Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports. All right, Okay, I feel
better now. I wanted to try to do justice to
to Bernie's Vegas Hour. Now I feel good. The boss
man's happy. Sorry, Scott, I'm not the just I'll be
honest with you. I'm looking at my pick sheet from
this week in college I went oh in six. I'm
(00:23):
not even mad. I'm almost impressed. I had Ohio State
to cover against Nebraska. That didn't happen. I'd Stanford to
cover against Utall. Stanford stinks. Oregon should be kicked out
of college football for losing to Stanford. I had s MU, which,
by the way, s m U, Gentlemen, was the spread
that when I saw it, I thought someone's getting fired
(00:45):
for that spread, and they they got beat. Althought. West
Virginia was in a great spot right coming off a
win over Iowa State three and a half point dog
at home. They had smoked at Mississippi State. Actually, missip
State may have covered hold on before I started getting
two upset here, hold hold up, hold up plus four? Okay, okay,
good good. I went one in five. Mr. Be State
(01:08):
was a four and a half point dog. The only
lost by three and then to cap it off tonight
in my mortal lock. You tap gets smoked by U. T.
S A two times, gentlemen, I've bet again, Well, I mean,
I don't bet. I've picked. I've picked against U. T.
S A two times. They've buried me at you Tap
(01:29):
at Louisiana Tech respects. But it's been an interesting night
in college football. So I'm throwing some chum in the
water on the college football side of things, and I'm
curious to go round the horn here in a bit.
I'll let everyone kind of come up with their ideas,
their thoughts, their opinions. In the immortal words of Austin Powers,
(01:54):
Who's number two? Think about it? We all? I think
we all agree, right, George's hands down number one. Dave
proven it. They've got great wins and they're there dominated Ethans.
They lost their starting middle linebacker. Horrific charges and claims
against him. Will keep an eye on that story. He's
claiming his innocence. Uh. But with the way things went today,
(02:20):
has your opinion from Tuesday to today change with who
you think is number two? So we'll go around the
horn on that. I'll throw it out on Twitter and
we can have ourselves a good old fashioned sports radio conversation.
In the meantime, huh, you guys, make up your mind.
I'll leave it up to you, Bob Benson, as the
(02:40):
producer of Fox Sports Sunday, when you want to scratch
the surface on the Aaron Rodgers conversation, that's you. You're
the producer. You run this show because I mean, I
just this was arguably right. I mean, if you think
(03:00):
about the fact that as we kick off the NFL
week today and recap the Saturday that was college football,
this was arguably one of the craziest weeks period. I mean,
not even saying it was, this was one of the
craziest weeks in college football. You're right, this was one
(03:23):
of the craziest weeks in the NFL. You're right, this
was one of the craziest weeks in college basketball. You
know what, You're right. I mean, even if you want
to dive into a little bit deeper with kind of
the early season NBA, this was the sports world was
the gift that just kept giving, and sometimes it was
(03:47):
things you didn't want to know about. Right. The Henry
Ruggs story, which a tragedy, an absolute tragedy. But I mean,
if you really think about this week. We had what
I would consider one of the leading NFL MVP candidates
(04:10):
go down for the season, and Derrick Henry. You had
one of the longest tenured coaches in college football basically
get fired. In Gary Patterson. You had a monkey bite
a tricker treader who, come to find out, was actually
(04:31):
the pet of a Texas assistant football coaches girl girlfriend
who was also a stripper who goes by the name
Pol Assassin. And the monkey is part of the act.
And by the way, is a common appearance on Jerry Springer.
Oh really, that's right, that's right, that's right. You know what.
I actually, there's so much that happened this week. I
forgot I forgot about her. So that's kind of my point.
(04:54):
J I think we can just do all four hours
on Assassin, and the moment we could, we could, But
this is this week has been the gift that keeps
giving because a monkey allegedly biting a trick or treater
who probably was where he shouldn't have been, and then
come to find out we all learn about Pol Assassin
(05:16):
is about eighth on the depth chart. Oklahoma States men's
basketball team got deemed with sanctions where they can't play
the postseason like five years ago. It's like, what are
we doing here in c A. A Odell Beckham Jr.
Is gone, DeShawn Jackson has gone. We had our first
college football rankings and you're like, oh my gosh, this
(05:38):
week has been crazy. And then and then we find
out that Aaron Rodgers won't play against the Chiefs and
one of arguably the most promoted, most anticipated games, even
despite Kansas City's record on the NFL schedule this year.
(05:58):
I mean how first take have been talking about it
for like a month and somehow they think that everyone
just wants to debate who's better Mahomes or Rodgers every day. Well,
guess what, they're not playing each other. And then we
find out even more Aaron Rodgers isn't vaccinated. And then
(06:20):
it goes deeper because Aaron goes on Pat McAfee show
and kind of says some things that opens a lot
of our eyes in not always a good way. And
then we find out that Okay, there's some people that
think there's different between Emmy and Eves and vaccinated. My
head was exploding this week, but it was good. I mean,
(06:40):
not necessarily everything that happened. Not my point, but it was.
It was good to kind of be able to step
back and think, boy, this is this is one of
those weeks where there is so much to get to
and there's so much to talk about that even the
pain of some of the horrible stories that are out there,
you know you can you can still find the good.
(07:02):
You can find the good in all of this. So
you decide bow balls in your court. When you want
to dive into the Aaron Rodgers conversation. It's up to you,
because it immediately if you have a sports depth chart.
I didn't think anyone was going to surpass monkey Stripper,
(07:23):
but that happened by about Wednesday afternoon. And what's funny.
What's funny is the story broke from some random dudes.
And I'm if he's a college football report, I don't know.
I mean, I love college football, man, I live it.
It's my number one job. But I mean, come on,
most college football reporters are Doric's kind of nerds. I
(07:44):
mean they lose their mind to pump their fist over
calling October Brock October. That's kind of all you need
to know, because the dude's name is Brock. That plays
quarterback for Iowa. Stay evidence number one, your honor. But
I say that with some love because I'm part of
that nerddom and I just I saw the report that
(08:07):
a a child had been attacked by a monkey, and
come to find out it was you know, the pet
of a Texas assistant's girlfriend. Right, nothing's gonna top that,
And then everything kind of went snowball rushing downhill. So
your call tonight, Bo. In the meantime, let's go around
the horn here real quick as we kick off another
(08:29):
Fox Sports Sunday. Chris Blankett for Bernie Fratto at plank
Shaw on Twitter. Chris Perfett running the show, Bob Benson
taking your calls at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox,
and Brian Finley on updates, which we'll get to at
the top and bottom of every hour. So if you've
missed anything or you feel like you need to be
up to date on anything in the world of sports,
Defense got you updated at the top and bottom of
(08:50):
every hour. So I'll start Bob Benson with you because
I get it, you know you and I are sooner, guys.
So there's a little homeriism that's going on here. But
who do you consider after today to be the number
two team in college football? I think I think it's
(09:11):
probably Cincinnati to me. I I think Joel Clatt tweeted
at earlier today that we've gotten so lost in the
politics of college football that we forget it. We forget
that at the end of the day, it's about winning
and losing. And I think Cincinnati has probably the most
impressive win going into Notre Dame and beating them. UM,
(09:34):
So I think it's Cincinnati. I think Oklahoma is three,
and then probably Oregon at four just because they beat
Ohio State. UM, but it's it's definitely not Alabama after
they beat a really bad LSU team by six points
at home where LSU had a chance to win at
the end of the game. I agree. Um here's what's
interesting to me as on we get Prefet's take on
(09:55):
this too, and I don't know its direction. Brian Finley
is gonna go because I'm not dog on to the
Pac twelve here, but I'm just bringing up the point.
I don't think that, OHI that Oregon's win over Ohio
State is the best win. I think Cincinnati going and
beating Notre Dame is the best win in college football.
Now again we neednabate if I go back and forth.
(10:18):
The committee in the end felt that Oregans went over
the Ohio State was more impressive, so much so that
they looked past a loss to a three win football team.
So I kind of digging the idea of Cincinnati being
number two? Perfect? Which way are you going right now?
Georgia a slam dunk number one? We all agree there,
which is wild that everyone probably agrees on something. Who
(10:38):
do you have at number two? I have Oregon at
number two, but not much higher than Cincinnati. UM, I
have some thoughts on how we've been ranking this the
season go ahead, I have well, I I don't want
to get too much into because it will derail the
conversation on who is number two. But I've noticed with
the rankings that like the SEC has gotten this for
(10:59):
many men years, and now the Big Ten seemingly has
gotten it. Where the College Football Playoff Committee puts a
bunch of teams near the top, and then when those
teams start to beat each other up and they lose,
they can just keep moving teams up and says, well,
they beat someone who was a top ten matchup. But
it's like okay, but you rank them top ten to
begin with, it creates this what's called a feedback loop,
(11:21):
and Cincinnati doesn't really get the benefit of that. But
as both said, they've got probably the best, you know,
best went on they're going into Notre Dame. I just
put Oregan above them a little bit just because I
test being what it is looking at them, like, I
like what Oregon has on their defense. I mean, they
they've got Cavon Thibodeau, who I think is going to
be the number one overall pick in the NFL Draft.
(11:43):
They've also got a lot of some of them are young,
but they're playing very well. And look, I I watched
that Stanford game. I didn't think they deserve to lose
that game. Like the officiating in that game was wretched,
and they gave Stanford a drive that Stanford did not
deserve to have that allowed them to win that game.
They've played very tough road opponents, being at Ohio State,
(12:07):
U c l A, Washington where they've gone on the
road in tough places to play. They'll hear you on
U c l A. But come on Washington four and
five football team. That's that's a rivalry, though that's that's
a deep that's a deep look football. Football is a
week two week sport, and like Michigan State just lost Perdue,
like these things are going to happen. I I understand
(12:29):
that we fall in love with style points, but I
don't think they're the end all be all, And I
still think like Oregon did put out what is that
a three to score a two score differential at the
end of the game. That's fine, that's fine. I put
them number two, but again, Cincinnati not far behind it
for me, and then for my number four, I guess, um, yeah,
(12:51):
it would be Oklahoma. I've I feel like we've just
completely written off Oklahoma like the playoff can be. Putting
them at eight is almost more wild to me than
putting some Finnati at sex. I think it's great. I
think it's great that they put oklahomat eight. I'll explain
a little bit later on. All right, Finley, right now,
who do you have is your number two behind Georgia.
I'm not gonna be packed twelve bias here, Chris. I
(13:14):
am gonna go with Alabama. I understand that there are
going to be a lot of people that are eye
rolling right now about that, But I don't understand this
whole notion of how scoring differential in an outcome of
a game is to prove whether a team should be
at a position or not. Cincinnati only one by eight
points against your Tulsa Golden Hurricane, and the fact is
(13:37):
that doesn't seem impressive to me. So if we're gonna
put Cincinnati in a light of number two even though
they only one by eight, then we shouldn't dog as
much on Alabama. I really do feel like Chris that
l s U that they they've totally lost the locker room.
But the guys who are on the talent as far
(13:58):
as the recruiting as Alabama, they just played up in
this game. They played up in this They played up
in this game. Actually defensively they did. And I think
another part of this too, and this this might sound
like a joke, but I think that Nick Saban said,
you know what, and ors you're on, He's he's done
in l s U. Take it easy on him out
there guys today, you know they would make them look
(14:18):
too bad, so but just make sure we win. So anyway,
I think Alabama is number two because there's still a
lot to happen in these next couple of weeks. But
one of the things I don't think is going to
change is that Alabama is not gonna stop winning, so
they will finish. I think when all said and done,
in that too spot, I just listen. I I know
(14:41):
that that's part of the fun of this. And I'm
kind of blaming myself for falling into the trap because
I try not to write. I don't want to get
mad about these things. These these rankings are a TV
show at this point, and you know, I was doing
some digging this week, and just from an Oklahoma perspective,
owners have never been in the initial four team playoff
(15:02):
rankings never and the one seed has made the four
team playoff from the initial rankings every single year but
the first year Missipy State and Dak Prescott were number one.
The number two seed in the initial playoff rankings have
made the four team playoffs every single year but the
second season when l s U was second. So if
(15:26):
you start one or two, you're in a pretty good spot.
So I feel good if I'm George and Alabama I don't.
I mean, I'm not trying and I'm We're gonna take
a time out here and dive into a little bit
more in death when to get back. But I'm not
seeing what you're seeing in Oregon. Um they have one
top twenty five one. It's a damn good win, but
it's against an Ohio State team that you know. I
(15:46):
think it's showing some weaknesses. Uh, and that's a bad loss.
I don't care what the officials did. It still is
an l on the scoreboard. So I've had problems with
the Oregon Are they gonna be a top four team?
Maybe number three when the poll comes out this week? Yeah,
I think so. Again that you said it to score
game prefet, I agree with you. I think they move
up to three. I still take Alabama's gonna be too.
(16:08):
I really do. Dave bar two, he's a great follow
on Twitter. He's one of the numbers of nerds that
really gets it at CFB Matrix, and he tweeted this
just moments ago. Big playoff picture. The race to the
top four has changed five teams for four spots and
control their selection by just winning the same as it
(16:28):
was this morning. Those five teams might surprise you just
a bit. And we'll tell you about him next you're

a I Guess Now or no, not quite yet, not
quite yet a full Fox Sports Sunday. The West Coast
is inching towards one Week nine in the National Football
League Weekate? Where are we? Five and two six? I
don't care? Week nine week Night? Thank you Chris Christmy
countdown that bio week. I don't blame him. I'm watching
(17:55):
the highlights of Washington and Oregon. What's just an hugly
weather game, man, It's one of those games that when
you watch it, you wish that it was played on
a natural surface. Tonight, we are monitoring one story that
involves the head football coach of the Washington Huskies, Jimmy Lake,
who is being investigated after a I guess you could
(18:19):
say confrontation that he had with one of his players
on the sideline. Whenever I first saw the tweet, by
the way I thought, I thought it said he was
being investigated for an altercation with a student. I was like,
how do we not have video of a coach and
a student fighting? Well, it was a student athlete and
we got it figured out. But it'll be something that
(18:42):
thin lays on all night long. I in going to
butcher this young man's name, but ruprek fu of I.
He grabs him in the helmet and shoves him for
getting into it with Jalen Red on the sidelines. He
seemed to slap him away to the linebacker got into it,
then he shoved them. Washington ad Agen Cohen said after
(19:05):
the game that they're investigating it. It's kind of developing
as we sit here tonight on Fox Sports Radio, so
we'll keep you up today. Uh, befins all over it.
I'll kind of dig up any notes I can find.
But not only are things not going well for Washington
on the field and Jimmy Lake on the field, but
now he's got an issue with the way that he's
(19:27):
treating his players. More to come now put a ball
on this conversation about who's number two I threw out
on Twitter. We'll check back in throughout the night. Uh.
The best way to follow us at Fox Sports Radio
or or you know, I'm I'm at Plank Show, Chris
is at Chris Perfect. If you're not following Brian Finley,
(19:47):
you can do so at Brian Finley, Brian with a Y,
and at bow b e au T Benson. Here's a
few um My man seth Oliver's checks in Oklahoma, no
team in the country has looked better than O you
in the fourth quarter, especially with the game on the line.
Sooners have proven to be able to come up with
big wins when they needed most winners win period. It's
(20:10):
kind of funny. I In addition to hanging out here
on Sunday nights with Arnie Span your on Fox Sports Radio.
I do a local show where we talk college football
NonStop on our Norman affiliate, Oklahoma City seven, the Raft
Dam in Norman, and we talked pretty much all day
about Oklahoma football and Oklahoma sports and the voice of
(20:35):
the Sooners, Toby Rowland and I kind of do a
part of our shows together, and he brought up a
list of five things that he discovered Oklahoma does as well,
because y'all, it is not been a fun year to
cover or talk about Oklahoma and they're nine, and oh,
I mean, thank you about that. For a bit, guys,
there's been fights. There has been not amongst the team,
(20:58):
amongst the fan base. It's been back and forth. There's
like two two moments where everyone came to gather for Oklahoma.
One when they beat Texas too, when they smoke Texas
tack O out. A third when they showed up anything
the playoff rankings. It is. It has not been pretty
and people would probably look at and go, you're nine,
and oh, that's listen feed the Beast. But one of
(21:21):
the things that to be brought up that it stayed
with me and Seth kind of touches on it on Twitter.
They know how to finish, and it's not always pretty.
I mean, you you shouldn't probably be kicking a field
goal at the gun to beat West Virginia. You probably
shouldn't be staring down to Lane and Nebraska with the
football to go on a game winning drive. But they
(21:43):
shut him down and they won the game. So I
think it's interesting from Seth Seth to make sure that
I don't look too much like a Homer. I'll continue
to kind of stand by my Alabama for now. Um
A couple back and forth here on since here man
lou Riley writes, let's see what I did there? Since
Natty not only beat Notre Dame but ended the Fighting
Irish game home winning streak. Ironically, the coach who turned
(22:07):
the University of Cincinnati round was Brian Kelly. At Matt
has tweets response since he barely beat a three and
six Tulsit team and a one and seven Navy team.
This gets back to what I think Prevatt was talking
about with kind of the eye test. When you watch Oregon,
they're good football team, right, you see it? And we
(22:27):
love this conversation about game control, and everyone loves this
game control conversation. And Oklahoma hasn't had very good game control.
Cincinnati recently hasn't had very good game control, and that
matters a lot in the eye of the committee, or
(22:47):
at least so they say. Now I mentioned real quick
before we get an update from Brian Finley. Dave bar two,
who's been on with us before at CFB Matrix, tweeted
the big playoff PA Sture hasn't changed five teams with
four spots and control their selection by just winning. I
disagree a little bit because I think he's saying those
(23:10):
five teams are Georgia, oh you, Alabama, Oklahoma State, in Michigan.
That's what I think he's saying. But see, I would
disagree a little bit because if you're putting Oregon in
the top four now, and they're probably gonna jump up
a spot this week with Michigan State's laws, I don't
(23:34):
think there's going to be anything outside of an l
that's going to drop them. Now. In the computer numbers,
which are they are? Are they not being used? You know?
Some say that, you know, we could have all these debates,
but basically the selection committee is using a computer formula
to figure this out. Okay, but you know, in the
(23:54):
eyes of of like me, I look at it and say,
how could you have a team at four and all
they do is win and in the end you're gonna
drop him out of your rankings. That doesn't make any
sense to me. And I still think Oregon is a
team that does control its own destiny. But there's some
that think that they need help. And what that help
(24:15):
is is for Ohio State and Georgia to win out.
Because the thought is if it's george and Alabama and
Oklahoma runs the table and then you have Ohio State
as one lost conference championship. Even though Ohio State beat Oregon,
Ohio State would have had the more impressive wins down
the stretch. Well, I'm really nerding out here, but that's
(24:37):
kind of where you are when you start diving into
this conversation. No team has made it with either, let
alone both and Oregon. We'll have only one top win
on their resume and a really bad loss. So we'll
see if maybe Dave can join us, if I get
(24:58):
a chance to do this again before the four team
playoff committee uh makes their final decision, or maybe we'll
get him. On Sunday night, Fox Sports Radio with Arnie
not in the meantime, let's tap into the NFL when
we come back. I've got a lot of news and
notes to get to. But first, Brian Finley with the
latest training out there. Yeah, thank you, Chris. You were
talking about number four Oregon and their win against Washington
(25:18):
twenty to sixteen, where Dux Travis Dye had two hundred
eleven rushing yards and a touchdown. And then there's the
controversy that is now starting to gain some traction on
social media with the videos circulating on Twitter where Dog's
head coach Jimmy Lake was seen with that altercation with
one of his players where he hit him in the
(25:39):
helmet and gave him really a shove on the sideline
trying to, I guess, tell him to discipline him for
what his player did earlier in getting into it with
an Oregon player. But yeah. There was a statement relayed
to the Athletic by Washington Athletic director Jen Cohen which
read quote, we are aware of an interaction between head
(25:59):
coach Jimmy Lay and a student athlete during the first
half of Saturday's game. We have high expectations of the
conduct of our coaches and we are working to gather
more information on this matter. Close quote Number seven in
Michigan finishes off Indiana twenty nine to seven. Nissan Haskins,
the ball carrier for the Wolverines, had one hundred sixty
eight yards and one touchdown. Twenty Second ranked Iowa upstages
(26:22):
Northwestern and Low, scoring a fair seventeen to twelve, while
Wildcats quarterback Andrew Marty had a tough day he was
picked off three times. Bryce Young three hundred two yards
passing and two scores. Number two Alabama finds a way
against l s U at home twenty to fourteen. It
was a Crimson rushing attack that was held to six
(26:44):
yards all game long per du snares the upset against
third ranked Michigan State forty to twenty nine, as the
Spartan stuff with their first loss of the season after
they were on a major high after beating their rival
in the Michigan Wolverines sixth rings since Sinnati hangs on
against Ulsa to twenties, so the Bearcats preserve their undefeated marked.
(27:05):
Eleventh ranked Oklahoma State sticks at the West Virginia to
three Spencer Sanders two touchdown Tosson's number twenty four San
Diego State that was the final college football game involving
a top twenty five team to wrap up on Saturday,
and they got the job done against Hawaii in Honolulu
seventeen to ten. Arkansas gets the victory against number seventeen
(27:27):
in Mississippi State thirty one to twenty eight, a loss
for Baylor, the twelfth team in Atlanta, TCU, who has
fired their head coach and Gary Patterson. Then there was
number ten Notre Dame fly swatting Navy and Kirren Williams
at ball carrier for the Irish had two touchdowns and
the Trailblazers with the one oh five ninety win over
(27:48):
the Lakers. So l A, I know, Chris, you are
a Laker fan of Carper Steaken. So earlier this week
we saw the Thunder overcome a nineteen point deficit and
eat the Lakers at Staples, and then this happened, where
again you don't have Lebron James. He's out with an
abstreen and an Anthony Davis was dealing with the stomach
(28:10):
aalement and he was held to seven minutes. But if
you're Frank Vogel, I don't know. I know it's only
ten games into the season. You're five and five, but
if I were him, I would be having some sleepless nights.
Pretty sure, good stuff, Finley, As we roll on here
on a Saturday night into US Sunday morning Fox Sports Radio,
(28:31):
we'll open it up here in a bit at eight seven,

the building right now. The Hawks cut back and win
it and survived the third miss field goal attempted the
day by the Bulldog um So as as always, there
is some fun I mean, if you can use the
term fun that has been had by one Mike Leach
(30:18):
because to say, think about this for just a moment,
imagine this at any other level of football. In the
Mississippi State Arkansas game tonight, a potential what game tying
field goal for Arkansas are excuse me from Mississippi State
(30:40):
that would have pushed the game into overtime is taken
by the backup kicker. So you pull the backup kicker
out of mothballs to have him kick the potential game
tying field goal. He misses it badly. Maybe of the
worst end of game field goal attempts ever. And here
(31:06):
was Mike Leach afterwards. Again, there's an open tryout and
you can announce this. There's an open tryout on our campus.
Uh for kickers. You know, anybody that wants to wants
to kicker or walk on and kick at Mississippi State. Um,
you know we'll hold the tryout anytime you can get
over there at our building. Uh. And providing you're cleared
(31:28):
by the n C two A. It's gotta I mean listen.
So funny side story here from me today jents my
my youngest daughter, my seven year old love soccer, loves
playing it. She's still learning and she's not as good
as some of the players on her team. And today
(31:52):
she accidentally had an own goal, which I think prefet
As our soccer guy, you can attest to it. Not
a good thing when you have an owned goal. It's
one of the most embarrassing things you can probably do
in all of sports. Now. I feel for anyone who's
had their kid well, actually I shouldn't say it, because
(32:14):
probably if that's happened on a professional level, your kids
load and taking care of you. But I feel for
anyone who's had to deal with it because I felt
horrible for her. Your heartbreaks, You don't know what to do.
The last thing I want to do when she comes
to the cars, like, what the hell is wrong with you?
I'm gonna go get another kid to play soccer for me.
That's pretty much what Mike Leach just did. He had
(32:38):
the worst thing that could happen to a kicker. Two kickers.
One missed the game tying field goal, the other miss
what they say, two field goals before that that would
have made sure they warn't in this predicament to begin with.
And what does he say? As soon as he it's
the opportunity blossom. My gosh. There's a part of me
(33:00):
that wants Mike Leach to change a little bit, But
there's a much larger part of me that's like, I
don't don't ever change. I mean, I want to see
him run the football more, but that's about it. Don't
ever change, Mike Leach, don't ever change. You're down. I mean,
I'm thinking about how sad like nothing again a seven
year old versus an eighteen nineteen year old kid in
much different world. But it's an embarrassing situation. You're hurt.
(33:22):
You're you're crushed. You know everyone saw you do what
you just did, so everybody's hurting, right and you're the
most embarrassed person on the planet. And your coach in
the middle of his press conference basically says, oh yeah,
and you can put this out there. I'm having an
open competition for kickers, which is just fantastic. My kickers
(33:44):
played a major role in college football today, more so
than they typically do. Nebraska missed about three field goals
today are they would have scared Ohio State even more
than they did. TCU nearly cost themselves the game against
Baylor and ranked matchup whenever their kicker joint one off
the crossbar made it a two point game, and then
(34:07):
Baylor turned it over college kickers, Man, what Alabama missed
the field goal that kept ellas you in the game.
It's crazy, all right, Um when we come back, I'm
moving on past college football. I don't want anyone getting
mad at me. But I thought it was a fascinating day.
A week that started with a a monkey stripper that
(34:29):
included one of the longest tenured coaches in college football
and Gary Patterson not even finishing the season that had
our first playoff ranking that I'm taking your thoughts at
Plank Show on Twitter. That's at Plank Show. Who do
you see is number two? Right now? Did Alabama do
enough tonight to impress you? Are you waiting to see
what Oklahoma does in its home stretch? Do you elevate
(34:52):
one win Arizona? By God? Because it's not about the
games you lose, It's about the games you win. Oh
In This is going to be an interesting week in
the coaching carousel because I think Dan Mullins in a
little bit more trouble than maybe anyone could consider. And
you see his buyout, and you see the amount of
(35:17):
his buyout, which I think is like twenty mill but
you realize that, hey, the way that can be negotiated
and kind of how it's amortised and how it's paid
out might not make that as hellish as it looks.
So the coaching carousel, which has already been kicked in
high gear right we have vacancies right now in college
(35:38):
football at a handful of Power five programs. TCU, Texas Tech,
Washington State, USC is still open, by God, l s
U is open. He had five major programs that have
a vacancy with the way that ended today for Dan Mullen,
getting it handed to him by my guy, Shane Biemer
(36:00):
look out man could be big trouble for Dan Mullen.
And he's already complained about recruiting enough as it is.
Fascinating times for coaches that you thought would be able
to stay as long as they want. Nope, not happening anymore.
All right, when we come back, let's start dipping our
toe in a week nine to the NFL. Next on
Fox Sports Radio, final segment of hour two for us
Sarah Fox Sports Radio, Christopher fat running the show, Bob
(36:24):
Benson hanging with us, as well as Brian Finley. I've
I've got a lot of Aaron Rodgers stuff to get.
You're gonna play some sound. I mean, this is the
hottest topic in sports, and I keep going back. I
keep going back to something Peter King wrote in one
(36:44):
of his Football Morning in America pieces before the season started,
and he said, I talked to an unnamed coach who
was more concerned about COVID than he was in which
to me. And I say this with peace and love
because I like listening to Peter King and reading him
(37:07):
was the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life,
because there's vaccine, and vaccination rates are significantly higher amongst
pro in college sports teams than they are anywhere in America.
And for a coach to say I'm more worried about
it this year than last was either some incredible amount
(37:31):
of paranoia or maybe a guy like Ron Rivera who
had very low vaccination numbers on Washington. And then I
thought about it more and more and I and I
realized maybe he was talking to the boss of the
Green Bay Packers. Maybe that conversation that uh Peter King
(37:51):
was having was with Matt Lafleur. Because I don't know
if I've ever been more perplexed to confused by anything
in my life. And I say that I'm not trying
to pass judgment here because my job, but I'm just
I've laughed about that quote a lot, like in my
mind when I mean, we haven't had at what Chandler
(38:14):
Jones right, he missed a game because of COVID. There's
been a couple of other players that have Cliff Kingsbury
because of of protocols that has missed a game, But
for the most part, it's been nothing even scratching the
surface of what we tried to and had to deal
with last year. But every so often you reminded, oh yeah,
(38:38):
this thing is still going on, and a story like
Aaron Rodgers brings so many different angles just crashing into one.
Do Jorty Lawson endorsement will get to that? And I
guess what the pulling some of his state farm commercials.
Even so, we got a lot of Aaron Rodgers to
(38:58):
get to. Though. I will say this, I am pumped
to see what Jordan's Love can do. And I'm not
trying to sit here and declare whether or not he's
ready to take over based on one performance against a
bad defense. And listen, I'm not someone tapping out in
(39:19):
Kansas City, but that's a really bad defense, really bad
defensive football team. I'm intrigued by it. Man. I love
seeing a young guy get an opportunity. And Jordan's Love
is a guy that has been clowned a lot. He
has been the butt of a lot of jokes. He's
the only guy from that draft class that hasn't taken
a snap in regular season NFL game as a starter.
(39:40):
And I'm intrigued. Now Am I ready to jump on
the bandwagon that some are if Jordan's Love plays well,
that that's it and they'll be ready to move on
from the madness of Aaron Rodgers. Well, not necessarily, And
I don't think this is what was it weeks seventeen,
(40:02):
a couple of years ago when Patrick Mahomes got to
start whenever they rested Alex Smith. I don't want to
quite go that far, but I do think it had
some some entry, some intrigue to a game that had
already been built up for a couple of years between
Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes. Because last time these two
teams played, what was it was Mahomes that couldn't go
(40:25):
because he had the knee injury and it was in
lambeau Field. Now, well, now it's a situation where the
two teams get a chance to play in Kansas City.
I was, I was juiced out of my mind over it,
But now I think I'm intrigued a little bit more.
Let's see what you got, Jordan's Love. You've been clowned on,
You've been made fun of. There's been jokes about you.
(40:47):
I mean, even your general manager this offseason question whether
or not you would be ready. But here you are.
Take advantage of your opportunity. All right, So when we
come back, let's dive into the week that it was
with Aaron Rodgers, got audio to share, got our thoughts.
I mean, if you follow the crew on Twitter, you
know they're very opinionated and passionate about this topic, as
I kind of him. But I sometimes find myself inching
(41:10):
back to football. So we'll dive into it next, plus
more from a busy day in college football and a
full breakdown of all the games coming up. And now
we're too right here on Fox Sports Radio. I'm watching
I'm watching the highlights of Arizona store in the field?
Was there even enough people at that game to actually
feel the whole field? Don't blame him as a zero
(41:33):
one football team, And and Cal, much like Florida, had
a boatload of issues with guys struggling with the flu,
which I mean, I don't know how most of you
feel when I hear anyone is sick. I don't usually
think of the flu anymore. I think of COVID, but
it's a major issue that's affecting a handful of college
(41:55):
football teams, including Florida and Cal. Today and guess what,
both lost one of him get absolutely smoked and maybe
in the end costing their coach his job. Of the
top six teams in the initial playoff rankings, five of
the six one today Michigan State got beat by Perdue,
(42:16):
who oh, by the way, takes on Ohio State next week.
Oklahoma was on a bye. We mentioned that five of
the six winning means that they got the dub, but
not always in impressive fashion. Georgia destroyed Missouri after falling
behind three zero. Alabama had to hold on late to
(42:36):
beat l s u Or again one by two scores.
Not granted they got that second score whenever Washington snapped
the football out of the back of the end zone
on a punt. And Cincinnati struggled mightily with Tulsa today,
winning to twenty, but wins a win and at this
point survive in advance. I tend to probably dork out
(42:58):
about this more than most, and earlier tonight, Heather Danich
tweeted aside from Michigan State, as it stands, I'm thinking
that because just about everyone else one ugly, it might
not change things as much as you think. With Tuesday's
four team playoff rankie, so a wild day, but maybe
(43:19):
not a game changing day. Like we initially thought, we'll
dive into that more a little bit later on in
the program. In the meantime, let's do it. Let's address
the big pink elephant in the room. On a week
when we had so much in sports, so much Aaron
Rodgers stole center stage. Now I am. I don't want
(43:42):
to spend the next three hours that we have with
you tonight talking about this NonStop. But I have some thoughts,
and I know the guys due too, So let me
start this, Mike, Where do we go from here with
this story. He's not getting cut, it's not gonna get suspended.
He's that's suddenly unemployable. Now he might be somebody that
(44:03):
maybe certain companies don't want to use as their pitchman.
He has a different view, it's much different view. I'm
not here to point fingers. I'm not here to blame
anyone or anything but to me, when Tom Brady and
Nick Saban and Lincoln Riley and names like Dabo Swinge
and Bill Belichick got the shot, I kind of thought
that took some of the concerns out of it. So
I'm not here to have a vaccination conversation or debate
(44:26):
about it, nor do I even want to. I mean,
it's my whole life, so we do. So I like
this to be a place where this becomes more of
a conversation about what it means in the sports world.
I was digging because I mentioned at the end of
last hour Peter King wrote in its Football Morning in
America piece before the season started about one coach saying
(44:48):
he was more concerned about COVID but he wasn't, which
was still the craziest thing I've ever seen. But in
going back and thinking about maybe he was talking to
Matt Lafleura, and there's another quote that he had and
it was something that I think unvaccinated players have had
to prepare for. And it is quote the league has
(45:09):
made it clear that the unvaccinated our second class citizens.
And the protocols and I know this even on the
college drinks, the protocols they have to follow are much
more obviously significant then you could imagine. I mean, and
Aaron Rodgers, boy did he go through it piece by piece.
(45:30):
But it's it's it's almost the point to where it
would make more sense to say, just give me the
shot than it would have to go through everything that
the NFL and certain conferences and programs are putting college kids,
college men and women through as well. So I that's
kind of my take on that front. But here are
(45:52):
the questions that I have and the general Some of
them have to do with personality, most of them have
to do with sports. Do you think lots of Aaron Rodgers? No,
not again because he didn't get jabbed, but because of
how he handled this, the lack of transparency, the fighting,
(46:15):
the battle between vaccinated and immunized, the way in which
he misled in some people's mind, because believe me, I'm
I'm on Twitter too, the way that he misled some
people within his own organization and fans. Do you think
less of Aaron Rodgers Number two? You know this is
(46:36):
gonna be fascinating over the next few weeks when he
comes back. I don't know if he'll be ready to
play next week. I think it's two weeks, right, so
I don't know if he'll be ready to play next week.
But with that in mind, through the pack or support
him because things have been pretty smooth in the Rogers
(46:57):
Packers relationship, right because at the start of the season,
nobody thought Aaron Rodgers would be playing with Green Bay
next year, nobody, And now is we I guess see
seventeen has always thrown me off, So I don't know
where you guys truly want to put the midpoint of
the season. But as we approached the midpoint of the season,
(47:19):
I mean, I'm I'm thinking there's a really good chance
he could end up back in Green Bay next year,
if not beyond. So things have been good. But now
as as this is played out in the way that
it's played out, and again, grown man, grown ass man,
do whatever you want, right, but you also are paid
a lot of money to play football, and you're part
(47:43):
of a team which is part of the league, which
again you are responsible to. So is there hard feelings
now in no offense Pat McAfee, but go to Pat
McAfee and air and everything out on his show. Or
is there frustration over kind of the way in which
this was He's ented And if you're the Packers and
you're Mark Murphy and you're Brian gutten Kissed and you'r
(48:05):
Matte Fleur, you know, do you have to support him
or no? The third question, of course, we touched on
a little bit of the in the last hour, and
that is how big is this for Jordan Love? You know,
do you look at this is maybe you know even
it's It's kind of interesting because in one thing that
(48:25):
Aaron Rodgers said with Pat McAfee was that he was
excited for George's love. I'm very excited for Jordan, and
I have had conversations with him. It's gonna be very
strange to watch the game without being there. Just my
third time ever watching the game on TV of a
team that I've been on. The other two was post surgeries,
and in two thousands six in two that seventeen. So
(48:47):
that's gonna be hard. So again, I'm not I'm not
here to try to proclaim that Jordan's Love is going
to become the second Coming and he's going to make
Aaron Rodgers expendable. You know, this is the same Aaron
Rodgers that when last we saw him on the football field,
won a game with I don't know, the the equivalent
(49:08):
of a practice squad due to wide receiver. So he's
still a hell of a football player. And I don't
think suddenly now this means that he's I'm not gonna
be in the plans for any team, but it does
raise some questions. So we'll go round the warn on
this again, very pat if you guys want to get
in it at Fox Sports Radio on Twitter, I'm at
(49:29):
playing show. I saw a joy said earlier today. UM,
I know some of the words that Aaron Rodgers chose
really triggered some people. And understand that, and I get it.
That's not our conversation, right, That's that's been a fascinating
conversation to follow and listen to today. My question is
and gotch Chris. I'll start with you because you cover
the NFC North quite extensively. You've you've followed Aaron Rodgers
(49:51):
career essentially, you know, since the last couple of well,
I don't want to say the last couple of years,
but you know, since you've started working here in Fox
Sports Radio and even before or I mean, what do
you make of this? I mean, how do you how
do you kind of feel as as this thing is
played out, what it means not just for his future
but also for the packers now well for just keeping
it on that angle. UM, I don't know if their
(50:13):
relationship was that just that great to begin with, And
to be honest, I don't know what kind of fuel
this throws the fire if he did mislead them or
and I don't even know if they did mislead him.
It sounds like they were almost like trying to cover
for him too, even though they knew they were skirting
around NFL rules. And these are these are rules, These
are rules for the NFL. You follow them or else
(50:34):
like you get punished. Like what, I dislike this idea
that like there's somehow that these rules are bad or whatever.
This is I but again, like this is this is
going into the larger conversation about what this vaccine mean,
which it shouldn't mean anything. It's science, it's a vaccine.
But for whatever reason, we've developed this culture in America
(50:56):
where as long as you say that you're standing on
a principle, you're to say whatever dumb crap comes out
of your mouth. And that's seems like Rodgers is like,
I look, this guy has basically like I think you
said this way, like he tried to have it both
ways on his on his personality. He tried to cultivate
this one particular audience who really liked him, while at
(51:16):
the same time believing a lot of like weird hocus pocus,
and it's brought him to this, and I think that's
fueling a lot of the anger from people. But on
the Packers side, I it hurts them right now, but
at the same time, it also doesn't hurt them in
the short term because they are sick. They are what
what seven and one in the in the NFC North
(51:39):
and the Vikings were the next closest team are three
and four. They're not catching them. Nobody's catching them. This
team is taking that division and going to the playoffs
barring a complete and utter collapse, and I think that's
all they want out of Aaron Rodgers. What he does
with his reputation, I think is beyond the Packers at
this point. They don't care. They just I think they realized,
they know their time is limited with their and Rogers
(52:00):
and they're just gonna get whatever they can out of
him at this point. So I don't do you know
what the percentage of people in the country that are
fully vaccinated is right now, not off the top of
my head, Um, I've had at least one dose. And
I only bring that up because there's a lot of
people that when they hear Aaron Rodgers, they're like, Yeah,
(52:21):
that's my guy. That's what he He's preaching what I'm
feeling too, which is intriguing, but it's also it kind
of shows you that sports have done an incredible job,
because I don't I don't know if there's a team
that's under vaccination rate in the NFL, and I don't
know if there's a college football team. There's some places vaccinated,
(52:45):
and yeah, like Tampa's Vegas is there's a power of
when you are not not only that your job is
on the line, but also that of having a collective
responsibility of having to work as as to use the
hack and eyed words, to live in a society, to
look out for each other's back. That is, that is
(53:07):
the power that's being used, that gets used in these teams.
And for whatever reason, Aaron Rodgers not only decided not
to play ball with that, but also to mislead people.
And I like, look, there's probably a larger conversation about
you know, he was very strict about when he started
talking about like, oh, I was never asked a follow
up question. I I don't know. I was raised Catholic.
There's such a thing as a sin of omission and
(53:29):
trying to think you're more clever than someone else, and
he's like, well, I didn't actually lie to you. Guess what,
You're still getting wrapped on the wrist by by by
the nun either way, Like, um, but where do you
stand on this? Um? I think depending on how Jordan's
love looks later tonight, I think it could probably hasten
his departure from Green Bay. Um. But in terms of
(53:50):
everything else, I maybe it was Chris that said it,
maybe it was somebody else. But for so long, Aaron
Rodgers was like the thinking man's quarterback. Yes he statistics
and and yeah he was great. He was the he
was the best quarterback in the NFL if you were
smarter than anybody else. But now we kind of know
that he's just as he's just the same as all
(54:11):
these other guys, like easily swayed, kind of just out
there to the beat of his own drum. Um. And
I like we were talking during the break, like he
just went through a speed run of everything that. You know,
people that we're never going to take the vaccine in
the first place say when you ask them why they
don't know why they don't want to trust you know
(54:32):
what you know when someone is like when they say
when they admit say, oh, I'm kind of a critical
free thinker. That's how you know they've they've been taking
que that they are the absolute opposite, because you know,
I'm not a COVID denier any like that. Like, I
just wanted to make the decision. It was best for
my body. That's it. I wear my mask when I
(54:55):
go out in the public, you know. The only time
I haven't wore my masks when I'm around the all
backs and they to people. My response to those people
would be like, hey, just so you know, I tested
this morning, negative number one and number two. You got
vaccinated against something that you would be worried about me having,
which I just told you I'm negative. To me, I don't.
(55:15):
I can't make any more sense than that. Like, if
I'm in public, I wear a mask, If I'm not,
if I'm by my house, I'm not wearing a mask.
I will find it fascinating though, because it they test
every single day if you're unvaccinated. It's almost and I
say this, you know, not trying to stand on it,
but it's almost as if you're being bullied into Hey, bro,
you're gonna get tested every single day, and it's wild
(55:37):
to me that I like to think I'm in good shape,
but nobody is in better shape as compared to me
than Aaron Rodgers or Carson Wentz are Kirk Cousins. And
yet these guys are the dudes that are it just
it's weird to me. I guess you just have to
look at Freddie Freeman who got it last year, and
then you know when he recovered he said it was
(55:58):
he thought he was going to die. Yeah, like he's
and that that that quote you play or that quote
we played for Aaron Rodgers there is so funny to
me because earlier in the interview he he tried to
cast doubt on the effective effectiveness of the COVID vaccine.
But then there he says, the only time I don't
wear a mask is when I'm around people that are vaccinated.
So like, which is it, Aaron does Does the vaccine
work or does it not work? Because you're undermining yourself.
(56:22):
They're fascinating, all right, Brian Finley, get the last word
on it. Not here to point fingers. Does it make
you think less of Aaron Rodgers? The Packers need to
support him? And how big do you think this is
for Jordan Love Today? Yeah, I think this is huge
for Jordan's love and but I want to go to
a trend here that we've seen from people who have
a lot of power and they feel liking they can
squeak squeak their way around the law a little bit.
(56:44):
I think this is just another example of that, or
people who are high and mighty they feel the opportunity
and the empowerment to try to work through that work
the system a little bit. I can't believe Chris how
embarrassed the media must be, because there are those in
the media who feel like, oh, that athlete, nobody's gonna
get anything by me. But he fooled everybody. He fooled everybody,
(57:09):
and I feel like the disdain they have for him
is because they can't believe that he tricked them the
way he did. And for somebody who has a pedigree
and a track record of outsmarting people, I I still
cannot believe he pulled off this Houdini act as long
as he did, because he had us all played. We
(57:30):
never thraw through his name in there because we heard
the immunized term. But it's just amazing how there's media
that they are so tied to their job in their
profession that nothing is going to get past him or
her except this. I can I push back on that
just a little bit, just because like this is especially
on the idea that like the media is mad about her,
(57:54):
they won't let anything past, especially in well they are,
but especially in sports, like the isn't politics in that
you you have to like constantly push back against people.
A lot of people probably are not doing like when
he says that, you know, I was never asked to
follow up question. They're probably doing that just because being
combative in the realm of sports media, when you have
(58:17):
a relationship with a professional, uh with a professional organization
that can yank your credentials at any time, you're probably
not being overly combative. Because you want that relationship with
Aaron Rodger, you want him to go on your radio
show later on, you want him to give you that
question for that interview. You're not going to just constantly
dog him about that. He just used a different word.
(58:39):
So I mean, yeah, there's there's a lot of eggshells
that are probably being used here. Like I mean, I
can't just say whatever I want about the Lions because
I've got to keep my reputation in mind when you
know it comes time for us to get someone from
the Lions. It's probably the same thing with Packers media
out there, so I I I push back on that
just a little bit. I understand they are mad, but
at the same time, like I I was, what, what
(59:03):
were they supposed to do? Just burn every bridge just
because he used a different word. I don't know about that. Yeah,
And I also think that it's I'm not gonna lie.
I had no idea that there was a difference on
the dope. And I wonder how many people when he
said I've been in me and I like, okay, great,
and he's he's he's got the vaccine. I literally would
have had to say, have someone tell it to me
like a five year old to better understand. But it is.
(59:26):
It has become a fascinating story. I understandably, So you know,
I pulled up It's it's interesting because I pulled up
Pro Football Talk during the break and of the most
commented stories on Pro Football Talk right now, of of
the top ten stories, three of them, well, I guess
(59:46):
the top five would work here. Three of the top
five stories are Aaron Rodgers stories. Aaron Rodgers claims he's
a victim of the woke mob and cancel culture culture.
Aaron Rodgers secretly unvaccinated. Aaron Rodgers claims he was told
by NFL doctors that vaccinated people can't catch her spread COVID.
Aaron Rodgers violated COVID protocol by doing massless, masculess indoor pressers.
(01:00:08):
I mean, it's just it's the most talked about thing,
and depending on which side you fall, it's either something
that you're cheering or you're losing your mind about. So
I it's been a fascinating week and how quickly some
people went from Aaron Rodgers being that's my guy to
being what the hell is up with this dude? We
got more audio to share, but there's also some more
(01:00:30):
news about a current Las Vegas raider. Then we'll get
to next. On a busy Sunday here on Fox Sports Radio,
Tony on Twitter hits this uff. You're too woke for
a rod Probably I don't consider myself woke. Um. I
just you know, it's such a meaningless word. It just
basically means I'm say it's hilarious. Don't get me wrong.
(01:00:53):
I love it when people use it because I'm just like, Okay, great,
and you feel better now you're so woke? Who cares?
I don't feel bad, right Josh, for Rogers getting dumped
on for his actions, and I certainly don't feel bad
for the media who are lied to bleep them both.
They deserve each other. Uh. And then Pete writes on
Twitter Pete and San Ramon smart at football does not
(01:01:15):
mean smart at other things, like being concerned for other
people during a worldwide health crisis. Rogers is an idiot,
regards Pete and San Ramon. Again, like I said, that's
not We've spent three days going down that road, right,
That's kind of been the sports world over the last
seventy two hours. Then of course it kind of gets
(01:01:38):
ratcheted up. Was that on Thursday, maybe Friday whenever Aaron
Rodgers spoke out, So that kind of takes it to
a whole another level. So again, I'm I'm in football mode.
And that's why in my mind those three questions. I
care about public health absolutely. It matters to me. I'm vaccinated.
I want ever want to get vaccinated. I can't if
(01:02:00):
you guys are still shut down in California. I want
everyone to be open up. I want everyone to have
the life that they deserve and that they need and
that we want. UM. But again, I'm not I'm not
looking at Aaron Rodgers as being the ultimate problem in
all of this. I'm just looking at it being very
odd how none of this came up until this week,
(01:02:21):
Like nobody, I'm not kidding. I feel like I know
every NFL player who's unvaccinated with the way that it's
been covered, right we you said there like, oh yeah,
that dude, I heard about him. Or you'll see him
wearing a mask whenever they're doing the presses, which was
interesting because Jordan Love had to wear a mask in
this week because he was considered a close contact. I
look at him more from a football side. How about
(01:02:43):
this one final question on this um and then I've
got tons of notes from the games, including a couple
of things on the Odell Beckham Jr. Dlam and Carson
Wentz as well. But do you think in some teams eyes,
let's just let's say Denver, you think this ages any
desire they might have to go after in this offseason.
I mean, seriously, I don't think so, because he's still
(01:03:06):
Aaron Rodgers at the core of all of this. But
I'll be interested if and I should say, when we
get to the point where they reach that crossroads of
seasons over what are we gonna do if this in
any way changes some team's idea of whether or not
(01:03:27):
they want to go make a play for Aaron Rodgers.
I don't know if the Shawn Watson's vaccinated, because he's
got other it's just needs to worry about. But it
will be very interesting, I think, is this season progresses
to see if the way this has been handled either
a affects his relationship with Green Bay or be affects
the way teams are going to approach him. Because I'll
(01:03:51):
tell you what, this has been as wild a wild
of a couple of days that I can remember in
the NFL in a long time. And I think some
people are mad because they felt like they were deceived.
And I think a lot of people were mad because
when he said this, we all kind of did the
old double take was in. And I consulted with a
(01:04:12):
now good friend of mine, Joe Rogan, after he got COVID,
and I've been doing a lot of this stuff that
he recommended in his podcasts, and you know, on the
phone to me and I'm gonna have the best immunity
possible now based on the two point five million person
study from me as a reel. So, I listened to
(01:04:36):
the Joe Rogan podcast to every now and then, But
the only thing I've taken from it is that dude's
got some gray weed. That's about the only thing. Aaron, So,
you and I caught different things for that podcast, and
I'm not hating on it. I think he's great, He's
built an empire. But I tend to like to talk
to people with doctor in the front of their name regardless.
(01:04:57):
Aaron Rodgers out today, Packers Chiefs coming up? What does
it mean for Green Bay? Now? Going forward? What does
this mean for the long term relationship between the Packers
and Aaron Rodgers? All right, when we come back, let's
dive into this weekend's matchups. Are we in in any way,
shape or form worried about another big upset going down? Today?
(01:05:19):
I'll lay out a couple of games where I think
they could happen next, But first, let's get caught up
on everything in the world of sports with Bride Chris
along the lines of the NFL. That Sunday night game
later today featuring the Rams and Titans. We were discussing
this the new l A ram Von Miller. He's got
the sprained ankle and he is considered a game time decision.
They are going to test out that ankle and warmups
(01:05:41):
to determine if he can play. So something interesting to
keep in mind as that game gets closer to kickoff.
Forty Niners tight end George Kittle is off the IR
with a calf injury. He will play, according to ESPN,
half the amount of his normal snaps today against the Cardinals.
Also San Fran running bank Elijah Mitchell deebo s annual
dealing with injuries. They were originally questionable. Both expected to go.
(01:06:05):
As far as the Cardinal quarterback in Kyler Murray, he
will play or not, depending up on how his sprained
ankle holds up in warmups. So there's that. Also, Ravens
wide receiver Rashan Bateman is going to play through a
groin injury. As far as some of the tidbits from
Saturday in college football, number four Oregon pasting Washington to
(01:06:25):
sixteen Travis Dye, the Duck running back two eleven yards rushing,
one touchdown. As far as number seven Michigan, they hold
off Indiana twenty nine to seven with a nice bounce
back victory after faltering to number three now Michigan State,
but that ranking for the Spartans is set to drop
after they were upset by Purdue forty nine and that
(01:06:48):
is the first loss of the season for m s U.
Number twenty two IAWA finishes off Northwestern seventeen to twelve.
Second ranked Alabama. Teter tonners past l s U twenty
to fourteen as Bama maintained just one loss on the
season even though it got close and Harry at the
end if you are a Bama fans. Sixth ranks Cincinnati
(01:07:10):
flushes down Tulsa to twenty as the Bearcats jump out
to nine and oh on this season. Wins for number
eleven Oklahoma State over West Virginia twenty fourth rank San
Diego State just clinging to a seventeen to ten win
on the road against the Hawaii squad. Arkansas the victor
over seventeenth rank in Mississippi State thirty one to twenty eight.
(01:07:32):
Baylor goes down the twelfth team in the country to
TCU And on the NBA front, Yeah, we had that
big finish from the Dallas Mavericks and what a finished Chris,
you were talking about this the humongous three there that
allowed the MAVs to get it done. I want to
get to that. But first there was the Lakers score,
(01:07:55):
which was a loss for them by fifteen points, and
they go down on the road to the Trailblazers one
oh five to ninety. Anthony Davis is dealing with the
stomach illness. He only played seven minutes. And then of
course no Lebron James. And as far as that Maverick
game one oh seven to one O four Luka done
thirty three points. He was the hero as he hit
that game winning triple. But again, Chris, it's only early November,
(01:08:18):
so some for some it's hard to found them that
it is basketball season. And I think Chris is raising
his hand right now next to a microphone very much, so,
very much so gosh, thanks a lot, Brian Finley. I
I don't know why. And every time I see the highlights,
I'm like, Okay, that that's cool. But it's I feel
like the playoffs just finished. It's like what are we doing?
(01:08:41):
And maybe part of it is that the Lakers kind
of suck right now. That might play into it as well.
I'm not trying to say that the NBA should start
at season on Christmas. That's not my point. That's just
when I engage I I usually have to spend two
days getting caught up on everything. I will say. I
will say I follow a lot of NBA guys on Twitter,
(01:09:04):
and it's fascinating to see how triggered they get, how
angry they get, how mad they get. Whenever someone dares question, man,
why are you getting so caught up in these numbers
this early in the season. They really play the every
game matters card. They're not wrong, but for me right
now as football season, Man, I love basketball, but it
(01:09:24):
you know, the upsets today, the questions about the four
team playoff, the controversy around Aaron Rodgers, and NFL season
that rolls on with so much unknown. Let's go, I mean,
the the teams you like to see be good or good,
teams of TV networks like to see are good or good.
Let's go by the way. Speaking of that, at some point, Prefect,
(01:09:47):
we need to get into your Deep States concerns as
it pertains to college football, which I don't disagree with.
Just to be very clear, to deep deep state in college.
I never thought I'd be talking about the Deep State
eight here on a national sports song radio show. But
I'm ready. Well, I mean, I just I don't think
you're wrong. I will say, here's one thing that makes
(01:10:08):
me kind of mad. I'm gonna get this out. I
keep saying I'm gonna move past college football, but something
happens that angers me. So We've got ESPN on here
in studio and I'm watching, Um I'm taking things into consideration,
is to you know, what's going on and and and
kind of the different opinions here there. And I've made
(01:10:30):
it very clear that one of the teams that I
kind of had a problem, kind of I had a
problem within the top four the first playoffs was Ohio.
It was Oregon because we're gonna out a nice one
over Ohio State, but they got beat by a three
win Stanford team, who again at the time wasn't as
bad as they are now. But they're bad. Here's what
(01:10:50):
I can't allow to happen. And it just happened on ESPN,
and I'm very triggered right now. So I might need
to I might need to listen to Joel Clatt because
he had something really good on calling coward earlier this week.
I get it. We all have our allegiances. It's it's
what makes sports great. And and those of you that
are able to put yours aside and be objective people, congratulations.
(01:11:12):
I can't do that. But I also thinking that I'm
a realist, right, I can't sit here in my right
in mind and tell you that Oklahoma slam dunk number four,
maybe number two team in the country. I need to
see it against Baylor next week. I need to see
it against Iowa State, and they see it against Oklahoma State,
right do they Some might get mad at all. They
just gotta keep proving things too, sure, yeah they do.
(01:11:34):
Here's where I think we allow biases to get in
the way. I'm watching Joey Galloway and he's on with
Jesse Palmer, and in his four team playoff ranking or
his top six, he has Ohio State number two, two
spots ahead of Oregon, who last I checked, fet Ohio State. Now.
(01:11:58):
I understand Joe, Joe's not the sharpest guy with his picks.
I get that, but you can't place Ohio State ahead
of Oregon, especially not after what happened today. I mean,
you're gonna tell me that Ohio States went over Nebraska
was more impressive than what Oregon did over Washington. In
(01:12:20):
that case, it's a push in Ohio State. As much
as I think they're gonna end up in the playoffs,
they're not the second best team in college football right now.
It's just not reality. And Ohio State fans, I think
you know it. I think you get it, like Oklahoma fans,
you get it. Not there yet. In fact, I don't
(01:12:40):
know if there truly is a number two behind Georgia
right now. So every now and then throughout this uh
these last couple of days, all listen to what Joke
Clatt had to say when he was on with Colin
Coward this week, and it calms me down. It's not
healthy to be upset at something that you know is
broken in the first place. Like the structure of our
(01:13:01):
playoff is just totally broken, So trying to make sense
of it right now is is chaotic. He's right, He's right,
and part of the structure is well in my mind,
I'm and maybe a little bit different than what Joe
Clatt sees, but part of the structure in in the
brokenness of it is the lack of true transparency, and
(01:13:24):
you can have as many of these get togethers with
the committee to look past on passed tournaments, and that's great,
but the reality is we need to hear more than
one voice, right, and we need to have more than
four teams, and there needs to be a place at
the table for everybody is broken, and now no one
wants to talk about expansion because everyone's mad that Oklahoma
(01:13:46):
is going to the SEC with Texas and the two
guys that brokered over the last year the deal to
expand the playoffs. I guess found out that his wife
was cheating on him right in around about way using
these teams going to another conference. So I mean, in
my mind, I get it. I I understand it. It's
part of the problem that I'm having because I'm getting
(01:14:08):
mad at a TV show. But I just think it's
people that don't care about college football. They see this
stuff and like, what the hell are you guys doing.
This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life.
You're having a show to announce your top six teams,
and you're gonna have someone that's an expert rank a
team that has an identical resume ahead of a team
that got beat by them. It doesn't make any sense.
(01:14:30):
But then again, mrs college football and a lot of
it has not made any sense at all. And look,
Fickle brought up a great point whenever he was talking
about this too, and that is I don't think the
committee thinks too far ahead. He's right, He's absolutely a
hund percent right. I don't think they play out every
single scenario in their head, in their mind, in their conversations.
(01:14:52):
It gives them a little flexibility, a little leeway. I
don't know exactly who makes all these decisions. I don't
know if they really look that far in strategy, or
do they just throw things out there to create a
little bit more of a buzz and something to talk about.
I'm not sure. I think he's right. I think this
is about creating a conversation, and by god, they're doing
a hell of a job at it. All Right, we
(01:15:12):
gotta break when we come back on Fox Sports Radio.
I keep promising this NFL talk, and I keep falling
back into Aaron Rodgers and of course college football after
a big day, just tuning in, just getting off work. Tonight,
we're falling back an hour for dou knocked off Michigan State,
handing the Spartans their first loss. Alabama held off l
(01:15:33):
s U by final score of fourteen in Wake Forest,
beaten for the first time this season by North Carolina.
We got much more to go on a busy sunday
here on Fox Sports Radio. You'll have to explain to
me after the top of the hour. Something that I
didn't know is that there's not like one massive rollback.
(01:15:54):
I thought there was whenever it comes to daylight savings time. No,
I don't feel like it's like two am everywhere for
each time zone. And here in Los Angeles. The reason
why we're playing time warp and back to Future and
all that stuff is in about what is it eleven minutes,
we'll have to go back the clocks. Let's go um.
So I have this idea. You know, we were talking
(01:16:16):
about work shopping takes. I was work shopping a segment
with Bow that I want to throw by you guys
here for I guess my hour that I get to
redo already happened, right, and and yours is getting ready
to happen. I think if I'm understanding it right. So
before I get that lesson, I was thinking the great
(01:16:40):
sports do over the redo. Uh, whenever I was kiddo
do over and I know, listen this, I don't want
this thing to get dark. Right, It's like I would
have you know, I would have gone after Baby Hitler. No,
no, no no. My point is, is there a sports moment
it that if you could go back and relive it
(01:17:03):
or redo it or change something, it could change the
plight of your franchise, your team, your college, whatever it
might be. If you know, we could do this all
day with drafts, right of just the Raiders would have
decided to go Calvin Johnson over Robert Gallery or I
think that was actually the JaMarcus Russell year. Uh, Larry
Fitzgerald over Robert Gallery. But just I think there's there's
(01:17:27):
certain moments when you think back, like what if what
if Bob Stoops had ever taken the Florida job whenever
he had the opportunity, Or you know, what if Lincoln
Riley had decided he was staying in East Caroline. I'm
being very sooner specific here. Something I'm work shopping because
we kind of get a do over on an hour here.
Most people talk about, oh it's an extra hours sleep, Okay,
(01:17:48):
that's great for us we're working. We just basically have
to work one extra hour. Now. One question, I keep saying,
we're gonna get to football, all right, NFL. We're watching
the highlights of Clemson's in over Louisville tonight, which improved
the preseason top five Clemson Tigers to six and three
on the season, which tonight was fascinating to watch three
(01:18:11):
teams that were the preseason what top ten in what
North Carolina, Clemson. I was state that all played games
that were almost on alternate channels. It's like, oh, yeah,
the Clemson games on the a CC network plus or whatever.
(01:18:32):
But Bo brought up and and and We've been talking
a lot about this during the show tonight, and that
is you put that Clemson logo on the side of
the wake Forest helmet, and Clemson's probably are wake Forest.
In that instance, it's probably someone that people are talking
about worthy of still being in the top four. It's
still Clemson, They're worthy of it. And now you fast
(01:18:54):
forward to next year if Clemson's back and they're rolling,
are they Is it almost as if they didn't skip
a beat or do they have to go back and
kind of rebuild that bridge to relevance. I don't know.
I think they've got questions at the quarterback position. I
like DJ a lot, but he ain't that dude, and
(01:19:15):
at least he hasn't been this year. And I watched
a guy in Spencer Rattler, who I still think it's
a pretty special quarterback, but it took him awhile last
year to kind of get the swing of things, and
then he just got I mean, let's CABLEB. Williams is special.
I think you guys have all seen that. Maybe it
just takes a year for DJ Young to get his
legs under him and he's good to go. There's my
(01:19:36):
college football to wrap up whatever hour we're in the
midst of all. Right to the National Football League. I
am so juiced about a handful of matchups. And I
thought last week, the last few weeks, I have given
us a couple of upsets where you walk away and
you just you're kind of shocked. It's like, wait, did
the did the Jets just beat the Bengals? Did that
(01:20:00):
really happened? I think even for me last week, did
the Patriots just beat the Chargers? I consider that to
be a bit of an upset. Let me give a
couple that I got my eye on here real quick
before we kick off our four or three or whatever
in the midstep. I said this during straight out of Vegas.
(01:20:20):
I think the Browns can beat the Bengals. I don't
think they're being quite handily. But that's not really a
massive upset in a lot of people's eyes, right because
the Browns four and four football team, the Bengals trying
to still say hey, we belong, so that probably wouldn't
be too surprising. Here's one that I think could I
the Falcons have a shot to go beat New Orleans today.
(01:20:40):
I guess I look at that and I see that
number at six, and I think, what do you know
that I don't Vegas? Because last I checked, you know,
I I paid attention to the Denver Broncos. I pretty
much know what Trevor Simeon is all about. I know
(01:21:02):
what he's all about, and he ain't about making plays.
So that kind of threw me off just a little bit.
And then one more game, just for fun, is there
any chance, and I mean any chance that the Niners
(01:21:24):
make this thing interesting with the Cardinals? Now again, that's
that's why. Because the Niners are a three point favorite
and it's at home. But listen, San Francisco has not
been a good football team. Arizona has been fantastic seven
and one, but with Kyler Murray potentially out, it changes
the whole field of that game. Three games that I'm
fascinated by Arizona San Francisco, kind of seeing what might
(01:21:45):
happen between the Falcons and the Saints and the Browns
of the Bengals. So now I've talked about twice in
the span of the first three hours. All right, don't
give up. Don't give up on an NFL team. At
this point, I'm gonna tell you why next, because the
numbers will shot you. On Fox Sports Radio, stick around alright,
our four or five for us here on Fox Sports Radio,
(01:22:08):
Chris Profett, Bo Benson, Brian Finley, and your tweets at
Plank Show. That's the best way to get in touch
with us, or at Fox Sports Radio as always. You
can follow Brian with a Y Finley on Twitter that's
at Brian Finley. You can follow Chris Profett at Chris Profett,
(01:22:31):
and you follow Bob Benson at bow T Benson. Now
I had mentioned that we have officially fallen back, which
Chris Profett it for in me, it's not like some
magical thing that happens all at the same time. Everyone
did it like two hours ago in the Eastern time zone,
(01:22:52):
and it already happened in the Central time zone, and
it's just now happening in the Pacific time zone. Correct, Yeah,
in in states that observe it. I'm pretty sure Arizona
does not actually do daylight savings. How did they get
away with that? That's how? That's right. I've never really
understood daylight savings time. Can I keep my regular time?
I don't like it getting dark at five pm? It's
(01:23:14):
just not fun. This is such a relic of a
bygone time that we just need it. Let me let
me put it this way though, Google sometimes Australia time zones,
and I think, like on the image search, the third
one that comes up just shows you how more insane
it is over there, because suddenly it's sprouts three two
(01:23:35):
different three different time zones because of daylight savings. Like,
we just need to stop doing this. So, I mean,
I don't know if I missed this day in school,
but how did we decide this was going to happen?
And this was like some something they were doing just
in I've heard some apocryphal stories that had a lot
(01:23:55):
to do with like farmers and and kids when they
go to school, or just again, how much you know
light we're getting. I don't remember the actual reason for it,
but either way, it seems like one of those things
that we've been doing forever that we just need to
like stand up and be like, why are we still
doing this? Shouldn't we just stop doing this? Here is
(01:24:16):
one theory. I shall take you back to eighteen because
in eighteen George Hudson, who was an entomologist from New Zealand,
came up with a modern concept of daylight savings time
in what she proposed a two hour time shift so
(01:24:39):
he'd have more time after work of sunshine to go
bug hunting in the summer noon. Who the hell hunts bugs?
I'm intrigued. And so this was just some dude's idea.
I mean, listen, I know that I look back at
something from nineteen ninety and I'm like, I wasn't too
long ago. And now you're like, yeah, bro, that was
like thirty years ago. But I mean that's that's somewhat
(01:25:04):
that's last hundred twenty five years. I mean this is
the thing that goes back to like the sixteen hundreds.
Can we just change it back? We do? They not
realize we have to do five hours of radio tonight.
You just don't You were you were talking about wanting
to like do the you know, sports moments we could
change we had. Did I go back and talk to Georgie? Yeah?
I think I would go back in time and and
hit George Hudson upside the head. Apparently, Apparently, according to
(01:25:28):
the always reliable Google, which has sent me to Spectrum
Local news dot com, you all didn't know you were
getting a daylight savings time lesson tonight. I keep waiting
for the get back to sports tweet. I'm sure it's coming.
It was during World War One. The daylight savings time
was first practically used in nineteen sixteen. Locations within the
(01:25:50):
German Empire said clocks ahead one hour in an effort
to use less power for lighting and to save fuel
for the war effort. Well, why are we doing it?
Something that happened during the German Empire? What are we doing?
In the United States? Daylight savings time was first used
in nineteen eighteen, when a bill introduced the idea of
(01:26:12):
a seasonal time shift. It lasted seven months before the
bill was repealed. Now listen, let's think about this for
a minute. These people in nineteen eighteen knew what was
going on. During World War Two, President Franklin Roosevelt, who
gave us a new deal, re established the idea of
(01:26:33):
daylight savings time. It was called wartime. Wartime began in
nineteen forty two and lasted until the end of nineteen
By the way, this is this is blowing my mind
because this is even more recent than we initially thought.
In nineteen sixty six, the Uniform Time Act established the
(01:26:55):
idea of regulating a yearly time change daylight savings time time,
Would it beginning last Sunday in April and in the
last Sunday in October? Will we miss that deadline? From
six from seven to two thousand and six? Day like
savings time started the first weekend in April running through
the last weekend in October. HM. So we could just
(01:27:18):
change this if we wanted. I mean, there's no star
guide or anything of that nature, right, I mean, if
someone just says, hey, I'm done with it, we can
kind of do what Arizona is doing. We we tried
to in California that the state voted to just stick
to a spring forward um and then the legislatures just
let it die. So yeah, it's disappointing. Fat Mets Almanac.
(01:27:46):
Is that what I need to go check out? Now,
don't get me down this rabbit hole. Here's what happens.
I'm doing a sports show. This is like what always
happens on YouTube. You know what happens to me on YouTube. Hey,
I'm gonna go watch some highlights because Oklama is playing Baylor.
Guess what I end up watching the Oaklama Baylor game
from two thousand and nineteen. Oh look, there's some highlights
(01:28:06):
of the Raiders game last week. Oh I want to
watch the best throws of the two thousand's. Oh my gosh,
there's a documentary of whatever happened to Marcus dupri Wait
a minute, there's a link for where's Jacobe Ford? Now
see this. We can't have this. Julie and I managed
to keep it in sports. I somehow always end up
on like, here's a video on how to turn a
(01:28:27):
sphere inside it is explained by geometrists. This is this
is kind of our bonus hours. So I mean, if
we want to talk about pol Assassin and the monkey here.
It's just our time to time to do it. Hey,
I got some reaction, Okay, one tweet to my idea
of using an hour as a dio a do over.
(01:28:49):
I don't know if that's what the kids call it,
but that's what eleven year old Chris Plank called it
whenever Max Watson would hit him with the good old
fashioned those red bubber balls and dodgeball, or whenever he
would swing and miss and whiffleball. I want to do
I want to do over sports moments you wish you
could do over, not as you as a player, but
(01:29:11):
just for your team. And Justin and Cincinnati had a
pretty good one here. He's like, my sports two over
would be God's showing Pippen what his career would have
been without Michael Jordan's so he'd shut the f up?
Is pip and really getting under that many people's skin
over the last few weeks. Just I don't I don't
(01:29:33):
get the backlash to Pippen just because well, here was
the thing. The last the Last Dance was basically Michael
Jordan's dictating his entire version of events to the point
where like they were burying a general manager I forget
his name, but he's like dead. He can't really answer
Jerry Ryan's door. They're like they're burying Jerry ryan'sdorf and
(01:29:55):
it's like he's dead. He can't really answer for this. Wait,
hold on, I'm wrong. I'm wrong. It's not Ryan. No
run source the owner crowd. Yeah no, no, I'm sorry
me and me and last names. But either way, like
Scottie Pippens now giving his version of events, I'm supposed
to get mad at him while letting Jordan's slide. I
don't know. It feels like all these guys are just
(01:30:16):
that's just who this bulls teams was a bunch of
petty guys who just somehow stumbled like bumbled and stumbled
and and skilled their way into these these championships, but
just hated each other the whole time, full of hate.
Let the hate flow through you, you know. I I
actually do have a sports do over. I would like
to put out into the world um LCS Game one
(01:30:42):
when Joe Kelly plunked Hanley Hanley Ramires in the rib.
I would like to do that one over, please and
not have Hanley hurt in Game one of that series.
There's there's a lot I could go to. There's a
lot I could go to for mine, but I think
the biggest one is, uh, let's you know, lye in drafting,
Let's go back do it right and draft Aaron Donald
(01:31:05):
and not Eric Ebron. You got me mid drink on
that one. Yes, that's not It doesn't seem like a
hard one that There's a lot of other places I
could go drafted, Joey Harrington, things of that nature, but
I will stick it to you know, maybe getting Aaron
Donald instead of Eric. If Chris is going to do
that one, then I'm going to go back in time
(01:31:25):
after him and make sure they draft Eric Brons not
does not not go to the ramps. I'll tell you what.
There's so many you know they there is a which
might be a great one. So that's a good one,
right because if the Pistons would have gone a different direction,
there's a Drafts are the key to this. But because
(01:31:47):
you think like Kevin Durandath trub Lazers would have drafted
him or Michael Jordans. I mean, it's it's infinite how
long you could go through this process. But I love
the what ifs when it comes to like coaches, right,
I don't know why, and I love the his conversations,
the what if you know? I go back to again
a story I covered. Oklahoma hired Bob Stoops. I think
(01:32:10):
that worked out pretty well. Hall of Famer, rock star,
great dude. The fans wanted jim Donnon Georgia coach. Go
get jim Donnon. So Oklahoma guy, will up us win? Like? Oh,
I don't know about that. I think about how close
Al Davis came to hiring Sean Payton a couple of
different times. How different could the Raiders post Grooen Round
(01:32:31):
one have been with say, Sean Payton as opposed to
Oh gosh, who all did they go through? Real world
shattering one hand? A couple of others? Yeah, go ahead.
What if Nick Saban had actually been able to get
Drew Brees to the Miami Dolphins, Because now, not only
does like Breeze go to the Dolphins and not the Saints,
(01:32:52):
but if Saban managed to stay in the NFL ranks
with any kind of success and not go to Alabama,
and we've just race that Alabama dynasty from history, which
direction would they have gone? Because they were not doing
a good job hiring coaches at that point, so they
were not um gosh, I think, um, what what if?
(01:33:16):
What they would? Would they have eventually gone to like
Dabbo because remember he was a wide receiver's coach at
Clemson at the time. What what ifs are great? I
got one, oh, Brian Finley, Ladies and gentlemen. So Chris
p is definitely going to remember this one vivid lea
because it involved a picture on the Detroit Tigers two
(01:33:38):
thousand and ten Armando Gallarraga. Remember this guy, he had
game and then Jim Joy's the first base umpire totally
blows the call Ruins the perfect game. And then I
think Jim Joyce was crying afterwards because he realized that
he totally missed that in and didn't gallarag and get
(01:34:01):
like a car afterwards or something. Jim joyceon Gallaraga did
make make make up after that, Like it was just
it was a bad situation for everyone. Yeah, you feel
like I got a couple more here too, because I
was thinking about this one. I've so far been such
a sooner and a raider homer on this but what
if Bo Jackson had never gotten hurt? And I'm trying
to think of a way we're talking about a Hall
(01:34:22):
of Famer in multi sports. I mean, here's a dude
that went on to have a great baseball career and
was having one before he got hurt. But that was
that was Maybe a Raiders team that could have had
eyes on this. Could you imagine j Strader being a
starting quarterback for a Super Bowl team? But that's interesting.
I mean, there's a there's a lot of doovers that
(01:34:44):
I would like to have in the world of sports.
I happened to look up great what ifs in sports
and one do over that I would just like to
see in all of these, you'd like to do over
knowing what you know now. I'd love to see if
Alan Iverson would have pursued football. Everyone talked about how
great a college football high school football player he was.
I'd love to see if the Niners had chosen Aaron
(01:35:07):
Rodgers over Alex Smith. I don't know how it would
have worked out, right. We all think Aaron Rodgers is
fantastic as a quarterback, but what if there was something
about his time he needed to mature At Green bet
he would have been thrown right into the fire in
San Francisco. You do this all day, by the way,
So that's how we're celebrating losing an hour sports doovers
(01:35:27):
sports what ifs? If you could go back do it again,
what would you change for your teams? And by the way,
going back to your Handley Ramirez, people forget how key
he was. I I fully believe that if he doesn't
get hurt, that they win the World Series that year
they were on fire. And unless I know, we could
get really dark in this is like I would go
and tell Dale Dale Senior not to race into the Okay, listen,
(01:35:49):
I get that there's this is the this is not
the unfortunate where yes, we all wouldn't want to save
someone's life. But I'm being very greedy here towards our team.
All right, when we come back more of that, I
owe you some record talking, not like forty fives or Vinyl.
But I feel like we are in this race to
(01:36:11):
barry and elevate teams in the NFL, and it's never
made any sense to me. I guess that's the part
of sports radio school that I failed or got a
less than passing grade, because I just can't come in
and tell you all they're done. After eight or nine weeks,
I'll dive into y next busy night in for Bernie
Fratto on Fox Sports Radio London Million seven seven seven
(01:36:34):
on Twitter, I told you, guys, I missed daylight Saving
Time day at school. I don't know if I was sick.
I don't know if I had a chicken pox. At
a Google to find out its origin, I had no idea,
I no clue. I I'm forty six years old, dude,
and I just found out tonight that it's not something
that magically happens all across the world at the same time,
(01:36:58):
across the States at the same time. I found out
that you guys that are your time zoned and my
time zone. We're good. I'm not smart on that front,
he writes. Guys, you sound like sports radio people that
refuse to learn basic non sports things. First of all,
profet bo Thinley don't include them. This is a me problem.
(01:37:21):
I'm the moron. He adds. It's not daylight savings, it's
daylight saving time again. No clue. I don't have to
say the third word. You know what I mean. I
think I right. I've never been corrected on it. This
is the first that's that you want to talk about
(01:37:41):
someone on so that that's just pedantic. I love it.
Shallow and pedantic. Sorry, that's a family I won't go
I won't go shallow on him. I'll just say, like,
I just don't like pedantry. You know what. I I
don't even know what pedantic means. I saw it on
a Family Guy episode in Peter Griffin said shallow and pedantic,
So just go with me. Uh and then he adds,
you don't like is not daylight saving which goes from
(01:38:04):
April to November. You actually want to keep daylight Saving
time all year? Okay, I don't want to fall back there.
You go keep staying time, keep daylight Saving time either
one just keeping. The problem is the shift. It's my problem.
It takes us from going four hours to five hours. Now.
(01:38:24):
Thankfully the sports gods have been incredible and giving a
story upon story upon story, and as I was joking
about with Bob Benson during the break and Fete as well,
we could do five hours of vaccination radio with Aaron
Rodgers if we want, which, by the way, by the way,
I do appreciate the text message and you're listening, which
got me this. This is earlier rod rights. Why aren't
(01:38:47):
you guys mentioning the allergic reaction Rogers had to the vaccine.
You all are just liberal shaming him. What about the
phrase my body, my choice on the second one, that's
just that's that's on that whenever he claimed that he
was allergic to it um. But yeah, I think my body,
(01:39:08):
my choice is not necessarily in reference to the vaccine,
you know. I think we're looking at a much different
phraseology for that. But and here's the other reason why,
Because we're not having a political conversation about it, nor
are we having a conversation about whether or not he
should or should be vaccinated. I brought it up in
a sports sense. It's at gosh. Also, can I can
(01:39:29):
I just say no? No, I'm sorry, go ahead, No, no no,
I I just wait. So we want to kill the
media because they weren't, you know, challenging him on his
terms of vaccine vaccinia versus immunized. But now I'm supposed
to believe him at face value when he says he's
got allergic reaction. I don't know. I mean I feel
like that they have these it's wild. I've learned a
(01:39:54):
lot in my my time as an old man about
out how players sometimes view team doctors because I'm always
a dude that's like a doctor has my best interest
at heart, and some of these dudes look at a
(01:40:15):
team doctor is somebody that's going to tell you whatever
he can to either help the team out, make you
less valuable to the team, what whatever, right. And this
is the whole world that I've learned about over the
last twenty years. So I would assume in this instance
that when he brought up his concerns with his crew,
(01:40:36):
his medical crew, that they were able to then take
that knowledge to those who are determining what protocols he
should have to follow, and they were able to say
whether or not they took it at face value, or
if they could run test whatever to see if he
was truly allergic. I'm assuming a lot of things there.
I don't know. Maybe he just said, maybe someone said
(01:40:59):
it to him so he would have another excuse and
I can vaccinated. I don't know. I don't, but I
know in our conversation about Aaron Rodgers, it was do
you think less of him as a football player? Now,
as far as value to other teams, is just gonna
be a problem in the market, I say, no, hell no,
is it? Is it something you think that's gonna probably
end up costing him endorsements? Well, yeah, he sneeze the
(01:41:19):
wrong way. You can lose an indorsement, and you know that.
Does it lead in any way, shape or form the
door open for Jordan Left Those are the conversations there,
Darryl rights Plank, you just admitted to going one and
four in your college football picks. Leave Vegas alone. Don't
poke the bear. You sound like span your The Saints
are better than the Falcons period. I mean, I don't disagree,
(01:41:45):
but I will say that from my perspective, when you
put Trevor Simeon in at quarterback over either Jamis Winston
or Taysom Hill, it does kind of change that outlook.
I feel like the Las Vegas Raiders are a much
better team than the New York Giants. But if Derek
Carr isn't gonna play, we got an issue. And again
(01:42:08):
that's not a question by any stretch of the imagination.
I'm just using that as a comparison. Oh and one
more real quick before we get our update. We're talking
about so we lost an hour or I'm sorry, we
we gained an hour tonight, so we get a chance
to kind of redo an hour. So instead of being,
you know, a four hour show, were now a five
hour show tonight, which is fine. And I said we
(01:42:30):
should have our sports doovers cop people checking in trying
to call out Scottie Pippen, Jamie Rights. This is simple,
run the damn ball, Pete. You know what's funny because
that's Super Bowl. If Seattle runs the ball, gives it
to Marshawn Lynch and they win, it does create, does
it not? Guys? Kind of an interesting narrative around Tom Brady.
(01:42:52):
Even more so right because when the guys that are
kind of making their hey and crushing too Tom Brady,
they always ping out, well, he shouldn't have won that
Super Bowl because Pete Carroll should have run the football.
And then they point out he he didn't do anything
to win the Super Bowl against the Ramps because that
was defense. The same people want to turn around and
crush Bill Belichick and say he's not a good coach
(01:43:13):
without Tom Brady. I don't know, but I do think
that's one of those kind of sports dominoes right to
where if Seattle wins that Super Bowl, it does change
the picture just a little bit, and who knows what
it might do to seattle a team that's kind of
been struggling to recapture that through either injury or the
(01:43:35):
way their salary cap has been managed. That's a good one.
I can't believe it took us thirty minutes to get
to it. Um, I gotta talk records here at some
point because I think that for some reason and bright,
but keep the tweets, come and appreciate them all on
that playing show. Been bringing up the crew as well.

(01:44:00):
I am fascinated by our incessant need to try to
bury a team when we're not even at the midpoint
of the NFL season. Now a handful of teams right
now I can say, I'm good. You can go ahead
and bury him. Audios, Jacksonville. Nice seeing in Miami. It's
fun to see you guys relevant over the last couple
of years. But good luck, Um gosh, I mean, the
(01:44:24):
Houston Texans aren't very good. There's about three teams right
now that you look at and you can bury and
say their season is over, but I think everyone's still
kind of kicking a bit. I think everyone's still got
a chance, especially in the a f C. I'll dive
into it in moments, but first set caught up on
everything in the world of sports with Brian with the
(01:44:46):
y thank you so much, Chris, and speaking of having
a chance. The Jaguars hoping that James Robinson is going
to be able to play today. He's dealing with that
heel injury listened as questionable, but he's gonna us that
foot out this morning to see how it responds and
see if he can go. They would in Jacksonville certainly
love his services. According to NFL Network, Panthers quarterback Sam
(01:45:11):
Donald has cleared concussion protocol questionable with that shoulder issue,
and so there is sort of this tentative maybe he'll play,
maybe he'll start, maybe he won't. So much to keep
an eye on their Rams or New l a Rams
star and Von Miller sprained his ankle and that seems
to be complicating what could be his introduction to a
(01:45:33):
game at a RAM uniform. What they're gonna do is
they're gonna focus on seeing how that ankle responds in
the pregame exercises today and then determine if he'll be
able to play. Forty Niners Tide and George Kittle is
off the injured reserve with a calf injury, but they
are going to minimize his number of snaps to about
half of what he is accustomed to on the field.
(01:45:54):
Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will play or not, all predicated
on how his sprained ankle holds up in warmups. As
far as college football, from Saturday, we saw number four
Oregon come through after a sluggish start and pop the
Washington Huskies to sixteen. Number seven Michigan devastating Indiana to seven.
(01:46:18):
Kade McNamara had two touched on tauses for the Wolverines.
Number twenty two Iowa polishing off Northwestern seventeen to twelve.
Second rate Alabama grits out of a win twenty to
fourteen against l s U. The Tide had just six
yards of rushing perdue with the buzz kill against Number
three Michigan State forty to twenty nine as the Spartans
(01:46:42):
go down for the first time this season. Number six
Cincinnati remains perfect nine and oh after taking it to
Tulsa eleventh ranked Oklahoma State gets the job do against
West Virginia two to three. Spencer Sanders had to touchdown
tosses Arkansas with the upset over seventeen ranked Michigan, Mississippi
(01:47:04):
State and Mike Leach thirty one to eight. And on
the NBA front, maybe I keep bringing up the score, Chris,
because I know you're a Laker fan and I'm a
Clipper fan, and I might bask in the misery of
Laker underwhelming play where they lose on Saturday by fifteen
(01:47:25):
to the Trailblazers one oh five to ninety and according
to reports, Anthony Davis, you know, he just played seven
minutes because of that stomach illness, but he was puking
multiple times before the game. So I wouldn't say that
the Lakers are puking at this point of the season,
but not maybe heading that direction, you would hope not.
(01:47:45):
I like the analogy. I like the analogy. Thanks Brian,

slash Yes, Nielson Report limitations apply. Okay, let me do
this quick. Um, we're gonna hit all the notes from
me and Rappaport. You heard Brian Finley bring it up.
There is a lot of buzz about the availability today
of one Kyler Murray, who one of my buddies always
calls Kyler Murray. So that's stuck in my head right now,
(01:48:29):
just warning you in case I accidentally say it. But
Ian Rappaport tweeted moments ago at rap Sheet that he'll
try to go, but there isn't a ton of optimism
for it. Now. That's in line with what Adam Schefter
tweeted earlier, but he added that there's a lack of
(01:48:50):
optimism that he's gonna play. Colt McCoy took all the
first team reps in practice. No one has ruled out Murray,
but it appears to be an uphill battle. Will get
into all the notes from rap Sheet and from Adam
Schefter coming up at the top of next hour. Right now, though,
I'm I'm enamored with something that's happening in the National
(01:49:10):
Football League, and it is the across the board burying
of the Kansas City Chiefs, and and maybe I could
throw the Browns in this as well. But why do
we do this every single year? I understand that we
(01:49:31):
work in an industry where kind of hot takes rule right,
and they don't even have to be well researched hot
takes anymore. It's just say something dumb, get some reaction
on Twitter, Boom, you're a rock star. That's just it's
the reality of it. That's why I mean, listen, I
think that's why I think Colin's great research, a lot
(01:49:55):
of work put into it. That's why I dig our guys, man.
I think there's I know there's hard most of us.
I think there's a lot of good stuff that goes
into these these hot sports opinions that we throw out.
But I will never understand why we buried teams so
quickly in the NFL, and by the way, for that matter,
(01:50:15):
we build them up pretty quick too. But I'm being
negative here to start, and again, the centers around this
need to go ahead and say the Chiefs are done
whenever they're sitting at four and four on the season,
are telling me that the Colts stink when they're four
and five on this season, or that even a team
that's over five, like the Steelers at four and three,
(01:50:37):
aren't very good. I'm getting it on the Patriots to
first of all, before we look at the history, have
you looked at the a f C playoff race yet?
And I know I'm falling into a trap here, but
there's that extra playoff team still this season, and that
seventh team in the a f C right now is
(01:50:58):
four and three, which means New England, Kansas City, Cleveland,
Denver are only a half game out of the playoffs
right now. I mean, really, the only teams who are
done are the Jets, Jaguars, Texans, and Dolphins. And if
Mike White could get healthy, you look out for the Jets.
(01:51:20):
But I mean, I mean, seriously, the a f C
is is parody latent, and the team that's at the
top right now at six and two, the number one
seed in the a f C, just lost its best
player for likely the year in Derrick Henry, and the
team that's number two right now, in the Raiders, it's
(01:51:42):
probably had more issues than any team should have to
deal with, period. So First of all, I'm not burying
anyone are saying anyone's done in the a f C
outside of the Jets, the Jaguars, the Texans, in the Dolphins.
Because you're telling me if the Chiefs win a couple
(01:52:03):
of games, which, by the way, they play the Raiders
next week on Sunday Night football, Chiefs win today over
the Packers. They're five and four, they're in the playoffs.
Let's say they get in as a seven or six.
Do you want to see them as a high seed
even if they're coming to your stadium? Not just no,
but hell no. And I get it there next to
last right now in the NFL and turn over margin.
(01:52:25):
But I think it's something that can be fixed. So
let me give you some numbers and I'll go back
far if you want. Let's go for far being five years.
In two thousand and sixteen, the Green Bay Packers were
a four and six football team, four and six. They
went on to the NFC Championship Game that year, finish
(01:52:48):
the year ten in six. In two thousand nineteen, the Chiefs.
The Chiefs were six and four football team and went
to the Super Bowl and one damn thing. Then, by
the way, the Titans were four and five that season
and ended up in the a f C Championship game.
(01:53:12):
There are four and five ft Kansas City might be
four and five after today and still would be good
enough to end up in the day M a f
C Championship game. Go back to last year. Everyone remembers
the incredible post season run by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Right,
Oh my gosh, Tom Brady, look at this offense, Leonard
(01:53:33):
four Nette, playoff, Lenny, you freaking dorks. Oh, look at
Mike Evans and he's he's revived. He wants to stay
here forever. That was a seven and five football team.
In fact, before it's by they had lost three or
four games and they were leaking, or they were leaking
(01:53:53):
heading into their by league. Put together four game winning streak,
then won four more in the playoffs. Next thing you know,
Super Bowl. The Browns last year were a five and
three football team, won six of its last eight. Next
thing you know, they're winning a playoff game. All right,
(01:54:15):
You want to be the positive side of it, you know,
teams that are good and kind of kind of the
bottom might fall out. The Steelers were eleven and oh,
eleven and oh and they finished the season, winning just
one of its final four games to finish twelve and four,
and then lost in the playoffs. So I know it's
(01:54:37):
not the InVogue thing to do. I know it's not
what we're supposed to do here, but it's okay to
take a moment look historically at the fact that good
teams still find a way, and with that, I think
Kansas City is still a good football team. Trust me,
it pains me to say it. I have to fight
every single Sunday night with Arnie about it. It pains
(01:54:59):
me to say it. But you make the playoffs. Let's
say the Raiders persevere and make the playoffs, and let's
say they end up getting in as the three seed.
Do you want to see the Chiefs in the first
round of the playoffs? No, no one does. I mean,
(01:55:22):
I just I've I've never understood why we are so
quick to bury teams. Now, the NFC is a much
different story because you've got some really good teams battling
near the top. You've got three one lost teams in
the Packers, Cardinals, and the Cowboys. We'll see if it
stays that way today. Oh don't forget the Rams too. Sorry,
Bo can't forget your Rams. Buccaneers not too far behind
(01:55:46):
as a two loss team, but that's seventh playoffs spot
in the NFC right now is a four and four
football team. Minnesota is still a lot, San Francisco still
alive by got it Land, and Philly still alive. Hell
live in Seattle at three and five, still alive for
a playoff spot. Now again, I know I'm getting really
(01:56:08):
over my skis here. I I get them, trying not
to get too carried away, because then I look up
and I see the Raiders sitting at five and two,
and I really get giddy. But we have seen teams
overcome and dig out of deeper holes. So too, disappointed
Steeler fans to frustrated Charger fans, both of you two,
(01:56:31):
maybe angry Patriot and definitely bit Chief fan. Right now,
all you need is shot. All you need to do
is get in. And I'm telling you what. The Chiefs
are a team. Three weeks from now, we could be
sitting here going damn, there's seven and four. They got
hot at the right time. It's a good football team,
and we've seen it happened before. In fact, they did
it in twenty nineteen when they were six and four
(01:56:53):
and ended up winning the damn Super Bowl. It happens
now when we come back, Who's in? Who's that? Let's
start seeing the latest from Adam Schefter and Ian Rappaport
at a rap sheet just went through his notes unloaded
the notepad will get into that, plus tons of audio
still to get too from the week that was. I
haven't touched on the raider situation. We've got more college
(01:57:16):
football after a crazy night in college football last night,
and there's an incredible conversation going on around one Odell
Beckham Jr. Do you want him on your roster? Can
he still be a difference maker? It's all coming up
on a busy Sunday. You're on Fox Sports Radio, Fox
Sports Radio in for Bernie Fratto. I'm Chris Plank the
(01:57:38):
cruise here though, carrying me and I love it, along
with Chris Perfette, Bo Benson, Brian Finley and you guys
on Twitter. Okay, so we had brought up and I
and I listened. Right after the top of the hour,
we'll get to all of rap sheets notes, all of
Adam's how must aid Adam Sandler. It's been a long show, guys,
(01:57:59):
all of Adam Schefter's notes and there I'm trying not
to get off on a Vegas Raiders kind of side road.
Julian hit me up on Twitter and writes, with all
the devastating turmoil the Raiders have faced, this is the
best chance they have to win the a f C West. Seriously,
(01:58:21):
you might be right. I just I just don't know, Julian,
how they're gonna keep it all together. This is you know,
David Carr, Derek's older brother, said something real interesting the
other day and it's kind of stayed with me. But
I'm a big Derek Carr guy and always have back
in his days at Fresno two. I love them, and
I've loved him even more as a Raiders quarterback, even
(01:58:42):
though it's a very polarizing conversation. I think until the
last couple of weeks where people realize, oh damn, he's
he's got the potential to be special, especially with the
way that he's you know, handled this as a leader.
And Henry rugs saga and getting back to what David
Carr said, and this is kind of my concern. Derek Carr.
(01:59:03):
It feels responsible and it's hit him hard because I
think he brought up the text message, and he even
questioned in his press conference, hey, did I did I
make it clear enough that I'd always be there for guys?
Someone's life has been lost, their dog and just devastating,
(01:59:26):
horrible story. So I'll you know again. You almost hate
to even segue it to a sports conversation, but that's
what we do. So I say, I I don't know
what we'll see from that team today. I just don't, Julian,
and they could go into the Giants, into new into
the meadow Lands to play the Giants and beat him
(01:59:49):
because they're just a better football team. Or they could
go into the meadow Lands and football could be their
escape and they could dominate. Or they could just be
like enough's enough man, and they could they could get smoked.
I don't know, but one Eastern Raiders Giants will be
a very interesting matchup. I've got more on that coming
(02:00:11):
up next hour, because now another player is causing all
kinds of problems. The topic of this hour, though, because
this has been our hour that we're getting to redo
in a lot of ways, has been great Sports a
do overs, Josh writes Sports do Overs, I'd start by
replaying the second half of the Oilers Bills ninety three
(02:00:32):
playoff game, Christian laaten or misses the shot against Kentucky.
Kauai actually makes his free throws in game six to
close out the heat. You've opened a can of arms.
I can't thinking about Christian Latener. Second half of ninety
three Oilers Bills was the first time I saw my
dad actually really get excited watching a football game. He's
like juiced. I was like, hey, let's go. Well, time
(02:00:55):
sitting there chilling um romosexual for life. I might do
over as a Spurs fan is after the two thousand
and three championship not letting Stephen Jackson walk. He really
hit his peak the years following, and his big time
shot making would have gotten us the back to back
(02:01:17):
we never had during that run. I had thought about that.
It's still weird to me that the Spurs never had
back to back championships. Uh, Coop Right or Justin and
Cincinnati Rights as they do over. I always wondered what
would have happened if the Jets would have traded for
Deshaun Watson and then a few weeks later the allegations
(02:01:38):
come out. Dude, from what I've been told, the Texans
weren't moving on from him. What I've been told, what
we all have heard. But could you imagine if someone
was able to somehow flennagle a deal between themselves and
the Texans and you give up like three first round picks,
two second round picks, and you get Deshaun Watson and
(02:02:00):
then boom a month later, these charges come down. Would
have forced the NFL to do something because he would
have wanted to play. And then Frank writes, how about
the Jesse James no catch that once again gave the
Pats of freeby. Oh and don't forget you know Ben
Roethlisberger through a pick two plays after that December seventeenth,
(02:02:21):
two thousand seventeen. Unreal Patriots on good stuff, keep it
rolling on Twitter at Plank Show at Fox Sports Radio.
We're talking injuries, who's in, Who's out? In a complete
breakdown of the week. I had him, NFL and Fox
all in on the NFL Here in our final hour
of Fox Sports Radio, brought to you by Discover. Discover
(02:02:44):
matches all the cash back you earn on your credit
card at the end of your first year. It's amazing
because discovers accepted at of places in the US to
take credit cards, learn more, discover dot com, slash Yes,
oh what a slate we have in the National Football League,
and news and notes and timots. Now Brian Finley hit
(02:03:07):
on a couple of those, So let's quickly refresh and
reset what we think we know about availability, who's in,
who's out leading into today and tonight's games. All right,
here we go. A J. Brown ahead of the Rams
Titans game. Missed Friday's practice because of a knee issue. Finally,
(02:03:32):
some good news for the Titans. He should be fine
and ready to go today. Meanwhile, the other side of that,
Von Miller, who of course was acquired via trade, may
not end up playing in his first game tonight. Sorry, Bo,
one more week before that defense starts dominating. He's listed
(02:03:54):
as questionable because of an ankle injury. There is pessimism
that he goes wos. The team wants him for the
stretch run, so they may not risk it today. Meanwhile,
wide receiver Robert Woods is good to go. The Niners
and the Cardinals go at it. Elijah Mitchell, running back
(02:04:14):
Deebo Samuel wide receiver, both of whom were limited Thursday
and Friday, should be able to play today barring a
pregame setback. So for the fantasy guy in you, Elijah Mitchell,
Deebo Samuel look good. Adjust accordingly for someone who just
loves football, Hey man, Let's see what more Kyle Shanahan
(02:04:38):
can come up with as it pertains to how he's
going to use Deebo Samuel. Meanwhile, on the Arizona Cardinals
side of things, Uh, you heard Brian Finley's update. Kyler
Murray didn't practice this week at all. The ankle injury,
trying to heal. He'll try to go, but there's not
a lot of confidence, a lot of pessimism, to be
honest with you, sources say Coulton A coy. We took
(02:05:01):
all the first team reps is already. No one has
rolled Kyler Murray out. DeAndre Hopkins, who battled a hamstring
and didn't practice all week, is considered a game time decision.
He almost always plays, but if there is ever an
exception this maybe it Hopkins may try. One of the
(02:05:23):
best stories from last week that's kind of gone under
the radar was learning that DeAndre Hopkins actually just checked
himself back into the game that Thursday night game against
Green Bay didn't talk to anyone, didn't ask, kind of
got away from him and he just jogged out. It's like, oh, hey,
DeAndre is back. Meanwhile, Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Donald Panthers
(02:05:48):
game today. Cleared concussion protocol, but is questionable with a shoulder,
and he too, will work out pregame, sources tell Ian Rappaport.
At minimum, he'll be a backup with hopes that he'll
start and play the entire game. He's coming along. And finally,
(02:06:11):
let's get to a story that's taken us four hours
and four minutes to get to. Yes on this first
day when I'm so confused, where we fall back? Daylight
saving time is no more? By saying that, right, Chris,
I think. But we haven't talked Odell Beckham Jr. Now
(02:06:34):
it's been a week. Oh, it's been a week for Odell,
who on Monday, according to all the media people he
talks to, he was ready to come practice. Braun was
pushing for him. His dad's out on Twitter kind of
videos about how open he is, but he wasn't. He
(02:06:56):
wasn't allowed in the facility. Fact Baker mayfeel was asked
about his relationship with Beckham Jr. Kind of communication going
into it. So we'll see, like I said, more surprised
than anything, as everybody was. Um, So we'll see you
going forward. And there's always room for improvement in any relationship.
(02:07:18):
Baker's an easy target because he doesn't mind being an
easy target. He feeds off that kind of stuff. Right,
this is chip on his shoulder. You say bad things
about him. That fuels him even though he was he
was an elite eleven quarterback who was a walk on
(02:07:38):
its EXAs Tech because he wanted to go to a
power five school. Showed up at Oklahoma. As the legend
goes introduced himself to Bob Stoops. They already had three
or four quarterbacks when Campus beat him all out one Heisman.
He feeds off adversity and doubt. But I think I
(02:07:59):
think in this instance he's he doesn't mind being the
bad guy either. Say all you want, let Daddy go
on Twitter and look like the bad guy. For Odell Beckham,
that's fine because the Browns went to the playoffs and
won a game last year in the playoffs Without Odell Beckham.
He didn't play all year last year, not a game. Well,
I think what a couple of games early, and this
is a Browns team that's just trying to get better.
(02:08:21):
We're not playing how we should be and we want
to be better. We want to be better than That's
that's where we're at right now. So it's time to
look in the mirror and and handle those things internally,
because nothing on the outside is is gonna help us.
It's only gonna create drama. Meanwhile, Baker talked about the
video that Senior put on Twitter. Hurt surprised? Yes, yeah,
(02:08:44):
I think there's there's different things that, um, you know,
play a factor into it. I've had conversations with his
dad before, man to man, face to face, and uh,
I was pretty surprised by the video and you know
the intentions and the feelings behind it. I'd be lying
if I said otherwise. But hurt, No, I'm good. Hurt.
(02:09:05):
Did that hurt? You? A grown ass man? What are
you doing if it? If it hurt your feelings? Why
are you in the NFL? Let dad be dad? Uh?
And then you know, Baker filed fired one final salvo
before it was kind of decided that back and was gone.
(02:09:26):
I'm prepared to do whatever, and you know, if if
he's back, then we'll work through it and do whatever
it takes. I can. I can put my ego and
pride to the side so to win, because that's all
I care about is winning. I mean, that's that's some
good shade right there. I don't know if you guys
caught that or not, but that's good shade. I will
never understand how people can't like that guy, never unless
(02:09:48):
you're a Steelers fan or a Bengals fan or Ravens fan.
I mean, he gives you great content. He's a hard worker,
he's a good quarterback. Oh, Ash Browns fan, you're making
me crazy. Oh he's gotta go really by by that
theory because you won a game with case Keenum against
(02:10:11):
the Broncos. Who think maybe you should move on past
Kareem Hunt. Maybe you should move on past Nick Chubb too,
because a backup running back took you there. The Browns
are going to beat the Bengals today and we're gonna
realize the problem isn't six the problems Zodell Beckham and
(02:10:35):
I think Andrew Barry and the Browns started real life
a strong rock locker room full of a number of professionals,
and I know that their focus is on beating the
Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday. Um, speaking realistically, any decision like this,
the reality is you're not necessarily going to get consensus anywhere. Now. Again,
(02:10:58):
as we sit here, nothing is official right now. Ian
Rappaport reported that Odell Beckham is headed for waivers. So
nothing has happened quite yet. And there's some injuries that
the Browns have to worry about. Geneveon Clowney, quarterback Denzel Ward.
Clowney had an ankle and a knee issue. Ward had
(02:11:19):
a hamstring injury. They're good to go. And Donovan People
Donovan People's Jones is expected to take the place in
the starting lineup of Bode Beckham Jr. Even though he's
been battling a groin injury. But I can't help but
to keep coming back to what Andrew Barry and kom
Stefanski had to say when they talked to When When
(02:11:40):
was this Thursday or Friday? And Barry was asked about
Andrew Barry was asked about, Hey, the focus of trying
to get O'Dell involved. Our coaching staff was very focused
on getting Odell involved. I think, um, you know, if
you look at it first eight weeks of the season,
he was the most targeted pass catcher and he did
it into fewer two fewer games. Now being said, being
(02:12:01):
critical of ourselves, I think, you know, Kevin mentioned earlier
in the week, fit Hey, there were moments where he
thought he could have done a better job of, you know,
exploring Overdella's talents. But the decision was made and it
had to be made. We really do, um, you know,
want all parties to kind of emerge from this successfully.
Um you know. But that being said, there are times
in you know, with you know, business partnerships where things
(02:12:23):
don't just work out, and that's where we are today.
Those decisions are incredibly difficult, um. But at the end
of the day, it's it's it's a decision I felt
was appropriate for our team. Wild. I mean, when when
Cleveland gave up that first round pick and traded Jabrill
Peppers to go get Odell Beckham, we all thought, what
they've got their final piece? What was Cleveland missing? They
(02:12:47):
were missing a number one receiver. Jervis Landry is good,
but they get that number one. Oh, Dell's too much drama.
That's why bo I love your rams as a landing spot.
But I don't think that's a good spot for for
what he can bring. I don't think going to Los
(02:13:10):
Angeles is good for him. I think he's gonna be
more of a mal content. I don't think he's gonna
go to the Raid Raiders. The Raiders need a field stretcher.
They're gonna get to Seawan Jackson, and he's not gonna
have any more targets than he did with the Rams,
but the Sean Jackson's gonna play a key role for
the Raiders. I could see Odell Beckham Jr. Taking the
(02:13:34):
opportunity to go to maybe a bad team where he
knows he's gonna get the ball more. I don't know
if if he's so caught up on having to be
on a playoff team. Do you know who's you know
who's got the first pick in the waiver wire is
the Lions, and the Lions have cap space and bringing
this up for fect to get your take, and they
(02:13:55):
were shopping for receivers Tyrelle Williams has gone. I mean,
is there any chance to Froy takes that risk whenever
it comes available on Monday? Maybe the I I mean,
I I could see it, But at the same time,
like the goal of the Lions right now is to
rebuild this year, So I don't know if like they
could definitely I I the reason why you would make
(02:14:18):
the move is if you want the point of pride
to win a football game, which I would totally get
that in the sense that you know, Dan Campbell wants
to win a football game. Head coach wants to win
a football game, and I think tanking be damned, he
wants that at least for a point of pride, especially
when this team's oh and eight. But I don't know
what Odell like if if these rumors are about Odell,
(02:14:42):
like I guess, I guess the big thing for me
on the Lions and Odell Beckham is this is a
culture with the Lions that really needs people to buy in.
Is Odell ready to buy in on a team that's
going to be losing a lot of football games? I'm
very intrigued, don't don't you kind of think to did
Odell and his agents and and team are probably telling teams, hey,
(02:15:04):
don't claim him, or you know, maybe trying to. They are,
don't don't put an acclaim on this guy e otherwise
he's gonna be uh. I guess they gotta figure out
what matters to him. Does he want to go try
to win? Or does you want to go somewhere where
he's where he's gonna get a ton of targets. Does
he want to go play with a good quarterback or
(02:15:25):
does he? I mean, I don't know, because you could.
I mean, does he does he want to stay in
the a f C to try to stick it to Cleveland?
Do you want to go to the NFC? I mean,
I'm sure he's a talent, right, I mean, the dude
can make plays, but he's also getting older, so as
(02:15:45):
is the Shawan Jackson. I mean, de Sean Jackson got
mad in Los Angeles with one of the best offenses
in the NFL. I mean, who's gonna make that dude happy?
So I don't know, man. I think it's fascinating that
two receivers who we think in theory could help a
lot of football teams, but you don't know if they're
worth worth the headache right now. Options are plenty. New
(02:16:08):
England needs receiver help there for and for football team.
They're right there knocking on the door. Kansas City seems
to always need receiver help. I don't know. Why but
they took a chance on Josh Gordon hasn't worked. Maybe
they look at Odell Beckham. I don't know what their
salary cap situation looks like. I don't know if it
(02:16:29):
would be something where he would take less money to
go there. I don't know the rams would be a
perfect fit. I just I don't know if it would
be something that would be good locker room fitt I
know there's a dude named Aaron Donald who can make
sure that if you're not walking that right path, he
can try to get you on that right path as
a leader in that locker room. I don't know, but
(02:16:49):
I'm fascinated by it. I'm gonna be glued too whenever see.
It's funny because when I think of Waivers perfect, I
think of fantasy. So I don't think it's Winston out
of Midnight like it is for most fantasy leagues. I
think it's like Monday. I'll be interested to see if
anyone claims him, and if he goes through Waivers unclaimed,
fair game. Let's go. Let's see where he wants to go.
(02:17:13):
I would say on my Odell Beckham junior depth chart
teams where I think he could end up. I would
put Detroit there just because they have that first pick
in the waiver wire, just out of curiosity. But in
Kansas City, I think, listen, I I know it might
sound a little bit crazy, but I think Pittsburgh could
(02:17:35):
use a little receiver help. I think that would be
a fascinating fit between him and Big Ben. I don't listen.
Mike Silver is reporting that Vegas isn't interested, but I mean,
I'll throw him in there because it's been a rough
week for Vegas receivers and gosh, you know, you started
looking around the league and think about a team that
(02:17:55):
needs a receiver. And for some reason, I keep seeing
these projections of Dallas, and I'm wondering, why why would
Dallas one Odell Beckham Jr. They got Gallop, they got
Ceedee Lamb, and they've got Mary Cooper. The hell would
you bring a guy into that's gonna complain about catches?
I I don't I don't know. So Odell is a
(02:18:16):
fascinating case study. Right. We went through a lot of
the Cleveland side, very one sided segment here, but in
all reality, the question now becomes does Cleveland get back
to what they were? And more the identity of the
team last year and as Odell Beckham end up becoming
a guy that helps a team in the long run.
(02:18:39):
I know this much. I'm anti Beckham on my team,
but I'm sure as soon as they signed him and
be like, hey, dude, one handed catch Sunday Night Football,
Remember that Odell Beckham. Let's go at Baker never got
on the ball. I could see me turning like a
w W E heel in a heartbeat. All right, let's
(02:19:00):
Odell Beckham Jr. Was not the only receiver in the
headlines this week. Sean Jackson is a free agent. He's
open to sign with anyone he wants. Let's talk about
the devastating news out of Vegas and how this team responds,
and more of their twenty twenty draft class finding issues
we'll get into the next year on Fox Sports Radio.
(02:19:23):
All Right, Um, a real quick breaking news. I guess
is that a fair way to phrase that. You think
bo we knew what was coming? Right? Yeah, I wouldn't
maybe phrasing with the breaking news, but it's not as
if it's an injury or anything. And I think at
that point, right at this time in the morning, when
you say breaking news like who's hurt, who's not playing?
(02:19:44):
What am I missing? Well, a lot of conversations about
protocols and the Green Bay Packers right with Aaron Rodgers
this week and kind of his non mask wearing in
certain instances, including meetings with the media. Well. Adam Schefter
is reporting moments ago that multiple coaches and front office
(02:20:08):
executives have complained that their teams apparently were held two
different standards relating to COVID nineteen protocols over the summer,
then the Green Bay Packers. While the NFL instructed teams
that unvaccinated players were required to wear masks along the
(02:20:30):
sideline during preseason games, Aaron Rodgers did not. One team
executive said he received a memo from the NFL about
the protocols that read, in part quote, any such individual
with bench access who is not fully vaccinated, except for
active players, shall be required to wear masks at all times.
(02:20:54):
Unvaccinated inactive players must also wear masks. One executive told ESPN.
That's bs what's going on in Green Bay. That's not
what teams were told by the NFL. YadA, YadA, YadA.
The NFL currently is investigating how the Packers handled COVID
nineteen protocols at their facility and around games. The league
(02:21:18):
will be looking into and at video from inside the
team's a training facility to see that masks were being
worn and protocols were being adhered to the league. Also,
the league is also looking into the Halloween party that
multiple Packers players attended, including Aaron Rodgers, when they were
(02:21:44):
seen on social media not wearing masks. The NFL has
rules set up that only a certain number of players
can be together outside of the team's training facility. The
league believes a violation may have been committed. I guess
my question would be this, Okay, what's the penalty? I know, fines,
(02:22:09):
but suspensions aren't gonna happen. Oh here it is Rogers
and the Packers are facing fines but no suspensions. Okay,
I think we can file this one under not so
breaking news, because breaking news has to be surprising, and
this is, uh not surprising. This is not surprising. I mean,
I live in a world where I just, I mean,
(02:22:33):
follow the rules. It's that simple. If you don't, I mean,
I read the article. I didn't read the article, but
I brought up the note from the Peter King article
that if you were unvaccinated. In the NFL, you're treated
like a second class citizen. It's the reality of it.
And I don't even know if that's the proper nomenclature,
but that's how it was described in Peter King's Football
(02:22:57):
Morning in America. So I don't know. I don't know
how anyone would be surprised by this or try to
dodge it. I mean, if anything, that the NFL college
football too, has done a pretty incredible job of not
having players miss games. I mean, I can think of
(02:23:19):
in the team I covered two guys that have missed
a game this year too. I think in the NFL,
my favorite team, I don't think they've had a guy
out did the COVID protocols. I don't think the Raiders
have had a player miss a game now. I think
Jalen was Shard missed the practice earlier this year, but
they've been pretty solid. So I don't know what to
(02:23:43):
make of it, at least from a penalty perspective. But
I would imagine if I was a team that had
been stringent. And I don't know if anyone that says, yeah,
I gonna get my mask, I want to put my
mask on. Let's go I five very few people, right.
I mean, I'm not saying at you shouldn't have to.
I'm just saying I don't see many people celebrating it,
(02:24:04):
and no one wants to. And you're doing it, and
you're told to do it, and you better do it
or you're gonna get fine, and this is gonna happen,
and you're following these rules and you see some of that?
Is it? Heck, God, be pissed now. I don't need
you to go to dad and haven't put together a
video about other guys wearing the masks. That's the NFL's job.
(02:24:26):
Nfls are not good at investigating things. We've learned that.
But it will be well, we'll see what comes of this.
I'm still the most intriguing part in all of this,
before we get to Finlay's update to me, is how
the Packers handled this long term? Not the fines, not
the mask wearing, not the deviation from the truth that
(02:24:48):
Aaron Rodgers had about vaccinations. But how are they going
to handle it now? Long term? Do they stand up
for their guy? Do they? I mean Matt Lafleur. It's
kind of been stuck talking about it, and you know,
he's He's had to answer a lot of very difficult questions.
I thought Leroy Butler was really good, and we'll get
(02:25:10):
to that coming up in just a bit. But I mean,
do they stand by their man and say, you all
got this wrong, we knew from day one, we understood it,
or do they basically say, hey, he kind of went
and did his own thing. I think that's what's gonna
be interesting going forward with the Packers. All Right, So
NFL looking into multiple COVID protocol violations from the Green
(02:25:34):
Bay Packers, Adam Schefter reporting this morning. In the meantime,
Brian Finley has everything you need to know in the
world of sports. What's going on, Brian, Chris, what is
going on is what you were just saying, and not
to say exactly what you said, but but according to ESPN,
as we get ready for another busy slate of NFL games,
according to yeah, ESPN and Adam Schefter, front office decision
(02:25:57):
makers on NFL teams outside of the Packers are complaining
to the NFL that the league is is not stepping
up and enforcing COVID nineteen protocols on the Packers like
they are for other teams. The League is looking into
how well Green Bay followed COVID nineteen guidelines in their
(02:26:18):
team headquarters. They are peering at surveillance videos, They're looking
at Halloween parties, as Chris mentioned, And of course a
lot of this stems from the news that Aaron Rodgers
came down with COVID nineteen and there's some speculation that
he was given a pass and that he was supposed
to be wearing masks on the sidelines of games when
(02:26:38):
he wasn't in and he wasn't, so a lot to
go into that, and certainly more will be coming out
in the time coming up soon as far as injuries
that you need to know coming into this first window
and the ladder windows of today's games. Rams linebacker Von Miller,
he's dealing with the sprained ankle and they're not sure
(02:27:00):
if he's gonna be able to play, trying to make
his debut for l A and that Sunday night game
against the Titans, so they're gonna see how it looks
in pregame exercises. Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray his status is
not so sure. He sprained his ankle, and they're gonna
also look at how it responds in warmups. Wide receiver
DeAndre Hopkins has an ailing hamstring did not practice all week.
(02:27:24):
They are also to having him a game time decision.
Forty Ninerstide and George Kittle off the I r with
a calf injury and he's gonna play but half the
amount of time he usually does, just to sort of
ease him back into the speed of the game. Ravens
wide receiver Roshawn Bateman is going to play through a
groin injury. Jaguar is running back James Robinson dealing with
(02:27:44):
the heel injury and has been listened a questionable and
they are going to analyze his foot and see how
it looks and determine if he can play based upon
how it is functioning out there when it comes to
those pregame at ativities. And just a couple of mentions
from college football that we saw from Saturday. Number four
(02:28:05):
Oregon was standing Washington to sixteen, So the Ducks are
right on that college football playoff conversation. So is Alabama
the number two team in the land as they tam LSU.
The Crimson Tide just six yards rushing. And finally, Chris,
I know you're Tulsa Golden Hurricane. They were so close.
(02:28:26):
They put the pressure on. They followed to number six
Cincinnati twenty of the Bearcats not to know on this season.
How much hope did you have and at what point
of the game did you feel like Tulsa might be
able to do this? Look at my text message real quick, No, because, um,
let's see, my buddy. I was in a group tax
with a couple of friends and I texted them, Uh,
(02:28:51):
Tulsa is gonna win this game, and that was Um.
That was right at the third quarter. So I was
starting to believe in the third quarter and then immediately
that belief was imploded. But hey, I believe for a
long time in the second half of that game. Brian Finley, Chris,
are you taking the blame because do you think as
(02:29:12):
soon as you sent that text that that was the
Thames to turn the complexion of the game, turned the
game around. You Know, Here's what I found out in
my life, Brian, is when I'm overly confident about something
and I talked trash, the exact opposite happens. It's the
Arnie span your effect. I feel like I've been around
him too long. Yes, I gotta get away. Thanks Finley,
appreciate you man. Arnie and I coming up, by the
(02:29:34):
way later tonight, we'll recap all the games from eight
p two eleven Pacific time tend to one Central time,
God's time zone right here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, um,
beyond the Aaron Rodgers uh saga and everything that's gone
into it, a lot of good games coming up today
and so this hour we've talked about Aaron Rodgers and
(02:29:57):
Odell Beckham Jr. Oh boy oh, and I miss Leroy.
Butler was really good in talking about Aaron Rodgers this
week on Fox Sports Radio. Hawrry Irban told us, well
he stood Cole Beasley. Carson wentz, I mean, but I
think Aaron wanted to have it both ways, Colin, and
I think that asked the problem with it. You're throwing
the politics of it. You know, people are going to
(02:30:19):
take the vaccine with then use both presidents names allegedly,
and now he's he's muttered it up so much. Oh
and by the way, that kind of got cut off
a little bit. He wasn't done first. It was shocked
because people of Google and immunized and saccination and semantics
of it. People started scratching their heads. And now they've
(02:30:41):
heard some things from him, and now I think it's confusion.
But he puts people in a bad spot. But it's
kind of a stain on his credibility when it comes
to a leader because he puts his player that risk
by not playing against Kansas City. Yeah, I think that's
a really good point. I think that was great. Now
we got games today. We don't know if von Miller
(02:31:02):
is gonna make his debut tonight. But um, this this
was long, but it was fantastic from von Miller. After
the trade that took place this week, it was like
a movie from coming in to work on on Monday
and I was in the training room and you know,
they said that George wants to talk to me. I've
(02:31:23):
been in the league eleven years, so I already knew
what this talk was gonna be about, you know, and initially,
you know, it hurts. I've been saying it kind of
felt like removing a splinter. You know, at first, it hurts.
You know, it hurts bad. You know, I've been there
for eleven years. I don't know anything else. You know,
I was Denver Bronco and uh, you know, they told
me that I was getting traded to the RAMS. Hurt said,
all my good eyes and you know, looking at my
(02:31:45):
house and look at all the memories that I had
there throughout you know, eleven years. It was it was tough.
You know. When I took off Tuesday morning, though, and
I had a nice view of the mountains and I
told myself, like, hey, taking off, you know, Denver Bronco
went out LANDA. You know, I'm in Los Angeles around
you know, I want to sleep for and fur and
woke up seven and one. You know, it's not it's
not you know, on the back end of things, you know,
(02:32:06):
it's it's not really that bad. And you know it's
better for me, it's better for the organization. And you
just gotta you know that reality seeking. You know. You
you hear stories of you know, the fearsome force him,
and you hear stories of you know, this legendary defense,
and you know, we we want to recreate that they've
been doing. They've been playing great defense all year, you know,
and I just want to add to it. I want
to add some of the things that I do best,
(02:32:28):
you know, my my leadership and my energy and you know,
my my positive vibes might not see it tonight though.
If reports are correct, he's gonna try to give that
ankle a go. If he can't go, they'd rather have
him for the stretch run. They're gonna be patient with him.
Arizona looks like they're gonna be patient tonight this afternoon,
(02:32:48):
I should say, with Kyler Murray as well. We'll see
if he's able to go. Meanwhile, Um, there is no
Aaron Rodgers and arguably one of the most anticipated matchups
that we've had in a while in the National Football League. Now,
I know that things haven't necessarily gone the way that
the chief swunt this year, but this has been a
(02:33:10):
circled matchup regardless between the Kansas City Chiefs and the
Green Bay Packers, and Patrick Mahomes was asked about, Hey,
no Aaron Rodgers COVID he's out. What do you think?
Definitely disappointing. I mean when you get to see you
an all time great um like him play and I've
(02:33:31):
kind of watched this game for a long time, feeling
that I play a somewhere style. He always want to
compete against the best. Hopefully he's healthy. It's not too bad, Um,
I'm sure he'll come back from from it stronger than
he was before. Um, that'll be the what the America's
game or the football game in America whatever Fox has
(02:33:52):
a fancy term. I'm too busy on the red zone.
I think Eastern Central Packers a Chiefs all. So that's
the same time slot for Arizona at San Francisco, which
we learned a little bit about last Thursday night. Now,
I know this is going back a bit and we
don't do this much, but the end of the Packers
(02:34:13):
Cardinals game was fascinating because we spent a lot of
time trying to figure out who screwed up? Was it
A J. Green? Was it Kyler Murray? And apparently A J.
Green has been wearing it quite a bit this week
because Cliff Kingsbury brought it up and stood up for
his due. It had nothing to do with a fault
of somebody. It's one guy thought it was one thing,
(02:34:33):
the other guy thought it was something else. And so
he understands what he's meant to this offense so far
and how much better we've been with him, and I
expect him to continue to just play at a high level. More.
Nobody understands what went on except the people that were
the hair and part of it, and it was um.
One of those deals were a signal based offense and
a signal was misinterpreted and that happens. But it wasn't
(02:34:54):
like he did anything malicious or scrutiny thing up and
just unfortunately happened at that time. I might be a dummy,
but I never thought there was anything malicious. Obviously there
was miscommunication, someone screwed up, but I just I found
it weird the way that was handled. Now, to wrap
up this segment, I want to go with the toughest
(02:35:15):
part of this of this week. I opened the show
like two days ago when this show started talking about
how wild this week was in sports news. But perhaps
nothing was more just gut wrenching than following the story
of Henry Ruts and then watching Derek Carr and Rich
(02:35:38):
Besaccia have to talk about it. Here's what Derek Carr
had to say. In other words, it's not easy to
say anything from a football aspect. Every man in that
locker room kind of feels the same way. But we
have work to do. We had to come out and practice.
We've had film study Monday and Tuesday. You know, like
we have, you know, all of these things that we
still have to do. I don't know the right way
(02:35:58):
to handle it, but I'm doing my best. More my
emotions have been on a roller coaster, so to speak,
this year, and my my heart goes out. But to
the family, to all the families involved, you know you
never wanted No one ever wants to see this. You
know it broke. It broke my wife and I his heart.
The message has to stay the same, Honestly, I don't
want it to right now if I'm selfish, say a
(02:36:20):
lot of different things, But we have a game this
week and I've got a job to do. And then
here's what Raider said. Coach Rich Besachia had to say,
as they try to compartmentalize what happened, we want to
express our sincere condolences to the victims family, and we
think it's important to keep focused on that as we
talk about this tragic event. We're deeply saddened for everyone affected.
(02:36:40):
That being said, we love Henry Rokes. I want him
to know that it's terrible laps in judgment of the
most horrific kind, horrible and in the charges continue to
pile up against him and understandably. So someone had hit
me up on Twitter is like, do you think you'll
play football again? He's going to jail for like twenty years, man,
(02:37:02):
if not more so. I that's the farthest thing from
my mind right now. And I think his mind too.
And the reason why you hear a guy like Derek
Carr say it was hard for him and his wife
is because he'd become tied with Henry Rugs and Henry
Rudds was having a breakout season but a horrible, horrible, horrific,
life changing, life ending decision. So the Raiders are trying
(02:37:26):
to compartmentalize that with their head coach getting fired. And
now you've got Damon Arnette being stupid too. According to
a report on dead Spin, the Raiders cornerback has had
several off the field incidents that might end up with
the first round pick getting caught. Multiple lawsuits and a
(02:37:46):
recent video showed him making threats against someone on Instagram
with a gun. One lawsuit was filed in October of
a couple of months ago. He's accused of causing bodily
injury and a car accident and left the scene. Allegedly,
the second incident took place at a hotel and casino
where he berated an employee who said his car couldn't
(02:38:10):
be recovered from valet because he lost the receipt and
our net. Allegedly spat on the worker and poked him
in the chest and again. That video surfaced on Friday,
in which he repeatedly threatened to kill someone while brandishing
a gun. He's been on I R for more than
a month. A season in which they've been incredible on
(02:38:31):
the field at times, continues to be a challenge off
for the Raiders. Damon Arnett the latest to find himself
in some hot water. When we come back. We'll wrap
up this edition in Fox Sports Radio Sunday, where the
look at the biggest matchups in the key kind of
showdowns as we get ready for Week nine in the
National Football League Here on Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio,

limitations apply. You know I had all these rankings pulled
(02:39:17):
up college football insiders. For instance, um Bill Benders Sporting News,
one of my favorite has his top four in the
college football playoff right now is Georgia one, Bama two,
Oklahoma three, Cincinnati four, with Oregon five in Ohio State six.
But I'm not doing it. I'm not doing it to
wrap the show up. I'm not because I'm not gonna
(02:39:39):
get triggered. I'm not gonna get mad by this. I'm
going to enjoy that. We have a full slate of
the National Football League ahead of us for Week nine,
which from a weather perspective, looks pretty good. You know,
there was some concerns last week, but maybe a little
(02:40:01):
cold in a few places. I don't think we're gonna
end up with a Oregon Washington type weather setting, but
maybe maybe or San Francisco, Indie for that matter. But
it looks like maybe a chance for showers in the
Bills Jaguars game a little bit later on this afternoon,
(02:40:21):
one eastern, and that's about it. So should be pleasant
even in New York slash East Retherford, New Jersey for
the Raiders and the Giants. I find that, and not
just because I'm a Raiders guy. But I find that
to be the most interesting game of the day, just
to see how the Raiders react. And there I've brought
(02:40:43):
this up a lot tonight. I don't even feel good
saying that with everything that's happened this week. I mean it,
it's horrible. I think about, you know, Monday, when that
story started a surface and you hear hey, Henry Ruggs
was involved in a car wreck. Immediately your first thought is, well,
is he okay? What happened with do you get hit?
(02:41:06):
Was he out late? Was it a drunk driver? And
then lo and behold it was him and it took
someone's life. It's just it's it's horrible. And to see
what this team has gone through. I don't know what
to expect today. Fascinating matchup one Eastern Raiders and Giants.
All right, um, Prefect, I owe you an apology because
we didn't get to your soccer segment tonight. Oh no,
(02:41:28):
that's fine. I feel bad. Is there anything I need
to keep an eye on today? Well? There was last
There was yesterday the Manchester derby between Manchester City and
Manchester United. And if you listen to my usual segment
with Bernie, I had talked about Manchester United manager on
a gunners score, Sculture, who had kind of got himself
(02:41:51):
a little bit of reprieve after he beat the tar
out of Tottenham Hotspur, which actually caused their manager Do
San Santo excuse me, uh, their manager Santo to be
fired and now Sculture might be right back on the
hot seat because um they they lost pretty badly to
Manchester City, which I mean, my, my, My main point
(02:42:14):
in doing that segment was, man, you think we've got
hot seats over you? Guys hate fired like you're changing
your underwear. We're talking about hot seats in Santo Santo
had been hired in like the end of June, and
he's already fired well, as is already Spaniard running the
(02:42:36):
front offices of those leagues, because that's kind of how
I think it would go if he did any which
is they're just the most replaceable piece over there. There
you go, So we got it in. I feel good
thanks to Chris Prefect, great job on the board, bow
crushed in Man, always love hanging out with you. We'll
get the Sooners up to number two at some point
in the playoff rankings. Brian Finley awesome on updates. As always,
(02:42:57):
I'll be back tonight with the thinking genius Arnie Spanier
from ten p to one a Central Time. And uh
I think what Brian no Andy Furman coming up next
to truly kick off your football Sunday. Man, It's gonna
be a fascinating day. We'll see where it ends up,
and we'll be here to wrap it up at ten
o'clock tonight on Fox Sports Radio
