Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening the Fox Sports Radio. No, let's go, stinking genius.
Oh boy, let's go. What's wrong are you? Okay? Well,
the happiest day of my life? What's wrong with you?
I've warned the guys. I don't want to warn you all.
This is the worst show we do all year. Why
is this the world widecause I won the Super Bowl
(00:21):
in the NCAA Championship all in one day. Thanks for
tuning in tonight. That's the whole show. Um, Oklahoma will
win it. You're gonna get what we didn't make it.
You're gonna get three hours of Arnie telling you how
Arizona is going to win the Big Dance and everyone sucks.
And I guess the Rams are trying to get Caleb Williams,
so they're getting rid of all their good players. So
(00:44):
just you know, kick your feet up with the usual
analysis we give you. It doesn't happen. We now have
the best corners in the league and the best wide
receivers in the league. Yeah, so I appreciate that. Am
I wrong on that? Um? No, you're right. You're absolutely
right already again, and I'm a year ahead of everybody else.
Like when I said Jacksonville is gonna be good. They
(01:05):
turned up to be good. Now the Dolphins are going
to go to the Super Bowl, and you're a crabby
because your team. Soon my teams are good, So there
you go. No, I mean I'm crabby because you people
engratulated me going congratulations on winning the Super Bowl. I'm like,
I know it feels great, and I'm gonna only three
hundred and thirty six more days for me to talk
(01:25):
about it. Well, at least you know there's something else
that you can sit around and pound your chest about
beyond Arizona winning the National Championship. But who see the
Arizona right? Um? But this happens every year. So I'm
just you know, I'm giving you the warning. Anytime you
think we might try to get into the first pick
in the draft, getting traded, or the World Baseball Classic
(01:48):
or some NBA, it's all gonna fall back to Arizona
is gonna win the National Championship. Have you seen my bracket?
You may now Jalen Ramsey is on his way to
my hand like I'm Charlie Brown, Like I never get
to kick the football, Like my team's never get to win.
My team's won in in um nineteen ninety seven. I
think Arizona. I think you had hair the last time
(02:10):
your team's won. Hey, goodness, it's been so long, it's
been a minute. We're broadcasting live tonight from the tirerac
dot Com studios. Tirerac dot com. We'll up you get
there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot com
the way tire buying should be. Now, we do have
a lot going on tonight, Yes, we really truly do.
(02:33):
I'm watching Lakers and Nicks. What you got some of
the World Baseball Classic on two? Yes, I got, I
got well, I got the Knicks game on now. With
nine minutes left in the game, my New York Knicks
up by two. So there's a big game for us,
big game for you guys. Also a big game for
the Lakers who are starting in these Lakers towards the
play out. As soon as the Knicks lose, that becomes
my Lakers is what's going to happen here. Um, But
(02:54):
it's been a it's been a fascinating day because a
sport we don't talk about regular early here on our show. Right,
I mean, don't get me wrong, we taught college basketball,
but this is a football NBA, Major League Baseball, and
mostly football kind of a show, Arnie. College basketball takes
center stage for one day and then obviously leading into
(03:16):
a great week of gambling. I guess is what's the
most important? Y'all can gamble on the game, so you
got that. No longer an excuse to miss work. Now
you can gamble. But I'm I think we got a
good I think we got a good bracket. I think
we've got a great field of sixty eight. I don't
think anyone should be too upset that they didn't get
in Oklahoma State, North Carolina. Win more games and you're
(03:36):
good to go. But I feel like of the one seeds,
we kind of knew what they were gonna be surprised.
Houston still got it. Thought maybe UCLA could jump up there,
but the Bruins loosing last night kind of took that
out of the equation. But I feel like we've got
a good bracket. I'm pumped for it. No, I I mean,
you know, I gotta tell you, Ever since we went
to sixty eight, it feels like we don't complain as
(03:57):
much as we used to. You know, when we used
to have a list of like seven teams that going,
how did they think Vitello mesagreement? How did you leave
them out? My goodness? And I know you get North Carolina, Clemson,
what Rutgers? Uh, I believe, I don't know after thirty
three games, and I think there was one team that
had a pretty good gripe. They had beat one team
that made the tournament three times. So but otherwise you're right.
(04:20):
It's it's a good feel like it. See some major
upsets and I don't even know if they're made dr
up sets. I was looking at the lines and you'd
be surprised. What you would think is like a mad
or up set. The lines only like four or five points.
You know. Well, and it's wild too because I feel
like all season long for gambling Twitter if you will,
(04:40):
and listen, Todd's coming up next hour. So we're gonna
have some fun and trying to figure out where you
can get maybe a little bit of an edge because
during the season, the college basketball odds Arnie, they don't
pop until literally like hours before the game, like late
Friday night, sometimes early Saturday morning. So you see some
of these odds for you know, next Thursday, next Friday games,
(05:04):
and they were there were some big numbers out there,
and I was kind of blown away, and there were
some smaller numbers. But you're right. Anymore in college basketball,
I don't feel like we're two blown away by many
of the upsets. You know, back in the back in
our day, Arnie en seven, that'd be an upset right
at eleven six, at twelve five. Now if a five
beats at twelve, you're almost surprised. It's like, WHOA, how
(05:27):
did that happen? You're seeing more thirteens beat fours two
Back in the day, I'd be shaking in my boots
right now. Since Arizona's playing Princeton, I'd be, oh, no,
not those guys. But they don't scare me at all.
And I'll quit my job if we lose the Princeton.
Why why do you do this to yourself? Because there's
always a first round upset that makes absolutely no sense.
(05:49):
We don't lose the IVY League, stop it, stop, Well,
I mean what happened last year? You lost to a
team that I think you would bet your job that
they wouldn't lose the Cougars. Yeah, I don't know about that. Yeah, No,
I'm pretty sure that I can go back and pull
clips from you saying I'll quit my job if we
lose to that team. What a conference are they even in?
(06:10):
And now they're in a better Now they're going to
be in the conference. If you're trying to get in
for your beloved Arizona Wildcat, well, we'll hopefully we'll go
to the SEC. We'll get to that later on. No,
but I want, Yeah, we don't lose too Ivy League teams.
If we don't, we don't lose the Princess. I watched
them play the last two days, so I'm not worried
at all. Okay, it doesn't store me at all. I
will say I am always fascinated, Like ninety nine point
(06:34):
nine percent of people that fill out brackets, I'm always
fascinated by trying to find the upsets I think everyone is.
And you'll pick a team you've never seen play before
and you're like, yes, give me Utah State because I
think a ten can be to seven. And you're like, oh, yeah,
what do you think of It's like, well, I haven't
seen him. It's just a gut feel. So I'm trying
(06:54):
to find my gut feels so far in this right now, Arnie,
I don't know. Man, I'm gonna take my time him.
I know you've already started bugging bow like eight hours
before the shows already in. But the boss already email
does I I got my picks in before the boss
even meal email does. To get the picks in, I feel,
I come on, now, why wouldn't I get mine in
(07:15):
right away? Um, I already know who's going to win it,
and I'm always up there in like the top three,
top four every year, so I don't know about that. Yeah,
I'm pretty much am again. I'm just warning you guys,
if you got a podcast you want to listen to,
maybe read a book tonight. This whole show is a
Arizona is winning the title, be how greats Arenie's picks are?
(07:38):
And then see now Miami's going to the super Bowl.
So that's pretty much what is it? Uh wash Rense
repeat on the program tonight. I'm gonna try. I'm really
gonna try, Arnie, But I just I feel like you're
kind of setting your waist here this evening. I don't
think I'm gonna win. First of all, do you not?
There's are a reason that you I should not have
that feeling about a number two seed in Arizona. And
(08:01):
what the Dolphins did? I mean you even knew when
that happened. You're like, good move, Yeah I did. He
was given about a third ROUNDE thinking. Here's the thing though,
let's let's go there. And by the way, can I
just say something. This is why and I'm being serious here,
this is why two is a more important quarterback than
a Lamar Jackson. You understand that now, because if you
(08:24):
have Lamar Jackson, you can't afford, um, what two of
those players that you have right now. You're not getting
a Jalen Ramsey. Um, you may have to get rid
of Xavier Howard or Tyreek Hill. You weren't going to
be able to sign him. So that's the difference when
you have a quarterback making twenty three million instead of
forty five million or something. Yeah, but he's got to
(08:46):
stay healthy, he's got to play right right right. Two
hasn't done that, right, I mean that's kind of important.
Every other bad knee or something like that. No, he's
got a bad brain. He's dome scrambled scarier to me
than the injury. He's fully healed from that. Okay, I
guess more than anything else, you're just gonna do this
(09:09):
every single Sunday night with the Dolphins going to the
super Bowl, which my advice you has always been, Yes,
just win your division. Why don't you win your division
and then we can go from there. Why don't you
celebrate these moves? And hey, I feel pretty good about it.
I think we're pretty good. Um, this is gonna be
a fun year. Immediately go super Bowl. We're going to
the super Bowl. I thought that was a give me
(09:30):
that way already win the division. I thought that we
already had clinchon. I was gonna ask Todd Furman if
they were even taking bets on that or we already
had clinched that division. Of I don't think that it's
over yet, but I think you could try to. Exactly,
But no, how can you not like a move whenever
(09:50):
you give up a third round pick and at least
what your second third string tied in to go get
the best corner in my opinion, and again, exactly you
get Jalen Ramsey. You put him there with Xavian Howard.
Not a not a bad combo to lock guys. Now,
So yeah, it's not. Yeah, you still learn the same
(10:12):
division as the Bills. So the Jets are probably gonna
be bringing in Aaron Rodgers, Okay, and that's a pretty
good team. So yeah. I mean, you can be as
arrogant as you want and as cocky as you want,
but every single time this team takes two steps forward,
they end up breaking your heart. So baby step it.
Maybe baby step it. Oh babies, that's too late. The
(10:33):
baby's stepping now. We you know, with the team that
we've gotten, by the way, we should be a top
two top three in the AFC to go to the
Super Bowl. So we'll we'll probably get a lot of
money coming in on this right away. Do you think
top two or three you think they'll get better odds
than than Buffalo. I think they'll be right there with Buffalo.
I think they'll probably be right there also for the
(10:55):
Division two. Well, you're the gambling king. I mean, don't
you find odds right now for the Super Bowling twenty
twenty four? Um, I don't know. I have to. Yeah,
they're they're out there, but I don't know if they've
really had much change. So with the with the pickup
of Jalen Ramsey, was that usually doesn't make that much
of a difference. Yeah, I was gonna say, because you
were a plus four thousand whenever the season ended. Yeah, yeah,
(11:19):
so you were behind the Chiefs, the Bills, the Bengals,
the Chargers, the Ravens, the Jaguars, the I'm just working
on AFC teams. That's ridiculous. You're the seventh pick in
the AFC. Oh by the way, the NFC. Uh, you're
basically the same odds as the Giants and the Saints.
So hey, look, congratulations. Yeah you guys got to the
(11:41):
level of the Giants. Maybe you can make the playoffs
this year. Yeah, you know what, I'll just go ahead,
win some money in and buy myself another car. When
that when I went into another Yeah, how much did
you win on the last bet you put on the dogs?
Oh yeah, that wasn't that didn't work out. That didn't
go so again, Um, Miami goes and gets Jalen ram
in the first I guess you could say kind of
(12:02):
big trade that we've seen so far as we get
close to that legally tampering period truly kicked off, which
is the dumbest thing the NFL has ever done. But
beyond that we may see some moves. Right. We're hearing
buzz that Matt Stafford could be on the block. There's
even some some buzz that Aaron Donald could be a
(12:22):
guither looking at a move. I mean, are we seeing
the Rams start the process, Arnie of tanking in twenty three?
You know? I thought they There was the rumor a
couple of days ago that they were going to go ahead,
that Stafford's being chopped around, And then there's Ram said no, no,
no no, and then somebody came out to doesn't lie
then Yard shopping them around. So I'm really not sure
what's going on there. Plus, I want you to explain
(12:42):
to me, Okay, what the hell is it? You could
obviously do this later on, but what the heck is
going on? You traded up to get the number one pick,
and then did you see the reports like from Pro
Football Talk, and there was another one or two reports
that said now they want to go ahead and Carolina
and trade back down to like number four. So does
(13:03):
that mean they're targeting Richardson? And why do you trade
up the number one just to go and trade down
the number four. That seems like you're overpaying, at least
on the surface, it seems like, so I'm really not
quite understanding that. Well, I'm not understanding it either because
I haven't seen that they're saying. They're saying that they
trade it up to one only to trade down to four. Yeah,
it was on Pro Football Talk. I brought this up.
(13:24):
Actually I did. I filled in yesterday morning, and I've
we read the article on the air, and then we
gave our thoughts on it, and you know, we're just like, jeezus,
I mean, why do you go ahead and move up
that far? Just unless Richardson's air guy and they don't
want to take him at number one and they know
they can get him at number four. That is the
only reason I'm thinking there, I'll find a free and
I'll send it to you. Yeah, send it to me,
(13:45):
because I cannot fathom that you would give up a
first and next year and one of your best receivers
and what a second next year, this year, two, whatever's
involved in it, and then say all right, let's trade
back down. I mean, what is this draft day? Did
someone watch Kevin Costner before? I mean, see, I'm serious,
(14:06):
He's like, where the hell would that even come from?
But you know what, I'll hear at Arnie. I'll listen
to you because I'm infatuated with any kind of draft
trade talks. So we'll get to the bottom what Carolina
is going to or try to do with the one pick. Overall,
we'll talk about the quarterbacks, we'll start previewing free agency,
and as you might imagine, you're gonna hear a lot
about Arnie's bracket tonight. So while you're at it, be

Sony and Plant coming to you live from the tire
rack dot com studios. Chris Perfett on the Wheels of Steel.
Both Bent did running the show to Sager's got an
update coming up in about ten minutes from now. All right,
let's um, let's pay off this tease you. You brought
(16:20):
up the story you talked about a lot yesterday. Um,
was is that the four hour version? Yeah? That was?
I was filding for Gargano. I was on with that
k fake Oh, Kevin figures, that's my guy. Did you
did you basically talk all the trash you could on
UCLA before the game? Or no? No, no, no, no,
we didn't. Hey, did you make it? Did you make
(16:40):
it to the end of the game? I mean, you're old, Mike,
I am. So did you have to fit in a
nap or anything during the day with that being so
late last night? It was it was tough last night
because the show was from five to nine am, so
you got to get up at like four am, right, um.
And the game didn't start until eleven thirty a night
out here. He's post time. So I was asleep, but
(17:02):
I would pop up and get up and check the
score ball put the game on my TV for like
a couple of minutes, and then I saw the ending,
and then I went back to sleep for another couple
of hours. But that was rough, Yeah it was. That
was a great game. Yeah, that was a great game
down the stretch. Now, I didn't realize how offensively awful
those two teams were going to be down this stretch.
(17:23):
I mean, the guy that hit the game winning shot
for Arizona was about one for sixteen. Um. But it's
it's fun and it gets me excited for the Big
Dance for both of those teams. Because I like UCLA's
draw and I really like Arizona's draw too. I think
you've got two teams that can make a run for
the twelve. Yeah, we got a really easy draw. Finally,
for once, after twenty years, we get an easy draw. Well,
(17:47):
I mean, listen, you've got a nice draw. I don't
think anything is easy when you get to the Big Dance,
but you do you, um, if you want to sell.
You're already celebrating the Final four, so I don't know
what I'm gonna do to stop you. That's I can't
even see anybody. We should win the first two games
by double digits. I yeah, I put us in the
final four. I'm a little worried about Charleston UM to
(18:08):
get to the final four, But other than that, I'm Okay,
so if if I'm judging and I'm not looking at
your bracket by the way, so I sent it to
you and I put it up. You sent it to
me sideways, so I was trying to figure out how
to readeways if you don't turn your phone around. No,
I don't think you know how to take pictures. But
(18:29):
um again, I'm not here to fight over it. You've
so you've got Charleston beating Alabama. Yes, that was one
of my upsets. I love Charleston. That's my team, all right.
Who's your favorite player on Charleston's Oh, John, I love
that guy, all right. So anyway, let's pay off this
tease you. You brought up this story from filling in
(18:49):
yesterday with Gargano, and there's there's an interesting mix of
like aggregation and what what what was really said? So
there was an article and leading up to this that
was written. I guess this is a Carolina Panthers beat reporter,
the basic son on Pro Football Talk, But I don't
know who were install. No, That's what I'm saying is
(19:11):
it's aggregated, so that means someone reported it somewhere. The
Then the dove climbing guy who hasn't found a report
that he doesn't like to create some sort of graphic
and make it look like his own. But Joseph Person,
who covers the Carolina Panthers, is who's credited with this,
saying the Panthers are open to trading down from the
(19:33):
first overall pick they just acquired if they have more
than one quarterback prospect they really like, they could trade
down to recoup some draft picks, which makes absolutely no
sense to me, seeing that you've already given up nine
and sixty one and a twenty four first rounder and
a twenty five second rounder. Oh and DJ Moore, I
(19:53):
understand that you're you might be in a position where
you want to get some draft capital back, but Arnie,
I don't think you do that with the number one pick.
Go get your guy, find your guy you like, and
draft him. Well, here, Christy, and you know you're the
draft expert. But the only reason I could feel that,
and I brought this up yesterday morning, was that perhaps
they were in love and it was a big swallow
(20:15):
of people jumping on the Richardson bandwagon. Maybe they were
one of them. And today we can get him at
number four, but we couldn't get him at what was it,
number nine? Is that what they had before the trade?
So the only way they can go up right now
is to go up to number one and maybe work backwards.
I don't know how much you're gonna get back from him,
but I think that's third guy is Richardson. So now
(20:35):
they figure we can get him at number four, which
means they would have to what trade with the Colts
are I believe? So I don't know if it's gonna happen,
but I'm curious to see what they're gonna get, you know,
for that number one pick, and what's eventually going to
cause them. Here's what I wouldn't do. And this is
just me, and obviously I just like to play draft
(20:56):
Guru on radio. I really put way too much war
into this, so you take it for what it's worn,
so you don't but believe this report. I get the
feeling I listen. I don't think dudes are out making
up stuff, right, um, So I don't know. I don't
think a beat reporter is just making up a story
like this, But I also I think it's the dumbest
(21:17):
thing I've ever heard in my life. I'm not even
kidding dude, I think it's ridiculous that you would trade
up to one to finally get in a position where
you can get the guy you want, and then you
want to start playing games. How do you know who
Houston's gonna take? How do you know the Raiders won't
move up to number three? And then by the time
(21:38):
you pick it four, Richardson, if he's who you want,
might be gone. Well. I don't know how Vegas knows,
but I immediately looked at the Vegas odds and c J.
Straud was minus three fifty. Now it's like he's minus
four hundred to be the number one overall pick. Yeah,
there was nobody else in the minus. Everybody else was
(21:58):
in the in the lost we I'm like, okay, dude,
he's just going to be the number one, picking that
Carolina's going to take him. Or if they ended up
trading and somebody was going to trade up to gain
CJ's strude. I don't know how they know that, but
the lines uh moved immediately. Chris, Yeah, I saw that,
and it was very I mean, there was some reportering
that was going on out there around CJ. Stroud and
(22:20):
their interest, but I don't know about you. I feel
like that about every other day we get a different
report about which quarterback is quarterback one, and it right
because and it ends up driving the conversation. It was,
you know, the week before the combine, some guy we've
never heard of said I've got Anthony Richardson is my
number one guy, and everyone lost their mind over it
(22:42):
for a couple of days. Then it became well Bryce Young,
and then Bryce Young weighed in and measured in and
everyone's like, oh, I don't know, and then they saw CJ.
Stroud throw and it's like, I think CJ. Stroud. I
feel like we're just pushing to the top of the
news cycle, Arnie, whomever has the most sillacious report or
on who is going to be the top quarterback? Right,
And you may be right, but none of that really
(23:04):
moved the numbers until the trade happened, and then CJ.
Stroud became the overwhelming favorite. It wasn't it wasn't even closed.
So I'm I'm still trying to figure out why that happened.
And you know, did they think Carolina was going to
take him or that somebody was actually eventually going to
trade up if Carolina wanted to trade out of that
number one picked to take CJ. Strout, Can I give
(23:25):
you a very unpopular take. Yeah, I don't think a
lot of the oh, here's the odds where this guy
might be drafted, or who might go here? I'm gonna
go out a limit tell you. I don't think those
are the most accurate things we've ever seen in our lives.
And I don't think there's a lot of work that
goes into them, to be honest. And we'll talk to
Todd about it coming up a little bit later on,
(23:47):
but they're very rarely officially out of Vegas, and already
I know you live and die by them, but I
feel like they're the types of things that are done
to try to generate a little conversation. Let me tell
you something. If you if you're one of the people
that don't think CJ's John's is gonna be the number
one pick, and if you're one of those people that
think that Carolata's really going to trade off that number one,
you might as well bet Bryce Young and get some
(24:08):
good odds. You can make some good money on who
the number one overall pick is gonna be. If you
don't believe, if you believe that. Yeah, well, I don't
think that there's much work that's put into it, and
I don't think there's a lot of money that's bet
on it. But if you've got a hunch, by all means,
go for it. I just want to see what they'll
be able to get if they want to move down.
To me, if they're gonna move down, that means they're
gonna get Richardson. I know you said that the Texans
(24:31):
um you know, who are they gonna take? But if
the Texans took Richardson, then they get what price showing
the fall in their lap at number four? So either
way they're already what No, it's not. No, it's not
because the Raiders could jump in front of you at three. Well,
that's the only thing you're risky, But Atlanta could jump
the only thing. You're gonna give up all that capital
(24:52):
to get to one, and then you're gonna take a
risk to move down to four? Would that burn you?
But again, if you want to get back, how much
is somebody willing to move up to number one? Now?
I'm curious to see if they're gonna don't make the trade.

All right, Steve Sager, got a lot going on tonight,
Fun night. Where are we starting, Steve? We'll start with
the World Baseball Classic on FS one because Mexico is
beating the USA and the top of the four three
to one. The Americans have a very potent batting lineup,
(25:35):
to say the least, but they are two for eleven
so far against Mexico starter Patrick Sandoval of the Angels.
The US starting pitcher was from the Padres, Nick Martinez.
He allowed a two run homer top of the first
to Joey Minesis of the Nats. It's now three to one,
and in fact, a runner on second in the top
of the fourth, Mexico has just doubled that. In Randy
Arose Arena with the RBI double four one Mexico over
(25:59):
the US in Arizona tonight, a Rosa Raina, remember defected
from Cuba, established residency in Mexico. Recently became a citizen
of Mexico. He was playing for Mexico and certainly not
for Cuba in this tournament. Cuba, by the way, this
morning advanced to the quarters, winning at Taiwan seven to one.
Japan will host its quarterfinal early Thursday against Italy, which
(26:21):
won seven to one against the Netherlands. The win the
former met Matt Harvey, and Japan is four and oh
in the tournament so far. Shoheotani had a three run
homer in the first inning of a seven one win
against Australia last night. Venezuela upset the co favorites Dominican Republic. Tonight,
Venezuela led nine one in the fifth inning and beat
Puerto Rico nine to six. Scottie Scheffler took the Players Championship.
(26:43):
William Byron won the NASCAR Race. The Rams agreed to
trade Pro Bowl defensive back Jalen Ramsey to the Dolphins, who,
in late night NBA action the Nixer now up won
twelve one oh eight over the Lakers just five seconds left.
Lakers Channel had said before the game, if the Lakers
win tonight, they move up to a three way tie
for seventh if they lose, there's gonna be a four
(27:05):
way tie for ninth. That's how bunch stop things are here.
X Laker Julius Randall with thirty three points for New York,
a team that is, by the way, missing Jalen Brunson again.
He was out for the game against the Clippers in
the same building yesterday. Brunson averages twenty four points a game,
but he's out this weekend with a sore foot. Philadelphia
won its fifth game in a row victories for New
(27:26):
Orleans and Cleveland. Brooklyn got to win at Denver one
twenty two, one twenty despite Nikole Yokich having a triple double.
And then there's the college hoops news. Alabama is the
number one overall seed for the NCAA Tournament. Bama won
the SEC title today and Alabama will open in Birmingham
on Thursday against a play in winner. The other one
seeds include defending champion Kansas, whose coach Bill Self got
(27:49):
out of the hospital today. Houston, which lost its conference
final today, is a one seed. It's star Marcus Sasser
did not play today due to a groin injury, produce
a one seed. It won the ten today, holding on
against Penn State sixty seven sixty five. UCLA as a
two seed will play in Sacramento two seed Arizona on
Thursdays in Sacramento against Princeton, which won the Ivy League Final.
(28:12):
North Carolina announced after selection Sunday's show that it will
not go to the ni T Tournament as it was
not picked for the NCAA's North Carolina went fifteen and thirteen.
After it's five and o start non conference tonight, we
find out the ni T top seeds are Clemson, Rutgers, Oregon,
and Oklahoma States, but the Cowboys will have to play
(28:35):
on the road in the first round. They decline to
host the opening game because of quote, a large amount
of commitments for our athletic staff this week. Oklahoma State
is the host school for NCUBLEA wrestling in Tulsa also
has workers due to be there to work that women's
basketball for OSU is going to be on the road
for the nc double as. Apparently the athletic department as
(28:57):
other teams on the road and quote wouldn't be able
to host it to our standard. So they say, if
we have a second round game, we'll put in a
bid to host that. But we're a top seed. We're
gonna play Round one on the road. If you saw
the selection show for the NCAA's by the way, when
Oklahoma State was not in the chair, said well, when
you look at their resume, they had eighteen opportunities in
(29:20):
one right, they only won six games. They went eight
and ten in conference. Bet they made a lot of mistakes.
On the selection show, they were like, what they call
him the Texas longhorns, Well, they are the Texas longhorns.
They called him like the frogs frog horns. There you go,
thank you, Steve. Yeah, the frog horns. It's like, what
(29:41):
are we dorog horn? Leghorn? That was my favorite looney too.
No thats no, not saying guy. They were talking about
a guy. Oh gosh, I saw college basketball. Twitter was
so mad. By the way, Foghorn. Leghorn did get an
appearance on our adjacent Smith Show during the week because
we figured that's the new accent David Carr is gonna
have because he's moving to the South. He's not gonna
sound like Elvis in Vegas anymore. He's on a different
(30:03):
team now. Derek's got to find that Brian Kelly exactly. Yeah,
get that get that twine to your voice a little bit. No,
Clark Kellogg talked about a guy on a team that
doesn't play for him. Oh he sound like Arnie and
his Pisa. You know. I don't know. But let's have
a conversation real quick about your bracket. Can we do
(30:24):
that real quick? Yeah? Go ahead, go ahead, everyone go
to Fox Sports radio dot com. Uh, do you already
have your bracket up? Is it the same as the
one you sent me? Yes, it's the same as the Yeah,
the one I have in front of me is the
same one I sent you. Okay, all right, I just
wanted to make sure because you um you have amongst
your non chalk teams that are moving on, you have
(30:47):
Charleston and Florida and Atlantic in the Sweet sixteen. Well,
actually onto the Elite eight for Charleston and Florida Atlantic. Yeah.
I love those two teams. I I Charleston was not
a big gunderdog. That's gonna be a real tough Look.
I understand it's gonna be a tough game, but I
think they pull off the upset against what San Diego State,
and then Virginia could very well lose the Furman and
(31:11):
that would stead up at Charleston Furman thing. So yeah,
I think Charleston favorable. I think they're gonna give Alabama
a tough game. I don't think they're gonna get to
play Alabama, but I would I would endorse picking them
to win over San Diego State because you always have
to have what twelve five? Gotta have a twelve five
in there somewhere. But I'm a little bit blown away
(31:32):
by your decision to move on with Florida Atlantic. What
h what is it about the Owls that you like,
Arenie that has them beating Memphis per Due? Oh in
a big matchup with O are you you have? Oh?
Are you beating Duke? Which I'm all about. I like,
Oh Roberts Well for just one, they got FID Atlantic.
First of all, I'm anti Purdue. I mean, I'm just
(31:54):
I'm just so anti Purdue. M I think they're gonna
be get beat. I think they'll be like one of
the first number one seeds on the first number one
seed to lose, So keep your eye on that. I
think it was a perfect situation. I think the FAU
Memphis game the winner that will probably go on in
beat Perdue. That's how ant I am on that. So
that's why I one a hand went with the upset. There.
(32:16):
Team USA is falling apart in front of our very eyes.
Right was seven to one right now Mexico. Yeah, Mexico
just hit a three run home run. So we're not
in a good spot, ladies and gents when it comes
to the World Baseball Classic. Right now, seven to one,
top of the fourth inning. So hey, you don't have
to worry about watching that. You can listen to us
and if he gets tight, yeah, you can tune it back. Yeah.
(32:39):
I just here's my thing is, I feel like I
at least need to know a little bit of something
about an underdog to move him along. You just are
mad at Perdue, so you're gonna have whomever is matched
up a kids to be. You don't care who it is.
I'm surprised you have him getting out of the first round.
On the other side, I love Ken State. I saw
them play a couple of times. I went back to
(32:59):
them last year when they lost in the championship in
their conference finals when they were supposed to make the tournament,
and then they had the way the whole year they
came up big. They've had a really good year, and
I like Drake also, Okay, so I got to see
them play a couple of times too. So I've watched
the Sheriff College basketball. Just just want you to have
the most accurate picks you could pass. I think the
(33:21):
VCU Saint Mary's game is like one of the best
first round matchups we have out there, along with like
Yukon and Iona, but they get overshadowed by some of
the other ones. So in the top half of the
Purdue bracket, you've got the one playing the nine, and
then the twelve thirteen in the other game, and then
you have the nine in the thirteen playing for a
(33:44):
spot in the elite eight. That is the only one.
I'm a little worried about. Louisiana against Tennessee. That's the um,
you know. And I was on Tennasive when I said,
I was like three weeks ago. I don't know if
you remember this, but I'm like, well, I watch out
for Tennessee. You might have been gone that week. I'm like,
watch out for Tennessee. I really liked them, and then
they like lost seven of their next ten after I
said that, So um, and there was just out of
(34:06):
the blue. There was no reason for me to even
pick a tendency or a college basketball game. But um yeah,
I got my doubts about them, and I'm curious to
see if Michigan State, who always picks U up during
tournament time, if it's gonna be another one of the
years like that, because they're not really that good and
they could easily lose to USC. Oh yeah, absolutely. I'm
just I'm still trying to come to grips with the
(34:27):
fact that you've You've got Florida Atlantic and I who
am I like who? That's just like eight nine match
up there. It's not like that big of a right.
But then to go beat one of the best teams
consistently in college basketball all season long, that might be
a little bit of spite involved in that one, aren'tie.
I'm just saying it sounds to me like somebody who's
lost some money on perdue before. That's just all I
(34:50):
gotta say or or understands produced postseason history. All right,
we see your tweets. We'll get to them next. Plus,
we got a lot to get you on this trade
for the top pick in the NFL Draft and free
agent predictions, all coming up on a busy Sunday Night
with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Arnian Plank
brought to you by Discover. At the end of your
first year, Discovered credit cards automatically double all the cash
(35:13):
back you've earned. That's right, everything you've earned doubled. Seriously
see terms and check it out yourself. A Discover dot
com slash match. Um, this is an interesting theory. Yeah,
russef rights. Russef is the goat rights. Maybe it's because
I'm high, but Arnie should host a twenty four hour
(35:36):
marathon a Fox Sports Radio once a year. I have
to agree with that. I think this is a perfect time.
And so much is going on. I mean, the Nicks
just won the World Baseball Classic the March bat as
Dolphins win the Super Bowl. I mean, jeez, what a
what a busy Sunday? This is gosh, A lot's going
on right. Um here's here, here's a couple others. By
(35:59):
the way, Twitter is the best way to help get
us off of the Dolphins winning the Super Bowl tonight.
Um at stink genius Swan, that's Arnie. I'm at Plank Show,
and everybody, while you're at it should follow us at
Fox Sports Radio. Easy money rights. Arnie's Dolphins will never
get him a ring lord knows his knicks. Never will
(36:20):
Kenny at least get a Final Four run with his
Wildcats or Catamounts. Wow, well, I don't see Vermont doing it.
This bad matchup going up against Mark kat And I
don't know why you said that about the Dolphins. Look,
I know it's been a long time, but you saw
the numbers that two will put up. Now he's got
the two best receivers in football, and he's got the
(36:41):
two best cornerbacks in football, and they're knocked one. They're
still looking to pick up some other moves. Also, you
feel confident like to put real money on your Dolphins
this year? Just continue to put the fake nony. I
was thinking about putting a thousand dollars on him. Well, yeah,
(37:03):
I get back thirty thou Yeah there you go. Sell
that one to your wife. How does that conversation go?
It's not gonna go well, same with me. Don't worry. Um,
I can feel you on that one. Here's one um
and I thought this was kind of interesting. Uh yah, Feeme, Right,
what's up, Barney? You gotta washed up? Jalen Ramsey is
it's super Bowl time. Wow washed up for a third
(37:27):
round pick, which shut up Corners. Well, yeah, the fourth
string Dina I forgot about him. Pete Rights, please ask
the bosses to fire Arnie for picking Florida Atlantic to
go to the Elite eight. Well, I mean, you're basically
putting your job on the line if Arizona loses to Princeton,
which probably isn't gonna happen, never gonna happen. Never. Um.
(37:50):
But Pete also follows up with it, I've never wanted
Princeton to win a basketball game more in my life
than right now. Is not happening. We don't lose the
Princeton's of the world. And um, I watched him play.
I mean, she's just slower than me. I mean there
was one guy on the team he looked older than me. Also,
I'm like, I could make this team. If I was
smart enough, I'd be able to go to the IVY League.
(38:12):
I want to see if you guys have ever even
played Princeton. That's that's the one I want to know.
If you remembery last time we played IVY League. You know,
let's see, oh, uh nineteen eighty five. Oh, that's like
in your prime. Arnie Arizona beat Princeton fifty four to
forty one. And now there you go. It was right
(38:33):
we were my first year, we were terrible too, so
but yeah, Arnie's Brackett is laughable. But I'm sure there's
people that had Saint Peter's moving on last year that
you laughed at. See, yeah, look at me? Which I had?
I had Saint Peter's. What in the u K? You did?
I think? I don't think you did. I remember, you
can't prove me wrong. I absolutely can pull up last
(38:56):
year's brackett and show you that you didn't have Saint Peter's.
You did finish though, near the top ten last I
always do, I always do. See this is I can't
even give him like credit, tell you the truth. It's
like I told I told my wife. I'm like, hey,
you look nice tonight. She goes, of course I do.
And I'm like, can't you just say thank you? What
is this world that we're in where it's like, hey man,
(39:18):
that's a good pick. Yeah, I know it's a good pick.
I picked, and I told you I'm the greatest ever.
Um Jason writes, what if the Arizona loses to Princeton
and stinking genius quits his job if there's become a
listener and an eligible for the prizes. I see what
he did, I see what he did here. He's playing checkers.
We're all playing Texas. Hold him. So, in other words,
(39:40):
you're gonna be willing to give up your job for
a Princeton win over Arizona. You're just putting yourself in
position on all these great prizes. Again, that's how confident
I am. I should give away the pink slip of
my car if it was, and just walk everywhere around here.
I don't even know if that's a thing anymore? Is it?
Pin changing page? Maybe I'm not in your drag racing world, Arnie.
(40:03):
I'm not there with the grease and the pink ladies.
All right, So our one of the books. I don't
know what we accomplished, except to let you know the
Dolphins are going to the Super Bowl and Arizona is
going to win the national championship. Our one of the
books taught for him and coming up an hour two
on Fox. Yes, we are broadcasting from the tirerac dot
Com studios. Tirerac dot Com will help you get there.
(40:26):
An unmatched selection fast free shipping free, road hazard protection
and over ten thousand recommended installers tirerac dot com the
way tire buying should be. Now it's one of the
best nights of the year. You have the brackets out
for the NCAA Tournament, which we'll get underway Tuesday night
for those of you on the East Coast Tomorrow night,
(40:49):
and Arnie, we're we're going through it. We got our
picks up at Fox Sports Radio dot com where you
guys can take part million dollar bracket Challenge. And then
we've got the legal ta bring periods starting tomorrow around
noon for the National Football League before the start of
the league year, which will be on what is that
Wednesday of this week. So to say that there's a
(41:10):
lot going on, including the number one pick of the
draft being traded, the United States being absolutely boat raced
right now in the World Baseball Classic seven to one
in the bottom of the fifth inning against Mexico, and
the Lakers just lost to the Knicks. I say, we've
got ourselves pretty busy night here tonight. Is it any
more news coming out of who the Raiders are going
(41:32):
to be looking at a quarterback or what's happening there?
No it's it's it's been I'm not even kidding, it's
just been speculation and BS reporting is what the draft seven?
They pick? Oh so they could, Yeah, they get themselves.
They're probably looking at the taking a draft in a quarterback. Then,
(41:52):
well they could. But now you you had a team
in Carolina that jumped ahead of you, so they were nine,
you were seven, and Carolina is going to get a
quarterback before you will at one. You know, Houston likely
going to take a quarterback at two. Indies in play
for a quarterback at four, and then who knows what
Seattle or Detroit might do. And I couldn't imagine a
(42:15):
Tennessee making a play to try to jump in front
of him. So you've got a chance, but you need
to feel things to fall your way. And Arnie, you
also have to be happy with maybe not getting the
guy you love right unless you want to trade up
if you're the Raiders, why would But if you want
if you really don't love any of the quarterbacks now
and you want to wait for Caleb Williams next year,
(42:35):
but there's don't guarantee you're gonna get that. Also though, yeah,
they're gonna back into a couple of wins. That's now
he's went into like the Broncos are usually terrible enough
where the Raiders beat him twice, so that'll keep us
out of the Caleb Williams Derby. But I don't know, Arnie.
It's been quiet every other day. I have a dude
that Lowie's he's seems to have some intel and he's
(42:57):
texting me at least five different names, and it's a
different name every day. Oh here in Jimmy g He's
the apple of their eye. The next day. Up, they're
gonna get Hindon Hooker, the next day up. Look. I
mean it's just it literally changes every single day. Today
they had an article on one of the stupid Raider
(43:17):
fan sites that said, could Teddy Bridgewater be an option
for the Raiders? Literally we've reached that point. The dumb
people people want to be miserable. I don't even want
him as a third string quarterback. Why would I want
him as a starter. It's kind of wild too, because
I know that no one thinks this way, but you
(43:38):
almost have to write where you look ahead and you're like, man,
Drake May, Caleb Williams could be a really good year
next year for drafting quarterbacks. But if you fall in
love with one of the guys, go get them. That's why,
that's why I dig what Carolina did I do? I
mean if you and I don't know if they've made
their decision. There's eight different reports right out they love
(43:59):
stra out. Oh, they're waiting to decide who they want.
Who cares they get to take their choice of the
four or five. I don't think there's a fifth guy
in the mix right now, but who knows? Right and
no one thought Baker Mayfield would be the first pick
in the draft at this time five years ago. It
might not have been the best called by the Browns,
but still, crazier things have happened. So I'm a fan
of this move, Arnie. If I'm Carolina, I probably use
(44:23):
it to draft Bryce Young. But then again, everyone's freaked
out because he was as short as we told you
he was gonna be. You mentioned the numbers moving on CJ.
Stroud right now, I don't. I just think it's gonna
be a fascinating couple of weeks of Pro Days and
leading up to the draft in late April. Well, if
you're the Raiders and you're not gonna go ahead and
be able to get Cable Williams. You may have to
(44:45):
trade up, especially with the number one pick maybe still
dangling out there. You have three quarterbacks and maybe you
want well. I think it's pretty evident that the Carolina
wants richards and so if you could somehow get Bright
Young or CJ. Strout, I think maybe you've got to
make the move. I what are you basing this Carolina
(45:05):
want of Anthony Richardson on? Oh that's why I feel
like they're going to trade Go to the story about
them trading down. Oh okay, okay, I was gonna say,
because I don't can't trade down. You're not gonna trade
the number one and then trade down the number four
and say, well we want Bright Sugar CJ. Strout when
we I think they're gonna be like the top two
or top three picks in the draft. So that kind
(45:26):
of defeats the purpose. I don't think we've ever seen
someone to trade up to number one and then trade
down again. I think we can also say that, like
there is a possibility that that story that they want
to maybe trade down again, it's just b S. Yeah,
I don't I don't think it's BS. I think you know,
if you you know, they can say that not trading down.
Though again, if if there's if you they want Richardson
(45:46):
at number four and they could recoup some of those
draft picks they gave away, I I think they would
go ahead and do it. I think they take that risk.
If somebody wants to jump up the number three, we'll
see what if you end up not getting any of
the guys that if you try to make them like that,
I mean you you act like everyone shows their hand
in this and they don't. I mean, just you have
(46:07):
no clue who likes whom or who might go where.
I'm not putting too much into this report. I'm I
didn't even plan on bringing it up tonight, and you've
spent out two radio shows on so I guess you're
all in all the big thing. Well, I mean obviously
with the trade and you know, we're like, what is
that possible? That they're possible? But have you ever heard
(46:27):
of it happening before? Outside that doesn't mean yeah, that
doesn't mean it won't happen, but you know, I mean
it seems credible. It seems like these reports are you know,
what would help a quarterback like Anthony Richardson, if you
were to trade up to the number one pick, then
trade down to get him a wide receiver like DJ
Moore the one they trade. They just traded to move
up to number one. It makes no sense. It's such
(46:48):
a dumb report. I have no reason why it's even
out there. Are we that board? It made no sense
to me. And again, I don't think dudes are just
out there making stuff up that are covering teams that
are true beating porters. Now the Internet gurus, yeah, probably
they'll throw some s off the wall and see if
it sticks. The quote that was out there, I'm not
saying it's it's BS that it wasn't like, it wasn't
(47:10):
said it's BS in the sense that I feel like
it's something every team says just to be ob two.
It's like, oh, if there's someone else there, we we
might trade down. We might and I might I might
get to date Shakira, right, Arny likes to say a supermodel.
I just just specifically Shakira. Yeah, I can't. I can't
(47:31):
blame me on that one. But yeah, I think you're
gonna get ten different people telling you ten different things.
And if you're gonna have the faith, and you made
that move up to one, and you watch draft Day
and you think that you're gonna be able to trade
five second round picks to get the second big in
the draft or something didn't go for it, which, by
the way, is the premise and the dumbest thing I've
ever heard in the history of not just movies, but
(47:54):
any kind of draft talk that Kevin Costner somehow got
to pick from the Jaguars by giving up four second
rounds picks. I mean, head blown. This isn't a movie, right,
this is real life. And I know that Carolina comes
across as desperate with this move, but I tip my
cap to it. Man, what have they not had? And
Carolinas since Cam Newton a quarterback that they can depend on,
(48:15):
build around and trust. It's not like free agents were
going there also, so they have to go and do something.
And maybe they're tired of these two Tier two and
Tier three time quarterbacks, say let's just go ahead and
get one through the draft. Will be able to keep
them for five years. Arnie and playing broadcasting live tonight
from the tire rack dot Com studios. We also want
to remind you about our million Dollar Bracket Challenge. Where
(48:36):
I think you're the first and only host who has
theirs up right now. No, that means I'm winning then,
right is that? Well? I mean without any games being
played yet. If you want to stake your claim there,
that's fine. But I think the funny thing we don't
seem to have. And you brought this up earlier, and
I thought it was a good point. Since the field
has expanded, Arnie, I don't feel like you have anyone
(48:57):
freaking out about anyone left out. Did Oklahoma stay get host? Maybe?
But Nevada had a better resume. They didn't play more
Tier one games, but they had more wins, so sucks.
But that's part of playing in the best basketball conference
in America right now. And that's the Big Twelve this
North Carolina have a leg to stand on with this. No,
(49:18):
they were terrible all season long. Rutgers, maybe Clemson. But
we're not sitting here pining away, Arnie for a bubble team.
And I don't think we have too many problems with
the way the one seeds or even the seating kind
of played out either, do we. Well. Another reason why
is also you know, back in the years years ago,
we would say, well, I can't believe this team got
(49:38):
didn't get in, and they took a mid major over
that team. Now it's like, okay, Clemson didn't get in,
Rutgers didn't get in, they took um, you know what,
Arizona State or Nevada or you know one of those teams.
And then you can say, Okay, no big deal. Always
stay you know it's it's apples to apples there, so
it's not that big of a deal. Then well I
(50:00):
will add it. Does I still get that same excitement?
And I think you're in this category of a lot
of people. You want to see a bunch of upsets,
but you don't want to see him advanced past the
second round. Yeah, I know you're picking them. But if
your bracket was perfect and we were sitting here doing
(50:21):
a show in two weeks and Florida Atlantic is playing
for a shot in the final four, or or College
or Charleston, you would complain about how there's no blue bloods.
You're aware of that, right, No, I understood that. But
if the everyone's going to be a George Mason this
year where they get to the final four or something
like that, this could be one of those years. I mean,
we always talk about how a mid major someday is
(50:41):
going to go ahead win the natural championship. You know,
this Charleston team's really good, but I don't know why.
For some reason, I have one of the channels on
my TV up here, got a couple of their games.
I mean, they're awesome. And Florida Atlantic is a damn
pretty good team also, and so its Ken State. I mean,
if there was ever a team that's going to go
sneaking to the final four from a mid major, could
(51:02):
totally be one of those teams. Yeah, I mean we haven't.
My gosh, when was the last time we had a
mid major when the championship? What? When? What ninety seven
when Arizona won it out of the Pac ten. I
mean we need to be giving these mid majors more
of an opportunity, ye right y, yeah, I mean, so
hopefully that takes place for Arizona going forward. But see,
(51:24):
I disagree with who would happened? I started to would happen?
I know, but what would happen like Indiana State, Remember
when they got to the finals of like Indiana State
or a team like that got to the finals. Nowadays,
you know you would sit here, Yeah, but complain of
Penn made it to the final four. Um, I believe
what was it that year? Was it that year or
(51:45):
one of those years right around then they made it
to the final four. Pen Yeah, from the IVY League. Yeah,
I don't know. I'm looking year by year final four
and they didn't make it to the final four. Well,
I'm in I'm back to ninety two and I haven't
seen pen on hereing you. I guess I could just
seven day. Yeah, go to like seventy nine or something like.
How about Pinn State made the Final four in nineteen
(52:06):
fifty four. There you go, nineteen seventy nine, Michigan State,
Indiana State to Paul and Pinn. You're really you're really
pulling back recent memory, going back to nineteen seventy nine.
Look at me with an IVY League team making the
final mister march Madness, man like Reggie Jackson was, mister October.
I'm mister march Madness. I laugh at you talk about
(52:29):
mid majors getting an opportunity, which literally is the last
thing that you want as a college basketball fan. Or
I don't act like I don't like the mid majors.
I pulled for the mid majors. Why aren't you talking
about I want to see them win some games. You
want to see him win one game and make your
bracket right, and then you want to see him lose
because you only want to watch blue bloods. Come on, man,
(52:51):
we've done this show together for a decade now. Yeah,
but the bluebods are all going. There's little North Carolina,
you know what I mean. There's some of these blueboods
that you're pulled for all these years are either not
in the tournament or average Kansas is in. Yeah, Dukes
choose you like a number one seed. Now you're like, hey,
you know, I think maybe they could lose in the
first round. No, you think maybe they can lose in
(53:13):
the first round. Now if you can tell them, I'm
the only one that thinks like Dukes could lose in
the first They're they're always there's eight billion people that
fill out brackets already. You're not going to be the
only one that you know what the line is on
that game by the one probably like four and a half. Yeah,
that's I think that's exactly what it is. It's like
that's a that's like almost a pickup game there when
(53:33):
you're taking a look at that. No, it's four and
a half. That's four and a half. Four and a
half is more than the pick up. Okay, why what gosh,
why don't I even argue with you guys, because we
bring facts into the conversation. Arnie, if you can name
o ru's best player, I will allow. I told you
already who John, I already told you that. All right, listen,
(53:56):
Todd Ferman's coming up here, and just what Todd Ferman?
Who you He'll I'm sure he'll be all over OREU
as well too. Who, by the way, to buy to
be fair for your oar, you pick who. I'm a
firm believer in. This is a team that did make
a run in the NCAA tournament a couple of years ago.
(54:16):
Yes they did, Yes they did. I mean you you
keep an eye on them. I firmly believe that they've
got a chance to keep it tight with Duke. I
just hate the matchup for him. Duke's got too much size.
Ore You doesn't have that. I got a mathematical equation
that I put together, um for March madness and the
brackets and all that, and has to do with the
lines and where the team finishes and you know the
(54:39):
matchups and stuff like that, and that's how I get
my winners. So I'm always in the top three in
the in the contest. Right. It's again like I said, um,
next week the show will be much more normal because
there'll be some picks that are missed. You hate when
I'm right dal you just you'll love when my team suck.
You have such a better time on the show when
all my teams suck you. It's like you're all giddy, like, hey,
(55:01):
your team's your team's sucking doesn't stop you from talking trash.
That's the funny thing. It doesn't stop. I mean, the
Dolphins sucked. They sucked for what they were there. They
were not good, and you're still talking about them like
they're gonna go to the super Bowl. So I don't
even know what they sucked because they made the bayoffs. Yeah,
I mean, come on, man, what is making the playoffs anymore?
(55:23):
In a seventeen game season without our quarterback seven teams hurt?
Did he start the playoff game? I think I started
the playoff game? All right, Well, listen, beyond all of
this madness tonight, we know that you want to make money,
so join Fox Sports Radio's a million dollars bracket challenge.

with US tonight. Oh, Todd, is there a big betting
market on the World Baseball Classic? Or people into pool
see like suddenly I am, and are we all losing
our backsides on Team USA right now? A little bit
(56:53):
more interest once you get out of pool play and
some of the players participating get to be a little
bit more familiar. But you look at some of these rosters.
Obviously a number of them has some star power, But
I don't think anybody anticipated Team USA as an overwhelming
favorite in today's matchup. With our neighbors to the south
going as poorly as it has to the bottom of
the six, Team USA close right around a one to
(57:14):
four favorite in this game, So they're gonna need some
heroics over the next couple innings to chip away at
the six rundep sit. All right, Todd, Obviously we got
a new team at the number one pick out there.
First of all, why did C. J. Strout jump up
to the overwhelmingly number one pick all right after that trade?
He was like plus three fifty or something like that. Yeah,
plus three fifty out to minus three fifty, So you said, yeah,
(57:37):
minus three fifty, I'm sorry. Yeah, massive swing in the odds.
He was the second favorite on the board behind Bryce Young.
Anthony Richardson had been that big mover that we had
talked about from one hundred to one down to five
to one, and I think a lot of people speculating
that he fits the mold of what Frank Wright could
be looking for in a franchise quarterback. But Caroline of
course coming out saying they're willing to move the pick
if somebody wants to overpay for that. So I don't
(58:00):
think anybody really knows exactly what direction Carolina wants to go.
Maybe it's a little bit of liar's poker as much
as anything else, But be very interesting to see how
those odds continue to move over the next five to
six weeks as we get a better indication of what
these teams are. After we were just talking about that,
everybody's like, this report is ridiculous. How would you trade
up the number one and then move down the number four?
(58:20):
You think that could be possible that they're going to
trade off that number one back or one. I mean,
I think if somebody comes in and offers you a
king's ransom for a team like Carolina, that's still going
to be rebuilding. It's not as though getting a quarterback
is going to suddenly change their fates. And if the
Houston Texans or the Indianapolis Colts somewhere along the process
falls in love and wants to overpay, then what's to
(58:41):
say they couldn't get a veteran in there at least
to hold down the fort for another year and then
go back at it next year. Or if they feel
that there's a very slim margin between three or four
potential quarterback prospects there, that they're willing to take the
bait and control their own destiny. Right now, a move
reminisc that Kevin Costner and Draft Day, which would be
hilarious because I still don't know how that worked, you know,
(59:04):
and Arnie bringing up Arnie bringing up the idea of, hey,
you know, these odds moved a lot. I mean, todd
how much of those odds that we see on where
a guy is going to get drafted are those Vegas odds,
are those offshore? How much work is truly put into it,
and how much is just knee jerky. The draft market
(59:25):
has continued to grow over the years, and a lot
of the odds that we'll talk about from now until
that first round of the draft late April, we can
reference regulated, legalized sports books that'll take halfway decent limits.
You're not obviously going to be able to move the
same kind of freight on a draft prop as you
would say a regular season NFL game, whether it be
side or total. But there's always a little bit of
(59:45):
smoke where there's fire, and it does take a decent
amount of money to move a player like Anthony Richardson
from one hundred to one down to five. And if
people want to try and get ahead of it, there's
so many different ways though, to go about building a portfolio.
When if you're a better hey, no better spot than
to be s on a CJ. Strout ticket at plus
three fifty a little bit Anthony Richardson at seventy five
to one and hope that Bryce Young number continues to
(01:00:06):
leak out, and regardless of who ends up going with
that top overall pick, you can still find a way
to profit. So you guys are given away free money,
right from what I understand. So if I put a
million dollars on the Dolphins to win the Super Bowl,
I'll get back thirty million. But it's already a now
that we got Jalen Ramsey, I don't understand why it's
even on the board anymore, Todd. You know, it's a
lot of confidence for a man who's not quite sure
(01:00:27):
who the starting quarterback will be when the Dolphins inevitably
get to the playoffs. So if you could tell me that,
there'd be a lot more optimism down there. But there
is no doubt Miami realizes their window is very narrow.
So you go out there and pay a pretty reasonable
price a third round pick and hunter along for Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey not quite the same player he was a couple
of years ago, but still definitely an upgrade over what
(01:00:48):
the Dolphins dealt with in the back end. And most
likely this means they'll end up cutting bait with Byron Jones,
a player who wasn't able to get on the field
at all last year to help out that beleaguered secondary.
Got paid a lot of money though just was ever
able to really help them out. All right, So, Todd,
beyond the draft, beyond the World Baseball Classic. It's in say,
tournament time, when you saw the brackets, anything really jump
(01:01:10):
out at you. I know, lines are all over the place,
but anything really catch your aisle on a matchup or
maybe a miss seating in your opinion, I think the
most compelling thing to see is how a lot of
us speculated that Kansas could be the number one overall
seed for the entire tournament. Instead, Kansas has arguably the
well not arguably does have the most difficult region of
any number one seed in the field. When you look
(01:01:32):
at the odds right now, there are four teams in
that Western region that all have prices of five to
one or shorter to come out of there. I mean
you look at UCLA at Kansas, Gonzaga, Yukon a true
murderers row, a TCU team Chris that I know you've
probably seen more than most of the country in the
Big twelve that can be very difficult out even without
Lambkin in their starting lineup. So Kansas done no favors
(01:01:53):
in this particular instance. Whereas you look at the rest
of the brackets, I mean, Alabama an overwhelming favor and
rightfully so. Arizona seems to be the biggest threat there
and we'll see if the pilotcasts are able to knock
off the Crimson Tide. But when you look at the
field from top to bottom. Clearly, the Big twelve and
the Big ten appeared to be the class as far
as the Committee was concerned, and the ACC will have
(01:02:14):
to do a little bit of damage to prove that
they've been underseated and undervalued. Although pretty interesting when you
look at some of these ACC teams already taking money
against them, you know, seventy two hours before a lot
of them will tip off. Todd, Yeah, you know, it's
all about the sleepers. It's all about the upsets. I
have Charleston winning. I got Firman over Virginia. I got
Fau winning. I got Fau going to the Elite eight
(01:02:36):
along with Charleston. I like Montana State to be Kansas State.
I like Drake, I like Ken State. That's what it's about.
I like VCU. Those are the teams. You got sleepers
out there? Or what time? I mean already, if you're
gonna pick every double digit seat, inevitably you're going to
get one of those correct. So I will give you
the benefit of the doubt for sure, coming in strong
with that type of approach. But when you look at
(01:02:57):
some of these teams, especially hailing from the small major
that haven't exactly had a step up and take on
some of the big boys. You want to look for
teams that are a little bit vulnerable, and a team
for me that that I think is apparently being given
a free pass not just out of their opening round game,
but deep into the tournament is Duke. They're gonna have
their hands full of Oral Roberts. I mean, this is
an Oral Roberts team that ran the table in the
(01:03:17):
Summit League. There's a level of pedigree with that particular program,
and it's John Schier, a young coach who goes from
the height of winning the ACC as the four seed
to now trying to ground his team and get them
to come back in primetime on Friday night. Don't be
surprised if Duke is in a one possession game late
in that contest and Oreu has a chance to pull
off the apple. Mike was just laughing at my crew
was just laughing at me about or Roberts. They were
(01:03:39):
just laughing. I mean, aren'tie. He had rattled off every
double digit favor between the thirteen and fifteen lines. So
I kind of understand where the crew's coming from in
this particular instant. Well, I mean, do you do you
know what City. O are you as in Aren'tie? It's
intul Come on, I know more, you know what the plank,
you know what the amazing part is here. For all
(01:04:00):
the teams that Arnie named, he won't even name the
team in his own backyard. Won't even pick the Catamounts
to round matchup. Apparently that's where he's a realist and
doesn't believe and the miracles that can take place along
the shores of Lake Champlain. I was afraid that Arizona
is going to be stuck playing Vermont in the first round,
but we pretty much gonna buy against Princeton, So that's
(01:04:21):
uh that. Yeah, hey, you never you never know again,
it's always tough to go from the heights of winning
conference tournaments to try and have to play a very
difficult team that wants to try and grind you out
and is going to work the shot clock from start
to finish. Although the total suggest that Arizona should be
able to move to basketball with a number sitting at
one fifty four, Yeah, look, it's a fellow IVY League
(01:04:42):
team we're going up against, but you know we'll get by. Hey,
the way things you're going with the back twelve, you
might end up in the IVY League. Listen, man, I
know your your time is fresh using you're busy guys,
so thank you so much and I can't wait to
see your picks and talk to you next week. Hey,
always a pleasure in the reality of it is, Chris. Look,
if they added Arizona the I the League, it would
only bring down the ratings throughout the corridor. Most people
(01:05:04):
that hail up in those prestigious institutions from Cambridge up
to Hanover, New Hampshire want no part of going to
the Harvard of two Sons. You're awesome, see you, Todd
always the pleasure boys, Yeah, I mean you act like
I have no idea. Who o are you is? I mean,
come on, AREN'TI expect a miracle? Baby? I would not
be surprised at all if they beat Duke. But since
you have twenty six other us a seven point spread.
(01:05:26):
By the way, there's a seven points that's up from
four and a half, then yeah, because I thought I
saw it in four and a half. I have one
in front of me that says it's seven. But I've
seen so many different lines on these games. Oh, and
they're gonna move all over the place. Okay, we went
a little along with Todd. It's already in plank on
a Fox well. I almost at Fox Football Center, but
we got football news. We'll get to in a bit,
but first de seger is in the house and get
(01:05:46):
a scraught up on everything going on. What's up, Steve.
This is a star studded lineup for the US in
this tournament, the World Baseball Classic, and they're three for
twenty one at the plate against Mexico, top of the
seventh Mexico seven one in the lead, two home runs
from Joey Minesis of the Nationals, coming off a good
rookie year. The game's on FS one, and tomorrow night
(01:06:07):
US against Canadas on FS one, ten pm Eastern Time,
also in Arizona. Canada was a winner over Great Britain
today eighteen to eight, the game shortened to seven innings
by the mercy rule. Japan four and Ozo in this tournament.
Shohe Otani hit a three run homer first inning today
seven one. The win over Australia Venezuela Tonight in Miami
led nine one in the fifth inning and defeated Puerto
(01:06:28):
Rico nine to six. Foxes televising the WBC this month.
The final will be on FS one from Miami March twenty. First,
the NASCAR race was in Phoenix today. William Byron the winner.
Scottie Scheffler took the players Championship in Florida by five strokes,
and the Rams did agree to trade Pro Bowl defensive
back Jalen Ramsey to the Dolphins. In college hoops, Alabama's
(01:06:50):
the number one overall seed for the NCAA Tournament. Pitt
is in the first four Arizona States. In Wednesday, nights
play in North Carolina announced it will not go to
the ni T Tournament. It was not selected for the
NCAA's Today. North Carolina went fifteen and thirteen after its
five and oh start in the non conference. It will
be Florida against Central Florida in an n T matchup
(01:07:10):
this week, and Washington against Eastern Washington. The ni T
top seeds are Oklahoma State, which, as we mentioned last hour,
will have to play its first rounder on the road.
Oregon is an ni T top seed along with Rutgers
and Clemson. Villanova plays at Liberty in a first rounder,
Colorado against Seaton Hall, and Michigan against Toledo. This week.
(01:07:31):
The nit Final four is in Las Vegas, not New York.
The New York Knicks won the late game in LA,
beating the Lakers tonight one twelve to one O eight
Julius Randall thirty three points. Philadelphia won its fifth straight game,
downing Washington one twelve ninety three DUELMB thirty four points.
Brooklyn got a win at Denver one twenty two to one.
Twenty Nuggets record now forty six and twenty two. Nicola
(01:07:55):
Yokich with a triple double, but in defeat. Taking a
look at the NBA standings, yes, Denver is likely the
one seed, five game lead over Sacramento and Memphis in
the Western Conference. The Lakers with this loss thirty three
and thirty five, they're at the moment losing a tiebreaker
for the tenth and final play in spot. There is
(01:08:16):
a four way tie for the nine and ten spots
currently Utah in Oklahoma City at the moment. In Lakers
and New Orleans at the moment out, I believe Lakers
are at New Orleans in a couple of nights, So
very bunched up as we head towards the end of
the season. In April back to you never thought we'd
be in a position where the Lakers would have Anthony
Davis and I know Lebron James is hurt, but as
(01:08:38):
someone who might fancy themself a bit of a Lakers fan,
never thought we'd be in that position with that dream
pairing that won a title and having to beg and
plead to try to get into the damn playoffs. Get
to the five mark for crying out lest without Lebron too. Yeah, yeah,
that's just terrible. All right, thanks Steve. Hey. We're brought
to you in part by discover at the end of
(01:08:59):
your steer discovered credit cards automatically double all the cash
back you've earned. That's right, everything you've earned double. Seriously
see items and check it out for yourself. I discover
dot com slash match. Are you an Oscars guy? Do
you you care about that? Or do not? Really? Do
you know? What I come to realize is I don't
watch movies anymore. Right so when, for instance, all the
(01:09:24):
movies that are up for Best Movie tonight, I haven't
seen them. I've never even heard of him. As a
matter of fact, I didn't even know Arnie was on tonight,
And the only thing I've seen so far about the
Oscars is apparently Lady Gaga was pretty good and Hugh
Grant had some sort of I didn't even know he
was still a thing, but he was miserable in his
(01:09:46):
pre Oscars interview. That's all I've seen on Twitter so far.
I did see recently, just I mean, come down. In
the last minute or so, they screwed up something pretty
bad in my opinion. That looks like and sort of
but out. You know how they do in memorial of
the people that have passed away. That's right, the favorite
parts they left out. And he who is up for
(01:10:09):
one of the awards in this year's Oscar's pretty significant omission.
They left off, um, Gilbert Godfried? How could leave out Gilbert?
And they left off this? Really, I'm Cindy Williams from
la Vernon Shirley. I mean that was acting at its finest. No,
(01:10:31):
but I mean it's an iconic show. No, I'm not
being a smart ass. I mean, I just I love
the show when I was growing up. Come on, aren't
and I guess Leslie Jordan's So they left a lot
of people out. I'm I'm just shocked, really, to be
honest with you, But it's usually they're you know, you
just run it at the end and you know a
lot of people. I know a lot of people have
passed away, but geez, I mean, especially who's up for
(01:10:56):
an award, So I just don't understand what they also
get about the knowledge one of the actresses who was
up for an award last year and that passed away
this last year. So yeah, not a good look, aren'tie
from the Oscars Immemorium people, Because nine out of ten
times they flash up someone that's like a sound director
and you hear the people are like, sorry, he's gone.
(01:11:16):
You just don't know who they are because they're not
in front of a camera. But yeah, weird. But are
you an Oscars guy? No? Not really. My mom used
to love the Oscars, I you know, because it'd go
on so early on the West Coast and she'd sit
down and she'd be getting into the whole thing. She
loved it. We uh, we had a reason to talk
about it last year, right, wasn't that when Chris Rock
(01:11:38):
got smacked? Ye? And so now all we've done is
watched eight different shows and take different stand ups about it.
Did they change it? There's no longer red carpet it
was like Champagne. First time in like twenty five years
or something was that. Oh dude, you're asking. I mean, listen,
I'm not gonna lie to you. I was all over
bracket releases. I was doing really hudge and a women's show.
(01:11:58):
I couldn't care less. And I know, listen, one of
a couple of my best friends they have Oscar polls.
I don't. I don't even know. I haven't seen any
of these movies. The last the last movie I watched
was beer League Who, which is great. By the way,
they should be up for an Oscar Who Ralph Mancio
(01:12:19):
who won Best Picture Lead. I know you're really going
back there. I don't see movies like that. It's not
to me that, like the best picture I've ever seen
in Animal House? Are you are you telling me that
you didn't see Top Gun? I stopped gun up from movies? Yeah,
it was the best picture. Oh there, I can't actually
(01:12:39):
seen a movie up for Best Picture. We fought about
this plank, Remember I told you I gave it a
C plus. Yeah you're wrong, Yeah, you would do that.
There's something wrong with you. Guys, like you've followed me
last week about Lamar Jackson. I told you I wasn't
a big Top Gun fan. They, you know, just just
kind of dragged on. They really can get into some
(01:13:01):
of the stuff I wanted them to do, and they
didn't see up. They didn't dive deep enough into the
top Gun lore for you. I'm really happy right now.
I didn't even know it was up for Best Movie.
I've seen one of the movies up for best movie.
I've never heard of everything everywhere, every all at once whatever.
That's really good though, the Banshees of the Injin, that's
(01:13:22):
insanely good. Yeah, no, no clue, no clue whatsoever, triangle
of sadness, welcome to my life. Couldn't see Elvius because
I couldn't take the dude's voice. Tal. I mean, I've
never I haven't even heard of half of these right now.
But I can sit here pound the table and say,
my god, I've seen Top Gun. I think it's the
first time in years I've seen a movie up for
(01:13:44):
Best Movie. I'm so happy right now. All right, listen,
we got a break. We're not gonna get you bogged
down a movie talk, obviously, but we are going to
get caught up with the saga plus all of your
tweets and a ton of bracket talk right around the
corner on Fox Sports Radio. All right, Tony in Plank
brought you by Discover at the end of your first year.
Discovered credit cards automatically double all the cash back you've earned.
(01:14:07):
That's right, everything you've earned doubled. Seriously see terms and
check it out for yourself. A Discover dot com slash match.
What's up, Steve de Seger, Well, we actually have a
USA homer, so they're only losing seven to two now
going to the eighth inning in Aris, Mexico is leading.
They got two early home runs from a guy who
had a good rookie year with the Nationals last year,
(01:14:29):
Joey Menesis. He had a two runshot in the first
against US starting pitcher Nick Martinez of the Padres. He
had a three run homer in the fourth for the
seven one lead off Brady Singer of Kansas City. Will
Smith at Dodger catcher is the US catcher tonight. He
has just hit the solo homer. And by the way,
the other Dodger catcher, Austin Barnes, is the Mexico catcher
in this game. So the Americans will play in Arizona
(01:14:52):
again tomorrow night again on FS one again at ten
pm Eastern time. That'll be against Canada, a team that
does have Dodger first baseman Freddie Freeman. He's playing for
Canada again to honor his Canadian parents, including his late mother.
The Canadians exercise the mercy rule in this tournament. Today
a game shortened a seven innings because they were up ten.
Final score was eighteen eight over Great Britain. US beat
(01:15:14):
the Brits last night, coming back to win this game.
We're coming back, Radio US. Frankly, the hitting could have
been better, tons of guys left on base last night
and the opener, but it was Great Britain as the
baseball opponent, so yeah, it was a US or it
looked like the locally the La Rams jersey that are
(01:15:35):
kind of the bone color before the game. Rams jerseys
are sometimes called like, you know, what is your exercise
material from the prison you just got out of? What?
This is not a real anyway for a Great Britain.
By the way, do you know it's on the roster
is Dodger oulfielder Trace Thompson, who had a homer and
the opener last night playing for Britain since his dad
(01:15:56):
X NBA player Michael Thompson is from the Bahamas. Venice
Puela with two wins in two nights to start their
visit to Miami. They led nine one in the fifth
inning tonight and beat Puerto Rico nine to six. Plenty
of MLB players on those two teams. Catcher All Star
Salvador Perez four for four for Venezuela five RBIs this evening,
(01:16:16):
and Venezuela beat the co favorites Dominican Republic last night.
The other co favorite for this tournament Japan, which show Heeotani.
So far, he is six for twelve at the plate.
He's a monster with seven walks eight RBIs so far
as Japan as four and oh they won this morning
our time. As Otani hit a three run homer in
the Tokyo first inning. I think this was his first homer.
(01:16:39):
It went about four hundred and fifty feet plays it
absolutely did seven won the final over Australia. Those crowds
have been great. The crowds at Taiwan for Taiwan games phenomenal,
I mean really phenomenal, and it's a really Asian thing anyway.
At baseball over the air over the years to have
organized cheering, you know, not so much the that Western
(01:17:00):
idea of the individual, but it's great to see. And man,
are they loud. And it doesn't matter if there's a
you know, a pitching change or a visit to the mound,
there at least as loud. And then when Taiwan loaded
the bases in a game this weekend, it hit a
grand slam. If the place had a roof, it would
have been blown off. It's been great to see. Unfortunately
the team hasn't been so great. Taiwan lost at home
seven one to Cuba today, so Cuba advances to the quarterfinals.
(01:17:24):
South Korea got to win seven three over Czech Republic,
and Israel scored three runs bottom of the eighth today
to beat Nicaragua three one, and they beat reliever from
the Yankees, Jonathan Lowizega Japan at four and oh, we'll
be hosting its quarterfinal early Thursday against Italy, managed by
Mike Piazza. Ladies and gentlemen. Italy beat the Netherlands seven
(01:17:46):
to one today and the winning pitcher was Matt Harvey,
formerly of the Mets. Right as far as the pitching,
that the US doesn't have. Oh my gosh, they just
gave up another run. Randy and Rosarina with an RBI
double again, not the first time he did that early
in tonight's game. Randy Arosaaina is of course the Cuban
defector who start in the playoffs for Tampa Bay. Got
(01:18:08):
him to the World Series against the Dodgers in recent years,
but as a defector, he's certainly not playing for Cuba
in this tournament. He established residency in Mexico and has
become a citizen of Mexico. There are connections like that,
But I was just going to mention the starting pitching
that the US doesn't have, or the bullpen apparently either.
But the japan starting pitching is just phenomenal. The four starters,
(01:18:31):
the four wins they've gotten. They began with Otani as
a pitcher and hitting of course in Game one, and
then you darvishing game number two, and then they had
this twenty one year old throwing one hundred two miles
an hour in Game three, and then they won again
with another guy in the Game four. So I'm just
assuming they'll be winning Thursday in their quarterfinal and then
come to Miami for the Semis. Let's just call that already. Venezuela.
(01:18:54):
By the way, with these two impressive wins this weekend,
they have Ronald Acuna and Jose L. Tuve and veteran
mcguil Cabrera. There are nearly seventy MLB All Stars in
this tournament. Dominican Republic was the twenty thirteen champ. US
won the last WBC tournament. It was twenty seventeen. Because
of COVID, we didn't have one a couple of years ago.
This is the fifth edition of the World Baseball Classic.
(01:19:15):
It goes through March twenty first in Miami. Can't tell
if I love the dudes behind home plate in the
OU Mexico USA Mexico game or if they're driving me crazy.
I think yeah, eight to two, the US trails in
the top. You just said two seconds ago that was
the kiss of Das Chris. That was it, right there.
(01:19:37):
Make up your mind, all right, your tweets to kick
off hour three plus Little Buyers Sellers back in the
off season here on Fox Sports Radio. No, it's ugly,
it's a blowout. Make it stop, Make it stop. Top
of the eighth, ten two Mexico. Just run rule US
hit it, two run home run, ended ball game. Don't
(01:20:00):
we get the bat in the bottom of the eighth though, No,
dang it, sure we'll score a run to continue it.
I don't even who who is pitching for us right now?
And why is he still in the game? This is terrible. Well, anyway, Ernie,
I don't think your prediction. Yes it Well, we come
to you alive every single hour here on Fox Sports
(01:20:21):
Radio from the tire rack dot Com studios. Tirerac dot
com will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand
recommended installers. Tirerac dot com the way tire by should be.
You know, I just wann't jump in here and say
something goo. Get the difference between college football and college basketball. Um,
(01:20:42):
when Alabama's number one in college football, we talk about
them every week in Alabama this and even if they
were like number seven, are they gonna make it up
to number four? They're gonna get in the playoffs? Alabama?
Nick Saban, Nick Saban, Alabama, YadA, YadA, YadA. Even when
Alabama is now number one in basketball, though not nearly
as much buzz. First of all, you go out of Alabama.
(01:21:02):
You I mean, you've got nothing but winning there. But
when your team is number one in basketball, you don't
get a tenth of the buzz like your team is
number one in football. You barely talk about college basketball
as it is except for this specific time of year.
So that's not surprising at all, whereas college football is
the second most popular support in But you would think
like people to album, Hey, number one in football, number
(01:21:24):
one in basketball, and you get more of those out there.
You're not even getting any of that. They don't care.
You know, well, they weren't number one in football and
number two. You know what, I'm what would you rather
your team win a championship in football or basketball? This
is a this is a very easy answer. If you
aren't anyone close to right, it's football. This is why
(01:21:45):
you'll never be in the secret because you had to
stop and think about what's more important? Football or basketball.
If you're in the SEC, i'd say football. Right. But
now that you're getting what were you guys getting up?
The American twelve was done, but you didn't want to
listen to me about that. It's not done, it's it's
it's pretty much done. I'm hoping now Um, it's either
(01:22:07):
going to be the SEC or the Big ten. I
don't want to go to the Big twelve. I can't
do that. So you're gonna be in the patrol. Chris,
don't don't waste don't waste your time. It's just bless
his home. By the way. By the way, I would say,
after what Nate Oates has kind of gone through near
the end of this season, with what happened, I think
maybe drawing less attention to your basketball program at Alabama
(01:22:28):
is a good thing. I mean, it has not been
a banner year off to know for Alabama basketball so
far this year. Why does Arnie want Arizona in the
SEC so bad? He doesn't? Yes, I do about get
smacks like Vanderbilt would be like this is easy. I
heard the same thing about Texas A and M when
they went into the Sea. A and M thought they
(01:22:50):
would be any and A and M has been farmed
for wins. It would I'll say the first two year,
it would just be the National Championship game every single
week Arizona three. You know, George Attack playing in the
SEC for a really be honest, because I mean, look,
I really think the PAC twelve is is going to disintegrate,
and where are you going to go after that? There's
really not too many choices, the Big twelve or the
(01:23:11):
SEC and I don't post something to you. Yeah, why
do all the people involved with the PAC twelve keeps
saying they're they're doing everything they can to stay together,
But it's everyone that wants to gain something from them
that says they're not. In other words, a couple of
articles about that, and and who are they from, Oh,
this guy's connected with a Big twelve, or this guy
(01:23:33):
runs this fan side or this guy has I just
I feel like we end up falling into this trap
all the time. But the PAC twelve can survive if
it can get numbers decent enough to make it where
you're not going to get rich somewhere else. And I
think they can. But you're not going to the sec
(01:23:56):
RNY or the Big ten. Your only other option is
the Big twelve independence. And I think you want the
Big twelve every day and twice on Sunday over Yeah,
I mean I would do that. I'm still kind of
surprised with all the money that's being shelled out for
TV rights and all that stuff there that that the
PAC twelve cakes themselves up. They're going to Yeah, they're going.
And here's the thing too, And I say this, I'm
(01:24:17):
a Big twelve guy, right, but I've never seen a
TV deal reported like the Big twelve TV deal was
reported because it literally it listed everything what they would
get from the NCAA tournament, what they would get from
an expanded twelve team playoff. Like literally, it made it
looked a lot look a lot more juiced than it
(01:24:40):
truly is. And I don't know how much more beneficial
it is when you start chopping it up a thirteenth
way of fourteenth way. So I'm telling you what, I
think the PAC twelve is gonna live. I keep saying it,
and I believe it. You know, yeah, you shot me
down last week, But I'd be willing to give up
part of my share for a year or two, um
not take a full share, just to go and go
to the s. SEC says no, thank you all the same.
(01:25:02):
Why Wow, Listen, I don't know where this is coming
from from you, But if you were like Oregon and Washington,
if you were gonna be in the Big ten, you'd
be there by now, Arnie. If Arizona was SEC bound,
guess where they'd be. They'd be in the SEC, so
good luck. I'd love to see you guys in there.
(01:25:23):
But I just I think of the SEC ads anyone.
It's gonna be Notre Dame, Clemson or Florida State. That's it.
You know what, didn't I said you an artway though?
It was I said an article about the PAC twelve
and the ACC, did I not? Or? Oh? Yeah? But listen,
this is the arc. All right, I'm gonna take you
guys through. We'll all have some fun tonight. Okay, I'm
gonna take you through what it's like with these conference
(01:25:44):
realignment stories, because it's really it's a play in three acts.
Here's the first act, some story about this uh, this
is gonna end up folding, or this team is in trouble,
or this conference is in trouble. Are the PAC twelve
can't get its media deal? Right? Okay? That that's act one.
(01:26:04):
Then Act two is some cockamaney story about the Big
twelve is interested and they're meeting with these schools, or
they're gonna merge with the ACC. And what's the third act? Arnie,
the Back twelve's pretty happy together. They're fine to try
to stay together. I wish I worked as hard in
my first marriage as people are trying to work within
the Pac twelve to keep that league together. And I
think as long as they want to stay together, I
(01:26:26):
think you're gonna stay together. And Arnie for you, personally,
I would be the biggest fan of that of its
staying together, because you're gonna be the belle of the
ball in the New Pack twelve. If we went to
the Big twelve, we'd just be stealing. Um. We'd beat
number one every year in basketball that you wouldn't know.
You wouldn't. You're telling me you're gonna be You don't
have to be Kansas, Gaylor, all of them, canny. You're
(01:26:50):
not better than TCU. Probably we beat them last year,
but that was beside the point. When did you meet
him last year in the tournament? Oh you beat tc
in the NCAA tournament? Member was the instant classic? That game?
Wasn't that was? What was it two years ago? I
think it was like three years was last year? It
was last year. That's the sure sign of an instant
classic when you can't even remember what you're everybody talking about,
(01:27:12):
you know from five years ago, it was last year?
It was last year. I do think the pac twelve
sticks together just literally because there's nowhere else exactly geographically
to go. The Mountain West is a non starter. Like
you almost kind of have to keep together, just because
like the finances already of USC and UCLA having to
do cross country flights for all their sports is already
(01:27:34):
like could very well be intolerable for someone like UCLA.
USC might be able to do it, but still it's
it's not ideal for them at the end of the day.
So like there's no other there's not a wide range
of conferences or even alignments that even work for anyone
on the Pacific time zone. Like it just you kind
(01:27:54):
of have to stay together. Arizona and Arizona State, I mean,
does fit into the Big twelve. Just you just won't
be You just won't be a Power five conference at
some point, You'll just be part of this middle tier.
But that's what I want to hear in a twelve
team playoff. Though I don't know how you pull me
into this conversation every single Sunday. Now we started on
like Alabama basketball somewhere, this happens because Arnie starts talking
(01:28:18):
about Arizona going to the SEC in a twelve team playoff,
six teams from six conferences have a seat at the table.
Right So I'm I'm not in a rush to go
somewhere else if I still have these ten schools together
and we can make a little money. So I don't
know why you'd be racing to go anywhere, Arnie. I
(01:28:39):
just don't think your football program is as good as
you think. Well, first, I really believe that. The number
one reason I'm wanting to get somewhere else because I
believe that. The fact I always believe those reports that
Oregon and Washington are going or they're gonna take away
the four teams Washington, Washington State, Oregon, and Oregon State,
or that Arizona Arizona Zona State want to break out off.
(01:29:00):
I'm like, I can't think this. Um, you know, we
lose anybody now, it's just going to destroy the conference.
Maybe it's just not worth keeping together anymore. I get
where you're coming from from that angle. But then where
it I don't understand is why you then jump to
the SEC in the Big twelve right away rather than
what's probably more likely is that, unfortunately, you're just gonna
(01:29:20):
have to take a step down. If you're somebody these
If the Big twel if the Packtrael doesn't keep together
like those schools something like that, well the whack doesn't
even play football at the at the D one FBS
level anymore. But like you, you either have to hope
someone like the Big Twelve, who's already in trouble their
own ways, takes you, or you just have to accept
a step down and go to the American like there's
(01:29:41):
other playing hold on, hold on, They'll have a spot
in the Big twelve if they want it. Oh, I
don't doubt that. Yeah, So Arizona, Arizona, say, Utah, Colorado,
if you guys are down with the package, that's the
story I said to Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona state right right,
because I just don't see the Big twelve cutting up
their pie two much. Oh they was a hard copy
(01:30:02):
because there is a clause in their TV deal that
if they add a Power five program, then they can
renegotiate their TV contract. And that's according to Andrew Marshitt,
And he seems to be pretty tight on these these stories.
So I'm not necessarily saying I've heard that, but he's
reporting it. So if you have that opportunity to where
(01:30:22):
you bring another Power five schools and you're like, hey,
we brought an Arizona in Arizona State. And I don't
think the Big twelve commissioner, Bret your mark is going
to be tripping over as you know, what to bring
in these schools if he didn't think they'd bring him
more money. I think there could be something there. But
again I go back to my same take. I've had
this whole time with you, Arnie. I think I'd be
pretty happy with the Pac twelve potentially staying together. I
(01:30:43):
think they've got a future there. Thankfully, the US is
not getting beat by ten yet they trail. Now what
is at eleven to two? As we will head to
the bottom of the eighth inning? Oh you know you
are a couple of seconds ahead of me. Now on
the TV, school take that. Oh my gosh, we just
hit a home run. We're back in this game. How
does it feel? By the way, Justin and Cincinnati writes,
(01:31:05):
Arizona could probably be competitive constantly in that league. That
Grand Canyon is Grand Canyon University on a rivalry? What
conference even is that perfect? I want to say Grand Canyon,
you conference? Steve just told me it's in the whack.
(01:31:26):
Oh see, Oh, they don't play football in the whack,
so you'd be in trouble. Hey, you A Big twelve
is trying to be a basketball tournament, basketball league. So
there you go, Arnie, that might be where you end up,
all right, speaking of basketball. Speaking of basketball, make sure
you get to Fox Sports Radio dot com and get
in our bracket challenge. It's gonna be awesome, it's gonna
be fun, and there's a chance for you to make
(01:31:49):
a lot of money. That's right. You get a perfect bracket.
It's one million dollars. So go to Fox Sports Radio
dot com. Check out our Fox Sports Radio Million Dollar
Bracket Challenge. Fill out a perfect bracket. You can win
a million dollars plus a million dollars plus incredible prizes.
And I again, I don't think anyone is updated their
(01:32:10):
celebrity entrance yet outside of Arnie. And you're gonna stick
with this, You're gonna say you're not changing your mind
on no. I feel College of Charleston or any of
these teams. I feel I like the way I had
Charleston going to the Elite Aid. I like my upsets.
I feel good this year. I'm you know, I'm always
in the top three anyway, so people can plain I
have an unfair advantage, but I don't care. What is
(01:32:33):
the unfair advantage again, mister mister march madness, who gave
you that name? I think the Fox Sports So go
check it out today Fox Sports Radio dot Com. Or
I want to give you a football tweet here and
you can answer it now, or we can break and
(01:32:54):
think about it, because I'm very intrigued by what the
Rams are doing are not doing. And I saw this
from Nick Wagner and it got retweeted into my timeline
and I've been thinking about it ever since I saw
it this afternoon. He writes, the Rams were always going
to have to sell off expensive pieces after their run,
(01:33:16):
but make no mistake, it wasn't just a one year
all in thing. They won the third most games in
the NFL, with two Super Bowl appearances and one win
from twenty seventeen to twenty twenty one. A five year
window is a run that any team would be happy
to have. He adds the Patriots have skewed what sustained
(01:33:38):
success looks like a little bit in the league over
the last twenty years, but unless you have one of
those few qbs who can always keep you competitive. Mahomes,
it's tough to be in the hunt for a decade
or more so. A little bit to unpack there, But
I guess the biggest question is did the Rams just
(01:34:00):
simply play out their window and now it's time to reload?
What are their options when it comes to Stafford though,
I mean we heard the rumors that they may want
to trade him, that we don't want to trade him.
And if they wanted to work something out, couldn't they
rework his contract or if they didn't want him around,
what he retire and they give him some of the
money out. I don't know how that because I always
(01:34:22):
said if anybody was going to retire, and we talked
about this before, I said, it'd be somebody like Stafford.
He was hurt last year he had His wife didn't
like that he had all those concussions. She went through
a very serious illness, I mean very serious. He's won
his super Bowl after all those years at Detroit, finally
got his super Bowl. Maybe it is time to say,
you know what, enough is enough? I think I've had
a pretty good career. Well, we'll dive into it more
(01:34:45):
in depth next, because the Rams might not be the
only quote unquote contender that could be retooling. Yeah, we're
looking at you, Minnesota. We'll get into it next here
on Fox Sports Radio. Don't call it a come back.
Let's go calling it. Bobby Witt Junior, who's about nineteen
years old, just lines it double into the gap. Team
(01:35:08):
USA gets one back, only down eight. It's a weave
to three. Who is that, Bobby Witt Jr. You said
that's right. His father was a pitcher, wasn't he correct?
There you go. He was also a commit to the
University of Oklahoma, made the decision to go play with
the Royals after being a top five pick in the draft.
(01:35:30):
I don't know how I feel about that, but you know,
maybe he made the right choice. And so you're saying,
there's a chance. And then no one's with me on
this one. No one let me know they can get
a couple more runs in this first I do like,
let's hit a couple of tweets here real quick, and
we'll get to this Rams conversation. The villain you need rights,
(01:35:51):
of course. The people behind home Plate are driving Arnie
and Plank crazy American baseball fans, especially old ones, don't
like fun. Oh wow, yeah, that's right, we're anti fun.
You got my middle name is mister fun? What's wrong
with you? I am? I'm definitely getting older because the
(01:36:15):
little things that shouldn't bother me do um, but I
do like what at a head news one tweeted at us. Right,
the backstop guys are actually making my night. They're gonna
be dropping from exhaustion and dehydration before eleven pm Pacific time.
And I can't figure out who they're rooting for more
(01:36:35):
beer and strikeouts. I can't figure out who they're rooting
for either, because it seems like they jump up and
down on every single pitch, for every single batter. And
if you're driving around tonight or you're you're sitting with
no TV and you wonder what the hell we're talking about.
At Chase Field tonight, behind home plate there is a
(01:36:56):
group of what would you say, are any like twenty bros?
Are good seeds too? Yes, there's like twenty bros. And
they are just they're losing their mind. On every single pitch.
They're all waving in one direction, or they're they're putting
the curse on the pitcher or yeah, here they're putting
the curse on the one two pitch here to Alonzo.
But yeah, they're they're having the night of their lives.
(01:37:18):
I think have the best way to put it, go baseball.
They're they're just like, go baseball right now? Yeah, exactly.
They couldn't care less down to our final out of
the eighth inn after I think the eighty six mile
high pop out of this game. I don't know if
we have any advanced metrics on this tonight, but I
think Team USA has popped out at least at least
Arnie a thousand times. So let's ignore this and get
(01:37:41):
back to baseball. What do you make on the Rams
right now? Do they become a very interesting team tomorrow
and not what they're trying to do to add people
or maybe trying to reset things. This is this is
an interesting team because some of the guys that they
they've forty Tredy Jalen Ramsey to the Dolphins today, there's
rumors about Matt Stafford. A couple of other guys have
(01:38:03):
been mentioned. Stafford, though, who's really gonna want somebody like
him right at this point? With the money that he's
He's gonna be coming in with well, I mean every
every quarterbacks like that, right, But look at the Niners.
It's a good point by Chris h who's a very
quarterback and needy team right now that needs a name.
The Colts in a heartbeat, Um, I think the Raiders
(01:38:26):
would too, aren't he? Um? Listen, here's the thing about Vegas.
And I say this every single Sunday night. But I
don't care what David Ziegler says in his meet on
Busting with the Boys. I don't care. I mean, it's great,
it's a great podcast. But if Mark Davis says I
need a name, I need something I can sell and
(01:38:47):
we're not winning, so go get me a name, the
Raiders are suddenly in play for every quarterback. Right. But
look at the names you've mentioned. You guys have mentioned.
You mentioned Vegas. Um, you mentioned that the Rams may
go on past that. You know you're and San Francisco. Right.
Did you really take out Pat Stafford? No? But I'm
(01:39:07):
just saying, if you're going to go ahead and bring
up those teams, then just might as well take Tom
Brady out of I thought I thought you were like
going with a particular nickname about no, no, no, no
that I'm thinking you might as well go ahead and
take Tom Brady out of retirement everything. But he's not us.
You don't think he's going on Brady's not coming back. Yeah,
I mean said there was a little bit of truth
that people were he's not coming some truth to that.
(01:39:28):
But now you're gonna start using the guy that basically
cheers instead of broadcast for the Patriots and so on
things when you didn't. I didn't make up that story.
It wasn't my story that came out on that. No,
I know it's not. But if you say, well, if
you're gonna get Matt Stafford, then why not just try
(01:39:49):
to go out and get Tom Brad. Don't think Tom
Brady's coming out of retirement, Well, who's to say that?
Everyone has it? I mean, I don't know. I'm pretty
sure the Raiders made their pitch to him before he retired.
If he was gonna come out of retirement, those are
the three perfect teams. I mean, West Coast, you got
San Francisco and he's not conversation to Stafford. If Brady's
(01:40:10):
coming out of retirement, he's gonna play for Miami. No,
don't tell Arnie that he'll start getting really excited if
you think the super Bowl conversation is already ratcheted up
now with the Dolphins acquiring Jalen Rains. So not Lamar Jackson,
but yes, old racket. You know when when the Dolphins
picked up that final year on two for twenty three million,
(01:40:31):
and everybody's like, okay, so we're still gonna go and
commit the tour. I thought they were gonna trade him
because twenty three million for a quarterback like that, that's guaranteed.
That's not a lot of money. I thought there'd be
some takers. Pretty good deal. Um, But isn't it kind
of funny we talked about this. You guys just ripped
me like crazy. I said, I wouldn't want Lamar Jackson.
We were talking about that Stafford. No, no, but I
(01:40:52):
know this is but it's got to go back to
something where Arnie thinks he's right. No, because buddy, you
guys go ahead. Well you ripped me about that, and
the look like there was a lot of teams lining
up from this guy right now, you know with the
collusion there we go, right, Well, I don't need to
be collusion. Well I don't think there's collusion. I don't
think that anyone can right now. Now, I'm not necessarily
(01:41:14):
dismissing that people are a bit that Cleveland gave the
guaranteed contract to de Shaun Watson, right, Chris, and so
now they're trying to do everything they can to to
get out of the guaranteed contract world. But I'm not
doubting that at all. But I also I think it's
if we saw like teams really can't even start talking
to him until the actual start of the true league year,
(01:41:39):
so everyone's like, oh, we're out, we're out, we're out. Well,
now suddenly every reporter that reports anything is one hundred
percent right. I'm not buying any of it. I think
you're gonna have five or six teams that are going
to be in the mix for this in the next
few days. It doesn't it doesn't make sense that the
Falcons would be so heavy for Desjohn Watson last year
and then within an hour of Lamar Jackson hitting the market,
(01:42:00):
Basically they're telling everybody like, oh, no, we're not going
to go after that guy. I understand the non exclusive
tag carries a ton of weight on like you have
to have your cap money tied up for so long
you have to give away draft picks. I would say this, though,
collusion doesn't need to be some big grand scheme. It
can just be literally is something as much as during
an owner's meeting saying we don't want to go down
(01:42:22):
the road of giving of giving long term guaranteed contracts.
It doesn't need to be this grand thing. But yeah,
like like bo like, I find it very weird that
every team immediately came out but before even negotiations even
could even go, and just said we're out. Yeah, like
I've never seen that. I've never seen it either. But
I also don't know how much of it is legit,
(01:42:43):
because then you even had Diana Rossini who says, you know, literally,
it's like all the Raiders are out. Well, Vinnie bond
Signor said, I don't anticipate the Raiders being in the
mix for Lamar Jackson, and then five minutes later, Diana
Raccini's there, all the Raiders could be a team in
the mix. So what's real? What's real? Bennie bon Signor
(01:43:05):
saying that he doesn't anticipate the Raiders being in the mix,
all right, Diana Ricini, he's saying, yeah, the Raiders could
be in a team in the mix, fol there were
people pushing the agenda that they didn't want to offer
Lamar Jackson a contract business um that Baltimore was going
to match it anyway, and they didn't want to go
ahead and do all that work good just if somebody
was going to go ahead and match it. So you
would rather have Tom Brady over Lamar Jackson in Matt Stafford, well,
(01:43:29):
in Matt Stafford, I mean, first of all, just with
Lamar Jackson, like I told you earlier, Um, you know,
you want a quarterback that's gonna give you twenty three
million a year so you could afford stuff around him,
or you want a quarterback to Jeff to pay forty
five or fifty million a year and you can't afford
stuff around Tom Brady's. Yeah, he's he's not married to
Jael anymore. He can't afford to take those He's not
he's not giving you a discount like he's still playing
(01:43:49):
in New Yeah, you're gonna have to pay thirty to
thirty five to forty million for him too. Yeah with
that goodness too is only twenty three million, So I'm
okay with that. So when Tua once four forty million
next year you're done with him, I want to see
what kind of numbers he puts something. He's gonna have
some great numbers out there, that's for sure. We have
no choice. We're gonna have to give him the money.
(01:44:10):
We don't have much of a choice. But at forty million,
I think that's kind of a bargain. That's what Dak Prescott,
You're gonna strill yourself in. It's so funny. I just
wanted to mention that, like what the Rams are doing
makes no sense because they can't just stop at trading
Jalen Ramsey right Like they know they're looking play into
a stream right now. Yeah, like they should be looking
to move everybody, at least everybody should be available. And
(01:44:32):
somehow we're talking about Tom Brady on the Dolphins because
of Arnie and yeah, because it's all about the Dolphins. Here, gentlemen,
welcome to the program. This show is all about Arnie's
Dolphins and picks. And as soon as you accept that
and realize that this will be a much more enjoyable experience.
I am trying to stay at the thwart history yell
like stop at some point here though, Oh bass is
(01:44:53):
loaded bottom of the eighth two outs, Team USA trying
to mount a rally. Steve de Seger one final time
tonight with us as all the details. What's going on? Steve,
you forgot the end? Down eleven to three, are down
eight runs. We've got NFL to get to in a moment.
And by the way, maybe the Rams will just completely
tank this year in draft, Caleb Williams that way looking ahead,
(01:45:16):
that's the way I think it's going right now with them.
I absolutely think that's what they're doing. And you guys
were talking to Oscars, so I looked up a couple
of things from last hour. They did have. The latest
Black Panther won an Oscar Tonight for costume, and the
latest Top Gun won an Oscar for sound, and the
latest Avatar won an Oscar Tonight for visual effects. So
some people have seen those movies. I mean Black Panther
(01:45:38):
four or fifty mill gross and Avatar six fifty mill gross.
The Best Picture winner that dominated It's Night about seventy
five mill gross. But you are correct, most people have
not seen the nominated films. Here are the numbers. The
Whale seventeen million gross in fourteen weeks in the theaters,
The Fableman's seventeen million gros in eighteen weeks in theaters,
(01:46:03):
ban Cheese of Innis, Sharon ten mill and Tar under
seven mill gross just for the Red Wow. The NFL news.
The Rams did agree to trade Pro Bowl defensive back
Jalen Ramsey to the Dolphins. It'll happen on Wednesday, when
the league year officially begins. Miami will guarantee the next
two seasons of Ramsey's contract. The Dolphins already have a
stardb's Avian Howard Byron Jones will be released. The Rams
(01:46:26):
already cut Bobby Wagner and Leonard Floyd. They do have
to field. I believe it's fifty three plus a taxi squad,
So maybe we're on the way to maybe less than
fifty three by the time we open camp, but we'll see.
Washington is giving defensive tackle to Ron Payne a four
year deal where sixty mill guaranteed. He had just been
franchise tagged. The Giants are due to resign wide receiver
Sterling Shepherd, who tour an ACL in September. He turned
(01:46:48):
thirty last month. Buffalo gave linebacker Matt Malano a two
year extension now shall we update that the US is
only down eleven to five against Mexico. It's on FS one,
bottom of the eighth. The World Baseball Classics sellout crowd
and very loud in Arizona, forty seven thousand fans. The
US plays there tomorrow nights against Canada, ten pm Eastern
(01:47:10):
Time on FS one Ian Phoenix. Today, William Byron won
the NASCAR Race. He also captured last Sunday's event in Vegas.
Next Sundays in Atlanta, also on Fox TV. Chevy drivers
have won all four Cup races so far this season.
Scottie Scheffler took the Players Championship by five strokes and
he moves back to number one in the world. He
earns four point five million dollars for four days of golf.
(01:47:33):
He's already over ten mill in his earnings this season.
We haven't even played a major yet. The fifth place
golfer still earned a million dollars this week in Hideki Matsuyama.
Which really pains me to tell you this story about
a tour rookie today, Taylor Montgomery. He was in the
top five chance for a million dollars literally million dollars
pay ray pay out I should say he was tied
(01:47:55):
for fourth place on fifteen Abogeie sixteenth old Bobogie two
shots into the water. On seventeen Goodbye, he dropped forty
spots on the leaderboard and took home seventy five thousand dollars,
not one million. And he's ranked number fifty five in
the world, and that kept him from cracking the top
fifty as of today, and that likely keeps him out
(01:48:17):
of the Masters. Aside from that, Missus Lincoln, how is
the play? Yeah? Great? Weekend? All told the NBA late game.
New York beat the Lakers in LA one twelve one
O eight. Julius Randall thirty three points in a close game.
Anthony Davis on free throws was one of five out
seventeen points, sixteen rebounds or not. Shay Gil Just Alexander
(01:48:40):
was out in Oklahoma City's win at San Antonio, out
with an abdominal strain. Luca don Sitch of the Mas
will miss another game tomorrow with a strain thigh, but
Kyrie Irving is questionable. New Orleans got forty one points
from Trey Murphy in thirty minutes and beat Portland. Brandon
Ingram was out again with a sprained achle Philly one.
It's fifth straight Cleveland and Brooklyn with wins the next
one at Denver one twenty two to one twenty Nakole
(01:49:02):
Yokich triple double in the loss. NHL Detroit upset Boston.
Just yesterday, Boston had beaten Detroit, and the Bruins became
the fastest in NHL history at a fifty wins, did
so in sixty four games, and yes, it was selection Sunday.
In college hoops, Alabama is the number one overall seed
for the NCAA tournament. Bama won the SEC title today.
(01:49:23):
Alabama will open in Birmingham on Thursday against a play
and winner. The other one seeds include defending champion Kansas,
whose coach Bill Self got out of the hospital today, Houston,
which lost its conference final today but star Marcus Sasser
did not play due to a groin injury. Purdue is
a one seed. It won the Big Ten today, holding
on against Penn State sixty seven sixty five. Perdue's first
(01:49:44):
round game is Friday night against a play and winner.
Penn State opens late Thursday against Texas A and m
Pitt is in there in the first four. Late Tuesday
night against Mississippi State. Arizona State is in sun Devils
play Wednesday night in a play in against Nevada Princeton
on the IVY League Final. It'll play two seed Arizona
on Thursday Ian Sacramento and UCLA is a two seed
(01:50:07):
in a different region, but will also play in Sacramento
this week, opening against unc Asheville. That'll be on Thursday
after ten pm. Eastern Texas a two seed. It'll open
against Colgate Thursday night and Marquette a two seed. It'll
play Friday against Vermont to the ninth Mexico eleven five
over the US. The Americans have a solo home run
(01:50:27):
from Will Smith aside from that six for thirty at
the plates. Back to you, So all we need is
a a blop, a bloop and a blast. We need
a six run home and'll basically what would be a
blast and we're good. Of course, that would assume that
the pitcher for the ninth out of the pen doesn't
allow anything. That's not a good assumption to make bas
in the way things have gone. Hey, thanks Steve, have
a great week, buddy. We're brought to you by Progressive Insurance.

Progressive dot com. All right, we're getting a lot of
texts to a lot of tweets tonight. By the way,
you missed one. Paul wrote in that they missed Paul Sarvino. Um,
(01:51:12):
they didn't do in memory of him. Also, So, I
mean that's uncle PAULI for crying out loud. I mean literally,
you tried to bring up the oscars to me, and
I didn't even know what the movies were that were
best actors, our best movies of the year. I don't
I'm sorry. I used to be so all in on it,
but I couldn't care less. You know. That's right, that's right?
(01:51:33):
And and was he not on a couple of other
good yeah, old gangster movies. Um, here's here's a good one.
This is from Ucla dodger Frank, who writes, I beg you, Arnie,
please don't underestimate Princeton as a UCLA guy. I can
tell you firsthand what happens if you look past it. Yeah,
that was one hundred years ago. No, there's not gonna
(01:51:54):
be any ten passes to the back door this time.
So that's exactly what they do. And it was more
recent than your national championship. Justin Rights, did Arnie just
say that Tua has the best two receivers in football?
I didn't know Chase and Jefferson got traded today. Oh stop.
You wouldn't take Jamar Chase over Jalen Waddle. You wouldn't
(01:52:16):
take Justin Jefferson. No, no, no, no, no no no.
I said the best duo, the best two receivers on
a team. So okay, Emmon Rights, Arnie Brady is done.
He won't be on your Dolphins next year. I think
if the Dolphins were smart, they try and go for Lamar.
I like Tuah, why not elevate your quarterback position? And
(01:52:39):
he probably needs a break from hits. You were saying
that Arnie would be happy if if Brady went to
the Dolphins. I still think Brady's gonna come out of retirement.
I just don't think he's gonna play for the Dolphins.
I think he'll end up like with San Francisco or
something like that. But I think he's gonna give it
one more chance. I'm still not ready to give up
on him. Maybe I'm crazy, Chris, but I just not
(01:52:59):
believing it. Just to prepare you guys. So you all know,
Arnie just last year gave up on Andrew lock coming back.
So this could go on for Could it be more
than a year that you're waiting when you're like, hey,
there's a chance in the one year. If he doesn't
come back this year, then he's not going to come
back at all. Um, But I just get that good feeling,
(01:53:21):
you know, especially now that he's not married. Um, you know,
what is he gonna do? I've read the treet about
the kitten, But come on now, I mean, you got
plenty of time to come on back. You might as
well give it one more year. It's it's gonna be
week eight and two is gonna be on his fourth
concussion of the year, and he's gonna be asking if
Jeff Hostetler can come back, or maybe Phil Sims, Jay Schrader,
(01:53:43):
and then one more earth to Arnie. Writes Brendan. The
Raiders are not trading up in the draft. Have you
seen how awful their defense is? They need to sign
Jimmy ge and use their picks on defensive players, because
even the local high school team could have scored on
them last season. I would rather have any free agent available,
(01:54:04):
Jacoby Brissette, Baker Mayfield, Mike Glennon. Then Jimmy Garoppolo. Oh
stop it, man, you're so anti jimmyg with those names.
I'm good. I'm good. I don't need to times if
you have to trade form like Zac Wilson or something
like that, I would not be surprised at all, Arnie
if that's end up having happened with the way things
are going right now, Okay, our final break. When we
(01:54:27):
come back, Arnie's picks. He's got his bracket ready to roll.

Bottom of the ninth two outs, Mexico leads Team US say,
eleven three hours fifty minutes right now. Good lord, I
thought we were speeding up the game. Yeah, where's the
pitch clock? Hey? Before we get to her, picks Arnie
(01:55:10):
at his time for our progressive play of the day,
and we got a little college basketball fuel for you
from earlier today in Memphis. It took a while. It's
hard to beat the time three times. Houston couldn't do it.
The Tigers, for the first time in history, beat a
number one and win the American Championships. Man, look at
(01:55:33):
this capetit coming down day. Oh man, I'm so happy
for this team and for Penny Hardaway. What a big win.
First American Athletic Conference Tournament championship. Memphis beats the one
seed Houston, who still gets a one seed in the
Big Dance and gets Penny a championship. Final score for
(01:55:54):
the World Baseball Classic by the Mexico has just beating
the USA eleven to five. USA. Those still alive. They're
back in action tomorrow. That's your progressive play of the Day,
brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Making buddling easy and affordable.

(01:56:16):
bundle and saved at Progressive dot Com. All right, take
it away, stinking genius. What do your picks look like tonight?
All right? If you want to get all my picks
for March Madness, you can just go to the Fox
Sports website. It's in the contest and it's also up
on my Twitter account, so you can look at it
on that. If I don't get to all and I'm
not going to get to all of them, but let
me just get to a few, I'll go through the
(01:56:38):
all right, I like the let me get to the South.
I'll give you some of the first round upsets I have.
I have Charleston getting by San Diego State, and I
got Fermin beating Virginia, which is one of my big upsets.
So a lot of people have not noticed that I
got Charleston going to the Elite eight. Otherwise I got
all the favorites winning the rest of the South. In
(01:56:59):
the East, I got Fau over Memphis, Oral Roberts beating Duke,
Louisiana beating Tennessee, and Montana State beating Kansas State. I
got Fau going to the elite Data also before losing
to Mark cap Let's get over to the Midwest. My
upsets there. I got Drake over Miami, Ken State over Indiana,
(01:57:21):
and then I have ken State winning over Drake, so
they're gonna go to the Sweet six team. I got
Penn State winning their game over Texas A and m
and I got VCU out of the West as my
only upset there. Oh no, excuse me. And I got
Poise over UCLA. I should pay I should give that
out with That's why one of my big upsets my
final four Arizona Marquette, Houston in Kansas, Arizona in Kansas,
(01:57:47):
with Arizona winning the whole thing, cutting down the nets.
So there you have my picks, two of them, as
you please, no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only. So
once again you're picking a bunch of teams to make
a run that you would complain about. Excuse me, you
(01:58:08):
would complain about if they made that run because they're
not big enough names for well, I have them stopping
at the Sweet sixteen of the Elite eight. I only
have FAU and Charleston going to the Elite eight. Do
you know what conference FAU plays in? Uh? Don't even
worry about it. You know what's funny to mean is
if you were to come in here and you didn't
just throw darts on these, I would like you put
(01:58:31):
Arizona to win every year. Yeah, but if I'm just
throwing darts, and how am I always finishing in the
top three in the contest? Don't think that you are
always finishing in this every year of the contest. Oh see,
it does better than between the four of us this year,
how about that? I'm I don't care. It's literally you can't.
You couldn't tell me what city O are you was in?
(01:58:52):
You don't know what fill one out, don't you or not? Yeah?
I do, but I'm trying to put some work into
it a little bit. I'm trying to study, which means
I'll finish dead freaking you who don't even you don't
even probably know what city Florida Atlantic's in, but you've
got him going like to the final four. All right, Hey,
(01:59:13):
already have a great week, man, enjoy your Arizona Wildcats
and the Big danced for the crew. Great job tonight,
Chris per Fed, great job bow bins In, Great job,
Steve de Seger for already up playing We'll see you
next Sunday Night. Big Ben's Next, right here on Fox
Sports Radio
