Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports radio. Oh, let's go, stake
in genius, Let's go, big boy, let's go. Are you
happier this week? Are you in a better mood? Are
you gonna be okay? Now that you're live, now that
you're outside lines? Dolphins are going to the playoffs with
that incredibly scintillating display of just top notch football today

(00:24):
in Miami. Why was I in a bad mood lately? Oh?
Breaking news, Steve to Sega right away? What's up, Steve?
Report from the former Houston Chronicle guy John McClean, who
has covered football for years. They're not waiting that long
that Houston Texans have fired head coach Lovey Smith. It

(00:45):
was just last night breaking news from Fox Sports. Last
night that NFL Network reported his job status is very
much up in the air. They finished today with a
victory and that because of that. I'm sure they're other
things at stake. But last minute touchdown and two point

(01:06):
conversion got Houston a win today, and while Chicago lost
its ten stor eight game, the Bears get the top
overall draft choice. But again, Lovey Smith out as Texans
head coach. Goodbye, Thank you very much for the great
job that you've done. Wow, I mean, I don't believe
in I don't. I don't believe in culture in the

(01:26):
NFL like Josh McDaniel. So we're building a culture here. No,
you're just a terrible head coach. But there's certain places
where you say like and again, obviously it's been an
emotional week and a tough week in Buffalo, so uh,
that's that's a little different right when you see an
actual culture there. But what are you doing whenever you're
constantly changing head coaches endlessly? Aren'tie? What are you actually

(01:47):
accomplishing as a franchise if you're not giving anyone more
than just one season that's back to back one and donners,
I have no idea what's going on in Houston? Taking
one step forward two steps back every year. That's exactly
what you're doing when you when you get rid of
head coaches, except in Miami's case, because had they not
one today, I would have I would have demanded that

(02:07):
the coach been fired. So I was getting him out
of here. I get das all right, So job there
you go. Breaking news right off the top of the show,
as we come to you live from the tire rack
dot com Studios, tire rack dot com. We'll help you
get there and unmatched a selection, fast, free shipping, free
road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended it installers.
Tire rack dot com The way tire buying should be

(02:29):
so to too. I guess you could say tidbits are
breaking news right. Number one, you get the firing of
Levy Smith, which is kind of hurting my over under
its six of potential vacancies in the NFL, because we
have three now make it four. Cliff Kingsbury is definitely
getting fired. So man, man, we might be safe. We'll see,
but definitelygot that. I forgot the Texas even had a coach.

(02:51):
That's my fault. Absolutely did not. You were watching watching
Texans like crazy today, but the other two had been.
A breaking news is we've got ourselves a football game
here on Sunday Night football where the Detroit Lions are
trying to knock the Green Bay Packers out of the playoffs. Uh. Now,
your feet is definitely gonna be ahead of mine. I

(03:12):
don't know why. I mean, when the studio, when the
ti rock dot com studio in l A, when their
feet is ahead of mine, I know I'm in big trouble.
But I've got five thirty three to go, and it's
twenty sixteen. Detroit has the lead again. A win by
the Lions gets the Seahawks in the playoffs. Detroit is
playing for a winning record. But maybe even more so,
I loved what Dan Campbell said when they went to him,

(03:33):
I think it was after the first quarter and they
asked my red nosed friend. They said, well, you don't
have anything to play for. You're out of the playoffs.
What are you playing for? And you know what he said,
we want to keep them out of it. And I
I literally went and bought a Lions jersey right after that,
because that's my kind of focus. But listen, we'll we'll
keep tabs on this, Aaron Rodgers trying to drive him.

(03:55):
We'll see if he's a hundred percent now. Yes, Levy
Smith adds to the fourth A can see now in
the NFL. But Arnadie, congratulations to your Dolphins back in
the playoffs. You must be on cloud nine that you
don't have to quit tonight. By the way, well, yes,
I'm very happy about that. I was very worried that
I'd have to walk to Los Angeles to didn't I
say there was gonna be like ten openings for coaching,

(04:16):
so we'll see close on that. Um. I gotta tell you,
I was a little bit nervous when it was seventeen fourteen.
I think the Patriots had the lead and the Dolphins
were struggling against the Jets. I'm saying, man, can you
believe this? This Bills team can, out of all days,
can't win today with the Patriots coming in. Um and

(04:36):
and then it was three. The Patriots had scored and
they still couldn't put it away. So I couldn't enjoy
it as much as I want. But it turned out good.
It was an ugly game with the Dolphins and Jet stuff.
The field goals were killing me. No turnovers though, that
that's what saved us. So very lucky to get to win.
And a bet of dollars to donuts to against the

(04:56):
start next weekend. You think, so, oh yeah, one percent.
I'm feeling it. He's still in concussion protocol. Yeah, well,
he won't be a percussion percussion but concussion protocol. He
won't be in concussion protocol by Friday, I promise you well.
And I think it's gonna be fascinating. I think it's
one of the more interesting stories. Now again, we still

(05:19):
have the final chapter to be written here tonight to
see if the Lions can elevate the Seahawks into the playoffs.
So we we still have another spot to figure out
the seven seed in the NFC. But I will say
I don't necessarily know if if Miami's got a shot,
but they have a much better shot off to a
place like he did. What are we going back now
three or four weeks ago on that Saturday night in Buffalo.

(05:39):
That's what I'm expecting. That's that's why I'm not worried
about them. And you're not worried about Buffalo City. No, no, no, no,
I'm already on the Kansas City. Let me tell you something.
The way we played against them last time we were
in Buffalo. We first of all, we beat them once.
We should have beat them twice. Um, it was in
the cold and the snow didn't make a difference. It
was clear to begin with and snowed later on. Um

(06:00):
we deserved that game. If it wasn't for player number
one thirty, which is the referee, I think he's the
one that took the game from us. So, UM, they
don't worry me whatsoever. I already told my wife, I'm
sorry that you're gonna have to lose in the first round.
So you basically went from you want to fire your coach, Um,
I was nervous about everything. I'm just happy we made

(06:23):
the playoffs two as a double digit underdog. You have
no concerns about going to Buffalo next week. I just
already say that we might. We might need a psychiatrist
to help us better understand that. But yeah, I I
don't necessarily know if I fully understand that. But hey,
look at this turnover Aaron Rodgers. I'm is there a

(06:43):
flag on this one? No flag? And there ain't no flag?
Look at this already? How about what the Lions are doing?
A night to the Packers. Sorry to interrupt your You're
gonna have all night long detrol Bills fans before you
lose my thirty next week. But I think I don't
even know why you think that, since we're really two

(07:03):
and all against them, or one on one, but really
two and all against them. Did you watch today's game
but the Bills game? No, no, no, no, you're your
Dolphins game, aren't he against Joe Flacco? Did you watch that?
Was to play, and I didn't. Oh, let me tell you,
Two ain't playing this weekend. Man, there's no way. I
know that you're all confident and you're on cloud nine.
I don't think there is any way that two was

(07:25):
gonna play this weekend. Now, goodness, we sawned Mike Glennon.
Then that's all. You know what I texted you right away.
That was my favorite thing from this week is whatever
they said, Hey, we went out and got Mike glenn
and there's a chance that he could actually play. I
I was in shock, especially whenever I started looking at
the numbers for Mike Glennon. Who um And this was

(07:46):
from Jeremy Clump, So give him all the credit. Mike
Glennon was o went ten in his last ten games,
and he's six and twenty five in his career. He
hadn't won a football game since two thousand and seventeen
and the Dolphins had to emergency signed him this weekend
and was liking it. I'm like, hey, so basically, what
you're saying, he's all anyone has to do is put

(08:08):
on a Dolphins jersey or hat and they're fine. You're
good with him. It's like, no, no, no, of course
it's gonna be tough if you if we have to
go with Thompson or um, you know, if if you
have to go with Teddy b But I'm expecting to
go back and you've seen what two has done against
the Buffalo Bills. Um, hopefully that Tyreek Hill is gonna
be healthy. He's got the bad ankle. I know why.

(08:28):
I don't got hurt there at the end of the game.
But hopefully everybody rest up or coming in. Like I said,
we beat them at home. Um, we should have beat
them in Buffalo. Good weather. Bad weather didn't make a difference.
By the way, the Bills are not playing all that
great day without the two returns and um for touchdowns
to kickoff returns. They were very blase today even also

(08:48):
so um, it isn't like their world beaters out there now.
I uh, I'll be curious to see how this thing
gets scheduled, because if you know, you've got three different days, Saturday,
Sunday and Monday, and and that Monday night game, if
I understand correctly, has to be a four or five matchup,
so you're not gonna have to worry about Monday night

(09:08):
football on that front, right, because you come in as
the seven. I think that Monday night football game. Boy,
if i'm I'll just say, if I'm sitting there and
i'm ESPN, I'm begging for Cowboys Buccaneers on Monday Night football,
I'm begging for it. But I don't know. You know,
maybe Fox is gonna fight to try to keep that
in the afternoon slot. But Arnie, I, I know this
sounds crazy, but if you were playing on Monday night,

(09:31):
I might be a little bit more inclined to buy
your idea that too could play. But I just man,
if he's still in protocol after that most recent and
they didn't go to him yet, I just I don't
know now. Mike Florio reported on the I watched the
NBC pregame show because I've been all foot. My wife,
thankfully is into a book. So when she's into a book,

(09:52):
she's not grinting and moaning about me turning the channel,
which is a beautiful thing. Uh. When Florio reported, Hey,
they they're not necessarily thinking that this is one of
the great reports ever. They're not necessarily thinking they's gonna play.
But by no means are they ruling him out there?
How can well, how could you pass on something like that.
You know, they waited to the They waited all the
way to the end of the week until they ruled

(10:13):
them out for the Jets. Um, even though you pretty
much knew that he wasn't going to play. I think, um,
you know, two weeks has been enough. Of course, I'm
not a doctor. I just playing one on the radio.
But I think I think that nobody's anything about Morris
playing for the Bills, and he's had six concussions, so
I think two is gonna be ready to get back

(10:33):
out there. Who, by the way, was in the tunnel
watching the game, so um, he was there at the
end of the game. I do like how quickly we
go from caring about players safety. He's saying, well, this
guy's had like twelve concussions, so my guy can go
play too. Whenever the playoffs are on the line, you
completely forget about players safety. You just couldn't care less
about concussions. There's a guy after that's got eight of him.

(10:54):
My guy can go play. What's going on here? Let's
go No, we we we took in two weeks there,
he's taking two weeks off, so okay, you know, I
don't know anybody who's taking three weeks off for a concussion.
Oh I I know people whose careers have ended it
because of freaking concussions already. Come on, what are you
talking about? Dr Pig, Because you know what, I expect
this from you because you're a Raiders fan. You you

(11:15):
have nothing to root for us, So you're gonna go
ahead try to ruin it for my Dolphins. But it's
not gonna work. I like the idea. I like the
idea that pointing out a quarterback who hasn't played for
a couple of weeks and it's had his third concussion
this year probably shouldn't play again, is me taking out
my bitterness over my team. I like how that kind
of plays out. But here we are, all right, So

(11:35):
a busy show coming up tonight. Todd Firm is gonna
join us coming up in our number two. We're gonna
have instant reaction to this Packers Lions game. And as always,
you know, Arnie, there's that question that starts to loom
in week eighteen, and that's the off season, right, and
that's the quarterback. Are we watching Aaron Rodgers last game
at lambeau Field next week at are the advance. Are

(11:56):
we seeing the final run of not just Tom Brady,
but Tom Brady maybe as the Buccaneers quarterback to see
not necessarily say audios to football, but say audios at
Tampa Bay. Or does he become a broadcaster? Are we
seeing maybe quarterback movement unlike anything we've seen. There's a
Matt Stafford not come back if Sean McVeigh decides to

(12:16):
step away. I mean, I I know, listen, we've got
on the field stuff we're gonna talk about when we
come back. But I feel like over the last few
weeks and of course go back maybe even three weeks
if you want to talk about the Raiders and their
decision with Derek Carr, we have set up for a while.
It's gonna be season again. Man, it's gonna be fantastic.
You know, like I said, I told you there was

(12:37):
gonna be ten UM openings for coaches. You laughed at
me about that. I think that I said about six,
I said my over under at six. I'm not laughing.
It's gonna be. It's gonna be over now. There's at
least I think it's gonna be over um. And you know,
it's just amazing how many big veteran quarterbacks out there
that's gonna be changing teams also, So I mean it's
gonna be fantastic. I can't wait to see some of

(13:00):
the moves that are gonna be made out there. Yeah,
and and and when we obviously progress through the next
few weeks getting into the you know, the playoffs, then
obviously counting down a Super Bowl week. Whenever you get
the State of the League address and you get all
the general managers together, you know, I assume we'll have
a Derek Carr move by that point, Aren'tie. And I
really really feel like that New Orleans is a place

(13:21):
to keep an eye on with him. You know, who knows.
Maybe you'll have a decision by Sean McVeigh which could
really upset that apple cart from from a coach's perspective.
But you know, tonight we learned that Levy Smith is out.
We'll see if Jonathan Gannon and Josh McCown get that job.
But I don't, Arenie, I don't think anyone's jumping from
another job to go take the Texans gig. I don't

(13:41):
think anyone's coming from the college ranked to take the
Texans gig. I also don't think that's the case in Carolina,
in Denver, or in Indianapolis right now. So I just
I kind of feel like we're gonna see some fresh
blood in the coaching circle here, maybe see what's gonna
the way to see what's gonna happen with Harbaugh. And
I pretty much expect to stay in Michigan, but first

(14:03):
I'm gonna go ahead and interviews before I do anything else.
So um, you know, I'll see I expect to stay,
but I want to see what they're offering over here.
How about that? All right, it's gonna vibe check before
we grab our first time out of the show our man,
Chris Perfett, who's running the show, Bob Benson, our producer,
And it's great to hear Steve de Sager's voice back
on updates and with the breaking news. Chris covers the

(14:25):
Detroit Lions for Prior to Detroit, very popular podcast, How
you feeling right now? I know there's frustration that there's
not a playoff Berth on the line, but this would
be one hell of a wind to wrap up the season.
Oh profet, no, no, profet, I'm here. I just had
to get my headphones. I yeah, like they're not in
the playoffs, but that doesn't matter it to the Lions.

(14:48):
They want to end the season for the Green Bay Packers.
I'm a little worried with this drive coming up here
if they can't convert. But they've got the Packers on
the ropes right now. And um sorry, I'm really distracted
watching this. I profession mr watching the Wow. No, I

(15:09):
I think this This game means a lot to the Lions,
just to show like how much they've grown, what the
season means for them. It's it's not it's not a
disappointing year for the Lions at all. I know they're
not going to the playoffs, but you started one and
six and you have so much emotion that's going to
carry in the next year. And you've kind of found
your quarterback with Jared Goff, Like what's not to love? Yeah,
it's and then Dan Campbell has become a godsend for

(15:31):
all of us. But late in this game ten Detroit
leads it. If Detroit wins, Seattle makes the playoffs and
Jared Goff and maybe more specifically, this Lions defense becomes
the toast of the Seahawks of the twelfth Man, What
a burn against Aaron Rodgers too. I mean, all you
have to do is win at home at home, and

(15:51):
you know what, you're a favorite. You're like a five
six point favorite. You're playing the Lions, for crying out loud,
no matter how good they've got, You're playing the Lions. Um,
you get a lead out there and you can't get
any touch jobs only you get this little for some
field goals and look at you, embarrassing Joseph Bills and
Aaron Rodgers head right now. Yeah, it's pretty impressive to

(16:12):
see what this Detroit defense has been able to do.
All right, So let's get our initial time out. We'll
keep tabs on this game obviously. Uh. An opportunity for
Detroit to try to seal the deal here, uh, and
we'll see if maybe they can get Seattle into the playoffs,
I assume. And the Saker is gonna be all over this.
We're gonna get that full NFL schedule for next weekend
is this show progresses, and we will definitely keep our

(16:34):
eye on what could be a very busy Black Monday
looming for the NFL. So coming up on a busy

(17:40):
roll on from the tire Rack dot com studios, I
feel like this calls for another tidbit of breaking news.
Don't you want that? Don't you don't listen? Steve de
Sega ready all breaking news to Segar it's a final.
What do we have in lambo rinking news from Fox Sports?

(18:02):
Well we have is green Bay missing the playoffs? Detroit
sixteen the final? Do you know? And I know nobody
else is probably gonna say this. If the Seahawks had
just tied today, this win would have put the Lions
in the postseason. And the Seahawks were tied in overtime
sixteen sixteen, and then Baker Mayfield through an interception and

(18:26):
Seattle drove for the winning field goal that kept him
alive and the Seahawks get the last playoff spot they
needed green Bay to lose tonight, the Packers have green
Bay finishes eight and nine. It'll be Seattle at San
Francisco next weekend. Aaron Rodgers walking off with his arm
around Randall Cobb and it is he literally just pushed

(18:49):
the camera. Guys said, get the camera off me. Pretty
good lip reading, Harney, pretty good at lip reading. Um.
And they had towards the locker room and of course
unfortunately the focus isn't out anything the Lions. There we
go give me some eight Hutchinson. Yeah, this kid's something else.
So the the pay the Lions are actually celebrating with

(19:10):
the Lions fans running around doing a lap around lambeau Field.
I mean, unbelievable win for the Lions to night. And
now the question has to be asked, Arnie, are we
watching Aaron Rodgers walk off lambeau Field for the last
time as the Packers quarterback? I know we did the
same thing last year. I feel like we've done the
same drill for the last five years. I know what

(19:33):
his contracts like, but there just seems to be a
different field for some reason about this. Every time I
bring that up, you guys always tell me it's impossible
that he has dollars or a lot of money like
that coming. And um, it'd be so hard against the
calf and nobody would ever trade for him. I mean
money aside. Yeah, I think it would be his last game.
But I don't know how to put money aside. I

(19:54):
don't know how you go ahead and rework and I
don't know how you make a trade, how you cut
him and not what account against the cap and destroy
your team. So, um, I believe it was gonna be
his last game. I just don't know how it could
be done. Um, So it doesn't cost the Packers an
arm and a leg. I will say I saw something
with their showing the shots of the Seattle bars where

(20:16):
Seahawk fans are celebrating. I do that. I wish we
could just go ahead and say, you know what we're
getting at an eighth playoff team or sorry, Seattle, that
wasn't impressive enough. Homelines getting your spot When when they
was talking about adding an eighth playoff team, remember I
texted you, I go, oh, I I can go for that.
I put us in the bobs. I like that. That'd
be good. I'll tell you what would have been great

(20:37):
is if the NFL truly was w W E or
a W or or whatever wrestling network or or promotion
you consume. And suddenly, when the game is over, all
of a sudden, like Roger Goodowell's music kits and he
comes strutting out on the field and he's like, wait
a minute, we have decided that there will be a
loser's leaves count over time between Detroit and Seattle, and

(21:00):
like all of a sudden, the Seahawks come running on
the field. But in all seriousness, this game was bonkers.
You had the wild lateral play on on third and
long rct C B second and long. That set him
up for third and three, and then they have the
Cojonas to go for it on fourth down with a
four point lead with one fIF team to go. I mean,
you easily could have kicked the field goal, made it

(21:21):
a touchdown game, and you know, you feel pretty good
about trying to keep Aaron Rodgers out of the end zone.
But you go for it and throw it on fourth
down and complete it. Uh. Chris Profett was telling us
Jamal Williams ends up breaking Barry Sanders single season record
for touchdowns in the Detroit Lions uniform. And oh, something
I've never seen in the National Football League. Quay Walker

(21:44):
got kicked out of the game for pushing an athletic
trainer who was trying to go and help an injured line.
I've never seen that before. Now he gotta he put
his hands on him first. So I'm gonna have to
watch that again. Um, so you can watch it again.
Whenever train in this I'm not trying to trample all
over yard here, but in this, in everything that we've

(22:04):
experienced this week, whenever an athletic trainers coming in and
trying to watch a guy, you get out of their way.
So this isn't like some marketing guy trying to hold
back Stark at the Alamo Bowl. You don't know what
you said? What happened to the play? Where was a
walker walking down before the snap to touch the ball?
Did you see that play? Did you see that going?
I think that wasn't that was that was Russeul Douglas

(22:26):
walked in and I think he kicked. He was like,
wasn't gonna let him snap the ball and get a
practice kick because the Packers had called time out? Is
what I think had happened there. I hadn't seen that
or either if there's like two things in this game
that I've never seen in the National Football League tonight,
I'm like, what the heck are you doing? For crying
out loud? So that was kind of crazy. I'm just

(22:47):
seeing Rogers walking in and Um, as you mentioned, has
got his arm around Cobb, and I don't know if
it's going to be his last game. I just know
this that if there's any way they can get out
of that contract um without it costing him against the captain,
that they're going to do it, They'll find They'll find
somebody to take them. I just don't know how they
could pull it off. All right, Well, we can talk
about how complicated other banks make it to redeem credit

(23:08):
card rewards or Arnie, we could talk about how Discover
you can redeem your rewards for cash in any amount
at any time. I mean talk about amazing learn more
discover dot com slash redeem awards terms apply. That's redeem
rewards in terms apply again. It's a final. The Detroit
Lions have gone into Lambeau. They've beaten the green Bay Packers.

(23:28):
Welcome to the playoffs, Seattle. Congratulations, you'll get the Niners
next week in San Francisco, winners of ten in a row.
Here with the latest news on all things football and
everything in sports is Steve to say. What's going on, Steve, gentlemen,
we have the playoff schedule officially. Let's go, guys. I

(23:49):
like that. Let's go. Green Bay is out losing at
home twenty to sixteen to Detroit. Seattle stayed alive with
the overtime win against the Rams. Seattle will be the
first playoff game this Saturday, the fourteenth, Seattle at San
Francisco on Fox TV four thirty pm Eastern Time. The
Chargers play Saturday Night at Jacksonville. Three games next Sunday.

(24:12):
In the postseason, Miami's got the first game at Buffalo
one pm Eastern on Sunday. Then it's Minnesota hosting the
Giants on Fox TV next Sunday at four thirty Eastern.
Next Sunday nights games, Cincinnati will host the Baltimore Ravens.
Cincinnati just won its eighth straight game, beating Baltimore Today.

(24:33):
There is a Monday night game these days. Remember that's
why they call it Super wild Card Weekend. A week
from tomorrow Monday Night, January sixteenth. To close out this
first weekend of the NFL postseason, Dallas at Tampa Bay
in rhyme time, Dallas lost its regular season finale six
at Washington, Denver, and San Francisco with wins. Philadelphia want

(24:57):
to clinch the one seed in the NFC and a
first round by Miami got in with an eleven six
win over the Jets. Dolphins get that final playoff spot.
Buffalo won its seventh in a row and eliminated New England.
Pittsburgh is out as well, despite winning four straight to
end the season. As it turned out, Minnesota and Houston

wild Card weekend schedule starts with Seattle at San Francisco
on Saturday, Green Bay is out Saturday night, Chargers at Jacksonville,
then three games on Sunday, and the playoff game Monday night,
the sixteenth, Dallas at Tampa Bay. Back to you, Thank goodness, man,
thank goodness. What do you think goodnessing for that? Aaron

(26:47):
Rodgers lost? No, that just that they gave Miami the
perfect time slot to pull off the victory against Buffalo.
Not too cold, it's gonna be early, the sun's outs
not gonna be like one are those blistering cold nights
that you can't do anything in the offense is sputtering
all over the place. It's gonna be just fine. Don't
worry about that. Just fine. So you've you've looked ahead

(27:10):
of the weather forecast? Yes, I did. What's it looked
like it of snow on that Saturday? Nothing on that Sunday.
So I'm already ahead of you. Do you understand that?
Do you know what you're talking to? Well, I'm talking
here since the Dovins made the playoffs. Let's go Well,
I mean, why would you get excited when you're just

(27:32):
gonna get your ass kicked. I don't even know why
you would say that when you've seen the two games
beforehand and we beat them once and we should have
beat them twice. I don't I don't know why you
keep saying that. Well, you know what I do, because
you're a Raider fan. Of course, again, that's the only thing.
Do You don't use logic in this I liked you're
used to, but you're used to the negativity. I understand that. Well,
my team was in the same spot last year and

(27:55):
you ended up being right and telling me what should
I be excited for because they were gonna lose in
the first round. I just feel like I need to
set you up and make you feel better about things.
We're not gonna lose in the first round. That's the
problem though. Where we got this one. I feel pretty
confident about are you betting your job on it? Again?
I'm not gonna bet my job or attending to that point.
Underdog McFly is slow down there, Okay, don't call me

(28:16):
a more on when I tell you you're gonna get
your grafts kick. And by the way, I I don't
know what forecast you looked at, but Bro, I think
you're gonna be Chili. It's gonna be twenty degrees at kickoff.
That's a that's summertime and Buffalo. What's wrong with you?
You play in Miami? You dope. You're not a Buffalo team.

(28:36):
You're not a cold weather team. You're the Miami Dolphins.
Didn't didn't bother us three weeks ago when we were
go ahead and should have pulled off that. Yeah, that
was that was a concussion ago and an injury to
Tyreek Killigo. I think it's a little different world now.
I'm kind of surprised you didn't say anything about that
bogus uh you know tackle around the collar that they

(29:00):
did against Miami that put him in the field goal range. Well,
I mean he he did, I mean kwon. Alexander did
grab him by the back of his by the jersey.
He pulled him down by the jersey. It wasn't was bogus,
it was completely Then, why are you sitting here pounding
your chest? Wasn't talk about irony? I mean for eighteen weeks,
the Dolphins have gotten the raw end of every call

(29:23):
every week we can, we got and finally we get
one going our way, um after eighteen weeks, so wouldn't
that be irony? Yeah, you guys didn't get any breaks, hey,
not one break the entire time except for the last one.
Maybe Daniel's never even want to challenge till today? How
does this guy never win a challenge? Does he know
what he's doing? Does he understand? You always do a

(29:44):
challenge when you're pretty sure you're gonna reverse it, not
if you think you're gonna reverse it. Is this gonna
be the whole show tonight? I mean, what do you mean?
I'm just I'm just asking you one on the label
John crewd never want a freaking challenge either, Arenie, I
don't know. This is not shocking that coaches don't win challenges.
For the most part, coach is not very good at challenges,
so it happens. Uh, this was awesome. This was Jamal

(30:05):
Williams after the game tonight. Franchise record you Brooke Berry
Sanders record, What does that mean to you? Our great
friend father died on me. I'll just dedicate this to you.
I'll just probably I'm just grateful to do this for him,
my grandfather. He's not you too, But I'm just grateful

(30:26):
for him to be in my life, and I'm grateful
to be able to play football and do this for him.
So there's a lot of memories, a lot of most
inhabited right now. But I'll just grateful, grateful to be
able to play this game from our great grandfather, and
I'm glad that he's looking down at me. I know
I'm making him proud. Pretty cool. That's Jamal Williams on
the hill post game other post game note here, Real quick,

(30:49):
aren't he? Jamison Williams asked Aaron Rodgers for his jersey
for the jersey swap, and Aaron Rodgers apparently said, Hey,
I think I'm gonna have to hang on to this one.
So I don't know how much more you want to
read into that. Um, I'm not sitting here tonight trying
to tell you that it's ballgame for Aaron Rodgers. I mean,
what are the next six months for because that's pretty

(31:10):
much what we do in the NFL off season, going
back to farm now in Aaron Rodgers, we debate the
future of Green Bay Packer quarterbacks. But I mean, I
don't know, do you read anything more into it with? Hey,
you know I'm gonna hold onto this jersey. We're not
jersey swapping here. Well, it means I'm gonna keep my
last jersey playing for the Green Bay Packers, and I'm
gonna go ahead and ship everything to Las Vegas. When

(31:31):
I've become the new, uh the new quarterback for the Raiders.
Why would anyone want to go play for Josh McDaniels.
I mean, my gosh, he's he's that dude is see
do you understand that? Uh? Yeah, he's about as much
of a genius as I am and I play Madden.
I mean, the guy's a dope. I don't think the
Raiders are gonna get a quarterback, aren'ty. I don't think

(31:53):
Tom Brady's going there. They're not gonna trade for Aaron Rodgers. Listen,
I don't think John. I don't think Josh McDaniel is
gonna be the coach next year because I think Mark
Davis once Tom Brady. I think Mark Davis has wanted
Tom Brady and if he could, he'd rehire John Gruen tomorrow.
Um when if they're not able to get tom Brady
because he's like, I ain't gonna plane for that mess.

(32:14):
I honestly think that's the main reason why Mark Davis
brought in David Ziegler as Ziggler have you said? And
Josh McDaniels. And when Tom Brady says, no, he's gonna
look at what's been a disaster in Vegas so far,
I'd be like, all right, let me go get someone
that actually knows what they're doing. So I'm not even
sold that Josh McDaniels is gonna be the guy in Vegas. Well,
I I think it's gonna be him. Otherwise they probably

(32:35):
would have made their moves, you know, sooner than light.
They're just like they did with the Texans, you know
what they you know where I said there's gonna be
the over and coaching openings, I think it's gonna be
the under and teams actually interested in somebody like Tom Brady.
Don't overestimate that that's gonna want Tom Brady. The Raiders
are gonna want him. Mark Davis will might actually change

(32:58):
his bull haircut in order to go get Tom Brady.
He'll he'll overpay everyone. I'm talking. Oh, you know, you
gotta get rid of Derek car because that's forty million
invested in the quarterback position. They'll pay Tom Brady forty
million dollars to try to come there and play in Vegas.
I guarantee they will. Well, I mean again, I still
remember I said I thought it was the Patriots would
be a destination for Tom Brady. The way Mac Jones

(33:19):
played down the stretch the last like uh six seven weeks,
I don't think that's a possibility. I don't think going
home there is a possibility. So I always think there's
probably about like two or three teams that go want
somebody like Tom Brady, and Vegas is going to be
one of them. I don't know where Aaron Rodgers is
gonna go. Um, you know, where is he going to
fit on? And it's gonna be the question. I think
Aaron Rodgers is more apt to just walk away than

(33:41):
he used to play somewhere else. Next year, will be
the host of the Jeopardy or something like that. Well,
I mean, I don't know, do they have a regular host? Yeah?
Maybe so, But again, wild Card Weekend Super wild Card
Weekend is said, and yes, with the Lions winning tonight
on Sunday Night Football, that means the Seahawks are in.
We'll kick off layoff coverage with the Seahawks and the

(34:01):
Niners next Saturday on Fox three thirty Gods time zone
the Central time Zone, and then seven fifteen Central time
on NBC Saturday Night, it'll be the Chargers and the Jaguars.
Triple header on Sunday starts with Arnie's Dolphins at noon
Central and Buffalo against the Bills three thirty ish for
the Giants in Minnesota. Then in primetime on Sunday Night

(34:22):
it's Baltimore and Cincinnati. And Monday night football has to
be a four or five matchup, and oh what a
four or five? They get Cowboys Buccaneers Monday night real
quick before we grab a break and given the Bucks
any chance after the way the Cowboys look today. Oh
I'm gonna give a little bit of chances because oh
it's Tom Brady and the magic that he has in
the playoffs. But baith on what we see, you know,
on on the field, none whatsoever. I mean, if it

(34:44):
goes the way, if this was like a regular season game,
I'd be all over Dallas to kick their backside. Well,
when we come back, it's time to see what the
people say. Tweets tweets, score at stink and Genius one
I'm at Plank Show. This is Fox Sports Radio. All right,
It's Arnie in Plank Day, Fox Sports Sunday, Week eight teen.
In the books regular season final, we got the playoff

(35:06):
Week one schedule first round buys for Philadelphia, who clinched
the one seat of the NFC in Kansas City. Though Kn'
City in Buffalo play in the a f C Championship game.
That's a coin flip. But if you've listen to our
show tonight, which is it's not gonna happen because Arnie
so confident that he won't even picked the Offins to
win the game. By the way, out of everybody at

(35:29):
the at Fox Sports Radio, I'm the only person to
pick the Dolphins to go to the Super Bowl. I
want you to know that at the beginning of the year.
It's a reason. There's a reason. And by the way,
you're the only person that's done it now for eight
straight years. That that's besides, you know what, the best
thing about the game was not only about winning, was
that at the end, even though they didn't put it
up till afterwards when people were confused, we got the

(35:50):
safety to cover two. So I was excited about that. Yeah,
if you had the I was it plus three and
a half minus three and half? Excuse me, by the way,

tweets calibert rights breaking news. I have fired myself as
a Tennessee Titans fan after giving false hope to the
Titans winning the a f C South Division from seven
and three to lose the last seven straight games. Time
to clean house, boy, and they did. They fired their

(36:33):
general manager, John Robinson, and that's when the bottom fell
out for Tennessee. Was that just fantastic? Was that just
a fun game? You know what I mean? I didn't
think Jacksonville was gonna be able to pull it off
of like, oh, my goodness, is gonna let the slip
right through their fingers? And what a big victory. It's
good to have them in the playoffs. I love it.
Of course, I told you last year they're gonna be there. Yes,

(36:53):
And part of the reason why you thought they were
gonna be there is because they have a Hall of
Fame coach and because of the quarterback. You know that,
you know, went started wondering whether or not he was
any good earlier in the season. So stop. There can
be some picks that you get wrong, and don't missogy.
That one wasn't wrong, Arnie, Arnie, that was maybe one
of your worst picks ever and one of our biggest

(37:14):
fights on the air. Whenever you said in the preseason
last year that you thought Jacksonville was going to win
ten games and we told you you're crazy. You can't
take credit for a pick two years later. Whenever they
finished DFL and had the number one pick overall in
the draft last year, not allowed. Wow the list, So
I don't see one that says you can outside of

(37:35):
your burner account packtwell football guru, uh JP rites, I
thought Christmas was over, but I swear I saw Rudolf
the Red Nose Reindeer coaching the Lions tonight. Cold my
man Dan Campbell had an absolute uh red shiner nose going.
He looked like Rudolph out there. ROBERTA asks a rather
interesting question. I don't know if I buy into this

(37:57):
or not, But she said, please tell me why NFL
teams often stopped playing with thirty to forty seconds to go.
I've seen comebacks with hail Mary's interceptions, great runs and grit,
maybe because you don't want injuries in a probable losing effort,
but very disappointing your take. Well, in fairness the Jets
and did you try to continue to play and it
cost him a couple of points? But I don't know.

(38:19):
We we saw a few hell Mary attempts, right, or
at least a couple few crazy plays. No, absolutely, I
mean if if if it's like a two possession, um,
you know, and there's seconds left, there's no reason to
go and put it on out. But as long as
you have a chance to pull it on out, you
continue to the to the what's the rings to the
gunfires off I like this from Paul, who writes, I'm

(38:41):
glad the offense made the playoffs so Steven Ross can't
fire Napoleon Dynamite and hire Sean Payton. Boy. It's kind
of incredible how quickly you go from man, I think
that guy might get fired too. Mike McDaniel sharp, offensive, mind,
he'll get another year. I mean, it's he was done.
I mean literally, there was a lot of people. Aren't
that the up that he was gonna be out if

(39:01):
they didn't make the playoffs in Lo and behold thinks
to the Bills and then obviously doing just enough today
with a third string quarterback, he's gonna get another year,
and I'm glad he is. I think he's gonna do
a good job next year with a healthy too. You know,
whether I wanted him back or not, really the point
he deserves to have another year back. With all the
injuries that you mentioned and two of being out for
like five six games, it's it was getting ridiculous. They've

(39:22):
had a lot of injuries. I know a lot of
teams haven't, but that doesn't mean you fire him after
one year. You gotta bring you have to have some consistency.
So I'm I'm glad he's getting another year just a
little bit, right, Um then Jason B. Diamond rites, maybe
you don't hit a team doctor, truly moronic and a
justified disqualification. Right, And I know, again, we can go
back and we'll watch it, and I'm sure that there'll

(39:44):
be some people that say, oh, you don't put a
hands on. But I don't think he like crabbed him
or anything. I just think he was like, hey man,
I'm trying to get to my guy here, and after
the week we've had with understanding the importance of athletic
trainers and team doctors, it's just I don't know, And
it's about as bad of a look I think as
you can have it is. He probably just got caught
up in the emotion. You know, obviously you're fighting for
a playoffs spots, so what can you do at that point?

(40:05):
All right, when we come back, we're gonna have to
Vegas talk to Todd Furman. But we really haven't dug
our feet into Week eighteen. We had the excitement of
what the Lions did in Green Bay and knocking out
the Packers. So when we come back, we'll start diving
into to what we learned in week eighteen and more
of your tweets coming up. Our one of the books

the way tire buying should be. I have a question

(40:49):
for you. This is something I've never really understood. Why
can't it be mad? I'm happy we we we rebounded
and made the playoffs. Why does it suddenly then become, oh,
we're going to the super Bowl, We're gonna beat the Bills.
I mean, you, really, to be quite honest, have no
business making the playoffs with the way you played the
last weeks. Chris, if we're gonna go to the party,

(41:10):
we might as well hit on some of the women.
Do you understand that we're not going the party to
go ahead and stand in the corner and talk to ourselves.
If we're gonna go to the party, we're gonna be
single and likes to mingles though, get out of our way,
big boy. And two, because we played so well against
the Bills. You know you you said you don't want
to use logic. Well, you know, we we beat him

(41:32):
the first time, shouldn't beat him the second time? And
you know we kind of have their numbers. So I
feel confident um that we can go ahead and beat
them and in fairness, and I think a lot of
Bills fans would point this out. That first win they
were without six defensive starters, So I mean, I understand,
but I mean again, a lot of dudes not in
there for them, and that was kind of free when

(41:53):
two have started having his issue. Okay, the Bills have
not been world beaters. The last went three or four weeks.
It's not like they've been dominating people. So um, you
know all that together, all all those are the reasons
why I think it's gonna be it's gonna be a
good game. By the way, that line has moved from
ten when it opened. I saw one of them at
eleven and a half now, Chris, So a lot of
people agreeing with you. No, they're not, actually not. I know,

(42:17):
I'm being a smart ass. Are though. There's gamblers out
there and people that are gambling. The only reason I
bring that up is you're supposed to go with the
opposite of any way everybody else is going. So the
public is going with Buffalo. I I like Miami. I
like this idea that that Buffalo is struggling when they're
winning football games. I mean, I are are you gonna
say that the Niners haven't been all that impressive because
the Raiders took them into overtime last week. Man, it's

(42:40):
a week week league, right it is. It's a week
two week league. But again, I'm not scared of Buffalo
um with the way we played against them this year.
You gotta give me that. No, I don't have to
give me that. They have to give play in the
first game, I don't know where you're creating. What about
the second game when we were pretty much right there
until like, does a bogus call against doesn't bogus call it? Man?

(43:03):
Do you really complain about the officials a lot for
someone who doesn't let anyone else complain about the officials. Listen,
there's too much good things going on tonight for you
to sit here and talk about the Dolphins all night long.
Do I need to take the night off? You've been called? No,
are your boy Husky to come in and you guys
can just sit here and talk about how great the
Dolphins are. I mean, because I will. I'm tired. I
can go. We've not been in the playoff since you

(43:26):
understand it's been six six whole years, aren't it's the
third Loggust trink in the NFL. We have not been
in the bayoffs. We'll go talk to Lions fan. I mean,
my gosh, they go talk to Raiders fan right now.
They went to the playoffs last year, but as soon
as they got there, they suddenly apparently had a crappy roster.
According to Count Suckula Josh McDaniels, their head coach. I mean,

(43:47):
my gosh, um, but I'm happy for you, but you
you make it kind of unbearable because you just don't.
You don't you don't just say, hey, I'm happy we're
the playoffs. Will see when you get something done, it's
like super Bowl. That's no one's stopping us. That's the
loser mentality that that's the That's like one of our producers,

(44:09):
Chris Perfett, who says, oh the lines, I'm just happy
that we're about well, good for you. That's not good
enough for me. Okay, Like I said, if I'm gonna
if I'm gonna go into the restaurant, I want to
eat whatever I want to eat. Don't put me on
a die get out of my way. Yeah, and again
you'll have a heart attack and die because of high cholesterol.

(44:30):
I mean, you've got to stop. Every now and then,
I think, you know what, maybe I shouldn't go with
the double meat with bacon and mayo on it. Sure
I want to eat it, but maybe I shouldn't at
this point. Just enjoy your team being your My point is,
you're setting yourself up for disappointment. When was the last
playoff game your team one? Do you? Even though I

(44:50):
said like two years ago or something like, it was
two thousand, you beat the Colts and then got smoked
shut out by the Raiders the following week. You've been
to the play offs now three times now, making it
four times since, and in every single game you've been
beaten by at least three scores. That's why, now you
know why I'm so excited about this one. You're not excited.

(45:13):
You're you're you're setting yourself up for more disappointment. If
you were excited to be like, hey, let's go, we're
the playoffs, let's see what we can do, you're like, oh,
we're going to the super Bowl. We're gonna kill the Bills.
Week we're one and one against him. My wife's already
sick of hearing from me, and it hasn't even been
like an hour but you're talking about the game. I
know how she feels, all right, So let's drill into
Week eighteen with Arty and playing care Fox Sports Radio,

(45:34):
and as always, we want to remind you to tune
into Fox Sports Radio's Countdown to Kickoff, presented by bet
MGM Sunday morning, three hours before kickoff. They went Cincinnati
today on the launch of the new sports book. There
I looked awesome. Tune in on Sunday morning, tiny Ster
that's tin M Eastern will take you live all the
way to kick Off in Fox Sports Radio and the
I Heart Radio app presented by bet MGM. Now, for

(45:55):
the most part, Week eighteen has essentially just become Artie
what Week seventeen was before we added the extra week.
I mean, it literally is teams that have nothing to
play for resting their starters, and understandably so, but I
mean I thought we got a little bit of juice
near the end of the witching hour at the end
of that that morning session with what your Dolphins were

(46:16):
trying to do, and the Patriots were trying to come
back and Matt Jonestows to pick in the end zone,
and then the Bengals and the Ravens was getting interesting.
You had the Texans and the Colts battling for the
one scene. I swear I watched Red Zone all morning.
I never even remember them going to the Panther Sates
game that that game really happened. But are you sure? Okay, okay,
because I see a final here, but I don't remember

(46:36):
seeing anything from it. But I gotta say, Arnie, for
all the backup quarterbacks that we saw playing today, I
thought what was wrapping up that morning session was pretty awesome.
In the NFL this morning, Um, you know, I'll be
honest with you, Chris, it was. I was very disappointed,
um with the matchups. First of all, there wasn't a
lot of games where winner takes all and gets on in.

(46:56):
You had one on Saturday, but and too. Maybe I
didn't do a very good job of this, but I
mean I was so confused, who's playing, who's not playing? Who?
Who's who could move up in the rankings, in the seatings,
who can't move up? I mean, which game is insignificant?
Who who's playing? Guys? Even though it means nothing, it
was it was kind of crazy out there, all kinds
of backup quarterbacks and third string quarterbacks. Uh, I've never

(47:20):
seen it so so crazy like that before your Week
eight teen starters included names like Anthony Brown for Baltimore
and Nathan Peterman for so I still don't know Nathan Peterman.
Nathan Peterman in Chicago, Skyler Thompson obviously in Miami, the
Giants started Davis Webb. David Blow started for Arizona. I
still thought he was on Detroit. Indy started Sam Ellinger
today and actually, you know, one of the things I

(47:42):
took away from today was that Sam Hall look pretty good.
The North Carolina product who finally only got a chance
to play in the final week of the season in Washington,
went out and beat up on the Cowboys. I'll push
back a little bit. And maybe I was too invested.
I thought even the game that was a meaningless I
thought the Texans and Colts was fast nating, knowing that
what your battle. Yeah, the number one pick, it's a

(48:04):
big deal. And I wonder if it was a big deal.
Absolutely yeah. I wonder if Levy Smith loses that, if
he still has a job. I wonder if yeah, good question,
because um, even if he loses, maybe they take their
time firing him. But it was kind of like a
big blank You're not only making the score. I'm gonna
go for two points. We're gonna win this game. And
you're not gonna get the number one pick. Ha ha.

(48:24):
That's what you get. You're gonna fire me, and you're
gonna pay me off for three years left on the contract.
So um yeah, good for him when he went out
the door. I could sit here and complain about not
playing anyone and and how brutal some of the games were.
But as I'm saying, I got NFL network up and
I'm watching highlights of the Chargers game and in a
game that was completely meaningless for them. You know, they

(48:45):
had their playoff seating set. You know, they they lose
Mike Williams, which was gonna be criticized for that or
they not. I'm like, what the hell are they doing? What?
And they pulled their quarterback with a halfway uh through
the fourth quarter or something like that, I'm what, what's
going on here? Yeah? It was pretty bad. I mean
and by the way, I I like that Denver builds

(49:06):
all this moment for three in in Russell Wilson's like
twenty minute postgame press conference whenever they beat the Chargers,
who had Chase freaking Daniel. I mean literally, whenever they
it's like Chase, you have to play, you have to
take a snap and welcome up. But it's funny because
I could sit here and complain. Man, it was ugly football.
I mean, it wasn't pretty. I watched a lot of

(49:29):
your Dolphins. That was just a disgusting game. It was
it was it was I'm not gonna lie that that
was bad. And there was no turnovers to get the
cheap tust down or anything like that, no interceptions, nothing.
It was. It was miserable to watch already. While while
the Jaguars game to go back to Saturday night was fun,
that was a pretty miserable football game to watch for
the most part. But in the same vein yes, sEH,

(49:53):
Mike Williams go down for the Chargers today, you see
wanting to protect your guys, and I mean you you've
gotta be smart, and I just I don't care how
many weeks we ad. I don't care how many playoff
spots we add. I think this is always gonna be
something in the National Football League that they're going to do. Uh,
teams are gonna be smart about their guys and they
should be, because if you're in a Captain obvious, hey

(50:15):
welcome to Captain Obvious with Chris Plank. But already you
got nothing to play for. Why risk losing your dudes,
I mean big loss for the charge and that we're
supposed to have more meaningful games, you know, we even
we're trying to get the meaningful game on the Sunday night,
and it turned out Detroit had nothing to play for it.
It just kind of worked out that way. Usually it's
not like it's usually we have more intriguing matchups and um,
winner plays their way in, losers on their way out.

(50:38):
We had very little of that, so it was very
very It kind of sucked there at the end. But
you know what, it's okay, we got You know, people
are completing about the playoff matchups. I'm reading out your
wetter going, Oh they're not very intriguing. Oh my god,
I'm not so sure about that. I'm pretty much like
in three or four of those matchups there, well, I'm
I'm looking here. I'm just trying to do a quick
math in my head, like literally, of uh sixteen games

(51:01):
that were played well in fourteen today, only half of
them really had significant impact on the playoffs and in
some instances they needed something to happen in order for
them to be relevant. Right, the Seahawks game was was
a big win for Seattle, but in the same vein
it didn't really matter unless the Lions wouldn't beat the Packers.
And of course, again we don't get need to get

(51:21):
into the new shove it. But the bottom line, more
than anything else is for two and into twenty three, aren'ty.
It didn't create this dramatic weekend team like well, it
felt like we had last year to a certain degree
with the Raiders Chargers wrapping up in one of the
best games of the year, that crazy game that nearly
finishing a tie on Sunday night football. So we didn't
We certainly didn't get that same thing with the Dolphins. Dolphins,

(51:42):
even with a win, um, they had to make sure
that the Patriots were gonna go ahead and uh and losing.
You know, that was still a little bit and down
towards the end of the game. There also, all right,
a couple of quick tweets before we grab a break
in Todd firm and joins us anything else from Week
eight team though, that really kind of caught your eye.
I mean, we no day night game. We have the
National Championship game that we'll talk about the playofficers set,

(52:03):
and you had the two Saturday games. I'm still very
much confused how Josh McDaniels couldn't take offense to a
team doing ring around the rosy. But the guys are dope,
so I'm not surprised that he didn't. I'm I'm confused.
What's going on with the Ravens. I wonder what's going
on with Lamar Jacks as he really heard or is
he not coming back for a contract. Is it a
combination of both. Is somebody gonna give me the answer here?

(52:25):
What the hell's going on with with with him and
the Ravens? And can I give you just a theory?
You don't know? Answer? I don't. I don't know the answer, No,
I don't. This is a theory. I think he's really hurt.
I think he could play, but I also think that
the Ravens were in a situation to where, you know,
they knew they couldn't win their division anymore, and so

(52:45):
they just decided to to go ahead and rest him
another week. I think he'll play next weekend. I saw
a couple of guys on Twitter that that hit us
up and felt like the reason that you see since
Baltimore in prime time next Sunday night is the idea
that you're going to see Lamar Jackson. I mean, I'm
so sure about that. I'm not either. I don't know.
They're not coming out and saying anything like, Okay, he's
not gonna be able to make this game, but we're

(53:07):
pretty sure he'll be able to start first. In the point,
we're getting none of that, you know, none of it,
none of it. I'll say this. Uh. The the other
thing that kind of stood out to me from Week
eight team is the Steelers turn it around and ended
up having a pretty nice year. Now, I know, in
your mind this is a loser's mentality because they're they're
nine and eight, but when you consider that this team
was sitting in a situation where they were what two

(53:27):
and six at one point, and again we could argue
probably should have lost a Vegas on a Saturday night,
probably should have lost in Baltimore last week, but they
just they found ways to win. And again it looks
like they have their guy, you know, Kenny Pickett looks
like he's gonna be there. Guy. He's not good for
three quarters, but then all of a sudden the fourth quarter,
he's like Ben Roethlisberger rookie season. So I Mike Tom look,

(53:51):
did it again? Oh he did fan the losing record
yet so he he fitised his nine and ay that
you know again I've been hard on Picket. I'm like, God,
this guy's gonna be able to do it. That's back
when they had a losing record, he really turned it around.
Um again, though, I have to give him another year
to to go ahead and see what he's gonna be
able to do. And he deserves another year, to be honest, Chris,

(54:11):
He's he deserves that shot based on the way they
finished this year. Okay. And then one of the things
just I wrote this down while I was watching today,
did you get more kind of relief? And okay, the
Eagles are gonna be okay now that Jalen hurts his
back or was it a little bit more concerning because again,
I know it's been a couple of weeks he's out,
but man, he he looked rusty to me. He missed

(54:33):
a lot of throws, threw a pick, got sacked three times. Uh,
didn't even average what two yards to carry? I mean
it was like one point two. So I know they
get another week off with the buy, but I don't.
I don't know if I came away feeling any better
about Philly with Jalen back if if what I saw
from Philadelphia is what they're gonna do in the playoffs.
The best team right now in the NFC is either

(54:54):
San Francisco or Dallas. I mean, you take your pick
number one or number two based on the way I
saw Philide. If you play today, give me San Francisco
every day and twice on Sunday. But when we come back,
I'll talk to Todd fer him and will talk to
Todd from about it. On a busy Sunday night from
the tire rack dot Com Studios, It's Arnie in Plank
on Fox Sports Radio. Oh, let's roll for the tire

(55:15):
rack dot Com Studios with Arnie Spanier on Chris Plank.
We are pumped to be joined Barronman in Vegas, Todd
Firm and Todd. How about Dan Campbell on those Lions tonight? Huh.
Keep the plight going out there and doing what a
lot of people gave them no chance to do, rolling
into Lambo ending the Packers postseason dreams, and you'd only

(55:36):
like to have seen it played out a little bit
differently if the NFL had had this game in the
standalone time slot on Saturday Night, or had played it
side by side with the Seahawks and Rams. But credit
to the Lions, they didn't play like a team that
had been eliminated. About forty five minutes before the game
kicked off, were a lot of people on green Bay
on this one. I know what people kind of we're
loving the Lions, but I mean green Bay at home

(55:57):
with the playoffs on the line, I'm I'm sure that
a lot of people put their money on them, and
you saw that number really take off. I mean, people
were keeping tabs on what was going on between the
Rams and Seahawks. One that game went final with Seattle
winning in overtime. Green Bay and Detroit was bet all
the way up to six. And that's where professional betters
when no, no, no, no, no, this isn't what this
number should be doing. You end up seeing a two

(56:18):
point move towards Detroit about forty five minutes before kickoff.
Some books got as low as three and a half,
and professional betters were rewarded knowing this game should never
have been more than a field goal, but the gravity
of the situation impacted number the mystique lambo and like
we always say, if a team has to win Week eighteen,
they ain't that good for the first seventeen weeks, and
it showed up today in a number of spots that

(56:39):
I feel like I have some version of this question
every single week, which magnifies how challenging it is to
do what you do. But how even more frustrating slash
challenging is it when you go into a week where
names like Sam Howe and David Blow are starting at quarterback.
You just don't know what kind of effort you're gonna
get from teams when they have nothing to play for.
In some instances, you're always trying to identify which teams

(57:02):
are overvalued or undervalued understanding the situation, and a lot
of it. In Week eighteen, you see major line moves.
I mean some of these games moved upwards of eight
to nine points. The greatest illustration of that was the
Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers opened
as a field goal favorite earlier this week end up
closing as a six and a half point underdog. The game,

(57:22):
of course ends thirty eight, but the Chargers play their
starters a lot longer than any of us anticipated. You
saw the Buccaneers and Falcons game open one, get bet
up to nine, get down to three, close at six.
So there's a lot of moving around. But for all
the opportunities you have to jump out in front of
a line move, say, for example, in the Cincinnati Bengals
in lay six, you may think you're sealing something laying forward.

(57:43):
The Dallas Cowboys and the typical cowboy fashion they decided
showing up for Week eighteen didn't really go with their DNA.
Don how many people have the Dolphins minus three and
a half and didn't know that they got a safety
on that last play. They didn't. They didn't put it
up right away. Todd, you know it's funny, aren'ty. I
actually had the Dolphins win total over eight and a
half from earlier in the year and thought this was
gonna be a rocking chair given how they'd started. And

(58:05):
obviously you have to grind out every week. You can
never start to count your money until it's officially in
the bank. And today when that number got up to four.
I came back over the top at a smaller position
on the Jets plus four. Watched that game, sat alongside
my better half. We both see the safety, they don't
post it to the scoreboard, and I go, no, I've
seen this storyline before. We're gonna give it ten of
fifteen minutes, and sure enough, the right call was made.

(58:26):
Eleven and six ultimately becomes the final. But it didn't
sit any better with a potential middle that I thought
I had brewing for myself. Goodness, how how much movement
could we see based on the status of two guys
in two and Lamar Jackson during this week? I think
we look at those two quarterbacks. There's no doubt that
oddsmakers have relatively strong opinions, and we can start with

(58:47):
Arnie's beloved Dolphins, who are eleven point underdogs. That number,
to me tells me that they're working under the assumption
that to us probably to miss this game once he
was officially downgraded. If that were the case, this number
will continue to leak out in Buffalo's favor. And you
also have a total that's significantly lower, suggesting Skyler Thompson
or even Teddy Bridgewater at forty three and a half

(59:07):
because when you look back on the total, we played
in inches of snow between Miami and Buffalo and you
had a higher total in this and we know what
kind of fireworks run full display. Now the Ravens and
Bengals game is a lot different storyline. I mean, this
is a number that's pretty much six and a half
painted across the board. You saw some books open as
low as five and a half, and this number suggests
that books really don't know who the Ravens starting quarterback

(59:28):
will be. Uh And for me, quite personally, i'd love
to see them upgrade Lamar, make a slightly stronger case
to the Bengals, or maybe go under the total, because
the thing about Lamar is he hasn't even practiced over
these last couple of weeks. Unfortunately for Lamar Jackson, he's
not Alan Iverson and practice does mean something in the
NFL this time of year. So if you think that
two is coming back, you should jump on the Dolphins now,

(59:50):
and even jump on them for money. Wine. Maybe I'm
not sure that far any unless you guys are picking
up a brand new legion of boom secondary. You know,
Richards Irman can dust off some of his abilities. You
had cam Chancellor Earl Thomas, then maybe they have a
little bit more of a puncher's chance to slow down
this Bill's attack. But Buffalo score today against New England
rather misleading. They of course have those two kick return

(01:00:11):
for cutdowns from the heem Hines Josh Allen converts too
improbable third and long. So I don't think all is
well with Buffalo right now and everything that they have
going on. And if TWA did play, I think they
have more than a puncher's chance to cover as a
double digit dog. I'm not sure I'm as bold to
say they can go up to Orchard Park, New York
and when outright comes Sunday afternoon, a couple more time
to let you get out of here. I do want

(01:00:32):
to shift to the college game tomorrow night. Obviously, my
big twelve homerism leads me to believe TCU can hang.
It's a big number, and that's a very motivated Georgia team. Honestly,
neither one of these teams played all that great last
week in TCU in Georgia. But what's kind of the
gut telling you a less than twenty four hours away
from the start of this one. I'd love another instant classic.
I'd love a competitive four quarter fight. But honestly, Chris,

(01:00:54):
I just can't find a way to make a case
for TCU. I'll plus the points in this particular spot.
When you look at everything that Michigan does, Georgia does
what Michigan does, they just do it better with better athletes,
more depth, and the question marks we had about Michigan defensively,
there wasn't a whole lot of star power. You could
see Jim Harbaugh desperate looking for answers. You're gonna see
Georgia do everything they can to try and take away

(01:01:18):
what you've seen from Quentin Johnson. They're gonna make other
players beat you. And I think no Kendry Miller is
a big loss. If it's a mel de Mercado that's
got to take on a lion share of the rushes,
Georgia more than happy to defend that with a light box.
And I think this is a Georgia offense that's gonna
wear down that TCU defensive front. They'll run right into
the teeth of that three three five and will open
up some play action opportunities for the tight ends and

(01:01:38):
more importantly for Georgia, the receiving corps trending in the
right direction, finally getting healthy. I think Georgia wins this
game by North that two touchdowns. Todd tell me if
I'm on the wrong reasoning here, I'm sure you will.
But if I, let's say I get if I'm getting
Kansas City at three to want to win the Super Bowl,
that was to go ahead and play two games at home.
Now they're gonna have to play what one home game,
one neutral sight game? Possibly? Should I get like four

(01:02:01):
to one? Now? Shouldn't the odds change a little bit
of my favor though? It'll be interesting to see what
oddsmakers elect to do. But they're not going to drift
that price tag out too far any because there is
a chance that Kansas City still made play all of
their games that aarrowhead, depending on the opponent. So you
never want to try and create value that you don't
need to for betters, because if you have moving a
number and inflated a little bit too much, you'll see

(01:02:21):
folks buying up that particular stock rather quickly. Uh And
instead they may be more than happy to try and
entice action on some of the other teams in the
a f C if they have liability go in any direction.
I can tell you the team that's seen probably the
most movement at least over the last couple of weeks
from betters that I respect, the Chargers. You could have
had them at to one to win the a f C.
That number has come down, but obviously given Brandon Staley's

(01:02:43):
interesting personnel choices today, those numbers could potentially take a
hit if Mike Williams isn't available for their trip to
Northern Florida next Saturday. Bet the Board podcast check it out,
Todd let me home. Were out one question before we
get out of here, who's the next quarterback in Vegas?
And will we actually get Raider fans in Allegiance Stadium
or will it always get taken over? Well, you know what,
here's the thing about Mark Davis. I think he chose

(01:03:04):
a very interesting time to criticize some of the Vegas fans.
And as we look at the entertainment landscape out here,
there are a bevy of options. And if you're not
going to do things to ingratiate yourself to the community,
and it's not taking shots at Mark of the Raiders organization,
it's always going to be a bit problematic. Let's not
kid ourselves. NFL tickets are significantly more expensive than going
to other sporting events, and when you go to a

(01:03:24):
Night's game, it's predominantly Nights fans, even when they're playing
Original six opponents. When you're playing an NFL game once
a week on eight Sundays in your home building, it's
always going to be an attractive proposition for opposing fans
to come. And I can tell you right now when
you look at that Raiders home schedule. Outside the division,
the Pittsburgh Steelers are going out number the Silver and Black.
The Jets and Giants will be a similar situation. And

(01:03:45):
I'm interested to see if the Raiders decide to go
after stop Gap and Tom Brady. It may sell tickets,
but Chris, it doesn't help the franchise move in a
positive direction. All right, Buddy, enjoy the games from all night.
Always appreciate your perspective, have a great week. Times always
a pleasure. Hardy, Hey, that's what I was gonna say.
If you know we're talking this time next week and
your dolphins are still living in breathing like a fish

(01:04:06):
out of water, I'll be damn impressed. Two is gonna play.
By the way, Todd, he's gonna play. You got a
direct line to his doctor and the neurologists. There are
kind of authority we're working on here, Arnie. Can I
quote you as a source? I stayed in a holiday
and express last night. Trust me, he's gonna stay. He's
gonna play. Chris, you're doing the Lord's work. Every Sunday
you work with Arnie, and every show that you get

(01:04:26):
through unscathed, another angel gets its wing. I appreciate that
time to talk to you. Soon that somebody Todd for
a minute, and Dodd, I need recreational weed and quickly.
All right, ladies and gentlemen. Steve de Seger has been
hanging out all night long watching the wire if that's
even still a thing, and breaking news left and right.
What's going on, Steve? You know Todd mentioned that the
fan bases of the Steelers and the Packers will be

(01:04:49):
in Vegas next season. It is official. Every team now
knows who their opponents are home and away. The actual
schedule won't come out for months, dates and things like that,
but we know the appall. It's for sure because this
regular season is done. Yes, Pittsburgh and Green Bay will
each be in Vegas next season. Jets and Giants as well,
Minnesota and New England will each be at Vegas. The

(01:05:11):
Miami Dolphins will be hosting the Dallas Cowboys next year,
and the Miami Dolphins will be hosting the Las Vegas
Raiders next season two. If only there could be a
show trip to that, that would be fantasm with Vermont.

(01:05:36):
Right thinking, with the season ended, we know who's in
the playoffs, and we know when those playoff games are
next weekend. The Green Bay's outs Packers lost at home
tonight to Detroit sixteen. We knew the Lions were out
of the playoff picture because of today's Seattle overtime wins.
So the Seahawks state alive and find out tonight they're

(01:05:58):
in Seattle at San Francisco in the first playoff game
Saturday afternoon on Fox TV. For a moment, I thought,
did we have any teams with losing records in either
conference making in And the answer is Tampa Bay didn't
play its starters the whole game the day and Mike
Evans did not play due to illness, and the Bucks
lost at Atlanta although they had a halftime lead. So

(01:06:21):
Tampa Bay. Yeah, Tom Brady finishes with a losing record
this year eight and nine, but they do get as
division champion a home playoff game. I repeat the day
I'm commissioner. That's maybe the first rule change I make.
If you're eight and nine, sure you're a division champ,
you get in. You've earned something. You can't host a
playoff game with a losing record for crying out loud.

(01:06:42):
Cowboys lost six at Washington today, so the Cowboys will
open the postseason at Tampa Bay next weekend on a
Monday night. I mentioned Seattle is the last team in
at nine and eight. Detroit, with the win tonight, did
finish nine and eight, but Seattle wont at Detroit during
the season and last team in in the a f C.
The Miami Dolphins beat the Jets eleven to six, got

(01:07:04):
the last playoff spot Dolphins at nine and eight, but
a Pittsburgh one today. Pittsburgh finished nine and eight. While
Miami beat Pittsburgh had the head during the season. By
the way, keep in mind the teams that have those
top seeds, like the Eagles one today. Eagles clinched the
number one seed in the NFC and a first round
by the divisional schedule is not out yet. Next weekend

(01:07:25):
it will be Philadelphia hosts the lowest remaining seed on
divisional weekend, which means it's very likely Eagles will host
either Dallas or the Giants, an opponent from their own
division once they do start the postseason. Kansas City as
the number one seed, could be hosting the Chargers on
divisional weekend as things go. And yes, Casey, if it's

(01:07:48):
k C Buffalo, that would be a neutral site a
f C championship game. Boy the Buffalo Bills. They had
won at Casey this year. Short, we gotta win that
buff then we gotta win in Kansas City. Kansas City
as the number one seed plays the lowest remaining seed,
which will be Mimi. Then the Miami as the seventh seed,

(01:08:09):
could be out quite quickly. As we've been talking about
two tough games. Buffalo won at seventh straight game we
eliminating New England. I mentioned the Miami wins, Cincinnati beat Baltimore.
Bengals will host Baltimore again next Sunday night. Minnesota gotta
win today. Vikings will host the Giants Sunday on Fox TV. Well,

(01:08:29):
we can talk about how complicated other banks make it
to redeem credit card rewards. That we could talk about
how we discover you can redeem your rewards for cash
in any amount at any time. Talk about amazing learn
more discover dot com slash redeem rewards terms apply as
for the College football National Championship game in l A
tomorrow night, where the Rams won the Super Bowl a
year ago. Remember TCU start running back Kendrick Miller did

(01:08:52):
say he has a sprained MCL that he's questionable for
the game. We'll see TCU against undefeated and number one
ranked Georgia. The Bulldogs were rank number three in the
preseason polls. Alabama and Ohio State were one two. TCU
was not in the preseason Top twenty five, didn't get
a single vote. Georgia and final note NBA Brooklyn edge

(01:09:14):
Miami one oh two, one oh one. The Nets have
won eighteen of their last twenty games. Franchise is best
ever twenty games. Stretch late put back got him the win.
Kyrie Irving had twenty nine points, but Kevin Duranda the Nets,
left with a knee injury. Someone fell into him. Back
to you all right, Thanks Steve as we come to
you live from the tie rack dot com studios. Yeah,

(01:09:35):
I'm glad Paul brought this up on Twitter, which is
the best way to stay we get that's the one
you gotta read. Well, No, because I think it's a
fair point. He writes, You take Dallas over the Eagles,
aren't he because the Eagles didn't look good in the win?
But you'll take the Cowboys after they got crushed by Washington.
Please make it makes sense? Well, because Dallas was getting

(01:09:55):
excuse me, because Philidelph he was getting their quarterback for
the first time, and in how many weeks did he
look lud? Now I'm thinking to myself, well, I mean,
what's gonna happen when the playoffs come around. I've got
some doubts there right now. Yeah, Dallas did get crushed,
and you make a good point. I will say that,
but um, you know, Dallas goes ahead. I think they
got a very easy first round. So um, even though
it's on the road, I think they'll have no problem

(01:10:17):
with Tampa. It's very easy. It's on the road against
Tampa and Tom Brady. That doesn't concern you at all,
Or you didn't know that Tampa was eight nine I
didn't know. You must you must have missed a year
this year. But I mean your your love for Tom
Brady and you're just talking that's my Cowboys though, come on, man,
all right, well, I'm just I'd be really nervous right

(01:10:38):
now if I was a Cowboy fan, not because of
this game, because of Arnie's confidence in you right now,
that would scare the absolute hell out of me. I'm
not gonna lie. You saw the line in that game
the Cowboys Tampa. I sent it to you. I didn't
look at it. What was it? You want to take guests?
So I'd probably say Dallas by four a good guest
that was minus three. So it goes to show you

(01:10:59):
there really six seven point favorite. But as you're getting
three or four for home field and then you know
it's mine is three. So um, they're pretty much saying
on a neutral site that that will will be about
a six seven point favorite. Well, I'm just saying in
Tom Brady's farewell to Tampa, Um, I think the I
think they're gonna play, well, there's it's on Monday gets

(01:11:19):
farewell to the Patriots. Come on, now, you don't you
don't you think he's gonna come back next year. But
it's not the same thing. It's not the same emotional
tear jerker there. Come on, I'm not trying to say
it is. I'm just saying it's his final game. And
you're dismissing Tampa. I mean, you're an absolute fanboy from Brady,
so I gotta be honest with you. I'm kind of
surprised that you're just baring them the squid. If I

(01:11:42):
hear you say one good thing when Brady comes to
the Raiders, I'm I'm gonna lose my marbles on you.
I won't say one good thing when Brady comes to
the Raiders because hey, Brady's not coming to the Raiders.
And be Josh McDaniels is gonna be fired when he
doesn't get Tom Brady to come to the Raiders. I'm
so looking forward to that day. Alright. Couple of their
tweets here, This is actually someone that agrees with you.

(01:12:02):
So if you want me to read the guy that disagrees,
here's Alan, who writes, consider Buffalo's depleted secondary that Mac
Jones feasted on today. They did. That's a great point there, Alan,
Miami with Tua can beat Buffalo and a fair game.
Problem is the game won't be a fair game. NFL
want allow the Bills to lose in the first round.

(01:12:22):
It's not their agenda and a bad storyline. I told
you that number one thirty on the Bills, um with
the black and white jersey. He he's too much to
handle for us. I I he always coined the penalties
on the Dolphins, and um, it just it just sucks
the life on Himus and he's just too much to overcome,
you know, U C. A Dodger Frank writes. Would the

(01:12:43):
NFL really put Ravens Bengals in prime time unless they
expect Lamar Jackson to play? Uh? Again, I don't think
they have a feel for it. I really don't. I
don't think that there's any hidden inside information that the
NFL has. I just I think they probably wanted to
put it in primetime him tonight. I think they probably
wish that game would have been for the a f

(01:13:03):
C North and that they could have put Ravens Bingals
in prime time tonight. But I don't stink that would
factor into it, do you know? But maybe ask you
a question, what is the best slot for TV ratings
right now? I mean what's the one that said, Okay,
we have to have our best game out of the
six slots right now, it's none of the Saturday games,
right That's that's just you know, uh throwaways, that's you

(01:13:26):
don't really care about that. I would, well, you know
what I mean. It's not like the Sunday is the
biggest thing to keep You keep saying prime time with
the Ravens and Bengals to be prime time is the
first two games on Sunday Dolphins, Bills, Giants, Vikings. Those
are the prime time ones. Joe. Again, I say prime
time because it's played in prime time, but those are

(01:13:46):
the big slots there, you know what I'm saying. So
you think noon Central one Eastern on CBS and the
three thirty four thirty slot on Fox is a bigger
deal than the most watch show on TV, which is
Sunday Night Football, Well they're gonna get the ratings no
matter who they put on Sunday Night Football. That doesn't
make a difference. I mean, they can put any of
the two teams there. It could have been you know,
the Chargers in Jacksonville and they'll still draw pretty well there. Okay,

(01:14:11):
I just to me, I don't think, bottom line, there's
any insider information to put Baltimore on in a prime
time game, even though I guess these aren't the prime
time games because they don't involve the Dolphins. This show man,
all right, when we come back, some good tweets, But
Steven Sager has got a lot of notes and tidbits
that will share next here on Fox Sports Radio. All right,

(01:14:33):
it's already in playing on a Fox Football Sunday. We
don't get to say that much often, now, right, a
couple weeks of the playoffs and then boom, this becomes
a Major League Baseball and NBA show. Right, Your your
football life is over? Now done? Right? Anyway, Steven Sager
comes rolling into the tire rack dot Com studios and

(01:14:53):
we're brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive and makes
a bundling easy and affordable. Get a multi hi policy
discount by combining your motor, motorcycle, RV, boat, a TV
and more all your protection in one place. Bundle and
save a Progressive dot Com. What's up, Steve? Oh? Maybe
the ratings bonanza that is wild Card Weekend starts for

(01:15:15):
the NFL next weekend. Keep in mind that as we've
talked off it on this show. Yes, Sunday Night Football
is the top show in TV in the prime time ratings,
which are the ones that get you the most at
you know, the seven days a week. You can certainly
like on Thanksgiving or the late afternoon Sunday slot get
a larger number with some games than a Sunday Night Football.

(01:15:39):
Last year, because the Cowboys were in the late Sunday
slot for wild Card weekend, you had the three games
on Wild Card Sunday. You had the first game with
Tom Brady got thirty million, and then you got the
Cowboys got forty million viewers, and then it went back
to about thirty million for the Sunday night game with
the Chiefs. The two Saturday games live year got about

(01:16:00):
twenty seven million, and the Monday night game got less
than that. But this year, guess the Monday night game
is Dallas, so they're gonna get far greater audience than
they usually get on Monday Night. They're gonna put it
not only on the cable channel on ABC. They're gonna
have a Manning cast, They'll have it in Spanish, they'll
add it all up and chitching all the way to
the bank. As for the matchups, We've got Fox TV

(01:16:24):
curiously with the exact same kickoff time Saturday and Sunday
to playoff games next weekend on Fox, including the opener
from San Francisco hosting Seattle four thirty pm Eastern time.
That's coming up Saturday, and in California, it's due to
start raining again tomorrow and all week and it is
due to still be raining in San Francisco next Saturday.

(01:16:45):
Just for the record beat down as far well, they
already have beaten them down twice. I mean there a
division opponent and in San Francisco technically Santa clar early
season Niners beat him twenty seven to seven, and then
they played a Matt Seattle mid December in a Thursday
night game. It was twenty one three at one the final.

(01:17:07):
And we mentioned this last year on the show at
one point that usually when you go to and oh
against a team and then you have to play him
a third time, usually the better team wins the third
time as well. To go three and oh, I mean
the Niners losing blowing the NFC championship to a Rams
team they'd already beaten. That was the outlier that happened

(01:17:28):
last year. It's certainly a better than fifty fifty that
if you went to and oh against them already, you
beat them a third time. That has been at least
the history. As for the weather of the Saturday night
game at Jacksonville, it says HI a fifty five low
of thirty three, so somewhere in between there. The Chargers
will be in that weather outdoors with a kick off

(01:17:49):
of eight pm Eastern Town satur I will be here
all weekend and I'm not giving them the boy. We
had fun with that comment last night on the show
Arnie as if you carry any power in these always.
By the way, with the Charger slash Ram Stadium hosting
the college championship game tomorrow, I did mention on last

(01:18:10):
night's show that with the weather going back to rain
in l A tomorrow, it won't affect the college game
because you have that translucent roof over the artificial turf
that they'll be playing on for TCU Georgia tomorrow night,
by the way, and that is a great kicking environment.
It does. It's it's open at the ends. If it's
raining outside, it got immediately cold a couple of weeks

(01:18:31):
ago there, so I'm not saying that it's it's like
you're playing outdoors in Tampa Bay or anything like that.
But it's not gonna be rating on the game tomorrow.
But when we got this final schedule for the NFL
playoffs next weekend, somebody pointed out, okay, four teen total
playoff teams, half of them missed the playoff last year.

(01:18:52):
So yet again, the NFL the mode by far the
most popular sport in this country. And this is one
of the re Sin's why, because fans feel my team
always has a chance. You've got a Chargers Jaguars playoff
matchup Saturday night. Guess what they both missed the playoffs
last year, Giants against Vikings. They both missed the playoffs.

(01:19:13):
All six matchups next weekend our rematches of regular season
games I mentioned earlier. And we just had Baltimore at
Cincinnati today, Cincinnati one now eight in a row. Bengals
will be hosting Baltimore again next Sunday night in the postseason.
Ravens had four turnovers today. Quarterbacks Tyler Huntley and Lamar

(01:19:33):
Jackson we're out with injuries. Jackson hasn't practiced in over
a month. So even if he comes back from the
knee injury. Keep that in mind. ESPN also says that
it's the first time ever that five new head coaches
have reached the playoffs in the same year. Kevin O'Connell
with Vikings, Doug Peterson with the Jags, and obviously Peterson

(01:19:54):
and Bolts have been head coaches before, but first year
with the team, Brian dave Ball with the Giants, Mike
McDaniel with the Dolphins, and Todd Bowls with the Bucks.
All right, when we come back after week eight teen,
we know this on Fox Sports Radio. Oh is Aaron
Rodgers gonna do it to us again? Artie's picks at
a college championship preview? All coming up in the final hour.

(01:20:16):
Here if Arnie and Plank live from the tire rack
dot Com studios, tire rack dot com, we'll help you
get there unmatched a selection, fast, free shipping, free road
hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack
dot Com the way tire buying should be. So you
came in tonight basically feeling like your Dolphins are still

(01:20:37):
going to the super like a million dollars. Now Todd
has me concerned that two is not gonna play. Um
this weekend. But I'm I'm pretty good. I'm pretty sure
he'll be there, right, I mean two weeks and you
know that's enough he's ready to get back out there.
I'm sure. Well, I I will say that I'm kind
of with Todd. I don't think he's gonna play either.
Now that you're well, you're the one that's saying he is,

(01:21:01):
So you're just as guilty of playing doctor there, Sir Spaniard.
But I mean you also you also started the show
with Lucien guy out there that has six concussions, just
rolls asked out there. Let him play. That's essentially what
you're saying. Um, yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. Get
about if he could play, if he's cleared medically, doesn't

(01:21:21):
get him out there and play. There's nothing wrong with that, No,
not at all, not at all. I mean, just do
if he doesn't play, I don't have a lot of
confidence in Skylar Thompson or Teddy Bridgewater. I think I
have more confidence in Mike Glennon, but he's not gonna
be able to get out there. So, UM, I don't
know what's going to happen at that point. It's it's
not gonna be pretty. Um if if the Dolphins don't

(01:21:42):
have to where's the Mike Glennon tweet that we had earlier?
It was so good because, oh, here goes the great
Mike Glennon, writes russef is the goat. The great Mike
Glennon Arty has a nineteen point three percent career winning
success rate while committing highway robbery of the two million
dollars a career earnings. It's even more of a finesse

(01:22:05):
than what the great JaMarcus Russell managed to pull. I
told you we wanted to get Eli back, but you
fought me on that. I can't believe that Mike Glennon
was the best we can get to come on back.
I'm just proud of you that you didn't bring up Kaepernick.
I mean, I'm kind of really surprised I didn't get
a tweet on that. Could you imagine if Kaepernick was
the quarterback to lead, if if he won to lead

(01:22:27):
Miami into the playoffs, people be going ballistic right now. Well,
you would be happy, right because absolutely you think he's
better than Skyler Thompson. But you're welcome. You're welcome, Marty,
because if it wasn't for the Big twelve in this
conference that you hate, you wouldn't be going to the
playoffs right now thanks to Skyler Thompson. Skylar Thompson was
so much better in the preseason. Remember having my preseason

(01:22:49):
Hall of Fame and and look what he's turned into.
I I need a little bit more against Buffalo though,
in the first round, and I'm I don't have a
lot of confidence in him. I don't know what's gonna happen.
If it's not gonna be too u shocking what happens
whenever people actually game plan and scheme against you, unlike
you see in the preseason. Uh And one quick one
here from leg Day Greg who writes ESP and f

(01:23:10):
P I chances are the Dolphins making a super Bowl
one per cent? The odds are plus six thousand. Should
I put money on the Dolphins to go all the way?
Are you? Absolutely? Absolutely? At six at six one? Yes?
I mean the only decision you're gonna have to make
is should I get your Should you get your new
sports car in red or black? No? I would do it.

(01:23:31):
I mean you remember that you're betting out a team
that was super Bowl potential. If everybody's healthy and too
it comes back and you're getting him at sixty two one.
I think that's a lot of value there. You also
a team that was eight and two and finished up
the season one and six. UM. I was trying to
figure out who was the biggest disappointment because real quick,
before we hit man, maybe this dives right into after

(01:23:53):
week eighteen or after the regular season. I know this. UM,
I have three five nine teams I want to talk
about here, and I'll do it. Biggest turnaround? Three teams?
Which one would you go with? Detroit was one and six,
finished the season nine and eight. Quick math, that's eight
and two down the stretch. Not bad, even though there
was an inexplicable loss there to Carolina. Pittsburgh was three
and seven, finished the season with a six and one

(01:24:16):
mark down the stretch nine and eight. Jacksonville was two
and six. They won their last five and finished their
final nine seven and two. Which team had the best
turnaround in your eyes? Well, I mean they're all tremendous,
so I don't want to minimize any of them. UM.
And you know, first of all, Jacksonville, Yeah, they went
ahead and won a division, So I that's the first

(01:24:37):
thing that sticks out to me. But then again, um,
the division wasn't all that tough, so you're you're weathering yourself. Okay,
so they got a little bit of a break there. Um,
you go ahead and see what Pittsburgh did. Well, that's
a lot better division with since that in Baltimore even
Cleveland as your last place team. So that was really
in president consider we go. I thought they were one
of the worst teams um in the a f C.

(01:24:57):
So and then when you look at the Lions again,
not a world beater or division, but it's the Lions,
and they were able to pull it around and turn
it around, and you're wonder what next year is gonna
offer him. So I would probably have to go in
say Pittsburgh was the most impressive, but Detroit not that
far behind, and Detroit not that far behind because they
had traded there tied in t J. Hockenson. All right,

(01:25:17):
So biggest implosions I didn't really have. I didn't see
a team that really just was like get nine and
two or anything like that and had the bottom drop out.
I mean, Miami was eight and two, went one and
six down the stretch, Baltimore was nine and four, only
one one of their final four games. I mean, we
could go far enough back to where Chicago was two
and one and it beat in San Francisco, and it's

(01:25:39):
opener only to go what one and thirteen? What about
what about the Jets? Where were they at one point? Uh?
The Jets? Well that's actually a pretty good one when
you think about New York. So the Jets finished, they
finished seven and ten. Oh my gosh, Okay, so at
one point that was a team that was six and two.

(01:26:00):
You that's not bad. That's not bad? Or am I
giving him one less? I'm sorry? Five and two? They
were five and two at one point, if you want
to take it a little deeper, six and three. So
they were six and three at one point and they
ended up going one and seven down the stretch. Is
that right? Oh my goodness, that's terrible. So add them

(01:26:20):
to that list. I would probably take the Jets out
of that mixed then, right, I mean, I mean, at
least in Miami and Baltimore, those are two teams that
still made the playoffs, right exactly, the Jets, I mean
and six and three. People like, oh, the Jugs are
gonna make the playoffs. The Giants are gonna make the playoffs,
and um, you know, everybody liked the way the Jets
were looking their defensively, they were fantastic, and um, kind
of all fell apart for them, you know. And it's

(01:26:41):
interesting because for me as as a Raiders fan, a
lot of those losses you look back on and you
could say, oh, my gosh, they could have should have
won that, right one, not just like one possession game,
like one point two point three point games. Um, New
York kind of has that similar field, but for some reason,
it's not the same Like a twelve loss of the

(01:27:03):
Buffalo Bills, seems like it was a much larger marching
than it actually was. Uh, even at the eleven of
six game today. I'm not just saying this because we're
working together tonight, Arnie, but I just I never really
felt like the Jets were gonna win that game. I
didn't think they're gonna be able to score a touchdown
and they didn't. Well, it was six six and they
had the ball, So I was a little bit nervous

(01:27:24):
around that. They did you really think they were gonna
go score a touchdown with what you had seen on
that at all? But they didn't need a touch on
they just needed a field goal and that you know,
it was in the fourth quarter, and I'm like, all
they need is that one play, that one completion, or
that one Miami penalty that they loved the call against
Miami every game, and I was waiting for that to happen.
No pass interference, Boy, were they just begging for passing interference?

(01:27:45):
And was driving me crazy? Long oh it was. It
was just killing me out there. So I expected something
to go wrong and just never didn't. Finally Miami got
the break in the horse collar tackle and then they
kicked the fifty yard or I wouldnt even I wouldn't
even sure they were gonna make the fifth the yard,
And to be honest with you, they did. Uh And
it wasn't even like a barely They flat out that

(01:28:06):
thing five. So biggest turnaround we all would say, are
we would kind of go between Detroit, Pittsburgh and Jacksonville. UM,
at least still, let's see one of those one None
of those three made one of those three made the playoffs.
Detroit should have. They had the three biggest implosions. Two
of those three still ended up making the playoffs. But
how about just the biggest disappointments overall rams over under

(01:28:28):
the season tentified. We did a little bit of this
last week. They finished five and twelve Arizona. Arizona's over
under was eight and a half to start this season
they go four and thirteen. Green Bay was eleven and
a half. Now not that they still won eight games,
but eleven and a half, and Denver's was nine and
a half to five games. Biggest disappointment was Denver. Um.

(01:28:52):
They were never really in this thing to begin with.
They were at the bottom of the division. They were
went five wins, so they were way off this whole thing,
and they looked a putred offensively toad. They were just
miserable at times. Um. To me, Denver has to be
the biggest disappointment. All right, it's already in Plank on
the Fox Football Sunday. We're coming to you live from
the tire Rack dot com studios and our friends over Discover,

(01:29:15):
where we could talk about how complicated other banks make
it to reading credit cards, or we could talk about
how we discover you can redeem your rewards for cash
in any amount at any time. I mean, talk about
amazing Learn more at discover dot com, Slash redeem rewards
term supply. Alright, larready regular season in the books. After
week eighteen, I know this, Where do you want to start? Well,

(01:29:37):
just one thing about the after week A team? I
know this and where we were wrong as we were like, hey,
you may have to win ten games to make the
playoffs and and there's no even guarantee there. But eventually
it all thinned out. Teams were playing each other, Um,
they were taking losses. It only took nine wins to
get you in. UM, and that was in both conferences,
so you didn't have to go ahead and have that
big tent victory and people could But what about all

(01:29:59):
the teams we're getting in in in sub five hundred?
What was only Tampa? So not that big of a deal. Um,
I think it worked out just fine. But it only
took nine wins to pretty much get you in the playoffs.
Do you just have no memory at all if any
of our conversations, do you? Because I literally said, hey,
you know you can have teams like nine and eight,
eight and nine. You're like, oh, I don't know about that.

(01:30:20):
I think it's gonna take ten and seven, eleven and
six maybe, and literally called me stupid because I brought
that up. You have no recollection of it, remember that part.
But I just kind of lumped this all in together.
You know, I will say here, here's the thing to
completely and totally agree with you. Um, who's not in
the playoffs? Are? You're like, oh, damn, they should be
in outside of maybe what Detroit I mean, and that's

(01:30:42):
a nine and eight football team. So this is one
of the case for the Packers too, that maybe they
deserve to be in the playoffs. We'll deserve or maybe
they could have been in the playoffs all well, not
after tonight, I mean after tonight, after the final. I mean,
are you sitting here banging the table for anyone else
in the NFC? That's I mean the com Anders. No,
I mean they did beat up on the Cowboys today,

(01:31:04):
but I mean, who are you sitting here going? Man?
I hate that they didn't make the playoffs in the
a f C. What maybe maybe Pittsburgh, But did you
think that they were gonna win more than one game?
If they even do that? Peter King, Joey and my
ear new Land says, oh New Orleans, yes, very good.
All right, so after week eighteen, I know this, Um,
I'm concerned if I'm a Cowboys fan, and I know
you're not, and I know they're your Cowboys, but a

(01:31:26):
lot of things bother me that looked terrible today. He
did not look smooth and he's not. This isn't something
where we can make an excuse for him, and at
least he he understood it with the ass might played,
He's like, I played like s and yes, yes, you
you absolutely did. In fact, here's a little bit more
from Dak post game after the Cowboys got pretty much
housed by the Washington Commanders today. I said, uh, yeah,

(01:31:55):
I mean fortune completions, I mean yeah, not good enough period.
So yeah, thank you, we know, but I don't know.
It's just it's a team that I'm having a hard
time figuring out. And I took this screenshot of a
tweet I saw earlier because it just seems so crazy

(01:32:15):
to me. Have you followed their trajectory this season on
what the Cowboys have done? Do this real quick. This
is from R J o Choa. I don't know if
he's one of your boys from Dallas, but lost their
opener one four and a Row lost a game one
two and Row lost a game one four and a
row lost a game one two and a row lost
a game. So does this mean that they'll win four

(01:32:37):
in a row and they'll be in the Super Bowl
and win the Super Bowl, Because that's been the weird
trajectory of their season, and I think I think that's
what's made it hard to figure out for the Cowboys,
because when they put together those losing streaks, the losses
are are frustrating and don't make a lot of sense. Right, Um,
the lost to Philly where they weren't very competitive, they
got beat by Green Bay, they got smoked by Jacksonville,

(01:33:00):
and then of course today, it just doesn't make a
lot of sense, Arenie, I'm wondering if I should worry
more about Dallas. But at least they stopped the losing
streak at one, and they turn it around, and they
game plan and and they come back with a winning streak.
They know how to go ahead and put that behind
them and and and come back in those streaks, And
you gotta give them a little credit for that. Though
I would go through that. It's not a hill I'm
willing to die on. It's something that was just kind

(01:33:20):
of percolate in the brain. And one of the notes
I wrote down, but I think I'm a little bit
more zeroed in on maybe Tampa having a chance next weekend.
All right, after eighteen weeks, I know this, and I
can't believe it's taking me this long to figure it out. Um,
and I thought maybe it was a different answer. But
as we know, the best team in the playoffs once
again the Kansas City Chiefs. That doesn't mean they're gonna

(01:33:41):
go to the super Bowl. That doesn't mean that a
Buffalo won't beat them. More Cincinnati might not go ahead
and upset them in Baltimore gets Lamar Jackson back. Who knows,
But yeah, the Kansas City Chiefs once again, better than Philadelphia,
better than San Francisco. They're the team to beat there,
the favorite out there, Chris. I mean, of all the
things things that I didn't fall for, it was people

(01:34:02):
trying to tell me that they were in trouble in
the a f C. West. I'll be there. I never
said that I was. I told you I'd seen this
play before and that they're gonna win the division and
you shouldn't question them now, I will say, just to
make Roger the engineer happy, Yes, I am utterly shocked
that they didn't skip a beat without Tyreek Hill. I'm
blown away that Patrick Mahomes number were better and for

(01:34:23):
every Kansas City Chief fan, if that's what you need
to hear, there you go. But now is when the
fund really starts. You know, Now is that moment to
where can this team not have those hiccups like they
had against Houston? Right were there in a tighter game
than they should be, or maybe not play as well
as they should against Dinner Listen, they beat the snot
out of the Raiders. But I mean, my my gosh,

(01:34:44):
it was so easy. You were playing ring around the rosie.
So bottom line here for me is hey, great, congratulations,
you were right to make you happy? Or do you
need that championship in order to truly reach your full potential?
Which is where I think Kansas City Chiefs in their
mindset should be already One more for me and I
know we're up against it and I'm trying to stay

(01:35:06):
focused on playoff teams, but after Week eighteen, I know this, man,
I don't want anything to do with San Francisco in
the NFC right now. I don't know how it's possible,
but somehow aren't. They're on their third string quarterback, and
I think he's better than the other two quarterbacks that
play this year. I don't know how that's possible. I
don't know. I don't know why that's happened. But Brock

(01:35:26):
Purty is a freaking machine. Now again, I know today
wasn't necessarily the final score was was a blowout. I
mean they won thirty eight thirteen, and I know that
there were some things that need to be cleaned up. J. J.
Watt had a big day, but in getting Christian McCaffrey rolling,
you know, we'll see what Deebo Samuel looks like going forward. Um,
they've got about a three headed monster in their backfield. Uh,

(01:35:49):
George Kittle is a problem. And I know Deebo what.
He had two catches today, so you're getting him back.
We threwout him three times to where he needs to be. Man,
I they're right now. My slam m dunk pick to
go to the Super Bowl in the NFC, And and
I love Philadelphia and I think these two teams are
gonna play in the NFC Championship Game. But Arnie, I
keep waiting for Brock Purty to have that soul crushing

(01:36:11):
mistake and it just hasn't happened, and maybe San Francisco's
defense is good enough to where they can overcome it.
A little bit of the difference there when you're playing
in the playoffs and in the regular season and he's
so raw out there. But maybe as this this brock Purty,
is he a starter next year for a team in
the NFL if they go win the Super Bowl or
at least if they win a couple of games in

(01:36:31):
the playoffs, How can he not be right? Move on
from You're gonna move on from Jimmy g because you've
got that dope in Vegas who's gonna overpaid again when
they don't get Brady. So we'll be stuck with stupid
Jimmy Garoppolos or quarterback next year, and San Francisco will
have Trey Lancer where they will still try to develop. Uh,
and then you'll have Brock Purtty. I don't even know
if it'll be a competition, Arnie. I think he goes

(01:36:53):
into next year is the starting quarterball? Oh my, doesn't he?
How can he not look how good he's I know
he only threw the ball twenty time, but he was
fifteen twenty three with three touchdowns. If you make those
type of trades, you gotta star Trey Lands, I mean
arm and a leg for the guy you've got the start.
And that's all we heard, right, I mean, you've seen
these things happen before, where the quarterback that's taken in

(01:37:15):
the first round isn't necessarily the guy. Robert Griffin the
third was drafted before Kirk Cousins, right, Um, and I
could go old school. Heath Shuler was drafted before Guts
for aud Am, I ride Washington fans is there. Sometimes
you make a mistake. Now, I'm not giving up on
Trey Lands, aren't and I think he's gonna be dynamic.
But how can how could brock perty not go into

(01:37:36):
the off season? Is their guy with what he's do Now?
If he throws three picks next week and they get
knocked out in the first round against Seattle, then we'll
have a little bit of a different conversation. But for now, man,
they are cooking and he's the main reason why. Yeah,
but how many games are we talking about here? Six
or something to that that effect. I mean, um, a
small sample sized, you know, go ahead and make this
guy the permanent starter somewhere. Bro You were ready to

(01:38:00):
give Ryan Fitzpatrick a lifetime contract after two games. I
don't think you're the one to try to preach patients
to anybody as far as well just hold on here
a little bit. I think what was the last game
for Garoppolo was that the Arizona game that they won
thirty eight to ten. I think that was his last
full game that he played. So you know you're looking

(01:38:20):
at up. You're right, a very small sample size. But
to get back to the point, man, I want nothing
to do with the forty niners in the NFC at all. Actually,
you know what he played that next week against the Saints.
They were seven and four, they won that game thirteen
is hip and then he got hurt the following week.
So very much a small sample size, but I'm in
right now on brock Purty. Alright, quick break, We've got

(01:38:42):
more your tweets after week eight teen. You know this,
plus a final update from the Saga and Artie's picks
coming up on Fox Sports Radio. Artie I completely whipped
on a team that imploded Tennessee. The Titans. Yeah, that's
a good They were seven and three and lost seven

(01:39:03):
games in a rouch out and even with as bad
as they were, and and and again. They were playing
a dude in a win or go home game that
had been on their roster for seventeen days in Joshua Dobbs.
The game last night Saturday night. Excuse me now, for

(01:39:23):
those of you in the Eastern and Central time zone,
the game Saturday night was Joshua Dobbs seventeenth day in
the Titans uniform. And he's in a winter go home
situations and they need a quarterback. They're gonna get rid
of the running back and Henry he'll be probably shipped
out there. Gonna be in complete this right. Thank you
to Dan Thomas who pointed that out on Twitter. Um

(01:39:46):
also a couple of others here off the most recent
hits on Twitter dot com. It stinking genius want him
at playing show? Jason B. Diamond Rights Mark Davis needs
to shut up. He's a trash owner bashing his fan. Really,
he expects us to spend thousands of dollars to go
to a game and not be upset. Yeah, they kicked

(01:40:06):
the dude out of the stadium that had a fire.
McDaniels sign alright, sorry, Bench McDaniels, Bench, McDaniels now, I
don't know about you. Warning. I watched every player that
stupid game on Saturday, and I don't think you can
be kicking people out in silver and black were outnumbered.
What are we doing right now? There were more, they
were more fans in red and imposing his empty seats.

(01:40:28):
So yeah, that's a mess. I had so much hope
to so much hope. Just what a terrible drug hope is.
I gotta tell you, why are you such you know,
negative on on the Raiders Because okay, it didn't turn
out the way you thought it was going to turn out.
But it isn't like you're the Texans or something like
that where you add two wins or something you know

(01:40:50):
you're right. It's worse. They went to the playoffs last
year and brought Intovante Adams and Chandler Jones and then decided,
because we're cheap asses, to sit there at Carr for
two weeks just because you don't trust your offensive line
to protect him, and then everyone loses their mind. He
got dummies are like, maybe Derek Carr is not that good.
Whenever San Francisco hadn't seen Jared Stidham, Josh McDaniels finally

(01:41:11):
called the Eastern game, and then the second week he plays.
You remember, Oh, yeah, that's why the guy's not playing
very much. He's a backup quarterback in the league. So yeah,
that's why I'm a little bit bitter about it. Arnie,
I blame myself. Hope is so dumb um. Here's a
good one from Eric who writes what I know after
Week eighteen. All I know about my Vikings. They won

(01:41:32):
the NFC North. That's it. I have very little confidence
they can do anything in the playoffs. The old line
was okay during the year. Right now on the third
center and a new right tackle. You had said throughout
all of the stations about the playoffs that regardless of
who it was, you were taking whomever the Vikings played

(01:41:55):
in the first round to beat them. Now that you
know it's the Giants, you still live in that absolutely
taking taking the Giants plus the points against Minnesota, though
Minnesota should have no excuse against this team. They're really
a better team than the line tells you everything you
want to know in this game. I would have thought
that Minnesota would be a three point favorite, better three
for home field, something like five or six. They're only

(01:42:16):
a three point favorite. They're taking. It's a pick up game. Um,
more than that of saying that the Giants, right you
probably a one point better team on on a neutral site.
I'm think I'm kind of with you on that one, Arnie.
I'm think I'm sitting there with you. I kind of
like that with the points for the Giants. But we'll see.
And then there was there was one more that I
wanted to get to because maybe we haven't talked about

(01:42:37):
it enough. Calbert writes happy retirement to J. J. Watt,
class act of a man and a future Hall of Famer.
Amen to that great guy. Just a great guy. I mean,
he's everything you want on your football team, and um,
he's gonna be solely missy. He had a fantastic career.
I was just thinking about this. That has to be
the fastest career in sports, his three does it not?

(01:43:00):
I mean, blink of and I it just seemed like
he was just coming into the just a couple of
years ago. Yeah, he had a great run. And now
you know, I don't know, maybe he sits out a
couple of weeks next year and realizes, are I miss it?
Let's go to Miami or are Buffalo or somewhere because
a dude got hurt. So I don't know, we'll see.
I don't think he's done. I think that J. J.

(01:43:22):
Watson guy that's gonna play again. But man, what a
career that he had. All right, um Arnie one final
time tonight or man. Steve Disager is here to get
his caught up on everything in the world of sports.
And we've got Aaron Rodgers cuts we need to get
to because all we're gonna do it again this offseason.
But first here's our man, Steve Disager, to wrap up
the day in sports. What's going on? Steve, by the way,
a faster career than J J. Was Ikey Woods just

(01:43:45):
for the record, that found yards rusher as a rookie
and almost never saw it again. By the way, I
heard that there were some emotional sign offs for the
two red zone channels today. Yes, I was watching. I
watched it. He got he had a little here he
eyed old many years in that Edward used to work
here many many moons ago. The NFL has a new

(01:44:07):
deal with YouTube TV. I think it's a seven year
contract that kicks in next year. So the one that
was Direct TV Sunday Ticket that will be no more.
Just for the record, there's just the YouTube deal started.
Is it just the one person Jobson does the morning
games and the other guys does the afternoon games or
something about that? I guess not. I agree, I don't.

(01:44:31):
That's a good idea as we go towards the wild
card excuse me, super wild Card weekend next weekend. As
we mentioned earlier, these are all rematches of games I
won't say that have already been played. The game hasn't
been playing, but these teams faced each other regular season.
For example, today in Cincinnati, Bengals won their eighth straight
game beat Baltimore sixteen. Bengals will host Baltimore again next

(01:44:55):
Sunday night. Now, Dallas had a very bad finale to
the regul their season today, lost twenty six at Washington.
The Cowboys will open the postseason at Tampa Bay next
weekend on a Monday night. Keep in mind Tom Brady
is undefeated in his long career against Dallas seven and oh.
That includes the first Sunday night game this season. Remember,

(01:45:16):
there were almost no touchdowns in the game. Finally, there
was a short Tom Brady touchdown past late third quarter
to make it nineteen three and that was the final.
Bucks won nineteen three at Dallas to start the season.
A bad finish, as I say, because the Cowboys today
ten first downs, ten punts, and they missed an extra

(01:45:36):
point kick as well. On the ground, combined Ezekiel, Elliott
and Tony Pollard fifteen carries twenty nine yards. Philadelphia meanwhile,
clinched the one seed in the NFC and a first
round by the Eagles fourteen and three after beating the
Giants two to nineteen. It was a nineteen nothing lead
in the third quarter. The Giants were locked into the
six seeds, so they started quarterback Davis Webb sat some

(01:45:58):
starters like Daniel Joe since Kuon Barkley. Quarterback Jalen Hurts
of Philly, who had the strange shoulder, did return, but
nine carries just thirteen yards rushing for him. He was
limited in practice this past week, but Jake Elli went
five for five on field goals and it's another Eagles victory.
Seattle went to overtime and beat the Rams nineteen sixteen

(01:46:18):
to stay alive for the last playoff spot. They needed
green Bay to lose this evening. Green Bay lost sixteen
to Detroit. That Seattle overtime when knocked the Lions out.
They had started the season one and six Detroit, four
close losses, no defense early. The reason Detroit is out
is because head to head, they hosted Seattle this year

(01:46:39):
and lost to him at October. So it'll be Seattle
at San Francisco this Saturday afternoon in the rain on
Fox TV to open the postseason. By the way, just
the ending in Seattle today. The Seahawks settled for a
short field goal to tie it with about two minutes
left in regulation. Then Seattle missed a forty six yard
or at the end of regulation that hit the upright

(01:47:00):
after Baker Mayfield's overtime interception, and he was sacked five times. Today,
Seattle drove for the game winning field goal. Packers lost
at home tonight, would have had the final wild card
berth with a win, but that's a no. They finished
eight and nine. San Francisco has won ten straight games.
They have the two seed ahead of Minnesota due to

(01:47:21):
better conference record, and Elijah Mitchell just activated had two
touchdown runs in the win over Arizona thirty thirteen. Mitchell
five carries fifty five yards, Brock Purty three touchdown passes,
Cards lost seven in a row to end the season.
The other late afternoon game was Denver Edge the Chargers
thirty one to twenty eight. Russell Wilson three touchdown passes,
one interception. The update from the injuries is that Charger

(01:47:44):
wide receiver Mike Williams left with a back injury had
to be helped to the team bust later and charge
your defensive end. Joey Bosa came out with a possible
injury after lunging for the quarterback trying for a sack.
He had just returned from injury last week. First half
linebacker Kenneth Murray exited with a stinger. Obviously, Brandon Staley,
the Charger coach, was asked about playing the starter so

(01:48:06):
long today, said, this isn't a preseason game where you
have ninety guys to choose from. You only have forty eight.
You have to go out there and you have to
feel the team. I mentioned this last night. I felt
for the last couple of weeks, if it could only
be Chargers at Jacksonville, that might be a good Chargers matchup.
Not because what most people would think, Oh, sure, the
weakest division champ. Sure, No, not because of that it's

(01:48:28):
because Jacksonville slaughtered the Chargers during the regular season in
l A beat him thirty eight to ten. You know how,
it's human nature. If we faced them already, we already
beat him, and you may lose that edge. The Chargers
were nowhere near winning this game. They really laid an
egg that day. It was the first game after the
Justin Herbert Ribs injury that he tried to play through.
Keenan Allen did not play that day. Pro Bowl core

(01:48:51):
on the offensive line, Corey Linsley didn't play that day.
It was the day that there Pro Bowl tackle for
Shawn Slater got hurt. It was the day that Joey
Boast God heard. It was just one of the lost
days of the year for the Chargers and they have
a chance to make up for it on Saturday night.
That will be this Saturday, two games Saturday, three Sunday,

(01:49:11):
and then Dallas at Tampa Bay on Monday the sixteenth.
And then there's the story finally of the number one
draft pick. It goes to Chicago because the Bulls. Bulls,
the Bears finished the season losers of ten straight lost
in Minnesota. Bears earned the top overall draft choice for
the first time since At the same time, this game

(01:49:33):
was going on Houston one for some inexplicable reason, thirty
two thirty one at Indianapolis, Texans with a last minute
touchdown on fourth and twenty and then went for two
and got it, so they finished three thirteen and one
Bears three and fourteen. By the way, the Colts finished
with losing seven in a row, and tonight the Texans

(01:49:53):
fired coach Lovey Smith. We've mentioned this during the season,
a chance for the Lions to have a top ten
that has happened. They have the Rams first round pick.
It will be number six overall. Seattle made that trade
with Denver. Seattle known only makes the playoffs. Today they
officially have the number five overall pick. Eagles not only
a top seed, they have a top ten pick. The

(01:50:16):
Texans will select number two and number twelve in the
first round. And the NBA injury note Brooklyn won, but
Kevin Durant left with a knee injury. Someone fell into him.
Back to you, Wow, do you know them? You know,
it's not as far back as I thought I was
gonna say. The last time Detroit didn't have a pick
in the top ten. It's only they had the twentieth

(01:50:38):
pick in the first round, then one in twenty seven team.
So it's, um, it's not as if they've been is
is I guess often in the top ten, as you
might think recently, we forget they had some good years.
By the way, where's your buddy Baker Mayfield gonna end
up next year? I hope back in l A. I
think that was a good note. Well, let's let's go

(01:50:59):
over the top. Grip, let me cool whip your question. Well,
I pretty much, but we're okay. Well, I was gonna
ask you Sean mcveighan to be back in l A
next year. I don't think so. Then where's Baker? I
think Baker's getting up in Arizona with the Cardinals. I
could see that who's gonna be the Cardinals head coach?

(01:51:20):
Well that I don't know that. I don't know that.
I don't know who's gonna who's gonna take over there?
That I can't tell you. Yeah, I think that you're
gonna have an interesting quarterback carousel beyond just the starters, right.
I think Jared Styton wants to be somewhere he can
compete after having basically one good game. Um, I think
Baker is kind of in that same category, right, He

(01:51:41):
really had maybe one two good games with the Rams.
He missed a lot of throws today. Sam Donald wants
another chance. Well he's and he looked good. I mean
today was ten to seven. I mean it wasn't pretty.
I'm sure that Jamis Winston will want another chance. Marcus
Mariota's so these that there's four guys right there we
mentioned that were what three of those four were first

(01:52:02):
round picks, A couple of them first overall that are
gonna want an opportunity. Detroit. I mean, I think they
feel like they found something with Jared Goff over the
next few years. Right Um, Chicago is sitting at one.
I noticed there were some people trying to float the
just draft a quarterback, But I feel like they got
their guide fields. I don't think you need to mess

(01:52:23):
that up too much and try to deal justin fields. Right, No,
I'm not so sure. I'm gonna go ahead and punt
on that right now, Um, my thing is worth. Daniel
Jones gonna end up and who's gonna be the new
quarterback of the Giants. I think Daniel Jones is gonna
be the guy. Nine day Ball came out and said it.
He said, we're gonna try to keep se Kwon Barkley
and Daniel Jones around. Yeah, I think you met Kwon

(01:52:44):
barcleyen just kind of there right there. Well, we know
this much. We're gonna spend an off season talking about
Aaron Rodgers again. Here's what Aaron Rodgers said postgame about
his future with at least screen Beth. Assume it's a
foregone conclusion. You know, it would be probably slightly egotistical.

(01:53:05):
So I'm gonna be a realist here and understand that
there's a lot of different parts to this. And like
I've said, you know, I was aware of the possibility
of them going young. If we got no point, we
were out of it. And I'm aware of that possibility
as well. So is there a timetable Aaron Rodgers on
either your or the team's decision. I'm not going to

(01:53:27):
hold them hostage, you know, I understand. Uh, you know,
we're still in January here, marches free agency, so we
just need some time to, like I said, get the
emotion out of it, and then figure out what's best.
What's best that he gets a fifty million and gets
to go away that's what's best right, right, exactly, And
they did ask him about the shot of him walking

(01:53:48):
off the field with his buddy Randall com. I just
love the man. I've always had a tight friendship with him,
and just a lot of gratitude in the midst of disappointment.
The best part about this game is the relationships that
come out of it, because those lass longer than the career,
and I'm thankful for Antal. I wonder if he put
his head around Adams when Adams left like that though,

(01:54:09):
Oh he talked about Davonte Adams. Yeah, yeah, absolutely. In
other words, you just can't replace. Obviously, losing Davante was
a big deal, but we didn't fill that void, and
I mean nobody can. He's you know, he's super human,
he's phenomenal. But yeah, so at least he realized that
sounds like a guy that's on his way to Vegas

(01:54:29):
to me, right, Oh, look how great Davante Adams is.
Adams has said he's stayed in Vegas. Now, I know.
I know, big Big Mallard has gone through and kind
of Jappruter film to that audio doesn't necessarily buy it,
but I don't know if I do either, But I
don't know, man, I I I get this sense that
Aaron Rodgers is playing somewhere else. Does he want to

(01:54:49):
stay up there because of now who he's dating? You
saw that story, right, oh the Bucks owner? Yes, yes,
I think Aaron Rodgers goes through girlfriends like I don't know.
I like, like I go through diet plans. It's like
I'm gonna do this this week, I'm gonna do that
next week, like me sticking to my New Year's resolutions.
I mean, Aaron Rodgers has a new girl faster than

(01:55:10):
I blow mine ups. So still, remember when we were
talking about Dadica Patrick, right, I thought he was dating
some girl with blue hair just a couple of weeks ago.
So I don't know what's going on there. You go.
That's what Aaron Rodgers had to say afterwards. When we
come back, I cannot promise that Arnie's picks won't include
Aaron Rodgers future home, but I do know it'll include
the National Championship game. We'll get into a next. On

(01:55:30):

This game is over. It is over there. It is
our progressive play of the day. And uh, it's also
over for the Packers, Arnie, who come up short of
the playoffs. Yes, it is. Goodbye Aaron Rodgers and goodbye

(01:56:37):
to the Green Bay Packers. We don't have to worry
about them this year. Are you ready? I'm ready to
do it. Let's get all the music. Put me in
the mood. Chris. I went seven and three this week.
I finished in the regular season one seventy three and
one fifty three, which is fifty three percent. So if
you took every one of my picks, you made some money. Uh.

(01:56:57):
This year in the NFL, we're gonna start fresh with
the with the postseason, all right. I love Georgia minus
thirteen thirteen against TCU. They're gonna open up the whole
cann of whoop ass against them. Not even gonna be
a game, matter of fact, I like the over fifty
two and a half in the Georgia TCU game. Final
score Georgia TCU twenty seven, if it's even gonna be

(01:57:21):
that close. I love San Francisco minus ted against Seattle.
They should blow him out. Give me Jacksonville plus the
point and a half against the Charges. I'm gonna take
my Dolphins hopefully two was gonna play plus the eleven
points against Buffalo and the way I see two in
the in the uh, in the locker room, he's gonna
be ready to play. Give me the Giants plus the

(01:57:42):
three against Minnesota. Giants win the game outright. Love Cincinnati
minus the sixth off against Baltimore. And give me the
Dallas Cowboys minus three against Tom Brady and the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers. There you have my picks, two of them,
as you please, no longer strictly for entertainment purposes on alright.

(01:58:03):
So one of the different websites I believe this is
sports betting dot ag is reporting that fifty eight percent
of the money wagered on the spread tomorrow night is
on TCU plus thirteen. Bet online is showing similar support
with fifty seven percent of the action on the Frogs. Also,

(01:58:24):
TCU has a majority of the money on it to
win the game, with percent of the money line action
to the underdog. The over under is at sixty three
and a half and betters are hammering the over eighty
four percent of the money on bet on at sports
Betting nott a g is on the over well a
bet online it's eighty one point five percent. So people

(01:58:47):
loving TCU, they're loving TCU and they're loving the over.
Do you who you got to star? Then? If you're
gonna have Georgia Roland? Is it a night for Stetson Bennett?
Is tonight you know that that that night that goes
ahead and puts up forty eight points on the morning.
I think he will. I think it's gonna be a

(01:59:08):
good game. For him, I said Stetson Bente, just to
make sure you knew who the Georgia quarterback was. I
wanted to make sure. All right, Listen, next week, we'll
have playoffs to recap. We'll see if your Dolphins are
still alive. Now we won't know about the Cowboys because
Dallas and Tampa gets Monday night football, so we'll get
to preview that tomorrow night. But look at you back
in the playoffs. Congratulate, congratulations. Hey, Big Bennler is coming

(01:59:30):
up next. That's Big Ben Mallor with Eddie and the crew.
For Chris Perfett, for Bo Benson, for Steve to Seger.
That's Arnie span Your I'm Chris Plank. We'll be back
here next to Sunday night with a complete recap of
