Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. Oh let's go,
stinking genius, let's go. Let's go.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
It's the Areni and Plank Program, our first show of
twenty twenty five. Though we have worked together. On New
Year's Eve, we did the Adjacent and Mike Show that
rung in the New Year, and as always as we
did then, we do now come to you live from
the tire rack dot Com studios. Tire rack dot com
(00:30):
will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free roadhatchard protection and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire
rack dot com the way tire buying should be. You
need to apologize to the entire listening audience.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Why do I need to apologize? Because you're a weekend You.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Guaranteed that Miami was going to the playoffs. You didn't
guaranteed it, and a lot of people went out and
put money on your picks because you kind of got
hot in.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
The NFLA seven to say something, First of all, Kansas City,
you're such an embarrassment man. You make me sick. You
hurt the integrity of the NFL. Karmas that you know
what it's going to come back and bite you in
the ass. I'm going to be rooting against Kansas City
for the rest of my life. I'll never forget. I'll
never forget what they did today. It makes me sick.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Ye can point of information. Yeah, even if they won,
you still would have missed the playoffs. I know that.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Well, the our game would have turned out different. Tyreek
Hill wouldn't have tapped out of the game. I I
don't think it. Maybe Tua would have played. Who knows,
but Kansas City. You make me sick, man, I'm disgusted.
You just hurt the integrity of the NFL. But don't
get what's coming to them. They'll never I'm putting a
curse on them. They'll never win again another Super Bowl
as long as I'm alive.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
So let me let me get this right, just just
for clarity sake, because I want to make sure everyone
understands what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Arnie.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Yeah, yeah, you're saying a fifteen to two team that's
went back to back Super Bowls but rested their starters
in a completely meaningless game is a problem.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Is I didn't say it's a problem, just disgusting the
way you rolled over like that.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
The cards that you say.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Carson wentz to front of one hundred yards. Chris, I come.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
On, now, well, I mean, I mean, in fairness, the
Riley Leonard threw for under one hundred yards and Notre
Dame beat Georgia the other night.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
I mean, you know what's so funny?
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Before the game started, my wife's going, so, what's the
score of the Kansas City game? I go, I go,
it's twenty eight nothing in favor of Denver. What do
you think? She goes, Oh my god, I go, it
doesn't started yet. I'll dare you try to try to
Jake Speat And then as soon as the game starts,
it was like twenty four to nothing. I I'm like,
oh Jesus, for once in my life, I have to
open up my big fat mouth. It was just just painful, painful?
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Can we can we pause the frustration over the Dolphins
to talk about the Sunday night game? Is there anything
else you just need to get out off the top
before we talk about this very important Sunday night football
game where the Lions are trying to hammer thing home.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Just basically finished the Vikings.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
We'll get into this later on, but I have a
four sale sign out in front of the microphone that says,
wide receiver for sale, very fast and speedy, Payton in
the backside, and we'll drop an occasional ball in his hands.
Please call to find out about him.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Wild that in listening to Tyreek Hill's post game that
we'll play a little bit later on. Not only does
it make it seem like he's done in Miami, but
I hadn't realized this. Tyreek Kill missed the playoffs this
year for the first time in his career.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
That's okay, good goodbye, good riddance to him. We'll save
some money. Well, we'll go out and get t Higgins
or Cooper cup or something like that. That's fine.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
I was.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
I was so excited with that. Alex Tyscher was in
tonight running the show that I did.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I wasn't Patrick either.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
That's right, Patrick Sweek, our producer, is in tonight.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Patrick, can we find all the old cuts of Arnie
sat Tyreek Hill's the greatest receiver in the NFL, and
he'd have him over in anyone else.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
He's declined so much, Chris, he's declined so much. It's
not hurt.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
He's hurt, right, I mean, he's heard too much left
wrist injury. No, you don't allow that left rist.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Could you imagine if I told our boss I can't
work today was my left wrist? I can't ConfL Please radio.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Please, We'll get to this all later.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
It is basically, as Arnie likes to say, ov Er
in Detroit. The Detroit Lions on a fourth down where
they're at there, let's se they were about their eight
yard line. They lined up to go for it, and
the stupid Vikings jumped off sides and not only gave
the lines the first out, but now touchdown Jamiir Gibbs again.
(04:45):
Holy smokes, what a night for Jamia.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
I have Jamier gibbson my fantasy but it ended last
week and I lost. So there you go.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
It is now thirty to nine Detroit with five fourteen
left in the football game that caps off a seventh
place seventy four yards right, I mean.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
Are you okay to talk about other games or do
I just know this?
Speaker 1 (05:04):
So matter of fact? This is a eumongnus game. This
is a I don't know who was a bigger game
for Minnesota or Detroit. You'll probably say, well, it's a
big game for both. They want to be the number
one seed. But I felt that was a bigger game
for Minnesota because if Minnesota was the number one seed,
I thought they'd have a better chance of going to
the super Bowl. To then if Detroit out the number
one seed was Detroit is just so beat up defensively,
(05:26):
but then again they look so great defensively today. Maybe
I'm wrong, Maybe it was a big game for Detroit.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
This is about that time whenever Minnesota Viking fans start
telling you, well, just wait till we get JJ McCarthy, right,
this is more Viking fans try to point out we're
not even supposed to be here this year, because basically
I told you, Minnesota fans, enjoy this, embrace it, because
if you don't get this one seed, you probably want
and done.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
And I think it was was Ephraim.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
That saidate someone said they felt like, whoever loses here
tonight is gonna lose next week. And I think a
lot of people expect did that the four seed to
be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But now it's like and
it's the Rams, which to me aren'tie makes it even
tougher for whoever loses tonight because the Rams basically said,
we don't even care about the.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Final week of the same. They didn't care who they played.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Come back that could come back and bte that Chris Well.
They could have had an easier opponent. I believe what
would have been Denver. I think Denver, you're on the
wrong common I mean, I'm not Denver.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
They could have had Washington.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Washington, and they're.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Gonna get either the Lions. Well, they're gonna get the Vikings.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
They're gonna get the Vikings. So maybe it would have
been a little bit easier.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Maybe it will, but I mean I would know. Again,
I understand they have a great season. I would much
rather see Sam Darnold coming to my place than Jane
Daniels with the way things are going for for Washington.
And even though I get do we worry about what's
his health status?
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Right now?
Speaker 2 (06:55):
You got Daniels and Jordan Love who both seem to
be a little dinged up for both of their teams
heading into the first round of the playoffs. We'll discuss
that coming up a little bit later on, but I'm
not gonna lie to you, Arnie. I was surprised by
how many teams just kind of tapped out here today,
absolutely blown away.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Oh it made for the worst final weekend I've ever
seen in my wife, and I know they tried to
play it up and all their seedings involved, and I mean,
my goodness, if I hear one more time that the
division was on the line for Tampa, I was, I
was gonna hit my head against the wall. But it
was really bad. That was They're gonna have to do
something about that. It got so bad this week or
(07:33):
so bad today Chris that that it really it took
away the enjoyment of the of the weekend, of the
final weekend of the game. Usually this is the best
weekend and this happened to be the worst weekend of
the of the football a year.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
So I'm with you, Arnie. I agree with you. Something
something needs to be done. Here's my question. I don't
know what I mean what.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
They kid with you? They they and I thought this
was smart at first, So i'm those smarter than everybody
else that makes the schedule. Remember they started putting the
divisional games at the end thinking that they would mean something.
Maybe we were wrong, Maybe it doesn't have to be
that way. We could spread it out and maybe you
just get lucky for you know, wild card and keep
(08:19):
it conference games instead of divisional games. Maybe that's the answer.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
There, good question. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
I'm sitting here trying to work this through my head
all day long. And I'm not even kidding, because you know,
I mean, I love football. I mean I'm gonna watch
you could put I was actually watching a Mount Union
game before this Lion's game came on. I mean, I
love football, so I'm gonna watch it regardless. But I
also I the sport. The numbers are still astronomic, right right,
(08:51):
but this was a year where, in fairness, the numbers
weren't as dominant as they once were. Now you could say, hey,
they had on pre competition with the Olympics, you had
a presidential debate.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
I'll have to look at the numbers.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
But there wasn't near the amount of NFL games that
were amongst the top rated games in TV ratings.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
So I always worry about that.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
You know, I don't want to see it dip in
popularity by any stretch of the imagination. But I feel
like something has to be done about this final week
of the season. And I'm sorry. I'm sitting here and
I'm my biggest pet Pee. I'm gonna complain about something, Arnie,
and I really don't have an answer for it, and
I wish I did. I don't know how because what
everyone did and what everyone decided to do, as frustrating
(09:37):
as it was for you, and I mean more so
now for fans of the Bengals, Arnie, it's just it's
the smart thing to do. You don't want to risk anything,
especially whenever the ultimate goal was supposed to be a
Super Bowl championship.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
Now my answer would have been, let's have eight teams.
Nobody gets a buy. But Kansas City still would have
arrested their players because they had the number one seed
wrapped up anyway, correct. I doubt they would have played
them for one week rest compared to twenty four days,
which is what the difference was going to be. But
I think that's going to be the answer. You have
eight teams that way, the Indianapolis, the Cincinnatis to Miami's
(10:13):
those three teams would have been in the playoff RaSE
and in the NFC you would have had what Seattle, Atlanta,
even Arizona in maybe Dallas up to the last couple
of weekends. So you have to go ahead and do
something like that expanded. If you want to go ahead
and have it a little bit more interesting.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Yeah, no, I think you might be right. So we'll
pose that question to you tonight. You can jump in
on the on the ex at Stinkingenius want them at
Plank Show. Everybody should be following us at Fox Sports Radio.
But is this a and by the way, I think
we both agree this isn't necessarily a link of the
season conversation. This isn't oh it's a seventeen game problem
(10:51):
because this was happening when we were sixteen game season.
Oh yeah, yeah, And you would get into what was
then Week seventeen, the final week of the season, Chris
hi car games being played with nothing on.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
It was the least interesting year in a long time
or ever. It just was not a very interesting year.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Play do you want to do?
Speaker 2 (11:08):
You want to go ahead and hit roman numeral number
six here in the Roman numeral rundown?
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Sure, go ahead. Overall this season was blank uninteresting c
plus I would give it overall and like I said, uninteresting,
and I don't remember too many game. Yeah, there was
exciting games. I'm sure you could name off a half
a dozen, but there's a lot of games in the NFL.
I don't remember too many games were you know, we
(11:36):
battled back and forth and had some really great, exciting games.
We had a few, but not a whole abundance like
we usually do. Chris, at least, I don't think we
did well.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
I'm afraid that the Sager has the one score game
in the.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
NFL there that I forgot. He's working well.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
I mean, how daris have someone the fact check?
Speaker 1 (11:56):
I don't like to be fact check.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
But I think leading in like week fourteen, we had
the most one score games that we'd had in NFL history,
So I know, as wild as that sounds, now, who knows,
maybe some of those were at fourteen fifteen point games
where someone scores late. Kind of like a backdoor cover
on that front. But don't don't allow this final week.
Aren't he and your Dolphins not making the playoffs to
(12:21):
absolutely just implode what was not a terrible I mean,
you're giving it a C plus. I'd probably be more
like B. I'd probably be more like maybe even a
be mi. So I think we're kind.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Of you're just a little bit ahead of me and
so interesting. Yeah, and see I took that from somebody
else that put it up on Twitter and I said,
this may be one of the most uninteresting years we've had.
And his reasoning was because halfway through we pretty much
won through seven and maybe Deadver snuck in because I
(12:53):
think they started two and six, we pretty much had
the teams that were going to be in the playoffs.
There wasn't a lot of shocking for positions.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Year, right, But don't you feel like there's always the favorites?
Speaker 2 (13:06):
And I mean the Bucks just won the South for
the fourth straight season, The Chiefs just won the West
for like the ninth straight year. I mean, the Patriots
were always a given in the East, and we knew
they were.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Right right, So I mean, it's just.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
You'll even surprised, I guess with San Francisco. But we
we saw the injuries there.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
In a bad way. So let let's go ahead and
get you throughout the night. We'll debate Roman numeral six. Overall,
this season was blank and get into it.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
I'd say, I bet you a lot of the listeners
agree with me. I think they found it kind of
like a little bit of a boring year this year.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I don't know if I would use the term boring.
I mean come on, dude, what are you gonna do
sit around and watch Law and Order instead of this?
It's the NFL. It's always got to be fun for us. Now,
how about this? Would you consider the college football Playoffs
through its first few rounds to be boring? Because we
haven't had the best games, right, but yet it seems
(14:00):
as if there's always some sort of drama. Was the
home crowd in the first round and the actually had
a couple closer games in the second round, But would
you consider those games to be uninteresting and boring?
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Just I'm trying to get a gauge here.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
I love the home crowd so much so that moves
it up like a half a grade for me. Okay,
I still would probably give it from a C plus
to a B minus. Right, we've had a lot of blowouts.
I wouldn't say boring. Maybe uninteresting, okay, you know, I mean, yeah,
we had one good game in the Texas ASU game
a little bit, but other than that, yeah, there's there's
(14:34):
been a bunch of blowouts and it's been on interesting,
but I wouldn't say boring.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Well, as we as we grab our first time out
here on a Sunday night with Arntine plankin Fox Sports Radio,
we say rip to the regular season.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Almost in the week, thank goodness.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
A few minutes left here in this Sunday night football game,
we've got a challenge on a potential pass that was
it looked like it was caught by the Vikings thirty
one to nine, though the Lions had complete control four
to twenty four to go in the game.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
Here's what we know.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Saturday schedule looks like this four thirty Eastern for the
Chargers at the Texans, then at eight o'clock Eastern the
Steelers at the Ravens. Next Sunday you get a triple
at her starting at one o'clock Eastern with the Broncos
of the Bills, for thirty Eastern with the Packers at
the Eagles, and then at eight o'clock it'll be Washington
at Tampa. So eight Eastern will be on the air
for that game.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
And ibigs A Rams Vikings game is at one o'clock on.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Saturday, Monday Night Football seven o'clock Central, eight Eastern for
the Vikings at the Rams. So far tonight fired drown
Mayo in New England won and done not fired. Shane
Steichen and Chris Ballard will be back for some unknown
reason in Indianapolis, and Mike McDaniel will be back in
my hend.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
So we're gonna learn a lot about chemistry next year,
that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
We're just getting started for the Track dot Com Studios
with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
We're live from the tire Rack dot com studios. The
Lions are dominating the Vikings. Thirty one to nine. Is
this how do you talk to an angel?
Speaker 4 (16:21):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (16:21):
My gosh, ty shirt? You talk about a sweet?
Speaker 5 (16:25):
What?
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Early nineties poll MI nineties Beverly Hills nine oh two
one oh? Come on, come on, Arnie, this is the
guy that uh oh, I don't remember any of the characters' names.
Tell me, tell me the words to describe, right, yeah,
look at me? Well, don define define. I'm sorry, Arnie
(16:47):
doesn't no good music? What are you asking? I was,
uh whenever we were in like grade school, whenever this
came out, I had a bunch of buddies that would
watch Beverly Hills nine.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
Oho, what was that? Was it? Thursday night?
Speaker 1 (17:03):
I think so?
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Think so?
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Look get you you're scaring me now, No, no, they
should bring you back.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
I'm trying to build.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
You up tonight, because see, I accepted my fate in
the middle of a ten game losing streak this year
for the Raiders. You never accepted your fate and whenever
two it did what two it does, which is not
being able to play after season.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
And now he's he came back and we went on
a little bit of a roll and then oh to
see us just fault into the Jets like that. Aaron
Rodgers disgusted me. I hope, hope he never comes back.
Say goodbye. You're never playing again in the NFL, big boy? Wait,
hold on what Aaron Rodgers? This was probably his last game?
Speaker 3 (17:39):
Oh? Jamie Walters, by the way, was the name of
the singer on that one.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
You don't think you think Aaron's walking away after hitting,
after getting his five hundredth touchdown passing it.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
May not have a choice. Are there gonna be teams?
I still think there may be teams interested in him
because it's a thin rookie class and somebody's perhaps gonna
want him, especially as a stop gap for a year.
So I think he may be around for another year.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Do you do you think that he would be willing
to take that role? Would he be willing to accept
that role and it with Yeah, as as my as
my wife would say, whenever she asks me to do
something that I don't want, I don't want to do,
she'll say, do it with a happy heart. So will
Aaron Rodgers be able to be histop gap with a
(18:25):
happy heart?
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Or No? I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
I do, I think really? Okay, Yeah, Like if he
started for the Giants or whoever, you know, I think
he'd be fine. I think he'd be totally fine with.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
It, totally fine with grooming a young guy and that
being his replacement.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Well, how many years do you think he's got left?
Do you think he's coming into a new team and
saying I've got like four or five years? He knows
that he's done.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
You're telling me something that Aaron Rodgers would seemingly be
happy to do that. It doesn't appear that he's been
happy to do anywhere.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Which said so, but he said it was well, he
said he was going to take that physician that he
would groom a younger quarterback go wherever he went.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Well, and Jordan Love appeared to love him right, even
though he was frustrated with the way things went when
Jordan Love was drafted and he wasn't consulted on it.
But I don't know, maybe he might be done. Have
you watched the Netflix series yet that he did.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
No?
Speaker 3 (19:23):
I haven't.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
I haven't either, So I mean again, this is usually
where someone yells, okay, your job. I'm like, listen, I
got Joan ban A Ramsay to catch up on Netflix,
and I just started watching another Unsolved Mystery season, so
I'll get to it in a bit, right, But I
just my point is, I don't know. I don't know
from his mindset what he wants to do. And then
you kind of hit it on the head, Arnie. If
(19:44):
someone just says, hey, I want you to come in
for a year, and then this is going to be
your victory lap. He wasn't really all that good this year.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
No, But I mean if he's if the Raiders had
come on in for a year, I think he'd be
more than happy to do something like that.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
With what receivers with Davis that we have break brock
Bowers is about it right now, and DeVonta Adams ain't
coming back.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
To the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Yeah, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
Well, as we.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Sit here right now, by the way, and I'm gonna
make sure to let you go through our first two segments,
the Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce is still employed.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Arnie, he hasn't been.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Jack del rioed whenever I was in the Fox Sports
Radio Tirack dot Com studios back on New Year's Day
twenty eighteen when we did this show, and I was
standing in the break room and I was watching the
screen that was in there, and it was Jack del
Rio saying, well, Mark Davis just told me he fired me.
(20:42):
So I'll take any questions you guys have. At least
they didn't do that yet, but we did see Gerard
Mayo get fired. As we watch the closing seconds tick
off this Sunday night football blowout Lions thirty one, Vikings nine.
Are you surprised at all to see the quick name
of the firing after just one season for the handpicked
(21:04):
Bill Belichick's successor.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I'm a little bit surprised, and I think it's unfair,
except for the fact that they want Rabel, So it
makes sense. It's just bad timing all the way around.
Except for Rabel and the Patriots, I understand what they're doing.
It just seems like it's unfair to fire somebody after
one year, But that's I think that's the way they
want to go. Chris right, They want to get Rabel,
(21:29):
so I think that's why they're doing all this.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
They want to The Jets have already talked to Rabel.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Yeah, but that's just a smoke screen. I guess Rabel
and the Patriots are very closed in the family and
they would want him tremendously.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
Who's he I guess this then becomes that question, who's
he closer with the actual Craft family?
Speaker 3 (21:51):
Or say it Tom Brady, because the rumor is in Vegas.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
Tom Brady wasn't necessarily on board with Antonio Peers getting
the job with the Raidar Did the Vikings just kneel
out a game when they're down thirty one to nine?
Speaker 3 (22:06):
What in the hell was that?
Speaker 1 (22:10):
What do you want them to do? Get somebody hurt
for the playoffs?
Speaker 2 (22:13):
I mean, throw it to your scrub fourth string receiving.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Thirty one to nine. You're not winning the game.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
You're gonna kneel out when you're down thirty one to nine,
at least hand a football.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
You want to credit you want to criticize somebody, Yeah,
you want to criticize somebody. Off, there's one team to
criticize more than anybody.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
I'm saying the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
No, not the Chiefs, who the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. How
they had the.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Game because they threw the ball to Mike Uh. They
to Evans and Mike Havis to give him his his bonus.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
His bonus and the record when they had the game one.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
I would have.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
Loved for him to be picked off or fumbled and
cost him the game for doing such nonsense. Shame on
them to show you that the bonus and the record
was more important than the team victory and they would
do something like that.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Yeah, that was terrible the way they all celebrated and
we're so excited for him, Chris.
Speaker 1 (23:10):
That's not the point.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
Dare actually do something for the player, Chris, That's not
the point.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
You know what they should have done. Take before the game.
The owners should have just said, you know what, we're
gonna give you your bonus, so don't do anything stupid like
throwing the ball when you have the game one and
risky an interception or something like that.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
They threw the most low risk interception you could our
low risk play you could possibly have, period, Arnie, if
this happened with any other team than your in depth
hatred of Baker Mayfield, then you would have no problem
with it at all.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
Stop. Get Joe Pisarcik on the phone. Please ask him
about well key fumbles and stuff.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Well, you're going back to like nineteen eighty two at
one time it happened.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
I've given you something, Chris, work with me.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Well there's been probably what like ten thousand games? Then,
come on, dude.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
That's the first that comes to mind.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
They threw an out pattern to Mike Evans, a Hall
of Famer, to get him over a thousand yards.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
Suppose it would have run off his hands, picked off
and run back for a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
Well that was a risk they were willing to take.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
But guess why because why but they want to get
Evans the record and a three million dollar bonus.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Yeah, absolutely, because that player matters to them in that.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
You know what, Chris is I get a bonus for
how many words I say? So, just ask me a
question I'm just gonna ramble on.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
You want to know this pretty much.
Speaker 1 (24:31):
I'm just gonna go ramble because I get paid by
the word now, Chris, so you get nothing and I'm
just gonna keep on talking for three hours. Tell me
how you like that?
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Well, I would do anything I could to help you
get your actual bonus. I wouldn't sit there and go no,
I'm gonna keep you from making extra money.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
You're a terrible person, aren't you.
Speaker 5 (24:51):
Fan?
Speaker 2 (24:52):
All right, coming to you live from the Tirack dot
Com studios. Here he is need miss Saga with an
update on everything going on in the world of sports.
Speaker 3 (24:58):
What's up, Steve?
Speaker 6 (25:00):
The regular season is over in the National Football LOA
Detroit thirty one to nine over Minnesota. By the way,
you asked how many games decided by one score in
the league this year. The answer one hundred and fifty
two decided by eight points or less, which is second
most in any season in the history of the NFL.
The record was set a couple of years ago. One
(25:21):
hundred and fifty six setch close game.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Much better a couple of years ago.
Speaker 6 (25:24):
I think Detroit's Tremier Gibbs with four touchdowns tonight giving
him a franchise record twenty total this season, thirty one
to nine the final, even though the lead was ten
to nine late in the third quarter and then Gibbs
had three unanswered touchdowns. He finished with twenty three carries
one hundred and thirty nine yards. Three of the touchdowns
were on the ground, one receiving. So a Minnesota team
(25:47):
that had won nine in a row is beaten at
Detroit and now has to go on the road to
open the playoffs at the Rams next weekend. That'll be
the Monday night game on January thirteenth. To finish out
wild card weekend. The Rams sat starters and lost a
close one at home to Seattle today thirty to twenty five.
Or else the Rams could have clinched the three seat
(26:07):
with a win or even a tie.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
Thank goodness. Gino Smith, though got a six million dollar bonus.
I was just so tuned into all begins as bonus.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
That was my priority in watching football today.
Speaker 6 (26:19):
Gina had four touchdown passes, so Tampa Bay is the
three seed in the NFC. Earlier in the Bucks clinched
the NFC South for a fourth straight year, beat New
Orleans twenty seven to nineteen Carolina won in overtime at Atlanta,
which finishes eight and nine. Indy finished eight and nine
with an overtime win at home against Jacksonville, New England
(26:40):
will not be drafting number one overall. The Patriots had
lost six in a row, but they won at home
today against Buffalo twenty three to sixteen, and then the
Patriots fired coach Girodmeo. Houston won at Tennessee twenty three
to fourteen. The Titans will draft number one overall. Cleveland
selects number two. The Browns fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey,
selecting No. Number three in April will be the Giants
(27:02):
who remember, not so long ago. Last weekend ended at
ten game loosening strake look great and then lost it.
People wearing green uniforms in Philadelphia twenty to thirteen today
so many starters were sitting. The Giants finished zero to
six in the Division three and fourteen overall. Chicago had
lost ten straight but won at green Bay twenty four
(27:23):
to twenty two on a fifty one yard field goal
on the final play. Green Bay, the seventh seed, opens
at Philadelphia next Sunday. Washington won its fifth straight a
twenty three to nineteen win at Dallas on a short
TD pass in the final seconds. Washington clinches the sixth
seed with the win, would have clinched it with a
Packer loss. Washington is at Tampa Bay next Sunday night.
(27:44):
The Jets won over Miami thirty two to twenty. Aaron
Rodgers four touchdown passes, the Dolphins finish eight to nine,
and yes, Tyreek Hill says I'm out. Denver over Kansas
City thirty eight nothing. Broncos at Buffalo next Sunday. Chiefs
had already clinched the one seed in the AFC. Broncos
get the last playoff spot in the AFC. Arizona beat
(28:05):
San Francisco forty seven to twenty four Kyler Murray four
touchdown passes, and the Chargers won at Las Vegas thirty
four to twenty. That Charger win gives them the five
seed in the AFC, which means they get to open
at the worst of the four division winners. They're at Houston,
and of course that is in the Saturday afternoon slot.
I believe this is literally the eighth time for the
(28:26):
Houston Texans to be in that time slot to open
wild Card weekend. In other words, not prime time, and
tonight again, the final was Detroit over Minnesota thirty one
to nine. I mentioned that breaks of Vikings nine game
winning streak. Their previous nine gamer came in nineteen seventy
five when they started ten to oh that year with
(28:46):
MVP quarterback.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Fran Tarkenton Fran the Man in the NBA.
Speaker 6 (28:50):
Oklahoma City won its fifteenth straight game beat Boston one
oh five to ninety two, and in women's college hoops
number nine, Oklahoma won at fifteenth rank Tennessee eighty seven
to eighty six. Don't Your Name Women won at North Carolina.
And among the NHL games, we had a win in
overtime for the Islanders at Boston five to four, and
(29:11):
fl regular season over As you mentioned earlier in the show,
the schedule is out for wild Card weekend. It starts
with Chargers at Houston Saturday.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Back to you, does that mean everything is good for
you to be here next Sunday night than Steve as
we Chargers game on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (29:27):
Oh, that's right, that's right. You don't get to the
home games.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
They're showing a Meek Robertson, the Lions cornerback who had
a good game tonight against Justin Jefferson. I can't help
but root for him because that man was in hell.
He was a raider from day one of his career
and finally got out this year only to go to
the Lions, where he became one of the best, one
of the better, I shouldn't say one of the best,
one of the better defensive players for the Lions.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
What a story, What a story for Detroit this year.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Now, the matchup didn't really play out like you would
want to kind of one side of the the Vikings
final score Steve said thirty one to nine. Vikings had
opportunities early in this game, Aren'tie and just I don't know.
It seemed like they didn't take points when they had
an opportunity too early, got when they could early. What'd
(30:14):
you make over all of the plan from Kevin O'Connell
in the first half of this year.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
I mean, there was still a close game though, even
with them not going for it, it was still a ten
nine game. And then yeah, then these Detroit scored made
it seventeen to nine. At that point, you're like, Okay,
Minnesota been to get on the board again, otherwise this
game is gonna be over real quick. That's exactly what happened.
Surprised that Minnesota didn't do a better job moving the
(30:38):
ball considering there's so many injuries on Detroit. Shocked at
the way the Detroit defense played. I couldn't believe it.
Maybe they're not as bad as I thought they're going
to be. Now they'll get some time the rest. That's
gonna help big time for them. Can't wait to see
what they do in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
I wonder, Yeah, I'm trying not to be overly knee
jerk on this game, but I wonder. I wonder if
it's gonna be tough to turn right around for Minnesota
after what happened tonight and then have to go Now,
you get an extra day, right because they will play
to Monday, and we'll be able to talk about that
(31:15):
game next Sunday night. But I don't know, it's just
so much on this game. Remember the owners went out
and bought what was it like, two million dollars worth
of tickets. Yeah, kind of a cool idea, and then
that's great to have it play out like this.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
I wonder if that's gonna be a little bit tough
emotionally and mentally to try to bounce back from.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
I don't think so. I mean, it's uh, I mean,
it's just one loss. Granted it's it's not something that
ends the season. They're still in a good position for
the playoffs and that Ram game, they're the favorite in
the game. I don't know if you know that Minnesota
is the favorite in that one. So if this game
was in Minnesota, they'd be close to a touchdown favorite.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
But it's not.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
I mean that that's a fun thing to say, Hey,
if this was here, it'd be that, but it isn't
so right, I mean.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
Even even they're two and a half point favored, so
Vegas is telling should.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Be they're they're a fourteen and three foot point team,
and Vegas tell me why that is a prise?
Speaker 1 (32:13):
No, But Vegas is telling you they're a five and
a half to six points better team than the Rams.
So I I don't.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
So you have no concerns over a game that was
built up to give you the one seed and a
division championship against what I guess you could say is
one of your rivals. You have no concerns over a
carryover effect for a team that has Minnesota's rosters.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
I think they're gonna be fine.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
No, I don't remember that. That was gonna be a
tough game anyway in Detroit. And look, fourteen and three
is a great season. I'm not gonna bet. I'm not
gonna say based on their last game loss means they're
gonna have a hangover going to the Los Angeles on
Monday night. I think they bounced back strong. They've they've
done it back all year, so I'm gonna give them
a little bit more credit than that.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
All right.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
So we have a lot of questions about a very
content traversial topic this week, Arnie. Number one, there's a
few people on X that feel like you haven't followed
through on payment.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
For those who.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Guessed what the bagels were they make it the other night.
Oh yeah, you promised a prize and you never followed
through on a number.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
One, Okay, I gotta get that answer. I got to
get the prize for that.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
And then number two, you did clarify that even though
all of your sauces that your wife, yes, even though
they were sitting on something that looks to be out
on a table and very organized, you pulled all of
those out of the fridge. So you're not risking some
sort of disease.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
You know that. No, I'm very crabby about that, though
I shouldn't be. Oh, I love all those sauces.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
I either not that bad for you.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
They're not.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
No, I mean, how much how much of it are
you using? I guess it would be the first question.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Well, I have so many of what I had, like
fifteen bottles worth. But I love that stuff. I but
she said that has all that soy oil and this
type of oil, that type of plastic in this type
of plastic. She won't even take the receipt from the
grocery store because she thinks there's something on the receipt.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Now she cares about you. She wants to make sure
that you're taking care of yourself. She wants I think
that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
She doesn't even like me.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
We got a lot of tech.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
I can't imagine why you sit here and talk about
how you make her shovel snow and how she had
propose to you. I don't know why she would be
mad at you at all. Beth is a saint. All right,
we got a break. When we come back to the
Tirack dot Com studios, let's hit your early text and
tweets to the show. Then coming up next hour, we'll
start hitting Roman numeral number eight. Alreadie has a topic
(34:36):
tonight overrated underrated teams and players from the twenty twenty
four regular season. We'll dive into that coming up next
right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
All right, let's hit some of these exes and twet
whatever the term is. We're getting a lot today with
Arnie and playing here on Fox Sports Radio. Paul writes,
I think Aaron Rodgers loves giving his opinion on all topics,
and being a starting NFL quarterback gives him that platform.
That's why he'll be a Titan next year. Might be
(35:17):
a pretty good fit with the Titans right day. I've
heard that rumor before.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
I can't believe he'd want to go there, maybe to
extend his career, but I would have to think that's
like one of the last teams on his list. He'd
want to go ahead and be there.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
Okay, show your work. Why do you think it'd be
one of the last teams he'd want to go to.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
Well, don look like they're going to the playoffs anytime soon.
You don't want to go after that style. You at
least prefer to be in a big market too. That's
zero for two.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
Now Nashville is a big market. Oh stop for Crest.
I'd rather be in Nashville than New York. I'd rather
be in Nashville in Los Angeles. I'd rather be in
Nashville than just about any city in America right now.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
The one plus that you could say maybe you could
win the division because the division isn't all that off.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
But in Brian Callahan, you've got an offensive mine the Titans.
You know, it's kind of funny you Endlessen. I'm trying
to stand up for a team that's got the first
pick in the draft, that has enough people on this
network trying to carry the water for him. But I mean,
you got Calvin Ridley as far as wide receiver, Tyler Boy,
they could invest he got the number one pick in
(36:22):
the draft, where they can go quarterback if they want,
or they could go Travis Hunter. I'm sure they would
go quarterback there if it's should or everyone suddenly tonight,
says cam Ward, Well, why so quick did this miss Tennessee?
Speaker 3 (36:34):
I think it's a possibility.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
And by the way, why am I seeing those stories?
Or maybe I have? Maybe I'm wrong, Maybe it's just
one story or two stories that Shader Sanders should not
be worthy of like a top ten or top fifteen pick.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
Because it happens every year in the NFL draft. Okay, okay,
I mean there's only Benner a Binner. There's only been
like one time I think whenever we've had a quarterback
that there wasn't a story somewhere that says hey be drafted.
I think that was Trevor Lawrence. I mean there were
stories about Cayleb Williams and even Jane Daniels last year.
So I feel like this happens every year, right, because
I know what you're talking about. Uh, And now everyone
(37:10):
has this graphic that they've got to put out that
has like a in all caps it's undraftable and Shador
Sanders shouldn't be drafted in the first round. I don't
get it, mister nobody. Who might be fired Antonio Pierce?
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Though?
Speaker 2 (37:26):
It scares me who Mark Davis might go after, who
won't be fired, but is presiding over another meltdown where
he's made zero adjustments. Mike Tomlin, Russ is cooked, and
Tomlin stood there like a Dick Sporting Goods mannequin.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
That's pretty good, mister nobody.
Speaker 1 (37:43):
I'm not gonna you know, if for all they give
him his compliments, they ever want a playoff game in
what like a does in our ten years or something
like that?
Speaker 2 (37:51):
Oh, you want to you want to play the game?
When was the last Steelers playoff win? Does jump off
the top of your head the time the Steelers won
a playoff game?
Speaker 1 (38:03):
No, it does not.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
You have to go back a little bit. The last
time they won a playoff game was twenty sixteen. They
moved on to the AFC Championship game that year, only
to lose the Patriots. But since then, right again, you know,
they've never had a losing record. But that would be one, two, three, four, five,
and potentially six well, I guess it would be potentially
five straight losses in the first round of the playoffs
(38:26):
if they lose at the Ravens, and those losses include
losses to teams like the Jaguars and the Browns. And
remember twenty twenty was the year when they started out
like ten to zero and then spit the bit down
the stretch field.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Well, they're not beating Baltimore on the road, so you
could forget about that.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
Joe Judges Berner, yes, who at the very least is
consistent in his absolutely hate field takes, which I love.
He writes, it's a new time in college football and
the overrated garbage conference SEC doesn't matter anymore. And don't
you dare anyone that's an SEC Homer claimed Texas when
(39:04):
they just joined three seconds ago.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Wow, he's a little bit right on that.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Though a little bit. I don't.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
It's not a garbage conference and it's not overrated. It's
no gaming and game out. Yeah, gaming and game out.
I think it's amazing.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
I trust me. I'm seeing it for the first time
this year.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
And then JJ in our final minute of hour one, right,
I feel the window is now closing. All the Dolphins already.
How about you and going forward? Who you got? I've
got the Lions of the Bills would be great for
a change and something different. You feel in the window close?
Speaker 1 (39:40):
Yeah, I am. I'm starting to suffocate a little bit.
I do feel the one you know, as much as
I say, I don't want Tyreek Hill. I'm like, well,
what are we gonna do? It's just gonna be wata.
We got to get somebody, and we do need another
running back. We hid just give it to ah In
all the time, and what about that offensive line and
it's just all falling apart. I just can't take it anymore.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Well, the good news is you actually have your first
round pick this year.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
You're picking thirteen, So maybe maybe that terrible running back
who finally played a real defense the other night, right, Yeah,
your words on Ashton Gent Yes, now you watch the
one ad Arnie's gonna do whenever the Dolphins taken with
the thirteenth pick, right round? Yeah, Tod Berman coming up
next hour, plus overrated underrated teams and players from twenty
(40:21):
twenty four.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Next don fox.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
All right, Arnie and play roll and our number three
here live from the tire iraq dot com studios.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
Tire iraq dot com.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
Will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers.
Tire rack dot com. The way tire buying should be.
Arnie is grumpy tonight, So just prepare yourself.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
No sauces anymore. My dolphins got eliminated. It's been a
very tough week for me.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
The one person who's ever TechEd, oh, no, two that
have ever tweeted into the show that say that we
the royal we uh tie shirts in tonight running the show,
you typically hear him Gosh, when is he not on
in the evenings here on Fox Sports? And if you're
on air, that's right, Pratt, Patrick Sweegart, producer Steve Sager
(41:13):
on updates, Mary Max traveling the globe.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
She'll be back probably next week.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
But the two people that have ever said we bully Arnie,
that completely goes out the window tonight because he's bullying
all of us.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
But there's a couple of good tweets here that I
want to get to before we move on to let
me see what was it on the Roman numeral rundown
that I want to get to here. Yeah, Roman numeral
number eight oh part seven seven.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Playoffs.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
Yeah, I don't not want to talk college football playoffs
with you. So here's the question from nature Boy. He writes,
you need to declare Casey is my chiefs Arnie. That
would be the ultimate curse, and we'll give them the
next Chicago Cubs type of drought.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
That's what we need, Mike, Kansas City Chiefs, That's exactly
what I need. I want them to lose. I never
want to see them played for another super Bowl, like
for the next twenty years. That's how much I want
to jinks this.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
There's a problem. They're really good.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
That's okay. Look, that's okay. That's what That makes the
jinks more powerful?
Speaker 3 (42:12):
Right that?
Speaker 1 (42:12):
You?
Speaker 3 (42:13):
So you think your jinx is more powerful because they're good.
Speaker 1 (42:17):
Well, you know, I'm pretty good at my jinks. You
know that, Chris, I know it is, it is, It
is very powerful.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
I'm a writer, Rob J. Wright.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
Gotta tell Plank that McDaniel maybe the lesser of the
two evils two longtime fans. General manager Chris ge Greer
for the Dolphins is a team killer twenty four years.
Speaker 3 (42:37):
As he's been with the Dolphins for twenty four years.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (42:41):
I scout head, scout assistant GM and now seven seasons
as a GM. Not one Rookie of the Year in
twenty four seasons.
Speaker 1 (42:51):
You think you get lucky one time, you know, just.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
One like one time you think you would right?
Speaker 4 (42:56):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (42:57):
Do you it doesn't seem like they're going to make
any moves in the front office and with their coach
at all.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
Right, isn't that what?
Speaker 1 (43:02):
No, they already came out and said that. So McDaniels
will be back Tyreek Hill, I guess, or you're going
to trade him, that's the question. Does he go back
to Kansas City? Doubtful, Maybe goes to Washington. I don't know,
but there's there'll be some takers out there. You're not
gonna get full value for him. You won't even get
close with Chris. Won't be lucky. You'll be lucky a
(43:24):
third or fourth rout of pickers.
Speaker 3 (43:25):
I was thinking fourth, okay.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
Paid third fourth. We're about on the same page.
Speaker 2 (43:29):
Do we need I want to schedule some time to
where we actually listen to the full audio because it's
and it's only like two minutes long. But it's sometimes
things can get taken out of context, like, for instance,
we we've got just the hey, I'm out bro, but
(43:51):
the whole thing was interesting.
Speaker 3 (43:52):
Have you listened to the whole thing yet?
Speaker 4 (43:54):
No?
Speaker 3 (43:55):
Post games?
Speaker 1 (43:55):
I mean I heard of the little part where I'm
out bro and something else, but I know he did
say I have to do what's better best for my career.
I know that part too.
Speaker 2 (44:05):
Here's just a couple of clips of that real quick.
This is Tyreek kill. Now obviously there's there's frustration over
the way things have gone for the Dolphins this year.
I in all of this, I think one of the
things that kind of caught my ear was I was
unaware that he had never never missed the playoffs during
his career. But here's Tyreek talking about doing what is
(44:28):
best for Tyreek.
Speaker 7 (44:29):
I just got to do what's best for me and
my family. Go if that's here, if that's where, wherever
the case may be. Man, I'm I'm finn open that
door for myself. Donald as I'm opening the door like.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
I'm out bro. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:44):
So again, that's a clip, and sometimes those clips can
be taken a little bit out of context. When we
were getting ready for the show, I sat and listened
to the whole thing. It's not that it's just not
great audio, and it's like two minutes long. So I
guess maybe the best thing to say is if you
guys can take him word, it's not taking out of context.
I mean that's literally him saying I got to do
what's best for my family, if that's here, if that's
(45:06):
somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (45:07):
But then he wraps it with him out. Bro. I mean,
it's like, where are we even going with this? Right?
Speaker 1 (45:11):
What do you think is bothering him the most? Is
it the way that Dolphins endling things in the front
office or does he does not think that too is
a good enough quarterback.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
I don't think it's a problem with Tua because in
the full run of this he talked about losing your
quarterback and how much that hurt them, right, And I wonder,
I know that you don't care about this, but I
wonder if Tyreek's no dummy when it comes to this stuff.
I wonder if there is a concern Arnie about this
dude being able to make it through his seventeen game
(45:40):
season because he's done it once right in his career
so far.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
And listen, it's fair.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
People can make fun of you and picking the Dolphins
to go to the Super Bowl every single year, and
that's fine.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
But they were an infinitely better team when he was
on the field.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
How much was yeah, it was it night and day.
I think they average twenty five only six points a
game when he played eleven when he didn't play, so
it's night and day. It's an argument.
Speaker 2 (46:06):
You still lost to the Titans with him on the field,
So I mean there is that, but again, it's a
different world, so I don't know what to make of it.
I do think that I know he's getting in that
thirty plus range. He's thirty one years old, and that's
when everyone starts to freak out about a receiver's you know,
overall skill set.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
But I think there'll be a market there for him,
I really do.
Speaker 2 (46:26):
I think there'll be teams that if you're looking at
a fifth because it's a lot of money. You know,
he's under contract until twenty twenty six, right if you're
willing to take a fifth, I think you'll be able
to move on from him because I feel like you
have a dude in jal Jay and Waddle who can
be your one.
Speaker 1 (46:40):
But just the money, we're gonna that he's gonna demand.
T Higgins is gonna want that money, and te Higgins
is not as good as Tyreek Hil.
Speaker 3 (46:46):
I take t Higgins over Tyreek Hill right now.
Speaker 1 (46:48):
Well, that's why you're not a gum, Chris Well.
Speaker 2 (46:50):
I mean, listen, you told everyone to take Tyreek Hill
this year as their number one receiver, that you would
have him as the number one receiver overall period.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
And look where it's got you ready to quarterback? Got hurt, Chris.
Speaker 2 (47:02):
You're saying that you're ready to move on from him,
and you're saying that you would that you would take me.
Speaker 1 (47:07):
I'm ready to I'm ready to move on from he's
giving me an attitude. If you're gonna give me an attitude,
I gotta move on from you.
Speaker 2 (47:12):
If you move on from every NFL player that gives
you an attitude.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
Right, you can have a team.
Speaker 1 (47:17):
Was it, Chris? If my girlfriends ever gave me an attitude,
I move on my friend. I don't think attitude from anybody.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Well, like I just said, then, well you're lucky you
got bath and number two. You're not gonna have a
team because you're constantly getting attitude. And I'll tell you what,
I don't have a problem with him being upset whenever
you miss the playoffs. I guess the problem is, Hey,
I gotta do what's best for me, whether it's here
or there. Creating that kind of drama going into the
off seas you weren't. And this is a guy that
loves drama.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
You weren't worried about what's best for your family when
I gave you that big time contract when you came
over here, did you know.
Speaker 3 (47:50):
Well, I mean that football games.
Speaker 2 (47:53):
I guess yeah, nor did you because he was producing
for you. Now all of a sudden, you're like, gosh,
you're getting him out of there. Rick Flair checked in,
and I think this is good nature. Boy, He writes,
how drunk or high is Arnie to troll about the
Dolphins and Chiefs, and will he allegedly threaten to quit
his job over this? I think he should eat a
large bag of potato chips without any drinks for punishment
(48:15):
and film it for Twitter.
Speaker 3 (48:16):
Wow, I eat a large bag of chips, but without
a drink.
Speaker 1 (48:19):
Yeah, I need a drink. I need to have like
a you who or something like that you who.
Speaker 2 (48:24):
Paul writes, the same people who lost their money on
Arnie's picks are the same people who lost all their
money on Hawk to a girl's cryptocurrency. Well, I mean,
I think Arney's got a little bit better track record
than her.
Speaker 1 (48:34):
I do, I do? And how about the guy you
got to read? The one, that guy that sent us
in his picks. It was earlier in the show this time, Chris,
did you see that?
Speaker 3 (48:42):
No? I did not. That was probably one that just
was tagged to you.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
It was he said that he out of like two
hundred and seventy two games against not against the spread,
he picked sixty six percent.
Speaker 3 (48:54):
Right.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
I'm like, well, not against the spread, big deal. If
it's not against the spread, up pick ninety, then.
Speaker 3 (49:02):
I'll take that bet. I bet you won't.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
Hevn one more, one more before we get to a
Roman numeral number.
Speaker 3 (49:10):
What is it? Seven?
Speaker 2 (49:11):
Here, Paul writes, because I think that this is uh,
this is actually a really good point. I think the
Patriots are set up to make a big run next year.
Rabel will be a huge upgrade may Is mobile with
a rocket arm, and the Pats have one hundred and
thirty one million in cap space next year. Plus the
Jets and the Dolphins are currently a mess. Oh no, Arnie,
(49:34):
are you going to start falling apart as a Dolphins
franchise only to watch the resurgence of the Patriots right
under your nose.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
No, I won't do that. I can't do that. I
may have to pick it up. I can't be a
Dolphin fan anymore. This is killing me.
Speaker 2 (49:47):
I wish I could find a way to quit my team.
I haven't been able to. I mean, if you, if
you are able to do it, good luck. Yeah, please
let me know, please let me do it, all right?
The playoffs are set for next week. Here's your schedule quickly.
Chargers of Texas on Saturday. That's the four to thirty
Eastern game. Steelers at Ravens the primetime game on Saturday night.
Then Sunday you get a triple header Broncos at Bills
(50:08):
in the typical one Eastern slot, Packers at Eagles for
thirty Eastern then at primetime next Sunday night while this
show is going on, Washington at Tampa Bay. And then
the Monday night football game is the Vikings at the
Rams now Arnie in the Roman numeral rundown Well and
Sunday night football. Lions beat the Vikings thirty one to nine.
They're the one seed and the NFCS the Chiefs are
(50:28):
in the AFC overrated underrated team slash players. Yes, this season,
what do you have in mind here?
Speaker 3 (50:35):
What will the.
Speaker 1 (50:36):
Number one overrated team? I'm gonna have to say is
the Jets, right, I mean there were team people that
were actually betting the Jets to go to the Super
Bowl and win the Super Bowl. People betting on like
Rogers to win the MVP expectations through the roof. People
were betting the over on the win totals, betting to
(50:56):
win the AFC East. They have to be the biggest
disupport man in the entire NFL, at least in my opinion,
they are.
Speaker 2 (51:03):
Okay, I would say I disagree. Oh, I think it's
the Niners. I mean you're talking about the Jets were
at nine and a half over under win total for
twenty twenty four, so I agree. There is no doubt
they're one of the biggest disappointments in the National Football right.
(51:24):
But the San Francisco forty nine ers over underwent total
was eleven and a half. They were a hands down
slam dunk favorite to not only win the NFC West,
but to be the Super Bowl repeat contender. Right to
be a team that's gonna be there come February thirteen, fourteenth,
(51:44):
whenever the Super Bowl is and Arnie, they got smoked today.
I get it that it was the final game of
the season and nobody cares, but they got embarrassed by
the Arizona Cardinals and it was just a disaster. So
I'm not disagreeing with you that the Jets were an
overall overrated.
Speaker 3 (52:02):
Disappointment this year.
Speaker 2 (52:04):
But I don't know how you couldn't have the forty
nine ers ahead of them unless you're giving them out
because of their injuries.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
Sem Yeah, and I am giving them a partial credit
because of that, But the fact that they finished six
and eleven, now that the season's over, Chris, do you feel,
what's the word I'm looking for, any less about Brock
Purdy than you did I guess coming into the year.
Do you feel I guess do you feel like he's
(52:30):
not the answer now because they had such a bad year.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
I don't know if I would go that far, But.
Speaker 1 (52:37):
You called San Francisco the biggest disappointment now, right, But
then again, and that usually blame on the quarterback, It
usually goes.
Speaker 2 (52:43):
Well, I'm not someone that puts everything on the quarterback, right,
you say usually, But I don't think Brock Perdy was
the reason they were as bad as they were, just
like I don't think Aaron Rodgers was the reason that
the Jets were as bad as they were. But I
thought I thought Rock Perdy played better than Aaron Rodgers
this year. Now I think think it's natural to have
questions whenever your team is that bad about the quarterback
(53:04):
position and the Niners are sitting with the decision about
what they do, do you invest or, I don't know,
do you decide to go back to the draft because
we've it's been proven that the forty nine ers are
not very good at drafting quarterbacks. They got lucky with
you say it, Niner fans with me, and it's okay,
you got lucky with Brock Purty. There is not another
mister Irrelevant that's a starting quarterback in the NFL, and
(53:26):
I don't think there's ever been one in the history
of the league. Right, you batch the Trey Lance signing
Jimmy Garoppolo, you gave up on and moved on, But
that was another trade. You have not drafted well in
this regime at quarterbacks. So do you take that risk
of punning on Purty letting him at free agency because
(53:47):
you got Kirk Cousins out there, you might have Sam
Darnold out there. Like, I don't know what you do, Arnie,
because you're inevitably gonna have to pay brock Purty, and
it seems as if everyone still believes in him in
that franchise.
Speaker 1 (53:59):
I heard Colin bring this up, and we brought this
up before. Colin, remember when I said last week, or
maybe it could have been on Tuesday when we were
filling and I don't even know anymore. I said, I'm
not paying him fifty million dollars a year. I'll keep
rock Party, but not for fifty million dollars a year.
You better start thinking with the first digit being a
three or four, because you're not starting with a five.
(54:21):
And if that's the case, then I'll go in a
different direction. I don't think this year changed my mind
all that much. I do think he's a good quarterback,
and I do think he's a starter in the NFL.
I just I'm just not putting him in that upper
echelon and I'm not going to give him that type
of money. I see, oh the way the Cowboys are
(54:42):
suffering because of Dak Prescott. I don't want the same
thing to happen to my team.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
Well, I mean, if I'm a forty nine or fan,
it's again the going rate for quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (54:51):
Though, if you no, that's.
Speaker 1 (54:53):
Going right for that with um upper echelon? Chris, isn't
it for all of them?
Speaker 3 (54:57):
Pretty much anymore?
Speaker 2 (54:58):
I guess if you're a star any quarterback in the
I mean, do you consider Dak Prescott to be the
upper echelon of quarterbacks?
Speaker 3 (55:05):
No?
Speaker 1 (55:05):
I don't, No, I do not.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
Well, he's currently got the highest value, the highest what
is average per year deal in the NFL? What's sixty mil?
There's Burrow, Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence to Jared. You consider
Jared Goff in the upper echelon? He makes more money
than Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
I can't play. I can't pay brock Purty that type
of money that everybody that you just mentioned in that category.
Though again, like I said, I don't blame him for
the stuff that the forty nine ers went through.
Speaker 4 (55:33):
Though.
Speaker 3 (55:34):
Okay, then where are you on underrated teams and players?
Speaker 1 (55:38):
Well, obviously you start with Minnesota right and Sam Donald?
You could do two right off the bat, Sam Donald,
I mean is he underrated or did he just? Is
he a one hit wonder?
Speaker 3 (55:48):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (55:48):
Like we see in music all the time, Like you
like to say, Chris.
Speaker 2 (55:51):
That's right, one hit wonder like DEXI and the Midnight runners.
You know what the over come on Eileen? Come on, Arnie,
do you know what the over under for the Vikings
was this year?
Speaker 1 (56:01):
Seven and a half?
Speaker 3 (56:02):
Six and a half?
Speaker 2 (56:04):
Yeah, nothing cashed after like week seven him this year.
That's how good they were. So I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (56:10):
I I guess I gotta throw the Broncos in there.
Speaker 1 (56:14):
I've got to throw especially when they were two and
six also, right.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
Yeah, I mean, and let's be honest, it's not like
in those first eight games that bo Nicks looked all
that great. Right, that was a team who everyone expected
five and a half was there overrup year?
Speaker 1 (56:32):
You know where we have to throw in there too?
What was their win total? You have to look at
it up real quick. I'm talking about the Cleveland Browns,
and I know their quarterback went down, but some people
she thought that this was gonna be their year.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
Work eight and a half, they're.
Speaker 1 (56:45):
Gonna win the division. That's that's I mean, that's above
five hundred. I guess if you win nine games, But jeez,
I would think that's disappointing winning three when you're up
that much.
Speaker 2 (56:55):
I thought I thought you were gonna say underrated for them.
That's what they went through this year. I still by
the way the Brown I still don't know how they
don't have the first round pick, the number one pick
over on the draft.
Speaker 3 (57:06):
And I still don't know how.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
They went through so many quarterbacks when everyone was always
telling me how great Jamis Winston was. Only to see
Dorian Thompson Robinson beat him out and then something Bailey
Zappi starting the rest of the sea.
Speaker 3 (57:18):
Front the games this season makes no sense.
Speaker 1 (57:21):
All right.
Speaker 2 (57:21):
When we come back to the tyrack dot com studios,
we'll hit the hotline to talk to our buddy Todd
Furman and get the perspective from Vegas. Rough day and
Vegas are a good one. We'll get to details and
next on Fox Sports Radio. It's already in play. Come
to you live for the tyrack dot Com Studios. Yes,
I've heard this, Alex. It's absolutely it's absolutely terrible. We
(57:41):
are pup Great County every.
Speaker 3 (57:44):
Single Sunday at this time.
Speaker 2 (57:45):
To have been joined by Todd Freman through out the
college and pro football season and beyond, and he joins
us now live from Vegas. Todd, good day, bad day
for the books. How did it shake out?
Speaker 5 (57:56):
Uh lower handles than normally? What they'll see during the
course of the regular season, but you can make the
case and the final tallies aren't in that. This is
a banner day by the book standards when you get
all of these underdogs, not just the cover games, but
to win outright, especially of the double digit variety. The
most popular game for the general betting public today was
the Atlanta Falcons, because, as we all know, gentlemen, when
(58:16):
a team is in a must win situation, that must
mean they're not very good. They laid the premium vetement, teasers,
money line parlays, in a variety of other ways, and
then the total and tonight's game helped out. Although the
public did bet the Lions despite professionals coming in on
the vikings, the fact that this total continue to get
bet up and never snipped it with some of San
Donald's struggles had to put the books in a very
good day, arguably one of the best that they've had
(58:38):
since September.
Speaker 1 (58:39):
Why didn't people just bet a gazillion dollars on the
Broncos today?
Speaker 5 (58:43):
I mean because most people don't have gazillion dollars in
their bank account or their online accounts arny, So that's
where you have a luxury and a competitive advantage over
everybody else that you can bet three or four additional
commas or decimal points, as the case may be.
Speaker 1 (58:56):
Fore that, Todd, that was an easy one.
Speaker 5 (59:00):
I mean, I think a lot of people felt the
same way when they saw tampbeling a big number early
in the day, and a variety of these other games.
But no doubt Denver got that seven nothing lead early,
was able to play downhill, and clearly Kansas City were
hell bent on keeping the Cincinnati Bengals home for the postseason.
Speaker 3 (59:15):
So how much money did you make them betting on
the Broncos today? Aren'tie? If it was easy?
Speaker 1 (59:20):
We'll get to that later on.
Speaker 2 (59:23):
That was easy, pick, I made so much money. By
the way, Todd, you're legit. I'm watching and for somehow
I got caught up in the gambling algorithm and all
these people that are like I put two hundred thousand
dollars because they wouldn't let me put five hundred thousand
dollars on the Browns because ain't no one going to
cover that spread?
Speaker 3 (59:40):
And I'm like, what what are we talking about? I mean,
why is this gambling world on social media?
Speaker 2 (59:46):
As I don't know ridiculous as it is right now,
and how hard is it to cut through what's real
and what is it?
Speaker 5 (59:51):
I'm ninety eight percent of it isn't real, so we
can save you the trouble right off the top. Much
of it like what comes out of Arnie's mouth every
Sunday night during this radio program. But at the same time,
it's those big numbers that really capture headlines. And I
think that's the way the gambling industry is covered at large,
that you know, there's nothing sexy about someone that does
it for a living trying to tell you their goals
hit fifty four percent of their games and string together
(01:00:14):
singles people want to try and see the twelve to
fourteen team parlays some of the other more elaborate stories
that are out there. And when people are telling you
that they're betting large amounts at some of these national books,
it should automatically raise some red flags because, as we know,
the more sophisticated you are, the harder it is to
move those through legal channels.
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
Unfortunately, Todd, tonight a big night for you and the pros.
The playoff lines come out, Do you guys jump on
them or do you wait for them to go in
a direction you think I will benefit you for the
for the team that you want to take, or do
you think it just always moves against you.
Speaker 5 (01:00:47):
You tell me, the market continues to get more and
more efficient, and you know, as frustrating as is having
done this as long as I have, you look at
some of these numbers and if you're not first to
the trigger your last perfect illustration Chargers Houston. You know,
thought that total was going to open a touch higher.
The forty four is get cleared out almost immediately and
we're down to forty three. You know, any professional better
(01:01:07):
that I think had eyes on the rams, hoping that
the Vikings played a little bit better than what we
saw against the Lions and their red zone and aptitude,
maybe looking for three on that game. That number now
widely available at one and a half, two, and a
lot of these numbers, you just don't really want to
try and jump into the deep end of the pool
unless something is egregiously priced. You want to do a
little bit of a deep dive and try and find
other derivative markets that you may want to attack. So
(01:01:30):
it gets more and more challenging, especially with the NFL.
As we continue to look at the markets and college
football not far behind for how quickly those numbers get
sharpened up on a weekend week out.
Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
Basis Todd any surprise shifting to college real quick that
we've seen limited to nail line movement at all. It
looked like what maybe a little bit of money coming
in on Texas been six and a half to six
in that Ohio State Texas game, and it seems as
if it stayed pretty much in one and a half
from the opening line for Notre Dame and Penn State.
Maybe I think what had jumped out to two and
(01:02:00):
a half for not Dame for a bit, But are
you surprised we haven't seen more movement in these numbers in.
Speaker 5 (01:02:06):
The Texas Ohio State game. I think is probably one
of the more interesting ones because this was a game
that we saw before Ohio State blasted Tennessee and put together,
you know, a repeat performance against Oregon and the rosebull
You'd been looking at Ohio State Texas right around to
pick them when this playoff started. But Ohio State starting
to regain the form of a team that was power
rated number one coming into the season by a lot
(01:02:27):
of the guys that I respect the most in this
particular space, And you even saw Ohio State open excuse me,
minus four when this price was first posted against the
long runs for the Cotton Bowl. Immediately bet up. It
got up as high as six and a half, and
guys that I had spoken to were looking for a
seven never got there, and the market is kind of
corrected itself, hovering around six. And it's all about how
(01:02:48):
you want to evaluate Ohio State potentially being overvalued or
are they finally being priced like the team that a
lot of people anticipated coming into the year. Does Texas
have another gear offensively that we haven't seen? Can they
provide I had enough resistance on the defensive side for
an Ohio State offense that looks to be humming on
all cylinders right now. So I'm very curious to see
where this number goes. But if you like the Longhorns,
(01:03:09):
there's plenty of six out there. There's no real reason
to try and bet them now if the public can
drive this up to six and a half, and there's
an outside chance that the seven will present itself in
the game on Thursday Notre Dame and Penn State. And
you know you mentioned Chris where this number opened with
the Irish a one to one and a half point favorite.
We do see plenty of two out there and even
some two and a half, But if you like Penn State,
you're not running to the window at least seventy two
(01:03:31):
hours to ninety six hours before kickoff to bet Penn State.
You're hoping that some book gets inundated with a little
bit of Irish money and you'll have an opportunity to
grab three. The total on both these games, though, have
seen under money's notre dame. Penn State opened its high
as fifty, but it wasn't why the available forty seven
and a half is kind of what i'll call the
true opener, and that got beat down to forty six
and a half, as low as forty five and a
(01:03:51):
half some shops, and the same thing for Ohio State
Texas a total open to's highest fifty four and a half,
and we're now down to fifty three. As all four
of these teams can run the football well and they
can play defense, not coincidence that they're the only four
teams still standing in the FBI and Todd.
Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
For blue Blood. So I'm assuming you're getting a healthy
dose of money on these four games are.
Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
All These games, These games are the book makers dream.
I mean, you look at standalone time slots with one
game on Thursday, another game on Friday, You'll have a
variety of exotic wagers that will get tied into the
three day extravaganza that is Wildcard Weekend on Saturday, Sunday
and Monday. The books will be jam packed from kickoff
of the Notre Dad Penn State game down in Miami
Gardens on Thursday night up until we know who's going
(01:04:35):
to get out of LA with a win between the
Rams and the Viking. So handle through the roof and
for some folks, they'll kick things off off for Championship
week as early as Tomorrow night with the STS Championship
between North Dakota State and Montana State and their traditional
home of Frisco, Texas and Toyota Stadium.
Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
Hey Todd, found thought for me just looking ahead the
next week. Any concerns on the injury situation, I guess
you could say regarding Jordan Love or or Jane Daniels
at all next week?
Speaker 5 (01:05:01):
No, Jane Daniels, not so much. I think this number
is a true reflection of where it should be priced
with Tampa Bay a three point favorite, inching towards three
and a half as you try and assess where these
two teams are. Jordan Love is going to be a
different storyline to follow, and we did see what Philadelphia
open as shortest three and a half number leaked out
to four and a half amid speculation that Jalen Hurts
will be a full go. But the Packers have been
(01:05:23):
one of the more polarizing teams down the stretch. You
go through their resume and you look to try and
final season defining wins, and they're surprisingly inconspicuous. And if
Love is all limited for that game, look, Malik Willis
has been one of the better stories as a reclamation
project going up against that Philadelphia defense not the recipe
for success. So I'm very curious to see where the
next move comes in. If it's four and a half
(01:05:44):
continuing to trend up into no man's land, or there's
a little bit of an appetite on the Green Bay
Packers and this number comes down for that two to
seven showdown in Philadelphia. A rekindling of both matchups on
Sunday that we saw way back in Week one one
in Brazil, and of course one in camp and Jane
Daniels first game as approbram Well.
Speaker 1 (01:06:02):
Last thing, Todd, no news is good news, So I
assume you're still gonna have a coach in Vegas or
what I mean?
Speaker 5 (01:06:08):
Look, most organizations can move as quickly as the New
England Patriots while the body was still warm sciding the
far Aways with your odd mayo in the wake of
them squandering the number one pick in the draft. I'm
not sure if the Raiders will move tomorrow on Black
Monday or what the narrative will be. The team showed
fight down the stretch, but look, they showed fight to
close out last season. Somewhere along the way, you have
(01:06:30):
to burn it down to build it up, and this
Raiders team toiling away at four and thirteen not going
to get it done until they identify a franchise quarterback
and the perfect head coach to try and bring them along.
Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
Good Man Todd, Thanks as always, Buddy. Go check out
his podcast, bet the Board podcast and we'll talk to
you next Sunday.
Speaker 5 (01:06:47):
Always a pleasure, gentlemen, enjoy these semifinals. I can't wait
to chat about what we've seen transpiring. Wild Stard Weekend.
We reconvene next week.
Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
That's wild Man next week, and whenever we all get
back together here on Sunday night, not only will we
have three teams that have moved on and three teams
eliminated from the NFL playoffs, Man Arnie will have the
final two for the college football National Championship. All Right,
Steve Sager is in the house with everything that's trending in.
Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
The world of sports.
Speaker 6 (01:07:14):
What's going on, Steve, We'll start with the Tyreek Hill story.
As the Dolphins receiver has apparently played his last game
with Miami. He did tell the media he wanted out.
His coach, Mike McDaniel, was then asked about that and
said regard to these things, stated to me secondhand, emotions
are high after a game. There will be conversations that
will be direct in the next couple of days, and
(01:07:36):
the coach added, there's a lot of power in having
a team that wants to stay together and play for
a common goal. He did note that Tyreek Hill was
unavailable during the finale today. The coach was not quit
on the team, it was some new injury or something.
Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:07:52):
In fact, McDaniel said of Tyreek Hill seemingly pulling himself
out of the game. There are guys on the field competing,
and I was trying to win a game. Tampa Bay
wound up not only division champ but three seed after
a home win in Tampa against New Orleans twenty seven
to nineteen. And then in LA the Rams sat starters
and lost a close one at home to Seattle thirty
(01:08:14):
to twenty five. And yes, as you mentioned earlier, wide
receiver for the Bucks, Mike Evans had nine receptions eighty
nine yards in the win. That last reception put him
at one thousand and four receiving yards this season.
Speaker 3 (01:08:28):
Is there any difference.
Speaker 6 (01:08:29):
Between that, by the way, and the streak continuing with
Josh Allen just showing up at the beginning saying, hey,
I played a game.
Speaker 1 (01:08:36):
The street people that ripped for that too, don't think
they haven't.
Speaker 6 (01:08:39):
Well, I mean, neither is real in the level of competition, right,
I mean, you got it. This is there's a bonus
involved with me.
Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
More for Josh Allen, because at least he was healthy
and ready to play. This was a joke. You're risking,
You are risking a win just going for money and
for a record.
Speaker 6 (01:08:59):
That's what you did for and this was, yeah, the
eleventh straight season with at least one thousand receiving yards,
tying Jerry Rice, which sounds very impressive, and I'm almost
gonna say it is, except we now have a seventeenth game.
Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
In the regular season.
Speaker 1 (01:09:12):
How about that.
Speaker 6 (01:09:13):
Didn't exist before. Aaron Rodgers four touchdown passes in the
win over Miami thirty two to twenty. One of those
tds was to DeVante Adams, by the way, So Aaron
Rodgers at five hundred three touchdown pass graduations ERA in
his regular season career. Only five guys in NFL history
have five hundred regular season touchdown passes. Tom Brady's number
(01:09:35):
one with six forty.
Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
Nine enjoy Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (01:09:38):
The thing is.
Speaker 6 (01:09:39):
Rogers reached five hundred TV passes in under two hundred
and fifty games in his regular career a regular season career,
so he joins Peyton Manning the only two guys to
get to five hundred in under two hundred and fifty
career games. Impressive. Houston won at Tennessee. Titans will draft
number one overall as New England at home one against
(01:10:00):
Buffalo Indian overtime beat Jacksonville, Carolina in overtime one at Atlanta.
Philadelphia beat the Giants. Chicago ended a ten game losing
streak kicking a fifty one yard field goal on the
final play for a win at Green Bay twenty four
to twenty two. Washington won its fifth in a row
on a late touchdown at Dallas. Denver beat Kansas City
(01:10:20):
thirty eight nothing as yes KC SAT starters Broncos. With
the win clinch the final AFC playoff spot. Chargers won
at Las Vegas thirty four to twenty. The Charger win
gives them the five seed in the AFC. Chargers open
at Houston Saturday afternoon. That puts Pittsburgh at Baltimore on
Saturday night, and Arizona finished eight to nine, beating San
(01:10:40):
Francisco forty seven to twenty four Kyler Murray four touchdown passes,
and tonight at Detroit. The regular season ended with a
Lions victory over Minnesota thirty one to nine. It was
ten to nine late third gorter Jamier Gibbs four total touchdowns,
so the Lions clinched the division title, clinch the NFC's
one seed. The Lions have next week off, while Minnesota
(01:11:02):
will be at the Rams in a Monday night game
to finish wild Card Weekend on the thirteenth. And by
the way, the golf season started this weekend in Hawaii.
The winner was Hideki Matsuyamo at thirty five under par
for the four rounds. That's a team that's a tour record,
a three shot win over Colin Morikawa, and he takes
home three point six million dollars today.
Speaker 3 (01:11:25):
Back to you, are you just gonna complain about everything tonight?
Speaker 1 (01:11:28):
Why what am I complaining about? I'm not good.
Speaker 3 (01:11:30):
Rating to Sager.
Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
Every single update you had early, he had some smarmy
comment about it.
Speaker 3 (01:11:36):
So you're saying you've heard Arnie before.
Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
Wow, I mean, my gosh, man, we try to tell
you your Dolphins weren't going to make the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:11:45):
We try to tell you that four weeks ago, and
you just wouldn't listen.
Speaker 4 (01:11:47):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:11:48):
Actually, Arnie's comment two weeks ago was when I said,
the Chargers have literally the two worst teams in the
AFC as their last two opponents. If they can't get
into the playoffs, they don't deserve to go. And then
Arnie immediately shouts.
Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
But they're on the road, on the road.
Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
For both of those I'm sorry. One of those wisdom
was in hate.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
When you use my own words against me, I don't
like that.
Speaker 6 (01:12:12):
Well, usually we don't remember most of them, but this
kind of stood out.
Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
That's right, all right. It's a Arnie a Plank on
a Fox Sports Sunday. So there is I guess a
little bit of contradiction there right on the Tyreek Hills
story where Tyreek says, you know, coach took me out,
and that's all Mike McDaniel basically says I didn't think
that he was. Well, I'll go ahead and translate. He's
(01:12:37):
basically saying he wasn't putting forth the effort you need
to put forth to be on the field.
Speaker 1 (01:12:41):
Right, Mike mcdetd. I thought Mike McDaniel actually said, quote unquote,
he quit on the team.
Speaker 3 (01:12:45):
Quit on the team. I mean, what's harsh? That just
that's about as harsh as it gets.
Speaker 1 (01:12:53):
When you do that. I want you gone, I want goodbye.
Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
I have no room for you when you quit on
the team.
Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
When we come back to the tire rack dot Com
Studios got a little bit more from the Seger. I
wouldn't mind touching on some of the college football stuff.
You asked a question in Roman numeral ten, what would
you change?
Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
I don't know if I need to knee jerk after
this year because how many first round by teams won, Arnie, It's.
Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
Not only the first round byes. I also want home
field advantage, which I've been saying to you for a
long time. I never like neutral games like you like
you like with Texas and Oklahoma and Florida Georgia.
Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
I want terrible in the Cotton Bowl here, right.
Speaker 1 (01:13:34):
I want home field, especially when it gets to the playoffs,
because it was so enjoyable in the first round.
Speaker 3 (01:13:39):
It was great.
Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
I'm with you on that, but uh with my point
was and the question was how many teams were the
first round by one.
Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
Zero? Right?
Speaker 2 (01:13:49):
So I don't really know if we're gonna look at
these first round byes as this massive advantage, as much
as it would be to be able to have those
teams still play a game at home, and I think
that could be the reality of what takes place. But
there's going to be a lot of discussions about rankings
and first round by during the off season of college football.
All Right, we'll get more from the Saga and get
(01:14:09):
your tweets coming up at Stinking Genius One. I'm at
Plank Show. Everyone go follow us at Fox Sports Radio.
I were rolling on a Sunday night into a Monday
morning for a lot of people. Arnie on the well,
I say, on the East Coast, it's Monday. But the
sixth day of January is really the start of twenty
twenty five.
Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:14:29):
If you maybe took some time off for Christmas or
for the New Year, this starts your first full week
of actual work.
Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
Intechty to work, people back to work.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
My kids don't go to school until Tuesdays, so.
Speaker 1 (01:14:42):
They get modet auty year.
Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
Yeah, they got extra day. And then I think the
Sega has been keeping eye on this all day long.
Weather wise, right, Steve all over Kansas City barely got
out yesterday.
Speaker 3 (01:14:52):
In fact, Arnie was worried about a forfeit.
Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
I was so like, watch him get a fourfeit Visit
doesn't mean that he's and I'm gonna lose my marvels
if that happens.
Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
You know what that's got me look into Sager, Steve
Saga joints is in your mind? Has there ever been
a forfeit in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (01:15:10):
Was actually a three to three game that was called
in preseason at Canton because of a storm that it
did actually start.
Speaker 2 (01:15:17):
Though there have been according to the always necessary quick
Google search, there have been no forfeits in league history.
A nineteen to twenty one game between Rochester, who I
had the over on that game, and the Washington Senators
is listed as a forfeit because of the lax cancelation
rules of the time and uncertainty over which team was
(01:15:40):
at fault.
Speaker 6 (01:15:41):
At Kansas City, it's about ten degrees at the most
tonight the snow had arrived. But by the time Kansas
City actually has a playoff game at home in a
couple of weeks, temperature we'll be back in the twenties.
Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
It's gonna be freezing.
Speaker 1 (01:15:52):
Are he knows a playing Miami and then it gets
like to negative fifty degrees. That's what happens.
Speaker 6 (01:15:58):
What all we learned today, Steve, that was a game
by the way Miami a year ago that a lot
of people didn't see because it was streaming only. We
need to emphasize that Steelers at Ravens this Saturday night
is streaming only unless you're in Pittsburgh or Baltimore. You're
not going to be seeing that one live. Pittsburgh got
into that slot because they've lost four in a row,
lost last night, and then the Chargers won today to
(01:16:19):
take what had been Pittsburgh's seed. Pittsburgh has not won
a playoff game since the twenty sixteen season. As for
the late afternoon window games, yes, Las Vegas lost at home.
They were up on the Chargers ten to three second quarter.
Chargers came back to win thirty four to twenty. But
Vegas rookie tight end Brockbauers finished with one hundred twelve
receptions this season. In fact, Giants' rookie wide out Moleak
(01:16:42):
Neighbors had one hundred and nine receptions. Those are the
two highest reception totals by rookies in NFL history. Justin
Herbert had almost three hundred and fifty yards passing today
two touchdowns. The Chargers first year under Jim Harbaugh were
allowing just seventeen and a half points a game, best
in the NFL, and allowed about that today. So the
(01:17:02):
Raiders finished oh to six in the division this season.
By the way Neighbors and the Giants, a team that
had ended a ten game losing streak last weekend. They
lost at Philly today, even though the Eagles were sitting starters,
so the Giants finish oh to six in their division.
For the Chargers, this win gives them the five seed,
gives them the chance to open at the worst of
the division champs. They're at Houston Saturday afternoon, and yes,
(01:17:25):
that puts Pittsburgh at Baltimore on Saturday night. As for
the Chiefs, they were shut out for the first time
ever under Andy Reid. Last time Kansas City had been
shut out by anyone was twenty twelve. Case had already
clinched the one seed in the AFC sat starters, and
they were down at Denver twenty four nothing at the half.
Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
They were embarrassing.
Speaker 6 (01:17:44):
Bo Nick started eighteen of eighteen passing a rookie repiz.
He finished with four TD passes twenty six of twenty
nine for three hundred twenty yards. This about Kansas City season.
The Chiefs did not score over thirty points in any
game and yet had the best record fifteen to two.
Speaker 3 (01:18:03):
After today, Denver was number one.
Speaker 6 (01:18:05):
In the league in sacks. For the defense, Denver was
allowing only about nineteen points a game top five in
the league, pitched to shut out against the backups. Here
in fact, the Chiefs only had five first downs. Denver
had five touchdowns. That's what a blowout it was Denver
with twenty nine first down.
Speaker 1 (01:18:21):
No hope whatsoever, not even what seven nothing. It was so.
Speaker 3 (01:18:25):
Grumpy tonight man.
Speaker 6 (01:18:27):
The Dolphins only way they could make the playoffs was
with a win and the Broncos loss, and the Broncos
were not losing. Final yardage total was Denver four to
seventy nine to ninety eight yards of total offense for Kansas.
Speaker 1 (01:18:42):
Carson was on fire, so it would be.
Speaker 3 (01:18:44):
Broncos at Buffalo next Sunday. The Dolphins had four turnovers.
Speaker 6 (01:18:47):
By the way in the loss of the Jets thirty
two to twenty three, of those by Tyler Huntley as
quarterback to a tongue of I Looo with the hip
injury was out again. Aaron Rodgers up to five hundred
three career touchdown passes. But the Jet Jets have not
made the playoffs still since twenty ten and only one
winning season since. Jets record in Division games was five
(01:19:08):
and twenty four going back to twenty twenty until the
win over Miami.
Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
Here.
Speaker 6 (01:19:13):
Miami says it is not firing its coach, by the way,
Colts say they are not firing their head coach. Indy one.
In overtime against Jacksonville, Jonathan Taylor got literally all of
the carries thirty four carries, one hundred and seventy seven
yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Anthony Richardson was out again
with a bad back. Joe Flacco with an early touchdown pass.
Jacksonville finishes four and thirteen. Jags only had nine takeaways
(01:19:36):
all season, worst in the league. None Today. New England
ended a six game losing streak beating Buffalo twenty three sixteen,
while Tennessee lost at sixth straight lost at home to
Houston twenty three fourteen. The Titans will draft number one overall.
Cleveland selects number two, the Giants number three.
Speaker 2 (01:19:54):
Great stuff, Steve, All right, boy, we're cooking here on
a Sunday. We show you a Monday morning deep our
hour is what we call it is coming up next
plus uh.
Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
What do we learn?
Speaker 1 (01:20:06):
What we learn?
Speaker 2 (01:20:06):
Arenieh after Week eighteen of the National Football League, All

com the way tire buying should be. Are you still
grumpy tonight?
Speaker 1 (01:20:36):
Yeah? I'm still grumpy. I went five months thinking my
team was going to go to the super Bowl and
now we're out.
Speaker 2 (01:20:44):
Why did you still feel that way when it took
a miracle for you to make the playoffs?
Speaker 1 (01:20:49):
Well, I knew once I saw the first two minutes
of the game. Today I might gets over.
Speaker 3 (01:20:54):
It's which game?
Speaker 1 (01:20:54):
You're the Denver, Kansas City game?
Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
Well your game too?
Speaker 1 (01:20:58):
What was six nothing Miami?
Speaker 3 (01:21:01):
Did you end up winning the game?
Speaker 1 (01:21:03):
No, it didn't. See.
Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
This is why I don't think you have a leg
to stand on in this debate and join me in
disagreeing or agreeing with me, because Arnie has his army
right that will agree with him regardless. There's sheeap whatever
he says, they'll do. But you kind of gotta win
that game to have a leg to stand on here.
It's like Alabama, for it was Alabama.
Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
What can I hold on? Just two seconds?
Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
Yeah? Two seconds? The Alabama would have won its game.
Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
As meaningless as a as that Bowl game is, you
feel like they got a little bit more of a
leg to stand on about being left out of the playoffs, right,
a little bit more? Not much. You guys got beat
by the freaking Jets. I don't think you get to
complain about anything that happened between Kansas City and Denver.
Speaker 1 (01:21:43):
We tapped out. If it was winning, you're in, Tyreek
Hill wouldn't have been missing, am I A Tua would
have played, It would have been a whole different story.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
To it didn't play whenever, Like it was known before
it was known that the.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
Chiefs weren't playing their starters.
Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
Right, it was atout period, I mean like a midweek
What are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (01:22:05):
If it was win and you're in, regardless of what
the Chiefs were gonna do, then two it probably would
have played.
Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
Why wouldn't he play period?
Speaker 1 (01:22:15):
Well, because he knew that the Broncos were gonna win.
Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
Oh my gosh, dude, you.
Speaker 1 (01:22:19):
Hasn't been on a milk carton for two weeks now.
He's been hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:22:23):
What do you want?
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
He's hurt.
Speaker 2 (01:22:25):
He's always hurt, and you refuse to listen to anyone
on this refuse listen. Here's another thing too. I'm with
money line bet on this. You claimed you could it
ninety percent if you just picked winners.
Speaker 1 (01:22:35):
Right, pretty much? Yes, exactly?
Speaker 3 (01:22:37):
All right? All right, So here's the deal.
Speaker 2 (01:22:38):
How much does it cost to get into the survivor
pool Survivor pool at Circus Sports.
Speaker 1 (01:22:42):
I'm not sure how I'll have to ask, Bernie. I'm
not sure how much it costs now.
Speaker 3 (01:22:46):
I'm gonna. I'm gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
I'm gonna put up your entry fee. Okay, right, because
if you're this good, this is guaranteed money.
Speaker 1 (01:22:53):
What do you what? Do you know what the winning
one was for.
Speaker 3 (01:22:56):
One point seven eight million dollars? Do you know what?
Speaker 1 (01:22:59):
You know what the person will one, the one that
won the fourteen point three million, you know what they did?
Speaker 2 (01:23:04):
I just said the winning cut was one point seven
eight million. I didn't know there was fourteen MILLI you
can make off.
Speaker 1 (01:23:09):
Yeah, it was fourteen million. It was split among five teams.
All five teams win twenty and oh. So it's not
all that tough, Chris, Okay, So here's not all that tough.
They're going one hundred percent and they can only use
one team once.
Speaker 3 (01:23:23):
All right, here you go.
Speaker 1 (01:23:24):
Okay, then if it's this easy for that easy, Chris,
that easy.
Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
I am posting your entry yeah all right, yeah, and
we'll come up with a way to split it. Okay,
But when you get eliminated, I want double your entry feedback. Wow,
toughid you know what?
Speaker 1 (01:23:38):
I'll just split the entry fee with you, and then
you can split the millions of dollars I win for
you because I want to help you out, buddy. How
about that?
Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
Well, I don't need help. I want to have you.
You know, need a couple of mil picks. You don't
need a couple of min We're not gonna win a
couple of mil, aren't it. Your picks are not that good.
Speaker 2 (01:23:54):
You became the steaking genius because you called a Nebraska
upset twenty five years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
If not long, but.
Speaker 1 (01:24:01):
Usually my pixel right on. I had a bad year
this year, which means next year I'm going to be
on fire fire. I say, put your money where your
mouth is, aren't he?
Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (01:24:13):
I already made the bet between I took Arizona to
my New York His one bet and ge riding on
that one.
Speaker 3 (01:24:22):
No, no, no, you don't have g you put like
fifty bucks on it? All right? Did win? Right? So
hey again? My point is in an era where you
live in it, you could download an app and bet
on all these games and place.
Speaker 1 (01:24:35):
You know what, if you don't want to go partners
with me, I'll just take one of the listeners to
go partners with me, like money Gone bet says he'll
he'll go partners with me. I'll do it with him.
Speaker 3 (01:24:43):
Oh my gosh, buddy, that's the tweet I will do.
Speaker 1 (01:24:46):
You know that. I know you read that. I said,
I'll just do it with him. Then instead of go ahead, then.
Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
You guys go do it together and whenever you you
you bow out, then maybe you'll pay him his part
of the entry.
Speaker 3 (01:24:58):
Feef twenty and oh buddy, and oh I'll cut my
arm off if you go twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:25:03):
And oh couple of twe Why would you say that
there's five teams that.
Speaker 3 (01:25:07):
Went twenty and oh five teams? Yeah, because I don't
think you're very good at picking games.
Speaker 1 (01:25:14):
You're never good at it. It's not against the spread, McFly.
Speaker 3 (01:25:17):
I don't think you're good at picking money line bats
because I had one bad year out of the twelve
years we've had the show together.
Speaker 2 (01:25:24):
Arnie, mighty to be honest with yourself eleven years. Be
honest with yourself. Yeah, you're not good at picking games.
Speaker 1 (01:25:31):
You're just not you sell like my wife, you're not
getting picky.
Speaker 2 (01:25:34):
I imagine the people that are around you and talk
to you the most are trying to speak some truth
to you. Now go to the two people that will
try to fight me on Twitter and have them tell
you how great your picks are.
Speaker 3 (01:25:46):
Where where he is? All to those people, by the way,
I do too.
Speaker 2 (01:25:49):
A couple of other tweets that I wanted to get
to Jason B. Diamond Wrights are the Browns the biggest disappointment, Arnie,
Like you were saying because last year three and fourteen
some have them not only making the playoffs but going
further this year. Oh yeah, because Deshaun Watson was back
in healthy.
Speaker 3 (01:26:05):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:26:05):
What did you say was the over under win total
eight and a half for them?
Speaker 3 (01:26:08):
Half? Yeah, eight and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
That's that's that's gonna be one of the top three
in falling short of your over under total. There no
doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (01:26:16):
Let me look real quick, because I was there was
a couple of them that really surprised me by how
high and then how low?
Speaker 1 (01:26:23):
Would you say? The Cowboys were supporting two for seven
and ten?
Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
Uh, let me see where they're over under was nine and.
Speaker 1 (01:26:31):
A half, right, and Skip Bayless thought they were going
to be nine and eight even Well.
Speaker 2 (01:26:35):
Skip, Skip Bayless? How do you follow Skip anymore? What's
he on? I mean, I know you love him? Yeah, okay, yeah,
I would say I would say your Dolphins are right
around where everyone thought they would be. They're over under
was seven and half. The Saints are a pretty big
dis boy. They had the Saints solicit at nine and
a half here. I don't remember they're over under being
that high. I thought it was like eight and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:26:57):
Wow. I don't remember it being that high either that either.
Speaker 2 (01:27:02):
Yeah, this has had to have been adjusted at some point,
because there's no way in the preseason that the commander
has had an over under at seven and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:27:11):
Right, No one thought that the Bears a little bit
of a disappointment. Let's see here.
Speaker 2 (01:27:18):
Well, yeah, because what did everyone what did everyone tell
us in the preseason? There's never been a number one
overall pick that's going into a situation better than what
Caleb Williams is going in. He's got a star wide receiver,
and he's got a top ten pick on the wide receiver,
and all these things that they had going for them.
They just forgot about the offensive line. Their number was
(01:27:40):
seven and a half in the preseason.
Speaker 1 (01:27:42):
Okay, not too bad, not too bad at.
Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
All, Nick writes, brock Purty system quarterback, maybe so. But
is Sam Darnold in a system quarterback too? And is
the only system he's gonna work in Kevin O'Connell's system
in Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (01:28:02):
No, I don't think that's gonna happen. Look, he had
a great year. I'm wondering if he's more like a
one hit wonder like you said, And you know he'll
go back to his old ways after this year.
Speaker 2 (01:28:12):
I think so too. By the way, Gunner was cracking
me up on Twitter when he basically called out all
the here's the thing. I love that the Vikings are good.
I love it right. I think I think they're a
fun team. Their fans are so obnoxious on social media
it really truly is.
Speaker 3 (01:28:29):
And now it.
Speaker 2 (01:28:30):
Said, well, this isn't the year that we were supposed
to be good. Just wait till next year when we
get JJ McCarthy out there Gunner rights. I told all
Vikings fans Sam Darnold would fall apart when it matters.
I know that because I'm a Panthers fan.
Speaker 1 (01:28:42):
Wow. Well, by the way, the Vikings announced they're not
going to trade JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 3 (01:28:47):
I didn't never think that was a thing to begin with.
Speaker 1 (01:28:50):
I didn't either. I don't know why they had to
feel like they had to come out and say that,
but I guess they felt like there were so many
rumors out there they had to make an announced.
Speaker 2 (01:28:56):
Well, I'll tell you why. I don't think they released
a statement or I think soone asked him about it.
Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
And oh, good by bad. I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
I don't think that they had some statement they released
out on it. But yeah, I listen, Sam Darnald played
poorly today. I don't think it's an indictment on his season.
But it's just the bottom line more than anything else
is Minnesota now has to turn around and go to
La play the Rams. Meanwhile, the Lions get another week off,
so the Minisoda Lions is that's good?
Speaker 1 (01:29:25):
And you think Minnesota's gonna keep Sam Donald you said, right,
or do yeah, I mean listen to get rid of McCarthy.
Then thought, oh, they don't. Well you can't, you can't
give You could give Sam Donald a three year contract, or.
Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
Give the three year contract, you get a franchise, tag
him if you want, if you want to keep around,
you tag him, and you wait another year to see
McCarthy developed. So listen, according to according to everyone that
apparently is a fan of the Vikings, they saw something
in JJ McCarthy last year with the Michigan that I
didn't see, right, listen, congratulations they won a national championship,
But there was maybe what one game when he was
(01:29:59):
that dude, and I know he had a nice preseason game,
but it was against the Raiders, So I don't know.
I mean, I hope they're fine, just for the sake
of y'all's mental well being.
Speaker 3 (01:30:10):
With as much gas as you guys have talked.
Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
But in that same vein Arnie, you've got kind of
a proven commodity here with Sam darneld in what he's
been able to do in this offense. So, I mean, listen,
I was part of a team that made him not
part of a team, but I covered a team that
made a move in a roundabout way to say, hey,
we got a young guy here, we're going to give
a shot, and the veteran guy moved on and it
didn't work.
Speaker 3 (01:30:32):
So how does he think he work?
Speaker 1 (01:30:33):
How does he think he's going to be a free
agent that they could just give him the franchise tag?
Speaker 3 (01:30:37):
Don't know, don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:30:39):
I don't know if they're going to give him that
opportunity or not, because I think he would be a
very valuable commodity on the free agent market because you
have quarterback hungry teams right that would constantly pay for
a guy like Sam Darneld.
Speaker 3 (01:30:52):
I've told you this.
Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
I feel like this is in every off season conversation
that we have anymore, Arnie. But I think this offseason
is going to be why held on the quarterback market?
Speaker 1 (01:31:01):
By the way, did we rediscover a quarterback that's been
missing and had a pretty good game? Or no?
Speaker 3 (01:31:08):
Bryce Young or Jimmy No, Jimmy G over three.
Speaker 1 (01:31:11):
Hundred yards and look, I know what it is.
Speaker 3 (01:31:15):
What it is.
Speaker 1 (01:31:15):
Seattle was trying to win that game, but Gino wanted
to hit his incentives, his bonuses. Jimmy G showed that
he could still be a starter in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:31:24):
I thought, so, Yeah, that's why you're never going to
be a general manager. Wow, you're telling me that you
you would be based on when was the last game
Jimmy Garoppolo had started on today?
Speaker 3 (01:31:37):
Three years ago?
Speaker 1 (01:31:38):
You said the same thing about Sam Darnold. I'm sure
about Oh, it's a lot of time.
Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
So you're gonna tell me that you would take Jimmy
g today as your starting quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:31:49):
For one year stopgap if I if you've I'm the Raiders.
I'd rather have it missed my quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:31:53):
We did that?
Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
What are you talking about O'Connell? And no, I'd rather
have an O'Connell than Jimmy g can. He can't stay healthy.
Speaker 3 (01:32:01):
He can't. And what you saw today.
Speaker 1 (01:32:03):
Is regular Today.
Speaker 2 (01:32:05):
You are so drunk on one performance for a lot
of quarterbacks. Man, you do this all the time. You
want to give him long term deals based on one
good Are you ready to sign Marcus Mario?
Speaker 3 (01:32:13):
It's deal.
Speaker 1 (01:32:15):
It's not by preseason hall of fame, it's my Week
eighteen meaningless game hall of fame. Then I guess is
what it is.
Speaker 2 (01:32:20):
Yeah, put Joshua Dobbs in there. He threw it for
three hundred and twenty six yards today. Yes, you want
him the pastor or not. Everyone thought he was great
last year. You want to sign him to a long
term deal. I mean, Spencer Rattler actually looked pretty good.
I was about to bring that up later. What about
Tanner McKee? You want to make him your starting quarterback
in Philly? Now they've won the two games that he's
coming and play. Come on, dude, Joe Milton looked amazing
(01:32:43):
for the New England Patriots. Just think if he was
their starting quarterback call year long. Think about who they're
going up against two man. Nobody's playing anyone at this
point in the season. Let's see Vincent, right. So the
forty nine ers should keep Brock and sign him to
at least a deal for the next two years at
thirty to thirty five million. Start drafting offensive lineman because
the backups they have are bad and undisciplined.
Speaker 3 (01:33:05):
Too many penalties this year.
Speaker 1 (01:33:06):
Well thank you for that, but you're not a Brock's agent.
He wouldn't take two years of thirty to thirty five
million each year. That's not going to happen. So I
thank you for the offer, though Julian when they just
make these offers, just give him twenty million a year
and then get it done with.
Speaker 2 (01:33:23):
You pretty much do the same thing. I'm not gonna
give him, miss I'll give you this, but not that.
Speaker 3 (01:33:30):
Well, I'm not giving him fifty.
Speaker 1 (01:33:31):
Million of ye, I'm not giving him fifty million a year. Hey,
Collins said the same thing.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
Boy, you love absolutely crediting your takes to other people.
Speaker 3 (01:33:40):
They're just no, they took it for me. I'm pretty
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I was saying, you're copying off him.
Speaker 2 (01:33:47):
Julian rights areny Regarding the car forty nine er quarterback situation,
who do you get Look what happened all the other
quarterbacks the Niners had none of them deliver the goods. Also,
can we really put everything on brock party They lost
another extensive player to injury in McCaffrey. One more thing,
every time the forty nine ers draft or acquire a quarterback,
they have rolled snake eyes. They must sign Brock Purty.
(01:34:10):
Maybe not fifty mil. But you've got to sign him.
Maybe not Kyler Murray.
Speaker 1 (01:34:15):
Maybe not fifty mil. Well, good luck to that. You
don't have the choice of that. By the way, you
just brought up Kyler Murray. I like him. I would
make him my starting quarterback if I was looking for
a started quarterback in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:34:27):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (01:34:27):
Absolutely, Now be careful, big Ben Maller might hear you
right now. Curse words about talking good about Ury around
really yeah, very.
Speaker 3 (01:34:36):
Anti Kyler Murray.
Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
Very like fighting words if you say something wow Kyler
around him?
Speaker 3 (01:34:42):
And two more here quickly.
Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
Nature Boy writes the Chargers actually have a good shot
at winning a playoff game minus Brandon Staley, who is
now the assistant manager in San Francisco. I think I
see a pattern. Yeah, I don't even know what Staley
does with the forty nine ers. He stands around is
what I see him do every single time.
Speaker 3 (01:35:00):
But I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:35:01):
I think the Chargers are going to go in up
Houston and give the Texans under two.
Speaker 1 (01:35:04):
I'm gonna pick the Chargers, and now with the right
yet three point favorite.
Speaker 3 (01:35:08):
In the Chargers are three point favorite in that game.
Speaker 1 (01:35:11):
Yes, looking at the runs.
Speaker 3 (01:35:12):
Yeah, next week wow.
Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
And then one more uh, this one from Bake, who
writes for the Vikings to progress in the playoffs. O'Connell
will have to remember that he has Aaron Jones and
cam Akers on his team. Yeah, I was gonna look
at the throw to run ratio and granted, the Vikings
fell behind a little bit in this game, so they
couldn't run the ball as much. Yeah, six carries for
(01:35:35):
sixty five yards for cam Aker Acres tonight off Aaron Joins.
Speaker 1 (01:35:41):
Yeah, Akers had like a fifty two yard run in
one of his.
Speaker 2 (01:35:44):
Carries fifty eight fifty eight. Yeah, so let's see one
carry fifty eight yards. Five carries for seven. Maybe it
wasn't as good as we thought, but as a team,
they averaged six point three yards per carry. They threw
the ball forty one times, ranted just nineteen, So not
not the optimal run to pass ratio for the Vikings. Today,
Lions won that game thirty one to nine. Coming up
(01:36:05):
in about ten minutes from now to Sega has a
full scoreboard update from all the games today. But when
we come back, let's talk about what we learned in
week eighteen as we say audios to the regular season
and prepare for the postseason. Right here on Fox Sports Radio,
all right, it's Arni and Plant Company. You live from
the tire rack dot Com Studios. That's Alreadie Span your
find them on Twitter. It's stinking Geniu Swan. I'm Chris
(01:36:27):
Planking and find me at Plank Show and don't forget
Even though we're not on the air. After the show,
you can still listen to us because the podcast will
be posted as soon as we're done. Search Fox Sports
Radio wherever you get your podcast, and be sure to
follow rate review say something nice about Arnie again. Just
search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your pods, and
(01:36:49):
you'll see us right after we get off the air.
You want to dive into what you learned from not
just Week eighteen, but the NFL season.
Speaker 3 (01:36:57):
This would be what Roman numeral five.
Speaker 1 (01:37:00):
Right, right, Roman numero five. Now that the season's over,
what not just for Week eight team, but what you
are arm for the entire season? And I'll start. The
AFC South is the worst division of all time. It's
just it's just even with the Texans, even with the Texas,
it's this interesting. It is a horrible division. I never
like to watch any of the teams on TV when
(01:37:21):
they show it. There's a reason why the Texans playing
the ugly Slot or whatever you want to call it,
the early game on Saturday, because no, you don't want
to put it in the primetime slot. It's just the worst division.
It's just horrible. I hate watching it.
Speaker 3 (01:37:36):
This season.
Speaker 2 (01:37:36):
I learned that people want us to forget about certain
teams losses, like let me use the Bengals for example.
And nobody wants Cincinnati to get into the playoffs. Nobody
wants to deal with him. Really, the same team that
couldn't get out of its own way. And you know,
(01:37:57):
the same team that again started the season incredibly poorly
like they always do. They started one and four, right,
I mean, we're acting like they're absolute world beaters when
they needed overtime at home to slip by Denver two
weeks ago. And I don't want to get too kidd
away here, but struggled a bit with a Tennessee team
that now has the number one pick in the draft,
(01:38:18):
barely beat Dallas.
Speaker 3 (01:38:20):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
Joe Burrow had an incredible year. Arnie deserves conversations about
the MVP. Yes, they won their final five games, but only.
Speaker 1 (01:38:29):
What six games?
Speaker 2 (01:38:30):
Yeah, they won their final five games of this season,
that's okay. They won five straight games to wrap the
season up. And yeah, they beat Denver in overtime. They
went to Pittsburgh and beat them in another ugly game.
That if Pittsburgh could get their head out of their
backside and they win that game, I like them a lot,
but I don't think anybody was going into this final
week of the season fearing them, And I just know
(01:38:52):
I like them. If Cincinnati can find a way to
start the season, better look out. But they weren't a
good football team this year. They had offense, they were
terrible defensively. So met on Cincinnati this year, met on
Burrow's MVP chances. You got to be in the playoffs
to be an MVP consideration.
Speaker 1 (01:39:11):
In my opinion, this team mustn't even met But I'm never, ever, ever, ever,
ever ever picking the Dallas Cowboys again, enough is enough.
As long as you have Dak Prescott as your quarterback,
I'm not picking you to win the division. I'm not
picking you to go to the playoffs. I'm not picking
you to win a Super Bowl. I'm not picking you
to nothing other than being a top ten draft pick
(01:39:31):
because you're not winning anything. Disappointment this year, I know
that got hurt. But you never scared anybody. You never
were a team like, Oh my goodness, here come the Cowboys.
People like to watch them as you're the Cowboys. But
other than that, you're just you were just a fake
team this year. You were you were nothing. You were
just like playing. You're just vanilla this year.
Speaker 3 (01:39:51):
Is it? Do you give them a pass at all?
With Dax injury?
Speaker 1 (01:39:54):
No, because the whole team, I mean yeah, cdee Lamb
was good, but the running situation, even though Batto was
good at the end of the year, it just it
just had no big names. Nobody does scare yet Nobody's
like we got to. I mean, Micah pars is good,
but I mean still, I mean even slipped at the
end of the year. It just it just wasn't a
big name team that scared you like years past.
Speaker 3 (01:40:16):
Do you bring McCarthy back, Yeah, I guess I do.
Speaker 2 (01:40:19):
I mean, you got to get him a new contract
because his contract expires, so you don't even have to
talk about firing him.
Speaker 1 (01:40:25):
Right right, right? I give him a new two year deal.
Does that work? And I give him two years or no?
Speaker 3 (01:40:29):
I don't know what coaches deals are usually three year contracts.
Speaker 1 (01:40:32):
Okay, I'm getting you. So what if I fire you
after two I got to pay you pay for another
year Okay, that's only fair.
Speaker 2 (01:40:39):
I guess after this season. I know this that there
are certain teams that, regardless of what they do in
the regular season, Arnie, it doesn't matter unless.
Speaker 3 (01:40:50):
They get it done in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:40:52):
Right, I'm looking at Baltimore, right, Buffalo, you know, I'll
kind of give Kansas City a pass just because Casey's
one of the last two Super Bowl right, And I
think Detroit's kind of entered that list now, right, Eve,
though it's only been a couple of years that they're good.
In Philadelphia, you can do whatever you want in the
regular season, but nobody's really going to talk about you
(01:41:12):
unless we're talking about you taking home, not just a
trip to the super Bowl. But at this point, if
you're Buffalo, right, this window appears as if it's not
closing as quickly as we thought it would with the
move of Stefan Diggs, and.
Speaker 3 (01:41:26):
Everyone's like, oh my gosh, their defense going to be terrible.
Speaker 2 (01:41:29):
Josh Allen's been the MVP this year, or at least
up there with Lamar Jackson. But if they don't get
it done in the playoffs, no one cares. If Baltimore
doesn't get it done in the playoffs. You're gonna be
the first person here on Fox Sports Radio that says
I just don't know how good Lamar Jackson is.
Speaker 1 (01:41:41):
No, that's exactly right. I'm going to say that. And
where they were chanting MVP today? Did they hear that?
Right there? They're chanting MVP when he was playing today?
Speaker 3 (01:41:49):
Is that? Yeah? I believe who Lamar Jackson? Josh Allen, Well,
Lamar played Saturday? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:41:54):
So yeah, Saturday? Yeah, And well, why shouldn't they chant MVP?
How many yards passing to the f.
Speaker 3 (01:42:00):
Well, I mean I didn't see the total number.
Speaker 1 (01:42:02):
Seventeen that's pretty good. Oh, that's fantastic. He should be
the MVP.
Speaker 3 (01:42:07):
But how many times did they throw it?
Speaker 2 (01:42:10):
They already they won the game thirty five to ten.
Speaker 1 (01:42:14):
They played, you're throwing it about two.
Speaker 2 (01:42:17):
Hundred and seventeen yards, but whenever they ran for sixty
three and at seven yards per carry?
Speaker 3 (01:42:23):
What are you even doing?
Speaker 1 (01:42:23):
Man? I just love that they were chetting MVP. I've
very sure big v big two hundred yard pass and
give him the MVP.
Speaker 2 (01:42:30):
Okay, two hundred yards passing at his receiving yard, at
his passing rushing yards in there. Yeah, two hundred and
eighty total yards. I'll take that from my quarterback in
an MVP candidate graduate.
Speaker 3 (01:42:42):
They went, they went twelve and five. What do you even?
What's your point?
Speaker 1 (01:42:45):
You know they losing the playoffs again and we're gonna
make fun of them all over again as well.
Speaker 3 (01:42:50):
So you got the Ravens losing the Steelers next Saturday.
Speaker 1 (01:42:53):
I hope so, I really do. I mean, I'm not
a Steeler fan, but I really would like to see
the Ravens going down. I'm tired of their fans.
Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
Why what is their their fans there? I never hear
from their fans. What are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (01:43:06):
I just want them to go down because you know
what everybody talks about how great Lamar is. He's got
to do it in the playoffs, and he really hasn't.
He hasn't done it at all?
Speaker 3 (01:43:14):
Right, all right? What else where else you want to go.
Speaker 1 (01:43:17):
Now that the season's over. I've learned this Besides the
Dallas Cowboys, everybody's darling New America's team, the Washington Commanders.
Is that not true? Or what has everybody jumped on them?
Speaker 3 (01:43:30):
For?
Speaker 1 (01:43:30):
Everybody that didn't have their team in the playoffs? Is
everybody jumping on Washington's bandwagon or what seems like it. Yeah,
seems like a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:43:37):
Of people like him.
Speaker 1 (01:43:39):
Darling.
Speaker 3 (01:43:40):
Oh, you're gonna put them in the America's Darling class.
Speaker 1 (01:43:43):
Yeah, more and more so than the Detroit Lions, I
think now.
Speaker 3 (01:43:46):
I think the Lions are.
Speaker 2 (01:43:48):
Yeah, I think Campbell is. I don't think. I don't
think enough people have it truly embraced what Washington is yet.
I think most people probably don't even know that Dan
Snyder is not their owner anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:44:00):
But I think they're on that path.
Speaker 2 (01:44:02):
I learned this kickers are doing something that I don't
think we've seen and I don't know. It's made a
big difference in games. And I don't know how to
quantify it or talk about it. But in twenty twenty four,
kickers made field goals at a record eighty six percent accuracy.
Speaker 3 (01:44:20):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:44:20):
And some of the longest field goals were hit at
a record rate this season. I don't know why. I
don't know what it is. You and I have talked
about it a lot this year. It's going to end
up making the difference in the playoffs, right, I mean,
there's going to be a Minster or a Maid kick
somewhere but Arnie, I like, when did we I mean,
Brandon Aubrey becomes an absolute rock star Dallas Cowboys if
(01:44:43):
they can't kick the ball I'm watching, I'm watching a
kickoff that he just joinked some port cheerleaders, right, But
I mean, guys, Chris Boswell was at like ninety four
percent this year for the Pittsburgh Steelers. So I don't
know what it was, but I learned this year in
the NFL, you got to have yourself a good kicker,
because we're making field goals at a record rate, and
(01:45:06):
we're kicking them from distances. And I never thought we'd
be consistently making field goals from.
Speaker 1 (01:45:12):
Oh, if you're like fifty five to sixty yards, it's like,
all right, I feel like you're gonna make it. Yeah,
all right.
Speaker 2 (01:45:18):
I know we got much much more. So let's table
it until we get back after the break. Because Steve
Desager he's ready to go home. He's got one more
update for us before he heads to the house. What's
going on, Steve?
Speaker 6 (01:45:29):
One thing related to all the field goals. And yes,
it's a massive number of long field goals, which can
be very entertaining to see. But remember the NFL still
has a ton of games that are low scoring through
two three quarters and then by the end of it,
nobody remembers tonight was ten to nine late third quarter.
Nobody will remember that there are with the new kickoff rules,
(01:45:51):
more drives starting at the thirty or closer to midfield.
Your drive to get in field goal range is also
much shorter than it used to be. The goal post
back to about that, and we do have more thousand
yard rushers than we used to, although I did notice
the Troy Aikman comment this week when they said somebody
in their game, Hey, he's a thousand yard rusher again,
(01:46:12):
and quickly he said, well, that doesn't mean as much.
Speaker 3 (01:46:14):
Well, no, it doesn't mean as much.
Speaker 6 (01:46:16):
But there are thirty two teams and there were only
sixteen individuals with a thousand yards rushing this season. Now,
historically that's a lot, but it's not like it's nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:46:27):
Let's just put it that way.
Speaker 6 (01:46:30):
And then there's Jamier Gibbs one touchdown after another this
year and tonight four total tds at Detroit Lions beat
Minnesota thirty one to night one hundred and thirty nine
yards rushing for Gibbs in the game that was ten
to nine late third quarter. Uh Minnesota's nine game winning
streak is over. They'll have to play next weekend. They'll
(01:46:51):
open the postseason at the Rams in a Monday night
game on the thirteenth. Detroit clinches the NFC North with
a fifteen and two record, clinches the NFC's one seed
and therefore has next weekend off. Detroit went eleven to
one in conference. By the way, wow, number one in
total offense in the NFC over four hundred yards per game.
They were averaging thirty three points a game and got
(01:47:12):
thirty one tonight. And as far as Lamar Jackson that
you were talking about, he did have another great regular season.
It was forty one touchdown passes, four interceptions, first player
in the history of the league with at least forty
forty steeds and less than five interceptions in the same season.
Speaker 3 (01:47:30):
But in his playoff career two.
Speaker 6 (01:47:33):
And five, Baltimore scoring seventeen points or less in all
five of those playoff losses. So the Ravens have one
four in a row. They have this Saturday night's playoff
game and they're hosting, to say the least, a slumping
Steelers team that has dropped four in a row and
dropped down in the standings because of it. Ravens Pro
Bowl wide receivers Za Flowers, Let's not forget left Saturday's
(01:47:55):
game with the knee injury, will get an up debt
this week. On that one, the Seattle beat the Rams
in LA thirty to twenty five. Gino Smith four touchdown passes,
including the game winner with about three minutes left. The
Seahawks went seven and one on the road this year.
Rams could have clinched the three seed with a win,
but instead they had clinched the division title last week
and Sat starters today had lost a close one finished
(01:48:17):
ten and seven, so the Rams will have to play Minnesota,
a fourteen to three team. By the way, Minnesota with
that record three losses. They lost twice to Detroit and
they lost at the Rams on a Thursday night game.
It was thirty to twenty. Rams lead was twenty one
to twenty with six and a half minutes to go.
We get Rams hosting Minnesota a week from tomorrow night.
(01:48:40):
Denver got the last playoff spot in the AFC, shutting
out Kansas City thirty eight nothing. Bo Nick's four touchdown
passes Broncos at Buffalo next Sunday, Jets and Arizona each one.
Houston beat Tennessee, while New England was a winner over Buffalo.
Patriots fired coach Gerrodmeo fired offensive coordinator Alex van Pelt.
By the way, the Browns, who lost yesterday, fired offensive
(01:49:02):
coordinator Ken Dorsey. The Titans will draft number one overall
at April. Cleveland will select number two, the Giants select third,
and then the Patriots at number four. Washington won its
fifth straight with a late TD at Dallas. Washington clinches
the sixth seed. It'll play at Tampa Bay next Sunday night.
The Bucks earlier got to come back win over New
Orleans to clinch the NFC South for a fourth straight year.
(01:49:23):
The Bucks offense this year was averaging four hundred yards
per game about thirty points per game. Baker Mayfield has
already had success against this opponent he's rematching against.
Speaker 3 (01:49:33):
We'll see.
Speaker 6 (01:49:34):
Chicago kicked a fifty one yard field goal on the
final play to end a ten game losing streak and
win at Green Bay and the Cold twenty four to twenty.
Carolina won in overtime, Indy one in overtime Philadelphia got
a victory NBA Oklahoma City when it's fifteenth straight. Cleveland
won its tenth in a row, Houston held on to
beat the Lakers in a late game, and in college
(01:49:54):
hoops it was eleventh rank Yukon eighty seven eighty four
over Providence.
Speaker 2 (01:49:58):
Back to you, thanks Steve, great stuff tonight. Next we'll
see you next Sunday night. Of course, by next Sunday night, Arnie,
I know your picks are coming up here in a bit.
Not about to spoil them because obviously that's what everyone
came for. But we'll know the final two teams in
the National Championship Game for the college football playoffs, and
we'll have all but one of the NFL playoff games
(01:50:20):
wrapped up. So busy week coming up in the sports world.
I wanted to add a couple of more things. Yeah,
to what we learned and kind of what we took
away from twenty twenty four into twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (01:50:33):
I'll say this.
Speaker 2 (01:50:34):
I know that you disagree with this usually, but I
think this season was a magnification more than any that
you do. You got to have a rock star quarterback
Josh Allen and Buffalo Lamar Jackson, regardless of value feel
about him in Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (01:50:50):
CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:50:51):
Stroud has struggled a bit, but he's a star. I
could go to Mahomes or you saw what happened to
Philadelphia once hurt Scott hurt. Jared Goff has developed into it.
Baker is Matt Stafford is all the division winners on.
He when everyone's like, oh, you can go cheap at
the quarterback position, really you can't.
Speaker 3 (01:51:08):
You just can't. You got to invest in it.
Speaker 2 (01:51:10):
Obviously, Minnesota had quite a run with a less than
instellar option. But what's your ultimate goal just to make
the playoffs or to go to the super Bowl?
Speaker 1 (01:51:17):
Yeah, you can't go cheap. But yet again, though Pittsburgh
didn't have really the superstar quarterback in their team.
Speaker 3 (01:51:25):
And where are they right now?
Speaker 1 (01:51:27):
Right? They're gonna make the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:51:28):
They are losers of four in a row and five
of their last seton.
Speaker 1 (01:51:31):
And Minnesota, that's true. And Minnesota didn't have a rock
start that position either when they started.
Speaker 2 (01:51:37):
And I just said that, what's your ultimate goal just
to get by and make the playoffs? So you mentioned
two right, I mentioned eight right. I just I feel
like it's it can't be magnified enough you could talk
about defense wins championships and at the core of it,
you might be right, But slim and few are the
Super Bowl winning teams that didn't have a true elite
(01:52:01):
rock star, elite quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:52:02):
It just it's it's not a regular thing.
Speaker 1 (01:52:05):
But then again, and look, I think he's been phenomenal
because he's led the NFL and touch on passes the
last two years. But somebody like Baker Mayfield was not
an elite rock star.
Speaker 3 (01:52:16):
Where was he picked number one? Though?
Speaker 1 (01:52:18):
So?
Speaker 2 (01:52:19):
Now who was the quarterback the last time the Browns
actually were relevant?
Speaker 1 (01:52:23):
It was him? Yes, it was him.
Speaker 2 (01:52:25):
So I again, I'm a Baker Mayfield homer and the
Browns fans that wanted him gone so badly. I think
you guys can basically taste your medicine right now.
Speaker 1 (01:52:35):
They turned it around, right, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:52:38):
No, I just I think he is truly in that
group of guys that are kind of rock star.
Speaker 1 (01:52:41):
Ish the You may be right on that, maybe i'm
but again.
Speaker 2 (01:52:44):
Like I said, I'm an unabashed homer for him, So
I lose all objectivity whenever I talk about him.
Speaker 3 (01:52:48):
And then I.
Speaker 2 (01:52:50):
Really came to this determination this year Arnie and I
don't know if you agree or not. I really don't
care who's calling football games.
Speaker 3 (01:52:56):
I don't care.
Speaker 1 (01:52:56):
Yeah, I don't care.
Speaker 3 (01:52:57):
I don't care at all.
Speaker 2 (01:52:59):
And Fox tried to. I am it down our throats
all year long about Tom Brady. Tom Brady. Here he's
walking with Tom Brady in a Bucks uniform and Tom
Brady and a Patriots uniform. They handing the microphone and
it's Tom Brady. I couldn't care less who's calling a game.
I'll say, Monday Night football. I feel like Joe Buck
and Troy Aikman give it a bigger feel, but I
rarely find myself listening all that much.
Speaker 1 (01:53:20):
No, I'm just.
Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
Don't roll.
Speaker 1 (01:53:25):
Uh oh fight. Brady's coming back to the NFL next year.
We had those fifty to one odds that used at me.
I really think he may play in the NFL next year.
Speaker 2 (01:53:35):
All right, when we come back to the Tirack dot
Com studios, it's what you all came for tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:53:40):
It's Arnie's pick. Let's go, and it's taking us home
right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:53:46):
Big Grian Malor coming up next here on Fox Sports Radio.
But we got a little work to do. It's aarreny
in plank heading into the first full work week of
twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (01:53:57):
Any big plans this week?
Speaker 1 (01:53:58):
Sticking genius or no, no, no, finally get a full
week off. No fill ins, no nothing, party time so no, nothing, nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:54:08):
What does party time look like to you?
Speaker 2 (01:54:10):
Just out of curiosity using all of your dressings and
your salad dressing, they're all gone.
Speaker 1 (01:54:15):
Yeah, I have nothing like that, so they're all very
upset about that. I love that stuff, and now I
can't eat any I can't have salad without solid dressing.
My wife made it, earned solid dressing. It tastes like garbage.
Speaker 2 (01:54:29):
Got three tweets before we get to your picksure right now? Yeah,
Michael writes from a Dallas guy born in the nineties
and raised respectfully. It's not that you shouldn't pick the
Cowboys while Dak is the quarterback, Garny, it's while Jerry
is in charge.
Speaker 3 (01:54:44):
Full stop.
Speaker 2 (01:54:45):
Also late, thanks for y'all's great New Year's Eve show,
Happy New Year, A New Year's Eve show.
Speaker 1 (01:54:51):
We did Jerry. Jerry came out and said today that
once again he won't be giving up the GM duty.
So you got them for another year.
Speaker 2 (01:54:59):
What's the what's the joke that Bob Bob sterm always
has he wants to make the shirts. Jerry the GM
or Jerry the owner should fire Jerry the GM JTGM.
Speaker 3 (01:55:11):
You heard that whenever you were in Dallas back.
Speaker 1 (01:55:13):
Yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (01:55:15):
Darryl Wrights, what I learned from this NFL season Darnold
will turn into a pumpkin next week as well. I
could see the nerves from my couch since he will
never do the right thing, so they won't win. And last,
but not least, Arnie was wrong with just about everything.
Speaker 1 (01:55:31):
Wow, what it was? The wrong about everything?
Speaker 2 (01:55:32):
And four is going to the super Bowl against the Cowboys.
I was wrong about that, Gunny Rights. If you listen
to the to Arnie and Plank on Sunday nights, do
the opposite of Arnie's picks.
Speaker 3 (01:55:43):
Get ready to take notes. They're about to roll.
Speaker 1 (01:55:45):
Did you do the opposite when I went seven to zero?
How did that work for you?
Speaker 2 (01:55:48):
As good as the opposite whenever you went like two
and twelve? Oh, okay, make up for it all right,
take it away, stinking genius. Where do you want to start?
Speaker 1 (01:55:56):
We're gonna do college. We're gonna start with college. We're
gonna start with Thursday's game. We're gonna take Penn State
plus the two against Notre Dame. I think that's like
the best bet of the board. Love me some Penn
State in that offense, they should crush the Irish of
Notre Da. Man, I'm gonna take Ohio State lay in
the six against Texas. I think they routed Texas won't
(01:56:17):
even be a close game. I'm wouldn't take the Chargers
minus to three on the road against the Texans, who
will roll over like the dogs that they really are.
And I'm gonna take Pittsburgh plus the nine and a
half against the Ravens. Way too many points. Baltimore has
a problem in the playoffs, and you know, I'm loving
(01:56:38):
me some Steelers to turn it around once the playoffs begin.
And that's just.
Speaker 3 (01:56:45):
Too many points, Chris, Just just too many points. Yeah,
you're counting on the Steelers turning it around. Yeah, you've
destroyed them all year long. You may know that of
Mike Tomlin and now you're doing a one to eighty. Yeah,
it's playoff time.
Speaker 2 (01:56:58):
When the two Arnie Burner accounts get mad at me
because they think we bully, it's too many points. Nine
and a half twenty was too many for the Ravens
against the Browns on Saturday, and they covered.
Speaker 1 (01:57:10):
Too many points Chris nine and a half. Right, I'm
gonna take the Bills mnus not against the Broncos. Hopefully
they'll crush the Broncos and show you what true garbage
they really are. I also like Philadelphia minus the four
and a half against Green Bay. I don't buy into
this Green Bay slop like everybody else is doing out there.
And I'm gonna take Washington plus the three and a
(01:57:31):
half against Tampa Bay. That may be my upset special.
Love me some Washington Commanders and the Monday night game.
I'm all over the Rams plus the two and a
half against the Minnesota Vikings. So there you have my picks.
Do with them as you please. No longer strictly for
entertainment purposes only.
Speaker 2 (01:57:48):
I still think I would put that disclaimer on it,
just saying because you're not betting your own picks. If
you were betting your own picks, i'd say, yeah, tell
them it's no longer for entertainment purposes only.
Speaker 3 (01:57:57):
I mean, don't you worry about that?
Speaker 1 (01:57:59):
No, man, I'm putting money on this stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:58:01):
You haven't bet on a game all year long.
Speaker 1 (01:58:04):
Not true, y'all. Don't know why you keep saying that.
Speaker 2 (01:58:08):
All I ask for is receipts, because I feel like
if you're doing that and you're getting them right, you
would be the first person to beat your chest and say,
here's my picks.
Speaker 3 (01:58:17):
Look how right they were, And all I see is.
Speaker 1 (01:58:19):
Your pet like a team parlay.
Speaker 2 (01:58:24):
Hey, by the way, speaking to parlays, how about that
note that most of the money made in the in
the in the mobile wagering world is on missed parlays.
If you just straight up bet you're making money, you
go parlays, you're in big trouble.
Speaker 1 (01:58:36):
Right, Well, parlay has always been a yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:58:39):
I mean, in the end, you want to do what
makes you the most money, right, swing for the fences
all the time. All right, Listen, next week, whenever we
come back, you'll have the national championship matchup of, if
Arnie projected it correctly, Ohio State and Penn State.
Speaker 1 (01:58:55):
Yeah, now you're taking Penn State over Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (01:58:58):
Penn State's to pick over Notre Dame. Acorn Arnie, Yes,
I think it's gonna be Ohio Stateton Notre Dame. I
also think whenever we come in next week, it's gonna
be fascinating to see what the narrative is around one
of these upsets, because we're gonna get one upset in
the NFL, right, don't we always at least get one
team We're like, whoa where did they come from? You
think it might be Pittsburgh over Baltimore? Are you just
(01:59:19):
thinking to cover?
Speaker 1 (01:59:20):
I like that to cover. If I was gonna pick
the one upsote to be Washington over Tampa plus the
three and a half or to win out.
Speaker 2 (01:59:26):
Right, right before we came on the air, I from
Salam who's on with Mark Willard Ephraim said he thinks
Denver is a bad matchup for Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (01:59:35):
I agree there too, I think Buffalo is going to
crush them.
Speaker 2 (01:59:38):
So but he said, he said Denver is a bad
matchup for Buffalo. In other words, he's saying that Denver
could scare Buffalo. So in other words, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, Sorry, sorry,
I might make that clear. So is there any chance
that could be a boy if Denver beats Buffalo in
the first round?
Speaker 3 (01:59:55):
Oh no, no, that's not gonna Oh my gosh, Bill,
I don't want to beat.
Speaker 2 (01:59:59):
Well, actually, I do want to be here for Paul's
Twitter our man with the Bill's Mafia. I want to
be here for his Twitter tirade, but I just don't
think it's gonna happen. Enjoy your off week. Arenie mid
Mallar is coming up the tie shirt for the entire
crew that's already I'm playing this.
Speaker 3 (02:00:14):
Fox Sports Radio
