Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Rado.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh, let's go, stinking genius, let's go, big boy, let's go.
How are you on a Sunday night? How was your week? Good?
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Had a good week? Last night was a little crazy.
We were on the air when the game was coming
to an end. That was absolutely incredible.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
Of course, how was it? What was the experience like
in a moment where you could ruin it for another host,
like you ruin every fun moment in sports for us
by being ahead.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
I did ruin it for everybody.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
But I mean, but I have to get a pass
on this because yes, I mean because it was such
an important game and it was such a big comeback
out there.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
And let me tell you something, Chris.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
You know, usually you can feel a comeback happening, but it.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Was always even.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
Even though it was right around like seven to nine
to seven to six, with forty four seconds left, Duke
had the ball yep up by six.
Speaker 5 (00:57):
Chick, Please do not listen to him. Yesterday he got
on and he said, that was the most boring game ever.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
That game was so bad. You said this about that
game last No, no, no, no.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Let me back up. First of all, I said, he.
Speaker 6 (01:10):
Was like it so much smack about Duke and how
it wasn't.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
I said, when Duke was up by fourteen, I go,
this is boring me to tears.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Let's just finish this game.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
And then he said, and then he said, everybody thought
that it was the most boring season of college.
Speaker 6 (01:25):
Back right started, I said.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
I started getting on that though.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
I was going to go ahead and ask Todd Furman
to bet a thousand dollars on Uston to come back
and win it twenty five to one. Yeah, I was
gonna do that.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
It was Mary is literally, you're telling on yourself. People
listen more than one night a week.
Speaker 5 (01:45):
He says this, and then two minutes later it went
and goes, Oh, the game was phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
Was scoring so much? It was?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
It was a fourteen point spread at that point. It
was over there, Chris.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
And well it was also let's see, it was fourteen
with eight seventeen to go in the game, right right right,
it was fifteen with three forty forty go make it
sixteen with three forty four to go. Oh, I don't
think it ever got up to sixteen. Well six, I'm sorry, sorry, sorry,
sorry sorry six six Matthew six points with three forty
(02:17):
forty go, which you still feel pretty confident with. You
got it back up to nine how much? For three
minutes to go?
Speaker 4 (02:24):
When was the technical foul?
Speaker 2 (02:27):
That was with less than a minute left, wasn't it?
I thought it was over a minute. I thought like
a technical foul on Josh Tuggler with a minute fourteen left?
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Okay, minute fourteen, they had.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Cut it to five. It was sixty six, sixty one,
and that made it six and they had the ball.
That's right. It was sixty seven then sixty one after
they made the free throw.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Right right, And just still felt good that Duke was okay.
They they got a little.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Scare, but they're gonna hang on, you know.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Yeah, even at that point, you didn't feel like they
were gonna let it slip away. And then with forty
four seconds left, what was the scenario? Duke had the
ball and was up by six also.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
And for and then Cooper Flag went to the basket
and got a shot blocked?
Speaker 7 (03:10):
Right?
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Is that pretty much the way? No? No, it was
that did he got he got a shot blocked? That
I listen, I'm just going by the play by play here.
I have it in front of me. If you were
watching it live, all you were right right.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
It was tough because I'm trying to listen to Jason Martin.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
You know, we we we called your listen.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Just call yourself out. It's okay on you. Yeah, you're
not listening at this point. You're watching the game and
then you're blurting out everything you see.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
I'm doing like a half hour away by play and
just just doing that, and again, you know, it just
kind of snuck up on you, and then you're you're
you're watching it, and then all of a sudden, they
hit the three, they get right, they get the steal,
they missed the three, but they get the outfensive rebound
(03:56):
and slam it home and then making a one point game,
and there's still like, what twenty five seconds left or
something like.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
That, twenty five seconds left forever into what boy gave right,
especially but forever. Here's what even at one point, at
sixty seven, sixty six, with twenty five seconds left, after
Tugler made the three, Here's what makes it even more
shocking is how good Duke has consistently been this year
from the free throw line. Absolutely no team, no team
(04:25):
in this tournament. And I'm just gonna say it because
someone will go do the math and prove me wrong.
No team had a better free throw shooting percentage in
crunch time than Duke did. They popped it on the
screen like twelve times last night and Tyree's proctor missus
a free throw. Now here's the thing, here's where the
controversy comes in. Let me me get this out of
the way. We're company live for the tyrack dot Com studios.
(04:47):
Tire rack dot Com will help you get there. An
unmatched to selection, fast free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot Com
the way tire buying should be. Now, I know everyone
is losing their mind over the foul called on Cooper
flag right, and it was it was a bad call.
Did you see who got the rebound? Yeah, it was
(05:08):
it was Houston. It was still Houston got the rebound right.
It got the rebound right. It's kind of one of
those things to where you know, was it was it
a bad call? Fine? I mean, like for me, I
think you and I feel the same way on this,
Like he bodied him and that's part of boxing out.
Speaker 8 (05:23):
I was.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Okay if they called the foul I was okay if
they didn't call a foul, but he went up with
the basketball.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
It was still Houston, so you still rebound.
Speaker 7 (05:33):
Now.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
The only thing is I saw.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
It immediately were Cooper Flag kind of didn't hold onto
the guy's arm, Right, the guy did a bad job
boxing out Cooper Flag. You're right.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
You probably just let it go and just let the
clock run.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Hey, did we watch the same box out? What do
you mean think you think he did a bad job
boxing him out? Yeah? I did.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
I mean he yeah, he let him reach over a
little bit, but he really didn't out.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
How do you how do you avoid that whenever he's
got like two inches on you? I mean it's I
thought he did a great job of the box out,
and he drew the foul an event and hit the
ball ended up in his guy's hands. But that's that's
not the point. You didn't have a problem with the
foul call.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
No, I didn't have a problem with the foul call.
Of course, I watched it a million times. People were
sending it like it was a meme and just that
one part over And.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
What did they never point out? What did they never
point out? They never pointed out that Houston ended up
with the basketball anyway, No one ever did that.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
You saw that because it got deflected and the guy
behind it ended up picking it up. Though I wonder
if Cooper Flag would have gotten it if they didn't
call the foul.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Well, it was already away from him. It was already
that the dude had it. It was such a late whistle.
The guy had it in his hands by the time
the whistle blew.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
I'm about ninety five percent sure Houston would have had it.
You know, I can't say for sure.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Oh you know what, I'm one hundred percent sure Houston
would have had it. That's watching live into brutal filming it.
I'm one hundred percent sure they were gonna have that rebound.
And then to have a guy go drain two free
throws that was a fifty one percent free throw shooter
basically for his career, fifty last year, fifty seven percent
(07:17):
for his career. Good.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
Even if you were a Duke fan at that point,
you're like, he's not.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Gonna make it. You got to make it.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
No way, no way is this guy gonna go ahead
and drain two.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
The guy had worse for him than I did. I
no way no way is he.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Hitting two and he just drains both of them and
just boom boom right there.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Wow. So just again to recap things, Mary Arnie was
complaining about the game, telling you how terrible it was
until the final forty second it.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Was more about the whole tournament.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
But yeah, I was like, well, look, Duke's gonna win,
so let's just put them in the next round.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
I already counted out as a win.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
I thought I was gonna win the contest for the
uh for the contest we have here. Well, see, here's
a great thing. Is is somebody who was about to
go back to back the thing that is you don't
get anything. You get bragging rights, and that's it. You
just copied my picks and then change it at.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
The end like you do every year.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Right, So let me just go ahead and say, why
would I want to copy your picks? Because obviously worked
for your last year, right right, but again this year
too from my picks this is and you went so
you decided to go with I changed to Houston over
Duke because you had Duke in your fire, right, don't.
Speaker 4 (08:29):
You what you did?
Speaker 2 (08:31):
And by the way, I think I think Gottlie might
have still won. If that were the case, these these
swings in the scoring of it, it's pretty wild on
our bracket house. Well, we'll get to that coming up here.
And just been I at least think Arnie. You know,
like four years ago, three years ago, one of the
producers in LA won that and got to going with
the TV like they won the TV. I'm about to
(08:52):
win it back to back. Heres, I haven't gotten anything, Squire.
One year I won. I I think I got to check.
I think I got to check for like twenty five thout.
I don't think you've ever won the Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
I gotta check.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
I'm gonna have to check on that. Anyway. Uh, we
had a great game, we had a great finish, and
then I thought, you know, it's funny. The Auburn Florida
game was outstanding, amazing now I know for you a
buzzer beater.
Speaker 9 (09:20):
Yeah, he did the Houston Duke game, right, Chris Arnie
called that one pretty bad as well.
Speaker 6 (09:24):
The first started.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I yeah, with the game was already over, I go, well,
we didn't get a buzzer beater. You knew that Auburn
was gonna wear on down and you saw that happen
even though.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
They had Oh yeah, everybody saw it happening. Whenever they
were talking about how Auburn is dominating this game. Midway
through this, I guess I could happen. I guess you
need to watch college basketball. I guess so, because I
don't think you have a damn clue what you're talking about.
To watch these games. Nobody at halftime was saying that
Houston had a chance, and nobody was given Florida a chance.
With the way that Albin looked at.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
That, I was seriously thinking about betting used it at
twenty five to one.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
I'm not I'm not kidding around, Chris. I really wanted
to do you know bet, I've made one bet in
my years, we've done that.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
I wish I would have put one thousand dollars on it.
I would have made twenty five down. I'm gonna I'm
mad at Todd Firs.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
That must have been the same amount of money you
won when the Fox Sports Radio bracket challenge that one.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
Yeah, exactly exactly.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
I thought we had two great games. We had two
fantastic games yesterday. And that's when you grinch about not
having Cinderella's and you grinch about not having buzzer beaters.
I mean that this is why, because you get the
four best teams in college basketball playing in two different games,
and you could not have had more wild types of
(10:36):
games and more wild finishes.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
It was great as much as you're enjoying it.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
All I've heard about for this this particular week is
how people think college basketball is in big trouble.
Speaker 4 (10:49):
It's like it's the.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Doom and gloom of college basketball now and you've seen
it too. On here, let me let me then, if
you're gonna, if you're driving tonight, then just let me
go ahead and get to this here, because this is
I don't even know what the roman numeral is on
the first of all ten is something about Ann moving.
I don't know who Anne is.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
Eleven Cincinnati c I N n okay. Uh, don't you
know how to read? What's wrong with you?
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Hold on? I'm going to send this and I printed that.
I printed that. It looks like CNI n n okay.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
I can see a little bit, but you know, use
your imagination a little bit. Considering you said we want
to welcome you to Oklahoma City. You couldn't figure out
what it was Anne or cied that.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
Was like three days ago. I figured you'd talk about
wake up. You've got who got like a You've got
a ten, eleven, you got a twelve, a thirty, you
got like a nine in there for silay.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Screwed that up. I screwed that up with a VEGK.
That's really Let me read this.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
This is this is number seven. Number, this is number seven.
It says experts predicting the end of college hoops as
we know it.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
I didn't even know I put that in there. How
about that?
Speaker 2 (12:01):
The end of college hoops as we know it? Yeah?
I mean, bro, that's like been twenty years in the making.
College basketball is nothing like you and I knew it.
And I don't know how much more can possibly change.
In fact, with revenue sharing, when we eventually get there, right,
probably gonna get a little bit better. So where are
(12:23):
these people? Show me your work? Aren't he Spaniards? Well?
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Okay, this is what I hear and what I see
and what I think is going to happen. Okay, First
of all, they're saying that there's gonna be less upsets
because the stronger conferences are just gonna be that much stronger.
They're gonna purge on these smaller schools, the smaller conferences,
which we've seen happen, and we understand that. Now here's
(12:46):
the countermeasure for something like that. We always wondered, why
is the NCAA always talking about increasing to like ninety
or one hundred and twenty eight or whatever the number
comes out to.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Well, now we know why. Because they want.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
To be able to keep the madness. They want to
be able to keep the upsets. They want to be
able to keep the craziness. And that is being taken
away with all the transfer and the NIL money. And
the only way to get that back is to add
a whole nother weekend of games where you have more
of these mid major teams coming in that could pull
off the upset. Now I really understand what they were
(13:22):
thinking before the tournament started about increasing the amount of
teams going into the tournament.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
How many years have we had NIL in college basketball?
What you tell me three, four, five, five, five five, Right,
So we've had chalk all five years in the first
two three rounds of the NCAA Tournament. I mean, I'm
(13:49):
just saying, if everyone is predicting doom and gloom because
of NIL and the portal, these rules have been the
same for five years, right, right, Well, so you think
that this is this, this was a good tournament, this
is what people wanted.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
See, I disagree.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
No, I think this is just happens it. There's years
where the good teams are the good teams and they
don't get beat and you've got four one seeds. It's happened.
That happened often, but it's happened.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Well, that's why they want to increase the amount of
teams they want.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
So why knee jerk? Let me ask you something. Yeah,
you and I fight a lot about the NFL rules
whenever it comes here, and I know Apple's and arms,
but I'm just making this point. You and I talk
a lot about whenever you have a team that wins
a division, right and doesn't have as good of a
record as a wild card team, or maybe hasn't under
five hundred record, we always say, why knee jerk to this?
(14:41):
This is part of it. Let it play out. Sure,
why are you and others knee jerking to one year
whenever we have one seeds that play for the final four?
And oh, by the way, your beloved buzzer beaters, do
you realize there were more buzzer beaters in this year's
tournament than there weren't the last two combined. No, stop it.
I don't believe that at all. There's three buzzer beaters
(15:03):
in this year's tournament. There was one last year. Oh
I'm sorry, and three and twenty three. Okay, there was
one last year. Arnie was last year's tournament terrible two.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Well, I mean that's what we tune in for, right,
That's what we want, that's what we expect.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
To get out there.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
I mean, that's do you know how many games, how
many years of tournaments have had more than like, what's
a good amount of just buzzer beaters for you? Like
in a tournament. I want to see the Valpo every year.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
I want I want that, man.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
I want to throw the court tip it that somebody
hit the barely a half court shot. I want the
Gonzaga over UCLA. I want that every year. Give me
one of those or two of those every year. That's
what I want.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
Okay, fair enough, but that's what I'm saying is you've
got you're you're not gonna get. Those are iconic plays
that happened. What you Mitch? You just mentioned Valpo, right
and right's true. Do you know what year that was?
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Right a long time?
Speaker 2 (16:00):
It's nineteen ninety eight, dude, you're happy to go back
to nineteen ninety Well, that point is I think everybody's
freaking out and losing their mind over one year. And
by the way, I don't think that it's gonna change
the game forever. I think the best thing that could
happen is for college basketball to adopt the baseball rules.
Make them be in school for three years, and if
they don't want to go to school for three years,
(16:20):
they can go to junior college or go bro out
of high school. But if you go to the NCAA
Division One, you're in there for three years unless you
turn twenty one your junior year. At thirty, you turned
twenty one before your junior year. That's that's the baseball rules.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
What the what about all the transferring?
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Now? What does that bother you? Where you're using?
Speaker 3 (16:39):
I've heard on the small but you know what, though,
I understand where these kids are coming from though, being overlooked,
having to go to a smaller conference, having to play
in a smaller school, you know, overcome that and then
finally get a chance to play, you know, you're playing
in front of like family and friends. Next thing you know,
you're playing a pack gym with twenty thousand.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Fans out there. I mean, it's, you know, quite the
thing to do something like that. I just think the
point is you you're very much there's no gray area.
You're like, well, I guess because all the one seeds
made it. You think this is a great tournament and
nothing's wrong say that. I just think this happens because
of all the number one seeds making it. I'm not
(17:21):
against which I was earlier.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
I'm not against adding more teams now because I need
more mid majors in there. You're taking away the mid majors.
You're taking away some of the fun. You're taking about
You're taking away what was made this fun. There's tournament fun,
and those were the upsets and the mid majors winning.
I need that. I want that, and I think that's
what Minny wants to one year.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
And then, by the way, just so I know we're
up against it, Ian and I apologize. You're the same
person that if Saint Mary's is playing in the Sweet sixteen,
you're bitching and moaning because you want the blue bloods,
so which one is it.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
But I like them getting there though.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
I like them and builing that first up set or
that and everybody who loves that.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Though everybody goes to first and second round in the
NCAA tournament, it was this year. That's right, all right.
When we come back to the tyrack dot Com Studios
a little bit more on, I guess I'm listening to
Willard and apparently we're watching two different nbas so I was.
He got me all excited, and then he started talking
about a great game from Tuesday of last week. But
(18:19):
we got some NBA notes we need to get to,
and Arnie, we're getting closer to the draft. All eyes
are on college basketball, so we're all in on the tournament.
Much more here for the tyrack dot Com Studios with Arnieplank.

have memoriams at rips for people that are still alive
(19:27):
that we work with.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Yeah, that big misunderstanding. The crew thought that Ben Maller's
producer Coop died.
Speaker 7 (19:35):
What.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Yeah, they thought he died because of something I said.
And it was just a miss on this standing because
I don't know if you saw this.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
The crew is the same crew that's here. It is
Ian and Mary Mack. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (19:46):
Well, because I said, because I said, Dennis the Menus
died and they're like, what, Coop died?
Speaker 6 (19:51):
Coop dieing was being funny?
Speaker 4 (19:53):
Coop died?
Speaker 3 (19:53):
No, I did Dennis because Coop played Dennis de Menaz
in some movie. He's a failed child actor. And I
met the real dentist the menas Jade North Dies.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
First off, he didn't even know that Coop was actually
in Dennis the Menace.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
He was in Liar Liar.
Speaker 9 (20:07):
I knew that was also in one adaptation of Dennis
the Menace, Right, yeah, and there's Vin.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
I don't know if i'd say failed. I mean, that's
a pretty big deal. In fact, whenever you don't give
me credit for that.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
You have not worked with with Jim Carrey.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Right, No, not yet, not yet. Maybe in time, well
after watching that documentary on Jim Carrey, maybe he'll be
hanging out with us sooner rather than later. I mean
that looking good. But I mean Coop. Whenever I started
Fox Sports Radio, one of the first films I had
was the Overnight Showy and uh, this Coop was the
(20:45):
producer and the guy that, uh, one of the guys
I work with. And he was like, oh my gosh,
He's like, that's just that dude was on liar liar.
I'm like, how'd you know? He? I know, I watched
the show, I watched the movie.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
Sorry, he just recognized him straight up.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
I have no idea how he knew. Maybe he had
listened to the show before and they heard him mentioning it.
But I was like a rock star in his mind
because I worked with Coupe. How about that.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
Yeah, he hated when I called him failed child actor?
Speaker 2 (21:10):
So you got I mean, yes, I don't I think
that a lot of people would hate that, Arnie if
you called him failed at anything. I'm like, any I
don't know why you would be surprised by that, right,
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
It was a shocking guy, but anyway, that's that's what happened.
It was the Dennis the Menace. The real guy that
played Dennis the Men's Jade North passed away. So one
of the shows I used to watch a little bit
when I was.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Way, way young back in the day. Let me see here,
how old was he? Seventy five, seventy seventy three, seventy three, yeah,
seventy three. Also, by the way, was this this week
rip Val Kilmer?
Speaker 7 (21:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (21:45):
Val Kilmer? Man? That was Al Kilmer passed away this
week man?
Speaker 3 (21:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
I saw that.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Tom Cruise was all broken up about it, and it
was just, uh, it was sad.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
He was he was a good actor. No, he was
looking a good looking guy. He was good. Yeah, he
was my favorite. I love him in Tombstone he was Holiday,
loved him in Real Genius. I'm dumb enough to have remembered.
Oh gosh, the movie, uh got top secret? Was that
the movie he was in where he went overseas and
he was Nick Rivers, the singer d I Love Me Some,
(22:17):
I Love Me some. Val Kilmer, So yeah, all right,
guy to RP. And who's the other dude that passed away?
Dennis the Minutes Not Coop, Not not Coop. No, thank goodness,
Coops still around. So that's thank goodness for Ben Maller. Well,
you know who else is still around? The great Stevie
Sager who comes rolling in com studios. What's going on?
Speaker 8 (22:36):
Steve, Hello, gentlemen, good to hear you both, Disager?
Speaker 2 (22:41):
How much did Arnie screw up the game Saturday night?
Speaker 8 (22:44):
For Actually, at one point it was his co host
who is behind, But Arnie and the co hosts were
both behind us here I felt great, honest, Uh, this
could not have been a better day for the Los
Angeles Lakers. There is one week left in the regular season.
Lakers won, Denver lost, Golden State lost. The Lakers for
(23:08):
sure will be a top six team and avoid the
play in. If they just win one of the four
remaining games. Wow, there's a chance they go two and
two down the stretch and still get the three seed.
That's the kind of lead they just built. Tonight, Denver
lost at home to Indiana one twenty five to one
twenty even though Nicoli jo GICs out a triple double
(23:29):
with forty one points. He's had two of these monster
games in the last week and lost both of them.
For Golden State, it was a home loss to Houston
one oh six ninety six Steph Curry one of ten
shooting from the floor three points in the game. And
today the Lakers won at the best team, Oklahoma City
one twenty six ninety nine.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
Oh yeah, ficks a muscle.
Speaker 8 (23:51):
They will play each other again Tuesday, also in Oka
see thunder. With a record of sixty four and fourteen,
by the way, light years ahead of the rest of
the Western Conference, Houston is the two seed. The Lakers
could be the three seed. Lakers are up a game
and a half over Denver and up two games over
four other teams with again only one week left. Good
(24:14):
news for New York they got Jalen Brunson back in
the starting lineup he missed a month with a sprained
ankle at fifteen points in a win over Phoenix one
twelve ninety eight. Sacramento got thirty seven points from Zach
Lavine and a victory at Cleveland one twenty to one thirteen.
I don't know if you saw the women's basketball national
title game today, kind of like some of the other
recent Yukon games, not competitive. They blit South Carolina to
(24:39):
take the crown eighty two to fifty eight. So that's
twelve national titles for coach Gino Oriama all at Yukon.
Men's final is Monday night, Florida against Houston. Speaking of
the Crown, by the way, that new tournament for the
men college basketball crown in Las Vegas at Nebraska winning
the final against UCF today on Fox seventy seven sixty
(25:00):
six on FS one. Denny Hamlin the NASCAR winner at
Darlington tonight on FS one. There was the UFL Spring
League Saint Louis a winner twenty six to nine against
San Antonio. In the NHL, Alex Ovechkin with career goal
number eight ninety five, now the most in NHL history.
His Washington team did lose four to one to the
Islanders in the late game Vegas in action and tied
(25:23):
two to two at Vancouver in the second. The Masters
starts Thursday in San Antonio. Today, the Texas Open went
to Brian Harmon by three strokes at the Livgolf event
in Miami, a one stroke victory for Mark Leishman. The
Boston Red Sox have won five straight. They had a
rainout yesterday, so doubleheader today and they beat the Cardinals
in each game ten innings in the opener five to
(25:44):
four Boston, tonight eighteen to seven Boston, and San Francisco
has won seven straight down in Seattle five to four,
while Philly edged the Dodgers eight seven. San Diego was
an eight to seven winner at the Cubs Miami at
Atlanta rained out. The Braves have a one inn record.
They did activate catcher Sean Murphy from the Aisle Miami
and the Braves will make up today's game with a
(26:06):
doubleheader in August. And by the way, Dodgers left handed
pitcher Blake Sneil went on the injury list today shoulder inflammation.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Shocking back to you, thanks Steve.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
That iss teem to say your He'll have updates all
night long from the tairaq dot com studios. A right,
you wanted some tweets here early.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
Yeah, we're getting a lot.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Yeah, did you want to dive into any of these
other room You have one, two, three, four, five, six,
like eight Roman numerals just from college basketball alone. Okay, well, yeah,
there's plenty of time for some college basketball. I'll give
it by prediction for something that you think is terrible
and was awful. You sure do want to talk about
it a lot tonight.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Let me tell you something overall, Chris, And you know,
the ratings are obviously going to be up because when
you're tuning into the game, you don't know if there's
gonna be a buzzer beater or there gonna be a
blowout or anything like that, or get the upset or
you know, anything that we usually turn in for March madness.
But this has not been, uh you know, an exciting
March badness year.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
It has not been.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
And I told you, you know, it's funny you didn't
give me any credit. I should get credit for this.
I told you before the tournament even started. I'm not
feeling the madness. That's exactly what I said. How I
still say that after what you just watched last night, Like, okay,
so you got one good game too, good games, good games?
Oh my goot, many games. I mean come on now, geez,
(27:22):
well that's like that's like you sitting on your ass
for ten years and then buying your wife of flowers
and zee I'm a great husband.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Yeah, what about the other ten years? McFly? Come on? Okay,
well you just you just made my point. You just
made my point. Oh yeah, I don't you have a year.
You have one year where you get chalk and you
don't have your bloff buzzer beaters, which, by the way,
you really haven't had a lot of in the last
five years. You had a bank shot back in twenty
(27:52):
twenty at the Buzzer at twenty twenty one from Gonzaga
that you probably still live on and talk about the greatness.
Of course, you get one in ten years and you're
acting like the sky is falling and that you deserve better.
Quit being a baby. It was awesome. The Elite eight
was awesome. That Florida Texas Tech game that wasn't amazing.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
It was I mean Texas Tech.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
All we talk about is how they let that one
slip through their Fingers and the Texas Tech come back
against Arkansas.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
I mean, just because it's not teams that were thirteens
beating fours or anything like that. I thought this tournament
had good moments. What's your what's your moment that you
stand on from last year's tournament that made it so
much that, dude, come on, you're being a prisoner of
the moment here. Enjoy what you had. You had two
(28:37):
incredible Final four games, and you had a pretty good
Elite eight game. Let me ask, just why do you
think they want to expand the tournament. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Maybe it's for money, maybe that's the only reason. But
I think they're doing it because I think people are
afraid that we're not gonna have the upsets, that it's
gonna be mostly Power conference teams. We're gonna kind of
hurt the mid majors out there, and that's that's a
big appeal.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
To this tournament of the mid majors. I think that's
why they want to I guess we're listening to different people.
I mean, I just I guess I'm watching a different
NBA than Willard Is, and I guess we're hearing different
people because I hear.
Speaker 4 (29:12):
No, send the guy to your house, but you might.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Need to, because I'm hearing no one that wants the
tournament expanded, and nobody wants expanded for nobody wants it
to give more.
Speaker 7 (29:22):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
Cinderella is an opportunity. If anything, it's to get more
of the major teams in there. You're telling me more
Cinderella's playing more games is gonna allow them a chance
to win. It's gonna wear them down, by your theory.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
Uh, But at least we'll go ahead and get those
mid majors in for the upsets. At this rate, we're
we're gonna have shrinking mid majors by the.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Are you gonna take away automatic qualifiers?
Speaker 4 (29:44):
No, I'm not taking away them, so you're not.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
You're just mad because Arizona got beat and you thought
that by not picking them you were gonna get them
fast tracked into the final four. This is all coming
to froth. And I'm also mad that you're in first
place again this year. That kind of a and Paul writes,
I want to hear more about Beth's yogurt, much more
entertaining than the NCAA tournament.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
See there you go.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
People would rather hear about Beth's yogurt, which was just
just looked horrible. I wouldn't touch that, and matter that's
supposed to be a dessert. I don't know what she
was doing in the kitchen. It was like she was experimenting.
I would put it on the wall.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
I was putting up like you know, uh something, you know,
like something on the wall to stick like wallpaper. But
I wouldn't eat that stuff. I wouldn't be sick or something.
You should have taken it and it just like took
it down to your studio and start putting on the wall.
She said, what do you do? I put my soundproofing
out this.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
I took a picture. She's like, no, don't take a
big drago. The world's got to see this. They've got
I like what you're doing to me.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
I like this form Ali, She writes nil. Maybe going
on for five years, but I feel like March is
morphed into a live resume tryout show for coaches reaching
for better jobs. Will Wade even said that, I mean,
did he not say that? Whenever he was at McNeice,
Every single coach that was even thought they were going
to have a run this year ended up taking another job.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
Oh it is like that too.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
I mean, we didn't bring that up in that way though.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
That's nothing new on that front, LJ, LJ. Let's start
with Yu Kant dominance tonight, Arnie and there went over
South Carolina, dominated them and repeated up dominated them at
South Carolina earlier this year, and repeated it in the
Natty today, two absolute beatdowns.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
You know, I didn't know it had been ten years
for Gino.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Yeah, twenty sixteen was his last title.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
Or nine years I guess that. Uh man, that seas.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Nine years whichever you twenty one, whatever it takes.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
But I was happy that he had a chance to
win it. By the way, would that not be a
great April fool's joke if, like Gino showed up to
coach the men's team and Hurley showed up to coach
the women's team at Yukon and they just switched for
the day and Hurley was screaming at all the women
and stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
I think that'd be pretty fun.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
You know, well, I think Gino has been one of
those guys it's been screaming at him like crazy, you know.
He Oh my gosh, who was the Jim Calhoun. You
know he and Calhoun hated each other.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
No, I did not know that.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Oh yeah, the kiuse Calhoun would always make fun of
the women's crowds, call him a bunch of senior citizens
and old ladies, and they just did not get along.
But wow, you know, Calhoun was maybe a little bit
older whenever he retired. I wonder if that might have
been it for Gino. You just want to tie. It's
your twelfth title. It took you nine seasons to get
(32:33):
back there. And by the way, in those nine seasons, Arnie,
when they didn't make it, I think they went to
the final four eight of the nine year, well seven
of the nine because the one year we didn't have
it right, twenty twenty seven of the nine years, they
still went to the final four. And twice in those
seven years they went to the championship games. So like, gosh,
what's wrong with you? Con they're not winning titles? Well,
(32:55):
they're still in the final four. But I just wonder,
you know, because it had been a minute since they
had won, he seemed a little overly emotional afterwards. I
wonder if that might be Ah, I wonder if that
might be it for him. Oh, you mean not saying
he's gonna you think it was seventy one years.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
Old, Yeah, which seems crazy.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
And then, by the way, LJ with a double shot,
he writes next for tonight, and we haven't talked football yet,
so maybe we need the break to think about this.
Arnie LJ, who has had the best off season in
the AFC East so far. I say, not the Dolphins,
it's the Patriots. Miami hasn't improved. In fact, they got worse.
(33:33):
The pain are worst. The Patriots are in the process
of catching and passing them. Kudos by the way to Yukon.
Miami didn't have to hold do a whole heck of
a lot, you know. They You know, it's like when
your girlfriend or your wife is going out to dinners.
If she'dn't have to put up a whole bunch of
makeup because she was great the way she is. You
have to understand that. Okay, Well, I I'm glad you're
(33:55):
happy with him, because I kind of like your backup
quarterback signing this week bringing in Zach Wilson.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Yeah, I'm not worried about that. We're We're primed for
a big year. This is our you know, I'm usually
one year ahead of everybody else, so I think I
was one year ahead of everybody picking the Dophins last year.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
You need to be the third They need to have
a third mic on Jason and Mike's show. You would
be great with them because you just you're seeing the
future like like they do every single week.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
They see in the future too.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
I didn't know that. All right, Hey, when we come
back to the ti rack dot Com studios, I want
to hit a little bit of Roman numeral number nine
on the Roman numeral rundown. We'll find out what it
is together on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Don't listening, no, Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
All right, it's already in playing commedye live from the
tire rack dot Com studios. All ry, I'm very intrigued
by your Roman numeral number nine. Seems like you've already
got my beloved NFL draft figured out through about what
picks one through four right now? So well, if we
Ward's gonna go number one, that was like, that's gonna
(35:06):
be a done deal. Right, Well, I thought you said warrant.
I'm like, cherry pie, let's go. You mean care seventeen days,
twenty hours, and ten minutes, and you say, slammed up
cam Ward one? Okay, who's two?
Speaker 3 (35:21):
That that's still you know, that's still up for debate.
I would say that that's obviously it could be.
Speaker 4 (35:27):
I'm seeing that.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Uh some of the mock drafts have Travis Hunter at
number two. What do you think about that?
Speaker 2 (35:33):
Like it? I don't. I don't know what Cleveland's up to.
I have no idea. Uh, they've been quite on the
quarterback front, but they don't have a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
Well, we were your story? I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Wasn't there in a story that they took out Travis
Hunter and should or Sanders to dinner or no?
Speaker 2 (35:54):
There's so many stories out there right now around the draft.
I'm sure there was. I'm still I'm still trying to
figure out whether or not Kirk Cousins is going to
be the next Cleveland quarterback, right because I saw him
eating in Cleveland this sunny two weeks ago. But I
don't know what Cleveland's up to? Do you know what
the and I get it, this is a stupid thing
to do, but I'll go ahead and call myself out
(36:15):
so you don't have to. But do you know what
the current quarterback rooms look like in both Cleveland and
Pittsburgh on April sixth. Right now, no tell me, Okay,
the Cleveland Browns quarterback room has two dudes right now.
It is Kenny Pickett and Deshaun Watson. Watch champion Kenny Pickett. Oh,
(36:40):
I'm sorry, thank you, Ian, Roddy super Bowl champion Kenny Pickett.
I think the Steelers might be worse, Arnie, because they
have Mason Rudolph and they got your boy, Skyler Thompson.
So I don't know which one is worse, but they're
both bad. And what that's said, I can't see Cleveland
(37:03):
passing on a dude quarterback. If they think Shador Sanders
can help the win.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Games, I would say, obviously they're gonna have to take
a quarterback. They're debating though, if cam Ward was going
to drop and that wasn't going to happen, so you
know that was the thing. Was he going to go
ahead and definitely be the number one pick? It looks
like that way right now. So I think there's four
guys in play it too. Tell me what you think
(37:29):
if and we agree cam Ward's going one, I think
abdol Car Carter, Travis Hunter. Right, I do still think
Schador is in play somewhat, and I'll throw Mason Graham
in there because I know the Cleveland Browns love their
big interior to FENSI yeah, but I don't think they
could pass out a quarterback. That's why, if anything, it
would be Travis Hunter. They would take outside of a quarterback.
(37:52):
But I get a field maybe they would take a
pull the trigger out of Shader.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Stand here's the thing. Do you believe Let me make
sure I'm trying if I'm trying to be better at
following your Roman numeral rundown. Okay, So do you believe
in Roman numeral nine sub number three that Sanders is dropping? Right?
Speaker 4 (38:13):
I actually do believe that. So if you're do you wait,
do you not believe it?
Speaker 2 (38:18):
Do you think that's just I don't think anyone's rising
or dropping right now. I think it's one of the
dumbest things we talk about. But I get it, and
I do it, and I'm here for it. But you
do see it. You do see that, right? I think
I see it in the way we talk about it.
I don't think NFL teams are necessarily going, oh well,
he said something bad in the media. I'm dropping him
on my board. I don't think that's how that happens. Now,
(38:40):
if you end up having a video drop with you
smoking dope out of a what was that a mask
that lay me tons of Yeah, yeah, you have a gap,
that might affect things a little bit. I think usually
it depends on what you do as a team, right,
So it's not necessarily that they're dropping dropping. It's just,
for instance, we would have thought the Raider is where
slam dunk for should or Sanders. But they get Gino
(39:03):
Smith's so they're in pretty good shape for about two
or three years. They don't have to really push for
a quarterback. I don't think he's dropping below three. I
think the Giants are gonna take him at three. Wow.
But if he does drop, Arnie, then maybe your dream
of Hunter and Should or Sanders playing together could happen.
Because the Browns could take Sanders at two, then who's
to say, I'm sorry a Hunter at two? Then who's
(39:26):
to say when Sanders. Let's say he starts dropping and
he gets past Dallas and he gets to Miami, he
gets Indianapolis, where they might have picked up the phone
and call the Falcons say hey, man, what does it
take to get back up to fifteen or maybe sixteen,
or maybe to seventeen. I could see that happening with
a team like Cleveland right where right, But I think
they don't take him at two. They take Hunor, but
they trade back to get him. A lot of the
(39:46):
mock drops.
Speaker 3 (39:47):
I see how had Shaduro Sanders dropping now no further
than number nine.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
I believe were the Saints pick right right, I think
that's his basement.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
But you know what if New Orleans, though, Arnie is
acting like a team that feels like they can win.
I mean, every move they've made this off season isn't
one of a team that's like we're tanking, we're gonna
We're gonna go out there and rebuild. They're making moves
like they would draft an offensive lineman there right. I
don't know, but I think the I think he can tumble,
(40:17):
and if he does, I'd love to see the Browns
out of trade back in and get him, especially if
they took Travis Sunner. All right, hour one of the books.
When we come back, Todd Furhaman joins us right around
the corner on Fox.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
All right, there we go, Hour two, coming to you
live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Tire rack
dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, free roadhazard protection, and over ten thousand
recommended installers. Tire rack dot Com the way tire buying
should be. I have been uncontrollably laughing during the break.
(40:54):
Did you see shady Sean for twenty? Yes, says Number one.
I respect Sean's hatred of college hoops. The man if
we even mentioned hoops, and it's not nbas He's tired
of it, Arnie, He's tired of it. I tried to
warn you about that, but go ahead. Yeah, yeah, But
that gift of Ja Morant and then the celebration and
(41:17):
they have they have AI like a firearm in his hands.
I just I can't even look at it.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
I just are they just picking on him or because
there's other guys that do it that have not been fined.
Speaker 2 (41:27):
So I'm wondering what is it? Because he was warned,
I'm not sure why. Well, I mean yeah, because he
basically has been suspended and he's been in trouble for
it before. But I don't know why. I just can't
stop looking at the video it's cracking me up. Is
is your interest going to MP? Back up? Are we
gonna talk more NBA when we get to the playoffs?
Because again I appreciate those of you who will tell
(41:50):
me how this is a wild end of the season.
I'm like, not, I'm not feeling it yet. Maybe. I mean,
you're having to go back and find games from like
a week ago to tell me. I know that the
game tonight between the Rockets and the Warriors was a
fun one, but will we be will we be in
when we get to the playoffs? Are you still gonna
(42:10):
need buzzer beaters and great games? Our story rella is
in order to get you involved in the NBA player.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
I think will be in. First of all, what was
the status of Donovan Mitchell today? Didn't get hurt with Cleveland,
so I got to see what's going on there. I
don't know how bad that was or if that's going
to affect anything. There's not a lot of jockeing for
positions because it's gonna be Cleveland, Boston. The Knicks are
going to be three. I believe the Pacers are gonna
be four. So the top half was pretty much taken
(42:38):
care of. It's only like Milwaukee Detroit and they'll both
stay out of the play in games, So not a
lot of intrigue there the four playing teams. There's a
lot of maneuverings still that could be done, but not
a lot of games left in the West, though.
Speaker 2 (42:52):
You're okay wild.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Yeah, well, I mean you ran away with it, and
looks like the Lakers are gonna finish third, as the
Sega said in.
Speaker 4 (42:59):
The updates Denver Clippers Warriors.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
Obviously still a lot of craziness going on there because
they can still be in the playing game when it's
all said and done.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
I wonder when the Lakers and the Thunder play tomorrow night,
what what that lineup's going to look like for each team,
Because again, if you're the if you're the Oklahoma City Thunder,
like you just said, aren't you have nothing to prove.
You have nothing to prove. If you're the Lakers, like
what you kind of major statement, you kind of rest
(43:30):
guys up a little bit before the and I say,
tomorrow night.
Speaker 4 (43:34):
Too, White Night. Why are they playing?
Speaker 2 (43:35):
Was this a suspended game or something that was going
on or what what do you mean do they play
them back to back games or what? Oh, Yeah, we're
doing that this year in the NBA. Yeah, they did
it with the Nuggets earlier this season. I want to
say it happened with the Trailblazers where I and sometimes
when they when the Thunder did it against the Nuggets,
(43:57):
it was on back to back nights. They played on
a Sunday night home, then they turn around to play
it on a Monday night at home with the Lakers.
It was tonight, and then it's Tuesday night, which is weird.
So I guess the Lakers aren't okay. See hit me up,
hit me up, Lebron, if you want to hang baby,
you could come on out to Goldsby. Let's go.
Speaker 4 (44:13):
What would happen if you saw them out of dinner
or something.
Speaker 2 (44:16):
I don't think I go to the places where the
Lakers would go to dinner, Arnie. I'm like a I'm
a bag of burgers of Brahms. I don't think that
I'm gonna see Luke. Well, you know what, let me
change that. Luca might be there eating that double cheeseburger
with me. Maybe they might, you know what, with Luke
on board, maybe I have people that eat a little
bit more like me. But yeah, I don't know, it's
just something. Maybe I know that it's part of the
(44:40):
to limit some of the travel and to kind of
ease off on some of the back to backs. I guess,
And yeah, I know, this is like third time this year.
It seems like it's happened for Oklahoma City where you
have the back to back game suspended gate. Don't you
think we would have heard about a suspended game?
Speaker 1 (44:53):
I was sure though.
Speaker 3 (44:54):
I was like, well, maybe we just brushed over it.
Nobody said anything. I'm like, oh, okay, maybe it was
made up for because you know there was a suspended game
or something.
Speaker 2 (45:02):
You know, yeah, because you know, usually if you have
like a back to back, if you have your back
to back, then you're playing like at the Clippers and
then at the Lakers, or you're playing at the Clippers
or at Golden State. It's very rare when it's like,
I guess we'll play you guys again tomorrow night. How
does that seem? It's just it's weird. It's happened twice
in the Thunder schedule this year. Oh and it also
(45:23):
happened against Minnesota. They did it against Minnesota. In fact,
they did it on February twenty thirty against Minnesota already
one gables in Minnesota on Sunday, and then they turn
around to play it against Oklahoma City on that Monday. Wow, Meg,
it makes sense. I don't I'm not sure who's doing this.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
I don't know it was it was it like this
in the past years or no.
Speaker 2 (45:43):
Now it just seems like this. This sounds like an
assignment for Steve de Sager to figure out where we
absolutely get on this. I did a little reading too,
because your idea that the tournament is going to expand,
and the idea that the expansion of the tournament would
be for more or access to like mid major teams, right,
I think it's the exact opposite. But numbers would tell
(46:06):
you that they do need to expand. When the NCAA
Tournament expanded from thirty two to sixty four teams, that's
that was only eighty five you know, I know that.
You look now you're like, well, I'm like, what do
you mean only plank. We're going on life forty years
ago now, but still when you think about seismic shifts
and sports, Okay, not too terribly long ago, but it
(46:28):
went from thirty two to sixty four at that point
there were only two hundred and eighty two schools that
played college basketball, So you had twenty three percent of
the NCAA that would make the big dance when it
jumped to sixty eight in twenty eleven. So when it
added four more teams, and by the way, that's wild,
(46:48):
that was fourteen years ago. Whenever they were just four
more teams, there were three hundred and thirty five schools
playing next college fast.
Speaker 4 (46:57):
Fifty you said, fifty or sixty?
Speaker 2 (46:59):
Is that what it was? Yeah? Yeah, when it went
to sixty eight teams, it had grown. The amount of
schools would grow to three hundred and thirty five, which
is now twenty percent. Currently, the sixty eighteen field for
both the men's and women's basketball tournaments represent just nineteen
percent of Division one schools. Wow, so and you've got
(47:19):
nine more schools that are making the process of transitioning
to D one. So a seventy six team field for
a three hundred there's three hundred and sixty four teams,
aren't he that are going to be playing Division one
college basketball? Right? That would cover twenty one percent of
the division. Leads to give you a better number.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
What you do is what get the first top twenty
buys or something?
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Is that the way maybe this would work. So I
don't know what the exact number, but something to that effect. Yeah,
and maybe the expansion turns a new first eight, intil
I could play in tournament from May, right, which would
be pretty cool, but would not necessarily be good thy
because you're then playing those more games from mid majors.
But I don't think it's going to happen soon. But
(48:03):
I also don't think it's off the table. I think
we're gonna expand we're gonna have to from the sheer
numbers right to make that. I guess, long and vary
number field explanation easy, Arnie. We had three hundred and
thirty five schools whenever they expanded to sixty eight. Now
we're up to what was my number, like three hundred
and eighty teams that are three hundred and sixty four
teams that are playing college basketball.
Speaker 3 (48:24):
Right, just add another round and just go ahead and
do that. Give some teams some buys and instead of
the play in first four, you actually make that a
whole round and get more mid majors in there, and
maybe that will solve some of the problems.
Speaker 2 (48:37):
All right, to the to the tweets, to the program
tonight at Stinking Genius one. I'm at Plank Show. Everybody
go follow us at Fox Sports Radio. All right, this
is from noted Plank Cater Roger the Engineer. He writes
NI on the transfer rules will increasingly move the talent
(48:57):
to the schools that pay the most. That's if that's
what you want for any small school to lose all
their good players every year, you are getting what you want.
It's just paid aau games. Now next year all the
players will move to new teams. Who cares.
Speaker 1 (49:15):
See.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
That's why whenever I'm made president of the NCAA or
whatever the governing organization is gonna be ay. I'm gonna
have a rule in a place. When you go play
college ball, any sport, you're there for three years. Three years,
you're not going anywhere. Fight. Go fight me in court.
I'll fight you back off. You're not allowed to transfer.
You'll get one transfer, one transfer, but you've got to
(49:38):
be in school for three years before you can turn pro.
You don't now, you could transfer anytime within that three year,
but you get one and that's it. That's your only transfer,
and you know what. That's probably eventually gonna.
Speaker 1 (49:50):
Be the rule.
Speaker 4 (49:52):
Oh, I'm not sure about that.
Speaker 2 (49:53):
Absolutely. You think they're just gonna leave this open where
you can continue to do this.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
No, if they are gonna put a limit, I don't
think they're gonna put it at one.
Speaker 2 (50:03):
Maybe two. I don't know why they're gonna put the
limit at one. Bro, I live this every single day.
I study it. I talk to people. They're gonna leave
it at one. Why the hell would you say, all right,
you can transfer twice? What good does that do?
Speaker 8 (50:17):
Well?
Speaker 3 (50:17):
Just in case the kid's not getting playing time or
it didn't work out or whatever.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
One time you need two places to go to figure
out you suck? I mean serious, man, you're telling me,
I don't know they'll keep it in one? Are they
don't you think coaches want their guys transferring more than once? No?
Speaker 3 (50:35):
But how many times does a coach allowed to leave
in that in that same period of time?
Speaker 2 (50:38):
As many as they want? Of course, right, then go
be a coach. When you're done, there's different, it's different rule.
I like when people there, I coach can leave any
time they went, Yeah, they can. What's your point? Well,
the players should be two oh okay, well then you
can get cut. Yeah, you don't really have that, or
you hadn't had that until suddenly you want it in
(50:59):
il and now no athlete in any sport has the
freedom that a college athlete does.
Speaker 3 (51:06):
Right now, Arnie, no one right? Can they just come
and go? And Arizona lost a bunch of guys. One
went to Georgetown, one went to North Carolina. Yeah it sucks.
Speaker 2 (51:15):
And I'm like, oh, where are you guys going?
Speaker 3 (51:17):
Man?
Speaker 2 (51:17):
I hang out for another year. No, you just said that.
You said you two transfers. You just go wherever you
want a couple of times, and when you get bored,
you come back around. I think they're gonna do what
they can to keep it at one. Give you a
free transfer. I mean yeah, at least back in the
day you had to submit something. Now you're just like
in portal. See you guys later, talk to you soon.
This this is gonna be a wild cup.
Speaker 3 (51:38):
I don't even know if you have to tell the coach.
You could just put get in the portal and just
get in the car.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
That's true. You really don't have to. You really don't
have to anymore. But I will say it's gonna be
it's gonna get worse before it gets better, kind of
like tariffs are and it's gonna get worse. I'm just kidding,
it's gonna get worse before it gets better, because you
know I I work with some smart people and one
of the smartest dudes I know, Toby Rowland, voice of
(52:03):
the Sooners, Just watch. I was just watching Toby on
TV and I was sitting there and I was just
limiting what you and I have talked about. I'm losing
my mind. I'm like, why are these teams talking about
spending thirteen to fifteen million dollars on their roster when
we have revenue share coming? Why why would we do that?
And Toby stop me. He goes, because we're not in
a revenue share yet. Because we're not there yet, Aren'tie right?
(52:26):
And teams are going to I don't want to say cheat,
but I will cheat like crazy to get all the
guys they want to spend all the money they can
before this new ruling comes in and is like, ah ah,
you can't do that anymore because they're not going to
retroactively go after you. It's just going to be here's
the rules, and here's how it is now right.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
It's gonna be from here on out like a grand right.
No grandfather clause, that's that's the bad terminology. Just from
here on out, these are the new rules.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
Well no, no, no, no, there would be a grandfather clause. No,
because they won't go after if those people will still
have those deals, everyone will live under the refishere right.
So that's why I think we got a spring football
portal that's going to open up, right, I think that's
gonna be insane. And Arnie, I think we're just getting
started on how wild this is going to be for
(53:14):
college basketball. Man, it's gonna be crazy.
Speaker 4 (53:17):
The money is there.
Speaker 2 (53:18):
The money is that. I didn't think there was so
much money.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
I was surprised when to hear us so some of
the top players are getting what two and a half
three million dollars?
Speaker 2 (53:26):
That's crazy. I listened to and and you're talking basketball, right,
I listened to an interview with Britain Vinnables and he said,
just about every guy on their roster is making six
figures plus? Does that block in college football?
Speaker 4 (53:41):
Even the ones that don't play.
Speaker 2 (53:43):
And then if somebody told me, at every school it's
probably good that their salaries aren't listed because you would
lose your mind when you saw how much some of
the guys that aren't playing or making Oh my goodness, man,
I think it's I think it's that way across college football,
and I think it's even worse around college basketball. But
(54:05):
we'll see if the rev share can curb that a
little bit. One more quick tweet here. This is from
Josh Josh Wright. Why did Dallas trade a fifth round
pick for a seventh round quarterback in Joe Milton junior
old Jerry Jones Let me guess Arnie as a member
(54:27):
of the And that's what Josh wrote. I didn't say that.
Ticket heads. You're you've got Joe Milton in your preseason
Hall of Fame, don't you. Didn't he earn the gold
jacket this show?
Speaker 3 (54:37):
I think he did. I think he was at one
or two games. I'm not sure right now off the
top of my head, to be honest with you.
Speaker 2 (54:43):
Oh and by the way, one more happy for life,
says Shador Sanders, will be a stealer for him Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh,
by the way, has a twenty first pick in the
in the first round of the draft.
Speaker 3 (54:58):
You're not get in there you can trade, but you're
not getting him at that point.
Speaker 2 (55:01):
Real quick, before we break him. Before Todd Furman jumps
in here, what did you make of Jalen Milroe accepting
the invitation to the green room?
Speaker 4 (55:10):
Crazy?
Speaker 2 (55:11):
Isn't it?
Speaker 3 (55:11):
Because I didn't think he was going to be selected
that high. I was a little surprised about that.
Speaker 2 (55:15):
What did you think I did too? I saw that
as like, I don't want to have this camera on
Jalen Millic.
Speaker 4 (55:23):
Is it gonna be cringe worthy?
Speaker 3 (55:24):
Is this guy gonna be like, oh man, I'll go
ahead and take another bowl of food while waiting to
be drafted, because it's going to be like, well, you know,
they go pretty fast though in the first round, so
it's not that bad anymore.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
And of course what Ian had sent us earlier that
I find kind of interesting. What's the number? Ian? Yeah?
Speaker 9 (55:40):
I was about to jump in and say, uh, last
year's numbers thirteen prospects were invited and accepted their their
draft invites, and all thirteen did go in the first round.
Speaker 6 (55:50):
So could be noworthy here from Milroe who accepted.
Speaker 2 (55:53):
So maybe they have a good feeling that if Pittsburgh's
sitting there at what'd I just say Pittsburgh wasn't the
first or twenty one, one, twenty one, and Milroe's there,
maybe they think he's gonna go. Hey, we've had this
happen before, Arnie, where we don't think guys are gonna
go in the first round, or we don't think they're
gonna go in the top ten. And you look up,
you're like, damn, man, Michael Blas just got drafted by
(56:14):
the Falcons.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
So does that mean he would be the fourth quarterback
taken in the first round or Jackson Dart drops down
and he's the fourth quarterback taken.
Speaker 2 (56:22):
I think he would be the third quarterback taken in
the first round.
Speaker 6 (56:25):
If Milroe went ahead of Shador Sanders, then.
Speaker 2 (56:28):
I don't know the discourse he's talking about Jackson Dart, Right,
he's already got Jackson Dart in the first round.
Speaker 3 (56:34):
Well, so you don't. I had him ahead of Milroe.
So that's why I'm surprised about it.
Speaker 2 (56:39):
Are you drafting? Do you where's where's my arty span
your mock draft at if you have in front of him, Man,
I didn't know you had this passion for the draft.
You know you're right, every single one of these mock
drafts that you look at has Jackson Dart going higher
than Jaln Milroe.
Speaker 3 (56:54):
So that means enough to be four quarterbacks, which if
you believe that, then you should bet the over over
what two and a half.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
I'm not buying the Jackson Dart first round hype. I
know everyone's on it. I did buy the bo Nick's
first round hype last year until like draft day, so
I could be just completely swinging and missing on this.
But you know what, We'll ask Todd Furman about it
when he comes up next. Right here with Arnie and
Plank on Fox Sports Radio. All right, it's uh, it's
a busy night. As Todd Furman joins us, this is
(57:22):
Arnie's favorite song. Todd, you do join us as we
have some breaking news here. Oh wow, I assume I'm
not getting trolled by this and this is the right account.
But Jeff Passon Vlad Guerrero Junior in the Blue Jays
of fourteen year, five hundred million dollar contract.
Speaker 8 (57:41):
Yeah. Ken Hassen's always first on this.
Speaker 2 (57:43):
Oh, I'm sorry.
Speaker 7 (57:45):
Credit to the Blue Jays for shoring up the face
of their franchise. We thought this was going to be
a negotiation that would go into next summer, that it
was going to be the Yankees potentially poning up money
to bring him from Toronto down to be a member
of the Yankees. But here we are, and so the
Blue Jay's really serious about keeping Vlad Guerrero Junior. And
you wonder who else they're going to surround him with.
But fourteen years, five hundred million, I'm pretty sure that
(58:08):
that's plenty of loonies and tunies for Vlad to be
able to do whatever he wants in the great City
of Toronto going forward.
Speaker 3 (58:14):
I was hoping the Mets were going to get him.
I guess that's not gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
Now.
Speaker 4 (58:18):
You didn't answer my text last night, I'll come.
Speaker 7 (58:21):
Because you've never texted me. And there is no way
that you were going to pony up the cash that
it would have taken to bet the Houston Cougars on
the money line in play, Because Arnie, there is nobody
who watched that basketball game, maybe outside of the Houston
bench or Kelvin Sampson's family, that believed when the Cougars
are now fifty nine to forty five and struggling to
get stops at the defensive end, that they could come
(58:42):
back or RaSE that deficit and finally get through to
the National Championship where they'll finally have an opportunity to
allow Calvin Sampson to scratch one of the only remaining
items that he doesn't have on his career.
Speaker 3 (58:53):
Rect twenty five to one, though twenty somebody did bet
twenty five.
Speaker 2 (58:56):
Dollars that got back twenty six hundred dollars for that time.
Speaker 7 (59:00):
Yeah, not bad ROI and I had actually spoken to
a couple other books. There were prices as high as
forty or fifty to one. I'll bee a and offering
that were available when you consider what kind of mathematical
improbability it really was for Houston. But look, that's Cougar
DNA through and through, and those guys never quit. See
you tip your hat to them. And you also feel
it for the do kids who came up just short
(59:21):
and what they thought was going to be a collision
course against the Florida Gators tomorrow night.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
Yeah, and again Kingston's done stuff like this. January twenty fifth,
they did this to Kansas in Lawrence. Now they weren't
down by double digits with six minutes to go in
the game, but as shocking of a meltdown slash comeback
as you've seen in the final thirty seconds in a while,
in a moment like that.
Speaker 7 (59:43):
Todd definitely right up there. I mean, you think of
the sequence of events that it took for Houston to
be able to overcome that deficit from you know, what
I thought was a little bit of a fifty to
fifty call over the back loose ball file that got
Houston to the follow line, but then being able to
force a turnover on the inbound pass, electing to forego
the two, taking the three, and you get a shooter
(01:00:03):
to the line with a chance to extend that you
sixty two percent from the strike. So that was a
veteran group who'd been in these kind of tight battles
in the past, and it really showed up late in
the contest. While I think a lot of us had
questions about how Duke would handle the late game situations
with a relatively young roster, and look, people want to
point at Duke saying they choked. I think that's the
(01:00:24):
cheap way out. Give Houston credit where it's deserved. That
team never blinked in the face of adversity, and they're
rewarded with a trip to a final that, in my opinion,
is going to feel like a home game if their
fans decide to flood the Alamodome making that short trip
from Houston down to the Riverwalk.
Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
Tell me what the professional gamblers are thinking, because now
that Houston, let's just say they snuck in for lack
of a better term here, because everybody was pretty much say, okay,
it's going to be Duke Florida.
Speaker 4 (01:00:49):
Are the pros going like, oh.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
Now I'm really gonna go ahead and hammer, I'm jumping
on the Houston bandwagon. This line has not changed Florida
minus one and a half. The over runners dropped a
half point. Is there not a lot of money coming
in on this game or what?
Speaker 7 (01:01:02):
Well, they're not jumping on the Houston bandwagon. Professional betters
back to Cougar's last game against Duke, they were more
than happy to take anything better than five in that
particular contest, and professionals have found themselves betting against Florida
over the last couple of games. That game against Auburn
on Saturday never went from you know, two and a
half out to three and stuck every time it got
(01:01:23):
to three. There was money on the underdog. You go
back to the game against Texas Tech. Tech took money
from professional betters as well, So very interesting dynamic and
play here. But I think the general public thinks Houston
extremely fortunate to get to this point in the season,
and in my opinion, they want to latch on with
that Walter Clayton legend that's building by the game or
jump shot, as I should say. And I think you're
(01:01:43):
going to see about seventy percent of the tickets come
in on the Gators minus that very thin one point spread.
Speaker 2 (01:01:49):
Todd How impressive is he been? I mean, I'll see.
I think back to the Tech game, gets a rebound,
goes running behind the three point likes, what are you doing?
Just training threes? Just not believable. And this is a
team now three times or you think they were done.
Auburn kind of looked done at halftime. Look done against Tech,
Look don against you Khon And here they are playing
(01:02:11):
for the title. Pretty unbelievable story.
Speaker 7 (01:02:13):
They just seem to find another gear and it's a
credit to the way that team has developed throughout the
course of the season, not a fluke that they went
on to win the SEC Conference tournament. And when you
have a player that can heat up at a moment, noticed,
it clearly pays off in games of this magnitude. But
I think Houston's going to be a different animal for
them to try and contend with. You're going to get
the Cougars to throw a number of bodies at them.
(01:02:35):
I think it's a tough team to prepare for from
a physicality standpoint, with a thirty six hour turnaround. And look,
Houston has had to fight through a ton not necessarily
this core group, but as a program over the last
four to five years. They're now finally forty minutes away
from getting to the mountaintop. And I think having players
like an LJ. Cryer and Emmanual Sharp that can make
(01:02:55):
shots down the stretch, along with Jawan Roberts who has
been there and done that, I think it's Houston's time
to try and get there. So for me, it's Houston
or passed Tomorrow night in the National Championship Game.
Speaker 3 (01:03:06):
You know, by the way, Todd, I was going to
take today off. I didn't know if you knew this.
I was going to take today off. In planks like
we got a show tonight. You can't take tonight off,
I was going to drive down to New York so
I could go see the Islanders Caps benchkin break the
record there. What do you think about that, my friend?
Speaker 7 (01:03:23):
I think that there is no way that you would
have been able to pay for a ticket to get
into that bill pass. What that street value was for
ov to break Wayne Gretzky records, It was exciting credit.
It was credit to him. I mean he did it
in right around the same amount of games in a
very different era. And look, Ovid isn't a guy that's
just going to go out there and play the finesse game.
I mean he has a chance, you know, to be
(01:03:44):
one of the all time leaders and hits doled out
as well. So what he's been able to do during
his career and battle through this season after missing sixteen
games with that broken leg, nothing short of incredible. And
when you look at some of his underlying metrics from
goals that he scored above expectation and his goals per sixty,
he is in rarefied air for what he's been able
to accomplish this season. I just do wonder if this
(01:04:05):
works against the Washington Capitals when they start playing for
keeps again in two short weeks in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
Hey, Todd, are you looking at who's using torpedo bats
and who's not whenever you're trying to decide on totals,
Are we getting that in depth y out on the
impact they're making in baseball?
Speaker 7 (01:04:21):
You know, sportsbooks are starting to try and take advantage
and offer some unique betting propositions around players using that
particular type of lumber. But for me, you know, I
don't think there's enough of a sample size just yet.
You have a lot of starting pitchers that have only
made two starts so far this year, and a number
of different environments that these teams are going into offensively,
whether it's colder conditions and not exactly prime hitting weather.
(01:04:44):
So I don't think we have enough to try and
take advantage and make blanket generalizations about what these torpedo
bats are going to do to revolutionize the game from
an offensive capability. But no doubt has added a little
bit of intrigue to the first couple of weeks of
the Major League baseball season.
Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
Hey, you know we were talking about this before you
came on, But if mil Row is going to be
invited to the draft, which means so probably more likely
to be taken to the first round, and the over
onload quarterbacks take it to the first round was two
and a half tot Is that still up?
Speaker 4 (01:05:10):
There?
Speaker 3 (01:05:11):
Is that like plus if you sold Jackson Dart in
there we're looking at forward? Is that the thing the better?
Speaker 7 (01:05:16):
What there's a substantial price that you have to lay.
But I would echo your same sentiments that I think
three quarterbacks is the bare minimum that we'll see go
in the first round. You figure cam Warden Shador, Sanders
or Locks and then you just need one of the two,
whether it be Jackson Daughter Jalen Milroe. I think Dart
much more likely to be a first round pick than Milroe.
But look, there are a lot of NFL teams that
(01:05:36):
don't want to ignore the physical attribute that we've seen
from Jalen Milroe from an arm strength standpoint, his mobility.
They think they can teach accuracy. All I would say
is call up the Indianapolis Colts and ask them how
that experiment has gone with Anthony Richardson. But look, Jalen
Milroe on his best day is no doubt a cantilizing talent,
and I think it'll catch the eye of teams that
(01:05:57):
are starved to try and figure out their solution going
forward to the quarterisition.
Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
Check it out to Bet the Board podcast. Todd Furman
with us Sunday nights right here on Fox. Todd, have
a great week man.
Speaker 7 (01:06:06):
We appreciate you always a pleasure, gentlemen. Enjoy the big
game tomorrow night from San Antonio, My friends.
Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
Thanks, Son can wait. That's Todd Furman. Follow him on

Sacre with what's trending? What's going on? Steve?
Speaker 8 (01:06:18):
Almost everything? Final Vegas the late hockey game tied two
to two at Vancouver under five minutes to go. And yes,
multiple reports now saying that Toronto Blue Jays are giving
first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Junior a fourteen year extension. He
turned twenty six last month. It's worth five hundred million
dollars no deferred money. The Mets won their fourth game
(01:06:40):
in a row, beating Toronto today two to one. Philadelphia
edged the Dodgers eight seven. Padres won eight to seven
at the Cubs, extra inding victories for Houston and Pittsburgh.
Miami and Atlanta rained out. San Francisco won its seventh
game in a row. Texas won its fifth straight and
Boston has now won five straight after completing a doubleheader
sweep of St. Lewis beat him eighteen to seven tonight.
(01:07:02):
In the NBA, the regular season ends next Sunday. Denver
and Golden State each lost at home, while the Lakers
won on the road. Today, Lakers won at Oklahoma City
one twenty six ninety nine, while Indiana won at Denver
one twenty five one twenty. Even though Nikoli Jokich had
another triple double and this included forty one points, Houston
a winner at Golden State one oh six ninety six.
(01:07:23):
Steph Curry one of ten shooting from the floor just
three three points in this last Yukon won the National
Championship easily in women's hoops eighty two fifty nine over
South Carolina. In the NHL, among the eight games, Alex
Ovechkin of the Caps career goal number eight ninety five,
most in NHL history. Again, the NHL does not include
(01:07:44):
Wayne Gretzky's rookie season. His team was on the verge
of merging into the NHL but had not yet. Washington
got the only Their only tally was the Ovechkin goal.
Lost four to one to the Islanders. Minnesota in overtime
beat Dallas three to two, Detroit two one over Florida.
Brian Harmon took the Texas opened by three strokes in
San Antonio. The Masters starts Thursday. Mark Leishman won the
(01:08:08):
Livgulf Event in Miami by one stroke. Sergio Garcia finished
two back at the UFL Spring League on FS one Tonight,
Saint Louis a winner over San Antonio twenty six to nine.
Arlington won its game eleven to nine against Houston, which
missed a late two point try. Danny Hamlin was the
NASCAR winner at Darlington. He also won last week at Martinsville.
(01:08:28):
William Byron finished second, though he led the most laps today.
NASCAR's on FS one again next Sunday from Bristol, Tennessee,
and the IndyCar Series is off until next weekend. A reminder,
all seventeen IndyCar races this year are on Fox TV,
so that includes the Indy five hundred in late May.
IndyCar Series ends its season in late August.
Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
Back to you, thanks Steve, Thanks Steve. Were you watch
its Indy Heaper or no that?
Speaker 3 (01:08:54):
But I want to say this real quick to make
a left turn. I just maybe a wait to the
party on this, Chris, So, I apologize if I am.
Did you see the video about Houston celebrating on the
court yesterday after the win?
Speaker 4 (01:09:11):
No, they they're celebrating.
Speaker 3 (01:09:13):
This is so funny because we security can't stop streakers
and protesters from running onto the fore But who do
they stop from getting out the four to celebrate with
the Houston team Hakim Owaja while they go, no, no,
what are you doing? You can't come here? And out
of everybody that's running on the court, they decide that
(01:09:34):
Hakeem is not allowed to go celebrate with the team.
I just reposted it. I'm like, are you saying you
can see it?
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
Keem's fav.
Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
He's like, are you serious? I can't go congratulate them.
I can't go on the court. You have streakers that
go on the court. You can't stop.
Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
Yeah, but I mean you're saying streakers go on the court,
But they do stop them and they tackle them and.
Speaker 4 (01:09:58):
They eventually eventually right.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
I mean, I don't think was going out there to
what cause a ruck is run around.
Speaker 4 (01:10:05):
But I do like his face like, are you kidding me?
Speaker 7 (01:10:07):
Mad?
Speaker 2 (01:10:07):
I think my favorite part of the video that you
tweeted is that it pans slowly and at the end
of it you can see Kelvin walking down and clapping
his sad like literally say that he ended up getting
out there to celebrate. They ended up lett him out there.
Speaker 4 (01:10:23):
They got weird fy NCAA.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
When it comes to those types of things, it's someone
who has been a part a lot of National Championship celebration.
They have weird rules about that right after the game, right,
but eventually it kind of gets gets laxed, and it's like,
all right, everybody who wants out there, go ahead and
do it. You guys.
Speaker 9 (01:10:41):
Remember when Will Howard wasn't allowed on stage when they
made it to the Natty.
Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
Yeah, it's like, wait a minute, I'm the quarterback. Look sorry, man,
rules or rules, it's just it's it's cruls.
Speaker 4 (01:10:51):
Are all sorry about that?
Speaker 2 (01:10:52):
Did you take in any of the women today? Very little,
very little blowout. It was a blot and I might
forget about this. I'm not watching those, sam, I don't
think of it. Got a little carried away pretty quick,
all right, A couple of quick tweets, and then when
we come back to Sagar's got everything that we need
to get caught up on in the wild sports. But
UCLA Dodger Frank said, you have Vlad Guerrero Junior staying
(01:11:14):
with the Blue Jays, And it's a picture of a
very fancy sports car, oh in a shack with a
basic car port over that kind of feels that way,
Mister Noman Shadoor, Sanders isn't going to Pittsburgh. Sanders wouldn't
go play for such a predictable, stagnant offense ran by
Mike Tomlin and Arthur Smith. Well, if they drafted me,
(01:11:35):
won't have a choice, right, and it maybe I'd rather
play for Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
Then let's throw out the Titans or Cleveland or the Giants.
And I know the Giants already signed it, but I'm
just saying the bad teams that were picking up early
in the draft. I'd rather play for Pittsburgh than those
three teams, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
Eric, Right, you would lose that court case plank maybe
fifteen to twenty years from now. But the NCAA, well
open the box and they won't be able to close it. Well,
Eric na is not gonna be in charge, and we're
gonna have anti trust exemptions, so stick out of your tailpipe. Wow,
is this that the one the one transfer rule you
(01:12:13):
were talking about? Yes, okay, I don't think you're gonna
have multiple transfers. In college football, our college basketball, our
college well baseball and softball have always kind of had
a little bit of a multi transfer rule. I mean,
it's it's just always been there. But I do think
they're going to try to limit it across the board.
And then Eric ads after the House settlement, it sounds
(01:12:35):
like multi year in aisle contracts. It would be like
a middle class of MLB where a no hit, good
defensive shortstop signs a two year contract with a team
option for year three with the big salary increase. I agree.
And and oh, by the way, I would say, Arnie,
the idea that they don't have contracts is very interesting
(01:12:58):
in all of this, Right, are you gonna make them
employees or are you not? And then that third part
of it is how much money are you actually going
to be able to give them, because everyone's going to
be under a salary cap and everyone's going to have
a different percentage.
Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
Yeah, I wish we'd find out how much everybody's getting
I'm surprised they've kept that quiet and that's not leaked out, or.
Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
None of the reporters.
Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
Some of it's leaked out. Well, yeah, there the big ones.
I'm just talking about everything in general though, But again,
from what I've learned, we might not want to know
how much some of those guys are making because they
might not be worth it. All right, you guys, tweets
have been great tonight. We'll keep cooking. We'll keep cooking
through them in an hour number three. But when we
come back, let's get caught up on all things that
we're missing out on in the world of sports. We'll
(01:13:40):
call it all things to Sager. Now, I got to
catch up with a few things, all right. First of all,

(01:14:22):
All right, it's Arny in Plank Comedy Live from Thetirack
dot Com studios. What's going on?
Speaker 8 (01:14:27):
Steve di Sager enjoying Arnie on the piano there, very
like that.
Speaker 4 (01:14:30):
I picked that song.
Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
I want you to know that. No, I mean I'm
playing that song.
Speaker 8 (01:14:34):
Okay, that's not you right now, that's on me.
Speaker 2 (01:14:37):
I picked that song though.
Speaker 8 (01:14:38):
Let us start with the breaking news this hour that
the Blue Jays are giving first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Junior
a fourteen year contract extension worth five hundred million dollars
with no deferred money. This guy has about a two
to ninety career batting average. Last year he yet again
played almost every game.
Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
And why not deferred money if that's the way to
go in the dodg are doing something illegal, white doesn't
everybody do it?
Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Well?
Speaker 8 (01:15:03):
First off, it's not illegal, and the player and not
just the team would have to agree to it, right, gotcha?
And since they kicked the can down the road on this,
it's kind of like the Dallas Cowboys they finally get
a negotiation done with Guerrero Junior pending a physical, but
he had a little bit of leverage. By this point,
he's the face of the franchise. They're gonna do no
(01:15:24):
better than he and last year he had thirty home runs,
over one hundred RBIs and vetted three twenty three, so
he's sticking around. He just turned twenty six last month.
His rookie year, they lost ninety five games. They've made
the wild Card three times since, but never won a
single playoff game. They've been out two games to none
(01:15:45):
each time, and they missed the playoffs entirely last.
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
Year, So we shall see good enough.
Speaker 8 (01:15:51):
The Mets, by the way, have won four in a
row and beat Toronto two to one today, Edwin Diaz
the save. We had five different walkoff wins in the
Majors today, most in his single day in almost two years.
That included the Giants winning their seventh straight game, five
to four over Seattle. Boston has won five straight. They
had a rain out at Fenway yesterday, beat Saint Louis
(01:16:11):
in ten innings today, and beat up Saint Louis tonight
eighteen to seven. The new third baseman for the Red Sox,
Alex Bregman, loves hitting at Fenway Park. He was four
for five tonight, a home run in six RBIs and
the new DH the old third baseman Rafael Devers tonight
was four for four with four runs scored. Colorado had
a one and seven record, but did win at home
(01:16:33):
twelve five over the A's. Don't call them the Oakland A's.
They don't play in Oakland anymore. They're just a's. If
you look at a graphic on one of the one
of the games, it's the abbreviation is at H. They're
just the There is no city associated with this team.
Speaker 4 (01:16:49):
As G Tennis and Joe.
Speaker 8 (01:16:52):
They're just sharing a Triple A stadium in Sacramento for
a few years until they get to Vegas. Angels beat
Cleveland again six to train out in Atlanta. The Braves
are one and eight. They were due to play Miami today. Instead,
they'll make up today's right now with a doubleheader. In August,
Pittsburgh beat the Yankees encloser Devin Williams in eleven innings,
five to four. Great game in Philadelphia today, Phil's blue
(01:17:15):
and early lead still beat the Dodgers in reliever Blake
trying and late eight to seven, and Dodger pitcher Blake
Snell goes on the il with shoulder inflammation. Two homers
for Dodgers' right fielder ta Oscar Hernandez, but the Phillies
have a record of seven and two. Padres are eight
and two after beating the Cubs. Dodgers are nine and two.
Giants with the long winning streak. Giants are eight and
(01:17:37):
one and Houston one in ten innings at Minnesota, and
Texas has won five straight. Texas Rangers are eight and two.
They beat Tampa Bay today four to three. About the
Oklahoma City NBA game today, let's state first and foremost
that a few days ago Oklahoma City's record sixty four
and twelve. They're not just mathematically the best team I test,
(01:17:58):
they're the best team in the NBA this year. I
don't know what they're playing for here in the final weeks,
but they got their clocks cleaned for one day, and yes,
they'll play each other again. Lakers at Oklahoma City.
Speaker 4 (01:18:10):
Somebody brought up there, Mike. They could have been because
of the fires.
Speaker 2 (01:18:12):
They canceled the game and that's why they were playing
back to back games. The thunder have done it more
than once.
Speaker 8 (01:18:19):
Apparently, this quote. Baseball series scheduling where the visiting team
stays in town was part of the NBA schedule a year, right,
So I don't think today's game had to do with
the LA fires in January. I think those have already
been made up.
Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
I knew there was something unique about the TV deal,
right or I'm sorry, the scheduling deal that they did
this year. So no.
Speaker 8 (01:18:41):
Less travel. Of course, it just reminds me of in
the NHL for years, nobody wanted to actually travel to Winnipeg,
so you just go there and play two games in
a row and be done with it and then leave Manitoba.
I'm not saying it's that, but yeah, it is. It
is a part of the NBA schedule. So the way
things are now, Oklahoma City is gonna be a number
one in the West. The Houston Rockets are going to
(01:19:02):
be number two. They won again tonight. The Lakers are
looking very good for the three seed because apparently they
only have to go two and two this week, the
final week of the regular season, and the Lakers will
get the three seed. Right after the Lakers, there are
five different teams bunched up that could finish anywhere from
four through eight. In other words, the Denver Nuggets are
(01:19:23):
a good team. They've won a lot of games. It's
still possible that Denver is an eight seed, very possible
playing team, and not even the best of the play
in teams. That's how bunched up it is. Because Denver
lost at home, did themselves no favors tonight, another great
game from Jokic forty one points, triple double, and they
still lose to Indiana. Golden State lost at home to Houston.
(01:19:44):
Notes about that Laker win, by the way, it was
one twenty six to ninety nine. Here that ok Seeds
great at defending. The three Lakers were all over them
from the three point line over fifty percent. They twenty
two to forty from long distance. Oklahoma City has not
lost three straight all season. They've got the rematch with
the Lakers on Tuesday. Not a single free throw attempt
(01:20:07):
for Shake Giljos Alexander today and only two free throw
attempts in his previous game again, Lakers. One week left
and Luca and Lakers are at Dallas on Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:20:19):
My Lakers, baby, let's go. Thanks say hey, calm the
chaos with the shipping software that delivers use code Sports

The way to buying should be obviously, two big stories
developing tonight, Yeah, big investment and Vlad Guerrero Junior. He's
(01:21:08):
the star the Blue Jays get it done. And then
I was digging during the break on the Donovan Mitchell injury. Yeah,
downplayed big time by Donovan Mitchell after the game as
as you might expect, right said he He was hobbling
around in the locker room after the game, according to reporters,
seem to be in some discomfort whenever he said quote
(01:21:30):
I've never been better, I'm going to be I'm going
to let tomorrow be tomorrow and then go from there.
That doesn't sound well. I want to get the one
seed if I'm able to go. I'm able to go.
So there you go.
Speaker 4 (01:21:44):
Do you think there's good.
Speaker 2 (01:21:45):
I'll give you the third story that we'll see if
it's going to be a breaking story or not.
Speaker 3 (01:21:50):
Cooper Flagg. Does he go back to Duk or does
he go to the NBA? Or is that not a
story and he's just going to go to the NBA
And we just hid up a whole bunch of.
Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
Oh, well, you just I mean, these other two stories
are happening. You kind of threw that one in, So
you tell me what you think. I think he's going
to go though. I think he wants to go back
to Duke. Does that make sense?
Speaker 3 (01:22:12):
I think he wants to go back to Duke, but
too many things are pulling him to go to the NBA,
and I think he's just going to give in and
go to the NBA. But I think if everything was
equal and he could just make his decision, I really
believe he would like to go back to Duke for
another year.
Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
I did two. But I also I wish they would
let them wait until the lottery plays out before right,
But that's not going to happen.
Speaker 3 (01:22:39):
Matter of fact, I bet you if he had his druthers.
He'd stay all four years of Duke if he could,
But that's not going to Yeah, that's not going to
be a possibility that there's gonna be on top because
there's just too.
Speaker 2 (01:22:51):
Much for him. Well, okay, what makes you think because
he's from Maine, you don't think he wants to go
up to the NBA or something. I mean, you speak
in definitives here, and I'm agreeing with you. I'm disagreeing
with you because I think you know something, but I
don't know that you do. I think you're playing the
gut too on this one. Right. Just seems like he
likes it there.
Speaker 4 (01:23:10):
Oh, I think he loves it there.
Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
I think he absolutely loves it there and probably would
love to stay all four years. But there's just too
much money on the table for him to not go
to the NBA. Plus, you got to get that clock ticking.
Speaker 4 (01:23:23):
What on five years?
Speaker 3 (01:23:25):
So if you go to a place that you don't like,
you can become a free agent and leave and go
somewhere else after.
Speaker 2 (01:23:30):
That time clock ticking on five years? He's eighteen.
Speaker 3 (01:23:34):
Yeah, Well, I mean you want to be able to
you know, pick a. Can you imagine playing four or
five years for the Washington Wizards. My goodness, man, I
mean no offense to the Wizard fans out there.
Speaker 2 (01:23:47):
Let me see, when was the last time the Wizards
made the playoffs? Do you know off the top of
your head?
Speaker 4 (01:23:51):
When Earl Monroe was on the team with himself?
Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
A little bit more recently? Was there recent than that? Barely?
They lost in the first round of the playoffs to
the seventy six ers the twenty twenty one playoffs. No,
there you go. So they've and they haven't won a
playoff series since the twenty seventeen playoffs. But they went
three and four times in five years from twenty thirteen
(01:24:14):
to twenty and eighteen. Boy, they're awful right now, aren't they. Yeah,
they are, They're awful.
Speaker 3 (01:24:20):
They have the same they have a fourteen percent chance
of getting number one pick as well as Utah, I
believe has a fourteen percent chance of getting the number
one pick.
Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
Also, where would you want to go? Utah or Washington? Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:24:31):
If it's just between those two, I would probably want
to go to Washington.
Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
I kind of done that. I went to a Jazz
game a couple of years ago, and I dug it,
I think I don't want to play there. It's cool
area too. Now, speaking of cool areas, aren't he? There
is one story on the Roman numeral rundown. Now. I
sent this to Ian, but apparently you were wanting to
know something about Ann moving or something like that.
Speaker 4 (01:24:53):
It's not Ann movie in?
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
Is that what you see? I?
Speaker 7 (01:24:57):
Ian?
Speaker 4 (01:24:58):
Can you read that?
Speaker 2 (01:24:58):
Ian?
Speaker 4 (01:24:59):
Can you not read?
Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
I printed it? Can you?
Speaker 4 (01:25:01):
Can you not read what I wrote there?
Speaker 2 (01:25:02):
Or what?
Speaker 7 (01:25:03):
No?
Speaker 9 (01:25:03):
I mean it definitely looks like Anne. I see what
you were going for Annie. But I mean, all right, Annie,
you got me all messed up since I didn't put
a N N. I put C I and and moving.
Speaker 6 (01:25:17):
Well, also, it just C I N. It wouldn't be
c I N N for cinc.
Speaker 2 (01:25:22):
Don't don't make it more complicated for him. I'll put
it out on Twitter and see what the people think.
If you were gonna do something short for Cincinnati, you'd
put C I N N. Is what you would do.
Speaker 6 (01:25:31):
No, it's not necessary.
Speaker 2 (01:25:32):
Well, you definitely wouldn't put a N N, which is
what it looks like you did with that.
Speaker 3 (01:25:36):
And you already thanked them. You already welcome them to
come to Okaoma City.
Speaker 2 (01:25:40):
If you want to have some fun. Go look at
my mentions and read all the stupid people. I mean,
if you ever doubt humanity, then your doubts can be
magnified by reading the mentions to just that one simple tweet.
That was it. It was one simple tweet. I saw
the odds and I kind of, hey, that'd be a
(01:26:00):
fun thing to throw out there on Twitter. Yeah, I'm
really I'm really mad at myself that I did sports
betting dot age kind of dug into the I guess
you could say comments from team vice president Katie Blackburn.
Can you tell me why? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:26:15):
Can you just back up what exactly? Their lease runs
out and they have the option to go with me
wherever they want.
Speaker 2 (01:26:20):
To go exactly what I was just about to lay
out to Sorry, So you're like a little kid. I
just can't wait. I got you, dude, I got you, bro,
And lets you want to dry which I'm god, go ahead,
God good.
Speaker 7 (01:26:33):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:26:33):
They their lease expires in at the end of the
twenty twenty five season, and the bottom line is there's
a little bit of a battle between I think it's
Hamilton County and the amount of money they pay for
a lease. I mean it is, it's quite comical when
you see what the Bengals, the Bengals, Bengals, Bogles, whatever
(01:26:54):
you're gonna call them, what the Bengals play for for
a lease, it's it's comical. And it's all an awesome stadium.
I mean as far as where it's set up and
where it is in downtown, I mean it's it's perfect
because the Red Stadium is right down there too. So basically,
Katie Blackburn made some comments trying to what's the best
way to put this, Oh, I don't know, maybe raise
(01:27:17):
the attention of Bengal fans that hey, guys, by the way,
our lease is up and the people in Hambleton County
are kind of being a holes about it. So the
quote was basically she wasn't shy about the possibility of relocating.
We could, I guess, go wherever we wanted after this
year if we didn't pick up the option. So you know,
(01:27:39):
we'll see. And the term geographical free agents was brought up. Wow, wow,
I don't see Cincinnati ever leaving Cincinnati. See the Bengals
are leaving.
Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
Well, first of all, does Ohio really deserve two teams?
That's the first thing I could ask you. And how
much money is being made by the Cincinnati Bengals. Could
you make more money and a better fan base if
let's say you moved to the Austin, San Antonio area,
or if you move to Salt Lake City now that
(01:28:09):
they have a hockey team out there, or London or
Mexico City or wherever, can you get a better fan base?
Speaker 2 (01:28:18):
That's the question. What's wrong with the what's wrong with
the Bengal fan base?
Speaker 4 (01:28:26):
Is there a Bengal fan base?
Speaker 2 (01:28:29):
You don't want to do this to yourself tonight. Just
I'm asking. We've been doing the show twelve years.
Speaker 3 (01:28:36):
Has there any been any Bengal fan texted into the show?
Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
Yes, Justin and Cincinnati is constantly tweeting that show. No,
I think you're making that up. I don't know what
you're talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:28:49):
I don't think there are Cincinnati fans. I think they're
Cincinnati Reds fans a long time ago. You know, the
Big Red Machine. You may have heard of that, but
that's about it. I don't think there are Cincinnati fans.
Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
We're on in Cincinnati. It's one of our biggest things.
Speaker 4 (01:29:05):
We love Cincinnati, love them, gosh.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
The team has until June thirtieth, to pick up the
first of five different options because they've been paying pay
Course Stadium since it opened in two thousand, our playing
excuse me in pay Course Stadium since it opened in
two thousand. The team's lease expires in twenty twenty six,
but again it doesn't have to expire because the lease
(01:29:31):
includes a total of five to year extensions that can
be exercised by the team itself. So I mean, I
don't think they're going anywhere. Here's a quote that was
in The Athletic this week from Let's see who is
this from Blackburn, Katie Blackburn. She said, we've all been
working hard on the least extension and renovations that might
(01:29:55):
be part of it, and so there's a lot of
great ideas out there. It's just finding a way to
bring it all together. But because these offshore gambling places
are brilliant, right, this place came up with odds for
what would be the next home of the Cincinnati Bingles,
and their three to one favorite, which surprised me, was
(01:30:16):
Saint Louis. There's seventeen full cities that are listed, Saint
Louis was one. I don't know why I didn't.
Speaker 4 (01:30:24):
Want to bring it thereafter, they didn't have sellouts for
the Rams.
Speaker 2 (01:30:29):
Right, but they did have sellouts for the Rams. They
did have a pack for the Rams. Yes, I mean
they absolutely did. And then the Rams started sucking and
people didn't go to the games. It's magical what happens
when your team's bad. Right, Look at the Saint Louis
Cardinals right now. Holy smokes, but Saint Louis is a
three to one favorite. I mean already the Rams won
(01:30:49):
a Super Bowl and went to another one. When they
were there, they had great crowds. But the stadium is
dilapidated and it's old, and they would have to invest
in a new stadium. The funniest one to me on
here is like Austin slash San Antonio. Why is that?
What are they gonna like share a team? You know,
they're not close to each other. It's like an hour
and a half away from each other. That I guess
that's close enough, right, Yeah, we're gonna we're gonna call
(01:31:11):
in the Austin San Antonio gamblers. It'd be great. It's like, well,
they're an hour and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:31:15):
Away from each from San Antonio. Do not go to Austin,
By the way, it's two and a half hours.
Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
It's two and a half. I thought it was an
hour and half two and a half. It's not. They're
not close to each other. So I had to laugh
at that. But that was the second pick at seven.
If you remember, the Raiders kind of flirted with San
Antonio for a while before they went to Vegas. Salt
Lake City is in there at four to one, and
then there was my Oklahoma City at five to one.
Speaker 4 (01:31:36):
Is that a hot city?
Speaker 2 (01:31:37):
Now? Salt Lake considering they got the hockey team? Is
that Austin, man, you got the hockey, you got the
jazz to play there? Uh? University of Utah plays football
games there. They had one of the UFL teams there.
That's a cool Have you been there?
Speaker 4 (01:31:53):
I've been to Salt Lake?
Speaker 2 (01:31:54):
Yeah? Absolutely, if you's like, spend time there Airport and Lee,
Yeah pretty much that. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:31:59):
My my brother in law lives in Park City. They
have a place out there.
Speaker 2 (01:32:02):
Okay, so you've been in Utah and you spent time there. Boy,
your brother in law does much better than weed, doesn't he? Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:32:08):
Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (01:32:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:32:09):
My wife goes skiing there every year. They went skiing
a couple of months ago.
Speaker 2 (01:32:13):
But there's some international options. You remember when the hot
rumor was the Bills were going to Toronto. They even
played a couple of games there one year.
Speaker 4 (01:32:20):
Right, but how could you allow another team to go
to Toronto?
Speaker 2 (01:32:24):
That's what ninety miles eighty miles from Buffalo. I don't know.
I don't know that these are well reeas. Would that
be an infringement on your territory?
Speaker 4 (01:32:35):
I thought, don't you have to be like within outside.
Speaker 2 (01:32:38):
I'm trying to tell you, I don't know how much
work went into this from sports betting baits, I got you,
I got I think they threw some darts and thought
that they could get a little pup out of this.
Mexico City is at eight to one, Orlando's at nine
to one. Like, have you seen Orlando Stadium? Bless her heart?
You can't put a football team in there. Here's the problem.
And here's what sucks for Katie Blackburn or anyone that's
(01:33:02):
trying to get either less of a payment out of
their lease or renovations done. You don't have that Los
Angeles care at dangling anymore. Right. We remember back in
the day, whenever team wanted a new stadium, what would
they do well, you know.
Speaker 4 (01:33:19):
It always threadned that and that kind of.
Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
What even got the bill stadium bill, didn't they start? Well,
you know, maybe we could start talking to La, But
I don't know. I don't think they're going anywhere. I
don't see any city that's just like hot for an
NFL team right now, do you.
Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
Well, I actually do think Oklahoma City would be able
to be the best of the bunch. There be a
natural rivalry with Dallas, I mean, very close in proximity.
Speaker 4 (01:33:45):
But again, aren't you and for chig out a territory.
Speaker 3 (01:33:48):
I don't know if they'd be allowed to, but I
don't know if that's going to be a possibility.
Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
Yeah, no, I don't. I don't know about if there's
any rules as far as how close you can be.
I mean, I'm I'm sure Jerry wasn't happy when the
Houston text Sin's got an expansion franchise. But guess what,
they're still there.
Speaker 3 (01:34:03):
Well, then I'll just put one in what Fort Worth
or put one in uh Plano, Texas or something.
Speaker 2 (01:34:09):
Come on, man, what's your point?
Speaker 3 (01:34:13):
No, you just put one right there and go up
against the Dallas Cowboys. They haven't done that, done anything
in the thirty five years there.
Speaker 2 (01:34:21):
Yeah, exactly, there's I saw more Cowboy fans that were
in my mentions on that tweet that live in Oklahoma
City that are looking for a new team to root for.
You really exactly what it was. But I'll just listen
Cincinnati fans. I don't think the Bengals are going anywhere
because there's nowhere for them to go. And I love
that Oklahoma City is on that list, but we're not
(01:34:42):
going to spend we I'm speaking for Oklahomas City nor
my big little city, Arnie. You need a billionaire to
come and to decide that he's going to bring a
team there. That's what If you have a billionaire, that's
how you're gonna end up getting your team to complain
your See.
Speaker 3 (01:34:59):
Do you see that reason article in Forbes magazine where
they told you how many billionaires live in each state?
Only one lives in Vermont, by the way, how many
live in Oklahoma? How many billionaires do you have out there?
Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
We might have two, I don't know, but that's that's
what it's gonna take. Right, It's gonna take somebody that says, hell,
I want a football team, and then you're probably gonna
have to pay for your own stadium. Where Stan Cronkey did.
Speaker 3 (01:35:24):
Where's all those oil oil billionaires out there in Oklahoma
in IL?
Speaker 2 (01:35:29):
They're giving money in Ile. They want to win a
football right now for Oklahoma and Oklahoma State and Texas
is the world. They don't care about an NFL team.
They want to they want in IL, aren't he That's
what we got, let's go? So I don't. I don't
think they're gonna unless there's a city that magically becomes
crazy for wanting to bring a team.
Speaker 3 (01:35:48):
Do you do you have to put a team in
a May like a May I know it's gonna sound silly,
a major city, or can we give it to it
like a hotbed like another Green Bay, Wisconsin type city
like that?
Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
Well? I mean, if you look on this list, at
least the ones that the betting that the sports betting
site had put together, I mean, it runs the gamut, right.
There's not to me, there's not a single massive big
city on here. Saint Louis, Austin, Salt Lake City, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Portland, Memphis,
(01:36:18):
No you.
Speaker 3 (01:36:19):
No Burlington, Vermont, No Burlington, Vermont though, No Portland, Maine,
nothing like that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:24):
Nah? I don't think you're quite getting this. Portland now
obviously Island, Oregon, but I you know, it just went.
And I'm sorry to get dragged down on this, but
I think it's fascinating because if you look over the
last thirty years, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Saint Louis, Man, these cities,
aren't he were on fire to try to get the
(01:36:45):
NFL there, right. They had Walter Payton. I think Walter
Payton was part of the Saint Louis group. And I
remember rallies that you would have, Hey, the NFL needs
to come bring back the NFL. They would have chance,
and you would have business leaders and community leaders that
would come together and say this is where you need
to be. And I just I mean, I don't see
that right now. Now. If the NFL were to come
(01:37:08):
out and say but thinking about attitude teams, that might
change things right right, But as it stands right now,
I just don't see. I don't see someone lying in wait,
like say Oklahoma City was for an NBA franchise, or
like Vegas is right now for an NBA franchise. You know,
if everyone's going to pass every stadium option out there
(01:37:29):
in the NBA we did it in Oklahoma City because
you're scared to death of someone doing what going to Vegas.
NFL doesn't have that right.
Speaker 4 (01:37:36):
No options out the window now, so you don't have
to worry about that. Remember, other it'd be like a
group getting together.
Speaker 3 (01:37:42):
They'd come up with money right away when there was
a rumor, like if Vegas was on the table, there'd
be a rumor already with money going, oh, yeah, we'll
give you money.
Speaker 4 (01:37:51):
Since Natti come out out, let's do it, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:37:53):
Yeah, And maybe that's part. Maybe the Raiders going to
Vegas kind of imploded that being the second option right
to where all right, you lost La is that threatening place?
Here's Vegas. But when the Raiders went there, that kind
of imploded that.
Speaker 4 (01:38:06):
What about San Diego?
Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
They're on the list, They got longer odds though again
they don't have a stadium. Well that's that's not a problem.
You could get that pretty easily built. Exactly that stadium
got condemned though, I think I think that they had
actually is that what it was? The no no whenever
uh the murf is torn down, Yeah, Steve Seger says,
(01:38:32):
it is the Yeah. But I thought when you said,
I thought you said Honolulu. I thought you were talking
about Hawaii statum Like.
Speaker 8 (01:38:38):
Well, Jack Murphy Stadium does not exist. They rebuilt on
top of the parking lot off size stadium where San
Diego State plays now and.
Speaker 2 (01:38:47):
There you go. Maybe could play in that stadium. But no, Arnie,
what do you mean it's not a problem to build
a stadium. What do you think Cinnati is fighting right now?
Speaker 3 (01:38:55):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:38:56):
No, My option is always attacked the tourists.
Speaker 4 (01:38:59):
That's what I do.
Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
Quarter percent sales tax I get that thing built in
the second. What do you think, exactly, Yeah, that's exactly
what Vegas does.
Speaker 9 (01:39:06):
You better believe that taxing is a touchy subject right now,
right exactly?
Speaker 2 (01:39:10):
Can you just steer clear of that? All right? We
got a break. When we come back, we'll get to
your tweets next. It's already in plank. And by the way,

(01:40:33):
presets on a radio. Now I think those preset Fox
go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:40:38):
Well, you could also hit on a guy's name and
they'll give you a direct phone number. Let's call that
guy twenty four to seven, too, pretty cool?
Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
Do that and preset Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app,
and it will always pop up on the top of
your screen.
Speaker 4 (01:40:53):
Are you crazy?
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:40:54):
Can you imagine if they did that to us, where
any listeners could just call us up twenty four to
seven and argue with us on sports.
Speaker 2 (01:41:03):
Well, I wouldn't mind it if it could just go
straight to voicemail. I just sitting right to my voicemail
so I can just go listen to them all instead
of having to answer every call.
Speaker 3 (01:41:14):
When I when I was on another network, I accidentally
gave out my home phone number instead of the.
Speaker 2 (01:41:21):
Station number by accident. How that Did you have to
change your number or did it work out? Okay? No?
Speaker 3 (01:41:26):
I mean at first I got like, out of know,
like thirty forty calls. They were coveted pretty fast and furious,
but I didn't you know, some people would couldn't believe
it was really me, and then some people would just
breathe on the other.
Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
End or something.
Speaker 4 (01:41:42):
But after a while it stopped. I didn't have to
change my number.
Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
The good old days of someone calling you and just
breathing out of the phone. Right. A couple of quick
tweets here before the Sager's update, our man mustang mania.
We brought up Val Kilmer movies. He writes, I've heard
a ton of people talking about Kilmer movies, but no
one mentions the Saint with the incredible Elizabeth show. Oh
that was a good one. I would see that. Check
(01:42:07):
it out, you'll like it. Uh, Colin writes, and Arnie's
defense beyond the city of Cincinnati, is there a real
Bengal fan base? I'm gonna say no. You're gonna say no.
I'm just and you can't prove me wrong, So I'm
gonna say no. Okay, is there really a Cincinnati fan
base in Cincinnati? Yes? Of course, that's a joke. That's
(01:42:30):
a joke. Relax, Abigail Rights. Believe it or not. The
Wizards have a great group of young players. Flag would
be a perfect fit to what they are building there.
They're closer than their record shows. They just need to grow.
How many Wizards could you name without looking right now?
Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
I pulled this up last night, okay, and I still
don't remember. Though, I still don't remember, So that doesn't
make a difference. And the one person who myself was
on the team is another team anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:42:58):
Who was your first guess? Do you remember? No, I
don't even remember anymore. I was talking about it last night.
Oh well you started, you started doing this segment last night.
You were preparing for it. Uh, Marcus smartest there? So
there is smartest there. Actually I was talking about him
in Memphis, and that's where I said Jordan Poole. I
(01:43:19):
forgot they didn't cut Chris Middleton after they made that
trade and brought him over a figure the wow. Anyway,
I can't pretend to have watched any Wizards games outside
of when they get smoked by forty against the Lakers
and the Thunder, but I'll take your word for it.
Speaker 3 (01:43:37):
I'm wondering if they'd be popular get if we went
back to call them the Bullets.
Speaker 2 (01:43:40):
You know, Oh Ike, do you remember how long ago
that was.
Speaker 4 (01:43:46):
I used to have a jacket that said Washington Bullets.
Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
Well you're not allowed aware of that anymore.
Speaker 6 (01:43:51):
I trade for John Morant if they're going to be
the bullets, right?
Speaker 2 (01:43:54):
Oh wow? Do you realize that it's been since nineteen
ninety seven that they became the Wizards. It doesn't see
that far ago far. That was thirty years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:44:09):
They used to have some great players. I brought up
West un Celton, Earl Monroe and people like that.
Speaker 2 (01:44:14):
Dave they didn't have. I was gonna say Dave Bing,
but he played for Detroit. Maybe you're going back, so
they have to a great play. I mean, people barely
remember Magic Johnson. Okay, and now you're going back. You're like, oh,
the old hook scoop shot. I've been won more from Emmett.
You're right. I think the city that should take an
(01:44:36):
NFL team that would make the most sense is Toronto.
It would make sense for the NFL to want to
expand in other countries and other sports traveling to Toronto already,
so it would be a lot easier. I would counter
with this. We did that. We did that. We messed
around with the idea of Buffalo playing games in Toronto.
(01:44:57):
They've played a couple of games there, right, Yeah, in
a season.
Speaker 3 (01:45:00):
I want to say they've played twice A see twice
in Toronto.
Speaker 2 (01:45:07):
During Well, you live up there, you should know all this. Yeah,
two thousand and eight season through twenty twelve. They were
originally scheduled to play eight games in what was called
the Bills Toronto Series. You know who Once bon Joviy
wanted bon Jovie wanted to move them to Toronto. I
believe he wanted to buy the Bills. Well, I don't
(01:45:27):
know that Toronto's gonna happen. But again, there's not a
There's not a place like Vegas is in the NBA
right now. If you need a new stadium in a market,
you just say, oh, you know, we can move to
Vegas and you'll get that new stadium. NFL doesn't have
that they did with La for a while, So good
luck Cincinnati. I just I don't think you're gonna get
(01:45:48):
what you want out of this, either for the city
or for the team. But I'd love to see him
where I could drive every single home game I want
live on you. You'd be in heaven, would you not?
Or what I'd be all over it. I'd become an
oak Lahoma City banded. See we have the thunder. It
made me the lightning at all. We'll workshop something. But anyway,
(01:46:09):
good luck Cincinnati. I hope the mngals don't go anywhere.
Speaking of not going anywhere, dis Sega isn't going anywhere
except for right here, right now, to get you caught
up on everything in the world of sports, because everything's
a final, right.
Speaker 8 (01:46:20):
Steve, Everything is a final. We will get to the
baseball in a moment, but I must mention I mentioned
this to the earlier show here. The Masters starts on Thursday.
They finished, I got my pick coming up, well, okay,
hold on while I get a pen. The Texas Open
finished in San Antonio today. Brian Harmon was the winner
by three strokes. There was a guy named Andrew Novak
(01:46:40):
who was in contention. He bogeyed the fifteenth hole and
then bogied seventeen and bogueied eighteen, which meant instead of
tying for second place, he tied for third. He had
a par pot that he left short on the final
hole of the tournament today, and that's what dropped him
from second to third. The difference on that one putt
(01:47:01):
was a payout of two hundred and eighty five thousand dollars.
Oh my god, a tie second check versus a tie
for third check two eighty five k out. Meanwhile, Vladimir
Guerrero Junior has waited and he's gotten a contract extension
of fourteen years from the Blue Jays tonight, pending a physical.
New York Post says the Blue Jays offered to him
(01:47:23):
before last season was around three hundred million dollars. He's
getting five hundred million. No wonder he was gonna go geez,
no deferred money, full no trade clause. Reportedly for a
guy who turned thirty six last month. Last year thirty
home runs, one hundred three RBIs you see what has
happened in baseball in the last twelve years. He said
no to that money, and then he had his best
(01:47:45):
year on the field, and then Juan Soto signed that
ridiculous contract with the Mets in the offseason, and all
the other star players say thank you very much. Speaking
of star players, Oklahoma City may have lost a couple
this weekend, but they still have shay giljers Alex. He
had twenty six points, nine assists, one turnover. They did
lose badly at home to the Lakers one twenty six
(01:48:06):
ninety nine, but the streak still goes. He scored at
least twenty points in seventy one straight games. That is
just silly. Lakers will be at Oklahoma City again on Tuesday,
and then the Lakers and Luca are at Dallas on Wednesday,
Luka Doncic thirty points.
Speaker 2 (01:48:22):
In the blowout win.
Speaker 8 (01:48:23):
Today, Lakers were up in the second quarter seventy three
to forty four g The NBA regular season ends next Sunday.
Lakers looking good for the three seed in the West.
Apparently they just have to go two and two this
final week to secure it because Denver lost at home
tonight and Golden State lost at home tonight. Indiana won
at Denver, won twenty five one twenty. Nikola jokicch a
(01:48:45):
triple double, including forty one points in defeat. Houston was
a winner at Golden State one zh six ninety six.
Steph Curry one of ten, shooting just three points. Draymond
Green won a five shooting and five fouls. Milwaukee won
without Yannis Antennacumpo sitting out with a bad shoulder. They
won a close one at New Orleans, New York beat
Phoenix Jalen Brunson returned after missing a month with a
(01:49:05):
sprained ankley at fifteen points one twelve ninety eight, the
final of the Suns. Despite forty points from Devin Booker,
Phoenix from three point range was four for thirty four.
Compare that to the Lakers day from long distance. Lakers
were twenty two of forty on three pointers. At OKC,
Sacramento got thirty seven points from Zach Lavine and one
(01:49:27):
at Cleveland. Bulls got thirty seven points from Kobe White
and won at Charlotte dominance from Yukon. In the national
championship game. In women's hoops, Connecticut beat South Carolina eighty
two fifty nine, so for coach Gino Oriema his twelfth
national title. Yukon beat three number one seeds in a
row to win this tournament. And we'll repeat the stat
(01:49:50):
on the men's side for Houston, it could come true
tomorrow night. We mentioned it last week. No team has
won the men's title by two things, getting to the
fi by playing the highest possible seed each round, and
then beating two one seeds in the final four. Houston
can be the first. Don't say Arizona arny because I
looked it up.
Speaker 2 (01:50:10):
Yes, I was about I'm gonna call bs that. Now
you're working to go ahead, let me here.
Speaker 8 (01:50:15):
They beat a ten seed to win the regional final.
Duke was already out, so they did not play the
highest possible seed every round. They also played a twelve
seed in the second round. It's not even close to true.
By the way, the initial ratings were good for the
Final Four on CBS last night. The two games averaged
over fifteen million viewers. Of course, that is more than
(01:50:35):
the cable got it last year when they had the
Final Four, but the tournament as a whole, if you
go by what's the average number of viewers per window,
like there's an early game in the first round, and
then four games on four different channels in the next
day part and et cetera, they're averaging about ten million
viewers per window. If you add up all the channels
(01:50:57):
in this tournament. There aren't TV shows that get ten
million viewers these days. So if you're wondering why the
NCAA gets almost nine hundred million dollars a year for
the broadcast rights to March Madness, need we say more?
Speaker 4 (01:51:10):
What do you think the hockey game got this morning
before they scored a goal?
Speaker 8 (01:51:14):
I would be curious about that, But I think what
really plays against them is it wasn't on a regular channel.
And I think that even sports fans don't know that
TNT carries.
Speaker 2 (01:51:24):
Hockey because he carries hockey.
Speaker 8 (01:51:27):
Thank you exactly. ABC was carrying the women's basketball finals,
so they didn't have hockey today, and TNT and True
TV and whatever. Some of those double headers have been
averaging three hundred thousand nation or five hundred thousand. It'll
be more than that, but let's not go crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:51:46):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (01:51:46):
But yes, Alex Ovechkin of the Caps to get career
goal number eight ninety five and Today's lost most in
NHL history. Danny Hamlin the NASCAR winner. Boston Red Sox
swept the Cardinals in a doubleheader. Boston's won five straight
Texas one, It's fifth in a row. Pittsburgh beat the
Yankees in eleven, Houston one in ten at Minnesota, and yes,
(01:52:06):
the Blue Jays are giving Vladimir Guerero Junior a fourteen
year extension. Toronto lost to one at the Mets.
Speaker 2 (01:52:12):
Back to you, thanks a lot, Steve, have a great
week man, awesome stuff tonight, and Steve, I was. I
was listening this morning to Fox Sports Radio. Whenever the
record was broken, Dan Byer and Mike Harmon were on,
and Isaac Lohenkront was doing the updates. Whenever he said, hey, history,
history has happened, and Harmon was surprised, that they stopped
(01:52:34):
the game down to celebrate it, like there was an
audible I am Mike, I mean you can, but it
seemed like almost mocking. It's like, what are we doing here,
We're stopping the game. And there's a part of me
that agrees with them. But then it's also this is
a rather historic moment for hockey. I mean, it's it's you.
It's one of the biggest I guess you could say
(01:52:56):
honors biggest records and some thought would never be broken.
So did you have any problem with the stopping down
of the game.
Speaker 3 (01:53:05):
Nothing whatsoever. And I knew people were going to criticize
the Islanders. Was the Islanders shook his head afterwards. Also,
but you should have done that, I know. I think
they did it absolutely class It was just classy. It
was just a great ceremony. They should have stopped the game.
It was a big moment for hockey. It was a big,
(01:53:25):
big deal.
Speaker 2 (01:53:26):
It was a big thing here breaking that record that
we thought was unbreakable for so long.
Speaker 3 (01:53:31):
I'm glad they did it. My wife was totally into it.
She y had tears in her eyes. As soon as
they scored the goal, she screamed, they scored, He scored.
They didn't show it again for a while, but I
thought the celebration was great. The ceremony was great, you know,
the way he just hugged everybody. So I'm glad they
(01:53:51):
did it. I thought it was pretty cool. And you know,
it was as good that hockey kind of got the
center stage because nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
Really was going on at that time. To be honest, Yeah,
it's weird, as you said, timing, because it was I
guess you could say relatively early. Yeah. Speaking of Alexavachkin,
he was pretty happy about things, and I think you
can kind of understand why he just set a record
that many people thought might not might not ever be broken.
And I mean, I just I love the call too.
(01:54:20):
By sign to Wilson shentered up.
Speaker 3 (01:54:22):
Oh that God has any stars, He's stars alex O.
Speaker 1 (01:54:27):
That's Dean Star Saint ninety five.
Speaker 2 (01:54:31):
There's a new goal starring champion and.
Speaker 1 (01:54:35):
His name is Alexander.
Speaker 2 (01:54:38):
Oh, that's Dean. He has done it here on Long Island.
His teammates for him. There is but one Alexander. The greats,
the greatest to ever do it in National Hocktey League history.
That's pretty good. Yeah, that's awesome as far as great
(01:55:00):
moments and big time calls go, that's pretty good. All right,
Arnie's already tired of me bringing this up. He wants
his pick, so let's get him next. When we come
back to the tyrack dot Com Studios, Arnie's picks, we'll
take us home on Fox Sports Radio. Great stuff tonight,
Arnie Span You're great stuff tonight. Steve seger Ian Roddy
is always Mary, Matt crushing it, and the millions and
(01:55:22):
millions of editors behind the scenes making sure we have
great audio like this from alex Ovechkin. Yes, one more cut,
just for just for me please, sure, boy said all
the time. It's a team sport.
Speaker 4 (01:55:37):
With all my boys, the whole organization, the fans that
train yours coaches, I would never stand there and obviously
that would never.
Speaker 2 (01:55:46):
Pass a great one. So fellas, thank you very much,
illow you so much like this show. If it wasn't
for Mary, for Ian, for the sake for all the fellas, Arnie, yes,
wouldn't be here right now of course not. Congrats to
the only Alexander the great Arnie taking away. It's time
for your picks. What do you got for us on
(01:56:06):
a very sports coming up. It is slim Pickens, my friend.
So maybe just on a second, what are you talking
about the week of the NBA season. You got the
National Championship? Who cares about the final week in the
NBA majora Slim Pickens bs for July whenever we have
baseball and that's it.
Speaker 4 (01:56:26):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:56:27):
Well, in case you're wondering, Cooper Flag is going to
go to the NBA. So he's going to declare that.
I don't know if it'll be before yet. No, he
hasn't declared it yet, but I think he will. I
don't think that's much of a choice there. Also, we
got the Masters this week in honor of Dan Bayer.
You know, Dad Buyer's taking days off to go watch
(01:56:47):
the Masters?
Speaker 2 (01:56:48):
Is that crazy or what I do it? Is he
getting to go? I don't think he's going to the Masters.
But see he's I mean, he's a weekday guy. Those
guys are all rich man, They're just they're sweating money,
so he can take days off. He's not a week
in warrior like that. Well I guess he is.
Speaker 4 (01:57:06):
Have you ever been Have you ever been to the Masters?
Speaker 7 (01:57:08):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:57:08):
Have not?
Speaker 3 (01:57:10):
An old network I used to work for. They used
to go all every year, did you go? I was
supposed to go one year, I had to back out
at the last minute.
Speaker 2 (01:57:19):
Why would you back out from going? I forget what
it was.
Speaker 3 (01:57:22):
But at the end of the tournament, they put the
media people's names in a hat or whatever, and they
draw names so you could actually play on the course
on that Monday before they repair everything. I guess somebody
put my name in even though I wasn't there, and
they drew my name out.
Speaker 2 (01:57:41):
Oh my gosh. I wouldn't have played anyway. I don't
care about that. No big deal to me.
Speaker 4 (01:57:47):
But anyway, let's say that.
Speaker 2 (01:57:50):
He absolutely would. You would, just so you could tell
people that you don't care about it, but you still
played the Masters. I would again, dude, that'd be such
a power move.
Speaker 3 (01:58:00):
I would have said, I said. I would have said, Dan,
do you want to play for me instead?
Speaker 2 (01:58:03):
Dan Meyer?
Speaker 3 (01:58:04):
Would you give me a hun Ski and maybe we
can work that out or something like that. Word Rory McElroy,
who has not won a major since twenty fourteen. Guess what,
plank mm hmmm, He's gonna win it this weekend. You
got Rory, I got Rory's my pick out there. Let's
(01:58:27):
get to the big game on Monday, all right, what
we're all here for. I'm riding the Houston Cougars bandwagon,
my friend.
Speaker 4 (01:58:37):
What a great victory over Duke. Who would have seen
that coming? Twenty five?
Speaker 3 (01:58:41):
Maybe fifty to one is Todd Ferman told you when
there was less than a minute left in the game,
they pull out the victory. We're finally going to ever
buzzer beater. Chris Houston wins it sixty nine sixty eight
over Florida nine sixty eight with a three pointer at
(01:59:03):
the buzzer to get the victory.
Speaker 4 (01:59:06):
And one other note, it is good.
Speaker 3 (01:59:08):
I'm happy to see that Coop from the Ben Maller
Show is still alive because we got that mixed up.
Speaker 4 (01:59:16):
So that's good to see.
Speaker 2 (01:59:17):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:59:17):
So there you have my picks too, with them as
you please, no longer strictly Fred Entertainment purposes only. So there.
Speaker 2 (01:59:22):
I mean, you've got Luca returning to Dallas. I mean,
you've got a lot of stuff going on, and you
just no sell everything else. I don't get it.
Speaker 3 (01:59:33):
There's only this. It's the final week. Wait till the
playoffs start. Who cares about the final three. You don't
think it's a big deal about well, I'm with you
on that one hundred percent. But you don't think it's
a big deal with Luca going back to Dallas this week?
Speaker 2 (01:59:45):
Come on? Not really? Okay, I not think you're a
crazy person. I think you're crazy. I've been told that before.
If you don't believe that, on let's see what is
that Wednesday night? Yeah, on Wednesday night when the Lakers
go to Dallas, it's not gonna be the biggest show
in the sports world. It's huge. Man, It's one of
(02:00:09):
the most shocking trades that's ever happened. I'm just gonna know.
Sell it.
Speaker 4 (02:00:13):
By the way, can you real quickly, because I know
we're running out of time. Read what Josh just sent in?
Speaker 2 (02:00:17):
Well, go ahead and read it. What do you think
of Carl Edwards and Casey Mears saying NASCAR fixed races?
I think they were joking. Okay, okay, forget about it.
I mean again, there's no way, there's no way you
can fix races in NASCAR. You just couldn't. But I
will tell you this much, I'm here for it. I'm
(02:00:39):
here for it if they can, if they can find
out that there was true race manipulation. I am all
about it all right. Hey, have a great week. You
too much too big. Ben Mallet is coming up next
to the entire crew. I'm Chris Plank. We'll see you
next Sunday night right here on Fox Sports Radio.
