Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
No, let's go, stick and genius, So big boy, let's go,
let's go.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
Got a fun night, got a lot going on.
Speaker 4 (00:11):
Looks like, as de Segur just said, this is and
as you like to say, ov er over, the Warriors
will advance for a second round matchup with the Timberwolves.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Yeah it's done so on that one.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
Yeah yeah, what uh? I gotta call foulon that ninety fours.
I've gotten ninety four to seventy nine. I think my
feed's a little bit behind. I had to go to
the computer to keep up with everything. I've got the uh,
Warriors and Rockets on one laptop. I've got the Blues
and the Winnipeg Jets on another laptop.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
I got that on my screen. I got rid of
the basketball game once again up that one.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
Well, okay, now I guess we can get rid of
the basketball game on the main screen.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
Well, you'll know by our reaction if something happens in
this incredible game seven. They're in double overtime. I missed
the game tying goal by Winnipeg Ian Roddy was giving
me the recap our producer Mary Mack running the show
and of course, you know the true star of this program,
Steve to Sega on updates of course, But my goodness, Arnie,
a game tying goal in the final minute of regulation.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
Unbelievable final two one second final two seconds, one point
seven seconds left or the like.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
How the Oilers just sucked the life out of the Kings.
That's exactly what happened there. It was about to be
three to one Kings, Edmonton scores a goal with like
twenty seconds left, go to overtime, win it. Next thing,
you know, it's a two to two series and it's over.
So we'll see I can carry them on minim.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yeah, see how long this one goes? I mean, they're
almost done with the with the second overtime, there's about
less than eight minutes left and this still.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
I mean, I mean, that's a lot of time left
in an overtime. What't you say in hockey?
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yeah, I'd like to see a triple overtime though, Man,
I want to see the third one.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
You don't care about either one of these teams? Why,
I just like.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
To see it go further. Wow, I want to see
if we.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Have something live during the show to know exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Well, let's react to just the finish moments ago Golden State.
I loved what Ephraim said with Mark willa to right
before us. He said, Golden State looks like a veteran
team that's starting to pull away. Now, Unfortunately for some
veteran teams, I'm looking at you, Lake Show, you look
tired and wore out down the stretch and like you
can't get anything done. Golden State areny down the stretch,
(02:24):
even though Draymond Green took some really dumb shots. But
if you can look past that to take a younger
team and look that much more ready for the moment,
which the Warriors obviously are with their experience. But then look,
dare I say fresher down the stretch.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
I've been pretty impressed without Golden State is just absolutely
pulled away from Houston and made this a no doubt
or one sided affair.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Well, Buddy Hill had the game of his life. I
don't think he's ever had a game like that before,
even if was in grade school. The guy has just
stop it. Oh, come on, now, he's shooting the lights side.
It's crazy.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Well, he's been doing that in these in this series.
Outside of the last two games.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
He's nine to eleven from three point range.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
That's what he usually does when he's given the ball
more and in the last two games. That's why I
think Buddy Hill might be the key for the Warriors.
In the last two games, aren't he He was two of
ten from the floor in zero to six, zero for
six from behind the three point line. In games three
and four, he had thirty two points combined and was
eight of twenty from beyond the three point line and
twelve to twenty eight from the field. When he's hitting shots,
(03:29):
it opens everything up. And uh, he's been incredible.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
And step out a bad first half too. I mean
he was horrible in the first half. If you would
have told me that Stephan away what was it five
points or something like that, and they would still be
winning the game. To get out of here, they're they're
gonna get clovered. That's not going to be sustainable in
the second half. But the Rockets just fell apart Man
Golden State they did. They look fresher, and you know what,
(03:54):
they had four guys that helped them out. The Lakers
don't have four guys that are going to help him
out in certain times Lakers got to do something, that's
for sure.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Well, with that in mind, we have a great controversy
in the Roman numeral rundown tonight.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Are you even aware of this?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
No, I am not aware of any controversy.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
There's a major controversy, arn'tie because you have two number
fives on the Roman numeral rundown.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Wait wait wait, wait wait wait, you're right I screwed up.
So instead of having fourteen Roman numerals, we really have
fifteen Roman numerals.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
I go through it every single day he sends it,
and it's funned up because it was sent at four
a show that is at ten o'clock at night. It
was sent at nine o'clock in the morning, which again
still makes zero sense to me. But two number fives
and a lot there on the Lakers. You got JJ Reddick,
you got Lebron James. I mean, are we going for
(04:48):
the low hanging fruit tonight? Are we going to talk
about that NonStop?
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Or what?
Speaker 5 (04:51):
No?
Speaker 2 (04:51):
I mean there's other stuff also, But I just want
to know what you would think about the Lakers now
that third done a lot of speculation, whereas John's gonna
go even though I don't think the Lakers are in
the running to get Giannis. To be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Why, I mean, how could they be? What are you
gonna trade for them?
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah? Well they're good looks. I mean they really have
nobody to give them. To be honest, there's so many
there's like three or four teams that could give so
much more than than the Lakers. Jonas would have to
figure it out somehow on his own. But no, it's
not gonna work out. I all have to go ahead
and go somewhere else.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
It is a final, by the way, in Houston, one
oh three eighty nine is the final score you had
already mentioned. Big night for Buddy Heel nine to eleven
from beyond the three point line. Buddy finished with thirty
three points, twenty two from Steph Curry, twenty from Jimmy Butler,
Draymond Green and Green and double digits with sixteen Houston.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
What goal ball game?
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Yep?
Speaker 3 (05:48):
And hold on, I'm a little bit behind.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
You.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Don't spoil it. Don't tell me who don't tell Oh,
the Winnipeg Jets win, You don't get your triple over time.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
There you go.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
I was I had it in one of my windows
and it was a little little bit delayed. And as
soon as I clicked over there you go season over
for the Blues. The Jets roll on and it is
a party in Winnipeg right now. Holy what a scene, man,
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
That is crazy. I love it. I love it with's
let's see you gotta remember.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
I mean I I grew up as someone who loved
the Winnipeg Jets because of Timuslani and then out of
nowhere they moved to like Atlanta. It's like wait what
and then they just yeah, and then they just totally
completely dissolved and you're like, wait a minute, what's going
on here? And now that they're back, pretty good team.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
What a win? What an atmosphere?
Speaker 6 (06:40):
Man?
Speaker 3 (06:40):
They love their Jets in Winnipeg, and that's big time.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Man. My wife went to one of the one of
their games when they played the Canadians up in Montreal,
so she had a blast. It's just incredible how much
they love it up there. There's no doubt. Oh let
me see here.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
What were the uh what was the window there between
times whenever they well, I was gonna say whenever they
actually won a series. The last time the Winnipeg Jets
won a series. Okay, they won a series in twenty
twenty when they beat the Edmonton Oilers. But this is
only their how long have they been back since? Oh
(07:15):
Jesus since twenty eleven? This is only since the return
of the Winnipeg Jets, aren't he This is only their
third playoff.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Series win in fourteen years? Wow? Pretty wild man, that's
not bad at all.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
Did I do all that math and they just shot
the graphic up on TV or something?
Speaker 2 (07:32):
No? No, no, not at all. No. No.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Well, so if you guys want to dive into it tonight,
that's where X is. That's where Twitter is. To take
part at stinking Genius one. I'm at Plank Show. Everyone
go follow us at Fox Sports Radio. And as everyone
who even watches thirty seconds of hockey says, now starts
one of the greatest traditions, the post game handshake. Now
I would imagine post series handshake, I should say, I
(07:56):
would imagine you hate this because you don't like sportsmanship.
You know, these guys should still be fighting.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
I still like the handshake. I'm not picking the sportsmanship. Usually,
when I played basketball and my team wins, I just
walk off the court. I don't say good game. Or
anything like that. I just say next, you know, because
I just want to rub it in. But no, I'm not.
I'm not much been the sportsmanship, to be honest with you.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
All right, Well, since since we got off kilter with
the double road, by.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
The way, I see that you're burying the lead. Something
very big happened today, and I see that you're burying
the lead.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Well, what is is the boxing that's going on?
Speaker 2 (08:28):
The boxing?
Speaker 4 (08:29):
I don't know. You tell me I'm bearing the lead?
What's the lead today? That the Cavaliers win.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
We have, Well, they're there, Indiana. Winning Game one means
the Cavaliers are gonna have to struggle through seven games,
which means it's easier for the Knicks to get to
the NBA Championship. What go wrong with your come on now?
I mean, I didn't know.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
I didn't realize that this had obviously set the path
for of course your Knicks going for it because we
don't umber Rundown because you send it before the freaking
game even start.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
So how would I know that that's the biggest story?
Speaker 2 (09:03):
That's true, I did send it before, but I did
added to my roman numeral rundowns.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
So one twenty one, one to twelve.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
Well, Pacers go on the road and beat the Cleveland
Cavaliers in Game one in a game that honestly, you
kind of kept waiting for the Cavs to pull away
and kept waiting for him to pull away and never happened.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
Kept charging, they kept charging. And I got to give
in the adda credit because every time Cleveland got there
or took like a one point leader or something like that,
they came up with a big shot. How Burton came
up with a good a couple of good defensive plays.
They they hunked off and they got Game one. And
now that sets the whole tone for this series. It
changes everything.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Up now well, I mean, in fairness, if Cleveland goes
and wins Game three, it kind of, you know, changes
the whole dynamic once again, because if they take a
road game, then you can still win this thing in five.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
I still got to get the through Game two. Let's
worry about game two before we worry about Game three.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
All five starters and figures for the Indiana Pacers.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
How about that?
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Yeah, that's that's balance that you don't see very often.
So you have taken this as a sign that your
knicks path, just Scott Easy.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
I am so pumped up for the Nicks in Boston.
I'm thinking about going down there to get a go
see the game. You know that, don't you, Chris. I mean,
they play in Boston, and I don't want to go
to Boston, but I would like to go to the
Garden and sit with the fans out there. I'm sure
the tickets are gonna be. Do we have a producer tonight?
Did you say we have a producer?
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Yes, I have a producer. You've with him earlier.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
Yeah, have the producer find out how much tickets would
be for a Game three in New York because that's
the first game, and see, I'm they would be I
would like to go to it if Plank asked me.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
You know.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Now here's here's what's terrible about it.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
I literally just googled New York Knick Game three tickets.
You could do the same thing, Arnie and have them
in like twelve.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Working right now? What do you do? You know who
I am. You're not even gonna go to the game.
Speaker 4 (10:56):
Yeah, I know that's what Uh starting at three hundred
seventy seven dollars from two.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Hundred dollars, I'm not going to go to the game.
Aren't you the boss?
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Come on now, I thought you ran this thing.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Man. See, I don't want to seats. I don't want
to go for press box because you can't be the
boss and be broke, right right, But I don't want to,
you know, I don't want to be sitting in the
press box and you're not cheer and be quiet. I
want to sit with the fans, the New Yorkers, New
York at the press box. You can't cheer them. You
can't share the throw out.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Yeah, it's a rule three hundred and eighty three dollars
according to Vivid Seats.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
But that's the worst seats, you know. I need good seats.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Okay, eleven hundred and seventeen dollars.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Now you're talking. Now you're talking.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
And there's still some court side seats available here for
around nine thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Is that next to Spike?
Speaker 3 (11:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
I don't know. I would like to sit next to
Spike at a game.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
I'm sure he would thoroughly enjoy that. Yeah, here you go,
Row three two tickets thirteen one hundred and twenty.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
I don't think if my wife's gonna let me spend that.
I don't know if my credit card what it would
even call me. I want those two.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
Hey, you know what you always complain about, you know,
having to drive and things of that nature. You spend
that much on tickets, they might come pick you up
and take you to the game.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
So I mean just to pick me up at a limo
there you go.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Hey, we need to make sure you get here. Mister
span you're so your confidence is high here, huh.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
I just want you. That's so ridiculous because they priced
the average fan out. They really do. That's why the
atmosphere is not as electric like in Los Angeles, and
they were complaining about the same thing in New York.
The regular fans, you know, the ones that you see
outside the Madison Square garden where they're behind the barrier
(12:44):
on the street. Those are the real fans, real fan
that's yeah, we're the real fans. I love to have
that place packed with people like us.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
I love how you somehow took the Calves losing and
have turned that into now the Knicks, who haven't even
played the game, having a smoother path towards the towards
the West Eastern Conference Finals.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I feel really, really good actually about to smoother path
towards the NBA Finals. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I feel really
good of the Knicks getting by Boston. I mean, it's
gonna be a tough series, but I I feel and
I know we were rowing four against them, a one
game win in overtime, but I think, you know, I
think they're a little bit worned down. Also, even though
(13:26):
they had a longer rest that we did. The Knicks
looks so good in their last game. If they play
like that, Celtics can't take them. No way, not gonna
happen if they.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Not at all, not a chance, not even Jalen Brown
getting out there in zero zero. So we don't even
need to talk about this series and then coming up, well.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Yes we do. I mean it's gonna be a it'll
be a battle. We're gonna have to see, we're gonna
have to get physical. We have to knock him around
a little bit. Boston's a pretty physical team. I think
they can play that way if necessary, Let's do it.
I think they've shown that. Where is the biggest advantage
then for the New York Knicks Arnie Spaniard, I didn't
think Boston. I think they have they have four different scores,
(14:10):
five different scorers. They can if they all come upon.
Look what they did in their last game and how
many guys came through. If they do that again, like
I said, they can keep up with Boston. Look, Boston
shoots the three like crazy, and they're not gonna be
able to match Boston from the three points from the
three point line, so they're gonna have to play three
point defense. The Knicks are not very good in their
(14:30):
three point defense. That's what I'm worried about. So they're
gonna have to make sure they get in the hand
and they'll give them free shots out there. Oh my gosh,
that's a great there. There you go.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
The perimeter d for the New York Knicks has got
to be better. Are you worried about?
Speaker 2 (14:44):
Almost? Bad? You know, I just have nightmares of Pritchard
just standing out there at the three point line burying us.
And you just can't have that. You just can't allow that,
do you know?
Speaker 4 (14:54):
And again, you're a Knicks fan. You're one of I
think what three that we have on this network? You
Ja Smith and wait are you guys? The only two
right is Rot Parker Knicks fan?
Speaker 2 (15:04):
You no, no, no, But I'm I'm the real Knicks fan. Okay,
so you're the real Knicks fan.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
I'm from the Bronx, New York, right, right.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
But fortunately, our two Knicks fans hold very high profile
time slots in this network, and I feel like it's
all we hear about. So I feel like I hear
about you guys getting your heart's broken a lot. And
even though you lose a lot of game, it's a
lot of games.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
It's still as if you don't Nicks you Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
So with that in mind, wouldn't it be just perfect
in the recent history of the Knicks to have Christap
porzingis just to go off in this series?
Speaker 6 (15:37):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Why would that be perfect? First of all, that guy
is so worn down. He's like the last person I'm
worried about. I thought that guy retires. Is he still playing? Well?
Did you have you watched the Yes? I know, I
know he's He only had nine points last game. I
believe our well, he averaged twenty four and a half points. Yeah,
good luck.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
He shot fifty percent from the field forty five percent
from three and two games against the Knicks this season.
That's not bad. That was his highest average against any
team he faced. Most multiple times this year.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Yeah, we didn't have good good luck against them in
three of the four games. I don't know what happened
when we didn't have luck against any of the top
teams that were in the Oklahoma City, Cleveland, Boston. But
things change in the playoffs. Things are a little bit different.
They're letting you go and they're not calling every tickie
tack foul. All of a sudden, Brunson doesn't have three
fouls with one minute left in the first quarter and
(16:30):
he got a zip for all half. That's not happening anymore. Well,
I mean, it didn't happen in that series.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
And by the way, you complaining about letting people play
is rich. It's just rich with how Jalen Brunson plays
because nobody takes advantage of getting a guy up in
the air and then jumping into him.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
I mean, it's like card he'd circa twenty twenty five man.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
He doesn't lift them up, he doesn't hear then me
lift jumping, throw you on time.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
In my back, and then he jumps into him when
they're jumping straight up, and.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
I love it. That's that's the that's what you should
be doing out there for goodness sake. I love that move.
Well when we don't bother me, I don't like to
flop or flop. You get lost, man, go get lost
to Troy. I love what he does and stuff like that.
That's what you should be doing. That's what you should do.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Well, it's okay, Well let's see how you like it.
Whenever Jason Tatum does it to you. I can't wait
for you to be You know what I can't waiting
about number fifty four and the officials cheating you.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
You know what I can't wait for's a I can't
wait for the end of the show. I'm going to
tell you right now. Here's my prediction right off the
are news picks right now? Nicks win Game one. I
don't want the points. I don't need the points. I'm
not taking the points. Nicks win Game one and they
win the series. How about that my prediction off the bat.
Don't have to wait till the end of the show.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
Oh that's great. Does that mean we get to go
home now? Wow, we're done. It's over mallor.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Point nine points spread. You don't want the points, you
don't need the points.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Nine points that's so ridiculous. I mean gosh, I should
put a lot of money on the knixt plus nine.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
Like yours, Thunder are dying in half point favorites right now.
Over the Denver Nuggets, they'll probably be thirty.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Nuggets are overmatched, absolutely overmatched. They have no shot in
this series, just like Boston. See, I'm going to adopt
your mindset when it comes to the Thunder. I'm just
gonna be as obnoxious about Oklahoma City as you are
about New York. How's that sound. I'm just gonna become
over the top obnoxious about it.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
I already told you if I called them Oklahoma City sooners,
half the people would have no idea that that's not
even their name.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
That's right, and a lot of people thought that the
Knicks shut things down a while back, so that they've
been irrelevant for so long.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
Wow, winning's awesome.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Don't be don't hate the messenger, don't belave.
Speaker 4 (18:43):
Listen just I don't want you to get heartbroken. Whenever
we're back here in a week and your team's down, Well,
will they have played two games by then?
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Half for our listeners are saying, does Oklahoma City have
a team? I didn't know that.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
Well, I can guarantee you half of our listeners are
not saying that because they've been introduced him in watching
the NBA for the better part of the last twenty years,
unlike you. All Right, when we come back, let's dive
into the double Roman numeral. Let's see what Arnie was
trying to get at with his frustration with both Lebron
and JJ Redick.

You know, Arnie, I'm doing this show on Friday nights
now into Saturday morning in Bernie's old time slot, now
that Bernie's just doing one night a week, and one
of the videos in the Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel
really caught my attention. I thought it was a really
good point. You know, Greg Popovich retired this week. I
(20:05):
guess elevated up to a team president, but didn't look
like he was gonna be able to coach anymore. Did
you hear our man from the Odd Couple, Rod Parker's
take on Greg Popovich's.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
No, I didn't. I didn't hear what he had to say.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
Tell me we can find it on the YouTube channel.
If you don't want to hear the rest of what
Rob Parker said, go to our YouTube jam no he said,
he said, Greg Popovic's lasting legacy is load management, and
while the championships are great, he's responsible for one of
(20:38):
the worst things to happen for fans and the worst
thing to really work for the NBA and its overall product.
And I gotta admit there's a lot of times where
I and I love Rob, I'll hear him say something
like that's that's kind of like the craziest thing I
think I've ever heard, like when he wanted Andy Reid
fired the Monday after the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
But that one got me thinking a little bit.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Are he because the way that he handled Duncan later
in his career and obviously through all the Kawhi stuff
and kind of the back and forth there. It's it
sucks that it worked, but it worked and it was brilliant.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Yeah, he wanted Kawhi to play Kawhi one that was
sitting out. He kept saying that Kawhi is healthy. Are
doctors are clearing him? So I'd like to hear what
Kawai has to say about He talked him up, he
said nice things about him. Okay, well, I mean he's beloved,
there's no doubt about it. I mean, he'll he's out
in the mountain Rushmore. I'm not gonna do that, but
he's certainly on the mount Rushmore. He never went back
(21:34):
to back titles, but he certainly had two Hall of
Famers that carried him to what four titles? Was it
Chris I believe?
Speaker 3 (21:43):
What for Greg Popovich?
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Or was it five? Greg Papovich won five championships? Okay, sorry,
I didn't mean.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
Well, you're you're dumping on him already. You start this
staying where you just Papa. He didn't he didn't win
with that good players. Well, no one did.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
But you do have to look at the whole You
know everything about him, and you know you do think
about his snarkiness at those sure and the Quarter interviews
and then you know, getting political towards the end of
his you know, coaching career, and I'm wondering if that's gonna,
you know, hold a stain against him. And when it's
all said, probably not. People remember all the wins out there,
(22:19):
but he's certainly a mount Rushmore coach.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Know not about that.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
But what do you think of Rob though? Is that
a lasting legacy two for him? That he kind of
created a load management? No, I don't think so, to
be honest with you, like, I mean, it could.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
I don't think anybody's saying, oh, that Greg Pop But
that's not the top five things that come to mind
when I think about Greg Popovich. So I'm gonna have
to disagree with Rob on that.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
I hadn't even really thought of it, but when Rob
brought it up, it was one of those moments You're like,
that does kind of suck to that work.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
As well as it did? Right?
Speaker 4 (22:50):
Right, because I mean, everybody's doing it now, but honors
pouring in for Pop as he retired. I don't know
how severe his his stroke was, but it seems like
it's enough on he where's taking him some time to recover.
And one other thing too, this before de Sega rolls
in with the game seven recaps, including that incredible finish
in Winnipeg tonight. Were you surprised to see they just
(23:13):
elevated Mitch Johnson and didn't maybe open up a search?
Speaker 2 (23:17):
I know there's a lot of teams on it going
with assistance right and not elevating people, not going with
anybody outside. It's like a trend. It seems like, doesn't
it or.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
What I mean this is this is the first one
is did Memphis go ahead and eli? Yeah, Memphis elevated
their guy. We'll see what Denver decides to do.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
I mean, if Denver beats Thunder, then yeah, absolutely, but
we know that's not happening.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
I just I thought that there was I thought that
there was a chance with that talent, right, Stephen Castle,
what we think Victor wimbin Yama is gonna be h
dearon Fox?
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Are gonna have a top ten pick most likely this shot?
Speaker 4 (23:53):
I don't know. You know, we'll see. Maybe maybe Mitch
Johnson gets a leg up because he was there already.
But just don't felt like you could go out and
get just about anyone to coach that job right with
that roster, but they decided to go with the guy
that was there. So maybe that's going to become a
new trend and we'll see more teams do it.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
You know, our producer set those four places that Giannis
could go, and I believe San Antonio was one of
the landing spots that he could end up and that
would be a good fit for him down there for sure,
depending on what you got to give up though, Yes, absolutely,
of course, of course.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
Well we'll dive in it out as the show rolls on,
because I think that's a fascinating storyline that's going to
dominate a lot of our NBA off season talk. But
we got games, Arnie, we got games, And so before
we dive into all things related to the Lakers, which
aren't playing games, Steve de Seger has the updates about
what's going on, what's going.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
On working tonight about that dud go get that.
Speaker 5 (24:48):
There we go, Hello, ladies.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
I'm sorry, hit yond button hit the.
Speaker 5 (24:52):
Butt Winnipeg with a Game seven win. By the way, Chris,
Winnipeg got a team back as it Relo located from
Atlanta over a decade ago, the original Winnipeg Jets moved
two Phoenix and traded the great Tamuslani I think the
year before they moved to Anaheim for a third rounder
(25:13):
and two players. There you go, the guy that wound
up in the Hall of Fame and is parenthetically one
of the nicest superstars I have ever covered in my life.
The guy wound up with almost seven hundred career goals
and over seven hundred assists. Why you trade a guy
like that beyond me? Anyway, the Winnipeg Jets. These Jets
(25:35):
won in double overtime against Saint Louis tonight, four to three.
This was the first Game seven in hockey to go
double ot since twenty nineteen, and eventually it ends as
one of the longest game sevens ever.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
You see, the Jets.
Speaker 5 (25:49):
Kept it going, tying the game with two seconds left
in regulation, and eventually four to three in double ot.
The final still the longest overtime Islands Islanders with Pat
Lafontaine when Washington nineteen eighty seven.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
Look at me, look at me. That was not.
Speaker 5 (26:05):
Only sixty minutes of regulation, that was over sixty minutes
of overtimes. On top of that, there was also a
nineteen thirty nine game that was one hundred and eight
minutes total. This would be number three I guess over
ninety minutes total of hockey tonight. But Winnipeg does advance
and they'll be playing Dallas in the second round. The
Jets host game one on Wednesday. Golden State starts a
(26:28):
conference semifinal at Minnesota on Tuesday. The Warriors with an
elimination of the Rockets again one oh three eighty nine.
I know these Rockets are very young, probably don't know
this history, but the Rockets franchise has been eliminated by
Golden State before. Let's just leave it at that. We'll
get into details later. Buddy healed with thirty three points
(26:50):
from three point range. He was nine of eleven. Warriors
won at Houston one oh three eighty nine in a
game seven to end the first round. Indiana today opened
the second round with a victory at top seed Cleveland,
won twenty one to one twelve Pacers had trailed with
six and a half minutes to go. A reminder, Boston
host New York on Monday to begin a second round series.
(27:11):
Celtics guard Drew Holliday is due to return after a
strain Hamstring. Scottie Scheffler won by eight strokes in Texas
in a record tying thirty one under par this weekend.
His four rounds, he shot sixty one on Thursday, then
a sixty three, sixty six on Saturday, and a final
round sixty three. He is ranked number one in the
(27:31):
world still and he captures his home area event. The
Byron Nelson Live Golf was in South Korea. Bryson Deshamba
won it by two strokes. He also took home the
team title for extra money for the weekend. The LPGA
winner hey Ron Roue in Utah, where that tour had
not played in over sixty years. Naomi Osaka won her
first WTA tennis title since the twenty twenty one Australian Open.
(27:53):
She took a French Open tune up. She's back into
the top fifty in the world rankings. Joey Logano won
the NASCAR at Texas. Ross Chastain finished second baseball at
Atlanta tonight. The Braves edge the Dodgers four to two.
LA's seven game winning streak is over Austin Riley with
two two run homers. The loss to Dustin May Saint
Louis swept the Mets six to five in the first game,
(28:15):
five to four in the nightcap. This after a rainout
on Saturday. Ryan Helsley with a save in the opener
Texas and Jacob de gram ex Met beats Seattle eight
to one to Grom went five innings. San Francisco over
Colorado nine three. The Rockies on the road this year
two and seventeen, and the losing starter today, Herman Marquez,
(28:36):
is zero to six with an ERA of nine point
nine to zero out out. The Kansas City Chiefs signed
their late first round draft pick, tackled Josh Simmons, and
The Washington Post says Washington, DC will be hosting the
NFL Draft in twenty twenty seven. Announcement tomorrow that the
draft will be on the National Mall. That'll be quite
(28:57):
a sight. Of course. There have been recent news very
cool about the Commanders that plans are moving forward for
a new stadium for them in the future, and it
will be in Washington, DC.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Back to you with that, twenty twenty next year is
going to be wild in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
That's just gonna be insane.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
And then you go to to and especially if things
didn't going to Washington.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
If things keep trending up.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
Hey, Pittsburgh, the way things are going with your quarterback groom,
you could be sitting there like the top pick talking about.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
I mean, come on, are we.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Are we really doing this?
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Pittsburgh's quarterback groom is your boy Skylett Thompson, Mason Rudolph
and they drafted Will Howard.
Speaker 5 (29:36):
And Terry Hanratty. Don't forget Terry.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Yeah, that's right. Oh gosh, I was trying to come
up with another.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Mark Malone. Where's Bubby brister in that thing? We could
probably know this.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
We could do this all night long.
Speaker 5 (29:47):
Stout, I believe Cliffs Scout.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
Was, oh wow, he's going on that.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
Oh goodness, Ben Roethlisberger, that's too recent. But I mean,
Aaron Roch is gonna end up there, right, I mean,
this is just all okay.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
That was my Roman numeral number ten if you see
that right, well after.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
The Roman numeral eleven.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
Well, actually it's Roman numeral ten, but because you screwed
up the Roman numerals, it's actually Roman numeral eleven. Okay,
hold on.
Speaker 5 (30:14):
It's kind of like how on this Star Wars day.
The first Star Wars movie is actually the fourth Star
Wars movie.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
We were watching it. We were watching it before before
we came out for the show.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
My daughter, My daughter's all into it, like out of nowhere,
my sixteen. I wonder if she has some nerd boyfriend
that's trying to make her wow Star Wars or something.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
But yes, you do have this so real quick? Yeah,
before we get we get a time out here on
Fox Sports, right, and before we get caught up on
our necessary Lakers segment.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
Steelers Rogers is what Roman numeral Tin says. Yes, handshake deal.
I thought he had a handshake deal with Pittsburgh. Isn't
that what the rumors?
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Or did I fall for another fake account? And I
was fooled on that, But I thought that they were
saying Rogers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
I saw it too.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
No, you can fall for anything, Okay, I believe that they.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
I I guess the Steelers are also planning if he retires, because,
according to an Albert Breer report this week, yeah, the
Steelers still have a degree of uh let me let
me just read it so I don't try to like
bullet point it for you. There's this feeling that the
Steelers continue to have a degree of confidence that Rogers
(31:28):
will still play for them. However, with retirement still under consideration,
there's a belief that the team would explore a trade
for kirk Cousins if Rogers walked away. Okay, well, if
if you were Atlanta and they came calling for kirk
Cousins to be like, yeah, we need a number one pick,
we need a first round pick, but you're not You're
not gonna get you're not gonna get a second, and
(31:49):
you're not going to get a third. But I mean
it's still it's if they come knocking, right, you know
they're desperate because they've got nothing else in that room.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
Right, But I want to see Rogers. I mean I
would see Rogers playing and him and Tomlin get into it.
You know, that's gonna be like vinegar and oil.
Speaker 5 (32:06):
Man.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
It's it's it's uh, it's gonna kind of separate. There's
gonna be some fighting going on. I don't think it's
gonna be a great match. In having to be honest with.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
You, well, they've already got the disaster.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
Well disaster, you've already got both Pickens and DK Metcalf
in that receiver room, right, and you know There was
some reports that they might be looking to deal George Pickens,
but I don't know why you would do that. Still though,
Tommy Maddox isn't walking through that door, Mitch Trubisky isn't
walking through that door. Landry Jones is not walking through
(32:39):
that door. It might be good.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
You need to add any.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
Old skin somebody good. Come on, Dennis Dixon is not
walking through that door. I guess the bottom line, more
than anything else, are he It's it sounds like they're
putting all their eggs in the Aaron Rodgers basket, right,
And if Aaron can't go, then I think a Kirk
Cousins or Derek Carr comes into play first.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
Why do you think he's still thinking about retirement? If
he's going to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, what's holding
it up? What's the problem here? I think Pittsburgh's a
good place for him. I think it's a good team,
they got a good defense. It's a lot better situation
than he was with the New York Jets. So I
don't know why he has any hesitation in his mind
(33:18):
unless he just doesn't want to play anymore.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
And here we are. You just kind of answered Joane question.
We're trying to figure out what Aaron Rodgers is thinking,
and we have good luck on that one. But it's
really truly, I guess the last piece, the last puzzle
piece in the post of the offseason. I mean, obviously
there's some questions in New Orleans with what's going on
with Derek Carr's shoulder. You had Kirk Cousins into that mix.
(33:43):
But at the very least the Steeler excuse me, the
Saints went and drafted that forty year old man, Tyler
Shuck to be their quarterback if Carr can't go, So
at least there's a backup plan there. But man, the Steelers,
that's gonna be a a rod or bust. And like
I say this every single week, feel like something Ne's
happened pretty quick on that, but I just don't feel
(34:05):
like it's going.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
Don't they have that streak of five hundred or better
of going on. I think that's in jeopardy. Maybe this
year that could be in jeopardy.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
All right, Arnie's Arnie's so fired up about the end
of the Lakers season. He hasn't listed twice on the
Roman numeral rundown. Today we have a couple game sevens
that are in the bag already. Tonight, Golden State is advancing.
They beat the Rockets one oh three eighty nine, the
Winnipeg Jets and the Stanley Cup playoffs eliminated the Blues
after a goal with just seconds left in the third
(34:34):
period of force overtime. They went it in double overtime
and a shaka from the NBA earlier today, the Pacers
take Game one over the Cavs. Will react to it
all night with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
All right, Arnie and Plank, Let's get a couple of
your tweets in here at Stinking Genius One. I'm at
Plank Show. Everybody can check us out at Fox Sports Radio.
Some of you guys jumped on board Preller rights. How
can you forget Neil O'Donnell gimang. Mike tom Zach isn't
walking through that door even yeah him. Come on, well,
(35:14):
I think the seger said, Mike tom Zach, I did
drop Mark Malone, just so you know that. And uh
oh yeah, Colin Cordell Slash Stewart ain't walking through that door.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Yeah, you gotta brought him up earlier.
Speaker 7 (35:27):
Yeah, it's terrible on my thought. Terry Bradshaw though, well
that's too easy. Like I mentioned, but that's too easy.
You can't mention someone that's good, it's got to be
someone that's terrible. So I'd googled up starting Steeler.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Quarterbacks and then during the break I lost interest in it,
and then I saw your tweets on it, griddles MC
blackout rides.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
I think Ben Mallard said it, and I agree. Aaron
Rodgers is doing all this goofy offseason stuff, smoking whatever
mud huts he got ripped for signing with the Jets
then going I think he's getting it all out of
the way before he signed.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
That's a good point. He didn't think about that that way,
he can't get criticized, Oh we signed. He should be
looking at the playbook and working out with the receivers
and he's doing highahuasca or whatever the hell that is
and all that. Yeah, that's probably that's a good point.
He's probably right on that.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Uh, you know, I just will wait till the top
of the hour to get your Lakers stuff. Yeah, but
I keep, you know, thinking about how easy Minnesota seemed
to make it look like the Nuggets series was that
last year against the Lakers that I think it was
a five game series too. The Nugget series was ten
times better than the Timberwolve series. Lakers had one shot
(36:40):
to tie it. I think that was what game four.
I mean against the Nuggets last year, it was, oh,
there's a potential game winning shot.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
There's another one.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
They just missed it, Like the game came down to
the final shot three times that it happened against the Timberwolves,
aren't he They just got smoked in the series. So
before we think about it from a Lakers are you
buying any Minnesota stop going forward?
Speaker 2 (37:03):
Or no? I don't think they're gonna go after this.
But I did say that Jeff Schwartz. I was filled
in yesterday with Jeff and I said, you know, we
didn't give Minnesota enough credit for what they did against
the Lakers. There's always that the Lakers lost. The Lakers
think Lakers, this, Lakers that JJ Reddick, viz. But what
about Minnesota? What about what they did and the fact
that he did it in five games is truly remarkable.
(37:24):
I never saw that at me for sure.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
And then I wonder because I mean, it doesn't really
matter in the West because the Thunder are gonna win it.
Speaker 3 (37:33):
I do wonder if maybe it was.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
Just a matter of time before they were able to
put things together this year, And did they catch a
team that's a bad matchup for him? Lakers are a
good matchup form bad matchup for the Lakers. Lakers have
no bigs. You know, you got a couple there, especially,
you know, one of the better if it's a big
men in the league. Regardless of how you feel about
Rudy Gobert, he can flat out d up if necessary,
(37:56):
and he did, and he didn't really have anyone that
could that was near his.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
Yeah, but didn't Lakers get to a three seed without
a big guy? So now we're just making excuses for them.
If you're good enough to go ahead and be a
three season.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
You've been dumping on the regular season all year long.
You've been saying, well, how easy is the regular season?
If the Cavaliers and the Thunder are doing this, why
does it suddenly matter with where the Lakers were?
Speaker 2 (38:21):
No, but you still, I mean, there are good enough
to be a three seed. They shouldn't have gone down
like that. They were the favorite lost in the first,
they were the favorite in the in that series over Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
Well, the two seed just lost. Are you gonna sit
here and destroy the Rockets too.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
No, because you know that that doesn't seem as as
big as an upset because ever since that they got
Jimmy Butler, there are new teams, so they had to
come from behind and you know, work into that seventh slot.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
Well, well, every every.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Since the timber I don't want to say I'm not
trying to sound like a Laker apologies. I'm trying to
build up the Timberwolves here more than anything else, because
ever since they got healthy and every since they've been
a go.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
I mean, it's been been really good.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
I just I do I do not know, bottom line,
more than anything else, how the Lakers could look that
inept whenever you just throw a big man at him
like they did.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
Well, Reeves also was hurt too, I know what he was. Yeah,
I know a lot of people aren't talking about that.
Speaker 4 (39:26):
Did I say, Rudy Gay, I'm sorry, Rudy Gobert. Rudy Gobert.
If I said Rudy.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
Gayer, okay, go go get But yeah, Reeves was hurt
not obviously affected him. He had a bad series, bad
bad shooting series too. He was just a step slow
and everything you could tell something was bothering him. Yeah,
and you know it's it's again.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
It suddenly becomes this guy can't be a three alright,
Austin Reeves is terrible. He can be a part of
their big three. And I don't necessarily know if that's true.
I just don't know Arnie overall. If I don't know
if it's truly gonna work with Lebron taking this one
a role. Let's dive into that when we come back, right,
I get we had a game seven tonight, the Rockets
(40:12):
are out, we'll get an update from the saga, and
we'll dive into what it means going forward in the playoffs. Plus,
Arnie's Nicks apparently are going to the NBA Finals. He
has called it. Yeah you said it so mode at Beat. Yes,
we'll dive into it coming up next and Todd Furman
around the corner on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (40:31):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
We're rolling Arnie and Plank Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
I'm I'm gonna be off. I'm gonna be off in
two weeks. I get a day off. Good on you
deserve it. Go to the Dominican Republic. You've been there before,
never been, and we're going to one of those all
inclusive resorts where you could eat and drink until your
heart's desire.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
Nice, yeah, to try. We have the conversation about tipping there, right,
what'd you decide?
Speaker 2 (40:59):
I mean, yeah, you got a tip when you get
your food and you get your drinks. But my wife
is like, no, you know tip, it's all inclusive. I okay,
then you're gonna get bad liquor and people spitting in
your food if you do that.
Speaker 4 (41:13):
Is this one of those things that's been well, Is
this finally your prize from the family Feud or whatever
game show you were?
Speaker 2 (41:19):
No? No, no, we never We never went to our
our Micronesia as mic it was Micronesia.
Speaker 4 (41:28):
But so this is out some of you guys been
planning for a while. Popped up out of nowhere.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
Dripping, Yeah, really popped out. No, just popped up. My
wife's like, youat know they're selling stuff on Black Friday.
Why don't you make us a trip somewhere? So I
started looking you, Hey, this looks pretty good, all inclusive beaches, right,
sit around, get a tan do nothing I can go
for somebody. I've never been to an all inclusive resort,
(41:54):
so I'm one thing Like if I at midnight, can
I just say, hey, I want three meet pall sandwich
is sent to my room and.
Speaker 3 (42:01):
They close the kitchen. They'll close the kitchen.
Speaker 4 (42:05):
They'll they'll let you know, there'll be a time where
they'll shut it down because they've thought about people like you.
Speaker 3 (42:11):
But there'll still be places where you get food that.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
If I'm at the pool cauld I say I'll take
a keg of beer please, Well, I get you.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
It's it's the amount. Like they understand there's going to
be people, aren't he like this? You you sent me
down a rabbit hole the last time. What are you
going to bring? All inclusive?
Speaker 2 (42:29):
What are you going to bring you?
Speaker 1 (42:29):
Like?
Speaker 2 (42:30):
One little glass at a time? Pretty much? Do I
get like a six pack or something?
Speaker 4 (42:34):
You know, I don't think you get a six pack.
I don't think their goal is to get you destroyed.
I think their goal is just to keep you happy.
So you want to keep you ay, I got to
get a six pack.
Speaker 3 (42:43):
You might have to get up every now and then
get your own beverage.
Speaker 4 (42:46):
Is what I'm saying if you want to get the
service that you desire, I listen, Like I said, you
know I'm not in the tax bracket you are. I
don't get to go on all these all inclusive resorts.
I don't get Monday through Friday fillings.
Speaker 2 (42:56):
You do.
Speaker 3 (42:56):
So you'll have to go and tell me what that's like.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
I want to get some of those fruity drinks with
the umbrellas on it. You know what I mean, with
the with the fruit in it.
Speaker 3 (43:04):
You should book.
Speaker 4 (43:06):
Now, are you going to be staying in one place,
in one resort of you guys.
Speaker 2 (43:10):
One resort, one resort, that's it.
Speaker 4 (43:12):
What are you gonna do? Are you gonna drive your
wife crazy with all your takes? Because that could be
the Knicks like in the Eastern Conference finals.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
Well, well, I did you know what's right there with me?
You don't know what I have out there.
Speaker 4 (43:22):
I mean, I know there's casinos, but you could gamble
for free a sports book. You have a sports book
in your hand. You live in ver Mine, you know
right where you are.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
I love going to the sports book and you know,
yelling at the TVs with everybody, and that's the fun
part of it. So I'll go to the casino, the
sports book, hang out at the beach, get a tan,
you know how it is, have a good time.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
I'm excited for you, Arnie. That'll be fun. You've earned it.
Speaker 4 (43:47):
I just worry about Beth and how many times she's
gonna have to hear like a take or something that
is finished or over or done for a career whenever
someone loses it.
Speaker 2 (43:56):
Well, the Knicks wolf have gotten by the Celtics by then,
and we'll have probably just started beating up Indiana in
the Eastern Conference Finals.
Speaker 3 (44:05):
Just oh, so, now Indiana wins game one and that
series is over?
Speaker 2 (44:09):
Oh pretty much? Yeah, that's okay, right.
Speaker 3 (44:11):
Well, enjoy yourself.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
I was gonna ask you got to hang out with
a fellow Palisades.
Speaker 2 (44:16):
Alum on Saturday morning? Now?
Speaker 4 (44:18):
Was he as excited to be working? Was he as
excited as he should be? We're talking about Jeff Schwartz
to be working with a legendary Palisades alum like yourself.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
No, I don't think so. I think that just kind
of went over his head. But we did. We did
talk about Pally High and the good old days there.
Though he's a little bit younger than me.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
I think he's a lot a bit younger than you,
a little bit a little bit younger.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
So all the famous people that went to our high
school are all right around like type. You know, my years,
not so much his years. But no, we had a
lot of fun talking about it was. It was a blast.
We had a good time, and he was at you
up and ready to roll. I was surprised I didn't.
I told you'd be like it was, I'm tired, leave
(45:01):
me alone on this.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
You'd see the morning guy.
Speaker 2 (45:04):
Yeah he's a morning guy. But yeah, two former Pali
High boys. And yeah, the the school was like fifty
percent burn burned out in the fires out there. It's bad.
But yeah, I saw Steve Kerbman wore a Pali shirt
and all kinds of people were in Pali shirt. Something
did you like?
Speaker 4 (45:23):
For instance, do you share do you remember do you
remember mister so and so or.
Speaker 2 (45:28):
Yes, we talked about our drama teacher. Now I forget
her name, it will come to me. I ditched that class.
It was first period and I went to mort Stelli
to get something to eat, and when I looked over,
she was there too, So I'm like, oh, the teacher
is ditching class. Also, how about that. And then we
talked about the funny part is our most famous teacher
(45:50):
is Rose Gilbert, Sam Gilbert's wife. You remember Sam Gilbert,
don't you. Sam Gilbert. He was the guy that would
fund funnel money to UCLA back in the day.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
Oh yeah, he kind of kind of looks like Pete
Carill right.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
Yeah, yeah, he was the guy funneling money. Passed away
a long time ago. So she inherited all the money
and built an Olympic sized swimming pool with all that
money for Palli High. Huh.
Speaker 3 (46:16):
I thought you meant in her backyard.
Speaker 2 (46:18):
No, no Olympics for Palli Hi. I gave them because
she's like, I'm not you know, this is like, you know,
blood money. So she she did that. And and by
the way, Abrams, uh the director, the.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
Max Abrams, not Matt Sorry, yeah.
Speaker 2 (46:36):
He when he wrote Star Wars. One of the characters
in Star Wars is uh copied after the teacher Rose
Gilbert with her big glasses. So you'll if you googled
her name, Rose Gilbert plus Star Wars, you'll see how
they they look like. The teacher had big glasses, and
(46:57):
one of the characters in Star Wars looks so little
like er. So that was that was because of her.
Speaker 3 (47:02):
It was the character mos Kanada.
Speaker 2 (47:07):
Yeah it helps.
Speaker 4 (47:08):
Yeah, okay, I'm sorry. I'm not gonna go down the road.
I see what you're saying. All right, Well, I'm glad
you guys have fun out. But nature Boy brings up
an interesting point. He writes, I think Jeff Schwartz thought
you were mad Dog. Yeah, that Jeff Schwartz thought you
were Christopher Russo he did call me Chris a couple.
Speaker 2 (47:22):
Of times, so that that could have been. You could
be right on that. He because mad Dog you're the best.
So I I guess it happens everything.
Speaker 4 (47:30):
And so then I was confused because just to get
all of our weekend fun out of the way, I
noticed that Jared Smith was on too.
Speaker 3 (47:37):
But that was what a completely different show that you
did with him.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
No, it was it was whatever we wanted to do.
I don't okay, But when you have a gambler on,
I always have to, you know, do the degenerate stuff
and like how much did you make here? And what's
your biggest laws? And you know, you always want to
hear about gamblers in Vegas and how they live, and
you know, does your wife know how much you gamble
and does she follow along? I think there should be
(48:02):
a TV show, the Real Housewives of Gamblers of Las
Vegas and see how they handle it. I think that
would be fantastic.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
Oh my gosh, I couldn't.
Speaker 4 (48:10):
I couldn't do that show because I wouldn't be able
to tell my wife that I was gambling.
Speaker 3 (48:15):
So she boy, that might even be a better show, right.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
Could you imagine some of some of the wives you
know following along? I bet you most of them don't
even know how much has been on a game.
Speaker 4 (48:27):
No way, there's no way that they do well. Hey,
I'm glad I listen. I gotta tell you because I
love Obviously, we've done a show together for the better
part of what almost almost eleven years now.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
Maybe maybe truly you keep adding numbers to it. Jeff
and I.
Speaker 4 (48:42):
I get to work a lot with Jeff, and I
thoroughly enjoy every second I get with him, So it
was really cool to see. I kind of felt left out,
to be honest with you, but I did have this
show before you.
Speaker 3 (48:54):
Yeah, dude, what by the way, okay, one find what
time did you get up for that show? It's six
East and right our eastern five eastern.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
So I got up at like three forty five, an
hour and fifteen minutes early. Why is that too early
to get on?
Speaker 3 (49:08):
No, I just I was surprised to start seeing text
from you that early.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
It was it was nice. Yeah, I mean that that's
about enough time to get like fifteen twenty minutes to
get a cup of coffee, get downstairs, get to get
everything settled up, and then get ready to go. So yeah,
that's that's not too bad. Three forty five. I got
to get some sleep for crying out loud.
Speaker 3 (49:28):
Well, I mean three forty five when you went on
the air at five though, I mean that's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
Right, Yeah, yeah, I mean I had to go to
bed a little bit earlier.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
Well, I I sample listened.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
It was a blast.
Speaker 4 (49:38):
And by the way, if you missed it, it's available
on the Iheard radio app where you can download podcast
or however you consume podcasts. You can catch Arnie sitting
in for the Fellows yesterday with Jeff Schwartz and then
Jared Smith came on a little bit later, and of
course my Steve Perry, my solo gig on Friday Nights
with Gosho Brianna's on, Mark's on.
Speaker 2 (49:59):
I'm shot that joke. You're doing pretty good. I didn't
think you could do a show without me, so I'm.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
Sure it's not. Yeah, listen, I'll tell you.
Speaker 2 (50:05):
Want to complimenting you, I'm complimenting you.
Speaker 4 (50:07):
Yeah, you're complimenting me in and backhand in a way.
But I'll take it. I well, I don't know if
my wife knows that I'm doing that show. To be
honest with you, I think she just thinks I'm out
here like talking to myself. But I did not realize
how much.
Speaker 2 (50:22):
I missed the overnights. I love it.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
Yeah, I love it. I'm glad that I'm getting to
do it again. Do you only think I missus is
not taking phone call? I love to take phone calls.
Speaker 4 (50:31):
Oh, and it's so we got we got probably about
one hour and thirty minutes where just we're banging calls
and it's fun. Do you want to okay your choice?
Do you want to speaking of phone calls? Do you
want to bang some of these tweets out? Or do
you want to hit Roman numeral five to five Roman
numeral lakers?
Speaker 2 (50:48):
JJ, I want to go. We'll get to the tweets
a little. I know we're getting a lot, but let's
go to the five to five.
Speaker 4 (50:53):
Let's go Okay, So there's a lot of things here,
and I'm just gonna kind of roll through a few
of these questions because I got takes and you got takes.
We'll start with Lebron. The question is will he should he?
Could he retire? I still I don't think he's retiring.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
No, he threatens all the time. He's not going to retire.
He shouldn't retire, and the Lakers should keep him, okay,
for at least one more year, at least a year.
So it's just just and yes for me with the
Lakers and Lebron, though I do think Lebron has to
take a back seat to Luca, and you know, let
(51:31):
Luca make it his team. Sure, you have to get
somebody else, but that's beside the point. Just on Lebron.
He's not going to retire. You know why, Chris he's
not going to retire.
Speaker 4 (51:43):
Well, he's playing with his kid, right, so he's already
done that. Held, I'm thinking, I'm thinking, don't tell me.
He's already got the all time scoring record, so he
doesn't need that he's one rings he does.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
Okay, Well, I don't know what is it he needs
to play. I'm guessing two to three years from now, okay.
And the reason I think he's going to have to
play is because I think the next step for Lebron
is to be the owner of a basketball team in
Las Vegas. And what way to start that than to
have him actually play for that team and maybe his
(52:16):
two sons. By then, what Bright's is gonna be. He's
available in twenty twenty six, I believe, so he has
to play for a new team if he's going to
be the owner, at least one year to get everybody excited.
So that's what I think he's gonna do.
Speaker 3 (52:30):
Okay, then let me just dig real quick.
Speaker 2 (52:33):
Is that too much? Is that crazy that I think
he's gonna be the owner? Wasn't? No, not at all.
Speaker 3 (52:36):
But here my question is are we moving a team
there or are we gonna go ahead and expand.
Speaker 6 (52:42):
That.
Speaker 2 (52:42):
I don't know. I think they'll probably expand. I know
a lot of teams want to move there. You hear
about Dallas rumors about how they want to move there,
and they're putting the Cabach on that. So I don't
know who would have the upper hand, who would get
like first choice to move to Las Vegas if more
than one team wanted to move there.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
I don't really, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (53:02):
That's a good question because they we we saw what
happened with the NFL, right The NFL had the Lakers,
I'm sorry, the Dot, the Raiders, the Chargers, and the
Rams that were all kind of fighting for the possibility
of being in LA I remember they had the Carson
City Project. The Raiders and the Chargers are going to
(53:24):
share that. And then I mean, give Stan Kronky credit.
He's like, I can't be in a building where I'm
the least popular tenant, so bring on the Chargers. And
because if the Raiders were there, that's who all the
fans would have wanted to be a part of Raiders football,
other than the Rams. So I wonder if it would
be something like that, because I don't Here's two things.
(53:44):
Is the NBA working in New Orleans? Like, is the
NBA working in Memphis?
Speaker 2 (53:49):
Still? I think it is in Memphis. By the way,
New Orleans you think.
Speaker 4 (53:53):
It is, Okay, I'm just I'm trying to look at
places where maybe maybe the passion for the game was
kind of dissipated a bit.
Speaker 2 (54:01):
I would go ahead and make it a new team,
get that new expansion money.
Speaker 3 (54:06):
But you'd have to add some more because that's thirty three.
So do you I mean, do you need an even
number of teams? I'm sorry, thirty one thirty one? Sorry,
that'd be thirty one teams. So wouldn't you need to
add one more?
Speaker 2 (54:17):
Yes? I would think so, Yes, you would have to
add You would have to put a team like back
in Seattle or take it to the next step whatever
the next team was going to be, if maybe you
want to get out something outside the US again, or
maybe put a team back in Vancouver. I don't know,
but yes, you would have to add another team. Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (54:35):
Would you allow if they were back in Vancouver to
call themselves the Grizzlies again?
Speaker 2 (54:41):
All right?
Speaker 4 (54:42):
Well, then then there's I guess you and I are
unfortunately in lockstep on this because I don't I don't
think Lebron James should retire. I don't think the Lakers
should move on from him.
Speaker 2 (54:52):
And I'll tell you what, who do you think would
get a team other than Las Vegas? What are the
other possibility to Seattle what about San Diego? They did
have the Clippers, right, the San Diego Clippers. Well, here
here's what you have about follow the Buffalo Braves, Well
the Clippers.
Speaker 4 (55:07):
Right, But what what you're bringing up all these teams
that left? You know, it's like, what about this team? Like, yeah,
that people moved away from there. It's like whenever they
bring up Saint Louis as an NFL expansion possibility, on
my thinking of myself, guys, you know every team's gone,
there's left.
Speaker 2 (55:20):
You know, what used to be a hotbed for basketball?
Remember the Kansas City Omaha Kings. Remember they used to
play two different places.
Speaker 4 (55:27):
I think Kansas City would be interesting. I think that,
you know, the expansion question. You know, we haven't expanded
since eighty nine, right, I mean it's it's that's whenever
they out of the Tea Wolves in the Magic Oh,
hold on, you know that's actually incorrect.
Speaker 2 (55:42):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (55:43):
The Hornets in the Heat were eighty eight, yeah, and
the Timberwolves and the Magic raty nine.
Speaker 3 (55:48):
So I'm sorry, that is right, And you know, I
just don't I don't.
Speaker 4 (55:54):
You'll hear it in spurts, right, and it almost seems
like it's financially driven, but it's it's not.
Speaker 3 (56:00):
I don't feel like there's enough buzz.
Speaker 4 (56:02):
I feel like we'd hear a lot more about it, Arnie,
if it was as close to happening in two years
as you have kind of projected it in the case
of Lebron and an ownership.
Speaker 2 (56:11):
Even with Las Vegas is what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (56:12):
Just well, yes, with Las Vegas, but then in that
with expansion period, because I think Las Vegas is the
slam dunk one and the question is, okay, where else
might a team end up that makes sense?
Speaker 2 (56:25):
Yeah, no, it does. I maybe two years. I look,
I know they'll want to get it done and Lebron
would probably wouldn't Lebron want to play for his new team.
Speaker 4 (56:34):
I would maybe, so maybe maybe especially to have a draw, right,
because even though Vegas you want to have a draw, not.
Speaker 2 (56:40):
You're gonna you're gonna have trouble selling tickets in Las
Vegas for the well really, really, how's that going? With
the Raiders.
Speaker 4 (56:48):
You gotta be good, man, You gotta be good in
Vegas and did look at the Golden Knights they were good.
You gotta get there and you gotta be good. And
I wonder how an expansion draft would work. I still
don't know if expand it's going to be the thing,
but I'll had one more here on lebron Front. Then
we can bag on JJ Raddick later in the show. Yeah,
I understand why it happens, you know, where people feel
(57:10):
like they need to take shots at him and oh,
look he's faking reading the book and he's lying about
this or whatever. But I mean, it's not like he's
yelling that he has a grade two mcl sprain. You know,
he's not the guy that's out there telling everyone how
hurt he is. So I guess I'm just kind of
confused why everyone decides to pile on and on and
make fun of that whenever we find out, hey, man,
(57:32):
the guy was really hurt at the end of that series.
Speaker 2 (57:35):
He is it just the reputation on that. It is
the reputation. But he goes down it looks like he
got shot. He's like, oh, and he's right. And you
know what's so funny is his teammates don't even get concerned.
They're like, get i'p go, I get up, We'll help
you up. Come on, man, enough, we know you're gonna
be okay, but he was hurt. I mean, like I
said about Reeves, Reeves was hurt. I think it made
a difference. I think the same thing probably for Lebron too.
Speaker 4 (57:57):
All Right, we had a game seven tonight in the
NBA and a game seven in the NHL.
Speaker 3 (58:02):
The Jets are.
Speaker 4 (58:03):
Moving on, the Warriors are moving on. What does it
mean in the grand scheme of things. Let's head to
Vegas and talk to Todd Furman next with already in
Plank on Fox Sports Radio. All right, right to Vegas.
It's already in Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Our buddy
Todd Furman is in the house. I bet the Board
podcast incredible. Follow on X at Todd Furman. What a night,
(58:28):
What a what a night for Winnipeg fans. Just every
so often Hockey flex is on us and reminds us
how fun it is. And that was quite the scene
here this evening, wasn't it, Todd.
Speaker 8 (58:39):
No game is ever over until the clock strike triple zero.
And you saw the Colorado Avalanche squander a two goal
lead in Game seven yesterday against Dallas, and the Winnipeg
Jets follow suitor racing a two goal deficit today against
the Blues. Honestly, I had to put things in perspective
from a historical side of things. We'd only seen it
happen three times in the previous one hundred years, teams
(59:00):
blowing multi goal leads in Game seven in the NHL playoffs,
and we've now seen it back to back days.
Speaker 2 (59:06):
Todd, what was the in line betting on something like
that in the final two minutes and then in the
final like five seconds you.
Speaker 8 (59:14):
Don't have prices available? Oh god, it is the latest
the issues. So when you're talking about a game that's
three to one with under two minutes ago, there's not
typically a live line available at last jack. You could
have had you could have had a price tag around
Winnipeg around the four minute market or twenty to one,
And quite honestly, twenty to one isn't nearly what something
like that should pay given the historical improbability behind it.
(59:36):
So as we talked about yeah, as we've talked about it,
great Lanks. I mean, you're never going to get what
I would deem true odds in those kind of situations.
But credit to the Jets. The Blues unable to get
the puck out of their own end and Cole Profetti
making them pay with under two seconds to go in
the game, creating the elitest game time goal that we've
ever seen NHL history in a Game seven.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
Wow, Yeah, that was wild man, that was wild.
Speaker 4 (59:58):
So on the other side, Game seven's we really haven't
got that same fervor, that fire that buzz in the
NBA Nuggets humiliated the Clippers, and then what you had
tonight just Golden State pulling away from the Rockets. See
you like Golden State, and I guess we'll start here.
What do you think of Golden State's chances going forward now?
With Minnesota waiting.
Speaker 8 (01:00:18):
I think they're really up against it, But you never
want to kind of discount the heart of a champion
in this capacity. I think a lot of people are
ready to eulogize Golden State after they lost Game five
and we're kind of blown out in Game six in
their own building. But they showed some of that championship
result today, really locking down the defensive end and other
guys picking up the scoring flack until Steph Curry got going,
you know, deep into the third quarter and early on
(01:00:40):
in the fourth. But Minnesota'll enter the next round is
a massive favorite in that series right around minus a
dollar seventy, meaning you need to put up one dollar
and seventy cents to make a dollar coming back. And
I think Golden State knows that they're going to be
in a little bit of a conundrum from a schedule standpoint,
with a real quick turnaround going on the road for
Game one on Tuesday night against the Timberwolves, where maybe
it's another scheduling loss that if the game started to
(01:01:03):
get away from them early, Steve Kerr would rest a
lot of his starters and hope to salvage a road
split in game two if they don't have their full
compliment of weapons available in game one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
All right, Todd, look, I hope I don't have to
spell this out for you like I had to do
for playing because he didn't. He didn't pick up on
this right away. You saw that Indiana pe Cleveland, Well
that just opened up the door wide open for my
New York Knicks to go to the finals because once
they get by Boston, now Cleveland's gonna have a tough
time with Indiana. Indiana. My come out of that series, Nicks,
(01:01:35):
We'll get by Indiana. Championship.
Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
Here we come.
Speaker 8 (01:01:39):
Yeah, I don't quite understand any of that logic that
you tried to lay out coloquently there, Arnie. So I'm
right on plank side. Last I checked, it is a
best of seven series. It's not a single elimination type
tournament that we see in the Association, unlike college basketball.
So I wouldn't be writing Cleveland off for dead just yet.
And it wouldn't surprise you if they're still able to
get through the Pacers in six. But they're gonna need
(01:01:59):
to be a little bit better on the defensive side
than what we saw today. Credit the Pacers carrying some
of that momentum forward that we saw against the Milwaukee Bucks.
As far as the Knicker concerned, look, I mean they're
nine point underd dogs in Game one. They are massive
underdogs in the series, but it's not for a lack
of talent on that Nick roster. Let's see if coach
Tibbs can get his rotations in order and they can
go out there and force Boston out of its comfort
(01:02:20):
zone a little bit to push the Celtics further than
what the odds suggests.
Speaker 4 (01:02:24):
Pretty wild numbers in those two games won a two
game one tomorrow night, right, we got nine and nine
and a half. I mean, listen, I never want to
count out an MVP like Yo Kitch, but the new
MVP in ton SG, Yeah, I think. I think Oklahoma
City is going to have their way with Denver. Of
course I'm a homer, but are you surprised to see
numbers that high in the first round? Are they excuming
(01:02:45):
the second round in the playoffs?
Speaker 8 (01:02:47):
Not really? And the reason I say that is because
if we hit the rewind button and look at Denver,
I mean, they were consistently six six and a half
point dogs against the Clippers. So Oklahoma City, and my opinion,
is substantially better. And you can make the slight case
that this is a little bit of an underlay if
Oklahoma City can get through some of that rest versus
rust component here, because they do get Denver in the
perfect spot, Denver going to need to run it back
(01:03:08):
after for just a forty hour rest. But I'll also
make the case that they didn't have to expend a
whole lot of emotional energy in Game seven because, as
you mentioned, they blew the Clippers out of the water
in that game. I don't know what happened to the
Clippers in that series, but if the team that had
built its trademark on defense, and over the last couple
of games, it almost felt like there was something internally
going on because that team looked anything but engaged. Not
(01:03:29):
to diminish what Denver was able to do, but I
look at Oklahoma City and just thinks they're too big,
too deep, and have too much length on the interior
that if they're able to take away Nicola Jokic relatively speaking,
we know he's the best player in the game. For
a reason, I'm not sure where Denver looks to go
for some of those secondary scoring options knowing that Oklahoma
City can beat you in a variety of different ways.
Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
Todd, we were talking about Lebron before you came on.
My big hot take was he's not going to retire
because he's going to own that team in Las Vegas
and he's going to want to play that first year
to get everybody excited. Maybe you play with his kids.
What's going on with that? Is Vegas going to get
a team with and do you think Lebron is the
obvious owner and is it going to be an I
guess has to be a new franchise because anybody that
(01:04:12):
moves there, he wouldn't get to own that team.
Speaker 8 (01:04:15):
Well, if Lebron is going to be an owner and
play for that team in the first season, are and
he's going to be playing deep into his forties. Because
they haven't broken ground on a stadium, the league hasn't
announced that there'll be an expansion team here anytime soon,
So I'm not sure Lebron is going to don another
jersey in his illustrious NBA career. Now do I believe
he retires after what we saw this postseason? Maybe not
that he's got one more season left, but this was
(01:04:37):
the first time that I can remember Lebron not coming
out emphatically saying that he was going to return. You
could see the wear and tear of the season he
was able to play with Bronni I'll be in a
limited capacity, and you just wonder what he has left
in the tank for a Lakers team that still looks
to be a few pieces away from being a legitimate
NBA title contender despite the way the media allotted them
for the trade of Luka Doncik, and we look at
(01:04:58):
JJ Reddick calling out the team for its overall level
of conditioning, I have to imagine that was a veiled
criticism of one prominent player who's poised to be the
face of the franchise once Lebron alects to hang it up.
Speaker 4 (01:05:09):
Hey, I know we're running long, but ARENI and I touched,
of course, because every sports radio show is required to
on the Steelers lack of a quarterback situation. Are you
in that camp that feels like it's just a matter
of time before Aaron Rodgers makes this official or do
you think it could end up being Kirk Cousins in
Pittsburgh next year.
Speaker 8 (01:05:28):
I think that it will be Aaron Rodgers. I know
there were some rumors for accounts that I'm not necessarily
sure are well connected to the NFL circles, claiming that
Aaron Rodgers has to resolve some family things and that
they're going to get this worked out. But I'm not
sure that the Steelers would feel comfortable or confident going
into camp with Mason Rudolph and Will Howard as the
two quarterbacks that they have essentially competing for that starting job.
(01:05:50):
I don't think Will Howard is built to be in
every week's starter in the National Football League. I think
Mason Rudolph, at this point in his career has proven
that his stealing is extremely limited, and while he can
be very good, capable, competent and reliable backup, I think
the Steelers would be doing a disservice to the players
on the roster, Mike Tomlin and the organization as a
whole if that's how they approach things. So I would
look for the Steelers, if they are not able to
(01:06:11):
land Aaron Rodgers, to kind of be aggressive trying to
land somebody else on a player to be named later.
Now who that'll be that remains anybody's best guess, but
something that I'm sure all the Black and Gold faithful
out there would like resolve sooner.
Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
Rather than later.
Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
By the way, Todd, you win anything on the Kentucky
Derby or No, I did not.
Speaker 8 (01:06:29):
Had a small piece of Baeza who came home in
third at around fifteen to one. Did not get involved
with journalism at such a short price, but pretty impressive
run for sovereignty. Thought that could be a horse that
popped in the conditions. Didn't think they'd go out there
and kind of have the track in front of them.
But always fun to watch that event unfold. It's one
of the largest fields that those horses will run in
and we'll see a sovereignty can repeat defeat and whin
(01:06:50):
the second leg of the triple crown and make things
interesting because I don't think that was a fluke like
performance at all, but tough to take away from the
sloppy conditions if we see something very different on a
fa after track at Pimlico.
Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
For the briefness, Yeah, you're the.
Speaker 4 (01:07:02):
Man, Todd. Appreciate your time. Everyone check out his podcast.
We'll talk to you again soon, but thanks.
Speaker 8 (01:07:07):
Always a pleasure, gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
Go Nicks, Go Nicks, Go Necks.
Speaker 3 (01:07:11):
That podcast is the bet the Board podcast.
Speaker 4 (01:07:14):
Search it however you consume podcasts, and always follow Todd
on Twitter for the latest greatest gambling tidbits.
Speaker 3 (01:07:19):
Steve Sega running behind my bad What's going on man?
Speaker 5 (01:07:22):
Attendance yesterday for that muddy track of a Kentucky Derby
was one hundred and forty seven thousand, just for the record, crazies,
and kudos to the Louisville Paper during the week for
pointing out that the field going into Saturday's race, literally
every horse in the field was related to Secretary.
Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
Is that nuts? Is that just crazy?
Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
I saw that.
Speaker 5 (01:07:43):
That is astounding, but I guess when you've had six
hundred kids, it's a little more likely than we would think.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
But that was Secretariat's record. Do you know if the the.
Speaker 5 (01:07:53):
Whole thing, I don't know. I just remember the dominance
to finish the triple crown win in seventies.
Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Again, Arnie, you could simple tied Secretariat.
Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
Yeah, I'm busy. I'm busy, all right, My bad? Anyway.
Speaker 5 (01:08:06):
Yeah, Well, we've got a rarity coming up in the
second round of the NBA Playoffs, a matchup of a
sixth seed against a seven seed. It's going to be
Minnesota hosting Golden State in a game one of the
best of seven conference semifinals on Tuesday. A couple of
years ago, it was six versus seven with a Golden
State Lakers series by the way, But aside from that,
(01:08:27):
it has not happened since the nineteen eighties. Where the
Warriors are still alive and they win yet another game
since they acquired Jimmy Butler. The final in Game seven
at Houston was one oh three eighty nine. It's been
almost three months since they acquired Butler in trade from Miami.
Since his debut February eighth, Golden State's record is twenty
eight and eleven in the lost. Fred van Vliet was
(01:08:49):
seventeen points. He'd had so much scoring the previous two
games to help force a game seven and come back
in this series. Jalen Green eight points. Tonight, Houston was
down fifteen at home, got with it three in the
third quarter, and then fell behind by twenty late in
the game. And the Warriors were playing without backup Gary
Payton the second he sat out due to illness. Draymond
Green had eight quick points in this one, finished with sixteen.
(01:09:12):
I'd mentioned earlier that yet again the Rockets franchise is
eliminated by the Warriors. These are the details since twenty fifteen.
It's happened five times. Golden State in twenty fifteen in
a conference final beat him in five games, and the
next year in the first round beat him in five.
Twenty eighteen, Houston famously lost a game seven at home
(01:09:34):
against the Warriors in the conference final, and the next
year lost a series to Golden State second round in
six and now a game seven loss at home in
a first round series against Golden State. Indiana opened the
second round of the NBA Playoffs with a game one
win at top seed Cleveland in an East semifinal, won
twenty one to one.
Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
Twelve.
Speaker 5 (01:09:54):
Boston host New York on Monday to start a second
round series, also starting Monday, Denver at Oklahoma City. The
NBA invited seventy five players to this month's combine in Chicago.
The league had announced over one hundred players had filed
for early entry to the draft. Now, of course, some
of those withdraw and many don't get selected at all.
The deadline for college basketball players to withdraw from the
(01:10:16):
draft may twenty eighth. For the others, it's mid June.
The actual NBA draft starts June twenty fifth. Why they
are doing two nights, I have no idea. But among
those on the list, it's Stukes Cooper Flag of course,
declared for the draft, from Rutgers, Dylan Harper, Ace Bailey.
It's a long list. There was a Game seven in
the NHL at Winnipeg, and my goodness, the Jets are
(01:10:36):
still alive, winning in double overtime, eliminating Saint Louis four
to three. Winnipeg was down three to one with two
minutes to go. Scottie Scheffler won by eight strokes. In Texas,
he missed last year's event for the birth of his
first child. Today, after the win, he was cradling his
one year old son. He's the first Wire to Wire
(01:10:57):
Byron Nelson winner since Tom Watson forty five years ago.
Speaker 2 (01:11:01):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (01:11:02):
His victory margin was second largest in the history of
the Byron Nelson. Back in nineteen fifty seven, Sam Snead
had a ten shot win when it was known as
the Dallas Open Invitational, but the guy finished thirty one
under par.
Speaker 3 (01:11:15):
So that seventy two.
Speaker 5 (01:11:16):
Hoole score does tie the PGA Tours all time low record,
which is set by Justin Thomas and Ludvigoberg. He bogied
seventeen today, Pard eighteen to finish up. Joey Logano took
the NASCAR race. He's not only so good, he's defending
champ essentially on the tour and still number one. And
Rory McElroy's been great and still has an overtaken number one.
(01:11:39):
That is saying something. Joey Logano at Texas took the
NASCAR race. Ross Chastain finished second. It's Logano's first top
five finish this year. His starting position was twenty seventh.
And in baseball, Braves beat the Dodgers for three.
Speaker 4 (01:11:52):
Yeah, Joey Logano getting it done down in Texas. All right,
let's get a couple of these tweets in here. Yeah, because,
as you like to say it, in a very busy
night on the Twitter front, Uh, Darryl.
Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
Right, folks just love to hate Lebron. He's an easy target.
Speaker 4 (01:12:09):
If anyone saw Dante deven Sinzo flat out truck him.
There really isn't a debate he was injured on that play.
I texted my big my best friend that moment and said.
Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
He was done.
Speaker 3 (01:12:20):
Yeah, but it was way late, not at all the
reason they lost.
Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
Stephen Benzo is not a big guy, but he got
Lebron good on that good and I didn't know how
what the extent of the injury was at the time,
but didn't surprise me that he had something, you know,
that sprain and I don't think it affected him as
much as Austin Reeves, though I think Austin Reeves was really,
really hurt and he just we just didn't know it.
Speaker 4 (01:12:43):
Eric writes the current NBA revenue model seems to heavily
punish franchises in smaller TV markets, so is Las Vegas
with the fortieth ranked TV market really a no brainer.
Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
Well, I kind of thought that they already had the arena.
Speaker 2 (01:12:56):
I was wronged. I g they'd not even guess I
thought to the All Star Game? What was the All
Star Game in Las Vegas? Again?
Speaker 3 (01:13:04):
Something you could have easily googled.
Speaker 2 (01:13:05):
Yes, well, it just came to my mind right now.
But I thought back then.
Speaker 4 (01:13:10):
When they finally twenty the NBA All Star Game was
playing in Las Vegas in two thousand and seven, but
that was at the Thomas and Max Center.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Right right, I thought we were closer to having a
team in Vegas than that.
Speaker 4 (01:13:21):
I thought there was well, but that was well there
there is where the Golden Knights play, So why couldn't
they share that?
Speaker 3 (01:13:31):
He's a just an inna because they do concerts there
and everything. So that's where I thought that the NBA
team would go.
Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
I what about that's that sphere thing, you know where
they do the concerts. Could you play there? I don't
think you could play. I don't know. I think would
that be great?
Speaker 6 (01:13:46):
Or what?
Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
Huh? That'd be awesome.
Speaker 4 (01:13:48):
Guys would be tripping out there in the games because
you'd have all the background and everything glowing around them.
I'm with you though, because and here's why, because you
had the A Rod ownership group that when they bought
the Timberwolves, every one thought, what was the rumor, Oh,
they're going to Vegas? Right, So when you people say
TV markets, TV markets, I don't disagree with you.
Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
But I'm just hey man in that echo chamber.
Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
When we're talking about NBA expansion, Las Vegas has always
appeared to be a slam dung.
Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
I guess maybe not with the added of football and
baseball and hockey, and I mean, they're just missing one.
So I thought that was just a natural next step.
So I guess I'm wrong on that. I guess, well,
I'll make you want to be right there with you,
because I pretty much felt the same way. And then
Larry writes the NBA, the MLB, NFL and NBA can't
(01:14:40):
expand to Vegas because of the gambling controversy, but a
franchise can move there. And I believe the Mavericks are
going to Vegas and Dallas and Seattle will get a
new team. That was the reason for the Luca trade.
Speaker 4 (01:14:53):
Well, again, Larry, I don't think the gambling part of
it has anything to do with it anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:14:58):
I mean, my gosh, you can't go anywhere with having
sports gambling slammed in your face.
Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
And the Golden Knights wore an expansion franchise that just
came to fruition there. So I again, I always felt
like it was the next place, and then Seattle there
as well, if Seattle can get its.
Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
Arena figured out.
Speaker 4 (01:15:16):
But again, we might be talking out of our backsides
because it might not be something as maybe pending as
we kind of thought it was. When you heard Adam
Silver after the cell of the Boston Celtics say hey,
we're kind of reevaluating what that's going to look like.
Speaker 2 (01:15:29):
What's the only other major city we hear is what Nashville.
Nashville is in there. Yeah, it's always up there for
any type of expansion. So and that's probably the next step. Also,
that's a major, major city. A lot of people are
moving there.
Speaker 4 (01:15:41):
Right, But again, is there a thirst for NBA. We've
already got hockey right, or do you have here's the thing.
Do you have a business owner or a billionaire that's like, hey,
I want to bring a team here. That'll help make
it happen too. All right, Listen, we got a break
when we come back. We'll continue to tie up those
loose sends plus your tweets all night long right here
(01:16:02):
on Fox Sports Radio. Oh, it's only appropriate, Arnie Spaniard. Yes,
that Snoop Doggy Dog is bringing in Steve to sig
favorite song.
Speaker 2 (01:16:14):
That's right. What's going on, Steve?
Speaker 5 (01:16:17):
I'm not sure about appropriate? But hi, Hi, once again,
you mentioned Kentucky Derby last segment. They got great TV
ratings a year ago. It was even better this year.
Yesterday's race, well last year is about sixteen million viewers.
Is over seventeen million on NBC this year. The actual
race portion at seven pm Eastern time was well over
twenty million.
Speaker 2 (01:16:37):
It's sort of like ten minutes late.
Speaker 5 (01:16:40):
Yeah, it did not start on time. They were saying,
you know, first post is it? Well, yeah, or maybe
checking on the hell side of Mike Jerico. You know
he didn't want I can weaken joke about it now,
but he he didn't wind up being on the bulk
of the broadcast because of a nut allergy, so someone
else had to take over the rest.
Speaker 2 (01:16:58):
Of the day.
Speaker 5 (01:16:59):
But really, yeah, absolutely did I miss.
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
That he got sick?
Speaker 1 (01:17:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:17:03):
Could you imagine this at plike? We need you in there.
He got somebody let's go.
Speaker 5 (01:17:07):
You don't know what they said initially under the weather
quote unquote and then later gave some explanation. But the
Kentucky Derby on TV the past year, for example, in
Sports TV, it's it gets some of the biggest ratings
aside from football. In fact, the only things bigger aside
from football in the last year. The Yankees Dodgers clincher
of the World Series last fall, the recent March Madness
(01:17:30):
Final in men's hoops, and the Olympics which dominated the
ratings from Paris last summer.
Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
That's crazy.
Speaker 5 (01:17:35):
And then you got Kentucky Derby. Well, speaking of dominance.
By the way, Caitlin Clark was playing for her WNBA team,
the Fever, in Iowa in an exhibition and she had
sixteen points as they beat Brazil. The final was oneh
eight to forty four in this exhibition seventy to twenty
four in the first half. This Brazilian team had lost
by twenty seven on Friday to Chicago. Let's hear how
(01:17:59):
the NHL Game seven went tonight, shall we? Because the
Winnipeg Jets were facing elimination the top seeds at home,
We're losing Game seven to end the first round. They
were down three to one with two minutes to go,
they got a goal and then in the final seconds
down three to two.
Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
Funny, what's a complectionion?
Speaker 1 (01:18:20):
What point? Six seconds?
Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
Then with the third carry, the Jet get tight it
up at three. Holy hope.
Speaker 5 (01:18:27):
Jets Radio network Power ninety seven with the call, and
then we got to Sportsnet and the double overtime tally.
Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
He shoots game series.
Speaker 5 (01:18:43):
Score three in double overtime. Winnipeg will now be playing
Dallas in the second round. Jets host Game one on Wednesday.
As for the NBA Game seven tonight, Golden State eliminated
Houston one O three eighty nine. That means twice now
Golden States one at Houston in a Game seven. In
recent history. To do that to a single opponent twice
(01:19:07):
road game seven wins had only happened once before in
NBA history. That was when the Pacers beat the Knicks
twice in Game sevens, once with youing in ninety five
and once last year. But Steph Curry wound up despite
going nearly scoreless for the entire first half, he wound
up with twenty two points and ten rebounds in a
game seven.
Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
Win to do that.
Speaker 5 (01:19:28):
In Warrior's history, the only guy that had done that
was wil Chamberlain. Of course, for him it was about
forty points thirty rebounds in nineteen sixty four, but still
the boards were there and Curry had seven assists as well.
So now he and Draymond Green have each beaten Houston
in five different series in their careers. Robert Rriy in
his long career, beat Phoenix in six different playoff series.
(01:19:52):
The record Bill Russell beat the Lakers in seven best
of sevens in his career. And in Major League Baseball,
we had a row Oils at Orioles game today where
the teams combined for eleven home runs, which is a
Camden Yards record they've tied. That's a franchise record seven
home runs just for the Kansas City side, which is
notable because Kansas City entered the weekend with the fewest
(01:20:15):
number of home runs in the major leagues, just fifteen.
The individual with the most in the league had twelve
by himself. The Royals as a team had fifteen until seven. Today,
Padres won their fifth in a row. Dodgers lost at
Atlanta to end a seven games.
Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
Anyway, ya, Guiana's not coming through that door any time soon.
Speaker 4 (01:20:34):
Royals reference Frank White's not coming through that door anytime soon.
Steve Balboni is, we can do this all night long.
The Power Hour is coming up next. But did Arnie
Orty spoil his picks?
Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
Fight up next?
Speaker 1 (01:20:47):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio radio.
Speaker 4 (01:20:50):
All right, it's Arney and playing Fox Sports Radio. We
call this the Power hour. So what did you decide
that on Saturday when you had four hours? Was the
third hour still the power.
Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
Third hour was the power hour? The fourth hour was
the bonus hour? Which, okay.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
So I would love to.
Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
Live in Vegas. I used to live in Vegas when
I was younger. I I would love to live in
My wife would never go for it, but I would
love to go ahead and live out there.
Speaker 3 (01:21:17):
Why would your wife never go for it?
Speaker 2 (01:21:19):
Oh yeah, please get out of here, Get out of here.
I think it'd be a blast though. I'd have a
good time, no doubt about, of course you would.
Speaker 4 (01:21:26):
But see, this is where you make no sense to me,
and I'm with you. I love a sportsbook. I love
having all the games on. Yes, energy that's in there.
I love OTBS And you want to you ask me
what I know about horse racing. I love going to OTB.
So we have a lot of tracks. Oh talk about
the degenerates. Oh yeah, that's these those are my people, Arnie.
But you do again have the ability to bet on
(01:21:49):
any game and all these pics you give us that
you wanted.
Speaker 2 (01:21:51):
Any time you've heard that people say the best time
to go to Vegas is the first round of the ncuble.
Ah shure Man, that's because you know, people like to
be around there and go crazy. The sports books are insane,
and you know, it's just all the excitement, I think
is what it is. And plus they got great acts
out there, great you know musicians, So it'd be a
(01:22:12):
fun place to live.
Speaker 3 (01:22:13):
Are you in some of these tweets that we've got
so far?
Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
Yeah, we'll getting tons.
Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
Okay, this is hot off the presses?
Speaker 2 (01:22:19):
All right, this is uh.
Speaker 4 (01:22:21):
I think this is someone in your neck of the
woods and neck of the night. Auburn Wild writes, what
is going on with this show?
Speaker 2 (01:22:28):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (01:22:28):
This is supposed to be the best show on air
closing out the week and the Jets and the Blues
and the Stanley Cup playoffs just ended, and the best
sports series in decades with probably the best Game seven
in sports.
Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
You should be all in.
Speaker 4 (01:22:46):
Should we open up the lines for some Winnipeg Jets,
Saint Louis bluestalk Auburn wild I'm here for it.
Speaker 2 (01:22:52):
I'm here for it. I would say yes, but I'm
afraid we'd actually get calls that, so I'm not so
sure we should do that. First of all. Yeah, maybe
it was.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
He might be right.
Speaker 2 (01:23:01):
It might be one of the best Game sevens in
the history of sport, the way they came from behind,
as the best series in decades. I'm not so sure
about that. I don't know if I put it right
up there.
Speaker 4 (01:23:13):
You know, one Auburn Wilde got me thinking, I'm sure
that's his real name. We need to one day this summer.
Maybe it's if we get a chance to fill in
during the week, or maybe we just take a Sunday
night show in June or July and it's after the
NBA crown has been handed out to the Thunder and
(01:23:33):
after the Stars when the Stanley Cup championship. Arnie, maybe
we should do a show best playoff series that we've
ever seen, or at least that we've covered or talked
about or that we think is up there, like Auburn
Wild thinks the seven game between the Jets and the
Blues are.
Speaker 2 (01:23:49):
That would be good. Yeah. One that comes to my mind,
I think is the old Nick's pistons with the King
Well going off for like fifty or you know, going
off fifty. I don't know how many games he was
a stud back then. It was unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (01:24:03):
That is a very good That is very good point.
Auburn Wild.
Speaker 4 (01:24:06):
We we apologize to the hockey love and fans out there,
but we were living it up.
Speaker 3 (01:24:11):
We brought it up, we talked about it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:13):
Come on.
Speaker 4 (01:24:14):
Seger talked about it a lot during his update as well, too.
Keith Keith rights, the rule of thumb is that small
markets can't support both NHL and NBA franchise. Too much
overlap of seasons, not enough population and sponsors. That's my Milwaukee,
in the hockey hot bed of Wisconsin, has no NHL franchise.
Speaker 2 (01:24:37):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (01:24:38):
I haven't thought of it that way, because there is
always any time an NHL franchise comes up, people say,
want to bring to Oklahoma City. Right, we love hockey
back in the day, we've loved the thunder. I think
that's a good point. You don't wanna you don't want
to oversaturate the sponsor market and oversaturate the discretionary funds
or you know, extra revenue that people as fans make
(01:25:01):
to spin on tickets.
Speaker 3 (01:25:02):
It might be tough. It might be tough. I could
see that. But again, it is a good point that
is there. But this does go back to what we
think we've always known.
Speaker 4 (01:25:10):
I mean, a step on you, dude, but what we
think we've always known about NBA expansion where everyone's like, oh, yeah,
Vegas eventually, and I guess we talked to Todd about
it earlier.
Speaker 3 (01:25:20):
There's not that hotbed there that we assumed. There was
no my bad on that because I thought that was
like I thought the same thing though, Yeah, I thought.
Speaker 2 (01:25:28):
They were close. I'm like, oh, we should get it
any year now, there's gonna be Then you're the dials
riomages you brought up earlier, how they're trying to go
ahead and move the team there and the NBA didn't
want them to do that, and they're going to figure
out a way, and I just I guess we jumped
the gun there a little bit, to be honest.
Speaker 4 (01:25:44):
Well, I and again I don't necessarily know that we
truly have, but we shall see.
Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
We shall see.
Speaker 4 (01:25:53):
Here's one because I think we get this quite a
bit whenever we talk about expansion and don't mention Seattle,
tim Wrights, come on, the Seattle arena has been ready
for four years. Get control of your boy.
Speaker 6 (01:26:06):
Me.
Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
I guess that's you.
Speaker 4 (01:26:08):
Yeah, but see we're in lock. So you can't yell
at Arnie and you can't you wear together on. You
can't throw me under the butts. Because I felt the
same way.
Speaker 2 (01:26:15):
I said Seattle too. If we were we had two teams,
I said Seattle in Vegas. Though, I'm starting to question
whether Seattle is ever going to get a team to
come back.
Speaker 4 (01:26:23):
Also, well, here's what sucked for Seattle was just timing,
because if if they just would have allowed the Hornets
to stay in Oklahoma City after Hurricane Katrina, then it
would be a complete or if they just wanted to
they wanted to get him back to New Orleans, and
(01:26:45):
you know, big hey, New Orleans is back. That was
a terrible time, man, And I mean Oklahoma City really
benefited because it showed we can support the royal we
I live here, can support an NBA franchise, and when
the Hornets came here, everyone loved it.
Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
Well.
Speaker 4 (01:27:01):
Immediately, local business owners, people that had really fallen in
love with the NBA, said let's go get us a team.
And when I believe the owner of the Pelican not
they weren't the Pelicans, they were still the Hornets. He
wasn't going to sell yeah, Hornets. He wasn't going to
sell them, and so he wanted to bring them back
to New Orleans. So Oklahoma City went looking and just
(01:27:23):
Seattle was in a rut. They were at a time
where they couldn't get their new arena done. I know, listen,
I'm not trying to I was there, Jasonson. There's a
lot of tweets about this tonight. I'd live it from
an Oklahoma City side. So we got very fortunate because
it was one year after they moved that they got good.
Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
It was a very popular team.
Speaker 4 (01:27:42):
Of of course, it was absolutely But what happened. What
happens when you start to struggle and you would you
need a new arena and it doesn't happen and your
team's not winning, then those fans don't always show up.
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:28:00):
People get down and owners look to try to maximize
their investment. And that's just battle lot Seattle.
Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
I don't think. I don't think our listeners even know
any former Seattle Supersonic like Jack Sigma or Kevin Durant,
well please Downtown, Freddie Brown, right, stuff like that. I see.
Speaker 3 (01:28:21):
Here's the thing, though, you know, I love the Sonics,
and now, because I live in Oklahoma City, it's like
I'm on public and say, of course you're gonna say things,
so I could here.
Speaker 4 (01:28:30):
No, But I mean I I crew up a Lakers fan,
and the Lakers and the Sonics always had some great battles.
Speaker 2 (01:28:36):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:28:37):
Yeah, get I hope they're the Sonics. If Seattle gets
a team back, I really do, and let them.
Speaker 2 (01:28:43):
Have their history.
Speaker 3 (01:28:44):
It's fine because I think that's cool and I think
that's the way it should be. I mean, there's what
de not Delas Yeah, Delave Shrimp was a.
Speaker 2 (01:28:51):
Sal Supersonic by the way, not just yes, Deliv Shrimp
was was one. Absolutely How did we how do we
end up on this tonight? Maybe Auburn Wilde's right, what happened?
How do we end up? Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
I know it started with Lebron That's what it was, right.
Speaker 4 (01:29:09):
The Vegas you theorize that Lebron would own a team
in Vegas, right, and that he would play long enough
to play.
Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
With both of his kids. That's what it was. Ye.
You imagine that.
Speaker 4 (01:29:20):
Mustang Mania, whom I dig right, move Memphis to the
Eastern Conference and add Seattle and Vegas in the West.
Speaker 3 (01:29:28):
That would make too much sense.
Speaker 2 (01:29:29):
Yeah, that'd certainly be the way I go. He's absolutely
right about that.
Speaker 4 (01:29:32):
I would think though, if if you're looking at a
situation to id Jason Wrights, the MAVs are not leaving
Dallas for Vegas. Dallas's media market for Vegas is number
forty even with streaming. There's no way the league gives
up the market for TV, gives up market for TV
contract wise.
Speaker 3 (01:29:51):
Yeah, I'm with you, Jason.
Speaker 4 (01:29:53):
I never thought any of the rumors and innu windows
about well they traded Luca because this new owner wants
to move the team to Vegas, are'ty.
Speaker 2 (01:30:02):
That never made any sense to me because Dallas is.
Speaker 4 (01:30:05):
A you were there, You were there whenever the Mavericks
were in the height of their prime of their greatness.
Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
Right, If we're gonna do strictly on markets, though, what
about the Raiders with the Oakland slash San Francisco market.
Even though the forty nine ers were up there, they're
still very popular, and they decided to give that all
up to go to Las Vegas. Also, they had the
LA Market and gave that up to go to Las Vegas. Also, well,
they didn't give up the LA market. They were told
(01:30:32):
they weren't going there. That's what happened there.
Speaker 4 (01:30:35):
They were basically told, yeah, I know the LA Market's
going to be the Rams and the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (01:30:39):
They didn't give it up.
Speaker 4 (01:30:40):
I think if I if the NFL could have done
it the right way, the Rams and the Raiders would
be in LA right now and just give the Chargers
to Vegas. If they would have done it the right way,
that's what would have happened, and that's what would have worked.
But I get it Stan Krockey didn't want a team
that would be more popular than his in his stadium.
Speaker 3 (01:31:01):
I don't blame him at all. And the Chargers are
They're pretty good.
Speaker 4 (01:31:05):
I mean, I think Herbert and Harbor are going to
get him winning games, so you might be doomed anyway
in the long term. But yeah, the Raiders didn't say no, no, no,
we don't want to go to LA and they wanted to.
They were told, now, this isn't an option for you.
But I see what you're saying, right, Everyone's like, oh,
why would they go there?
Speaker 2 (01:31:22):
I think San Diego is the biggest city that doesn't
have anything other than the Padres, No NBA, you know,
no NHL. We got to go ahead and give him
back their NBA down there in San Diego, and they
got the Chargers.
Speaker 4 (01:31:35):
And I will say, I will say I think I
understand people say it was streaming and all that stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:31:41):
I don't think media markets matter anymore. I agree watched them.
Speaker 4 (01:31:45):
Yeah, we watched TV so differently, and it's not just
what's what's great. And I was not to say if
the Nake's a powerful franchise and well no one goes
gets in the finals, it's not going to be amazing ratings.
I'm sure it would be, but aren't he I just
I don't think that matters as much because you're still
a beast if you're the NFL and you're getting ratings
(01:32:07):
regardless of where teams are. And as far as the
NBA is concerned, I mean, they're not making they're not
they don't have killer ratings and they're making money hand
over fisk. So this is a nerdy line the foxwall
that we've fallen down tonight. And I'm sorry, rabbit hole,
excuse me, but it's just it's fascinating when you start
thinking about what the NBA is going to look like
over the next five.
Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
To six years. Oh absolutely, And like we said just
we were thinking about where Lebron is going to go
to next and sure, by the way, I think there's
gonna be a little animassy between Lebron and JJ Reddick
starting next year. Yeah. And if things on start off
right away, good, I think there's gonna be some problems.
Speaker 4 (01:32:45):
Here's one hot off the presses for mister Nobody and
then we've uh, we got to get a break because
I gotta stay on time.
Speaker 2 (01:32:51):
I have a feeling you have a lot of picks tonight.
I want to make sure we get them all in. Wow,
do you not really? Just my next really? And we'll
take our.
Speaker 4 (01:32:58):
Time, mister Nobody pushback against an NBA team in Vegas. Again,
this is all hypothetical world that we've lived in tonight.
Today's NBA isn't as popular, product, not as watchable.
Speaker 2 (01:33:11):
What a city as big as Vegas.
Speaker 4 (01:33:13):
Support and expansion team playing no defense and shooting thirty
five to forty three is a game and probably losing
a lot. Well, that's why you know, when a Rod
and whomever was with his investors whenever they bought the team,
they kind of thought that they'd be able to just
slide a fairly successful team like Auburn.
Speaker 3 (01:33:32):
I'm sorry, it's looking at I'm looking at Auburn Wild's tweet.
Speaker 4 (01:33:35):
They got to get the Auburn Tigers and Bruce Pearl
in there, Arnie, get a successful team like Minnesota there,
and you'd already have a star in Anthony Edwards.
Speaker 3 (01:33:42):
I mean, these were all the rumors that we were
hearing around the time that that cell was made.
Speaker 2 (01:33:46):
Do you know you wonder how profitable owning an NBA
team has looked. The Celtics majority owner just sold his
share of the team right.
Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
Well, and again you mentioned is the end even looking
to expand?
Speaker 4 (01:34:02):
Well, Adam Silver said, the league is carefully evaluating the
cell of the Celtics before moving forward with expansion discussions.
They're kind of looking at what might be a smart
place to expand, and then they see the Celtics sold
for what six point one billion, Is that right? I
(01:34:24):
don't know the exact number, but I think he's right
around there. Well, then, like you said, well, what would
even cost? So now the NBA looks at it and says,
the Celtics is sold for six billion. So if you
want to start a team, here's what the franchise fee
should be. Here's what Rightah, So suddenly like we want
to expand, And I'm sure if we said, hey, the
NBA is expanding to two cities, I'm sure there'd be
(01:34:44):
some buzz, right, I'm sure there'd be city starting campaigns,
but I'm pretty sure that price tag would start with
a B.
Speaker 2 (01:34:50):
Right. Well, there's a lot of rich people out there,
and Lebron certainly one of them. Though again he can't
on the team out right himself. It's gonna have to
be well, let's he's reached. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:35:01):
Well, oh yeah, yeah, I see what you're saying.
Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
I see what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (01:35:03):
One more on this, one more on this. JJ Wrights
dudes seattle over Vegas for basketball. We got robbed and
been strung along for pushing seventeen years now. Vegas is
oversaturated with teams. If they get baseball too, well they're
gonna get baseball. They're gonna get baseball. He could be
right about that. There could be an oversaturation. And you know,
(01:35:24):
I've been reading about all this stuff about how visitors
aren't going to Las Vegas as much anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:35:29):
It's been dead and you know, as expensive to go there,
it's not as cheap as it used to be to
go to Las Vegas, so they're worried about that also.
Speaker 4 (01:35:37):
But it's expensive to go everywhere now, I mean everywhere,
and for some reason, the places that used to be
the bastion of cheap college campuses are the most expensive
places on the planet.
Speaker 3 (01:35:50):
Mike Gainesville. I was in Gainesville, Florida this weekend. Arnie beautiful, awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:35:55):
I've been there.
Speaker 4 (01:35:56):
I've been there, expensive, expensive, everything, so much damn money,
college kids, Come on, now, let's go tennis data rights.
Seinfeld really missed a huge opportunity. Should have had Arnie
in a recurring role as the sports Crazed Neighbor show
might still be on. You know, I don't know if
(01:36:18):
people know that's your TV show going By the way,
that's still in the works.
Speaker 2 (01:36:22):
It's still being shopped around, so I haven't heard anything
new about that, And I don't think people know this.
Larry David, who wrote Seinfeld, one couple is named Beth
and Arnie, and they took their names after us, So
I didn't think people kind of remembered that that were
in Seinfeld.
Speaker 3 (01:36:41):
Because of that in Seinfeld?
Speaker 2 (01:36:46):
Huh are you a big Seinfeld fan?
Speaker 3 (01:36:49):
Well, yeah, of course I am.
Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
There's a there's another couple called Beth and Arnie, right right.
You didn't know that, Yeah, they were adopting the baby.
It's they they were adopting a baby when Beth was
and Arnie yells a lot and stuff like that. It
was like they totally took a lot of our characteristics
and put that in there.
Speaker 3 (01:37:07):
So you think anything like Arnie yell. I was gonna say,
have you you got any confirmation that he used you guys?
Speaker 2 (01:37:16):
We once got an email from Larry David's office, but
I can't find it, so I don't have any confirmation.
But I'm pretty sure he does listen to sports radio.
I was in LA and he's, you know, a very
big sports guy. So I'm I'm thinking it's you know,
who else is be Beth and Arnie?
Speaker 6 (01:37:34):
What?
Speaker 2 (01:37:35):
What is it? A coincidence?
Speaker 1 (01:37:36):
Come on?
Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
Now, I mean because let's get real. I shouldn't you think.
Speaker 4 (01:37:40):
If I google Beth and Arnie, do you think you
and Beth are the first two people that pop up?
Speaker 2 (01:37:45):
No? Probably the ones from Seinfeld right? Are the ones?
The one from Seinfeld right? And then Beth and Arnie?
Then we're the second one. Who else? Dude? Tell me
another couple named Beth and Arnie?
Speaker 3 (01:37:58):
Another couple about Beth on the air in La of course.
Speaker 2 (01:38:04):
And Beth was pregnant. They were adopting a kid. Arnie
yells a lot, and then they were They were in
another episode where they almost broke him up where George
said you could do better than Arnie and they almost
got separated because of that. So that was after you. Yeah,
totally after me. You don't believe me, do you?
Speaker 6 (01:38:26):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:38:27):
But then again, if you claim you have an email
from Larry.
Speaker 2 (01:38:30):
David, I don't. I mean, I don't have it. I
don't know where it would be.
Speaker 3 (01:38:33):
But what do you remember what the email said?
Speaker 2 (01:38:36):
I don't know, not really.
Speaker 4 (01:38:38):
If Larry David had emailed me, and I'm not a
starstruck kind of a guy, I'm pretty sure I would
remember what the email said too, But it.
Speaker 2 (01:38:45):
Was so long ago. Remember that. Now, look how long
ago was We're talking twenty five years ago or something,
so I have no idea to remember. But there's no
doubt he took it from us. Okay, I mean, come on, now.
Speaker 3 (01:38:59):
Aren't you then? Shouldn't there be some royalties coming up?
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
I would take I should sue him, I really, I mean,
you're right about that. I should sue. And if I
ever saw Larry David, I'm gonna walk up to you. Hey,
it's me Arnie, remember me, Marney, Beth and Arney. You've
made millions off our names.
Speaker 4 (01:39:19):
Come on now, well, Larry David and many others can
stream this show and all of our Fox Sports Radio
shows whenever wherever they want live twenty four to seven
with a new and improved Iheard Radio app. Just search

(01:39:39):
So be sure to preset Fox Sports Radio on the
iHeart Radio app and it will pop up at the
bottom of your screen. Gate great night for one game,
seven midnight for the other. What's ahead? We'll talk about
a next on Fox Sports Radio. Great night of action
in the Stanley Cup playoffs, a Game seven that went
down to the wire to Saga has the update with
(01:40:00):
an incredible call coming up here in just a bit,
Golden State. Let's see how many times is that now
that they've beaten it in eleven years?
Speaker 2 (01:40:10):
Oh my goodness. You know, but everybody talks about the hockey.
We get a lot of tweets about the hockey, but
yet raidings are down. It's like not a lot of
people are wh what is it eight hundred thousand or
maybe less than that, maybe like five hundred thousand watch
the NHL playoffs. Yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (01:40:28):
Gotta be honest with you. I have not been a
good viewer of the Stanley Cup playoffs. I haven't been.
I don't know why. Maybe because the Kings blew that
lead and ended up getting eliminated might be part of it.
But I haven't been sucked in like I thought. So
(01:40:49):
I'm gonna I'm gonna make a commitment to you this week, Arnie,
oh and you Auburn Wilde and all of the great
hockey fans out there. I'm getting in in Mustang mania
for you guys, because I feel like I'm missing out.
Did you see that note that mustang Mania tweeted us
oh the the star of the Stars. A third period
(01:41:15):
hat trick in a game seven, a game seven hat
trick versus his former team, four point periods in back
to back games, four point game seven on his former team,
and ten plus points across games five and seven from
Miko Retinen.
Speaker 2 (01:41:36):
I mean that's is that good? I think that's pretty good.
I think that's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (01:41:41):
A third period hat trick in game seven, That's unbelievable.
So an wile good on Dallas. They're really good and
that was a fun series to Like I said, I've
been a highlight watcher on the Stanley Cup finals, just
being our excuse the Stanley Cup playoffs, just being honest.
So I guess I'm part of the problem as someone
who used to watch all the time. If ratings are down,
(01:42:02):
you know what the play is. I don't like the
way they do the playoffs now. I never yeah number one,
and I never know where they what channel damn games on?
I'm like an old person, like what channel is this?
What's it on? Is it on t N, t or TBS?
Is an aud ESPN? What do you mean you don't
like it, are you? You're not talking about what I'm
on TV.
Speaker 2 (01:42:21):
Are you? No? I'm talking about, like, you know, the
way they do the playoffs now, and you know where
they do what the top three and there and then
they do the next best two or three after that.
I don't like the way they do that. It should
just be each division winner and then the six next
best records would be the way I do it. That's
(01:42:43):
that's the best way to get it in there. Well,
I'll just tell you you didn't have the Rangers in there.
You didn't have the Islander's. No Penguins, no Flyers, no
Red Wings, no Bruins. There's not some major no Blackhawks.
That's some major cities, some major hockey places at and
get any playoffs. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (01:43:03):
You mentioned something on Roman numeral seven, Yeah, that I
want to get into. And I again, this might be
a little bit of a of a deeper conversation, but
you asked the question in Roman numeral seven of the
Roman numeral rundown tonight, are we getting too personal?
Speaker 3 (01:43:22):
And you brought up Halliburton's dad and his not just
his actions, but then the reaction to it.
Speaker 4 (01:43:28):
Right, Dion Sanders and everything that kind of took place
with Shador. Right, Well, you wrote down Dion, So I'm
following your lead, Arnie, and then Belichick and his girlfriend.
Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
And we're hearing a lot about her now coming out recently. Wow. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:43:46):
So I feel a little.
Speaker 2 (01:43:47):
Uneasy talking about the girlfriend of Belichick in a couple matters.
When she busted into a interview or it says we're
not going to talk about that, then she's fair gay.
The nine million dollars she's accumulated in real estate, that's
really none of our business, is it. That's that's you know,
(01:44:09):
we don't we don't deserve to.
Speaker 4 (01:44:11):
It's absolutely none of our business, right right, unless we're
one of the investors with her or something of that nature.
Speaker 3 (01:44:17):
And but I didn't even know why it was such
a big deal.
Speaker 2 (01:44:19):
Well, people think that Bill Belichick was getting taken advantage of,
I guess, and he was the one that was giving
up all this property. Did you know she dated a
sixty year old Yeah, a CEO of a health major
health company. So who knows to say that he didn't
give her any of the you know, real estate or
anything like that.
Speaker 4 (01:44:40):
Right, But listen, you're you're getting you're getting sucked in here. Yeah,
you just got sucked in. As Bill Parcells once said,
consider yourself sucked because you're asking why are we getting
too personal with the way we're covering sports right now?
And then you're just diving right in talking about millions
of dollars and everything.
Speaker 2 (01:44:58):
Well, how Burton's dad deserves it, right, I mean, that
was a situation that he went up against Yannis, who's
a major star in the NBA, So he deserves to
be talked about. I don't know if he deserves to
be thrown out of road games and home games. That's
that's crazy. You can't see your son play ever again,
So I think that's kind of nuts to be. That's
(01:45:19):
a harsh punishment if you're asking me. I think it's
not gonna be forever.
Speaker 4 (01:45:23):
I think it's gonna be one of those things where
he'll give like some heartfelt apology here in a couple
of weeks, and then he'll be able to watch whenever
they're playing against the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Speaker 3 (01:45:32):
But when you say are we getting too personal, like,
how do we dial this back?
Speaker 2 (01:45:37):
Then?
Speaker 4 (01:45:37):
Because every single one of these stories now you've wanted
to dive into them.
Speaker 2 (01:45:42):
Right, especially Dion too. I mean that was amazing story.
Speaker 3 (01:45:46):
Right, So when you ask are we getting too personal,
you're kind of telling on if you don't think we are.
Speaker 2 (01:45:51):
Okay, I guess it just depends on the story in
the situation. I believe with Belichick and the girlfriend, we
could be getting a little too personal. I don't think
the same is with the Dion Sanders situation or or
Haliburton's dad situation.
Speaker 4 (01:46:08):
Right, fair enough, then well I just feel like we're
getting too personal and everything. Oh I feel like, yeah,
I just feel like from you know, some of the
things that people feel like they can say, because what's
the best thing that can happen is someone to respond
to you.
Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
That's what you want. The best thing that happened is
Stephen A.
Speaker 4 (01:46:27):
Smith in the last three hundred and sixty five days
was Lebron James coming up to him courtside. Because Lebron
ain't gonna punch him, He's not gonna knock him out,
He's not gonna do any of that.
Speaker 2 (01:46:36):
After watching what Puka Nakua's brother did, you never know, right,
didn't he slap somebody a fan? Well? But he didn't
I'm just bringing up that point with Stephen A.
Speaker 4 (01:46:46):
Smith, and you know, the kind of idea where it's like,
I don't think some people feel like they get personal enough.
I mean, your boys, Kip Bayless, whom you love. I
don't know how you're making it without him being on
TV right now. I mean, that was his gimmick, right,
He is gonna make it where it was so personal
that you had to attack.
Speaker 2 (01:47:05):
Well, they talked. He talked about Lebron's you know, being
a father and if he's a good father and stuff
like that. Yeah, that's that's kind of personal.
Speaker 4 (01:47:13):
Well, okay, I just I was curious, like if your
concern was that we're going to weren't too intrusive, or
if you were just like, these are a couple of
stories that pequed my interest.
Speaker 2 (01:47:23):
I think we get too intrusive with Lebron sometimes, to
be honest, I really think that we find things to
pick on him about, and the media loves to go
to town on him.
Speaker 4 (01:47:33):
When come back to the Tyraq dot com studios, Oh gosh,
he I already did it. When we come back to
the Fox Sports radio studios. Let's get your tweets because
it's been a busy night so far on that front,
and Steve de Sager has one final up. They will
do it first.
Speaker 5 (01:47:47):
What's going on, Steve, Well, as you talked about what
channel is the hockey game on, there is no better
example than the two teams that just won these thrilling
game sevens this weekend, because the next round is Dallas
against Winnipeg, and over the next week, Game one is ESPN,
Game two is TNT, Game three as TBS, then back
to ESPN. If there's a Game six, it might be ABC. Wow,
(01:48:09):
et cetera, et cetera. And again, I think we all
agree playoff hockey particularly is sensational, and there's been some
thrilling games this year. Separate discussion is what America consumes
on television. And this past week we had five different
cable hockey games Tuesday and Wednesday. Not one of them
(01:48:30):
got more than seven hundred and fifty thousand viewers.
Speaker 2 (01:48:33):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (01:48:33):
Meanwhile, the Lakers Timberwolves opposite hockey on Wednesday got four million,
seven hundred viewers. So that's where it stands.
Speaker 2 (01:48:42):
I thought you were going to get say, like two
million or something.
Speaker 5 (01:48:44):
I will say that one small thing. It's not going
to make a huge difference in the ratings is that
there are still local channels that can carry the local
team early in the postseason. Tonight in the NBA, we
had the local cable networks for Golden State and Houston
and for their Game seven to end the first round,
in addition to what most of us saw on the
national TV. That's the last night that ever happens in
(01:49:08):
the NBA because the new TV contract starts next year
and first round on they have national exclusivity. You won't
see your local announcers on first round games in the
NBA starting next year. The hockey's been great for Canada
because who's still alive in the playoffs? Jets, Maple Leafs, Oilers.
Last time we had three Canadian teams still alive in
(01:49:31):
the Final eight was over twenty years ago, and the
Winnipeg Jets were dis close to being out. They tied
it with two seconds left in regulation. They had been
down three to one with two minutes left and still
beat the Saint Louis Blues, eliminating them in double overtime
four to three. The Jets, after the second period outshot
him thirty four to thirteen.
Speaker 2 (01:49:51):
Oh wow, that.
Speaker 5 (01:49:52):
Late time goal. The latest tie goal for any game
seven ever. Winnipeg plays Dallas in the second round. Jets
host game one on Wednesday. Check your local listings. The
Conference semis start Monday with Florida at Toronto. A couple
other game ones are on Tuesday. In the NBA Playoffs,
Who've got Boston hosting the New York Knicks on Monday
to begin a second round series. Celtics guard Drew Holliday
(01:50:14):
is due to return after a strained hamstring. Also starting Monday,
Denver at Oklahoma City. The second round act Oh well,
there's the kiss of death. Second round actually started today
at Cleveland, as the top seeded Caves were beaten at
home by Indiana one twenty one to one twelve. Donovan
Mitchell thirty three points for the Cavaliers, but from three
(01:50:34):
point range he was one of eleven, while the Pacers
as a team nineteen for thirty six on three pointers.
Pacers were down with six and a half minutes ago,
but took game one tyrese Haliburton twenty two points thirteen
assists for the Caves. Darius Garland was out again with
a sprain tow He also missed the cabs previous two
games and the first round did end with that game seven.
(01:50:55):
Golden State win at Houston one oh three to eighty nine.
Buddy healed thirty three points from three point range. He
was nine of eleven Steph Curry after a very slow
start twenty two points, ten rebounds, seven assists. Golden State
starts a conference semifinal at Minnesota on Tuesday. Scotti Scheffler
won by eight strokes in Texas. NASCAR winning Texas for
(01:51:17):
Joey Logano. Alex Pelot captured the IndyCar Race in Birmingham.
He's won three of the four events this year, and
in this one he led eighty one of the ninety
laps starting from the poll. The next race is on
the Indy Road Course, and then of course there's the
Indy five hundred and Late May. All IndyCar races are
on Fox TV this year. Tonight Sunday Night ballgame at
Atlanta went to the Braves over the Dodgers four to three,
(01:51:39):
two two run homers from Austin Riley. The lost to
Dustin May. Dodgers seven game winning streak is over. The
Padres won their fifth straight four nothing at Pittsburgh. Padres
have a record of twenty two and eleven. They're just
a half game behind the Dodgers for the best overall
record in the Majors, and the Padres are at Yankee
Stadium Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Yankees Today, we're down seven
(01:52:01):
to two in the eighth. Lost seven to five to
Tampa Bay. Victories for Washington, San Francisco and the Detroit Tigers,
who have the best record in the American League. They
won thirteen to one at the Angels, Texas eight to
one over Seattle. Cardinals swept a doubleheader from the Mets.
Kansas City hit seven home runs in a win at Baltimore.
In fact, there were eleven total homers in the game.
(01:52:23):
Ten came with bases empty. Minnesota with two runs in
the eighth, wound up winning at Boston five to four.
Red Sox first baseman Tristan Cassas is out for the
year after knee surgery. Cleveland won five to four at Toronto.
Winning pitcher Tanner Biby left with leg cramps. It was
Milwaukee for nothing over the Cubs, and the losing pitcher
for the Cubbies show to I Minaga left with a
strained hamstring. A's and White Sox each one Arizona in
(01:52:46):
ten innings, won at Philadelphia eleven to nine.
Speaker 2 (01:52:50):
Back to you, all right, thanks Steve, great, have a
good week, Steve. You know, it's funny.
Speaker 4 (01:52:56):
There's all kinds of good stuff on the to the
show tonight, but I it something that's not even on
our topic list, something that wasn't even on the row
of numeral rundown.
Speaker 2 (01:53:09):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (01:53:10):
Just based on one random thought that you threw out
there about Lebron James and what his future might look like.
Arnie theorized back in hour one, it's like, oh, maybe
he's just waiting until he can be a part owner
of a franchise and then play whenever they either move it.
Speaker 3 (01:53:26):
To or start in Vegas. And that'sh's been the whole
show on Twitter just by.
Speaker 2 (01:53:30):
Tom Brady pulled it off pretty easily, didn't he part owner? Well?
Speaker 4 (01:53:35):
I mean yeah, yes, but I think your idea and
my idea is that Lebron's going to be a much
more active and higher percentage owner than what Tom Brady is.
I don't ever see Lebron getting into coaching, do you, No.
Speaker 2 (01:53:49):
I don't think he's got the patience. That's a grind too.
Going on the road you're just it takes so much time. Though.
I don't see that happening at all. I don't think
he's gonna do that. Yeah, mean either, by the way,
I don't think he'd be a good coach either. I
don't think he'd be very.
Speaker 4 (01:54:02):
Good, kind of like when Magic said he he talked
about whenever Magic Johnson coached, he expected everyone to.
Speaker 2 (01:54:10):
Just be able to do things like he could. Exactly,
it's so good, Lebron.
Speaker 3 (01:54:13):
I don't think would have that page.
Speaker 2 (01:54:14):
I don't think he's got the patience to be a coach.
Speaker 4 (01:54:17):
Uh, mister nobody. The Warriors own the Rockets still, so
that means zero. They'll get beat in the next round
by the Timberwolves, and I hope the Jets will be
facing Vegas in the finals.
Speaker 3 (01:54:30):
Yes, I'm a shameless bandwagon Golden Knights fan.
Speaker 2 (01:54:35):
Well I'm not badwagon. Huh, but you don't have to,
I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:54:38):
Can you really be a bandwagon Golden Knights fan? They've
been around for like like maybe five six years. You're fan?
Well a bandwagon? Oh what was their first year?
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
Then? I have no idea.
Speaker 3 (01:54:52):
Now you've got to stop the show down. Let's see.
Speaker 2 (01:54:54):
I think it's like twelve years or something that what
here are we in right now? We're in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (01:55:00):
We're in twenty twenty five. The Las Vegas Golden Knights
first year was twenty seventeen.
Speaker 2 (01:55:05):
Okay, so eight years.
Speaker 3 (01:55:07):
So I was closer than you were by price is right?
Eye would have had shot.
Speaker 4 (01:55:12):
I think the stinking genius has been tapping into the
adult beverages if he thinks any good will come out
of facing the Celtics Miami and the Super Bowl made
more sense.
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
Does anybody not give the Knicks any chance whatsoever? What
are the Knicks like a five to one underdog, six
to one underdog in the series?
Speaker 3 (01:55:31):
Well there, what's the spread for tomorrow night?
Speaker 5 (01:55:34):
Nine and a half?
Speaker 4 (01:55:35):
I mean that's pretty indicase, pretty good indication you're gonna
have a relatively large number for their chances to win
the tournament.
Speaker 3 (01:55:40):
The series is you're the one that's talking all this
gas like it's done and it's over.
Speaker 2 (01:55:46):
I look, I didn't say it was over. I just
I like my chances. I think we're gonna take a
one plus three ten. Well that's terrible odds. Yeah, that's horrible.
We should be at least five or six one, not three.
Speaker 4 (01:56:00):
To one, and your overall finals odds are at plus
five thousand, so fifty to them.
Speaker 2 (01:56:08):
That's for the NBA Finals. I'd like to get a
little more money on that. Remember I had a bet
on that in Arizona. That's out the wind, though.
Speaker 4 (01:56:15):
What if the Knicks win it and you your bet
was ruined by your beloved Wildcats, I'll lose my mind. Well,
Arnie's picks are coming up next. But before we get there,
Hot too, I don't know if you even keep kept
track of your picks, to be honest, Well have it.
Speaker 2 (01:56:31):
I'm just saying I'm right Hot.
Speaker 4 (01:56:33):

Speaker 3 (01:57:15):
And twos and has always steve the Saga on.
Speaker 4 (01:57:17):
Updates, and the millions and millions of editors behind the scenes.
Ladies and gentlemen, we owe you one more thing tonight. Yes,
some say it's what you all came for. Others say
it's pointless. Wow, nobody says that it's time for Arnie speaks.
Everyone take it away.
Speaker 8 (01:57:34):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:57:35):
I've been red hot. I've been super red hot.
Speaker 3 (01:57:39):
What was your best pick last week?
Speaker 2 (01:57:41):
Everything? Everything I got right. I don't think I got
anything wrong, but I did get the Minnesota Lakers series wrong.
All right, let's go to Monday. Nicks and the Celtics.
I gave this out earlier. Nicks are a nine and
a half point dog. That's incredible. Taking the Knicks plus
the nine and a half in Game one, They're going
(01:58:04):
to win Game one. They're gonna pull off the upset.
So I don't need the nine and a half, don't
want the nine and a half. I'm gonna take it though.
I'm not an idiot, so give me the nine and
a half.
Speaker 4 (01:58:13):
Just said later today in this show, you don't want
the points, and you literally just said it.
Speaker 2 (01:58:19):
There. I changed my mind. I'm taking the nine and
a half, but we're gonna win the game and it's
gonna go over to twelve and a half. So I
feel confident in this one. I i'mah, healing good.
Speaker 3 (01:58:30):
You feel so good, You've already changed your mind once.
Speaker 2 (01:58:33):
I feel good with Denver plus nine and a half
over your Oka see Thunder, Yeah, you like losing money.
Speaker 4 (01:58:38):
I see Wow, that thing is ov e er. Thunder
might win by fifty tomorrow night.
Speaker 2 (01:58:45):
And I also like the over two twenty four and
a half in that one. I think it's gonna be
a high scoring game. By the way. Game two, we'll
go to Cleveland, they'll boat race. The Pacers tie that
thing at one game at piece late the nine and
a half, and I'm gonna be on the Timbers. Game one,
lay the five and a half against the Warriors. I'm
(01:59:05):
with Timberwolf fever.
Speaker 4 (01:59:07):
I think they're playing the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.
What I think it's OKAYC in Denver are OKAC in
uh Minnesota in the Western Conference Finals?
Speaker 2 (01:59:18):
You think, so, Uh why not? Remember I told you
we don't want Okac in Cleveland in the NBA finals.
You gotta get it, I hope not. All right, So
there you have my picks. Do with them as you please,
no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only. So there you go.
Speaker 3 (01:59:35):
I thought you had a lot of picks tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
I did the NBA, I didn't do the NHL.
Speaker 4 (01:59:40):
Well you're sitting here chastising me for not watching the NFL.
Then you don't even pick any of the games we got.
Speaker 2 (01:59:46):
We only got like a mid and ten seconds left.
I mean, what do you What do you want from me?
I do like to make believes over the Panthers.
Speaker 4 (01:59:52):
Do you want me to google anything up for you?
I mean, hey, come on, you're supposed to be working
during the show. I thought you had like a no baseball.
You don't watch baseball.
Speaker 2 (02:00:00):
I hate betting baseball. And it's game thirty out of
one hundred and sixty two. Really where you make the money?
Oh this is from the man who calls the preseason
the free season. Oh yeah, yeah, that's different. That's different.
Speaker 4 (02:00:13):
Come on all right, then, well, are you going to
make the track? Did you buy your thirteen thousand dollars
court side tickets or not.
Speaker 2 (02:00:20):
I am going down to New York tomorrow. Okay, so
I gets a short drive up to Boston. If I
want to go to Game one tomorrow, I'm thinking about it.
Speaker 4 (02:00:29):
Well, good luck with all of that art, Thank you,
all right. I have a great week next week. Next week,
you're not done. It's the following week, right.
Speaker 2 (02:00:36):
The following week, I'm going to Dominican Republic.
Speaker 4 (02:00:39):
I did have to laugh at this tweet from nature Boy,
who gets the Final War tonight, when he writes if
the Lakers, he said, I think the Lakers wasting an
opportunity the night they were eliminated. They could have had
Brownie just waste six fouls on Rudy Gobert. Send him
out there to play actual go bear. All right, Alarrety,
I have agreed. Great week, big bits coming up next.
We'll see guys back here next Sunday night on Fox
