(00:23):
tells me four games, eight teams, two of which you've
played for. So you've got like twenty five percent of
this late window covered. So with your pro career in
the National Football League.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, it's a fun time this. I was just talking
to you outside about how excited I am to be
here right now while the games are going on and
seeing my Jets on TV definitely makes the mood a
little bit better.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
And Senior Jets only down seven to nothing. We're gonna
get into that Eagles with the lead. You just heard
Monzi say your Cardinals are one of your former teams,
also in action in a tight one against the Rams today.
Obviously we've got the I don't want to call it
Belichick Bowl because but it kind of feels like it's
Belichick Bowl because Josh mcday annuals is the opposing coach
(01:02):
on the other sideline with the Razor Raiders. But it
is the Patriots and Raiders playing. And then for anybody
that listens to to Red Zone Radio, they know Chris
are technical producer, not only a huge Lions fan, but
what all the work Chris that you do with the Lions.
Where can our listeners get that information?
Speaker 3 (01:23):
Yeah, that'll be a Pridefdetroit dot Com and Pride to
Detroit on your favorite podcast platforms is where we put
out the podcast, and we've got it on YouTube. We've
got a pod direct Pride to Detroit everything.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
And this is carry The reason I wanted to say
that is because it is going to be completely one
sided because for the next three hours I'm just gonna
gush over the creamsicles because they're back. We wanted to
at least give equal time to the Lions because I
just am in love. I have waited for this day
for so long and I'm not even a Buccaneers fan. Yeah,
they just look so good wearing the creamsicles. But as
(01:58):
you heard mine, I.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Think a lot I think a lot of teams need
a huge return to these old things. Patriots, Eagles, Tampa Bay.
Let's just all go better on this season. And we've
seen the Patriots have theirs.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
But uh yeah, so Lion's Buccaneers are other late game
that we've got today.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah, and Chris is not just some you know, some
random fan boy here. He's really dedicated to his team
and does does excellent work over there.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Oh yeah, Chris, good job, buddy, thank you.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
We'll just we just have up an interview with Am
and Russain Brown too, So.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
Keep talking because then allows me to talk more about
the Creamsicles later on in the show, like I honestly
almost want a creamsicle now, a true story we have
we have picked on the Doug Gottlieb Show on Friday,
I picked the creams I think this is going to
be a good game. I I mean, I really do,
and right now the story matchup. Yeah, absolutely absolutely. But
I said, how in the world could I pick against
(02:46):
the Creamsicles today? Like that is it is not happening.
So I went with the Buccaneers straight up. But I did.
Huh they do look sharp, Dan, Yeah, I know. Look,
look they're even showing it on the graphics right now,
if you're driving in your car, pull over where the
Wi Fi and then maybe just try to bring up
the game on the phone while you continue to listen.
Not on the freeway though, no listen carry. I know
(03:07):
I'm a little older than you. This screams NFC Central,
Like that's what it is. It is not NFC North,
It is the NFC Central. That is what it screams.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Right now, what's the one player that pops up in
your mind when you see the cream sickle?
Speaker 4 (03:23):
There you go?
Speaker 1 (03:25):
All right? I was gonna say all start, but oh
that yeah, yeah, yeah. They had a highlight film of
all stock this past week in the Creamsickles and I retweeted,
I just like, you're you're right, like it looks so
so good. Unfortunately, you know who this second player, Vinnie
Testa Verdi, and he was awful with the Buccanteers, just
tough times there in their awful years, no offense, and
(03:47):
he had a great career afterwards, almost took the Jets
to the super Bowl. But uh, but I think of
that as well. There are a lot of unfortunately like
that logo, and it was mentioned at one point and
trust me, we're gonna get away we're gonna talk about football.
But when they switched over to the Pewter uniforms, that
the they kind of now where now is their main
(04:08):
set again? And then they won the Super Bowl over
the Raiders. You know, there was talk that, you know,
the creamsicicle was so associated with losing, and they never
wanted to go back to that because that was what
it they were associated with. And then about a you know,
ten fifteen years ago, they found out how much people
wanted to see it, brought it back for one weekend,
(04:29):
and they do it in a really cool way where
they honor an old Buccaneers player, where they you know,
may put a player up in the Ring of honor,
but someone who wore that uniform or a former buccaneer
gets honored. And then the NFL had their helmet rule
because they were worried about concussions. And then so for
a decade we didn't have those uniforms. But now the
entire stadium decked out in that creamsicle. That and that red,
(04:50):
that special red that they were with the orange. But
the misery that you saw, you think Steve Young, Steve
Young obviously, you know, great quarterback for the forty nine
Ers Hall of Famer, but started with the Bucks. Yeah,
I had an awful awful Dan was not good for
him there either, No, no, and maybe maybe that's why
the Buccaneers haven't scored in the first sixteen and a
half minutes of this game. That could be a reason.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Yeah, a good reversion back to uh, losing football will
be really well today because I took the lion.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
So there we go. Yeah, even more opportunity for the
equal time. I do want to talk about your your
Jets though, because this is a game today against the
Eagles where the Jets come in without their two starting quarterbacks. Yeah, uh,
dj Reid Shaws Gardner not available for the Jets today.
You're coming off of a win last week against Denver
(05:38):
that you used a lot of emotion. Yeah, and now
you've got the five and oh Philadelphia Eagles coming into town.
How difficult is it going to be today for the
Jets in this matchup where they trail seven nothing early
in this year. I don't think.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
I don't think it's going to be difficult, to be honest, Dan,
I mean, just as far as you know, getting back
up in emotion wise, getting back to an emotional states
to perform because they need this win, They need a
big perform. Is to keep trending in the right direction.
And Zach is looking good here early, get moving the
ball down the field, defenses playing well, still holding.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Up a little bit.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
So I'm expecting this game to be, you know, come
down to the wire.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Is that recipe? And and again I think that last
week was just so different because they wanted to stick
it to Sean Payton. But is was Zach Wilson good
enough last week? Is that the level of play that
he needs to play at? Doesn't He doesn't have to
be Aaron Rodgers. I don't think anybody ever expected him
to be. He just couldn't be the old Zach Wilson.
(06:34):
Has he showed you enough in his most recent starts
that he can get the job done for the Jets
to at least try to stay into the playoff picture.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Yeah, the number one thing was Zach is just his
humility going into this into this year. I meant he
got his bill rocked a little bit last year. And
you know, when you get to these moments of having
to you know, have like recourse on you as a
human being, then you know all the things that are
bad or good or whatever the situation is that really
(07:02):
completes you as a human goes into questions. So he
had to break down all those things and get to
a point now where you know, you get back to
the small details, not only as a human but as
a football player as well. It's and what we've seen
so far from him, everything is trending up, and I
think the team is behind him, and I think that's
a really good sign for him moving forward as well
as the Jets.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
He's five of eight for thirty five yards. The Jets
right now are driving against the Eagles. They are in
field goal range, going to face a second and ten
from the Philadelphia twenty two yard line. I think it's
and you know more about this than me carry because
you played and you experienced all this. I do think
that there is something to stacking games where chiefs game
(07:45):
very solid. I mean a lot of people on Monday
were pointing out Zack Wilson had better numbers than Patrick
Mahomes exactly. I don't know if he looked like the
part of the better quarterback, but when you looked at
the numbers and how it played out and what the
Jets did that night, Zack Wilson looked very, very capable.
Well then to compound what he did the last week,
again didn't throw a touchdown pass, but was pretty efficient.
(08:06):
It got some help Breese Hollow. It's a big touchdown run.
If you can continue that, I think that's a big
part of allowing Zach Wilson to make those steps. And
it's not the roller coaster that you get every single week,
and that's what I felt like we got last week
or last year, and there were a lot more lows
than highs when it came to Zach Wilson, the lowest
being that New England game, but there was nothing steady,
(08:28):
and so him stacking these games I think is hugely
important because he didn't get off to the greatest of
starts in Week two and in week three it was
difficult against Dallas, it was you know, difficult against New England.
But to be able to continue those I thought that
that was a big deal in his progression of just
being a better quarter one.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
Hundred per Dan. I mean, it's it works. It works
in tendem right. If you have a couple of bad
games in a row, then you know that's going to
be on your psyche. It's going to weigh heavy, and
you're going to try to not duplicate those games. But
in trying not to duplicate bad games, you usually have
bad game.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yeah. So if you're able to.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Get on an upward trajectory of positivity and starting to
see results on tape, and then your teams also get
to see how you're performing in those moments, the confidence
of the team rises, but also the confidence of the
quarterbacks rises.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
And that's what you're saying in Zach Wilson. So far,
we told you they had a second down, they got
a penalty on a third down, so it was third
and long, third and thirteen, and then on the third
down play, Wilson ends up just kind of throwing it
away on a little boot action. So the Jets are
going to have to settle for a field goal from
about forty two yards to try to pull within four.
(09:36):
Greg Zerline, who's spent a great weapon for them. He's
made twenty eight straight field goals. Just the graphic they're
actually showing on Fox right now. So if he misses it,
they're the kiss of not me. I'm taking zero responsibility
for this carry. If this does not go through the
up the upright not get correct, But the Jets miss
made you made it. It was so close. Even my
(10:01):
awful eyesight, I could not tell. Oh, so he missed it.
Me too, honestly. And if you're driving, you're wondering what's happening.
It was hugging the right upright like it was. It's
like if you're playing, if you're playing in golf, and
you're like, it's gonna hit the flight stick that's going right.
That doesn't happen a lot to me, But it's right
at it. Oh my goodness, it's right at it. And
then it missed it. And yeah, apparently it's close. Knuck in,
(10:26):
he's carry roads. I'm Dan Byer. Let's get you caught
up to date of what is happening elsewhere. Is the
Jets have pulled within four Jacoby Meyers a touchdown reception
for the Raiders. Patriots, though, have kicked a field goal
and they got the football back. So it's ten three,
six minutes to go until halftime as they play in
Las Vegas. That Lions Buccaneers game that I spent six
(10:46):
minutes of everyone's life talking about uniforms. Still three nothing,
so guess what more uniform talk on the way here
on Fox Sports Radio, Buccaneers have the ball nearing midfield,
which by the way, looks magnificent with the Buck Bruce
helmet right Look at that, I mean that is that
is just just gorgeous as the Buccaneers try to get
(11:06):
some points on the board. Down three to nothing in
that one in NFC West matchup that I think a
few weeks ago we thought could be a battle for
the number one pick, and now it's a little bit
more than that. Josh Dobbs and the Cardinals have gone
into La and have taken a six to three lead
early in the second quarter, and then uh yeah, that's it.
Then we've got the lines and Buccaneers three nothing. As
(11:27):
I mentioned at midfield, carry up at Carrie twenty five Roads.
You can find me at dan Byer on Fox We're
gonna take a look at what happened earlier today in
week six as well. And how in the world do
the Cleveland Browns have a recipe to beat the forty
nine ers. We're gonna break it down. That's next year.
On Fox Sports Red Zone Radio, we don't have points,
but we've got turnovers. Is We're live from the tireq
(11:48):
dot Com Studios. He's Carry Rhodes. I'm Dan Byer. It's
week six in the NFL. You're listening to Fox Sports
Red Zone Radio. Monsey Milanos will give us a score
update in about ten minutes. I'm about to tell you
what's some of the scores are right now though. Today's

Patriots were driving and they were down ten to three
to the Raiders, and then Mac Jones through a is
it fair to say bad? It was really bad? Oh,
really bad. On the interception completely overthrew Hunter Henry and
the Raiders get the football back, so they hold on
(12:31):
to the seven point lead. In New England, squanders a
scoring opportunity. We have points. In Tampa, Buccaneers have kicked
a field goal. They're tied with the Lions at three
apiece now midway through the second quarter. A field goal
fest in La. My neighbors at this game. Yeah, my
neighbor took his girlfriend. They were decked out, and there
Aaron Donald and Todd Gurley jerseys and they are and
(12:53):
enjoying a six to three barn Burner right now. I
hope my neighbor is twenty year old kid, great kid.
I hope they're secure in the relationship, because this is
taking a date to a six to three football game.
Unless it's Taylor Swift, I don't know if it's a
great idea.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Taking a date to a football game. It's it's this
is a This is not like an early date. This
is like they've been together.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Play all So I hope so or it could be
a reason to leave early, listen to us in the car,
and then they can go and do other things.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Yeah, I think we could probably. Yeah, footess that situation
a little bit. So let them know, Jaxson and let them.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Know we're here for him. It's six ' three in
the villa of the second quarter, Cardinals on top of
the Rams and the Jets have just turned the Eagles over.
So Zach Wilson expected to get the football in Philadelphia
territory is the Eagles leaded seven to three, ten forty
eight left to go until halftime. There the shocker of
(13:49):
the day and I don't think anybody saw this, and
we didn't know Deshaun Watson status. Saw this coming in,
We didn't know watson status throughout the week. It just
didn't look good when he wasn't practicing after the bye week,
and he ends up not playing today. But the Cleveland
Browns with PJ. Walker as their quarterback, going and have
(14:09):
the forty nine Ers come into town and the Browns
beat them nineteen to seventeen. Niners had a chance Jake
Moody mister field goal at the end of the game
that would have won it for the forty nine Ers,
but San Francisco dealt their first loss of the season
by the Cleveland Browns. I didn't pick Cleveland to win today,
but I think that there were so many signs carry
(14:31):
when you see this, and if you just take a
step back and look at the NFL and why this
really could have been a trap for the forty nine
Ers coming off of that huge emotional win on Sunday night,
and now you kind of go into a foreign stadium
you're not familiar with, You're three time zones away. They're
a wounded animal, they don't have their starting quarterback, but
(14:52):
they got a heck of a defense. I think there
was a lot there that showed you that Cleveland could
give the Niners the business, and they gave him more
than the business. They gave him their first loss of
the season today.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Yeah, Cleveland's one of those teams that I think they're
really good. Obviously, I mean, their record indicates that they're
middle of the pack right now, but they got the
potential to be a really good team as this season progresses.
Defense is number one in the league right now, and
then you have you know, Deshaun Watson starting to get
it and starting to play like Sshawn Watson. Hopefully he
(15:22):
gets back from his injury and play it's the same way.
But this team wasn't. I don't think it was a
huge surprise that they could win the game. I think
it's a huge surprise that they won the game coming
from how well sent Fran has been playing. But Cleveland's
a team that's going to be a team to reckon
with all year.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
How real is the emotional letdown of coming off of
that Cowboys game and then a week where everybody's telling
you that you are the toast of the town, you're
the best in the NFL. You just destroyed Dallas, who
he thought was a great team. Now, Dallas caught a
lot of keat, but we were also praising the forty
nine ers. How much of a toll do you think
that takes out a team? For sure?
Speaker 2 (15:54):
I mean it's definitely from the outside looking in, definitely
a trap game situation.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Exactly what you said.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
But I just you know, from being in the locker
room a lot of times you do have those moments
of that. But you can't have a trap game when
you're going into a team where you know Cleveland is
a team, like I said, if you look at them
on tape, you know they're physical, so they can match
physicality with San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
And so if they were able to get.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Enough stops like they did today, and plus the weather
was well, I mean it was raining a little bit sloppy,
so it evened the playing field on the skill position.
So it's one of those games where I mean, like
I said, I thought it'd be pretty close, and it
turned out to be that way.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
On a fourth and five, the Jets had the football.
I got some good news and bad news for you.
Carry they completed the pass on fourth and nine. That's
the good news. The bad news is it was for
four and a half yards, so the Eagles will get
the football back Zach Willson. It's not a saulid. He
didn't have anywhere to really go. Trey Conklin ends up
(16:49):
catching it along the sidelines, but just shy of the
first down marker, so it looks like the Jets will
be giving the ball back to the Philadelphia Egos. They
keep going on the replay, but he landed on the
wrong side of the first down marker and they needed
to get to the forty yard line. They did not
do it, so the Eagles will end up taking over
on downs a first and ten. The Niners thing is
just I think that there are two things that are
(17:12):
gonna come of this. You're gonna hear a lot about
the injuries. Deebo Samuel got dinged up today and didn't
return with the shoulder injury. Christian McCaffrey was hurt at
some point. But still, this is a conversation for a
team that all week we just talked about how many
great players they have, and it's not meant to downplay
the importance of Deebo Samuel or Christian McCaffrey's injury. Here
(17:36):
but everything that we had heard was how great this
team was, and now you have the other team not
have their starting quarterback having to go to a guy
that was just recently brought in. So I think that
makes all of the forty nine ers excuses for this
game pretty much moot because it wasn't great in Cleveland's case.
And now you see what happened with brock Purdy, who
(17:58):
people were pointing out MVP candidate, This could be the guy.
To look at what he has done. He could be
the most valuable player of them all. Goes twelve to
twenty seven today, one hundred and twenty five yards, a
lot of them on the final drive to end up
getting in field goal range, but through a touchdown, ended
up throwing an interception. It wasn't a great day for
(18:21):
brock Purty. And I think that this is it's a
good lesson. It's not to say this is who brock
Purty is, but I think it's a very good lesson
for all of us in wanting to anoint someone or
put the cart ahead of the horse, because we were
having these crazy conversations you compared to what you know
brock Purty did, compared to what Dak did last week,
(18:43):
and you're saying to yourself, Man, brock Purty's guy it.
I think he does have it. Everybody says he has it.
He looks cool. But right now, I don't think that
he's the quarterback to maybe make up for some of
the gaps that you may have when Deebo's hurt, when
Christian McCaffrey sitting out when the weather gets bad. And
that's why I think get showed up today in Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
I think you're one hundred percent accurate on that, on that,
on that assessment, But I also think that again, there's
gonna be games where things aren't pretty, and you're gonna
have off off nights just like you have great nights,
right And so either way, like the pendulum of being
great and being average happens a lot in the NFL,
and so there are a few guys that play at
(19:21):
that ultimate level all the time. And you see what
Patrick Mahomes had up. We just compared him to Zach
Wilson last week. Sure it happens. So I don't think
the the the assessments game to game really matter inside.
I think it matters more the outside for us to
talk about, But inside I mean, they're gonna be unwavering
in there in their support of brock Perty and I
(19:43):
think he is a guy that can get it done.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
I'll say this. They have the Vikings coming up in
week seven on Monday night. I would not want to
be Minnesota. You get extra day to prepare the grant
of the games in Minneapolis, but it is not a
spot where now you've got you've kind of, you know,
open up the dogs a little bit. I'm also by
the way, I just I do want to say one
thing and I have to clarify this, and I don't
(20:07):
know the answer. Are you friends at all with Trent Williams?
Do you know Trent Williams of the forty nine ers.
I don't know Trent at all. Okay, yeah, perfect, but
I do know. Go ahead, I'll let you go though.
Ill let you set it up because he got some
stop fighting wide receivers and cornerbacks. Okay, it's not a
good look. You are already the biggest man on the field.
We saw the sucker punch a few weeks ago against
the Giants. We've seen clips in the past when he
(20:28):
got in Richard Sherman's face. Today, when that brew haha.
Happened prior to the game, and Deebo was in the
center of it with the Browns and Niners. Trent Williams
comes barreling in. Watch this video, and you know who
he picks a fight with. Not Sadarius Smith, not Miles Garrett.
Elijah Moore, the wide receiver weighs about a bucks seventy five. Like,
(20:51):
that's who Trent Williams pushed out of the way. Moore's like, wait,
what was I doing? I wasn't even just you know,
fight someone your own size. It's my only point, Dan,
I think he will fight anybody, anybody I think hasn't.
That's the problem is I really see him as an
equal opportunity fighter. I really do.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
I mean, yes, Elijah Moore was on the wrong end
of it this time, but you know, you know how
it goes.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Maybe he's just starting small and working his way up
at a warm but right now, like like, wide outs
and corners should not be the people that you are
messing around with, Trent Williams. You need to mess around
with some of the bigger dogs. Niners got one from
the dog pound today at nineteen to seventeen. Let's jump
over to the news desk Manzi Belainos. By the way,
Trent Williams wants nothing to do with Monci, right, do
(21:36):
not get on your bad side, not at all.
Speaker 5 (21:38):
I would take him, Yeah, yeah, I would take them, Yes.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Absolutely, Carrie.
Speaker 6 (21:42):
What would you do if Trunk Williams was coming at you?
Speaker 2 (21:44):
I would stand behind him and get on the knee
and let you push him over.
Speaker 7 (21:49):
There we go.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
That's the gang plan right there, right there. Oh fellas,
what a day really? That forty nine Ers loss. Had
to have her poor kicker Jake Moody missing that forty
one year field goal.
Speaker 5 (21:59):
I would not like to beat him.
Speaker 6 (22:02):
But a lot of baseball, A lot of baseball, well,
there is baseball.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
Today, a lot of football today. Right now, four games
going on.
Speaker 6 (22:08):
Raiders up on the Patriots thirteen to three. They're about
to head into halftime. The Cardinals added a field goal,
so they're up on the Rams six three, five minutes
to go in the game. I don't know why you
would take your date to that. Let's hope it is
like they've been dating for a while, like if this
was your first date.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Yes, exactly, No, they were decked out. I think he
gave her his Todd Gurley like old school Rams Jersey,
which was yeah. Yeah, So it was awesome seeing him
go to the game. And then I'm like, she's watching
a field goal fest. Yes, you should have took her
to a soccer match. Yeah, sorry, Chris, no offense.
Speaker 5 (22:41):
But seriously no.
Speaker 6 (22:43):
Yeah, I hope, let's hope it's not a first, second,
or third date.
Speaker 5 (22:45):
Let's let's hope we're in the date.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Yeah, they're close to, you know, making that thing.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
Official exactly exactly. Lines and Buccaneers also kind of a
boring game.
Speaker 6 (22:54):
Three three so far, four minutes to go before they
reach halftime, and the only undefeated team left the Eagle
right now beating the Jets fourteen to three, and they
do have the ball. But all started today in London,
fellas with the Ravens beating the Titans twenty four to sixteen.
So Baltimore is now four and two six justin tucker
Field goals.
Speaker 5 (23:13):
He is the goat of that.
Speaker 6 (23:14):
The Titans did end the game with Malik Willis at quarterback.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
Ryan Tannahill sustained an ankle injury.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
He was on crutches, but he's not going to have
an MRI until they get home. The Bengals held on
to beat the Seahawks seventeen thirteen. Sorry, Dan, I don't
know how to tell you on that tough one.
Speaker 5 (23:29):
It was. It wasn't pretty, but they held on to
beat the Seahawks.
Speaker 6 (23:32):
And it was that tough interception at the end by
Geno Smith, but he did throw for three hundred and
twenty three yards two interceptions, that one at the end.
The Commanders beat the Falcons twenty four to sixteen. Sam
Howell had three touchdowns, he was sacked five times. Might
need an ice bath. The Vikings defeated the Bears nineteen
to thirteen. Justin Fields left the game for Chicago with
a right hand injury. The X rays were negative, but
(23:55):
he will have an MRI. The Jaguars outscored the Colts
thirty seven to twenty. Jacksonville's quarterback Trevor Lawrence twenty of
thirty one hundred and eighty one yards, two touchdowns, one interception.
Travis Etn eighteen carries fifty five yards and two touchdowns
the Dolphins. There was a moment where you thought, Wow,
maybe the Panthers will get their first win. You had
(24:15):
a moment like really in the moment lasted they were
up fourteen zero. Miami eras that and came out on
top forty two to twenty one Carolina, the only winless
team in the NFL. And then, of course the Texans.
They topped the Saints twenty to thirteen.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
CJ. Stroud, who has been great.
Speaker 6 (24:33):
That streak ended one hundred and ninety one passes without
an interception. He threw an interception today, but he did
throw for one hundred and ninety nine yards and two touchdowns,
so not too shabby.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
While you were talking, I'm on Ross Saint Brown. She
just got into the end zone for the Lions. WoT
did a lot of the work. Yes, on a Jared
Goff pass. The Lions have taken that lead ten to three.
Now on the Buccaneers.
Speaker 5 (24:58):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
Yes. And by the way, Manzie's boyfriend is a Ravens fane.
At six thirty this morning, No, he.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
Was up, but not at six thirty.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
But he was up.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
Okay, yeah, when I was up, he was already.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
This is the thing, and I bring this up whenever
we have the International Games. When you live on the
West Coast, if you live in the Pacific time zone,
you're spoiled with a lot of sports with the time
that it is, it's earlier. You don't have to stay
up until one am. I always feel that this is
our payback. It is like the London game. Oh yeah,
Like I'm sure anybody who's living in the Eastern time
(25:33):
zone is like, yes, football at nine thirty, How awesome
is that. We're like, we get it at ten every week,
you know, But this is our way of paying the
bill that on a Sunday morning you have the six
thirty game. And so yeah, it does on my on
my level, does it? Is it worth getting up? A
couple of weeks the Dolphins and Chiefs are going to
(25:53):
be playing in Germany. That's that's worth getting up on
a Sunday.
Speaker 5 (25:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Ravens Titans did not reach that threshold, and I got up.
I'm dead. I got up. I was up at six
thirty watching the game.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
And you know, you know, Lamar came out hot, he
did well, and uh got to win. I'm a Ravens
fan as well on the just slightly because of Lamar,
because you are Louisville, you know, my Louisville guy.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Yeah, yes, but so I was up. I didn't get
out to bed, but I was up the other graphic
that they show. They've showed because now the London games
are done, you have the two games in Germany. They
show that the Chiefs and Dolphins will play on November fifth,
ye and then the week after we are sending them
Colts Patriots. It reminds you of when you go to
a restaurant and the appetizers are all better than the
(26:36):
main entrees. You're like, I'm just gonna order three apps
because that's what you've got. Like Dolphins Chiefs just could
be the game of the year of the AFC right now,
with how how things are shaping out, we're gonna send
that one to Germany. But before they get too big
in their bretches, here's Colts Patriots.
Speaker 6 (26:53):
Maybe that will be exciting because it's gonna be like
three three in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
They're like, oh my goodness, you got a mac Jones
picked off again? You know, yeah, did that just happen?
Speaker 5 (27:07):
Right now?
Speaker 1 (27:09):
I was looking. I was like, whoa, sorry, yeah, no,
don't worry about it. There and that half time they're
at the half he can't throw any interceptions in the
locker room. We do know that that is for good,
all right? Hit her I at Monzi Blagio. She'll be
back later giving us the updates of what is happening
in all these games. DeAndre Swift getting into the end
zone for the Eagles as well. Again, they're up on
(27:31):
the Jets fourteen to three in that contest. Now it
was a nine yard pass, not a run for DeAndre Swift.
So if you have Jalen Hurts on your fantasy team,
you got the touchdown run earlier and now you got
a touchdown pass. But now it's the opportunity five twenty
six off to go until halftime. If you are Zach Wilson,
if you are the Jets, this is the opportunity that
(27:51):
you got to put something on the board.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
I agree, I agree, Zach. And these guys have to
move the ball down the field. They've gotten they've been
in it. They're in the position to keep this thing
close and keep it manageable, and if they don't hear,
it's going to be tough sledging from the way from
here on out.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
There's a lot of a lot of green here in
that game because of the uniforms on the field and
everything that you've got with it. But the Philadelphia Eagles
and we've shot today with the forty nine ers, Philadelphia
Eagles now are the final unbeaten team left in the
National Football League. And it's not that they aren't immune
from playing a bad game. They've had some tests. They
(28:27):
let the Patriots back in it. In Week one, they
had a game against the Vikings where Minnesota just wouldn't
end up going away. And then you had the Commander's
Game just a couple of weeks ago, where Ron Rivera
could have gone for two at the end of regulation,
decided to kick the extra point in force overtime and
the Eagles prevailed. But when you see what Philadelphia has
done so far, and I'm going to use the Kansas
City Chiefs, even though they've played on Thursday Night as
(28:50):
a bit of an example and comparing and contrasting these teams.
We just talked about the forty nine ers, and listen,
it's the National Football League too. I know it's an
easy cop out carry and saying that, but these things happen.
Everybody is paid, everybody is a professional. Guess what, some
weeks you're just not as good as you were the
week before. It's just not your week. And there's gonna
be a lot of different factors in that. I give
(29:13):
the Eagles a lot of credit for managing this, and
they may have the better roster, they may just be
the better team. But I thought that this team was
set up for a bit of a Super Bowl letdown.
For how you know you're leading in the second half
against Kansas City, you end up giving it away at
the end, Chiefs get the late field goal to end
up winning it. Losing the Super Bowl takes a lot audio.
(29:35):
It's what I liked about the Bengals last year is Yeah,
they lost a heartbreaker to the to the Rams in
the Super Bowl in a really good game, but they
came back and played good football and made it to
the AFC Championship. I thought Philadelphia was going to deal
with the Super Bowl hangover, and while it hasn't been pretty,
they're five and zero right now, the only remaining unbeaten
team in the National Football dah and so did I.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
I thought they would have a little Super Bowl hangover
as well, and to a certain degree, I'll steal think
they have. They've been able to win these games and
you know, at the end of the day, you know
either you win or you lose. But these guys aren't
They haven't been overly impressive to me, So to see them,
you know, still be sitting here at five and zero
right now at this time is a little bit of
a shot to me. But yeah, they got some stuff
(30:18):
they still need to work out. And I don't even
think that, you know, Jalen Hurts in that offense has
been humming on all cylinders at any point this year yet.
So I mean, they still have room for improvement. And
I also think having that room for improvement makes them
actually even scarier as the season goes on.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
They've got a crazy stretch of games. Okay, so they've
got the Jets here, but next week Dolphins come to
town for Sunday Night football. Then you got Division game
against the Commanders, the Cowboys, Chiefs, Bills, Niners. That's their stretch,
and then and then after that Cowboys Seahawks. So you
(30:57):
are gonna have some big games. You're gonna have to
be up and up. I'm giving them credit as now.
Bryce Hall has got the Jets into deep into Eagles
territory on a big run. So it's fourteen to three
under four minutes to go. The point that I just
want to compare the Eagles and the Chiefs to is.
(31:17):
I don't think the Chiefs are playing great football right now, Carrie.
I think that the Eagles have been impressive because they've
been able to stay five and zero. They've been able
to weather some of their stuff, something that the Niners
just couldn't end up doing today. And yeah, maybe the
kick goes through the uprights. It's they're in the same
spot is where the Eagles are. But the Chiefs, I
(31:38):
think have I think the Chiefs are going to have
a little bit of difficulty. I really do. I think
that where they are playing right now, we have talked
so much about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey that we
haven't entirely focused on what is right and what is
wrong with Kansas City right now. And unless a move
is made, unless they do something at the trade deadline,
(32:00):
I'm not sure how much better they're going to get
with Travis Kelsey can only do so much. Patrick Mahomes
can only do so much. Isaiah Pacheco has actually been
pretty good for them. You're gonna need Rashi Rice or
Sky Moore or somebody like that to really step to
the play or that defense to really step up, because
the Chiefs haven't looked that great in these first six
(32:21):
weeks of the season, at least to what we're accustomed
to with Kansas City. Maybe there's more of the Super
Bowl hangover in Kansas City than it was in Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
Yeah, I think the thing with the Chiefs is we're
just used to seeing them score so many points and
they're not able to do that right now. I think
their defense has been impressive, So there's there's a little
bit of shift going on in Kansas City as far
as their overall makeup as a team. Defensively right now,
at this point, they're strong soup and until they get
some other guys on the offensive side, you know, receiving wise,
(32:50):
pass catchers to step up and make plays, they're gonna
be in the in the middle of the road and
defense is gonna have to carry them.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Right now. Imagine that being five and one and I'm
on Crest. Jets have it third and ten at the
Philadelphia eighteen yard line and Zach Wilson was just sacked,
So they're going to have to settle for three down
fourteen to three with about three minutes to go in
that one. We told ja aman Ras Saint Brown scored
for the Lions extra point was good, so now they're
up ten to three on Tampa. Tampa's got the football
(33:19):
nearing midfield with a bucks six left to go until halftime,
and the Lions have just gotten a stop on third down,
so Tampa's going to have to punt it. Away mentioned
that the Raiders and Patriots continue to be at halftime.
Las Vegas up thirteen to three in that one, and
the field goal fest continues, but Arizona driving against the
Rams a first and ten from LA's fifteen yard line
(33:40):
and they've got a six to three lead on the
other side of the two minute warning again nearing halftime
in La. He's Carry Rhoads, eight year NFL VET at
Carrie twenty five Roads. You can find me at Dan
Byro on Fox's Where Live from the tireq dot Com studios.
Coming up next, Do the Bears have a quarterback controversy
now in Chicago? That in your fantasy numbers? Here on

Speaker 8 (34:01):
Hey, I'm Doug Gottlieb. The podcast is called All Ball.

I think you'll like it.
Speaker 8 (34:22):

Speaker 1 (34:30):
Fox Sports Radio, it's a Fox Football Sunday Red Zone
Radio if you will. In Week six of the NFL season,
he's Carry Rhodes. I'm Dan Byer again. Hit us up
at Dan Byer on Fox is where you can find
me at Carrie twenty five Roads. Four games going on
right now and just underway in the second half of
(34:50):
the Raiders on top of the Patriots thirteen to three,
the Cardinals kick the field goal, so it's nine to
three Arizona late in the first half against the Rams.
Lions are up ten three on the Buccaneers at the half,
and we've got a happening in New York where the
Jets have just forced an Eagles turnover. It's fourteen to
six Philadelphia. But now Zach Wilson gets the football. Quincy
(35:12):
Williams has been everywhere lately and he's the one on
top of this football. So Zach Wilson down eight will
take over at midfield as the Jets have some opportunity
to get some points. CJ. Mosley forced the fumble on
DeAndre Swift and so the Jets end up taking over.
I was wondering why you were going crazy for a
little bit. I'm glad that you're you're not impartial, you know.
(35:34):
I'm glad that it's just completely one sided for the
Jets here.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
I'm just excited about football being on. Dan, don't take
too much into what I'm doing right now. It's you know,
at the corner of my eye, I saw some something happening,
and you know, fort the Green and White.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
So I was a little excited. Bart tweets in banged
up by who nice attempt to deflect credit from the
Browns and make excuses for the forty nine ers. I
didn't do that. No, I'll tell you what I think
I did, and I'll tell you why, Bart, because the
only story that the Cleveland Browns have been all year
is when Nick Chubb was hurt and Deshaun Watson hasn't
(36:09):
played because of his shoulder Injury's the only reason we've
talked about the Browns where the forty nine ers have
been the absolute conversation for the first six weeks of
this season, weekend and week out, day in and day out,
and when you go to Cleveland and you lay an
absolute stinker after people are saying that you have four
MVP candidates on your team. Yeah, that's probably going to
be the story. I'm sorry. I'm not going to spend
(36:30):
thirty minutes talking about the virtues of PJ Walker, who's
only been on your team about five minutes. That's why, Bart,
That's why I didn't spend the afternoon talking about the
Cleveland Browns. If you want to go on a run
and I think you have a pretty good defense and
you play and you're a playoff caliber team, I'll happily
talk to you. But the forty nine ers were one
of two unbeaten teams right now in the National Football League,
went to Cleveland and got crushed. Okay, that's why they're
(36:52):
the topic the conversation. We gave the Browns a credit. Sorry, Dan,
that's the reason why.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Yeah, you might want to delete your tweet now. That
was that was he dropped the mic on you. Oh relax,
that's all right. I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
I'm not gonna break down the ins and outs of
Jerome Ford's game today. It's just not gonna happen, all right.
I like the Browns. I think that they have an
opportunity to make the playoffs because of what you said,
a great defense. Jim Schwartz has Kyle Shanahan's number. If
you listen to the podcast I do with Ryan bersching
or where we talk fantasy football, meet him and Mike Harmon.
I want your flex downloaded anywhere you get your podcasts.
(37:28):
You would have heard that I said, I really like
the Browns this week. But the story right now is
the Niners Leyden Egg in Cleveland. By the way, speaking
Ryan Berschinger, Bro, Ryan Berschinger is here with some fantasy numbers. Ryan, no.
Speaker 10 (37:45):
Fantasy heads.
Speaker 9 (37:47):
And missus.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
Alright, Ryan Berschinger, the floor is yours.
Speaker 11 (37:53):
Well, uh, we'll definitely be mentioning mentioning that Niners Browns
game here when we gets Okay, yeah, only time the
nights to a tongue of I lower your top scoring
quarterback of the day twenty one of thirty one, passing
for two hundred and sixty two yards and three passing touchdowns. Also,
Sam Howell is your quarterback two on the day because
of his three passing touchdowns. Good for you. Sam Raheem
(38:13):
Mostert once again is your top scoring running back on
the day. Seventeen carries for one hundred and fifteen yards
and two touchdowns on the ground, also has three catches
on three targets for seventeen yards and a touchdown through
the air. Your top scoring receiver on the day. Let's
stick with a dolphin, shall we. It's Tyreek count six catches,
six catches on ten targets, one hundred and sixty three
(38:35):
yards and a touchdown. And let's go to the other
side of that game. Adam Thielen eleven catches on thirteen
targets for one hundred and fifteen yards and a touchdown.
Let's look at some missus, shall we. So a couple
guys who got hurt in the missus justin fields six
of ten for fifty eight yards in an interception after
two very strong games, of course, left that game with
an injury. Did have forty six rushing yards. But then
(38:57):
Tyson badgeint or however it's pronounced. There we go, he
from Shepherd, Yeah, he outscored justin Field.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
This actually so uh quarterback controversy as.
Speaker 11 (39:12):
We mentioned, Yeah, Deebo Samuel a rough day, no catches
on one target and two rushes for eleven yards, and
then he left with an injury. And as you mentioned, Dan,
you were pretty low on pieces of the Niners, especially
George Kittle. You mentioned on I Want Your Flex you
gave one reason not to start George Kittle this week
George Kittle had one catch on two targets for one yard.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
There it is so yeah. I even gave the Browns
credit won the game.
Speaker 11 (39:38):
And those are your fantasy hits and misses from the
early game.
Speaker 2 (39:41):
And Ryan left out one thing with the Tyreek Hill thing.
You got to add the buckles flip to that as well.
Speaker 11 (39:46):
That's true. That's that's got to be it style for
bonus points, right.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
Yeah. I love that you went and gave the fan
that gave the football to his mom, like you gave
him a special deal. Like, yeah, that was awesome. Ze
kelliots into the end zone, so the Patriots closed the
gap on the Raiders. It's thirteen to nine extra point
coming up midway through the third quarter, and again nearing halftime,
Jets have it first and ten at the Eagles thirteen
yard line, trying to add some points before the half.
(40:11):
We'll tell you if they get in the end zone.
He's carry roads. I'm Dan Byer. We'll tell you next
year on Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
Yeah, it's a field goal fast that we've got Week six.
A lot of kicks, but big injury as you heard,
and so much more. With four games going on in
this late window, all of them still hanging in the balance,
we got some good football here to bring you on
Fox Sports Radios. We are broadcasting live from the tirerac
dot com studios. Tirerac dot com will help you get there.
An unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road has it protection,
(40:52):
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirerac dot com the
way tire buying should be. The Raiders. With that thirteen
to ten lead on, the Patriots are now playing without
Brian Hoyer, or excuse me, without Jimmy Garoppolo, and it's
going to be Brian Hoyer for the rest of the way.
As the reports say that Jimmy g has been taken
into an ambulance because of a back injury and it's
going to a local hospital in Las Vegas. What caught
(41:15):
my eye, And I admit I am not fully in
tune in checking out everyone's inactives each week. But carry
we are a couple of weeks removed when Aidan O'Connell,
the rookie from Purdue, got to start for the Raiders
against the Chargers. Now in a situation here, O'Connell isn't
even available to be the backup of Garoppolo because he
was inactive. So their plan was if something happens to
(41:37):
Jimmy G Brian Hoyer is in right now it's paid
off as it looks like the Raiders just completed a
big pass play to get into New England territory up three,
but they choose to use O'Connell as the emergency and
Hoyer in the backup of the game situation. But when
Jimmy G's ruled out during the week, seemed to have
gotten O'Connell accustomed to everything. Maybe more of a long
(41:58):
term play and maybe Brian Hoyer is just better shuited
in that scenario to fill in mid game than the
rookie would be.
Speaker 2 (42:04):
Yeah, I think your your assessment is right there as well. Dan,
I think, yeah, if you give the young guy a chance,
you want to give him a chance to be fully
prepped in or breast to whatever the whole situation, the
whole game plan is going to be throughout the week,
and give him the reps as well, because he's going
to have to see as much as he can during
that week to be ready to play in the middle
of the game, in the middle of the fire. You
(42:24):
want to go with the veteran Brian Hoyer knows the
Raiders system. Obviously, he knows New England as well, playing
a lot of years there, so the familiarity works in
this situation.
Speaker 1 (42:33):
Yeah, I was gonna say, how much do you would
how much would that factor in? Do you think if
Josh mcdannels is saying, all right, not that you're planning
on a Jimmy g injury, but of just knowing the
other team's system. You know system, and now they are
ruling Jimmy Garoppolo out for the game. Obviously they took
him to the hospital that that seemed like the case,
but that the official word. But how much of just
(42:54):
Hoyer knowing New England do you think played a decision
in that.
Speaker 2 (42:57):
I mean in the past, right, New England's been really
good at getting after young quarterbacks anyway, So if you
got a young quarterback come into the game in that situation,
the looks that the Patriots give, they like to disguise
a lot of things. So you know, Hoyer would be
more of a viable option here, and option that can
go out and understand some of the schemes that New
England likes to run.
Speaker 1 (43:17):
So it makes sense. I'm also going to say this
is and it's not that you want to take any
game for granted in the National Football League. Look what
happened today again with the forty nine ers and what
I think is a very good Cleveland defense, Brons ended
up getting the win in that game. This is a
winnable football game for the Raiders. Yes, this isn't a
you know, Aid O'Connell wouldn't have gotten the first team
(43:39):
reps in practice this week because Jimmy G is healthy.
When Jimmy G was out, O'Connell could get those reps, right,
But you also look at it just from the from
the sheer factor of Brian Hoyer is not going to
have to be superman here, and not that you wanted
Aidan O'Connell to be Superman, but you just don't mess
it up. Make plays. We feel we have a better team,
(44:00):
we should be able to get a win here. And
I think that's also the scenario here, because the Raiders
aren't out of it by any means. Two and three.
You get this winnable football game. You're sitting at three
and three, and in the thick of it is you
hit the second third of the season. So just of
even of if they were if they were playing a
much better opponent, I don't know, maybe it's a little different,
but this is a winnable football game, one that you
(44:21):
can't lose if you want to make the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
Yeah, this is this isn't an indictment on O'Connell here.
This is a chance end game to make a play,
make a switch to a guy that, like I said,
knows the game, knows the system. He's a veteran, a
guy that and the whole scheme of things here you
would think would not be the one that's going to
make a lot of mistakes. So you want to play
mistake mistake free football here and try to get a win.
Speaker 1 (44:45):
It's what we are watching one of the four games
going on right now. In the Raiders, as I told you,
we're driving. They have a first and ten at the
New England eleven yard line, but now a penalty is
going to back them up, so it's going to be
first in twenty. Can still get a down at the
one yard line, but they're gonna have their fresh set
of downs here now start from the twenty one yard
(45:07):
line after the holding penalty. Josh Jacobs had a run
that took him inside the ten, but now backed up
because of the hold. So the Raiders in the red
zone are just actually just outside of the red zone now,
but trying to put some points on the board. Detroit
is driving against Tampa early on in the third now
in Tampa territory. The Lion's holding a ten to three
(45:28):
lead in that matchup of two one loss teams Detroit's
four and one on the season. Tampa comes in at
three to one. They are at the half in LA
going to start here in a little bit between the
Rams and Cardinals. That is nine to six and three
greg zero line field goals or all the Jets can
muster on offense. They trail the Eagles by five of
fourteen to nine. We've talked about Zach Wilson and the
(45:50):
Jets today. Mac Jones, I think can be putting this
sort of conversation as well. We saw play in this
Jets Eagles game when we were in the commercial break
where all goes off the hands of Randall Cobb and
maybe it's not perfectly placed, but professional wide receiver, professional
pass catchers sometimes can can make these plays. My question
(46:11):
is how difficult is it for a player to get
into a to a rhythm, like is there any excuse
for a wide receiver to drop a football? Because I
would say that there if you're running a route and
Zach Wilson is throwing you the football and if two
out of every four of his passes are off the mark,
I think you can lose rhythm. That's what I would see.
(46:34):
So when you actually do have a ball that is
on the mark and you end up going through your
hands and off your fingertips, I feel it's because the
wide receivers aren't in a rhythm. Is there any validity
to that. Should we give a pass to any of
these wide receivers or is it you're paid to catch
the football? Catch the stupid football?
Speaker 2 (46:49):
You're paid to catch the ball, yeah, and professional pass
catchers to cast the ball no matter where the ball is.
But there is some validity to what you're saying as
far as ball places men. I mean, if Aaron Rodgers's quarterback,
most of the times, the ball placement is going to
be where it needs to be, right Zach, Zach is
still getting the field for some of these guys, and
especially a guy like we just saw the drop with
(47:10):
Randall Cobb. With Zach Wilson, he hasn't had a lot
of time with him, sure, and so you don't know
where the ball is going to be with the placement.
But as a catcher, you can't make that excuse. You
got to make the catch. I want to double down
on that.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
The Raiders are gonna have to settle for a field goal,
getting down to the twelve yard line but failing to
convert on their third and eleven, So Daniel Carlson on
to kick a field goal to extend their lead to
sixteen to ten, a thirty yard tempt shorter than an
extra point, so the Raiders Carlson one of the best
kickers in the game, is true, So it is sixteen
to ten Raiders over the Patriots as an offensive back,
(47:44):
when you know that the ball can be anywhere, how
appealing is that? How do you guys have to stay
focused knowing that there could be some Iront's coming your
way because of the inaccuracies of the quarterback.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
It can't, I mean to be honest, No, no, no, you
can't really play it that way.
Speaker 1 (48:02):
But again, we.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
Don't know what the ball is going to be, right,
so the receiver, if he doesn't know what the ball
is going to be, we have to kind of play
it honest. I think a lot of times with me,
if I was playing a guy that I knew I
had a chance to make plays on, I would be
a little bit more aggressive.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
Yeah, but you just can't.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
You can't just abort certain things and try to jump
things because of the inaccuracy though, So it's like, do
you have to do your job first? And I think
even in these situations with a guy like that who
is inaccurate, if you're in your position and you play
your position right, the ball may just come to you
instead of trying to make.
Speaker 1 (48:38):
Is there a flip side when you're facing a Manning
or a Brady knowing that maybe those opportunities to get
that turnover aren't coming. Is there any difference in that
where you're saying, all right, I gotta focus more on
this than maybe anything else.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
I think the thing with those guys are, when you
play really good ones, you have to try to confuse
them to get them to throw the ball bad. So
it's more about positioning, more about disguising, So giving them
guys a look to where maybe they'll throw it to
the place that they think you're gonna be, or the
place you're not gonna be, but you're gonna be there.
(49:15):
So you try to get some of those with those guys.
Speaker 1 (49:17):
Yeah, I just thought that some of the Raiders defenders
to be like, all right, this could be our day today.
Same thing with some of those in the Eagles secondary.
But right now things at least holding up with the
Jets side of things. Zach Wilson again doesn't have to
be the superstar, just has to get the job done.
The tough part is the Eagles have a really good
defense and now you're settling for field goals right now,
(49:39):
and at some point you do have to get into
the end zone. Maybe the defense ends up making that play.
At some point we saw it last week to cinch
the deal against Denver. The defense came up and Quincy
Williams had the sack and Bryce Hall picked it up
and ran it back for a score, and that was that.
Maybe that's something that the Jets need. As they trail
at halftime fourteen to nine the Lions, we told you
(50:01):
they were in Tampa territory. They had to settle for
a fifty two yard field goal attempt that was just
off the mark, so Riley Patterson unable to convert, so
the Buccaneers will take over first and ten at their
own forty two yard line. As the score remains ten
to three in that matchup in Tampa, Lions four and one.
(50:21):
Tampa comes in with a record of three and one.
As I mentioned, two one lost teams having a showdown
in the sun drenched city of Tampa this afternoon now
now early evening out on the East Coast, and again
the field goal fest continues between the Cardinals and Rams
nine to six. I wasn't expecting a lot, but I
(50:45):
was expecting maybe a touchdown at some point in this game.
We are thirty four minutes in and no touchdown. Again.
I don't know if my neighbor and his girlfriend have left.
There wouldn't be a reason to leave except to beat traffic.
But you have a good football game going on right now,
so hopefully they are staying.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
I think we should text him. We should check the
temperature on this date and see how it's going. See
if a couple of hot dogs and a couple of
beers in and it's going to be exciting.
Speaker 1 (51:13):
They're going to score here. The Rams is going to
score now. They just converted on a third and one.
Kyron Williams getting the fresh set of downs for the Rams,
who are now inside the red zone again. Arizona up
nine to six, but the Rams will have it first
in ten at about the Cardinals fifteen yard line. He
is Carrie Roads. Hit him up at Carrie twenty five Roads.
You can find me at Dan Byer on Fox. Tampa
(51:36):
is driving as well. Chris god went a big play
to put them in the Lions territory. Mike Evans is
just now put him into the red zone. So Tampa
trying to take advantage of that miss field goal by
Detroit knocking on the door looking to add some points
the Raiders so that sixteen to ten lead on the
Patriots three thirty two left to go in the third
quarter and Jimmy Garoppolo out for the rest of the
(51:56):
game with a back injury. Brian Hoyer is in for
Las Vegas and they're just getting underway in New Jersey.
Eagles on top of the Jets fourteen to nine. We
are a lot for the Tirek dot Com studios. Coming
up next? Is there a quarterback controversy in Chicago? What
to do with the San Francisco forty nine ers after
their first loss today? And so much more that's next
here on Fox Sports Radio. All Right, we got some
(52:20):
points on the board in Tampa again, just a field
goal Buccaneers closer than for the Lions midway through the
third quarter. He's carry Rhoads. I'm Dan Byer. It's Fox
Sports Red Zone Radio. Rams are in the end zone.
Matthew Stafford to Cooper Cup. Yes, a touchdown in La
Cup four catches one hundred and fourteen yards and that
(52:41):
score extra point was good. So the Rams are up
on the Cardinals thirteen to nine midway through the third quarter.
At the end of the third the Raiders have the
football in New England Territory, looking to add to their
six point leads sixteen to ten, and the Eagles are
up on the Jets fourteen to nine. But Carrie Rhodes,
you said something to me during the break that you
feel our audience needs to know.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
Yes, besides your neighbor and his girlfriend now being able
to celebrate a touchdown. Yes, besides that, I picked the
Jets to win this game. And I know I've been
jumping around the studio a little excited. That's the reason why.
Because I tweeted out that the Jets were going to
win this game before it started, all right.
Speaker 1 (53:21):
And he said it to me. Here he goes, the
Jets are going to win this game. They trail by five,
have the football Philadelphia up fourteen to nine, but they
have it at their own seven yard line. To talk
about this so much more Week six in the NFL,
trying to explain what went on in Cleveland this afternoon.
Matt Verderram of Sports Illustrated covering the National Football League
(53:42):
joins us now on Fox Sports Radio. Happy Week six. Matt,
thanks so much for taking the time. How are you.
Speaker 4 (53:48):
I'm good, How are you guys doing great?
Speaker 1 (53:51):
Let's start with the story of the day, and it
is in Cleveland with the Browns getting the win and
knocking off the forty nine ers nineteen to seventeen, something
that Kerry and I have this gust. What's your takeaway
from this? I guess letdown, pretty big letdown from the
Niners after the win against the Cowboys, now kind of
laying an egg in Cleveland and being dealt their first
loss of the season by the Browns today.
Speaker 4 (54:12):
Yeah, you know, I mean, look, I think I think
the Niners are still everything that we thought they were
going into the game. It's the NFL. It happens, you know,
teams lose weird games. Last year, the Chiefs won the
Super Bowl, they lost the Colt and the Browns are
a lot better than that golf team. So I think, look,
if you're pretty that's a game you feel like you
didn't play well. In fact, you played awful football for
(54:34):
most of the day. The team took twelve penalties, they
had a turnover, the weather wasn't good, they lost Samuel,
they lost McCaffrey, and it took them missing a forty
one yard show goal at the gun to lose a game.
I mean, if you're the Niners and that's what it's
going to take you to lose, you feel pretty good. Sure,
I think really the story of the game is the
(54:54):
Browns defense, which really right now is probably the best
defense in the NFL. Bag just don't have a anything.
They would have beaten Pittsford earlier this year. I think
two offensive or non offensive touchdowns. They're they're playing great
under Jim Schwartz.
Speaker 2 (55:08):
Matt to kind of piggyback on that game and stay
right there. Let's talk about the acquisition of PJ. Walker,
even though he's been a journeyman and and hasn't had
a lot of success. Yeah, he had some minimal success
in Carolina Carolina last year as a as a four
game starter, and he's somebody I've been really impressed with.
How how did he show up for this game?
Speaker 4 (55:29):
Yeah, you know, I thought, look, when you play the Niners,
you have to deal with a lot of pressure. You've
got to be able to navigate the pocket, and I
thought for most of the day he did a good
job of that. It wasn't perfect. There were some mistrows
that that's going to happen. I mean, you knew that
going to the game. But PJ. Walker's job was to
give them a chance to win. The football game. Don't
(55:50):
be the reason you lose. And he he did that.
I mean he look I think by no means you're
watching that game and thinking, wow, he looked great. But
he didn't make the killer mistake. He didn't throw that
the pick that ended the game.
Speaker 10 (56:06):
He didn't.
Speaker 4 (56:07):
He didn't make a throw that you'll look back on.
Go okay, that's for the whole game turn and so
you let the Browns defense and the running game do
its jobs and carry the team. And that happened. And
if you're the Browns, you feel amazing. You beat the
Niners or three and two, you're right in that divisional range.
Speaker 1 (56:25):
Matt Vertram joining us here on Fox Sports Radio covering
the National Football League for Sports Illustrated. Find him on
Twitter at Matt verde Am Bengals get a win against
the Seahawks today. Seahawks had some opportunities late. Joe Burrow,
still nursing that calf injury, looked really good this past week.
T Higgins came back but wasn't as much of a factor,
and their offense kind of stalled a bit. Any any
(56:47):
concerns with Cincinnati despite the win today over Seattle and
what that offense can do maybe against better teams and
better competition in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (56:56):
Yeah, honestly, a lot of concern because you know, we
have this tenn seed. Because I felt only seventeen games
to just look at the result and kind of be
blind everything else. I watched every snap of that game
this afternoon. The Bengals offense was a train wreck for
a huge chunks, including the entire second half. Burrow is
averaging five yards in attempt in that game. I mean,
you're not You're just not going to beat many good
(57:18):
teams playing that way. Look, Seattle's a good team. Seattle
almost doubled them up in yards. I mean, Seahawks moved
the ball the entire game. The problem was in the
red zone they were one to five and Gino threw
two picks and that's the cost of the game. I mean,
realistically speaking, if Seattle just plays a little bit better situationally,
they win. And kudos to the Bengals defense, which is excellent,
(57:39):
and they did nice shot. But yeah, I know, look,
the Bengal's now going to the boy. They come out
of it and they go to San Francisco and then
they host the Bills. If they don't get markedly better
on offense. They're going to be three and five because
they just can't move the ball and Burrow has shown
no ability to throw the ball down the field Sapoy
(58:00):
throwing aarson. So it's been it's been rawful. If they
got to win, is it the Bengals? You throw to
depth about that? But they looked nothing like the team
that's gone to the AFY Championship Game each the last
two years.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
Yeah, Matt, I actually thought Cincinnati would take a step back,
a little bit of a step back this year anyway.
So I mean the way that you know, obviously the
cap injuries making affecting Burrow and he's not looking the
same either, so with him kind of you know, I
guess regressing to the mean a little bit. They're they're
going to be in trouble. But let's stand in the
AFC North as well. I mean, that division's up for grabs,
as SAMs I think, I mean, from the outside looking in,
(58:33):
Baltimore is the team that, in my opinion, should win
that division. But they've been stumping, stumping their tol soo
much this year and and putting themselves in situations where
they can lose games late. So who do you see
actually winning that division.
Speaker 4 (58:47):
Yeah, Kerry, I'm with you. I mean I think I
think I would pick Baltimore based on the fact that
I just don't know if Burrow is going to be
right this season. If you told me he's gonna come
out of the buy and he's going to be right there,
I'll take Cincinnati, but I don't know that that's going
to be the case. And their schedule is brutal. I mean,
they still have to play then Ierson Bells. Like I mentioned,
they have to play Jacksonville, they got to play at Baltimore,
(59:10):
they got to play at Kansas City, they got to
play Cleveland again who owns them? They got to play
Pittsburgh twice. I mean, even if they're right, they might
go ten and seven. So I'll take Baltimore. But you
said it best. I mean, the problem with Baltimore is
not the talent, it's not the coach. It's just they
have these weird games. In Pittsburgh, they should have beat
by twenty points. They dropped a million passes. Then this week,
(59:34):
you know, they let the Titans linger around forever in
that game and it essentially needed a pick by Genos
Stone to kind of get that big role, and it's
it's been an odd year for them, but they're four
and through it. They're getting a little bit healthier, So
I like the direction they're heading.
Speaker 1 (59:48):
Jared goff Is just thrown a forty five yard touchdown
pass to Jamison Williams and the Lions extending their lead
over the Buccaneers seventeen to six. Three minutes to go
on the third quarter, the Rams driving an inside the
Cardinals five yard lineup four, Jets moving the football down five,
but there's some laundry on the field. That one is
still fourteen to nine. Matt Verderram joining us here on
(01:00:10):
Fox Sports Radio. He's Carrier Roads. I'm Dan Beyer. I
want to talk a little bit more about what happened earlier.
You know, I don't know what we have with the Bears,
but there was just this sense, and maybe it's the
people I follow on social media, but when Justin Fields
went out and Tyson Beagent comes in, it wasn't that
Beijen had to be a world saver. It just felt
(01:00:32):
like there was I don't know, relief isn't the right word, Matt,
but there was just like this different feeling and people
are going crazy when they score a touchdown? Does that
say all we need to know about the Justin Fields
time in Chicago? Or now he's got a hand injury
and they fall to a wounded Vikings team today? But
how do we look at the Bears quarterbacking situation with
now Fields being dinged up and having to be replaced today?
Speaker 4 (01:00:56):
Yeah, looks out Chicago. So I feel like I live
with this conversation every day in my life.
Speaker 10 (01:01:03):
Was I wrong?
Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
Was I wrong with my assessment on what it felt
like when Fields went out of the game, Because I
just felt like they're like, yeah, let's you what Tyson
Bagen's got? Like that was the sense that I got.
Speaker 4 (01:01:14):
I think really right now in Chicago there's more of
a sense of gi just it's this frustration. I mean,
they haven't had a quarterback since World War Two that
that's been good consistently. I mean Sid Luckman was that guy.
And last year, even though the team was awful, you know,
Field is startling. Okay, maybe he's the guy. And now
you watch these games and you're like, I don't know,
(01:01:35):
I mean, can you really sell that he's the guy?
You really feel like he's got you gotta be the
guy going forward. The problem for Field is, look, the
Carolina's pick. Carolina is to dispoint the Wars see in
the NFL, the Bears of their own pick. They might
literally have the top two picks in the draft. And
if you could draft Caleb Williams, you're doing it like
(01:01:55):
I don't care what jumpin Field does the rest of
the year. I mean, on a lot of Field looks
like Joe Antana the rest of the way. You're not
keeping him. This is not and so that's why I
think you're almost to appointment. The Bears is like I
don't want to say nonchalance, but to a point of like, look,
if this doesn't go the way we really want to go,
all right, well we're gonna take Williams or Michael Pennex
(01:02:17):
or Drake may Or. Because I at this juncture, I
don't know how you could watch Fields and think he's
the guy. He's got talent, like maybe he puts it together,
but right now he has not put it together. That
team has not put it together. And I think now
you sit here and look at them and go, all right, well,
this season looks like it's headed for a very very
bad record.
Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
Again, he's Matt Verdram Sports Illustrated. Find him on Twitter
at Matt Verdam. Matt. We appreciate the time. Enjoy the
week's Week six action. Great to talk to you again, Thanks, Man,
appreciate it. He's Carry Rhodes. I'm Dan byer Manzi Blanos
has the latest for us here on Fox Sports Red
Zone Radio, as we are live from the TIREC dot
(01:02:59):
Com studios. Monsey, what do I got?
Speaker 5 (01:03:02):
A lot was going on in this Jets game, guys.
I was trying to keep up. I'm sorry, Carrie.
Speaker 6 (01:03:08):
Two penalties all over the place. Unnecessary roughness, right, Ryan?
Is that what happened with the Jets? So it pushed
them all the way back when they had.
Speaker 12 (01:03:16):
A good run.
Speaker 6 (01:03:16):
Garrett Wilson seems to have had a good run.
Speaker 5 (01:03:18):
Pushed them all the way back.
Speaker 6 (01:03:20):
Breese Hall, did you know, carry the ball getting them
closer to field goal range. I don't know if they're
going to go for it or not, but that was rough, man.
Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
So they called the person the foul or the illegal
the illegal block, illegal block, which was terrible.
Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
I mean, we're at the ten yard line, were back
up at midfield's.
Speaker 5 (01:03:37):
That was rough.
Speaker 6 (01:03:37):
That was rough to see but you know there, it's
still fourteen to nine halfway through the third quarter.
Speaker 5 (01:03:43):
Philadelphia up.
Speaker 6 (01:03:44):
So we'll see if you're right that the Jets can
pull this one off. I'm rooting for the Jets here,
so I'm hoping they can pull it off.
Speaker 5 (01:03:51):
Guys, guess who's back back again. Cooper's back all.
Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
New sunshine here at so Fin Stadium.
Speaker 10 (01:03:57):
It's a quick snap, third down and nine to the.
Speaker 1 (01:04:00):
Pylon and it's cut touchdown Cooper Cup He's.
Speaker 5 (01:04:05):
Back RAMS Radio Network.
Speaker 6 (01:04:06):
They're beating the Cardinal sixteen to nine. Less than three
minutes to go in the third quarter. Raiders no longer
have Jimmy Garoppolo. He is out with a back injury.
He was seen taken to a hospital. So Brian Hoyer
is in and they are beating the Patriots nineteen to ten.
Speaker 5 (01:04:20):
Early in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 6 (01:04:21):
The Lions have scored some more seventeen to six over
the Buccaneers in Tampa. About three minutes to go in
the third quarter, and we do have some baseball starting soon, guys.
It's game one of the ALCS between the Rangers and
the Astros. The Rangers officially added pitcher Max Scherzer to
their roster. He's not pitching today, or at least he's
not starting, and first pitch is set for eight fifteen
(01:04:43):
pm Eastern Time. And then in the WNBA Finals, the
Vegas Aces had a chance to seal it, win it,
and they lost to the New York Liberty, so the
Liberties stay alive. In the best of five series, Liberty
wins eighty seven to seventy three, but the Aces still
lead the series to one, so Liberty stays alive.
Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
Back to you, guys, that was the matchup that everybody
wanted to see, unlike Major League Baseball, where the matchups
that you thought you wanted to see, none of which
came to fruition. No offense Rangers or Astros or Phillies
or Diamondbacks.
Speaker 5 (01:05:17):
Right, that's just not what we were hoping for.
Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
But and I know me saying no offense completely offended them. Yes,
I just saw the tweet right now. How about this?
Matt agreed with with Bart saying that he felt that
Cleveland was the story today. I think Cleveland's a really
good story. I really do. And I've said on this
program that I Jim Schwartz's defense. You talked about it, Carrie,
(01:05:40):
You know top in the NFL. That is there that
two games in back to back weeks, believe they held
you know teams to three points or two out of
the first three of the season. They kept the Niners
in check. Today made Rock Purty look completely average. I
get that there will be a time and place to
talk about the Cleveland Browns. It's just I know they
knocked off the forty nine ers, but the forty nine
ers losing is more of the story than the Browns
(01:06:02):
winning today. Because the sorry Luca just add this, because
the Browns that won today aren't the Browns that we
think they're gonna need to be for the rest of
the season. And that's gonna be with Deshaun Watson there.
Speaker 2 (01:06:15):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, I mean I think I think
in this game there are two stories and that that
can be true as well. And I think, yes, San
Francisco has been the toest of the town. Everybody's saying there,
I mean, I saw some pun didn't say and they
could be seventeen and oh when all these you know, ridiculous,
ridiculous claims, that's just not going to happen. More times
than not, you're gonna lose a game, so you know
(01:06:36):
they lost theirs early here and now they got a
chance to reset. But yeah, I think with Cleveland, just
their intensity and their physicality, I think that's who there,
that's that's their ident that's their identity. And so to
see that kind of stack up and play out the
way that it could have, it was it was a
good story.
Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
It's there's a story with the Bears with Justin Fields,
and to Matt's point is they're gonna have a top
pick and they're very likely going to move on. I
just felt it was it was interesting and Tyson Bagent
came in and where there's there's even a highlight on
his touchdown, and I mean, Jeff Joniaki does the Bears
game is going nuts. It's also all we found out
(01:07:13):
how Bagent's last name was pronounced. It was pretty pretty awesome.
But there felt to be this this sense of excitement.
And the reason I bring it up is I think
that the problem with Justin Fields is is you have
this you have this orange and you're squeezing it thinking
(01:07:34):
that it is full of juice and all of this
good stuff and it's just dripping and then there's a
little bit comes out at some point and then it
starts dripping again, and that's all that you're getting out
of it. Because he is so uberly talented. He has
the you know, the speed, the size, everything with it,
(01:07:56):
and it's just not coming out. And I think that
when you gets a player in there that does anything
that is you know, remotely different or good, that then
it sheds a poor light on Justin Fields, and it's unfortunate.
But I think Matt's point is well taken that it
(01:08:16):
almost doesn't matter anymore because the decision has been made
that they're going to move on.
Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
Yeah, the results. We live in a result world in general,
but in the NFL, it is a result driven business, right,
and so if you get somebody that comes in and
produces a steady amount of positivity, which you know in
that game, you know, the backup quarterback came in and
scored points and then you see that happen. So obviously
(01:08:43):
the the the talk around that can happen with Justin Fields.
I haven't seen him put together enough games to say
he's the guy anyway. Like you said, he has the
plays where he jumps off the screen and it looks
really really good, but for the most part, it's not good.
Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
And so you've got to move on. You are to
that point you wanted to see a Josh Allen sort
of push from him, but you did not get it.
This is what's happening in the NFL. The Jets have
forced a punt to the Eagles, so it's still fourteen
to nine, five point thirty eight left to go in
the third quarter, so the Eagles will punt it back
to the Jets, and the Eagles punting out of their
(01:09:20):
own end zone, so the Jets should get pretty decent
field position, but again they've been unable to cash in.
And now we're gonna have some catch interference and that's
why carry us clapping. Sorry Eagles fans, he has a
former Jet. I'm sorry, guys. And now we've got a
play in the Rams Cardinals game where the Cardinals up,
(01:09:41):
excuse me, down seven to the Rams, who kicked in
a field goal a little while ago. Rams are now
driving and in the red zone. So nearing the end
of the third quarter, we got field goals and may
get another touchdown in that contest. So Josh Dobbs and
the Cardinals moving for LA and as they just showed
a highlight of a run of Kyraen Williams, who had
his helmet come off, but his mouth guard stayed in
(01:10:04):
crazy as the helmet is dangling from the mouth of
Kyen Williams. The Raiders are up nineteen to ten on
the Patriots that game. In the fourth quarter, eight forty
nine left to go, Patriots down nine, facing an important
third and six right now from the raiders forty two
yard line, gonna need to get at least a couple
of yards to get in the field goal range. A
(01:10:26):
first down would really help to keep their hopes alive,
and their third down pass falls incomplete as he was
looking to connect with Mikeasicki. There is laundry on the field,
so that may save the Patriots. One other point from
the Vikings Bears game today that is not Bears related,
it's Vikings related. Adam Scheffer reported that Kirk Cousins is
(01:10:46):
not likely to waive his no trade clause and going
to stick with Minnesota for the rest of the season.
They're two to four Cousins today against the bad Bears
defense went twenty one to thirty one, one hundred and
eighty one yards in a touchdown. He and TJ. Howkinson
in kg Osbourne trying to pick up the slack for
the lack of Justin Jefferson. Are you surprised that the
report said kirk Cousins is not likely to waive that
(01:11:09):
no trade clause and wants to stay in Minnesota the
rest of the year.
Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
I'm not surprised. He's found the home. His family's found
a home. And you can tell how how I mean,
especially watching a quarterback show on Netflix, how you know
how much of a family man he is. And I
can see the security. Having the security and having a
place where he can actually call home is very important
to him. So I could see him doing that and
it makes sense to me.
Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
I you know, It's it's funny because I think that
if kirk Cousins went somewhere and the Jets were the
obvious team that everybody pointed out, but there would be
a way where you entirely changed the narrative of your career.
Yes where where if he were to lead that team
and if they if they don't do it, I don't
know how much it would have changed if if you were,
(01:11:55):
let's say, to go to the Jets and they don't
make the playoffs or they end up going to the playoffs,
but get ousted early. But it does give you an
opportunity to maybe make that Cinderella run. But to your point,
I think it's spot on that it's that may not
be the most important thing for Kirk Cousins in his mind.
We saw him go to the Twins playoff game with
(01:12:15):
his family, you know, a week ago and just buying
ordinary tickets. And his future may not be in Minnesota,
but it's not worth it for him to just uproot
things right now for three months and go elsewhere.
Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
And then the possibility of him going to say it
was the Jets, right, it wouldn't be past this year's
coming back, so it wouldn't really it doesn't really benefit
him at all.
Speaker 1 (01:12:37):
Jets driving now inside the red zone. A first and
ten for the Jets, so they moved the football. They
got some yardage on a catch interference on the punt,
so the Jets now driving down five the Patriots. That
laundry was on the Raiders, so it gave them a
fresh set of downs and then now just convert to
the third and eight is mac Jones at Kendrick Bourne.
(01:12:58):
So six forty eight left in that game and counting
in Las Vegas, the Patriots down nine, are driving and
inside the Raiders a twenty five yard line and the Rams,
I believe, just forced a turnover on the Cardinals, who
again were knocking on the door. Looks like this one
was in an interception or a fumble by zach Ertz.
(01:13:20):
They showed Ertz on the on the screen so I would.
Speaker 11 (01:13:23):
Hit it off of Ertz's hands.
Speaker 1 (01:13:26):
We have a deflection right off of the fingertips of
zach Ertz and the Rams end up getting the turnover,
so keeping Arizona out of the end zone. Up seven
in that contest. He's carrier oads. I'm Dan Bierria live
from the Tirek dot Com studios, and the Lions continue
to leave the Buccaneers seventeen to six in that matchup
at the end of the third quarter. Coming up next
(01:13:48):
to look at your fantasy numbers some of the hotter
players and not so hot from these late games. That's
next year on Fox Sports Radio. Guess what another field
goal in New York Eagles have pulled with the excuse me,
the Jets have pulled it in two of the Eagles
fourteen to twelve. In my excitement, I can't even get
the score right. He's Carrier Roads, I'm Dan Byer. It's
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. So the Eagles holding on
(01:14:10):
to a two point lead, keeping the Jets out of
the end zone. The Patriots right now are going to
be facing a third and goal and they are down
nine to the Raiders with three point thirty six left
to go. We have a roughing the passer penalty on
third and goal. It would have been fourth and goal.
Max Crosby nailed for roughing Mac Jones. So now the
(01:14:32):
Patriots get a fresh set of downs. They should be
around the five yard line and down nine, so this
game is not over with by any means, and only
a nine point edge, so a touchdown, an extra point
and field goal would beat the Raiders if the Patriots
can get to that point. New England does have all
three of their timeouts, but again three thirty six left
(01:14:54):
to go, it's nineteen to ten in favor of Las Vegas.
Now they got it first and goal at the two
yard line. Rams are up sixteen to nine on the Cardinals,
ten forty four left to go. The Patriots have just
cashed it in Romandre Stevenson with a two yard touchdown run.
So now it's nineteen to sixteen extra point coming up,
(01:15:15):
and the Lions continue to lead at Tampa. Despite how
great the Buccaneers look in those creamsicles, Unfortunately, it's the
result that they usually get when they wore those creamsickles.
Twenty to six Lions on top of Tampa, twelve minutes
to go in that game in Florida. That's where we
are in the late window. Hit carry Rhoades up at
(01:15:35):
Carrie twenty five Roads. You can find me at Dan
Byer on Fox. Let's get our fantasy numbers from Ryan
pershing our executive producer. Some of our hits and misses
from week six.
Speaker 10 (01:15:45):
Go for fantasy heads.
Speaker 1 (01:15:48):
And missing. Jared, you play fantasy football? I don't play you. No,
you don't you play the game. Yeah, guys like me
and Pershinger and Monsey have to win. Chris Purfett have
to play it all right, Bursch, what do you got?
Speaker 11 (01:16:02):
Well, let's take a look at these four afternoon games here.
Jared Goff as your leading quarterback from the late window
here twenty four to thirty seven, passing for three h
nine and two touchdowns through the air. Your top scoring
running back from these games, Ramandre Stevenson ten rushes forty
six yards and a touchdown on the ground, also has
four catches on five targets for eighteen yards. Your top
(01:16:23):
scoring receiver from these games is Cooper Cup. He is
back seven catches on nine targets for one hundred and
forty eight yards and a touchdown. And your top scoring
tight end for good measures Michael Mayer five catches for
seventy five yards. Good good job, Michael. Looking at some
misses here from these late games. Baker mayfield eleven of
twenty two for one hundred and twenty eight yards and
(01:16:43):
an interception. He's got six rushing yards for good measure.
David Montgomery, Yes, did leave the game with an injury
before that. Six rushes for fourteen yards on the ground,
one catch for nineteen yards, and he will not be
coming back in this one. DeVante Smith, you think would
be doing more against a banged up Jets secondary. Three
catches on six targets form only twenty yards thus far,
(01:17:05):
and zach Ertz has as many Fantasy points as all
of us combined. Right now he has zero catches on
two targets.
Speaker 1 (01:17:11):
Does he get any negative points? So that deflection that
turned into the no, actually a drop or something that.
Speaker 11 (01:17:19):
Just goes to Josh Dobbs, so it goes to me
instead of Zach, So thank a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
It's funny carry because in the world of fantasy football
and everybody, everybody uh has their own stories and nobody
wants to hear about anybody's other team. But when Ryan
Berschinger gets excited, I know Josh Dobbs did something, so
there is he is a Josh Dobbs fantasy player. Kyen Williams,
(01:17:46):
by the way, just had one heck of an effort
to get about a half yard short of the goal lide.
He's like, please give it to me. I just carried
three guys into the end zone. I know I may
not have gotten in there. Here's the discuss. They're going
to take a look at it, but the Rams trying
to at least put the Cardinals away. Up sixteen to
(01:18:08):
nine with eight point fifteen left to go, the Eagles
have the ball nearing midfield, up to on the Jets
as they start the fourth quarter. What do you think
did Kiren Williams get in?
Speaker 8 (01:18:19):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
I's a touchdown?
Speaker 6 (01:18:20):
It is?
Speaker 1 (01:18:21):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. I don't know what they're
calling here. I mean, I don't know. And this is
the tricky part about it. Like everybody says, let's just
call it a touchdown so they can review it. That
seems great on the surface, and I normally would agree,
but we have had seen times where that call on
the field carries so much more weight. Yes, and so
(01:18:45):
if you didn't see the touchdown, I don't know like
how you can call it. And this after the discussion
from the officials, does appear Williams did get in. They
didn't even need to review it, and now they will
because they didn't call it a touchdown on the field,
but that should be a touchdown. And the Rams kind
of putting the Cardinals out of reach. As for what
(01:19:05):
is happening in Las Vegas, the Raiders, we told you
New England has all three other timeouts, two fifty three
to go. It's a two point game and the Raiders
have a third and eight. They need to convert. No,
Jimmy Garoppolo, Brian Hoyer is in the game, and now
we're going to have a flag on the play that
is likely to keep the Raiders drive alive. You saw
(01:19:26):
it as a form of defensive back. I think you
got we got holding pass interference on New England. That
was pretty pretty obvious.
Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
That was definitely a penalty. This game shouldn't even be
close either. The Raiders should be out of the water
in this game already, but they put themselves in a
bad situation here with some penalties late.
Speaker 1 (01:19:46):
But you know, hopefully they can get it done. Raiders
could have had a turnover. Spling could have had his
third interception in less than a week, but it went
through his hands on the previous drive to allow the
Patriots to continue their drive and score a fresh set
of downs. New England, though, does have all three timeouts.
There is the two minute warning, so the Raiders are
going to have to do something with this football if
(01:20:06):
they're going to want to keep it away from the
Patriots offense. He's carry roads. I'm Dan Beyer. All these
games coming down to the wire will bring the conclusions
to you next here on Red Zone Radio on Fox
Football Sunday.
Speaker 10 (01:20:20):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (01:20:34):
And down the stretch we go with these final four
games of the late window in Week six, Cardinals have
the football, but they're down fourteen as you heard Monsi say,
twenty three to nine, and it looks like the Rams
may have just forced the Josh Dobbs turnover. Lions just
trying to get a first down to continue to run
out the clock against the Buccaneers. So we're focused on
(01:20:56):
Las Vegas and we're focused on New York. That's where
the two games are hanging in the balance. Carrie's former team,
the Jets, in a tight one against the Eagles, and
the Raiders have a two point lead on New England. Patriots,
though needing to get a big play. They almost got
one to Devonte Parker, but it went out of his
hands near the fifty yard line. They are backed up.
(01:21:19):
They are backed up inside their own fifteen yard line.
New England, though, only has to get into field goal
range for an attempt as they are down too. We
are broadcasting love from the tierraq dot com studios. Tyraq
dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection,
fast free shipping, Free road has a protection and over
ten thousand recommended installers. Tiraq dot com the way tire
buying should be. So you got a third and twelve
(01:21:41):
carry a minute fifty two. You've used all of your
timeouts in this game, so New England doesn't have any timeouts,
but you are on your own eight yard line. Is
this an opportunity? You get six yards? Do you try
to get the full twelve? What do you do if
you're New England?
Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
Oh yeah, this is you got to go for all
of it. I mean you got two down to get it,
so you don't have to get it back on one play.
But they got to get it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:04):
They got to get it all right now and try
to keep this drive moving really backed up.
Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
But yeah, they don't have to go to the whole field.
They just need to get into field goal range. So yeah,
this is this is it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:16):
The delay of game penalty on the safety is what happened.
The delay of game is also going to back them
up four yards because it's a half the distance penalty.
So now it's going to be third and sixteen. They're
calling it fifteen, but they've got to get to the
nineteen and the ball is basically on the three yard line,
(01:22:37):
so it's about a third and sixteen for New England
and now it's just the safety. Still got the safety,
They still got the safety and Mac Jones can't take
that safety under heavy, heavy pressure. This what this does
allow at least no it it's pretty much over with.
(01:23:00):
The only saving grace for New England would be that
they can get a free kick and can try to
do an on side because of the safety. But now
you would need a touchdown to win the game as
opposed to the field goal.
Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
Well, Dan, you know what, I feel really good about
this because I was really sweating and I was hoping
that the safety would happen. But I was trying to
stay you know, unbiased.
Speaker 13 (01:23:22):
You.
Speaker 1 (01:23:23):
But I took the Raiders minus three, so that helps me.
I was gonna say, I thought the number was around
three and a half and we can maybe get You
got him at minus three. Good for you, Yes, I do. Oh,
we'll have to take a look at when that line
closed third and six for the Eagles. They've turned it
over three times to the Jets today, but they still
(01:23:44):
have a fourteen to twelve lead. They are at their
own twenty two yard line and aj Brown appears to
have been just made an acrobatic catch near midfield. God again,
the Jets are down DJ Reid and Sauce Gardner today
so they're but the Eagles really haven't taken advantage of
the absence of the top two corners for the Jets
(01:24:06):
until that play there with AJ Brown.
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
Yeah, the Jets have done a great job today of
getting pressure on I don't think that's the catch, but
getting pressure on Jalen Hurts. And yeah, they're not just
about their corners. The corners are great, obviously, and it
makes a world of difference to have guys that can
shut down outside receivers. But yeah, the defenses played well today.
(01:24:29):
I think the pass rush has really given Hurts a
problem today. To your point, the Raiders were minus three
some books had them at minus two and a half,
so that safety was a really, really big deal, a
really big deal the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (01:24:49):
They just the Raiders have just recovered the on side kick.
So now Brian Hoyer again in for the injured Jimmy Garoppolo,
will have to take And to your point, the Jets
are now challenging the AJ Brown catch that would have
them set up in a midfield situation. There's eleven minutes
(01:25:11):
left in a lot of time. Yes, different scenarios for
what we have in LA and what we have in Tampa.
The Buccaneers are down fourteen. They've got the football back,
but they're going to need to go ninety eight yards
and score twice in this game when there's only four
minutes to go. Tampa does have two timeouts, but it's
been all Lions today. And thought that I thought that
(01:25:31):
there were two games today, Carrie, that we had really
good teams playing against each other, and I'm not going
to make a drastic decision on the outcome of those games,
and that was Seattle and Cincinnati and Tampa in Detroit,
and I am actually going to go back on that.
Like I think the way that Detroit has won this game,
(01:25:52):
I don't think Tampa's world beaters, but I think Tampa's
got They still have a legitimate defense. Baker Mayfield's played well,
They've got some weapons. It may not be as dangerous
as they were when Tom Brady was their quarterback, but
I still think that they can move the ball. The
Lions going to do this against another competitor in that conference.
Very impressive to hold this Tampa team to six points
(01:26:16):
and be able to make their hay against what I
feel is a you know, a stingy defense that you've
got in Tampa.
Speaker 2 (01:26:21):
Yeah, the Lions have been probably the most impressive team
to me this year so far. Obviously a lot of
talk has been that they were going to take take
a leap and be a better team, but the quality
of wins that Detroit has had and plan on the
road and plan in tough environments the way they have
has been really impressive. So I've been I'm really high
on Detroit and just their mentality as a team. They're
(01:26:43):
definitely taking the approach of their head coach Dan Campbell,
and it's been awesome to see.
Speaker 1 (01:26:48):
You know, it's would you say if you had the
Eagles and the forty nine ers, are the Lions the
third best team in the NFL? See Seattle beat them?
Sales now got two losses after today, But would you
say that, where would you put the Lions in terms
of the NFC?
Speaker 11 (01:27:08):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:27:08):
Yeah, detO is definitely they could be second third, right,
I would say second third, you know, like they could
go to Philadelphia and beat the Eagles. Yes, they could
go to San Francisco and beat the Niners. How they
played ten times, the Niners may win six of those, yes,
but yeah, to that to that point, that's how I
think you end up determining it they can win in
(01:27:28):
you know, anywhere. And it's funny as well because their
defense at the first part of last year and they
weren't doing much in the first part of last year.
They'd go on that long run two which is carried
over into this season, but their defense got much better
at the end of the of the season. They've been
for the most part, really good so far this season
(01:27:51):
and now to do this today very impressive.
Speaker 2 (01:27:53):
Yeah, they had to come to come to Jesus moment
last year with with the defrom the coordinator, they and
Dan Campbell, Yeah, you know Ray right, Aaron Glenn Aaron Glynn, Yes, yes,
and Aaron Glenn was really being aggressive and putting those
guys on an island to start last year and they
were getting gashed a lot. And so just the mentality
(01:28:14):
and the approach to what they wanted to do scheme wise,
would it being you know, fitting the identity of Dan
Campbell's and you know, changing some things up, insuring some
things up on that side of the ball has really
made them a contender because offensively they were good last
year as well.
Speaker 1 (01:28:28):
The Rams kicked a field goal after that Josh Dobbs
turnover so it's twenty six to nine that with four
minutes to go. The Buccaneers did convert a fourth and
four here, but again, there's only two minutes left in
this game, and Tampa has not been able to move
anything downfield except just short stuff. Detroit's keeping everything in
front of them, so Tampa's going to really need to
(01:28:48):
do work if they want to get back in it.
And it's over in Las Vegas. Raiders recovered that on
set kick. Again, the Patriots didn't have any more timeouts,
so the Raiders took a knee and they leave with
a victory. New England. Right now, one in five to
start the season, it is not good. And when you
look at the landscape of the National Football League, the
(01:29:10):
Giants are one and four, the Bears are one and five,
the Broncos are one and five, the Panthers are zero
to six, and the Cardinals are one and five. Didn't
I thought the Patriots would be better? In no way
did I ever think that we would have that conversation,
that we would be talking about them in the conversation
of those teams. But that's where we are now. That
catch by AJ Brown upheld by replay, so the Jets
(01:29:35):
unable to get that stop, and the Eagles takeover now
in Jets territory at the forty two yard line and
Jalen Hurts with a bit of a scramble to keep
things moving again. There's plenty of time in this game.
While the other games are winding down. There's still eleven
minutes left in the contest between these squads, now under
the eleven minute mark, so a lot of times the
Jets can get a stop here, I at least hold
(01:29:57):
them to a field goal. Jets could have an opportunity.
The problem is is Philadelphia is just keeping them out
of the end zone and of any threat to score today.
That's why the Jets have gotten all their points on
the leg of Greg Sirlin, who's kicked four field goals
so far for New York. So the Eagles are driving
and the Cardinal is just looking to add some points.
And again two minute warning. In Tampa, Buccaneers trail the
(01:30:18):
Lions twenty to sixteen. He's carry roads. I'm Dan Bierria
Alive from the tirereq dot Com Studios. Giants are going
to be short handed tonight, but Saquon Barkley is active.
Buffalo will not have Dalton Kincaid available tonight. Dawson Knox
is active if you need to know that information for
your fantasy lineup. And a big one tomorrow between the
Cowboys and Chargers. But we still got to wrap up
(01:30:39):
this bad boy in New York. We're going to talk
about all of it here on Fox Football Sunday. He
hit Carry up at Carry twenty five roads. You can
find me at dan Byer on Fox. It's all next
here on Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Red Zone Radio.
He's Carry Rhoads. I'm Dan Byer. We've got one game
(01:31:00):
still in the balance. Two finals lines have beating the Buccaneers.
That's over. Twenty to six is the final. The Raiders
top the Patriots. And if you took the Raiders at
minus two and a half or minus three, like the
guy next to me did, you are a happy man
here here up to up to nineteen to seventeen. The
(01:31:21):
Raiders sack Mac Jones for a safety, essentially ending the
game and putting all the Raiders betters into a much
better mood. You don't get that safety, you don't cover,
and the Patriots may lose the game, but they do
only lose by two and instead, the safety saves the day. Dan.
Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
Just the gamut that happens with your emotions watching these games.
When you put a little you put wager. It's not good.
Speaker 1 (01:31:52):
For your health. It's funny because gambling and bats and
picks have become so prevalent. By the way two minute
warning rams up twenty six to nine on the Cardinals.
The Eagles have the football fourteen to twelve on the Jets,
four minutes to go first and ten from their own
thirty one yard line. Jets have two timeouts, obviously the
two minute warning, but a couple of more first downs
(01:32:13):
for the Eagles, and this one is over. When we
last spoke, Jake Elliott was lining up for a field
goal to extend the Eagles lead, but the usually reliable
kicker missed from thirty seven yards out. Jets, though, could
not do anything with the football, so they punted it
back to Philadelphia and that's where the game stands of
fourteen to twelve, with now under four minutes to go
(01:32:34):
in the fourth quarter. Again, Jets have two timeouts and
the two minute warning, so Philadelphia is going to have
to get gonna have to move the sticks a couple
of times if they want to milk this clock. The
point we make about these spreads and lines is you
know you would have you know, you would have al Michaels,
you would have Brent Musburger back in the day making
references to the Lions because it was always taboo and
(01:32:56):
the keeping of the interest. You know, the NFL realized
I was a big fantasy football player played since the
early nineties, Like I remember when Troy Akman and Thurman
Thomas were in my fantasy lineups as a kid. So
it's been that far back, but it used to be
so taboo, and it's funny now on how everybody has
(01:33:17):
embraced it. But the reason why the NFL has embraced
it so much is to what you say, is all
these games now mean something. And I remember a time
when NFL dot Com it was it was like pulling
nails trying to find where you could get fantasy information. Now,
in big bold letters next to everything on NFL dot
Com you find your fantasy football stuff. So it's whether
(01:33:40):
it's betting on games with the lines, or making parlays
or you know, whatever daily fantasy you want to play,
or just straight up picking the games like you did.
Now there is so much in investing into that and
into fantasy. But it wasn't like that twenty five years ago.
It was completely different. A seat now is on the
(01:34:01):
same lines as you would get your scores and standings
for NFL dot Com. It's it's crazy. I just don't
know how much. But it's all been good for the
league because it keeps it keeps you interested in a
Patriots Raiders game, right that may not have been an
interest to you if you had no dog in the fight.
Speaker 2 (01:34:18):
I mean, Dan, we have whole segments here at Fox
that are dedicated yes to the bets, right, So it's
a big thing. And like you said, it keeps people
engaged on all the games across the league, and it's
it's just yeah, it's it's been fun. And it's for me.
I'm actually late to the party too because I'm I'm
not a gambler and so you know, me being in
(01:34:39):
the business now and really being locked in on trying
to ah, they got the first locked into these games.
As we move on, it's it's it's been fun. I
can't lie it's been. It's been something that's really caught
my attention as we move forward here.
Speaker 1 (01:34:54):
That grum came after a third and seven completion by
Jalen Hurts. I believe it was to Dallas Goddart gets
them near midfield, but most importantly keeps the clock going
and the sticks moving in Philadelphia's favor. Again, the Eagles
just up too in this game. But now the Jets
(01:35:15):
are going to have to use their time out. Philadelphia
still gonna need to get one more first down year
two twenty four to go. Jets have one time out
and again the two minute warning. But realistically, and I
know that you've been very, very positive in Zach Wilson's
(01:35:35):
play so far. Even if you're Philadelphia in this situation,
I would trust my defense in punting it back to
the Jets if I had to, because of Zach Wilson
being there. And the reason I'm saying that is I
just I don't expect them. They needed to convert the
third and seven. Jalen Hurts put the ball in his hand,
(01:35:56):
he threw it to Dallas Goddart. Awesome. I would just
hand it off. I would just hand it off every
single time. Now if I'm Philadelphia, first second and third down,
make him use their final time out, run as much
time off the clock. As you can. I am not
putting anything in harm's way because there was some pressure
on Jalen Hurts on that last ye seven. Yeah, he
(01:36:18):
sensed it was able to get the ball away. But
you don't want to play with fire, especially in a
game where you've already turned it over three times today.
Speaker 2 (01:36:24):
Yeah, Brandon, don't say that, because now you're gonna make
me really sad. You said he was off sides, but yeah,
I think. Yeah, if you're Philly here, you feel good
about where you are right now, you want to run
these run the ball on two more times and waste
as much time as you can. I don't know if you,
like you said, try to throw the ball again to
get a first down here, but I'm sure you know
with Philly they're usually aggressive. So even if it's third
(01:36:47):
and five or four, they'll use a quarterback to also
run here as well, So you got to be they'll
they'll try to be aggressive to try to win the game.
They won't just sit on it to you know, it
doesn't matter who the quarterback here is. They are an
aggressive team. So I see them being aggressive.
Speaker 1 (01:37:04):
Third down and ten. But again, now that's the two
minute warning Jets have used their last timeout, So this
is the play as for the Cardinals and Rams sort
of thing. Twenty six to nine is the score first
and ten for the Cardinals. They get into Rams territory
at about the thirty five yard line. I'm gonna check
(01:37:24):
the other number on this. That probably has some people
interested because the lines that we've got. If there is
a certain over undertotal if not Brandon, if you can
check what the over under was of the Rams Cardinals
entering this game, that would be super awesome. But that
can also be of interest to people in that contest
(01:37:45):
because if the Cardinals get a light touchdown, it's eight
seconds left, they don't seem to be in urgent in
urgent time to move the football. But over under was
forty seven and a half, so it doesn't matter it's
thirty five. You would need a miracle so that one's
gonna hit the under as well. It's also weird to
actually talk about it hitting the over and under because
(01:38:07):
it was so taboo for so long. It was so
taboo you had to talk in like code words, and
that's that's what al Michaels and that's what Brent Musburger
and others would do in talking about that. Now you
can just say, all right, it's gonna end up hitting
the under. It's not gonna matter. But Rams are gonna
cover in that game. They were a touchdown favorite anyway,
and as we just saw that, they heard we are
(01:38:29):
going to hit the under in that contest. Yeah, Dan,
it's it's it's crazy.
Speaker 10 (01:38:32):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:38:32):
You'll see these games and you hear the announcers saying yep,
and the only thing that's in the balance now is
the over and on I'm like.
Speaker 1 (01:38:39):
What they're talking about, Parlays, they're talking about, Yeah, who
they're stacking in their daily fantasy, the daily fantasy stuff.
So that's what we've got. We've also got Giants and
Bills tonight. There's no Daniel Jones for New York. Yeah.
The good news is Darren Waller's gonna play for the
Giants and Saquon Barkley is active. Of My question, Carrie,
(01:39:03):
I don't think Torod Taylor is a better quarterback than
Daniel Jones, but he may be better in this certain spot. Yes,
how do you think the Giants fair with the quarterback changes?
Jones is out because of that neck year.
Speaker 2 (01:39:16):
Correct, I mean right now, the way that the Giants
offensive line is protecting. I mean, Daniel Jones is a
sitting duck and even though he's athletic enough to you know,
move around some, Tyrod Taylor is probably a better better
at that than he is. So to have him there,
Tyrod can make play as you can throw the ball
as well. He's he probably gives him a really good
(01:39:36):
chance to be in this game a little bit here.
But I obviously seeing Buffalo win and probably win by
a couple of scores. But yeah, I mean it'll be
it'll be a good situation for Tyrod.
Speaker 1 (01:39:47):
The they are back from the two minute warnings, so
the third nine. I got some thoughts on the Bills
with the night's game two as well. Then I'm want
to get your thoughts on because it's a rematch of
Super Bowl twenty five, which they aired the other day
on the NFL Network. It's uh Bill's Giants, the one
for the Bills that got away. But yes, yeah, third
and nine for the Eagles.
Speaker 12 (01:40:11):
Car this is this is what I'm told you, this
is what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (01:40:17):
Mathia, I told you this is what.
Speaker 12 (01:40:19):
I'm talking about. I don't know why you would throw.
I told her'd be aggressive, though Dan I need. That's
the Eagles. That's stupid, dumb. Why would you throw the football?
The Jets have no timeouts. This is Nick Sirianni's problem,
Like like this is like I mean, like, my goodness,
(01:40:41):
you don't need to get a first down. Your your
your defense has kept them on the end zone all day.
If you think Zach Wilson is going to go.
Speaker 1 (01:40:48):
Seventy yards on you exactly and and score a touchdown
in a minute, what was he throwing that to. I
have no idea. I didn't even think that this was
a possibility that they would throw the football. But Jalen
Hurts just intercepted, and now the Jets in the Eagles
have two timeouts here, so they get the football back.
(01:41:12):
The ball fat them store, of course, but they didn't
have to let them score. And Breece Hall is now
into the end zone. This is quick. Just take a
knee and run the clock and make them use their
timeout and kick a field goal. Yes, they're going to
go for two. They're going to go for two here.
(01:41:32):
Oh my god, I cannot I cannot fathom. I cannot
understand what is just gone on in these last okay
minute forty six left the Jets are now up eighteen
to fourteen following the Jalen Hurts interception on the third
and nine. And and here's my problem with it. And
(01:41:56):
and aside from just throwing the football again, there's a minute.
It was the two minute warning. You have forty seconds
that you run off the play clock just for running
that play. Two point conversion is good, Zach Wilson to
Randall Cobb twenty to fourteen. Now, now what you've done.
(01:42:19):
The Jets score on the Breashall touchdown run. This is
where again the Eagles messed up. You have two timeouts.
There's a minute fifty left in this game. You call
two timeouts, you run down the clock, you get a stop,
and guess what, Carrie, there's a minute left in the
game for you to go and kick a field goal.
(01:42:40):
Like that's all that you would need. Now you have
to go and score a touchdown because you just decided
to let them score because you wanted forty more seconds
of game time. That doesn't make any sense that there
are times when you want to let a team score.
The Jets could not run out the clock in that scenario.
(01:43:01):
They could not know they had two timeouts left. To
your point, priest Hall probably should have taken a knee
to let more time run off at that point and
then maybe try to quarterback sneak or do whatever you
needed to do in that scenario. But the Eagles did
not need to let the Jets score. And now a
field goal doesn't even save them. They need to score
a touchdown. And we think that the Eagles offense is good.
(01:43:23):
It is, but we've seen the Jets defense. That is
not a given. That's a that's a double down, dumb
play by the Eagles to not only throw the football
but then you let them score afterwards.
Speaker 2 (01:43:35):
Yeah, what we're just saying, Dan, I told you that
the Eagles on an aggressive team.
Speaker 10 (01:43:39):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:43:39):
They that's been their identity, you know, on the Sirianni
and so I knew they would try to get the
first down throwing the ball.
Speaker 1 (01:43:46):
There was definitely the wrong play. Yeah, there's there's a
difference between aggressive and dumb, and that was a dumb play. Yeah.
I don't know why you would throw the football. That's
not smart football. And maybe being too harsh and oh
you'll me to get personal, but it was it was
it was you're you're right, though, it was it was
done the mismanagement of as well of what you've got.
(01:44:07):
Just guy's fourteen to twelve. If you stop them, still
guarantee they're gonna score. And if they score them fine,
you didn't have to let them score. No, you still
got to make the kick as well. Yeah, and you'd
have a minute to go, and you get the ball
to the twenty five yard line, you only have to
go forty yards. Now you got to go seventy five yards.
Aj Brown passed to him is through his hands, almost
(01:44:29):
intercepted for the fifth turnover. Jalen hurts three interceptions on
the day. So this is this is where we stand
twenty to fourteen. I'll tell you what we're gonna do.
Are you? Are you? Are you? Is Mancey ready? Is she?
She's off the chain? And note she's with to be
right now. Okay, because we're gonna We're gonna bring you
(01:44:49):
home and Monty you can hang out with us. But
let's get an updates Carrier Roads. I'm Dan Bayer. We
are live from the entire RAQ dot com studios. Monty
Belanos is here watching like a team.
Speaker 6 (01:45:00):
So I don't know if anything else has happened in
sports right now besides this game.
Speaker 5 (01:45:04):
You guys, what a game. I'm with you.
Speaker 6 (01:45:07):
That throw Jalen Hurts threw it in between two Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:45:10):
Defenders and he didn't even throw at all, a kind
of like lof fitted over there, right, It wasn't even.
Speaker 5 (01:45:15):
Difficult for I don't know why he threw that.
Speaker 6 (01:45:18):
But three interceptions for Jalen Hurts in this game. Zach Wilson,
no interceptions. He has a higher passer rating then Jalen.
Speaker 5 (01:45:25):
Hurts in this game. What's left? A minute forty seconds?
Speaker 13 (01:45:28):
Ish?
Speaker 10 (01:45:29):
Is that?
Speaker 5 (01:45:29):
A minute? Thirty four seconds? One thirty four? Jets up
twenty till fourteen. Very exciting, guys. I need to use
the rest shoot, and I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:45:37):
Not even.
Speaker 10 (01:45:39):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:45:40):
I'm just like I can't.
Speaker 5 (01:45:42):
I can't.
Speaker 6 (01:45:42):
Okay, other stuff happened, Okay, how am I supposed to
do this update while watching?
Speaker 5 (01:45:46):
Okay, other games that have finished. That just wrapped up.
It was all lines against the Bucks. Twenty to six
was the final score.
Speaker 6 (01:45:52):
Jared Goff three hundred and fifty three yards and two
touchdowns in the air, Aman Ross Saint Brown twelve receptions,
one hundred and twenty four yards and one touchdown.
Speaker 5 (01:46:00):
Aiden Hutchinson.
Speaker 6 (01:46:01):
There's a picture online showed up to this game in
a step brother's shirt, but the step brothers were Jared
Goff and i'mon Rossain Brown.
Speaker 5 (01:46:11):
Oh nice, so good, so I love that, so so good.
Speaker 6 (01:46:14):
Rams cruise their way past the Cardinals. Twenty six to
nine was the final score. Cooper cups seven receptions, one
hundred and forty eight yards and one touchdown. Matthew Stafford
completed fifteen of twenty four two hundred and twenty six
yards and that one touchdown. Kyron Williams twenty carries one
hundred and fifty eight yards and a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:46:32):
Big, big game, Montie. I'm gonna just quick Introro. You
can keep the music playing, Lorena. It's all good. Fourth
and eight, minute twenty four. Here, let's hang out for
this play call that Eagles, by the way, had to
use one of their timeouts because they just ran a
five yard crossing route. They caught him two yards fourth
and eight, Dan, fourth and eight? Is this it? I
can't should I look? Look you have to. I think
(01:46:58):
you gotta go aj Brown on this scenario. He is
your guy here it is and final stop. Get off
the field. Boys, Oh he's.
Speaker 5 (01:47:06):
Going date hail Mary.
Speaker 1 (01:47:08):
In fact, another another bad decision. We know about another
bad creation, but that was an abd another bad decision
throwing at forty yards downfield and triple coverage and the
Jets are going to win and there are no longer
any unbeaten teams in the National Football League. The seventy
(01:47:31):
two Dolphins can now celebrate there will not be an
unbeaten team in the regular season in the National Football League.
Speaker 6 (01:47:40):
Oh wow, man, that was a That was a crazy
finish to this game the studio today, right, really for real?
Speaker 5 (01:47:47):
That was that was nicely done. The Raiders secured their
win after Max after a Max.
Speaker 6 (01:47:51):
Crosby safety, and then they beat the Patriots twenty one seventeen.
Jimmy Garoppolo did leave the game with the back injury.
Brian Horror was the one who played for the Raiders
in the end. But that's right, guys, no more undefeated
teams because earlier today the Browns handed the forty nine
Ers their first loss of the season.
Speaker 5 (01:48:06):
San Francisco had a.
Speaker 6 (01:48:07):
Chance to win, but kicker Jake Moody missed a forty
one yard field goal and then the Browns came out
on top nineteen to seventeen. But today football really It
started in London with the Ravens beating the Titans twenty
four to sixteen. Ryan Tannehill sustained an ankle injury. He
was on crutches. We'll do on MRI when they get
back to the States. The Bengals held on to beat
the Seahawks seventeen to thirteen. And what was really awesome
(01:48:30):
about this game is that rookie Andrey Seebosh.
Speaker 5 (01:48:34):
It doesn't look like that, but that's what it sounds like.
So yo see, Bosh caught his first career touchdown.
Speaker 6 (01:48:40):
And there's a video of Joe Burrow going to make
sure that he gets the ball and hands it to
the rookie. So good job, Joe Burrow. Commanders beat the
Falcons twenty four to sixteen. Vikings defeated the Bears nineteen
to thirteen. Justin Fields left the game with the right
hand injury, but X rays were negative. Jaguars outscored Jaguars,
and I said that funny outscored the Colts thirty.
Speaker 5 (01:48:58):
Seven to twenty.
Speaker 6 (01:49:00):
The Cardinals, Cardinals, listen, there's just words, okay that come out, bunny,
but you get it. Dolphins erased a fourteen point episode
and beat the Panthers forty two and twenty one. There's
no undefeated teams, but there's one winless team still left
and that's Carolina and six going on. Texans top the
Saints twenty to thirteen. That was the final score, and
(01:49:22):
we have Game one of the ALCS starting in about
forty five ish minutes or so between the Rangers and
the Astros. And the Rangers did put Max schers are
on their roster for this series.
Speaker 1 (01:49:33):
A lot, guys, you got that out.
Speaker 5 (01:49:34):
But what but what? What was the most important?
Speaker 1 (01:49:36):
The Jets, Baby Jets one. They just put a graphic
up and I didn't realize this. Don't say it. I
saw it too, Dan, don't say it. Don't say it, Dan,
Texas the first time the Jets have ever beaten the
Philadelphia It is is all time.
Speaker 5 (01:49:51):
What a special you know that.
Speaker 2 (01:49:53):
During your time, I didn't know that we lost to
him A couple of times. We lost to Donovan McNabb
and those guys, and during that.
Speaker 1 (01:49:59):
Stretch, and obviously they don't play every year because in
different conferences, so it's like once every four years with
the new schedule the way that it is. But yeah,
they were zero to twelve and now they get their
first win in a big way too, And I called
it you did you know Carrie did call it before
the game? He did? Yes, did you know that Nick
Sirianni was going to gift wrap that bad boy up
(01:50:20):
with a bow and ribbon and everything, because that was
malpractice on the part of the Philadelphia I mean, this
is insider information, but yes, he texted me last night
and said, this is what we're going to do. This
is the game plan, and that's what That's why I knew, Carrie, goodness,
we're gonna make awful decision after awful decision. You haven't
seen nothing. This is, I mean, what what an absolute mess? Yeah?
(01:50:44):
I mean that the city of Philadelphia has the Phillies
hosting Game one of the NLCS tomorrow. No one's going
to be talking about that game until afterwards, Like it
is all going to be about what transpired here against
the Jets. They like it was a complete they completely
handed it to New York completely.
Speaker 2 (01:51:05):
Yeah that they Yeah, this was a crazy game. I
mean Philadelphia obviously in the in the past two years
have been has been a team that doesn't give the
opposing team this many opportunities, So meaning turned the ball
over and today they turned it over a lot. And
as you can see that expression right there, it wasn't
good by.
Speaker 1 (01:51:24):
Showing showing Jalen Hurts doing the yeah, yes, MONTI great
job today, a New York Jets defend.
Speaker 6 (01:51:32):
Yes, I've been on the Jets train this all.
Speaker 1 (01:51:38):
They're not done that, they're going empire, They're going to
still make the playoffs. Let's go okay again, the Philadelphia
Eagles literally just gave them the win on so many
different levels. Man, One question, though, they're three and three
right now, what did you have them being at this point,
even with Aaron Rodgers here, Aaron Rodgers at the then
(01:52:00):
schedule that's what that tough schedule? Yeah, it was, it was.
It was tough. Yeah, probably around yeah, four and two,
three and three exactly in that scenario. It is. It
is true. It's actually a really good point by Carrie
that you bring that up because the NFL wanting to
take advantage of the Aaron Rodgers and a lot of
times you do this because you're afraid of an injury
(01:52:21):
when these matchups happened later on in the season. You
talk about the schedule, but it is it was a
marquee schedule. Bill's, Cowboys, Patriots, Chiefs, Broncos, Eagles, And I
know Bills and Patriots are divisional games that you're going
to play them twice. But we've seen a lot of
times where certain divisional games aren't played until week fifteen
and week seventeen of the season. They backload those. But
(01:52:42):
those are marquee teams. Those are marquee matchups. Now with
the Jets and what they've got, uh, they've got a
matchup with the Giants coming up after their bye week.
Jets have a bye next week. Then the Chargers, Raiders, Bills, Dolphins, Falcons, Texans.
By the way, Carrie, I have loved the Texans. I
said that they were a team he didn't want to
play in the second half of the season. Heck, they
(01:53:02):
even beat me that by about three or four weeks. Yeah,
that's gonna be a little bit tougher. But you know,
aside from their divisional games, they aren't as marquee and
now they could be winnable games. You had a game
against the Raiders that right now is a Sunday night
game in mid November, and the Raiders are sitting there
at three and three with those fan bases in that
market like for two weeks ago. As I got that
(01:53:23):
game is going to be flexed now, not necessarily sure
of it. All Right, He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Beyer.
I still don't know why the Eagles through the football,
by the way, because of the interception where it was thrown,
the yardage that they got on the interception return, Zach
Wilson had to do nothing. If he would have thrown
it like a jump ball scenario, Zach Wilson still would
(01:53:44):
have had to have done something with the football. That's
what makes the decision doubly embarrassing for Nick Sirianni and
the Eagles. And then to let them score like they did.
Heck didn't matter they ended up turning it on downs,
but they would have needed a to They would have
just needed a feel goal if you end up trying
to stop them instead of letting them score the touchdown. Right,
He's carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. Are Week six MVPs

to listen to the show because Carrie Rhodes at one
point said, yeah, the Jets would win this game, and
(01:58:29):
and someone took that the heart. You got a tweet
that someone placed the bet on the Jets as soon
as you said that, and what do you know, they
come out like gangbusters because the Jets pull off this
miraculous victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 2 (01:58:47):
Yeah, Angelo Booie said at Kiroro, thanks for the bet
and tip I live bet. That's when I heard you
say that that you thought the Jets would win during
the show today, che change he won the bet, Dan.
Speaker 1 (01:58:58):
And I will say this, this wasn't him being a homer.
He just says that Nick Sirianni cannot get out of
his own way. Those are my words, but that's basically
you're just saying that they are an aggressive team and
that they were going to be aggressive. And it came
back to buy.
Speaker 2 (01:59:11):
I knew it. I mean, that's his Mo. That's been
there Mo since he's been there. The fact that they
threw the ball there was just crazy. I thought they'd
do some kind of run action with Jalen Hurts or something.
But yeah, that was a bad look. It's bad as
well when.
Speaker 1 (01:59:26):
You have an opportunity to get a victory. And on
the same day that the forty nine ers also lost. Yeah,
and so now both of those games, by the way,
both of those losses by the Niners and the Eagles
came against AFC teams, so in the grand scheme of
things right now, that's not going to matter when those
two teams play each other later on in the season.
Now there's just not as much room for error because
(01:59:47):
now you have a Lions team that's sitting there with
just one loss on the season. They're going to be
in the mix as well. But yeah, the inability of
the Eagles to close it out again, it's just it's
their own fault in my mind. Just hand the ball off,
run it down, punt it away, and make Zach Wilson
drive you fifty yards for your field goal with a
minute left and no timeouts, and they chose not to
(02:00:08):
do so. Well. Dan, on the way out, I'm just
gonna say, jay E, Yes, Yes, who needs fireman ed
when you've got Carry Rhodes. I'm Dan Byer. That's Week
six in the NFL. Enjoy the baseball, Enjoy Johnson Bills.
We'll talk to you next week.
