Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, that's right, you heard the man that time of week.
My name is Bernie Frownle. We are come to your
line for the Fox Sports Radio studios here in Las Vegas.
Will take up to three am Pacific six am Eastern.
And as usual, I've got about eight hours of material.
We'll try to squeeze it into four. We're gonna cover
it all. And then there was one. There is one

(00:27):
day left in the regular season of the National Football
League and things aren't quite yet decided. We're gonna get
to all that tonight as well, but I want to
throw some flowers to the Emerald City for the fourth
time in franchise history, the Seattle Seahawks. Yes, they are
the number one seed in the NFC, and the last

(00:49):
three times, if you're scoring at home, or even if
you're just by yourself, the last three times the Seahawks
were the number one seed, they made the Super Bowl
up to Mike McDonald and company. In three short years,
they've turned to moribund franchise. Pete Carroll left in the
trash and a new offensive coordinator, a new quarterback, a

(01:11):
new culture, physical latitude, and there you have it. Where
you watch other organizations like the Raiders stumble around like
a drunk crossing and icy street for two decades. The
Seattle Seahawks are the number one seed. Look where they
wore three years ago. Not only that, they clinched their
first fourteen win season in franchise history with a pretty
dominant beat down of a pretty damn good forty nine

(01:34):
Er team who'd been hot, and the forty nine Ers
had him at home at Levi Stadium on Saturday, and
that earns the Seahawks home field advantage in the NFC.
By the way, for you, history buffs the matchup Saturday
night between the Seahawks and forty nine Ers first ever

(01:54):
regular season finale in league history in which you had
a situation where you had two teams entering, both teams
entering having won their last six games, and by the way,
before Saturday Night's loss, Dan Anders had won seven of
their last eight games. Between these two teams, and I
think there are some things that stick out to me

(02:14):
that are very noteworthy. Let's start with Sam Donald's redemption.
People just won't let this guy go. He's a good quarterback,
he always has been, and he hung around and he's
proved it to everybody. He's one over his teammates. Everywhere's
been now we get it. Last season, Sam struggled in
the critical game, the critical final two weeks of the
season for the Vikings. First they lost to the Detroit

(02:37):
Lions that cost him the NFC North title, and then
the NFC wild card game against the Rams was just
a complete debacle. And in those two games, Donald completed
fifty three percent of his pass as a combined four
hundred eleven yards, one touchdown, two turnover, sacked eleven times,
a sixty six passer rating. Yeah, we're talking about Sam Donal,

(03:00):
not shoot or Standers, everybody's favorite hero. However, Donald started
on the road to redemption a couple of weeks ago
that thirty eight to thirty seven overtime victory against the
Rams by overcoming a couple of second half interceptions and
going on to win an overtime. Look are winning without

(03:20):
having to go to overtime or whatever whatever it was.
Work with me, you know what I meant the great
two point conversion in the same situation in week eighteen,
you know, in need of a victory to get the
number one seed. Donald was smart. You know he leaned
down a strong running game in a nasty defense. But
he did his part twenty twenty six a buck ninety

(03:40):
eight touchdown efficiently, and more importantly, didn't turn the ball
over once. And the truth of the matter is his
teammates do have his back. And there's an old saying
in life, it's not what happens, it's how you react.
I think how Sam Donald has reacted has been admirable.
But what was even more noticeable is that the Seahawks

(04:02):
just didn't beat the forty nine Ers. They bullied them.
That one two running back punch of of Charbonnet and
Kenneth Walker. The third one went to Michigan, the other
went to Michigan State. How about that they ran the
ball all over San Francisco's defense for the minute they

(04:22):
got off the bus. They had one hundred and eighty
yards for the game. And this is a team and
the forty nine ers they'd just been allowing like one
hundred and three yards a game. Number six in the NFL.
Walker had ninety seven. And what that did was control
the clock and keep San franz offense off the field,
and they held the forty nine. If you would have

(04:44):
told me last night. At this time, the Niners would
have been held to three points Saturday night. I wouldn't
have believed it. During their six game winning streaks which
I just alluded to, the Naers had been averaging thirty
six points a game. So there's that. Football played in
three phases and Seattle's won't we won't talk about the
kicking game didn't ended up not mattering. But Seattle's defense

(05:08):
completely bottle up Christian McCaffrey. And that's saying something. Seattle.
They ran the ball and they stopped the run. Sounds
like a real, you know, formula for a team that
is very much on the short list to get to
the Super Bowl, very much on the short list. Christian

(05:29):
McCaffrey entered Saturday's Saturday Nights game with about twenty one
hundred yards from scrimmage in seventy touchdowns. He's the only
player in history other than well Ladanian Tomlinson. They have
three seasons of at least two thousand scrimmy charge and
fifteen touchdowns. However, Seattle showed you can't stop Christian McCaffrey.

(05:50):
You have to tackle him. You have to wrap them up,
which is another thing Seattle does incredibly well. They tackle
in space. They don't try to blow you up, they
don't try to play ring around the rosie your neck
and drag you down stupid. They hit you, they wrap
you up, They drive you under the ground with bad intentions.
Twenty three rushing yards McCaffrey had, they couldn't get anything going.

(06:14):
And then that crazy drop pass near the end zone
that Seattle's linebacker Drake Thomas picked off that basically completely
sealed the game and broke the Niners back. So what's next, Well,
the Seahawks they head back home, maybe to enjoy a
little ivers fish and a week off and get some rest,

(06:34):
lick their wounds, and they'll find out who they play
in the divisional round. Meanwhile, Sandfran, now they got a regroup.
They're gonna have to hit the road for an NFC
wildcard round. And if the Rams lose to the Cardinals tomorrow,
well the Niners. They'll face the winner of the NFC South.
But if the Rams win in their fourteen point favorites
over Arizona, San Fran gets to visit either the Eagles

(06:59):
or the Bears. I don't think they would enjoy either one.
And I'm about I'm gonna give my props to Kyle
Shanahan later in the show how he did it this
year with duct tape and glue and scotch tape. Huge props.
And I really thought they'd find to wait Saturday night,
but I was wrong. Meanwhile, all you gotta just win Carolina,

(07:19):
that's all. Well, you know, I saw a bumper sticker once.
Anything's possible if you don't have to do it, and
they didn't. The Bucks hang on to live another day.
They beat the Panther sixteen fourteen. That means we're gonna
have to wait till tomorrow Sunday to find out who
will be crowned NFCSOU champion. Tampa Bay does hold the

(07:40):
timebreaker over Carolina with both sitting at eight and nine,
and before we scoff at an eight nine team make
of the playoffs. I get it, it's not the best look.
Remember the day beast Wood was born. The eight and
nine Seahawks in the twenty ten season, I believe it
was January twenty eleven, hosted the defending world champion New
Orleans Saints. Saints were seven point favorites and the Seahawks

(08:03):
beat them like a rended Mule that day and that
day Beast Mode Marshawn Lynch was born. So an eight
and nine team could win just if they get a
game at home. But if the Falcons beat the Saint
Sunday afternoon, we'll have a three way tie at the top.
And in that scenario it's the Panthers who would advance
despite losing in a very disappointing fashion on Saturday afternoon

(08:24):
in Tampa Bay. Now, if that sounds like a wacky
way for the number four seed to be decided, well
it's because it is a wacky way. But this is
a division that effectively became a battle of who wanted
at least to race to the bottom. And it's weird
that it comes down to an otherwise meaningless game between
two teams already eliminated, being Atlanta a three and a

(08:45):
half point favorite over New Orleans, and nothing about what
we saw Saturday night would give you the least impression
of either the Bucks or the Panthers are about to
make any noise in the playoffs. But again, you never know.
It's got to be decided on the field. I don't know,
maybe they should just reduce it to four teams like
somebody said about our college football playoff. Sure, there's bloouts

(09:06):
in every sport, but I digress. Meanwhile, the Bucks passing attack,
even though they won, it's sputtered badly. Mike Evans, Chris Godwin,
Amika Abuga. I can't even pronounce his name right, which
is called booger, like the guy in Revenge of the Nerds.
Fifty yards on four catches combine all of them. Tampa

(09:26):
Bay's defense though, yeah, they're the bend and break defense.
They ranked twenty seventh in past success rate. But Carolina
couldn't take advantage. So Sunday Sunday awaits. And there are
a lot of NFL games of importance. I'n't even got
to Ravens and Steelers. The winner takes the FC North

(09:46):
and the final AFC wild card spot. Lamar Jackson is back.
And before you start licking your chots, Ravens fans, this
is a de facto playoff game. Lamar Jackson in the
playoffs three ten touchdowns, seven interceptions, a fifty five percent
completion rate, two fumbles, and oh, by the way, a

(10:07):
sixty eight passer rating. Not real appetizing. By the way,
these two teams in their last thirty thirty two games.
The dog is twenty five and seven, Pittsburgh catching three
and a half. Now New England's at Miami in an
afternoon game. The Patriots can clinch THEFC number one seed
and a first round by just by beating Miami. Denver

(10:31):
they play the Chargers. Broncos can clinch the AFC number
one seed with a win, but if they lose, the
Patriots or Jaguars can snatch it. Jacksonville, Tennessee Jaguars vying
for their AFC South title, also potentially a number one seed.
All right, and you already know about Atlanta, New Orleans,

(10:53):
which I just told you could determine the NFC South
winter depending on who wins that game. So the game
the AFC number one seed, you got the Pats, Brocos,
Jaguars all half past to the top seed and home
field advantage, THEFC wildcard the Raven Steelers. It's a game
winner take off for the last AFC wildcard spot or

(11:14):
playoff spot. Excuse me. Meanwhile, the NFC South again the Bucks,
Pants Panthers, well, because the Panthers lost, That sets up
a Falcon Saints game to potentially decide the division title
and If you followed all that, good for you, because
we're gonna have a lot more coming up. We're gonna

(11:34):

I think Old miss is gonna beat Miami, and I'll

(12:18):
explain why. Just hang around, we're gonna be here for
four hours. I'm gonna get to it. And yes, Indiana
is the best team in college football. And it's a
damna thing I've ever seen in many circles. And I'm
looking at you, Cam Newton. You're still on the Rodney
dangerfield of college football. They get no respect, you know.
But Kurt Signetti said it best. Our players don't really

(12:39):
know anything about Alabama's historic dominance. They just know what
they saw on film, and we know what we saw
in the field. We are going to get to all

Circus Survivor, where he's fared very well against some of

(14:11):

welcome in.

Speaker 5 (14:15):
How are you, Bernie? I'm great, But enough about me.

Speaker 6 (14:18):
How are you.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
I'm doing great. I'm looking forward to having you tonight
because your direct to sink style in which you don't equivocate,
is going to play real well with my audience. And
I would like to go through several of these games
Sunday that now actually have different storylines based on what
happens Saturday, and I'd like to start with New Orleans
at Atlanta at Lanta Land three and a half. We

(14:43):
know what happens if Atlanta wins. We know what happened
if New Orleans wins, and New Orleans is once four
straight games with Tyler Shirke at quarterback. Do you have
thoughts in this game?

Speaker 5 (14:52):
Yeah? I do. You know, Shuck has been a pleasant surprise,
you know, the rookie out of Louisville. He's gone on
the road, he's played at home, He's done extremely well.
And the Saints, believe it or not, have been playing
pretty darn good football. I'm a little surprised that this
number is as high as it is. I think people
tend to overreact, Burnie, based on what they've seen or witnessed,

(15:13):
most recently in the fact is, the Falcons looked like
world beaters just the other night, knocking off a very
good Rams team. But I like the Saints plus the points.
But of course, if Atlanta should win, there's a three
way tie. But Carolina, even though they lost today, would
steal the division. And it's interesting for seating purposes because

(15:33):
you know, Carolina basically lost, but they could steal the
division Tampa Bay they win, and yet the only way
they can get in is if the Saints pull off
a mild upset. I like New Orleans plus the points.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
I am with you on that. I grabbed New Orleans
plus the points, and you've ran up a you know,
a great point in that Money night was really the
fact of Super Bowl for the Falcons and Bjan Robinson
had another fantastic game. So we'll see how that shakes out.
A game that doesn't have any consequence except for maybe

(16:10):
a sack record. But the Bengals seem to be hot.
They're laying seven and a half at home against Cleveland.
This feels like a potential blowout. Would be willing to
lay this seven and a half?

Speaker 5 (16:21):
No, never, Okay, I don't trust the Bungles. I don't
trust their defense. I certainly don't trust that Taylor, and
to a lesser degree, I don't trust Joe Burrow. So
you're talking about a divisional game and you're giving me
more than a touchdown. Yeah, give me the Browns plus
seven and a half. I've made a really good living
for three plus decades betting on ugly dogs points me

(16:41):
more than opinion, So yeah, find me up to the Browns.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Another kind of ugly game, Indianapolis at Houston. I kind
of like the under here, but Houston another double digit game.
This is what happens in Week eighteen. Thoughts on the
Colts at Houston.

Speaker 5 (16:58):
Yeah, I understand your thought says they're Bernie. And one
thing I've learned is if Bernie speaks, I listen in
your viewers and listeners should too, because you've been doing
this as long as I have at the highest level
here in since city in Las Vegas. I respect the
Houston Texans defense. You know, overall, out of thirty two
teams in the league, they are the top ranked defense.

(17:19):
Not sold on their offense, They've been consistently inconsistent. But again,
give me the double digit plus ten and a half
and I'll see the cashier.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
Yeah. I like the way you think, because really, when
the balls in the air, you're going to want to
be on the side of the book in my opinion,
and it feels like the books will need the Colts,
especially because if the Houston Texans win this, they claim
the NFC South title. Is that not correct?

Speaker 5 (17:49):
Well, the thing you have to look at here is
I really feel that Hughes the Houston Texans are going
to be a five seed. The Jacksonville Jags are going
to be the three seed. And it's just one of
those things that everyone is excited about the Houston Texans defense,
but the fact is they had it not been for

(18:09):
a nineteen point fourth quarter comeback at home against the
Jacksonville Jags, they wouldn't even be in contention. I mean,
the Buffalo Bills probably are still the best team in
the AFC, but they're going to flight all the way
to a six seed. Houston's going to steal the five seed.
Jacksonville with the top rank rush defense, and all the
football will be three. So that means Jacksonville and Buffalo

(18:29):
will play in the first round. But like I say,
I respect Houston's defense, but respectfully, they're there to win
the game. There is no incentive. I mean, they can
win by ten points but not cover. And what that
means is for those viewers or listeners that want to
lay double digits, if you want to lay ten and

(18:51):
a half, just think about this. The Texans are there
to win the game. Now, get anyone hurt, play the scoreboard,
play the clock late in advance, and if they win
by ten, they're going to bring on the dancing girls
and put the champagne on ice. And you as a
better at minus ten and a half, you're going to
be eating Ramen noodles.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Talk with Scott Pritchard. Find him on Twitter at pritchard Wins.
One of the most successful handicappers here in Las Vegas.
A fixed you're in town and a fixture on all
the major contests in circa Westgate and the like. I
want to go to a game that has interest primarily
from a fan standpoint. But if the Bears clinch, If

(19:34):
the Bears win, they clinched the NFC's number two seed.
It's a funny line to me. I've seen two and
a half and I've seen threes, and you got to
feel that Ben Jonson would like to pay the Lions
back for the fifty two point drubbing a few weeks ago.
But I can't keep my mind around this game, Scott,
so I've stayed off a what are your thoughts?

Speaker 5 (19:54):
Well, I like the Lions plus the points and I've
seen plus three and a half dog twenty, So the
Lions plus three and a half I think presents some value. Yes,
the Bears. They are the most overhyped, overrated team that
I've seen in quite some time. I mean, they are
far and above the top ranked team in football as
far as plus minus n takeaways. It's a terrible game
plan if you have to rely on turnovers. Imagine what

(20:17):
they would be, what their record would be if they
didn't get such favorable bounces to go their way with
pick sixers. Even the other night against San fran I mean,
they got a pick six in the first quarter and
they still lost the game. In fact, how bad is
the Niners? I mean they scored. I mean how bad

(20:40):
is the Bears defense? Because the Niners scored twenty seventh
in the league defensively the Bears, and we know that
defense wins championships. Vegas doesn't take the Bear seriously. I
take them even less seriously. But the fact is the
Niners scored forty plus points against the Bears, and yet
the Niners and a must win at home, they scored

(21:01):
three points today.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Yeah, no, listen, I have to eat crow. I've been
believing that this Bears high wire act would have ended
a month and a half ago, so I just had
to recuse myself. But a team you have been correct
on since early October. You pegged at the Packers will
not only be in the postseason, but they would in
fact supersede the Detroit Lions in their own division, which

(21:25):
they did. You won your bet fair and square with
Jim Feist, and I was wrong. I would have thought
the Lions would have And the reason I segue into
that is because the Packers visit the Vikings. The Vikings
opened up as six and a half point favorites. I
now see ten and a half's out there. Do we
dare even take a gander on this game and grab

(21:45):
the points with the Packers or just have a beer
and watch it.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
No, we watch it, but there's nothing better than watching
football and having action. So I already played the Vikings
at home minus the points, and I tend to lean
on the dog. The fact is the are locked in
at number seven, so they're going to play their cheerleaders.
The game is absolutely meaningless, but it's not meaningless to
the Vikings and JJ McCarthy, the quarterback for Minnesota. He

(22:12):
has a bit of a reprieve. He has a chance
to prove himself, and the Vikings have a decent competitive roster.
They're at home and this game, Bernie kind of reminds
me of a year ago when the Denver Broncos. We're
looking to embarrass the division rival to Kansas City Chiefs
because the Chiefs took it as a bye. Just same
way here with the Packers and Denver one thirty eight zip.

(22:33):
So I think ten and a half should be the
first half line. The Vikings are going to roll over
the Packers because the Packers are not playing for anything.
They're resting everybody. So yeah, this is an easy game.
Take the Vikings, lay the points.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Scott is. My research is correct. The Eagles who holds
the Commanders Sunday, and I believe they're laying for They're
playing to secure the NFC East and playoff positioning as well.
A short line for your thoughts on.

Speaker 5 (23:02):
That game, Yeah, that's the one game. I look at
the total I played under thirty nine. I see it's
down to thirty eight. And I think because you're looking
at the two to three seed, the Bears at two
as long as they can win, the Eagles at three
as long as they can win. But if those if
the Bears should stumble, I mean there's a chance that
the Eagles could steal the number two seed. It doesn't matter,

(23:24):
it doesn't matter who the Bears play, they could lose
them there. Do you really think the Packers at the
seventh seed, are that concerned about going into Chicago to
play the Bears. I mean, no, they're not. I mean
they ad them beat by ten points late in the
fourth quarter with a backup quarterback. So yeah, as as
long as Love is back in contention and the Packers
are going to have a buye because they're taking tomorrow off.

(23:48):
But I do like the Eagles. I do like the
I can't say I like the Eagles. I like under
in this game because Philadelphia they're going to play it
very close to the vest. They're not gonna The only
way they can lose this game against Washington is if
they beat themselves a la. Turnovers. Turnovers lead the points,
and turnovers it's the great neutralizer when it comes to talent.

(24:11):
So yeah, I like the under.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Yeah, And I agree with your assessment on the Packers
traveling to Chicago. I think when you handicap, you look
for string versus weakness, and the Packers defense is so
much better than the Bears defense. I think it's a
significant edge. Would you agree with that?

Speaker 5 (24:27):
I absolutely one percent. The Packers are a top six defense, Okay,
and offensively, before Love went down, they were a top
six offense. So they're a very balanced team and they're
certainly not going to be concerned about adverse weather. You're
going from Green Bay to Chicago division rival for all
intent purpose. I mean, they should have swept the Bears.
But the Bears remind me of last year's Washington Commander's team, Bernie.

(24:50):
The fact that that team won six last minute, last
second Hill Mary fluke Win, fluke Win, fluke Win, and
then they had their tails handed to them again. The
Eagles in the playoffs by thirty two, even though they
the week prior to that they beat the over rated,
over hyped coach list Dan Campbell led Lion. Lions were
favored by double digits and they lost straight up twenty

(25:12):
three to ten. The Washington lost by thirty two to
Philadelphia the very next week. So the Bears complete fraud.
They're not going to go anywhere in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
Yeah, I can't disagree with any of that. Talk with
Scott Pritchard at Prichard Wins on Twitter, one of the
most successful handicappers here in Los Vegas. All right, so
the Rams you might slack me through the phone, and
the Cardinals are catching fourteen believe it or not. I
grab the fourteen and now it's down to thirteen and
a half. And now the Rams they have motivation to

(25:45):
win because they'd rather go to either you know, Tampa
Bay or Carolina than go to Philadelphia or even maybe Chicago.
But Sean McVay is going to play as starters. I
feel like the Rams has some self imposed pressure and
two touchdowns in a divisional game like this for one
team's Lucy Goosey. We talked about this last Tuesday, Scott

(26:06):
over at the over. Don DeMarco's historically in the NFL,
teams was something to play for facing teams that really
don't have anything to play for other than basically pride
the teams that are completely eliminated. Sixty one percent against
the number, and I'm getting a nice, juicy fourteen points. But
I'm going to defer to you. Did I make a
bad bet there? What are your thoughts?

Speaker 5 (26:26):
No, you made a great bet and you could lose
by thirty, but give me fourteen, double digits, two touchdowns. Yeah,
the Rams are there to win the game. I mean
they have a very advantageous seeding position opportunity here because
as long as they just hold, serve and beat a
bad Arizona Cardinal football team, the Rams will be a
five seed, which means there's only one team in the

(26:48):
NFC that gets a buy but not this year. The
Rams get to buy because they get to play Carolina
in the next round. So I'm talking about you have
to be seed at five, and then do you really
think the Rams are that about going back to Seattle?
And I'm not even convinced I have to play Seattle
in the second round because I think the Packers will
knock off the Bears and Seattle would be hosting the Packers.

(27:09):
And in that way, even if in that case scenario,
the Rams, do you think they're concerned about going to Philly?
Give me a break. Last year was the time to
be on Philly, not this year. They're twenty fifth in
the league offensively, eighteenth in the league defensively. We need
to evolve and move on from last year. Okay, they
won the Super Bowl. That was then. This is now.

(27:30):
We don't want to talk about last year. The Chiefs
didn't even make the playoffs this year, and they were
in the Super Bowl a year ago. So when we
listened to music, it's no longer an eight track. When
we make a phone call. It's no longer from a
rotary phone. Let's move on. The Rams win the game,
but they're not going to win by fifteen or more.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Yeah, how a right you are? I mean, the Chiefs,
the Vikings, and the Allions combined to go forty four
and seven last year and none of them are in
the in the playoffs. Scott, give me your thoughts on
Denver and the Chargers. I did grab you under at
thirty eight and a half. Tree Lance is not a
major league quarterback. Denver is a major league defense, and

(28:09):
the Broncos will be the top seed if they beat
the Chargers. Your thoughts on the game.

Speaker 5 (28:13):
The Denver Broncos are a poor man's version of the
Chicago Bears of the NFC. They've been extremely fortunate, extremely lucky.
One point win here, one point win. They're fluke fluke everywhere,
a fluke fluke. But they are going to be seed
at one. They are going to be the top seed.
And I do respect their defense. They're a top three,
top four defense. Not sold on their offense, but high ultitude,

(28:36):
thin air, and even the Broncos cannot find a way
to lose if they don't play. Giving that first round
by is huge, and so yeah, I think the Broncos
certainly win the game, but are they going to win
by double digits? I mean, I wouldn't lay it to
your point. You said this last week and it was
so insightful. And that's why when you are on the

(28:56):
Jim Fie Supports Handicapping panel, people come out and drow
and it's because of you and your content. And you're objective, Okay,
you're unbiased, and you put you for sixty one percent
ats versus the number one a team has to win
versus a team that's not playing for anything. Yeah, Broncos
will win, but you're asking them to win by thirteen.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
Come on, no, And it's not a small sample size.
It's one O, five and sixty nine going back to
nineteen ninety. Finally, Scott, the game that probably if we
could only watch one game of marrow, this would be
the one the Ravens at Pittsburgh, the Steelers getting three
and a half at home. You know where I stand
on this. In this series, the underdogs twenty five and

(29:37):
seven in the last thirty two. I'm really not a
Lamar Jackson guy, but you've got the last word. My friend,
on the game Baltimore at Pittsburgh. Truly, for all the marbles.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
I'm a big Mike Tomlin fan. This guy has done
more with less than anyone I know. And I'm not
a hardball fan, and I'm certainly not a Lamar Jackson
fan because these guys can't win the big game. Harball
back in twenty eleven again his brother, Yeah, he did
well in the Super Bowl, but Lamar Jackson has never
ever won a big game. But the Pittsburgh Steelers. I mean,

(30:09):
I have a strong opinion on this game, and it's
counterintuitive to what the masses are saying. I like the
Ravens money line. Again, I don't trust the three and
a half. I cannot lay three and a half in
a division game. For all the marbles. Baltimore starting to
play a little bit better. But to your point that
you mentioned earlier in the week, even you know, if

(30:30):
Lamar is playing in the game, he is not himself.
He used to be able to run and pass and
now he's trying to be a pocket passer and that's
just not who he is. He's very tentative to run,
and that's what made him an animal, made him a
man amongst boys was the fact that he could just
take the ball and run and now he's very hesitant.

(30:51):
But take the Ravens money line. You'll be happy you did.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Scott. I can't thank you enough. We've got to get
you on again. Appreciate your succinct and tell the folks
where they can find you. I believe you have your
own website as well.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
Yeah, Pritchard'spicks dot com. Some of the information is free,
some of it you have to pay for. That's Pritchard'spicks
dot com. The only thing I'll say is the most
expensive advice free advice. And then you can check me
out on social media at pritchard Wins. And to your point,
with the Circum Invitational, twenty five of the world's best
going had to head three years ago, actually two years ago.
I took third. Last year, I took six. This year

(31:26):
right now I'm in third place three weeks to go.
So and then the darn Westgate Survivor Contest five hundred
and fifty five thousand dollars, I made it to the
final day and lost. That didn't feel too good. And
then for the Circus Survivor I made it to Thanksgiving
outlasted eighteen thousand plus contestants out of eighteen thy eight
hundred competing for nineteen million dollars. And I was on

(31:48):
the Ravens and Lamar Jackson and Hardball and Oh.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Against Oh, and you were enough to save them, Jill,
thanks you, oh exactly.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
And not only that, it had the Westgate Contest actually continued.
I had saved Philly against the Raiders winter winners, taking
Lobster Dinner thirty one zip. I had saved Houston against
the Raiders. That was another winner. Last week Cincinnati at home,
that was a winner. And then this weekend I had
saved Jacksonville as a big fat favorite at home against

(32:21):
Tennessee and I must win. So yeah, I would have
been jen.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
I say, well, just to give the folks in perspective
your third in the third to Circa Invitational, I have
a lot of respect for you guys. I've only entered
one contest in my life. I was in the Westgate
Super Contest in twenty fourteen Scott As I say, in
New Jersey, hand to God, I was fifty seven percent.

(32:47):
I finished two hundred and fourth.

Speaker 5 (32:50):
Fifty seven percent is world class, and.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
I finished two hundred and fourth. So if you're third,
and this is against some of the best handicappers in
a nation in the world. Come from around the world
to be in this contest.

Speaker 5 (33:04):
Yeah, contest. It's kind of a side hustle. It's something
I mean, I'll match with with anyone. Maybe it's my
ego talking, but I've been fortunate and blessed. I've done
pretty well in this contest. But to your point, you
want to ultimately keep the main thing the main thing.
It's a matter of just sticking it to the sports books,
getting the best of it, beating closed closing line value,
cashing tickets. Anything over fifty two point four percent is gravy.

(33:28):
Fifty two point four percent is break even, but that's challenging.
You have to be right eleven times out of twenty
one just to break even. So at fifty five fifty
seven percent, biggest baddest sports better on the planet. Hall
of Famer Billy Walters his golden objective every year is
to hit fifty five percent. Now he's putting six figures
a game. But if his golden is objective is to

(33:49):
hit fifty five percent, who are we to say that
we have to hit sixty Anything over fifty two point
four percent. Man is gravy.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
Scott, keep up the great work, buddy. We'll have you
on again and good luck Sunday.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
Love you love the show. Keep doing what you're doing. Bernie,
it's working.

We're a twelve minutes away from the clock striking midnight
literally here in Las Vegas, perhaps where you live as well,
but figuratively it's the midnight hour for all of us,
which means you get the last word, get your fingers
Ready eight seven seven nine nine six six three six

(34:56):
nine eight seven seven Night Not on Fox. The callers
have been fantastic since we've been doing this for eighteen months,
and we've got three topics to that. I'm really looking
forward to hearing the variance and desperate opinions. On the
first one. I want to talk about NFL tanking. I
want to get your thoughts on it. Remember suck for Luck,

(35:18):
tank for Tua? Does it ever work? I hate tanking.
I know that everybody here wants the Raiders to lose
Sunday so they get the number one overall pick. Is
if they're not going to screw it up, or maybe
they won't screw it up, but maybe they get the
guy they want. But it's one guy. You see. The
thing is in the NFL. Unlike the NBA, where one

(35:38):
superstar can turn around a franchise like Magic Johnson did,
like Larry Bird did, like Lebron did in Cleveland, et cetera,
et cetera. The NFL has fifty three players, and you've
got to have a cohesive system, and you have competent
leadership and coaching, and you've got to block and tackle
and do a bunch of stuff. A top draft pick,
even a quarterback, can't do it alone. They need an

(36:01):
offensive line, they need receivers. The last quarterback drafted number
one overall to win a Super Bowl for the team
he was drafted by was Peyton Manning twenty eight years ago.
I hate tanking. Maybe you do, maybe you like it.
I want to hear your honest opinion on tanking. Do
you like it or not?

Speaker 7 (36:21):
All right?

Speaker 2 (36:22):
So, a couple of weeks ago, after Oregon beat James
Manison fifty one thirty four and old Miss Pommel Tulane
forty one to ten, the same old tired proposal started
a resurface across sports media. And I think you know
when Nick Saban said, well, you know, they don't let
the International Championship team play in the World Series. No,
they don't. That's because the International League doesn't play against

(36:44):
the major leagues during the regular season, but a group
of five teams do. So I have no problem with
one group of five team getting the playoffs. It's all
about opportunity. You can't create outcomes. You can't prevent blowouts.
We had them in the BCS era, we had them
in a group of four era. We have them in
the super Bowl. Ten of the last twenty two Super
Bowls have been blowouts. So someone suggesting maybe a group

(37:05):
of five playoffs, what would you think about that? A
group of five playoff? Well, I'm not for it, don't
you know. Keep we're really close to getting this thing right,
and you can't legislate against blowouts. I don't know if
anybody would really watch your group of five playoffs. Okay,

(37:28):
the FCS championship game last year between North Dakota State
and Montana State drew about two million viewers. That's pretty good,
where the CFP first round draws fifteen million viewers. So
I don't know that it's going to be a TV bonanza,
and it wouldn't even eliminate the problem we see now,
which is blowouts. You have blowouts in every level. You
create a separate tournament that would eliminate blowouts, you still

(37:50):
have five conference champions competing against each other. There'd be
massive disparities and talent resources depth. Some teams would win
by a large mark origins, and the championship would be
celebrated for about two hours, and then it seems like
the one would care. I think the courage system is evolving.
It's not perfect, but man, you can't tell me you're

(38:12):
not loving this looking forward to these final four. So
on the other hand, I think, you know, some people
might like this. But if you ask Boise State fans
who've been to the playoffs, would they want to be
a group of five national championship? No, I don't think
anybody wants that. So number one, please tell me what
you think of NFL tanking. Do you like it? Do

(38:34):
you not like it? Good idea, bad idea? Do you
hope your team does it? Do you hope they don't? Again,
remember suck for luck and tug for two? How did
that work out? I don't think it ever works out?
And I just gave my reason why the draft is uncertain.
It's a crapshoot. There's never a sure thing you might
get to pick you want. It could be a bus
that happens more often than not. And it's one player

(38:57):
and a roster of fifty three. Would you like to
see a group of five playoffs? Because of you know,
they're really their inability to truly compete on the national stage.
But I think one team, one team deserves a chance.
Now the third one and I've been needing to do
this for a while, but this poor guy took so
much heat after his Ohio state prediction. I'd like to

(39:20):
get your folks opinion on Urban Meyer. What is his
image in your eyes? Now? He wanted bowling Green Utah
championships in Florida, Ohio State. He wrote a great book
eight years ago called Above the Line. I'm a book reader.
I loved it, but then I saw what happened at Jacksonville,
and it doesn't feel like he followed the principles and
philosophies and culture he talked about building in his book

(39:44):
that he didn't do it at Jacksonville. It was very
bothersome the things I heard. So what's your image of
Urban Meyer? Mine's tainted now. I used to have a
lot of respect for him. So NFL tanking, the group
of five playoff, yes or no? Meyer, give me your
honest image and opinion of him. Eight seven, seven nine

(40:05):
nine six six three sixty nine eight seven seven ninety nine.
On Fox, It's the Madnight Hour, will be taking your
calls on those three subjects. So let's get it ripping.
You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
That's right, your heard the man Bernie Frattle show keeps
rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frattle. We're Comedy

(40:27):
Life from Las Vegas Studios. We are just getting started.
And yep, well we've got NFL tanking. I say it
doesn't work. One player cannot guarantee success or remember tank
for tua, suck for luck. Uh, it's not like the NBA.
But one guy can turn a team around, and the
draft is uncertain, a group of five playoff. It was

(40:49):
suggested after Nick Saban's rant, I say it's a bad idea,
you might like it. I like what the callers have
to say. And Urban Meyer, after taking another beating on
his comments, have to the Ohio State non prediction. What
is your image of urban Meyer these days? It's time
it's aim In that hour eight seven, seven, nine to

(41:09):
nine on Fox eight seven, seven, nine nine six six
streets of nine, let's hear from you. Stanley from Massachusetts
opens up tonight. Welcome in Stanley, How are.

Speaker 8 (41:19):
You not bad? We haven't spoken a while. The last
time we spoke was in regard to the simplicity of
how basketball or just sports in general was back in
my childhood from two thousand, all the way to twenty ten,
you said that sports wagering has been is a big
influence in it right now. So so your main points, sir,

(41:44):
especially since growing up playing the sport of football and
all that. I'm just gonna be honest, there's no guaranteed
in tanking because it just doesn't make sense anymore because
you actually have, like teams actually have to put in
the work.

Speaker 4 (42:00):
That's number one. Number two.

Speaker 8 (42:03):
Tom Brady sent himself back in twenty nineteen or twenty
twenty that most of these quarterbacks in college aren't ready
for the simplicity but the sophisticated offenses or just schemes
that come all together in this in the NFL, and
that's why.

Speaker 7 (42:21):
Good majority of them fail.

Speaker 8 (42:23):
That is why we need to also talk about not
trying to like make something.

Speaker 4 (42:30):
Bigger than what it is.

Speaker 8 (42:31):
But it's kind of evident now why some quarterbacks like
Anthony Richardson, and we use him for example, this like himself,
who's struggling because he's not only an athletic quarterback, he
only stayed a year in college, which he should have stayed.

(42:51):
Where if it's like someone like a Will Howard or
a Sam not even Sam Bath, that's not even a
good competision.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
Just in general, Stanley, if a team loses so they
might get a better draft pick in the NFL, I
have not seen that work. I mean, now, are we
in agreement here because you're it sounds like that's the
case you're making.

Speaker 8 (43:11):
No, that's that's the case I'm making. It just it
just doesn't make sense because nothing is guaranteed, and and
the other thing is too You got the media basically
harping on the team saying, oh, that quarterback was bad,
this un the third I'm like, you didn't give them
the time. You You got to understand, you got a
simple simplify things. That is why a guy like just like,

(43:35):
I mean Justin Feels is a terrible example, but I
mean he's something off the top of my head. You
got to understand they're put in situations where they're gonna fail.

Speaker 4 (43:42):
Because the only.

Speaker 8 (43:44):
Quarterback that's successful to my memory, that done very well
coming out of college was Matt Lyon in two thousand
and eight when he came out of DC. He got thrown.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
Yeah, he did well. He beat I covered that game.
He beat the Lions that day, and that was the
lionsone set team. I I covered Matt Ryan's first game
real quickly, Stanley, Uh, would you like to see a
group of five playoffs? And what are your thoughts quickly
on Urban Meyer?

Speaker 8 (44:10):
Well as a as a Gator fan. I mean Urban
Meyer's stakes are terrible now. I mean I kind of
really don't know. Listen, man, whether whether he had a
heart condition or not. I mean the man went to
go take an Ohio stay job and won a national
title his what second or thirty year, so so I
don't really care about his takes. And the other thing

(44:31):
is too, Bernie, you got to understand this. You got
to keep the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (44:35):
Where it is, like, yeah, because because you got because
it's more competition. The more the teams you put, the
more you're killing the excuse Yeah, killing the bowl games
something that I grew up on.

Speaker 8 (44:48):
And it just, you know what I'm saying, It just
it's just not just it's just just it just doesn't
make sense. It just it just hurts the brand. It
just hurts the product. To be one hundred percent honest
with you. And also, one take before you cut me off,
I mean not coming off, well, let me go. I
gotta say. Man officiating in the last six weeks of
the NFL, dating back to the Patriots against the Saints,

(45:09):
the officiating has been horrendous. And that Monday night game
was also another horrendous game by the referees where there
was a clear all these pass in advance and they
did not call it. I just don't know anymore. A
part of me is saying, oh, the NFL is fixed,
But at the same time, it's just like the associating
just stucks. That's all I'm gonna say.

Speaker 2 (45:28):
All right, Stanley, and I agree with the officiating part.
Glenn from Seattle, Welcome into the Bernie Frattle Show. We'll
start with the NFL tanking. Do you think it works?
Do you think it's a good idea or a bad idea?

Speaker 6 (45:40):
Hey, by the way, I love your show. Thank you
as I'm calling you. I think, man, thinking doesn't thinking
doesn't work. I just think the integrity of it is
just not good. You have no integrity when you tank,
and like you said, it doesn't guarantee, uh that you're

(46:01):
gonna get anybody good. And I like what the previous
caller said about Tom Brady because if people I can
said Tom Brady and Montana the two greatest quarterbacks ever
to play. But the thing about Tom Brady is he
sat for I think he sat for what two years
behind Drew was Drew not Drew Brees.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
A year and a half. And then Blessoe got hurt.
Yes he did, he did.

Speaker 6 (46:26):
Right and so and so by him sitting out, he
was ready when his time came, he was ready to go.
And he never relinquished his job after that. So I
agree with the previous colleague. You need to when you
get drafted. Just because you're drafting number one doesn't mean
you're gonna come in and just burn everything up. You're
gonna get a guy out there, no line in front
of you, You're gonna get killed. And then and then

(46:48):
his shot, his confidence is gonna be shot. Look at
look at okay, look at Sam Darnold from Seattle, you
know Seattle. Look at him. When he went to the Jets,
he get killed. And so he had to learn behind
certain people in San Francisco when he was there, and
he learned to be patient and all this other stuff.
And he's turned out to be a better quarterback. I'm

(47:08):
not going to say he's the greatest quarterback, but he
is a better quarterback. And we love him up here.
But now the playoffs, the group of five, this is,
this is what I would do. So you had you
had Notre Dame and by U, who I think were
deserving to be in the playoffs. So why not have them?
Have Notre Dame played Tulane for that last spot and

(47:31):
have b YU played James Madison for that last pot.

Speaker 2 (47:34):
That's not a bad idea. I think. I think you
ultimately get rid of the conference championship games and replace
him that weekend with play in games. Yeah, continue on,
But the point is a group of five playoffs by
itself would have no appeal to use. That is that
what I'm hearing.

Speaker 6 (47:50):
No, no, no, because no, no, no, you don't want
to do that. They deserve a shot to get in
and you never know that they one of these guys
might put together a great team that goes far in
the playoffs. You just you never know. But I think
they need to play. I need to they think. I
think they need to have a play in to prove

(48:11):
themselves against teams because, like I said, not the name
and by you deserve to be in the playoffs. But
let them play for it, let them play for those
last fives.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
Yeah, not about any all right, what is your opinion?
What is your image of urban Meyer at this stage
in his career.

Speaker 6 (48:29):
You know, I just think urban Meyer should just quietly
go away and just look. You're you won championship in
Florida and at OSU, So go away, relax, be with
your family, Stop trying to chime in, stop trying to
to be you know, to be relevant. You are relevant

(48:50):
you want already, So enjoy your championships and just leave
everything alone. Stop trying to be controversial.

Speaker 2 (48:59):
So you're basically we're kind of two for two. The
other guy because he was a Florida guy, so he
loved it Urban one, But at this stage he's he
doesn't have a lot of credibility with you, is what
I'm hearing. And I want to lead the witness, But
is that what I'm hearing?

Speaker 6 (49:13):
Yeah, because because you know, I think the game may
have already passed them by. So if he were to
get back into coaching again, who you know, he's not
going to stay where he's at. They'll build a program,
then they'll leave, or you know, it's just I think
the game has passed them by. There's so many young
coaches out that deserve a chance. Anyway, So just go relax,

(49:34):
Just relax, be with your family.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
Man, all right, thanks for checking in. Don't be a stranger, buddy.
Uh Spotswed from Oregon. We have to start with the usual,
spots Weed, what's your livation tonight.

Speaker 9 (49:47):
I'm just chilling with my favorite I Pa Union Jack
from Firestone.

Speaker 2 (49:51):
How happy new your young man? Happy new? You're back
at you? Okay, let's start with NFL tanking. I hate it.
It's that time of year where people are talking about it.
What are your thoughts? Does it work or not?

Speaker 6 (50:02):
I don't care if it works.

Speaker 9 (50:04):
I love it. Okay, I think I think that the
drama and all this stupid stuff that these Yeah, of
course it doesn't work, but everybody wants to know how
many games you're gonna lose. All the drama, all the
idiots out there trying to figure out if they're gonna
get Uh, well, this is the basketball women, Yama, and
I know you're talking to you know NBA. It works,

(50:25):
but you know if you're gonna get you know, the
next big quarterback. I think it's great drama. I think
it's really stupid, and I'm here for it. I'm all
over tanking. It's great.

Speaker 2 (50:37):
Interesting, what what what's the appeel that if you know
it doesn't work. I mean, the players are gonna play hard,
it's it's it's the front office that's believing they can
manipulate and thread the needle to get a better craft
choice by losing more games. And I don't see how
it ever works.

Speaker 7 (50:51):
Well, I know it.

Speaker 9 (50:52):
I know it doesn't work. But it's it's it's the drama,
it's the tomfoolery, it's it's the idiocy and some of
the kind of dig that.

Speaker 2 (51:02):
All right, that's good enough for me, all right. The
five playoffs? Do you have any thoughts on such a proposal.
It's been bandied about. I don't think it'll ever go anywhere. No,
I don't.

Speaker 9 (51:13):
I don't want to play the team. If I playoffs,
I think everybody should get a shot. James Madison had
had a shot. You know, frankly, the only way Oregon
State's ever.

Speaker 2 (51:22):
Going to get in there.

Speaker 9 (51:22):
If there's if there's a possibility of a non you know,
team playoff of a group of five, and all the
college football teams need to have a little bit of
hope so that anybody that is a fan of college football,
can you know, dream about something maybe, and I think
that they should just keep it the way the way
it is. If there's some blowouts, some blowouts, you know,

(51:43):
so what's just blowouts everywhere?

Speaker 6 (51:44):
Just like you talked about now.

Speaker 9 (51:46):
One of the things I'd like to interject before we
get to Urban my real quick. One of the best
quotes I think I've ever heard a coach from college
football say is Kurt Signatti. He said, I win google it.
That was a swag or move right there, I got it.
I got to say that, oh no.

Speaker 2 (52:03):
Doubt he was, Yeah, yes, fair enough. Nowhere to go
with that one? All right, your thoughts on Urban Myer?

Speaker 7 (52:10):
What now?

Speaker 10 (52:12):
Now?

Speaker 9 (52:13):
Urban Meyer he's the guy that decided not to fly
back with his team so he can chat up a
waitress in a bar somewhere. He's quick teams, uh, you know, oh,
I'm retired, I've got I've got pre frontal low problems
or something. And then he comes back to do something
else and then he, you know, kicks his his player
at the Jags and says, I'm the coach here.

Speaker 6 (52:34):
It has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Speaker 9 (52:37):
And frankly, I'm not a big Urban Meyer fan. And
he can go away into the good night, like your
other callers said. So that's that's my opinion. I think,
you know, it's kind of like, you know what your
legacy is the last game you won or you lost,
and uh, I kind of think Meyer has lost his credibility.
And that's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
All right, my man, enjoy that beverage and happy New Year,
and we'll talk to you again Jim and Massachusetts in
the cleanup spot tonight. Welcome in, Jim.

Speaker 7 (53:09):
Oh Burne, my god, you got to hook up a
breathalyze it to you. Your phone lines man anyway, Oh.

Speaker 2 (53:17):
My god, you're with as long as they're not driving.

Speaker 7 (53:21):
Yeah, so you're asking three questions and they're talking about
other stuff. It's like, don't you know what the questions? Anyway?

Speaker 2 (53:28):
I have a tendency to give people some latitude. Yeah,
go go ahead, Jim.

Speaker 7 (53:32):
Oh my god, I rather stick needles in my eyes
those people.

Speaker 2 (53:37):
Anyway.

Speaker 7 (53:38):
Tanking, Now, I'm not for that. That's stupid.

Speaker 11 (53:42):
Hey.

Speaker 7 (53:43):
If you're one percent of the population, like football players
and basketball players and everything, and you make it to
that level, you play, you don't sit out, you don't tank,
you don't do anything like that all the people that
support you, that pay for outrageous parking, that pay for
outrageous food, their pay rate and see to get there,
you show up and play. Kids are going to see

(54:05):
their favorite player and everything like that, and travel for miles.
I mean there's people that live in New England that
got not only New York Giants season tickets, they got
Dallas Cowboys season tickets. You show up and play. That's
what you're there for, this tank and always let's get
this guide. No, no, no, no, I'm totally against.

Speaker 2 (54:25):
Yeah, I'm with you. I cited bullet points why I've
I've never seen it work. So again, it's just an opinion.
But that's my opinion, all right. So this potential, it's
never going to happen. A group of five playoff idea
where they kind of have their own little playoff. I
think it's a bad idea. I don't think you'll ever
get off the ground. But what are your.

Speaker 7 (54:44):
Thoughts now, it's not going anywhere, Bernie. Wait until after
this format and they see all the money that's rolled in.
Just the way it is now, it's all about money,
you know, it shouldn't be about the fans and the product.
And everything, But it's all about the money and whose
pockets it goes in. And they're not going to change anything,
and they have a plan for that. They're gonna leave
it just the way it is until until they started

(55:04):
running a deficit, and they might look at other things,
but whenever it comes to something like this, just follow
the money. You know, Iran, he's a he's a looney
tom all right, Wow, we had his time. Yeah, we
had his time, and then all this other foolish stuff.
It goes to character, Brinny. You know, so one of

(55:28):
the if you're a great football coach, if you don't
have any character, nobody wants you around, you know. And
that's what happened to him. The idiot, Well, I.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
Gotta tell you. Look, he uh you know, he didn't
win at Florida but left an unceremonious fashion. One of
the house state but left it unceremonies fashion would flip me.
Jim was. He wrote a very good book called Above
the Line. I read it a couple of times. It's
about leadership. It's a very heavy book. But then when
I observed his demeanor and deportment with the Jacksonville Jaguars,
it didn't seem to follow any of those basic tenants

(55:59):
he laid out on a book, and that bothered me.
So I can't I can't not watch him without thinking that.
It's still like listening to him talk and et cetera.
But we're kind of forcing.

Speaker 7 (56:12):
You're exactly right, burning, You're exactly right, because he could
have won four national championships. But then after all the
stuff that's come out, that's all people think about.

Speaker 6 (56:21):
There's all you know, all.

Speaker 7 (56:22):
The stupid stuff he did, not about the other stuff.
So you just ought to just don't go away, man,
Just go away. You know, water, you plant, watch the
grass grow, and you know, have a good life.

Speaker 2 (56:33):
Hey, real quickly, I'm going to go off script for
you for one second because you mentioned leagues making money Thursday,
January ninth, which is sort of this ersats the facto
deadline the w NBA has set for maybe and I'm
gonna get in to this later. Apparently, this new econometric
model that's put forth, if the WNBA union got what
they wanted, according to a report for me as Pen,

(56:55):
the league would lose another seven hundred million dollars. You
think they're going to come to their senses or is
there going to be a strike in the w n
B A my nice, I know you don't care. I
don't care either. I'm begging for them to strike, you
know why, Then we'll find out how valuable they really are.
If you want to say, Okay, you win, we need you,
We got to have you back. We're gonna find out

(57:17):
for real what you already know the answer.

Speaker 7 (57:20):
But you know what's going to happen. I'll tell you
exactly what's gonna happen if they striking it. Oh, you're
you're against you're against women, and you know you're against minorities,
and you're against the type of sexual life we lead.
And that's that's a bernie. You have no idea how
that stuff. That's the world we live in right now.

(57:40):
You have no idea how that's gonna mushroom and everything
like that. But let just walk because you know it'll
be They'll be rand and raven for about a month
or so and then everybody will move on.

Speaker 6 (57:50):
Just they not it was.

Speaker 2 (57:51):
The Division one athlete jims. You played Division one soccer
and and so they can they can put out any
BS narrative they want to. Uh, you don't have a
guy given right to lose money for three decades and
then demand that your play is tripled and get a
percentages and pace what we owe, unless, of course, you're
the w NBA.

Speaker 7 (58:10):
So Bernie, Bernie, Well, I'm just going to leave you
with this one thing. I rest for thirty five years,
and I got to tell you what I love doing
women's games basketball soccer. It didn't matter, you know why,
because you talk about trash talking. You have no idea
you think guys are good at that. No, no way,

(58:31):
no way. I used to love doing the game.

Speaker 6 (58:33):
Let them play, you know.

Speaker 7 (58:34):
It's it's because a lot of them are going to,
you know, make it to the big times. I did
playoff games and everything like that, and you know, and
and divisional state games and stuff. Oh the way the
girls talk to you stuff I've never even heard, you know.
I was like, I've never heard that before.

Speaker 2 (58:50):
Would that one come from?

Speaker 6 (58:51):
You know?

Speaker 7 (58:52):
But all right, Jim, love women's sports. I love what
they do. But the fires at w NBA by nice talking, Yeah,
I love.

Speaker 2 (59:00):
I have a lot of respect for women's sports too,
But you don't get to play Mickey the Dunce just
because you say you do. Eight seven seven nine nine,
six six three six nine, eight, seven, seven, nine to
nine on Fox. Let's hear from you So far, we're
like four for four on Urban Meyer. No one likes
the group of playoffs, and we've got some interesting comments

(59:20):
on tanking. So we're just getting started on the Midnight
Hour h Letter Rip. The callers are what make this
segment fly eight seven, seven, nine nine six six three
six nine eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. For
the best pregame show every weekend, be sure to tune

Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right, We're back

(01:00:08):
on the Bernie Fraddle Show Fox Sports Radio eight seven, seven, nine, nine,
six six three sixty nine eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox the Midnight Hour. I rackus Midnight Hour is
off and running. We're talking about NFL tanking. I don't
think it works. One player cannot guarantee success. Uh. The
draft is a very uncertain, fickle thing. It's been suggested

(01:00:31):
a group of five playoffs in college football. Bad idea.
I think the listeners agree. Urban Meyer, what is your
image of Urban Meyer in his topsy turvy life in
the last twenty five years? Poppy in San Diego, Welcome
in Poppy. How are you, buddy?

Speaker 6 (01:00:47):
Hey, I'm going buddy goody.

Speaker 11 (01:00:49):
Think about good good guys. You're doing good over here.
Beautiful Tande was like raning, So be safe about that
for look about thinking. I really love it, Bernie, because look,
as a better we want to get that inside information
the teams are gonna take.

Speaker 7 (01:01:03):
It's gonna help.

Speaker 11 (01:01:04):
Us and like, yeah, they've been doing it for years
and stuff like that. But you know, I really like it.
I think that the reason.

Speaker 7 (01:01:12):
Now finally the Raiders they're.

Speaker 11 (01:01:13):
Tanking, so we know what that's gonna happen. So sports better.
I really love Kansas City minus five and a half.
That's my bet they're gonna tak them because you.

Speaker 7 (01:01:20):
Know, Mark David, you should have done that.

Speaker 11 (01:01:22):
Long time ago. And like the Raiders, they need a
quarterback and pictures.

Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
That they need everything poppy, my guys. I'm concerned for
Fernando Mendoza if the poor guy ends up here. They
don't block, they don't tackle, they don't do anything except
go on the radio and cheer each other on. I mean,
it's silly.

Speaker 11 (01:01:40):
Yeah, and he should be like, you know, calling and
like Viva Mexico, like he says in the interview, is
his stuff. He's landin heritage. So so yeah, I'm interested,
like to see what's gonna happen. Who the Raiders are
gonna take. They're gonna be the number one team. Thinking
about tanking, guys, and next about group.

Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
Of five playoffs?

Speaker 11 (01:02:03):
Yeah, the players, it really doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (01:02:06):
You know.

Speaker 11 (01:02:06):
Color earlier was saying about the you know college it's
all a business. Yeah, it's all a business and stuff
like that. I really don't care about it. They're gonna
do five, real dad, they'll be interested. Hey, make it
like the World Cup and making some four groups.

Speaker 7 (01:02:20):
I'll be interesting, you know, like.

Speaker 11 (01:02:21):
Hey why not? And uh, the other thing about urban Myers,
there's urban Myers, Like I really don't care, you know
about Urban Myers. He's doing he he had his time
to shine, and you know, like right now it's kind
of it's good. He's doing it for clickbait and social
media and stuff like that, putting to put his name
out there because I think he's a smart guy. He's

(01:02:43):
putting out there. There's going to be NFL job conspiracy.
He wants to put his name out there, so we're
shaking himself though. Good job on him on that, and
then with the w n b A, you know, with
that stuff on describe. Yeah, it's all mumbo jumbo this
and that. At the end of the day, these women
are gonna get the Jill done and Clayton Clarks he's

(01:03:03):
gonna be the latter and she's gonna have a meeting.
You know, players unitic guy. You guys are gonna take
this offer like.

Speaker 7 (01:03:09):
Getting you guys the best.

Speaker 11 (01:03:10):
Let's just take it and work the negotiation a couple
of years from now. And I mean, I think they're gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
We'll see what happens. Thursday is a key day. I
don't know, I don't think the lever straight. I don't know.
I'm just hoping they do. All right, Poppy, thanks a lot,
Jimmy from Boston. Welcome into the Bernie frowns Er Horria.

Speaker 12 (01:03:27):
Hey Bernie, how you doing? The Irving Mayer? He just
say he's news, So I got nothing on him. I
really care left about him.

Speaker 2 (01:03:35):
You do know he's a prominent fixture on Big newon
Kickoff in Fox, and he's a prominent fixture on Colin
Coward Show. And he does make a multi million dollar
salary every year. So he may or may not be
Yesterday's news, depending on it. But your answer kind of
tells tells me how you feel.

Speaker 12 (01:03:53):
Yeah, I mean, fair enough, but I don't let's put
this weight break my call. I always say I'm not
a college college football guy, anyhow I look this way,
you know. So Anyways, like I said, I don't waste
time on him in terms of the college football but
I wish they went back to the bulls or some
like I said, I think they makes the mockery of
the system and the playoff every time they don't think themselves,

(01:04:14):
they make think the system longer, more complicated or dissatisfying.
And I just wish they just went back to these
bull system all and not playd bulls are are are mocked,
they're ignored, they're ridiculed, and it just studs. My whole
system is worked, you know. And uh So anyway, my
main point is the tanker. And to me, I'm a

(01:04:37):
guy that when you play it straight and always, things
will always work out better. And and uh, I hate
to say it. Uh Philadelphia seventy six is with the process.
How does that work out?

Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
That's been going on what twelve years now? Ten years?

Speaker 10 (01:04:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 12 (01:04:54):
And also I'm a paid I'm in Boston the Patriots
two years ago. If you remember, Girodmeo got.

Speaker 11 (01:05:00):
Sack and the fans were living living that he won
the last game.

Speaker 12 (01:05:04):
We had Buffalo and Watt on the first first pick
of the draft, we had to set up for number four.
It wasn't a shame. We had to set up for
a quarterback named Drake May and uh, like I said,
you know, you got to play straight and let the
chips followed in May a little Bernie so to me
down on tanking, Buddy, and I hope you have a
great night.

Speaker 2 (01:05:25):
All right, thanks a lot, Jimmy and Boston appreciate you. Uh.
Dave in Phoenix, former mission guy, how are you Dave,
what's up man?

Speaker 5 (01:05:33):
Well, Hi, Bernie.

Speaker 13 (01:05:34):
Three good topics tonight, maybe four. As far as tanking,
I don't really like it, but I certainly understand it.
I'll give you an example. We're back in the mid sixties.

Speaker 6 (01:05:46):
The Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 13 (01:05:48):
Had a terrible team. They were coached by the former
Notre Dame coach Joe Q. Harrick and beat I believe
they upset the Lions on Thanksgiving Day, and because they
did that, they were very unhappy to win that game,
because that meant they didn't get to draft O. J. Simpson,
so they could have used them tanking that day.

Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
Well, and fair enough, fair enough. He went on to
Buffalo ran for two thousand yards. But it's all theoretical
in that just because you think you get this guy
that is going to change your world, it's almost impossible
to do on a fifty three man roster because you
got so many other moving parts. That's my point, right.

Speaker 13 (01:06:30):
And if you go to basketball, you look at the
famous coin flip where the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Phoenix
Suns to get Kareem and just think of that and
simply come down to who had the worst record. How
hard would those two teams be trying to lose at
the end of the states.

Speaker 2 (01:06:46):
So, okay, that's NBA. And when I made my point
in the NBA, you know, the Lakers got Magic Johnson,
and the irony is I was there that day and
check her and lost his mind. He wanted him to
draft City Monkrey, but Magic Bird even Lebron, who I'm
not a fan of, but they drafted him. He went
to Cleveland. It worked, but it doesn't work typically in

(01:07:10):
the NFL. I can't name a time where it's worked.
So that's that was kind of where I was going
with that.

Speaker 6 (01:07:15):
Okay.

Speaker 13 (01:07:16):
Now, as far as urban Meyer goes, I'm not a
real big fan of urban Meyer, especially going back to
when he was coaching at Ohio State and he had
an assistant coach whose behavior was unfortunately kind of like
Sharon Moors, and he covered up for that guy. I'm
sure you know that story.

Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
Of course, that's all back ten years. Yeah.

Speaker 13 (01:07:38):
Yeah, But as bad as Urban is, I have to
say this as a Michigan fan, he's not as disgraceful
as Dave Cotnery.

Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Well. Well, here's the deal. I read Urban's book. It's
called Above the Line, it's a superbly written book. And
this is a guy that repeated success in bowling Green, Utah, Florida,
and Ohio State. And his book is it's almost gen
it's from the standpoint it would apply to business and corporations.
But then three years after, four years after he writes

(01:08:07):
the book, he goes and coaches at Jacksonville Jaguars. And
when I hear about his behavior in de Portman there
and there's things I've heard in my NFL circles you
wouldn't believe. I'm like, who is this guy? Sure? I
brought I brought up the topic tonight, Dave, because he
you know, he took a lot of heat for his
Ohio State prediction and how they would stuff Miami and

(01:08:28):
Miami you know, wouldn't be able to score, et cetera.
The point is, if people were lining up to bash
him so quickly and readily, what's his image these days?
That's why I put the topic out there.

Speaker 13 (01:08:39):
Go ahead, right, But you could also say, you know,
Nick Saban picked Alabama and they got killed. All these
guys picked the teams that they used to coach or whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:08:49):
That's true too, but Urban's had a few more besides
that one. Yes, more all right, we didn't talk about
the group of five potential playoffs, which I think is
a horrible idea, but it was banning about your thoughts.

Speaker 13 (01:09:01):
Yeah, I think it's a bad idea. I think it's
fine to have one team from the group of five
in the twelve team playoffs or fourteen or sixteen team
playoff that we're going to have very soon. The thing is,
this year was a flip. You had two group of
five teams get in there simply because Virginia couldn't win
that ACC title game and Duke was in there with

(01:09:24):
five losses, so they almost have to take James Madison,
as you know, another group of five team. But next
year they've already solved a couple of those problems. And
I don't know if this is for the better or not,
but they've already said next year, the four power conferences
are guaranteed to get their champion in, So Duke would
have been in this year, and then also Notre Dame.

Speaker 10 (01:09:46):
If they're in the top.

Speaker 13 (01:09:47):
Twelve, they're automatically in. So you could have had Notre
Dame and Duke easily in this year.

Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
Yeah, I think that'll get corrected and I don't think
there should be any more buyers, Dave. I think he's
a top four. I think your top four seeds should
get two home games if they win.

Speaker 13 (01:10:04):
Maybe so right, But also if that format had been
there this year, you'd have had Duke and Notre Dam
in and Miami would be out.

Speaker 2 (01:10:13):
Which would have been a damn shame. Will Miami being
out here, Dame the Notre Dame deserved to be in
either exactly. Although I'm gonna give my handicapping later, but
I think Old miss is gonna beat Miami, all right, Dave,
good stuff, Gret. I gotta say you. The WNBA things
come up a couple times, and I'm gonna have a
commentary on that a little bit later. But Thursday is January.

(01:10:35):
Check that Friday's January ninth, and that's sort of this
de facto date where a lot of things can happen
if they don't have a deal by it. Remember, their
damn season doesn't even start to like June. So but
the rhetoric is so stupid. Eight seven, seven, nine, nine
six six three six ninth, So still time to get
in on the midnight hour. The NFL tanking a group

(01:10:57):
of five tournament not a good idea? And what's your
image on Urban Meyer? It's amazing no one's really stuck
up for Urban Meyer yet. By the way, with the

(01:11:40):
show On Fox Sports. Radio How we're back on The
Bernie Fratle Show Fox Sports, radio wrapping up on the midnight,
HOUR nfl Tanking group of five? Playoff and what is
your image Of Urban? Meyer clayton From tennessee joins the.
Show welcome, In, Clayton hey, man how are. You i'm?

Speaker 14 (01:12:02):
Fine how are you? Doing bernie?

Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
Good thank you.

Speaker 14 (01:12:05):
Good as far AS nfl, TANKING i just you, KNOW
i sometimes wish we could just change the whole draft.
Process i'm waiting to see you remember The high farmarre
you go back in, football BUT i think it was
the eighty three draft when always basically Told der, says
if you draft, Me i'm going to play.

Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
BASEBALL i, remember like, Yesterday.

Speaker 14 (01:12:28):
Yes, Yeah i'm, Like i'm waiting to see a quarterback
with the balls to do.

Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
That. Well, well and don't Forget Eli manning did it.
Too he didn't want to go to The, chargers ended
up going to The New York. GIANTS i don't think
it would happen.

Speaker 14 (01:12:42):
Today, yeah that's that's just.

Speaker 5 (01:12:45):
It the.

Speaker 14 (01:12:45):
Culture it's not. ABOUT i, mean if you're waiting for
the right, guy what needs to change first is the
culture of the team very.

Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
Much, so, YES i feel sorry.

Speaker 14 (01:12:54):
For this kid From indiana when he if he goes
to The, raiders he's just going to get the crack
kicked out of. Him that's such just sad. Truth they're
not gonna do, anything you, know just afford. Him it's gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
Bell and the flip side of the corn Of clayton
is the notion that The, Raiders, uh this would be
so wonderful if they ended with the number one pick
is if they don't screw it, up and even if
they get the guy they, want there's no guarantee of
success because they need to backfill in so many other.
Positions and in THE, nfl AS i said, earlier it's
a fifty three man. Roster it's not like THE nba

(01:13:27):
where you got five players on the floor and one
guy can make a difference day. One. Yeah. True so the,
NOTION i just, think the notion that you can thread
the needle and manipulate this to where there's the guy
we want, them we got. Them so what are your
thoughts on a potential group of five playoffs which we
both know will never.

Speaker 14 (01:13:45):
HAPPEN i, say if you're gonna do, that then you
need To And i'm An alabama, fan but you need
to Tell, alabama you need to Tell, georgia you need
to Tell Ohio state and anybody else it wants to
play these podunk teams to stop playing.

Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
Them all? Right thoughts on urban mayor what is his
image in your? Eyes?

Speaker 14 (01:14:10):
Uh intelligence coach to some. DEGREE i don't know what
he was doing In, jacksonville but controversy things to follow
him everywhere he. Goes BUT i hate to talk about
Somebody i've never met face to, face but that's what's
my observation of. HIM i guess.

Speaker 2 (01:14:29):
This, yeah that's all you can do is just give
you give an opinion based on, what yes you. See
you know.

Speaker 14 (01:14:33):
He's a smart. Guy as far AS i guess, coaching,
well it's LIKE i used to work with people that
played Under paul Bear bryant WHEN i was In, alabama
and they they said that guy could get those kids
to do anything he. Wanted that's that charisma that certain coaches,
have AND i would say he probably had. That BUT

(01:14:56):
i never could figure out what he did In, jacksonville
Bringing Tim kboean and all that that MISS i don't understand.
That well he.

Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
Did he lasted nine or ten, games and now you're
bringing a Guy liam cohenan in one year on the
short list to go to the Super. Bowl so it
has a tendency to skew one's one thoughts of Opens all, Right,
clayton appreciate you call. IT i don't be a, Stranger
martin From. California you are on The Bernie Frider, Show.

Speaker 10 (01:15:26):
Bernie greetings and. Salutations ALL i want to say is
with this College. PLAYOFF i agree with. You there should
be some home games and no. Buyes The bay rounds
just seem to BE i don't know part of the.
Problem the other part is THAT i don't like what

(01:15:48):
people are complaining about the little schools Like Too langing
And James madison getting in the, tournament because if that's the,
case why are we going to play the. Season let's
just pick the twelve biggest name and throw them in
a hat and everyone else can play.

Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
Football, yeah, see you're Exactly you're exactly. RIGHT i had
this conversation four years ago When cincinnati went. Undefeated what
sport in the world can you go undefeated when your
conference and have no opportunity because of capricious, scenario arbitrary
reasons to participate in a postseason. Tournament you have to
give teams a, Chance James madison in their, chance and

(01:16:25):
then whatever happens is whatever happens you just, said WOULD
i believe go, Ahead.

Speaker 10 (01:16:30):
Martin completely agree with, You, bernie and on the, TANKING
i understand why people would do, It but in the
sport of, FOOTBALL i agree with. You there's not just
one player that's going to change an, organization and especially
when you're drafting towards the. Top that means you have
more than one. Beam, now if The raiders wanted a

(01:16:51):
tank for that one pick and then try to parlay
that into a couple of first rounds and maybe a
couple of second, rounds THEN i get. That but to, say,
hey we're gonna Take mendoza and this is gonna be
the way our franchise is gonna turn. Around, honestly If I'm,
Mendoza i'd be, SICK i guessing my. Talent if The
raiders took, Me i'd be, like what the hell's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
Here AND i, think, yeah go, ahead, yeah go, Ahead,
Martin oh.

Speaker 10 (01:17:17):
Yeah Yeah. No, now the thing With Urban meyer man
is WHAT i think is that he's a. Winner he's a, Winner.
Bernie he wins in. Football but THEN i try to, think,
like is he putting winning above? Everything BECAUSE i focus
on what was happening at The university Of florida and
he had a troubled young man there that had addiction

(01:17:38):
problems and was stacking up bodies like, crazy and he
turned a blind eye because this kid was An All
american and was helping him up the national. Rankings we
all know who this kid was and he was a.
Problem And i'm not Saying Urban meyer could have helped,
him but maybe he's gonna stirred him in the right.
Direction i'm getting a little emotional about this BECAUSE i

(01:17:59):
know a lot of these football players out there with
THEIR cte and they have their problems and they need Guidance.
Bernie And i'm just gonna borrow a learne From keybo
BEFORE i exit this program and say he needs to
be a leader of. Men iron sharpens. Iron IF i
had a, boy he wouldn't be going To Urban myers

(01:18:19):
program to. PLAY i love, You. Bernie i'm out of,
here all.

Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
Right thanks for checking, In, martin and thanks for all
the callers checking in. TONIGHT i just think in the
eyes of a lot of, Folks Herby meyer will always
have A tanton. IMAGE i don't want to go into
The Aaron hernanda singh. Er what happened Was Zack smith
At Ohio. State you can all google it and find
out for. Yourself he sings a follower Of. Meier. Again
what turned me a little bit was his book was,
brilliant but WHEN i heard what happened To, jacksonville his

(01:18:46):
demeanor and his, support but didn't seem to match what
he wrote about in his Book i'm dead set AGAINST nfl.
Tanking remember to suck For luck and tank For. Tua
how'd that work?

Speaker 6 (01:18:58):
Out?

Speaker 2 (01:18:59):
Now unlike THE, nba where one superstar can transform a franchise,
again AN nfl team has fifty three. Players you got
to have a complete cohesive. System you've got to have competent,
leadership you have to have great, coaching, talent, blocking tackling.
Everything and the draft is very. Uncertain it's a. Crampshoot
there are no sure. Things many highly drafted players fail

(01:19:20):
to live up to their. Potential johnny Manziel, well by the,
way Brock party was the last guy. Drafted Lamar jackson
was thirty second. Overall he's done pretty. Well he's three
and five of the, playoffs but he's had a good.
Career it's been AN. Mvp so the notion that you
got to get somebody, first show me where it's, worked
and then The group of five, playoffs it just isn't

(01:19:41):
ever going to. Happen the notion is that people just
simply won't watch. It The Boise states of the. World
they want to play for the, big big, prize and
you'd still have blowouts even in that tournament as, well
so great job to all the callers tonight as, usual
appreciate all your thoughts and very different opinions coming. Up let'
switch to THE. Nba Mark, Medina Medina, magic keep it.

(01:20:04):
Locked you're listening to The Bernie Frattle show On Fox Sports.
Radio that's, right you heard the. Man Bernie Frattles show
keeps rolling right. Along my name Is Bernie. Fraddlewick killing
You lyne from The Fox Sports radio. Studios take you
up to three In, pacific six Am. Eastern fantastic. Job
great appreciation to all the midnight callers who called, in

(01:20:26):
AND i know some folks styled. In it was. Busy
please try again next. Week we want to hear from
as mini folks as we. Can but it's time to switch.
Cares THE nba season starting to take. Shape three simple.
Words it's that. Time Mark, medena Our Fox Sports RADIO nba,
guru also a writer For Essentially, sports joins us Every

(01:20:49):
saturday night heading Into sunday morning at this time on
The Bernie Frattle. Show, mark good, Evening good, morning how are.

Speaker 15 (01:20:55):
You i'm doing Well at another fun day WEEK ofba
actional Witness Jalen brown get his career high fifty, points
so joys something in the association in one didn't talk.

Speaker 2 (01:21:07):
About, yeah he's been balling. Out boston's actually. COMPETING i
don't know that they're on the short list to win a,
championship but you, know Given Jason tatum's, injury BUT i
admire what you know they've gotten after it this.

Speaker 15 (01:21:20):
Year, well, look With Jason tatum's injury as well as
Chrisofs porzingis And Drew holliday getting traded because of financial,
reasons we thought that they would be at the bottom
of the standings with The Indiana, pacers but said they're
in third. Place they're only half a game behind The
New York knicks for second, place three games behind The
pistons for. First SO i still would give the edge

(01:21:40):
of The, pissons but The South steven playing. Well Clearly
Jalen brown's been on another. Level but just just think
about This. Berdie they, lost not just WHO i mentioned
With Jayson tatum with his achilles, injury Chrisofs porzingi's True,
Holiday Al, Horford Georgia. Sniang now they have all these
random role, players you, know having elevated. Roles you, Know Derek,

(01:22:02):
Whites Gray Peyton, pritcher But Anthony, Simon Sam, Hawser Jordan
watsh this team should not be in their. Place but
tussam As, A Joean brown bringing his game to another,
Level Joe mizoula being a really good head, coach AND
i think all these role players being the best versions
of themselves just playing really well as the.

Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
Team, well you mentioned The, pistons and The pistons come
to mind team near and dear to my heart many.
Years but watch them toy with The lakers the other,
night and we're to the point of the season now
where you stats start to. Matter in five key defensive,
metrics the ranker The lakers ranked twenty, fourth twenty seven
to twenty sixth last and opponent three point percentage defensively

(01:22:45):
and appointed field goal percentage they ranked twenty. Sixth This laker,
defense it's no longer a. Joke it's not a laughing matter.
Anymore what are your? Thoughts do they have any hopes
on patchiness? Together because with all due, Respect, mark it's
pretty Obvious i've isolated On. Luca he can't play. Defense
he can't play. Defense you got the.

Speaker 15 (01:23:05):
Floor, WELL i agree with. You the defense isn't, terrible
but they are a. Joke they are a laughing matter
because they've been so awful, defensively and the blame high
goes all around that the efforts should be. Better Whether
Luca doctor is just one hundred percent healthy or, not
whether he's playing heavy offensive you, know role or, not that's.

(01:23:30):
Irrelevant he needs to at least try, defensively and the
beginning of the season The lakers are talking about how
he was doing. That excuse, Me, bernie okay With Austin.

Speaker 6 (01:23:40):
Reeves now he's.

Speaker 15 (01:23:41):
Out that doesn't Help Lebron, james you, know being a
shell of himself defensively at age forty one doesn't. Help
but they got some defensive reinforcements With Marcus smart to try,
to you, know add some intensity, here and even to a,
man he's been. Fine it just really hasn't had any

(01:24:03):
trickle down. Effects so what can they. Do, yeah they
can make like a marginal move to Get Kean allis
from The sacramento, things but that's not a game. CHANGER
i think really what's going to happen is trying to
at least be competitive enough to be a playoff team
that gets the second, round and then make durastic changes
Once Lebron james presumably retires and they'll have some actual

(01:24:26):
cap space to Get giannis if he's still.

Speaker 2 (01:24:28):
Available all, right let's talk About. Lebron he continues to
take up way too much here in the. Room but we,
know we knew that was going to, happen and you
know there are three there are only three possibilities For
lebron at this. Point retire which is a zero leave
for another team in free, agency which is, possibility or

(01:24:48):
could you possibly envision BECAUSE i can't this turned back
to clock to twenty. Fourteen Dirk nowitsky turned down a
ninety two million dollar OFFER i believe for either The
lakers Or rockets to stay With, dallas and he signed
a three year deal eight eight million a, year three
year deal at eight many a. Year would you Anticipate
lebron would be willing to do something like that and

(01:25:10):
would The lakers even want him because he's in the.

Speaker 15 (01:25:12):
Way, YEAH i don't see it. HAPPENING i, Mean lebron
took a pay cut to join The Miami heat when
he teamed up With Dwayne wade And Chris, bosh but
that was because he was still in the prime of his.
Career he hadn't won a championship. Yet since, then he's
been on the mind that he's not in the business
of taking pay. Cuts and you, know in, fairness he

(01:25:33):
knows that he's a really great player and he generates
a lot of. Revenue he hasn't made any public sentiment about,
that but he has made it clear that he's not
going to stick around THE nba just to be a
role player a, while like What Vince carter did to
play twenty TWO nba. Season SO i, think, really even
though there's a lot of, UNCERTAINTY i talked to some

(01:25:54):
people around the league before It sporty first, birthday some,
scouts assistant. Coaches no one knows truly what he's going to.
Do some think He's they still he still wants to
have that barewell tour for an entire.

Speaker 6 (01:26:06):
Season you.

Speaker 15 (01:26:08):
Know another coach, said, hey you know he should go
to The warriors because you, know he would join a
pass heavy system and you know him playing With Steph
curry is nice and you, know as much as the
chemistry is okay With Luka, doncic he's a ball dominant.
Player but IF i had to take a, GUESS i
think this is the last season and it's just going

(01:26:29):
to be one of those things that both parties are
better off involved for it to end this way so
that both parties can move. Forward The lakers continue to
build a roster Around Luka doncic and making even better,
moves And Lebron, james you, know transitioning to the next
steps of his post basketball career and then, involves you,
know trying to tap into an ownership grouping and be

(01:26:51):
involved as a. Businessman different end of These, Mark can.

Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
You really see him setting his ego aside and riding
off into this sutset and not getting a farewell tour
Like kareem Abdul. Jabbar did you know he wants?

Speaker 15 (01:27:05):
That he, well he's Saying, bertie he wants to have
a farewell, Tour but you know, what he also has
wanted The lakers to make different roster moves to give
himself a better chance to win a. Championship and The
lakers have, said you know, what as much as they
want to win a, title it's about also protecting the
long term future so that they don't have a gutted.
Roster so What i'm getting At bertie Is lebron, has you,

(01:27:28):
know had a great, career but the last few, years
with the exception of Having Browny james on this, team
there's a lot of things that hasn't gone his. Way
so just because he wants it doesn't mean it's going to.
Happen so WHAT i think is that if he wants
the farewell, tour he would have to for an entire.
Season he would have to come back next season with

(01:27:48):
an even more reduced, role a bigger pay, cut AND
i don't think he wants to do. That so it's
a matter, of you, know what is it important enough
to go through an entire, Season and, FRANKLY i don't
think it is for.

Speaker 2 (01:28:00):
Him talking With Mark Medina Medina Magic, Our Fox Sports
RADIO Nba, guru, uh If lebron wants a farewell tour
so bad with The Cleveland cavaliers out to, do let's face,
it it's where he. STARTED i even saw him play
a high school game At Saint Vincent Saint. Mary's he
can come back play one year there for three point

(01:28:22):
three million if he wants it so, bad, right and
he can be a role player because he's. Not he's
a glorified role player, NOW i, mean let's just be.
Honest you watch, him watch him, Play. OKAY i Saw
kareem Abdul jabar in THE Nba finals in nineteen eighty
nine at age forty two million times more effective Than
lebron is right.

Speaker 15 (01:28:40):
Now, yeah, well look, again he might want a farewell,
tour but not enough to take a huge. Discount and,
well but what's the.

Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
Money at this, Point he's almost a. Billionaire why would
he need? More why would he need? Both he can't
have his cake and eat it, too can't. He.

Speaker 15 (01:28:55):
YEAH i don't think it's about how he needs all this.
MONEY i mean maybe in some respect if he wants
to be part of a super, group every dollar. ACCOUNTS
i think it's just more like with ANY nba, superstar
they want to leave the way they entered the league
where they were the guy on the. Team you're seeing
him at their. Best so, YEAH i don't think he's
in that. Business the other, thing the WHOLE i mean

(01:29:15):
here mentioned about how he's not the same. PLAYER i
actually asked a scout in light of you know again
forty first birthday game perspective on his fit With luca
And Austin reeves and what they make, of you, know
success failure in his father. Time AND i, asked you
know a few, people including The, scout what are some
examples that really capture That lebron is not the same

(01:29:38):
player as he once was in his. Prime and he,
said watch any of his defensive. Clips you'll see it
requires to play defense in THE nba and be good at,
it And lebron is. It and he just mentioned like
he doesn't get back in the. Play his weak side
defense is. Bad he just points out two teammates what to.
Do he'll got the occasional, rebound you, know a close out,

(01:29:58):
block but he's not really getting after. It so you, know,
again it's not like he's playing terrible per. Se he's
still putting up respectable numbers at least to make An
All star. Team but it's not impacting. Winning and that's
the key. Thing when he was playing for most of his,
career he was always impacting. Winning he was always carrying

(01:30:19):
a team and he's not doing that this.

Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
Year last thing about, this but it is. Newsworthy So
Rob bolinka made the statement, quote we would love If
lebron's story would be to retire as A. Laker that
seems completely vacuous to. Me how does that? Look is
he's going to bring him back next? Year is he
going to want him to retire this year as A?
Laker how does that? Look how does that manifest itself

(01:30:43):
as a practical matter at this?

Speaker 15 (01:30:44):
Point, WELL i think you had to take it in
the literal. Sense he just said it would be a
nice ending for him to retire as A. Laker but
that didn't mean he said it would be a nice
ending if he stayed for another. YEAR i think what
he's insinuating is it'd be nice if you end your basketball.

Speaker 7 (01:31:00):
Career after the.

Speaker 15 (01:31:00):
Season so that's the Way i've.

Speaker 2 (01:31:01):
Interpreted, okay that's. Fair that's WHY i thought the statement was.
Vacuous but you know he fair, enough all. Right Draymond
green gets a couple of technicals and is ejected Again saturday,
night and frankly The warriors need. Him, okay but this,
IS i guess a mundane. Question will this ever? End

(01:31:23):
what what is it going to take to fix this?
Guy The commission doesn't seem to. Care Steve kerr just
really AND i have a lot of respect For Steve,
kerr but he's clearly an enabler at this. Point what
do you?

Speaker 15 (01:31:33):
Do, yeah you really can't do much of. ANYTHING i,
Mean Draymond green is who he is at this. Point you,
know THE nba has rules if you get sixteen technical,
fouls you get a one game. Suspension so it's not
like THE nba is not doing. Anything they have that
for every. Player but, yeah he's got him gotten a.
Lot he's already at nine this. SEASON i think when

(01:31:54):
you look At draymond's track, record he usually toes the
line before he came the sixteenth. Technical now there is
the infamous exception when you, know in twenty sixteen he
had a serve that one game suspension the finals because
of all, That but that wasn't arguing with the. Refs
that was a you, know Play Iron Lebron james where

(01:32:17):
he got called for it and he would adomly disagree
to it to this day because he Felt lebron, was you,
know he was stepping over him and he didn't like.
That so but that, aside even Though draymond clearly always goes,
overboard towes the, line always argues with the refs when
he does get close to, sixteen he suddenly restrains, himself

(01:32:40):
and SO i suspect that will be the same thing moving.

Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
Forward well well Sair EN I talt With Mark Medina Medina,
magic A Fox sports radio guru also writer For Essentially.
Sports All, Right Mark, friday Is january. Ninth this is
becoming a bit more of a. Story and that is
the collective bargaining agreement between the DOUBLE unba and their players'.
Association it expires in about five, days AND i REALLY

(01:33:06):
i get. It If january ninth comes and goes without
a new, agreement it DOESN'T i, mean the season is
not slated to start for five, months and et, cetera et.
Cetera but the rhetoric now is getting, worse and we
are now we've not been made aware courtesy OF, espn
that if the players got what they wanted based on
their current, proposal the league would lose seven hundred million

(01:33:26):
dollars next year based on their econometric. Model do you
still believe cooler heads are going to prevail because the
league is beating its, chest the players are really beating their.

Speaker 15 (01:33:36):
Chest, YEAH i think horror heads are going to. Prevail
What i've learned when it comes TO cba, negotiations possible,
lockouts deadlines mean. Nothing they just throw that out there
to try to cast you, know this sense of urgency
or you, know point of no. Return but they often
break those, deadlines and, ultimately you, know once they actually

(01:33:59):
have to start the, season they then. Prevailed now you might, counter,
hey well THE nba had that lockout in twenty, eleven
they still missed the beginning of the. Season but you
know what they, did they made sure that they still
got Those christmas games in time because that's usually when
people tune.

Speaker 6 (01:34:14):
In so what does this mean to THE.

Speaker 15 (01:34:16):
Wnba they're not going to miss any games in the
season because they know it's a different. Circumstance they have
some upwards momentum with women's basketball, popularity and they know
that any game that's, missed it's going to be not
just loss of revenue and money for both, sides but
loss of attention span because it's going to be out of,
sight out of. Mind SO i know that they say

(01:34:37):
This january nine, deadline But i'm not buying. It if
they go past, it they'll eventually have the cooler heads
prevailed so that they still start the season on.

Speaker 2 (01:34:46):
Time, martin why DRE i made my debut in radio
in the summer ninety four because of my baseball, BACKGROUND
i covered the. Strike they set a date Of august,
eleventh and they stuck to it and canceled The World.
Series if these folks were really we're really, serious they
should have struck before THE, nba before THE Wnba, finals
when they may have had whatever little leverage they wish they.

(01:35:06):
Had they don't have any. Leverage, mark no one will
missed this league if it goes. Away in two thousand and,
THREE i believe it was they threatened to, strike And
lawrence And briant said, Strike, well shut you down. Tomorrow we're.

Speaker 10 (01:35:15):
Done, well here's the.

Speaker 15 (01:35:17):
Thing i'll slightly push back in the SENSE i only
the players can't afford to have this. Lockout but to
say there's no, LEVERAGE i, MEAN i would argue that
the leverage is the same way why the, player the
same reason why the players should feel. Vulnerable the league
should also feel vulnerable because they know that never in
the history of THE wnba has a league bit more,

(01:35:38):
popular and if it shuts, down it's gonna hurt the
league as. Well SO i think that's where the possible leverage.
Is two sides playing, chicken and no one wants to
fall off that.

Speaker 2 (01:35:48):
Close, well they're not making. Money they did make money last,
year so if the league doesn't, play the owners don't
lose any more. Money SO i don't. Know the LEVERAGE
i think is theoretical because a few more people like
it because they gave away a lot of free seats
and five dollars, tickets so young girls who's probably their
demo can grow up and, say, hey MAYBE i can
do that. Someday and that's all. Fair but when you,

(01:36:10):
Know i've read as much of the agreement AS i,
can it seems pretty generous to me based on where
they are are you talk about players making a million
a year now five hundred and fifty grand a, year
some revenue sharing seems pretty generous to. Me and they're
beating their chest, like you, know without, us you got.
Nothing and so we'll just continue to watch it Next
saturday at this time A sunday morning when we sign.

(01:36:32):
On will there.

Speaker 9 (01:36:34):
Be a, Deal.

Speaker 15 (01:36:37):
I'm not, sure but there'll be a deal before the season.

Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
Starts, okay that's probably a safe. Prediction but the players
are going to have to back off because the owners
there's no reason for them, too and the only way
to find, out the only way to find out if
they really have leverage is to strike and THE nba
players there was a workstop at in ninety four and
they didn't start Till january ninety. Five it actually was

(01:37:00):
a pretty good season that. Year we called it the
nineteen ninety five ninety FIVE nba. Season it was a
fast and FURIOUS i think sixty games or, so and
it was pretty pretty good. Season, Actually, mark, LISTEN i
don't think there were a hell of a lot of
big headlines this, week So i'll let you close it
out with whatever we want to know THAT i forgot to, Ask, hey, WELL.

Speaker 15 (01:37:22):
I appreciate, you my. FRIEND i would just say, that,
look THE nba this, season it's kind of a wild while,
west both of The Eastern conference And Western. Conference so you,
KNOW i know that we talk a lot About lebron
and just everything going on with The, lakers but you're
looking at parody from top to. Bottom no matter what you,

(01:37:43):
know issues we have with load management and do people
care about the regular, season or what do you make
of THIS Nba cup at least from a bottom line?
Standpoint with the, standings there's a lot of good parody
in the, league and because of, THAT i expect that nothing,
else the playoffs are going to be, very very fun to.
Watch and even THOUGH i think that the thunder are

(01:38:04):
going to defend their, championship there's a lot of worthy
contenders that can challenge. Them we've seen The spurs already
beat them a few times this. Season The Denver, nuggets
even though they have some injury questions With Nakole, okicic
you can't count them. Out The, rockets they Got Kevin,
Durant they've been going through some ups and, downs they
have a young, core and The Eastern, conference as we,

(01:38:24):
discussed the game of the show is wide open And
boston has shown that they still deserve to be a
major player and much kudos And Jaylen brown for that
with this systy point night, tonight and he was very
adamant that he feels like he's the best two way
player in the, world so he's very salty that he
didn't get THAT Nba player of The month that went

(01:38:45):
To Jaylen brunson with The. Knicks and because of all,
THIS i think The Eastern conference is just going to
be as captivating in the playoffs as it will be
in The, west.

Speaker 2 (01:38:54):
Especially if The celtics And knicks. Lockhorns, yeah and they
both got about the same. Record and even though The
knicks have lost three in a, row what a ratings
boon it would be for THE nba if The knicks
got to THE Nba.

Speaker 15 (01:39:05):
Finals, well, LOOK i mean that would be, great but
let's not forget Your detroit pissons in your. Backyard they're
the real. DEAL i know that they've gone through some
relative rough patches last two games with the wa their
defense has been BUT i expect that they're going to
course correct pretty. Soon they've shown through most of the
first core of the season that they are the real.

(01:39:25):
Deal Kay cuneham deserves to be AN mvp, Conversation Usar
thompson deserves to be considered for An all The defensive,
team and, YEAH. Jb bickerstaff should be considered as A
coach of The YEAR kiv as.

Speaker 2 (01:39:39):
Well, yeah, NO i. Agree they're going to be an
extremely tough. Out they went at, home they went on the,
Road they beat The lakers by twenty last and they
played with their food for two and a half quarters
and they, Said, okay we're going to have some fun, now, so,
yeah you're, right that would. Be but just just for,
posterity can you imagine The knicks and can you imagine
A Knicks furs? Final non basketball fans will watched that

(01:40:00):
out of. CURIOSITY i, BELIEVE i really believe.

Speaker 15 (01:40:02):
That they had that in nineteen ninety. Nine it wasn't
the same, impact BUT i think here it would be
pretty popular because there's this generational talent Named Victor Webben
damma and The New York knicks that really started for
that championship since they last won in seventy.

Speaker 2 (01:40:16):
Three, yes, yeah we were talking over fifty, years, yep
and they. Came did they take it to seven games
in ninety? Nine was that The John?

Speaker 15 (01:40:22):
Starks, yeah that was The that was The Spurs David Robinson.
CHAMPIONSHIP i believe it was at some six, games BUT
i might be mistaken it was five.

Speaker 2 (01:40:37):
Games Maybe i'm thinking of The, Okay i'm thinking when
The knicks lost in seven games to The bulls when
Pat riley was. There those were the good, actually those
were kind of the better old.

Speaker 15 (01:40:46):
Days In rockets in ninety. Four you might be thinking about.

Speaker 2 (01:40:49):
That, WELL i certainly remember that very well because that
was an out of The White Bronco, chase and no
one knew that the right, RIGHT i was in a
press box Of. Detroit that was one of the wackiest
sports nights in, history in the least of which you
got THE Nba finals between The, rockets who everybody forgets
went back to back When Michael jordan took us. Hiatus so,

(01:41:12):
yeah all, right great stuff is Always. Mark we'll catch
you next, week. BUDDY i appreciate, It, Sir Mark Medina
Medina magic Our Fox Sports RADIO nba, guru also a
writer For he's writer for Essentially. Sports just so you,
know the negotiations with THE wnba and The Players, association

(01:41:33):
they were they are very far apart on a lot
of key, issues including revenue, sharing et. Cetera AND i
understand the new salary cap that the players want is
eight times higher than the current salary, cap so there's
lots of opportunity for the players to really increase their.
PAY i think they're crazy not to take this and
build from. There and maybe you, know but we'll. SEE
i just the stupid, talk and you, know we had

(01:41:55):
some folks tweeted at. ME i screwed up To caitlin
clarthing and we know all, that and we know all
that coming. Up let's let's go back to. Football we
have got a crazy week ahead of us, tomorrow which
we've you, know which you've already pretty pretty much. Covered,

(01:42:16):
however guess what's. Looming guess what's? Looming Black. Monday every
year there are about seven coaches that are. Fired we
don't wish it on, anybody but we'll give you the
usual suspects. List coming. Up I'm Bernie Frattle Or Comedy
live from The Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio. Studios keep
it locked and listening to The Bernie Fraddle show On
Fox Sports. Radio we're back at The Bernie Fradtle Show

(01:42:37):
Fox Sports. Radio Comedy live from The Las Vegas Fox
Sports Radio studios take you up to three Am, pacific
six Am, eastern and if you missed any of tonight's,
show you'll want to catch the. Podcast just Search Fox
Sports radio wherever you get your. Podcasts right after we
get off the, Show tonight's podcast to be. Posted be

(01:42:58):
sure to follow the podcast rated five. Stars you can
even provide a. Review. Again just Search Fox Sports radio
wherever you get your, podcasts and you'll find tonight's full
show posted right after we get off the. Air, well
we're just hours away from something they call Black. Monday
in THE, nfl there's always change on the horizon FOR nfl.

(01:43:20):
Teams the average every year is about seven and in
twenty twenty five we actually saw two coaches fired. Midseason
The titans parted ways With Brian callahan and The giants
sent To Brian dable packing he was an immediate net
improven For. Tennessee, well The giants will you know how
The giants have, Been but they're not the only ones
that are making the rounds as the usual. Suspects SO

(01:43:44):
i don't call for anybody's. Job but you read the
tea leaves and these are the NAMES i think that
people will be watching On. Monday all these names could be,
gone some certainly will, be maybe some won't. Be But mike,
McDaniel the question now is The Miami. Dolphins is McDaniel
possibly done enough to save his? Job, maybe, see for

(01:44:06):
most of the year it seemed like a you, know
pretty much a led pipe since that McDaniel this would
probably be his last year In. Miami then The dolphins
won five of their last seven, games and so it's
not necessarily a foregone. Conclusion we don't, know you know
the limitations Of mike McDaniel as a head. Coach he's
an OFFENSIVE i hate to we use the word, genius

(01:44:29):
but he clearly is an offensive smart. Guy but the
leadership department and THE ceo of a whole, Team i'm
not sure that act was kind of cute at. First
the media loved them because they look like most of
these media. Guys but the decision that The dolphins have
to make is whether or not they think McDaniel can

(01:44:49):
groll the team from, here if he can perhaps be
a bit more of a of a you, know outgoing vocal.
Leader he's only forty two years, old, okay three years
older Than sean, McVay but he's Not sean. McVay you
see the. Difference but If miami lets McDaniel, GO i
will just about guarantee you, this he'll have AN oc.

(01:45:11):
Job in about five, minutes someone will snap him up
as his offensive. Coordinator i've even heard rumors so far
as to say that he could end up In cleveland next,
year BUT i don't, know we'll see this one's intriguing to,
Me Pete carroll because The raiders have had five coaches
in the last six, years if include interim With Rich
pasacia and At Tonio, pierce WHO i understand we'll get

(01:45:37):
IN nfl. Interviews, SEE i thought he did okay Job.
Pierce The raiders do this every. Year this is gonna
be our. Year we Got Pete. Carroll they were four
and thirteen last, year but they're breman with. Talent you
Had Geno, Smith Pete carroll hand picked. Him you Had Ashton,
Genty Pete carroll picked, him hand picked. Him you Had
Chip kelly and don't look, now But vegas is going

(01:46:01):
to be a dark horse for a playoffs Body, yeah.
BOLONEY i never believed it. Once. NOW i didn't think
they'd be this. Bad AND i don't think there's Anything
Pete carroll could do to help this. Team his LEGACY
i think is fairly well secure with what he did
at se and what he did With. Seattle BUT i
don't think he's been impressive this. YEAR i don't know
IF i let him, go because what are you going

(01:46:23):
to do your six coach in seven? Years, AGAIN i
don't know what. Happened people want to say he look,
lost the games passed him. BY i don't it's against
a lot of practice psychology With thatt a, License i'm
not going to do. That but he didn't produce. Results they.
Regressed they told us they'd be, better and they regressed.
Badly they're not even, competitive no real appreciable. Adjustments the

(01:46:47):
team fought a little, bit but they seem to go
through the motions a. Lot you, know unless you are
on the radio covering the, radios we get. It you
want a cheerlead for the, team just BECAUSE i don't do,
that AND i covered THE o and Sixteen Detroit. LIONS
i don't believe in adham when i'm attacks. EITHER i
don't believe in making someone a punchline just for the

(01:47:09):
sake of a cheap radio. Trick BUT i also believe
in being a keen observer and not insulting my. AUDIENCE
i trust my eyes and tell me a. Lot the question,
is if your paycheck was on the, line would you
Want Pete carroll leading the. Charge they're gonna have a
top five, pick maybe the number one overall, pick AND
i don't, know maybe there's just sort of this Ceremonial pete, says,

(01:47:31):
ah maybe it's time for me to step. Away they
get the man his, dignity and then The raiders can
find a new coach without any. Embarrassment but they're already. Embarrassed,
OKAY i don't. KNOW i don't know what you do
With Pete. CARROLL i don't know who the replacements. Are
and given the fact that they're all for five and
their last, Five La gruden was just bad. Luck bisachia

(01:47:52):
was a. Mistake they should give them a. CHANCE i
thought our show at one time was an interim. Coach
but The raiders do things what The raiders do. Now Kevin. Stefanski,
look If kevin's here's another guy he may or may
not be. FIRED i don't. KNOW i don't think he
Likes Shador. Sanders he's a two Time coach of The,

(01:48:14):
year but he's only had two winning seasons in six.
Years but how do you win with that? Franchise if
you read the tea, leaves it doesn't really look Like
stefanski is back next. Year, okay you get down to brass.
Tacks everything is sort of stagnated after six, years and
in THE nfl sometimes they do make change just to make. Change,

(01:48:40):
look there are dozens of reasons why none of this
Messes stefanski's. Fault they've drafted, Poorly they've done poorly in free,
agency The Deshaun watson. Debacle what was he supposed to do?
There there isn't a coach working today that would have
succeeded in those. Conditions but at some point you need
a fresh, start AND i would say there's a Chance

(01:49:03):
tofanski's gone probably better than fifty to. Fifty but at
the same, time he'll get a job quickly too. ELSEWHERE
i think the man can. COACH i think who's in
a terrible situation. Now Zach. Taylor The Cincinnati bengals is
an interesting. One, okay The bengals are a cheap. ORGANIZATION

(01:49:26):
i don't know anybody that raves About Zach taylor raves
for his imagination or his coaching. Talent he's Had Joe
burrow And Jamar, chase AND i don't know that they've you,
Know burro's been. HURT i get. It but he's got
a contract running through twenty twenty. Seven there's a Chance.
Cincinnati cincinnati would just, say, wait we don't want to

(01:49:48):
have to pay a guy who's not going to be.
Here but he's got a winning percentage of four fifty
seven and The bengals have been a laughing. Stock now
they finished the season strong like they always. Doing it
doesn't matter and it's going to depend On Mike. Brown
does he want to open his checkbook to go get
a new coach in the next new shiny Toy and
does he want to Pay Zach taylor for the next

(01:50:10):
two years to not be? There but he's on the. List,
Okay so these are guys that are on the list For,
Monday mike, McDaniel Pete, Carroll Devin, Stefanski Zach. Taylor next,
Up Jonathan gannon of The Arizona. Cardinals, Okay arizona started,
slow then, faded and The Kyler murray experiment is. Over

(01:50:34):
the big knock On Jonathan gannon is that there has
been zero improvement on the defensive side of the ball
Because Jonathan gannon was the defensive. Guy they're twenty ninth
in points, allowed twenty fourth against the, pass twenty fifth
against the. Run and even though The cardinals have struggled
a quarterback this, year even though Give Jacobe presseatt a

(01:50:56):
tremendous amount of credit for competing and putting together some good,
games it was a defense that defense couldn't stop a,
parade and that's what got blamed for The wolves this.
Year And Jonathan gannon was a defensive. Guy so three
years of missed, playoffs no. Improvement they seem to be
a rudderless ship with no. Direction now you got a
potential new quarterback on the. HORIZON i would, say of

(01:51:19):
Everybody i've mentioned so, far the most, likely even more Than,
stefanski is That Jonathan gannon maybe seeking employment elsewhere next. Year,
now this next one has to be on the. LIST
i don't give a damn what anybody. Says i'm talking
About John. HARBALL i get. It hardball is a great.
Coach his tenure with The ravens feels, like, well how

(01:51:43):
much longer should he? Be there been thirteen years since
he won The Super. Bowl baltimore has been in the
playoffs most of that. Time but look up under achievement
in the playoffs and in the dictionary In baltimore's name
is next to. It Lamar jackson. Era he's three and
five in the. Playoffs we've talked about. This they've had

(01:52:04):
it set up for him nicely a couple. Times two years,
Ago Kansas city had to go Into baltimore and beat.
Him everybody Thought baltimore is going to win that. Game not,
me not. ME i Guess John harball is a lot
better coach when you've got you, Know Ray lewis And
Ed reid and that. Group, okay, Finally Aaron glenn of
The New York. Jets, NOW i don't think you god

(01:52:26):
should be one and, done but he doesn't show to
me that he's a legit head, coach good defensive. Coordinator
jets have been one of the worst teams in football this. Year,
okay feels a little Like Jared mayer's one year tenure
with The. Patriots it's not a fair outcome For. Glenn
he's one of the you, know but HE i, mean
he left a great spot In detroit as a defensive.

(01:52:48):
Coordinator but you, know come, on it just isn't. Working
AND i don't know where they go from here. On
don't a home? Dinner maybe a. Show so there you have.
It those are seven names to Watch. Monday it seems
to happen every. Year we'll see what happens On monday Or.
Tuesday coming up To Bernie fraddle show. Continues keep it.
Locked you are listening to The Bernie Fraddle show On
Fox Sports radio or back at The Bernie Fraddle Show

(01:53:19):
Fox Sports Radio Company alive from The Fox Sports radio
studios here in A Las vegas take you up to
three Am, pacific six Am. Eastern in addition to teams
that might be getting new coaches next, year well guess,
what there's a quarterback carousel that manages to find its
way to The National Football league every. Year, now listen

(01:53:40):
close in here if you hear some of the same,
teams The Cleveland, Browns, Well Shudor sanders has had his
chance to make us cache down the stretch as to
someone who might be fighting to be the number ONE
qb one heading into twenty twenty. Six But i've been

(01:54:05):
waiting for this comparison because they had to both have
the same. Opportunity so let me let me share this with,
you Because Shador sanders is now taking three hundred and
seventy six snaps in his tenure with The browns And
Dylan gabriel's taking three hundred and seventy two. Snaps but

(01:54:25):
The Chador posse thinks he's so much? Better is? He
gabriel completed one hundred and ten. Passes chador one hundred and.
Nine gabriel threw for seven touchdowns and two, Interceptions chadors
doing for seven touchdowns ten. INTERCEPTIONS i could go up

(01:54:46):
and down and give a bunch of numbers on the,
radio but he hasn't separated himself in my, View SO
i Think cleveland likely is gonna use a pair of
first round picks to target a quarterback the top of
next year. Draft we shall, see but that's my. Opinion
another team that was mentioned In New York jets may

(01:55:06):
have a new. Coach, WELL i don't See Justin fields
is gonna get the second half of his two, year
forty million. Dollars dally signed with The jets laft. Offseason
when The jets traded Away Sauce gardner And Quinnin. Williams
that Gave New york five first round picks over the
next two, years and three are in twenty twenty, seven
which figures to be a stronger quarterback. CLASS i don't

(01:55:29):
know if The jets will force it This, april BUT
i can tell you right. Now And i've always kind
of liked To Rob. Taylor he's a good. Backup but
there's a real argument to be made The jets load
up this year on other positions of, need and then
when the time, comes they'll have the draft capitally get a.
Quarterback SO i think there's a carousel there as. Well

(01:55:51):
same situation with The Arizona. Cardinals, OKAY i Think tua
he is a. Guy it's just for whatever, reason it
just hasn't whether it's the, concussions the. Injuries he's the
only highly paid veteran in the entire league this year
that's going to finish the season on the. Sidelines or
check That Kyler murray is the. SAME i compared them to,

(01:56:16):
too because those are of all the Quarterbacks i'm talking,
about these are highly paid. Guys, look something happened With
Kyler murray and he fell into his. Favor they talked
about his injured. Foot Jacoby brissett has done a pretty
damn good job filling, In But arizona's just a broken team.
Somehow Kyler murray is guaranteed thirty six man in twenty twenty,

(01:56:39):
six so The cards might have to eat some money
to find a trade. Partner BUT i don't think you'll
See Kyler murray as your starting quarterback In arizona. Too
let's get to him now the writing's been on the
wall In. Miami and, again notice how these. Teams quarterback
Coach Miami Arizona jats browns to is sitting for the

(01:57:01):
final three weeks of the. Season and he's the latest
example of a team obviously looking to avoid the injury
guarantees as The raiders did With Derek carr four years.
Ago tua's do fifty four million in guaranteed money next,
year but a performance based benching is What tua is
dealing with right, now and he's making a lot of

(01:57:22):
money And miami's setting the. STAGE i think to part
ways with. Them and there was another guy who was
a former first ROUNDER i had VERY i For ta
coming into the. League remember the tank For tua, Again
that's WHY i did the tanking subject tonight on the
on The midnight mur BECAUSE i don't believe it. Works
they're in a tough Spot, Miami. Okay you know they

(01:57:44):
could potentially saddle themselves with ninety nine million in dead cat,
money and SO i think the bottom line, is you,
know they got to find themselves a quarterback and it's
not going to be too but they got work to.
Do same with The, raiders all, Right they told they
were getting a steal when they Got Gino smith for
a third round pick this past. Offseason but he's a cast.

(01:58:05):
Off he's a cast. Off he's a mid. Quarterback that's
what he did for much of his time as a
starter In. SEATTLE i Think Pete carroll overrated. Him it's
a big swing and a. Miss the situation also never
really Gave smith much of a. Chance and you, know
how do you stick with a thirty five year old
when he throws the ball to the other team and
leads the league in. Interceptions i'm not picking on. Him,

(01:58:28):
look he's had his time in THE. Nfl, now the
only team here that their coach is now in the
hot seat That i'm mentioning of this group Is. Pittsburgh
Now Rogers Aaron rodgers is STILL i think a, serviceable
capable starting. Quarterback SO i Think pittsburgh there's a chance
he returns for another. Year but we don't know If
rogers can return from. There we don't know if he

(01:58:50):
wants to return for another. YEAR i don't know what
his change of heart will, be or if The steelers
get Beat sunday night or they go to the. PLAYOFFS
a lot has to, happen, Right, SO i think they're
in a situation and where their coach is, staying and
they may will be a playoff, team but they may
be looking for another quarterback next year as. Well and
there's an interesting rookie Class Fernando, Mendoza Dante, More Leonora.

(01:59:12):
SELLERS i don't. Know this is a tough deal for
these teams that are in real. Trouble coming, up we
are going to flip the. College we have an exciting
four team playoff And i'm gonna tell you clearly who's
the best team in college. Football keep it. Locked you're
listening to The Bernie Fraddle show On Fox Sports. Radio that's,

(01:59:32):
right you heard the. Man The Bernie Fraddle show keeps
rolling right. Along my name Is Bernie. Fraddle we aren't
comedy line from The Fox Sports radio studios here In Las.
Vegas we'll take you up to three Am, pacific six Am.
Eastern we're just about eight hours away from what promises
to be very EVENTFUL Nfl week. EIGHTEEN a lot of
questions will be, answered but we got to talk from college.

(01:59:57):
Football you, know the Great Nolan Ryan hall Of Fame
pitcher once, said the mark of a great picture is
when you can win when you don't even have your best,
stuff which means that there are certain, athletes certain, pitchers
certain teams that reached a point where they could win on.

(02:00:18):
Reputation Casey stengel said it best once The New York,
YANKEES i believe in the fifties won like Nine World
series in eleven. Years he flatly, said, teams, well they
can't beat The. Yankees they just get stuck staring at the. Pinstripes.
Well Nick saban told the story Before indiana kicked it

(02:00:40):
off Against alabama On thursday in The Rose, bowl mentioned
that he was golfing with some of his buddies on
the first tee His Crimson tide palace basically, said, quote
we should kick The ish out Of indiana. Now other
than reputation and history and The Crimson tide, colors what

(02:01:03):
are the factors they considered and thinking that would automatically?
Happen because if you looked at the final six games
Before alabama got on the field Against Indiana, thursday they
needed two touchdowns in the final two minutes to beat
A South carolina team that was four and. Eight, granted

(02:01:24):
they did BEAT lsu by ten and they're at home
in LSU's first game after Firing Brian. Kelly then they
proceeded to lose at home To. Oklahoma then it took
a late fourth quarter touchdown to Beat, auburn who was
only five and. Seven then in THE sec title, Game,

(02:01:44):
bama who frankly had Beaten georgia earlier the, year lost
To georgia by three touchdowns twenty eight to. Seven and
then they had to come back from seventeen zip deficit
to Beat oklahoma on the, road found themselves as seven
and a half point. Underdogs so the only reason that
those golfing buddies Of sabans that Were alabama friends fans
would say we should kick the issh out Of, indiana

(02:02:06):
he's because of what took place in the. Past But
Kurt signetti said it. Best he, said our players don't
really know anything About alabama's historic. Dominance they just know
what they see on. Film whether you like it or.
Not indiana is the best team in the country right,
now and yet still in many, circles And i'm looking

(02:02:27):
at You Cam newton for your comments the other, day
they're still in some. Circles The Rodney, dingerfield a college.
Football they get no respect even though they're fourteen to.
Zero you're a consensus number one in a bunch of
computer ratings before they put that thirty eight to three
caning On alabama On New Year's. Day their Quarterback Fernando

(02:02:49):
mendoza just won The Heisman. Trophy is part Of indiana's.
Resume they Beat oregon At, oregon who was ranked number
five at the. Time they beat number Two Ohio state
and the defending champion In Ohio state in The Big Ten.
Championship and there is no logical way to, think, assume

(02:03:13):
or wish that this is not completely, legitimate if it's
even if it's JUST iu on the side of their.
Helmet but people's brains and impressions and thought patterns are
sometimes stubborn and in, denial and they're a funny. Thing
until a couple of years, Ago indiana was merely a
basketball school that had a football. Team, NOW i remember

(02:03:37):
going to The Holiday bowl in nineteen seventy nine when
they were coached By Lee corso and they BEAT byu
thirty eight to thirty, seven and one of the most
exciting bowl. Games and he thought he could turn the program.
Around And Tom allen had a bit of a, run
And indiana almost upset In michigan one year and both
Sham becker was. There but for the most part they'ren
also ran in, football they're a big, ten bottom feed or.

(02:04:02):
Two and then all of a, sudden you hire a
young coach he's not, young but he's young at heart
From James madison by the name Of, kurtzignetti and the
nil dollars, say, hey we can hang with this. Guy
and you talk about a turnaround for The. Ages it
was a turnaround overnight for The. Ages all of a,

(02:04:25):
Sudden indiana is a seven and a half point favorite Against. Alabama,
NO i get, It. Alabama they didn't exactly run the
ball well all, year they didn't exactly stop the, run
but They're. ALABAMA i swear To. God there were people
Thought alabama would just win because They're. Alabama But indiana
played so much better Than alabama throughout the, season and

(02:04:46):
on that day it showed Because, bama according to a
computer guru a couple of years ago over last, year
had the number two roster country In indiana was number seventy.
Two so much for. Computers that's why the games got

(02:05:06):
to be played on the. Field and that's why like
it or, not these playoffs in this, format while not,
perfect is at least getting things decided on the. Field
remember the days OF ap AND upi just. Voting you
talk about. Reputation one of the greatest college football teams
of all, time the nineteen seventy EIGHT Usc. Trojans that
was a. Team. Man they went down and Had alabama

(02:05:28):
beat twenty four to seven In tuscaloosa in nineteen seventy.
Eight alabama got a late excuse me touchdown that sc
wins twenty four to. Fourteen at the end of the,
YEAR i THINK ap Voted alabama number one AND usc
the OTHER upi VOTED usc number. One how does that?
HAPPEN usc beat them head to head twenty four to
fourteen In Alabama Bear. Bryant so if some computer, says,

(02:05:53):
well we got the number two roster And indian has
got the number seventy two, ROSTER i guess you can
understand Why saban's golf buddies and some of the fans
even listening to this right now still don't want to
be completely accepting Of. Indiana but things should be clear, now.
Okay and by the, way they're getting some. Backing if

(02:06:15):
you looked at The Rose, bowl in the seats that
started to clear out when the game was a, blowout
the people who stayed Were indiana, fans and that seemed
to be about eighty percent of the. Crowd Indiana namalie
took over the football, game but they seemed to take
over the. Day oh by the, way it wasn't just
That indiana Beat alabama and you saw the score thirty

(02:06:37):
eight to. Three they completely pull Acted. Alabama they ran
for two hundred and fifteen. Yards alabama ran for twenty
three some. More Major ogilvie must be having a conniption.
Fit by the, Way alabama got to the red zone all.
Right they ran a grand total of three plays all

(02:06:57):
day in the red. Zone the team backyard checked that
they went backward by a yard on those, plays And
kalin De, boord the head, coach, said what the, Hell
we'll kick a field goal and that made the game
twenty four to. Three after it was twenty four to.
Nothing minutes, later The Rose bowl speakers starting to play

(02:07:20):
a song Called Dixie Land. Delight that maybe cost. Him
alabama fans to smile because they had nothing to smile.
About on the. Field oh by the, Way indiana fans
didn't like that too. Much they tried to drown it
out and, booed and actually they kind of. Did. So

(02:07:40):
now you've got this playoff semi final against An oregon
team That indiana already. Beat this time the games In
atlanta instead of on the road In. Eugene now here's the.
Kicker AND i think people are waiting for. This we
have one guy in our network Called indiana. Fraud there's
no trophy for being the best team in the, country

(02:08:02):
Like i'm trying to make the case for only for
winning the final game in the. Season that's the one
who gets the. Trophy you win the final game of
the season in the. Playoffs If, indiana for whatever reason
doesn't win the, title it's going to require an. Upset,
otherwise they're on their way to be a sixteen to no.

(02:08:24):
Team now they're a four point favorite Against oregon this.
Week but if they go sixteen to, oh if The
Indian hoosiers go sixteen to, oh maybe we have the
discussion sometime at the midnight. Hour can you call them
the greatest college football team? Ever let the debates. Start,
now you can't do it, Yet by the, Way indiana's

(02:08:46):
days of being a basketball school or taking a serious
back seat Now because as long as Kurtz signette's there
and as long as The hoosiers are violent on, defense
set The edges HAVE nfl wide receives and a charismatic
quarterback who proves greatness when the situation demands. Greatness, well

(02:09:08):
then you're looking at a team we might be talking
about for a, while but one step at a. Time right,
now some people still think they're A Rodney. Dangerfield by the,

The iHeart radio. App, Thursday Dyline Old miss the number

(02:10:39):
six Rank Old Miss rebels against The Miami, hurricanes who
become quite a. Story you Have Michael irvin taking the
belt to the. Wall not sure what that was all, About,
WELL i know he said it was all. ABOUT i
thought maybe he was auditioning for a role In Poodie tang. Too,
yeah google it a classic cult. Movie BUT i want

(02:11:01):
to start with the quarterbacks here Because i'm gonna Pick Old,
Miss and here's. Why right, NOW i think It's Trinidad's
shambless's world and we're all just. Visiting it's The trinidad.
Planet this kid was At Farris state last, year winning
a national championship In division two football in a stadium

(02:11:21):
that fit not a lot of. People he transfers To
Ole miss and steps right, in and he's exactly what
the doctor. Order if you watched the game Against, georgia
now What's georgia known?

Speaker 7 (02:11:36):
For?

Speaker 2 (02:11:36):
Defense right completed thirteen straight, passes Helped Old miss take
a ten point lead with just over seven minutes to.
Play and it's not a high rye, iract but he
has that whirling, dervish make you miss people play alive
capability that has to drive defensive coordinators. Nuts AND i

(02:11:58):
think This Old miss team is. MOTIVATED i think they're
mad At Lane. KIFFIN i think they want to prove
they could do Without Lane. Kiffin and there's something about
the magic That Trinidad shambless. Brings and he. Understands, listen,
yes yes it Was division, two but he knows what

(02:12:18):
that looks. Like, okay Now miami's you, know got maybe
a few MORE nfl prostects Than Valdosta state did had last.
Year but in what game have you seen Ole miss
play where they weren't able to put up? POINTS i,
mean they put up forty three against or thirty five

(02:12:40):
Against georgia the first, time they played thirty seven the second.
Time and if If Ole miss can give shambless, time
which they did Against, georgia he Torched georgia for three
hundred and sixty two yards and in eight quarters Against Georgia,
Trinidad ambliss was never sacked and he threw for six

(02:13:04):
hundred and twenty five. Yards, now that was an all time.
Game and MAYBE i don't, know no, excuses but maybe
the week off didn't Do george any. Good the truth
of the matter is is That Old miss is a
pretty damn good team and The hurricanes are going to
bring a pass. Rush and when you look at the

(02:13:25):
game last week Against Ohio State miami and their pass,
rush they Put Julian saying in a, vice But Julian
san doesn't have anywhere near the mobility and make you
miss and keep a play alive whirling dervish style that
has Allowed Old miss to extend plays and make plays

(02:13:47):
that should have been. Losses, okay So Trinidad chambliss Gives
Old missus offense a chance to make plays off. Schedule
that with all due respect To Julian, sann he had
a hell of a fine. Year that's not how The,
buckeyes you, Know that's not how they do. Business on

(02:14:09):
the other side of the, ball the question will, be
can Coach Pete golding come up with a, game come
up with a game plan and a scheme that, Says,
okay we got a lot of respect for, You, miami
but we're gonna put The we're going to put the
game On Carson beck's. Shoulders Carson beck is going to
have to win this game to beat. Us AND i

(02:14:33):
Think Carson beck at his best is. Good but he
hasn't thrown for more than one hundred and fifty yards
in either Of miami's playoff. Wins if there's one Thing
Mississippi state has proven this year and even last, year
you're going to have to score points to beat. Him
the one game they lost this, year it was Against,

(02:14:55):
georgia and they exacted their Revenge. GEORGIA i put up forty.
Three old miss put up thirty. Five as solid As
miami has been in these first two playoff. Games would
it surprise me If ole miss put up twenty four or, Thirty,
no it would, Not AND i don't Think miami's got
the kind of exposive playoffense to do.

Speaker 9 (02:15:15):
That.

Speaker 2 (02:15:16):
NOW i want to Give miami a hell of a
lot of. Credit they've come, Out they've exceeded all expectations
and that should be. Congratulated you Beat TEXAS a and
m you Beat Ohio state and back to back. Weeks
that's huge for a program that there are some knuckles
that didn't think That miami deserved to spot in the.
PLAYOFFS i was not one of those. People they Beat Notre.

(02:15:40):
Dame yes they lost TO, Smu yes they lost To,
louisville but this is a playoff and they've already proven they. Belong,
Okay Pete golding found a way to go toe to
toe With georgia And Kirby. Smart if he can do,
that you can't tell me he's not going to dial

(02:16:03):
up a scheme to put speed bumps in front Of
Carson back and make life uncomfortable For Carson. Beck combining
that with how difficult it is to Contain trinidad shambless
AND i am not mixed. Up miami gets after, it
their pass rushers get. Home but this is a really
tough matchup For. MIAMI i get. It the last two

(02:16:26):
have been tough as, Well TEXAS a AND m And Ohio.
State this is a different. Animal styles make. FIGHTS i
think it's a bad matchup For. MIAMI i just simply
think That shambless is a mesmerizing, quarterback and you can
say he is a fast face to pass rush quite
as ferocious As. Miami's but how in the hell Did
Jeff brohm And louisville dial up an offense to Beat.

(02:16:47):
Miami Perhaps Pete golding watches that game. FILM i Like
Old miss to Beat. Miami all due respect To. Miami
it's been a hell of a nice little, run and
it's been a pretty damn good. Year big tip of
the cap To Mario. Cristobal BUT i think it ends,
here all, Right Nick, saban there's never going to be

(02:17:09):
Another Nick. Saban, well maybe there is going to. Be
Kurt signetti might be the New Nick. Saban, Okay Kurt
signetti spent four years On saban's first staff In, tuscaloosa
fifteen eighteen years, ago whatever it, was AND i Think
Kurt signetti learned a lot From Nick. Saban he's very

(02:17:31):
saving esque in the way they tactically prepare for a,
team their process, oriented the way they pick apart their,
opponent the way they play mistake free. Football discipline was
a key, cog a key component Of Nick Saban's alabama,
teams and that's Something indiana. Has you, know they are

(02:17:53):
second in the. Country they only allow approximately twenty eight
yards in penalties a. Game The raiders do that every every. Possession,
now the Reason indiana Beat, alabama as an example so
suddenly is because they didn't give they didn't make any

(02:18:15):
mistakes For alabama to try to take advantage of no.
Freebies their defense Held alabama to three for thirteen on third.
Downs they made a, punt they kept the Tired alabama
defense on the. Field, meanwhile The indiana was ten to
fourteen third down situations red zone fourth. QUARTER i gotta

(02:18:39):
tell you This indiana team is. Scary they squeeze you
like a bowl. Constrictor they got playbakers on both sides
of the. Ball they set the, edges they're violent on,
defense and they have a quarterback who is quite quite
the field general and quite the. Player now this is a.

(02:18:59):
Remap indiana's a four point favorite this. Time and remember
The hoosiers Beat oregon thirty to twenty In. Eugene no
one does that back In. October and at that, POINT
i think the people who Dotted indiana started to BELIEVE
i was one of, them BECAUSE i trust my. Eyes
they tell me a. LOT i saw the way they

(02:19:20):
won the. GAME i don't repeat, myself but they set
the edges And oregon wasn't able to get in space
like they were against other, teams And indiana was violent on.
Defense they have a couple OF nfl wide. Receivers they
run the, ball they stopped the, run they tackled the,
block and their quarterback is Outstanding. Indiana everybody saw them

(02:19:41):
Destroy alabama last. Week And Paul, finbaum who's been a skeptical,
YEAR i think even he's coming around. Now When oregon
Played indiana back In, october the defense got, home Sank
daptemore six times and picked them off. Twice and you
just Saw oregon shut out A Texas tech offense that

(02:20:04):
everybody told us was the greatest thing Since Pepperoni. Pizza
finding out maybe their schedule wasn't WELL i don't want
to take any more From Texas, tech but you saw
What oregon. Did BUT i believe The indian offense is
better Than Texas. Tech's and you, know there's an old

(02:20:25):
saying it's hard to beat a team twice in the same,
year but that's that's fortune cookie. Wisdom sometimes one team
is simply better than the. Other and you, know harkening
back to WHAT i said twenty minutes ago about this
image people have Of indiana football based on their stinky,

(02:20:45):
history The hoosiers are the, best most complete team. Period
they showed. It they've they Beat oregon In, oregon they
beat ohiuse state, that they just completely Demolished. Alabama NOW
i think they're going to have success against The ducks
offense defensively because Even Texas techs front seven really you,

(02:21:10):
know slowed The ducks, down But Dan lanning and The
ducks pulled. Away AND i think THEY'RE dna And benning
in situations like that before Where Texas tech hadn't and
that experience paid. Off SO i Like indiana to win
along the lines of twenty one, seventeen along those, Lines
SO i think we are looking at It, Indiana ole

(02:21:31):
Miss National championship coming up on the nineteenth In, miami
AND i think that's a, doozy AND i know you
all had. THAT i refuse to say bingo. Card it's
the dumbest saying. Ever no one carries around bingo. Cards
but none of us predicted that at the beginning of the,
year none of. Us But i'm here for it because

(02:21:52):
you have two deserving teams and two fascinating. Stories and
if it Is Ole miss In, indiana neither one is
won a national. Championship both of them have coaches that
worked Under Nick saban and you already know The Kurt signetti.
Stories Fascinating and can you Imagine Lane kiffin Leaving, elis
Leaving Ole miss FOR lsu because he thought he had

(02:22:13):
a better chance to win a national championship and they
go ahead and win a national championship without him in
the Final cherry on the icing on the cake or
whatever it. Metaphor Lane kiffin's already earned five hundred grand
and bonuses Because Old miss won two playoff. Games if
they get to the, finals it's another seven hundred and fifty.
Grand and if An Old miss wins it, All Lane
kiffin will pick up another million, yep another million seven

(02:22:36):
to fifty if Old miss wins the next two. Games
so there you have, it AND i already can't wait
for Next thursday And. Friday football SPELLED fotb E lll
is not the only sport we cover on this. Network
we also cover the other sport spelled. Futbol, yep it's.
Time one hundred and sixty nine days Until World Cup.

(02:22:58):
Soccer it's time For Chrispp world Of, soccer.

Speaker 16 (02:23:02):
The greatest, goals the thrilling, finishes the international.

Speaker 9 (02:23:12):
DRUM i am at the end of the.

Speaker 2 (02:23:17):
Level it's all here in this report from The world Of.

Speaker 17 (02:23:21):
Soccer so we're at the halfway mark of The Premier league.
Season arsenal sits the top of the table forty eight
points as Of saturday evening here in The United states
on their Heels Aston villa with forty two points both
those twenty games Played Manchester city though really the only
competition for them at the time being seven points back

(02:23:42):
game to play for them at nineteen games Versus arsenal's.
Twenty it should be interesting to keep up with this
through the entire, season But arsenal is playing extremely well right.

Speaker 1 (02:23:52):
Now BUT i want to.

Speaker 17 (02:23:53):
Turn our attention not to number four on the, table
where we've been talking About liverpool quite a, bit but number.
Five If chelsea sitting on the table with thirty points
eighteen back of first, place comfortably In Europa league, qualification
and yet they're at the forefront Of as much as
we'd like to call it a, sacking some sort of a,
departure we're not sure If Enzo, maresca their, manager, left

(02:24:17):
or if he was. Fired what we do know is
it's only been six months Since chelsea became THE Fifa
Club World cup, champions eighteen months Since maresca took the
job in the first. Place and Usually chelsea managers traditionally
have an incredibly short. Lifespan they get fired faster than
pretty much any other sports manager or coach on the,

(02:24:38):
planet AND i would probably even INCLUDE nba coaches up
there with that. Too nobody's quite sure what's exactly happened.
There it's a real big head. Scratcher, chelsea if you'll,
remember has been under New american leadership ever since it's
forced sale From Roman, abramovich its Former russian, owner and

(02:25:00):
it's been quite quite the story watching. Them as we,
said they've lifted some serious, hardware and yet here they
are fifth on the, table and, like, look with about
half a season to, play they're not out of it.
Altogether but the, sacking OR i keep calling it a,
SACKING i don't know why this departure seems really out

(02:25:20):
of left. Field he was under contract until twenty twenty,
nine with the option of a further, year but there's
been so much finger pointing in this breakdown it's really
something to. SAY a lot of reports really feel like
there's a lot of structural issues between him and the,
club a reported feud with him and the medical department

(02:25:42):
of the, club and maybe fans really not feeling it
with some. Performances BUT i really struggle to see what
they're gonna do better Than.

Speaker 2 (02:25:51):
Maresca.

Speaker 17 (02:25:52):
NOW i do want to turn the attention of world
with soccer away from soccer, itself but something this is
a STORY i like to call soccer helping to inform
a situation in another. Sport i'd like to turn to.
Baseball so Sho Heyo tani obviously will be part Of Team,
japan The Japan samurai for The World Baseball. Classic of,

(02:26:14):
course nobody could ever deny Sho Heyo tani the ability
to represent his country in an event THAT i find
is really good for. Baseball The World Baseball classic is
a tremendous amount of fun for anyone who's not an
Upset mets fan About Edwin. Diaz but this kind of
gets back to The Edwin diaz problem in that there

(02:26:36):
is questions about how much Sho Heyo tani will pitch
For Samurai, japan how much you will pitch in The
World Baseball. Classic dodgers Manager Dave roberts earlier In december
said he hopes that he won't. Pitch this reportedly seems
to be a sentiment around The dodgers organization as. Well
AND i think The dodgers are going to learn very

(02:26:58):
quickly what we've known in soccer for a long time
that if someone really wants to perform for their, nation
if someone really wants to represent their, nation there's not
much you will be able to tell. Them AND i
am sorry To Major League baseball fans out, there but
when you introduce something like performing for your country in your,

(02:27:18):
sport you have to accept that sometimes that player is
going to be giving one hundred and ten percent for
his nation rather than your. Club Now i'm not Saying
Shoho tani will ishee the advice and not be on
a pitch count For Samurai. Japan BUT i would SAY
i wouldn't be surprised if he. Was and we see
this all the time with The World. Cup let us

(02:27:41):
let us not forget that in spite of the popularity
of The World, cup of all the stuff that comes
with playing with your country IN fifa and how much
we love, it there is a lot of hay made
from the club, side from club organizations that really wish
they didn't have a conflict of interest in, schedule in
health and availability of their stars when they go and

(02:28:04):
play for their. Countries guys get hurt IN Uefa, nations
In conca calf and In Copa america and THE Fifa
World cup itself all the, time and it can really
put a damp on impending seasons for those. Clubs they absolutely. Can,
HOWEVER i would say it is the right of the

(02:28:25):
player to choose when and how he can use his,
body and his body is not property for a. CLUB
i understand they're paying him millions and millions of, dollars
but your club directly benefits from that player representing his,
country just like it is with The World Baseball, classic
just like it is WITH Fifa World. Cup it is all,
interconnected and it is all part of a love for

(02:28:48):
a game rather than a bloodless business. Transaction if these
were just bloodless business, transactions nobody would be. Watching we're
watching for the emotion and the. Passion good news is
you shouldn't probably have any problems. Whatsoever dodgers, Show Heyo
tani will probably be. Fine most guys who play soccer
The World cup are that'll do it for. Us we

(02:29:09):
will see you next time in twenty twenty, six once
again A World cup year on the world of.

Speaker 2 (02:29:15):
SOCCER i earned sixty nine days away and he's right about.
Passion if you've ever seen an international soccer, GAME i
gotta tell, you it's indescribable in terms of the national
pride on. Display you'll see It North america here one
hundred and sixty nine days coming. Up we wrap up the,

(02:29:35):
show AND i want to give a coach whose regular
season didn't end so great his flowers very much deserves,
it even though Well saturday's dam didn't in the way
he wanted it.

Speaker 9 (02:29:49):
To.

Speaker 2 (02:29:49):
Hi Bernie fraderwck comedy laugh From Las, Vegas Fox Sports Radio.
Studios keep it locked you listen to The Bernie Frattle
show On Fox Sports. Radio all, right wrapping it up
by The Bernie Frale, SHOW i want to thank my Producers,
Tonight mark And. Patrick excellent. Job out standing job turning

(02:30:16):
all the, dials keeping us flud, together taking other calls
during the midnight, hour managing the time, clock making sure
we keep the show on the, air and all the
things that go behind the. Scenes cannot do it without great.
Producers always appreciate the. Effort BEFORE i get to the,

(02:30:37):
PROPS i want to give this coach there are you
know It's week. Eighteen don't pooh pooh week eighteen like
it's the last week and everybody's got their golf clubs
Backed Detroit. Chicago chicago locks in the number two seeding
in THE. Nfc if they Win, sunday that's significant because
that'll bring him a first round matchup against the lowest rank,
wildcard plus a possible home game in the divisional. Stage

(02:31:00):
so you, Know Ben johnson also wants to beat his old.
Employer he was booed during His week two homecoming and
they got smoked that. Game The lions scored fifty two.
Points But detroit they want To they they are playing for. Pride,
okay it's it's an interesting. Uh lion theyarl in three
to The. Bears The lions are not healthy right now on.

(02:31:23):
Defense but, again that game's got. Significance and you heard
me in the first hour WHEN i was talking With Scott,
pritchard our. Handicapper since nineteen ninety teams that are eliminated
that are playing teams that need to that are playing
for some. Incentive, well the teams that are eliminated are
sixty one percent against the spread since nineteen ninety one

(02:31:44):
oh five and sixty. Nine that's. Something so The, bear
The lions are, eliminated and The bears are playing for.
Something take note The chargers and The. Broncos now neither
one is eliminated. Here they're both going of the, playoffs
but it would land a better ranking if The bronco.

(02:32:06):
Look Justin herbert's going to. Rest The chargers, are you,
know set with their wild card. Slot some veterans will
probably sit alongside Of Justin. Herbert Trey lance is not
a major league. Quarterback this is going to get. Ugly
he's had five career starts And, look let's just put

(02:32:28):
it this. Way it's a massive game for The broncos,
anyway because if you handle business at, home then the
AFC's road to The Super bowl will go Through. Denver
denver Wins, sunday they get the number one, seed so
it means a lot To. Denver same With. Jacksonville Now
Tennessee's tennessee's. Eliminated but remember WHAT i said about the
sixty could just be a trap. Game The jaguars quench

(02:32:52):
THE Afc. South if they win in the games at,
home that would give them the number three seed at
the absolute, worst and you know if they get some
help from other. Teams the bottom line is it would
be hoove The jaguars to. Win it would also give
The jags their second best record in franchise. History give
it up To Liam cohen to be thirteen and, Four

(02:33:16):
so not a bad, debut. Right, however if Somehow tennessee beats,
them it's not on the rumal possibilities The National Football,
league The titans are checked that The jags could drop
as far as number. Seven as a number seven, seed
SO i think Cam ward's shown improvement in his last

(02:33:37):
three outings six touchdowns in the. Interceptions tennessee plays. Hard
they plays. Hard they play, Hard so that's a game to. Watch,
finally the, game it's the final game of the, season
two hundred and seventy two. Games this is game number
two seventy. Two comes down To sunday night. Football The
Pittsburgh steelers are three and a half point dogs at
home against The Baltimore. Ravens this is a defective playoff.

(02:33:59):
Game the winner is in the. Playoffs the loser good,
Night Irene Lamar jackson will. Play he's three and five
in playoff, games ten, touchdowns seven, interceptions two fumbles, completed
about fifty fifty five percent of HIS PATS i think
sixty eight quarterback. Rating and in the last thirty two

(02:34:22):
games Between harball And, tomlin the dog is twenty five and.
Seven so you're getting three and a half In pittsburgh and. Home,
okay Either baltimore is going to win the division for
the third straight year Or pittsburgh will get back on
top of the perch for the first time in six.
Years So John HARBALL i think is on the hot.
SEAT i think he should, be and this will get

(02:34:44):
him off the hot. Seat and if The ravens. LOSE
i think there'll be a hell of a lot of teeth.
Gnashing so there's some key games there to, watch and
don't think it's going to be so. Automatic by the,
way if you're A Baker mayfield, fan you will be
rooting for The saints because if The saints win and
beat The Atlanta falcons as a road short dog of

(02:35:07):
three and a half, points Then Tampa bay's in the
playoffs and they'll host the playoff game if. Care If atlanta,
Wins carolina will. Advance so there's rooting interest there as. Well,
again these games have meaning and guys are playing for.
Jobs you, KNOW i covered THE o and Sixteen Detroit.
Lions but one thing That Rod marrinelli used to say

(02:35:30):
is everything's on. Tape one hundred percent of what you
do is observed one hund percent of the. Time so
players are gonna play. Hard they may not have a
job at the front current franchise next, year but they're
gonna be on tape somewhere and they may want a
job with another. FRANCHISE i think you're in for some
good Football. SUNDAY i want to give props To Kyle
shanahan because great coaches find a. Way look to nineteen

(02:35:54):
seventy two season To Mini. Dolphins you know the team
that they stand on the sidelines and cheer when someone.
Loses the only team that finished a perfect seventeen to. Zero,
well people don't realize is THAT i think week five
or week, six their head coach that, Year Don shule
lost his starting, Quarterback hall of Famer Bob greasy and
an old veteran Role morile had to come in and

(02:36:15):
mop things, up and they still went the rest of
the way and won. It they found a. Way Tom
brady went down week one of two thousand and, eight
Yet Bill belichick still finished eleven and, five the only
way to make the, playoffs and, yeah they won seventeen
games year. Before the bottom line is great coaches find a,
way And Kyle shanahan he should be mentioned on the
shortlist of great, coaches but he's not going to be

(02:36:37):
because he hasn't won A Super bowl and that's kept
him out of that tier. Coaches BUT i think among
the modern, coaches he is a great coach and this
year clearly has to be Considered Kyle shanahan's finest. Work
yet he got The niners one win from the NFC's
number one seed tough Lost saturday night Against Seattle bite

(02:37:00):
the league's worst injury luck and it's not. Close of
the twenty two players that started for The niners back
In week, one only eight have started every. Game sixty
three percent of the starters have missed timer been. Replaced
three of their best defensive, Players Fred warner probably A
hall Of, famer Ed, Dressers Nick, bosa And Michel williams
went on season ending Ir can you imagine if they

(02:37:22):
had those three all? Year Brandon, ayuk the league's ninth
highest paid, receiver missed the entire season and by the,
way Tightened George, kittle who missed a lot of time
with an ankle. Injury Well Brock, purty his, quarterback and
other offensive weapons have missed time as, well And Kyle
shanahan still got them to the final week of the

(02:37:42):
season and almost was the number one. Seed, then just
as The niners offensive line was starting to find his,
form their star left Tackle Trent, williams one of those
eight players to start every, game he got hurt in
the first snap of their game last week against The.
Bears he didn't Play Sunday. Saturday check that we're not
sure if he'll play the first round of the. Playoffs

(02:38:04):
in that same, game you also Saw christian McCaffrey dealing
