Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh, let's go, steaky genius, let's go, let's go.
Speaker 3 (00:07):
NBA starts Tuesday, let's go NBA.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
Just get it all out ahead.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
I was.
Speaker 3 (00:14):
I was watching the next preseason game on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
No, you weren't.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Yeah, they were playing the Cavaliers.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
You saw the score. You were watching college football on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Well, I was watching the scroll, keeping keeping updated on
the score. That's not I did listen. I did listen
to the Arizona basketball game. I did listen to that.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
They put a basketball game that's an exit. That's not
even an exhibition, that's a club. It was exhibition. It
was exhibition. Yeah, I was on the radio. You know
what I don't like.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
I don't mind losing, I don't mind getting, but I
hate getting ripped off. Did you see the Arizona game.
They had such an atrocious call on that one where
the guy was out of bounds, and they look at
it again in a review and they still say, oh, no,
it's good enough to catch the guy was like in
the third row when he caught it, if he caught
it at all. I'm just so sick and tired of
(01:01):
losing on bogus calls. It's like every call goes against
my team. Every call goes against the Arizona Wildcats, every
call goes against the Miami Dolphins every time too. It's
sure you know there's something there's something wrong with you,
because not only do my teams lose. When I say
stuff like the Colts of the worst team in the NFL,
(01:23):
they turn they turn out to be the best team
in the NFL. It's like it's one thing that to
be the worst, but it's like a complete flip flop
they turn out to be the best.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yeah, it's only someone might have said, Hey, dude, I
don't think that's a good take on the Colts. Are
you Dolphins? Because you knew they were going to be
the best? You knew that one told you they were
gonna be the worst?
Speaker 3 (01:44):
How many weekends in a row? Is it where my
Wildcats and my Dolphins have lost every every weekend? I
just I am going to open up the whole can
of whoop ass when Arizona plays basketball against everybody. We
opened up against Florida. That will show that. But we're
gonna kick everybody's out.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah on a football show, let's talk about your Arizona
basketball team.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Come on, I have nothing else. I have nothing else
to go for me. Let's you know what it's like.
I'm the one single guy that goes to the party
where everybody else has couples. And all I could talk
about is, yeah, I go on dating sides and you know,
I go, I go to speed dating. I don't do
the same things you guys do. My team loses. I
don't have the same enjoyment from sports like everybody else
(02:32):
is out there.
Speaker 5 (02:33):
What you say, Mary, that's someone's real life, by the way.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
Yeah, actually, wow is that? Yeah? Whenever you're with Mary
friends and you've got to be the single one, it's
actually kind of a fun life because they.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
I'm not having the fun life everybody. And I see
everybody all dressed up in their team jerseys and they're
enjoying the game, and they're like, if we win here,
we'll get a good playoff spot, we're gonna go we're
gonna go deep, we're gonna go to the super Bowl.
And and my team is this and my Dodgers will
go to the World Series, and the NBA is starting
and I get nothing, I get no enjoyment. I get
(03:09):
I get zero enjoyment out of sports.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
I get.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
I get nothing.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
By the way, yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
It must be I get.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
I mean you think I would get some type of
enjoyment like why it makes me happy or something.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
I don't even get that. I'm not being serious. Why
do you think you should get some type of enjoyment
from it over anyone else because you're the bigger You're
the bigger fan. Is that your take on this?
Speaker 3 (03:31):
I take I do take it a little a little
harder than everybody else on the rest of you.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
You national radio program to complain about it. So that's
that's pretty unique to no one else really has.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Why can't I just get one team that gives me
a little bit of hope, Just just one team that's that's.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
Going to win it?
Speaker 3 (03:48):
When one team to to make me happy? Why do
all my teams have to just suck? They just have
to be like bottom? The Dolphins lost to the Browns.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
We got we got crushed. Who I felt I was there?
Who gets crushtrated? At least you lost in Kansas.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Any big time chooses to the Browns like that. I
the Brown's ever beat anybody like that in like a
hundred years. I don't I think Brian Sipe was the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
I don't beat the Packers earlier this year.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
It's not a bad loss. Come on, man, the only
loss by what? Three touchdowns? Yeah, it could have been
four or five? How many?
Speaker 3 (04:22):
I want you to look up? Right? Is that our
producer that I never know?
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Look up?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
How many times did to fumble the ball?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Or you intercept? Up yourself? Nobody?
Speaker 3 (04:31):
I don't want to, but I don't want to look
it up. I don't want to get aggravated. I don't
want to look it up. Wow, I thought, by the way,
and he threw how many interceptions? I bet you threw
like two.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Or three in three interceptions?
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Oh, that's not bad. Six turnovers, that's pretty good. That
that's that's not gonna hurt our team at all.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
That's one of them was a pick six too. I
it just it just it's like it's like the.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Soul leaving your the sports soul leaving your body. Really,
it's horrible. It's like every every weekend, I go in
such a good mood and I come out Sunday night
and I'm miserable.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
It's just horrible. Well, you got to prepare yourself. I mean,
you're you're past the point of thinking your team is
going to be good, so you got to quit get
It's just it's what I've done in the NFL. I
don't expect anything. I just expecting me to get their
ass kicked every week. Do you watch the games? Then
I watched the other I watch the red zone. I
(05:26):
watch the red zone, and if the Raiders are on,
and like, for instance, today today the Raiders Chiefs game
was on locally, so I I that was it. They
were able to bail out of that at the end
of the first quarter. But you know what, I didn't.
I ain't care. I expect it. In fact, I think
I had it picked in my uh non eliminator challenge.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
I don't even care if I expected to see.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
That's how this is the part.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Of the show where you shrug it off like.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
That's right, because I'm not going to ruin everyone's night
by complaining about a one and six football team.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
It goes into my soul.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Man, you have no I did.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
It's like our boss who loses all the time as
he's he's a Minnesota fan.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
You could see I would like you say that it
takes years.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Off his life for crying out loud every time his
team loses.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
I'm the same way.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
It's horrible.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
By the way, I should mention, what was the final
score of that game tonight? Which game? Which game?
Speaker 3 (06:18):
You?
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Your Brown's loss to the Dolphins? What was it like?
Thirty one? Six? Is that? Is that right? Exactly?
Speaker 6 (06:25):
Damn?
Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah? Did we score that many? No? Barely. It's the
first time that the Browns have beaten a team by
double digits since January seventh of twenty twelve. Would be
twenty four at the end of the twenty three season.
That was the year they went eleven and six. Oh, actually,
hold on, hold on, that's incorrect. I apologize. It was
December twenty fourth of twenty twenty three, the last time
(06:50):
that the Browns beat a team that badly.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
That's so painful too, you know what I mean? And
you know what's the sick part is you and I
are too. Our teams are the like two of the
three worst teams in the NFL. If it wasn't for
Jason Smith's New York Jets. I mean, all three were
the bottom three feeders in the NFL. It's horrible and
it just kills me every time.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
You know what, I want to correct myself because I
did just make it, and I want to make sure
that we get this right because I do think that
it's a little bit unfair. That is the first time
that the Browns have actually beaten a team by double digits.
I was incorrect. It was actually a week later, so
it was December thirtieth of twenty twenty three. So I
apologize on how long ago it was the Jets, but
(07:38):
I mean, okay, so it was a high school They
beat the Texans and the Jets, and back to back
weeks by double digits. The year they went to the playoffs,
the year whenever they were able to rest their starters
in the final week of the season, when Joe Flacco
was their quarterback, When did the Jets play the Dolphins?
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Because the Judgs are that's your only win so far
this year. Yeah, and that's when the Jets get their.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Only win December seventh. I don't want to go see that.
I can't see that. You go to Falcons next week.
By the way, this is a fun Sunday night football
game if you want to get to it already. If
you just want to sit here and play about the
Dolphins all night long, I'm down for whatever paycheck still clears.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
I go, I mean, just it bothers that because I
thought this was going to be our year. Last year
we were making a little progress, and now we got
to get rid.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Of our coach. You think quarter it's going to be
your year. You and I have done this together for
a dozen a decade, twelve years, whatever it is. And
every year, every year you come into this show in
from February, well actually from January when your team's eliminated,
through about August. So what is that that's eight months
(08:44):
telling us how this is the Dolphins year. You're going
to the super Bowl. No one's going to be able
to stop you. Oh you know, Oh you promise, Oh
I guarantee our things. We hear quite a bit, and
every year, every year we tell you the same. I
don't know, man, We'll see how it plays. Because I
don't need hold on a second. Let me just tell
(09:04):
you what we've got it. We've got to deal with this. Right.
We're like the family that's sitting you down because you
have an issue. Here. Okay, we're on the couch and
we got a counselor right here with us to say, bro,
you got to reset your expectations because you're doing this
to yourself and it's your own fault. And it happens
every single year. You if you win against It Lanta
(09:25):
next week, if you beat it Lanta next week, you'll
come in and going, I bet we can win four
in a row. We were one and seven and made
the playoffs one year, which, by the way, I had
to remind you that you even did, because Landon Roberts
brought it up last week.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
I decide, you know what, I disagree with that. I
don't think we won that many games in a row.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
I don't think you did win that many games in
our I think you finished the year like nine and
eight made the playoffs or nine and yes.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
I don't know what he's talking about. I just gosh, man,
you know I I it's twelve years. But you think
one year, I'd be right. You think one year, by accident,
the Dolphins would be good. By by accident, they say, hey,
look at us, man, we're like twelve and four, we're
pretty good.
Speaker 2 (10:04):
Dead in this year.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
I can't even get it right. By accident. It is horrible.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Oh oh, hold on, I got to correct. He said
they didn't make the playoffs, but they on the cusp
of making the playoffs, because that's when you won seven
in a row to get to eight and seven and
then you lost your last two games to get We're
not going on I'm ready to say we're not going
on the plane. Well, no, you're not, because I've lived
this with you. You beat it Land next week, or
you follow one seven and then you win the following,
(10:30):
you're going to come in and go I think we
got hot. It just takes one win. We knowles, we've
been here. You I can crackhead.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
You are a voodoo doll and you're sticking pins in it.
And it's a little voodoo doll of me in a
Dolphin uniform and you're just sticking in it. And between
you and that rooting against me, you're killing us right now.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Us busted because I sure as tech wouldn't want to
do that. I don't know Texas or Alabama or things
that truly matter to me, not your stupid Dolphins that
I hear about all the time. There's no way your
dude survives, right, I mean, there's no way he's going
to be the coach come monday, is he.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
I didn't think he'd be the coach right now. I
thought we'd be talking about who's gonna be the new
head coach of the Miami Dolphins tonight.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
That's what I thought was gonna be. Well, they're not.
They usually at least wait until the morning. I mean,
we know the handful of times when guys have been fired.
Wayne Kiffin getting left on the tarmac at usc post game,
Jack Oh, Jack Young? But who am I thinking? Who's
the Raiders? Jack del Rio? Whenever he came like Mark
just fired, Wade Phillips got fired on the plane. Is
(11:31):
this where you tell us that you had the scoop
on that. No, he did. He just got fired on
the plane.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
It was common knowledge, that's all you just Jerry said,
can you go on this plane with me so I
can fire you?
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Is that how he said it?
Speaker 3 (11:43):
No?
Speaker 2 (11:43):
He just can you come on this point with me?
All right? Well are you good now? Are you finished?
Or can we talk about the rest of the league.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Or do you want to kill me?
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Am I going to do for the rest of October November?
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Watch other football games cover the league, like the the
Arnie Army wants you to watch all other games now
that they back up your terrible picks that you have.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
Well, there is certain things I'm on a mission for.
I usually root against your raiders, so you could be
miserable like me, but you're already out of it. So
oh yeah, we're My next mission is to make Willard
miserable and root against San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Well, they're about to win Sunday Night foot Barley forty
forty go, They're up twenty to ten.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
I mean show, it's a little bit tough on that,
so I can't get that going. And then our producers
a Seattle fan, so I root against Seattle too.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Well in a Minnesota fan. He's got two teams some.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Does he really you know this?
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Oh you can't listen? Oh gosh, what you got ten?
Like Army, Arnie actually cares about your fans, But I
feel same way. Yeah. I was in Philadelphia for three
days and Arnie to even ask about it for an
entire show until I finally brought it up at the end.
I'm like, you know, it's a Philly this week. He's like,
all right, here's my picks. He doesn't care about you.
I don't care about me or anyone else.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
I'm an AFC East fan. How about that?
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Then?
Speaker 3 (12:53):
I just like every team in the AFC.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Well, you can't really say that because you spent all year,
you spent all this time destroying New England, destroying Buffalo,
talking about how terrible they are, I mean, counting down
until the window closes for Buffalo. It's not like you've
you've really, I don't know, allowed yourself some grace in these.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
There's no combination for Minnesota Seattle, you get no, there's
no tie in there. You're just picking random teams. Now,
you're just jumping on the bandwagon.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
It's just not even I've been a fan of boz
since to just say, how are you jumping on the
bandwagon of two teams that happened won a Super Bowl
in a while, one of them that's never won a
Super Bowl. I'll jump on the bandwagon. Explain that. Show
your work on that one, please. Yeah, we'll get to
that later on. Okay, listen, it looks like it looks
(13:43):
like here as we kick things off tonight, that we're
on the precipice of some interesting storyline develop developing in
the National Football League. Number One, are the Niners getting right?
They're up twenty to seven. At twenty to ten with
minute thirty seven left, in the game we're following Sunday
Night Football. Could the Commanders who stumbled today and got
(14:05):
smoked by the Cowboys? Could they be on the cusp
of losing their starting quarterback for several weeks? And by
the way, the only time the Commanders have looked good
this year is when they played the stupid Readers. Could
the Jets be in the midst of a quarterback change.
Could the Dolphins be in the midst of a quarterback change.
Could one of the more high profile jobs in the
college football world be available? In fact, one of them
(14:28):
is Florida is available. Billy Napier got fired today. And oh,
by the way, I haven't even mentioned everybody's two favorite
words in sports are happening. We got a game seven
tomorrow in the American League Championship Series. So through all
your complaining and your grinching and moaning, there's a lot
of wild storylines that are taking place.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
There is you know, I was going to do a
segment called Somebody's got to say it, Okay, so it might.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
As well be me.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Somebody's got to say it. This might as well be me.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
You and yells.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Full of baloney when you put Jane Daniels into the
Hall of Fame. All right, get him out. He's just
okay to good quarterback. He's not this great prodigy you
all thought he was going to be. Shame on you.
Somebody's got to say it. It might as well be me.
He's not the best thing, the best thing that that's
coming around since Tom Brady's will stop it, right, apologize, Well.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
I mean I was someone that was on Caleb Williams
more than him. But I mean, yeah, I'm sorry that
I that he had a bad game today. I mean
just a bad gay right, Yeah, yeah, he's struggling. Got
he got injured the Commanders. There's usually a sophomore slump.
But are you telling me that if you had him
as your quarterback, you'd go ahead and just be like,
(15:45):
all right, it's Marcus Mario to time. Get out of here,
Jane Daniels.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
No, I just gave him an award.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
You know what award? I just gave him. How many
different awards do you have?
Speaker 3 (15:54):
I have, well, a new award. I've given him the CJ.
Stroud Awards.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
So there you go.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Given to the best quarterback who looked really good his
first year and has done nothing since.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
I'm gonna go ahead and give him that award. Well,
I mean, that could be the two award too, if
you want me. There's a lot of people that could
be candidates for that award right now. But if there,
I mean, are you watching the NFL right now? You
want to give up those guys? I mean, I don't
think you're paying attention. You're like Jay Daniel sucks. Everyone apologizes,
but yet look, Mac Jones is out here winning games
(16:25):
for the San Francisco forty nine ers. Daniel Jones is
winning games for the Indianapolist Colts. Don't make me turn
the listeners against you. Don't blame the messenger.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
Somebody had to say it, and the listeners are like,
that's right on, and you are one hundred percent right.
Jane Daniels was overrated, so plank, just stay in your lane,
all right.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
So I was the one that was saying Caleb Williams
was still incredible. I don't know where you get to.
I know what it is, You're so so disinterested now
in the NFL because your Dolphins. You got to create
these takes that you know that put them on everyone else.
You did. Also, CJ Stroud sucked but you had to
(17:06):
watch him go win the Rookie of the Year basically
while I was telling you he still sucked, right, And
you know.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
It's also because I have Jade Daniels in my fantasy
league and he's killing me awesome.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Well, then that's your fault. You drafted him. Hey. By
the way, there's some really cool stuff going on a
Major League Baseball if you've seen that new red Ostrich
logo and professional Baseball postseason helmets that Strauss family owned
since nineteen forty eight and trusted by pros worldwide. Pants
built like tools, durable, comfortable, and engineered to perform from
great to glory. Gearup now Strauss dot Com. That's s
(17:39):
t R a Uss dot Com and Arnie. In the
midst of all this sadness that you're dealing with from
your dolphin stinking, we do have the Game seven tomorrow. Yes,
the Blue Jays took care of business tonight six to two.
The winner gets the Dodgers, who have dominated so far
in the post season. But Game seven tomorrow, and I
(18:00):
guess we're undecided right now about who the Blue Jays
are going to go with.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Right I didn't see who the starting matchup is going
to be for tomorrow's.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Well, right now, George Kirby is going to be the
guy going for the Mariners. We at least know that,
But I don't think the Blue Jays have committed to
anyone yet.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Be interesting. I always love game sevens. Today Seattle have
their chance that the bases loaded with one out twice
back to back innings.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
Got no runs out of it.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Game over when you leave like when you leave six
runners on base with with only two outs.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Tough one. But Game seven tomorrow between the Blue Jays
and the Mariners. Blue Jays force it tonight with the
win over Seattle when we come back. All right, we're
all in on the NFL day that was including it
is now a final in Sunday night football. Props to
the San Francisco forty nine ers. They beat the Atlanta
Falcons twenty to ten. Nine Ers now five and two
(18:52):
on the season. Falcons fall back to five hundred. They're
three and three. It's arn't in plank right here on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

listen live. Hi, this is Jay.
Speaker 7 (19:12):
I'm the producer of the Paula and Tony Fusco Show.
Usually in these promos they asked you to listen to
the show. I'm here to ask you please don't listen
to the show. The hosts are two absolute morons who
have the dumbest takes on sports imaginable. Don't listen to
the show so it can get camper.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
Get him fool. Listen to the Tony Fosco Show on
the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcast. He's
still moving. Wait a minute, hold on, Mary mac Bradley
Cooper had a facelift.
Speaker 5 (19:44):
Yeah, really, dude, he looks like Cillian Murphy.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Huh.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
He looks so ugly.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
This is so much better than having to hear about
the dolphins. All right, hold on here, Oh my.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
God, look up the picture, the most recent picture.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
I'm looking right now too.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
You're on he's still good looking, though.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
No he's not like okay, he's not like as ugly,
but like he was on record.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Look right, And I was bringing up one of my
sister's friends had a facelift, because I'm like, who's this.
She goes, oh, that's so and so you know her.
I'm like, no, I don't know that person. She goes, no,
she had a facelift, And I don't think I've ever
heard anyone in my life it's had a facelift like
in real life. It's every time I think of a facelift,
I think of that movie with Nicholas Cage like face
(20:28):
off for they swelled. Yeah, yeah, Sylvester Josh Vault to
thank you. Yeah, huh, well you just blew my mind.
How about that Bradley Cooper, Yeah, it looks like a
different dude.
Speaker 5 (20:38):
He looks like if you took Celia Murphy and Bradley
Hooper mix them together.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Football is a final, Ladies and gentlemen. The San Francisco
forty nine ers, behind a two hundred plus yard game
from Christian McCaffrey and yards from scrimmage power pass the
Atlanta Falcons twenty to ten, and now we wait because
apparently Brock Purty is going to be back this week.
I don't really know if they have too much of
(21:04):
a quarterback controversy. Realist and Mac Jones has been nice story,
but I mean it's it's it's still a team that
I think is much more efficient whenever brock Purty is
out there, right.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
I agree, But that doesn't mean that mac Jones hasn't
done a phenomenal job.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
Well, he's great. I take him.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
And what did I say before the start of the year.
I mean it's gonna be a it's almost a two
quarterback team nowadays, not two quarterback, more like one and
a half, because I said the backup quarterbacks should have
to start one to two games a year because with
the what eighteen game possibly looming, it's just going to
be too much on one quarterback to be able to
go with the whole eighteen games.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
Do you feel the need to constantly bring up the
I told you the I told you because you're so
wrong so often? Is that kind of no? But because
you were so anti I don't think ye, Tim, Why
would you just pay one as much as you do.
You made it seem like, yeah, we're going to rast
Patrick mahomes here in week five. No, that's your point
was that you thought that quarterbacks would take a week
(22:03):
off outside of the last.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Time I thought Jane Daniels just took the second week
off when he was hurt.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Said no, they didn't, they would go There was not
a boy, we're like, oh, yeah, he can play, We're
just not gonna play him. No one has ever said
that with their star quarterback, unless it's week sixteen or seventeen,
whatever final week of the season.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
It is. So you're gonna die on that hill, right,
that's the yes, I'm gonna.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Dial that hill that if your star quarterback can go
and isn't gonna risk further injury, you're gonna throw him
out there because you're paying him fifty freaking million dollars.
This isn't a college coach is gonna buy out, aren't he?
This is a guy that's gotta go out there and perform.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
I wish I was a college coach.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
This is this isn't a shortstop for the Dodgers. Who's
gonna get a day off because they've got a three
games sinceitude you only get seventeen games, and even if
they go to an eighteen game schedule. I mean, yeah, no,
you're not gonna have two quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
I'm gonna be curious to see how many teams are
gonna have the one quarterback start all seventeen.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
No, what's gonna happen because they can't stay healthy anymore.
I mean, look, at what even happened in Carolina today?
I I heard you from say this, and I was
cracking up. I had Red Zone on today. I watched
and had no idea what was going on with the
Panthers and the Jets that at one point they flipped
over to it and it was Andy Dalton versus Tyrod Taylor,
and I'm like, what, what the world is going on here?
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Is this?
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Like?
Speaker 2 (23:25):
Is this an old Bengals Bills game that they're rehairing
or something. I mean, I had no idea what was
going on in that game. So, yeah, I don't you're
not I don't think you're going to see healthy scratches
with quarterbacks. But I will say this much, I don't
know that I've seen a quarterback look as bad as
bo Nicks did for three quarters. Oh came back and
did what he did, Dude, what he did? Did what
he did in the fourth quarter. Unreal.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
One thousand, six hundred and two straight games teams won
when they're leading by eighteen points in the fourth quarter,
and that finally got broken.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
I don't know how you scored again, one six hundred
and two games. That's pretty amazing. That's pretty amazing. I
counted on myself. Well, I know you didn't. It's okay, Arnie.
You don't have to be the guy that knows everything.
You didn't count them yourself.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
I know I'm just joking, but it was uh. I
didn't even know you could score thirty three points in
a quarter. I didn't know that was possible. I thought,
if you if I was on the other team and
I just took a knee every possession, I could run
enough time where you can't score thirty three points. The
interception when they were up by ten with a little
bit on their five minutes left, I think there was
(24:37):
like four and a half, a little bit more than
four and a half minutes left of the game, that
was a killer. They gave up the touchdown. After that,
they couldn't get a first down, They gave the ball
back to the forty nine ers, and then it was
death after that. That that just destroyed that. They could
have killed the clock if they didn't go ahead and
throw that interception there.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
That was harrib How you missed that extra point though, Well,
how do you drive like they di and and do
what the Giants did to blow that game? Then come
back and put yourself in position to win it, only
to blow it on a missed pat all right, an
unsuccess unsuccessful pot, I mean, just come on. Bo Nix
(25:16):
is also the first player at NFL history to record
two or more passing beat touchdowns and two or more
rushing touchdowns in one quarter. Like, that's unbelievable. Let's get
the details of that game and every other big game today,
because he is the man. He was front and center
today for that Chargers interesting game they had. Wow, I
was a shocker. Steve the Sagres in a house and
(25:37):
look what the sagas wearing.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
He's wearing that puke yellow jersey right now.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Did you see the uniforms they were wearing.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
I actually liked it, to be honest with you.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Well except for the fact that you can't see actual
numbers on the uniform.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Oh my gosh, poor, poor, poor play by play guys
in that one.
Speaker 8 (25:53):
Yeah, well, including one and spotters. It was it was
said often, but yeah. The Indianapolis Colts right now are
the number one team in the National Football League. They
have a six to one record. Bucks play tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
And Pike thought they were the worst.
Speaker 8 (26:09):
You will get to Uh, we'll get to the NFL.
In a moment you mentioned the bo Nicks. This has
never happened in a fourth quarter. Two touchdown passes to
rushing touchdowns by one guy in a fourth In fact,
the thirty three fourth quarter points is almost the NFL record.
It's thirty four in a fourth quarter Detroit in two
thousand and seven. And have we ever seen a Denver
(26:31):
quarterback this bad? For three quarters? And then great with
yes we have Tim Tebow?
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Really Steelers in the playoffs, well every.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
Other Tim Tebow game and its Denver career. I figure
like that.
Speaker 8 (26:45):
The American League Championship Series is going to the full
seven games and it's gonna be Game seven in Toronto
Monday nights against Seattle. It'll be on Fox TV and
FS one. Toronto beat the Mariners in Game six, six
to two tonight the MS with three. They struck out
thirteen times in the last forty years. And this is
why it's the dividing line, because it was nineteen eighty
(27:06):
five when we got to best of seven LCS, not
just best of seven World Series. So we've had the
two three to two format in each round ever since.
In these last forty years, if a home team wins
Game six to force a Game seven at home. The
home team wins the game seven also fourteen out of
eighteen times. That's last eighty percent of the time. And
(27:29):
the pitching matchup we are expecting for Game seven in
Toronto tomorrow night are the two pitchers who threw against
each other last Wednesday in this series, which would be
George Kirby for Seattle and Shane Bieber, a former Cy
Young winner with Cleveland. Southern California native has a chance
to pitch the Blue Jays into the World Series against
(27:50):
the Dodgers, and the Blue Jays would be hosting games
one and two because Toronto won ninety four games the
Dodgers won ninety three. The Dodgers had a chance to
sweep the weekend series hosting Toronto a couple of months ago,
and of course the bullpen blew the game in the
ninth inning, and because of that, they didn't finish with
(28:14):
the top mark compared to the Blue Jays head.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
You know, I should only come down to that.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
What you're not higher ratings Game seven or Tampa and
the Lions.
Speaker 9 (28:26):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
You know this is a trick question because there's two Monday.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Night games, right but the other one then start till ten.
Speaker 8 (28:31):
That's right, there's a little there's a little fatigue. I'm
hearing with people. There's two Monday night games again, at
least there they're back to back, shall we say so.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Regular Monday night games equal like a World Series game.
Speaker 8 (28:45):
Yeah, for the ratings to be even, you would have
to be including the Canada ratings for the Blue Jays
game tomorrow, the US cable ratings for that tomorrow. But anyway,
blue Jay's force a game seven and it's Monday night
Fox TV and FS one. The World Series starts Friday
night on Fox TV. Chase Briscoe took the NASCAR race
(29:06):
at Talladega. Kevin Durant signed an extension with the Houston
Rockets one year plus an option the San Francisco forty
nine Ers one Tonight's game at home against the Atlanta
Falcons twenty to ten. Christian McCaffrey had just over two
hundred yards from scrimmage in this one, his most in
any game as a forty nine er, and in fact,
most in his pro career since twenty nineteen with the Panthers.
(29:29):
McCaffrey with twenty four carries one hundred and twenty nine
yards rushing and two touchdowns. Notable that he had an
actual fifteen yard gain in all of that tall team
hadn't had any gain that long. I believe the entire
season any rusher it had been well. Mark will has
talked about it Sunday after Sunday, and then they actually
got something on the ground tonight at a w and
(29:50):
San Francisco's five and two Denver wins on a field
goal final play to beat the Giants thirty three thirty two. Yes,
the Broncos scored all thirty three points in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Amazing.
Speaker 8 (30:00):
Indianapolis beat the Chargers in LA thirty eight to twenty four.
The Colts are six and one. They averaged thirty three
points a game, best in the league and guys. Last week,
the Colts won a close game against Arizona because every
time they were in the red zone they turned it
into a touchdown. In fact, it got up to a
streak of thirteen straight drives that if the drive got
(30:23):
inside the twenty, they cashed it in for a touchdown.
The red zone opportunities for this team are just astounding.
It's helping them well, let's be honest, they should be
seven to zero this year. It's helping them be the
best team in the NFL early season. And we knew
going in in this matchup. The Chargers are literally dead
last in red zone tds settling for field goal after
(30:45):
field goal all season long. They only cash in on
thirty five percent of the drives that reach the red zone.
Colts at sixty five percent, and that was before today
when they went four for five.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
There's only one.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
Person on this planet that thought Daniel jon.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
Was a good quarterback, missus. Jones now are starting to
say him yeah.
Speaker 8 (31:05):
And by the way, they have Jonathan Taylor three more
touchdown runs third time this season already, He's had three
TV runs in a game Green Bay on a touchdown
with under two minutes left, one at Arizona twenty seven
to twenty three, Dallas forty four to twenty two over Washington.
Commander's quarterback Jaden Daniels left with a hamstring injury MRI
on Monday.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Back to you, yeah, and not the only quarterback situation
that we'll be following. The Jets benched justin Fields this weekend.
We'll see if they decide to go with Tyrod Taylor
next week. Is there is it more of a coach
issue or a quarterback issue right now with your Dolphins,
because two was blaming well himself. McDaniels seems mad at
everybody right now, so he's probably out. So maybe there's
(31:48):
a quarterback situation there. I mean, I guess that's really
the two most high profile ones that we're looking at
right now, beyond the injury situations Bryke's young, the injury
situation in Carolina right now. Right now, they're pretty good.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
Right right There's gonna be a lot of not only
of course college openings, but a lot of NFL openings there.
There's gonna be this is this is right up your alley, Chris.
They're gonna be loving and people getting fired.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
I don't want I here to get fired.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
Well not, you know what I'm saying. But there's I mean,
there's a lot of I can't wait to see where
James Franklin is going to end up.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
I have no idea, to be honest with that.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
I don't even as part of me was to say
he's gonna end up in the NFL, though I think
that's a long shot. I I think everything's in play
right now for him. It's just crazy, but.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
I again on the quarterback front, I don't know if
we're gonna see any more changes. The Raiders went to
Gina or went to can you piket late because the
game was out of hand, So I I mean, I
don't I don't know if we we got the mac
Jones brock pretty conversation. And I don't think it will
carry on too much because well, Mac lit the world
on fire for one start, and every single pro on
Fox Sports Radio and on the talking heads like his
(32:53):
Mac Jones. This started for the Niners, and then he
played the next game. You're like, no, he is not
Uh it is still brock Perty's please get back brock Purty.
But for a mac Jones might have shown something for
another team to say bring him in as a starter.
I mean, listen, Arnie, we didn't learn our lesson on
Justin Fields, right. We watched him stinking up for the Bears,
(33:14):
where the Bears went with Tyler pagent over him for
a long time. And now and now Lowenhold he signs
with the Jets this offseason, and I guess we all
have memories of him at Ohio State against Clemson and
just for some guys, it's not gonna work. Might be
this might be the situation. I mean, is there a
Sam Darnold? Is there a Baker Mayfield out there right now?
Could that be Mac Jones? But yeah, I'm with you
(33:34):
on the coaches and we'll see on the quarterback situations,
because you're running out of time to turn things around
for a lot of these teams. You feel like you're
out of time. If you're the Jets, if you're the Dolphins,
if you're the Raiders. Can't plays the coaching.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
You can't get rid of the quarterbacks of these contracts, though.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
But I feel like you've always been someone that has said,
what good does it do to fire a coach in
the season, And yet now here you want your coach gone.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
You know what, It doesn't make it evidence if he's
gone hour at the end of the season. Ok, I
just want to get a head start on getting his replacement.
But you could start talking about that day. Somebody's reporting
that Stephen ross Will just really upset going down into
the locker room after the game.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
So he was pretty upset about what woldn't you feel
terrible if he wasn't. He's like, hey, great job, guys,
great job. I mean I'd be angry if that's what
I had heard. All Right, we got a break. When
we come back, we'll start hitting some of your tweets

zone you're in this afternoon, I guess out in Hawaii,
let's say some of these tweets shall yeah, we got
a lot tonight, Brad Wrights, don't worry. I'm a Panthers fan.
(35:31):
I don't know what I'm watching almost every Sunday.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
That was the worst game ever. I mean, they want
bad football tonight today, especially the morning games. I mean
with that game and the Kansas City Raider game, in
the Daupphin Cleveland game, and I believe it wasn't one
of the better Sundays we were watching in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
And honestly, I don't really know what. I don't really
know what we were expecting because I'm kind of the
same way, like, ah, that's stunk today. But in my mind,
like what looked at the matchups we had we had
that you mentioned Raiders, Chiefs, Jets, Dolphins. You know even
did I say Jets Dolphins? I'm sorry, Browns Dolphins, Yeah, Patriots, Titans.
(36:12):
You had the one throw by cam Ward, Like, hey,
the Patriots just get the snot at it exactly. Eric
asks a very good question. He writes, I don't understand
the whole get ahead start on the next coach argument.
As a team, you aren't getting permission to talk to
any coordinators during the season, are you. No, you're not,
but back roads, you know, I I hear.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
Exactly what you can theresentative.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
I that, well, I mean they're they're technically is you're
you're not supposed to, but there can be those back
alley deals that can be made, right. The NFL has
the NFL does have strict rules on when you can
and can't interview guys. But I mean, if I happen
to have a phone call with your agent or somebody
(36:59):
that's not interviewing you suppose a little bit.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Suppose I have a client that's interested in your team,
he's not playing in the playoffs, and we meet about that,
and then all of a sudden, the subject switches to
something else.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
You know what I mean? No, I don't. What do
you mean? Like, you have a client that's not in
the playoffs as that coach or as a player.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
As a player or as a coach, and you're talking
to them about him, and then you're like, well, you know,
I got another coach that's still in the playoffs. I
know we can't officially talk, but he'd be interested in
that head coaching job.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
I'll be curious to know. And and the coaching fraternity
usually is pretty pretty tight, So I don't think you'll
have people snaking in to be like, hey, Miami, I
want that gig. And in all honesty, you know Miami's
I'm not just saying this because you're a Dolphins fan.
I think it's going to be a fascinating opening because
it's going to be a place where you can be
coaching GM. I mean, they're not going to keep Chris
(37:53):
Gray around, right, right, right, So if McDaniel's out, the
GM's out. So those coaches that want that kind of power,
and I know Belichick's no longer the conversation in that front.
I mean, I would think not but the John Grudens
of the world, maybe the Nick Sabans, or at the
very least Arnie, the guys who want their own general manager, right,
(38:14):
they want a guy that they're comfortable with that could
make Miami a very fascinating job.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
If they hired Nick saban right now, I'd break down
and cry right here on the air. I would just
break down, and again, I'd be so happy you.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Did have him before. So I mean there is that.
I'd be so happy DJ infamous.
Speaker 10 (38:32):
Right.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
Since Arnie wants McDaniel fired, would he take on Belichick
as head coach if the buyout is on the table.
From my tar heels, now, North Carolina fans are trying
to get rid of Belichick, don't I take him back
in the NFL. I'd take it back a heart beat. Yeah,
of course I would.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
I would take him in a heartbeat. I mean, how
many more years is he going to coach anyway? So
it's not like it's for the you know, for the
next decade or something like that. I would definitely take
him with the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Brenda and the Raiders from this point on for the
rest of the season need to play the rookies and
other young players. The Vets just aren't cutting it. They're
not making the playoffs, even with the way that they've
been mismanaged by Davis. Change starts at the top. Oh,
I'm sorry, he said. They're not making the playoffs ever
(39:20):
with the way that they've been mismanaged by Davis. All Right, So, Brendon,
I have some really bad news for you today. They
play the young guys today. That was the young guys
that was playing. Jacoby Myers was out, Brock Bauers was out.
The dudes that were playing at a receiver were the
young guys. Now, if you want to tell me that
Devin White needs to sit, Landon Roberts needs to sit,
(39:41):
and you want to play some of the young linebackers,
I'd be all about it. I just don't know who
the hell those young backers are that they have on
their roster right now.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
Did you hear the rumor on who your next coach
is going to be Pete Carroll?
Speaker 11 (39:56):
No?
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Who I mean? I started it? So, my gosh, man,
why do you do this? Tom Brady Great, here's a
co you don't think. You don't think he'd be a
g You did this last week and I told you
I don't think he'd be a great coach. I don't
think he wants to bed. I think he'd be awesome.
I'm sure you said the same thing about Magic Johnson
and Isaiah Thomas and Larry Bird say that. No, I
(40:18):
did not. I did not. I know what makes you
think Tom Brady would be a great head coach?
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Oh, he's just disciplined. People would take, you know, coaching
from him. I think he knows what he's doing. I
think you could make the right decisions. I think he'd
be phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
JV. Right, So, Dolphins are playing at such a low
level of rivals the one in fifteen twenty oh seven season. McDonald,
much like Cam Cameron, has a lot he called a
McDonald McDonald, much like Cam Cameron has lost. The locker
room in Tua is as bad as insert two thousand
and seven quarterback ouch hour one in the books. Todd Furman,
next hour on Fox the Great Todd Furman coming up
(40:58):
later this hour will talk with him that this segment
with Steve de Seger and a look back on the
entire day that was in the National Football League right
here on Fox Sports. Ready wanted to touch on a
quick college note. Yeah, today, Billy Napier was fired by
the Florida Gators. He was probably kept a week too long.
(41:21):
I mean, he won a game they beat forty eight mil?
Is that what it is? Forty eight mil? I thought
it was nineteen. Oh wow, I was way off on that. Then,
all what's he gonna do? I don't know? Yeah, how's
he going to handle that? It's basically from what Gators
Wire reported that a sub five hundred record. He leaves
(41:42):
as the only coach to finish with a sub five
hundred record since the nineteen forties, So he was owed
twenty mil for the entire season. So he's going to
get a guaranteed eighty five percent of his remaining contracts
whatever he had to that point, with fifth fifty percent
of the buyout do within the first thirty days of
(42:03):
the deal. So basically that breaks into a cash payment
of ten point six million dollars on November nineteenth, followed
up by annual payments of two point sixty five million
until July fifteenth of twenty twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
Geez, who's the leader in the clubhouse? I think I
got a perspective on this one.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Okay, hit me with it.
Speaker 3 (42:24):
You want to take a guess who I'm gonna say
or it's.
Speaker 2 (42:26):
Probably going to be someone that's not even on their list,
but go ahead. I'll be really impressed if it is Jetfish.
Why would they want Jetfish?
Speaker 3 (42:36):
There's I don't know what. He has a connection to them,
I believe, and he that's where he wanted to go
when he actually left Arizona.
Speaker 2 (42:44):
That was one of the places that he was looking at.
Was the this to me, well, he went to Florida
is part of it, but I don't think he's ever
coached there. He went to Florida his Yeah, yeah, let
me him pull us up here. Yeah, he's never coached there,
but he went there graduated in ninety eight. But this
is Lane or bust. I mean, that's really what it is.
(43:05):
If they don't get Lane Kiffin's their number one, number
one talk.
Speaker 3 (43:08):
Yeah, but didn't he not the athletic that like the
president just say I have to tie him up. Now,
we're gonna have to sit down and tie him up
all the right things. Yeah, he said he wanted to
give a contract like the guy in Indiana got or
something to that effect.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
That Signetti's deal. By the way, when that was reported,
I gotta be honest with you, when they kept giving
the number and it was like nine years, eleven million,
and I'm like, that's not a competitive contract. I mean,
he could get that tomorrow from where. But then they're
like annually. I'm like, oh, okay, well, Indiana's not messing around.
That's a very lucrative contract in the world of college football.
(43:44):
And I if oh, by the way, I've been corrected.
Jetfish was a GA at Florida in ninety nine, so
he was there as a grad assistant. So yes, he
has coach there. But I I kind of feel no,
Jetfish is doing a great job at Washington, did a
great job at Arizona at things at Arizona because that
program sucks. So I mean, he's done things there that
(44:05):
haven't happened in Why beat Oklahoma? Is that a big
enough name?
Speaker 3 (44:09):
Those a big enough That's what I'm thinking.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
It might be their best hire. But Florida wants advisor
wearing s talking just Steve. They want a Steve Spurry
or clone, right, And that's what they think Lane Kiffin is.
And I think that they're gonna The rumor was Ryan
McGee reported this while back that espn' Ryan McGee that
(44:33):
there were boosters in the president at the time that
said they got a deal done that Lane wants to
come there and Lane would be the next Florida coach. Wow.
And according to reports, they're like, no, no, no, We're
gonna go with Napier, kind of like the old rumor
or not. I will go with Derek Carr, Tom Brady,
you stay over there, right, I mean, I don't know
if that's true or not. This guy, Yeah, you're gonna
(44:54):
go with that effing guys.
Speaker 3 (44:54):
Well, I'm sure, I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (44:55):
Wayde said better things than that. But it's it's interesting
because listen, Oklaum's playing ole Miss, So I'm not I'm
gonna choose my words here carefully this this moment, because
I think Ole Miss is really good and they've got
a even though Oklaumb's favored, they got a great chance
to come in here and beat the Sooners on Saturday.
But I still feel like he could probably get better
talent in Florida. Oh absolutely. I was just kind of
(45:17):
wonder about that though, because you got big money guys
at all, miss Man, and you've been able to pay
and go get whomever you want. But Lane Kiffin does
kind of throw that out quite a bit. Yeah, but
they lose. He talks about how they're they're kind of
it's like, hey man, they went out and they bought
them their whole second era of guys they bought, and
I'm like, you bought your old team too. But I
(45:37):
wonder if Florida might be a little bit more lucrative
for him. But that's their number one guy on he
number one number one.
Speaker 3 (45:44):
If if Bob Lane, I'd probably go Obviously he's gonna
get a real lucrative contract. I'm not sure who's the
second one, though, I'm not sure who they go after.
Speaker 2 (45:55):
If Wayne Kiffin is not a possibility, though, well, Lane
Kiffin's number one.
Speaker 11 (45:59):
I do.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
I think it's a good I think it makes sense
with Jetfish right, knowing that he went there and that
he's had some success, a lot of success in his
career recently. I don't know if it's sexy enough for
everybody there's gonna be. By the way, this is the
tenth firing already in season, wow, already this year. I
(46:21):
don't again. I'm I always feel like we say things
I don't know if we've ever seen something like this,
and then all of a sudden there'll be a guy
that's like, there were twelve fired by this point last year.
So I mean, I listen, I forgot what I have
for dinner on Friday night. But if you're looking at
the Florida list right now, lay number one, do you
(46:41):
call a retired coach? I'm just do you call absolutely?
Speaker 3 (46:45):
Well? I call everybody, but yeah, okay, I call a
retired coach. I especially because if it's only going to
be a stop gap for like four or five years,
I definitely do something like that.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
Okay, So maybe you call a Nick Sabman just to
gauge his interest. I'm not saying he'd be a candidate. Maybe,
you know, not to eat up this whole segment with
college Football Talk because we got a game seven coming
up in the ALCS and we got a lot of
football games to get to. But for the longest time,
our biggest fear here in Oklahoma anytime Florida would come
(47:16):
open is that Bob Stoops would go there. Now retired,
He's been out of the game for what eight seasons now,
so it seems like no man I've ever seen has
enjoyed a retirement more than coach Stoops. And he comes
on my local show with me tomorrow, so I'll be
sure to ask about him. But I just wonder how
deep that would go to me if they end up
with a guy like a James Franklin. I mean, that's
(47:36):
one hell of a I think that's a good higher
show with it. But that's a consolation prize that everyone's told,
you know on that the kid at Florida, John Sumrall's
going to be a guy that's going to be a
sorry Tulane is going to be a big candidate In
fact Lane Kiffin's been kind of hyping him up for
SEC jobs right now, and they think that some are
all the Tulane head coaches. A guy that could be
(47:56):
a candidate there too, But I know that's about that's
not a power five guy, so you couldn't care less
about it.
Speaker 3 (48:03):
Oh well, I don't think jam Treklin ends up in
any of the openings right now. I think there's another
place for him, or he'll take the year off, But
I don't think he's gonna end.
Speaker 2 (48:12):
Up at UCLA or any of those type of schools.
Can I just as a as a thought, if you
had the kind of money that he has right now
with your buyout, right, would you ever want to do anything? No,
I wouldn't.
Speaker 3 (48:27):
But if I have coaching in my blood and I
do want to coach, and I'm going to come back
next year and take a job, I don't know if
I want to take one year off. Though, taking one
year off and doing media work is probably the best
thing for him. My goodness, you would have thought that
he was just so wrong when he was doing you
know the picks on TV this Saturday. It was amazing.
(48:48):
People were losing their mind. Look, I like the guy
and I said this a couple of weeks ago. I said,
sometimes it's just time to move on, not only for
the university, but for him also. And I think it's
gonna work out real well for him. Look, he got
what fifty mil forty eight mil? I things can't go
wrong when you get forty eight milk, Chris, that's for sure.
What twenty one was the total number for Billy Napier
(49:11):
I was awful. Twenty one is the total number for him.
Gundhy's was like, what fifteen mil?
Speaker 2 (49:16):
From my guy? I mean, these whoever these agents are
that negotiates these unbelievable Yeah, unreal. All right, so we'll
keep tabs on it. But keeping the ear open for
lank What did you think Franklin was gonna end up?
Or did you think he was gonna finish? I always
thought he might be a great candidate at UCLA or
Oklahoma State, you know, maybe jump back in the game
(49:37):
at at at a school like oak State. You know,
he was at Vanderbilt and had a lot of success
at Vanderbilt. I might be an opening in Arizona. Dude,
I'm telling you right now, I think if I'm UCLA,
with the way things are going right now. I don't
make a move at all, kind of like it. I mean,
they've won three straight since. And by the way, what
was do Sean Foster doing? Were they just not practicing?
Speaker 3 (49:59):
Like?
Speaker 2 (49:59):
How how could they go from being that bad to
this good? It's one of the most amazing turnarounds I've
ever seen.
Speaker 3 (50:05):
Three weeks ago when they went on this winning streak
and I wasn't sure what was going on, and the
coach got fired, I wasn't sure who was replacing who.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
I still think new Heidel's kids the coach. I'm just saying,
you know what's so funny. I saw that.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
I go, wow, Rick new Heidel still looks really young guy?
Speaker 2 (50:20):
Just how does he do it? That guy hasn't aged
at all? For crying hot loud? I'm like, wow, what
I have been doing? I work with Rick a lot.
Rick's a great dude, and there has never been a
more spitting image father son than those two guys. I mean,
it's just he's still young. I got guy must be
doing something right in his life. The dover was his son.
(50:43):
Nature boys trying to implode the show here a little bit.
He's trying to throw our final hour bit in in
hour two. But I do want to bring this up
because you mentioned it with the Sega earlier and maybe
Steve has some perspective on it. Eddie writes, what we
learned this week is it's a very bad idea to
wear puke yellow when you're the Chargers. Were they like
(51:03):
the worst alternate? Or did you like him? I liked it.
Speaker 3 (51:06):
I I mean, okay, let me make the joke. Do
not adjust your dial.
Speaker 2 (51:09):
But no, I did like it. I got used to it.
I thought it was a good one.
Speaker 3 (51:12):
I would definitely go out and buy it, you know,
if I was at a store and I'm like, yeah,
I'm a Charger fan. I like it.
Speaker 2 (51:18):
I thought it was a good one. Good luck, okay,
all right? Is to take around? Okay, where did this
come from?
Speaker 8 (51:23):
Was this the I think seventh different uniform combination they have.
You can't top the AFL powder blues, to know, like
the most popular, absolutely, and so they go with the gold.
But to me it just smacks if you remember when
they used to have the thirty ninth the Thursday night
games and say, hey the Rams are playing, let's have
(51:44):
them wear all yellow and then the other team they'll
wear the all red and we have the you know,
it looked color mustard against ketchup on the field.
Speaker 2 (51:53):
So it was it was on the way to that.
Speaker 8 (51:55):
It was the only day this whole season they are
scheduled to wear the all. By the way, They're playing
Thursday night at home, by the way, against the Vikings.
They're they'll be wearing navy blue on Thursday night in La.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
You know, I think next weekend is a great weekend
for me. I think the Raiders are on there by
next week. I am going to have a great Sunday
next week and not be angry. We were at a
restaurant watching the first quarter of the game today between
the Raiders and the Chiefs, right, and they literally almost
kicked me out of that place. I don't know. I
(52:29):
don't know that I've ever in a game that I
had that I knew the Raiders were going to lose. Right,
There was no disillusionment in my mind. I just didn't
really expect it to be thirty one zip or twenty
what it was like twenty eight to zip at halftime.
Speaker 3 (52:40):
At the at the end of the game, you didn't
even use your three timeouts and Kansas City went into
the Neil position with over two minutes and thirty seconds.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Well, why gay would you want to extend that. It's
like you're on the plane to go home.
Speaker 8 (52:56):
Just for the record, the schedule next Sunday, there aren't
a lot of great matchups unless you consider Dallas at
Denver a great matchup. But as far as the day
games next Sunday, I mean, it's Jets Bengals, it's Falcons Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (53:09):
You know, somebody said that this is not a good
year in the NFL, and you tore them apart playing
for saying that.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
So, yeah, every year is a good year for the NFL.
What dope says that? I said that right exactly, just
saying a great year. I'm like, okay, well go watch NASCAR, Tallade.
It doesn't mean I don't want to. It doesn't mean
I don't want to watch. Okay, doesn't mean I don't
want to watch. Like Brian Kelly, you're just a spoiled fan.
You deserve you expect too much from everything. If the
(53:39):
Dolphins right now we're sitting at seven and oh, you
would have no problem with any of the games that
are going on right now. Perhaps perhaps or yeah, the
Raiders were seven and oh I'd be like, this is
the most amazing season out of the best year ever. Man,
I love it.
Speaker 8 (53:58):
I heard some of the Florida Gators conversay, Yeah, Ed,
did you get to the part where it wasn't just
a losing record for Napier, who they just fired after
four seasons at Florida. The stat that just jumped off
the page to me when he was playing a ranked
opponent away from home.
Speaker 4 (54:14):
He went, oh and fourteen? Yeah, how is that possible?
Speaker 8 (54:19):
And so now when they hire a new guy, they're
going to be paying three head coaches at once, which
also happened a few years ago with the Gators. Oh
my gosh, Dad dry Dan Mullen started six and oh
with UNLV still getting paid by the Gators this year.
They just they haven't been able to find anyone consistently
since Spurrier.
Speaker 2 (54:37):
It's just urban Meyer had a good run, but it.
Speaker 8 (54:40):
Was still like a guy who broke up with the
girlfriend and spends years looking for someone who's just like
the girlfriend.
Speaker 4 (54:44):
She's not out there, move on.
Speaker 2 (54:48):
I still think I can find my Alison Webb. I
don't know what you're talking about now, Steve Seger. I
know that she's out there somewhere. Uh, you know, I
I better pull Urban. Meyer's run was six years and
did have two national championships, but he wasn't I think
it's fair to say, Gator fan, you can correct me
if I'm wrong. I don't think he was ever as
beloved as Steve Spurrier.
Speaker 4 (55:10):
Oh how could he be?
Speaker 2 (55:11):
And so since then you've had you had Urban who
was sandwiched between ron Zuk and Will MutS Champ.
Speaker 4 (55:16):
He wasn't a Heisman Gators quarterback.
Speaker 2 (55:19):
That's right, that's right. Then you had the Jim mcawain era,
which ended whenever he which by the way, Jim mccawayane
went ten and four, nine and four, had a four
and seventh season, and he was fired. That was the
I'm getting death threats and they could never materialize or
say that it actually happened. Dan Mullen went ten and three,
eleven and two, had an eight and four season, and
they got fired the next year. Napier just was never
(55:41):
able to get anything going. So I think it's a
fascinating opening, man, and we're not done. We're not done.
There's gonna be. I don't know if we'll have more
in season. Florida States buy out for Mike Norvela's ridiculous.
But guys, the bottom falling out like he did at
Florida State this year. They beat Alabama in the week
of the season. Alabama looks like the best team in
(56:02):
college football right now, maybe outside of Ohio State in Indiana,
but they got beat by Stanford last night. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (56:09):
When we get to the Florida Gators though, and we
mentioned that he had a losing record in the four
years that includes like the opening win against Long Island,
and you know they're state scheduled Campbell for next year
and Charleston Southern the year after that and Firman the
year after that. Keep in mind, and maybe this will
sound like bashing SEC.
Speaker 2 (56:29):
I'm not.
Speaker 8 (56:30):
It's just there are constant games like that on the
schedule that have no regional tie none.
Speaker 2 (56:37):
And so you know, if.
Speaker 8 (56:38):
Stanford's gonna play San Jose State every year, I'm fine
with that. If Ohio State plays Ohio you every year, great,
you get one of those, you get it. It's a
pass from me, exactly. But if you're opening against Long
Island and jumping up and down because you won fifty
five nothing, well, the real Florida Gators team is two
and four.
Speaker 2 (56:56):
Yep, yeah, that doesn't really matter.
Speaker 3 (56:58):
Hey.
Speaker 2 (56:58):
During the baseball postseason, Strauss has made history. Is the
first brand ever on the Helmets family owns since nineteen
forty eight. Strauss makes workwear built to perform, smart pocket designs,
real comfort and durability you can trust, from grit to
glorygearup today Strauss dot Com. That's str Auss dot com.
War with the Segur coming up in about fifteen minutes
(57:18):
from now with an update. But when we come back,
the Man, the mid the Legend. Todd Furman on Fox
Sports Radio. All right, Todd Furman is in the house
with us as we roll on Arnie and playing here
on Fox Sports Radio. All right, typical leadoff question, Todd,
good day, bad day for the books? What kind of
caught your eye?
Speaker 6 (57:36):
Haven't had the full accounting yet, gentlemen, from the way
the house performed. But I can't imagine things started off
all that well when you look at the first seven
games of the day, all seven favorites winning and covering
in the process. Then you begin to dissect the late
game results. And Indianapolis was a very trendy underdog. Is
they got that out to plus two and a half books.
I'm sure we're thrilled at the Giants were able to
(57:57):
cover whatever most likely preferred and outright victory there and then,
as always, when a Sunday night game stays under the total,
it does help the house. But I can't imagine it's
going to be a banner day for the books. But
I'm sure they're not necessarily going to call cry poverty
even with the struggles out of the gates.
Speaker 10 (58:11):
Starting with that.
Speaker 3 (58:11):
London game, tod I think that Joes did very well
the fifteen to the one hundred dollars player. They were
hitting three team parlways for I.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
Even hit a three team parlay.
Speaker 3 (58:19):
You're right, the Joe's love the bet. The favorites, and
the favorites came in in the morning, and people jumped
on Chicago, they jumped on Kansas City, they jumped on Cleveland.
They jumped on a lot of teams and paid off
at the end.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
There.
Speaker 6 (58:33):
Yeah, definitely able to take advantage the so called better
teams all emerging victorious at least for the most part
throughout the course of the day. The more improvable one
of the more improvable finishes, not just Week seven thus far,
but maybe over the last decade plus is what Denver
was able to do, racing massive devastat against the Giants.
I believe next Gen Stats had their win probability the
(58:53):
lowest since they started that process back in twenty sixteen.
And again another favorite getting across the finish line. And
this is the time year where you start to see
the cream rise to the top. So it's a question
of how the books will adjust and what kind of
price tags they're going to have to attach to teams
like the Titans and Jets to be able to attract
two way actions.
Speaker 2 (59:10):
By the way, I do not believe you had a parlay,
because if you had a parlay, Arnie, you would be
telling everyone about it. You would have tweeted about it,
and we would have opened the show with I didn't.
Speaker 3 (59:18):
Bring it up because Shady Sean had a six team.
Speaker 2 (59:20):
Or Okay, you don't want to are Okay, there you go.
That's fair enough, Hey Todd, real quick, we spent a
lot of time in our first segment talking about the
Florida vacancy. You think they got any chance to Laura
Lane Kiff into Gainesville.
Speaker 6 (59:32):
I mean, I always think it's a distinct possibility we
know Lane has kind of had flirtations with a lot
of the high profile programs, and while it doesn't feel
like Florida is one of those elite coaching jobs the
way things stand right now, historically they've had better facilities,
more money than a program like will Miss, So you
wonder exactly what direction Florida is going to elect to go. Clearly,
they have a few names on the short list that
(59:52):
you're deciding to partways with Billy Napier in the wake
of a win against Misissippi State two weeks before you
play your biggest rival in the form of the Georgia Bold.
So a lot of these coaches starting to hit the
pavement and we'll see where a name like James Franklin
could land.
Speaker 10 (01:00:05):
But I have a feeling, guys that that won't be
the last Domino to go.
Speaker 6 (01:00:08):
Have things that coaches like Mike Norvell, Hugh Freeze, and
maybe even Brian Kelly find themselves looking for new employment
as we get into the silly season.
Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
Where do you go then?
Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
If you're a Jim Franklin, do you wait for other
openings or you take the year off as you're making
so much.
Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
From the buyout.
Speaker 6 (01:00:25):
I don't think he wants to necessarily take a year
off because sometimes you go out of sight, out of mind,
and I think for a lot of these programs that
are looking for a refresh look, James Franklin did a
tremendous job at Penn State. He just wasn't able to
get them to national championship contention despite being in the
semi finals a season ago.
Speaker 10 (01:00:40):
But if you're Virginia Tech.
Speaker 6 (01:00:42):
And you want to build back, I mean, look at
what James Franklin was able to do with Vanderbilt before
he took the Penn State job, had them in a
consistent spot to compete.
Speaker 10 (01:00:50):
And the ACC is an overall that deep, But it's.
Speaker 6 (01:00:52):
A question of where James Franklin thinks he can win
the big one, become a conference champion. And again, there
are going to be a lot of jobs that are open,
and I think team would be foolish if they didn't
at least have James Franklin on their list.
Speaker 2 (01:01:03):
Well, what a fascinating weekend, by the way, we have
coming up, because as we were talking about last see
not a lot of massive matchups in the NFL, and honestly,
not a lot of big time matchups in college football.
Who would have thought Vandy Missouri would be where college
game day is. But you know, everyone that kind of
craved more diversity in college football with the championship contenders,
well look what you got Vanderbilts in the playoff mix.
(01:01:26):
Don't look now, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Indiana. All these teams
are championship contenders right now. And I get a feeling
that everyone that cried about I'm tired of seeing the
Bamas as soon as they get to the playoffs, like already,
He's like, I don't want to watch Georgia Tech. I
don't care about Indiana. But this is the legit nature
of the new world we're in in college football.
Speaker 6 (01:01:45):
Everyone cries about the blue bloods until you have some
of the historically second rate programs right meant to what
they've been able to do all But to your point,
I mean, when you have the NFL in Week seventeen
and eighteen matched up with a potential Georgia Tech Vanderbilt
round playoff game, I mean, look, that was a non
conference game that got relegated to ACC network or SEC
network in the past.
Speaker 10 (01:02:05):
But you know, this is the world we live in.
Speaker 6 (01:02:07):
We've seen some cannibalization, and we'll continue to see it
in the SEC. And I'll go one step further that
I think you may have a de facto elimination game
in your backyard on Saturday, Chris, with this playing host
to Old Miss, a chance for the Sooners to take
advantage of an Old Miss team that may be licking
their wounds from what slipped through their fingers in Athens,
and an Old Miss team that wants to get right
back into the playoff mix with a big win on
(01:02:29):
the road before their schedule softens up.
Speaker 10 (01:02:30):
So we're gonna have a.
Speaker 6 (01:02:31):
Lot more intriguing games from a playoff standpoint, even if
we don't have a clear cut favorite at least in
my opinion right now to win the national champion. And look,
that does include Ohio State. I know I drew the
ire of Buckeyes fans it called Julian sand arguably the
best quarterback they've ever had.
Speaker 10 (01:02:45):
Strength to schedule has to mean something.
Speaker 6 (01:02:47):
And when you put up your biggest numbers against bottom
feeders and you don't do much against the Texas and
even the Washington's on your schedule, consider me a little
bit skeptical. And I'll go one step further and say
this Buckeye's defense hasn't been tested yet.
Speaker 3 (01:02:59):
Either his clubson's still a good job and his DABU
going to be well sought after or no, if he
does get fired, I think that.
Speaker 10 (01:03:08):
Is one of the more fascinating questions that's out there.
Speaker 6 (01:03:10):
I think, unlike James Franklin, who is unceremoniously let go
at Penn State after a three game losing streak, Dabo's
brought national championships to Clemson and so in my opinion,
he reserves the right to coach out the remainder of
this season. But I do feel like that's another program
that could be looking for a change. What direction they'll
elect to go and remains anybody's best guest, And unlike
James Franklin, I could see a scenario where Davo elected
(01:03:31):
to maybe take a year off to figure out exactly
what program he wanted to try and resurrect. But that'll
be one of the more intriguing top tier jobs that
I think is going to have a little bit of fallout,
And it wouldn't shock me right now if Davo was
not on the sidelines when we were talking about Clemson
football in twenty twenty seconds.
Speaker 2 (01:03:47):
Me neither, and I'm all in a bet he's gonna
end up with a really good job, Arnie. I would
take the side that someone would bring him in and
give him a chance to be their head coach and
take over their program. Have you ever seen anything like
that fourth quur between the Giants and the Broncos? I
was if I had a Giants ticket, I'd be walking
up to cash it, and then you get the botched
extra point. That doesn't give you an opportunity to save
(01:04:09):
yourself from a game winning field goal. What a wild
turn of events.
Speaker 6 (01:04:13):
Oh thankfully, the Giants that were the right side all
day as a seven point underdog, were at least able
to cover. But I did have a couple of colleagues
that thought they were sitting pretty with a Denver Broncos
team total ticket under twenty four and a half. And
when a team has a goose egg on the board
going into the fourth quarter, more often than not you
think you were going to have an excellent chance to
be able to catch that ticket. But alas, it's the
(01:04:33):
NFL and things continue to get wilder. I mean, trust me,
I'm sure Jackson Dart wishes he had the ball back
where the Giants could have tucked it, punted and not
given the Broncos all that momentum.
Speaker 10 (01:04:43):
But the sequence of events.
Speaker 6 (01:04:44):
For Denver to take the lead then give up the
lead after Dart led the Giants on a seven place
sixty five yard drive only to kick a game winning
field goal. Pretty wild stuff. And the NFL is the
best reality TV show going. And that's the main reason.
Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
Why Todd Tuesday, you know what's going on Tuesday. That's
the start of my New York Knicks on the way
to the NBA Championship. Finally I got something to be
excited about. Eleven to one for my New York Dicks.
You betting anybody to win the championship? Are you staying
away from basketball for now?
Speaker 6 (01:05:14):
I think the Eastern Conference is as wide open as
it's been. You know, we'll continue to monitor the injury
reports to see if the Celtics can get a little
bit healthier.
Speaker 10 (01:05:21):
But you know you mentioned the Knicks. We'll see if
they can live up to some of those lofty expectations.
Speaker 6 (01:05:26):
I don't think anybody has the faith to be running
to the window to try and back to Cleveland Cavaliers
at such a short number at seven to one in
the Eastern Conference. So it would have surprised you, aren'tie,
if you saw a team like maybe the Philadelphia seventy six,
or if they are able to get healthy or the
Detroit Pistons really have a chance to compete, Yes, it
would surprise me.
Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
Yes, it.
Speaker 10 (01:05:46):
Wouldn't surprise me.
Speaker 6 (01:05:47):
But I do think in the West the team to
watch not just the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, but
I feel like Denver's done enough to kind of close
that gap, and I think Denver has a chance to
emerge Victoria's. I think that may be some of the
best value out there right around five to one to
win West Conference.
Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
Hey Todd, let's go ahead and get the pain out
of the way right now. I mean, it is just pathetic.
You can't go out and do that against the Chiefs
and expect anyone to give a damn about you in
that city. Vegas wants winners, by God, and this franchise
has been an embarrassment to that city since they moved there.
Speaker 6 (01:06:17):
Yeah, I mean, talk about going into the bye week
with something that can't even be described as a whimper.
That was the definition earlier today, when they get whitewashed
by the Kansas City Chiefs of the tune of thirty
one nothing.
Speaker 10 (01:06:29):
I mean the Raiders ran.
Speaker 6 (01:06:30):
What a grand total of thirty Already the plays in
the game had thirty first downs. I mean, I think
at this point we've seen enough from Gino Smith. Do
I think Kenny Pickett's the answer, absolutely, But you have
to do something to kind of shake things up. And
it almost feels like the continuation of the Antonio Pierce
era for the Silver and Black. What I really thought
bringing in Pete Carroll would at least give that team
a floor, restore a little bit of culture, and when
(01:06:52):
you were ready to take that next step forward, you
can bring in a new head coach. But it feels
like more of the same for a team that's more
or less more abound at the bottom of the NFL standings.
If it wasn't for the Jets, I think people be
talking about Raiders' futility a hell of a lot more.
Speaker 3 (01:07:05):
Todd I was actually go to bet ole Tani to
hit three home runs last game. I just just missed
out on that one. How you bet in the World Series?
How are you going to go ahead? And are you
betting Game seven and how you get to bet the
World Series.
Speaker 6 (01:07:16):
I think it's great that we have a chance to
get a Game seven tomorrow. I'm sure one of these
teams actually prefers to take it a little bit longer,
to have some momentum for the team that does emerge
victorious going into the World Series against the Dodgers, who
will no doubt be a heavy favorite. But the Blue
Jays haven't been to the Fall Classic and thirty plus
years the Mariners have never been there.
Speaker 10 (01:07:36):
So you love to see that kind of winner take
all drama.
Speaker 6 (01:07:40):
And for me, while Seattle's pitching staff have been the
story all regular season long, I am concerned about how
they'll match up against the Dodgers. Look, I think the
Blue Jays could be plucky underdogs and it'd be a
fun team to root for. But this Dodgers team right
now reminds me a lot of an NHL equivalent of
Florida Panthers and what we've seen from them in the
last couple of years. Just get to the tournament, get healthy,
be playing your best ball when it matters most, and
(01:08:01):
they feel like an.
Speaker 10 (01:08:02):
Absolute free train.
Speaker 6 (01:08:03):
Although the Brewers provided nothing more than a speed bump
in my opinion in the NLC.
Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Buddy, great stuff, Todd, appreciate your time. Talk to again
next Sunday night. Good luck with all the wagers this week.
Thanks Dodd.
Speaker 10 (01:08:14):
Always a pleasure. Gents, have a great week.
Speaker 2 (01:08:16):
There is Todd Ferman every Sunday night here on Fox Sports. Right,
you know, let's bring in Steve de Sager with what's
trending in the world of sports, what's going on? So
I'm glad his Chargers lost too.
Speaker 4 (01:08:25):
That made me happy because you have nothing else in
your life.
Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
Tried it exactly, You're right, all right?
Speaker 8 (01:08:31):
That was It's covered the first segment. Unfortunately, every Sunday
and every Sunday. As for the Toronto Blue Jays forcing
a Game seven, they'll be hosting that in Canada Monday
night on Fox TV and FS one. After beating a
Seattle team tonight, they committed three errors, struck out thirteen
times six to the final in games.
Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
Car's not walking through that door.
Speaker 8 (01:08:50):
Nonetheless, Toronto seems to have the better team, doesn't it.
I mean, they've got a little more wiggle room in this.
It's not just hey, we're at home, by the way,
in this postseason, this month, this is already sick. Different
series that have gone the distance, and the Mariners even
got here to the Alcs. Remember that fifteen inning went
against Detroit. That was Game five of the best of
five Division series. There's a great baseball researcher, Sarah Langs.
Speaker 4 (01:09:13):
If you know her story. If you don't, you should.
Speaker 8 (01:09:15):
But she's really good at what she does, and that
is research, and she's come up with this tonight. Ever
since in the last forty years that it's been a
best of seven LCS, have we ever had a time
where one league it was a four game sweep and
in the other league the LCS went the full seven
The answer is yes, four yes, of course, four previous times.
(01:09:37):
And in each of those four previous times, the team
that was pushed to the full seven game series also
won the World Series right after that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (01:09:47):
Ever, guess that I was times was orl Herscheizer and
the Dodgers in nineteen eighty eight, they took seven to
upset the Mets, and then they amazingly swept the A's
or beat them in five, but beat an A's team
that had just swept And people were talking dominance and
dynasty and all of that, and the Den. We absolutely
they were, and they won the World Series the very
(01:10:07):
next year and got to the World Series the year
after that. We're expecting a Game seven pitching matchup of
the two guys who faced each other last Wednesday, and
the blue Jays dominated. Shane Bieber will be on the mound.
And this is a guy who won a Cy Young
Award for Cleveland five years ago. He's backing healthy and
a Toronto Blue Jay. He is a Southern California native
(01:10:29):
Laguna Hills High School pitch for UC Santa Barbara and
could be pitching the Blue Jays into a World Series
against the LA Dodgers. When he faced the Mariners in
Seattle last Wednesday, six innings, eight strikeouts, his team won
thirteen to four against George Kirby, who could be the
Mariners Game seven starter tomorrow, a former first round pick
(01:10:49):
from Elon University in North Carolina. But Kirby was walloped
by the Blue Jays lineup last Wednesday, three home runs
in four innings, eight run total. That might be the
Game seven pitching matchup for tomorrow night in Canada. And
so if Toronto wins tomorrow, they're hosting the Dodgers in
games one and two of the World Series starting Friday
(01:11:11):
night on Fox TV. And for those who weren't with
US an hour ago, the reason Toronto would be hosting
is because they finished with ninety four wins and the
Dodgers finished with ninety three. The difference is the Dodgers
were going for a weekend sweep a couple of months
ago hosting Toronto, and the Dodger bullpen gave up two
homers in the eighth and one in the ninth and
(01:11:33):
lost the game dead no show them. Toronto finished with
one more victory than La Chase Briscoe won the NASCAR
race at Talladega, NHL Chicago won in overtime against Anaheim,
and Kevin Durant signed an extension with the Houston Rockets
one year plus an option. As for the NFL news,
you talked about the Raiders being off next weekend. The
(01:11:54):
Rams just played in London. They'll be off next weekend.
Jaguars just played in London today, They'll be off next weekend.
Lions are playing tomorrow night. They'll be off next weekend.
Seahawks are playing late tomorrow. They'll be off next weekend.
Cardinals had their buy next weekend. Six teams in the
NFL are all going to have their buys next week.
By the way, in a week, there will only be
(01:12:16):
one Monday night game. It'll be Washington at Kansas City,
and that'll be the final Monday of the month of October.
Believe it or not, we just don't know who's going
to be quarterbacking for Washington that night because Jayden Daniels
left the game at Dallas today with a hamstring injury.
MRI coming up on Monday, Washington was already missing its
top three wide receivers. Dallas beat up the Commanders forty
(01:12:38):
four to twenty two. Green Bay one at Arizona twenty
seven to twenty three on a touchdown with under two
minutes left Josh Jacobs with his second tv Ron. Packers
had trailed thirteen to three just before halftime, and then
Lucas Haversa kicked a sixty one yard field goal. At Dallas,
the great Brandon Aubrey kicked ay sixty one yard er today,
Colts beat the Chargers thirty eight twenty four in LA.
(01:12:59):
The Colts on third down conversions five for ten and
on fourth down conversions they were three for three. Do
you know the Colts who are the best team in
the league right now six and one. They're not only
the best scoring team in the league thirty three points
a game and had more than that today when they
go forward on fourth down. The Colts are nine for
eleven so far this season.
Speaker 2 (01:13:21):
I think I called that.
Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
I'm not sure about that one.
Speaker 2 (01:13:23):
Is this whole segment just Arnie calling thingsthing or got
an update?
Speaker 8 (01:13:29):
Indi had the most yards allowed by any Charger day
so far this season. When Jayden Daniels and company visited
LA a couple of weeks ago, they got just under
three hundred ninety. Colts finished with just over three hundred
ninety yards, but it was the start that won the game.
Indy led twenty three to three at the half. In fact,
at one point, just after two drives for each team
(01:13:50):
today in LA, the Colts were at about one hundred
and fifty yards and the Chargers were at about fifty yards.
You know you mentioned the disparity in that Chiefs games.
They beat up shut out the Las Vegas Raiders thirty
one to nothing. At one point in that game, the
Chiefs had run over fifty plays on offense and the
Raiders only had about fifty yards of offense.
Speaker 4 (01:14:13):
That's what a huge dispairity was. And then there's the Denver.
Speaker 8 (01:14:16):
Game thirty three thirty two over the Giants on a
field goal final play. The Broncos scored all thirty three
points in the fourth quarter. Tonight's game at San Francisco
went to the Niners twenty ten over Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (01:14:27):
Back to you, all right, the Sega good stuff. I
did want to read a couple of tweets here because
I thought this was a very good question before we
get to the segment and.
Speaker 3 (01:14:35):
Here, and you forgot one we definitely have to read too,
So go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
Well, I mean, go ahead if there's one that we
definitely have to Well, it was one I thought I
saw it earlier and I just got reminded if that
you would have definitely would have brought it up. Jason B.
Diamond Road.
Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
How awesome was you ab beating Memphises today as Chris
Mortensen sn out greatest coaching debut on Saturday?
Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
That was that was good? That was fantastic. They beat
a ranked team too. Yes, mid right, it's a good
Memphis team. That was a Memphis team that was maybe
the playoff hunt. You know, you win your power four league,
and you're the highest excuse me, group of five, group
of six, whatever I had. Now you win that league,
you're probably the Mixico of the playoffs as the highest
ranked team that might have been a playoff team that
(01:15:18):
just got bounced. I like ties who writes, I truly
want to know what is more of a heartbreaker the
Dolphins getting routed by a bad Browns team or the
Giants having the big lead only to blow it giant
back and then lose it again, to.
Speaker 3 (01:15:34):
Give it up three thirty three points in the fourth.
And you're right, they got it back at the end,
only to give up a couple of deep plays and
then lose it because they missed an extra point and
they give up the field goals.
Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
So they and they gave up.
Speaker 3 (01:15:46):
That interception with under five minutes left, which really cost
them the game.
Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
That was that was a heartbreaker. And how about our
man tiger Man in Utah. He's on vacation in Italy
and in order to be able to listen, he went
in this hotel bathroom and listen to the show. He
is committed. That is commitment. All of y'all. Whenever you're
on vacation, should be in a hotel bathroom listening with
(01:16:11):
your AirPods?
Speaker 3 (01:16:12):
What what time is it in Italy? I have no
idea in Italy, it is currently uh six forty three am.
Oh okay, So he's having a croissant and listening to
us in the morning.
Speaker 2 (01:16:26):
Or or or they stayed up late.
Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
And having some winding listening to us.
Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
In the morning. All right, when we come back to
a segment next on Fox Sports Radio, all right, we
got a hustle. What you got, mis Sager, Let's get
after it.
Speaker 8 (01:16:41):
Let us start with the NFL weekend, because we wind
up including the Denver game, with three game winning scores
this weekend in the last two minutes. Green Bay won
that way at Arizona Denver. Of course, we'll get to
in a moment the Cincinnati game Thursday as well. That
Denver win was thirty three thirty two over the Giants,
even though they were down nineteen nothings starting the fourth
(01:17:03):
with six minutes left. The Broncos trailed at home today
twenty six to eight, meaning that the Denver Broncos are
the first team since nineteen seventy to be down eighteen
or more with six minutes left and still in regulation
win the game. They wind up with thirty three points
in the fourth quarter. The NFL record is thirty four
(01:17:25):
in a fourth quarter by one team, set by Detroit
two thousand and seven. And we've also got yet again
in the NFL, teams that missed the playoffs the previous year.
Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
Doing well out of the blue. This is part of
the popularity.
Speaker 8 (01:17:40):
There are many things that caused the NFL popularity, but
this is one of them that most fan bases think, well,
I've seen such and such team was last place and
they're contending for playoffs now.
Speaker 2 (01:17:50):
Well.
Speaker 8 (01:17:51):
New England, Chicago, Bears, Carolina they all missed the playoffs
last year. They all currently have at least three game
winning streaks. And New England with Dre May today got
a victory at Tennessee thirty one to thirteen. The Pats
have won four in a row. They're five and two.
They're alone and first in the division with Buffalo off
this weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
Believable.
Speaker 8 (01:18:11):
New England is four and zero on the road so far.
And Drake May today was twenty one of twenty three
passing ninety one percent completions. That is a single game
franchise record, and to at his age, he's not yet
twenty four to have a passer rating of at least
one hundred each of his first four road starts of
(01:18:32):
a season. That's getting close to the Dak Prescott record
his first six road starts almost a decade ago. We
mentioned early. Oh, by the way, Drake May for the
season seventy five percent completions. Only Drew Brees has had
a completion percentage that high this deep into.
Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
It, he's been Steve Grogan for crying out loud. Let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:18:53):
A nice call there that goes back forty years exactly.
Speaker 8 (01:18:56):
The Indianapolis Colts had the best record in the league
at six and and Jonathan Taylor had three touchdown runs
in LA beating the Chargers. The Chargers had not allowed
one guy to have three touchdown runs in a game
in over a decade, and a guy that did that
for Washington back in twenty thirteen. Those were mostly one
touchdown runs. Not the case for Jonathan Taylor. And this
(01:19:17):
is three different games already this year He's had three
TV runs on only sixteen carries ninety four yards rushing today.
So here's Taylor's season so far, seven games, almost seven
hundred yards rush. He's at six ninety seven right now.
The Indianapolis drives to start the games. It was seventy
(01:19:37):
five yards touchdown, seventy yard drives, seven and a half minutes,
touchdown on a fourth down, then an eighty yard drive
touchdown twenty three to three by halftime. In fact, it
was just the first thirteen plays of the Colts offense,
not about over two hundred yards.
Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
Two guys from the same team are in the top
three for the MVP. Maybe Daniel Jones and Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
How about yeah, and you know.
Speaker 8 (01:19:59):
How they say one is MVP and one is Offensive
Player of the Year that kind of thing. Ye, yep,
Sekwon Barkley isn't the MVP than okay, offensive Player of
the year. But the Colts in the first half they
went to three for three on fourth downs. They had
almost two hundred and seventy five yards of offense in
the first half. They had the three tds I mentioned.
I will say justin Herbert with no line in front
(01:20:22):
of him and no running backs behind him through for
four hundred and twenty yards.
Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
Oo not too shabby. Wow. Hour two in the books,
when we come back to find out what we learned.
Great update from the saga in the the segment he's
gotten more with all the scores and highlights. We had
a coach firing today in the national in college football,
maybe one of the National Football League coming up, and
Arnie's picks right around the corner right here on Fox
(01:20:48):
Sports Radio, stick around all right, there we go powerw Wow, Wow,
what's wow? Just how quickly the show's flown by? Well
that too.
Speaker 3 (01:20:59):
I just shocked what our producer said about San Francisco
forty nine er fans.
Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
What he's saying he doesn't like the fans.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
Are all the same, and they're all miserable people.
Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
It sounds like you snitch. I think that's just Darnie.
Speaker 3 (01:21:14):
No, did you not say that to me before the
show starts?
Speaker 5 (01:21:17):
No, no, no, no, he did say that.
Speaker 3 (01:21:18):
He did. And then you said, except for Ruler, he's
a nice guy. I like.
Speaker 5 (01:21:23):
Or doesn't mean you have to snitch, Arnie.
Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
I know that, but I felt like snitching. But then
I said, what about rich Davis? Is he a miserable guy?
And then you kind of didn't you know, you didn't say, no,
he's a good guy too. You you threw him under
the bus. What are you talking about? Did you not
say that all forty nine ers fans are miserable.
Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
I'm a Seahawks fan, man, I don't like the Niners,
but look at say nice things about Yeah, I say
nice things about some of my rides. You don't say
nice things about what's your point of bringing it up?
Speaker 4 (01:21:59):
I just thought snitch.
Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
I wanted to snitch on him, that's all. Really, Well,
you mean the person whom you don't acknowledge exists and
you oh like you don't know their name.
Speaker 3 (01:22:08):
If I said that about the forty nine er fans,
you'd be ripping me like crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:22:12):
Well, you're the co host of the show, and you
basically yell about every fan base and you call them
all soft, and you're better than all of them. So
why why?
Speaker 3 (01:22:21):
Pretty much, I'm more of a fan. I'm shocked I did.
I thought they're real fans. I'm more of a fan
than like ninety nine percent of our listeners. I'm shocked
about that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:30):
I didn't. Well, you don't have anything else to do
in life right now, except that is true this show,
and be it true, most of the people that listen
to this program have a job that they're getting up
early for. This is my trophy. Husband, right, all you
do ye Week seven of the NFL not quite in
the books. We have a Monday night football doubleheader, bucks
lines tomorrow night, well, I guess tonight in the Central
(01:22:50):
and Eastern time zone, and then late tends like Central
for the Texans and the Seahawks. You don't like those lates.
I like it staggered.
Speaker 3 (01:22:57):
I like what the seven fifteen, eight to fifteen, which
is what they had last week, I believe, But the
seven and the ten takes me out for the ten
o'clock or for the most part, maybe I stay up
for the first half.
Speaker 2 (01:23:08):
Well, with that in mind, Arnie, let's kick off our
time honored tradition of the seven o'clock or a final hour.
After week seven, I know this. Where do you want
to start?
Speaker 3 (01:23:18):
After Week seven? I know this, Chris, and it finally
caught up to them. This was one bad week of
NFL action. The six morning games, I believe five of
them were just a bore fest out there.
Speaker 2 (01:23:29):
I believe.
Speaker 3 (01:23:30):
I was at Philadelphia Minnesota that really, for the most part,
piqued my interest. But there was a lot of bad game.
What did you say about that one that wasn't even
a good kid? It really wasn't to be honest, So
there was a lot of bad football, at least in
the morning games. There was at least more intriguing in
the afternoon. But we didn't have a good slate this week,
that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:23:51):
After Week seven, I know this. I think I think
your boy is finally cooked. Here's what Mike McDaniel said
POSTCME whenever the Dolphins coach was asked about his job
his job security.
Speaker 9 (01:24:04):
Mind, it very offensive to all parties involved. If I'm
thinking about having the job, I need to be doing
my job. So for as long as a coach for
the Miami Dolphins in this organization, they'll get everything from me.
Speaker 2 (01:24:22):
Yeah, when's your by coming up? That's probably when he's gone,
right right? How much does he get to be bought out?
I don't even know. I don't think the NFL teams
even care about biots. I think the college world becomes
a buyout issue because they're public institutions, right, most most
of them are not private schools like of Auburn, Florida.
Florida is a public school. Billy Napier's paid through state funds,
(01:24:46):
and I don't know Florida's athletic department works as a
separate entity like say Oklahomas does. So I don't think
buyouts matter in the NFL. It's a rich ass owner
that decides if he wants to keep you around or not.
And I don't think you can fire them right now
because you have the Falcons and then you have that
quick turnaround for the Ravens because you play two games
in four days. You play the Falcons on Sunday afternoon,
(01:25:09):
and then you turn around. You got the prime game
against the Ravens. So there is that stretch. Oh my gosh,
you don't have your buye until after the Commander's game,
so you have more games until the bye. Yeah. I
don't think they'll fire him until that point. I don't
think so, I cause you got I mean you're gonna
Is there a coach I mean, Mike, Mike, who's on
(01:25:30):
there that could potentially be a Dolphins interim head coach?
Do you even know that?
Speaker 3 (01:25:36):
You mean that doesn't have a job right now, or
that has a job.
Speaker 2 (01:25:39):
Okay, who on the Dolphins coaching staff could be your
interim head coach? You're not gonna go bring in someone
from outside to be your interim head.
Speaker 3 (01:25:47):
Right there's there's nobody that I want to be forget
about it. Nobody Daryl be got over Darryl Bevill would
be the guy. No, forget Well, I'm just telling you
that's that's the only guy.
Speaker 2 (01:25:58):
The Wisconsin guy was that who that was? No, No, no,
Daryl Bevell is a guy that was up for like
every single job, every single year and never got it.
Maybe maybe one of your defensive coaches. Joe Barry, is
a guy that's been talked about as a potential head
coach coach way back in the day, but I don't
see anyone on your coaching staff that could be he
might get to keep his job because there might not
(01:26:19):
be a guy that would serve as a great interim
right now unless they did go way, way, way off
the off the board and bring in someone like the
Colts did the year they brought in Jeff Saturday. It
can't imagine that at this point of the year. But
I think he's cooked. But I don't know that Miami
has a guy that's just waiting to jump in and
take this thing over.
Speaker 3 (01:26:39):
It.
Speaker 2 (01:26:39):
Is that even a good job anymore? Yeah? Is that
still a good job?
Speaker 3 (01:26:42):
Being that goach of the Dolphins?
Speaker 2 (01:26:44):
I think it depends on how you view two, because
he's gonna be your guy for a while. So if
you if you think Tooa is a guy you can
win with, then I think you gotta feel like it's
a good gig. I mean, you guys, guys were a
playoff team in two the last three years, and the
(01:27:05):
bottom's just falling out this year. So I still think
it's a good job. It's a good job.
Speaker 3 (01:27:10):
But also the same fact that Buffalo's phone a little
bit back to Earth and it's New England that's trying
to take on over, So it's not that hard to
try to get back on track in that division at
least all right, where you want to go next? Well,
after Week seven, I know this, Your Raiders are horrible.
(01:27:30):
I didn't think they were going to be that bad,
but they're just as bad as advertised. I mean, at first,
I thought maybe they were gonna be making a playoff run,
especially after that first weekend one the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
Yeah, I just thought they were going to Patriots. They
played in Week one and they beat him in Week one.
Speaker 3 (01:27:47):
Yeah, yeah, I thought they were gonna maybe make a
push this year after that, and then I'm like, geech,
they're horrible. They're worse than anticipated. So it's gonna be
another long year for your I think they're the worst
team in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
No, that's not true. No, No, I look at point differential,
look at the scores of the games when they lose.
The only team that I can look at their schedule
and say, dang man, I was tight. They should have
won that game was the Bears, and they had no
business losing that game to the Bears. They got wiped
out by Indianapolis. They got destroyed by Washington, they got
(01:28:22):
what what did? What was Kevin figures line that he
would always use a curb stomped by the today molly wopped. Yeah,
they got destroyed by the Chiefs today. I mean forty
to six, thirty one to zero. They beat the Titans,
all right. I mean they might be the worst team
(01:28:43):
in the end of Miami's only winners against the Jets,
and that just don't have a way. We're playing tight
games and outside of today, we look how close you
were playing the week before. The Raiders are just bad.
Here's what happened. They tried to I don't know if
it was bridge a gap or whatever. Instead of going
young at quarterback. Trying to draft a quarterback this year,
(01:29:04):
they decided to do what, Oh, listen to Pete Carroll,
We'll bring in Geno Smith. And by god, we should
have listened to Seahawk fans because he sucks. I don't
know any other way. And sorry, Scott, I don't have
a professional term. I using he is terrible. And I
mean when the Chiefs have as many points as you
have plays, I mean that's a problem when we're celebrating
(01:29:27):
a game for Geno Smith because oh, well, look you
didn't throw an interception. I mean, that's dude. Gino Smith
today was ten of seventeen or ten of sixteen. Excuse
me for sixty seven yards out sixty seven yards. Shoot
him to the moon in a spaceship. Get him out
(01:29:50):
of here. I don't know what it is. Launch him
out of here, go bye. I'll go with Kenny Pickett
or An O'Connell the rest of the way. They're not
running the football. Chip Kelly can get on that rocket
ship with him. Dawn. I'm sorry, Seahawk fans should have
listened to you, but that's a problem. Gino's gotta be done.
Speaker 3 (01:30:07):
Is there a lot of quarterbacks in the draft this
year or not really.
Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
No, it's just it was a bad quarterback draft. If
they were smart, they probably would have tried to get
Jackson Dart in the first round because it looks like
he's going to be dude, and they are fanning they No,
I think will be okay, John Mattiers. I'd rather have
John Mattier. Maybe after week seven. I know this. I
do think we're gonna see some interesting quarterback decisions that
(01:30:33):
need to be made. Okay, starting with the Jets, I
think maybe we've seen the last of Justin Fields. Tyrod Taylor.
I don't know if he gives any better chance to win,
but you're zero to seven, so that's number one, Number
two your Dolphins. I know, I'm kind of banging that
drum a little bit here. They did elevate Quinn Yours
to second string. He came in today. I'm sure you
(01:30:53):
had turned it by then.
Speaker 1 (01:30:54):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:30:55):
I knew he came in, but that wasn't gonna make
a difference because they're paying or too much money.
Speaker 2 (01:31:00):
The Bengals now, Listen, there'd been rumors are trying to
reach out to Derek Carr, and Derek Carr is like, listen,
I'm kind of done. I want something more long term.
I love it. Name is my quarterback. I wouldn't mind
get him back Raiders, But like, what do you do
like Joe Flacco's I guess he's your dude. Not to
say you're gonna go with flackover, bro, That's not my point.
(01:31:22):
But in the next few weeks, you know, if he struggles,
is Jake browning out? What about what's going on right now? Well,
I don't rely want to talk about the Raiders because
that's gonna bring me absolute and utter pain. What about
what's going on in Washington where the injury bug that
has betten, Jane Daniels, Marcus Mariota, the Vikings have to
decide what in the world's going on there? Because I mean, listen,
(01:31:42):
JJ McCarthy. They showed a wild stat and I think
it was like twenty twenty six, maybe twenty two. He's
been injured for twenty two of his twenty three NFL
play games. I mean, it's like, how can you count
on that at any point during the year. And it
was a real fun story with Carson Wentz in the
first week when he came in, but I think it
(01:32:03):
started and he threw dude, he threw for three hundred
yards today, like wentz through for three thirteen today, but
threw two very costly picks. So I don't know what's
going on in Minnesota right now.
Speaker 1 (01:32:14):
And then.
Speaker 2 (01:32:16):
I mean, Arizona has been right there the last two weeks.
I had Willard talking about this, and I think he's right.
You know, Kyler Murray was inactive today and Arizona once
again nearly beat a team that we all feel like
is better than them in the Packers before with the Colts.
Two are Murray, who would you rather have as you
starting quarterback? Well, listen, I'm a homer on that, so
I would take Kyler Murray every single time. But this
(01:32:39):
is also a Colts team, all right, excuse me, a
Cardinals team. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:32:42):
That.
Speaker 2 (01:32:43):
While they nearly beat the Colts and the Packers with
Kyler Murray out, they lost to the Titans with Kyler
Murray in there. And they're a hard team to figure
out because here's their losses. A one point loss of
the Niners, a three point loss of the Seahawks, a
one point loss of the Titans in the game they
should have won, a four point loss to the best
(01:33:03):
team in the AFC and the Colts and a four
point loss today. I mean, Arnie, are they good or
are they terrible? I can't figure it out because there
they're supposed to be turning the corner this year. I
thought they were gonna be making a run. It doesn't
look like that's gonna by the way, after week seven,
I know this. The Washington team, the Commanders are not
making the playoffs. They're gonna fall on their heels.
Speaker 3 (01:33:24):
They're gonna fall behind the They're already behind the Cowboys
in Philadelphia, but they're gonna finish in third place. And
who knows how bad it's gonna finish off with them.
They're they're just not looking very good at all.
Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
Well, put them against the Raiders. Are they are? Are
the Cowboys good? I think so.
Speaker 3 (01:33:41):
I think they're better. I mean they're better than the
record shows.
Speaker 2 (01:33:44):
I believe they're three three and one. I mean, it's
make this make sense. They lose to the Panthers and
the Bears. Now the Panthers was to come back. The
Bears kick the snot out of them. They tie the
Packers in a game they should have won. They destroy
(01:34:04):
the Commanders. They let the Jets hang around a bit,
and they beat the Giants whenever they were in control
of that game, and let Russell Wilson throw for four
hundred yards against him, I guess in his last gasp.
So by all of these kind of notes and nuggets
so far, they're going to go to Denver and get
molly wopped this weekend, right, No.
Speaker 3 (01:34:25):
Ceedee Lambs, that's gott to play a point in this.
Speaker 2 (01:34:28):
Well, they toured forty four points without him today.
Speaker 3 (01:34:31):
I know, I know, but it does have a little
bit of effect, but not that much for them. Offensively,
Dak has been putting up some big numbers. This is
the first year I'm finally saying to myself, Man, Dak
is putting up some big time numbers.
Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
He's unbelievable. Well, I mean in defensive Dak, It's never
been an issue about his numbers. It's always been an
issue winning games. That's exactly it. It's been about winning games.
So that's why he gets a lot of scrutiny about it. Yeah,
his numbers have always been fine. I mean, heck, he
has the rookie record for what most touchdowns down in
the rookie season.
Speaker 3 (01:35:03):
So yeah, Jerry didn't want to get in the contract
extension for the longest time.
Speaker 2 (01:35:06):
Well he gave it to him finally. All right, anything
else you want to add to this list?
Speaker 3 (01:35:11):
Well, after week seven, I know this a team that
I thought was going to win the division, to make
a run into the playoffs and be scary. They're not scary. Oh,
they're not scaring me at all. They're just a flat again,
pathetic no offense. That's the Atlanta Falcons. What is the
identity of this team? You got the quarterback that you wanted,
You're ready to make the next move, you got yourself
(01:35:32):
maybe the best running back in the NFL, and you
still can't move the ball. Very disappointing if I'm an
Atlanta Falcon fan.
Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
After Week seven, I know this, or maybe I should
say I don't know this. I don't really know. Like
we were talking about McDaniel and whether or not he
should be fired or what they should do. The Titans
main a movid coach and it didn't really affect anything
with Mike McCoy taking over there, I don't I guess
as a general thought, I'm kind of on team Arnie
with this one, where I don't really know what different
(01:36:00):
and in season coaching this change would make And then
I look at UCLA and you're like, that hadn't worked
out the world. So I wonder two places, same city
if a coaching change would do them right, New York
Jets New York Giants, because I kind of feel like
the Giants have found something obviously with Jackson Dart, with
(01:36:20):
Cam Skataboo. I mean, they it's fun to watch him.
But yet they lost to the Saints in the Broncos
and in the Broncos lost that they had no business losing,
and in the Saints game where they never really had
a chance to win, and oh yeah, in the middle
of that meat that sandwich, is it dominating win over
the Eagles on Thursday Night football? Like, ma make what's
going on with the Cowboys and the Giants makes sense?
(01:36:43):
What makes me? Does it helped with the coach being gone?
If Dable's gone, what makes.
Speaker 3 (01:36:47):
You want to fire Gwen after what is it seven games?
Speaker 2 (01:36:51):
What makes you think that he's just not the guy
because everyone's yelling that he can't get it going offensively,
that that's a problem the time there kids, you give
him two years at least for crying out loud. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
By the way, Gridles, black guy. You're right, CD was
back today. My bad. He came back today and had
a big game. He was one of the reasons why
(01:37:11):
they won. But I will say this much, I don't
know what to think about Aaron Glenn as a coach.
It's like you go oh and seven, you go ohen seven, Arnie,
and you're not gonna Are they gonna win? I think
I'm then eight, Uh, you get to like oh and
nine as long as you don't have as long as
you don't have a mutiny, as long as you don't
(01:37:34):
have players that are I don't know, crushing him in
the media or taking shots at They're not getting they're
not getting throttled. I mean, their biggest loss was to
the Bills in Week two and they lost by three scores.
But they're in just about every single game, right, So
I mean, they go to Cincinnati next week, then they
get the Browns, so I mean, maybe get a couple
(01:37:55):
of wins. But I'm with you, I don't know if
it would work there, but I'm wondering if it would
work for the Giants.
Speaker 3 (01:38:02):
I think Jackson Dart is going to just take the
Giants and be a playoff contender. For years and years
to come. I mean, he yeah, I just think he's tremendous.
He does not a win yet. That interception today was
just awful, Chris, But I like him a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:38:18):
I just like him a lot. And by the way,
let me fix that, because for CD today he was
absolutely awesome. Five catches, one hundred and ten yards and
a touchdown. So yeah, including a seventy four yard touchdown
pass made a big difference for the Cowboys. But like
you said, it's really seeing Dak put up numbers and
when he's putting up those numbers winning games for the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (01:38:38):
A right.
Speaker 2 (01:38:38):
Anything else you want to add from what we learned,
By the way, I guess I could add week seven,
it would help if Ceedee Lamb was healthy for the
Cowboys because when he is, look what they seem to
be capable of doing. All right, anything else you want
to add? Are we good?
Speaker 3 (01:38:50):
We're good.
Speaker 2 (01:38:50):
We're good. Just wasn't the best week.
Speaker 3 (01:38:53):
But we'll see what happens next week.
Speaker 2 (01:38:54):
And right now, when you say it wasn't the best week,
you mean that the games were bad, right, right, Bobby?
Speaker 3 (01:39:00):
Did you know that the Kansas City Chiefs are not
in the playoffs as of today if the season ended,
how about that?
Speaker 2 (01:39:07):
Well, okay, we're six games in.
Speaker 3 (01:39:10):
It's seven that those shows tonight. Just want to throw
that out there.
Speaker 2 (01:39:14):
I mean, okay, do you think they're not going to
make the playoffs? They'll make the playoffs. No, they'll make it. Yeah,
what a pointless note. All right, when we come back,
we got the Sager, I got some highlights and some
updates from the locker rooms coming up here on Fox
Sports Radio. All right, let me hit some of this
post game sound. We got our editors that have been
(01:39:36):
chopping it up all night long. This is my music.
Speaker 3 (01:39:38):
Now you're talking, Oh the Eagles, right, yeah, wait to
figure that one out.
Speaker 2 (01:39:45):
Well, I mean, Arnie, bless your heart, man. You you
if we were going to try to play a tribute
to someone tonight and we were worried about whether or
not you even knew who the person was, Oh so California.
Come on, I mean, listen, we can go a little
deeper in the Eagles library if you want, but not
the Eagles man, not tonight. Sean Payton talks about the
(01:40:06):
fourth quarter momentum in the game between the Broncos and
the Giants.
Speaker 11 (01:40:10):
We got the you know, the first score we needed,
and then then obviously we get into two minute offense.
I don't want to hear about tempo, but I think
we made enough plays in a short period of time,
and that was part of like, you can't just have
a long two minute drill touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:40:27):
We had chunks.
Speaker 11 (01:40:28):
And the final play to Sutton was a play we
installed yesterday, and it was you know, you get in
those fastball situations with cover much time left in the clock,
no timeouts. We walked through it, went through it, and
sure enough it came up the hash everything. You know
that the two of those guys made a great play,
throw and catch put us in field goal range.
Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
You know, obviously did you see him get out on
the field and get the penalty?
Speaker 3 (01:40:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:40:52):
I did.
Speaker 3 (01:40:53):
You thought that it was going to cost the game anyway.
By the way, if we were doing the show going
into the fourth quarter of that game, I would have
been all over for Bonick saying enough with this guy,
which you please, he's he's nothing special. I'm tired of
people just screaming out, great this guy is and blah
blah blah. Thank goodness, I got to wait till after
the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:41:11):
That was crazy. Yeah, I think, thank goodness you're not
in that uh in that time slaughter jerk reaction, right, Yeah,
that unsportsmanlike conduct that he got, and then he had
the botched extra point. I mean that's just UNI believe.
Speaker 3 (01:41:26):
Can I just when you said the unsports were like,
can I just say that I believe that the officiating
not only in the NFL but college football also.
Speaker 2 (01:41:34):
Has just been atrocious. I mean this is not just
because of your Wildcats, is it? Well?
Speaker 3 (01:41:40):
I mean I gave I did tweet out a replay
that was so obvious that he didn't catch the ball
and they didn't overturn it. I mean literally, the the
officiating in the NFL is horrific, absolutely horrific, and they're
I don't know why. It's getting worse and worse every year.
(01:42:02):
They got to do something about it. I don't think
people really want to be officials.
Speaker 2 (01:42:06):
To be honest with you, I mean, would you, Oh,
the money's not bad, I agree, but where you start
it's terrible. So I mean you got to take all
the pain, you got to take all the abuse. I
mean I don't really I don't really know if it's
worth it, and I don't know what we're looking at
sometimes on replays because I feel like, you see, it's
(01:42:29):
pretty obvious on certain things right right, and then like
h on a really stand like, no, that's that's impossible.
I like the expedited reviews now that it's become my
new favorite thing. When something is glaringly obvious, I mean,
just so stupid obvious. We're like, oh, okay, and now
they have it, will they'll buzz down to get that
(01:42:51):
fixed quickly. I like listening in well a CC in
Big twelve doing that right now is really cool. I
hope everyone else jumps in on that. Here is let's
see what else do I have here? Kevin Stefan, you
don't want to hear Kevin Stefanski. How about the other
side of it, Jackson Dart in that Denver Giants game,
I never felt like we were gonna lose the game,
(01:43:11):
So you know, I looked at the clock when they scored,
said we got a lot of time left. I had.
I had no doubt that we were gonna go down
there and score. Well, you were right.
Speaker 3 (01:43:23):
I had no doubt that you were going to give
up the lead at the last play of the game too.
Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
You were right.
Speaker 1 (01:43:27):
But in the end.
Speaker 2 (01:43:29):
I don't don't things think things really worked out that
well anything from the morning game. We haven't even talked
about the Rams dominating the Jaguars. Kind of like it
was out of side, out of mine this morning. Yeah,
it was forty by the time. Everyone kind of wiped
the sleep out of their eyes.
Speaker 3 (01:43:43):
I know, I thought it was going to be a
closer game, Rams getting there, laid and all that, but
they they just put the you know, a herd on them.
Speaker 2 (01:43:50):
It wasn't even close. It was horrible game. I was
hoping that we had a little bit of Schottenheimer, seeing
that I had just completely brain farted on Ceedee Lamb's day.
I was hoping we had a little bit of Schottenheimer
talking about the decision or excuse me on the way
they played to that. But we don't have anything from Schottenheimer.
But I do have this from Aaron Glenn on deciding
(01:44:12):
to bench justin Fields today.
Speaker 12 (01:44:15):
I understand the nature of the quarterback change and listen,
we needed a spark at that time. I felt it
was the right time to do it out. There's a
tough situation for both of those guys, but it was
my call. It was my call and I felt it
was the right time to do it. So when it
goes into the next week, I'm not ready to sit
here and say what's going on happening next week with
all quarterbacks? But I will say this, that's something I
(01:44:36):
have to look at, you know, So any.
Speaker 2 (01:44:39):
Questions, Yeah, why'd you bench some coach? Here? Just sounds uncomfortable,
does he not? He just sounds like a guy that
does have no clue what's going on. Yeah, I know
you're miserable right now because you're owing. Well they own
seven right now. Yeah, it's just I get it. But
at the you're not getting smoked. You're not getting put
(01:44:59):
in a body back like the Raiders are being put
in or the Dolphins are being point in right now,
the very least, you're competitive in these games. But they
got to figure something out offensively. Another team that kind
of swung and miss in the free agent market, and
I bet you look back and there's probably endless amounts
of tweets from people saying, what a great job all
Justin Fields needs is an opportunity. Well, it's not working.
Speaker 3 (01:45:22):
Maybe Aaron Rodgers didn't play that bad when he played
for the.
Speaker 2 (01:45:25):
Yeah, I know, everyone wants to everyone wants to blame
all the problems that Jets had on Aaron Rodgers. Now
you look back, maybe that's not necessarily the games exactly.
All right? One final update tonight from Steve to Sager.
Here he comes with what's trending? What's going on? Steve? Hello?
Speaker 8 (01:45:39):
And by the way, the Dolphins assistant Daryl Bevill is
former Wisconsin Badgers quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:45:44):
I told you quarterback, Yes, I told you.
Speaker 8 (01:45:47):
I don't believe he ever worked for them, but I
was at I said, the former Wisconsin God. Yeah, first
ever Wisconsin Rose Bull victory was with Darryl Bevell at
I believe, age twenty four at quarterback. They had never
in bed, he had a two year mission. And then yeah,
they had not even been to a Rose Bowl in thirty.
Speaker 4 (01:46:07):
Years and wound up winning that.
Speaker 8 (01:46:09):
And by the way, the reason the Kansas City Chiefs
are at the moment out of the AFC playoff picture
is because they've lost head to head to both Jacksonville
and the Chargers, the two other teams that are also
four and three at the moment. The team that would
get the first round by in the AFC best team,
the Colts not only six and one, They're five and
(01:46:30):
zero in conference to start the season, so that might
come in handy for some tiebreakers down the road. The
Sunday night game in the Bay Area went to San Francisco,
a five and two team now beat Atlanta twenty to ten,
and Christian McCaffrey accounted for over sixty percent of the
yards from scrimmage for this team, the highest percentage by
any one player this season in an NFL game. Christian
(01:46:54):
McCaffrey had two touchdown runs. He had seven catches as well.
Atlanta's three and three Bejon Robin one TD reception, but
he had fourteen carries just forty yards. Rushing tight End
George Kittle did return for the Niners after the torn
hamstring on opening Day, no receptions. Quarterback Brock Purdy was
out again with the toe injury. He had been limited
in practice all week. Another win for mac Jones by
(01:47:17):
the way. Wide receiver Ricky Piersoll was out with a
knee injury. You mentioned the London game Matthew Stafford tying
a career high with five touchdown passes, three of them
were to DeVante Adams. Wide receiver Pukin Naku was out
this weekend with a bad ankle, but the Rams beat
Jacksonville in the rain in London thirty five seven and
Trevor Lawrence was sacked seven times. He had nearly three
(01:47:39):
hundred yards passing in a touchdown, but he felt the pressure.
Let's say that Kansas City thirty one nothing over a
Las Vegas team.
Speaker 4 (01:47:46):
That's two and five.
Speaker 8 (01:47:47):
Now the Chiefs Rashi Rice with two touchdown receptions back
from suspension. He only had sixteen routes but was targeted
ten times in this game. And it's another victory for
Patrick mahone Holmes. Amazingly, this guy just turned thirty. He's
broken a Peyton Manning record most wins by a player
age thirty or less. This is ninety three career wins
(01:48:11):
in the regular season for Patrick Mahomes. Peyton Manning had
ninety two at this point of his career. We had
a Chicago win over New Orleans Bears. Keep scoring this year?
What's going on? Twenty six to fourteen in the final.
DeAndre Swift nineteen carries one hundred and twenty four yards
in a TD. The Philadelphia game was a win at
Minnesota twenty eight twenty two as Jalen Hurts had over
(01:48:34):
three hundred yards passing, three touchdowns and a perfect passer rating.
Devonte Smith nine catches one hundred and eighty three yards
in a score a very happy aj Brown had two
touchdowns for his four receptions one hundred and twenty one yards.
Vikings in red zone tds one of six, had a
couple turnovers, including a pick six. You mentioned Carson Wentz
(01:48:55):
threw for over three hundred yards but two interceptions as well.
JJ McCarthy's still out with a back ankle. It was
New England winners at four straight, winning at Tennessee thirty
one to thirteen, Titans one and six. Cleveland beat Miami
thirty one six. Miami won and six. The Browns had
been one and five but dominated this one. Dolphins with
four turnovers, including three interceptions from quarterback to a tongue
(01:49:18):
Bailow he has ten this year. Miami with eleven penalties
for over one hundred yards. Carolina's defense with six sacks
in a win at the Jets thirteen to six. Panthers
only had five sacks total in the first six game.
They get to play the Jets and it's one after another.
The Jets are zero to seven. Quarterback Justin Fields was
benched at halftime to Rod Taylor through two interceptions. Wide
(01:49:38):
receiver Garrett Wilson was out with a knee injury. By
the way, Carolina quarterback Bryce Young left with an ankle injury.
Washington QB Jadeen Daniels left with a hamstring injury MRI
on Monday, Commanders were already missing their top three wide receivers,
all injured. Dallas beat Washington forty four to twenty two.
Dak Press got three more touchdown passes. There were twenty
(01:50:00):
one total penalties in this game. Ceedee Lamb was back
over one hundred yards receiving he'd had the ankle injury.
Green Bay won at Arizona twenty seven to twenty three.
Kyler Murray was still out with the foot injury. Marvin
Harrison two catches fifty eight yards, but a touchdown with
under two minutes to go gets the Packers a win.
Colts are six and one best in the league thirty
eight to twenty four the final at the Chargers. Justin Herbert, though,
(01:50:24):
had another three hundred yard passing game. This is already
