Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Now, let's go, stick, let's go, big boy, let's go,
let's go.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
We've got a big time college football game coming down
to the wire between Miami and Notre Dame.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yes we do.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
We've had rain, We've had big time plays. We got
a tie game at the two minute timeout twenty four
all with Miami face and a third and two.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
Doesn't come behind.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
You this, I'm like seven seconds behind you. I don't
know though, they'll ruin the game for me.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Oh yeah, no, we would never do that. Oh oh no,
oh no. See that's what you do all the time,
anytime that you have it. But uh, it looks like
Miami is going to come up just short. Oh Lake
punch first down. They move the sticks, Arnie, Oh my good,
the sticks. So Miami inching towards the red zone in

(00:54):
a tie game with a minute forty nine to go.
In what has been I mean, this has been a
great well, I say, into the college football weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
We still have Bill Belichick's debut tomorrow night.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
I don't forget about that.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Yeah, in North Carolina. But it's been a fun one man.
It's sat a little bit of everything. Tonight hasn't it?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
It has. I mean tonight's game has been fun to watch.
I thought it was over when it was twenty one seven.
I didn't think nod Too was gonna be able to
muster up enough offense. Jitlone stop Miami and the ground game.
I mean, Miami was just chewing them up. And plus
Carson Beck looked really good, like he couldn't be stopped.
I didn't think there was any way that Notre Dame
was going to get back.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
In this game.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Well, and remember, you know, Carson Beck heading into last
season was a guy that was being talked about as
a potential first round pick, maybe even the top quarterback
in the draft.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
You know, when we do these way too early mock drafted.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Yeah, projection thinks Carson Beck heading into what we thought
was going to be his last year at Georgia, oh man,
he was, as the kids say these days, Arnie, he
was the Bee's knees.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
But he had a bad year. But well, I mean
bad year in Georgia terms.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Right, Oh, they didn't win the national champion and Chip
look like he might turn pro decided to go somewhere else,
and I don't know all in all, I think he's
looked pretty good tonight.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Now I was at bad moments, but he's been good
to watch.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
I was curious to see what he was going to
look like today.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
That was the one thing I was watching.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
I'm like, is he gonna be a guy that's just
gonna unleash it and he's not gonna be in the
Georgia grips and he's gonna have more of a say.
And they said before the game that they were gonna
use his smarts to just go ahead and you know,
audible or do whatever he wanted to do. I think
he's done a really good job today, even though the
score is tied at twenty four and they should have

(02:34):
never been in this position. I think he's done a
pretty good job.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
He's twenty for thirty with two hundred and five yards
through the air, two touchdown passes. Hasn't run it too
terribly much, but Miami is pushing the ball towards It
doesn't seem like they're in much of a hurry, so
it looks like they're gonna try to as bad as
their field goal kicker has been. Now you've got Notre
Dames starting to use timeouts as bad as a field

(02:59):
goal kicking situation has been Miami. For Miami, it looks
like they're gonna put it on the shoulder of their kickers.
Oh oh my goodness. They have it second down and
four right now, it's third down and third worth of
Notre Dame thirty. So it's that forty seven yard attempt.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah, do you go ahead?

Speaker 4 (03:16):
Just run it?

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Though you can't run it twice. You gotta kick it
on fourth down. Yeah, you gotta take a chance, even
if you don't have confidence in you.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
I think you got to fill the football here.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Well, you know what I say that Miami has been
a team that's been running the ball pretty well. Uh,
and then if you get this first down, Notre Dame
does have to milk its last time out.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
That's exactly keep it simple, stupid, my friend. You know
a lot of people, especially Dion Sanders, do not navigate
well in the final two minutes. Make them use up
all their timeouts or keep the clock moving. You could
pass it if it's a safe pass, but I'm not
gonna go ahead and do that.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Well at the day, well this would then you just
went on what they said earlier about all the trust
in Carson Beck. But they're gonna run it and come
up well short of the first down, so Notre Dame
is gonna See here's the thing, though, and this is
where you have just I think, a certain sense of
back and forth with the is it the right call

(04:12):
or not?

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Notre Dame is out of timeouts. It's a twenty four
all game.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
But if you miss this field goal, you give the
ball to them a really good field position. And oh,
by the way, this is college football. The clock stops
when you get a first down. And Notre Dame has
absolutely been running the ball right through Miami every opportunity
they get. So this is a lot to put on
a kicker's shoulder who hasn't been very good.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
It isn't sometimes that one time out is not all
important as you make it out to be. As you mentioned,
you pick up the first out of the clock stops anyway.

Speaker 4 (04:46):
So keep it simple, stupid making it well.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
I know that, But I've been looking at it both ways, though,
I'm trying to keep it both ways.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
All right, Well, let's see what happens. It's a forty
seven yard attempt. Notre Dame is out of timeouts, We're
tired at twenty four all Miami looking to take the lead.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Oh he got it, he got it.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
He crushed it. Oh that is got it.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yes he did.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Right inside the right uprights. Notre Dame. We'll get the
football back with a minute four to go.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yah.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Yeah, that's what I just said.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Minute four to go. Plenty of time. Twenty seven to
twenty four. Miami leads Notre Dame.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
What a cap? What a cap?

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Now?

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Listen, I just off the top. I want to say,
you know, one of my favorite dudes is my man
Shady Sean for twenty I truly respect his disdain for
college football. I mean deep rooted respect, But I can't
fathom anyone in America right now that's like, hey, guys,
can you get to the Dodgers diamondback and move on.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Past this college football?

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Love you, bro, but I just like my mind is
not wired to think of anything outside of what we
saw this week. And of course we're going to look
ahead of the NFL week and then we go Thursday
Night's big game. But what a first weekend of the
college football season. And boyd started out with a bank
before we get to the game. Were you surprised at
how much everyone ended up being all in on Lee
Corso's last pick, and how big of a deal became

(06:06):
at all.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Oh my goodness, the numbers, the television numbers for Leek Corso.
It was just astronomical. I think at the end, at
the end, he what five million, and I think the
show got about three million something like that. I don't
hold me a I know they had over five million
on the final pick, and I guess he did very
good on his final pick, missed one. And the teams

(06:27):
that he used to coach or all won that day too.
There was that five of them, so, you know, good
for him. I didn't think it was going to be
all that crazy. I thought they were gonna go ahead
and do something for him. I heard about First of all,
why is he flying Southwest Airlines? Can you explain that
to I understand? Why is he not in a private
fight though? For one last show? But they gave him

(06:50):
a standing ovation.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
It's good.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
He's a good guy. I got to meet him once.
Chris got to play pool with him, and he was
with the pool with Leek or So. Why he was
with a bunch. It was in Atlanta, Georgia. He was
with some friends. I was with some friends from the
radio station. One of their friends knew one of our friends.
We all met, played some pool, had some drinks, and
just you know, I was just listening to the stories.

(07:14):
He's just a fun, great guy. Is as nice as
you think he is. He is, Okay, he really is.
He doesn't disappoint and he was just a lot of
fun to be around that night. And I'll never forget
he's a really good guy.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
I'm not gonna lie to you.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
I thought it was I thought it was a big
deal that, you know, it was his final game day.
He was you know, I started telling the stories to
a younger generation, if you will of you know, we
didn't have all the games, right. I remember being in
college and watching the scroll on the bottom of like
yes headline news to try to figure it out if
Tulsen won a football game.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
That's just it was a different world.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
I remember that.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah, but we had Lee Corsel, you know, we had
Lee Corso, and I knew it was a big deal.
I guess I wasn't prepared for five million viewers. I
wasn't prepared for both ESPN and Fox coming together to
air it, you know, live on on both networks. I
guess I wasn't truly prepared Arnie for it to be
right out in the middle of the field where they

(08:11):
actually did his final pick. Just really cool moment tribute
to Leak course. So some are saying he's retiring so
it doesn't have to come to Norman to deal with
me this weekend. I don't know if that's true or not,
but it all at all, I thought it ended up
being a really really cool tribute.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Good and it was a good one.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
You're right.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
It's a good way to send him out. And he's
always been a lot of fun. I've always enjoyed him.
It didn't make it difference what network he worked for.
I I always thought he was a good guy and
a lot of fun and then take himself too seriously.
And you know, there was a couple of that I
saw on Twitter, a couple of the best of Leak course,
uh huh. And I can't repeat what he said, but

(08:49):
he dropped the F bomb once. I don't know if
you remember that.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Oh my gosh, I can't believe how much they talked
about that. I watched the it was the Houston game.
It was a huge game, and Carl Lewis was up
there with him. I could not believe for as much
as that ended up being a terrible Yeah, he dropped
an that F bomb on live TV.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
And did it on purpose. I laughing, like laughing. Was
it Chris Fowler or Reese Davis on the desk? Why?
And they're losing it?

Speaker 3 (09:16):
And it was just it was a moment that they
were celebrating and I loved it. Right, I don't care,
but I remember whoa. Oh, by the way, big moment
here in this game. Not to interject in our leak course,
so love fest. They're going to call intentional grounding after CJ.
Carr tried to throw up them Paul while he was
being sacked. So this game should pretty much be over.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Don't they run the clock on that ten second run
off as they have no timeouts?

Speaker 3 (09:39):
Yeah, so that'll be down to twenty six seconds left
in the game. Oh, speaking of calls in games, let's
get right after everything that took place on Saturday in
college football with the sinking genius Arny Spaniard, I'm Chris
Plank twenty seven to twenty four with less than thirty
seconds left. Looks like Miami's gonna hold off Notre Dame,
though we'll see college football could be crazy like that, Arnie.

(10:00):
I was listening to you and Aaron last night getting
ready for us sitting in for Bernie, and I agree
with you that call in the LSU game, Oh geez,
on the catch in the corner of the end zone
that was then ruled an incomplete pass, Like what are
we doing?

Speaker 2 (10:17):
One of the worst football calls I think I've ever
seen in my life. And you know me, I didn't
care who was gonna win that game one way or
the other. And I didn't have any money on it
or anything like that. But if we're just just talking pure,
you know what really happened. I just don't know are
we gonna play this game again? Because that's like the
third or fourth time now I've seen a catch where
they've overruled it in different games. I'm like, is there

(10:39):
some wide world memo going out that I didn't get?
That's that we're going back to the old days of
what's a catch? What's not a catch? Because it's started
to be very frustrating. But the what in the LSU
game that you were talking about, yeah, that was about
as atrocious as it got.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
I mean, there's a bad one in the South Carolina
game today too.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Yes, yes, the one that hit the pylon. But that's
the one you're talking.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
About in the l the Shoe game.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Yeah, the one that you guys were talking about last
night that you said there should be an inquiry and
they should have all of those.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
Do you even remember what you said? Yes? I did, Okay,
I just wanted to make sure.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Rightfully, So, I mean that was I mean, unless I'm
not understanding it right, I needed one of the referees
to explain it to me. Why I thought that, you know,
onced you touch that pylon, you're as good as goal. Well, no,
you're incorrect on that. Okay, Why is that you treated it?

Speaker 3 (11:27):
That was one thing that you were wrong on. When
you're in the process of making a catch, you still
have to complete the catch. Just because you're holding the
ball when you touch the pilon. That doesn't automatically freeze time.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
If you have possession of the ball to hit the pylon.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
No, that's you gotta you gotta control the ball. Like
if you just have possession of the football, right and
you're in the air and you hit that pilon like that, dude,
was that doesn't freeze time. You got to hold onto
it while you're going down to the like he was
in the process of making the catch. Now, if he
was running right and and and he was a runner,
then that's a different thing. But he was striving to

(12:04):
make the catch, and I'm with you. I thought it
was a catch. But it doesn't freeze time. Whenever he
hits that pylon, He's got to complete the catch. And
that's they didn't even think in the booth in that
LSU Clemson game that they were reviewing.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Whether that's why I didn't get a good explanation of it.
Maybe that's they didn't know what the hell they were
talking about. Unfortunately, it's had a knock on Kirkin Chris Fowler.
I mean, they even go to their rules expert. He
screws the whole damn thing up right right right, So
maybe we missed something. I wish I could have heard
what was the discussion on why they, you know, didn't
want to do it. But you know, unfortunately, I'm like,

(12:39):
that's crazy, that's just nuts.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
I think from that game though, because I think the
biggest takeaway was that LSU was still found a way
to win the game.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Yeah, absolutely, that was one they gritted on out. Clemson
that's nobody to blame but themselves. You know, once they
got out to what was a ten to three lead
at half time, it's like, Okay, we got that lead,
We're gonna take our foot off the pedal and hope
we can cruise on to like a thirteen to ten
victory or something like they always like to do. And
it came back and bit them in the backside of
this time.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Hey, it is a final before we get into the
rest of the college football week in Miami has defeated
Notre Dame twenty seven to twenty four. Remember the Fighting
Irish last year got off to an incredible start. They
opened up the season in twenty twenty four with that
big win on the road in College Station beat Texas

(13:28):
A and M. And then they turn around and lost
to Northern Illinois on the.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
Right next time.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
I remember that.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
But they still ended up making the playoffs, and by
god damn there won the whole thing. So it has
it been weird in college football because usually historically you
lose your first game, or you lose a game at all,
and they're like, well they're done. But Clemson, Texas, heck
Notre Dame tonight. All these teams that lost in these
marquee matchups. It's kind of weird to say, oh, they lost,

(13:54):
don't count them out yet.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Right, yeah, right, No, But I still want to see
what Texas is going to do their next game. I
can't wait to see what kind of numbers they're gonna
put up with kind of numbers Arch Manning is going
to put.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Up why whenever they play East Popcorn State.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
You just can't wait to see what they do against
a terrible football team when you have the evidence of
what they do against a good football team.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
I saw that, But I want to see what, you know,
if they're gonna just go ahead and run it up,
run up the score, or what they're gonna do. Who
do they have San Jose State so they should score
for a gazillion points against them. I'm curious to see
what they do there. They don't have a very tough schedule,
so they'll get back on track pretty easily.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Well, I will say. I will say one thing.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
The one team that I'm still kind of in shock
that we're sitting here and saying I just don't give
up on them.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
Clemson makes sense. It was LSU.

Speaker 3 (14:42):
Texas makes sense on the road against the defending national champs.
No today makes sense, Arnie. Yeah, they went on the
road and just got beat by Miami. Don't give up
on No.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
I still wait, don't you, Dame?

Speaker 4 (14:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:53):
I still like them.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Alabama, that's the one that's hard to figure out for me.
From yesterday.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
What was at that was that was unbelievable. I've never
seen an Alabama team look so disorganized, so just non
Alabama ish. It just they just look horrible.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Well, did you watch the Vanderbilt game last year?

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (15:15):
I did you watch the game last year?

Speaker 2 (15:17):
Yeah? But this time that you know I saw? Did
you see that thing I sent you about the alumni,
some big time booster saying it was like the most
he's ever seen them, just out of whack before the game,
trying to get to the stadium and things were disorganized.
I don't know if that's true or not. I sent
that over to Ryan Fowler, But that was a bad.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
I want to stop here for a moment, okay. Arnie,
on a tweet that he found from a random Twitter account,
sent it to the guy who lives, eats, and breathes
Alabama football and covers it as his beat. As if
Ryan Fowler probably hasn't even hasn't already covered Andy bumped it.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
But you got your man's back. I appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
Yes he did debunky. You were right about that, You're
but here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
Here's the thing. Anymore, we don't check anything to see
if it's legit or not. If it fits the way
you're feeling, it's gonna go crazy and who knows.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
It might be.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
If I'm going to guarantee you Alabama boosters are pod
and they should be right now.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
You know, I know what my big prediction yesterday was.
First of all, what's the BUYO? Seventy million dollars?

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Is that? Is that really true?

Speaker 3 (16:26):
Or I don't know if it's like legally possible to
have a seventy million dollar.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Buy but you see that number all over the place.
But just let's just assume it is.

Speaker 4 (16:35):
A lot of money. I'm sure it is something.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Yeah, Because I'm sure it is. They'll buy him out
and then they'll rehire Nick Saban for like two or
three years and use that as a gap until they
get somebody else that they want.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
So when Nick Saban said, or when the rumors started
that Nick Saban was interested in getting back and coaching.
The big plot twist. What we didn't realize was that
it was Alabama.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
You heard it from me first. That's what's gonna happen.
They'll get rid of them and he'll the but Nick
Saban will come on back and save Alabama for about
two three years and then they'll get somebody else to
be like a coaching waiting.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
Yeah, Florida State flat output a whooping. He doing him
yesterday and ran the ball like crazy things you just
don't do historically against Alabama. All Right, We're just getting
started on a Sunday night into a Monday morning, and
gets what that Monday morning is. It's not just Labor Day,
al righty, it's game week. So we'll talk a little
NFL when we come back. Let's complete recap of the

Speaker 3 (18:46):
You consider this an upset tonight with Miami beating Notre Name.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
A little bit. It was only a two and a
half points spread. Notre Dame was favored by two and
a half, but I still maybe a little bit. Then
that spread indicates thought no today was gonna win the game.
My pick stinks so far this year.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
I thought you were mister college football.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
I'm off to a slow start.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
Who hurts you the most? What do you mean? Who
hurt me the most?

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Like?

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Which pick hurts you the most? Which one did you
look at that? You thought? Well?

Speaker 3 (19:17):
I know you you thought you had all of them?
But which one was your biggest?

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Miss?

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Alabama minus thirteen and a half against Florida State.

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Well, at least you weren't alone on that one.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Yeah, Clemson minus three and a half against LSU was
a loser?

Speaker 4 (19:30):
Wait, Clemson was? Clemson was minus five and a half?

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Oh was it?

Speaker 4 (19:34):
Where'd you get three and a half from?

Speaker 2 (19:36):
I think that was the line up last Sunday that
I gave it in Texas plus one and a half
against Ohio State.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
I'm just looking back over some of the numbers right now.
Your boys covered. How about that forty to six over Hawaii?
We looked so good.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
We've already clinched the Big twelve. We'll wipe up that
Boloney Conference.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
We congratulations? Yeah, hey, you.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Nothing says we're the dominant force in the league, like beating.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Well Hawaii was one and oh so we did beat
a team that was undefeated. And I looked at our schedule.
The only tough game we have is against BYU. Every
other game is just, I mean easy pickings.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
To be honest, you know the last time that you
did this was Miami, and you've had to change your
mind like five or six times.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
That was the NFL's different. I'm just telling you right now,
I'm already gonna have to write something to the bosses
to tell them I'm gonna be taking off during the
college playoffs so I can watch Arizona.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
We'll wy don't you go ahead and do it now? Hey, Scott,
let's look ahead. Give Barnie, give Barney the week off.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
I'm gonna need it all. Watch Arizona play.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
Okay, do it quick.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
If you're that confident, take the day off. We'll go
ahead and set for your filling on January or whatever.
The first round.

Speaker 4 (20:45):
Would I have the Saga filling for me? I'd love that.

Speaker 6 (20:49):
That.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
That's my dream, is what Arnie's out. It's just to
saga Mary Ian and I that's my dream. Wow, if
you're out is what I said. If you're taking the
day off, I'm fine. But if you're gonna take the
day off, quit talking about it and do it. Let's
be ready to do of course. I mean, look, please, book,
you beat Hawaii when you were a double digit favor
I should go ahead and take the championship weekend off

(21:10):
two because we beat Illinois State, Yeah, from Oklahoma.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
We were like a sixteen seventy point favorite, and we
crushed them. We looked like a whole different team. Wow,
we looked better than I could even imagine. A little
worried about the offense, I wish for Feita would have
passed for a little bit more. But that's okay, we'll
get the hang of it.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
By the way, that number for tonight's game did close
at three, so Miami was a three point dog and
the over under, oh how about this? The over underclosed
at fifty and a half.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
Ooh, fifty one.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
How about final score twenty seven? Twenty four? How about that?
And you know I was watching the early game today
that we haven't even talked about South Carolina and Virginia Tech.
That was that was ugly. And of course it ends
on a why I shouldn't say it ends. But the
big clinching moment is on a punt return for so
that was a good one, which was the ultimate you know,
and Beamer I.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
Rekick that too.

Speaker 2 (22:05):
That was a second kick though they had to rekick
that one.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
Shane Beemer, of course, is the head coach of South Carolina,
and that's Frank Beamer's son, who was a longtime head
coach of Virginia Tech. Kind of a Beamer Bowl, if
you will. And that was a seven point game. That
was a seven point spread for a long time if
you had VA Tech feeling pretty good, and then South
Carolina attacked on something late to win twenty four to eleven.
But is it just fair in putting that exclamation point

(22:29):
on all games but one from this week in Army
Army Biggest Surprise?

Speaker 4 (22:34):
Well how Forida? Well go ahead.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Well, I just want to say, because this just came
in from Josh on Twitter. Is he trying to tell
me that he hit a nineteen team parlay?

Speaker 4 (22:46):
I have no idea. Yeah, I don't know who Josh is.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
Well, he put it on Twitter. He said it to
me and he says, wrapped up my nineteen team parlay.
I think he was listening of my picks is what happened.
So wow, wow he nineteen picks he got them all right?
That's that's insane, man, that's crazy. I wonder how much

(23:11):
that pays. I wonder what the.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Money line parlays too, and the clinching one. Oh so
that was out, Carolina.

Speaker 4 (23:17):
That's easy. What are you talking about? You repicks? Right?

Speaker 2 (23:21):
If you're if you're doing moneyline and you're taking big
favorites and you're not laying the spread, then it's a
lot easier to win.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Well, of course it is, but I mean still nineteen
nineteen there's not a lot of there's not a lot
of risk in here.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
Though, I will say, do you want you want me to?

Speaker 2 (23:39):
I will bet you I could hit a ten team
money line parlay like this weekend.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
If I want to do im, just take that bet me,
just do it.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
But that's but does taking all the big favorites and
not laying you know, the line, it really doesn't pay
all that much.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
I mean, I'm sure that Josh made some money off
of nineteen teen parlay.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
I'm sure he did too, not as much as you think, though.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
Well then do I mean I'm thinking maybe what like
three hundred bucks.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
No, I'm thinking he probably made twenty or thirty to
one odds is probably something like that.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Well, depending on what he bet too. But you're guaranteeing
right now a ten team parlay.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Yeah, because there's a lot of in Week two, there's
a lot of teams that are like thirty and thirty
five and forty point favorite. So you just say they're
gonna win, they're gonna win, they're gonna win, and they're
gonna win, and you're just gonna do it.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
I don't understand why you wouldn't do that every single time.
I should call yourself the stinking genius.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
I should do the ten team money line parlay every
weekend too. Maybe that will start hitting.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Maybe that well, the bottom line that I was gonna
ask you, outside of you seeing something shiny in Joshua's
nineteen team parlay, what did what was your biggest takeaway?

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Mine was the domination of Florida State.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
The fact that Arch wasn't the greatest thing we've ever
seen out of the gates, which is understandable because it
was his first game as a full time starter and
some of you people need to chill out. I also
thought watching what LSU did defensively, with everything that LSU
had problems with last year on the defensive side of
the football in the last two years, to see how
they were able to slow down and frustrate Kide club nick.

(25:12):
I thought that was one of the bigger stories this week,
and as far as championship contender development, taking care of
an achilles seal, taking care of a problem.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
Yeah, no, no, I played the hits. Ohio State's defense
was like number one. I didn't think they were all
that good. I thought Texas was gonna be able to
put at least twenty one, twenty four, twenty eight points.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
On the board.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
Moved the ball, we'd start ripping them after the game, going, oh,
that Ohio States defense very suspect, but they were absolutely tremendous.
Did a great job on arch Banding.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
I'm with you on that.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
Pumped the brakes on him. You know, there'll be other games,
but right now they'll be all this scrutiny on him
until even the next game is not gonna save him
because they don't play anybody good. It's when they finally
played somebody good and he wins, maybe that will give
him a little bit of a wall.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
Hold On here, who had he played that was good?
That led to all the hype leading into this year.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Maybe he didn't know his last name.

Speaker 7 (26:09):
Do you know?

Speaker 3 (26:10):
Well, I'm you're acting like, well, they won't get too
hype because it's San Jose State. Have you seen the
way people are reacting this offseason to him off of
Mississippi State and UTSA. I mean, come on, Arnie, Louisiana, Monroe.
They're gonna lose their mind when he throws for three
hundred yards next year.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Oh, and it's gonna go back and he's the number
one pick. Oh, he's not the number one pick. This
is the number one pick. And you know he was
checking down so much. I guess I gotta get him
credit for that because he didn't want to throw an interception.
But he can't go nine for fifteen for what was
it thirty six yards at one point? That was And
I've never seen more four yard completions in my life

(26:46):
than what he was thrown out there. He needed to
open it up. I but you know, I blame Sarkisian
a lot more than anybody in this game. I don't
think he had a good game plan. He didn't put
manning in a good chance to succeed and should have
the field a little bit by stretching it by throwing
deep a couple of times. So you know, I gotta
blame him a lot also on what happened.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
Sorry, I forgot about the update at the bottom of
the hour. We've rolled past it up.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
I was working late last night and I forgot about
to Saga and getting us caught up in what's training.
But listen, I want to get back to arch here
when we come back, because I think there is a
crazy overreaction that's happening. And something took place with Sarkesian
that I wasn't aware of yesterday. But first, Steve Sager
has us caught up with everything that's going on in
the world of sports.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
What's up, Steve? Hello, gentlemen.

Speaker 8 (27:33):
And you did reference the Miami kicker this year, Carter
Davis not being good. I looked up the stats as
he was spending the last three years at Florida Atlantic,
four of eleven on field goals for his college career,
and that included last season for FAU when all of
his attempts were from forty yards and beyond and he
was two for seven. So here, Miami tonight, running the

(27:56):
ball conservatively with under two minutes to go in a
tie game against the Irish, making Notre Dames defense use
all of their timeouts, and then Miami asked this kicker
to boot a forty seven yarder for the lead trail tonight.
What a check, good, Sean McDonough on ABC the call.

(28:19):
It wound up the difference twenty seven to twenty four.
Miami preseason number ten beats number six Notre Dame, and
that means that the Irish program has now lost seven
straight road games against the Hurricanes, dating back to the
nineteen seventies.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Wow.

Speaker 8 (28:34):
And more to the point, this weekend. If you look
at the preseason top eight, four of the eight have
lost their opener this weekend. Not only Texas that you mentioned,
Clemson lost, Notre Dame lost tonight, Alabama was beaten yesterday.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Wow. Wow.

Speaker 8 (28:50):
So with about a minute ago, forty seven yarder does
the trick the Irish In.

Speaker 7 (28:54):
That top eight, there's talk about pumping. The Irish had
just ted it on a touchdown with about three and
a half minutes left. So Notre Dame will host Texas,
A and M in two weeks, Miami in three weeks
will host Florida. There was a game in Atlanta and
they still got it after a bye. Right after that,
they got Florida State on the schedule in Atlanta. Today,

(29:15):
thirteenth ranks South Carolina beat Virginia Tech twenty four to eleven.
South Carolina led ten to eight early in the fourth
quarter when it ran back a punt eighty yards for
a score. The Dallas Cowboys gave defensive back to Ron
Bland a four year extension. WNBA wins for LA and
Golden State. At the US Open in New York, Number
four seed Jessica Pagula won her fourth round match Number

(29:36):
one Arena Sabolenka, a winner. Tonight NASCAR's Southern five hundred
went to Chase Briscoe. Tyler Reddick was second. This was
the playoff opener. Joseph Newgarden took the IndyCar season finale
at Nashville. The series champion was Alex Pulow, who finished
second in today's race. Tonight's ball game at Philadelphia went
to the Brave Stealing won three to one with a

(29:56):
run in the eighth and a two run homer in
the ninth. Today, the Phillies agreed to a minor league
deal with pitcher Walker Buehler, who was just cut by
Boston a couple of days ago. Miami beat the Mets
five to one in New York. Cincinnati over Saint Louis
seven to four. The Reds are four games out of
the last NL Wildcard behind the New York Mets. The
Dodgers won on a walk off solo homer by pinch

(30:18):
hitter Will Smith five to four over Arizona. The Padres
loss seven to two at Minnesota, So the Dodger lead
in the NL West two games over the Padres.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Back to you, thanks Steve Boy Walker Buehler. What a
fall right from being the World Series hero. I still
love that guy, well, I mean I still do. He
won the World Series for the Dodgers to finding out
he had this massive back tattoo, which was a bit
of a shocker to me. During the World Series Champagne
celebration two.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
I mean, would you say picked him up to Sacre today?
That was I mean, each side.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
The massive deal with the Red Sox, right, I was,
I was smad. I was mad about it. Now he
gets cut and he ends up finding a job with
the Phillies. With the Phillies well, it's not bad not
a bad up, Grady. Maybe I should quit feeling sorry
from him in his fall from grace.

Speaker 4 (31:08):
It's not like he.

Speaker 8 (31:09):
Said, you know what the Phillies need at this point,
they need exactly what he did at the end of
the World Series. Can you get three outs? Can anybody
out there get three outs? The Phillies are such a
good team and they have nothing at the back end.
It's stunning.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Seven seven is seven this year, the five point four
to five e R eighty four case.

Speaker 8 (31:28):
And still collecting checks from Boston.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
Still making so much money from Boston. Hey, what's your
intrigue level like tomorrow night for Bill Belichick's debut at
North Carolina.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
It is a college football.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
It is pretty high because I think TCU is a
pretty good team, and so Bill's going to have it,
you know, quite the challenge.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
You know, they're in the Big twelve, that stinky Big
twelve that you were just bragging.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Yeah, I'm not worry. I'm not worried about TCU. But
I'll tell you, I don't know if Bill's going to
be ready for the college game. I'm curious to see
how it's gonna go for him, how his demeanor's gonna
be on the sideline. I'm only tuning into this game
for one reason and one reason. Alwaits to see how
Bill does, how his team does, if he got him ready,
how they look like, what he looks like. So otherwise

(32:16):
maybe I would have it on, but not paying, you know,
real much attention to it. I'm watching it because I
want to see what Belichick does.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
Is I think I'm gonna be curious to see what
it looks like when he I g if he has success,
will it be something that draws people.

Speaker 4 (32:33):
I don't think it'll be coach.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Prime like right, But I mean, for instance, I was
joking earlier about you know, we've got our buddy Sean Shady. Sewan,
who is one of the biggest contributors on Twitter to
the program Fox Sports Radio, hates college football, like despite,
I don't know how people can hate something that I
love so much.

Speaker 4 (32:51):
It's crazy.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
But yet the Northeast is very similar Arnie, right, I mean,
we I'm still shocked whenever I'll tune into like a
New York radio station and they're just losing their minds
over baseball, and I'm.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
Like, right, did you guys not see that? Crazy?

Speaker 2 (33:06):
LSU Clemson game, but they lose their NFL up here
in the Northeast dollars.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
And then that's my point, ding ding ding, How could
you have something that is in me, in my my
kind of NFL light with maybe even more passionate fans
and you just thumb your nose at it, like I've
never truly understood that. So, with all of that in mind,
could Bill Belichick, if he has success in North Carolina
create a bit of a bridge to like the Northeast

(33:30):
for college football? Is that making too much of what
kind of impact he could out?

Speaker 4 (33:34):
I think it is.

Speaker 2 (33:35):
I got to give Diad more credit for what he's
done with Colorado.

Speaker 4 (33:37):
He deserves it all.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Yeah, absolutely, But no, I don't think I think people
will pay attention. They'll kind of sit up and take notice,
but it's not like they're gonna be all this. Otherbody's
gonna be ordering North Carolina shirts like they did Colorado stuff,
and you know, maybe they'll be on TV a little
bit more, but otherwise I don't think it's gonna be
like a big swell of fans around the country jumping

(34:00):
on the North Carolina bandwagon.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
I don't think that's gonna happen. All right, hit us
up on Twitter. That's at Stinking Genius One. That's Arnie.
I'm at Plank Show. Everyone go follow us at Fox
Sports Radio when we come back. We'll catch them with
your reaction on the X tonight and Todd Furman as
we dive into the NFL and something shocking happened. We'll
tell you about it next right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
All right, it's already in Plank. Come to you live
for the Fox Sports Radio studios. To your tweets and
let you have anything from the Roman numeral rundown you
wanted to hit.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
First, I threw to any interest in Roman numeral number
twenty five, oh, because we get in what No, you don't.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
Like going to twenty five this early? Well, I was
just curious if you liked it.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Did you ever have a chance to look at it?

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Every since you sent me the Roman numeral rundown that
had the kid as the tuba player punching someone whenever
it was like four years ago, I kind of tuned
out the Roman numun chat GPT Patriots.

Speaker 2 (35:06):
Predict no chat CHBT predicts the next fifty Super Bowls okay,
and the Dolphins in Las Vegas didn't have any. But
the funny part about the whole thing is they gave
Super Bowls the teams that don't even exist.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
Oh yeah, yeah, like they're I guess keep working on
that chat cheapt technology then.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
Yeah, because no, like they they must think they're going
to be like expansion teams. So in twenty sixty three,
the team in Paris is going to win, and in
twenty seventy the Archers whatever they are, they're gonna win,
but the Dolphins can't win in the next fifty years.
The Dolphins in Mexico City, the team there is going

(35:51):
to win Super Bowl in twenty fifty one, but the
Dolphins are not gonna win one Super Bowl in the
next fifty years.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
So you know, it's kind of funny.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Is I used to play a lot of Madden nineteen, Yeah,
because I don't know, it's like the last Madden I bought,
and I would play it a lot. And the very
first expansion team if you played the franchise mode, was
a team in Mexico City. Yeah, it's just they they
would always move that like the Chargers of the Bengals
to Mexico City, So maybe there's something.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
To I mean, they're given the Archers the Archers. I
guess the Toronto team in twenty forty eight is going
to win the Super Bowl before they have the Jets
winning the Super Bowl in twenty fifty eight, before the
Dolphins twenty fifties.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
So thirty three years from.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
Now, the Jets are gonna win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (36:40):
Would Jason Smith still be able to celebrate it with
Mike Harmon if they won it in thirty three years
from today?

Speaker 4 (36:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (36:47):
Oh yeah, why not? Yeah? Of course?

Speaker 4 (36:49):
Well, I mean, like, is he gonna be on the
air when he's like eighty eight years old or what?

Speaker 2 (36:53):
How does he now?

Speaker 3 (36:54):
Yeah he is, I would imagine it in his fifties. Yeah,
but they still didn't give one to the Raiders. Dolphins,
now get the Archers one before they gave us one.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
The Cowboys got one in twenty sixty five, they even
got one, but not to our Dolphins or our Raiders
zero Jaguars in twenty seventy one. They gave one to
the San Antonio Spurs in twenty seventy two. What did
they make the switch over for THEPA?

Speaker 4 (37:22):
Did you just do this on your own or was
this a story?

Speaker 2 (37:25):
No, I saw chat GBT or whatever GPT predicted it.
I didn't predict it.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
Let's see it says here who even put this? They've
got the Oh they did this again last year. You're
falling for the same thing they do every single year.
Like gosh, arnie, they did one of these last.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
Year as well too.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Let me see here the fifty Super Bowls? Is that?

Speaker 3 (37:49):
Yeah, well this one actually had the next twenty five,
so this didn't. This didn't go as deep as yours did.
But they they did leave out our Dolphins and.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
Rate as well too.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
But Bangels winning in twenty eight. They've got the Bills
in twenty nine and the Lions in thirty. Could you
imagine twenty thirty at least in this with thirty two
the Jaguars winning the Super Bowl? What that would look
like doing it before either one of our teams did.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
I'd be sick to my stomach over that. If Expansion
wins it before my Dolphins won it.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
At Steak and Genius wanted Plank show, Colin Wright's interested
to see if any of Belichick's success will draw fans
intrigue to college football and North Carolina, like coach Prime
has so much as students wanting to play there to
help them get drafted in the NFL. Okay, so his
point is didn't do a good job on the read there,
My bad, right, But his point is will it also

(38:46):
help North Carolina and wanting to get guys helping to
get guys that can be developed for the next level.
You're making a lot of money in in Aisle, You're
making life changing money, but the real paydays are in
college football.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Excuse me, but the real payding on He's still in
the NFL.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
So might people also if they see some success from
Bill Belichick say, hey, dude, nobody in the college game
is going to be able to develop us more for
the NFL than Bill Belichick.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
Could that be a draw? It could be a draw.
But how long is he going to coach at North Carolina? Though?
Isn't his son the coach in waiting? So is that
does that count? Also saying well he could hook up
through his dad and get us hooked up to the NFL,
or that doesn't count in your opinion?

Speaker 3 (39:27):
Well, I mean I don't. I don't think there's a
designation of coaching waiting at North Carolina. Oh so it's
not his son, then, well, no, I just I don't
think that they gave him that title.

Speaker 4 (39:39):
I got you, But I see what you're saying.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
If he's there three years, if he's there four years,
I mean, you're staying in college anymore for college football, right,
I mean, at the very least, to go there for
the opportunity to a play, be make a little money
now and see if it's Bill Belichick get developed for
the next level. Maybe it's on to something. He's gonna
be drawing people in. Maybe it will be more development

(40:04):
for the NFL. I don't think he's gonna be there
that long. I think it could be a year to
year basis. Maybe somebody in the NFL is gonna open
up a job and he's going to accept it and
decide to take off and let his son run North Carolina.
So I think it's a year to year basis for him.
But again, his son is not the head coach in waiting,
so there's not an agreement like that.

Speaker 4 (40:24):
And no, I know that, I know that the athletic.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
Director that hired Bill Belichick isn't even the athletic director anymore.
Like there's a completely different World Now in North Carolina,
Jason B. Diamond Catholics versus Convicts was probably the best
game of the weekend.

Speaker 4 (40:40):
Do you agree? Oh?

Speaker 2 (40:41):
Absolutely, that was. That was a lot of fun. It was,
like I said, it was twenty one to seven. I
thought there were I go, oh, it's gonna be like
a thirty four to ten final and we're gonna make
fun of Brady Quinn and it's gonna be a big laugh.
But no, it was. It was a good game. It
was a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
I do like in your rundown here for Ohio State
and Texas, the term snooze fest is listed. So all right,
when we come back to the National Football League, Todd
Furman is right around the corner.

Speaker 4 (41:09):
You got Arnie's picks coming up.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
And after the preseason and week one of the college
football season, we know this.

Speaker 4 (41:15):
We're diving to it next. On Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio our two ARENI
comany live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. How was Saturday?
You've become kind of regular now on Saturday night?

Speaker 4 (41:30):
Are you back?

Speaker 2 (41:31):
I think no, no, no, I think that was my
last filling. Now football started, so I'm back on my
one day a week, Sunday schedule. That's it.

Speaker 4 (41:39):
That was.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
That was a lot of filling this summer. We did
a lot of filling, you know.

Speaker 4 (41:42):
Yeah, we did. We did. It was fun. It was fun.

Speaker 3 (41:44):
So now you I still say this is everyone take
all your days, Take every day you can.

Speaker 4 (41:49):
I'm not here to judge, but it is college football.

Speaker 3 (41:53):
It's got to get to the point where everyone stops
taking off the week of the first game.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
I know, that's crazy.

Speaker 4 (41:59):
What do you people do?

Speaker 2 (42:00):
So much villain? There was so much villid this Saturday.

Speaker 4 (42:04):
It was.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
It was insane. The greatest four schedules.

Speaker 4 (42:08):
You know, it's the greatest week of the year.

Speaker 3 (42:11):
All right, let me get a couple of these tweets
at Stinker Genius one. I'm at Plank Show. Uh So,
basically I lay out that only had Saturday night because
you had Saturday night. I was on in for Bernie
last night. So we've all we've all been able to
get all of our Michael Parson stuff out right right right,
there's nothing more we need to add to this.

Speaker 4 (42:29):
I just want to to death.

Speaker 2 (42:31):
We talked at to death. I just wanted to get
the final numbers. How much did you over in the season.
Win total change. Week one lines change, uh, divisional lines change,
super Bowl odds change. I'm kind of curious. I wonder
who had the Packers before the trade at a pretty
good price or pretty good odds now that they're real
happy that they got Micah Parsons. So I mostly numbers.

(42:53):
I'll ask Todd when he comes joined.

Speaker 4 (42:56):
Didn't move much.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
I'm not sure. To be honest, I'm not sure. The
over onder win totals never go more than maybe a
half game to a game, so you know that does it?
With the line, I'm kind of curious how the line
changed with Philadelphia and the Cowboys. It's seven and a
half now. I don't know what it was before the
before the trade.

Speaker 3 (43:18):
This is according to let's see here bet MGM, eighty
percent of the money is still on the defending Super
Bowl champions Eagles to cover. Yeah, the Cowboys were seven
point underdog. That number got bet to seven and a half.

Speaker 2 (43:35):
That's it, you know, you for a guy that's so great. Yeah,
I always wonder how it's only a half point when
somebody like that is not in the lineup or is
not going to play in the game.

Speaker 4 (43:45):
I never quite Well, here's the other part of it.

Speaker 3 (43:48):
The number was previously as low as six and a half,
so it was a little lower when I was like, hey,
he might play he might not play right, right, so
that I don't know if it affected the Packers over under.

Speaker 4 (44:00):
Here you go.

Speaker 3 (44:02):
In the opening weekend, they went from being a point
a half underdog against the Lions green Bay.

Speaker 4 (44:07):
Wait, is that right? Green Bay is now a two
and a half point favorite.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
Yeah, yeah, that's correct. I think you're right about.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
That, says BETEMGM opened them as a one and a
half point underdog against the Lions and the season opener
on September seventh. Since the edition of Parsons, green Bays
now two and a half point favorite. However, the sportsbook
didn't note that seventy four percent of that money is
on the Lions to cover.

Speaker 2 (44:29):
I added Green Bay in my prediction to win to
go to the super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (44:33):
The odds.

Speaker 3 (44:33):
The odds for a Green Bay to go to the
Super Bowl went from plus twenty two hundred to plus
thirteen hundred.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
Wow, from twenty two to one to thirteen to one.
That's a significant drop, Chris. That's a big time drop there.

Speaker 3 (44:46):
With twenty five percent of the bets and eleven percent
of the money being wagered for the Packers to actually
walk away with the Lombardi Trophy. ESPN bet saw the Packers'
odds go from very similar twenty to one to fourteen
to one after the trade, and their odds to win
the NFC went from plus eleven hundred to plus six fifty,
including twenty nine percent of the bets to accomplish that fee. Wow,

(45:10):
it made an impact on the batting market at the
very least. Yeah, you're right. We'll talk to Todd about
that coming out.

Speaker 2 (45:15):
No, I just want you to know, just since you
brought it up, I just want to say I think
Jerry made the right move. You know how I am
when I have to pay somebody, especially when it's not
a quarterback, and I to make somebody the highest paid
non quarterback in the NFL. I wasn't winning with the guy.
I didn't think they were gonna win this year anyway.
You had a different perspective. But let's just say I

(45:36):
was right. And you know he has missed what how
many games did he missed last year? Four or five
or well, whatever it is, he's missed games. I can't
pay one hundred and eighty six or what two hundred
million dollars guaranteed for somebody like that? Give me the
two draft picks. Matter of fact, I don't wouldn't take
anybody in return. I would have gotten three first round

(45:56):
draft picks, and I'm sure I could have weaseledo.

Speaker 3 (45:58):
Wait, well, look you said I they weren't offering three
first round picks.

Speaker 2 (46:02):
I know, I'm sure I could have weaseled it.

Speaker 4 (46:04):
No, you couldn't have.

Speaker 2 (46:05):
No, you don't think so. But what San Francisco had
to give up the get tray lance for Cride out Loud.
I would have figured something out. But the two is
good and they'll rebuild from that. I don't know if
there's stockpiling. Everybody's talking about dollars a stuck piling for
arch Manning after Saturday's game. I wouldn't be stockpiling.

Speaker 3 (46:23):
For Why would anyone say that you hadn't seen arch
Manning play a freaking game?

Speaker 4 (46:30):
Because it's a good narrative.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
That's why. That's why, Chris, that's it's a good narrative
to have him on the Cowboys. Can you imagine?

Speaker 4 (46:36):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (46:37):
I'm just blown away by this. Yeah, they had Jimmy
Haslam and Andrew Barry at the game. They kept showing him,
and then Arch sales an incomplete pass and he throws
a pick, and suddenly everyone's like, oh, well, hey, maybe
maybe this isn't a situation where we need to have
this many people out here wondering if he's going to
be the number one overall pick, why would the Cowboys

(46:57):
want Arch Manning they have Dak Prescott.

Speaker 2 (46:59):
Well, you know, by the time he got out and
was ready to play, it'd be what about three years
down the line, So just the air apparent to Dak Prescott,
I'm guessing.

Speaker 3 (47:08):
But I love this idea that you think that Kenny
Clark was something they got instead of another first round
pick in this deal.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
Yeah, I would have got a third round give you
a three, give you a three first round draft picks.

Speaker 4 (47:21):
They were getting three first round picks.

Speaker 3 (47:23):
But if you want to say they should have got
a second round pick, or if they should have instead
of if there was a way to get like a
third round pick, I mean, I I'll listen to that.

Speaker 2 (47:32):
How about two number ones and two number twos? How
about that?

Speaker 3 (47:36):
Again, I don't think Kenny Clark was that big of
a part of this to where they gave up the
opportunity to have a second or third round pick for him,
right right? I mean, look at even with the Raiders,
whenever they traded for Khalil Mack, it was two first
round picks and then a bunch of the Raiders had
to give up a second round pick in order to
get a third.

Speaker 4 (47:54):
Were you guys hot and heavy to get to get
him or no? With that? Was that?

Speaker 2 (47:58):
Was that bad reporting there? For Las Vegas?

Speaker 3 (48:03):
I think Las Vegas was in on him absolutely. I
think they ran on him. I think Las Vegas was
in on him. I think Denver was talked about as
being in on him. I think I who was it?
I think I saw Benjamin Albright had a reported a
couple of other teams. I think Carolina was a team
that was calling about him. Yes, I mean why not?
You know, if you feel like you can get a
guy that Michael parisons with Max Crosby would have been fun.

(48:26):
But Michael Parsons with her Shaun Gary is going to
be wild. Here here's from a Packers fan perspective, you
had any Yeah, Colin Wright's pack fan for thirty or
more years, never liked trading players and picks for a player.
Can I jump in there real quick? Packers don't do
this either, right, Reggie White was a free agent signing right.

(48:47):
Brett Favre was a trade, but it was you know,
they Aaron Rodgers walked away. I guess that was a
trade in a roundabout way. But like them making the
deal to go get somebody, it's just not I mean,
they don't draft receivers in the first round, so they
got Golden this year.

Speaker 4 (49:04):
They just don't go out and make deals like this.
So what do you think was.

Speaker 2 (49:08):
The final push that made Jerry say enough is enough?
You know they're talking about the podcast, but I don't
think that was a final push today. I guess Dak
Prescott was not a fan of Micah Parsons podcast, so
that bothered him. I think what happened. I think it
was over when it got personal between Jerry and Micah Parsons.

(49:30):
I think that's when Jerry said we got to go
ahead and figure a way to trade him. Maybe because
it's it's not gonna work out is maybe it's not
gonna work out, Man Collins text. Our tweet continues with
this hype gone feels like compensating for some poor drafting.
Parsons can play great, but hasn't showed up consistently when
it matters. Hopefully he will get to that next level

(49:51):
in the Packers defensive system.

Speaker 4 (49:53):
Good or bad, Brian Gooden kissed his laying it all
on the line.

Speaker 3 (49:56):
The expectations should be at minimum NFC championship by next season.
If Love doesn't rebound from last year and Parsons can't
play lights out, fans should be calling for Goot to
be out. Hey, they're going all in Arnie on the
Packer's side. You gotta appreciate it on that front.

Speaker 2 (50:13):
Oh, I'm sure everybody's picking the Packers. They're gonna be
everybody's starting that division.

Speaker 4 (50:17):
You just said you're picking them to go to the
super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (50:20):
Yeah, but well, I'm jumping on the bandwagon like everybody else.
But I want you to know that division is just
a beast. That is with the Bears at the bottom.
I used to think that maybe the Bears can make
a little bit of run in that division. There's no
place for them to move on up. I maybe if
Minnesota faulters a little bit, But with the Lions in
Green Bay, that division is top heavy, no doubt about.

Speaker 4 (50:41):
That little college football here.

Speaker 3 (50:45):
This was from mister nobody, who, by the way, I
keep forgetting about this. We actually have a fairly decent
faction of Florida State fans and college football.

Speaker 4 (50:55):
Fans at checking regularly. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (50:57):
Yeah, it's shocking say something bad about them in their win.
You'll find out, mister nobody, FSU was ready to play
Alabama wasn't.

Speaker 4 (51:06):
They were undisciplined.

Speaker 3 (51:07):
The Bama freshman quarterback Ty Simpson played like a freshman
against a revamped and hungry Seminal defense, and Gus Malzon
showed he can still coach against Alabama. Well, I think
it's impossible, mister nobody, for you to give Gus males
On any credit because he is an offensive coordinator, and
as Arnie has told me, offensive coordinators and defensive coordinators
don't matter.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
Oh, are you gonna throw me that back in my face?
By the way, did you see Castell?

Speaker 4 (51:30):
Would you say it a lot and you say it
all the time and you're wrong?

Speaker 2 (51:34):
Did you see Castellanas had a came up with a shirt.
Did you see with that shirt? I sent it to
you on Twitter?

Speaker 4 (51:40):
Or was that real?

Speaker 2 (51:42):
Yeah? No, that was not a fake account.

Speaker 4 (51:44):
Okay, that one that said Nick's not gonna save you guys.

Speaker 2 (51:47):
Yeah, he said that on a podcast or a radio
interview or something to that effect. He really didn't say that.

Speaker 3 (51:55):
No, I will add this, I don't know as a quarterback.
Sixteen carries seventy eight yards, but I don't know completing
nine passes if I'm talking too much, johnk But hey,
he complained passes for one hundred and fifty two yards
and maybe the snot out of them. So maybe you
talked that talk all you want. I'm still floored by Arnie.

(52:18):
They didn't just beat Alabama. They dominated Alabama.

Speaker 2 (52:22):
They did, and they were able to run the ball
against them too. Like I said in our number one,
they were really just running it right down their throats.
Alabama didn't have an answer for them. I did not
think that Alabama was going to get back in the
game the way forward to state look uh.

Speaker 3 (52:37):
And by the way, one more for mister nobody said,
let's not forget Lee Corso did pick my seminals to
beat Alabama yesterday made the win even nicer.

Speaker 2 (52:46):
Lee was on fire. Corso was on fire.

Speaker 3 (52:48):
Late night drug tester said, is the reason that Arnie's
picks at the end of the show have been missing
from the podcast is because his winning rate is below
the Mendoza line.

Speaker 4 (52:57):
Are you having them cut your picks out of them?
Why are you guys that bad?

Speaker 2 (53:01):
Why are you guys not putting my picks on the podcast?
I don't understand, because there's with you guys.

Speaker 4 (53:07):
So they're saving you. You know what they're doing.

Speaker 2 (53:09):
If they don't, if I start doing bad, I may
have to go over to Planks picks or the producer's picks,
or Mary's mellow picks or something.

Speaker 4 (53:19):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (53:20):
I trying to make it rhyme, but it's not happening.

Speaker 4 (53:22):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (53:23):
Every single year we try to do this, you tell
us that the bounce back is coming.

Speaker 4 (53:27):
It's coming here. It comes, well, not with.

Speaker 2 (53:29):
The lost of Notre Dame. I'm five and six on
the year in college in college football, but the NFL
will start. You know, I'm the king of.

Speaker 3 (53:37):
And technically, technically you're like five and eight because you
wiped out a game that you said shouldn't matter.

Speaker 2 (53:43):
That doesn't count. That one didn't count.

Speaker 4 (53:45):
Right exactly, even though you had picked it.

Speaker 3 (53:46):
So you're not you're technically three games under five hundred,
but whatever you need to do to make it feel better, Paul.

Speaker 4 (53:51):
Right.

Speaker 3 (53:51):
So if I line a tweet that I want a
thirty game parlay Onnie will read it on the air
as if it's true.

Speaker 2 (53:57):
Well, he sent a screen shot of it of the
nineteen team probably, But I said this, and I'm not
kidding around. It's not as impressive as he makes it
out to be because he took a bunch of favorites
without late like Navy was minus twenty thousand, Pittsburgh mightas
twenty thousand to beat through Caine.

Speaker 4 (54:21):
What was Tarleton State to beat Army?

Speaker 2 (54:24):
Did he have Tarlton State? I didn't see it.

Speaker 3 (54:26):
Now, I'm just saying our Army to beat Tarleton State.
I mean, these upsets happened, Arnie. I mean you you're
acting like I think it's impressive to hit nineteen games,
to be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
Now, when you're taking big for like I said, I
could do it, I could, I could do it. I
could do it tonight. Nope, Okay, do it tonight. I'll
do it tonight for you. And he took Arizona because
they were a big favorite over Hawaii. So it's not
the most impressive, no Arlee, But I mean I could.
I could do it every week. I could do it
every week, but you don't. I'll ask Todd about it.

(54:56):
Let me see what Todd has to say.

Speaker 3 (54:57):
You could say that you you could do it every week,
and that's great. I could run a marathon before every
show if I won, because it's not that tough. It's
not that tough to just take it, to do it
like a bunch of I think it's hard for you.
I think you're terrible at picks. I think, wow, what
are you talking about. I just think you're bad at it.

Speaker 4 (55:14):
And so, okay, you know what I'll easy.

Speaker 3 (55:16):
I'll tell you're showing us that you have You're you
quit preseason picks after two weeks, you're under five hundred
by two games, and you don't claim two of your losses.

Speaker 2 (55:24):
Maybe I'll take Texas instead of laying the thirty five
and a half Texas to beat San Jose State, Penn State,
instead of laying forty one and a half to beat
Florida International.

Speaker 4 (55:38):
You get where I'm coming from.

Speaker 2 (55:39):
Indiana nineteen, get Indiana to beat Kenansas State.

Speaker 4 (55:45):
I mean, it's it's a piece of kegame. You've got
like three of nineteen A.

Speaker 2 (55:48):
Right, Texas Tech instead of laying the forty eight and
a half, they'll beat Ken State. So that's another win
out there.

Speaker 4 (55:55):
Okay, you've got fifteen more to go.

Speaker 2 (55:57):
A and m over Utah State. So how many Ohio
State over Grambling, Georgia over Austin p I mean, Tennessee
over East Tennessee State, day, Miami over Bethune Cookman, you're
you got ten more to go. I'll stop at ten.

(56:19):
LSU over Louisiana attack. How about that? So there you go, Well, go.

Speaker 3 (56:25):
Hit your ten team parlay then Arnie go go showing on.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
There you go. My present from me to the listeners. Peace, Okay,
I get you watch.

Speaker 4 (56:34):
At least two of those will end up being wrong.
So it's gonna get like Louisiana.

Speaker 2 (56:38):
Tillet impossible, impossible.

Speaker 4 (56:41):
Don't say that.

Speaker 3 (56:43):
You would have been telling us it was impossible that
Florida State was gonna beat Alabama.

Speaker 2 (56:46):
Oh that's a different story. That's a whole different thing.
That's why, well in Florida State's a major brand. It's
not like but you were telling us it was impossible
for Alabama. It's not like they were only a fourteenth point.
They were they weren't a forty seven or something like that.

Speaker 3 (57:02):
So you're telling me that you put the area where
a team has a chance to win a game at
fourteen and a half points.

Speaker 2 (57:08):
Oh yeah, that's very doable. That's that's you know, it's
an upset, but it's still doable.

Speaker 3 (57:13):
Okay, a couple of others here. You just just accept
that you have not been good at this. You have
the five hundred NFL three games under five.

Speaker 2 (57:23):
You know, the NFL is my king, you know, I'm
the king of the end.

Speaker 3 (57:26):
You keep doing this, you sound like an addict. It's
a wow season is the free season? And then you
quit that again. Then you're the king of college and
you're three games under five hundred.

Speaker 2 (57:34):
I only have two picks for college next week. I
have one, two, three, six for the NFL.

Speaker 3 (57:39):
Well, I mean, there you go. There's your nineteen parlay
right there. Uh, let's see, there was one more here
that I wanted to get you. Oh yeah, Nick Wright's
hard to believe that the Cowboys couldn't even win one
as long as chat GPT was projecting it, or as
long as Jerry Jones is in charge.

Speaker 4 (57:54):
That's true. When did they have Dallas winning their Super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (57:57):
I think they have Dallas winning one or two in
the next fifty years. I'm gonna pull it back up.

Speaker 4 (58:03):
You'll have to look at what you hear. That was.
I can't fathom them winning the other one.

Speaker 2 (58:09):
Actually, they had them winning in twenty thirty four and
twenty sixty five. So at least you have two super
Bowls in fifty years. At least you got that to
look forward to.

Speaker 3 (58:22):
Yeah, and then one more. Here Paul writes my super
Bowl prediction. This is the year Bills beat the Niners.
Thirty eight thirty three. Josh Allen does just enough to
overcome Sean mcdermot's coach.

Speaker 2 (58:32):
If the Niners go to the super Bowl, I'll take you. Okay,
how about that. That's not happening, all right.

Speaker 3 (58:38):
So there you go, Paul, if the Niners go to
the super Bowl, regardless of the other part of your prediction,
Arnie just said he will take you to the super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Who did you have going Niners?

Speaker 4 (58:49):
And who Bills?

Speaker 2 (58:50):
Oh, the Bills could be a possibility, though.

Speaker 3 (58:52):
I think the Niners might be pretty good too, if
they stay healthy. But we'll see. We got picks coming up,
in fact, speaking to that Todd firm, and it's right
around the corner on Fox Sports. Ready all night. It's
game week for the NFL. One week down in college football.
We're joined by our numbers spread gambling expert Todd Furman
is in the house. Todd, what a start to the

(59:14):
college football season. Biggest surprise Florida State and what they
did Alabama or something else catch your eye?

Speaker 9 (59:20):
No, I think it has to be the Seminals who
showed a little bit of moxie. Thomas Castiano talked a
big game all offseason, and there's Florida State bouncing back
from a two to ten disappointing campaign last year, not
just beating Alabama outright as a two touch and underdog,
but really controlling both the offensive and defensive lines of scrimmage.
I think it's a major red flag for this Alabama team.
I know you don't want to overreact to just one

(59:41):
data point, but it was only a year ago where
Florida State looked like they were a little bit manhandled
disjoined it in their season opener, and we know how
quickly that season got off the rails. Kalin de Bor
has got a very difficult job on his hands, and
it's not coincidence that Alabama has now lost each of
the last four games outright, guys where they've been more
than a thirteen point favorite.

Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
Todd, is this a big deal? Somebody sent us a
screenshot they hit a nineteen team college football parlay, but
I said, it wasn't that impressive because he took like
all the big favorites on the money line. So that's
like me taking next week Texas to be San Jose State,
Penn State to be Ford International, Indiana to be Kenansas State.

(01:00:21):
I mean, what kind of odds could you get on
something like that?

Speaker 4 (01:00:23):
You know, it.

Speaker 9 (01:00:24):
All depends on the pricing, but no, it's not like
a traditional nineteen leg parlay where it's essentially a coin
flip at minus a dollar ten both ways. So I'm
sure the odds reflect that. But there are people that
are looking for action in a variety of capacities. Do
I think it's a long term winning strategy, Absolutely, categorically
one percent not. But there are people that are going
to try and reinvent the wheel or find ways to

(01:00:47):
think that they can out smart the mass that sports
books typically put in place to keep it from gaining
a true competitive edge if they're going to tie multiple
games together.

Speaker 3 (01:00:55):
See, people like Arnie are the problem because like, oh yeah,
that's easy. I could do it any other time. The
next thing, you know, I just.

Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
Gave you ten teams that are gonna win the money. Okay,
go play it, then I'm good.

Speaker 4 (01:01:05):
I will.

Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
But it's only gonna be like five to one or something.

Speaker 3 (01:01:08):
So I mean, that's my favorite thing. Is I mean
taught to me, that's like a problematic mindset. It's like, well,
I'm not gonna make a lot of money on this,
so I'm not going to bet it. I mean, it's
still a win. I don't know why that's.

Speaker 9 (01:01:19):
Not a bit Welcome to this. Welcome to the state
of legalized sports gambling across the country and why a
lot of the national books can report astronomical hold percentages
that rival that of penny slots, more so than what
I grew accustomed to behind the counter in the old days,
when we were happy to make five cents on the
dollar for every sports bet that came across. Fifteen cents
in the dollar is what keeps some of these suits

(01:01:40):
in business and allows them to offer, you know, ridiculous
markets and it's a different discussion for a different day, gentlemen.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
It was it a tough week in college football and
week number one for the for the sharps out there
or what todd.

Speaker 9 (01:01:53):
You know, every sharp to handle things a little bit different,
and so you're talking about week one numbers that have
been on the board for a long period of time.
All it takes is and a couple of middles that
are out there. I can tell you from a public standpoint,
it was not a good week for the general public
that wanted to gravitate towards some of the marquee programs,
that looked to lay the points with Alabama betting Texas,
you know, as an underdog, thinking that that game was

(01:02:14):
going to be stealing, trying to lay the points with
Clemson that I know was the hot team coming into
the year, looking a back Notre Dame on the road
tonight against they rebuilt Miami team that clearly looked a
little bit more physical on both the offensive and defensive line.
So not a great week for the public. It's tough
to make a blanket generalization. Professional betters did because some
of these games this time of year already immoving seven
to eight points and you never know which is the

(01:02:36):
true position that a lot of these professionals are taking.

Speaker 3 (01:02:39):
So how much knee jerk reaction will we see? You know, obviously,
there's only a handful of big time games next week.
I kind of think Illinois excuse me, Florida and USF
becomes a very fascinating game after what they did USF
to Boise State. But how much knee jerk reaction will
we see? Will you start seeing people bail on Texas,
start seeing buying more' on Ohio State? Or do we

(01:03:01):
get it that you can lose a game in college
football this year and you'll still be Okay.

Speaker 9 (01:03:05):
I'm already seeing people bail on it. I don't know
what football game they watched on Big Neon yesterday, because,
judging by the responses on social media, Ohio State must
have won that game in an alternate universe forty nine
to seven, thank you, And I must have been completely
out to lunch because people are telling me if the
game was played again now, Ohio State would be as
much as a five point favorite on a field and

(01:03:27):
all sorts of other ridiculous acenine statements, completely ignoring the
fact that it was Texas that had multiple possessions inside
the Ohio State green zone. But it was yet again
the offensive play calling in gold to go situations the
left the Circasian high and dry. And somehow they also
forget that if you back out a forty yard jump
ball or Carnel tape makes a tremendous catch, that Ohio

(01:03:48):
State doesn't gain more than one hundred and seventy five
yards playing at home against the first time starting quarterback.
So people need to really pump the brakes a little
bit on some of these games. Texas, in my opinion,
will be just fined. Ohio State will be there the end.
I did see some things like I mentioned with Alabama
that concern me and Clemson as well. I mean Clemson
playing at home with a veteran quarterback and some talented

(01:04:08):
skill position players. That inability to muster more than ten
points is a little bit problematic and reminiscent of what
we saw last year where they got fat and happy
against acc opponents before they had a step up in class.

Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
You know, I said it now, number one, what you
just said. I said, Sarkisian deserves a lot of the
blame for the way he called those plays. I didn't
think he did a very good job Arch manning did
he drop in the Heisman odds? Is now a good
time to maybe jump back on that ball wagon and
get some good odds with him or what.

Speaker 9 (01:04:34):
You'll definitely get a much better price on Arch now
that you wouldn't have had beforehand. So I will say
that much as you go through, Arch kind of went
off right around five to five and a half to
one before the game against Ohio State to open the season.
Some prominent books have now drifted his number out to
eighteen to one to win the Heights.

Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
Wow.

Speaker 9 (01:04:51):
And so in my opinion, if you believe what we
saw was an anomaly, and then Arch is going to
get back to better mechanics, He's going to make some
of the throws that he needed to. He's got three
off opportunities to pat his stats against San Jose State
UTEP in Sam Houston before Texas will be on a
national stage in early October against Florida and Gentlemen. Last
I checked, these games will all be forgotten if Art
goes out there and looks like a potential number one

(01:05:13):
pick against SEC caliber opponents. But I will say there
were plenty of troubling signs, most notably that Aaron throw
on third down that would have given Texas a chance
to extend the drive and potentially go in for the
game time score.

Speaker 4 (01:05:26):
I mentioned this earlier.

Speaker 3 (01:05:27):
I don't know if I ever followed up on it,
but Todd, were you aware that Sark.

Speaker 4 (01:05:31):
Was basically completely changing his offense?

Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
Like, I had no idea that they were going to
go more pro style in that that it was going
to become more they were kind of knocking too whenever
Joe Clott was talking about it on Saturday, in the
type of offense that he was in.

Speaker 4 (01:05:45):
But was that a known thing?

Speaker 9 (01:05:48):
Texas had kind of played a little bit tight to
the vesta in terms of what the offense was going
to look like. So if you're asking me that I
had expectations that it was going to look significantly different,
they're what we've seen in the past. Absolutely not. The
one thing though, that continues to be problematic when I
watch the Longhorns, and I know you probably watch them
a little bit closer Plank living in Oklahoma, is their
inability to develop wide receiver talent. You look at a

(01:06:11):
team like Ohio State and some of the other power programs.
I mean These are players that are four and five
star recruits that underwhelm, and you have to imagine that
a guy like Ryan Wingo is actually going to see
his skill set on full display when he goes to
the next level. The other issue that I had with
Texas and some of their play calling, why was there
no effort to try and go to tempo were to
mix things up against a slightly inexperienced defense and a

(01:06:32):
first time defensive coordinator at the college level, Texas felt
like they always thought they could wear Ohio State down
and narrow the margins, almost reminiscent of the way we've
seen Penn State play against the Buckeyes, and we've known
how well that's worked out for James Franklin over the
last handful of years.

Speaker 2 (01:06:46):
All Right, Todd, of course, Thursday is the big day
that's called money making day, because I don't know if
I've seen more of a guarantee of a winner than
the Philadelphia Eagles minus seven and a half over the
Dallas Cowboys should win this game by three touchdowns. I'm
shocked the line only went from seven to seven and
a half once Micah Parsans got traded. It's like stealing

(01:07:06):
I just love this game.

Speaker 9 (01:07:08):
I should probably be looking for the best number I
can find in the Cowboys the team. Now what that
conversation tells you?

Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
Come on, come on?

Speaker 9 (01:07:15):
The number did the number was a little bit shorter
before the Parsons trade. You did have Philadelphia kind of
hovering in that six and a half range. So moving
through a key number with minimal resistance, even with a
subtraction of that kind of marquee talent for the Dallas
Cowboys isn't something that you just scoff at and kind
of gloss over. We also saw the total move as well,
from forty six at the bottom of the market now

(01:07:35):
out to forty seven and a half. And I think
if Dallas is going to stay competitive, they're going to
have to try and find ways to move the football
through the air. I don't think that ground game is
anything to write home about. And this is a defense
right now for me. The power rates in the bottom
five of the league without arguably the biggest difference maker
that you have in the sport.

Speaker 4 (01:07:51):
All Right, Todd, this will be a fun week. Man.

Speaker 3 (01:07:54):
I don't know if you've got your Super Bowl pick
behind a paywall anywhere, so I don't want to spoil anything,
but who are some teams you're high on before we
let you get out of here this year that we
need to go?

Speaker 2 (01:08:04):
I'm sure, Well, I.

Speaker 9 (01:08:06):
Don't actually have a single ticket in my portfolio on
a team to win the Super Bowl. The team I
do have power rated first in the league, though, is
the Baltimore Ravens. I think when you look at that
roster from top to bottom, you can make the case
that there are legitimately no holes other than some questions
about a rookie place kicker taking over for Justin Tucker
and then being able to solidify some of their depths.
So the Ravens for me the best team in the league,

(01:08:29):
and I think that if they can't get it done
this year, it's a real problem. One team I am
a little bit more concerned about is the Buffalo Bills.
I think they're extremely sinned defensively, and while I still
believe they go on to win the AFC East, I'm
not sure they should have as short a number as
they do right now in the future's market until they
can address some of those concerns in their secondary.

Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
By the way, what kind of odds could I get
on University of Arizona to win the championship in football
and basketball in a parlay.

Speaker 9 (01:08:54):
Just let me know how many zeros you're looking for, Arnie,
and I'm sure we can make a deal.

Speaker 3 (01:08:57):
Off the airy talk to you so much? Yeah, how
much you want to spend on that? On the off front?

Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
Off Wow, you don't want to get near me, Not
with the way Arizona looked a good z O White.

Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
Steve de Seger comes rolling in with everything that's trending
in the world of sports.

Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
Are we all a final now.

Speaker 8 (01:09:16):
Yes, sir, and I do agree with the On paper,
the Baltimore Ravens roster is just ridiculously impressive. However, on paper,
their toughest games are in the month of September. They
got the first Sunday night game is at Buffalo next
Sunday Night. Here, you know it's going to be winding
up as we start the show. They also have a
Monday night game in September hosting Detroit, and then they

(01:09:38):
play at Kansas City the week after that. Those three
all in September. The NFL's regular season opener is this Thursday,
Dallas at Philadelphia. Cowboys gave defensive back to Ron bland
a four year extension. Today in college football, we had
a matchup of top ten teams from the preseason polls
at Miami. The Hurricanes beat Notre Dame twenty seven to
twenty four on a forty seven yard goal with about

(01:10:00):
a minute to go. Today in Atlanta, number thirteen South
Carolina defeated Virginia Tech twenty four to eleven. WNBA LA
Sparks Edge Washington eighty one seventy eight. Indiana lost to
Golden State seventy five sixty three. Caitlin Clark still nowhere
to be seen on the court out with growing and
ankle injury. She did participate in shoot around last Sunday,

(01:10:21):
so there's that their regular season will be ending September ninth.
Tomorrow is September first NASCAR Southern five hundred tonight went
to Chase Briscoe. Tyler Reddick was second. This was the
playoff opener. He also won last year's race there at
brisco and he led most of the laps in this one.
Joseph Neugarden took the IndyCar season finale at Nashville. He
lives in Nashville. Finished twelfth in the season standings. The

(01:10:44):
series champ was Alex Polo. He finished second today. The
US Open tennis tournament going on in New York. Fourth
round win for number four seed Jessica Pagoula, but fellow
American Taylor Townsend was eliminated. Number one Arena Sablenca, a
winner tonight. Men's number two Carlos out Carraz advanced, as
did Novak Djokovic. The Dodgers got to walk off pinch

(01:11:04):
solo homer from Will Smith to beat Arizona five to four.
Padres lost today seven to two at Minnesota. Tonight at Philadelphia,
the Braves with three late runs, beat Philly three to one.
Miami won five to one. At the Mets Cincinnati over
Saint Louis seven to four. The Cardinals struck out fifteen
times in this game. The Reds are not out of it.
There are only four games behind the New York Mets

(01:11:26):
for the last NL wild card again tomorrow, September first,
less than a month left in the regular season.

Speaker 3 (01:11:33):
Back to you, let's go all right, there is that's
Steve segerat more was Steve coming up here in a bit?

Speaker 2 (01:11:38):
What ony did you see the guy that took the
hat from the little boy at the the USO Tennis. Yeah,
oh my goodness. And then he put out the autodraft
a statement.

Speaker 4 (01:11:47):
Do we know that's him? Why?

Speaker 2 (01:11:49):
Oh, it could be a fake one?

Speaker 4 (01:11:50):
Is that what?

Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
Well?

Speaker 3 (01:11:51):
I mean that we did this whole thing with the
Coldplay concert where we all lost our minds with the
statement and then come to find out it wasn't actually
from the.

Speaker 2 (01:11:58):
Dude that's true. It was kind of rash to be
right exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
That's why I thought whenever I saw that statement, I'm like, yeah, no,
that didn't come from that character.

Speaker 4 (01:12:08):
There's no way anyone can be that.

Speaker 8 (01:12:10):
But it was from the site that Arnie goes to
all the time, the Tennis Insider or something like that. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
The NBA said, tells what it was on. But he's like,
come on, people, get over And I'm like, wow, you know,
don't make a federal casee about this thing, and anybody
that says anything bad about me, I may sue you.

Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
I'm like, yeah, that's whenever I thought, there's just no
way that that can be true.

Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
That was kind of harsh though, taking the hat from
the little.

Speaker 4 (01:12:35):
Kid like that, I don't get that.

Speaker 3 (01:12:36):
I mean, listen, I had my dad whenever I was
a little kid, get me a baseball that was thrown
to him from Jeff Reard. Now, I don't know how
he got the picture right now, the old picture X
Jeff Red. But it was one. Now, I don't know
how my dad got that ball. No, Jeff Reard is
still very much alive, my bad Jeff good friend. I

(01:12:59):
don't know how I got it. I don't want to know.
But he got me a baseball the Jeff rear and
threw to him. So I sit here when I say this,
and I never know how dad got that ball that
Cardinals game back in the day. If if you're taking
something from a kid, I mean, and you're at the
very least over twenty one, maybe twenty, what are we

(01:13:21):
even doing right now?

Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
I would never take anything from a kid.

Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
We would steal football from UCLA. We would go to
practice and we would be on the sideline, I me
and my friend would like pick up a football and
start playing catch, and then he would throw it way
over my head over the wall to another buddy of
ours that was outside there, and he'd catch it and
we'd all take.

Speaker 8 (01:13:42):
Off, and then he would steal disabled parking placards from there.

Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
No, it was just a football for practice. I mean,
don't make a big deal about this is not a
federal games.

Speaker 3 (01:13:50):
Come on, what would you do if like it's been education.
So they've been investigating it for like fifty years.

Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
And now we probably got those kids that were stealing
the football.

Speaker 4 (01:13:59):
We caught him. We caught him, right, we have the audio.

Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
Tried to be all nonchalant. The guy already throws it
over my head by like one hundred feet over the wall.

Speaker 4 (01:14:08):
I have.

Speaker 8 (01:14:09):
By the way, maybe UCLA could use some footballs to,
you know, have the offense practice with Nico a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
How about if people went to the game. Let's start there.
There was not a lot of people there, to be.

Speaker 8 (01:14:20):
Honest, and if you were by the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Oh that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
Yeah, kicked their backside. Man, they ran the ball all
over them. I like you talks quarterback. He was impressive.

Speaker 4 (01:14:31):
All right?

Speaker 3 (01:14:32):
What else impressed us this weekend? We'll find out from
the Sager. Coming up next, it's Arny in Plank right
here on Fox Sports Radio. All right, it's Arny in
Plank Company live from the Fox Sports Radio studios with
a stinking genius.

Speaker 4 (01:14:48):
I'm Chris Plank. Okay, Steve Sager is in the house.
What's going on, Steve?

Speaker 8 (01:14:51):
How before we get to Texas from yesterday and doing well?
Thank you? We mentioned UCLA football. They had, of course,
Deshaun fall starting as head coach last year, and they
began the season one and five and then had an
easier second half of the schedule and finished five and seven.
It's hard not to get to a bowl game these days, right,
it is possible. So here on the Fox Late Game,

(01:15:13):
and by late I mean it kicked off after eleven
pm Eastern time last night. Utah won at UCLA forty
three to ten last night. Next game for the Bruins
this Saturday night there at UNLV, which is now coached
by Dan Mullen.

Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
Wow, granit.

Speaker 8 (01:15:26):
They've had two easy opponents, but they're two to zero.
And then after that it's a Friday night game hosting
New Mexico at the Rose Bowl. And then it's UCLA
at Northwestern, which pod fight against mitche They did, they did,
and Northwestern should be fine now that the uniform snaffho
that we talked about last night is done. And they
got three points at Tulane, which was so ticked off
that they couldn't wear their whites. So UCLA does at

(01:15:49):
least have three shall we say, winnable games over the
next three weeks. But it was, to say the least,
a disappointing start for them and for the Texas Longhorns,
who were preseason number one in the Ape Pole for
the first time ever and then went out and laid
that egg losing fourteen to seven at Ohio State yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:16:06):
Horrible, horrible.

Speaker 8 (01:16:07):
Ap answered a great question, how often does a team
rank number one only allow fourteen points and still not
win the game? The answer is never. The last two
hundred and seventy times that happened, they still won the game,
you know, because you only allowed fourteen points. You'd have
to go back to Jimmy Johnson's Miami team that lost

(01:16:29):
a Fiesta Bowl after the nineteen eighty six season to
find a number one team that only allowed fourteen points
or less but did not win the game. And by
the way, that Fiesta Bowl was a famous game because
until that night, the Fiesta Bowl was part of the
regular New Year's lineup. Fiesta Bowl had two open slots,

(01:16:51):
no conference tieh ins. Miami and Penn State were number
one two. They got them both for their game and
they moved the game off New Year's into primetime. January
second got huge ratings. The game was seven to seven
going to the fourth quarter. Penn State won fourteen to ten,
So yes, a number one team January second, nineteen eighty

(01:17:12):
seven did only allow fourteen points and still lost the game.
And I mentioned it on the prior show tonight. The
initial Nielsen ratings for the College Game Day Show of
yesterday and Lee Corso is now retired, they had gotten
almost a decade ago two point six million for a
three hour pregame before Michigan Ohio State. In the past.

(01:17:35):
Last year they had a really good audience for their
season opener of Game Day that was two and a
half million. Yesterday was three and a half million viewers
for the show. And the thing that strikes me is
the same channel had the season opener the Dublin game
one week before for an actual game, they had four
million viewers for the opener. This got five point one

(01:17:57):
million viewers for the headgear part the last quarter hour
of the show before Corso.

Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
And you heard you heard that Fox aired it before ESPN,
did right? Did you hear that?

Speaker 4 (01:18:08):
No? No?

Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:18:10):
Yes?

Speaker 8 (01:18:10):
Rob Box was in the stadium as well. It was
their game, this big ten home game.

Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
They must have been ahead of them on the feed
or something. I don't know how it happened, but they.

Speaker 4 (01:18:19):
They were there on the field.

Speaker 2 (01:18:21):
Yeah, but they aired the exact.

Speaker 8 (01:18:23):
ESPN had moved into the stadium for the last portion,
oh Okay had moved a desk inside, so they were
both at different parts of the stadium. They were both
inside at the end. So it is nice that just
to finish up, it gets there on both plays. And
it does seem logical that, you know, the channel that
pays for the game should be able to air that

(01:18:45):
thing that's actually taking place in the stadium where the
game is.

Speaker 4 (01:18:48):
You know.

Speaker 8 (01:18:49):
We had a preseason Top ten matchup at Miami tonight.
The Irish of Notre Dame tied the game at Miami
touchdown with about three and a half minutes to go,
but the Hurricanes win it on a field goal of
forty seven yards with about a minute left, twenty seven
to twenty four. Carson Beck, Hurricanes quarterback, with two touchdown
passes in the second quarter. The freshman quarterback for Notre
Dame C J. Carr had his moments three total touchdowns

(01:19:12):
one interception here on the weekend. That's not quite over where.
Most college football teams opened the season this week. Notre Dame, well,
they're all American running back Jeremiah Love. There was a
reference to the witness.

Speaker 2 (01:19:25):
Yeah from Sean McDonough's he.

Speaker 8 (01:19:28):
Was invisible for a while. Ten carries thirty three yards
rushing for him in this week.

Speaker 3 (01:19:32):
He kept trying to jump over everybody. Yeah, does is
he jumped?

Speaker 8 (01:19:36):
He could use some help from the line as well.
Notre Dame will be hosting Texas A and M in
a couple of weeks, and again Miami has on the
schedule Florida and Florida State sil In three weeks, they'll
be hosting the Gators. The opening of the NFL season
Dallas at Philadelphia Thursday. Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown says
he will play after a hamstring injury. I mentioned the
Cowboys gave defensive back de Ron Bland a four year extension.

(01:19:58):
We're fifty million dollar guarantees. So no, not Michael Parsons' money,
but get another extension doled out by Dallas. Kansas City's
opener is in Brazil Friday night against the Chargers, and
it's unless you're in LA or Kansas City, where by
NFL law, it has to be on a regular TV channel.
Unless you're in those two cities, it's YouTube only. It's

(01:20:20):
the only game they've bought this year. Chiefs defense, get
that get that game? Yes, absolutely, yes, well you and
the internet. I'm not so sure, but yes you should.
Let's let's put it that way. Chiefs defensive back Trent
McDuffie will reportedly start the season without a contract extension.
And I did see a list of the available NFL
free agents still as we head toward the regular season.

(01:20:42):
They include defensive backs Jabrol Peppers just let go by
New England, Sante Samuel Junior who had played with the
Chargers Miami got rid of corner Mike Hilton recently. They're
also from the defense, names like Eric Kendrick, Zadarius Smith,
Chadavian Clowney on the list of available free agent. But
NFL starts for real this Thursday night, and there's a

(01:21:05):
game Friday, and we'll have the Sunday night Buffalo Ravens.

Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
As we mentioned, nice, I love it, good stuff. Thanks,
step all right, we got a lot still to go.
We got what we learned after week one of the
college football season. We got what we learned after the
entire preason because the NFL is here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
All right, here we go, power hour, Power Show, Quick Show. Today.

Speaker 3 (01:21:32):
It was one of those moments where I looked down
and I realized, Holy smokes, we're in our final hour.
Maybe easy, it's uh, we're in the four hour show
last night. Makes you really truly understand how little time
we have. I mean, this used to be a four
hour show back in the day. That's I forgot about that.
We used to do four hours on then we had
two hours.

Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
On this slot for a while too, did we really? Yeah?
We did?

Speaker 4 (01:21:53):
That doesn't suck. Do you know where a great two
hour slot is?

Speaker 3 (01:21:57):
Like super early in the morning on like a Sunday
morning after game, They Scott, if you need like six
to eight am, we'll book end the day start. I mean,
just I wake up early on Sunday. Well, I guess
I was still up this morning, and you get so
excited because hey, at least for this weekend we had
college football to recap and Arnie. Next Sunday morning, we're
gonna wake up to a full slate of NFL games,

(01:22:19):
and then as far as everything, I know we're gonna
be here to recap it again like we've been for
the last decade.

Speaker 4 (01:22:26):
And I can't wait.

Speaker 3 (01:22:27):
I can't wait because we've had so many offseason storylines
to talk about. We had the Micah Parsons trade, We've
had quarterback movement, We've had Chadoor and the drafted drop
where it doesn't even look like he's gonna play this year.
But bottom line, man football is finally here Thursday, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:22:43):
I think Philadelphia's going to crush the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (01:22:46):
I really do.

Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
I think they win by three touchdowns. It's like the
easiest pick I've ever seen in my wife at bet millions.
I don't think the Cowboys can keep up in this game.

Speaker 3 (01:22:56):
I just want to remind you that gambling is legal
now and you can do it from your phone, which.

Speaker 2 (01:23:03):
Of course, no, I don't refuse to.

Speaker 4 (01:23:06):
When's the last time he placed a bet on your phone?

Speaker 2 (01:23:07):
I placed bets all the time.

Speaker 4 (01:23:10):
I think you're lying to us.

Speaker 2 (01:23:11):
No, I'm not lying at all.

Speaker 4 (01:23:13):
And Beth knows about this, didn't we?

Speaker 2 (01:23:16):
First of all, I had the Arizona to win the
championship in basketball.

Speaker 4 (01:23:19):
Was Yeah, that was like six months ago.

Speaker 2 (01:23:20):
It seems like I really like Arizona winning the Big
Twelve this year.

Speaker 4 (01:23:25):
How was your Oklahoma game? By the way, Yeah, this
video is Illinois State.

Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
They were very good. It was very vanilla. Everyone was
hiding everything. Oh you couldn't run the football, but it
was a thirty Quit avoiding the subject here. Yeah, you're
moving away quickly for now you are a regular. You
like my point in bringing this all up once you
keep saying, oh, bet millions?

Speaker 4 (01:23:43):
Are any people might? They might? They can now, so
I don't know. Are you throwing millions on it?

Speaker 2 (01:23:49):
I love Philadelphia love So are you putting your money
where your mouth is? Who is betting the Cowboys? After
what happened to them? No way they could keep up.
You like the cow You're the one. You and Hartman
are the only two that like the Cowboys this year.

Speaker 4 (01:24:03):
It was before the trade of Michael.

Speaker 2 (01:24:06):
Off the bandwagon.

Speaker 4 (01:24:07):
Now are you? Oh no, I'm.

Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
Taking them because whenever you're when you're this deep in belief. Yeah, well,
hell yeah, I'm taking the Cowboys to cover the seven.

Speaker 4 (01:24:18):
You can't mean I.

Speaker 2 (01:24:19):
Have six picks. I'm gonna have that one more in
the NFL to make it an even seven.

Speaker 4 (01:24:23):
Gay, seven is not an even number for me.

Speaker 2 (01:24:26):
For sports gambling, it is Josha, how much you know?

Speaker 4 (01:24:28):
Wait? How is seven and even number? Come on?

Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
Just the way you watch so you don't finish three
and three? What do I gotta explain to you? By
the way, Darryl just rips me, I'm being a fraud
in gambling. Did you see that on Twitter?

Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
You are a fraud in gambling? You say, if you
want to say that, you pick games, that's fine. You
don't gamble on said games.

Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
Darrel said, you're such a fraud if you knew anything
about gambling, which you don't. You can't get lines on
most of these games. You have to lay like the
forty eight and a half. Most books aren't giving you
minus ten thousand on the money. They're gonna make you
lay the spread of forty eight and a half place
a bet for once?

Speaker 4 (01:25:04):
Will you exactly? Wow?

Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
No, The part way that we got in from that
guy was all on the money line. They were not
spread so right.

Speaker 4 (01:25:12):
But I'm with him. Place a bad like you have
you talk.

Speaker 3 (01:25:17):
No one talks more gas about their picks and about
how much money they're gonna make then you and you
have an estate.

Speaker 4 (01:25:24):
Where you could do it right there on you, I won't.

Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
I was thinking about betting the Miami Dolphins, but I'm.

Speaker 4 (01:25:28):
Thinking about it, why don't you.

Speaker 2 (01:25:30):
Because I'm starting to think that it might not be
a great year for the up starting. Let's I know
something that the rest of you guys don't. Did you
see Roman new eral number twenty six with the USA
Today put out their power rankings for the NFL. Did
you see where they have Las Vegas and Miami.

Speaker 3 (01:25:46):
I couldn't care less about the USA today power rankings.
Whose power rankings were they right over the USA Today anymore?

Speaker 2 (01:25:54):
I don't know, but Vegas was twenty seven and Miami
was twenty eight. All the way down there at number
twenty eight, that's kind of low. If you're asking me that,
that's insane.

Speaker 3 (01:26:05):
I don't know a single person is still rights for
USA today.

Speaker 4 (01:26:09):
If gerald they will still arrest it, I'm in.

Speaker 3 (01:26:11):
But hey, they used to be the bomb though when
you could get that multi color newspaper. Oh that was
great that though it was always in the morning and
they never had an updated edition.

Speaker 4 (01:26:21):
Funny I wouldn't translate.

Speaker 2 (01:26:23):
To like I would look at the weather in the
back and decide which places I was going to apply
to for radio jobs and see what the weather was
across the country.

Speaker 4 (01:26:31):
Did that work out for you? No?

Speaker 2 (01:26:33):
Not really, that didn't really hepp you.

Speaker 4 (01:26:35):
Ended up you went from Phoenix to oh but even.

Speaker 2 (01:26:39):
Before Phoenix in La, I was appointing Palace that's not
bad weather, Portland, Maine and places like that. I remember
I got turned down from Marshalltown, Iowa. The guy called
me up and going, no, we just can't hire you. Sorry,
You're just you're just not good enough to can't work
in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Speaker 4 (01:26:56):
Marshalltown, Iowa.

Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
Yeah, what was the show? I have no idea. I
don't even remember.

Speaker 4 (01:27:02):
It was a sports show.

Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
But they're like, no, I'm sorry, we just you're a
good guy at all.

Speaker 4 (01:27:06):
We just we're gonna go.

Speaker 2 (01:27:08):
With somebody local instead of bringing somebody out from Los
Angeles to live to Marshalltown, Iowa.

Speaker 3 (01:27:13):
Could you imagine? Could you imagine you and Marshalltown, Iowa. Oh,
my goodness, apparently it is. There's a famous baseball tie
cap Anson was a.

Speaker 4 (01:27:30):
Resident there.

Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
Okay, so there is a Marshalltown, Iowa. I'm not making that.

Speaker 3 (01:27:34):
No, you weren't. You weren't not subscribing what am I
trying to say? Applying. You weren't applying to a fake
city or fake radio station. So at least you had that.

Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
Those are a long time ago, Chris, long time ago.

Speaker 4 (01:27:47):
Listen, quit quit quit delaying the inevitable.

Speaker 3 (01:27:49):
Yeah, we got to talk about what we learned after
week one of the college football season. And if you
have any lingering thoughts, I mean, get very clear that
you're diving all in on the cow are the Eagles
this week?

Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
And so tell you. I tell you what I learned
after week one of college football. And I said this
about the NFL. I didn't think it was going to
translate so much to college football, but bingo, it has,
and like crazy, and that's going forward on fourth down, Chris,
Remember I told you about that when we were talking.

Speaker 4 (01:28:18):
About thinking college football for the last three years.

Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
Yeah, but now, more so than ever in your own territory,
it seems like and they're getting gutsier and gutsier. I knew,
I mean, back in the day, you would never go
for it on fourth down. Then it started saying you're
going for it on fourth now you're going forward on
fourth down from your own thirty. If it's like fourth
and two or something to that effect, it's got These

(01:28:42):
coaches have really gotten gutsy. I didn't think we'd see
something like that.

Speaker 3 (01:28:45):
Well, I think that it is still to be determined,
but I was blown away on that first drive. I
think you're talking more about one game. You're talking about Texas.

Speaker 2 (01:28:57):
There was a couple of games that won. One team
went for it on their I can't remember this game,
but it was, well, you.

Speaker 4 (01:29:04):
Really need to work on this.

Speaker 3 (01:29:05):
I mean, you know, you can write this down or
like google it up will rundown instead of saying, you
know that one game. I don't think you need much
more evidence than the Texas game. Arnie, we're on the
very first drive. Sarks got at fourth and one on
their own thirty and they go for it without even
getting in a huddle or anything.

Speaker 4 (01:29:23):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:29:23):
I don't think you're gonna see it as much as
you're making it out to be because they went for
it a lot last year anyway, I mean it was
it was a lot in twenty twenty four, So I
don't know how much more you're gonna see of it
in twenty twenty five, because it's already become a regular
thing in college football.

Speaker 2 (01:29:43):
It's look of a regular thing on like the fourth
and inches, fourth and one.

Speaker 3 (01:29:46):
No, it's they get a number before the drive starts,
and if you're at a certain yard line, and if
it's fourth and whatever, you're gonna go for it. Man,
this is this is the analytics of college football.

Speaker 4 (01:29:57):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:29:57):
I wonder if we'll see that in week one in
the end of fell out of the way to start
betting this thing and start betting the overs in the
NFL in Week one.

Speaker 3 (01:30:04):
Well, it sure didn't necessarily work with getting all the
overs those going forward on fourth downs in college No,
it did not. So going forward on fourth down translates
to more overs.

Speaker 2 (01:30:14):
Hitting, yes, I do, because if they.

Speaker 4 (01:30:18):
Got in Week one in college football.

Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
It didn't play out week one in college football. But
I mean, think about it. If you're gonna go for it,
let's say around midfield on fourth down. If you don't
get it, the other team has a good field position.
If you do pick it up, you continue your drive.
So it's kind of like a win win situation.

Speaker 3 (01:30:35):
So I just I think you're, hey, this isn't a
knock but I think you're saying, man, we're going to
see so much of this, and I'm telling you I
think we already see a lot of it that that's
kind of my point. I feel like you're trying to
tell me that it's gonna get even darker outside than
how dark it is right now.

Speaker 4 (01:30:51):
Maybe, and maybe you are right.

Speaker 2 (01:30:53):
I would just call it by a surprise when you're
gonna go for it from your own thirty yard line
and and Texas, yeah, but there was that's another game also,
but I was I'm like, wow, yeah, that's really gutsy.
I don't think I would have the guts to do
something for my own thirty yard line when the games
you know, up there and you know decided how hasn't
been decided yet. But we'll see how it works out.

(01:31:13):
We'll see if you'll get more of those fourth down calls.

Speaker 4 (01:31:16):
Well I will.

Speaker 3 (01:31:17):
I will add this more than anything else, Arnie, I
don't think. I don't think that you're gonna see week
in and week out defenses dominate like they did in
the big games in week one. I mean you, I
know that you need scores, so fourteen to seven probably
didn't do it for you. In any of the big games,
or was it fourteen to ten for the Clemson game,

(01:31:38):
whatever the final.

Speaker 2 (01:31:39):
Score was, but I seventeen ten of the Clemson seventeen
ten to three.

Speaker 3 (01:31:43):
I don't think you're gonna see that be a regular
kind of thing. I think you're gonna start seeing the
offenses catch up here over the next few weeks. And
I do think. I mean, I I'll tell you what.
There was some flat out hitting going on in that
Texas Ohio State game. There were pads popping in the
LSU Clemson game. I mean watching tonight. Even though they

(01:32:05):
hit the over in the Miami Notre Dame game, I mean,
they were it was physical. So I'm absolutely positively pumped
to see the second week in college football. And here's
the other thing that I'll say, after Week one of
the college football season, I know this, they got to
keep making this Week one a big deal.

Speaker 4 (01:32:22):
I wish that it would grow.

Speaker 3 (01:32:23):
A little bit more in their Week zero where trying
to call that Week one still, I think it's okay
to completely differentiate it from the first week of the season.
But you had three matchups top ten teams playing each other.
You had one matchup that ended up being a massive
upset with the blue blood program hitting the road against
kind of a like on the fringe of what might

(01:32:45):
have been talked about as a blue blood program in
Florida State. You know, these kind of matchups in week one, Arnie,
We're gonna see more and more and more of them
because the SEC's going to nine games. But to me,
it's what it's all about. I mean, I love that
we stepped up with big time matchups in week one
like we did in college foot.

Speaker 2 (01:33:03):
Let me let me read this Twitter real quick from
b Underwood. We're going to crush Oklahoma this weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:33:10):
From b Underwood.

Speaker 2 (01:33:11):
What did you think of Underwood in his game against
New Mexico?

Speaker 4 (01:33:14):
What did you think? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:33:15):
He did me a good at you didn't he but
you know it is New Mexico.

Speaker 3 (01:33:18):
But the Mexico played well. I give them credit. They
had one of the craziest trick plays. I think I've
ever seen.

Speaker 2 (01:33:24):
Legs through the legs right, I saw that.

Speaker 3 (01:33:26):
I will see. I think Michigan's really good. I think
Oklahoma is really good. I'm glad they're playing that paid
each other. They've never played each other in Oklahoma.

Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
Oh wow, Wow, did you see the line in that
game five and a half? Still, No, what are you?
Five and a half?

Speaker 3 (01:33:40):
Who Oklahoma two and a half? I was it down
to two and a half already, and.

Speaker 4 (01:33:45):
I go, I get.

Speaker 2 (01:33:45):
I guess a lot of people wanted to take Michigan.

Speaker 4 (01:33:48):
To bet them up. They got Bryce Underwood bet them up.

Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
You're doing the reverse psychology?

Speaker 4 (01:33:54):
Are you not?

Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
Absolutely not at all. If I watched Week one and
I'm getting ready for Week two, I'm absolutely taking Michigan
in every way, shape or form possible. They were challenged
more than Oklahoma was. Oklahoma didn't run the ball well
against an Illinois state team that did again is an
FCS team.

Speaker 4 (01:34:12):
Heck yaw man, I'd be all over Michigan if I
were you guys out there.

Speaker 2 (01:34:15):
That's one of my picks. By the way, sorry about that.

Speaker 3 (01:34:18):
Listen, if you're picking Michigan, that makes me feel infinitely
better about things comes out of it. Uh, you got
anything else you want to add for what you learn
in Week one of the college football season outside of
trying to troll.

Speaker 2 (01:34:27):
Me, Well, other than Arizona's a lot better than I
even thought. Oh my goodness, they were looking good. They
squa crushed Hawaii so I was I was happy about that.
I was a little nervous about that game, and they
didn't fill the ball downfield as much as I like,
but it was it was good to get the victory
and bounce back. And we should have We should go

(01:34:48):
like three and oh, four and oh before things start
getting tough.

Speaker 3 (01:34:51):
So good luck with that, all right. When we come back.
We got a lot of NFL talk to get to.
Why because the season starts on Thursday night. First, I
need to check out the Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel.
There's tons of great videos from many of our Fox
Sports Radio shows. Just search Fox Sports Radio on YouTube
and you'll see a whole bunch of video highlights from
our shows.

Speaker 4 (01:35:10):
And be sure to subscribe so.

Speaker 3 (01:35:11):
You always have instant access to Fox Sports Radio videos
on YouTube. We're talking NFL next on Fox Sports Radio,
Fun Weekend Man College Football Week one in the books.

Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
I have one question on college football before you move on.

Speaker 4 (01:35:28):
More game remaining tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (01:35:30):
Yes, big deal, little deal, no deal that the Alabama
fan gave the middle finger to the camera.

Speaker 4 (01:35:37):
I thought it was hilarious. He played them, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:35:41):
He gave me the deats there that out of nowhere
the finger came in camera kind of paned to the
right a little bit.

Speaker 10 (01:35:47):
Do you guys see all the graphics people are making
now with the zero to one and the one being
his fingers?

Speaker 2 (01:35:52):
Yes, yes, I see that. I see that one. I
saw a girl co Ed give another girl of the finger.
They were sitting in the one of the beginning rows
in party.

Speaker 4 (01:36:03):
Have you been to a college football game in a while?

Speaker 3 (01:36:06):
Everybody gives everybody the finger pretty much the entire games. So,
I mean it's just that the cameras don't catch more
of it. Is this surprising thing to me?

Speaker 2 (01:36:17):
I mean maybe not quickly from hid They're like, whoa
pan away, pan away?

Speaker 4 (01:36:22):
Uh? I thought it was hilarious. I thought it was hilarious.

Speaker 3 (01:36:26):
I'm sure there's some pear clutching that goes on, but
I wonder you remember one of my favorite things on
Mondays after the Super Bowl was all the FCC complaints
that we would hear about or get about from something.
There's not people that still do that, right, No one's
still sitting around or right into the FCC to complain
about something they saw on TV.

Speaker 2 (01:36:43):
A matter of fact, that kid's gonna make money off
that somehow is it he or you would think he's
gonna figure out how to make money.

Speaker 4 (01:36:50):
Off that if he has, and yet it's probably time.

Speaker 2 (01:36:53):
Starting yeah right something, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:36:55):
Hey, before we get to your picks, and before we
get to a little bit of audio from the day
that was, I did want to roll through and tweets
to the show tonight. I did want to roll through
a couple of the Roman numerals here because you really,
you know, sold after Week one of college football, I
learned this. So let's go to Roman numeral fifteen. After

(01:37:16):
three weeks of the preseason now and leading into the
first week in the NFL season, what's some things feel
confident about?

Speaker 2 (01:37:25):
I'll tell you what I'm not feeling confident about.

Speaker 4 (01:37:27):
And that's not the question.

Speaker 2 (01:37:29):
Yeah, what I'm feeling confident about?

Speaker 6 (01:37:31):
Now?

Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
No, go ahead, what are you not feeling confident about?
I'm not feeling confident about my Dolphins. I'm really not.

Speaker 3 (01:37:36):
I just there is such a catch radius here of
NFL topics with Arnie.

Speaker 4 (01:37:40):
It's the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (01:37:40):
No, no, no, I mean I'll get to the other stuff.
I just wanted to go out and put an officially
on the record that I'm not feeling confident. The fact
that they were rank twenty eighth in that Power rankings,
I'm like, my goodness, are we that bad? And I
just don't even see it. And the offense didn't click
in the preseason. I know too, it didn't play all

(01:38:01):
that much. I'm worried about Tyreek Hill more at about
eight chan, I'm just worried about the whole team, and
the coaching situation does not make me feel confident at all.
So I'm quite worried about what's going on there. And
then on the other end, obviously after the trade, I'm
all in on Green Bay.

Speaker 4 (01:38:18):
I have them going to the super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (01:38:20):
I think they're the team the beat now that they
have Micah Parsons. Defensively, they're just going to be so
tough and offensively, we see how Jordan Love does. I'm
not all in on him though like everybody else, but
I'm all in defensively with the Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 3 (01:38:34):
I think my favorite thing was earlier in the show,
you were making fun of everybody, then now picking Green Bay.

Speaker 4 (01:38:40):
Which was me? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:38:41):
Which was me?

Speaker 4 (01:38:42):
You immediately were that guy. I will say this much.

Speaker 3 (01:38:45):
I think what I did take away is that we
only need to play two preseason games. I think that
we have reached the point to where we realize how
comical a fourth preseason game was. We're starting to realize
how comical a third preseason game truly is. On right,
and I think we need to play two games. And
I think they need to move it around a little bit.
Because your charging season ticket holders the same amount for

(01:39:08):
a regular season game and your dudes aren't playing.

Speaker 4 (01:39:11):
I think they should start taking the preseason.

Speaker 3 (01:39:13):
I mean, the NFL is all about making money, right,
I think they should start taking some of these preseason
games to college campuses.

Speaker 4 (01:39:19):
Oh that'll be fun.

Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
How great would that be?

Speaker 3 (01:39:22):
Because I mean, again, nobody if you are in this
world of trying to make every every NFL game a
big freaking deal. Could you imagine if Baker Mayfield and
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played a game in Norman. Now,
I don't think you'd sell the place out, but still
would be pretty wild. Could you imagine if you took
I don't know, a Trevor Lawrence Jaguars game to Clemson.

(01:39:43):
I mean, if the Savannah Bananas can sell out Death Valley,
I'm sure there'd be a lot of people there.

Speaker 4 (01:39:48):
But the students have to.

Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
Be going to have to be back in school, you
know what I mean. Otherwise kind of defeats the purpose.
So you gotta make sure the students are at school.

Speaker 3 (01:39:56):
Well, I mean, why, why does have to be that
we've done preseason in college towns before and they've had
great crowds.

Speaker 4 (01:40:04):
You think that you're gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:40:05):
Get a college type atmosphere at an NFL exhibition game.

Speaker 10 (01:40:08):
I'd like to see that, though Aint Half and the
studios Clemson now weren't around when Trevor Lawrence was there.

Speaker 4 (01:40:14):
That's very man. I'd better deal with school's in session.

Speaker 3 (01:40:18):
But hey, bottom line, more than anything else are the
preseason in the NFL has become an absolute joke. And
it didn't. It didn't used to be, at least from
a fan perspective of someone watching. And I know this
is a hot old take that probably should have been
in the laundry list of the Roman Numeral rundown last week, but.

Speaker 4 (01:40:35):
That was my big takeaway for the preseason.

Speaker 3 (01:40:38):
Not only that, for the fifth year in a row,
it is not the free season, and Arnie didn't even
pick the third week games.

Speaker 2 (01:40:43):
Oh and I don't blame the third week, Yeah, BlimE.
I'll tell you what. I want to jump on the
Bears bandwagon after what I saw with them in the preseason. Unfortunately,
that division is just so tough. There's no room for
the movie to go on up with Green Bay, Minnesota
and Detroit. Maybe they fight out with Minnesota. Doubt on
Minnesota just because of the quarterback situation, but you talk

(01:41:04):
about a murderous division. I don't know what to do
about the Bears other than pensilman for last place, because
I don't think they're better than the three teams ahead
of them.

Speaker 3 (01:41:12):
I don't really know what to do with the NFC South,
to be honest with you, because I know the Saints
are going to be bad, right I don't necessarily know
about what's going on in year two of Bryce Young,
Like is this his our year three? I guess now
with Bryce? Is this this year where you know he

(01:41:33):
gets clicking under the offense? Is it Tampa who it
was last year? I mean, is this the year where
the Falcons put it together? Even though they were listless
in the preseason and we didn't even see Michael Pennix
for goodness sakes, and he's wasn't even their full time
every every day, down and down and starter last year.
I just when you talk about so many divisions, of

(01:41:56):
the sixteen divisions are part of me. Of the eight divisions,
you know, six of them being determined, and that's fine.
I think the one I'm having the hardest time with
right now is the NFC South. I cannot figure out
who I have is the favorite in that division.

Speaker 2 (01:42:08):
And I can see that. I can understand that one,
but that's such a garbage division. Whenever that comes on,
I'm changing the TV anyway.

Speaker 3 (01:42:15):
So Giants, Yeah, everyone's just leaping to watch those Dolphins play.

Speaker 2 (01:42:20):
Oh stop, Giants, commanders. You know what caught me about
this game is the Giants are under seven points only
because they played really well in the preseason. I get
the feeling people are starting to say, hey, watch out
for the Giants. They they could maybe make a run.
They look pretty good, they've got a quarterback situation. I'm
not buying that. I can't believe Washington's under that magic

(01:42:42):
number of seven. I think they just just destroy the
Giants and you'll see how bad the Giants are after
that first game.

Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
So basically, what I'm getting is you're prepping us for
an opening weekend of the NFL with a bunch of
unwatchable games, because so far, all I've heard is that
the Eagles are going to destroy the Cowboys, yes, and
that the Giants are going to get destroyed by Washington.

Speaker 2 (01:43:05):
Right, you can take those two to the back.

Speaker 4 (01:43:07):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
That doesn't mean that there's not going to be close games.
I see another blowout too. I mean, I don't want
to give all my picks away. I think the Broncos,
please don't. I'm all over them.

Speaker 4 (01:43:17):
I think they destroy the.

Speaker 2 (01:43:18):
Titans by a couple of touchdowns. I think that's going
to be an ugly game. Yeah, maybe you are going
to see some.

Speaker 4 (01:43:23):
Blowouts of in week number one.

Speaker 2 (01:43:25):
You could see at least those three games are.

Speaker 4 (01:43:27):
Maybe so all right here he is one final time.

Speaker 3 (01:43:30):
Tonight, Steve Desager comes rolling into the Fox Sports radio

we get To arnie's Picks Mustang, mania my man In
dallas was standing up for The texas.

Speaker 4 (01:49:39):
Receivers he writes good.

Speaker 3 (01:49:40):
Things The packers didn't Think Matthew golden was poorly developed
By texas and had to settle for going in the first,
round and the Chief Super bowl champs didn't Think Xavier
worthy was any. Good But Todd furman was. Right arnie's
right sarcat poor play calling On. Saturday are you in
a yay or nay On Kansas?

Speaker 2 (01:49:59):
City we we talked about that couple of weeks ago
when the preseason.

Speaker 3 (01:50:03):
Started how did you can just because he Mentioned Xavier?
Worthy is that at The Kansas City But i'm not
The Texas Ohio state?

Speaker 4 (01:50:09):
Game, okay go, Ahead.

Speaker 2 (01:50:10):
But i'm just wondering BECAUSE i was just thinking about.
It so many people were Anti Kansas, city saying that
their time has come to an, end and you, Know
mahomes is not gonna have a great year and their
window is. CLOSING i at FIRST i didn't feel that,
way and Then i'm starting to, think, well some teams
have gotten. BETTER i don't Think i'm gonna IF i
had to pick five teams to win A Super. Bowl

(01:50:31):
i'm not so Sure Kansas city would have been in
my top. Five to be honest with, YOU i would
Have baltimore in, There philadelphia in, There Green bay in,
there Maybe buffalo in. There so maybe they would be
the fifth. Team But i'm, wondering or MAYBE i put
in The. Chargers But i'm wondering if.

Speaker 3 (01:50:48):
You would hold, on hold, tek hold tek hold it
just stop for a. Moment you would Put baltimore The.
Chargers and what'd you?

Speaker 4 (01:50:55):
Say?

Speaker 2 (01:50:56):
Cincinnati, NO i Said, Baltimore, No, no Said.

Speaker 4 (01:51:00):
Baltimore who are the?

Speaker 2 (01:51:01):
Teams you, Said, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Baltimore, Philadelphia buffalo In.

Speaker 3 (01:51:08):
Greece which the five teams that you you would put
in The Super bowl ahead Of Kansas? City and you
still Add Kansas city in the five you had to
reach for The. Chargers why in the world would you
put any of those teams in ahead Of Kansas?

Speaker 4 (01:51:20):
City years maybe phil who just beat.

Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
Them so you're still you're still on The Kansas.

Speaker 3 (01:51:25):
Yes they're better off on offensive. Line their first round
pick would have been a quote unquote lottery pick if
he Was. Southy don't don't fall into the. Trap don't do.
It they're still really. Good they're still gonna win the.
Division mahomes is still Is Andy reich still the, Coach
yes he, Is Patrick mahomes still the. QUARTERBACK I i
don't like them in the first. Game i'm going with

(01:51:47):
the with The chargers in that.

Speaker 4 (01:51:48):
Game that's.

Speaker 3 (01:51:49):
FINE i, mean they had a season two years ago
where they lost to The raiders On christmas and still
won The Super.

Speaker 4 (01:51:55):
Bowl So i'm not gonna believe The chiefs.

Speaker 3 (01:51:58):
Are dead until you UNTIL i see the casket in
front of.

Speaker 2 (01:52:02):
Me.

Speaker 4 (01:52:02):
Okay, well, also.

Speaker 2 (01:52:03):
They're not gonna win ten games by one score or west.
That that's not going.

Speaker 3 (01:52:07):
Don't say they're. Not, YEAH i don't think you can say.
That they are the, greasiest luckiest team in the history of.
Ever when it comes to making their own. Lot they're.

Speaker 2 (01:52:15):
Good that's. Unstainable you can't do. That you just can't
be sustainable for like ten. Years it seems like they
don't blow teams, out they find ways to. Win, Paul
you've created this, One. Arnie i'm Holding arnie to, that
and we've got the audio. Two if the forty Nine
ers go to The Super, Bowl arnie AND i will

(01:52:36):
be attending the game together On arnie's. Dying MAYBE i
shouldn't have said that so. Quickly the forty nine is
probably not as bad AS i, thought you, know but
especially with The rams and. All but what other buddy
you ever brought up The rams and what's going to
be with their quarterback? Situation how bad has he? Heard
And Matthew, Stafford i'm just so worried about, them to be,

(01:52:57):
HONEST i don't know if it's gonna be so easy for,
Them i'll tell.

Speaker 3 (01:52:59):
You but the one thing With Matt stafford That i'm
pretty sure THAT i know is THAT i just don't.

Speaker 2 (01:53:05):
Know, YEAH i mean he's just about to, say you
don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:53:07):
ANYTHING i don't know anything about what's going on. There
it's it's very confusing to me because he never PLAYS
i mean mcveigh's never played his guys in the, preseason
and So i'm not surprised by, that but just the
roller coaster of oh, yeah he's having. This it's not

(01:53:28):
even a, process but they basically burn the nerve endings
so he doesn't feel the. Pain they're not fixing his back, Issue,
Arnie they're just making sure he doesn't feel the, pain, right,
now so is that really?

Speaker 2 (01:53:38):
SMART i don't, know, GEEZ i have no. Idea that
doesn't sound good, though.

Speaker 4 (01:53:42):
For but he'll get him through the.

Speaker 3 (01:53:44):
SEASON i GUESS i like the rams if he's. Healthy
but that's that great. Caveat, Oh, warren my, Man warren's
on the road to. Night he, Writes, Hey, arnie make
a future pick on the twenty seventy One Super.

Speaker 4 (01:53:55):
Bowl thanks to CHAT, gpo.

Speaker 3 (01:53:58):
Here's one From Matt arnie can definitely run for politics
when he moves To. Connecticut he dodges questions like a
pro thank, you.

Speaker 2 (01:54:05):
Thank you very.

Speaker 4 (01:54:05):
Much that's a great. Take is that's? MONEY i don't.

Speaker 2 (01:54:08):
See i'm come, on not seeing a lot of these
tweets that you're. READING i never see a bunch of.
THESE i don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:54:13):
Why so, BASICALLY i look at our. Mentions i'll search your.
Mentions i'll search my mentions.

Speaker 4 (01:54:19):
And do is that?

Speaker 2 (01:54:20):
Notifications?

Speaker 4 (01:54:22):
No, yes that's. Notifications, okay that's WHAT i to, Boy Victor.

Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
Wright arenie all my money with. You i'm on The
eagles Versus. Cowboys eagles in a blowout there you, go, yeah,
yeah you're gonna.

Speaker 4 (01:54:34):
Cause victor is freaking.

Speaker 2 (01:54:35):
MORTGAGE i don't see how The cowboys can even keep
this game. CLOSE i can see like the final score
of forty three to. Ten when it's all said and,
done it's going to be an ugly game to start
this year.

Speaker 3 (01:54:46):
OFF i, okay and one more here before we get,
out mister. Nobody speaking of teams going forward on fourth,
Down Florida state went forward in the fourth yesterday fourth
and two from their own twenty, six and they got it,
easily which led to the game clinching. Touchdown now that

(01:55:08):
might have been the other game you were thinking. Of
it might have been. Fourth, yeah that is, gutsy.

Speaker 2 (01:55:12):
Though that is.

Speaker 3 (01:55:13):
Crazy it's something we've, seen not just it's been in
college for the better part of the last three to four,
years and you're seeing it grow in the pro. Ranks
two teams are not afraid to go for it on
fourth down in their own. Territory Quick, Break arnie's picks
