Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Let's go on a Saturday. Oh big boy, let's go, baby.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
I've been watching football from sun up and we're gonna
watch it till sundown and beyond here tonight on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Isn't it a glorious thing? Haven't it just been beautiful?
I was.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
I was ready to watch Cleveland like it was a
regular season game.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
To that I've got to watch this game? Are you
kidding me? This?
Speaker 4 (00:26):
This has got to be on TV. I got to
see what Dylan Gabriel is gonna do. I mean, I'm
I'm scrutinizing every play. It's gonna be everybody, Dure Sanders
blah blah blah. Oh my goodness, it was incredible.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
So Jeff Schwartz tweeted something earlier and I kind of
want to kind of want to get your take on it.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
I want to get your take on it.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
By the way, are you in a better mood tonight
than you were last Saturday night or Sunday night?
Speaker 4 (00:49):
I've changed my mind like seven times since I said
that the Dophins were gonna I have them losing it again.
I just and and a chans heard and they you know,
some soft tissue spray or so thing. I just can't
take it already. It's gonna it's gonna be a long year.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
So you've already won eighty from the notes for the
show again.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Yeah again, just from from yesterday, from this.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
Morning, Ian, you had to experience Mary Mack, you had
to experience in it, experience it. Brandon Mero, who's on
her updates tonight. Be lucky you didn't. That was cranky, Arnie,
and he was taking no presenters. He wanted everyone fired.
He's yelling. He's the only football fan around here, the
biggest normal to everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
What's that? Sounds like a normal day? You know what?
Actually that's a fair point.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Maybe it was just a normal day, Arnie, but it's
a one eighty.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
You had them like back at thirteen and four.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
I had twelve and five, and now I changed my
mind again. I'm just again since the notes this morning, yeah,
just since since the Detroit game. I'm my god, we'll get.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
To that happened.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
But okay, since you were talking about the excitement level
over the preseason, I mean, I've got We've got the
Giants Jets game. That's what I'm getting. I'm getting the
Cowboys game here locally. I got to tune that in
during the program. But Jeff Schwartz.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Tweeted this, and I like it, is it me or
does it feel like these preseason games are just better
than last season and other seasons, like real offenses and
defenses are being run. You get that feeling. Is it
just we're that thirsty for football? I told you earlier.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
I told you as we were filling in last Saturday
and all the games were going on, you know, during
that first preseason week, I said, that didn't seem like
the offenses or ahead of the defenses.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Or maybe it's just.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
That they were playing more number one, you know, starters
than some of the other teams.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
I don't know what it really all was.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
I don't have the breakdown of how many teams played
their starters compared the second string, third string FedEx guys,
but it certainly seems like, you know.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
There certainly seems like there's a lot more offense. And
you know what I also brought up this last week too,
I said, I go, some of these teams have kept
like their practice squad around for like a couple of years.
A lot of these second third string quarterbacks you know,
take my heavy Zach Wills look pretty good. They've been
around in the league for a little bit of a while,
and they're playing pretty good football. See.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
I noticed one thing you did there is Jeff said
good preseason football games. You basically made it about your
take on the offense. He's not just saying there's been
some good defense play too. And again, maybe it's just
kind of drunk on some of the games I watched today,
because you know, the Giants have gone with their starters
for a while, the Jets just made the shift out
of its first team. The Raiders and the Niners played
(03:29):
I'm not sure about defense on each side, but I
know at the very least the first team offense is
played the first series in that game, so that kind
of gets excited. But I don't know, man, it just
it seems like all around we've been getting better games.
Is that just me thirsty for football?
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Maybe it is. Maybe we're just excited.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
But you know, also I started thinking, and this is
gonna be tough to do, but quarterbacks that we thought sucked,
but then they got on a better team and they.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Looked much better. Like Mac Joes, you know, think he
looks better today. You didn't think so, you didn't think
he looked better than he you know, did?
Speaker 3 (04:03):
I just got my full screen now I got to
go back and look at the numbers. I felt like
the Raiders were all over him, and the Raiders had
their second team in Zach Wilson.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
He's le look's a lot better than when he played
for the New York Jets, no doubt about that.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Oh, I see, yes here it was weird, dude, now
that you mentioned Mac Jones today statistically thirteen of sixteen
for one hundred and thirty four yards, but did have
the interception, wasn't sacked. Here's what's weird is through the
third quarter and into the fourth, whenever Carter Bradley came in,
the receiver they were throwing to was Robbie chosen, Like
Robbie Anderson, who I feel like is about fifty now,
(04:37):
like he's been in the league forever. He was already
and when you put a guy that's a vet in
there late in those games, he's able to do about
whatever he wants.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
But exactly, okay, I can see, I can see what
you're saying now with Mac Jills docks better on other teams.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Yeah, there's not too many quarterbacks we can do that with,
though that have looked bad on you know, one team
finally have gotten cut released and well, Baker Mayfield, even
though I thought he played pretty well for Cleveland, look
what he's doing over a ten years.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Absolutely, and this is what his hold on, let's do
It went from Cleveland to what Carolina and then he
ended up with the Rams, so he I mean, this
is his fourth team already and it finally founded here,
So I'm in on this. Are you saying you feel
like you might be seeing someone pull a Donald Hear
this preseason? In other words, when you're looking around and
(05:25):
you start thinking about the starting quarterbacks in the league.
Right there's a couple places where there's battles going on.
Daniel Jones might end up starting in Indianapolis for all
we know.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Are you saying you might see a.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Guy that could be pulling little Sam Darnald maybe won
eighty in his career or is it just he's on
a better team now with less responsibility as a backup.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
It could work either way, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
You know, also, maybe there's a quarterback right now that
stinks and you're just saying, hey, well, just wait till
he gets to a better team, like somebody like Bryce Young.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Could this guy play or is he just stink out there?
I don't know anymore.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
I used to think that this guy was going to
be all world when he first came in. Now I've
I've given up on him. I'm like, okay, it's it's
time to move on. You got to get another quarterback
out there.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
You know this this week and your knee jerk reactions
that change you disagree with that? No, no, just it
harkens back to many times when you would lose your
mind after a preseason game like this week. Somebody reminded me,
one of my buddies reminded me of how you thought C. J.
Stroud was terrible and should never play. And I think
(06:29):
the line was, oh, I my two, I see, I
don't need to see anything more.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
He's you never let me forget any That was years ago.
I had completely forgotten about it.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
But it's just it's a good lesson to maybe say, hey,
calm down a little bit, man, it's still the preseason.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Well, Bryce, we've seen a couple of years about but
you know again, he's young, he was or was young,
so oh you know.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
He's still young, but I mean, you're you're you're saying
that based off going zero for two in a preseason
game and taking a sack.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
No mostly the first two years. And okay, so you're
you're not saying, hey.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Maybe a little bit, maybe a little bit with the
preseason you know.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
I like to kne jerk react to that also.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
I mean, you mean you wouldn't be the first person
that would want their quarterback cut after having a bad
preseason game. Cam Miller went from being the toast of
everybody in Vegas. Yes, I know you put him in
your NFL preseason Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Was in the preseason Hall of Famer, right.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Ethos a pig late in that game, and Raider fan
already I.
Speaker 4 (07:25):
Was laughing when you lost the fifty nine, daughter, I
go at least I could laugh now, because you would
have been real grabby coming off the after that was
a regular season game.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Oh if it was a regular season my goodness, I
would not be I would probably have to take the
night off.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
If if you lose a game like that, you get
the football.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Back after I can only imagine.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Let's then quickly recap that so we don't get bogged down.
It's already even playing here on Fox Sports Radio. What
do you got eyes? I got eyes on the Giants
and Jets at seventy three right now, Giants with four
to twenty one to go in.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
The first half.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
I'm also monitoring the NASCAR race tonight, Arnie Weird Richmond.
Weir at Richmond right now. So Tyler Reddick has the lead.
We got a long way to go. We're on the
final lap of stage one, so Redick's gonna take Stage one.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
I was late to the Giants Jets game, God, and
they put up a twitter of Russell Wilson.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
I'm like, what happened? Did he get hit? Did he
get hurt? You would have thought that he was ready
to lead the Giants to the super Bowl with eighty
r touch. Did you see the first pass? It was smooth? Yes,
it was good. They're back here, God, the Giants, They're
gonna win it all. Here you go.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
You are a wild mix of putting way too much
into the preseason and then getting mad at people who
put too much on the preseason. It's a double edged sword.
Make fun of your own cut. I guess I get
right exactly. I'm hey, listen, buddy, I'm telling you it's
someone who was just as guilty. The end of the
Raiders game, allright, just real quick, twenty two to nineteen.
The San Francisco forty nine ers end up winning the game,
(08:56):
but it was a nineteen to sixteen Raiders lead. With
about five minutes to go in the game, San Francisco
drives the ball all the way down to the Las
Vegas nine yard line, first and goal with less than
a minute left.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Arnie and touchdown probably wins it field goal. With you know,
tied at nineteen, San Francisco proceeds to go back seventeen
yards on two plays and end up with a fourth
and goal with the Las Vegas twenty six. So instead
of going for it, they kick a field goal. Bloom.
Were tied at nineteen, right, you figure it's gonna be
a tie. Maybe it's gonna be a tie.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Hey, the Raiders, they got the football twenty nine seconds left,
they got two timeouts. You think, hey, let's go cook,
let's go see what cam Ward can do. I'm sorry,
cam Miller can do. That would be awesome. I would
love to see that.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Man.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
They started their thirty two yard line, Miller gets sacked
once he gets sacked again, if that's it, and then
he gets picked off on third down and seventeen. San
Francisco takes over on their own twenty five. They try
to mismanage the hell out of the clock, but with
four seconds left, Jake Moody makes a fifty nine yard
(10:02):
field goal. And that's how insane the final minute thirty
was of that game.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
I love it. Reckless, reckless.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
I was thinking to you when that happened. I'm like, oh,
man with Plank be losing his marbles. If we were
on the air alive and this was a regular season.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Game, I'm not going to lie to you.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
The Raiders had tied their previous two preseason games. They
tied the Niners at the end of last year's preseason.
They tied who was it last week Seattle?
Speaker 2 (10:30):
In Week one.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
I kind of was rooting for a tie a little bit, like, hey,
let's see that, yeah, they said on the Raiders radio network.
They said that, No, they went all the way back
to like nineteen ninety four, and they couldn't find teams
that had been tied three games in a row in
the game period. So I was looking for a little history, Arnie.
But oh, Yeah, sure, why not third and seventeen on
your own twenty five yard line. Let's throw a freaking
(10:54):
pick and basically just hand the team a game. What
was it spread in that? I mean it was it
was it affected by that or no?
Speaker 4 (11:02):
And as Vegas was a four point favorite? What, Yeah,
Vegas was a four point favorite, so.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
I guess it doesn't really affect it too terrible.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
By the way, gent ran for the what the thirty
three best yards in the history of football?
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Is that? Is that again? This is that? Dude? Youthing? According? Yeah,
got two amazing runs. Amazing. Yeah, they were just so amazed.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
They might be the greatest runs that have ever been
made in the history of football, aren'ty? What's wrong with you?
It's preseason knee jerk reaction. He looked good. The Raiders
offensive line I thought looked pretty good. So it was
It was a fun game. It was an entertaining game.
It was the Raiders alumni weekend, so me being a
Raiders fan, there was some nostalgia there.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
You know, they're talking.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
You see Marcus Allen and they're talking to Guy's Jim
plunket that pops up out of nowhere. Videos of the
autumn Wind as a Raider. I mean, the NFL network
blessed us, because what's our theory on the road teams?
The road team's knowledge of the of the excuse me,
the home team broadcasts and knowledge of the road team
zip zero none, nil zilt. They couldn't care less that
(12:11):
there's even a second team out there. But I got
the Raiders broadcast today Arnie on the NFL Network, so
I was all full of nostalgia. I was ready to
win that game and declare this team going undefeated the
rest of the way.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
But oh well, it is what it is. Did I
miss understand them when they were they talking about Aiden
O'Connell and where he went to college? Did I missed that?
Did you hear that part? Or no? He went to Purdue. Yeah,
that's what I thought. And they kept saying like North
Dakota State or something like, well that's cam Miller. I
know that, But they kept saying O'Connell. Maybe I misheard them,
(12:42):
Maybe I missed on who's they were the Raiders broadcast crew?
Where the guys doing the game. But I thought there
were two crews because they was there. Yeah, because they
introduced another cruise. Oh did they really Yeah?
Speaker 3 (12:54):
I mean, I maybe I just completely stoned through. But yeah, no,
cam Miller was from North Dakota State. Okay, maybe pretty yeah,
maybe I got it.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Maybe I heard them wrong. So why are you being
so quiet about your team? Why?
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Why is it just you making fun of me with
what happened with the Raiders and their loss of eight
of the Niners? Why are you being so uh? Why
are you being so quiet about the offense?
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Well, I was feeling better, you know, I'm ready to go.
Two is ready to go? And I keep reading how
to I don't know if they replay this or they
bring it back up. How we're still working on that
friendship with Tyreek Hill? And then I hear about how
a chance.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Is gonna be at what? What was the quote in
days two weeks, days two weeks? What the hell does
that mean? Days two weeks? The week starts in what
two weeks? So if there's weeks at the end, you're
gonna miss the opener. But they're not too concerned about
missing the opener. I'm okay, you're a doctor now. I
I just days and weeks is exactly what he said.
(13:51):
I'm just not feeling I'm not feeling it. This year.
It just sometimes I feel good because it's the easiest
schedule I think in in football.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
But jeez, at least we have a good backup quarterback
this year, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
You know who else looked pretty good today? Qu Yours,
Quinn Yours. When he had the.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
Opportunity, he threw two touchdown passes. So were you even
dialed in? Are you not like getting fired up about
what Ali Gordon's doing or anything? I mean, no, you
laugh if a chant can go, it's a pretty good
rookie coming in from Oklahoma State.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
No, no, no, it's I have a feeling it's gonna
be a bad year for me. I mean, my Arizona
Wildcats already were I'm feeling a little nervous about them.
I'm feeling nervous about just the whole Big twelve thing.
I'm feeling nervous about the Dolphins. I just I can't
go through another losing year. But it feels like that's
what's gonna happen to me. I'm getting prepared for, like
(14:44):
what you go through every year, I'm getting prepared.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
For allows a year.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Well, I mean it misery loves company, Yeah, So I
mean I'd love to have you on board for the
misery that I.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Feel your team's not gonna be very good this year anyway.
Talking about the Raiders, you're gonna you're gonna be horrible
this year.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Did you the greatest run that's ever been run before?
Apparently you need to reset your expectations there, buddy. Hey,
by the way, one update, I've also got eyes here
on the Ravens Cowboys game. No, Dak Prescott doesn't look
like well, there's seven thirty to go in the second quarter,
so obviously you're not gonna see it in the starters anyway.
Twelve seven, the Ravens have the lead over the Cowboys,
inching towards halftime. You had a little slide to start today,
(15:22):
inn you Holy smokes, you're lucky for the Texans.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
They pulled you out. Oh my goodness, might you see
my picks.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
It's been tough this year because a lot of the
starters have been playing it at different times. Griz, I
haven't quite figured it out which team's playing the starters
against two.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
I started off three and all and then I got
fire hard geez I And you know what so funny
is I was gonna look like I was gonna go
five and oh this morning. I mean all my picks
were winning and winning. Yeah, I'm like, oh, this is
a winner. This is a winner. This is a winner.
And now they're just like the sports gods is killing me, man,
it's destroying me right now. Geez. I'm sorry. Well, love
(16:00):
when I lose you love that. You know what? When
I saw you were three and oh last night? But
was that right?
Speaker 3 (16:05):
You went three and oh last night in your picks.
I was surprised you didn't call the boss man, Scott
Shapiro to see if you could do it a late
night show or I guest it. I thought you just
wanted to get on the Aaron Crow or something. So
I was proud of you.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
I thought I was waiting to see if I was
going to go ten and oh today.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
I was already looking up odds on what you do
is when you go ten and oh, and I was
gonna bring it up and what seriously I would when
the look I was gonna go five and oh. I
was gonna put something out on Twitter, going, am I
gonna lose a game today?
Speaker 2 (16:30):
Oh? My goodness is easy.
Speaker 4 (16:32):
It's like shooting fish in a barrel and then one
after it's like every game stopped scoring.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
They didn't do this, they don't don't kick the field goal,
turn it over. Geez, everything fell apart for crying out loud.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Bottom fell out. Yeah, Bottom was horrible. Well update it later.
Plus this, this, by the way, is not gonna slow
Ni down. He's got a boatload of picks for the
games tomorrow and Monday and probably even looking ahead to
next week's final week of the national Goodness.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
The preseasons done. Get into the good stuff now, you
know exactly all right? When we come back.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Speaking of the preseason being done, it seems like it's
going to be a never ending circus in Cleveland, the
quarterback battle.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
But I got Dylan Gabriel's back.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
I think he's being taken a little out of context,
and we'll dive into it next right here on College
Sports Saturday, stick around.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Hi, this is Jay.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
I'm the producer of the Paula and Toni Fusco Show.
Usually in these promos they ask you to listen to
the show. I'm here to ask you please don't listen
to the show. The hosts are two absolute morons who
have the dumbest takes on sportsmagicable. Don't listen to the
show so it can get cancels.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
What the hell get him? Ignore that fool. Listen to
the Tony Fusco Show on the iHeartRadio app or wherever
you get your podcasts. He's still moving.
Speaker 6 (17:49):

Speaker 3 (18:01):
I coming up in a bit, uh breeze. Got all
the scores we had eleven game?
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Well we have?
Speaker 3 (18:06):
We got one more game still to kick off? Eleven
games today still to come tonight on the NFL Network
Cardinals Broncos.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Wow. Jared Stidham V.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
I had a look real quick to double check who
the Cardinals backup quarterback evens right now? Is it still
Kyler Murray? Is either backup quarterback anyway? That's coming up
a little bit later on tonight. And to kick off
next hour Jacoby Brissett, by the way, back up for
the Arizona Cardinals to kick off next hour. Arnie Stanier,
have you been following the playoff buzz in college football today?
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Yes? I did.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
I did it also I wanted to get something else
next hour too.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Well, I mean you make the Roman numeral rundown this
biggest topic of the day.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
I know you're being nice, but I was shocked about
I have this on the Roman numeral thirteen about what
Benzel Washington said about me.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
So anyway about you, guess. So I was looking at that,
I noticed that that was that was Roman numeral thirteen.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Yeah, okay, thirteen. So I noticed in Roman numeral eight,
which simply says Jerry Jones Roman numeral nine, I saw
that you wanted to get into the Travis Kelcey interview
Roman numeral thirteen Denzel Washington. There was a Roman numeral
seventeen about Mike McDaniel, and I think what Roman numeral
eighteen anti Casey. Yeah, I feel like you've got things
(19:18):
that a lot of things that you want to yell about,
is what I'm noticing here in those five little Roman
numeral numbers.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Because I can't imagine you're happy with Jerry Jones.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
No, No, I know you're mad at Travis Kelcey because
of his comments, even though even though Denzel was talking
about you and you love his movies.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
I think you're mad at him.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
You hate the chemistry professor, and you'll take any chance
you can to take a shot at Kansas City, all right,
which is just anger feel for you.
Speaker 4 (19:43):
I think you got what five of the six. I'll
pretend like you got one wrong and I won't say
which one it is.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
John, Okay, fair enough, fair enough, I like it.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
But yeah, the college football playoff buzz today, Pete Damill
dropped a bomb at about I don't know noon that said,
the Big Ten has been populating and an idea of
expanding the college football playoff to twenty four to twenty
eight teams.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
So I acted like it was going to happen this year.
I'm like, what's going on? Oh my goodness, this is crazy.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
Hey, I can guarantee you this for twenty twenty five
into the twenty sixth season, you get a twelve team playoff.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
That's the only thing I can guarantee you the future.
Have no idea, right.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
No clue, but we'll talk about that coming up here
in just a bit, Arnie. I want to play this
for you. It's the biggest story going in sports right
now today. No shad Or Sanders, No Shadoor Sanders for
the Browns because it what an oblique injury. So Dylan
Gabriel got the start looked pretty good, and in game
they go down for sideline interview and here is what
the former Sooner Great had to say.
Speaker 7 (20:42):
You know, there's entertainers and there's competitors, and I totally
understand that, and my job is to compete, and that's
what I'm focused on doing.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Of course, we're.
Speaker 7 (20:50):
Doing this mid game, but you know, it's something that
I'll get used to and just want to be the
best team that I can and create an environment where
we can all go do our best work.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
That's all we want to do.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Thirteen of eighteen, By the way, for Gabriel today, one
hundred and forty three yards did throw an interception, was
sacked twice.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
But I thought looked pretty good.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
But a lot of people felt like that was some
sort of shot at shadh Or Sanders.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
And I guarantee you Annie Spaniard took it that way.
How could it not be? It was? How good? How
could it not be? You know what? You know what
it sounded like, Chris go ahead.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
It sounded like somebody got in his ear getting him ready,
all hyped up for the game and goes, look.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
You're not here to be an entertainer. You're here to
be a competitor. Let's go, let's go, let's get out there,
and it just got stuck in his head and he
repeated it on the interview. Of course he was talking
about Shuldur said, of course he was. He was. What
was it who was he talking about? What was he
talking about, Chris? The media?
Speaker 3 (21:45):
And that's the whole thing, because the media, Yeah, the
media is you're the entertainers. Because the question had to
do with all the talk around the quarterback Soka and
the quarterback battle.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Yeah, it's it's by no means what he meant.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Can I tell you, I've never heard anybody say I'm
not here to be an entertainer when they're talking about
the media. Well never, I've never heard the media being
called entertainers.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
You haven't heard.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
You haven't heard with your amazing picks, you haven't heard
that you might be here for the entertainment value.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
No, believe me, that's the last thing I hear from people.
Matter of fact, a tweet we got today called me repulseim.
I'll get to that later on.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Here's the question that was asked to him.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Yes, you gave us some fabulous wisdom on how you
tune out the noise and you don't let it infiltrate yourself.
Will you share with that? Will you share that with
everybody at home? And when they the noise is basically
everybody talking about this quarterback battle, and so there's context
to it. And I'll tell you this much. I'll ask
(22:45):
for Dylan Gabriel because I was around him.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
That's not in that.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Dude, you're trying to lay out someone, get in his
ear and fire them up. It's like midway through the
second quarter. I don't think you could see a dude
more chill. There is nothing, nothing related to Shador Sanders
in that, and it's all about the hype and the
talk around it. When I can tell you from being
around to dude, I thought he did play well. I
thought the interception wasn't his fault. We'll probably get to
that later on. I matter of fact, I don't think
(23:09):
any of the quarterbacks have to be cut. I think
at the end of the preseason there'll be other teams
looking to pick up Sanders or Dylan Gabriel and see
what they could do to have them on their team
as a backup. With all that being said, though, I
do believe somebody said that to him he was chill
on the sideline, but it was a funny thing to say.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
I've never heard that before.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
And there's a reason why people think it was a
shot at shaduor Sanders. And a lot of people think
that Chris, not just me, A lot of people.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Okay, that's great, but more at what point do you
not say, hey, you're wrong. At what point do you
not say, geez, eighty two percent of our listeners think
that he was thinking a shot at Sanders. Maybe I'm wrong.
How about that when you have the guy that's basically
standing up there telling you, yeah, that's not what it meant.
When you have the person that asked the question retweet it,
(24:02):
retweet it and say, hey, don't take this out of context.
That's not what he meant.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Albert Brier and other reporters are saying this wasn't a shot,
but a bunch of dopes on the internet are like,
I know what he said, I know what he meant.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
It's what you sound like right now? Do we have
do we have a producer today? Do we can if
we ever today? Not today?
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Can you get the producer guy to put it up
on Twitter as a poll and we'll ask people. You
could put it on your own poll, Arenie. You could
do this just one put it at some poll. I
am telling you it will be two to one in favor.
It was a shot against.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Okay, but again I'm telling you, well, we're all we're all.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
Yes, you're all a bunch of dopes, because he's standing
up there telling you, here's what I said, here's what
it meant.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
The question was even misleading. You act like it's not
even possible that it was a shot. It shouldn't. That's right,
That's exactly what I'm acting like.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
Okay, okay, I like, we're just all crazy for even
thinking about something like that.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Oh, I completely understand how you would think it when
you heard it, But if.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
That crossed about when I first was, I was at you.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
We're giving you evidence that tells you that's not what
he meant, and it's like you're just blowing by that
isn't ignoring everything I'm laying out.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
Excuse me, excuse me, counselor is that the same evidence
that Michigan swore upon that they didn't do anything wrong?
Is that the same thing you're talking about close to
I'm just wondering.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Out of order, it's a completely unrelated case.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
You can't bring in something from a college investigation, overrolled counselor.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
I mean, it's that, but that's people today.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
It's like, oh no, no, no, here's the evidence, here's
here's here's what's going.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
I don't care.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
This was my initial thought and I'm going with it.
It was a shot, dude. He's the most chill guy
on the planet. He's one of the things.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
I didn't think he meant it purposely. I just thought,
like I said that, maybe somebody said it to him
before the game and it got stuck in his mind
and he happened to repeat it.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
That's all.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Well, when we come back to the Fox Sports Radio studios,
we'll check an early perusal of your tweets. But Brianna
Merrow is in the house and she's got everything that's trending,
including Brie a great day and by the way, guys
are cooking on Friday night.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
I missed you. I missed you, but goodyear you guys.
You guys never say that to me. I never Oh
we miss you, Arnie, Yeah, we miss you.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
You literally asked two minutes ago if we even have
a producer and pretend like.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
How would I know we've had a producer. Nobody talks to.
Speaker 8 (26:27):
Me before the You didn't even know my last name
last week.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Apparently know your first day, I know your last.
Speaker 8 (26:33):
Day, and I'm supposed to just take that and be like.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Oh, what is my middle name?
Speaker 5 (26:42):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (26:42):
There you go. You know my middle name.
Speaker 9 (26:45):
Is Seinfeld wrote an episode about me Spaniard.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Yeah, close enough. You see you didn't even know my
middle name. How about that?
Speaker 8 (26:52):
Gosh, yeah, my bad. Okay.
Speaker 9 (26:54):
Anyways, still in Week two of the NFL preseason, like
you guys were talking about, the Rams are on top
with the Chargers seven to six. Justin Herbert did play
his first ever preseason game, went two of five for
forty six yards. Taylor Heineke is getting the reps right now.
I'm like kind of waiting for Trey Lance, like I
don't know where he's at.
Speaker 8 (27:13):
Yeah, that's a little odd. That's just a little odd
to me.
Speaker 9 (27:16):
A Rams quarterback sets in Bennett eight for eleven eighty
four yards and one touchdown. The Buccaneers are beating the
Giants fourteen to seven.
Speaker 8 (27:24):
Is at halftime right now.
Speaker 9 (27:25):
Teddy Bridgewater six of eleven eighty five yards and two touchdowns,
one of those touchdowns was to rookie wide receiver Amika Egbuka,
who everybody has been talking about this offseason. He looks
really good, so that'll be fun to watch. I think
he's gonna be like a big fantasy guy, especially Mike
Evans goes down like you know, every like three weeks
in regular season and then going the Ravens are on
(27:47):
top of the Cowboys fifteen and seven, less than a
minute to go in the second quarter. The Giants and
Jets are at halftime seven is six. Jackson dart is
In was in before they went to half time. I'm sorry,
Russell Wilson four of seven, one hundred and eight yards and
one interception. And then earlier today you guys were talking
about the Browns. They beat the Eagles twenty two to thirteen,
(28:09):
Dylan Gabriel thirteen of eighteen long with one hundred and
forty three yards. In Major League Baseball, the Mets got
their third win in their last seventeen games after they
defeated the Mariners three to one. Seattle is one game
back of the Astros in the Al West. The National
Shout out the Feelings two to zero, and the Blue
Jays crushed the Rangers fourteen to two, and just to
circle back really quick to the NFL preseason, the forty
(28:29):
nine Ers defeated the Raiders twenty two to nineteen. In
the article about the game, they talked about Tom Brady's
outfit and I Chris, I just wanted to do the input.
Yes I did. I just don't. I don't know if
we needed to like know that. I am confused, Like,
I mean, are we talking about like you know, Arthur
(28:50):
Blank whatever he's wearing?
Speaker 8 (28:52):
No, yeah, or like is it.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Was he wearing?
Speaker 3 (28:54):
I didn't see he literally was kind of just like
Al Davis back in the day. To be honest with you,
I just black white shirt.
Speaker 9 (29:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
I mean listen, I'll tell you what for what's Brady now?
Forty three forty four?
Speaker 2 (29:07):
Ye? You look great? Yeah, I just but still I don't.
Speaker 8 (29:10):
Mean, yeah, what do you think? So you didn't need that?
Speaker 5 (29:13):
Right?
Speaker 2 (29:13):
I didn't need it? No, not at all.
Speaker 8 (29:15):
Okay, just wondering, but okay, can.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
I really be an old fuddy duddy? Can I just
be that old man here? Real quick?
Speaker 3 (29:22):
I don't need it in sports period, and we do
it all the time in the NBA. It's like here
comes Russell Westbrook and they're like wearing the most ridiculous
outfit or the most fashionable one, depending on where your
taste is. I'm not here for the red and they're
doing it in football right here. It comes so and
so walking down from the bus and through the scale,
(29:43):
I mean, does that make me a terrible person?
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Bree?
Speaker 3 (29:45):
If I don't even care that I what these guys
are wearing too of the game, I don't care.
Speaker 8 (29:49):
Well, I'm a chick. And so, like I was like super,
I was kind of annoyed that I had to read
about it. Oh okay, yeah, and I'm just like, yeah,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
I don't know.
Speaker 9 (29:58):
I just I don't think it's really like important or
applicable or wow, he's going for that.
Speaker 8 (30:03):
Al Davis looks like, okay, well let's.
Speaker 9 (30:05):
See if I don't know, if you actually make some
decisions and whatever, then you can kind of bring up.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
The Raiders actually tweeted it, which I kind of found
to be a little bit weird on their official Twitter account,
So you can, yeah, you can go back.
Speaker 8 (30:17):
That's little odd, but yeah, back to you guys.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
Thank you all right, Hey, thanks Brice. Uh, Bree's got
updates all night long. Oh this is a there's a
lot of good questions here about this weekend that you
have going on, Arnie, because you're moving, but yet you're
still not moving rapid Porcupine rights. Arnie filling in tonight
will do anything to avoid packing his house.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Is that true? My wife came back. She's here for
the weekend. We've spent seven hundred and fifty dollars at
Costco Healthy Living, and I forget, forget we're a trade
in tunnel, just to make sure you have enough groceries
while she's gone. She had.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
She's cooking up a storm. But I don't like taking
stuff out of the freezer and you know, defrosting it
and doing all that work.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
But I'm because I'm gonna have to.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
That's because you want to eat well, you want to
be healthy, Arnie, Man, get your orange theory going.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
I know I haven't been the orange theory since you left,
since my wife left, I've not been one time.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
But that's because it's too hard.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
I have to get up at like six o'clock in
the morning, fak dog, walk the dog, and then I
get home, I get tired.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
I want to take a nap.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
Or something, especially if the trophy husband. You are man,
you don't need to be stressed out to terribly much.
Speaker 5 (31:24):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
And then rapid Porcupine followed up with does Arnie even
know his wife's last name?
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Yeah? I just told her to be no math, What
are you talking about? You see?
Speaker 4 (31:35):
Somebody really ripen me before the even the show started today?
Speaker 2 (31:38):
What you usually I'm the one that takes the drubbings
early off. See the piece of cake I had before
the show, the pre show dessert I had as a
very large piece of cake, some that I would never
eat that before I did a sports radio show, a
large piece. How the hell are you gonna sit there
for the one hour of radio time you get a week?
It makes no sense to me. You're repulsive? Repulsive, dude,
(32:03):
that's a big word. How do you know I had
that whole piece?
Speaker 4 (32:07):
How do you know I didn't split it with my
wife and my Did you split it with your wife?
Speaker 2 (32:11):
No? I didn't. How do you know that?
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Though?
Speaker 10 (32:15):
Are the word choice of repulsive suggests some real animosity?
Speaker 6 (32:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (32:19):
I know, funny, but that when I went on that
person's account, she says she's blind.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
Well, then, how do you know how big of a
piece I had. If you're blind yet, I don't understand
you're blind, but you know I've made a big out
of myself.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
God, here's one from nature Boy who writes, Gabriel should
just say, quote, I can't help it if we have
to deal with a preseason Bronni type EPO, baby, let's
move on.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
No, then you would have said that as you're.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Talking about I'm not denying that.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
Absolutely in the context that context that it's been laid
out there. Absolutely understand where you think it is. I'm
here to tell you not. Here was Gabriel's clarification, Arnie.
This was in the post game press conference with the
Cleveland media.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
All about our team.
Speaker 7 (33:07):
You know what I mean and each other. I would
never make that, and I said it before. That's why
it's it's interesting. But for me, it's I've explained that
entertainers are you all confetitor That's what.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
I am and all my teammates and we both have
jobs to do.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
So that's it.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
There you go, there's the clarification. Show that. Ouch, it
was not a shot.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
But I'll tell you what, it's not gonna stop anyone
that or I don't know any other attempted clarification. You know, people,
are you already? Are people gonna lose their minds over this? Because,
by the way, the NFL account tweeting it out doesn't
help too terribly much either.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
I know, I know, so, I mean, you know, that
just stirs it up when somebody like when something like
that happens.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Yeah, absolutely, all right, let's get a quick break in
or the text and tweets have been really good at
the show. You can find this at Stinking Genius one.
I'm at Plank show. Everybody go tweet at as at
Fox Sports Radio. Don't forget you gotta check out the
Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel. Tons of great videos from
many of our Fox Sports Radio shows. To search Fox

Speaker 2 (34:18):
It's already Plank on Fox Sports Saturday.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
All right, it's already in Plank on a Saturday night.
I haven't screwed that up yet.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
You proud of me? Not go on, I pis you
look at a lot better on the late games. Oh
are they? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (34:38):
I have the Giants. They're up there crushing the Jets,
so that I mean, it's good. It's it's fourteen to six.
I don't know if that's really crushing them. Yeah, that's
they're crushing them.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Stop. What is the definition of crushing a team in sports?
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (34:51):
Fourteen six and Jets look like garbage. That's that's the definition.
And they just had an interception too.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
It happens. It happens.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
Everybodys talking about how great the watch out for the
Giants now they look really good.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Watch out for them snoop people. And it's been disgusting
to watch. It's just been terrible. Ian and I have
been going back and forth. I don't know a lot
about the quarterback for the New York Jets, but at
one point I look up and he threw two completions
in a row. Adrian Martinez. Oh that's Adrian Martinez. Is
(35:24):
that the guy they played for Nebraska. Yeah, he looks
like a different person Kansas State. Well, he's still throwing
the ball terrible. But I looked up a couple of times,
like day he's doing some darts. I'm like Dan and
then look too bad. And Ian literally said what I
think the exact opposite, And so I started watching a
little bit more.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
I think I saw his only two completions better than
Justin Fields, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Boy, Justin Fields had a one eighty two, didn't he.
We went from thinking all was great and all was
well and look out for Justin Fields to him going
out and looking pretty pedestrians.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
Oh that's one thing I won't change my mind on
and say all to last play for the New York Jets.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
I mean, even as bad as now you think the
Dolphins are gonna be, you still think that they're.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
They're worse the Jets. They're worse than the Dolphins. Field's
one for five tonight for.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
Just you know, the Dolphins dropped the whole game on
the on their season win total.
Speaker 3 (36:18):
How but isn't that about just people betting on them
more than anything else? Like, wouldn't that be betting on
the over a little bit more?
Speaker 2 (36:25):
Annie?
Speaker 10 (36:25):
They bet Arney's tirade last week shifted the odds.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
I bet, yeah, yeah, that's exactly what happened. They used
to be eight and a half, now they're seven and
a half. Could you imagine if you bet the a
million dollars on the under eight and a half, and
then a million dollars now in the over seven and
a half, you got a free bet to win two
million dollars.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
I don't know if math is mathing on that, but
it's not mathing on that. It is math. You're not
necessarily the best math guy, Arnie.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
I mean I am a pretty good math guy. Okay,
I mean self proclaimed here, but I'll right with it.
Your math is on I'm going.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
With I dared to tell me that's not true that
I didn't just come up with the can you can
you say it again?
Speaker 2 (37:03):
If you bet the under eight and a half for
like a rail a million das and then it dropped down.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
To seven and a half, and you bet the over
seven and a half, if the number hits on exactly eight,
you win both bets.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
You win two million dollars.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Yeah, but what are the percentages and chances of that
actually happening.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
Well, somebody must have bet on the Dolphins under eight
and a half. That's why it started to drop.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
I didn't realize. I thought it had always been at
seven and a half. I thought it was eight. I
know because I've been using.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
There was this Yahoo sheet that I've been using quite
a bit, and I thought they were always right there
at seven and a half with the Raiders, but there
was an interesting conversation to be had. Buck Rising was
bringing it up right before we hit the air, yeah,
and they were talking about quarterbacks under the most pressure,
and then he kind of like fine tuned it and
pigeonholed it and said quarterbacks under the most pressure under
(37:55):
twenty five years of age, like guys would have to
win now. And there's eleven starters under the age of
twenty five right now in the or at least projected starters.
If we think that Anthony Richardson is going to be
the starting quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, that's eleven. So
in your mind, if you were to say, of those
eleven guys, and I'll give him to you here real quick,
these are eleven projected starting quarterbacks twenty five and under
(38:18):
Anthony Richardson, JJ McCarthy, Michael Pennox Junior seems like he's thirty.
Cam Ward bo Nicks, Caleb Williams is on that list,
as is Drake May, Bryce Young.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
You've got Brock Perdy. You got c J.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Stroud and Jane Daniels. I think Trevor Lawrence is on
that list too, if I'm not mistaken. I think I
think that's crazy.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
Twenty five Yeah, yeah, yeah, bright Sjung is Bryce young
is because if he doesn't have a good year, he
might not even have the whole year to prove himself.
If he plays bad, they'll yank him in the middle
of the year and he may never get a starting
job again in the NFL. That he may never even
be giving another chance against.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
His whole career could be on the line. He's got
the Shones, is getting another chance with the Colts. I
think he's gonna get. Zach Wilson is getting another chance
to be a backup with the Dochin. But that's the backup.
Bryce Shung is a starter right now. I don't think.
I don't.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
Well, we just opened up the show with guys who
have gone other places and rescue their career, and now
you're saying his whole NFL career is on the line.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
If you don'yeah, I don't know if he's gonna get
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
There's not too many people that have resurrected their career,
though when I gave you those two, I gave you
backup Ones, Mac Jones, Zach Wilson.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
They're they're doing it in.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Trying to do it, they're trying to do it right.
But we got great Sam Darnold Baker Mayfield. I like
to go old school on this. Rich Gannon Geno Smith
is a great example of this that's going on in
the NFL, right right.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
You wrote letters, he didn't write back.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
I didn't look at this as make or break their
entire career. But you're just saying, in general, if all
those quarterbacks, the twelve quarterbacks we name, the one that
you say is under the most pressure is Bryce.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
Young the ship Yeah, yeah, I mean until you through
the twenty five. And I would have to say that
Tua would also be under a lot of pressure.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
But he decided that contract. Yeah he's gonna be around
for a while.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
Yeah, But it doesn't mean that if something happens with
McDaniel and they fire the professor and you bring in
a new staff. Let's say it gets really bad this year, Arnie.
Let's say it gets really bad and you make a
move to get rid of not only a coach, but
they decide we want to go with someone tougher. We
want to go with someone that's more of our new
(40:22):
coaches kind of guy. What if they look at a
quarterback in the draft. I mean, maybe there is that
pressure for him at twenty six.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
I don't. I know he's got the deal, but you
feel confident in him right now. I don't know. We'll
talk about next thing. I know.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
I asked that question with ten seconds left. Sorry, I'll
ask it when we come back. It's already in playing
live on a Saturday on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio, Arnie, Hour two.
Speaker 3 (40:47):
Let's do this, let's go, let's go Fox Sports Radio studios.
Uh stinking genius picks coming up a little bit later on.
I got some college football talk ear marked for this hour.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
We just had a very still a bad week zero.
Now I figured it out.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
They week zero no longer exists, so bad Week one,
I think, is what I call it.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Well, and it's here's the thing that.
Speaker 4 (41:10):
They be confused because they have Texas Oklahoma in Week
one and that's not week one.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
That's not week one, but they say it's week one.
I can confirm for you on that one, Arnie, it
is not in Week one. I know, so the week zero,
the history of Week zero in college football isn't a
really deep one. And you know this would be the
you know, handful of games that basically you just kind
(41:36):
of use as an appetizer. But you're already saying no
to you know what I thought week zero was.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
I thought week zero where the games you scheduled late
just in case your coach gets suspended, and you had
a cream puff in Week zero.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
Something like that, so you know you have I'm going
to be suspended this game. That's why we're playing, uh,
Northwest South Iowa State, something like that.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
I don't think it's like that, but I think I
see you.
Speaker 3 (42:01):
Are you trying to make light of what Michigan's gonna
be doing next time?
Speaker 2 (42:04):
I would never make light of something so serious, Chris.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
Right, I understand, but like, for instance, last year, we
only had five are suing me four Week zero games.
One of them got to be a bigger deal because
Florida State got beat by Georgia Tech. Right, But I
mean I'm giving some of the games that have been
Week zero games, Notre Dame Navy, I mean not really
gonna flip the flip the script on that one. You
(42:27):
had Northwestern and Nebraska from Ireland back in twenty twenty two.
But you go through this list and really kind of
started to make its resurgence in twenty nineteen when Florida
and Miami planned in the opening weekend. But it's just
I guess my question is this, Are we gonna make
it a big deal or not? No, We're just gonna
have erratic matchups there.
Speaker 4 (42:44):
You have a top twenty five matchup with Iowa State
and Kansas State, but it's conference game.
Speaker 2 (42:49):
Does that count as a conference game? I'm assuming yes, Oh, absolutely,
because they wouldn't have scheduled each other.
Speaker 4 (42:55):
In the non cong Okay. And then yeah, other than that,
I mean I'm interested in the Hawaii game.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
That's Arizona's first opponent, right, you got really well, there's
really nothing there. And then I don't consider Thursday part
of that first week.
Speaker 3 (43:08):
Now that's still call it week one. They still called
week one. But you realize from two thousand and four
until twenty and sixteen, we didn't play any games in
that first weekend like that. It just everyone kicked off
at the same time. And then in sixteen, like Hawaii
started playing a game. Then the next year, like b
why you played a game and it kind of blew
(43:29):
up a little bit more with like as I mentioned
in twenty nineteen. So beyond the confusion, Arnie, the overriding
question is this, do you need to have beefier appetizers?
In other words, would it be okay to maybe shift
one of those like say Miami Notre Dame to this
opening week and this week quote unquote zero.
Speaker 4 (43:45):
I know I can plan a lot like, oh, we
gotta have better game, and we really do need to.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
I mean, give us like one good game, maybe two
would be nice. I don't think it's necessary because once
the season really gets going, I mean, how many games
can we write down that's like, oh, this is a
good one, this is a good one. I mean literally
what six to ten games, we'll have unbelievable matchups that like.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
You can't miss football. So maybe we don't get in
that week zero. And it's just kind of like the
it's not even an appetizer. It's not like that real
bad appetizer.
Speaker 2 (44:18):
Oh, nobody wants to eat. I disagree that nobody wants
to eat. So you just kind of outsided and not
good stuff comes out.
Speaker 3 (44:25):
Okay, then don't watch next weekend. I say you're gonna
see here and grinch and moan about it. It's like
you get a top twenty five matchup, look all to
its loan see Eastern in your conference that you guys
cry so much about getting national attention and exposure. And
here we go with I was in Kansas State opening
the season, and all you're doing is bitching and moan.
Speaker 4 (44:44):
Yeah, you go ahead and eat the pigs in the blanket.
I'm gonna have the caviat, okay, so.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
You can have both. Oh wow, you don't like pigs
in a blanket, I'll get you out like that.
Speaker 3 (44:53):
I'm saying you can eat both. You don't have to
be picky like this.
Speaker 4 (44:57):
You eat the pigs in the blanket, I'll go for
the caviar and tell me how much you like that
pigs in a blanket over the caviar.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (45:05):
I'm starving for college football, okay. I live in a town,
in a city, in an environment. I work in an
environment that's college football twenty four seven, three sixty five.
You could basically take a salteam cracker and say here
and I'll tell you that appetizer if it's Kansas State
and Iowa State is the greatest thing I've ever eaten
in the world. And if you need to be catered to, well, well,
(45:26):
are you sure you're not a boomer?
Speaker 2 (45:28):
Wait? Hold on, you are a boomer? What are they?
Speaker 3 (45:30):
Are you sure you're not like this new generation that
everything against you need a big no no, no, not
political life. I'm raising two of them where everything needs
to be done for you, Arnie. You got to have
the best of everything. You can't just sit and watch, Oh,
I don't know, two top twenty five teams play.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
That's not enough for you. You're giving me one game.
Speaker 3 (45:48):
You're giving what? How many did you have last week
or the week before that? You had zero? Right, we
had no Let's go man, You got games and all
you want to do is grinch about them.
Speaker 4 (45:57):
I would like more than that. You got to give
me something more than that. You're giving me, like you said,
you giving me a saltine cracker. You're not even giving
me butter to put on the cracker. I'll give you
give me nothing. Is a Top twenty five matchup? Can't
I put something jelly on it? Maybe it is what
need come on?
Speaker 2 (46:14):
Top twenty five matchup between two teams and your conference
that's supposed to be a power what you.
Speaker 4 (46:21):
Don't even need salmon, but i'll put that on top
of a ritchcracker.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
Well, no, you're not quite getting that. You got to
have something for the opening weekend, right and Big Noon
Kick needs its Ohio State game, and you're gonna get
Ohio State in Texas in what would that being?
Speaker 2 (46:34):
Fourteen days?
Speaker 3 (46:36):
That will kick off at eleven am Central time noon
Eastern And by the way, in that same window, you've
got Syracuse in Tennessee. And I don't know about you, Arnie,
I think Syracuse might be a little better than they're
giving him credit for. But you're telling me you just
can't for one moment slum with the rest of us
and enjoy some college football next weekend. You can't do
it until it's Alabama, Florida State. You can't do it
(46:58):
until it's Texas, Ohio State. You can't do it until oh,
I don't know, it's LSU Clemson. That's what you're saying
right now.
Speaker 4 (47:04):
You know, I like to dress nice, but I'll put
on some overalls and slum it with you guys just
for a week until the good stuff comes around.
Speaker 3 (47:11):
Yeah, Hawaiian Arizona, which, by the way, is gonna be
on HBO Max.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
That's where your game is being televised. Hawaii is on HBO.
I don't think I have HBO Max. I think T
and T would be available for you as well too on.
Speaker 4 (47:23):
That, okay, And I don't don't scare me so I
could be able to watch the game or not.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
Don't scare me like you're gonna be able to watch
the game now you're gonna make me look it up.
I don't. I can't trust you like that. Now.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
We're in the midst of watching NFL preseason games, so
allow us a little bit. Don't get mad at me,
Shady Sean. I know you're giving a try to college
football this year. We're watching the Cowboys continue to try
to claw back into this game. They trail the Ravens
with eleven to fifty to go in the third, eighteen
to seven. Chargers trail by one. They're nearing the fourth quarter.
It's ten to nine. The Rams lead at four to
(47:53):
twelve to go in the third. You got the Giants
rolling now over the Jets. That makes Arnie happy.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
He had the Giants that the By the way, if
if Arizona does lose the Hawaii I'm not.
Speaker 3 (48:02):
Coming into work the next night, and did the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers, with six minutes ago in the third quarter,
lead Pittsburgh fourteen to seven.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (48:10):
Broncos are gonna kick off here in about twenty minutes.
Bre He's gonna have you on updates all night long.
So give me some time here, little room in to
roam with two college topics. Yea number one. Let's see
Roman numeral sixteen. Little surprised to see you how the
Michigan story all the way down at sixteen. But I
mean they're really appealing that they get that penalty, and
they're gonna sit there and say, we are appealing this. Yeah,
(48:33):
one of the all time great handslaps in the history
of that it is.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
You know, timing is everything, Chris.
Speaker 4 (48:37):
Firstly, I want to say about whether I think it's
a big penalty or not, but timing is everything. And
when something that happened two years ago, and now you
give me the answer right before the season started, If
you would have given me the answer last year in February.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
I was it, Oh my good, it would have been
the biggest ever in news. Now you've made me wait
two years and right a week before the start of
the season. I barely care anymore. I think they got
what they deserved. I hope.
Speaker 4 (49:10):
You know what it bothered me is the only thing
that would bother me is that how much do they
lose out money? Twenty million, thirty million, whatever it is?
And I know it's supposed to come against the football team.
I hope it doesn't come back and eat up scholarships
for regular students or or something like that. That's what
I don't want to see happen. But they got what
they deserve. There shouldn't have been any postgame ban or
(49:33):
anything like that.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
I can't let that slide.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
What you're worried about the money that's funneled into the
athletic department from the TV deal that the athletic department
has and the football team has. You think that's somehow
going to affect everyone else's in regular people's scholarships.
Speaker 2 (49:53):
Well it sounded good at the time, did it not.
I don't think that's how it works, but well, you
never know. You never know where they're gonna ahead and
make after that. Oh you know what, I'll just let
you cook. I'm along for the ride.
Speaker 4 (50:04):
I mean seriously though, I mean other than that, it
was really just a sup on the wrist they. I mean,
where does this thirty million really count that much against them?
It is kind of a lot of money, and I
don't know where all that comes from, to be honest
with you. But as long as there's no postgame bans
or anything like that, they'll be fine.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
They'll and the coach is gonna be fine. What is it?
I'm confused now is it two games or three games?
Speaker 3 (50:29):
Is he gonna miss? It's a it's three games he's
gonna miss. Right, he'll serve two of those games this
year in the university's already previous you know, decision on
the penalty, and then he'll have one game suspension in
twenty twenty six, so he'll miss the opener most likely
in twenty twenty six.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
Is that when they schedule like a double A team
right before well, they're playing Western Michigan in Germany next
year'll start.
Speaker 4 (50:52):
Can they change that and like play at home against uh,
you know, like a junior college.
Speaker 3 (50:57):
I do know Western Michigan is pretty good on that front.
I think for them as far is getting it in
another country. But here's here's my great confusion on this. Yeah,
I've never seen more people agree that something very bad happened.
Maybe I should rephrase that something very illegal happened and
that the process was in depth and just about everyone
(51:17):
in greed agrees that a rule was broken. Yes, And
whenever it came time to make that decision, they even admitted, yeah,
this was probably enough to go ahead and give a
team a postseason ban.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
But magically they just decide not to. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
I mean they just decide to say, yeah, but we
don't want to affect this year's players or this team.
I mean, what about Miami and what they went through
about a decade ago.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
They were going to get a postseason ban?
Speaker 3 (51:42):
If they're sitting there, why if they're sitting there saying
it was worthy of a postseason ban, right, I mean,
I don't like it.
Speaker 2 (51:50):
Whenever the.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
Consistent from Michigan side, and I'm I'm pretty pro Michigan
on this because I think it's stupid that it's even
again the rules to advance scout. But at some point,
you know, you get busted and you realize it goes
from just a simple probably slap on the hand to
where some of the allegations just are crazy that were
around this.
Speaker 2 (52:11):
But number want to tell you why they probably didn't
give them a ban why, well, I know why, but
go you tell me why. You think they didn't want
to affect anyone on this year's team. They didn't want
to make this group of Wolverines the next few years
pay for something that was in the past. Oh oh,
I was thinking of something different. What was your take?
My take is that you're gonna give us a postseason band. Okay,
(52:33):
wait till we come out to the media and tell
you how many other teams are doing this and how
they're doing it, and then you're gonna give everybody else
a postseason bad and we could probably turn into like
every team in the top twenty five. You want to
get ugly, let's get ugly. They went, okay, okay, We're sorry, No,
no postseason bad.
Speaker 4 (52:50):
We don't want to hear anything else. Don't tell us
anything else. We don't want to hear any more.
Speaker 2 (52:55):
And they probably just said, fine, you know you don't
like that the conspiracy theory or what.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
I'm not here to shoot down any conspiracy theory that's
out there, Arnie.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
If you feel like the Michigan team that was doing this.
Ya gonna say you think Michigan's de Dowey team doing this? Chris, Yes,
real to the degree that they were absolutely well, maybe
you don't think any of the other teams are doing
something a little shady.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
Oh, I think football in the attempt to get signs
on game day is entirely shading. Look at look at
what everyone goes through. But as far as teams buying
tickets and going to games to advance scout and then
chronicling all the hand signs, I don't necessarily a big
wreck in Nascar, I don't necessarily think that's happening on
the rag here in college football. I think Connor Stallions
was pretty legit. But you give Connor Stallions, a guy
(53:39):
who's never gonna coach in college anyway, an eight year
show cause, you give the head coach a ten year
show cause that doesn't even start for four more years.
So Jim Marnball's never going to coach in college football
by the show cause. It means, hey, you got to
come up with a lot of reasons why you're gonna
be allowed.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
To coach again. And yet then the only penalty.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
Is a fine. I mean, it's just jaw dropping, aren't he?
It really truly is. With every minute in every fabric
of time we spent talking about this story, and I.
Speaker 2 (54:07):
Think it would have been more of an uproar.
Speaker 4 (54:09):
Like I said, timing is everything if this was the
penalty given right after.
Speaker 2 (54:13):
The eight months afterwards, right right exactly.
Speaker 4 (54:16):
I think it was given during the slow time and
then people have a chance to really comprehend it. But
now that it's two years later, NFL's go in college,
like you said, is a week away, and so much
other going on.
Speaker 2 (54:29):
That people just like I forget about it. Where we're
doing this thing. We're moving on.
Speaker 4 (54:33):
By the way, Michigan fans are celebrating this, you know,
should Dave Portnoy smoking a cigar and just laughing about
this whole.
Speaker 3 (54:40):
Thing with as much as everyone talked about it and
as much as they basically confessed to and the evidence
that they had hid things in that or at least
tried to hide with the leading of text messages and
all those things, to come away with it with a
and national championship that is untouched.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
I mean, there's no oh asterisk or black mark on
that thing. Baby.
Speaker 3 (55:03):
It's the NCAA is like no, No, you get to
keep that and only have to pay a fine.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
That's a big fine. Dude. I cannot believe. I cannot
believe that they're gonna protest to say no.
Speaker 4 (55:14):
I can't believe you think they're the team that does this,
you know, I can't believe it. I mean, like you said,
maybe not to this extent that there's got to be
other schools cutting the rules somehow.
Speaker 2 (55:23):
There's got to be there.
Speaker 3 (55:24):
Oh, I mean, I don't doubt it, but I just
I don't think that this the advance the advanced scouting
that Michigan's doing. I don't think it's as prominent as
you have created in your mind that it is. I
think that it was something that Connor Stallions realized that
he was very good at, right, and that it helped
give them an edge on games.
Speaker 2 (55:44):
So there's not a whole seating section for just roague
coaches seiling sides. I thought they're not walking around wearing
fake mustaches or anything. All right.
Speaker 3 (55:52):
Then the other thing from college football today here real quick,
the Big Ten has just been a thorn in everyone's side.
And I'm in this in a good way. Whenever it
comes to trying to get to a sixteen team playoff,
which I think is where we are right now, Arnie,
I think that's where we're headed.
Speaker 2 (56:08):
But wait, there is more. There's more.
Speaker 3 (56:11):
The Big Ten has begun populating an expanded college football
playoff idea that could include twenty four or twenty eight teams.
Now that's just an idea at this point, but the
idea comes from the Big tens intent of keeping the
conference races meaningful and making November regular season football games
(56:31):
meaningful across the league, and according to this theory, it
incentivizes strong non conference schedules. The twenty eighteen format would
put twenty college football games on campuses, which would accentuate
the success of last year's college football playoffs.
Speaker 2 (56:48):
Or we're taking away the conference championships, right, but we
are taking away the conference championship games. I don't know
if I like that. I kind of like the conference
championship games. You know, it's like the precursor. Though sometimes
it really doesn't work out. But I like to, you know,
win and advance, though sometimes it doesn't doesn't happen that way,
(57:09):
you know what I mean. Sometimes it doesn't work out
where you lose it, you could still advance there so
that's a lot, I mean, how muny lot of teams. Yeah,
I'm okay with it, though I'm not. I'm fine with it.
Speaker 4 (57:22):
I I think that twenty four to twenty eight is
the most I would do with at I know people.
Speaker 2 (57:27):
Can say, oh, twelve is the most I do with,
But I'm okay with it.
Speaker 4 (57:30):
Chris, I'm ready to go and you know, get let's
get twenty four teams in there.
Speaker 2 (57:34):
I love the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (57:35):
So the fact that we're gonna have twenty four to
twenty eight and have more games, I like it.
Speaker 2 (57:40):
It doesn't leave the elite up there. Every year we're
going it's Alabama gonna get in and you know, at
least we'll you know, give the the you know, the
teams down there at the bottom of chance to get
on in. Well, will it?
Speaker 3 (57:54):
Because it is I don't know, there's always done intended consequences.
You act like they're gonna be looking out for the
little guy. I don't think that's going to be the
case at all.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
Out of twenty four to twenty eight teams, you got
to get a couple of little guys in there, like two,
maybe four, because.
Speaker 4 (58:09):
There we had how many did we have this year,
we had what like SMU.
Speaker 2 (58:12):
And well SMU's and the ACC. Now I know that,
but still they're kind of like the little guy though.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
They're not in the playoffs if they're not in the ACC. Yeah,
but here's the deal. You mentioned the elimination of title
game conference side games. In a twenty eight team model,
autobids would go to the Big ten in the SEC
seven each, the ACC and the Big twelve would get five.
So maybe Arizona could actually make the playoffs. Yes, exactly,
(58:39):
And there's also two whole bids for leagues outside the
power for.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
The idea again in its early stages.
Speaker 3 (58:48):
Tony Pettiti ranted by his own league on Wednesday, and
it has begun being shared by others. It is an
evolved idea from playing games on site gives more access
and inventory.
Speaker 2 (59:01):
Right, you said on site too, write no neutral site games.
Speaker 3 (59:03):
Well there's oh, they're still going to be neutral side games.
They got to make them balls happy. But he said
twenty would put twenty college football games on campus.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
Yeah, I love when they're on campus. I don't.
Speaker 4 (59:14):
I don't like colleges games to be neutral site games,
so I like some home field advantage in that.
Speaker 2 (59:19):
No, matter who gets them, I still like to see
the home field advantage in college.
Speaker 3 (59:23):
So there you go, count down to week zero. Thoughts
on the Michigan penalty. Of course they're going to appeal
it because I guess they're crazy.
Speaker 2 (59:31):
Did you and then afore outrage on that when it
came across on Twitter on the Michigan batalty. Did you think?
I thought there'd be more craziness about it? But I
think because football is everyone's just moved on. Yeah, and
just moved on. Man.
Speaker 3 (59:45):
It's it's I feel it from living. Everyone's just done
with it. It's like, Okay, we'll be moving on now.
So what harball for ten years? Yeah, he wasn't coming
back to the college game anyway. People, you know who's
really mad about this? I know we're up against it Ian, Yeah,
but you know who's real you mad about this? I
brought this up earlier Louisville basketball fans, Oklahoma State basketball fans,
(01:00:06):
Miami football fans, because you know, they were some of
the last people to really get hammered by the NCAA
and Oklahoma States was a postseason ban. And now you
look at this and it's not It's just there's a
lot of there's a lot of teams that got penalized
harshly by the NCAA that are kind of shocked by
this one.
Speaker 2 (01:00:26):
Well, they're not Michigan. Let's be honest. They're not Michigan.
But that is true. But Miami football is pretty high
on that list. You know. That's a that's a beat,
that's a beetle. They almost made the playoffs last year.
Speaker 4 (01:00:37):
I mean, they're not the old of Miami when we
were in the eighties and nineties.
Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
Well, who really is? That's we got a break. We
got a break when we come back. We'll get to
your tweets. It's stinking genius one. I'm at Plank Show.
It's already even Plank on a Fox Sports Saturday. What
game he got on right now? You got eyes on
the Jets Giants? Or are you already moving on?
Speaker 7 (01:00:56):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
What other channel would there be? I mean, what the
other game? The Denver Cardinal game, right that's always coming
on the NFL network. Yeah, that's coming up at the
bottom of the hour.
Speaker 3 (01:01:06):
So I'm keeping tabs on as many as I can.
We're getting the Ravens and the Cowboys here in my
region of the country and not looking good.
Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
For the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
Ravens up twenty one to ten with two twenty three,
two thirty three. Excuse me to go in the third
quarter of that game. This Chargers Rams game has been
a fun one seventeen to fifteen Rams just starting the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
You're not going to convince me. By the way, on
the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
I have the third pick of my fantasy football draft,
and every fantasy football mock draft has the number three
pick taking Ceee Lamb, and I just can't.
Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
I can't bring myself to it. I just go. I'm
not go. I'm not taking a Dallas Cowboy. I'm not
taking a true to yourself man draft Tyreek Hill. No,
I can't do that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:46):
He's like a second round I wanted eight chant round.
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
Can hey chans He's like a top six pick. Are
you serious? Yeah? I'm serious. Awesome. That seems surprising to me.
I looked up the mock drafts. I did that today. Again.
Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
I'm not living the fantasy world like you are. Let's
someone else take them.
Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
Yeah, it's just h Jane being the top a top
six pick, in the top six, I think I'm gonna
take it. Is this a compute to you? Yeah?
Speaker 10 (01:02:16):
It's I think he is a first rounder generally at least. Yeah,
I run simulations, the mock draft simulations.
Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
Someone that gent d number eight. Okay, yeah, I'm gonna
take sa Kuon Barkley. I think it at number three.
Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
You're gonna take a running back at three? I like it. No,
but sa Kuon Barkley, I mean, come on now, I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:02:35):
Is there any I mean, is there a part of
you that can't help? But wonder if it might be
a little bit of a step back for the Eagles
this year? Like, seriously, can Saquon Barkley run any better
than he did last year?
Speaker 6 (01:02:48):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
But the offensive coordinator right exactly?
Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
They lost their O Seed who went on to be
the head coach of the of the Saints. Aren't you
also add all the new faces on defense that they've
had to slew because they've lost guys via free agency.
Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Yeah, but that division's very tough.
Speaker 3 (01:03:05):
I don't have a team that WA's the NFC Championship
game in that division.
Speaker 4 (01:03:09):
I think Washington's a tough team, But I don't think
the Cowboys and the Giants are gonna be very tough
against them. I mean, do you think does that you
think Saawon Barker's gonna have a bad years that would
you just say about the Eagle?
Speaker 5 (01:03:20):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
No, I just I mean in general whenever, whenever you
nerd out on fantasy, I just connect a bit because
I'm I just I don't do fantasy anymore, all right.
I love I love hearing people talk about their teams,
absolutely positively, not but I like how you can apply
it to the game and things that are going on.
Because you're saying, I'm gonna take Saquon Barkley with the
(01:03:41):
third overall picking my fantasy.
Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
But everybody says.
Speaker 4 (01:03:44):
Everybody says cdee lamb everybody, And I'm like, no, I'm
not not doing CD lamb. There's no way now that
with Dak Prescott is the quarterback, what happens if he
goes down?
Speaker 2 (01:03:52):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:03:52):
But again, my question is do you feel like you
can get equal or even better if Saquon than they
had in two twenty four.
Speaker 4 (01:04:02):
I know, I do believe he's not going to put
up that many points or have those long runs. But
I think he's still gonna have a very productive and
good season.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
I got it. Yeah, I don't think he'll be horrible
or anything to that effect. No, no, But I'm just
saying you're number three is pretty big. I spot. I
think there arenie to pass on a pass catcher. Mick
Drives have him at like number five for say Kwan,
but five sets right around there.
Speaker 3 (01:04:26):
He had a two thousand yard season last year, two
thousand yard season. He rushed thirteen touched in his sixteen
games that he played, he rushed for thirteen scores. He
was pretty good whenever he came to catching out of
the background. I think he was the top ten on
the team as far as receivers. I get it. I
get thirty three catches last year, targeted forty three times.
(01:04:48):
I think he saw the fourth most, our third most
targets on the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (01:04:52):
I get it. But I don't know, man.
Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
You know who I really want to running back to
top the season he just had when it was that?
Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
That's tough. Know who I really want? Who won't be there?
Who's that There's only only two slots ahead of me?
And he's a running back? B John Robinson. We really
do lose our minds over running backs. They haven't.
Speaker 4 (01:05:13):
They haven't in every mock draft. Going second in the
mock draft.
Speaker 2 (01:05:18):
Yeas one or two, right, now.
Speaker 4 (01:05:20):
Right now, and I like him. I would like to
take him number number three, but everybody says he's not
going to be there.
Speaker 3 (01:05:27):
Interesting, now you've got me wanting to like, what craziness
is going on here?
Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
Where?
Speaker 4 (01:05:32):
Why are you sound stunned? I don't know why you're
so stunned about some of this. Maybe he'd be stunned
about that, I could see. I could see that.
Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
But John being widely considered the number two pick in theft.
Speaker 4 (01:05:43):
Doing this again the mock draft, I think Chase was
the consensus number one.
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
I like Gibbs. I may take him too, but you
know I'm afraid of Montgomery. So we'll see what.
Speaker 7 (01:05:52):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
I think I'd be all about Jamar Gibbs if I
could get him. But okay, well, fascinating I didn't. I
was not aware. I am like unfrozen cave man lawyer
when it comes to fantasy this year, so nerding out
on college, I'm not aware of your simple times.
Speaker 4 (01:06:04):
I give you the two team guys in the top
ten that just have me scratching my head.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
I told you eight Chan at number nine.
Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
Now, and you want to guess who they have at
number eight from a team that will probably finish in
the last place. The wide receiver from the Giants Neighbors.
Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
Neighbors, Elik Neighbors. Yeah, they have him at number eight.
I wouldn't mind Melik Neighbors. He put up pretty good
numbers last year. Number eight, get out of here. I
mean it depends how big is your league, how many
play teams fourteen ten ten or twelve ten? Yeah, I can't.
Speaker 3 (01:06:38):
Probably get him another guy in the first round here,
first two rounds. But it's fascinating we do in fantasy.
I think nobody knows this better than Mike Harmon and
Dan Byer will fall in love with the possibility of somebody.
Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
I already texted Harmon to see who I should take.
Of course you did, Yeah, you would act like you
don't know who he is. He told me C. D Lamb,
And I'm like, I'm not taking C.
Speaker 6 (01:06:58):
D Lamb.
Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
I'm not doing that. Oh my, did we get throw
an update? We did? Not? Breeze in the house. She
loves fantasy football.
Speaker 3 (01:07:03):
Let's get you caught up on everything going on on
a busy night of National Football League preseason action.
Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
What's going on, bree Well?
Speaker 9 (01:07:10):
First, the battle of LA undrafted free agent Luke Griham
just ran it back for a touchdown to put the
Chargers on top of the Rams twenty two to seventeen,
twelve minutes to go in the fourth quarter, when you
were talking about the Ravens and Cowboys, I went to
go see like the score.
Speaker 8 (01:07:26):
I'm like, oh, what did I miss? Just field goals?
Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
Yeah, exactly, just everything.
Speaker 9 (01:07:30):
Three Tyler loopfield goals and then one Brandon Aubrey field goal.
So doesn't it seem very exciting? I don't have it
on in here. I only have the Giants game in
the Chargers game. But does it seem like I'm missing anything?
Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
I don't think you're missing anything.
Speaker 10 (01:07:41):
Based on a preseason they could be like seventy yard
field goals for all that is good point good kicked.
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
Her for By the way, the kicker for Tampa hit
a seventy two yard field goal in practice today.
Speaker 9 (01:07:51):
Okay, I thought I missed that thing, and then you
just had to throw it in practice.
Speaker 8 (01:07:54):
Like my heart dropped.
Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
I'm like, oh my god, did I miss that before
the game Before the game yet?
Speaker 9 (01:07:58):
Oh okay, well, thank you Arenie that I appreciate that. Okay, awesome, Okay,
less than ten minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
The Bucks and the Steelers are tied up at fourteen.
The Giants just took a thirty twelve lead over the Jets.
I want to say Jamis threw something.
Speaker 8 (01:08:15):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 9 (01:08:16):
I think no, he rushed it in one yard well, yes,
one yard touchdown, thirty twelve, five minutes to go in
the fourth quarter. In Major League Baseball, the Brewers have
a thirteen game win.
Speaker 8 (01:08:29):
Streak on the line right now.
Speaker 9 (01:08:30):
It's the bottom of the tenth inning and they're tied
up with the Reds three to three, so that's crazy.
Their braves are beating the Guardians ten to one bottom
of the eighth inning, and we're all tied up Orioles
and Ashtros for a piece. Then the Yankees are on
top of the Cardinals a nine to seven bottom of
the six inning.
Speaker 8 (01:08:47):
And I just wanted to take like a glance at.
Speaker 9 (01:08:49):
The NASCAR Cup Series. Bubba Wallace is still in the lead.
But there was like this huge crash and how many
drivers were involved.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
I think they are thirteen drivers.
Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
What happens at Richmond break gets loose, they go up
the track, it just takes out all of them.
Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
They're just done, man like.
Speaker 9 (01:09:04):
On Twitter, like I don't know, I guess I haven't
looked at NASCAR Twitter in a while. But people freaked
out about it, like the crash, like so it was
a Kyle Busch that started it, or so, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
It might have been Kyle Busch, it hooked somebody. Yeah
it's not again. It's a fun track. It's the Beauty
of Richmond. But we still got a long way to
go in this race. We'll see if you can pull
it out. We'll get to that an hour.
Speaker 8 (01:09:29):
Four, okay, great, Yeah, thank you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
Back to you.
Speaker 3 (01:09:33):
Well, see there's a big there's a big fight going
on as to whether or not Kyle Busch it actually
hooked the Kyle Larson and that might have ended up
being what caused a crash.
Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
So that's our big fight right now.
Speaker 3 (01:09:47):
You sure you don't want to bring this. You shouldn't
want to bring this to the air right now. I
can open the phone lines on it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:51):
I was, I was thinking about it, but I'm like,
we could do that an hour four, all right. We'll
get to it an hour number four all right.
Speaker 3 (01:09:58):
Since since we were talking a little bit about fantasy
and Jerry Jones and by you not believing in the Cowboys,
you had Jerry Jones in Roman numeral number eight. Yes,
I mean what more could we possibly have to say
about old Jared Jones and what seems to be the
perceivativist management right now of the situation involving his best
defensive player, Michael Parsons.
Speaker 2 (01:10:20):
Did you see that story about him being in serious condition?
Did you see that? What did he say at stage
four cancer?
Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
Yeah, and that he had to use an experimental drug
to actually save his life. I don't know how many
years ago. Was this like ten years ago or maybe
it was a little bit closer. I'm not sure the
exact time frame, but I started thinking about this, and
I've always wondered about this ever since I worked in
Dallas and we were the flagship of the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
But when you're in such grave.
Speaker 4 (01:10:51):
Danger, right, it looked pretty bad. Even he said it
looked pretty bad and he had to use an experimental drug.
Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
Wouldn't you think you.
Speaker 4 (01:11:00):
Would go all out because maybe you're thinking that's your
last year or two and you want to get that
one more super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:11:07):
Then he said many times that that's what he's He
was diagnosed in twenty ten, so it was fifteen years ago.
Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
Wow, would you have thought he would have gone all
out at least just one year where he overpaid everybody
had said this is the year we're gonna go ahead
and try to win.
Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
A Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
I've never I can't remember a year where it felt
like they were in a position, you know, like one
of the top five favorites, maybe super Bowl favorites.
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
I don't know what it is.
Speaker 4 (01:11:36):
I just felt like they've never really pushed their chips
all in right to win a Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
In the last twenty five years.
Speaker 3 (01:11:43):
I was trying to go through year by year whenever
you know, the probably cancel cancer battle was at its
biggest for Jared right, and in ten, eleven, twelve, and thirteen,
I mean they weren't even what sniff in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (01:11:55):
They went twelve and four.
Speaker 3 (01:11:57):
In twenty fourteen, you know that was with the second
year of Murray and des Bryant, Tony Romo.
Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
They had actually pretty good group of developed guy Yeah,
good team. Yeah, but you.
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
Say going out and just swinging for the fences with
some wild free agent pickups, right, But that's what I meant.
Speaker 4 (01:12:14):
Yeah, like we're gonna go ahead, like Derrick Henry was
available this offseason, you know, getting somebody like that, getting
a big name and saying, yeah, you know, maybe he's
only got a year or two left, and we gave
him the three year contract because it's all about winning
this year, you know, something like that. Because I mean,
when you're in that type of you know, medical situation, right,
(01:12:37):
you know, think, different things go through your mind, and
what would have been let's go for one more time
while I'm still on this earth. I don't know, Am
I crazy for thinking like that?
Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:12:46):
No, no, no, no, I agree with you, But I
guess maybe my question would be, are think My only
response would be maybe he looked at it as they
were with some of the decisions they had been making
and investing in Romo, doing what they could with Daz,
And of course Daz was always a knucklehead off the field, right,
you know, with with I guess they did kind of
(01:13:08):
move on from DeMarco Murray pretty quick. But I don't know, right,
maybe when we look back, we'll say how he was
he was swinging for the fences because he was protecting
all right, keeping a lot of guys around. But do
you know what, there wasn't a major free agent acquisition
during any of this.
Speaker 2 (01:13:21):
You know, like when a guy gets older and he's like,
you know what we're gonna do this year. I'm taking
all my kids and all the grandkids and We're going
on a big excursion to Hawaii. Right. Oh, We're going
on a big cruise. And it's gonna cost us one
hundred thousand dollars. But it was money I was saving up.
But because you know, I'm not in good.
Speaker 4 (01:13:39):
Health and who knows all I'll be around, I decide
I want to take you know, something like that, Chris,
you know what I mean. I don't know if you
can equate it to the NFL and making big moves
and swinging for the fences. Just don't feel like the
cowboys have done that in the in the last fifteen years.
Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
And you get this news and it kind of surprises
you a little bit, right because he know.
Speaker 4 (01:13:59):
It was that bad that an experimental drug save your life.
That's pretty there on the edge there, that's like, get
out of that.
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
I I mean, just for those of you that are
like preferential treatment because of his money. I had a
buddy of mine that took an experimental drug to try
to save his life and and it didn't work, you know,
So it's just it shows you how you know, you're
at that point where they tell you, hey, it's it's
bad and it's spread right, and if you want to
get something done, you got to try this experimental drug.
Speaker 2 (01:14:27):
It's amazing when it works, it's heartbreaking when it doesn't.
Speaker 4 (01:14:29):
And the fact that he had to take an experimental
drug shows you how bad it was, how out of.
Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
A situation it was exactly. All right, get a break.
It's already in plank.
Speaker 3 (01:14:37):

Where's this that I have Cooper Rush in my preseason
Hall of Fame. By the way, I don't believe Cooper
Rush is in the preseason Hall twenty of thirty today one.
So do you know what I.
Speaker 4 (01:15:24):
Do?
Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
You know what I naturally did Whenever you said Cooper Rush,
I automatically started looking at the Cowboy stats, completely forgetting
that he's with the Ravens. Now, are we calming down
a bit on the Joe Milton buzz? You guys starting
to see me.
Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
I was just about to say, I was just about
to say, I'm liking Joe Milton this overall, I'm liking what.
Speaker 5 (01:15:43):
No.
Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
I have not watched a lot of the Dallas game,
but no, but I just like, what are you basing
this on? I saw last week's game. Who did they
played last week? I forget who it was, but I
I like him. I think he's going to be a
good quarterback. I mean, obviously he's got a lot to
work on, but I think he's he's got the skills.
Speaker 3 (01:16:00):
Nine of eighteen for one hundred and twenty two yards,
two sacks and a pick. Yeah, sounds like got a
lot to learn. Sounds on team number two.
Speaker 4 (01:16:08):
Yours had a pretty good bounced back game today.
Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
I thought that was pretty good. I brought that up
earlier too. That was the first thing I brought off
the best today.
Speaker 4 (01:16:16):
If the best thing about your team is your third
street quarterback, you've got problems.
Speaker 3 (01:16:20):
It's also the preseason again, Arnie, and it's not the
best thing about the Dolphins right now. You stop make
up your mind. Are you in or are you out?
Speaker 2 (01:16:28):
On them? This year?
Speaker 4 (01:16:29):
I'll let you know next week. I'll change my mind
seven more times.
Speaker 2 (01:16:32):
I don't know. You drive me crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:16:34):
You had me in on the Cowboys that I was out,
that I was in, that I was out there there like, hey, well,
Colin talked me into it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:41):
It wasn't Colin who talked me into it. It was Hartman, Hartman,
Colin Hartman, somebody talked you in through it.
Speaker 3 (01:16:47):
Give proper credit where credit is due. I'm stealing ideas
from Steve Hartman. A couple of quick tweets Paul the
double shot here. Trevor Lawrence deserves to be considered a
bust considering how he was supposed to be the lway
Or Manning and has turned into Derek Carr.
Speaker 2 (01:17:03):
Yeah, I get quarterback Derek Carr.
Speaker 4 (01:17:05):
I didn't put pressure on him because he signed that
new contract. He still has a couple of years left.
Speaker 2 (01:17:09):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:17:09):
If we're going to take away the contracts and say
everybody's playing for their life or for their job this year,
if you're just going in general, yeah, then then I
would say yes, he he would have been right up
there as my top three as a matter of fact.
I mean I still think Bryce Young has a lot
to work for, But then I would add Tua also
right up there in my top three.
Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
As far as guys who have something to prove. Absolutely well.
Speaker 3 (01:17:33):
This is funny because we ended last hour on a
bit of a cliffhanger because I had asked you about
the possibility, Well, what if you get your wish and
Mike McDaniels gets fired, and what if they bring in
a coach that doesn't really.
Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Care what Brian Flores didn't care too much for Tua?
Speaker 3 (01:17:49):
What if they bring in a coach that doesn't really
care too much for Tua and wants to go in
another direction?
Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Obviously, are you only get one eight on that? I
thought that was your quarterback. They're bringing in the coach
that loves to I mean Mike McDaniels loves Tua not
like Nick Saban does.
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
Nick Saban decided that h he's gonna move on to
Mac Jones instead of two instead of wanting him to
come back for another year.
Speaker 4 (01:18:12):
I can't worry about that right now. I just got
to get Nick Saban, who's my head coach?
Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
Well, first of all, I hate to tell you this.
I know he's not going to come back. Miami's not
going to be the place if he comes back, not
even if I double the salary.
Speaker 3 (01:18:27):
Well, I mean maybe if you can double the salary,
I mean, what would we be talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:18:31):
I would say I would make you the highest paid
coach in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:18:34):
What would you think if your Dolphins talk to John Gruden?
I would love that John grud would love him some Tua.
That seems like his kind of guy.
Speaker 2 (01:18:43):
Give me some of John Gruden. I love you.
Speaker 3 (01:18:46):
Yeah, I'm just because I think he's some of that.
His name is going to become a very popular one.
Speaker 4 (01:18:51):
I think I'm done with the chemistry professor. I've been
telling you this for about three years now.
Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
You were done, Yeah, but he's done things for your
franchise that haven't been done in decades.
Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
Don't let the door hit your ass. On the way out.
Speaker 3 (01:19:02):
I mean, what is it about your teams that the
Knicks make it to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they
haven't been in twenty years. Yeah, you guys are climbing
the billboards and and you fire the coach. And then
we get to the Dolphins and the season hasn't even started.
But a guy who's giving you success unlike anything you've
seen in the last but maybe twenty years, and you're
(01:19:24):
ready to pun him after just some preseason Chris negative buzz, you.
Speaker 4 (01:19:29):
Would say, I'm done with the crackers. Give me some steak, Baby,
give me some steak, don't I don't even want the appetizers,
So let's just get into the main course. You're ready,
you're ready. You know showed me what it's like, so
let's get to it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:19:43):
All right, well that's fair enough. But I just I
am shocked by this one eighty and I'm expecting another
one on tomorrow night's show where it's probably my quarterback.
That's my team of this team, right exactly, that's my coach.
It's gonna happen, all right. When we come back to
the sports radio studios, we take our time honored Sunday
Night tradition and pull it in here on Saturday on
(01:20:06):
your score sheets for tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:20:08):
On your scorecards, it would be known as Roman numeral
number three. Oh jeez, but it is.
Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
Very simply after two weeks of the preseason. I know this,
but I'll tell you what. There's a nice little caveat
to it on Roman numeral number four.
Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
Is there anything that you've seen from this last these idea? Well,
we had eleven games, ten games today, one more that's
in progress, couple games on Friday. Is there anything that
you've seen in week two that has led you to
change your perspective on one of the NFL teams you're
high on. We'll dive into it next. Right here on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:20:43):
You're listening to Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
Radio Radio Company Alive on a Saturday night. A lot
of NFL action going on. We're heading down the home
stretch in the Cowboys Ravens game. You heard Breeze update
twenty eight thirteen, Ravens in complete control and Arnie you said,
what rush on the cusp of getting out another gold jacket?
Speaker 2 (01:21:02):
We gotta have another color for the jackets in the
NFL pre You're right, Well.
Speaker 4 (01:21:05):
If we do have this something's got to be different
for the preseason Hall of Fame. It's got to be
a little bit different there, Like.
Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
What would be uh, like silver jacket? Now they could
even be silver jackets because that would might be regular season.
Speaker 2 (01:21:17):
Oh well, we'll come up with something to work on something.
But I die not bad.
Speaker 3 (01:21:23):
I like that A lot tied up it. Fourteen closing
moments of the Buccaneers Steelers game. Looks like the uh
looks like the Bucks are going to try to win
it on a potential walk off field goal. They've got
the football in Pittsburgh territory with under two minutes to go.
And let's see what other game was I tracking here? Oh,
it just went final Jared from Brae. The Giants beat
the Jets thirty one to twelve, and we are also
(01:21:46):
keeping an eye on the Rams in the Chargers twenty
two to seventeen Los Angeles.
Speaker 2 (01:21:51):
The Chargers lead got the Rams with one six to go.
God dead, Zee, call me fat. We haven't got to
that yet. What's what's up with that? I mean, it's
your show, But who do you think play the cut?
Where's Mary?
Speaker 6 (01:22:05):
Mary?
Speaker 2 (01:22:06):
Play the cut? At Denzel Washington talking about talk show
hosts too much talking, too much talking. I got an
opinion everybody's sitting around getting fat, you know, thinking they
know how to do it just because you could sit
behind the desk and chit chat. That means you can
do a damn thing.
Speaker 4 (01:22:23):
Wow, who did you think he was talking about? But
he says sitting around getting fat? Jason Woodlock thought.
Speaker 2 (01:22:27):
It was about him? You say, no, you said it
was about you. Well, who's fatter than me? At Fox
Sports Radio? You're actually not as big as you once were, right, No,
But I mean it would be between well, two pros
and a Joe LeVar Arrington, but he's not really fat.
Arrington's not fat. What do you what are you saying? Okay,
(01:22:48):
we're just a large human. He's not. He's just okay.
Then then there's what Dan Patrick and Collins. We'll forget
about that. Yeah, they're little, they seem shapely.
Speaker 4 (01:22:57):
Yeah, I mean then you got Gottlieb please, that guy's
like a buck fifty soken, Wet, Coveno and Rich same
thing with them, right, Rob Parker and Kevin Washington. I
mean maybe you could have said it about Harmon and Smith,
but they're really not fat. Harmon wants a bunch of
(01:23:18):
weight anyway, So that just left me and Ben Mallor.
And Ben's like six foot eight, you know, So.
Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
You think that this was directed at you from Denzel Washington?
Who else is fat? Sitting behind the desk? Thought he's just.
Speaker 3 (01:23:34):
Making an analogy. Do you know what I think is
the funny? Who's that interview with?
Speaker 4 (01:23:38):
Is that?
Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
Not sure? Who was Sports Illustrated? Was it Sports Illustrated?
They're still around. I'm willing to bet.
Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
The dude that asked a question and then went yeah, yeah,
I'm willing to bet he has some awful sports opinions
that are out there on the internet right now. And
it's probably it's probably one of the guys that Denzel
is in a roundabout way talking about. I don't know
who it was, but I mean he's sitting there like, yeah, yeah, preach, preach.
I'm do you have terrible takes out there too?
Speaker 2 (01:24:07):
Yeah? Yeah, I had done on my show. He's a
pretty cool guy. I thought this was targeted at you.
You feel like this was a shot at you. That's okay,
I could take it. I'm a big boy. It's it's
incredible how all of this in sports, everything Arnie just
comes back to you. Man, that's pretty cool it is
now you know, now you know who you're working with,
big boy. I think that it's in your own mind.
Speaker 3 (01:24:31):
What would you have done if he came out and said,
and I was listening to this guy Arnichie Spaniard is,
oh gosh, you get just shut up?
Speaker 2 (01:24:39):
Didn't There'll be a fan? I mean, my gosh, I
don't need people telling us how to do our jobs.
Speaker 4 (01:24:44):
Could you imagine if he if he called me out
by name, we'd be doing three hours on the show,
I know, could you imagineweets I'd be getting.
Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
You would be begging to come on even earlier. But
I mean, everyone just has an opinion.
Speaker 1 (01:24:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
You know what I'm gonna do is pay't attention recently, dude.
Speaker 4 (01:24:58):
You know what I gotta do is I get a
to pretend like it was really insulted and hurt and
it infected my wife and I almost got fired. And
Denzel feels so guilty as to put me in his
next movie, kind of like Dan Patrick getting in all
the Adam Sandler movies.
Speaker 2 (01:25:11):
Well, I don't. I don't think Adam Sandler felt guilty
for anything.
Speaker 3 (01:25:15):
I think something like just something like that. What did
you think of Dan's makeup? By the way, and Happy
Gilmore too.
Speaker 2 (01:25:22):
I've still not seen Happy Gilmore too. Have I had
a chance to see it? Thought it was good. Catch
it up on Squid Games. I was watching the last
season the Squid Games.
Speaker 3 (01:25:31):
Is there anything more that you want to add? Is
there anything more than you want to add to Denzel
Washington before we move on?
Speaker 5 (01:25:37):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:25:37):
But it goes to sure they.
Speaker 4 (01:25:38):
All listen to sports radio, you know what I mean?
They all listened to the talking head at the pad shows.
And I don't listen to that nonsense. I don't go
ahead and oh, sure you do, Kevin Durant, Sure you do. So, yeah,
I know they all listen to that.
Speaker 10 (01:25:51):
Kevin Durant commented on Instagram underneath a clip of the
Denzel rant, there just a bunch of fire emojis so
you can say he agrees.
Speaker 2 (01:25:59):
I'm of course he does.
Speaker 4 (01:26:01):
What else is he gonna go ahead and say? I
wish they would call out people by name. I would
they say I was listening to some moro on Sunday night,
just driving over from the airport. Gosh, what a knucklehead
this guy was? Or just call him up by name.
Let's do it, Yeah, do it? Just start to go
for a Denzel name name.
Speaker 10 (01:26:18):
This one guy just flips his opinion on the Dolphins
every single week.
Speaker 2 (01:26:22):
There's one guy.
Speaker 4 (01:26:22):
I'm not gonna say his name, but I think he's
from Gorulesby, Oklahoma.
Speaker 2 (01:26:28):
Again it is Goldsby, Oklahoma.
Speaker 3 (01:26:31):
I don't know how you can consistently mispronounce something that
is as easy to say as anything on the planet.
Speaker 2 (01:26:36):
But here we are in the National Football League. We
have three preseason weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:26:42):
During the regular season we have eighteen weeks and in
a time on or tradition, every single Sunday night, Arnie
and I will kick off our final hour, whether it's
preseason or NFL season, talking about what we learn.
Speaker 5 (01:26:54):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:26:54):
This is carried over some of the NBA and more
in the playoffs, but it's really a football thing for us.
So to kind of get a jumps are on eleven
games in one day once a couple still in progress.
Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
Arnie. After two weeks of the NFL preseason, I know this.
Speaker 4 (01:27:08):
After two weeks of the NFL preseason, I know this.
I almost was an idiot again.
Speaker 2 (01:27:13):
I'm like, oh, is this a new Jets team? Look
what they're doing at Green Bay. Oh wait a minute,
it up again Audi here. So there's still they still stink.
They're definitely a last place team. That's what I learned
after two weeks.
Speaker 4 (01:27:31):
There's they've already been mathematically eliminated from the playoff race.
Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
They all the Jet fans are gonna be like Arch Manning.
Arch Manning, come on, you're gonna be fighting out for
that first pick with the Saints.
Speaker 4 (01:27:44):
You are just gonna be abysmal this year. Especially Beau
New England's gonna be better. You're just You're probably not
even gonna win the divisional game.
Speaker 2 (01:27:51):
That's how bad you are.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
But can I just for those of you that think
Arch is gonna be the slamm duck number one picking
this draft and fans.
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
Or Budts, even though they say that he's not coming out,
I would challenge you to watch him.
Speaker 3 (01:28:02):
South Carolina football, there's a guy named Lenora Sellers who
might be one of the most electric players I've seen
in person.
Speaker 2 (01:28:08):
So but he doesn't have is his last name Manning.
Speaker 3 (01:28:12):
If his name was Leonoris Manning, he was doing some
of the things that he's doing right now, or Norris,
it's all you people would be talking about right now.
Really I did learn this. I agree with what we
opened the show with and what Jeff Schwartz tweeted.
Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
I don't know why. I'm not trying to tell you
it's great football.
Speaker 3 (01:28:30):
We're watching some teams limp to the end here in
these In this, I guess you could say witching hour
where there's a couple of games going on. But I
do feel like we're getting a better preseason. I don't
know why. I don't know if there's numbers that quantify it.
Maybe it was Nie because of all of the Week
one numbers that went over. We're not necessarily seeing a
lot of first teamers play a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:28:51):
I told you the numbers were the over on. The
numbers all went up by like two points.
Speaker 4 (01:28:56):
Right when we did the picks on Sunday, I said
there was no more thirty two and a half thirty threes.
Matter of fact, I think there was one thirty five
and a half, one thirty six and a half, and
then everything above that.
Speaker 2 (01:29:06):
So it really made a big change.
Speaker 3 (01:29:08):
But anyway, just a general thought there. And then one
I sat and watched basically from start to finish, you know,
two full games. I was all in on the early
morning Browns Eagles game, because I think who wasn't that
was like a playoff game for me, right, But more specifically,
I watched all of the Raiders Niners game, and I
thought both fan bases should feel pretty good about things
(01:29:31):
because Brock Purdy first series for San Francisco the only
receiver that really San Francisco was using as far as
their their their starters are concerned. Ayuk is still dinged up.
But we had a chance to see Ricky Piersoll and
he looked great. It looked like he and Brock Purdy
had a pretty good chemistry going. They drove right down
the field on the Raiders defense kind of stumbled in
(01:29:52):
the red zone and scored. Raiders got the football right back,
and I mean, for the first time this year, it
was one of those okay, all right, here we go
Ashton Genty, here we go Gino Smith. They went right
down and score. The defense got the football back form
Marty and they stayed with their first team and Ashton
(01:30:12):
Genty just ran all over the forty nine ers after
he had spent a little time in the injury tent.
Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
But also I saw that hit on him, I'm like, oh,
that was a hit that was yeah right. I thought
he delivered a pretty good shot to that backer too.
Speaker 3 (01:30:28):
But San Francisco had started to bring in a couple
of their reserves, so it wasn't there wasn't Nick Moos
out there chasing guys around. But I came away from
that game feeling really good for both teams and seeing
something from their starters that in week one you didn't
really see.
Speaker 2 (01:30:41):
I mean the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (01:30:42):
I think Gino had what one drive and threw two
incomplete passes, and Ashton Genty had like six yards rushing.
So I thought for Raider fans it was an incredible
and incredibly positive turn, and I think for the Niners
as kind of roller coaster as the news has been
out of that camp to see Ricky Piersoll work with,
said mac Jones. Well, he did catch a couple passes
from mac Jones, but with Brock Purty Arnie, I think,
(01:31:04):
if I'm an minerstand, I felt really good about seeing
those guys work together.
Speaker 4 (01:31:07):
I told you I thought the Niners were gonna be
the bounce back team. We talked about teams that we're
gonna go from worse to first. I think they finished
in the last place last year obviously with all the injuries. Well,
see all McCaffrey does. I I want to see what
he's gonna do if he's gonna stay injury free. I
know he's you know, saying all the right all the
right things, and you know, I've the best health of
my wife.
Speaker 2 (01:31:27):
That's time will tell on that.
Speaker 4 (01:31:30):
And by the way, brock Purty doesn't seem to have
a lot of pressure on him coming into this year.
Speaker 2 (01:31:34):
Am I misreading that or what don't know?
Speaker 3 (01:31:37):
I get all of my San Francisco forty nine or
information from East Bay Chris and Sour Death Sean on Twitter,
and they've been our seth excuse me, sorry, seth uh,
and they've been kind of quiet the last few days,
so I'll have to dig up on their tweets right now.
But I don't think anyone was really happy with just
the injuries that San Francisco has had in camp or
(01:31:58):
at the very least a battle back from me to
get guys to one. I think that's where the biggest
question right now is whenever it comes to the San
Francisco forty nine ers, I think they gotch I screwed
the name up, Sourdat Sam excuse me, Sam, but I
think there's just a lot of Niner fans who feel
like if guys can stay healthy, they've got a chance.
I don't think anyone's like you and freaking out and
(01:32:18):
one to fire him or cut him because of the
injuries they dealt with last year.
Speaker 4 (01:32:21):
All right after after two weeks of the preseason. I
know this, And it's really not the end of the
second game for this team They're they're playing right now.
There's only twenty seconds left, so it's almost two and
I'm not buying the Rams. I'm not in on the
Rams at all this year. Is Matthew Stafford gonna play?
I know they're gonna let him play what next week?
Or they're gonna look at him, or I'm not buying
(01:32:42):
them at all. They you want to bet that Bettett
starts two games this year for them?
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
How much? How much you want to bet on that? Well,
he would have to Uh, you'd have to count on
Jimmy g going down, which I should have said, Jimmy G.
You want to bet Jimmy g ends up starting two games?
Speaker 3 (01:32:58):
I would take your bets. I would take your stets
in bed I wouldn't I wouldn't go against you on that.
It wouldn't surprise me. I dug into what Matt Stafford
is having done treatment wise.
Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
Right, Are you aware of this? No, they're not.
Speaker 3 (01:33:11):
They're not fixing a back issue right now. They're not
going in there and fixing it. Apparently they're doing something
called nerve oblationion.
Speaker 5 (01:33:20):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:33:21):
Yeah, it involves and I just so I get it
all correct here. It involves procedures that destroy or interrupt
nerves transmitting pain signals from the back, primarily primarily using
heat or chemicals. And that's apparently what is going on
with Matt Stafford right now and what he's dealing with.
Speaker 2 (01:33:36):
So they already like reset your brain for pain? Is
it burns the nerve endings off?
Speaker 3 (01:33:41):
So you don't exactly so they're not able to fix it,
but they're just trying to at the very least. I
don't know if it's considered a true where's the doctor's
that one?
Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
I need them?
Speaker 4 (01:33:50):
But you kill those nerve things, like, you're not in
pain anymore. No, now that you say that, and look,
I'm not a doctor. It just sounds serious. What did
I tell you last year? I said, I don't know if.
Speaker 2 (01:34:00):
This guy, don't know you say everything apparently.
Speaker 4 (01:34:03):
I'm like, I don't know if this guy should come
back or would want to come back. He may retire,
especially after what his wife went through and all the
medical situations with or what was she have braink an operation.
Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
And she had she battled some brain issues. Yeah yeah,
I mean it was she almost died, all right? Not good.
Speaker 4 (01:34:22):
I mean it was just horrible what this guy went through.
And now we were his own medical problems and he's
made so much money. I'm just like, man, walk away
from it all? Why you can still walk away? Because
this is obviously I think it's going to be his
last year. I don't know if he has much left
after this, Chris, I would have walked away by now.
You think, so, yeah, he's only got one more year
(01:34:42):
after this. He beats barely gonna get through this year.
It seems like there's only two and twenty twenty six.
Speaker 3 (01:34:48):
But he's twenty percent of the cap this year and
like seventeen and a half percent of the cap next year,
so you need him to be good. I mean, there's
just no ye. I don't think you're going to get
a Derek Carr retirement out of this. Need him to
be good.
Speaker 2 (01:35:01):
Oh no, you're not gonna get that. You're not gonna
get lucky, and that that's for sure, you're not.
Speaker 3 (01:35:04):
You don't think he would, well, you just kind of
proposed why he should step away.
Speaker 4 (01:35:07):
He's gonna he's gonna want the money. Now it's too little,
too late. I thought he was gonna walk away even.
Speaker 2 (01:35:11):
You know, before this year even started. No, he had
three What do you are you kidding me?
Speaker 1 (01:35:16):
Right now?
Speaker 3 (01:35:17):
Do you you ask if I remember you saying things?
Do you remember three months ago when Matt Stafford was
the apple of the Steelers eye. The Raiders were interested
in him. They was talking to the Vikings might want
to talk to Matt Stafford. I mean it was crazy.
Whenever he's like, you know, I don't know about whether
or not I want to seek a trade. How many
teams jumped up and said, yeah, we'll take him, well,
(01:35:39):
we'll we'll make him move for him.
Speaker 4 (01:35:41):
Yeah, Now, look what would have happened. I mean, you
don't even know if he's gonna be full. He won't
be one hundred percent for game one, and you know.
Speaker 3 (01:35:46):
That I don't know every single I'll tell you this
much as much as I try to doubt Matt Stafford.
He is the one guy that every single time I
say game, look, this guy's done, he comes back and
surprises me.
Speaker 2 (01:35:57):
He surprised me last year. I mean, the Rams were
the one team that many people say that you're still
on lookout, you're still buying the Rams, then you're on
buy for them.
Speaker 3 (01:36:05):
Well, listen, I just laid out the back issues. We
all know the back issues. But a healthy Matt Stafford,
I'm not going to count him out. I just don't
know about that healthy Matt Stafford part. And I think
he's gonna be I think that's gonna play this year.
And that's basidly benching him for the entire year off
some back issues in the preseason for a really bested vet.
Speaker 4 (01:36:26):
I'm gonna show you the kind of power I have, Chris,
What did I just say? I'm out on the Rams.
It's not going to happen. And just as I say that,
Stenson Bennet throws a touchdout pass to give the Rams
the win with five seconds left to the game.
Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
Right, only I could do something like that. So here,
I've got that power.
Speaker 3 (01:36:44):
There you go, You're out on them at the exact
moment that when they're touchdown pass of the game by Stetson,
Bennett ends up winning it for the Rams.
Speaker 2 (01:36:53):
Well done. So somebody doesn't want to trade for this
guy to make him the starter. I'm not sure.
Speaker 3 (01:36:58):
Well he's he's starting to think about here for three
hundred and twenty four yards tonight and had three touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (01:37:03):
That's going to be a preseason record, is it not?
I don't know, man, I not in the preseason record.
He just won the preseason Uh you know Hall of
Fame MVP for cry out loud, Drake Stoups two catches
for twenty three yards.
Speaker 3 (01:37:17):
Let's go game? When he touchdown pass? Who caught the game?
When he touchdown pass? Did you see?
Speaker 5 (01:37:22):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:37:22):
I have no idea.
Speaker 3 (01:37:23):
Oh okay, congratulations to the Rams. They still five seconds left, though, Let's.
Speaker 2 (01:37:29):
To who did they throw it to on the game
when he touchdown pass? I don't think it was true Edwards?
Oh true Edwards? Gosh, I haven't heard that. And the
Seger's at the game. Good his Chargers lose?
Speaker 10 (01:37:39):
Ah the Sega I will say, though they went for
two and didn't get it, But I mean, just had
they somehow fumbled or turned it over?
Speaker 2 (01:37:48):
Unkid. Yeah, kid, they rught it back. They could have
ran it back and won the game, but idiocy. I
guess preseason man, try some things out. Why not?
Speaker 3 (01:37:57):
Hey, one more thing I want to add that I
learned after week two and maybe it was just me
not believing in this. That is a legit quarterback competition
going on in Indie right now, isn't it.
Speaker 7 (01:38:10):
It is.
Speaker 2 (01:38:11):
It's Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson, And I thought.
Speaker 4 (01:38:14):
I think Richardson will win the job, but Jones will
be right there to replace him if anything goes south.
Speaker 2 (01:38:21):
How quickly would that trigger be then you think could
be in the first game, if it's not by the
first half, if they were carrible in the first half.
Speaker 3 (01:38:29):
Today, Shane Steikin said that it's a very close race
and he's nearing his decision. We'll hear from him coming
up a little bit later on the program, But when
he was asked about his decision, quote, I'm very close.
Speaker 2 (01:38:42):
I'll say that I'm very close.
Speaker 3 (01:38:44):
So I don't know if I went into it just
thinking Daniel Jones is a camp arm and as soon
as you get your quarterback one hundred percent healthy, it
doesn't matter. But it looks like Arnie that's going to
come down to the wire as to who their guy's
going to be.
Speaker 4 (01:38:58):
By the way, if we get up a quarterbacks, do
we know about JJ McCarthy is a good quarterback that's
going to take him to like thirteen wins, like like
they had last year of fourteen wins or or whatever
they had.
Speaker 3 (01:39:08):
I'm gonna say this quietly because I don't want our
buddy Eric on Twitter to get triggered by me. I
had to unfollowed this college football reporter because all he
ever does is tweet about the greatness of JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 2 (01:39:20):
Calm down, I'm not in man, I'm not, and I'd
love to be proven. You hear the rumors that, oh
they love him out there. He's just he's the greatest
against slash spread.
Speaker 3 (01:39:29):
Yeah, I mean, it's just I know that's an old,
overhused analogy, but that's exactly what it's like right now.
Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
If you're ever going to take a team mother, it'd
be Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (01:39:36):
I guess there's a couple that the preseason has changed
my opinion on a bit. I'll share that with you next.
It's aren't even playing on a Saturday night, right here
on Fox Sports Radio. Big datum off for he's thinking, genius,
what do you got going on?
Speaker 2 (01:39:53):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:39:54):
Just my own basketball game at noon and then spending
the day with the wife be where she goes back
to Connecticut.
Speaker 3 (01:40:01):
That's not even miss miss a basketball game to spend
more time with your wife.
Speaker 4 (01:40:05):
Got a basketball game? Playoffs are coming up soon, gotta
we're almost in first place?
Speaker 2 (01:40:10):
Is a big game? Are you getting more pt if
you talked to the coach or No, tomorrow We're only
gonna have five players, I believe. Oh, that's why you're
going there. You go. By the way, do you know
who John Frascella is? John Fraskell Is he famous actor
that I should No, no.
Speaker 6 (01:40:28):
No, no, no no.
Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
He's a football writer insider at NFL Friskella. Yeah, I'm not.
I am not familiar with his work. Let me just
reach you the tweet he put out, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:40:43):
Such a bull blank interview from Dylan Gabriel. This is
truly disgraceful. He should be ashamed of himself taking shots
at Shrader Sanders.
Speaker 2 (01:40:55):
Your own teammate. This is the lowest of the low.
Speaker 4 (01:40:59):
The Browns should cut Gabriel for shading a teammate to
the media, and he has two hundred thousand followers.
Speaker 3 (01:41:06):
This guy right exactly, and that's his pin to tweet,
so you know what that means. He thinks it's a
really scorcher of a hot take. What is what the
tweet pined tweet? He's like, this is good stuff. I'm
putting this at the top of my Twitter feed so
you can see how hot this take is, even though
even though it's the even though it's wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:41:25):
But hey, you got go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:41:27):
I mean, just keep if you spend thirty seconds around
Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 2 (01:41:31):
But I didn't say that. I didn't even say that.
Speaker 3 (01:41:34):
You know, thirty seconds you realize, Yeah, he ain't throwing
shade at nobody. I liked your I liked your well, yeah,
with what the NFL put out there, of course it did.
But I liked your theory that you thought someone had
pumped him up so much before the game that had
just stayed in his head and he was just you know, repeating,
bellowing out what you're not. You're not an actor, you're
(01:41:56):
not some sort of comedian. You're a football player. You
get out there and play tender. Let's go, let's go.
Probably like his sister or something.
Speaker 2 (01:42:04):
Send it to him. I'm just telling you guys right now,
it's just not true. It's just not And I think
you're the minority, by the way. Oh that's fine. Whether
you're right or wrong, you're still the minority. It doesn't matter.
I mean, I am right, it doesn't matter if I'm
the minority.
Speaker 3 (01:42:20):
Everyone that when you get the full context of it
and you realize that they were trying to have a
cool moment about how they stay focused and they don't
let the media and other things whenever you have a
circus going on around it. But now that isn't That
doesn't make for good stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:42:32):
Arnie.
Speaker 3 (01:42:32):
We've got to make this look like he was taking
a shot at should say, because we don't. Hey, man,
when was the last time. When was the last time
in the sports world we truly had a tense quarterback
battle where the locker room was split and it was
one guy or the other guy? I mean, what like
(01:42:54):
Rob Johnson, Doug Flutie.
Speaker 2 (01:42:55):
And Buda We had one a little bit more recent
than that. Okay, I would this is my guess. I mean,
if the rumors are true, Uh, Tom Brady and Jimmy.
Speaker 3 (01:43:05):
G talk about right before they traded him. Yeah, were
they ever truly?
Speaker 2 (01:43:14):
I mean, it wasn't a battle, but you heard that
there was some.
Speaker 4 (01:43:18):
Brady Anamassi toward Jimmy g and that's why they traded him,
I guess.
Speaker 2 (01:43:23):
I mean, listen, I'm just digging here. I'm fans.
Speaker 3 (01:43:26):
I haven't lived in your shoes a ton, but I'm
just trying to think, because we haven't had this in
sports where one guy just doesn't like the other guy
and you might have one of those. Well, you know,
we're in the same locker room where we work together.
I think, what maybe the farv stuff that we had
with Aaron Rodgers l butoint my point is we haven't
(01:43:49):
had anything like that.
Speaker 2 (01:43:51):
So you have Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love. That's good.
That's good to you.
Speaker 3 (01:43:56):
And I will say, I think that was more Aaron
versus the Packers, and it was You're right, that's a
good one.
Speaker 2 (01:44:00):
You're right though, No, but but it wasn't well they
were just moving off from him, so that was Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:44:06):
It just it shows you, does it not, how incredible
like a storyline that can explode just based off what
was that? A thirty four second SoundBite and Everyone's like,
look at him, how dare he?
Speaker 2 (01:44:18):
He's shading his teammate.
Speaker 4 (01:44:19):
They're like, excellently, No, I really believe that most football fans,
like seventy five percent believe that's what he was doing.
Speaker 2 (01:44:27):
I don't doubt it. In the NFL doesn't help. But
when they throw they the talk shows on Monday context,
how darey?
Speaker 7 (01:44:35):
Well?
Speaker 3 (01:44:35):
I mean, I'm pretty sure that this is a twenty
four hour news cycle that we'll completely forget about it
by tomorrow, because I'm sure we'll have something else that
wo outrageous, like this Arnie JJ Bigfoot. How can Arnie
be out on the Rams? With that swarming young defense,
a great head coach, solid receivers, good running back. I
(01:44:57):
guess the Stafford injury would be my only reserv That's.
Speaker 2 (01:45:01):
A big one.
Speaker 4 (01:45:02):
You know the fact that I don't think Seattle is
gonna have a good year. I think it's San Francisco,
Arizona and the Rams. So it's gonna be a three
team race there, and I think the Rams are gonna
be the team outside looking at it, and Stafford is
a big part.
Speaker 2 (01:45:14):
I don't think he's gonna last the whole year.
Speaker 4 (01:45:16):
Remember when I told you, Chris, that no longer is
a time that quarterbacks are gonna play all seventeen games
that you need a backup quarterback to get a couple
of starts because there's just so many injuries and some
of the games are from a Sunday to a Thursday.
You just can't go with this one guy the whole time.
You you need a really second stringer to get a couple.
Speaker 3 (01:45:35):
You always need a second stringer. But you're not gonna
start planning to not play the highest paid dude on
the team that takes.
Speaker 2 (01:45:40):
No larger probably not gonna cap unless you have your
playoff spot.
Speaker 4 (01:45:43):
You're probably yeah, you're probably not gonna plan it, but
you know where you're gonna have to need to probably
start him in a couple of games.
Speaker 3 (01:45:49):
All right, did you any time you start with Remember
I told you, and I'm like, hold on here, buddy.
The initial thought of this was maybe starting quarterbacks will
take two weeks off, and I would.
Speaker 2 (01:46:00):
I would sit Mike, like if my quarterback is like,
you know, maybe took a bad hit and he could
use a week off, and I have to play on
a short week like a Thursday. Are you hearing what's
coming out? Of your mouth. Yeah, yeah, I do the
way you talked about two in his concussion. Get him
back out there, get out there too, let's go. Yeah.
(01:46:21):
I mean you're you're literally just completely totally. He took choking,
so he knows how to fall now.
Speaker 3 (01:46:28):
So all right, one final time tonight, Breeze and I
got more tweets that we need to get to in
a bit. But Brandon Merrow with what's training. We got
a lot of football going on right now.
Speaker 2 (01:46:36):
Break Yeah, right now.
Speaker 9 (01:46:38):
The Broncos are outscoring the Cardinals seventeen to seven. That's
the last scheme that's currently live. And you guys talked
about it as Stetson Bennett to True Edward's eight yard
touchdown less than ten seconds to go lifted the Rams
over the Chargers in a very very Charger fashion, losing
at the last second.
Speaker 8 (01:46:56):
Stets and Bennett.
Speaker 9 (01:46:57):
Twenty twenty eight three hundred in twenty four yards, so sorry,
three touchdowns and one interception.
Speaker 8 (01:47:03):
Trey Lance finally did get in the game. I was
like screaming. I was like, well, I don't want to
see Taylor heinike, where's Trey Lance?
Speaker 6 (01:47:08):
Like?
Speaker 8 (01:47:08):
I was so confused? Seven to fifteen and twenty one yards.
Speaker 9 (01:47:12):
Justin Herbert did get his first ever preseason reps two
of five for forty six yards.
Speaker 2 (01:47:17):
That brave.
Speaker 9 (01:47:17):
The Ravens beat the Cowboys thirty one at thirteen. Brandon
Aubrey made up seven of those points, Andrew Booth made
up six of those points.
Speaker 8 (01:47:25):
And the Cowboys offense as a total, how many points
do you think they made?
Speaker 10 (01:47:30):
Oh to zero?
Speaker 2 (01:47:34):
Oh, Brandon, I guess.
Speaker 8 (01:47:36):
That was your guests? Yeah, both get yeah, it was
that's wild. Yes, good job guys, thank you.
Speaker 9 (01:47:42):
The Buccaneers defeated the Steelers seventeen to fourteen thanks to
a Chase McLaughlin forty two yard game winning field goal.
Teddy Bridgewater six of eleven eighty five yards and two touchdowns,
and the Giants defeated the Jets thirty one to twelve.
Jackson Dart fourteen to sixteen, one hundred and thirty seven
yards and one touchdown. Earlier today, the Browns did beat
the Eagles twenty two to thirteen. Dylan Gabriel thirteen of
(01:48:04):
eighteen along with one hundred and forty three yards and
one interception, and the forty nine ers defeated the Raiders
twenty two of nineteen in Major League Baseball in the
Battle of the NL West. The Dodgers are shutting out
the Padres five to zero.
Speaker 8 (01:48:18):
Thank gosh. Where else LA was going to burn down
if they were not going to be very happy? No,
they were not.
Speaker 9 (01:48:24):
The Athletics are on top of the Angels two to zero,
top of the second inning, still scoreless between the Rays
and the Giant's bottom of the sixth inning, and the
Yankees are crushing the Cardinals twelve to five.
Speaker 8 (01:48:36):
This was so much fun, guys, Yanks.
Speaker 2 (01:48:38):
Pretty good job, Good job yo.
Speaker 3 (01:48:41):
By the way, they asked about Friday nights, but you're
staying on Fridays right with your crew. What's what your
schedule looking like?
Speaker 8 (01:48:49):
Yeah, that's such a great question. I know nothing. I
was literally like playing, are you coming back next Friday?
Like I don't know what's going on?
Speaker 3 (01:48:56):
Well, actually, hold on, I'm getting to do something really cool.
If Annie, can I talk about this isn't on the
Roman numere Rundown. Oh me me, me, me, me me,
I go ahead, Sure, let's go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:49:05):
I am going to West Point, New York next week.
Speaker 3 (01:49:08):
I'm getting to see my son has what is called
his ring ceremony, ye, and he's made it to be
a firsty, which means you are a senior at West Point.
Speaker 2 (01:49:17):
Oh my goodness, you're like to be like, that's a
big deal. I'm getting kill me man. Proud of the kid.
Speaker 3 (01:49:23):
So I'm gonna go up and celebrate. But I'll be
back for Sunday night. I just I'm gonna miss any
potential fun on Friday. We'll be back a T shirt.
I want an Army T shirt.
Speaker 8 (01:49:32):
Oh my gosh, you're abandoning me, Chris.
Speaker 2 (01:49:34):
I know it's terrible, right.
Speaker 3 (01:49:36):
It's also it's funny because we did this all summer
and talked about leading up to the start of the
football season. And football season gets here and I'm taking
a week and off. It's like, what are you even
doing right now?
Speaker 2 (01:49:48):
But no, it's who are flying? Right? You're not driving
like you like to do. Yeah, I'd love to drive,
but I do. I have to fly.
Speaker 3 (01:49:55):
So I'm flying into Newark. Never flown into Newark before.
That's a pain in the butt place, are you? Don't
you tell me that, Arnie?
Speaker 2 (01:50:04):
Yeah, it is for sure. You'll be delayed in and
out of that place. Don't you even tell me?
Speaker 3 (01:50:08):
I can't be delayed because I am going to be
somewhat cutting it close on Sunday. I've given myself a
five hour window Sunday. Right, that's not bad, right, what
do you think Ian? Five hours? Actually I think it's
six hours is my window on Sunday to get back
in time for the show.
Speaker 2 (01:50:23):
You'll be fine, It'll be funny at time, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:50:26):
I did want to pay off one teas here real
quick because I did want eighty on something that I
felt and in Roman numeral four, yeah, anything from week
two giving you second thoughts, right, And I want to
make this very clear.
Speaker 2 (01:50:41):
I'm a level headed sports guy. You're not a knee
jerk reaction.
Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
I try to let my hogs get too high, my
low's get too low. How to coach tell me that
one time, Arnie. But I do think I completely jumped
out on Justin Fields after today. And it's not as
if I was sitting here last week saying they're going
to the playoffs, go to the super Bowl. It's just
a you know, maybe this is a Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield,
(01:51:05):
Rich Gannon types, Geno Smith situation where a guy finally
gets into the right fit and boom, he's really good.
I don't know if that's the case with Justin Fields
right now, Arnie and watching their backups play even and
Justin Field's gonna get hurt, He's gonna miss a game
or talk. So it was just a little bit gross
out there for the Jets. So I did won eighty
(01:51:26):
on where I thought it was not gonna be as
bad as it could be. I'm now starting to wonder
if it could be as bad well as I think
it might be with Justin Fields. I'm not even doing
a one eighty on this team.
Speaker 4 (01:51:35):
I'm more convinced than ever that it's not gonna be
a good year for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and that that
Aaron or Aaron Rodgers are gonna have a bad year.
Speaker 2 (01:51:42):
I don't think they'll sniffed the play. Was it that
jumped out? I mean, because he hasn't really played right,
I understand that. I just don't like the way their
team is this year. I don't I don't like that.
I don't like Rogers, Let's just be honest. I think
especially have ever since they came up with that video
of him, Will can slower than he remember that where
he was running around going through the cones, going through
(01:52:04):
the drills. Oh he threw a Touchdob passed. Yeah, but
he was running around for a minute and a half.
You know, I just I don't think it's gonna happen
for them. I think finally they're gonna have to make
that a streak of five hundred is gonna come to
an end. We are distinctly different on them, man. I
love them a lot, I really do.
Speaker 3 (01:52:21):
All right, Hey, when we come back, Arnie's picks are
right around the corner, and a couple of good tweets,
and I don't want to miss out on next Arnie
and Plank On a Saturday here on Fox Sports Radio,
Fun shout a night stinking genius. I literally cannot believe
it's almost over. So thanks to Mary mack Is always
(01:52:42):
on the Ones and twos. Awesome job by Ian Roddy
Brie crashing it on the updates, incredible information. Also thanks
to all the millions and millions of editors working behind
the scenes to get us all the great audio for
the show tonight. You didn't mention how good of a day,
my boy, theo we's had for you guys. Today's he
gonna make that team.
Speaker 2 (01:53:02):
I don't know, I don't know I'm not sure about that.
Why is he? Why is your boy former Sooner? Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:53:09):
Mom, man, he spent three years here at Oklahoma and
then he went to Missouri and had two great seasons.
And I think what undrafted free agent is where.
Speaker 2 (01:53:17):
They brought him in from. He wasn't drafted yet. Yeah,
good good player. Probably maybe end up being a practice
squad guy. We could use a little backup. You have
no idea who I'm talking about? Due, Yeah, wide receiver right, Okay, So.
Speaker 3 (01:53:29):
The way he were answering my questions, like either he's
dancing around he has no idea who THEOIZ is or
oh I.
Speaker 4 (01:53:35):
Didn't know a lot about him before, but yeah, I
wouldn't have known him if he wasn't there, I mean
on Miamis though.
Speaker 3 (01:53:40):
Yeah, Hey, one more quick tweet before he gets to
your picks, Brendan writes, because he gets it. Because this
show is Todnight, It's s O R same old Raiders.
The lack of discipline is still a colossal issue until
they mature and quit being morons with the trying to
unnecessarily beat up opponent. It's been They will never sniff
(01:54:01):
the Super Bowl again. I listen, Brandon I'm gonna be
honest with you. As soon as we're done here. I
got an ice cold but ice calling my name, and
I'm gonna sit down and I'm gonna rewatch the game.
Speaker 2 (01:54:14):
Because I was actually kind of excited about.
Speaker 3 (01:54:16):
The way that they played what I watched the first time.
Maybe I'm gonna be grossed out by when.
Speaker 2 (01:54:21):
I watch reaction. That's not me, man, I'm not I'll
be the worst.
Speaker 3 (01:54:26):
Hey, it's not me unless it comes to my teams,
and then it's absolutely yes. As my dad would always
tell me, do as I say, not as I do.
All right, stinking genius, I know you got picks for
the people because we got games coming up tomorrow, so
take it away.
Speaker 2 (01:54:39):
All right.
Speaker 4 (01:54:39):
We're going gonna do the preseason games. I'm not gonna
do the college football games.
Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
We got time for that. I'm gonna I'll give that
tomorrow for a week.
Speaker 1 (01:54:48):
One.
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
Give me a little music, put me in the mood.
Speaker 10 (01:54:50):
Mary.
Speaker 2 (01:54:51):
We got the Jaguars and the Saints. I agree with you.
The Saints are the worst team. Oh welcome aboard, Sorry Bray, Yeah,
they're the worst team in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:54:58):
As a matter of fact, I'm gonna take Jacksonville way
the three points even though it's in New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (01:55:03):
On that one the Bills and the Bears.
Speaker 4 (01:55:04):
The Bears are playing to win, so you got to
weigh the two and a half with Chicago. And then
we have a Monday night football game Bengals and Commanders. Uh,
Cincinnati a three point favorite. How wild is this line?
If this was a regular season game, the Commanders probably
be like a six point favorite. But I think Washington
plus the three in that one. So there you have
(01:55:27):
my pickst do with them as you please, no longer
strictly for entertainment purposes only. And what I didn't tell you, Chris,
a couple of weeks ago, my kid ran in the
Cincinnati marathon and.
Speaker 2 (01:55:38):
Finished second in the marathon. Yeah, but it's not that impressive.
There was only like about four or five hundred people.
So yeah, so what he's gonna finally got your music? Yeah,
he's gonna run into New York City Marathon coming up
in I think that's in November or something. Is it
(01:55:59):
something that he wants to do more of? Yeah, he's
just he's been running for about a year and a half. Now.
Speaker 4 (01:56:05):
He wants me to come watch, but you know, I
got football, and what am I gonna do? Watch and
run by me once I can't keep up because I
was on a bicycle or something.
Speaker 2 (01:56:14):
Please tell me you're joking. What do you mean joking?
You're gonna go support Shay. I let my wife go.
Speaker 3 (01:56:21):
Do you know it's funny? You were allowing me the
opportunity to talk about my trip next week? Yeah, and
on one of the things that they scent it said,
And Saturday family and friends can join in on a
five k fun run.
Speaker 2 (01:56:35):
Oh there you go, that's right up your alley.
Speaker 3 (01:56:38):
I can't think of anything that I want to do
less than run a five k through the hills of Westport. Well,
everyone's going at a base and I'll be like, I'm good.
Just give me second right here. Try to rehydrate with
like Coors Light or something.
Speaker 2 (01:56:52):
Knowing my luck. Oh, do I have to be a
T shirt? Give me a long sleeve T shirt with
you want long sleeve? Is that what you want? That's right?
I live in the East Coast. I got a short
sleeve one. I don't live in Goolesby, Oklahoma. Goolesby the
fact that you say Goulesby. Would It's so easy to say,
just the chronic misinterpretation. Our mispronunciation is amazing. All right,
(01:57:13):
don't forget. We're about to wrap things up. But when
we're done. If you missed any of today's show, be
sure to check out the podcast. Search Fox Sports Radio
wherever you get your podcasts, and be sure to follow
and review the podcast rat at five stars and just

Speaker 3 (01:57:30):
All right, so let me hit a couple of these
quick before we get out the door. Number nine, Roman
numeral nine. You're Matt at Travis kelcey. Is this something
we need to talk about tomorrow night?
Speaker 2 (01:57:40):
Now?
Speaker 4 (01:57:40):
But you see the numbers that Taylor Swift put up
when you joined the podcast.
Speaker 2 (01:57:44):
Pretty unreal?
Speaker 4 (01:57:45):
Right, Oh, that's insane, that's absolutely INCREDI that he's gonna
take all the credit.
Speaker 2 (01:57:49):
Our podcast is a number one.
Speaker 4 (01:57:50):
I'd have those numbers two if it was the Arnie
and Taylor Swift podcast. You know that how many people
would be how many peop would be whistling right now?
Was Arnie like and Taylor Swift? Arnie, Yeah, Arnie playing
and Swift? We'd have to put her first t swift
playing is the way that it would work.
Speaker 3 (01:58:09):
Okay, But you didn't have a problem with Travis Kelcey
admitting maybe he was getting a little bit too Hollywood.
Speaker 2 (01:58:14):
I everybody knew that last year.
Speaker 4 (01:58:17):
It took its toll with all the travel and that's
why his productions down. Did you see his over under
on how many touchdowns he's supposed to have this year?
Speaker 2 (01:58:24):
What was it at you want to take guests thirteen?
You better, you better go to Vegas, buddy? Why were
they have it at four and a half for his
touchdown receptions this year for the for just touchdowns. I
don't think it was receptions, just touchdowns. Okay, Well, I
must be like way off and in thinking what he could.
(01:58:46):
Let's I miss unless I don't, unless I miss.
Speaker 3 (01:58:49):
Probably I'm probably off. I mean he did not have
a great year last year, but I mean they have
last year. The dude is good for like five of
those against the Raiders every single year.
Speaker 2 (01:59:00):
Four and a half I thought I heard was the
over I think that's what it was. Four and a
half was the total number he actually scored three last
three last year. Wow, I was way off. Holy smokes,
So do you still like them in the over four
and a half or no, I feel like all three
of those touchdowns came against the Raiders last year.
Speaker 3 (01:59:18):
I'm not gonna lie. I'm looking down at this stat
right now. I'm like, this cannot be true.
Speaker 2 (01:59:22):
Kansas City did not have a big, you know, offensive
They weren't a big offensive juggernaut last year, and I
don't necessarily know that they're going to be this year. Either.
Speaker 4 (01:59:31):
But I got a half slow, you know, ir whate
good game, and you got two touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (01:59:36):
I think I would be all over that over Yeah,
I agree with you. I thought that was low. That
seems super low to me, all right, and then we
got like a minute left. We talked about Mike McDaniel.
But I guess this carries over to number eighteen. You
feel a little anti kse rhetoric.
Speaker 4 (01:59:52):
I heard of everybody talking about how they're off the
Kansas City bandwagon. Not only on this network. Everybody is
kind of jumping off the BAI wagon. No, I think
rightfully so offensively. Like I said, they were not the
offensive juggernaut. Kelsey certainly at the end of his career.
It's kind of like a changing of the guard. I
(02:00:13):
don't see a problem with that. I'm kind of down
on Kansas City also.
Speaker 2 (02:00:18):
Well, I think I think we might have something we
just agree upon.
Speaker 3 (02:00:21):
There you go, only for Patrick Mahomes to walk into
Las Vegas like Indiana Jones, Tipple of Doom, Kyle Lumar
and reach in and rip out every single raider.
Speaker 2 (02:00:29):
Have a good trip, my friend. Be careful to have
fun out there. That's a goal. Right.
Speaker 3 (02:00:34):
We'll be back tomorrow night so we can talk about
this more, Arnie Night, ten p to one a Central Time,
eleven p to two a eastern border to border, coast
to coast. Right here on Fox Sports Radio, Aaron and
Jason are next to keep it locked.
