Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to sports.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
They got to go to Switzerland, the go ahead and
do that.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Listen, man, if my wife told me that she was
gonna leave for a couple of weeks, now I'm not.
I love my wife, I love my family, I love
my kids. But no, I think I played like fifty
holes of golf. So you enjoyed it, right, or do
you know? You get it?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
It's stressful. I gotta keep the dog. Awiy oh, you
got your dog. I got the dog. So I gotta
get up early and feed the dog. Then I gotta
walk the dog. Then I gotta it's gotta be walked
twice a day and be fed twice a day. So
that bugs the hell out of me.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Just get an outdoor dog, let him run around or something.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
That's idea, like a cat. That's a great idea.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Cat. Well, so are you? So you enjoyed Switzerland yourself?

Speaker 2 (00:46):
And I said to her, I go, you know you
got a husband. You know you do have a husband
at all.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Stop you're good, gosh, take this time and break you
know what. You know what. She's leaving probably right in
the middle of football season, so you'll be good to go.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Every Ready, you have to go hiking for six months.
I don't understand that.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
No, I'm just six months a little bit. So listen,
I want to start with Robert Garrison tonight, which is
so exciting. Mary here as always Steve de Sagers on updates.
I put the over under before a throwdown Rob between
the second and third I'm sorry, third and fourth segment,
so we'll see how it goes. What NBA topic could

(01:24):
I use tonight to really get things spicy between Robert Narnie?
What what would it take? You think? Oh, yeah, you're Ben,
I said, Ben Stiller. Your your take on Joel embiid
I mean, if you.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Still I was one hundred percent right on that one.
Everybody's jumping on the ban wagon on the Joel and
Bead thing, and I was like months ahead of everybody
else on that.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
Yeah. And then he goes out and just I mean listen,
he was playing Puerto Rico but looks about as good
as he can look.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Come on, stop it, Well, what are.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
You talking about. You're not allowed to go out and
dominate even if his career.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Is finished, just like you know, done.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
O V E R.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
It's over.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
If he was traded tomorrow to the Knicks, she'd come
on be like, look at this guy. He is healing,
He is the way he should be. I'd cry myself
to speech ship. So uh, I actually in want to
open with giving you kudos. There's there's a couple of
things that you deserve your shine on. Number one, congrats,
I don't care what the rules say on starting two
and oh. Yeah, on your picks this year, pretty good.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Pretty good.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
You wouldn't be able to cash it in the real world.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
No, but that's okay. Two and oh on my picks.
I always told you the preseason is the free season.
Matter of fact, I was just thinking what I want
to buy myself after the preseason with all this money
I'm going to be making two.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
And oh so far as it sounds like you're going
to be sending your wife to Switzerland, so yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
That's piece of cake. But I was looking at the U.
I was looking at some of the games. I have
five games for this week. Of course, whoa, whoa what? Whoa?

Speaker 4 (02:51):
What?

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Five games for this week? You're picking?

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, why do you need more?

Speaker 3 (02:55):
I'm just I'm impressed. Usually you do go a little
bit light out of the gates because of the I
don't know unpredictability of it. But like you say, preseasons,
the preseason.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
How many times I got to tell you that? Why
why would I only want to eat two or three
potato chips when I could have a handful? I don't
understand that. Why why there's a whole bunch of money
in front of me and you only want me to
take a twenty dollars bill. I'm gonna I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Scoop it up.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
Man.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Congratulations on two and zero. It's a heck of a
still now, what was easy?

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Don't even congratulate. That was just too easy.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Too easy? Though again, I think there does have to
be the caveat you wouldn't be able to cash the check.
Number two. I gotta tell you I was wrong. You
were right. Apparently Tyreek Hill is the number one player
and the best wide receiver in the game, and the
best overall player in the game.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
I had to tell you that about that this week.
There's a lot of times I've been right about that,
and we haven't even got to the other stuff I
was right about. But yeah, I tried.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I'm giving you two and you're that greedy where it's
like there's about five others.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
What about the one with the Arizona running back I
sent you.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
You sent me one clip of a guy running over
someone from a college football atcount.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
I'm gonna take that anyway. But yeah, I tried to
tell you Tyreek Hill the best player in the NFL
and also the best wide receiver, and yet you laughed
at me.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I laughed at you. I would take Justin Jefferson. Hold on,
I'm going to ruin this analogy every day and twice
on Sunday. I think that's how it rolls.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
I tell you that Justin Jefferson is nothing, and you
laughed at me about that. But did I do? Didn't
I do my top five wide receivers?

Speaker 1 (04:23):
And what did I have.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
There Jefferson for you?

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Just But you know what, that's it's not really fair
because I know football and.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
I have no clue what I'm talking about. So kudos
to you on that. But I do want to I
do want to kind of cry foul here. I think
this is all work. I don't think there is. Come on, now,
you love the NFL. I love the NFL. We all
hate how great the Chiefs are. There is no question
who the number one player is in the NFL. It's

(04:54):
Patrick Mahomes, and so in my opinion, I think that
there was some trolling going on here. I think somebody
either in the NFL office or is smart enough to
realize this is gonna be boring if Mahomes is number
one and no one's gonna talk about it. The top
one hundred players needs a little bit more juice to it,
because every year it feels like it's the same thing.

(05:16):
I don't know, and I don't know how serious the
players take the voting process. I mean, imagine, just in general,
if I said, oh, no, you got to sit down
and pick the top one hundred college basketball teams this
last year, that might be a point where you just
kind of write some things in right.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
And sometimes you miss one and you're like, okay, I'll
just put him here. I'll just go to exactly. I
don't want to cross anything out there. I will say this,
it wasn't so much a Tyreek Hill was number one,
even though obviously that was surprising. It's that today had
Patrick Mahomes not the number one quarterback in the NFL.
They had he was behind Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Mar Jackson that that.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
To me is the ultimate in BS because one I
have Lamar Jackson's my top five overrated quarterbacks in the NFL.
But that being that aside, just compare with Patrick Mahomes
is done in the playoffs. Compared to Lamar Jackson, It's
it's really like night and day. So anybody that would
have Lamar Jackson ahead of Patrick Mahomes, I mean, that's

(06:10):
absolutely ridiculous that. That to me was the you know,
the the shot in the arm that said, hey, we're
really trolling everybody out there.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah, Dad, get you out of Mahomes one. So I'm
rolling through, See what else would I have where Arnie
was right? Okay, that's good. Well, congratulations on being right
on those things past.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
And Arizona two. Oh by the way, and we'll get
to this later on. I looked into betting my Arizona
Wildcats parlayed to the Dolphins winning the whole thing. I'm
gonna make a lot of money this year.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
You know it. You know you? I think you can
do that on an app and I couldn't do.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
I couldn't bet. I tried it. I could parlay Arizona
winning the Big Twelve to Miami Dolphins winning the AFC East.
I could parlay I could bet Arizona winning the whole
championship in football, but I couldn't parlay that to the
Dolphins Super Bowl. So I'm gonna have to find the
way to figure that out.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
The books right now are like, Hey, somebody wants to
take this bet, come up with some odds on it.
We'll take his money. Make it easy. But I will say,
because you seem so in a world of belief, which
I feel like is a little different this year than
years before. I don't know why I'm digging a little
deeper this week in Arizona. We're gonna get a college
football guest on next week because we're only three weeks

(07:19):
away from the start of the college.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Football Amazing, I'm I already starting to complain about it.
But yes, amazing.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Wait, fait, hold on, hold, I don't see I'm on
Roman NUL sixteen, number eight, Roman numeral eighth. Okay, well,
you're complaining about college football already.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
No No nine eight. Excuse me, I was excuse me,
it's number eleven.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Oh and by the way, for those new to the show,
Arnie sends me a rundown every single Sunday, usually at
like six in the morning, and the Rundown is in
Roman numerals for some reason, and it's the topics he
wants to talk about. So I guess I miss this.
I'm sorry, go.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Roman numeral eleven. I said, college football, I go three
weeks away and I go once again. Week one schedule
just garbage. So I'm already complaining about week one schedule
and we're still three weeks away from the start of
the college football season.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Now let's carve out some time for that to kick
off hour two because I'm going to agree and vehemently
disagree with you at the same time. I don't know
how I don't. I don't disagree with you right at all.
You're I care because you watch football so much. But
even beyond that, I've realized, you know what, it's okay

(08:26):
to just say, hey, I love football, but I'm probably
not gonna watch North Carolina State play Louisville. But but
I think college football, if you want to say, the
powers that be whomever. And I don't know where we're
going with this, and I don't know what the future
looks like with nine game conference playoff conference schedules coming,
but Arnie, we're still getting really good games, like you

(08:49):
might not like the depth of games, but I mean
you get an LSU USC opening weekend, you're getting Clemson
Georgia opening weekend. I mean, now, if you just want
to say I'm simple focusing on Week zero when the
star is Florida State and Georgia Tech, I can't fight
with you. You're right.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
But if you look exactly.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
As that whole stretch, I think we got some great
games to kick off the college football season.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Yeah. I can't argue with those two late games. But yeah,
I was talking about is it week zero still or
a Week one? I don't even know what we got.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
So again, this is NERD alert. We need to have
an alarm for this. But they've they've tried to pull
the old games. Are not the drones you're looking for
to where it's it's actually all week one, aren'tie everybody.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
In Week I got?

Speaker 3 (09:30):
So that way, they're not magnifying just how awful the
Week zero schedule has typically been.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
You would think they would come out of the gags strung.
I was wondering what was going to happen, and I
guess we can't tell this year, you know, because we
need teams to adjust their schedule. But I thought there'd
be more, you know, with the three non conference games,
that one of them was going to be a tough
game for a lot of teams because there was a
twelve team playoff. Am I making sense on this?

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Great?

Speaker 2 (09:59):
No, no, no, you are you are, and I think, and
you'll take a chance and it won't really kill you
if you lose to a good team, I guess, is
my boy.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Especially if you're a Big ten team that's playing an
SEC team or right exactly, also big twelve in there too.
When you're playing those kinds of games, especially on the road,
that's big time.

Speaker 6 (10:16):
Now.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
Now when there was four teams, that's a whole another story.
But now that there's twelve, a lot more room for error.
You could lose like three games, it won't kill you.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
I also, I think you're gonna get, naturally some of
those games when the when the SEC gets to nine
games in its conference schedule, because it's coming. But I
think you're gonna see the philosophy in college football scheduling
be as it's always been one game for the stars,
one game for the you know, the high one great
matchup meh, kind of middle of the road in a game,

(10:44):
you know, you're gonna win. I mean, I think that's
gonna always be how and maybe sometimes, like say the
USC philosophy, you don't even really care to have that
three level. You're just like, I'll take three games I
can win, and that's fine, Arnie, that's gonna be fine.
But I do think scheduling up is gonna be re Listen.
I could talk about this all night, but we've got
one other new rule to talk about. It's Roman numeral

(11:05):
one and we're eleven minutes into the show and I
haven't talked about it yet. It wasn't the rage that
I was hoping it would be on Friday morning, because
what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
You were hoping that everybody was gonna get excited about it?

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Or what the kickoff rules? Baby? Yeah, I thought there
would be either excitement or outrage, and I just felt
like it was kind of a we still have more
to learn, and I like that, Arnie. We gotta lose
our minds and knee jerk like crazy in this thing
we called sports. But for some reason, I thought it
was actually kind of kind of measured. What'd you think?

Speaker 2 (11:32):
You know, you and I were the same way. I
thought we were gonna come on the next day, go,
oh my goodness, this is gonna work. It's not gonna work.
I can't understand what we're doing. This is crazy. I
can't understand the rules. And then when it was all
said and then, I said, you know, I think I
kind of need more time for this. I'm not sure
how I feel this is. You know, was like when
they moved the kick or the extra point back. I

(11:54):
knew right away if I was gonna like it or not.
It took about a week. This I'm really not sure.
I mean, I think after about a couple of weeks,
I'll get used to it. I think the tough part
is getting used to it. I'm not against it, to
be honest with you, I think it kind of worked
out good. But I have to see more of it
and see how it works out. I want to see
what happens when we have the first touchdown, you know,

(12:14):
taken right up the middle and nobody touches them. I
just want to see how it works out that way.
I'm just wondering if we're tinkering with all the rules
too much. I mean, look how many things we have
changed since when you know, you and I were younger,
and we made things better for the offense. You can't
touch the quarterback, I mean the receiving thing. It used

(12:35):
to be what you could just bump them right anywhere,
and then it was five yards. And now we protect
the wide receiver and you know, you can't take a
hit on an innocent wide receiver. We've changed so much.
I'm wondering is this better for football or are we
tinkering too much with the rules where we were just
damaging the game right now?

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Yeah, And you know we've seen baseball tinker with its
more than tinker with its rules over the last couple
of years, right. I don't necessarily think the NBA has
tinkered with its rules as much as they have. Well,
I mean, it's become a different kind of league, but
they've added the nd season tournament. I guess to your point,
I don't think I would disagree, Arnie. I feel like
sometimes there's a few moments where you're like, Okay, listen,

(13:16):
we don't need to do anything to try to get
the special teams more involved. It is what it is.
It's not magically going to change ratings, and we're all
not gonna get richer from it. Just leave it. We
don't have to tinker with everything. I will say, speaking
of tinkering, I think baseball needs to go back to
not having a runner, and over time, I think I'm

(13:36):
done with that one. I don't know though, just when
you're talking about new rules TBD on new kickoff rules
baseball wise, I think I'm over.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
There wasn't a big you're right though, there wasn't a
big backlash about it, like people going, oh my goodness,
this has destroyed the game.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
What are we doing?

Speaker 2 (13:54):
How has got to stop? How dare we do something
like that?

Speaker 3 (13:57):
How dares have a measure to a pro to something
or reaction to something. I don't like it sports media,
I don't like it all right. When we come back
to the Tyraq dot com studios, I do think that
it is time to hit Roman numeral number three. Arnie
is here to tell you, well more than half, Eddie,
half of the division winners in the NFL have already

(14:17):
been decided. We'll get into a next on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 7 (14:27):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called All Ball.
We usually talk all basketball all the time, but it's
more about the stories about what made these people love
their sport and all the interesting interactions along the way.
We talked to coaches, we talked to players, We tell
you stories.

Speaker 8 (14:44):
You download it, you listen to it. I think you
like it.

Speaker 7 (14:48):
Listen to All Ball with Doug Gottlieb on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
All right, it's Arnie and Plank on a Fox Sports
Sunday Segre coming up with an updating. A bit busy day.
You into the Olympics still or do you fade? No?

Speaker 2 (15:06):
No, no, I'm still into it. I was watching the
volleyball with my buddy Chase Buttinger pulling it out in
these beach volleyball. Of course I'm still watching the men's basketball.
So no, I'm into it. I'm having a good time.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Can I admit that I'll lose track of something for
like a day and the next thing and I'm like,
I have no idea what happened. Like like I watched
the very first women's beach volleyball match right right, and
I was in. I was like, oh, it's awesome, it's
going the gold. And then the next thing, I know,
after like twelve hundred swimming events, that lasted five hundred
laps and watching basketball and watching women's basketball look up like,

(15:44):
I have no idea what happened to that women's beach
volleyball team that one of the first rounds I like,
Chase Buttinger. Today I'm watching, I'm like, what is this
even for? Right now? The Olympics loses me a little
bit ary, Like I thank god for the Internet. Don't
know they were playing.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Like they were playing for like the lucky Loser, and
I didn't know what that was, so I had to
google it to see what what the hell does that mean?

Speaker 4 (16:04):
Man?

Speaker 2 (16:04):
I'm like, what's going on here?

Speaker 3 (16:06):
I watched last night because thanks so thanks our guy
Shady Sean. I was, I was watching the fights. Did
you watch his own in the boxing last night in
the M and M concert? No?

Speaker 2 (16:17):
No, no, no, Robers you Rob?

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Did you stay up and watch it last night? I did?

Speaker 2 (16:22):
And I already feel bad for you playing right already.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
I just was like, oh yeah, I understand that, but
it was just it was it was wild because I'm
up so late, so I'm into the boxing and I
watched this like kayaking of it, bro. They dropped these
people from like a foot a foot big drop from
like a twelve foot drop, it seems like. And then
they pretty much fight in the water and they got
to go. I mean, it was the most amazing thing.

(16:48):
And I'm like, I can't wait to watch all this
and they're like, it's the bronze medalist for the like
you said this for the lucky loser. It's like, I
get so caught up and watching stupid swimming that the
next thing I know, I'm behind on everything else. So
Bunger wasn't playing for the gold medal today? Is that
what you're telling me?

Speaker 2 (17:03):
No, I think he actually plays tomorrow. It was yesterday though.
The yeah, yes, they got him into the I guess
what I call the Sweet sixteen and then they'll they'll
take out another team and see how far they can go.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
Uh. Well, I'm I'm officially an old. I'm having travel
and problems keeping up, so wish me luck. A couple
of quick tweets before we get to Arnie picking division
winners On Fox Sports Radio, Owen Wright's Casey Baltimore Week
one is going to be amazing. It's like German precision
driving versus American muscle car. I'm going Casey still early Owen.

(17:41):
Let's see let's go wait's let's see how Derek Henry looks.
Let's see what that looks like for Baltimore going into
that week. You're not real big on the Ravens though
this year, are you?

Speaker 1 (17:50):
No?

Speaker 2 (17:51):
I am a matter of fact, When you want me
to do the division winners, I might I get Yeah.
I might have sell myself short when I said six
of the eight had been decided. Oh, might be decided.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
Darryl writes, I have to admit it, it was bittersweet
when Arnie doing a show and a guy gave him
the Arnie treatment. This guy loves to hear himself speak
just as much, if not more, than Arnie does. And
I rarely heard a word from Arnie. Yeah were you
on last night? Are you sure?

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Yeah? Yeah, I was on last night.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
It was fun. I'll tell you. I listened. I listened
a lot, and it was one of those where I'm like, yeah,
they're getting VJ. Mister Nobody writes. I'm a long time
Florida State fan, but I'll grant you that unless you're
a fan of them or Tech Week zero has zero interest.
And I couldn't tell you anything about the new NFL
kickoff rule because I didn't watch preseason means nothing, which

(18:47):
means it's not worth watching.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
No, no, no, not at all. No stop that stop that.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
I gotta be honest with you. I did have a
moment where I was like, oh, the game's on because
I was watching Olympics stuff in the recap and I
almost missed the actual start of the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
I was disappointed that. Yeah, I was disappointed about that.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Well, that takes it takes all the fun out of it.
That takes all the fun of it. All Right. Matt
Verterram is gonna join us right after the bottom of
the hour, so let's get our update a little bit early,
so we have plenty of time to break things down
with Matt. Plus already says six of the eight divisions
already sealed the NFL.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Maybe all eight.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Yeah, we'll get to that with Matt Verdram.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
But first, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
All right, it's already even playing for the Tyraq dot
com studios. Uh, let's do it. Let's talk some more NFL.
Are we ready with Matt. Matt Verdram s I what's that? Matt?

Speaker 4 (19:44):
Now?

Speaker 3 (19:45):
Are you man good to catch back up with the
at Matt Vertram on Twitter also has his uh Patreon show,
which is awesome as well. All right, let's just get
all the bs of the ratings out of the way.
What are we doing? I mean, first you got that
dopey safety playing with the Kermit. Then you've got then
you've got the NFL's top one hunder not having Patrick
Mahomes number one. What are we doing? I mean, do

(20:05):
they really need any more motivation right now in Kansas City?

Speaker 4 (20:09):
If they do, they've got it. So they're all they're
all set. I I saw the Kermit puppet and just
immediately penciled in the chief should be into in ours.
There's not. The Chiefs played Carolina, and I would be
more confident that the Chiefs will beat the Raiders and
the Panthers and that, and the Raiders are much better

(20:30):
than the Panthers. But like, if there's ever two games,
they're just gonna be through the roof keyed up for
it's gonna be games.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
Yeah, you know, Mat, I don't know, all the years
we've had you on, I don't know if I ever
asked you when it comes to preseason, I mean, how
much are you into it. Are you like, oh, I
can't wait. I want to see what Caleb Williams looks like.
Or do you just say take it with a grain
of salt, no big deal. You know, how serious do
you take preseason and and some of the storylines you're
looking forward to?

Speaker 4 (20:59):
I think stock and I think look sometimes that people
I didn't look at the wrong stuff, Like if you
look at box scores, it's appreciate. It's complete waste of
time because you know, Caleb Williams could throw some bubble
screen the guy goes eighty yards with it, and people
are like, oh my god, he was three or four
for one hundred drugs out. But you know, let's be
real here, like eighty yards that was from corner falling over.

(21:21):
I think I like to see like with the cornerbacks,
you know, do they look comfortable in the pocket? Is
the speed of the game too fast? Form? Do they
you know? Do they do? They take off and they
don't need to, you know, they forcing a ball into
a spot. They shouldn't be like that stuff. I'm interested
in that kind of stuff. I'm interested in, you know,
and you're watching a pass rusher like does he have

(21:43):
more than one move? Is it just the same move
twenty stats in a row.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
You know, I was the Viking scamp this this last
week and I was talking to Dallas Turner about that.
He said, No, I'm I'm really working on trying to
get a secondary rush move that I feel really good
about because I know I can't just win with one
at this futtle that's not gonna happen. So I get
interested in that more than I do who wins, who loses,
you know, And I'll look at this box score that

(22:09):
looks amazing, but in reality like kind of propped up
on some nonsense.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Matt. Okay, this is kind of similar to Arnie's question,
but in a different way. The hardest thing for me
has been to try to decipher what's real and what
isn't coming out of camp. Now. I'm an old man,
so I pointed aggregators and like, people got to stop.
You know, there's just We've got Artie sending me a
text every single way. Do you see this? Here's the
quarterback grades in camp so far. Yeah, don't take that
away from me.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
How challenging is it to figure out, Okay, what's legiti
and what is it right now? Because there's a lot
of bs right now in the reporter ing world.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
Yeah. Yeah, aggregation accounts for a disaster. I again, I
kind of to go back to those of the games.
I'm in the middle of my training cancer. I've seen
the Packers, have seen the biking to see the Chiefs.
I'm still have five more games to see in the
next coming couple of weeks. And when you go to camp,
everybody's different. You know, some teams there's not a lot

(23:05):
of physicality. There's a lot of seven on seven, a lot,
you know, kind of walk through type stuff. Then you know,
you go to some camps they're physical. You know, you
go you go to Kansas City, I mean it is
there to the ground and Andy Reid and they're they're
going and it's you. I think, like you can get
a little bit more of a sense good or bad
with a team like that than you can't. You're going
and it's quarterback growing on air. But for an example, though,

(23:27):
like I was a Vikings camp. Now, granted, Justin Jefson
is having a vet rest day, but I was watching
Sam Donald in seven on seven and San Donald's holding
the ball for like six seconds, I mean, and then
like but then he rolled bullet right and he completed
the pass, and people say, oh, of that brote Donald
and he would have been chacked twice, Like you know,
I got six seconds to throw the ball. It's it's ridiculous.

(23:51):
So I think sometimes, you know, that's a context matters,
and unfortunately Twitter is not exactly a place for context.
So yeah, I think a lot of its bs because
it doesn't matter until the pad dron you really hit
and there's some risk in the quarterback in the sack.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
You know, it's so funny you mentioned all that because
you said you were viking camp. You were just talking
about that, And I sent an article to Chris Plank
before the show. JJ McCarthy. Is he already a Hall
of Famer? I mean seriously, the Twitter was exploding about JAJ.
There was some like the video of him and I'm like,

(24:28):
he rolled out and hit a he completed a pass.
Am I visiting something? But how good did he look?
People are raving about this guy on Twitter. It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
Yeah, yeah, seeing that that's funny or sad. I will say,
though I walked away from that camp. I think I
actually said this to my editor. If they don't start
McCarthy early. They're insane. That kid. He did pro football,

(24:58):
and I'll be the first one to be one of
these guys coming out of you in the drafting. Now,
you know, I like him more than Nicks, but I
don't know, like you know, you didn't see a ton
of it in Michigan because they played a pro style office.
It was very balanced and ran the ball a lot.
It's part to kind to get a feel for him.
He he made some throws in that practice that I

(25:20):
walked away saying like that, that's an NFL and that
is a real Hey, I'm throwing a corner route twenty
yards on time over the linebacker in front of the
in front of the safety. Like that's a real route.
That's a real throw. I don't see if you're in Minnesota,
if you don't want to rush him. And I understand
that if O'Connell says, hey, we're not going to start
a week one and they have a time. You look

(25:40):
at their schedule earlier. They pay a lot of the defenses.
But he, to me, there's no reason to shit him
for more than like maybe a month behind Darlin Donald.
He's a guy done against him, but he's a guy
McCarthy I think showed me plenty that he can, like
actually make some real throws and do some stuff.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Matt Arnie and I were going to debate just the
certainty that he has over the six now, and he
says maybe even eight division winners. I think there's a
lot of truth to the fact that the Chiefs have
the West pretty locked down. But I don't know. I
feel like there's more battles within the divisions this year.
Is this beat me being overly optimistic or do you
think we could see more competitive division battles.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
So Arnie thinks he knows six of the eight teams
that division.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
Actually I pretty much know all eight, Matt.

Speaker 4 (26:28):
To be honest with you, I just before you answer
this question, after who are these states.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Miami, Houston, Kansas City and Baltimore, Philadelphia, Detroit, San Francisco
and Atlanta pretty much all done?

Speaker 1 (26:39):
Deal?

Speaker 4 (26:40):
God, that's good. I'm glad we right the January right,
I would say, I think of all the divisions, I mean, yes,
Kansas City something that would have to go like drastically
Rock I'm not doing the asust but beyond that, you
can in there already three different teams. I think I
would take Buffalo still, but you could argue it the

(27:04):
AFC North. I would like, you could take the Bengals,
you could take the Ravens. I don't really think you
can take Cleveland and Pittsburgh just because of the quarterback situation.
But you know, I would agree with Houston, although I
don't think Jackson going Indianapolis am I completely just run over.
You don't even talk about the type games. Then in
the NFC, I probably would agree with all four of

(27:27):
your division widers. Of course, yeah, welcome. I will say though,
like I think the NFC is a is an oddly
competitive conference, like not because it's great, but because there's
nobody in it that I'm like, oh, that team's just overwhelming.
Even the Niners, they probably the best roster top to bottom.

(27:49):
Maybe Detroit, but like there's a there are a lot
of injury prone guys in the Nile. There are a
lot of guys you look at me because I hope
he stays healthy, and they kind of got a lot
of that last year. So yeah, I actually think that
there's going to be quite a few divisional races this seasons.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
Were you on on the Jets and Rogers this year?
What kind of year are they gonna have.

Speaker 4 (28:11):
I I am not a laver in the Jets, and look,
I know it's gonna be one of those deals. Gat
they're good. I feel like people in New Yorkers are
going to go through my timeline and ball up all
this stuff scream with me. And that's fine. That'll give
me something to do on a Wednesday. But I like
my problem with with any team. If I have to
look at you and to get to a point where

(28:33):
I say like you're a contender, if there's like nine
ifs to get to that point, you're probably not a contender.
And I look at the Jets and say, okay, if
Rogers can stay healthy, and if he plays like he
played three years ago, and if Tyron Smith plays more
than thirteen games for the first time since twenty fifteen,
and if the rest of that line comes together, all

(28:56):
of these new faces, and then that doesn't even touch
like what the deal is with Sama and is the
offense gonna be good with Hacket running it? And I
just I look at the Jets and go, I get it.
If it all works out, like Mike Williams is another
huge yet. But if it all works out, everybody stays
healthy and me all play the potential. Sure they'd be

(29:16):
really good. So you that manis like the moral in
my opinion, realistic thing. Is there going to be a
you know, a borderline playoff game nine wins somewhere in there.
Maybe they you know, win a tiebreaker too, maybe they
get the ten their walk, because I don't. I don't
think there's a good as buffalo. I don't think there
as good as mine.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
So great to hear your voice. Happy birthday, dude, Happy birthday.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
Thank you. Yeah. I was worried about getting out of
bed and like shattering a hip this morning, but so
far I'm glad.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
We got it under the wire. Matt, Matt verner Am,
Happy birthday. Thanks for coming on Man football anytime.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
Thanks guys.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
Good to have Matt verd Am back. Yeah, let's go
right under the wire right before midnight in the Eastern
time zone. All right, when we come back to the

well college football busts from this past week right here

Speaker 3 (30:18):
The very first message to hit after Arnie dropped his
eight guaranteed division winners, which again, you're you're going chalk here,
so don't hurt yourself.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
But I feel pretty confident about it.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
The devil will never write so grateful. Arnie did not
pick my team to win their division, which means they
actually now have a chance, because as we all know,
Arnie is the kiss of death.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
I think I did this last year and got them
all right.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Again, you didn't. But if you want to say that,
if that makes me, I think that's what I think,
go for it. Go for it. We come to you
live from the Tirack dot com studios. Also a reminder

(31:30):
to go, you should parlay that bet at your guarantee.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Yeah, but you know what, the only one that you said,
I want to all talk, that's not true. The only
one that didn't go all chalk was in the AFCAS
with Miami Miami. But's funny as they had to make
them every year. But they have Miami is the third
favorite in that division. Buffalo's plus one sixty five. Then
they have the Jets second, which I think is laughable
that the Jets would be second place in that division.

(31:55):
Then they have Miami third. But I have Miami winning
the division? Used did? I have obviously winning the South
and they're overwhelmingly the favorite in the South. There's no
advance buts about that. I love Kansas City and they're
umong his favorites to win their division.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
And I really breaking your neck here to do this,
to be honest.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Well, but I tried to tell you. That's why there's
not gonna be any good races. These divisions are already done
and Baltimore is gonna go ahead and win the North.
So the AFC is a pretty much a done deal now.
In the NFC, some people order about my cowboys. Cowboys
made no moves. We already know Washington and the Giants
are horrific. So Philadelphia has already clinched that division. Last year,

(32:39):
the NFC East was Dallas.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
That's right, Yeah, why are you dismissing them there defending
the division?

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Yeah, twelve wins, they were looking to win that division.
They'd beat Philadelphia by one game, and Dallas didn't add anybody.
I just don't believe in them this year. And like
I said, Philadelphia, they're not overwhelmingly favorites, are pretty strong
favorites to win that division. I got Atlanta in the South,
and would you believe Atlanta is a big time favorite
to win that division. They got a lot of getting

(33:06):
a lot of money on them. U. Then I have Detroit.
I'm a little nervous about Detroit, but then again, under
see anybody else winning that division. And then I have
San Francis.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
What makes you worried about Detroit?

Speaker 2 (33:17):
I just don't know if they were real After what
happened last year, everything was kind of falling in there,
you know, falling in their favor I just want to
know if they're really that good. But then again, when
I look at that division. I don't believe in Minnesota,
especially if they go with JJ McCarthy. If yeah, well yeah,
he's a rookie quarterback and this Jordan love thing, Please,

(33:40):
that's just a bunch of boloney. So that's why I
had to go with Detroit, and that that's why it's
gonna be real easy to pick all the division winners
this year. I just I just gave it. I hope
I didn't ruin the year for everything you.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
May have, but I was going to get in trouble
for that. You might they might say, hey, just when
you were picking six of eight and it did not happened.
I would say there's a couple of teams here that
are just like overwhelming odds for Houston. People act like
Houston won the AFC South going away. They won it
by one game over Jacksonville.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Yeah, and they're better. They're much better this year.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
Why because they added Stefan Diggs. How'd you feel about
him in Buffalo?

Speaker 2 (34:20):
Well, he was pretty good in Buffalo, was he not?

Speaker 3 (34:22):
Did he not separate the locker room? Did he not
create problems on the sad problem? Well, then it's Houston's problem.
Now I'm just saying, I'm work shopping it. Don't necessarily
believe it yet. Baltimore, how do you feel about Lamar Jackson?
Aren't he I'm not, you know, I think you're guaranteeing him?
The division? Were Joe Burrow's back?

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Yeah, the one because Burrow's coming back. It's really a
two team race in there, so let's be honest.

Speaker 3 (34:46):
Cleveland. Cleveland nearly won the division with Joe Flacco as
their quarterback? Why so quick to eliminate them? When they
bring into Sean Watson telling you, I think we've got
more battles than you're willing to believe right now. But hey,
let's go put your bets down. Get rich, my man,
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Let's go rich.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
All right. When we come back to the ti rack
dot com studios, Arnie and I are talking a little
college football talking season is almost over the regular season
right around the corner. We'll break it down next.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
You're listening to Fox Sports. You're listening to Fox Sports.

Speaker 3 (35:22):

of praise you're getting tonight to go to your head
too much. I'm glad you're.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
What what praise am I getting?

Speaker 3 (35:44):
Well? Build I'm trying to build you up tonight for
getting a couple of things, right. I feel like though
you're letting it go to your head on my.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
Picks, I'm ready to go undefeed it. I think the
entire preseason.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
I I am willing to give you two and O
is everybody else? In other words, are other people in
your industry aren't genius? I think, as a win.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
It is not my fault that you couldn't cast your ticket.
That that's not on me. I just gave you the winners,
don't right, don't don't blame me if you weren't able
to cash the tickets. Some people didn't know that they
couldn't cast the tickets. Was the game was in fifty
five minutes played, so they didn't know they couldn't cast
your tickets either way?

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Right, So I mean, I'm with it. I'm fine. This
is more of a kind of a moralistic thing for you,
as you know, professional gambler, if you will, and.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
I'll just get the uh yeah, I'm gonna get the
next five right that I give you tonight. So I'm
excited about that.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
I would I would just give this advice. I don't
think you've been I don't think you've been in a
good spot in backing up a good week with a
good week. My advice would be, Hey, I'd say, maybe
I'll just take this as zero and two and so
then that way, maybe this week is four and one
or five and oh, I just think claiming to and oh,

(37:05):
I don't know. Maybe it's just me concepts of bad precedence?
Is that me? Or is that? Are you saying that?
Chare I'm doing it?

Speaker 2 (37:12):
I'm two and oh and I and and I'll back
it up with another good week. You know, I always
say the preseason is the free season. And I've had
I've had one bad preseason in what the last decade
we've been doing the show. So I think my track
record speaks for itself.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Okay, Okay, I listen. I mean, I I know you don't.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
I'm a little mad at you. By the way, today
I sent you well, I sent you a bunch of
really great topics and the best topic I sent you. You
totally papoot it. You're like, it's not even true. Which,
what's that Roman numeral fifteen?

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Uh, Roman numeral fifteen? The quarterback?

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Yeah, if I told everybody right now I have quarterback
grades for some of the some of the quarterbacks out
of out of practices so far, you don't think everybody
would be excited to hear about thathing like, and you're like,
it's not even real. It's not even real.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
They're fake.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
They're not fake. I said it to you.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
Well, I understand what you're saying, but no offense to
at NFL notify. Come on, now, that's right, But it's
also I mean, very very incorrect. I mean, that's the
same feed that showed the practice video of JJ McCarthy
and labeled it as insane scramble for a touchdown. Meanwhile,

(38:34):
half the defense stopped chasing him, and I think the
corner even fell down.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
So these are quarterback great, I understand that, I mean,
come on, and and there's even an f in a
couple of season there.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
Right, But but again I would defend it by saying
that's great. I'm in for it, but I don't that's
not real. That's at NFL and Underscore Notify and they're
basically taking it from one video clip that they well,
you know what am I saying? This is right down heresle,
this is talk about it and you know one clip.

(39:09):
It's seen one clip and they're like, there you go,
here's the story. I saw Gardner Minshew throw a touchdown pass.
He is ahead of a and O'Connell and he might
be the starting quarterback. I mean, this is your kind
of analysis though.

Speaker 2 (39:21):
But people people want to know what's going on with
their favorite team in practice.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
You know, when I was doing shout that, but when
it's wrong and it's.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
We don't know if it's made up though. I don't
know if he's gone to practices or maybe he has
people that have been the practices and have called back
and said so and so is looking like he's a
B minus or something like that. You know what I
was gonna say. I did the show at VJ yesday.
I didn't know that you could pay like seven dollars
and see all the preseason games. I had no idea

(39:52):
you could do that.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
So you know, of NFL plus, I.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Didn't know you could get all the preseason games.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
Though, I I thought that was you inevitably get all
the preseason games. It's just you don't necessarily get them
on that same night. But yeah, I mean NFL plus
they that's kind of I guess they're big claim to fame, right,
that's the pay service on the NFL network at NFL
dot com. I mean, no fence, guys. But it's not
like your insiders don't tell everything they put on the

(40:21):
website on TV because you have eight thousand hours of
airtime to fit and there's only so many classic games
you can play. So yeah, they've they've done this for
a couple of years. Now.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
I want to say, I so you don't like these grades.
You think they're made up and that and our listeners
don't want to hear like how Drake May's doing, or
Deshaun Watson's doing, or Caleb Williams is doing, or Trey
Lance or or or anybody like that.

Speaker 4 (40:47):
Right.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
I don't disagree with you, Arnie that people want to
hear about quarterbacks. I don't, But when it's not right,
what good is that? You mean?

Speaker 2 (40:59):
You don't like the grade? Do you just think that?

Speaker 3 (41:00):
Now?

Speaker 6 (41:01):
No?

Speaker 3 (41:01):
I just I think whatever you're counting on a web
an aggregator website that literally the very first comment to
it is where'd you come up with this grades? And
it's said, and it's said, and I quote stats from practice,
And the next response is, so pretty much you made
it up? Stuff?

Speaker 2 (41:21):
All right?

Speaker 3 (41:21):
It's just me, all right, but I.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
Love to see what goes on in practice.

Speaker 3 (41:26):
I'm sure you do. But I make it up if
I just lie to you, if I call you, if
you're not making it up, you look, you're just looking
at this time. I'm looking at stats, right, because you
know the one thing that I've noticed from every single
practice is that, oh the coaches in the media relations
department make a ton of stats available. I got to
count on Bobby the beat rider to make sure that
he's keeping good. And you don't want anyone at games

(41:48):
anyway covering them on he So what good is that?

Speaker 2 (41:51):
Scotty said, that's a treaty, goes. I'm pretty sure I
can put NFL in my name and slap some whatever
grades and gainst thinking genius to believe operated with the
NFL somehow.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
Well, and again, you're not wrong. We love this kind
of stuff. We did you see one one clip from Hope. Sorry,
I got so angry hit my microphone. You see one
clip from camp and people are here. But listen, I'm
not trying to sound arrogant, like I'm above it or anything.
Not doubting. It's just this seems a little bit suspicious

(42:22):
as far as I'm concerned, because here's their grades.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
Well, I sent you wait, but I sent you the
story about who's going to be the starting quarterback for
the Raiders. That was okay, though who was playing better
in practice? Ain't gonna be the starting quarterback? You were
okay with that though?

Speaker 3 (42:35):
No, because again that's and let me see here who
did actually send that one? Let's see already they see Oh,
here you go, rob at m w R wait, I'm sorry.
R n w W podcast Raider Nation Worldwide Podcast, and
it's two hundred and thirty three. Followers reported that Gardner

(42:55):
Minshew has pulled ahead of an O'Connell and already couldn't
couldn't wait to send me the worry about it?

Speaker 2 (43:00):
What was a Raiders story? I wanted to give you something, you.

Speaker 3 (43:04):
Know, It's like one more click to see where it's
coming from. All right, just one more here? Here, here,
is that list of quarterback great from practice? Okay, I'm
not I'm not saying they're not great, they're enough, but
I just don't think they're real. Aaron Rodgers with an
A plus.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
Yeah, that's that that I don't believe.

Speaker 3 (43:23):
But okay, Justin Fields, by the way, I will say this,
whoever is the I don't know if they've they've somehow
got a mole in there, but every single video that
is posted from Steelers camp is like the same throw
from Justin Fields and it's amazing. So they've given him
an A. I haven't seen any highlights from Josh Allen,

(43:46):
so I guess he's a C plus. Lamar Jackson is
getting a B minus training camp grade, while Deshaun Watson
is getting a B plus, Caleb Williams A minus, Jade
Daniels B, Drake May C. And because we've seen one
video clip of Trey Lance and he throws it right
to a linebacker, then Trey Lance is getting an F.
But there you go. There you quarterback grades.

Speaker 2 (44:09):
And the quarterback whisperer wanted Trey Lance, you know, Lance, Yeah,
we have to we have to trade everything to get
this guy. Everything. Need this guy work more. Than anything itself, though.

Speaker 3 (44:22):
You know it's I brought this up with Matt verner Am.
That's the thing that's frustrating for me is what is
real and what is it? We're in an era where
I know it's always been, Oh, it's it's not important
to be right. You don't have to be right, and
you don't, but it's kind of important whenever we're talking
about relationships with wanting to win at the book and

(44:42):
wanted to get the right pick, and wanted to have
the right kind of inside information and want to have
the right projection, Arnie, whenever you're just making stuff up.
That's where I kind of been trying to travel.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
And I understand, but I wasn't kidding around when I
asked Matt the question. I did send you the story,
and I saw it all over Twitter, not just that
one website or that one account where they made JJ
McCarthy throwing that pass. I mean that must have been
retweeted a million times or something like that, because it
was all over the place, Christy, and seriously, people were

(45:13):
making out like, oh my goodness, man, this guy and
even Matt Verderram said, well, he went to practice. So
that's a whole different story. He actually went to practice
and saw them, but people were retweeting that like it
was the best thing they've ever seen from a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (45:27):
It was.

Speaker 2 (45:28):
It was crazy, all the reachweets I got on that video.

Speaker 3 (45:31):
Two point five million views, two point five million on
a scramble because some dude tweeted the league as in
serious danger. He looked es scored more like mahomes every day.

Speaker 2 (45:45):
I saw that was it. That was the tweet, right exactly,
And people ate that up. They ate it up and
they're like, oh my goodness, this guy's the real deal.
I saw that every time I scrolled through Twitter today.
It was that same clip, the same one that people
were retweeting about how great JJ McCarthy's gonna have, Like
wait a minute, is this the same guy that headed
the ball off for like three straight games or something

(46:07):
like that. I mean, it was It's incredible. Now all
of a sudden, he's a big time quarterback.

Speaker 3 (46:11):
Yeah no kidding, all right, to some of our texts
and tweets, to the show real quick at Stinking Genius
one him at Plank Show. Everyone should go follow us
at Fox Sports Radio. Okay, this is Owen's I kind
of like Owen submissions to the show tonight, he writes, well,
everyone was busy selecting pretend quarterbacks. Wow, the Seahawks scooped

(46:32):
up Witherspoon and Murphy win all right, so we were
talking about divisions. I don't think the Seattle Seahawks are
gonna win the NFC West, but Colt me is a
guy that's intrigued. I don't know why you bring in
a guy that is a very well respected defensive mind
in Mike McDonald, But I don't even know if I'm

(46:53):
as interested in the defense as I am and Ryan
Grubb running their offense on you now, real quick background,
Ryan Grubb was ad wash with Kaitlin de Boor, helped
the turnaround of Michael Pennocks was on his way to
Alabama to be the offensive coordinator when he got hired
in Seattle. And I'm I'm pretty sure did he get
hired before the McDonald hiring. I might have my timeline off,

(47:13):
but Seattle did do some things in the draft with
Devin Witherspoon last year. Trey Brown's been a great find
for them. At their other corner, They've got solid along
the defensive line. I mean again, I'm not sitting here
telling you they're gonna win the division, but maybe a
team that could be interesting if they can figure out
the quarterback position. I just can't be a believer in

(47:34):
Gino smith Man.

Speaker 2 (47:36):
He's already heard, you know, he's already got an injury.
But they do have to Sabahowe, who I kind of like,
to be honest with you, last year, I think he's
more than capable of taking over Seattle. But that is
going to be a problem if Gino's going to be hurt.
And who knows how long that'scoring in the last what
they say of about two weeks or three weeks or something.
So it wasn't like he was going to play a

(47:56):
whole bit in the preseason anyway, But you want to
know how serious it is. That's going to affective. But
I do like sam ou i am.

Speaker 3 (48:03):
I did notice the over underwin total for Seattle seven
and a half, seven and a half. Also Denver and
Seattle in the opening weekend? Is that right?

Speaker 4 (48:17):
Or?

Speaker 3 (48:17):
Am I looking back at no? No Denver and Seattle
in the opening weekend Seattle a four and a half
point favorite.

Speaker 2 (48:24):
Right now, I'm not on Denver's bandwagon. I'm not jumping
on that.

Speaker 3 (48:28):
I don't think I am either. For some reason, I
felt like Denver and Seattle played to start last season.
I was like, am I looking at last year's schedule
but already a four and a half point favorite? All right,
well again, I'm not gonna sit here and try to
jump on board with owing too much and proclaim them
as a sleeper team. But count me intrigued? Are you
counting intrigued?

Speaker 2 (48:47):
Is there anything you're gonna be watching in the preseason
this weekend that you know that you're all in? Like,
I can't wait to see Daniels because everybody said Dan
Sure's gonna be playing. Are you even surprised that he's
gonna be playing?

Speaker 3 (48:59):
No, I think you're going to see a lot of
the young the young guys, a lot of the what
am I trying to say here? The quarterback battles, And
I mean, the rookies are gonna have to play because
they neither seat time. But the quarterback battles that we have,
we don't have a ton. But I think you're gonna
see a lot of Justin Fields. I think you're gonna
see a lot, And I'm intrigued by that. Right this

(49:20):
is this is where he had kind of caught all
of our attention in years pass in Chicago with the
way he played in the preseason. So let's see if
he can continue to build on that. I mean, obviously
my team is in the middle of a true quarterback battle,
so is Denver. So I mean, all of those quarterbacks,
all at six of them that are considered to be
in the battle right now for the starting jobs.

Speaker 2 (49:38):
We're gonna see Kingleb Williams player.

Speaker 3 (49:40):
And of course, I mean, how can you not be
excited for the rookies because I've never seen him before.

Speaker 2 (49:45):
I didn't know if they were just gonna play like
one series, hand the ball off three times to get
him out there so you know, get him out of
the game so he doesn't get hurt.

Speaker 3 (49:52):
Is that what they're talking about the plan being for
both of them. I hadn't seen that.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
No, I don't know about Caleb Williams, but I heard
somebody else talking about, you know, just get him out
there to get some handoffs there. I'm like, no, no,
you know, you gotta throw some passes, especially if you're
a rookie quarterback, you gotta you gotta do something. If
you're a veteran. That's a whole nother story though, to
get out there.

Speaker 3 (50:11):
Yeah, well, one more quick one from Josh and we'll
grab our break here. Ats coltson Bills will have something
to say about the Dolphins and Texans winning the divisions.
All right. So I was talking about Seattle earlier and
not just trying to kiss up to Josh, but the
timing of his Texas pretty good. I'm trying to buy
into Indy right now, Arenie. I just I'm having a
tough time. A true first full season for Anthony Richardson.

(50:32):
He looks great, right, Yeah, they got they got happy
contractually with Jonathan Taylor, a little better along the offensive line.
They you know, they go out and they bring in
Shane Steichen to maybe kind of juice up this offense
a little bit. I kind of want to buy into
Indy a little bit.

Speaker 2 (50:46):
No, I still think you know where they were last year,
what a five hundred team. They were nine to eight.
I even think Jacksonville is probably better than Indianapolis. It's
Tennessee probably gonna be down there in the base of
But Texans have added so much to the team, and
I mean CJ. Stroud on what that guy's did last year.
Everybody expects them to just get better. And if he
gets better from last year, then I mean, who knows

(51:07):
how many wins all have?

Speaker 3 (51:09):
All right at Stinking Genius one at Plank Show, Everyone
go follow us at Fox Sports Radio. We'll get more
of your tweets coming up here in just a bit.
But Arnie has a bet he's decided he's making on
the twenty twenty four season shocking. It involves Arizona and Miami.
But he also has a list of twenty teams in
the world of college football with a shot to make

(51:30):
the playoffs. We'll see if your team made the cut
next on Fox Sports Radio.

Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called All Ball.
We usually talk all basketball all the time, but it's
more about the stories about what made these people love
their sport and all the interesting interactions along the way.
We talked to coaches, we talked to players, We tell
you stories.

Speaker 8 (52:05):
You download it, you listen to it.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
I think you like it.

Speaker 7 (52:09):
Listen to All Ball with Doug Gotlieb on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast.

Speaker 3 (52:17):
It's Arnie in Plank on Fox Sports Sunday, robs in
tonight working on a Sunday Mary's running the show as
always Steve de Seger with an update here in moments.
Arnie just got his wife back this week, and that
sounded that sounded just like odd phrasing. Arnie's wife was out.
His wife finally came back, but she was out of town.

(52:38):
So now you had to be on your best behavior today.
Did you have a pre show snack tonight or not?

Speaker 2 (52:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (52:43):
I did.

Speaker 2 (52:44):
I went out and got myself one of those big
chocolate chip cookies with EM and ms on though I
wanted one last night. And when I got off the
air at eleven o'clock with VJ, I went out to
the store and everything was cooled.

Speaker 3 (53:00):
The supermarket was closed. Oh, it's not that late. It's
not VJ and their show is not late show.

Speaker 2 (53:07):
And you know what, the gas stations were all closed.
So there were three gas stations with the mini marts
and they were all closed. And there's just nothing open
in this damn town. So like I couldn't get anything.

Speaker 3 (53:18):
You know, couldn't door dash anything or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (53:21):
Nothing's open. There's nothing open. Everything closes up. When I
drive at night, they say, why are you out so late?
It's terrible.

Speaker 3 (53:29):
You got like Barty Five's like, what are you doing?
What are you ready? By? Mary doesn't get that reference.
By the way, there's another reference I was thinking of today.
I went to a mall today, Arnie, Mary, have you
ever been to a mall?

Speaker 6 (53:41):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (53:42):
Yes, all right, we have this thing. And I don't
know if this is like a universal thing, if it's
a no clumbing thing. It's called a tax free weekend.
And so basically when you're buying your back to school
stuff because it's back to school time. My kids go
back to school next week, which is the greatest week ever.
And uh, I mean it was like nineteen ninety four
all over again, Arnie. It was. It was the greatest party.

(54:03):
It was packed. You couldn't find a parking spot. I
mean I was. I was kind of getting a little emotional,
my kids getting mad because usually now if you go
to the mall, something's really wrong or that's the only
place where there's an apple store.

Speaker 4 (54:14):
Right.

Speaker 3 (54:16):
Otherwise, No, dude, this was like back in time. It
was like the Raiders were good again. I was so happy.
That's not just happening for me right now, but it
did remind me back to school. College football camps are
going on first full week of the NFL preseason, but
also for a lot of teams, first full week of

(54:36):
college football practice. So real quick, for those that need
a refresher from the Tirack dot com studios, we have
a twelve team playoff this year, right, five automatic bits
five four to the Power four conferences that are left
Big ten, ACZ, Big twelve, and of course the almighty SEC.

(54:56):
Then you'll have a group of five team that will
likely get in. So welcome to the playoffs, liberty. But
seven at large teams were first round tournament games played
on home sites. So when we talk playoffs, usually that
list in a four team playoff might be at what
Arnie eight, maybe seven, maybe even six teams that you
feel good have a shot. In the preseason. Things can change,

(55:19):
but now that list expands. In fact, the Arnie span,
your list of teams that he thinks has a shot
to make the playoffs is at twenty.

Speaker 2 (55:26):
It could be more than that. But yeah, they just
to make the playoffs because twelve make the playoffs. Now,
I didn't go ahead and do it in any particular order, okay,
like I had Utah seventeen. But we already know, as
you said, that the Big twelve has to get one
team in there. So they're gonna be one of the
twelve teams. Now, if we just did one through twelve,
you could get as much as six SEC teams in there. Chris,

(55:48):
That's that's how crazy it is.

Speaker 3 (55:49):
I think there's gonna be six SEC teams a lot
of years.

Speaker 2 (55:54):
Can you do that?

Speaker 4 (55:54):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (55:55):
Even matth about there's no rules.

Speaker 3 (55:56):
There's no rules on that front. I mean, that's gonna
be great fight six if you think about it, Yeah,
you think about it. You're gonna end up in a
fight at some point over a team that is maybe
a three loss SEC team, Right, You're gonna look at
their schedule and you're gonna say they deserve to be

(56:17):
an over like a one loss ACC team, are a
one loss Big ten team or not Big ten, probably
more Big twelve. You're gonna have these kind of fights, right, right.
So I'm not saying it happens, but I'm saying I
don't disagree that you could see a lot of big
SEC team.

Speaker 2 (56:33):
I'm gonna give you a couple of the teams, and
then I'm gonna stamp it a funeral. I want to
ask you about it. I mean, obviously, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon,
I have Texas, obviously, But is Texas really that good
that they're one of the favorites. I think they're the
second favorite in the SEC. Going to a brand new
conference and going to the big boys like that, and
they're already puffing their chest. Are they're good Chris to

(56:54):
come on in and be one of the favorites for
the SEC?

Speaker 3 (56:56):
I mean, so this it happens every single year, every
single year. This year's different because Texas went to the
playoffs last year. But what happened when they got to
the playoffs, Arnie, they lost. They lost their three best
pass catchers. They're trying to reload through the transfer portal.
Their offensive line is solid, their quarterback is back, but
everyone who was anyone on defense outside of Alfred Collins

(57:17):
is off to the NFL. I don't get it. I
don't get it. But of course I'm an Oklahoma guy.
I'm always gonna question Texas, but I'm also going to
acknowledge that this happens every off season when it comes
to the University of Texas. Don't know how, don't know why,
but every off season this happens with Texas.

Speaker 2 (57:35):
I have Alabaman, Mississippi di I to ask you about
Alabama because I mean, obviously no Nick Saban. How is
that going to affect the team? I mean, you can't
just make an easy transition from maybe the best coach
in college football history and then move on up from him,
right is it gonna be that smooth, I mean, that
flawless that they're gonna be able to I mean, right now,

(57:57):
even if they were like the fifth best team, this
should be like the third best team in the SEC.

Speaker 3 (58:01):
So, I mean, what kind of years Alabama gonna have?
By the way, think about what you just said. You've
rolled through five or six teams that you think have
a chance. You mentioned what.

Speaker 2 (58:11):
Georgia in Oregon, Texas?

Speaker 3 (58:14):
You said, old miss, old miss? Did you release them
too soon? What is that four of the six teams
the SEC? Yes, so you can be a fourth place
team in the SEC and your a top six program
in college football right now?

Speaker 2 (58:27):
Mathematically odds wise, it has it that way too.

Speaker 3 (58:30):
I know, which shocked me last week whenever you said
we got a better chance to make the playoffs than
we do as Arizona tow to win the Big Twelve.
That's blown away, Arnie. I'm not trying to ignore your
Alabama question. I think that Caylin de boris done an
awesome job in opening up the program, bringing the fans
and the media in. So I think he's built himself
a little bit of a cushion, and I still think

(58:50):
they're going to be good guys. The most fascinating story
in all college football this year is at Ole Miss.
It just really I can't they're getting preseason hype. It's deserved,
tons of it. Every single player on their too deep
right now that's listed as a starter is a transfer
except for maybe two or three guys every one, and
they're not just a one year guy. There's a couple

(59:10):
guys that have been there for two years, like Jackson
Darthur quarterback. But it is a roster built unlike anything
we've ever seen in college football. So I'm here for it.
I'm fascinated by anything we've seen in college football. By
a Power five team that people expect to be really good.
Texas State has done this in years past, they didn't
win a national title. So I think it's one of

(59:31):
the most fascinating stories and I can't wait to see
how it plays out because it could change team building
as a whole in college football.

Speaker 2 (59:38):
Well really could the SEC doesn't I have LSU and
then I have Notre Dame.

Speaker 3 (59:42):
After that?

Speaker 2 (59:42):
What now, you said the five.

Speaker 3 (59:45):
The four is gonna get in every every year?

Speaker 2 (59:47):
I was gonna say, now, is that because of it
goes to the Power Conferences? And then what they're part
of the seven at large? Or do we just say
they're one of the highest ranking teams from the large teams?

Speaker 3 (59:58):
Right, they'll be one of the highest ranked teams is
the at large times with a chance to get a
top four seed if they have the Well they're always
gonna have the resume because they're non conferent are their
schedule period, But yeah, it's they're in a good spot.
They really got a break with his twelve team right now?

Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
For now, all right, I'll just give you two more.
We'll do the top ten, Okay, then we're gon finish
up later on. I got Penn State a lot of
big ten teams in there. Notice that I wonder how
good they're going to be this show, and then I
put Florida State in there. You know, we got to
mix it up a little bit. Yeah, get some of
the other conferences in there, and then we go back
to the old ones again. But that would be ten
of the teams right now that have a chance of

(01:00:36):
making the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (01:00:37):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 3 (01:00:49):
Steve's got much more coming up in just a bit. Okay,
Arnie's gone through this ten teams that can make the playoffs.
He's got Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, Alabama, Miss LSU,
Notre Dame, Penn State, and Florida State.

Speaker 2 (01:01:03):
We have some tweets on that too, you want to
let's get to them before we move on.

Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
It's thinking genius one at Plank Show. Everybody should follow
us at Fox Sports Radio. Let's see what do we
have got. Scottie Wrights Ole, miss hasn't won a single
game of consequence in the SEC under Kiffin Wild how
much chirping he does at Tennessee knowing he would have
left yesterday if he ever got off with the job.
I mean, listen, Scotty, I love you, dude. You and

(01:01:30):
I are probably gonna go round and round this year.
But I mean Kiffin was there and left. It wasn't
the smartest movie ever made. I think Lane Kiffin, if
he would have stayed at Tennessee, would have been a
rock star, and even more so than he is now.
This is a hail Mary Man. I mean it really
truly is. They did a great job last year, but
they're like, hey, let's ramp up expectations. Let's invest millions

(01:01:52):
into the transfer portal and into free agency, which Lane
Kiffin mintioned ten times during his press or at SEC
Media Days. It's gonna be fascinating, but he's hey, he's
not wrong. When it comes to big time games, Ole
Miss really hasn't done it. Last conference championship came in
nineteen sixty three and there haven't been much since. But

(01:02:12):
they're swinging for the fences. I'll give it to them.
And then one more quick one here from Banks, since
you asked, you don't think the echoes of Saban in
the Halls will suffice for a year or two in Alabama. No,
because I get what you're saying. It's not like they
changed too terribly much as far as the well what
am I saying? They changed about everything as far as

(01:02:33):
the culture is concerned, but the expectations didn't change it all.
I mean, having Nick Saban's mind, their matters. Now, you
don't think coaching matters whenever comes to college football, right, Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
Yeah, more about the coordinators. To me, coaching does what
college it does. Yeah, jokay, yeah, college big time.

Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
You just don't think coordinators matter. I think it's gonna
hurt losing Nick Saban this year, but I think it's
gonna be one of the funnest stories to follow. And
what they do with Jalen Milroe. Look at the improvement
that Michael Pinnock's made with Canna Boord. Now again Ryan
Grubs at Seattle, he's not in Alabama and he was
a big time difference maker for Pinnicks as their offensive coordinator.

(01:03:10):
But we'll see, all.

Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
Right, going through the other ones then, real quick, I
had Michigan eleven, Tennessee twelve. This is where you start
getting the teams, like, really, you think this team's gonna
make the playoffs. Yeah, because there's twelve slots, so you
know you're gonna have twelve teams there, and then you
canna have teams fighting it out. That's why I can't
wait for the Can.

Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
I fight against Michigan here a little bit? Yeah? I
get you know, because if listen, if they lose to
Texas already to open the season and they start to
realize these sanctions, they're really gonna try to get us,
I think it could go south for them. They're good,
but I'm not as all in on them as you are.
I'm not.

Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
I'm not all in but right, I mean, if we
just took strictly odds wise, they're the eleventh right now,
even after all that stuff came out about them, So
I'm a little curious what's gonna happen. I had Tennessee
A and m Missouri I put in there. I do
have questions about them if they're really good enough to
go ahead and fit in there and be one of
the twelve teams out there. Do you like Missouri? You

(01:04:09):
think I don't?

Speaker 3 (01:04:10):
Yeah, every single Missouri's got an outstanding roster. Brady Cook
is a rock star, might be the most talent Missouri
has had in a long time. But you know how
you have those teams and those programs that when they
get some expectations, they always seem to fold a little
bit underneath me, especially when they don't usually have expectations.

(01:04:31):
That's Missouri and I don't know, dude, I'm just not
as they've got to go to Tennessee, they've got to
deal with Georgia. I mean, they got Oklahoma coming there.
And again, I know I'm a Sooner homer. That's fine.
I mean they it took a sixty out yard kick
to beat Kansas State last year, so I like them.

(01:04:51):
Luther Byrnon might be the best wide receiver that we've
got in the game this year. Sure they belong in
this mix, but I don't think they're gonna be in
the conversation when we get to that point late.

Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
In ye year.

Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Two teams I left out, and I don't know where
they're gonna fit in, because they're probably gonna get in
based on just rankings as Bois State and another one
you mentioned was Liberty, but I didn't put him in there.
I'm fifteen through twenty. I have Miami Clemson, the usual
cast of characters. You have to have a big twelve
team in there. So I have Utah, Oklahoma, your Oklahoma

(01:05:21):
Sooners at eighteen, Kansas State, and then my Wildcats down
there at number twenty. But there's other good teams that
I didn't have Oklahoma State in there. They're getting a
lot of pub Central Florida's supposed to be a real
good team this year. I don't know if there's anybody else.
Really I that maybe we'll be able to make a
run based strictly because of ratings, you know, like I said,

(01:05:44):
because of Boise State. Some people say maybe Appalachian State, Texas,
San Antonio, they.

Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
Have decent odds. To be honest with you, Yeah, you
got some teams there that if they get a break
and they roll through their conference. We're talking about them
in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:05:59):
The Liberty Tony was only like thirteen to one to
make the college playoffs. So it's not like throw one
hundred to what that's That's how low that is.

Speaker 3 (01:06:06):
That's insane to ho When we come back to Saga
is gonna get us caught up on everything with Arnie
and Plank On a Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:06:14):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
All right, here he is Steve de Sager with Arnie
Plank on Fox Sports Radio. What's going on, Steve? Well.

Speaker 5 (01:06:25):
A couple more NFL exhibitions this Thursday. Moster are on
Saturday this week. Washington rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels will play
this weekend. John Travolta will not. He's still in France
at the Olympics. Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson could be cleared
to practice this week after the calf injury, and Seahawks
quarterback Gino Smith should return this week. Miss four straight practices.

(01:06:47):
Tests on his knee showed no significant damage. Has a
hip injury as well, though Brown's edge rusher Miles Garrett
after a hamstring injury at his first practice of camp
today as the team returned to Cleveland. Chargers edge rush
sure Joey Bosa left with an apparent hand or wrist
injury today in a joint practice against the Rams, and
Rams wide receiver Puka Nakoua left practice with an apparent

(01:07:09):
sore knee. The Tennessee Titans it's August, it's a knee.

Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
Though it's a knee.

Speaker 5 (01:07:14):
Tennessee Titans signed safety Quadrey Diggs Quandary Diggs is signed.
There are other dbs still unsigned, like Justin Simmons, steff
On Gilmour and others. There is quite a streak still
going in Olympic men's swimming for the USA. Apparently since
nineteen oh four to the present, in every Olympics the
US has entered, an American male swimmer has won an

(01:07:37):
individual gold medal every time at least one except in
this Olympics. When we got to the last of the
fourteen men's individual events in Paris, Bobby Fink swoops in
wins the fifteen hundred meters, avenging the defeat in the
eight hundred earlier in the week. He was asked about

(01:07:57):
the streak and he said.

Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Oh, yeah, I knew.

Speaker 5 (01:08:00):
The Hall of Fame game for the NFL was Thursday night.
It averaged about five million viewers, which is its lowest
viewership since twenty twelve, when it was also opposite the Olympics,
when they were getting great ratings that year as well.
The Olympic TV ratings have just been killing. There aren't
any TV shows that get these kind of numbers these days.

(01:08:22):
Through last night, the so called primetime window, the total
audience so This includes the little cable channels they have
and streaming. The primetime window is averaging thirty two million
viewers through last night, and last night was it combined
thirty four million viewers. And keep in mind with the
time difference, this does not include things like the daytime

(01:08:44):
gymnastics that so many people watch live Tuesday Thursday. Those
numbers were about the same as the NFL first round
of the draft this year, daytime in the summer. What
is going on here? The numbers have been crazy. Great
women's basketball beat Germany today eighty seven sixty eight. This
was a German team the US killed in a recent

(01:09:05):
tune up game. The Americans are three to zero in
the turning now today they did trail fifteen to six early.
US only led by two mid second quarter, but the
Americans led after the third quarter by twenty three points.
Germany had twenty three turnovers in the game. So the
US women since nineteen eighty four in the Olympics have
a record of seventy two and one. Brianna Stewart thirteen

(01:09:27):
points in seventeen minutes. Today, the US bench outscored Germany's
bench fifty two to thirteen. Of course, this is a
US roster that lost the send off game against a
team of WNBA stars. Remember WNBA is off for about
a month. NASCAR's Cup series off for a couple of
weeks until this next weekend. US has a three on

(01:09:47):
three team on the ladies' side. Let's do it, okay.
You know there's the regular five on five basketball. We
know Olympic sport is three on three also, and US
women's three on three yesterday won a playing game to
advance to the semis. It's five straight after it oh
and three start in that tournament. But the US men,
the three on three team is out eliminated today finished
two and five.

Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
Played the three on three.

Speaker 5 (01:10:09):
Yeah, I think you could have done as well, because
they lost twenty one to six in the half court
game against Netherlands. Jimmerferdett missed the last five games due
to injury. The regular US men's basketball team plays Tuesday
in a quarterfinal against Brazil. US women's soccer plays tuesday
in a semi final against Germany, which eliminated Canada Saturday.
So Canada is going to take its drones and go home.

(01:10:32):
US won its quarterfinal in overtime yesterday one nothing against
Japan Trinity Rodman the game winning goal, and I must
pass along that. The Dodgers say Freddie Freeman could rejoin
the team in LA this week. He has not played
in well over a week now.

Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
And this is an.

Speaker 5 (01:10:47):
Eight time National League All Star who's having another great season,
but has had a family emergency to tend.

Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
Two.

Speaker 5 (01:10:53):
Their three year old son is home from the hospital
now after being treated for a rare neurological disorder. The
Freeman say that Max had returned home after eight days
in pediatric intensive care. Quote, he still has a long
road ahead of him to regain his strength and to
relearn how to walk, but we are so thankful to
have our family back together. Apparently, while Freddie Freeman was

(01:11:16):
on the road trip with the Dodgers July twenty fifth,
his son, age three, went into full body paralysis. Rushed
to the hospital, finally taking off a ventilator on Wednesdays.
So there's a road to recovery here and he's going
to be back with his teammates. Freddie Freeman, we're talking
about this week, but happy to pass along that update

(01:11:37):
on the story.

Speaker 3 (01:11:38):
Yeah, good uplifting news. I hadn't seen a lot of
that information in just following along this weekend. Dodgers did
take two of three against the A's, but good to see,
good to see that his son's recovering. No rush, no
rush for Freddie Freeman to get back. All right, we
got the Power Hour coming up next. Great stuff to
Seger and when we come back to the tyrack dot

top of your sports menu today? What'd you end up

(01:13:51):
diving into? There wasn't a lot of current events outside
of the Olympics on the old Roman numeral rundow.

Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
No, No, I was mostly the Olympics today. I watched
a little bit of baseball, not much, but I was
most see into the Olympics, checking it out and you know,
just enjoying the day. Nothing crazy, it was the I mean,
this is the last weekend pretty much until we start
getting in the football and then next week we got
all that preseason stuff, so I can't wait.

Speaker 3 (01:14:15):
Yeah, next weekend's preseason is going to be fun to
overreact to a knee jerk too, because we haven't had anything.
Let me clean up two messes all right on the
college football side of things, And thanks to Scotty for
pointing this out. I was all ready for the revenge game.
We stand on business Josh for a Tennessee and Missouri.
I geve no divisions this year in the SEC, so

(01:14:38):
no Missouri and Tennessee this season, but boy, Missouri got
a little bit of a break on the schedule. Even
I in seeing a program that is at as good
of a place as it's ever been, the Missouri Tigers.
It grew up already. I grew up in Saint Louis.
You're either Missouri and Illinois or a Notre Dame college
football fan, and I really like Missouri growing up. This

(01:14:59):
might be as much TOI is they've ever had. But
you look at the schedule and suddenly you're like, h
looks too easy, too. Everything is coming up Missouri.

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
That's why they have good odds for them. I was
surprised at that. I'm like, oh, they must have a
really good team. But no, the schedule's that easy for them,
I guess.

Speaker 3 (01:15:17):
Not a challenging non conference game, no offense to Boston College.
You're tough. You do have to go to Alabama, right,
you do have to go to Alabama. And let's see
what A and M is. Oklahoma is coming to your place.
But get this. Their SEC schedule this year for Missouri
is Vanderbilt at Texas A and M. Auburn at home

(01:15:39):
at Alabama, home for Oklahoma at South Carolina at Mississippi State,
and home for Arkansas.

Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
It's not that easy, is it?

Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
What that's the teams that are picked basically to finish
about ten through sixteen right now in the SEC at
Alabama is tough. Oklahoma coming there, But I mean it's
the SEC. Every game's tough, right exactly. But in this instance,
you're telling me you don't think that's easy compared to
what Bard and Oklahoma had.

Speaker 2 (01:16:06):
I don't know what I was thinking, but I thought
you were gonna give you like, oh, there's only one
tough game on their schedule, and that this is gonna
be it if they get by that one game.

Speaker 3 (01:16:14):
Yeah, I mean, if if you do you liberty or
something like, do you expect teams to win their home games?
I mean I do so I would expect them to
beat Auburn, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Vanderbilt. And they're only tough
for a and m is always gonna be tough. We'll
see if kind of Wegman can stay healthy. But I
mean at Alabama, aren't they got a chance to be
a one loss team at the end of the year,

(01:16:36):
maybe even two loss They don't play Georgia this year either,
and be a regular part of their skins.

Speaker 2 (01:16:41):
And I gotta change my mindset because I keep thinking
over that there's a loss. I forget about that. But no,
you can have two losses, three losses and still be
in a pretty good position right now.

Speaker 3 (01:16:50):
And then thanks to our our buddies on Twitter for
the reminder Notre Dame can't be one of the top
four seeds. I completely space on that thing, Thank you
very much, Jason B. Diamonds. So where Chris was wrong,
thankfully Arnie had been right so much and makes up
for it. Missouri does have a very soft schedule, and
remember Notre Dame is not gonna be in a spot

(01:17:11):
for one of those first round byes for now, but
they're always going to be in a spot where I
think they're gonna get in.

Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
And it's always good to lose early. Then, I guess,
is that the assumption that if you're gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:17:20):
Goose, no, I don't know. I mean we're gonna say,
we're about to find out, Arnie. We're going from that
being a debate to decide whether you're gonna get like
two or three teams in. Now we might be debating
four spots. I mean, because you do five automatic, because
you got seven at large. I mean, if you play
the SEC title game and you play in the Big

(01:17:40):
Ten Title game and you lose, you're probably getting into
the playoffs, right, So that's too automatic. So you're up
to seven. Essentially you got five wild card spots. Are
gonna be losing our mind over you know what's good?

Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
You know how we always see which top twenty five
teams are playing, and usually when we get to like
twenty two is playing twenty three, maybe a good game.
Maybe not, you know, maybe we were not too interested.
Now just about every team in the top twenty five
is an important game because all you have to get
yourself into the top twelve. I know, I know you're
battling it out for conferences, but after that you're going

(01:18:12):
through rankings. So every game is important in the top
twenty five.

Speaker 3 (01:18:15):
LJ actually tips his cap to your count down of
twenty teams you think can win make the playoffs this year.
He writes, I'm tired of hearing the Miami Hurricanes are back.
Time to put up the University of Miami administration should
be ashamed. This once mighty national power is average. They've
been recruiting better. Time to see results. So Phil Steele,

(01:18:37):
he's big college football guy, right, what's out? This is
seat three hundred and fifty six page preview every single year,
and I think it's pretty good. Lot of year over
year stuff, lot of trend stuff. He's got Miami at
number five in like his preseason poll.

Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
Wow the list I gave you. Now, who's going to
make the I had him at fifteen. Yeah, and I
thought that was a little bit, you know, a little
bit high there. But that's crazy, yeah, one of it.

Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
And again he does his power rankings a little bit different,
but they were, they were a top ten team in
his mind. So that when I hear that, I kind
of think, Okay, what am I missing? But I just
can't see it, you know. The I'm still workshopping this take, Arnie.
But as much as I love guys like Dylan Gabriel
and I want to see DJ Lejonglo lay do Well
down at Florida State and cam Ward down to Miami,

(01:19:25):
I only feel like one guy has really made a
massive impact as a one year transfer at the quarterback position,
and that's Jalen Hurts Sam Hartman. I mean, listen, I
know we all gave him the Heightsman last year after
the Notre Dame Navy game, but Notre Dame wasn't a
championship team last year, right, They're just in Riley Leonard's
there this year. I just I feel like you need

(01:19:46):
a couple of years even in college, so I could
be proven wrong. All those guys I mentioned could end
up making the playoffs. But I mean it took two
years for Joe Burrow at LSU, two years at Ohio
State for Justin Fields, two years for Michael Pennocks in Washington, Arny,
it takes.

Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
I was gonna say, out of all those teams, one
one strong team I feel is kind of feeling the
pressure from their own fans. And that's Clemson. Man, my
good dabbo man. That guy. Remember a couple of the
press conferences last year, he was getting real tested, you
know what I mean, he was getting real upset.

Speaker 3 (01:20:18):
Yeah, he's he does not use the transfer portal, which
is wild. I mean, in a roundabout, we'll change quick,
I promise you that, But I mean, are you sure
about that?

Speaker 2 (01:20:30):
He couldn't have to.

Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
He's on year three and he hasn't used it yet.

Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
Well it's kind of like coach k you know, doesn't
want to go with the one and done for a
long time and he eventually changed that.

Speaker 3 (01:20:39):
But go ahead, Well, but I mean, if they end
up winning this year and they don't use it, it's
gonna be And if if ole Miss goes out and
doesn't do anything, then all these coaches that are antied
are gonna say. See but I like that. But I
think is he the pressure though?

Speaker 2 (01:20:53):
Isn't he on the pressure right now?

Speaker 3 (01:20:54):
From I think so?

Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
Really he seemed pretty testy last year.

Speaker 3 (01:20:58):
Well he might seem testing. But when you say and
see under pressure, I mean, to me, pressure would be
like your fans once you fired, right right? I mean,
do you feel like that went dabbo fire.

Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
I'm not gonna say one hundred percent of the fan base.
I'd probably go like about forty percent.

Speaker 3 (01:21:12):
Right, Well, I think the I think that outside of
what's going on with the Kansas City Chiefs, uh, forty
of every fan base once their coach fire, I really do.
I mean, and it's one hundred percent after a loss,
that's for certain, that's true. Let's see. There's a couple
more here that I wanted to get to at Stinking Genius.

Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
One.

Speaker 3 (01:21:30):
I'm at playing show and everyone should follow us at
Fox Sports Radio, Colin Wrights. All this training camp and
preseason news and video, it proves that we are collectively
desperate for the regular season to begin.

Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
That's true. That's true. I mean, we eat it all
up and we just I mean, you'd be surprised how
many people are tweeting in about the grades and you know,
what they see in practice and stuff like that. They
I eat it all up when I want reading it
on Twitter.

Speaker 3 (01:21:55):
Yeah, but I have the hardest time trying to figure
out what's real and what is and we we talk
about that an hour and number two. You can find
it on the podcast when we're done. But even in that,
you don't wanna, you don't wanna lose your mind whenever
you see one little thing. But Arnie, we've been waiting
for this forever. I mean, come on, now, let's go.
We should be allowed to overreact just a bit whenever

(01:22:16):
it comes to the Hall of Fame game and whenever,
even though we didn't get much from that or the
week one of preseason NFL Action. So with that in mind,
let's talk storylines, Arnie, Let's talk things you're really interested.
And I believe you had this down as Roman numeral
number ten. Is that correct? This would be preseason notes
for this week that we need to be keeping.

Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
On and put what I just put, I just put
Jade and Daniels. He's gonna play against the Jets. I
was very excited about that. I want to see how
well he's gonna play. It was the first thought of
the first announcement out of all those rookie quarterbacks that
said they were gonna play that. I expect a lot
more to play it. I'm gonna watch a lot of them,
but I'm excited about You're gonna be picking Washington for

(01:22:57):
that very reason this week.

Speaker 3 (01:22:59):
This weekend, I think three quarterback Well I'll add the
Raiders to that just for the fun of it. But
I think there are some very interesting quarterback situations that
are going on beyond just the rookies. Right. You got
Sam Darnold and JJ McCarthy battling in Minnesota. You got
bo Nicks trying to be the Broncos week one starter.
You have the Raiders in the battle between Aidan O'Connell

(01:23:22):
and Gardner Minshew. Yeah. I mean, and then you mentioned
the rookies. How about Michael Pinnock Junior in Atlanta Arnie Wow?
Yeah wow? If now and again, we're not gonna see
Kirk Cousins, so I would imagine you're gonna see a
lot of Michael Pinnix Junior.

Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
Right against the Dolphins this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:23:40):
Bro, if he goes out and lights it up like
I think he's going to, I mean, you're telling me
that suddenly, that's not going to spark some kind of
moment for Atlanta Falcon fans when it comes to who
should be the starting quarterback?

Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
Start this season at the gas and sip right now
saying we got to make a change. We got to
make a change, man, gotta go ahead, go with a
new quarterback. Forget about Cousins. We've got our quarterback in
the future. How tough would that be? I mean, if
I was a Falcons fan and I even though it's
preseason and I saw Pendix Junior put up some good numbers,
I'm gonna be talking like that. Also, I'm not gonna

(01:24:14):
be I mean, really, Cousins was just a band aid.
He's gonna be a one to two year stop anyway.
When I think about.

Speaker 3 (01:24:20):
It, Can I just point out the gas and sip?

Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:24:24):
Did you just drop a reference from the movie say
anything on us? I mean, he could have at least
gone with quick trip or something that's actually around there.

Speaker 2 (01:24:32):
But I think there's actually a gas and sip in Atlanta.

Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
But oh, okay, all right, I just didn't know. I'd
never heard of that one before. Well done, because that's
the one that could get interesting, well, two that could
get interesting. Where we think the quarterback situation is set.
We think Kirk Cousins is the starter in Atlanta, right right,
but Pennix goes out in careers right look out. We
think Darnold's gonna be the starter in Minnesota, but we've

(01:24:58):
seen situations. I mean, Russell Wilson and Derek Carr are
two great examples of that. Right.

Speaker 2 (01:25:03):
I tried to warn you about Russell Wilson getting that
starting job in Pittsburgh, it don look like. Matter of fact,
if I was gonna make a bet, I'm betting non
Fields will be the starter for Week one, But who knows.

Speaker 3 (01:25:12):
Well right now, I think that even injury wise, you
would feel pretty good about that. With the way things
are looking for Russell Wilson, It's wild. We're talking about
all these storylines for the schedule of games this week
in the NFL preseason, Arnie, and it's all quarterback, right,
because I don't know if we're gonna see running backs.
I'd love to see what Dereck Henry is gonna look like.

Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
YE say, you're not gonna yeah, You're not gonna see
Derek Henry. I was just about to say, it's not
like you're gonna see a boatload of Derrick Henry.

Speaker 3 (01:25:39):
Okay, Josh Jacobs in Green Bay? How much am I
gonna see of him and Jordan Love any you know?

Speaker 2 (01:25:44):
Can I just back up just to one thing about
Trick Henry just a little side note. I was looking
at that. I may have sent this to you. I
don't know about teams that used their quarterback to run
in to the end zone from ten yards or closer.
And the Raven only use Lamar Jackson like fifteen percent
of the time, where somebody like a Josh Allen is

(01:26:05):
like forty or fifty percent of the time. So I'm like, Wow,
Henry's gonna get a lot of carries then around the
goal line and to get them in and that that's
gonna be a perfect fit for them.

Speaker 3 (01:26:15):
So okay, But again, I want to remind you you've
been very down on Baltimore because of Lamar Jackson. Yeah,
is this something that can turn you and raise your
concern about challenging the true power in the AFC, your
Miami Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (01:26:29):
They could. Yeah, absolutely, there's no doubt about that. I'm
not gonna say they can't. I think they'll win their division,
though I think it's a two team race. Them in Cincinnati.
Don't have a lot of confidence in Cleveland. I'm not
a big Deshaun Watson fan, so forget about that. And
I don't think Pittsburgh's gonna contend for that division either,
can I.

Speaker 3 (01:26:50):
I know we're up against it, Rob, I want to
pose one more and you can make fun of me
for this storyline for this week, Roman numeral ten getting
paid off. With all the rookie quarterbacks we're gonna to
see in the quarterback battles, I can't wait to see
how certain coaches handle the preseason and if it's different.
Is is it gonna be different in New England? Are

(01:27:10):
we actually gonna see more of the quote unquote starters?
Is it gonna be different in Atlanta under a heem Mora, Well,
we see more Mike things that just in Miami, Arnie mine,
we see less of the guys in the preseason, knowing
they gotta stay healthy in this window. How much what
we see of adjustin fields Mike Tomlin, is he gonna
play his starters? Could Andy Reid adjust his decision to

(01:27:31):
play his starters as much as he does, knowing they're
getting a little older, Arnie getting a little more miles
on the tire, so to speak. You don't want to
risk any injuries out there at all. Uh, how's Antonio
Pierce gonna handle things in its first full season? We
know that Sean McVay has never My point is, I
just are we gonna see anything change in how some
of these coaches approach preseason? I don't think so. I

(01:27:54):
don't think we're going to What do you think.

Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
I think there's going to have to you know, people
say that the starting quarterback position or some of the
you know positions that are up for grabs are decided
in practice. I'm not so sure. I think you may
see some of these games where starting quarterback has decided
based on how great a quarterback is playing, as we
just mentioned, like with a Russell Wilson in the fields

(01:28:17):
are a Penis junior and cousins or something like that.
So I think some of the coaches may do that.
Remember we got some new coaches or was Vegas Raiders
with a new coach, and they may say, you know, yeah,
we're gonna decide that's on the football field. Whoever's playing basketball,
we'll get the start. I'm curious to say, although work
out the rotation exhibition action.

Speaker 3 (01:28:36):
Just by the way, this week gets in away Thursday
night with the Panthers and the Patriots. NFL Network has
that the other game of the doubleheader is the Lions
and the Giants, And it's kind of funny because for
a moment I thought, oh, boy, Dan Campbell going on
the road to New York. I'm like, calm down, it's
a preseason game the Giants. The Giants are actually a
favorite in that game. Arnie's picks coming up a little
bit later on your tweets to the show. When we

(01:28:58):
come back, it's Arnie like on a Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 1 (01:29:02):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 7 (01:29:08):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called All Ball.
We usually talk all basketball all the time, but it's
more about the stories about what made these people love
their sport and all the interesting interactions along the way.

Speaker 8 (01:29:21):
We talked to coaches, we talked to players.

Speaker 3 (01:29:23):
We tell you stories.

Speaker 8 (01:29:25):
You download it, you listen to it.

Speaker 3 (01:29:27):
I think you like it.

Speaker 7 (01:29:29):
Listen to All Ball with Doug Gottlieb on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast.

Speaker 3 (01:29:39):
This was Arnie's song that he picked.

Speaker 2 (01:29:41):
No, who picked this song? I asked for? First off,
this is jay Z Tom Now so.

Speaker 3 (01:29:50):
Like in shock, Yeah, don't.

Speaker 2 (01:29:52):
I'm in shocked. Arnie, you were being lazy.

Speaker 3 (01:29:54):
I asked you like two times.

Speaker 2 (01:29:56):
I get I gave you Beg's for the last put it,
and then I asked you again and then you were like,
maybe we'll have the listeners decide what music they want. No,
I don't mind it.

Speaker 3 (01:30:10):
If the listeners want to, I will say it's one
of my fae this. For some reason, I've I've fallen
into a a dary commercial break trap of editing audio
from a press conference. So I've been no help on
the music side. Mary. I barely even talked to Rob.
We haven't figured out if that Raiders are going to
make the AFC Championship or just the divisional round.

Speaker 2 (01:30:31):
By the way, I'm right again from last week.

Speaker 3 (01:30:33):
I'm right again. What else you want to pat yourself
in the back?

Speaker 2 (01:30:36):
Bill Fletcher just said something. Remember I said that one
of the announcers said, well, when it comes for the
gold medal race tonight, the swimmer is going to be
fully clean shaven because stubble could slow you down. Remember
I kind of laughed at that. Well, Bill says, he
shows a picture of Mark Spitz, who won seven gold

(01:30:57):
medals in nineteen seventy two, all wor world records. He
swam with a big old mustache like he was, uh
Tom Selleck or something like that. Right, Uh, so he
didn't have to shave.

Speaker 3 (01:31:08):
Did you see the difference though in times that we're
running that era and then now.

Speaker 2 (01:31:14):
Yeah, but he still didn't shave.

Speaker 3 (01:31:15):
It wasn't like so in other words, if he was
racing against the people who decided, hey, we're gonna shave
or we're gonna train a different way, he would have
got his butt kicked, just like the wild stat that
I saw today. Yeah, after watching the one hundred meter
final today, which again I still don't know how. Uh,

(01:31:37):
the American one, I still don't know how. No Allyles won,
I understand the hip right, it's gotta be the it
can't be your foot first still blows my mind. Torso
thank you. Yeah, Carl Lewis's time of nine to ninety
two five, which won him the one hundred meter final
in nineteen eighty eight, would have been good for last place.

Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
Oh get out of here.

Speaker 3 (01:31:55):
Yeah, so now again it's by like one one hundred
of a second. Are something ridiculous, but still it's it's
a little different world, a little different world. You got
to shave that body air and be faster in the pool. Arnie,
were you into the swimming events? I was all in
on them. Man, I don't know why I love. I
get excited, I get nervous, I getting mad. I'm watching

(01:32:16):
a stupid tracer thing. It's like a horse race.

Speaker 2 (01:32:20):
I like the mixed reway. I thought that was that
was interesting. I like that a lot.

Speaker 3 (01:32:25):
That was good times. I like this text better from Mateo,
who writes three things are certain in live taxes and
Arnie falling for a questionable or fake sports report. Oh
that is.

Speaker 2 (01:32:37):
I always fall for the fake ones. I did, but
some of them are good ones, though I gotta I
don't want to know they're fake.

Speaker 3 (01:32:42):
Mike in Jacksonville brings up a really good point. He writes,
I don't get the pining away for football when we
have so much good stuff to follow. In the off season.
I guess people want to hurry up and get to
complaining about the matchups they're watching in week one. You know,
Mike kind of sound like my kind of guy. I
love the off season. I love the offseason. The off
season is a time when you're filled with hope. And

(01:33:03):
hope is a very dangerous drug, I say, sometimes a
little bit too dangerous, but there does reach a point
where you're like, Okay, I got to see what this
looks like. I want to see a game. It's only
there's only so much team building in trades and drafts
and press conferences and player movement. I mean, at some
point we got to see it. So that's that's the

(01:33:24):
pining away from football, in my opinion. And unless you're
the Chiefs, right, you're kind of ready for the next
season to get going. Yeah, the Chiefs, you wouldn't mind
still celebrating.

Speaker 2 (01:33:33):
And there's already been five teams that have been mathematically
eliminated from the playoff raise in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:33:38):
So oh yeah, who's that?

Speaker 2 (01:33:39):
Oh one? Right off the bat. I mean the New
England Patriots. They're done. So it's already o v are
they They've been mathematical matter of fact, when The Sacred
does the update, I'll tell you the Patriots have been
eliminated from the playoff raise. Okay, so there they're done.
So they're no way they're even gonna be you should
even talk about that. Carolina, No way, They've already been

(01:34:02):
eliminated from the playoff race. Also, so you can you
can put them down to.

Speaker 3 (01:34:06):
That's two.

Speaker 2 (01:34:07):
The Arizona Cardinals. They have no chance of making the playoffs.
So people in Phoenix know that. They're like, God, it's
gonna be another crappy year for us. But I mean,
you know it, that's what's going to happen. So there's
three that is definitely.

Speaker 3 (01:34:19):
You didn't have this in the Roman numre Rundown. I
would have got to this earlier in the show if
you did.

Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
Oh, I'm sorry I put it there. Four would be
the Tennessee Titans. I mean, the Titans are good, no stop.
They were last place last year. They'll probably gonna be
last place this year too. No chance. They've been mathematically
eliminated from the playoff race. So I mean, you got
four for sure that have been eliminated. I'm not so

(01:34:43):
sure about a fifth. One to be out probably Denver
would be my fifth one. Denver are the Raiders because
both those are a hot garbage right now.

Speaker 3 (01:34:51):
I kind of dig what Tennessee did with its playmakers.
Do you even know that the moves they made at receiver?

Speaker 2 (01:34:57):
They they I do know some of the movi they made.
But let me tell you this, if you look at
if you look, it's hard to come up with a
bottom five. I mean it's pretty you know a lot
of teams have got some made some good moves, but
it's hard to come up with a bottom five for
just teams because everybody's pretty much you know, equa going
into this year.

Speaker 3 (01:35:18):
Well, I'll tell you about this much. Not many people
would have had Minnesota as low as they ended up
being last year. Not granted, one of the more wild
coaching jobs that we've seen with that many different quarterbacks.
But you know there's gonna be teams that people are
high on. Now, again, who's your bottom five?

Speaker 2 (01:35:33):
Who would you be as your I guess you'd probably
have the Bears in there, but you.

Speaker 3 (01:35:36):
Know, Caleb Williams and of Miami number one. No, it's
hard to argue when you just look at the odds
for not just lowest over underwin totals, Arnie, But teams
that don't have high odds money stretch the imagination to
win their division. I put the Patriots in there. I
don't think you can put any team in the AFC
North just because of how competitive it is. I don't

(01:35:58):
think you could put any team in the South because
I do kind of like Tennessee. Yeah, put the Denver
Broncos there.

Speaker 2 (01:36:04):
That's why there's two. There's two.

Speaker 3 (01:36:06):
I would probably put Washington there. I I mean, they're
they're playing in the with two takes.

Speaker 2 (01:36:13):
Several things, right, going to Carolina and Arizona, So there'd
be your four and five.

Speaker 3 (01:36:19):
You know Carolina would be there. Yeah, I don't. I
don't think i'd put Arizona there, But then again, why
wouldn't I.

Speaker 2 (01:36:25):
Yeah, you gotta have somebody in.

Speaker 3 (01:36:27):
Maybe it's Seattle. I think Arizona was pretty feisty at
times last year. Arnie. It's a pretty feisty team. You
had Marvin Harrison junior to the mix. They're getting better
on the offensive line. They might win a few games
they're not supposed to. So I'm having as difficult if
a time as you are.

Speaker 2 (01:36:43):
I'm just gonna it's gonna be tough for Arizona to win,
if you know, because the college football twenty twenty four
came out, so that's gonna be tough for twenty twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:36:52):
Five twenty five. Ay, come on, man, you got.

Speaker 2 (01:36:54):
No, you don't get my joke.

Speaker 3 (01:36:56):
I get your video game joke. But it wasn't playing
football games. He was playing like Call of Duty or
something like that. All right, fortnight with you.

Speaker 1 (01:37:08):
You're listening to Fox Sports.

Speaker 3 (01:37:12):
I'll go ahead and stock my Heidi hole. Make sure,
oh my doomsday prepper stuff is ready to go out
here in beautiful Washington, Oklahoma. Let me get a couple
of these tweets in here. Yeah, before we get out,
that stinking genius wanted playing show and Arnie's Pixer right
around the corner. Cameron writes, as a diehard Colts fan,
I don't care about how my season goes as long
as I hear the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (01:37:32):
Suck, and they do suck. They may be the second
or the second worst team in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:37:39):
Overall, uh scotty with a double shot. He writes, the
Titans were anything. If the Titans had anything resembling an
offensive line, they would have been a playoff team. Last
year they lost so many one score offensive ot games
because Levis couldn't stay upright. I liked Will Levis last year.

Speaker 2 (01:37:58):
I want to see what he does this year. Let's
go and I think.

Speaker 3 (01:38:00):
You're selling him short. And then he writes, Dabo is
a schmuck who made Joe Milton look like a competent
quarterback in the Orange Bowl a few years back. Dude
won't adjusted the times and will get left by them.

Speaker 2 (01:38:12):
You know, Chris, Maybe there was a certain I don't
remember exactly what it is, but there was one time
he was just nasty talking about Dabo. I don't know
if he was fighting with the media or probably fighting
with the media and some of the fans, and it
was just getting ugly. And matter of fact, didn't he
get quarters say, if they didn't want me around here anymore,
I go somewhere else.

Speaker 3 (01:38:32):
No. He had the person call his radio call in show. Okay,
remember they it was it was such a fake planet phones. Okay, Well,
at least that's what I think. Everything in radio is fake.
To me, it's all right to just ask crop and
so in my mind, whenever I see that and like, oh,
someone calls and tries to rip him and then he
tears the fan up and he got the fans platform

(01:38:54):
at his call in show.

Speaker 2 (01:38:57):
I think he did that because he was feeling a
little bit of press.

Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
Sure yeah, sure, oh this was good, bank Rights. I
just arrived in Portland, Oregon from my vacation at Tucson.
I walked by the Wildcats football stadium late one night
and Arnie breaking news rights Brendan. Next Saturday, the Raiders
play the Vikings. I think, I know it's only a
preseason game, but I think we can see who's going

(01:39:22):
to be the better of the four mediac mediocre quarterbacks
between the two teams. Last game between the two was atrocious.
You know your biggest mistake, Chris. I hate to say this,
but I would have liked your team a lot better.
I think you probably should have. And I ha no
offense against Minshew.

Speaker 2 (01:39:39):
And and you know O'Connell and he's actually played well.
I remember I was taking I put him in my
preseason Hall of Fame. But you really should have addressed
your quarterback situation last year when there was so many
out there.

Speaker 3 (01:39:50):
They tried.

Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
Yeah, it didn't fall in the right pieces for them,
but man, there were so many moving parts there. You
could have really, you know, going into different directions. Too
bad you didn't, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
Well, they tried to draft one and they were all
gone before they got to them. And I think Michael
Pinnix would have been the pitch.

Speaker 2 (01:40:09):
Well, could you have drafted fields then, I'm not drafted
traded for fields instead of him going to Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (01:40:15):
Or wouldn't necessarily see him as an upgrade over what
they have? I get well, I know that sounds crazy,
but they felt pretty good about O'Connell so.

Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
And they could have had that quarterback from Washington that
ended up in what in the Seattle right Howell?

Speaker 3 (01:40:32):
Yeah, I guess they just didn't think that much of them.
They don't want to go give up Tom to Lasco. Baby,
we're waiting on Justin Herbert. I guess all right, when
we come back to the Tirack dot Com studios, Arnie's picks,
we'll take us so next On Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:40:58):
All right, shout out, what is Mary playing today? My goodness,
don't do that right now. I do not do that.

Speaker 3 (01:41:06):
Did he tell you to play the Peanuts?

Speaker 2 (01:41:07):
He did tell me to do that, and I tell him,
why would he?

Speaker 3 (01:41:10):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:41:11):
I just felt like hearing it. And then he goes,
oh yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
It's the last song.

Speaker 2 (01:41:17):
Let's do something. He goes, oh, be instrumental, Oh yeah,
and I go.

Speaker 3 (01:41:20):
No, there you go, Peanuts, Charlie. Charlie Brown's dancing around
right now. Let's do a great job by Mary rob g.
You can hear on the Odd Couple this week all
week long. Appreciate him coming it thanks to uh Matt
Verderram who came on with earlier Sagre did an awesome job,
and the millions and millions of editors behind the scenes

(01:41:43):
putting together the audio. Big Ben Maler is coming up next.
Shout out to the Vegas members of the Mallar militia
around the area. Looked like it was a great party.
Bernie Fratto was there, And what you're you're hanging out
with Ben? This week?

Speaker 2 (01:41:56):
I am going to show you how much I can't
wait to see him. I'm gonna take him the War
on Friday, Him and his wife when they come up
here to Vermont, so I'm gonna go see him then.

Speaker 3 (01:42:05):
All right, well take it away, stinking genius. We wrap
the show up with you, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:42:09):
You know, I'm two and zero in my pick so far.
I'm a hundred percent. Hopefully I can keep that up
all through the year. Yeah, because the preseason is the
free season, Chris. You know, when I get any of
my picks wrong, I get close to hundreds of millions
of emails and texts about what an idiot I am.

(01:42:30):
Guess how many texts I got starting the year two.

Speaker 3 (01:42:33):
And oh Again, I'll give you two and oh, but
technically you started the year zero and zero, but go.

Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
Ahead, zero, I got zero text says good job, good job.
Nothing like that. Nothing win but even let me tell
you something, even like hey, good pick on this team
or the over. Nothing. But when I if I would
have gotten it wrong, even if it would have encounted,
I'd get all kinds of your moron. There's something wrong

(01:43:00):
with you. You should be fired. How do you get
a job like that? That's okay. I do it for
the people I do it for. I'm two and oh.

Speaker 3 (01:43:10):
Here we go.

Speaker 2 (01:43:11):
I'm gonna take Pittsburgh Stegos lay in the two and
a half against the Texans, who are gonna play Nobody.
Give me Baltimore. They still have that streak, Chris, or
did they fall? I'm gonna lay three against Philadelphia. Give
me Washington. Who's gonna play Daniels. I'll lay three on
the road against the Jets, who I don't expect them
to play anybody. Give me Cleveland minus three against green Bay.

Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
Hold on you, you might want to change your mind.
Remember the Ravens actually lost.

Speaker 2 (01:43:36):
Yeah, I thought, no, no, it doesn't So taking that
by like Washington minus three against the Jets, give me
Cleveland minus three against Green Bay. I'll take Arizona lay
in two against the Saints. And this one was tough
for me to do, but I'm gonna take Atlanta minus

(01:43:57):
two and a half on the road against my Miami Dolphins.
So there you have my picks. Do with them as
you please, no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only. So
six picks out there, started two and oh, I should
get all six, right, So I should start eight and oh,
I'm trying to go for ten and oh, which would
be a pretty good start for me.
