(00:24):
with you, Bud. How are things first and foremost?
Speaker 2 (00:27):
My man?
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Brian?
Speaker 2 (00:28):
Don't you know? No good?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (00:30):
Baby?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
It's always great to be on with you on a
on a Sunday.
Speaker 4 (00:33):
Man.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
It seems like, Brian, this is the part of the year.
Speaker 5 (00:35):
We worked together quite often, you know, people take vacations.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
I feel and I ended up with you a lot. Bro.
Speaker 5 (00:41):
I was going back listening to some of our old
clips from like five six years ago.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
No kidnap, that's serious, Bro.
Speaker 5 (00:47):
You remember the bet we had or the conversation we
had about the Grizzlies and how the Grizzlies.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
I need to know the year of that show. Oh
my gons, Tennessee goes yard again. They're killing me over here.
What is happening?
Speaker 6 (01:04):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:05):
The bats are how baby championships are on the line.
We just saw Boston win one. We got EuroCup, we
got a game seven for for Lord Stanley tomorrow night.
I mean with the USA Soccer Kaitlin Clark w NVA,
I mean, JJ.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Reddick the Lakers, like what do you want, Brian? Where
you want me to go?
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Man, it's smorgasboard right now. And it's so weird because
the NFL it's a part of it. Yeah, but it's
normally the main portion. It's like the corn on the
side or something. You know, it's just weird. It's a stake.
It's like, I don't know, a little morsel on the side.
But yeah, this College World Series, gosh, I hate to
(01:44):
give you bad news at the beginning of the show
here VJ. But I was looking beautiful just about an
inning ago. Two separate, three separate bets. Oh gosh, I'm
gonna be telling on myself right now. So I had
A and M plus two and a half before the
game started, and I'm like, oh, I love that. Then
(02:05):
I got them in game plus one and a half
they had one nothing lead, and I'm like, man, their
pitching is so good. I'm gonna bet them on the
money line. Also three separate bets, so they're up one nothing.
I'm looking great on all three.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Then Tennessee hits a two run Homer. I'm down by
one run money line bet, not looking as good, but
the other two is still looking all right to run Homer.
Just as we crack the microphones, my A and m
Aggie's for today are down by three and all bets
are in jeopardy. They're all losing right now, fej. This
is not good.
Speaker 5 (02:36):
This is why I only really bet hardcore during football season.
I don't trust the NBA, I don't trust MLB, and
I damn sure don't trust like college sports when it
comes to bet. I bet hardcore in the NFL college football.
The rest of the year. I'll leave it up to
you guys. You guys do the betting show every Sunday
and Saturday. I watched during the football season, So this
is your guys department. My partner, Martin Weiss, that's or
(02:59):
Martin V. Jones, urdays Harel Foss already he's a big
betting guy. The year round three sixty five. I'm September
to January, man, So I feel for you, brother, But
hopefully they'll pull it off minutes though sometime that at
the top of the fifth if I'm not mistakes. Where
the seventh they're like the eighth in eighth in it
right now? Okay, now my computer's taking a minute the
load here, my iPad here.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
But so let's let's be positive here. Sure, this is
the way to do it. So my A and m
Aggie's just for today again, they're my aggies because I'm
betting on them. That's it, not in jail.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Are you sure everybody in South ben is okay with that? Oh?
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Yeah, they understand, just making sure, Yeah they get that, okay.
But here's the positive way to spin it. Each run
is potential money from the aggies, you know what I'm saying.
So right, if they score a run in the eighth, okay,
we're down by three, all right, that that gets we're
down by two, That gets us potentially paid. They score
(03:52):
another run, we're down what that gets us another payday potentially.
So maybe we'll look at it positively and see how
that works out. How about the chaos in golf? Normally
would yeah, could see chaotic moments in golf, But at
the Travelers Championship, they're on the eighteenth hole, so the
final hole of the entire tournament, whole number seventy two.
(04:14):
Right protesters start flocking on the golf course. They're throwing
red smoke, They're messing up the golf course. Yet Tom
Kim Birdie the final hole, he forced a playoff with
Scotti Scheffler. They had to move it. I believe the
playoff hole would have been on eighteen, and I don't
know what hole they chose if they went to seventeen.
(04:35):
I think they went to another hole because these protesters
sort of messed up the greens on the eighteenth hole
there today.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
Yeah, fans are crazy out there in Cronwell. I know
it at Travelers. I've been to it before. My only
time I got a chance to see Tiger Woods in
person when I was living in Bristol. Cronwell's about fifteen
minutes from Bristol, so I got a chance to go
out to that tournament out there.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
But those fans man the weather.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
What happens back in the Northeast is the weather breaks
Ryan and it's like here in LA they tell you
when and it gets hot, stay inside because the crime
goes up. Like so back east, coming out of those
dead winners, man, Cole snow slee, ice, salt on the ground,
staying on the ground. The weather breaks, people start to
act crazy in the Northeast, and the weather broke out
(05:15):
there in the last week or so. Man, you gotta remember,
this is coming off the great finish we saw in
the US Open where Rory choked and Deshambo showed his
Mamba mentality holding it together on the bunker shot off
of a after just a crazy wayward shot to the left,
and you know, to to birdieut, excuse me to part
out that whole and win the US Open, but to
(05:36):
come off this and Scottie shuffler man as it, you know,
added to his as this to his trophy case. But
great golfing, great tournament. But the fans bro listen, man,
it's that time of year. Everybody's just getting a little
crazy because the weather breaks. So when that happens, you
get crazy stuff happening. Man, that's so bad.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
It's just.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Like these sports protests. What are we doing? Remember the Timberwolves.
This just popped into my head. This is probably a
year or two ago. Remember that a girl is sort
of like velcrode herself onto the court or onto the stanchion.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Or yeah, I believe it was.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah, the sports protests are the war.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
Speaking of which, do you remember when the girl ran
on the court and threw the T shirt at ty
Lawson for the different Nuggets during the playoffs?
Speaker 1 (06:20):
N Oh, you don't remember that?
Speaker 5 (06:22):
Oh yeah, yeah, this light skinned girl was trying to
get his attention, and the story came out that he
did have some history with her, and I guess not
returning messages.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
And not return the phone calls.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
And she said, okay, no problem, buddy, I'll see you
Wednesday night when you're when you're on the court. And
she walked almost on the court. She had a bald
up T shirt and she threw it on the court.
Fans listening go YouTube it.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
Trust me.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
I remember that.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
Like whoa, And immediately the way my brain wors I'm like,
what you do, Tye? Because don't chick, don't know shorty
just do that out of the blue. Then you know,
the backstory all came out. But yeah, fans, fans doing
crazy things, the sporting events.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
What else is new?
Speaker 1 (06:59):
She's good luck screening this call. I'll see it during
Game five. No, I don't remember that at all. I'm
gonna have to check that out.
Speaker 6 (07:06):
Well.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
I hope that we don't realize what they were protesting.
That's my hope.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
YEA.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Like normally they won't show, like say during the Super
Bowl or most football games, they won't show the maniac
running onto the field because you don't want to encourage
more maniacs to do the same thing. I hope that
we don't even understand what the protest was about. Where
it was like, Ah, these five people, they ran onto
the course, they sprayed, smoke, they did crazy stuff, but
(07:33):
we don't know why.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
Who knows man in today's world with cancel culture and
everyone's offended for everything. Who knows, Brian what they were processing.
As far as the guys that run onto the field,
I don't like. Am I wrong for not liking that
they don't show it? I want to see it. You
want to see it? Yeah, I want to see the
tackle from the security guard. I want to see how
many people. I want to see dudes moves. I want
(07:56):
to see how many guys you can make miss. I
want to see what your running back cut look like
when you hit the a gap in right field. You
know what I'm saying, And you dodge one security guard.
Un you dodge another security guard, And yeah, I wish
they would show it. I hate when they're like, we're
not going to show it to you.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
You don't have to listen. It's not gonna.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Encourage or discourage. People are gonna do what they want
to do. That them not showing it to me, I
don't think helps it.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
I think it does help it because if you got
your fifteen minutes of fame, but put it this way.
If in the next Super Bowl, if somebody runs onto
the field and you know it runs on it midfield
and somehow makes it into the end zone to score
a quote unquote touchdown, you know it's gonna happen during
(08:44):
the next Super Bowl and the next Super Bowl. I
think not showing it does help. I'd be lying to
you if I said I wasn't curious from time to
time what's going on, because you'll hear the crowd. Yeah,
the crowd will be like, oh, and I'm like, what happened?
What happened right there?
Speaker 3 (09:00):
You know?
Speaker 1 (09:01):
So yeah, I'm curious, But I don't like when the
knuckleheads get their fifteen minutes for something like that. It's like, bro,
come up with a better scheme to get your fifteen
minutes than doing something like that. That's low hanging fruit.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Yeah, but we a lot of people take a low
hanging fruit in life. I'm not saying I would do
I would. First of all, I would never do it.
I think it's stupid, but I want to see it.
I want to see if a guy jumps on the
field and out shakes two defensive backs and the security
guarden scores, and he's got a foot and spends the
football and does the Dion. I gotta see that, Brot.
(09:36):
I gotta see the Dion dance. And then he gets
tackled and then it gets handcuffed. It's like, all right, cool,
as long as list as long as no one's harmed.
And I'm not, you know, advocated for any type of
vin say, listen, just no one gets harmed, don't do
anything stupid. But if you get you if you have
one too many Budwiser's too many tequila shots in the
parking lot, hey beef up.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Security, are you know, cut off.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
The drinking time at certain times in State of there's
things they can but someone's always gonna find a way,
Brian to beat the system.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Bro, that's just right. It goes.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yeah. I liked your thought about doing the Dion dance
or anything like that. Sure, the primetime dance is the
best all off.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
You know, if it's off bat he misses a step,
that's gonna be on the ender.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
It's like, man, he need do it right, or hey man,
that dude has to he had to move down, and
you know, it's the talking point.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
It's fun to look at it.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
Like I said, as long as no one gets hurt,
long as there's no physical violence or anything like that,
attack was not gonna hurt. Slap the cuffs on him,
take me in the back, whatever they do, give citation, coordinate,
go about your way.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
There was something that happened this week where I don't
remember what game it was, and it wasn't the video,
but it was just pictures. They showed like kind of
frame by frame pictures and it was pretty funny. So
the guy goes onto the field. I'm gonna say it
was a baseball game. I'm not sure VJ. But he's
running on the field. He did a backflip. It's like
(10:56):
he's feeling himself and the next picture they're showing him
getting tay oh.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Yea, yeah, yeah, yeahah yeah, yeah yeah I saw that.
I did see that. He's stuck the landing.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
He's stuck the landing, and he tried to run away,
and I'm not gonna front. I laughed, because when a
guy sticks the landing then doesn't one to eighty and
then takes off and he gets three steps and the
taser hits him and he loses all body movement and
just kind of just goes limp and falls down to
the ground. It's like, yeah, bro, you have that coming.
But hey man, you got you stuck the landing. I
(11:28):
give it an eight point five. It's not gonna get
you to pears. You're not the next Simone bios. But
hey brother, you got your attention. Nobody knows the guy's name,
No one cares. Like I said, I think it's something
that happens. We know it gets harm we move on.
But hey, we're talking about the guy that did the
back flip and stuck the landing.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
Maybe that is the next Olympic event. You know how
they're doing these outside the box like flag football and
other random of it. It's you know, stick the landing
while running and then avoid the taser.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Avoid the taser.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
Next up, we have Hungary in USA. It's on the
field storming event.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
We got Johnny. Are you know we had all time
quarterbacks when we used to play ball back in the day.
We have all time taser guy.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
And then you know, for certain links you get to use.
This is the five foot taser. This is the ten
foot taser. This is the twenty foot. Twenty foot tatser
is worth thirty points. So if he can nail them
with the twenty four, almost had him with the twenty
foot taser, that's gonna cost Italy the gold.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Oh man, I'm in for it. I'm up for that
for sure. We got a lot to do, sir. We
got a little bit of ball, meaning football of course, right,
and then we've got, like you mentioned, just a smorgasbord.
We got all these sports. We got hockey, we got baseball.
Let's hone in on basketball right around the corner. Sure,
and what's going on right now in terms of Monster
(12:50):
ratings that is on the way. He's vej Husky. I'm Brian.

It is Fox Sports Radio. I'm probably know he's VJ Husky.
We're live from the Tyreck dot Com studios here and
we've got the Sky and the Fever going on right now. Yeah,
VJ got some Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese action. Indiana has
a lead as we're nearing the end of the third quarter,
(14:00):
up by three points.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Here.
Speaker 5 (14:02):
Can I just say, real quick, I appreciate I would
say I'm throwing on that. Dion must be the money
being that we just mentioned Deon Sanders Man, whether you
like him or not, everything the guy touches man. I
remember when this came out Brian. It was number one
on the charts.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
Man Complete Entertainment right there from Dion, There's no doubt
about that. It's crazy how long ago this was.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
Oh yeah, this is ninety two, ninety three, if I'm
not mistaken. This might have been before the Niners. It
feels like at the end of the Falcons because if
you remember too legit the quit was out with mc hammer,
which was the number one record in the world, and
he was going to the Falcons games and he had
his whole entourage Old Town three five to seven, all
the dancers. They would go and be on the sidelines
(14:48):
of the Falcons game. And that's the year Jerry Glamville
actually took them to the playoffs, and I believe they
those of the Skins, if I'm not mistaken, also to
Washington Redskins and RFK and that's how they got a
limit the Deon. Of course, they didn't want to give
him the money, and then Deon went off the Sandra,
let's going to restless history.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
You know what's funny is I don't know if I
can find the audio right now, but I was doing
radio and Fresno years ago. Oh wow, and that's when
Jerry Glanville was a coordinator. I think he was a
defensive coordinator for Hawaii under June Jones. So he was
on the staff. And so I went up to Jerry
Glanville after the game and talked to him. He was
(15:23):
the coolest guy. He sat there and talked for a
little while, interviewed him real fast, and he was a
lot of fun. But oh man, those Falcon teams. I
can't think of a better coach for Deon Sanders to
have played for in terms of if there's a hands
off coach and like, let's just let Dion be Dion,
it was Jerry Glanville for absolutely. He's starting up his
(15:46):
Harley in his hotel room, you know, Like that's how
Jerry Glanville was.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (15:51):
Remember he's also the inventor of NFL stands for not
for long. When you made DS calls like that, that
SoundBite to the official they used to be on the
old NFL film stuff. You used to get the VHS
tapes back in the day. There was no Internet and
there was no NFL network to show that stuff. You
have to get the Sports Illustrated subscription and every six
months they would offer you a video and that was
(16:11):
one of the NFL film's sounds. And I remember that
as a kid, like, yeah, NFL stairs for not for
long when you're making bleep bleak calls like that. He
invented that. Yeah, yeah, Jared.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
And he's like, he's like, you ought to be selling groceries.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
But you know who he was talking to right there?
This is the funny part about that.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Can I take a guess?
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Yeah, it was Mike Pereira.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Oh wow, Oh the review in the Bloe New York guy.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
Yeah, wow, that's who he said that to.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Yep, isn't that crazy?
Speaker 2 (16:41):
I know what the what? The info from back the day.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
He used to be the head of officiating and then
he was with Fox and sort of the uh, who's
the new guy now that does that?
Speaker 2 (16:53):
I'm trying to no idea. I know I have his face,
I just I.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Just don't know the guy Dean. There you go, and
he does a great job. I think Blandino does a
very good job. But how about this hot top time machine?
This is me. I don't know if I hit puberty yet.
When I'm talking to Jerry Clanville. Listen how my voice sounds.
But this was when he was coaching at Hawaii he
was a coordinator and this was in two thousand and six.
(17:19):
Good lord, wow man, Yeah, Hawaii beat Fresno State. Here's
some whack football for you. Wac right, the old whack Conference. Yeah,
sixty eight to thirty seven sounds that right. Hawaii won
by Here you go.
Speaker 9 (17:35):
Coach Hill is getting criticized around here, and a lot
of it is unjust when you're going through a tough time.
What are some of the unfair criticisms though, the most
unfair that you've encountered.
Speaker 6 (17:46):
Well, what I did is I never read a newspaper,
never listened to talk radio.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Just go in and coach.
Speaker 6 (17:50):
What you do is you evaluate the evaluators when somebody
would say you stink, you can't coach, find out what
they've done with their life, find out what they've alplish.
Probably nothing.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
I love that.
Speaker 5 (18:08):
That's awesome, man, because you know because today if a
coach did that today, oh my god, he saw said.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
To the fire and move.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
What if you then you go digging into their LinkedIn
in their Facebook and we're trying to find something they said,
and yeah, man, I miss Theday's where used to be
able to talk a little smack and that's what I
do today. Man, That's why I probably bump some heads
with people or whatever in this business's fans, whatever. But
I just miss the days where you can just get
on air and you can just do your job as
a coach whatever. You could just talk to smack. Bill
(18:37):
Parcells used to say little smart things to the press.
It's like it wasn't just Glad, but there are a
lot of coaches man that just didn't like depressed because
of the way they will portrayed things and write stories
and stuff like that. But Glanville was definitely a character
you think about the times were like him, Buddy Ryan,
those type of guys back in the day spoke their
minds and then today it's just all kind of Bill
(18:58):
Belichick stuff.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
Right.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Oh, we're just gonna about the Patriots to move on
to the next Cincinnati. We're moving on. It is. We
just want the guys to play well. Dada da.
Speaker 5 (19:04):
They won't really answer because any answer is used against them.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
You know what, It's interesting you say that because you
got me thinking VJA and I think a lot of
it has to do because I'm thinking of like Bill
Parcells or Buddy Ryan or those guys who would just
say it not even worry about it. But I think
nowadays when you hear a lot of coaches, there are
many coaches where their team just gets obliterated. You know,
(19:30):
they lose thirty five to ten, and one of the
first things they say in the postgame press conference is
it starts with me. It starts with me. You know,
I got to do a better job preparing this team.
And why do you think that is? I think a
lot of it has to do with how much money
is being paid these days compared to back in the day,
and it's just a different ballgame. It changes the math.
(19:53):
And when a lot of pro athletes look at their
head coach and it's like, bro, I make like five
times as much as much as you may right now,
it's gonna be hard getting through to that guy if
you're like just combative and in his face and challenging him.
I think that's changed a lot of how coaches sound
in postgame press conferences. Do you think that has a
lot to do with it?
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Absolutely?
Speaker 5 (20:14):
Because also you have what we call, which I can
stand is called player empowerment. And what happens is you
can't what's the old saying Brian you can't let the
inmates running and solemn right, So you can't let the
players run the league.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
That's just not how business goes. You and I.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
We don't get to run Fox Sports Radio, right, regardless
of how many people listen to us, regardless of the
power that we have, we don't get the run. There
are people that get paid to run. But if we
screw up on a show, we have to own it.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
We can't well the producer, or well the engineer, or
well my coach or well listened.
Speaker 5 (20:43):
No, just say hey, listen, man, that's all me. It's
just you know, I'll get better, I'll be better.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
My bad.
Speaker 5 (20:49):
I think that just plays over well in sports with coaches,
not only because the money, but not just also because
players can get you fired, and if you can't, you
can't really go at guys. Martin and I were talking
about even with Dan Hurley right coming into the league,
do you even think his coaches style could work in
the NBA today where players can get Frank Vogel was
just fired. After the year the Bucks fired their coach.
(21:09):
They were thirty and thirteen or thirty one as well,
whatever the record was. The guy was in second place
in the Eastern Conference and got fired because a player
wasn't feeling him. They weren't feeling his coaches style and
how he was a nick. McMillan was fired in Atlanta,
which I thought was a monumental mistake because of his coaching.
He coaches too hard. He was too hard on us.
What were here out of Washington about Eric b Enemy Right,
(21:31):
he's oh God, the way the way he talks to us,
the way he coaches us, like yeah, yeah, come on, man.
So I think you're right. It has to do it
with the money, but also player empowerment. Players can get
you fired. So you gotta follow on the sword.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
You know, it's a little taste of it. Here's a
Rams coach Sean McVeigh starts with me, right missus. Steelers
head coach Mike Tomlin.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
When it's that bad across the board, it starts with me.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
It starts it starts with me. It's become so popular.
I for a player, it wasn't me with It starts
with me. See if you like the new remix here,
it starts with me.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Oh wow, with me? Who made that? Starts with me?
Speaker 1 (22:19):
Yeah, there we go.
Speaker 5 (22:20):
Yes, that's funny, that's great. Covering for but twenty two
years stand up comedian. That's creative, that's funny. I actually
do like that starts with me.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Oh man, now you're gonna have me saying that it
starts with me. Why you can't get a CEE in class?
DJ starts with me, starts with me.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
I'll own that starts with me, starts with me. Yeah,
it'd be good if you if that bought you as
much grace in your relationship. You know, if you really
screwed up, it's like it starts with me. You know,
I'm gonna own that I messed up.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
No, no, because if you do that, then it's like,
you're right, it does start. It was your flight, goodness, grace,
and I tried to follow the swording. And now you're
gonna push it in even deeper. Already fell on it.
Oh you want to see it come out the backside.
It wasn't good enough just to see it go in
my gut. You want to see it go through my spy. Okay,
I see what we're doing now. Yeah, DJ for the
(23:14):
Single Life for five hundred please yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
No, it's so true though, it really is. If you
do it as a head coach, it's like, yeah, he said,
it starts with him. You know, let it go. Yeah,
those days, if it happens in a relationship, you're right,
it's you're right. It does start start with you, and
it's oh, you're fault, no doubt about. We're gonna get
back to hoops here in a second. First though, we've
got Martin Weiss with us, your tag team partner on Saturday. Man,
(23:40):
very nice Martin. What's going on, Bud Well?
Speaker 2 (23:42):
First of all, I just want to say it starts
with me here.
Speaker 10 (23:46):
I started with or Elvis Martinez getting suspended eighty games
Toronto Blue Jays infield there he violated Major League Baseball
Performance en handing drug policy. He had just been called
up to the big leagues two days ago, so started
with him. The Yankees acquired infielder JD. Davis from the
Athletics for their minor league prospects. Tennessee leads Texas A
and M right now in the College World Series four
(24:08):
to one, bottom of the ninth inning, no outs, one
on for A and M as Tennessee makes a pitching
change here. If Texas A and M is able to
come back today, they will clinch a World Series win.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
If not, they will go to a deciding game.
Speaker 10 (24:20):
Three protesters interrupted the eighteenth green at the Travelers Championship.
After play resumed, Tom Kim forced a playoff, Scottie Scheffler
eventually getting the win. That is his sixth tournament win
on the year. US men's national team makes its debut
Copa America today. They face Bolivia in about thirty minutes
on Fox. In the WNBA, the Fever lead the Sky.
(24:43):
Actually that may not be true. Yeah, the Fever lead
the Sky seventy two to sixty four. Caitlan Clark with
eleven points and I had this all right here, all right,
eleven points, four rebounds, thirteen assists for Caitlyn Clark. For
Angel reach fifteen points, eleven rebu bounds, ten of those
dreadbounds defensive. Kennedy Carter leading all scores with eighteen. I'm sorry,
(25:06):
Kelsey Mitchell leading all scores with twenty two points. Kennedy
Carter leading the Sky with eighteen. That is at the
start of the fourth quarter. BJ and Brian back to
you guys.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Thank you very much. Martin. It is Fox Sports Radio here,
Brian no vj Husky with you, and like Martin just mentioned,
the sky and the fever heading into the fourth quarter. Here,
they just showed Angel Reese fifteen points eleven rebounds. She's
doing her thing. Man, She's a like the Hoover vacuum
cleaner over there.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Last.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
But look, man, it's just not as interesting a rebounder
compared to a three point shooter. I'm sorry, it's just
not like, forget about Angel Reese, Caitlin Clark. Just put
that to the side. Which is more interesting? Is it,
you know, Steph Curry or a proficient three point shooter?
Or are you just giddy about Anthony Davis or Jared
(25:54):
Allen from the Calves just owning the glass? You know
what I mean. Like, it's just not going to be
as sellable as a three point shooter. It's just more artistic, right.
I think that has a lot to do with the
the disparity in popularity between Angel Reese and and Caitlyn Clark.
It's not the color of their skin, it's the style
(26:15):
of their game. Like the style of your game matters.
Last time I checked. Steph Curry's very popular and he's
not a white guy. I think it has a lot
more to do stylistically than anything with race.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
Well, I'll do like you do him, and I'll separate
the whole Kaitlyn clark In and Angel Reess because to
be honest with John, I'm sick of that topic. But
if you want to go with just three pointer and rebounder,
now I'll throw this back at you.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
What eer are we talking about?
Speaker 5 (26:39):
Because I come from an air where it was pretty
damn fun to watch Dennis Rodman rebound David Robinson, Shaquille
O'Neill and Patrick Ewing like the Kamba mutambo. Like this
guy was literally about six a six nine, he won
six ten, six eleven.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Like they try to listen.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
I met the guy, stood talk to him in the
Vegas nightclub face.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
He's not sixteen six eleven.
Speaker 5 (27:02):
So to watch Rodman, who at one point where it's
averaging sixteen seventeen boards a night in Detroit he did
fifteen plus I believe four or five times fifteen rebounds
or more in the season that if you're talking about errors,
then it's a question.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
But you're talking about today's game.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
We complain about the launching of the three pointers, the
amount of three pointers that are taken, and how basketball
is broken down because it's either it's just dribbling kick
or is pick and rolling pop and kick, And it's
either or just come down and pull up a three.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
There's no more mid range. The big man's taken out
of the game.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
There's no jump hook, there's no there's no big man
with a keen dream shake fallaway jumper, fall away left,
there's no Tim Duncan eight feet to the left, eight
feet to the right, off the glass with the one head.
That stuff's got dark Dirk twelve feet fall away with
the knee up to keep the defender away and then
hold the ball up high so the shot blocker couldn't
get to it. So, if you're talking today's game, Sharret, Yeah,
(28:00):
I mean the three point shot is more autistic, but
I don't think it's great for the game because if
you're just gonna launch forty threes a night, well that
gets kind of old and born to me. When you
watch a bri you can put an NBA game on
tonight and ten possessions. Within seven of those ten possessions
there's three point shots taken.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Well, that's where it changes a bit. I'm talking about
the top individual three point shooters to watch Steph Curry
do his thing. Yes, that's entertaining. Now, granted what you're
talking about to watch most teams jack up thirty five
forty three pointers on the regular, Yeah, and you're hitting
on some nights like twenty five percent. No, not incredibly
(28:42):
entertaining to watch that play out. But I just think
in terms of what sells, what catches your eye. I
like what you brought up with Dennis Rodman, But I
think those are the exceptions. I can think of a
couple of exceptions where rebounding was really exciting. It was
Rodman who was just an artist with what he did,
and I think a guy like Charles Barkley, where you're like,
(29:03):
this guy's six ' four, how is he gobbling up
all these rebounds? So from time to time, rebounding can
be interesting, can be entertaining. But look at some of
these guys. I can go down the list of guys
in the NBA and it's like, who is wowing you?
Jared Allen, Bobby portis embiid go Bear. Are you just
(29:24):
running to your TV like, oh, the stifled towers and
action to that say about ten rebounds? Probably not. I
think there are exceptions. Josh Hart with the Knicks, He's
fun to watch him do his thing. But you understand
my point. I think more times than that a top
three point shooter is gonna outbuild a top rebounder almost
(29:44):
every time.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
No, no, no, that that part I won't disagree to. Like
you said, now, if you're breaking it down to like individually,
watching Kaylin Clark do her thing on the left side
of the FLOORID, that's a sweet spot. She's got that
move where she's got that side step aka that James
Harden side step launch. Quick launch is hard to defend,
hard to get, dude. That's why teams try to keep
her off that side of the floor on the right
side of or percentages a lot lower than it is
(30:05):
from the left side. So that's exciting to watch because
the thing is the distance. It's not the three point shot, Brian,
it's the distance. So when you're launching from.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
Twenty eight twenty nine, thirty feet are what we call
now logo threes. Yeah, that's gonna get me up.
Speaker 5 (30:18):
Yes, watching Steph Curry, I'm tuning in there every go
to state game I possibly can, because the.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
Guy runs around, moves around, gives the.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
Ball, he gets the ball, then he gives it up,
gets the ball gives it up again and next thing
you know, he's standing in the corner wide open.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
It's like, where did he come from? How did you
get that open?
Speaker 3 (30:33):
Again?
Speaker 5 (30:34):
He just had the ball in his hands. That type
of artistry, that type of mastering your game. Yes, that's
gonna be more appealing than watching Jared Allen and those guys.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Those guys don't have the name either.
Speaker 5 (30:46):
Go Bear, I'm disappointed in because to be that big
is that should be fifteen boards a night.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
There should be no excuse.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
Teams don't box out, teams don't rebound the same anymore.
Go Bear should have fifteen boards. You're the biggest guy
on the floor. How are you not leading the league
in the leading the league in rebounding.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
Wimby might be a guy to I'll throw that last name.
Speaker 5 (31:07):
He might be a guy we might look at later
and go man, he just gobbles up everything on.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
The glass because with his length and his athleticsism.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
I'm just looking at the list of three point shooters. Yeah,
like these guys on average per night, they'll make at
least two three three pointers? What you got so, Damian Lillard,
who's gonna say that? No, not exciting.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
I don't want to know Da Da.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Of course, Tyrese Maxi with the sixers. It's fun to watch,
Luca of course doing his step back stuff. You know,
Tyler Hero is a very good three point shooter. Donovan Edwards, uh,
Donovan Mitchell Anthony Edwards. I combine those two together. But
those two guys, creativity wise, they're fun to watch. Kyrie Irving,
(31:53):
he makes two threes on average per night. Luca, Yeah,
I mentioned Luca.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Yeah, throw Lucan' name in there.
Speaker 1 (32:01):
Yes, but you could name ten dudes that are good
three point shooters that are way more exciting to watch
than rebounders. And that's just the way it goes. That's
what captures your attention.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
Yeah, yeah, definitely.
Speaker 4 (32:12):
Man.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
So it's fun to watch, and like I said, it's
even its game. It's fun right now is the Fever
have a nine point leads? Seventy seven sixty eight? You know,
hoping up stepping on my partners feet is updated the
top of the hour. But you know, it's fun to watch.
But like I said, I think it does a detriment
to the game itself because kids now see this and
this is what's being look in college. The three point
(32:34):
attempts in college has now risen up. It's like there's
more threes. The mid range game is gone. The big man.
I missed the big man, bro And I may be
the old guy in the barbershop right now, but there
was something about Robinson going against Shaq or Ewing going
against a La Juan are Duncan going against the big ticket.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
You know what I'm saying. There was something about those matchups.
Speaker 5 (32:56):
No one's excited as you just mentioned, no one's excited
for Al Horford match against against against Alan right that
that's not gonna draw ticket sales. What's gonna draw ticket
sales is Steph Curry and uh the Golda State War
is going to play the bucks because you know, Dame's
gonna lost some threes, Middleton's gonna launch a bunch of
three and Stephan Clay's gonna launch a bunch of a
(33:16):
bunch of three. So do you're right? That does move
the needle nowadays? That does sell the tickets.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Now, I have a question real fast. So we're in
the ninth inning. My Texas A and m Aggie's for
this day, June twenty third, while I'm betting on them today.
So they've got two runners on yep, runners on first
and second, no outs. They're down four to one. How
many runs are they gonna score?
Speaker 2 (33:38):
Here?
Speaker 1 (33:38):
You know, I feel like an auctioneer, like, hey, Lemon,
I got.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Him hitting into a double play right here.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
No, dude, I'm there.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
I got it. I got him hit it. Oh oh oh?
Did I call it? No? No, he just got to
see he just got the runner a second.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
The runner a second, they got the runner.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
One.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Are you trying to jinx my bed over your feet.
Speaker 5 (34:01):
Because I just calling it like I see it. Man,
I just I need this to go to a third game.
I don't want to see this end tonight. I want
to see a final game like the game seven we
got coming out tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (34:10):
Let's meet in the middle. I'll get you Tennessee winning
this game right so you get your rubber match. Can
I get two runs from A and M so I
can win my plus two and a half and plus
one and a half?
Speaker 5 (34:22):
Bets, you're gonna get one run right here, because they
got first and third with one out, so you're gonna, yeah,
you're gonna get one this this this third third base
guy is gonna come in, so you'll get one the
two man if they yeah, the two is gonna be
tough because they I mean, you just got to stand
up a double play ball, that's.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
All you all they have to do.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Hit it to the out.
Speaker 5 (34:40):
Yeah, there's gotta be in. It's gotta be an outfield
hit to get this run in. They hit it to
the short they hit it to the second game's over
line drive, hit it to the outfield.
Speaker 6 (34:48):
Ye.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
We'll have an update on where things stand. And also
some I would say, very funny trolling. Are you a
fan of trolling? When it's done and it's a good.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
G montro even when it's bad, I'm montrolling.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
You know what it's like, it's kind of funny or
a fun spirited I'm all in yeah, so, uh, it's
definitely funny. I don't know if fun spirited, but we'll
throw it your way. Coming up, He's Veja Husky. I'm
Brian No. Keep it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio.
It is Fox Sports Radio. He's VJ Husky. I'm Brian No.
(35:22):
So I've got bad news and bad news, J Which
would you like?
Speaker 3 (35:25):
First?
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Well, I kind of think I already know what it is,
so I've just looked up at the screen. So you
go ahead and go ahead with her brother. Give me,
give me the first, give me the bad news that
hurts the least first.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
Mm. Well, here's the context of it, all right, just
so everybody knows what's going on here. So I hate
to even say this, but at the start the start
of the show, I said, I have three separate bets
on Texas A and M College World Series. Okay, got
him at the beginning of the beginning of the game
plus two and a half. I also got him in
(35:56):
game plus one and a half. Then I also went
money Texas A and M. So things are looking good.
They're up one nothing. Then they give up a two
run homer. Then they give up another two run homer.
Now they're down four to one. So again, we started
off plus two and a half, we're down three, right,
So we got a score VJ ninth inning, Golden opportunity.
(36:19):
First two runners are on base, nobody's out. I'm like,
all right, we get one run, payday, we get two runs, payday,
we win two of three bets. We're in. You know.
So what happens week ground out to second base, they
get one out, So there's runners at the corners. Now
there's a fly ball to it looked like a pop
(36:41):
up to short. It flies all the way out to
fairly deep left field. I'm like, okay, let's tag up.
Let's get this one run. The left fielder catches the
ball and doesn't even turn to throw it to home,
and I'm like, all right, good, we're gonna score easily.
Then the camera puts it on the A and M
(37:02):
guy just standing at third base didn't even try to score.
Him like, oh no, no, we didn't tag. So still
runners at the corners. Two outs. Now we take second base,
no challenge, right, They're like, hey, I go ahead, take
second base. So a base hit gets us two runs.
We win two of three bets Vjay. So it happens
(37:23):
good at bat, battling couple of foul balls. Then it
looks like it's a lazy fly ball the right but
it's carrying VJ. The right fielder backs up all the
way to the warning track, and for a split second,
I think, is it just gonna fly out of here?
College baseball style? You know, Yeah, nope, right fielder caught it.
The dream dies.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Yeah, man, I ain't listen, listen. We need we need game.
We need this game.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
Three.
Speaker 5 (37:51):
We need it, man, These are the dog days of
sports talk radio in the summertime. People in this business
do not understand how will we go through to try
to put a show together, especially for three or four
hours once the finals is over. Once the finals is over,
you're talking like, this is the first college Baseball World Series.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
I've talked all spring.
Speaker 5 (38:11):
This is the first college baseball World Series that's been
spoken by all spring.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Man. But the ball carries is because the heat, man, that.
Speaker 5 (38:18):
Heat out there in Oklahoma, man, where they play on Nebraska, Oklahoma,
where they play that oh MyD so yeah, Nebraska, So
you're out of Nebraska. The heat, the humidity, and you
see it in baseball right once they say, hey, man,
once the summer, once the humidity comes, a gets hot,
that ball starts traveling, that ball starts flying, the home
runs and the home run numbers go up.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
So yeah, we can pop out, man. But it's okay.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
Put your money on Texas, come back, put your money
back on.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
The A and M.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
Yeah, put you o for Game three. Put your money
back down.
Speaker 5 (38:45):
And maybe the sports guys you know, you know me
being I love and I believe in the sports guys. Man,
that's why I do sports the way I do it
because I believe in the sports guys. They'll repay you, man,
if you keep your faith. Now, if you go to
bed tonight talking trash.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
If you go they hear you.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
Okay, if you go to.
Speaker 5 (39:03):
Bed tonight, like you know what, sports gods, maybe I
want to bet in the past, I probably shouldn't have.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
It.
Speaker 5 (39:10):
Just all kind of evens out. But you're gonna take
care of me in game three. I'm gonna keep my
faith in the aggies. Put your money back on the aggies.
I bet you cash in.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
Okay, we'll see how that works out. By the way,
the troll that's related to this game in this series,
this was Lane Kiffin, right, former Tennessee head football coaches
now at Old Miss. I thought this was kind of
funny though. So this is after Game one. Tennessee loses
Game one to Texas A and M, and so Lane
(39:41):
put on Twitter he just put good luck, guys get
off to a great start in the College World Series.
He was quote tweeting something about, hey, here are the
matchups the pitching matchups for tonight's game one or something
like that, and so he tweeted good luck guys get
off to a great start. And that was after they
had lost Game one. I thought it was funny.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
I don't he can't. He can't help himself. Man, Lane
is one of those guys. He can't.
Speaker 5 (40:07):
You're a big college football guy. I'm a big college
football guy. Lane's been doing this for years. But he
some guys, Brian, they just can't help them. So it's
like me at a Krispy Kreme. If I see it
in the lights on, I'm pulling.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Over, Brian.
Speaker 5 (40:19):
I don't care about my dyeing my workout. I'm getting
I'm getting a dozen and I'm two. I'm two win
by the time I go to register.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
There you go, no doubt. All right? Comeing up next.
Are you a fan of this potential big change. We'll
compare notes next. Oh, we got a big change, and
we've got a potential big change that is on the way.
We are broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Tire rack dot Com will help get you there an

fever Sky match up.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
I got it right in front of me, baby.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
Angel re cool little two point bucket, like you were
saying earlier in the show, back in the day, like
ewing against Eliahure. You got Angel Reese got the cool
deuce with fifty three seconds to go, Sky up by
two points. And we're in the final minute over here,
So we got some drama going on. So how about
(41:21):
the big change the Lakers make it official? VJY. You've
got JJ Reddick. He is the new man in control,
new head coach. First impression like it, love it indifferent.
Where do you stand on this?
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (41:35):
I I thought it was one of, if not the
worst pro sports coaching higher. Okay, in the last fifteen
to twenty years. Maybe Urban Myers a name that could
come to mind with the Jacksonville job. And I'm pretty
sure somebody else can tweet and you know, give me another.
But those are just the first two that comes off.
And there's several reasons for this. This has really got
nothing to do with the Lakers. He's got nothing to
(41:58):
do with Lebron. This is just the simple fact that
you hired a guy.
Speaker 2 (42:04):
That's not only got no coaching experience, he's got like
no other NBA experience, Like he didn't work in the
front office, he didn't scout, he didn't he didn't he
didn't do anything. Okay, let's just let's just call it
what it is. This feels like, uh.
Speaker 5 (42:20):
Either it was a move to think Lebron wanted this,
or to appease Lebron, or a privileged move or whatever
whatever people.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
Want to name it. At the end of the day,
it's just it's just a dumb coaching hire.
Speaker 5 (42:31):
When you got guys like Sam Cassel out there that's
been an assistant for fifteen years, got three rings. You know,
he's one championships he made, he's made you know, all
Star games, like he's respected, he's coached like he's been
in the trenches.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
We've seen what happens when a guy who.
Speaker 5 (42:47):
Actually had a great career, he had two MVPs, he's
a first ball ballot Hall of Famer by the name
of Steve Nash, got a coaching job what absolutely zero
coaching experience.
Speaker 2 (43:02):
Zero. We saw how that turned out. And he had
a young cor of guys like he had three three
was still in his prime. He had a young squad
that people are like, oh, man, they could go win
a championship.
Speaker 5 (43:13):
You can't just skip steps. There are steps in life.
We've been told that you have to put your time in. Brian,
you mentioned working in Fresno.
Speaker 6 (43:22):
Right.
Speaker 2 (43:22):
My first gig in this business, I was calling.
Speaker 5 (43:25):
High school football for fifty bucks a game out here
in Los Angeles for Prep Sports Network, and then went
up to Valley's, moved up to Fox Sports West. Got
to call some of the bigger games, your Bosscos and
your Modern Days dj Ouay and Gallele and Bryce Young.
In the state championship game, I called that game like
you have to work your way up. And then I
got to d One, got to call it Big Sky,
(43:46):
got to call a game at Oregon State, call the
game at Oregon, got the fill in and radio. I
was just a filling guy when I first got here, right,
just coming in on Mike Hill Show. You know, Mike
Hill was just coming in on Mike Hill Show. You
work your way up, That's what we've been hold that
you have to do. This just felt like handed and
I think this is going to fail miserably. Yesterday, Martin
(44:07):
put the over under two and a half. I took
the under two and a half.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
Years took.
Speaker 5 (44:12):
Come on, man, come on, man, I don't care who
he tries to surround hisself with. Brian, that's all. That's
all fluff and talk. That's all flip flamm and fluff.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Man.
Speaker 5 (44:19):
Oh well, iff with Rondo and with Jared Dudley. Okay,
and what what's gonna happen if you surround yourself with
those guys. I just think this was a bad move
if you're really looking for the future of the franchise.
Sam Cassell is right, he's right there. I'm a Pisiness fan.
I hope the Pistons gonna hire, but Sam Cassell is
a guy that's right there for me. Brian, I just
(44:39):
think this was one of the worst pro sports coaching
higres I've seen in a long time.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
Okay, so here's the first thing. I'm still angry at
Mike Hill. All Right, I'm not gonna lead because Mike Hill.
So I was in studio doing a show in LA
and Mike Hill goes coming up next, it's Mark Willard
and my man keep it locked here on Fox Sports.
Right now, I'm like, ha, this bastard doesn't even know
my name.
Speaker 2 (45:03):
That's why I.
Speaker 5 (45:04):
Got Mike and I go back to Connecticut, man, like, yeah,
all the way back when he was at the at
the Mouse. That's how long I've known Mike Hill. He's
the guy who got me into Fox Sports, where he's
the first guy to say, hey, come on in and
sit on. Him and Kurt Morrison had their Sunday show yep,
and I will come in and I would just.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
Sit and watch.
Speaker 5 (45:21):
And then the following week, I got to say a sentence.
Then I got to say.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
Two sentences, and I got to say yeah.
Speaker 5 (45:26):
Then I say hey, just stay for the host, and
then it just you know how it works, it's snowballs
from there.
Speaker 2 (45:30):
But yeah, that's my guy.
Speaker 1 (45:31):
That's it's funny how these worlds come together real fast.
And I'll get right back to JJ Lettick. But Kirk
Morrison's my guy because back to the Fresno days when
I was there. Oh, he was friends with one of
the sales guys who worked at the station. They had
gone to San Diego State together and so Kirk would
come on the show when he was still playing for
the Race.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
I was about to say he was a Raider. He's
playing lineback for the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
Yeah, that's right. So it was a really cool thing
at the time because Fresno's crawling with Raider fans. It's
all Raiders and Niners. So yeah, it's funny how that
came together. But Kirk's a great dude.
Speaker 5 (46:03):
His introduction, he he told me a really cool story,
really fast. His introduction to the NFL was being put
in the game when a linebacker got hurt. They break
the huddle and it's against the Patriots. They break the
huddle and he's staring at Tom Brady and Tom Brady.
Speaker 2 (46:16):
Points at him.
Speaker 5 (46:17):
I forget his number, but you know five five's the
mic he goes. He goes, That's when I knew it
was real.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Yeah, right, he goes. That's when I tom braid and
I was like, really tough, he goes. VJ. Tom Brady
looked me in my eye and smiled, Oh man, he
said five haws the mic and then called to play
and random play.
Speaker 5 (46:35):
I thought that was a I never experienced something like that,
so I thought it was a cool story.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
Told me that is cool. That is a welcome to
the NFL moment, Like, wow, this is for real, for real.
So as far as JJ Reddick goes, yeah, where are
you staying?
Speaker 7 (46:47):
Man?
Speaker 1 (46:48):
The first thing I want to put to bed, is
is this a privileged hire or not? Because Jason Kidd
had zero coaching experience and was a head coach right away.
So I don't want this to be the white car
of like it gets played out far too much where listen, man,
some people make it sound like you, as a white person,
you go in for a job interview and they look
(47:10):
at like the resume and it's like, oh, you're white,
You're hired. You just have to say you're white, and
it's all good, like miss me with all of that.
Oh my gosh, right, it does. It's like Saturday Night
Live or something like that. Hey, qualifications here, Okay, so
(47:30):
you uh, I don't know you uh you played at Duke,
you played thirteen years in the NBA, whatever his resume is,
and it's like you could have just put white and
it's all good.
Speaker 2 (47:39):
It would give you the.
Speaker 1 (47:40):
Job, no questions asked. I don't think it's a privileged hire,
but I hear you as far as skipping steps and
when you're trying to learn on the job, that is
not an easy thing to do. Now, Jason Kidd, he's
done a pretty good job and he was just in
the NBA Finals. You know, so it can work, but
(48:02):
were there other candidates that might have been better, might
have fared better. Yeah, sure it's possible, But I just
I think that in terms of cause it gets it's
thrown out there like privileged higher and listen, you threw
out Sam Cassel. There are some guys and I feel
bad for anybody who's been paying their dues, just an
(48:23):
assistant coach for a long long time, waiting for that opportunity.
It'd be like us. You mentioned the radio business, FEJ,
where you're paying your dues year in, year out, year
in year out, and then someone just sort of skips
the line and you might look at that and say
that's messed up. What But hey, if they've got the goods,
(48:45):
if they can get the job done, that's all that matters.
That's all It comes down to, whether you put in
your fifteen years prior or not. It's like, if you
can get the job done, it should go to you.
Now the question remains, can JJ Reddick get the job right?
And that's the thing. VJ like, we gotta look at
this too. That's a tough road to hoe right like that,
(49:08):
that is an uphill battle where Lebron's still playing at
a high level, but he's on his way out. And
then what you've got, Anthony Davis And what in the
West when you just lost to the Nuggets in the
first round, who lost to the t Wolves, who lost
to the MAVs, who lost to the Celtics, Like you
lost to the team who lost to the team who
(49:29):
lost to the team who lost to the team. So
you're nowhere near actual contending and people are gonna look
at JJ Reddick if he's not helping the situation at least, like, bro,
why are you even here?
Speaker 5 (49:41):
And don't forget about OKC and Phoenix. So there's six
or seventeens in Sacramento. I don't I don't believe in
Sacramento as much as other people do.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
Yeah, right, I.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
Try to tell you, don't put them to bed, just yo.
Speaker 5 (50:00):
But I do think that I think. I mean, y'all
come back and be a beast. I think that job's
not gonna miss a step. But that team is just
it's not the same team it was three four years
ago when things were really building for them. But with
this this whole thing with JJ Redkin and the Lakers,
So right, can he get it done. Okay, cool, Well,
let's look at the roster. Lebron and Ad played their
(50:20):
asshof last year. As far as the amount of games,
I'm not gonna take that away from neither one of them, gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (50:26):
They both played over their heads.
Speaker 5 (50:28):
You're telling me, though, that they are gonna do that again,
a year older, more wear and tear, more miles on
the tire, more tread on the tire, another year down
the line. Because this year was kind of like, okay,
let's push all the chips in this year, because we
always felt like it was a do or die year
for Darvin Ham anyway to start the season. So this was, okay,
(50:50):
let's push all our chips in this one year. So
now we kind of have to reset that and do
this all over again. Are you telling me AD's gonna
play upwards of sixty eight seventy seventy one, seventy two
games again this year? We know he's only one fall
down from missing twenty something games. Lebron can slip, his
shoe could come from underneath him, and a groin can
go like we've seen before, and hamstring. He's had the knee,
(51:11):
he's had the ankle. Father Toime catches everybody. I know
the Aquaman commercial was really cool with him and the
Aquaman played a father Time in his backyard. I know
that was really funny and cool for everybody, But no
one beats Father Time. So you gotta tell me that's
gonna happen again. What's gonna be what's gonna happen with Dlo,
What's gonna happen up with Ruy, What's gonna happen with Austin.
There's so many pieces moving and for me to believe
(51:34):
JJ's gonna come in and solve all of this and
one year with no coaching experience, it's just kind of
where I'm standing with this. I think forty one forty
two wins if they're lucky, if everybody's playing at a
high level, the West is strong. And also, I don't
want to point this out, but I have to to
be a professional when things don't start to go right.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
I live out here, Brian, I have my ears to
the ground.
Speaker 5 (51:58):
But I was blessed enough to cover some of the
l towards the end of the season and cover them
in the playoffs thanks to Fox Sports Radio. When things
don't go right, there's certain people that put their hands
in their pocket like they had nothing to do with
what was going on, And can JJ with stand that?
Speaker 2 (52:12):
It always good? Now look at.
Speaker 1 (52:14):
This part, though, is ask yourself this, and I hear
you on all that name you have free will. You
can name any head coach as the head coach of
the Lakers. You could get Spolstra, you could get pop
get whoever you want. Would they get the Lakers far
this next season? I mean ask yourself that question. Really,
(52:36):
what would the best head coach be able to do
with this this rocket?
Speaker 5 (52:39):
I think Spoe could because of the respect that he
Popovich of course, because of the respect that he would command,
walking in the door like he would command. You can't
stay back on defense complaining. He would command you gotta
play defense. You can't play when you want to. You
can't go stand on the block, can't You can't be
demonstrative in the huddle. You can't hear in your eye,
(53:00):
you can't row your eyes at me. But look at
these guys. Look at a couple of these guys. I'm
looking at the standings right here, Miami heat eighth in
the East.
Speaker 1 (53:09):
You know, I know, I'm looking at pop Man twenty
two wins, twenty two and sixty. Wow, okay with Wemby,
who looks like a generational phenom even as a rookie,
you know, and so like knowing the holes with this
roster with the Lakers. I mean really, I ask yourself
(53:30):
that Spoe pop name, whoever you want is the head coach.
What do you think the ceiling is? I think the
ceiling best case scenario is maybe second round.
Speaker 5 (53:39):
I got a guy for you. He just popped in
my head. I think tyler could take this team over
to Hump and they won it. Tyleru and Lebron respects Tyleru.
He won't roll his eyes, he won't be demonstrative, he
won't stay off into space when Tyleru has got his
huddle going and riding on the dry erase board. Because
teams follow the captain if you start acting, if the
leaders start acting a certain way. I got this from
(54:00):
the army man. This is this is real military stuff.
If the general panics, everybody panics the general in the movie,
he never pants with the asteroid about the hit Earth. Yeah,
the main guy is acting like everything. It's like the
captain on the cruise ship. Yeah, we don't have engines
and this wave is coming soon. But you know what,
if I panic, it's gonna be pandemonium. I think Tyl
(54:23):
you could be a guy that could that could write
the ship.
Speaker 1 (54:25):
We've got a question from our trusted producer, Bo Benson
right here.
Speaker 11 (54:29):
Yeah, I just I just want to like, we're writing
off the Lakers now, which is fine, it's whatever.
Speaker 5 (54:34):
I'm not writing them off, just so you know, I
just think forty one forty two minutes like that.
Speaker 11 (54:38):
But you guys both had the MAVs in the finals
this last year. No, the preseason.
Speaker 1 (54:42):
No, they're always surprising. Yeah, anything except with the Lakers
and this roster.
Speaker 11 (54:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (54:46):
I mean but the Lakers, though, Bo, Well, we'll find
an example we can use and then say, well this team, Yeah,
but they don't have Luca.
Speaker 2 (54:55):
No, right, Okay, they don't have they don't have Luca.
Speaker 11 (54:58):
So you know, I just don't want to like you
saw it last year when the Nuggets won and then
immediately you had people going on being like, well they're
a dynasty, they're gonna win two or three in a row.
Things changed so fast, especially with the new CBA. You
like you'd mentioned the Suns as a team to worry
about or a team in the West. Yeah, they can't
get better. They like they have to run back the
same roster because of the CBA.
Speaker 1 (55:19):
Yeah, I just took it.
Speaker 5 (55:20):
But with forty nine wins, with all the injuries that
they had and all the guys that were outdated, they
didn't play together, and they still almost had fifty wins.
So if they just played together ten more games, if
they go five and five, they're fifty four wins team.
Speaker 11 (55:31):
And then they what did they do in the playoffs?
Speaker 2 (55:33):
I don't remember. Well, they got their as kid didn't playoff,
they got smacks, they swept.
Speaker 1 (55:37):
Yeah, but I still look at this where there's just
so much competition, right from a Lakers perspective, You're looking
at the West and all the teams that you have
to deal with. Oklahoma City just went and got Alex
Caruso and that is a hugely good move us. He's
a great defensive.
Speaker 11 (55:53):
Yeah, that's just that's now, like we'll we'll get through
the offseason. I don't know if the Lakers are gonna
make any big moves or anything like that, but.
Speaker 1 (56:00):
That's what I mean. Right, it's gonna take something watching
for them.
Speaker 11 (56:02):
To watching the Dallas Mavericks basically pull the Washington Nationals
and have a good tread deadline and then run that
to the NBA Finals. I don't think we can sit
here and say that any team is counted out at
this point in the no.
Speaker 5 (56:13):
But that's the thing though, in just for a second, right,
I'm not counting them out. But I'm looking at forty
seven wins this year, and once again, Lebron played, you know,
a lot of games, ad played a lot of games.
If those guys each miss five extra games, they're the
forty one forty two wins. I just think is a
fair sessment. They won forty seven this year and they
played they really played above where they probably should have
(56:36):
been this year.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
They played below overall.
Speaker 11 (56:39):
I think they played below overall.
Speaker 1 (56:41):
I just think the I think the Lakers are a
little bit like the Warriors, where the arrow was pointed down, like,
how are the Warriors going to get better to get
over the hump and be title contenders?
Speaker 3 (56:55):
Again?
Speaker 1 (56:56):
It's just not where the roster is. It's the same
thing with the how are they they were a playing team,
you know what I mean? And you've got joh coming
back with the Grizzlies. The Rockets are young and starting
to get better, they could sneak into the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (57:10):
Watch them this year, Yeah, I watched them this year.
Speaker 1 (57:13):
And those are teams that were out of the playoffs,
you know. And you have the Thunder, the Nuggets, the
t Wolves, all those teams as well. I just I
don't see. Forget about JJ Reddick for a second, I
don't see if you put Spoe in there, if you
put Pop in there, if you put ty erwe in there.
I just don't see how the Lakers are making a
deep playoff run. I don't see it with anybody as.
Speaker 5 (57:34):
A and but with Phoenix, I'll tell you this, I
don't think and I said this on Martin VJ maybe
about three or four weeks ago, I think three guys
championships are over. That's Kevin Durant, that's Lebron James, and
that's Steph Curry. I don't think those three guys are
winning any more championships. So I don't think Phoenix is
gonna go win a championship. But at forty nine wins,
if Bradley Build just plays right, I think that's a
(57:57):
fifty five win team. They're a higher See. Do I
think they gonna win the championship? Absolutely not. I don't
think they're championship team. I think the Rant and Lebron
and Steph that era guys. I think it's gone. I
really do. There's still names. They can still put up
numbers and highlights and it makes for great talk. But
talk don't win games, and talk don't hang banners.
Speaker 1 (58:17):
Yeah no, hey man, I hear you. All right, we
got something else to do here. That was a big change.
JJ Reddick Newman in town. Another potential big change right
around the corner. We'll get to that. He's VJ Husky.
I'm Brian No. We're live from the Tireck dot Com
studios here on Fox Sports Radio. It is Fox Sports Radio.
He's VJ Husky. I'm Brian No. Like to welcome in
(58:41):
Adam Kaplan FSR NFL Insider Inside the Birds Podcast. Obviously
a lot of ball to talk about first, though, Cap.
I like learning about you. I like learning things about
you that have nothing to do with football, and the
thing I thought of today, what's your drink of choice?
Are you like a mountain dew guy? Are you a
but light guy? What do you go with?
Speaker 3 (59:02):
Probably if I'm going to have a soft drink, it
would be coke zero, okay, all right, and you don't
want any sugar. And also beer wise would be Guinness.
I like dark beer, some little stream. It's not you know,
not for everybody.
Speaker 7 (59:16):
Yum me.
Speaker 3 (59:17):
And then I'm big on black cherry Seltzer believer or
not by copic called Polar out East. I don't know
if they're out west, Okay, Polar, yeah kind of. Let
My wife got me into that. And I there was
a Seltzer guy ever until about four or five years ago.
And I do like Seltzer, but it's gotta be black cherry.
Speaker 1 (59:32):
You see how much I learned from you just with that,
right man?
Speaker 2 (59:36):
I know everything.
Speaker 3 (59:37):
This is not the beaten path, man. The stuff I
came up with the stuff most people wouldn't like.
Speaker 1 (59:42):
No, that's great right there. Okay, So how about Trevor Lawrence,
Jack's quarterback got the big contract extension. He says, this
doesn't add any more pressure. That might be true from
inside the building that sort of thing, but from the
outside looking in, this has to add pressure, does it not.
Speaker 3 (59:58):
Well, look, they had an awful choke losing fire with
their final six games. It's a team. You know, most
of us who covered the league thought Jacksonville will win
the division. I certainly picked them, like two years ago.
They came out of nowhere. The Vegas odds makers game
a four and a half to five win total. Most
of us thought the under would be the one to take,
and they shocked the world. And then they had a
(01:00:20):
really bad falloff. See everything that happened this offseason, they
were not blaming Trevor Lawrence or Doug Peterson or Press
Charlory the offensive coordinator. They blamed the coach, the defensive staff.
They fired the defensive coordinator, Might Caldwell and several of
his assistants. So they're confident in him. See here's the
thing about the money. As we moved to Lawrence's contract,
(01:00:44):
When you look at his contract and kind of where
he is, he's already shown he could play highly competent football. Yes,
last year was sort of an uneven season, had two
different injuries upper body, lower body. Didn't have a good season.
I'm not going to absolve him of it, but I
know the Jaguars felt that let's get this done now,
Let's not wait to have him play out another year
(01:01:06):
then tag him twice because at some point, obviously, if
you like the player. You have to extend him. If
you do that, those deals for quarterbacks in three years
could be sixty two to sixty five million a season.
So why not get in now if you are convinced
and they are that he's their guy. And this is look,
this is a this is what we call it organizational decision.
(01:01:28):
This is not just football operations. Is this is the
quarterback and the success of the team and how much
money they make off the field is tied to how
well the quarterback does. I mean, that's really the way
it is. And they feel he's going to be a star.
He's not there yet, and he was over hyped coming
out of Clemson, but the guy's a good quarterback and
that's the way that they feel.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Kap, I agree with you many VJ.
Speaker 5 (01:01:49):
Verner Husky here may all was great talking football with you, buddy.
So let's stick with the quarterback contract thing. We know
two guys are up. There's three that are on the
back end, Purty, Stroud and Love. I think those are
three guys that are probably gonna get deals next year
in a little further down the line. But the two
pink elephants in the room or Dak and my man Oos,
the AKA two will Tacoba lower down with my beloved
(01:02:11):
Miami Dolphins. Yeah, we're sitting at fifty five million at
the top. I was listening to my guy TJ. Houschman
Zad and Plactical Birds, who do a great job here
on Saturday mornings. They believe one of these guys is
top is sixty million? Tell me where they might be wrong,
and if they're not wrong, who's getting to it first?
Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
Yeah, I don't see it any of them. Now, I'll
tell you that the number that I've had since, I'm
gonna say probably like November December for Dak if it
gets done, and he's it's gonna be a little bit
of time here. They don't the cowboys believe or not.
And a lot of people don't agree with this, but
this is what they've said publicly and privately, is that
(01:02:46):
they're okay with a not extending Dak's contract. Now. They'll
wait if they have to, because they want anyone gets
they want to get Ceede Lambsteeal done. Michael Parsons also
is a priority Dak. He's they know what they know
what the money's gonna look like. It's gonna betwe fifty
seven and sixty million. It's hard to imagine he'll get
sixty million. I'm not saying he can't. In the end,
(01:03:09):
it doesn't really matter whether it's fifty seven or sixty millions.
It's how From a structure standpoint, it's when can you
get out of it if he doesn't do well, if
you're not happy with the quarterback. But in the end,
the Cowboys do what they normally do. They wait, wait, wait,
wait too long, and they back in and they have
to do deals, and then you got the You got
to to a tongue of Vailoa. The Dolphins are open
(01:03:30):
to extending this contract. That's not the problem. They're not
in agreement of what the money should look like. Now
he also is under contract, okay, fifth your option. They
don't have to do anything right now. They could wait.
It's very rare when we saw with Kirk Cousins, with Minneso,
with with Washington, but it doesn't really happen very much.
Teams typically almost always extend their franchise quarterback like they
(01:03:55):
just don't wait. They don't make the guy wait. But
it to us a very interesting case because the guy
has done a good job. We know he's had an
injury history. That's that's probably not going to go away
for the rest of his career. But they've kind of
got to pick right now. Justin Herbert's had better numbers.
It's in a certain sense not as much last year
(01:04:18):
because Herbert got hurt and his past target group got hurt.
But and I know people argue that Herbert's talent and
I would agree with that. But the Dolphins are pretty
happy with too. I can tell you if I'm talking
to people there, they're pretty happy with him. And they
did make the playoffs last season, didn't go far, unfortunately,
but he is their guy. Now. Brock Perdy again, you
(01:04:39):
can't extend his contract. You have to wait too after
three seasons. That deal.
Speaker 1 (01:04:42):
But it's funny we mentioned, and we were I was.
Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
Hosting on NFL Radio yesterday, that deal because he can't
get it done this year, that's that deal's going to be.
That deal could average. If the Niners don't make them wait,
they're gonna have to do something that could be a
fifty seven million a year deal. And then when you
look at Jordan Love the Packers, there's no way Jordan
Love's playing on the contract that he has he was
(01:05:05):
terrific last season. Yeah, he had a breakout season in
his first year. That one is just simple. They have
to figure out what the average per season. And another
thing with the Packers guys is they do a specific
structure Asians stores are not always happy to do that.
That one won't be easy to get done.
Speaker 1 (01:05:22):
Adam Kaplan joining us here on Fox Sports Radio. There's
been a little bit of discussion about maybe a quarterback
salary cap where a quarterback couldn't make more than twenty
five percent of the cap. You see that, ever being
a thing in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:05:35):
I do now this has been discussed with shallier cap
managers for years just amongst them, and some of us
in the media have talk to them about it because
it's the most important position in sports, and you don't
want to see The thing is the problem that you
have is you have to decide what that number is going,
(01:05:58):
what's that what's that going to look like? You talk
about the percentage of the cap, you tie the the
franchise quarterback to the percentage of the cat. Now do
you go away from the franchise tags. There are a
lot of things that play into this. I do believe
it's realistic someday. Now, remember we have the CBA that
that that they signed back in twenty twenty, so we
(01:06:18):
there's not the only way anything could get done is
if both sides agree to go back and redo it.
But that's an undertaking, that's that's not gonna happen. So
I think that yeah, down the road, yes, when we
get to the end of the CBA, I think that's
a possibility. It's really intriguing. You know, the cap and
the NBA and the NFL are completely different. It's kind
of interesting. There's you know, you got bird rights, got
(01:06:42):
all sorts of stuff with the NBA, and in the NFL,
teams don't worry about so much the salary cap. They
wear more about cash.
Speaker 5 (01:06:54):
Ann Rodgers missed the uh you know, the news, missed
the manage camps camp and stuff, and that was kind
of a big uproar. Is this thing gonna just as
easy as planning as you can say?
Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
Is this gonna end bad? There?
Speaker 6 (01:07:08):
Man?
Speaker 5 (01:07:08):
Because it just hasn't been good since today they made
the move for him. There's just always something and it
doesn't always have to do with football.
Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
Can they right this ship? Or is this thing gonna
end ugly this year.
Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
No, I here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
I could tell you behind the scenes, and I know
it looks bad from missing the mandatory camp that shouldn't
have happened. Now, he did tell them a while back
that he was not going to be there. And because
it's there's no legitimate excuse. You know, It's one thing
if he was like getting married or something, or there
was some family function which he could not get out of,
that's one thing. But this was not that, so he
(01:07:44):
had to be fine for it. But I could tell
you from behind the scenes he has been a leader.
I know some fans don't want to hear it, he
actually has been everything they've hoped. He did a remarkable
job of helping transform that building, like to eradicate some
of the nonsense it's would go on. And I just
tell you, I know the way, talking to two or
(01:08:05):
three people there fairly regularly, how how much he's helped them.
So I know public perception and we know politics and
other stuff with him. That's Alwa's polarizing. But from a
pure football standpoint, which is really only matters, everything's pretty good.
Behind the scenes, from what stands, I.
Speaker 1 (01:08:20):
Want to know before you go cap the betting odds
as to what your next drink will be first? Is
it going to be? Well?
Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
You know, actually see it's funny back out east right
where it's mid nineties, humid, stormy, you get the pop
up storms. But I actually drink a lot of tea
because I've been on the radio a lot this weekend.
I'm trying to get my voice back. I'm a little
bit worn down. So I drink a lot of tea. Yeah.
My man Adam Shine from Serious XM. He gave me
that we were doing draft coverage together, and I said, man,
(01:08:49):
how do you stay on the air for six hours ago?
So I drink a lot of tea. That was about
fifteen years ago, and I've been hooked ever since. I
don't drink coffee.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
Kaplan yucalyptus inspearment tea.
Speaker 3 (01:08:59):
Brother, Spearman, I've heard, yeah, I've heard, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
Yes, you could lift this. Leave Spearman some diced up garlic.
I don't do honey though, keep them doingney, okay, no problem.
But he keeps the voice sweet like that.
Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
Cool All right, Cap, We'll catch you soon, but I
have a good night's there. He is Adam Kaplan FSR.
NFL Insider Inside the Birds Podcast. What is it Uncle
Cy from Duck Dynasty? The guy is always drinking tea?
Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
Yeah, I love that guy.
Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
You're gonna be like cap Now, Kevin.
Speaker 2 (01:09:25):
What's your soda? What's your soft drink?
Speaker 1 (01:09:28):
I go Mountain dew if I'm going soda.
Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
Okay, you go skip Bayless?
Speaker 4 (01:09:31):
All right? You going?
Speaker 5 (01:09:33):
Yeah, I'm a ginger. I'm a ginger real sugar freeze
ginger rele guy. That's the only sol. I don't drink
any So every now and then when I want to
live in my interfact kid orange a nice ice colt
Orange Fanca does the job.
Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
Okay, yeah, you know I've got some more on soft
drinks for you right around the corner here, VJ. But first,
our guy Martin Weiss is with us this evening. Martin,
what is going on? Buddy?
Speaker 10 (01:09:56):
Hey, it was gonna have to start with you. If
you got my name wrong after you was the smirch
and Mike Hill, you call you called that Michael Martin once.
Speaker 1 (01:10:06):
No, No, I wasn't gonna say Michael. I know it's smart.
Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
Michael Washington with the update.
Speaker 10 (01:10:13):
Let's go, Yeah, the Chicago sky we're trailing the Indiana
Fever going into the fourth quarter outscore the twenty four
to fifteen in the final periods, go ahead and get
to win eighty eight to eighty seven. Angel Rees twenty
five points, sixteen rebounds. She had ten and five in
the fourth quarter alone. Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with
twenty four points. Kayln Clark had seventeen points, six, six rebounds,
(01:10:37):
thirteen assists. In baseball, Blue Jay's infielder or Elvis Martinez
suspended eighty games for violating Major League Baseball's performance enhancing
drug policy. He had just been called up to the
majors two days ago. Yankees acquired infielder JD. Davis from
the Athletics for a minor league prospect. Texas beat I mean,
Tennessee rather beat Texas A and M in Game two
(01:10:59):
of the College World Shoes four to one. That series
now tied one apiece A winner takes all. In Game three,
protesters interrupted the eighteenth green at the Travelers Championship after
player resume Tom Kim forced a playoff, Scottie Scheffler eventually
getting the win, his sixth tournament win of the year.
US men's national team did they just score a goal?
(01:11:20):
Won nothing right now, thirty eight minutes left on the
clock playing Bolivia in Group C of Copa America.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
No, it's still won nothing.
Speaker 10 (01:11:28):
Christian Pusilic had an early girl three minutes in for
the Americans. Hey, you know what, that's all I got
back to you guys. Thank you Martin great stuff Sunday
at Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:11:44):
No, I love that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:45):
So yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:11:46):
So my soft drink of choice would be mountain dew
all right, you VJ. You a duke guy or something?
Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
No, no, no, I am a sugar free gingerrell. It's the
only one.
Speaker 5 (01:11:56):
And what's your beer? Because he gave us his beer,
so you gotta give you. You gotta give us your beer.
Speaker 3 (01:12:00):
Drinker.
Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
Oh, you don't drink alcohol.
Speaker 1 (01:12:02):
I don't drink it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
All. With all the rock concerts and games you and
your lovely lady go to, you don't drink.
Speaker 1 (01:12:06):
I know it's crazy. You think I'm like you know,
I do Heroin before the show, you know the personality,
But no, totally straight edge.
Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
All your rocker black leather. You guys be roight. I
see the pictures.
Speaker 7 (01:12:18):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:12:19):
Yeah, you would think you would think I'd drink six
packs during the show.
Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
Oh man, Okay, Nandre.
Speaker 1 (01:12:24):
Okay, cool, No, it goes back to my dad. I
love my dad. I feel but I feel drink like
crazy and struggled like crazy. So I'm like, I've never started.
Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
Yeah you had a big Oh yeah, I'm not a
big drinker. But tequila moving.
Speaker 5 (01:12:35):
To la oh Man, tequila. It makes me dinging on
the inside of my friend. It makes me feel good.
I'm ready to good party. Oh yes, tequila, baby. I
I didn't drink it on the East Coast. I was
a Hennessy drinker on the East Coast. I moved out here.
There's tequila and all the taco Tuesdays, everybody offers you
tequila shots, so you go to the house for the
kickbacks and stuff. So tequila, my beard, though. I love
(01:12:55):
me a good ice cold blue moon with a orange slice.
Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
Okay, there you go. Well, I used to do a
show with he from Salam He's coming up next, right, yep,
And uh uh. He said black people don't drink mountain
dew because I told him drink choice. And I was like, really,
no one, Thank you, Mary, I'm glad. And Karan Butler
former basketball player, right, former NBA guy. It did my heart.
(01:13:22):
My heart smiled when I heard this. So this goes
back to the National Championship game between Yukon and Purdue.
Bleacher Report was doing their courtside couch at the Final Four,
so they're basically doing a show while the game is
going on. And listen to what Karan Butler says about
drinking Mountain dew.
Speaker 4 (01:13:41):
Looks always had a two liters of mount do before
every basketball game until I met the Great Kobe Bryant
and he told me, hey, look, you gotta stop putting
that stuff in your box. So I stopped the Lakers
just just for the year I was with the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (01:14:00):
Hit it back real quick because it made me an
All Star.
Speaker 4 (01:14:02):
That's my story.
Speaker 3 (01:14:03):
I'm sticking to it.
Speaker 1 (01:14:04):
The man drank a two leader before each game. Yeah,
that is some Mountain Dew commitment.
Speaker 5 (01:14:11):
Nah, man, they drink that in the South. My grandmama
lives in Gaffani, South Carolina, and my other grandmother lives
in Clinton, North Carolina. You go down there, that's all
they drink. That's all black folk drinking. You go open
the cooler, the cookout, there's those little juices that look
like grenades. You got those for the kids, and then
you got a cooler full of mountain dew. So I
don't know where he from got that from.
Speaker 1 (01:14:32):
No, I'm cutting up this entire sec please do and
sending it to you.
Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
That's my guy, man. I buffed to him at a
Laker game. I was covering, Man, that's my dude.
Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
This informed me like that.
Speaker 5 (01:14:42):
Nah, yeah, I know they drink. I don't drink it
because Kobe's right. It is one of the worst sodas
you can if you do it, is one of the
worst sodas you could play in your body, is mountain dew.
Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
But that's why it tastes so good.
Speaker 2 (01:14:53):
Nah, man, you're right, it is so bad.
Speaker 5 (01:14:55):
Chrispy Kreme donuts, they're horrible, but going the lights on,
but their delicious. I'm to win at the register, bro,
I'm licking fingers trying to pay.
Speaker 1 (01:15:03):
There you go. All right, Coming up next, there's a
potential big change, you know, maybe mild change. We'll compare
notes if you even are in favor of this change
happening at all. And also some funny news that occurred
just the other day. We'll throw both of those stories
your way. He's VJ. Husky, I'm Brian. No, hang with
us right here. On Fox Sports Radio. It is Fox
(01:15:26):
Sports Radio. He's VEJ Husky. I'm Brian no coming to
you live from the Tireck dot Com studios. So how
about the NC DOUBLEA tournament, the Big Dance. It might
expand again, VJ. We're talking about maybe seventy two teams,
maybe as many as seventy two. I missed the tea.
Speaker 2 (01:15:44):
I missed this one. When did this drop?
Speaker 1 (01:15:46):
Yeah? So the NC Double A. This week they presented
these potential changes, like seventy two or seventy six teams
to conference commissioners. Now, what do you think the chances
are the conference commissioner are gonna be like, okay, more money, Yeah,
better chance for our teams to be in the tournament. No, right,
(01:16:08):
Like yeah, it's just gonna keep expanding and expanding. I'm
not a fan of it. What are you saying?
Speaker 5 (01:16:12):
Oh no, I'm one hundred with this. Let's go, let's go,
because I don't think it's fair. Okay, for the Soul
for instance, the Swack, the BAC, the you know, the
the Horizon League that gets one team in that wins,
that goes on a hot streak from a Wednesday to
a Saturday or Sunday and wins the tournament with eighteen wins.
(01:16:33):
And there's a team that won twenty five games that
have a slip up ball doesn't bounce their way. Miss
is the last second layer. Missus has a bad free
throw night in the in the semi finals are the
conference tournament, and they can't go that. That's that's bush League.
I've never liked that. I do like the expansion. Give
me Brian, give me more teams, Give me more games,
(01:16:56):
give me more time to sit on my ass and
eat nachos and wings and watch. Give me a bigger
bracket to do. I'm all for this world that doesn't now,
don't go to in eighty six eighty eight. We're getting
ridiculous there. But if it went to seventy two, I'd
be okay with that. Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
I don't like it. I'm not gonna make the biggest
deal out of it, because if it's seventy two, we're
talking four more teams. But the thing I don't like
about it is I don't like that mediocrity is further
being awarded, you know what I mean, Like I don't
want c students to get new.
Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
Cars, you know, like happened in my family.
Speaker 1 (01:17:36):
Yeah right, you gotta earn this. Man. If you're an
A or a B student, Okay, if you're a C
minus student, I don't think you should get anything of
great value. And that's what that's what a bid to
the Big Dance is. It's great value and we're awarding mediocrity.
And it's also one of these things where you're going
head to head with football in the fall and winter,
(01:17:59):
and it's like, if you're giving me more reasons that
this doesn't matter. Right, there's a great margin for error.
You could lose the night's game, probably the next game,
probably the next game, and still have enough margin for
error to still make it into the NCAA tournament. Why
am I going out of my way to watch your games?
(01:18:19):
You know what I mean? So if you consider the
competition as well, I don't think more margin for error
does your sport a lot of good when you're trying
to get more eyeballs in the middle of football season.
So I just don't like it, but it's gonna happen.
I mean, it's an exercise in futility. If you're yelling
at the clouds like no more expansion, it's just gonna
(01:18:41):
keep expanding and expanding. It's more money, so they're gonna
do it for that.
Speaker 5 (01:18:44):
Absolutely, But at the same time, everybody is expanding, Brian,
The NFL expanded their playoffs, the Major League Baseball expanded
their playoffs, and look, even Major League Baseball to get
the Wildcard. Now, you can't tell me that's not more exciting.
You can't tell me that doesn't you know that that
Wildcar Series early early in October is not exciting. People
are gonna tune in, people are gonna watch it. We
(01:19:05):
sit and we go, oh no, wait, we're not or
we don't care until the time comes and there's nothing
because by the time college basketball really revs up, NFL
is over, and dude, people do tune in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
Look, let's just be real. The NBA is getting out
done by the w NBA right now. Let's just be
honest about it. The w NBA was over talked over
the NBA playoffs this year. So once football is.
Speaker 5 (01:19:30):
Over, people are reaching sports nerds and dorks like us man,
we're reaching for stuff to hinge on to. Right, am
I gonna watch Southwest Louisiana Tech and McNeese State in December? No,
absolutely not but am I gonna watch them in a
conference game in March and then they put up the
(01:19:51):
RPI and put up when they lost to this team
or lost to this team. It then makes me go,
oh wow they Oh yeah, they need this one, because
if they didn't drop that game back in November that
I didn't give a damn about, then.
Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
They wouldn't need this game. So far, I do think that.
Speaker 5 (01:20:02):
It will bring a lot more attention and people are
gonna is sports man betting. Come on, man, the betting thing.
As long as you keep expecting is spending. You can
you can place more money that people can make more money.
So you're right, it's just gonna keep expanding.
Speaker 1 (01:20:15):
Yeah, it's gonna keep happening to keep it there. Yeah,
we got a lot to do in the final hour
here VJ. We're gonna get to the funny story and
also which quarterback extension makes you worry the most. Oh,
there is some ball to discuss. We will get to
that in just a minute. We are broadcasting live from
the tirack dot com studios. Tire rack dot Com will
(01:20:38):
help get you there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers
ti rack dot com the way tire buying should be,
all right, VJ. So we were just talking to Adam Kaplan
last hour. Yeah, and we found out his favorite drinks,
you know, Coke zero, Guinness, Black Cherry Seltzer, interesting like
(01:21:02):
that selection. But we're also talking NFL contract extensions. And
so while you were asking him about, hey, what's the
deal with Dak? What's the deal with Tua, Tounguavai looa,
those sort of names, I started thinking about it from
a different angle. And that's why I love talking to Cap,
because you think of things from different ways. So I'm
(01:21:24):
gonna throw out three quarterbacks and you tell me who
you would be most uneasy about extending. Okay, let's go
all right. So we've got Dak. Dak has put up numbers,
but he hasn't gotten him to the Promised Land, and
you gotta pay a lot of blaymakers on that roster.
(01:21:44):
Would it be him? Would you be more uneasy about extending? Tua?
Tua's put up numbers, but he's got an extensive injury history,
and there's Jordan Love with the Packers now put up
numbers last season, had a really good first year as
of starting quarter. But you're talking about major money for
a dude who's basically played one year. So is it Dak,
(01:22:07):
is it Tua or is it Jordan Love that you're
most apprehensive about giving the.
Speaker 2 (01:22:13):
Back right now? It would be Dak.
Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
You going Dak.
Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
Yeah, it would be Dak.
Speaker 5 (01:22:21):
And the reason why is because you have to pay
CD and you gotta pay Mark Micah. I told Martin yesterday,
and I'm gonna stand on this and I'll put it
out on the show with you and I right.
Speaker 2 (01:22:32):
Now, Micah.
Speaker 5 (01:22:35):
If you take too long paying Micah Micah Kawalk, you
can lose Micah.
Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
I think he's that type of guy.
Speaker 5 (01:22:42):
I don't think Micah is sold in like the star
on my helmet Jerry's World Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (01:22:49):
Micah's a guy number one. He's a dog. Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:22:52):
He's one of the better defensive players in the league,
the best defensive players in the league. He's up there,
best set guys. He's up there wreck games, wrecking your
game plan. If if if a team I threw out
there yes Sday, like a team like San Francisco next year,
if Bosa doesn't, you know, he misses another six or
seven games they've already had to restructure him once. Okay,
(01:23:14):
he could be a veteran. They can look at it
and go, you know what, man, let's let's let's let's
cut our ties. Now, let's go get a Let's go
get a stud. Let's go get another young stud and
just keep it rolling. We god can't stay healthy. We
can find somebody and put that money to a younger,
star stud player. I can see a team like them
making a play on him if he becomes a free agent.
Speaker 1 (01:23:33):
I don't hate it.
Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
Yeah, if Dallas waits too long, there's a team like
Green Bay, there's other teams Michael will look at and
just go and look, I gotta go get my bag
because in the NFL, nothing's guaranteed. You're one play away
from maybe never playing again. Definitely not playing for the
rest of the year. We see that all the time,
but it can it can go for years with some
injuries that you're getting football. So Dak would be the
(01:23:57):
one that would be the most apprehensive about paying is
because we already paid you.
Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
You're making forty million a year right now. You know,
there are some people who believe in the backup there.
I don't, but there's some talk and there's some people.
Speaker 5 (01:24:09):
Well when Dak was out, he you know, he went
this or his record was this is okay. Fine, if
that's how you feel, then find let that go in there.
Make that guy your starter, which we know probably won't happen.
He would be the guy I would be most apprehensive
bout playing. You're coming about Jordan Love where he's only
played kind of one year. I like exactly what Kaplan
said because it was one of my thoughts I thought
on my my TV show, VJ said what I said
(01:24:30):
when Trevor got his deal, and you can throw up
the record, you could throw up the last season of
the things that happen.
Speaker 2 (01:24:38):
But Brian, if.
Speaker 5 (01:24:39):
You believe he's your guy, you gotta get him down now.
Don't wait, because let's say Peterson doesn't survive this year
and gets fired. The next coach that comes in, he's
not gonna go, well, I can't work with this, this
Trevor Lawrence guy. You gotta let me know he's.
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
Gonna be the guy. And they are and at me
and say, hey, I'm the guy that can get this.
I'm the guy that.
Speaker 5 (01:25:01):
Can get what you want at a Trevor Lawrence. So
you got you might as well lock him in now.
So I kind of feel that way about Love and
about Tua. If you believe loves your guy, lock him in.
If the Dolphins believes too their guy, lock him in.
Dak's had a run with Dallas, and like you said,
it just hasn't. That game against Green Bay was just ugly.
Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:25:21):
That that's gonna leave a nasty taste for a guy
that may be asking for sixty million dollars a year
at the quarterback position. So for me, it would be Dak.
I would pay Love into a first.
Speaker 1 (01:25:30):
I'm gonna go Jordan Love here Ooh that's who i'd be.
Speaker 2 (01:25:35):
You're gonna play around with that? Okay?
Speaker 1 (01:25:37):
Yeah, I'd be most apprehensive about giving him huge cash
right now. And listen, let me be completely clear about this.
I'm not saying, oh, Jordan Love's fool's goal. This guy,
sure anything he had a mirage of a season, he
could be the real deal. I just don't have enough
information to feel strongly that he's that guy from that
(01:25:58):
the next five or ten years for the Packers, you know,
and when you're talking about giving him that type of money,
I just need more information. I'm not saying he can't
get it done. He might be a top guy. I
really don't know yet, but he could be a dude
that heads south. And all of a sudden you're looking
at it like, oh gosh, we just broke this dude off.
(01:26:19):
When he started, he started eighteen games, right like he
has eighteen starts so far in his career. So I'm
waiting after this season. If it costs me more money
in the long run, so be it. I would rather
instead of saving whatever it would be, you know, ten
maybe fifteen million dollars I could save now, like quote unquote, yeah,
(01:26:42):
that's true, as long as he keeps playing at this level.
And then it looks like a bargain if he doesn't
play at this level going forward, that he did thirty
two touchdown passes last season, and you just broke this
dude off, all of a sudden, your bargain sucks. It's
not a bargain anymore. All of a sudden, you are
hamstrung by this monstrous contract with this quarterback who's underperforming.
(01:27:05):
So I'm waiting after this season if it costs me
a little bit more money for more information. It's like
playing poker. You a poker guy veach year.
Speaker 2 (01:27:13):
Of course, I'm a poker guy.
Speaker 1 (01:27:15):
Every now and then you pay for information. Yeah, you're like,
I might not win this hand, but I'm gonna call
just so I can get a sense of how this
person thinks. And then you rewind the hand. Okay, he
didn't raise after the flop, he didn't raise after the turn. Okay,
I get a sense of how he thinks, how he ticks,
(01:27:37):
and you're gonna get paid in the long run if
you pay for some information. I think it can work
the same way with NFL quarterbacks. I just need more
information before I give Jordan Love huge money. We're talking
fifty five sixty dollars a year, right, I just need
more information before I give that type of deal. And
if it costs me a little bit more in the
(01:27:59):
long run, comfortable with paying for that information.
Speaker 2 (01:28:01):
Okay, So if you want to wait this year, that's fine.
Speaker 5 (01:28:04):
I'm not saying you gotta pay Love now like today,
this yeah, this summer. But I tell you this, first
of all, this division is gonna be really good. I
believe other than the Bears, I think you got two
to three. You got three teams here that can win
this thing. I think Minnesota has a huge bounce back year.
They lost their guy last year. I think they have
a huge bounce back year of coming up this season.
(01:28:24):
But once again, if you believe Jordan loves your guy,
if you believe it now at twenty six years old,
they can avoid this contract after twenty twenty five. And
it's easy to say, well, if it's gonna cost me
an extra ten probably fifteen million at that point, if
the owners is not gonna want to pay that, if
the people right in the check's not gonna pay that,
Now you're dragging it out. Now you're pissing your quarterback off.
(01:28:48):
You run that risk really quick. Sidebar on the whole
tour injury thing. You know what irks me about not
you personally that said, but just when I hear it
is because we don't hear that about Joe Burrow. If
Joe Burrows missed two half of seasons in the last
four years and nobody says, oh, well, you know Joe
Burrow's injury. Excuse me, he's had two lower extremity injuries.
(01:29:13):
Tua did what he was asked to do. Can you
start seventeen games for me?
Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (01:29:17):
Take Judo, You remember all the Joe. You're a Dolphin fan.
You read all the jokes and him taking Jude, but
it worked. He learned how to fall, he learned how
to get down, and Mike McDaniel said, you know what,
we might got to get the ball out of this
guy's head because our offensive line is not that great.
Something else people don't want to mention while he's taking
some of these hits because the line was so damn bad.
So we got to fix the line. Can't do that,
(01:29:38):
you know what? One two three, see it throw? One
two three pump fake see it throw? Oh, one two
get it out of there. One two pump fake step up,
Hit Tyreek down the field, hit Waddle down the field. So,
if we're gonna talk about Toa's injury concerns, Joe, Joe
Burrow and Justin Herbert just missed majority of this in
the past season.
Speaker 2 (01:29:57):
These are guys both making over fifty million million dollars.
So that's right.
Speaker 5 (01:30:01):
But with Jordan Love, like I said, if you believe
in them, that game is in their hands. Yes, and
air throw off of a defender's hands turn into an interception.
The second one one in his fall, his receiver needs
to catch the damn ball and it doesn't fall into
the hand of the safety. They're up and beating the
natural asses of the Samsons, go forty nine. They should
have won that game after going in and beaten Dallas.
(01:30:23):
You gotta get it done. Not this summer, but you
know they start out ten and three, ten and two,
you know something like that. Bro, you gotta start to
look and go, Okay, let's get this done sooner rather
than later. So it does it cost us and extra
fifteen million, that's gonna affect whether we got to play
Christian Watson down the line or we gotta pay this
guy down the line.
Speaker 2 (01:30:42):
Stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:43):
I think they're going to extend him this offseason, yes,
And I do not like that move. I don't. I
think that it's hopeful thinking. You know, like, can I
hear you and disagree with you at the same time,
you know what I mean? Like, yeah, I hear you
when you say, hey, if you believe in this guy,
then do it. I hear that, But I also disagree
(01:31:05):
with it because guess what the Packers might be wrong, right,
like how many draft picks. I really believe in this guy,
that's why we're making the pick. And they didn't pan out.
Even with seeing Jordan Love start eighteen games, you might
really believe in this dude and be like, this guy
is legit. I believe it and you could be wrong.
Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:31:26):
That's why I need some more information.
Speaker 5 (01:31:28):
You know what you're going through right now. You're going
through what I called a Daniel Jones syndrome. You are,
You're going through the day. And it happens because Daniel
Jones went up to Minnesota and won a road playoff game, right,
and he got rewarded with a forty million dollar contract
for fifteen touchdown passes.
Speaker 2 (01:31:47):
I killed it the minute that it came across the
waver wire. The minute it came across the sports I.
Speaker 5 (01:31:51):
Said, are you you're gonna pay him? Before you pay Saquon?
What ended up happening? Where sa Quan? Oh, that's right,
he's eating Jy Rose and Philly Cheese steaks. Now he's not.
He's not eating Holgies anymore. He's down there in Philadelphia.
You end up losing a guy and now they're they're
kind of stuck. Everybody's like, God, what are the giants
gonna do? Martin and I we said, we feel sorry
from elite neighbors. We feel for that guy because that's
(01:32:13):
where he is and that's who he's gotta he's gotta
go by one last thing name.
Speaker 2 (01:32:16):
If I could just throw at you, CJ.
Speaker 5 (01:32:18):
Stroud, they go win the NFC excuse me, AFC South
again and they get another playoff win.
Speaker 2 (01:32:24):
If you're CJ.
Speaker 5 (01:32:25):
Strouds people, do you start to go, hey, front office,
well hello.
Speaker 1 (01:32:28):
That's the beautiful thing from the Texans where it's it's
the next two seasons. You can't extend a guy after
until they played three years, so you could be awesome
in twenty twenty four, right, you're right, right, Yeah, you're right. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:32:43):
So so regardless of how he plays, it is what
it is.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
It is what it is. What are You're right, it's.
Speaker 1 (01:32:50):
The biggest bargain in sports.
Speaker 12 (01:32:52):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:32:52):
If you can hit on a rookie quarterback. That's why
man CJ. Stroud was. He was fantastic last season and
the Texans on you have to think about extending him
for the next two seasons. Like that's the thing, man,
I like to a lot, But when we start talking
about that type of money, it's like.
Speaker 5 (01:33:13):
What's your what's your number? I like, I like fifty million.
It ain't gotta be fifty five I do. I like four,
I like between forty eight and like fifty two million,
because you can't.
Speaker 1 (01:33:23):
But he doesn't, you know, speaking of my speaking to
the ear that works fifty million, what Trevor Lawrence, who
hasn't put up numbers close to mine? You gave him
fifty five? You want me at fifty? And listen, I
hear you with the Joe Burrow to a thing that's
a good point to be made where Joe Brow has
(01:33:44):
been nicked up a lot and he's missed a lot
of time, and he doesn't get that same like, oh
he's injury prone, except to it does. But the difference
is to his had head injuries and we're talking about
potential retirement you know with him that has been talked
about with Joe Burrow or Herbert or any of those
other guys. That's what's different about two of those head
(01:34:06):
injuries specifically, man that when we're talking fifty five million, right,
sixty ish million getting in that territory. Hell hell ooh,
I turned into Chris Berman. You know, I had so
much money. And last thing you mentioned, the Jordan Love thing.
(01:34:26):
Jordan Love was sensational against the Dallas Cowboys, six touchdown passes.
He was great. And then the next week against the
forty nine ers, they are right freaking there, They have
plenty of time left, right, they're near midfield, and what
does he do? He throws the ball late over the
middle of the field. One of the dumbest interceptions I've
(01:34:48):
ever seen in my life. One of the worst interceptions
in playoff history. And it's like, I'm not saying that
guy is a dud and he's not gonna be really
good going forward. He could be, but that's the same
guy who made that mistake. And we're talking about, Oh yeah,
give him the money. It's a bargain right now. How
do we know that? Like I think that Packer fans
(01:35:09):
or Packer's brass, they're hopeful as well, instead of just
banging the table, like I know this guy is the truth.
You want him to be the truth.
Speaker 5 (01:35:18):
You don't know that I think he is. I'm a
pick a side. I'm not gonna waff I'm not gonna
be on the fence. I think Jordan loves the goods.
I think Jordan loves the goods. You gotta keep his
weapons around him. It would be nice if his receivers
can stay on the field. They let Aaron Jones go
because you know, O the back. But they love the
kid out of Boston cause they love Dylan. They love
the kid out of Boston College. They got some other
young pieces there. I think the kid's the goods he
learned behind Aaron Rodgers. He's got the head on his shoulders.
(01:35:41):
He's got the arm talent. You know, he's got a
great offen to my head coach that could scheme things
fro him. I think Jordan loves the good I think
this offseason, you get the deal. He wins eleven twelve
games in the regular season, they go win a plaoff game.
Speaker 2 (01:35:52):
You have no choice whether you want to or not.
You've got to pay him.
Speaker 1 (01:35:56):
I need more information.
Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
I got you.
Speaker 1 (01:35:58):
If it's like, Okay, ask you this final thing. Sure
it's this offseason and it's major money. Yes or no
for Jordan.
Speaker 2 (01:36:07):
Love Gotta give me a number of baby, gotta get
at least get.
Speaker 1 (01:36:10):
Me an going rates around fifty five.
Speaker 2 (01:36:12):
Yes, yes, I go no, yeah, because I'm gonna have to.
Speaker 5 (01:36:16):
I'm of the age and remember when Matthew, when matt Ryan,
see this is it's next man up. It's just kind
of how it is. And that's what I always go with.
I always go it, next man up because this is
what you've been doing. So don't start low balling guys
because oh, he didn't this or didn't that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:30):
It just kind of is what it is. Pat Mahomes
is the best quarterback in the league.
Speaker 5 (01:36:33):
It's not even high. He's my only making forty five
a year. He's the best quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:36:36):
In the league. That's just not how it goes in
the NFL.
Speaker 1 (01:36:38):
But that's the question I ask myself, is if we're
talking about extending a quarterback, I ask myself, can this
guy be the guy when we're giving him huge money
and we have to skimp elsewhere? Right, we can't pay
are our top wide receiver like Tyreek Hill has to
leave the Chiefs. Is Mahome still the guy? You better
(01:37:01):
believe he is? Is Jordan Love the guy when we
have to start skimping because we're paying him so much money?
Speaker 6 (01:37:08):
Ye?
Speaker 2 (01:37:08):
Maybe I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:37:11):
Think we know that yet. I really don't. We got
a lot to do, yes, sir, we got some funny
stories coming up right around the corner this audio VJ.
You would think I made it up. You would think
that I, like, you know, did some AI type stuff
and made these voices say these things. No, it's the
real stuff. We'll throw it your way. Coming up next,
(01:37:31):
he's VJ. Husky. I'm Brian. No, keep it locked right
here on Fox Sports Radio. Oh our hair is down
right now. It just got real Fox Sports Radio. VJ. Husky,
I'm Brian know with you here, man. Shout out to
our girl Mary Mac. She's like, all right, all right, no,
your time, figure out something crazy over your slipknot. Yeah,
(01:37:53):
little slipknot action for you. A true story. I got
punched in the face by a girl at a slipknot show.
Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
What goodness? Who are you? Why would you tell that?
Speaker 3 (01:38:04):
Will you?
Speaker 2 (01:38:04):
Matthew Stafford's why are you telling stuff that just shouldn't
be what I thought? That would make you laugh?
Speaker 1 (01:38:10):
Rouh man, we gotta get to that.
Speaker 2 (01:38:13):
What a story that is?
Speaker 1 (01:38:14):
Who are you?
Speaker 2 (01:38:15):
Missus Stafford? Why are you saying things?
Speaker 1 (01:38:16):
I don't need to be sad? Wait?
Speaker 12 (01:38:18):
You were washing and she's like punched you.
Speaker 1 (01:38:20):
No, So here's the story. So I don't know why
everything's connecting to Fresno over here, but I was at
a Slipknot show in Fresno. And it wasn't even in
the moshpit. It was right up front. Like everybody at
a metal show pushes toward the front of the stage. Yeah,
that's just the way it is. And so the guy
in front of me, he was like one row ahead
(01:38:43):
of me. We're at the very front, and he got
mad because he thought I was pushing him in the back.
And he turns around and he's like, it's a concert.
I can't hear what he's saying, but he's obviously mad
at me, and he thinks like I'm pushing him, And
I'm like, bro, there are fifty teen rows of people
pushing me forward. This is the way it goes. Are
(01:39:04):
you mad because it's too loud? Also, this is a
metal show. This is how it is. And so he
is mad, and I just like kept my forearm in
front of him where he was trying to push me back,
and I'm like, bro, you're not pushing me anywhere.
Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
What do you do?
Speaker 1 (01:39:18):
And all of a sudden, I feel this little like
tap on my face.
Speaker 2 (01:39:22):
I'm like, what was that?
Speaker 1 (01:39:24):
And I glanced down and this fist is being retracted
from my face and I'm like, that girl just hit me.
She just punched me. It was probably your.
Speaker 2 (01:39:37):
Boyfriend probably liked you.
Speaker 5 (01:39:38):
You know what they say if they hit, if they
hit you, know what they say if they hit you.
Speaker 2 (01:39:44):
They like you.
Speaker 5 (01:39:45):
So she probably just liked you, bro, And her dude
was there and that was her way. You didn't pick
up on the bike. You didn't pick up on the
vibe you see. You were too into the slip otages
that was going on. I pick up on the vibes, Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:39:55):
Yeah, I didn't know what to do VJ for a second. Yeah,
your animal instinct is like get even. And then I'm
like immediately, I'm like, but I can't. And then and
I was just stuck. I'm like, what do I I
should have beaten him up. That's what I should have done.
You think you would have won?
Speaker 2 (01:40:15):
Honestly, do you think you would have won? Mary?
Speaker 1 (01:40:17):
Come on, Mary at a slipknot show. Like, here's the thing.
Anybody who's been in a fight, if you start the fight,
you're not even close to as irate as you are.
Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
If someone starts to fight.
Speaker 1 (01:40:33):
Someone hits you first. Oh my gosh, I could bench
press a thousand pounds. I'm convinced. If someone punches me first,
you know what I mean, Like that just anger hit
me first, I would have flipped them on stage, you
know what I mean. I would have done like we
got the Olympics coming on here, I would have hammer
thrown him, hammer threw him. I don't know, on stage,
(01:40:54):
you know, I.
Speaker 2 (01:40:59):
Would duck tell my first move.
Speaker 1 (01:41:02):
I didn't even know. I didn't even know there were
around Martin, you know, I was just standing there. This
guy was upset, he was getting pushed. I didn't even
know there were you know, he had people.
Speaker 5 (01:41:12):
All around the one time in my life someone punched
me first, like on a surprise, I like, I blocked out,
oh yeah, and I did not really talk. I beat
the living hell out to where three eight neighbors were
pulling me off, two girls I lived next door to
and their brother, and it was all I can just
remember her.
Speaker 2 (01:41:28):
Yo vvv cho v yo v v j B. Because
I I don't like I'm not I don't like to fight.
Speaker 5 (01:41:35):
I don't so when I go there, it's you've pushed
me as far as I can go, and I don't
know how to shut it off. That's why I like
to do That's why I do stand up, bro, That's
why I like to have fun and joke and clown.
Speaker 2 (01:41:46):
I don't only too much seriousness.
Speaker 1 (01:41:48):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:41:48):
Then you start mixing alcohol and and and and uh slip.
Speaker 1 (01:41:53):
Not in war.
Speaker 2 (01:41:54):
You get all that going br It's it's it's ugly man.
Speaker 5 (01:41:58):
It's like going to a DMX concert back in the
early Yeah, I've seen fights weg You go see dm
Matt rough Riders.
Speaker 2 (01:42:04):
We used to go see them.
Speaker 5 (01:42:05):
Bro, don't wear your good stuff, man, don't rock your
good they unless you sitting in the nosebleeds.
Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
I saw DMX in Albany, New York. And this was
after he was like big big. This was like a
small little like club slash bar, and he was still
he acted like there were seventy thousand people.
Speaker 5 (01:42:25):
Absolutely, absolutely he was great at that man. I told
I told, I tell people all the time. I've seen DMX,
I think two or three times in concert to watch
a man jump and bounce around from end to end
on stage and at some point takes his shirt off
and throws it to the crowd so the girls can
get it. Which is really funny because one time he said,
I better not see no dude, Papa want that shirt and.
Speaker 2 (01:42:44):
The crowd fell out. But to wrap every lyric word
for word, didn't hold the mic out to the fans.
That let the fans wrap their like out for an hour,
fifteen minutes, hour and a half. He was outstanding as
a live performer.
Speaker 1 (01:42:57):
He was man and I respect that too. There are
some are like, you know what, I can just go
out there and be like and call it a day,
you know, and get paid, and no, man, he put
everything into that.
Speaker 5 (01:43:09):
It was I see him metallicas so far, Dude, I
almost it was almost. It was almost life changing see
him Metallica live bro even in their even in their age.
Now they're forty years down the line, Brian, to see
those guys now, dude, to still hit the watching large
still slam and smack the drums, man and I and
watching those guys.
Speaker 2 (01:43:30):
Go lyric for lyric for all their songs. No overhead
music playing, just live band playing. It's it's a long start.
It's a loll start.
Speaker 4 (01:43:39):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:43:39):
You know what's funny? So sorry we're doing music story
time here, but it's all good. I like this. We'll
get to the funny stuff in a second. There's some
funny audio. We gotta throw your way. But so I
lived in Nashville for a couple of years and Steve Gorman,
who was the drummer of the Black Crows, I would
go in when he was on Fox Sports Radio and
I would sometimes fill in for Steven Gorman his cousin,
(01:44:03):
or I would fill in for Steve. But anyway, the
shows I would do with Steve, he would tell me
music stories off air all the time, and it was amazing.
I love these off air stories were great. But he
told me this story about Lars. Lars is one of
the most like poorly thought of drummers from other drummers
(01:44:26):
the history of drumming, you know what I mean. I
like Lars, but I'm not a drummer. So Steve, Steve's like,
freaking guy Lars, you know, and other drummers are like that.
So Steve told me the story where Lars is in
concert right Metallica is playing, He's doing his thing, and
Tommy Lee he goes like, there's this little like sort
(01:44:46):
of pit under the stage where you can still go
up there and kind of talk to the drummer. And
that's what Tommy Lee did during a song. He's like, hey, Lars,
Lars you're screwing it all up.
Speaker 3 (01:45:01):
God.
Speaker 5 (01:45:01):
Wow, I love stuff like that. Yeah, Travis Barker. Two,
there's another another drummer. Yeah, another great drummer. But Lars Lars.
To me, the comparison I used as far as people
disrespected him as a drummer, is the way people disrespect
Prince on the guitar.
Speaker 2 (01:45:18):
Wow, the way people disrespect well if you go look
at list.
Speaker 1 (01:45:21):
Is that a common thing?
Speaker 7 (01:45:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:45:23):
You go look at go look at the list.
Speaker 3 (01:45:24):
Dude.
Speaker 2 (01:45:25):
I'm a music lover. I go look at these lists.
Speaker 5 (01:45:26):
When people leave Prince off the top ten guitars, you know,
are you what?
Speaker 2 (01:45:33):
Are you serious?
Speaker 1 (01:45:34):
Like a lot of talent VJ. A lot of talent
for the top ten.
Speaker 5 (01:45:38):
Man, let me tell you something, bro, that is the
greatest guitars to ever walk.
Speaker 2 (01:45:42):
God's greener.
Speaker 1 (01:45:43):
Oh you're out of your free knowing.
Speaker 12 (01:45:44):
Okay, No, I can't stand with I'm a guitarist. I
can't stand with John Prince. Have you got He's great though,
he is phenomenal, But.
Speaker 5 (01:45:53):
You need to go back and watch and then go
go back and watch Prince play the guitar.
Speaker 2 (01:45:56):
Please, it's clean. Hey, it's clean. There's no slip. It's clean.
There's no slip up there, no for nope, for no harmony, melody.
He wrote it all. He wrote it.
Speaker 5 (01:46:08):
A lot of these other guitars didn't write that stuff
and got handed to let's talk sports, y'all go get.
Speaker 2 (01:46:14):
Y'all gonna get me hot and Bo.
Speaker 11 (01:46:16):
No way that you got onto a tangent about how
good Prince is, which I think you're right in an
effort to defend Lars al Ricks drumming, because Lars Lars
is one of the worst drummers in music.
Speaker 5 (01:46:30):
I love them, but I'm I'm comparing how people disrespect
and leave Lars sometimes out of the I don't I
don't agree that worst stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:46:38):
I don't know where that he's he's so bad.
Speaker 11 (01:46:41):
Lars is not a good drummer.
Speaker 2 (01:46:42):
But today at all, in the eighties and ninety are.
Speaker 11 (01:46:47):
You Lars is not good?
Speaker 1 (01:46:49):
Bo? Do you agree that Prince is top ten? Yes, guitari,
I think Prince number one. I think Prince's top ten
musicians period.
Speaker 2 (01:46:58):
I'll give you all time. Yeah one. And he on
the guitar. I mean the man would literally sit in
his studio.
Speaker 5 (01:47:04):
The stories he would sit in the studio and and
write a song and then compose it put the entire
so he would go do the.
Speaker 2 (01:47:10):
Piano, he would go do the symptizer. I'll give you
that one by himself. Music. You know how we like
you know how.
Speaker 11 (01:47:16):
We like to say like, oh, ex player is your
favorite quarterbacks favorite quarterback, Prince is your favorite musician's favorite musician.
Speaker 2 (01:47:22):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (01:47:23):
Yeah, but that's different musician versus guitarists.
Speaker 12 (01:47:26):
To go on, I mean a lot of guitarists are musicians,
a lot of them because you have to re notes
and like you have to know music theory.
Speaker 1 (01:47:34):
Yeah, but Mary we're talking about like Eddie van Halen
didn't sing like Prince did you know? Yeah, but that.
Speaker 12 (01:47:40):
But that's that's being that's like added on to like
being a musician. But you don't have to necessarily like
you have to low key be a musician to be
a guitarist.
Speaker 2 (01:47:48):
You can YouTube other great guitarists in the world.
Speaker 5 (01:47:51):
Who who would tell who looked at the camera and said, yeah,
Prince being left off? This are somebody being mentioned before?
Prince is just you would There are people, they're a
great one, the great ones.
Speaker 2 (01:48:00):
Say it about you. Oh okay, that's where I'm gonna go.
Speaker 6 (01:48:04):
With.
Speaker 5 (01:48:04):
It's like when Michael Jordan said something about a NBA player.
I'm probably gonna listen to Michael Jordan. Then then somebody
else that's trying.
Speaker 1 (01:48:11):
To tell me that, you know what, I'm gonna say
something that might make you hate me.
Speaker 2 (01:48:14):
Okay, I can never hate you. But no, nothing, my man.
Speaker 1 (01:48:18):
Don't you know you're Brian. But it's true. I'm gonna
say something here. He's a Satan Prince when it comes
to Carlos Santana, Jimmy Hendrix, Eddie van Halen's my guy.
Prince can't hold their jobs, not even freaking close on
(01:48:42):
the guitar.
Speaker 11 (01:48:43):
I'm looking at rolling Stones top two fifty from this
from a year ago twenty twenty three. Prince is at fourteen.
Speaker 1 (01:48:51):
Okay, you've got to be too high.
Speaker 11 (01:48:52):
You've got Jeff Beckett five, Jeff Beckett five, Eddie van Halen.
It for Jimmy Page at three, Chuck Berry at too,
and then Jimmy Hendricks at one.
Speaker 1 (01:49:03):
Jimmy's my guy.
Speaker 2 (01:49:03):
Jimmy is my guy too.
Speaker 5 (01:49:04):
I'll put, I'll put, but I Jimmy, Jimmy and Prince,
and they're both in my top three four like I
Jimmy Jimmy. You guys got and Chuck Barry, Chuck Barr
you can you can have up there too. That's a
guy that slipped my mind. I forgot about Chuck Beer.
You can have that. But Prince at fourteen, yeah.
Speaker 12 (01:49:18):
Okay, Prince should I think I think Prince should be
a little bitty.
Speaker 5 (01:49:22):
Okay, yeah yeah, And you know what, and Kobe's not
a top ten player of all time in the NBA two.
Speaker 1 (01:49:27):
I think Martin Weiss might be a better guitarist than
Prince myself.
Speaker 2 (01:49:31):
Yeah, you know, yeah, Okay.
Speaker 10 (01:49:33):
I just want to say I stand with Brian No
in terms of Jimmy Head.
Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
Like, Jimmy, you don't.
Speaker 3 (01:49:38):
Even listen to music.
Speaker 1 (01:49:39):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 10 (01:49:40):
At one point in life, I did, and all of
these songs are the oldest hell.
Speaker 1 (01:49:44):
So listen to music.
Speaker 10 (01:49:46):
On you talking about recently? I was raised on the
Jimmy Hendrix experience. You asked Greg Wise about that one
that in Parliament, delic which is pretty much all.
Speaker 1 (01:49:56):
You're not hearing anything you say.
Speaker 2 (01:49:57):
Man, we may Sunday night baseball.
Speaker 10 (01:50:01):
The Mets in the Cup, scoreless in the second in
are just wrapped up the second inning. Blue Jays infielder
or Elvis Martinez suspended eighty games for violating Major League
Baseball's Performance a nancing drug policy. He was just caught
up to the big leagues. Two days ago, Yankees acquired
infielder JD. Davis from the Athletics for a minor league prospect.
Tennessee beat Texas A and M in Game two of
the College Will Series four to one. Series now tied
(01:50:24):
one apiece. Winner takes all in Game three, which will
be on Monday. Also at the Stanley Cup Final Game
seven on Monday, protesters interrupted the eighteenth green at the
Travelers Championship after play resume. Tom Kim Forest a playoff,
but Scottie Scheffler ended up with the win. He clinched
his sixth tournament win so far this year. US men's
national team up to nil with al look at that
(01:50:45):
no just shot on goal to nil seventy eight minute.
In the seventy eighth minute. Christian Bruscilla's had a goal
in the third minute. In the WNBA, the Sky beat
the Fever eighty eight to eighty seven. Angel Reese with
twenty five points sixteen rebounds, ten and five of those
came in.
Speaker 3 (01:51:02):
The fourth quarter alone.
Speaker 10 (01:51:04):
As the Sky outscored the Fever twenty four to fifteen
in the final frame. Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with
twenty four points, Caitlyn Clark seventeen points and thirteen rebounds.
And I think that Jimmy Hendrix's rendition of the national
anthem should be the one.
Speaker 2 (01:51:18):
That we play everywhere.
Speaker 1 (01:51:20):
I like that. That's my last take.
Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
I hear DJ Brian back to you guys.
Speaker 1 (01:51:24):
Good stuff, man. We had that in the NBA Finals,
right VJ. We had somebody on the guitar playing the
national anthem.
Speaker 2 (01:51:31):
I DVR everything so fast forward through all that stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:51:34):
Yeah, it was alright.
Speaker 5 (01:51:35):
The only national anthems I listened to is National Hockey
League because I love the old Canada. I love the
Canadian national anthem, and I love the way they use
like baritone guys. The Edmonton Oilers, their guy that does
their national anthem is standing in the crowd among the.
Speaker 2 (01:51:49):
Fans, which I think is so dope.
Speaker 5 (01:51:52):
And then my New York Rangers have a award winning
baritone guy that comes out in his black tucks with
the with the range, yeah, with the Ranger scarfalling and
the way, oh say.
Speaker 2 (01:52:01):
Can you right?
Speaker 3 (01:52:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:52:03):
That stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:52:04):
Yeah, that's that's that's good stuff right there.
Speaker 5 (01:52:07):
I'm not sports dorky, but I'm sorry man I but
if it's and now the national anthem is you know
such and such award winning artists from you know, Costa Rica,
mister such and such, it's like, okay, I'll fast for you,
let's go, let's get to the game.
Speaker 1 (01:52:19):
I hate when the kids sing gosh, you're such a hate.
They're terrible, though, Mary, They're just it's just boring, you know,
it's like it's just cookie cutter, as basic as it
can be. I need some Marvin Gay flair on this anthem.
Speaker 5 (01:52:34):
Listen, I fill them on this Mary. But the cutest
one ever. Do you guys remember when Maurice Cheeks coach
was coaching Portland and helped the girl finished because she
got so I know that she got. She forgot and
Mo Cheeks went out there and put his arm around
her and.
Speaker 2 (01:52:52):
Helped her finish it.
Speaker 5 (01:52:53):
The way she lays her head up, gets him and
looks up and goes thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:52:57):
Listen, Yes, okay, you.
Speaker 5 (01:52:59):
Know light skinned the light skin black man were Okay,
we you know, stuff gets to us act straight.
Speaker 2 (01:53:04):
Okay, stuff gets also kind of proves Brian's point though.
I just agreed. It's it's it was, but that moment, though, moment.
Speaker 1 (01:53:13):
See what happens when you let the kids single profession.
Speaker 2 (01:53:18):
Do you guys remember Carl Carl Lewis, Carl Lewis, do
you remember how bad that one was?
Speaker 1 (01:53:24):
You guys like Fergie wasn't a thing like Freggie.
Speaker 2 (01:53:27):
I missed that one. Wouldn't do it for the I
think it was the Warriors. It was during the Yeah, oh.
Speaker 5 (01:53:33):
Yes, yes, laughing and yeah, watching on YouTube and it's
so bad.
Speaker 1 (01:53:41):
It was really, really bad. I'll take one thing back.
There was a kid that used to sing the anthem
for the Miami Heat playoff games and was amazing. Yeah,
it did an awesome job. Roseanne Barr was awesome too.
She was freaking I know, I know, I don't know
what she was going. We got a lot to do
(01:54:03):
here at VJ. We need to if there's time. We
got to get to missus Stafford, because you mentioned that.
I got to get to some audio here. Okay, all
hilarious stuff. I actually have three separate things to play
for you audio wise, so we'll go rapid fire style
before we get on out of here. Good times to
be had. He's VJ Husky. I'm Brian No. We're live
(01:54:25):
from the Tireck dot Com studios here on Fox Sports Radio.
It is Fox Sports Radio. He's VJ Husky. I'm Brian No.
Coming to you live from the tirec dot Com studios.
So a couple of funny things here to throw your way, VJ.
First thing is.
Speaker 2 (01:54:44):
Golf.
Speaker 1 (01:54:46):
There were a couple of golfers dropping f bombs during
action on Sunday. So this is John Rahm. He's on
the Live Tour and he was upset about a drone.
Now the funny thing is you'll hear the commentator is like,
oh man, he's been really calm today, you know. And
then he's like these effing drones. He hit a t
(01:55:09):
shot into the water. So listen to John Rahm just
going ballistic in the background, incredible right on my back swing.
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
Drones every time.
Speaker 1 (01:55:25):
My my thing backswing, this effing droves. Sorry I mess
it up. So this is the other one. This is
Terrell Hatton. So he's on the Live Tour as well.
And this is when you'll hear the commentator. I think
this is Flaherty. He's like, oh, he's been so calm today,
and then he's upset about the wind. The wind messes
up a long putt, and so you hear Hatton just
(01:55:48):
dropping f bombs because of the wind. Here you go.
Speaker 13 (01:55:50):
Yeah, he has been very calm, nothing, nothing waiting.
Speaker 1 (01:55:58):
Up until this point, up until this point, until this point.
Speaker 2 (01:56:06):
Yeah, that's that's the part right there. He's been so
calm today.
Speaker 1 (01:56:09):
It's so caught well so still now yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:56:11):
Up until this point.
Speaker 5 (01:56:13):
John Rahm Man, it's that that I remember Tiger at
one point once he was really like whooping everybody's ass
and that kind of had that you know, I kind
of had that championship ego going Tiger started.
Speaker 2 (01:56:25):
He was kind of the first guy man.
Speaker 5 (01:56:26):
That was like, you know, you can hear the F
bombs anybody that was taking a picture or if the
any type of flash or any type of noise, Tiger
was dropping those F bombs.
Speaker 3 (01:56:36):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:56:36):
But it's surprising here for Rom because Rom is normally
very you know, your classic Spaniard man, very malmannered Masters winner.
Speaker 2 (01:56:43):
Last year.
Speaker 5 (01:56:44):
I had a great golfer did a smart thing by
taking the Live Tour money like they all should be doing.
And in my opinion, both need to just come together.
Just need to merge and get that over with. But yeah, man, uh,
golfers now they're they're different. Bro, it's not It's not
Nicholson and foul though and Sam Sneid.
Speaker 2 (01:57:02):
It's not those guys anymore. You know what I'm saying.
It's a it's a different breed coming along. Man.
Speaker 5 (01:57:06):
I don't Brian, I don't mind it. It's sports, it's competition.
Is nothing wrong with it in my opinion, with enough
bomb every now and then.
Speaker 1 (01:57:14):
Well that's the funny thing. This is golf in a nutshell.
Like hearing this again, listen to Hatton like, f you Wind,
you know, like, listen to how irate he was.
Speaker 13 (01:57:24):
He has been very calm, nothing, nothing you waiting.
Speaker 8 (01:57:31):
Up until this point.
Speaker 1 (01:57:36):
He won. He won the tournament right like this was today.
He ended up winning that in Uh, the accident makes.
Speaker 2 (01:57:43):
So much better. The accent makes it so much really,
f you Wind?
Speaker 1 (01:57:48):
Yeah, yeah, this is the other thing we were talking about. Guitarists. Now,
we might have different lists as far as where Prince
ranks all time. I mean, I thought it was a
great guitarist. I can't go top five or top ten,
but I feel we have different lists but we can
agree on something. Okay, this is an olive branch VJ.
(01:58:14):
Bruce Springsteen. Ah, great front man, not a great soloist. Okay,
he cannot play solo guitar. Where would you? Guys, aren't Kirklebane.
He's not a solo guitarist. You know, he's not even
on the list. Hey, he didn't even make the list,
can't even be on there. But this is Bruce Springsteen.
This is at the Grammys years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:58:33):
VJ.
Speaker 1 (01:58:34):
Listen to him attempt to play lead guitar.
Speaker 2 (01:58:38):
Not not great? Oh God, sounds like me.
Speaker 1 (01:58:46):
That sounds like he messed up on guitar. Hero, Yeah
what it sounds like?
Speaker 2 (01:58:50):
That's that sounds like Wayne. Sounds like Wayne and Garth
trying to learn how to play it back. Remember he
kept going to the show, He kept going to the store.
Speaker 1 (01:59:00):
You are right, Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 5 (01:59:01):
Yeah, listen, yeah, listen, princess, princess my guy man, I
got him top five, like like I said, Hey, Hendrix
is my guy.
Speaker 2 (01:59:09):
I forgot about I forgot about what's the old school name?
Number two? Who was it? Chuck Berry?
Speaker 5 (01:59:15):
There's some guys, but hey, fourteen outside of the top ten,
stopping we.
Speaker 1 (01:59:20):
We're different on that real fast before we go, sure
your thoughts on missus Stafford. Okay, just give us the
cliffs snow jersion here what she dated someone to make
Matthew Stafford jealous?
Speaker 2 (01:59:31):
Back there, I got one word back, I got more
for you. Divorce, divorce.
Speaker 5 (01:59:36):
You come out and you talk about what you were
doing with some other dude when I'm a super Bowl
winning quarterback making forty fifty million dollars. You ain't had
to work a day in your life since I left Athens.
And this is this pillow talk stuff man with athletes
and stuff and girlfriends and all of this stuff. People
talking about how they mess with somebody's side. Check back
in the day and all this pillow talk stuff in sports.
(01:59:58):
Let's get rid of it. Please, Thank you. Hey, Maddie,
divorce baby, I got a lawyer for you. She had
a good ride, she made, she goes, she got enough money,
she had enough bags in heels and purses.
Speaker 1 (02:00:09):
I love this. See. I think you stuck the dismount
at the end. Like we try to have fun. I
like the slip knot fueled rant that you just unveiled. Right,
that was beautiful. Hats off
