Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Let's go, go, big boy, let's go.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Let's wrap up.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Let's wrap up the NFL season. Let's wrap it up.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
What would you rather talk about?
Speaker 3 (00:14):
Let's go. We'll talk about the NBA. We are the
New York Knicks. Let's go.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Let's go. Let's go.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
Do you want to get us fired in week two
if you try to do an NBA related show When
we had a day like we had in the NFL,
it's a great day in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Was it a good day in the NFL?
Speaker 1 (00:33):
Well?
Speaker 4 (00:33):
I mean the game was amazing. I thought your Dolphins
had pulled it off. Whenever who was an a chain
had stepped out of bounds. I mean, by the way,
the way, what clearly had stepped out of bounds.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
That's running. That's not the point though. What the referees
never called him out of bounds. That's why I kept running.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
He was out of bounds.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
Yeah, but that's only because they buzzed from above. That
was bogus.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
You don't think that they should buzz from above and.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
Reviews to call you miss the call? What can I
tell you?
Speaker 4 (01:01):
I mean, that's I don't know how to remind you
of this, but this is kind of in the rules
now for probably going on close to a decade.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
I can't do it anymore. I got to get a
new team. If the Giants won today, I was gonna
get back on the g Man bed. And you know
the team I pretend they like, And.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Like, what are you talking about? This is the easiest
schedule in the NFL. That's your quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
It's done.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
I mean, you cramp this down our freaking throats. All
off season, all we tried to do was yeah, we
might win them all nine B two and oh sock.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
You'll be in the first place. How about that.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
But more than anything else, we had to sit here
and be told how dumb and how stupid, and how
you're a better fan, and don't you do you not
watch football?
Speaker 1 (01:45):
So I don't know. I mean, carm kind of sucks
in this situation. Now, Please do not join the Seahawks
or or Vikings. Did look good today? Did?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
I'm taking to join a new team.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
I don't think anyone wants you on their team.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
I gotta get a new team. I can't do it anymore.
I can't be a Dolphin fan anymore. It's just too painful.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
There's no.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
I don't know if there's a fan base that experiences
more pain in any of the sports than Dolphin.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Fans are online.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
No, not even the Browns fans experience that much pain
like the Dophins.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
They do. Stop.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
They had a team move away from their city and
then what two or three years after they moved, they
won a Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
If the Dolphins moved away with anybody noticed, they don't
come out of the bars anyway. Nobody would notice. They
don't be down at South Beach. I go, hey, do
you know that the Dolphins left three years ago? No,
they wouldn't even notice. No, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
The Chargers are filing for fans, so join the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Isn't the saga a Charger fan?
Speaker 1 (02:48):
That's right. I can't do that.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
I'd rather get run over by a bus. I thought
that stop that.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
I thought.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
I remembered hearing though that this was an easy schedule.
If I thought this was the easiest schedule in the NFL,
and I thought that they were just hands down going
to dominate the worst team in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
They can't anybody, see, they just can't stop anybody. It's
killing Who's the number one picking the draft next year
for the Dolphins to take it.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Arch Manning. You got arch Manning coming.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Come on, man, everyone told me arch whenever I told him.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
To No, I tell you to stop with the arch.
Oh gosh, stop with the Arch.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Stop your revision is history is not not very good.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
I filled it on Saturday, and Gargano was yelling at
me about the whole arch Manning thing because I said, oh,
he looks real good. He's yelling at me. You yell
at me. The Sega Harmon yells at me. What's wrong
with you? For guys?
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Some's wrong with you?
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Guys?
Speaker 1 (03:47):
What are you talking about that? We yell at you
about the arch?
Speaker 4 (03:50):
What that you are sitting there telling us that, oh yeah,
he's gonna be the first pick in the draft.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Oh yeah, he's he's gonna be the guy. And I'm
sitting it the whole time, like, I don't think he's
very good.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Arnie, who I can't.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
We got to get another quarterback.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
And by the way, did the chemistry tutor. He's got
to go. I'm surprised he's still. I'd rather have to
Sean Foster as our coach right now.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
He does have an opening.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Now he's got to go.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
He and you know, I, I guess somebody who caught
heat was a Terry Bradshaw that caught heat for.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Calling him a nerd or something like that.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
So obviously just stick with the chemistry tutor that's been
more with us.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
For how many years now.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Seriously, he was looking at the playbook today like like
he was reading another language, Like, hey, I can't even
what place should I call? And he was like just
sticking his fingers. So, hey, this looks like a good play.
We haven't run this in two years, So.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
You want the LSU quarterback instead.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
He wouldn't know what his name is.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
I was gonna call him Hunt Singer ness Meyer.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
We're gonna see the Indiana quarterback. National TV's spire right now.
Let's go, let's go quarterback, let's go.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Let's do it right now. If you could promise me him,
I'll I'll do an er to seven tea. I can't
do this anymore, man. We the team is so undisciplined.
I mean to it. We have so many penalties. He
gets us up to the line of the scrimmage and
it's like I don't know what he's calling because the
offensive line remove every time every time.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
In fairness, you you don't really need to know what
he's calling. They're supposed to know on the field.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
So I know, but they move every time. What are
you doing? What does stop it? Whatever you're doing, go
on one, go on to change it up, do something
because you get a penalty every time.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
How about cave Klubnitt goes from a losing record now
up to a losing record in the NFL with the Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yeah, no, that's not happening.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Good news.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
Tankathon has you, guys projected to take an offensive tackle
with a third overall pick?
Speaker 2 (05:47):
You an offensive tackle?
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, that'd be fun. That would be fun.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
By the way, update, Sunday Night Football has not been
nearly as entertaining tonight as it was last Sunday Night
three twenty two to go in the game, and after
looking like the comeback player of the year and everybody's
pre season bounce back guy JJ McCarthy in week one.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
He tried to about him.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Of course, he looks absolutely horrendous here this evening.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
As the Falcons are up twel can I just get
to score out real quick?
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Go ahead? In fact, kids are up twenty two to six.
Go ahead, I.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Would just say that's the only quarterback.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
If I had, I'd actually cry instead of having Tua
is JJ McCarthy, I'd actually I would start to cry
on the air right now. If you told me, hey,
Tua got traded for JJ McCarthy, I would just start
bawling like a little baby.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
Didn't he play kind of mostly like this last weekend?
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Yeah, I mean, I'm sitting here just it's so funny
all these things that we had been telling is like, hey, dude,
you know there's issues there. No, No, don't you guys
know anything. I'm the real sports fan here. And how
can you blame Tua whenever he got sacked five freaking
times today, Arnie, he was twenty six of thirty two
for three hundred and fifteen are I know?
Speaker 3 (07:01):
But he makes so many Like I said, he doesn't
have a control of the offense. And you know, you
can only throw five yard passes every time and hope
to the team explodes.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
That's their offense.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Defensive league. They're just horrible. I mean they what was
the stat line on uh Drake May? Drake May is
a Hall of Famer after that game for.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Crying out were the worst offense in the AFC last
year and specifically the worst pass offense. Also put Drake
May in there. Three touchdowns, thirty three points, get a.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
W best best Gabe he's ever had in his life,
probably better since like he was in third grade or something.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
Belichick could use him right now.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Oh my goodness, man. I mean he'll have a pretty
good college career. But I mean, go ahead, Well that's my.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Only worry right now. If what's his face as our coach?
I think I'll really get ill Is Belichick?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
What's who? Belichick is your coach?
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (07:57):
If they tell ye that, which is the rumor?
Speaker 3 (07:59):
I'm here?
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Where's that at?
Speaker 2 (08:02):
You didn't hear that?
Speaker 1 (08:03):
No? I didn't hear Bilichick in Miami anywhere?
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Interception Jack Anne Saban to the Dolphins they're going to
co coach.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Co coach out there. No, I'm serious about Belichick. First
of all, it's in Miami. Okay.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
You may have heard that he does like the area.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
I hear he has.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
I thought you just told me that nobody cares and
that they're going to move. I thought that was because
he wants to go Fishering. What do you want from me?
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Man? They don't have any fans out there. Did you
see how many people went to the game. I think
like seven. All right, I wish I would have went
to the game. Good seats available.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
It was one of the cheapest tickets this weekend. One
of the shows last night went over there.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
How much was it like a dollar fifty?
Speaker 5 (08:40):
I think it was less than forty, which for an
NFL game is notable.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Forty dollars. Forty dollars, By the.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
Way, I do have a question interception. By the way,
this game is pretty much over. Yeah, that's twenty third
turnover tonight.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Is Mike Hopkins won?
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Thank goodness?
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Yeah, So I just want to pause for a moment.
You're you're saying that people are reporting about Belichick to
the Dolphins. Whenever, all I've heard was Colin Coward's kind
of hot take that they should consider firing McDaniel and
hiring Belichick.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
That's not really right. That's more just like our man
heard's opinion on things.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Oh you don't. First of all, nobody thank you Chris.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Nobody says to thank him.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Second of all, nobody reported it. Maybe I didn't hear
it on Colin Joe.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
I don't remember the Joe Burrow stuff tonight.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
It just makes sense.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
They have sources, that's right, way sense update on that
as we're sitting here, oh gosh, just painfully watching this
game come to an end. We do not have any
updates at least that I've seen, to say Goren, whether
or not it's confirmed that Burrow will need surgery? What
an update tomorrow morning?
Speaker 5 (09:49):
He is still Yeah, he's going to see a specialist. Okay,
still evaluating the options. But even if it's non surgical
the option, it's a multi week.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
Absence m He's gone for the rest of the year.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
According to Arnie source.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
According to Arnie Sources, you wanted here's something funny. Okay,
here's a because when I say that, I say that
with a medical degree. When I say he'll probably be
gone the rest.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
Of the year, what was your medical degree in.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
I read it off doctor Chow on Twitter, and he
has a medical degree. So if he says it, I
five repeat what he writes, it's like I got a
medical degree, right.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
You know, usually this show flyes by. It's going to
be a long show tonight.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Listen. If you guys want to get involved in what
we learned.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
From we got a lot of tweets.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
We're here all night long at Stinking Genius one. I'm
at Plank Show. Everybody please go follow us at Fox
Sports Radio. Did we get confirmation that Todd Furman an
hour two?
Speaker 1 (10:47):
Yes, Oh, yes, we got him.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
He not read the tweets we said.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
We said, no, I've I've stayed off my phone.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
That is another non surgical option. We are mulling over,
Todd Furman.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
Todd Furman, non surgical opt and you as always.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
Football season, by the way, when he's back, that's good.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
That's right, that's official, official, official. And I hope this
game comes to in because we got double header on
Monday night to talk about. I'm not kick what the
double header on Monday night? Well, I don't think you
really like anything right now? What did you your Your
Wildcats won a good game, that was all lot.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
We're not in the top twenty five, but thank goodness
I have them to save me. Where we have like
a three percent chance of going undefeated. Not what are
you laughing?
Speaker 5 (11:31):
Because Notre Dame is winless and they're in the top
twenty five. I know it is undefeated and it's not.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
They're not even getting votes.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
The last time we played Notre Dame, we beat them.
In South Bend. How about that, by the way, with
the Max with a Max and day house, like forty
eight yard field goal into like our hurricane win.
Speaker 5 (11:50):
Back in college days.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
I don't remember like nineteen let's say, nineteen eighty two. No,
stop it nineteen eighty four ish eighty three, eighty eighty three?
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Is it was nineteen eighty two eighty two?
Speaker 3 (12:04):
There you go?
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Yeah, you know, Arnie, these are real simple things to
like look up before you start talking.
Speaker 5 (12:09):
But he's anymore.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
I know.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
I can barely talk about the doc. I just want
to read with Jay Peachweet said. Gargatta was yelling at Arnie.
He said that Arnie was nuts, called him overboard Arnie
and said that Arnie needs to be medicated.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Well, has he never worked with you before?
Speaker 3 (12:25):
I got we've worked before. But you know what, I'm
starting to think there's something wrong with you guys.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
That's right, and not with the problem. I'm still calling
you overboard Arnie from now on.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
I know, right, maybe there's something wrong with you guys.
And it's not necessarily you know, people thought Einstein was crazy, right,
So I was asking, what is the brilliance? What is
the brilliance that we're missing out Einstein in this story.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Yeahm Einstein in that in that story there.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Well, Ty's got your back, he says. Arnie's telling it
like it is.
Speaker 4 (12:54):
And how dare Plank and the other host to yell
at the face of Weekend Fox Sports Radio Late night
Radio that's true?
Speaker 1 (12:59):
Are the face their delusional?
Speaker 5 (13:01):
I know this is even like a.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Bless his heart, tough day.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Aren't he sorry about that? I thought you guys were
gonna puy. It was terrible out of the gates. You
were down twelve zip before the game even kicked off.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
We didn't even get the ball.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
We had the ball like for three plays. They had
the ball for fourteen minutes. We had it for one minute.
It was really the worst first go I was like,
I can't. I was watching the whole game because it
was our local game up here, because they were playing
the Patriots. Seriously, what was Drake May's number? I don't
have him in front of me these.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
Again, He's something you could easily google up right, the guy.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
The guy looked like a Hall of Famer. I really do.
I really think it's the first time in my life.
I really do want to change teams. I would like
I'd rather be like a Stealer fan. But you know what,
that would kind of suck going to the playoffs every
year than losing and losing and losing and losing. And
what about the Raider fans, though, you guys kind of suck.
(13:55):
You don't even go to the playoffs, right, Yeah, I wouldn't.
I don't know. It would kind of suck being a
Raider fan. You kind of suffered all these years. That's
why you've been so gravvy.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
Listen, don't try to break. I'm not crabby at all.
I love football, I loved well. Years have been crabby.
You're the one that needs your team to be successful
to enjoy the game because you talk so much trashed
during the offseason.
Speaker 5 (14:15):
There was one reason the Dolphins were leading in the
third quarter of this home game today. It was seventeen fifteen,
and that's because the kicker that the Patriots had missed
his first two extra points.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Yeah, yeah, I saw that. I couldn't believe it was going.
Maybe I'll go back to being a Rams fan. I
used to be a really Oh my god, I used
to go to gain.
Speaker 4 (14:32):
Of twenty three for Drake May two hundred and thirty
yards best life.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
I don't really know.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
Like the ESPN they put with the QBR in the
rating is QBR was seventy seven point eight.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
His overall rating was one thirty seven point three.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
And he didn't turn the ball over on a day
when they didn't really run the ball that well either,
so pretty solid.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Wed we couldn't stop them.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
They look like the Rams best offense on turf. I
was crazy. We couldn't stop every third.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Down, vers down, vers down.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
Patriots penalty on the Dolphins, another penalty, another penalty. But
you know what, it was crazy. I was watching the
Giants in Dallas. Oh, and the flag on the thing
and he goes penalty on Miami. I goes with Mabbe
not even played in this game.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
You're calling penalties on that? Like, what was going on here?
Speaker 5 (15:18):
Did you know the Giants had six penalties on the
first drive today They benched the tackle in the middle
of the drive and it was getting that back.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
He had four right, four the first drive. He had
four himself.
Speaker 5 (15:31):
Apparently that's never happened before that on a scoring drive,
one guy commits four penalties.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Jeez, Well, give me the Dolphins a chance. They'll they'll
go ahead and try to bring.
Speaker 5 (15:40):
By the way, the Patriots did wind up with more
penalties twelve of them, yeah, to the ten of the Dolphins.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Out dare the officials.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
But then, of course, the call that everyone's talking about
tonight is the one that cost the Broncos the game,
the Colts, the worst.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Team in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
I still don't understand what what was the call that
they said it was a leaping because he put his
elaborate shoulder.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Is that what we can't I was just reading the
explanation from the official. It's bs. It's not it's it's
a rule. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying they
made it up.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
I thought he fell forward, put his hand on the
guy's shoulder, and then he jumped up.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
By no means did he use it as look you
can't you?
Speaker 4 (16:19):
Yeah, well that's what basically everyone else saw. That's what
we felt. But as the referee, Craig worldstat said, quote
for leverage, as an offender, you're not allowed to place
your hand on an opponent or teammate and push off
to propel yourself in the air to block a cake.
And they said ninety two came across the line to
(16:41):
the right guard, put his hands on the right guard
and pushed off him to elevate in the air in
order to try to block the cake.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
You're not allowed to.
Speaker 5 (16:49):
Do, You're correct. The exact rule is to gain additional height.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Okay, because I thought he was lost his balance, put
his hands on the guy's shoulder pad just to keep
him from you know, fallen down, and then he jumped.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
But he could have used it for leverage too.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
You probably, I mean, listen, you might be right. I'm
not sitting here trying to tell you you're wrong. Maybe
he did stumble and it was just to get balanced.
But I'm sure there's probably eight thousand screenshots out there
this happening like fifty times and never being called on
the other team. But Sunday Night Football will not end.
We'll talk more about that later on in the program.
Sunday Night Football will not end in the excitement that
(17:26):
we had last week. The Vikings faull to one and
one on the season, probably should be zero to two
after the Bears just wet the bed last week, twenty
two to six to the final. JJ McCarthy throws two
interceptions justin Jefferson, though he didn't have eighty one yards
receiving just three catches. I didn't see how many targets
(17:46):
he had. And me John Robinson, the Texas standout, had
his breakout performance twenty two carries one hundred and forty
three yards. The Falcons as a team averaged five point
six yards per carry.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
So not a great game, Arnie.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
But Atlanta gets to one and one, Minnesota falls to
one and one to kind of put an exclamation point
here on the second Sunday of the NFL season with
too money that football games, your man, Yeah it was.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
It was a dog of a game, but yeah, you're
right that and then we got the doubleheaded tomorrow. By
the way, am I going to be the happiest guy
in the world tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
I don't know why you got a parlay going or something.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
No, you know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
I don't read your mind, Arnie. And you didn't have
this in the Roman new role I did.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
This is Roman numeral number. Roman numeral number should have
been like number one. To be honest with you, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Did I not put this in any of the right
Like I.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Said, I haven't been on my phone yet today. Go ahead.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Well, the Tom Brady announcement.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
You texted me that this morning. Yeah, it's probably gonna
be some sort of vitamin line.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
I don't know. Some could be that he's coming to
play back for the Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Why would he be a part owner the Raiders to
come back and play for the Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
This, don't take it away from me. Give me a
little hope. Good we get some sleep for twenty four hours. Chris,
would you.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
You wanted him, you wanted him to retire near the
end of his career. Now you want him to come
out of retirement to be your quarterback.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Wouldn't that be great?
Speaker 3 (19:16):
If he said he was coming out of retirement tomorrow.
If he said I'm coming out of retirement and I'm
playing for the Raiders, here we go.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
He said he had a big announcement and then he's
gonna announce it on the air, So it's got to
be more than just some vitamin deal.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
I mean, why not?
Speaker 4 (19:32):
I mean how many have you do you feel like
you've had a big announcement that someone said they're gonna
make where you've been like, oh my gosh, this is amazing.
Nine out of ten times it's underwhelming. I've partnered up
with TikTok, and now you don't have a Tom Brady TikTok.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
When you say you have a big announcement, does it
usually have to do something with the show?
Speaker 1 (19:49):
You said you had a big announcement and announced you
were moving to Connecticut, which affects this show? Zero?
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Oh, it does affect the show a little bit.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
Why because I get to go to games.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Now.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
I get they're not going to games.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
That's how that's how.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
It changes up. But here you a line on the
air again. No I'm not lying.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
I mean they can go to games now.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
That's how it changes that though.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
But have you moved? How many guess have you gone to?
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:13):
I haven't moved yet. Yeah I'm not, but I'm gonna
be moving.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
There's a part of me that thinks he's not gonna move.
I think his wife's gonna be away from him. Be like,
this is pretty nice.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
Here a couple of months ago.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
Got a quiet around. It is pretty good.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
All right.
Speaker 4 (20:31):

Speaker 3 (21:52):
Alright, they've been alright, too many, you know, too many
ripping me about the Dolphins. I mean what I mean,
say what it's like to be already eliminated in the
second week, because, like I said, I'm a bigger fan
of the rest of you guys, and it just crushes me.
What am I gonna do now for the entire football season?
All I have is my Arizona Wildcats.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Better fan, and you're quitting your team exactly.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
That's my favorite part, realistic is what I am rather
than you guys.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
What were you not on YouTube?
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Why are we?
Speaker 2 (22:43):
All we have to do is put the camera on
on our computer?
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Right? Is that all we have to do?
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Or yeah, that's it? Just ask Lee to laugh about it.
It's all you do is just put a camera on
your computer and do it.
Speaker 3 (22:54):
Everybody's got it going. I don't know why we can't
do it. I don't think any other weekend show has
it going. I think they do well if they do
it from the studio, they do.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
I think go to l A. Then why not?
Speaker 3 (23:05):
Because I usually do the show it out my shirt on.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
That's right, I think that's what everyone wants to see.
You really want to end up making some major coin,
take a shirt off and do the show my Arizona.
Speaker 1 (23:19):
I thought you said you had a shirt off.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
I put my I always put Lyre. I always put
my Arizona shirt on when we win. And I'll be
worrying it a lot this year, that's for sure.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
I was surprised to beat Kansas State. Not gonna lie
that was. You tried to salt, you tried to wein it.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
I like a stool man.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Stop it.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
I don't beat them like a stool.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
You on about I'm ashamed of our next game, to
be honest with you, we usually we don't schedule junior colleges.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
I don't. I don't think i've ever heard beat them
like a stool in my mother.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
Yeah, we'll look it up.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
I am, and it doesn't exist.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
Do we have a junior college next game?
Speaker 1 (23:58):
Who do you have next game?
Speaker 2 (24:00):
We have a bye weekend.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
Then we have Iowa State junior college.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
I was states ranked.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
Are they a junior college?
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Yeah, they're a junior Should you go in ames Iowa Arnie,
who's currently sitting at four to oh on the season,
in ranked number twelve and will be a probably pretty
decisive favorite against.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Your wildcat.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
Stop?
Speaker 1 (24:20):
Have you not learned your lesson about talking all this trash?
I'm saving this segment right now.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Hows you go to the game?
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Man, I'd be great with my Arizona stuff.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
And because nobody ever goes to away games with their
their team's jerseys.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
And you'd be doing something that no fans there do
they like?
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Do they sell out their games?
Speaker 4 (24:40):
Or is like ten people go Again, I just want
to remind you how well all your gas talking did
with the Dolphins this offseason.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
I'm just asking, like I said, usually we don't schedule junior.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
College you you're in the same conference as them.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Now, Oh, really, get out of here. Yep, we've got
a junior college at our conference.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
Well, you're in their conference. Actually, they've been there and
they gaved you from purgatory.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Because you was state. You said, I was never heard
of him, never heard of him.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
You're gonna know him here in two weeks.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
They don't have everybody famous other than brock Party.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Well, brock Party was a quarterback for what We've never
heard of him, but you knew that.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Heard of it from there.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
Never heard of him, brock Party, never heard Breese Hall,
never heard of him by never heard of no clue.
All right, we got your tweets to get to, but
let's try to stay on the clock.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Tonight.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
Steve de Saga is in the house and we've got news, notes,
highlights and everything in the NFL in week two for
a Sunday is a final?
Speaker 1 (25:35):
What you got going on to Saga?
Speaker 5 (25:36):
Fellow Charger fan, Well, if you missed the Sunday night
football game, can honestly say you didn't miss much.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
You're good.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
It was fifteen to six late in the game at Minnesota.
All on field goals Atlanta twenty two to six is
the final. Minnesota with four turnovers, eight penalties, Atlanta on
red zone tds one for five. That was the winning side.
JJ McCarthy was sacked six times. Phildelfia won at Kansas
City twenty to seventeen. Patrick Mahomes one TD pass, one
(26:05):
TD run and one very unfortunate interception off Travis Kelcey
at the goal line. They lose by three. The Chiefs
are zero and two. The Eagles are two to oh.
Indianapolis edged Denver twenty nine twenty eight an unlikely field
goal on the final play, a forty five yarder wins it.
The Colts had missed a sixty yard attempt, but Denver
was flag for leverage a fifteen yard penalty. The rekick
(26:28):
was good. The sixty yarder right before that was short,
didn't even make it to the crossbar. Arizona b Carolina
twenty seven to twenty two. Cardinals were up twenty seven
to three late in the first quarter. Travis Hunter of
the Jaguars about forty snaps on offense, about forty snaps
on defense today. Jacksonville lost late, though thirty one twenty
(26:48):
seven Cincinnati the final. The Bengals are two to oh
after a late quarterback sneak to win, finishing up a
fifteen play ninety two yard drive with Jake Browning at quarterback.
Thet guns Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow left after being sacked
in the second quarter. It's a toe injury, surgery is possible.
The NFL network report tonight is that Burrow is feared
(27:10):
to have suffered a Grade three turf toe injury. If
it's Grade three, it would require surgery and a recovery
period would be at least three months. Now until tonight's game,
the NFL this weekend had ten different contests that were
within one score in the fourth quarter. You had Cincinnati
with a game winning score in the last minute. The
(27:31):
Colts as well and Dallas won in overtime. That was
a wild game, forty to thirty seven over the Giants.
In ot Brandon Aubrey tied it with a sixty four
yard field goal at the end of regulation. Baltimore got
four touchdown passes from Lamar Jackson and beat Cleveland forty
one seventeen at Detroit, five td passes for Jared Goff,
(27:52):
Lions fifty two to twenty one over Chicago, road wins
for the Rams and the Patriots, road victories for Buffalo
and San Francisco each two and Ohero and Seattle won
at Pittsburgh thirty one seventeen Kenneth Walker on thirteen carries
at one hundred and five yards and a touchdown. UCLA
Football fired coach Defont Deshaun Foster, and also after an
(28:13):
zero to three star Virginia Tech fired coach Brent Pry.
The top three and the A people stayed the same,
Ohio State, then Penn State, and LSU. The Seattle Mariners
won their ninth game in a row. Cal Raley it
his fifty fourth homer of the year. Mariners beat the
Angels eleven to two, and Seattle is now alone and
first in the AL West, a game over Houston, which
(28:34):
lost eight three at Atlanta. The lost to from Berveldez,
Dodgers and Padres each one. LA still two and a
half games over the Pods. Dodgers have won six of seven,
and the Dodgers will be hosting the Philadelphia Phillies in
a series starting Monday night. The Phillies have clinched a
playoff spot, and they've all but clinched the NL East.
The Mets did win in ten innings today on a
(28:55):
Pee Alonzo home run, got five to two over Texas
that ends a Mets eight game losing streak. The Philadelphia
loss was ten to three to Kansas City, but Kyle
Schwarber the Phils did hit his fifty second home run.
Milwaukee lost, the Cubs won, Toronto won again, and Arizona
won six to four at Minnesota Diamondbacks. Only two games
out of the last NL Wildcards bought the Red's loss.
(29:18):
They are two and a half out. WNBA playoffs started today.
New York won in overtime, but Brionna Stewart left late
with a knee injury.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
Back to you, thanks, by the way, Aubrey sixty four
yard field goal. He's the first kicker ever to kick
a field goal with no time left in the game
to put it in overtime, and then with no time
left in overtime for the win. First kicker ever to
do that.
Speaker 5 (29:38):
That's right because this was the end of the ten
minute overtime period, the forty six yarder that wonted.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Yep, nice, I gotta tell you something.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
If I am the if I'm the Falcons right now,
and this is by no means because I know you know,
you change teams, change kickers a lot. Young Huku is
get giving them a lot of great kicks throughout his career.
Speaker 5 (30:02):
That is his name. Now, who who.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
But now after Parker Romo tonight, I gotta think like
old young Houku might be looking for a new gig.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
I was impressive, you know, he looked really good.
Speaker 5 (30:14):
Had missed the game the field goal late in last
week's game, so they didn't fire him, they didn't cut him.
Notice that they benched him, and they brought Romo from
the practice squad and he went five for five on
field goals tonight.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
M Hey, do you I'm starting to read everything here
on the injury to Joe Burrow, and I think Jake
Brown is a good quarterback. Listen, I know that the
Bengals are too and zero. They haven't had to start
like this in a while. I mean, listen, they if
the dopey Jaguars coach just kicks a field goal and
(30:47):
doesn't try to go for it with the worst play
call on fourth down with I don't even know if
there was two minutes left in the game, then Jacksonville
probably wins that game. I mean, if you're the Bengals
right now, you're in big trouble. And if I'm Burrow,
I'm I don't know how much of a fit he
can make, and I know what his contract situation is,
but this is the third time where he suffered something
(31:10):
that isn't like a non contact when he's running around Arnie.
That isn't some sort of just slip on this side.
I mean, it's literally because his offensive line is trying
to get him killed. Fimingly happened every single time.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
In the five or six years he's always been healthy,
one completely year, one complete year. Otherwise he's had nagging
injuries throughout all his other years out there. They do
have a little bit of a break because I know
they get Minnesota and Denver coming up. Minnesota doesn't look
like they're all that daunting, Detroit and Green Bay after that,
and then Pittsburgh, the Jets and the Bear. So a
little bit of break with the Jets and the Bears,
(31:43):
But overall, you can't keep ducking people throughout the course
of the schedule. I don't even know if Burrow is
going to be back this year, to be honest, with
the fact that they're two to zero, the record might
not be looking all that bad. You're right, He's not
that bad of a quarterback of filling, wasn't he three
and two?
Speaker 1 (32:00):
Is this Jake Browning?
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Yeah, Yeah, I don't know, maybe he's got a lot
of talent around them, so he don'tough to do it
by himself. Chris and like, hey, remember what I said
last week. Starting quarterbacks going seventeen starts, those days are
gonna be over. Burrow's not gonna make it. Breck Perty's
not gonna make it. His feels with the concussion. Is
he gonna get this? I don't even know if he's
(32:21):
gonna start next week. That's three. Off the top of
my head. We're just in week number two. How many
quarterbacks did we think we're gonna start all seventeen games
this year?
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Well, probably none whenever all his head and none.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
Take but less than half, but maybe way less than half.
Speaker 4 (32:37):
He went four and three to Jake Browning as a
starter in twenty twenty three with the Bengals, did not
start a game in twenty four. This is his seventh
season in the league. For Jake Browning, which is wild
because I mean, I still remember him in his Washington days.
Seventh season in the league, Arnie and for four years,
(32:58):
two of the Vikings two before he had to start
the seven games in twenty twenty three. He didn't take
an NFL snap, so he was in the league for
four years with both Minnesota and Cincinnati and never took
a snap in a game.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
That'side the preseason.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
That's crazy, and he's got to be the guy. There's
no trade, there's no move that they're gonna make. No
one's coming in to save the day. They got a
hope Burrow's healthy. And again I'm getting a little overnice
keys here because I'm just watching all of the doctors
on Twitter, which I know makes you a.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Doctor, Arnie, Yes, but it doesn't look good.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
It looks like surgery is going to be necessary based
on what they're all saying right now. So that means
he's gonna be out for three months.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
Maybe you call the Giants. They've got three quarterbacks. They're
not gonna give up Jackson Dart, but you know, maybe
they'll give up Jamis Winston. Just a thought, there is
that an upgrade over Jake Browning. I don't know, not sure,
you know, And I.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Don't know what Zach Taylor's history is, if he's ever
coached him before, if Jamis has been in that offense.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
But hey, Russell Wilson, he looked pretty good today. He did.
It's still over time.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Oh my goodness, man Russell's back. It was unbelievable. It's
the best I've seen him since he loved Seattle.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
Well, let's talk about that game next. And are you
okay if I get to these tweets now when we
come back?
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (34:15):
Well, ok, all right, that's teinking genius one. I'm at
Plank Show. Everybody, come hang with us. We're recapping week
two and we got two more games to go. We'll
preview those as well right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 6 (34:26):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
All right, it's Ardy Plank come to you live for
the Fox Sports Radio studios. Let's hit some of your
reactions to week number two, which again we have two
more games tomorrow night, Raiders and the Chargers. And then
I again, I'm not a big fan of the doubleheader
on Monday night football tea.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
I don't like that. Don't like it.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
But any chance I get an opportunity to watch my
Raiders play, and then I get Baker beforehand, let's go.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
Nine o'clock your time for the second game.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Huh, yeah, ten o'clock your time. There's no way you're
even gonna be up for kickoff.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
No, I don't think so. I'll be up for the
first half. That's what part is.
Speaker 4 (35:13):
You're telling me that you won't go to bed till
eleven PM on a scool night.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Maybe does something.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
My Arizona Wildcats started at nine o'clock at night on Friday,
didn't finish till like twelve thirty, twelve forty five. So
I went to bed at one o'clock in the morning, right,
And I had to be up at five to fill
in with Gargano, so I and then I almost had
to be up at four. I didn't know if they
(35:38):
were gonna have the show before me, so it would
have been you know, five to nine.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
But what do you mean you didn't know if they
were going to have the show before you. Yeah, it
was there was a new show that was starting, and
you didn't know if they were gonna have it.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
Yeah, so I might have had to work an extra hour.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
So you just you found that out literally by setting
your alarm or well.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
No, I found that out as I was watching the
Arizona game.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
Yes, a lot of.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
Well that's nice. You had heads up on So that
was good about that? What was Gargano mad at you about?
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (36:08):
When I said everything? He says, I have sports.
Speaker 5 (36:10):
A D D.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
So oh yeah, I mean, do you listen to this show?
I told them a great story. I'll tell you I
founding from the story. I don't think I ever told you.
I'll tell it to you next hour.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
You'll love it.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
It's a good one.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
I'm pretty sure I've heard every story, but we'll find out. Yeah,
you fee.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Me on Twitter rights.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
Let's talk about how trash the Chicago Bears are. They
need to be put on blast for that pathetic effort
to day.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
Yeah, you need to apologize.
Speaker 1 (36:40):
I'm not apologizing for kill you do.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
About the Caleb Williams is cale Williams a good Yeah,
stop it.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
He's good. They look terrible. They look terrible today. I
mean they're not protecting him still. Yeah, sacked four times.
I'll tell you what I thought it was. I thought
it was going to be a tight game early. He's
like fourteen to seven, and I red zoned all day.
All day I found out I had the red zone.
I didn't know I had the red zone. It was
very surprised. I usually have to count on my man
(37:07):
Shady Sean for twenty to find my red zone streams.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
But so I just sat and watched it, and they were.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
Going to the game a lot early, and then all
of a sudden, only they stopped going to the game.
And when they stopped going to the game, You're like,
oh no, and I'm not kidding. Scott Hanson at one
point goes, well this was close. Now all of a sudden,
here's another touchdown. There's another touchdown, and it's like thirty
eight fourteen. You're like, well, all right, and this got
out of control.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Who would you rather have Caleb or Tua?
Speaker 4 (37:34):
Well, I mean too has been in a league longer.
He's shown a little bit more track record of success.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
So I would rather have Caleb or Tua.
Speaker 1 (37:42):
I just said Tua.
Speaker 3 (37:43):
Okay, that damn right.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
You would You just tried to get rid of him
in the first segment, You crazy person.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
You were ready to have Tom Brady come out of retirement.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Well tom Brady's a whole different story.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
But yeah, when he hasn't When was the last time
Tom Brady took a snap in the NFL?
Speaker 3 (37:59):
Doesn't matter. He could be eighty years old, I'd want
him on my team.
Speaker 4 (38:02):
You answer the question, when was the last time Tom
Brady took the NFL three years ago? Yeah, and you
would rather have him age your quarterback in a new offense.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
He didn't play all that bad, but he has no
control of the team.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
He really doesn't.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
And Tyreek Hill throwing antics because he missed him wide open.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
Don't need that garbage.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
You know what I mean? We just don't need that.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
Yeah, Michael Mulllett goes. Can you guys talk about how
bad Caleb Williams is. I wouldn't punt on him, but
he has not looked good. H truck stop fungus. Quite
the Twitter handle? Quite the Twitter handle? Yeah right, start
with the false start by the Eagles that wasn't called
during the tush push. It's becoming more apparent the NFL
is one hundred rigged and I'm about to turn it
(38:48):
off and watch wrestling that's more believable than this nonsense.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
You know, I'm not kidding around Chris, and I don't know.
Maybe we say this every year, but it seems like
the officiating.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Is just you say this every year.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
No, I'm telling you right now, I know I've done
this show with you for eleven years.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
Yeah, you say this every single year.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
It just seems like there's so many mistakes in college.
The games I'm watching in college, they're constantly making mistakes.
I mean, these guys are horrible at their job, but
it just seems in the NFL that they've made so
many bad calls. They're lucky they're getting saved by replay.
Otherwise they'd make so many mistakes.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
Maybe that's part of the reason why they do have
replay as to fail safe.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
It kind of helps them out in those instances.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
Maybe it's not as I don't know, fine tuned as
it once was, because they know they have the.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
Eye and this guy to bail them out.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
That should have been a ref should have been a ref.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
Tennis data rights. Both New York teams are terrible. Indy
might be the surprise of the NFL so far. And
can we check to see if arch Manning was adopted.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
I try.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
I tried to tell you about Daniel Jones. Give you
a little credit for that. I tried to tell you, Arnie.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
You said the Colts were going to be the worst
team in the.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
N I tried to tell you Daniel Jones was a
real quarterback, and you laughed at me.
Speaker 4 (40:10):
You said that in like week seventeen last year, everybody else.
Then you changed your mind midway changed my mind about
Daniel did not. And then you said that there's no
way he's going to start. Anthony Richardson will be the
quarterback and the Cults are going to be the worst
team in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
Don't remember saying that. Uh?
Speaker 4 (40:31):
And then one more here, the people need another Arnie
Miami Dolphins melt down.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
Throughout the show tonight. That's when Joe Judges burning.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
We got two more hours for that.
Speaker 4 (40:41):
Well, I think we've pretty much had it already. But again,
so this is your own fault. You have nobody to
blame but you. We try to tell you, We try
to tell you, but I do kind of dig. I
do kind of dig seeing what is happening with Daniel
Jones and the cultus right now. It's been a fun story,
even though they got a big break to that game today.
All right, Todd Furhim is coming up next hour. That's
(41:03):
one hour in the books with Arnie and Plank right
here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
Too.
Speaker 4 (41:09):
Arny in Plank Fox Sports Radio Show two for Arnie
on the weekend You can also catch that podcast with
him and Anthony Gargano. Any good throwouns between you two?
Speaker 3 (41:20):
Oh yeah, yeah. He he gets fed up with me
real quick, says I had sports a d D like
my take on Arch? You know what?
Speaker 1 (41:30):
I what is your take on Arch?
Speaker 3 (41:32):
And he gets mad when I go, well, the show's today, Anthony.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
And he gets right, But there's also a logic factor
that goes into that, you know, and you tend to
throw that out the window with the show today, like
no one's gonna remember you said it.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
Yeah, he gets He gets all frustrated with you.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
What's your bosses? Don't let that guy work with me anymore?
Speaker 3 (41:50):
I get.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
I told him I'm available.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
I was in Philly this weekend too, so I could
have been hanging with Anthony Gargano.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
What is your Arch take?
Speaker 5 (41:58):
Not the guy?
Speaker 3 (41:59):
Well, I just told him, I go, you know all this,
look how great arches. He's certainly not living up to expectations.
And then he's like, oh, you're gonna use two games?
Speaker 1 (42:08):
Yes, well the.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
Show's today at today, you know, what do you want
from me?
Speaker 4 (42:12):
Well, you're also kind of I mean, well you didn't
have his second game whenever that show was was on.
I mean you didn't have the performance against you tap
when that show was on, right, I mean he was terrible. Yeah,
he's terrible.
Speaker 3 (42:25):
And I send something to Gargano at that like in
the third quarter, and he started yelling at me.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
Did you ever hear back today he started yelling at me.
Speaker 4 (42:34):
Well, I think, by the way, on college football, just
a real quick snippet from week three this past week
at Arch is not going to be that bad all
year long. But I think he's hurt. I do think
he's shart. I think something's going on with his shoulder.
H Steve Sarkijan has been very coy when it comes
to these types of situations. He was like that with
(42:55):
quin you weres all year last year and then all
the season's always like yeah you oh you had a
torn shoulder thing and this was he had broken this,
and I just I think they're doing the same thing here.
I don't think he's this awful. But I don't think
Texas is a top fifteen team. I think they're good defense.
I don't think they're top fifteen team. We'll find out.
By the way, you have two coaches fired in college
(43:16):
football today.
Speaker 1 (43:17):
Yeah, neither one of them. I think marquee jobs anymore.
Speaker 4 (43:20):
You know, UCLA has tumbled, Virginia Tech has fallen completely
off the face of the earth since Frank Beamer had
Probably one of the most unlikely programs to ever play
for a national championship in the history of college football
is Virginia Tech when Mike vic did it?
Speaker 3 (43:36):
Right?
Speaker 4 (43:36):
But you know what this does trigger, don't you? With
these two coaches being fired.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
You have the portal, right, that's right, players on.
Speaker 1 (43:43):
The portal opens. I wonder if ull uh.
Speaker 4 (43:46):
I wonder if old Niko iam Aliava might be thinking,
I really screwed.
Speaker 1 (43:50):
Up coming out west. But we'll see are coming back
home for him?
Speaker 3 (43:54):
Here? He already left.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
I think he already left UCLA. Yeah, are you sure
you didn't fall for a fake?
Speaker 3 (44:02):
I'm pretty sure it said I thought I sent something
to you as a matter of fact, that said that
he was going to take the rest of the year
off for his mental health. Is what I thought I
read there. And if I didn't send it to you,
I I think I put it out on my Twitter then.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
Arnie, I think he might have fallen for something.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
Yeah, did I fall for a fake one? There?
Speaker 1 (44:24):
Yeah? How are you sure about that centel. It's not
that's not a real one. But let's just turn.
Speaker 2 (44:30):
Yeah, are you sure?
Speaker 3 (44:32):
Did? I?
Speaker 1 (44:32):
I have it on my arnie. Let me tell you something.
Speaker 4 (44:35):
I know you don't you think that you watch a
game and you cover I cover college I live eight, sleep,
breath college football.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
That's my numeral. You know job that I do.
Speaker 3 (44:46):
If if there was a situation where Nico had said
I'm sitting out for my mental health, it would be
the most talked about thing right now on my Twitter.
I don't know I'm doing one that I had it?
Speaker 4 (44:58):
Yeah, yeah, I don't. I don't think you would have
some sort of scoop.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
On that at all.
Speaker 2 (45:03):
But I don't see it, so I don't have to
see what I well, it's not real.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
That's probably why you don't see it. Thanks number number
one from this weekend.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
I guess these teams that are all flexing about their
defense really don't have one. Notre Dame really don't have
one Georgia because, holy smokes, Joey Aguilar was throwing bombs
all over the place on Georgia. They barely escaped with
a win. And I'll tell you what, Notre Dame's owing
two yeah, and I know we can have that all
the best oh and two team and college doesn't matter,
(45:34):
aren't they're ohing too? And I know, I know you
have Notre Dame honks out there that are telling you, well,
they can still win their next game, the win ten row,
just like did last year.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
Are you are you calling out Brady Quinn? No?
Speaker 1 (45:45):
What did Brady Quinn say?
Speaker 2 (45:47):
Well, you said Notre Dame honks, that's.
Speaker 3 (45:49):
All you know.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
I'm talking about the fans.
Speaker 3 (45:53):
Okay, I thought you meant Brady Quinn.
Speaker 4 (45:54):
No, I don't need a fight with people like you do.
They're not a you want to make the playoffs if
they win their neck, everyone's.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
Like, oh, they're in. They they let's say they run
the table going.
Speaker 4 (46:05):
What if they're sitting there at ten and two and oh,
I don't know, A and M's there at ten and
two as well. I mean A and M's going to
get that nod over Notre Dame. Miami's going to get
that nod over Notre Dame. Notre Dame by no means
is in a position to where they are have. First
of all, they got to win a game. Secondly, they're
on to two and they're still ranked and third if
(46:26):
they've lost a couple of key head to heads with
teams that they might be battling for whenever it comes
to that final playoff spot.
Speaker 1 (46:32):
First time, I think they're in trouble.
Speaker 3 (46:34):
Yeah, first time since what nineteen eighty eight a team
is zero to two and been in the top twenty five.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
Oh, really, has it been that long?
Speaker 3 (46:41):
Nineteen eighty eight? It's been since and only two teams
breaking to the top twenty five.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
I'm observant, No, no.
Speaker 1 (46:49):
They don't. All right, So Todd Furman's coming up in
a bit.
Speaker 4 (46:50):
Anything else from college that you want to get to
before I move back to the NFL and the Roman
numeral rundown here.
Speaker 3 (46:56):
Just very proud of my Arizona wildcast Friday night.
Speaker 4 (47:00):
Is there anything else that you could talk about in
college football than your Arizona Wildcat.
Speaker 3 (47:04):
I was watching all the games this week, and nothing
really crazy in the top twenty five, though. There were
some good games that not youre Dame game against that
was just fun to watch.
Speaker 4 (47:15):
You had, Yeah, the game of the Year in the
app Well, actually Clemson Georgia Tech was pretty good too
with the Georgia Tech win. But yeah, the Game of
the year between Georgia and Tennessee, and then you had
the game of the year like three hours later between
Notre Dame and Texas A and M.
Speaker 1 (47:30):
It was an incredible day for college football.
Speaker 4 (47:32):
Now coming up in our final hour, we always play
the game after week two.
Speaker 1 (47:38):
We know this.
Speaker 4 (47:39):
But Arnie, you added something I find quite interesting here
in Roman numeral ivy and for the kids out there,
that's Roman numeral four. Yeah, teams and players, you want
a mulligan on?
Speaker 1 (47:49):
Now?
Speaker 4 (47:50):
Yeah, question when you say you want a mulligan on,
is that the Royal US when it comes to the
predictions and the thoughts are just the teams in generals?
Speaker 1 (47:59):
In the movie that they made.
Speaker 2 (48:01):
More more about the Royal Us?
Speaker 1 (48:03):
You know.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
Okay, just so you and I. But with the way
people were talking.
Speaker 3 (48:07):
Before the start of the season, okay, where are you looking? Well,
let's I'm taking a mulligan on the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 1 (48:14):
Oh no, now you can't start there. Now you can't
start there. Why can't I start there? You know where
you need to start the Dolphins. You ruined our entire
summer with Dolphins talk. So please take your mulligan.
Speaker 3 (48:26):
Yeah, the I mean look, oh and two and we
knew it was going to be a problem.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
I told you.
Speaker 4 (48:31):
You never told us anything that's gonna be a problem
with the Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (48:35):
I remember, I was, I was. I can't take it anymore.
We haven't even started yet.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
Yeah, and you settled on fifteen and two as the record.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
No, I didn't go back to fifteen and two. It's look,
I had, of.
Speaker 1 (48:45):
Course, I got to know you.
Speaker 4 (48:46):
I have all of these rundowns that are on our
Twitter are a text threat that we can go back to.
And I know the shows tonight, but I can't have
you be lying. Why are you always lying?
Speaker 3 (48:56):
I'm gonna have to have our producer go ahead and
erase all those that you still have out there. But
you're right, I have to take a mulligan on the Dolphins.
I mean, look, I did think that they'd fight it
out with the Bills for the division. But their defense
is atrocious. Man. They can't stop anybody. They're breaking records
about teams scoring against them like it's going out of style.
(49:17):
It's just it's hard to watch the football team, it
really is. I don't think I could watch them anymore.
I need a new team.
Speaker 1 (49:23):
Well what's uh, what do you think in as far
as a new team is concerned. Right now. You know,
you always have kind of said you're a Giants fan, So.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
I am a Giants fan who's thinking about them. I'm
so desperate now. I was gonna jump on the Jets bandwagon,
but they look like they're crappy again also, so I
don't think I could jump on them.
Speaker 2 (49:40):
That's a team you need to take a mulligan on.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
People.
Speaker 2 (49:42):
Watch out for the Jets.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
You know they're probably gonna be good this year.
Speaker 2 (49:45):
Watch out for the Jets.
Speaker 3 (49:46):
You gotta take a mulligan on the Bears too. Oh,
watch out, man, The Bears is really gonna start things
up this year. Caleb Williams Now, now he's really gonna
go and light it on fire.
Speaker 2 (49:57):
What a bunch of bologney that one was.
Speaker 4 (49:59):
By the way, I want to take you back to
Roman Numeral seven from August sixteenth, Miami, twelve and five,
first place, number three on Roman Numeral seven to a
big year who wrote that I can.
Speaker 1 (50:14):
Send it right back to you if you'd like it.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
Twelve and five.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
I said, yeah, twelve and five, first place, first place.
Let's hope they turn it around quickly.
Speaker 4 (50:24):
But you did mention in Minnesota in there, and I
was listen, I'm not ever the dude to pat myself
on the back with my elbow or anything, because I
got a bad elbow right now. But I have not
been a big JJ McCarthy guy. Even after his big
second half, I wasn't a big guy. And he won
a title, crammed it in my face whenever he was
in college, but it's not like he was the driving
force behind it. There's a lot of nerds on Twitter,
(50:48):
film nerds that have basically I don't know. I think
they have a poster of JJ McCarthy over their bed
with the wather. They talk about him every single night.
I don't think he's going to be that dude. And
that's two games in a row that my Minnesota. Well,
Minnesota got beat tonight badly by Atlanta. They really didn't
have any business winning in Week one against Chicago. So
I'm with you on that. Those that were all in
(51:10):
on Minnesota, I think it's mulligan. How about this. I
know it's early, and I know there's a long way
to go, but give me a mulligan. On Kansas City,
I really expected the Chiefs to go out and kick
the snot out of the Eagles today.
Speaker 3 (51:22):
I really didn't the minority and people were saying that
the run of the Kansas I Chiefs over that was
a big topic during the summer this year.
Speaker 4 (51:29):
Well, I know, but that's just because everyone wanted to
talk about They wanted to talk about Travis Kelce and
they wanted to talk about Taylor Swift.
Speaker 1 (51:39):
But I just it's the Chiefs. It's the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (51:43):
Patrick Mahomes is still their quarterback, coravs Kelsey still there,
Chris Jones is still anchoring their defense. They still have
the dudes. Andy Reid still their head coach. But that's
I mean, they got smoked by the Chargers. I mean,
that's one thing we didn't talk about from Friday night.
They got smoked last week and then just they I know,
people were complaining about the offensive lineman in the early
(52:05):
movement by a guard buddy. That ain't gonna win the
game for the Chiefs. If that call pushes back Philly
five yards, they Philly's defense, which is a completely new
world this year personnel wise, with so many of those
key cogs that moved on.
Speaker 1 (52:19):
Arnie. I don't know about you.
Speaker 4 (52:20):
I thought they looked really good today, So I might
be taking a mulligan on the Chiefs right now.
Speaker 3 (52:24):
You know what's official today too, On this day, September
fourteenth to twenty twenty five is the official day that
this officially now on this day, it's like a holiday.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
Now, we could.
Speaker 3 (52:36):
Officially never ever ever compare Patrick Mahomes to Tom Brady anymore.
That's enough of that nonsense. Okay, let's stop that. Okay,
what do you mean? Why not stop it? All right?
Speaker 1 (52:48):
That's because they're zero and two, because.
Speaker 3 (52:50):
Mahomes is never gonna go ahead and sniff a super
Bowl again.
Speaker 4 (52:53):
Okay, well listen, let's and now lighting up there, francis
no settle down just a bit.
Speaker 1 (52:59):
I don't. I don't need you to be putting that
out in the ether.
Speaker 4 (53:02):
That's the last thing I need to see on that
Cheef videos, You and your dopey taken.
Speaker 1 (53:07):
They're never going back to us. I can see it
right now.
Speaker 4 (53:09):
And they're playing in the super Bowl after reeling off
fifteen there, those.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
Days are over.
Speaker 5 (53:17):
Oh v e R.
Speaker 3 (53:18):
It is over for.
Speaker 2 (53:20):
The Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
Forget about it. Travis Kelsey might as well just get
married right now. It's done, done so well, there went
the fun of did you see did you see how
Taylor Swift went into the game today?
Speaker 6 (53:33):
No?
Speaker 1 (53:33):
I did not.
Speaker 3 (53:35):
Is this another fogus story that I saw?
Speaker 2 (53:37):
I saw video of it. It's gotta be true.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
I saw the video.
Speaker 4 (53:40):
Okay, Like I said, I'm just you'll have to tell
me because I completely missed it.
Speaker 3 (53:43):
She was going to through the lounge and it's not
an open lounge really, I think it's just to go
to the suite. You know what I'm talking about, m hm.
And the best I could describe it is, you know
how you have like lunch room tables and you fold
them up and they stick straight up and on like
wheels and you could roll them around.
Speaker 4 (54:03):
That's going to be a reference. It's going to be
lost in a lot of people. But I know exactly
what you're talking about.
Speaker 3 (54:07):
They have a divider and they stretched out the divider
on wheels so nobody could see her walking to the suite.
Speaker 1 (54:15):
I ran a report that she wasn't at the game today.
Speaker 3 (54:19):
I got the video. I'm not the only one that
saw the video.
Speaker 4 (54:22):
Okay, Well, I just I was reading let's see here,
the always reliable zoom Bangling news. Yeah, that she wasn't
going to be there, which probably, but the New York
Post that she made a quiet entrance, so.
Speaker 3 (54:35):
Yeah, we weren't allowed to look, so I don't.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
I don't care, you know what.
Speaker 4 (54:40):
The other thing I want a mulligan on right now
is trying to bury the Lions after week one. Now, again,
the Chicago Bears might not be very good, and it
might be that the Packers are really good, Arnie, but
I tried to bury the Lions after week one. I'll
go ahead and take a mulligan on that. I thought
there might be a little bit of extra grace from
(55:02):
from Dan Campbell because it's his former offensive coordinator, but
they were actually chanting f Ben Johnson throughout Ford Field
near the end of the fourth quarter. I mean it literally,
I mean, what more could he do for you Lions fans?
I get it that you're probably mad he went to
the Bears, But okay, it's the third time that the
(55:24):
Lions have scored at least fifty points under Dan Campbell,
and prior to Dan Campbell's arrival in twenty twenty one,
Detroit had only three other instances of fifty or more
points in a game.
Speaker 1 (55:36):
Ever.
Speaker 4 (55:37):
Wow, Ever, and it's the third time they've done it
under Dan Campbell since twenty twenty one.
Speaker 3 (55:41):
So hey, maybe they're gonna be okay with a new coordinators. Yeah,
Lions fan, you jump on board. Maybe not packer fan.
I have pictures of me and the Packer mobile and
me hanging out and having lunch with Brett Farr. Maybe
I'll be a Packer fan.
Speaker 4 (55:55):
Well, you know what sucks is all it takes is
one Dolphin win for you to say that you're back.
So I don't really I don't really know if that's.
Speaker 3 (56:03):
No, even if we want Today, I was gonna say
it was delaying the inevitable. If I knew how to
spell inevitable anyway, I would have said, you're delaying it. It
wouldn't have happened.
Speaker 1 (56:11):
No, you would have been worse.
Speaker 4 (56:12):
So bad you you absolutely would not. I mean, come on, dude,
we've done this long enough. I'll tell you what I
saw something today. I saw a spark, all right. Any
other mulligans you want to take before we grab a
break and get Todd Furman in here.
Speaker 2 (56:26):
I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (56:28):
Well.
Speaker 3 (56:28):
There was one team that's actually two and zero. I
said they weren't going to be very good and I'm
sticking by it. And the the weakest two and O
team right now.
Speaker 4 (56:40):
Indianapolis, San Francisco. They just won with a backup quarterback.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
And I hear Willard saying, oh, you know, it was
pretty good. I don't care if they just beat the Saints.
I'm thinking to myself, you're looking. If they would have
lost today, I would have fired you, Willard.
Speaker 1 (56:57):
That's impersonation. I mean, I from that other good one,
though I don't think he sounds like that.
Speaker 3 (57:03):
But you can't be losing to the Saints. They're a juggernaut.
But I don't buy into them. I don't think they're
gonna go and be able to fight it off with Arizona.
Speaker 4 (57:15):
And in the Rams, Arizona looks good. Rams didn't look
all that great and took them a while to get going,
but Cardinals look damn good.
Speaker 1 (57:21):
All right.
Speaker 4 (57:22):
When we come back to the Fox Sports Radio studios,
it's time to talk to the Man, the mid the Legend,
Todd Furman as we look back from a numbers in
a Vegas perspective on Week two in the NFL. Next
with Arnie and Plank on Fox Sports Radio, Let's go
straight to Vegas, our man. Todd Furman joins us with
Arnie and Plank here on a Sunday Night recap in
week two. Todd, good day for the books. What kind
(57:44):
of stood out? What jumped out at you?
Speaker 8 (57:46):
Oh, the final results of the night. Definitely way that
went the way of the house. They were happy with
the New York Giants signing every which way to potentially
give the game away against the Cowboys. Would have preferred
an outright win there. But for the most part, you'll
not exactly great decisions when you look up and down
the board, with some of the more popular public sides
all getting you to the window, whether it's laying the
points on the road with the Rams backing the Buffalo
(58:08):
Bills on the road against the Jets, or a couple
of other decisions that worked out the way they would.
Speaker 1 (58:13):
Have drawn it up.
Speaker 2 (58:14):
Todd.
Speaker 3 (58:14):
Week one, the Unders what twelve and four? I think
this week the Overs kind of caught up?
Speaker 1 (58:20):
Are am I wrong on that?
Speaker 7 (58:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (58:21):
Over did exceptionally well, especially in the early slate. I
think last check they were eight and one, and then
you go through the four late games, modest two and
so with the Marque game between Philadelphia and Kansas, city
coming in under the total, and it's typically a good
thing for the house when Sunday Night football works out
in their favor. But the one thing that we haven't
seen so far this year is an upset of substantial magnitude.
I mean, it feels like the three point underdog is
(58:43):
the biggest upset we've had. Whether it's Atlanta knocking off
Minnesota tonight or the Chargers having pulled off the upset
against the Chiefs back in Week one, you still haven't
had one of those seismic shockwaves sent through the week.
Speaker 4 (58:55):
How quickly do you start hitting the panic button in places?
Well Chicago, I mean, I think it's a good place
to start.
Speaker 1 (59:03):
Not good.
Speaker 4 (59:05):
Probably should have one week one, but man, they were
completely overmatch today. How quickly are you Pannikin If your
Bears ownership, I think.
Speaker 8 (59:11):
You're definitely concerned. You spent a ton of offensive draft
capital and you're not even getting Luther Berden and Colson
Lovelan on the field. I'll be at just through two games.
But at the same time, your defensive line is a
major Achilles coo. It was a group that provided absolutely
no resistance in Ben Johnson's homecoming with Detroit piling up
the offense to the tune of fifty plus points. So
I think there are definitely some concerns that are beginning
(59:33):
to mount. And we'll see exactly what Chicago can do
this week against the much Maligan Cowboys defense. But you
start owing three, the Boo Birds will continue to get louder.
And it's a fan base that expects a lot more
something that they haven't gotten when you look at what
their draft capital has yielded them under Ryan Poles the leadership,
and quite frankly, it ain't a.
Speaker 6 (59:50):
Whole hell of a lot.
Speaker 3 (59:51):
Todd talk strategy with me. What's going on with Joe Burrow?
We know he's going to be out. So as a
professional gambler, are you just waiting for the line for
the next game and go against Cincinnati? What about the
season win total? Do you wait for that to get adjusted?
Do you go with the under? Or do you say, well,
you know, Browni's not that bad, babe, We'd just keep
everything going. What do you do with that situation?
Speaker 8 (01:00:12):
Well, Cincinnati is a team that I actually met under
the win total before the season started, And if you'd
have told me that they want each of their first
two games the way that they've gone out there and
done so, I'd have probably laughed at you and thought
I was in a real good position. Now entered Jake Browning,
and look, Joe Burrow, absolutely not. But at the same time,
he's not just a guy that's going to sit there
and hold the clipboard. As he showed today he was
(01:00:32):
more than capable. After throwing three interceptions in the game.
I was kind of erasing all of that and leading
Cincinnati to victory, not just for a game tying field
goal and playing NFL Roulette in the extra period, but
getting them across the finish line with a game winning
touchdown drive. And here they are going on the road
against the Vikings team that I'm sure will look significantly
better next Sunday than what we saw tonight given the
(01:00:52):
defensive matchup. But at the same time, you know, Cincinnati
still has plenty of weapons on that roster. They're just
going to have to try and hope that their defense
continues to approve under Al Golden's leadership. But I don't
make the drop off nearly the same for Jake Browning
now as I would have if we had this discussion
a couple of years ago. Without any data points us
as a reference.
Speaker 4 (01:01:10):
Got so todd real quick pause on football because we
had a big fight last night. We had a chance
to see Vegas host the Canelo showdown Bud Davis. I mean,
what'd you think overall of the way that Bud Crawford
excuse me, Mark Davis was talking about how incredible it
was to actually hosted at Allegiance Stadium.
Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
What'd you think? What was the buzz like around it?
Speaker 5 (01:01:31):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (01:01:31):
An outstanding event and you know, people love UFC and
I can understand it. It's never been a sport that
I followed all that closely. But a big prize fight
like what we saw last night still is what Vegas
is known for. I had to do so in that
kind of venue on the platform where people were able
to access it across the world on Netflix. You know,
massive numbers there. And it's a fight that you probably
(01:01:52):
would have liked to see a couple of years ago.
But full marks to Bud Crawford for what he was
able to do after a long layoff, stepped up in
weight class and took care of business in a pretty
dominant fashion in my opinion. And Canelo, like the champion
that he is, you know, has a nine figure payday
coming his way, but handled himself with nothing but class
in the wake of a defeat. So those are the
(01:02:12):
kind of things that you'd like to see in the
boxing ranks. And maybe with the power that you have
with the Saudi's, Dana White and company behind it, this
can just be a harbinger of things to come and
they can continue to bridge the gap between a lot
of the independently affiliated boxing associations and you know, something
that's really deprived the sport of getting the marquee fighters
in the ring when they're actually both in their prime,
(01:02:32):
not looking for a payday like we're going to see
with Mike Tyson and Floy Mayweather.
Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
Todd back the football time. Can I get.
Speaker 3 (01:02:38):
Odds on the Dolphins to go fifteen and do this
year win the last fifteen games?
Speaker 8 (01:02:42):
Or what you tell me what number you want? Not
going to be big enough? The question is can the
Dolphins be competitive on a short week as nearly a
two touchdown underdog in Western New York but not exactly great,
although they did take money from professional betters. Today we
saw the Dolphins go from right around to pick them
or minus one close as much as the two and
a half point favorite and looked like they were going
to find a way to battle back after getting another
(01:03:04):
slow start. But the biggest win for the Dolphins aren't
he after ten drives of allowing points, they're not forcing
a punt of their opponent. They were finally able to
force a punt on the Patriots opening drive of the
second half. So it's little things that go a long
way for a franchise that's struggling to put a competitive
product out there.
Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
It's horrible. It is absolutely horrible that you know what,
can you bet on who's going to be the first
coach fired? It's got to be McDaniel.
Speaker 8 (01:03:26):
Yeah, he is an overwhelming favorite to be the first
coach fired. But you know what, if you had the
foresight to see it coming, I mean, you might have
been able to get a decent price on on Foster
Brent Prye. We're given their walking papers only three weeks
into the college football season. But I just think it
speaks volumes about what we've seen from UCLA and the
effort that I wouldn't even describe as an effort yesterday
(01:03:47):
for Virginia Tech the first half.
Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
Not kidding around, criminal dominion not kidding around. I thought
New Mexico was actually going to beat UCLA.
Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
What the what was the money line on that one?
Speaker 8 (01:03:57):
Well, right around six to one, and the logos and
you know the way that they did it. They hate
UCLA in the mouth, ran the football right down their throat,
and there was nothing fluke like about them pulling off
the upset in Pasadena. And I think it was just
the energy and effort that probably had the UCLA Board
of Regents and their athletic department go, you know what,
we've seen enough. This isn't going to ahead in the
right direction, especially knowing that those paychecks still haven't cleared
(01:04:20):
for Nico, given how the return on investment looks. After
watching Joey Aguilar go out there and damn near lead
an upset for the volunteers against Georgia and Eland on.
Speaker 3 (01:04:28):
Saturday, Yeah, that's right. It worked out well for Tennessee. Hey,
real quick final thought from me on the NFL. I
know they got a break at the end of the game,
but you're buying any Colt stocked right now in that
AFC South there now.
Speaker 8 (01:04:40):
Look, Shane Steiken, I think finally as a quarterback that
can do some of the things he wants. It's not
like he forgot how to coach football when he left
Philadelphia as offensive coordinator, and Daniel Jones his credit staying
in the confines of the system. They're getting blocking up front,
they have a deeper receiving core to pair with Jonathan Taylor.
What was most impressive about the Colts effort today They
did so touch of various award without a couple of
(01:05:01):
other key contributors on the defensive side, I improved that
they could go out there and win in a shootout.
So this is a cool team that has, no doubt
opening eyes and a division that I think is as
wide open as any in football. When you consider Jacksonville
blowing a glorious opportunity to get a road win. Houston's offense,
you know, hasn't gotten on track at least in one game.
We'll see what they put forth against the Bucks tomorrow
and the Tennessee Titans, we know were in full blown rebuild.
(01:05:24):
So fun game next week, Indy going on the road
laying a field goal in the division, but change Sdiken
definitely deserves a ton of credit for how that team
has performed, especially offensively through just two weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
Todd last thing. I don't know if you know. I'm
an AP voter. I had Arizona number one in my poll.
I just won the ring a few Did you see
some of the stuff some of the voters that that
was just way out of bounds last week with their votes?
It was absolutely crazy, you know.
Speaker 8 (01:05:49):
I mean, honestly, Arnie, the next time I look at
the AP pole might be the first. When it comes
down to it, I think a lot of that stuff
is he used more for headlines and you begin a
question some of the merits for the people that are
out there ranking teams. But credit full credit to your Wildcats.
An impressive performance Friday night, I'll be it. You would
have liked to see them find a little bit of
separation when Kansas State couldn't get going offensively. But the
(01:06:11):
real season for them will start and in two short
weeks when they go into Aims for their conference opener
against the Cyclones, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
We'll crush them. We don't lose the teams like Iowa
State Junior College. We don't do that.
Speaker 8 (01:06:22):
You know, if you get a win there, you get
two home dates against Oklahoma State and YU and people
might start believing down there in Tucsons, let's go, and
it can be a dark horse in the conference.
Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
Three percent chance so winning the championship, Todd you look at.
Speaker 8 (01:06:33):
That three percent chance of winning what the Big twelve Championship?
Tell ain't the national Championship.
Speaker 3 (01:06:38):
I think it's the National chans pointal three maybe, Yeah, I.
Speaker 8 (01:06:42):
Was gonna say point over three might be more in line.
But hey, look, miracles happen every day, especially in the
Big twelve, and when they have an auto bid, all
it takes is the seat at the table.
Speaker 4 (01:06:51):
My friend is stable, all right, Dot, have a great week.
Speaker 8 (01:06:55):
Always a pleasure, gents.
Speaker 1 (01:06:56):
You guys do the same, all right. That was Arnie's
interview with Todds. A few questions.
Speaker 4 (01:07:02):
Sorry, here's Steve Sager with what's training right now in
the world of sports?
Speaker 1 (01:07:05):
What's going on?
Speaker 3 (01:07:06):
Wait till the saga. Here's my story on my h
that I'm gonna do next hour. I think he'll love it.
Speaker 5 (01:07:11):
I think I might stay tuned.
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
Yeah, you might like that one.
Speaker 5 (01:07:13):
Of course, you know, we don't have a choice here
in the same Wow. By the way, you mentioned Mark Davis.
His Las Vegas Aces won their seventeenth game in a
row tonight to open the w NBA playoffs. Rip Seattle
wins such a good wins also for it like Jerry Jones.
Good owners for Minnesota and Atlanta as well. New York
won an overtime in a Game one, but Brianna Stewart
(01:07:36):
left late with a knee injury. The format for their
postseason three rounds. This is only a best of three
first round. Next is the best of five best of
seven finals. As I noticed is well, let's see. It
starts the first weekend of the baseball playoffs, so by
all means, expand your.
Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
Do it against Monday night football.
Speaker 5 (01:07:53):
I think that's a football season, and then start your
finals opposite football and baseball.
Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Good idea good.
Speaker 5 (01:08:00):
Very good thinkey NFL Atlanta won at Minnesota tonight, twenty
two to six. It was fifteen to six late in
the game, all on field goals Minnesota with four turnovers
eight penalties. Indianapolis b Denver twenty nine twenty eight on
a forty five yard field goal on the final play.
Arizona was up twenty seven to three late third quarter
and won twenty seven to twenty two over Carolina. Philadelphia
(01:08:23):
won at Kansas City twenty to seventeen, so the Chiefs
are zero to two for the first time in over
a decade, first time with Mahomes as there call.
Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
Owing threes eys since he's been in high school.
Speaker 5 (01:08:34):
That's astounding, Really is astounding. Eagles two and oh, by
the way, and yes, we do have two games on Monday,
Tampa Bay at Houston, then Chargers at Las Vegas. The
Dallas win in overtime forty to thirty seven over the Giants.
It was Detroit fifty two to twenty one over Chicago.
Jeredgo five touchdown passes Cincinnati's two and oh after edging
(01:08:55):
Jacksonville thirty one twenty seven on a touchdown with about
twenty seconds left. It came on a quarterback sneak from
Jake Browning at capped a fifteen played ninety two yard
drive late in the game. Browning with three total touchdowns
three interceptions. He was in there because the star quarterback
Joe Burrow left after being sacked in the second quarter.
Hobbled to the locker room with a toe injury, had
(01:09:16):
an MRI. He's in a walking boot. Surgery is possible
to Major League Baseball. The Red Sox tonight at Fenway
got six runs in the first inning and held on
six to four over the Yankees. Aaron Judge did hit
his forty eighth homer the win to Boston's Garrett Crochet
sixteen and five. He struck out twelve tonight in six innings.
But the Blue Jays are the first place team in
the Al East, now four games up on the Yankees.
(01:09:39):
There's only two weeks left in the baseball season. Toronto
won at home eleven to two against Baltimore. The Jays
have won four straight. Shane Bieber got the win. Dodgers
and Padres each one. LA first in the NLS, still
two and a half games over the Pods. Dodgers have
won six of seven. They won ten to two at
San Francisco today. The Giants still have a chance for
the postseason, their game and a half out of the
(01:10:00):
last NL wildcard behind the Mets at a loss to
Robbie Ray the win to Tyler glassnow of LA. He
pitched into the seventh inning. I mentioned the Mets. They
did end an eight game losing streak, getting a game
winning three run homer in the tenth from Pete Alonzo
to beat Texas five to two. The Rangers still two
games out of the last AL Wildcard in Cleveland, only
two and a half behind for that. Kansas City won
(01:10:23):
ten to three at Philadelphia, but Kyle Schwarber of the
Phills hit his fifty second home run. Aaron Nola went
six innings, six runs allowed, his era's over six. He
took the loss. The Phillies will be at Dodgers Stadium
starting on Monday. Philadelphia has clinched a playoff spot. They
can clinch the NL East title tomorrow. The Dodgers essentially
have to sweep this three game series to have a
(01:10:45):
shot at avoiding the first week of the playoffs. They're
not going to be getting a first round by because
the Phillies have been that much better than LA, especially
in the last month or two. And Seattle one it's
ninth straight. Caw Roly hit his fifty fourth homer of
the year eleven to two the final over the Angels.
Cal Rally has tied Mickey Mantles record for home run
switch hitter in one season.
Speaker 1 (01:11:06):
Back to you, unbelievable, unreal.
Speaker 4 (01:11:08):
All right, here's some of your tweets that have been
rolling in throughout the night. It stinking genius one, I'm
at Plank Show. Everyone should go follow us at Fox
Sports Radio. Brendan Wright. A team I need to take
a mulligan on is the Chargers. I thought they'd be
in third place in the AFC West behind Denver and KC.
K C doesn't impress me anymore, nor does Denver's offense.
In fact, with the way things are going now, case
(01:11:31):
could finish last. All right, Hey listen, Brandon, it's zero
and two. Everybody just settled down right now. I am
writer Rob jaysmon on fire. He said my choice for
the new Dolphins GM, Lewis Riddick compared McCarthy to Mahomes.
Maybe I need to reconsider GM choices. Sorry, Arnie, who
(01:11:52):
do you wanted your new GM? Because there's no way
they're both going to keep their jobs.
Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
No, that's not going to happen. I don't know. Gosh,
it's such a us out there. I don't know if
it's good. It may take years to go ahead and
get them back on track. They're not even close. Like
I said, the defense is so crappy, and they really
they only have two weapons offensively. It's embarrassing, absolutely embarrassing.
(01:12:16):
There is also a Roman numeral rundown from like August
eighth where you had them.
Speaker 1 (01:12:21):
Fifteen and two.
Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
So you have that in front of you and got
it right here. I didn't see it, really, I could
scare fifteen too, huh.
Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
Fifteen and two?
Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
Yea, gosh, I hate you.
Speaker 4 (01:12:32):
Easiest schedule in the NFL. In fact, I think you
even went as far as saying easiest schedule in NFL history.
Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
Is what you said for the Miami Dolphins, and we're
rowing too.
Speaker 4 (01:12:43):
I think you even bet your job that they would
beat the Colts. But there's no need to rub this
in too terribly much.
Speaker 3 (01:12:50):
No, no, not at all. I'm sure you're not enjoying
this at all.
Speaker 1 (01:12:53):
Well, if you wouldn't have crammed it down our throats
all summer, maybe we wouldn't.
Speaker 4 (01:12:56):
This one's from Colin Colin Wrights. It's only week two.
But if Daniel Jones keeps playing well and winning with
the Colts and the Giants don't, when does his new
success become an indictment on Brian Dayball as an offensive mind.
Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
I don't know if it's going to be on him,
but I knew he could play a little bit. I
knew he wasn't as bad. Did have flashes? Looked it
was the reason why they gave him a contract extension
because of what was it a good playoff game or
a good couple of games of the ad At the
end of the year, he did have flashes, but now
he's playing much better, there's no doubt about that.
Speaker 4 (01:13:31):
Yeah, and those flashes were few and far between, but
he had him.
Speaker 1 (01:13:37):
Mister nobody.
Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
Are people now trying to make excuses for Casey being
zero and two by blaming the tush push today? Do
they think the NFL would fold up if the Sainted
Chiefs didn't make a deep playoff run?
Speaker 1 (01:13:49):
Maybe so?
Speaker 4 (01:13:50):
And then kmark right, Artie, I am a Nigerian prince
and you have won three hundred million dollars in the lottery.
We kindly contact me at your earliest convenience, so I
transfer that money to your bank.
Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
What are you saying, I'm naive or something. I don't
get that.
Speaker 4 (01:14:04):
Well, I mean you did have Nico dropping out of
school for his mental health, so that.
Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
Was not a true story.
Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
Then I'm wrong about that. I can't find it what
I did with that story. Maybe maybe I didn't send
it to you. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:14:17):
Well, it is h yes, it is very much a fact.
I just want to say I was not paying attention,
but as soon as I heard Nigerian Prince, I both
it up. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:14:27):
I think he's trying to say that there might be
a little bit of everything that you would fall for
in the world of Twitter.
Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
And I didn't fall for that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
Breaking news all the time, all the time. We got
a break.
Speaker 4 (01:14:40):
When we come back, Steve the Saga is going to
get a squat up on all the news notes and
nuggets we need to know. After Week three the college
football season, in week two of the NFL, right here
with Arni and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. Here he
is the man, the myth, the legend, Steve de Saga
with this segment.
Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
What's going on?
Speaker 5 (01:14:57):
Steve, Hello, Chris, Hello Prince, thank you. Let's get to
the NFL news, because we had a Super Bowl rematch
today and the Eagles beat the Chiefs again. This was
twenty to seventeen in casey. It turns out that eleven
times we've had a Super Bowl rematch, that is, the
two that were in the Super Bowl immediately the next
season they meet in the regular season. The team that
(01:15:18):
wins the Super Bowl usually wins the rematch as well.
Eight of the eleven including Philadelphia today and two of
the big differences in this game. I mean, Patrick Mahomes
did have a touchdown pass and a touchdown run, but
that interception off Travis Kelcey at the goal line meant
that Casey got no points out of that. Meanwhile, Jake Elliott,
the Philly kicker who last year from fifty yards and
(01:15:42):
out was one for seven, made field goals from fifty
one and fifty eight yards today and in the opener
he hit a fifty eight yarder while Kansas City missed
a fifty eight yarder in the first quarter. Today, Chiefs
lose by three. Mahomes seven carries, sixty six yards rushing.
How about Isaiah Pacheco carries twenty two.
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
He's not getting it done. They have no weapons, too
many injuries.
Speaker 5 (01:16:04):
Could still use tackles too. Saquon Barkley eighty eight yards
rushing in a TD although did you see the young
tackle run down the guy running back the Kelsey interception?
Just astounding speed for a tackle. Aj Brown five catches
but only twenty seven yards. Not much offense from Philly,
but they did enough to win and they're two and
zho Jalen Hurts one touchdown run only about one hundred
(01:16:26):
yards passing oh and two records for the Chiefs without
wide receiver Xavier Worthy due to the dislocated shoulder. Rashi
Rice out with the suspension. Philadelphia tight end Dallas Goddter
was out with a knee injury in this one. They
had eight kickoffs in the game total, no touchbacks in
the game at Minnesota tonight, nine kickoffs, only two touchbacks.
(01:16:47):
At Indy twelve total kickoffs, one touch back.
Speaker 3 (01:16:50):
Where do you get at the forty righty year five
now thirty five?
Speaker 5 (01:16:54):
So it's motivating the kickers to put it in the
landing zone in the red zone instead of just kicking
it directly to the end Why would you run it
out of the end zone when you can just start
a drive on the thirty five?
Speaker 3 (01:17:05):
How about the guy for Pittsburgh today?
Speaker 5 (01:17:07):
Astounding?
Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
Is that amazing? Absolutely?
Speaker 3 (01:17:11):
You're on the kickoff for team, kickoff return team and
you don't know the rules of the game.
Speaker 5 (01:17:17):
I don't know the rookie, and I don't care if
it's a new rule, it's your job.
Speaker 3 (01:17:22):
Forget about it even being a new rule. He touched
the ball. Everybody knows when you touch the ball. It's
a hot ball. It's live.
Speaker 5 (01:17:28):
We're talking about the Steelers rookie Caleb Johnson. They lost
it home to Seattle, and this was a tie game.
Early fourth quarter. Seattle kicks a fifty four yard field goal,
takes the lead, and then they kick off and the
kickoff appears to bounce over the head of Caleb Johnson.
Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
They touched it.
Speaker 5 (01:17:44):
He treats it like it's a dead ball and seems
to start walking off the field. Seattle's still running down.
They recovered it in the end zone, back of the
end zone. Touchdown Seattle. It's a few seconds ago. Tie game.
Now they're up by.
Speaker 3 (01:17:57):
Ten and yes, and he's looking around talking to the
to the rough like what happened? What happened?
Speaker 5 (01:18:03):
He declined to say afterwards if he knew the rule.
I think we just to be clear the new NFL
kickoff rule. Any ball that lands in that landing zone
between the goal line and the twenty and goes into
the end zone, it still has to be downed or returned.
It's a live ball. He just handed Seattle a touchdown.
(01:18:24):
Astounding Kenneth Walker in that game on only thirteen carries
for one hundred five yards, rushing and a TD Jackson
Smith and Jigba eight catches for one hundred three yards.
We also had teams going to two and oh that
missed the postseason entirely last year, San Francisco and Arizona,
for example, Cincinnati Las Vegas could tomorrow they're hosting the
(01:18:45):
Chargers two and oh Indianapolis two and oh. And remember
they've scored on every possession. I don't know who they
played last week, but they scored on every possession, and
then they scored their first three offensive possessions. Today, the
Colts have become the first team in the history of
the NFL to score on their first ten possessions of
a season. And on top of that, they have yet
(01:19:07):
to punt in this season. Indianapolis, Wow, who saw this
one coming? And Daniel Jones, by the way over three
hundred yards passing in two total touchdowns. They got the
field goal final play to beat Denver twenty nine to
twenty eight. The Dolphins loss at home was thirty three
twenty seven to New England. The crazy back to back.
(01:19:27):
In that one, Dolphins Malik Washington had a punt return
touchdown seventy four yards.
Speaker 2 (01:19:32):
Yeah, I saw that.
Speaker 5 (01:19:33):
They kick off, the Patriots return it for a touchdown
ninety yards.
Speaker 3 (01:19:38):
Nobody touched them and they rolled out in a red
carpet form and run down the zidline. There you go, sir.
Speaker 5 (01:19:44):
The next gen stat people say each return guy, the
guy for each team, hit a top speed of twenty
miles an hour on their run back. But this is
only the second time in the history of the NFL
you've had a punt return TV and then immediately a
kick return TD. Apparently it happened in nineteen ninety two
with Desmond Howard and then Dione Sanders. So wow, that
(01:20:05):
was really something. As for the Arizona win, it was
twenty seven to twenty two against Carolina. It was twenty
seven to three the lead late in the third quarter
and then the Panthers. Bryce Young threw three short touchdown passes,
but Carolina did miss a couple of two point tries.
Bryce Young finished with three TV passes two turnovers. I
will say rookie Tetoa mcmicklinillion from the Arizona six receptions
(01:20:29):
one hundred yards moses in the first app but the
Cardinals on the first drive of the game scored a
touchdown on a fumble return after sacking Bryce Young wound
up winning by less than a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (01:20:41):

Speaker 4 (01:21:05):
We got two count of two Monday night football games,
but what a day. Not the best, I would say,
from top to bottom. You can't say, oh, just incredible games.
But you had four fantastic finishes in the early window
yep four to five. I thought the Chiefs and the
Eagles was a slug fest. It was a fun game
(01:21:27):
to watch. I'm not complaining now. Sunday night football left
a lot to be desired, but I don't know why
am I think maybe like a B B plus as
far as entertainment today because that Witching Hour was rocket
I think.
Speaker 3 (01:21:40):
That's fair BB plus right around there. Like you said,
there were so many good games are close games in
the first window, so that kind of set the day
for it. I know, we finished on a bad note
with the Falcons and Vikings. We'll see what we share
at the Monday Night Football. Not a big fan of
the double Monday Night Football. I would even like it
staggered a little bit, but they're.
Speaker 2 (01:21:59):
Not going to do that.
Speaker 1 (01:22:00):
So well, it is staggered.
Speaker 3 (01:22:02):
No. Seven to ten, right, that's staggered. Well, I meant
like a little overlap.
Speaker 4 (01:22:07):
Like, oh, you mean, would have them overlapping each other
something like that, or kind of like what we had
last year. So you got like the end of one
game going on to the other one starting exactly. They
did away with that, but you had the I mean,
you had the end of the Cincinnati Jacksonville game, which
came down to the wire happening at the same time
that I mean, I'm not even kidding, there were forty
(01:22:29):
one points scored in that fourth quarter whatever of the
Giants Cowboys game. Trying to move on and just forgot
to mention that I was moving on to that game.
I had walked away after the Cowboys took the lead
on the touchdown pass to George Pickens. I'd walked away
from the TV for just a moment and I was like,
all right, let me go grab something. And when I did,
I thought the Cowboys had the game one because there
(01:22:52):
was like a there were fifty two seconds left. I'm like,
there is no way. And then Elak Neighbors makes that
incredible catch between two defenders and the Giants take the
lead that I thought, Oh my gosh, that Giants are
gonna win this thing. And then dude blast to sixty
five yard field. Sixty four yard field, I think was
the official number. Unbelievable finishing that.
Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
Year, and it's almost that the game of his life.
I mean, four hundred and fifty yards, three touchdowns. We're
not making a a big enough fig if it was anybody,
if if Patrick.
Speaker 1 (01:23:21):
He throw picking overtime.
Speaker 3 (01:23:22):
So I know that, but if Patrick Mahomes did that,
we'd be putting him in the hall.
Speaker 4 (01:23:26):
We'd be yelling at him for throwing a pick in overtime.
Is exactly what would happen if Patrick Mahomes did that.
You also had what was a fun finish between your
Dolphins and the Patriots. Between the Patriots way and I mean, listen,
I never really thought the Saints were going to win
the game, but New Orleans had a couple of chances
late with the football and just couldn't do anything. And
then you have the craziness of Colts Broncos. So in
(01:23:48):
that morning session, sure you can grinch and moan about
the Ravens blowout and how ugly it got between the
Lions and the Bears, But I mean I just mentioned
what five six games there that were great, so I
I thought it was a fun day overall. Do not
let Sunday night football suck take away from the great
day of the NFL that we had, Arnie.
Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
Yeah, don't. And that was a real boar fest. So
that really brought the whole tone down. We'll see what
we get for the double Monday night football, though, I'll
we'll get forward to that. Okay, you keep saying all
show long, you have a story? Yeah, yeah, because did
I ever tell you? Because I told this to Gargano
and I'm figured, I don't ever know if I told
this story to Chris playing about my three on three
(01:24:28):
basketball tournament that I played in a long time ago
in Phoenix.
Speaker 1 (01:24:31):
Was this when someone was wanting to fight you? No?
Speaker 3 (01:24:34):
Okay, well kind of, but that's no, No, it's not
the story you're thinking.
Speaker 1 (01:24:39):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
I played in the three on three Media Tournament back
in Phoenix, Arizona, when I was working for a radio station. Okay, Okay,
I think it was around nineteen ninety two. The sega's
gonna have to do the math on this, around nineteen
ninety two.
Speaker 2 (01:24:53):
It's significant because I'll tell you why, why.
Speaker 1 (01:24:55):
Does this segar have to do the math? Why couldn't
you just look it up?
Speaker 3 (01:24:58):
Well, because he's gonna have to do a bunch of
math on this. But it was around nineteen ninety two,
and we're getting ready for the start of the NBA season,
So we're playing September October. We're playing other media people, okay,
other radio stations and newspapers, so you know, you can
get very you know, very physical and a lot of talking.
And you know, it was my first year in Phoenix,
my first big time job, so I'm just talking smack.
(01:25:20):
I'm just talking smack like like you wouldn't believe it.
And there was some good players there. One guy in
the media decides he's going to bring an athlete, but
he's not a basketball player. He's a baseball player, and
the reason he was available he was an active baseball
players was the baseball players were on strike in September
(01:25:40):
of nineteen ninety two. And he turns out he wasn't
the best player, but he was the most famous player
back in nineteen ninety two. And he guesses, for you
and de Sega, who that might be that played in
this tournament.
Speaker 1 (01:25:56):
Does this have anything to do with Week two of
the NFL?
Speaker 3 (01:25:58):
Or? Oh? Good, but well you ready started a week two.
Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
I was gonna get to this before you got the
week two.
Speaker 1 (01:26:04):
But it was okay, I don't know, Ryan Sandberg. May
he rest in.
Speaker 3 (01:26:08):
Peace, Cal ripkin jor okay, and Cal had the streak
going for consecutive games.
Speaker 8 (01:26:15):
M h.
Speaker 3 (01:26:16):
So when he came out, the first thing I said
was I got caw because I'm thinking to myself, all
I have to do is uppercut him, send them down
to the ground.
Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
The streak is over, and I'm famous.
Speaker 3 (01:26:30):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:26:31):
I mean, so that's what you were in your mind, yes,
wanting to be famous for.
Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
Oh well, I was young in the industry back then. Okay,
So you can't really blame me for that, can you.
Speaker 4 (01:26:43):
I mean, I guess not but I just call me crazy,
but I don't know how purposefully taking out Cal Ripkin
and ending his streak is the kind of famous that
anyone I don't know struck you might a good idea.
Speaker 3 (01:26:59):
At the time, as we get ready to play, I
walk up to Cal. I go, oh, Cal, trying a
real sport. Now you're playing a contact sport, big boy.
No more baseball where nobody can touch you. He looks
at me, not very favorably. Let's just say that like
I'm some type of ahole, you know what I mean? Like,
are you serious? You're gonna Yes, he did that. He
(01:27:19):
looked at me like, are you serious? The first because
I'm guarding him. I already told my team I got Cal.
He gets the ball and I elbow him in the temple?
Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
Okay, I said, oh sorry, Cal?
Speaker 3 (01:27:30):
Did I hurt you? I hurt you? Big boy? He
comes in for a layup and I do nothing but
smack his arm like like smack smack, smack smack. Right,
He shrugs me off like I'm a third grade girl,
makes the layup, and he goes, if that's all you got,
it's going to be a long day for you. Do
(01:27:53):
you know how strong he is. He has arms like Popeye.
I don't know if you if you realize that I thought.
I thought he was just one of those sissy baseball
players that just was coming out to have a little
fun playing basketball. He's a lot stronger than you think, Chris,
I do have to say that.
Speaker 1 (01:28:06):
I don't. I mean, he's a professional athlete, arn't he?
Speaker 3 (01:28:10):
Oh, he's a baseball player. Please come on now, let's
let's not give them any more credit than it's got
to be. Yeah, he can hit a baseball, all right,
That doesn't mean he's really strong. But I didn't realize
that he had forearms like Popeye for crying out last.
Speaker 1 (01:28:24):
Do you watch baseball? I do.
Speaker 3 (01:28:28):
First of all, I think I was taller than him,
I weighed more than him, and I was probably stronger
than him, if you're asking me, I was twenty nine
years old, way more than him.
Speaker 1 (01:28:36):
Wow, I would go with one of those maybe being right.
Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
But anyway, he took me to task.
Speaker 3 (01:28:41):
I did get to elbow him in the temple, though,
but I don't think I did much damage to him.
Speaker 2 (01:28:45):
He was a lot stronger than I than I remember.
Speaker 3 (01:28:47):
I just couldn't. I couldn't believe that they bring in
Cawripken Jr. As your as your ringer for basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:28:53):
He's Arnie, how tall are you?
Speaker 2 (01:28:58):
I'm like six feet six to one.
Speaker 4 (01:29:01):
Cal Ripken is six foot four and weighs two hundred
and twenty five pounds at his prime.
Speaker 2 (01:29:05):
Yeah, it didn't seem that big when I was guarding him.
Speaker 3 (01:29:07):
Maybe it was. That was a lot tougher back then.
Speaker 1 (01:29:11):
I don't believe you.
Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
I don't believe What do you mean you don't believe me?
Speaker 3 (01:29:14):
I don't believe How come every story I tell us?
I don't believe you.
Speaker 1 (01:29:18):
It's like the one time he sent a picture to
us saying, hey, guys, look I'm playing with Kevin Durant
in my basketball league.
Speaker 3 (01:29:24):
That was That was Kevin Durant was not up here
at Vermont.
Speaker 2 (01:29:27):
That was a because the guy looked by Kevin.
Speaker 1 (01:29:30):
Was really funny though.
Speaker 4 (01:29:31):
So it would be September of ninety four, probably because yeah,
maybe that right was? Yeah, who had Jason B. Diamond
said that? And you were talking about how much younger
you were than him in ninety four?
Speaker 1 (01:29:44):
He was only twenty nine years old?
Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
What was I thirty one?
Speaker 1 (01:29:48):
I think he's younger than you.
Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
Yeah, any way, he was how old.
Speaker 4 (01:29:53):
Was thirty four? He was thirty four years old? Sor
my mouth was off. He was thirty four years old.
Speaker 2 (01:29:57):
So I was probably stronger than him two back then.
Speaker 1 (01:30:01):
What I don't think you were stronger than cal Ripken junior.
Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
Own Like, I probably couldn't bench press more than him,
but I was probably stronger physically. Like if we got
into a fight, Arnie, he did. Okay, Well, hey, great story, man,
you guys. Someone said, what a great cows story? Right there,
they're coming in now tell me if that was not
a great story. People, where's the saga?
Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
The sega? Did you not like that story?
Speaker 3 (01:30:26):
Worth the saga?
Speaker 1 (01:30:28):
Oh gosh, we're all tuned in. Man, Hey, I'm glued.
Speaker 3 (01:30:31):
I'm listening to story twelve years. I thought you'd like
that story. Kept baseball got into it a little bitter.
Speaker 5 (01:30:37):
I remember nineteen ninety two strike very well. Yeah, yeah,
so he was baseball players forearms are like Steve Ury.
Speaker 1 (01:30:45):
That's the whole thing. Why would you not realize a
baseball guy.
Speaker 5 (01:30:50):
I just thought even further, By the way, if you've
seen tennis players, they have one forearm.
Speaker 1 (01:30:55):
That bit.
Speaker 3 (01:30:55):
Oh, I just thought that if I knocked him around
a little bit. He'd be like, oh this I was
a little too tough for me.
Speaker 1 (01:31:01):
I only quit encouraging him, Okay, I mean, my gosh.
Speaker 3 (01:31:06):
I just thought that I could overpower him a little bit,
because you know, he is a he's not playing a
contact sport like football or basketball, and you were hockey,
playing basketball, rec league basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:31:19):
Pretty to me it was it was for.
Speaker 2 (01:31:21):
The media title, so it was a pretty big game.
Speaker 1 (01:31:23):
Well, I, well, congratulations, but I did I did kind
of want.
Speaker 3 (01:31:28):
I was thinking if I just made him twist his
ankle or something and he'd have to when he got back,
if you missed some games or something, I could be very.
Speaker 5 (01:31:35):
Actually, this kind of thing did happen in the heyday
of Martina and Avertulova. She was in a pickup basketball
game and someone injured her and she was off the tour.
Speaker 4 (01:31:45):
There you go on, you could have been like that
person that injured Martina Navaturlova.
Speaker 1 (01:31:50):
I say her name right, I always.
Speaker 3 (01:31:51):
I can never say it right, Nava, I say Martina
and Nabatova.
Speaker 1 (01:31:57):
Now you just got me messing it up. Now that
you screw it up.
Speaker 3 (01:32:00):
Hey, congratulations, Arnie, thank you. I thought that was a
good story. They're coming in on Twitter right now. What
a great story that was.
Speaker 5 (01:32:08):
So apparently the Sunday night football game was not great?
Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
No, yes, yeah, that's that's how bad the Sunday night
football game was. My story was better than the Sunday
night to kick off the Sunday night football game. We
did you win the game? U?
Speaker 3 (01:32:20):
No, we didn't win. Cal took me to school. You know.
Speaker 5 (01:32:23):
The great Ben Mallor has a story that he was
in a media baseball game at Dodger Stadium and got
a hit off the e ra A champion Rick honeycut
later many years the pitching coach of the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (01:32:35):
But did he try to injure him? No, yeah, because
he's not a person. Okay, yes I did.
Speaker 3 (01:32:41):
I told you that the Negro brothers cursed me out
once when I was playing baseball. That was a pretty
good story and.
Speaker 5 (01:32:47):
Plugged you with a forty five min.
Speaker 1 (01:32:50):
We they were hanging out together or something.
Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
They were coaching the women's fastball. I remember that were
bullets and I played against him for one inning and
I took the first pitch was a strike and they
yelled swing you and I can't repeat what they called me,
but it was some bad names, and I ended up
striking out and then they started heckling me.
Speaker 1 (01:33:09):
Really, did you come anywhere close to touching it?
Speaker 5 (01:33:13):
I hitch, was Joe nekro cheating with a nail file? Again?
Speaker 6 (01:33:16):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:33:17):
No, he wasn't that.
Speaker 5 (01:33:18):
The umpire stopped him on the mound mid.
Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
Game and he flipped it out of his pocket.
Speaker 5 (01:33:23):
He casually flipped it out of his back pocket while
he put his arms up like, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
What best thing ever, best thing ever? I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:33:32):
I don't know if there's any way out of this, Steve,
instead of just taking a break right now to cut completely.
Speaker 3 (01:33:38):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (01:33:38):
Let's say if you missed the Sunday night NFL game,
the Vikings offense had ten drives and ten first downs
and lost at home twenty two to six to Atlanta.
And late in the game there had not been a
touchdown yet when it was fifteen to six, it was
all field goals at the time.
Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
Is Atlanta's defense really that good? It was Minnesota's offense
that horrible.
Speaker 5 (01:33:59):
I'm getting I'm questioning the Minnesota offense with this new quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:34:03):
Eh, that's the question of the night, stinking genius. I
really knows you know.
Speaker 5 (01:34:08):
The star tackle Christian Dereris is still out again. The
center Ryan Kelly left with a concussion. Linebacker Andrew van
Ginkel out with a concussion late in the game. Running
back Aaron Jones left with a bad hamstring. They might
not have won anyway. Pile that on. This isn't good
for the future, the near future.
Speaker 1 (01:34:25):
Yeah, it's not looking too good. All right. We got
to take a break.
Speaker 4 (01:34:28):
When we come back, it's time to figure out after
week two what we know. I also want to throw
in a few things from college here too, because I
was living I went to I'm glad we could go
to a cow story from nineteen ninety four after I
spent my entire weekend in Philly. But no, no, you
don't care to ask how my weekend was you you
(01:34:49):
were in philadelph I mean, where did oh you play
this weekend?
Speaker 3 (01:34:52):
Temple?
Speaker 1 (01:34:53):
Yeah? Where's Temple?
Speaker 2 (01:34:55):
Philadelphia?
Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
Yeah, it's crazy if you just took some time to
invest in your friends. But no, no, no, we got
a story from four with cal Ripkin and Arnie trying
to heard him. I thought it was a good story.
We did have one person that liked it right there.
Speaker 1 (01:35:09):
That's all that matters. If you make one person smile,
that makes sure that.
Speaker 3 (01:35:12):
Jenna says, also, terrible story.
Speaker 4 (01:35:15):
Well, and she had more. She said, the cow story
makes Arnie sound like the biggest a hole he's been
in nineties. Apparently that's pretty good, Ron, Arnie of a holishness.
Speaker 1 (01:35:23):
That's will Son.
Speaker 3 (01:35:25):
I got cal funniest thing I heard today.
Speaker 1 (01:35:27):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:35:28):
Yeah, I did work that out.
Speaker 1 (01:35:29):
I got cow. Let's go, I got cow. How did
that go for you?
Speaker 3 (01:35:33):
It didn't go come? But you could have heard my
voice back then. It was like I was gonna slam
dunk on him.
Speaker 1 (01:35:38):
Right.
Speaker 4 (01:35:39):
Well, when we come back, let's get into what we
learned from week two and what we know through a
couple of weeks in the NFL season and three weeks of.
Speaker 1 (01:35:45):
The college season. Right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (01:35:48):
All right, it's Tarny and Plank Company live from the
Fox Sports Radio studios, recapping Week two of the NFL,
A little bit on week three.
Speaker 1 (01:35:56):
Of the college football Philly. Yeah. Thanks. Two hours and
twenty three minutes later, you acknowledge it.
Speaker 2 (01:36:03):
Do you have any cheese steak?
Speaker 4 (01:36:04):
Of course, that's what you do when you go to Philly. Right,
I've never been before. It was an awesome get out
of here. Yeah, never been Philly before.
Speaker 2 (01:36:10):
You're like the country pumpkin in the big city.
Speaker 3 (01:36:13):
I mean, I'm from Norman, Oklahoma, so forgot from big Norman, Oklahoma.
I forgot about that.
Speaker 1 (01:36:19):
Do I talk like that?
Speaker 3 (01:36:22):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:36:23):
Yes, Jesus man.
Speaker 4 (01:36:24):
Come on, all right, let me get some of these
tweets in here on week two of the NFL. But
before we do that at stinkin Genius one at Plank Show,
everybody go follow us at Fox Sports. Ready before we
get to these already after week two of the NFL season,
I know this.
Speaker 1 (01:36:41):
Where do you want to start?
Speaker 8 (01:36:42):
All?
Speaker 1 (01:36:43):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:36:43):
After Week two of the NFL season?
Speaker 3 (01:36:45):
I know this, and I you know what, I'll start
with the forty nine ers because you know, everybody talked about,
you know how great they're going to be, and I
understand Rock Purty's out and that's going to be making
all the difference in the world. Mac Jones start off
real slow, kind of save them, but they played a
really bad team today. I know that San Francisco is
(01:37:06):
not going to be in the haunt in that division.
They're gonna hit South and it's gonna happen to them.
Really soon. The only thing going in their favor is
they have a really weak schedule, weaker than the Miami Dolphins,
so they'll get lucky there.
Speaker 2 (01:37:19):
But I'm not buying them.
Speaker 1 (01:37:20):
I think that the Vision can.
Speaker 3 (01:37:21):
Actually go to Arizona. When it's all said that, I
can't believe that because I didn't have them on my
radar when the season started.
Speaker 4 (01:37:28):
Well, I mean after week two, I know this. I
don't think you know how to calculate schedule difficulty.
Speaker 3 (01:37:36):
Wow, when you.
Speaker 4 (01:37:37):
Start out two to zero and you've beaten the Saints
and the Panthers, aren't I don't know that you've had
a softer schedule out there period. True, they go to
Sanfra next week, then they get Seattle at home before
the Titans, who apparently cannot block for poor cam Ward.
But I think I think it might be back to Earth.
(01:37:59):
I kind of think San Francisco's defense. You get back
the architect of the defense after it didn't work for
him as a head coach in New York Jets.
Speaker 1 (01:38:07):
I just I'm not I don't think I can be
with you on this one.
Speaker 4 (01:38:10):
I'm not saying I completely disagree, right, but they're two
to zero. They beat a Seahawks team that, let's face,
and they got a few breaks and the Seattle went
on the road and pretty much took care of business
against Pittsburgh. Though that stupid play on special teams really
helped kind of spearhead that. I don't know, man, I
kind of believe that San Francisco's looking a little bit better.
I mean, listen, after week two.
Speaker 5 (01:38:31):
I know this.
Speaker 1 (01:38:32):
It took the.
Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
Rams a little bit of time to get going, but
I mean, Matt Stafford looked a little better today. They
didn't really get Kyron Williams as involved as my fantasy
team would like for them too, But DeVante Adams one
hundred and six yards receiving Pukinikua eight catches for ninety
one yards. Looks like that the Rams might be starting
to click a little bit after kind of an uneven
(01:38:53):
start through the first six quarters of the season, right right,
all right, Well, you know, since.
Speaker 3 (01:38:58):
We just finished with this game after week two, I
know this, and I don't even need to see anymore.
I've seen enough. I know what's going to happen from
here on out. JJ McCarthy is not a starting quarterback
in the NFL and the Minnesota Vikings are really going
to struggle this year, especially in that division which is
so strong now. The Bears obviously is not as strong
as I thought they were gonna be, but they're gonna
(01:39:19):
struggle there. The Minnesota Vikings they're taking a you know,
you say you take a step backwards, they're taking like
three step backwards.
Speaker 2 (01:39:27):
It's not gonna be a pretty year for them this year.
Speaker 1 (01:39:29):
And again this quick reminder.
Speaker 4 (01:39:33):
They did win in Week one and it was a
spectacular second half for JJ McCarthy. But that's two quarters
out of six that he's played so far that went
hold on math for two quarters out of eight that
he's played so far this season. So yeah, six bad ones,
the two good ones. But you're saying done, so done
right now?
Speaker 3 (01:39:53):
Yeah, he's it's just not going to happen.
Speaker 4 (01:39:55):
Is this one of those shows tonight and you're a
little bit of a prisoner of the moment?
Speaker 2 (01:40:00):
No, not at all.
Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
I knew it was it going to be a good
year for them at the very beginning. I knew they
were going to struggle, and I knew he wasn't going
to struggle.
Speaker 1 (01:40:07):
What has he done?
Speaker 2 (01:40:08):
This showed that he should be a starting quarterback? In
the NFL to begin with.
Speaker 1 (01:40:11):
Anyway, So he won a national championship in college.
Speaker 3 (01:40:14):
Yeah that doesn't count. Yeah that and a dollar will
get you a free donut somewhere. So no, forget about that.
What what you never you never heard about.
Speaker 4 (01:40:24):
That winning a national championship in college and a dollar
will get you a donuts. I don't think you can
get a donut for a dollar anymore on you. I
think we need to upgrade those numbers all right. After
week two in the NFL, I know this, and I'm
not trying to kiss up to you here at all, Patrick,
I think the Seahawks might be pretty good. No, and
I A and I didn't know what to think after
(01:40:47):
week one because Sam Darnald didn't look all that great.
But I think the forty nine ers have a good defense.
Darnald did have two picks, what if you have three
now in the season. But the running game got going.
Jackson Smith and Jake but looks ready to take this
step to be the number one guy. It wasn't always
pretty today, but I think I'm kind of jumping back
(01:41:08):
on Seattle right now.
Speaker 1 (01:41:09):
Arnie.
Speaker 4 (01:41:09):
I know you're not I know you're not down. But
after week two. They've got the Saints next week and
then they go to Arizona.
Speaker 1 (01:41:15):
Ooh wow.
Speaker 3 (01:41:16):
So they they'll win the game against the Saints, and
that'll be a good game against area.
Speaker 4 (01:41:21):
Good game that will likely be a couple two and
one teams scaring off against each other. When they played
the Cardinals in a couple weeks, might be for first
place in the division.
Speaker 3 (01:41:29):
Who knows, could very well be after two weeks. I
know this, and I told you this after one week.
So I'm gonna be very consistent on this now that
after two weeks, if we had Arnie's imaginary power rankings,
who did I tell you was number one a week ago?
Speaker 2 (01:41:40):
Because number one again the Green Bay Packers.
Speaker 3 (01:41:44):
They do look like the best team in the NFL
right now, I would say, And you know what, surprisingly too,
I didn't think they were this strong, especially defensively. I
thought they did a great job on against the Commanders
and against Daniels. I mean, they just had him locked up. Now,
of course he picked it up in the fourth quarter,
but it was all Green Bay in that game. They're
(01:42:04):
really I would say, if they're not the best team,
there's certainly one of the top two teams in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
They look good. They look really good early on.
Speaker 3 (01:42:12):
But and that's not because of the Micah Parsons trade
too either. To be honest, he was everywhere, but he
was everywhere. On Thursday night, he seemed to be a
little bit of everywhere.
Speaker 1 (01:42:22):
But I'm with you. I got one more, Yeah, I've
got one more. After week two.
Speaker 3 (01:42:29):
I know this.
Speaker 1 (01:42:31):
I want to. I'd like to.
Speaker 4 (01:42:34):
I wish I could, but I can't bury and or
panic on the Chiefs yet. I'll say the same thing
I said after week one.
Speaker 1 (01:42:42):
No, don't do that. It's because I need You've done
this too many times, stop it. I need to.
Speaker 4 (01:42:47):
I need to catch Why don't you just bring Grandma's
body down here and wheel the casket on in. That's
what I need to see in order to believe that
this is as you would say, Arnie, Oh v were
you a h o vah?
Speaker 3 (01:43:00):
You believe me when they say we are flexing the
Chiefs off the game because we're putting another game on.
Speaker 1 (01:43:08):
We don't want to.
Speaker 4 (01:43:09):
Well, I don't think that's ever gonna happen. But this year,
I don't think that's ever gonna If they're bad, you
want to bet your job on that one.
Speaker 3 (01:43:19):
I can't Dolphins Jets. I will cut off my right
arm if they flex out. But in all seriousness, I
just I can't see it.
Speaker 1 (01:43:28):
And they looked a little physically over matched at times.
Speaker 4 (01:43:31):
But a mistake that you don't typically see them make
in the red zone, a ball that went right off
of Travis Kelce, and the next thing you know, it's
a different game.
Speaker 1 (01:43:39):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:43:40):
They probably won't get flexed out of a Sunday night game,
ary because I mean they the next day, they play
next week against the Giants, right they could, and then
they play they play against the Lions on October twelfth
at ass and then they only have one well that's
at that's in Kansas City, and then they have Houston
in week fourteen. But I just, yeah, I don't I
(01:44:01):
don't think they're gonna get flexed out of any Sunday games.
Speaker 1 (01:44:04):
But I can't. I can't buy it. I can't buy
that they're done yet. As much as I.
Speaker 4 (01:44:07):
Would love to, more than anything else, I'd love to
be on board and saying well those the Chiefs are dead.
Speaker 3 (01:44:13):
There's a lot of people before the season that said
that's over for the Chiefs, and they're feeling it.
Speaker 2 (01:44:17):
They're feeling pretty good about them.
Speaker 1 (01:44:18):
So there's a lot of people before the season that
told me Arch Manning was going to win the Heisman. Two.
Speaker 3 (01:44:23):
Yeah, that doesn't looking real good right now.
Speaker 1 (01:44:26):
You got anything else before the saga rolls in?
Speaker 3 (01:44:28):
No, let's bring into saga. Who loved my story about Coward?
He told me so.
Speaker 5 (01:44:34):
Yeah, it was great.
Speaker 3 (01:44:35):
Oh, come on, it was better than great. Come on,
better than great. If it happened to you, you'd be living.
You tell that story every day on the air. I
ever tell you about color.
Speaker 5 (01:44:46):
Actually happened to any of the rest of us on
the show, because we wouldn't have been a jerk to cal.
Speaker 1 (01:44:53):
Play basketball again. I would have tried to be on
his team.
Speaker 3 (01:44:56):
I never told you about the time I said that
next to Don Mkowski on the airpoint is an Aien's
magic Man.
Speaker 1 (01:45:03):
How you doing man? Was he drinking? I don't remember.
Speaker 5 (01:45:07):
I know there are diehard football fans that don't know
who you are.
Speaker 3 (01:45:12):
Are you serious? Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:45:13):
Oh, I guarantee there isn't get OUTI O.
Speaker 5 (01:45:16):
Those people also are unaware that donuts once cost a dollar.
Speaker 6 (01:45:20):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (01:45:21):
By the way, as you were talking about the back
and forth of the Cowboys game. They eventually beat the
Giants forty to thirty seven in overtime. There were six
lead changes in the fourth quarter and ot, which ties
for the most in any game in the history of
the NFL.
Speaker 1 (01:45:35):
Oh wow.
Speaker 5 (01:45:36):
Brandon Aubrey tied it with a sixty four yard field
goal end of regulation, won it with a forty six
yarder at the end of the ten minute overtime. He
already has four sixty or more yard field goals in
his career. He's barely starting his NFL career. And if
anyone asks you, is starting two and oh or starting
(01:45:59):
zero to two in an NFL season does it actually
mean anything? The answer is yes with an exclamation point,
because it's not just hey, let's go back to when
they redid the playoff format in the early nineties or something.
Although I'm sure those numbers would prove it. AP looked
up the five years since they expanded to you know,
seven seeds in each conference making the postseason instead of six.
(01:46:22):
There's about forty teams that started two and oh and
about forty teams that started oh and two. If you
started two and oh, seventy nine percent of those teams
make the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:46:33):
That year.
Speaker 5 (01:46:33):
Wow, if you started oh and two, twelve percent of
those teams made the playoffs that year. Only five teams
out of forty one that have started oh and two
made the playoffs since they expanded to seven seeds in
each conference.
Speaker 3 (01:46:49):
Pouch.
Speaker 5 (01:46:49):
Tonight, we had Atlanta winning twenty two to six at Minnesota.
I didn't think there was anything remarkable about this game.
And then the volts that stat sink say. You know
the Vikings tonight the only team in the Super Bowl
era to do all of this in the same game,
to have under two hundred yards of offense, fail to
score a touchdown, allow at least six secs, fumble four times,
(01:47:13):
commit at least four turnovers, at least eight penalties, and
allow one hundred yard rusher. All of that in one
game for Minnesota tonight as they lose at home. Yes,
JJ McCarthy was sacked six times, he had three of
the turnovers. B John Robinson one hundred and forty three
yards rushing. The Falcons had bench kicker Young Wayku John
Parker Romo five for five on freeo field goals. That's
(01:47:35):
where the practice going.
Speaker 3 (01:47:36):
What announcer do I sound like? I've never seen a
quarterback do anything like that. I've never seen a running
back do anything like I've never seen an offensive lineman
do anything like that.
Speaker 5 (01:47:47):
Okay, I'll give it collins Worth.
Speaker 3 (01:47:48):
I mean, come on, I've never seen anybody do anything.
Speaker 1 (01:47:53):
Get watch them since we're on the air.
Speaker 5 (01:47:54):
I didn't know if you want a good Collinsworth impersonation,
asked Jonas Knox. He's got it exactly. Philadelphia won at
Kansas City twenty to seventeen. Indye beat Denver twenty nine
to twenty eight on a forty five yard field goal
on the final play. The Colts had just missed a
sixty yard attempt a Denver was flagged for leverage. That
was a fifteen fifteen yard penalty on the closer kick
(01:48:16):
because the sixty yard were short on the closer kick.
The Colts won at Spencer Schrader five for five on
field goals, Jonathan Taylor one hundred and sixty five yards
rushing and a TD reception. The Colts no turnovers, no punts. Today,
Arizona held off Carolina twenty seven to twenty two. By
the way, Marvin Harrison Junior two receptions in this game,
(01:48:37):
and Arizona committed twelve penalties. There are two games on Monday,
Tampa Bay at Houston seven pm Eastern, and then at
ten pm Eastern, Las Vegas hosts the Chargers. Raiders. Tight
End Brock Bowers, who had the bad kne did at
least return to limited practice on Saturday. The bad news
potentially very bad news for the Bengals regards their starting
quarterback Joe Burrow, according to NFL Network, is to have
(01:49:00):
suffered a Grade three turf toe injury, which would require surgery,
which would be a recovery period of at least three months.
He was heard in the first quarter on a sack.
They're evaluating their options, but quote, he's likely to face
a multi week absence even if he finds a nonsurgical
treatment option.
Speaker 2 (01:49:21):
They should trade for cousins.
Speaker 5 (01:49:24):
That'd be a lot of money, wouldn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:49:26):
Well, the beggars can't be choosers.
Speaker 5 (01:49:30):
Arter Jake Browning had three interceptions at Cincinnati today, but
three total touchdowns, including the game winning sneak with about
twenty seconds left. They beat Jacksonville thirty one to.
Speaker 3 (01:49:39):
Tony Sometimes that happen. You played like a half a
game till three interceptions and just they'll.
Speaker 5 (01:49:43):
Win well as soon as you said interceptions, I thought
Nathan Peterman. But they didn't win.
Speaker 1 (01:49:48):
No, they didn't get five. I think that was the
first it happens. Hey, who is DJ Lagway?
Speaker 6 (01:49:56):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:49:57):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (01:49:58):
Ucla fired football coach to Ron Foster. His team was
ozho and three and last year started one and five.
Virginia Tech fired coach Brent Prye after an oh to
three start. Top three in the AP poll stayed the same.
Ohio State, Penn State, LSU, Seattle Mariners won their ninth

Sox six' four over The, Yankees toronto, One dodgers And

how old is he? Now he's sixty. FIVE i think
he looks.
Speaker 3 (01:51:48):
A lot older now than he did back.
Speaker 1 (01:51:49):
Then, WELL i, MEAN i are you trying to say
that you're like a better athlete and a better specimen
than Cal.
Speaker 3 (01:51:57):

bass all you would know the first thing about playing.
BASKETBALL i know football players play. Basketball baseball players.
Speaker 1 (01:52:06):

unwrap from, today AND i think we had a great
finish to the early morning side of. Things but there's
one other truth that needs to be talked. About we

the verge with another bad week of a couple firings
in THE. Nfl JASON. B diamond On, twitter, RIGHTS i
(01:52:40):

serious trouble of being. Fired so Is mike. McDaniel by the,
way also does The colt owners being on the sideline
with the play sheet and the headset on?
Speaker 1 (01:52:51):
BOBBLE i think that's. GREAT i thought it was the sideline.
REPORTER i thought it was his. WIFE i was, like
who is? That what you doing the? Thing it's, awesome that's.
HILARIOUS i love it was.
Speaker 4 (01:53:00):
Great oh and, THREE i don't think they're gonna fire
Day ball At owen, three especially whenever he saw the
numbers that were put up By Russell.
Speaker 1 (01:53:09):
Wilson that's pretty, good.
Speaker 3 (01:53:10):
RIGHT i do think they can fire McDaniel, though and
try to save the season because they don't think it's
going to be all that. Bad BUT i don't think
the season could be. Saved he's in a bad spot right.
Now he does look absolutely, lost and you know, what
he doesn't have the personality to get the t ball fired.
Speaker 2 (01:53:26):
Up And i've never seen the guy even raise his.
Speaker 4 (01:53:29):
Voice he's ever talked to, Him, no BUT i mean
you've seen him yell and throw fits over on the
sidelines before he talking about, McDaniel, right, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:53:38):
Why because he couldn't find his goggles for his chemistry.
EXPERIMENT i, mean come, on, now the guy is just
so low. Key it's just and a lot of people
have said this, also they're just, finally you're just starting
to realize What i've been saying for the last couple
of years, though.
Speaker 1 (01:53:53):
You do realize you say all this and then you
still picked him to go to The Super.
Speaker 2 (01:53:57):
Bowl, well sometimes you win in spy of your.
Speaker 4 (01:53:59):
COACH i don't think anyone has ever won in any

his time as THE, gm and fifteen and thirty eight.
Speaker 3 (01:54:51):

we looking at their year two that they were going
to turn it? AROUND i mean When Caleb williams got
drafted number one last.
Speaker 4 (01:55:03):
Year what did everyone, Say, oh there's never been a
number one overall pick going to a situation with this
much talent around, him and you quickly realized there might
not be that much talent around.
Speaker 1 (01:55:13):
Him they're. Terrible, oh you.
Speaker 3 (01:55:14):
Make quickly realize there might not be enough talent around
him because he's not that talented to beginning with.
Speaker 1 (01:55:19):
Himself, well he's. Talented there's no question about your.
Speaker 4 (01:55:22):
Talent he's what The Heisman trophy, COMMITTEE i, mean he
Won Heisman.
Speaker 1 (01:55:27):
Trophy he nearly made the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:55:30):
