Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to sports. Oh, let's go, let's go,
let's go. Um wow, I'm still trying to figure out
what's going on in this game tonight. That's where I
think we need to start. Now. I understand you better
believe it. I know you want to start with your Dolphins,
(00:22):
and you have a segment for that. T T W
A P to a time with already in plank, that's
later on. Were you still having this segment scheduled when
he threw his pick six? I don't want to talk
about that right now, but T T T W A P.
That's later on in the show. That's two a time.
(00:42):
We're already in plank. But you know, sometimes you prepare
all day for a show and I have today. I
want lie, I'm ready, and a story comes out of
the blue, and then you just tear everything up and
that just leads the way over everything else you'd prepare for.
You know, so I would have assume that story is
the inability for the Buccaneers to do anything tonight right Oh,
(01:05):
the summer nine eleven o two pm Eastern, the day
Tom Brady's career officially came to and we're and we're
the first on the air in the entire world the
day it happened. How about that that as we are
watching Tom Brady's career officially coming, it is officially OvR,
(01:29):
we happened to be on the air. What a stroke
of look this is. I'm getting tears in my eyes
and well, this is incredible. I wish I could be
on board with you. I so wish I could be
on because they look so good tonight. Is that what you?
Let's go to Twitter and see what they've got to say.
Gris Well, I mean, Arnie, this is what makes doing
the show with you extremely raging, because you know, two
(01:52):
weeks ago Tom Brady is the greatest thing that's ever
played football and no one can ever stop him. Now,
fast forward two weeks later, and he's had three of
his key pieces on offense go down with injuries. Well up,
but his career is suddenly over because for some reason,
I don't I don't know how to explain it. I'll
(02:13):
get out of your way, but I don't know how
to explain. But New Orleans has just absolutely had their number.
They have had Tampa's number for some reason. Of the
regular season. At one I sent your Christmas presents so
I get to be an a hole to you for
another entire year. That's the rules, right, that's the rules
of the thing too. I haven't seen tom Brady looked
this bad? Ever? Is that fair to say? Ever? I
(02:39):
get's fair to say. I mean, they're having a rough night.
You're you're watching the top Brady one week he's he's
already just got picked off. There's the nail in the coffin. Goodbye,
Tom Brady. I so wish I could be on board. Goodbye.
I mean, it's a tough and it drops the Buccaneers
(03:00):
to ten and four on the seats. If you want
to take the rest of the night off, we'll get
Rob Parker. I'm sure he'll be more than happy show tonight.
If you guys just want to sit and barry Tom
Brady all night long, that's that's fine. But again, I'll
point out that the loss drops them to ten and
four and pushes them just one game out of the
top seed. And he didn't say anything about the Buccaneers.
(03:24):
I just said, Tom Brady, that's all. So in your opinion,
is it blame Gabbert time? Then? In Tampa? Is that
is that the vibe I'm getting from well, I mean
unlessa by the way, Taysom Hill is I'll play Tom
Brady tonight. You know that, don't you. Well, every time
I see Taysom Hill, all they're doing is running like
screens and he's running powers. So I don't really know.
(03:47):
I don't really know if if I would would buy that.
But from a pure numbers of perspective, Arney, you're not
in correct house and and by the way, not at
you see that. It's not just the numbers. It's not
that Tom Brady's got a fifty four point nine puzzle rating.
It's not that he has no touchdowns and they're getting
shut out. It's it's not all that, you know what
it is. You see the frustration in his face, barking
(04:10):
at the officials, yelling, just looking even getting frustrated with
chronk out there. It's like, guys, this is the end
of my career and this is how I'm going out.
And you can just feel the frustration and believe me
I'm not wrong. You want to go in and just
see what people are saying on Twitter about Tom Brady's
performance tonight. You know, remember remember what they have a
(04:31):
time of disorder. What do you think about Kingman's performance
tonight after he had three ur runs. I can't quote
what he had to say about that. What do you
think about Tom Brady's performance? It was horrible today, absolutely horrible.
I don't disagree, but I'm not saying he's finished. You
do realize they play Carolina, the Jets in Carolina to
wrap up their seats, So I don't know how that works.
(04:51):
It's like he's BELICHICKI and taking it with him. It's
like they they somehow get the easiest schedule to finish
up every year. I don't want it to fan Tom Rady,
so I'll just go with you tonight, Yes, larretie, career
over bucks are done. Maybe Brady should just announce his
retirement at the podium. Whatever this thing is over my
doing this right? I see skip Bay was saying, no
(05:13):
idea what Brady was going at the Saints. He's a
sore loser, maybe he said, I hope I see you
guys in the playoffs like last year. Yeah, Brady is
a sore loser. I wonder if he's gonna shake hands
after the game. Am I a bad person that I
don't want to see a good loser? I mean, I'm
being serious here, and I was like, oh, man, he's
such a poor loser. Good. I want you to be
pissed when you lose. I don't want sportsmanship is stupid.
(05:35):
And the idea that I was like, oh yeah, he's
not a good good I don't want him to be
a good sport I want him to be mad. I
wanted to drive him. Uh. The Saints are not a
good football team, but somehow, some way they find a
way to just drive the Buccaneers crazy. You know what,
let's be clear one area that I absolutely agree with you,
one bazillion percent. This is a horrible loss, not just
(05:57):
in the fact that you lost to the New Orleans Saints,
but they're about to get shut out and hip. And
he threw the computer screen too, so you gotta bring
that up. He threw the table he threw the tablets.
So there you go. I'm really happy to see that
you're ready to bury your boy here this evening. So
(06:17):
this day, I mean eleven right now, eleven oh seven
East Coast time. Uh, you know, just uh, you know,
five days before Christmas one and we're watching the uh
the other Tom Brady is kind of kind of sad. Well,
I mean So does this mean that you're completely out.
I mean, I just want to make this very clear
because we're about bombastic states statements here right, and I'll
(06:39):
give you the compliment sandwich here right, you had Jacksonville
winning nine or ten games this year. You do have
Miami in the midst of a winning streak that you
said they would never lose again, the best prediction in
the history of the world. When I said that the
Dolphins would win nine in a row and in seven,
you thought I was nuts, Right, Well, my job was
on the line, on my jobs on the as nuts
(07:00):
as I thought you were when you said New England
was gonna be a four win football team this year.
So five, oh, I'm sorry, five wins. So in that stand,
what you're you're hitting about one for three so far
on hitting is so crazy. I get like, well, the
one you're hitting is crazy, But I mean you did
spit some fire in Bobo. I can remember a lot
of screaming and yelling with us being called stupid morons
(07:23):
because well, Jacksonville has a Hall of Fame coach and
there's no way this isn't gonna work. So, I mean,
I might have a long memory on that one. Yeah,
I don't think that one's gonna work out. But okay,
well let me let me try to play non Tom
Brady is done here, let me go. I don't even know.
Is there an anti person for that? Oh yeah, it's
called a logical human being. You'll be fighting everybody on Twitter,
(07:44):
I promise you that. Okay, well, I'll take on that battle.
You know Twitter's right on everything, so I'll just I'll
take my chances. Man. But what if you know, in
a week to week league Tampa just had its Jacksonville
versus Buffalo. What if, oh my gosh, and they rough
the kickers. I know that the puntery is out there
(08:06):
is celebrating after getting roughed, which is fantastic, But what
if they what if they had their bad game? I mean,
I went through this, We went through this a couple
of weeks ago. And I know that no one likes
to look at history, but we were having a Tampa
Bay is Done conversation last year when they were seven
and five going into their bye week after losing to Kansas.
(08:27):
I don't think we haven't had an official Tom Brady's
done um until how long ago was that Kansas City game?
I don't remember how long ago that game was, November
twenty nine, Week twelve of No No, the One World.
You mean you mean as far as against oh, the
first of the seas. Oh gosh, I gotta go back
(08:47):
on that one a little. I want to say it
was like sixteen, maybe because it was before Patrick Mahomes
was starting. I want to say like six years ago,
six seven years ago. U we haveficially, we haven't officially
buried him like that since since then. That's so now
it's appropriate to do it now. It's funny to me.
It's okay. So it was, Uh, it wasn't sixteen. So
(09:08):
was it seventeen when they opened the season and had
that It was it was two thousand seventeen. It was
the Thursday opener when they got she melt two twenties
seven at home against Kansass. So you're saying that the
four year rule is is do here that he's so
(09:31):
let me ask you this. Let me tell you this
is not even a hot take. You wait till Twitter
gets hold on. This is tomorrow. Everybody's gonna be burying
Tom Brady and Tampa. You know that, right, I'm not
I'm only the first to do it. There'll be many
after me. Everybody buries Tom Brady for some reason anyway, Aren'tie.
I don't know. I don't know why or what it is,
but I just get the sense that Tom Brady is
(09:52):
always seemingly buried whenever. And they're gonna start giving us
all the stats on the last time he was shut out,
if he's ever been shut out, I don't know it.
It's gonna give. I mean, his this is about one
of the worst games he's ever played in his life.
You know that, don't know. I don't disagree with you, dot, Um,
here you go. Tom Brady has gone two hundred and
fifty five consecutive starts without being shut out. It's the
(10:16):
second longest streak by quarterback all time. Drew Brees went
his entire career without being shut out in a start
three hundred and four games. Also, also, this will be
the uh this is the fifth time that a Brady
lead team has been shut out through three quarters. Um.
(10:38):
I mean again, we're we're wrapping up. There's two minutes
left in the fourth quarter. They're probably not getting the
ball back. We'll see, but they lost to the Saints.
The most recent was with the Buccaneers in Week nine
against the Saints. Against the Saints, Arnie, they lost that
game thirty eight to three. Now, uh, you all know
Sean Payton is out tonight, so you're getting eight hundred
(11:01):
shots on the sidelines of Dennis Allen. I know Danny
g can attest to this, but I have to know
just how horrific his stint was as they had football
coach with the Vegas Raiders behind the scenes. Because my
man hasn't even got a sniff yea something, I mean, bad,
bad records. You can still get hired. Something went horrifically
(11:24):
wrong there. But again, I get it. We we we
have to have answers, we need to have excuses. But
my gosh, Arny, I think that this was just ugly.
I think you lose Mike Evans, you lose Leonard Fournette
would uh god god when he went out as well
to at one point during this game, So you lose
three of your big weapons. And I just that's gonna
be my excuse, Senator for Tom Brady to I'm so
(11:45):
I'm so anxious to see if, like Bruce arians said, yeah,
our quarterback just didn't get it done tonight. You know,
he will Oh, No, he won't. He think he will. No,
he won't. He know not to do it, No, he won't.
I don't know, man, I don't know if i'd be
calling out Bruce arians not to have the guts to
do something. But I feel like I feel he's gonna
put this on Tom Brady. This will be okay. I'm
(12:05):
a wak alright, we'll be We'll be watching the editors
beyond the scene or went for the sound. And And
the only reason I bring that up, Chris, is because
we know that he's done it before, what three, four
or five times, I don't even know how many times. Um, No, way,
he's got the guts to do it. He's gonna have
to brush it off and go, uh, you know we've lost,
we lost gods Godwin. He'll do what I've done four
(12:27):
Net we lost, Uh, I forget her. The third one
was god Win four Nette and playoff, Lenny. I'm sorry
you just said Evans, Yeah right right, Mike Evans and
blah blah blah. They'll just say we're just gonna go
ahead and move on from this, and that he's not
gonna make a big deal about that. I promise you,
I will be very interested to hear what Bruce arians
(12:48):
has to say. No team. How about this stat that
NBC just popped up, no team leading the NFL and
points has been shut out at home in December or
January since nine, eighteen seventy. Wow, that's pretty incredible. But again,
who is that like the Oilers or something. I want
(13:08):
to say, It looked like it popped up and said Dallas.
Do you guys see that? I think it was like
Dallas back in nineteen seventy. But I'm very interested. And
then there's two ways of this can go right. First
of all, Tampa has that soft schedule to wrap things
up right, You've got, as I mentioned, what Carolina, who
do I have in the minute? And they got another
game with Carolina. So Tampa's got a very soft schedule
(13:31):
the rest of the way. So they're likely going to
win their next to three games. So it's not a
situation where I think you look at this and go,
oh no, the bottom is gonna fall out. Oh it
said Jets, thank you. So it's at Carolina at the
Jets and back home for Carolina. But again, you know,
if indeed there's a few rumblings and frustration aren't you
(13:51):
just you kind of never know how this can react
throughout a locker room. They got great leadership there. We'll
wait and see what the health is is like for uh,
for Godwin and for net and for Mike Evans. But man,
this is this is the type of loss that can
sting a little bit off. Guys start point fingers. Not
always stinging a little bit, but if it costs you
(14:11):
the number one seed, it's so important to have. It
was only one team. He gets that by that that's
the difference between going to a super Bowl or not.
It is a big game tonight and they were absolutely horrible.
I wonder if they get points on the board, uh
to avoid the shutout. I'm if they kick a field goal,
and I was thinking about that if they gick, well,
we needed to get a field goal and adown, so
(14:31):
we decided to get the field goal first. All right,
when't we come back on Fox Sports Radio, will be
joined by Matt Verderan from Fans Side, and we've got

recapping all the games from this week. We'll kick off

Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast or wherever you get your
podcast ARTI and Plank on the Fox Football Sunday We're
pumped to welcome in after a little history denied our
buddy Matt Verder and first shutout of Tom Brady since
week fifteen of two thousand and six. That was December
two six against your Dolphins. Uh, Matt, First of all,
(15:59):
why why why do you think Dennis Allen hasn't received
any more sniffs for head coaching vacancies. Didn't really go
that wrong with the Raiders. I mean, record wise, we
know it did, but it just seems like he keeps
churning out solid defenses. Yeah, it went that wrong with
the Raider. He's a really good coordinator and you know, look,
(16:21):
would it would it be crazy think he ever gets
a head coaching job again. No, do I think you will.
I think it's a long shot. But um, he's done
a really nice job in New Orleans. This has been
a good defense for years now. And to win that game,
I get tampad. Some guys go out the things are
destroying them before anybody went so, didn't I'm all the
credit in the world, A huge one for New Worlds.
(16:43):
You'll go the schedule. Miami's a tough team. Next week
after that Panthers Falcons like they can very well with
tennant seven. Yeah, you know, Matt, I called this in
Historic nine. I said December nine PM, stood will remember
the day where we were when we saw Tom Grady.
Tom Brady his career officially come to an end, and
and not just like we did a couple of years
(17:04):
ago to Kansas City and all that. I mean officially
come to the end. He got shut out, He had
a passer rating of fifty seven point zero, He had
no touchdowns, he had one interception, he had a fumble.
It was the worst game in Tom Brady's career. This
is officially officially the start of the end of his career.
You know that, right? Yeah, we'll see in the NITY
(17:26):
Championship game. They'll be there playing green Bay again and
it's gonna come down to who plays better up front.
But looks it, Tampa, the laws really doesn't It doesn't
really hurt you in the stains. Oh, you're gonna win
the division and we're not gonna get home field after
green Bay held on and be Baltimore today and what
(17:47):
was a plot closer game that most people expected. But
the Packers are gonna win out. They're not losing Cleveland
at home on Christmas, and they're not going to lose
to the Fight or the Lions. So they're gonna get
go one where it does hurt Tampa. I was just
running the playoff machine, which I spent way too much
time on. And if you look at it, Tampa Bay,
(18:08):
they they do not win this three way tiebreaker right
now with Dallas and Arizona, Dallas is the two seed. Well,
if the Rams end up jumping up and winning out, um,
even if Tampa wins out Dallas was like Row ends
up going that way, Tampa would lose that tiebreak completely.
Like they could they could win out and be the
four seed depending on what Dallas and the Rands and
(18:31):
the Cardinals do. So the Bucks lost control of at
least being the two, which matters in the sense eight.
There are five really good teams the nfc B two
ce Joe at two games at all. Now, all of
a sudden, you're the Bucks, you might very well only
go one game at all, m um. So basically what
I'm hearing, Matt is you're with me. We don't have
(18:52):
to have thoughts and prayers to Tom Brady's career quite yet, right,
Oh no, don't chance there. So I mean, the only
thing that would scare you, and it's not about Brady.
But if you're the Box, you know last year they
were incredibly healthy and that's through with most teams that
win the Super Bowl. I mean that that's just kind
of the way things shake. But they've got a lot
(19:14):
of injuries. They and they've been hurt all year long,
mostly in the secondary. Now all of a sudden, godwin,
you know, recording the rap four things you have sprained.
Mc l evans is hurt for nets hurt. Now, maybe
those guys are fine, their back to the plass, somebody deal,
Maybe they're not, who knows, but these are these are
players that we saw at night. I mean, the Buccaneers
(19:35):
played what I think is a pretty pedestrian Saints team
and couldn't beat them, couldn't even come within a score
of him. So the Bucks need to get healthier, and
right now that's not happening. They're going in the wrong direction,
no doubt about that. Mad they I was, I was
again watching earlier. So what happened to your Kansas City Chiefs?
(19:57):
They look phenomenal beating the charge is in overtime. Um,
you can't drop Kelsey. It's incredible what they're able to
do with him. I can't believe that nobody's being able
to put a body on him and stop him. He's
just such a great route runner. But that's really what
it is. I mean, he's athletic for being a Titan
thirty years old. He's not the same athlete he was,
(20:19):
but he's just so incredible in and out of his
brag and and he's got such a good chouistry as
the homes look, I gotta I gotta tell you, they
had the best weekend of anybody this week. I don't
even need to arguable, like they've basically won the a
f U West. If they lost that game, they probably
would have been a log cart um. Then the Pats
lose with Wents throwing for like fifty six yards that
(20:41):
the past amount lost that game. And then the Titans,
who completely dominated If anybody watch that Titan Steelers the game,
the Titans should have won that game by twenty and
somehow because the four turnovers, Pittsburgh ends up winning by
by an inch at the end of the game. And
now of j Kansas City, you've got the one sheet
(21:01):
on your racket. You are a ten and a half
point favorite next week against Pittsburgh. M You're in pretty
good shape. And it's certainly nothing is society, but all
of a sudden you're the chief you're thinking we went
out We're definitely the one we went tout at three
week might be the one. Hey, Matt, I'm curious. I
know they lost today. The Ravens are still in a
good spot to make the playoffs, but did they find
(21:24):
themselves a nice trade piece? Maybe and Tyler Huntley knowing
that they're probably going to commit long term to Lamar Jackson.
I've been impressed with what I've seen in a couple
of starts. Can he be in every week starter in
the league, I don't know, but he's intriguing. Um. I
think certainly he's got value. And look, you know, you'll
(21:45):
look at the way they threw the ball today. It
was it was bizarre in the sense Andrew's was incredible.
Nobody else on the Ravens quote a past from nine
or more yards the entire game. Nobody it was Andrew's
or nothing but Huntley game ran from sending the art
accounted for four touchdowns. He throws the ball with good jip.
I mean his numbers throwing weren't were an outrageous showing
(22:07):
Afrige like five and a half yards in the camp company.
I think, I think it's totally artists of two fifteen.
But he's intriguing. I mean, you listen, he looks as
good as not better than any of the rookie quarterbacks
around the league. So yeah, you could definitely make that
argument for him. Um, and if you're Baltimore, Yeah, I mean, look,
I think in the meantime he's a good backup. But
(22:29):
why not. I mean, if some teams want to give
you a nice pick um, I think you at least
would certainly listen. Yeah, I know that, Matt. Look, without
getting political, we got two games on Monday, two games
on Tuesday. We have a new what a new COVID
policy and effect right now where it's kind of like,
don't ask, don't tell that we're we're not going to
test unless you want to come forward and be tested.
(22:52):
And I guess that means we're not gonna have any
more games being postponed. Yeah, I mean that that apparently
is Look, I think being Sell has kind of to
come to the realization that if they're going to test
all these guys as often as they've been testing them,
especially now if the on the cron variant everything going
on in the country, you're gonna be in a situation
where a lot of guys are going to have to
(23:13):
miss and I think you know people, I've seen people
draw a linear line to last year to this year.
You can hear they're vaccines. Plus percent of the league
is vaccinated. And it's not a political thing to just say, look,
if you're vaccinated, you have a lot lesser shot of
getting really um And I think you know, the league
(23:33):
looking at this and let's let's first, let's just be
real about it. The NFL is looking at this from
a money perspective and saying, we don't want our product
to be cheap, and we don't have to deal with
this now that almost every being in the league, really
the vast majority of the guys are vaccinated. The odds
are overwhelming that everyone will be fine, and so we're
not gonna We're not going to risk our product. Now.
(23:54):
Is that really cold and corporate and shortsighted to make
that argument. But I think the NFL on the hands
and looking at this thing. We've done what we can.
Now as long as the NFLPA is on board with us,
we're going to kind of loosen the range for guys
were vaccinatedation a thematic and in the meantime we'll test
guys who are unvaccinated or who have symptoms. But we're
(24:16):
not going to be a stringent and it's it's a
business decision that I do believe in some ways is
back by Shinne Matt. Let's go on this. We're gonna
have a hell of a battle for those seven and
six spots in the NFC and a fun one for
the sixth and the seventh in the a f C.
Maybe even the fifth, sixth and seventh in the a
f C. Yeah, it's gonna be really interesting. The Colts
(24:37):
got a huge win on Saturday. You think even though
they've got to go to Arizona Chrishman seven, they lose
that game Raiders at home at National last two weeks,
you think they get those wens that they should make
the playoffs. Um, you'll look at you know, New England
and Buffalo. I mean one of them are gonna win
the division. And really the a f C championship game
is basically next Sunday, because whoever wins that game, you're
(24:59):
gonna win the video ever loses tea. Um, but I
think the Chargers are gonna get in. I think that's
probably Shake gort to be He's fascinating, But you're you're
gonna have four teams for three weeks left. Don't all
have real shots? All can get in as as a
division winner hosts the playoff game, and there's a real
(25:21):
chance to the three teams that don't win it won't
even make the playoffs. The NFC. Yeah, look, you're getting
three teams out of the NFC West. You're getting Dallas,
You're getting Camp, you get Rebay and then who I
kind of lay up the cage her. I think with
his win, I think the Shaints are going to get
in because they really are. They're gonna be favorite every
game they play the rest of the year. I think
they've gotta get shot. Matt. We always appreciate you. Check
(25:42):
his his article that pops up on fans side at
first thing tomorrow morning. But always great insight. We'll talk
to again soon. Sounds good, Verdion, I'm catching a little longer.
I'm just I'm so infatuated with that race within the
a f C. It's five, six and seven, because you
know the four of you feel pretty good about the
four right now, even though the af C North is crazy,
(26:02):
but man, that battle for the seventh seed in the
NFC is fascinating. So let's get the inside scoop, shall
we Steve to Sega with everything going on in the
world of sports. What's going on? Steve Good evening, gentlemen.
Tom Brady shot out for the first time in over
two hundred fifty starts. It was New Orleans nine nothing
winners at Tampa Bay, a game with no touchdowns. Tampa
(26:23):
Bay missed a chance to go to eleven and three,
as Green Bay did earlier today, and you saw the
wide receiver injuries for the Bucks in the first half.
Mike Evans left with a bad hamstring did not return.
Chris Godwin left with a knee injury and the first
half did not return. NFL media calling the Godwin injury
a sprained mc l so. Right after the game, head
coach Bruce Arian says wide receiver Antonio Brown will be
(26:46):
welcome back to the team now that the suspension is over.
That is all just. I'm sure it happens stance that
these things go at the same time. By the way,
we can update the NFC conference standings. By the way,
green Bay alone in first steid eleven and three. There
is a three way tie for second, a game behind
them Dallas, tenant for Tampa Bay, tenant for Arizona tenant four.
(27:09):
When it's a three way tie and Arizona doesn't play
one of those teams, it goes to conference record, and
the Dallas Cowboys are the only team in the entire
NFL that has only one conference loss. So the Dallas
Cowboys are the two seed right now. They win that
tie break because you remember Dallas Laws the opening game
that Thursday night at Tampa Bay in early September. They
(27:30):
haven't lost a single conference game since eight and one overall,
So Dallas the two seed for now, put Tampa Bay
at three Arizona at four. Although keep in mind, as
shaky as Arizona has looked in recent weeks, there is
an enormous game on the horizon in a couple of weeks.
It's the Cardinals at Dallas Sunday, January second, on Fox TV.
(27:52):
It's in the late afternoon slot. Cardinals at Dallas, their
next to last game of the season. By the way,
Tom Brady was sacked four times tonight, one interception, one fumble.
Green Bay's win had well three touchdown passes from Aaron
Rodgers in a thirty one thirty victory at Baltimore as
the Ravens missed a late two point pass attempt. Quarterback
Tyler Huntley of Baltimore four total touchdowns. He was as
(28:14):
I recall Pack twelve offensive player the Year. But no,
I didn't expect him to be starting games in the
NFL and looking like this, and of course already knows all, yes,
thinks he knows all. Two passing tds in the first half,
two rushing tds late in the game. San Francisco won
its game thirty one thirteen over Atlanti, so the Niners
(28:34):
have won five of six. Cincinnati a fifteen to ten
winner at Denver, Buffalo over Carolina. Remember New England lost
last night. Buffalo is just a game behind first place
New England in the an f C East. Buffalo plays
at New England next Sunday. Detroit got three touchdown passes
from Jared Goff and beat up Arizona thirty to twelve.
(28:55):
And Arizona better gets together. The Cardinals this Saturday night
will be hosting that Colts team we saw a win
last night. Miami somehow has won six games in a row.
The Jets, No, certainly not. You know, every time we
mentioned the Arizona basketball. You get Arnie, Yeah, exactly right.
(29:17):
So every time we mentioned the dolphins, are you gonna
give it the little flipper noises? I don't know. I
don't flipper noise, you know what I'm talking about. Yeah,
that's pretty good. Okay, supposedly that's a dolphin. But I
touched have fast with about three and a half minutes
to go beat the Jets. I watched a ton of
(29:38):
the Pittsburgh Tennessee game today and I still don't know
how the Titans lost. It is just as baffling as
the Chargers losing Thursday night. In fact, the irony is
although they lost in different ways. A Charger win Thursday
night would have given them the one seed in the
a f C, they blew it. A Tennessee win today
would have given them the number one seed in the
a f C for now, and they blew it Titans
(29:59):
with four turn overs which led to four Steeler field goals,
almost no offense for Pittsburgh, and they won the game.
Nine road wins for Dallas and Houston. College football note
quarterback bow Knicks is transferring from Auburn to Oregon. The
NHL suspended cross border travel for a week. The NBA
had three of its games today postpone due to health protocols.
(30:20):
Lakers lost again at Chicago one one, ten Bulls, the
final l ana of DeMar DeRozan with thirty eight points,
as he had in the first matchup with the Lakers.
So the l A Lakers have a record of sixteen
and fifteen. Back to you, thanks Steve. It's already in
plank on a Fox of Football Sunday and we, as
always are brought to you in part by Discover. Real
(30:40):
credit card questions require real people, someone who understands your
issues and works to resolve them with you, and that's
why Discover offers helpful US based representatives available seven Discover
exceptionally common sense. You know, one area Areny where you
truly are undefeated, is not understanding the difference between the
(31:01):
time zone you live in and the time zone that
Bobo lives in. Yeah, Bobo, what time did the text
hit your phone this morning? From Arnie in a cowboy sweat?
I'm sorry Scar from ten years ago. By the way
the pit I was like, damn, Areney, you're looking good.
It's like ten years ago. Yeah, I was. I was
about to say, wait a minute, I don't remember him
looking at that. I liked, dude, you look good. Are
(31:22):
any way to take care of you? He sent the message.
I got it at five a m. I'm not kid, dude,
I'm out. Like, for instance, I've been I fell asleep
last night watching TV on the couch, woke up to
my phone buzzing at which, again it's pretty early for me,
seven thirty. The kids were sleeping, and I'm like, he
(31:43):
tagged Bobo on a on the West cons Well. The
good thing about it, you can't because my phone when
I got to sleep one vibrate. So the only people
that break me up are my parents, my girl, and
my son. That's it. Anybody else the ringer what up?
I was cracking. I was like, man, Arnie, just no kid.
(32:03):
My personal favorite is when he'll start bugging. I don't know, Danny,
if you've got the six am one, When he starts
asking for guests, that's my personal favorite. It's like, Hey,
got anyone for tonight. It's like it's six am. I
Christmas Eve? If you got anybody to come on tonight?
Are you? By the way, we're working on did you
know that you need New Year's Eve? You mean New
(32:23):
Year's Eve. Yeah, New Year's Eve. I'm gonna start working
Christmas Eve, and I work every night but two nights,
so I'm yeah. Arnie already sent the text about guests
for that. He's shut up. I hate you, hey, but
first of all, Ibody invited the Christmas parties but me so,
Cavino and Rich now have a Christmas party another party
that I'm not invited to. So someone's gotta work. Bro,
(32:45):
you're not gonna come here. Why do you complain I'm
come about telling that you're not gonna do. I'm coming
out in four weeks, okay, so one thing supposed to
put the Christmas party back four weeks? Seriously, God, I
wish you were coming when I was in Which shows
are you feeling in on, Arnie? So everyone can start
planning their Christmas parties around your show. Jason Smith in
my carmon every night, so from the two days, maybe
(33:07):
ask your question if you have to decide right now
the show's tonight, right now, you want Lamar Jackson with
a new five year, tw hundred million dollar contract, are
you gonna take Unley Lamar Jackson? No, you made the
wrong decision. I just listen. He's got the body of work.
Maybe Huntley ends up being a stud, and the Ravens
would have a much better idea of that because they
(33:29):
see him every day in practice. But you're telling me
you're gonna hit your wagon to a guy that's had
what two starts now and played one half. I'm just
gonna give away a free two hundred million dollars to
an m v P to a team that's not gonna
win in the playoffs. Again, Well again, you it's an
m v P quarterback. They're not handing those does not
(33:50):
look like an m v P type quarterback is last one.
I don't think he's been He hasn't been healthy. I
think that you're looking at a situation, are you, So
you're ready to punt on Lamar Jackson and give Huntley
the keys to the that you If it was not
only that, if everything was equal, I'd give it to
Lamar Jackson. But it's not. It's a five year, two
hundred million dollar plus contract or whatever I'm gonna have
(34:11):
to give Hunley in his contract that it's gonna be
a hell of a lot less. So you tell me,
what do you think I'm gonna do. I don't think
you risk punting on a Hall of Fame quarterback. Arnie,
that's the going rain for quarterbacks anymore. I think you're
over two tonight. I think that I know, right, How
dare I not bury in Tom Brady's career because they
had a bad night? Now you want to give more?
(34:33):
People agree with me that's that that they'd go with
Hunley over Jackson, especially based that they're gonna save a
lot of money and they could do other things with
with the with the money in the contracts, but at
some point, inevitably, you've got to pay a quarterback. Listen,
I don't know where the Hall of Fame quarterback machine
is outside of Green Bay, where you've had thirty years
(34:55):
of back to back Hall of Fame quarterbacks. But Arnie,
I mean, let's face it, Baltimore got pretty lucky in
landing Lamar Jackson thirty second pick in the first round,
got an offense it fits him pretty well. I don't
think I'm tempting luck by saying, well, you know, the
sunny guys looking pretty good. Uh, let's put on Lamar
Jackson because we're gonna have to pay him, because you know,
(35:15):
I mean, you're telling me Pittsburgh wouldn't pay to bring
that guy into replace Ben Roethlisberger. I'm not not saying
another one person's uh trash is not another person's treasure.
I'm I'm not telling you something like that. Look at
just look at Tannehill for the Dolphins and then what
he did that say. But I'm telling you, I don't
think I could spend a five year, two million dollar
plus contract on Lamar Jackson. I've seen over the last
(35:37):
year plus. I think I think I might have to
go in a different directions if I could save a
boatload of money and improve another in other areas. Yeah,
it was. It was a hell of a performance. It
was just fantastic. Ready to send Lamar Jackson packing because
of what I've seen the last couple of times. If
you think about going for the two points now they
went for two points twice twice for for for two otherwise, uh,
(36:00):
even if they go fifty fifty there what a nine
and five team not eight and six team. I mean,
who was on the call was Detroit, but he knew
right away they were gonna go for two points, um,
even before they scored the touchdown. But uh, guts call hey,
because there was forty two seconds left when you don't
make that game over. If you kick the extra point, uh,
(36:20):
it still gives uh Aaron Rodgers of forty two seconds.
But you know, you you miss it or you make it,
you still give him forty two seconds to win the game.
So here's the Artie. They've lost three straight the Braven's
wrap up with the Bengals and Sinci, the Rams at
home and the Skillers. I mean, they could easily drop
(36:41):
two of those three games, and you might find yourself
just scratching and clawed to get in the playoffs at
nine and eight. They're not in the playoffs now, No,
they're not, and they're not gonna make the playoffs unless
they win ten games. When we come back on the
Fox Football Sunday, let's dive into your Twitter reaction. Bertie
Fratto live from Vegas, coming up next hour right here
on Fox Sports Radio. Watching the highlights here on the
(37:05):
Fox Football Sunday of the end of the Titans Steelers game.
That was a general spot and they still didn't make it.
But the way I wanted to give all kinds of
credit to to the Tennessee Titans who tried to rush
up to the line of scrimmage and get this snap off,
which was fantastic, I mean absolutely fantastic. If you missed
(37:28):
the call, here was the call on the Pittsburgh Steelers
radio network where basically confusion and chaos reigned Supreme Tannahil
Rex title fourth down and seven, he gets us tap,
he's back. He throws a pass and at pum in
and that's gonna be a tackle? Is it short of
that lead stick? He needed seven? And if it's at
(37:49):
the ten, it's only a six yard game up. Apparently
they're gonna rule first and goal nine seconds. No way, No,
he didn't make that postdown marker. Well, they're gonna they're
gonna talk it over. There's no way he made that
first down marker. It's not even close. Is their space?
Let's answer the question. Bradley Rogers between the nose and
(38:11):
the ball and the leads ticks. No overa down the
Steelers radio network. But a great call. But I was
listening to the Titans radio network. I was, I was
driving out. They were. They were confused as well. I
mean they literally blessed their hearts. I mean both. It's
(38:31):
a tough spot because the Titans guy was so fired up.
He's like, he got the first down. Now they're over
the ball. They go, wait, hold on, wait what the
analyts was like, first down here? Like, what's going on?
He must not have been watching on the monitors. It
was tough to to see. If you know what, if
you're just watching the field, you didn't know if he
got the first down or not. He was absolutely short.
(38:53):
So I gotta ask who has the right to be
more frustrated tonight? A Titans fan who watched their team
turn the ball over three consecutive series and lose when
they had no business losing. Our Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan
who got shut out at home. Kind of tough on
that one. Tampa fans. Tennessee was at least on the
road right, so at least they had that going for him.
(39:14):
By the way, one of the notes to help wrap
up our one, because it was the first shutout for
Tom Brady since two thousand and six. It was Week
sixteen of two thousand and six. Brady was twenty nine
years old. Uh, they actually lost that season. If you
were trying to go with the well, what happened that year?
What happened after the shutout? While they went to the
(39:36):
sc Championship game lost to the Colts, right, Um, Arnie,
Do you know who beat them on that day in
Week fifteen? The Miami Dolphins. It was your Miami Dolphins.
And here's a little bit more of trivia on it.
Do you know who the starting quarterback was for the
Miami Dolphins on that day in two thousand and six? Um,
(39:58):
I'll give you even a better hint. Think Dank Pack twelve,
all right, that time? Pack ten, pack ten? Yeah, jeez.
For the Dolphins, it was your boy, Joey Harrington. Yes,
it was a Jets quarterback. I didn't even remember him
(40:18):
as a Dolphin quarterback. Joey Harrington through for a hundred
and ninety yards on that day to kind of give
you an idea of of how good Tom Brady has
consistently been the leading rusher for Miami that day was
Sammy Morris, who ran for a hundred and twenty three
yards and a touchdown on twenty five carries. Also getting
(40:42):
a couple carries in that game was Florida State legend
Travis Minor, who was still in the game. The leading
receiver for New England that day was Troy Brown, and
I had completely forgot about this dude, But every so
often you would have a Marty Booker signing out of
so I guess the point that we're bringing up is Arnie. Oh.
(41:04):
By the way, leading tackler for the Dolphins are for
the Patriots that day was Teddy bruce Ki. To give
you an idea of how long it's been, it's it's
a hell of a run, right, I mean, it really
truly is. So as you said, this just means the
end is near for Tom Brady. Right, ball game? All right?
When we come back in our number two, we're gonna
head to Vegas and talk to Bernie Fratto. Plus what
(41:27):
we learned after week fifteen is next our to Fox
Football Sun that spend here, I'm Chris planking time for
T T W A P. I just noticed you must
be watching. You must be watching the Dolphin highlights by
your boy Wilkins jumping into the stands was fantastic. It's
a great game. That was the game of the week.
(41:49):
I mean Chargers Chiefs was pretty good. Um, but again,
if you're six and two of doesn't throw a pick six,
it my have been a little bit. Do you know
if I'd bet a hundred dollars on that prediction, i'd
have a billion dollars a billion close to it. Can
you here's a question if we'll have to ask Bernie
(42:11):
what those odds would look like. But would you go
ahead at that at this point and write it or
would you be willing to What can you do? Like
someone you could get a I don't determined in settlement,
but someone might buy your ticket from you from a
certain amount. Would you cash out earlier if I can.
If I can get seven figures, I'm cashing out. I
(42:32):
don't think it would be a seven figure deal. And
you have to admit, well, it's not complete yet. In fact,
with that way that thing started, I was kind of
worried there for you, with the way things were looking.
They'll beat the Saints, no problem with the Saints, and
they'll beat Tennessee. It will all come down to the Patriot.
Did you watch the Saints tonight and at all? They
(42:53):
don't scare me at all? That? Well? I thought, okay,
then you were the one that wanted to taste him Hill.
He's your buck star. So now that doesn't scare you
at all? No, not at all. I'm ready to roll.
Let's do it all right, Well, listen, to what we trust.
It's two a time. I didn't happen to check your
twitter feed. Did you want him benched after the pick six?
(43:15):
Or were you giving up? Busted out? And I go,
what the hell are you doing? What is wrong with you?
I go, seriously, we're up by seven points and you
have to throw an interception and it's a pig six
and it ties the game up late to gain What
is wrong with you? Yeah? And uh, it was not good.
But you know what, I'll give him credit on he
because what did he do? He went right back down
(43:35):
the field and they did this from the Jets eleven
yard pot empty back your tour touchbowl. What I want?
Parker on a puff pattern gets it sid for the
touchdown the very loud Miami Defense radio, So I knew
that was gonna go ahead and and you know, be
(43:56):
uh take its toll on the offense, though they did
have thirty one points on the board. So the Dolphins
win today, as you mentioned, make it sixth straight. They're
currently seven and seven. By the way, seven and seven
is a game out of the playoffs right now, Arnie.
It's not as if there's and listen, there's a lot
of a and six teams in the a f C
West or the f C period. But there's not a
(44:17):
lot of teams who you've watched them, like, wow, they're awesome.
I mean, the Bills didn't look awesome today. Eight teams
are fighting it out for the last three spots. They're
all separated by one game. That's awesome. And eight kid
could get dice here tomorrow night with the Brown Browns
and the Raiders. Um, so next week, for sure we'll
start to separate. Next week, Um, when a lot of
the teams play each other. The you know, the the six, seven,
(44:39):
and eights will be playing, uh, you know other teams
like that. Yeah, and you have some interesting games just
from a playoff positioning perspective, where you know, the Browns
play the Packers in Green Bay, Indianapolis has to go
to Arizona. Uh, big game is Ravens Bengals next week.
Doesn't get bigger than that one. Right, Adrian's Bills Patriots
(45:02):
Bills is probably for the division. Right, I'm not even
true who to root for in that game if I'm
a Dolphin fan. Um, and then gosh, I mean this
sounds crazy, but I mean it's pretty much clinched. But
the Dallas Cowboys can officially clinch the NFC East right
where they win on Sunday Night over the Washington football
team next week. And oh my gosh, aren't your Dolphins
are Monday Night football next week against against the Saints.
(45:24):
That it's all gonna come down to that. Uh, Steelers
gonna save their season today and then they'll play the
Chiefs on the road next week. Also, that's a humongous game.
And your Raiders. I'm still trying to figure out who's
playing the two games on Monday in the two on
Tuesday before I started thinking about them. You know, well,
it's uh. I think the NFL made the right call.
(45:45):
I really do. But if if they made that right
call and it was part and parcel to get J. C.
Chedder and the NFL p A to change their stance
on daily testing and things of that issue, then there's
a big problem here, and I know I'm don't understand.
In other words, the head of the NFL Players Association
(46:07):
is the center for the Browns. And there are some
that are speculated and not like black Helicopter conspiracy theorist
guys like Victa for their right for the athletic that
the NFL bent the need of the players here in
order as kind of a solid to the Browns and
then in that Washington and what the Rams. But they
did so with the understanding that, Okay, we're not postponing
(46:29):
any more games. That's it, this is all we're doing.
We'll postpone these three and now you have to either
accept less testing for unvaccinated players and things of that nature,
so that there is a belief that this postponement was
all right, listen, we'll do this. We got in and
again we're not having to dig two deep here into
(46:51):
this arty. But it's just if that's the case, I
can be angry, but we have to do three games
though to make their point. Well, I think it was
just the three teams that were just devastated by COVID
this week, right, Washington and Cleveland were down to not
having a quarterback, and I think the Rams were without
what like six members of their defense. So again I understand,
(47:12):
I get it. I'm just very very angry because when
the Raiders had a COVID outbreak last year, they moved
their game up. The Broncos had to play with an
eighteenth string quarterback. Now I had almost missed the Sholton
that I was going to play for the Brooklyn Nets. Well,
well they've been post funny games left and right. In
the end are the protocol. The only player that might
be able to play is Kyrie. He's well, but he's
(47:36):
but again he's just because he has to have that
but seven day period as an unvaccinated player whenever they
activate him. But no. The thing that's interesting to me
in all of this is it's hard to compare it
to anything last year, right, It really truly is, because
there was so much unknown and what did we find
out about the Broncos That they were willfully breaking rules
(47:57):
and they had set up all of their tracking devices,
they weren't wearing them. So again, I think it's hard
to compare these three games being moved to last year.
But I'm I'll you know what you want me to
make you a guarantee. I'll make you a guarantee tonight.
I'll put it right up there with what you're guaranteeing
that the Ravens are moving on from Lamar Jackson, and
you're guaranteeing that Tom Brady's career is over. It's the
(48:19):
last games you're gonna see moved this year period period.
That's it. They won't do it again. And I think
the NFL they were the Super Bowl out of California. Dude,
that would have been hilarious. But let's roll through the
schedule today. I don't want to get bogged down on this.
We got plenty of time tonight, but you brought up
the Dolphins. We talked about their win over the jetson
I mentioned the Bills already not overly impressive, but a
(48:42):
much needed win for the Bills against a Panthers team,
which listen, I'll go ahead and give away one of
my top of the hours from the next hour after
Week fifteen, I know this. I really wanted to see
a Carolina Panthers player try to kick today. Did you
see them in pregame after Zane Gonzalez got yes, I
saw a couple of the high wides where they had
two different guys kicking and wasn't even close. You know,
(49:02):
they all of a sudden, everyone on Twitter drops all
their information like ah, p J. Walker was a high
school kicker, and then you watch him kick, You're like, bro,
what what high school did he go to where someone
needed him to kick? Holy smokes? So Bills win much
needed win for the Bills. It sets up that battle
with the Patriots loss on Saturday already for first place
(49:23):
in the NFC East. That's gonna be fun next week,
you know. And now you look at the final score
there and think they dominated. He didn't very good Panthers
team at all. You know what I mean? That? Look
the Bills one, that's all they really had to do.
But wait till they have to play somebody good. I'm
I'm curious to see how that's scoring to work out
for I think they're gonna lose next week, and I
think they're gonna be on the struggle bus. They'll be
fine next week. They're not making the playoffs. It's gonna
(49:45):
be tough. Okay. I'm still trying to figure out how
the Lions did that to the Cardinals today. Thirty to
twelve was the final And this sounds crazy to say,
but here we go. That's not indicative of how big
of a blow out this game actually was. It was bad.
And if I'm a Cardinal fran Uh fan, I'm panicking
right now. Well, you knew that the Cardinals were stuck
(50:06):
a little bit, and of course Deandres out, so he's
gonna be gone for the rest of the year, but
that shouldn't bog them down the way it is right now.
Murray just doesn't look like the same quarterback he was
at the beginning of the year. And the Lions, rid
you not a bad team. I you know, they came
close a couple of times before they finally broke through
to night. You have like about four wins. They should
they absolutely should. All right, we talked Jets, Dolphins, let's talk.
(50:29):
We haven't mentioned the Cowboys yet tonight. And it wasn't pretty. No,
it wasn't, but it didn't need to be. Though. Do
we still have concerns about Dak Prescott slump? Is that
what you're asking? Yeah? I mean, listen, he only had
nine in completion today. They leaned heavy on the path.
How do you have eight completions in two seventeen yards?
(50:49):
They're dumping down man, everything that's that's possible. I don't know,
that's like it's like twenty eight completions for twenty eight yards,
Like you gotta have more than that. Come on, now,
Their longest as play of the day was nineteen yards.
That's not Dallas and a Marii Cooper targeted just five
times two catches for eight yards. That's good enough to
win the NFC East, but that's not good enough in
(51:11):
the playoffs. We talked a little Steelers Titans. What do
we even need to get into that mess that's been
the Jaguars this week? They lose to the Texans thirty
eight to sixteen. I mean, the score this game is irrelevant, Arnie.
The mess that has been made of that front office,
unfortunately by urban Meyer. That's the big story that permeated
throughout today. Right, Well, we obviously got to bring this up.
(51:32):
That's look. First of all, yes, I thought that the Jaguars, uh,
we're gonna be a nine win team, or could be
a nine win team. I had really high hopes for them,
and I thought urban Meyer was gonna do a much
better job. Um totally wrong about the Jaguars. Let's go
ahead and start that worse. Completely wrong about urban Meyer
(51:53):
though I didn't expect him to be the best. The
attitude's got to go, Chris. You can't have an attitude
like that when you're going into the NFL. I don't
like that they're trying to fire him with cause because
the owner, um Mr Conn He's got more money than
everybody in the world put together. So this isn't about money.
(52:15):
It's about power and saying, you know, I don't like
what you've done. So I think this is a power play.
I think I think the guy should get his money.
But the big question is was that was that wrong
about Trevor Lawrence? Also, and I know the show's tonight,
um or is it still way through it? It's all
about him way too early now in my opinion, in
my opinion, And I don't think, well, you never wow,
it's all year long though, because he you know, we
(52:37):
never came on there and go, wow, did you see
what Trevor Lawrence? Did? You know? He hasn't done that
since the preseason. He had one really good throw in
the preseason. So we got more on urban to get
too later in the show this, I have this this
timeline of dysfunction that we need to go through Karni,
which is fantastic all right, Beingals broncos Um. Everything seems
to be okay with Teddy Bridgewater. That was scary looking
(53:01):
for a guy that's battled some injuries. The Bengals, though,
suddenly find themselves in a pretty spot, not just for
the playoffs, schedule though the rest of the way for
the division, tough schedule, the rest of the way for
the Bengals. Not a great offensive game for them. Borrow
fifteen and twenty two, I think is what he was
(53:21):
so enough to get by in this one. I didn't
think they were gonna pull it out. Denver had a
couple of chances to go ahead and get that lead. Score. Uh,
They've got coming up the Ravens, the Chiefs, and on
the road at Cleveland. That is a That's the hardest
schedule for out of those seven or eight teams that
are one game separated for that last two or three
(53:41):
playoffs spots. That's that's murderous, Chris, absolutely stuff. Now the
opposite could be said as we continue to talk about
some of the afternoon games for the San Francisco forty Niners,
who want today to improve to eight and six. They
go to Tennessee next week and that's pretty tough, but
they get the Texans at home, and then they travel
to play the Rams in the final week of the
(54:03):
season and suddenly suddenly aren't with Garoppolo rolling with their
running game cooking. I mean, the Niners look like a team.
I sure as hell I wouldn't want to see in
the first round of the playoffs. You know, like, you
have a friend in in like junior high or high school,
and he's been like, you're like, all of a sudden,
you're you're better, You're you're close friends with him, and
(54:24):
then he starts asking, so, what's what's your sister doing
this week? What's your sister? What Jimmy Garoppolo doing? How
many people are like, hey, maybe we should be calling
this team for Jimmy Garoppolo because he's looking pretty damn
But look what he's Look what he's got with the
forty Niners going on, and look day the forty Niners
(54:44):
already gonna be married to somebody else, um after the years.
So but he makes so much money, that's the problem, Chris.
How many people want to take on that type of contract?
Get him, renegotiate the deal. Those numbers aren't he talking
about today? For Jimmy g eighteen thirty five yards a
touchdown Niners when at thirteen two other games here quickly,
(55:05):
Packers thirty one, Ravens thirty great maybe the game of
the day. And then of course tonight Saints shut out
the Buccaneers nine zip we'll talk about it all coming
up on a busy Sunday night as we recap week
fifteen with Bertie Fratto next here on a Fox Football Sunday.
All right, let's roll Arnie and plank on the Fox
Football Sunday pump, to be joined right now Byron Man
(55:28):
in Vegas. Bernie Fratto is in the house, and Bernie,
it's always fun when we get a chance to chop
it up with you. But I'm curious what was today
like for the books? Good day, bad day? Because I
know last week was tough, right, yes, when they crossed
the armers. It looks like it's gonna be a pretty
good day for the books, obviously, because so many dogs
(55:49):
not only covered, they Wy not right, Houston wy not right, Detroit,
the Bengals, the Saints, and the Ravens and Jets both
covered as dogs in the ray. Even's only lost by one,
which probably busted up a lot of teasers. So this
was the opposite of last week, which Sunday night this
time last week looked like it was going to be
(56:10):
the worst uh day for the of the year for
the books because favorites one, eleven, and three and the
most popular dog was Baltimore. They were getting three against Cleveland,
as you could call, they lost, but they covered. And
so when a public dog covers, that's bad for the books.
But when they crunched the numbers the next couple of days,
the books that we didn't lose that much money for
(56:30):
one simple reason. This time of year, folks spend a
little money on their Christmas shopping along with their betting.
So why the ticket numbers are still high? The handle
was down to the books were spared, Bernie, before we
get deeper to the NFL. Anybody betting these Bologna college
ball games out there or what? Well, it all comes
down to one word. First of all, if it's on TV,
come on, you could have female full contact karate with
(56:52):
two blind people. They'll bet it right. Look, yes, there'll
be a decent size handle. And all the ball games
comes down to one word, motivation if you can just
do a little research. And Friday was the poster child
for that. Yet a Northern Illinois team catching ten and
a half, they were super motivated for the game. Why
they were winless in they come back this season to
(57:13):
win a conference title, first team in college football history
to go winless year before then win your conference. They
actually won six games outright as an underdog this season. Meanwhile,
Coastal Carolina was the only school in this entire Bowl
tournament not to cover the spread against a single Bowl opponent.
Not only that, after Carolina Coast to Carolina lost to
(57:33):
app State in Georgia State, they weren't the same that
had aspirations about playing in a much bigger ball game.
They were laying ten and a half. They won by six,
but the more motivated team got the money. That's what
you look for. One other thing, there's a really strong
sixty bull trend. When a top ten running team faces
a team who's not a top ten running team in
rushing the proper every dund sea department they cover sixty
(57:57):
of the time since two thousand. Why because the average
span between your final regular season game and the ball
game is twenty four days. Passing attacks they get a
little rusty, quicker, but and they lose their timing but
running but you know, running attacks keep their rhythm. Three
teams fall into that category Georgia State, Air Force and Army.
(58:18):
I knew you, I knew it well. The Military bowls
always give a good effort in bull games and Armies
actually laying three and a half against Missouri. I think
they run all over Missouri. Missouri is not gonna know
what they're looking at with that triple option. Yeah, and listen,
I could talk about the frustration of trying to cover
a ball game when you don't even know who's gonna
play right because of opt outs. I'm getting ready to
(58:39):
head to San Antonio a week from my guests today,
and we don't even I mean, we got two coaches
that are in hims and obviously got a legend in
Bob Stoops. You got an interim out of Oregon. I mean,
and that's the case in a lot of places, Bernie,
how frustrating is it to try to handicap some of
these games? Spot on, Chris, and that's the game you
just kind of enjoy with your favorite beverage. I don't
(58:59):
think you can find your This is one of those
situations where if the pros can get some kind of
inside information, maybe they'll fire. These are the games that
actually worry the books as much as they worry the
pros because they don't know anymore either. But for me,
it's a game I just sit back and enjoy. You're right,
because you can't handicap a game like that because there's
too many unknowns, you know, Bertie, I was looking at
(59:20):
some of the early lines for next week and one
that sticks out for me, and I'm like, oh, I
gotta love this one. The Patriots only one and a
half point favorite at home against the Buffalo Bills. I
how could you not love the Patriots and Belichick at home,
and believe it or not, the early money's come in
on Buffalo, it's already a pick. Now. I don't trust
the Bills. I think Bill Belichick coming off a loss
(59:42):
and against the numbers. So that's a game I'd stay
away from. But next week, like this week, a lot
of double digit lines, a lot of games that are
de factol playoff games are still only four teams eliminated,
and you never know, you know, you look at that
game tonight, right, I saw the Brady game, and look,
in my opinion, there's no such thing is a good loss.
That's kind of like a good kidney stone. But I
(01:00:02):
would generally remind everybody that last year Tampa Bay was
seven and five, people thought Arians and Brady needed to divorce.
Somebody wouldn't be back this year. Since then, before tonight
they were seventeen and three. I got a feeling after
tonight's game, this is a game that a light of
fire under there took us and you might see Tampa
Bay back in the Super Bowl. Well look at you, Arnie,
you're looking ahead to next week, Bertie. I'm more intrigued
(01:00:24):
by Tomorrow night and Tuesday. Doublehead of Monday, doublehead of Tuesday.
I mean, do you really worry about the effect this
is gonna have on Cleveland? The Rams and who am
I leaving out here that also had some COVID Washington? Yeah,
well I don't care about that money like you might
care about the teams that have been affected by COVID
right now, absolutely, particularly Washington. Rumor has it uh Sonny
(01:00:47):
Jorgenson walked in on a walker he may start a
quarterback for the Reds games Tuesday night. You just don't
know what to do about that. And they're they're catching
four and a half from the Eagles. That's probably a
stay away. You got a healthy Raiders team heading into
Cleveland tomorrow that will play about as desperate as a
team can play. I think the Rams laying a boatload
against Seattle Tuesday could be a bit of a bundle.
(01:01:09):
The Rams are currently the number five seed, and these
are all sort of the factory playoff games now and then,
of course you got the Vikings on the Bears, the
Vikings on Monday Night football. You scratch your head. They're
only one and eleven against the number and their last
twelve appearances on the road on Monday Night football. None
of these four games I honestly feel very good about.
Will you get a lot of movement on these games?
(01:01:29):
Will you see the Vikings minus seven instead of six
and a half because of the late Monday night game
after the Raiders Browns? Not necessarily, because the Vikings are
not a public team. They're not. Remember, they're on the road.
You you're you're taking a hothouse team, putting them on
the road and nicey cold Chicago and bad conditions, and
you know, the Bearers would just love to pee all
over their parade. And I in these situations, for whatever,
(01:01:53):
Mike Zimmer and his team, they play just well enough
to lose. So to go into Chicago in a divisional
game on Monday night and have to win and win
by margin, no thanks, I'll pass all right. A couple more.
I'll let you get out of here, Bernie Fratto. You
hear him weekend, straight out of Vegas here on Fox
Sports Radio Saturday night into the overnight. The man never sleeps.
So with that in mind, who are you more concerned
(01:02:16):
with right now? Are you more concerned with the Ravens
or the Titans in the a f C. Bernie, I
would say definitely the Ravens because without Lamar Jackson you're
just simply not going to solve that puzzle. Offensively, they're
very challenge. They gave a great effort today, but before
today they had been notoriously slow starters. They've gone seven
(01:02:36):
straight games without even scoring a touchdown in the first quarter.
Herculean effort today, I give him top credit, but they
look like a team that's a helicopter that needs twenty
miles of gas to get to their destination and they
only got a buy seventeen miles worth of gas. I'm
hearing that Derrick Henry is gonna be back sooner rather
than later. I like the way I just like the
way tennessee. I like the cut of their jib. I
(01:02:58):
like Mike Vrabel. I think Iran Tanny Hills better. Their
defense isn't great, but I think Tennessee and a pinch
is one of those teams that has a certain DNA
that will show up when it matters most their home
next week Thursday night, catching three against the Titans. I
can tell you December games are very tough for road teams.
(01:03:19):
Niners gotta go across country. You might like the Titans
in this spot next Thursday to get the ship right,
Bernie any value um if you want to bet the
Super Bowl a f C, NFC kind of like the
long shots, maybe the Rams or San Francisco out of
the NFC, maybe the Dolphins out of the a f C.
With the role that they're on. Well, the the Niners
are very dangerous at thirty five to one. If you
(01:03:41):
if you're so inclined, you you know you could take
a flyer, aren't you believe it or not? Your Dolphins
are still a cool two hundred and fifty two one.
If you're feeling saucy, hundred hundred dollars would bring you
back twenty five thousand, and I heard you guys talking.
If you're holding a ticket and you want to hedge
or you want to lock in profit, Let's say you've
got something you put a hundred dollars down and all
(01:04:03):
of a sudden, it's this late in the year and
you say, well, if this goes the distance, I can
make fifty grand. Well you can put it up for
auction on a company here called prop Swap. It's like, yeah,
so you know about that, and somebody would buy that
take and they may say, Ernie, I'll tell you what,
I'll give you eight thousand dollars for it. That's not
a bad return on your money. Or you could had
you can go back the other way. I always believe
(01:04:24):
in locking in profits. But to each his own. It's
whatever you can live with if you don't get the
result you want. But Bertie I said the Dolphins we're
gonna win nine games in a row when they were
one in seven. Nobody in the platted said something like that, Absolutely,
Ernie I. The whole world's buzzing about it, best I
can tell. And if you just played a mechanical parley
of about a hundred dollars per games, since the Dolphins
(01:04:45):
were an underdog and most of those games, although God forbid,
believe it or not, they were a ten point favorite
today against the Jets, uh, you would have probably you know,
nine in a row. Will they stop three more to
get to that? That's not gonna be so easy. But yeah,
you probably would have made well into six figures. So
and by the way, it hasn't actually happened yet, So
listen Bernie. Have a great week, buddy. We appreciate your
(01:05:08):
time and as always, can't wait to listen to you
next Saturday night. Happy holidays, guys, thanks for having me
to buddy, have a great holiday week. All right, when
we come back, I am I'm hearing the buzz everywhere.
Let's hit some tweets. I've ignored it for too long.
But first Steve to Seger in the house and get
us caught up on everything in the world of sports.
What's going on? Steve Well, I was wondering if NBC
(01:05:28):
was at halftime, thinking can we flex out this game now?
Is possible? Eventually? The final was New Orleans nine, Tampa
Bay nothing. We've had some low scorers this weekend. Well,
first off, any Giants game has the potential for being
a low scoring game, but there was also the Cincinnati
game today. They were up nine three late in the
third quarter at Denver, and then this with New Orleans
(01:05:50):
tonight eight p points out and granted we've we're not
done with the NFL week. We've got two games tomorrow,
two games on Tuesday, but for the moment that combined
points per game is is at forty one per contest.
That would be the lowest for an NFL week of
the last two and a half years. If it stays
at that. We've got games involving uh Washington at Philadelphia,
(01:06:11):
for example, or Minnesota at Chicago. Who knows how high
scoring those will be. We'll get to those in fifteen minutes.
The can update the playoffs standing. We mentioned earlier that
Green Bay's alone for the one seed for the moment
in the NFC, a game ahead of three other teams,
including Tampa Bay, which fell to ten and four, But
the Saints for the moment have the seventh and final
(01:06:33):
playoffs spots since they're up to seven and seven. However,
Minnesota with a win Tomorrow night would be seven and seven.
Washington with a win on Tuesday night would move up
to seven and seven. The game tonight, that's nine nothing
Saints victory was a game with no touchdowns and it
combined seventeen punts Saints with field goals or not. The
(01:06:55):
Saints offense had thirteen drives and only eleven first down.
They had more dry been first downs in the whole game.
But then there's Cam Jordan, he forced to fumble, He
had two sacks of Tom Brady as well. Marquess Callaway
six receptions a hundred twelve yards. One positive for the
Bucks is that Lavante David is still good. A forced
fumble and he let everyone in tackles with eleven but
(01:07:17):
my goodness, And it wasn't just the injuries. If you
saw the game, they were just Tampa. It was just bad.
They lost the two wide receivers in the first half.
Mike Evans left with a hamstring injury, did not return.
He had one hole catch, but Chris Godwin wound up
before he left with six receptions for nearly fifty yards.
He left with a knee injury in the first half.
Called a spring mcl how many fantasy playoffs were lost
(01:07:40):
with this game tonight with no offense at Tampa Bay
second half injury for running back Leonard four Natty left
with a bad hamstring. Green Bay, meanwhile, clinched a division title,
went up to eleven and three with its one point
victory at Baltimore thirty as the Ravens missed a late
two point pass attempt. Cincinnati and San Francisco each one
Buffalo as well. Detroit twin was thirty to twelve over
(01:08:02):
Arizona Jared Goff with three touchdown passes. The Lions record
was one eleven and one until today. Craig Reynolds in
the backfield twenty six carries for Detroit a hundred twelve yards,
and last week in his team debut, on just eleven carries,
he had eighty three yards rushing. Miami won a six
straight game, four over the Jets on a touchdown pass
(01:08:24):
with about three and a half minutes to go. I
understand the woo, but that wasn't the flipper sound in
the Dolphins winning six in a round to a Togo
two touchdowns, two interceptions, including that Lake pick six. But
he's still a winning quarterback again. Pittsburgh came back to
beat Tennessee road wins for Dallas and Houston. The Rams
(01:08:45):
activated defensive back Jalen Ramsey. A college note, quarterback Bo
Nicks is transferring from Auburn to Oregon, joining a former
assistant coach of his. The next college football bowl game
is Old Dominion against Tulsa on Monday in Myrtle Beach,
South Carolina. The reminder of the college football semifinals are
on New Year's Eve. Number one Alabama will face Cincinnati
(01:09:08):
at Dallas and then from Miami. Number two Michigan against Georgia.
Did you not mention that you're working on New Year's Eve?
We are working together on New Year's Eve? Are finally
finally gave me a shift because he requests everyone else
to work with him but me until New Year's Yeah,
I finally they got deepen up down the depth charts show.
(01:09:29):
I know that feeling. The Holiday Bowl on Fox TV
will be December from San Diego, u C l A
against NC State. The NHL suspended border travel for a week,
so the l A Kings wanted Washington today three too,
but they're not going to play their game against the
Canadian opponent later this week. Today, the Red Wings became
the sixth NHL team to be shut down due to COVID,
(01:09:50):
and now Toronto is the seventh. For those keeping tab
The NBA had three of its games today postponed due
to health protocols, including Denver at Brooklyn. The Nets Tuesday
game was all so called off. Brooklyn's Kevin Durant had
health health protocols yesterday along with Kyrie Irving. That's had
ten players on their COVID list, including James Harden and
then that's earlier and decided to allow Kyrie to return.
(01:10:11):
He could only play in the road games for now.
Irving's an unvaccinated player, he would have to test daily
for COVID. Atlanta guard Trey Young entered COVID protocols. League wide,
over sixty NBA players have been added to the list
in the last six days. On the calves, five players
tested positive for the virus today, so their game against
Atlanta was postponed and Cleveland's won six in a row.
And how about this. USA Basketball will introduce its new
(01:10:34):
head coach, Steve Kerr officially tomorrow. Back to you, it's
a playing on a Fox Football Sunday. Bring up that?
Do you care about that college football note? Or no?
Which one? Which one? There's several going on the travel
reporting USC set the higher UH Texas A and M's
(01:10:55):
offensive line coach Josh Henson as the school's new off
pensive line coach. Good higher, really good higher. People in
the college football world. I know you don't care about
assistance and you don't make coordinators matter. That is a
really good higher for out of us. Yeah. No, And
and in fact, the bo Nicks moved Oregon. I think
it's a really good move for bo Nicks too, especially
(01:11:17):
considering how Oregon couldn't get anything going from its quarterback
whenever they lost in games to Utah this year and
Stanford for that matter. So yeah, I think the two
big college football stories tonight, the breaking news about Josh
Hanson moving on to be the offensive line coach at
USC got yourself. Good one USC. That's former Oklama State
Cowboy player and offensive line coach, had been crushing it
(01:11:40):
at Texas A and m USC couldn't get Bill beaton
Bow because he stayed at Oklahoma. Take that Lincoln rally.
But then Lincoln rally turns around. He gets one of
the best recruiters in a game to come work his
offensive line in California. So good get there. And I
do think bo Nick's going to Oregon is a really
good move. Real quick, We're brought to you by Discover.
If you're a valued to cut to mur you deserve

a simple one, and that's why I discovered matches. All

though Arizona finally got a top one hundred recruit. Congratulations
and not a big deal. I saw they were going
(01:12:24):
off to somebody else too that um uh, they were
looking at quarterback or something like that. So there's a
couple of them still out there on the on the
in the transfer portal. So look at Casey Thompson from Texas.
Uh is in the portal right now. That wouldn't surprise
me at all if he ended up at Nebraska's. So
the portal is crazy. Speaking of crazy, now we have
the numbers about the last time that Tom Brady was
(01:12:45):
shut out. It was back in two thousand and six
and it was week like ten. They got shut out
by the Miami Dolphins. It was the first time that
he had ever been shut out at home in his career. Wow.
And he's lost four straight against a single opponent for
the first time in his career. Tampa has lost four
(01:13:07):
straight against New Orleans. Also one other note. Courtesy of
ESPN Stats and Info, Tampa closed as an eleven and
a half point favorite, which is tied for the second
largest favorite to be shut out in the Super Bowl
era that since nineteen sixties, six had gone two d
and fifty five straight starts without being shut out. It
(01:13:28):
was the second longest streaked by a quarterback of all time.
He was also this is another crazy note, and I
don't know, I don't know who starts seeing these then realize, hey,
this might be something, But here we go. Tom Brady
was sacked four times on third down for the first
time since two thousand and two. It's tied for the
most sacks in a game in his career. Well done,
(01:13:50):
Dennis Allen. Well done New Orleans Week fifteen, two thousand
and six, December tenth to be exact, Tom Brady shut
out and a pair at least, career is over. According
to Arnie, a pretty big Monday night game next weekend
with the Dolphins and the Saints full team seven and seven.
That it's a huge game next morning. I mean, suddenly,
(01:14:14):
if you can get to five hundred in the a
f C or the NFC, and I know you've got
a bunch of teams trying to get there right now
Monday and Tuesday, not talking about the games tomorrow and
Tuesday called down. Um, but if you can get there,
you're in really good shape. Right You've got some teams
to jump over, but you've got a shot. And I think, um,
(01:14:34):
I think that's all you need said a couple of tweeks,
because that's what we're all about here. It's only even
playing on a Fox Football Sunday. The Sager's update in
depth coming up here in a bit. But I do
like this from k C slide. He writes, the Chiefs
were considered dead. Now the Chiefs were considered dead. Now
they're the only Tin win team and seem to be
(01:14:55):
playing their best ball while others like Arizona are crumbling.
Go cheat, I told you, yeah, they're playing better ball.
I don't know if they're playing their best ball, especially
after what they've done over the last couple of years.
They're the best team right now in the a f C.
There's no doubt about that. We'll see what the Titans
are when they get Henry Beck. But um, that doesn't
mean they're gonna be there at the end. It's so
wide open the n FC, But I guess I have
(01:15:17):
to agree with them. They they've won the most games
with the hardest strength of schedule. Nuts for sure, Mr
Nobody Rights, you have to consider the Steelers a playoff contender, right,
even though it may not be the best thing for them.
And I may not know this, but I feel confident
the Raiders still find a way to lose to the
shorthanded Browns. Oh, come on now, Danny g and I
(01:15:38):
have lived the Raider's life the last twenty I guarantee
you they could still find a way to lose tomorrow
against I need the Browns to lose that game. I
need the Raiders to win. Why do you need the
Browns to Losefins, Dolphins? You help the Dolphins, well you've
got I guess so it would help the Dolphins out.
But you have a head to head loss against the Raiders,
(01:16:00):
So even if you're seven and seven, the Raiders would
still get that tiebreaker. You're not sweeping the rest of
the games like we are, nor are your Dolphins. So
ships when we come back, got a lot of really
good tweets still to hit. We're just getting started there.

The Lakers lost at Chicago tonight, so the Lakers record
is sixty and fifteen and Chicago native Anthony Davis did
(01:17:03):
not plays out at least a month with a spring
to mc l As an opponent fell into his knee
on Friday, I realized it's really easy to say he's
injury prone, and I don't disagree that that might be true.
This particular injury does not prove that. It's kind of
like when remember when Carl Malone late in his career
was a Laker and someone fell on his leg and
he's old, he's gonna get it. Well, Okay, that might
(01:17:26):
be the case, but this isn't injury prone. Isn't why
he's out currently. Either way, the Lakers are around the five.
Marks still had twenty turnovers tonight and an l A
native beat them, Demarta Rosen with thirty eight points nineteen
and the fourth quarter. He was great on free throw
sixteen of seventeen. His opponent was not. The Bulls had
had a week off or so due to COVID issues.
(01:17:47):
The Lakers have six players in health protocols and head
coach Frank Vogel was out tonight as well. Bulls are
surprising eighteen and ten. The Sunday night NFL game had
New Orleans winning nine nothing at Tampa Bay, and the
Bucks did lose receivers Mike Evans and Chris god went
to first half injury. So Rob Gronkowski was targeted eleven
times and only had two catches two receptions for twenty
(01:18:11):
nine yards. So this Saints team is somehow seven and
seven this year. Week one, the folks at stats inc This.
I didn't even remember this now that they mentioned it. Yeah.
Week one, they beat Aaron Rodgers, held the Packers without
a touchdown. Tonight they beat Tom Brady, held the Bucks
without a touchdown. So yes, they're the first team ever
to face the reigning m v P and the reigning
(01:18:33):
Super Bowl m v P same season separate games and
they hold both without a touchdown. That is kind of incredible.
Oh's that why Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay now clinch
a division title. They're eleven and three. They have the
one seed in the NFC for now after the one
(01:18:54):
point win at Baltimore. By the way, the three t
d passes that ties Rogers would Brett Farb on Green
Bay's career list four forty two of them. Packers of
the first team to clinch a division crownd. They wrap
up the NFC North and coach Matt Lafleur of Green
Bay the third coach since nineteen seventies Merger to win
at least eleven games in each of his first three seasons.
(01:19:16):
Jim Rogers didn't like him. Yeah, that's right, They're never
gonna win there. Jim Harbaugh a decade ago did so
with San Francisco and three straight such years for Chuck
Begano with Indianapolis nearly a decade ago. Green Bay the
first team to get a playoff berth officially, and it's
the third straight division crown for Rogers and company. They've
won the NFC North nine of the last eleven seasons.
(01:19:39):
Texans rookie quarterback Davis Mills won for the first time
in eight NFL starts. I'm sure he's not a bad kid,
he just hadn't been a winning kid behind center. They
got to play at Jacksonville, Texans eighth straight victory head
to head against the Jaguars, by the way, so they
sweep the season series for a ninth time in the
(01:19:59):
last eleven years. Against the Jakes and the Texans, Tremont
Smith returned a kickoff ninety yards for the touchdown, Texans
first score on a kickoff returned since two thousand nine.
That was the longest current drought in the NFL, and
Jacksonville's Rishon Jakins broken ankle trying to make a tackle
on the return. You mentioned the injury to the Carolina kickers.
A Gonzalez had to be helped off injuring a quad
(01:20:21):
in warmups. And yes, it was comical the quick tryouts
they had before kickoff. So did you see without the
place kicker, they just went for two The two times
they get a touchdown, I noticed they were in field
goal range ones, they just went for Who cares if
it's not fourth and one. We don't have a kicker today.
Cam Newton has lost twelve straight starts in a Carolina
uniform going back years. Hasn't like Carolina at the victory
(01:20:43):
since November against Tampa Bay injury for the Giants. Wide
receiver Sterling Shepard done for the season, tore his left
achilles late in the loss to the Cowboys. Dallas rookie
linebacker Micah Parsons with his tenth interception. He did have
his sack streak stopped at six games, didn't get one
in the win over the Giants, but Nick Bosa San
Francisco had his fifteenth sack of the season and the
(01:21:05):
win over Atlanta, and this gives him sex in six
straight games. Cause the fumbl didn't even know it because
the crowd. By the way, speaking of fumbles, did you
see in the Tennessee loss it reminded me of Cam Newton.
There was a Tennessee fumble and Ryan Tannehill just didn't
go after it. It looked like a business decision. I mean, granted,
I wouldn't go after Cam Hayward either if it was
(01:21:28):
the two of us for a fifty fifty ball as
they say, but it just did remind me of postseason
with Cam Newton Tennessee blew a thirteen three halftime lead
loss nineteen at Pittsburgh. We all have business decisions to make, Steve,
we all when we come back on the Fox Football Sundays,
time for what we learned after Week fifteen and all
(01:21:48):
of your tweets coming up in a busy final hour,
He's Arnie Span, your im Chris Plank were breaking down
the National Football League from the locker room next on
Fox Sports Radio Final Hours. So much to get to.
I just I was rewatching the highlights of the Panther
kickers trying to work out before the game. Arnie Span
(01:22:11):
your do you think you could have kicked better than?
I don't know who all tried to bed Philip Walker.
P J. Walker was definitely the punter. Why can't the
punter do it? I mean it's a different skill set
stop it. It is artie breaking news. Punting is different
than kicking. I know that, But let's say I just
said to any average shortstop, uh, in Major League baseball,
(01:22:34):
we have nobody to put in the outfield, can you
play outfield for a couple of innings? I don't think
there'd be a problem there. You know, really, have you
seen some infielders trying to play the outfield? Well, I mean,
come on, you know, just like going back to when
you're a kid, Listen, there's absolutely right, But this is
the NFL. You're talking about needing a dude to boot
through an extra point, and Carolina had such a little
(01:22:56):
confidence in whomever else was on the roster. They it
for two of the both times both of the times
that they actually scored a touchdown. And by the way,
we haven't talked about it too much because, I mean,
listen to game doesn't deserve that much conversation. But it
wasn't as big of a blowout as the final score indicated,
not at all. I mean, there were several chances for
(01:23:17):
that game to be a little bit tighter. But I
don't know. I'm old enough to remember when Carolina was
like two and oh or maybe three and oh, and
everyone was on the Sam Donald his back and they're
just terrible. By the way, Well, I'm digging the double
Monday night. Um. I love the two on Tuesday, but
they're both starting at the same time, so that kind
(01:23:39):
of takes the fun away from and you don't get
it on every single network on Fox in every market. Yes, so, um,
I guess out here in Vermont will probably get Washington, Philadelphia.
Why would they not put them where we could watch
both games. I'm not trying to be an a hole,
(01:24:02):
but it's just listen, if we're moving the games to
another day, why not look at and say, all right,
well listen for a Fox right because both Foxes are there,
they're both the property of Fox Games. I assume let
Fox Sports one have one put in the afternoon. I know,
it's like, oh, it's a work day, is it. I mean,
(01:24:23):
it's it's a it's a holiday week. Why not put
one in the afternoon and put one at night? If yeah,
well the red zone for two channels. I mean, my
guys have enough hard, hard enough time filling three games
when they're bad in the afternoon, but already, I mean,
why why are they putting them both at the same time?
They switch games? Oh that would be great now, right,
(01:24:45):
We now take you over to the Vikings or the
Vikings and the Bears are Monday night football. We take
you over to Washington and in Philadelphia or Seattle and
the Rams. But yeah, I listen, we haven't spent a
lot of time on this show tonight with the why
behind the move. We don't care. I mean, we don't care.
We're just we're getting there. We're getting games there, We're
(01:25:05):
getting games. Look, just I guess we should bring it
up that they're gonna go ahead there, they're gonna go
and change the testing policy, and then that's the way
it probably should be. We we've got to move on
past this, and we've got to stop postponing games, so
that that's the next logical step there, Chris, I agree.
I agree, um, And I think that part of this
(01:25:25):
move this week with these three games had to do
with agreeing to the new testing policies. Yeah, but I mean,
all of a sudden didn't go through one problem, and
then all of a sudden this week everything got hit hard.
My head was spending up. I'm like, what's going on?
This guy can't play. This guy can't play the Brooklyn
Nuts can't play hockey, can't have people. I'm like, oh
my god, all of a sudden, within like a forty
(01:25:46):
eight hour period, all this was going down. Don't know. Um,
it's it's been very frustrating nationally to beyond just the
sports world, and the sports world to me is hockey, NBA, NFL,
even baseball whenever we were playing Major League baseball already,
that was the largest concentration of vaccinated people period. I
(01:26:07):
mean the numbers for the NFL, for college football, for baseball,
for hockey, it's ridiculously higher than anything as far as
the public numbers are. And yet they can't control it.
So that's a little bit problematic. But you know, good news.
We're gonna get the games in and I don't think
we'll have any other games in peril, at least that's
(01:26:30):
the way I feel. I remember, I think in the
beginning of the year, you could have been it will
game be postponed or canceled? Remember that? Or no? Well,
you and I had a big debate about the UH
because college was kind of steadfast, and we won't postpone
any games. You'll forfeit and you'll cancel, and you know,
I was kind of the mindset, well, what happens whenever
(01:26:51):
you have a fully vaccinated team that has an outbreak
and you were pretty staunching forfeit forfeit? Just I'm sorry
we're past this point, but I think everyone's kind of
soften that stance a little bit now, wouldn't you think,
I'm not sure what's gonna well, and and not to
go to a whole another direction, but the Pack twelve
and um, the cancelations, they're like Arizona bone the game.
(01:27:13):
But yet the U c l A game against the
Washington was a forfeit. So there's you know again, it's
it's tough to keep tracking what's going on? All right?
A couple of quick tweets, Let's hit him. Jason writes,
I really needed tonight, just a mental health day with
no Raider game and being able to listen to Arnie
and Plank. I'll tell you what this was. I had
(01:27:35):
so much fun today. I had the red Zone on Arnie.
We were doing holiday stuff in the house, wrapping gifts.
I sent you and Beth something to say thank you,
and Shay. So it was a big day around the
plank household. And you know what I did fun. I
wasn't nervous. I didn't have to worry about the Raiders.
I didn't stress drink. I mean, I'm sober on the
(01:27:56):
show tonight. It's a beautiful thing. Um So I've got
to find way to either a get the Raiders good
again or be have more money on a football games
for the Raiders tomorrow. Need the Raiders to come up
with a big VIC three tomorrow. Um mcalibert at that,
damn bear rights. I've mentioned it before, how the NFL
is week to week. The Ravens were once number one
(01:28:17):
in the a f C three straight losses later, and
now they fell out of the playoffs and the Raiders
were number one, and then say that. I was just
gonna say that the Raiders were, the Bengals were, the
um the Ravens were, and now it's just it's a
week to week league, man. And here's the here's the
crazy thing. It's a week to week league. But when
(01:28:38):
you start getting bad mojo, it's tough to stop it.
When you start getting good mojo, it's it's look what
the Dolphins are doing right now. I mean, you can
get you don't think they're gonna win their next three? No,
I don't think they're gonna win next week. Uh and one, wow,
how could you say that? Well, because again I think
it's a heck of a prediction that they've done this.
(01:29:00):
But six straight wins is pretty incredible, and I think
the Saints are kind of cooking right now. What's the
line in that game? I'm gonna try to figure that.
I think I'm guessing the Saints are probably gonna be
about a four and a half. And I was going
to say like a point and a half. Oh no,
get Addie here, what's wrong with you? I'm just sitting here.
Everyone's talking about your prediction. And so maybe it even
(01:29:21):
gets to Vegas, maybe Bertie got someone's here and it's
like already called this and there do you think i'd
be in Vegas? Do you think they would ban somebody? Like? Absolutely?
It's like, you know what, you're too good, You've got
the same figured out. I am worried about that because
I'm going out there in January. I don't want to
be banned. Yeah, I'm sure that they'll look at that
prediction of the five one season for the Patriots in
the nine one season for the Jaguars, and we got
(01:29:42):
to shut this too. They don't want to be playing blackjack.
I promise you that they because I have a system
in blackjack. Okay, I think everyone has a system and no,
but my system is My system is full proof. That's
why they don't like be gambling at their casinos. Okay, well,
good luck they. I don't bust in blackjack. So like,
(01:30:03):
you'll stay on twelve when the Dealers show, did I stutter?
So you play basically to make everyone at the table angry.
Sometimes I'll hit on twelve. Okay, don't make it that crazy,
and it's not steadfast rule, but um yeah, I don't bust.
So remember black jack's official sport on this show. Well
the way, these Saints are a three point favorite, see
(01:30:24):
not too not as big as you thought. Uh well,
watching movies is a sport. And we haven't even got
any Spider Man yet. Josh writes, do you think Jonathan
Taylor has officially put his name in the m v
P race? It was already officially in the m v
P race, was it not. I thought he was, like, what,
the second or third favorite out there behind Tom Brady
and I forget who else, So yeah, he was officially
(01:30:45):
in there. Um. You know, it's interesting because I I
always try to find fresh new odds for like m
v P and things of that nature, and for some reason,
all I ever find is like week old numbers for
the IV. It's crazy. But ESPN stats in Info had
an interesting timeline of how Tom Brady entered today minus
(01:31:09):
one eight and then after the game tonight was minus
one tin. Aaron Rodgers entered Sunday plus six hundred for
the m v P. Then after his game it was
plus two five. Wow, so six to one to two
and a half and a quarter to one while so yeah,
he started to close that gap a bit. Now, keep
in mind the schedule that's left for Tampa before we
(01:31:32):
even though you've already buried him, before we buried tom Brady.
Tampa's got Carolina, then the Jets, then Carolina again in
their final. How do you get that? I mean, you
can't even write that up yourself. It's it's it's pretty lucky.
I mean, let's just face it. With the way they
look tonight, Um, do you think I'm the only one
that's gonna be burying Tom Brady tomorrow? On all the
(01:31:54):
shows and Twitter and all that or what Arnie, they
buried tom Brady when he wins games. So I no,
I mean, I've watched Tom Brady throw for three hundred
yards in a game, and I'll turn on my team
ands and was like, well, it's obviously he's being carried
by his defense. I'm not here to try to tell
you that this is the same Tom Brady that you
(01:32:15):
saw in the you know, mid two thousand's. It's not.
And and he's got a great defensive Tampa. But listen,
I'm I'm gonna give him a pass for tonight, not
just with the injuries. But New Orleans has their number.
They can't figure him out. There are certain teams that
have teams numbers and it makes no sense. Well, Kansas
City having the Raiders numbers make sense, But um, like
(01:32:36):
New Orleans has Tampa Bay's number, it doesn't make it
one against him or something like that. They've won four straight.
They've won four straight against him. The only time they
suck against him is in the playoffs. That's four straight
regular season games. ROBERTA Rights, Uh, it's a no brainer.
Urban is just another coach who thought he'd make the
(01:32:56):
big bucks. By moving from college to the pros a
disaster from the get go, and so are coaches who
moved from pros to college. College coaches who switch. Let
me fish college coaches who switched, I think they're the
top dog, and they're not. You've not really given your
urban Meyer thoughts. For the most part, he thought it
was gonna be easy. That's what I think. I think
(01:33:19):
he came in and thought Urban's way was gonna be
the way that it goes. And what he said, what
he laid out, was gonna be the way that it went.
And he quickly realized, O s, I'm in over my
head and this isn't what I thought it was. I
honestly think it was arrogance, Arnie. Do you care about
the money? Listen, urban Meyer can name his price in
(01:33:42):
any college. No. No. Do do you care that they're
not paying out in the remainder of his contract? I
don't think that they have costs. I mean, and listen,
they can try to say that, but there's gonna be
lawyers involved, But I don't think they call the fact
that they're doing that. Let me tell you to go
through the lawyers. Is I'm be gonna cost more than
just pay it about for his contract. So this is
(01:34:03):
really um a power play. I mean, think about that.
Because they both have a lot of money. The owners
got more money than everybody put together. He could just say,
here's your damn money, go on your way. The fact
that he's gonna go through attorneys may cause to more,
but it's all about principal here. And obviously it was
worse than we thought. I mean, honestly, the the only
(01:34:23):
thing that Urban did that might have been a firable offense. Right, Well,
his team sucked, but back on September twelve was I'm sorry,
back on July one, they broke CBA rules and they
were fine. Remember they were find like a hundred thousand
dollars in July. Coaches were and the team was. But
but the the questionable higher of the strength coach, well
(01:34:48):
that was back in February when he did that. So
my point is, if you're trying to fire him for cause,
those are really the only two things that you can
look at it. What about the video? Well, Arnie, if
if guys are going to start getting fired for cause
because they're caught grinding on a woman they're not married to,
we're gonna have a lot of people that are out
(01:35:09):
of jobs in in all of pro sports. Okay, I
mean that's just the reality of it. That's not a
good it's a good look again, if that happens, and
if they win that case, then I think you're gonna
see a lot of people that are suddenly like, oh,
I'm gonna not pay you out. I agree there there
it's not. But that goes to show you the principle
(01:35:29):
here when there's really not cause. But yet they're gonna
pay more money to attorneys not to give it to
Urban Meyer. That's that's what I don't understand. Uh the
weed smoker, right, did Tom Brady consume some of that
eight hundred and fifty pound weed? Brownie? I agree that
the Brady regime is very rapidly declining. Good news, Arnie
at the Wheat Smoker five agrees with you. Tom Brady
(01:35:53):
almost over um and then one more here LJZ other way, Plank,
please tell Arnie that he should say no to drugs.
Saying TV twelve is done is like Arenie saying the
Patriots will only win five games this year and bringing
up Rob Parker, who has been struggling, just proves Arnie
needs a psychologist. Wow. Yeah, Parker is gonna be um
(01:36:16):
absolutely agreeing with me when it comes to tomorrow about
Nature Boy. One more Brady and his press conference will
go in there and blame the saga for the loss.
That would have been awesome, But now we got Tom
Brady sound coming up. When we come back, You're on
a Fox Football Sunday. He's already spanning you on. Chris Blank,
Bobbo run this show. Danny G's put it together. Steve
Disager has got an update coming up in fifteen minutes.
(01:36:37):
But when we come back after week fifteen, we know
this and we'll tell you next. On Fox Sports Radio,
Arnie and Plank on a Fox Football Sunday, Danny G
producing the show, Bobo all the Wheels of Steel, the
Sager on. Updates and as always, were brought to you
by Discover. Real credit card questions require real people, someone
(01:36:58):
who understands your issues and works to resolve them with you.
That's why I Discover offers helpful US based representatives available.
Discover exceptionally common sense. Um, so, out of curiosity, Arnie,
you got any big plans? I mean, I know you're
working a lot through the holidays, but any roadies, any trips, anything,
(01:37:19):
any more, family coming in town like you had a Thanksgiving. No,
my my son's coming home. But I'm working a lot.
I'm starting. Um gee's one of my starting Christmas Eve.
I got Christmas off, New Year's Day off, but then um,
every day after that, just all in that ten PM
to two a m. One day with you too. So
(01:37:39):
I don't know what it's kind of slacking it. Well, no,
I'm not slacking it. You just chose another co host
over me. So I could be bitter about this, but
you know, it is what it is. Hey. You know
I mentioned some of the interesting numbers, and let's get
into this because every single week you're on a Fox
Football Sunday with Arnie and Plank. We dive into we
(01:38:00):
know after the week, and some of it can be
short terms, some of it can be long term. But
I wanted to start and I wanted to go in
this direction. Arnie. After a week fifteen of the National
Football League, I know this. Defenses are are starting to
dominate in what we thought was going to be an
offensive league throughout the majority of the season. Saw this
(01:38:22):
note from that NFL research. A total of forty touchdowns
were scored across the NFL today, it's the fewest on
a Sunday with at least ten games since n Wow.
That's incredible, isn't it. Um And it kind of blew
me away a little bit. Obviously we have the Bucks
(01:38:43):
getting shut out tonight. It was only, by the way,
it was only the fifteenth time in Tom Brady's career
that he was even scoreless in a half. Are at
least entering halftime. So a lot of crazy things tonight
and today, But Arnie, I don't Maybe I'm reading into
it a little bit too much, but to me, it's
a sign that hey, defenses are starting to get that
(01:39:03):
edge as the season progresses. On the offense. Oh and
that Caroline has Cam Newton and p J Walker playing
quarterback playing quarterback. Drew Lock was in there for a
little bit, but yeah, no, it's uh. They're a lot
of backup quarterbacks that are out there right now. Make
no mistake about that either. Right after Week fifteen, I
know this. My Miami Dolphins saved their season today, no
(01:39:25):
doubt about that. Do you like that sound effect? Did
you like that one? Did you come up with that yourself? Yeah?
Do you like that one? Look at you. I'm very
proud of you right now there listen again, are you
playing that off your phone? Is that what you're doing?
Oh my gosh, I love it. They were down tend
(01:39:47):
nothing seventeen to seven. Uh, they rallied. If they lose
to the Jets, of course, the season's over. They still
have to win three more games. They'll beat the Saints,
still beat Tennessee. It will all come down to New England.
But they saved their season today by coming back and
beating the Jets. The Jets, no doubt about that. Here
was what to a tongue of Ala said afterwards. Just
being around the guys. I really think it's just the communication,
(01:40:10):
just guys being in in the building when you know
where we have off days, guys wanting to work, stay
back extra and I think all those play factors into
our success on the field. You know, there was one story,
there was one story that broke this week that got
zero pub and I don't know if everyone looks at
it and isn't buying it. I mean I know it
(01:40:32):
wasn't fake because I went and reread it like three times.
But Pro Football Talk reported that of the twenty two
cases against DeShawn Watson the eighteen we're gonna get settled.
Huh oh was it eighteen or nineteen? We're gonna get settled?
And the Dolphins pulled out of the deal because they
couldn't get the final three settled, and he was on
(01:40:52):
his way to Miami at the trade deadline but they
couldn't get those settled. And then the other part of
it was Carolina was like, we don't care, We'll take anyway,
and he didn't wave the Shawn wouldn't waves no trade
cosse to Carolina. So this is a pretty incredible turnaround,
Arnie on a lot of fronts. But consider that your
boys were trying to get rid of him as as
early as the trade deadline, or at least Stephen Ross.
(01:41:13):
I'm glad they didn't get him, but I'm really shocked
at nineteen of the twenty three or whatever it was,
we're gonna get settler nineteen of the two. I'm not
sure what to make of that, to be honest with you, Chris,
and that, um, there's not gonna be any ill effects
of this coming up for the Watson don't know. I
don't know, um okay, I speaking of not really knowing,
(01:41:34):
I don't know what to make of this, Arnie, but
after a week fifteen in the National Football League, I
know this. I think we need to be a little
bit more selective about when we go for it on
fourth down and when we try the two point conversions
case and point. Now, listen, I get Caroline is a
completely separate issue. They didn't have a kicker, they they
(01:41:54):
went that what that that Arkansas high school football coach.
You never punts or kicks off four on fourth down? Right,
But I mean listen to John Harbor afterwards about two
point conversions for his team today. I'm just gonna try
to get to win right there, and over time, I
think our chances of winning right there were a little
bit higher than and overtime maybe if you calculate it out.
But it felt good about it. Felt we had a
good play, and you know, again, they made a really
(01:42:15):
good play. I gotta give that safety a lot of
credit for getting out there and tipping the ball. Okay,
So that's that's two two point conversion attempts when you
could have gone overtime. And I get the corner injuries
a couple weeks ago against the Steelers, but now Baltimore
is outside of the playoffs looking in and Auntie lou
Riley just hit us up on Twitter with this. It's
a good point. If Brandon Staley kicks one field goal
(01:42:36):
in that whole mix instead of trying to constantly go
for it on fourth down, they might be Kansas City
on Thursday night. So again, I love it's wild because
I'm I'm kind of contradicting myself and I'm a double
edged sword on this because I love the confidence in
your team to go for it. I think Danny you
would agree with me, I which I wish Rich Besaccio
(01:42:59):
would have gone for a little bit more this year
with the Raiders, right, I mean remember against the Chiefs
when it was fourth and five and already downs, like,
what are we doing? You know? I do think there's
a time and place I just got. I'll piggyback off
that on one thing. Geez, teams, when you want to
draw the other team off sides and you know you're
(01:43:20):
not gonna hike the ball, they're not going to jump
off sides because the quarterbacks on, hold on, hold on.
You know what you have to do is and if
you're gonna take the five yard penalty, you might as well,
have the center lift his head or kind of do
like the fake hike and see if you can get
away with it, because that's gonna get people to jump.
(01:43:40):
Especially when the center lifts his head, you might be
able to get away with It's always do it that way.
And if you get the five yard penalty, then you
get the five yard penalty. Chris, you know what I mean,
take it right exactly. If you don't get it punted
away and you're good to go, let me let me
throw one more at you and then we'll get some
sound all right after a week fifteen and tweets are
great tonight, so we'll get to these. I'm running out
(01:44:01):
of time, but we got so much to get to
after week fifteen. I know this. I think I'd have
a really, really, really hard time on my m v
P ballot right because Aaron Rodgers and Jonathan Taylor listen.
I know Brady was shut out tonight, so some would
automatically eliminate him. And now you know, Patrick Mahomes has
still looked pretty good down the stretch, and I know
(01:44:21):
Kyler Murray Murray was probably booted out of it today.
But Arnie, I think you have a good three horse
maybe four horse race right now for the m v
P this year, and I don't think it's gonna be
decided until the final weekend. I personally couldn't care less
about the m v P balloting, but for some reason,
I'm all about it this year. And I don't know
why I'm not into it, And I know you love
(01:44:43):
that stuff. I used I used to be like you.
I couldn't care, but I'm very passionate about Jonathan Taylor
getting mentioned in this right now. I mean, think about
this in a dome, in a dome, Indianapolis won a
game over New England when their quarterback completed five passes
five Arnie and it was all because of Jonathan Taylor
(01:45:05):
is a hundred and seventy yards rushing and his sixties
seven yards scamper to kind of seal the deal. That's crazy.
That's m v P type play for a team that's
solidly in the playoffs, right And what, by the way,
what do you have to get drum VP ballot in
after the season. I think it's I think it's right
after the regular season. I think it's after Week's eighteen
wraps up, you get it in. It's it's It's kind
(01:45:26):
of like the Heisman. I think once the regular season
wraps up, the Heisman, you have to have it in
by four Eastern on that Monday, you think, so, boy,
it's gonna be hard for him to leave after winning
an m v P. Right, maybe, especially if they go
to the Super Bowl. Al Right, when we come back,
we're in the locker room. I got a ton of
post games sound, including what Tom Brady had to say
(01:45:46):
after getting shut out and Bruce arians not happy, but
first he makes us happy. Steve to Sayer to get
a scot up on everything. What's up, Steve? You reference
that the Baltimore Ravens are on the outside looking in
as far as the playoffs. There are five different teams
eight and six, and if the Browns win tomorrow they'll
be eight and six also. But the Baltimore Ravens kind
of like the Browns, have not done well in conference.
(01:46:08):
They are five and five in a f C games.
I realized it was a nonconference home loss, but this
is three straight losses on the schedule the Ravens have
and guess what next Sunday it's Baltimore eight and six
at Cincinnati eight and six. On the other end of
the spectrum. Guess who's in the lead for the number
one draft pick now the Jacksonville Jaguars at two and
twelve because the Lions have two wins in a tie
(01:46:31):
this year. Speaking of ties, by the way, what if
the Steelers tie against Detroit? It's what costs them a
playoff spot this year. That is, you know, we still
got three games to go. It is possible. Uh as
far as the draft, once we get to the spring,
keep in mind there could be five teams without first rounders,
including the Colts. Now that Carson Wentz is taking at
(01:46:53):
least three quarters of the snaps for the season, Colts
are going to lose a first rounder. It looks like
in that trade. We do have two games on Monday.
The Cleveland home game against the Raiders is five pm
Eastern Time. Originally scheduled for Saturday, pushed to Monday due
to COVID cases. Browns are seven and six. They had
twenty four players on the COVID list, including Baker Mayfield
eleven other starters. The Raiders are six and seven. Yes,
(01:47:15):
they did start the season five and two. Raiders have
lost five of six now, including the defeat at Kansas City. Boy,
that was an evil last forty eight nine In the
last game the regular Monday night games Minnesota at Chicago.
Vikings only six and seven, but they get to visit
the struggling Bears. Chicago is this season too, and oh
against Detroit two and nine against everybody else. Minnesota keeps
(01:47:38):
playing close games thrillers, not always winning them, though they
have four losses by three points or less. And the
Minnesota their last game was that Thursday night game against
Pittsburgh where they nearly blew a twenty nine nothing lead.
The two Tuesday games each start at the same time
seven pm Eastern Time, Washington at Philadelphia. Another game rescheduled
from today. We'll see who starts at quarterback. The first
(01:48:00):
two have been on the COVID list. We'll see who
starts at quarterback for the Eagles for that matter. Coming
off a bye week, Jalen Hurts with the bad Aggle,
had reportedly split practice reps with Gardner Minshew. The Rams
home game is against Seattle, and six more players went
on the COVID list for the Seahawks today, including starting
corner d J. Reid. Already wide receiver Tyler Lockett went
on the list on Thursday. Good news for the Rams.
(01:48:21):
They've had reinstatements. There were at least twenty seven Rams
spending time on the COVID list recently, but back from
the list. Odell Beckham Jr. Running back Darrell Henderson, defensive
back Jalen Ramsey. Tonight's NFL game had a final of
nine to nothing. The Saints won at Tampa Bay. Tampa
Bay had been six and oh at home this year.
They were the top scoring team in the NFL at
(01:48:43):
thirty one points a game. Didn't get a single point,
no touchdowns at all either side in the game. Tom
Brady was sacked four times. New Orleans offense on third
down conversions three for sixteen. The two Saints running backs
combined twenty carries twenty eight yards. Saints had refield goals,
no touchdowns. The offense I mentioned earlier on thirteen drives,
(01:49:05):
only eleven first downs missing. The head coach Sean Payton
attested positive for COVID. A Saints team that had lost
five straight until they got to play the Jets last
week and New Orleans won the game go figure yes
injuries first half to Mike Evans Chris Godwin injury second
after Leonard Ford a Green Bay one one thirty at Baltimore.
(01:49:25):
Though Tyler Huntley, the Baltimore quarterback today four total touchdowns,
Lamar Jackson was out with the springed ankle. ESPN has
called it a bone bruise. Huntley on the ground thirteen
carries seventy three yards. Baltimore scored two touchdowns in the
last five minutes, but they went for two late and
missed the past lost by one. There were fifty first
downs combined in this game. Wow. San Francisco beat Atlanta nine.
(01:49:51):
Ers have won five of their last six this Thursday
at San Francisco at Tennessee. San Francisco got touchdowns on
four straight drives at one point way through this game.
Cincinnati's win was fifteen to ten. At Denver, got a
fifty six yard touchdown past late third quarter Joe mix
And left late in the game with a knee injury.
I'll get to the Dolphins. Buffalo beat Carolina thirty one
(01:50:13):
fourteen Josh Allen with the spraying foot three touchdown passes.
Now Buffalo just one game behind first place New England
in the a f C East. Buffalo plays at New
England next Sunday. Miami won at sixth straight. Thank you,
you love that, you love it until he's non union.
Come in a little Soonior next time. T four Dolphins
(01:50:35):
beat the Jets on a touchdown pass with about three
and a half minutes to go, Detroit thirty to twelve
over Arizona. Oh. By the way, and that Dolphins win,
I did read that this is the second team in
NFL history to start a season one and seven but
get to seven and seven, and the other team on
the list the nineteen four Jets, but back then the
(01:50:56):
season was only fourteen weeks, so they ended the season
at seven and seven and did not make the playoffs.
As for Detroit, Jerikoff three touchdown passes in the win
over Arizona thirty to twelve. A shocker. It's just the
third time since the merger going back about fifty years
that a team coming in with the worst record in
the league beat a team with the best mark minimum
(01:51:18):
eight games played each. The Cardinals have got to get
it together. This Saturday night, they will host the Colts.
Kyler Murray had four carries for three yards today Arizona's
offense and the on red zone tds oh for four
Pittsburgh somehow came back to beat Tennessee nineteen to thirteen.
Steelers had twelve drives twelve first downs, but they have
(01:51:39):
t J Watt seventeen sacks, a team record. I hope
you uh maybe didn't see the injury tight end Pet
Fremer the second concussion he left for Pittsburgh. He was
he was injured before he took the second hit, before
he even hit the ground. Dallas won six at the Giants.
Houston a thirty to sixteen win at Jacksonville, even though
Houston after its opening draw. I've they had ten drives,
(01:52:01):
eight first downs, but you know, playing the Jaguars, Kaye
Fairbar and from U c l a field goals of
fifty two and fifty one yards before halftime. Next Sunday,
Texans host the Chargers. College hoops wins for Iowa State
and Texas. NHL suspended cross border travel for a week.
By the way, the NHL has a deadline of January
tenth to opt out of the Olympics without financial penalty. Then,
(01:52:25):
and this seems unlikely that the NHL Stars are gonna
be going now because the schedule here is impacted. Kid,
They're not. They're not. Somebody's gonna be after filling spots
on the USA team, for example, But it doesn't seem
like it's going to be NHL players. Uh. NBA had
three games today postponed due to health protocols, but Detroit
got to play and finally one They ended a four
(01:52:47):
fourteen game losing streak beating Miami. Chicago beat the Lakers.
Lakers are sixteen and fifteen, and Phoenix got Devin Booker back.
He was off about three weeks with a strain hamstring,
and Phoenix led Charlotte latest quarter thirty one to nine,
beat him one seven to one oh six. The Phoenix
Suns are twenty four and five. Thanks Steve, have a
(01:53:08):
great week, buddy, and a happy holiday. That Steven updates
every single Sunday night here on Fox Sports Radio with
any Spaniel on Chris Play. A couple of other quick
tweets that I'll get to uh some of the post
game sound Uh. Josh is on fire tonight, He writes,
I just think about how good this Colts team would
be with Andrew Luck. But WinCE, we'll get us there,
(01:53:32):
along with j T and that defense and the special teams.
Two block punts for TVs. You know, slow down on that.
I was looking at some of the numbers for the Colts.
They have have had the easiest schedule, I think in
the entire NFL. You know that, don't you. Their strength
of victory is the lowest of any team in the
(01:53:53):
a f C. I don't know about the NFC, but uh,
probably the NFC. Also, it's they've had a very easy
to drow up till now. I love this strength of
victory you keep bringing up. Um, I've got to dig
into that a little bit deeper because that's fascinating to me.
And I mean that in a good way, right. It's
it's first of all, already using some analytics, which I dig.
(01:54:15):
But the second part of it, I think it says
a lot, right because it's your strength of schedule, your
mind with the record of all teams in the schedule,
and the strength of victory. I mean it's it's to me,
it's a pretty good indicator of just how good of
a footpay team you are. Kansas City strength of victory
is point five to six. The Colts are point three
(01:54:37):
eight four. So, uh, the only team lower than the
Colts are the Dolphins with three point five seven. And
with the Dolphins, we're gonna have an easy time of
it going because of the easy schedule they have the
last six games. Do you know who is the lowest
rated team with a winning record, by the way in
(01:54:57):
strength of victory, I think it's it's since anat So
it kind of it kind of shows you just how
and I'm sorry it's Indianapolis. Incinnati's right there, but it
kind of shows you just how tough that that can be.
To truly gauge. I'm all in right now. I dig,
I dig Indianapolis, But that just means he'll probably lose
four straight games. They're on fire now. They're just gonna
(01:55:20):
implode the rams of beaten opponents of so they've had
it pretty easy. Also, uh Minnesota man Kevin writes, tomorrow
the Vikings take on the Bears. Why that football? What
do Kirk Cousins and the Vikings need to do in
order to win and get back in the wild card conversation?
Must win for them. I need your input, Arnie, and
(01:55:41):
I'll make my prediction. Yeah, right, were they the Vikings
right now? They had the last wild card in the
number nine right now, so they have to get by Washington.
I don't think the Saints are going to win out.
But the Minnesota is one less game. So if they
win against Chicago, which I think they do, they go
to seven and seven, then who gets that last spot? Actually,
(01:56:05):
the Saints get the tiebreaker over in Minnesota. R That's right,
that's right, they want the tiebreak over Minnesota. But but
here's the thing. It doesn't matter because, like you know,
the Dolphins are beating the Saints next week, right, that
drops into seven and eight. So you're in good shape
if you're in Minnesota fan. All Right, more tweets to
get to. I haven't even hit the postgame audio yet,
but Arnie's picks are next to another hour. We have
(01:56:28):
to take Ben Maller's hour. You talked a bit about that.
That's alright, It's aren't even playing on a Fox Football Sunday. Alright,
final segment for US big then coming up next. Maybe
maybe why maybe we may stay another hour. I appreciate
(01:56:49):
that you think you can make that call, Arnie, Like,
only make that call right now. Then let's do it.
I got stuff to do afterwards. How Dad two a
m East coast. You know, I can't even there's only
one fast food restaurant open to this whole town. After
twenty four hours. Otherwise I can't if he gets something
to eat here. I can't even get by mail. Do
(01:57:11):
you know that? My my mailman if he broke his legs,
so they stopped delivering the mail. It comes like once
a week. Now I have to drive in the town
to get it. You got your mail doesn't come? No,
it comes once or twice a week. Gosh, your poor mailman.
You got one mail guy for your old ned Ned.
He hurt his legs, so I was wondering if his
brother Ted was going to deliver. But he didn't deliver.
(01:57:32):
So I gotta go in now real quick before we
get to your picks. Here's what Tom Brady said about
the frustration of the shut out tonight. We just the
next cute grade. Obviously, just tough night. So I didn't
do much anything right. So we gotta get a lot better.
Gotta get back to work. It's a lot of football
left and see if we can go get a win
next week. Last press conference, you ever right, careers ever
so well? That Bruce arians very disappointing. That's never happened
(01:57:54):
to me. I don't know. I can't remember last time
I shout out and uh or us and uh, but
kicking game kickers let us down also, and this is
between the offense and in the kicking game that costs
us the game. The defense play good enough to win,
went after the kicker, but then you have the Brady Huh. Absolutely,
I stuck up as my kicker in fantasy football. It
(01:58:15):
did not have a good day. Then already, let's take
it away. Final segment. Every single Satday night, you're a pix.
Where are you starting? All right? We gotta get to
some bowl games because I guess people are betting the book.
I went Owen one because I took Toledo, so I'm
own one of the bowl games. I like ken State
plus the three against Wyoming only for the reason because
my son goes to ken State. Actually pay attention to
the games. And I love Army, as Bernie told you,
(01:58:37):
taking the service academies always good in the ball games.
I'll take Army minus the four against Missouri. All right,
so let's get to the whole slew of NFL games.
I'm gonna take the Raiders plus the three against Cleveland.
Hope the Raiders come up big tomorrow. I'm also gonna
take the Vikings minus the six and a half on
the road against Chicago, so that's a big game there.
(01:58:58):
I'm all over the Rams minus the seven against the Seahawks,
and give me Philadelphia minus the six and a half
against the Washington football team. My Dolphins beat the Saints
on Monday night or we'll be on the air by then,
so it doesn't make a difference. But just so I
make sure everybody knows Dolphins are gonna win the game.
(01:59:18):
I don't even need the three. They'll beat the Saints.
They'll go to eight and seven. And I like the
Patriots minus one NAF against Buffalo. So there you have
my picks, two of them, as you please. No longer
strictly for entertainment purposes only. And who said that the
Dolphins we're gonna win nine in a row? Come on
now again, give me some six, um, but they haven't
(01:59:40):
won nine in a row yet. Now you you'll be
able to bang this drum next Sunday night too, because
again they don't play until Monday, so you're in good part.
Is that crazy? What a prediction? It's a prediction. It's
the bosses like you made what prediction? You work here?
You know stuff like that. They're always surprised I bet
(02:00:03):
they are. Vic Fangio. One story we haven't touched on
too much. Scary hit. You know, the Steer was mentioning
the Steelers are tied in earlier, but a scary injury
for Teddy Bridgewater with the way that he was hit.
Here was an update from Vic Fangio after the guy
took him to the hospital. Everything has checked out good
(02:00:23):
up to this point. They're just gonna keep him overnight
for observations, but they think he'll should be and we'll
be fine. They got the Raiders next Sunday. You know
the second hit on the Pittsburgh receiver and I can't Yeah,
unless you remember, um, unless you saw the player, you're
not gonna know what I'm talking about. But the second
guy who hit him, you saw that after the first hit,
(02:00:47):
there was something wrong. He could have eased up on him,
you know what. There he could have just said, I'm
just gonna wrap you up and put you down. He
hit him pretty hard. I thought maybe that somebody was
gonna take offense to that, you know, But I guess
it's stuff to just hold back in that situation. Yeah,
and again you're dealing with also a coach who is
(02:01:08):
uh defensive minded coach, and I listen, he's always gonna
be looking out for the safety of his guys. When
Mike Tomlin, I don't think he's gonna call a guy
for that. But Mike Tomlin was fired up about his
team's ability to force him turnover and overs, level the
playing field in the second half and provided the short
fields for us, and that's that was the catalyst for
for US to go ahead and the secure victory. And
(02:01:28):
then of course Mike vrabel on his team's inability to
get a first down when they needed it. Initially the
ball was spotted where they spotted it, and then replay
assists comes in, New York comes in, and then you
know calls. The call had a bunch of us looking
at it, a bunch of people looking at it and
said he was short and it was short. It was
I don't know what the hell. Listen, I appreciate what
(02:01:49):
you're trying to sell their but I think once you
look back on it, you're gonna see that it was
a pretty short as well. To all right, you know
what my alma maters in action tomorrow night. I'm very
hurt you didn't pick them. I'm very hurt. That that
wouldn't be a game that you looked at in the
What Myrtle Beach Bowl tomorrow? You missed the Myrtle Beach
(02:02:11):
Bowl the Mighty Golden Hurricane as nine point favorites. And
I'll add this. I know that we're not about like
looking at things going downhill, but there were more bowl
games on Saturday, Arenie, than there will be on January one.
What in the hell is going on with college book?
Good luck to you, Tulsa over old dominion. Let's go
already have a great holiday, Buddy for Bubba, for Danny
(02:02:34):
g for Steve Disaker. He's already spanio on Chris Planks.
I have a great holiday. See you next Sunday night
on Fox Sports Radio.
