Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Let's go, stinking genius, let's go, big boy, let's go.
Let's matter for you today. How you doing? Are you hot?
Taked out? Are you okay? No, I'm okay. I know
that this is an important show for us today. It's
always our busiest show of the year, so I'm always
excited about today. Just so, are you going to throw
all your predictions out for the twenty twenty five season
or what?

Speaker 3 (00:24):
No, I just we know that the preseason is the
free season, and everybody tunes into this show because we
have the Hall of Fame game on Thursday, and they
want they want to start off with two winners. I mean,
we got gamblers that listen to this show now just
to get my preseason is the free season? Pick nobody?
Do you understand? Do you know why I'm not asked

(00:44):
to do those gambling shows. Do you have any idea.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Why why is that?

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Arnie?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Well, because I would, I would, I would break them.
I'd give out my picks and everybody would take them
and they they would destroy all the sports books. I'm
like banned. I'm like, uh, you know in uh, what's
that movie where they banned them from playing black jack
in the in the casinos.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Damn casino.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
No, it's not casino. I think it's night shift. Yeah, okay,
where they go. Yeah, they banned me. They've been well,
they're banning me because I give out my free pigs
and destroy them. You know, the preseasons, the free season.
I'm the king of that. You know that, don't you.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
I mean, do you want me to throw facts in here?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Are you good?

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Throw all the facts you want out? I mean we've
been doing this for picking years.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
You've quit picking preseason games, literally each of the last
four years because you're record, and then you'll stop. You'll
stop in about week two and you'll be like, well,
the regular season is what really matters.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
No, No, that is not true and not I think
I think I had one bad year out of the
last twelve years. I mean, so, so I had one
bad year. I gave you. I give you eleven years
of winners. I have one bad year if that's the
one you bring up.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
You know, unbelieving people keep records of this stuff, Arnie.
This isn't one on one sports. When you just make
a stuff up and people won't go back in fact checking.
You've been offul You've been awful in the free season,
and now you got off to a hot start in
the regular season last year.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
Now you might want to wear that.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
But the preseason, my friend, has not been the pre
the free season for you over the last couple of seasons,
and I'm starting to wonder if it ever has been
at all.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
I feel good right off the back of first K,
I'm not so excited, and you know, I'm starting to
think I want I'm going to spend my winnings on Oh,
I'm very excited about this year.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
But like, are you planning on like putting multiple units
on a Hall of Fame opener where we might not
see a single starter step on the field.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Did I mention to you that the preseason is the free.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Season many times? But did I also backed that up
with a few facts.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
You don't necessarily gamblers actually say he's right, like they'll
say he's absolutely right. I mean, the preseason is when
you get a big advantage.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
It is the fact. I don't disagree with that, it's
just you haven't been on the right side of that advantage.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Just one I mean, my goodness, one bag. You know
you sound like my wife if I do one bad
think twenty three years. She never lets me forget it.
It's unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Chris. I support you free season, stay hot, stay hot,
And I don't know whatever you've picked.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
And I was going to do something special for you today.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Oh yeah, what's that?

Speaker 3 (03:14):
My son found the cat, so we took it in
and he wanted to know what we wanted to name it,
and uh, well, the first name that came to mind
was Tua, of course, so I want the name of
it to the second name was the Sager. But you
had the third name?

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Oh I heard.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
At least I was in the top three. We were
in the.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Top three, so and then Mary was the fourth thing four?
Mary was number four was female cat.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Yeah, did make the listen number one?

Speaker 4 (03:41):
I know why is Mary not number one?

Speaker 3 (03:43):
I thought Tula was a good name. I thought that
was the birthday. Where is the loyalty?

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Does it get hurt? A lot.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
Was living in the streets for a while, so yeah,
it's it's hurt all the time.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Do you know?

Speaker 4 (03:58):
That's how we ended up with our cat.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Same thing like literally was it was a barn cat
that my my daughter's like, hey, we're bringing that thing home.
My dog attacked it, so we had to fix it. Yeah,
we had to fix its leg. And now, listen, I'm
allergic to cats, or at least I thought I was.
It's the best pat I've ever had. So maybe Arnie,
if you, I'm gonna fire you. If no, I don't.

(04:21):
I got to name one animal that we have, and
his name's Butters. I think this one was like Lucy
or something. I don't get to name animals. I don't
get to name kids. I don't get to name animals.
I don't get any of that luxury like you do.
For instance, if I tried to slide in naming my
kids Shay after Shake Stadium Bro, I'd be divorced twice
instead of just one time.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Your wife doesn't play that game.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
No, are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (04:44):
I don't run my house. You're the only man I
know that truly runs his house. You and I got
these people on Twitter. But the way the romanumal rundown
is great tonight. We have so much to get to
but I just have to share one thing this. First
of all, have you seen Happy Gilmour too?

Speaker 3 (05:00):
I have not seen it because I was one of
the few that thought that was in the theater, So
I didn't know you could just.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Well, but honestly, you don't get on Facebook, right, and
you don't get on Netflix regularly, so you probably really
would have no idea.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
And I think I have a Netflix account somehow, I
think I do have one. I'm I'm pretty sure I
have one.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Here's number two that I have for you tonight.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
You being a father of somebody that played a very
high level of sports, right, Shaye played at the highs.
He played college hockey, and so that means through the
ranks whenever he was growing up, he played at a
high level of competitive hockey. Well, this week I happened
to be perusing through the dial trying to find something
to watch, and I noticed in this Little League World

(05:44):
Series game, one of.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
The coaches got in a player's face and like push.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Your head back, like put her finger in her mouth
and pushed her face back, and I thought, oh my gosh.
So I put it on my Twitter feed and I
was like, but watching this, I'd be losing my mind
if I saw someone do this to this kid, to
my kid, not saying hey, you know you you can't
get mad at someone, or you can't get angry at
someone just if that was Emma or Gwynn. This is

(06:10):
being a woman pushing on a girl in Let me
remind you little league softball, not like travel ball, not
like high school ball, little league softball, Arnie, if you
want to have a blast, go get lost in those
mentions and you'll figure out.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
What's wrong with this world.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
I really, Oh, bro, it is hilarious.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
ARTI sol picked it up.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
It's hilarious.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
I don't think that was the only incident. I think
there was a female coach I was watching a little
bit of softball that did This is not the same thing,
but it is a female coach. Oh, it's okay, It's okay.
So maybe we're talking about the same thing that I
think I know exactly what you're talking about. They're very intense,
only not what yeah, white, Chris, it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
It's a little league softball game. And I'm telling you what.
There are there are people who's like, oh soft liberals.
You know.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Then the other side of it is as well, she
would if.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Someone did that to her, she'd be having her husband
go get a gun kick the woman out. I just
thought it was wild that in a little league game
on national TV, that that is your reaction, your kid,
someone else's kid, regardless, Right, It's just crazy to me.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
And there's not a lot.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
I think there's like, you know, sixty five or so
comments on it, but it's like thirty two thirty two.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
And then someone trying to sell you something.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
You know. It's just it's the wildest split. Arnie and
I just how would you.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Do you think people were gonna be outraged over these No?

Speaker 2 (07:33):
No, no, I just I mean I didn't think anyone
would see it, to be honest with you, I just
I just thought it was crazy that I saw this
female coach get that intense with a young girl. This
isn't a woman that she's doing this too. This is
a girl. And I guess coming to find out, it
was her own daughter, which concerns me if she's doing
that to her in public, My got what's going on

(07:53):
at Oh?

Speaker 3 (07:54):
She just kind of lost it. But I'm at you
okay with that?

Speaker 2 (07:56):
You know you can. I was gonna ask, would you
be okay if somebody put their hands on Shay.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
I wouldn't be okay with it, but I would allow it,
you know. I would kind of assess the situation and
has it been going on all year long. Is it
a one time situation? You know what happened? Was it
a bad play? Did they do something stupid mentally? You know,
even coaches can go ahead and have a breakdown like
that and believe me, in hockey, I saw some bad stuff.

(08:22):
I mean some bad stuff. Uh, and it just gets
really intense. So I don't think I would get overly intense.
I don't think I would jump to good. I'd be
okay with it because I know how intense hockey is. Sure,
you know, maybe and it is our own daughter, So
I'm okay with.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
You know what, that was my kid. I'm gonna have
a conversation with the coach. I'm like, don't put your
hands on my daughter. Well, the girl too, right, right?

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Don't reason I say that because you know, people say, well,
we cut out all negativity out of our lives, We
cut off all adversity out of our lives. How can
you overcome adversity if you never face it because you've
just cut off everything. You know, a little negative negativity
doesn't hurt. Somebody telling you you're not gonna make it,
or you're not gonna do it, or yelling at you.

(09:09):
Maybe that's the type of motivation you need once in
a while.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
So, but there is a right way to do it.
There's a right way to do it. What I don't
think i'll get the kid?

Speaker 3 (09:17):
It really is.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
That getting physical, Like if you want to put your
finger in my face, or if you want to grab
me or grab my kid, then we're probably gonna have
a problem. And I'm willing to bet that if you
saw someone put their hands on Shay right, you can say, now,
I bet you'd have a problem with that.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Yeah, but you know this is this generation. Would I
have a problem with it if when I was a kid.
When I was a kid, your friend's parents were allowed
to hit you. They were allowed to hit you if
you did something stupid.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
If my friend's parents hit me, my dad would kick
the dude's ass.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
At what the hell you're.

Speaker 6 (09:47):
Talking about that back in the day. I'm telling you,
if you did something, I'm just I'm close to the
same age you are. I guarantee you, if someone's mom
put their hand on you, your mom would have been
over there letting her know what's going on.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
I'll stop it. It's a different generation, I.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Know, but there's still your parents. Even though they did
have to remind our parents to see if we were
home yet. You know it's ten o'clock with your kids.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
It is o'clock.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Yeah, I got. I just got a kick out of
the reaction to it. Now, there is a very interesting
complaint early on to the Roman Numeral Rundown. Here as
we kick things off with Already Plank on Fox Sports Radio,
Mary running the show. Is always good to have Brianna
in tonight, even though she bailed on me on Friday night,
and Steve de Sager on updates.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
He'll be coming up here at the bottom of this hour.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
JP at JP Hunkle, one of the best contributors to
this Hellanberry radio program. Right. Yes, it is sad to
see that the Baseball Hall of Fame didn't make it
on the Roman Numeral Rundown. Just more proof that baseball
is dropping in popularity.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
You know, it's so funny. I filled it on Friday night.
We didn't really talk about the Baseball Hall of Fame.
I filled in this morning with Andy Furman, who's a
big baseball guy, you know that. Chris oh, huge, yeah, huge,
And we talked a little baseball, but nothing about the
Baseball Hall of Fame. And he's right. It kind of
maybe it was my overlooking it or you know, really

(11:07):
just it's kind of a gone to the back burner.
It's you know, you knew the you had the I
saw the speech by each hero. I thought that was
kind of call that the you know, the writer that
didn't vote for him. But other than that, yeah, it
kind of shows you what times we were in now.
Back in the day, the Baseball Hall of Fame induction,
that was a big thing, man, that was people would

(11:27):
cover that. News crews would go out there. It was
it was an important sports talk would definitely talk about.
It was a big thing back then.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
I was I don't know, and I, like you said,
I filled in on Monday with Mike. We didn't talk
about it. We did, gosh, we did a couple of
shows together last week. We didn't. We didn't talk about it, right,
It's just maybe that's on me. I'm sure in Seattle,
I'm sure those listening on our Seattle affiliate have a
much different perspective because I bet there was a lot

(11:55):
more talk because each row is being inducted.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
I bet your more people talked about the one voter
that didn't vote. Then you're actually making the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Cec getting in. You know, that's kind of split between
Cleveland and New York. Billy Wagner getting in Houston.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
I'm sure they're they're hopping there, Dave Parker getting in,
I'm sure that people are fired up in Pittsburgh. But
I'm I'm not gonna lie to you, man. I uh,
I honestly had completely forgotten about it. I completely forgot
about it, and in fact, I didn't even realize it
until I was listening to an update right after you

(12:32):
got off the air this morning. I was like, I
need to go watch that and so on me because
I'm in such a football mode and probably shouldn't be
admitting that right now. I might get called in the
principal's office after the program. But I mean, it's just,
is it because there weren't big names in some people's eyes,
even though.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
That one of the biggest of big names.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
I mean, he is a big name. But I understand
where you're saying that. Maybe that's one of the reasons why.
And too, there's been so much football news, even like
the little mundane stuff like Rogers throwing a pick out
his first past we eat that stuff. I know you
were eating it up, so you know, maybe that kind
of that shows you. Even the NFL preseason practice overshadows

(13:16):
the Baseball Hall of Fame. How crazy is that?

Speaker 2 (13:18):
And it was only on the MLB network, right? Did
they even have anything on ESPN or ESPN two about
it today? If they did, I watched, do not know,
but I will say the one thing that I did
want to mention, and thank you for bringing it up, JP.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
The one thing I didn't want to.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Mention is as I'm watching this, I'm having this moment
where I'm watching Dave Parker's son speak and I got
to tell you something. I had this moment where I'm like, wait,
I thought Dave Parker passed away. Literally, I've never seen
a more striking resemblance. Did you watch any of that?
Go go google it up? Just during the break, go

(13:55):
look it up. I gotta tell you something. I've never
seen anyone that looks so much like his dad striking resemblance.
I'm not kidding. I'm watching this and I'm like it,
did he pre tape his Hall of Fame speech or something?
It's it is uncanny, but a great class today, Thank you, Jack.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
Yeah, look freaking wow he does.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Well, listen to make sure we pay homage to the
Roman numeral rundown. You do have Hall of Fame number one,
number one, but it is the Hall of Fame game.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Now you hang with us. You're close right now.

Speaker 2 (14:31):
You gotta hang with this because I don't think Arnie's
gonna give away his pick early, because probably the only
thing that.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
He'll pick is this Hall of Fame game coming up.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Because the preseason, the baseball regular season, is not the
free season. That doesn't have a good rhyme to it,
but the preseasons, the free season, has got a good
rhyme to it.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
Well, football is here now, before we get too carried
away with this, are you really expecting that much on
Thursday night? Like, no one ever really plays in this game.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
No, but that doesn't stop people from gambling on it.
I bet you they get close to a regular season
game and BET's taken on this one. I think so,
oh yeah, absolutely, people are starving to bet on football.
It's the first game and standalone, it's a Thursday night
Chargers Lions. It really doesn't make a difference who plays,

(15:22):
it's just the name of the team. Oh yeah, people
starving to watch football again, I bet your people the
number of bets will be close to the same, maybe
not that the same money wise, because people will back
off and Vegas does have limits on how much you
can bet in the preseason.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
So you think, yeah, Thursday's game, you think Thursday's game,
gambling wise, will match a regular season game?

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Good match an amount of bets? Yeah, yeah, I really do.
I think people love I think people starve for this
for so long. Yeah, definitely, people want to go ahead
and put a little money on this.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Well, then when we come back to the Fox Sports
radio studios, let's talk about what you're looking for in
that game. Plus, I'm just looking at it. You got
a lot of good stuff. We got SEC conversations because
we're now starting to slowly move towards the season and
actually kicking off the college football season, which means we've
gotten more conference realignment conversations. Just to add it to

(16:17):
the bingo board. Man you've got. I don't know what
the rules are in college football anymore. I have no idea,
but now we've got a little conference realignment to add
to it. And I heard I heard the attempt on
Friday night to help you out with your move.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
I thought it was very short. I just thought it
was very short.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
I thought Mike and uh Ty Shirt, I thought they
were too busy laughing at your situation to truly give
you good advice.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
Because very upset about that. The man they were, they
were I didn't even know what they were talking about.
They were just like whatever they said was going over
my head, and I was I had a serious problem here, don't.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Well, we'll try to fix that problem as Arnie figures
out what he truly needs. And it's a good you
know what's funny about it. Yeah, you're kind of making
a joke out of it, but it's truly a good
practice for sports fans when you pull back and say,
what do I really need?

Speaker 4 (17:09):
What do I really need to happen?

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Truly immerse myself in all the sports I can possibly want.
So a busy night, we're just getting started. Breathe in.
Mary's running the show. De Seger's got an update in
just a bit. That's the stinking genius Arnie span you.
I'm Chris Plank. This is a Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 7 (17:25):

Speaker 4 (17:42):
But here's the thing.

Speaker 8 (17:43):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get.

Speaker 9 (17:46):
To and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blobber lame in me.

Speaker 8 (18:00):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 9 (18:04):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also going to
talk life and relationships. And if Rich and I are
arguing about something or we didn't have enough time, it
will continue on our after show called over Promised.

Speaker 8 (18:18):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored, by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.

Speaker 9 (18:29):
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see it
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with
Covino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
It's already in Plank. We're coming to you live from
the Fox Sports Radio studios. Are you when's the official
move date? Are you in the midst of it or
we still got a little time already moving by the
way to Connecticut.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
Yeah, I'm just getting my house on the market this week.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
Okay, Oh that's right. You're gonna be in charge of
selling the house.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:59):
My wife's going to be leaving in about six days
down the Connecticut.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
As a th your trophy husband.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Right, I'm a trophy husband. And she's gonna stay with
her sister who lives in a mansion down there in Connecticut.
So she'll live there in one of the wings and
I'll just be up here by myself trying to sell Stanley.
Me and Stanley and that's it. That's just roam in
the hallways and you know, just living the good life. Gosh,
she's gonna be gone for I have going down to

(19:26):
the Connecticut though, to see Seinfeld in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
So I'm gonna go see look at you getting out,
and about what's your drive? Do you know?

Speaker 4 (19:33):
Would you say three hours?

Speaker 2 (19:34):
No?

Speaker 3 (19:34):
No, no, it's like five hours.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
Oh okay, it's not bad.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
No, it's not about So I'm gonna see it Saturday
and then I'm gonna have to drive back up on
Sunday and then work with you on Sunday night. So
it's gonna be a little tough for me.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
You could take your equipment and do it from their house. No,
I don't have a mobile equipment, Like, oh okay, oh
that's right. Listen, we could really get nerdy on this
conversation because I'm thinking about getting what Armie has. But
we'll save you. We'll save the only person that might
like this is like curious, maybe Mary just a little bit.
But have fun, man, enjoy your youtime because that's gonna
be awesome.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
It's gonna be fun. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
How much how much ball are you gonna watch? You're
gonna you need to pull up old games. You just
need a break down film.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
I just I'm gonna be watching like every preseason game though,
just sitting in the man cave and just chilling and
watching everything. I would have the time of my life.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Well, we want to remind you that you need to
check out a Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel. There's tons
of great videos from many of our Fox Sports Radio shows.
Just search Fox Sports Radio on YouTube and you'll see
a whole bunch of video highlights from our shows. And
be sure to subscribe so you always have instant access
to our Fox Sports Radio videos on YouTube. Now, real
quick to kind of put a button on the conversation

(20:43):
about Thursday Spring Spring game, listen to me Hall of
Fame games.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
You did add what do you look for in this game?

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Like?

Speaker 4 (20:50):
What are you looking for?

Speaker 2 (20:52):
I I'm real curious just to see how both coaches
play it, because you know this is now your fourth
right because if you play in the Hall of Fame game,
you get that extra preseason game like every one you
had with four, correct, so everyone else has three, you
get your fourth. I mean, Jim Harbass kind of a
dude that likes to go all out for every game.
Dan Campbell the same way. But I just I don't

(21:15):
know if we're going to see anyone, So I guess
maybe my number one question overall, Arnie, do you expect
I don't think we'll see the stars, but do you
expect to maybe see them for a series if even that, No,
I don't expect to.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
See him in this one. I do expect them to
see him sometime during the preseason, but not in this
first game, not in the Hall of Fame game. I
just kind of watch it one because I've missed football
so much, just to get back into the swing of things.
Do I like to see who's gonna put up good numbers?
I always like watching the offense. I'm really not into
the defense in the preseason. I want to see, you know,

(21:47):
how the quarterbacks look, which wide receivers get open and
have big catches, how the running game looks. Always look
at the offense. I don't know for some reason because
because all the games are it seems like are low
scoring anyway. But I want to see the you know
what some of the rookies are gonna do. So I
watched for that, but it's mostly just for fun and
to get football back. I don't have any high expectations

(22:09):
or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
Okay, all right, but well, I mean except for to
make money, right, You're gonna gonna go out and make money.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Because it is the free season. I mean, you know that,
don't you.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
I'll tell you what I'm looking forward to more than
anything else is the Chargers drafted one of my favorite
players in the draft, and that was Trey Harris. He
was second round pick. I think they I'll have to
double check. I think they ended up getting him sign
I think there was only one player left that needed
to get signed, and that was Quinchawn Judkins who got arrested.

(22:39):
But you know, it's it's wild because we've had so
many debates, aren't he during the off season about paying
a receiver or draft one? You know, in that battle,
do you go ahead and go out and swing for
the fences like the Dolphins and the Raiders and the
Eagles did throw the Titans was yeah, the Titans went
out and spent on Ridley. You know, do you go
try to get one a free agency? Do you just

(23:00):
draft one? And of the guys that I watched that
Trey Harris didn't. I didn'tet to see him in person
because he was injured when Oklahoma played Ole miss right.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
But when I've had a chance to study.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Him and I watch him anie, I think he's gonna
be special Now he's got to be out him. I
like him a lot. I like how much in the
game do you watch?

Speaker 3 (23:17):
You watch the whole game or until you get bored
and that's it, you're gonna turn it off.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
I mean, I'm probably somebody that's gonna watch the whole
thing just because there's there's not gonna be And it's
funny because we spent It's buddy, it's ninety seven degrees here,
you know, it's it's not getting any cooler, so it's
not gonna be like football weather. But I just I'm really,
I really miss competitive football. And I want to watch
the interviews with the Hall of Fame inductees and you know,

(23:43):
I want to I don't know what the Lions, how
different their offense is gonna look. You know, their offensive
coordinator is now Chicago's their head coach. And all we're
hearing out of Bears camp is what just how complicated
this offense is? So, I mean, is it a completely
new offense or they just kind of riding with But
what Johnson did?

Speaker 4 (24:01):
I know you don't care about coordinators, but.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
I see that Colin's been picking on the Bears the
last couple of days. On the last Thursday and Friday
for his show, just going against Caleb Williams. Not looking
good early, that's for sure.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
Well, but do you put much? Do you put much
into camp?

Speaker 3 (24:18):
Well, I mean, aren't jobs won and lost in camp?

Speaker 2 (24:21):
I mean sure, but let's remember Patrick Mahomes was terrible
in his first camp. I mean I read the headline
regularly whenever we're here on Fox Sports Radio and listen,
no one seems to like remember everyone kind of thought
that he should not even play in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
Here's the headline for you, Arnie.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
This is from the Adam Tischer article on August first
of twenty eighteen. New Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has seven
interceptions in six practices. I mean, it's just I think
we get a little carried away with theseus.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
You know what, though you asked me if I care
if it's somebody like Mahomes now throwing interceptions, I would say, no,
I don't care. Well, this was this was his rookie year, right, No,
I understand that. But if it's someone like Williams, who
is you know, who was a high number one pick
and we're still waiting for him to emerge and he's
still doing it then maybe I've got a little bit

(25:13):
of concern on movie. You guys have that big year yet,
you know what I mean new offense.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
I think he's gonna be fine. I really do.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
And I think we get way to carried away over
preseason stats, especially in practice. I mean, what's who's the
dopes that keep posting the Cleveland Browns quarterback stats?

Speaker 4 (25:30):
Stop doing that. It's practice, guys, what are we doing?

Speaker 3 (25:34):
I did try to warn you about Cable Williams when
he was in college. You know, we we debated in here.
I just said, hey, you know, this guy's not everything.
I can see a few things that you're like, you're
a dope. You're a dope.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
This guy's metal does bread. So seven different starting lineups
on the offensive line last year.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
We'll see how dope I am after this year. This
is going to be a big year for him. There's
no king dope is what it might look like. Well,
you were ready to cut Trevor Lawrence too. I don't
know if you like any of the quarterbacks that have
been taking number one recently, you even want you think
Joe Burrow is going to leave Cincinnati. That's how anti
quarterbacks you are. Number one overall.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
All right, listen, we'll dive in all this more in
depth as the show rolls on, but we've got to
make sure to keep you up today on all the
latest breaking news in the world of sports, and we
have the best in Steve de Sager here to do
it all night long.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
What's going on, Steve? They might cat the saga you
came in second, you know.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
Just what'd you end up naming it?

Speaker 10 (26:27):
Just looking at each other, we all said, no, that's okay,
all of us here at the studio. By the way,
you were talking about the preseason schedule, starting with Chargers
Lions this Thursday in the Hall of Fame game. The
rest of the league starts its exhibitions one week later.
The Chargers did draft a running back first round this year,
a Mario and Hampton University of North Carolina, and the
second round wide receiver that you mentioned for Ole Miss,

(26:50):
Trey Harris, was on the field this week. They had
a couple of days of practice in San Diego. A
guy who led college football and receiving yards per game
last year almost one hundred and thirty per game receiving
and also at wide receiver from Auburn taken in the
fifth round and also practicing this past week. KeAndre Lambert
Smith with the long name. They just tell him, they

(27:12):
call him k LS.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
That's easy enough, easy enough.

Speaker 10 (27:16):
And Syracuse tight end Ronde Gadston, the second who originally
was a college wide receiver, was a fifth round choice
of the Chargers. And as far as quarterbacks guys that
have been taking reps, two of them with second team
offense so far in camp, behind Justin Herbert, Taylor Heineke,
and Trey Lance, so I'm assuming we will see those
guys in preseason games as well. The Chargers today gave

(27:39):
Tackleshaan Slater a four year extension worth ninety two million
dollars guaranteed. The Dallas Cowboys gave tight end Jake Ferguson
a four year extension. Washington wide receiver Terry McLaurin reported
to camp WNBA wins for Connecticut and Indiana. The Chicago
Bulls gave coach Billy Donovan an extension. In women's soccer,
England took the year final on penalty kicks against Spain.

(28:02):
Bubba Wallace was the NASCAR winner at Indy. That ends
his one hundred race winless streak which dates back almost
three years. There were two overtime restarts today. Kyle Larson,
last year's Brickyard four hundred winner, was the runner up.
So Michael Jordan's Steam gets a victory at Indy today. Yes,
co owner Alex Poulo won the Indy Car Race in

(28:23):
Northern California on the road course. He had another victory
for him this year. That's eight in fourteen races. Joaquin
Neeman won by three strokes in Live Golf, which returned
this weekend in the UK. That's his fifth victory on
that tour this year. Live Golf wins are worth four
million dollars each. New York Mets won their seventh straight
game tonight five three, the final at San Francisco, which

(28:47):
let's go a row in the ninth Edwin Diez the save.
The Mets are first in the NL East, that's right now,
a game and a half over the Phillies, who lost
in New York to the Yankees four to three. Meanwhile,
in the NL Central, Cubs and Brewers each one. They're
still tied for first and they play each other in
Milwaukee starting tomorrow. Texas won at six straight game eight

(29:09):
one over the Braves. What a lost season for Atlanta.
They've lost five in a row. The Braves offense went
four for thirty today with eleven strikeouts. A's and Washington
each one. Cincinnati won its fourth straight game. Detroit ended
a six game losing streak beating Toronto and Max Scherzer
ten to four. Boston over the Dodgers four to three.
San Diego a winner nine to two at Saint Louis.

(29:31):
Victories for Pittsburgh and Baltimore, and the Angels beat Seattle
four to one. Cal Raley of the Mariners hit his
forty first home run. Baseball's trade deadline is Thursday. The
Royals gave pitcher Seth Lugo an extension tonight, and yes,
the Baseball Hall of Fame inductions were today. Five players
were voted in this year, including Eachiro Suzuki, also honored

(29:51):
at Cooperstown, C C. Sabathia and Billy Wagner. Also Dave
Parker and Dick Allen. Those two were elected by a committee.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
Back to you, thanks Steve. By the way, I did
like this.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
It was I was looking through the tweets to hit
here before we gosh, it's already. My goodness, this first
hour is cooking bye, and my kid tweeted, he said,
good stories you had last night? Dude?

Speaker 4 (30:14):
Did you have some good stories this morning with Andy?

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Oh? Yeah, yeah, I was doing my I told him
my Kobe's story. And you know, Andy and I haven't
worked in a long long time. It's been years, I've
I've done shows with him, but it's been a long
time since I filled in. So I was just telling
a few stories, ones that you've heard over and over again.
I'm sure. So nothing, miss.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
Did he start a story and tell a story and
then you had a better story than him to cool
whip him? Did that happen? No?

Speaker 3 (30:39):
I didn't want him.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
No, I didn't. He didn't cool with him. I didn't
cool with him.

Speaker 3 (30:43):
I didn't do that though. I didn't.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Here's a couple of good tweets though, Hey Arnie cat
name suggestion the Hulkster. Hey man, Yeah, why do you
pay tribute to hult Cochin Dad? Is a good?

Speaker 3 (30:54):
That is a good in the Hulkster. I don't know
why Toua was the first name that came in my mind.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
I still I'm kind of, you know, I do kind
of like the Sega though. That is a good name.
Kind of you know, the com here, the Seger, com here,
the Seger.

Speaker 4 (31:08):
I'm a big fan of just naming animals names like
Mike and Steve, Red and Ted.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
I don't see a problem with that.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
No, I do buy the worts thing. I do the
sports thing.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Ah I got. Eddie does add a double shot here
he writes, did you fire Mahomes in his first year
in the NFL?

Speaker 3 (31:23):
I didn't fire Ballmes his first year in the NAC
Now you got people thinking I said Mahomes was going
to be a big bust. We didn't even talk about
Mahomes being great or anything like that. Nobody knew how
good he was going to be.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
I don't know, man, I think you might have fired him.
You did fire Otani? Uh? Oh? Victor wimen Yama was
another one that you can after his first game, which
I guess you could say still up in the air, right,
But Otani being a bust was one of my all
time favorites.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
Oh you like that one? Huh?

Speaker 4 (31:50):
That was my favorite. Mike double shot here this segment.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Tony Gwinn Junior similar to Parker, exactly like his pops.
Listen to him on the radio the way he talkalks away.
He laughs, I'm sixty but loved Tony as a Phillies fan. Yeah,
Tony gwyn Junior sounds just like his son. Bill asks
a very good question on the Roman numal rundown for tonight, Arnie,

(32:13):
Are you writing incursive to keep out the under thirty
demographic genius?

Speaker 3 (32:18):
That is, because under thirty that they don't know how
to read cursive?

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Writing? Is that way? I don't write or read it.
I don't think.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
Is that crazy that I And when I first found
that out, I'm like, how could you not know how
to write cursive? You should at least know how to
read it. Write. I mean you should do that at
the minimum, you know, read it is.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
My daughter is eleven.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
Yeah, and I don't really know if cursive is going
to help you in the future, in the world or
we're going But she's learning cursive like she she's It's
one of the things she's studying and doing every single day.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
This so she's gonna have to sign her name or
is that gonna be all electronic?

Speaker 2 (32:53):
You don't whatever.

Speaker 3 (32:55):
If she's famous and then somebody wants her autograph, I
don't know. I mean, there's guy, you know, you got
to do that.

Speaker 10 (33:00):
Come on, now, is she learning about herself or is
school teaching her?

Speaker 4 (33:04):
I think she's.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
Doing a little bit of both, because she's moving to
a different school this year, so she's got to kind
of catch up on a few things. And I think
she's learning cursive because she's a big writer. She likes
to write, and she just sitting here and learning cursive.
Now I will say I learned cursive, Annie, You learned cursive? Married?
Did you learn cursive in school where.

Speaker 11 (33:22):
You Yeah, they stopped doing cursive like twenty eleven though.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
All right, so everyone here learn it, right, Brindred percent Okay,
try to write a capital J or a capital Z,
and then you'll remember how we've forgotten how to write cursive.
I sit there with her and try to write the
capital J and the capital Z, and it's I'm literally
and a Q.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
Don't forget about the queue. The capitol kills a wish too.
Are they really do that?

Speaker 2 (33:49):
I'm gonna fly you to to Oklahoma so you can
teach her how to do it, because I'm losing my mind.
We're both remember back of the day, Annie, when you
get in trouble doing our homeworker dad or mom might
yell at us sendence to our room, sitting myself to
the room because I sit here can't figure it out.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Oh yeah, I could never ask. I remember the I'll
never forget this. The one time I really needed help
with a project. I mean it was a big project.
You had to put so much together, and my dad
pretty much did the whole thing for me. And we
got like ten grades for different grades like preparation and
what and I got all like d's and c's. It

(34:24):
was like the worst thing ever. And my dad couldn't
believe it. He's like, what the hell? What the It
was like the worst thing I ever heard in It
was horrible.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
And then one more here from Shady Sean for twenty
our man Sean Wrights. You need to start tonight with
the ultimate fantasy duo in twenty twenty four, cam Ward
to Calvin Ridley. Hey, the cam Ward height. Now that
we know he's gonna start right. The injury that took
place with Will Levis. We can debate and fight about
the timing of it, where you wait all off season
and then you get to camp and you're like.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
Got this shoulder injury. I think I'm gonna get fixed.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
Right, now. But cam Ward's if you're gonna go ahead
and put a lot on camp, right which to you
and I guess Colin will and everyone else, then I
guess we're gonna be losing our mind over what we've
seen so far in the highlights from Titans camp right well.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
And it's gonna be interesting because now that he is
the starter, there's not gonna be as much pressure, So
we're not gonna be you know, as tuned in as
you know, as panicky. We're like, Okay, he's gonna get
better because it's his job anyway. What I'm curious about,
and you know, we laugh about, Oh, you know, these
games mean nothing or these practices to be nothing. Tell
that to the quarterbacks in Cleveland. Tell that to Shador Sanders,

(35:32):
you know, to Gabriel those guys. These steps are these
steps are like the Super Bowl for cry it out loud,
you know what I mean. They're trying to make the team.
They're trying to work out with the first team right now.
They're important snaps.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
I will dive into that controversial situation in Cleveland when
we come back, plus more on the Lakers, and speaking
of controversy, because everybody has a podcast. Now, I guess
you can say whatever you want or can you. We'll
talk about Jeff Tague next on Fox Sports Radio. So
what do you make, Arnie of what Jeff Teague had
to say this week? What you make of the begin accusation.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
At the beginning of the week when he made the
accusation that Lebron had taken some steroids, right, I totally
believed it because he backed it up by saying he
missed what was a couple of weeks.

Speaker 4 (36:18):
Do you want me to play for you real quick?

Speaker 2 (36:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Yeah, yeah those and missed it? All right, this is
what we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
He was on steroids, bro.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
He had to sit out.

Speaker 12 (36:24):
He was on steroids for real. Legit was on steroids, bro.
I'm allegedly, but like, he had to sit out.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
But you'll remember when they told him, like they sports.

Speaker 12 (36:36):
Though now they was like everybody they started chasing testing
forg H and they was like yo, and he had
to sit out, like he said, his back was her
and he set out for like three weeks and he
came back, skinny. This is just I was in the league,
I remember, and he came back and he was he
was crazy.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Though it might have been the best brond bro.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
But I will say you can't make those accusations and
then say allegedly.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Right right. I believe that when I heard it, because
when he said that, he sat out like three weeks
and came back skinn ye. I thought he was talking about,
you know, something he knew firsthand knowledge about couple things
about this one. I don't believe him anymore. He did
backtrack h and I just don't believe him too. I
don't really care anymore. I think athletes should just take
whatever the hell they want, especially you know, when they're

(37:23):
trying to heal, when they're trying to go ahead and
get back on the field, when they're trying to play,
and they've had so many injuries and and they've gone
through so much with their bodies, and you know, they're
they're really not going to put too much in their
bodies that is going to be harmful for them. So
you know, if it could make them get back on
the field and it's healthy, and you know, if it's

(37:43):
a steroid, then so be it. But I don't think
the fans care at all. I don't think it's you know,
it's a big thing anymore. I think those days of
you know, the baseball players and who's on steroids. I
think that's far in the distance. I don't think fans
think about that anymore, especially in the ball.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
I'll also add, I don't think we can pay. I
don't think we care about concussions. I think there are
I don't think we care about players union battles. I
think we like to sit here and act like we
do when we need something to talk about.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
But exactly, but.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Even you, whenever Tua had his had his most recent concussion,
You're like, oh, he needs to get back out there
and play, you know, after one point, I mean, we
have this fake kind of care that only matters until
the game starts. And then he kind of realized, I
mean he tested positive for what, I don't care get

(38:37):
him back out there. So when did he backtrack? What
do he say? Do he say, hey, I made that up,
or I don't have that information, or do he just
when he said allegedly that that was his backtrack.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
No, that wasn't the backtrack. He came out and then
said something else. I don't know the exact wording of it,
but he pretty much said that, No, Lebron wasn't on steroids.
And you know, he didn't say he missmoke or anything,
but he just he you know, backtracked it and walked
it back.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
He said he was confronted at a gas station by
a Lebron fan.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
Yes, yes, I saw that right right.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
T walked back those come and said he was just
joking about how dominant James was at the time.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
No, that's not a joke. That's not a joke.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
I think that's my new favorite thing is when someone
says something controversial and at the very least tries to
have a report that they stand behind, right, and they
go in on it. Because I went back and listened
to the whole segment because I wanted to get the context.
He never said, na, nah, guys, I'm just joking.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
It's just a joke.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
No.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
They they literally went all in on it.

Speaker 2 (39:48):
So when you cut back out later like, noah, man,
I'm just joking, you're not How.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Or letters did Lebron's representative sending this.

Speaker 4 (39:58):
Guy, Oh, I don't know. I probably a lot.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
Threatened me with jail, probably.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
I mean, there is an allegation out there that Lebron
was going after some of the AI stuff that we saw.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
That that's true, that I don't know. I think that's
a true story.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
I don't know what's well.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
I could fall for those stories, though.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
Well, I know I know what is not true.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
I mean, I know that Lebron didn't have a baby
and that Steph Curry was waiting for him whenever the
baby was born.

Speaker 4 (40:26):
I mean, I know that to be true. But I
will say.

Speaker 2 (40:29):
I think, yeah, I feel pretty confident in that one, Arnie.
But I will say if i'm if I'm pure and
I haven't done pure that's not the word, but you know,
if I haven't cheated or I haven't taken steroids, and
we might not care. But I think to certain athletes
it matters a lot whenever they've done the hard work
and they haven't cheated. Bro, when someone makes an allegation

(40:49):
like that, we're fighting. I mean, that's one we're throwing hands.
I mean, it's gonna be ugly, especially if you didn't
do anything. So I'm glad he walked it back. I
wish you just would have said, hey, someone to told
me that one time. I thought it'd be fun to
talk about. Obviously it didn't happen. I'm sorry, But when
you're like, no, man, I'm just joking. Come on, he
got caught.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
It's fun that that's not the thing you have to say.
I'm a dope. It was stupid for me to bring
that up.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
Absolutely all right. When we come back to the Fox
Sports Radio studios, we got a lot of Roman numerals
to hit on the Roman numeral rundown here on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
Here we go, Stinking genius Scoreward two hour two, come
to your live for the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Very
active on Twitter. It's the best way to stay in
touch Twitter X. I'm sorry. Some day I realize they've
changed at a Stinking Genius one. I'm at Plank Show.
Everybody go follow us at Fox Sports Radio, Arnie. You
know me, I go by the Roman numeral rundown. It

(41:47):
is my bible. It is the rundown for this show.
It is the most important thing period. I am shocked
by roman numeral eleven. Shock Lord. And I'm gonna be
honest with you. I don't know if I believe it
or not.

Speaker 3 (42:02):
I do. It was paid me to write it in there.
I'm like, do we sure we want to bring this up?
Maybe I should wait till the preseason's done. Maybe I
should wait to see how too looks.

Speaker 4 (42:11):
But no, I don't think two is going to play
in the preseason, do you No?

Speaker 2 (42:16):
Maybe one game? You know what?

Speaker 3 (42:17):
Now, I do know this that if two it does
go down with an injury, and god forbid that does happen,
we now have a quarterback that could come in and
win some games.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
Now, right, are you really going to do this to yourself?

Speaker 3 (42:31):
What do you mean?

Speaker 4 (42:32):
You're really gonna do this to yourself?

Speaker 3 (42:34):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 4 (42:35):
You're a believer in Zach Wilson.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
I was thinking more like yours. Oh yeah, how goodie book?
Did practice?

Speaker 2 (42:43):
One highlight that whin?

Speaker 4 (42:47):
Yeah, it's so funny.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
All it takes is one highlight that's positive or one
highlight that's negative, and everyone's like, boy, I don't know
what's going on with Caleb Williams.

Speaker 4 (42:57):
Look, Aaron Rodgers can't do this.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
The funny thing is all the highlights of Caleb Williams
that have kind of gone viral have been from last
year's camp, and so this bears I guess. Blogger posted
a video of JJ McCarthy throwing a bunch of picks
from last year's camp, and everyone started losing their minds.
So I don't even know what's real and what's not
real anymore. In some of these videos to.

Speaker 3 (43:17):
The story about j J McCarthy having trouble with the offense,
is that a bogus story?

Speaker 2 (43:21):
I don't know. I don't know what's real and what isn't.
But I'll go with it because I'll tell you what.
The Four Letter Network has talked so much about JJ
McCarthy and they have so little footage of him in
a Vikings uniform that they can use watch.

Speaker 4 (43:35):
I've got it all memorized.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
I mean, I really do, because it's four passes and
they're all against dudes that never made the Raiders. I mean,
it's just it's a there's some guy that's you know
how you always talk about the referees and what number
they wear, like number eighty six out there in a
basketball game, Like there's a corner that gets burned that's
wearing like eighty two isn't corner. It's like what are
we doing out here? So I'm I am not in

(43:58):
on JJ McCarthy right now. And now you add into
it the Justin Jefferson injury news that hit this week.
Now I know it's not a big deal. Everyone was
a hamstring or something, hamstring injury opposite handstring of the
one that cost him a lot of time a couple
of years ago. But there's three injuries that scare me
right outside of you know, tears and broken legs. But

(44:18):
you give me a high ankle sprain. I'm worried about
that all season long, all season long, Arnie. You give
me a core injury, right, like a soft tissue injury,
a core insury, I'm worried. And you give me a
hamstring injury to an elite athlete, a receiver, running back,
hal even a quarterback. Dude, that scares me for the

(44:39):
entire season.

Speaker 3 (44:40):
Does him having the hamstring injury on the other leg?
Was that one of the reasons why it happened on
this one? Or No?

Speaker 2 (44:48):
I don't think, Well that's two years ago. Took so
so he said he was last year.

Speaker 3 (44:52):
Didn't he missed games last year with that? Didn't he?

Speaker 2 (44:55):
I think he was pretty good last year. I don't
think he missed a game last year. He's he had
think it was twenty four? Well, I guess I can
look this up while we're just kind of no.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
But I just didn't. I didn't know if it was
like a precursor to why maybe he's getting hamstring problems there,
maybe you know, because he had one earlier that has
nothing to do with that.

Speaker 2 (45:12):
So yeah, twenty three was the year where he had
the hamstring injury. He played in all seventeen games last year,
so he missed well, that ended up being seven games
that he missed. He he didn't start eight games, so yeah,
that was twenty twenty three that he missed a little
bit of time. So I wouldn't be freaking out about
it too much. But I guess, why are you trying
to find yourself a new team now that you're not

(45:34):
buying in No on the Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (45:37):
No, I'm not fighting myself a new team. I was conservatives.
I thought it was last year, but it was it
was two years ago, and that could have been a problem.
It probably won't be anything, but you never know, especially
like you said, with hamstrings, you never know when that's
going to act up. And then next thing you know,
you have to not do anything for like three weeks.

Speaker 2 (45:54):
Yeah, and then then you got to get your wind back.
I'm sure for a guy like Justin Jefferson wouldn't take
too long. You got to work about that over compensation, right,
you have a hamstring injury, you gotta trust it. Then
then you worry about the other leg if you put
too much on that. So there's I get it. I'm
not trying to freak out Viking fans. You guys probably
are freaked out enough right now with everything you're going through.

(46:14):
But I don't know. I just saw that this week
and that concerned me. Hey, I didn't notice on the
Roman numal rundown since we're in on some nonsensical NFL
notes right now, the Shamar Stewart didn't do enough for
you to make the Roman numal rundown tonight.

Speaker 3 (46:28):
I think it's because I did it. What Friday night
is one of the UK and I was Friday afternoon. Yeah,
Friday afternoon fill in with Harmon. So we got to
that a lot.

Speaker 2 (46:39):
Oh so you had Okay, that's fair enough, But I
just I find it hilarious how it went. This is football.
This is like deadlines. Negotiations. Spur action are deadline spur action,
And in these negotiations, all we heard is Mike Brown
has ruined this year's press conference, right, and then literally
two days later the guys out on the field. I

(47:01):
just I think sometimes Jerry Jones is another great example.

Speaker 4 (47:05):
Last year, everyone's losing their mind.

Speaker 2 (47:07):
Because the game, to him, it's a game in the job.
He loves it, right, and he doesn't care how much
he spends. But the CD Lamb stuff last year, aren't
he remember, He's like, I'm a no urgency to sign
ceed Lamb to a deal. And two weeks later he
signed to a deal and today pay Micah, they're chanted
Cowboys camp and what's he's kind of like leading, Jerry
Jones is they're leading on the cheers. So I don't

(47:28):
I don't know. I think ninety percent of the time
we lose our minds and we want to say owners
are blowing this or blowing that, and then lo and behold,
magically the deal gets done and that crazy that works out,
you know.

Speaker 3 (47:39):
I think Jerry, it's more like a game to him.
He likes to go ahead and think like he's one better,
you know, upping everybody else, and he's the smartest guy
in the room. I could only imagine what they're saying
to him when the TV cameras aren't rolling or there's
no microphones in front of him, and they're probably going, no,
you don't say that, don't say get it done, and yeah,

(48:01):
he's he just bought a whole bunch of air. It's
they got it done. We knew it was gonna get done.
These these holdouts, it's more of the owners just trying
to one up everybody and being you know, being macho
and think they're better than everybody else.

Speaker 4 (48:17):
Circling back to your dolphins. So this is a yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (48:20):
Am I am well.

Speaker 3 (48:23):
Losing Jonald Smith the tight end that really hurt. I mean,
that's like ninety receptions and that takes you know, we
got to replace that.

Speaker 2 (48:31):
What do we do? Funny because everyone, I'm sorry, didn't
mean to jump in on you, but it's funny because
everyone's dumping on to being a Steeler. It's like, oh,
it's not that you're sitting here like wait a minute,
hold on, guys. He's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (48:40):
I mean, oh yeah, he's had ninety plus receptions like
three four years in a row. And now he's gone,
and who do we get in his place? The guy
that we put on the physically unable to perform was
in Waller, who had retired. Why not at least why
did you go off to know a fan because you
knew this was gonna happen. Yeah, yeah, I don't know
why you didn't think about bringing him into camp. So

(49:03):
that's the first thing. Then I see the odds on
how the Patriots and the Dolphins both both have the
same over underwin total, but yet the Patriots are overwhelmingly
money wise to finish second place in that division, Dolphins third.
And then now all this stuff with Tua and Tyreek Hill.

(49:23):
You know, it's just like they're not on the same page.
He's not ripping Tyreek hile, but he wants them to.
You know, he used some warning. I'm not sure exactly
what it was. You could tell there's a there's some
animosity there. There's a problem, and I think it goes
back to where Tyreek Hill wanted to be off the Dolphins.
I think Tua took it personally last year when Tyreek
was talking about trade me, get me out of here,

(49:44):
stuff like that. I don't know why that would bother him.
Now you have to get over something like that. But
I think that kind of that kind of throws a little,
you know, bad things into it. Having two and your
best receiver not on the same page. I think Waddle's
gonna have a good year, but I'm concerned about him. Offensively,
I'm glad that a Chan will be the full time

(50:06):
starting running back. Hopefully he stays healthy. But I'm just
not feeling overall positive like I do every year with them,
you know, winning the division or something like that.

Speaker 11 (50:17):
When you say something like that, it's you don't just
come back from that with Hey, my bad. You know
you got you gotta work that relationship up. You got
to build everything up again. And it's still a work
in progress, not just for me but for everybody. But
you know, like I said, he's working on himself. He's
working on the things that he say, you know, he
says he wants to get better with and do better on.

Speaker 3 (50:38):
So that's the first step to me, and so I
commend him.

Speaker 2 (50:41):
Tyreek's totally getting traded, right, I mean that's he's totally
getting traded. There's just no way quarterbacks whenever there is
a situation or anybody. I even listen to Joe Burrow
and how frustrated he is with these holdouts, but how
he's like, hey, listen, you know, it's business. I mean,
here's too, which, by the way, I expect the heck
out of it are and he makes me like him

(51:01):
even more. But to it comes down like, hey, you
can't say stuff like that that you don't want to
be here and then you want to be traded. Then
you just saw all of a sudden be like George
Castan said, like, hey, yeah, no, no, no, no, it's
just back.

Speaker 4 (51:13):
I didn't quit.

Speaker 3 (51:14):
It's only irresponsible. I think that was the terminology that
he used. I'm just don't think I responsible. It's not
that I'm mad at him or anything like that. That's
what I think. That was pretty much paraphrasing what he said.

Speaker 4 (51:25):
I mean, you just heard what he said.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
So it's just it's one of those things that I mean,
I kind of respect to it for it, and I'm
happy for you right now that you're allowing yourself to
have normal expectations for your team.

Speaker 3 (51:39):
Well done well with normal expectations. I'm I'm worried we're
not even gonna make this thinking playoffs.

Speaker 4 (51:45):
I can't go normal for where you guys are, right,
I can't.

Speaker 3 (51:49):
Ye, No, that paid me so much last year and
with Arizona not being any good, that was the worst
football year ever. This is this has got to be
a turnaround yere for me. Come on, let's go.

Speaker 4 (52:01):
Well I will, I will add best of luck.

Speaker 2 (52:05):
I know that whenever it comes time to pick the games,
or at the very least make our divisional selections, you're
still gonna pick the Dolphins because someone's gonna have a
good preseason that's gonna blow you away. I haven't quite
a try. I got my depth chart up here. I
was looking it might be yours, you know. I I
do like Oli Gordon, you got the sixth round out

(52:26):
of Oklahoma State.

Speaker 3 (52:27):
If there's one thing I do know is that Dolphins
are better than your Raiders. That I do promise you.
I guarantee you that.

Speaker 2 (52:34):
You want to bet on it?

Speaker 3 (52:36):
Oh my job?

Speaker 4 (52:38):
Okay, I bet your job that the Raiders have more
wins and.

Speaker 3 (52:41):
The sager's job too. How about that.

Speaker 2 (52:43):
Well, I'm not putting my job on the line for anything,
because I mean, I got it kid in private school
now and a kid going to college. But I'll put
a C note on it. Then I bet the Raiders
end up with more wins than the.

Speaker 3 (52:54):
Dolphins, not even going to be close.

Speaker 4 (52:56):
So you're betting your job on this?

Speaker 3 (52:58):
What is what is the over on their win total
for the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (53:01):
Is I think we're it's seven and a half.

Speaker 3 (53:03):
Okay, it's it's only one behind the Dolphins. I think
the Dolphins were eight and a half.

Speaker 2 (53:07):
Is that what it was for Yeah?

Speaker 3 (53:08):
Yeah, eight and a half or nine? I think it
was eight and a half for them.

Speaker 2 (53:11):
Here, I've got the and I don't know what's real
and what's not with Yahoo anymore. I mean, you want
to talk about AI generated, Holy smokes, guys, Hires some Riders.
You're uh, your Dolphins are They're not an eight and
a half. Your Dolphins are actually at seven and a
half and the Raiders are at six and a half.

Speaker 3 (53:26):
Okay, so wow, Oh I would bet the over.

Speaker 2 (53:29):
I would bet the over on the Raiders right now.
I am so drunk on them. I might have to
have a little come to Jesus. But the way that
is Tom Brady playing quarterback for you guys, No, but
Gino Smith is and he's looking sweet. I mean, if
you're going to allow yourself to get nerdy on Quinn
yours highlights and I can lose my mind on a
Geno Smith touchdown pass to Brock Bowers. But okay, I'll
take it. You're betting your job, and I'll bet a

(53:51):
Cee note on it. I'll send Johnny b Ah.

Speaker 3 (53:53):
Look at you man.

Speaker 2 (53:54):
Well, I mean, I'm just saying your job is probably
a little bit more valuable than a hundred bucks. But
you know, I've been scared some listen, brees really good.
We got a great show on Friday.

Speaker 3 (54:02):
A tough division. I don't know if you realize that
Denver Chargers Kansas City.

Speaker 2 (54:06):
Listen, I don't know where they just because Collins buddies
with Sean Payton and he's constantly telling them how good
they are. Yes, yeah, Denver sinks. And I'll tell you
Nicks Bo Nicks is gonna start feeling the heat. People
have seen him now, they're gonna Every year I gotta
have Denver cram down my throat of their breath. And
I made the playoffs. Oh yeah, they got great. But

(54:29):
they know it. They know it, they saw it early
last year. I mean, the Chargers are the Chargers. So
it's just gonna be a matter of time. I'm telling
you right now, I think Raiders over six and a
half Caroline over six and a half are two just
money bets, right.

Speaker 3 (54:43):
So you think Denver's a big fake. Then they're a
bunch of phonies. They're big phony. There's a phony.

Speaker 2 (54:49):
They had ten big last season last year, but you
know what, this last year's success guarantee this year's success.

Speaker 3 (54:57):
No, but you think they did improve? Come on that now?
The quarterbacks got another year under his belt, right.

Speaker 2 (55:04):
Another year for people to find out more of his vulnerabilities,
where he's weak, where he can be taken advantage of.
I love my guy Marvin Mims, though this pains me
to say. And Marvin Mims and of course what I
think is one of the most underappreciated backers in all
of the NFL. And Nick Benito. They got Dre Greenlaw
this year to you know, maybe they might actually be

(55:25):
pretty good. They brought in JK. Dobbins as well, and
I love, love, love love their second round picking R. J. Harvey,
so I don't have to think about that one. I'm
allowed to change my mind in the next few weeks.
But actually I might like him way too much. They
did a great job in the draft this year. Courtland Sutton,
you know, had his I think we're still waiting for
that full breakout. But right, I mean, Marvin Mims had

(55:46):
his breakout season last year. Yeah, unfortunately, he might be
pretty good. But I'm still sticking behind the the Raiders
being over six and a half and more wins than
the Dolphins.

Speaker 3 (55:55):
I already told you I don't think it's good. I'm
not it's gonna be an exciting year. You know. I
already think that six of the eight divisions.

Speaker 2 (56:01):
But that's how it is every year.

Speaker 3 (56:02):
No, it's not like that every year.

Speaker 2 (56:04):
You said the same thing last year before that. I
was right.

Speaker 3 (56:08):
I was right the year before that.

Speaker 2 (56:09):
All favorites usually when their division. But to make the
season boring or not fun, well.

Speaker 3 (56:13):
I didn't mean boring, you know, I just kind of
threw that in there.

Speaker 2 (56:17):
All right. Well, listen, when we come back to the
Fox Sports radio studios, we do have a lot of
NFL on the dock at tonight, but Bill Belichick's making
some headlines. The college football world has kind of been
turned on its ear a bit with all these different
rules that we have right now, and Arnie, somehow, someway,
we always find a way to talk a little bit
about the Lakers, and there might be a little bit

(56:39):
of a controversial situation brewing in the addition of Marcus smart.
We'll explain next with Arnie and Plank right here on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 7 (56:47):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio

And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber list lame in me.

Speaker 8 (57:22):
Well you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 9 (57:26):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna

a little harder. It's gonna be the best after show

Speaker 4 (58:32):
Are you fatigued at all from your early show today?

Speaker 2 (58:36):
Are you good?

Speaker 3 (58:37):
I'm usually you know, I kind of get up about
six o'clock, so I just had to get up a
little bit earlier. Did the three hours what Andy had
a basketball game this morning. At eleven o'clock. We won.
My teammate yelled at.

Speaker 2 (58:49):
Me, why is that?

Speaker 4 (58:50):
Oh what am I saying? I absolutely know why he
would yell at you.

Speaker 3 (58:54):
But we were down the six players for the game,
so I had to get a lot of playing time.
And he's one of those guys. He played D won basketball,
so he thinks he's really good even though he was
he was a benchwarmer. He still played D one basketball
though he was a bench warmer. He didn't even have
a scholarship. He just made the team, but he rode
the bench. I mean he carried us to victory. He

(59:14):
was pretty good in our league. He's better than the
guys that we have. But we were by like twelve
or fourteen with about seven minutes left and I say, hey, hey,
foul them. That way they don't get any easy buckets
because the clock runs while they're shooting free throws. He goes,
that's the dumbest thing, man, We're playing great defense, don't foul.
I'm like, yeah, foul, like it kills a minute of

(59:36):
the time. What's wrong with you? And we were going
back and forth on that, So call me.

Speaker 2 (59:41):
I'll tell you what I I miss the days of
you posting your practice are your rec League games.

Speaker 4 (59:49):
I don't know why you stopped doing it. He gave
me countless hours.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
Of any.

Speaker 3 (59:54):
Post. Yeah, I have to do that. Maybe I'll do
it for this weekend's game. I got one on Wednesday
and one on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
Okay, so that's going to be your pregame to Thursday
night in the Hall of Fame game.

Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
Oh yeah, Wednesday night.

Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
Yeah, that's eight o'clock or seven o'clock. So I have
to go up against that. I have to check it out. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
So I want to hit this here because I don't
know necessarily how real of a story it is. But
the North Carolina to the SEC, I know it definitely
caught your eye.

Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
Didn't it It did?

Speaker 10 (01:00:22):
I did.

Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
I didn't know that the SEC was looking into maybe
adding a couple of teams, and if they are, I
wouldn't understand why North Carolina would be one of the teams.

Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
Well. This came from Scott Hamilton from The Post and Courier,
who said this week on the Paul fine Bomb Show,
Paul fine Bomb's kind of like God in SEC country.
Imagine if like Jesus.

Speaker 5 (01:00:45):
Did a radio show what happens doesn't come true when
he brings it up a go ahead?

Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
Half of it, ninety percent of it, Arnie, what are
you talking about? That's the fun of it. But according
to Scott Hamilton, not the ice skater, this, this is
a beat rider for the Post and Courier.

Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
He told Paul that you.

Speaker 2 (01:01:03):
And c may have a handshake agreement in place with
the SEC to make a move to the conference in
the future if the opportunity presents itself, and he added
that apparently Virginia has a similar understanding in place with
the Big Ten for a prospective move. North Carolina would
appear to be the school most interested in making a

(01:01:26):
move out of the ACC, with Clemson and Florida State
the other schools most likely to plan an exit in
the next few years. Here was the quote, I'd pulled
the audio, but it's really boring. I think it's UNC
number one. Then I think it's Florida State, Clemson, Clemson,
Florida State number two.

Speaker 3 (01:01:42):
After that, I mean it's very possible. I don't know
who i'd want more. I'd probably want Florida State, but
that's for the SEC to decide. I still don't understand
why they don't want like an Arizona Arizona State which fits.
Just don't be sarcastic to be I mean, first of all,
we're a lot better than Florida State, my friend, I mean,
my goodness, why would you want to bring them in?

(01:02:04):
For crying out loud and North Carolina.

Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
I don't know that they're bringing in Florida State.

Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
What'd you say?

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
I don't know that they're bringing in Florida State, right,
but I still stand by Florida State. If the SEC
wanted Florida State and Clemson, Florida State and Clemson would
have already been in the SEC.

Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
Is the SEC looking for two teams or is that
just no, No.

Speaker 4 (01:02:24):
They're not. There's no desire right now for the SEC.

Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
That they don't want to split that money, especially.

Speaker 2 (01:02:29):
With anybody they They just added two more teams. They
added Oklahoma and Texas. Thanks going pretty well for both
of them, and financially it's going great for everyone. And
I don't think anyone at ESPN is saying, hey, Greg Sankey,
why don't you go out a two more teams.

Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
This is the only reason I think they asked me
if they if they do add two teams. It has
to do with the whole college football going to super conferences,
you know what I mean, And there's only going to
be like six conferences or something, and you've have that
add teams. I mean, that's what really four conferences, you
know what I mean? Unless there's something we don't know
going on behind the scenes where everybody has to earn

(01:03:07):
scrambling for teams. There's no way that the SEC is
going to add anybody right now.

Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
They're not.

Speaker 4 (01:03:12):
And I don't know how this ends up becoming a
big story. I get it.

Speaker 2 (01:03:17):
You know, North Carolina has been rumored as an SEC
target for years. And before you say, well, why when
they go after Miami and why, you got to remember
they already have Florida in Florida, and I don't know
if Florida is pushing to try to get Florida State
or Miami in there. And they've been part of the
SEC from day one, and that matters and North Carolina.

(01:03:38):
There's not another school in the SEC in North Carolina.
And to a certain extent, it keeps that regionality. Southeastern
Conference might be the most regionally sound conference in all
of college sports. The Big twelves footprint makes no sense whatsoever.
The Big Tens makes no sense whatsoever, But regionally, the
SEC kind of makes a little sense.

Speaker 3 (01:03:58):
Well that's why I said Arizona. Arizona State would fit
in geographically to fit into the SEC.

Speaker 2 (01:04:06):
Did you go to geography class to see the map?
And I would fit in there.

Speaker 3 (01:04:10):
Because Arizona is so far from Texas?

Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
Right?

Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
Is that what you're gonna tell me, well.

Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
Austin Texas, Yeah, absolutely it is. College. You think Arizona
would fit geographically in the Southeastern Conference.

Speaker 3 (01:04:25):
More so than North Carolina?

Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
No, not at all. No, No, but I get what
you're trying to do here. You're already trying to bail
from the Big twelve because you can't stand it. You're
already tired of big time games against I can't know
if it's because I love Kansas State, but Kansas State
and Kansas Right really move with the needle for a while.

Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
You don't think, don't move the needle, man, I need
big time teams.

Speaker 2 (01:04:47):
You know what I mean. You're not sorry, You're not
in that conversation right now, Bless your heart. So hey,
at least you're in the Big twelve, right, Yeah? You
got Brett you or Mark telling you how great everything is.
So you got that going for everybody has.

Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
Predicted us to finish like in last place this year.
I'm disgusted. I'm Mike, How could I be so wrong
if I think they're gonna win the conference this year?

Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
Because you're a homer Wow, because you don't know anything
about any other team in the Big twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:05:13):
And that's fine, Texas tech obvious. We know that they're
they have good d right, we know.

Speaker 2 (01:05:18):
That, well, we think, but everyone's picking them fifth in
the conference. And you had that crazy person on that
was saying they're going to be a part of the
four team playoff.

Speaker 3 (01:05:26):
Yeah, that's what I was talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
All right, listen, I can I tell you something, guys.
I know that you get a lot of people that
come on here and the few hot takes and they'll
see a story like this, like, oh my gosh, why
would they let me tell you why they would do this?

Speaker 4 (01:05:40):
Because they're not this isn't this isn't nothing, Burger. I'm glad.

Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
Aren't he put it in Roman numeral number nine? I'm sorry,
I'm sorry Roman numeral number eight? Yeah, because no, oh
is it nine? I thought I thought the SEC story
was number eight and nine.

Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
But in my opinion and from my thorough research and
investigation on this, there couldn't be more of a nothing
to this now. Greg Sankei, commissioner of the SEC, is
never going to come out and validate a rumor or
shoot it down. He's very smart about keeping things open.
But for now, for this time in which we live,

(01:06:16):
Arnie Spanier, this is a great nothing for.

Speaker 3 (01:06:18):
Yeah, but when you say it's nothing, you make it
sound like it's an impossibility. Yet we'll company teams have traded.
You know how many colleges have traded conferences over the
last two to three years. It's been absolutely crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
Right, And we're set for a while now when the
rules they think you would think, I'm telling you we're
set for a while now. The smaller conferences will be
moving like crazy. And they American teams ye yeah, and
the Pac twelve and the Mountain West and all that Amurrican, right,
But the SEC and the Big ten aren't adding schools,
and the ACC's eventual implosion in like five or six

(01:06:53):
years unless they can win a title in football, probably
isn't going to do anything to move the needle. Outside
of maybe North Carolina in Virginia and that's it again.
If Clipson in Florida State have basically no offense to
Clipson in Florida State. Fans love you, guys, but you
know how it was just two years ago. You were
like the drunken dude or girl at the end of

(01:07:14):
the bar at two am. You're just throwing yourself at
everybody man, and nobody wanted you. I don't know why.
I love your schools, I love your athletic programs, but
the Big.

Speaker 4 (01:07:22):
Ten didn't want you. The SEC didn't want you already.

Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
I don't know why.

Speaker 4 (01:07:26):
I don't know why, but they didn't want them.

Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
And I don't think that magically with less money to split, right,
you're not gonna split up more money.

Speaker 3 (01:07:33):
You know why? You just don't want to say it.
I guess is what you're doing?

Speaker 4 (01:07:35):
What's what's that? And then what's the little what you
tell me?

Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
I obviously it's because they don't live up to expectations?
Is that what it is? Is it the academics?

Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
It might be It might just be they don't want
another school in South Carolina or Florida. You already have
South Carolina, you already have the Florida Gators. You know,
let's expand our footprint at least a little bit more.
And it had always been a big deal at least.
That's what I've learned in now being an SEC homer
for two years now, that they like the tent pole

(01:08:06):
institutions instincts, and they've got them all in the South. Sorry,
they don't have Arizona in the Southwest or whatever you
want to call yourself. But yeah, it's just they've got
them all, So why water that down? That's why. That's
the why I think. And I don't know that Florida
would support it. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:08:23):
And Florida's got a lot of people.

Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
On their side. They're a major part of the SEC.
I don't know if South Carolina would be pushing to
get Clemson in the same conference as them.

Speaker 4 (01:08:32):
It's just it's it's a different world over here, man.

Speaker 3 (01:08:35):
You wouldn't vote right. They want to get one vote
on that though.

Speaker 2 (01:08:38):
They only get one vote, but they've got people that
support him around them, and they're gonna listen to what
the commissioner tells them to do. You say, they've only
got one vote. Have you heard any other school in
the SEC come out and say, man, we've got to
go get Florida State and Clemson.

Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
No, well, as we're company you live from the Fox
Sports radio studios. Sorry, got a little carried away there.
Let's bring in our man, Steve Sager to get us
caught up everything going on in the world of sports.

Speaker 4 (01:09:01):
What's going on, Steve?

Speaker 10 (01:09:02):
Good Wildcats talk there, Thank you. Arizona Wildcat's going to
be opening about a month from now for their college
football season late August. They're going to be hosting Hawaii
Wiers game.

Speaker 3 (01:09:12):
And yeah, I told Pike I saw somebody, did you know,
one of those simulcasts and had the Arizona losing that game.

Speaker 10 (01:09:20):
So, oh, you're talking about the computer predicting the game. Yeah,
I'm sure that's a different word than simulcast.

Speaker 2 (01:09:27):
Different projections that they did on these computer the simulations
that they did on mad Are not EA college sports.

Speaker 10 (01:09:37):
Oh, by the way, Fox TV mid September will have
a Friday night Kansas State at Arizona game. There you go,
Arnie and Fox will finish their season with the Arizona
at Arizona State game on the Friday of Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (01:09:50):
Let's go and I.

Speaker 10 (01:09:52):
Looked ahead Arizona has apparently signed to play at Alabama
in twenty thirty two.

Speaker 3 (01:09:58):
I wish they'd move that game up, man, let's.

Speaker 10 (01:10:00):
Go, you're running out of time. Let's by the way,
after this year, they're gonna home on home with Washington State,
which by the way, by then will not be in
the PAC two because starting after this coming school year,
Washington State and Oregon State are gonna be joined in
the PAC twelve by Boise State, San Diego State, Utah State,

(01:10:22):
Colorado State are going into the new PAC twelve, and
twenty twenty six Fresno State, Texas State was added. They
are getting larger after this coming.

Speaker 3 (01:10:31):
By the way, that Arizona Kansas State game, I don't
think is a conference game this year.

Speaker 4 (01:10:36):
Are they doing that again?

Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
Yeah, they're doing that again, and I don't think that
one's gonna count this year.

Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
Oh my gosh, yeah, wow, that's so goofy. They did
that in the ACC a couple times. They did it
in the Big twelve. Last Who was it last year
that you played? It wasn't a conference game, Yeah, yeah
it was.

Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
No, it wasn't Utah. It was somebody. I forget who
it was, but we we did that last year. Also,
I think the same thing happened this.

Speaker 10 (01:10:58):
So it had already been scheduled, in other words.

Speaker 3 (01:11:01):
And they went back out right exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
Well.

Speaker 10 (01:11:03):
The New York Mets are the first place team in
the NL East, game and a half over the Phillies. Now,
the Mets won the Sunday night ball game at San
Francisco five to three, as the Giants left bases loaded
in the ninth, Juan Soto of New York and hit
the go ahead solo homer in the seventh. So seven
straight wins for the Mets, the record up to sixty
two and forty four, and the Yankees beat Philadelphia four

(01:11:25):
to three. Carlos Rodin over Zach Wheeler, who had been
nine to three this year, saved to the Yankees. Devin Williams,
Aaron Judge on Saturday was placed on the injured list
with a strained elbow, and whenever he comes back, he's
just going to be a DH initially until they can
test and give clearance to the throwing arm. Angels over
Seattle today four to one, ken Lee Jansen got the save.

(01:11:46):
He's one of the closers on the list by baseball
reporters that could be dealt this week. Baseball's trade deadline
is Thursday. Angels had only four hits, but they won
the game four to one, and the one for the
Mariners was Cal Rawley's home run, his forty first of
the year. He has eighty six RBIs. Pittsburgh's Paul Skeens

(01:12:06):
might win the Cy Young Award this year, six nothing
the final over Arizona Skens with nine strikeouts in his
six innings. His ERA is one point eight three. Of course,
playing for the Pirates, his record is six and eight
at the moment, That still might win the Cell Young.
Losing pitcher for the Diamondback Zach Gallon seven and twelve again,

(01:12:27):
might be offered in trade this coming week. His ERA
this year is over five and a half. Milwaukee and
the Cubs each one. They're still tied for first in
the NL Central. Monday, it's the Cubs playing at Milwaukee.
The Dodger lead down to four games over the Padres.
La lost at Boston again four to three. Padres won
nine to two at Saint Louis. Detroit's been genuinely wretched

(01:12:49):
for two weeks, maybe three weeks now, but they did
get a win today, ten to four. Over Toronto Tigers
had lost six straight. Jack Flaherty the winning pitcher with
six scoreless innings, seven strikes. He's up to six and
ten back with the Tigers this year. Max Scherzer took
the loss for Toronto. Seven innings, three runs, allowed, eleven strikeouts.

(01:13:09):
It did get me wondering if this is the last
year for Max Scherzer, Clayton Kersha, Justin Verlander. It's interesting
Texas won at six straight game eight?

Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
Are you getting rid of pitching with all your pitchings
hurt to begin with?

Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
Though?

Speaker 10 (01:13:22):
Geez, which pitching?

Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
Dodger pitching?

Speaker 10 (01:13:25):
Oh, they're getting guys back. Blake Snell probably his last
triple a Uh, yes, he pitched almost five innings this weekend.
Blake Tryingam was officially activated today. Reliever Dustin May just
can't stop giving up key runs and losing, so he
might be out of the rotation. But while they're getting
quote the real pitchers back and show Heyo Tani. Remember

(01:13:49):
he's throwing a little you know, up to four innings
next in his starts. Because the problem is with Otani
you can't send him to the miners like Blake Snell
and have those rehab addings anyway, Texts beat Atlanta eight one,
the Atlanta Braves with just a season to forget. This
is five straight losses and their offense went four for
thirty today with eleven strikeouts. Bubba Wallace the NASCAR winner

(01:14:11):
at Indy Alex Palot won the IndyCar Race in Northern California.
And in women's soccer, England took the Eurofinal on Fox
on penalty kicks against Spain. Spain out shot him twenty
two to eight and had sixty five percent of the possession.
But you know how it is when it goes to
penalty kicks at the end, you might win, you might not.
Spain the defending World Cup champ at England now has

(01:14:32):
won the last two Euro tournaments. Amazing. They even got
to the final because England won its semi in overtime,
had tied that game against Italy in the ninety six
minute and scored again with a minute left in ot
And in the quarterfinal England scored two late goals and
then won on penalty kicks. But they are crowned. Two
NFL notes contract extensions for the Cowboys tight end Jake

(01:14:55):
Ferguson and the Chargers Pro Bowl tackle Rushawn Slater back
to you.

Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
Steve h one click.

Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
What would happen if the Dodgers did say Otani to
get a start in Triple A, which is Oklahoma City.
Would you guys just go crazy down there for that?
Would it just be madness to see this guy pitch
or what?

Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
Sure? But I mean Kershaw's pitched here. There's been a
I mean, the craziest thing I remember was when Yasiel
Pleague came down here. That was insane.

Speaker 3 (01:15:26):
I would think O Todi coming down there. People would be.

Speaker 5 (01:15:29):
Like, Nie, Yeah, no, no, not really, I just want
to title in basketball, and I'd be there in a heartbeat.

Speaker 2 (01:15:40):
Yeah. Blake Snell of course, looking good, looking good. Oh,
I'm shuld be exciting. Get Blake Snell out there, look out.
So he's done with his rehab assignment and should return
for the Dodgers and maybe even start against the race
one tweet I wanted to get to. Yeah, don't let
him troll you, mister nobody. Mister Nobody, writes Arnie. Arizona
is better than Florida's state three national titles, several title

(01:16:02):
game appearances, the most Super regionals in baseball, nineteen acc titles,
in softball with one national title, Arizona can beat that.
I'm the resident FSU fans, so you know I can't
let that go.

Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
Well, wait a bit, Wait a bit. Arizona has more
than one national title in softball, and I think we
could put up better numbers than that. Baseball wise, were
more of a power than Florida State. Now there's no
doubt about that.

Speaker 2 (01:16:29):
Or can you come with numbers? I mean, mister, nobody
has numbers here. You don't You mean you don't have
these memorized.

Speaker 3 (01:16:35):
No, I don't have that memorized. And basketball, are you
gonna tell me it's even close between Arizona basketball and
Florida State? I mean, that's laugh football.

Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
You know what matters? He can go football? How many
national titles do you guys have?

Speaker 3 (01:16:51):
I have to think about that?

Speaker 4 (01:16:52):
Can I get back back? Keep taking all right?

Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
Think it break?

Speaker 4 (01:16:55):
Come back with the segment next right here on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:16:58):
Nah, it is that time where we sit back and
listen to the adulcet tones of Steve de Seger. Time
for the segment. Well we got tonight, Steve.

Speaker 10 (01:17:08):
Well, how much money do you get by owning an
NFL team? I mean from the lead question annually. The
correct answer is you really would never ever know, because
they would never ever make their books public. Except there's
one NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
Team, Packers.

Speaker 10 (01:17:25):
The Packers that are publicly.

Speaker 3 (01:17:27):
Owned, it was like three hundred MILLIONAIS day.

Speaker 10 (01:17:29):
They have to They have to, not that they want to,
they have to to their shareholders say what the actual
monies are, and therefore we know the general monies of
all the other teams as well. Here's the deal. Go
back almost twenty years. The NFL's revenue sharing was about
one hundred and thirty million dollars per team. It is

(01:17:49):
now over four hundred million dollars per team. Let's put
this in context. The salary cap is under two hundred
and eighty million dollars per team. So by getting the
nation your piece of the national revenue share, which is
mostly TV money, you pay for every player before you
even sell one ticket. Because the revenue sharing portion for

(01:18:14):
the Packers for their physical year from the NFL was
four hundred and thirty two million dollars.

Speaker 4 (01:18:22):
Oh my gosh, that's so wild.

Speaker 10 (01:18:24):
They also a little bit bigger revenue because remember with
a seventeen game schedule, sometimes you have eight home games.
Sometimes you have nine. They happened to have a ninth
home game in this past physical year, so it was
a little more revenue. So they went from sixty million
dollars pure profit up to over eighty million dollars profit

(01:18:44):
in the twelve months of the fiscal year. At Cream Bay, yikes,
I was looking at a list of free agents guys
still unsigned as camps have all opened. Obviously, X Raider
defensive lineman Christian Wilkins is on the list. Ex Seattle
tight end Noah fen Amari Cooper's name was on the list,
to Sante Samuel Junior also unsigned, Keenan Allen, Eric Hendricks,

(01:19:07):
and others. We've got the Hall of Fame Game coming
up with Chargers Lions on Thursday, and the rest of
the league starts its exhibition schedule.

Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
A week later.

Speaker 10 (01:19:15):
I did look up the TV ratings from a year
ago when the Hall of Fame Game was Bears Texans.
I did not remember this. The game was halted in
the third quarter due to weather. Yeah did not resume.
It got five million viewers last year. Hall of Fame
game got six million viewers the year before. Compare that
to over seven million viewers this month for Baseball's All

(01:19:37):
Star Game on Fox. But we will have just.

Speaker 3 (01:19:43):
Hold on.

Speaker 10 (01:19:43):
We'll be getting to real football in September. I know
we're excited because people are wearing uniforms that we're familiar with.
It's not the actual players in the uniforms, so we're
kind of getting NFL football, kind of not. We will
be getting a lot of international games they wanted. I
believe eight. I see seven on the list for the
coming season, but that includes first week of September Chargers

(01:20:05):
Chiefs in Brazil Wow streaming only. The rest of the
international games will be NFL Network nine to thirty am
Eastern games. That six different international NFL Network games, including
the Vikings playing back to back weekends overseas and just
staying there in between. Late September early October. There's a

(01:20:28):
Vikings game in Ireland against the Steelers and the very
next weekend a Vikings game in London against the Cleveland Browns.
Bubba Wallace was the NASCAR winner at Indye today. He
had not won in one hundred straight races dating back
about three years. There were a couple of overtime restarts.
Last year's Brickyard four hundred winner, Kyle Larson was the

(01:20:49):
runner up. Denny Hamlin started last in a backup but
finished third today and he co owns the Wallace car
for twenty three to eleven Racing. Co owns it with
Michael Jordan, who is a champion in NASCAR today. So
Wallace Clinch is a playoff spot. Four events left until
the full sixteen driver field is set for the ten
race NASCAR postseason. William Byron trails Chase Elliott by four

(01:21:13):
points in the chase for the regular season championship there
at Iowa next weekend, and they had this inaugural in
season Challenge tournament. Okay, if you're a driver, you got money.

Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
Great.

Speaker 10 (01:21:24):
Ty Gibbs gets a million dollar prize in the final
round of it today because he finished twenty first at
Indy and he was seven spots ahead of Ty Dillons.
So the two guys who were going for the big
cash neither finished in the top twenty. Oh that's wild,
all right, you had something sure fine. IndyCar race was
on the road course in Moterey, Northern California. Alex Polo

(01:21:45):
eighth victory of the year, eight out of the fourteen
races he has won. The record is ten victories in
a season Today, Polo led eighty four of the ninety
five laps. There were only two lead changes. He's won
there three times in the last four seas for the
Indiecar season, just three races left. The next events is
in two weeks in Portland, Oregon on Fox TV again

(01:22:08):
on Fox TV today, women soccer England won the Eurofinal.
NBA note, Chicago Bulls gave coach Billy Donovan an extension.

Speaker 2 (01:22:15):
I was kind of surprise by that, thanks Steve. Yeah there, Yeah,
they left Oklahoma City didn't want to go through a rebuild.

Speaker 4 (01:22:22):
How'd that work out for him?

Speaker 2 (01:22:24):
Though? I don't know if Oklahoma City wins a title
with Billy Donovan over Mark Dagnaul. All right, when we
come back, Arnie so excited to pick the Hall of
Fame game. Preseason is the preseason, right, so we got
a lot of NFL stuff coming up, plus a very
interesting debate to be had over Arnie's decisions on his
cable bill. That's next.

Speaker 1 (01:22:46):
Listen Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:22:48):
Radio Power Hour, Power hour, six hour of radio for
Arnie Today. Six.

Speaker 4 (01:22:56):
Well, I guess technically we've rolled into a tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
Yeah, five hours in one, five.

Speaker 2 (01:23:02):
Hours in one, So you're on a. You're on your
Monday now, Happy Monday, stinking genius. Thank you. We talked
to little Hall of Fame, though, Jason B. Diamond brings
up a great point to kick off Hour three, Eatro
saying in his in his speech that he didn't know
the Miami Marlins were a team until twenty sixteen.

Speaker 4 (01:23:20):
I thought it was hilarious. That was hilarious.

Speaker 2 (01:23:23):
He was great today, including the petty shot at the
one voter who didn't vote him in. Well done, each row,
well done worthy and Dave Parker's kid, Wow, dead ringer.
I was watching it.

Speaker 3 (01:23:33):
Yeah, do we know why the one voter didn't put
him in?

Speaker 4 (01:23:35):
Or was it just no clue? No clue?

Speaker 2 (01:23:39):
If who isn't Mariano Rivera the only unanimous pick we've had.
And there always somebody that's like, I don't know, didn't
do enough for me. There is always some old timer,
some baseball guy be like, hey, wasn't as good as
old crazy Legs McDaniels.

Speaker 3 (01:23:53):
You know, a Hall of Famer, just not a first
ballot Hall of Famer.

Speaker 2 (01:23:57):
I can't do that. That's that was a Derek Jeter
thing too, But yeah, it was ridiculous at least in
my book, talked to a lot of football and a
lot of college football. Last hour, I told you, do
not buy into any of this realignment talk with the
SEC for now.

Speaker 4 (01:24:10):
All this North Carolina stuff is bunk for now.

Speaker 2 (01:24:13):
Now. Could things change in four or five years, you bet,
But as long as the SEC has this contract with ESPN,
nothing is changing. And that's the mottom unless someone's going
to come in and pay him three hundred million dollars
and not take any revenue, and that's just not reality.
Not everyone has boosters like SMU and apparently Memphis tried
to do that in the Big twelve.

Speaker 4 (01:24:34):
Told him no, So it's just not reality right now.

Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
And then we talked a little bit about the NFL
preseason game on Thursday and what we're looking for. But
Arnie does kind of open up a few questions just
based on like the big Camp storylines right now, and
I think.

Speaker 4 (01:24:49):
Well, let me make sure I get my Roman numerals
right here a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:24:52):
I think that this might fit in a little bit
with your Roman numeral sixteen. Oh wow, Because as far
as I've been able to figure out with Kim Warden,
now the dude in Tennessee, right right, we and and
you know I'm reaching here a little bit, but do
we really only have one true and Russell Wilson being
named the starter with the Giants? Do we really only

(01:25:14):
have one true starting quarterback battle right now with the Browns?
Because Indy, we thought maybe Richardson or Daniel Jones could
be the guy right the Saints.

Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
But I don't know, I.

Speaker 2 (01:25:28):
Don't know if you want to talk about it right now,
ye Bree being a Saints san but it kind of
sounds like they're trying to do everything they can to
give that forty year old that you drafted in the
second round the starting job, right that kind of work
getting out of Saints camp? Or is it or is
it truly a battle like the Browns is right now?

Speaker 3 (01:25:45):
The Browns are truly a battle. That's the one I'm moving.
That's old too. Yeah, that's because Picking went down with
the injury today.

Speaker 4 (01:25:54):
He's so that means there's down to six quarterbacks fighting
for the child.

Speaker 3 (01:25:57):
Well, that means Sudor Sanders maybe gets to take steps
with the first team. Everybody wants to see what he's
going to be able to do. I'm concerned if he's
the only quarterback that wasn't taking snaps with the first team.
Where does he end up? Where does he go play
in the Canadian Football League? Does he get caught and
just wait for somebody else to pick him up? Do

(01:26:17):
you hold on to him as you know, a practice player.
I don't know what's gonna happen to the guy.

Speaker 2 (01:26:23):
What part of him not getting drafted until the fifth
round led you to think that what happened on thirty
two teams passing on him multiple times, including the team
that he's playing on, even drafting a quarterback before him,
has you surprised by him not getting first team reps
right now? No?

Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
But I thought he was going to make the team,
and I thought he would at least practice, you know,
with the first team. If they're going to use three quarterbacks,
I figure he was going to be one of them.
I thought he was going to make the team. Now
the way it looks, I'm not so sure. I can't
wait for that first preseason game just to see what
he's going to do. If he gets some play at time,
I'm sure he will. Well, yeah, I can't wait to

(01:27:00):
see what he's gonna do.

Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
Though. Hey call me crazy, Arnie, but I think that
there's a really good chance at all four of those
guys can make the team. Right now, Now, let's see
how severe this Kenny Pickett injury truly is. At least
as it stands right now, it doesn't look like it's
that bad right right, at least.

Speaker 4 (01:27:16):
From what you sent me in that I read.

Speaker 2 (01:27:18):
So if Picket's injury isn't that bad, then you would
assume that he still got a chance to win the job.
They seem to love Flacco in Cleveland right now, and
they think they've got a pretty good roster. I mean,
you get you can have three quarterbacks somewhat active on
game day, right It wouldn't surprise me if.

Speaker 4 (01:27:34):
They try to keep all four.

Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
And if it is sneaking him onto the practice squad
when you cut him, because you got to cut a
guy before you can put him on your practice squad, Well,
I mean, would you play him a lot of.

Speaker 13 (01:27:45):
The preseason and potentially expose him to other people? I
have to, I have to, I mean that's what the
preseason's for, is it. You certainly don't want to do
like first round picks, but somebody like Shdor Sanders, you.

Speaker 2 (01:27:57):
Got to see what he's gotten, right, But he might
go out there. Yeah, sorry, maybe I didn't make my
I'd probably make my point. Well I didn't make it. Well,
I don't think. My thought is if you know you're
going to cut him, but yeah, you want to keep
him on your practice.

Speaker 3 (01:28:09):
Squad, right, you don't want ever to see how great
he is.

Speaker 4 (01:28:11):
Ding ding ding, thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:28:12):
And I mean, obviously he's not that great if he's
gonna get cut, But you got to play him in
the preseason, right, They're not just gonna play Dylan Gabriel
and give him all the reps.

Speaker 4 (01:28:20):
Chador is going to get reps during the preseason.

Speaker 3 (01:28:22):
I would think so. And they also want to see
what they have there. And I don't know how it's
going to play out. I mean, really, it looks like
it's going to be flat go Picket and Gabriel and Shadure.
Sanders is going to be the odd man out, and
I don't know what is going to happen to him.
Like I said, I know Toronto has his rights in
the Canadian Football League, but right, I wouldn't think that
he'd want to go ahead and play up there, though,

(01:28:42):
wouldn't be too bad for him to get some reps
up there.

Speaker 2 (01:28:45):
I I've always been intrigued by those who dump all
over the Canadian Football League because I mean, you've seen
some guys that have taken that route and it's ended up.

Speaker 3 (01:28:57):
Okay for him, who's now Adams or was he the
Oregon quarterback?

Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
Yeah, he's been there for like twenty years though I
think he's like fifty years old now.

Speaker 4 (01:29:05):
But I'm being facetious. Please don't quote me on that.

Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
But if you think about it's I mean the CFL
quarterbacks that have started in the NFL, there's there's not
a ton, right, but you know, and Warren Moon and
in Doug Flutie. I think what Jeff Garcia is in
that mix. I get again, three enough, three is enough
to kind of make you. I know, you could go
back away as it wasn't Joe. Thisman in the Canadian
Football League for a while. But I guess my point

(01:29:31):
is there is a path there, so, I mean, you
can make decent money playing in the Canadian Football League.
I don't I don't know, Arnie. It's gonna be fascinating
to see. I think he's the biggest story of the preseason.
I think he's the I think Shanor Sanders because of
the way that we've covered this. Do you you watch
the draft like I do, right, you sit around even

(01:29:51):
through the late rounds. Do you ever remember them going
to the podium for fourth and fifth round picks? They
never do. They usually have mel kiper Junior fighting with somebody,
or they're interviewing the assistant to the general manager right,
or they're doing some goofy pick on an aircraft carrier.

Speaker 4 (01:30:08):
But for the most part, you're not going to the podium.

Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
And they did it with just about every single pick
in the fourth and fifth round until he got drafted.

Speaker 4 (01:30:15):
We got video shoots of him working out.

Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
I'm getting sucked in here because I think it's one
of the biggest storylines of the preseason right now and
gives us maybe a little something to stick around for
in these preseason games, beyond those degenerates like you that
are gambling on.

Speaker 3 (01:30:31):
These I want to see if anybody's going, like you mentioned,
pick him up, maybe if there's an injury. But I
can't see anybody's saying, well, we got to get rid
of our quarterback now because Sada Sandsers is out there.

Speaker 4 (01:30:43):
Sure, yeah, right, that ain't happening.

Speaker 3 (01:30:44):
Yeah, And that's not going to happen. But if there's
an injury out there, it could make all the difference
in the world. Like I said, I can't wait for
that first rounds preseason game. I expect him to get
at least a quarter of playing time and everybody wants
to see what.

Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
He could do.

Speaker 3 (01:30:58):
And then everybody's gonna look at what he did and
then put it under a magnifying one right and say, oh,
he's a Boster. He's gonna be this and it's gonna
be great to see him play. Though it's gonna be awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
You know what's interesting is you kind of started to
see that kind of look at quarterback depth charts perk
up a little bit this week with the Justin Fields
news where apparently his leg fell off, only to magically
be attached.

Speaker 3 (01:31:24):
But he was fine the next day, wasn't he?

Speaker 1 (01:31:26):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:31:26):
I know right. My point is the way people reacted
to it, it was I mean, it was like the
most somber thing you could ever see. It's like breaking
news out of Jets camp. They've carted off Justin Fields
and then by that afternoon he's back and he's good
to go. But you know, you start looking around the
league Let's say something happens to Gosh. I hate to

(01:31:48):
project these kind of things. I'm not trying to be
that guy. But hypothetically, let's say cam Ward get stinged up, right,
You've already lost your backup quarterback. They got Brandon Allen
and Tim Boyle on your roster right now. So maybe
there's a place, aren'y if things don't go well for Cleveland,
he could end up, you know, maybe even a place
like I don't know, Baltimore. You know, Baltimore went out

(01:32:13):
this year, they lose Lamar. Let's say they lose Lamar Jackson.
You know, they've got Cooper Rush as their backup now
and then a sixth round pick from last year in
Devin Leary. Maybe that's a place where he could end
up as a depth piece right now. And you know
what's interesting to me in all of this, Troy, what
does Detroit have. Detroit's depth chart right now looks like

(01:32:33):
this Jared Goff, Hinded Hooker, and Kyle Allen.

Speaker 4 (01:32:37):
So I think Detroit would be fine.

Speaker 2 (01:32:39):
Hooker has been on that like two year retort program
where he's finally back to being healthy. I can't you know,
he might get to start on Thursday night, there might
have a reason to watch on them.

Speaker 3 (01:32:47):
They only have two quarterbacks going. I think the Chargers
will have three quarterbacks going, but we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (01:32:53):
Chargers depth chart behind Justin Herbert has Taylor Heineke, Trey Lance,
and then you've got Ujungalila, who I forgot was still
in the league.

Speaker 4 (01:33:04):
I thought he might be up in Canada right now.

Speaker 2 (01:33:06):
But it's interesting because you start looking around because I'm
like you, you know, I all right, let's say things
don't work for Shdoor Sanders. Is it Canadian Football League?
I mean even Baltimore excuse me, Denver their third string
quarterback is Sam Allener who they picked up as an
undrapped a free agency from Indiana or Indianapolis. And hell,
maybe even the Raiders whose third string quarterback is a

(01:33:28):
sixth round pick, you know, and Cam Miller not hating
on it. I like him, but who knows, you know,
there might be a place there for him. Here's the question, though,
that I have in all of this, and I know
it's not on the Roman numeral rundown, but you know,
you start looking around the league and the lack of
true quarterback battles what's the future look like for Deshaun Watson?
Does he factor in anywhere in the future, because you

(01:33:52):
know he's gonna be getting healthy here pretty soon. He's
on a good three to four year run of being
pretty irrelevant in the league and obviously having a bunch
of baggage. Got married this offseason, you know, all the
massage jokes aside.

Speaker 4 (01:34:05):
I mean, does he have a place in the league
still or no?

Speaker 3 (01:34:08):
I think first of all, you have to look at
it financially, so can the Browns can get out from
under this contract or not get out of it? What
can minimize the damage? I guess is what I want
to say. And whatever minimizes the damage, that's what they're
probably gonna do. I don't know if he's ever gonna
play for the Browns again. To be honest with you,

(01:34:28):
is somebody else going to take him. They'll take a
shot on him if it's an emergency and there was
an injury and you're getting towards the playoffs. But I
don't think too many people are banging out of the
door to get this guy, especially with his background, especially
with the way he's looked when he has played for Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (01:34:45):
Has all that you know, all that great.

Speaker 3 (01:34:48):
So I think he's not gonna play for the Browns again,
but I'll stop short of saying he'll never play in
the NFL again.

Speaker 2 (01:34:55):
Yeah, I find it fascinating just because you know, when
when everything came out around to Shawn Watson, he immediately
became a price. I get him the farthest away that
you possibly can from any NFL team. But the Browns
were stuck, right They'd give him that game. They were
absolutely stuck. And then they finally get him back last year,

(01:35:19):
and I mean, what would my grandma say, bless us
hearty shoes. He was terrible. Yeah, they were one in
six in games that he started. You know, it's just
he threw I mean, he didn't even have five touchdowns
last year, and it makes it worse with the amount
of money they pay him. But you know, in twenty twenty,

(01:35:40):
he threw it for forty eight hundred yards. He had
thirty three touchdowns to just seven interceptions. I mean, am
I crazy to think that's still in there somewhere or
is it.

Speaker 3 (01:35:50):
Just that's hardy.

Speaker 2 (01:35:53):
It was a hell of a four year run that
he had in Houston. I mean it really truly was.
He was a he was a candidate in twenty eighteen.
He was amazing. But again, it's just sometimes I'm still
enamored with the Justin fields from the twenty twenty playoffs
against Clemson, Like, I know that guy, that guy is
in that body somewhere that can make those plays. I

(01:36:16):
probably will see Jets fan, I hope it happens for
you this year. But so you're saying, just punt all
these coms. He took a year off, hasn't been effective
from the moment he stepped on the field in Cleveland,
he's been an injury waiting Cleland.

Speaker 3 (01:36:28):
How much is it gonna cost Cleveland, by the way,
how is it going to destroy their team for years
on out because they have that big contract hanging over
their head?

Speaker 2 (01:36:38):
Well, I mean the whole total deal is two hundred
and thirty million dollars. Oh gee, this year twenty twenty
five alone is forty six million dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:36:51):
Can you do any Shenanigans where you restructure it, if
you're gonna get rid of him and stretch it out
or something like that, or no, that's not a thing.

Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
In the NFL, And for it, damn, damn, this isn't
NBA Baseball. Now, from what I understand, he's got one
more year left that can't be voided, which means next
year his base salary. His base salary next year is
forty six million dollars. Wow, and he accounts for twenty

(01:37:20):
seven percent of the cap. His cap number next year
according to over the Cap, this is twenty twenty six.

Speaker 4 (01:37:25):
Arning is eighty million dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:37:28):
This year, but this is the last year of the
guaranteed moneys.

Speaker 2 (01:37:30):
What you said, well, no, no, next year is oh
next next year he's thirty five. He's only eleven percent
of your cap this year, but in twenty twenty six,
he is twenty seven percent of your cap according to
overthcap dot com.

Speaker 3 (01:37:44):
If I own that team, I'd be sick every night
going to bed.

Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
And this was after he restructured his deal in March.
And so basically to make you our team friendly, I
mean for two years or after two years, I mean,
they had to do it to get cap compliant or
they were gonna be done. So yeah, that two year,
which voided the next three years of his deal, just.

Speaker 4 (01:38:08):
Absolutely kills Cleveland next year.

Speaker 2 (01:38:11):
Unreal. But again, when we're talking about NFL preseason storylines,
Arnie back to the original point, the Browns quarterback battle.
Well maybe for Breeth.

Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
What about the Cowboys taking the Cowboy take the Cowboys taking.

Speaker 4 (01:38:25):
Dur the Cowboys depth charted quarterback right now?

Speaker 2 (01:38:30):
This, yeah, this is theorizing that the Cowboys are that
Shador gets cut. They've got Will Greer, Joe Milton, and
then Dak. They seem to like Joe Milton. Obviously they
haven't watched Joe Milton tape, but they if they like.

Speaker 4 (01:38:44):
Him, its great.

Speaker 2 (01:38:45):
It's still wild to look at that Giants quarterback room
right now and see both Jamis and Russell Wilson there
and Tommy DeVito.

Speaker 4 (01:38:51):
With Jackson Dart unreal.

Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
All right, when we come back, let's hit your tweets,
your reaction to the show. All night long, they've been
pouring in. We'll hit the best of them next with
Arnie and Plank right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:39:13):
Instant reaction to the Browns. Talk here with Arnie and
Plank on Fox Sports Radio JV Wright. The worst thing
about the Browns and their five quarterbacks, all five of
them could be out of the league in three years,
and the Browns are nowhere near as bad as the
Saints will be, thus missing out on the arch Madness sweepstakes.

Speaker 3 (01:39:35):
It's all right about that. Also, that is so true.
They could all be out of the league in about
three years.

Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
You know what else, Buddy, calmed down. There's not going
to be an arch manning sweepstakes this year. He's not
turning pro and he's not going to be that good whenever, whenever, Texas.

Speaker 4 (01:39:51):
Not a hater.

Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
You're putting unrealistic expectations on this guy. I think he's good.
I think he's really good. You all acting like he's
the second coming Peeseus at quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (01:40:01):
Last name is Manny?

Speaker 4 (01:40:02):
Come on now, his dad's Cooper. It's not Peyton's kid.

Speaker 2 (01:40:05):
It's not Eli's kid. It's Peyton's kid.

Speaker 4 (01:40:08):
All right, Oh my gosh, it's Cooper's kid.

Speaker 2 (01:40:12):
Do you see? Drew? Drew writes nothing better than playing
Blackjack in Reno and listening to Arnie and Blank. How
about that?

Speaker 3 (01:40:20):
Can he listen at the tables or he must have
a headphone on or something I don't know. I don't think,
so they must be piping in the show today, Drew.

Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
Hit I'm just trying to guess what he might have
right there, Jason, right by the way.

Speaker 3 (01:40:34):
I just want him to know since he's playing blackjack.
I have a system.

Speaker 5 (01:40:38):
I never bust when I played blackjack, So we'll watch
your system.

Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
I never bust.

Speaker 2 (01:40:43):
Wait.

Speaker 4 (01:40:44):
So you're sitting there.

Speaker 2 (01:40:45):
You've got at least, you say, hypothetically, five, and the
dealer's showing a ten.

Speaker 3 (01:40:52):
No, I can't bust on a five.

Speaker 2 (01:40:55):
No, no, hold on, I'm just telling hold legain. So
you say you never bust the dealer shows it ten. Right, yeah,
you you you've got let's say three into two and
your next car's attention.

Speaker 4 (01:41:05):
You got fifteen.

Speaker 2 (01:41:06):
So you're saying you're gonna stay on a fifteen when
the dealers. Oh my gosh, I would never want to
play blackjack with you.

Speaker 3 (01:41:13):
Oh it works out.

Speaker 4 (01:41:14):
I mean here's it does not work out.

Speaker 3 (01:41:16):
Oh, yes it does.

Speaker 2 (01:41:17):
And you're so full of crap right now. No, not no, no,
you're telling me. If you're sitting there and the dealer
has a face card or a deal and you're fifteen,
you're gonna stay.

Speaker 3 (01:41:29):
If the dealer has a face card and I have
a three for thirteen, I will stay.

Speaker 4 (01:41:37):
I want to quit, Scott, Scott.

Speaker 2 (01:41:38):
I want a new part.

Speaker 3 (01:41:39):
That's why I'm so good in blackjack.

Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
I don't think you're good at it.

Speaker 3 (01:41:42):
Oh, I'm very good at blackjack. Trust me, I'm very good.

Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
Will you say? Trust me?

Speaker 4 (01:41:46):
The Dolphins are gonna win the super Bowl every single year.

Speaker 2 (01:41:49):
I trust you. Arizona is gonna win the National time.

Speaker 3 (01:41:52):
I can't go to the local casinos sit around to
play blackjack all day?

Speaker 2 (01:41:56):
Why not? What else do you have to do? Your
wife is going out of town. I want you to
prove your theory. I think your theory is bunk, and
I think everyone at the table would want to fight
you if you did that. You're like the guy. You're
like John Hine. You won't get out of the way
when you're waiting on your meal at a fast food place.

Speaker 3 (01:42:10):
You see people, You've seen people play like the dealer
right where they played the same rules as the dealer does.
Hit on sixteen, stay on seventeen. So oh yeah, there's
players that do that.

Speaker 2 (01:42:22):
Reason.

Speaker 4 (01:42:22):
Let me take you call morons.

Speaker 3 (01:42:24):
If you bust you have a zero percent chance of winning. Okay,
if you don't bust, at least you have a chance
of winning. And what makes you think that the dealer
doesn't have a bottom card just as bad as you
may have or anything like that. What makes you think
that he's got two phase cards.

Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
For a twenty, because that's usually how it freaks. So
here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
You know as I do mathematics.

Speaker 2 (01:42:49):
Okay, then you know the percentages would be in your
favor to hit. He would have three to four chances
for it to be a seven, and eight and nine.
How many options it would be for a face card
or a ten? You're crazy if you're not getting on that.

Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
Do you know how many people to sit at third
base and they yell across the table you better not hit.
I don't care what you got, you better not hit.
I'm telling you should learn how to play the game.
I can teach you, Chris, I'll take you with me
to Vegas and.

Speaker 2 (01:43:16):
Anie, I don't want to. That is not how you
play blackjack. Oh, that is how you end up getting
your face knocked off.

Speaker 3 (01:43:23):
Oh you're a professional blackjack player.

Speaker 4 (01:43:26):
Now, I'm definitely much more than apparently you are.

Speaker 2 (01:43:29):
If you're sitting there playing just soft, like, get out
of here with that, out of here with that.

Speaker 3 (01:43:35):
More people will agree with me than with you.

Speaker 4 (01:43:38):
I disagree one hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:43:40):
Stop promising me, you never follow. You can't promise anything,
all right. You promised me that the Arizona Wildcats are
gonna win the college basketball time.

Speaker 3 (01:43:49):
I ever see those guys that go to Vegas play blackjack,
and they record them playing like one or two hands
and putting like I've.

Speaker 2 (01:43:56):
Never seen anyone record themselves in a casino playing blackjack.

Speaker 3 (01:44:00):
Are you serious?

Speaker 2 (01:44:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:44:01):
Oh they're all over the place.

Speaker 2 (01:44:03):
Okay, yeah, they're saying I didn't I haven't seen I'm
not I'm not out looking for it.

Speaker 3 (01:44:10):
TikTok or something. They usually play at the l Cortes
and they played black check and they show them, you know,
like vetting a whole bunch of money on like one
or two hands and seeing how much they could win,
especially this one old guy. I see him doing it
a lot also. But I should. I should document myself
when I go.

Speaker 2 (01:44:27):
Yeah, go document yourself when you're going that when you
don't get to go because your theory is terrible.

Speaker 4 (01:44:33):
Wow, I'm losing my mind.

Speaker 2 (01:44:35):
You don't hit if the dealers show in a face
or an ace and you've got fifteen, I don't busboy,
Is it so hard for you to wrap your brain around? Yes,
it is. It is. It's like saying you don't need
a quarterback to play football. That's how that's how blown
my mind is right now. I've got to recover from this,

(01:44:55):
all right. It's already in playing get to sagar in
here to get it's caught up on everything in the
world sports. Still, we'll get to all of your tweets
to the show tonight, the Arnie's picks to wrap us up.

Speaker 4 (01:45:04):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
Steve Well?

Speaker 10 (01:45:05):
A reminder of the preseason NFL schedule starts this Thursday
with the Hall of Fame game Chargers Lions, and the
Chargers today gave veteran I mean he's played like a
veteran since the start, tackle Rashawn Slater. He's only been
in the league a few years already. Pro Bowls plural
four year extension worth ninety two million dollars guaranteed. The
Dallas Cowboys gave tight end Jake Ferguson a four year extension.

(01:45:28):
Washington wide receiver Terry McLaurin still wants a new contract,
but he reported to camp. He's now on the pup
list with an ankle injury.

Speaker 3 (01:45:35):
He did, everybody's doing what I told you a couple
of years ago.

Speaker 2 (01:45:38):
Blank.

Speaker 3 (01:45:39):
You notice that, don't you?

Speaker 4 (01:45:41):
All the rules are different now, well they.

Speaker 3 (01:45:45):
Plank's Like I said, come on in the camp, pretend
like you got a hamstring or a headache or whatever,
and then I'll deduct fifty thousand dollars a day from you.
That's exactly what they're doing.

Speaker 4 (01:45:55):
Again, the rule list belongs to the team.

Speaker 10 (01:45:58):
Also, just for the record, twenty nine Ers wide receiver
Juwan Jennings left practice with a calf injury. San Francisco
White out Ricky Pearsall was activated off the pup list.
The forty nine ers signed veteran defensive back Eli Apple.
The Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is week to week with
his bad back, so he will not return to practice
on Monday. Jimmy Garoppolo as the Rams backup QB. Five

(01:46:18):
WNBA games today, including a win for Connecticut which was
three and twenty but ripped Golden State ninety five sixty four.
There was a national TV game for Indiana at Chicago.
We get to see Kitlin clarky against Angel Rees again
or not. Caitlin Clark has no timetable for a return
from her growing injury. She's missed thirteen games this year
due to three different injuries.

Speaker 12 (01:46:39):
Now.

Speaker 10 (01:46:40):
Her teammate Kelsey Mitchell had thirty five points in a
win at Chicago ninety three seventy eight, but Angel Reese
didn't even play. She's missed two straight games with a
back injury. Victory's her Las Vegas, Phoenix and Atlanta, New York.
Star Breanna Stewart is out Monday with a leg injury.
The Bulls gave coach Billy Donovan an extension. In women's soccer,
England took the Eurofinal on pennal Le kicks against Spain.

(01:47:01):
Bubba Wallace was the NASCAR winner at Indy That ends
his one hundred race winless streak. Alex Poalow won the
IndyCar Race in Northern California, just three races left in
the IndyCar season. The next event is in a couple
of weeks in Portland, Oregon on Fox TV again. Joakeen
Neeman won the live golf event by three strokes. It's
his fifth win this year. Every time you win an

(01:47:23):
event in live golf, you get four million dollars. Congratulations.
The Mets won their seventh straight game. Mets over the
Giants tonight, five to three. The Mets are first in
the NL East, a game and a half over the Phillies.
Yankees beat the Phills four to three, Angels over Seattle
four to one. Cow Rally of the Mariners did hit
his forty first home run. Pittsburgh and Paul Skeen shot

(01:47:45):
out Arizona six to nothing. Boston over the Dodgers four
to three. Dodgers left thirteen men on base. The LA
Dodger lead on July third, with nine games over the Padres,
it's down to four. San Diego won nine to two
at Saint Louis. The Dodger record since July third is
five and thirteen. And then there's Colorado season. Baltimore beat

(01:48:06):
Colorado five to one. The losing pitcher, Austin Gomber is
zero to five with an ERA over six. The Rockies
record twenty seven and seventy eight. They are fifty one
games under the five hundred mark. We are still in July.

Speaker 3 (01:48:20):
What are your tickets available?

Speaker 10 (01:48:21):
Though test tickets available. Detroit had lost six in a row,
but beat Toronto ten to four. Blue Jays are the
first place team in the AL East. A's won their
fourth straight Red's won their fourth in a row. Texas
won at sixth straight wins for Washington and for Kansas City,
and tonight the Royals gay pitcher Seth Lugo an extension.
Cubs and Brewers each one. They're still tied for first

(01:48:43):
in the NL Central and starting Monday, Cubs at Brewers.
And this weekend MLB Speedway Classic a ballgame at Bristol
Motor Speedway. It's this Saturday night. It's going to be
August already, this Saturday night on Fox TV, Braves against
the Reds. The track has hosted NASCAR since nineteen sixty one.
This is going to be the first National or American

(01:49:04):
League game played in the state of Tennessee. And the
two teams will be wearing NASCAR themed uniforms, especially with
the printed numbers on Saturday. Also for the hats and
the helmets. Back to you, so.

Speaker 2 (01:49:14):
A lot of sponsor decals all over the place.

Speaker 10 (01:49:17):
It's not the driver suits. They're running the basis and
then that would be something.

Speaker 2 (01:49:23):
All right, Steve, have a great week, but just in
case the infield gets set on fire.

Speaker 4 (01:49:27):
I guess yeah, fire seats would be amazing.

Speaker 2 (01:49:31):
You know. One of the topics of conversation tonight that
kind of hit a little bit, Arnie, was the very
many a conversation we had about the Jeff Tigue allegations
and walk back with Oh, I was just joking. I
was just joking about Lebron James. Mister nobody writes, I've
never cared about who was on steroids or who wasn't,

(01:49:52):
because steroids can't replace actual talent. Barry Bonds allegedly benefited
from steroids, but he was he was a great player
for the Pirates before then saying from Mark McGuire and Oakland,
before Saint Louis and then the weed smoker, that could
apply to a lot of you tonight. Geez, dude who
allegedly use steroids should be in the Baseball Hall of Fame.

(01:50:13):
The only reason a Rod and Mark McGuire and the
rest of them are not Hall of famers is because
they didn't admit to you.

Speaker 3 (01:50:19):
I don't think people care about that anymore. You know,
maybe if you would ask me about what ten fifteen
years ago and that stigma and We're like, oh, we're
never gonna let them in with them, they didn't admit it.
Now it's like, please, enough is enough. Just if they
had the talent and put him in steroids doesn't make
you hit home runs or do anything like that. To me,

(01:50:41):
it also helps you heal faster, So I'm all for it.
I don't understand rapid porcupine. Now we know why Arnie
doesn't have time to shovel during the winter. He spends
all week mapping out his plan for global domination, just
like Pinky in the brain.

Speaker 4 (01:50:57):
Do you know who Pinky and the brain are?

Speaker 11 (01:50:58):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:51:00):
Fine, Johnny, Now this was something I've been wanting to
talk about all night. Johnny. Wow, Joe gets showing more
emotion for his horse winning than he did for the
NBA Championship.

Speaker 3 (01:51:11):
I saw that today. I saw him give the what
was the jockey a big hog? Gave the horse a
big slap, and he was excited. I thought he was
gonna break down and cry.

Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
It was crazy he did.

Speaker 3 (01:51:25):
Was he crying?

Speaker 2 (01:51:26):
Yeah he was. He was tearing up. And I saw
someone on Twitter today It made me laugh where they
laid out. Do you know what the realization that he
only plays basketball to do. The horse racing is something
that I mean, I wish I was really really good at,
something that I just liked basketball, that I just had

(01:51:48):
to do because I wanted to own horses or own
property or something.

Speaker 7 (01:51:52):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:51:52):
What's so about his run is when you see pictures
of him as a kid. Let's be honest, he was fat,
you know, he was Oh yeah, and you did. Even
if you lose weight, you don't expect it to be
one of the best basketball players of this planet. And
that's what he turned into. It's absolutely crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:52:10):
Let's see here, Colin, couple people on your picks, which
are coming up next. Colin writes, if Arnie is lucky,
the NFL will go to two preseason games to limit
his damage in the free fall season.

Speaker 4 (01:52:23):
Yeah, I like that, the free fall.

Speaker 3 (01:52:24):
Well I got the game and then the over under
for the game on Thursday. Okay, that's not crazy about
the over under though.

Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
Why not?

Speaker 3 (01:52:33):
It's tough to call. You know, usually the games go under,
it seems like, but it's a low number and it's
just tough to call, especially the you know, the defenses
are ahead of the game at this point.

Speaker 2 (01:52:43):
Right now. Oh, this is Matt is right, Matt is
so right here on Now do you hold on before
I ask about your blackjack strategy?

Speaker 4 (01:52:53):
Do you use it at the table or do you
do it on video?

Speaker 3 (01:52:56):
Both?

Speaker 4 (01:52:58):
Matt rights Arnie is a genius.

Speaker 2 (01:53:00):
This strategy is definitely a winning blackjack strategy, but for
video blackjack, I get that you do that at a
table and you may get a rat pack or a
kneecap or a curb stop from your table.

Speaker 3 (01:53:12):
Mats, I told you it does work at the tables
also it might as well.

Speaker 2 (01:53:17):
No, I'm telling you it will not work long term
at the tables and you'll get knocked out by someone
at the table are someone will be having a talking
to to you. I know you're a tough guy though
you're from the mean streets somewhere.

Speaker 3 (01:53:31):
I don't want to bore you with my mathematical skills.
But when I tell you mathematically, I do it the
right way that that's the way it's supposed to be done.
You know what one of the one of the gamblers
that comes on that guy's fick, he was a two
time blackjack winner in Vegas at one of the hotels
out there.

Speaker 2 (01:53:50):
Is that his theory is that his plan that he
does think he takes my theory. Yeah, he takes your theory.

Speaker 3 (01:53:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:53:56):
Well, speaking of being good at math griddles, mc blackout
does point something out here that makes you very bad
at math here. I was just reminder heading into the
free season. Larnie did have an OH and fifteen week
last year during the preseason.

Speaker 3 (01:54:09):
I don't know it was oh fifteen, but I remember,
oh for a lot. I was oh for a lot.
I don't know what happened. It was like I said,
we've been doing this for twelve years, and for eleven years,
I've been just deadly. I've been I've been right off.

Speaker 2 (01:54:21):
I haven't been deadly for I have Why do you
say I've not been deadly? Because I remember these things. Man,
you've stopped picking the preseason last sea of the last
four years, like, oh, the regular season is what really matters.

Speaker 1 (01:54:35):
No.

Speaker 3 (01:54:35):
Last year it was just brutal for me. I just
I don't know what went wrong, but I hey, you
got about back. It happens every once in a while.

Speaker 2 (01:54:42):
So it was the year before and the year before
that and the year before that. Every year, by about
the third preseason game, it was like, hey, you're gonna
pick the preseason games. No, no, man, I'm just getting
ready for the regular season. That's what really matters around here.

Speaker 3 (01:54:54):
Are you telling me I'm not this thinking genius that
the preseasons not the free seasons were you're telling me.

Speaker 4 (01:55:00):
Well, I mean it might be for some. I don't
know if it is for you.

Speaker 2 (01:55:05):
And let's keep in mind too, the stinking genius moniker
is based on something that happened in like nineteen eighty four. Yeah,
that's right.

Speaker 3 (01:55:13):
Side the point though, that's you know what we should
do is I should pick like ten listeners and do
my picks against them in the preseason, just to show
you how I'd beat everybody, just to show you.

Speaker 2 (01:55:24):
We'll just throw your picks out there. It's not that
you've put them all on Twitter anyway, on your screenshot
of your Yellow notebooks. So you'll be good to go.
You'll be good to go, all right, Listen, we gotta
break Arnie's picks are coming up next as we head
down the home stretch. With this reminder, you can get
this show and every show on Fox Sports Radio by

Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcast,
and you'll see today's show posted right after we get
off the air. Arnie's picks are next right here on
Fox Sports Radio. A great job tonight, Mary awesome. Is

(01:56:08):
always good to have Brion for a Sunday night. Bri
Are you back with me on Friday? Of course?

Speaker 3 (01:56:15):
Okay, we just had a little scheduling a snaffo because
Ian was on VK nah, so I'm coming back to
my normal shift.

Speaker 2 (01:56:23):
I had some fomo, not gonna lie.

Speaker 4 (01:56:25):
It's fun show on Friday night. Arnie even stayed up.

Speaker 3 (01:56:28):
And listened oh yeah to.

Speaker 2 (01:56:31):
To say you're awesome on updates as he always is.
And the millions and millions of editors behind the scenes
that helped bring us all the great audio that we
didn't play, but Big Ben Mahler will when he comes
up next. Now, let me tell you guys something. It
is the first time, at least with a game on
the horizon, that Arnie will have football in his pick.

(01:56:53):
So take it away, stinking genius.

Speaker 3 (01:56:55):
Let's do it go. My friend the Hall of Fame game,
and everybody's gonna be betting on this game, Chris, don't
fool every buff. They all are. They're not gonna bet
big amount, but you know, uh, you know people that
usually gamble, they'll put a twenty dollar bill, a fifty
dollars bill, one hundred dollar bill on this because gotta
get action on the first game, especially the first preseason game.

(01:57:21):
Now we know it's gonna be the Chargers and it's
going to be the Lions. Look at the quarterbacks that
will play in the game. Okay, I like the Chargers
a Heineke and Trey Lance, and you'll probably see a
little bit of Djo.

Speaker 2 (01:57:38):
Got.

Speaker 3 (01:57:39):
That's easy for me to say, Yeah, he'll probably get
a little bit of time. Detroit's only gonna go with
a hooker and Allen it looks like because I don't
think Jared Goff is gonna get any playing time here.
They both like to win. But I'm going with the
Chargers plus the one in this one, like taking the
point and the over runners very tough. In NFL preseason,

(01:58:04):
the games seem to go under the defense seems to
have the upper ham but in this game, I feel
like there's gonna be some turnovers that lead the touchdowns.
So I'm taking the over thirty two and a half
in this one. So give me the Chargers plus the
one and the over thirty two and a half. So
there you have my picks, two of them. As the

(01:58:25):
police no longer strictly for entertainment purposes, only, the preseason
is the preseason, and we know who the king of
the preseason is, Chris It is me. How many in
the road do I have to get right for me
to prove that I'm the king again of the preseason?

Speaker 2 (01:58:42):
At least get one right, I think would be a
good start. So let's just start there, get one right.

Speaker 3 (01:58:47):
I woant to start off at least getting eight of
my first ten right. How about that?

Speaker 2 (01:58:51):
Is that what I would like today? Picks? Right?

Speaker 4 (01:58:54):
I mean, because we have time?

Speaker 2 (01:58:55):
Is what you used to let Aaron pick games whenever
you like?

Speaker 1 (01:59:01):
Who do?

Speaker 2 (01:59:01):
I like? The Lions minus the one and I'll take
the under thirty five.

Speaker 3 (01:59:06):
You're just going against me. It's under thirty two and
a half.

Speaker 2 (01:59:10):
By the way, Oh I'm sorry, I'm sorry thirty two
and a half. Where'd you even find numbers? At Scores
and Odds doesn't even have it posted yet.

Speaker 3 (01:59:16):
It's up on h I saw it on ESPN.

Speaker 4 (01:59:18):
Oh okay, ESPN app has it in.

Speaker 3 (01:59:21):
It's on me if you put click on scores on Thursday,
I'll give you the thing and says here Detroit minus
one over under thirty two and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:59:30):
All right, I'll be taking Detroit minus that one and
the under of thirty two.

Speaker 3 (01:59:36):
I was gonna take Detroit, but I did change my mind.

Speaker 4 (01:59:39):
You'll probably change your mind. No way to the third quarter.

Speaker 3 (01:59:43):
Chargers plus the one over thirty two and a half.
And when I get on a roll, you know it's
just gonna be I'm gonna I'm gonna be insufferable, you know.

Speaker 7 (01:59:52):
No.

Speaker 2 (01:59:52):
I I'm here for it, absolutely here for it. I can't.

Speaker 4 (01:59:55):
I hope you are.

Speaker 3 (01:59:56):
Do you already seein these pigs are very important. I mean,
people want to make some money, man, and the preseasons
is the start of everything.

Speaker 2 (02:00:06):
Do you do you think these people are waiting for
your pick so they can make money on it? Okay?
I had a couple of tweets before we get out
of here. Vincent has a good idea. He writes, Arnie
should do a contest and pick preseason games head to
head against fans of the show, and whoever beats Arnie
at the end of the preseason wins a prize. Maybe
that prize could be I don't know the new cost

(02:00:27):
of the show, because you bet your job. You bet
your job on the Raiders having fewer wins than the Dolphins,
and we all know that's not gonna end well for you.
I laughed so hard at this from Douglas, who writes,
do you guys think cal Rally will be randomly drug
tested because of how many home runs he's been hitting?

Speaker 3 (02:00:44):
If he hasn't already, you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (02:00:46):
I wish that they would let us know a little
bit more about that, because he's had to have right.

Speaker 4 (02:00:53):
Where did this come from?

Speaker 2 (02:00:54):
I mean, I've followed cal Raley in college and I
didn't I mean, you're pretty good hitter, never thought anything
like this.

Speaker 3 (02:01:01):
I just I'm in, Yeah, who would have read Big Greg?
And IOWA, go ahead read that one?

Speaker 2 (02:01:09):
Please? Which one? Which one? Hold on? So I got
a like page. This is how this is what I
warned you about, Big Greg. Arenie, your math skills at
the blackjack table would get you caught like an ocean's thirteen,
you'll get knocked out of your chair and slammed headfirst
into a slot machine before you're thrown out.

Speaker 3 (02:01:29):
That's only if you play third base too. If you
play third base, then people get really upset because then
you dictate the cards and what happens.

Speaker 4 (02:01:37):
On that I'm here to tell you right now.

Speaker 2 (02:01:39):
If you stand on fifteen when the dealer is showing
a face card or a ten, or maybe even a
nine or an eight, it's not just third base where
people are gonna get mad if you don't.

Speaker 3 (02:01:47):
Maybe maybe that's why I win when I played blackjack.
Maybe that's why I mean, I.

Speaker 2 (02:01:52):
Would figure that you went so much that you would
just be doing it all the time.

Speaker 3 (02:01:56):
Well, there is a problem. There is one slight problem.
What's that I have ad So you know, if I'm
not winning, I just throw all the chips in it.
Go let's go.

Speaker 2 (02:02:04):
All one hand, Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (02:02:06):
Oh my god, Yeah, I can't. I can't stand there
all day, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:02:09):
And by the way Rick writes, Rick Flair gets the
final word. Oh but one of my favorites checking in
on the show tonight. Arnie is gonna be working seven
days a week to pay for the taxes in Connecticut,
he might be able to afford court side seats to
multiple Knix games when all of a sudden done.

Speaker 3 (02:02:25):
Yeah, the taxes are horrible in Connecticut.

Speaker 5 (02:02:27):
Up a little bit, Yeah, paid time.

Speaker 2 (02:02:31):
There is a benefit to living in a small state,
little limited population, a little benefits even though Connecticut is
not like something. Yeah Connecticut, Yeah, got me either. All right, buddy, listen,
Uh have fun being a bachelor, Thanks you, thanks, good
luck and being a realtor next week, I really do
want to go in depth on your plans for what
packages we need to get for you.

Speaker 4 (02:02:51):
And that's not an out of contact.

Speaker 2 (02:02:52):
Yeah, yeah, that's that's what he needs to spend and
make sure he gets all the games, all right, for
Mary Spree, for the Sagre and Arnie. I'm Chris Plank.
Well see you next Sunday night. Ben's next on Fox
