Didn't you do a show Saturday morning? Yep?
Speaker 3 (00:28):
Plenty of time to get over there.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
It was you know what?
Speaker 1 (00:30):
I again, Chris again, for the one hundredth time. I'm
a bigger sports fan than you and our listeners out there.
I don't get over something. Would what do you me
get over this?
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Did we watch this weekend happen? You know we've been
telling you about watch sports.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
This was the worst sports weekend, you know, the four
day weekend.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Of my I shood. You're saying Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sun.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
It was the worst four days of sports of my
entire life. I mean, think about this. We'll get to
the Dolphins and Tuah, and then even my Mets lost,
and then teams I wanted to lose. For the Mets
to look good. They all won, except for finally the
Braves and then teams. I just wanted to lose because
(01:17):
I wanted people to be miserable like I was miserable,
like your raiders. They were down by ten, they come
back to win, so then you're happy, and I have
to be miserable by myself. My wife was so aggravated
with me she couldn't even be in the same room
with me anymore. She said, all its sports karma coming
back at me for rooting against openly rooting against everybody
(01:40):
else's team out there.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
I mean, do you do you buy that? Do you
think maybe you're getting a little dose of karma?
Speaker 4 (01:46):
Or are you not?
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Karlie shut?
Speaker 1 (01:48):
She was mad because she just mad at me because
I criticized dinner again because I told her I wanted
like one of those smash.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Burghers, and she did one.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
She didn't even give me onion wrings or fries, so
I was madout that, but she didn't even make it
well done. And three, I said I wanted a smash burger,
you know where it's flat, And I guess she got
mad at me and she took her hand and smooshed
it down on the burger, and then she goes, there's
your smash burger.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
We're gonna do this all night. You know there's a
good Sunday night game going on. I just want to
get it all out now, Just just get it all
out everyone. Your so you understood.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Do you understand that my football season's done two weeks
into the two weeks into.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
The me If I don't, I don't want to be
that guy. But if you would listen.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
To no, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
The Twitter followers and the listeners of the show, Patrick
Mary mack to say, we try to warn you that,
you know, number one, you're gonna lose some games, and
the season's not over with the loss anymore, especially in college.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Do you understand that I've been waiting since last year, last.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Year, every single year.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
No, no, but this was gonna be the year because well,
we were gonna get healthy. We didn't have to play
an antarcticle against the Kansas City Chiefs out there. My
my Arizona Wildcats. Got everybody back. We got the quarterback,
you got the coach, we got the wide receiver. We
were going to that Poloni Conference, the Big Sky or
(03:12):
whatever whatever conference we're in now.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
You mean the one that that blew you out on
Friday night, that conference that was so uncalled for.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
I'm just pointing out.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
That wasn't a conference game, by.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
The way, but it's a team in your conference.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
That wasn't a conference game.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Again, it's a team in your conference. It's the dumbest
thing ever.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
There's maybe I should start doing like political talk and
filling for Clay and Bond.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
No, don't do it. You know, I'm actually encouraging that. Yeah,
why don't you go do that. I mean, there's there's
something political that happened today. We can just talk about
that for the next year. Be a call.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Republicans, Democrats, give me a call.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Now, what would be your foundation that you.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
I don't know you for. You want to do a
flat tax? Tell me yes or no.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
I don't know anything else.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
I mean, I'm just we can do this all night,
because at least by my count, Roman numerals four through
like eight, or all about the Dolphins, and then Roman
numerals eleven through seventeen, we're all about college. I want
to know you time, which every single time I bring
up a college game, you're gonna somehow bring it back
to Aaron.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
I want to get it all out now.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
No, I want the chemistry tutor gone. I want him gone.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
You want your coach fired.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
I want the chemistry tutor gone. You know there was
I forget which former player was talking about, like it's
a joke that he's a coach in the NFL, that
he was just like a statistics guy or something like that,
that he's he's not a football coach. He's like a
he's like a numbers guy out there. I told you
you want to be tutored in chemistry, he's your guy
(04:45):
if you want a football coach. I'm a jerm about that.
I've been telling you that from day one, have I not?
Have I not been saying that. I've I've been telling
you that.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
You only seem to say it when they lose.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
No, stop it. I've been telling you that. I go,
look at the he looks like he should be teaching chemistry, a.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Chemistry just as a sidebar. He's not known as in
numbers are an analytics guy. So you're saying this, he's
more of an offensive genius, and oh yeah, he's a genius. Shanahan.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
He's like, yeah, like Shanahan quarterback whisper, offensive whisper yeah,
mister quarterback whisper, I'm going to trade everybody for a
guy that probably wouldn't even play in the NFL right now.
Just embarrassing.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
What do you call yourself again? What's your nickname?
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Stinking genius?
Speaker 2 (05:31):
What's your record in NFL picks right now?
Speaker 1 (05:33):
One and ten in?
Speaker 3 (05:36):
I think you're kind of losing the platform to me.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Imagine I had I had the Texans, I had the
Texans minus six and a half. I believe you're a.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Good shape made field goal makes it nineteen to ten
that we might even.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
Even my pick steak, I what did you have? That's
what we're actually doing.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
We got a new segments.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
You said you have ever done still in the plane?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
No, you put it on the line. You've got to
pay off some of your bets at something you ain't.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
The only game I won was Washington and the Giants.
And if people went and said, well, I agree with
you on that, and did opposite on all the other picks,
they're like millionaires today.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
How would they know which one to pick? Though?
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Well, everybody you know what he was picking the Giants right,
Nobody was gonna do go ahead and do that, So I.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Mean the game did take some last second dramatics in
order to get the dove.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Otherwise I would have been I would have been like,
oh for eleven. I mean, seriously, there's there's something wrong
with me. It's like I'm being Jinks or something. It's
like ever since Mary came on the show, right now
and then and then I about my Wildcats up seven
nothing the first drive that I would have bet, not
(06:56):
forget about betting my job. I would have bet my
wife that we were going to roll for like forty points.
Forget about seven for seven. It's a miracle that God
hasn't killed you yet.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
The stuff you say on air, it's a surprise.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Yes, it's just a miracle. I mean that was that
was the worst game.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
You gotta pay off your bats.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
I mean, you just can't sit here and spew this
trash talk and then never have any repercussions.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
That's the only way you're gonna learn. I think I
know that. I think the boss is trying to get
a hold of me to fire. But do you understand that,
like people get get.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Got ahold of you yesterday to have you fill in
for a shoow.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
No, that was like an emergency filling butt me let
me explain something to you, Like, you know, like some
people get hired here because they played in the NFL,
or you know, they played professional sports. I got hired
because I'm smarter than everybody else here, so you know,
especially with my picks. And now look what's going on.
It's like it's like I don't know, It's like I
(07:54):
got some somebody's sticking to voodoo doll up ins in
me or or something. It's it's crazy. I just you
know what, maybe instead of me doing my picks, I
should have people.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
You're not your picture gone? You bet them no and
you put them on the line.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Last Maybe I should have the listeners give me their
picks and I use their picks as my own picks.
How about that.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Well here's the thing that sounds great. But you would
change them all because you wouldn't agree with them. No, no, no,
not at all, No, not at all. Oh lord, yeah,
well fill in the Plank will make his debut tonight.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
No, I didnot. I gotta give my pigs.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
No.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
You bet them last week? Did I bet you them
on the line?
Speaker 2 (08:38):
I said, if Arizona loses and I think I even
threw if Miami loses out there. You gotta give up
the pig segment. You said I quit my job. If
they said you said Arizona, well, then there you go.
They lost.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
I whoa, I I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
I remember this. I do remember the.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Arizona one. I must have missed the end of the
game because they beat the Rams forty one time.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Arizona.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Here, you didn't make it, Clair, You didn't make it, Claire.
So would you like to keep your pigs? There's the loophole?
There you go, there's the loophole.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
I tried.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
See, I told you, yeah, can we can? We get
to the games?
Speaker 5 (09:19):
That?
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Are you done? Is there anything else you want to add?
Anything else? We get to this?
Speaker 1 (09:23):
I just I just want you to know that the
Dolphins season's over. Okay, the Dolphins future is over.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
The whole.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Everything it's done. We need another quarterback. I would love
I would. I would drive out to Miami and pick
up Tom Brady myself and and throw him on my
back and carry him to the stadium with tears in
my eyes.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
How far do you think you could get him?
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Like if he if he said, yeah, come grab me,
throw me over your back, Arny, I'll get there.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
How fun do you think you could carry him.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
I could carry him one hundreds of miles over a
broken glass. Okay, all right, a broken glass to get
Tommy Uh to my Dolphins. So they're done. The season's over,
and let's be honest to us. I mean, he's never
gonna be the same quarterback. He's gonna come back seasons
for the seasons. O V E R. I can't believe
that the Raiders actually have a better chance of making
(10:19):
the playoffs. That's so disgusting for even me to say
than the Dolphins and Dobbins. I think that we've been eliminated.
But there's no way we went in Seattle next week zero.
I wish I had a gazillion dollars. I wish i'd
get who is that? I wish I had a gazillion
dollars to bet on the Seattle Seahawks next weekend.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Well you have money, I mean, but I would bet
I bet all our jobs, the four of our jobs.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
I'm going with it's a guarantee, it's a guarant if
there's a garant, it's my pick of the lifetime. Remember
I'm one to know one my pick of the lifetime.
So I got that going.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
What was your first pick of all.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
I don't know, but I know I got it right.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Well, okay, we're having a very wild finish to this
Bears Texans game in Sunday Night football. We'll get back
to the hand ringing for Arnie Spaniard, second interception of
the game by Caleb Williams after he was near.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
He's been sacked four times.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
He was nearly sacked again, somehow spun away from it,
got picked off. The Houston Texas have a chance to
pad their lead. They're up nineteen to ten with twelve
fifty to go in the game.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
C J.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Stroud's been really good. Twenty of thirty three for two
hundred and thirty three yards on a night Arnie were
I mean, Houston hasn't really been able to run the
football very well, only what two point eight yards per
carry for Joe Mixon. Benico Collins has been awesome. The
Texans crowd. I still am in awe of what is
developed here at Houston, because this is one of those
(11:50):
teams that started OZH and two a couple of years
last year and still end up making the playoffs. So
this has been a heck of a game. Tonight a
little bit more of a rock fight. Defensively, I think
than we expected.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Yeah, and you know there was people that were actually
taking the Texans is a long shot too, and I
don't even know how much of a walk shot they
were to go ahead win the Super Bowl. A little
bit of a problem though. What's gonna go happen with
Joe Mixon went to the tenth and went right into
the locker room. It did look bad. I'm not gonna speculate,
but who knows if it's if it's a slide break
or something like that. He wouldn't have been the greatest
(12:21):
game running the ball. But who's gonna run the ball?
Is it gonna be Acres? Is it gonna be Dell?
They're gonna go ahead and get pierced back soon. I
know he's got the hamstring, so that's that's gonna be interesting.
They were by running back by committee last year anyway,
so they may have to go back to that if
Mixon's gonna be at any long period of time. But otherwise,
there pass the game looks phenomenal, especially that they added digs.
(12:45):
Even though he hasn't done a whole heck of a lot.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
Tonight, He hasn't done a lot tonight, But just him
being there, it seems like it's opening things up because
for Nico Collins. But Nico did great last year anyway.
I thought Nico was good last year. What he's doing
right now is next level. And part of that is scheme,
and part of that is having Stefan Diggs to open
it up. But a big sack gets the Bears the
ball back to allab It first and ten on their
(13:08):
own six yard line after the interception. So the interception
hurts because they had a little bit of something cooking.
But now they're gonna have to go ninety four and
then plus because they need a touchdown and more down nine.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
I expected a little bit more offense here in this
game tonight.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
I thought maybe, And don't get me wrong, the offensive
plays have been huge, but maybe with two defensive minded
head coaches, aren't you, we're getting the kind of slugfest
that both of these guys wanted.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
I thought it was going to be an over two. Remember, now,
the Bears do have a pretty good defense, anyway, they
saw that, we saw that last week. They're known for
their defense. They've stepped up. They could have gotten a
lot worse. I agree with you, they settled for nineteen.
What was interesting the score was was it thirteen to
three or maybe it was ten to three. It was
fourth and like an inch, not even inches, like an inch.
(13:58):
Remember when they was third chat it was thirty to three.
They moved it up and he decided to go ahead
and kick the field goal. I'm like, what are you
doing what? It's fourth and like an inch away and
you're on their territory. So I was shocked that he
went for something like that. That's that's the ultimately being conservative,
you certainly go for it on fourth down in that situation.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
I think that Caleb Williams has looked a little better,
but you still see that he is a rookie. He
tries too much too often. But better, yes, I would agree,
much better. They're not doing a good job protecting him.
And we brought up how poor Houston has been running
the football. My goodness, Chicago has just been awful. They're
leading Russia right now. It's Caleb Williams three carries for
(14:40):
nineteen yards. De Andre Swift, who, by the way, I
feel like every time dere Swift touches the football, he's
like running it seems like crazy and.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
He's only picking up like a yard.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
I don't know if it's a design of the play
or what, but the dude has probably run more miles
tonight than actual yards. He's got twelve carries for four
fourteen yards, also four catches for twenty four But from
a numbers nerds perspective, there's the update. We got a
little time left in this game, a lot of work
to do. Bears trailed the Texans nineteen to ten as
(15:12):
we had down the home stretch of this one. And
by the way, did you see the injury that took
place in this game?
Speaker 1 (15:20):
To the Chain Gang guy, yes, yes, I did that,
Yes I did, and they took him off the card.
He felt he fell backwards at that point that was.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Our well, he fell backwards without anyone touching him. I
felt terrible for the dude. He started with the yard marker,
that's right. And then earlier today in the Ravens Raiders game,
there was this massive delay and TV never really said
anything about it. I had to go to Twitter. One
of the one of the Chain Gang guys in Baltimore
(15:48):
just dropped like he went down too, and they were
worried that he was coding on the field from what
they were saying. And he came back to and all
was right with that. But that was a scary moment too.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
Today, I gotta ask you, who is the uh the
sideline reporter down on the field on the game tonight
for the Texans. Do you remember you know?
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Well, I I mean Andrew is Andrew not Andrea Kramer.
Who am I thinking of? On the Sunday Night football crew?
Why are you ask.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
When when the guy fell backwards? Uh, they asked if
she was around? He goes, Oh, I was right, Oh yeah,
she goes, I was. I was right near him. And
then when they showed the replay, I go, I can't
even see you're you're nowhere to be found again.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Yeah, you know what, I know.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
I just had to get that. I had to get
that in there.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
Well, you got it. What You're that mad?
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Now you're taking a shot at Melissa Stark in her
sideline reporting from where she is on the field.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Oh, I'm mad at everybody. I'm just so crabby. Seriously,
I I can't. I couldn't eat dinner. I like, could
I could eat half my cheeseburger? Arnie.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Well, the good news, the good news is good for
the arteries. I mean, that's good for the cholesterol. And
you got an early start yesterday because what I mean
five am. You're usually up at that time anyway here
on Fox Sports Radio with you, and I couldn't sleep,
So I mean literally, you got that phone call to
fill in, probably right in the middle of the Arizona game.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
It was it wasn't the phone call because I wouldn't
answer my call because I saw it was from the boss.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
I was.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
I was afraid he was gonna fire me, so I
wouldn't answer the call. And then he called like four
or five times and I wouldn't answer. It's finally he
texted me and I just went, Okay, leave me up.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
But when we come back to the track dot Com Studios,
we we got ten to fifteen left in this game,
Bears trail nineteen to ten. We'll keep you updated on
Sunday Night Football. But let's dive into the day.
Speaker 5 (17:40):
Man.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
They are just killing Caleb Williams. He's getting no help
right now from his offensive line. Bears will have to
punt it away again. But we had great games, great
offensive explosions, and Arnie I say, when we come back,
I say, we dive into Roman numeral number two because
a lot of teams are zero and two right now,
and history would tell you they are done, so done,
(18:01):
but done, Zoe, Could there be one of these zero
to two teams that make a run. We'll dive into
it next on Fox Sports Radio. Fox Sports Radio has

Speaker 3 (19:29):
How did that go?
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Because I don't think he would take some of your
bs man, that's that's the fellas. No, we got around
for your crime.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
It was it was before the NFL Sunday, so I wasn't.
Speaker 2 (19:40):
Well, your Dolphins had already lost and your wildcats got smoked.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Yeah. I tried to be somewhat, you know.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
You try to be cool.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
It didn't work very well. I told him, you know,
I'm pretty much we did the first hour on long
suffering fans, and I said, well, there's the Dolphin fans obviously,
the Bills fans, the Viking fans. You know, we just
you know, all commiserated together all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
So well, let me let me point one thing out.
Last year, at this time, among the two and oh
teams in the National Football League included the Atlanta Falcons,
the New Orleans Saints, and this one shocked me. The
Washington Commanders were two and oh at this point last season.
The Houston Texans were oh and two. Wow, and now
(20:28):
here we are watching them on Sunday Night football. I
don't know why they can't put away the Bears. They
let the Bears keep hanging around, but it's a two
possession game with six twenty two to go in the game.
Bears out. The football back down nineteen to ten this year.
And by the way, among those oh and two teams
that have ended up making the playoffs, last year's Texans
(20:48):
were one of them. You found the stat Yeah, two
hundred and seventy nine teams have started oh and two,
only thirty two have made the playoffs. Let's pigeonhole that
down a little bit more. It's twenty twenty. Thirty two
teams have started oh and two Since twenty twenty that's
when the playoffs expanded to fourteen teams, only Cincinnati and Houston.
(21:09):
Cincinnati in twenty twenty two and Houston in twenty twenty
three have started oh and two and still made the playoffs.
Only five of those oh and two teams are he
Five of those thirty two teams in the last four
years even went on to have a winning record. So now,
more than ever, avoiding oh and two a bigger deal
(21:31):
than I think we could have imagined.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
But there's some.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Really some teams we thought were gonna be really good
sitting at oh and two, and a couple teams we
didn't have very high hopes for that are sitting at
two and o right now, including Patrick Seattle Seahawks that
are two and oh right now. The New Orleans Saints
are two and oh. The Bucks are two and oh.
Don't look now, but the Vikings are two and oh.
So I mean there is jaw dropping in both the
(21:54):
two and o and the oh and two mingles. Ravens,
there are you maybe more surprised by some of those
non contenders that have had the fast start. Are maybe
a little bit more surprised by some of the teams
we thought would just be I don't want to say unstoppable,
but solid, and they're just not getting any traction early.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
I'm more surprised about some of the teams that we
thought were just gonna be mediocre off to really good starts.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
That's what the Steelers, Well, like.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Minnesota, that's one of them. I'm like, I thought this
team was gonna actually be putrid, and here they are.
They're sitting there two and ozero and they've played, they've
played well, they've worked well. I mean, they've beat a
good San Francisco team, and I know you don't have
Christian McCaffrey, but that's beside the point. Still a good
victory there. You have to worry about Justin Jefferson though
they say he's gained to game. I guess nothing serious.
(22:41):
So you know, I'm surprised they've gotten off to such
a good start. They've actually they've looked really, really good.
Same thing with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Remember, I'm like, that's
streaks coming to an end with that five hundred record
or or better. They're not gonna they're gonna be horrible,
and Russell Wilson goes down, and here they are in
two and oh, off to a pretty good start there
(23:03):
and one on. The patrons have looked good at one
on one probably should be two. Yeah, yeah, they should
do the other way. Just Ravens, who's on and two
right now? Who I thought were easily gonna go ahead
and win the AFC North, easily the best team in
(23:23):
the division. They still may, but they just look out
of swords. To be honest with you.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
By the way, isn't it only fitting that he had
two hiccups in his connection right whenever he was complaining
about teams.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
That he liked being going too?
Speaker 2 (23:36):
All right, so let's let's let's hit these okay, Oh,
and two teams that you think can bounce back. I
would put both the Ravens and the Bengals in that category.
The Cincinnati has been historic slow start is for some
reason under Burrow, but we'll get that in a bit.
Get this schedule over the next three weeks for the
Ravens and O and two team travels to what's going
to be a I think a renewed, refocused Cowboys team
(23:58):
after what happened today. Then they get Buffalo at home
and Sunday Night Football in the final weekend in September.
Then they go to Cincinnati, aren't you? I mean those
are three games where I don't know, maybe they're a
favorite one time in those three games and they.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Bounce back, I don't think. So it's gonna be tough going.
Just to look at least to the next three games.
It may decide the rest of the year for them.
They better get at least one or two of them.
Matter of fact, they better get at least two. But
if they get one and start off one and four,
that may be too much.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
On the other side of it, just taking with the Bengals,
they get a little bit more of a favorable schedule
because they take on Washington next week, and even though
Washington won today, wasn't pretty. And then they go to Carolina,
who might just be terrible sot at best, you know,
I mean, it's really bad if they're not two and
two going into that Ravens game in week six or
what is that week five, right, they've Cincinnati's gotta be
(24:56):
three or two to two at that point.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Or are they gonna trip up? I mean, if you're
going to be that team that loses to the Carolina Panthers,
your season's done anyway, so forget about it. You might
as well. It's so veer at that point there, Chris, All.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Right, let's flip the script when we come back. Those
are a couple of zero to two teams that maybe
we still are buying a little stock in. What about
some two and zero teams that maybe we think have
a little bit more juice than we gave him credit for.
That's coming up, Max. First, let's get caught up on everything,
including I don't know what to make of the sent
of that football game. See de Sager, what you got?
Speaker 8 (25:27):
It's a game with nineteen penalties and I guess on
why it's still going. Oh my god, we got about
four minutes left in Houston, Texans nineteen to ten over
the Bears. Chicago rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has thrown two interceptions.
Chicago veteran receiver Keenan Allen is out with a heel
injury tonight. Now Rookie wide receiver Roma Dunze is active
(25:48):
for the Bears, but he has just one catch in
this game. Meanwhile, receiving for the Texans, Nico Collins eight catches,
one hundred and thirty five yards and a touchdown. And
we do have a Monday night game coming up in
Philadelphia tomorrow. Eagles wide receiver Aj Brown out due to
a hamstring injury. Philly hosting Atlanta on Monday Night. As
(26:09):
far as injuries, Texans running back Joe Mixon returned tonight
from an ankle injury, hurt on a hip drop tackle
and it was not flagged. I thought that was an
emphasis this year. Yeah, okay, And so he was not
in the game, by the way, in the fourth quarter,
and Cam Akers was and fumbled it. So it's still
only nineteen ten Texans. As far as other injuries, we'll
get to that in a moment. But we have yet
(26:31):
another possible close game. It's two games left in the weekend,
one tonight, one tomorrow, and we've had ten games decided
by one score this weekend, including four that had the
game winning score in the last minute or in overtime.
So you add last week, that's twenty games already this
season decided by one score by eight points or less.
(26:52):
And we can update last weekend's stat of how many
fifty yard plus field goals are being made because we've
had more tonight with Kayimi fair kickers in the first
two weeks this season, when attempting a field goal of
at least fifty yards, they've made ninety percent of them
so far. Wow, thirty four for thirty eight for a
full NFL season. The best percentage for the long kicks
(27:15):
is eighty six point five percent, and that was just
over a decade ago. Tonight, Houston's winning because Fairband is
four for four on field goals in the first half.
He hit from forty seven, from fifty six and fifty
nine yards out. In the fourth quarter a fifty three
yard field goal nineteen to ten Texans over the Bears
three and a half minutes to go in this game.
(27:37):
So why do people love NFL football? Because the games
are close? A, it's football. B. Most of the games
are pretty even at see because your team could go
from last to first in one season. Remember the stat
for the last twenty years, Almost every year there's one
team that wins its division a year after finishing went
from one.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Of the Super Bowl last week to be How about that?
Speaker 8 (28:00):
That occurs every season on this show. As for the
other injuries, running back Isaiah Pacheco and the Chiefs suffered
what's called an ankle injury. He's in a walking boot
and on crutches. Kansas City's two to zero after beating
the Bengals twenty six to twenty five on a fifty
one yard field goal on the final play. Rams wide
receiver Cooper Cup left late first half at Arizona with
(28:20):
an ankle injury. He's in a walking boot and already
wide receiver Puka Akua the Rams is uninjured reserve with
a sprain pcl Arizona blitz the Rams forty one to ten.
Pittsburgh won at Denver thirteen to six. Colt's defensive lineman
DeForrest Buckner and rookie defensive end layout To Latu were
ruled out of today's game due to ankle and hip injuries, respectively.
(28:41):
After the Chargers win at Carolina twenty six to three,
quarterback Justin Herbert said he had X rays after today's game.
He didn't miss any time on the field, but he
said he got rolled up on in the second half,
and Tampa Bay defensive tackle Videvea believed to have suffered
an MCL sprain. According to NFL Network, Titans running back
tysh J. Spears did not return to his game due
(29:02):
to an ankle injury. Under three minutes to go at Houston,
It's Texans nineteen thirteen over the Chicago Bears because of
a fifty four yard field goal from Cairo Santos of Chicago.
He had already hit from fifty three earlier in the
new AP College Football poll. Texas is number one for
the first time in sixteen years. Georgia slips to number two.
(29:26):
NASCAR victory for Chris Buscher, and in baseball, the Dodgers
at Atlanta this evening scored seven times in the top
of the ninth, including three straight homers. Thank goodin beat
the Braves nine to two because the Mets had lost
earlier to one at Philadelphia and metstar shortstoff Francisco Lindor
left with the bad Vets. The Mets and Braves are
still tied for the final NL wild card two weeks
(29:49):
left in the regular season.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Back to you, thanks, Steve.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
We come to you live from the tyrack dot com studios.
That field goal was just good nineteen to thirteen. It
doesn't matter. The only re and the Bears are moving
the football is because the Texans keep making mistakes. The
late hit, the personal foul, roughing the passer by Mario Williams,
and you can sense the frustration everywhere. They can't move
the football right now. The Texans are smothering them. And
(30:15):
even when Catle Williams gets time, he's inaccurate right now,
So it's heartbreak city for the Bears. But they're alive already.
They got a hope here if they can get the
football back. Houston has at first intent on their own
thirty nine, trying to lead the clock out and win
this football game. Now, two teams that are two and
zero right now that have my attention.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
One of them.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
I was trading notes with Shady Sean before the show started,
and he brought up Baker Mayfield. And I think it's
time that we stop. And as much as you guys know,
I'm an unapologetic homer for Baker always. You love me,
you love him, I think he deserves his shine, he
deserves his flowers. It wasn't pretty today, and the Lions,
(30:56):
I think, have a lot of themselves to blame. It
wasn't the greatest performance from Mayfield. But Arnie he's got
this Tampa team two and zero, He's got him, believe it.
Chris Godwin seven catches for one hundred and seventeen yards.
Numbers don't matter, and even when they don't play their best,
they're still finding ways to win games in a division
(31:16):
that a they're the fitting champs of and B might
be a little bit better than we thought. I don't
know what new Orleans. We'll see, But what do you
what are you saying? What are you buying or sell?
When it comes to the Bucks and Baker right.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Now, all the years we've been doing this show, look
at his confidence level from when he was on the
Browns to where he is now. And I know when
you grow older, you become more mature, but it's it, really,
it's like night and day. We have so much more
we as you know, fans have so much more confidence
in him. And you're right, he deserves his due. He's
(31:52):
he is passed expectations from when he go off the Browns.
We figured he was going to be a habitual backup somewhere.
He got a starting job and all you needed was
a different system. You know, sometimes you say the grass
isn't always greener. This time it turned to be. It
turned to be greener. It worked out for him. So
so good for Baker Mayfield, you know.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
Yeah, not only Baker off to a great start. Sam
Darnold looks really good with the Vikings, who are two
and oh. They beat the forty nine ers today, And
I know the Saints were two and oh last year,
but this seems a little bit different.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
I tried to tell you did.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
I not.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
I don't think you did. Arno, I don't think you've
ever tried to tell who.
Speaker 1 (32:28):
Picks the Saints to win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
Well, you said it after their first preseason game last
year and then changed your pick.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
But I shouldn't have changed my pick. You know, I'm
always a year ahead of everybody else.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
But again, you changed your pick.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Stay else. Forty four to nineteen. Alvin Kamara had four touchdowns.
They could have scored one hundred if they wanted to.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
I know.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
But and then I see what I saw. The Saints
next week have a winnable game. Yeah, I think, Well
the Eagles, that'll be a fun one. But I'm kind
of buying right now. I don't know if I'm buying
the Argers at two and oh, but I am impressed.
But I'm kind of buying a little bit of this
Saints and Viking stock right now. It's fun to see
Arnold and Carr but perform.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Well, remember when I said, if we're doing our power
rankings last week, the Cowboys would be power ranking number one.
If we're gonna do the power rikings this week, the
Saints would be number one. Right now? Would they not
be they they do look good. It does look like
the old Derek Carr. They look good offensively, they've got
the weapons. Let's see how things look next week. But
(33:27):
they they look the best in two and oh right now, Chris,
I like them.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
It's really impressive.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
That'll be a fun one next week against the Eagles,
and heck, we've got an Eagles game coming up tomorrow
night against the Falcons. All right, we're under the two
minute warning here, third down and long, Houston trying to
salt this game away. They lead the Chicago Bears nineteen
to thirteen, and I feel like this is one of
those games that if you're a Bears fan, you kind
(33:53):
of want to believe a little bit, but then in
that same vein Arnie, you probably also just want to
get out of there without any more injuries.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
But what happens.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
The Texans keep making mistakes, so we could have a
wild finish in this one coming up. Looks like the
Bears are going to get the football back. They trail
it though by six. It's nineteen to thirteen Texans. We'll
get to your tweets and your takes next with Arnie
and Plank on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (34:17):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
They were worse there.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
They're not like that because the Bears got the ball
back and completed a big pass, got a merely the midfield,
but then the bottle fell out. I mean, ballgame. The
Texans improved the two and oh on the season. They
beat the Bears in for a game not going to overtime,
gum shape the story about as.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
Long of a Sunday night football game as we've.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Had, right the longest ever. And then right as soon
as the game one final, the tweets started rolling in,
like Ahead News said, sorry, Caleb, you are not the
new Patrick Mahomes. G Dub said the saint Nintendo Caleb,
So you know, Nature Boys said Caleb is taking a
beating Welcome to Chicago. So everybody's taking little shots at
(35:21):
them there.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
Yeah, I mean it's his second NFL game. Patrick Mahomes
didn't play his first year in the NFL, So I'm
not ready to panic by any stretch of the imagination.
If I'm the Bears, or I'm a Bears fan or
Caleb believer like I am, because last year CJ. Stroud
started oh and two and everyone thought the Texans were terrible,
and in fact, I think if I remember he was, CJ.
(35:44):
Stroud was terrible in his first preseason game. And I'm
pretty sure we can find in the archives where you
probably buried him and wanted them.
Speaker 3 (35:50):
Cut than good.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
We can find them. Yeah, well we can, but just
we're not gonna die. We don't need we don't need
that evidence. The listeners pay attention, So I would say
take your shots now while you can. But I would
also add it seems like they are way out of
sorts with where a receiver is either a supposed to
be if it's gonna be back shoulder if I mean
(36:12):
it just it seemed as if And give the Texans
credit because I mean seven sacks was the number. There
weren't a lot of those sacks. There could have been
more too, I mean, get there could have been more.
He danced out of a lot and I don't know
if he had a comfortable pocket outside the first or
second drive all night long. But it's gonna be a
(36:33):
work in progress. And when you only get three point
two yards per carry and you're the team's leading rusher.
You're gonna struggle unless you have a running game to
help support you. Why are the vack Why are the
Vikings good right now? Running game support? Sam Darnold good defense?
Why are they say they could swift and tomorrow running
the football? Well, their offensive lines is not very good
right now.
Speaker 1 (36:51):
No, that is the problem though. But they picked up weapons.
That's why I thought they picked up Swift to go
ahead and help them with the running game. But he
hasn't done a whole like of a lot at that point.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
If I did, funny that you go right to the
text to take shots at Caleb Williams, but don't happen
to bring up any of the text about your picks
from earlier.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
I must have missed that. We're getting so many. I
must have. It's hard for me to go back to
the beginning.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
So it's it's really not.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
I think Colin writs, actually at stinking genius one is
kind of accurate.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
His genius stinks. I already was picked too. I have
used in minus six and a half.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
Well you got that one? Wait, hold on, it was
six and a half?
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (37:35):
Are you serious?
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (37:38):
I thought you said it was like three and a half.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
No, six and a half. I'm gonna double check right now,
but I'm pretty sure. Oh my, it was six and
a half. Yeah, so that means I was one and
eleven on my picks. Yeah, let me see here, Texas
minus six and.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
A half they won by six sow Ucla Dodger Frank
Wrights listening to Arnie's picks, I've got an idea are
can use the final segment to review a movie from
the seventies when the Dolphins used to be relevant.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
Ouch s has been that long and has been nature.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Boy, boy, he's on fire tonight.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Let's face it, we are still watching preseason games until October.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
There you go, Arnie. Hey the NFL.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
We're two weeks into a seventeen game, eighteen week season, and.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
It's already over for me though, I'm pretty much I've
written off the season for the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
Uh, Darryl Wrights, thanks for wasting time telling us what
we've been yelling at the radio every time Arnie starts
spewing his nonsense. The Dolphins season is over. We've known, Arnie,
the Wildcat season is over. We know you should get
at least a week of doing the picks and winners playing.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
Yeah, you guys knew that Tool was gonna get hurt
and get concussed and have to get taken.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Well, we didn't even think they were gonna be all
that great if he stayed healthy, is what we were saying. Oh,
you're so mean, Well, I'm just these are facts. They
gotta throw the ball down field. Stop going east and west,
go north and south.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
I don't know what they're doing.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Baker rights, It's nice that these offenses tonight make the
Dolphins look good. You tell me you couldn't find these
whenever you're taking your shots at mister nobody about the Raiders.
Has Arnie's team ever been completely buried On the air,
A certain FSR talk show host not only predicted a
Raiders loss, but a blowout, completely ignoring the fact that
(39:33):
the defense kept Vegas in the game last week until
the fourth quarter. Whoever that was should be fired, just
because if you're calling for a blowout and the Raiders
went on the road, maybe slips.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
I think he's talking about you.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
No, was that me?
Speaker 1 (39:48):
You?
Speaker 2 (39:48):
You didn't call for a blowout in the Raiders Ravens game.
I might have picked the probably did yeah. Uh, and
then Casey sly rights go Chiefs s burrowed chokes again.
When does the shine wear off from a few years
ago when they made a Super Bowl by beating the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
They're zero and two again. Yeah, they're just they're not
a good early season team.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
And I'm not buying.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
I know, James Jones got a lot of run when
it's like Joe Burrow is completely overrated. Now we got
Joe Burrow like one in seven in his first two games. Yeah,
he's terrible in the opening three games of the season. Man,
it's just been a thing. But I think they're still
gonna be okay. I mean, I don't think they're gonna
go fifteen and two, but I'm not. Don't put me
in the category of someone who's ready to bury Joe
(40:30):
Burrow quite yet.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
You put me in that category, please, You're done? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (40:34):
Well, what if they Dolphins traded for him and he
ends up in Miami.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Oh, I love that.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
He's terrible, He's awful. He just got traded to Miami.
You know what, I think his arm angles pretty good.
You know, he's just a guy that's uh need my weapons.
That he could throw too right. All right, keep the tweets,
cub and we'll get to him when we come back.

(41:22):

Thankfully it wasn't pretty. Nineteen point thirteen. The Texans win it.
Tough night for Caleb Williams sacks seven times, turn it
over twice. Texans look fairly efficient, but we got a
big injury. We'll be keeping an eye on with Joe Mixon.
They've got the Vikings next week and it seems as
(41:44):
if the early return speaking of injuries on Justin Jefferson
are pretty good. He said he's gonna be ready to go.
I don't know if I buy that.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
He said, yeah, it's gonna be a game in the
game situation. I don't know if he's gonna be there
ready for the next game, but it's not something that's
gonna link and he has to be put on IR
or anything like that for four weeks. So at least
that's that's a positive.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
Well, let's go ahead and talk about the pink elephant
in the room tonight. Speaking of injuries, we had one
major quarterback injury this weekend. It was on Thursday night,
so that means everyone got a chance to give their
hot take on Friday. I turned on the NFL kickoff
show today and it's all anyone was talking about AUNI
it's Tua. I think this was Roman numeral three four.
(42:28):
I do know Roman numeral four was five was Tua,
and then six was getting a replacement for Tua. Yeah,
but I don't think unless the neurological doctors come back
with something extremely concerning, I don't think he's stepping away
from the game here.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
I know he's going to try to come back, but
it's because of money. There's no doubt about that. I
don't know, it's not really up to him. I guess
it's up to the doctors if they want to go
ahead and clear him. Once he's cleared, there's no reason
that he shouldn't come back. You know, Steve Young was diagnosed,
what was it, with like eight or nine concussions. I
forget who the other quarterback was that had about eight
(43:04):
or nine concussions. You know, none of us said anything
about that at the point.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
We didn't know any better back then to be honest
with you, right, I mean, in fairness, when Steve Young
wants to talk about I had all my concussions, he's right,
He's not wrong, Arnie. But those are the days of well,
wrap some dirt on it and get back in there.
Are you hurt or is your bell wrong?
Speaker 9 (43:25):
Right?
Speaker 1 (43:26):
Has anybody said that Hamlin shouldn't be allowed, shouldn't be
playing in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
After what he went through?
Speaker 1 (43:31):
Do we say anything about like, man, look at those
offensive and defensive linemen. They're so fat they can get
diabetes or something.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
You know, I mean, how are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (43:41):
We really don't, you know, we really don't delve into
somebody's health so much. But when it comes to Tua
and the concussions, because it's the way it happened, and
you know, with his hands and stuff, and I think people,
you know, scared a lot of people out there.
Speaker 2 (43:56):
Yes, because it's happened more than once, and every time
it had happens, it happens on national TV, and it's
I think it's the second time it's happened on a
Thursday night.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
Wasn't it a night game? Whenever you have the proalysis
the last time when his hands started doing that thing.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
Right, but still not enough to keep him out of
the NFL or change his mind about coming back to.
Speaker 2 (44:16):
The NFL, if if the doctors tell him that his
brain's going to be a scrambled egg, because he keeps
that wasn't even a hard hit.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
I agreed, that wasn't even a hard hit. If it
was like a weird hit, it was like one of
those oh my goodness, you know.
Speaker 2 (44:33):
If I don't and I'm with you, Okay, I don't
think he needs to retire these people. But you want
to listen to former players, and there's been so many
tragedies over what we think CT and things of that nature.
But I just to sit there and try to compare
it to fat defensive lineman, I think is a little
bit of a reach, Arnie, and.
Speaker 1 (44:53):
Just it seems When we talk about other people's health
and whether they we never say anything about Alex Smith
coming back and playing in the the NFL. Actually, I
think I may have said something saying, why is this
guy doing it in his age? But look what happened.
That looked absolutely horrible and he almost lost his leg.
My goodness, But you know, people like, let him come back.
(45:14):
It's a great story. So I think Tua is gonna
come back. I don't know when he's going to come back.
That's going to be the question. It's not gonna be
for the next game. Could he miss just one game?
Is it gonna be two, is it two to four?
I kind of think it's gonna be on the side
of maybe just one game and he'll come back after
the Seattle game, I will.
Speaker 2 (45:36):
I don't think he's gonna play again this year, but
I think he's gonna be back next year. Really, I
don't think he's gonna play again this year. I think
they're gonna make him take some time. My this is
just my opinion, and I'm not saying that it's right.
If he thinks he can come back, and if the
doctor say he can come back, by all means, come
on back. Right. I mean, we have car crashes. It's
the NFL, it's college football's profile whatever. We have car
(45:58):
crashes every single play, Arnie, So concussions happen. You're right,
this one's a little bit more out in front. I
just I feel like that this one seems to get
a little bit more coverage because of a the scary
nature with which both of the concussions it took place
on national TV happened, and B because he's had so
many of them.
Speaker 3 (46:16):
What's this his third now in the NFL? Maybe third
of that?
Speaker 1 (46:20):
He had one at Alabama, which is four. How many
of you had If there's four that's been diagnosed, how
many of you had that have not been diagnosed? Or
that question, you know, reach of the public when they
say we caught your stealing or cut you driving under
the influence, it's probably not the first time you've done.
It's just the first time you got caught.
Speaker 6 (46:37):
You know.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
Well, that's because you got to make sure that you
take the back roads, aren't he? But I digress.
Speaker 2 (46:43):
Here's the thing, just a final thought, if you step
away from your fandom, if this was to a tongue
of I low the quarterback of like the Vikings. Would
you be saying the same thing that you're okay and
you have no problem with them coming back, or is
this where you really understand just how screwed your franchise is.
Speaker 3 (47:00):
If he's done so done.
Speaker 1 (47:01):
No, I would say he should come back. If he
wants to go ahead and come on back. You know
a lot of people saying, you know, he could be
you know, what's going to be the long term effects?
You know people also talk about the long term effects.
What would he think mentally? Here? He is not playing
the game that he loves and he feels absolutely fine.
You know when in a couple of weeks the headaches
(47:21):
go away and the sensitivity to light and he's just
feeling great, and he's not going to play yet alone
for the rest of the year, for the rest of
his life. What can that do on somebody's psyche when
it's all said none, no, no.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
But I do know the decision will be between him
and doctors. But I feel like he's kind of made
it very clear that he's going to do everything he
can to come in.
Speaker 1 (47:44):
By the way, Jason B. Diamond gave me the other
Troy Aikman, he said, was the other quarterback that I
was thinking about with the concussion.
Speaker 2 (47:51):
Well, he retired because of him in his career early.
He wanted to play longer, he couldn't with the concussion
problem that he was having.
Speaker 1 (47:59):
Yeah, but he I think like eight or something or
eight or nine diagnosed concussions. Again, how many have you
had when you're when you're not diagnosed.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
That's they say between six and eight for Akman's concussions
in his twelve year career.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
That's a lot.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
But I also I can't help in wonder, Arnie, if
there is a point with what we know now where
so much steps in and says, but you ain't doing
this anymore. And I don't know if that would be
the Dolphins. I don't know if that would be the NFLPA.
I don't know if you can right. I just I
want to see him play again. I want to see
him fight through this. And it's it's a but it's
(48:35):
a whole new world, and especially with the amount of
money and concussion settlements and and CTE.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
And all the issues.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
I just I feel like this is a really I
don't know if this is going to sound insincere or
short sighted, but I'll say it anyway. It's a really
bad time to have a concussion injury and say, oh, yeah,
I'm gonna play through this thing or I'm going to
fight through it, because everyone has its intentas up to
try to pounce on the NFL for any time that
then appear to be uncaring or maybe lesson sincere about
(49:05):
any concussion issue.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
Don't think that the NFL won't be monitoring how he
does this year and if they have to come up
with some type of new, you know, guidelines like if
you've been diagnosed with four concussions, maybe you gotta sit
out a game or something. I don't know. I can't
tell you, but I mean, well, what about it wouldn't
(49:27):
have been an extra concussion? They said it was as
bad back remember that one? Remember that would that be
which they did end up saying was a concussion. Okay,
so that doesn't count as a fifth one. That's not
you know, I don't know if that gout as a
fifth one. I I just don't know, But jezu, you
just hope that he's I don't think he's gonna miss
the rest of the year. I'm shocked that you said that, Chris.
(49:48):
That's just my take.
Speaker 2 (49:49):
Yeah, that's just my take. I mean, listen, I want
him to play again. You've already got a date circled
in your mind, so we'll see where the Dolphins are
by that point. But I mean, you you send me
this list in Roman numeral seven, of all these replacements
you've got, why do.
Speaker 3 (50:03):
You keep putting Colin Kaepernick on these lists?
Speaker 1 (50:07):
Because maybe it's only for like a game or two
and that'd be a perfect fill And I guess I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (50:12):
I mean, really, how would you feel if Colin Kaepernick would.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
No, I wouldn't like it, but I just put it
on the list because I mean, somebody else is going
to bring it up, so it might as well be me.
Could you imagine if they use Kaepernick for like one
or two games? Could you imagine if he won with
the meat? Oh my goodness, what would talk radio be
at that point if Colin Kaeperdick came back and not
only did that, came back and won a couple of games.
Speaker 3 (50:37):
I don't I don't think.
Speaker 2 (50:38):
You truly know how hard it is to learn an
offense and to play quarterback for one game. But anyway,
let's move on. You have Jimmy Garoppolo on this list.
But he's still suspended.
Speaker 1 (50:49):
Yeah. Still he's always suspended for two more games?
Speaker 2 (50:52):
Is that what it is?
Speaker 8 (50:53):
Or no?
Speaker 3 (50:54):
Yeah, two four games suspension to start the season.
Speaker 6 (50:56):
Right.
Speaker 1 (50:57):
Uh, this was more for long term, I guess would
with Jimmy g if if.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
Carson Wentz the backup in Kansas City, right again, Yeah,
that's more long term. But if if if like you're
right into it, doesn't come back this year, I would not.
Speaker 3 (51:11):
I wouldn't go get anyone. I let Scaler Thompson do it.
Speaker 1 (51:13):
Really would Mike Carson Wentz?
Speaker 2 (51:15):
I would? Okay, So let's real quick, let's let's ask
this out before we get to the rest of the
games today. Todd Furman coming up in ten minutes from
now right here on Fox Sports Radio. But you're saying,
even if he's coming back, go make a move.
Speaker 1 (51:29):
No, if he's coming back like in a game or two, I.
Speaker 3 (51:31):
Well, it's gonna be more than a game or two.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
You know that.
Speaker 4 (51:33):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (51:33):
I thought, I actually think it's going to be one
or two games, And I was, Okay, we're going with
Skyler Thompson for the for the one or two games.
If it's going to be six, eight, ten, fifteen or whatever,
then we got to look at a different direction and
get somebody that's good.
Speaker 2 (51:47):
Where did you see one or two games at Has
that been reported anywhere? Or is that just aren'ty the
Dolphins fan?
Speaker 1 (51:52):
Though it hasn't been reported, but it was. I did
read it somewhere. It was like going to be like
one game that he wanted to come back after one game.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
WHOA, Okay, that would be that would be fascinating.
Speaker 1 (52:06):
Yeah. I wasn't even one of the two games I
threw in the second game. It was after he wanted
to come back after one game.
Speaker 2 (52:12):
Well, then there's no way you should even have this.
This is a wasted Roman numeral. Then if you tortually believe.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
That, it's not that I believe it. Maybe he believes it.
Maybe you know, if the doctors clear him, maybe it's
completely bogus report. I don't know, but you do have
to look at getting a quarterback. You just can't go
in there with what you got. Would you know, no
backup to Thompson. I'm guessing, well Tom Brady on your list? Yeah,
I had Tom. I love Tom. I wish I can
(52:38):
get Tom right now. I'd make him the starter.
Speaker 2 (52:41):
It's so funny if you've listened to this show with
any regularity. Ernie Spaniards spent the better part of seven
years destroying Tom Brady, telling him.
Speaker 3 (52:48):
Should he should retire, he's a fraud.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Then all of a sudden he leaves the Patriots and
he starts winning in Tampa's like, that's.
Speaker 1 (52:54):
My boy, that's my boy.
Speaker 10 (52:56):
I love me.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
Hey, I watched that whole Saints Cow game today because
we got it. I didn't think Tom Brady was bad
at all. I mean, I don't know if I don't
know what you people want. Because you get Tony Romo,
who's a crazy person in Scream, does all this goofy
stuff and is in love with Mahomes. I thought Brady
was pretty good. So I don't know if he's going anywhere.
(53:18):
Arnie's the unfortunate reality of it, Fox paying him a
lot of money. Like I said, what do you want
him to do? Tell jokes or get all crazy or
you know, get all nutty. That's not his job, that's
not what.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
He's there to do. So I'm not sure what people
expect from him to be honest? All right?
Speaker 2 (53:36):
So with that in mind, good luck to your dolphins.
You think maybe a couple of weeks. I don't think
he's gonna play again this year, but I think part
of the not I mean, did you not feel this?
I mean you're saying season over. I mean, my gosh,
do I need to reread your your roman numeral rundown
to you?
Speaker 1 (53:54):
He doesn't play the rest of the year, and I
and that list you just read, I really forget about
Kapernick or you know, Jimmy G's, like you said, as
a four game suspension, So maybe there's a possibility after
four games if it's a if he's gonna miss the
rest of the year, I actually think they could talk
Tom Brady into uh into coming out of retirement and
(54:16):
taking over.
Speaker 5 (54:16):
There.
Speaker 3 (54:17):
You very much confuse me. I'm gonna read everything from
Roman numeral four.
Speaker 1 (54:21):
Okay, this is a lot of Roman numerals today.
Speaker 2 (54:24):
Yeah, right, Well, eleven through seventeen is all college and
I'm steering clear of it because I don't want to
hear you talk about Arizona. But I was gonna hold on,
hold on, hold, let me get there, let me get
through the Dolphins stuff. Here, one Roman numeral at a time. Here,
here's all the bullet points Roman numeral four Dolphins season
over future over one and eleven in their last twelve
(54:45):
versus teams with winning records. Chemistry tutor needs to go.
I can't even read what the final fifth one says,
saw and dad an ex players saying that I'm not I.
Speaker 1 (54:55):
Told you that. Sorry, I saw an ex player that
was saying he shouldn't even be the coach said he's
more of a numbers guy.
Speaker 2 (55:02):
So all of that, and then you're like, oh, you know,
he might be back in two games, Like, you can't
feel that if you're starting quarterback is going to be
back in two games and you had Super Bowl aspiration,
it's gonna be.
Speaker 1 (55:14):
Let me explain something to you. Even if he comes
back in two games, this season's over. He's not looking
very good at all. I don't know if you'd noticed
that he's going too much east and west, not enough north.
Speaker 6 (55:26):
Right.
Speaker 2 (55:27):
I think the gods said enough Dolphins, I just enough, man. Yeah,
we were so close. The gods are saying enough Offhins talk.
Speaker 1 (55:36):
All right, I need to get myself another coach too.
Speaker 2 (55:40):
We got the chemistry professor, right, it's already in playing
on a Fox Football Sunday. When we come back. Let's
dive into the numbers with our man Todd Furman from
Vegas right here on Fox Sports Radio. All right, it's
already in playing on a Fox Football Sunday, coming to
you live from the Tirack dot com studios. This is
(56:03):
a man who knows how to pick up Todd Berham
Bet the Board podcast.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
Follow him on Twitter at Todd Ferm.
Speaker 2 (56:09):
It's all a wild note about how great this start
to the season has been for underdogs of six or
more points. They're now eight to zero against the spread
through two weeks, covering the spread by almost double digits,
according to a couple of people on Twitter, which means
it's official the best start for big dogs in the
history of the NFL. Toddy any reason, anything you can
(56:30):
kind of.
Speaker 11 (56:30):
Finger for that parody always becomes something that is of
the utmost importance when you're looking at bet the NFL
and odds maker scrambling to try and properly assess some
of these teams. Always a good thing for the house
when you get underdogs of six, seven, eight, nine points
or more that can win games outright and early on
in the day, you had the Raiders with the improval
come back against the Ravens. You had the Saints, looking
(56:51):
like the far superior team to the Dallas Cowboys campus
somehow evaded seven red zone trips in the Detroit Lions,
was able to get out of there with the twenty
sixteen win. And then in the nightcap, you don't get
the outright win, but you do get the Bears without
lake field goal to cover as a six and a
half point underdog.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
Todd Washington over the Giants, and then I lost my
last eleven picks. I went one and eleven. Todd, tell me,
you've never done that bad.
Speaker 5 (57:17):
That's crazy, It's pretty impressive.
Speaker 11 (57:19):
I wish you actually went zero to twelve because I
was on the other side in that Giants game and losing.
Speaker 5 (57:24):
A kicker to a straight losing a kicker to.
Speaker 11 (57:26):
A straight hamstring early on in the game, watching the
Giants go zero for three on two point attempts and
Malik Nighbors dropping a ball that he catches ninety nine
out of one hundred times. The perfect sequence of events,
the Giants becoming the first team in NFL history to
score three touchdowns in a game where our opponent did
not score a single touchdown, and find.
Speaker 5 (57:43):
A way to lose in regulation. So kudos to you,
Arnie forget the commanders across the finish line.
Speaker 2 (57:48):
Yeah, it's been pretty epic Arnie sticks so far this year.
But Todd, in all seriousness, is there any tips you
can give Arnie?
Speaker 10 (57:54):
Like?
Speaker 2 (57:55):
I mean, it would it would help if maybe he
dug into a little research instead of just going with
his gut.
Speaker 3 (58:00):
That's where I'm concerned.
Speaker 1 (58:01):
For I can't eleven with your gut even you can't
even do that.
Speaker 2 (58:05):
I don't know about that, but you have So with
that in mind, what tips would you give him to
get out of his slump? Do you have any routine
whenever things aren't going well to try to get on
the right track.
Speaker 11 (58:15):
I actually have a process though, so there is a
method to my madness that I trust my numbers and
everything I'm doing. I'm not going to sit here and
defend anything that Arnie's done, not since he started working
with you Plank, or when we did shows on Sunday
mornings north of the Border, and Arnie had minimal clue
in terms of what was going on.
Speaker 5 (58:30):
And ironically, back then it was actually his job.
Speaker 11 (58:33):
To disseminate gambling advice. Now, thankfully his listeners figured out
pretty early on that going against Arne was going to
be much more profitable than tailing his picks.
Speaker 1 (58:41):
Good point, Todd, how long is two are going to
be out? And what the line of six and a
half on Seattle? What would have been if it was
two was in the game.
Speaker 11 (58:49):
You'd be looking at that game right around Seattle minus one.
I know the look ahead numbers had the Seahawks actually
a short home underdog, but them starting off two and
o Miami looking pretty pedestrian on the offensive side, you
would have seen.
Speaker 5 (59:01):
That number cross zero.
Speaker 11 (59:02):
But the downgrade for me from two to Skylar Thompson
about five five and a half points. The problem for
the Dolphins right now is that offensive line remains a concern,
and honestly, Arnie, I'm not even sure I feel comfortable
speculating in terms of when two it comes back. You
have to imagine he's going to miss a couple of
weeks at minimum, and you hope that when he does
get back under center, he's been cleared by the right
doctors and he no longer poses a risk from his
(59:23):
long term post playing career.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
Ramifications a couple of zero and two teams that I
think I still believe in and the Bengals and the Ravens. Listen,
I watched that whole game today between the Raiders and
the Ravens, and I'm thankful that the Ravens decided absolutely
with the bad and start committing penal these NonStop but
any kind of erosion in your opinion with what you
think those two teams could be based on their zero
and two start, Well, you.
Speaker 11 (59:46):
Look at the Bengals, and they have a much more
favorable matchup coming up, with an extra day to prepare,
playing at home against the Commanders, will They'll be more.
Speaker 5 (59:53):
Than a touchdown favored.
Speaker 11 (59:54):
So that is significantly better get right spot than the
Baltimore Ravens, who are going to head down to Dallas
for a afternoon kickoff against the Cowboys team that no
doubt will be itching to get back out there given
how embarrassing their performance was today in the home opener.
So if you look at just those two things, I
think the Bengals will be fine. I liked what I
saw from them offensively today, although I do have major
(01:00:15):
reservations about their ability to stop the run. BJ Hill
was lost in that game as well, and we knew
without DJ Reader coming into the year that was going
to be a concern for the Ravens to be successful,
that offensive line is going to have to jail sooner
rather than later. What did surprise me the most though,
was Gardner Minshew completing six balls of twenty yards or
more in that second half. But again the Ravens playing
(01:00:35):
without you know, a highly drafted rookie defensive back in
Nate Wiggins. But credit the Raiders for the comeback there,
and the Ravens, unfortunately, for as good as coach as
John Harbaugh is, they have a pension for blowing late
leads in the fourth quarter, something that's plagued them over
the last couple of seasons.
Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
Say Todd college football, take the dogs, my friend. They're
barking pretty loud. I mean, somebody you don't even want
the points. They're winning in an upset fashion.
Speaker 11 (01:00:58):
Well, yeah, that always happened this time of year, and
if you pick the right dogs, you can find some
pretty healthy paydays that are out there. I think the
one thing that stood out to me, and we know
with additional bye weeks, how underwhelming these schedules have been
each of the last two weeks from a viewing standpoint,
But a couple of marquee matchups this week that we'll
get a good litmus test for Chris's beloved Oklahoma Sooners
(01:01:19):
and their former Bedlam rival in Oklahoma State playing host
to Utah.
Speaker 5 (01:01:22):
So I'm very curious to see what those two teams
bring the table.
Speaker 11 (01:01:26):
A sneaky good game flying under the radar a little
bit on Friday night between Illinois and Nebraska for an
a Lini team, they'll go into Lincoln, you know, as
a nine point underdog. So this is the time of year,
as we get closer to October, that we start to
figure out who these teams are. But there are a
number of teams, most notably side like Old miss that
won't get tested until the middle of October. So as
(01:01:46):
soon as we think we know who these teams are,
you have to look at the data points that you
have available and not make sure that you make blankets
sweeping generalizations before these teams actually play.
Speaker 5 (01:01:54):
Somebody with a bulf.
Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
Don't forget you USC, Michigan. I'm sorry to get into
the USC five point favorites over Michigan up at ann Arbor.
Speaker 11 (01:02:02):
Yeah, and this is a number that's swung substantially from
where it would have been a couple of weeks ago.
USC of course went out there, took care of business,
and their opener against LSU showed command both offensively and
defensively with that forty eight nothing win against Utah State,
which looks even better when you see that Utah State
was able to move the ball this past weekend against
an in state rival in Utah and a Michigan team
unfortunately that doesn't know what the forward pass is and
(01:02:25):
doesn't show much other than their ability to run the ball.
So let's see what USD can bring on the road
off of by a little bit of unfamiliar travel and
something that all of US college football fans will get
more and more comfortable with these teams from the West
Coast traveling east for Marque Conference matchups.
Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
I've lived in this state from my entire adult life, Todd,
so when I say this, there might be a little
hyperbole in it, but I think it's the biggest home
game in the history of Oklahoma Sooner football.
Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
You got game day.
Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
Coming, you have Josh Hipel bringing in a Tennessee team that, Hey,
don't get me wrong, they've looked good, but I mean
they've they've played some schleps so far as Oklahoma and
hasn't looked so good.
Speaker 3 (01:03:02):
I think Saturday night's going to be fascinating here in Norman,
I really do.
Speaker 5 (01:03:06):
It's for a true road game as well.
Speaker 11 (01:03:08):
Fernice during his time at Tennessee, he's put up gaudy numbers,
and credit to Tennessee. They took care of inferior opponents
against UT Chattanooga and their opener dominated ken State as
we saw over the weekend, and then of course the
fifty one to ten performance against ANC State, which loses
a little bit of luster for me when I watch
NC State struggle to find separation against Louisiana Tech, who
(01:03:28):
I have peg to finish fifth or six in Conference USA.
But the big question, to your point, Chris, for Oklahoma,
what will we see from this team offensively? Can Jackson
Arnold get command of this group? Can they protect him
in a defense that's going to be put on skates
early and off and so very fascinating matchup. And I
can tell you from an odds making standpoint, there isn't
a team in the country getting more respect right now
(01:03:48):
than Tennessee, with them more than a seven and a
half eight point favorite, a far cry from where Oklahoma
would have been right around at field goal favorite before
the season started.
Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
By the way, Todd, you can get by Arizona Wildcats
in five to win the whole thing right now?
Speaker 5 (01:04:02):
Well, look, I mean your Arizona wildcast credit. Ardy.
Speaker 11 (01:04:05):
The loss on Friday against Kansas State doesn't change anything
at the non conference game, so they still have a
pass to winning the Big twelve and.
Speaker 5 (01:04:12):
Getting the automatic bit. And all you need is a
seat at the table.
Speaker 11 (01:04:15):
Even what I saw from that team defensively for the
first three weeks, I'm not that optimistic that we're going.
Speaker 5 (01:04:21):
To have a chance to get a seat at the table.
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
Oh sorry, all right, Todd, have a great week, but
it's going to be a fun one.
Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
Oh real quick.
Speaker 2 (01:04:30):
The Jets any juice or is this just a bad
types team that they want today? Anything?
Speaker 11 (01:04:36):
Look, hey, anytime you win a game on the road
in the NFL, you deserve credit. I mean, Aaron Rodgers
looked a little bit more comfortable leading in the offense.
We'll see about the injury to DJ Reid, who was
surprised inactive this morning. And you know, the Jets on
a short week and nearly a touchdown favorite against the
New England team that really lacks offensive punch. So you'd
hope that the Jets defense is the difference maker in
(01:04:56):
that game. They're able to clamp down and Aaron Rodgers
continues to get this team head in the right direction.
But three games in ten days never easy for a
young for an aging quarterback returning from an achilles injury.
So should be a fun one Thursday night with division rival.
Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
Remember bet a gazillion dollars on Seattle over the Dolphins
this week, A.
Speaker 11 (01:05:14):
Gazillion a gazillion dollars for Arnie laying the six and
a half. That must mean that I should probably wait
till his number gets to seven and maybe make a
case about the Dolphins.
Speaker 5 (01:05:23):
Thompson on the road.
Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
Great, so great stuff, Todd, we'll talk.
Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
To you no.
Speaker 11 (01:05:26):
Thanks to always a pleasure boys of a great week.
Speaker 2 (01:05:28):
Hey, the best thing you can do to thank Todd
for being a part of this program is to go
subscribe to his podcast to Bet the Board podcast, and
if you're not yet, go follow him on Twitter at
Todd Furman.
Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
Steve Seger comes.
Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
Rolling into the tyrack dot com studios where everything is
a final what's going on Steve?
Speaker 8 (01:05:43):
And he was talking college football? Who's going to make
the expanded playoffs. Vegas is going to be hosting Boise
State late October. That could go a long way toward
who decides who gets perhaps out of the Mountain West.
But Memphis three and zero after winning at Florida State
over the weekend. Who's going to beat Memphis in that conference?
Because SMU's not there anymore. I know their final game
(01:06:07):
is at Tulane this season, So does that keep the
Memphis Tigers out of it?
Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
That'll be curious. And you talked to Raiders.
Speaker 8 (01:06:14):
The Raiders rushing as a team still under one hundred
yards for the season for the two games. Could bine
how did they win last year? Yeah, they had almost
no offense first half today. Last year they were just
over one hundred yards rushing in the first two games,
and yet they did come back and win thirty eight
yard field goal with about thirty seconds left. Raiders were
down at Baltimore by ten with ten minutes left.
Speaker 1 (01:06:36):
Are you sure they won?
Speaker 8 (01:06:37):
I am pretty sure that they won. Yes, there's the
video and everything. Twenty got fact check please twenty six
twenty three DeVante Adams nine receptions, one hundred ten yards
and a late TD Derreck Henry of the Ravens eighteen
carries eighty four yards and a short touchdown. As for
the Sunday night game, it was Houston now two and
zero beating Chicago nineteen to thirteen Nico Collins eight one
(01:07:00):
hundred and thirty five yards in a score only one
touchdown for each team, whole lot of field goals, including
from distance. Kayimi Fairbairn of the Texans tonight made three
field goals of at least fifty yards, and he did
that last week as well. Statsink says no other kicker
at NFL history has had two games like that in
(01:07:21):
a career, and he's done that the first two games
of this season. Tonight's game was a rarity at NFL history.
We had five combined field goals from fifty yards or more.
The only other time that had happened was one year ago.
So as we mentioned a lot these days, a lot
of long field goals being made, let's not imply that
(01:07:42):
it's not somehow still impressive. It is, it's just more common.
DeAndre Swift of the Bears fourteen carries eighteen yards rushing
in the loss.
Speaker 1 (01:07:52):
I have him in my fantasy league, of course.
Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
Ohps and no touchdowns.
Speaker 8 (01:07:55):
Of course, Joe Mixon nine carries twenty five yards rushing
for the Texans. He left for a little while with
an ankle injury on a hip drop tackle which was
not called. Bears rookie Caleb Williams, through two interceptions, was
sack seven times constantly pressured will Anderson with officially nine
pressures in this game. But Demiko Ryans on the sidelines
(01:08:17):
sent the blitz at Williams on over forty percent of
his dropbacks tonight, and he wound up completing exactly three
passes against the blitz all night three of twelve.
Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
Was this that that Chase Daniel tweet tweeted out right,
thirty six pressures on forty two pass attempts.
Speaker 8 (01:08:34):
I did see that total, because just daneil Hunter and
will Anderson alone is seventeen pressures tonight against Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
That's rediculous.
Speaker 1 (01:08:43):
Throw a screen pass, my goodness.
Speaker 8 (01:08:45):
Kansas City's two to zero after edging Cincinnati twenty six
to twenty five on a fifty one yard field goal
on the final play by Harrison, butker Patrick Mahomes just
keeps adding to the already great resume. Do you know
the record for most wins by a quarterback in your
first hundred starts in the league seventy six wins. Mahomes
(01:09:07):
now has seventy six. Tom Brady had seventy six. Rogers
Staubach had seventy six wins in his first hundred starts.
This was only start ninety eight for Mahomes, so I
assume he's going to break that record.
Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
Who had that big play at the end of the game.
I forget his name. He was number one ninety eight
that called the that called the passive appearance.
Speaker 8 (01:09:27):
Yeah, it was a fourth and sixteen PI about forty
seconds left, but please you alleve he did hit the
receiver from behind.
Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
Early. Guy's the FVP of the Chiefs.
Speaker 8 (01:09:38):
You could hear Mahomes yelling on the field mic. By
the way, Mahomes also for most touchdown passes in your
first hundred starts, He's tied Aaron Rodgers for that mark,
and again two more starts till he even gets to
one hundred starts in his career. Pittsburgh thirteen six winners
at Denver, Arizona all over the Rams forty one to ten.
Kyler Murray three early touchdown passes. The New AP College
(01:10:01):
Football poll has Texas number one. Longhorns quarterback Quinn Yours
is called week to week with last night's abdominal injury,
Georgia down to number two, finishing up the top five,
Ohio State, Bama, and Old Miss Tennessee moved up to
number six.
Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
Back to you, I'm watching this video. We were talking
about the sideline injuries today. You had the uh, you
had the guy go down the Texans, Gage and Baltimore,
And well that's what I'm watching. Steve at the Baltimore
because I collapsed. They were doing CPR on him.
Speaker 1 (01:10:32):
Yeah, I didn't see that.
Speaker 8 (01:10:33):
Yeah did condition at the hospital was their report tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
Thank wow.
Speaker 2 (01:10:38):
He was immediately attended to by medical personnel upon leaving
the field. He was alert and responsive. He's being taken
to a local hospital. Like there is videos they find
us from I'm Kyle Mangham on Twitter through Larry brownsports
dot com, and you can see they put up the
X which means gets the ambulance, get the ambulance out
there immediately, and they're doing chest compressions on them. I mean,
(01:10:58):
holy smoke. So glad to see everyone was okay on
that front. All right, I hit a couple of tweets here,
and then we'll go inside the numbers of week two
in the NFL. Nature Boy writes to it back in
a couple of weeks. Are he only if you mean
in dog dog years?
Speaker 1 (01:11:13):
I was gonna say, am I Am I in the
minority of that because I think so. Really, I think
a few people actually agree with me, but I could
be wrong on that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
We're I'm just asking where you saw it. I had
not seen a timeline at all. I saw it on Twitter,
so it must be true. H Cameron writes, I'm convinced
I'll never live to see another cult super Bowl win.
Anthony Richardson isn't the answer. We need to fire everyone.
(01:11:42):
I know that you can't fire Chris Ballard. Everyone loves
Chris Ballard.
Speaker 5 (01:11:46):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
Oh, he gives all the media access, so he's the man.
Chris Ballard.
Speaker 1 (01:11:50):
He's funny. You see, the guy called him to make
the trade on draft day. He hung up on him.
A funny dude, he stinks. You know what. You know
what's good They got rid of Chris Ballard.
Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
I mean, get out of here with this guy. And
what's funny is they're gonna be just good enough to
probably keep him around. I though Fitt's like eight, nine,
seven and ten be just good enough to keep him around.
Anthony Richardson. Uh, there's moments where he looks like the
most unbelievable player in the NW. I know he does,
doesn't he or what? And then there's moments where he
just looks like he's lost. So it's tough to go
(01:12:23):
into Green Bay and win. But when Malik Willis is
the starting quarterback and you're a pretty healthy team, that's
gotta be a gut punch man. If I'm if I'm
a Colts fan, I feel for you. Cameron Jason B. Diamond. Right,
you could argue the Raiders save their season today, and
I mean next week we play the Panthers at home,
then the Browns at the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (01:12:45):
Could we see a four and one football teach?
Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
I can't believe you're we started the season where you're
already giving up on the year. Now all of a sudden,
not necessarily all in, but you could go four in one.
And if you go four and one, you're gonna you're
gonna make the playoffs. Dolphins are gonna start one and four.
It's gonna be disgusting. Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
And then Josh writes me, trying to figure out the
NFL more than life itself. The Cowboys, the Ravens, the Rams,
the Lions, the forty nine ers. Are they not who
we thought they were?
Speaker 12 (01:13:16):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Well, I mean you're you're there's only one zero and
two team there. I mean we had the Cowboys as
the best team in the NFL when they beat the
Browns last week.
Speaker 1 (01:13:25):
Ms.
Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
Rambl I'm sorry. The Rams are oh and two two
right because they lost to the Uh uh, they lost
in lines to the opener. So you got a couple
of oh and two teams in there. But I don't know, dude,
I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm bailing on any of
those teams right now.
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
No I'm not. But you would have to say warning
flags for San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
And I know that Christop McCaffrey's out, but I still
think they did a pretty good job of making up
for that.
Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
Uh they had over one hundred yards rushing. I think
it was what Jordan Mason had exactly one hundred, So
it wasn't like they're really losed out on a on
a lot of production at that point. You know, my bad.
Speaker 2 (01:13:59):
When we've talked about oh and two teams tonight. I've
only brought up the Bengals and the Ravens. I guess
because the Rams got so thoroughly thumped today. Forty one
to ten was the final and you see the injuries
poking a coup out. Cooper Cup gets hurt today. They're
trying to rebuild their defense without Aaron Donald here in
the first year post his retirement. I think it's panic
(01:14:20):
time with the Rams right now. This is it's over.
Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
Yeah, there's season's over next week. Yeah, it's o v
R for them. You might as well start thinking about
next year. They're they're not gonna do it. You remember
that you talked about all those teams that don't make
the playoffs. That's what we don't have to worry about.
The season's over. Somebody actually picked the Rams to win
the Super Bowl this year, so good pick that one there,
Thank goodness.
Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
I mean again again, the Texans were zero and two
last year and their everybody's darling right now. So you
called down a little bit. No, no, there's no coming down.
It's over for them. Stop it, it's over. You're never
getting over. Ohv stand right now, that's the best thing
that just happened. No, trust me, I will Ardie, my Josh,
(01:15:05):
trust me, and your go ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
And I'll strip myself naked and run myself over broken
glass and then I'll parr assaulted, honey over the wounds.
It's not gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
They're done. They're done.
Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
If what happens, if are into the playoffs, if the
Rams make the playoffs, oh my gosh, they play the
Niners this week, then they go to the Bears, and
they have the Packers with Malik Willis, they could easily
be a foreign two football team.
Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
What do you even now? What have you been doing?
Speaker 2 (01:15:33):
Right? By the way, it doesn't matter because you don't
follow through on any of your bets, So it just
doesn't matter. All right, When we come back to the
tirack dot com studios, let's go inside the numbers of
week two here on Fox Sports Radio. All right, here
we go. Third member of the crew, Steve de Seger,
is in the house. We go through all the numbers
and notes from the day that was in the NFL.
(01:15:55):
What's up, Steve?
Speaker 8 (01:15:56):
For those who say all that team's not making the playoffs,
let's just call I mean, yes, you're probably right, but
don't be dot don't be so dogmatic, because let's recall
Washington of twenty twenty. They started the season two and
seven and still made the playoffs with a losing record.
Speaker 3 (01:16:15):
Just say a bad year for the NFCS.
Speaker 8 (01:16:18):
Yeah, I think they might have been the deck injury year. Also,
tonight we had the Bears losing nineteen thirteen at Houston.
So the first two weeks the Bears offense, let's just say,
it really hasn't been there. In week number one, they
averaged under three yards per play. Tonight it was it
was just over three yards per play. Wow, There's only
been two teams in the last forty plus years who've
(01:16:40):
been this bad on offense in each of the first
two games, the Raiders of two thousand and six, of course,
and the Saint Louis Rams of nineteen ninety six. To
average this these few yards each of your first two
games to start a season, and of course, the Bears
are one of those offenses that only has one touchdown
total so far on the young season. Panthers are on
(01:17:02):
the list as well. Of course, Steelers and Broncos too,
and they faced each other today. Thing is Pittsburgh's two
to zero. They were up thirteen to nothing early fourth
quarter and won thirteen to six.
Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
At Denver.
Speaker 8 (01:17:12):
Justin Field started again Russell Wilson not active due to
the calf injury. Fields with a short touchdown pass first quarter,
A combined nineteen penalties in this game, Rookie bow knicks
through two interceptions. The Broncos offense in the first quarter
had one first down and they were up to three
first downs by halftime. In the first half, Denver had
sixty two total yards. That's it. And as far as
(01:17:35):
the Panthers, my goodness, oh and two and when is
this going to end? They lost at home to the
Chargers twenty six to three. The Panthers offense had eleven
drives and only seven first downs.
Speaker 1 (01:17:46):
They're miserable, Bright Shong, he's got to go. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:17:50):
How about this comparison with the quarterback. The Panthers had
nine penalties in the game for ninety yards. The quarterback
didn't even pass for ninety yards in this one. In fact,
he was eighteen of twenty six passing and only eighty
four yards. Apparently that's a new NFL record most completions
without even throwing for one hundred yards.
Speaker 1 (01:18:11):
It again, unbelievable.
Speaker 8 (01:18:12):
And this against a Chargers franchise that, let's be honest,
is known for slow starts. This is the first time
they've even started two to zero since twenty twelve, over
a decade. So you've got a Panther's team that lost
their opener down thirty to nothing late in the first half,
and they got crushed at home here. That thirty to
I think was against the Saints, by the way, last weekend,
(01:18:33):
who piled on the points at Dallas.
Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
Here.
Speaker 8 (01:18:36):
In fact, the forty seven they scored in week one
add to the forty four they got today ninety one
points already most by a team in fifteen years for
its first two games of a season. New Orleans forty
four to nineteen at Dallas was the final. Alvin Kamara
four total touchdowns. He had twenty carries one hundred and
fifteen yards. Minnesota was hosting and beating San Francisco again. Amazingly,
(01:19:01):
the Vikings have won eight in a row against the
Niners when it's in Minnesota, and that goes back about
thirty years, including beating him last year and today. Justin
Jefferson four receptions one hundred and thirty three yards in
a touchdown, he did leave with a bruise quad. He says,
it's not serious the numbers this guy is putting up already.
(01:19:21):
It's sixty two career games, about sixty one hundred yards.
He has tied Hall of Famer Lance Alworth, fastest player
up to six thousand receiving yards in NFL history. Again,
just over sixty games for six thousand yards in justin
Jefferson's career. In the Arizona home win beating up the
Rams forty one to ten, Kyler Murray had a perfect
(01:19:44):
passer rating. Passer rating was developed in the early nineteen seventies.
You essentially to get to this point for one game,
you have to have a really high completion percentage, really
high in yards per attempt, no interceptions, you can miss pass,
but the effectiveness of going down the field and scoring
in all of that, which they did plenty early is why.
(01:20:07):
Apparently it's been about eighty quarterbacks over the years that
have had a perfect passer rating in a game. Tom
Brady had his third just a few years ago. Apparently
Lamar Jackson had a third end of last season, but
it was Kyler Murray added to the list today. So
three early TD passes for him two to Marvin Harrison
Junior on the cards first two drives.
Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
It was awesome.
Speaker 8 (01:20:27):
Yeah, And James Connor had one hundred and twenty two
yards rushing in a score and Arizona's d had five
secks and Cleveland won at Jacksonville eighteen thirteen. Jacksonville tighten
Evan Ingram did not play after a hamstring injury in
warm ups. As for the quarterback at Trevor Banks Stadium,
Trevor Lawrence has lost now seven straight starts, longest active
(01:20:48):
streak in the league.
Speaker 1 (01:20:50):
Thanks sheet.
Speaker 2 (01:20:50):

You've got two a back next week, so you're seeing
stop it.
Speaker 1 (01:21:42):
We don't have to a back, so stop it. We're
we're We're not gonna win next week against Seattle. We
do have an easy schedule after that, a couple I
think two or three's of games, but it's not going
to happen.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
I see what you're doing. I see what you're doing. Yeah,
you're trying to use your reverse psychology here. No, no, no,
it's done. It's over. I think you think you're such
a jinx that maybe if you go opposite you can
kind of mush them back into relevance.
Speaker 1 (01:22:09):
No, I'm picking Seattle minus the six and a half
against Miami again.
Speaker 3 (01:22:14):
You know how your picks have been. I think you're
using reverse psychology.
Speaker 1 (01:22:17):
That would be the one I get right.
Speaker 6 (01:22:19):
I probably swear if if they lose, I'm coming, I'm
gonna go find you in Vermont.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
Arnie.
Speaker 2 (01:22:25):
A couple of good tweets to get this hour started
before we talk about what we learned.
Speaker 1 (01:22:30):
We have a Recorday do you think so? Is that
acial it is? We've gotten a lot today. The worse
I do with my picks, the more tweets we get.
Speaker 2 (01:22:39):
Well, I've tried to steer clear if when we read
them in the first segment kind of moved on from
it because everyone just it's not new, it's not anything new.
Speaker 3 (01:22:46):
I mean, what's your overall record this year.
Speaker 1 (01:22:51):
In the NFL? I am eight and nineteen.
Speaker 2 (01:22:53):
And how were you in the preseason?
Speaker 1 (01:22:56):
I don't remember.
Speaker 3 (01:22:57):
In the Yeah, it was bad, it was bad.
Speaker 1 (01:22:58):
Go ahead, and the college In college I am fourteen
and twenty six.
Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
If you were a coach, you'd be fired mid season.
They'd have part of regents meeting to get checked out.
Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
I feel like I'm the coach of Florida, right, Napier?
Speaker 4 (01:23:17):
Is that what it is?
Speaker 1 (01:23:17):
I feel like I'm gonna get fired any suck.
Speaker 2 (01:23:21):
By the way, I just quick side note here on
that college football Twitter is one of the weirdest places
on the planet because it's like we don't really fact
check anything.
Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
We just go with it.
Speaker 2 (01:23:33):
That I think my personal favorite was this week that
Dion made the Colorado band stop playing the fight song, right,
I saw that.
Speaker 3 (01:23:40):
I think that was my favorite.
Speaker 2 (01:23:42):
But then the close second was that after the fire,
after the game yesterday that the Florida Gators were having
the University of Florida, We're having an emergency Board of
Regents meeting, Arnie, an emergency board of regents meeting to
address the future of the Florida football program.
Speaker 3 (01:23:58):
And literally it was all just fake and made up,
and no one, no one took a moment to.
Speaker 1 (01:24:03):
Check on it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:03):
She's like, hey, so and so said, there's an emergency meeting,
Billy Napier's being fired.
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
It's gotta be true, gotta be true.
Speaker 1 (01:24:12):
But are there are stories that are true?
Speaker 2 (01:24:15):
Mike?
Speaker 1 (01:24:15):
The University of tendency up thirty to nothing in the
first quarter and then they go ahead and do an
on side kick. Whether are they crazy or what?
Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
I do?
Speaker 6 (01:24:24):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:24:24):
What's funny? Is kent State so bad? I wasn't even
paying attention to that game. Georgia and Kentucky had my attention.
Speaker 1 (01:24:32):
Right, I was watching that too. I just why do
you what makes you think you have to do something
like that when it's thirty to nothing in the first quarter.
Now that it's that big of a deal, and I
don't like the way Colorado was after they beat Colorado State,
trying to run up Shakour Sanders statistics at the end
of the game, and then he wouldn't shake the hand
of the Colorado State quarterback. So just too much drama there.
Speaker 2 (01:24:54):
To be honest, I thought that it was absolutely hilarious
how Colorado acted. But then Colorado State did talk a
lot of gas for being a terrible football team, So
I guess there's a certain sense of reput you sow.
But even in those moments, aren't he once the game
is over, you've won, what you gonna go? Let him
(01:25:15):
know about a post game you end up looking ridiculous
more so than the guy that you're talking trash to
in that moment you won the game. What are you
doing going out there and talking trash?
Speaker 1 (01:25:27):
Be a step better and shake his hand and and
you know, give him that smirk like we just kicked
your ass and you were talking all that smack.
Speaker 2 (01:25:34):
You talked all that guys, I think I saw smirks
like that on Kansas State's faces on Friday night.
Speaker 3 (01:25:39):
After the way you tah, that's not called for, that's
uncalled for.
Speaker 2 (01:25:42):
Your Arizona Wildcats might be in a little bit of
trouble in this minuscule, mediocre conference that you're in.
Speaker 1 (01:25:48):
Right now, we have the week off, Thank goodness for that.
Speaker 2 (01:25:50):
We need to regroup.
Speaker 3 (01:25:52):
You already have a week off this season.
Speaker 1 (01:25:54):
Yeah, before we play Utah next week.
Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
That's good football. He's got Oklahoma State coming out.
Speaker 1 (01:25:58):
I will kick the crap out of that.
Speaker 2 (01:26:00):
Well, have you not ever learned your lesson? Is there
a moment where just like you were gonna get Kansas State,
just you know, maybe learn that you're gonna lose some games.
Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
We have the week off, We're gonna get them. Trust me,
So you're.
Speaker 3 (01:26:16):
Let's move on.
Speaker 2 (01:26:17):
If your only thought is trust me with every single
one of these picks, what in the evidence presented to
myself married?
Speaker 1 (01:26:25):
Why don't you drink?
Speaker 3 (01:26:26):
And Steve Desaker?
Speaker 1 (01:26:28):
What part of what one and eleven they struggled against?
Speaker 3 (01:26:32):
Trust you?
Speaker 1 (01:26:33):
They struggled against Utah? Stay in. Utah State got shut
out the week before Utah. Also, what they had to
go with their backup quarterback? Now, right, is that what's happening?
Speaker 3 (01:26:43):
Well, we'll see.
Speaker 2 (01:26:44):
Cam Rising is about forty six years old, so yeah, yeah,
he might be meaning a little bit of extra time
to get loose and stretched out with any injury that
he has.
Speaker 1 (01:26:53):
So it was a kicker that was thirty two years
old in college. Yeah, you know this is we got
to stop this in college football. I get it, I
understand it.
Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
I didn't want to leave college either, but it's time
to Hey, if you can rent a car, I think
if you've reached that point, I think it's time to
move on in life, buddy. A couple of notes, bye,
thank you, Mary, A couple of notes from college football
here real quick, since we're on at Ohio.
Speaker 1 (01:27:15):
Right by the way, if Florida State OH three just
had to throw that in there, come on, now we're
gonna bring that up. That's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:27:21):
It literally is a note that I was getting to.
Speaker 1 (01:27:23):
Oh good, good good.
Speaker 6 (01:27:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:27:27):
Ohio State is the new favorite, slightly ahead of Georgia.
Speaker 2 (01:27:30):
Florida State, and twelve other teams are now off the board,
according to bet online dot Ag. Speaking of Florida State,
they've already gone under their win total. Now I would
say this, and this might Florida State is technically not
out of the playoff picture, but that would involve someone.
Speaker 3 (01:27:49):
In the ACC losing two games.
Speaker 2 (01:27:51):
Oh, which is they already don't have a tiebreaker on
them teams whose odds have shortened. Tennessee went from twenty
to one to twelve to one. So I guess going
out and beating the snot out of a lot of
good like bad football teams and makes everyone go crazy
about you. Notre Dame. Notre Dame, even though they lost.
(01:28:12):
With what they did against Purdue, they went from one
hundred and one to win the title to forty to one.
Kansas State went from one hundred to one to sixty
to one victory against Arizona. Well, Arizona went from two
fifty to one to five hundred to one, and Arkansas
on Florida went from five hundred to one to one thousand.
Speaker 3 (01:28:33):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:28:34):
Cam Ward is the favorite in the Heisman Trophy conversation,
with quinn Ewers off the board due to an injury,
but with those whole three quarters that he's played so
far this year, arch Manning is on the board at
fourteen to one right now to win the Heisman.
Speaker 3 (01:28:50):
Show.
Speaker 1 (01:28:51):
He was at one hundred to one before the game started.
And when Youwers got hurt. I heard there was a
mad pushit in Vegas for far trebanding to win the Heisman.
Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
I mean, if you watch the game, there's there's some
flash plays. Oh yeah, yeah again, if you watch the
games there it's a freshman trying to play quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (01:29:10):
Well, nobody knew how long he the way yours was
going out and putting his head in his jersey, people
immediately thought it was going to be for a long
period of time.
Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
Well he's going to miss two weeks. Yeah, I mean
he's not going to play against ULM. And I think
it's Mississippi State that they have who's been terrible before
the OU game. So it'll be interesting to see what
happens over the next few weeks whenever it comes to
the injury involving one quinn Ewers. In the meantime, NFL
Week two, anything else you want to add to college,
(01:29:39):
but yeah, I was gonna add it's ironic yours gets hurt.
Speaker 1 (01:29:46):
Do you your Are you a person that pays attention
to the doctor Pepper commercials?
Speaker 3 (01:29:51):
Yes, I mean the bas is in him, of course.
Speaker 1 (01:29:54):
Right, But yours says we don't need any backup, even
if he has good hair and a family name and
all that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:00):
Oh, i'd see, you know. I don't think I've ever
heard them to be honest with your.
Speaker 1 (01:30:03):
Old Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, he said that talking about
arch Manning. So it's ironic that, of course he went
down and they needed the backup in Arch Maranning.
Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
To come on in conference seasons get rolling, you know,
in full swing this week. And one interesting thing in
the SEC that I'm excited about. We get injury reports
in college football. I've not never had an injury report
in college football, and the SEC has three of them.
They have an early week to have a midweek and
then have a game day. Big ten only has one
(01:30:33):
during the week. It's the little things in college football, Arnie,
that give me excited. The little things, all right, Week
two just about of the books. We get money net
football tomorrow night, the Falcons.
Speaker 3 (01:30:42):
And the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (01:30:43):
But let's hit some of these tweets before we dive
into what we learned after Week two in the National
Football League. And I tend to agree with Calvert here
he writes, here we go again with the cowboy Cowboys.
We don't even know what kind of team will show
up each week. They're hard to figure out, man. That
is that's a typical cowboy team. Great one week, awful
(01:31:03):
the next week. That total typical cowboys what they show today,
and it's it's wild because they could not have looked
more efficient and effective both offensively and defensively.
Speaker 3 (01:31:15):
Last week.
Speaker 2 (01:31:16):
I mean, they had they had people questioning if Deshaun
Watson should quit football. They had people wondering if Miles
Garrett was was washed. And then they go out and
they do that today. Finally, I really liked the way
that the Saints looked. I really did out.
Speaker 1 (01:31:30):
Sure, yeah, yeah, at least I think I have a little.
Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
Alvin Kamara for you here afterwards. You know, it's kind
of interesting because we use the term washed a lot
to talk about running backs and whether or not they
have anything left.
Speaker 3 (01:31:42):
First, here is the head coach for the New Orleans Saints.
Speaker 2 (01:31:45):
That would be Dennis Allen talking about Alvin Kamara's role
in their offense.
Speaker 10 (01:31:49):
I never felt like he was an aging running back.
I felt like he was still, you know, an explosive player,
and I think we're utilizing him in a way that
allows him to, you know, be effective. He's still one
of those guys that if you create some space and
he's able to operate in space, I think he's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (01:32:06):
And here's what Alvin Kamara said about the new Kurt
Kubiak let offense, the.
Speaker 12 (01:32:11):
Way that they install it. I think that, you know,
everybody's kind of like all aboard. I mean, Tyren said something,
you know, Captain's mean and our captain's dinner. He said,
like just jump off the plane. So I think we're
just jumping off the plane. Would believe that, you know,
when they call something, when Clint calls something, that you know,
if we do our jobs, we do what they tell
us to do, that it's gonna it's gonna work out.
Speaker 3 (01:32:32):
I think it, said Kurt.
Speaker 2 (01:32:33):
Clint Kubiak four point nine yards per carry for the
Saints today, Kamara over one hundred yards, three touchdowns, rushing
one receiving forty four to nineteen.
Speaker 1 (01:32:42):
So two guys that were up for dead, Chris and
In him and Derek Carr, their careers were pretty much
over right. People are saying about them.
Speaker 2 (01:32:49):
Oh, I mean, listen, kamaras still got contract issues to
talk about. But Derek Carr, if you give him time,
if you get him in an offense, whill you give
him time, he can pick you apart. The problem in
New Orleans and in Vegas is they just they never
seemed like they were able to get a consistent offensive
line in year one for the Saints. I don't know
if that line's better. I don't know if we got
(01:33:11):
hyped on the Cowboys beating a bad Browns team. And
let's face it, the other win for the Saints was
against Carolina, So I think we'll learn something. But that
other side of it's the bigger question, right, Arnie. I
can play all these cuts on Kamara and Carr and
Dennis Allen, but the big question here is, Okay, what's
the real Dallas Cowboys?
Speaker 1 (01:33:27):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:33:28):
Who are they? Who are they?
Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
Yeah? Who are they?
Speaker 6 (01:33:31):
They?
Speaker 1 (01:33:31):
Defensively, they're not gonna win anything. They're just gonna go
ahead and make the playoffs, lose in the first round.
If they have a defensive effort like that, they were
just putrid. I mean, to go ahead and stink up
the place like that was embarrassing.
Speaker 3 (01:33:43):
I mean, it got so bad.
Speaker 2 (01:33:44):
They brought in their backup quarterback, and bless Brady's heart,
they kept they kept trying to make it sound like
that there was a chance the Cowboys could get in
and He's like, well, you score here, and you get
it back to a two possession game. You're like, Nah,
that's just that's not happening here. All right, this is
nature Boy with a double shot, he writes at Nature Boy,
(01:34:05):
I missed this one earlier, writes Even the Raiders season
looks brighter than the Dolphins.
Speaker 1 (01:34:09):
Yeah, that's that's embarrassing. Who would have thought that just
one week ago that would be like that.
Speaker 2 (01:34:14):
Here's the double shot, Paul writes, Today, I learned the
Jets are awful, but their schedule is super soft, so
I give them the edge and the AFC East ahead
of the Bills in Dolphins. And the annoying thing about
the Tua situation is all these self appointed neurologists without
medical degrees, like Daz Brian saying he has to retire
two As a grown man, he can make the decision
(01:34:36):
without people like Daz Brian getting involved.
Speaker 1 (01:34:38):
He's not gonna retire because there's too much money at stake.
If the money wasn't there, that's a whole different story.
But when you have a quarter of a billion dollars
or actually two hundred and thirty one million of it
was guaranteed, Yeah, you're not walking away from that. Let's
let's be honest. Let's use a little common sense on
that one.
Speaker 3 (01:34:54):
Well, but if the money's guaranteed, you get.
Speaker 1 (01:34:58):
It only if you're found deemed to not be able
to continue. If they say he's cleared and he wants
to walk away and then he doesn't get the money.
Speaker 2 (01:35:07):
So then it's not guaranteed. Guaranteed wouldn't mean that you
get it. I mean, if you get That's that's why
NFL owners never want to give guaranteed money.
Speaker 1 (01:35:17):
Not if you're retire, you're not guaranteed to have the money.
Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
Okay, I mean, I'm just saying, if you want to
get into a contractual battle with this, I don't think
anyone wants to do that. Whenever it comes Oh no,
that's for sure, right if if if he I mean, look,
even Andrew Luck retired early, but it wasn't guaranteed money
that was talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:35:36):
It was just finishing up his contract.
Speaker 1 (01:35:37):
You know, when I thought, I saw an article where
it says out of his contract, the Dolphins only have
like a seventy five million or on a hundred million
of it guaranteed insured and sure.
Speaker 2 (01:35:49):
So you're already happy about the possibility to go out
and give a new get a new quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:35:55):
Might have a quarterback might have to go.
Speaker 2 (01:35:59):
You don't know. Reported guarantee often represents a total amount
of money that could potentially be guaranteed, while fully guaranteed
money presents the money that is truly guaranteed in the
traditional sense of the word. All right, So I guess
there's a couple of outs. There could be salary cap ramifications,
because they already paid forty three million in twenty twenty four,
(01:36:21):
and he has one hundred and sixty seven million guaranteed
for injury. So I think he's okay money wise, Arnie.
One more Here Paul writes which delivery service will will
Levice be working for by twenty twenty six and door
to ash our instacart. I got admit a ths on
Twitter rights. The Lions beat themselves today.
Speaker 3 (01:36:42):
I didn't get a.
Speaker 2 (01:36:43):
Lot of that game. I had the Cowboys Browns Gayard,
the Cowboys Saints came on. I had the Raiders game on,
and I didn't feel like Red Zone gave me a
lot of that either today. So I didn't get a
chance to watch a lot of the Lions game today
against the Buccaneers, and we usually get Tampa here. I
don't know, maybe they didn't have a lot of exciting moments.
I felt like red zone was infatuated with the Vikings
(01:37:04):
forty nine ers right along today.
Speaker 3 (01:37:06):
But I guess it makes sense that you would be there.
That was an upset win, right.
Speaker 1 (01:37:11):
We talk about the Lions in Tampa. Is that's the
one you're bringing up.
Speaker 2 (01:37:14):
I'd moved on to the Vikings in the Niners game
because that's where the red zone seemed to live.
Speaker 3 (01:37:18):
I mean, that was that was a pretty big ups
and I understand why you had a lot of eyes
on I did.
Speaker 1 (01:37:22):
I thought they were gonna fall apart once that Jefferson
was going off the field, but they were able to
keep it together. Sam Darnold's like rejuvenated his career with
the way things are going to Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (01:37:33):
And two other quick ones here.
Speaker 2 (01:37:34):
Speaking of Minnesota, Blue Forever Rights Vikings two and zero,
how about Fox Sports personalities give them some respect. Heard
a couple of them talk about the NFC North and
they mentioned Green Bay, Detroit and Chicago and never mentioned
the Viking.
Speaker 3 (01:37:49):
Who's on top of the North.
Speaker 1 (01:37:51):
Now, yeah, I think that's your fault. Yeah yeah, I
fight myself for that. By the way, how long is
it going to take before people start saying I knew
broud Purdy was average. If I knew it was happening
through the forty nine ers, what is that going to
start the well?
Speaker 3 (01:38:05):
If you do it every single time he has a
bad game.
Speaker 1 (01:38:07):
So okay, if anybody else was going to join me, though.
Speaker 2 (01:38:12):
I probably not. I mean, he did throw for three
hundred and nineteen yards, and you love your stats, but
these sack numbers are crazy. I mean he got sacks
six times today, six times, and I think, looking back
on it, I don't know how many of them were
his fault. But gotta protect your quarterback better than that
six freaking sacks. One other tweet here, then we'll get
(01:38:33):
caught up on a break, Joel writes, who will the
Dolphins seek a trade with to get a quarterback?
Speaker 1 (01:38:38):
Arnie?
Speaker 2 (01:38:38):
Did I see they contacted the Steelers about Russell Wilson?
Oh no, please, no, stop. I would stop being a
Dolphins fan of that.
Speaker 1 (01:38:46):
Oh you wouldn't, yes, I would.
Speaker 3 (01:38:48):
You would come in here telling us said Russell Wilson
and won a Super Bowl and all he needs is
a chance, and how good he looked in the preseason.
Speaker 1 (01:38:54):
No, I would get sick. I would get so sick
I wouldn't be able to work.
Speaker 3 (01:38:57):
Wouldn't matter.
Speaker 2 (01:38:58):
You would bet something on it and then not pay
off your bet soul, What would even really happen? All right,
tweets are good. In fact, they were so good they
got us behind. So when we come back after week two,
we know this right here on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
it's Tarny and playing I Love I Love Twitter back
and forth here Caleb Bright t if a player chooses
(01:39:19):
to walk away without a medical forcing him out, there's
no way any player could just retire and all the
guaranteed money is paid out. Otherwise tons of players would
just retire after signing a contract. I mean, that's what
happened in the NBA. They're fully guaranteed contracts. You can
go after him to try to recoup that money.
Speaker 1 (01:39:38):
Well they did, didn't didn't like Calvin Johnson.
Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
In the NBA. I just mentioned in the NBA. In
the NFL, there's not fully guaranteed contracts. In the NBA,
there is, and and I was reading up on the NFL,
and yeah, they can go after guys because fully guaranteed
in the NFL is different than the NBA and Major
League Baseball.
Speaker 3 (01:39:59):
Those are guaranteed. Guaranteed, I get walking him round and
be like, I'm out see you later.
Speaker 2 (01:40:04):
We would end up in court fighting over now Tua
could end up having an injury settlement. But listen, I
don't I don't think we need to go down that
road right now. We got a long way to go
before we get to fighting over money. Whenever it comes
to the future of two in the NFL, long way
to go. All right, Arnie, after week two in the NFL,
we know this, Where do you want to start?
Speaker 1 (01:40:22):
All right? After week two of the NFL, I know this.
I tried to tell you that the team is a
fraud and their quarterback is not as great as you
thought he was going to be. You know, it's like
a girl I fix you up on a date, Chris,
and I go, oh, she won a beauty contest and
you say, what Miss America. No, she wantn't miss Appalachia
(01:40:42):
where there's like six girls in down And I'm talking
about Baltimore and Lamar Jackson. Yeah, he's won of his MVP's.
But now they're sitting going to the offense just looks
stagnant out there. They look far from a Super Bowl contender.
They're an embarrassment right now. Who knows if they they
make the playoffs, But I don't like the way they look.
(01:41:03):
They are what they thought we are. We thought they
were in a below average team there, Chris, what league did.
Speaker 2 (01:41:10):
Lamar Jackson win his mvpn's that Malaysia?
Speaker 1 (01:41:14):
Is that what? DRASKI?
Speaker 5 (01:41:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:41:15):
No, yeah? What league? Does he play in? NFL?
Speaker 2 (01:41:18):
I think he's in the How is the NFL anyway
comparable to the Miss Appalachia Beauty contest? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:41:25):
I had to give some analogy work with me on
that would Chris work with me?
Speaker 2 (01:41:30):
I know after two weeks the Dallas Cowboys are going
to be a fun roller coaster. I don't think I
want to get off because and I don't listen. I
don't understand this. I really don't because I watch I
do a daily talk show, Arnie, I do on a
Fox Sports affiliate here in Norman and and through Oklahoma
City and up through Tulsa. And the funny thing is
(01:41:53):
every morning I have the debate shows on right, and
it doesn't matter what time of year, they all always
find a way to talk.
Speaker 3 (01:42:03):
Dak Prescott, right.
Speaker 2 (01:42:04):
I don't know why, and so I don't know what
the research is where you people out there are either
checking a box or doing something that says, ooh, I
need more Dak Prescott, I need more Cowboys talk because
I think there's so many other great stories in this
league right now, but maybe for one season is gonna
(01:42:25):
be worthy.
Speaker 1 (01:42:26):
You just paid him.
Speaker 2 (01:42:27):
You're invested in the core of that team outside of
what Mike parsons so far. And I think the NFC
East Sands the Giants, I think it might be pretty good.
I think I don't think the Commanders are gonnna be
a as you like to say, already give me when
they play. I think it's gonna be fun to watch.
Jane Daniels developed this year. So oh yeah, I'm a
I'm in on the roller coaster ride. I thought last week, Hey,
(01:42:49):
look out, they're gonna be for real. But we get
to need jerk here on Fox Sports Radio in our
time slot. So give me being on board for the
Cowboys ride in twenty five.
Speaker 1 (01:43:00):
All right, what I've learned after two weeks, and this
is more about the player, but a little bit of
the team. Also, Aaron Rodgers has no mobility whatsoever. Bad
He just it's it's horrible. I think I've got more
mobility in the pocket than that guy has. I don't
care if they beat a bad Titans team. This team
(01:43:20):
is not very good. The Emperor has no clothes on.
The Emperor has no clothes on. Trust me, this is
still a six to win New York Jets team. So
don't don't get anything get to get crazy. They'll beat
Denver in two weeks, but other than that, they'll lose
to the Patriots, the Vikings, the Bills, the Steelers, the Texans,
(01:43:40):
the Cardinals. Oh, they got a bunch of l's coming up.
Not gonna be pretty for Rogers and the New York Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:43:47):
Well, I got three more for you. Yeah, we got
to find a way to fit him in. But I
want to make sure we give to Seger his time first.
Speaker 3 (01:43:54):
So I've got it. I've got to make a trip
here to a couple two and zero teams.
Speaker 2 (01:43:58):
I've got a praise some quarterbacks that are taking advantages
of maybe their last opportunities. And I've got to question
some coaches who might need to go. But first, Steve
Seger is in the house with what's trendy?
Speaker 3 (01:44:11):
What's going on? Steve?
Speaker 8 (01:44:12):
Hello, guys, we had the Sunday night game in Houston,
Texans two and oh after they beat Chicago nineteen thirteen.
Nicocollins eight receptions, one hundred and thirty five yards and
a score. Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams through two interceptions
and was sacked seven times a combined twenty one penalties.
In this game, Kansas City running back Isaiah Pacheco suffered
(01:44:32):
what's called an ankle injury. He's in a walking boot,
He's on crutches. Casey is two and oh after beating
Cincinnati twenty six twenty five with a fifty one yard
field goal on the final play by Harrison Butker, set
up by a fourth and sixteen pass interference on Cincinnati
with about forty seconds left. By the way, all five
matchups career between Joe Burrow and Patrick Mahomes have been
(01:44:53):
decided by three points or fewer.
Speaker 1 (01:44:55):
It had never never.
Speaker 8 (01:44:56):
Occurred in five straight contests between the same start quarterbacks.
Keep in mind Borrow did not play in Cincinnati's game
at Kansas City late last year. The Broncos only had
three first downs in the first half, fell behind thirteen
nothing by early fourth quarter. Pittsburgh wins at Denver thirteen
to six, Justin Fields with an early short touchdown pass
(01:45:17):
bo Nicks in the loss through two interceptions, Arizona forty
one to ten over the Rams, who are oh and two.
Rams were down twenty one to nothing early second quarter
Kyler Murray with three early touchdown passes. Cooper cup Rams
wide receiver left with an ankle injury.
Speaker 1 (01:45:32):
He is in a walking boot.
Speaker 8 (01:45:33):
Las Vegas trailed by ten with ten minutes left and
still won at Baltimore twenty six twenty three.
Speaker 1 (01:45:39):
What was win probability at that point?
Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
Playing cares about win probability?
Speaker 8 (01:45:45):
His favorite stat exactly Yeah, Baltimore oh and two. Jacksonville
tight and Evan Ingram did not play after hamstring injury
and warm ups. Jacksonville's oh to two After losing it
home eighteen thirteen to Cleveland, which led sixteen to three
late in the third quarter, Chargers are two to zero
for the first time in over a decade. They won
at Carolina twenty six to three.
Speaker 2 (01:46:07):
JK.
Speaker 8 (01:46:08):
Dobbins seventeen carries, one hundred and thirty one yards and
a score. All time against Carolina, the Chargers had been
one in six, and that one win was twenty years ago,
Washington beat the Giants twenty one eighteen. The Giants missed
all three extra points, one kick, two passes, and they
lost by three. Graham Gano was injured at the start
with a bad hamstring. Washington had a seven game home
(01:46:32):
losing streak. It was the longest such active streak in
the league. But here in this game they get a
w with only seven drives on offense, but Austin Cyber
went seven to seven.
Speaker 1 (01:46:43):
On Sooner Legend h Sooner Legend Austin Cyber.
Speaker 8 (01:46:46):
Game winning thirty yarder on the final play. Seattle won
in overtime at New England twenty three to twenty. Jason
Myers three for three on field goals. Kenneth Walker, Seahawks
running back, was out today with an oblique injury. Minnesota
beat San Francisco twenty three to seventeen. Justin Jefferson said
the Bruce quad is no big deal. He had four catches,
one hundred and thirty three yards and a score. Running
(01:47:07):
Back Christian McCaffrey was not only out again for San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (01:47:11):
He's on IR.
Speaker 8 (01:47:12):
He's out at least four weeks. Jordan Mason in the
lost twenty carries one hundred yards and a touchdown. The

Texas is number one in the new AP College Football Poll.
Longhorns quarterback Quinn Yours week to week with an abdominal injury.
NASCAR victory for Chris Busher Atkins Watkins Glen the Road Course.
This is the Cup Series second playoff race of the season,
Wild Finish Saturday night at Bristol, the long lapse of
(01:48:16):
course on the road course, but yeah, he did come
back in that one. John Rahm won the Live Golf
season title in Chicago and the eighteen million dollar bonus. Today,
the US women golfers won the Solheim Cup, beating Europe
in Virginia, and baseball has two weeks left in the
regular season. The Yankees are now leading the Orioles by
three games. In the AL East. Baltimore lost, Yankees won
(01:48:39):
Aaron Judge with home run number fifty three. Braves and
Mets still tied for the final NL wild Card. Mets
lost two to one at Philadelphia and short stuff Francisco
Lindor left with the bad back. The Dodgers woned Atlanta tonight.
It was two two and the ninth nine too the

in a season. Gets two weeks back to you.
Speaker 3 (01:49:28):
Are you promising you promised they're going to get it?
Speaker 8 (01:49:30):
It's another prediction, guaranteed and guaranteed.
Speaker 1 (01:49:33):
Yeah, guaranteeing it.
Speaker 2 (01:49:34):
All right, We're coming to you live from the tire
rack dot Com studios, tire rack dot Com the way
tire buying should be. That's the stinking genius Arnie Spaniard.
I'm Chris Plank. Great job tonight by Steve de Segar
on updates. Remember check out the podcast. It'll be posted
as soon as our show wraps up. However you consume
podcast search Fox Sports Radio weekends.
Speaker 6 (01:49:53):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:49:54):
I got three quick ones here and then you can
wrap howevery miny you have after week two. I know
this in passed with what quarterbacks that seem to be
on their last legs are doing this. I don't think
Derek Carr's career would be over if he had a
bad year in New Orleans, but off to a great start,
much better start than he had personally. Last year, the
Saints were two and Oh, I know it's not big numbers,
(01:50:17):
but I'm kind of liking the vibes with Justin Fields
in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 1 (01:50:22):
How could you that he was the backup Baker.
Speaker 2 (01:50:25):
Mayfield is looking good in his second year in Tampa,
and Sam Darnold has the Vikings at two and oh,
we kind of left the Vikings as an afterthought whenever
McCarthy got heard, because what Darnald was just a placeholder
until McCarthy got healthy and then he was gonna be
the guy. But let's also remember, too, we had Joshua
Dobbs in the Hall of Fame after a couple of
(01:50:46):
weeks in Minnesota last year. So I'm happy for the
Vikings and that they're doing well. But Arnie, we do
this a lot, and we're very guilty of the show
being tonight and being in the moment for tonight. But
let's remember we've gone gaga over quarterbacks after having a
couple of good weeks. We need to see a little
bit more body of work here from Darnold, Carr, Fields,
(01:51:09):
maybe even Mayfield to a certain extent, but so far
licking what I'm seeing for.
Speaker 1 (01:51:14):
I was just about to say Geno Smith Seahawks off
to a two and oh start in Geno do for
over three hundred yards. You wrote him a letter, he
just didn't read it, my friend. So remember when he
said that over a couple of years ago. Yeah, he goes,
you wrote me letters, you wrote me off, but I
didn't read them, which made no sense. But that's beside
the point. Uh, he's off to a good start. I
(01:51:35):
wouldn't have said it right back, right back. Yeah, yeah,
he was supposed to be. I didn't right back, but
he said something like, I didn't read it, but it
was it's good to see him off to a good
and start.
Speaker 3 (01:51:45):
I think he actually said it, right. I think I
think you're crushy.
Speaker 6 (01:51:48):
I think I say, you know, Gino did say something
in the liner was I didn't write back.
Speaker 3 (01:51:54):
Okay, Okay. With that in mind, he's in that group, right,
that's performing well?
Speaker 2 (01:51:59):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:51:59):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:51:59):
Absolutely yeah, and maybe even has been okay tonight whenever
the quote unquote little person took his team behind the woodshed?
Speaker 3 (01:52:06):
Is he going to be okay for the show tonight?
Is he in after Kyler Murray into the rams? All right?
That's awesome? All right?
Speaker 2 (01:52:13):
Number two, the chiefs are getting a whistle. I mean
let's just call it like it is. That was past
interference at the end of the game. That was a
good call, right, You've got to make that call in
that moment, do you?
Speaker 1 (01:52:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:52:24):
You do?
Speaker 2 (01:52:25):
I mean, would you would you expect that to be
called if your team was trying to pick up a
fourth down whenever a guy got mulled early?
Speaker 1 (01:52:31):
No, I would hope maybe it would be called that.
I wouldn't expect it.
Speaker 3 (01:52:37):
I was reading Who's.
Speaker 1 (01:52:39):
Especially But it's a heil Mary at the end of
the game. It's a different set of rules for past
interference when that happens.
Speaker 2 (01:52:45):
You know, well, apparently Arnie Matt verderam our buddy here
on the Arnie and Playing Show. He says, you don't
know ball. If you think that was a foul, not
you personally, just royal you. If you didn't think that
was a foul, you don't know ball.
Speaker 1 (01:53:01):
It's nothing. They don't think it was a foul. I
just I could have been accepted, like if he didn't
call it, if they didn't call a flag, I don't
think we'd be saying what an injustice it was for.
Speaker 2 (01:53:10):
Three hours, how terrible and they missed the call or something.
But don't you get the sense that the NFL wants
them to still be good. I mean, I'm not trying
to accuse them of anything here. They're a really good
team and they've won on their own mayors by every
possible conceivable way. But if I'm Roger Goodell and I've
got to go Darth Mally and be like, yes, man,
(01:53:31):
I don't know what.
Speaker 1 (01:53:32):
What's my favorite meme to one of the official kissing
mahomes before a game? Remember when that happened?
Speaker 2 (01:53:38):
One?
Speaker 6 (01:53:38):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:53:38):
Yeah, And I like that one.
Speaker 4 (01:53:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:53:40):
They got the official in the Kansas City colors, So
I think that's kind of funny out there, So it
certainly makes a lot of people want to say, what's
going on? They get the call once again, all over again?
Speaker 2 (01:53:52):
All right, and then the third one. I don't I'm
not in the business of calling for guys jobs, but aren'tie.
I don't think Brian Dable is that dude? And that's
one of your teams now that you claim if they're
good the Giants.
Speaker 3 (01:54:08):
So I like him. I think he's cool. I like
his vibes. But I just I don't know if this
is gonna work.
Speaker 1 (01:54:15):
Hi might be jo coach should take the quarterback that
they both should leave.
Speaker 2 (01:54:18):
To be honest, Oh you think so? Him and Daniel Well,
Daniel Jones are gonna go anywhere if the Giants can't begin.
I mean they've made it very clear this is make
or break for Daniel Jones this year. I mean they
said in a stupid show like ten times, right, So there'll.
Speaker 1 (01:54:32):
Be a backup after this. He won't be a starter anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:54:34):
Anything you want to add to our list of things
that you've learned now that I've been very greedy and
selfish after.
Speaker 1 (01:54:39):
Well, you kind of brushed over it. Are the Cardinals
for real? And Murray is for real? I mean, yes,
I know they just played the Rams and you know,
maybe that's not that big of a deal. What and
they played Buffalo tough in that first game and probably
should have won.
Speaker 2 (01:54:55):
I got to keep my eye on them. Maybe they're
a lot better than I thought they were gonna be
this year. Yeah, you know, I really liked the way
that Kyler Murray is is playing this right now. By that,
I mean everyone kind of lost their minds because he
tweeted out the meme of like the yawning emoji and
how kind of making fun of the fact that it
was too easy today. My favorite Kyler Murray story outside
(01:55:17):
of the time whenever you're throwing footballs at me on
the sidelines, I went. I went to do a postgame
interview with him. I waited, Arnie, there's a late game.
We're playing Kansas. It was it was a cold night,
freezing cold, and Kyler Murray had a Kyler Murray kind
of a night. And I waited and waited, and when
he got done with this press conference, I'm like, dude,
you got time for like two minutes please. He's like,
I don't know, man, my back's hurt and I've been
(01:55:38):
carrying everyone all that long. I guess it's like, I'll
let you go, dude. So he's just a different character.
You look cocky, got a little leedged to him. But
that's fun. Man.
Speaker 3 (01:55:48):
That was fun to watch Arizona do that. Unless you're
a Rams fan, sorry, but I mean to.
Speaker 2 (01:55:52):
See that offense click like that and Mark, Yeah, maybe
Buffalo is a little better than we're giving him for.
Speaker 3 (01:56:00):
Maybe your dolphin would be all right when we come back.
It's still here.
Speaker 2 (01:56:04):
It's Arnie's picks and they're terrible, but they're next on
Fox Sports Radio. All Right, we're about to get out
of here, make way for big Ben Maller and his
Kyler Murray tribute show. Great job, Mary Mack running the
show tonight. Patrick Awesome is allways, Steve de Seger on updates,
and the millions and millions of editors behind the scenes
(01:56:26):
with tons of great audio and content you'll hear throughout
the night and day right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:56:32):
All right. Even though he lost it in his bet,
he doesn't pay off any of his bets.
Speaker 1 (01:56:36):
Cardinals won. What are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (01:56:39):
Time for Arnie's pick, So take it away, he's thinking, genius.
Speaker 1 (01:56:42):
Oh, I'm so rattled. I am so rattled. My picks
have been just miserable in college.
Speaker 3 (01:56:50):
Went picks segment last week and you're not giving it up,
But go ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:56:53):
I went four and seven four. I was gonna try
to lie and say what five and six, But I
was afraid somebody woul gonna catch me four and seven.
I'm now fourteen and twenty six, which is thirty five percent.
You're afraid to have integrity.
Speaker 3 (01:57:08):
Wow, that's the thing. I just don't get it. Not
a lot of great get it.
Speaker 1 (01:57:13):
Not a lot of great games on the schedule, but
I like three of them. I'm gonna take Nebraska minus
eight and a half against Illinois. Very impressed with Nebraska.
I'm gonna jump out in usc minus five on the
road against Michigan. And I'm all over Oklahoma State minus
three against Utah. Now over to the NFL. We got
a game tomorrow. Give me Philadelphia minus five against Atlanta.
(01:57:36):
Remember now, that's part of the same prediction I made
when I went one and eleven. So you may say
I'm due and I'll go two and eleven, or I
may continue my failing ways and go one and twelve.
I'm gonna take Seattle for a gazillion dollars, laying six
and a half against Miami. They're gonna win by like
(01:57:59):
five million in touchdowns. And I like the Patriots plus
six and half against the Jets. So there you have
my pick. Stew with them, Adge, you please no longer
strictly Fred entertainment purposes only. I'll put all the rest
out on like Friday and Saturday, and I gotta do.
Speaker 2 (01:58:17):
You gotta do something home, like a word document or
you know, PDF. He's going to write them on a
yellow note packet. Yeah, take a screenshot of them. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:58:25):
Yeah, a lot of people started doing.
Speaker 2 (01:58:27):
That, by the way, using a yellow note pads right there.
Speaker 1 (01:58:31):
Yeah, they're writing their picks down and writing notes and
then sending them and putting them on Twitter.
Speaker 3 (01:58:35):
For me, you're you're a trendsetter.
Speaker 1 (01:58:37):
I am.
Speaker 2 (01:58:38):
A lot of people are having dessert at ten o'clock
at night for no reason.
Speaker 3 (01:58:42):
You're a trend setter. All right.
Speaker 2 (01:58:44):
Two coaches that are a little bit miffed by the
way things are going so far. We'll start with Sean McVeigh,
the Rams head coach, who was asked, where do you
go from here?
Speaker 1 (01:58:53):
Well, you know what I think, you go back to work.
Speaker 4 (01:58:55):
Gary.
Speaker 1 (01:58:56):
There's a there's a lot of football left.
Speaker 9 (01:58:57):
There's a lot of things that you experience for the
first time, you know, and so how you handle it
is what's the important thing.
Speaker 1 (01:59:04):
You guys have heard me talk.
Speaker 9 (01:59:05):
About that this is one of those days that you know,
that pit in your stomach is a tough pill to
be able to swallow. But this is what we signed
up for, you know. We didn't sign up for just
the positive moments, the teams staying healthy, you know, And
you know, all I know how to do is try
to go back to work, keep my head high, figure out.
Speaker 1 (01:59:23):
Some better solutions.
Speaker 9 (01:59:24):
There clearly wasn't enough answers for our players to go
have success today.
Speaker 1 (01:59:29):
How do we communicate with clarity? How do we put
guys in some better spots?
Speaker 9 (01:59:33):
And that's collectively, and it always starts with me, And
that's all I know how to do. I'm not even
worried about oh and two.
Speaker 1 (01:59:38):
I'm worried about how do.
Speaker 9 (01:59:39):
We play better football? That was not a good product today,
That was not something that we're okay with. And I
know I speak for our players and coaches when.
Speaker 1 (01:59:45):
I say that.
Speaker 2 (01:59:46):
Meanwhile, the team that they played in the Super Bowl,
the Cincinnati Bengals, are owing to as well.
Speaker 1 (01:59:52):
So we know what this feels like. We know it's
a long season.
Speaker 7 (01:59:55):
We know we can get ourselves out of there, stick together,
get our emotions in check.
Speaker 1 (01:59:59):
With an extra day this week. Come back, d you
play great game in front of our crowd. I expect
to be a great crowd.
Speaker 2 (02:00:05):
There you go, Bill, they came bigger surprise at oh
and two. Right now, the Rams, the Bengals, or the Ravens.
Speaker 1 (02:00:12):
Oh, definitely the Ravens. There's no doubt about that. I
thought they were gonna win their division and win it
pretty easily. The Rams are surprised that they're owing two.
I don't think they can turn it around. I think
it's o v er for them. So it's a dunzh
Who was the third team that was owing two also.
Speaker 3 (02:00:29):
The Rams, Rams, Ravens, Bengals.
Speaker 1 (02:00:32):
Bengalsmembright said, I didn't believe in Joe Burrow before the
beginning of the year. I wonder if I was happened
to be right on something there eventually. I don't think
Cincinnati turns it around either. I don't.
Speaker 2 (02:00:43):
I think at some point you haven't believed in every
single quarterback in the NFL on this show, All right, Arnie,
have a great week man. Next Sunday night, we got
a lot of fun games in the NFL that will
be recapping. Don't forget you got a Monday night game
coming up tomorrow night, the Falcons and the Eagles. And
even out that sneak peek ahead to next week our
Sunday night football.
Speaker 1 (02:01:03):
Game the Chiefs and the Falcons.
Speaker 2 (02:01:05):
Why did we put it land in all these idea
is doing? And a Monday night football doubleheader next week,
and so enjoy the week. Big Ben Maller is coming
up next. Arnie and I will be back next to
Sunday Night, enjoying right here on Fox Sports Radio
