Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening. No Fox Sports Radio Radio. Go here
we go, here, we go through the night, all night
on Fox Sports Radio. And I've spent the last two
programs on the road. I've been in the I've been
in the Eastern time zone. I have a hot take.

(00:23):
I feel like the Eastern time zone is the most
challenging time zone for this program. Kind of in the
middle of true bedtime. Two am to five am Eastern
Standard time, Central time Zone is a little bit like that,
you know, right, kind of in a little purgatory one
to four am West Coast is the way to be,
I think for this program. But tonight and tonight only,

(00:46):
that'd be the greatest night for this program in the
Eastern time zone, because I don't think anyone is sleeping
tonight after the nickt win. And I gotta tell you
something I don't know. I don't know if there is
a fan base that I equally love as much as
I can't stand as a Knicks fans. It's you hear

(01:06):
that saying a lot, act like you've been there. How
can you tell a Knicks fan that they've never been
there in their lifetime? The last time this team won
a title, a majority of us that are listening to
this show weren't even born yet. I mean, Knicks fans
are so desperate for any modicum of success. Now we

(01:27):
got my guy, Jason Smith sitting here telling us, the
guy that's been with the Knicks for what three seasons
is the greatest Nick of all time? Like, what do
we do with Knicks fans? But you know what? D
you do? You? You BEU. I'm not here to tell
you how to act. I'm not here to tell you
how to be. Congratulations that was taken care of business.

(01:47):
You can't blame this on Jason Tatum's injury. Boston was
in big trouble already when Tatum went down. You can't
blame this on Boston being tired. You can't blame this
on anything other than a New York Knicks team that
persevered inarguably one of the weirdest series. I think when

(02:11):
you look at scores and when you look at just
how it played out that we've had. I mean the
Knicks win Tonight one, nineteen eighty one, which means in
this series you had two games where the team that's
moving on had to come back from twenty points down.

(02:32):
You had two games of the six games where the
team that is moving on lost by twenty or more points,
throwing an a point victory there for the Nicks in
the middle of it. Oh yeah, then you had a
thirty eight point win tonight. Just a weird series. I
don't know if you would call it a good series.
I would call it a fun series. And I think

(02:54):
the show here is seeing Knicks fans celebrate it the
way that they are so I I don't know else
to say, but this is a this is well, you
gotta we still got to watch our language, but this
is a safe space. Tonight Knicks fans celebrate let it
All Out at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox

(03:15):
eight seven seven nine ninety six six three six. Now,
I'm happy for y'all. I think it's cool. I think
Jalen Brunson is very likable. I think Karl Anthony Towns
I've never understood the bad rap against Karl Anthony Towns,
have never understood it. I think he's is he a
little bit goofy? Sure, but isn't that what we want

(03:38):
in our in our athletes? They not everyone has to
be so structured and so the way that we expect
him to be. I heard a great term that Colin
Coward used about I don't know three months ago that
it's just stayed with me and I use it for everything.
Quarterback eel. You know, we want every single athlete to
kind of act a certain way, and Kat's a little

(03:59):
bit of a different burden. I'd dig it. I mean TIBs,
Tibbs kind of got the grumpy old man. Which, by
the way, what are we doing? TIBs? You're up thirty
and you still have your starters in the game. I mean,
have you watched this series? Did you see Jason Datum
go down? Have you watched out? Injuries have effected this
postseason again and again and again? Not enough playing shut up?

(04:21):
I'm gonna roll with this. Fun man, what fun? What
a fun fan base when things are going well? Now,
things are right, eh, but they never lack confidence. And
we have what I would say is as unexpected of
an Eastern Conference finals as you could get. But with

(04:42):
that said, if you look at the way that it's
played out, it makes complete and total sense. Right. Did
anyone really truly outside of Cleveland come into this postseason
saying watch out for the Cavs?

Speaker 2 (04:54):
No?

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Everyone kind of like Oklahoma City, right, Oklama City has
had and by the way, o Coloma City has done
a good job of getting a their own way. But
it seems as if Okasee and Cleveland fall under the
same umbrella where no one remembers it. Okac was the
one seed in the playoffs last year as well, so
they've done it in back to back seasons. But nobody
was really buying into Cleveland, right, It's like, oh, well,
we'll just wait for the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Kid.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Here, they're taking the season a little bit more seriously
than the Celtics, who are being smart about things and
battling through injuries. It just never really had a true
overall mind. I know that's really easy to say from
this bully pulpit tonight because they got knocked out of
the playoffs. Really really easy to say. But no one

(05:36):
was really buying Cleveland, and then they had the injuries
it took place. Darius Garland was one hundred percent. I
think it's fair to say Donovan Mitchell might not have
been one hundred percent through majority of this series, right,
Several other key players battling injuries. So Cleveland kind of
made its own bed and the Jason Tatum injury sucks
for Boston. I don't even know if he put the

(05:59):
Dame Lillard injury in this mix too, because I mean,
let's face it, the Bucks looked pretty done as well
when he went down. I don't know. It's unlikely based
on the way that these two teams got here, Pacers
getting in the advantage of a few dings and injuries
for year number two for them to end up in

(06:20):
the Eastern Conference Finals. But I think previewing the Eastern
Conference Finals, previewing Indiana New York, that's a that's a
fu job. That's a Sunday night here with Well Arnie's
out this week, and of course that's Sunday night here
on Fox Sports Radio. That's Monday whenever we get things

(06:41):
rolling with Joe with Ben Mallor to start the week.
Right to me, when you start looking ahead to the
Eastern Conference Finals, I think there's still a twenty four hour,
forty hour great spirit that we give every one on
that front. It's gonna be fun. It's first conference finals
for the Knicks since two thousand. You know, last year
was last year. If Brunson's healthy, who knows, but they're

(07:04):
they're in the Eastern Conference Finals, and they did it
in pretty impressive fashion. So congrats Knicks fans. I want
to hear from you all night long at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven, seven nine ninety six,
six three sixty nine. Now, if you are a regular
listener at this time during the week, you know, in
the malor section of the Sports Bible, the best story

(07:28):
is always in the loser's locker room, right If if anything,
if there's anything that Ben Mallards taught us, it is that,
And I am I'm very intrigued to see what the
reaction is going to be from Boston fans now every
single time and again, this is a team that just
won a title, right, so you kind of pull back
a little bit and you try to curb it with

(07:50):
some reality, maybe a little bit of levity. I'm trying
to use all the big words tonight in the first segment, guys,
but I just I understand the frustration and the disappointment.
And yes, you know, the Jason Tatum now injury leaves
this franchise in a little bit of purgatory for the
next year. But they still have a talented group. Jalen

(08:12):
Brown still superstar. I think see what Derek White, what
his future looks like. Christap porzingis. But it's true, Holliday.
You know, I'm just mentioning three or four guys that
would be key players anywhere else in the NBA. I
don't know. I'm not ready to pardon this analogy. I
heard it used once. Throw the baby out with the bathwater.

(08:34):
You guys did that one before. I'm not ready to
just punt on the Celtics and say, ah, the Knicks
own them. Now they're done, it's over. Great run, they're
coming off with title. I think there's a little bit
of a grace period that comes over the next few seas,
or at least the next few months in today's sports world.
But I say that all to basically go back on

(08:56):
one of the wildest social media debates that we got
into in quite a while. I was to understand that
this was going to be the best version of the
Boston Celtics without Jason Tatum. I was told that this
was going to be when they're really at their best. Right,
isn't that what we pay all the big bucks to get?
Analysis like that? I mean, I was to understand that

(09:16):
we were going to get a tight game tonight and
that this this was going to be the Celtics that
you need to look out for. That's what I was
to understand. But I'm not ready to punt on Boston.
I'm you know, I saw a there's already the article up.
Can Boston keep its core together?

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Like?

Speaker 1 (09:35):
What would you consider Boston's core? I guess is the question.
Tatum's not going anywhere, Brown's not going anywhere. I mean,
Missoula's not. I assume Joe Mozilla's still considered the dude
there and he just won a title. I don't know.
I don't know what you would consider that true core
Beyond those two guys. We're having the same conversation to

(09:58):
a certain extent, maybe even a less extent in Oklahoma
City right now. If the Thunder lose to the Nuggets
tomorrow night, where where are we going? Right? What's what's
happening here? You've but you've got a core. You got
Jalen Williams, and you got Shay Gilges Alexander and I
think with the way that these playoffs have gone, you

(10:20):
got Chet Holmgren. I think he's excuse me, I think
he's proven that he is a guy that is worthy
of a long term deal, worthy of I don't want
to get too carried away here in the numbers, super
Max and things of that nature, but I think he's
proven he's a core piece. Bounce that back to the Celtics.
I don't I don't necessarily know if you're looking at
something for the future of the Boston Celtics where you're

(10:43):
you're you're really having to figure out what you're going
to do with an absolute star player. I think they're
in good shape. It's hard to win in the NBA.
It's hard, and I know that franchises like Boston don't
accept that because it's like, no, we win every year, understood,
get it, fine, Good for you, but it's tough. And

(11:03):
you heard it. I mean you heard in Monsey's update.
You heard the pain in Jalen Brown. He's like heay man,
it feels like it feels like death, losing the Boston
losing to the New York Knicks. Here we are so
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine ninety six six three sixty nine. Well as we
come to you tonight from the Fox Sports Radio studios.

(11:25):
I sadly report that Brianna is on a break. She
took VAK eight tonight, so shouts out Brianna wherever you are,
miss you. But Patrick Sweeka is in to help things
out this evening, noted Seahawks slash Vikings fan. But Patrick,
I don't know what's your NBA. What's your NBA team?
All right?

Speaker 4 (11:43):
All right, planks so NBA wise here, I like you
am a big Laker guy.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Oh that's right.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
Remember I remember like his talk time.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Since we've done a show together, I know.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
We're refreshing along and all. So, but you and I
with the Lakers, I don't have eight second because I
know you like the Thunder too.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
The Thunder a lot this. I like this version of
the Thunder. I didn't really care too much for the
Durant Westbrook Thunder.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
No, this one's fun right now with Sega come on,
man like and shad and underrated star Jalen Williams by
the way.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Yes, Jada, even though he's been terrible the last few.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Games of the fair. But I mean he's been great
prior to that though. But yeah, I know, like I mean,
if I I don't have a second team despite the
football thing, as we know at the football I don't
actually have a second NBA team. But if I were
to have, like maybe just out of sympathy, like good
on you guys if you win, would be the Timberwolves.
And that's again coming down to the Minnesota roots. I have,

(12:37):
you know, the family, like you know, Viking Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
I think the NBA's okay plays to have a couple
of teams, the NFL not. So I can't buy people
that're like, well, I'm a brown man, I have concerns
about you being a Seahawks and a Viking camp. But
at the very least back in the day that was
NFC and AFC before they moved, that is chatt to
the NFC. That is true. Patrick will be in. He'll
be helping us out on that long anything stand out
to you from tonight, I mean, are you. I don't

(13:01):
think any anybody's ready to just fold the Celtics, but
I think we're celebrating. And it's fun to see the
Knicks and their fans on Cloud nine because they kind
of act like they're on Cloud nine ninety percent of
the time and then they get beat. But in the end,
it's pretty awesome to see how how the celebrations are
playing out. Tonight.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
It is really really cool. I mean we were listening
to some of like the just the New York fans
like saying like, hey, Boston Seal later, like you know
what I mean, Like they're they're having fun, but yeah,
they it's hard to say, you gotta be there, but
like they've been waiting so long, like you'd said it
best where they're like they are so lovable and yet
it's so hateable, Like it's amazing. It is amazing. Like

(13:41):
as for like the Boston like they're hurt, Like I
get it, like Jason Tatum being out, like they were saying, yes,
like situationally with Tatum out, this is the best team
they're getting like around actually, like him being out's actually
a addition rather than a subtraction.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
But like they're hurt, Manuel acho, great, great, take sure
look like it tonight.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Right exactly, But like they're hurt, they're beat up. And
also they had their backs against the wall because the
Knicks came in a little more aggression and popped them
in the face with those comebacks. And honestly, what's gonna
do you in is just the mental games just gonna
do you in there, plus the injury, it just it
was a messy storm. That's what happened.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
It was good morning, Mark Ramsey. How was your week? Good?
Good week, good week, very good week. Now do you
care about this or you just getting paid? I mean,
is this a series where you look back on it?
It's like, that's pretty fun. I got to see Jason
Smith skinny Jason celebrate. Are you like, hey man, I'm
clocking out in about five hours from now, leave me
alone with his NBA stop.

Speaker 5 (14:40):
I'm liking that the Knicks are doing well because they
haven't been one of those teams in a very, very
very long time, one of those people you were speaking
about that they haven't been this successful. A lot of
people listen, like you said, weren't even born so right.
I was around when they were that good, many many
moons ago, many moons ago. Happy for them because the

(15:04):
Celtics just won, so they just had a title, so
let somebody else have it. I'm in that camp.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
I was digging a bit because, like we said, the
story's always in the loser's locker room. Maybe this is
a little bit different tonight with it being the Knicks,
but there is one angle to keep in mind. This
is new ownership that's taking over the Knicks, because I

(15:30):
say it, NIXT, I'm sorry the Celtics. It's new ownership
that's taken over the Celtics, and there will be some
decisions to be made. The luxury tax is always going
to be a conversation in the NBA because it's gonna
be a whole new group that's taking over. And oh,

(15:50):
by the way, they paid six billion dollars for it.
And then you had your star player rupture his achilles
and you get eliminated by your r trival. So I
guess there is a true question as to whether or
not whether or not a Boston team with new ownership,

(16:16):
a Boston franchise with new leadership might say, we're not
gonna have Jason Tatum next year. Guys, let's kind of
be smart about what we're doing here financially. What can
we do to get younger. I don't know. It's a
theory that's being floated by several not just not just
me going acho on you and throwing something off the wall.

(16:38):
See if it sticks. I tend to push back against that.
I don't know much about their ownership group, but I
have found that the recent additions in professional sports ownership. Right,
you see what's happened in Washington with I keep wanting
to say the Redskins, but the Commanders and how it's

(17:00):
been a it's been gotsa most of these most of
these new owners, this new money they've got in it,
and they've maybe been a little bit quick on the
trigger to fire some coaches. But it's not it's not
like they're just punting on cash now. Dallas Maverick's a
different situation because the theories we had around them and
what they might do post yeah, Luca and the train

(17:23):
and then they end up getting the blessing of the
number one overall pick. It's funny to me how this week,
and we'll get to the frozen envelope coming up later
on the program. It's funny to me on a side notes,
all this this Nicks and Celtics talk that suddenly Nico
Harrison became a good general manager because his team won
the lottery. I mean, come on, it's like I'm a
terrible financial person. If I win the lottery, that doesn't

(17:44):
mean that I was a good investment guy. I just
got lucky. Celtics. Celtics, I don't think they're going to
be in a bailing on this roster situation. We will
see and I don't think we suddenly turned to Nico
Harrison and say what a general manager because he got lucky.
All right, So right seven seven ninety nine on Fox
eight seven seven nine nine six six three sixth night. Way,
a couple of other topics I want to hit tonight.

(18:06):
The Caleb Williams story was the least shocking thing to
me in the world. Coming up at everything is in
Central time zone, and I know we don't do time
checks around here, but coming up an hour two, I
want to spend some time on this. Right, This was
seth Wickersham's art keep saying article book was a bombshell,

(18:29):
But in that same vein, if you have followed Caleb Williams, Dad,
Carl at all, this is the least shocking story that
has ever hit the presses. I mean, really, Carl Williams
is out trying to get you want to talk about
bad business. This dope is trying to get a son
of the UFL where the average salary is fifty grand,

(18:51):
when he probably would have been one of the richest
college quarterbacks ever if he was in the transfer portal. Like,
what are we even doing. I want to talk about
business one on one, bro, what do we do it?
So we'll get to that story a little bit later on.
I do want to talk about the NBA lottery this
week because I love talking conspiracies. I don't think I'm
a tinfoil hat guy. May maybe what's the aligned from

(19:16):
the office. I'm not superstitious. I'm a little stitious. I'm
not a conspiracy theorist guy. I'm just maybe a little
bit spiracy. But it just seemed a little bit off
this week, and it gets you thinking about some of
the great conspiracies in the history of sports. NFL schedule
release I see my Man Florio is at it again,

(19:37):
clutching his pearls over these schedule release videos, which, by
the way, the colt should have had to pull that down.
What are we doing? Even Tyreek Hill thought it was funny.
I thought it was hilarious. And if you want to
hide behind some sort of thing with Microsoft, now come on,
come on. The Chargers didn't have to pull theirs down,
and it was incredibly similar. So just get a sense
of humor. People, settle down. I mean, these video dudes

(20:02):
have nothing to do during the off season. Nothing, Give
them some, let them that funnel, let them build it.
It's okay, But on the schedule at least I thought
there were some interesting notes. I think you're seeing one
team that has been crammed down our throats consistently that
America has started to push back on. We'll dive into that.
Oh yeah, Pete Rose got to reinstate it as well.

(20:25):
One of the greatest crutch topics in the history of
sports radio. It's all in the dock at tonight. Brie
is out, Patrick's in, Mark's running the program. I'm Chris Plank.
Your call's coming up right here on Fox Sports Radio Instagram.
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to

(20:49):
listen live. All right, it's the Plank Show right here
on Fox Sports Radio. Patrick'sweek is in tonight for Brie.
Mark Ramsey's running the program. Uh'll revisit a little bit
of the fun from tonight. This was the final call
on the Knicks radio network as New York. It's back

(21:11):
in the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since
two thousand. That is by my math carry on twenty
five years ago, since the Knicks made the Eastern Conference Finals.

Speaker 6 (21:24):
Pyne gets the rebound with the shock clock turned off.
If you want to knock off the champions, you have
to play like champions. And the Knicks did that tonight
a one nineteen eighty one way, and the outcome that
no one in the NBA saw coming aside for the
New York Knicks themselves Nicks and six and they're on

(21:46):
their way to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first
time in twenty five years.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
Bab my math was right. Jalen Brunson afterwards, old.

Speaker 7 (21:56):
Bad Game five just wasn't us, and we knew that.
We reflected on it and we came back. We knew
that we need to be ready, we need to be better.
The way we prepared, the way we talked out there,
the way we made an emphasis to have each other's
back and continue to cover for each other. It's focused
on defense side.

Speaker 8 (22:13):
Of the ball.

Speaker 7 (22:14):
When we're doing that, I'm in offense. I mean, we're flowing,
and so you just got to focus on all little
things that we did that.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
I'm a little disappointed right now. I'm not gonna lie
to you. I'm looking down at the call. I see
Jason in California. Who wants to talk thunder? Listen, I'll
talk thunder all night long. Where's my Knicks fans at
where's my PanicIn Celtics fans at Boston? I know it sucks.
You wear this, you gotta wear it. You got beat
by your rival, you lost one of your best players.

(22:42):
I don't. I'm not freaking about the future with new ownership.
That's just I don't think you buy the Celtics and
immediately start thinking, guys, let's let's let's cut, let's cut
Jaylen Brown, Let's get rid of of Drew Holliday. I
think they're invested. I think they're in. But again, that's
me sitting in my garage studio at Goldsby, Oklahoma, who

(23:06):
doesn't know a ton about this new ownership group. Just
what I've read, and if you follow the fung shway
of the new owners who have taken over, it's good.
Even if you don't care about the Celtics. The freaking
Nicks are going to the Eastern Conference Finals. This is
supposed to be the predominant franchise when it comes to
fan interaction, fan passion, and I got Jason to talk

(23:29):
about the thunder no offense. Jason, I'm gonna get right
to you. I'm just in shock right now. I'm shocked
or yeah, Knicks fan. Though I will accept the answer
that you're not in a state to call a radio show,
right Patrick, We will accept that you could be overserved tonight,
because I think if I'm the Raiders, I'm a big
Raiders fan. That's probably Oklahoma Sooners my number one, number

(23:52):
one Las Vegas Raiders my number one number one. I
can't get hammered what the Raiders are with the Sooners
if they do anything, because that's my yob. But I
can if the Raiders do and if something good happens
when the Raiders going to the playoffs, good Lord Willing,
I'm still around. Holy smokes, it is gonna be ugly.
White tries to keep me from enjoying alcoholic beverages. Patrick,

(24:15):
she will be punted on that evening if something good
like this would happen to my team. So I get it.
But we're allowed to get a little bit loosier in
the overnights.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
Come on, Nicks man, Oh yeah, come on, let's get loose.
Come on, let's have a little fun.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
To loose. Here's Jalen Brunston as well, whenever he was
asked a very interesting question.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
Do you feel like this is an upset and what
is I guess to beat the defending chance to send
them home?

Speaker 9 (24:42):
What does this do confidence wise for you guys moving forward?

Speaker 7 (24:46):
I mean, upset or not, whatever it is, we beat
a great team. They obviously lost a huge piece, but
regardless the way they came out in Game five, they
knew that. I mean, they're still a great team. And
so regardless of whatever anyone thinks, upset or not, I mean,
we're just happy to come out the series with the
win that were moving on, we got prepared for next

(25:07):
to another team.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Yeah, there you there is According to Jason Smith, the
greatest Nick of all time in year three. Hey again,
I'm not here to tell you. I'm somebody that would
fight people and tell them I think Derek Carr is
one of the greatest raiders of all time. So who
am I to judge? Nicks are moving on to the
Eastern Conference Finals. When you know, of all the things

(25:28):
that I got excited about and diving into Patrick, why
do we actually have Game one of that series? Is
that on Monday give me look, you.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Know what, Let me look into that because I know
Sunday is the thunder or the thunder denver one. Let
me see Nicks versus.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
I was hoping you just had it right off the
top of your head. I was ill prepared to my apology.
That taught me, like a minute, I do this a lot.
Let's see here, Nix and Celtics done. Onto the Eastern
Conference finals for the Knicks and the Pacers. Will I
will add one more thing. I have a lot of
questions on the pace sirs tonight, but I do think
that tonight is about the Knicks.

Speaker 4 (26:07):
And I think it's Wednesday, by the way, it was
it Wednesday, wind Wednesday, Wednesday or Wednesday, whichever you prefer. Yes, Wednesday,
May twenty first, five pm probably on the on the
Western Pacific time for that time slot.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
What are they walking to the game?

Speaker 4 (26:26):
Maybe it's go, maybe they're it?

Speaker 1 (26:28):
You know what should to be honest. I have been
somebody in just a side note here, we're gonna get
your call today seven seven ninety nine on Fox. I
have been somebody that has always wanted the NBA to
handle the timing of their postseason, like to have this year,
I was adamantly and vehemently against two to three day

(26:53):
breaks between games, and this year it's been a little different.
You haven't seen a lot of that it was, and
it's mostly any opening round. And as soon as the
NBA does it and they listen to me, what happens.
Everyone gets hurt. Oh, everyone's getting hurt. Great job, Blank,
So you know, maybe it's good to give him a
few extra days, let them rest. I'm sure the Knicks
are a little bit exhausted. I'm sure that you know,

(27:15):
the Pacers have a few things they want to clean
up before they get there. So I will not push
back against it. I will accept this as a Wednesday
start for the Eastern Conference Finals. All right, any loose sins, guys,
you want to tie up before we give it to
the to America on the phone lines and the Pacers
and the Knicks, or on the Thunder and the Nuggets
and the waiting Minnesota Timberwolves. Anything Patrick, anything, Mark we

(27:37):
need to add before we get to the phones. I
think we're good, aren't we. I think we're good. I
mean it's more so hype for just like just either
way between the Thunder or Denver facing the Timberwolves. Like
I just think Timberwolves head full steam right now. Either way, whoever,
they just concerned. It's hard hard to take that against them.

Speaker 5 (27:55):
I hope that Nicks don't have a letdown ow that
they've got passed to Celtics, because they got to keep there,
get there, get there, the mindset on the next thing.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
Well, and if you're watching tonight, I'm not so sure
that they didn't just win the NBA title by the
way that people are acting. I'm actually kind of afraid
if they do win the NBA title or even just
get to the NBA Finals. But Patrick, you would mention
the Nuggets and the Thunder. That's Game seven tomorrow. So
let me get to the phones here. Jason from California
is going to be the leadoff hitter tonight and always

(28:26):
talk a little bit about those thunder. What's going on, Jason,
Welcome to Fox Sports Radio. You get it started tonight.
How's things going?

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Oh man, things are going great.

Speaker 9 (28:34):
You know.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
I don't mean to steal the thunder from the nixt
Big Night in unintentioned, but I gotta take a page
on a pace of homage to the great legendary Chris Brussard.
And be like, uh, stop enough with all the Thunder
love enough. This isn't loving Thunder. Look man, all right?

(28:57):
I love basketball, right I It's a great sport. It's
one of the best ever. But the thing is watching
the Thunder right now. And I didn't see a lot
of their games this year, but watching them right now
while they are I will agree with you guys there
are a lot more entertaining than the Durant team. I
definitely agree with that. But you know, I really thought

(29:17):
the NBA had did a great job with limiting the
James Harden effect, so to speak. I felt like they
did really good on that. But somehow, some way, foul
Merchant Alexander has found a way to get around that.
And the dude is so talented, he's so good, But

(29:39):
watching him play, I've seen every game in the series
against Denver, watching him play, it's horrendous. He doesn't need
to do half the stuff he does. He's dving, flying
in the guys doing everything they can. And the last
game I remember whether Nacer said, well he does everything
he can to make condect. Yeah, no, you know what, Sherlock.

(30:00):
It's like it's terrible, man like, and I think the
Thunder that it's a great story. Like, but honestly, at
this point, man, you know, I mean Sor, the guy
of Thunder himself would be disappointed with this. It's insane,
Like you know, he's sitting up there shaking his head
with his mighty hammer like it's it's wild to me

(30:21):
because again, Sja a tremendous player. I don't like it.
It's hard to watch. And I know Joe Kitch I
get it. He flaies his arms all the time, he
always points at the ress. I understand all that, but
it's like, it's not good basketball, man, It's just not
especially when you know that guy can just take over

(30:43):
the game anytime he wants. He doesn't need to. They
got a great team with the Jalen Williams, one of
the still Williams. Yeah, it's just he's fun to watch too,
and it's great. But I'll tell you what, man, if
I'm being serious, i don't have a dog in the
fight right now, but I'm pulling hard for Denver on
Sunday just to get rid of this clown show. And

(31:05):
if not, if they can't do it, oh man, I
hope the Tea will sweep them.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
Thanks for thanks all guys, all right, appreciate it. This
is requires a little bit of time space for me here,
I will say, I hear you. It's been one of
the biggest fights. And I don't want to say we
because you know I'm I'm a Lakers fan, but listen,

(31:29):
I live in Oklahoma. I've been slow to jump on
the bandwagon. I didn't like how fans. I still don't
like how fans. I mean Oklahoma City thunder fans. Sometimes
they can be the worst. I mean it just they
still were a college football state and they still sometimes
treat Thunder talk like it's college football. Right, lose one game,
everyone should be fired. I understand what you're saying, and

(31:51):
in fact, the very the show got started tonight with
me just saying, hey, I know Game seven is going
to be wild between Thunder and the and the Nuggets,
but this is a show that is about the Knicks. Tonight,
the Knicks fans don't want this show. Morgan, right off
the bat, do you also like that SGA is the

(32:12):
biggest foul merchant in the NBA. That's literally the first
tweet that gets fired off of the program. Jason and California.
The first call is like I'm tired. I guess maybe
for for me, I don't truly, I don't understand the outrage.
I really don't, because you've seen it for years. And

(32:34):
number two, I get it. Whenever a team is good,
you gotta find a way to chip away at them.
And it's just it's not they're winning games. SGA is
gonna win the MVP. You guys act like every point
he gets is from the freaking free throw line. It's not.
And they might lose tomorrow night. They might, they might

(32:55):
get eliminated, and everything would be for not because you're
kind of in a time to show it, okay, see
time to show it right with this core, and I
think they will. We don't have the patients that we
used to have and sports right, How many times did
the Jazz make the Western Conference Finals and come up

(33:16):
short and then they finally got to the cham and
came up short against the Bulls? Right, Lakers had a
couple of years with Kobe and Shack where it took
them a while. I remember betting every one of my fraternity,
every single dollar in my bank account at the time
that the Lakers were going to come back from what
was it, three zip against the Jazz spoiler alert, they
did not, and I was very broke, right So, but

(33:38):
you don't have those types of patient fans and patient
owners and patient just mindsets anymore. You gotta go, you
gotta win. I mean, we're sitting here tonight. The Celtics
won the title last year. They just got knocked out
of the playoffs tonight, and there's articles being written about
trying to blow the score up. What are you talking about?
So my point, more than anything else, is it's it's

(33:58):
very make or break for okay. See, with a lot
of the players on this roster right now, and the
decisions that Sam Presty will have to make about, Hey,
who are you gonna continue to invest in? Who are
you gonna move on from? What's the plan? Because I
think they have a good plan. I don't think anywhere
in there is concern over the way that SGA plays.
Here's another thing. Don't foul don't foul guard him without

(34:21):
fallon number one. People stop flopping around with Harden and
he had to change his game a bit. But I'm
not I don't think this needs to be a three
hour show tonight with me defending Sga. He's gonna win,
the MVP thunder are gonna beat the Nuggets on Sunday night,
and they're gonna move on to the Western Conference Finals.
That's how I feel about it. And if this continues
to be a topic, we can fight about it. But

(34:43):
I hear it. It's like NonStop, and I think I
watch every single one of their games, man, and I
think that whistle goes both ways. I think I think
it's the league. I'm more shopping to take with my
buddy Josh Homer in Oklahoma, Josh and I do a
local show. I feel like it's just a product of
this whole league. You know, you said here like, oh,
Sga is foulban. You know, I know that Jokic does

(35:06):
it too. He's like, well, so you're forgiving Nicole Jokis
for it, but you're pointing finger at Sga. What's forgivable?
And what is it? The Knicks are moving on to
the Eastern Conference Finals. We know that first time since
two thousand. We got more postgame from Tom Fibodeaux coming
up right here on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 10 (35:23):

Speaker 1 (35:35):
I am a little disappointed that Bria is an in
tonight for one reason. It's it's nothing against Patrick, obviously,
you know that Patrick. But Derek Carr retired on Sunday.
That's my guy. Brie hates him. And it's funny because
he actually left a lot of money on the table
for the Saints. And there's an interesting article from Jeremy

(35:57):
Fowler that is it's really, it's really and I don't
do long articles, dude, Can you give it to me
in like three paragraphs and I'm good to go. Even
that like three bullet points might help, and it kind
of lays out. I guess the salatial part of it
is that a Car representative had allegedly reached out to
other teams to gauge their interest. But again, it kind

(36:21):
of sounds like that was even speculative in the report
because the wording around it is just fascinating, and that
they all came to the realization that his best spot
was in New Orleans. It's just he wasn't healthy. So
Car retires. I don't see this as a retirement where
he's back next year, but I'll save you from the
Derek Carr talk, because we have another in I guess

(36:42):
the cool kids terms mid Quarterback to talk about tonight.
Because while we sit here and celebrate the Knicks and
bemoan the Celtics, and we preview a game seven tomorrow
between the Nuggets and the Thunder, and we wonder kind
of the place for this mini pa Sir slash Timberwolves
run back to back years in the Eastern and Western

(37:03):
Conference Finals. We have a big story involving a quarterback,
and of course the first number is always jaw dropping. Tonight,
after much debate and after much I guess you could
say waiting, the San Francisco forty nine ers and brock
Party agreed to a five year, two hundred and sixty
five million dollar contract extension. Now that is what his

(37:27):
agent reports, right, that's the number that everyone looks at
and goes, oh my gosh. What brock Party is among
the highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL. Hehets one hundred
and eighty one million in total guarantees, including one hundred
and sixty five million in the first three years of

(37:48):
a deal that runs through twenty thirty. Now you got
to dig a little deeper here, and this is where
I always tip my cap to Mike Florio because everybody
has a kneejerk reaction, Oh my gosh, why would you
pay that much for a mid quarterback? To me, he
earned it. I think probab Perty earned his deal with
the Niners. Dude was the last pick in the draft.
I mean, he was a mister freaking irrelevant. And by

(38:09):
the way, he wasn't very good in his final year
at Iowa State either. He had a bunch of nerds
to cover college football that thought it was funny because
his name was Brock, so they would call it bro October.
And he had a couple of good seasons at Iowa State,
but his final year, yeah, not so much. We have
three things to find out still number on the signing bonus,
number two, the guaranteed its signing number three, the cash flow,

(38:31):
and it's not an extension of his previous deal. It's
a whole new deal. So that puts him at forty
five million dollars per season. And so if you see
that first number, you're like, oh my gosh, fifty three mil.
It's not the number. He doesn't have a two deal,
he doesn't have a Jared golf deal a little bit

(38:52):
less than about the going rate for a mid quarterback
anymore in the NFL, and it's it's right around the
top ten in guaranteed money. I think one point eighty
one puts him at eight in the guaranteed money. But
I I friends, am a fan of a team didn't

(39:16):
have a quarterback last year. And if there is one
thing I think we can all agree upon. You can
hate your quarterback, you can despise the guy that's leading
your team, but it's sure as hell is better than
not having one at all. And I have lived through
a Jimmy g slash, Oh my gosh, Jared Stidham slash

(39:38):
Gardner Minshew slash. We could do this all night long. Unfortunately,
with the way things went, a nocaddle two year run
for the Raiders, and it's just it's not good. You
guys can dog on quarterbacks all you want, but when
you have a stable guy that you know can help
you win games, that's saying something. Look around the league,
what are the Steelers, I mean, what's going on here?

(40:00):
Is their quarterback situation stabilized with Mason Rudolph. There are
the Giants gonna be good at quarterback. You got like
five guys going through. I mean, like, I think this
is a good deal. I think the Niners have positioned
themselves well. We saw what happened when they didn't have
them in the NFC Championship Game two years ago. It's

(40:21):
a good quarterback and oh, by the way, this is
the going rate for a good quarterback. Niner fans, I
think you should be happy about this. Take your calls.
Coming up next, it's The Plank Show on Fox Sports
Radio Stick around fast first hour. Man, Welcome into The
Plank Show as we come to you live from the
Fox Sports Radio studios. Dude, I am fighting my TV.

(40:44):
It's the worst feeling in the world. And I mean
not like physically, but it just doesn't want to It's
a TV powers all powers off. The freaking fire stick
works or doesn't. Now it's just not just looking at me,
So that adds to my anger. I want to spend
some time talking about the Caleb Williams story this hour

(41:07):
because I thought it was fascinating. I will say I
didn't come away from it thinking anything overly negative about
Caleb Williams. I think it kind of showed you what
a mess the Bears were, and I'm you know, you
always want you're getting one side of the story, at
least any snippets that have been released, you get one side.

(41:28):
There's got to be a counter from the Bears, right
there has to be even if hey, we're moving forward,
there's got to be something from eber Flu's or I
don't know, I don'tven remember the dude's name was their
offensive coordinator last year. There's got to be something from
them to say, wait a minute. There was film study.
I watched the Chase Daniel video and I think is

(41:48):
really good. I like him a lot and kind of
laid out the week that a quarterback would have. And
I just I cannot comprehend in my small that an
NFL team was that inept that there would be zero
and I mean zero sit down conversations with Caleb Williams overfilmed.

(42:13):
I cannot allow myself to believe that. And I get it,
it's a book. You're going to get the most elacial
details out there. But I want to spend some time
on that at some point this hour. And then in
just following up on the contract that I mean a
great deal. I thought for brock Perdy, everyone had the
same joke. Everyone had the same joke. But you can

(42:36):
say mid, you can say frustrating, disappointing, whatever it might be.
But the bottom line, more than anything else, Niners have
themselves a quarterback and the initial reports aren't necessarily what
we're looking at. Financially. You know, this is a dude,
that's the guaranteed money is top ten. But this, I

(42:56):
mean when you start thinking about teams and franchises and
where they are, the Niners are a top ten franchise.
So they got to pay their quarterback like that, even
though they struggled this year. So I don't have a
big deal with the Brock Party contract, but I will
say it does solidify another quarterback spot. Now, not that
the Niners were gonna move on or do anything and

(43:19):
go anywhere else, didn't. I didn't think that sound like
they weren't ever gonna pay brock Purty. I felt like
it was inevitable. But there was just this part of
me that felt like there was another big shoe to
drop in the quarterback drama.

Speaker 11 (43:30):
Right.

Speaker 1 (43:30):
I thought there was something else to come, and maybe
there is, maybe the inevitable, you know, sacred cow of
this program. Maybe the excitement of possibly having Aaron Rodgers
sign at some point will be there. But in my mind,
now you got four quarterback situations that are undecided going
into the NFL season, Steelers, the Browns, the Giants, and

(43:53):
the Saints. Steelers, I don't I'm not evenna pretend to
know what's going on there right now. I can't allow
my So we got a promo running with Dan Patrick
on and I have to agree with him. I don't
think the NFL puts the Steelers in as many primetime
slots as they did unless they knew that they were
gonna have the quarterback situation taken care of. I don't

(44:14):
think you reward them for having Mason Rudolph no offense.
Will Howard if you're listening, or Skyler Thompson. I mean,
this isn't twenty twenty Kansas State, for goodness sakes, this
isn't Big twelve football. The Browns, I mean by Flacco
and is there a chance for dg or Shador I
don't know. The Giants. I mean, Brian day Ball can

(44:37):
say Russell Wilson all he wants, but I don't think
you signed Jamis and then signed Russ and then draft
a quarterback you trade back into the first round, and
you allow those guys to play over him. I think
Jackson Dart's gonna win that job. And then the Saints
obviously hamstrung a bit by the Derek Carr injury and
eventual retirement, but it seems as if they're gonna have

(44:57):
a camp battle. So that's out of thirty two jobs
in the NFL and thirty two quarterback opportunities, only four
of them are up for grabs only for I mean,
I know that in Tennessee. Callahan will tell you, oh,
it's a battle. Now, it's cam Ward's job. You don't
take a quarterback number one, number one and not play him. So, Colts,

(45:18):
I guess, could you throw the Colt? Here's the question, Patrick,
could you throw the Colts in this mix of teams
that might have a quarterback situation?

Speaker 9 (45:26):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (45:26):
Yeah, absolutely?

Speaker 1 (45:27):
Okay, Okay, Well then let's add the Colts.

Speaker 4 (45:29):
To Yeah, Well, you don't know what you got with
Danny dimes in Anthony Richardson. I mean, honestly, it's who's
the bigger loser here.

Speaker 1 (45:36):
It's a good point. It's a good point.

Speaker 2 (45:38):
Though.

Speaker 1 (45:39):
The Colts did have I think the best pick in
the NFL Draft when they got Tyler Warren. But okay,
so add the Colts to that mix. If it's truly
a battle between Danny I'm sorry now that you say
Danny Dimes. It's one of those moments. Whe'm like, waits,
what's oh, Daniel Jones? That's right. If it's truly a
battle between Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson. And they drafted

(46:00):
Riley Leonard in the sixth round, I don't think he's
gonna factor into it. But I just kind of assumed
that it was Richardson's job. We saw what happened last year.
Dude asked out of a game. So you then have
five where you would say, okay, it's kind of up
in the air.

Speaker 4 (46:16):
Can I throw a fun one in there? There's probably
not gonna happen, but hey, hey, let's just have fun.
It's a nighttime. I'll throw in my team with Sam
Darnold and Jilen Milroe. Perhaps I know it's not gonna happen,
not this year at least.

Speaker 1 (46:32):
Well, interesting that you brought that up, because I guess
it would be confirmed that your general manager came out
and said Milrose for development. Now, oh yeah, everyone can
be for development or for the future. But if they
go out and a ball in the preseason, then you
never know. I mean, we all know the history. Matt

(46:54):
Flynn was supposed to be the quarterback Seahawks, and then
you know this, Russell Wilson came in and was the
guy Matt Flynn was supposed to be. The Raiders had
two of these, by the way. Matt Flynn was supposed
to come in and be the quarterback of the Raiders
and then a dude that eventually became a wide receiver,
Treel Prior, ended up being the guy. Matt shob was
supposed to be the quarterback and Derek Carr beat him
out in camp. You know, there's there's history to this

(47:16):
when you go out and you get a guy and
it just doesn't work. So we'll see. I think Sam
Darnold's gonna work in Seattle. I think they're gonna be good.
I think's gonna be fun. Well Adam too, that's fine,
and I like the kid too. And Jaylen Milroe is
gonna have a big time preseason. I think he's gonna
be a guy that he'll be jaw dropped by some
of the things he does. So eight seven, seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six six
three six nine. Of course, tonight is about the Knicks

(47:39):
moving on to the Eastern Conference Finals. Here was Josh
Hart talking after the game about the difference from Game
five to Game six. I feel like we just.

Speaker 12 (47:49):
Watched the film and I think we were kind of
discussed with our communication, our effort, our center, urgency to
start the game. So that's something that we just we
knew we had a We're able to get stops, We're
able to communicate better and transition and then get out
there and play, you know, play.

Speaker 1 (48:07):
Fast and have fun.

Speaker 12 (48:09):
And I think that was the biggest thing that we
just focused on, was just our communication and defensive transition.

Speaker 1 (48:15):
And of course for TIBs, his team has found ways
to win games in different ways.

Speaker 2 (48:21):
You've got to win games different ways, so every game
is different. Then there's there's really no carryover from one
game to the next other than you have to be
ready to win that game that particular night and understand
you know what you need to do in order to
do that. And I think when you understand that part
of it and you understand how important your preparation is,

(48:44):
that gives yourself the best chance to win.

Speaker 1 (48:47):
Yeah, there you go, nanks for moving on one nineteen
eighty one. They'll score off against the Pacers and the
Eastern Conference finals that start on Wednesday. All right, Poppy
is in the house. It's time for Poppy's picks. Evening, Poppy,
how are things on San Diego, Bud?

Speaker 11 (49:03):
They're beautiful, even though you know the padres, you know
the light bluff and you know it's okay.

Speaker 1 (49:09):
You know how you been? How was your week? Pop?
Did you have a good week?

Speaker 11 (49:13):
I had a good week playing? Yeah, thanks Anne, I
had a good week. You know San Diego FC. You
know soccer, the MLS, and they did. They're not three
game winning streak and doing amazing.

Speaker 1 (49:22):
Are you making money on the San Diego FC team
with your picks or now?

Speaker 11 (49:27):
Oh of course making that bling bling you know? Actually
this one day they were favorite one ninety. I'm not
surprised to learn the winning streak and talking about them
the Pigs. Tomorrow San Diego, he's actually going to be
playing at home and we're going to ride away from
We're gonna go with San Diego FC, their favorite, but
we're going to go with them. And another thing that

(49:49):
I was going to talk to you about I know
you're talking basketball. Another week for you guys. You're talking
about basketball, the New Yorker celebration. Yeah cool, Yeah, Okay,
fans tracking crazy. I would expect them. Bad job on
hearing the Nickabocker fans. You guys should do that when
you're going to the finals? Are you guys kidding me?
You g has a joke. But talking about the game
that's more important. It's on Sunday, it's your team. Plank

(50:12):
the Oklahoma Thunder against the Denver Nuggets right right now,
the current line, plank, it's minus eight, right.

Speaker 1 (50:20):
I saw that, and the Aaron Gordon injury I think
factors into that as well. What do you think, yo?

Speaker 11 (50:25):
Well, you know what. I think that's good news for
you guys. And there's going to be another thing I'll say,
wait on plank on betting, wait until I'm telling everyone,
wait till Sunday morning, six am Pacific time, when they
say the official report for the rep's going to be.
I told you guys this last week, and I'll say
it again this week. I expect Scott Bosser being on there.

(50:48):
He's on the report. Planks, it's over Thunder gonna win
because just think about it, Adam Silver. I bet Adam Silver,
and I know Adam Silver. Things. Look, the Oklahoma Thunder
did a record you know season historically. You know you've
got Alexander the MVP, right Yeah, And you think Adam
Silver is not going to want to send them to

(51:10):
the Western Conference Finals. No, he's going to give them
a little help. And who's that going to help? It's
gonna be Scott Boss's so Minors Day. I'm really loving
Oklahoma Thunder to go to the Western Finals and go
and represent you know, I mean, he's the MVP.

Speaker 1 (51:26):
He's the MVP. Thanks, Poppy, have a great week, buddy.
Is Is it okay that I don't have a problem
that Poppy calls him the Oklahoma Thunder and not the
Oklahoma City Thunder. Is it okay that I'm not mad
about that? I'm fine. It's okay.

Speaker 4 (51:40):
It combines both your favorite things in life, the Boomers
and your Thunder.

Speaker 1 (51:44):
I'm fine with it. There's no issues at all on
that front. I I don't know how to feel. I
don't know how to feel. I'm not gonna lie. There's
I know. Tonight NBA talk is for the Knicks. Now, okay,
before I get into let me be rewind a little bit.
Let's just go around the horn on this one. And

(52:04):
I think this is a fair question. They're crowdsurfing, tearing
stuff up to celebration. The Knicks are going to the
Eastern Conference Finals. They didn't win the title, they didn't
make a trip to the finals. They made a trip
to the Eastern Conference Finals. I get a little celebration,

(52:25):
high five, huggin, then you go home. This is I mean,
I got the scanner on. I'm listening to Darien Braks, Baby,
let's go Is it over the top? You know, Marcus,
I always start with Bree or Patrick, I'll start with you.
Is this an over the top celebration for what should
be the expectation for a team like the Knicks in
a franchise like the Knicks every single year?

Speaker 5 (52:46):
Based on what you guys are talking about, it sounds
like they are way over the top because they've been
starved for so long and they've lost their mind with happiness.
They haven't come back down to get with reality saying,
oh wait, have to win four more games, So they're
out of their mind with excitement because they're so happy
that they have a team that hung in there and

(53:08):
got past this first I guess fish wrung first hump
of what has gone on. So they've lost their mind
a little bit, but hopefully, hopefully they'll calm down after
they get out of jail or whatever they do.

Speaker 1 (53:21):
I my point has always been the act like you've
been their mindset right. But in fairness, they haven't been
the Eastern Conference final since two thousand. They haven't won
a title since nineteen seventy three. Patrick Swaga and for
Brianna Tonight over the top are all good with the
way New York's reacting.

Speaker 4 (53:41):
Honestly, the fact that they're just getting to just the
Eastern Conference Finals, not even the finals, is way over
the top. I don't care if they're starved or whatever.

Speaker 9 (53:52):
You got it.

Speaker 4 (53:53):
You at some point you got to act like you've
been there, unless you're beating like your your like your
blood rive like the only way I can advocate and
be like, no, this is a fair reaction, like that
when our Dodgers plank beat the Padres, you know exactly
when Key K did the you know the and we're
all going crazy. That's a valid and justified reaction. Maybe

(54:16):
people disagree but I think that's justified. The Knicks just
beat the Celtics. Great, granted it's the Celtics, but come on,
like you're just going to the you gotta still play
two more series at worst, come on the top so poppy.

Speaker 1 (54:28):
It sounds like you've got a you've got agreement with
two thirds of the crew tonight. I is it a
little over the top shirt. But it's New York and
it's the Knicks, and I think that's what happens now.
I think Adam Silver's got to be excited, because I
do think the Knicks are one of those franchises that,
even though they haven't been relevant for twenty five years, right,

(54:50):
and byrelevant, I mean making the Eastern Conference Finals, it's
still a brand and it's still I think one of
those teams where you say, when x T is good,
the league is better. I think, and I know this
is this is pain pain. When the Cowboys are good,
the NFL is better, better, ratings, more money, big sponsors. Yes,

(55:15):
when the Knicks are good, when the Lakers are good,
the NBA is better, better for business. And I'm not
really I think in the NBA, I'm not a big market,
size guy fight with Arnie about that all the time.
I don't think it matters as much in the NBA,
but when you're able to get it as an added caveat.
And let's let's also add to this, you got a

(55:35):
in Jalen Brunson. You got a superstar Tyre's Halliburton. I
think you got a superstar. You do have two rock
stars going at it in the Houstern Conference Finals. But
back to the original point, is it over the top
for the Knicks and the fans? Maybe? But I mean, hell,
this is a franchise that lost their mind one season
when they started like five to oh, so, I mean

(55:57):
I think they were ready to ride in the streets
start fiving old baby. So congratulations to the Knicks. But
I guess the verdict tonight is in favor of calm
yourselves down. I love it. I love it. I love
the videos. I don't think we need to be climbing
light poles and burning couches or anything of that nature.

(56:18):
But it's a baby step in the right direction. Now
I gotta break because I want to listen to the
police scanner for a little bit and see how many
of you are getting arrested here tonight. I do want
to remind you first though. Now we got our YouTube
channel that is up and running. It's really good. There's
tons of great videos from many of our Fox Sports
Radio shows. You can search Fox Sports Radio on YouTube
and you'll see a whole bunch of highlight video highlights

(56:39):
from our shows. And be sure to subscribe so you
always have instant access to all of our Fox Sports
Radio videos on YouTube. Now, something interesting happened in the
NFL schedule release nobody's talking about, and it involves the
end of an era. We'll talk about it next Fox

(57:01):
Sports Radio. I'm watching all the videos from Knicks fans
losing their mind. It's madness. It's madness in Manhattan. Knicks
are eight wins away from a championship and their fans
are treating this like they just actually won the title.

(57:22):
What are we doing? Well, Hey, you're in the finals
in the Eastern Conference Finals. I'll tell you what though,
I got to give it up. I'm here from a
Boston fan tonight before I hear from a drunken New
York Knick fan. How about that blind Scott Persevering battling
through one of the best callers in the history of
sports radio. Is in the house with us. What's going on,
blind Scott? How are you? Oh hey, Chris.

Speaker 13 (57:44):
Yeah, I've waited on hold on radio shows for thirty
five hours. This week, I've done twenty three phone calls.
I think, wow, like eighteen different states maybe, But dude
to one thing. I get to tell you, man, it
is upsetting to see this New York city and them celebrate.
I mean, I can't stand that city. I'm from Boston.
The city's a lot better here. It's smaller, it's more content,

(58:07):
it has better colleges. It's more just a better place
in generally, you know, Like I live actually on the
corner where the Celtics play, so I do. It's bittersweet
for me like that they're eliminated. I mean, we won
last year, but I was really worried about having to
deal with the fans when before they go in the game,
they don't move out of the way. A bunch of
Knicks fans were like really taunting me the other day

(58:29):
before the game, and I don't I didn't mind that,
but you know, it's it's just I thought they were
going to win this year. When Jason Tatum's achilles blew up,
like as a disabled person who went blind like in
his twenties. You know, I feel for the guy because
that's that could be like a real injury that affects
him for the rest of his life. I mean, I

(58:49):
assure he's going to come back. You know, they can
do all types of stuff now too. I don't think
he's going to do this, but he could cheat to
come back, you know what I mean, like some hgh
or some Uh did.

Speaker 1 (59:00):
They even test for that in the NBA, I don't know.

Speaker 13 (59:03):
Yeah, yeah, like Patrick Ewing, he was from Cambridge, like
I think he was like twenty three when he was
in high school here.

Speaker 1 (59:09):
You know.

Speaker 13 (59:10):
So they're kind of thing. They let everything, they let
everything slide. But uh, there's not a lot of New
York Knicks fans that are I don't think necessary listening
because in the Triston area, WFN has an overnight show.

Speaker 9 (59:20):
So these are.

Speaker 13 (59:21):
All like Long Island people too. You've seen them, like
you know New York Jets fans. They all think they're
in the soprano. It's like, uh, you know what aid
in the box means, Like if you I don't know
what that means, but if you're a New York Jets fan.
That's something they ask you. So these these are real
hard courts sports fans. They definitely deserve it. But they're
the most obnoxious people on the face of their New Yorkers.

(59:42):
They think this is a city, This is a New
York city, the most the biggest city in the world.
And looks how they're celebrating, Like you're embarrassing your whole city,
you know what I mean, you look like clowns. Like
you look at this celebrity row too. What's the guy's
named John Starks or whatever? The old really bad next player,
Why is he like recognized? He blew you remember he

(01:00:04):
blew that game six that time for the Knicks. You know,
he's one of the biggest embarrassments in New York Knicks
sister ats, I hope the Knicks beat the Pacers because
the Pacers will run them off the court. Though, you
know what I mean, they run, they run. They're like
a really fast team. They run up and down. They'll
they'll they'll beat them. This guy, Jalen Bronson, he's so overrated.

(01:00:26):
I mean, at one point they had the whole Villanova
basketball team on the New York Knicks team. I thought
Luke Cornett was gonna come and that was so corny
when Louke Cornett came in and the Celtics fan were like,
he saved the day. So I'll wrap it up with this.
This is what happens to night. When the Celtics came out.
As soon as they saw the Knicks had that fire
at him, they had a little bit of quitting them.
They pictured their suitcases packed. They were on their way

(01:00:48):
to the Bahamas already in their mind. But the thing is,
the Celtics just got sold for six point eight billion
dollars and nobody in their right mind would pay a
five hundred million dollar luxury tax. If you say the
Celtic should pay that, you're just completely stupid. So this
team might get blown up, right like Chris, you know
more than I do.

Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
I would.

Speaker 9 (01:01:06):
I just picked up.

Speaker 13 (01:01:07):
I listened to the radio, like, so I pick all
this stuff up. This is other people's takes that I've
been saying for the fat past few minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
No, but hey, blind Scott, have a great weekend, buddy.
I appreciate you still finding time even even in adverse
situations and challenging times. Blind Scott still checks in. So
I was I've been reading all these blowing up the
Boston Celtics articles during the program tonight, just during breaks
when I'm not fighting my TV, and I just I

(01:01:36):
hear you. The luxury tax is going to be significant.
But I also think when you purchase a team for
six billion dollars, you do so with the understanding that, hey,
we're probably going to end up having to shell out
this type of money to be successful. So I guess,

(01:02:00):
you know, back in the day, the big thing was
always if you think about Lob City and the Clippers,
everyone alway said, but they're gona blow themut, they gota
blow that team up. But there weren't really moves it
could have been made. Everyone was pretty much under contract,
and eventually they did blow it up and move on.
But they weren't coming off a title. And I get it.
I understand. I understand you just lost your arrival. It's

(01:02:22):
a new ownership group, very frustrating, but I don't. I
don't think Scott, They're gonna go in and just suddenly
whack Drew Holiday or see you Christop, We'll see what
porzingis looks like. Actually, suddenly they're not gonna pay Jalen
Brown suddenly they're gonna say, you know what, We're gonna
try to get a better pick in the draft next

(01:02:43):
year and the lottery. I can't fathom that with the
Boston Celtics, but I get the frustration. I get it.
You just want a title and you got knocked out
by the Knicks. And now you have Nick fans, as
as much as they're celebrating this, who they can look
back to last year and say, oh, we would have

(01:03:04):
taken care of you if we had the shot. Last year,
we just weren't healthy. Now look what happens now. And
I know the counter is that Tatum got hurt too,
But then the Knicks fans can counter back with, well,
we were on our way to being up three to
one anyway, and we won two games with Jason Tatum
out there whenever you were up by twenty. So this

(01:03:24):
could be a good old fashioned back and forth, a
sports fight, and I'm sure it's going to be, and
I'm sure it will be for a long time. But
if you want to have the true upper hand, Knicks fans,
you got to finish this. Hey, you knocked the Celtics
out of the series or out of the playoffs. You
won the series. That's great, but your celebration does not

(01:03:45):
match a team that just won a series. Your celebration
looks like a team that just won a national championship,
a world title. So it's one of those to where
it's like, hey, great, congrats on knocking out your rival,
but they did carry that over to it title. Now
you got to take care of Indiana and then the
winner of the thunder Nuggets slash t Wolves, which, by

(01:04:07):
the way, I do think it's gonna be okay see
in Minnesota, but we'll see. You realize you wanted to
know a wild stat You know, Minnesota, the Chimberwolves are
on their way to the Western Conference Finals and back
to back seasons. You know you pull back, Well, that's right,
back to back seasons Timberwolves have made the Western Conference Finals.
You know that hasn't happened for one of the Big
four in Minnesota since the Minnesota north Stars did it

(01:04:31):
going back to back to conference finals, conference championship in
consecutive seasons. Like I thought the Twins might have done it, No,
and then they didn't go the al Cs and back
to back years. Apparently I thought that maybe the Vikings
had done it. You know they had that sneaky the

(01:04:51):
Minnesota Miracle, and they had a couple of teams like
Brad Johnson and Randall Cunningham. We're like, oh, they're pretty good. No,
that happened since the Minnesota freaking north Stars. Now you
have the Timberwolves and Ann Edwards. Unreal, unreal. Okay, let
me pay off my tease. It's The Plank Show overnight
all night here on Fox Sports Radio. Briand is out,

(01:05:14):
Patrick's filling in, Mark's running the show. Your call's coming
up at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine ninety six six three six nights. Schedule
release was on Wednesday. Now I have if you want
to get into the nuts and bolts of it, I
have issues with the schedule release in general. For me personally,
I don't like the leaks. I don't like the slow drip.

(01:05:37):
I don't think you need to announce, Hey, this is
gonna be the first primetime game. Here's your international games.
Just release the schedule and the schedule release Twitter feed
that Twitter sites are are even worse. So I try
to avoid it all and just immerse myself. When it's
released on Wednesday, and I noticed that once again, it

(01:05:57):
seemed like the Dallas Cowboy were all over my a
team kind of primetime games, Dallas Cowboys were everywhere, But
apparently it wasn't as much as it maybe could have been, because,
according to an article that won Richard Diisch wrote for

(01:06:18):
The Athletic, they did not They didn't take the Cowboys
as much as it might seem. Michael Mulvill admitted in
an article by Richard Diisch that the network was actually
fine with letting go of some Cowboys games in order
to diversify the late afternoon window on Fox and feature more.

(01:06:43):
This is the term true contenders ouch ouch. The Dallas
Cowboys will be in six primetime games this season, along
with featured games on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, which means
yet nine games that will not be nationally broadcast. However, However,

(01:07:08):
since the Cowboys are such a draw of the league's
broadcasting partners, know they're gonna get a piece of the pie.
They're gonna get a lot of the marquee matchups, but
not as many as they typically do. Cowboys will have
four games with the NFL and Fox. Tom Brady the
a team right with who is an Aaron Andrews that's

(01:07:28):
the Sideline reporter. But Michael Malivell says, our four to
twenty five games, only three of them are Cowboy games. Three.
In other years we've gone looking for five or six
Dallas games at four to twenty five, when that's four
to twenty five Eastern. By the way, what we wanted

(01:07:49):
for this year was more AFC, more Philly, but also
more Detroit and a little more Washington to try to
capitalize on the Jane Daniels story. I think we have
a better mix of teams than we've had in the past.
Sometimes we've heard exasperation from fans that the Fox four
to twenty five game is always the Cowboys. It's still

(01:08:11):
going to be the Cowboys sometimes this year, but you'll
see a little more variety in terms of the top
teams in the four to twenty five window. And again
you're still going to have the Cowboys crammed down your throat.
Like I mentioned, what have the number four to five?
You know times that they're still in that window. But

(01:08:33):
Fox is Fox has actually fallen behind CBS and the
ratings I mean, and it's got to be something that's
enraging because Fox pays the NFL more for their NFC
rights package. But the AFC star power, especially with the quarterbacks,
has overcome those deficits in the overall TV deal. So

(01:09:00):
I'm not here to tell you that America's team is
no longer America's team. That's not the case. For those
of you listening on Sports Radio thirteen ten the ticket
in Dallas, that's not my point. We did the cow
I live in a market. I live in a market
where if the Cowboys were one in sixteen going into
the final game of the regular season, and there were

(01:09:21):
two teams that were sixteen and oh playing each other,
I would still get the Cowboys game. That's the kind
of market. I live in a market where Dallas is
king and that's fine. I've accepted it, no big deal.
I get the tickets, so I'm okay. At least the
red zone. I become more of a red zone fan
because if I get the ticket, I only want to

(01:09:42):
watch the Raiders game. If I'm really in the league,
I want to watch a ticket. I want to watch
are the red zone. I want to watch all the
games that are going on. But this is interesting because
I would say Fox's willingness to punt a little bit
on the Cowboys might be a good sign that A
finally gonna get more diversity in that slot. And B

(01:10:03):
boy Fox if they don't feel good about the Cowboys
and we're talking about nerds, Okay, these are numbers nerds,
these are ratings dorks. These are people that understand what
the movement of the market is. Yes, this is a
lot on scheduling, but just let me put a rap
on it here. I mean, is it fair to say, guys,

(01:10:25):
that we might be finally getting to a point where
the NFL understands that there's more to their league than
just cramming Cowboys games down our throats all the time. Now,
I don't think the four letter has quite got this
memo yet. I don't think. I don't think this is
going to minimize the talk of is Dak Prescott elite?
I mean, for goodness sakes, pft, commoner became famous with

(01:10:49):
the Joe Flacco elite conversation. I feel like we can
now try to double down on that with asking consistently
is Dak Prescott elite? I mean, that's where we are
anymore on the four letter constant NFL conversations. But for me,
I think if you start looking at some of the evidence.
You have to wonder, is Jerry's mismanagement starting to hurt
the brand? You're always gonna make money. You're always gonna

(01:11:12):
make money. Cowboys are always gonna make money. But overall,
if a TV network is looking at the biggest investors
in the league outside of owners, maybe even bigger. Right
if you look at the TV rights packages, they might
have more invested than some owners too, when you look
at the full length of the contracts. Has it finally done?

(01:11:34):
Has Jerry's unwillingness over the last few years to go
try to make a splash? Has there roster mistakes that
they've made. Is it finally costing the Cowboys more than
just wins and losses? Maybe so? Now, the magic thing
in anything, the magic elixir in anything in sports is winning, winning,

(01:11:57):
and it fits everywhere. Hey, you tee of the Bill
Belichick's story, me too. You know what's gonna end it? No,
not an an intervention front office sports. You don't need
a freaking crisis therapist to go in there. You know
what you need to do. You need to win. Then
nobody's gonna talk about it that. It goes back to
him having a hot girlfriend. You know what, it would

(01:12:18):
have saved the Pac twelve. You know what have saved
the Pac twelve winning championships in football. You know what
they didn't do as it crumbled, win championships in football.
You know what helps the Cowboys more than anything else,
winning win games. Jerry Jones hasn't seemed to get that
over the last few years. But I wonder, all right,

(01:12:40):
go around the horn on this one, then we'll break.
I know we're up against it. Patrick, Is the sign
of Fox pulling back some of those four to twenty
five Eastern time slots from the Cowboys? Is it a
sign that the luster is lost? The shine is dimming
on the big star in Dallas?

Speaker 4 (01:12:55):
Honestly, I kind of think it's kind of like the
luster's kind of and off, because listen, when have the
the Cowboys are all we damn boys? You know, It's
like you've seen the probably the meme of they start
here where it's like, oh, we damn Boys, and then
all of a sudden they lose in the division. It's like,
oh wait, we're definitely not. It's it's our time, and
it's like a clock.

Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
It's sure.

Speaker 4 (01:13:16):
I think the luster's going bad on them.

Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
Already gone.

Speaker 4 (01:13:19):
It's it's the lust.

Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
Let's be real when the TV networks turn on you
yeah and again, and then let's be fair. They still
have the maximum amount of primetime games that you are allowed.
But whenever Fox is saying, oh, no, dude, I think
we need to diversify our portfolio, it says something to me.

Speaker 4 (01:13:36):
Yeah, just because if Fox is saying no, like in
Fox and the Cowboys, it's like it's like chocolate and
peanut butter. It just always goes together. If they're saying
now we're good.

Speaker 5 (01:13:45):
Oh, when Dallas can't hold up their end of the bargain,
like you know, talking about baseball within football, when Dallas
can't get up and get a hit as being a pinchator,
when they can't pull their weight, the networks are going,
we don't really, we can't count on them to hold
up their end of the bargain.

Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
Craig cal Craig on Twitter asks a good question. Someone
needs to tell me how does the NFL schedule Detroit,
Kansas City and Kansas City. Again, it's just have the
schedule plays out, man. There there is a formula that
they go by a year. And now when they added
the seventeenth game, it's one division will play the other,
and you'll play the team that finished in the same

(01:14:29):
spot that you did the year before. So it's it's
they've got a Formula two and I'm not smart enough
to figure it out, but all that it's it seems
to me that whenever you think about Dallas and you
are a fan like many that are tired of it,
because you want to see you want to see good football,
you want to see winning teams. There you go, how

(01:14:52):
about two? I mean, there was so many shots taking
cowboy fans at you this week. One more quick one
everyone was why would you put Allas and Philly in
the opening weekend? What are you doing? And the NFL
schedule maker comes out and says, well, these matchups, as
marquis as they are, have been affected by injuries and
teams not being very good. Now I might I might

(01:15:13):
have spiced up the latter part of that comment, but yeah, where.

Speaker 4 (01:15:16):
It's true though, that's actually true.

Speaker 1 (01:15:19):
It's just get it while they're good. And when is
Dallas for certain going to be good first game of
the season. From that point forward, we shall see all
right eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven
seven nine ninety six six three six night. I got
some good tweets. We'll get to next. Right here, it's
a Plank Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right, welcome
back into the Plank Show here on Fox Sports Radio

(01:15:40):
through the night, all night on FSR. Brianna is out today,
so no Breeze three tonight those No Breeze three. I
got a couple of a couple of NFL nees. We'll
get to in a segment two of our three. Mike
the Leprechahn is on hold. I'm not real big on
teasing calls, but I feel like we got some tension
in the air to night with Celtics fans. So tis

(01:16:02):
tis all good? Tis all good. Twitter has been a
fun place as well at Plank Show. That's at Plank
Show is the best way to get in touch with
the program. Let's see here, Craig. Craig had more than
just the schedule question. He goes, Okay, here we go.
Nicks needed to win tonight or they would have caught
it from everyone from you to Steven A. If Gordon's

(01:16:26):
out in the thunder game, Jo Kich is gonna have
to go for sixty to thirty and twenty for the
Nuggets to win and pretty for five all right, Purty
five years for two sixty five, mister irrelevant is now legit.
Boom boom boom. Craig hit all the big stories tonight. Okay.
First of all, absolutely one hundred percent. Had the Knicks

(01:16:49):
lost tonight, it would have set up I mean, grip
City in Game seven. I think Game seven they would
have turned around and played it on Monday. But if
if they would have had to worry about going back
to Boston for a Game seven, lookout, I think I
think Blind Scott hit it on the head. I think
Boston came out early on, got punched in the face

(01:17:11):
and couldn't match the intensity and just tapped out and
it was over. But you're right, they needed this tonight.
And you know the thing is, they're big in games
like tonight for the Knicks, games like tomorrow for the
Thunder and the Nuggets, games like Wednesday Game one for

(01:17:32):
the Pacers and the Knicks. You need your best players.
This is gonna now you guys. This might need to
be a promo, okay, because I don't think anyone has
ever said this before in the history of sports radio.
Your best players have to be your best players. You cannot.
You need your supporting cast to play well, but you
need your stars to be stars, and they were tonight
for the Knicks. Unfortunately for the Celtics, they weren't too

(01:17:56):
big of a hole to dig out of it. Now,
Aaron Gordon is doubtful for Sunday's Game seven against the Thunder.
According to a myriad of reports out there, Gordon he's
been he's been playing well in the postseason sixteen point
eight points per game, seven boards, and hit that game

(01:18:17):
winning three against the Thunder in Game one. And here's
a wild stat for you. The Nuggets are five and
oh this postseason when Aaron Gordon scores at least twenty
points and his seven assists that he had in Game
six tied for the most of his playoff career. I mean,
he's been injured most of the season. He sat out

(01:18:41):
two longer stretches this year. Had to write calf strain
that he's been managing. But it was a weird moment
in the game too, because it was like a minute
left and it was pretty much over. But you never
know with the explosiveness of OKC and you know, they
just hit a couple of threes and Denver just did
not managed a late game well. But he's going for

(01:19:03):
a loose ball and just comes up lame. In fact,
the ball ended up hitting off his leg and going
out of bounds, and he stayed in the game. That's
the craziest part of it. He stayed in the game
after that happened. That's major. And here's I'm knocking on
wood because you just never know. Here's the wild thing.
Chet Holmgreen got hurt early this season for Oka see

(01:19:26):
Hartenstein's was deemed up early in the year. OKAC has
been incredibly solid in avoiding the injury bug. They just
it hasn't been an issue. Everyone else, seemingly in this
playoffs have been affected by it in some way, shape
or form. OKAYC has been pretty clean, so either you know,

(01:19:48):
I tend to find whenever team's go on championship runs
outside of Jeff Hostetler in for Phil Simms, that you
look back and when you look at their season, you
kind of realize how healthy they stayed. And I think
that's something with the thunder that people don't talk about
a lot. They've stayed incredibly healthy this entire season, and

(01:20:09):
you know, it's just we'll see how it pans out
come tomorrow. I thought they looked like the fresher team
in Game five. I thought they looked like a team
that were that was playing a Game seven on no
sleep in game six. It's gonna be a fun one.
We'll talk about it more next hour plus. There's rumors
and conspiracy theories out there about the inn be a lottery.

(01:20:31):
I'll give you in place of Breeze. Three's my all
time greatest sports conspiracies. Next on Fox Sports Radio, Guy
the next what is Jason Smith always say? Nix Yoh,
the Knicks won the title tonight. Based on the way
they're celebrating, congratulations, your third NBA title took a while

(01:20:53):
to get here. Apparently, Jalen Brunson's the greatest Nick of
all time. Will say, act like you've been there and
not be nice. They haven't been there in a long time,
first time in twenty five years. I don't know how
I would act if that was my team. It's not
so as the night is gone, it's it's fair to say.

(01:21:14):
And with Breout, Patrick Zan and we kind of share
the same feeling on this. It's fun. I'm happy for
Knicks fans Arnie span You're my buddy. On Sunday nights,
Every Sunday night from ten p to one a Central Time,
we host a show called Arnie and Plank. And he's
off this weekend because he's on vacation. So I'm happy
for him that he has a vacation. I'm sad that

(01:21:36):
he's not able to finally talk about the Knicks winning
when they actually win. So my my view on Knicks
fans is Jason Smith and Arnie Spany And that's the
two Knicks fans that I know in my life pretty much,
the only two I've met, I think in person my
whole life, and I think it kind of fits like, oh,
I love this guy, and then they're like otherwise, like gosh,

(01:21:56):
they're so they can't stand this guy, right, I mean,
that's Knicks fan. It is awesome. Look at him celebrating.
That's cool. It's it's sid What a win.

Speaker 4 (01:22:04):
I mean you playing?

Speaker 9 (01:22:06):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (01:22:07):
Pretty good? That's pretty good? Pretty good?

Speaker 4 (01:22:09):
God, you had you had to bust it out at
least once, at least.

Speaker 1 (01:22:11):
One tonight, thirty eight point win. They lost two games
by twenty and came back from twenty down to two games.
It makes no sense, It makes no sense. Oh my goodness,
do you want to get I don't know if Knicks
fans are are in tonight. I don't know if you
guys are elated, you're over the top emotional. Whatever it

(01:22:36):
is I'm happy for. You might need to chill out
a little bit because the Eastern Conference Finals start on Wednesday.
And while I'm excited to see what the matter is,
what the garden is gonna look like, I also wonder
if you do realize you did not win the title tonight.
I mean, we're good, right, Knicks fans were good, you
didn't win the title. Kim Gots though, got a game

(01:22:56):
seven tomorrow we'll be talking about and I got a
lot of NFL and I want you get used to
rack your brain here because coming up in exactly fifteen
minutes from now, fifteen minutes, we're going to tackle the
conspiracy around the NBA Draft lottery and ask a very

(01:23:17):
simple question. This is Hackey Radio. Ben Maller would disown
me as one of his prodigies if he knew this
favorite most believable sports conspiracy theory. You buy into you
put that tenfoil cap on, do you buy the frozen envelope.
This is the kind of topic that's made for summer radio.
But I got all in this week because I started

(01:23:37):
buying into great conspiracy theories and there's more out there
than I even realized. Like there's some of them. There's
some of them that I thought, whoa wait, hold on
what what? So eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
We'll get into that coming up, And just to be
is there anything else you guys feel like I'm leaving
out as far as the major stories. I just I've

(01:23:57):
been so sucked in by the Nixon Celtics. And I know,
for the most part, my overnight audience doesn't care for
my Nick Saban conversation or any of my college football rules.
No one cares about the Elte conversation. Whenever it comes
to what are they going to do with the overall
nil deals being? Nobody cares about that. But I think

(01:24:18):
we're good. I think we're good. So let's get Mike
the lepren in here. We're due for a little fun
this hour. What's going on? Mike? How are you?

Speaker 9 (01:24:27):
I'll play you at tune in a mirrte. Good morning, Griss,
Good morning, Mike, How are you good? Morning, Good morning,
and good morning. The Celtics shucks last night. I mustn't.
I mean, like blind Scotts correctly pointed out, they came
in to fight, but then they backed off and the
attacked their bands or Hawaii whatever, it's true, but anyway,

(01:24:52):
you just had a good point. The New York bands
are probably all sleeping in the celebrating. And I went
to bed in the third quarter just to be up
for your show because the game was basically over. It
was over a half time.

Speaker 1 (01:25:08):
Well that's when I fell asleep, So I'm glad that
it was over.

Speaker 9 (01:25:12):
Yes, you made some big news.

Speaker 1 (01:25:14):
What's that?

Speaker 9 (01:25:16):
Hen prisoners escaped from a jail in louis Louisiana, and
there's still seven of them? Yeah what escape? Yes? And
that okay, okay, then and.

Speaker 1 (01:25:30):
Then hold on, no you can't. You can't bring this
up and then just try to move on from it.
They escaped, They escaped through a wall where the toilet was.
They capt Now you said they've captured. How many of
them they this this story has three have been.

Speaker 9 (01:25:45):
Captured, they caught, they caught three, but that's seven on
the loose. Well, Louisiana. That Louisiana for you.

Speaker 1 (01:25:54):
Had on a swivel. New Orleans had on a swivel tonight.
All right, So what else you got for me tonight, Mike, Oh.

Speaker 9 (01:25:59):
I have a lot more Dallas Maverick conspiracy theory, one
chance of winning just on the same exact few months
that they give away Luca Luca. I mean that's clearly fishy.

Speaker 1 (01:26:12):
I would say fishy, especially whenever you consider how little
they got in return. Now, if the Lakers would have
been able to keep if the Lakers would have been who,
if the Lakers would have been able to keep Anthony
Davis in that deal, then I think we really really
would have had something more as far as conspiracies on
that front.

Speaker 9 (01:26:31):
Anthony Davis is a piece of person. I mean, his
side jokes. I'm going to la, I'm going okay, blind
Scox tons it down for your show, just so you.

Speaker 1 (01:26:40):
Know, tones it down.

Speaker 9 (01:26:42):
What do you mean he told you should hear him
on the Ben Valor Show. He's obscene and he's always
grama queen and no do you ever listen to the
Ben Valor show anyway?

Speaker 1 (01:26:55):
Well, yeah, but I like to sleep. I mean I listen.
Bin's my favorite. But I'll catch the pot cast every
now and then. But I like Mike Sleep, I'm.

Speaker 9 (01:27:03):
Okay, I'm inviting and I'm an invited guest to Ben
Mallor early July. I've already I'm sending my I have
to play my songs. Okay, I'm going to go to
La July. I'm not going to stop at the newer
UH Airport. I'm not planning, but I'm going to stop

(01:27:24):
over at the Oklahoma.

Speaker 1 (01:27:27):
You're coming through Oklahoma? Are you driving or flying?

Speaker 9 (01:27:30):
No? I'm flying. I'm going to stop at Oklahoma. Is
that where the Oklahoma does a team from Oklahoma? Okay,
the Oklahoma.

Speaker 10 (01:27:37):
Don't abell, don't stop.

Speaker 1 (01:27:40):
This now, don't don't go already span your ar mean
you know better, Michael Leprechaun see Oklahoma City. All right,
play your song and get out.

Speaker 9 (01:27:48):
No, no, no, Patrick, Patrick, Patrick, do your job. The
bill that bill'll check with say, do your job right now?

Speaker 1 (01:27:59):
What's he not doing for you, Mike Hi, I.

Speaker 9 (01:28:02):
Wrote the song. I wrote the song, and I played
go for it all you remember last week I was
tuning up No I'm better and I even rewounded. It
was going to be with the words I mean, But
now I did Pat Petty, he said, Okay, it's called
twin Cold frank Co.

Speaker 1 (01:28:20):
Okay, Planko, Planko, here we go, plank of world debut
of Planco Blanco.

Speaker 9 (01:28:26):
Petty, you all the tat good care of me after
even than Brian.

Speaker 11 (01:28:41):
No, thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
Michael Lepreca, have an awesome night, my man. I don't
know if he has a hit on his hand with
that or not, but it was at least an attempt. Okay,
So now he's got me in on these these prison escapees?
Are we sports radio show? Am I allowed to talk
about this?

Speaker 4 (01:29:00):
I'm still reeling from all right, you do your job?
What am I doing?

Speaker 1 (01:29:07):
I think he was mad because Mark was playing the
sound effects over.

Speaker 4 (01:29:13):
As he should have. Those were great sounds.

Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
Mighty, Oh my gosh. They have video of this hold on.
This is just ruined the rest of my night. So
if you're wondering the story, then Mike the Leprechaun has
brought to the show tonight, which is probably up there
with his sports takes. Ten inmates broke out of a
New Orleans jail Friday, escaping through a hole that was

(01:29:35):
in a cell wall. The inmates were then seen on
surveillance video leaving through a door on the loading dock,
having shed their orange jail uniforms. They have the names
here the Chief's office. The Sheriff's Office warned that the
remaining escape he should be considered armed and dangerous. What

(01:29:57):
are we doing? A civilian employee of the Shriff's office
was the only person monitoring security systems in the part
of the jail where the escape occurred, had left his
station at the time to get food. Three Sheriff's Office
employees have been suspended without pay. Well, it didn't take

(01:30:18):
them long to suspend those dudes without pay. Officials said
they were investigating multiple security failures. The jail was placed
on lockdown. It was placed on lockdown the night before
the escape. The inmates began tampering with a locked cell
door and ultimately broke it open. The officer blames defective

(01:30:39):
locks and doors. Oh my gosh, what are we doing?
I mean, they literally ripped a toilet out of the wall.
Thank you, Michael Leprechaun. I'm sure there's people that are
yelling at me right now. I was like, hey, plank,
spitch story, but talking about all day long, not me,
not me, Okay, it's news to me, and I find

(01:31:02):
it fascinating. Uh oh oh, now we've got the WWLTV wonders.

Speaker 4 (01:31:08):
Was it an inside job? Okay, well, I guess you
could say some of these theories have gone down the crapper.
Yeah good, very good, very good, very good. Huh Okay,
we'll be on the lookout of Noline. They got they
got three of them, there's still seven on the loose.
We did you know what we need? We need a

(01:31:29):
good police.

Speaker 1 (01:31:30):
Chase in Los Angeles tonight to go along with our
good prison break story. Hope everyone's safe though, no, no
if Ann's or Butt's, no joking about it, because, as
Arnie Spaniel would say, be safe out there all right.
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine ninety six sixty three six nine. As always, it's funny.
Get involved with the program. On Twitter tonight, we've been

(01:31:51):
talking a lot about the win for the Boston for
the New York Knicks over the Boston Celtics. You've you've
heard Jalen Brown talk about death. Here's his feelings after
the Celtics were eliminated in six.

Speaker 8 (01:32:06):
It's things as it should, you know, anytime, you know,
losing stings, especially finishing the season like this, you know,
but uh, you know, it just wasn't our year.

Speaker 1 (01:32:24):
It wasn't our year, and our best player got hurt.
Nick San would immediately tell you what he was also
hurt whenever you guys were down essentially three games to one.

Speaker 8 (01:32:34):
Things didn't go our way this year, and it's unfortunate,
but you know, we hold our head up regardless losing
to the Knicks. You know, it feels like death, but
I was always taught that there's light after there's life
after death. So we'll get ready for whatever's next, whatever's
next in the journey, I'll be ready for.

Speaker 1 (01:33:00):
I mean, there is a part where you hear something
like that and you will want to walk up and
be like, hey, dude, you're gonna be okay, You're gonna
be okay.

Speaker 4 (01:33:09):
He's going through it right now.

Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
Oh, that's a great way to put it. He is
going through it right now, like dath how's Joe Missoula
handling things. Let's see, I'll see.

Speaker 14 (01:33:20):
Best throughout the season, our guys had the right mindset
and the right process towards going after it. Uh you know,
you obviously it's not going to go the way you
want to.

Speaker 11 (01:33:28):
Like the way we end it.

Speaker 14 (01:33:29):
He just you know, ran into a great team in
the second round and they got the best of us.

Speaker 1 (01:33:33):
Yeah. Yeah, it sounds like he's pretty down to earth.
I think fans that are invested as much as Celtics
fans appear to be, they want more scorched earth. They
don't want logical thinking like this.

Speaker 14 (01:33:48):
To me, it's more about the you know, the mindset
and the process that the guys had throughout the season.
I thought they gave everything that. I thought they really
went after trying to achieve something that's obviously extremely difficult.
I thought they went after that. And when you go
after something, this is the price you pay.

Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
Yeah, you lose a game. We'll see how the Celtics
bounce back. I think I hit just about everything good
from all the sound from last night. Oh yeah, one more.
Tom Thibodeau was asked if this was well the questions
with it.

Speaker 8 (01:34:16):
Would you say tonight's performance was the best in the postseason?

Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
Probably, you know, and we knew we would have to
play forty eight minutes against them. They're terrific on both
sides of the ball. They play their style no matter what,
and so they're not going to hand you anything, you know,
you have to earn it, and I felt that.

Speaker 1 (01:34:42):
We did that right. We'll see. I'm really intrigued by Indiana,
you know the other side of this, And I know
I talked earlier in the program that tonight's more about
the Knicks, and tonight's about celebrating New York, moving on
and questioning what's next for Boston. You know, are the
Pacers a team with its core that is ready to
take that next step or is it a team that,

(01:35:03):
over two seasons and two playoff runts, has got some
incredible breaks. I mean the NFL, I'm sorry, college football.
Bill Connley really talented numbers nerd for ESPN. He has
a I guess you could say rating system, the S
and P Index, and he'll have this thing called the

(01:35:24):
luck Index, and they just released it this week and
it's very confusing. I mean it. I think you can
make it very simple and say, hey, this team got
lucky because of you know, turnovers and things that you
can't control. Injuries. Right this this team ended up having
a good season because either they stayed healthy or they
played a team that was without their quarterback. There's a
lot of things that can go into it, and you
look at teams and you realize that maybe Indiana guy

(01:35:46):
a little lucky last year. It happens. I'm a believer
that you create your own luck. But there's also something
to be said whenever another team's best player and their
one a player goes down in consecutive series. And there's
another thing to be said when the exact same thing
happened exactly three hundred and sixty five days ago. For
a team, they still have to take advantage of it.
But I wonder how people are viewing in the end.

(01:36:07):
I mean, back to back trips to the conference finals
is something else? I mean in a league now that
with the loss by Boston, the NBA will have a
seventh different champion for the seventh consecutive season. And for
those of you that preach and preacher preach about parody
in different sports, I mean, is that does that make

(01:36:31):
the league more successful? I don't think so. I think
that if you look back at if you want to
gauge success, well, it depends on how you gauge success. Right.
TV ratings wise a little bit rough right now, but
as far as revenue gained from the TV deals, pretty good, right,

(01:36:52):
And a lot of people say you need more parody. Well,
the NBA's got that right now, because after the Golden
State Warriors won what three titles in four years and
went back to back, You've had the Raptors, Lakers, Bucks, Warriors, Nuggets, Celtics,
and now the Thunder this year. So you're gonna have
It's wild to think about just how incredibly diverse your

(01:37:13):
pool of champions has been. And you're talking about major markets.
I mean, Milwaukee, for goodness sake, won a title. It also,
by the way, on the on the flip side in Toronto,
on the flip side of that. It shows you how
fleeting it can be. Milwaukee won a title in twenty
twenty one, and now they're talking about blowing the whole
thing up and Gianni's playing somewhere else next year. The

(01:37:35):
Raptors won it in twenty nineteen. I don't know if
there's even one single player left on the Raptors from
that twenty nineteen team. It's crazy here. We are, all right,
we do have to break. It's the Plank Show. When
we come back in lieu of Breeze three. I've got
conspiracy talk for you next on Fox Sports Radio. All right,
little business here, it's the Plank Show overnight through the

(01:37:59):
night on Fox Sports Radio. A reminder that the best
pregame show in the business is right here. Every weekend,
be sure to tune in to Fox Sports Radios Countdown
presented by bet MGM every Saturday and Sunday morning from
night to noon eastern six to nine am Pacific time.
We'll count it out to all of the biggest games.
Tune into Countdown presented by bet MGM. Excuse me, every

(01:38:20):
Saturday and Sunday morning right here on Fox Sports Radio
on the iHeart Radio app. And speaking of the iHeart
Radio app, you can now stream Fox Sports Radio Live
twenty four to seven. Well, you've always been able to,
but there's something cool in the iHeart Radio app. The
new feature allows you to select Fox Sports Radio is
one of your presets, just like the presets on your
radio dow pretty cool. Be sure to preset Fox Sports

(01:38:42):
Radio on the Iheard Radio app and it will always
pop up on your screen. I did like this idea though.
Mikeah Lepper khon very active tonight on the program, not
just very active on his calls, but very active on
the website Twitter dot com. He had the idea in
place of Breeze three. We introduced a segment tonight called

(01:39:02):
Patrick's Picks. Keeping with the conspiracy theory theme, discuss the
craziest news stories You've recently seen on TV. That would
be though that would involve me having to watch the news, Mike,
I am very much sports. And then a trio of
TV shows that probably no one else's watch. No one

(01:39:22):
else's watched, especially at fifty right, I watch Family Guy,
South Park and Rick and Morty. I'm very much a
twelve year old trapped in a fifty year old body.
But I am here for some conspiracy theory talk. So
let's get after it. I have one regret on the show,
and maybe we'll be able to squeeze it in. In
our last segment, we didn't get to talk a lot

(01:39:42):
about Caleb Williams. Let's do that. In our last segment
we got Planks Parlay coming up. The NFL schedule stuff
was hilarious. I thought, I mean, I know that the
Colts had to pull theirs down because they claim some
sort of issue where they overstepped their relationship with Microsoft.
I didn't get that out of the right, but it
was really about the Tyreek Hill part of it, which

(01:40:03):
by the way, Tyreek Hill thought was hilarious. Now you've
got people like Florio and others clutching their pearls. They
were so offended by it, I mean, settled down. Mac
Wilson's rap was pretty good, I thought in the schedule release,
I thought that was good for the Cardinals. I kind
of dug like bits of things I didn't really I
think some people try too hard. I thought the Patriots

(01:40:24):
kind of tried too hard. Felt like the Raiders did
to a certain extent. But when Pinn and Teller magically
started having yellow flags up here whenever they were talking
about the Arrowhead trip, I dug that anything else jump
out on the schedule release that we need to talk
about before we get to the frozen envelope Patty that
you caught.

Speaker 4 (01:40:40):
Yeah, not really on the schedule. It's just it's not
really a storyline until we kind of jump into it.

Speaker 1 (01:40:47):
Well no, no, I don't mean the schedule itself. I
mean in the teams and their videos and the things.

Speaker 4 (01:40:52):
That oh oh oh, well, I mean I did like
the I did find the Tyreek Hill one funny that
was too funny. It was funny. It was good, it
was good. It was They caught me off guard.

Speaker 1 (01:41:03):
Too, but it was not a minecraft guy. Mean, that's
out of world. My son was so I would watch it.
It never really made much sense to me, but it's correct.

Speaker 4 (01:41:12):
Seattle did like a I know, I'm not trying to
be the oh the Seahawks guy here, but the Seahawks
did a theirs was kind of like done like a
nineteen eighties, nineteen nineties like actionon figure like oh, Devin
Witherspoon and like, you know, like they do like those
over the top kid ones where it's like the Enemies
or here Come the forty nine ers. They did it

(01:41:35):
just like that for their whole schedule lease and it
was really kind of funny.

Speaker 1 (01:41:38):
Yeah. Interesting, I'll have to go back and watch that one.
I I don't have a problem with it. I know
it's so funny because it started out with one or
two teams doing it. And the Tennessee Titans had that
great one where they went it was a Broadway on
in Nashville and they went down and as they asked
the quote unquote fans or just people in Nashville to

(01:41:58):
guess the logos, and they went, Now, you're not gonna
top that, but I dig it. I think it's fun.
So we got some NFL schedule notes we'll get to
before we get out of here on Fox Sports Radio.
But ladies and gentlemen, we out of sports conspiracy. Jump
to the front of the line and the storylines this week. Now,
some might say that there's no such thing. Some of

(01:42:21):
you just to believe everything. You're spoon fed, which it's
a you problem. I tend to dig a little bit deeper, or,
as maybe some people would put it, use Google with
that in mind. Oh, by the way, the other conspiracy
theorists back, don't you use Google? You better use Duck
duck go. That's the way to go. Plank. Don't you

(01:42:42):
trust Google? I love Google. I'm addicted. I'm sorry, not sorry.
So anyway, I'm on Google and I'm digging into sports
conspiracy theories this week because I can't help myself. Whenever
I see a story like the Dallas Mavericks winning the
NBA Draft a lottery and not just the Dallas Mavericks

(01:43:03):
winning it, but I hope everyone caught who was number two,
I mean the Spurs. Damn there did it again. So
if you're unfamiliar with this and you've been living under
a rock. The Dallas Mavericks traded away their future, their star,
the foundation of the franchise, Luca Donchez, to Lakers, and

(01:43:26):
a lot of people thought that there was something more
to this. They thought that maybe it was a situation
where the Mavericks could be on the move, maybe a
new owner was ready to sell the team whatever, or
move the team, whatever it might be. There were conspiracy
theories everywhere whenever it came to this. So I find
myself as somebody that likes to dig deeper one point

(01:43:50):
eight percent one point eight percent chance to have the
right to draft Cooper Flag. There's just no way. There's
just no way. It's too perfect. There's no way that
you could have this trade and this play out the
way that it did. You just can't. It's impossible. So
with that in mind, I'm buying into it. You've heard

(01:44:12):
the Doug Gottlieb promo, I'm sure a thousand times. I'll
ask you guys, on a scale of one to ten,
ten being I'm in one being, there's no way they
could fix this thing. Patrick, where do you stand on
whether or not the NBA Draft lottery was fixed on
a scale of one to ten to thank the Mavericks

(01:44:32):
for doing their part and making sure the Lakers stay relevant.

Speaker 4 (01:44:35):
I'm going number seventy seven from a boy Luka Dnsig.
But it's a ten. Yes, it is.

Speaker 5 (01:44:41):
Point seven ish, yeah, right in there, I'm like, no,
it's seventy seven.

Speaker 4 (01:44:45):
No, seventy seven, like as in, I'm just being Luca
because that's my guy now. But yeah, it's a ten.
Of course that's to come on. I do like it
gifted that for just oh just chance.

Speaker 1 (01:44:57):
No, it was what I thought was the funniest thing
of all is there was One of the tweets was
if you question the relevance of the draft lottery or
the ability for it to happen without being fixed, then you,

(01:45:18):
my friend, are questioning Ernest and Young. And I mean
the Twitter feeds came up with all these stories about
Ernest and Young on money here and how they botched this.
It's just wild how many mistakes there were in the
history of this accounting firm. What do you think, Mark,
are you buying this or selling it? Are you one
or ten? When it comes to whether or not this

(01:45:39):
fix was in.

Speaker 5 (01:45:39):
The scale of one to ten, I'm going with eight
because there's nothing to point to to give evidence. But
something happened that that particular team who, like you just said,
gave away something, and all of a sudden, they're the benefit,

(01:46:00):
the beneficial of this of the envelope. It's strange, and
you know, I guess they call it suspicious.

Speaker 1 (01:46:10):
Suspicious is a good word. So got me thinking this week,
because I'm a believer, what are sports conspiracy theories that
the Royal we actually believe in, buy into or give
a little credence to. Now here's a few. Do you
buy into? The conspiracy theory? The Major League Baseball owners,

(01:46:31):
players and league execs ignored the steroid growth within the
league in order to save the game thanks to the
broage of home runs. See I buy that one. And
I don't even know if that's much of a conspiracy theory,
but that's one of my favorites. Nineteen ninety four, we
have the strike. Major League Baseball shut its season down,
did not play the World Series, and it took him

(01:46:52):
a long time to get back. It was, it killed
the sport, America's pastime became irrelevant and kind of has
really fought to get back to its place where it was.
And I don't know if it ever really got there
except for during the home run chase with McGuire and Sosa.
It's a ninety seven ninety eight. It was great. I

(01:47:15):
remember I graduated from college and I went on a trip,
took a train, for goodness sakes up to Chicago from
Saint Louis to watch the Cubs and the Cardinals play.
And it was electric. It was every time McGuire and
Sosa came to the plate, there was a buzz. It
was wild. So that's one that I buy. I buy
that one quite a bit. Ninety four. Here's one if

(01:47:37):
you want to stay in the nineties. August of nineteen
ninety seven, Patrick, I know you probably weren't born yet,
but that was the Cal Ripken Kevin Costner rumor slash
conspiracy theory. That was the night that the Mariners apparently
had electrical problems so they couldn't play the Baltimore Seattle game.
Which can you imagine in today's world having to cancel

(01:48:01):
a game for electrical reasons, like the lights go out.
It's like, everyone, just turn your phones on. We're gonna
keep playing this game. Now, both Kevin Coster and Cal
Ripken have come out and said that it's not true
that they got in a fight because come Costner allegedly
adding a fair with cal Workings wife, and thus the
streak was intact and he ended up setting the record
for most consecutive games played. Believability on this one, high

(01:48:23):
or low, Patrick, high or low on the lights purposely
going out in Seattle.

Speaker 4 (01:48:29):
I'm gonna go and say lukewarm like I'm I'm not
trying to be on the fence, but it's like I'll
give credence, like yeah, it's got something, but I don't know.
And also just to tell you ninety five nineteen ninety
five for me, playki.

Speaker 1 (01:48:41):
Okay, okay, okay, So now night. To me, there are
some obvious ones in here that I won't mention, and
one of those, well that I want match it. I
don't feel like we need to talk about because it's
pretty obvious. Frozen envelope, Patrick Ewing, the Calves getting the
number one pick to Paristar with Lebron the Bulls getting

(01:49:02):
the number one pick when Derrick Rose was a Chicago guy.
I think there's something to that, right, I mean, just
there's no question about that. But I was not aware
of this one. There is a theory that in nineteen
sixty nine, the NFL fixed Super Bowl three to allow

(01:49:24):
Joe Namath and the Jets to beat the Colts and
thus bolster the AFL prior to the merger with the
NFL and give them a superstar in Broadway, Joe, who
I think was already a superstar. I also wasn't aware
of this in nineteen ninety seven. The rumor, the conspiracy theory,
is that atp Tour Execs that's a professional tennis league

(01:49:47):
for those who don't know, kept a positive drug test
from Andre Agassy secret in the best interest to the sport.
Now what again, I don't know Agacy in the If
you're talking late nineties, you're probably talking about cocaine. But
this was allegedly crystal meth. Wow, that's going hardcore right there, right,

(01:50:08):
And let's see, there were two more here, two more here.
When the NFL came down on the Patriots for the
Spygate tapes, remember there was a lot of evidence that
was destroyed. In fact, the theory is, the conspiracy theory

(01:50:29):
is that Roger Goodell destroyed the Spygate tapes in two
thousand and seven because they revealed an even more damning
form of cheating. I don't know about you, Patrick. I
kind of like that one. I like that one. Mark,
I like that one. You start digging into it, You're like, Oh,
this is bad, this is really really bad. What's happening here?

(01:50:51):
Oh my lode, they're taping this, They've got footage here.
Shut it all down. We shut it all down because
the Patriots didn't even really fight back against it two
terribly much. It took it. But we also had a
situation where was it the Patriots who got in trouble
again for taping the Bengals sideline. Someone got in trouble
then for taping the Cincinnati sidelines a couple of years later,

(01:51:14):
many years later. But yeah, there, that's another That was
one that I had heard of, but I didn't realize
to that degree that people had believed in it. I
don't buy into the I don't buy into the idea
that NASCAR drivers purposefully let Dale Junior win whenever they
came back to the Daytona five hundred in two thousand

(01:51:36):
and four. That was six years of the day after
his dad won his first and three years after his death.
I think if you want to talk conspiracy theories, I
think you would say that maybe they allowed him to
have a little bit more juice when they went back
that summer after Dale had passed in two thousand and
he won the summer race there. But my personal favorite

(01:51:57):
and the all time greatest conspiracy theory is not a
bloody sock for Kurt Shilling. No, no, no, It's not
the United States and the Russians basketball officiating though, it's
not even the frozen envelope, gentlemen. The greatest conspiracy theory
that I truly buy into, and I truly believe is
that Michael Jordan did not choose to retire in ninety

(01:52:21):
three to pursue baseball. It was an under the table
suspension by David Stern, which was a punishment for his
gambling debts. Which, now, if you look back that thirty
two years ago, thinking about someone having gambling debts, you're
like that, dude, you need to get hot on DraftKings.
What's going on back in those days, Back in my day,

(01:52:44):
we weren't allowed to talk about gambling on the air.
I heard about that one, now, do you buy it?

Speaker 5 (01:52:50):
I buy it because there was a local radio guy
at first name Stee. He was on Childie eleven. He
talked about that. A lot of it was planned that
he would be he would go away. They had it
planned when he would come back, because they were setting
up tickets and planning his arrival back to the NBA.

(01:53:13):
So he got sent away because of gambling situations, so
they like suspended him. You're out for a while, and
then they knew when he was going to come back.

Speaker 1 (01:53:24):
Where do you stand on this one, Patrick.

Speaker 4 (01:53:26):
That's so smart. I never even thought of that that way. Yeah, honestly,
like honestly, with just you both telling me this, like
I'm all in on that, Like that makes stomachs too
much sense. And my mom always taught me, like if
it makes too much sense, like it's probably go with
the most obvious.

Speaker 1 (01:53:45):
I'll tell you this much. It would make a lot
of sense because my man was not very good at baseball.
But you fast forward thirty years later, completely acceptable in
less it in less in less they had evidence that
he had gambled on the bulls, or they had evidence

(01:54:05):
that he had placed wagers on NBA games. But that's
my favorite there in honor of the league fixing the
NBA lottery and allowing the Dallas Mavericks to have the
number one pick in the draft, and in honor of
Brie being out tonight, Breeze threes with Plank's conspiracy theories

(01:54:26):
or whatever you want to look at, and I'll tell
you they keep adding to I think there's something conspiracy
related in that tuck roll game against the against the
Patriots and the Raiders. Haven't quite figured that one out yet,
but I will, I will. It broke my heart to
this day. But a fascinating week for the NBA that
culminates tonight with the New York Knicks advancing to the

(01:54:46):
Eastern Conference Finals for a showdown with the Celtics after
eliminating the Celtics for a showdown with the Pacers. On
a night when the Knicks fans are celebrating like they
just want a title, conspiracy theory is abound. Well, what
a rap was Caleb Williams news next right here on
Fox Sports Radio. I think we're in for a fascinating
offseason in the NBA. I know we're not there yet,

(01:55:07):
We're just to the Eastern Conference Finals and almost to
the Western Conference Finals. But you know, next week, maybe
we'll be talking a little bit more about Gianni's future.
I found that to be fascinating throughout the week. Brian
windhors this morning, dropping the idea of Jannis and Golden State. Okay,

(01:55:28):
does Golden State have enough to trade to get him?
Maybe so, But I think his future is gonna be
a fascinating conversation. I think if the thunder lose on
Sunday to the Nuggets, I think that'll be interesting to
see what they're gonna do with that core. Will there
be moves there in Oklahoma City. I think it's gonna
be fascinating to see what happens going forward. With Boston.

(01:55:50):
The focus is on the Knicks and the Pacers. I
am a little bit disappointed tonight. I'm a little disappointed.
Not gonna lie. Thought we'd hear from some Knicks fans
or are fired up, but I get it. Drunk, you're happy,
you're enjoying life. The Celtics fans picked up the slack.
It's all good. Meanwhile, one story we didn't hit on,
No Breeze three tonight, Breeze out. Thanks Patrick for filling

(01:56:11):
an awesome job as always Mark fun to hang out
as it always is. The Fellows are coming up next,
but No Breeze three, so we're gonna punt on the
plank parlay too, because it's it needs some reconfiguration, because
it's oh for its last three and last week was
a heart heartbreaker, heartbreaker. But I did want to talk

(01:56:31):
a little bit about the least surprising story in sports
this week. You might say, what is it the Nick's
winning whenever Jason Tatum got hurt? No, no, that's not it.
You might say the NBA fixing a lottery. No, no,
that's not it. It is Carl Williams trying to be

(01:56:53):
overly involved in his son's life. You guys, you guys
know how Caleb william is just you know, asking for
a friend, because I can tell you how old Caleb
Williams is. Caleb Williams is a grown man. He's twenty
three years old, and yet his dad is the most
overly involved person in his life. Now. I love my dad,

(01:57:16):
love him. If I could spend every minute of the
day with him, I would. But my dad doesn't want
to be involved in my finances and how I'm going
to live my life. My dad doesn't want to be
my agent. My dad doesn't want to be on TV,
he doesn't want to be on radio. I don't want
to be overly involved in my kid's life. I want
them to make their own decisions. I want to be

(01:57:36):
their dad, I want to be their form and I
want to support him. Carl Williams wants to be the
main character, and that's been the case in Caleb Williams'
life the whole time. Because this article, this book, there
should not be a single quote from Carl Williams in it,
and the fact that he opens his mouth and shares

(01:57:59):
all that information, while not surprising at all, does nothing
but hurt the reputation of Caleb Williams. Now, I'm a
believer that it helps Caleb in one way, magnifies the
ineptness of the Bears last year. But I also feel
like there's two sides to this story. And I'm sorry,
I cannot believe in my core, in my heart of hearts,

(01:58:20):
that the Chicago Bears didn't have a coach watching film
with Caleb Williams, I cannot allow myself to believe that
an NFL team is that inept. But here we are.
I mean, guys, your takeaway from this should be and

(01:58:41):
I don't know why we still have this issue. There's agents,
there's coaches, there's trainers, if your dad played in the league,
that's one thing. But Caleb Williams deserves to be his own. Man.
He's a great He's a great dude. I know. I'm
an Oklahoma guy. So from my perspective, you might sell

(01:59:02):
you're jaded because he went to USC No, I'm not. No,
I'm not not at all. I'm happy for him. I'm
rotten for him. I'm the guy on this network that's
telling you he's still going to be a star. And
if I'm a Bears fan, I'm on cloud nine knowing
that I have this guy representing my team, his dad.
Deciding to make it a story and going and talking
to Seth Wickersham for a book about how he wanted

(01:59:25):
to go to Minnesota, how they try to work to
get him out of Chicago, telling Seth Wickersham, by the way,
great job on Seth, I because Seth didn't have to
do anything. He just had to say, Hey, man, I'm
gonna write a court I'm gonna write an article on
how to build a quarterback and what to Carl Williams
c He saw him being compared to Richard Williams, he
saw him being compared to Earl Woods. He's like you bet,

(01:59:45):
I'll tell you how I did it. I'm so embarrassed
for Caleb for his his dad's actions in this, because
all this does is magnify how sometimes you have to
separate from that to truly be the best you can be.
Looking Nico story, look at Nico iam Aliava and what's
going on there. It's his dad that's got him less

(02:00:06):
money in a worse spot than he had to Tennessee.
Sometimes it's okay to separate, and I felt it was
so From covering Carl Williams, it was the least shocking
thing I've ever seen in my life. From being a
fan of Kata Williams, I hated because it puts even
more of a target on his back from Bears fans
when he doesn't do well. But don't don't be surprised

(02:00:29):
if there'll be more too, And I can't wait to
see the Bears counter to this. I can't wait to
read the book as well. Fun show tonight again, Patrick,
Always fun to hang Mark, have a great week. Breeze
back next week. The Fellas are coming up next Great Saturday.
