Funny is leading the crew. As you always know, my man,
I are in the building in our super producer, Miss
Mary Mack is on the ones and Tuesa. And then
of course the greatest update guy in the business. For
my dollar, I'll put my money on him all day long,
mister Steve the Sega but special guess and we're doing
(01:27):
double duty. Just two nights ago, him and I ran
for four hours and we the show was so dope.
We had stuff on our up rundown there we didn't
even get a chance to get to And I have
a feeling that might be the same today. But you
hear him here on Sunday night, you hear him filling
in on every other show, any other hour, any day
of the week, month year. He's a former Big Time
columnist out here in LA used to cover sports, call games,
(01:49):
cover games. You think I do a lot, people tweet
me and go, how do you do so much? This
guy's done way more than me. That's why I'm always
glad to have him, and he is easily my favorite
person to fill in with. My man Arnie Cocker Spaniard,
oh and Vermont mister I'm gonna sit in the car
with my flip flops on and let everybody dig me ou.
(02:10):
I'm gonna tell you that's pretty pin. I'm gonna tell
you right now, that's pretty pin. When you can leave
knowing you're in the storm and no the possibilities of
you getting stuck and still being able to pick up
the horn and call Pete to come rescue, and you
chill and the width you don't even get out, and
no one gets mad at you. You still get dessert
made for you for your shows. You still get salmon,
and you get the green beans that's grown right in
(02:32):
the backyard. Arnie, if I could be man, if I
had your hands, I cut on off.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
You love that story, You love that story. I love
a great sports talk radio night. We got the Laker
game tonight. I got my Arizona Wildcats later on, although
we'll be playing the first half and fighting.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Caleb loves oh Man, fighting, Caleb loves I Get.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I can't wait to see what's gonna happen with Luca,
what he's gonna do, because he's just been, as far
as I'm concerned, disappointing.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
So looking forward to that. Just a good sports radio lights.
That's absolutely well, my man. Let's do it. Let's lock
in for the next three hours. Let's please the listeners
that are listening all over the nation, four hundred and
seventy two cities we're syndicated in. And if there's no UCLA,
no USC or no LAK or Clipper going on right
now on five to seventy am in Los Angeles, you
runeing around, Hey man, turn us on and hit us
up on Twitter. Make sure you catch us there, big
(03:19):
vanilla funny at stinking Genius one. And we really read
your tweet. So Arnie, let's start. This is actually basketball season, right,
you got college hoops, you got NBA, you got hockey.
We just had the Four Nations. Got a little golf
going on. I watched some tournament they did the other
day indoors where they hit the ball against the screen
and then you know, it's almost like when you go
(03:40):
to the virtual driving range. They had some type of
competition that was on ESPNA that I watched.
Speaker 3 (03:45):
That.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
There's a lot going on, but we all know the pigskin,
the oblong ball, the brown thing with the white laces.
Football NFL college football is king in the United States
of America and right now there's not a lot to
talk about being the Super Bowl is over, so we
gotta make things up. So we want to talk some
rumors right now, Arnie. We want to talk about players
that could be going somewhere and what type of pairing
(04:07):
that you might want to see happen. Right we know
there's some things with Tyreek Hill and our beloved Miami Dolphins. Correct.
We know that there's a rod and Rogers miss the
discount double check mister dark room. Uh, mister conspiracy guy.
Where's he gonna end up to them? Bump ass Jets
have said they're done with him and moving on. Devontae
Adams is the name out there, Matthew Stafford's name out there.
(04:27):
So Arnie, I'm gonna spin it to you, man, because
you're you're good at this stuff. You're good at rumors
and and and kind of throwing things together and what
you want to see never really as accurate as me,
but you're good. You're good at bringing them up. So Alrenie,
give me some players. I got a few here, who
do you want to see move from where they are
and where would you like to see them?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Well, you know what, let me start with Matthew Stafford,
because I know everybody was talking about him, and I
heard Jonas bringing him up. I heard Hartman and Montsey
bringing them up, saying, you know, the Rams are like,
go ahead to see what's out there. Go ahead, I didn't,
you know, talk to other teams, see your worth, come
back to us, and then and then we'll talk out there.
And then everybody's saying, there's nothing to see here. He's
(05:08):
gonna be a RAM. They just don't want to pay
him a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Look at his.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Age and and YadA, YadA, YadA. I'm one of those
guys VJ where there's smoke, there's fire. If your wife
comes up to you and say no, no, no, no, I
want to be married. But I'm still gonna sign up
on Tinder. Something's not right about that. You know it's
not right. No, no, no, we still watch you here, right,
(05:32):
we still watch you here. But go and flirt with
everybody else and see what your worth is. That leaves
a lot of bad feelings. I guess I'm gonna be
in the minority of this. I don't think he's gonna
come back to the Rams. I don't think the Rams
want to pay him Okay, matter of fact, I know
the Rams don't want to pay him, and I don't
think I could blame them. I would love, absolutely love
(05:56):
to see him on the Raiders. I don't think he
wants to go out that way unless somebody like Tom
Brady can talk to him into it and say, I
promise you, We're not gonna leave you hanging. I'm gonna
look you in the eye.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
I'm owner of this team.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
The last thing I want you to do is go
out like some shlub out of two and fifteen team
or something like that. I give you my ward. We're
gonna put pieces around you. Maybe that word's good enough
to get him over to the Raiders. I like to
see him go ahead and play there.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
VJ Okay, well, his name has been out there now
I'll touch on that first. I would like to see
Matthew Stafford stay where he is. I just don't think
at this point in your career, you've already moved to
another team. You won a Super Bowl there. If they
want to do a one year rental with him and
maybe take a quarterback in the mid rounds, or maybe
even flirt with Sam Donald, you know what I'm saying
(06:47):
With Sam Darnold being out there, maybe justin Fields right,
like Sean McVay. He's the quarterback whisperer, right, like he
gets it done. Got jeff a golf to a super Bowl,
got Matthew Stafford after all those years in Detroit, two
a super Bowl in one one. He's playing in two
of them. This year. He's gutted with injuries on the
offensive side of the ball. Pooka gone, a cup gone.
(07:08):
They lost Williams at one point at running back, and
then they lost Korn at the end of the year.
He couldn't even play in a playoff game at a broken
form like they had so many injuries and for them
to still make the playoffs, still win the division, still
be competitive. I think like even a justin Fields could
work out here if they decided to move on from
Matthew Stafford Aaron Rodgers coming here. It's it's to me
(07:31):
yeay or nay, right, it's fifty to fifty. It's a coin,
flip's head or tails, right, It's it's potatoes a stovetop.
Just pick the one you want and go with it.
It can't really be a bad answer, right.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
No, No, it's what's whatever's on sale exactly right, exactly.
You're on a limited budget. You're like, Okay, well this
is two for three dollars. The other one's four ninety odd.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
There you go. I'm taking two for three.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Two for three dollars every time. Look, I'm not the
biggest Roger fans, but when we were. When I was
doing my top ten quarterback list the other day, it's
hard for me to keep Rogers out of the all
time top ten. A one year rental is the way
to go. When you mentioned Donald, he's not a one
year rental. He's gonna want a three four year contract
and a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Would you pay Would you pay Donald three years hunt him? No, No,
I'm not. I'm not.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
I'm not gonna play brock Purty that type of money either.
But obviously I'm gonna be wrong somewhere. You gotta have
a quarterback somewhere, VJ. That's for sure as well. If
you don't have a quarterback. I tell people all the
time I have football rules.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
People know him. They go real fast, run the balls
off to run, protect the passer, rush the passer, don't
commit stupid penalties, don't turn the ball over. You'll win
sixty seven percent of your games. If you do that,
it's been proven the numbers don't fail. So you have
to do that. Mother thing is if you don't have
a quarterback. I don't care if it's Pot Warner. I
don't care if it's high school, middle school, JV varsity, NFL, Europe, USFL,
(08:46):
the XFL, the NFA, doesn't matter. College. If you do
not have a quarterback, you have zero shot at longevity
of winning in that particular season. You gotta have a
single caller. The way the game is played, they either
have a quarterback or you're are you're looking for one right?
If you that's true? Are you looking for one? Right?
And if you got too? Is what'll Bill Parcell say?
(09:07):
If you got too, you don't have one right. So
that that's how I feel about as far as quarterbacks
are concern. We know the Raiders need one. If I'm
the Raiders, I try to make some moves man to
try to go get Shadur cam Ward. I try to
move up in the draft. You really don't know what
Tennessee is gonna do. Sitting at number one. They're holding
it close to the vest. But I'm pretty sure I
guarantee you neither cam Ward or Shador Serias wants to
be there? Would it be happy being the number one
(09:28):
overall draft pick? Of course, But if you're telling me, hey,
where do you want to go? I'm pretty sure it's
not it could it might not be there. Thursday night,
you and I had on a gentleman Todd who told
us that uh, Tennessee could be a landing spot for
Aaron Rodgers being that he resides in Nashville, and that
blew me out of my sail, like, wow, I didn't
(09:48):
think about that. But why if you're Aaron Rodgers, why
would you do that? That cupboard is really bear there.
I want to move on to another player that's got
a lot of retreat. Two guys has got a lot
of a treat for me, and that's who wants some
of d Samuel and my man Miles Garrett, the best
rush in in football. They both want out. They've both
been granted to look for trade them. Teams, the agents,
(10:08):
the players, they're all in agreement. They all want out.
I'm gonna I'm gonna Homer here for a second. Could
you imagine Deebo Samuel lining up with Jalen Waddle and
Tyreek Hill that type of offense coming from the system
that Mike McDaniel helped run. The running back system over there,
the receiver system over there in San Francisco. We see
(10:29):
what he did when he got Shirtfield from over there.
We see what he's done with this offense. Yeah, we
gotta keep healthy. Everybody knows that. That's no big secret.
OOS has gotta be healthy. Okay, But Deebo Samuel is
going to be a lynchpin to a team that could
put them over the top. He's done in San Francisco.
A team also I look at for a goal let
Diebo could be the Minnesota Vikings. That's a team that
(10:51):
could probably add another piece of fire power in that offense.
You talk about Kevin O'Connell, who won the Super Bowl
as the offensive coordinator with the La Rams, who knows
what he's doing on the off the side of the
ball getting a weapon by him. Miles Garrett is another one.
I understand the Dolphins finished with the number fourth rank defense,
but man Chubb is older, he didn't come back last year.
We don't know what's up with Phillips. We know Chop
is solid, right and we know Zealer is solid. Those
(11:14):
are the two solid guys on that line. I add,
if I'm the Dolphins, I'm asking Cleveland, Okay, what do
you want? What does it take to add a game
changing rush in like that? Who has got to chase
Josh Allen? We need a guy that could get Josh
Allen to the ground in late game situations, especially if
we got to go up to Buffalo and play in
(11:35):
the cold, or go to Kansas City and playing eight
degree three degree whether where people are getting toes and
fingers amputated after the game it was so cold out there,
the fans that was stand at the game. I would
look at a guy like that. If I'm the Dolphins,
I think the Dolphins have some moves they need to make.
And then also another name, I thought there, what's gonna
happen with Michael Parsons. I said on this show that
if they paid CD and that before they paid Micah,
(11:57):
they were gonna risk losing Michael. Either he was gonna
want O or they were just gonna have to make
some business isision. He hadn't say he wont it out yet,
But how do you keep that guy help happy? Just
a game record on the defense side of ball too.
Those are three names I throw out there, Debo and Garrett. Well,
maybe let me start with Debo. I mean, this is
like a true question. Sure every team would like to
have Debo. But the question is, if you're the Dolphins
(12:18):
and you brought them up, would I want Debo or
would I want three really good offensive linemen to protect
my quarterback and help the run. Get that in the draft.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
But what maybe you can maybe you can't go but
you know it's one or the other because Debo comes
with the high price tag. If I'm going to spend
that type of money, I like, Garrett, you brought that up.
Speaker 1 (12:37):
I'm all for that.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
If I'm one of the teams that is one defensive
guy away like Buffalo, maybe Miami, something like that. Maybe
the Ravens want to go all in on that.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Oh Man cauld you imagine Garrett on the Ravens defense.
I'm all in for that.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
You mentioned Micah, That's that's the one I want. If
I'm if I'm the Bills, if I'm the Dolphins, if
I'm the Ravens, if I'm the Steelers, if I'm a
lot of the.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Teams, if I'm Detroit.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
With Detroit, I want to get somebody like that, and
if I have to give up first round picks between
now and the year three thousand, so be it, because
that's been the long ast time it is. But that's
but that's that's that's where that's go bigger, go home.
That that's the adage there, go bigger.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Go home. I'm gonna take Mike. I love that guy,
so that that's that's the direction I'm going. And if
I'm one guy away defensively, I don't mind Detroit possibly
looking at it, Garrett, because they might get scared into
making a move like that front office wise, because of
all the andrees they had on defense. When the playoffs
were coming down the stretch and going into the playoffs,
(13:48):
they were signing guys off the street man and you
and I know as Dolphin fans, we did that with
JPP and then we brought back Melvin Ingram, and neither
one of those guys did nothing in the last three weeks.
And neither of JPP never even played, He never even
saw feel when we sign him and brought him up,
brought him back off off to sitting on his sofa.
So if I'm Detroit, I couldn't look that way. But
(14:08):
are you being scared into it because of the injuries
and things of that nature that you know that you
would face, though, but I mean that stuff. Man, Go ahead,
I'm sorry, going.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Just one more thing because I brought this up with
Plank about a month ago and he just like ridiculed
me down on this. But now it could be a possibility,
especially when Detroit had their injuries at running back. To
David Montgomery. There's only so long you could have two
fantastic running backs in Jamar Gibbs and in David Montgomery.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
Sure sooner, so you know.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
You gotta pay one of them, and you can't pay both,
and they're both really damn good. If I'm Detroit, I'm
trading Montgomery, and who'd be first in line?
Speaker 1 (14:51):
It better be the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
Can you imagine the Kansas City Chiefs with a running
back like David Montgomery. That's a whole game changer for
somebody like that. I love my gun. I don't know
where you standing on him. He got hurt, but he
came back, came back strong. I think that's the day
might go after from the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Now, I don't mind at all. The Chiefs need to
overhaul their tight end room, a wide receiver room, and
their running back room. All the three all three of
those rooms need to be overhauled. And if I'm pat,
I'm making a big stink about it. Man, So great
stuff there. We'll get into more NFL rooms and more
NFL stuff as the show con teams. Man, we are
off and running. VJ. Vernon huskyt a big vanilla funny
Arnie Speakers, stinking genius. One. Don't forget to get on
(15:29):
Twitter or X. I'm sorry, actually got to be politically
correct with the social media stuff nowadays. I'm SoC sick
of social media. If I didn't need it, man, i'd
close all of that stuff. But we'll take a quick break, man,
pay some bills when we come back. Everybody pretty much
knows the best player on any NBA, Major League Baseball, NFL,
or NHL team. But we do have an NBA team
(15:50):
that we have two great players, and we're kind of
questioning who's the best player on that team. We'll hit
you with that on our way back. VJ. Vernon Husky
also Arnie Spanyer, Fox Sports Football on Saturday. Fox Sports Radio.

What happened to the best player in the NBA and
this team that we're gonna bring up right now? Man,
don't forget coming to you lot from TI right dot
com studio. By the way, you can join the conversation.
Hit us up on Twitter slash x I am VJ.
Verner Husky at the Big Vanilla Funny. He is Ernie
Speyer at Stinking Genius one. We love to read your tweets. Man,
get in on this throw player out there off that
last segment. Who do you want to see and where
(16:39):
would you want to see him with the new team?
Let us know what's good so already far with the
breakman a tease everybody. We always know Arnie. Who's the
best player on every team right here? There's no there's
no guessing for certain squads right but out here in
Lo Lailand Wyam. The Los Angeles Lakers made a trade
a few weeks ago to trade deadline for Anthony did
(17:00):
and mister Luca Donchez. I cover the team up close
to personal, have been there, They've looked, okay, won a
few games, but then beat the Jazz and then lost
to the Jazz and then lost to the Hornets, went
on the road to Portland. On the back to back,
Luca sits, Lebron goes for forty and Alsin Reeves goes
for like thirty five or thirty seven or something like that,
and they get the dub on the road to get
(17:22):
some really bad Portland team. But there are some questions
out there who is the better player right now and
possibly moving forward. So I'll propose the question to you,
mister Arnie Spaniard, who's the Lakers' best player right now?
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Well, I mean it's such a short window, such a short.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Oh really, it's not three or four guys.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Okay, no, no, just a short amount of games. Okay, Luca,
you know, it's so tough to say he's better than,
especially what Lebron James a to do with competence, especially
with the forty point game. So obviously Lebron's their best
player right now, but there's no doubt that Luca is
the future of the Lakers. As a matter of fact,
going into the late into this year and into the playoffs,
(18:01):
Luca's probably gonna have to be their best player. If
they expect to win a championship or go to the championship,
Lebron's not gonna be able to carry them. Luca's is
gonna have to go ahead and be the best player.
Lebron's gonna have to share the ball, and he's not
very good at sharing. He's like a three year old
that just doesn't want to share his toys VJ. And
he knows he has a great player. Did you see
(18:22):
the game that he played, He was standing around there.
I'm talking about Luca waiting to get a jump shot
off whenever he got the ball. He reminded me of
Travis Kelce when Mahomes is running around and he was
just standing there. You know what I'm saying, kind of
kind of like the same thing. That's not the way
Luca plays, and that's not the way the Lakers are
gonna play basketball when they went to get Lucas.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
So it's still a short win.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
It's still a short uh you know span there. And
I think they're obviously going to get so much better,
But right now, Lebron's gonna have to carry him until
Luca gets into shape.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Well, yeah, Lebron's got the car until Luca gets into shape.
But here, here's the thing, the fact that this trade
was made right. Luca's coming off the calf. Luca's been
out since Christmas Day. You bring him in, they hold
him out the first few games, which I expected, but
then you kind of rush him in and play. I'm
there the other night watching him play the hornets, he
he just looks like he's laboring. He looks like it's
(19:16):
hard for him, man, like it's not as easy. Luca
kind of reminds me like a Paul Pierce type player.
Not fast, done, jump higher than everybody, not super quick,
but could get to anywhere he wants to win the
counter he wants, yeah, joker, but whenever he wants to
get there, can get there when he wants to get
there and get any shot he wants to get off
against any defender that's out there. But I don't see
(19:37):
that type of explosion. If he went one for nine
from three and when he hit one, he kind of
threw both hands up, like you know, hey in the
crowd is funny. It was more like a sarcastic cheer,
and the teammates were clapping on the bench like, yeah,
I finally got one to go. I guess right now
because he's you know, not in shape and got to
get back in Game four him coming from the injury.
The best player on the team is Lebron, which is
(19:59):
funny because I was having a debate and argument with
another host here at the station that Luca's the best
player on the team. I'm like, Bro, I'm in the arena.
There are people there walking around who still feel Lebron
James is the best player on that team, even after
they made the Luca trade. So I don't think that
Luca is ever going to be seen as the best player.
I don't think there's ever been a player that would
(20:20):
seem better than Lebron on any team. But he's definitely
gonna to carr him. Austin Reeves is the lynchpin to
all of this. He gets ejected very quickly the other
night against the Hornets and that offense falls apart. MS
coach JJ Reddick talked about it in the post game.
He talked about the post game when you lose that
that guy that can handle the ball, distribute, he plays
good defense, he works hard, he's the total team guy.
(20:42):
And then he comes back against Portland, has thirty plus
with Lebron's forty, so you see how important he is.
I think he's the lynch pin really to this team. Cup.
We know what Lebron's gonna do, and we know what
Luca's gonna do. But it's the muss Halves. I know,
Shack glics to call him the others, but I think
that's slightly disrespectful. The must Havelves is a little more
appropriate because you must have these guys to actually win
and have a chance to contend in the Western Conference
(21:05):
and win a championship. I agree with you on Reeves.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
I mean, I just love them the fact that every
time they want to mention him in the trade roumer,
I just criadge gog, what are you talking about, man,
what do you want to do? There's one way you'll
tell if the Lakers are ready to make a runner
winning a championship. They'll finishes the number two seed. They're
way three games out of the number two seed behind Memphis.
They've got about three or four teams, three teams to
(21:29):
climb to get to that number two seed.
Speaker 1 (21:31):
If they can do that, Oh hold on, hold on,
let me just let me just reset this. You're saying
the Lakers are gonna finish it the number two seed
in the Western Conference, and that's your prediction right now.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
So I'm saying if they start playing the way they
should play with Luca and finish the number two seed,
then they show that they're ready to be serious and
make a run and everything.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
I think they will.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
I think they could pass the Rockets, which is only
a one game lead on them. It's gonna be tough
to catch the Nuggets, but I think they can catch Memphis.
So the two or three very doable for the Lakers
if they play up to their expectations and don't lose
those fogus games like they did before the Portland game.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
Yeah, with some of their schedule, the schedule may not
be you know, it's murderers exactly. They got, they got
a break.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
I'm so did you see Lebron getting ripped about putting
he put on social media the next six games and
then people and then he goes, wow, what a schedule
and people like man, do you think Magic Johnson put
that up and said what a tough schedule or anything
like that.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
He's just getting ripped all over social wed. He really
should for that, because he didn't. He didn't complain about
having Utah Utah Hornets and Portland.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Right before the break it's been a week off.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
And then after the break. He didn't complain about that
at all. So, but they have Dallas, Minnesota and the
Clippers the end, and they start off March with the
Clippers New Orleans. They'll have the Nicobacas come in. I'll
be there for that game Boston, and then they're on
the long road trip. But I'll tell you this. I'll
tell you who's the best player in the update world
right now, and that's our guy, Steve. The saga. Everything
(23:00):
going on, stee, we got college basketball to some NHL
going one today, phillis in, big guy, what's going on?
Good to see you, sir, and you as well. Good
to hear you already. And of course being.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
A Saturday night, that means the Arizona Athletics department has
some sort of the show coming up.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Just the first half, just the first half.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
That's right, and then they'll lose after you leave.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
But your good luck charm has I think been consistent.
Let's just say for the Arizona Athletic department. On Saturday nights,
we got college hoops going on on Fox TV. From
Madison Square Garden right now. Number three Duke without a
turnover yet and leading thirty to twenty against Illinois about
eight minutes left in the first half. Arkansas is hosting
number fifteen Missouri. That's underway. Nineteenth ranked Arizona has its
(23:42):
home game against BYU in an hour and a half.
Number one Auburn beat Georgia today. Number two Florida was
down six at the half but still one at LSU
seventy nine to sixty five. Fourth ranked Alabama has beaten
Kentucky ninety six to eighty three. Top ten matchup at
Houston went to the Cougar's over Iowa State sixty eight
to fifty nine. LJ Cryer twenty eight points. Top ten
(24:05):
match up at A and M went to Tennessee, beating
Texas A and M seventy seven sixty nine. Chas Lanier
thirty points in Oregon, down fifteen at Wisconsin with only
seven and a half minutes to go, came back to
win an overtime.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Again it was such a choke joke.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Yes, The eleven thranc Badgers lose at home seventy seven
seventy three Oklahoma beat number twenty one Mississippi State Vanderbilt
over number twenty four old miss ESPN reporting this first.
Coach Greg Popovich not expected to return this season after
his mild stroke in November. Coming up in a few minutes,
it's the Lakers at Denver. The Nuggets have won nine
(24:40):
in a row. Philadelphia has lost six straight and currently
Philly is losing at home late first half to the
Nets fifty three to forty one. Today it was Phoenix
ending a four game losing streak with a victory at
Chicago won twenty one, one seventeen. Devin Booker twenty nine
points for the Suns, Kevin Durant twenty seven. Bradley be
Will scored twenty five among the fourteen NHL games. Yes,
(25:04):
the league was off for almost two weeks. They're back now.
Minnesota won in overtime at Detroit four to three, Buffalo
eight two over the Rangers, and Washington won eight three
at Pittsburgh. Juan Soto of the Mets homered in his
first spring at bat for his new team, and the
Mets beach Houston sixty two. Lie de la Cruz of
the Reds homered from each side of the plate in
a six ' three victory against Cleveland and Atlanta's Chris Sale,
(25:27):
the cy young winner, pitched two perfect innings at spring training. Today,
Minnesota beat the Braves three to one.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Back to you, appreciate you, Steve as always man as
always coming to you live on the tyrack dot com
studios already with some baseball news there to Sega's get
us some based on new one So dog goes deep.
Oh I love it. Yeah, yes one. Soda is a
Yankee fan in the studio right now. Man, she is
super die hard, so I know she was happy to
hear about that. But so let's let's talk some baseball
man something that I'm man, I'm fifty to fifty on
(25:56):
trying to correct human airr height when it comes to sport,
because I believe it's just part of the game. You
have humans making calls that aren't specific calls, right, they're
subjective holding. To me, we know holding when we see holding.
In the NFL, you rarely see a holding calls. See
(26:16):
the replay, Go oh, man, that wasn't holding. Nah, he
was about this at Texis quarterback and he pulled a
guy down. What you're supposed to do, right, You got
to do everything to protect your quarterback. Sometimes we see
certain fouls in the NBA. It's like, dude, he's blowing
his shoulder, he has an offensive foul charge blocking that's
always kind of in the middle, and now they can
go review all that stuff. But baseball, to me, I
think they're taking a little power away from the umpires
(26:38):
who have a tough job to crouch down behind a
guy who's squatting in front of you and trying to
have this imaginary box in your head of where a
ninety eight mile an hour pitch by the time it
leaves the pitcher's hand in a split second, it's hit
in the middle of the catcher right, and you have
(26:59):
to try to judge whether this is a ball strike
too high, too low, inside, outside. And I rarely watch
a game where I'm like, it's like an egregious call.
I know there was a ump last year and the
fin the last two years, I was just making some
egregious calls. There you go, that's the guy, Hey, that
guy some of this stuff he was calling though, yeah
he's got he's retired.
Speaker 5 (27:17):
Man.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
That was that was neckad Gun and that was the
end of necket Gun. If you remember that where he
was calling he was calling strike before the ball was
even was even hitting the midt there. But they're they're
gonna they want to introduce this testing robot abs. Yeah,
and and I'm just like, man, we're taking If that's
the case, they just make it all digital. We I
(27:39):
don't want half in half, you know what I'm saying.
I drink plant based milk. I don't need the dairy.
I don't need the half in half. Give me the
real or give me the fake, don't give me both.
Where are you staying with this?
Speaker 2 (27:49):
I understand that part, all right. You threw me for
a little because some people like I've against it too
much technology, too much changing of the rules, and if
you just want to throw the sports out there in general.
We've tinkered with the rules in the NFL. We've takend
with the rules with the pitch clock and stuff like that.
And people like too much, too much automation, too much this.
(28:10):
And I'm like, is that really bad?
Speaker 3 (28:12):
You know?
Speaker 1 (28:12):
VJ?
Speaker 2 (28:13):
I see what you bring to the games. You got
your laptop, you got you've got like a suit, you
got everything. How about if I told you now, I'm
gonna take away your tablet and I'm gonna take away
your laptop and you gotta go with the old clunky
uh tape recorder, with with the old fashioned you know,
with with the old fashioned microphone.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
And don't got to walk in the arenas with my
little roll at suits and have that photograph videograph my
videos for you.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
I don't get that, No, and you got to push
the two buttons that say play and record at the
same time, you know. So it's and you know what
I'm talking about because you're here that age too. But
you know, how about if I took technology away from you,
it makes your job tougher.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
So I think this technology is good.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
I think it certainly gives us a more definitive case,
whether it's a ball or strike. It's only two challenges,
so you're really I'm telling everybody you can't use it.
The only people that can use it is if the
bases are loaded and it's a three two count and
I don't like the call. Otherwise it's it's only gonna
be for our top hitters. Otherwise I don't want to
(29:17):
go ahead and here I don't want to use it
challen so and they're not gonna use it anyway right away.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
This was just spring training. But I'm just saying overall,
so technology could be good. I'm for it if it
could make the game better. Here air is my thing
with the old school. Like if you said, VJ, what
if they take all those things away from you? Well,
guess what I grew up in the DMV reading the
Washington Post, right, anybody I know the Washington Post was
was was a coin Heeiser and Will Bond, two guys
(29:42):
that have been on PTIF for the last twenty one years,
twenty two years. Yeah, those guys went into arenas and
went into places. Rob Parker here who was a it
was a forty year man in this business. Chris Brussard,
who's over FS one but had a radio show here
at FSR, was in his business for thirty thirty five years.
You missed it. The Sager Therapy people that did this
before me. They didn't get to go in with their
(30:03):
rolling suitcases, set up their their their tablets and and
and have everything. Had their snacks and my gummy worms
and my skittles and and my extra ginger rails and
all of that stuff. There was a time where you
guys didn't get fed at the arenas like we do now.
Get free food and fahitas and chicken and turkey and
all that good stuff. But guess what, you guys still
did the job right. Yeah, but no, no, no, no,
(30:25):
we're gonna take that part away that this is easy.
It was and you did it right. The fact is
you did it. It didn't matter if it was hard
or easy. The fact is that you did it. And
if the job is too hard, okay, they just take
the yumps away. If the job. I always say this
about like honestly, like what like a pilot, right, you
can't tell me landing's hard. That's the most important part
(30:45):
of the job. Bruy mice can screw up on the takeoff.
Oh what that takeoff was a little crazy, But after
we got the ten thousand feet I writed it, you
can't go man, I really screw that landing where we
slid to the side and one wing got blown off.
But you can't have that.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
They keep it on autopilot until the end, and then
they landed to themselves.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Keep it on all that's true, that's true. But guess what,
there was a day they didn't have that. There was
a day we got full meals on flights and you
could smoke cigarettes on flights. You and I are that old, right,
I know somebody young's listeners like what, yes, America, young
people under the age of thirty, you used to be
able to smoke cigarettes on commercial domestic air flights in
the United States. Of them.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
You could be in flight, you could be a roll
like fifteen B and fourteen was.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Smoking and bring up and be smoking right. And there
were ash trays right in the arm wrest ladies and gentlemen,
boys and girls. So I'm like I said, if I
don't need the half in half, let's just keep it
with the umpires. Now, if if a manager wants to
question a certain call, then you do it like you
do in tennis, right, I love that in tennis. Where
in tennis, if if Serena Williams think that ball is out,
(31:49):
she could point a racket to the judge and it put.
They put it on the big screen. They show the
ball go and hit and it's a dark spot and
it's like, oh, she's right, that was out. That's fine.
That doesn't mean that that person's bad. It's just that, hey,
that thing was so close. Let's just go to the technology.
But if we're using it now, where you know it's
half and half, and please take away all the well
(32:10):
you can do when the bases load and the winners
diferent winners. That that's like the that's like the ghost
runner and extra innings. I can't stand that route. The
pitch clock, I like the throw No, who's so you
get to pitch somebody right on second base? Bro VJ.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Who's the worst though? Who's the worst umpire?
Speaker 5 (32:28):
Not?
Speaker 1 (32:28):
I don't mean by name. I mean there's like NFL umpires,
NBA umpires baseball, the NFL does. It's horrible, John, it's
NBA because the end because see in in the NFL,
you can't fake your way to a passing affairs, right.
(32:49):
You either grab the guy or the guy guy grabbed you.
You really see a receiver grabber a defensive back and
like put his hand on him so he can get
the throw it short on purpose so you can slow down. Yeah,
but that's but that's a rule though, I don't think
that's what the rule is. If a course, if a
receiver is trying to work himself back to a ball,
and you do not turn and looking make an effort
on the ball, it's going to be that's the rule.
(33:12):
The ref has no he has no choice but for
let's say Lebron James to lower his shoulder, create the
contact and then kind of flail his arms up as
he shoots and the defenders running winning with his arms
in the air, and the ref costs that a foul,
and after Arena is like, dude, that's not a foul.
(33:33):
You're creating the contact. The offensive player is creating the contact.
It can't be. If I think the NBA uh does
a bad call, does a bad job officiating again, I
think the NFL gets a bad name because it's one
day a week the world is watching and when we
can just destroyed exactly one.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Call in the fourth quarter, destroyed and we all talk
about it all week.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
On Absolutely we don't talk in the NBA. We say, hey, man,
you gotta swallow that whistle, and I'm all for that
last fifteenth seconds, tight game. If it's not a clear,
gregious foul, let them, let the players play, man, Let
the players decide it. A foul in the first five
minutes of the game. Is not a foul in the
last No, it's not. I don't buy. I never buy that.
I heard. If it's a foul in the first course,
(34:15):
a foul in the fourth. No, it's not, No, it's not.
This is the game. Bow up, d up, you know,
put your big boy pants on and get ready to
just started trying to stop this last seven point eight seconds,
three point four seconds. Play hard, but if you're an
offensive player, don't try to get bailed out. No, we're
going to be physical this last. Absolutely, yeah, yeah, no doubt. Yeah.
So yeah, I'm fifty to fifty on it, man. So
(34:37):
good stuff there, and we'll see we're going. I'm excited
about baseball. I'm sorry about my my, my Texas Rangers
bouncing back from their World Series two years ago. See,
we can get things right here, all right, Arnie, we'll
take another quick break, man, And when we come back,
we have a great audition my man Ian Rowdy Man,
one of the great young producers in this business, and
radio hits us with who You Got, Arnie. You've done
it before, We do it here every week man, and
(34:59):
be a edition all of that when we come back
for the best pregame show every weekend. Be sure to
tune in the Fox Sports Radio Countdown presented by bet MGM,
every Saturday and Sunday morning from nine am to noon
Eastern six am to nine am Pacific. We will count
you down to all the biggest games here on the
best game pregame show in the business. Tune in the
(35:20):
Countdown presented by bet MGM, every Saturday and Sunday morning
right here on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio Home, Fox Sports
Saturday v Day Brod. I get a big vanilla funny
in with my man R and E spans thinking. Just
don't forget guys. Make sure you jump on Twitter and
(35:43):
what they call it xx. I know it's another letter
letter in alphabet such we're thinking of the show man
comment will read your comments. But right now, man, we're
gonna do a little flip up. We gotta go to
our favorite game to play in another episode of Who
You Got? All right, Who You Got?
Speaker 5 (35:57):
We are a little bit crunch for time, so I'll
give the clues a little faster today, but just a
refresher for the audience and Arnie, who hasn't played this
game in a while.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
I'm thinking of an NBA player here.
Speaker 5 (36:06):
Any player in NBA history is fair game, and I'm
gonna give you guys clues to help narrow it down
and hopefully by the time I get to the last
clean year. Okay, sorry, would have been absurd anyway. First clue,
let's jump into it. This guy was a former first
round draft pick.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Yeah, right off the bat, Sam Bowie.
Speaker 5 (36:25):
No, no Arnie anything right off the Michael Jordan's I
mean no, both first round all right. He's a six
time All Star, four time All NBA selection.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
Six time All Star, four time, six time All Star,
four time Sydney Moncreef.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
No, Kevin Garnett, Nope, there's more than that.
Speaker 5 (36:48):
I think he's a two time Olympic gold medalist, but
only a one time NBA champion. I say only that's
that's impressive to be a one time still two time Olympic,
one time NBA champion.
Speaker 1 (37:01):
Paul Pierce.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
No, it's not Barkley because he didn't win an NBA championship.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
It's not Barkley. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
Next clue, he holds the record for most points scored
in an NBA All Star Game.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
I know who this is it. This is recent he
also no, no, not a bad guess.
Speaker 5 (37:20):
He also holds the record for most points scored in
a game seven of an NBA playoff series.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
Do you know what was that again?
Speaker 5 (37:28):
He also holds the record from most points scored in
a game seven of an NBA playoff.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Series, so most in an All Star game and most
in a game seven of a playoff. I know this, Tatum,
it is Tatum. Ah there you God might have music.
We don't care about beer crutch for time. We went
up in here, man, it don't matter. Who's it ain't
here football Saturday.
Speaker 5 (37:53):
Actually be good about some of these other clues. So
that sucks go to get to get to him. But
the team that drafted him actually traded back from first
to overall before taking him. So that's the Celtics. And
oh yeahj you were guessing Garnett Pierce. I was getting nervous.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
Yeah, I was right there, man. That's good.
Speaker 5 (38:07):
Though, played college basketball at Duke. He famously dunked on
Lebron as a nineteen year old rookie in the playoffs.
If you guys remember that, sure did, Sure did. And lastly,
which was supposed to give it away if he didn't
have it by here, But he plays for the Celtics
and has a son named Deuce.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Okay, yeah, oh god, that should have been the easy
one should have been the first clue. Can we really
say YA won because I feel like Arnie cheated. Well,
here's the thing. No, no, no, Mary's not here, so
we can't. He's not googling. I listen. I'm gonna tell
you right now, Mary. I thought about that when I
was driving in. I said, we got who you guys said.
But Arnie is not in there, so he can easily
(38:42):
And I'm not saying it. I'm not saying you did Arnie. Wow,
he could easily just google and then get it and
then feel good about winning.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Well, if people, if people would know me, I always
have trouble for just changing my password on the email
and I have to call tec to because I'm always
locked out.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
I'm not that quick, trust me, I'm not. I'm not quick.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Plus I got my computer on Twitter, so I can't
really get off the computer.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
I can't. Now, you got three or four computers there, man,
there's You're not gonna make me listen. You're not gonna
make me feel like you don't know how to click
on different boxes. Windows that are open at the top
of the icon of your computer screen. Stopped that when you're.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
Hooked up on it though, I'm always afraid that I'll
get disconnected.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
Yeah, Jason tATu, that was a good one.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Man.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
What made you come up with Jason Tatum? Because I
figured it was only one championship, so I was thinking
old school, and then I'm like no, no, no, when
you saying it was something new, I'm like, oh, wait,
most points in the All Star Game? What's that total
for him? Fifty Fivety? I even broke steps, right, that's
fifty Yeah, sounds about right. I think he broke steps
like fifty one, fifty two or something where he just
(39:45):
went Remember Steph was hitting like threes and turning around
and jogging back. Yeah, yeah, that sounds like Steph. One
hour down, Man, two more to go.
Speaker 5 (39:53):
V J.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
Vernerhowsky, Arnie spare Fox Sports Saturday. You're listening to Fox
Sports Radio, Yes, Sirs, always VJ. Vernon's getting big vanilla funny,
the big sports talk, Poppy in the building, Fox Foot
No not football, sorry, no more just Fox uh Fox Saturday,
No more football, man. All these spay are filling in
(40:14):
also with me, Man, great first hour today. I always remember, guys,
we are broadcasting a lot from a tire right dot
Com studios. Ty right dot com. We'll help you get
there in unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection.
Love that and over ten thousand recommendings dollars. Nobody's got
that many. Tire rd dot com the way tire buyers
should be, and this is the way sports talk radio
should be. With a big vanilla funny Vija Vernhuskey driving
(40:35):
it with my man stinking genius one Arne. You got
any tweets up you want to remat top of the hour.
We got a little time to play with her. Anything
you'll get to.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
I do want to say this was I'm watching the
Laker game. Lucas shown up this game. I know early
he has eight points in eight minutes, but this is
going to.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Be one tough team to beat. And they're doing a
pretty good job against the Nuggets.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
With Luca and Lebron and Reeves are on their game,
it is a tough three.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
Especially when Luca's hitting shots.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
It looks like it's from off court and he's hitting
three bombs and he finally you could tell his funny.
He said, Blanket, I'm just taking it and I'm gonna
shoot it, pasam Luca and he just got a rebound
took it all the way down himself, threw up a
three porter it went in. He He's just gonna make
all the difference in the world. Yeah, if you're a
Laker fan, it's gotta be exciting for u V Jay.
(41:28):
I mean, you get to go cover him, you get
to go to all the Laker games. It's uh, it's
just a whole different vibe. I never thought that the
Lakers were even in the running to get to the championship.
Now it's a whole different story. It's a game changer
now that Lucas on the team.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
I still feel that this has a long way to go,
all right, Number one, this game is twenty seven eighteen,
and I'm not gonna get hyped off a few things
that Luca does. Now, I gotta see it over it all,
Jevity Tom. But the Rockets defend the Grizzlies defense, ok C,
He's gonna probably end up Winningny. We're close to sixty wins.
They can blow you out the door by average in
(42:03):
almost above twenty at night. You know, it's to me,
it's a cute story. Oh, the Lakers can really be,
you know, contenders. It's a cute story. And we only
do it because they have Lebron And when Lucas went
the MAVs, we didn't think that they were true contenders.
We just lot that they could make them. I know
where it went. But you weren't saying that when the
playoffs started. No one was saying that before the playoffs started.
(42:24):
No one was saying that February in March, oh you
could get carry them to a champion. No, we weren't
saying that. It had that happen for us really to
be able to you know, to be able to speak
it right. It was something that we had to see.
It's like always say, like the Detroit Lions, until they
win it, I gotta see it, Like I can't pick
(42:44):
them to win it until I actually see them win it.
I felt the same way about the Kansas City Royals.
For you and I come from the George Brett days.
But they went through twenty years of being terrible and
then guess what, one year they popped the won the
World Series and then they turned around and won like seventy,
like sixty seventy games the next year.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
Right, so you're pick Clip, You're not picking Oklahoma City,
Memphis and Cleveland, then, right, are you nah.
Speaker 1 (43:05):
I'll tell you this. Out of the West in a
seven game series deep into May, the team I probably
would trust the most is the team that's either playing
the best defense or the team that's been there before.
To me, that would be either Memphis or would be
the Nuggets. Last night, Memphis got to win over Orlando
and they took John Moran to get a last second
(43:25):
bucket on the drive to get that double Lanto up
and coming team in the Eastern Conference with a stud
like Ben Caro that at a duke that they have there.
But the Nuggets are a team that's been there before.
Like I would trust them in a seven game series.
They're averaging one hundred and twenty one. They've won nine
in a row. They've nine and won in their last ten.
Like they're getting their wheels underneath them. They're not dropping
(43:48):
games to the Hornets, they're not dropping games of the Jazz.
They're not They're not having to fight against Portland on
the road, you know, late until the fourth quarter to
seal that game. Right that game the other night against Portland,
it's a four point game with under a minute to go. Portland.
Portland's terrible.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
The only problem is the Western conference is so tough.
I don't want to bore you with numbers, but I
want you, I want you to listen to this. In
the Eastern Conference, there's only six teams in the Green.
That means they average more points than they give up. Yes,
and two of the teams is barely over is barely
like less than one point a game, and the other
one's like one and a half. So there's really three
teams in the Eastern Conference Cleveland, Boston and the Knicks.
(44:27):
And the Knicks are ow and six against the top teams.
So it's it seems very fit in the Eastern Conference
compared to the Western Conference.
Speaker 1 (44:34):
It's like night and day if I'm looking at the
Eastern Conference. We can flip to that real quick. At
Cleveland just as legit to me, Cleveland is sitting at
forty six and ten right now, right they're that's a
legit basketball team. They rebound, they play defense, they move
the ball, they shared a ball, everyone everyone defends it.
They play hard, they're coach Well, it's not a flu.
(44:55):
They were this good last year and they're showing that. No,
this is who we are. We're this good again this
wh year. Boston, though once again a team that's been there.
Would you trust Boston in the Game seven in Cleveland?
I would over Game seven Eastern Conference Finals in Cleveland,
the Boston Celtics on the road in the black and
green jerseys. I'm taking Boston. I don't care what the
(45:17):
spread is.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
You're probably you're taking the Lakers over Memphis Oklahoma City.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
And no some of them, no, no, no, no no,
because they don't defend. The Lakers won't defend and not
getting and not getting Williams in that trade is gonna
really hurt their rent protection. That's really gonna hurt their
rent protection. So Jackson Hayes is a guy that can
you know, roll and get some alues to catch some
oleaves and things of that nature. But that's not sustainable,
that's not that can't be your office. This isn't lob City.
(45:42):
This isn't Flint Frosted Flate, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan
and and CP three, a young prime CP three. This
is old Lebron and Luca honestly throwing lobbs at this guy.
And you can't you can't dump the ball down to
him and tell him to turn his back to the
basket and give you a good nineties big man move
and get a bucket. He ain't never did that consistently.
I just don't think it's sustainable. And you know, like
(46:05):
I said, they got a tough road right now. As
you said, they're sitting eleven and a half out of first,
but they're also just four and a half games are
excuse me, three and a half games out of the
playing they're not. They can go on a little stretch
here where they lose some games and end up in
the playing because there's a tough schedule there. They got
a tough schedule coming up. And then if you look
at the Lakers schedule, even if you want to dive
(46:25):
into March, just their March games. I'll just read off
for you real quick. Seventeen, them Clippers, New Orleans, Nicoboker's, Boston, Brooklyn,
all right, out of those teams, Brooklyn is a guaranteed
when it's at Brooklyn, but you never know what the
Lakers on the road. Then they're on the road at Milwaukee,
then they're on the road at Denver. They're on the
road at Denver again. They get Phoenix at home, which
(46:45):
is a dumps to fire. They got the Spurs at home,
which is now a dump to fire. You know, no
one been Yama the rest of the year, even after
you make the trade for Dearian Fox Pop Uncle Pop
has announced that he won't be back this year. Then
they have Denver again, Milwaukee again, did Chicago or Land
and when Indiana at Indiana at Chagago. They have a
lot of road games in March, they're gonna be on
the road. They have a nice little road trip coming
(47:07):
up for the Oscars, so they'll be on the road
for the Oscars when the Oscars are at Crypto. So
they got some tough competition here coming up. Even if
they go fifty percent here, right and that stretched there,
that sinks them back into the play in. They can't
go fifty percent in March. Fifty they gotta They gotta
go five fifty percent, five hundred they gotta go. I
would say maybe like six fifty to seven hundred in
(47:28):
March to stay where they are now. But I'm not scheduled.
Speaker 2 (47:31):
I'm not too worried about Dallas in Minnesota making a
run at them. I think they're gonna be fine. I
think they have a better chance of moving up in
that conference than they do moving down Like I said,
Lucas only gonna get better and get more into shape.
They're gonna do learn how to play with each other
a lot better. And eventually Lebron's going to share the
ball also. It's and once they get through this six
(47:52):
game stretch, I believe it eases up much much better.
And by the way, they're playing a tough Denver team
that's one what like nine games rowing yep.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
Nine in a row, nine the last ten.
Speaker 2 (48:02):
This is no slouch out there. This is a damn
good team. And and the Lakers are almost put up
a forty spot. They may put up a forty spot
in the first quarter alone on Denver. That's amazing.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
What they need to because the last five games they
have they've started out slow. They haven't been scoring in
the first quarter, and their third quarters have been lethargic.
Also to tow in their last three games, their third
quarters they have scored under twenty points, one sixteen and
then one quarter one third quarter eighteen points. So they
need to get out to a quick start.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
But we all are better. Is there a better buzz?
It's Staples with Luca.
Speaker 1 (48:37):
That ever was with Anthony Davis.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
No, No, no, really, well you can't really tell no, no,
you could tell you no, you could tell you could
tell that that those arenas are easy to read.
Speaker 1 (48:49):
It's the same level of energy. But Anthony A. D
this is what you know what you got with ad.
You know you're gonna play defense, and you know you're
gonna rebound. You know you got a defensive player to
your candidate, and you know you got one of the
top rebounders in the league. Like you got one of
the best players on both sides of the floor with
Anthony Davis, Lucas a turnstile. We all know it, and
you don't know win he's gonna choose defen and not
the defense. And then also with the Lakers, they've gotten
(49:10):
up the big leads and I've been in, I've been there,
and I watched I watch the Jazz cut their lead down.
I watched Horne there were up sixteen points on the
Hornets and let the Hornets come back. The Hornets scored
thirty two, and the third they scored eighteen, And next
thing you know, we're in the press box looking around like, Okay,
we had a damn game. This is a game that
gets a fourteen win team that you let back into
did you let back into it? And even speaking of
(49:32):
which of this game right now, it's just like what
the sixteen to seventeen point league differs cut at to ten. Now,
they're gonna get a foul going into I don't know
if it was a be free throws. There might be
free throws going into the one minute mark in the
first quarter, but it's still early. We'll see if they
can hold leads. I've seen the Lakers get leads and
then I've seen those leads dissipate. Something else I want
to throw at you too. You were talking about these
(49:52):
other top teams in the Western Conference. Oklahoma City's young.
I always tell people young teams in the NBA don't
win championships. They can make it interesting, but young teams
just don't win championships, right. But they went through their
their their their grieving process, they went through their growing
pains over the last two years. To say, with Cleveland,
if I told you that either Cleveland or the thunder
or gonna make it to the finals, which one is
(50:14):
it gonna be?
Speaker 5 (50:14):
For you?
Speaker 1 (50:14):
I like the Thunder I like them a lot.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
You know, Plank obviously lives out there in Oklahoma City
or in Oklahoma. He follows them tremendously. They're such a
good team, they really are. Unfortunately, you know when Homegrown
got hurt, that was just such a killer. But I mean,
they're they're so deep, they're so strong. They give you
five guys, I know Cleveland gives you about six guys
can average double digits. Also, I just like SG A two.
(50:38):
I think that guy's just tremendous. The points he puts
up is unbelievable. And you know what, we don't give it.
Who's guarding him in the Laker uniform? Who's guarded and
see that's what I'm saying, who's guarded him anyway?
Speaker 1 (50:50):
Though? Who's guarded? But who's been stopping him anyway? But
we're talking about possibly the Lakers, you know, could make something. Okay,
but they even if they already were to get to
an Eastern Conference finals. Who's guarding SGA And he's blowing
by Austin Reeves, he's blowing by Luca Lebron's gonna park
down on the box.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
Well, that's why they've got such a great record, that's
why they're forty five and ten. You have to understand
the best free agent pickup was Isaiah Hartenstein. He was
so the Knicks didn't want to let him go. He
was so big in the run last year in the playoffs,
and he was healthy. Remember, Mitchell was not healthy. Mitchell
Robinson for the Knicks was not healthy.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
A matter of fact. He is still not come back
for the Knicks.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
He's just coming back now. Hartenstein was a guy a
matter of fact.
Speaker 1 (51:35):
He didn't even want to go either.
Speaker 2 (51:36):
But then he just made it two appealing in Oklahoma
City and he's a difference maker down there right now.
Speaker 1 (51:42):
But also to another trade, another piece. No one's talking
about DeAndre Hunter from the Hawks to the Calves. That's
why I think the Calves could give They could give
the East some run. But in the Game seven, not
saying they can't win it at home. I would just
put my money on the team that's done it, the
team that's been there, and the team that's already got
(52:03):
a ring. You got to prove it to me that
you can do it. I'll let you prove it to me.
I'll watch the game. I'll give you a shot. I'm
not gonna say, oh, they got no shot to win
that game. No, it's Game seven at home. If he
has any NBA player in October or September door preseason
training camp, Hey, Eastern Conference Finals and Game seven at home?
Would you take it? How many of them are gonna
(52:24):
say no, They're all they're they're all gonna say yeah,
they're all gonna take it. Speaking of this Laker game,
too big lead, I just told you they let teams
get back in six point lead at the end of
the fourth course the Nuggers cut it right down.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
One thing we have not mentioned though, when it comes
to the playoff time, there's gonna be two teams, just
two teams that are gonna be able to risk their
players that nobody know other team is gonna be able
to do, and that's Cleveland and Oklahoma City because they
will clinch the number one seed.
Speaker 1 (52:53):
Oklahoma City has like.
Speaker 2 (52:54):
The gave lead Cleveland with six. Once they clinched that
number one seed, they'll probably have like two to three
weeks to maneuver the lineup where they don't overstred it,
you know, overstress some of those starters out there. They'll
really be out of a minimum workload to finish out
the season.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
And speaking of Cleveland, it's funny because they're on a
six game win streak, nine and won their last ten.
But Boston, Boston's eight and two in their last ten
in the four game was like Boston's trying to catch them, right,
Cleveland just keeps went like Boston is not is not
screwing it up? You know, it is like Memphis, who's
six and four in their last ten, and you got
no shot at catching Oklahoma City at this point. That's
gonna be a ten game league. Give it a week,
(53:32):
give it ten days. That could be a ten game
window right there for Oklahoma City. Another team I'll throw
at you too. Very interesting team to me, email Doka,
we know what happened with him? Really faster we go
to break here and Boston. But man, can the man
just coach basketball the way he's put together this Houston
Rocket team top ten in offense, top ten in defense,
(53:53):
and rebound it. Great job he's done there. Just to
quick thoughts. When we run a break on the Houston Rockets,
I think that that's like one of the biggest surprise, right,
Like Dylan Brooks looks like a good player again, right,
I did not see that coming.
Speaker 2 (54:06):
As matter of fact, I thought they were probably gonna be,
you know, one of the worst teams in the league.
Jalb Green is probably one of the more underrated players.
Speaker 1 (54:14):
In the entire NBA.
Speaker 2 (54:16):
I mean, even though you know it's it's such a
team effort. You know why we talked about the Cleveland
has like five guys that average double digits. The Rockets
are about as deep as you get. They have like
six seven guys that will give you about.
Speaker 1 (54:28):
Ten points a game. They really do it as a team.
Speaker 2 (54:31):
It's really a and you know Van Fleet, he's getting
a lot of money, but he's certainly a calming force
on that team.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
Also, they're just good from like one to eight a
championship ring when you bring a champion and he's been there,
like he's been there, he's done it. He was on
that Kawhi Leonard team there that won a championship. He
knows what it feels like.
Speaker 2 (54:48):
They have eight guys or nine guys that give you
a close to double digits a game exactly, and that
and that and that means your team is as deep
as the Grand Canyon and the Bitch good stuff.
Speaker 1 (54:58):
Already. Man, we'll take a quick break, guys, Fox Sports
Radio here with Arnie and VJ. When we come back, though,
is their real concern for one young NBA star and
should this team start to totally tank for the next
messiah coming through college basketball. I'll tell you who that
pro is and who that college player is. All about
the more. Coming up on Fox Sports Saturday, VJ. Vernon

I know one thing that's not playing tricks on man,
that's young NBA stars man getting shut down. It just
feels like my entire lifetime this is always happening. We're
going to Fox Sports Radio, Fox Saturday, Arnie Spanyard VJ
Vernon Hus getting Big Maanilla Funny, Big Manello Sports all
poppy and here with Stinking Genius One, Alrenie, real quick man,
what we jumped to this. Let's get to some of
these tweets, because I mean, my man money line bet
(56:04):
is up in here telling us right now. Thanks to
my dudes at Big Vanilla Funny at Stinky gens one
for making the kiddos birthday party, clean up, clean up
a lot easier. Earlier convo, I want to see the
three players that I want to see gone was Parsons,
Deebo and Garrett also, but he said he wants them
all three in Green Bay. All three would make an impact.
(56:24):
So he wants Parsons, Garrett and Deebo all the time
with Green Bray, Green Bay. Excuse me, that's my man
at money Bet. We'll come to your live from the
spot tie Ret dot Com studio. By the way, if
you want to join the conversation, guys, always don't forget
hit us something man at Big Vanilla, funny at Stinking Genius,
and we'll get to your tweets throughout the show. Our name, Yes, sir,
(56:48):
I feel like in my lifetime, aren't you remember a
gentleman by the name of Sam Buie? Right of course, absolutely,
you remember a gentleman by the name of Bill Wallert r.
I p to mister will passed away exactly right, you know,
first year in the league. Second then he lead him
to a championship his second year. If I'm not mistaken right,
Portland seventy seven was Bill Walton's second Yeah, I don't
know if it was his second year, but he did
leaded Portland two. It was very early though, and then
(57:09):
he had the knees right right. Then we had a
gentleman by the name of Greg Oden who had the
foot right right. And then we had a gentleman by
the name of Joel Embiid who's had everything. That man
has missed more games than he's played in his NBA career.
We had a gentleman by the name of Blake Griffin,
you remember, missed his entire rookie season because of an injury.
(57:31):
Something is going on. It's a it's an epidemic with
big guys, explosive guys that have these injuries. And that's
not what's happened to Victor Winbayama, who was twenty five
and eleven. He was balling this year, man. And I mean,
you talk about twenty five and eleven, that's Kevin Garnett's,
that's that's pow Gasaw. You know what I'm saying, that's
(57:53):
Chris Bosh and this kid is doing it in his
second year. He has a blood clot. I'm not gonna
try to pronounce the medal term in the medical way.
This is I need no thrombosis. Yeah, yeah, yeah, God
bless you, yeah, go bless you. Yeah, you know it. Look,
it is very it's very serious blood clot See, that's
the thing. I don't need to do the technical term
because blood clot is serious enough. Like you you can,
(58:15):
you know, you can lose life to blood clots, and
that's what it is. Victor win Bayama. But you're just
just your thoughts on this, man, let me set this
up really good. Just your thoughts on this, and and
I'll switch it to what college kid they might want
to be looking at. But if you're the Spurs, how
do you even really attack this? Are you? Are you
super concerned? Are you overly concerned? Like Pops decides, Pop
(58:37):
had a strokes. Pop's gonna miss the rest of the year.
But this is your big guy, you know, he's done
for the year, your franchise player. If you're the Spurs,
how are you handle this? How are you feeling well?
I mean, you're gonna obviously handle the best hit can.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
But they did the right thing. They shut him down,
and you had to. Obviously it's a very serious condition.
The other players you mentioned, yeah, they're all big guys.
Everybody's a big guy in the NBA now, so if
you're six six six, seven, six eight, you're a big guy.
As far as I'm concerned, none of them had this.
What when my Yama is going through one or two
(59:09):
other people have had it, one came back one.
Speaker 1 (59:11):
Then it's a serious thing.
Speaker 2 (59:13):
You're gonna have to put him on blood dinners, which
is why he can't play basketball for the next three months.
But he's on like cooming in or or something like that.
That's what a blood thriinner is. And you know, you
you could bump into a desk and you know, bleed,
like right right right. It's like being a hemophiliac if
you you know, you ever see those old commercials where
if you if you just bump into something, you start
(59:34):
to bleed. So he's gonna have to be on blood dinners.
We'll see how it works in the next three months.
But this is something obviously you're gonna have to monitor.
I'm not gonna say his career is over, but you
do have to wonder how much is this going to
affect him from from here on out. I mean, obviously
he's gonna miss the rest of this year. What's gonna
happen next year? What are we looking for exactly to
get him back on on the court.
Speaker 1 (59:55):
Does this have to go away? He doesn't have to
be off blood thinners. I'm I'm not exactly. I'm assuming
this is gotta go away. It can't be well, it's
not gone all the way so we're gonna play it.
It can't be that, Like, that's malpractice. Okay, I watched
enough episodes of Ear and Gray's Anatomy to know that. Okay,
that's malpractice. We can't do that. On the flip side
of this, should they start to tank for one Cooper flag?
(01:00:19):
I mean, but it's so tough.
Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
Because they're not nearly at the bottom of having the
number one pick, doesn't mean they can't get the number
one picks.
Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
The other night.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
We've seen stranger We've seen stranger things. I forget, who
has two picks. Somebody's got Atlanta's pick. Also, I have
to look into that. Yeah, you're right, somebody does have
to honks pay. Maybe it could be San Antonio for
all I know. You know, history may repeat itself. Remember
when Tim Duncan, when Robinson went down and the Spurs tank,
(01:00:52):
they got the number one piss like sixty four games
that year they took Tim Duncan and then that's when
Popovich came out.
Speaker 1 (01:00:59):
They didn't have the worst record the Celtics did. If
you remember, Boston had the worst record and did not
get the number one pick in the chance to draft
one Donky the big Fundamental.
Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
I think it's a long shot, but it's very possible,
depending on you know, you still don't know what trades
are gonna happen and who's gonna get what. But it's
very possible that somehow they end up.
Speaker 1 (01:01:23):
With the number one pick. But I think mathematically it's
so far down, you know, well, the thing is this,
and I'm gonna say, like Shaq, the one thing you
don't want is in the city, like Utah, there's nothing
there for him, not gonna fed go clocks, go good restaurants.
Can you dig? Yeah, I listen Utah the Pelican. Now
I can see this. I could see the Pelicans get
(01:01:46):
in them and them give them the Pelicans because something's
gonna have They already they are traded Ingram. Ingram's up
in Toronto. So they broke that up, which I called
for two years ago. I said, what are you gonna do?
A brandon Ingram He's the same kind of guy that
he's always been. He hasn't really improved his game. He's
the same kind of guy. And something's gotta happen with
Zionit the guy's not available, he's not available. The best
ability is availability, and the guy's not available. Okay, so
(01:02:10):
something's gotta happen. I can, man, could you picture Utah
the number pay? I tell you this Cooper flag does
fit the aesthetics right of Utah. Listen. I went up
there and called the game up at Weaver State, and
I was surprised Provo Salt Lake City. I was surprised
at the surroundings when I went up there to call
a game when I was working over for ESPN twelve,
(01:02:31):
when I was working for another network and I was
calling college football Division one games for the Big Sky,
and I went up to call a game for Weaver State,
and I was like, Okay, Yeah, they're not lying about Utah.
They're not lying about Salt Lake City. Cooper flag from Maine.
He almost fits perfectly for the Utah Jazz who's sitting
at thirteen and forty two right now. But the Pelicans
(01:02:52):
can use if they decide to keep Zion. You don't
give them Cooper flag.
Speaker 2 (01:02:55):
I just think nobody'd be so much better with San Antonio.
Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
I mean me, I'm gonna come back. I mean, what
what they got?
Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Fox?
Speaker 3 (01:03:02):
You got?
Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
You got the Airfox right right right?
Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
So, I mean, what what a great little threesome to
start things out. And they're so young and what a
what what a great thing to have if you're a
Spurs head man man from here on out, that'd be fantasmic.
Speaker 1 (01:03:16):
Pop Pop would probably love to come back. I don't
think he's coming back. You think Pop's done?
Speaker 2 (01:03:20):
I think he's you know, he had the mild stroke
in what November. Yes, he's not coming back the rest
of this year.
Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
Enough, you know enough.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
I I know his wife passed away a couple of
years back. I think it's time for him to enjoy
whatever life he has left and move on out. You know,
it's time for somebody else to take the reins out
there in San Antonio.
Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
Well you know who else? And John enjoys the life
they have left and it's this time to take over.
Is our update?
Speaker 4 (01:03:45):
Guy?
Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
The best of the business missed the see to say,
I know right, I'm on fire today. The saga what
we got with the sports Buddy. Let's start with the
Laker game.
Speaker 4 (01:03:53):
Still leading at Denver mid second quarter fifty one to
forty two. Luka Donsich was sixteen points for LA all
in the first quarter. Denver has won nine in a row.
Philadelphia has lost six straight and is losing it home
with ten minutes left in the game. Nets lead at
Philly eighty five to seventy eight. Cameron Johnson twenty points.
Speaker 1 (01:04:11):
Today.
Speaker 4 (01:04:11):
Phoenix was a winner at Chicago one twenty one, one
point seventeen. The Bulls have lost six in a row,
and Lonzo Ball of Chicago today was one of nine
shooting from the floor. About to start Houston at Utah
and an a half an hour the late game Charlotte
at Portland, and Yes Spurs coach Greg Popovich reportedly is
not expected to return this season after a mild stroke
(01:04:33):
in November. There's college hoops on Fox TV from Madison
Square Garden tonight, early second half number three Duke looking
good sixty three thirty nine winners crush over Illinois and
Duke went a long time before it even got its
second turnover in this game. They've been sensational. Also in
(01:04:53):
progress early second half fifteenth rank. Missouri only leads at
Arkansas fifty four fifty three John Paris. Arkansas team just
four and nine in conference, while Kentucky is seven and
seven in conference and we'll be hosting number one Auburn
next Saturday. Kentucky lost at number four Alabama tonight ninety
six eighty three. Number two Florida was down six at
(01:05:15):
the half but still one at LSU seventy nine sixty five,
and Auburn is thirteen and one in the SEC, still
two games up on Florida and Alabama. Auburn beat Georgia
eighty two to seventy. Couple of top ten matchups Houston
over Iowa State, Tennessee one at Texas A and m
Oregon won its game in a comeback at number eleven
(01:05:35):
Wisconsin in overtime. DOUC seventy seven seventy three Oklahoma beat
number twenty one Mississippi State. Vanderbilt over number twenty four
Old miss Also in college hoops in the Atlantic ten
VCU twelve and two in conference after beating George Mason,
which is now twelve and two. Bevermont Catamounts got an
easy win yes UMass Lowell Vermont second place in the
(01:05:58):
America East, and they're only a game out of first actually,
and this item from Fresno State men's basketball. They are investigating,
and so is c the NCAA now the Fresno program
for potential ties to sports gambling. There are reportedly three
players potentially involved in this exhibition investigation, I say, and
(01:06:21):
even though it's not an exhibition, two have just been
pulled from the game that was played today for quote
eligibility reasons, because you see, student athletes have to refrain
from providing information to those involved in sports betting, risking
eligibility if they're betting in.
Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
There in trouble, there's a problem.
Speaker 4 (01:06:41):
There's already a guy who last played in January who
has now been removed from the Fresno State men's basketball
they're in trouble as well. One final note, Juan Soto
now with the Mets homeward and it's first at bat
of spring, the Mets beach Houston sixty two.
Speaker 1 (01:06:55):
Back to you appreciate you, Steve. Yeah, that's bad stuff
there though, man, But you know, kids one to beat
and they're eventually you are going to get calls that
the first time. This goes way back.
Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
I mean, we've had this before. I remember the days
of Arizona State and Steve Headache Smith and you know,
people try to get away with this type of stuff
for a long long time.
Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07:15):
Yeah, Well, one thing you can't get it, try to
get away from is you be sure to check in
on Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel. There's a ton of
great videos for many many of our Fox Sports Radio shows.
Just search Fox Sports Radio YouTube and you'll see a
whole bunch of video highlights from our shows. And be
sure to subscribe so you always have instant access to
(01:07:35):
our Fox Sports Radio videos on YouTube. Go there now, guys, subscribe.
We're all over there. You can go into search box too,
and whatever show you like, just put the name in
the of the hosts and then all their clips and
stuff will come up. I do it for myself all
the time, to pass it around to all my friends
and my family and my boys and my boys, boys, boys,
so they can check us all out. So right now
we do something. Here are every door basketball season. I
(01:07:58):
like to get my power five. I got my power five.
I'm gonna give on my power five. Get a little
girl wants to party all the time. Eddie Murphy style
right there. That was actually the one of the Billboard
charts at one point. I do believe they're the worst song.
That is the greatest song ever. Mary has a great
bad story about it too. So we'll get into vj's
NBA Power five. Not a lot of movement from last
(01:08:18):
week's two teams. I swapped at number five. Give me
as we just talked about those Houston Rockets. Email Dolku.
I understand what he got into in Boston. I don't
like the living people's past because people trying to live
in my past all the time, and don't let nobody
grow and move forward. Let somebody grow and move forward
in life. The man is growing to move forward in life.
And it's proven that he can coach to sport of
basketball because he's taking his team that was a dumpster fire,
(01:08:41):
I mean a complete dumpster fire. They had the number
two overall pick and they went with Jalen Green. The
number one pick went to my d Troy basket Ball Pistons,
and we took moder K Cunningham, who was just showing
himself to be a prime NBA player. But this team
right here, Fred Van Fleet, Jalen Brown, the Thompson twin
(01:09:02):
kid that came out of the G League, his twin
brothers with the Pizzess. These guys could play basketball. Number
one in offense, excuse me, top ten in offense, top
ten in defense, and top ten and rebounding. That's the
same thing that he did when he was in Boston.
Big win last night too, over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jalen
Green and Anthony Edwards. If you DVR NBA and DVR
(01:09:23):
supports like I do, go back and watch that game.
Them two boys went at it at number four. Give
me those Memphis Grizzlies. I feel like we forgot how
good this basketball team is because of all the stuff
y'all was doing. He had the gun, and then he
had the gun one, and then he had gun two.
He had the little kid, the he had to interview
with Jason with excuse me, with Jalen Rose. He had
all this stuff going on. He got suspended, then he
came back and then got hurt and then missed a
(01:09:44):
lot of time and missed the rest of the season,
and they just fell. They traded some pieces, traded Dylan
Brooks moved on from Smart. They just they really restructed
the team. Your draft two time back to back National
Player of the Year Zach eighty. Only other player to
do that the guy we mentioned on the show already
r Peter Mister Bill Walton and college basketball to do
that back to back Nate Smith Player of the Year
and he is a rent protector defense. And we forgot
(01:10:06):
how nice John Moran is. But you talk about a
deep squad, this squad is super deep. They can run
about ten guys out there all day long. They rebound well,
they play basket, they rebound well. They will defend and
lock you up. Also, this is another team with a
bunch of names. You talk about John Moran, Desmond Bane
and even guys like a Gigi Jackson, Jalen Jackson Junior. Like,
(01:10:29):
these guys can get out there to this real quick.
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
Do you take job Moran? Buts he's not gonna be
back with Memphis next year?
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
Oh man, I don't know. I don't know about that
with John Moran as far as where he's gonna be
next year, and he's not gonna be with them, Would
you go after him though?
Speaker 5 (01:10:42):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:10:42):
Absolutely, I go out. He's a bona five baller, He's
a bono, He's a bona fire baller. And a bona
fid superstar. He knows how to get the ball where
it needs to be. Twenty points to seven boards and
seven assists a game is what you want from him.
But you know there's certain nights that he can go
give you thirty five, give you forty G fifty burger.
He can do that, but he is playing within his system.
I just think because of all the office court stuff
he was going through, we just forgot how good this
(01:11:04):
basketball team is. And Vj's power five. I'm throwing them
at number four, number three, eight. This is real easy
for me. It's a defending NBA champion. It's the Boston Celtics.
Darryl Cruz control right now. I always talk about a
team that just kind of knows what to do, when
to do it, and how to do it. And this
is the Boss of Celtics. Why is because they've been
here before. They've been to finals. They were up to
to one on the Steph Curry Golden State Warriors and
(01:11:25):
blew that one. They've been to a countless NBA conference
fight Eastern Conference Finals, and then they've got to the
finals and they finally got over the hump and to
win that game. But what Tatum is doing, what Jalen
Brown is doing. Horford comes back this year, You got
go Porzingis is playing well. Derek White Prichard like, this
team is really lowed. Great job that a young basketball
coach is doing. They're sitting in the third seed right
(01:11:46):
now in the What Eastern Conference. They're not panicking right
now because they know that when it comes down to it,
they're gonna be ready to play ball. Eight gamescuse me?
Six games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers. As I mentioned earlier
show's scuse me number two shaars I mentioned earlier in
the show four Inner Road. They are at eight and
two in their last ten at number two. This is
a toss up from last week. Last week I got
number one. I dropped in this week because I did
(01:12:07):
watch some Cleveland Cavalier games this weekend. They kind of
rolls above them. But give me Okac with the number
two spot right now in my power five, and that's
because the West is so loaded. They have one turn ankle.
It reminds me of the Brooklyn Nets team the year
that the Milwaukee Bucks won the championship. They're up two
to oh on who the Milwaukee Bucks those Brooklyn Nets.
(01:12:28):
Remember Kyrie, Irvin, James Harden and Kevin Durant. They're up two. Oh,
they're kicking their ass. In Game three, what happens Kyrie
and steps Kyrie steps on Giannis's foot and the serious flips.
The series is over and if Kevin Durant wears a
half size shorter, it's not a time game. In Game seven,
they win the game instead of forcing the overtime, which
(01:12:49):
they lost in overtime. But they kind of remind me
of that team. OKC loses one guy, they could fall
to some of these other power teams. Of course, the Nuggets.
People are infatuated with the maybe Houston could do something.
I'm really not a big believer on the Clippers. I
think they're playing okay, But Memphis can sneak up and
beat a team like that if they're missing one of
their big pieces. And Number one for me this week
(01:13:10):
are the Cleveland Cavaliers. When I look at this team,
it's almost like why you like them?
Speaker 5 (01:13:15):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
They don't have any huge name. We know who's Spider
Donovan Mitchell is, But if you ever really looked at
Donovan Mitchell as a top guy in this league, no,
most people have it twenty four points thirty one minutes
to night. But you talk about Darius Garland, you talk
about Evan Mobley, you talking about DeAndre Hunter, the big
Trey move from the Hawks. I thought the Hawks were
gonna move Trey Young, and I thought they should have
(01:13:35):
moved on for Trey Young, because when they got McMillan fired,
I said, right then and there, this team's gonna go
backwards and they're gonna be crying for Trey Young to
get out of there because he was one of the
leading voices that Nate mcmiller was too tough on them,
and they start to clean house. They gave him DeAndre Hunter,
he's also there. And then Jared Allen, that big horse
in the middle there. His thirteen points to ten rebounds
(01:13:57):
is solid. Every single night they defend. They played good
team basketball. They facilitate the ball. You know, you got
a guy like Spider and Garlic that you could just
get the ball to and say, old Doug Collins when
Jordan hit the shot off, Elo, get the ball those guys.
Everybody else get to bleeve out of the way. They
got those two guys, and the Eastern Conference, I think
the only team standing in their way is the Celtics.
The Nickabocas are playing well. I get it, but do
(01:14:19):
you really trust them? Do you really trust Cat? Do
you really trust that arrow?
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
And six against their own against Cleveland, against the best
team Okahoma, absolutely against the three other best teams in
the league.
Speaker 1 (01:14:29):
They haven't beaten him yet. So Rockets five, Grizzlies four,
Boston defendited championships three. Okay, see in Cleveland, I swapped
this week at two and number one the Cleveland Cavaliers,
And that is Uncle Vj's power five. Arnie, your thoughts go,
we were.
Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
Very close to the same. I had Oklahoma City Cleveland.
You had it the other way around, Cleveland, Ocloma City.
We were right on three and four. You at Boston Memphis.
I had Boston Memphis, and we're really different.
Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
Number five. You had the Rockets. I had Denver. So
that was the only difference there. All right, well there
it is my power five right there. Will take a
quick break when we Arenie and not come back. We're
gonna get into some facial hair what facial hair stuff?
On sports talk radio? What are we doing here? VJ
and Arnie? Fox Sports Saturday, Fox Sports Radio. If you
want to play the Yankees gives a little bit want
(01:15:17):
some facial hair, just a little bit. If you play
for the Yankees, you now can have more than a
little bit, you know what I'm saying. Fifty cent said
a little bit, the Yankee said, No, long as it's groomed,
you can have as much as you want. Come to
your living the tie right dot com studio. By the way,
don't forget to give us your two cents on Twitter
or ex whatever you call it these days at big
(01:15:37):
Vanilla Funny at Stinking Genius one for Arnie Sparing and
me VJ. Verner has get a big vanilla funny, big
vanilla sports talk poppy so news in Major League Baseball
that shock the world. Yes, especially for our guy here
Rich from Richard Covino A Covino rich on our show
or a great station here Fox Sports Radio, big time
(01:15:58):
Yankee fan. Yankee fans get to rejoice. Players now for
the New York Yang gays may have a little bit
a a facial hair, or you just get your beard
just fresh like mine is always always feel in in
and lined up looking luxurious. Just come on, not like
you don't see my pictures homeboy on social media. My
(01:16:19):
Beard is luxurious. I work hard on this. This is
called Raizelin. But the Yankees are lighting up a little bit,
which I always thought was a dumb rule. I always
thought that there was a dumb rule for the Evil Empire.
You're the Evil Empire, You're the Pinstripes twenty six, twenty
seven World Series Championships, Babe Ruth, Yogi Bearra the Captain
(01:16:41):
Derek Gitah Like, I mean, just star after star after star,
and I can't hold up. I get all the girls
in New York. I get invited to all the parties
in New York. I get invited to all the after
parties in New York. I get invite to all the
after after parties in New York, and then you know
the bars I'm talking about. I get invites, all the
red carpet stuff, I get to go to the met Gala.
I can't hand me a little goat tee. I can't
(01:17:02):
rock me a little chintz strap. I can't grow me
a little stashed. Nah. That's not what George Star sor
RP to the balls. That's not what he was saying.
But now a little bit of facial hair, Arnie, you
got some facial hair.
Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
No, no, no, it was very It's a very archaic
rule anyway to begin with. I know the Yankees and
the Reds were the last two teams to have that,
and the Reds got rid of there. It's like twenty
something years ago.
Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
Oh, I didn't know the Reds had that.
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
Yeah, the Reds had it too, I think, yeah, I
think more shots, but they decided to get rid of it.
That left the New York Yankees. I think they just
did it and stood under it because the principal look
just my perspective anyway, I'm glad they're getting rid of it.
Speaker 5 (01:17:43):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
I don't want the guys to be like Duck Dynasty
where they have the you know, the long beards or
something like that.
Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
There's Dodger Dodger guys out here, got I know.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
Look, I'm a good looking guy, so I like to
be cleep shaven. I like, you know me, uh, you
know some of the other George. We want to be
queen shaven. I let the guys with the beards and
the mustache for the ugly people that want to cover.
Speaker 1 (01:18:08):
So no offense. But if you want to cover your face,
like you know, like like forest like goes it first.
Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
Up when he was running all those miles. Knock yourself
out of you if I.
Speaker 1 (01:18:21):
Know, I know you would be.
Speaker 2 (01:18:25):
But I I'm glad they got rid of it. It
should be up to each person. But I wouldn't want
a long beard mustache.
Speaker 1 (01:18:31):
During the summer months and all that. I just think
that it's listen, man, I'm a grown ass man. I
understand you're paying me, but this is not an office.
This is not corporate. It's corporate America maybe for you
sitting up in that box. But I'm an athlete. I'm
a player. I you know, I doesn't matter what's on
my face and my bat in three oh four? Have
(01:18:52):
I not hit forty seven home runs? Have I not
hit one hundred and twenty seven rbs?
Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
For you?
Speaker 1 (01:18:56):
And it's about what's on my face? Like and listen,
I still think the Yankees are stupid for not having
names on the back of the jerseys. I still can't
stand that. I still think that that's I still think
that that's like, no cave man, You're like, really, no names?
What are we Penn State? No emblem on the helmet,
no names on the back of the jerseys. I don't
get that. And I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (01:19:16):
But there's one funny figures that you brought up Bill Walton.
Earlier today, Bill Walton went to John Wood and said,
you can't make me cut my hair. I'm not gonna
do what you can't. And John Woods said, you're right,
I can't make you cut your hair, but I can't
decide who's going to play, and the next day cut
his hair.
Speaker 1 (01:19:33):
I know that he got tricked. I know, but he
got tricked into that because because Wooden was not gonna
sit him. No, Wooden was not gonna sit him. He
was the man with the man. He was not gonna
sit them. So he got, yeah, he got, he got
shenan again and bamboosing and this just really quick, man,
we're up because god ten quoy seconds, real fast. Does
this help free agency? Yes or no?
Speaker 5 (01:19:52):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:19:52):
I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
I don't think anybody decided they're working to go there's
a facial hair anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:19:56):
Oh okay, Yeah, you know, I'm with you. I'm just like,
h maybe it mattered, and maybe it did. I'm going listen,
I'm going whoever cut in the check man? Two hours down,
one hour ago. VJ. Vernon Husky Arnie Fox Sports Radio
you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio coming to you live, man,
Fox Football Saturday. Not football anymore, just Fox Saturday Radio
(01:20:18):
Arnie spay or VJ Vernon Husky. Uh. And for Mari
wiss As the overhead speaker might have messed out one up,
Got that right. It's all good though. Man. We work
all over the place around here. Man, what do you
what do you look.
Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
Forward to covering now that the football's done? You do
you enjoy go to the Dodger games? Do you still
like the Laker games?
Speaker 3 (01:20:35):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:20:35):
Go to the King games too?
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:20:37):
Yeah, yeah, Kings, Kings, Lakers and Clippers from me right now,
that's the best. And in the course when I can
get over to USC to see my girl jug Watkins regally, absolutely,
you gotta take advantage that in the city like this,
if you get credential to go watch the best women's
college basketball between her and Page Beckers from from Yukon.
Didn't you do that like you're gonna be able to say, oh, yeah,
well Juju before she went to the w NBA. Yeah,
(01:20:58):
I was at that game that night when she dropped
four drop Yeah, I mean in my Yeah, that's what
you want to say, man, so we're broadcast a lot
from tire right dot com, Studo tireight dot com, well
help you get there and on mats selection fast free
ship and free road has a protection over ten thousand
recommended as dollars. Tire rat dot com the way tire
buying should be and this is the way sports talk
(01:21:19):
radio should be. VJ. Vernon Husky, the Big Vanilla, Funny
big Man Sportswall Poppy is always on Saturday. And my
man Arnie Spayers speaking stinking genius one is filling in Arnie.
We weren't gonna talk four Nations face off, but we
did a lot of that Thursday night. There was a
topic that we didn't get a chance to get to
that we wanted to get to because there was this
game a couple of weeks played. I don't know, one
(01:21:40):
hundred and twenty three million people watched it, something called
the They et a lot of wings and pizza. Oh
the Super Bowl, Yeah that thing. There's this football game
played and there was this guy in it. Dad was
you know people talking about could be the goat by
the name of Patrick Mahomes and played possibly one of
the worst games in his career. I don't care what
the numbers look like at the end two fifty seven.
I believe it was three touchdowns to I'm too xavier Worthy, Exaber.
(01:22:02):
Thank you for giving me the over in the fifty
one and a half, My man, I appreciate you. But
there's this discussion that's out now after they lost this game.
Where is he? And I'm a guy that likes to
kind of get going on list. I like a list.
I know some people that I don't do list sports talk. Okay, fine,
the fans love it. Anytime you start putting a list together,
people turn the radio up, they lean up off the sofa,
(01:22:23):
they tell everyone in the car to they want to
hear where certain guys are plays. We do enough NBA
goal list, but I've never really heard anybody do a
top quarterback all time list. And I thought this was
appropriate because of what we just had coming off the
Super Bowl. So I got ten here, I know you
got ten. Let's go ten through six. I'll give you
(01:22:45):
the floor first. I'll go ten through six and just
let me know what you got. I want to see
where we match up ten through six. And a matter
of fact, there was one person that well, I'll tell
you when I get to it. I got to put
in the top ten, but I know other deserve to
be in the top ten. He's certainly obviously accomplished in
San Francisco. So I went with Steve Young at number ten.
Number nine, I went with Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (01:23:08):
I know he's a Hall of Famer. I didn't think
he was a top ten of all time. Then I
looked at all the other names. I looked at a
lot of lists the last couple of days. We were
gonna do this on Thursday, and I know my list
is a lot wackier than some of the others out there,
but I couldn't keep him out of my top ten.
I'm just like he's got His numbers are too good,
(01:23:30):
and it's not just strictly on Super Bowls or anything
like that. His overall numbers are good. So I have
Rogers at number nine. I've got Brett Favre at number eight. Okay,
the only person I had trouble putting at number seven
because we do we are fans of his. He has
no Super Bowls. Dan Marino, Yeah, but he's he's second
(01:23:50):
to none.
Speaker 1 (01:23:51):
I'm about to say, if you put the tape on
the numbers and just put the tape on. Damn the numbers.
Put the tape on. The man is the best piers
passer up the foot ball we've ever seen, probably besides
two other guys that are on my list. But I'll
say that probably if you beck, you're probably probably ranked
too high for somebody that doesn't have a Super Bowl.
But but if that's the way thing you you push,
you would push him out of the top ten, because.
Speaker 2 (01:24:13):
We can't do that, all right, right, So I at
least I have him in the top ten. He probably
should have been more like nine or ten, but I
have him been number seven to number six, up with
John Elway.
Speaker 1 (01:24:22):
A lot of people seem to have him in there
one through five.
Speaker 2 (01:24:25):
Yet remember he only won the too late when he
ended up getting himself for running back. But that doesn't
really make much of a difference. I have John that
Way at number six.
Speaker 1 (01:24:33):
Yeah. I don't like that narrative. I mean, you need
you need eleven guys on offense, eleven guys on defense, right,
eleven guys on special team, Countless coaches, assistant coaches, scouts, analysts, training,
like you need a lot of people to win a
damn super Bowl. That's unfair. To John Elway because he
was taking him to Super Bowls by himself. If you
want to say like that three times got molly wopped
(01:24:53):
three times, but he was going and the man played
in five of him. Let's not let's not forget that
the man played in five Super Bowl Sunday. They just
ran into Juggernaut top seams. So you had Young discount,
double check Brett Dan Dan the touchdown man, and John
Elway not bad my ten at number ten. Give me
a man that really got kind of screwed out of
being able to come to the NFL right out of college,
(01:25:15):
winning the Pac ten at that time and then winning
the Rose wolver and Michigan team had to go to
the Canadian League and win five straight Great Cups before
he was even considered to be an NFL quarterback. That's one,
mister Warren Moon. If you put up his stats from
the Canadian League in the NFL, the only guy he's
not touching is is Tom Brady. He's touching everybody else
(01:25:36):
in the numbers, in the yards. And let's not forget
we know what the word running shoot is because of
Warren Moon. You talk about Webster Slarter, Drew Hill, Ernest Gibbings,
Mike Rogier, that Houston oiler team by coach by Jerry Glanville.
If you remember those teams, man, oh my goodness, they
would light it up. The only bad mark is that
he's the guy that left Frank right bring the Buffalo
(01:25:58):
Bills back in the wild our game on the road up.
I think it was what thirty four to seven or
something thirty forty three, something like that, the half and
Frank Wright and then the huge comeback filling in for
Jim Kelly Injrew Jim Kelly.
Speaker 2 (01:26:11):
Just just one thing right here. You know, I was
looking at a couple of other lists while you're doing yours.
They have Warren Moon at number twenty two. That goes
to show you that the spar and Spirit team between
the top ten. Because a lot of people don't like
to put his Canadian stats in there, but I think
you well.
Speaker 1 (01:26:25):
Right now, just in the NFL stats, he's sixteenth overall
in touchdown So I don't know how he's all the
way down to twenty two. Number nine. Give me Drew Brees.
Drew Brees has the one ring. It's the only Super
Bowl he got too. I always thought the cake was
kind of cut for him already. He didn't have to
come in to blow out the candles or anything like that.
They the block punt really set them up in that
Sunday Monday night game after Katrina. He was dope. He
(01:26:46):
was great, He was good. He's in my top ten.
He has a ring. He had all a bunch of numbers,
but having Sean Payne all that time and having basically
almost the same weapons for a lot of that time,
running backs like Duce mccallister's receivers like Joe Horn really
helped him out. And numbers seven a guy that I
don't know saw your Listen? What one of your ten
through six? Johnny UNITEDS, can we not chill? We number eight, No, No, No,
number seven too so far? I'm sorry, Nmber eight, Number eight,
(01:27:10):
I'm sorry, im sorry. Number eight. You absolutely right, Johnny UNITEDS.
Can we start with just putting guys, you know, just
from today's game on the list. This man like just
go back once again, put the tape on. Remember the
greatest game played the New York Giants, the New York
Football Giants against the Indianapolis Coach. That game, Johnny United's
man was just on fire. He was one of the
best peers passers this league has ever seen. There's a
(01:27:32):
reason why his statue is outside of the Baltimore Ravens Stadium.
Right now, ladies and gentlemen, and this is the guy
that was playing in the sixties and seventies. We got
to get pros to the OG's man. I always trying
to make sure Og makes my list. I don't try
to make it all the guys from today. The Mox
Rushmore is all for the guys for today. At number seven,
I got Brett Fahr Man. Brett Fahr was a gun
slinger and when he retired, he led in everything. He
led in yards, touchdowns, interceptions, completion just like he was
(01:27:55):
the man whether you liked him or not, just put
the tape on. And he also had to do it
with a slew of different supporting cast. And also for
me at number six, I slid them on a spot
higher than you. I like him in my top five,
but you hear my top five, you'll understand why Damn
Marino does not have the ring. We get it. But
tell me, whatever defense he ever had and whatever running
game he ever had, he never had a thousand yard
(01:28:16):
rush until he got Kareem abdu Jabard running back from UCLA.
That rush I believe for like a thousand and two
yards he just clipped a thousand yard mark. Or if
I'm not mistaken, I might have been like nine to
ninety eight. I think he had a loss, like a
big loss on like his last carry. So it's either
right over a thousand or right one thousand. Either way.
You and I know we grew up watching Marino having
to win thirty seven to thirty five a lot of
Sundays in his career. Never had a defense. When my
(01:28:38):
ten went Moon, Breeze, United's Brett and Marino, any beef with.
Speaker 2 (01:28:43):
That, No, I would have Breeze just right outside my
top ten. So I agree with you there. Same thing
with Johnny Uniteds and Ward Moon. So I mean we're
not far off on that. We have been readoing far
there my top five. Now I'm coming into number five,
and some people don't even have this guy in their
top fifteen, which I find ridiculus us.
Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
And this is not solely on numbers, but when.
Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
You win as many Super Bowls as this guy has,
you got to put him in your top five. Terry Bradshaw,
I put him in number five. Do you think that's
too high?
Speaker 1 (01:29:11):
I know that's too high for me. I'm not mad
at it. I'm not mad at it. I'm not going
to jump the broom. But that's not mad at it.
That's high.
Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Yeah, but me, Joe Green, you know Hall of Fame,
you know Hall of famers, one after another, number four.
I think it's pretty simple from here on out. I
put Paydon Manning in number four. I couldn't put him
any higher. And then one through three I put Mahomes three,
(01:29:42):
Montana two, and Brady one because I did also want
to go ahead and give a little respect to the
older generation, so I kind of separated Brady and Mahomes
and put Montana in the middle. I wouldn't have a
big beef if you had Brady, Mahomes Den Montana. But
I went Brady, Montana and Mahomes one, two and three
filed by Manning.
Speaker 1 (01:30:01):
And then Terry bradshot number five. Wow, Okay, the Bradshaw
one who's like I said, I'm not mad at it,
but it does take me back that you got him
that high. You can't blame. You can't blame for being
on a great team. Well you can't, but he also
didn't he didn't have their numbers though. That would be
my super Bowl. That's right. With some of these other
guys you listed got super Bowl too. You got Steve's
(01:30:23):
got as much as him. Hey, Ron, No, no, nobody
does other than what other than Montana, Montana and Brady.
That's it. So we're doing that ringwise. Okay, that's fine.
I'm not, like I said, I'm not gonna jump the
brooin with it, but I'm not mad at it. Number
five with me with John Elway, I had him in
my top five. Like I said, the man played in
five super Bowls. He pretty much carried teams the five
super Bowls. He got the one super Bowl on something
(01:30:43):
that we know, and that's the drive. He takes the
team from the one yard line because Ernest Binder can't
hold on to the damn football. Could hold it to
the football for the Redskins, either could hold it to
the football for the Cleveland Browns. He fumbles, they get
the ball. You don't think he's driving ninety nine yards?
But what is John that way he do? He drives
ninety nine yards to win that game and send his
team on to a super Bowl. And then yeah, he
had Terrell Davis, but he was still throwing the Shannon
(01:31:05):
Sharper and McCaffrey and those guys too. Man, they started
a good deal. They still win, and he still remembered
for being that old, thirty seven year old man scrambling
out to the right and leaping and getting helicopter. You
can see the wrinkles on his face that are starting
to form in that game, the crows feet in his eyes.
He was old at that point. Man. He was an
old guy and also too one of the top, if
(01:31:25):
not the top prospects to ever come out of college
coming into the NFL. A lot of you know, the
big time scouts, the ojis will tell you it was
John Elway at number four. I got Pat Mahomes. I
had Mahomes at three before the Super Bowl. But and
and I'm not taking him out of the best quarterback today.
Today he is still the best quarterback on the planet.
There's nobody close. But that game has to be included
(01:31:48):
in the list. When we start talking about legacy, we
have to count that game. He's been out played in
three Super Bowls, guys, Let's just get real. He won
one of them and lost two. Jalen Hurts out played
them both times. I know Jalen Hurts lost the first
one and had the fumble pick scoop and score by
Nick Bowden in the second quarter at the note minute mark.
That doesn't matter. He still played a great game. Hell,
(01:32:09):
he threw it in the central two weeks going in
the Super Bowl and still out played him. And then
Tom Brady also outplayed them. This is the man that's
been outplayed against his competition just because the team won
two of those games. I still think that that has
to be part of the narrative. Number three. I have
Payton Manning at number three because you just can't. Once again,
I'm putting the tape on you talk about a man
that would just dissect defenses. He just knew what you
(01:32:31):
were doing before you can even get positioned to do it.
Played in three Super Bowls one two of them, and
he should have won the third one. Now the third
one is on him. He throws the pick six to
Porter against the Saints that gives Breese his Super Bowl.
So if man and None throw that pick, Breeze isn't
in his list because Breeze didn't get the Super Bowl.
Manning has three instead of just two. But once again,
(01:32:52):
just put the tape on. Man, the guy. Listen to
the stories of the defensive backs and the defensive coordinators
had to play this man. They tell you how much
they almost crapped their pants on this would line up
and it's the last second drive. Oh you know you
got Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne or Brandon Stokely or
you can hand to Joseph Die Edrin James. I mean
that teams with those teams were loaded to Tony Dungee
in the defense. But Peyton Mann and let's not let's
(01:33:12):
not front man. The man made the thing go. Then,
of course number two for me Joe Montana four to
zero in the Super Bowls eleven touchdowns, zero interceptions. I mean,
the man pretty much played in the Conference championshi game
half his career. Like half his career, he was getting
to the NFC Championship game. And he was just Joe
cool for a reason. And in the Super Bowl when
he needed the most, he didn't drive his team and
set him up for a field goal. He drove his
(01:33:32):
team and found John Taylor on the deep slant inside
the back of the end zone against the Cincinnati Bengals
with John Candy and Jim Belushi standing on the sideline
watching him play, and that Super Bowl, so I got
him there. And then of course number one Thomas the
Goats Brady, ten super Bowls, seven rings. You want to
talk about some numbers, just real fast. Eighty nine thousand
(01:33:52):
passing yards, six hundred and forty nine touchdowns, only two
hundred twelve interceptions, career sixty four percent, fifteen Pro Bowls,
three timeo prol, three time MVP, five times Super Bowl MVP.
How can mahomes be to go? This man's got more
Super Bowl MVPs than you got regular season MVPs. Two
top Player of the Year, and the quarterback record of
(01:34:13):
two fifty one and eighty two, and the man never
tied the game. He's number one in passing yards, number
one in completions, number one in touchdowns number one, and
Super Bowls number one, the Super Bowl games, number nine
in passes pass yards per pass and his postseason record
is a record of a forty eight games, thirty five
and thirteen. Nobody's catching this man unless you catch the seven,
(01:34:34):
unless you catch the numbers. Point bay playery, end the story.
That's Rdy and Knight's top ten right there. Quarterbacks of
all time. You tell me another show that could deliver
it to all that fast in fifteen minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:34:44):
Give a little honorable measure to like the Slean semi
bos of the world, the court Yards.
Speaker 1 (01:34:50):
Yeah, Sammy Bardue, we could go, we could go to Rogers.
Speaker 2 (01:34:54):
Callback there's some quarterbacks Shreyigman might deserve a top.
Speaker 1 (01:34:57):
Eight three rings three rings feed in the Super Bowls.
But we're gonna all put on the offensive line and
then at Smith and j Nova checking Moose Johnson and
Alvin Harper and Michael Irvin and then Jimmie Johnson built
that defense as if that you know, this guy wasn't
the number one recruit coming out of high school, wasn't
the number one overall draft pick coming out of college
after searching from Oklahoma to UCLA, Like we miss all
that in the narrative. I like to do my sports
(01:35:19):
talk a little different. I know some people want some
like hardcore. Fat Man just put the tape on when
they needed him to make a throw. Just showed me
the time that he didn't do it in the biggest
moments of his career. And then we can close the doorna.
So that's already n's top top ten, not Top fifteen,
our top ten. Wow, our top ten quarterbacks of all time.
Coming off the Super Bowl, we'll take a quick break.
When we come back, we'll do it live update. We'll
(01:35:40):
check in on the Lakers and Nuggets and something about
a superstar in a mid market, low market NBA city
that I called two years ago they would want to happen.
There are we there yet? I think we are? VJ

Speaker 1 (01:36:10):
I tell you man this NBA stars telling this team
they better show him what they got or he might
want to be out of town. Fox Saturday Arnie spayor
VJ Ernhouse. He comes to you live from the tire
Rat dot com studios. By the way, you get to
what it'saw on Twitter and tweet the show at the
Big Vanilla Funny at Stick of Jeens. There's one I
want to read because I just want to clear something up,
because I never want nothing I said to be misconscruted.
But you got people that want to throw things out
(01:36:31):
there and they wanted to. Just so, I'll give you
some attention at mister happy for Life seven, let me
explain something to you. I'm not gonna use the word
that you used here, but you misconscruted totally took wrong
with I was saying. I'm gonna give you two examples
where people said the exact same thing for these two
other players, and they know what I meant. When y'all
mean was drafted by Houston, you know what, people in
the professional world said, that fits. There's a huge Chinese
community there for him. He fits what's there. He'll be
(01:36:54):
comfortable there. Alice Kovecchkin got drafted by the Washington Capitals.
I'm from the DMV. There's a huge Russian community there.
It fits. He has people, he has restaurants, places he
can go, he has things he can do. Cooper Flag
is from Maine, Sir and Salt Lake, San Utah. It's
almost the same type of place. That's the aesthetic I'm
talking about. He will fit. It's a slow town, it's
not a big city. It's cold. It fits for him there.
(01:37:16):
When Gordon Haywood went there, people say, yeah, that's a
good look. That fits for him being where he was
coming from with Butler. So please don't don't don't tweet
me words like that. Man, That's not what it's about.
Just maybe ask a question and I'll explain it to you.
It's okay for certain players to fit where they're going. Shit,
Deer Sanders wants to go where to a big market?
Why he fits? It fits for him to be somewhere big.
Why he's gonna be loud, he's gonna be flash, he's
(01:37:38):
gonna be That's got nothing to do with what you're
talking about here, Man, Ask the question before you start assuming.
I always want to make sure that people don't misconscrew
what I'm saying and understand that there are real things
in sports and people do fit. And certain Luca people were.
People were surprised about Luca's decision. I mean, Luca's a problem.
Reaction is because people thought La might be a little
bit too much. Dallas is not La. It might have
(01:38:00):
been a little too much for him. So yeah, man,
I respect you. Listen to the show. We appreciate you, man,
But when people tweet stuff like that, I'm not gonna
use the word you use, but I will give you
some attention, since you obviously wanted some Arnie, anyone you'll read.
Speaker 2 (01:38:13):
No, I saw that one also, and you're right because
sometimes you'll say there's a large Asian population like Los
Angeles or Seattle, and you know it, you know with
Sho Heo Tai or something so right, good fit for.
Speaker 1 (01:38:27):
That, it's a good fifth, it's a good fit for
Why would you want to be somewhere where there aren't
people like him there? That doesn't No one goes where
there's where they're not gonna be comfortable, right, No one
wants to go where they're not gonna be comfortable. You
want to go somewhere where there is gonna be some
familiarity around you. That's what I was saying, and that's
what I miss. Smart people know that. I gotta read
this one, Arnie. What do you think about this? We
got a at NK design sense. Eli Mannon should be
(01:38:49):
a top five quarterback at least go blue. She feels
he took down Brady twice and took down the undefeated
Patriots team. You want to line her up?
Speaker 3 (01:38:59):
Man?
Speaker 2 (01:39:00):
Do you want me to do the Obviously shdn't, but
I did think he was borderline maybe first ballot Hall
of Famer. I'm okay that he didn't get in, but
it does bother me when somebody's like, well, he should
be a Hall of Famer, just not first ballot.
Speaker 1 (01:39:12):
If you're a Hall of Famer, you're a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (01:39:14):
He's not top ten, but I would think he'd be
borderline top twenty five to that effect.
Speaker 1 (01:39:20):
U yeah, I listen. I can fight for him to
get the top fifteen. I can fight for Eli to
get the top fifteen. His number, well, his number supported, right,
his number supported. The man was always he was a
two super Bowl and not only that.
Speaker 2 (01:39:32):
She does make a good point here, Monster super Bowl,
Monster super Bowls.
Speaker 1 (01:39:36):
And led the game winning drives both times, one touchdown
past the plexico and then the other one to get
down the field the super Mario Mannaham the former Michigan
Wolverine superstar and so and he does have two super
Bowl wins against the goat, against the goat coaches most
people's mind, and against the goat quarterback. Right, So, I
(01:39:57):
top five. I think that's a fans hop bad. I
think that's a man talking. But I can argue him.
They slot him in the top fifteen. Look how bad
the Giants have been for the most since they they
haven't since they haven't had him. Yeah, just go look
at the Giants without Eli, and just tell me what
you have and what you say. I mean, Eli was
a guy who's like, listen, just get us to the playoffs?
Speaker 3 (01:40:15):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:40:15):
Didn't he win both Thompson the wild card position, if
I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure about that.
Speaker 2 (01:40:19):
I don't know if it was the wild card, but
it was still great running because you're already beat the goat,
and when you do something like that, you certainly have attention.
I understand why he didn't get in first stout, but
I think I would have put him in first.
Speaker 1 (01:40:30):
I don't know about Fred. My thing is, if you're
a Hall of Fame, I'm with you, Hall of Fame
on Hall of Fame. But remember also the year they
beat the undefeated Patriots, who do you knock off an
the NFC Championship game? Another Hall of Fame Top ten
great Brett favre See, Like even his roads to the
Super Bowls, he was knocking off dude, all right, so
show me what you got. I think that's what Giannis
is asking the Milwaukee Bucks also to love looking at
(01:40:51):
Lakers of ninety six eighty seven, eleven point four left
in the third quarter. They're holding on to a nine
point league. This is impressive. They've held it for the
most part.
Speaker 2 (01:40:59):
They've been needing this game from start to finish to
a team that's what nine in a row on the road.
Speaker 1 (01:41:05):
It's a new Laker team.
Speaker 2 (01:41:06):
They're playing with their second game with Lebron and Luca,
and they look tremendous. Hey, you better sit up and
take notice if you're not a Laker fan out there.
Speaker 1 (01:41:15):
Yeah, well, I mean, like I said, it's one game
I'll hold I'll hold a horn on that man. Also too,
we'll get into this player in a second. In Milwaukee,
we're talking about Giannis. Of course, I think he wants
to show them what they got and what I predicted.
But before we get to that, I want to get
to the greatest update guy in the business right now,
if we fill us on on some more sports in
college basketball going on? Steve, you here, what are you
(01:41:36):
saying about the Lakers? Are are are you? Are you
buying it?
Speaker 4 (01:41:39):
It's an impressive game tonight, right, sustainable We'll see right.
I've love Vanderbilt's defense off the bench and let's just
say they're gonna need a whole lot more of that.
Speaker 1 (01:41:54):
The times for the rest of the season absolutely can't
be one night. It's gotta They don't defend.
Speaker 4 (01:41:58):
Well, man, they are wow, they are not consistent.
Speaker 1 (01:42:03):
And they don't rebound going to the rebounds. They deserve
to be in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:42:07):
But you know, it's just calmed down. Just because they
have famous players doesn't mean they're the best team.
Speaker 1 (01:42:13):
Steve, I appreciate you.
Speaker 4 (01:42:14):
They have been leading throughout tonight against a Denver team
that's won or with you the nuggets of what in
a row to say, Oh, I guess.
Speaker 1 (01:42:23):
So therefore, time watching, don't feed it. It don't feed
it to Steve. Game against Brady, I guess it makes.
Speaker 2 (01:42:30):
Him the number one quarter Wow, gosh sake.
Speaker 1 (01:42:34):
Time watching bas.
Speaker 4 (01:42:35):
Joe Flacco's career is not that much different than Eli
mannings because you do have to include the regular season games.
The Lakers are leading at Denver ninety six eighty seven
final seconds of the third quarter, Luka Donsich with twenty
six points, Ruey Hacha Murray with twenty one and twenty
for Austin Reeves, and then Lebron James with nineteen as
well triple double already for Nicola Jokic in three quarters.
(01:42:59):
As for the earlier game at Philadelphia, Phillies lost seven
in a row, Brooklyn beat them one oh five, one
to oh three on a last second tip in a
putback off a miss three. Phoenix won. At Chicago won
twenty one one seventeen. Bulls have lost six in a row.
It's the Rockets leading late first half at Utah fifty
three to forty seven. In college hoops, complete dominance from
(01:43:19):
number three Duke at Madison Square Garden. Tonight's Duke over
Illinois one ten to sixty seven. The Aliini from three
point range two for twenty six victories for number one
Auburn and number two Florida. Fourth ranked Alabama beat Kentucky
ninety six to eighty three. Arkansas has just come back
for a win over fifteenth rank Missouri ninety two to
eighty five. Arizona, ranked nineteenth in the country, leading DYU
(01:43:43):
twenty two to seventeen as they approach mid first half.
That's what Arnie was trying to do right there. Houston
beat Iowa State in their top ten matchup sixty eight
fifty nine. LJ Crier twenty eight points and for six
ranked Tennessee thirty points for chas Lanier. All's won at
number seven ten A and M seventy seven sixty nine
victories for Texas Tech and Clemson. Oregon came back to
(01:44:05):
win in overtime at number eleven Wisconsin, Oklahoma beat number
twenty one Mississippi State, and Vanderbilt upset number twenty four
Ole miss In the NHL, Buffalo eight two over the Rangers,
Washington won eight three at Pittsburgh, Philadelphia sixty three over Edmonton.
Minnesota won in overtime at Detroit four to three, and
Winnipeg won its ninth straight game, a shootout victory at
(01:44:27):
Saint Louis four to three. The league had been off
for almost two weeks until tonight. Juan Soto of the
Mets homard and his first at bat of spring. The
Mets beat Houston six to three. The Rams gave quarterback
Matthew Stafford permission to talk to other teams. Cleveland guard
Joel Botonio will tell the Browns whether he's retiring before
free agency starts next month, and the NFL scouting combine
(01:44:49):
starts Thursday. Next Saturday, March first, workouts for the quarterbacks
and the running backs and the wide receivers.
Speaker 1 (01:44:55):
Back to you, Yes, I loved the NFL combat banks
a lot of Steve. I'm not football, no, I know,
because you're not a real true football nursty. I can't
come on the other ware Olympics. Come on, man, it's
not the underware Olympics. This is actually where you can
find the what guys do. Yes, there's no defenses on
the field. There's plenty of tape we can put on.
(01:45:16):
But it's just fun, bro, it's fun to watch the forty.
It's fun to watch these guys. Due to two twenty five,
I believe that.
Speaker 2 (01:45:25):
This is the reason why so many draft picks are
missed by NFL general managers. They go so much fy.
What's the forty? How high can you jump?
Speaker 5 (01:45:33):
You know?
Speaker 1 (01:45:33):
What can you do? The shuttlecocket or whatever it is?
I mean, so there, Why is this okay?
Speaker 3 (01:45:38):
So?
Speaker 1 (01:45:38):
Then why how do they miss on guys that don't
puts on well at draft? But the tape is good
and they still miss on the guy. Why does that happen?
It's just a it's a crapshoot, arn'tie.
Speaker 2 (01:45:46):
It's what you've done on the football field. Give me
what you've done on the football field instead of what
you're doing on the forty.
Speaker 1 (01:45:52):
Man. Sometimes you can put the tape on too, and
people get fool by the tape. I try not to.
I'm not gonna say I don't. I just try not
to get fool by the tape, because take don't lie
like film. Don't lie.
Speaker 3 (01:46:02):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:46:02):
That's why they use it. Whatever you're taking that pack
of skiles, young man, we got you in the camera.
That's what happens.
Speaker 2 (01:46:07):
When the guy's playing like nine games against subpar opponents
and only playing one good team, then there's a difference.
Speaker 1 (01:46:14):
Then your name is Zach Wilson, which I said coming
out of it, coming out of his coming out of
his pro day off the back across the field throw
I said, people, go put the tape on from twenty nineteen,
not the twenty twenty season where a lot of a
lot of teams weren't playing, teams were pulling out and
he looked really good, and he got to a big
bowl game against Coastal Carolina. Go put the twenty nineteen
tape on. He's horrible. He's horrible. Go put the tape on.
(01:46:37):
But people want to ignore that tape. That tape is
right in front of you, and you still go fourth. Overall,
that's what I'm saying. He didn't have a crazy combine,
but people did go by his tape and he ended
up being It's the same with Mark Sanchaz, Sam Darnold, Dude,
I could go on Achille Smith. There's so many quarterbacks
miss and it's not off the combine. It's off the tape.
So that's why I enjoyed a combine because you do
(01:47:00):
get Xavier Worthy, right who do comes in and and
he's their number one, He's their wr number one, whether
people want admit that night in Kansas City. I give
you another thing too, Another player CJ two K coming
out of Central Florida, what really looked at as a
big time drive pick, but went to that combine and
ran that four to two whatever it was, gets drafted
by Tennessee. Oh by the way, he also goes on
to have a two thousand yard season, so there's something
(01:47:22):
there with the forty yard dash and to speed Ie
also Jamal Charles, not a two thousand yard guy, but
the guy that put up great speed and you go, okay,
let let's see let's see what's up with this guy.
But I want to go back to this story really quick,
also to make sure tell everybody come back for coming
to you lot from the tire Night dot Com studio.
And I do want to go to this Johns thing
(01:47:43):
because about two years ago I'd said here on this
show that if something didn't happen with this Johnnie and
this Milwaukee team as far as them getting back to
a final, because I'm not gonna knock his championship, but
if you really go back and look at that offseason,
I mean, excuse me, that postseason run. In that postseason
run is the Kyrie step on ankle game I'm talking about.
(01:48:03):
And then in the Eastern Conference Finals, do you remember
who they played, Arnie, They played the Atlanta Hawks, right right, right, right,
right right. They played the Atlanta Hawks who had had
Nate McMillan as a coach, and Nate McMillan had got
those guys kind of on the right cylinder and played
well and got them pushed. Remember trade went into MSG
and and and you know, with showing off, putting up
forty eight and fifty points against them, doing the thing
(01:48:25):
and got to the Eastern Conference Finals, and that's who
their Eastern Conference appointed was. And then when they got
to the finals, it was like, okay, you're your's two
to one to two. But then you just know Giannie
is gonna take Oh remember Jannis got ripped for his
free throws and he made it a point to talk
about it at his post game. And it is a
true championship. It's not a lockout season, it's not a
(01:48:46):
COVID season. But it just makes you go, man, if
things kind of went right for some other teams, some injuries, Kevin,
Kevin Durant's foot's a little shorter, we're not talking about that.
And I said, then, I said they better get back
are Giannice is going to start, you know, kind of
wanting to get out of here because you know Squeaky
Will gets the oil. And I never thought Middleton was
a two. I thought Middleton was a three. My pissons
(01:49:09):
drafted him and had him for a year before they
let him go. He had Middleton for a year. Maybe
I never thought Middleton, No, middle is not a two,
is a three.
Speaker 2 (01:49:18):
I don't think With that being said, Giannis is gonna
end up back in Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (01:49:22):
Uh oh, he want out. I think he I think
he want out. The best for his career is to
leave Milwaukee.
Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
The best thing for him to do is to maximize
his you know, you know, being seen by everybody is
to go to like the Lakers or the Knicks, and
it gives you a better chance of winning. Also, they're
never gonna be able to put a great team around
him in Milwaukee. People don't want to go live in Milwaukee,
free agents don't want to go there, and free agents
really aren't clamoring to go ahead and play with the
(01:49:49):
honest I think he's gonna go ahead and think about
getting out of there and and going somewhere else like
the Lakers would be a perfect situation for him because Lebron's.
Speaker 1 (01:49:58):
That's too that's too easy. Man, give us another? Can
I give you one? I get get your second? How
about the Miami Heat? Kyle Rowley can't ever get free
agents other than Lebron, Wade and Bosh coming together themselves.
Speaker 2 (01:50:12):
Are you already closer to winning in Miami though?
Speaker 1 (01:50:15):
Hm with Yon, I think I think I know, But
I think if Giannis is there, you can't attract somebody else.
I agree with you that I think of no state tax,
it's Miami. It's South Beach. You got all the Cubans,
you got all the bodukwas, you got all the the
the the Dominic Donalds, you got his Hey man, listen,
(01:50:36):
if you ain't been to South Beach in a minute,
you need to go. Okay, if you ain't been in
a minute, you need to go. And that's enough to
draw people. You got Hibiscus Island, you got Key Island,
you got all the celebrity islands where they live and
they're gated communities. It's you know, it's never cold, never,
never snows, always rains. You know, got where the hurricane
season and stuff. But it's it's always and it's and
(01:50:56):
it's Pat Raley and it's the Miami heat.
Speaker 2 (01:50:58):
It's is not going to be around. He's just close
to retiring.
Speaker 1 (01:51:01):
All you think, so how much long? How much low
are you thinking?
Speaker 2 (01:51:04):
Look at his age? I mean, the guy's got to
be what seventy five or something about about bread chuck
the how old is Pat Rowley?
Speaker 1 (01:51:10):
He's gotta be. Yeah, we got we got to switch up.
Ian Ian had to step out. Ian had to leave
a little early day, and then we got this breed.
Brian and I working together for the very first time
she's produce. She's been producing for like the last hour
and a half, last two hours to be here. If
you guys know, hot Riley's actually seventy nine, so wow, Wow,
he's almost I didn't know that he's almost eighty. He know,
(01:51:31):
you gotta yeah, he's he can't be going that much
orphyj I did not know he was low. He'll be
eighty looks good, looks good. So he can't continue like that.
Maybe another's too much, another couple of years, possibly a
couple of geez. I don't even know how Oh, I mean,
he ain't balling, he ain't playing. No, I understand, he's
(01:51:51):
just down there in that son. You see how good
his skin looks.
Speaker 2 (01:51:54):
You know, I always thought more people would be like
Jimmy Johnson, where he's like, why would I want to
come back to coaching. I fish what I want, I
got what I want. I come in and do the
football show one Sunday a week, and then I go
back and enjoy all my festivities. Whit Why wouldn't I
enjoy life when I get to love.
Speaker 1 (01:52:11):
The love the love?
Speaker 3 (01:52:12):
Arnie?
Speaker 1 (01:52:13):
Why do you still do radio? Arnie? You can ski,
you can snowmobile. Right in the summertime. You can go
to the lake, you can eat, you get made fresh
mable serve from the tree. All you gotta do is
hold a jar out there and you get it. You
get great lobster and lobsters, even though you're not a
lobster guy. But it's out there the great seamed Like,
why do you still sit down multiple times a week
and talk for three four hours and do sports?
Speaker 2 (01:52:34):
It's not like we're digging ditches though, that's for damn sure.
Speaker 1 (01:52:39):
And I don't do too many days. Some days in
this business, you're digging. Yeah, that's that's for sure. Don't sure.
Don't make it seem easy, man, because there's a lot
of people that did. They just come sit down and
do this. And it's not knocking people that have the
aspirations of doing this. Just don't think. You walk in
the studio and you sit down and it's you know,
you're calling are your dad? Pat?
Speaker 2 (01:52:58):
Those guys right away, that's you know, offense that's getting
up there. And I just don't know if you want
to continue the grind of doing something like that at
that age.
Speaker 1 (01:53:06):
Faster you gain if Milwaukee, if he wants out do
you suffice him with Milwaukee. You tell him, no, man,
sit time, We'll get you something. Oh no, no, no,
I get rid of him, and I get as much
as I can. I want three first round picks. I
want a couple of second round picks. I want to
be able to rebuild the team.
Speaker 2 (01:53:20):
I want to be able to bring you guys that
are going to be generational that the fans are gonna love,
that's gonna want.
Speaker 1 (01:53:26):
To play up here in Milwaukee. I want a young team.
I want an exciting team. So no, you got to
give you a whole bunch of draft picks at the end. Nope,
I tell him, sit tight, We'll get you somebody else. Man.
All right, already, man, we're coming down the the what
do they call it the back straight away? Man, the
home stretch. Almost three hours done, a lot of good
stuff talking about today. May we took a courby. We'll
come back and we'll do by this time next week.
(01:53:48):
But shortly after the show, our podcast will be going up.

we get off the air. Throw some ds on it, Ah,
(01:54:13):
throw some d Mary Matt J. Vernon Husky, Arnie's mayor
and Fox Sports Saturday on Fox Sports Radio. Great show,
Arnie and we ended off. We one of my favorite segments.
By this time next week, So this part of the show,
Arnie and I are gonna tell the future.
Speaker 3 (01:54:31):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:54:31):
A lot of people like they make predictions. We just
gonna tell you what's going to happen and see how
right we are next week. I'll go first. By the
time next week, you will see an increase viewership of
NHL games coming off the Four Nations tournament. Oh, I hope.
Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
So, I hope it goes in and carries a little
bit of momentum. I'm not so sure about that, but
I will see if you're right. I know a couple
of guys are gonna miss games. What's the second half starts?
So that that kind of sucks. By this time next week,
Justin Tucker will be suspended from the NFL.
Speaker 1 (01:54:59):
They've not that act fast. They have to act swift.
Speaker 2 (01:55:02):
I think they're gonna get They've already talked to three
or four of the women. I don't know how many
they're gonna have to speak to before they realize something's
wrong here. He needs to be suspended asap.
Speaker 1 (01:55:14):
By this time next week, Matthew Stafford would be all
in for one more year of being a Los Angeles
Ram and being their quarterback. Wow, don't think so, my friend.
Speaker 2 (01:55:26):
I think there's a lot of hurt feelings that will
see what happens by this time next week. Now that
the Lakers are on a roll, because they're really dusting
Denver right now, they're going to go ahead and make
the climb in the Western Conference. They'll be passing the
Houston Rockets this time next week, and they'll be on
the heels of Denver and Memphis about one game behind
those two teams, trying to get to the number two seeds.
Speaker 1 (01:55:48):
All right, By this time next week, the boss at
Celtics will close the gap in Cleveland two and a
half games, not down to two and a half, but
we'll close the gap two and a half. They're down
six now, so by this time next week it'll be
three and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:56:03):
I know Stanton went ahead and said he's missing spring
training and probably it's the start of the season. I
hate to predict injuries, but by this time next week,
there'll be some big star in Major League Baseball or
for the Yaks that will say he's heard they'll have
to miss spring training and all of April and May
before he comes on back. Happens all the time in
(01:56:23):
baseball for whatever reason.
Speaker 1 (01:56:25):
By this time next week, people will start grumblings on
what should Steph Curry be telling the front office and
go to to State Warriors that he wants them to
do into the offseason because they just might not even
make the playing this year Aaron Jeopardy. They're only two
games out of it right now. They're in it at
the ninth seed, but that doesn't mean they can't fall
(01:56:46):
two games out. Yeah. Yeah, by this.
Speaker 2 (01:56:49):
Time next week, the Knicks would have made any moves,
but they're still right there. They need somebody because, like
I said, Boston, Cleveland, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Owen six, those
two T three teams, I really wanted them to get
Giannis before the trading deadline.
Speaker 1 (01:57:05):
No such luck. They'll have to go with what they got.
Speaker 2 (01:57:07):
But I'm not feeling good against those top teams until
the playoffs come around, and.
Speaker 1 (01:57:13):
Last but not least, by this time next week, we
will be discussing a big name NFL trade. Who is
it gonna be? This is the time this stuff starts
to get going because if we move into the combine,
as we start to move towards free agency, people want
to start to see how much money they got, what
kind of money had to move around? Well, you gotta
replace because you had to throw in with a trade.
(01:57:33):
What draft picks did you lose? What draft picks did
you get? You want to start to get that stuff now.
By this time next week, Debo, Aaron Rodgers could be somewhere.
He won't be by a VA trade. But Michael Parks's
name is out there. Garrett Wilson name is out there
also with the Jets. Even Sauce Gardner names is being
thrown around there. Tyreek Hill's name is being thrown out there.
Miles Garrett state, there are a lot of NFL players,
(01:57:53):
big names got to be thrown out there. Someone's getting
traded this week.
Speaker 2 (01:57:58):
I hope it's not gonna be Tyreek Hill. I want
him to be gone from the Dolphins. I'm prepared that
he may be gone, but it's only like ten percent.
I hope he does stay with Miami. Here's the thing
with Tyreek bro Is. I loved him having him seventeen
hundred yards back to back years. This year a little
down y, I get it. You'll have oos for six
or seven eight games. Even Dan Marinos said it on
Radio Row. You don't got too out there. You don't
(01:58:19):
really got a shot. It's just the way it is.
Speaker 1 (01:58:21):
But the fact that he went on his apologetic tour
on Radio Row all week long tells me that someone
has whispered to him and let him know that they're
thinking about moving on. If you could get two or
three pieces, including two offensive linemen, or the ability to
get another second or third round draft pick the draft
another lineman that falls a little bit because it's all
(01:58:42):
about team net. Take the kid from Texas at thirteen,
or take the rushing out of Georgia. But I would
love to just take the tackle out of Texas. He's
bona fide. Both those tackles are going and the top
fifteen pick. But at thirteen, take the tackle. Maybe move
Tyreek and see and I like the running back out
of Boise too. Were fine, Yeah, but I mean, I don't.
I don't see him falling. I don't see Ashon gent
(01:59:05):
falling to thirteen. If he falls, I've already told you
he falls out of top five. I'm just gonna ask,
what are you guys doing? They put the tape on
once again. Put the tape on side speed, explosive, this
break it tackle. He had more yards after contact than
the second leading rusher in college football this year. So
even if you just took his yards off to contact,
he was still the leading rusher in the nation.
Speaker 2 (01:59:27):
Yeah, but they do have him sliding. Matter of fact,
they have him borderlining like number nine, number ten at
this point.
Speaker 1 (01:59:33):
I don't agree. Man. I just had a chance to
get a bona fide back, a bona fide back that
I can turn, young legs, young body, no major history
injury stuff, man, And you get him that or you
get him now on a rookie contract in the league
where you need to run the football. Look with Sakwon
Barkley and Derek Henry just different their teams. Hello, are
we paying attention guys or not?
Speaker 3 (01:59:53):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:59:53):
Great show, Arny. I love you brother, Aaron Torres, Jason
Maurray coming up next. We love you. Guys, God bless
