Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to sports radio. But scout stinking genius, let's go.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Big boy, let's go. Did you go to Annapolis this
weekend or what?
Speaker 1 (00:11):
Oh my gosh, come on, dude, what come on?
Speaker 2 (00:16):
I thought you said you were going this. I thought
you said you were going this weekend.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
You know where my son goes to school. You can't
disrespect like that.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
No, No, that's just total.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
That's You're gonna get me in so much the show
off the top. At least I know where Shaye went
to college.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
I don't think you are sorry, right, So I I
just I'm here for it. Are you going to complain
about the schedule this weekend and how it wasn't enough
for you and how this.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Was horrible?
Speaker 3 (00:55):
It was absolutely figured. It took it took one snap
for you to be like, oh, it's so over this
cow football right now.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
No, just after the game, you didn't give me anything else.
You gave me a couple of potato chips and that
was it. You didn't feed me anything else in no lunch,
and you gave you sent me home.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
And I didn't like that at all, to be honest,
we got another week to wait.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
You haven't earned it yet college football fans, But I
will say this, Yeah, I am. I'm thinking it's time
to reevaluate these overseas trips for college football. And I
saw the rundown. I mean, you ruined it with screwing
up Will's College for goodness sakes. Yes, but hey, my
(01:35):
day was already ruined. I watched way too much of
your record league game today while I was flying back
on a plane.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I didn't get any shots. I was over for six
last week.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
I didn't even see you on the sport. Were you playing?
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:45):
I played a lot. I played like the first you know,
ten minutes of each half.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Did you see much of them out there playing?
Speaker 3 (01:50):
I didn't think.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
I didn't think I saw much of you out there planing. No,
I definitely didn't.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
But I also well, I saw the notification pop up
on my phone that Arnie went live, and I was
I was so confer I was like, what could he
possibly be going like? So I clicked on it obviously,
and I just saw the gym.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
We have a good team, man.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
I saw the gym and I just started laughing un controlled,
like I couldn't stop laughing when I just saw that.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Yeah, you know, the best part is if you if
you watch the sideline because one of the guys, no, no,
but what of the guys got into thank you, got
into a little bit of a scuffle and one of
the girls came running out of the court to push
the guy. And I'm like, wow, it must be girlfriend day.
And somebody turned to me and said, that's his mom.
(02:35):
I'm like, what, so you got into a fist fight
with his mom.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
I'm like, mom came running out of the court.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Yeah, to push a guy that was playing a little
rough and following her son.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Bro, I'll tell you what that's uh. I still think
Iowa State Kansas State was more compelling than that. But
you did have me hooked in for a while. Listen,
I know we've got Shidoor Sanders were contractually obligated to
have a couple of Shitore Sanders segments soon after he
was than for the game last night.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
This is our last.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Show before the first full weekend of college football. So
we've got a fun schedule of games Thursday.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
And controversy with that with that pick, we have to
go over that later on too. Which one's that the
Iowa State Kansas State game. There's no controversy, Oh there's
there is. There is a controversy.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Why is there a controversy?
Speaker 2 (03:24):
You want me to talk about it now or you
want to wait till the pig segment.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Does this affect your pick record or something? Is that
what we're talking about?
Speaker 2 (03:30):
We have to throw that came out technically.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Now why.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
What's your reasoning why you throw it out? Well, the
reasoning is by accident.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
On Twitter, I said take Kansas State, but last Sunday
I gave out Iowa State as my pick.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
So so you're saying we should listen, I'll hear it out.
If you want to stand by and say you honestly
just mistyped, I'll go out.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
But I don't think you can honestly say that.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
We all it was a total mistake, Like Mary, did you?
Did you pull it?
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Do we have a producer tonight? I'm just kind of
curious how no one is in.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I thought I told you somebody show I guess I
told I. I thought I told somebody to pull that
part where I made the pick by mistake, or you know,
I typed it in by mistake, but I gave it.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Out on Sunday, I gave out the winner. I will say, uh,
did you got can't?
Speaker 3 (04:20):
You got uh? The Oh? You didn't get anything? Right?
I got the can.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
I guess the h. I did take ye the over
in the uh in one of the games?
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Now did either one of those games go over fifty
and a half?
Speaker 3 (04:34):
All right?
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Kansas minus fourteen?
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I'm sure Kansas is what you had.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Yeah, Kansas, mine is fourteen.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
So you want to instead of saying one in one
is what I.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Want to say?
Speaker 1 (04:43):
How could you be one and one?
Speaker 2 (04:44):
You got to throw out the Kansas State and you
gotta throw out the Kansas State.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Ayowa was stay game.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Just throw the whole game out.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Then you're one and two. No, what do I want
the Stanford Hawaii game? Because you still took the over.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Well, that doesn't count. You got to throw the whole
game out. I just said, what whatever?
Speaker 3 (05:02):
What? No, because there's there's no throwing it up, and
we've got the physical evidence here we're looking at.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
And there's a couple of other reasons too. The star
of Kansas State got hurt on the opening like opening
two minutes.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Of the game, their best running back.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah, yeah, And and then the rain was coming down
and just there was a.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
That's where my beef is, like, I don't care about
your pick record. Whatever you want to do on ONNI
Just if it makes you feel better to say you're
one and one all season.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Long, that's fine. Just change the rules.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
We haven't had a good field game for several of
these overseas trips. Last year was a mess between Georgia
Tech and Florida State. Saturday was a disaster for I.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Didn't know whether it was going to be such a
factor in the game, and I actually didn't think about
the rain or anything like that, and it was a
big factor in the game that had turnovers, and the
rain was a good part of why there was three
of the four turnovers early in the game. But I
did enjoy watching the game. I was into it. It
was a Big twelve game. I just kept saying, to myself,
(06:10):
if this is the best the Big twelve hass to offer,
Arizona's clinched that the conference already, My friend, it's gonna
be easy pickings for Arizona this year.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
You think that they're gonna be able to do something
with that Iowa State and Kansas State defense.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Those those teams are they're just horrible. They're just horrible.
If that's the best the Big Twelve has got the offer,
we'll win that conference hands down. I feel good now.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Going into this year. I'm ready to roll.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Let's go. Let's go. We're gonna win a Big Twelve
conference this year.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Let's go. Well, I'll say this much. The overall, the
overriding thought that I took away from it wasn't Arizona's
gonna win the Big Twelve by any stretch of the
imagination what I took from it, but it was, my goodness,
if we're gonna play this is an important.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
College football game. It was important game.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
I mean, that's a huge You could sit here and
live in your Laala land that you live in that
neither one of these teams there's it as Arizona, which
is not reality. Those are two of the best teams
of the Big Twelve. And you played potentially a game
that could be rematching the Big Twelve championship in a
meaningful regular season game in Ireland, which the fans seem
to be all about. I thought the crowd of I
(07:16):
was State fans and went in Kansas State fans. It
looked awesome and it sounded amazing, But Arnie, that's you know,
that might be the difference between one of those teams
making the playoffs and not making the playoffs. And we're
playing on a terrible field in the middle of which
I'm sure was great weather, but just unseasonable conditions.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
It was just it was a weird vibe to me
all the way around it.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Well, of course it's a weird vibe when the quarterbacks
father and brother get into a fizz fight, you know.
I just that kind of that kind of brings a
weird vibe to it. I saw that yesterday. They sent
that to me in the middle of the show, and
I'm like, this isn't real. You're not You're not getting
me this time.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
This isa I thought it was fake.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Oh totally. I go, oh, this must be a joke.
And this is like two fans fighting or right, just
something like that. And no, it was right. I even
said no to like two or three times before they
said it's all over Twitter. You got to look at Twitter.
Everybody has it. I go, Okay, if everybody has off,
I'll just believe it like everybody else's.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
But I still don't believe it.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
But that's crazy, man, that's insane.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Yeah, and if you missed when Arnie's talking about a
video surfaced after the game between I was day in
Kansas State yesterday.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
Did you and Willard talk about this last night?
Speaker 5 (08:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, Okay, Well the video was released I think during
the show when we.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
Were on Okay, and it was a picture of Avery Johnson,
the starting quarterback for Kansas State, his dad and his
brother brawling on the streets, brawling like throwing hands. So
you never know, right, everyone's got a joke every single
time you see a little person that's like kind of
dressing a football uniform. What's the joke?
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Look, look Kyler Murray showed up for practice tonight and
everyone's got their little So I don't know if it's
some sort of joke about, you know, hey, family feud.
But it wasn't a joke. They had only a statement afterwards.
I guess, I don't know. I guess that's just how
they handle business. I mean, could you imagine fighting your dad,
I fighting with your pops.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
I wasn't. I was trying to think was the last
time I got to a fistfight? No, I'd never fought
my dad. I did fight my co host I don't
know if you know that I did fight my co host,
and not shocking at all.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
I was gonna throw him through a window. I've heard
this one before.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
I think, yeah, but he's a he was a professional
baseball player, and I didn't think i'd be able to
do that. I think he'd kicked me.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
I don't think you would have either. Yeah, but I
mean did we Did they ever really get to the
gist of the why behind.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
The I'm just going to guess that maybe the word
pint might have something to do with it.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
I'm not alcohol could have been involved, could be To
go full circle, to go full circle back to the
original point, We've seen NFL games head overseas consistently, more
games every year. College just starting to jump on the
bandwagon with not as many, right, one game a year.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
That's just about the money. He like, what does Kansas
Day have they give up a home game for this?
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah, I don't you know, I don't know what kind
of money they're making, but I know a lot. Yeah,
I know it's expensive as hell to travel to those games.
And when I say travel, I don't just mean as
the fans arny they got They've got to treat it
like a road game for both teams, so they take
their entire setup with them.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
What one hundred and some people go, not just the tea,
not just the players, but good players.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
Actually they hook up their families and you know, the
administrators and all the donors want to go.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
So I don't know, Man, I don't see. Bob Stoops comes.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
On our local station, our affiliate in Norman carry f
and he was saying, man, I wouldn't mind have back
in the day playing a game like that, And that
kind of blew me away a little bit. I wonder
if for the coaches it's a good opportunity to kind
of I don't have a getaway before the season starts,
get away from some of the noise. But damn, Marty,
the last few times I've seen a fan base go
(10:51):
out there, they take over Florida State fans did last year,
Nebraska fans did the year before. He had an incredible
showing this year of Kansas State and Iowa State fans.
Maybe we just sit back. I can say, all right,
if the fans in the school and the conferences are
cool with it, maybe this is kind of a big
deal over there. Maybe we should embrace him more. And
I know you want more on the menu. You're you're
mad about the menu and opening it.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
But it's got to be in week zero.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
If you're going to do this doubling or going over there,
it's got to be in week zero. Can't be like
week one or week five. And and by the way,
I know you.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
No, no, I'm agreeing with you. I'm saying no, you're
absolutely right.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
So and I didn't hear the stat, but they did
give it out during the game the teams that return
from doublin the last couple of years. Yeah, well, do
you remember the.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Stat on that one?
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I started, I started to tweeted out and then I
thought it wasn't believable. So I was going to go
back and research it.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
What was like an eight or something like that right
after or oh, like the game or two afterwards.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
It was well for but it was pretty close.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Yeah, I'm like, wow, man, I go now I know
who I want to bet on or bet against the
next couple of weeks, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Yeah, I think it's going to be interesting to see
how this uh pans out. Were you doing were you
doing some scouting work late watching Hawaii? And they're they're
Japanese kicker who was the hit of social media because
he learned how to kick watching Youube videos.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
That wasn't it was on during our show.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
Oh okay, okay, it.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Wasn't a late game. Hawaii was the seven thirty game,
I believe seven thirty Eastern. So yeah, we had it
write on during the game. I was enjoying that I
did miss out. What game did I miss out? And
I think I missed out on the Kansas game that
was on Fox TV and every Fox affiliate had it
other than the one up here in Vermont.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Are you serious?
Speaker 1 (12:37):
Yeah? You know why?
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Because what they did is they aired some Bologney NFL
show for an hour and then they aired the Bill's
preseason game after that.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Oh I see, well that's big money maker.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
I would assume, Oh yeah, but I wanted to see
the you know, the college football game.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
But they're like, oh, I don't blame it. I don't
blame it. Yeah, it was fun though, I was. I
was happy to I was happy to see I was
eight win it whenever they got a little bit gutsy
right going for it when they did. I'll add one
more thing too, and I I think there's a good
chance that if i Was State stays healthy, they're gonna
end up playing in that Big twelve championship game the show,
(13:14):
if it's against Arizona.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
But they looked they looked really good by the.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Way, gutsy or did you say stupid? When Candas Kansas
Date went for it on fourth and oh, I was
talking about Iowa State's decision whenever they went for the
touchdown instead of the field goal.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
But I thought he had it kids.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
I did too. I thought it was a lousy mark
they were getting. Kansas State was getting glousy marked all
game one. But they went forward on fourth and one
when they're over eight nine, Yeah, with over eight minutes
left in the game, and the weather was bat so
you never know when the other team's going to commit
a turnover or fumble or or whatever happens, and you're
gonna get the ball back if you hold them three
and out, or even if they get a first down,
(13:53):
you still got plenty of time. You're only down a
field goal, right, and they decided to go for it
on their own twenty nine yard line. That's insane crazy.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
You know though. Here's what's great. Number one, We have
a handful of games to talk about. We have the
entire NFL preseason to look back upon, and Arnie, this
week college football starts for real. I mean we start
with Boise on Thursday night. In addition to the Texas
Ohio State game on Saturday. You got syracuston Tennessee at
(14:20):
the same time.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Yeah, but that's about twenty five games on Thursday.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Well, I mean, chill out again.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
You're inviting me to dinner, but you're but but you're
just giving me potato chips?
Speaker 1 (14:30):
What are you doing to me?
Speaker 2 (14:31):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Does every single game have to involve a ranked team
for it to be good for you?
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Can you just give me a good game? How about that?
Is that too much azz for?
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Well? Thursday, you do have a ranked team in action.
You got Boise State playing South Caro, South Florida.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
That's that's the good game. That's that's the one good
game there.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Yeah, You've You've got Nebraska Cincinnati. You got a big
twelve hour excuse me, a big ten, big twelve matchup
on Thursday night and at.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Gee I think you have East Carolina and NC State too.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
You know you got that Friday night. Friday night, I
think is real interesting because you got Bama or excuse me,
Auburn and Baylor on Friday night. I mean, that's a
pretty big game for Auburn. They they can't stub their toll,
and some people think Baylor is a potential Big twelve champ.
And then of course the laundry list of great games.
On Saturday, you got a big time game. On Sunday,
(15:17):
you got Bill Belichick's debut.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
On Monday, you.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Do have Georgia Tech Colorado. I want to see how
Colorado's gonna be and how Prime is gonna handle losing
every game by fifty points.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Now suddenly they're gonna be that bad and just everywhere. Yeah, exactly, I've.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
Got my I got my three storylines, Arenie, the three
biggest storylines for the college football casuals. I know you
don't have this on your roman numeral rundown.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
No, like, but I gave you like twenty five of them.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Yeah, we need to talk about the Roman numeral rundown.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
I think, just just my opinion, for instance, whenever you
just put one line in on each thing, like I
don't I don't really know if that I don't know
if that's the guess for instance, like it's a normal
sixteen No, you do for sixteen s percentages super Bowl percentages.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
I sent you the story.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
I figure you look at the stories I sent you,
don't you Well.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
I mean you might have sent the text last week.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
I don't hold every single text you sent me, and
you fall for every fake text out there.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
No, that's it's a list of all the super Bowl percentages,
each team's percentage to make the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
I thought you'd find that interesting, right, So what do
you want to do with it? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
I just said you it interesting. Oh my goodness, But
I bet you five bucks you'll bring up the Taylor
Swift lookalike that was at the game.
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Didn't even see that?
Speaker 1 (16:37):
That's Roman numeral number eighteen.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
Well what do you want to how about that?
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Did you see a picture of her? You sent it
to me. That was one that actually popped right up.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
I looked at her, and I'm like that, well that
is Taylor Swift. They must use the real picture. But
that if you zoom in real clothes, it wasn't her.
But you could make a lot of money if you
look a lot like Taylor Swift.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
Get you That just starts showing up places and just
keep that Ara. It's like that miss Was that really
Taylor Swift?
Speaker 5 (17:02):
Here? Nobody?
Speaker 3 (17:03):
Kids?
Speaker 2 (17:03):
How do you like benefit? How do you make money
off that? Do you? Just like? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
You gotta has more attention than it is actual. Mon's
like that.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Fake Justin Bieber that performed on stage and nobody knew
it the.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Ater like two songs. You're like, I don't think that's
really him?
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Who would know? Who the hell would know?
Speaker 3 (17:21):
All right, quick break. When we come back, we'll dive
into what we learned from the preseason. You got Arty's

Arnie your Boy. JP Hunkle here on Twitter brings up
a really good point. Yeah, it's Arninge playing here on
Fox Sports Radio. He writes, I hope number zero Arnie
doesn't make the playoffs in his rec league this year.
Remember what happened to the other zeros in this year's playoffs, Tatum,
Lillard and Halliburn.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
It's a really good point. I'm concerned about that. I
add number zero. That is my number. There's I wanted
to go with doubles zero. I should have thought about that.
Now it makes sense. Yeah, we're going to make the playoffs.
We're we're in first or second place. With six and two,
so we will make will either finish first or second.
We have one more game left before the playoffs start. Actually,
(19:08):
we had a kid today that was filling in and
he really messed up his ankle. He got hurt.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
Uh oh yeah, not wood.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Does that knock? With that he's okay? Or not with
that he's not? So you can play more.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
Well, I played a last game. I played the whole
game win ozer for six. I was horrible. Today's games
only played about ten to fifteen minutes each game.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
By the way, where we had good team, we have
a real damn good team.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
This is a fun team to play with.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Good many. I think you're the only host in the
history of Fox Sports Radio that's talked about his recor
league basketball team this much. It's impressive. And by the way,
I did also want to say thank you to Roman
Numeal fifteen, Roman Numeral nineteen, Roman Numeal twenty, where you
actually allow me to be a little part of this
show right with my NFL picks and my Vegas prediction.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
But I don't think the super Bowl is going to London.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Well, I w put that back up there, because you
know why I put that. Dan Patrick said, well, it
certainly looks like that's where we're headed. I'm like, oh,
I whether if Plague's gonna go ahead and revisit this
or you because you were so dead against it ever happened,
I'm still against it. You could still be against it.
But do you think it will.
Speaker 3 (20:16):
I still don't think it's gonna happen. No, I don't
think it's gonna happen. I just don't. It's not an event.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Like I said, if the money's there, like you said,
they'll play in Saudi Arabia.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
If the money is there.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
The money's there. I mean the money's here too. I
mean what I asked this question a lot. What more
does the NFL need financially? When you're like, oh, so
much money, I'm like, they're making a lot of money now, yeah,
how much more do they need?
Speaker 2 (20:43):
I don't know how much more they get for having
in London or not I have.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
That's way above my pay grade and I wouldn't even
want to have it there. But I do think it's
gonna happen. I feel like the NFL, look what's going
on just in the last five years of the overseas games,
just we started with just like one and it was
so special. We got up early and and we're like, okay,
I'm gonna get up in six thirty the morning for
the people of the West Coast just to watch a
(21:10):
special game. Now we got well like eight, nine, ten,
something like that. It's not special anymore. Just it's gotten
out a hand, to be honest. But maybe they realize that.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
You know, do you know how long they've been doing
international games in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
I want to say, like fifteen years.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Ten years and seven, two thousand and.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Seven, eighteen years, eighteen years.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
The Giants Beacher Dolphins in the very first one that
they had, that was in let's two thousand and seven.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
That was in the city now London.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
The first game in Mexico City was actually twenty sixteen
and that was the Texans and the Raiders. That was
a great game with Mario Cooper made a play. But
I don't know, let's see what the success of the
Madrid games look like. They're not going back to Dublin
this year. There's gonna be a Melbourne game next year.
The Rams are playing there against somebody. So I just
I think it's still what it is. I think it's
(22:03):
still kind of a unique special thing, even though, like
you said, the only the only region that they've been
every single year is London. I mean they just started
in Mexico, and they didn't go in twenty or twenty one,
and they didn't go with the X three or twenty four,
and they're not going this year.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Thinking of all the extra money you could make or
you have interest in the NFL if you can get
to London's and the Mexico cities and you know, and
and stuff like that and all these overseas places to
really get into the NFL. But college football is different.
Did you see the pregame on the on the Iowa
State Kansas State game, which I saw a lot of them,
(22:39):
well where they where they would up to average people
out in the streets and said can you name one
college football team? And one guy said the Dodgers. One
person's at the Yankees, And they said can you name
a mascot? And one guy said Mickey Mouse, which I
thought was a pretty good guest to be out with it.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
That's not bad to me.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
If you don't know any mascots, Key Bounce would have
been a good one. Mascot.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
Yeah, good points.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
But they had no idea who was playing and what
it was about. But the NFL is completely different when
you're bringing out there there.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
I also, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Here's where I'm curious, is are you doing it because
there's such a fervor for it in that area, the
vocals are crazy about it. Is that why you're doing it?
Or is it where they're paying you a lot of
money because they want to be able to advertise in showcase.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Hey come to London, come to purse both of it?
Speaker 3 (23:30):
Right, Yes, So I don't know. I don't know where
that money is, but I will say this much. I
still don't think we're at the point where you're ever
going to see a playoff game or a super Bowl
in London or overseas. You probably they Yeah, I'm not
going to tune out right, but I'm telling you right now,
I'm gonna die on this.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
He'll tell you.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
I just don't why take something that's overpriced and barely
affordable for every American red blooded sports I think, and
completely take him out of the mix for it.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
I think if I asked you ten or fifteen years ago,
do you think we'll play like eight or nine games
overseas a year. You go, No, that'll never happen. It's
a one type thing, and you know, look what it's
gotten to now. I probably know what I really thought
would have happened by now is we'd have a team
over there.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Either.
Speaker 2 (24:11):
We've talked about having a team in Mexico City a
long time ago, did we not? That was a rumor?
Speaker 3 (24:17):
Right?
Speaker 1 (24:17):
And did it every ten years ago? It never happened,
right But me?
Speaker 3 (24:20):
I mean, and again you keep it's not like we
just we were playing We played one game the Royal
wy The NFL played one game from two thousand and
seven to two thousand and twelve overseas, and then they
just started playing multiple games in London and now you're
starting to see it grow beyond that. So I still
(24:40):
don't think we're gonna play a Super Bowl overseas, but
we are sure playing a hell of a lot more
games than ever thought we would at this point and
going to different places. I mean, I still don't know
do they care about the NFL in Madrid? You know,
when the Commander is and your Dolphins play there in November?
Is that gonna be one of those games and everyone's
talking about a Madrid I.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Think I'll go out there. Maybe I'll go out there
for the game.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
Maybe you will.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
All right, my wife went to the US Open today.
She's going to games. Why can't I go to a game.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
I didn't say you couldn't. I just say, there's a
difference between saying you're gonna go and then actually go.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
She went.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
So if she's going to start going, I'm going.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
That's what my dad used to always tell me. Steve Desager,
You're a sayer, not a doer, And that's kind of
what I feel like, aren't.
Speaker 8 (25:25):
Oh yeah, let's start with the NFL news, shall we?
Knowing that the league's regular season opener is Thursday, September fourth,
Dallas at Philadelphia. Minnesota traded quarterback Sam Howell to Philly today,
the Eagles cut quarterback Dorian Thompson Robinson. The Minnesota Vikings
signed veteran quarterback Carson Wentz and cut QB Brett Rippon.
(25:48):
By the way, Philadelphia backup quarterback Tanner McKee has a
broken thumb and will not go on injured reserve, but
Raiders backup quarterback Aidan O'Connell will miss six to eight
weeks with a broken wrist suffered this weekend. The Browns
release quarterback Tyler Huntley. They may carry four quarterbacks, including
both rookies. We'll see the NFL's cut down deadline as
(26:09):
Tuesday afternoon to get the rosters down to fifty three
and then the waiver claims begin. The preseason ended last night.
As you mentioned, most college football teams open the season
next weekend This Friday on Fox TV Auburn at Baylor,
and then Saturday on Fox the Big Noon Kickoff noon Eastern.
Number one Texas plays at number three Ohio State. Tommy
(26:30):
Fleetwood won the PGA's Tour Championship. He earns the first
place check of ten million dollars and the US team
captain Keegan Bradley will be making six captains choices for
the Ryder Cup on Wednesday. He just finished tied for
seventh at the Tour Championship. He might pick himself. There
hasn't been a playing captain in the Ryder Cup since
Arnold Palmer in nineteen sixty three. Coming up Tuesday, the
(26:53):
Major League Baseball schedule for next year will be released. Reportedly,
they will have a Field of Dreams games again in
Iowa next summer. Remember that was such a hit the
first time they did that with the White Sox and
walk off home run to beat the Yankees in the
Cornfields of twenty twenty one, they are returning and reportedly
it'll be the Phillies against the Twins next summer in Dyersville, Iowa.
(27:17):
As for the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, today,
attendance twenty six thousand for the final.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (27:24):
Another shutout for Taiwan seven to nothing in the championship
over Nevada. That's four shutouts in the five games they
played at Williamsport, PA this year.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
The Las Vegas team on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
We have Firth certificates on them. Can we check that
for you?
Speaker 8 (27:38):
What about twenty years ago, thirty years ago when the
Janny Almonte No, I mean when Taiwan used to win
almost every year.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
I remember Danny Almonte who was striking everybody. Ye older
than everybody.
Speaker 8 (27:49):
Turned out to be twenty six. The Las Vegas team
on Saturday won the US title, beating Connecticut, which then
won the third place game. Today, the Phillies were three
two winners over Washington and while Atlanta beat the Mets
four to three. The Mets do host the Phillies starting
Monday night a three game series.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
They'll go, yeah, I'm sure you will.
Speaker 8 (28:08):
The Dodgers and Padres, We'll look at those Madrid tickets
for you. Over the next hour. Two Dodgers and Padres
are tied for first in the NL West again. LA
one at San Diego eight to two, as Freddie Freeman
hit two homers, sho hey Otani with his forty fifth homer,
Mooky Bets with three hits. This ends the Pods five
game winning streak. Seattle got two more homers from cal
Raley and beat the A's eleven to four. It was
(28:30):
an eleven to one lead in the third inning. Cal
Rally has forty nine homers, the most ever for a
catcher in one season. The Yankees beat Boston tonight seven
to two, two homers each for Jazz Chisholm and Trent Grisham.
WNBA with three games on the Sunday schedule victories for Seattle,
Golden State, and Minnesota is now thirty and seven, and
(28:50):
they got their all starting a Fista Collier back from
a sprained ankle she'd missed seven games. Tonight, she had
thirty two points in a win over Indiana. Ninety seven
eighty four, and yesk And Clark is still out. She's
missed well over a month with groin and ankle injuries.
Their regular season ends September ninth, not that far away.
She did at least participate in shoot around for the
first time in about a month.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Today, back to you, Thanks Steve, It's Arnie and Playing
Committee live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Todd Furman
is back next hour, so we'll dive into all things
college and pro football with Todd Furman at exactly about
eleven twenty Central twelve, little after midnight. You want to
hit some of these takes on football games overseas in
London real quick?
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Yeah, yeah, where we get a lot of tweets, So
go ahead.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
Just just because we brought up the idea of how
unique it was he had an actual conference game in
the last two years starting the season in college football.
The explosion of the international game in the NFL. Dan
Patrick this week saying that he feels like the NFL
is trending towards the Super Bowl in London, and Arnie
like dying on the hill that it's going to happen
next week.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
That's because the ambassador said that they want to go
ahead and have it to the United States, that they
wanted to have it over there in lond You.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Want to get this right, Yeah, an ambassador for a
country that is all about enriching that country and bringing
more value to it.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Yes, Yes, wants to bring the Super Bowl there. Yes.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Paint is shocked that the ambassador said so.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Well, of course that's what he wanted. He set it
out in public.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
So, Colin Wrights, the NFL will first put a wild
card game in London, the Houston Texans early game variant. Again,
those are home games that ain't happening, mister nobody.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Right, But you know what, wait a bit, wait a minute,
Actually that's not a bad idea. Think about this. You
know how we always argue that a division winner on
the five hundred gets home field advantage or something. So
why do we say, if you're a division winner, you're
supposed to get a home field advantage, you don't get it,
and we'll put you at a neutral site overseas somewhere.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
Well, I mean.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
A week to get it all taken care of.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
I didn't figure it out, but it just kind of
came to me.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
But interesting, I don't think that that's probably not logistically feasible,
mister nobody. There's a very simple reason why the super
Bowl won't go to London. I know there are nuts
who get up at nine am for football games, but
the NFL needs primetime in the US, their main market
for the biggest game of the year. You don't get
the ad revenue, you don't get the ratings for a
(31:16):
super Bowl at nine am in the US because the
Super Bowl is for primetime for fans, for restaurants, package stores,
everyone that is.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
That is a good part. Why what's the time difference?
Speaker 1 (31:25):
I don't even six hour time difference.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
We're ahead six hours.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
No, no, no, no, they're ahead of us six hours.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
Okay, so if we had it at our normal time.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
Should be eleven, Like it's four thirty eight right now
in London, four thirty eight in the morning. Now, granted,
no one's going to be one to play the super
Bowl at ten thirty Central.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Time, So yeah, in at three o'clock, could be nine
o'clock at night in London, that's right.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Okay, Well they'll have to deal with it, I guess
to the players.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
So hey, listen, guys, this whole schedule you've done all
year long long to get ready for the super Bowl.
We're gonna kick it off where your body clock thing.
It's at ten o'clock at night. Okay, so you guys
just go out there and enjoy it. I'm sure there's
some of this, Oh, kick the game off at eleven am.
It's fine, But mister, nobody's onto it. It's a completely
different world tennis data, right, Arenie. There's zero chance the
(32:18):
Super Bowl goes outside of the continental United States. Those
European and Essay games are mostly attended by US expats.
Not everything is a conspiracy. Now, I don't think you're
necessarily saying it's a conspiracy.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
It's not a conspiracy theory. But I mean, just again,
look how many games we're moving over there. It has
gotten out of hand. I bet you. If you ask
our listeners, do we have too many games this year overseas?
I think it'd be like eighty percent would say yes,
we do, maybe more than that, Chris Well.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
And again that's where it goes back to, Okay, where
is the money. Here is the money in what's getting
paid to send him? There is a hit that the
NFL has taken, right, because not all these games are
like nine am starts. A couple of them, you know,
are prime Like the Brazil game is a primetime game.
So I wonder just how much of a difference would
truly make, Like if we didn't tell you that the
(33:10):
Friday night game was in Brazil and you were just
watching it, would you be like, I'm not watching this
because it's in Brazil. Of course not it thinks that way.
Here was one more though on this topic. Ucla Dodger
Frank already is as likely to go overseas to watch
a live sporting event as UCLA is to win the
national championship in football this year.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Yeah, I got UCLA losing the first game, so I'm
thinking against them this year.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
So basically what you're saying is Ucla Dodger Frank would
be right, And.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
Yeah, I like you top minus six in that game too.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
But as far as UCLA being more likely to win
a title than you actually going to see a game,
open and.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
No, yeah, I'm going to a game, and I look
if my wife can go to the US Open and.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Then your straight up the street front. I know.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
But they had really good expensive seats.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
My sister in law got for them, so they were
they were like sitting with the big wigs.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
You know, the THH is supposed to take care of that, right,
the trophy husband.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Yeah, yeah, believe me, the seats I would have gotten
them would not have been half as good as the
seat she got.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
I promise you that. I don't know how we got
on this.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Oh I know because we brought up in the in
the Dan Patrick the Roman numeral number fifteen.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
All right, let's put a check on that, and when
we come.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Back, we'll get a good thorough cleanse through the text
and tweets. Tonight to the program. You can find us
at Stinking Genius one. I'm at playing show. Everyone go
follow us at Fox Sports Radio. And when we come back,
we'll also dive into some of our thoughts in the preseason.
We've got to recap what was supposed to be the
free season. But for the third year in a row,
did you even pick games for Week three?
Speaker 2 (34:40):
Oh? No, it was college football was starting. You've got
to get to the real stuff. I took.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Week three was too tough.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
You didn't know who was playing.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
All right, we'll talk about them more next with Darnt
even playing.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
Right, you're on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
Hey, don't forget to check out Fox Sports Radios YouTube channel.
There's a ton of great videos from many of our
Fox Sports Radio shows. Just search Fox Sports Radio on
YouTube and you'll see a whole bunch of video highlights
from our shows. And be sure to subscribe so you
have instant access to our Fox Sports Radio videos on YouTube.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Yeah, I didn't read that enough yesterday. I was driving yesterday,
I could just kind of move those things off.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
What's that those reads you blew off the reds during
your show?
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Yeah, yesterday, I just kind of forgot to do those.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
I mean, listen, Yeah, driven in a while. Man, maybe
you were just a little bit rusty.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
There on that fronto nos could be Is that.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
The same shift we were filling in the last few weeks.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
Yes, Yes, it's Martin. Why he's taking the longest honeymoon
in the history of mankind?
Speaker 1 (35:45):
I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Is he traveling the world by hot air balloon? I
have no idea how long that guy's been out. It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Well, I mean I understand that, but there's.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
I only took ten days from my honeymoon.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
I mean, there is a point where where you're really
gonna be loved so much as the paycheck. I mean,
I got that. Those kind of vacations, Mike, where did he?
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Do you know where he went?
Speaker 3 (36:09):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
Just talk like an expert about this, right.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
He's in Italy right now. I saw it on his Instagram. Gosh, man,
how you start doing updates around here?
Speaker 2 (36:19):
Why didn't you get married earlier in this summer? That
way it would have made a difference.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Mike pushing the fringe of the start of football season.
I know, Jp Wrights, I have an addition to the
Roman numeral Rundown, Arnie. That story about a bullet hitting
Andy Reid's office fifteen months ago is crazy. I've been
understanding before and there's nothing else around there. But it
wasn't at the stadium.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Right, It was through his office?
Speaker 1 (36:43):
Is his office at the stadium? Was it shot at Arrowhead?
Speaker 3 (36:46):
It was?
Speaker 1 (36:47):
I thought it was a facility.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Was at the facilities?
Speaker 4 (36:49):
And now he actually has bullet proof glass on his
office window? Now, wow, as he should. Honestly, after that.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Would you think of a statement based saying, hey, I'm
I'm here. So it's just was it.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
Just like stray or what? What? Exactly?
Speaker 1 (37:05):
Because he wasn't in the office at the time.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
We don't know, well he was in the office, he was, Yeah,
I read an article about it. Apparently it hit like
it hit the wall fifteen.
Speaker 1 (37:15):
Editioning unit or something. Yeah, there were three shots that
were fired.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
So but Andy Reiden never changed his routine, according to
this story, and it took place right after there. Remember
they had the they had the prey in twenty four
and there was a shooting at the parade right that
kind of I think it actually took someone's life. And
apparently this incident took place following that, and they kind
(37:43):
of kept it under lock and key. But that was
I mean, listen, you you start shooting my office, it's
going to slow things down for me quite a bit
about that.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
How bad I look, I don't want to get you up,
but but how bad are you at your job? When
the head, one of the biggest head coaches in the world,
has a shots fired at him in his office and
you don't even get a wind of the story for
how long? That's that's at least that's crazy. I mean,
(38:13):
do your job. What are you doing for crying out loud?
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Oh you're getting on the reporters on this one.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
Yeah, well, who else am I gonna get on? I
don't I'm not a reporter. I'm not a NFL insider
breaking this story.
Speaker 3 (38:24):
By the way, just before Kansas City people start yelling
at me that practice facility is next to Arrowhead, so
he's right about the area that the practice.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
See.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Whenever I first read the first report of it, I
thought they were when I first read through it, I
thought they were talking about that it took place in
like training camp in his offices, and you're like, no, no, no,
that was literally right in the heart of the off season,
and after midnight there is a bullet heading towards his office.
It's scary stuff, man, it really truly is. But glad
to see, glad to see everything's good. But now I
(38:53):
like how Arny turns this into how you're mad at
the reporters they didn't have this sooner.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
No, I just you gotta wonder how you can keep
that button up for so log that not one person
leak out and not one reporter whose job is it?
Speaker 1 (39:05):
Again?
Speaker 2 (39:05):
Stories like this got the story. It's insane.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
Here's one that I thought was pretty good.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
The dab Crab start with this tonight guys.
Speaker 3 (39:17):
The only thing keeping San Francisco from finishing last in
the NFC West is the Arizona Cardinals. Have you honestly
not seen what's going on right now in San Francisco?
And the Rams are one injury to Matt Stafford, who
is being held together with duct tape away from being
the Arizona Cardinals. You know, dab crab trying to lay
out that he's got the Seahawks is the favorite in
(39:38):
the NFC West.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
I don't think so. You know, it's so funny. I
was talking with Willard iss any teams after the preseason
made you change your mind about the year they're going
to have? And I said, well, maybe San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
Did get beat you up.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
He was like, why would you say that? Why would
you say that? That's my mark Willard impersonation. I know,
I know, but I said, well, one, they got clabbored
by Denver too. They had a tough time against a
bad Vegas team, and you know, it just it doesn't
feel like you know, of course with McCaffrey always getting hurt,
(40:12):
just doesn't feel like you know they're gonna be that
good this year, or you know, they weren't last place
last year, So man, I just crazy. I thought that
would happen there. I think that's gonna happen in San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
They if they're good, they can stay healthy. But that's
been a problem the last couple of seasons.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
But I feel like for some reason, that's more so
the case with NFC West teams than just about anywhere else.
And I know, you know it's a case everywhere it's
like how healthy can we stay? But for some reason,
it feels like the Niners, the Rams, I mean obviously
the Cardinals and maybe even the Seahawks just feel like
they're all I don't know, kind of patchwork right being
(40:52):
held together. It's it might be survival of the fittest.
And who comes away with the NFC West. Is that
one of those that you guaranteed the division winner in
the NFC West? Is that one them that's already over.
Speaker 2 (41:02):
Well, I have my budget. I don't know if that
was one of the guaranteeses or.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
We'll talk about him more next hour. Todd Ferman around
the corner with Auntie Plank on Fox Sports Radio. You're
listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. Here we go, Hour two.
Plank come to you live from the Fox Sports.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
Radio almost got to fire Mary. By the way, why
Mary's unfireable?
Speaker 2 (41:26):
You don't want to know what she said to me
last hour quit lyon No No. She said something that
was Oh my god. If I said it on the air,
she'd be so embarrassed.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
Well, I mean, you've basically you're living on borrow of time.
You've you've lost your job in Betts at least, yeah,
what like six or seven times? So I mean kind
of like a cat. I wonder if you run out
of those lives at something.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
But I'll ride around listen to this. I was talking
just you know, we talked during the break and I said,
did you see what Doug Gottlie posted about his daughter.
I don't know if you saw that on Facebook.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
I did not.
Speaker 2 (42:04):
His daughter is a established rock guitarist, right, and uh,
she was playing. I said, she's playing tonight or this
weekend or when I last weekend? Who knows?
Speaker 4 (42:16):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (42:17):
With Hoody and the Blowfish? And she says, who's Hoody
in the Blowfish? Never heard of it?
Speaker 1 (42:26):
Darius Rocker, never heard of it?
Speaker 2 (42:28):
She said, never heard.
Speaker 1 (42:29):
No, that's a lie.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
I did say.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
I know who that was, I said, I just did
another band.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
Hoody in the Blowfish.
Speaker 1 (42:35):
You never heard of that band?
Speaker 2 (42:37):
And the Dolphins make Me Cry? You never heard that part? No,
and that you never heard that part in the song
and the Dolphins make Me Cry?
Speaker 1 (42:48):
I don't know that I have. I just I wasn't
a really.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
Mister producer. Can you pull that part up where Darius,
which the.
Speaker 3 (42:55):
Song is it from?
Speaker 2 (42:57):
I don't know the name of the song, but he
but he said, and the Dolphins make me cry?
Speaker 1 (43:05):
Do you know any other words in the song?
Speaker 2 (43:06):
Or? No?
Speaker 1 (43:07):
No, what did the.
Speaker 2 (43:09):
Dolphins make Me Cry? By Darius Rutger will come right up?
What's wrong with you? Guys?
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Can't?
Speaker 3 (43:13):
Why can't you do any of this yourself? I'm busy
doing what sitting around your house?
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Look it up.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
I get it that she because the Hoody the Blowfish stunk. Okay,
there I said it. Why they're terrible? What I am
so anti? Because they said they like sports every song
sound damn saying you had a bunch of losers that
were going around following them places.
Speaker 1 (43:39):
It's not grateful, god.
Speaker 3 (43:43):
Freak. And they were terrible because they like sports, because
they sucked up all the sports center guys up on everything.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
I didn't know.
Speaker 3 (43:52):
They only want to be with you.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
Yeah, that's it. Only want to actually do know that song,
but you never know the band.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
Yeah, well not no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
That's every song. I just went ahead idea. Dave Matthews too.
Dave Matthew sucked as well.
Speaker 2 (44:07):
Whether Darius won't come on our show, he only goes out.
Speaker 1 (44:10):
That's pretty much it, right, Darius are pretty tight. He
used to listen to me all the time.
Speaker 3 (44:14):
Three stories that I think the casuals will love in
college football with Arnie and Plank here on Fox Sports Radio.
Now this goes outside the Roman numeral rundowns. So are
you okay with that?
Speaker 2 (44:25):
I said to twenty five, I can't believe you're going outside.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
The How dare I try to go?
Speaker 2 (44:31):
Ahead?
Speaker 5 (44:32):
God?
Speaker 3 (44:32):
I mean basically, there's a lot of crying about the
Dolphins and a lot of crying about Arizona on the rundown.
Speaker 1 (44:38):
So here's number one, and the Dolphins make me cry.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
Arch Manning is not Peyton Manning's son, nor is the
Eli son. But as far as hyped quarterbacks go in
the world of college football, Arnie, I think you'd be
hard pressed to find anyone this side of Chris Simms,
who has been built up and high and talked about
more than Arch Manning has over his last two years.
Speaker 1 (45:05):
Now at Texas entering his third Well, we don't have
to wait very long.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
The very first week, he's got a monster game on
the road, So we'll see how that works out for him, you.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
Know, right, But I mean, are you ready to knee
jerk like crazy based on what you see? Are you
willing to have patience if it doesn't go well?
Speaker 2 (45:22):
Oh no, it'll be knee jerk. Even though it's on
the road at Ohio State and they're what the number
three ranked team, he better put up some good numbers. Man,
he's waited a long time to start. Let's see what
you could do, big boy. It's your turn now.
Speaker 3 (45:33):
So you need him to wow you out of the gates.
You can't just have Oh, the team played pretty well,
made a few mistakes, but they still won the football game.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
You can't I need to be wowed by him.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
Well, he can't be like a shad or Sanders and
get sacked five times. I'll tell you that that's not
going to go in and impress me. If they win
the game, he'll obviously have somewhat of a good game.
I don't think they can win without him having a
good game.
Speaker 3 (45:56):
One of the most talked about quarterbacks honestly that I
think we've ever had leading into a season. And I
don't know if it's just the new age because it's
always in your face. I don't know because it's been
built up this long. I don't know if it's because
of his last name. But I can't ever remember this
much hype around a guy that we've seen a handful
(46:18):
of snaps from what two starts. There wasn't it. When
do you think of any of the quarterbacks that have
won the Heisman? Right right? There wasn't Bryce Young There was.
There was hype whenever he came out of high school,
but he was hype with.
Speaker 1 (46:32):
The Michigan quarterback. But we don't know anything, Arnie. Do
you feel like you're hearing about Bryce Underwood the same
way you're hearing now Arch just with the money, just
when it came through the money.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
That's about it.
Speaker 3 (46:42):
No, it's not even probably that either, based on what
Arch is reportedly making. So that's number one, number two,
regardless of what Arnie wants to tell you about Arizona
being the slam dunk National champion this year. Obviously, there
is a lot of unknown who do you feel confident
about finishing in the top ten of the teams that
are ranked there right now?
Speaker 2 (47:00):
I mean staying and finishing in the top Yeah.
Speaker 1 (47:03):
Like, how do you really?
Speaker 3 (47:04):
I like that? Like? Okay, then what is arch Manning
done to prove that they're worthy of being up there? I?
Speaker 2 (47:10):
Well, you see that's the problem.
Speaker 1 (47:11):
I do think think what if he's not that good?
Speaker 2 (47:14):
I think he is that good.
Speaker 3 (47:15):
Really, did you.
Speaker 1 (47:16):
Say the same thing about Chris Sims because of his
last name?
Speaker 2 (47:19):
No? I did not.
Speaker 3 (47:20):
I'm gonna go pull some old Dallas tape. I'm pretty
sure Chris Simms jock. But I like I like Arch Bending.
Speaker 2 (47:27):
I do think Texas will go ahead and be around
at the end, and I think, act g they beat
Ohio State, so I think that's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (47:35):
What do you like about Ohio in the opening weekend? Okay,
that's fair enough. I think that you can say that
all you want. That's Arnie's predictions, and that's fine. I
don't think you. I don't feel confident about any of
the top twelve in the preseason AP poll or the
Coaches Poll where I'm like, oh yeah, slam Duc, They're
gonna be there in the final four. Whenever it's all
said and done. They might be playoff teams. But Arnie,
(47:57):
if you're a preseason top five team, it's not enough
to just make the playoffs. You gotta win a few games.
You gotta make it to the final four. You got
to make it to the championship game. If Penn State
doesn't get over the hump this year, when will they? Hey,
how much do you know about Julian Saye but been?
Speaker 2 (48:13):
But Ben State doesn't have a tough schedule, do they?
Speaker 3 (48:15):
Who cares? They still have to play Ohio State and
they still have to play a little again.
Speaker 2 (48:19):
Just when you asked how many of these teams will
stick around in the top ten, you gotta take that
into consideration, or are.
Speaker 1 (48:24):
You just talking about overall talent and forget about.
Speaker 3 (48:27):
The pardon me Ohio State. They don't play Michigan. They
have Oregon this year. I can't believe Notre Dame, Penn
State and Michigan aren't playing each other. They get Oregon
at home and they get Ohio State at home. I'm
here to My point is, yeah, there's unknown. Is there
a team that you look at and you say, slam dunk,
they're gonna be in the championship game?
Speaker 2 (48:44):
No, I mean, like I said, I like Texas, but no,
you're right about that. I like Alabama a little bit
this year. You know, I want to see what Tennessee's
gonna do. I thought they'd be a bigger favorite over Ta.
Speaker 3 (48:54):
Let me go through those three. I just mentioned what
do you think about Julian saying? And you completely ignored it,
which makes me wonder if you know who he is?
You brought up Alabama? What do you think of ty Simpson?
And is that who the starter is going to be?
Speaker 1 (49:05):
That's their starting quarterback?
Speaker 2 (49:07):
Right? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (49:07):
Right, I don't know. Seems like under Ryan Grubb and
what Calen de Bor's done, it's pretty quarterback needy offense,
and ty Simpson's been sitting there for a while. You
brought up who else did you just bring up as
a team.
Speaker 2 (49:20):
That you know? Alabama, Tennessee, Tennessee.
Speaker 1 (49:23):
The hell do you know about Joey Aguilar?
Speaker 2 (49:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (49:26):
See, none of us know any I'm not trying to
say to be a jerk, right, but no one really knows, right,
And I'm not here to tell you that if Nico
was there, they would be unstoppable. But at least there'd
be a little bit of consistency, right of a guy
you know that's been there and Tennessee Arnie. They're replacing
a lot this year, Ali graduated a lot last year.
(49:47):
So I think that's why you're not seeing them as
a bigger favor of being talked about too much. Would
you even consider I mean, they were twenty fourth in
the eight people poll, in eighteenth in the coaches poll.
You say you expected to see them a little bit higher.
You'd expect him in that playoff mix?
Speaker 2 (49:58):
Who Alabama, Oh, Tennessee. I thought they'd be a higher
than that, but with the quarterback problem not I shouldn't
say a quarterback problem. Well what the quarterback swap with UCLA.
I should have known they would have dropped a little bit,
so I should have been so high on them. But
I thought they'd be a little bit of a bigger
favorite over Syracuse.
Speaker 3 (50:15):
So Number one arch Manning high, Number two, the unknown
of the top of the college football world.
Speaker 1 (50:20):
It's it's as wide open.
Speaker 3 (50:22):
Usually you come and you're like, Wow, it's either gonna
be Clemson or Alabama or Georgia. Alabama and Georgia are
breaking in new quarterbacks. The quarterbacks that are returning as
starters haven't necessarily jaw dropped us. You know, they've got
some things they Kate Klubnick, the same guy that beat
SMU in the ACC title game is the guy that
got throttled in the season opener last year by Georgia.
(50:43):
You know everyone Garrett Nussmyer has had his woes throughout
the season. So I just I feel like it's unknown
which gets me to number three new quarterbacks in new
places this year is fascinating, absolutely fascinating. And obviously Arch
being the starting quarterback at Texas is one I mentioned.
Ty Simpson I brought up, you know, Joey Aguilar at
(51:04):
Tennessee and Julian Sane at Ohio State. But Jeoh Mattier
at Oklahoma. I think it's gonna be a guy that
a lot of people be talking about after week two
or three of the season. Bryce Underwood, who just got
named the starter at Michigan. I mean, you look across
the top twenty five.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
They have an easy first game too. They you have
a cruise at first game Michigan.
Speaker 3 (51:23):
I believe Yeah, they open up the season and they
play Oklahoma two. They got in New Mexico in Week one. Yeah,
But I mean there is just so much new at
the quarterback position. I mean, you look at the top ten.
What do we do this last week? Seven of the
top ten teams have new starting quarterbacks?
Speaker 2 (51:38):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (51:39):
This season? May you go like eleven through twenty and
I think eleven or fifteen of those next ten teams
don't have returning starting quarterback. I mean, Arnie, it's wild
the turnover at quarterback. And I'll add a fourth one
for you real quick, right before Todd joins it. Here's
the fourth one. Does nil continue to become a problem
(51:59):
or do we have it under control? And but that
I mean, you know, we're just a year removed from
a UNLV quarterback basically saying I'm out I didn't get
paid to what I was promised.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
Well, Nico also going to UCLA. Wasn't that part of
the NILD allegedly right? Allegedly?
Speaker 3 (52:13):
I mean I think that it's fair, maybe even to
take the allegedly off of it. But does that carry
over into the season. But you have it in house
and you have rev shared it has become a problem.
Whenever someone thinks they're not getting as much of a
percentage and as much of a paid answer teammate, how
slot it does it become. I think it's going to
be an interesting thing to follow to see what it
does to locker rooms. And one more thing on it, Arnie. Yeah,
(52:35):
big ten media days, Mike Loxley came out and said
I lost my locker room to nil And I'm paraphrasing,
but it's exactly what he said. And I know Maryland sucks,
but that could happen anywhere right now where there's hype
and there's talked about players.
Speaker 2 (52:49):
Yeah, but it is for the nil money. I haven't
heard any big stories about like players saying I was
promised this, I didn't get it.
Speaker 1 (52:56):
Yeah, I'm leaving.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
We've heard a few of them, like you mentioned UNLV,
but overall that's just like like less than one percent.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
Maybe you're not hearing about him.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
Well you can go ahead and put arny math to that,
but I'm willing to bet there's a lot of them
that aren't public that that's just you see a guy
in the portal's like, wow, why is he in the portal? Well,
maybe he's not delivering or maybe be he's not being delivered.
Speaker 2 (53:16):
Too, could be, but we haven't seen a lot.
Speaker 1 (53:20):
I'm telling you, is that's exactly what's happening out there.
Speaker 2 (53:23):
No, but just a lot of people saying I didn't
get my money. We saw with Nico coming out and
when he didn't come out and say it, But we
know what that story was about.
Speaker 3 (53:30):
He wanted a new So my point, more than anything else,
is just how is it going to end up affecting
the game, if at all? Once we kick it off,
you know, does it become an issue like I did
at times last year? Do we then are we going
to continue throughout this season? Have oh on his White
Night Cody Campbell tell us how we need to fix
college football while he's cheating the system like crazy right now,
(53:52):
bless your heart, there's no rules and he's still taking
advantage of him. Like, are they going to continue to
try to fix this or does it get ignored? Dari
the season? The portal thenil the actual salary cap ort?
Is it just to get ignored Arnie while we're in
the season, It's like, I'll figure it's out in the
off season.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
Well, we talked about.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
This and what was it twenty million dollars. That starts
things off. Can you afford to pay all these big
star recruits? Can Does it get to the point where
you're like, we can't afford to pay everybody, so we're
gonna have to lose some of them. That kind of
evens out the playing surface just is say what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
Can your I think can you can your money? Because
there's two different worlds we're talking about now, and this
is nerd but here we go. There's the revshare world,
the twenty twenty one million dollars we've spread across other sports,
mostly to football, and then there's the nil world. And
the nil world has already changed because at first it
was just gotta be for a good business reason, right Arnie.
(54:47):
Then literally a month in two they're like, no, it
doesn't have to be for a business reason. It's just
got to be a reasonable amount of money, which I
don't know how they can approve, how they can prove
either way or not. So it's still, in my opinion,
an absolute s show, and we're not any closer to
getting in under control.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
We're worried about how many teams we're gonna get in
the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (55:07):
Right, now that's still don't know what it's gonna look.
Speaker 3 (55:09):
Like next year.
Speaker 2 (55:10):
No, we don't.
Speaker 1 (55:10):
Here we're starting at college football.
Speaker 3 (55:12):
He's a guy. We're starting a college football season, and
thank god we are. But as we started, we don't
know what the playoffs are gonna look like next year.
There's no true rules on the portal. There's still two windows.
We don't know what the rev share looks like because
they're still hold up hold ups in court over back pay.
And I guess maybe the most important part of all
(55:34):
of this is we still don't know what's considered to
be real and not allowable in the world of nil, right,
I mean you had you had that guy on from
Texas Tech. That's right. I got my man a guaranteed
five million dollar deal over three years, and we found
out Garally, Yeah, we found out twenty four hours later.
It's like, no, it's it's it's not guaranteed and it's
(55:54):
not that much money. So it's just I don't know
what to believe anymore in it. But Arnie, I'm excited
that the games are year, so hopefully those stories take
a back seat.
Speaker 2 (56:02):
Are you sure you're excited? I just want to double
ja you're sure you're excited.
Speaker 1 (56:05):
I'm pumped, man, How can you not be?
Speaker 3 (56:07):
For the start?
Speaker 2 (56:07):
Well, I just I didn't know if you noticed that, Oh,
Gahoben plays Illinois State in their opener. I didn't know
you were.
Speaker 3 (56:12):
Oh. I know we'll probably lose, but you know what,
I don't care. Football will be here.
Speaker 1 (56:16):
Jesus, you're thirty five point favorite.
Speaker 2 (56:19):
You know, UNLV was a thirty point favorite in their
game when they won thirty eight thirty one over Idaho State.
Speaker 1 (56:27):
They did not look all that great though.
Speaker 3 (56:29):
They're learning a whole new offense too, so I don't
think that's really easy as well. All right, we got
a break. When we come back, Todd Furman will help
us sort through all the madness of what we take
away from the preseason, what applies itself to the regular season,
and some early reaction from the college football Week zero.
Todd Furman's next right here on Fox Sports Radio at
Attorney in playing Company Alive for the Fox Sports Radio Studios.
(56:52):
We got Todd in ready to roll. He's ready, the man,
the mit, the legend. Todd Furman joined us back after
Week zero. Todd, we got to get the fields figured
out over there, for these It hurt Florida and I
know they didn't have the turnovers last year in Florida
State Georgia Tech, but man, that was I don't know.
Maybe I'm just looking for anything to blame for Kansas
State not winning and covering, but I just felt like
(57:15):
it was a little bit of a sloppy mess on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (57:17):
What else can you expect though, from week zero?
Speaker 9 (57:18):
Right, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 7 (57:20):
No.
Speaker 9 (57:20):
Preseason, you know they're going to inevitably be some growing pains,
especially when teams are playing a high leverage conference game
right out of the gates. As you mentioned, a little
bit of unfamiliar surroundings, a lot wetter and sloppier than
what these teams have grown accustomed to in camp, and
kind of have to anticipate a little bit of that
In Dublin. I don't think anybody thought the rain was
going to be as heavy as it was. But the
great equalizer is that both teams are out there on
(57:42):
the same field, playing in the same conditions, and apparently
Farmageddon much more enjoyable from a point scoring standpoint played
in about sixty two feet of snow and played in
a little bit of rain that dampened at least the opener,
especially if you were a Kansas State fan.
Speaker 2 (57:56):
Todd, I don't know if you heard this. I'm not
going to move to Connecticut anymore. I'm going to move
to Las Vegas and become a professional gambler because some
of your gambling buddies they just don't know what the
hell they're doing. Man, you know, no offense, Todd. You're
costing me millions of dollars. I want you to know that,
millions of dollars. You know I'm a math guy, right,
I'm a I'm a maths going well, I'm a math guy.
(58:17):
I'm an mit guy. So I want you to understand this, Todd.
When I say this, if you would have told me
bety under and the Dolphin season win total eight and
a half. Right, So I say, fine, Todd knows what
he's talking about.
Speaker 1 (58:30):
Bet the under.
Speaker 2 (58:31):
So I bet a million dollars on the under. Well,
then the Dolphin win total drop down the seven and
a half. Now I bet a million dollars on the
over seven and a half. Now if it hits eight,
I get a free two million dollars. Why are you
not doing this? I don't understand this that it's are
you rich. You don't need that type of money. I
don't understand what's going on, Todd.
Speaker 9 (58:51):
Well, see Arnie, this is how it works. First off,
getting down a million dollars on wind total there's a
lot more difficult than you make it sound. So let's
throw a pin in that particular at pick to your plan,
but to your point, arbitrage and looking to play middles
is definitely what professional betters will do when they're able
to get ahead of it, assuming there's enough liquidity in
the market, and whether it's with a regular season win
total around your beloved Dolphins a G five team in
(59:13):
college football, we're finding a way to middle a preseason
game like we saw over the weekon the Cleveland Browns
open as a one and a half point favorite, get
bet out to ten, and all it takes is a
late field goal for the game to fall to The
early bird gets the worm, the folks that came in
late on the other side are able to capitalize. And
then again, there are other examples of that, whereas if
you don't take the best of the number and you
find yourself on the wrong side of a late game
(59:35):
situation in Kansas City and Chicago, that all those plans
end up going up in smoke.
Speaker 2 (59:41):
But it is so easy, is it? It's right, so easy,
It's so easy, yeah, Todd.
Speaker 9 (59:48):
Yeah, so it's exactly right, Chris, so easy that what
is it? Even a caveman can do it?
Speaker 3 (59:54):
Guy, going all of this, well done, well done, Todd. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (59:58):
I don't think there's a such thing as so easy, Arnie.
Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
I don't know why when you middle it, it's a
free bet though that Todd will tell you that that's.
Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
If you middle it. Is it a free bet?
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
Todd?
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Yes, I mean yeah, there.
Speaker 9 (01:00:08):
Are there are ways to try and do it.
Speaker 5 (01:00:09):
Now.
Speaker 9 (01:00:09):
What Arnie fails to leave out of this argument here,
which is always fascinating, is it depends when your time
in your market entry, and that sometimes, Arnie, those lines
can move against you. So if you have a million
dollars in exposure and you happen to bet the wrong
way when that number opens, then you find yourself on
the wrong side of the leisure with seven figure liability
that I'm sure your wife and your lovely offspring would
(01:00:30):
not want you to be on the hook for it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
Yes, you are right about that. I didn't bring that
part up. If the life goes against you, I didn't
bring that far fail that.
Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
You could lose.
Speaker 9 (01:00:39):
You only get half the story here, I mean already
apparently Flank was not a big fan of Paul Harvey
and the rest of the story.
Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Now you have the rest of the story. Did you
take much away from any of the games Saturday? I
don't meant NFL yet. I'm talking to college games with
you and LV struggling a bit, Kansas looking good.
Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
Why are you finding a way anything that you really
took away.
Speaker 9 (01:00:59):
I think Kansas will little bit more buttoned up in
their openers than the betting market would lead you to believe.
That game was a battle. Right around that two touchdown threshold,
Kansas was able to build a comfortable lead and kind
of put it into cruise control in the second half.
But it's great refreshing for any college football fan to
see a healthy Jalen Daniels out there and know how
dynamic and explosive he can be as a dual threat.
I will hope he's able to log a full twelve
(01:01:20):
games and what will be his final college football season
at least, I assume maybe he's got another three or
four years in him. And you mentioned UNLV that defense
was downright import it in its debut against FCS member
Idaho State. So the Rebels are going to have to
go back to the drawing board. Dan mull will have
to scheme some things up. We'll see if they're a
little bit more buttoned up for their trip this coming
weekend to take on Sam Houston State before they get
(01:01:43):
a big game against a Power four opponent in their
own building and allegiance when the UCLA Bruins come here
in September sixth.
Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
Todd, I don't know if you're watching the Iowa State
Kansas State game, but they gave a stat out that's
saying when these two teams, when teams play in Doublin,
then they go back home, they lose. I mean they
lose a lot the whole stat but you know, going
back there it takes its toll for the next week
or two. Did you see the stat and are you
do you automatically bet against Kansas State and Iowa State?
Speaker 9 (01:02:10):
Like I always tell you, Arnie, it's all about the number.
And you know, Kansas State and Iowa State no dummies
when it comes to establishing their schedule. Neither will play
a team at the FBS level. Iowa State will get
South Dakota at home, and Ames and Matt Campbell didn't
mince work saying that that's going to judge our metal
as much as anything else. And they're in the unenviable
sandwich spot that not only do they play South Dakota
when they get home, not South Dakota State, so there
(01:02:32):
is a little bit of a difference there, but they
play their biggest in state rival the following leak against Iowa,
so it is a sandwich spot there. And for Kansas State,
they'll play another program from the Dakota in North Dakota,
not North Dakota State for those folks scoring at home.
But the nice luxury they have there is that they
get a non conference game i albeit against a team
difficult to prepare for an army, So definitely potential for
(01:02:54):
flat spots there. But who knows, Arnie, maybe Kansas State
struggles out of the gates will benefit your beloved Wildcat.
When Kansas State has to go to Tucson on a
short week to take on an Arizona sever.
Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
Bet Arizona against Hawaii, that line already jumped from thirteen
and a half to what fifteen and a half sixteen And.
Speaker 9 (01:03:11):
When you're telling me to bet after the numbers already moved.
I really appreciate that. But that's why I do what
I do, Arnie, and you do what you do. Yes,
I did lay a little bit of thirteen and a
half early when I watched Hawhi and Mike Alohado get
banged up. I'm not so sure i'd be running to
the window. A'll lay sixteen and a half with Arizona.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
But but why though, just because it goes up a
few points? What are you so smart for what or
two points?
Speaker 9 (01:03:31):
I don't understand that every team has a price, Arnie,
and I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but
every point has a numerical value attributed to it. So yes,
there is going to be a long term difference if
you're laying thirteen and a half in a game versus
laying sixteen and a half. While all those games may
not fall high, it changes you cond mid a half.
From a fundamental standpoint, you could middle the game.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
That's a good number to middle. Get that fourteen right?
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
You could middle, I could middle.
Speaker 9 (01:03:56):
I can also wait it out see if it climbs
a little bit higher to seventeen or feel calm roll
with my position, thinking that Arizona's poised for a bounce
back season, could be a little bit of a sleeper
in the Big twelve, and maybe Why's quarterback won't be
one hundred percent given how he was rolled up on
by that Stanford defense.
Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
I'm telling you there you go.
Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
You're telling me, thanks Arnie, hey from me, Todd. Is
there anything that you're going to carry over from the
preseason which was the pre season for two weeks until
Arnie's pick stump, But anything you're going to carry over
from the preseason, I mean.
Speaker 9 (01:04:29):
Look playing because this is a segment that Arnie has
decided to hijack from the two experts.
Speaker 2 (01:04:33):
That's here.
Speaker 9 (01:04:34):
We'll come full circle here with six degrees a span
your separation. It'll be with the Miami Dolphins in their backfield.
I think when you look at Devin ah Chan, who's
dealing with a little bit of a soft tissue injury,
we saw Jalen Wright be ineffective. Suddenly. For those folks
who watched Big twelve football and expected a lot more
out of Oli Gordon in his final season in still Water,
he looked to show flashes of potentially being an RB
(01:04:56):
one or a good guy to have as part of
a time share. So I think Ollie Gordon would be
a guy that could really emerge and play a role
in what could be a potentially high powered Dolphins offense.
I'll be it behind a makeshift offensive line and one
that's going to have to go out there scoring in bunches,
giving some of the defensive frailty they have on that
stop unit.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Tod, what's somebody to sign on Texas? Ohio State? Are
you going to stay away from it and just enjoy
the game or are you like that game?
Speaker 5 (01:05:20):
No?
Speaker 9 (01:05:21):
I won't be anywhere near it. We have seen a
little bit of money come in on Texas. The threes
that were out there early in the summer have kind
of turned into prevailing one and a half and two.
For me to get involved, I would be intrigued if
Ohio State actually moved to a short home underdog. I
think people that are bullish and optimistic about Texas I
can understand, but we still haven't seen arch manning against
the defense of this caliber, even one that's rebuilding with
(01:05:43):
a new offensive and defensive coordinator like the Buckeyes have.
But this program not a slouch by any stretch. What
I will say, though, is we've also seen a very
sharp and respected move on the total. Fifty and a
half is where this number opened. We're now down to
forty eight. Should be a fun game to watch, but
I'm not sure right now. As the market shits, it's
gonna have a whole lot of upside or betting opportunity,
(01:06:03):
at least for me personally.
Speaker 5 (01:06:05):
Eight.
Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
Well, all right, hey Todd, it's back baby, have a
great week. We always appreciate your time and look forward
to recapping the first full week of college football next
Sunday Night.
Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
Bet the Dolphins Week one. Bet the Dolphins in Week one,
you got it.
Speaker 9 (01:06:16):
Always a pleasure and playing nobody fought you could pull
the court on already and said he wasn't able to
get a connection for the rest of the night.
Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
Yeah, I'd be fine with it, all right, Thanks Todd,
appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (01:06:26):
Here come Steve de Sega rolling into the Fox Sports
radio studios. With everything trending in the world of sports,
we're all a final now too, right.
Speaker 8 (01:06:32):
Absolutely, Yankees won the Sunday night ball game against Boston.
You were talking college football. Most teams open the season
this next weekend. There is the Friday night game on
Fox TV Auburn at Baylor, and number one Texas plays
at number three Ohio State this Saturday, already on Fox TV,
with a UCLA home game against Utah late that night.
But Texas is number one in AP's preseason college football poll,
(01:06:56):
barely ahead of number two Penn State. In the coaches poll,
Texas Ohio State are one two. They'll be on the
Big Noon kickoff on Fox Noon Eastern Time, August thirtieth,
which is already this coming weekend. Ohio State three in AP. Amazingly,
Texas had never started the year number one in the
AP poll. The Longhorns were preseason number two five times.
(01:07:17):
Buckeyes are in the preseason top five for a ninth
straight year. Now Ohio State after this home game this
coming weekend will face Grambling, Ohio, U Washington, and Minnesota.
Texas after the opener on the road will be having
home games against San Jose State, UTEP and Sam Houston Geez.
(01:07:38):
Tommy Fleetwood won the PGA's Tour Championship yearns the first
place check of ten million dollars in Atlanta today. Patrick
Cantley was tied for the lead to start the day,
but finished three Strokes back tied for second with fellow
American Russell Henley. Scotty Scheffler was four back, tied for
fourth place. He did get his fourteenth straight top ten
(01:07:59):
finish that ties for the longest set streak in the
last fifteen years. Jack Nicholas apparently did that nineteen seventy seven,
but there still hasn't been a repeat FedEx Cup champ
since that series began almost twenty years ago. For Fleetwood,
his first victory on the PGA Tour in his one
hundred and sixty fourth career start on tour over here
now Europe. He's won seven times three other times around
(01:08:21):
the world, but his thirty top five finishes without a
victory here were the most on the PGA Tour in
the past hundred years. But this is a guy had
had over thirty three million dollars in career earnings. Finally
cashed in in a big way today and the liv
Golf season ended with a team championship in Michigan, won
(01:08:42):
by John Rom's team. Like he needs the money, he
already won the individual points title again that last week,
and that came with a bonus of eighteen million dollars.
The Minnesota Vikings site exactly. Minnesota Vikings signed veteran quarterback
Carson Wentz. Minnesota traded quarterback Sam All of Philadelphia Raiders
backup QB eight and O'Connell will miss six to eight
(01:09:04):
weeks with a broken wrist. The Pittsburgh Pirates shut out
Colorado for nothing today. Winning pitcher Paul skeens seven innings,
seven strikeouts. His ERA is two point ZHO seven, but
he's on the Pirates, so he has a losing record
of eight and nine. These Pirates have won four straight.
The Rockies have lost four in a row and are
mathematically eliminated from the playoff Chicks. Wow, Thirty seven and
(01:09:27):
ninety four is the record exactly. If you look at
some of the other divisions like AL West first place
Houston seventy two wins last plays as seventy two losses.
The teams that are in the NL West seventy four wins.
For the first place Clubs Rockies have ninety four losses.
This is just astoundingly bad. And there's no end in set. Well,
(01:09:51):
the end of the schedule that's the other side.
Speaker 3 (01:09:53):
But at the end of the season, I.
Speaker 8 (01:09:54):
Mean, if you look at there are only two teams
in all of the major leagues that have been out
scored by more than one hundred runs. So far this year,
the Rockies have been outscored by about three hundred and
fifty runs already this year. They're on pace for the
all time record in that department. I mean, the A's
at Oakland were truly horrendous a couple of years ago.
(01:10:15):
They've already passed the A's by how many runs they've
given up compared to how many they have scored.
Speaker 2 (01:10:22):
Did you make money if you bet against them every game?
Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
Though? How could you not?
Speaker 8 (01:10:25):
They're going to lose one hundred games maybe by the
end of August.
Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
Yeah, but the odds, the odds are just so against you. Yeah,
but think of there. You know, usually in a run
line where you lay like a half a run or
run and a half with them, you'd have to lay
like two and a half or three and a half
runs in that one.
Speaker 8 (01:10:41):
No, I don't take three in it. That sounds quite extreme.
Speaker 1 (01:10:43):
No, I'm serious. Some people look at.
Speaker 8 (01:10:45):
Odds and say, oh, I just want once what's pays
the more. What you should want is what wins.
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:10:51):
I mean this is in baseball.
Speaker 8 (01:10:53):
This is the most opposite thing to a sure thing, right,
It's it's not the winning, it's just you're almost sure
they're losing.
Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
Other shirt thing like that, Plank, another shirt.
Speaker 1 (01:11:02):
Thing, another automatic thing.
Speaker 8 (01:11:04):
Dodgers one eight two at San Diego Show. Hey, Otani
is forty fifth homers, Seattle beat the A's eleven to four,
two homers for cal Rawley. He has forty nine, most
ever for a catcher, and the Yankees beat Boston seven
to tonight s back to you, there you.
Speaker 3 (01:11:17):
Go, Thanks Steve as We're coming to you lot tonight
from the Fox Sports Radio studios with Arnie and Plank.
Speaker 1 (01:11:23):
Oh, it's game week, it's game week.
Speaker 3 (01:11:25):
But next week's gonna be another level too, right because
next week we say game week and then we'll have
the NFL on Thursday.
Speaker 1 (01:11:31):
Got that Cowboys Eagles game to get things started.
Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
Oh, that's gonna be so great. That's gonna be awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
Has someone thrown out that tweet?
Speaker 3 (01:11:38):
Yet? We've had our last Thursday without football until like
February or not?
Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
Yeah Sunday not yeah, yeah no not yet?
Speaker 4 (01:11:45):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:11:45):
Eric writes, I don't think Vegas will allow Arnie to
say that pick doesn't count. Give me my money back,
like he said on Kansas State Iowa State.
Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
Well, sometimes they do, like if the game doesn't go
fifty five minutes or something crazy he happens, Vegas will
give you back their money.
Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
No, no, I don't think that's how it works.
Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
That thought you that happens sometimes win. I can't remember
off the top of my head, but I'll think of something.
Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
Do you realize the integrity of your picks get shot
to you know what?
Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
No, I didn't gave out one.
Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
I gave out one and I put one on Twitter
by accident went on the other side bags. I think
it was I was watching somebody give out Kansas State
and now I must have just pad that my mind
or something.
Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
Okay, I thought when you were over too, would the
over not matter?
Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
That was the That was like a practice test, Chris.
All right. That's you know when you first get to
school and the teacher goes, all right, we're gonna give
a quiz. It's not gonna count. Just want to see
where everybody is from the summer, if you did any
reading or any.
Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
Anything like that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:50):
So you take the quiz, but it doesn't count, you
know what I mean? Same thing.
Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
I don't think that's the case here.
Speaker 3 (01:12:56):
But what I like I said earlier, whatever you need
to do to make yourself feel better, you got to
fill that one out.
Speaker 1 (01:13:01):
It was raining, the guy got hurt right off the bat.
Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
It was a bad game.
Speaker 3 (01:13:04):
Again, that's not how it works in gambling.
Speaker 1 (01:13:07):
But okay, Johnny asks a good question.
Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
Yeah, I wonder what percentage of the released players Tuesday
will end up in the USFL.
Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
I would say it's a pretty high percentage, right.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
I'm guessing a lot of them would want to go
ahead and play over there. I would think so over
there that US I mean, yeah, I've just playing you
as a bell.
Speaker 3 (01:13:25):
Right, I mean I would think so. Yeah, it's a
different time of the year. I don't what's going on
with the USFL. I heard there's going to be a
lot of changes this year. I heard there's a rumor
that Oklahoma might even get a team. If you heard that, well,
what am I saying? If you heard it, I'll throw
a thing tweet out there, and you would have actually
accepted it Israel, So no, of course you haven't heard it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
I'll tell you what US What did I say?
Speaker 3 (01:13:49):
US? Oh, that's a UFL, it' said a USFL it's
right because it's combined now. So I don't know, dude,
I I hate Tuesday because so many dudes that And
I know you don't care because you only care about
the stars, but so many guys like the dream comes
to an end on Tuesday. You know, there used to
be that first round of cuts, and those guys that
were cut first, it was kind of all right, they're
(01:14:12):
not gonna make the team. But now, I mean, holy
smokes man, you might be. You might have a chance
to still play because the cuts are later, but.
Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
You get cut early already.
Speaker 3 (01:14:24):
Pretty much ballgame for mate, especially for some of the
older veterans too. Even though quarterback backup quarterbacks are dropping
like flies right now.
Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
Yeah, but there's always room for backup quarterbacks if you're
good enough, you know what I mean. They always need
a backup quarterback everyone the way they drop like flies.
Speaker 3 (01:14:38):
Yeah, all right, anyway, thanks to the update, Steve, We
got more of your tweets coming up. When we come back,
the saga is gonna go all in on the Days
and news. Plus we got Arnie's picks and our predictions
for the NFL season. I mean, heck, I mean, no
one's doing predictions around Here'll break the mold and bring
you picks coming up right here on Fox Sports Radio.
(01:15:00):
Here you go, Mary well May Every song sounds the same,
every one of them. Audio a hater. I've always been
a hater. This is not anything new. Steve the Seger
comes rolling in with this reminder that with the iHeart
Radio app, you can stream us wherever you happen to be.
In fact, I was in New York this weekend listening
(01:15:22):
on the iHeart Radio app. Catch us in all of
our Fox Sports Radio shows live twenty four to seven.
In the new and improved iHeart Radio apps, you search
Fox Sports Radio and the app stream is.
Speaker 1 (01:15:31):
Live all day.
Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
See make me cry right there and be sure.
Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
Just like Fox Sports Radio as one of your presets
in the iHeart app, so it will always pop up
on the top of your screen. What's up, Steve?
Speaker 8 (01:15:42):
When I used to cover NHL years ago, and that
song would be played like when there was a break,
not between periods, like a break before a.
Speaker 3 (01:15:48):
Face off or set.
Speaker 8 (01:15:50):
Everybody in the crowd felt better, the whole arena was
happier one hundred percent of the time. That was an
enormous song in its day. By the way, As far
as where is the UFL for next spring, They're still
due to have the league. They're still due to have
eight teams. Columbus, Ohio is due to get a football
team playing in the soccer stadium the MLS stadium they
(01:16:11):
have there, but the UFL is due to move maybe Memphis,
maybe Michigan and some reorganization, but eight total teams still now.
We had a UFL MVP of the past get cut
quarterback Adrian Martinez waved by the Jets today. The Rams
cut quarterback Dresser Win who played yesterday. The NFL's cut
(01:16:32):
down deadline is Tuesday afternoon to get the rosters down
to fifty three and then the waiver claims began. The
preseason ended last night.
Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
Do they have to be cut before they can go
on the squad or you can just put them directly
on the practice squad.
Speaker 8 (01:16:44):
No, if you're what if you're not under contract, so
I assume you could go anywhere. It's not like old
time baseball from sixty years ago, where they just own
you in perpetuity. As far as Dallas, they open at
Philadelphia Thursday, September force. That's the league's regular season. Oh,
Dallas Cowboys, making news today is defensive back Trayvon Diggs,
after knee surgery last January, was placed on the active
(01:17:07):
roster after passing his physical. The Cowboys are reportedly cutting
veteran offensive lineman Lyle Collins. San Francisco formerly acquired running
back Brian Robinson from Washington. He passed his physical. He's
finishing the rookie contract this year. And by the way,
UFL MVP from this spring, Bryce Perkins played in Carolina
(01:17:27):
over the weekend, played the second half ten of eleven,
passing seventy one yards. He played because backup quarterback for
the Panthers Andy Dalton did not play strained elbow.
Speaker 3 (01:17:37):
The problem.
Speaker 8 (01:17:37):
Carolina, for what it's worth, zero to three in the preseason,
lost at home to Pittsburgh, and no Aaron Rodgers did
not play again for the Steelers. As for that game,
By the way, eight total kickoffs, only one into the
end zone. We had the new rules, touchback would come
out to the thirty five.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
That's why more games are gonna go over. We're gonna
have more runbacks.
Speaker 8 (01:17:56):
That's why assuming the kickoff goes into the end zone,
then it's a touchback of it rolls in, you know,
that's a different thing. The Giants had rookie Jackson Dart
impressing their fans again with an early touchdown pass and
the win against New England. He did clear concussion protocol,
took that hit on a twenty three yard run. It
was fourteen ten Giants at the half, forty two to
ten the final because Tommy DeVito had three touchdown passes
(01:18:19):
in the second half and nearly two hundred yards through
the air. As far as other news from quarterbacks today,
the Raiders backup QB eight and O'Connell was hurt this week.
In fact, that was the last game of the preseason
last night for the whole league. He's gonna miss six
to eight weeks with a broken wrist.
Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
The same how great would it be if Tom Brady said,
I'm coming out of retirement, gonnais sidelines.
Speaker 8 (01:18:43):
Sure people will be channing for sixty minutes every game.
The Saints are due to name their starting quarterback this week,
Spencer Rattler or Tyler Shuck. The Browns released quarterback Tyler Huntley.
They might be carrying four quarterbacks this year, including both rookies.
We'll see Tampa Bay Wave safety Shiloh Sanders who got
kicked out of last night's exhibition. Minnesota traded quarterback Sam
(01:19:05):
Howell to Philadelphia. The Eagles cut quarterback Dorian Thompson Robinson,
Philadelphia backup QB Tanner McKee has broken thumb but will
not go on injury reserve, and the Vikings signed veteran
quarterback Carson Wentz and cut quarterback Brett Rippin. Didn't mention
NASCAR tonight because they were at Daytona last night, winning
a close four hundred Ryan Blaney and with no new
(01:19:26):
NASCAR winner in that one, Tyler Reddick and Alex Bowman
transferred into the playoffs on points. As far as IndyCars season,
it ends next Sunday at Nashville, one race left. It'll
be on Fox TV again, as was the race at
Milwaukee today. The IndyCar winner today Christian Rasmus in his
first victory in the series. Alex Poalow finished second, and
(01:19:47):
I must mention that we did have a little history
in baseball today. The two homers for cal Raley give
him forty nine, most ever for a catcher in one season.
Seattle was up eleven to one in the third eleven
four the final over the A's and the winning pitcher,
Logan Gilbert six innings, one run allowed, thirteen strikeouts. The
Dodgers are apparently done facing the Padres for the regular season.
(01:20:10):
Kind of miss it actually, with the excitement they've given
over the last few years. Dodgers had no offense in
San Diego Friday or Saturday, and then one long ball
after another there today, two homers for Freddy Freeman show
hey Otani with his forty fifth home run of the season.
He was and then gave a little pat on the
back to the Heckler on the way to the dugout
(01:20:33):
Mookie Bets with three hits, eight to the final, ending
the Padres five game winning streak, the win to Yoshinobu
Yamamoto six innings, six strikeouts.
Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
And what about the Mets.
Speaker 8 (01:20:44):
They're going to be hosting the Phillies starting Monday night
a three game series. Mets lost at Atlanta four to
three today, while the Phillies were winners three to two
over Washington and the win to Ranger Suarez seven scoreless innings,
eleven strikeouts. Kind of quietly nationally have a good season.
Looking forward to seeing the Phillies in the playoffs. That
seems like a guarantee at this point.
Speaker 3 (01:21:06):
Yep, good stuff. Steve.
Speaker 2 (01:21:07):
All right, thanks Steve.
Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
Football us upon us when we come back to the
Fox Sports Radio studios. Let's get some picks out here. Plus,
there's a lot of work done on the rowan numeral
Rundown really haven't started checking off the to do list.
We'll do next with Arnie and Plank on a Fox
Sports Sundays. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio Power Hour,
Stink Power Hour.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
How the way, I want to say something, Willard, and
I think our producer Ian were your producer last night.
Speaker 3 (01:21:38):
Ian, I was actually and that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:21:41):
You know my name?
Speaker 7 (01:21:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:21:42):
Oh, because you told me something so stupid last night.
Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
Oh wow.
Speaker 2 (01:21:46):
They tried to convince me that Saquon Barkley was gonna
have a bad year this year. What Yeah, you didn't
say that when I said who should I take with
my third pickover all in the fantasy draft, You're like,
Saint Quad Barker got too many carries last year.
Speaker 4 (01:22:01):
There's gonna be there's such a massive gap between having
a bad year and being the number three pick in fantasy.
All we were saying is Saquon had four hundred plus
carries last year, So you should be a little worried
about me.
Speaker 3 (01:22:15):
You've got to understand him or something real quick, and
you can't give just an even slightly. Hey man, I
know what am I saying? Trying to give logic? Yeah,
because oh so what you're saying is just going to
be terrible. So I guess it's just not worth that. Barkley.
I guess he's going to be the worst running back
in the NFL. But what we're saying is, dude, he ran.
Speaker 2 (01:22:33):
Them a lot last What kind of idiot would pass
up on Saquon Barkley at number three? I mean really,
I see it at like five six, they're taking jamiro
He would have been over over interesting.
Speaker 4 (01:22:49):
If Bijeon's there, if Justin Jefferson Jamar Chase is there,
I'd take them. I'd probably take McCaffrey, but you know, McCaffrey,
there's a conversation to be That's why you don't win
fantasy football.
Speaker 1 (01:23:00):
I think he actually won his league last year.
Speaker 2 (01:23:02):
Did you last year?
Speaker 1 (01:23:04):
How did you do in yours?
Speaker 5 (01:23:05):
Army?
Speaker 2 (01:23:06):
I won my last year?
Speaker 1 (01:23:07):
No, you did?
Speaker 3 (01:23:07):
Yes, I did?
Speaker 1 (01:23:08):
I did.
Speaker 2 (01:23:08):
I won it last year?
Speaker 3 (01:23:10):
When what league?
Speaker 2 (01:23:11):
I played with a bunch of guys from my old network.
Speaker 3 (01:23:13):
Listen, I'm gonna call BS on that, because if you
had won a fantasy league, it's all that we would
hear about.
Speaker 1 (01:23:19):
I did.
Speaker 3 (01:23:20):
I did it.
Speaker 2 (01:23:20):
But it's like low money. It's only like sixteen hundred
to the winner.
Speaker 1 (01:23:24):
That that's not bad? How is that low?
Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:23:26):
I forgot?
Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
That's right. You're a trophy husband.
Speaker 2 (01:23:29):
Yes, yeah, exactly right.
Speaker 1 (01:23:31):
Yeah no, but I won mine.
Speaker 2 (01:23:32):
I actually split it with the guy before we played
in the finals eight hundred each.
Speaker 1 (01:23:37):
You wouldn't even go did he proposed out?
Speaker 3 (01:23:39):
Or did you?
Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:23:40):
He did?
Speaker 2 (01:23:41):
I'm like, sure, why not? What the hell?
Speaker 5 (01:23:43):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:23:43):
Well, fantasy expert, then Arnie Spaniel, let's go through some
of these Roman number rundowns. If you missed our one
spent a lot of time on college football.
Speaker 2 (01:23:51):
Because since we just did fantasy football, did you see
what one league is doing to decide their order of picking.
Speaker 1 (01:23:59):
I see a lot of the videos on the intra webt.
Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
It's like how fast you can finish off a big
mac and they that's how they picked the one through twelve.
Speaker 1 (01:24:09):
Or what if you don't like a big Mac, well.
Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
Then you're gonna be picking twelfth. I guess okay, I
thought that was funny.
Speaker 3 (01:24:17):
I like that one. How fat I see a different
one every day. There's a guy that then they do
forty yard dashes.
Speaker 2 (01:24:24):
Were you're right in the ocean. Is that the one
you're talking about?
Speaker 3 (01:24:28):
No? Were they were timing their forty yard dagh okay,
like they would do their time in their forty Then
you had the guy that lost and had to join
the army.
Speaker 1 (01:24:34):
You know, I don't know what's really I love that one.
Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
That's crazy, that's insane.
Speaker 1 (01:24:38):
So you can if I move on a romanomerine three,
then ye bad uh.
Speaker 3 (01:24:43):
After three weeks of the preseason and the end of
the preseason and the impending start of the regular season,
Arnie Spanier, I know this what really jumped out at
you from three weeks of the preseason.
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
A couple things. First of all, I know this, and
we said this just kind of generically before I start
getting into any teams or individuals. I think the offenses
are ahead of the defenses. I think a lot of
the games are going to go over for a bunch
of different reasons. One, we're getting more kickoffs, which means
you'll get some pretty good field position. We want to
(01:25:17):
go ahead. Make sure that these field goal kickers are
kicking sixty sixty five even more than that sometimes. And
now all you have to do is cross midfield, Chris,
and you don't have to punt the ball. If you
cross miss midfield, either go for it on fourth down
or you kick a long field goal. So I think
we're going to see a lot of high scoring games,
(01:25:38):
a lot of over games, and it will make a
lot of money. I don't think the Vegas will catch
up to the over yet. They only move the over
under like a point maybe.
Speaker 3 (01:25:48):
So how many overs did we still end up hitting
after the first week of the preseason.
Speaker 1 (01:25:53):
That I don't know, especially the last week there was
so many.
Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
You know, irrelevant what happened in Game three at the
very least, right right, that's every week of games, so I.
Speaker 1 (01:26:02):
Really couldn't tell what it was after that first week.
Speaker 3 (01:26:04):
So you're not ready to are you still on the
Buffalo Bills? Are in trouble train?
Speaker 2 (01:26:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
More than ever now I'm a little weary on the boat.
Speaker 2 (01:26:12):
I didn't have him winning that division had to go
in my Miami Dolphins winning the division.
Speaker 1 (01:26:16):
Got you're picking your Dolphins to win the division?
Speaker 2 (01:26:20):
Yes? I am I gotta be right sooner. Did you
see that article that the thing I sent you the
last time your team won the division? Did you see that?
Speaker 3 (01:26:29):
I don't know, Arnie. It's in the myriad of you
started sending rundowns for the show on Friday, So, I mean,
I've got so much stuff here.
Speaker 2 (01:26:36):
I had no idea I sent you. So it says
the last time your team won a division? Right, So
I was looking that up the last time my Dolphins?
When do you think the last time the Dolphins won
the AFC's.
Speaker 3 (01:26:51):
Well, it was probably pre Belichick, so I would have
to say, what like, oh seven o eight?
Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
Your two thousand and eight was gonna say pre Cold War.
I've been waiting seventeen years just to win the division.
Speaker 1 (01:27:06):
Just do you know who currently has the longest slump?
Speaker 2 (01:27:11):
The Raiders.
Speaker 3 (01:27:12):
Raiders are close them and the Jets two thousand and two,
though the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (01:27:16):
Know the Browns haven't won the division since.
Speaker 3 (01:27:18):
That's right, nineteen eighty nine was the last time the
brown said wait to find the actual tweet that you sent?
Speaker 2 (01:27:23):
Are you your Raiders? Was two thousand and two. I
literally just said that, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:27:28):
You don't listen to me.
Speaker 2 (01:27:30):
Are two thousand and two though, that's a long time.
Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
But that's kind of bees because in twenty sixteen they
only didn't win the division because of the last week
of the season without Derek Carr. So I mean, they
still basically won the division in my opinion that year.
But it is what it is. You lose your quarterback,
you get hurt. I guess you can't help it. But yeah,
two thousand and two for the Raiders last time they
(01:27:52):
won the division, and what do we say for the
Dolphins two thousand and eight, Yeah, about two thousand and
nine for the Chargers being the last time that they
won it. That's crazy too, and that is kind of
be us because the Raiders and the Chiefs were both
twelve and four in twenty sixteen, so I mean to me,
they technically tied for the division lead. So I don't
even know if that fits for the Raiders. But two
(01:28:14):
thousand and eight, I'll tell you who shocked me the
most on here is I felt like the run the
Cardinals had when they were pretty good was more recent
than ten years ago that one of the divisions at
twenty fifteen, I.
Speaker 2 (01:28:25):
Was a little surprised that Giants had one of the
divisions since twenty eleven, though.
Speaker 3 (01:28:29):
They considering you had a cold, since twenty fourteen were
the longest run as far as just outright winning the division.
But it goes back full circle to you saying that
you think all these divisions are set and they're over,
and now you're picking other teams to win said divisions
that I was right.
Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
Then, yeah, I was right, they are over, but I'm
making a little I'm mixing it up a little bit though.
Speaker 3 (01:28:52):
So wait, hold no, no, you're making zero sense tonight.
We're trying to watch. No, that's why it's enraging, trying
to wipe out your two picks from a Kansas State
game that you picked and you picked the over which
were two losses. And now you're basically saying that you're
were right because all the divisions are set, but you're
(01:29:13):
picking other teams to win said divisions set.
Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
Just the Buffalo Miami division, because I could see that
Buffalo is gonna have a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:29:21):
Of a problem.
Speaker 1 (01:29:22):
I am worried about Miami, worried about a.
Speaker 2 (01:29:24):
Hane even though they said he's gonna start Week one,
I'm not. I don't know if he's gonna be able
to hold up the whole season. I'm a little worried
about his durability.
Speaker 1 (01:29:33):
After the preseason.
Speaker 3 (01:29:36):
I think I know this, and again, I'm not trying
to get too carried away, but I don't know if
the Titans are gonna be good anytimes. My shout out
to Shady Sean here. I don't know if the Titans
are gonna be good anytime soon. But I kind of
like what I'm seeing in cam Ward. You know, I again,
I'm not trying to get too I'm trying to stay
as even keel as I can during the preseason. But
(01:29:56):
you know, there's not any numbers they're gonna jaw drop
you who was just two for seven in the game
against the Falcons.
Speaker 1 (01:30:02):
But I don't know, Arnie.
Speaker 3 (01:30:03):
I kind of like the cuts that are coming out
of camp, the accountability that he seems to be laying
out there. I think I was kind of a sucker
anytime a guy comes out and says, my dad worked hard,
So I'm gonna go out here and prove him if
he could come work that hard to go work a
job he hates, and I could come out here and
do this for something I love. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:30:22):
I didn't think that highly of the quarterback class.
Speaker 3 (01:30:24):
And we'll see Jackson Darts had a good preseason, and
obviously Kim Warts had a pretty good preseason. But I
kind of like the draw that they got and Ill
had this. I mean, I you're the one that was
selling Daniel Jones near the end of the last season.
I bet you barely remember that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:41):
I remember that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:42):
Yeah, and then all of.
Speaker 1 (01:30:43):
A sudden he ends up getting the job in Indie.
Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
I told you that happen.
Speaker 1 (01:30:46):
No you didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:30:47):
You said Anthony Richardson was going to start last week.
You bet you're You're like, oh, I guarantee you he's
gonna sort I promise you it. And now Daniel Jones
ends up getting the nod over him. So I don't
know if that affects you. Indianapolis is the worst team
in the NFL, take or not. It does because I
went with the Saints. But I'm also saying Carolina now too.
(01:31:07):
They're gonna be one two for that number one pick
next year. That's how bad both those teams are right now. Okay,
anything else that you took away from the final week
in the preseason three weeks combined, I Sally.
Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
Said, I know that you and Hartman are wrong about
the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (01:31:24):
Okay, they're not gonna do squat this year.
Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
Matter of fact, they have five and twelve written all
over themselves. I don't know where he thinks they're gonna
win a division and have a big year. They're destined
to be third, if not fourth, only because the Giants
have such a tough schedule, but they should have close
to the same. They're gonna be a seller team. I
just don't see it happening for them, to be honest
(01:31:50):
with I don't think they have enough firepower.
Speaker 1 (01:31:51):
This is a one to eighty from you constantly picking
them to go to the superow.
Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
I know I didn't pick them this year, though I
don't have them this year. You are aware that I
picked by the way this year.
Speaker 3 (01:32:01):
No, I know Miami and somebody.
Speaker 2 (01:32:04):
No, I didn't pick Miami. Uh, this is I picked Buffalo.
You make zero s what I picked Buffalo. You know,
it's kind of like middling. I said, well, I suppose
I'm wrong, suppose Buffalo is not having trouble, and I'm
all wrong on this and they're as good as you
know everybody thinks they are. And I'm like well, maybe
(01:32:25):
they won't win the division. But uh, you know, I
started looking at the other teams in the AFC, and
it always kind of went back to Buffalo Buffalo in
Philadelphia in the Super Bowl with Buffalo winning it.
Speaker 3 (01:32:38):
Did you like say things and then just think we
don't remember that you just said them. I mean you
think you have like the nebulizer from the X Men.
Speaker 1 (01:32:46):
I'm a very complex person.
Speaker 2 (01:32:48):
You know that in Black Flash Machine.
Speaker 1 (01:32:50):
Yeah, I'm a very complex person.
Speaker 3 (01:32:51):
I want you literally just said Buffalo's in trouble, they've.
Speaker 2 (01:32:55):
Got problems to win the division, but.
Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
The division, and then you're picking them to win the
Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:33:00):
Them win the super Bowl, that's right. The Dallas Cowboys
had three straight years or they were twelve and five.
Speaker 3 (01:33:06):
I mean, it's not like it's a it's a they
had a bad year last year when Dak got dingmed up.
But I mean it's they moved on from McCartney Mike
McCarthy with I. I don't know, you take him or
leave him. I'm not the biggest fan or non fan
of him, but you're acting like they're just a bunch.
Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
Of scrubs or something. You think that was a pretty
good roster. There's no way they finished ahead of Philadelphia Washington.
Speaker 1 (01:33:26):
I'm not zero saying that, but zero.
Speaker 3 (01:33:29):
They were twelve and five two years ago and won
the division, and twelve and five the year before. And
I mean you're not looking at some completely wiped out roster.
They were a good team for three the last four years.
Speaker 2 (01:33:40):
Yeah, I'm not believing in dark Prescott and outdated supermodels
before they finished one to two in that division.
Speaker 1 (01:33:47):
Well, I mean, don't you consider your wife to be
like a supermodel?
Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
Well? Absolutely, I take that back.
Speaker 3 (01:33:52):
Yeah, you gotta be careful now. I just if they
get Mike And the big key here is if they
can get Michael Parsons happy. I mean, you're you gonna
get him? Is he going to Is this going to
be a problem. It's going to carry over through the season.
Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
It'd be great if they weren't able to franchise tag
him and they had to get a deal done this year.
Speaker 3 (01:34:09):
But they aren't. I mean, that's just that's that's the rules.
Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
And oh, Bob Way, why do people keep saying that
he's going to lose out on a lot of money.
Speaker 3 (01:34:17):
Because you're supposed to not You're supposed to pay back
these fines whenever you're even though he's injured.
Speaker 2 (01:34:25):
Why don't you do the fake injury thing and then
you that's what he's doing. Yeah, but you do that
during the whole season too. You could do that.
Speaker 3 (01:34:31):
Well, I mean eventually, I know this sounds crazy, Arnie,
but they do have doctors that pull up imaging and
X rays and everything. They're like, buddy, we're not seeing
anything on this, and that's what they're paid millions of
dollars to do. So, I mean, I just heard Willard
tell him the story about I don't remember which Niner
it was, but them fighting about a calf injury and
(01:34:52):
going back and forth. I mean, you just can't sit
there and play sick all year long. Eventually you get caught.
Speaker 2 (01:34:58):
Well, I mean, are they gonna catch you? How much
you're gonna save your fines? What are they gonna say?
Get out there and go ahead and get yourself hurt again?
And they can't really tell you if you're you know,
you could say you have COVID or something.
Speaker 3 (01:35:09):
I don't know, Gosha, Okay, listen, I think he's a competitor.
I don't think everyone's wanting to sit on the sidelines
like you seem to want to I think he wants
to play. It's just a matter of getting the deal done.
Speaker 1 (01:35:20):
But Joy's not.
Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
Gonna get him a deal done before the start of
the season.
Speaker 3 (01:35:23):
So I mean they got two weeks. Well, actually they
got let's see, what would it be more money to
the like, but ten days to get it done, eleven
days to get it done. Plenty of time. Plenty of time.
But again, a little different world, man, because it seems
like Mike is a guy that likes to be out
on the field, and every single time we're like, oh
my gosh, what's gonna happen, Jerry, They're gonna have to
(01:35:44):
trade Ceedee Lamb or Dak Prescott. You you guaranteed me
once summer that Dak Prescott would never play again for
the Cowboys because he was gonna be traded, and Jerry
always gets the deal done.
Speaker 2 (01:35:53):
Well, I will tell you this. I think it was
kind of disrespectful of Michaeh. Parsons to lay down on
the training table and take like a nap during the game.
That kind of is a little disrespectful.
Speaker 3 (01:36:04):
Was that disrespectful or was it more what I watched
on the Broncos broadcast when he talked about Denver being
made for the Super Bowl and how that's where he
wants to play. What's more disrespectful, by the way, it
was a fake quote two weeks ago. I know, can
I do one more thing that I learned from the preseason?
Speaker 2 (01:36:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:36:21):
I don't know what you know.
Speaker 3 (01:36:23):
The plans are for the I don't produce the high
powered talk shows, the Dan Patricks or the Colin Coward's
or the Fox Sports debate shows or the ESPN debate shows.
But I did come to this conclusion after listening just
to Scoch today and watching a little bit this morning. Buddy,
the shit where Sanders talk is not going to go anywhere.
And if I learned anything this week is not only
(01:36:45):
is it not going to go anywhere, I have this
feeling it's going to be omnipresent around Cleveland and around
the NFL majority of the season unless Joe Flacco goes
out there in balls. And Dylan Gabriel looked damn good
this week.
Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
He does look very good.
Speaker 3 (01:36:58):
He does, I look pretty comfortable in that office, makes
a lot of offense. But I don't know, Arnie, I
just feel like, for some reason, it's like everyone's got
to have a take on why should got taken into
the game here, or why he's not playing, or why
the NFL teams didn't want to sign they got Eric
Dickerson throwing his bull crap out there. I mean, it's
just I just don't feel like it's ever gonna go
anywhere this year, and I think it's gonna become one
(01:37:20):
of those conversations kind of t Bow like and Kaepernick like,
it's just gonna wear us out.
Speaker 2 (01:37:25):
Oh, every it's gonna be there every week. Is he
gonna be every active roster? Is he gonna play? He's
the backup? What is what is coach Prime think of him? Yeah? Yeah, no,
you'll you'll have it all year long. It is gonna
get nauseating by the time we're done. By the way,
there are two teams that I've kind of changed my
mind about that I thought we're gonna have really bad years.
(01:37:46):
They could have really good years.
Speaker 1 (01:37:48):
Well, why don't we get into that next.
Speaker 2 (01:37:50):
Okay, let's do that next, then we'll do.
Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
This coming up next. It's Arnie Spaniel. I'm Chris Plank.

Speaker 3 (01:38:30):
Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcast,
and you'll see today's show posted right after we get
off the air. Couple of things off the Twitter machine
that I wanted to get to. This was pretty good
from David, who said, use your influence to stop talk
of expanding the college football playoff more, not better. Just
(01:38:52):
the conference champs, play bye week for top two ranked champs,
see the others, and play other teams to bowls. Conference
winning percentage is used to wait teams for strength of
schedule the following year. So in other words, I think
he's trying to say stay at twelve, maybe even go
back to eight. But we're not. We're not like decreasing this.
(01:39:14):
We're growing it.
Speaker 1 (01:39:15):
Yeah, we're not.
Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
It's not gonna stop. I can see it going to
sixteen and maybe stopping right around sixteen. I don't think
it's gonna be more than that.
Speaker 1 (01:39:24):
Do you know what?
Speaker 3 (01:39:25):
I'll tell you one thing more than anything else, Arnie,
is we're not minimize. You can come in and say,
why don't you just do this? Why don't we go
to back to eight, or why don't we go back
to six, or why don't that ain't happening?
Speaker 2 (01:39:39):
No, no, no.
Speaker 3 (01:39:40):
That the toothpaste is out a DJ the kids said,
tell Arnie to quit disrespecting my Panthers. The Dolphins haven't
won a playoff game since two thousand. The Dolphins have
a better chance to get the number one pick than
the Panthers do right now.
Speaker 2 (01:39:57):
Arch manning number one pick.
Speaker 3 (01:40:01):
Earlier or not.
Speaker 2 (01:40:02):
He did say, you know, I we're gonna, you know,
decide this after the year. He didn't confirm that he
was gonna stay for two years, though that's what he said.
Speaker 3 (01:40:11):
Eddie the Nature Boy writes, I'm not gonna lie but
when I heard Hoodie back in the old days, I
wanted to injure whoever was playing it.
Speaker 1 (01:40:20):
Jason, I'm calling it now.
Speaker 3 (01:40:23):
I don't think the Browns will cut shit or but
if they do, the Raiders, who have waiver slot number six,
would pick him up absolutely, one hundred percent. Oh that's
your kind of prediction right there.
Speaker 1 (01:40:34):
Wow, what do you think how's that gonna play out?
Speaker 2 (01:40:37):
You think he'll be on the team all year or
get some starts in or how's that gonna play out
for him?
Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
I think they're gonna try to keep four quarterbacks, right,
I mean, isn't that what they're saying right now?
Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
What three on the roster and what on.
Speaker 3 (01:40:50):
The Yeah, maybe maybe one of the practice squad, you know,
and I don't know if he'll be here.
Speaker 2 (01:40:55):
You can't put you can't put Sanders on the practice squad.
Somebody would pick him up, I would think.
Speaker 3 (01:41:00):
And yeah, because everyone passed on him NonStop in the
NFL draft, Well.
Speaker 2 (01:41:04):
Somebody would definitely pick up Dylan Gabriel When you think
that or.
Speaker 3 (01:41:07):
No, absolutely baks on what they've seen. I mean, you're
you're saying, gosh, don't put him on the waiver wire.
Because someone would pick him up, would they? I mean,
do you do you want that headache if you feel
pretty good about your quarterback situation.
Speaker 4 (01:41:21):
The whole media headache ahead of the draft has proven
to be totally justified now, like you, like you would say,
they're asked about a Shadu, right.
Speaker 2 (01:41:30):
And I understand that's not his fault though, no, but
it's you if you bring that into your lot.
Speaker 3 (01:41:35):
Part of it is you have to deal with it.
Part of it is his fault. He draws the attention
to himself and it's fine. That's what you got to
do anymore in this game, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:41:42):
I thought interesting is that on that the five guys
that were blocking for Chadur yesterday or Saturday yesterday, for
of them got cut today.
Speaker 3 (01:41:53):
Well, I mean it was the same line that was
in blocking for Huntley who came in for him. And
I'm pretty sure it was the same line they had
in there with Gabriel to wrap up his last.
Speaker 2 (01:42:01):
Series that I don't know. That I don't know, but
that you know, people are making excuses for him.
Speaker 1 (01:42:06):
Right they who are you put him in the They should.
Speaker 2 (01:42:09):
Have had him in there for the last drive to
go ahead and win this thing.
Speaker 3 (01:42:12):
You know, are those people general managers, the team vice presidents.
Speaker 1 (01:42:16):
Yeah no, they're just schleps on the intrawebs like you.
Speaker 3 (01:42:19):
Yeah, but I will say, I mean, you can't argue
he looked good in week one of the preseason, right right,
But go back and look who else has looked good.
Speaker 1 (01:42:28):
I mean, Brandon Allen has looked great. The Tennessee Titans
back up.
Speaker 3 (01:42:31):
I mean, is he gonna is he gonna be a
guy that people will go out and get who was
the uh the first week of the season the Raiders,
Cam Miller came out and played real well, you put
him in the preseason Hall of Fame. Yeah, for the way,
Oh we put Trey Lance in the preseason Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (01:42:46):
So I don't you know what final should dura.
Speaker 2 (01:42:48):
I know this sounds crazy, but he does have his
rights owned by like the Toronto Argonauts. I would consider
playing a year up there and being the starting quarterback
and you know, kind of getting my skill and shore.
But do what I can do.
Speaker 1 (01:43:01):
Yeah, it is.
Speaker 3 (01:43:04):
It's got to be wild to a thought you were
gonna be one of the guys as recently as what
like March April Arnie where you were gonna go to
a team in the first round and you were gonna
be there franchise quarterback. I mean there there was still
nobody leading up to the draft on that Thursday night
that didn't think he was going to go in.
Speaker 1 (01:43:24):
The first round. Very few and far between.
Speaker 3 (01:43:27):
Ev if you did, it was just some crazy person
shod Or Sanders not going to go in the first round.
Speaker 2 (01:43:31):
I thought he was going to go to Pittsburgh. I
think they had like number twenty or something on.
Speaker 3 (01:43:34):
Yeah, twenty one, and that was the low that We're like, oh,
that's the basement, that's the lowest he can go. And
then we started thinking, well Cleveland trade back into the
first round. You went from that to now being someone
that we're debating whether or not he's even gonna make
the team. I don't know, man, It's it's kind of wild.
I mean, something either something crazy happened between so.
Speaker 2 (01:43:54):
You don't think he'll be picked up if he gets
put on the practice squad.
Speaker 3 (01:43:58):
I mean depends on what other quarterback situations look like.
But I mean, Arnie, do you see you just had
Sam Howe get traded.
Speaker 2 (01:44:06):
For right right?
Speaker 3 (01:44:07):
Do you know Sam Howe has I was just looking
at this during the break. He's a Sam Hack. What'd
you just say?
Speaker 2 (01:44:13):
He's a good quarterback based on what he got some starts,
what he was.
Speaker 1 (01:44:18):
He was the Washington starter in twenty three and went
four and thirteen.
Speaker 2 (01:44:22):
Well it wasn't all his fault there, but I think
he's a pretty good quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:44:25):
He was exactly fifty five times that year.
Speaker 2 (01:44:27):
Yeesh.
Speaker 3 (01:44:28):
So he's on his fourth team right now. In three
years in the league. He was the first round pick
and our fifth round pick, excuse me in twenty two.
He's played with the Commanders, the Seahawks, the Vikings, and
was traded to the Eagles.
Speaker 1 (01:44:40):
Today.
Speaker 3 (01:44:41):
The Philadelphia Eagles just went to trade for a guy
from Minnesota before they would even think about having a
conversation about Shador Sanders. I mean, it's just I don't know, dude,
Maybe you have more and I don't know if you
feel like he's a starting quarterback eventually in the league.
Speaker 2 (01:44:57):
I don't know if I feel that way or not. Yeah,
I don't know if I that way. I just wanted
to see. I would like for him to get a chance.
If Cleveland starts off slow, which they made, they're you know,
they're not going to be a very good team. I
could see him was like a five win team this year.
Speaker 3 (01:45:12):
Would you go would you want to go with him
or would you go with Dylan Gabriel?
Speaker 2 (01:45:16):
I would go with Dylan Gabriel, see exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:45:19):
I mean that's just the whole thing now, So what
good is it?
Speaker 2 (01:45:22):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (01:45:22):
This was interesting earlier from Kmark. I can't believe I
missed this. With Iowa stage twenty four to twenty one
win over Kansas State. That's three straight games in Ireland
that have ended with a total of forty five points.
Oh did you know that no Iowa State bea Kansas
State twenty four to twenty one. That's the same score
from the Georgia Tech Florida State game last year, and
(01:45:43):
Notre Dame the previous season beating.
Speaker 1 (01:45:45):
Eighty A Navy forty two to forty three.
Speaker 2 (01:45:47):
Did you see the ending of the game forty two
to three?
Speaker 1 (01:45:49):
I'm sorry?
Speaker 2 (01:45:50):
Did you see the very ending of the game of
which one Iowa State Kansas State? Oh? Yeah, sure it was.
It was supposed to go over. The guy was in
the end zone. They call the touchdown. They reviewed it
and they said his forearm went down on the one
in chart.
Speaker 1 (01:46:05):
Line because they kind to go out.
Speaker 2 (01:46:08):
Then they allowed the clock to go down from two
eighteen to two minutes, and then the team took three
knees and never got into the end zone. So that's
why it didn't go over.
Speaker 1 (01:46:18):
Well, I mean it's still not an over right, isn't
that right?
Speaker 2 (01:46:21):
I agree?
Speaker 1 (01:46:22):
Why are you not then living by that?
Speaker 2 (01:46:24):
Well, we do that whole game out because of what happened,
you know, with the wrong pick.
Speaker 3 (01:46:28):
You know, so you're gonna stand by that. That's gonna
be the hill that you've done. They had the wrong pick. Yeah,
I now I know why Bet doesn't let you gamble anymore.
I think I kind of get it as far as
that is concerned. Hey, overnight, Joe gave thumbs downs on
the preseason and said, this go to an eighteen game
(01:46:50):
season over twenty weeks, two buys, no preseason increase the roster.
Speaker 2 (01:46:57):
Gotta have some preseason and two games sounds about right
for the preseason to me. You think, so, yeah, I
think two games you get your everything in order. There
was only nine starting quarterbacks did not play the entire preseason,
so you know everybody else saw that.
Speaker 3 (01:47:13):
Listen, were you surprised to see Michael PINNOCKX on that list.
Speaker 1 (01:47:16):
Yeah, actch I was.
Speaker 2 (01:47:17):
I thought that he would get at least a series
or two or a quarter, and before it was all
said and done.
Speaker 1 (01:47:22):
I thought I had no idea. I had no idea
that he hadn't played.
Speaker 3 (01:47:26):
I would have. In fact, I was watching a Falcons
game one night. I'm like that Michael Pinnox isn't in there,
but they obviously feel confident about it.
Speaker 1 (01:47:37):
Wood he right.
Speaker 3 (01:47:37):
Don't forget about the state of Wisconsin having Bob Uker
Celebration of Life Day today and the Milwaukee Brewers incredible season. Dude,
I love me some Bobyuker.
Speaker 2 (01:47:49):
He was Bob Yuker.
Speaker 1 (01:47:51):
He was cool before cool was cool.
Speaker 2 (01:47:53):
That was a good That's a good Stateum to go.
I used to go up to Milwaukee to go to
the season Brewer games when I lived in Chicago.
Speaker 3 (01:48:00):
What's that? That's not too bad? Oh, you wouldn't drive,
He's probably what train or I drove.
Speaker 2 (01:48:04):
It's only about uh, I want to say, like forty
five minutes to an hour.
Speaker 3 (01:48:09):
It's not bad at all, not bad at all. When
you were there, was it wasn't Miller Park? Was it
the new stadium or no.
Speaker 2 (01:48:15):
No, no, it was not the new stadium.
Speaker 3 (01:48:17):
Uh, this is good from Johnny. Johnny be good to me.
Shador just doesn't have the drive like Dion had. He's
a good player, it just seems as if he's doing
the NFL a favor with his presence.
Speaker 2 (01:48:31):
That's more of a generational thing than I believe. He
doesn't work hard like his dad. You know, that's just
this generation. Is it different than the old school generation?
Speaker 3 (01:48:41):
And I don't necessarily know if that's a good thing. Well,
I'll ask you the same thing that you asked me
from Roman numeral number eight. Are they setting I mean,
you're not buying that they're setting him up to lose?
Are you? No?
Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
I but a lot of people are. They didn't make
that the narrative. I mean, it was all over Twitter.
It was disgusting that they're like cook what they're doing
to him. That's why I brought up about the four
guys getting cut out of the five offensive linemen. People
thought that he should have been a teduor should have
been in there at the end of the game to
at least get the win and get the field goal
(01:49:14):
or whatever it was. They just felt that he wasn't
given that extra opportunity. But he didn't look good at all, Chris.
He was horrible and not good.
Speaker 3 (01:49:22):
I guess, are we saving Roman numeral five and six
for your picks? Is that officially what we're saving it? Four?
Speaker 1 (01:49:27):
Have a meteor pick section this week?
Speaker 2 (01:49:29):
Well, i'd mean, I'm just gonna do the games. But
I did tell you there were two teams I had.
I did it about face on.
Speaker 3 (01:49:36):
Right, you're picking the Dolphins now to win the East? Shocking,
But you know what else I like?
Speaker 2 (01:49:44):
Actually it's another team in that division who I thought
was going to be lousy that they're really starting to
scare me a little bit. To the New England Patriots,
just the whole new attitude and just they looked real
good in the preseason. I'm worried about them. And the
Chicago Bears. I didn't think they were going to be lousy,
but I they're ready to take the next step up,
next step up. I can't wait to see what Caleb
(01:50:04):
Williams are going to do this year.
Speaker 3 (01:50:06):
So you're buying a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:50:08):
I'm buying a little bit of the Bears.
Speaker 2 (01:50:09):
I wasn't completely on board. Now I think I'm on board.
Speaker 3 (01:50:12):
With the Bears, even though you sent me that he
had the highest percentage of missed passes missed incompletion on
open receivers. That was a stat you sent me yester year.
Speaker 1 (01:50:23):
Yes, I did.
Speaker 2 (01:50:24):
What was Caleb Williams number one? No?
Speaker 1 (01:50:26):
He was number two?
Speaker 2 (01:50:27):
Oh my goodness. Actually, so it was incomplete passes based
on just crappy throws, is what it was.
Speaker 1 (01:50:34):
Right, let's see hold and you had actually sent the
Twitter link.
Speaker 3 (01:50:37):
It was a highest rate of incompletions due to inaccurate passes. Yes,
and three of the top five are people that everyone loves.
Mac Jones is one, followed by Caleb Williams, Drake May,
Matthew Stafford, and then there's Bryce Young. Oh, by the way,
c J. Stroud at six, and Bo Nick's seven. Your
(01:50:59):
boy two is in the top ten. I think on
that list too.
Speaker 2 (01:51:02):
Yeah, I figured he'd be right around there.
Speaker 1 (01:51:04):
Have you done the old one eighty on him?
Speaker 3 (01:51:05):
Yet?
Speaker 1 (01:51:06):
I take them back? He's like thirteenth. Have you done
the one eighty on him?
Speaker 3 (01:51:08):
Yet?
Speaker 2 (01:51:09):
I love by two?
Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
You know that.
Speaker 2 (01:51:11):
Come on now, I think I've.
Speaker 3 (01:51:15):
Won eighty a little bit in the in the preseason
on the Giants, not to the point where I think
they're gonna be good or not that I'm getting too
carried away from their little more season.
Speaker 2 (01:51:26):
Everybody comes into their schedule is so tough. They're gonna
be horrible this year. Jackson can start right away. If
they're oh and whatever, they might not be that bad.
Speaker 1 (01:51:34):
You're right, they could be.
Speaker 3 (01:51:36):
I mean this is gonna sound crazy to say, but
they could be oh and four and still a really
good football.
Speaker 2 (01:51:40):
Team that Jackson Darted at zher and four.
Speaker 1 (01:51:43):
Well, it depends on how it looks.
Speaker 3 (01:51:44):
I think Jackson. I think jack Jackson Dart. I mean,
obviously we've seen it already with cam Ward. I think
they're both can end up starting a lot of games
this year. Cam's gonna start all of them. I think
Jackson Darts can end up starting a lot of games
this year year. I think the New York games. I
think Tyler Shuck's going to start a lot of game
for the Saints.
Speaker 2 (01:52:03):
I think the fifth game for the Giants is the Saints.
So if they do start off zero and four, yeah,
that's you're exactly right, that'd be a good time to
switch it up with a dot or what well, maybe
what if it's a situation where Russell Wilson's playing really
well and they just can't stop anyone turnovers.
Speaker 1 (01:52:22):
I don't know, but I mean this, This schedule is crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:52:25):
At Washington, at Dallas home for the Chiefs, home for
the Chargers.
Speaker 1 (01:52:29):
Then you go at New Orleans, then you're home for the.
Speaker 3 (01:52:32):
Eagles, at the Broncos at the Eagles, home for the Niners.
That's your season. That is brutal, brutal for the New
York Giants. All right, well, then let's before we break,
then let's hit some of your official predictions for your
division winners, your wild Card, and your Super Bowl, and
then we'll get to the games for college your official picks.
Speaker 2 (01:52:54):
I am going to go with Miami. It's so much,
you know. I am a little worried about Buffalo getting
it done this year, but that division is not as
strong as I think it is. A matter of fact,
it's probably one of the lower end divisions. But New
England kind of brings up a little bit. But I'm
gonna go with Miami.
Speaker 1 (01:53:12):
And of course the other ones are easy.
Speaker 3 (01:53:14):
Baltimore, actually, that division's pretty easy too.
Speaker 2 (01:53:18):
Baltimore, Uston in Kansas City, that's pretty much done. The
wildcard team's Buffalo, Denver, and Cincinnati. Again, that was very
easy to pick. I don't think there's gonna be a
lot of fighting it out for the wildcard either in
the NFC.
Speaker 1 (01:53:32):
In the NFC I had, I didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:53:34):
Pick the Chargers in there. I didn't take them. In
the NFC, I have Philadelphia, Detroit, Atlanta, and San Francisco. Really,
I'm on the Atlanta bandwagon this year. I'm all over that.
I got the Bears in with Green Bay and the Rams.
NFC was tough to pick. To get everybody in there,
I'm like, who else do I like? I have Buffalo
(01:53:55):
and Philadelphia in the Super Bowl, and I went with
Buffalo as my winner this.
Speaker 3 (01:53:58):
Year, even though literally ten minutes ago you said you
think they have problems.
Speaker 2 (01:54:04):
Yeah, but when I'm wrong, I'm wrong big time. And
then they play like world beaters there. So I'm kind
of hedging my bet there is This is.
Speaker 1 (01:54:14):
One of the all time great middles of all time.
Thank you, thank you. I don't think they're I think
they're in trouble.
Speaker 3 (01:54:19):
They're in big trouble, but were making them to go
to the Super Bowl because that way I could pick
Miami to win.
Speaker 2 (01:54:25):
The division.
Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
But wouldn't you then be mad if Miami won the
division and we're just out in the first round.
Speaker 1 (01:54:32):
Of Yes, yes, I would be mad.
Speaker 2 (01:54:35):
Yes, I'll tell you.
Speaker 3 (01:54:36):
I think that's what's going to happen in the West Ouch,
even though I see Roger the Engineer is already drinking
the Chiefs kool aid. Enough of the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (01:54:45):
I've seen people.
Speaker 2 (01:54:46):
I've seen a lot of people say the Chiefs are
not going to win the division this year.
Speaker 1 (01:54:49):
I feel like we say that for each of the
last eleven years.
Speaker 2 (01:54:52):
But also but the one score game of how about
ten times last year that that has that's going to
come to an end. You can't be lucky every week.
Speaker 3 (01:55:01):
You can't. You can't live that charmed of alive. No,
but I will I will say. I know you're not
big on what is I think going to be the
competitive nature of the NFC North, But I am. I
think that's going to be a dogfight every single week.
Whatever Cleveland doesn't have on offense, I think they're a
pretty good defensive football team. I think it's going to
be a fun division all year long. And let's see,
(01:55:22):
you know what has Cincinnati done historically under Joe Burrow
gotten off to a terrible start, right. They do it.
Speaker 1 (01:55:30):
Every single year, they just it takes them a couple
weeks to get going.
Speaker 2 (01:55:33):
But this year they're cognizant about it. They were doing
something about it, right.
Speaker 3 (01:55:36):
They played them a little bit more in the preseason. Yeah, even.
And I think it is that the schedule. I mean
they open at the Browns and they get the Jaguars,
followed by an unknown with the Vikings. I mean unknown
with the Vikings. I mean if they start one and
four this year or one in three, that something is
tragically wrong with the way that they're they're doing camp
(01:55:58):
or something, aren't you that'd be insane, you know who?
Speaker 2 (01:56:00):
I like the under on is the Rams because I
can't trust Matthew Stafford what's going on with They said
he was back at practice, but they're certainly keeping a
lot of things on the wrap with him. I gotta
bet the under with the Rams if he goes down
that season's done.
Speaker 3 (01:56:14):
Could not agree more. All right, that's just a sample.
When we come back, you get all of Arnie's picks
for the week, plus the best tweets of the show.
Coming up on a busy Sunday, night into a game
week for college football, right here on Fox Sports Radio
