Speaker 4 (00:36):
From your tailgame.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Here's Brian Nook, former Penn State All American, Rich Hornberger
and FSR betting analyst Jared Smith.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Oh, good morning, Welcome in.
Speaker 6 (00:47):
Here's we get you all set for another fine week
of college football action.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
A couple of big games in the SEC. It's gonna beautiful.
Speaker 6 (00:57):
We'll get knee deep in the breakdowns. But just an
dip our big toe in the waters over there.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
The Dogs Georgia.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
At ole Miss, Fama at LSU.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Good morning, fellas. I gotta ask you, which game are
you looking forward to more?
Speaker 6 (01:12):
Probably Sally Georgia ole Miss If.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, And here's the reason why, because I feel like
this is determining whether or not ole Miss makes college
football playoff. At seven and two, the Rebels, they really
can't afford another loss, and so they lose this game.
It's curtains. I don't see a three loss ole Miss
team sneaking their way into the top twelve. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
I think the other game feels like a play in game,
which is exciting, even though it's not officially that, it
does feel like the LSU Bamba loser is probably out.
I don't know. That's a tough question. That's like asking
what I like more pizza cheeseburgers. They're both, They're both
right at the top of the list. I would lean,
(01:59):
I would lean. I would lean Georgia ole Miss because
I have two bets on that game and only one
on Lsubama. But that's probably the only.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
Kind of back to betting.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
I mean, when it all else is equal.
Speaker 6 (02:15):
Right, Yeah, yeah, no, I'm so excited for both games.
And man, that Bama LSU game. Think about the heat
on the head coach that loses that game. You know,
do you see the LSU faithful say, you know what,
just give Brian Kelly a little bit of time over here?
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Do you see the Bama faithful saying.
Speaker 6 (02:33):
You know, Kaylin de boor it's a it's not a
smooth transition. From Saban. But just you know, let's not
panic over here, let's not overreact. No, they're gonna go
at those coaches throats depending on who loses in the
nightcap here.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
Yeah, I mean, essentially, the LSU Alabama game is a
playoff game. It's an elimination game. Whoever loses this game
is out. And on the side of you know, the
Bulldog's Rebels game, there's all only one team that could
really essentially be eliminated with the loss in that game.
So yeah, when when when you put it that way,
(03:07):
and you also put stakes on who potentially could be
coaching one side or the other at the conclusion of
the night you know, or season for that matter. Yeah, yeah,
maybe LSU and Bama after some second thought and a
quick and a quick a quick recap, Yeah, maybe maybe
that could be the more important game. I know, I
(03:28):
know this about college football this season, the NIL, the
transfer portal, or maybe it's just social media and the
ability for players to view things from AFAR with a
little bit more clarity before they're making their choice what
program they want to join, has created so much parody
that it's made this season and maybe last season two
(03:49):
a lot more fun like you don't know who is
going to take the crown this year. There is no
you know, Emergent, Hey, this is the best team in
the nation and everybody underneath them, anybody can win this thing.
And I really love that. I love parody in sports.
I think college football is finally starting to take the
turn toward parody.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Yeah, that's the beauty of this postseason too. Like this
new postseason. The one thing I've noticed at least that
I know we're going to get to the committee stuff
and the rankings, but I based on the first reveal,
it seems like we're kind of moving towards quality losses
over quality wins, and I think that is an intriguing
(04:32):
Like to me, that's like the definition of parody. Like
when you're not worried about your wins anymore and you're
only worried about your losses. That kind of levels the
playing field, Like as long as you don't have the
bad loss on your resume, you're going to be considered.
And I think that's the most intriguing part of this
based on what I've seen over the last few days
(04:52):
and how these teams are slotting out, like it is
a totally different like It's almost like you have to
re establish your baseline for what you think a good
football team is and then go from there because your
prior feelings of good football team. For example, we have
a very different vibe of LSU Bama tonight. If it's
(05:13):
a four team field doesn't really matter, Like it's not
really a big deal. It's just another game and death
Valley on a Saturday night. It doesn't really have playoff implications.
Bama LSU two losses aren't getting it. But now it's like, oh,
raised up on this pedestal.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
So I am.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
I'm very excited about the next four weeks. I think
it's gonna be chaos.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Yeah, it should be a lot of fun.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
And look, we haven't seen the twelve team playoff watered
down any matchups to your point, Jared, we've seen it
spruce them up. Maybe in the next couple of weeks
we will get a watered down matchup or two, But
for the most part, it's been great thus far. And
I also think even if you get one of those
(05:57):
highly ranked versus highly ranked, maybe watered down end of
the regular season matchups a lot.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Of hyphens right there, I just said right there. But
even if you do. They're seating implications right there.
Speaker 6 (06:10):
There might be a bye week on the line if
they're both vying for a conference title. So I haven't
seen the twelve team playoff watered down many of the
matchups yet, and I don't anticipate many being watered down.
I like your point too rich about college football parody.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
Man.
Speaker 6 (06:26):
We have been aching for this for the longest and
you don't have that team that's just towering above the rest.
It was for so many years it was like all right,
fourteen playoff Bama Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, like Rinson repeat.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
And this season it feels wide open. It really does.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
I don't know if we'll look back after the playoffs
are over and done with and do the same thing
Bama Georgia, But as of right now, it seems like
a lot of teams have the possibility of running the
table if they get into playoff well.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
And we all know how fluky football can be, so
when you have a twelve team format, you know there's
gonna be one oddity, one really bad loss and upset
that's going to factor in and shake up how the
remainder of the playoff plays out. And that's what I
love about this is, you know, when it was Ohio State, Clemson, Bama, Georgia,
(07:25):
there was usually a team or maybe two teams that
you said, yeah, there's your final right there, and that's
how this whole thing's gonna shake out. And it's probably
gonna be Bama, or it's probably gonna be Georgia, whatever
it was. When there's only four teams, it just becomes
a little too predictable. But when you have an expanded playoff,
you have an opportunity for I don't know, an upstart
(07:46):
Boise State team to shake your tree, you know, or
you know, I don't and hey, that could be tough
sledding for you know, for a Boise State against I
mean whatever, call it a Ohio State, call it Penn State,
whoever they end up getting slated against in the postseason.
But with the running back that talented and some of
the metal being tested over the course of the season,
(08:08):
a close one against Oregon and a loss for Boise
you could you could see, you could see the potential
for a runer storyline making its way into the playoffs,
whereas before that felt impossible. And then you look like
at a team like Indiana, you know, say they remain undefeated,
but they're a lower seed heading into the postseason. You
don't think they're gonna be hungry. I mean Signetti, he
(08:32):
just wins Google him, you know, So you know the
Hoosiers are gonna be hungry and looking upset somebody. And
that's what I love about this too, is it opens
the door for so much conversation on the front porch
of the playoffs. But like you said, Brian, we don't
know how this is gonna shake out. It could end
up just being Georgia by mile and we all go
back to our little, our little homes and we say, well,
(08:55):
I guess, I guess nothing's changed after all, and we
tuck ourselves in after the postseas.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Yeah,
I think Indiana might, I'll be honest. I the committee
kind of made a statement with Indiana. I don't know
if they're in with one loss, depending on how that
loss goes. Again, I think what we're and we're calling
now whoever I forget his name, the person who did
the television interview after the rankings were revealed, but we're
(09:25):
gonna call him the CFP kingpin going forward, because he
just he gave us some He gave us some really
good nuggets, gave us some really good I think initial
things to chew on. I think the quality losses thing matters,
and I think Indiana is the perfect example. They're gonna
play Ohio. First of all, I have to get pass
Michigan tonight, and we'll see about that game. I know
(09:45):
that they should win that game. Their favorite to win
that game. But then they get the game next week
at Ohio State or I think it's in two weeks
after they're bye. If they lose that game by forty,
I don't know if they're getting in with one loss
based on where they're slotted right now. Now, maybe things
change and other teams lose in front of them and
it all kind of balances out. But I think the
(10:07):
how you lose matters more this year than how you win.
If you're gonna lose, it better be tight and it
better not be to a cupcake. If you're gonna get
beat by forty, I think you're gonna get downgraded more.
And I think the biggest thing, too, is when we
get these teams that play in their conference championship games,
because that can be a disadvantage this year. For example,
(10:29):
in the SEC, it might be a disadvantage to play
in the conference championship game. I know that sounds crazy,
but if you're Georgia, wouldn't you rather just be the
five seed or excuse me, be just that first team
in and avoid all of the madness not have to
play a one in the second round. So kind of
(10:50):
the way the bracket's gonna show. I'm fast, and honestly,
the dynamics of the bracket over the next month is
gonna be really interesting. But I don't think the ACC
is getting a second team in, and I don't think
Indiana's going to get in if they get their butts
kicked by Ohio State.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
Well, we got our first glimpse of the college football
playoff poll this week, and it was funny when the
when the rankings were released, I thought of an old
grade school coach, guy by the name of Cliff Harris,
who passed away recently. Not to get too grim, awesome guy,
and at the end of practice sometimes he would say questions, criticisms, cusswords.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
That's what he would say. And I thought about Cliff Harris.
Speaker 6 (11:29):
Coach Harris, you know, based on the CFP rankings. Same
thing applies to you, guys, any questions, criticisms, cuss words.
For me, it's a little bit what Jared was talking
about there where. If you compare a couple of teams,
for instance, Indiana hasn't played anybody, they're nine to zero,
but Miami hasn't played anybody either. They're nine to oh
(11:50):
same record. Miami's fourth, Indiana's eighth. Yeah, I hate when
the past impacts the present, I really do, and you
know as well as I do. Cam Ward is electric.
But this has more to do with we've seen the
Canes have success. Indiana never has. They're nine to zero
for the first time in program history.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
I don't like that.
Speaker 6 (12:10):
And the other thing I don't like is something you
alluded to, Jared, these quality losses. It's like, okay, look
at Penn State's resume. I don't want to talk too
much trash over here.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
No no talk loss if you if you won't, I
will next.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Dude, Because what is Penn State's resume?
Speaker 6 (12:27):
So they got kicked in the teeth by Ohio State,
they beat Illinois, that's their resume and they're sixth. Meanwhile
BYU who doesn't have an impressive schedule, but they've got
a zero in the l column, right, Like, their body
of work is absolutely comparable to Penn State's body of work.
But because Penn State has had more history and a
(12:49):
rich tradition no pun intended with rich herdn Berger on
the show rich tradition right in two ways, yeah, right, right,
they have the higher ranking. I hate when the past
impacts the present.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
It absolutely does.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Yeah, the BYU ninth ranking and the Indiana outside the
top five or a very least below for one loss teams.
I feel like both of those are underrated teams. And
I feel like the Penn State and Indy Lyons at
their seed at number six, they're overrated, you know. So,
(13:22):
I mean, and this could be a matter of one
or two seeds in terms of changes, But yeah, I
don't think you can have an undefeated in Indiana under
a excuse me, a one loss Penn State because again,
if you're gonna make the strength of schedule conversation true
for Indiana and not for Penn State, then what are
(13:43):
we really doing here? It's they play in the same conference,
they play against similar opponents. You know, I hated the
last of Ohio State. I wish it turned out differently,
and they had several bites at the apple to make
that end score. But the score is the score. They
have one loss on the resume, you have a team
going perfect. It is really, really, really hard to be
(14:06):
an undefeated football team. I cannot stress that enough. To
keep a zero in the L column the entire season,
even to this point is a I mean, it's a
master work that the Hoosiers have pulled off this season,
and so for them not to be rewarded at least
early in the season, you know, in terms of the
CFP rankings, I don't like it. Again, does it matter?
(14:30):
Not necessarily Things will shake up and look very differently
next week and the week following, But at least for now,
Indiana is kind of brutally underrated in terms right now,
like they're on the outside. Look at They'll go to
Tennessee to face the balls. If the playoffs began today,
is that fair? No, it's not. So it shouldn't be
(14:52):
this way.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
By the way, in case you were curious, if the
playoff did start today, Ohio State would be an eighteen
point favorite over Boise Tennessee nine and a half at
home against Indiana Texas minus three and a half against BAMA,
Penn State minus six at home against Notre Dame. Those
are the numbers I got from some very smart odds
people this week. Obviously these matchups will change, but for
the context, I think I have an answer as to
(15:15):
why Indiana and BYU were ranked below Penn State. I
think we have this ap pole dilemma because starting the
season in Week one, Penn State was ranked eighth. Miami
was ranked nineteen. So you're starting to see, okay, Miami's undefeated,
haven't played anybody. They're ahead of Penn State, but not significantly.
(15:39):
Indiana was unranked to start the season, so it was
BYU unranked to start the season and they had to
make up that ground to get into the polls, and
the committee just felt like they haven't done enough to
surpass a team like Penn State, who was again a
top ten team heading into the season, and they're one
(16:00):
loss against CFP. Kingpin gave us a very good answer
after the rankings were released. He said, you know, Penn State,
they have a player. I'm surprised I heard Tyler Warren's
name mentioned by this guy, So he's on the radar
of these of these committee members and how close the
loss was to Ohio State. Right, we talked about this
(16:21):
a few minutes ago.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Good loss quality.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
Losses matter a little bit more than quality wins if
you're just looking at quality wins. Indiana has blown out everybody.
But that's not what the Committee is value. Like the
committee told you, we got to see their hand. They
told you what they value in this run around. They
(16:45):
care about how you lose, and they care about the
players you have and the star power you have on
your roster. Those are the two things that are gonna
move the needle. Which means if Indiana loses by fifty
to Ohio State in two weeks, they're not getting in period.
End of story, lost big ten team, they lose their
one big game by a lot, Indiana will not be
(17:05):
in the College of Wall playoff. Same with BYU. And
I think that's just what that's the statement. That's what
I gleaned from the committee from that first reveal on Tuesday.
Speaker 6 (17:14):
Well, let me say this real fast. It's all about
brand names. They can say whatever they want about this
or that. They're all wooed and wowed by brand names.
It's like fireworks when you want ooh, ah, Miami ooh,
Penn State. Ah, that's all it is. That's all it is.
Like if you flip this around, Let's say Indiana had
a higher preseason ranking and here comes this cam Ward Comet, right,
(17:39):
this unranked Miami team, Like they have a much better
chance to surpass Indiana than the other way around. I
think a lot of this is like boxing. Okay, here's
a little comparison for you. You know, in boxing, a challenger
has to go above and beyond to get the nod
in a decision over the champion. Yep, that's the way
it works with the team that's not a brand name
(18:01):
like Indiana. To surpass a team with the brand name
like Miami or Penn State, the little engine that could
has to go above and beyond or they're not going
to get the nod. That's the way it's always worked.
That's probably the way it's always going to work. And
that's what we have as of right now. Hey, it's

got some heavy favorites, heavy favorites here in the top ten.
(19:37):
Five of them are favored by at least twenty one points.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
That's that's a lot of points right there.
Speaker 6 (19:43):
Okay, So if we're going with a couple of these
games rapid fire style, you tell me where you think
the dogs might be barking. We're not talking about an
outright win. We're just talking about a cover over here.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
How about a.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
Team like Maryland? Can I interest you in four and
four Maryland?
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Huh?
Speaker 6 (20:01):
They're catching twenty three in the hook against Oregon. Any takers,
any takers on the turfs?
Speaker 2 (20:07):
This is the one? So really yeah, so here's the
reason why. Okay, let me make this very clear. Oregon
wins this game. Okay, but I think that Maryland it's
been a little bit of a rough season. Okay. You
look at the quarterback situation. They don't have a tongue
of alloa. It's going to be one of those prove
(20:29):
it moments on their schedule. They're four and four heading
to Eugene, and well, I think it's going to be
a rough environment at Autsin for him. And I do
think the Ducks can pound opponents, especially on their home turf.
I feel like this is a letdown spot for Oregon
where they don't come out quite as you know, how
(20:51):
should I describe confident or eager to get this W.
They'll get the W, but they'll sleep walk through this game,
if you're asking me, because the needed factor is so
high for the Terrapins to prove that, mainly to themselves
in their fan base, that they still can hang in
this Big ten conference. It's just been such a herky
(21:14):
jerky season for them so far that I think just
going out to Oregon and showing up for one is
going to be a big moment on their dance cards.
So yeah, give me Maryland in this one. I'll take
the points. I'll roll with the Terps.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
I agree. I agree, Maryland. Off the by the number
came down. It opened twenty seven, it quickly got down
to twenty four, and then we've kind of seen it
drift down. I even saw twenty three out there before,
you know, we saw a little bit, a little bit
of Oregon money. It seemed like twenty three was where
the Sharps were willing to step in and bet some
(21:50):
of the favorite here. But organ doesn't need style points.
I mean, they're styling their number one team right now
in the rankings. All they need to do is essentially
out and they will be the number one seed in
the College Football Playoff. I know that's easier said than done,
but it feels like that's kind of like. This feels
(22:10):
like Dan Lanning's best team. This feels like better this.
It feels like Gabriel is a little bit more has
a little more upside than bo Nicks did. And it
feels like the things that they didn't do well last year,
which is finish games, I think they're a little bit
more in depth of doing that this year. So as
(22:31):
much as Oregon is the best team in the country,
they don't need style points. They only beat Michigan by
twenty one. Is Michigan better than Maryland?
Speaker 3 (22:39):
I don't think.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
So.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
You know what Oregon makes me think of? Dave Chappelle
for this reason. Okay, so I love it. So Dave Chappelle,
he was doing a comedy special and he told this joke.
He said, he's got a reputation as a lazy comic. Okay,
and he said, which he doesn't understand. He works hard.
He's on the on two all the time. But he says,
(23:01):
every now and then he'll tell a joke and not
that many people will laugh, but a few people will
laugh really really hard, and he'll think to himself, Yeah,
that's good enough.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
And that's what Oregon reminds me.
Speaker 6 (23:15):
Oregon reminds me of what Dave Chappelle explained about himself,
where they're just like, yeah, that's good enough. We beat
UCLA by whatever it was, you know, seventeen, or they
could have blown the doors off of them. They won
by twenty one. But it's just this lazy second half.
They're like, we won the game, who cares. They are
(23:37):
just not focused on style points and in a matchup
where they've got to cover twenty three and a half,
that could come back to bite you. I'm just waiting
for the game where Oregon is like, screw it, let's
just we're firing on all cylinders. They just look dominant
and they bulldoze a team like Maryland. It could happen today,
but to your point, Rich, I wouldn't be surprised if
(23:57):
the opposite happens. Let's throw one other heavy favorite, the
heaviest of the top ten favorites, Ohio State. They are
favored by thirty seven and a half against lowly Perdue.
What do you think the dog's barking in this one?
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Rich no chance? But I say no chance, I mean
no chance. All right. So this team, this Purdue team,
not only have they lost a lot, but they've lost
by a tremendous amount of points fifty nine points to
Notre Dame, forty six point margin against Wisconsin. They lost
by thirty five to the Ducks. Ohio State likes cashing
(24:32):
in style points when they can run up the scoreboard.
There is absolutely no way I would put my money
on a dog. This isn't a live dog. This is
a dead dog. This is a very dead dog. Stay
away from this dog. I'm sorry, Jack Pott. I know, Jared,
I know your dog is sleeping somewhere in the corridor.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
I hear, but he didn't hear that.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
That is very much a live dog. I'm talking about Perdue,
the tooiletmakers, which you should not put money on.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Yeah, I can't, I can't bet. I can't bet Perdue
today produce one of those teams that when they lose,
it looks like they're the worst team in the country.
Like when they're bad they're bad. Is worse than maybe
anyone else is definitely in the conference, but it's it's
down there. I will So here's the thing about these
(25:18):
two teams, Ohio State in Oorgan. I'm glad we're doing
one and two like the way you view and Ohio
State if the playoffs started today, wouldn't necessarily be the
number two team in the bracket. But they're the number
two team in the country. Do you still think Oregon
is the number one team in the country, Like, when
you close your eyes and you think of the best
team in the country, is it Oregon?
Speaker 7 (25:41):
No?
Speaker 6 (25:42):
But that's the thing is all these top teams have warts.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
Sure, so then who is like, like if you could
pick you're the kinkpin, who's the number one team in
the country today?
Speaker 6 (25:50):
My process of elimination right now, it is Oregon, even
though when I close my eyes, I don't think.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
Oh Doc I would think Georgia is like like to me,
it's Georgia, but that you know, ratings wise and record wise,
maybe it doesn't say that, but I think at their peak,
like I think if every team in the country played
their best game, I think George's best is better than
everyone else's best.
Speaker 6 (26:12):
Yeah, I don't know, Carson Becks sucks all.
Speaker 4 (26:15):
Oh yeah, at his best I'm saying, at his best game,
Carson Beck's best game is better than Dylan Gabriel's best game.
That's That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (26:25):
I hear you, But that's it sounds like we're doing
the NFL draft over here and we're just seduced by
the ceiling and we pay no attention to the floor,
you know.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
What I mean.
Speaker 6 (26:34):
That's what it's turned into. And it's like, at some
point the floor matters too.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
It's not just about the ceiling.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
Yeah, that's why asking the question.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
It is a little bit of like the It's funny
you mentioned floor. It is a little bit like the
show on Netflix. The floor is lava, like you know
what I mean. Like, instead of understanding that most of
the room is lava, when you're talking about the issues
with these teams, you concentrate on the stage hepping stones
because that's where the fun is. Like, is he gonna
(27:03):
leap from the couch to the crumbled mast that looks
like a volcano in the middle of the room. Yeah? Maybe,
But to your point, I bunch Oregon, Ohio State and Georgia,
the top three teams in the CFP polling together. In
my brain, there isn't much discernible separation. The record is
a record. Oregon deserves the top spot, and you mentioned
(27:25):
it by process of elimination, those two teams I just
mentioned eliminated themselves from owning the top spot. But yet
when I close my eyes, it is not a clear picture.
There is no clear number one in the in the
nation right now.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Agreed here here is the difference for me, Kirby Smart
and I think when we get to the Georgia Ole
Miss game later tonight, I think that's where you will
see a difference if Georgia wins. And to me, when
you look at these teams in a nutshell, I think
they're all I think those top three teams you mentioned
(27:58):
Richard are all there. There's not a lot that separates them.
And I think if they all three played their best,
I think all three would be pretty close to each other.
But if I had to rank the coaches, I put
Kirby Smart at the top of the list. And I
think that and I think that is where if we
are looking in the margins to separate a group of
(28:19):
teams that are really close.
Speaker 2 (28:22):
Maybe it's that.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
Coaching staff and Dan Lanning's fantastic, but they haven't gotten
to the top of the mountain yet. Neither is Ryan Att.
So that's where I'm I'm still kind of in the
Georgia camp, but I can't listen. Still time less, I
could change my mind.
Speaker 6 (28:39):
Hey, we got to get to the ugliest way to
lose a football game, but first we have the prettiest
way to win in life, and that would be hearing
from Isaac Glowing Front. He's got the latest, that pretty man,
what's going on?
Speaker 8 (28:53):
I low, it's radio, so take his word for it, America,
Good morning all. NFL media reported short time ago that
the New Orleans Saints are expected to put receiver Chris
o'lave on injured reserve due to a concussion.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
In the NBA.
Speaker 8 (29:08):
On Friday night, the Los Angeles Lakers got a triple
double from Lebron James in a one to sixteen TOTO
six victory over Philadelphia. The Cleveland Cavaliers improved to ten
and zero with a one thirty six, one seventeen win
over Golden State. They led this game at halftime by
forty one points eighty three to forty two and became
the first team at NBA history to what its first
ten games and score at least one hundred and ten
(29:30):
points in each of them. Oklahoma City improved to eight
and one with a one twenty six to oh seven
victory over Houston. Phoenix improved to eight and one with
a one to fourteen, one to thirteen win at Dallas.
Yusuf Nurkic the game winning free throw with point eight
to play. Denver got Niko le Jokicic's third straight triple
double in a one thirty five one twenty two win
(29:50):
over Miami, and Anthony Edwards scored thirty seven and had
nine three pointers in Minnesota's one twenty seven what oh
two victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. Finally, in college basketball,
a charter flight carrying the Auburn men's basketball team to
a road game on Friday had to turn back because
(30:12):
players got into a fight while the plane was in
the air and fellas For the first time in Fox
Sports radio history, we have air traffic control play by play,
you guys ready, oh yeah.
Speaker 9 (30:29):
Yeah, we have got an altercation off board. We talked
to the player demography and land. We got a bunch
of basketball players plot the spot back its secure flat
level is contained for the moment which you had well
police on the ground and the wind two players that
got into the physical for caseous closer rid than one
(30:50):
blooding player and center twenty fifth thirty one. It's kind
of crazy.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Threat level contained.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
It's kind of crazy.
Speaker 8 (31:01):
Roger, Roger, there you go, Air Trump control play by
playing for the first time in Fox Sports Radio history.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
You gotta love it back to you. At top of
the things I don't want to hear from my captain,
that was crazy, I have the number one thing I
don't want to hear from my pilot.
Speaker 8 (31:20):
That isoports that and hey, what's a mountain goat doing here?
Speaker 3 (31:24):
Thirty five? Yeah, there are a few things that could.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
It is Fox Sports Radio is Countdown to Kickoff, presented
by Bett MGM.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Okay, so this has to.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
Be the ugliest way to lose a football game, right
Like you guys might disagree.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
With this, let me know if you do, but.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
We've got uh and I'll tell you I don't want
to give away the matchup first what this pertains to,
but just think of ugly ways to lose a football game, right.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
Think about end of the game.
Speaker 6 (31:54):
You need a hail Mary and the quarterback throws the
ball out of the back of the end zone. I
give yourself a chance, you know what I mean. Or
you need an onside kick the kicker doesn't kick at
ten yards. It's like, just give yourself a chance. Or
maybe another hail mary situation. You can't give up a
hail mary and one of your defensive backs is talking
(32:15):
trash to the crowd as the play is going off,
and you give up.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
A hail Mary.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
Allah.
Speaker 6 (32:20):
The Chicago Bears right. Lots of ugly ways to lose games.
I think this is at the top of the list.
It was Miami last year against Georgia Tech.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 6 (32:30):
The rematch today. All Miami had to do was take
a knee and run the clock out, and they're like, yeah,
let's run a play. Though they fumbled, they gave up
a long touchdown drive they lost.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
All they had to do was take a knee.
Speaker 6 (32:44):
This actually happened last night in the Ucla Iowa game.
Ucla ran an offensive play. All they had to do
was take a knee. It didn't burn them, so no
one cares. But it burned Miami and we care, but
that's the rematch today, and rest assured if they're leading,
cam Ward is taking a niche, they will not let
that ever happen again.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Good news, bad news. Good news is I'm not sure
the status on Haines King, but that is the only
chance that Georgia Tech really has of beating Miami this year.
His backup has been terrible. So if King gets in,
they actually have some quality at receiver. Singleton Junior and
Rutherford have been good, and you can attack the vertical
(33:25):
part of the field against Miami, whose secondary has been
vulnerable this season so far. So that's the matchup to
look at. If King's back in the game, if he's healthy,
and he can attack the deep part of the field
against Miami, you give up a couple explosives. This could
be a longer night than the Hurricanes want to deal with.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
I can't confirm that Haines King is playing, but I
can tell you that the line has moved about a
point towards Georgia Tech in the last hour. Ah And
usually the market sniffs this stuff out before any news
is actually announced. As they said, and all the president's
men follow the money.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
And they do have a Haines King passing yards prop
on bet MGM.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Yeah, I think you're.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
Usually our friends over at bet MGM don't like to
take money on players that aren't playing in the game
because it causes all kinds of other problems that we
don't need to get into on the show. But I
do think Haynes King will play at least start the
game based off of those two things that Brian and
I just told you. I still think this is a
Miami route. I don't think it matters. I think cam
(34:34):
Ward is going to win the Heisman, as I said,
I think a week or two ago. I don't think
there's anything that will change that now barring a loss
for Miami.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Good stuff. All right, Look at that concise Jared concise Smith.
I know, is that not the nickname?
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Right?
Speaker 4 (34:49):
I learned over time.
Speaker 6 (34:54):
We got Jared concise Smith FSR betting analyst here on
the show. We've got Rich Heredenberg Penn State All American.
What it would be Rich Road Greater Ornberger.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Oh, I like that, right.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Rich Road Dog roadad.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
You were on the road last night, right?
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (35:11):
No, San Diego State had a home game.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Yeah, you're a tough loss against New Mexico, the Lobos.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
What's upbout the field at Snapfield? Get like it? It
was like it was like a Scott's lawn Care last night.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
It does look like they're going to replace the turf
before they return home for their last game. It's been
a storyline, it really has.
Speaker 6 (35:28):
Yeah, I just picture anybody that's like, you know, I'll
take over sixty six and a half in that that game,
and then they see the field and they're like, oh guys, gosh,
gumping up next the parl platter. We'll each have a
dog winning out right, will put it together for a
(35:49):
bigger payout as long as it wins, right, we'll compare notes.
Coming up next, it is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to
Kickoff presented by bet MGM. It is Fox Sports Radios
Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM. Every time you make
a wager at BETMGM, you earn BETMGM Rewards points that
can be redeemed for things like bonus bets or converted
to MGM rewards points that could be used towards dining
(36:12):
shows and hotel rooms at over twenty MGM resorts.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
All right, let's do this.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Check this out our late letter.
Speaker 6 (36:22):
Alright, we're all looking at a dog, maybe an outright
winning dog, maybe just a pointspread dog. What we pull
all of our picks together for a greater payout? Shared
will start with you, what are you thinking today?
Speaker 4 (36:35):
I'm excited about this party. I think we collaboration, right,
We're really in tune with each other's picks this week.
I think this is a winner right here. And you
guys know me. I love betting on teams the week
after they fire a coach. It's like it's almost instinctual.
So we're gonna bet. We're gonna bet on West Virginia
today against Cincinnati. They are a road dog at the
bear bat and they just fired their DC Jordan Leslie
(36:57):
during their bye week. In steps, Jeff koons new DC.
I think we'll see a bit of a dead cat
bounce from this West Virginia defense this week. But we're
also seeing a little bit of market movement towards Cincinnati
because of a quarterback switch for West Virginia, and I
think it's an overblown move. Garrett Green out in steps
sophomore Nico Marciol, who was a four star recruits got
a little bit getty, a little bit of giddy up
(37:18):
to him. He's a left handed quarterback mobility. That news
moved the line towards Cincy. But I don't think it's
a downgrade because we've already seen marciol this year. We
saw him last year. He beat Arizona a couple weeks
ago when West Virginia was a dog out there in
the desert. And I think the Mountaineers are live in
this game. Since he can't stop the run, West Virginia
stop runs it. Well, give me the Mountaineers. You can
catch about five points. But let's put them on the
(37:40):
money line here in this spot.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
Okay, all right, here we go. Here we go. This
is like a choose your own adventure situation. And Jared,
how have you helped me with the odds? Here got it, Bud,
We got a money line or a against the spread pick. Now,
Maryland are steep dogs and should be on the road
of four and four football team going into the undefeated
(38:02):
Ducks home territory at Oddson Stadium. If you take the
Maryland money line at the end of this parlay, what
are we looking at?
Speaker 4 (38:10):
Eighty two to one? If you put the money line,
there's Maryland on the money line. Is twelve to one,
which is usually around what the parlay is, right right.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
And now if you take them against the spread, the
parlay hovers somewhere around eleven to one.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Twelve, Yeah, it's around twelve to one yet.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
Okay, all right, So look here, here's an argument for
Maryland winning this game. Out right. They can play pitch
and catch, they can throw the football. They've had success
putting up points against every single competitor. And Mike Loxley,
he's good at hanging with all of the competitors who
should beat them, and he's good at beating and putting
(38:44):
away the teams he should win against. Sales have a
pretty decent rushing attack. Here's the problem is the defense
gives up too much points. But they show flashes. So
if they show enough flashes against the Oregon Ducks offense
and they play that offensive game the way they have
this season, this it could be a closer game than comfortable.
If you could see potentially this coming down to the
fourth quarter. And if it does come down to the
(39:07):
fourth quarter, and you want a spicy parlay, go money
line on the terms. Otherwise, settle for the spread and
be no take us home with the final dog.
Speaker 6 (39:16):
Okay, So I'm going with South Florida. Give me the
bulls at home against Navy today. South Florida does a
good job stopping the rush. That's pretty important against Navy.
Navy just lost a freaking rice. You know this Navy team.
Blake Horvath's a little bit banged up. I'll take South Florida. Now,
(39:36):
this is what's interesting to me. What's the if you
just take Maryland with the point spread? Jared, what's this
three leg parlay?
Speaker 3 (39:43):
Word of the yards?
Speaker 4 (39:44):
So we're going West Virginia money line, South Florida money line,
and in Maryland plus twenty three and a half that
is eleven sixty two. So essentially, you know, almost twelve to.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
One, almost twelve to one. What was it again? With
Maryland winning outright.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
Eighty two to one.
Speaker 6 (40:03):
Can you imagine if Rich calls it perfectly, Number one
goes down at one.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Definite.
Speaker 4 (40:14):
Oh my gosh, oh my god, just that Maryland money
like separate you're good people.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
That does feel like the right bet.
Speaker 6 (40:22):
You got drama one way or the other. We got
drama going on here, all right. We got a huge matchup.
Could this be a big step up for one certain
head coach. Oh, welcome in. I hope your day is
off to a great start. I got great news for you.
College football is on today. Huh how about that? Yeah,
we've got some sexy matchups as well. Some people think
(40:43):
this is the headliner, right, it's either Alabama LSU at
night or it's this one. It's number three Georgia against
number sixteen Old Miss. A lot of different layers. I
think the first major layer is Lane Kiffin. Can Lane
kiffen a major step forward by winning a big game
(41:04):
like this? And if he's able to take down Kirby Smart,
whose resume and record speaks for itself, that'd be a huge,
huge deal for Lane Kiffin. And I understand the reluctance
because in these spots it's been advantaged Kirby Smart all
day over a coach like Lane Kiffin who has some wins,
but he doesn't seem to have the win in the
(41:26):
spot right, And if he's able to get this one,
that's that would go a long way to changing that narrative,
if you will. Another thing to mention the injury report
for Ole Miss or was it twenty seven players initially
made it on this thing?
Speaker 4 (41:42):
Twenty five on Thursday and fifteen yesterday. It's ridiculous that
it's a.
Speaker 6 (41:47):
Lot Lane's It seems like it, right, it seems like
Lane is okay. Does this guy have a hangnail and
he's on the injury report? This guy this goes back
to Greg Sank talking about, you know, faking injuries, which
Old miss has done quite a bit. They're well known
for it. So maybe this is Lane some sort of
(42:08):
weird reaction to that. I don't know what's going on here,
but all I know is a guy who caught five
touchdown passes last week, Jordan Watkins, who seemed totally fine,
was on the injury report.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
He's doubtful for this game. It's like what he's playing.
Speaker 6 (42:22):
Yeah, it seems like he's gonna go even though he
was listed as doubtful.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
But that's something that needs to be mentioned.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
Nevertheless, Yeah, you know, Ole miss In in all likelihood
needs this win to be a playoff contender. If you
think about it, ten and two with a win over
Georgia at the end of the season, it puts him
in prime seating position for the end of the season.
This is their only route that you gotta go through
(42:50):
it to get to it. And right now the through
part of the season is the Bulldogs and they rest
ahead of them here in this game. But yeah, ten
and two sec team with a win over Georgia come
then to the season is enough to make the playoffs
in my mind. So this is a winner you're out
situation for all Miss. For Georgia. You're fending off a
(43:11):
savant with a team that you know has had some
mixed results this season. But Ole Miss, Lane Kiffin coaching
any team is always dangerous and and they're a live
dog today.
Speaker 4 (43:23):
Yeah, market's kind of undecided on this. I would say,
looks like we did see some money on Georgia early
in the week and then once it got to three.
Look like yesterday morning, actually it hit three and that's
where we started to see Ole Miss money come in.
Got down to one last night, and now this morning
Georgia money back to two. So you know, that's kind
(43:44):
of where we're at. I think, you know, a week
eleven SEC game the markets and will Ash Seamus McGee
coming up a little later in this hour, it looks
like these you know, we kind of know what these
teams are, like, we're not gonna get It's not like
early season college basketball where it's like, good luck figuring
out with these team are. Like, after ten games, we
kind of know what these SEC teams are. Same thing
with the power conferences, it's easier to book these games
(44:07):
a little bit later in the year, when the numbers
feel a little bit set. I think these are very
evenly matched teams. I think these are two teams that
have elite defenses. I think these are two teams that
have inconsistent offenses. Most notably, the quarterbacks can be a
little bit trigger happy sometimes Carson Becks throwing a lot
of picks this year. They're not all his fault, but
when he's looked good, he's looked great. Jackson dark. When
(44:29):
they've looked good, they've been explosive, but they're kind of
boom or bust, kind of like Alabama. Actually, I kind
of like an old Missus offense to Alabama. A little
bit different quarterback, but a lot of third and longs,
a lot of you know, explosive plays. But I think
the real edge here, and we talked about this a
little earlier in the show, is I think Kirby Smart's
a much better coach than Link Kiffin, and I think
(44:51):
if you have two equal teams. You take out the
home environment. I know Oxford's tough, but you know, I
think Georgia should be prepared for that. They're not going
to be daunted by any road environment in the SEC.
At this stage, I think the edge is for Georgia
on the sideline. And that's where I struggle with getting
to the window on ole Miss. I think if I
get a three, I would be willing to bet ale Miss.
I don't think you're gonna get a three at this stage.
(45:12):
I think you have to choose. Hey, do I think
ole Miss can win this game? I don't know if
I'm there yet.
Speaker 3 (45:19):
Guys, well, I think they certainly can.
Speaker 6 (45:22):
But will they Yeah? Right, Like that's a major question.
I just go back to Carson Beck. You mentioned the
inconsistency on the offensive end for the Dogs.
Speaker 3 (45:31):
Jared Carson Beck, what's going on with this guy?
Speaker 6 (45:35):
Eight interceptions over the last three games. Think about that, Like,
if you said, all right, good quarterbackspect to be a
first round draft pick?
Speaker 3 (45:45):
Eight interceptions?
Speaker 6 (45:46):
How many games would you think the span would be?
Where you're talking like the season, the better part of it.
At least we're talking three games. He's thrown eight picks
he threw two against Mississippi State, three against Texas, three
against Florida eight in the last three games, way too many.
(46:07):
And the thing is he's a different quarterback when you
pressure him. His completion percentage sucks. It's thirty six percent
when you're pressuring this guy. And that's what Ole Miss
can do. Ole Miss is number one in havoc rate.
We love that, Jared. We have a great stunt And
if you've got an opposing quarterback that is not good
under pressure against the team that puts pressure on you,
(46:29):
that is advantage Ole Miss all day. So one major
question is can Carson Beck thrive under pressure because he
has not this season.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
That's that's the perfect UH conversation to have because the
matchup to watch is in the trenches between Georgia and
Ole Miss. Ole Miss's defensive line is one of the
best in the nation in the Power for they have
forty five sacks, that's good for second place amongst those
four conferences. They have two hundred and one deep pressures
(47:00):
this season, that's good for number one in the nation.
And then you look at Georgia's offensive line, one of
the best groups in the nation. They're really good at
protecting Carson Beck. And they have to be because when
Carson Beck is well protected, he has time in a
clean pocket he can operate. He is terrible under pressure.
Anytime he feels the slightest bit of pressure, he panics,
(47:23):
and so that has led to a lot of those
plays that you've described Brian, because even though it's sparingly
that he is under pressure, when he is, he has
a hard time handling. And sometimes when you're spoiled by
good pass protection. That happens to a quarterback. He's used
to having a clear vision. He knows where to go
with the football. But as soon as you have to
move your feet or get off your spot, or you're
(47:44):
not able to climb the pocket, you really struggle. And
that's been Beck's struggle this season. Yep.
Speaker 4 (47:50):
And here the numbers to back it up. Eighty seven
dropbacks under pressure this year, he's completing less than fifty
percent of his passes five turnover worthy throws. It's a
five percent turnover worth play rate in eighty seven dropbacks
over three hundred and seventy dropbacks kept clean, seventy six
percent completion rate, just six turnover wheth He plays the
turnover whethy play rate drops to one and a half percent,
(48:12):
so a substantial difference. Here's the problem you're facing ole
miss this week. Here's what Kirby Smart said about ole
Missus defense. Big fast, large humans, immovable objects with twitch
and twist. This is a direct quote. They're fast, they're big.
You want to see a good defense, look at fast
and big. They got both. So that's where you get
(48:36):
concerned that Carson Beck might have some off station throws.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
Now.
Speaker 4 (48:41):
To be fair, at some point, Carson Beck's gonna have
to grow up because if he wants to be an
NFL quarterback, go look at Mahomes's pressure numbers.
Speaker 2 (48:51):
They're pretty good.
Speaker 4 (48:52):
Like I'm not comparing Carson Beck to Mahomes, but what
I'm saying is if you want to play in the NFL,
at some point, you've got to show scouts that you
can look down the barrel of the gun and you
can deliver. This year, Carson hasn't done that. He'll get
an opportunity tonight, so we'll see.
Speaker 6 (49:08):
Well, I think a lot of this if you do
sort of like a basketball comparison. I don't know that
there's gonna be in this football game. I don't know
that the running games are gonna be functioning very well
for either team. And if that's the case, it turns
into basketball where you've got really no points in the
paint and it's just a three point shooting contest, really,
(49:30):
and you're trying to handicap that, and it's like, I
don't know, I don't know who's gonna shoot better from
the outside. It's not quite the same thing when we're
talking to quarterbacks. But if this is a game where
it's just it's on Carson Beck, it's on Jackson Dart,
it's a bit. It's the football version of who shoots
better from the outside today, it's like, well, it's not
(49:52):
the easiest thing to predict.
Speaker 3 (49:54):
I just think this.
Speaker 6 (49:56):
You said this earlier in the show, Jared, when we
were talking about the number one team in the country.
When you close your eyes, who do you envision as
the number one team in the country if you play
the same game with this matchup? If you close your eyes,
can you see Georgia winning?
Speaker 4 (50:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (50:09):
When you close your eyes, do you see old miss winning?
I can see it, but it's faint. It's one of
those dreams or like a movie and they're a weird
scene change they're like, what that is the fifth scene,
the first seede, what's going on? It's harder to see
old Miss. That doesn't mean they can't win or they're
not going to win, it's just harder to see them
(50:32):
getting it done.
Speaker 2 (50:33):
I'll give you an opportunity to bet the second half
of this game. If Georgia is running the ball with
confidence early, you can you can bet the favorite in
the second half. I feel well, actually, I know from
watching Georgia games that Carson Beck looks better throwing off
a play action when the run game is going versus
(50:53):
his dropbacks. Anyways, like that is always the recipe for
success with the dogs. However, if they're struggling running the foe,
you have an opportunity to bet the dog in the
second half, and I would because that means it's going
to be a game where George is gonna have to
rely on the drop back and you can only hold
up against a great pass rush for so long. They're
(51:14):
gonna get to your quarterback. And then in those situations,
as you pointed out earlier, Brian, the eight interceptions recently,
it's not good and that puts a dog in play.
So check out the early game running stats for Georgia.
If they're pumping the run, if they're having good yards
per carry, well, then then you could bet the favorite
(51:35):
in the second half. If not, I take the dog
on a second half line.
Speaker 4 (51:40):
Yeah, and again it goes back to scheme, like Kirby
knows the way that the path the ole Miss for
this to win this game obviously is to not turn
it over, but explosive plays to light up that crowd.
You've got the home crowd. It's like it reminds me
of that, you know, the saying in basketball, like don't
(52:01):
let them dunk it, foul them and send them a
line because when they dunk it, it gets the crowd going.
Don't give them Watkins last week at two hundred and
fifty two receiving yards, it was like, you know, bomb City,
don't let them make that explosive play and get the
crowd going. So what does that mean? Probably some light boxes,
(52:22):
probably some cover two deep safeties. Ole Miss is going
to be forced to run the ball in this game.
Can they do it effectively?
Speaker 2 (52:29):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (52:30):
Their offensive line has been a concern in their two
losses this year. Kentucky at four sacks, LSU at six sacks.
So I'm worried about Frankly, I'm worried about both offensive
lines in this game because the game plan for me,
for both defenses, don't let the three point shot beat
you make make Carson Beck, who's at twelve turnover where
he plays in five games, march it methodically down the field.
(52:53):
And that's why under it just screams in the face
for me in this game. I gave out the under
yesterday for the best bet for a better gym video
and because it just feels like one of those games
where neither defense is gonna let you have that explosive play.
Make these teams go eight to ten plays down the
field and score the tough one.
Speaker 3 (53:12):
That's well said. I like that breakdown.
Speaker 6 (53:15):
You know what's great about football is sometimes we become
what we hate, you know. I hate the committee relying
on yesteryear and tradition and ooh Miami, ooh Penn State
and it's like Indiana Bay, you know. But the truth
is sometimes we do that as better as also. And
(53:37):
if you think about this matchup Georgia, Georgia has more
tradition as of late what Kirby Smart has done, They've
had way more success than Old Missus had. But hey, man,
styles make fights and the only thing that matters is today.
Speaker 3 (53:51):
That's it. It's not about last.
Speaker 6 (53:54):
Year or the Dogs winning a couple of championships in
a row. All that matters is today, and I'll go
back to last week. It makes it tough where you
think about Texas A and M was number ten in
the country and it's like, am I gonna take an
unranked South Carolina team? But the styles made fights and
(54:15):
what South Carolina does. They pressure the hell out of you,
and that was not good for Texas A and M.
On the road in that second half was Bulldozer City.
And that's where I think about this matchup with Georgia
and it's like, yeah, I close my eyes, I can
see Georgia winning. I feel more comfortable taking Georgia. That
doesn't mean it's the right side. And when Old Moss
(54:36):
puts all that pressure on an opposing quarterback and Carson
Beck has not done a good job handling it, I
can absolutely see a path to Old miss pulling this
off today.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
Yeah yeah, it's it's fun, right. This is where football
gets really fun and where parody makes matchups, especially in
these power conferences down the stretch of the season so
much better. Now again, is college football perfect?
Speaker 4 (55:00):
No?
Speaker 2 (55:00):
Has nil maybe ruined some things for certain athletic programs,
I'm sure. And have we seen all the unintended consequences
of the transfer portal? Certainly not. But I love this.
This makes me happy. This is a playoff game for
ole Miss. I mean, your season lays in the rest
(55:21):
of the outcome of this game, and to me, that
is wonderful Week eleven in the college football season. I mean,
let's go, this is fun.
Speaker 4 (55:30):
Do you remember the game? Like last year, this was
one of the worst losses ole Miss had in recent memory.
They got absolutely blasted at Athens fifty two seventeen. Jackson
Dart had nothing, Judkins got held to under eighty yards rushing.
It was kind of the loss, and it was at
the end of the year and Ole Miss only had
(55:52):
a couple of you know, cupcakes after that. And then
they of course beat Penn State in the Peach Bowl.
Won't really talk about that, but yeah, you remember, but
that was kind of the turning point for Lane Kiffin
to say we aren't ready to beat the Georgia's. Like
Almos lost two games last year to Georgia and Alabama. Like,
that's where ole Miss is as a program. I think
(56:13):
this is not only a playoff defining game for ole Miss,
this is a program defining game. They struggle when they
manage up. We have not seen Lane kiff and beat
the big boys yet in the SEC. Yeah, he's gonna
have a chance tonight.
Speaker 3 (56:28):
Big chance, big, big chance.
Speaker 6 (56:30):
All right, We've got Rich Herenberger, Penn State, All American,
Rich Roade, what was it? Road Dog Road, Jesse James,
got Jared Smith FSR betting analyst.
Speaker 3 (56:41):
I'm Brian No.

Speaker 1 (57:51):
Follow the money, real good money.
Speaker 6 (57:54):
All right, we are following the money with our good
friend Seamus McGee, team lead of Sports Trading at AGM.
Good morning to you, Seamus. Okay, So this Old Miss
injury report, right, we're talking around twenty seven players listed on.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
This thing during the week. It's a lot.
Speaker 6 (58:12):
As a gambler, I prefer gambler over better. Right, as
a gambler, what do you make of the injury report?
If you're thinking about backing Old Miss.
Speaker 7 (58:21):
Hey, guys, going to be back. Obviously, it's one of
the most important things you have to look at, especially
dealing with college sports, and it's a laundry list of injuries.
But I think what matters most a lot with this
with this Ole Miss team is what's the status of
Jackson Dart And you look at the line movement and
the line really it's if anything, it's starting to charmany
(58:42):
started to come back in on Ole Miss. Here was
two and a half. We're down to a flat two
right now. I'm seeing a couple one and a half's
out there. So it's a bit of an interesting move
here this morning.
Speaker 4 (58:52):
The Bama Alis game, we have not seen a whole
lot of interesting moves, it felt like, and I mentioned
this earlier. You know we're in week eleven. Now, these
are Power Conference teams, Like You've got a pretty good
grip of where we're at, but we haven't seen much
moving off the three with Baman Lsu. I'm guessing Alabama's
getting a lot of love here, but honestly, I don't
really know where the public is a stacking their trips
(59:13):
for this game.
Speaker 7 (59:14):
Shamus, Oh, we got a public dog today in battle Ah.
We've been writing a ton of LSU tickets this week,
plus three the money line. We're definitely rooting for the
Tide in this one at BETMGM.
Speaker 2 (59:27):
Wow, okay, okay, Hey, I want to go off the
beaten path a little bit here. These are probably the
lesser or the games with lesser interest, but we played
this amongst each other earlier. Of these overwhelming favorites, which
dog do you think can bark today? All right? So,
Maryland at Oregon Oregon favorite by twenty three and a half,
(59:49):
Purdue at Ohio State Ohio State favorite thirty seven and
a half, and I don't think we got to it.
But Florida at Texas, Texas favorite twenty one and a half.
I'll give you those three. Which dog do you think
has a barking chance at either covering or potentially coming
out as a money line winner? Please say the Churps.
Please say the Church, Please please say the Terps.
Speaker 7 (01:00:10):
I don't know if I'm there at the Terps covering.
I like Perdue to cover thirty seven and a half.
Prepa winning the game outright is a lot, but I
think making.
Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
This is a big number, and.
Speaker 7 (01:00:21):
I like I'll take Perdue with thirty seven and a half.
I was gonna go off the beaten path there. I
was gonna say, I kind of like Mississippi State getting
twenty five in oxylle. They may cough Mississippi State, so
I think they can cover that number.
Speaker 6 (01:00:37):
Okay, wow, interesting stuff. Who else mentioned you need LSU tonight?
Who else do you need over there at bet MGM today?
Speaker 7 (01:00:47):
Ole Myths, Ole Myths would be nice to have outright. Yeah,
run's getting pretty close there, so uh, if we can
cover one and a half, that would be great or two,
but definitely gonna need ale Mys. Texas Tech would be
nice to have plus four and a half, possibly even
out right over Colorado as his tradition every Saturday.
Speaker 4 (01:01:08):
Yeah, and Michigan.
Speaker 7 (01:01:10):
Plus fourteen and a half. We can't stop writing tickets
on this Indiana team.
Speaker 4 (01:01:13):
Yeah, I was gonna ask you. I was gonna say, hello,
my name is Shamus, and we need whoever Colorado is
playing today to win or else my job is in trouble.
It seems like that's a weekly statement from you, Seamus.
Let's talk a little about this Penn State Washington game.
I'm kind of in the camp that Washington and a
lot of these big tent the newcomers the West Coast
Big ten teams that are now going back to the
(01:01:34):
East Coast and back to the West Coast, and back
and forth and back and forth. Washington's been on kind
of this roller coaster of travel over the last six weeks.
At Rutgers, at Indiana, at Iowa. Is this the day
that we finally see a Penn State offensive explosion. It
hasn't happened a whole lot this year, but they're a
double digit home favorite tonight, white out in Happy Valley,
(01:01:55):
So that's.
Speaker 7 (01:01:55):
An interesting game. So you bring up Washington's travel a lot.
This is the lotest team that's prob Their stats, underlying
stats are a lot better than what their record looks
like in my opinion. But you know James Franklin, when
he needs to crush in a ponent, which I think
they're going to have to start doing with not a
lot of big games left on the schedule, you think
this is when we see Penn State trying to run
up the score a little bit. But this isn't like
(01:02:17):
a sloutshy Washington team. It is interesting that this open
at thirteen and a half and it has kicked down
at twelve and a half right now.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
Hey, Seamus, you know we were just discussing and talking
about Penn State. Reminded me, you know, some people feel
like maybe they're a little overrated in the first CFP polling.
Maybe Indiana and by you are a little underrated in
the CFP polling. Where do you see the polling? You know,
we have our first rankings. How does that align with
what the sportsbooks are saying about playoff productions?
Speaker 7 (01:02:47):
I think they aligned pretty pretty close together with the
odds say. I mean, it's the first poll. You look
at the first poll for a number of years. I
know it's different with twelve teams this year, but you
can usually throw this poll out because it's it's going
to look completely different in four weeks time. But I mean,
I think obviously they give strength to schedule a lot
of credence to it. You know, byu they haven't really
(01:03:08):
beaten a ton of teams Indiana for one. I mean,
they're beating the crap out of teams. But who's their
best win right now? At least Penn State would probably
be undefeated if they had Indiana schedules of the argument there.
Speaker 6 (01:03:19):
Yep, okay, Seamous time for the Seamous Special. What do
you have for us this week?
Speaker 3 (01:03:25):
Buddy?
Speaker 7 (01:03:26):
Well, you know there's some pretty big, like de facto
playoff games here. You know, you can go to Bloomington, Indiana.
You could go to Oxford, Mississippi. You can go to
Baton Rouge, Louisiana. But we're absolutely not going there. We're
going to Campus Field and Fairfield, Connecticut, where Long Island
is the favor by three and a half two. It's
Long Island is a three and a half point favorite
(01:03:47):
against the Sacred Heart team that is undefeated at home
this year. That line stinks a little bit, so we're
gonna lay the three and a half of Long Island
in the Sharks.
Speaker 4 (01:03:55):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
How are you? I grew up on Long Island, just
a stone throwaway from c W Post l i U
Long Island University. I mean, I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna
have to take some action today.
Speaker 4 (01:04:08):
Now there's there's it's the BET's already been very good,
very good. I'll bet it for all of you guys.
Speaker 6 (01:04:15):
Thank you, very great. Stuff is always shamous. Man enjoyed
the day. We'll catch you soon, man.
Speaker 7 (01:04:21):
Thanks you guys, enjoying the game.
Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
Good stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:04:23):
Brother, you too.
Speaker 6 (01:04:24):
There is Seamous McGee, team lead of sports trading at
bet MGM.
Speaker 3 (01:04:29):
Okay, you know, every now and then he'll he'll surprise us.
Speaker 2 (01:04:33):
You know, I wow.
Speaker 6 (01:04:36):
Every now and then Isaac Lohenkron will surprise us. Right,
we had audio of uh of a fight mid flight
last uh last update.
Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
What's gonna happen?
Speaker 4 (01:04:46):
This one?
Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Your guest as good as mine right here. I love
what the latest.
Speaker 8 (01:04:49):
And the main thing is above all else. I'm pretty
that's right writing that one for the next month. Fellow's
NFL media reporter this morning that the New Orleans Gates
are expected to put a receiver Chris o'lave on injured
reserve due to a concussion. In the NBA, on Friday night,
Lebron James had a triple double in the Los Angeles
Lakers one sixteen to what O six win over Philadelphia.
(01:05:11):
The Cleveland Cavaliers improved to ten and oh with a
one thirty six one seventeen win over Golden State. Oklahoma
City improved to eight and one. They beat Houston won
twenty six to what oh seven. The Phoenix Suns improved
to eight and one. They wonted Dallas one fourteen to
one thirteen use of Nurkics the game winning free throw
with point eight to play. Nikola Jokic had his third
(01:05:32):
consecutive triple double in Denver's one thirty five one twenty
two triumph over Miami. Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves
scored thirty seven points in nine three pointers in a
one twenty seven what oh two win over Portland. Finally,
sad news from the NBA. Former longtime Portland Trail Blazers
announcer Brian Wheeler passed away at the age of sixty two.
(01:05:55):
Wheelers spent twenty one seasons as the Blader Blazers radio
voice from nineteen ninety eight to twenty nineteen. Let's listen
back to the way It was Game six of the
twenty fourteen playoffs against Houston, with Wheeler at the mic
for a fantastic finish.
Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
And Howard is defending Aldridge.
Speaker 5 (01:06:13):
So in case the Blazers go for a two to
their best player, Howard is defending him, but Tim throws
the lover a three for the game. You gotta pinch ring.
I must be dreaming pitching.
Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
Nap.
Speaker 5 (01:06:33):
What do you do in an absolutely incredible first round
playoff series that ms in the most dramatic way possible.
Damian Lellard takes an n bounds pass from nikelov A
Term and nails a three pointer. There was absolutely no
doubt and for the first time in fourteen years, the
(01:06:55):
Blazers have won a playoff series. And they couldn't have
done it and a more thrilling fashion.
Speaker 8 (01:07:00):
Brian Wheeler, one of the very best in the NBA
and beloved in Portland, fellas back to you man.
Speaker 6 (01:07:08):
Yeah, absolutely an insane presence right on the mic.
Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
He was sensational.
Speaker 4 (01:07:15):
Yeah, I'd never heard that radio call before. I mean,
I know about the play and the TV call, but
I've never heard that radio call before.
Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
At the radio calls, I mean it's perfect. It's perfect
because look that there are times where you got to
let the environment breathe. But on radio, obviously you need
to do a little bit more to describe the scene,
to help help express the emotion of the moment. What
a gift he leaves behind to those who love him,
you know, brothers or sisters, or grandchildren or or children,
(01:07:47):
a wife, an aunt and uncle, whoever loves him, who
he leaves behind in his too early passing. You get
to you get to play back some of the moments
that made him great and made him who he was.
And sad to hear that he's moved on. But my goodness,
what a talent. What hey talent?
Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
No, absolutely well, said Rich, no doubt. We all echo
with that.
Speaker 6 (01:08:09):
It is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff, presented by

(01:08:41):
Colorado at Texas Tech. I love talking to Seamus because
he's like, we need the team take it on.
Speaker 4 (01:08:48):
Colorado every week.
Speaker 3 (01:08:49):
That's just what we need.
Speaker 6 (01:08:51):
And this Texas Tech team, look, man, it's been a
weird last three games. So they lost two in a
row against Baylor and TCU, and then they got a
massive win last week on the road against Iowa State.
Great drive at the end to win that game, look
like that wasn't gonna happen, and then they pulled it out.
Texas Tech can absolutely put points on the on the
(01:09:13):
board here, so you could see a shootout against Colorado,
and we all know Colorado's credentials. I think the big
question I have in this one is about Colorado's defense.
They've been good, but it's like, who if they faced exactly?
Are they a bit overrated? So I think you're gonna
get a few answers tonight on the road against Texas Tech.
Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
Yeah, this is this is kind of strength on strength.
Both these teams like to put it up in the air.
Both of them have seen success. This is gonna be
a real challenge for Colorado's secondary, who's been excellent all year.
But it remains to be seen whether or not they
can they can avoid being you know, burnt by explosives downfield.
(01:09:55):
But Colorado, look, they played to their strengths. The Buffs
played their strengths about as good as any football team
I've seen. Dion knows who he has. He wants to
highlight his son, Shador. Shador is one of the more
efficient passers in the country. They get the ball down
the field in a hurry, and their completion percentage connecting
on those throws is pretty great, whether it be short
(01:10:15):
or long passing. Sanders has been has been superb this season,
so so expect to see Colorado not break from the script.
They're gonna try to throw it all over the Red
Raiders tonight, There's no question about that.
Speaker 4 (01:10:29):
Yeah, and to your point, the defense, Texas Tech defense
struggles to give up explosives. They've actually allowed the most
fifteen plus yard passes of any team in the country.
Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
That's not good. Yeah, no, it's not good.
Speaker 4 (01:10:41):
It's not good.
Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
Shredded.
Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
Yeah, Like that was like highlighted in my notes. So
I'm glad Rich you put that up there on a
tee for me. I think Shador will have some time
to throw Colorado. Listen, this is they've kind of changed
their stripes a little bit. Colorado last year was a
finesse team. I think they still are a finesse team.
But how about this that they're actually top ten in
(01:11:04):
the country points allowed after halftime. So their defense, most
notably Robert Livingston, their defensive coordinators made some really good
halftime adjustments. They've held up okay against the run they're
getting after the quarterback. So as much as Colorado obviously
shoud Or Sanders and Travis Hunter and offense offense offense,
there is a little bit of starch to this Colorado
(01:11:26):
defense this year that changes the dynamic. There's also some
familiarity with these teams. Texas Tech's head coach, Joey McGuire
actually coached Deon Sun in high school. So wow, these
these teams and these coaches and these there's a little
bit of a familiarity here. I wouldn't be shocked if
this game is played a little bit closer to the
vest than maybe we think, because there's some defense I
(01:11:49):
think to be played for Colorado this year. Texas Tech,
if they can run the ball with Brooks. Every time
I watch a postgame interview after teams play Texas Tech,
they all say the same thing that Todge Brooks kids
really good, very underrated back. So that's kind of the
game within the game here. Colorado should be able to
throw it. Texas Tech defense is prone to the explosive play,
(01:12:09):
but Texas Tech can run the ball and Colorado's defense,
as you mentioned, Brian hasn't really been fully tested yet,
so we'll see if maybe the Red Raiders, who are
coming off a huge win, can kind of keep that
momentum going.
Speaker 6 (01:12:22):
Yeah, Taj Brooks, his rushing prop is at one twenty four.
Speaker 3 (01:12:26):
And a half.
Speaker 6 (01:12:27):
That's a little heavy, right, It's a little heavy, but
you know, but that's the thing is he's been fantastic,
as you noted, Jared, and that is an indictment on
your defense. You know what really good defense is the
opposing running back as rushing yards prop is one twenty
four and a half. You know, for what it's worth,
it was a heavy number against UCF on the road,
(01:12:49):
a team that loves to run the football, and they
couldn't They couldn't run it on Colorado Shadua Sanders, by
the way, three twenty four and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
In terms of we've got over.
Speaker 4 (01:12:59):
On his prop a couple times, I don't know how
I feel about it today.
Speaker 6 (01:13:02):
Yeah, it's uh, we're gonna see some chunk plays. Put
it that way, We're gonna see some junk blades and
if Texas Tech is doing a decent job matching points,
you're just gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
See more and more and more yards thrown by your door.
Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
I feel like the Buffalo's they should stay in a
shell defense, keep everything in front of them, make sure
that you're forcing Texas Tech to take what you give
them all the underneath, wait for them to make a pass,
all underneath passing, and because you know you're gonna get yours,
you are going to make hay against this Texas Tech
(01:13:36):
passing defense. So it's about being patient defensively. Even if
they go on long, methodical drives, you could still get
your explosives off if you're Colorado's offense, and so it's
gonna take a little patience. But I think that's the
game plan and that results in a win for Colorado.
Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
Yep, quickly win weather in Love. It could be a
factor tonight too. Keep an eye on that before we
get closer to game time.
Speaker 3 (01:13:57):
It needs to be.
Speaker 6 (01:13:58):
I don't know how many college games where I watch
it and I'm like, how are they allowing all these
explosive plays, maybe against an explosive offense.
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
How how have we not seen.
Speaker 6 (01:14:08):
Colleges take a page from the NFL and two high
safeties and it's like you're gonna have to nickel and
dim it all the way down the field. It doesn't
happen as often as it should in college, so something
to keep in mind. All right, we've got rich oron Berger,
Penn State All American, Jared Smith FSR, betting analyst, I'm
probying and no coming up next. Prop it up the
prop betting market, Lots to discuss, lots and lots will
(01:14:32):
compare notes. It's Fox Sports Radios Campdown to kick Off,
presented by BETMGM. It is Fox Sports Radios Campdown to Kickoff,
presented by BETMGM. Once a day, Monday through Friday, play
the free to play bet MGM Ultimate Teams to receive
an Ultimate Team's card with the pro football team and spread.
If that team covers the spread that NFL week, you
(01:14:52):
can win prizes. Play every day Monday through Friday. Have
all five of your teams cover, and you're eligible to
win betmgm's weekly Jackpipe.
Speaker 3 (01:15:01):
All right, let's do this.
Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
Prop it up. Five player plays.
Speaker 6 (01:15:07):
Ah, yes, the prop bet market. Jared will start with you.
Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
What do you like.
Speaker 4 (01:15:12):
In a perfect world, this man would be on the
Heisman podium, But we do not live in a perfect world.
Tyler Warren is one of the best players in the country.
That you guys have maybe never heard of out there
because you don't love watching tight ends. I'm calling on
the throwback uniform or excuse me, well if you could
put that in there too with Penn State's uniforms, but
throwback unicorn, let me get that right. He is minus
(01:15:32):
one thirty to score a touchdown today. He scored in
five of the first six games of the season for
Penn State, including four receiving and a rushing touchdown. He
heard that right, a rushing touchdown. But he's scoreless in
the last two against I would say decent defenses Wisconsin
and Ohio State. He's gonna line up all over the field.
You can bet that you can win this in multiple ways.
He can catch a pass, he can also run it in.
He's gonna have all the Wildcat goal line packages as well.
(01:15:56):
And how about this. One hundred and fifty receptions for
Penn State this year, fifty one one of them for
Tyler Warren. He's a tight end, people. It's also averaging
almost nine yards per carry. He's finding the end zone
today against Washington minus one thirty over at bet MG.
Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
I like Travis Hunter today. Travis Hunter taking on Texas
Tech Porous secondary. You have Shador Sanders. You know he's
gonna be looking for his receiver on a Heisman Trophy campaign.
He's a two way player, so that's going to booy
his opportunity to make it to New York. But he's
gotta get yards, he's got to get touches, he's got
(01:16:30):
to get touchdowns, and I think they're gonna feed him
the football against one of the worst pass coverages in
all of college football this year in FBS. I mean,
they're terrible tacklers on the Red Raiders. They're in the
bottom ten and coverage grade Pro Football Focus. I like
Travis Hunter going over his ninety seven and a half
receiving yards today for the Colorado Buffalos.
Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
But do you like Texas Tech Secondary?
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
I think they have some problem.
Speaker 6 (01:17:02):
Okay, So for the social media post, I've got a
jerk option and I've got a non jerk option.
Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (01:17:10):
You know how though write it out. Saga does an
awesome job. He'll post our picks. So I've got in
any time touchdown parlay for you. Oh no, oh, yes,
oh yes, don't Tyler there too.
Speaker 4 (01:17:23):
I know I'm jealous and I'm not in.
Speaker 6 (01:17:25):
The parlor Okay, right, here's what I'm thinking. Lay, I'm
gonna go with Jalen Milroe, who is very hard for
LSU to contain. So he's got to score a touchdown
that's at minus one sixty five.
Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (01:17:39):
If you pair it with Toaj Brooks, which I think
is he's minus three fifty, do you.
Speaker 3 (01:17:46):
See Colorado keeping him out of the end zone? I
don't so.
Speaker 6 (01:17:49):
Little Taj Brooks seasoning to get the Millroe prop from
minus one sixty five to plus one oh six.
Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
I like it, right?
Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
Oh yeah, that huh a little smooth. Yeah, that's a smooth.
Speaker 4 (01:18:03):
Move there beino you like that?
Speaker 6 (01:18:05):
Okay, I do I do all this is oll see,
I have to know anytime touchdown par lay two legs,
Jalen Milroe, Taj Brooks, they both score.
Speaker 3 (01:18:16):
It's at plus one oh six. He gets the plus
money with that.
Speaker 4 (01:18:18):
I'm curious what I'm trying to get it in my
machine here real quick to see what happens. If I
put Tyler Warren in there too, they might do the
three way action. Yeah maybe that's uh. We if we
swing in a miss on the parlay plotter this week,
maybe next week we'll do touchdown.
Speaker 6 (01:18:31):
Parlay plotter, if you throw that third leg, that's gonna
get us close to two to one.
Speaker 4 (01:18:35):
I would imagine. So if you guys vamp for about
thirty seconds or so, they'll have it.
Speaker 3 (01:18:40):
Well, well, i'll tell you a non jerk option.
Speaker 2 (01:18:42):
I like it. I like the Taj Brooks rushing over
as well.
Speaker 3 (01:18:46):
So okay, yeah, over one twenty four and a half
or one.
Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
Every time I watch his film, it's just he pops.
He's really he's gonna be an NFL back. He's a
good player. The non jerk option for the social media
post would be Jalen Milroe over forty eight and a
half rushing yards. Again, that's just hard to contain for LSU, and.
Speaker 6 (01:19:06):
You know they struggled mightily against Texas A and M's quarterback,
uh containing him. Yeah, so I don't know if they're
gonna contain Jalen Millroe. I see him rushing for at
least fifty yards.
Speaker 3 (01:19:19):
Do you have the parlay? Hey, yes, I do.
Speaker 4 (01:19:21):
Give me one moment here we are ready in five
for three two plus two sixty five. Okay, wow, you
come back, Tyler Warren, Jalen Millrod, Taj Brooks anytime touchdown
parlay plus two sixty five. I like that a lot.
Speaker 6 (01:19:36):
That's a good payout, man, I thought we were gonna
get around two to one.
Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
That's feel spicy. It feels right. Oh, we give we
gave a lot on on on props today. This is fun. Yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (01:19:49):
Going what's add Rich's legs on? Let's get to eight
to what? Oh boy?
Speaker 6 (01:19:54):
All right, coming ups man. They call it death Valley
for a reason.
Speaker 2 (01:19:59):
We'll preview this.
Speaker 6 (01:20:01):
We are one hour away from kickoff. Man, we got
some great stuff here today. Looking forward to all this action.
How about later at night seven thirty pm on the
East coast, We've got number eleven Alabama against number fifteen LSU.
Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
Great, great matchup.
Speaker 6 (01:20:22):
I just I keep going back to LSU had zero
answers against Texas A and M quarterback Marcel Reid. They
had and I remember this very well last year because
it was on my birthday, and I had bet Jace
McClellan Alabama running back to go over his rushing total,
and all Jalen Milroe did was run it and run
(01:20:46):
it and throw it and throw it and run it
and run it. And he would not hand it off.
He was just crushing LSU's defense. Now, LSU's defense is
better than it was last year, but Jalen Milroe is
a special player making plays with his legs and against
this LSU defense, even though it's better this year, they
again they had no answers whatsoever for Marcel Reid. And
(01:21:09):
it's one thing to be on top of it, like hey, hey,
we got to watch out for Jalen Milroe running the ball.
It's another thing to stop it effectively. And I think
that's gonna be very, very challenging for LSU tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
Yeah. Alabama, and also their defense. Their defense has pitched
shutouts against good opponents. I mean they've blank let's see Georgia,
South Carolina, Tennessee and Missouri in the in the opening
quarter of each of those matchups. They've allowed an average
(01:21:42):
of two point four points in the first quarter this season.
That's one of the best marks nationally. When you compile
that with getting off to a good start offensively, Alabama
has all the makings to go on the road and
get a win. This obviously is the environment you want
to you want to draw Alabama. If you have to
(01:22:05):
draw Alabama in an SEC showdown, which is gonna knock
one of these two participants out of the playoff picture
this season. But I like Alabama. I would give them
the slight edge in this game for those reasons. If
they can find a way to start fast offensively, you
can lean on your defense to pitch you a shutout
(01:22:25):
in the opening frame. This could be a long, hard
night for the Bayou Bengals.
Speaker 4 (01:22:30):
Yeah, interesting line movement. We talked about this with Seamus.
It's the rare night that you're getting a fair price
on Bama because the books need Bama, and I think
at two and a half, yeah, Bama's betable. The money
line is about minus one p fifty I would prefer.
And we talked about this on Tuesday when I did
the first of my two betmgen videos for the week,
(01:22:51):
and we talked about the reveal of the first culturable
playoff rankings, and I thought Alabama minus won twenty five
to make the playoff. Like they're in the playoff now.
They just have to win tonight and their minus won
fifty on the money line, so you get a little
discount there, and then they have three relative cupcakes down
the stretch. They'll be double digit favorite. So you know,
if you want to make a slightly discounted wager on
(01:23:13):
Alabama tonight, just bet them to make the playoff. But
you nailed it, Brian, Like, I just like, how are
they going to contain Jalen Milroe and Marceau Reid? And
I love marsau Reid. I think he's got a bright future.
He's not Jaln Milroe. So now, to be fair, LSU
didn't know mars Reid was starting that game. He came
in as kind of a change up, but he had
(01:23:34):
played significant time before that. You would expect them to
at least have an idea that he could come in
and do this, So we'll see. Like, I think LSU's
defense is improved from last year. That's not saying much.
They were bad last year, but they're kind of a
i'll call it, like top sixty, top seventy defense. Last
year they were like a top one hundred barely defense.
(01:23:55):
So there is improvement. And they've got a couple dudes
on the outside Swinston and Jones that can get after you.
But yeah, it's all about Jalen Milroe and the boom
or bus, Like is he gonna make that big play?
Is he gonna make that horrific turnover? Both could happen well.
Speaker 6 (01:24:06):
And that's a similar with Garrett Nussmeyer, right, he had
three interceptions in the second half against A and M.
It was just like, what's going on, Garrett, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (01:24:17):
Throw it to the guys were in Golden purple. You
know it's.
Speaker 6 (01:24:21):
But his passing yardage prop is at two ninety seven
and a half. And you look at this LSU offensive line.
They routinely give Nussmeyer a clean pocket, enough time to throw.
And against Alabama secondary, they're young. I think they're vulnerable.
They have not played a murderer's row of opposing offenses.
(01:24:42):
It's littered with Hey, there was no starting quarterback for Missouri.
You're facing the backup guy, right, and it's like that.
It's a lot of it. And the real teams that
they faced, Carson Beck, he diced them up at times
in that game. And so Alabama's second there's something to
(01:25:03):
keep an eye on. I love what LSU's offensive line
can do for gearrettus Meyer as long as he's protecting
the football. I think LSU's passing game should have a
lot of success tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:25:12):
Yeah, I agree, And they throw it a lot. They
have a pretty uneven stat when you look at balanced offense,
they put in there a ton they trust in us
Meyer with the football, and they've become a little one
dimensional as a result of that. And so I agree
with your assessment there. I think Alabama should play coverage,
rush four, rush three, drop the rest, be patient on defense.
(01:25:33):
Kind of the same game plan I was given out
for Colorado to have success over Texas Tech. Do the
same thing against LSU if you're Alabama. And then offensively,
for Alabama, the way they've developed their offense actually attacks
what LSU struggles against. There are certain teams that are
better against gap schemes. What do I mean by that, Well,
(01:25:56):
your defenders are good at compressing running lanes on power
plays where you have a guard poll or counter plays
where you have a tight end or a tackle or
a combination of offensive lineman looking to trap or or
blast out the n man on the line of scrimmage
to make some running running room up the middle. LSU
defends against those style of runs pretty well. They struggle
(01:26:19):
against the zone. So what happens with teams sometimes when
they don't have bodies that can move in the front
seven or in their six man box, you have run
lanes and that's going to be benefit Alabama, especially on
some of their zone read plays with Jaylen Milroe getting
him loose, but also in the run game in general
(01:26:39):
for the running backs to find some scenes to exploit
against the Tigers defense. So you play a little coverage
if you're Bama. You play a balanced offense, mixing in
the pass and the run, especially the zone run, and
this could spell success for the Tide on the road.
Speaker 4 (01:26:56):
Yeah. Hi, total two in this game, approaching sixty. So
jam Mill who is emerging as a bell cow kind
of back for Alabama, he's a plus one oh five
to score a touchdown. I know, we just sad Jalen
Milroe is gonna score. I think both of those guys
very live tonight because we are seeing defense as adjust
to Alabama's boom or bust nature. Like Ryan Williams fantastic
(01:27:17):
twenty five yards per catch the first five games, last
three games ten yards per catch, one hundred and fifty
eight total yards in three games like that was like
one game for him early in the season. You're seeing
defenses kind of adjust right back off the line of scrimmage.
Make Alabama because Jalen Milroe, you go one or two
plays he can he can wow you. You go eight
to ten plays, he's probably gonna make a mistake. LSU's offense.
(01:27:39):
You mentioned it, Brian and Brian Kelly said this this week, uncertainty,
and what he meant by uncertainty is versatility. You don't
know if we're gonna run it, you don't know if
we're gonna pass it. They have been very one dimensional.
They've got a great offensive line, but they haven't run
it well. They've relied on that offensive line to pass protect.
They need more uncertainty screen game, mister draws running it.
(01:28:01):
Figure out a way to keep that Alabama defense honest,
because the Alabama defense isn't really that. It doesn't fly
off the page. They've relied a lot on turnovers. Eighteen
interceptions or fumbles in eight games like that is a
lot of variance. It's hard to rely on that down
to down their offensive line or excuse me, their defensive
(01:28:23):
line has not really gotten after the quarterback against their
good opponents this year. They didn't, you know, rush the
passer well against Georgia. They didn't rush the passer well
against Tennessee. They're outside the top forty and most of
those metrics we look at, so Bama's defense can be
run on, they can be thrown on, but consistently, I
think this game. The winner of this game is simple
who turns it over less? Who makes fewer mistakes? I
(01:28:44):
know that's really basic, but it seems like we have
two very turnover pro offenses and two defenses that feast
off of that. So who wins that battle?
Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
You know?
Speaker 6 (01:28:53):
I also think with the twelve team playoff in this matchup,
you're getting the best of both worlds, meaning the twelve
team playoff actually spruces this matchup up quite a bit.
Right if we had a couple of six and two
teams and it's a four team playoff, where like you
have the.
Speaker 3 (01:29:11):
Winner of this still on the outside.
Speaker 6 (01:29:13):
Looking in, right, but the winner of this they're live
to make the playoff. So I think the twelve team
playoff makes this matchup better.
Speaker 3 (01:29:21):
And then I also.
Speaker 6 (01:29:22):
Think if the winner of this game, whether it's Bama
or LSU, if they sneak into the playoffs. You're seeing
enough parody in college football with these playoff teams. Where
would it shock you if either Bama or LSU won
a game or two and made a mini run in the.
Speaker 3 (01:29:41):
Playoff, it wouldn't shock me either. So I think it's the.
Speaker 6 (01:29:44):
Best of both worlds with this twelve team playoff mixed
with more parody than we're used to in college football.
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
Yeah, instead of this game being of more regional interest,
it makes this game of more national interest, whereas before
this would be for those in sec country, like, wow,
you know, we still got some real implications in terms
of our conference. It's more like we're all talking about
it nationally. Gone, wow, you know, we could pick up
(01:30:12):
some clues as to maybe who we want to wager
on when the twelve team playoff starts playing out, because
it's going to be a big measuring bar game for
either team. Whoever wins and how they win is going
to be important to evaluate. So I agree with you.
I think the twelve team playoffs I hope they expand
it from here. I really do. I really do. I
hope we get to sixteen at some point. If twelve's good,
(01:30:33):
I think sixteen will be better because you're gonna see
matchups like this all over college football that are so
much more important than they've ever been. And that's exciting.
I mean, college basketball, we were talking about this earlier,
and I think Jared you perfectly stated it about the
fact that in college football now it's less about how
(01:30:54):
much you blow out a team by it's more about
quality losses in some cases for some of these higher
ranking teams based on strength to schedule, and that's where
we got to with the analytics of college basketball, and
it's made for the greatest postseason in college sports. College
football needs to tear that page out of college basketball's
book and say, Okay, let's read this chapter and reread
(01:31:16):
it and reread it until we get it right. And
I think if you expand this format further, there's room
for more teams, there's room for more excitement. As we
close out these seasons.
Speaker 4 (01:31:25):
It feels like we're getting there. I think you know
that first reveal on Tuesday, and I know Tuesday was
a very busy night in our country for other reasons,
but there was only one poll that I was really
glued to that night. It was a fascinating reveal because
we started to see the policy shift of you go
from all right, who have you beaten? To all right,
(01:31:47):
who have you lost?
Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
To?
Speaker 4 (01:31:48):
Yeah, and that that and I know I know that
like it kind of sounds the same, like, all right,
good teams are good teams. Usually good teams they beat
the other good ones and they don't lose to the
bad ones. But when you're full fus shifts away from
your positives and starts to highlight your negatives. It makes
for a very different argument. You're framing the argument differently.
(01:32:09):
Speaking of the argument being framed differently, I think these
two head coaches are squarely in the spotlight tonight. Ooh right,
Like Kalin de Bores had one tough SEC road test
so far and they failed it miserably. At Rocky Top.
Brian Kelly's scratched and clawed his way and trying to
get to the top, and you could see it, like
you could see the path for LSU if they win
(01:32:31):
this game. But if they don't, it's like that game
of shoots and ladders and Brian Kelly's right back down
to the bottom of the SEC barrel and everything's got
to reload because they're probably not making the playoffs. So
just a fascinating coach matchup tonight. This is really, honestly,
this is probably my favorite. I know we were talking about
Georgia Olmess earlier in the show. This is the game tonight.
This really is the play in game for the playoff.
(01:32:52):
I do love this matchup and yeah, you're right, the.
Speaker 3 (01:32:55):
Losing head coach Scrutiny City, that is what I would
like to call it. Absolutely no doubt.
Speaker 6 (01:33:02):
We got Rich Hornberger, Penn State, All American, Jared Smith
FSR betting analyst I'm Brian not. Throughout the entire football season,
betmgm will offer all different types of boost tokens. Be
on the lookout for same game parlay boost tokens, parlay

coming up next, respect doesn't matter anymore, we'll explain. It's

Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM. It
is Fox Sports Radios Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETMGM.

fifteen hundred dollars back in bonus if that bet loses. Okay,
so I've got a theory over here to test on
you find, folks, respect doesn't matter anymore, now, hear me out.
(01:34:10):
This applies to the Indiana Hoosiers. Okay, I think they've
been disrespected a bit. They're ranked eighth in the first
playoff poll. They haven't played a great gauntlet of teams,
but neither as Miami, and Miami's ranked number four compared
to Indiana. Right brand name versus non brand name. I
think this, as long as Indiana keeps winning, respect doesn't matter.
(01:34:34):
The playoff committee can disrespect them all they want, but
as long as you keeps winning, it doesn't matter, because
they're going to be a playoff team.
Speaker 2 (01:34:42):
Now.
Speaker 6 (01:34:42):
The trick is if IU does lose a game, and Jared,
you've brought this up a couple of times, if they
get vote raced against Ohio State and it's an ugly outcome,
and yeah, all of a sudden that lack of respect
could matter. But as long as you are winning, it
doesn't matter. Like this day and age, I'd be sweating it.
Speaker 4 (01:35:02):
If I'm an IU fan and this is still a
four team playoff and IU is nine to zero and
ranked eighth, I'm sweating that they'd have no chance to
make the fourteenth game, right with all they'd have to
run the table. That's the only way to get in
if it's four teams. With twelve teams, they've got more
wiggle room, obviously, so respect. Put it this way, Respect
(01:35:25):
doesn't mean the same as it once did, or a
lack of it. The playoff committee disrespects you. You've got
way more wiggle room now with twelve teams.
Speaker 2 (01:35:33):
I do agree with you, But here's the comparison. I'll
make one hundred dollars to me when I was a
kid in high school and I just got my learners
permit and life was a little bit cheaper back then anyways,
because inflation obviously was way different all the things. Compared
(01:35:54):
to one hundred dollars now, like back then one hundred dollars,
that would be like a like I struck a a
vein of gold deep in the mine, yeah, and now
it's a tank of gas.
Speaker 10 (01:36:07):
Maybe yeah, by the way, yeah, maybe the benby what
state living. So so this to me is where Indiana
is right now. They're the teenager who just got their
learner permit and found one hundred dollars in a Christmas
card from grandma and grandpa, and they're like, are you
kidding me?
Speaker 2 (01:36:25):
This is like two video games worth of money. Grandma, Grandpa,
thank you. But pretty soon here, if they win at
this level for long enough, they're gonna realize, hey, you know,
going undefeated against a weak schedule and being placed behind
so many one loss teams in this new playoff ranking,
that doesn't feel so good because we should not be
(01:36:46):
on the road to start our postseason if we're undefeated.
Screw you Cook committee. Like, so, right now, I agree
with you. Respect doesn't matter for Indiana yet because they're
the teenager who just found one hundred bucks in a
greeting card. But but if you win at this level
for long enough and you don't have strength to schedule
(01:37:08):
and you start building a brand that, yeah, then then
the respect does matter to you. Because right now, again
going back to what we said in the first segment
on this show earlier early on in the day, if
if Indiana, if the season stops now they go on
the road to play against the volunteers. That's that's not
(01:37:28):
that's not respect, that's that's anything.
Speaker 4 (01:37:30):
But yeah, and they won't be respected in the number either.
They'd be a ten point dog probably in that game.
Todd Furman, who's a former odds maker, a couple couple
of the books here in town, does really good work
for CBS, just gave me this number. If Ohio State
played Indiana on a neutral today, Buckeye's favored by a touchdown.
(01:37:52):
And again, this is the Buckeyes team with one loss
that has you know, shown there. I would say, maybe
not the best stuff, but they've shown some pretty good
stuff this year, whereas Indiana has shown us their best
stuff all against subpark competition. Right, Ajia State went on
the road, beat Penn State, went on the road, almost
beat Oregon. Tough game, but you just Indiana's undefeated. But
(01:38:16):
there's still a touchdown dog against you know, one of
the better teams in the country. So it just it
shows you what they really are, which I don't think
is a top tier team. And we talked about this
a couple of times today and I will continue to
preach it until we get a field set from the committee.
The College Football Committee. Kingpin has told you straight up
(01:38:38):
on Tuesday, they care more about your losses than your wins. Yep,
if Ohio State beats let's save the spread. And I
think that game is I'm not sure where that game is.
I know it's in two weeks.
Speaker 3 (01:38:49):
Let's say Ohio State game.
Speaker 4 (01:38:51):
Is it in Indiana or is it it's at Ohio State.
It's at Ohio State. Ohio State's gonna be a double.
Speaker 3 (01:38:56):
Dig your favorite in that game.
Speaker 4 (01:38:57):
Yeah, let's say they win by three touchdown. Indiana's not
making the playoff, guys, And I know that sounds really
cruel that in a twelve team field, a one loss
team in the Big Ten will likely miss the playoff.
But if Ohio State blows the doors off Indiana in
(01:39:18):
that game, I don't think Indiana's making the field.
Speaker 2 (01:39:21):
I agree with you.
Speaker 3 (01:39:22):
You might be right.
Speaker 6 (01:39:23):
The weird thing to me is like I get that
a quality loss does matter, but does it matter more?
Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
Again, if we go back.
Speaker 6 (01:39:34):
To comparing the resumes of Penn State in Indiana, right,
Indiana's undefeated. They haven't had the most impressive gauntlet of competition,
but they're still undefeated. Penn State, they lost to Ohio
State by a touchdown. They didn't score an offensive touchdown
in the game. Rights you couldn't finish driving, sorry, And
(01:39:58):
the resume of the teams they've beaten is absolutely comparable
to I you, And so it's like what swings it
in Penn State's favorite is absolutely brand name.
Speaker 3 (01:40:08):
Don't forget about.
Speaker 4 (01:40:09):
Oh I think it's if they lose. They only lost
to Ohio State by seven. If Indiana loses by thirty,
that's what will supperate.
Speaker 3 (01:40:15):
But they haven't lost to anybody yet, not yet.
Speaker 4 (01:40:18):
We're just saying that is what would eliminate that.
Speaker 6 (01:40:20):
That's right, But as of now, I you asn't lost
to anyone. They're still looking up at Penn State, which
is totally no argument.
Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
No agree. I think we all agree. I think we're
What Jared's doing and I'm I'm right there with him
is forecasting events, and what you're doing is living in
the now. And we agree in the now that Penn
State is overrated and Indiana is underrated.
Speaker 6 (01:40:43):
But we're saying the same thing in different ways is
if Pennce, if IU gets boat raced by Ohio State,
they're just gonna be looking up at Penn State. Even
more so they're still looking up at them right now.
It's just crazy, man.
Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
We are living in a time where, yeah, first of all,
wins and losses are no longer as meaningful as they
used to be. You know, when you had a fourteen playoff,
one loss could easily knock you out of the conversation.
It just depended on who you lost to, for sure,
but mostly mostly one loss knocked you out of the
(01:41:18):
equation or two losses. Certainly, in this new world, two
losses is in a death knell because if you had
two losses against two of the best teams in the
nations by narrow margins, yep, and you won the rest
of your games, you could be a top four team
in the country.
Speaker 4 (01:41:35):
Agree.
Speaker 6 (01:41:35):
Well, here's the thing, though, guys, is what we've all
talked about, these close losses or good losses quote unquote,
if you want to talk about like that, it's something
to keep in mind when these conference championship games.
Speaker 4 (01:41:47):
Oh, don't even get me started on the conference championship games.
I'll be honest, I think if you're Georgia, you don't
want to be playing the SEC title. I said it
right there.
Speaker 3 (01:41:56):
But that's the thing though, I'm crazy. You're right, it's great.
Speaker 6 (01:41:58):
But if we're not penalizing teams for these good losses,
if that's what you would to say it in the
regular season, are we gonna then all of a sudden
penalize them when they're in the conference championships.
Speaker 4 (01:42:09):
My understanding of that, if you get blown out in
your conference championship game, it will penalize you. If you
lose a tight game, they will probably act like it
doesn't ex Let me ask.
Speaker 2 (01:42:18):
You a crazy and this may be even almost conspiratorial question.
Speaker 4 (01:42:23):
Okay, I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:42:24):
Okay, this needs some X files music for this.
Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
Oh yeah, yeah, we might, we might need it. We're
going deep in here. But can you imagine if there
is a situation where teams start pulling valuable players out
of conference championship games, essentially resting them for the playoffs.
So whatever happens in a conference championship game doesn't really
matter now per the rights agreements, they got to play
(01:42:49):
in those.
Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
I don't think so. I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (01:42:52):
Okay, give me Brian, because I I'm not sure how
I feel about it.
Speaker 3 (01:42:56):
Yeah, I don't think so.
Speaker 6 (01:42:57):
Because one, it's a seeding thing, right, you don't want
to just call the dogs off and maybe cost yourself
a bye, right. And also there's too much competition where
like you guys just said, if you get boat raced,
you might be on the outside looking it.
Speaker 3 (01:43:11):
No one's gonna take a chance.
Speaker 4 (01:43:12):
Like agreed, if you lose by thirty because you punted
on the conference championship game, I think the committee will
penalize you for that. Where if you play everybody and
you play a knockdown, dragout game and you lose last
second on a field goal, I think the committee will
not count that as a bad loss and they will
ignore that for your resume.
Speaker 2 (01:43:32):
And I think they better because honestly, if you don't,
if you don't value a good loss in a conference
championship game, then what you will see is teams pull
all their starters and say, hey, look, per the rights agreement,
we got to play this game, but we're gonna play
it like a scrimmage. You're gonna see our twos in there,
and we are going to get to the postseason because
we think we have a real shot to win it
(01:43:54):
all this season and we don't want to be harmed
by public opinion if we lose in the conference championship game.
So you you better if you're the committee, value a
good loss in an SEC or an ACC or a
Big Ten championship game.
Speaker 4 (01:44:07):
I says, gonna be really interesting the last I think
right now it's hard because there's so many permutations that
could happen. When we get to like one or two
weeks out and we can start to say, all right,
this is what we need, this this, and we can
really start to narrow it, that's when I think these
simulations become really interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:44:22):
Oh yeah, for sure.
Speaker 6 (01:44:24):
I think the only way we would see what you're
talking about, Rich, is if it's like an NFL thing, right,
like the final game of the regular season, you have
your seed locked in.
Speaker 3 (01:44:33):
Yeah, now you might not have the same thing that.
Speaker 6 (01:44:35):
You have a by locked in in college football, and
you say, outside of the first week, this is all
neutral site games.
Speaker 3 (01:44:41):
Who cares? Oh, you just got to be healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:44:44):
I think that's the only way you would Oregan's the
only team I think that applies for because all the
SEC teams all have one loss.
Speaker 3 (01:44:49):
Yeah right, Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (01:44:50):
Think it's it's really interesting. I mean, because you know,
years ago we would it would it would sound absurd
to hear a player sitting out of a bowl game.
Speaker 4 (01:44:59):
Right now, It's happens. It's all the time, it's every time.
Speaker 2 (01:45:03):
You know, it would be absurd to your coach jumping
ship on his team before the end of a postseason,
and happens all the time. You know, we're living in
changing times where loyalty and I guess normalcy isn't as
respected as it used to be. Traditions are crumbling all
around us. With the new format. You know, conferences are amoebic,
(01:45:26):
They're changing every moment. It really does feel like we
may see some strange stuff with this new format. I'm
not saying. I'm not saying it's gonna happen, but I'm
just saying it's at least a remote possibility.
Speaker 4 (01:45:39):
I'm cool with it. I'm cool with change.
Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
It's on your radar. I like that.
Speaker 6 (01:45:43):
Yeah, all right, we're gotta rip the band aid off
right around the corner.
Speaker 3 (01:45:47):
Though, first though, this would.
Speaker 6 (01:45:49):
Be like the ointment for the band aid being ripped off,
and it comes in the form of Isaac Loan Kron,
you know, soothing, just nurturing, if you will.
Speaker 3 (01:46:00):
He's got the latest what's going on? I low and
it's the generic version. So it's cost effective.
Speaker 2 (01:46:06):
It is literally titled ointment store brand pointment.
Speaker 8 (01:46:13):
Uh No designs just a times new Roman fund on
the package. What could I say for someone who was
termed pretty earlier today? NFL media reported this Mordic Bellows
and that Orland Saints are expected to put receiver Chris
o'lave on injured reserved due to a concussion. In the
NBA on Friday night, the Los Angeles Lakers got a
triple devil from Lebron James and a one to sixteen,
(01:46:35):
one to zero six win over Philadelphia. Cleveland improved to
ten and zero with a one thirty six one seventeen
win over Golden State. Oklahoma City and Phoenix each improved
to eight and one with wins over the Rockets and Mavericks, respectively.
Sad news from the NBA on Friday, former longtime Portland
Trailblazers announcer Brian Wheeler passed away at the age of
(01:46:58):
sixty two. Wheeler spent fifty one seasons as the Blazers
radio voice from nineteen ninety eight to twenty nineteen, including
here Game six of the twenty fourteen playoffs against the
Houston Rockets as he captured this fantastic finish.
Speaker 2 (01:47:13):
And Howard is defending all Bridge.
Speaker 5 (01:47:15):
So in case the Blazers go for a two to
their best player, Howard is defending him, but you throws
the love it a three for the game. You gotta
pinch Rags. I must be dreaming.
Speaker 3 (01:47:32):
Pitching over.
Speaker 2 (01:47:39):
And an absolutely.
Speaker 5 (01:47:40):
Incredible first time playoff series that ends in the most
dramatical way possible. Damian Lellard takes an m bounds pass
from Nikola a turn and nails a prey pointer. There
was absolutely no doubt and for the first time in
fourteen years, the Blazers have won a playoff series, and
they in a more thrilling.
Speaker 8 (01:48:02):
Fashion epic moment brilliantly captured by one of the best
to ever do it in the NBA. Finally, fellas, we've
got a pop quiz for the three of you.
Speaker 2 (01:48:12):
Oh wow.
Speaker 8 (01:48:13):
Coming up tonight, Bronnie James makes his G League debut
as the South Bay Lakers host the Salt Lake City
Stars at the Lakers practice facility. I want you guys
to guess, as of right now, what the cheapest ticket
is going for for that G League game Bronnie's debut.
Speaker 6 (01:48:35):
By practice facility. So we got limited seating options.
Speaker 3 (01:48:38):
That's got to hike the.
Speaker 4 (01:48:39):
Price, Jared said.
Speaker 8 (01:48:40):
Jared said, five hundred Is that right, Jared Yprian the
prices right into.
Speaker 6 (01:48:45):
A dollar cheapest, the cheapest ticket, cheapest ticket, right, napest ticket.
Speaker 3 (01:48:50):
Let's yeah, I'm gonna cut that in.
Speaker 6 (01:48:52):
Uh, let's cut that by sixty percent. I'll go two
hundred bucks.
Speaker 2 (01:48:56):
Okay, yeah, I'll say one hundred. I'll take the Wow.
Speaker 8 (01:48:59):
Okay we have Brian no Is the closest to it.
The cheapest right now, one hundred and fifty eight dollars,
the cheapest court side seat right now, three hundred and thirteen.
Speaker 4 (01:49:09):
Wow, I'm way overpaid. I got ripped off.
Speaker 6 (01:49:13):
Sub Yeah, courtside and refreshment for that.
Speaker 3 (01:49:20):
Not bad at all? Okay, good stuff, Ilo it is.
Speaker 6 (01:49:22):

(01:49:43):
the way, quick shout out to Brian Wheeler. We talked
about it last hour, but I got to interact with
him working in Portland and he was always nice to
me and what a talent man. So, you know, rest
in peace and thoughts and prayers to his loved ones.
You know, we think about these guys as sports guys.
It's got family and lives and you know, human beings also,
So our thoughts with everybody else affected by that news
(01:50:06):
with him passing away, you know, we just move it
back to college football because we're about twenty two minutes
away from kickoff.
Speaker 3 (01:50:15):
Your Penn State Nitney Lyons follows you. What you know,
I gotta say this.
Speaker 6 (01:50:20):
They're taking on Washington this evening at eight pm Eastern time.
But I actually like what James Franklin, how he handled
the situation last week. I'm curious what you guys think.
So Penn State lost to Ohio State last week. They
lost twenty to thirteen. They could not finish offensive drives
(01:50:40):
at all, and so James Franklin's walking off the field
and one of the Penn State fans is talking trash
and he says something like three drives inside the ten
what the hell something like that, and James Franklin just said, hey,
what's your name? And this guy just kind of like
cowers off, like wanders off into the night, and he's like,
if you're mad enough to talk, tell me your name,
(01:51:03):
which is completely legit. He didn't go crazy, he didn't
go over the top. I thought he handled it fine.
And if the heckler can't even say his name, you
shouldn't be heckling in the first place.
Speaker 2 (01:51:14):
Yeah, there's frustration there, obviously, a loss that nobody wanted
in Happy Valley, and frustration on both sides. I'm sure
for James Franklin, somebody stating the obvious as you're walking
off the field, and that's been a bugaboo for him
the entire tenure at Penn State. Beating Ohio State, beating Michigan,
(01:51:36):
the games that matter in the regular season. It is
the albatross of that program right now, and he's got
to remove it otherwise at some point, the alumni and
the donors, they'll remove him. That's how this game works
these days. And I like James Franklin. I think he's
a good recruiter, good coach, But yeah, that's just the
game right and it knocks him down a couple of pegs.
(01:51:58):
But will they bounce back against the Huskies. Great opportunity
to do so night game wide out the Huskies are
they going to continue momentum? They had a win against
USC Now they have to go cross country to face
the Penn State Nitney Lions at Beaver Stadium. That's a
tough task. In the Big Ten, not a lot of
cross country road teams having a lot of success. And
(01:52:22):
here's the breakdown. I'm curious what Jared's thoughts are on
the statistics, but what I've seen from both these teams
this is really strength on strength and strength on weakness. Okay,
so the Huskies have a great passing attack. The Penn
State Nitney Lions are really short up in the secondary,
(01:52:43):
so strength on strength. The Penn State Nitney Lions have
an awesome ground game Allen and Singleton out of the backfield.
The Huskies can't stop anybody can't, so I'm thinking the
numbers will reflect that. But that's what I see. If
Penn State sticks to the Dye mcduo out of the
backfield and they hold up against a Husky's passing attack,
(01:53:05):
this should be an outright win for the Nitney Lions.
Speaker 4 (01:53:08):
Yeah, quickly on on Franklin, I mean, I totally am
on board with how he handled that. There's so much
anonymity because of social media today. You can just hide
behind whatever moniker, you know, whatever you know, handle you
want and you don't have to take accountability for the
things that you say. Good on James Franklin for trying
to teach accountability to that kid who didn't learn the
(01:53:29):
lesson at that moment. But I bet he will remember
that moment for.
Speaker 3 (01:53:32):
The rest of his life.
Speaker 4 (01:53:34):
Washington's road trips at Rutgers, then they went back home
to play Michigan, then at Iowa, then bye week, then
at Indiana, then back home to play USC now at
Penn State. Two cross country road trips, two Midwest road trips,
bye week, and a home game. Like, that's a lot
of travel and rich you know this. It's not just
like getting on the bus and driving to this city.
(01:53:54):
You gotta move the equipment, you gotta move all the
and all these new cities, new hotels, new new places
to have your team meals like everything for Washington is different. Oh,
by the way, new head coach, new quarterback, new receiver
like it's been a really and the fact that they're
still kind of hanging around is impressive. Their defense, from
what I can gather, is not very good. They're okay
(01:54:16):
in the secondary, which is bad news because Penn State
receivers can't get any separation. But Steve Belichick, the one
thing defensive coordinate Baby Belichick, defensive coordinator for Washington, hasn't
done a good job at limiting the run game. Like
even Indiana, who's not a running team, ran it all
over Washington. For Penn State's offense, we need to see something, guys,
like we need separation, We need a receiver to make
(01:54:38):
a play. Like three receptions from the wide receivers last
week against Ohio State. They cannot win one on one.
I don't know if they can do it against this
Washington secondary, which is pretty good for Washington's offense. They're
very sloppy. They don't convert in the red zone. Will
Howard or excuse me, Will Rogers seventy percent completion rate
but sixty second in QBR, so they're not really you know,
(01:54:59):
chewing you up. And they're not even a top thirty offense.
So I think this is going to be a tight,
tough game, and I think Penn State wins. They probably
cover because you know, James Franklin loves cover, he.
Speaker 6 (01:55:10):
Does, he loves it except against good teams.
Speaker 2 (01:55:16):
We are.
Speaker 6 (01:55:17):
This is a cheap shot right there. I'm the back team,
you know. I low is the ointment.
Speaker 3 (01:55:21):
I'm the back team.
Speaker 4 (01:55:22):
It's all right. Just wait till we get that Penn
State Notre Dame playoff game like they had in the forecast.
Speaker 3 (01:55:27):
That, yeah, boy, that'd be fun.
Speaker 5 (01:55:30):
All right.
Speaker 6 (01:55:31):
We've got Rich Hornberger, Penn State, All American, Jared Smith

All right, Jared, we start with you.
Speaker 2 (01:56:48):
What do you like? Man?
Speaker 4 (01:56:49):
I'm going three and oh today I'm putting it out
in the universe.
Speaker 2 (01:56:51):
Now it's happening.
Speaker 4 (01:56:52):
We are abundance here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:56:54):
All right.
Speaker 4 (01:56:55):
We talked about this during Parley Potter West Virginia. They're
about a five now five and a half underdog at Cincinnati.
I am taking the Mountaineers. You know, I love betting
on teams the week after they fire a coach. DC
Jordan Leslie gone during the bye week in steps Jeff Cootz. Also,
the quarterback shift has moved this number a little bit
too heavy for Cincinnati. Garrett Green still banged up with
(01:57:16):
a head injury. Nico marciol four star recruit, had some
time last year, experience has a little bit of spark.
I think I think West Virginia covers this number, maybe
even wins outright. Hopefully they do for the parlay at Cincinnati.
I'm also betting the under in this game fifty five
and a half. Fifty five the most landed on total
in all of college football about three and a half
percent of the time. This is gonna be a running game.
(01:57:38):
Both teams, especially Cincinnati, is gonna have to run it.
They're not a very explosive offense, so we'll go under
fifty five and a half and the under. All miss
A Georgia gave this out yesterday if you want to
watch the video, got plenty more details, but I think
we're gonna see run, run, run, and good defense for
both the Dogs and the ReBs later tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:57:55):
Love it all right. I'm gonna start here by taking
the chirps and taking the points on the road. I
like Maryland at plus twenty three and a half at
Austin Stadium. The Oregon Ducks win big, but the turps
hanging around and they make it interesting. Ohio State rolls
and the Purdue boiler Makers continue a season long trend
(01:58:16):
of getting their doors absolutely blown off by elite competition.
Give me the Buckeyes minus thirty seven and a half.
In Mississippi State, they're dogged by twenty five and a
half against the Balls. It's not only the Shamus Special,
it's the Richie road Dog or Burger Special. Give me
the points and give me the Bulldogs at Tennessee. Let's
(01:58:38):
go all right.
Speaker 6 (01:58:39):
I'm gonna take you to what I call the AC
for a couple of picks.
Speaker 3 (01:58:43):
Here, it's the American Athletic Conference.
Speaker 4 (01:58:45):
I call it the ACT.
Speaker 3 (01:58:47):
Give me an Army.
Speaker 6 (01:58:48):
North Texas over sixty six and a half. Holy cow,
we got bryceon daily back as the Army quarterback. North
Texas doesn't play low scoring games. I'll take over sixty
six and a half, huge number.
Speaker 3 (01:59:01):
I think it goes over.
Speaker 6 (01:59:03):
I'll take South Florida at home plus four against Navy.
South Florida doubles good against the rush, big obviously against Navy.
And now this is the time. Ole miss styles make
fights great and have it great pressure. Carson Beck struggling
give me the two, Give me the two and the revs.
Speaker 3 (01:59:21):
In this one, I'll take them plus two against.
Speaker 4 (01:59:24):
The dogs one day.
Speaker 3 (01:59:27):
What do you think nine to zero combined. I don't know.
Nine and oh, enjoy the ball.
