Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Now.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
I am live right now from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
I got to go to the race. It was fan
freak fantastic drama. At the end, Joseph Neugarden wins it,
the one hundred and seventh running of the Indianapolis five hundred,
and my good trusted friend George Reister. Like normally, George
(00:51):
is a fun dude. You know. If you want to
grab street tacos, you want to grab them with George Reister.
If you want to talk NFL, you want to talk
it with George Reister. But I feel like he's gonna
give me a big yawn as I say I'm live
here from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Do I have the
you pegged on this one here, George.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
You are one hundred percent right, and not because I
don't like motorsports, because you you sat there and watched
the Indianapolis of five hundred, right, yep? Can you tell
me who won the most important race today?
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Are you an F one guy?
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Wow, well I figure that was it because what the
Coca Cola six hundred? They're talking about it like he
was gonna get rained out. I don't know where that
stands right now. But so you're a big F one guy.
What Drive to Survive got you hooked?
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Yes? It did?
Speaker 2 (01:47):
There you go, he dude?
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Drive to Survive on Netflix? Did it? I? And mind you,
I knew who Lewis Hamilton was. I you know, I
knew who you know a few of the other Drive were.
But then to like watch it, I started what year
and a half ago? And actually, I what is it
(02:09):
twenty twenty three? I think I started in twenty twenty one,
and then I watched I watched the seasons from the beginning,
and then I was like, oh, this is amazing. Why
would I not be watching this consistently? And then I
started watching the races. The only thing that makes it
stink sometimes is that is that the times, because the
(02:33):
races are the overwhelming majority of them, all of them
except for two, are in you know, Europe, Australia, you
know Asia, so so the times make it prohibitive. And
you're watching races at like four or five o'clock in
(02:53):
the morning on Sunday morning, and I just don't even
though I like it, I don't have the commitment to
do it. Then. So I'll wake up whatever time I
wake up on Sunday morning before I go to church
or if I do or don't go, and then and
turn on the race in start it from the beginning.
I won't open up Twitter. I'll just start the race
(03:13):
from yep. And real best part about and the best
part about it is it's a control time. Like it's
not like you're watching the NASCAR or an Indy or
an IndyCar race for like two and a half hours.
It's an hour and a half start to finish.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
That's it, and you're on with your life. Hey man,
there are a lot of people that are just like you.
They got hooked on F one. Drive to Survive has
been immensely popular and successful. But you can't sit here
and tell me you like motorsports, and then you're like
shoulder shrugging the Indy five hundred, George, it's the greatest
spectacle in racing. What's wrong with.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
That's a lie? That is a lie. The the Monaco
Grand Prix, which was run to today, would be that
when oh, when F one goes to Vegas? Do you
not really that's going to be incredible.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Now are you basing this on like the amount of
attractive women? What is it exactly based on? That is
the greatest spectacle in racing? You know, how are we
gauging this?
Speaker 1 (04:12):
We're gauging it by how many people are going to
be watching and paying attention.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Well, that's one way, but we also have to judge
it on prestige, history, tradition. Chuck chuck, chuck, chuck. Check
all across the board the NDY five hundred right there.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
I would I would be willing to say that the
uh yeah, I would be willing to say that it
is going to be that instead of it being what's
oh that, instead of it being the Indianapolis five hundred,
that is probably the Monaco gram Grand period as good.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
As it is, well, I am losing all respect for
your race suit.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
I honestly, I mean, are any the shoemaker's still racing?
Speaker 2 (05:02):
What where in F one?
Speaker 1 (05:04):
No?
Speaker 2 (05:05):
No?
Speaker 1 (05:05):
In Indy No? No, okay. So I can't not.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Today, As a Lorenzo Caine's Sun once said.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
I couldn't say possibly tell you, huh, I could not.
I mean, if you go on some of the biggest
you know.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
You know a couple of these guys, I guarantee.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
You there's a there's an F one tab uh huh,
there is no Indie tab Okay.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
But you've had to have heard of Elio Castro Nevis.
He's a four time winner. You've probably heard of Tony
kanan oh oh, I have heard of k Yeah, you've
heard of a couple of these guys.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
No, I've never heard it at first individual that you named.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
Whatever. Man, it's all good. You don't have to be,
uh the authority on all things Indy five hundred. But
I would see here. It was a lot of fun,
a lot of fun, and it was cool too. I
got to interview this guy who wanted Joseph Neugarten. I
talked to him on Thursday. I was filling in for
an Indianapolis radio station, and so I got to talk
to the guy. That was a sign from the gambling
(06:04):
gods right there, George. It was a clear sign bet
on this guy at forty to one odds. If I
just put one hundred bucks on that guy, I'd have
four g's Right now? What was I thinking? I didn't
bet on anybody. No bets equal no money or lose it.
What was I I should have put something on that guy.
Here's a lot of fun. Oh and you know what,
(06:25):
here's the thing to bring it full circle before we
get to the Celtics and heat last night, which was
off the freaking rails. They have their own version of
Drive to Survive. It's starring your best buddy, Elio Castro
Nevis and the guy who just won the Indy five hundred,
Joseph Newgarden. It's called one hundred Days to Indy, and
(06:45):
so it just follows these guys around as they prepare
for the race, that sort of thing. But it's kind
of the Indie version of Drive to Survive. They're trying
to mimic that success.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Okay, well, well they are not the only ones, because
golf Golf has one going yeah yeah, And truthfully, all
this is is a is a you know, a season
long version of what who? Who's the originator?
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Hard knocks? Yep, hard knock? Yeah, how about that? What
do you think about I think they were following around
or at least had plans to follow around three quarterbacks.
And I'd have to double check this, but it was
a big name like Mahomes and then it was like
Mariota or something that was like, what are we doing
over here? Sorry? I know he's a duck. I know
he's a duck. He's not a big name in the NFL.
(07:35):
Come on, we got to do better than that. But
do you think that would be successful? George? When it
doesn't necessarily have to be quarterbacks, but just find a
couple of colorful NFL players follow them around individually. I
think that could be as successful, if not more than
Hard Knocks collectively. If they did something like that.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
Now I would I think it would be extremely successful
because people care about the NFL, they care about the players,
they care about all those sorts of sorts of things.
So I won one hundred percent believe that that would
be extremely successful. Now, who I would want them to
follow around? That's a great question, because I would want
(08:16):
them to follow around a obviously a big name.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
But via from Tampa Bay. I want them. He's got
to be one. Vita Vea's got to be on the list.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
The only problem, I mean, if we're being honest with
following around a big name, is that they are going
to be extremely protective.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
They're way too polished.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Yeah, and what you actually want is the best part
of hard knocks is where like you find like, of
course you want stars, because people care about the stars,
but at the same time, you want to make sure
too that you're finding somebody to follow around that is
going to be that that should be in the league
(08:59):
all year, but maybe hanging on all year.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
M hm.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
You know a guy who is either a rookie or
a veteran that has that is not for sure gonna
be well, that'll for sure be on somebody's roster all year,
but may not be in the same spot. Like a
developmental guy that looks like he has a ton of potential.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Yeah, yeah, that could work. I think you need a
blend if you're doing the NFL version of Drive to Survive,
where maybe you get you get one big name quarterback.
I think someone who would be great on that would
be Aaron Rodgers new team. God, no, you don't like
it goes over to the Jets. He's kind of like
naked Jim guy at this point. You ever noticed, George,
(09:43):
if you go to the JAGD Jym guy, naked Jim
guy is always in the forty to sixty year range.
You know, it's always.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Another guy usually above forty. They're like, yeah, yeah, fifty
five to seventy.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Yeah, that's probably the better range right there. And my
theory has always been they've experienced a lot in their lives.
They might have had death not to be too grim
with their parents, or they've had a mortgage to pay for.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
They're they don't care what you're gonna do, gonna do,
laugh at me in this, in this, in this body.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah, they're like, this is happening right now because that's
what I want to do, and I don't care anymore.
That's basically Aaron Rodgers. I think Aaron Rodgers would be
entertaining on an NFL style drive to survive. No, no
thumbs down on a Rodger.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Yes, because you you have to remember that he is
media polished bro. He he calculates everything that he does.
It's not off the whim and then he lies too
much too.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
But but people, he always gets a reaction, that's the thing.
And some people completely dislike Aaron Rodgers and I get
that that's good for ratings though.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yeah, it definitely is, But but he lies too much,
Like when, like when, like when he was like, listen, oh,
what do you think I just wrote down a list
of players? And like I just wrote down a list
and gave it to the Jets. No, you didn't write
it down. You told them, you know work.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
I know. It's ridiculous. He insults our intelligence all the time,
some of the lies that.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
He takes because he thinks he's the smartest guy in
the room.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Yeah, but I still I think he should be included.
How about this guy? I think he'd be on board.
Eagle center Jason Kelsey. Okay, he's colorful, he's a great personality,
he's fantastic player, Like.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Yeah, right, they won the Super.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Bowls, that's right, the championship celebration parade, this could be
his last year in the NFL. He'd be great on
an NFL drive to survive.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Yeah, I would agree with that. Who else would be good?
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Get as many Dolphins on there as possible, that's always
huge for ratings.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
You need an who's an Ocho Sinko like character or
a t.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
O like character character. Now that's the key. You know,
he's not on an Ocho sinkle level level like personality wise,
he's better talent wise, gives you a little personality. Justin
Jefferson is the first guy who popped in my mind. Okay,
Vikings wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
Yeah, I can get on board with Justin Jefferson.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
That wouldn't be bad, not bad. Yo, Well, brainstorm as
the show goes along here, George, we got a lot
to do. What a game last night? Huh? Well, my lord,
what did you yell? That's what I want to know.
What did you yell when you realize Derek White's tip
in was good?
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Oh my god? I mean I didn't have a dog
like I should say, I don't have a dog in
the fight like then neither one of them is my team.
But uh, watching this series has been infuriating.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
I mean I.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Can't tell you how frustrated as a fan that it
has made me. Really Oh god.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yes, you know what I want to know the reasons
why we're gonna dive headfirst into that, Why a series
that's going seven games has gotten underneath George's skin. And
then also, why don't we call this guy out the
way we call other stars out. It's a question we
got to investigate as well. Hey, at the end of

(15:09):
All right, George, this Celtic's Heat series has got you annoyed,
maybe miffed. I want to know why. What's the reason here?
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Okay, first thing is I must say that this series
has been fantastic. There's a lot of drama in it,
like so, there are some really good parts about it.
But as a basketball fan, oh lord, have Marcy, I
cannot tell you how maddening it this is, right and
(15:40):
how validating it at the same time, Which is I
have said forever that Jimmy Butler is not a superstar, right, Okay,
that he is a but that in the that he's
a that he's almost like Julian Edelman, if you will,
(16:00):
why he's cool in the regular season and my mind, you, Jimmy,
Jimmy Butler in the regular season is better than Julian
Edelman in terms of you know, at least he's been
an all star Julian Edelman, I don't even think had
a thousand yard season. But you but you get the
point that he's pretty regular during the regular season, like
he's a good player, does some nice things, but you're
(16:23):
always just like, Okay, where's the where's the wow? Right?
And then in the playoffs he does some good things
and then we, oh my god, Jimmy Butler, Oh my gosh,
it's he's one of one and all. And then the
last two games, and mind you, I am not that
(16:43):
person that romanticized his careers like Michael Jordan was infallible,
never did anything wrong, because I've gone on rants about
that that that that's not even close to the truth. However, though,
for Jimmy Butler, the last two games, he put his
hands in his pockets and you're just like, Jimmy, go
(17:04):
shoot the damn Paul, I know. And then he's pumped, faking,
he's passing the ball to Gabe to gave Vincent in
traffic instead of finding a way to get a shot in.
He looked, he looked nervous and scared. That three pointer
look lucky to go in. And now then he went
and cash in those three free throws. And then on
(17:25):
the other end on Boston side, you got Jalen Brown,
who's been a no show in terms of like, I
just can't get in out of my mind. If this
dude is gonna be making over fifty million dollars a year,
not next year because he's still got one more year after,
but he's gonna get sign a max deal this offseason.
That's gonna make him the highest paid player in the
(17:46):
NBA at least for you know, a few weeks, and
then he'll be top five for a couple of years,
and you're just like, how is he top five? And
then you have Jason Tatum, who is clearly phenomenally talented,
but in the fourth quarters, he's just he's just invisible.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
It's weird. It's so weird because last night he had
twenty five first half points and then he was one
for nine from the field in the second half, but.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
He didn't even shoot a shot until the until the
end of until like five minutes to go into fourth quarter.
You're just like, what are you? What are you doing? Bro?
Speaker 2 (18:23):
I don't get it? And what was it?
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Sam had a bio good God, his his his every
this is the fourth consecutive playoff year that his points
have gone down in the playoffs. You're just like, this
is it? And people want to call him a superstar.
I'm like, how can you call this man a superstar
(18:45):
when his stats go down in the playoffs every year?
It makes no sense.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
You could say he's an All Star, that's fine, He's Yeah,
Sam is not a superstar.
Speaker 7 (18:54):
No.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
You hear people saying that.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
Yes, they're like, oh and there are two superstars Bam
out of dude, just because you go to the All
Star Game does not make you a superstar.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
Well, that's absolutely I mean that should be a no brainer,
but it sounds like it isn't for everybody right there.
But if you just watch Bam, he'll have some good
performances here and there. But then you have Last Night
and Jimmy and Bam. Goodness, you had Jimmy. He was
five for twenty one from the field. Bam was four
(19:27):
for sixteen from the field. That's just not good enough.
Your two main guys combined, George nine for thirty seven
from the field. And the crazy thing is they had
a one point lead with three seconds left. That blows
my mind. How was that even?
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Dude? What the crazy part is is that after the game,
even though they had a chance to win it nothing,
neither team really deserve to win because you're just like Boston.
Why can't you keep a lead?
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Ever?
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Ever, Yeah, if you don't blow them out, you lose,
like or you end up in some game like this.
You got a ten point lead with like two minutes left,
and every time that that happens, you find a way
to end up in a nail bider, in a last
second shot situation. So I have no clue what's gonna
(20:22):
happen in Game seven. I don't think the Celtics have
the type of dogs that they need. And then Miami,
who the hell knows what Jimmy Butler and Bam are
gonna show up? Dude? They were really to think about
this though? The Miami Heat who Jimmy Butler is supposed
(20:44):
to be the man? And granted I know that you're
not always gonna have good games in those moments. Michael
Jordan didn't, Kobe always didn't. But but you find ways
to win them with your teammates and stuff. But the
issue is is that the Miami Heat were relying on
undrafted of players to carry them, and then people are like,
(21:06):
oh my god, how did Duncan Robinson. That's not Duncan
Robinson's job to save the game right there, It's not
his job.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Well, the weird thing to me is I'm mostly with you,
certainly with you with the inconsistent play We've had this
throughout the entire series. You go with Jason Tatum, you
go back the previous series against Philly where in Game
six their season is on the line. Jason Tatum has
three points in the first three quarters, and just when
(21:35):
you think all right, that's over, he explodes for sixteen
points in the fourth quarter alone. He outscored Philly by himself.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Yes, which to me, that's what the most function of Harden.
Harden is more of a a person to show up
small in game six in Game seven than Jason Tatum
is to show up poorly in fourth quarters if they
makes it.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
But that's the weird thing about Tatum is he kind
of does the opposite of what you would expect. Because
in Game six against Philly, as rotten as he was,
he was like one for twelve or one for thirteen
in the first three quarters, and I'm thinking, all right,
this guy just doesn't have it at all, and with
the season on the line, he has the confidence just
(22:22):
ball out in the fourth quarter. And then you fast
forward to this series against Miami and he looks good
at times. Game two he had a huge game statistically,
he had like thirty four to thirteen and eight or
something like that, no field goals in the fourth quarter,
and You're like, how does that happen? So, yeah, you've
seen up and down. The thing, though, is with Jimmy Butler,
(22:45):
we gotta pick a lane. If he is a star.
Maybe you don't go as far as saying he's a superstar,
but if he's a star, last night, he just like
beat us to the punch. This is what he said
about his own play.
Speaker 8 (22:58):
Like I told the guys on the bench, I told
the guys in the locker room that if I play better,
we're not even in this position, honestly speaking, and I
will be better and That's what makes me smile because
those guys follow my lead. So when I'm playing better,
I think we're playing better as all.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
That's the weird thing to me, George, is there is
a lack of venom when it comes to Jimmy Butler.
I think that he bother me. I mean, but it's
just it's confusing to me because is it just the
likability factor that goes that far where Jimmy is largely
invincible to the angry venom of you didn't get it done?
(23:39):
You think your team.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
They see see he is gonna catch he will? He
better catch catch hell if they lose this series, if
they lose this series tomorrow night, he better catch all
the hell in the world, buddy, because because you can't
get anointed and then have three duds in a row.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
That's what I'm saying. That's like, we got to pick
a lane. Is this guy a star that we expect
to come through in the tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
We'll see tomorrow, right, does it? That's gonna be where
the rubber meets the road. Yeah, And people are gonna
be like, look, listen, don't talk to me about this,
no more, don't even don't even talk to me about
Jimmy Butler and Superstar ever again. Please.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
But that's the thing is, this is the recipe for
major backlash is we've anointed you, right, we expect you
to come through, and then you fall short of expectations.
People largely freak out when that happens. And it didn't happen. Yesterday,
the guy goes five for twenty one had a horrible game.
(24:44):
Stan Van Gundy said it during the game, George, where
he's like, Jimmy looks intimidated.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
I tweeted that. I was like, why does he look scared?
And he's supposed to be the toughest dude in the league,
one of the toughest guys in the whole league. Where's
the how did that happen?
Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yeah? Yeah, I'm just surprised you don't hear more negativity,
because in this day and age, if you are a
star and you significantly underperform, we don't treat you with
kid gloves, you know what I mean, Like it's open
season typically, but it seems like Jimmy largely avoids most
of that. It's just strange to me. All Right, We've
(25:20):
got Manzi Bolanos with us this afternoon. Slash evening, depending
on where you're listening, Manzi, what is going on? Are
you a big Indy five hundred fan?
Speaker 4 (25:28):
There?
Speaker 3 (25:28):
MONSI no, no, but I watched it.
Speaker 7 (25:31):
No you were didn't watch it?
Speaker 2 (25:35):
And this is my business. I chose cash plus some
power adapts him. Go ahead, you with us? Oh I
(26:07):
don't know what that mean?
Speaker 1 (26:09):
No, what did you do? I not me.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
I' just ethernet from the Indian Neplis Motor Speedway. Okay,
oh okay, Mike Monsei did the people's elbow on the
computer over there? I think, what's going on? I don't know? Hello? Hello, Hello,
there she is?
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Hello?
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Is it the B bar? What happened on the B bar?
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Dude? So I will tell you.
Speaker 7 (26:31):
Since we moved to this new studio, I have a
new board which is a lot smaller.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
Can you guys hear me?
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (26:36):
Oh yeah, we got you.
Speaker 7 (26:37):
But there are some things that have been happening lately,
some gremlins.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Yeah, and there's always something. I was just telling Bo
earlier today.
Speaker 7 (26:46):
I was like, hey, Jose, you know I could hear
you talking in my speaker, So be careful if you're
talking bad about.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Me, because I hear it.
Speaker 7 (26:52):
Just so you know, and he wasn't pressing a button.
So right now, I looked on my board and everything
looked normal. But there is one button that they added
supposedly to make things easier. And since they added this button, guys,
things have been happening.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Yeah, it happens. We got wasps in the system every
now and then we powered through it. We power freaking through.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
But that was weird. I was like, no, I didn't
press anything. I shouldn't do anything. No, I did it.
Did you guys hear me at the start?
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Yeah, for a second, you were saying something about how
you love the Indianapolis five hundred.
Speaker 7 (27:28):
Okay, so you didn't. That's even weirder that you did.
Hear me at the beginning, and that's what I heard.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
I thought, that's And do you know why it messed
up Manzi? Because it was because it was a lie,
a lie.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Of course, I had to watch the Indie five hundred.
I'm working, I have to report on it.
Speaker 7 (27:45):
The would I have watched it if I was at home, No,
But I was here, so I had to watch it.
I was gonna ask Brian about the crime Manzi, which
was between the bad one between Felix rosen Quist and
Kyle Kirkwood where he ended.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
Up upside down in the time went yeah to the stand.
Speaker 7 (28:03):
Well, it didn't hit anybody, but it hit a car
and made some damage.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
I know. Wow, why George, we take a lap, I
know it. Yeah, this one out take a lab Yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Yeah, that was nuts. That was nuts.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Yeah, that was wild. There was some crazy stuff, a
lot of red flags. They stopped the drama at It was.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Fun, sure, fun fun. I'm sure Kirkwood did not think, well,
not that.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Not sliding on your helmet, that's lots of that was Yeah.
Speaker 7 (28:31):
They asked him after how it was, and he's like,
when I saw the sparks flying, that's where I got
scared because I knew I was still moving and they couldn't.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Get to me yet.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
Yeah that's that's yeah.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
No, no, never good, never good.
Speaker 7 (28:42):
But Joseph Newgarden has won the Indy five hundred and
how he set at the end finally, finally, because apparently
he's been in it since twenty twelve and hasn't won.
So he got really excited, even jumped into the fans.
He like immediately left the racetrack. But let's talk a
little baseball right now. The Rockies are beating the Mets
eleven to seven top of the eighth inning with the
Reds officially they've beat the Cubs. Eight to five was
(29:04):
the final score. The Astros and the A's were tied,
but not anymore. Houston up four to one, top of
the six, Marlins holding on to a one run lead
over the Angels in the top of the six inning,
Diamondback shutting out the Red Sox for zero. Top of
the six, and the Pirates are on the scoreboard, but
the Mariners are still up three to one, top of
the six inning.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
Back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Good stuff, good stuff, mon see. Yeah, we'll see if
it's kremlin free next hour. Yeah, but it's it's interesting,
like what's gonna pop up?
Speaker 3 (29:29):
I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Yeah, waiting for like Notre Dame fighting Irish football highlights
next time. Maybe, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Nobody cares about Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
No, Hey, they've won championships. George can't say that for Oregon.
When's last time of that for Oregon? Eighty eight? Hey,
last time for the Ducks.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
And just and just so you know, the only reason
why that they were in the national championship in what
year was that when they got at their absolute uh doors?
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Why memories?
Speaker 1 (30:01):
Who who was? Who who? If it weren't for the
name brand of notre No no, no, no no, you
can't play who you No, you can And now now
I need to know if you are if you are
an honest man or you are mantis?
Speaker 4 (30:17):
Right?
Speaker 1 (30:19):
Who would have been in that nation?
Speaker 2 (30:21):
You have to refresh my memory? Okay, because I know
Florida was in the in the picture.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
There your thoughts, the the answers organ okay?
Speaker 2 (30:30):
And were they undefeated?
Speaker 1 (30:32):
No?
Speaker 2 (30:32):
No, okay, I don't want to hear it.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
Then just because you're undefeated does not make you don't
want to hear it.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
It's not like there U c F and played a
group of five conference schedule and then like you know,
Billy Bob Tech and you TEP in the non conference. Okay,
there's a big boys schedule if you haven't y'all.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
And y'all won every single game on like the last play,
your last drive.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
They crushed Oklahoma that year and they were supposed to
lose that game. Great road win.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Great roadway. Okay, Okay, you're the bas so you're doing
the so you're doing the blan yos right now. That's fine.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
It's Brian Blanos here from the tirec dot com. Know
this is funny, George. I think you'll find this funny
before we get to according to Manci here in less
than ten minutes. Do you remember when Kevin Harlan, this
was during the NCAA tournament and so play by play
guy Kevin Harlan, who is one of the best in
(31:30):
the business, he was calling a college basketball game and
he was motioning for everybody to just kind of be quiet, right,
this is the moment where I got to deliver the
epic call, Like you guys just hang back a little
bit over here. You remember that when he was doing
it in THEA in March mad as he did, Yeah,
(31:50):
I had. I kind of remembered that last night as
he's trying to deliver this epic call as Derek White
tips in the winning bucket for Boston and stan Van
Gundy is just all over the call, Like listen to
Harlan trying to like box stan Van out of the
(32:10):
way so he can get some time here.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
Oh, he got rid of.
Speaker 9 (32:16):
His shot Game seven, so so that you're gonna win.
There's a game seven, Bacon.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
And then the official Sezarba even chimed in on his
epic call.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
That is just he just stole his hall man, he
stole his whole moment and rob like, this is my job.
This is five part harmony. Yeah, five part harmony.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Stan you analyze, I am the play by play guy.
You get out of my lane. Stand. Oh gosh, he
was just all over.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
And I've called games like just even if the time
gets the only time, people are usually cool like that.
If you are the color guy, you have to throw
it to break or the color or analysts, whatever word
you choose in the moment and you have to throw
it to break because something got all jacked up or something.
That's fine, but you cannot you cannot steal that moment.
(33:18):
That is the play by play guys juice, and especially
when you're doing if it's for radio, it's a little
bit different. But for television they're like, let it breathe,
let it breathe.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
Yes, there was no breathing from stan Van Gundy right there.
We got to hear a little bit of that again.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Hey, who got.
Speaker 9 (33:40):
A game seven? The Suns are gonna winners a game seven?
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Oh man a stan Van God bless him. I love
me some stand van Bud. That was not the time
for that. Somehow I made the call better though, made
it better.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Oh dude, dude. And then I was thinking about I
was like, dude, if you did that to Gus Johnson,
I think Gus Johnson would punch you in the face
if you get that. If you did that to like
Marv Albert when when he was younger, he hit it
through your elbow.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
I could feel that with Bob Costas.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
Oh god, yes he would. Bob would jump off of
his box and he would he would jump off the
box and pick you, pick up the box and hit
you with it.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
Pat Summer All would be like, go ahead, I'm only
gonna say like three words anyway, so have at it.
You know, he was a he was an economist over there.
But yeah, Bob Costas, I think you could see evil
in his eyes if you were to step all over
his call like that.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Oh god, yes, oh.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
Man, all right, coming up next. According to Mancy hardcore opinions,
colorful delivery. That's what she gives you right around the corner.
I'm Brian No, He's George Reister. Keep it locked right
in here. On Fox Sports Radio. Brian No he's George
Reister here on Fox Sports Radio. If you want opinions,
(35:03):
if you want strong takes mixed with some personality, you've
come to the right place. It is time to dive
into this.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
For absolutely, that's what it's going to be.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
Pretty according to Monsie, I love it.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
According to Manzi, the Celtics may have momentum, but they
have a lot to worry about.
Speaker 7 (35:26):
Yes, and I'm glad Georgie said all the things he
did because he's talking about role players when in reality,
I think that's a big part of it. Miami, everybody
on that roster knows exactly what their role is.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
The Celtics, I don't feel the same way. They barely
won Game six in spite.
Speaker 7 (35:45):
Of Jimmy Butler and bam Adebayo going nine of thirty
seven combined. Jason Tatum terrific first half. Hey, he even
scored in the fourth quarter. Beautiful, But there were so
many controversial calls on both sides, not just you know,
going only against my Miami. Jimmy Butler was not an
offensive foul late in the fourth quarter when you went up,
that's not an offensive foul.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Don't tell me. In slow motion it is because everything
changes when you watch it in slow motion. Be quiet.
Then there was that weird and one call for Jalen Brown.
Speaker 7 (36:13):
In the third Oh, that Miami challenged, and then the
guy's covering Stepvan Gundy and all those guys, They were like, Oh,
the rest determined that both players made contact, so the
bucket counts.
Speaker 3 (36:26):
Nobody gets the foul, Miami gets the ball.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
Wait, what that was foul number five?
Speaker 3 (36:30):
It would have been exactly and I didn't. I was like,
but they just said both of them fouled, so shouldn't
this be a jump ball and.
Speaker 7 (36:35):
They both get a foul. I was so confused by
that call. Didn't like it at all.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
But really the main thing.
Speaker 7 (36:41):
Is that I think Boston does it not everybody.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
On that roster knows who they are.
Speaker 7 (36:46):
So if it goes down to the wire, is Boston
gonna set up a play for Jason Tatum, who has
literally struggled in the fourth quarter? Are they gonna go
to Jayalen Brown? Are they gonna go to Marcus Smart?
Who knows? But on the other side, Miami, everybody knows
exactly what their role is.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
They're going in confidently.
Speaker 7 (37:02):
I know they lost the last three Miami knows that
Jimmy Butler hasn't done well, He's gonna snap out of it.
He's fully aware that if he would have played better,
this wouldn't even be a conversation. So I think the
Celtics will be losing Game seven at home just because
I think the Heat know exactly who they are.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
The Celtics don't.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Interesting right there calling for the outright up set. What
Miami eight point dogs? I might have to investigate the
money line on them, according to Moncey.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
According to Monci, the Lebron James hate is getting really boring.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
You guys, are you not bored with this? I'm so bored.
Every single time.
Speaker 7 (37:41):
Somebody wants to argue about Lebron James, I want to yawn.
I want to roll my eyes. There are so many things.
I used to be a huge Lebron fan when he
joined the league. Obviously I have a Cavaliers Lebron MVP shirt.
Then he started talking too much thinking he was a
relatable person. Lebron, Let's be real, You're not relatable. Nobody
knows what it's like to be Lebron, and you don't
know what it's like to be anyone but Lebron, and
there's nothing wrong with that. Then he joined the Lakers,
(38:02):
so obviously it's a Clipper fan. I can't root for him,
but I've never hated the guy. And whenever I hear
people talking about Lebron controlling the narrative that he only
cares about himself, I get pored and I roll my eyes.
Lebron is one of, if not the greatest athlete we
have ever seen, so of course the media is going
to cover every move he makes.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
If you hate Lebron, you.
Speaker 7 (38:23):
Should hate the media who's.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
Covering him and tells you every time he takes a breath.
Speaker 7 (38:26):
You should hate social media because everyone is so accessible.
But this guy has never had a scandal since being
in the spotlight at the age of fifteen. That's impressive.
I hated Kobe Bryant. May he be resting in peace
because I hated the Lakers, right, But never once did
I ever ever say Kobe sucked. That was a conversation
I never joined because I was stupid. I didn't mean that.
Nobody meant that. I just hated Kobe because he was
(38:48):
so good and he played for the Lakers. So when
people want to argue that Lebron is like a terrible
basketball player.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
I'm just like, please, please shut up, please be quiet,
sit down.
Speaker 7 (38:58):
You're arguing with yourself and nobody else. You sound ridiculous.
Lebron is the greatest athlete we have ever seen, and
he is going to be followed no matter what he does.
And you just I don't know, I'll turn off your
Twitter or something, but stop arguing with yourselves. People, Stop
hating on Lebron.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
It's boring.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
I know George doesn't have a rebuttal for that. He's
like preach Jon Monzi, Yes, say it, you.
Speaker 7 (39:22):
Know whatstand And I met Lebron and I took him
around Universal Studios one year he was with Chris Paul.
So many people were so mean to Lebron because he
wasn't a Laker. Yet he didn't even say anything. He
would just listen to people hating on him. They would
yell the meanest things, and you would just look at them,
nod and keep going. Like the only thing that I
can can verify is that Lebron loves candy. That dude
(39:44):
was eating candy the entire night, Skittles in his hand.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
Twenty four to seven, no joke.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Very nice, very nice. Okay, Well you had some strong
takes there, Monci. I like what we brought to the table.
You know, you know you got a quick take on
pineapple on pizza.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Well, that's the worst topping there is for pizza, and.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
No, it's actually the best stop.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
Absolutely rich.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
You don't appreciate a good Hawaiian pizza.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Not even a little bit.
Speaker 7 (40:17):
Not even so they Rich brought in pizza and there
was eggplan on it, and so people were like, oh.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
I never thought about eggplan on a pizza.
Speaker 7 (40:24):
And then in my head I was like, oh, I'm
gonna do a no pineapple on pizza. Pineapple is such
a strong flavor, it like takes all the pizza flavor out.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Ill No, not a fan, all right, come it up next.
This guy is more name than game. The name is
greater than the game. Is what we have going on
right now? We will explain we are broadcasting live from
the tire rack dot com studios. Tire rack dot com
will help get you there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire
(40:57):
rack dot com the way tire buying should he all right, George,
So we've got DeAndre Hopkins, stud wide receiver released by
the Arizona Cardinals. He's on the open market, so some
teams might try to get him on the squad depending
on the price tag. So we'll see as the weeks
(41:19):
move along where he does end up. But here's where
I stand. DeAndre Hopkins has had a fantastic career. He's
put up numbers. His year three season in twenty fifteen
is unbelievable, where this guy had one hundred eleven catches
over fifteen hundred yards and eleven touchdowns and the quarterbacks
(41:42):
throwing him the ball were named Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallet, TJ. Yeats,
and Brandon Weeden. That is a quartette of yikes right there,
and DeAndre Hopkins put up those numbers. The difference now
is that was year three for d hop This is
about to be year eleven for Hopkins, and he's gonna
(42:05):
turn thirty one this year. So I still think that
he can be an asset. But you watch George whoever
lands DeAndre Hopkins, that fan base is going to be
envisioning peak DeAndre Hopkins, and that guy has played ten
games a couple of years ago, nine games last year.
(42:26):
Vice Verse I can't remember, but only nineteen of the
thirty four games the last two years he's been nicked up.
Got a hammy here, got a strain there, and then
he got popped for peds. He had a six game suspension.
You're not using peds when you're at your peak. You're
using peds when you lose a step or you're trying
(42:47):
to heal faster. And so I'm not telling you he's
a dud at this point. I'm just telling you don't
have hoop dreams of peak DeAndre Hopkins, because like Denzel's
said in training day, that day is dog. He don't
roll like that no more. That's where I think we're
headed with DeAndre Hopkins.
Speaker 1 (43:06):
Oh no, No, I do not believe that at all,
because last year he came in and played played well,
what do you have about seven hundred yards and three
and three touchdowns after missing the beginning of the season,
he still got juice left bro, he still got juice
now and Kyler, and he didn't even have Kyler for
(43:28):
the full season. Think about that. So I still I
don't believe that he is still one of the three
best wide receivers in the league anymore. But I do
believe that he's a guy who can get you well
over a thousand yards and be a good mentor and
a good leader in your locker room for some of
(43:49):
your young wide receivers. And there are a couple places,
Brian know that I would like to see. Okay, mister
DeAndre Hopkins, sir, it number one on the list Kansas
City Chiefs. No capro, but I mean there. I do
think that we need to figure out exactly how much
money that, yeah, how much money that the Arizona Cardinals
(44:16):
owe him for this year because he has They're they're
taking a twenty two point six million dollar cap hit.
So we do need to figure out how much guaranteed
money that he is owed, because if he's willing to play,
if he wants to win a championship this year, then
you know, then on a one year deal, then that
(44:39):
can be a place where he can go at a
very reasonable price. Obviously he's not going to play for
for Penis. But if he's at fifteen twenty million dollars
this year already, oh yeah, yeah, a good renegotiation of
Patrick Mahomes contract, which they're working on right right now,
can make that happen.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
Yeah, No, it's an interest. It's a key point because
I don't know the answer to that. I know the
cap hits for this year it was about twenty million. Yeah,
it was going to be about sixteen pillion for next year.
Speaker 1 (45:11):
And then there's the Eagles. I would love him with
the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
You want to add him to aj Brown, DeVante Smith,
and Dallas Goddard.
Speaker 1 (45:20):
Why not the Dallas Cowboys definitely an option. The Jets,
the Bills, Oh, oh my gosh. And I forgot my
number two team behind the Chiefs, and that is the
Baltimore Ravens. So you get him O'Dell Beckham Junior and
then him getting a chance to show those two guys
(45:43):
getting able to show Rashat Bateman and the rest of
that young receivering crew how to be pros. Oh my Lord,
have mercy.
Speaker 2 (45:52):
Like, here's the thing going to the Ravens. That'd be
fantastic for the Ravens. It'd be fantastic for Lamar Jackson.
I would it be great for DeAndre Hopkins. Why there
are such better options in terms of quarterbacks out there
than Lamar Jackson. If you're a wide receiver and you're
trying to get.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
Yours okay, so where so where would you go? WHOA?
What are those places look like to you? My friend?
Speaker 2 (46:20):
Well, now the question is how big of a how
much of a haircut is he willing to take? Financially?
Right Like, I don't know, And that's a big part
of the equation. I don't know what if Arizona owes
him some coin, because there's still some guaranteed money on
that deal. I don't know the answer to that. So
(46:40):
that's a big part of the puzzle. If he's owed
a chunk and he says, Okay, this offset's the haircut
I'm going to take. If I go to a team
with the top flight quarterback, maybe that's his thinking. If
they owe him hardly any guaranteed money, well that changes
the thinking. I don't know the answer to that, because
everything I've seen is about the cap hit, it's not
about what he's owed. But if you put that to
(47:03):
the side, yeah, there are interesting options out there, like
the Chiefs and the Bills. They only have a million
dollars each in cap space right now, you know. So
that's the tricky part is I don't know what's even
realistic depending on how bad to go to a certain team.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
Well, and that's where too, that the Patrick Mahomes contract renegotiation,
that that can give them an option because remember he
said he wants a quarterback. That's all in an opportunity
to win. The Vikings could be a spot or the Lions.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
See the Lions are definitely a spot. They've got the
cap space for it. But the question is does he
want to team up with Jared Goff. It'd be interesting
to see.
Speaker 1 (47:47):
Jared Goff's a good quarterback.
Speaker 2 (47:48):
I mean it was a good quarterback the second half
of the season.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
Holder And I'm glad we got a chance to talk
about Jared Goff, my friend, because a lot of people hate.
Speaker 2 (47:59):
On a lot of people are telling the truth about
Jared Goff having an awful first half of the season.
He came on down the stretch.
Speaker 1 (48:07):
I told y'all that the well that the Rams they
win that Super Bowl with Jared Goff or with Matthew.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
Stafford, I don't believe that.
Speaker 1 (48:19):
I'm just telling you, bro facts of facts.
Speaker 2 (48:21):
I mean, when you're talking about a clutch throw for
a touchdown to Cooper Cup when it matters most, I
want to see Jared Goff with no Odell Beckham Junior
for most of the game. You think he would have
just not missed a beat when they put up three
points against the Patriots, Oh, he would have been a
fish out of water.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
Bro you have you are sorely underestimating that that man,
sorely underestimating him because because people are, they've judged him
by what he was doing when he was super young
in the league, super young.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
From that, like he was in the super Bowl against
the Patriots. You know, I'm not asking him to put
up fifty five points. You gotta do better than three.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
Uh Tom Tom? Tom Brady in at Super Bowl score
scored how many points?
Speaker 2 (49:14):
Thirteen?
Speaker 1 (49:15):
Okay, ten more? Part of it was on the.
Speaker 2 (49:17):
Defense ten more and a grinder of a game.
Speaker 1 (49:20):
Wait, and also his coach said that he got out coached,
so it wasn't even on the player.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
Well, you got to have a secondary pitch, you know
what I mean. Like if they take away the play
action game and Belichick says, all right, we're not gonna
let you run the stretch play and you're screwed, Like
you gotta have more than that. That can't you screw
ops to coordinated problem. That's because Jared Goff has been
and always will be limited and if he doesn't have
(49:48):
his play action game, he can't do anything.
Speaker 1 (49:51):
Oh so, kind of like Jimmy Garoppolo and you know
guys like that, kind of like that.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
Yeah, kind of exactly like.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
That, Okay, except for he's way better than Jimmy Garoppolo.
Speaker 2 (50:02):
I mean, I've ever seen Shared Goff and Jimmy Garoppolo
in the same room, That's all I'm saying. That's all
I'm saying. Never seen him in the same room before.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
Dude. Oh oh, but the Jared the Jimmy Garoppolo news, though,
is wild. Have you heard about that?
Speaker 2 (50:19):
We know with the the people through that, because this
is really interesting.
Speaker 1 (50:24):
Okay, So you guys remember when he went to the
Raiders that there was that everybody expected. That press conference happened.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
And then we just we just like, let's let's delay
that for a day for no given reason.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
Yeah. Yes, And now we find out what that really was.
He failed the physical yep, and turns out he needed
off season foot surgery. So and then everybody's like, whoa, whoa,
whoa they signed him hurt. Okay, this must be a
minor procedure. But then we find out that there's language
(50:57):
in the contract, which obviously the NFL Players Association had
to approve, which probably is why it took longer, is
because they found out that uh uh, that they had
to approve that that his money that was a signing
bonus is like eleven million dollars that that turns into
(51:20):
salary for the season if he is not deemed ready
to play for the for the season, which ultimately means
that they can cut him at no cost.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
M No, it's really interesting. Yeah, yeah, and the Raiders
are trying to spend it. Josh McDaniels, the head coach,
is out there and he's like, there's nothing. He's going
through his process, just like we knew he would. It's like,
and he said, nothing has happened that would surprise you
based on the information we had. It's like, dude, you
(51:54):
were completely blindsided by this.
Speaker 1 (51:56):
No, no, no, no, no, no no no. I definitely do
believe that that. I mean, that's the reason why it's
in in the contract is because they did know. So
he is doing the process and all of that stuff.
But but at the same time, this makes the Raiders
look so much more foolish.
Speaker 2 (52:14):
No. Well, yeah, but that's the thing is they knew
about the foot surgery the day he got there and
when he failed the physical, although they had already agreed
to terms by then, so they didn't know that until
they found out, like, oh, shoot, you need foot surgery.
You didn't bring this up to us before. So I
(52:36):
thought they were absolutely blindsided by that news.
Speaker 1 (52:39):
Oh, I think they knew that that whole entire time.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
So then what's the reason to push it back a day?
Speaker 1 (52:47):
Oh because they needed to work out the language in
the contract. So now now.
Speaker 2 (52:56):
So minute, So they're just waiting. Actually, yeah, I've been
meaning they've been procrastinating. Ah, we know, we got to
work out the contract. But it's kind of like me
and Christmas shopping. I just go a couple of days
before Christmas. That's what the Raiders were doing. They were
fully well aware that Jimmy g needed foot surgery, and
on the day of the introductory press conference, they still
(53:17):
haven't worked out the details.
Speaker 1 (53:19):
I would I would agree with that that.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
Yeah, they didn't know until then.
Speaker 1 (53:24):
See, that'd be bad ball on the agent's part. Where
that's dirty pool right there. Yeah, in their press conference
and then there's pressure on the Raiders. Yeah, so then
the Raiders are like whoa, whoa, whoa whoa.
Speaker 2 (53:35):
Yeah, No, that's a power play George by Jimmy g
And you're right the agent where it's like, all right,
here's how we're gonna play this. You need foot surgery.
Just keep it on the download right now. Okay, here's
what we do your introductory press conference. That's when we
let them know. Okay, that's when we break the news,
because then what are they gonna do. They're either gonna
call it off or they're gonna say, what, you know what,
(53:57):
We've come this far, the hell with it, let's just
see it through. And that's what they said.
Speaker 1 (54:02):
Well, because they they were left without very many options
at that point exactly.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
Yeah, yeah, which is craziness. It's wild man. That was
m m mmmm. I wonder how often that happens. That
typically doesn't happen with quarterbacks. For the amount of money
that they were on the hook for, you're talking around
what was it, like thirty three million guaranteed. Normally you
(54:32):
don't wait till the last minute to give a guy
a physical. You know. That's just strange right there.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
Yeah, that was yeah, that was bad ball right there.
Speaker 2 (54:42):
Yeah, but we're not expecting DeAndre Hopkins to go to
the Raiders. Are you expecting him to go.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
To the Lions? No? I expect no?
Speaker 2 (54:51):
Why not, Jared Goff? Is this baller that I'm hearing
you just talk poetically about? Right?
Speaker 1 (54:58):
Okay, So there's a huge difference between where I think
somebody would have success and where they want to go,
because that is big because we are all trying to
do the same things. No regardless of whether you are
the you know, an NFL player, you whether you're an engineer,
(55:21):
whatever your job is, we all want to be paid well,
live in a place is geographically desirable, and have stability,
and like good people to work with, and a place
that your family can can thrive and be and be happy.
(55:43):
So those are all the things that we want. So
we cannot say that that the Lions will compensate him properly,
or that it would be geographically desirable or good for
his family.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
Well, he definitely can't say it'd be geographically designed.
Speaker 1 (56:00):
You know, he might he might like detreat.
Speaker 2 (56:03):
He's got that. It's just man, I've been dying to
live in Detroit.
Speaker 1 (56:07):
Some people love it there, bro some people love it there.
I mean, some people hate hate California. I don't understand
why I hate some do You're right about that? Are
we gonna weave our way back to this one?
Speaker 2 (56:18):
George? Where will DeAndre Hopkins land? Potentially we'll compare notes
at the end of this hour. Coming up next though,
we have a case of underdog role reversal. We'll explain.
I'm Brian No, he's George Reister. Keep it locked right
here on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian No, he's George
Reister here on Fox Sports Radio, coming to you live
(56:40):
from the tire rack dot Com studios. George, I'm turning
into an old man over here. Man, it's crazy. What's
going on? So at the Indy five hundred today and
I'm at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway right now doing the
show with you, and my feet have been crampy all there. Yeah,
I'm still here, man, still here from the race track.
Speaker 1 (57:03):
Oh well see, I didn't even see you. Ain't say that.
That's that's different.
Speaker 2 (57:09):
I thought I thought I threw it out there. No, No, yeah,
my bad.
Speaker 1 (57:13):
Yeah, I am I am in on that. I am
in on going to you know, to live sporting events
and racing is different person.
Speaker 2 (57:23):
It's so special in person. It's a lot of fun. Man.
Speaker 1 (57:26):
It's like it's like hockey. Hockey doesn't translate on on
television the same way it does in person.
Speaker 2 (57:34):
That's true, Yeah, definitely true. But being here from the
Indianapolis Motor Speedway, my feet, George, have been cramping up,
like I don't know if I I've got Liz Frank
injuries over here, like the middle of my foot.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
Like, I hate to even use this reference because it's
tied to something that's not funny at all, But remember
when Tua Tongue of Iilo had the scary head injury
against the Bengals and its fingers kind of froze like that.
That's what my feet are doing. I apologize for using
that example, but I'm just trying to paint a picture.
(58:13):
That's literally what my feet are doing today. George, not good.
Speaker 1 (58:18):
You're probably the dehydrated buddy.
Speaker 2 (58:21):
I think that's what it is. I've been. I've been
doing the do today, George. I'm about five mountain dews in.
Speaker 1 (58:28):
They've got like that, what do you what do you mean?
Speaker 2 (58:30):
They've got a vending machine here at the like the
media center drink out of.
Speaker 1 (58:37):
All the things in the in there. Why would you
be drinking mountain dew.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
Because it's on tap.
Speaker 1 (58:44):
George, Oh never mind. I specifically remember why because because
I forgot that you that your food choices are the
same as any kiddy menu in.
Speaker 2 (58:58):
You might be judgmental. Listen, I love tacos l Pastor.
I love the street tacos that you introduced. I do no,
but those are separate. I do love the ones that
you enlighten me too. And listen, my girls from Mexico City, George,
she knows authentic tacos. All right, she's got that down, pad.
(59:22):
I still have a soft spot for tomatoes and velvet
velvet at cheese on my personal you know, homemade tacos
that will never change. Sorry. Wow, we all have faults, George. Yeah,
it's delicious to me, delicious to me. How about this, though, George,
how about the underdog role reversal where you're seeing this
(59:45):
in the Heat Celtic series and maybe it has an
impact in Game seven. Let's walk through this. So Miami
before the Sea, the series began massive underdogs, huge underdogs,
and then they go three to zero in the series
and they're huge favorites. And what's happened since that time?
They've lost three straight games. Now they revert back to
(01:00:10):
their comfort zone.
Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
You're yes, they're back where they want to be, Buddy.
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
They're back being massive underdogs in Game seven on the road.
And look, Boston, they've been a lot more comfortable not
having that pressure of being expected to win. When they
went down three to OHO, they played with much more freedom.
So I want to see if anything swings back with
Boston being expected to win Game seven.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
Ooh yeah, there's a lot of pressure with that expectation.
I like that. No, that's a that's a very very
valid point because they may go back to what led
them to being down three to OHO. And it was
funny because when people were saying, oh Boston after Game five,
(01:00:58):
they were like, oh, Boston's gonna win this series for sure.
They're shooting the ball well now. And I was like, bro,
the math always mass at some point in time because
they were shooting ridiculous. Derek White was shooting a maze
and all of this. I was like, the math always mass.
That those guys were gonna cool off, and they did
(01:01:19):
in Game six. So now if you're the heat, like
that was the game that you were supposed to win. Yeah,
and now you're in a now you got yourself in
the Kuinki.
Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Dick I know ed, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
And Jimmy, I mean, and think about Jimmy Butler, he's
seen this movie before, like losing a series on a
game on a shot like that, because he was on
that seveny Reisers team win Kawhi Leonard in twenty nineteen. Yep,
shot that shot, that infamous shot, that bounce bounce, bounce, bounce,
(01:01:57):
bounce shot.
Speaker 2 (01:01:57):
And how about this to George because I'm ninety nine
percent sure he was on that Bulls team where Lebron
hit a game winner when Lebron was still with the Calves,
and I'll never forget Lebron. During that game, he landed
on someone's foot and he turned his ankle so bad
it's like his ankle literally touched the floor. And I
(01:02:18):
was watching that game, I'm like, there's no way he's done.
He came back.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
He has recovered from ankle sprains more than any player
in NBA history. I've never seen yes ankle sprain resistant.
Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
The beginning of like the early part of his career,
and even at that stage, I've seen him where I'm like,
he's done, There's no way, And he would come back.
You just like Las's shoes up a little bit tighter
and like just lay through.
Speaker 1 (01:02:46):
It was amazing. It is like this dude is like
just immune to ankle sprays, like they do not impact
him the same way that they do every other human person.
He's just like, I don't worry about it. It's an
ankle spray. It'll it'll, It'll be all right, I mean.
(01:03:06):
And then he played like the people that couldn't tell
that Lebron was hurt in the playoffs. I was like,
what are you talking about? Have you noticed he dunked
like three times the entire playoffs. Yeah, and there were
times he went in the in the key and he
would normally rise up, even even old Lebron would rise
(01:03:27):
up and dunk on these people and he didn't. Yes,
that lets you know that the old man is hurt.
Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
Well, it does, there's no doubt. But when it comes
to Jimmy, you're right. So there's the Lebron buzzer beater
when Lebron was with the Cavs and Jimmy was with
the Bulls. There's the Kawhi Leonard bouncing four times and
in in an epic Game seven win for the Raptors
over the Sixers, and then there was last night with
(01:03:56):
Derek White and point one and he tips it in
and they win that game. That for Boston to pull
that out, Spotter's right, and the tn T guys were right.
If it just bounces differently, I've never given props for
a close miss before, but Marcus Smart missing closely, if
(01:04:17):
that just hits the back iron, it's a freaking rap.
We're talking about Miami and Denver right now.
Speaker 1 (01:04:23):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, yes, that that is incredible. That
is incredible, dude. Like those are the moments that you
never forget in sports, Like I will never forget when
I was in high school and we lost a game
in the playoffs and it was it hurts so bad, dude. Yeah,
(01:04:48):
it hurt in places that you cannot even It still
hurts to this day to think about it. The only
thing that makes it worse is that one of my
former teammates who who had that error at that time,
he ended up in therapy bro wow surrounding it and
(01:05:12):
I didn't even know, and that was kind of like
that was one of them where we were like, damn,
I didn't know that he took that that hard. But
he did. And that's that's tough, dude.
Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
Yeah, And look, that was the definition of a tough
loss for the Miami Heat last night. But at least
it wasn't someone just being a complete goat.
Speaker 1 (01:05:37):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
It's not the equivalent of like the grounder through Bill
Buckner's legs. You know, it was this close miss and
Spolstro was right where if you look at Struce, he
was just playing Tatum and Derek White who inbounded the ball.
He crashed the rim and that close miss, it missed
just perfectly for Derek White to get an op tenuity
(01:06:00):
can be cashed in. I think it's anyone's fault right there.
So my point is I don't think someone committed this
gross error where that would haunt you the same way,
you know.
Speaker 1 (01:06:11):
Correct.
Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
Yeah, we got to get to what quickly became a
footnote and also which is more likely to change. That's
on the way first though, Manzy Belanos to spin us
around this sporting landscape. What's going on here, Monsei?
Speaker 7 (01:06:26):
We got a couple of baseball games still going on.
The Astros are dominating the A's ten to one top
of the ninth inning, and they are plane in Oakland
Marlins are still shutting out the Angels to zero bottom
of the eighth inning, and the.
Speaker 3 (01:06:38):
Red Sox are on the scoreboard, but it doesn't matter.
Speaker 7 (01:06:40):
Diamondbacks are still on top four to two top of
the eighth inning as well. With the Pirates and the
Mariners tied at three apiece, They're about to start the
ninth inning and they are playing in Seattle. ESPN tweeted
this about an hour ago that the NBA has opened
an investigation into longtime referee Eric Lewis involving that burner
account that responded to numerous on league officiating and defended
(01:07:02):
Lewis and other NBA referees. Kind of heard about this
a few days ago, but officially an investigation has been opened.
Earlier today, I got a little bit of Damian Lillard
on his Instagram live.
Speaker 3 (01:07:14):
This is what he had to say.
Speaker 10 (01:07:15):
Joker might be the best player in the league. My boy,
The best player don't always win MVP. I thought MB
should have won MVP this year, But that boy, Joker, boy,
he might be the best player in the league. Watching
him play and playing against him is like.
Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
Blood.
Speaker 3 (01:07:31):
Don't ever miss no cap. You know what I'm saying.
He knows what's going on?
Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
You're very hip.
Speaker 7 (01:07:37):
So I recently found out what that met and I
was like, hold on a second, explain it to me
one more time.
Speaker 3 (01:07:42):
So if I use it like this, then I'm cool.
Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
I'm hold up, you just found out what no cap? Miss?
Speaker 7 (01:07:47):
Yes, I would see like just a little cap or
like you know, the moji, And I was like, what
is his cap?
Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
I don't understand.
Speaker 7 (01:07:53):
I don't get it, And so I had to ask
my boyfriend, who keeps me hip, what it met a
couple of days ago, and he explained it.
Speaker 1 (01:07:58):
He is he younger than.
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
Soolutely not no bud.
Speaker 7 (01:08:02):
He's the one that's hit between the two of us
when it comes to lingo. You know That's why I
know how to how to use it. I'm gucci blood.
I'm good because he taught me.
Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
I know, I know, I know.
Speaker 7 (01:08:13):
I I don't I don't have kids. I don't have
kids in my lives. I don't know what the trending
lingo is. Okay, but I'm learning, Okay, no cap?
Speaker 3 (01:08:22):
All right?
Speaker 7 (01:08:22):
Moving on to soccer, Everton stays in the Premier League
with the one nail win over Bournemouth. What is the
problem here, Georgie what I heard that I heard?
Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
Did you find out what? No? Cat?
Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
Oh recently, let's not talk about it. Let's not recently.
Too recently.
Speaker 7 (01:08:41):
But in my in my defense, I never really cared
to go figure it out because I could have, but
I didn't really care. I was like, that means something,
but I don't know how much I care. And then
I asked, because I saw it again, see it everywhere?
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
Don't hate, don't hate? Appreciate that. I went and learned.
Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
Are you off on dope? Aramonci?
Speaker 9 (01:09:01):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
What? Who?
Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
What? Fresh? It's fresh?
Speaker 2 (01:09:07):
It's fresh.
Speaker 7 (01:09:08):
It's fresh. Yes, see, it's twenties. That's what that means.
Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
How about cats?
Speaker 3 (01:09:15):
That's not slayings? No, which I don't even say.
Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
What do you say?
Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
We say medias? Really? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:09:23):
Oh you can't shun calcatinas?
Speaker 7 (01:09:25):
No kinus never I know what that is, but never
would I use that word. If I'm talking to my
mom or my family carsetinas. No, we say medias.
Speaker 2 (01:09:33):
It's my go tois my girls relatives just call me calcatens?
What a kid?
Speaker 7 (01:09:39):
Do you know?
Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
What kind of athenas are socks? Yeah? So why did
they call you socks?
Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
Because it's one of the few words that I know,
and I just throw it out there.
Speaker 3 (01:09:47):
It's such a it's such a big word too.
Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:09:50):
Good for you, fantastic, No, good for you. I like it.
Speaker 7 (01:09:53):
Yes see see Georgie, this is what we want positivity, catenis.
Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
This is a exactly why I am all in favor of.
Like when when when people hate uh you know with
like people who they date and all this stuff, I'm like, no,
all this all this is great because now now Ryan know,
Now now Brian no has some have some spice in
his life. He's got some seasoning in his life. And Monty,
(01:10:24):
you have somebody who can teach you all the ethnic
This is great.
Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
We're well rounded here at Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
Radio, completely well rounded.
Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
Back to you guys, Thank you, Moncey.
Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
Brian though and George Reister with you here on Fox
Sports Radio. We're coming to you live from the tire
rack dot Com studios. You know what's wild, George is
what becomes a footnote in sports where if you don't
have that tip in by Derek White last night, we're
spending so much time talking about what was Al Horford
(01:10:56):
thinking why would you? Why would you file Jimmy but
taking a desperation three and it's just like it's a
shoulder shrug. Now it doesn't even It's like it never
even happened. Now that Derek White hit the tip.
Speaker 1 (01:11:08):
Ind you are one, one hundred percent right, Yeah, there
would have been so many questions because our man, mister
Jason Tatum. Oh, he would have gotten absolutely crushed. Bro yep, Oh,
he would have gotten crushed. They'd have been like, where
where were you? And I thought Jalen Brown had been
getting an ultimate pass during these playoffs. I was like,
(01:11:32):
how is he getting such a big pass when he's
getting ready to make so much money? Second team all
NBA and ERA, and all everybody can talk about is, oh,
what is Jason Tatum doing? What is Jason Tatum doing?
And you're like, this dude is getting ready to be
the highest paid player in the league at least for
a bit. And we're not talking about the fact that
(01:11:53):
he's playing atrociou well, just playing mid right now. Yeah
that's just three zero and he's just mid. And all
we talk about is Jason Tatum and the head coach,
how was he getting a pass?
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
I don't understand it. George where we talked about it
last series Game six season on the line. He showed
up in game in the fourth quarter against the Sixers,
scored sixteen points. He was the go to guy. And
then in this series it's been time and time and
time again he's just vanishing when it matters most. And
(01:12:29):
I can't explain it. There are times where he is
that go to clutch player and there are other times
where he is just he's on the court, but you
don't even know that he's out there. I don't know
how you explain that.
Speaker 1 (01:12:42):
Well, can you explain to me, Well, I can't explain
that at all, But can you explain to me how
that was the same case with Jimmy.
Speaker 2 (01:12:49):
Butler and Bam last night exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
That's why I think that the Nuggets are shot, provided
that they say healthy that they are going to win
a championship. I mean, they came out against the Lakers
when they had them up three ozho with a type
of abandon and ferocity that was like, we're getting this
over with, We're not giving them any life like Boa
(01:13:15):
Constrictor Green and Akonda. Yeah. Pi, the dude just squeezed
the life out of them.
Speaker 2 (01:13:23):
Hey man. Impressive because they were down fifteen at halftime
and easily in Game four, and they easily could have said,
you know what, it's not our night. We'll get them
in Game five in Denver, and they didn't do that.
So I'm with you, like, when you have the upper hand,
you got to choke that other team out, and they did.
Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
Oh yeah. And that was when I was like, see, listen,
I wish everybody had listened to me and tell telling
them same thing that Dame told them that this dude
might be the best player in the league. Right now.
Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
We got to get to this coming up. George. I
love this dude. I just do not love his logic.
That's on the way. I'm Brian, No, he's George Reister.
Keep it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian, though,
(01:14:20):
he's George Reister. You're on Fox Sports Radio. You know
what if you don't, you get this right? But who Yeah,
this is easy listening right here. This is one of
slip Knot's easier listening songs.
Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
Gosh, I mean, and you seriously listen to that absolute
mind George. I mean, it is mind bending. How you
listen to that?
Speaker 2 (01:14:49):
I George, you gotta give it some way, you gotta
give it, you know how I gave your tacos. I
had an open mind and it was a good thing.
I feel like that's what Metal could do for you.
And yet you just shun it. You just shun it. Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:15:06):
It's god, it's awful. It's it's racket. Uh you know what,
literally racket.
Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
I thought this guy, who I love his logic was racket.
A couple of months ago, Damian Lillard, who is still
a great player, wise dude, and he had an awful take.
He just said, you can't give Jokic the MVP for
a third straight year. You just can't do it. Somebody else.
(01:15:36):
It's somebody else's turn. I completely disagree, if you would have.
I bring this up because MONSI played the audio of
Dame giving Jokic his flowers and saying he might be
the best player in the game right now, which I
think he is. But it made me think about Dame
a couple of months ago saying, oh, you can't give
it to Yokic for a third straight time. Somebody else's turn.
(01:15:58):
I don't care if Jokic won it eight straight times.
I don't care if show Hey Otani and Baseball wins
MVP ten straight years. If he deserves it, each year,
then give it to him. It's a disservice if you
vote otherwise. If you want to make your argument Embiid
had a better season and he was more valuable. Fine, great,
(01:16:18):
I'm all ears, but I don't want to hear anybody's
argument saying you just can't give it to Yokicic for
a third straight time. That makes no sense.
Speaker 1 (01:16:27):
I understand where you don't feel like it makes sense. However,
it does make sense, and where it does make sense
is is what the history of the NFL says. Is
that the history of the NFL they do this regularly, bro,
And it's frustrating, I'm sorry, history to NBA where they
(01:16:48):
didn't give Lebron James he should have won five in
a row plus a couple more right, because they gave
Derek Rose that went in between. And it's frustrating for
or for guys like that where they're just like, come on, man,
I just just give it to the do same thing with.
Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
Jordan, same thing.
Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
Yeah, So but that doesn't make it right now, you know,
because it was wrong, then it doesn't make it right, right, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
It doesn't make it right. However, though, what are you
supposed to do with history and precedent when that's the
way that they've done it, regardless of how the players
would have wanted it done.
Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
I just don't think it makes any sense to be
beholden to a bad precedent. If the president made sense before,
that'd be one thing. But if it doesn't make sense,
why would you be beholden to that. It'd be like
a miniature version of that would be replay in the NFL.
(01:17:48):
You know what I mean. If the original call on
the field is so painfully bad and you can tell
the call needs to be reversed, why would you stick
with the original call if it makes no sense?
Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
You're making sense there, No, that's right, I agree with you.
I'm just saying that that's what they've done, and that
the NBA has a history of going with their precedents. Yeah,
even regardless of how insanely simple minded it seems.
Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
I just hate it. Where I think you should look
at each season in a vacuum. I think sometimes history
can get you away from the truth. Well, think of
it this way. If Emb'd was the back to back MVP,
I think Jokic would have been the MVP this past season.
Like that makes no sense to me whatsoever. It shouldn't
(01:18:46):
be about the previous two years.
Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
Absolutely stupid.
Speaker 2 (01:18:50):
Yeah, I was like, we gotta we gotta look at yeah,
twenty twenty two, twenty three and leave it there. Don't
they think about three beat or Jordan or lebron Is
what happened with wil to.
Speaker 1 (01:19:04):
Be its own standalone event?
Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
Absolutely it should. How about this deal? Moncey's brought it
up with Eric Lewis, the NBA official. He's got a
burner account and he was defending himself and officiating in general.
Allegedly his brother says, no, that was me operating it.
Believe what you will, God, that's what are Believe what
you will there, George. But man, you think about you
(01:19:30):
think about a job where you would need to vent.
There's some tough jobs, okay, and tougher than being an
NBA official. But think about it, night in and night out.
It's only about what you didn't get right from the fans.
It's only about what you missed, and you're getting an
(01:19:50):
earfull left and right from the players. I can understand
a burner accounter two.
Speaker 1 (01:19:56):
Yes, yeah, it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
Doesn't make it right, but I get it. I can't
why you would go on some anonymous burner account and
being like, no, that was a good call. You're out
of your mind.
Speaker 1 (01:20:10):
I agree with that, like where you would want to
do that, but you can't.
Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
You can't, you cannot do it. You can't get busted
for that, man, you can't. All right, coming up next,
it is time for this organization to make the tough
decision and think of the future.
Speaker 1 (01:20:28):
Oh, I might.
Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
Say something that George is really, really really gonna dislike
and it's not meant. I do think it makes sense.
We'll dive in here momentarily. We're broadcasting live from the
tire rack dot Com studios. Tire rack dot Com will
help get you there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free road hazard protection no for ten thousand recommended installers.
(01:20:52):
Tire rack dot com the way tire buying should be okay, George.
So we mentioned Lebron earlier in the show. He came
up when we were talking about Jimmy Butler experiencing painful
defeats one last night, certainly with the Derek White tip
(01:21:12):
in with point one remaining, the Kawhi Leonard bouncing three
pointer hit the rim four times and then dropped dramatic
Game seven win when Jimmy Buckets was with Philly, and
then when Jimmy was with the Bulls, Lebron hit him
with the game winner when Lebron was still with the Cavs.
(01:21:33):
I want to bring this up because we're talking about
what the Lakers might do in the offseason, and I'm
surprised this hasn't come up more. But the idea of
trading Lebron James, Oh God, if you can fetch a haul,
you do it.
Speaker 1 (01:21:53):
No, you don't.
Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
Yes, this is Lebron's last year with the Lakers. And
you know what's funny is I know, I know, I'm
not gonna be ridiculous. I know Lebron is at a
different level at this stage of his career than Paul
Pierce and Kevin Garnett were with the Boston Celtics. But
you know what happened, Danny Ainge. Even though Paul Biers
(01:22:19):
was a highly respected, decade long Celtic who won a championship,
finally they won one since the eighties, KG beloved, and
they put him on the first thing smoking and they
got a halt.
Speaker 1 (01:22:35):
It was fine to leave, though, Like that's different, Like
he was good with leaving.
Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
Paul Pierce his first press conference with the Brooklyn Nets.
That hit him hard. KG sounded like a guy like,
this isn't my first rodeo, I get it. Paul Bers
was like, man, this man, I know why they call
it a business now. He was sullen. But you look
at the Celtic and what they did. They helped build
(01:23:03):
the foundation for this current era. They turned those traded
draft picks into Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown and if the
Lakers can do something similar in terms of getting a
decent amount, getting a decent haul, getting draft capital, that's
gonna set them up way better for the future instead
(01:23:24):
of you've got one year with Lebron to try to
win a title. Your odds are much better moving on
from him getting a haul and trying to turn that
into your next era of basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:23:35):
Absolutely not. If you still have a chance to win
a championship with those players, you keep those players, what
is wrong with you? You have lost your What.
Speaker 3 (01:23:45):
Is their chance?
Speaker 2 (01:23:46):
They just got swept by the Nuggets before the finals.
I think you gotta be realistic about how likely are
the chances the Lakers win it all. Lebron's a step
closer to forty next season.
Speaker 1 (01:24:01):
Yeah, and if he's able to be healthy at that
point in time at the end of the season, then
of course they're better and a good offseason. Adding cool
at adding Kyrie Irving to the to the team. Good lord,
that's a person who can go get buckets at whatever point.
That is going to lighten the load on Lebron James.
(01:24:23):
If you don't stop it, bro the you cannot under
any circumstances like more like that would be that would
give the Lakers a curse. That'd be like trading Babe Ruth.
Speaker 2 (01:24:40):
No, stop it.
Speaker 1 (01:24:43):
You can not trade Lebron James.
Speaker 2 (01:24:49):
You need to trade Lebron James and be realistic about
the next season and your chances not being great to
win it championship.
Speaker 1 (01:25:00):
It would be like the It would be like the
Portland Trailblazers trading Dame without Dame saying okay, cool if.
Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
They could get a haul, that's exactly what they should do.
Speaker 1 (01:25:13):
I would bet you, I would bet you anything that
Lebron James is not tradable. Have you noticed that nobody
ever has ever even broached the idea of trading Lebron James.
And the reason why is because you lose so much
money trading Lebron James. You lose so much money trading
(01:25:38):
him because he increases the value of every franchise, the
amount of tickets sold, the amount of TV games, the
amount of your.
Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
Year for a season. There's one season remaining.
Speaker 1 (01:25:52):
That's it, but he may be back after that.
Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
Okay, so maybe two seasons. Maybe fingers crawl lost, the
planets aligne the Lakers get two seasons out of the guy. Like,
think about that again, it's a good comparison. What would
the Celtics have gotten.
Speaker 1 (01:26:10):
Okay, so.
Speaker 2 (01:26:13):
Value of the franchise, tickets being sold. If you bring
back KG beloved, you bring back Paul Pierce.
Speaker 1 (01:26:19):
Beloved toast Bro they were left.
Speaker 2 (01:26:22):
They were toast, But the Celtics still got a haul
for those guys. And look at where they're at now
when they hit two home runs with Jason Tatum and
Jalen Brown on the cusp of a championship last season,
on the cusp of a historic comeback this season, Like
they're way better off having made that hard decision.
Speaker 1 (01:26:43):
But the difference is is that Paul Pierce wasn't gonna
want to be there without Kevin Garnet, and you know,
and the rest of the crew. He wasn't gonna want
to be there, So that's why you had to trade
Paul Paul Pierce Lebron James. Is that that means Anthony
Davis is then gonna want to be out?
Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
How do you know that? How do you know that
for sure?
Speaker 1 (01:27:07):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (01:27:07):
He could be the guy going forward though.
Speaker 1 (01:27:09):
He does not. That is that is not.
Speaker 2 (01:27:11):
What you give him a running mate? Right, That's not
the only chess piece you move. You bring in Lebron.
Maybe you also bring in a tray young. Maybe you
go crazy mode and bring in Kyrie. But you're building
your future. You're not just saying, hey, sorry, ad, we
traded Lebron. We got a bunch of picks coming our
way in twenty twenty seven. You built for the now.
Speaker 1 (01:27:36):
Okay, so the future? Okay, So what do you think
since since since you came up with this bright idea,
who do you think, like, what what would be a
reasonable trade package to get back if you're the Lakers
and to give if you are a team that's trying
(01:27:56):
to get Lebron James.
Speaker 2 (01:27:57):
Hey, man, it's a great question. I honestly, we don't
know what Lebron would retrieve for the Lakers, But I
would imagine it'd be in the neighborhood of two first rounders.
Maybe you get more, maybe you get two in a player.
I just think that depending are not it depends, I know,
(01:28:21):
it depends on who you're trading with.
Speaker 1 (01:28:23):
Yeah, like you need to get Detroit's pick, or you
need to get you know who else is going to
be terrible coming up? Yeah, you you need to get
one of those extremely bad teams like Houston's pick, Charlotte
maybe yep. Oh, God, give me all of Charlotte's picks. Okay,
(01:28:46):
all of them.
Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
Uh huh, ship them off to Charlotte. You know after
one year, that first rounder in twenty four to twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
Five, you need to wash your mouth out.
Speaker 2 (01:28:58):
Listen. I know, I know it sounds sacrilegious, and it's
as if Lebron has been with the Purple and Gold
for the better part of fifteen years, but it's not
the case. He's got most likely one season left, and
it's just not a good gamble. You're gambling that the
Lakers are on the cusp of a championship, and why
(01:29:20):
would you give that up. I'm arguing your odds are better.
Moving off from the guy and rebuilding your future where
you have multiple cracks at winning a championship, those are
way better odds that way. I just can't bro Okay,
(01:29:42):
now here's the thing, George Brian knowing George Reister with
you here on Fox Sports Radio. How about this. You
think I've got some some wacky things to say over here.
I would argue that there sound but you know what,
different strokes for different folks. If you will listen to
Scottie Pippen Scotti Pitpen. It was on Stacy Kings Give
Me the Hot Sauce podcast, and this is what he
(01:30:05):
had to say about Michael Jordan.
Speaker 4 (01:30:07):
I've seen Michael Jordan play before I came to play
with the Bulls. You guys seen him play. He's a
horrible player. He was horrible to play with. He was
all one on one. He's shooting bad shots, and all
of a sudden we become a team and we start winning.
Everybody forgot who he was.
Speaker 2 (01:30:24):
M We just forgot who Jordan was. You know, Thank
goodness for Pip because Michael Jordan sucked before Scotty showed up.
And then once Scotty showed up, they won titles and
we just forgot about this guy named Jordan. Think it's
from North Carolina. What is he talking about, George, This
is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Speaker 1 (01:30:45):
Oh, it is absolutely not the dumbest thing that you've
ever heard. My gosh. First, Now, if we're being one
hundred honest, emb real right, Okay, Like I'm a Michael
Jordan fan, love Michael Jordan. Think that until Lebron recently,
that you could say that he's the greatest player of
(01:31:06):
all time. Okay. I also believe that we romanticize his
career like like he didn't do anything wrong, like that
is absolutely true.
Speaker 2 (01:31:17):
You're right, I agree with you. Like he I think
he's the goat. But to make it sound like he's
this Paul Bunyan hit every shot, sometimes it does go
too far.
Speaker 1 (01:31:26):
Yes, and that, and the reality is is that Jordan
even said it himself in the last dance that he
had to figure out how to be a team, team
player because he wasn't getting anywhere all by himself. He
wasn't and that and that there are some of these
accomplishments like like like some of the things that we
(01:31:50):
talk about about Jordan is like that that he would
have never gone up for a dunk and myss and
dropped the ball like Lebron did literally did that, like
Jordan didn't turn the ball over against Orlando in a
crucial moment, or that he didn't have to be carried
a couple times in the finals because because he shot
(01:32:15):
so bad, or against the Knicks in ninety three when
they were down two and Scotty was the one who
saved the team while MJ shot three for eighteen.
Speaker 2 (01:32:29):
Man and forget Charles Smith getting blocked four times. You
remember that, Georgan, Yes.
Speaker 1 (01:32:37):
Yes, it's like we don't in singing. Sometimes I dream
that he is me like Mike. I want to be
like Mike. That we forget that I mean, and people
point to his defensive Player of the Year year and
(01:32:57):
they're like Lebron never never won, and you're like the
voter screwed it up. Because that was the seven eighty
seven eighty eight season where Hakeem was first in defensive rating,
first in defensive win shares, third in defensive box plus
plus minus, fourth in blocks, and then seventh in block percentage,
(01:33:20):
and Jordan was sixth in defensive rating, third and win shares,
and twelfth in defensive box plus minus, and he still
got the Defensive Player of the of the Year award,
and that should have been Hakeems.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
You sound like Scottie Pippen's tag team part No, no, no, no,
hold on, hold.
Speaker 1 (01:33:41):
On and then on on Lebron. The year that Lebron
should have got out, I think it's twelve thirteen when
they gave it to markin Gasol. Mark Gasol didn't even
make first Team All Defense that year, okay, and they
gave him the NVBA the Defensive Player of the Year.
So I'm not I I am saying. At the same time, though,
(01:34:02):
that Scotty Pippen saying that Michael Jordan was a terrible
player is an absolute good garbage pail, okay statement. Good. However, however,
though he was right that Michael was a bad shot taker,
bad shot maker, and that he couldn't win anything without
(01:34:24):
the rest of the team. Now, those parts of it
are one hundred percent right, okay, but the Jordan was
terrible stop it?
Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
Well, good, I'm glad you disagree with that part, because
I would argue you're mostly making a different argument than
Scottie Pippen. Scotty's going all in saying that he was
a horrible player. And then when I showed up there,
we never heard of the guy. Again. That's the craziest
thing I've ever heard. And this is the other thing
(01:34:53):
with Jordan. Jordan led the league in scoring ten times. Okay,
now these years they might stand out to you. He
led the league seven straight years from eighty seven to
ninety three, and then also from ninety six to ninety eight.
What do six of those years have in common? They
(01:35:13):
won championships those years ninety one, ninety two, ninety three,
the ninety six, ninety seven, ninety eight. He's leading the
league in scoring. So it's not as if leb that
Jordan is just past. First, I gotta find John Packson,
I gotta find Steve Kerr, I gotta have guys. Where's
Judd Busheler to bail me out here? He's still crushing it.
Speaker 1 (01:35:35):
Yes, yes he was. And the other parts of it
are or that even while he was crushing it, he
still had a really good team around him, and there's
no winning with like like. The narrative a lot of times, though,
is just that he was carrying a bunch of dudes right.
Speaker 2 (01:35:57):
Well, that's false, Yeah, that's a false narrative because they
had guys. Yeah, had a good squad, Yes, yeah, and.
Speaker 1 (01:36:04):
People forget how good Horace Grant was and how good
Bill Cartwright was and how Ron Harper. And I had
this debate with somebody and they were like, oh, look
at Ron Harper's stats. He barely did anything. And do
you know what my retort to that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
Was, Uh, oh, I don't know. I'm not sure where
you're going with it.
Speaker 1 (01:36:26):
Is that is that I said, we're gonna be standing
in or some people are gonna be standing in this
barbershop twenty thirty years from now having this same debate
right about Steph Curry, and then they're gonna be like, oh,
he didn't even he was playing with he was playing
with Draymond Green, and they'd be like, oh, because Draymond
(01:36:48):
Green's stats looked like Ron harper stats. Is that if
we're just looking at, you know, Draymond stats in a vacuum,
you don't understand how truly in important he was to
the game and how important he was to the Warriors dynasty.
Same with Ron Harper, because sometimes we get this, you know, like,
(01:37:12):
let's look at the stats, and yes, the stats are important,
but it doesn't tell the true story on who the
difference makers were between winning a championship and not all
the time.
Speaker 2 (01:37:22):
Well, here's the last thing I would say to you, George,
is I think crazy needs to be dismissed. Okay, Like,
if it's some person on Twitter saying something outlandish about
either Jordan or Lebron, just like this person's crazy, don't
pay him any attention. And I think sometimes when it
comes to a highly accomplished NBA player like Skottie Pippen,
(01:37:46):
that doesn't mean his opinions make all the sense in
the world when he's so Jordan was a horrible player.
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard it, literally, So.
Speaker 1 (01:37:54):
Do you know what listening to just because you're a
great player does not mean that you're always right or
that you know what you're talking about all the time right,
Just like Brett Farv when when Brett Farv a couple
of years ago was like they should take Devon to
Smith first over over Trevor Lawrence, that that that you
(01:38:16):
can get a good quarterback later in the draft. Do
you remember when he said that, I was like, what
the hell is this man talking about? Like, I mean
that that statement alone show Like, yes, I understand Brett
that you were a second round pick. Okay, cool, I
understand that Tom Tom Brady. That's unicorn activity. That the
(01:38:38):
majority of the really good quarterbacks in the NFL have
been drafted in in in the first round. That's just
a fact.
Speaker 2 (01:38:45):
Yeah, listen, So sometimes accomplished players still say painfully stupid
things that happens. Yes, yeah, you just you just miss
it and you move on, you know, because we have
a tendency sometimes to dwell on it. You should just
heisman pose it, you know what I mean, like, keep
it moving. Coming up next, We're keeping it moving. You
got some interesting tweets, some feedback on the show. And also,
(01:39:06):
this team should just go ahead and change its name
and it's not the Washington Commanders. We'll give you some
details on that. I'm Brian No, he's George Reister. Keep
it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:39:16):
I know that you love I would rather and mind you,
this would not be hard for me at all because
I love this genre of music. But most people wouldn't
necessarily know that. But country music, good lord, I would
if I could never listen to if you told me
that I couldn't listen to like hip hop, and R
(01:39:36):
and B anymore. And you just said, George, or you
can listen to its country music, and you were trying
to hurt me. I'd be like, oh, thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
Yeah, well, hey, listen, we all have our blind spots here, George.
You know it does you don't You don't listen to
country music? No, No, not intentionally. I mean I don't
hate it. I don't hate it. I don't dismiss it
the way you do metal. I don't do that. I
still am open minded. But no, it's not like on
my play or anything. But of the things that you do, like,
(01:40:03):
I know that you enjoyed Drive to Survive. Yes, the
f one Netflix series, right, And we had a tweet
come in here from Shane and he says we were
talking about if the NFL were to do a similar version.
They just highlight a number of players. Shane said ob
J would be a great candidate for that show. Totally
(01:40:25):
agree with that. Odell Beckham Junior, New Place in Baltimore,
coming back from another torn acl interesting dude, charismatic, he'd
be great for a show like that, oh for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:40:37):
Due and he's pretty authentic as well, And truthfully, he's
one of the nicest dudes that you'll ever meet. That's
why other superstars and celebrities love to hang out with him,
because he's just a good dude.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
How about this? George from Wiggins checks in and says,
I don't know what no cap means either. I find
it interesting that it's ridicule worthy not to know what
the little children's hip lingo is.
Speaker 1 (01:41:08):
Yeah, but it's not just maturance though, No it's not.
Speaker 2 (01:41:11):
Yeah, it's made it into yeah, mainstream mainstream now no cap,
no cap like no lie. It's basically so when you
hear that about Lebron that he's capp and again they're
just saying he's lying again, that's all. And he is
a man who lies quite frequently.
Speaker 1 (01:41:32):
What do you talk? Are you?
Speaker 2 (01:41:34):
Don't? I know that you were fanning out before, But
don't sit here and tell me that Lebron is steadfast
and is consistently telling the truth because there's not a
bigger liar in spot.
Speaker 1 (01:41:51):
How dare you?
Speaker 2 (01:41:53):
I know you're just trolling me now, No, I'm not
fell for it for a hot second, right there. Okay,
we're gonna get We're gonna into a dangerous game that
I half understand why teams play it, but there's gotta
be a limit first, though. Moncey bolanos with us, and
she's got the latest. What's going on here, Moncey?
Speaker 1 (01:42:16):
Oh come on, no, come on, no, what is not
on me? Where you're not? You're you're not running a
tight ship around here today? Man, what do you mean?
Speaker 2 (01:42:30):
We're running the four by one hundred got.
Speaker 1 (01:42:33):
Going off all the wrong. You gotta tighten it up. Man,
that's not on me. If you're gonna be the captain
of the of the ship, you gotta run a tight ship.
I'm running it.
Speaker 2 (01:42:43):
I'm running. I don't know where she's at. I don't
know if she uh, I don't know ran to go
see some ndy five hundred highlights or I don't know
what's going on over there.
Speaker 1 (01:42:52):
Hey man, you I'm just saying, you can't go blaming
other people. You gotta tight tighten the ship up. It's
your responsibility, buddy.
Speaker 2 (01:43:01):
Okay. Well, in the meantime, let me tell you this, George,
because the Bucks are playing a dangerous game over here,
I think they should just rename themselves. It's no longer
the Milwaukee Bucks, It's the Milwaukee Yiannises. That's what they are.
I'll tell you why that is the case. Momentarily, Manzi
(01:43:22):
is with us. Now, Manzi, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (01:43:24):
Can you hear me?
Speaker 1 (01:43:25):
Now? We got you? Throw you under the Busmanzi. I
wouldn't let it happen. I heard it all.
Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
Oh, I heard it all. I didn't know you guys
could hear me. I was like, mom and dad stop fighting.
Don't fuck mom and dad. That's what I literally was saying.
Speaker 7 (01:43:39):
And then I was like, oh, they can't hear me. Hi, Oh,
I see they're talking to themselves. Okay, guys, let's start
in Major League Baseball. Because we had four walk offs today.
The latest, Ohanniel swat is coming in clutch for the Mariners.
Speaker 1 (01:43:53):
The pitch to Gino.
Speaker 11 (01:43:54):
Swung on a rocket the left field absolutely mash say
you later, walk it off, Jito, three run blast and
the Mirrors have wonning.
Speaker 1 (01:44:08):
They've taken the game, they've taken the series. Shiit up.
Speaker 3 (01:44:16):
Easy. You can't say o Heno, which is fine. It's
fine all on the Mariners radio network.
Speaker 7 (01:44:21):
They beat the Pirate sixty three in ten innings. And
then it was Joset Ramidez for the Guardians.
Speaker 1 (01:44:27):
The one old pitch to Ramirez.
Speaker 2 (01:44:31):
A swing in a lightth right, twenty gap right center.
Speaker 1 (01:44:33):
It's a ace hit.
Speaker 2 (01:44:34):
It'll go to the wall.
Speaker 11 (01:44:36):
Straw scores the time run quatter road, third pace scares
the winner.
Speaker 7 (01:44:41):
Guardians Radio Network on the call. They took down the
Cardinals four to three.
Speaker 2 (01:44:46):
Then it was the Royals run and won the count
winning run at second two out in the ninth line,
right field, and it.
Speaker 1 (01:44:54):
Drops in front of the right fielder.
Speaker 2 (01:44:56):
Here comes the runner home and we'll lend the scorers
that first give.
Speaker 7 (01:45:01):
That was Royals Radio netwhere Michael Massey's RBI single final
score against the Nationals was three to two.
Speaker 3 (01:45:07):
And then it was the Tigers.
Speaker 2 (01:45:11):
The one oh swinga fly ball center field.
Speaker 1 (01:45:13):
This will do it.
Speaker 5 (01:45:15):
Robert will go back.
Speaker 1 (01:45:16):
You won't make the cats.
Speaker 5 (01:45:18):
Turcklesen tags Tigers win.
Speaker 7 (01:45:22):
Eric CAUs with a sackfly all on the Tigers Radio Network.
Speaker 3 (01:45:25):
They defeated the White Sox six to five.
Speaker 7 (01:45:28):
But great news for the White Sox they announced that
their closer Liam HENDRICKX, who battled stage four lymphoma, is
rejoining the team tomorrow against the Angels. The Angels were
shut out by the Marlins today to zero. The Blue
Jay shut out the Twins three zero the Brewers. The
Brewers beat the Giants seventh to five. It's been a
long day, guys. The Oils avoided the sweep and beat
(01:45:50):
the Rangers three to two. The Reds defeated the Cubs
eight to five. Rockies rock the Mets eleven to ten.
The A's have lost eleven in a row, getting out
scored ten to one by the Astros. Boom diving backs
with the four to two victory over the Red Sox.
Yankees beat the Padres earlier today at home ten to seven.
Aaron Judge his fifteenth homer of the season, and the
(01:46:14):
Rays win another one at home against my Dodgers. Eleven
to ten was the final score. In soccer, Leicester City
and Leeds United were relegated from the Premier League on
the final day of the season after Everton ended up
winning one nil over Burnmuth. I hope I'm saying that right.
I think both told me earlier, so I hope it's right.
Joseph Newgarten won the one hundred and seventh in D
(01:46:36):
five hundred. Last year's winner, Marcus Erickson, came in second place.
One baseball game going on right now, Phillies and Braves.
Bottom of the first inning. Braves have already scored five
runs against the Phillies homers from Austin Riley and Matt Olson.
Speaker 3 (01:46:50):
It is five zero in Atlanta. Bottom of the first inning. Guys,
keep fighting.
Speaker 2 (01:46:55):
We love it back to you, Thank you boy, Always
hanging with you, always sure, Priyan Know and George Reister
with you here on Fox Sports Radio. We're coming to
you live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Okay, George,
so Yanna said, at the Kumbo dominant player, two time
MVP won a championship. We all know his credentials. They
(01:47:18):
consulted with Yannis and they said, what do you think
about Buddy said audios muchachos, Get him out of here,
get Boodenholzer out. And then they say, okay, cool, what's
stage two of this plan here? Yannis, you want Nick Nurse,
who interviewed for the job former Raptors head coach. Yanna says, no,
let's get the assistant for over fifteen years, former player
(01:47:39):
Adrian Griffin. And listen, George, I know why they're doing this.
They want to appease Jannis. He is why they're franchise.
It's absolutely about Yannis Janis was at the dinner. The
GM invited Yannis and Chris Middleton over so they could
have dinner with this potential just to.
Speaker 1 (01:48:01):
See if they vibe with him. Bro like that, Like
that's typical, right that. But the but the team still
has to make the decision.
Speaker 2 (01:48:10):
Well, you made a decision. They made a decision. As
they were knighting Yannis, they took the sword and touched
both shoulders and just whispered like which guy, and Yanna
said Griff, and they're like done done. I get why
they're doing it. I'm just telling you it's a dangerous
game to play. Because Giannis is an outstanding basketball player,
(01:48:35):
that doesn't mean Janis is a great coach evaluator, especially
with the dude in Griffin, who's been an assistant for
fifteen years. You took Griff over Nick Nurse, who's wanted title.
You took him over Bud, who's wanted title. Last I
do not want Bud. Okay, you don't want him.
Speaker 1 (01:48:54):
And not because he's a terrible coach, but because Bud
just his lack of a jo yes, his playoff adjustments,
all of those things.
Speaker 2 (01:49:03):
Okay, there's the thing, George. Let me just say one thing,
I'll throw it your way. Bud had a record of
two seventy one and one. That's a lot of winning, yes,
and they also won a championship.
Speaker 1 (01:49:15):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:49:16):
If they don't equal that with Griffin, that is an
outright failure. And I don't want to hear anything else.
Speaker 1 (01:49:24):
That did not win another. If they do not win
a championship, well I'd say it in the next three years,
it is for sure failure.
Speaker 2 (01:49:31):
Okay, that's all I mean the.
Speaker 1 (01:49:34):
Issue and Bud lucked into a championship because Giannis went
god mode and the Phoenix Suns ended up ended up hurt,
and Kyrie Irving ended up spraining his spraining his ankle
too because they were gonna lose that series against Brooklyn
so So and Nick Nick Nurse. I am a huge
(01:49:56):
like higher Nick Nurse guy. Right.
Speaker 2 (01:49:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:49:59):
However, if we're being honest, because I'm you know, my
honesty broker around this joint, is that he also is
getting the benefit of the doubt for Kawhi Leonard leaving.
Speaker 2 (01:50:12):
Is that.
Speaker 1 (01:50:14):
Is that Kawhi Leonard left and he took none of
the heat for putting mid teams out there. You see
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:50:21):
I see what you're saying, where superstar.
Speaker 1 (01:50:27):
But if you do it once it's an accident. You
do it twice, you can really do it well, I know,
hold on. So so he really did it right. But
he also had the great fortune of what happening Kevin
Durant and Klay Thompson getting getting hurt because they don't
win that series with the with the Warriors fully healthy.
Speaker 2 (01:50:47):
Can we came in to that, there's no doubt?
Speaker 1 (01:50:49):
Okay. So so he gets the benefit of winning a
championship against the team that was hurt, and he also
gets the benefit of Kawhi Leonard, which makes it look like,
you know, I can't win win with these guys. But
then there's the other part of it, which is, okay,
(01:51:10):
so why can't you do what Eric Sposter has done?
Speaker 2 (01:51:14):
Okay, were irrelevant with a lesser but less rest.
Speaker 1 (01:51:19):
And you are a tough out every single year, Like, yeah,
you haven't won another championship, but bro, it is Murderer's
road to get you out. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:51:28):
No, I'll hear that fair enough, and that's.
Speaker 1 (01:51:30):
My only pushback, Like even though I'm a higher nick
nurse guy, I still have that in the back of
my mind, Like how can We couldn't do what what
Eric Sposure was able to do.
Speaker 2 (01:51:40):
I think one of the reasons is that Spoe puts
so much confidence throughout the entire roster, where Nick Nurse
has this very limited rotation. He's like, man, you know,
like he's many tips.
Speaker 1 (01:51:56):
And that's actually I think that that's the recipe for success,
because Steve Kerr has done the same thing, Like when
the Warriors go deep, and they did, especially when they
were winning championships, even last year and then the previous
(01:52:17):
three seasons prior to that, they went deep into their bench,
even during the playoffs, because there's this you know, because
you build confidence in the rest of your roster. Even
Darvin Ham at times this year he went deeper. He
went back to Lonnie Lonnie Walker. Obviously, Austin Reeves has confidence.
(01:52:38):
Other guys have confidence, And I think that that's actually
the way that you need to build teams is to
find a way to instill that confidence by playing guys
meaningful minutes in the regular season when they wouldn't ordinarily
get them, like to close out games. You're like, well,
why is that guy? Well, because hey, if everybody can
(01:53:01):
get on board with that as the process to win
a championship. I think that that helps everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:53:06):
I hear you. It's not going to be a pristine,
perfect body of work. But what he does have in
his favor is that he's a very good, defensive minded
head coach. He has won a championship with a superstar.
So to match him with Yannis, I like that fit
right there. But instead Yannis vouches for the guy who's
(01:53:29):
been the assistant the whole time. And you don't know.
Sometimes you're seduced by the unknown to a fault, and
you see these things that aren't perfect with Nick Nurse.
By the way, you're seeing things that aren't perfect with
Ime Udoka last season when they got to the finals
against the Warriors. You're seeing it with Joe Missoula, the
current head coach of the Celtics. It's easier to look
(01:53:50):
at an assistant and be like, oh man, the ceiling
is maybe higher than it realistically is. And meanwhile you
see a guy like Nick Nurse who has gotten some things.
He's not perfect, but what he has gotten right, He's
delivered a championship in the one season where he had
a superstar. I think that matters when you think about
matching him up with Giannis. But hey, the Milwaukee Giannises
(01:54:13):
have made their decision, Yannis, said Griff and they said, okay, okay,
all right, coming up next, let's play a little game
of chance or no Chance. We'll have some fun with that.
I'm Brian no He's George Reister. Keep it locked here
on Fox Sports Radio. I'm Brian Noo. He's George Reister
here on Fox Sports Radio, coming to you live from

(01:54:55):
five the Sports Hub Celtics Radio network. As Derek White did,
beat the buzzer. It's like point one left when he
let the ball go tipping successful Celtics win by one.
Who you got in Game seven?
Speaker 1 (01:55:08):
By the way, George, I'm still going with the Miami Heat.
You're rolling with the heat well, and this is just
a sheer offer. I mean just a sheer, you know,
just the fact that it's never happened in the history
(01:55:30):
of history. Yeah, so like one hundred and fifty one
and oh well, one hundred and fifty and or one
hundred and fifty one and oh now, and you're just saying,
all right, at some point in time, yes, one was
gonna beat a sixteen seed, right, Yeah, like at some
point in time, somebody's coming back from a three to
zero league. It never it happened in baseball in two
(01:55:54):
thousand and four with the Red Sox, has happened in hockey,
And I'm just hoping that it won't be so annoying
that Boston does it again. Bego, oh, they will be
so obnixed.
Speaker 2 (01:56:07):
Oh, they will be obnoxious. I think it's gonna happen
because Jimmy Butler has not looked like himself at all,
and they can't win if Jimmy Butler isn't special, and
he's been the opposite of that lately. So when you're
talking about on the road, and I would just take
the odds and go with Boston. We'll see how it
plays out. How about this, George? Before we get out
of here, I was thinking, why don't we play a
(01:56:29):
little game of chance or no chance. We're looking at
DeAndre Hopkins, now free agent wide receiver. I'm gonna throw
out some names of teams will go super rapid fire.
You tell me if there's a chance he lands there
or there's no chance he lands there, We'll go with
a couple of teams with a lot of cap space. Bears,
(01:56:49):
I say zero chance.
Speaker 11 (01:56:50):
You.
Speaker 2 (01:56:52):
I'll give it a five percent, five percent, Okay, a
little chance there, Panthers, no chance. He wants to go
to a proven quarterback on the cusp of a title.
That's not the Panthers. He's not correct, correct, no chance,
no way, no, okay, the Lions.
Speaker 1 (01:57:09):
Oh, give it a seventeen percent.
Speaker 2 (01:57:15):
I like it. Yeah, I'll say a little chance. Colts
rookie quarterback and Anthony Richards. Zero chance, zero chance, zero
like that. Okay, Bills only one million dollars in cap
space right now?
Speaker 1 (01:57:27):
Uh listen, there's always a way to find some cap
space if you want to find it.
Speaker 2 (01:57:31):
With the percentage.
Speaker 1 (01:57:32):
Oh, I'm gonna go with seventeen.
Speaker 2 (01:57:35):
Seventeen again, okay, I mean barely a scosh of a
chance over there.
Speaker 1 (01:57:41):
Eagles, Oh, I'm gonna go with twenty five percent chance.
Speaker 2 (01:57:45):
Twenty five Okay, I'll say a chance. They've got more
cap space about twelve million. Chiefs only one million in.
Speaker 1 (01:57:52):
Caps, seventeen percent same as the Bills.
Speaker 2 (01:57:55):
I'm going zero percent chance, Like you gotta bring something
to the table financially. Ravens twenty five, twenty five. I go, no,
they already have OBJ. You know, DeAndre comes to his
senses and says they're better passing quarterbacks. What am I thinking?
Why would I go to team up with Lamar Chargers?
Speaker 1 (01:58:18):
I got eleven percent left. Give it to the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (01:58:22):
I'll give it a chance. Patriots last one, zero Z,
no love for Mac Jones. I'll give it a five
percent chance.
