Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Let's go stinking Yes go big Boys. Right after it
got a big show and I got to count of
two guests. Wow. Mark Medean is going to join us
in about fifteen minutes now to put a rap on
the thunder Wind that Martin Wise just told you about
and about my OCMA City sooners. Let's go, there you go,
And then Todd Furman will join us coming up next
(00:24):
hour to talk about what Aaron Rodgers signing with the
Steelers means from a under win lost total, if there
is anything he sees that could change the face of
the Stanley Cup Finals. Todd's been all over that little
NASCAR talk and obviously NBA Finals and uh, we're even
now at a game of piece are and he won
twenty three one oh seven the thunder I found this
(00:45):
to be a weird stat. ESPN was all over and
the ABC broadcast was too. Five players with fifteen or
more points in a finals game for the first time
since the twenty nineteen Raptors did it. And it lighty
in my mind. I'm like, okay, balance scoring that that's good,
but it just seemed odd that in the last what
is that like seven final six finals that we haven't
had at least five guys have fifteen or more points
(01:08):
in a game for one team, So kudos in that front.
And I don't know what they gave Aaron Wiggins before
the game started, but oh he was awesome. And Alex Caruso,
even though Caruso is good to make one and then
miss one and then make one and then miss one,
but he was really good tonight. And the Thunder played
a complete game instead of kind of bowing out in
the last three minutes.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Obviously they had to win. I mean, they can't go
down oh two. They gave one away and they're going
to fight back from that. Now now it's a whole
different series. One apiece. They gotta take one in Indiana.
But they played great tonight. You know, once they put
the foot on Indiana's throat, they finished them off.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
I mean, what did you want them to do.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
They didn't let the Pacers climb back in this one
great second period that just set the pays out there.
Payser's never able to get into it back after that.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, you know it was I got to give credit
to someone that took a lot of heat of the
last kind of forty eight hours and that is at
home gren. Now, he had a good game, yeah, from starting.
You know, he kind of disappeared a little bit midway
through the third and the fourth, but again they didn't
really need him all that much at that point. But
I'll say this much. You mentioned the second quarter and
(02:13):
when OKC outscored him thirty three to twenty one and
kind of went on that late second quarter run that
really pulled things away. It was all chet Holmgren. I mean,
it's like he came to life for OKC. Had what
nine points during that stretch.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Along too that should have been a three. Then he
had a two pointer, he had the dunk, he was
on he was on fire good.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
I mean, he was confident, he was hitting his shots,
so he did.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
You're right about that about disappearing, But in that little
bit of a stretch he was fantastic.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
No, no, no. And when I when I say disappearing, like
I said, it's very it's a very minimal complaint right now,
because I guess I gotta be honest with you and
I talked about this on the Friday Night Show a
little bit, Arnie, and it's it's kind of a tough
admission to make, but I have completely undersold Indiana through
this whole thing. I just I expected, okay see to
(03:04):
roll in both games kind of like they did in
Game two tonight. I expected them to do that in
Game one. I didn't. You know, I've seen Pacers basketball.
I've watched a lot of them, but I don't think
I've given the respect they need for their bench and
for their depth, and for what Miles Turner can bring
to them. Arnie he is, He's a game changer inside.
And you know, okay See to counter that went with
(03:24):
two bigs, and they've done that quite a bit throughout
the season with Artenstein and Chad Holmgren. But I mean,
I didn't even feel comfortable late whenever they finally kind
of tapped out with what about three and a half
minutes to go, But I kept thinking, you know, Halibert
hit a three and I was like, oh, geez, here
we go. But that's just a really good basketball team, man,
And I think they're I think they're showing it in
(03:46):
not only taking Game one, but putting themselves in a
position now to where this is the best of five
series and you have home court advantage.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Okay, yeah, I don't want to be the grammar police.
Could I just correct your grammar for just go ahead?
When you said this is a very good basketball team,
I think what you're meant to say was this was.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
A very good bad So this loss tonight ended it.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
No, Well, when they lose Miles Turner right in the
off season, which it certainly looks like they're going through.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Well, well, hold on, why do you care about the
off season? We're talking about Game three coming. I'm just
saying because you're saying, well, I need to give a
little more respect maybe for the rest of the series. Yes,
that's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
It.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Once they lose Miles Turner, it's gonna be all downhill
for the Pacers. Why you got him going to season? Yeah,
you broke. I'm sorry that I got to go and
where I'm sorry the Knicks again this off season?
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (04:33):
No, actually was I can't remember off the top of
my head. I had this story about where he was
going to go. I'll have to find it for your mind.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
I didn't. Well, they keep talking about the Lakers being
a possibility for him. I didn't have that one either.
I can't. Jeez, I'm gonna pull it up Pistons have
been mentioned as well. De Troit was it? That? Was
it Detroit? But they keep saying that they're going to
offer him the max contract, the pace. The Pistons are
going to offer him what he feels like he's worth,
(05:01):
and he could five years. Now it's not not max contract,
I should say, but for the value five years, one
hundred and sixty million dollars. I mean, that's a pretty
good deal.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
That good deal, actually, I think so, I didn't know
what the problem was.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
That is a pretty good deal. So, and maybe are
you falling for NBA Central again? Is that you know
the one that told you about the thirty dollars fines
in the WNBA that you fell for? Did I fall
for that? I didn't know that. No, Yeah, that was fake.
But the Pistons and the Lakers are being talked about
his miles. I don't think he's going anywhere though, Arnie,
(05:33):
in the case of this series and of this game.
I mean, I gotta I gotta tell you something, man,
He's I'm a Lakers fan, right, I'm a Lakers fan.
I'm a thunder Bandwagon guy. I want him in LA.
I mean, I think I would want him if I
was in New York. I would want him in Detroit
because he can be the missing piece for a team
(05:54):
that needs a big right, He's something special. I had
no idea. I have not given him the credit he deserves.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
No.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Yeah, this comes after they lost tonight, so obviously he
didn't have his best night. He did put he did
put your boy Hartenstein on a poster at one point
midweight quarter. But holy smokes, I don't think the Pacers
are out of it. I think this is what the
thunder are more capable of. And Arnie, I don't know
if this is maybe a homeeristic take or not, but
(06:20):
I don't think we've seen the best of both teams yet.
And I sure as heck don't think we've seen anywhere
near the best of what Indiana can be at any
point of the series, outside of what maybe the final
six minutes of the fourth quarter in Game one. No,
it's gonna come down.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
I thought it was gonna be like a five game
gentleman sweep. It still it could be, but it certainly
looks like it could go six or even seven with
the way these teams, you know, play on the road.
And we'll see if we'll see if they're able to
steal what on the road and get this thing back
up at two two as they go back to Okse
And and by the way, that's a public service announcement
(06:57):
for the three people that are actually watching the NBA final?
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Is that what the ratings were, Chris? I, so you
think we shouldn't talk about it the rest of no
I did. I didn't say that.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
We have.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
We try to do everything for all our listeners, that's right.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
So the three listeners that will actually watch the game,
I don't mind talking for them, I don't.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
I'll just say I have no offense for it. You
can doge it all you want. But I watched, you
watched it, you watched it tonight. Why are you getting
you watched it in the studio? The rating four point
seven rating, eight point nine million, viewers were eleven million,
same as last year.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Or since nineteen eighty eight, and they've been keeping meals
except for the pandemic games, So forget about Is it
strictly because of the market or and I wrote this down,
is it because of the market or no intrigue or
no great storylines or no villain.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
Or combination of everything? I know?
Speaker 3 (07:54):
You tell me what's the biggest factor for people not
tuning in?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Don't know, dumb, you don't like, you're an idiot. I mean,
it's just if you don't like the NBA. I get
it right. You don't like the NBA and you don't
want to watch it. That's captain obvious stuff. If you're
not watching it because it's Oklahoma City and Indiana, then
you're a moron. Well, you don't appreciate good basketball, you're
(08:19):
a cas Well that's fine.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
If it was like the Lakers and the Knicks instead
of eight point whatever million, I bet you'd be about
fifteen million. I mean, I think you get almost double
the viewership on maybe like that.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Maybe so, But I like, I've told you this all along.
I got no defense for you. I don't know what
to say except that it doesn't make a lot of
sense to me. I think. Also, no storylines, no villains. Okay,
when you say no storylines or villains, what this is
one of the most successful regular season teams ever in
the history of the NBA. I mean, they've got they've
(08:56):
got the MVP, Yarnie, they've got the MVP, right, they
got Chet Holmgren. It was just I guess weird to
look at got like an Eric the actor kind of
vibe to him, right, And then you add to it,
Indiana has been the absolute Houdini of these entire playoffs, right, So,
I mean even their dad got in trouble. Haliburton's dad
got in trouble for running out on the court. So
(09:19):
I don't know what you mean by don't have a villain,
don't have storylines, because I think this thing is littered
with villains and storylines. I you know, I And you
make a good point on that.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
I'm talking more about just like the you know how
like Lebrons hated or you know, just that guy that
you know, they even Brunson is more.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Of a villain than anybody you will see in this series.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
I mean, they just hate that guy from across the NBA.
I'm talking about villains like that man. And you're right
about that. There's I mean, you know Haliburton's dad, but
that thing's kind of long and forgotten, and they're he's
back at the games now, you know.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
I guess, I guess I don't understand what more people
would want. If you want to say, hey, I just
not into the NBA, that's fine. I mean I've got.
I worked this week with a buddy of mine that's
a very talented producer. I'm like, hey, you want to
try to go to one of the NBA games. He's like, no,
I have no care for the NBA. I'm sure there's
that faction, right, I'm sure there's that faction, But I
(10:15):
think there's an even larger faction that is very casual
with the NBA Arntie, and they haven't watched it as
closely as maybe it's been watched. Maybe they need to
have the familiar face of Lebron like you said, or
Steph Curry or I don't know. I mean, it's not
like they were doing record ratings last year whenever the
Celtics went and won it.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
The NFL combine watching people run around on their underwear
draws better ratings.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
The end well the draft, but Combine did not drop
better ratings. Doesn't draft the drafted. The draft was right
up there with it, but they put it on three networks,
so they had to combine them all. I just I
don't get it. I don't have an answer for you.
I won't have an answer for you except to say
it just doesn't make a lot of sense. To me
because I think this is I think there's been a
fun series already through two games. I think it's just
(10:59):
going to get better. You.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Does it personally bother you or know that?
Speaker 4 (11:04):
No?
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Because personally bothers me? Is your disrespect? Whenever you say, oh,
is it the Oklahoma City Sooners? That I think that's
BS for a national radio show. Guy, No, I do.
I think it's trash that you would come on and
say that they're the thunder if anything, they or they
did what your knicks can't do. You guys are celebrating
in the streets when you make the Eastern Conference finals,
and then when you do it, you fire your coach.
(11:25):
So at least show at least show respect to the
team that's playing in the finals and knows how to
act because they've been there more recently than you.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
You wouldn't be talking like that. If we were doing
a show live in front of all those nick fans
out on Seventh, I.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Would stand in front of all of their faces and
tell them that they're all soft because they're out celebrating
a trip to the Eastern Conference finals. Show some respect,
get out of everybody's way, go get a go to work.
Don't you have to work the next day? Or maybe
I think it was a Friday night, maybe that's Saturday off. Yeah,
what what a great franchise. You finally get a guy
that takes you to the Eastern Conference finals and your
(11:58):
party and you're climbing light poles and your fire him.
Yeah that sounds should be But you know what though,
at first off, by the way you scoffed at when
we brought it up last week, you scoffed like, no, no, no, no,
I'm not gonna fire him. Yeah he gets fired, Like see,
I told you, well, you.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Know, a couple of things on that first of all,
And I'm at first I was upset about it. I'm like,
come on, man, what are you doing. We've got this,
we got pretty far. We want to give it another year.
It just, uh, you know, you know, losing that first
game really kind of set the total. It was nothing
that Thibodeau did. And then I started hearing all the
stuff and thinking about all the stuff. I guess there
(12:33):
were a lot of players that just didn't want to
play for him anymore. And I guess there was a
lot of players that were upset about all the minutes
usually you're complaining about the lack of minutes that you're getting,
But I guess the starters were playing for so many minutes,
and I don't understand something, Chris. I mean, that was
always the knock against Thibodeau that he brings the starters
way too long.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
You think he would have adjusted.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
You think he would have said, hey, I got to
give him a little bit of a break. Sure, there's
guys that are gonna go eighty two games, the Josh
Hart's of the world and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
He loves it.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
It's, you know, like a picture is an innings eater.
You know, he's like a minute eater. He's a games
eater somebody like that. You gotta have people like that.
But you can't play the same six or seven over
and over again.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
You had to get a little bit of debty.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
He didn't change his ways, and I guess there was
a lot of dissension behind his back and a lot
of the players wanted him gone. So boom, he's gone.
I don't know who's gonna replace him. None of the
names really excite me, to be honest with you. Not
happy about it, but you know what I think about
NBA coaches Chris right.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
You know you could do it? Yeah, exactly, roll out
the ball.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
I heard, I was, I was, what's his face for
Indiana of the coach Rick Carlisle, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Yeah, I heard him go.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Listening to him, he goes, we got ten seconds of
this Shoan clock, ten seconds of the John clock, ten
seconds and that was all he said.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
I could do that.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
I can yell we got ten seconds left, but your
name in the mix. I think I should, man, I
probably could. All all you do is roll out the
ball like you think you would have called the play
with ten seconds left or something like that. Call a play,
Let's run it this, let's run play number three, let's
do that. Well, we don't have play number three. You
only taught us two plays, coach, So I don't know.
(14:19):
Nobody excites me on this New York Dad. I gave
you a list of about like.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
I got real quick before we grab a break, and
Mark Medina joins us, Yeah, we go to one, then.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
We can spring up number thirteen on that list.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Jason Kidd, Oh, well, I thought you were going to
go to Roman numeral thirteen.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
No, No, I'm just curious. Is he officially at I
was talking to Bernie about this. I thought that Dallas said, no,
we're not giving you permission to talk to him. So
I just said, Okay, well, I guess he's not getting
the job. Did I misunderstand that or what?
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Chris? I don't think that that they've anything official has
been made. There was a report through bleacher Report where
they're expecting it to be denied, but I don't think anything. Yeah,
Mark Stein, who's a pretty well placed sourced Uh does
that make sense? Well placed? He said that he's got
(15:10):
well placed observers that said the MAVs will turn down
any Knicks request to interview Kid, much like the Rockets
would deny any request form a dooka right now.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
So you can't get the job if you're not going
to interview. So they're gonna put the cabach on that.
That means you can take Jason Kidd out of the
mixeror no?
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Can they still get it that that's a report. That's
a report, right and Dallas has that has that right
right in his contract. So unless they want to start
talking about I don't know if we want to use
the term trades or some sort of incentive to you know,
have the opportunity to talk to him. It's like, hey,
we'll give you our first round pick. I don't know
(15:47):
in order to be able to hire Jason Kidd. I
don't know how big a video that would be, but
I do think there would be interest there. I know,
people like, oh, why, why why You've got Cooper Flag
coming in and got Anthony Davis, you got Kyrie Irving?
Do we know how in Jason Kid was on the
Luca trade? And then add to it, that path in
the East, aren't you over the next couple of years
is a lot smoother than that path in the West
(16:07):
is ever going to be, regardless of who you've got
on your rosters. So I mean, I get it where
the Knicks would say no, and where the Rockets would
say excuse me, the Mavericks would say no. But man,
that that's gotta be enticing to know that you'd go
to a place and they're gonna try to bring in
another superstar and you're in the East with the Celtics
minus there guy, and you'd feel pretty good of Miles
(16:27):
Turner leaves Indiana.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Right, I've always got a bad job. Well, I want
to see when the rumors will start coming out. Another
reason that Jason Kidd left. Was they worked out Cooper Flagg?
I guess they had worked out or the well he's
going to work him out, Yeah, go to work. Didn't
didn't think he was the best of all the best.
Didn't think he was worthy of You know that's going
to come out, right, You know that's going to happen.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Oh yeah, I'm sure it will. But I don't think
he's a factor. So you got names like Johnny Bryant, which,
by the way, Brian's the associate head coach of the
of the of the Calves. And then they have the
head coach of the Calves on here at plus what
four hundred in Kenny Atkinson right, and none of the
Boonholzer is on here, Sam Cassell, None of them get
me excited. Mark Jackson's interesting, No, No, not really. No.
(17:15):
When's the last time he coached? Before Steve Kerr coached
at the Golden State Warriors. I didn't put Kerr on
the list. He said no to us once. I'm not
gonna let him say no nos to again. We'll talk,
We'll talk to Mark Medeane about now. The big story,
of course, is Game two of the NBA Finals. But yeah,
It's interesting. The last game that Mark Jackson was a
head coach was twenty fourteen and he's on. My goodness,
(17:38):
oh do you know? Do you know who? The top
three longest tenured coaches in the NBA are? Spolster's one,
Steve Curris, Steve Kurr is two. And then there's a
trio of Mark Dagnault with the Thunder, Billy Donovan with
the Bulls, and Tyron Leo at the Clippers are.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Theyn I never would have guesst Tyro.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
Yeah, it's been five years. That's it, all right, we'll
talk about the NBA Finals, evening up at game at
one game apiece when our buddy Mark Medina joins us. Next,
it's Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
All right, welcome back to the pro Groom hero Fox
Sports Radio. It's Arnie and Plank. Every Sunday night, we
recap the weekend and of course kick your week off.
And what better way to recap the game? Game one,
game two Tonight series even at one. Mark Medina our
NBA insider here at Fox Sports Radio Sports, Keena Athlon Sports,
and of course on Twitter at Mark g Underscore Medina.
(18:45):
I don't know if either team has played a complete
game yet, but pretty close for the thunder tonight, Mark
and whoever had Aaron Wiggins over tonight is feeling pretty
good about that one. Where did that come from from?
Speaker 6 (18:55):
Well, he is a pretty good player, but usually it's
on the defensive end. I mean, same thing with Alex
Caruso is the all glue guy.
Speaker 7 (19:02):
You know.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
I think that analytics still show that he has the
best plus minus with Lebron James compared to any teammate,
but he's not usually a score. So yeah, a lot
of interesting developments in this game to performance here. It
wasn't just Shay gotis Alexander doing this thing. He had
a lot of help, you know.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
And Mark, I'm a Knicks fan and I'm watching the
game today and I'm like, Pascal Siakam, where was that
guy tonight?
Speaker 2 (19:28):
I go, why didn't you do that against the Knicks?
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Against he scored like one hundred points tonight.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
I forgot he was even in the game for like
twenty minutes.
Speaker 6 (19:35):
You know, well, I think this illustrates a thunder a
much different team than the nixt A Thunder have a
lot more depth, They have a lot more defenders. So
when you have that, you know in a very important
player like Pascal Siakam can look much different on the court.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
A bit really impressed with people starting to realize that
it's underdo this crazy thing in the NBA called defense.
But it falls late and day one. I think one
of the biggest adjustments tonight. They went with to bigs
a little bit more, but just seeing the confidence for
Chet Holmgreen early on looked like the moment might be
too big. He went missing in Game one, but I
thought that was a pretty big stretch for him in
(20:09):
the second quarter, late first, early second when things really
got going for him, and it obviously big tonight. But Mark,
I feel like they need him if they're going to
win this series. Okayse needs Chet holmgod oh.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
Without a doubt. I mean, he is a great stretch five,
he's a great rebounder. He can also get a lot
of paint production here and so I think there were
a lot of low hanging fruit adjustments that the thunder
Maid and Chet Holmgrin's one of them fifteen points six
of eleven from the field after shooting two of nine
in Game one. You mentioned the starting lineup and the
(20:40):
adjustment there. I mean Cason Wallace still got the knob.
Isaiah Harten seems still played more minutes, and so I
think that that increased the comfort level for Chet because
he's used to sharing the four of Isaiah. Isaiah's a
great passer and they can share pick and roll duties
with Shay, and I think that also resulted in them
winning the rebound in battle forty three to thirty five.
I think the other thing is even though Jalleen Williams
(21:01):
only shot five or fourteen from the field, he still
scored mostly from the free throw line, and they always
need him to be a reliable secondary scorer to compliment
show because he is the best candidate. I mean, it
was a nice bonus for the Thunder to get guys
like Alex Caruso and Aaron Wiggins to produce offensively, but
normally they don't get that from those guys. They normally
(21:22):
get intangibles. So I think that that offset Jalen's not
shooting the ball the most efficient, but at least he
got in the box score because he was a no
show Game one. But you know, this has been a
troubling powder for Jalen. He's had some note shows, it's
coincide with losses, but he has a good bounce back
track record, partly because he studies the film rafter the
(21:42):
game and he's you know, very internally motivated. So I
think the what the whole lesson here with game two
is if Shay got to Salaxander does what he normally
does and plays at star level and he at least
gets some reliable help from a supporting cast Thunder a
very tough team to be.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
All right, Mark, what happens going back to Indiana? Then
what are you expecting? Firstill, does anything change in the
tempo going back to Indiana? More points, less points, more defense,
more up and down or let's of that?
Speaker 2 (22:11):
What do you think?
Speaker 6 (22:12):
Well? I think the Pacers will certainly always try to
play at a fast pace. I think historically when you
look at teams that play at home, their role players
shoot a lot better. I mean, I think the low
hanging for for them and Zobe topping shooting better than
one of eight from the field. Same thing with Pascal
Siakam three of eleven. So I don't think this series
is going to be lopside. I don't think it's over.
I still favor even before tonight's game, the Thunder winning
(22:36):
this series, but it's because of what I've seen them
in the playoffs and how they are on paper. But
I don't think this is ever going to be lopside,
with exception of Game two, because of just the urgency
that need to bounce back. I think the Pacers have
shown that they've gotten here for reasons beyond Boston New
York underachieving, not being fully one hundred percent. They are
a real deal. They're resilient. Tyres Haliburton is a great player.
(22:59):
He did have the greatest game tonight, but I think
he'll bounce back. So I think that even though the
Thunder are in control of the series, the Pacers still
can keep it competitive. I think moving forward, I expect
more of a wired and wire finish than a double digit,
you know, easy win that the Thunder got tonight.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Yeah, I agree, Mark Mendina is our guests a couple
more recapp in the Thunder win in Game two to
Night one twenty three, one oh seven. You know, if
you ask Thunder fans love to tell you about and
I know Indiana loves to tell you about theirs, and
that's their home court advantage and the loud city for
OKC just the energy the Jews. Are you seeing that
make as big of an impact as we typically think
(23:37):
it does as fans? How important has home courting your
opinion been, not just here for the rest of this
series put in the playoffs so far, Mark.
Speaker 6 (23:44):
Yeah, I think it's health. I mean, their crowd resembles
a kind of a college crowd. It might be studying
because Oklahoma City small time vibes. This is their professional franchise,
but I think in fairness Indiana they're not afraid of
the moment. Obviously, they stole Game one in front of
a very energetic crowd, So I think it really just
had to do with the Thunder really locking in on
(24:04):
every intangible I mean, again, it starts with Shay Guild
as Alexander. If he's not putting up star performance numbers
with like he did in thirty thirty five, thirty four
points site, they're going to lose, but they checked the
boxes with improved play from Ched Holmgren and Jane Williams.
Some pleasant surprise with Alex Caruso and Aaron Wagins, and
also the free throw. The script and said they got
(24:26):
twenty nine free for they made twenty ninth free throws
the Pacers mad nineteen. Does it have to do with
home court? Probably a little bit of a factor, But
I think the bigger thing is when you add up
all these things, why the thunderwin? They checked every box
and left no stone unturned.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
Hey, Mark, you know, I want to think of when
you were dating and then you broke up with a girl,
and then you're like a you really misser, Maybe you
made a mistake. You get back together, you say I'm sorry,
I'm sorry, We're back together. Could the next day we're
sorry and bring back tividough?
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Can we do that? We're sorry?
Speaker 6 (24:58):
I don't think you can that? Now?
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Who's the next coach? What do you think?
Speaker 6 (25:05):
And here's the thing I mean, I don't agree with
the with the move. I mean not that Thibodeau had
a perfect batting percentage, but I think that he played
a major factor why they got to the Eastern Conference
finals and their shortcomings more how to do with personnel
than anything else. So where do they go moving forward? Yeah,
they have a wishless Jason Kidd, but I would be
surprised that he would go. I mean, first, the Mavericks
(25:27):
have to give permission for them to talk to him.
And secondly, even if he is one of many who
had misgivings about the Luka data trade, you know what,
they have the number one pick and skin they're going
to get Cooper Flag. I think that's a better situation
moving forward. So where they go from here, Yeah, they
can talk to other coaches, Michael Malone and Mike Bullenholzer
(25:49):
and Taylor Jenkins, but I don't think any of them
are better than Tibbs. They can also try to get
aggressive and see if they got Jannisnttkoumpo, but they don't
have as many draft picks as most of them went
for the Michale Bridges trade five of them, and if
they're going to make a deal, it's going to involve
Karnthy Towns and while he does bring some value, I
(26:09):
don't think it's enough to get Yanna. So yeah, they're
in a really tough predictament and there's a real danger
that they're reverting back to the old knicks of gaining
their own way and being impatient with things, so should
be interesting.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Back to the old Knicks, all right, Hey, Mark, appreciate
it man. Everyone go find him on Twitter at Margie
Underscore Medina and thanks front of time man. We'll talk
to you soon.
Speaker 6 (26:30):
Appreciate you guys. You guys awesome.
Speaker 2 (26:32):
Thanks Martin marketing up late with us on a Sunday.
Oh he's not alive, all right. You're trying to raise
the daddy here, aren't he? How about Phil Jackson? He's
still around. Didn't that fail though when he tried to
be head coach to the Knicks? Or is that just GM?
Jim Martin Wise is in the house to get us
caught up on all the news, notes and numbers from
(26:53):
the night that was not just in the NBA, but
all of sports. What's going on, Martin.
Speaker 8 (26:56):
We'll start in the NBA, even though Martin and you
guys just talked about a series tied one apiece. Now
after Oklahoma City dismantled the Pacers today, especially in the
first half, Shay Gilders Alexander had a monster third quarter,
finished with thirty four total points.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
But the story of this game to me, Alex Caruso.
Speaker 8 (27:14):
And Aaron Wiggins combining for thirty eight points. Both of
those guys outscored every player on the Indiana Pacers. Tyres
Halliburton was the high man here was seventeen points, but
didn't really turn it on until late in the fourth quarter.
Pascal Siakam had fifteen, Miles Turner with sixteen, and Bendingmatin off.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
The bench with fourteen. Both of these guys.
Speaker 8 (27:35):
Almost everybody played for the Thunder today. Only three players
didn't for the Pacers. This is insane to me in
the NBA Finals that this many people are getting playing time.
But to Sunday Night baseball the Boston Red Sox and
the New York Yankees was a ton of home runs.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Today.
Speaker 8 (27:50):
We saw eleven to seven to score the Red Sox winners.
As a Story hit a home run, Devers hit a
home run, total, Endeavors went back to back, I'm sorry, Navarro,
Endeavors went back to I'll try it one more time, story,
and Toro went back to back. In the eighth inning,
Carlos Navares had a three run home run. In the
sixth Christian Campbell their second baseman in Red Sox prospect.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
They brought up just a rookie right now.
Speaker 8 (28:13):
He had his sixth home run of the year, all
and pretty much all of these off of Ron Don,
who had a rough go. Aaron Judge hit his twenty
and twenty second and twenty third home runs of the year.
DJ Lemayhew had two. Cooper Flatt had his second rush.
Should say Cooper flag plants have a private visit with
the Mavericks in Dallas June seventeenth. The NBA Draft is
(28:35):
June twenty fifth. Jalen Ramsey and the Dolphins trying to
figure out the trade partner. Ramsey not planning to attend
mandatory mini camp this week or In Major League Baseball,
the Rays beat the Marlins three to two, Padres beat
the Brewers won nothing. Tigers shout out the Cubs for zip.
Paul Skin seven and two thirds innings pitch seven strikeouts
(28:56):
didn't get the win as the Pirates beat the Phillies
two to one, catching head a go ahead RBI single
in the eighth inning, and the Royals avoided being swept
by the White Sox with a seven to five win.
Their young prospect, Jack cagleone after a slow start so
far in the Majors, was four for four today, So
the good news in Kansas City back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
Thanks buddy, and by the way, thanks a year to
the date whenever Jack cagleone tore it up in the
Super Regionals, he has his biggest day as a major league,
which leads me to congratulations, Arnie the Arizona Wildcats. You
know that's where the College World Series is, right Omal.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Yes, thinking about going out there to see Arizona, Buddy, Yeah,
I am thinking about it.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Listen, thinking about it. Well, you can say you're thinking
about all this stuff, but I think I speak for
ian Mary Mack and feel free to jump in on
this to Martin, Yeah, you're not party. You're thinking about
going to everywhere in the sports world that involves your team,
and you never go.
Speaker 9 (29:57):
He doesn't even think just to say, I think has
such a wide berth, like a single passing thought, like
I'm hungry to go there.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
Well it's it's there's a good reason if I don't go.
I just can't say right now I'm gonna there.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
No, No, actually I do.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
I have a big reason that I'm probably gonna stay
on the show next.
Speaker 10 (30:22):
Year thinking of the reason.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
No, No, I actually have a big, big announcement.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
I think I could say next Sunday. Why can't you
say it now? Because I need I need one more week.
Does it involve the Arnie Span your TV show.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
No, it does not involve the Arty Span your TV show.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
I don't know, man. Yeah, it seems like there's a
little bit more believability to this than we even imagine.
Soh so anyway, it was good to win.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
I was very excited, especially after what happened in game one.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Oh, it was unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
I was watching the whole entire game.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
I enjoyed it. You know, college baseball would got fourteen
to four, by the way, the two I think eight two. Sorry,
eighteen to two. But this is more important than winning
the championship in football. You know that, don't Winning the
championship in baseball is more important than football. I'm with you.
I want to argue with you exactly same pay day.
(31:15):
I bet too. No, it was I just enjoyed. It
was good.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
I'm glad that we made it this far. Now we'll
get paidback on Coastal Carolina. By the way, is that
a real school or is that like a resort or something.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
It's an awesome it's an awesome story. The Chanta Clear's
coach talked about when they went in. Oh I saw
that story. Yeah, sixteen seventeen when they were.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
That's when they beat Arizona in the championship.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
And his son was battling with uh he was having strokes. Yep,
his I think what he said. He was a teenager
at the time. You said he was like in third grade. Yeah,
he was like eight nine years old. And now you know,
you fast forward and he's healthy and he's been able
to fight through it, and they're getting to go again.
For a school like Coastal Carolina. I don't know, man,
that's a That's a.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Pretty cool I didn't know it was a school. I
thought it was a resort. I thought it's where you
call vacation or something. I've got a vacation in Coastal Carolina.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Come on, man, they have the blue football It's not
even blue. It's like teal football field there. They were
good football a couple of years ago, but.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
They beat us in baseball in the championship to like
ten years ago. But it still bothers the hell out
of me. Still does you guys.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Forgot about it. I had to look it up to
see if it was you guys played the Champs series
that year, right, that was it was Arizona and in
Coastal Right for all marbles four to three. We loss.
They got all their runs on Earned. Really, yeah, that
was a fun series. On Friday Night, I'm doing a
showdown Friday Night. Bernie is uh, Bernie's wanting to cut
back in the off season in the summer. From what
(32:40):
I understand, Bernie can tell you whatever he wants. I
don't know. But they say you want to do Fridays,
I'm like, hell, yeah, I do. And you never get
a live game on right, It's it's one to four
am Central time. You there's never a game on right.
Barney Auburn and Coastal Carolina were playing while I was
on the air, okay, because they had they had a
rain and it went extra innings. They had like three
(33:02):
hours of rain delays. It went extra innings. And I
and I'm you know, you never know what's live and
what isn't anything. No, no, I and I happen to
see someone who posted a tweet It sounded like one
of our listeners just in the verb. But she said,
I'm seventeen beers in I'm not going anywhere and it
was a picture of them pulling the tart back on
the field. But Coastal Carolina won that back to Bagineas. Yeah,
(33:24):
they're back to back innings. The line drive diving play
by the second basement double play happened about the ninth
and the tenth innings in the game. And they're off
to the World Series and Arnie's Arizona Wildcats are We're
gonna give.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Him a beatdown, like you red headed step child.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
No, no, if you can say that anymore.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
But I don't know the red headed step children out there.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
Well, congratulations to the Arizona Wildcats, the Chanta Clears of
Coastal Carolina. I know Oma Hogs, the Arkansas Razorbacks are
in the College World Series right now. They're back Louisville,
and you see LA are back in and let's see
tomorrow what we've got. We've got Duke and Murray State.
(34:07):
I can sense the excitement. Oregon State and Florida State
are gonna play, and I think, what we are we
getting a rain delay at the l s U West
Virginia game right now? Up big so I thought, yeah,
it might be LSU that's already punched its ticket as well, no,
they're in the rain to lay right now, so the
start time has been pushed back. Uh so we'll see
whether or not we can get a final in that
(34:27):
game before we get out of here. All right, when
we come back, let's get your tweets. Let's put a
wrap on hour one with the people. It's already in
playing right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Listen Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
I don't know why the song stuck in my head,
Mary Mac, I don't know why.
Speaker 10 (34:45):
I just thought sang that song.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Yeah, I don't know. It's like stuck in my head
for some reason. Old Dolly, it's an amazing song. It's
an amazing song. You're gonna be singing it all night
long now. But I'm very disappointed that, uh you he
didn't have the usfl ufl AFL Championship on the rundown tonight.
My bad.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
I stopped at eighteen eighteen Roman numerals out there. I
got bad at eighteen because it bothered me.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
I just gave up for the rest of the night.
You did. Well.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
What our producer is texting me with one out in
the ninth inning while I'm watching the Arizona game, I'm like,
what's he doing, man, I go, is this guy knuckle ahead?
What does he? What is he texting me for?
Speaker 6 (35:30):
With?
Speaker 4 (35:30):
What?
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Out?
Speaker 2 (35:31):
In the ninth?
Speaker 3 (35:31):
Had they lost, there'd be ramifications for him to pay
right now?
Speaker 2 (35:35):
What was the score? Weren't you guys out by a couple?
Weren't you four to three? Four to three? Congratulations to
the Michigan Panthers who won the twenty twenty five UFL Championship.
Their head coach Mike Nolan didn't have that one. Beat
the beat the DC Defenders. But you weren't watching. You
(35:55):
weren't in on it today? No, No, I was. Oh,
hold on, hold on, honey, the twenty twenty five UFL
they won the Oh yeah, they won it today? Right
did they win it? Oh? It's the Michigan Panthers and
the XFL title winners, the DC Defenders. Yeah, that's what
it is. I told you I'd get there at some point. Yes,
sooner or later, you were gonna get it round. But
Michigan got their spot by beating Birmingham today forty four
(36:15):
to twenty nine. The Defenders beat the Saint Louis BattleHawks
thirty five to eighteen. Seat you're in. It's Roman numeral
eighteen or whatever number you had at I'm really intrigued
by Roman numeral four because I just saw your tweet.
But I haven't been able to bug you and learn
anything else about meeting the son in law's girl. I'm sorry,
(36:36):
your son's future in laws.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
Right right, right right. I had dinner with them last night. Well,
and the brother was wearing a Pacer sweater. Or they're
from Indiana, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Okay, So, first of.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
All, I've never met a Pacer fan. I didn't know
they existed. To be honest with you, I've never I
never knew the Pacers had fans, right because you.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Didn't see them all in the arena whenever they were
beating your knees.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
I thought they were just I thought there were just
people that were paid to go to the game.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
I think this act is getting old.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
No, I know those were real fans. I thought there
were people that.
Speaker 2 (37:07):
Just Colin Road. Forget the Aaron Rodgers signing. The real
sports story of the week was Arnie soon to be
daughter in law exerting her sports team dominance on the
span your household.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
I was disgusted. I couldn't sit next to the kid anymore.
When he was wearing a Pacer sweatshirt.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
I got up.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
I actually left the restaurant for like five minutes because
I was just just hot under the collar. And then
when I walked back in, I elbowed him in the
back of the head. I was sipping a beer, hoping
that he would spill it, and then I sat on
the other side of the day.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
It just couldn't be.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
It was an ugly sweatshirt too. I'm like, really, get
out of here, man, it was horrible. Take note if
we need to get rid of Arnie and just put
on shirt. He's fighting with his future and is that even?
Speaker 2 (37:47):
Is that? So? Hold on? I always get confused by this.
So that's your daughter in law's brother. Is that what
it is? Yes? So he's like really nothing to you,
He's just going to be around all the time.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
Yeah, he just you know, you know, just and I
had to pick up the bill too. Oh my god, yeah,
I picked.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Oh yeah, you're the you're the you're the dad. Now
you're the father in law. You gotta pay for it all.
As soon as you get all these feelings around here.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Well they get they came in, you know, from out
of town. So all I get at least I could
do is pick up the bill until three hundred and
fifty dollars to help you guys get There was eight
of us.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
Oh yeah, that's gonna add up.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
And they were boozing it up like it was going
out of style, like we're going to go back to
prohibition if they didn't get their last drinks in.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
So well, okay, So their whole family came to Vermont, Yes, yes,
and you took them to what what's the big restaurant there? Chili's?
Speaker 3 (38:38):
It was no, the it was the chilies. You gotch
Burlington Beer Companies.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
Well, okay, that sounds good. That sound was good. I
mean the food. Do you and vibe with him when
you're like, hey, you guys, get whatever you want. Do
you let them know you're paying right away? No?
Speaker 3 (38:51):
No, that way that maybe they think that they'll be
ap to split the bill be and they won't run
it up if.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
They knew I was paying right away, then bring another
rd Yeah what is the move there? Mary mac Like,
if I because I've got daughters right and we're gonna
we're gonna probably be in the situation, do I need
to let them know right away? Hey, I got the bill?
Or I mean, what's this, what's my future look like? Here?
Anyone chime in, because I don't know. You gotta pay
for the wedding, right right right, and so you just
(39:19):
in that instance thing they're paying for the wedding. You
just stepped up and said, hey, I got dinner here.
Speaker 6 (39:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
Well I made him pay for the ice cream, so
that was like twenty bucks.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
Well I'm gonna.
Speaker 10 (39:30):
Lie, brother, your pockets are gonna be crying for home
once your third age.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Yeah, that's probably not real good on my front. Okay,
so three hundred dollars dinner, So you didn't the three
point fifty. Sorry you didn't assert right away that I
got you. Guys, you just kind of went and grabbed
the tack game took care of it. It was an
automatic tip.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
And then when she has had me sign the thing,
it wanted to know if I wanted to tip some more.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
No, I don't know. I know you've been tipped once already.
I don't need to retip you, you know what, not
when they add in the good because of the amount
of crowd that you have that you bring. No, they're
getting taken care of. Sorry, servers, I understand, but that's
a lot of added to the tip overall. Well, I'm
glad things went well for you, right, did it go well?
No fight? Sorry, well outside in the back of the
(40:14):
head of these as far as they get of the
future daughter in law's brother. All right, when we come back,
we'll dive right into those tweets, like I promise. Plus,
Todd Furman is coming up right around the corner. The
Thunder have even the best of seven series at a
game apiece. We're talking about it all night on Fox.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
Don't listen no Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
All right, there we go, stink a genius Hour two.
Congrats to your Wildcats. We hit on that last segment.
Arizona's off to the College World Series.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
And by the way, what am I gonna do? It's
my wife's birthday coming up. I was thinking thinking not
on the rum and numeral rundown, I know, but I.
Speaker 2 (40:48):
Was thinking about punting on that this year. Yeah, why
don't you do that? Let's see how that goes? Good luck?
Speaker 3 (40:54):
I mean, first of all, I spent enough money on
dinner too, No go for it. Her birthday is on
a Tuesday. That the parties on a Tuesday. Nobody goes
out on a Tuesday. And it's not even an important
birthday either. I think she's gonna be like sixty one
or something, So yeah, it was I'd go with that.
Good luck with that. You're so mean, not just saying
(41:17):
good luck. I just celebrated her birthday last year. Geez,
come on.
Speaker 10 (41:22):
Now, it's almost like birthdays don't happen every year.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
Yeah, exactly, And you know what I am taking her
to go see? Uh Jerry Seinfeld.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Okay, that's that's a great probably gonna wrap up. You
should wrap the tickets up and give him no right, Well,
we got him.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
It was my You know, my brother in law owns
the concert venue that he's playing at, so we're going
guest to him.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
I mean, okay, you gotta do something, Harnie. I mean
it's your why. For goodness sakes, I my wife can't
stand me. I can't stand her, but I still get
her a birthday gift whenever comes around me get her
a card or something. Good luck.
Speaker 3 (41:59):
I just I don't understand why every year I gotta
do something for every year I did so here last year.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
The teams that have already clinched their spot in the
College World Series, Arizona will play Coastal. Next week, Louisville
will awake the winner of the Oregon State Florida State game.
UCLA is in Oregon State. Florida State will play a
third game tomorrow. UCLA will play the winner of Duke
and Murray State instance Omaha. Yeah they look good, and
(42:26):
then Arkansas will likely play LSU. It was a rain
delayed game, but it's in action now it's late. It
was you were right, they were smoking them last I checked.
So it looks like it's going to be LSU trying
to defend its title back in Omaha and the College
World Series. So congrats to your Tigers. And then game
one went the thunder. I went against the dune with
the Pacers way. Game two tonight much more Oklahoma City
(42:49):
like one twenty three, one oh seven SGA had thirty
four points to eight assists and Arnie to Row minumeral
number two. I don't I don't really have an offense.
I don't people. I don't know why the ratings are
as low as they are. It's not like the NBA
has been crushing it in TV ratings this year in general,
do you, But I obviously think that obviously something with
the markets factor in here too. Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
You know it's close to nine million, and I know
it's the lowest since eighty eight, but I'm not sure
what I was expecting. I mean, what were we expecting
twelve thirteen, fourteen million? And what was it last year?
I don't have the numbers from last year. Is that
surprisingly low at eight point nine? I guess since it's
the worst since nineteen eighty eight, But I really think
(43:30):
it's because there's a lack of villains, lack of storylines,
no intrigue. You can't find Indiana or Oklahoma on a map.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
So look, now you're mad at me again. I think
all the reasons you give her garbage? Oh wow, I
think if you're you okay, Well, there's got to be
a reason. Somebody tell me the reason that. Well, let
me give you the other side of it. Yeah, go ahead.
NBA claims that they average nearly three times more viewers
than the next most watched program on any other network
(43:59):
on Thursdayday night any other network Wednesday night, three times
more viewers than any other TV show that was being
watched that night. Nearly half of the eighteen to thirty
four year olds who were watching TV were tuned into
the NBA Finals and it generated more than five hundred
million views on social media, so an all time record.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
So you just so you're saying, go ahead, the NBA is
like three times more popular than like the most popular.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
TV show on that Wednesday night. I don't even know
what it is, just that regular TV, Okay, I just
know that. Wow. Yeah. And in eighteen to thirty four,
which I'm just going out on a limb here, Arnie,
probably out of your age demographic, nearly half of those
eighteen to thirty fours who were watching TV were tuned
into the NBA final and on social media, on old on,
(44:52):
just let me remind you on social media. Five hundred
million views on social media and all time record. So
you're too bad. Nobody's paying attention to it.
Speaker 3 (45:03):
No, So is it because that there's so much those
those numbers, those last numbers you gave me don't count.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
In the market numbers on the TV numbers, right, is
that right? No, because they're looking at TV ratings, which
is still kind of antiquated in my book, And honestly,
I don't know anybody that watches anything other than sports
on TV. I mean, you have a regular TV show
you watch on like two, I say two, six or
eight because that was CBS, ABC and NBC when I
was growing up, and now you have Fox here. I mean,
(45:29):
do you have does anyone have any regular shows they
watch on those networks? I don't know, And like, I'll
watch Family it anyway or whatever, you'll watch it later on, right?
I mean, am I missing a show here, Ian or
Mary that's blowing up that I'm just not aware of?
Even Family Guy? Like he said, it's on Hulu too,
It's on who was right? I go watch whenever I
want the finals? But you know, then again, that was
(45:49):
again on that show that's on regular TV that you
can watch that you make appointment viewing for. It's just
I think it's an antiquated way to look at the
success or lack their success.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
A final not since back to back Happy Days in Lavernon.
Speaker 2 (46:04):
Surely I don't know really see it. So I guess
my point, more than anything else, is I don't really
care what the TV ratings say. I just know that
I thoroughly enjoyed watching both games. The comeback by Indiana's
gut wrenching as it was, I was entertained watching the
thunder battle tonight. Kind of never wanted to give up
on Indiana until they kind of even with three minutes
(46:25):
to go. You're like, oh, you know they've done this before.
Speaker 3 (46:27):
Yeah, I'm surprised they took the guys out with two
minutes left of the game, two and a half minutes
left in the game and said, Okay, this game is
one and we'll just go and play our bench players.
Speaker 2 (46:36):
I was a little surprised about that, But like I said,
I mean, you could sit here and joke about I
got no answer. I got no answer whatsoever. I don't
know what to tell you. I just have the numbers,
and I'll tell you what. I'll tell you what the
bottom line more than anything else, Arenie. The overall frustration
and disappointment with those that aren't for me, with those
that have just tapped out and aren't watching. I just
(46:58):
I don't get it because they're all and I don't
see them. I mean, there's nobody that's checking in here
that covers the NBA or cover sports. It's like, Wow,
I'm just not watching it because everyone seems to have
an opinion on it.
Speaker 3 (47:09):
Especially because there's really nothing going up against it sports wise, right,
I really have the you know, the sports world to themselves.
So you would think that every year the ratings would
be good because there's nobody going on.
Speaker 2 (47:21):
PD ratings, the social media ratings, and at least the
numbers there. I don't know about you, but that seems
to be pretty encouraging. That seems to be where most
of the hay is made, if you will anymore, and
that's where the NBA is trying to I think capitalize
a bit. By the way, that's score in that LSU
West Virginia game. It's twelve to four in the top
(47:42):
of the eighth innings, So I'm pretty sure it's going
to be LSU and Arkansas in the first round. Have
you been watching any of the basics? Oh yeah, dude.
My buddy Rob and I we came over. We drank
about seven beers and watched. We watched Miami Louisville, we watched,
we watched Arizona, North Carolina. We're watching the start of
the Arkansas Tennessee game. It was fun watch the end
(48:03):
of Coastal Carolina and Auburn. It was great. Man. I
love the world. I love diving sports, in college sports,
I love them. I'm a big softball guy. Obviously, congrats
to Texas, and I'm all and I usually cover the
College World Series, so I listen. I know my man,
Shady Sean Shady Sean for twenty I guess the birthday's
April twentieth. I know that he gets mad at us
when we spend too much time on college sports. But
(48:24):
it is the Super Regionals, it is the next trip
to the World Series. So I just find myself as
some of the thoroughly enjoys it, aren't you doesn't too
many people care about it, though. I don't be honest.
If you're gonna make fun of me about Oklahoma City
and don't care about the NBA Finals, right, we're really
walking a plank whenever it comes to the College World Series. No,
you're one hundred percent right on that.
Speaker 3 (48:43):
I don't even know what kind of numbers they get,
and it seems like it's growing a little bit in popularity,
but nowhere near what you saw in the ratings for
the NBA.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
Now, so dumb question. Yeah, I give you those numbers
about social media impact. The digital eighteen to thirty four
market doesn't do anything for you, does it? Because you
need to see TV ratings?
Speaker 3 (49:06):
It does a little bit when you gave me the
five hundred million, that's that's a lot.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
I mean, that's you.
Speaker 3 (49:13):
Know, I don't know what that means for, like, you know,
and equating that, you know, how many people are actually
watching it, because right then it goes over like I
don't know, ten fifteen.
Speaker 2 (49:24):
Who knows how many people really checking it out.
Speaker 3 (49:26):
It just goes to show you nobody's really watching the
entire event. And that's the same thing for baseball even football.
They just catching glimpse of it and highlights of it
and stuff like that. But it does change my mind
a little bit about how many people are paying attention.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
By the way, one other baseball game is currently in progress.
I failed to mention it, mister, and nobody pointed out
Oregon State is beating the breaks off Florida State right
now on the top of the eighth inning, fourteen to eight.
So it looks like Oregon State's going to advance only
so we're only gonna have one game tomorrow. Dude, You'll
get the Duke Murray State game tomorrow. Sorry about that, mister.
No bud are resident Florida State expert to tweets to Twitter,
(50:03):
we go to x Darryl's mad at you. Usually Darryl's
mad at me, but I'll wear it whenever he's mad
at you. He writes, you're speaking for me as well, Plank,
and for the rest of us. Arnie isn't going anywhere.
He uses the show to fantasize rather than just actually
going to some of those games. At least one of
those games. My goodness, Arnie, let's go Pacers.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
Well, you know, Chris, I can tell you if I
didn't live in Vermont, and I live someplace else closer
to the games, then maybe I can go.
Speaker 2 (50:33):
Maybe I'll end up moving from Vermont.
Speaker 3 (50:34):
You never know. Maybe that was the big announcement.
Speaker 2 (50:39):
Mister Nobody got in on the NBA Finals too. He writes,
there was a lot of people, including Rob Parker, who
were burying okay See after Game one. They thought, quote unquote,
Indy does it again, not realizing that okay se has
blown game one leads. Before tonight the thunder reminded people
they're not other teams Indie beat. They're the under Oh
(51:00):
significantly better than any team that they beat so far
in the playoffs. Yeah, significantly better.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
There was no way anybody was writing them off or look,
I don't know about what Rob had to say, but
nobody was writing.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
Them off after one.
Speaker 3 (51:12):
You lose two on the road and go after that,
that's a whole different story. And you know, it was
a game they should have won. So maybe people thought
that they were going to come back because of the
way they lost. I could see a little bit of
that sentiment, But no, I didn't.
Speaker 2 (51:25):
I didn't think the series was over. Mister the nature Boy,
writes NBA viewer number three reporting for duty. Here there
you go. I knew.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
See, I knew all three NBA viewers listen to our show.
That's that's quite remarkable.
Speaker 2 (51:38):
That's great, man.
Speaker 3 (51:39):
See, I see now when we talk about the NBA,
we're talking about the three people that.
Speaker 2 (51:43):
I know, three people that are watching, right, and then
brings up a really good point. He says, the problem
is the NBA markets like six teams. That's why the
NFL is king. If you have Mahomes, Alan or Burrow,
you are a big market team. All the other sports
need the big mare markets to win to get ratings.
I think, you know, it's it's funny to think about
(52:04):
it now because it was a big old burr in
the saddle of most Thunder fans aren't Eve The Thunder
didn't even play on Christmas. They weren't even part of
the Christmas schedule for the NBA this year. I mean,
can you believe that.
Speaker 3 (52:15):
Nobody would they think they were going to be a
good team, or just nobody not enough interest in them?
Speaker 2 (52:19):
I guess I guess the latter. I mean, they were
the number one seed in the West last year, so
they're not gonna be on your on your big day
for the league. And I get it. Look, we don't
have this laundry list of superstars. They are gonna be there.
I think Brad Pitt. You know guys that are from Oklahoma. Well,
I think Brad was born in Oklahoma but lived most
most of his life in Joplin. We still claim him.
(52:41):
Who's the country music singer Blake? Uh? Why did I
just Blake on Blake? Blake's Blake Shelton. We got Blake Shelton, right,
we got Blake Griffith, but we don't. I mean, there's
not a superstar lead market mark. We're not getting Timothy
Shalomade showing up or Shamalata whatever his name is. And
you're not getting Ben Stiller showing up. You're not getting
bike Lee. I don't know if that has something to
(53:02):
do with all we don't need to market it, but
it's it's true. Your market staff still, your market Lebron still.
They kind of got a little drunk for Victor wimbin
Yama there for a while. But you don't see a
big push for SGA and for the Thunder during the season.
You don't hear a lot about Tyrese Halliburton. During the season.
You'll see the highlights of the Knicks. The only thing you.
Speaker 3 (53:22):
Hear about Oklahoma City is that they traded away three
Hall of Famers and that they were never going to
recover after that. Think about that for a second. You
traded away three Hall of.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
Famers and well, they didn't trade Durant. Durant left via
free agency. Okay, Well, I guess you could say traded
away because Harden was traded, Westbrook was trading, and Paul
George was traded, so yes, technically, and then you lost
Kevin Durant, who left during free agency.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
Unbelieved how you bounce back from that is truly remarkable
that most teams would be like in the bottom for
like a decade after they do something like that.
Speaker 2 (53:59):
Well, especially whenever things didn't go as well as they
did in the Harden trade, Like you said, right, I mean,
look who they got back in that deal. Hoof right,
I mean that was a big swing and a miss.
But when they got back in the Paul George trade
and what they got back, picks wise from the rockets
kind of made up in the Russell Westbrook trade made
up for a lot of it. And then LJ writes, Chris,
can you start your own Roman numeral list? The first
(54:21):
item is to teach Arnie the difference between there and
they are. Wow. Second is making a new broadcast tweet.
Arnie is using the same tweet exciting yes new No, Well,
it's got a big announcement next week, so maybe there's
gonna be something new about it. But I'm sure you'll
get You'll get a fill in like on Jason Show,
and to try to sound cool, you'll make that announcement
on their show. No, no, no, I got it. I
(54:41):
can see that happen. No, we'll be on our show.
I don't have any fill in next week.
Speaker 3 (54:45):
Usually, well usually they asked me by Tuesday for the
following week, so we'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (54:50):
Oh, is that your deadline? Don't ask after tuesdays. I
don't work after tuesdays. You can't ask me after that.
I got a rule about that, though. I think I
didn't sell the fact that you claimed that you had
beef with your brother and are your future I guess
daughter in law's brother. Yeah, I guess. Really the father
was a Baser fan too. They're all all excited to
watch the game today and stuff like that. They were
(55:12):
gonna come over. No, I'm not coming over to watch.
And by the way too, to circle out, we were
talking about the firing of coaches Colin Wrights. To be fair,
the Raptors did fire their head coach after he won
a Coach of the Year. All Nick Nurse did in
year one was win a championship. Oh, let's see Kenny
Atkinson one Coach of the Year this year. Mark Dagnault
(55:34):
won it for the thunder last year. And then you
got to go all the way back to like Steve
Kerr winning it. Between Kerr winning it and dag Nault
and Atkinson, like every coach have been fired. It's like
eight of the last eleven Coach of the years have
been fired. It's unbelievable. So yeah, don't win Coach of
the Year and whatever you do, don't make the Eastern
Conference finals. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (55:54):
By the way, I know we got Todd Furman coming
up next segment, So I just I just want to
say this. You know, I'm pretty upset at our gambling
friends out there, well, you know, especially Brian know who
two weeks ago I asked him to bet one hundred
dollars on my Arizona Wildcats at eighty five to one
odds to win the baseball championship and he wrote.
Speaker 2 (56:16):
Me back and he goes, don't waste your money. They're
not going to win it. Well yet, oh please, it's
just a mirror, you know, formality, and Jeff Schwartz going
they're not gonna win it, all right, Okay.
Speaker 3 (56:28):
Now look at them now, they're they're in Omaha, and
I'm gonna be uh they were eighty five to one odds,
So that would have been eight five hundred dollars in
my pocket that I'm gonna have to make him pay me.
Speaker 2 (56:40):
Now, what are you gonna have to come out of
his pocket? How much were you gonna put on him?
Like ten bucks? What were Oh? Okay, okay, Well I'm
just you, Arnie. You you can bet on teams on
an app in your state. It is legal to bet
on Arizona from your phone. I know enraging thing, ever,
(57:01):
that you don't take advantage of it.
Speaker 3 (57:02):
I saw the odds when it came out on one
of these sports books in Las Vegas, and I'm like.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
Hey, Brian, go run over there.
Speaker 3 (57:10):
I'll venue one hundred dollars. And and Bernie wasn't in town.
And Bernie wasn't in town. Now Bernie's like, well, now
that I'm in Vegas, I'll go ahead and bet them
for you.
Speaker 2 (57:20):
I go.
Speaker 3 (57:21):
Now they're like ten to one probably or some Bolognia.
Speaker 2 (57:24):
After that, I'm not going to make millions like I thought.
I was only you, only you, Arnie, trying to cash
in on a bet that hasn't even been secured yet.
Speaker 3 (57:34):
Arnie, I said, Venmo, Venmo, I know what it is.
Speaker 2 (57:40):
I know what venmo is for crying out.
Speaker 10 (57:41):
You don't say venue? Do you say Venmo?
Speaker 2 (57:45):
What did I say? He said? When you said whatever?
Close enough enough? But again, I think the anger for
me is somebody who can't because we don't have the ability.
You can literally get on your phone and bet, and
yet you would choose to try to put something on
someone else to do it for you. Yeah, yeah, I Bernie,
go do it for me now this week, no Lea
(58:06):
isn't down. We'll get a break when we come back.
Todd Furman joined us next right here on Fox Sports
Radio stick graund Scotta Vegas. Baby. He is Todd Furman,
Fox Sports Radio every Sunday Night with Arnie and plank Boy.
What a bounce back for the thunder tonight. Did it
do anything in the rest of the series odds? In
(58:27):
your opinion, Todd, did it shift anything in your perspective
around for the way this thing may go the rest
of the way out?
Speaker 11 (58:33):
Not especially. I think we anticipated that Oklahoma City was
going to be significantly more buttoned up in Game two
than what we saw in Game one, knowing that they
were in firm control of that contest, not only from
potentially covering as a double digit favorite, but leading wire
to wire in till tyres Haliburton hit the game winning
shot with under a half second to go. But when
you look at some of the numbers, Oklahoma City now
(58:54):
slightly less of a favorite than they were entering the
series at minus five sixty compared to roughly seven, but
they are a five and a half point favorite for
a pivotal game three. And I think the bigger question
is about the status of Tyres Halliburn. Imagine he's going
to play, but didn't exactly look to be one hundred
percent when he was leaving the podium after his media availability,
kind of favoring that ankle sprain. The question of severity
(59:17):
remains to be seen todd well.
Speaker 3 (59:19):
With the ratings down, is less ies mean less money
being bet and does that mean maybe more props or
being better or it's down all across the board.
Speaker 11 (59:28):
You know, typically there's a correlation between ratings and what
the betting handle looks like, but in this series it
hasn't been the case. Because of the teams that are involved.
It's more than numbers to try and be able to
navigate through. You know, the recreational better who see some
of these big price tags shies away a little bit.
Although the books I spoke to coming into tip off tonight,
we're more than happy to have Oklahoma City and do
so comfortably knowing that people remember what they saw last
(59:50):
and seeing a number as be high as eleven eleven
and a half throughout the betting market in the wake
of Indiana pulling off that game one upset was going
to attract a lot of recreational better, so the handle
be a little bit better on games three, and typically
the deeper we get in a series where there's a
little bit more data and where odds makers feel more comfortable,
the betting public does as well, because they start to
familiarize themselves with some of the players, the teams, and
(01:00:12):
more importantly, the styles of play that they're going to
see going forward.
Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
All right, Well, one final thing on the Finals, Todd.
We were talking with Mark Medine about this, and I'm
just curious. We've seen teams have success like Oklahoma City,
like obviously Indiana. Home court advantage still that big of
a deal to you? Does it matter as much whenever
you're evaluating it as it maybe has in years past?
Speaker 11 (01:00:34):
You know, it does still play a role. I think
it's always important a factor in now exactly every home
court in terms of what the value is going to
be worse. You know, these are two of the more
college like atmospheres that you're going to see in the NBA.
So I do think it can be a little bit
of a difficult environment, especially given the lack of familiarity
when East meets West. You know, we're talking about the
Atlanta Hawks playing a home playoff game in the first round.
(01:00:56):
You're not going to make that much in the way
of an adjustment the same way you would for Paycoorp.
What we're going to see a Cambridge field house and
what should be an electric atmosphere in game three.
Speaker 2 (01:01:04):
You know, Todd, I brought this up an hour number one.
Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
You know, just like an old girlfriend where you break
up and then you get back together because you you
miss her and you knew it was a bad thing
to do. I'm ready to say I'm sorry, I hire
Thibodeaux back. I'm ready to bring it back.
Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
Todd. Who's going to be.
Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
Our next coach? What kind of odds can we get?
But they probably made a mistake getting rid of Tibbs.
Speaker 11 (01:01:26):
I don't think Tibbs is going to take that invitation
and come back to coach the Knicks, Darnie. So if
you have a direct line.
Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
Yeah to the Dolan.
Speaker 11 (01:01:36):
Family, by all means, I encourage you to pick that
phone up and try and give him a call. See
which you can kind of pull off to be able
to make that happen. But it's kind of been a
revolving door. If we've seen some coaches take their names
out of consideration, most notably Danny Hurley and of course
g Right. There was all sorts of speculation that coach
Malone would be a logical fit, you know, knowing he
has tied to the East Coast. But you would think
(01:01:57):
if the Knicks we're going to make this move, and
Leon Rose was going to put his rubber stamp on it,
the Knicks already would have had a handshake deal in
play with the potential head coaching candidate. But it is
the New York Knicks, and I never want to give
them too much credit for thinking two steps ahead instead
of making rash decisions.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
Yeah, I kind of felt that same way. It's like,
did they divorce with having the mistress in mind? It
doesn't look like that's the case. Hey, Dodd shifting real
quick to the NFL. It became official this week. I
know we didn't see a lot of moves in the
over under number for the Steelers or Aaron Rodgers, but
had that adjustment already been kind of baked in in
a lot of the ways that Pittsburgh was viewed in
(01:02:33):
twenty twenty five that Aaron Rodgers was going to be
their guy.
Speaker 11 (01:02:37):
One hundred percent. Odds makers are working under the assumption
that Aaron Rodgers was going to be the starting quarterback.
We saw that reflected in their win total at eight
and a half, the fact that the Steelers are a
slight underdog to make the postseason and even their game
one number. Will they go to MetLife Stadium and take
on their former quarterback as well? I justin field. So
when you're looking at the dynamics in play on a
(01:02:58):
variety of different fronts, the odds makers were kind of
working under that auspice that Rogers was going to be
the guy. If we got official confirmation that it was
going to be Mason Rudolph, you would have seen numbers
taking much more negative context against the Steelers, both in
the micro and the macro markets.
Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
Todd, since none of my good buddies got down on
Arizona at eighty five to one to help me out,
what can I get them now that they're in the
College World Series other than I.
Speaker 11 (01:03:22):
Told you so, pretty impressive, aren't you. I do have
to give Arizona a world of credit. For battling back
after that eighteen to two debacle Game one in Chapel Hill.
Have not seen fully updated futures odds for what the
College World Series will look like as we wait to
see how this West Virginia LSU game, which is more
or less a formality, and of course Oregon State, you know,
(01:03:43):
trying to close out Florida State to secure you know,
seven of the eight bids that we'll have in Omaha
for the College World Series. I'd expect Arizona to be
in that ten to twelve to one range, maybe even
a touch higher when.
Speaker 6 (01:03:56):
You look at the wildcasts.
Speaker 11 (01:03:57):
But hey, look, this is the potential and the makings
of some of the unfamiliar names that are there. And
if you find yourself rooting for a program not named
Arkansas or LSU, you have to be thrilled that those
two heavyweights will do battle in their opening game in
Omaha next weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
Thank yeah, man, two teams that probably would have the
best odds to win the World Series taking on each
other in the first round. All right, I've been waiting
for a couple weeks. Ask your opinion on this, because
I have become the biggest fan of what's going on
on Prime. I think the Prime NASCAR coverage has been phenomenal.
I know that. I know that today was odd because
(01:04:31):
William Byron dominated and then out of nowhere, Denny Hanlet's
like here, I am, I'm going to win the race.
But what have you made of the presentation and the
way that Prime has covered Nascar? I'm digging it. How
about you?
Speaker 11 (01:04:43):
No, I think they've done a phenomenal job. They've taken
each NASCAR race that they've had on their limited schedule
and they've turned it into a big event using that
template in the blueprint that they apply to Thursday night football.
So it's the extended pregame, the luxury they're affordedive streaming,
and I think when NASCAR has desk really lacked as well.
When you're on network television, you just don't have a
time to do the victory lane postgame show like we
(01:05:04):
have seen. And full marks to the team that they
have in the booth, Dave assembled that has very good
chemistry right out of the gates and Dale Junior, Steve
Letard who we know have worked together, and of course
a guy that I'm all familiar with for my time
on Race Ub and Adam Alexander, and the same will
go to the set that they've been able to establish
with Corey Lajoy, Daniel Trotta and getting Carl Edwards off
the milk carton back involved in the NASCAR community. Tremendous
(01:05:26):
credit to them, and you love to see it. You
hope the TNT kind of takes the baton from Amazon
and carry some of that momentum forward when they pick
up the schedule. But it's really felt like a different experience,
and I think any NASCAR fan or even the casuals
that are starting to get into it, hopefully they've really
come to enjoy it over the last couple of races.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
All Right, Todd, last thing from me, and the big
question was on Twitter, and I don't know if you
saw this. I hope you have a pen with you.
If not, I hope you remember this. Somebody wrote, what
I win three million dollars? How much do I have
to tip? What I'm in Vegas? They said you have
to tip the dealers thirty to sixty thousand dollars, cocktail
servers one thousand dollars each, the cashier five hundred, security
(01:06:05):
three hundred, the casino host five hundred, the valet two
hundred and the pit boss just a high five.
Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Sound right on that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:13):
That's a lot of money for the dealers on thirty
to sixty thousand dollars though.
Speaker 11 (01:06:18):
You know normally it's a percentage, but when you're taking
home a three million dollar hall, that's a little bit different.
So you're not going to tip, you know, five to
seven percent or anything along those lines. But always there
on the side of caution, especially with the personalities you
just spend the most amount of time with, and for
someone that has a VIP host, the more you take
care of them, they will typically reciprocate that behavior. But
(01:06:38):
the last thing you want is to be rolling out
of that casino with people feeling unappreciated. So if you
happen to come into a windfall of cash at three
million bucks, don't be so tight on those purse strings already.
Make sure you're doling out to benjamins like I know
you do when you're walking around downtown Burlington on a
Saturday night, you know, deep into the fall, when it's
twelve degrees outside. So i'd expect you to treat all
of your dealers in casino personnel the exact same way.
(01:07:00):
When you finally get that a loose mid seven figure
pay day.
Speaker 3 (01:07:03):
With Arizona at about twelve to one, I'll be able
to get myself a nice little cabin by the lake
Lake Champlain.
Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
When said and done, there you go, hey.
Speaker 11 (01:07:11):
Look I respect it, and you know, maybe you can
take some of the winnings if Arizona goes on to
win the College World Series, find a way to parlay
that into college football, and then of course roll that
over into Arizona winning on the hardwood as well. You know,
maybe you be on cairdown sweep winning three major sports.
Not quite sure how they're going to do it or
which one of those trios most likely, but at the
(01:07:33):
same time, you have to dream big to be able
to achieve.
Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
Some of those like goals. Good stuff. Hey Tod, have
a great week, buddy. We appreciate you as.
Speaker 1 (01:07:40):
Always, always a pleasure. You guys do the same.
Speaker 2 (01:07:42):
There is Todd Furman. You can find them on Twitter
at Todd Furman and of course always download the Bet
the Board podcast however you consume podcast. Here he comes
in for Steve to Sager. Tonight, Martin Weiss is in
the house with what's trending, What's going on? Martin. What's
going on is that Oklahoma City Sooner? Wait done?
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
No, Maxie Arney, don't disrespect him like that.
Speaker 8 (01:08:03):
Yeah, I'm disappointed in you, Arnie, But to say disappointed
means you expect better, you know, And so I guess
it's just far for the course.
Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
Now.
Speaker 8 (01:08:13):
The best team in the NBA all season, the Oklahoma
City Thunder, showed why today, one twenty three to one
oh seven in Game two, tying up that series one
to one. It was a real show of the bench today.
Chez Shaye Gills Alexander will get him out of the way.
Number one on the depth on the call sheet here
thirty four points for the MVP. He was eleven for
(01:08:35):
twenty one from the floor, made eleven free throws on
twelve attempts, but Alex Caruso and Aaron Wiggins twenty points
for Carusso, eighteen for Wiggins. Off the bench, they outscored
every single player for the Pacers. Tyres Halliburton the high man.
He had seventeen points, but was not aggressive in the
first three quarters Offensively, Pascal Siaka finished with fifteen Miles
(01:08:56):
Turner finished with sixteen. As that series now tied two
games a piece. The Red Sox and the Yankees. Boston
getting a win in the Bronx home run party is
Trevor Story, Rafael Devers, Carlos Lavares, Christian Campbell, Abraham Torrel
all went long for Boston. Aaron Judge hit his twenty
second and twenty third home run of the year. The
(01:09:19):
Rays beat the Marlins three to two. Padres won nothing
over the Brewers. Pirates Paul Skeins go seven to two
thirds with seven strikeouts and does not get the win,
but Pirates do get the win two to one. Rangers
double up the Nationals four to two, Reds four to
two over the Diamondbacks. Tigers blanked the Cubs for nothing.
Guardians get a four to two win over the Astros.
(01:09:40):
Royals avoid being swept by the White Sox seven to five.
Jack kackleono four for four and his early young major
league career thus far. Like Plank just said a year
ago to the day that he tore up the Super
Regional CACILIONI so things you know exciting in Kansas City.
The Twins beat the Blue Jays six a three, Dodger
(01:10:01):
seven and three over the Cardinals. Mookie Betts went yard
Mets thirteen to five over the Rockies Giants, with a
four to three win over the Braves, A's five to
one over the O's, Mariners beat the Angels three to two,
and in the NBA, Cooper Flag plans to have a
private visit with the Dallas Mavericks June seventeenth. A week
after that will be the NBA Draft June twenty fifth.
(01:10:22):
The Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey working towards the trade, trying
to find a partner.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
For that trade.
Speaker 8 (01:10:27):
Ramsey will not already's not planning to I should say
a ten Mandy Tory mini camp this week.
Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
He will stay away.
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
So back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
Hey, thanks, but it's already playing here on fox'ready radio football.
Let's go, man, let's get the little college football. Either way,
let's go. Hey, be sure to check out a Fox
Sports Radio YouTube channel. There's tons of great videos from
many of our Fox Sports Radio shows. Just search Fox
Sports Radio on YouTube and you'll see a whole bunch
of video highlights all of our programs. And be sure
to subscribe so you always have instant access to our
(01:10:56):
Fox Sports Radio videos on YouTube. Well, I mean you
make the rundown for the show, Warnie and it is
the Bible. We must go buy it every single Sunday
night time.
Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
Me anything in college, it's been like no, like Week one,
so and so said about their opponent that they're a
bunch of pat season they're gonna get there.
Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
You never get that. And you just had Okay, hold on,
just you just had the most seismic shift in the
history of college sports that happened on Friday. You had
lines that were dropped, you had start times that were
dropped last week. What more do you want?
Speaker 4 (01:11:29):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:11:29):
Yeah? That I like that. I enjoyed seeing that.
Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
And Fox was taking a lot of grief for the
start times and.
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
Which they hadn't even announced yet. They just announced the
big new kick was gonna be at the oh House
State game, and everyone's like, oh, they're going to start
it at noon Eastern. Somebody, somebody's governor got involved. We're
gonna put it into this.
Speaker 3 (01:11:48):
I've got nothing better to do than to fight at
start time of a football game.
Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
Well, you you did have one NFL story, but I
want to wait on it till the final hour. Yeah,
and I'm a little disappointed that you didn't have another
NFL story, knowing how much of a Homer, you are
where you're beloved, Miami Dolphins. Yeah, I mean mine's been
talking about it all night long. What's going on here?
This was the guy that was taking you to the
super Bowl when you brought him in a two years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:12:13):
This is the first time in how many years I'm
coming into the season not feeling so great about my Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (01:12:21):
Man, I just I don't know what it is. Usually
I have a high X mysterians. Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:12:27):
I just I'm just I'm not feeling all, you know,
like hey, super Bowl or buzzed. I'm just like, gosh,
something's bothered me about them. I just feel like they're
missing something out. There's a piece of the puzzle that's missing.
Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
Well, I'll tell you what. You know you're in high
NFL time when one of the lead stories is that
Adam Sandler will cast Derek Kndray in a movie if
he rushes for two thousand yards, That, Arnie is when
you know we are in big news time in the
National Football League.
Speaker 3 (01:12:57):
You know, I'm the one that started this whole put
me in a movie thing, And then Dan Patrick has
been bothering Adam Sandler and now this.
Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
I don't think I think they're boys. I don't think
he bothers them. I think they're they're friends.
Speaker 3 (01:13:11):
So what, man, he's just be putting me in movies. Man,
that'd be better if they saw me in there. Dans
are like every damn Adam Sandler movie.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Anyway, that's right. You know I played basketball with Adam.
See there you go. You should have had an in.
Speaker 3 (01:13:23):
Yeah, yeah, I mean he doesn't know who I am,
but we did play basketball together.
Speaker 2 (01:13:26):
There was one other note that dropped tonight. Nick Chubb
is expected to sign with the Houston Texans. Ian Rappaport,
I like to move a lot. We got a backfield
now of Joe Mixon and add Nick Chubb to it.
They also have Damian Pierce, who's I think a really
good running back. They might have too many guys. We'll
see if we'll see if maybe they make a couple
of moves, but you like it make an impact for you.
(01:13:49):
There's another one we're missing. Also.
Speaker 3 (01:13:51):
They were what's at another back that they had the Texans.
I can't remember off the top of my head. They
got injured also.
Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
But well, I just said Joe Mixing and Damian Pierce.
They have Woody Marx and Daria Ugno Augna Bowlet. I
believe it. I can't say his last name, but no,
I think it's a good move.
Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
And I was surprised, you know, I thought there was
gonna be a lot of teams interested in.
Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
Yeah. I think it was a good move by them
though that I get a guy that averaged over five
yards per carry for the first six seasons of his career.
But the Browns went out and got a couple of
running backs this spring in the draft. Oh and they
got a couple of quarterbacks too, so kind of kind
of like last man, and they're speaking to quarterbacks Alreadie,
when we come back, we'll give that tease, we'll get
that warn because let's talk about the move finally happening.
(01:14:37):
Aaron Rodgers is a Steeler and we know what the
money looks like. So we'll dive into it. Next to
put a rap on hour two with already in Plank
on Fox Sports Radio. All right, Arnie, let's uh, let's
hit Roman numeral number ten. I think it's time. I
think we procrastinated on it enough. Yes, we've given it
(01:15:00):
enough time. What'd you make of the move this week
to bring in one a A Ron Aaron Rodgers two
the Pittsburgh Steelers officially.
Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
Well, first, was it true that he was you know,
he did all this so he didn't have to go
to OTA's and all that stuff. And this year, yeah,
I mean it's it's amazing. It just feels like he's
doing all the nonsense again, but at least behind closed doors.
I mean, there's no surprise here. Excuse me, No, we
knew this was going to happen. It was just a
(01:15:32):
matter of time and the right timing and where he
would maximize his uh, you know, do less work and
less training and all that stuff. I think it will
hurt him a little bit because he's not gonna be,
you know, on the same page as the receivers. But
we still got a long way to go. We still
got about two months to go. I don't think it's
gonna help Pittsburgh. I don't think Pittsburgh is going to
(01:15:54):
be five hundred this year. I don't think they're going
to the playoffs this year. I think he's probably gonna
win let's say, eight games. I think he's gonna have
a bad year. They're a defensive team, so I think
his numbers are going to be down and I don't
think Aaron Rodgers are gonna be happy though. They got
him for what was it, one year, little over thirteen
million dollars.
Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
That not a bad deal.
Speaker 3 (01:16:14):
No, No, that's fan friendly, No doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
Team friendly, team friendly.
Speaker 3 (01:16:20):
But what did I read that he was their third
choice when it was all said and done?
Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
Right, Okay, you'll have to take me deep on that one.
He was the third choice when all was said and done? Yeah,
who was their first choice?
Speaker 7 (01:16:33):
Well, they wanted to keep well reports, you're right, Arnie
reports did say they actually wanted to trade for Matt
Stafford and then sew they wanted to resign Justin Fields
and when that didn't work, they pivoted to Rogers.
Speaker 2 (01:16:46):
Interesting, so they tried to save Fields in Pittsburgh. Yeah,
after they had benched him.
Speaker 3 (01:16:56):
They from what that was the report they wanted him for,
then the trade for Stafford's second and when those fell through,
then Aaron Rodgers was the third.
Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
Where was that from? Ian? Was that like a NFL?
Let me find you had that report? Okay, because it
just here's why you're not buying that one. No, No,
I'm not, I'm not doubting it. It just it wouldn't
make a lot of sense to me that you would
go fight to bring back the dude that you bingched.
Justin Fields didn't get hurt, like Justin Field didn't get injured.
(01:17:28):
They chose Russell Wilson over him whenever Russell Wilson got healthy, right,
And maybe maybe the thought was we could hide you know,
Justin Fields for another year, but it was it was
Adam Schefter. Sorry to interrupt, Oh that's I mean, that's right.
I mean that's a pretty reputable source. Adam s the
fake Adam Adam Schefter with an L instead of a
(01:17:48):
C in his name. Does that surprise you at all?
Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
No, it shouldn't, because I thought they wanted to go
in a different direction to begin with. I never felt, well,
that was Aaron Rodgers or Bust at the beginning, But
after the other two fell through, then I could obviously
see them going after Rodgers. But no, it doesn't really
surprise me that he was the third option.
Speaker 2 (01:18:12):
I guess more than anything that the interesting part of
it is that I guess they were one of about
three teams who their first option was trying to go
get Matt Stafford. We know that was a case. Do
you think that was.
Speaker 3 (01:18:26):
Do you think that was the problem why he didn't
want to sign right away because he was a third
option the Pittsburgh so and that never got out until now.
So maybe he was all upset and hurt over the situation.
Speaker 2 (01:18:38):
I think he would. I mean, wouldn't you have to
know at that point that if you've waited this long,
and if you've been in the process of kind of
waiting it out, Arnie, wouldn't you have to envision and
imagine that, Hey, there's going to be other guys that
were viewed for this role before I was. I mean,
don't you have to kind.
Speaker 7 (01:18:57):
Of accept that or or no, to be fair though
guys he was there or that they were his third choice.
It seems like as well that's trying to do. Originally
resign with the Jets. People say he wanted the Vikings
and now Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (01:19:09):
That's true too, You're right about that. Yeah, So I
don't I don't know if that had any factor hint
in him waiting. But I guess I guess the interesting
part to me and all this aren't he is just
looking back at how many options truly were out there
for the Rams if they wanted to move on from
Matt Stafford.
Speaker 3 (01:19:27):
Oh, absolutely on that. I wonder what the trade would
have been, what it would have involved, how much you'd
have to give up to get somebody like him.
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
The rumor is no one was willing to give up
a first. I mean, that's that's what this boiled down to,
is they couldn't get a first as an offer for him.
But I mean, if I'm Pittsburgh and that's the guy
I wanted, I mean, I'm a little part of Yeah,
you are number this year. Maybe they were offering a
first and it wasn't enough. But I just can't fathom
(01:19:58):
that that would because you have Pittsburgh, you had the Raiders,
you had two or three other teams that were talked
about being in the mix for Matt Stafford. Gosh, maybe
maybe Derek Carr might come back, Arnie, if he has
options after one season away. But I don't. I know,
it hasn't made a difference in the over underwin totals.
You've heard the promo from Dan Patrick, I'm sure, but
(01:20:20):
even Todd Ferman told us right in our final thirty
seconds here, they were already kind of baked in believing
the day that Aaron Rodgers was going to be the
guy there right now.
Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
I don't even think there's gonna be much movement on
the betting line now that it's become official.
Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
I think most people understood that anyway, agreed. All right,
when we come back to the Fox Sports Radio studios,
your tweets and Arnie's picks, it's all coming up in
an action packed power hour next right here on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:20:45):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio, all.
Speaker 2 (01:20:48):

Can we do video? Can people?
Speaker 3 (01:21:31):
Can we do like where people can watch us do
the show?
Speaker 2 (01:21:34):
Can we start doing that? Or what? Sure? I mean
it's it might take a process. It would involve you
actually maybe like turning on a camera during the show. Well,
how else do you think that they would see us? Say,
turn on a camera? Do I like you're a computer
camera that's on your lap? Do you use a laptop
during the show? No? Okay, do you use your phone?
Speaker 4 (01:21:58):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
Did? What do you think that were just like magically
going to show up in Vermont with some cameras for you?
I got a camera, I got a camera in front
of me, So then turn it on and then I'll
turn mine on and we'll just do our show on
YouTube or something? Why not? And people will watch us
as we do the show, right? Sure? Yeah, it'd be
the first time we'd see each other while we're doing
the show.
Speaker 3 (01:22:20):
Yeah. I've never even seen you in person.
Speaker 2 (01:22:24):
I know. It's crazy. Same here right in that while
I still wait, hold on, hold on, did I just skip?
You have a camera that's sitting right in front of you,
but you don't have a laptop or I have a
computer screen that has a camera. It's not a laptop though,
six and one hand, half a dozen and the other.
So you're on like an old, old school desktop computer. Yes, yes, okay,
(01:22:46):
old school, old school computer. I'm gonna have to update
my stuff. My radio equipment's good, I have sure, Yeah,
sounds great. Yeah, but I don't, uh my my computer,
I need update. That's all right, Well, maybe we can
make that happen. We'll have to talk to the powers
that be there at Fox Sports ready to see if
they can give us a password we can easily live stream.
I'm sure it'd be simple to figure it out. Yeah,
(01:23:08):
but then I got to look decent and stuff. I can't.
Why yeah, why, I mean, it's it's what time is
it on the East Coast? It's nie, Yeah, I mean,
I don't think anyone's really gonna judge you by what
you're wearing. And knowing you, you'll probably sell a different
T shirt to a different company in Vermont. So you
wear what was the place you took your family to
the in laws the beer company? Yeah, yeah, you'll probably
(01:23:30):
have like a Burlington beer company happen. I wear for
an hour and then the year. Yeah, exactly, so that
way you can get a better deal the next time
you go eat there, I can see that eat idea.
Speaker 3 (01:23:39):
Now I wore my New York Knicks warm up shirt
or something like.
Speaker 2 (01:23:43):
That there you Go shirt, and then they could be like, hey,
look at that guy. He looks good in that shirt.
Maybe we should have him come down and shoot some
shots and see if he can add something to our roster.
Let's go. I gotta go to a game next year, man,
I really do. I'm not kidding around. You want to
hit a couple of tweets to kick off the final hour? Yes,
I do. When was the last time you went to
a sporting of it in person? Last time I'm going.
Speaker 3 (01:24:03):
I'm getting tickets to the Arizona Connecticut game.
Speaker 2 (01:24:06):
Again. You did not answer the question when was the
last time you went to a sporting event in person?
I don't. I don't remember. That wasn't your son's hockey game? Yeah,
I don't remember. It has been way too long. But
yet you're always going to go to a place, and
now you're going Laker games. Went to a lot of
Laker games, right, But I mean we're going back twenty
(01:24:26):
years now.
Speaker 3 (01:24:27):
Well, I went to like Lake Monsters's account. That's like
Single Way Baseball.
Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
I'll allow it, but I mean just professional major league,
big league stuff. It's been a minute, right, Yeah, it's
been a while. So now you see why we question
every moment. You're like, I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go
do that. Yeah, but I don't like to go to
NFL games. That's like a bother. That's an ass on that.
Why is that?
Speaker 3 (01:24:50):
Well, that just takes all day. I mean, that's all
day event. I can't do that way too long for me,
I can't pull.
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
College football is the same, not.
Speaker 3 (01:25:00):
Really, especially if you get like a late kids.
Speaker 2 (01:25:02):
When was the last time he went to a college
football game in person?
Speaker 3 (01:25:05):
It's been a while on that one too. I guess
Arizona when I was in college.
Speaker 2 (01:25:09):
Then, right, when you're in college, you haven't been to
one recently. College college games are painted the but to
try to get in and out of. Most of them
are in small towns. So you got you live on campus,
but you don't live on campus. Yeah, not anymore, not anymore. Yeah,
it's different when you're a student already that was thirty
years ago and stumble out that's it there. Yeah, oh
(01:25:33):
my gosh, all right, we hit some of these tweets
here before we get too far gone. Douglas Wrights. Watch
Aaron Rodgers have a breakout season now that he's not
with the Jets, because, as Jason Smith says, the Jets
can't have nice things.
Speaker 3 (01:25:46):
No, he's not going to break out. He's not gonna
have a fine season. I think he's gonna be really
slow out of the gate. I think age is going
to catch up with him. Pittsburgh's not known for having
a great offense anyway. They really don't have that many
weapons if you think about it. I just I'm not
buying into the fact that he's going to lead him
(01:26:06):
deep into the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
You know, Matt Stafford's like thirty seven too, He's thirty seven.
Aaron Rodgers is forty one. I mean, we're not looking
at a bunch of well, I mean, even Mahomes is
starting to get up there. I'm really rooting for an
early retirement from Patrick Mahomes. But I mean we're not
necessarily talking about a ton of spring chickens out there
when it comes to the quarterbacks in this league right now.
(01:26:30):
I mean, even what's Jared Goff like thirty now. Jared
Goff's thirty now is my Bake's thirty now? So I
mean you're you're getting there. You're getting there with a
couple of the old dogs. Yeah yeah, not Rogers quite,
but yeah, you are getting up there. Yeah no, no, yeah,
you're not quite to forty one yet. But Ossi was right.
The Steelers can have Aaron Rodgers in good luck with him.
(01:26:51):
He adds, getting Aaron Rodgers with the Steelers is like
finally hooking up. I'll use that term Ossi wise with
your high school crush when she's forty and has four kids,
that's no, it's that unfair. He doesn't have any kids.
She didn't have any kids. She would maybe a little
bit chalkier, but she didn't have any kids.
Speaker 3 (01:27:08):
Are by the way, is there gonna be inundated? Are
we gonna be seeing him playing every weekend? Or is
it too weight for that? Who's that?
Speaker 2 (01:27:16):
Rogers and Pittsburgh? Yes, you think he's gonna take days off?
Speaker 5 (01:27:21):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:27:22):
No, no, no, I meant like the networks are they
gonna Oh yeah, I thought you mean he's like, hey, listen,
we're playing the Colts this weekend. I'm gonna take this
Sunday off, I'm gonna go to India or something. That's right, exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:27:36):
No, No, I just meant that if if they're gonna
be showing him every weekend, if Pittsburgh's gonna be like
the the.
Speaker 2 (01:27:41):
Game of the week every time or something. Though, Well,
I mean they've already released the schedule, right, so I'm
wondering if it was too eight for that or they
could still make it just well they I mean, if
you kind of look at the if you kind of
look at the way it shook out, it was almost
as if even the TV networks, you know, air ya.
I mean with the way that they kind of put
(01:28:03):
things together early on in their schedule. Uh, They've got
the they put the Week eight game against the Packers
on Sunday Night Football, you know, so I get it,
Steelers Packers is always going to be a big game.
But eh, you know they got the prime video game
in Week seven with the with the Bengals. You know
everyone's going to be all over that Week one game
against the Jets. So right, I think the NFL kind
(01:28:26):
of knew what it was doing whenever they made Pittsburgh schedules.
Speaker 3 (01:28:31):
I don't don't you think yeah, Well, do they have
a lot of like Sunday night Monday night games or not?
Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
Really? Oh? I mean, I'll go look here real quick.
Speaker 3 (01:28:41):
I just think, yeah, I don't think they have the
prime sluts like that. But you're right about how the
NFL had them to play the Jets week one and
stuff like that, that that they did on purpose.
Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
There's no doubt about that. Let's see they are on
Sunday Night. Let's see one. Two, they're on Sunday Night Football, three,
on Sunday Night Football twice, Monday Night Football twice.
Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
Okay, so they're totally they were totally you say it, Okay,
he's gonna be on them, and let's feature them then.
Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
So yeah, and then let's not forget. Let's not forget
they're overseason week four. Oh wow, and they've got that
early game against the Minnesota Vikings. That's one of those
eight thirty AM waken Bank specials. I don't know what
that means. Shady Sewan told me that. But yeah, So
they're Sunday Night Football against Green Bay in week eight,
and the week before that there's the Prime game. So
(01:29:33):
they're prime time in back to back week in seventh.
I don't know why I'm giving the spart start time
Week seven against the Bengals in Cincinnati, and then Week
eight against Green Bay is on NBC. Week ten against
the Chargers is Sunday Night Football, and then Week fifteen
against Miami is Monday Night Football, and then of course
that flex game is Week eighteen. And let's not forget
(01:29:56):
you start flex scheduling. I think what is that now?
Week six, week seven?
Speaker 3 (01:30:00):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
And if they're good, they could be flexing and more
those Sunday night games.
Speaker 3 (01:30:03):
And if they're bad, they'll take about there. How do
you think they're gonna be?
Speaker 4 (01:30:05):
Though?
Speaker 3 (01:30:06):
You think Pittsburgh's could have a good year with him,
you buy it into.
Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
That or what. I don't think the Pittsburgh Steelers are
as bad as you do. I mean, they're always there.
Their defense is still incredible. You got too the best
defensive players in the NFL, you know, and Mink and
Fitzpatrick and if not maybe the best player in TJ.
Watt Cam Hayward has been doing it for fourteen years.
Speaker 3 (01:30:29):
Brutal division though, brutal, that's it.
Speaker 2 (01:30:31):
That's it, right. You're playing a tough division. And let's
remember it's not like the Bengals were lighting the world
on fire last year. Either, true, you don't know what
you're gonna get in Cleveland, so you say brutal division.
But let's say the Ravens for now. But Joe Burrow,
I just don't know. You've got DK Metcalf, you brought
in Robert Woods. I like their tight ends. I just
(01:30:53):
worry about the weapons they have. And maybe it works
out perfectly because in that instance, you have your one,
your number one guy, and you gotta focus so much
attention on it. Maybe it opens up things for some
of these other dudes.
Speaker 3 (01:31:04):
Gonna be weird seeing them in the Pittsburgh uniform, you know,
just wasn't so weird seeing them in a jet's uniform.
Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
Pittsburgh's gonna be weird. I you know what, I oddly
agree with you. I don't know why. I just it's
it's one of those things where I think you're I
think you're right. It's it doesn't make a lot of sense.
But like Joe Montana in a Chiefs uniform. You know,
but see even with with Joe Montana, Arnie, even with
Joe Montana, I mean, he still took him to like
(01:31:32):
the AFC Championship or at least on the cusp of it.
So I found this to be an interesting, just kind
of random cross shot across the bow nuke rights. I
don't understand why you guys think ratings talk is good radio.
There are better topics to discuss, guys. Well, I agree,
(01:31:54):
but I also think it's a major story in this
NBA Finals. Yeah, couldn't couldn't agree more. Maybe it's a
little bit higher on the Roman numeral rundown than it
should be because Arnie likes to troll me because I
respect Okay, see, No, it's a major story.
Speaker 3 (01:32:11):
I cut a bunch him in order I start with
the basketball, and after the Pacer game, I decided to
go to the ratings and then Doris Perks story and
stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:32:20):
The the only reason I had him at number two.
Speaker 3 (01:32:22):
And maybe he's right, maybe the average person doesn't care
about ratings.
Speaker 2 (01:32:26):
I find it interesting. I know you're fascinated. Oh, I'm
fascinated by it. But I have found that whenever people
take shots, it's like, well, you do is talk about
TV and TV ratings and you're like, well, I mean,
it's a major story. It's part of being it's part
of the sports world. Nowadays. I you know, if I
was doing the Roman numeral rundown, Yeah, if I was
in charge of fake producing the show, like Arnie, you're not,
(01:32:50):
I would have had the college sports settlement all over it.
I think that's a major story, her dad's.
Speaker 3 (01:32:56):
Story so much this week or this week and well,
I mean it just it just yeah on Friday, so
I would hope so this weekend, I'm like, really, do
we want to get into that when we had the
game finishing up?
Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
But you're right, I probably should have put that in
the run. No, no, no, well I don't pay attention to
your rundown anyway. The thing that I find interesting is
that it's it's still we've been waiting on it for
so long, and it's an incredibly seismic shift in how
college sports operates. But yeah, it's so damn boring you
talk about dude, it's just like wow, I mean, you know,
(01:33:29):
it's like out board the tears. I don't want to
hear it. I could say I waited on Friday night
and until the final segment, and even as I was
mentioning it, I was like, it's like, just it's not
real exciting. Do you want to get its salary cap
and percentage of allocations. And if it's sports and we
talked about the College Sports Commission versus real Uh what
(01:33:51):
it's the term here? Hold on organic? Nil, authentic Nil.
I mean, it's just I don't know how some of
these administrators I don't. I mean they're smart, but I
don't know how. The great joke is one stays awake
during some of these meetings. He has to be.
Speaker 3 (01:34:02):
I think that's why I didn't put it into I'm like,
you know what, I don't feel like talking about that.
Speaker 2 (01:34:06):
I don't care. I can listen. It's important, it matters,
but it's just so damn boring though. Julian Wright's just roller,
you know, okay see will be NBA Champs. Too close
to lose this after all this year, after all these years,
after all these years they've they've basically been an okay
(01:34:30):
see for just over a decade.
Speaker 3 (01:34:31):
I mean to say, like, what three years now? Come on, man,
stop that really you haven't suffered.
Speaker 2 (01:34:36):
I mean, you got it. I mean, if you think
about it, there might not be in the history Baltimore
the Ravens might be a good example, right, but in
the history of Oklahoma City being in the Sonics being
the thun of Oklahoma City. The first year was two
thousand and nine. I mean, it's not really been that long.
And by the two thousand and ten twenty eleven season,
(01:34:59):
they were in the conference finals. In their fourth year
in Oklahoma City, they played for a championship. I mean,
that's pretty good run. And then we're consistently in the
playoffs up until Kevin Durant left in twenty twenty. There
was a three year tank, maybe two and a half,
and then they're back in the playoffs. I mean, it's
(01:35:20):
a pretty incredible run for a short amount of time,
at least in my opinion, for a franchise that I
said ten, what fourteen seasons? It's fifteen seasons. Unbelievable. By
the way, are you.
Speaker 3 (01:35:31):
Are you allowed to celebrate if you're a long time
player or fan of the Seattle SuperSonics or no.
Speaker 2 (01:35:40):
Well, I say yes, but they don't want to. I think,
in fact, I'm a little bit disappointed. There is a
really good contributor to the program that will fire off
about eight texts in a row about the disdain and
the hate for the Thunder based on the way the
things ended in Seattle. Now you want to get people
riled up, you say, hey, man, Oklahoma City fans get mad,
(01:36:02):
and then Seattle fans get mad. But I'm like sure,
I mean I'd celebrated they were your team, and they
got moved here was it? Was it? I mean thirty
how they came here. I mean, that's for someone else
to decide. I just know that Oklahoma City proved they
could host a team and be the home for a
team whenever New Orleans came here and they embraced the Hornets.
(01:36:24):
And then when New Orleans went back, they got hungry
for an NBA franchise. They made the upgrades necessary on
the arena and aartie. They're building a brand new arena
downtown Oklahoma City. They're not going anywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:36:36):
A major city like Seattle that we've not replaced them
with an NBA team after all these years, I thought
for sure they would have had one to two by now.
There's too much of a major city not to have
an NBA team up there.
Speaker 2 (01:36:48):
Yeah, too much ja.
Speaker 3 (01:36:51):
By the way, that was a historic franchise that Seattle had.
I mean, that was a big time a team that
they had with the Seattle SuperSonics.
Speaker 2 (01:37:00):
The NBA Finals in nineteen ninety six, won the NBA
Finals in nineteen seventy nine with Do you remember who
the star was on that nineteen seventy nine team, Jack
Sickma Dennis Johnson. Dennis was Jack sickmaon on that team. Yeah,
I believe. So let me look at their starting line
up here real quick, I Believeington. Yeah, the point old
(01:37:20):
point guard for the Celtics that had the great run. Rip.
But yeah, I mean that's I mean, that's a historic franchise.
Where where's the next numbers? Some of them I kick
off the top of my head. Well, I figured you
would know them all whenever I brought them up. But
the nineteen seventy nine NBA Finals. Do you even remember
(01:37:41):
who they beat in the nineteen seventy nine NBA Finals? No,
they call it the most forgotten championship in NBA history.
Whenever they won the NBA Finals over the Washington Bullets,
Gus Williams, Jack Sigma DJ. I mean, just what an
(01:38:05):
incredible run. So yeah, people don't like to talk about it, now,
aren't you they? They they keept mad? Here? You want
to you want some names on that squad? Real quick?
I mentioned Gus Williams. Paul Silas was on that team.
I think former Celtic Lonnie Shelton, Yeah, former New York
Nick I remember Lennie Shelton. Was it Tom Legarde or
(01:38:27):
Tom Leguard, I don't remember, think it was Tom mcguard,
but yeah, Fred Brown was on that team. Downtown. Freddie
Brown was on that squad. Yeah, and the they didn't
have a first round pick that year, but in the
second round they took James Lee out of Kentucky. So
there you go. Just I've got no right, but I
feel like, and I'd mentioned Jack Sigma. I feel like
(01:38:49):
they all should embrace it. But I understand why they don't.
And I and because it got so hostile between Seattle
fans that were po that was coming to Oklahoma City,
then Oklahoma City that were getting mad, that would get mad.
It's like it's our team now, A's like your city sucks, well,
your city couldn't keep them. You know all these things
that you know lead to adversity and strife. I just
(01:39:11):
I'm like, hey, let bygones be bygones. Seattle never got
another team. I don't know if anyone's knocking on the
door to make it happen. I feel like when we
talked about there was.
Speaker 3 (01:39:19):
A big name, one of the big rich guys was
talking about bringing the team back up the Seattle I
can't remember.
Speaker 2 (01:39:25):
Was it the guy that on an oracle? I can't
remember off the top of my head. Maybe, But I'm
just saying. I mean, when you hear about expansion in
the NBA, you hear about Vegas, and you hear about Nashville. Yes,
and I wish you'd hear more about Seattle. I think
did they deserve a franchise? And you know what also sucks.
If they just could have made it one more year,
they were really good. If they could have made it
(01:39:46):
one more year, they were really good, and I think
that would have made all the difference in the world.
But they didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:39:52):
I am not that was what a stadium issue?
Speaker 2 (01:39:54):
Is that what it was?
Speaker 6 (01:39:54):
That was?
Speaker 2 (01:39:55):
That's right, Yeah, that's right. It was a stadium issue
and they couldn't get things worked out in time, all right.
Jason Rights As an NHL fan, the Stanley Cup Finals
has been so much fun. Two games both going over
time and the Oilers trying to end twenty three seasons
without a championship. For Canada, I'm glued for them. I
want to see. I'm glued. What a great finish on Friday? Huh?
(01:40:17):
How many? How many assists? Paul coffee? After that? Are
you really doing this? After week? People fired up? And
you're wrong. It was Yari Curry who had the most assistance.
I played NHL ninety four the other night. I was
so into hockey. There you go? Can I read? Can
I read Douglas's real quick?
Speaker 3 (01:40:35):
It says I understand why Arnie doesn't go to too
many sporting events living in Vermont.
Speaker 2 (01:40:40):
I live in.
Speaker 3 (01:40:40):
Southern Vermont, and it takes me three hours just to
get to Boston and see a Red Sox game.
Speaker 2 (01:40:46):
So there you go. What just the there's the amount
of time to get there? Yeah, I mean this is
all you have to get a hotel and you got
to do that whole thing.
Speaker 11 (01:40:54):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
I live in Oklahoma, Okay, I'm a three hour drive
to anything major League Baseball, if not more. If I
want to go, I go. I think that's soft Douglas.
I think that's soft Arnie. I think guy three hours
is And again, I love road trips too. It's not
that big of a trip. Get you home by two way,
stay up late. Anyway, You're fine, go to games Man
(01:41:15):
Live a little.
Speaker 3 (01:41:16):
You You missed the name on that Seattle team, Mike
sends in, Oh, yeah, Marvin Webster, remember him, the human Eraser?
Speaker 2 (01:41:24):
Marvin Webster, the human human Eraser.
Speaker 3 (01:41:26):
I think he used to also play up for the
New York Knicks, if I remember correctly.
Speaker 2 (01:41:31):
I don't think he was on that team.
Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
Okay, well, Marvin Well, I remember him, well, the human Eraser.
Speaker 2 (01:41:36):
They used to call him. You don't remember that guy?
I know, I remember him. I just they don't have
him here on the roster. That I was great nicknamed
the human Eraser. I mean, I'd go with that nickname
all the time. I think that's what it was. If
that you don't even know? Do you know who their
first round pick was? The following season, they took Vinnie
the Microwave Johnson, Oh, get out of here. The Seattle
(01:41:58):
SuperSonics in nineteen seventy nine won the NBA title, and
somehow for the nineteen seventy nine NBA draft had both
the sixth and seventh picks in the draft. How does
that happen? I love that? I love it all right.
I had two other tweets I wanted to get you
before we grab a break. By the way at Stinking
Genius One, I'm at playing show. Everybody go follow us
(01:42:19):
At Fox Sports Radio, Darryl brings up a great point
in Oklahoma City sneak into the playoffs even after dreft
To left and Russ starred at stat Padding. They gifted
him an MVP for averaging a triple double despite the
mediocre record. I sure would like to see Indiana pull
this thing off. That would be great. Well I wouldn't,
but I do. I mean, it's kind of interesting because
(01:42:40):
the season that still blows my mind about OKC is
Sam Presty had decided that listen the best way to
try to get back to where they are after Kevin
Durant and Kevin Durant left for Golden State, they won
their titles. Russell Westbrook had his MVP season in twenty seventeen,
(01:43:01):
but they realized they're not getting anywhere. Yeah, that three
straight first round exits. I think it was four straight
first round exits. So they made the trade of Westbrook
right after getting bringing in Paul George and I winning
a damn thing, and they brought in Chris Paul and
they actually had a pretty good season. They they made
the playoffs and they were gonna start this tank, and
(01:43:22):
they had a pretty good season. But after the Chris
Paul season of twenty twenty, they leaned right into I
think that was the COVID year. That's whenever they went
to Billy Donovan and said, Okay, buddy, we're just not tanking.
We're like super tanking. We're like gonna start dudes you've
never heard of before. So if you went out, now's
the time to get out. And they went three years
(01:43:42):
where Arnie they were really really bad, twenty two and fifty,
twenty four and fifty eight. Mark Dagnall like they had
SGA through all of this, taking the growing pains, and
then things started to turn a bit. So my question
to you is, how is it that this tank has worked?
We're so many others have failed.
Speaker 3 (01:44:02):
Yeah, look at the Philadelphia fans. I mean, this is
what they were hoping they were going to get when
they said trust the process. But that's right, it was
a big blow up. It never turned into anything like this.
This was the real trust your process. Yeah, and look
what it turned into.
Speaker 2 (01:44:15):
You know, it took. It took maybe and I'm maybe
getting a little lucky with Shay Gilgess Alexander becoming the star, right,
maybe getting a little lucky on that front. And Arnie
I would also add, you know you took a chance
with chet Holmgrin. Yes, well you had other options there
at number two overall, and they took col Grind and
he's ended up being a good player. You hit on
(01:44:35):
Jalen Williams Jada in that same draft. So, I don't know,
It's just it's a pretty wild story when you look
at the seventy six ers. I mean even the Rockets
to a certain extent, I think are seeing some promise
from it, right, Detroit, Right, how long have they been
trying to dig out of their tank? Right? Even the
Super super Sonics, I'm sorry, even the Spurs, right, the
San Antonio Spurs, Adam, It's just wild. Whenever you think
(01:44:59):
about how this team went from being as bad as
they were like three, like four or five years ago
and where they are, you know, Ted one in the
NBA Finals. It's pretty incredible, all right. We do have
to break when we come back, a lot of good stuff,
a lot of good stuff from the Twitter machine at
stinking Genius one. I'm at playing show. Everyone go follow
us at Fox Sports Radio. But there was one Roman
(01:45:19):
numeral on here that we haven't talked about yet, and
I call it the Great one eighty. We'll dive into
it next on Fox Sports Radio. All right, it's already
in playing, coming to you live for the Fox Sports
Radio studios. Mary's got some jams cooking to night. I
love it. I love it, Mary Mack running the show,
(01:45:40):
Ian Roddy, our producer Martin Wise crushed it on updates.
He'll be in all night long, Arnie, Roman numeral number seven.
I believe what I want to talk about here, right
we uh, we're gonna get you some postgame reaction. You'll
hear from Mark Dagnault, you'll hear from Shay Gil just Alexander.
You'll hear from Jalen Williams. After the thunder win one
(01:46:02):
twenty three to one oh seven, SGA had thirty four points.
I think we're walking to Indianapolis, Indiana for Game three
of this series, because what is it Wednesday when they're
finally gonna play again? Is that right?
Speaker 3 (01:46:15):
But so yeah, by the way, there was a bet
that you could bet that SJ would have thirty plus
points every.
Speaker 2 (01:46:23):
Game right, what and you get like, I think it
was close to three to one on something like that.
What did you think I would have taken it? Of course,
I've watched him every game this year, so I kind
of think thirty is easy. I mean he's two for two. Yeah,
he's two for two. He's only scored I think he's
only scored under thirty what ones in the last few games?
(01:46:44):
Is that right? So? Where did you take it? No?
What am I told you? Don't gamble?
Speaker 3 (01:46:52):
I didn't take it, But I'm like, I don't know
if I do it for every game, especially you know,
if you you're getting blown out on the road and
maybe you're getting.
Speaker 2 (01:47:01):
Sitt a little bit for game three, because it's like,
do you expect him to get blown out on the road? No,
I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:47:05):
I don't think it's going to happen. I don't think
they'll get blown out. I think they'll be two close
games the next two games.
Speaker 2 (01:47:10):
I think I think we're gonna have two really good games.
So stuff at all, you small market nerds. But we'll
hear from the stars in a bit. But last week
you made it very clear Ian Roddy is my witness.
Do you don't want Giannis with the Knicks. No, didn't.
We still feel that way, Yes, still feel that way,
even with all the buzz building that the Knicks are
(01:47:32):
going to put together a massive offer to try to
go get him.
Speaker 3 (01:47:37):
I feel the buzz is when you first texted me
earlier in the week, that was buzz man he was
going to come. But then again, since that first report,
I've been hearing more about Toronto, more Detroit, more Miami more.
That also one report that he was gonna stay in
Milwaukee all before he would come to the New York Knicks.
So I think the Knicks are like a fourth or
(01:47:59):
fifth option right now.
Speaker 2 (01:48:01):
According to I mean, listen, I'm gonna give credit where
credit is due, even though I don't know half these people.
But Jake Fisher on Bleacher Report said that the ante
Ta Coompo trade market is very quiet and teams are
increasingly coming to the idea that he is not going
(01:48:21):
to hit the open market. Are and he is not
going to hit the open market. One league source echoed that,
telling NBC Sports that his team was in a weight
and CE mode and whatever decision that Giannis and the
Bucks make, it will likely be closer to the NBA Draft, which,
by the way, I guess you've got to give kudos
(01:48:45):
to the NBA because they really don't mess around. Like
the draft is literally on June twenty fifth. I mean,
it's like sixteen days away. They're going to wrap the
final up and then we're gonna have the draft that
next week. So if it's gonna we're only talking sixteen days.
But I think what I've found, at least in my
opinion on he since the middle of the night James
(01:49:05):
Harden trade to Houston, Like what we're going back eleven
twelve years ago, you're not really sneaking things in. Honestly, Well,
I say that as the Luka Doncich trade kind of
came out of nowhere exactly, but whenever it's somebody who,
like Luca, had never been talked about being traded. But
we've heard talk about Yannis maybe wanning out for a
(01:49:27):
couple of years now, right, So this isn't really anything new.
So I wonder, I wonder if I don't think they'll
be able to sneak one in is what I'm They're
not gonna be able to Luka. This thing where all
of a sudden, one minute, you wake up it's like,
oh my gosh, Yannis is a rocket or something like that, right, No,
I understand.
Speaker 3 (01:49:44):
I think they'll do that with Kevin Durant though, I
think he's gonna get traded for too.
Speaker 2 (01:49:48):
But I also think that's gonna be one that we're
gonna sit around and wait for a while to figure
out who what's he worth and who's gonna give up
what for him?
Speaker 3 (01:49:56):
Why you don't think there's you think that they're asking
too much for him or he.
Speaker 2 (01:49:59):
Has I just don't think they need to be in
a rush right right, because you're not going to get
draft picks this year for him. I mean, who really
has draft picks this year that wants to go get them.
Another possibility is that there will be no bidding war,
that Giannis will inform the Bucks that they can only
trade him to one or two teams, and if a
(01:50:21):
fear deal is not found there, it will end there
and he'll stay in Milwaukee. That's that is strong possibility.
I'm surprised that the Lakers are not an option.
Speaker 3 (01:50:33):
I always thought that when he would hit the open market,
that he'd want to go to a big market like
La and you know, maximize his true earning potential.
Speaker 2 (01:50:42):
But I guess then he has enough money. He really
doesn'tenough to go to Los Angeles for that. But again
it's it's not necessary. There's no team being mentioned here though.
That's the thing, right, I mean, he can decide, hey,
I want to go Let's say the Thunder get beat. Okay.
He can decide I'm gonna go play with Shae, and
who has more resources to deal right now than the Thunder.
(01:51:05):
He could decide, hey, I kind of like what's going
on with Lebron and Luca with the Lakers. That's where
I want to go. And if you can't work something
out there, then I'll just stay here. Maybe maybe he
says I want to go play with Stephanie. I mean,
all these things are possibilities, Stephen, Jimmy Butler. We just
don't know right now. And the rumor is that the
Knicks might come to Milwaukee and say here's what we're
(01:51:27):
willing to give up. But you're staying staunch on this
in your mind where you're like, I don't care, I
don't want them, I don't want to give up. I
don't want to give up towns.
Speaker 3 (01:51:34):
I know everybody's really bitter on Towns and the way
he played defense, and it certainly looks a little out
of shape, but I like him, so I want to
keep him around. And now you he would have to
go if you end up getting you. Honest, I got
a feeling.
Speaker 2 (01:51:47):
Well, I think he I think he's gonna go anyway.
The way the things sound right now, don't you? It's
saying ty cat is it? It's unbelievable. I don't know
if I've I don't know if I've seen anything. One
eighty is quick on Karl Anthony Towns as it did
after the Eastern Conference Finals to where he was, Oh
(01:52:08):
my gosh, look at the difference. We won the trade.
Take that Minnesota, We're going to Eastern Conference Finals. All
of a sudden, after the Knicks get knocked out of
the Eastern Conference Finals, he's not doing what he's supposed
to defensively. There's whispers and he's not listening to the coach, Like, wait,
how did this flip so quickly? You're areny in the
Eastern Conference Finals and he would pick up so many
stupid foul fowls.
Speaker 3 (01:52:28):
So that was killing me. Man, it was unbelievable that
I'm like, dude, so that golf a little bit. When
you pick up three straight fouls and you're gonna pick
up the fourth before half time, what are you doing
out there?
Speaker 2 (01:52:39):
Yeah, so it was a pretty quick one eighty. But
put Arnie Spaniard in the camp that does not A
want to get rid of Karl Anthony Towns and B
see the Knicks pursue Jannis at all, not at all.
Speaker 3 (01:52:54):
No, I'm let him go somewhere else. I really was
hoping he'd go to the Lakers. I really want them to, Like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:53:00):
You're ending that when it's not a possibility, when it's
not something that's over Like you're saying, well, I wanted
to see him go here, but we don't know that.
That's not there's no rumors out there about it. There's
no rumors about anything right now. I just read you
the rumors that are out there. There's nothing. Everyone's like,
what's going on. The rumor is New York's going to
put together an offer and you're grinching and moaning about it.
(01:53:21):
After the game tonight, as we segue back to more
timely topics, Rick Carlisle talked about the challenge of getting
points in the paint against the thunder.
Speaker 12 (01:53:32):
They were the best in the league during the year.
It's keeping people out of there, and so they're great
at it. We've got to find ways to get the
ball in there, and you know, it's just there are
so many things that have to go right on a
set of two possessions to get the ball into the
heart of their defense. You know, you've got to get
(01:53:54):
you've got to get a stop, a rebound, you've got
to be able to get the ball at the floor
without a turnover, and then you've got to be able
to get it into the lane into the rim. And
it's it's a tough task. So yeah, we'll look at it.
There were there were some stretches where we did some
good things attacking the paint, but there weren't enough.
Speaker 2 (01:54:16):
I'm really surprised with the way the Thunder play, and you,
being an alleged basketball die hard, I'm really surprised you
don't like them because of how good they played defensively.
Speaker 3 (01:54:28):
Well, you know, I heard from the Pacer fans going
to surprise, I don't like the Pacers considering there's two
foot University of Arizona players on the in the other
Pacer roster.
Speaker 2 (01:54:37):
You know, well, this is more in me trying to
appeal to that alleged basketball side that you have. You
always complain about no one plays defense. Now you have
a team that does, and you complain about it.
Speaker 3 (01:54:48):
I'm not complaining about it. It's just that, I mean,
I'm a Knicks fan, die Hard. It's it's hard for
me to just jump out another bandwagon team unless it's
the Lakers once my Knicks get eliminated.
Speaker 2 (01:55:00):
You know, I kind of like the Wake. I got
a soft side for the Lakers. Shake Gil Just Alexander
afterwards talked about for the Thunder, there's still a lot
of areas they can get better. Do we just use
opportunity to get better.
Speaker 4 (01:55:13):
We've done a really good job, really good job that
all year and last game is no different. Tonight is
the same thing. We did some things good. Tonight we
did something's bad, and we gotta be able to get.
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
Better and get ready for Game two nine. Anything else
you want to add on the NBA Finals, aren't you?
Speaker 7 (01:55:28):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:55:28):
I just is it over yet? Are we done with
it yet?
Speaker 4 (01:55:31):
Or no?
Speaker 2 (01:55:31):
We still got a bunch of games left. Well, we
got another segment, so we're almost done. But just I'm
in in general after Game two tonight, are you ready
to be done with it? You want to just talk football?
You don't have to twist my arm, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:55:42):
I know you well, you're a big football guy. I'm
ready to get in the football. So I'm so excited
about the football season this year. I don't know what
it is. I feel like we're right here too. It's
already June eighth, so let's get going. Usually we get
heavy in the football right.
Speaker 2 (01:55:57):
Around June, you know, and at least late June. All right,
Arnie Span, you're done with our NBA final talk, which
means his picks are coming up next year. On Fox
Sports Radio, Stick Around, Let's go Final segment Arnie and
plank Ere on Fox Sports Radio. Great job, Mary Mack Tonight,
(01:56:18):
Harley got to talk to you. No, You're busy. Ian
Roddy produced a great program. Thanks to Mark Medina for
joining us, and he's gonna put the podcast up as
soon as we're done. So if you missed any of
tonight's program, be sure to check out the podcast. Search
Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your pot and be
sure to follow and review the podcast. Rated five stars
(01:56:38):
and say something nice about Arnie. Yeah again to search
Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcast, and you'll
see today's show posted right after we get off the air.
Speaker 3 (01:56:47):
Did the produc server say why he texted me with
one out in the ninth inning?
Speaker 10 (01:56:52):
Do you care about our schedule people to say something
nice about you?
Speaker 2 (01:56:55):
Yeah, review, I know, right, the same reason why you
have no problems us a text at five in the morning,
because you're up and it's three am in the West
Coast clock out in the ninth.
Speaker 3 (01:57:10):
Again, Arnie, you know, I'm very superstitious when I'm watching
the games.
Speaker 2 (01:57:14):
You have no care for anyone else's schedule.
Speaker 3 (01:57:17):
I wasn't watching it on my big screen TV, or
I was watching it on my phone.
Speaker 2 (01:57:22):
So then it just you swipe the text up and you.
Speaker 10 (01:57:25):
Get large kind of a lot of faith thinking he
can know how to swipe the text.
Speaker 2 (01:57:29):
That's a very good point, Mary mac that's a very
good point. Well, yeah, that's uh. I guess we didn't
get to the bottom of it, except to say you
you could probably he could probably ask the same thing,
why you decide to send him the roman numeral rundown
at three am on Saturday when the show's all Wow,
that might might help out a little bit. All right,
steak a genius. What you got for us to night
in your picks?
Speaker 3 (01:57:49):
Let's go give me a little music, put me in
the mood. We got a lot of games to get
to start with Gay number three with the NBA Finals.
Speaker 2 (01:57:57):
Oh Goopen, isn't gonna win that game? Good?
Speaker 3 (01:58:00):
The fact that the not gonna play till Wednesday is
gonna actually help them more.
Speaker 2 (01:58:06):
Like them.
Speaker 3 (01:58:07):
Then they're gonna win Game t But Indiana bounces back
game four on a Friday night. This series is gonna
be tied to two games apiece as they head back
to Oklahoma City. Bad break for Oklahoma City. Their game
back home is on a Monday night. No weekend game,
no Saturday, no Sunday. What's up with that play? I
(01:58:27):
don't like that at all. I thought for sure it
would have been on a Sunday and if I got
Oklahoma City winning in seven, so we'll stick with that.
I got my Arizona Wildcats in the.
Speaker 2 (01:58:38):
College World Series. I told you they'd win the regionals.
I told you they win.
Speaker 3 (01:58:43):
The Super Regionals and they're gonna beat Coastal Carolina Resort
or whatever school they are, and then we'll go on
to win this whole thing. So I think it woulda
been Arizona at like ten or fifteen to one when
it's all said and done, And I don't know how
they're gonna do it. But the next coach for my
New York Knicks, even though I thought I s a
(01:59:05):
report that they're not allowed to talk to them, will
be Jason Kids. So there you have my picks, two
of them, as you please. No longer strictly Fred Entertainment
purposes only.
Speaker 2 (01:59:16):
So even though the report is from who'd I say,
Mark Mark stein Stein's, even though the stein line has
said it ain't happening, Arnie Spaniers here to tell you
that it is happening. Yeah, I think they're gonna end
up figuring out how to get Chason kidds. True. You
promising that. No, I'm not promising that, that's for sure.
(01:59:36):
I'm not gonna promise that at all. That's become my
new favorite thing is when Arnie's like, oh, I promise
you it's gonna happen. I'm like, you can't promise anything.
Speaker 3 (01:59:43):
I promise you Arizona was gonna win the regionals and
the super Regionals.
Speaker 2 (01:59:47):
Yeah, you also promised me the Dolphins were going to
the Super Bowl each of the last ten years, and
when I get Arizona to win the Big twelve in football,
probably pretty good odds. Right now, I think they're gonna
be picked pretty low, maybe even like next to last.
On that front. I hate there was one Roman Numeral
thing here that I was gonna kind of tap out on.
But I think this might be a night where I've
(02:00:08):
hit almost all of them. Yeah, Roman Numeral three. The
criticism of Doris Burke.
Speaker 3 (02:00:16):
I just thought that was interesting. They it was criticism
about taking her off the broadcast, and everybody was coming
to her defense. It was absolutely crazy. God forbid you
should criticize Doris Burke. Everybody came to defender was unsid.
Speaker 2 (02:00:31):
It was pretty well. When you when you literally call
someone a foul merchant on the air and then you'd
go double down on it, I think you're going to
enrage one fan base. But I got to tell you something,
no one can save that ESPN show. Arnie the esp
I don't know I was talking to you about it.
It's just terrible. The pregame and post game stuff is
the worst I've ever seen. Thank God you have Ben
(02:00:51):
Mallor here for your NBA post game show coming up
next right here on Fox Sports Radio. Have a great week.
