Oklahoma City and some of the things that he
was years and maybe because Oklahoma City is just like
you know, flyover his own, you don't see much of it.
There wasn't much public Oklahoma. He was good. I looked
at the stats, but maybe I didn't see him as much.
I didn't watch him play as much. That had to

(19:53):
be the reason. I don't know what the reason was,
but he sort of came into his own and with
me this year what he did bigos, I kept on
seeing him on TV all the time. I don't know
what to tell you, man. My first theory is that
you were listening to too much slip knot and not
watching a back then. But that can't be the case.
I don't know what it was I don't know what

(20:14):
you were doing when k D was bawling out. He's
the m v P at Okay. See they don't give
m vps to just Dud's over there, you know. But
how many times do you see Okay on TV back
when the day when he was really I don't remember that.
Maybe I don't. Maybe you know Kad and Westbrook at
all the playoff games and think about that epic series

(20:35):
when they're up three one on Golden State. I remember,
I was actually funny story here, Andy Furman, our guy,
the Plankster, right, Chris Plank r FSR Brethren. I was
driving out to l A at the time, and it
was that three one series and I stopped over there
in Oklahoma. Chris Plank's got a spot. It's right. You

(20:56):
could walk to Oklahoma's campus like they're right on campus
and uh, I stopped over there. We went to a
sports bar, watched one of the games, right, but they
were on TV and they played a lot of epic
playoff games when I must have been doing something else.
I don't know, And I look, I knew he was good,
I didn't know he was that good. And they die

(21:17):
because the height that's built up, you know, since he
came to Brooklyn. And I do subscribe to the to
the press in New York City, the New York Times,
the Daily News, New York Post. I mean, it's all
you read is about his k D. And maybe he's
become bigger than life in my mind, bigger than I mean,
the stats were there, but how good he really was.
And certainly when Kyrie went down and Harden only played
forty three seconds in one game, he just took over

(21:39):
that team. And watching him in the Olympics, it was true, Matt.
I mean, I just again, I have a newfound feeling
for this guy. I mean, I didn't enjoy what he
did jumping Oklahoma City and the way he did Russell Westbrook.
I just didn't like that. I can't help but with
what you just like, Wow, I didn't realize he was
good you know, I knew he was good about that
good even that even that reminds me of Kevin Durant

(22:01):
when he was with Golden State and he said something
to the effect he's looking at the reporters and he
was like, y'all know who I am? And he looks
the other say he was like, y'all know who I am? Right,
I am Kevin Durant, Like I am freaking nice as
a basketball player. And uh, you should have been at
that press conference. I think you should have been one

(22:22):
of the reporters with the mike. And so it sounds
like I was really I know, I don't mean to
sound like a fool, like I guess I do sound
like a fool many times. But I look, I I
know he's great, but I didn't just seeing him a
close and personal maybe that's it, you know, just seeing
more of him, you know, kind of lean on me. Again,
I didn't. I saw the stats, and I read the stats,

(22:42):
but I didn't see much at Oklahoma City. Yeah, I
remember the three one deal that I remember, but look,
who knows, yesterday is a different times. So now maybe
I didn't love him as much as I love him now.
I love him now I like what he's done in
the Olympics. I like that he didn't have to go.
You know, Lebron could have gone, he didn't. Oh and
k D went. That's my feeling right there. Well, it's

(23:04):
awesome that he did go. I think it's great, and
that's really they wouldn't have wanted if it didn't go. Well,
I'll just say this real fast. Is you heard this
all throughout the NBA season with the shortened off season,
and there were a lot of injuries, and one of
the big talking points was these guys, they can't play
all these games and all this wear and tear and
YadA YadA. And I know Kevin Durant missed some of

(23:26):
the regular season due to injury. Easily, he easily could
have been like, listen, man, I just had an achilles injury.
I'm gonna play it safe. I'm not gonna go straight
into the Olympics. And we would have looked and said,
that's very understandable. But he went the other way. He
went right in and he was he was unbelievable. And

(23:47):
if not for k D, but who else played well
in the Olympics for Team US. They wouldn't have wanted
without him, they would not have tremendous I mean to
get much help. I mean, every once in a while
he did get some scoring from your guy Dame, but
Dame was Dame was brutal for his standards. He was
not good at all in the elite. There was an
abdomen injury. It came out that he was nursing that

(24:09):
and he just didn't look quite right. He missed the
two free throws at the end of the goal France.
He had to be laboring because that's just not him.
That guy is cold blooded and he was not good
for Team USA. Props for gutting it out, but he
wasn't close to what he normally is. And you know what,
in my warped mind, I'm saying, maybe the problem was

(24:29):
with that stupid ball. Maybe it's the the spin of
the bullets, rough to shoot. I don't know. It was
a crazy bull. It was a multi colored ball, and
maybe it was tough to shoot with that kind of
a ball. I don't know. I have never done that.
I haven't done that, So maybe that was the reason
I was looking for excuses, and maybe that was one
of the reasons. I don't know, Patty, Patty Mills goes
for forty two. Kevin Durant was nasty the whole time.

(24:52):
I don't buy it. Not all balls are equal. Yeah,
there we go. Okay, he's probably no on. Andy Ferman
is his Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio, and
there was never a doubt with this move. We'll explain,
but first look goes back Ryan Family with it later. Andy.
By the way, what is your favorite kind of music

(25:12):
if it's not slip knot? Well I went through that
while you were gone, But I'll tell you what I think.
One of my favorite groups is earth Wind and Fire.
There's a new age group that sounds just like earth
Wind and Fire. I want to suggest to you. Go ahead,
Slayer check it out. Alright, alright, yeah, we'll do. So.
What's one of your favorite earth Wind and Fire songs

(25:34):
from September? It's September September. Oh man, you're getting me
getting me frisky there? Alright? Alright, So the closing ceremonies
at the Tokyo Olympics are happening, happening in about a
half an hour here, and Team USA is going to
come out of this thing with the most gold medals,

(25:55):
the most overall medals, thirty nine golds one more than
kind of that thirty nine coming when the women's volleyball
team was able to methodically take down Brazil in straight
sets for the first US women's volleyball's first gold medal,
and afterwards, their head coach carts Karai could not contain

(26:18):
his excitement as he spoke with NBC Agends at this
moment into wards. I don't know if I can't. I'm
just so happy for this team and these amazing women
in this program. I told them, not only are they badasses,

(26:38):
but they are now. God. It sounds like how Andy
Furman starts off every hour, you know, And that's what
I was thinking. He kind of looks like Andy Furman too.
By the way, Yeah, I don't think any how would
you know? You've never met me. I've seen enough pictures
of you that doesn't sound creepy or anything. So the

(27:01):
Dodgers stuff the Angels five to three. Chris Taylor breaks
the tie with a two run double in the eighth inning.
The Padres upstage the Diamondback six to two. The Giants
nailed down the Brewers nine, six and eleven innings. Any
Ferman's Reds continue their surge up the standings as they
devour the Pirates eleven to three. The Astros are now

(27:22):
leading the A L West by three games after closed
lining the Twins for to nothing. And finally, Harris English
is the top the leader board heading into the final
round at the PGA Tours Saint Jude Invitational. He is
eighteen under overall, two shots behind a man who was
tied for second. That would be Bryson de Shambo. So

(27:43):
that it was nascinated, it was unvaccinated. He is unvaccinated.
He has made that very clear. And his excuses for
why he isn't uh, we've all yeah, you guys know
it's it's yeah, well that back to a man who
never has an excuse when it comes to anything. It's
Andy Furman. And of course God bless you with see

(28:05):
you now. And by the way, the options were few.
And that's coming right up. We got Bronx Talk Radio
and about five six minutes from now, and before we
get into this, quiet Leonard that he's coming back to
the l A Clippers. A question I have and I
know I know it's crazy, but I just I need
to know, and I know Brian know has the answer.
When these Olympics are over. Do these teams travel as
a team or they go individually? Because I know the athletes,

(28:28):
the NBA guys, if the Milwaukee want they zoomed out
to Tokyo on their own. But more often than not,
do these guys travel as a team. There's a volleyball team,
swim team that they will travel the team with their coach,
or they will go the wrong way individually. How does
that work? I don't know. I would imagine that if
they're going back to the States, they would go together,
but um, if they're going their separate ways, yeah, they

(28:49):
might go. I don't know. Now that it's a pandemic,
I don't know how many different flights are gonna happen.
But in normal times, I could possibly see some guy
from one of the national teams saying, you know, I'm
gonna tour Australia or I'm gonna go to Europe or
wherever I'm gonna go. If I'm already abroad, they might
just go somewhere else. I don't know. I'm not sure

(29:11):
about that. And because i'd like to know, just say,
for example, like the men's swim team, Okay, you got
the coach, the coach has these various athletes on his team.
I guess they're all meeting in one place and they
leave from that spot as a team, I would think.
I don't think they just individually go and so I'll
Meeky and Tokyo. I don't think that works that way.
I wouldn't think. So I'll find that. Well, let's do

(29:31):
something that. It was different with the like I mean,
think about it with Chris Middleton, Drew Holiday and also
with Devin Booker. That never happens where you've got the
NBA Finals ending and then boom the Olympics in a
couple of days. It just doesn't work out like that.
It was a weird deal this year certainly was. I look,

(29:53):
this is a weird deal to with quite lended he's
gonna go back to the l A Clippers. He declined
his player option like something like thirty six millions to
become a agents. He's from l A, so I guess
he wanted to stay. There's recovering from the partially touring
write a c l which he had an operation on
back in the thirteenth of July, so I gotta believe
that the options was somewhat few for him. I don't
think a lot of teams wanted to take that chance

(30:13):
with him, and the fact that you know, he didn't
have many options, plus he wants to stay in l A.
I don't think anybody's really surprised that he's gonna stay
with the Clippers. I just I don't understand where you're
coming from on this one. Really, me, do you really
think that no teams wanted Kawai Leonard believe that here?
It's crazy. You are out of your mind. Like there,

(30:35):
if Kawhi Leonard wanted to go somewhere else, he could
go somewhere else. It's not as if Kawhi Leonards like,
I'm gonna open this thing up and I'm a free agent,
Like this is just a Chris Paul deal. Chris Paul
declined his final year for what forty four million dollars
and he re upped for more money over the long haul.
That's all that's going on here. I's that is if

(30:58):
Kawhi Leonard said I'm gonna opt out and see what
suitors I have on the open market, and he's like
it's just tumbleweed, right, no one's interested. He's like, I
guess I'll go back to the Clippers. That is not
what happened. Well, I think ay he wanted to stay
in l A regardless of what kind of suits he
had out there. That's number one. Number two. I still
believe in my heart of hearts that people would like

(31:18):
scratching the head say, I don't know if I want
to take a chance with the guy with the A
C L. I really believe that. And I think that
there weren't that many suitors out there. I mean I
had I did some research on this and read as
much as I could. I didn't really see many teams
making that bid for him. I think there was a
story way back when that the Knicks were looking maybe
for potentially getting him. But I think that the partially

(31:39):
to an A C I was a factor, not a
major factor, but a factor. Andy, there's the two schools
of thought here. Okay, if there is a just a supermodel,
right just drop dead gorgeous, smart, all the things going
for her. If she's not paying any attention to you whatsoever,

(32:03):
you got two options. Some people will still shoot their shot,
and other people will say that's not happening. Why bother
and the n b A largely did the ladder with
Kawai Leonard. If Kawai Leonard doesn't have eyes for them,
why are they going to pull out this full court press?
Oh you know, you're right, you know, And he never
mentioned anything about it. But he's that kind of a

(32:24):
guy anyway. Now. He never really is public about much
he really is. He's kind of quiet all the way,
even when he was in Toronto. Just a quiet kind
of guy. But who knows. You Look, I'm happy he's staying.
I think it makes the West even what's even tougher
than it wasn't you know? Without him, that Clippers franchise
basically goes caput. Well look at this to think about
Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant jacked up as achilles with the Warriors,

(32:49):
and you had team after team after team more than
willing to give him a max deal all out of
the Brooklyn Nets. They were just one of the teams
trying to get k D. So and we the horror
stories of players not coming back and getting to their
same level with an achilles injury. If KD can come back,
I mean from a partially torn a c L Kawhi

(33:10):
Leonard can come back to And the point is it
would have been the same exact thing. If Kawhi Leonard
was actually open to going somewhere else, you'd have many
teams vying for him. Don't buy this whatsoever, Andy like
he had to go back to the Clippers and couldn't
go elsewhere. That I think he wanted to go back
to the Clippers too, not that he had to, but
he wanted to. But he's from l A. I mean
that's why he initially went there. I mean, he's from

(33:31):
l A. Wants to be there. Who wouldn't want to
be in l A? Would you rather be in Toronto?
And they went to Time or l A and they
went to Time. Well, and listen, he hasn't finished what
he started over there. And look, I mean without him
what he missed the last seven games in the playoffs.
You know, the one thing I didn't like the fam
We discussed this that he was watching one of those
games and one of those private boxes. He could have
been on the bench, you know a couple of games,

(33:53):
there were multiple games he was up in a owner's
suite or you know, one of those luxury boxes. That
was a hideous, hideous look for Kawuahi Leonard. You gotta
be on the floor with your teammates. Man, you can't
be up on your perch as if you're getting fed
grapes and fan like. Dude. Come on, remember when when

(34:13):
Lake bent backward like that same game? Come on, man,
you gotta Chris Paula. Dude. That in Houston too, when
he was here. I remember he's on the bench. But
you know, and again I'm not gonna hit he said,
defend the guy. But we don't know. He may have
been invited up there by a business guy and he
could have declined and he shoot at the clients. Hey, look,
I'm a teammate. I gotta be with my teammates. You know,

(34:35):
I gotta be with my team. I'm with you. I'm
with you on that, Brian No, Andy Furman, this is
a good look. We call it Fox Sports Sunday on
Fox Sports Radio. And of course the streets are hot,
and so are the tempers. Bronx Talk Radio, it's freaking
next Bronze Talk Radio, coming right up about twelve minutes
before the top of the hour. This is Fox Sports Sunday.

(34:57):
He's probably no on Andy. Remember right now, let's go
to the Bronx guys. It's time to channel your Inner
New York. Here we want to hear all the rationalities
you can spew on the hottest topics of the day.

(35:19):
Here's something we like to call Bronx Talk Radio, posted
by the Great Chris p Well. The hoo freaking ho
do you guys he has? Christmas comes down in August
for the us of freaking a freak? Do you okay?
He ruined it? All right? That's good? Hey? Did you

(35:41):
guys see this? In uh? Los Angeles? The Astros finally
came back to Chavez Ravine first time since the freaking
World Series. Uh and the trash raindown, the booze rain down.
People are picking fights in the stands, throwing trash cans
onto the field, balls back onto the field. You know.

(36:03):
The Dodges blew up thiggers. They should have done a promotion,
given out garbage cans to the fans. That's what they
should have That's what I would have done. I would
have made a good buck on it. You know, they're
never gonna be over that one, and they shouldn't. And
then they shouldn't play in the Astros as much it's
playing the Commissioner of Baseball, who did nothing should have
taken that title away stripped the title from him. I

(36:23):
agree with all that, but also you still blame the
freaking astros over there were they cheated? Did it cheated? Yeah,
they cheated. They did the cheating. It should have been
trash can night over there was. I agree, like they
have like freaking inflatable trash cans. They just kind of
hid and brought into the stadium and threw it out
into the outfield there. It should have been remember the

(36:44):
vovo zelas for it should have just been paying it
on trash cans the whole night over there with the
astros didn't pound he speaking of voo Zela's and soccer,
you see this. Leonel Messi is now up on the market.
FC Barcelona has said that they've had financial troubles. They're

(37:05):
having a press conference right now for a farewell for
Lionel Messi leaving LC Barcelona. The biggest sports star on
the planet period. He's now up for grabs. Who do
you thinking him? Where do you think he goes? I
want to the MLS, MLS. I love it the MLS.
I'd love to see it. Though he's not old enough

(37:28):
to go to the MLS. I'd like to see it. Though,
let him be a player coach whenever I don't care.
Watch out for ps G, watch out for that. There's
a little bit of there's some they're looking into it
over there. Dad went and gwent to Paris. Is like, hey,
ha ha, there's some smoke over there might be some
fire as well. But get it together, Boscelona, get your

(37:51):
finances in order. You can't just lose. How do they
do that given a piece of the club. Do they
have an accounting error or something. It's like, oh, sud
we can't afford MESSI now, oh no, it's amazing. That
is an amazing story. Imagine that, seriously. Image if that
happened in the NFL. Now there's a salary cap here,
so we're gonna have to suspend reality for a bit.

(38:12):
Imagine if the chief said, all right, we'll give you
a half bill Patrick Mahomes, and then they look and
they're like, oh, we don't have the cash. We can't
do it. I guess he's on the open market. A
lot of freaking mind story just close to wi over here,
the Brooklyn Nets, Canon Flod Kevin Durant right, it would
be wild because he just happensievable. Speaking of New York. Though,

(38:34):
uh maybe maybe Messy you mentioned play a coach. Maybe
we could have Leonel Messi coming to the freaking Giants
and figure out what's going on with the freaking Giants.
Joe Judge made everyone run gasses because he got mad
at a hit. Three guys in the last four days
have quit the team, Zach Fulton, Todd Davis, Joe Looney
rather than go through training camp. Jason Garrett's out here

(38:56):
freaking demand everyone call him coach? What's going on with
the free Giants? Acting like a freaking high school coach.
That's what he's doing. These a men treat him like men.
That's what you gotta do. That's a joke in the NFL.
Gasses Well, listen, man, that is a bad look when
you've got numerous players just retiring that like, we can't

(39:16):
be doing We're not doing Oklahoma drills anymore. Like Benzel
said in Trading Day, that day is dead dog. We
don't roll like that no more. He's old school to
a fault over here, Joe Judge, Jason Garrett, you want
to be freaking called coach over here? Stop freaking clapping
all right? Calling card over there? That was his thing.
In Dallas. He was the freaking clapper over here. Coach,

(39:39):
he said, he don't call me coach, call me the clapper.
Don't call me coach. Don't call me coach. That you
can set it to a clap. Oh, I see it.
We go into the final story. I got here though
for you, just like the real thing. So we got
the Titanic Museum. I heard about this. Three were injured
the Titanic Museum I down in Tennessee. It was a

(40:02):
Tennessee based Titanic Museum attraction. Three people were injured by
get this the replica Iceberg. Yeah, just like the real thing, Andy,
just like the real thing. It's happening all over again.
Titanic experience over here, except no Leonardo DiCaprio and no
sleeen freaking Dion. Alright, real quick, funny story over here.

(40:25):
So a girl I know in Dallas, Texas, Rachel shout out,
great girl. She came to see me. I was living
in Indianapolis, and we passed a sign and there was
a sign for a museum. I didn't know who it
was for. She was like, it's a US president. Anyway,
she follows that museum on I g and found out
about the glacier coming up? Are you stalking her? No?

(42:16):
b Howia good Andy Firman. Now I'm here to expand
your musical horizons please. So you mentioned this very good
Earth Wind and Fire song September. You're fond of this song,
and it just made me think it starts off with
the same lyrics as a much heavier song. Okay, so
here's the song that you like. Yeah, class, let it play.

(42:39):
Come on, No, no, no no, that's how you get. That's
how you get because we're focusing on the first three
words over here, all right, do you remember? So it
reminded me of if you want to get a little heavier, Andy,
And this could be your homework assignment after the show today,
we're going down the Lamb of God Boulevard here. Huh,
little Lamb of god metal music. Let's hear the diff

(43:00):
prints with them singing the same lyrics to begin the
song ghost Walking. So you know, a little a little
bit of pizzazz in your diet over there, a little
more sugar in your coffee if you will, you know,
do you remember? Yeah? Yeah, You're not gonna hear those
lyrics the same way anymore. You're gonna think of forward.

(43:22):
Why do you made? I'm I'm helping you out over here.
Absolutely appreciate it. Thank you. You're expanding my musical horizons.
By the way, we were talking soccer for a second
with Lionel Messi and everything that happened with Barcelona. Looks
like he's going to ps G. I don't know that
it's an official deal, but it might be official very

(43:44):
soon here and luckily Chris and I we pulled our resources.
We put everything we owned on on p s G
plus twelve hundred with the possibility of them signing Messy.
So it looks like we're about salary figure that mentioning
I don't know. Oh, he's gonna make insane amounts of money.

(44:06):
The published report about how much you'd be making this,
We're we're talking like maybe six digits just by like
how much he is owed. Yeah, it's last deal and
he's making around six hundred million dollars, Like this is
not I mean it's yeah, it's gonna be insane coin
when he goes out by comparison, by the way, just
to show you just how difference this is. I think

(44:28):
we were talking about this. The heart the highest played
payer in MLS is I believe Carlos Avela. Who's I
think this year getting I I believe it's six point
No that that that's right. I'll have to do research.
I want to make sure I've got this right on
my salaries. But but that and that was including everything

(44:48):
that wasn't just salary, right, Chris and I were talking
about this. We're having a soccer pow wow over here
a couple of minutes ago. Andy and I was just like,
because Chris went through the odds p s G was
plus tw hundred, MLS was like plus two thousand, where's
Messy gonna go? And I'm like, dude, you only go
to MLS if you're out of options. And I really

(45:09):
I was like, Messy might make way more than everybody
else in m l last I'm like, who makes the most,
and he's gonna make more than some of these teams
spending so inter into Miami is the highest spending club
in MLS. They are just they are spending just shy
of eighteen million. Carlos Vela is the highest compensated player

(45:33):
in MLS at six point three million, and we are
talking almost probably a hundred times that for Messy. Yeah,
but most of the guys in MLS have had the
heyday in Europe the retirement home league. Yeah yeah, I
mean when when I worked in the n A s L,
it was George Best who had his best days in
England and then he came to four Lauda Dale. You know,
his better days were behind them. That's the way it is. Yeah,

(45:54):
that was that was the deal with Slaton slat In
Embrahimovitch when he came over to Galaxy and he was
just bagging the league because of that. Yeah, that's not
where Messy is right now. Just think about this. Barcelona
couldn't afford him and they've paid him millions were millions
of dollars, Yeah, and they couldn't afford the guys. So no,

(46:16):
he wouldn't be caught dead m MLS, right, No, not
now he's got time. He's got plenty of time. Speaking
of money, I'm glad you brought that up. Because Josh Allen,
the quarterback in the Buffalo Bills, he agrees to a
sixty year contract extension two fifty million dollars, and I said,
he's the richest man in the state. He has to
be the richest man in the state of Wyoming, where
he's from. So I gotta believe that. I mean, there's

(46:37):
only you know, I checked this out, there's only five
thousand people living in the entire state of Wyoming is
the smallest state population wise of them all, second only
to Vermont. Vermont is next, but Wyoming is this the
smallest state as far as population. So you know what
they cashed in and that's pretty good. Right now, he's
the second highest paid quarterback beyond Patrick Mahomes. So the

(46:58):
question has to be asked, where does this sleeve Baker Mayfield?
And I got the stats to compare, not saying that
Baker Mayfield is better than Josh Allen. However, let's look
at this be Allen sixty completion, Mayfield sixty one point nine,
Josh Allen seven yards of career Mayfield eleven thousand plus

(47:19):
Josh Allen sixty seven touchdowns, thirty one I n T s,
Mayfield seventy five touchdowns forty three I n T s,
and may Field within any nine point one rating, Allen
with a ninety ratings. So the hand in hand, I
guess the bottom line figure for quarterbacks right now has
to be forty million a year. So I don't think
Mayfield is gonna get anything less than forty either. Is
Lamar Jackson. Well, first off, Baker Mayfield can't hold Josh

(47:43):
Allen's jock. Let's get that straight right away. I'm just comparison.
I'm not saying who's better, just showing showing comparison statistics.
That's fine, that's great. But Josh Allen, he was a
late bloomer. His first two years he was hot, trash,
he was not good at all, And it was astounding
what he did. The improvements he made accuracy wise, and listen,

(48:05):
picking up Stefun Digs trading for him was for Buffalo,
There's no doubt. But he didn't throw just to Stefund Diggs.
Last year he improved his accuracy. He was so much better.
I can't believe he made that quantum leap from year
two to year three. I still can't believe it. But
Josh Allen is a top flight quarterback. Josh Allen is

(48:28):
legitimately the fifth best quarterback in the NFL. Baker Mayfield
is not sniffing the top ten. Baker Mayfield as a guy, Okay,
but that contract given to Josh Allen certainly will help
Baker Mayfield and Lamar Jackson, no doubt it will help them.
But you can't even think about paying Baker Mayfield the
same amount of money. He's just not that caliber of

(48:50):
a quarterback. Right and two years ago went through his career,
there was questions about Allen was going to be a
bust as a number seven overall pick. Look where he
is now, Yeah, he's not a bust um and Baker listen,
he's He's okay, he's average. I don't want to make
him out to be just some dud. He's not, but
he is. He's an average quarterback. He's one of these

(49:12):
guys where no listen on the strength of play action,
He's a lot like Jared Goff. That's the same sort
of category I would put Baker Mayfield in, meaning when
the running game is working, when you can play action
off of the running game. He's more in the mold
of a Jimmy g Jared Goff. That's Baker Mayfield, and
he's had a lot of talent around him to work with.

(49:34):
That's also the case with Baker, but he is one
of those guys where it's got to be the structure
of the offense. There's some similarities between Kevin Stefanski, very
good game planner and Kyle Shanahan, great game planner with
San Francisco. But Baker has to thrive in an offense
like that. He's not gonna be a drop back guy.
Sheer athleticism like Josh Allen. He's just not that caliber

(49:56):
of a quarterback. Right And I'm just saying that it's
a good move that they' sickly Josh Allen got the
cash up front now because now Baker Mayfield has some
leverage at least because where the money is. And never
saying that he's better than Josh Allen, he is not.
His status are similar, and I'm sure his agent will
go in there negotiating say, well, look at the status

(50:18):
they're very similar. Well, again, I think that you have
to say that Baker Mayfield probably is the best one
to running punch in the National Football League with Chabin Hunt.
They're they're tremendous back there, very good offensive line weapons
to throw to. You get, oh, b J back this year,
had Jarvis Landry. You got a lot to work with
over there. But to your point, you think about the
Ravens and also the Browns. Do they get deals done

(50:41):
with Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield perspectively, you have to
throw that in there all the time. Do they get
deals done before the season begins or do they take
a little more of a wait and see approach, wait
till the next season. We thought we were heading there
between the Bills and Josh Allen, where it looked like
they were going to wait this worth season, see where
things stood, and then possibly break him off with the

(51:04):
monster extension. They went the early route. I wouldn't have
gone this way, Andy, I would have waited and seen
because Josh Allen, as great as he was this third season,
he has one year of outstanding production and two stinky years.
So as much as I want to believe he's the
real deal, if I'm the Bills and I'm thinking about

(51:26):
giving him a hundred and fifty million dollars guaranteed. I
gotta see more and if that cost me a little
bit more going forward, okay, but I would rather safeguard
myself a little more and see more from Josh Allen
before giving him that extension. And yes, it was a
breakout season. It was a COVID related season, a breakout season, nonetheless,
And again, can he continue, will he move forward or

(51:50):
will it be a regression this year? That's the big question.
I'll tell you, what were you showing out that kind
of money? You know that's said. That's a tough call.
It really is. I don't know what you do, but
you want to make you a happy and maybe that's
what he wanted. And now he's he's happy, but will
he be statistically happy? That's the key. Well, listen, I
just think that I hear you in terms of making

(52:11):
your guy happy. But if they said, hey, we're a
little bit too far apart, you know what, let's not
negotiate during the season. We'll pick this conversation back up
after the season is played. I don't think that Josh
Allen is just beside himself down in the dumps, not
feeling the love, right. I don't think it's this catastrophic
situation if the Bills don't extend him before this season.

(52:35):
So I wouldn't have done it. I think it's premature. Listen,
if Josh Allen continues on this path of stud l nous,
they might have saved themselves some cash in the long run.
I'm just saying I would give myself more outs and
I would want to see more than just one outstanding
season before I gave him that type of money. But
they felt otherwise. But I will tell you this much again,

(52:56):
Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield, they're real happy that they
did come up with the cash because now they've got
some bargaining chips. However, I worry about Lamar Jackson because
he really doesn't have an agent negotiating for him. He's
got his mother and he's got some business people. So
I don't know if that's could have hurt him. I
think it may very well hurt him. Well. The thing
that worries me about Lamar when you're thinking about giving

(53:19):
him similar money like what Josh Allen just made Lamar
Jackson former m v P right. His credentials speak for themselves,
but man, the guy takes so many chances running the football.
This isn't me like crusty nine eighties NFL analysis, where
the quarterback must drop five or seven steps, stay in

(53:39):
the pocket, don't even think about running, and deliver a
past accurately. You can use your athleticism. I'm all good
with dual threat quarterbacks, but the punishment that Lamar Jackson
willingly signs up for his way too much for my taste.
And when you're thinking about giving him a hundred and
fifty guaranteed Lamar Jackson, the amount of chances he eggs,

(54:00):
I just don't feel comfortable with that at all. Of
from the Ravens. And plus he's only won one playoff game.
He got that monkey off his back last year. But
still in all that was a big thing for him,
one playoff game. He's got to improve his downfield passing.
That's the key right there. And look, you talk about
a running quarterback. We saw r G three he was
a running quarterback. What happened Boom? His career is over.

(54:20):
You just can't rely on that because eventually you're gonna
get knocked out and you better start doing something else. Well,
a couple of things, right, Look at Dak Prescott, Dac
was incredibly durable, but he signed up for a lot
of punishment running the football, and Doc has built like
a house. But you see that not your entire body
is built like a house. Right when when your leg

(54:40):
is pointing north and your ankles pointing east, if you
you know, you have this awkward tackle against the Giants
and that was brutal. Five games in and he's on
the shelf for the rest of the season. So there's that.
It's it's just worries though. Man, I have no problem
with Lamar using his athletic ability. That's what makes him dynamic.
But I just want to see more Russell Wilson meaning slide.

(55:04):
Get what you can get. Slide, don't take that punishment
because it's one thing if Lamar gets hurt on a
rookie contract, but if you're shelling out a monster extension.
We're talking forty million a year territory, you've got to
feel confident that Lamar is gonna be upright throughout the
entire season. I just don't feel confident right there. And also, listen,

(55:26):
Lamar has been dynamic in the regular season, at least
he was in his MVP season, but man, he has
not exercised all the playoff demons. He was brutal against
Tennessee a couple of years ago when they were expected
to be in the Super Bowl or contend for the
Super Bowl, and last year against Josh Allen's Bills, it
was a pick six by Lamar that lost the game
for the Ravens. So there's still a lot of work

(55:48):
to be done in the playoffs. I think that the
second year player, Jake Dobbs, the rookie last year from
Ohio State, I think he's gonna be a key to
take a lot of running game out of Lamar Jackson.
I really believe that he rushed for almost eight hundred
yards last year and by nine touchdowns. But I think
that he's the guy that takes someone that pressure off him.
But that but that's Lamar's game anyway. I mean, he runs,
that's his deal. And eventually, I don't want to see

(56:09):
him get hurt. I don't want to see anybody get hurt.
But you know, basically the numbers are against him. He
eventually will because that's the nature of the beast. Well,
it's just not a good long term formula. You can't
be the army of the NFL. Right, like we're not
running the triple option or the wing t over here.
You can't run your quarterback in the NFL. As much

(56:30):
as the Ravens do. The remain upright, it's just not
gonna happen. And look, they're gonna run the ball like crazy.
J K. Dobbins might have a good season, but Lamar
is gonna be doing his fair share of running. That's
just how they get down. But it is not a
long term formula where you have Lamar Jackson running, running, running,
taking all of that punishment and being dead last in

(56:51):
passing offense. It's just not sustainable over the long haul.
You're exactly right. He's Brian No comments welcome on Twitter
at the No Show or at Andy from an US all.
We'll read him, we'll retweet him. Were better yet? Eight
seven seven ninety nine Fox, that's a free call. It
is eight seven seven sixty three sixty nine. We got
bona barrel betting with Nikki be. He's back in the
fold this week. Nikki b is back with b B.

(57:14):
Bead in this hour and Brian No has known his
picks an hour number three. But the old man has
something important to say. That's next. Will you hear this,
and you will just about a minute twenty two minutes
past the hour. This is Fox Sports Sun They uh
Fox but trading. He is Brian No. I'm Andy Furrman.
Before we roll on, a little sad news just came

(57:34):
across right now. Be Bobby Bouting, a longtime Florida State
football coach who ranked second old time and Division one ruins,
has died this morning. He was ninety one years of
age and thirty four years in Florida State. He had
only one losing season, so I know back in July
it was diagnosed with a terminal medical condition. He didn't
disclose what the condition was then, although with son Terry

(57:56):
later to reporters that it was pancreatic cancer. So God
blessed Bobby Bowden and his family, and we send them
our prayers and wishes to them. And it happened, but
ninety one, he he made it to ninety one. God
bless them. Yeah, absolutely, and one of the great uh
icons of college football, right, Bobby Bowden and the success

(58:18):
that he had at Florida State. Florida State was nothing
before Bobby Bowden and he took it over and they
were an absolute powerhouse. For a long long time over there,
and a great character. Yeah, I just I loved Bobby
Bowden in terms of just his demeanor in general. I
always remember him the one versus two game Notre Dame
Florida State and ninety three with Charlie Ward and the

(58:40):
Seminals eventually won a national title. That same year he
won another one, so two time national champion. And I
liked what Terry Bowden said within the last two weeks because,
like you just said, Andy, Terry Bowden is the one
who announced it was pancreatic cancer. And he said, so
y'all just maybe just give him a little bit of
time on his own. And he's like he'd every interview

(59:00):
even now, so you know, just keep that in mind.
Give him a little bit of time to himself. But
h he'll be missed, absolutely, but great great life to
make it to experience everything that he did thirty four years,
one losing season amazing, it really is. And and it
dispels the room with that. The school attracts players, Yes,

(59:21):
schools do attract players, but Florida State is nowhere near
it is today as it was when Bobby Bowden coach.
And I'll tell you what you look at Alabama, I mean,
what's going on right now? They've basically a dynasty in
college football, But prior to Saban they had some down years.
They really did, so you know, the coach has a
lot to do with it. And people say, well, you
know the school they gonna want to go. No. No,

(59:43):
Look at schools like Tennessee. They were really tough and
big and very powerful. And the Tennessee's had some ups
and downs and right now more downs than ups. They
really have. They were a long time power over the
years as well. So it was the coach that makes
the school. It really was. Well listen, man, it uh.
I think sometimes we we look at schools that are
on autopilot in terms of winning a bunch of games

(01:00:06):
and getting the recruits, and it's just the cycle. But
I think we oftentimes overlook how hard it is to
get a program to be that level of prominence. And
that's what Bobby Bowden did at Florida State. That was
no easy task to get it to a team that's
winning double digit games season in season out, but he
was able to pull it off, man, and they were

(01:00:28):
they were on autopilot for a long long time in
terms of winning games left and right and getting all
those top recruits. They were a machine for a long time.
And you could count the one hand maybe the schools
that continue to roll regardless of who the coaches, and
I'll put Ohio State on that list, you know, obviously
they are, and just certain schools that basically keep on

(01:00:48):
Oklahoma shiping on that list, and a school that really
basically came out of nowhere in the last five to
ten years, just Clemson. They weren't a football power, but
now they are. Yeah, it wasn't that long ago that
dabbos Eny was bristling when a reporter was asking him
about Clemson ing, right, and that meant it was Clemson
losing to a team they shouldn't lose too, and Dabbo

(01:01:11):
lost it. It seems like it's ancient history to talk
about Clemson Clemson ing. But you're right, they've built that up.
Dabble built that program up to be on autopilot right now,
meaning they're winning games left and right, they're consistent top
five team, they're in the College Football Playoff, and they're
just getting recruit after recruit after recruit. That is not

(01:01:31):
an easy task, but that's exactly what Dabbo has done also, Yeah,
and and schools that basically were near the top that
have not gone back to the top. Miami of Florida
that basically one of them. I mentioned Tennessee, they're one
of them. And there's certain schools that just can't get
up to that next rung on the ladder. And maybe
the coach that had something to do with it. Georgia,
I mean even Georgia at one time they were right

(01:01:53):
near there. You know, it didn't really make it to
the top of the mountain. They're close, they're climbing the mountain,
but they never really made it to the top of
that mountain. Yeah, pretty darn close. So you have to
walk off touchdown with two a tongue of viola, you know.
To Davante Smith, that's as close as you can get.
I get it. I haven't quite won the ring, but
right there, right there with Kirby Smart and I'll tell

(01:02:15):
you something else. You know, it's not gonna be any
easier with this movement now of only schools moving into
the SEC and who knows what's gonna happen with the
Big twelve and things like that. It doesn't make things
a lot easier I mean, if you think Oklahoma had
a tough time getting into the Final Four and doing
some damage there, you think they're gonna do damage in
the SEC. I don't think so. What about Texas? I mean,

(01:02:35):
they couldn't do much in the Big twelve. Really, what
are they gonna do in the SEC? Yeah? I think
a lot of it is um are both of those
schools banking on a twelve team playoff? Even that is
hard enough. But I would have to imagine you're making
that move thinking, all right, we're gonna move to twelve teams,

(01:02:56):
because to get to a final four right in the
college football play aff the way it stands right now,
in the SEC, moving over there, good luck. That is
a gauntlet compared to the Big twelve. But I think
they made that move anticipating it's going to move to
twelve teams. Yeah, and I think the movement we discussed
this at length about a week ago. I mean, the

(01:03:17):
move is basically made by athletic directors for money. I mean,
I I don't think they really care much about the
coaches feelings on this deal. I mean, hey, coach, go
out there and win. We're gonna get some momenting in
our callfers because this is a big time deal going
to the SEC, TV money and things like that. So
money over rules the fact that you may not be successful. However,

(01:03:38):
you know there's a chance that when you play with
the best, the best one to come to you and
play for you. And I give you an example way
back when when the Big East was formed. There's a
lot of question marks like Seaton Hall in the Big
East and what happened when p J. Carlism Will coached them.
They ended up in the Final four in Seattle. Whoever
thought a Seton Hall would be a power? And you
know what, they've continued to do rather well in a

(01:04:00):
Big East, although there's been a big turnover and teams
in the Big East, but still an old Seaton Hall
has more than held their own well. I would just
bring it back to your mentioning teams that once we're
outstanding that have fallen on tough times. You can put
Texas on that list. You know, Texas has had some lean,
lean years. We're talking about what fifty two and forty

(01:04:22):
six in conference play over the last eleven years, that's
what you're looking at, and you think about one of
the greatest games ever played was when Vince Young led
Texas to a national championship against usc As the mid
two thousands, right oh five. Think about what Texas has
done since then, lean years, I'll give you Texas can

(01:04:46):
up your Texas with Nebraska. Well yeah, absolutely, yeah, that
would be, I mean, an even better example. But the
point is I don't buy this. Hey, we moved to
the SEC. Now we can recruit better, and it's like, no, man,
you're in a recruiting hotbed right now. You should be
able to do that the way it was in the

(01:05:08):
Big twelve. So I don't look at this. I think
this is just trying to talk yourself into it. When
you see dollar signs. If you start thinking we're gonna
make more money in the SEC, and then you start thinking, well,
you know what, with better competition, this might up recruiting,
I think you just start talking talking yourself into that
because it starts with the dollar signs. I don't think

(01:05:29):
that's the reality that one last thing we failed, one
last thing was gonna really hurt or be hinder recruiting.
Is this thing where athletes could like get money for
their image and they may be better serve going through
another school. And we saw some kid who basically left
school a to go to Ohio State because he thinks
you get a better opportunity for his image and selling

(01:05:49):
that in Ohio State. That's gonna be a major problem
in recruiting right now. Well, it just depends who you are.
If it's your Texas, this could absolutely help you. And
uh yeah, with Quinn yours, he's the high school kid
that you're talking about. He couldn't cash in on n
i L as a high school Texas football players, so

(01:06:10):
he said, based on principle over here, I'm out of here,
and he's gonna Ohio State early. And also depends on
the position you play too, Well, yeah, I mean it
depends on the caliber of athlete you are, how much
money you can command, all of that stuff. But that's unfortunate.
I hate to see a kid skip out on his

(01:06:31):
his senior season because of the n I L restrictions
in a particular state. Texas is one of the few
states where they're not allowing this. They're not allowing n
i L like kids to cash in on n I L.
So you might seem more like Queen yours say, well,
I can make all this money now and skip my

(01:06:51):
senior season. It might become more commonplace depending on the state.
There you go, Brian, No, Andy fermat together. We call
the Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio. He was cut?
But wait you here? Who cut him? That's next? But
first a man who cut me? Brian family with the latest, Andy, Dad,
I will make it up to you. I promise you won't.
I don't believe it. No, I will because most of

(01:07:13):
my family are a good portion of them live in Cincinnati,
so I have no excuses. Damage is done. Are you
sure about that? You know what for that? Brian, I'm
gonna play this drop your favorite fighting fire with fire
right there. That's it? Son? Oh my gosh. Well staying

(01:07:36):
with college football coaching great as you guys were talking about.
Bobby Bowden has passed away at ninety one from pancreatic cancer.
He carried Florida's Day to two national titles and ranked
second all time and wins with three d seventies seven.
Bowden had at least ten wins a season in a
fourteen year stretch from seven to two thousand, an incredible

(01:07:59):
run that he had. Espn F CVEs reporting Leonel Messi
will sign with Paris st Germain, the soccer sensation, said
goodbye to Barcelona in a news conference today. The Olympic
closing ceremonies are happening now in the United States, grips
the most medals and the most golds. The US one
ups China with thirty nine gold medals, and America goes

(01:08:21):
for one thirteen medals overall. Women's volleyball in American sports,
overcoming Brazil three sets to none in what is the
first gold for Team USA women's volleyball. American women's hoops
gets gold after wearing out Japan, and Brittany Grinder had

(01:08:43):
thirty points as she dazzled, going fourteen of eighteen from
the floor. In baseball, the Dodgers get a win against
the Angels five to three. The Padres out maneuver the
Diamondbacks six to two, The Giants body slammed the Brewers
nine to six and eleven innings, Brand and Belt busting
out to home runs, and the Reds closeline the Pirates

(01:09:05):
the Pirates eleven to three. Jesse Winker had six rb
I that's a result to a game that Andy Furman
must be very pleased about. And Harris English Nestle's a
top the leader board at the PGA Tours Saint Jude
Invitational heading into yes, today's final round. But you don't
want to get too comfortable in that top spot because

(01:09:26):
Bryce and the Shambo two shots behind, tied for a second.
He flashed a sixty three on Saturday as he looks
to put the pressure on the rest of the field.
And with that, I said, excuse me, I forgot to
turn off the mic before I did that. Let's get
it back to Andy Furman, who has never broken one

(01:09:46):
hundred in eighteen holes of golf. And then there's Brian
no who has thank you very much with seen it now. Hey,
by the way, maybe some players are ignorant. We'll get
to that in just about a minute. And we have
crossed the fifty yard line right now that we call
this sports. Yes, he's Brian ahm, Andy Fermant Bontom barrow
betting in about four or five minutes from now. And

(01:10:06):
we've got to talk about Kurt Cousins, the quarterback of
the Minnesota Vikings. He is not vaccinated. He was activated
off the Vikings COVID nineteen reserve lists after missing not one,
not two, but four practices and he was like in
close contact after rookie killen Mond tested positive for COVID
and now he was cut not by the Vikings, but
by Holland Hospital. They cut ties with Cousins as their spokesperson.

(01:10:30):
Holland Hospital is a statement by way of local radio
w HTC fourteen fifty am, upon severing ties with Cousins,
and they say that because look for this reason, Holland
Hospital discontinue because as a trusted health care leader along
the Lake Show, we're committed to providing accurate, timely health
information and guidance based on guidelines from the CDC and

(01:10:54):
medical experts. And statement read. And they're not letting Kirk
Cousins being their spokesperson any longer. He may come back,
but not right now, isn't it. Well, let's just cut
to the chase. Kirk Cousins is a COVID moron. That's
the bottom line here. Because here's the thing. When he
comes back and says he was a close contact, that's

(01:11:14):
why he missed four days of training camp. He came
back and his his theory was maybe might be the
size of the quarterbacks meeting room might not be big enough.
And it's like Kirk Jackass, like if you are vaccinated,
you are no longer a candidate to be a quote
quote unquote close contact, like he's had practice if he's vaccinated.

(01:11:37):
So this idea, maybe it's the quarterback room. It's like, no, man,
if you're vaccinated, that doesn't even apply to you. It's
that it's being unvaccinated. That's like having car problems and
you're not putting oil in your car and you're like,
it might be my shocks that are bad, and maybe

(01:11:58):
that's what's wrong with my car. It's like, oh, dude,
you're not putting oil in it. Are you kidding? Me?
Not being vaccinated with was the main reason that Kirk
Cousins miss training camp. It's not the side of the
quarterback room. That's ridiculous. Pretty good answer though, really pretty creative, stupid,
not creative at all, just dumb. And he asked if

(01:12:19):
he was going to get vaccinated or not. He said
that a vaccination decision quote is a very private health
matter for me. I'm going to keep it the such.
Okay private for you, but you're not private now. You're
a public year with this team. It's a team situation,
and you're hurting not only yourself, not only your family,
But you're hurting your teammates. And believe me, if I'm
a teammate of kirk Cousins not being vaccinated and maybe

(01:12:41):
not playing, you're hurting the Minnesota Vikings. That's basically what
he's doing. Why, I don't know. I'd like to just
someone sit down with him and say, Okay, you don't
want to get vaccine. It's a private matter. Why can
you give me a reason why you don't want to
get vaccinated beside you being a quote Brian No saying
you're a moron? Yes, well, I mean listen to larger conversation.

(01:13:03):
And I know we try to steer clear of this
because people are dug in on it. But kirk cousins
decision hurts the Vikings. He's hurting the team, and all
these unvaccinated people, you're also hurting the team. This isn't
some personal decision. You're keeping a pandemic going, right, Like
That's the larger issue here is if you look at

(01:13:25):
kirk Cousins say, man, he's hurting the Vikings. You're right,
he is, But these unvaccinated people, you're keeping the pandemic alive. Congratulations,
hats off to you, well done, over like you're keeping
it alive. So I better not hear any unvaccinated people
saying anything looking sideways at Kirk like, hey, he's hurting

(01:13:45):
the team, so are you sorry? It is not a
personal decision, it's a public decision. All these morons acting like, oh, no,
I can just do it. It affects me. No, it
doesn't affects everybody. The Governor of the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky,
Andy Bashim, in a statement the other day, said that
of the people who are hospitalized in the Commonwealth of Kentucky,

(01:14:08):
who are in hospitals right now suffering from COVID or
not vaccinated, Okay, so shouldn't I tell you something? And
I'm hearing people tell me the scientific thing and it's
not not uh FDA approved, and it came up too fast.
I'm a friend, and result forget about it. Are not vaccinated.

(01:14:28):
Doesn't that tell you something? It's just like you said,
my car is not working. Why there's no more oil
in the tank? All right, well there's no gas. Don't
be a schmuck. Yeah. Well, and then if we bring
it back to football over here, I'm curious where it
goes because if this same situation that just played out
with the Vikings doesn't play out in early August where

(01:14:51):
you're missing training camp. It plays out in the heart
of the Season's now, I want to hear what the
teammates have to say about that, because it we're not
in that territory yet Andy, where it's you know, it's
go time and this is an important game and all
of a sudden, Kirk Cousins he's in isolation for ten days.
Right he's missing maybe a couple of games in the

(01:15:12):
heart of the season. That's where we're headed. And I
want to hear the comments at that point because right now,
it's easy to say, well, listen, it's his choice. Who
am I the same when it's go time. We're talking
late in the season and it's just some guy who's
unvaccinated and that's the reason he can't go. I want

(01:15:33):
to hear what his teammates have to say then, because
that's the real test. Didn't Ron Rivera addressed that just
the other day with a w f T with the
Washington football team. He said, you know, if he happens, now,
I get it. But the point is that what if
it's during the regular season and the guys are out
two to three games, then what happens. Rivera addressed that
to his guys. We'll see if they take heed to
that and do something about it. But it's gonna be

(01:15:54):
very interesting because last year they got through the season.
It was a bumpy road that got through. They played
on Wednesdays sometimes I know, off days, whatever it may be,
but they didn't skip a beat. This year they got
some heavy duty ruling with the testing and the fifteen thousand,
all the fines. We'll see what happens right now, and
there are people on both sides digging in. The NFL
is digging in, but some of these players, like Kirk Cousins,

(01:16:15):
he's digging into. Then it won't get vaccinated. Yeah, I'm
just telling you, Andy, and you know it. We'll see that.
If we're talking in the season, playoff berth on the line,
we're talking the playoffs, and it still could be around
when the playoffs are here. Uh, that's what I want
to hear. The the coaches, their comments. Mike zimmer is

(01:16:37):
blood like he's wound up right now, and understandably so
is the Vikings head coach. Same thing with Ron Rivera.
What happens if they are missing key guys, when it matters.
We got a lot on the line. That's what I
want to hear. The comments all of a sudden, these
comments of well, it's his decision. It's a little bit
of a different ring to it. At that stage, You're

(01:16:57):
exactly right. He's Brian No, I'm Andy Rman. This is
Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Spots. Ready now it's a
game of chance, but you do need some luck. We
call the bottom barrel betting and it's freaking next. Dalla dolla,
dalla bata barre betting coming right up. It's about ten
minutes before the top of the hour. He is Brian
No on Andy Firm and we are Fox Sports Sunday

(01:17:20):
on Fox Sports Rady. But right now it's time to
play Batta barow, Betty, let's play bottom. Thought was like,
wanted to sleep people, get my money. I'll put your
break to sleep, Betty. Yeah, the man is back back back,
NICKI b How are you at the controls? How you doing?
I'm doing good fellas. I missed you guys last week

(01:17:42):
watching some Formula one racing or what I wish. I
was actually in New York visiting my family. Really, Okay,
we're part of New York Syracuse Central New York. Nice
you big Beeheim guy. I was not much any money anymore.
What did he do to you? He didn't win a right,
NICKI b hasn't won enough and he hasn't gotten the

(01:18:02):
big name since Carmelo. So you're a front runner, by
the way, real fast, nicky be. I was on my
way to see a Syracuse basketball game years ago and
my car was shaking profusely, and I'm like, what is
going on. I told my friend like, I don't think
I'm gonna make it. They told me I had snow

(01:18:23):
in my wheels. Yeah. I didn't know that was the thing,
but I was part of the girlfriend I had at
the time. I was parked on the side of the
road and they like they like, they did all the
street cleaning and my car was buried underneath snow. I
didn't know that was the thing. It makes your car
shake like crazy. Was wild. And that was July and Syracuse. Right,

(01:18:45):
that's right, guys. Let's start off with the NFL with
some preseason action, of course, between the Texans and the Packers.
Davis Mills is the rookie quarterback that Houston took with
the sixties seven pick in the NFL draft. He's currently
third on the depth chart over under three and a
half offensive series played for the rookie Wait before we

(01:19:06):
get stunted, I want to know who won last week?
Oh and the actually one last week. Baby, that's why
you don't want to mention it. I'm glad you buried that,
Nicky be good job by you. That was nice, you know,
I got I gotta keep Andy's hopes down a little.
I think it maybe the first time in no, yes, no,
you've won a couple of times, a couple of times

(01:19:27):
go ahead started off winner. All right, so it's Mills.
What was the deal with over three and a half
offensive series played by him against the Packers this week?
Oh my goodness, I would say over Yeah, like he's
third string, but DeShawn is ahead of him, right, so
she's basically second string. Yeah. I'm gonna take the over

(01:19:48):
as well on this one. All right, We're gonna stay
in the NFL and with one rookie class, Giants are
taking on the Jets, and both teams drafted new weapons
for their offense. Giants, of course taking can Darius Tony
eighth overall Florida and the Jets, taking Elijah More out
of ole miss four overall, gentlemen, who will have more
total yards when these two teams face each other this week?

(01:20:10):
Tony or more? Give me more, Give me more? Hearing
great things about him in camp. More will not be less?
How's that less is more? I got more? Yeah, thank you,
thank you. So we now go from the gridiron to
the diamond, where the Athletics called up outfielder Seth Brown
after outfield of Ramon Loreano was suspended for eight games

(01:20:32):
for a PD violation. Last night, Brown served as a
pinch runner for the Oakland's twelve three win over the Rangers. Guys,
they play again tonight. Over under one a half at
bats for Brown? Oh wow, uh, I say over not

(01:20:53):
getting alright, guys, We're gonna go away from sports for
this one. So last week I was saying I was
in New York visiting my family. I'm going to Universal
Studios in Hollywood for the first time ever with a
family member who's in town visiting me. This week, over
under one hundred dollars spent by me on food and
drinks during our time at Universal. Wait at Dennemy, are

(01:21:16):
you treating I mean it was just on you. You
over easy, over a D yeah, I go over two
hundred Wow, that's yeah, yeah, of course to a hundred
of park fast break. What's the last one, Nikki. Let's say,
let's go to baseball Clubs versus White Sox, Zach Davies
over under five and a half strikeouts under under, Yeah,

(01:21:40):
I go under as well. There we go. Thank you,
Thank you, Nicky greit having you back. There we go. Hey,

(01:22:45):
Brian No, Hello, b what's up? I killed James Harden?
You know I haven't. I haven't eaten breakfast yet this morning, Andy,
it just dawned on me. Apple cinnamon, apple cinnamon, apple cinnamon,
cinamap cinnamon, cinnamon, app cinnamon, sting. I didn't know you
had a stuttering problem. Chris is I think he did

(01:23:05):
an eight ball before the show began. He has been
a drop machine today. Good Lord? That coffee down? Did
he before the morning started? Over the did? I don't
know what he's doing, but my last batch of my
own homemade cold brew cast I tell you, I don't
know what you're doing, but I want some of it. Well.

(01:23:26):
It is a wonderful blend of Sumatran, Costa, Rican and Ethiopian,
and you are welcome to any of it. Will it
will make you bounce off the walls. I don't think
it's good for Andy. It like it'll wake up, Andy,
But and he's already alive wire. He's definitely he's like
he'll blow up, He'll blow out his microphone screaming, wake
up America. He has got to proceed with caution. Over here,

(01:23:49):
by the way, while we're talking breakfast, real fast, Andy,
what's one of your favorite cereals? I love hot the
instant hot cereal, the Quaker Oats instant hot cereal. You
open up the little bag and he puts some hot
water in there, and I just love that. I really did.
He is traditional cold cereals. What's one of your cold cheerios?

(01:24:10):
Frosted flakes, wheat ease, you know, shredded wheat. I'll do
like shredded wheed a lot too. Yeah you are. You're
alarmingly getting better at this because normally you bristle and
like you get mixed in half thing. I had hundreds
of cereals. I get foomished. I get foomished. But I
will tell you this much. I have to be honest
with you and open because I would never hide anything

(01:24:31):
from any of you. Guys were a team, and I
love you all. I did have a meeting with my
psychiatrists this week. I got on the couch. I told
them my problems and we talked about my music situation.
We got that out of the way. Not yeah, we
have a whole list of things that the fact that
I get flustered when I'm put on the spot out
to what coloraide like and things like that. So I'm
opening up a little bit. It was an hour session

(01:24:53):
and I was well worth it. And certainly it's on
my I Heeart insurance. You could do that, you know,
when you work for iHeart, they take carry I thing. Yeah, no, kidding, Well,
good man, I'm glad you're powering through these issues. It's good.
It's it's a work in progress. Let's put it that way.
So what is your favorite color right now? I'd have
to say blue, just like the beautiful sky, Yeah, because

(01:25:15):
it's the beautiful blue skies are coming up right now.
But it could change. Yeah, it could be gray when
the clouds overhead. But right now, blue, nice blue, poudible,
Columbia blue. What's your favorite blue? What's your favorite shade
of blue? Columbia blue? Columbia? Yes, yes, all right, as
you are. No, so we move on. How you feel

(01:25:38):
about periwinkle, torry winkle? I really have not Sapphire. No, no,
not really know what your midnight listen? What do you?
What is it? Drill? You could have sent me a
bill on this to no enough what your favorite? Stop it?
Stop it now, stop it? Come on, we move on.

(01:25:59):
I want talk about the Olympus a little bit. I mean,
I'm really excited because I didn't think the US of
A would fear as well as they have this year.
I don't know why I felt that way, but and
you brought up a great point and no one has
mentioned this. You know, every time I see the Olympics
on TV, is you know Tokyo? Hey? Did anybody tell you?
It's one? And you were the first to bring that up,

(01:26:20):
and no one has ever mentioned They just take it
for grade that that's the logo, And you said it.
I'll never forget this last week. You said it. When
they write the history books way back down the road,
they're gonna say, wait a minute, didn't those Olympics occurrent one? Yeah,
it would have been a lot more memorable if they
changed all the signage to one. I think that would
have been a better way to go. But as often

(01:26:41):
as the case, andy follow the money, they didn't want
to change all that because they had put all this
money into you name it, memorabiliya. Right. We got backpacks
with Tokyo, We've got whatever, water bottles with Tokyo. They
had this huge push. But the thing is Andy wasn't

(01:27:02):
open to the public. They had to scrap most of
that stuff. Anyway, it would have been better just to
change the signage. I think it would have been a
lot more memorable that way. I agree. I mean, people
just take it for granted. I didn't see one article
anywhere here one commentator say, you know, well, the NBC
is never gonna do that, because I'm sure they were told,
you know, it's don't mention it. I'm sure that was

(01:27:22):
the deal with them, but you know, who knows. We
move on in his twenty and this closing ceremonies of tonight,
and that's it. Closed the book on the Olympics. And
God bless the US of a basketball team because I
gotta tell you, I was a little nervous. You told
me not to be, and you were right, and they
won two of those. It was a pretty good game.
It was a bit of a nail by their game,
it really was. And they were terrible shooting those threes.

(01:27:43):
They really were. Yeah, but hey, listen, I I know
we love to nitpick Team USA because they're the most talented,
they're expected to win. But look, they got the job done,
is the bottom line, and especially when they were so doubted.
I I love this to how athletes use extra motivation.
Here's a little bit of k D. Right. K D

(01:28:07):
shot himself. He posted this video on Instagram before his
press conference. This is after Team USA one gold. And
listen to what he said about some of the naysayers.
This is important because we can't forget this just because
they won gold. There are a lot of people doubting
Team USA. Here you go the man talking about they

(01:28:31):
catching up to us, Like, are you serious? This skill
is unmatched. Shout out to everybody that won his gold,
everybody that chipped in and helped out. We wanted to press,
but I had took my real quick. Yeah. I love
hearing this, but I gotta be quite honest. I mean,
without k D, they win it. Then I went in gold.

(01:28:53):
It might be the case, but he was there and
they wanted and he's right to point that out. Power
ranking Team USA fourth really like that's you could apply
this to the NFL Andy, you could apply it to
other sports as well. Sometimes the expectations become so high

(01:29:13):
that it impacts the evaluation to a point where it
doesn't make sense anymore. We're expecting Team USA to basically
be perfect because they're the most talented, and all of
a sudden we get a glimpse of them not being
perfect and they slide the fourth in the power rankings.
It's freaking insane, But that's some of the stuff that
was happening. I'm real proud of them because they go

(01:29:34):
over there no compensation. They just represented our country and
they did it. They did rather well. But the one
person I'm really happy for there's a lot of pressure
on him, was coach Papovich, you know, and Greg Pavovitch
really came on. I mean he got some heat. I
mean he was crazy. He was getting eat hit. It
looks to France and they're gonna play him again for
the finals for the gold. So Greg Pavovitch, you know,
capping off a tremendous career, you know, the five titles

(01:29:56):
in San anton and here's a guy who started out
of career coaching D three college basketball. So my hat's
off to coach pop By the way. Can I sound
ancient here for a second. Yeah, I'm gonna sound like
get off my line guy for a second here. But
shout out to Pop getting the gold. He's an outstanding coach.

(01:30:17):
But the gold medal game? Did you see his shirt untucked?
He'll get the complete slob What are you doing, dude,
it's tuck in your freaking shirt? Look like well, but
you know what, I know the stuff. But I think
the other coaches who are sir had his shirt untucked
a lot of the assistance. I think it was the
style of the coach. I think it was untucked. That

(01:30:38):
was one of those dress untucked shirts. It's a soft
collared shirt like Pop shirt. Went told us his kneecaps terrible.
He didn't want to show his cut. That's why he
let hang out. You know that. That's what heavy people do.
We move on. Hey, I want to want to share.
I want to share this tweet suck at Coop, who's
been a regular here. He doesn't call it, but he's

(01:31:01):
a regular tweet for us, and he says, how come
Kirk Cousins is catching hell yet? Lamar Lamar Jackson's tested
positive twice. I missed time and is unvaccinated. Come on, well,
I think the reason why Kirk Cousins and is catching
hell is because there was a hometown hospital, the Holland
Hospital in Michigan basically said they, look, we don't want

(01:31:23):
you as a spokesperson because you're not being vaccinated. That's
why the story came of light, not so much because
he wasn't vaccinated, because he lost a gig with the
hospital being this spokesperson. That's all I can think about
on that deal. Well, listen, first things first, shout out
to Justin. He made a good point. Yes, he absolutely did.

(01:31:43):
Where Lamar Jackson should be catching hell as well. He
missed time during the regular season last year and then
he contracted COVID again, So yeah, we should be looking
at Lamar like, dude, what are you doing. If we're
looking at Kirk that way, we should be looking at
Lamar the same way. So it's a good point. Now.
The other part, though, is why isn't Lamar catching hell? Well?

(01:32:05):
The one thing that is different between the two is
that Kirk Cousins said something that was obnoxiously idiotic, and
to my knowledge, Lamar Jackson hasn't. So Kirk Cousins was
a close contact. You mentioned Andy when we talked about
this last hour. Kellen Mond contracted COVID and so Kirk
Cousins comes back as an unvaccinated player and says, hey,

(01:32:27):
maybe it has something to do with the size of
our quarterback room, right, it might not be big enough.
It's like, dude, if you're vaccinated, you can't miss time
for being a close contact. It's because you're unvaccinated, it's
not because of the size of the quarterback room. So
the difference between Kirk and Lamar is Kirk said something

(01:32:48):
so extremely idiotic, and to my knowledge, Lamar hasn't, and
that fuels the negativity or the criticism toward Kirk. Yeah,
and also the fact that Kirk the gig and more
has not as yet and I don't see what happened.
Little more, obviously he's looking to get paid if he
misses games due to COVID and not getting vacs could
have affect the negotiations. So we'll see what happens right now.

(01:33:10):
Maybe that's why that being held up. We don't know.
And in the walls of the Baltimore franchise, maybe they're saying, look,
we're not gonna do any more negotiations. Unless you get vaccinated.
I don't know if they could even do that. I'm
sure they can't. I don't think they will. I don't.
I give Nikki be Uh some kudos over here because
he threw this in our our chat. He said, uh,

(01:33:32):
you know, could this be part of the negotiating process.
So it's a good question. I don't think so at all,
because think of it this way, Andy, If the thought
is missing games, Lamar certainly could miss games if he
remains unvaccinated, contracts COVID. Again, it's possible, but I don't
see how that would throw you off negotiating wise. Let

(01:33:52):
me throw this out at you. Is it possible that
Lamar Jackson, who takes so many chances running the ball
and taking big hits, is it possible that he gets
banged up and misses a game or two? Certainly, do
you think that's going to prevent the Ravens from giving
him a big extension? No? So, if the injuries aren't
going to stop it, why would being unvaccinated stop him

(01:34:13):
from breaking him? And I think the vaccination is a
very touchy subject. You know, it's certainly it's gonna be
handled more so maybe by by the league. I mean
the league has kind of made it almost situation where
you're your better get accent goes to the testing practices
and not being able to have meals with the team
and travel with the team and things like that, the
separation factor. So the league is doing everything they can

(01:34:34):
except saying you better get it, but they're doing everything
to make it difficult if you're not vaccinated. And that's
a good thing, because I think it's a smart move
to be vaccinated, not only for yourself. We thought about
this for yourself, for your teammates, for your family, for
whatever may be. And honestly, you know you want to
see for fans for a selfish reason. I don't want
to see star players on the sideline. Number one B,

(01:34:56):
I don't want to see them ill. And number three,
I want to see the best players play. I don't
want to she games being mixed. Well, I'll give Nicky
Be credit again. See this is my downfall. I give credit.
I should just pass this off as if it was
my idea, and Nicky Be to the curb. You know
I can't do that. He brought up a really good point,
where will you see the NFL? A good question? Will

(01:35:17):
you see the NFL incentivize, incentivize players. Now, think about this, Andy.
They've threatened players. They're like, hey, if you're unvaccinated and
there's an outbreak, you might have to forfeit games, and
you might have to pick up the tab and this
and that and But they've tried to I will say
they've incentivized them where hey, if you are vaccinated, you

(01:35:38):
don't have to wear a mask, you're not a close contact.
They've done some of those things. But did they take
it a step further where it's hey, we'll break you
off some cash rewards here. I don't think so, because
both of the league is vaccinated by now, so I
doubt it. But maybe there's something more they could do

(01:35:59):
instead of threatened players, like incentivize them more to let
let me put some water on that fire, if I may.
I mean, I know in the state of Ohio, the
great governor there, Mike DeWine, had like this vaccination lottery,
you got a million dollars. And in Kentucky they did
it where you get a million dollars and if it's
a kid in the ages of well the eighteenth or whatever,

(01:36:19):
he gets college tuition paint for. But in the NFL.
I don't think these guys, they make so much money.
I don't think a bonus to get a shot is
going to make a difference. I just think these guys
make so much money. What are you gonna give a
guy five dollars, a hundred bucks, five thousand bucks. I mean, really, well,
it's the last at you really, I mean, these guys,
it doesn't mean anything. So h it's a good point

(01:36:42):
by you. It's a very good point by you, because
you have to also think how things are gonna land. Right,
So in the NFL, you have to ask yourself what
it would take to really incentivize a player who's making
millions and millions more more times than not even the
league minimum. You'd have to pay a whole lot to
incentivize them. How the how is that going to land publicly?

(01:37:04):
You know? Not good. It's not gonna end in a
good place for the NFL. So, yeah, you make a
lot of sense. I probably won't happen for those reasons.
I mean, I'd like to see them do something to
get them vaccinated, But I don't think a bonus, uh
to incentivize them is gonna get it done. It's gonna
be a bigger deal and I don't know what it is.
I don't know what you could do, but you're thinking
kept on. We'll see he's probably no. I think what

(01:37:25):
the season is gonna do that Andy super fast. I
think the season is going to I mean, when you
see it, I think teammates pressure doing That's what I mean.
Like they are going to be a couple of unvaccinated
players contract COVID and they're gonna miss games. And I
just think that is going to be the true incentive
when it becomes real. I think a lot of the
unvaccinated are gonna say, you know what, I don't love it,

(01:37:46):
but okay, there have been players already that have done that. Right,
the locker room will get it done. Inside the locker room,
that's will happen. Brian no get him on Twitter at
the No Show n E Show at Andy Firm and
FSR OR eight seven and seven ninety nine, Fox eight
seven seven sixty three sixty nine. Brian No, one knows
picks at the end of this album Right now, one

(01:38:08):
NFL tight end explodes. That's next. He may need an
attitude adjustment. We'll explain that in just about a minute.
Twenty three minutes past the hour. This is Fox Sports
Sunday on Fox Butts Radio. He's probably no. I'm Andy
Ferman And they put a little closure on this Kurt
Cousins v Lamar Jackson situation. Sucker Coops coming back again

(01:38:31):
on Twitter. It says the size of the quarterback room
does take the Gold Medal of excuses, And it certainly does.
And you mentioned it be I mean that Cousins basically
said that the reason why he was in close contact
with his teammate because the quarterback room in Minnesota with
the Vikings was too small. It is the gold Medal
of excuses. Suck a Coop again, another cold star for him.

(01:38:54):
It's just it's such an idiotic comment, man, Like I know,
if you are vaccinated, which he is not, then you
can't be a close contact I don't know case. I
was gonna say casualty. That's a little bit too much.
Can't be a close contact case he would have been
at practice. So it's because you're unvaccinated, Kirk. News flash, Okay,

(01:39:18):
it's not the size of the quarterback room all time.
Like put that in the rafters, first ballot, Hall of Fame.
Idiotic comment, slash and your good friend Bake on Twitter says, look,
we talked about the Olympics. They should change the logo
making because it is they're playing the Olympics. A year later,
is still the Olympics? He says, I don't see the

(01:39:40):
big deal. And then he says, also having a favorite
anything isn't necessary. So when you Chris with drilling me,
I'm picking on me and pushing me against the wall.
He says, Andy enjoyed the multiple colors of blue equally,
so you don't need a favorite anything. Well, I sort
of disagree, because sometimes there is a favorite food in
one's life, do right, So do you have to have

(01:40:02):
a favorite something? I would think? Yeah, Bake is being
way too hippie on us this morning. You kidding me
like you have favorites, You have priorities in life, right, Yeah?
You have certain Yeah, nothing wrong with a little pecking
or the favorite breakfast, don't you. Well you know me,
I'm very fond of apple cinnamon, one of my It's

(01:40:24):
one of my favorites. I don't know what the favorite is,
but I've never asked you what you're absolute favorite is.
I'm just asking for one of your favorites, right, exactly, right,
but by the way, I don't know about this. I
heart straightening you out with you on the couch, and
all of a sudden you're able to answer easy questions.
This isn't good for our ratings. It's better when you

(01:40:46):
you know, you're like, yeah, you're flustered. You're like one
of those dogs trying to chase his tail. Like it's
it's funny that way. Now, second, my second visits in
several weeks, I may just cancel it. Yeah, let's do that.
Let's get to you being uh, you know, hot mess
is better for raiding. I am a hot mess. Speaking
of being a hot mess, I think the tight end
of the Chicago Bears. Jimmy Graham, he's a bit of

(01:41:09):
a hot mess right now. He exploded about the NFL
p A am out there freaking only thing that I
exploded on. Oh my goodness. He explained the frequency of
COVID nineteen testing for vaccinated play Why why would you
do that, Jimmy, I don't understand it. He's also upset
about hitting a seventeenth game with you know, you little
late for the party on that one. Jimmy, you really are,

(01:41:29):
But why would you be upset about the frequency of
COVID nineteen testing for vaccinated place. I get it, you've vaccinated.
Maybe you felt that once you get the vaccine, you're
good to go, you clean, But it's just a safety precaution.
And I know it's a pain, it really is, especially
you know when they shove that thing up your notice.
But let's see what Jimmy g really had to say.
And this is Jimmy Graham. I got a lot of

(01:41:50):
guys in the NBA that I know. I've got a
lot of a lot of guys in MLB, and they
don't have these situations with their with their PA. You know,
they're pretty strong, and at times, I feel like there's
a lot of miscommunication. Uh, there's a lot of things
being done and you know, we have no san you know,
I mean, it's like crazy, you know, it's it's it's
frustration is on many levels of many things that they've
done over the past. I mean, you know, I've been
going on twelve years now and it's been kind of

(01:42:11):
frustrating at times with them. And you know, I'm not
gonna hold back. You know, I'm a I'm a grown man,
and and you know, I wish somebody would talk to
me and speak to me like a grown man, and
and you know, let me have a little bit of
saying some things. Seventeen games to my drum, vaccinating, But
what I saw was the first day we get back,
and now there's other rules. If you miss it testing,
it's it's a hundred and fifty thou dollars, Like how

(01:42:33):
was this a hundred times? What last year was? One time?
I've kind of exploded, like he just slipped it in,
like I'm unvaccinated? Did I hear that? Right? I don't.
I don't want to hear your hot takes about getting
tested if you're unvaccinated, right, And the Bears have four
players on the reserve COVID nineteen list four players. Basically,

(01:42:56):
you have COVID right now. So really and truly, I mean,
if I'm a player in the Chicago Bears and saying, look, guys,
you know, I don't care what you do with your personally.
I don't care if you wear an ear ring, I
don't care if you shave your head. But if I'm
gonna go out to war with you, and you know
my teammate, damn get the shot. Really because we're here
for the same cause we want to go to the playoffs.
We want to make some money, we want to win,

(01:43:17):
and without you on the field right now, because you
may be positive, we're not gonna win. And Graham is
vaccinated though he according to our guy, you know, he
beat Nikki Betells says that he's vaccinated. Okay, maybe I
didn't I didn't hear him correctly. But it's just a
safety precaution. It's one of those I get that. Listen
if a player is vaccinated and you say, man, why
why do we still have to get tested so many

(01:43:39):
times it's you're just trying to get through a season. Man,
I know it's it stinks. I I'd rather not get tested,
especially if I'm vaxed. But it's just an extra precaution
to try to make sure that it doesn't spread, and uh,
you get the season end. So it's just it's one
of those necessary evils right now, unfortunately. And Jimmy was

(01:43:59):
could hearing it to his friends in the NBA. Well,
they had a bubble in the NBA. There was no
bubble in the NFL. There's a different situation. It's a
different animal together. Plus you talk about eleven guys on
eleven guys on eleven guys sweating and grueling and just
getting on top of one another in basketball doing over here? Man?
What are you describing over here? Is that the NFL

(01:44:20):
or I don't know. Well, they're on top of one another, tackling,
the sweating, the spitting on one another. But where whereas
basketball is five on five? Yeah, they're bumping and grinding
over there, but it's only five on five? Right? Why
does this sound erotic from you describing football and basketball?
What's going on here? And I want to make it.
I want to paint the picture. I want to paint

(01:44:41):
the picture. Man. It's just a necessary evil. Now. You
can compare the nb p A to the NFL p
A and you can say advantage basketball over football in
many areas here. But listen, testing is it's just a
necessary evil at this stage when you still have unvaccinated
players in the NFL, then unfortunately, some of the vaxed

(01:45:05):
players gonna have to pay a price for that. They're
gonna have to get tested because you don't want an
outbreak and miss games at all. That's the way the
NFL is gonna attack this thing right now. And the
point it makes sense though, right right? But but it's
a shame because the vac players basically have to pay
the price really for the unvaxed player. Think about that.
You know, they're being punished in a sense because they're

(01:45:28):
the players who are not vaccinated because they want to
make sure that they're okay. But that's just the name
of the game, you know, And really and truly, if
you're a vaxed player, you probably want to get in
the face of an unvaxed player in your locker room
and say, look, guys, I don't appreciate getting these tests
all the time, and really it's your fault, so get
vaccinated that we could all do what we gotta do,

(01:45:48):
play a game of football, not worry about this garbage, right, No, agreed.
If we had of the NFL vaxed, they're not getting
tested as often there would need to if you had
percent VACT, they're not getting tested as often as they are. So, yeah,
you're completely correct. That's the way it is. You're paying
the price for the sins of the morons, basically, is

(01:46:10):
what it turns out to me. I love to hear
you say the sins of the morons. Yes, Hedd, we
go all right, He's Brian No, I'm Andy Firman. This
is Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio. And you
really can't call this a controversy. It's just a problem.
And we'll tell you all about the next But first,
Brian family has to latest. When I heard moron, I
thought of somebody else, But I guess see, I was

(01:46:32):
gonna say that and throw it on you. But I'm
too much of a gentleman because I thought i'd pack
you up enough today. So but you you still want
to play. You want to play cat and mouse, That's
fine with me. By the way, are you gonna when
you go to uh, you know what do you call it?
You just go to therapy? Is that fair to say?
I go nowhere? Well, I don't want people to think

(01:46:52):
I'm not just something wrong with me. I why are
you making this a thing? Now? That's the next thing
that because I have of God, I just would just
wanted to let you know. Okay, but are you going
to ask about Brian Finley dissing you? Is this something
that you're gonna have to talk about getting the complex? Yes,
and getting a bit of a complex. Yes, nothing wrong
with that at all. Nothing. It feels good to talk

(01:47:17):
things out Andy, I know, but it feels better to
hurt you. It feels good when you're at me. Say it, Keepe.
I'm not going any further than that, according to NFL Network.
According to NFL Network, playing the Colts shelling out the

(01:47:39):
big bucks for linebacker Darius Leonard a five year million
dollar contract. Guys, this is the biggest deal for an
inside picker. Why is that funny? Good? Mord not through
an update? All right? Are you okay? I'm okay. The
contract stipulates twenty million dollars per year and each of
us first three seasons, and it has about fifty million

(01:48:02):
dollars guaranteed. Some good news for the Colts. Finally, yeah,
Carson Wentz and Quentin Nelson. Finally something positive, something positive.
That's some big money. According to ESPN, Lino Messi will
sign with Paris St. Germain on a two year deal
with an option attached for a third year. The soccer
sensation said goodbye to Barcelona in a news conference today.

(01:48:24):
College football coaching icon Bobby Bowden, who led Florida State
to two national titles, has passed away at years old
from paincreatic cancer. The Olympic closing ceremonies are happening right now.
The United States is going to come out of these
Global Games with the most medals overall and the most
gold medals thirty nine golds for Team US. Say, that

(01:48:45):
is one more than China. America also with one hundred
thirteen medals overall, that is twenty five more than China,
which is at eight eight. American women's hoops got the
gold after taking down Japan nine to seventy five. Britian
Grinder had thirty points on fourteen of eighteen shooting. And

(01:49:06):
a couple of notes from baseball. The Dodgers with a
win against the Angels five to three, the Padres out
fox the Diamondbacks six to two, and the Giants nail
the Brewers nine six in eleven innings. And Harris English
nestles the top of the year board of the PGA's St.
Jude Invitational, and he has a two shot lead, two

(01:49:26):
shots behind Bryson de Shambo as he flashed a sixty
three on Saturday. De Shambo likes to wear the fedora.
Andy Furman likes to wear the fedora as I said
it back to Andy and as good pal Brian, no,
thank you so much of a great day. And that
was there really a winner here that's coming right up.

(01:49:46):
We have Brian Owen Knows picks in about seven minutes
from now, and I was very intent. I listened to
what Brian Friendly had to say about that contract. Five
years with the Colts, ninety nine million dollars for the linebacker.
Was that great, pretty good deal. You know why I'm
happy about out that be because finally the money is
being spread around, I hope equally, because it's all quarterback money.
That's all you hear. And what we've seen is that

(01:50:09):
you know, when you put all that money in the quarterback,
you're basically gonna hurt some aspects of your team. And
I think that started way back when when Joe Flacco
backed up to Brings Truck had that big contract, and
then Baltimos went to put for a couple of years.
He had all the money that you just can't do that.
It's listen, it's the cost of doing business. When you
have a legitimate franchise quarterback. If the Packers are paying

(01:50:34):
Aaron Rodgers or Mahomes is getting a ton of cash
like that's just that's the cost of doing business. The
problem you run into is when you're paying a mediocre
quarterback or just a good quarterback elite money. That's where
Dak Prescott is a good quarterback. He's not elite, and
that's where you run into problems when you're paying him
more than what he's actually produced. Well, it's gonna happen

(01:50:56):
with Baker Mayfield. And exactly right, if you back up
the breaks truck for Baker Mayfield, you are screwing yourself.
That's basically what it's gonna turn out to because you
gotta skimp elsewhere and he's not good enough to compensate
for some of the roster deficiencies. That's the way it
works out. It's sad, but that's the way it works out.
It's and it's gonna happen. You'll see it's gonna happen.

(01:51:17):
Speaking of quarterbacks, one of the weirdest situations is the
role and the quarterback role with the Denver Broncos. You know,
people are calling it a controversy. It's not a controversy
because if the Packers agreed to trade quarterback Aaron Rodgers,
maybe the Broncos would be playoff contenders. But now it
leaves Denver with I Drew Lock Drew Lock basically finished
last in the NFL and completion percentage among eligible quarterbacks

(01:51:40):
a year ago Drew Lock against Teddy Bridgewater, whom they
traded focused. They knew Drew Lock was not that guy.
This team was twenty three in total offense a year ago,
and they're calling it a controversy. I I think the
winner is still the loser in Denver. How's that well?
I mean, listen, man, we've been through it with den

(01:52:00):
for I think that they're Pansy's basically for saying, oh,
it's not take another risk at quarterback, even though Justin
Fields and Mac Jones are still on the board. Both
those quarterbacks were there at number nine overall. They didn't
have to trade up to get either of those guys.
And they're like, let's take the safe, cautious route and

(01:52:21):
go with Patrick Surtan, who might be a very good corner.
But you gotta have a QEB in this league, man,
especially in that division with Mahomes and Justin Herbert. No,
by the way, Derek Carr is no slouch, and you've
got Teddy two gloves versus Drew Lock. Shame on you.
You deserve this. That's basically where I'm at with Denver.
You know what amazes me. You know, I lived in

(01:52:41):
Littleton Connor, Colorado for a while, and like I remember,
I worked at the at Centennial Park Racetrack, which is
no longer May it rest in peace, and we didn't
race on Sundays. Why they goes to Denver Broncos was
so popular, nobody would come. They're either at the ball
game at Mile High or they're watching it on TV
now And that team would won like seventies seven percent

(01:53:03):
of their home games at the point at that point
in time. Now they've got Vic Fangio, who's their coach,
entering the season with the regular twelve and twenty. Denver
is not what it used to be. And I'm not
blaming Fangio all along. I think John Elway has a
lot to do with the demise of the Denver Broncos.
I really do think about this too. Andy is they've
got a real defense, and they've got a coach who

(01:53:24):
knows how to scheme defenses. Imagine if they take a
swing on Justin Fields and he's the real deal, you
got a lot to work with offensively over their Courtland
Sutton comes back right, Maybe Jerry Judy doesn't have the
drop seas anymore this year. He's still a very talented
wide receiver. It wasn't flawless in year one, but he's

(01:53:46):
still very talented. You got no a fan at tight end.
You got a lot to work with over there. Imagine
if you had a quarterback. What if they drafted Justin
Fields and he had a similar rookie season as Justin Herbert.
All of a sudden, with that defense, you are in business,
and instead you bring in Teddy Bridgewater. Really, that's the

(01:54:09):
way you're going about this. It's just a joke what
they're doing over there in Denver. I I don't get it.
I don't understand why there's no more heat on John Elway.
I mean, I know it's hard. That's the main guy anymore.
You got George Payton over there. He's but he he
was the beginning of the end. He created it. But
I guess you can't basically put heat on an icon,
and he's an icon, especially in Denver's an icon, But

(01:54:32):
you can't do it. But he he didn't didn't fit
the role that he was put into. It. Just look,
if you're trying to hit the lottery, you gotta play
the lottery. That's the way it is with quarterbacks in
the NFL. You're not going to hit the lottery if
you aren't buying scratch off tickets. That's just the way
it is. You gotta if you want to hit the lottery,
you gotta get powerball or get a scratch off whatever.

(01:54:55):
But if you're sitting there saying I hope to hit
the lottery, it's like, Okay, did you buy any tickets.
If your answer is no, you're not gonna hit the lottery.
That's what Denver did that they brought in Teddy Bridgewater.
That is not a lottery ticket. That is a bridge quarterback.
You are not finishing football players know this, and I'm
not a fantashy football player, but you know this that

(01:55:17):
you are not gonna win in the National Football League
without a quarterback. A quarterback of stature, I'm not sure.
It has to be a proven future quarterback, of franchise
quarter a durable quarterback, a quarterback who's consistent. Look, I'm
gonna compare like I'm gonna go back to Baker Mayfield.
He's not a tremendous quarterback. He's a functionable quarterback that

(01:55:39):
you could win with. They don't have a quarterback right
now between Bridgewater and Drew Lock that you could win with.
And listen, last thing I'll say is this is not
a Sam Donald situation. You can't look at Drew Lock
and say, oh, man, he doesn't have anything to work with.
He's got a lot to work with. You could say
that with Sam Donald, at least to a degree when

(01:56:00):
he was with the Jets, you can still question, hey,
how much of it was Donald, how much of it
was the supporting cast. You can't do that in Denver.
You've got more than enough to work with as a
quarterback there, and Drew Lock just simply has not gotten
it done at all. And I'd be shocked if they
start him this year. I really well, he'll start think so, yeah,

(01:56:22):
he's got the higher upside to probably run him out
there again. I mean, I think Codgewater is you know though,
you're exactly right, but I think that one of those
deals is just flip a coin to see who's gonna
start this. I mean, just the idea that it is
flip a coin is telling right, Like if you're in
this dead heat with Teddy Bridgewater, it's like, oh gosh,

(01:56:43):
we are not settled at QB. You're exactly right, Brian No.
Andy Fermant, Fox Butts Sunday on Fox Puts Radio. Hey,
how's this for an unusual nasty quirk. We'll tell you
all about it next. Noose Picks coming right up. That's
probably no. I'm Andy Fermant together with Fox Spots Sunday
on Fox Boats Radio about twelve minutes before the top
of the hour. And by the way, at the top

(01:57:04):
of the hour, which would be not o'clock on the
East coast, you've got Mike Harmon in l A l
A is LaVar Arrington together. You could hear them on
iHeart Radio, on the iHeart Radio app, on Sirius xm
AD three, and of course on many are these same
Fox Sports radio affiliates. But right now you're gonna hear
my guy, Brian No and nose Picks. Are you in

(01:57:30):
desperate need of gambling insights? Do not fear for Brian
No is here and now the time is come for
nose Picks. All right, Andy. From a successful week last
week two and one, we are in the money. We're
trying to keep it going along this week as well.

(01:57:50):
I'm running it back with your Cincinnati Reds they're playing
good baseball, uh and two over their last ten. And
that's right, they're playing the lowly Pirates. What do we do?
We go to the run line. I know you're not
a fan of the run line. I think it works today.
Reds have to win by at least two runs. They will.
They're minus one thirty. We're taking the run line with
the Reds. Huh, agreement by you? Very good, good good.

(01:58:13):
I'm glad we're off to a winning start. I'm gonna look,
this is a tough one. Brewers minus one ten hosting
the Giants minus one ten, both teams playing really good
baseball leading their respective divisions. I'm going with the home team.
With Brett Anderson on the bump today, give me the
brew crew. I like him to get it done against
San fran today. And finally the jan Kees. Huh, you

(01:58:36):
get Anthony Rizzo over there. All of a sudden, the
Bronx Bombers. They're coming back with a vengeance minus one
forty today as they host the Mariners. I love them
against Seattle, so give me the Yankees as well. What
do you think of those three? I think two out
of three for sure that brewis Giants I'm a little
shaky on little shake. You what you're doubting the brew crew. Yeah,

(01:58:58):
the giants are good giants and they have been playing
really good baseball. We keep waiting for them to fall off.
They still have a four game lead, and all right,
it's time to go your own way and go my
own way right now? Get this? One year old Kurt
Michael Fulton. He was arrested after he allegedly hit cherry pies,

(01:59:19):
VHS tapes, and other various items where underneath the park
cars of women drivers. Why so he could see them
bend over and pick them up while they watched them
from a distance with binocular unbelievable. He'd wait in his
car while an unsuspecting female victim parked their car in
a target parking lot. The victim would exit the vehicle
enter the store. He'd run over and places various items

(01:59:40):
of front or behind the tires of the car. And
these items included get this, laptops, VHS tapes at McDonald's
cherry pies. He'd run back to his car again to
gain a better advantage point and which stalk and victims
with the use of binoculars. That women would then be
forced to bend over to see what they've driven over.
If they're hearing a crun jing was squishing sound. Not

(02:00:02):
a share of comment on a Fulton's behavior. It's very creepy,
unacceptable behavior. That's the best way to describe it. And
he was arrested and charged with aggravated stalking with a
habitual offender, second offense enhancement, as we're discovered, and that
the Fulton County, Michigan had arrested for the same time.
And oh seven, he's being held in Saginaw County Jail

(02:00:23):
with a bond of eighty thousand dollars. How do you
like that? I don't like that at all. I thought
that was a great description. Super creepy. Absolutely. I have
two stories for you here, and let's look at the
Australian men's rugby team. These hooligans over here, so you
might have heard about them destroying a room where there

(02:00:44):
was some vomit found in a location you normally don't
see vomit. It doesn't end there. So these Yahoo's they're
flying back after the Olympics on Thursday, and the entire
rugby seven's team has been reprimanded for its behavior on
the flight back home. So they've been accused of drunkenly chanting, singing,

(02:01:05):
disrupting crew and vomiting in their seats and toilets. They
actually rendered one toilet unusable, and so Japan Airlines. They're
insisting that the Australian Olympic Committee has a liaison on board,
basically a chaperone for the Olympians going forward. I'm sure

(02:01:29):
Brian Finley loves that story. Vomiting his favorite word right there.
And last, what I have for you somber note here.
I hate to close like this, but Bury the Owl
he was a mainstay in Central Park. I take you
right over to New York. Right you get to the city. Here,
Bury the Owl he has been struck by a maintenance vehicle.

(02:01:49):
He uh yeah, he is no longer with us anymore.
Struck around two thirty am on Friday in the Park.
Now I bring this up because there is actually, believe
it or not, there will be a vigil for Bury
the Owl tomorrow, No kidding. In Central Park it would
have been Buryes ten month anniversary. So uh, And I

(02:02:10):
don't know if you'll see it on National TV. I
just I don't know, if it's just me. I find
that a little bit funny. Can you imagine telling your
girlfriend like, hey, baby, i'll see you later. Where are
you going. There's a it's a vigil for Bury the Owl.
You know, he's no longer with us, but hey, people
gotta pay their condolences here, so shout out Bury the Owl. There.

(02:02:30):
We got a good show today, really was Our time
is up. Want to thank everybody for this and of
course have a wonderful day. We'll see here next week.
We're on Fox Sports Radio.
