Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports. Do not, do not, do
not touch that dial. You heard the man. It's time
for Fox Sports Sunday. And first things first, Happy New
Year to all, and here's to a prosperous for everybody.
And on that note, please put your seat backs forward,

(00:24):
your trade tables upright. We are ready for takeoff. My
name is Bernie Fratto and Comedy Alive from the Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. We will take you up
to three am Pacific, six am Eastern, along with my
savvy and capable crew Boll Benson, Chris Perfette and of
course Brian Finley on the updates as they man the

(00:45):
ship from our Los Angeles compound. We have got a
ton on the agenda tonight, including full NFL analysis for
week seventeen, as well as some best bets and who
we think is getting eliminated and all that good stuff.
We also got something be a news, a new fangled
idea that's getting a lot of pushback, uh, a groundbreaking

(01:07):
coaching higher and Aaron Rodgers update in a in a
final tribute to some the famous sports luminaries who passed
in one and I'm telling you it's it's a who's
who list. We're don't bringing the crew on that, as
will on on several of these subjects. Will also have
Chris Profet's UH Soccer Report at two three am East

(01:29):
to check that two thirty and Pacific five thirty Eastern
that plus hey, you don't want to miss what kind
of brand new fool you? And what my name great
fund for the whole family, Those will all be in
the final hour again, as I said, Chris Profets Report
in the World of Soccer. But first, first things first,
there were I think some very impactful and impressionable takeaways

(01:49):
as usual in the NFL from Week sixteen that lead
us into Week seventeen. Number one Josh Allen dude, he
put the Buffalo Bills on his shoulders last week and
the biggest game of the season, maybe one of the
biggest games of his careers. They went into New England.
He dominated. He completed thirty or forty seven passes, three

(02:12):
in fourteen yards, three touchdowns. He was an absolute beast.
He also led the Bills with sixty four rushing yards
on twelve carries. That added up to a very convincing
road victory in New England. And I didn't know that
Buffalo had it in him. And you know you too,
folks who have listened to me over the years. No,
the thing I learned from Dick Shapp who was my mentor.

(02:34):
I don't have a favorite team anymore. I don't. I
root for the story and my favorite sport. It's people
like all sports, but I like people. Uh. Every time
I watched that ESPN thirty for thirty the fourth, the
four Falls of Buffalo, I moved. If there's any franchise
that deserves a winner, it's Buffalo. And I will tell
you I hope I root. I root for them quietly,

(02:56):
I suppose. But the long and the short of it is,
they proved Buffalo bills last week thanks to Josh Allen,
proved that you can't count them out. Now they gotta
go do it again, all right, Cincinnati. Huge tip of
the cap to the Cincinnati Bengals and the good people
at Cincinnati. They completed a reverse of a reversal of

(03:18):
a trend of what you would only define as futility
in the history of their participation in that division. If
you're scoring at home, and I hope you are, when
they're at the history books will show the Bengals swept
the Steelers and the Ravens, and those two have owned
that division since Moby Dick was a meno. Now, actually
the Bengals did it back in two thousand nine, but

(03:40):
the Bengals won those games. Check this out. This is
check this out. The Bengals won all four of those
games by a cumulative combined score of one seven to
fifty eight. Who nicely done Bengals, all right, Not everybody
was in winner last week. One big loser sorry. Ben
Rolsburger completed only thirty five passes for a hundred and

(04:03):
fifty nine yards, one touchdown, one interception. They got beaten
down by the Kansas City Chiefs thirty six to ten,
and then the Seattle Seahawks, who completely imploded. They blew
a double digit lead for the second time in two weeks,
and they find themselves eliminated from the postseason while having
clinched last place in the NFC West for the first time. Well,

(04:28):
George Bush, the second George which was president uh they
joined the division. The Seattle Seahawks joined the current division.
They're remember back in the day they were an NFC team.
Then they became an NFC team when they finished last
in two boy, how the money had fallen? Too bad? Too, said,
wouldn't want to be a Seattle but we'll see. Uh,
you had a hell of a run, but it's over.

(04:52):
Got some clarity last week, at least in the NFC,
because what was interesting I talked about two weeks ago,
the going into week sixty and the only NFC champion
or checked that, the only team that had actually clinched
the playoff spot in the entire NFC where the Green
Bay Packers. And they were the NFC North champs last
year and they are agon this year. But last week
five more teams joined them. The Arizona Cardinals they backed in,

(05:14):
they lost, but they're in the playoffs. The Dallas Cowboys
who just looked good man, they look good. Uh, Kansas
City Chiefs. You heard my you know, dissertation about them
just before midnight and in the dramatic turnaround. Uh in
the last eight games, would you juxtapose their their performance

(05:36):
the first seven games, Los Angeles Rams coins the playoffs spot,
and the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So
six of the NFC teams are spoken for. So the
musical chairs for that last spot will get a little
get a little crowded this next couple of weeks, again
reiterate no one's having him. In Kansas City Chiefs, they

(05:57):
won the league best eight in a row. The story
it continues to be the Chiefs defense. They've only allowed
sixty one total points in their last six home games.
They are on the road tomorrow Cincinnati, but no one
should want to go to Arrowhead in January um and
barring something odd, it appears that the road to Super
Bowl fifty six will very likely wind through that road

(06:21):
once again. By the way, with the Cowboys taking the
NFC East crown even before they had to take the
field last Sunday night, the division still hasn't had a
repeat winner since the Philadelphia Eagles four year rain ended
back in two thousand four. And remember they ended up
in the Super Bowl two thousand five. That was Super

(06:41):
Bowl h thirty nine. They had a nice shootout with
the Tom Brady lad uh New England Patriots and and
and lost. So there you have it. It's musical chairs
every year in the NFC East for the last seventeen years,
which I guess maybe means doubts won't repeat next year.
I'm don just having fun there fellas he relaxed all right.

(07:02):
Speaking of dabster quarterback, Trayvon Diggs still has a chance
at tying a big record, and this is a record
since the Super Bowl era began in sixty six. Four
interceptions he had his eleventh of the season, more than
anyone in the last forty years. If somehow Tryvon Diggs
can get two more interceptions in the last two weeks,

(07:25):
he'll tie lestern Hayes modern standard record of thirteen and
nineteen eighty. And that's another team, the Raiders that went
to the Super Bowl that year and destroyed Dick for
meals Philadelphia Eagles, and he can still match Now. This
goes back to ninety two Dick night train Lane former
line he had fourteen in one season, and he did
in fourteen game. Might have done it in twelve games.

(07:47):
Uh twelve games Dick Dick Knight train Lane did so
Diggs will have the benefit of playing seventeen games. Regardless.
It's an amazing achievement if he does it. UH Rams
wide receiver Cooper Cup he upped his league leading reception
figure to a hundred and thirty two. He caught ten
more balls Sunday against Minnesota and even though Stafford through

(08:11):
three interceptions, the Vikings were not good enough to take
advantage of it. Give it up to the Rams running game,
the Rams defense, and Cooper Cup is freaking amazing. Stafford
had a guy like that in Detroit. His name is
Calvin Johnson. You may have heard of him. Like I know,
Stafford never had any help in Detroit. By the way, Jackson,
like I can't pronounce his last two names since the
hyphen and Ohio state. All I know is he had

(08:32):
three hundred forty nine yards tonight. What a hell of
a performance in the Rose Bowl. Calvin Johnson, the guy
who Stafford played with. Remember Stafford never had any help.
Calvin in a two thousand and thirteen game against the
Cowboys accumulated three hundred and twenty nine yards in one
NFL game receiving yards. But but I digress. Cooper Cup
is a great guy too, and they kind of got

(08:54):
your route for How about the surging Indianapolis Colts. They're
nine and old. When Jonathan Taylor rushes for a hundred yards,
they're owing six when he doesn't. By the way, the
culture at home against the Raiders tomorrow, who have given
up a hundred yards or more rushing in eleven games
this year. All right, give it up to Joe Burrow.

(09:16):
Point I'll tell you there's more young, exciting, talented quarterbacks
in the league than ever. I love Burrow. Uh. He
doesn't like the nightlife in Cincinnati apparently. But Joe's all
about his business man. You don't see him making commercials
every six seconds like Baker Mayfield. Amazing performance Sunday by
second year QB. Joe Burrow five hundred passing yards or

(09:37):
the fourth most in a single game, and only twenty
nine short of Norm brand Brocklin, who was a former
quarterback for the Rams. Of course that was I don't
know what the how it happened was in the water
nineteen fifty two, but Normvan Brocklin broke that record, I
believe in nineteen or set that record in nineteen fifty two,

(09:57):
five hundred and fifty four pasting yards in a game.
And and and what did Burrow do? He orchestrates another
complete beat down of the Ravens. Baltimore Ravens, who look
like they're they're out of gas. They really do. Uh,
we'll see what they can do against the Rams Sunday.
But The Ravens right now look like a team that

(10:17):
resembles a helicopter that needs to fly twenty miles to
get to their destination. They only got about sixteen miles
worth of gas. But Burrow became the first player to
throw for four hundred yards against the same team twice
in the season combined. And this is against Baltimore, the
once proud, incredibly prolific defensive teams that John Harball has had.
Burrow combined for ninety one yards against Baltimore and their

(10:40):
two games. Now, that's a record for the most against
the team in any season. You had to wonder if
if Burrow uh is on I understand as maybe Zach
Taylor has a fantasy team and and and and he uh,
maybe he has Joe Burrow, because since had he one
going away one, they were still throwing shots down the field,

(11:04):
and they were taking advantage of of uh of Don
wink Martindale, who uh who's the defensive coordinator for the
Baltimore Ravens. Allegedly he threw some shade at Burrow before
the game and they made him pay for it. And
by the way, the hit parade continues for Joe Burrow.
He actually threw for two hundred and nine nine yards
in the first half UH last week against Baltimore. That's

(11:27):
the most of any quarterback this season and a half
until later on four hours six hours later whatever Dallas is.
Dak Prescott through for three d and twenty two in
the first half. So we're seeing some some amazing UH
performances and and UH and even coaches. Much was made
when UH Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott had some postgame

(11:51):
comments a few weeks ago when the Bills lost to
the New England Patriots and those blustery conditions in Orchard Parking,
said quote, let's not give more credit than we need
to give credit to Bill Belichick, and this one after
he said the legendary Pat's coach almost exclusively ran the
ball in four ten win. Well, look, give the Bills
their credit now, because they smoke Belichick this last week.

(12:11):
And you know, Buffalo does these things. They tease their fans.
They just tease their fans and then they come crashing
back to earth and they would put boy when they
bring their best. So you know, I couldn't be fly
eagles flying in. I mean, they got a real shot
to get that last slot into the playoffs. Given that

(12:31):
they now they now currently occupy the NFC's final wild
card spot. However, they're gonna have to finish the job
without Miles Sanders. That's a big loss in my view,
because if Ron River and company put the ball put
you know, put it on Jalen Hurts back to UH
to win the game for them tomorrow in Washington, where

(12:53):
the Eagles are four point favorites, that might not be
so easy to do. As I mentioned, in those last
six games, Jalen, it's completion percentages that ranks quarterbacks. He's
only throwing three touchdowns against four interceptions in his last
six games. That's among the league quarterbacks. And it's passerating
only seventy three point seven. That's probably not gonna cut

(13:16):
it over the long term. All right. So, by the way,
if kiss you missed it. Last week, you had the
matchup between the number one and number two Zack Wilson.
He notched the win over number one Trevor Lawrence, the
only man who was drafted ahead of him in UH.
It's a matchup that will go down in history or
probably not. Actually you've already forgotten about it. I guarantee

(13:37):
you've already forgotten about it. But Wilson did set a
team record with a fifty two yard touchdown run, the
longest ever by a Jets quarterback, topping the forty six
yarder his predecessor, Sam Donald broke off last year. So
stop picking on Jets quarterback. By the way, I really
want to give a tip of the cap. Believe me,

(13:59):
my ability and willingness to be a smartass, and those
no wins. But I really have immense respect for Houston
Texans head coach David Culley. They've won four games this year.
He's done a fabulous job. You don't hear any bologna
coming out of there. You don't hear any you know, disenchantment.
They just show up, They play hard, they want out

(14:21):
right as a thirteen point dog. And and and she missed it.
The Texans had a guy that was quarterback there that
everybody says his all world. Maybe he was, but I'm
changing my opinion about him a lot. He won four
games last year, DeShawn Watson. They won four games without
the Shawn Watson Cully bench to Tarron Taylor in favor
of Davis. Loved the dudes getting it done. You know,

(14:41):
in that long line of great Stanford quarterbacks, Jim Plunkett,
John Elway, Davis Mills. Okay, then I say David's love
he's a golfer. I might have I might have worked
with me, um. But let's acknowledge the Texans for a minute.
David Culley honestly inherited about a battle situation action is
any rookie head coach in recent memory. Yet he's not

(15:04):
only coaxed four wins, including Sunday's upside of the Chargers
when they were a thirteen point underdog, He's done it
out of what is arguably the league's most talent deficient roster.
I think they're out of their mind if they don't
give David Culley at least one more year. Why not? Uh?
They You know, the franchise is resetting. This is a

(15:28):
gentleman who's done a fabulous job. You know, these things
have a context. They won four games last year with
DeShawn Watson. Every they went Kadi Wampas to the world,
Culie steps in rights, the ship, calms the storm. Their
four and eleven, and I think they're over under win
total this year was three and a half or four.
They might have one more win in him who knows.

(15:48):
All I know is they play hard and that matters.
All right, All right, coming up, we bring you the
Physic five. Steve Phensic will not be with us tonight.
He's enjoying the holiday with his family. He'll be back
next week. But I do have the Physic five, which
he texted me, and those are his five recommendations for
this upcoming week. In the world of bettings, sometimes they're NBA,

(16:11):
usually the NFL. I think this week is exclusively NFL.

Fox Sports Radio studios will take up to three and

(17:16):
Pacific six and Eastern. We're just nine and a half
hours away from a full slate of NFL Week seventeen,
so it's time to bring him in. The only two
time winner back to back of the prestigious Hilton Super Contests,
Steve Fazik in a segment we call the Physic five
the time, it's not it's the Physick five. These are

(17:39):
the five things you need to hear about now. We're
the only back to back Hilton Super Contest winner, Steve Fick.
Here's Bernie Fratto, all right, So feazis enjoying a night
off with his family. It's New Year's He will be
back next week and throughout the playoffs. But the number
one pick he sent we might be on the opposite

(18:01):
side of this, but let's hear what Fez has to say.
He actually likes the home Cincinnati Bengals catching four against
the visiting Kansas City Chiefs and other Chiefs defense has
been getting the job done, particularly in the second half
of the season. The Bengals offense, I think Fez feels
is too multiple, too versatile to contain everywhere if they're not,

(18:23):
you know, having success through the air. Joe Mixon can
run the ball well, Joe Burrow will keep his wide
receiver matchups favorable. And this game does really sort of have, uh,
the impression of a real shootout. And the Bengals, uh,
you know, they struggle on there and end with quick
receivers and tight ends such as you know, Tyreek Kill

(18:44):
and Travis Kelsey. But look the end, there's one team
that leaves the a f C North and that's that's
the Uh, that's the Bengals. So I think the Fez
feels like you grabbed the points and maybe a thirty
or four thirty one type win for the Chiefs. But
if you grab the points, you get to cash. And
so that's the first game. Fast like second game is

(19:05):
we go to Monday night football and uh, Pittsburgh, we
talked about this. We're in total agreement. They're catching three
and a half against Cleveland. Look, Ben Roethlisberger and two
lifetime against the Cleveland Browns, he's on them. Mike Tomlin
six and all against the bread when coming off a loss,
and his team surroundings thirty five points or more has

(19:26):
never had Tommins never had a losing season. Uh, the
underdog in this series, you should also know, is five
and one in the last six. Pittsburgh at home is
an underdog. And interestingly enough you might not think of this,
but the Steelers and Browns both still have a shot
at winning the s C North. And when you consider
the fact that the Bengals I just mentioned have to

(19:48):
play the Chiefs, who are gonna be fighting like hell
they have the number one seed throughout the playoffs, and
the Ravens, who are not only a mash unit they
have to favor. They have to play the Rams who
have been playing good ball. You know, those two teams
have their hands full. So should the Steelers win this
game Monday night, well they're in fine fettle with an

(20:09):
opportunity to actually win the a f C North if
you can believe it. By the way, Ben most likely
Ben Roethlisberger's final home game in the regular season in
the Hines Field should be an emotional situation. All right,
let's go to Monday night. Green Bay hosts Minnesota. Whenever
a hothouse team I call them, don't team's hothouse team
have to go outside. They're never really quite the same.

(20:31):
It's gonna be seven degrees in Minnesota. And now we
find out that that Kirk Cousins will not play due
to COVID issues. Sean Mannion will step in for him.
Green Bay has got a good defense. Uh, Minnesota's defense
or offense will have you know, they do have Justin
Jefferson available, they do have Delvin cook back. I just

(20:52):
feel like the big problem for Minnesota is that premium
points will be the premium. Fest likes the under in
that game. Now at one point and it was forty three.
Be careful, don't chase the number. I haven't checked. I
will check a little later to see if it's been adjusted,
because you know, when you don't have Kirk Cousins that
he's he's actually worth you know, five six points to

(21:15):
the line. Green Bay was laying seven, they're not laying thirteen.
It fests like the under in that game, number four
staying in the same game. One of the prop bets
you you can get is uh, what would the longest
field goal be in the game? And they currently year
marketed or when fests sent this, you'll have to check
this now forty six yards. Fest likes the under. The

(21:39):
longest field go in the game will be over or
under forty six yards? Like the under, Hey, it's gonna
be seven degrees, man, that that ball is gonna feel
like a like a shot put. So Cincinnati plus four
against Casey Pitt plus three and a half against Cleveland
Monday night, the under in the Green Bay game and
longest field goal under forty six. Now this fifth bet
that fest As is very clever and he calls it

(22:00):
what he the greatest bet parlay ever. Now follow this
because you Fetz wants you to parlay a game that's
gonna be played Week sixty seventeen to a team to
a game that will be played Week eight team. Follow
this as long as your sports book has rotation numbers
assigned to these games. There are Week eight team games out.
These are the two games the Titans are laying three

(22:22):
against Miami Kansas City currently Week eight team now is
laying three at Denver. But if the Titans win tomorrow
and I'm assuming Kansas City wins. Even they don't win,
they can't clinch home field advantage tomorrow, which means Kansas
City will head to Denver next week and that line

(22:44):
will get steam. Fetz thinks it could be as high
as seven. So parlay. Fetz wants you to parlay the
Titans in Week seventeen minus three versus Miami. Parlay it
currently get out a quick Chiefs laying three at Denver.
The thought being that if the titan is win tomorrow,
uh they're at home against Miami, then that three that

(23:04):
Kansas City's laying will be long gone Week eighteen and
you will not be the beneficiary of what is a
very favorable line right now. The Chiefs will be a
must win. It will be a must win in the
sense that of the Chiefs that still have designs on
having home field advantage throughout the playoffs, they're gonna have
to win in Denver next week and that and so

(23:24):
therefore that you'll you will pay an expensive line tax
on that game. All right, coming up, we're gonna give
a whirlwind sort of an analysis on the entire slate
in Week SEVENTEAM in the NFL. But first, well, let's
go to the man. You know, he's very inquisitive. In
a matter of fact, he asked me the other day,
if Aaron Andrews married Aaron Taurus, would she be Aaron Taurus.

(23:49):
Brian Trenthy with the latest Bernie Fretto, Thank you so much,
And you've been concentrating a lot on these NFL games.
We're gonna talk on some of the injuries that could
impact some of those school rors has Those kickoffs are
a couple hours away from happening here on a Sunday,
But I want to begin with college football, where number
six Ohio State roared back and beat number eleven Utah

(24:10):
forty to forty five Buckeyes quarterback c J. Stroud. Listen
to these numbers, five hundred seventy three yards passing that
That is incredible, isn't it, Bernie? And then to top
it off, six touchdowns and one interception fall So yeah,
I mean I would love that ratio in any sort

(24:33):
of ulterior. There was also number seven Baylor putting down
number eight Old Miss twenty one to seven. Now you
read the headline there, and a couple of things to
keep in mind. The Bears did have ten sacks their
pass rush was stout, but also the ReBs lost their
starting quarterback Matt Krawl with an apparent ankle injury in
the first quarter. He's a presumptive first rounder in this

(24:55):
upcoming NFL draft, number nine Oklahoma State. Bernie, did you
of this game? They were down twenty seven against her,
and then Notre Dame fell apart and and the fighting
Irish gave up thirty straight points and Mike Gundy with
a big grin on his face as his Cowboys win
thirty seven to thirty five. Then there was what took

(25:16):
place in the NBA yesterday. The Warriors got another one
there twenty eight and seven on the season. They take
down the Jazz one six team that Nuggets played the Rockets.
But as Bernie and I were talking about last hour,
the story was in the locker room at the half.
The outcome was secondary, and it was assistant coach John
Lucas getting into it with a couple of his players,

(25:39):
and some of the players did not like what he
had to say, including Kevin Porter Jr. So much so that,
according to reports, he threw something in the locker room
and then walked off in frustration, got in his car
and departed the arena at halftime. The Nuggets ended up
winning this game one to one eleven. The Clippers overcome

(26:02):
the Nets one twenty to one sixteen. The Damar Rosen
game winning heros continue for the second straight game. He
hits a game winner and the Bulls take down the
Wizards one to one nineteen. The Rosen with twenty eight points.
The Bucks got a triple double from Yada's de Da
Kombo and a win over the Balkans one thirty six

(26:22):
to one thirteen, and then a couple of Nuggets. As
it relates to the NFL, according to multiple outlets, for
quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo not gonna play today against the Texans
with that right thumb injury. His teammate, running back Elijah
Mitchell is going to power through a knee issue. Rams
running back Can Makers is not going to play today.
There was some hope he might be able to go,

(26:43):
but reports say no, dealing with an achilles injury. And finally,
Bucks wide receiver Mike Evans is going to play against
the Jets dealing with a hamstring injury. But Bernie, They're
not gonna just completely throw him out there. They're gonna
reduce his role, so you might see bits and pieces
of Mike Evans. And I'm sure Tom Brady likes to
hear that as they send it back to our quarterback

(27:05):
handling things and holding things down in Las Vegas. Bernie Fratto, Oh,
that's a courtesy of Tony Soprano. All right, thanks so much.
Let's resume Chris with the NFL Week seventeen. All right,
the NFC game of the week clearly is the Cardinals
of the Cowboys. Cowboys laying four and a half. Arizona's
lost three in a row and they were a favorite

(27:26):
in all three games. Lost them a right, But if
you've seen Arizona play, they look like a drunk crossing
and icy streets, self inflicted wounds, turnovers, miss field goals,
eleven penalties versus Indianapolis last week, they really do. Miss J. J. Watt,
you feel like the Cowboys win. It's a light line,
less than five. You feel like the Cowboys win and

(27:49):
cover uh. People that I know that I trust think
one of the best plays of the week. And you
can't get rich laying in this many points. But believe
it or not, Yeah, I'm referring to the New England
Patriots are laying sixteen and a half against the Jaguars.
Bill Belichick is actually twenty one and six against the spread,
is a double digit favorite in his career as long

(28:10):
as they're less than twenty points. Well, that's less than
twenty points. And last week was the first time with
Bill Belichick defense in twenty two years failed the forces
opponent to punt. You know that they're gonna take it
out on the Jaguars tomorrow. On the Jaguars, they were
poorly coached by Ervand Meyer, and I'm not sure if

(28:31):
some of the residual effects continue, but we were told
that when he left they'd start to win. Well that's
not happening. I'm not betting the game, but man, it
feels like it's seven to three ridden all over it.
I don't want at least sixteen and a half points
against anybody, but people I know that I that I respect.
I think this game is a complete wipe out. Talked

(28:51):
about the Raiders and Colts earlier with Joe Gabs Culture
nine and oh when Jonathan Taylor rushes for a hundred
yards soh six, When he does it, well, the Raiders
might be with the doctor ordered the Raiders have surrendered
a hundred yard rusher and eleven games this season. Here's
the thing that bothers me about the Raiders. In this sense,
the Raiders are a team trying to make the playoffs.

(29:13):
They hold their fate. If they win their last two games,
they're in. But their point differential this year minus seventy one.
That is not indicative of a playoff team. Meanwhile, the
Colts their plus one oh seven. They do get Carson
Wentz back. Frank Reich has proven once again he's a
phenomenal coach. Jonathan Taylor He's going to get m VP votes.

(29:35):
The Colts are are firing on all cylinders and the
Raiders will have difficulty stopping the run in a game
that will probably to be not I would say it
will not exactly draw a hell of a lot of attention.
It's uh this, it's it's it's the Giants at the Bears.
Giants at the Bears. Um New York Giants, believe it

(29:57):
or not, have been outyarded this. You're buy an average
of minus sixty yards per game. There's only three and
twelve when the stats battle, but New York is actually
a seven and old against the spread. When they're a
dog of plus six or more against non divisional teams,
which means, if you want to bet this game, do
you only look to the New York Giants If you
want to bet this game, I've got a doctor, psychiatrist.

(30:20):
I'll have your call. I just think there's just too
many unknowns. Tomorrow is really a tough card. I talked
about this with Aaron Torres and UH and uh at
Jason Martin at Pacific and my usual hit every week.
There's a lot of games out there Tomorrow just completely
stay away from. To me, that's one of them, all right,
the Tampa Bay Bucks. They visit New York, that's the Jets.

(30:41):
They're laying thirteen and a half um. Interestingly enough, now
here's one you might want to look at. The dog. Okay,
Super Bowl champs are only twenty three and forty against
the spread when they're double digit road favorites. I feel
like Tampa Bay gets in, gets out, don't get anybody hurt. Uh.
And you know they have designs on repeating. Uh. One

(31:04):
of the things about Tampa Bay this year, Uh, they
were the beneficiary last year. The Tampa Bay Bucks is
staying relatively healthy all season. Not the case this year.
They're missing receivers, missing Leonard Fournette. They've been banged up
on defense. Thirteen and a half might be a lot
to lay on the road tomorrow in Chile, New York.
We'll have to see Broncos at the Chargers. I can't

(31:27):
figure out the Chargers and incredibly embarrassing loss last week
for the Chargers. They go to Houston. There's that David Culley.
Uh look, mother goes that man again, David Culley as
a third team point underdog, they beat the Chargers. The
Charger were the only double digit favorite last week. They
were five of them. They were the only team to
not get the cover or the other four covered. Chargers

(31:49):
only one and six against the spread as divisional home
favorite of more than six points when coming off a loss,
and there were about a six point favorite, or check
that more than five points. Tough game, tough game the Broncos.
The Broncos are going to give an effort tomorrow. It's
a divisional game, all right. This game's got me intrigued.
Texans and forty Niners were laying fifteen, but it was

(32:12):
a Baker's dozen down to twelve, all right in Houston, Texans.
Did I mentioned they had at fourteen players out last
week due to COVID Texans didn't, yet they still prevailed
as a home dog of two touchdowns over the aforementioned Chargers.

(32:32):
Now the forty Niners have the Rams on deck next
week and they're currently the number six seed. They can't
really look ahead. Niners do need to win this game
to to you know, hanging there to to to seal
their their playoff pulpes as it's getting tight in the NFC.
But I don't know if I want to lay twelve points,
especially since Jimmy g will not be playing Trey Lance

(32:55):
and we have no idea if Tray Lance can play.
If you think he can just step intomorrow and winning
them the game of the National Football League, well we'll see.
I he's so, I don't think he's progressed all that
well this year we'll find out. Make a layer out
of me tree. We'll see Panthers. Isn't the Saints shown
Payton his tenant two against his spread when he's following
a Monday night football game and'll have his team prepared.

(33:17):
The Saints are looking to avenge a nineteen point loss
Week two against his Saint Panthers team Saints are going
to the playoffs this year. Meanwhile, the Panthers are going
into the Tank and Matt rule in their second season,
and they've completely wilted against the run, which is bad.
Because the Santa album Camaro not a game I'm involved in.
I would have probably fired on the Lions tomorrow at

(33:38):
Jared Goff's been playing Lions getting eight points. But you
know Seahawks stink. Uh, They're they're getting out yarded this year.
Excuse me, I've got I've had that through at sicknessile
week I had during him and Malartre have to bear
with me. Uh, I don't know what's going on. I
got this aliens, this cold trying to attack my throat.

(33:59):
I might have to go back and start smoking camera
non filters again. Maybe that'll fix the problem. Back to Seattle. Look, Seattle,
they're averaging uh less than eighty two yards versus their
opponent and only three and twelve with stats battle this year.
But what are you gonna do? Uh? The Lions will
have their backup quarterback. They're gonna play hard. The games
stay away. To me, did Seattle should win? But to

(34:21):
ask him to to win by margin and cover eight.
That that's a lot Falcons and Bills. Bills laying fourteen,
Bills holding on to the number four seed. Big win
in New England. Be careful of a letdown. But I
can never back Atlanta. They just bug me. I like
Matt Ryan, but when it matters, he's not there. Every
time they go for it on fourth and one, they
don't make it. They missed it. Bills could, Bills could

(34:43):
roll on their them out again. Another game. I don't
want to be involved in. Uh, Dolphins and Titans. I'm
intrigued by Arndy Spaniards predicted to Dolphins to win nine
in a row. He's seven out, He's seven out of
nine so far. Last time that happened was when the
Dolphins won seven and row. They had some guy named
Dan Marino quarterback. By the way, since two thousand sixteen,

(35:03):
teams have actually won seven games in a row, had
a seven game winning street. What happened when they went
to win that eighth game, Well, they went thirteen and
three against the number. So the Dolphins catching three and
a half tomorrow at the Titans and what should be
a very very good game. Tennessee has to keep winning
if they have designs on the on the home field

(35:24):
advantage in the playoffs between them in Kansas City. And
then of course you know the Dolphins. I mean, if
they win their last two, they're in the playoffs. So
that's a de facto playoff game. All all the Dolphins
coming off a tough short week. They had to play
the Saints on the road, and but at least they
don't have to travel too far. Final game, Rams ling
four and a half at the Ravens. Ravens have lost

(35:45):
four straight. The Rams looked two and four against the
spread end and the stats battle in their last six games,
which Matt Stafford's gonna show up. Baltimore has got a
depleted secondary, but hardball fifteen and eight against the spread
when facing playoff off elimination, and the Ravens are That's
the game I'm gonna watch. Should be fun. So there

(36:05):
you have it. You know, Week seventeen is upon us
January two. Imagine that where it's not the final weekend
in the NFL, but lots of games tomorrow we'll have
playoff implications as the picture gets much much clearer and
throughout the league, there will be some some I think
some surprises tomorrow. By the way, Julian Silvers has get

(36:30):
some recol and cough drops the best. Thanks. Thanks for
the heads up. I probably should do that. I remember
that Goofy commercial years ago, that long horn recor. Oh
sorry for that, folks, Please don't drive off the road.
Is not my fault. Any issues called my attorney, the
law firm Adoey chievement. How all right? Coming up? If
you bet the last year, we are in a new

(36:50):
year two. It's already January two if you can believe it.
Which teams have been the most profitable to bete? What
did you say from you know, Major League's, NFL, college football,
in the NBA, and what you've been the worst to
bet on? I'll tell you too late to do anything
about it now, but yeah, I'll let you know how

(37:11):
it worked out for you. I'm Bernie Fratto Comedy Live

stay here listening to Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, back on Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Radio.
Bernie Fratto coming to your live from the Las Vegas
Fox Sports Radio Studios. I want to remind you we're
brought to you by one of our favorite cities, Las Vegas,

(37:33):
the greatest arena on earth. Every game, match raising competition,
it is always on. No one does sports like Vegas
and the excitement is endless. So make sure to plan
your trip today and visit Las Vegas dot com. Don't
I know I live here all right? Speaking of Las Vegas,

(37:55):
Speaking of betting, Speaking of the sports books, We've now
got a full year a under our belt. Who performed
for you last year? Who were the most profitable teams
to bet on in and who were the least profitable
teams to bet on? Hope springs and tournaments? A new year.

(38:17):
But I'll tell you what. Let's start with the good news.
The most profitable teams in Start with Major League Baseball.
This should come as no surprise. The San Francisco Giants.
We're by far the most profitable team to bet on.
If you bet a hundred dollars a game, you would
have netted forty dollars. No surprise. Five reputable sports books

(38:40):
all had The Arizona Diamondbacks last year is a higher
win total than the forty of the Giants, and they
defied the odds. In the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys twelve
and three against the number. About in the NBA, the
Memphis Cruzies, they got a nice club, saw them beat
the Lakers the other night. They are a team of
the future. Sixty three and forty seven against the spread.

(39:00):
You gotta believe that La markets are gonna I'm gonna
catch you up with them eventually. College football all before
last night, the Michigan Wolverines. They were eleven and two
against the number. And if you listen to me, you
know how much I like Georgia. In that game, I
had a fine gentleman call when I was doing the
Ben Mallar sho. I think his name was Kurt from
Saint Clement. He wanted to bet me. He really like

(39:20):
Michigan and thought that offensive line would prevail. I said, O.
Politely declined, but I've already bet Georgia, and I explained why.
And there were a lot of trends that really favored Georgia,
and they came through, and I think Michigan just simply
simply met their match. The worst teams NFL. If you
backed the Bears blindly five and twelve against the spread, ouch,
that hurts. Here's a team again, this should be no

(39:43):
surprise of the worst team and then National League. In baseball,
if you bet the Potres a hundred dollars a game
blindly throughout last year, you only lost four thousand, one
hundred dollars. You lost just under forty one units. Because
expectations were very high for the Patres, and obviously in
baseball were they we're expensive to bet many nights they
were mind us one sixty NBA. The Houston Rockets, you

(40:04):
heard Brian Fenny talk about them only forty two and
six against the number on. Finally, in college football, the
Indiana Hoosiers only one or eleven against the spread last year.
Maybe they can bring back normandale I realized he coached basketball,
but maybe he can coach football and they can pass
the ball five times. Coming up, we've got a problem,
but developing a situation in college football. I'm gonna give

(40:27):
you the remedy stick and stay. This is Bernie Fraddo,
Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Radio, the Fox Sports Sunday
Train Rules On I'm Bernie Frittock Company, Your Life in
the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios, eight hours and
fifty nine minutes away from NFL Week seventeen and If
you want to hear or the replay of our analysis,

(40:48):
it'll be on the podcast shortly after we sign off
three and Pacific six am Eastern. You know, the last
couple of years, who have been the COVID era in
the United States, two years out of our lives, uh
nolin inside. Although we all are hopeful that perhaps in
too that we can start to see this decline your

(41:09):
mouth to God's ears. The bottom line is this is
that there's been a real randomness to life. There's a
there always has been in society. We just don't notice that.
We just never really noticed as much as we noticed
it now. And I'm gonna tie this into what I
believe is they call the college football playoff. But it's
almost as like life is imitating a movie script right now.

(41:32):
It's art imitating life. And if you think I'm joking,
here's a here's a here's a story for you movie
trivia buffs. You know, in the movie Magnolia starring Tom Cruise,
which came out in It was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson,
who has also directed the just release Liquors Pizza, the
fabled Ricky J. Well. He narrates an account of a

(41:53):
young man who lost his life in Los Angeles, and
they swear this story is true, and it adds new
dimensions to the word quote random. Follow this. This young
man's name was Sydney Berenger, and in one night, he
attempted to commit suicide by jumping off the roof of

(42:14):
a tall building because he was distraught. He hated his parents,
he was tired of than fighting, and he absolutely thought
they would literally kill each other one day. In fact,
even the family even kept a shot in him in
the house, but it wasn't It wasn't supposed to be loaded. Now,
Sydney jumped off the top of a building and he's
as he was passing by the sixteenth floor on his

(42:37):
way to the ground, precisely passing by the sixteenth floor
where his parents lived. During his fall, he's actually shot
by his mother, who has pulled the trigger around his
father as they were in the midst of a heated argument.
The bullet misses, the father, flies out the window and
lodges itself and Sydney's back. Sydney died instantly from the

(42:59):
fatal shotgun blast, killed by his own mother, who ironically
didn't even know the gun was loaded. She merely pulled
the trigger to scare her husband. In doing so, she
murdered her own son, who had in fact loaded the
gun a couple of weeks earlier in the hopes that
one day his parents would literally kill each other. But

(43:21):
the story doesn't end there. Sydney actually landed in a
large net on the ground that, for some reason inexplicably
had been placed there on the ground directly below Sydney's fall.
The net certainly would have saved his life. It's my understanding,
due to police accounts and records, this story is true.

(43:44):
Random you tell me? How does John Madden have the
wonderful documentary on's life Christmas Day? And he passes three
days later? I went to a movie today and it
advertised a big party celebration and for the birthday January

(44:05):
of of Betty White. Betty passed last night. Apparently didn't
get the memo, They didn't take it off the screen.
Random you tell me. But I digress. You see, even
this stupid college football playoff format to me, is random.
So these are my thoughts. Look, we all love college football.

(44:25):
We love every bit of it. The drama, the action,
you name it, well, almost all of it. See, because
we have what's called a playoff format that I think
is bogus, and it's the spiritual successor to the prior
hated BCS format. So these are what I think the
problems are. First of all, the system is fundamentally flawed
because there are only four invitations, but they're five power conferences,

(44:47):
so some of thes inevitably left out. No matter what.
Now you tell me, in what world and what league
and what system do you win your conference and you
are denied a chance to play for all the marbles.
Now I know you're gonna tell me Alabama's gonna win anyway,
George is gonna win it anyway. You might be right,
but there's been plenty of upsets in the history of
the world of sports. I covered one September one, two

(45:09):
thousand seven the Big House in ann Arbor, when Appalachian
State beat Michigan. See, since they only picked four and
there's five power conferences, and tebody tell me the logic
because it gets worse. Do they pick the four best
or the foremost deserving? This is the biggest argument I

(45:29):
hear when media pundents talk about who should get in
the playoff, because there are those who want the four
best teams and others who want the fore most deserving.
So it's essentially an argument between an aristocracy and a meritocracy.
What I hate about this argument is that both sides
are wrong. Now why do I say that? Because there
is no objective right or wrong answer, And when you
are talking about a playoff slot that can award the

(45:51):
winner of that slot millionson dollars, there should be an
objective system in place to award that slot. The four
best slash deserving teams isn't an argument that has an
objective answer, Thus it needs to be avoided the selection process.
See here's why. The four best teams argument involves what

(46:11):
I call the eye test, which is completely biased and
has no standard on how to judge the team. Because
one team can win by fifty and thus pass the
eye tests for some for for one person, but another
team can, but another person can ridicule that team because
they only won that much by because of the competition
they played, and so based on the eye test that

(46:34):
that argument falls through for them. So we already have
a conturing position even though the game was the same
for each viewer. Now, the quote foremost deserving argument fails
to be objective too, because teams don't play the same schedules.
For example, many years ago, Oregon State played a much
harder schedule than oregan and nonconference, and the Beaver season
opener against Ohio State was a much harder game than

(46:57):
any game Oregon played that season. However, these games are
scheduled years in advance, and what might appear to be
a strong strength to schedule can quickly look into a
cupcake train. Just asked Alabama in past years and take
a look at their non conference schedule. Right, So, how
can you punish your team for attempting to schedule tougher

(47:20):
games and failing while rewarding teams who don't even try?
How do you judge those teams from level ground? And
invites all kinds of controversy and invites all kinds of
what I would consider to be injustice as it were.
Here's the second issue I have. Is this system truly
open to all? No, it's not. It's basically a made

(47:43):
for TV ongoing drama series designed to maximize viewership and
revenue by Stevie during brand names. They want brand names
in this tournament. Imagine if Oklahoma State and Beaten Baylor
in the Big Twelve championship game, the way they beat
Oklahoma or not, you think that crew, do you think
they would have taken Cincinnati? I don't know, man, I'd

(48:07):
have been very worried for Cincinnati. And there's one question
though that that really has bothered me, and I'm gonna
ask it again. And this pretends to the FBS series
in college football. In what sport on any level do
you win your conference championship but you are denied an
invitation of the postseason? So see, in truth, there really

(48:29):
is no college football playoff. It's nothing but a mirage.
You know, the NFL has a playoff. Major League Baseball
has a playoffs, so it's a major league soccer, the NHL,
college basketball, March Madness is wonderful. All of them have playoffs.
You know what college football has. College football has an invitational.

(48:53):
They know a playoff. They have an invitational. There's a
distinct difference because see, a playoff requires every team in
the league to have an equal shot at qualifying at
the start of the season. See, if the Jets go undefeated,
they go to the playoffs, even if it means the
Patriots don't get to go and stay home. Now. I
challenge anyone to find me a team sports league that

(49:14):
excludes members from the playoffs regardless of their performance other
than college football. It's happened. We have examples. By the way,
you cannot say that every team has a path to
the playoffs if you are actively excluding teams that haven't
lost a single game in two straight seasons. Remember you
see f four years ago. Well, last year, Cincinnati did

(49:36):
everything they were asked to do. They won every game,
and for that they got nothing. And like the judge
Males in the preseason in Las Vegas, and the Cincinnati
Bearcats were a hundred one to win the national championship,
might as well have been one trillion to one because
they were never given the chance, no access, no path,
even though the Cincinnati Bearcats did everything they were asked

(50:00):
to do. And yes, the problem is only located in
the FBS. The NFL features four teen teams in the playoffs.
The FCS has a playoff that features twenty four teams.
Division two features teams, Division three has thirty two, and
most high school leagues basically fire hundred above and you're
in a playoff spot. Yet only D one FBS features

(50:23):
four teams that it requires a team to not only
belong to a Part five conference, and there was an
exception this year, but to also pass code the eye
test of a bias committee. The argument of players safety
and the amount of games played becomes completely disingenuous when
every other football league in the country voluntarily uses a
playoff format with more teams. The committees are farcet too,

(50:46):
because they're visibly biased towards Part five conferences, and many
of the members are current or former eight s or
even coaches and Part five schools, and so the biggest
bias against some of the members of the par five.
Give any example, some think alab Go back to seventeen.
You can research this. A lot of folks thought Alabama
should not have been allowed into the twenty seven seventeen

(51:10):
College Football Playoff, regardless of the fact they won the
national championship that year, but the committee members many felt
they shouldn't have got in. I'll tell you why Alabama
failed to win their conference championship in seventeen. This is
something the community the committee had previously touted as a requirement.
The Alabama didn't even play in the conference title game

(51:30):
that year. Now that very rule kept TCU and Baylor
out ineen, but it didn't keep Alabama out. And Alabama
proved they were worthy because they won the national championship
that year, even though they not only didn't win their
conference championship, they didn't play in the conference championship game.
And believe it or not, they had a strength of
schedule that ranked behind both Ohio State and Penn State,

(51:50):
neither of whom were selected. Alabama simply jump both of them.
And I wonder why again they were deserving? But the
but the but the methodology they used. Other schools TCU, Baylor,
Penn State in the House States suffered by every metric
touted by the Quote Objective Committee. Alabama had fallen short
in every category in yet they made it in any ways,

(52:12):
why because Man, it's Alabama, their brand, The Tide brings
ratings and money. There you have it. It's an invitational tournament,
not a playoff. The community the committee. By the way,
I've used the playoff as a TV show, no doubt
about it. It's not a tournament to crown the best team.
It's a TV show. All right. Here's my quick solution.
I don't like the twelve team format because four teams

(52:33):
to get to buy it's gonna create confusion. Don't do that.
Eight teams qualify for the College Football Playoff, six guaranteed
spots that do not change Pact twelve Champ, Big ten Champ,
Big twelve Champ, CEC Champ, SEC Champ, and the Group
of five Champ with the best record. And let's create
some normalcy and that all conferences must play nine conference games.
No more SEC teams playing f c S schools in November.

(52:57):
You must play in your conference championship game to qualify
for the playoffs. That makes the regular season important, and
it makes it a championship based series. Now, the last
two slots, they go to the two highest rank at
largest who played in their conference championship games, playing their
conference championship games as long as they had at least
one win versus a Power five opponent. Since night the
qual qualified, right, there'd be Notre dame this year. So

(53:20):
there you have it. Uh, while Rome burns and this
glorious sport, he's still watched. Believe me, you're gonna watch it.
And they've benefited mightily from from from the sports wagering aspect.
But why not create a real tournament not get at
the end. It still might be Alabama and Georgia, but
a lot of these teams that win their conference championships

(53:41):
would love a chance to go and say they went
to the playoffs. And by the way, don't tell me
it's gonna ruin the rest of the balls, because you
can incorporate the current Bowl structure to host some of these,
you know, quarterfinals, semifinal and final playoff games. Committee, If
you're listening, I might be available to can sell you
because what we have now is passable. That's all we got,

(54:04):
so we'll take it, but it could be so much better.
Speaking of tournaments, the NBA, they're considering constructing an in
season tournament with pool play that would be played in
December every year. Well, at work, I'll tell you what
the latest is. We'll bring in the crew to chop
it up. I'm Bernie Friddower Company live from Las Vegas,
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to

(54:24):
Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio. All right back
on Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Radio on Bernie Fridda
Company Live from Las Vegas. Fox Sports Radio Studios will
take you up three and Pacific six Am Eastern some
NBA news these past few weeks, conversations that had taken
place about a possible upcoming concept uh are starting to

(54:47):
get real, you know, pick up real steam, and there's
not a dot in my mind. This is a makeup
to try to recapture some of the incredible lost revenue,
which is to tune up about a billion dollars during
the COVID season in the shortened season and follow and
the long and the short of it is that an
NBA in season tournament that would be played in December
with pool play and include million dollar payouts has renewed

(55:10):
menum momentum to create this perhaps as soon as December
or December, and again they're negotiating on an in season
tournament that would have pool play to be part of
the regular season schedule. And what would happen is the
teams with the best records would advance to an eight team,
single elimination tournament that would culminate prior to Christmas. Now,

(55:32):
there's some pushback because it would cost some franchises to
home dates and in some cases that could be three
or four million dollars. It's not so there's some things
to work out, but let's just talk and it's actually
let's bring in the crew. Let's Brian Finley. Let's say
you're watching the NBA and uh, the season starts in October,
October November, and all of a sudden, the season halts

(55:54):
for a couple of weeks to play this in season
pool play tournament between the final teams in December. Would
you like to see that they're copying something that's already
done in soccer but not very well? What are your thoughts? Yeah, Bernie,
it's interesting that the news about this sort of picking
up steam as far as a pool play. There was
a story that was posted on Christmas Day by ESPN

(56:16):
which gets me thinking, I wonder if this has anything
to do with the NFL taking Christmas Day away from
the NBA and the NBA striking out multiple times on
trying to go head on with the NFL during the
early part of the NBA season when there is that
intersection between the NFL and the NBA and trying to

(56:40):
generate sort of like an n C double all. Would
you like the idea? Is all I want to know.
Do you like the idea? Because I think what's happening, Brian,
They're trying to make up for lost revenue. The NBA
Christmas Day happens only on Sunday once every seven years,
so well, I'm not trying to figure out the ideology
when I'm trying to figure out as a fan as
a broadcaster. Do you like this? I be it? Would you?
Would you watch it? I would absolutely watch it because

(57:03):
it's gonna set up Bernie an n C double a tournament.
Feel everybody likes that because it's sudden death and the
love of the unexpected. It's not like the Best of
seven series. You never know what's gonna happen on a
single game, So I love it. Okay, Good's that's good
to hear, Brian, because you bring up a point that
because of the newness and the single elimination aspect, which

(57:23):
obviously drives march madness, So it would be something you
would watch. That's what I'm looking for here, all right,
Christopher Fitt, we'll talk. We'll get your soccer report here
at about an hour. But are they taking a page
from soccer? But let's not go down that road. Do
you like this idea? What's your knee jerk reaction? Will
you watch it? I think they are taking a page
from it, knee jerk reaction, though I'm not too interested

(57:46):
in it. And to go back to the soccer angle,
one of the things that makes something like the f
A Cup, which is the n season tournament that happens
in England with all the English clubs over there from
but that happens with clubs from every level. So a
lot of the appeal of that sort of tournament and
those kind of in season tournaments is that the big
clubs also have to play with clubs who are at
like the third flight of the fourth light, basically minor league.

(58:09):
Like if we did this in MLB, we'd have Baseball,
we'd have like, I don't know, the New York Yankees
squaring up against the Toledo Mudheads. There's no but again again,
I'm just trying to figure out from a fan standpoint,
would you watch it. I'm sitting from a fan standpoint
without that element where all these teams are in the
same association, the same league, the same level. I know
there's talent disparities in the NBA, but it's still all

(58:30):
the same teams, and that you have to qualify, there't
be the final eight. I'm just not interested. And then
there's not that kind of big upset Goliath versus David
Field to it, And that's entirely possible. And the NBA
has been leagued to haves and have nots for three
or four decades. Bull Benson, you're right there in Laker territory,
Clipper territory. If all of a sudden, Christmas time rolled

(58:52):
around and the league stopped to have this a team tournament,
which again the NBA the regular season games would would
be prosecuted from the standpoint of qualifying for this eight
team tournament. Would you watch it from a fan standpoint?
I mean, if that's the only basketball on I guess.
But no, I wouldn't go out of my way. So
it's not something to be fired up about. It's not

(59:13):
something you look forward to, like March Madness or anything
like that. No, well, you're asking the wrong person because
I don't look forward to March Madness at all. Yeah,
that's that's my fault for drawing. No, there's nothing you
know nothing about it would change my nbavitorship. Okay, sounds good.
Uh so kind of we got two nose in one, yes,
and I'm somewhere in the middle in the sense that

(59:35):
would I watch it, Yeah, out of curiosity, but I'm
not so sure that they'd be fired up for it.
And I'm always concerned about what I would consider to
be the law of unintended consequences. Can you guys imagine,
let's say the Lakers all of a sudden next year
finally fount in the youth, and you know, you've got Carmelo,
and you've got rest of Westbrook, and you've got Dwight

(59:56):
Howard and Cream comes out of retirement, and then they
get John have Check and then all of a sudden,
there in first place, and but they're also in this tournament.
And then in the tournament, Lebron breaks his leg and
mrs the whole season. Boy, can you imagine the backlash?
And here's the thing, guys, The idea has been percolating
and we've come to find out for years and it's

(01:00:18):
it might have some success in terms of acceptance, it's
all gonna come down to the Union because that playing
tournament before the bubble actually got a lot of lift,
and they even did it this last year and it
seems to have picked up steam. But again, that's the
end of the year playoff tournament. It's only going to
affect a few teams. Most teams have got you know,

(01:00:40):
if you're in the top six, you're slotted. So here's
the deal. Behind the scenes, it's my understanding the Union
has been talking broadly with players on the idea. There's
been some team meetings, there's been some conversations, there's been
some phone calls. Here's what you've got to watch, because
we're already in January, all right, and the National Basketball

(01:01:02):
Player Association's February Winter meetings are coming up here in
just a few weeks on All Star weekend in Cleveland.
I think it's gonna be discussed much more fervently there
in Cleveland. There's been some apprehensiveness from some of the
big market owners because those are the guys that generate
larger home games, you know, revenue streams, and so you

(01:01:26):
might have a situation where you have to drop to
home dates to be able to introduce his tournament, and
those games can be between three and four million for
the most profitable big market teams per game. So in
the final analysis here we will see how much knockas
Adam Silver has because he's a huge champion of the
idea and he believes he can rally ownership on this,

(01:01:49):
and then it's gonna come down to the players vote
and we will see whether or not the players vote
to do this and it passes. Muster coming up sp
a big basketball hire this past week, and it's gonna
raise the question. I thought this young lady would be
the first female head coach in the NBA. Doesn't look
like that's gonna happen anytime soon. But we'll bring in

(01:02:11):
the crew and talk about the concept. Who will be
the first league to hire a female head coach or manager?
But first let's go to the man. He's always very inquisitive.
As a matter of fact, he asked me before the show,
if Aaron Andrews married Hank Aaron, would she be Aaron Aaron.

(01:02:33):
Let's go to Bran filling with the latest that would
be the case. I actually knew somebody whose name was Judy. Judy,
so how about that. It's it's fascinating this. Yeah, that's
a true story. Also a true story. Bernie is number
six Ohio State, overcoming a double digit deficit at the
Rose Bowl on Saturday and taking down number eleven Utah
fort Buckeyes quarterback c J. Stroud five seventy three yards

(01:02:58):
passing that was a Rose Bowl record. He also had
six touchdowns and one interception, and Utes quarterback Cam Rising
went down late in the fourth quarter with an apparent
head injury. Number seven Baylor rides away with a win
against number eight Old Miss to seven in New Orleans
at the Sugar Bowl. Revs quarterback Matt Correll, who was

(01:03:21):
destined to be a first rounder in this upcoming NFL draft,
he goes down in the first half with an apparent
ankle injury. That didn't help things for the Revs, and
then also their offensive line gave up ten sacks. Number
nine Oklahoma State Weather's number five Notre Dame thirty seven
to thirty five the Cowboys thirty audience points. In the NBA,

(01:03:43):
the Warriors stick it to the Jazz sixteen. Steph Curry
twenty eight points, nine assists and six rebounds. That Nuggets
Rockets game, Yeah they played it, Yeah they had a
final score, but the game story was centered on drama
that ensued in the locker room at the half inside
the Rockets locker room where their assistant coach John Lucas

(01:04:07):
was putting some of his players on blast, namely Kevin
Porter Jr. And Christian would. Those guys were not having it.
They didn't like the criticism, and Porter Jr. Threw something
in the room, according to reports, and then said I'm
out of here, and at the half he decided to
get in his car and leave the arena. Clippers are

(01:04:29):
victorious against the Nets sixteen after l A scored forty
points in the fourth quarter. Tomorrow, de Rosen, for the
second straight game hits a game winner. This time. It's
a seventh straight victory for the Bulls and they get
past the Wizard's one one nineteen in the NFL Week seventeen.
About to get going here in about let's say eight

(01:04:51):
and a half hours, and Forts quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is
not going to go today. All indications say that as
he's dealing with that right thumb injury. Bucks wide receiver
Mike Evans is supposed to play against the Jets, dealing
with a hamstring injury, but any reduced role. His teammate
Antonio Brown is trending towards playing now. His acle injury

(01:05:13):
was causing him some problems during practice this week, but
it seems to not be getting in the way. And
finally Vikings tighten Tyler Conklin is slated to play against
the Packer despite a hamstring problem. With that, let's bounce
the basketball back to Bernie Freddo in Las Vegas, and
I see what you did there by the way, Kevin
Porter Jr. They're they're saying you through an object and

(01:05:36):
needed to be separated from Lucas and got in his
car and left. How soon you forget Kevin Porter Jr.
Was playing for the Cavaliers, that was his prior team,
and I believe he was traded from the Calves to
the Rockets after screaming and throwing food in the locker room. Uh,
I'm guessing somebody who has to remember that. I can't
be the only one. So I'm detecting a pattern here.

(01:05:57):
But be that as it may. Maybe they should have
hired Becky Hammond. Becky Hammond's the young lady I'm referring to.
I have huge, hugely impressed with her. She was just
hired by the Las Vegas as is uh at the
w n B A coach by Bill Lambert. Prior Bill
is heading upstairs. Becky spent sixteen years as a player.

(01:06:17):
She's a Hall of Famer player I'm not sure she's
in the Hall of Fames. She will be, she deserves
to be. Here's where I'm going with that. Becky Hammond
has been on the bench under Gregg Popovich for six
years and she came through town here and coached. She
was the first ever female to coach be a head
coach for the NBA Summer League team. I've covered the
league eight years. She won the league that year. Uh,

(01:06:39):
they won the NBA Summer League in coaching the Spurs.
Remember the very first guy I interviewed her. She's very
she's super She's superb. She could coach in the NBA.
Not adopt my mind. And I really thought that Gregg Popovitch,
who gets crotchety, yer and angrier every year, and he'd
always get that look on his face like held just
mailed a bad fart. I thought he'd stepped on by
now and Becky Hammond would slide right in. But that

(01:07:01):
didn't happen. Uh. Becky Hammond, you know that first game
in the Summer League against the Knicks, they were down
like thirteen to two. She called time out, gave everybody
an assignment. She was very calm, very collected, she was
very concise and various discinct with her instructions. She was
completely in command, absolutely in command, as well as anybody
I've ever seen. A year ago, I think it was

(01:07:25):
December thirtie last year, and a game against the Lakers,
Popovich was kicked out. She was the interim coach for
one game. Uh. That was also the first time a
female had ever done that. So she's got this five
year deal with the Aces at Las Vegas. Ace is
of the w n B, a highest paid coach in
the w n B A. So if not her, I
don't know who it was going to be the first

(01:07:47):
female head coach or manager in the four major league sports.
So the question now begs to me which sport will
be the first to hire one. Let's go around the
room quickly, Brian, much of the four sports would be
the first, do you believe to hire a female coach.
It's gonna be the NBA, and it's gonna be Candice Parker.
You heard it right here, Bernie on Fox Sports Radio. Okay,

(01:08:09):
you know what. You may be right, Brian, but his
she coached at all at any level. I don't think
that necessarily has much. We'll go ahead because because you've
got players that in like Steve Nash and Jason Kitty
went right to becoming head coaches at times. So if
you have cloud like she does and respect in men's
and women's basketball circles, you're gonna put yourself in front

(01:08:31):
of the crowd there. Alright, good input. Let me just
real quickly say, look, you see the issues that Chauncey
Billips is he's having right now learning on the job
in Portland. This is a player driven progress process. I mean,
you not only have to connect to be kindred spirits
with your team's best player, but you've got to you know,

(01:08:53):
you you've you've got to remember that it's game management there,
there are substitution patterns you've got to maximize is coming
out of time outs. You've got to understand situational points
during the game. You've got to be able to symble
a good staff at the end of the day if
you're managing a bunch of personalities, and it's not so easy.
If you're learning on the job in your first job,

(01:09:16):
but being it as your mad Ryan, someone might take
a chance on her. That's not a bad guess. Christoph Fett,
which Sport is going to hire the first ever female
coach or manager. I think it's it's gonna be the NBA.
They're the farthest ahead. I don't think the NFL is close.
I think, you know, soccer and hockey have too much
machismo going for it. I do like Becky Hammond where
she's at right now, and not just for the uh

(01:09:39):
you know, Greg Popovich ties with the fact that she's
replacing Bill Lamber. Bill Mber, I think knows something a
little bit about struggles to get into the NBA, considering
he I think at any point Bill Amber could have
been a phenomenal NBA head coach, but just because of
who he was as a player, he was basically uh
frozen out from going over there, and he's been spending

(01:09:59):
his time. I'm in the w n b A. But
I think I think Hammond's probably on the right track
to do this with the pedigree that she's uh cultivated
from the people she's she's been unders as a coach.
Al Right, So you guys both agree it will be
the NBA, Bull Benson, which of the four sports will
take this leap d n b A just because Hammond

(01:10:19):
already has filled in for Papovich when he missed time,
didn't she So yeah, a year ago. So technically yeah, yeah,
year ago. Now he was like December thirties, the last
year it was against the Lakers. Yeah, So also technically
they already have And I think, if you ask me,
I think that her taking a job in the w
n b A is her getting like on the job
head coaching experience so that when Papovitch retires, she can

(01:10:42):
move back up to the Spurs job. Well that's an
excellent point. So I don't know what the termination clause
is in the contract. I just automatically sued as soon
because they gave her a five year deal. It made
her the highest paid coach. That if if in fact
she is the for it's not gonna be anytime soon.
And I mean we're at least gotta be two three

(01:11:03):
years away, I would think. And in the meantime, might
that open up the door for someone else? But I
think you guys are spot on. It's gotta be the NBA.
I just cannot see I had female coach in the
National Hockey League. Sorry, I just can't see it. Although
back in ninety two, the Tampa Bay Lightning had a
female goalie by the name of men and realm um,
And she did a pretty good job in the preseason,

(01:11:25):
but that's different. She wasn't coaching. Really can't see an
NFL head coach is a female. That's I just simply
can't see. Although there are teams that employ UH strength
coaches and position coaches that are female in the NFL,
they do quite well. And I really can't see a
female head our manager in baseball, although there are plenty
of successful female front office UH employees as it were.

(01:11:51):
All Right, so I think we're I think we're I
think we're in lockstep here, guys, that it's a situation
where the NBA will be the first league to hire
a female head coach, even though it looks like Becky Hammon,
who I thought it could have happened as soon as
maybe this year, a couple of years ago. But Gregg
Popovic isn't going anywhere soon, and she would have been

(01:12:12):
the natural heir apparent to be the Spurs head coach
and be that as I mean, maybe that will still happen. Alright,
coming up, we're gonna bring it back out to Las Vegas.
You know him, you love me. Can't live without a
macing on sports Mackenzie rivers. As usual, I'll have some
data for you really sort of involving some under the
radar information involving the Eagles and Bengals and Saints and Titans.

(01:12:35):
You're gonna want to hear this, so keep it locked
or right here. We're Las Vegas is We're brought to
you by one of our very favorite cities, Las Vegas.
Your home for live sports, and that means all sports,
every game, match, raised competition, it is always on. Now
go on and plan your trip and visit Las Vegas
dot com to see the best and brightest in Vegas,

(01:12:56):
the greatest arena on Earth. And trust me, I know
I live here. I'm Bernie Frida where Company Live the
Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. Don't go away. You're
listening to Fox Sports Sunday and Fox Sports Radio right
back on Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Radio on Bernie Friday,
Company Live for the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios.

(01:13:17):
We are basically what eight hours and thirteen minutes away
from NFL Week seventeen, the second to the last week
and the regular season for what's been in a very
interesting NFL and you bring him in at this time
every week. You know what, we love mccanley without him
making on sports Mackenzie rivers, Mackenzie. Happy New Year, Happy

(01:13:40):
New Year, Happy two. Back to be back in the evens.
Always feel safer in the evens. Oh, you're one of
those numerologists. Okay, you're in the evens. Oh yeah, like Spencer,
Like Edmund Spencer. I'm very into each number on what
it means. Wow, conversation for a different day. I didn't
know all that, all right. So there are a couple
of teams this year Eagles and Bengals, obviously they have

(01:14:03):
been a favorite among betters, and uh, there are teams
like the Saints and Titans work consistently, people fade them.
But you have found I think some angles that have
to do with what might explain this phenomenon. Yes, so
the number one team that Vegas betters have backed, and
how do we track this? Well, from the World Open

(01:14:25):
Sunday afternoon until the close, how much has the market moved?
Because it's not necessarily how many dollars have backed a
certain team, but booking faces sometimes it's who what sharps
are behind certain teams. So if we track the actual
movement of what betters have been behind, and we take
out injuries and all those news reports and just look

(01:14:48):
at actual money moving the numbers. What team has the
Vegas better has been behind more than any other team
in the league. Well, that would be Joe Burrow Cincinnati Bengals,
and we've seen it again, even against the Super were
both favorites each of the past three years the Kansas
City Chiefs. That number opened six Chiefs favorite on the road.
Now the Bengals are four point favorites, I mean four

(01:15:10):
point underdogs. Money coming in again on Cincinnati like we've
seen all year. Once again, if you like the Bengals,
you gotta get them early because Vegas has moved the
number that came to me. I'm on the opposite side
of Fez twenty nine ranked pass defense the Bengals have
and I gave the numbers on the Chiefs earlier in
the show in the last week. Uh, in the last

(01:15:32):
eight weeks, how dramatic they're improven has been. Do you
have a thought on that game? You know, where do
you how do you break the tide? You like fessist
satur my side, Well, you know, Fessic is a dating boy,
and uh, I think his bias is leaking in the
Chiefs covers of this last six games. I don't think
they're phased at all being there in the jungle. I

(01:15:53):
feel like, might as well be a neutral game. Chiefs
probably good six point favorites on neutral game. So I
like the Chiefs. Well. This came as a dynamic to
it as well, because it looks like if the Chiefs
take care of business and they know that Tennessee has
the tiebreaker, but the Chiefs take care of business, than
the road to the a f C Super Bowl has

(01:16:14):
to go through our head stadium again, and they love
nothing better. You were Kens. You have to recall, maybe
you talk to your cousin. The Niners went in there
and kicked their butt. I'm talking about the Bengals, not
I want to be master of the pronoun. They go
in there and kick the Bengals butt and then all
of a sudden they choked down the lead, only to
come back and finally win at the end. But the
Niners were such a much better team that day. I

(01:16:37):
feel like the Bengals are bullies, but when they get
on the field with someone you're really good, they're not
quite the same. Well, they have a long history of
prime time disappointments. I remember going in one Thursday night
the Denver Broncos in the mid two thousand's, and the
newspaper and Cincinnati ran, please don't embarrass us, and the

(01:16:58):
boys didn't necessary really do that, and they won. They
beat the Broncos that day. But that's kind of the
culture in Cincinnati. Just hold the ship together. That's not
necessarily world beater mentality. Agree with you on that one.
All right, let's talk about the Titans team. People fade them?
Are they fading? I even looked at the numbers. Are
they fading him tomorrow? Because I gotta tell you, as

(01:17:18):
long as Derrick Henry is not there, it would not
surprise me to see Miami go in there and get
there eat win tomorrow. Yes, the Titans have been bet
against twenty six points so far this season and a
huge half point from a three and a half point favorite,
now only laying three hosting the Dolphins. The Vegas market
is spoken. They've said, hey, the team identity without Derrick Henry.

(01:17:42):
The last five weeks we've seen the Bettors come against them.
They only scored nineteen against the struggling Steelers team. They
did get a home win against my forty Niners, but
they didn't necessarily look all that impressive on offense. So
the Dolphins, I mean, they were one and seven at
one point, but now the Vegas market is saying pretty
much even teams with the Derrick Henry lists Titans team.

(01:18:04):
All Right, another game I talked about earlier in the
show that's made your list here in terms of teams
who either conceal their identity or I don't know, concealed
weapon or whatever the hell they do. Long and short
of it is, the Eagles have been an interesting story
this year, mackenzie, But I'm not sold on them because
I'm not sold on Jalen herds last six games completion
percentage that ranks six, only three touchdowns on four interceptions,

(01:18:27):
the last six games that ranks twenty six passer rating
and seventy three, bottom four in the league. I gotta
believe Ron Rivere in Washington as a home dog tomorrow's
got value, Yes, And we've seen that number push up again,
sharps again, pushing the Eagles number up the number two
team behind the Bengals. Now they're a five point favorite

(01:18:48):
at Washington, number two behind the Bengals. If you look
at year to date, how many points this team has
been bet up, twenty points on the whole. And it's
because PFF ranks Jalen Hurts as the number ten quarterback.
I don't think most people they're picking a new franchise
would pick Jalen Hurts as the number ten quarterback if
you're projecting on how you want an NFL franchise offense

(01:19:10):
to run. But if you're looking at this quarterback this day,
running the Oklahoma system, it's working, and it's working to
the tune of being a five point road favorite at
a division game. Vegas Market says, Hey, maybe not in
the future, but this year, right now, Jalen Hurts in
the Eagles offense is a dangerous beast to attack open three.

(01:19:32):
Now the Eagles five point favorites at Washington. I gotta
tell you, I think they're gonna You're gonna get an
emotional effort out of the Washington football team tomorrow. A right, McKenzie,
good stuff. You'll be back at an hour, and of
course you'll be back with a prop play for each
betting window over the three time slots in tomorrow's games.
Tune one last week and props and nine. Overall, that's

(01:19:53):
a cool So if you've been on McKenzie's props, you
make all the money you want to make. You want
to be acting an hour to hear Mackenzie macking on
sports and his profits coming up? Oh man, here we go.
What kind of brand new fool are you? And what
my name? We're just getting started. Keep it locked. This
is Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Radio. The Fox Sports

(01:20:21):
Sunday train rolls right on three on one to go.
Oh man, we're just getting started, fifty nine minutes away
from week seventeen in the NFL. But we've got a
lot of stuff to get to, not the least of
which is the new dance sensation sweeping the nation, which
we affectionately call what kind of brand new fool are you?

(01:20:45):
What kind of brand new fool you? You know, every
day in America and around the world, people do questionable
things that make you ask yourself, what kind of brand
new fool are you? And today's edition comes to you

(01:21:06):
all the way from Russia. This allegedly already happened several
years ago, but it still bears repeating and asking the question,
which requires the three students theme song to really bring
it home. What kind of brand new fool are you?
So oldas a jack? She owns a hair salon in
Russia and one day a thief comes in to rob

(01:21:27):
the salon. I'm thinking, what is this idiot going to do?
The all time heist and shampoo and conditioner? Maybe grab
himself a new pair of scissors for posterity. How much
cash can they have in the kitty there? Right? Well,
he picked the wrong individual. Apparently, OLA's a jack, was
a black belt in karate, so she kicked him in
the head and knocked him out. Then she proceeds to
tie him up, drag him in the back office, and

(01:21:49):
keep him hostage for three days, where allegedly she forced
freed a viagra and made him a slex slave for
three days. Easy for me to say, that's sex slave,
all right. So the police get the whole this story
and they're both in trouble with the law. This is
one of those rare situations where what kind of brand
new fool are both of you? It's like a double

(01:22:11):
header to start Christo fete all all right, Bernie. So
you may or may not have heard of n f
t s non fungible tokens seems to be the new
sensation going across the cryptocurrency world. And I've got a
lot of thoughts on them. I don't know if you're
a believer. I'm certainly not. They kind of remind me.

(01:22:32):
They remind me of beanie babies. Remember how we all
though people thought in the nineties, you buy these little
beanie babies keeping men condition They so for twenty dollars
that never happened. Great documentary now on HBO about that.
Either way, though, a lot of people believe in them
and spending a lot of money on them. And this week,
this week in particular, has seen multiple people in one
of the biggest n f T s Board eight Yacht Club,

(01:22:53):
which is basically people not even buying pictures of apes
and cartoon apes, but buying a token that's as you
own that picture of that cartoon. Yeah, well that's that's
kind of what how weird n f t s are.
But we've hit this point now that where there's so
many suckers in the pool that there's also a lot

(01:23:13):
of good hacking going around. And Todd Kramer, uh, someone
on Twitter who was a high profile owner of one
of these board apes, did tweet out something that has
become a rallying cry quote, I've been hacked, all my
apes gone, this just sold. Please help me. He is
not alone. There has been kind of this hack across

(01:23:35):
their platform Open See where you buy and trade n
f T s that where malicious if you click on
the wrong link. There is like an exploit in the
system that allows people to like read very technical stuff.
Either way, a lot of tokens of these n f
T s are being stolen, a lot of people are
having their wallets looked after by the wallet inspectors, and

(01:23:55):
there's a lot of brand new fools being born every minute.
If it smells like a scam, it might be a scam.
And even if it's not, be very secure because this
is supposed to be a libertarian society that n f
T people talk about, And unfortunately you can't really exactly
go to the police because what it's it's whatever. It's like,
what what fool are you? Wow? That that's a spooky

(01:24:18):
one man? That that one. Uh, these are intended to
be humorous, but that well, good stuff there. Chris, all right,
Brian Finley, what's this week's version of what kind of
brand new fool are you? This? Week's version of what
kind of brand new fool are you? Bernie? It is
the contingent of media members, the I Told You So
crowd coming out of the barracks here and scolding one

(01:24:41):
ole miss quarterback Matt Correll for deciding to go and
play in this Sugar Bowl game on Saturday, with the
thought that if he gets injured that he would lose
millions because he's such a highly regarded future NFL draft pick.
And then when Corral got injured, then they went off.

(01:25:01):
It was the lazy take. It was the easy article
to write. This is why big time prospects should not
play in said bowl games. These people, Bernie, that are
the media members. It's like the policeman at the bottom
of the hill clocking all the speeding cars and that
they're just waiting for a chance to pounce. Their waiting

(01:25:23):
for a chance to pounce, and if you go past
them without breaking the limit, they don't say anything. If
Corral played in this game didn't get injured, nobody would
say anything. And instead of nobody's saying anything, this is
a guy who should be heroicized because last time I checked,
football is a team sport. We should be honoring guys
like this and the early indications and the longer. The

(01:25:46):
short of it is, this injury doesn't seem to be
something that's significant that would take them away from the millions.
I just hated Bernie. When people take a little narrative
and run with it and use it kid as an
example when he should be honored for doing such a
brave thing and playing in this game. I'm with you, man,

(01:26:07):
the man in the arena, tip of the Captain Mtcarrel,
I predict you do you just find in the NFL
it's not a career inning injury and never are all right?
Bol Benson? Bring us home? What kind of brand new fool?
Are you? All right? I just have a couple of
short ones here. Um. First one is this author in
a piece for for a Variety arguing that Spider Man

(01:26:28):
should be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards
this year. Um No, that's stupid. Don't no, thank you? Um.
And then second, I just want to piggyback off of
Chris's uh the n f T s um one of
the dumbest things that's ever happened to humanity. People buying
really bad j pegs of monkeys and then crying on
the internet when someone steals them just buying these things,

(01:26:49):
but also putting their life savings. And every time you
see one of your favorite athletes change their Twitter avatar
or something to one of these, it's just I just
die a little bit more inside. So um, if you
ask me, it's probably a good thing that these guys
are getting taken for all their worth. Well, I'll tell
you that's the cautionary tale. Guys. Uh wow, all right,
let's get back to the light hearted aspect of this.

(01:27:11):
In the second dance Sensation sweeping the nation, it's a
little game here. We get the crew involved, the buzzer
goes off, you've got five seconds to guess we it's
a game we call what my name? All right, let's
keep the bowl game theme, since today is a New
Year's Day, or yesterday was New Year's Day, and there's
all kind of ball games all right. Back in nine

(01:27:32):
seventy eight January second, the Rose Bowl was played and
my team was a fourteen point underdog to the visiting
Michigan Wolverines at the Rose Bowl. I passed him silly,
and we beat the Wolverines outright, and I went on
to a stellar career in the National Football League. What
my name Chris Perfett? Uh Troy Aikman. Not a bad

(01:27:56):
guest a little bit before Troy's time, all right. I
quarterbacked by team to a fourteen point went over the
Michigan Wolverines or ten point win in Rose Bowl, even
though we were fourteen point underdogs. What my name Boll Benson?
Uh Craig Crinzelow. Now see that's a good one. He's

(01:28:18):
out of Ohio State. He actually went to high school
and Sterling Heights, Michigan. Good names, guys, No, I'm sorry.
All right, it was a fourteen point underdog, but that
didn't stop me. I beat the Michigan Wolverines and those
Rose Bowl as a quarterback passed him silly Brian Finley.
What my name Jim Plunkett. Plunket was a few years

(01:28:38):
before that, and he actually gone to Stanford and by
the way he did, Okay, let me not go down
the memory lane. It was Warren Moon. Warren Moon. Okay.
Six years later, as a freshman, I upset the number
one Nebraska Cornhuskers and one of the most memorable New
Year's Day games in the history of college football. What

(01:29:01):
my name Chris Perfette, I missed the year? What was it? Um?
It's all right, So this is not an easy game, folks.
This is this is taking a lot of good men
and put them aside. All right, let's go. Okay, I'll
tell you what. Let me let me repeat the statement,
right enour I was a freshman starting quarterback, took the

(01:29:24):
field in the Orange Bowl and upset the number one
Nebraska corn Huskers Boll Benson. What my name? Uh, Steve
Young Well write vintage red vennage. Steve went to b y,
you never played in the Orange Bowl. But again, good guest,
this good guess is all right. Let's see if Brian
can save the day. Orange Bowl. I upset the number

(01:29:45):
one team as a freshman, Brian Finley, What my name?
Bernie Coss Winter Winter Chicken Dinner? All right? One more
for posterity. Nineteen eighties seven and one of the most
memorable New Year's Day Bowl games of all time. My
number one team was upset by Penn State. We were

(01:30:06):
six point favorites, but oh man, I threw five interceptions
that day and my team lost. Even though I went
on to a long career in the Nashville Football League,
Chris Perfett. What my name? I was gonna say Tim Brown,
but now that it's interceptions, I don't know. There's quarterback. Alright,
no problem, alright. Seven and one of the most memorable

(01:30:28):
Bowl games of all time. Six point favorites. We were
upset by Penn State. As a quarterback, I threw five
interceptions at night. Bryan Family, what my name? Let's go
with I do not know. Alright, close close, all right,
Boll Benson, we'll see a bull can see of the day. Seven,

(01:30:48):
one of those memorable bowl games. We were six point favorites.
We were the number one team in the nation. Penn
State upset us. I threw a Brazilian interceptions. Went on
to have a very good or a decent long NFL career.
Boll Benson, what my name? Uh, Brett Farve, Brett Farve? No,
I'm sorry Brett didn't come along to him? Probably yeah,

(01:31:10):
bapapapa five six seven years after that, he was out
of Southern Mississippi. The answer is Vinny test of Ardy. Alright,
good effort, guys, good effort. Tonight's team was bowl games,
and we had some interesting bowl games. I don't here
anybody says everybody loves the Bowl games. When we watched them,
the ratios have been good. And there you have a
fans are back and they're drunk and they're all hooked

(01:31:32):
up to a blenders at six am, and its whole clean,
good family fund for everybody coming up. Speaking a good
family fund, Let's bring in the crew. I gave a
tribute to John Madden at the beginning of the show,
and uh, we're not done. And what's interesting about John
Madden is, regardless of your age, you either knew him
as a coach, you knew him as a bud Light commercial,

(01:31:53):
as a commentator, certainly the Madden game. He's even part
of the competition committee. John Madden was something to everybody.
Bill Belichick once then we all started to have one
good career in our life. John Madden had five. So
we'll bring the crew, get their thoughts on and impressions
of John Madden and and were they were. They relate

(01:32:14):
to him most as an entrepreneur, as a personality, as
a pitchman, whatever the case may be. All right, I'm
Bernie Fridda where Company line from the Las Vegas Fox
Sports Radio Studios. So keep it locked right here. You're
listening to Fox Sports Sunday on Fox Sports Radio. They're

(01:32:40):
back on Fox Sports Sunday, Fox Sports Radio on Bernie
Fridder Company Alive from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio
Studios take up to three and Pacific six am Eastern.
We are just seven hours and forty minutes away from
National Football League Week seventeen action, and the league would
simply not be what it is today without the legendary,

(01:33:02):
the inimitable John Madden, who passed three or four days ago,
just three days after the All Madden documentary on Fox
Sports on Christmas Day, I gave a pretty lengthy tribute
to John Madden. Quoted Bill Belichick, even quoted Shakespeare, who
once said, after men passed, the evil that men do

(01:33:24):
lives after them, but the good is often interred with
their bones. Not the case with John Madden. Everybody remembers
the good. Everybody wants to talk about him. Let's bring
in the crew, because John Madden is someone folks can
relate to on multiple levels, even if you don't remember
him as a coach. And he was one O three
and thirty two and ten seasons, and those were fourteen

(01:33:44):
game season's average ten wins this season in a fourteen
game season for a decade, won a Super Bowl, a
fixture in the playoffs, and a legend. Chris Perfect, you're
a pretty well read guy. You're an avid reader. Uh
and just didn't you know what are your eyes and ears?
Tell you? What was your impression of John Madden that
you would want to describe him to somebody if they
were coming down from Mars. He Um, he was football.

(01:34:08):
I think that's the easy way to do it. He
was a football santa. I I know he was a
lot more angry when he was a coach, but he
approached talking about the game in two different ways. One
he wanted to talk about in it like it was
a very fun thing. A lot of coaches get into
the nitty gritty and treat football as a war. He
didn't see it's like that. Um. The other side was

(01:34:30):
how accessible he made football to other people. You talk
about the aliens, Bernie, I would assume like, if you
wanted to teach aliens how football has run, you find
John Madden tapes with him with Pat some are all
and you get the Madden Football Game. I know plenty
of people who knew nothing about football, not a damn
thing about football, growing up didn't play. If you watch TV,

(01:34:51):
it can be a little impenetrable. The Madden Football Game
makes it video game makes it accessible to people who
are new to the sport. And that was designed that
way by apparently by Madden's request when he wanted when
they wanted him to put his name on it, he said,
it's got to be real football, and it's got to
be accessible, and it's got to be something that people
can pick up and learn and get into football to

(01:35:14):
to to break down on almost impenetrable sport of infinite
amounts of jargon. And that's why I know a lot
of people kind of chied. The lot of peo will
only know Madden from the football game. But that's part
of his legacy to is that you look at the
covers of those Madden Football games. It started with his
name small, with the word of football very big. Over time,

(01:35:36):
his face started a pure on the cover and football
got smaller, Madden got bigger until two thousand one they
replaced John Madden on the cover with Eddie George. That
starts the Madden cover athlete. Uh, you know, each year
a new athlete, but that that game, even though it
was just his name at that point. Still remember still
remains an incredible learning tool. Just like he was in

(01:35:57):
the booth. He wanted people to learn football and appreciate
st football even if they had never experienced football before
in their life. So he's the great teacher of football
and that and there's a and the You've covered a
lot of good ground there and there's a tremendously broad
range that Madden brought to life and the football life,

(01:36:17):
and there was an air of authenticity and everything he did.
Brian Familey, what's your takeaway in John Madden? Yeah, Bernie,
there are ay and I remember John Madden most as
a broadcaster because I was born after his coaching days,
and there are a high volume of broadcasters out there
who are actors. And what I mean by that is

(01:36:38):
they get in front of a microphone, they stand in
front of a camera, and they change their personality to
how they think they should be perceived. They changed the
tone of their voice, maybe they deepen it, and they
do different things to feel like they need to do
something beyond who they are as wholly themselves too, to

(01:37:00):
show people who they want to be. And the thing
with John Madden was he was no actor. And if
he was. He played himself, and too many broadcasters out
there think they have to be someone else to be good,
to be catchy, to to say something neat. But what
was most endearing about John Madden is the fact that

(01:37:22):
he was natural, He was real. And the other thing
about it was there's a there's a stigma around those
who now get into the broadcasting booth in professional sports
that oh, they couldn't cut it as a coach. But Bernie,
you pointed out his numbers as a coach, some really

(01:37:43):
high success, and was able to couple that with being
really good in the booth, which usually it doesn't come
hand in hand. Necessarily. You see a lot of guys
that might have been shuffled out or or pushed out
of jobs, and here they are. They can't find a
coaching that they like, so let's go into television. It
becomes sort of like a last digit effort to stay

(01:38:04):
relevant in the game. And I think because he was
so good as a coach and so good as a broadcaster,
Bernie that when he was commenting on games, that he
could criticize players and teams and coaches and do it
in a beautiful way to which they wouldn't want to
go after him because he had street cred and he

(01:38:25):
was somebody that was so respected and beloved and oftentimes, Bernie,
as I sent it back to you, there's so many
coaches out there, are people who are holding analyst roles
in broadcasting where they say things and they're afraid to
say something because to preserve a relationship. And I never
felt like that was anything that Madden had to deal

(01:38:47):
with because he was so loved by everybody and it
didn't matter what he said because he was real and
he had relationships all over the place. All right, Uh,
both Benson had to step away. Brandon Truph a joy,
it's just branded you want to win on on John Madden. Sure,
I'll excuse me. I'll say a couple of words. Uh,

(01:39:08):
you know he I feel like John Madden was the
ultimate teacher. I mean, whether you watched the game from
a serious standpoint or you were a passive watcher of
the game, he really kind of simplified the game for
you and really had a way of kind of keeping
it serious but also keeping it fun and exciting, whether

(01:39:29):
it was through broadcasting, whether it was through the Madden games.
I know, growing up, I played pretty much every Madden
from like two thousand and two up until like two
thousand and eight. I would get it for Christmas, and
my dad and I would play, you know, when he
would get home from work. And it was a great
way to learn football. I mean, kind of taught me

(01:39:51):
what a cover two defense was. So I would just
say he was the ultimate teacher. He was all those things.
And one of the things that made John Badden so
successful and everything he did is that in this you know, look,
he's one of the few people I haven't met. He
was there in Super Bowl forty and I missed him.
I was fifty yards away. It's long story, didn't meet him.

(01:40:13):
But he was a keen observer. Just listen to him talk,
and he had a great ability to see things and people.
There are stories when he was even a young linebackers
coach in his twenty that he'd he'd meet a prospect,
he need a player, and he would make observations and
evaluations and talent evaluations and communicate things about that player
to make him better. That that player didn't know what

(01:40:34):
he had had in him, and he didn't know existed
his instincts. John Madden's instincts were impeccable and uh. He
was also incredibly good at reading people. And you know,
even as a young coach, before he became a head coach,
he was renowned for being able to quote explain things,
which is not easy to do. Not everybody is a
great words smith and John and by the way, John Madden,

(01:40:55):
by his own admission, never used were it's and he
got his point across UH incredibly Well. Now here's the thing.
I surmise that whether it be the video game, the commercials, UH,
the the ability to to become a first rate broadcaster

(01:41:18):
on the Competition Committee as appointed by Roger Goodell, none
of this happens if he wasn't such an incredible coach.
And there's a tendency to think that I think Brian
touched on his successful commentators are in the booth only
because they couldn't cut it in the sideline. Not true
for John Madden one oh three and thirty two and
ten seasons as a Raiders coach. And those were fourteen
game seasons. And I do I'm decent at math. That's

(01:41:40):
averaging ten wins this season. In fourteen game seasons. Madden
never had a losing season. He won one Super Bowl
Super Bowl eleven. In nineteen seventy seven, his Raiders destroyed
the Minnesota Vikings fourteen that games played at the Rolls
bowlot was there they were dominant. Madden went to six
AFC title games in his ten seasons. He also reached
the a f L Championship Game its first season before

(01:42:03):
the merger. A couple of things. John Madden still to
this day the highest winning percentage among any coach, with
over a hundred wins. He's in the Hall of Fame
as a coach. When it boils down to it, he
won three of every three out of every four games
he coached. And this is interesting. He was in an
air where there were a lot of high profile Hall
of Fame coaches in the seventies. Madden beat those Hall

(01:42:25):
of Fame coaches head to head sixty at the time.
Any way you slice it, John Madden a first rate
success story and revered by all. It's incredible that just
three days after he after the Fox Sports feature All
Madden was shown on Christmas Day, which is being reshown

(01:42:47):
by the way. Who knew he had would pass three
days later, but at least eighty five years ago. Here
eighty five years young, He lived a long, rich life
and his legacy will live forever in the contributions he made.
We will will continue, all right, Coming up, Chris, Perfect's
gonna bring you in behind the world of soccer, and
as we had in two, it's a monumental year, not

(01:43:09):
the least of which is the World Cup. So Crystal
have some information for us. But first let's go to
the man he was asking about. If if Aaron andrews
hell with it, let's go to Brian filling with the latest.
You got it, Bernie. So let's start with a Rose
Bowl yesterday. What a thrilling finish that was. Number six

(01:43:29):
Ohio State gets the job done against number eleven Utah
tot and so many records were broken in this game,
including what Buckeys wide receiver Jackson Smith Najigbo was able
to doty seven yards receiving three three touchdowns. Those three
seven receiving yards most ever by anybody in a Bowl

(01:43:52):
game in FBS history, unless you're Bernie Frau out because
I think Bernie, at some point, even if it wasn't,
his imagination might have broken that. That's stat. Number seven
Baylor derails number eight Old Miss twenty one to seven.
And keep in mind here that Revs quarterback Matt Corral,
the presumptive first rounder in this upcoming NFL draft. He

(01:44:15):
suffered an apparent ankle injury in the first quarter did
not return to the game. Now, good news is according
to his head coach and Lane Kiffin, Corral's X rays
were negative, but certainly he in Corral got a lot
of scolding on social media, and I didn't think that
was right. Number nine Oklahoma State fans off Number five

(01:44:36):
Notre Dame thirty seven to thirty five. The Cowboys scored
thirty on answered. In the NBA, the Warriors trample over
the Jazz sixteen. Steph Curry points the Nuggets and Rockets
had a ball game, but what people are talking about
is what happened in the locker room at the half,
and that was where the Rockets assistant coach John Lucas

(01:44:58):
got in a shouting match with a couple of his players,
including Kevin Porter Jr. Who ended up throwing something, and
then Lucas decided to continue and be rate and scold
Porter Jr. To the point in which Porter Jr. Left
the locker room at the half and decided to go
in his car and leave the arena. Now, Bernie, you
pointed this out, you are correct. I wanted just fact

(01:45:20):
check on you with what you said about Porter Junior
throwing food. That happened. Yes, yeah, that is that is
the thing that happened. So, like you pointed out, not
the first time he has chucked something in an anger
in a locker room. Also in the NBA, the Clippers,
they get the job done against the Nets one sixteen

(01:45:41):
to Maarda Rosa hit a game winner for the Bulls
as they trampoline over the Wizards one two, one nineteen
Janessdental Coompo his second triple double of the season as
the Bucks take it to the Pelicans one six to
one thirteen. And just a couple quick nuggets from the
NFL in regards to injuries that might come in to
play for these games that are starting to take place

(01:46:03):
in about seven and a half hours at first window
of NFL action. According to NFL Network, Washington defensive in
Mantess what not gonna play against the Eagles due to
a personal matter. And finally, burning Rams running back Cam
Akers is not going to be able to go against
the Ravens. That achilles injury that Acres has been weathering
for quite some time, a couple of months now, is

(01:46:24):
still at a point where the team doesn't feel like
he's comfortable and they're comfortable putting him out there. Which
if you're the Rams, you want Acres out there. You
could use all the help you can get from running
backs in any sort of offense. From that respect, As
they sent it back to Bernie Fratto, you know I Farren, Andrews,
Marri and Aaron Donald. Would she be Aaron Donald as well?
All right, never mind, all right, let's get to Chris. Look,

(01:46:45):
there's an old saying in UH in sports. UH. Superstar
might win you one game, but a team might win
them all. And his teams find out often you pair
up stars together, or a pair up stars with an
existing team, it doesn't always work out. Sometimes they find
that out the hard way, as they are in the
Premier League. That's right, Bernie. So we had two high

(01:47:08):
profile stars. We're gonna we're we're as we've been saying,
we're kind of in that halfway window we had. All
the New Year's Day games happened in the Premier League
as well. But it's good that these this news impacts
two teams in that chase. We're gonna be talking about
Chelsea and we're gonna talk about Manchester United. We'll start
with Manchester United, who had probably, i mean, first segment

(01:47:28):
we did was the biggest news out there was Christiano
Ronaldo coming home to Manchester United. Well unfortunately from United. Uh,
it's not been the homecoming that's won them the most.
Right now, Manchester United sates seventh in the table right now,
that's not even good enough for Champions League or Europa League.
You know, they're they're in kind of that second place

(01:47:51):
race right now. They could make Europa or Champions but
right now it's a it's a tough stretch for them.
This is not the season Manchester United has been hoping for.
They were hoping that this was going to be their
way to come back, and Christiano Ronaldo shared some of
his frustrations with some fans. He said that this season
hasn't gone, you know, the way the way they were

(01:48:11):
hoping for. Um, but not kind of calling out his
team but not really UM Like I've got the actual
quote here, but I'm not happy with what we are
achieving and Man United, none of us are happy. I'm
sure we know we have to work harder, play harder,
So kind of putting out a call there, but certainly
not everything rosy over at United. The other big story though,

(01:48:35):
comes where we're really at loggerheads with Chelsea. Now this
is a little more high stakes. Chelsea is second on
the table right now, forty two points eleven behind Manchester City.
Will get to that in a second, because that seems
a little insurmountable. But Romello Lucaca was their big pick up, Belgian,
Belgian superstar came over from inter Milan, and this one's
kind of blown up and we have some breaking news

(01:48:56):
on this too. So Lucaku had a kind of an
interview where he went off script and he was talking
about you know, look, I'm in great shape my life.
Have been talking with nutritionists. I've had great your nutritionists
in Italy. But I think the coach has chosen to
play with another system. I just have to not give
up in Teeny's work and be a professional. He says

(01:49:17):
he's not happy with the situation. This is normal. He's
been in and out of the lineup and this has
put him at logger heads with manager Thomas Tookel, who
I know was muling a punishment for the twenty eight
year old Belgian. There could be fines, but for right now.
News just came out this morning he's been Lecoq has
been dropped from the lineup as Chelsea prefers to take

(01:49:38):
on Liverpool in a very high stakes match this morning.
Uh for to to keep trying to keep up with
Manchester United, I'm at City, excuse me in the race
all right. I guess when it comes to issues of
this nature, soccer is no different than any other sport
we've seen. Remember that infamous Philadelphia Eagles team, and when

(01:49:59):
Vince Young all the the dream team, and we remember
the old four Lakers try to stack everybody together. And
the only time I think I've ever seen this work
was in Detroit with the Russian five. But so no
different in soccer, Chris, I guess you know now the egos,
you know, you don't think of this because soccer just
simply isn't a sport that I think people know a
lot about. I always know a little bit about it.

(01:50:20):
My daughter actually played division on soccer at at U
and l V. And the point is is I learned
the terminology, I learned the game. But I guess they
got egos like everybody else, right, Yeah, and I think
it had there. There's a certain level to it as well,
and as we've kind of illustrated in some previous reports
to managers tend to be a little more open for uh,

(01:50:40):
for for criticism and yeah, when when players like these
are kind of in a bad situation, it's it's different.
They don't you know, their free agency doesn't really exist
in soccer. Usually we have some weird situations like we
had over the summer with Messy, but usually for the
top guys out there, they are the subject of these
big jollans transfers that moved that move money and players

(01:51:04):
around between clubs, and yeah, players get to say in it,
but if things change once they get there, they are
very quick to let them know when they're not happy.
And for Chelsea that's a bit. This is a big problem.
Lukaku was there, very big pick up. They made it
in uh they made the move to get Lukaku and
now they're I mean they're second in the table. That
doesn't seem like they're far behind, but eleven points right now,

(01:51:26):
Bernie is a little instrumentable at the halfway point. It's
gonna take some real uh screw ups by City, who
started the new year down a single goal to Arsenal
and then roared back equalized menu liver excuse me Arsenal
got a red card put them a ten on eleven,
and then Manchester City in the final minutes pulls ahead,

(01:51:50):
game managed ends to one. They pick up three points,
eleven points clear of Chelsea. Right now, they might already
have this. I mean, I'm not gonna be one of
these commenters in Europe who all he's like they look
at a lead like that, it's like, oh wow, they've
got it locked up. But the race is seeming a
little harder for these teams at second or third like
Chelsea and Liverpool to really catch up. And as as

(01:52:12):
the race for the title moves away from some of
these teams, you start to see more and more cracks
as a lot of teams just don't have the seasons
they are expecting, and players start to get more and
more unhappy and start thinking about what's gonna happen for
the next domestic season, or what's gonna happen for for
for champions, or what's gonna happen for the next transfer window,
and they start thinking about their own future at that point, alright,

(01:52:35):
so keep your finger on the pulse. This is gonna
be a big year two for the world of soccer,
and we've got a World Cup year as well, so
there's always gonna be things at the News Chris Will
bringing this feature every week to thirty am Pacific, five
thirty am Eastern. Coming up, we wrap up the show.
We bring it back out to Vegas with macin on Sports.
Mackenzie rivers twenty four and nine and his prop bets.

(01:52:56):
Gonna have three three more for you coming up, one
for each time slot window for the three NFL uh
series of games tomorrow and on the Pacific West coast
here ten am, one pm and five eight fifteen, four
fifteen and one if you are in the Eastern time,
So you get the picture. I didn't really have to

(01:53:16):
go through all that Michigan right there. You know what
we're trying to do. Coming up, Mackenzie, we bring it
back out to Vegas for Macinum Sports. I'm Bernie Fraddle
Company Life to Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio Studios. Don't
go away here listening to Fox Sports Sunday on Fox
Sports Radio. All right back on Fox Sports Sunday, Fox

(01:53:37):
Sports Radio and Bernie Fraddle Company Your Life for the
Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. We wrap up the
show before I go any further, I want to thank
my broadcast team back in Los Angeles. That would be
Chris Perfett, Brian Finley, and Bill Benson. Bull had to
step aside take care of a situation, and Brandon Truffa

(01:53:57):
has stepped in to pinch it for the last Our
good job. Guys, could not do this show, could not
deliver this show to a greatful nation without the teamwork
and precise synchronization. All right, we bring it back out
to Vegas. You know him, you love me, can leave
without him. His name is Mackenzie Rivers. We call this
mackin on sports. There's a thing in the National Football League.

(01:54:19):
Well not just that, but prop bets. He's twenty four
and nine so far this year betting prop bets, and
Mackenzie will have three more as we are now on
what was seven hours and twelve minutes away from NFL
Week seventeen. So Mackenzie, what have you got for us?
Week seventeen? It's all on the line, the final, well

(01:54:40):
not this year, but Week seventeen is still exciting. Nonetheless,
and for the one pm Eastern window, let me give
you Cooper Cup over a hundred and eleven receiving yards
even if there was it's exceptional number for an exceptional ride.
Receiver number one in the league, averaging a hundred and
sixty per game. Now, even if there were no narratives,

(01:55:03):
no records, which I'm gonna get to in a minute,
even if there was nothing to strive for, nothing for
Sean McVeigh to put his cap on, this would be
a decent bet. Cup is averaging, like I said, a
hundred and sixteen per game. And the Ravens have zero
cornerbacks left. Their top three receivers cornerbacks are out, and

(01:55:24):
they blitz every down. They blitz top five in the league,
and they showed last week with the Bengals throwing up
five hundred yards against them. They're not changing that strategy
for anybody whoever is in there. So if they're blitzing
a lot, what is Stafford gonna do? Go to his
security blanket Cooper Cup. I expect to hit him early
and often, not least of which because he's twelve receptions

(01:55:48):
away from tying the all time receptions mark. They're gonna
get there in two games. Are gonna get a big
chunk of it in the first game. Cooper Cup over
a hundred and eleven receiving yards is the first half
that I have rarely seen a receiver run rouss like Cup.
Of course, he catches and runs well, does all those things.
So I know, I mean, I know Marlon Humphreys on

(01:56:11):
injured reserve, and so that that situation with Baltimore's corners
just for real that they're they're really missing them all.
There were some rumors they might get some of them back,
but the bottom line is Marcus Peters or whoever they're, they're, they're,
they're they're a mess, right, is it is what you're
trying to say, exactly right, And they're gonna put up
points on him. The market has moved three points from

(01:56:33):
the opener Rams minus six, and it's not because they're
gonna let up. McVeigh has heard all the noise, but
how his offense in the second half of the season
first the first half of the season statistically hasn't been
the same. He's going to reverse that narrative tomorrow quickly.
Mackenzie Baltimore. Throughout the years, they talked about coming to
Baltimore was like coming to hell. They were way better

(01:56:53):
at home than they were on the road. Is that
gonna matter here? Is it just they're not gonna be
able to put the personel on the field to stop
this attack. I mean, I think it's gonna matter. They're gonna,
they're gonna, they're gonna scream their hearts out. But Sean
McVeigh has actually had a better straight up and ats
record in his road games than home games. He runs
a tight ship. Gotta give him credit for that. By

(01:57:14):
the way, Lamar Jackson, he's questionable. Do you expect him
to start Tyler hunting? He's pretty damn good. The thought being,
if Baltimore can keep the ball, keep it away from
the Rams, put up points of their own, the Rams
can be scored on. I'm not I'm not sold on
the Might that help? But let's let's move on. What okay?
So Cooper Cup overreleven yards number two one pm Eastern

(01:57:38):
or one pm Pacific, four pm Eastern. We're gonna do
the San Francisco forty Niners. George Kittle over fifty four
receiving yards. Last time Trey Lance had to start and
breaking news I'm not sure if it's official, but I'm
gonna let you know. Trey Lance will be the starter
tomorrow for the forty. Kittle wasn't out there. He wasn't
that security blanket. But in general, the kind of down

(01:58:01):
the middle offense that the Four Niners want to run
with Lance, you've got to have that security blanket, and
Kittle I expect him to be used early and often
in a game the Four Niners have to win. Kittle
over fifty receiving yards alright, So we've got Cooper Cup
over a hundred eleven yards for the Rams against Baltimore
on the yearly game, You've got George Catle overs if

(01:58:21):
whist receiving yards, okay, and their home But Houston, what
have you got for the evening game? This is my
best bet of the slate. Usually I talked about menu.
I love the big menu of the early in the
afternoon window where there's only one game. But I only
need one game to make some money. Aaron Rodgers is

(01:58:42):
set at his season average two hundred and sixty passing yards.
I don't think he's gonna sniff two hundred in this
game for multiple reasons. First of which, it's gonna be
five degrees in Green Bay when it tips off. Some
numbers for you. The average NFL passing game for the
last eight years hundred sixty yards, sixteen completions when the

(01:59:05):
temperature has been five or below. That from Paul Schard,
chain of the chops. And here's the thing, even if
he was even even if there was nothing besides the
cold temperature, the Packers are fourteen point favorites in a
game versus backup Sean Manny, and they're not gonna have
to throw it. They showed last week versus Cleveland when

(01:59:26):
they have a big lead, they don't want to throw it.
They're gonna put They're gonna put sand in the ball.
They're not gonna do anything in the second half. Best
bet Rogers under two fifty six yards. Alright, good stuff, McKenzie. There,
you have a McKenzie and nine in his prop bets,
and it involves the over for Cooper Cup, the over
for George Kittle, and the under in passing yards for

(01:59:48):
Aaron Rodgers. That's gonna do it, folks. Thanks for listening.
I'm Bernie Frattle. This is Fox Sports Sunday. Fox Sports
