Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
We're talking underdogs today. We are talking underdogs here on
a Fox Sports Sunday. Do you consume yourself an underdog
carry Roads?
Speaker 3 (00:11):
I would guess by the letter of the law, Yes,
fourth round pick, you don't expect much.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Sure, and then next thing you know, you're you're a
rookie team. Everybody considers themselves an underdog. Everybody you know,
everybody's an underdog. I think that you have a real story.
Who's the real underdog when it comes to what's happening
right now at Royal Troon and the Open Championship, you know,
that's where my focus is. I do, but we've got
so much to get to, including an underdog yesterday that
(00:37):
almost shocked the world in basketball and shocking Team USA
and so much more. We are broadcasting life from the
tire dot Com studios. Tirec dot Com will help you
get there an unmetch selection, fast free shipping, free road
as a protection. You know over ten thousand recommended installers.
Tirec dot com the way tire buying should be now
the official rule here For those that not know, maybe
(01:00):
you're tuning in for the first time. I was gone
the last two weeks, and so when I returned from vacation,
Carrie knows exactly where I'm going with this. Carrie, how
were the last two weeks without me? Man? It was awful?
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Man, it was excited for you to get back, that
is all. Yeah, the worst time again?
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Are you sure about that?
Speaker 2 (01:23):
My ongoing joke is when anybody returns, all they want
to hear is how awful it was without them, and
thank goodness that they are back. You and Jason Fitz
had a great time by time. Hey, thank goodness that
I'm back. Right, That's all that anybody wants to hear.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
I mean, this thing does not run without you, Dan,
It's I mean, you're such an integral part of this
and I missed your your wit, your banter, all of it.
It was just you were sorely missed. This is the
true story.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
When I carry because Carrie and I teamed up for
Tino and Rich on Thursday. I said, how the show's go,
and he goes they went really well, they went, They
went good. You know, let's try this again. Let's do
this over. Let's hear what I really want to hear.
I want to hear how bad well, how sorely. I
was missed and it's good to be back. It's it's
good to be back. Glad to have you back. Speaking
(02:12):
of returns, according to Manzi returns today here on Fox
Sports Radio, was was it on holiday? Could we say, monci?
Is that the case? Or do we just because we've
switched some hours up, we've kind of moved off to
the wayside that Oh gosh, it's such a perfect drop.
Speaker 5 (02:32):
It really is.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
But it's back today.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
It is back today.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
What are we exciting? Okay? That comes up in forty minutes?
What are the top good?
Speaker 5 (02:38):
I wasn't sure when it was, so thank you it's
in forty minutes, so good.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Okay, yes, you know we got.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
A little what did you think it would be? I
actually thought it.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
Was in the second one, if I'm being really honest,
that's why. Oh gotcha, that's all so But no, I'm
forty minutes ready, I'm ready.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
You know we got a little.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
Baseball okay, all right, baseball lit NBA, right, a little
life life.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
I love life. I love life.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
Yeah, all right, but you're not gonna love these people.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
I'm not. Oh man, So that that's in forty minutes.
And then now as Bree continues to take a Bow's microphone.
We uh we we we need to we need to
have our executive producer because I want everybody in on this.
This is a big this is a big question. Everybody
roots for the underdog, right, typically right for the most part. Yeah,
(03:29):
this is the point, well, ENGLF today there's not just
one underdog profeder. You an underdog person root for the underdog.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Uh plea as a Detroit Lions fan, almost pathologically so.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
All right, and then let me just throw this throw
this out to you, Carrie. Do you think people were
cheering for South Sudan yesterday?
Speaker 3 (03:49):
I was, once it gets on, once it gets to
the point where it's it could happen, yes, you'd be like,
I want.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
To see that happened. Crazy, right, he had Americans would
be cheering against their own team. But that's what happens.
And and and the point that I want to bring
up is is I do think that there are people
cheering for South Sudan, and I do think that there
are people who are going to be cheering for the
US to lose. That are Americans that are outside the
you know, the United States and have their own country
(04:20):
in the Olympic Games, but specifically with this Open Championship
going on right now, and I know it doesn't resonate
with everyone that golf isn't on the forefront. If it's
not Tiger Woods or Rory McElroy, it kind of it
kind of wades off. But what we do have here
is we have I would say six players still with
(04:41):
an opportunity. Actually, you know we're gonna make it five.
Five players still with an opportunity to win this championship.
So are you going for the underdog that's hung around
and had a good career and is finally waiting for
the breakthrough, because that's kind of Russell Henley and Billy
Horschell Right now, they're at four under par and three
(05:04):
shots back of the lead to Americans. Billy Rschell has
been left off of Ryder Cup teams that he felt
that he should be on. He's been very, very close.
He's had an I don't want to say an up
and down career, but even a year ago he was
talking about all the struggles that he was going through
his wife. They've made a publicly known battle alcoholism. So
(05:25):
there's a really good story with Billy Horshell Russell Henley's
trying to break through. There's that portion of it Americans Americans.
Then you have the guy who's actually leading, Tristan Lawrence,
who's ranked ninety eighth in the world, which actually is
really good if you think about it's still top one hundred,
but he's only playing in his sixth Grand sixth Major,
(05:46):
six Grand Slam event. So this is where Tristan Lawrence
is only the sixth time he's teed it up in
a major and he's currently leading on the back nine
at the Open Championship. And then you have Xander Schoffley
who has been waiting to break through and then finally
did this year at the PGA Championship and now can
double down and really arrive by having a season where
(06:07):
he wins fifty percent of the majors. Yeah. And then
you have Justin Rose, Englishman. This is being played in Scotland,
but still a lot of his fans there. Englishman who
hasn't won a major in over a decade, was the
gold medalist at the Rio Games. Justin Rose has been close.
One of the most famed pictures of the Open Championship
is when Justin Rose was an amateur in nineteen ninety
(06:28):
eight holding out for Birdie on the final hole at
Royal Birkdale. You've seen it over and over. In fact,
he wore a burgundy sweater that day. Rose is wearing
a burgundy sweater today. I've given you all of those layouts.
Ye who do you root for? What story do you
root for? Is it Tristan Lawrence, the guy who's just
played in six majors? Is it the Xander Schoffley's still
(06:48):
trying to break through with the Schefflers and the Koepkaz
and the mcelroys of the world. Is it Justin Rose,
who's the forty something who still hopes to have a
little left in the tank to get his second major.
Or is it the rust Well Henley and Billy Horschel's
who are trying to break through and just win their
first after opportunities to win.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Other majors previously. I think it's a breakthrough for me.
I think it's the guys that are have been scratching
and clawing. They've been close, but no cigar like those guys.
Those guys are always fun to root for, especially when
you have no skin in the game. But I mean,
I don't I mean I haven't really watched too much
golf here recently outside of what you just say, Like
Tiger was the draw for me, and then you know
(07:27):
those you know all those all those stories the Roaryes
as well, like you said, but yeah, the underdog guy,
the guy that's scratching and clawn to get there, that's
my kind of background.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
That's what excites me. So I would probably say that that.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Story for me and Billy Horschell is one of those
guys that we mentioned, and he just hit one in
the rough and they drive on twelve and it's three
shots back. And for as great as he was getting
things up and down yesterday, has not been as accurate today.
So we're gonna put you in the Russell Henley camp.
Cause Henley he's a Georgia bulldog by the way, so
southern boy.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Good. Yeah, Horschall went to floor, so you've got that
as well. Okay, Chris Purfet, where are you in terms
of the underdogs and the stories that we've got going
on at this Open Championship? Yes, Carrie has already invested.
Chris Prefet, where are you and who you want to
see take home the Claric jug today?
Speaker 4 (08:19):
I have to go look at the field right now.
Let me get back to you in like two p.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Only spent the last seven minutes talking. That's all that.
That's all that. It was Bo Benson. What underdog? Who
are you breaking? Is it? Is it Tristan Lawrence, the
ninety eighth rank player in the world, who no one
outside of South Africa really heard of, even though he's
won and he's won events overseas over the last couple
(08:43):
of years. Just us in America haven't heard. Is it
Xander Schoffley breaking through? Is it Justin Rose the rebirth?
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Did you say you said South Africa?
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Yeah, he's out eliminated Xander Schoffley. Let's go. He won
earlier this year, right, so your champions just keep it going.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Let's keep it going perfect.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
I have rooted for Xander Schoffley for a while, seeing
him just a stroke back. He was the guy I
followed around last year at the US Open ones here.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
In La Okay.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
So I'm definitely in the Xander camp.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
I would put Shane Lowry in this, who's got a
birdie putt on fifteen, but he's four shots back right now.
There's the par five sixteenth coming up. But I still
think it's a little bit out Manzi. Uh, yes, I
know you were just breed, but that.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
Means not as long as hartmand.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
That's in ten minutes where Steve Hartman sits in Manzi
studio and talks. But he's going to be in for
a root awakening when, according to Manzi returns. Yes, where
where's your rooting interest over these these two hours of
this this open Champions You.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
Know, I guess the no, I'm going for Scotti Shuffler.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
Well, and he was, and he's he's probably not gonna work.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
He's probably not.
Speaker 5 (09:53):
But I'm still.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Five shots back. I know.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
So you're saying there's a chance.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
I'm saying there's a chance.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
But in this situation, I I'm not necessarily rooting for
the underdog in this situation.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Okay, all right, I am all for Justin Rose. I
don't think Billy Horschell is gonna have a chance. I
think that he's fallen off. I want Justin Rose. And
this is the point, and I want to bring it
back to Team USA. And what happened yesterday with the
game against South Sudan Golf is different and in terms
of you can have five different great stories. I was
torn this morning on am I really pulling for Billy
(10:25):
Horschell or am I really pulling for Justin Rose? And
Justin Rose won the twenty thirteen US Open. Billy Horschell
has been trying to break through, and if I had
to put one on top of the other, I'd probably
put Horsechell because what it could mean for his career.
Plus I love that Horseell is a fiery guy, is
a lot of great emotion, and I know that rubs
people the wrong way, but he never does it in
a way that is that I feel is disrespectful. And
(10:48):
it's funny. The last time that the Open Championship was
at Troon, Horschell was wearing his hat backwards. Happens to me.
When I sweat, the sweat drips off the brim. But
when you get rain, you got to turn it around
because when you're putting, it ends up dripping off of
your brim. He kind of got some flak for that
the last time around. Had to do it yesterday because
the conditions were so bad. Nobody had a problem with it.
But the role of the role of underdog is different
(11:10):
when you have a golf tournament because you have a
lot of times five different stories. Sometimes, if it's just
you know, two players going down the stretch head to head,
it's easy to pick a side and you fall in love.
But when you have five players right now, had six
players within four shots of the lead, there are a
lot of different ways for this to go and a
lot of different stories to follow. Yeah, my guy Hinley
just had a great drive off the tee. We're rolling. Now,
(11:33):
we're rolling Russell Henley, he's always been a huge fan.
At any point, did you want South Sudan to win yesterday?
Speaker 3 (11:41):
No, I didn't want him to win, but I was
you get invested and you don't care. I mean, obviously
there was no nothing at stake in that game either.
It was just an exhibition. So once it got close,
I knew a couple of those guys, Carlic Jones went
to Louisville, so I was rooting, you know. So, yes,
there was some investment there. There's fun to see there.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
There. There was the point when Xander Shaffley is just
birdied the thirteenth, so he is now tied for the lead. Yes,
so Xander Shaffley a perfect scorecard. He's four under on
this round today and he has now tied Tristan Lawrence
for the lead at the Open Championship. Chris Purfett, what
do you got just.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Going back to South Sudan a second. I was in
this studio. One of our other board operators, Mary was
in here, and I know the moment, like we we
watched that lead wilt away from South Sudan. But when
they hit that three to go up with like twenty
seconds left, one oh one to ninety.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Eight, we know it was a one point game. Yeah,
they led.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
One and ninet nine, That's what it was. Yeah, and
we we popped. This entire studio popped. Really do you
think it would have popped if it was the Olympics.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Yes, I would have. I s well, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
I know I'm a minority around here, but I've been
at two Olympics in my life, and I love the Olympics.
I love the Olympics. I don't just root for Team USA.
I root for those stores is I root for those individuals.
Like the idea of an underdog. There is even more
utterly fascinating in the Olympics.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
I think that there's there's a portion of these Olympic
Games that are coming up that start Friday, when you're
talking about underdogs where we don't follow track and field
usually the off years don't. We don't follow swimming. We
know some of the name of the names carry over,
but there are rare instances. It's not everyone that carries
(13:28):
over and follows. So even though the US may be
say dominant in swimming or you know, dominant in track
and field, I know they're not dominant in track and field.
Very very good. But the point is is you're going
to cheer for the United States because it's the United States.
When you have a dream team and a Team USA
and you know all these players and you know who
they are, it feels like we are starting eight steps
(13:51):
ahead of everyone else. So there's not the same sort
of pull I think. And in fact, what I found
so interesting over this last week or so and really
off it, especially off of yesterday's game carry is where
we treat Team U. I say, like we treat them
in the NBA, and we're talking about like how we
(14:11):
treat them in the NBA, where the Olympics are supposed
to be a feel good sort of thing. And that
tells me two things. Number One, I'm going to be
exhausted talking about Olympic basketball over these next two weeks,
because it's just exhausting anyway. But number two that yeah,
there may be people that are rooting against Team U.
I say, because they're not a Lebron James fan, you know,
(14:32):
or they want to see that update that's that upset.
Excuse me that that South Sudan could have pulled. And
I just I find that so unique as we're about
to enter the Olympics, when you're usually cheering for your flag,
cheering for your country, that Team U, I say, because
they are such the favorite in our South Sudan was
such the underdog that you're probably gonna have people crossing
(14:52):
party lines and cheering against team I.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Wonder if I want to if that's the case. I
want to if that's the case, or I wonder if they
just want drama. I think there's a line there that
probably probably could be drawn where I mean the patriotism
level obviously that rise is doing the Olympics. That's what
it's about. A team like the team like the Olympic
basketball team, you know, our our Olympic basketball team, the USA,
(15:17):
like they are expected to win. So when they get
in games like that where it is some high level
drama you kind of want to see. I think the
Cream rise to the top and just have some competitive basketball.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
I think more than anything.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
I don't know if it's about seeing them lose, but
it's about being competitive and having some real good games.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
I think there's a very simple way to put this
that I think why people are I think people are
realizing Team USA is the Soviet Union in nineteen eighty hockey.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
I don't agree with that because it's professionals against amateurs.
I would just like and to the point of, there's
no chemistry with Team USA. They're trying to form it
over the last month, and I feel that that there's
I mean, you have other NBA players. I mean they
just topped Serbia in an exhibition with Jokic. Yeah, you know,
(16:07):
and you win by thirty points or whatever it is,
So you didn't necessarily have that in the nineteen eighty Games.
What I think happens is I just I think that
there's the carryover what I did. There's the carryover from
the NBA season, and you don't take your fandom away
if you are an anti Lebron James fan, or maybe
(16:27):
you don't like the Celtics or and there is something
about the South Sudan team whereas you said, you know,
one of the players came from Louisville, but by and
large most of the players were unrecognizable to the general
fan in basketball. And if the US would have lost
to Serbia, I do not think that there is a
(16:48):
huge cheer. I don't think there's a pop that Chris
was talking about. If you have a close game like
that Serbia's gott Nikola Jokich, you know, like they've got
that sort of team, but that sort of underdog play
into against the team where in this matchup, Chris, I
would say, okay, maybe it does seem fair where it
could be a fair comparison where it is nineteen eighty
(17:08):
you know, Soviet team against the Americans for where they're
set up in that game yesterday. But you know, outside
of that, I don't think that. I don't think that's
the case in the rest of the Olympics. But I
just wonder and I thought that it was interesting that
how they handled the late possession and I think it
was right how they handled the late possessions. You had
to have Lebron James take that shot because then everything
(17:30):
falls in order. He makes the layup, you end up
taking the lead. The next time they're in that situation,
he's probably gonna get the ball again and now he
can drive and dish and do what he needs to do.
But I just I know, I was sitting there. I
was relieved that the Americans won. I did not want
South Sudan to win the game, But by no means
was I. You know, I thought Anthony Davis was fouled
(17:51):
on the lu prior. I thought that that was a
bad call. But by no means was I throwing my
remote across the room when these plays were happening. And
I just feel like that an underdog roll yesterday kind
of probably played a part into it, and christ perfests
the perfect example of people cheering for South Sudan. I
just wonder if it's going to carry over into the
(18:12):
Olympic Games, if people are going to be cheering for
the underdog because tm USA is such the favorite.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Yeah, I don't think. I don't think when the metal
counts they will, but you never know. Like I said,
I think there is excitement that bills or can brew
once you've kind of since that upset coming or a
team stepping up and rising rising up to the cream
of what the USA can represent.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
And what they can be on the good day. So
I think it's exciting, and I know that a lot of.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
The world has caught up with our with our style
of basketball play and over there and feed. But the
rules are different, the court smaller, the fouls are shorter,
the fowls are harder, the come like. It's a different game.
So we have to adjust to the world, and it's
a little it's a little different now.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
There's also something to the effect, to the effect of
watching yesterday when you say, hey, that loss is going
to help us. You hear that in the NFL that
loss is going to help us. The close game helps them.
I didn't want Team USA to lose. I think that
win or lose, they they as a team get the
same out of it. I think if they lose, that
(19:16):
would have been it probably wouldn't have overshadowed the the
the rest of the Olympics. I think it would have
been brought up a lot. I also then would wonder
if the USA would steamroll. I think now that they're now,
you've got to be locked in, yes, that that's that's
the point where I think tomorrow or for these next
couple of weeks. Excuse me, where you do have to
(19:38):
see dominant basketball, even if the rest of the world
has tried to catch up. Yesterday was the wake up call.
Now you got to play strong, one sided basketball the
rest of the way.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Yeah, that was the SoundBite of Lebron walking off the
court saying we needed that. It was a good that
was a good lesson, that was a good win for us.
So sure, exactly what if he doesn't make this shot?
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Do you think he says that, if he blows the
layout or they follow him and they don't call it
like they did against the Celtics, you know two years ago,
do you think he's saying the same thing. I mean,
we already know Lebron is. You're exactly right, he is
not saying that at all. He's Carrier. I'm Dan Byer,
(20:18):
it is Fox Sports Sunday Manzi Blanos this year, Bob Benson,
Chris Purfett. We are all hanging out easy as one, two, three,
four returns. You guys didn't do that the last two weeks, correct, No,
I didn't think so. Moncey tried it once and it
was a disaster. I heard.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
My disaster is not the like we got a game
out of It wasn't as easy as one two three four. No,
but I thought I was doing easy as one two
three four. And then after as I was doing it,
I literally said on air to Brian No, I was.
Speaker 6 (20:46):
Like, this is completely wrong. We're gonna keep going.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
That's fine, We're just roll with it.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Monsi does a great job of if she's sitting in
somebody else's show, she tries to keep the structure of that.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
So I applaud her for that. That wasn't he want to,
But I don't know.
Speaker 6 (21:02):
What I made up.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
I made up something else, all right, And I've.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Got homework for you, and I've got homework for the
listener as well. End of the show, when, according to Mansie,
will not be taking place in our last segment ninety
minutes from now. What could have been the matchups in
sports that you had never seen, and this is on
the heels of last night was supposed to be the
Jake Paul Mike Tyson fight. Yes, now they're going to
fight in November, but it didn't happen last night, and
(21:26):
that was gonna be one of the big parts of
the summer in certain sports. What are the matchups that
we never got to see that we always wanted to see.
That's what we want to know. Hit them up at
Carrie twenty five Roads. You can find me at Dan
Byro on Fox. We'll run them down at the end
of the show. But coming up next we'll give you
an update of what's happening at the Open Championship where
(21:47):
Xander Schoffley is now by the way in the lead
by himself. Does one Major League Baseball team have a
good or bad problem on their hands? Plus what happened
last night the WNBA All Star Game and what it
means going forward. He's carry I'm Dan. That's next year
on Fox Sports Sunday.

(23:16):
player lost, and we missed out on what could be greatness.
This as last night was supposed to be the Mike
Tyson Jake Paul fight. Jake Paul did fight, won by
a knockout in the sixth round. But it does help.
I'm not trying to discredit him as a fighter, and
Jake Paul is not undefeated, but it does help when
you're a lot bigger than the other guy, a whole
(23:38):
lot bigger.
Speaker 3 (23:39):
Yes, those punches mean a little bit more in that
weight class.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Yes, so it's an advantage. Mancy Belanos is going to
be with us in about thirty seconds for an update.
But the knockout punch last night, as we were talking,
the South Sudan had almost a knockout punch on Team USA.
Opportunities in that final second and to get a final bucket,
but it's Team USA's defense. I just refuse Carrie to
(24:05):
talk about Team USA like we talk about every NBA
team or player. I just it is it is too exhausting.
I think it's too much to even ask of Team USA.
I Am not going to do it. And I have
a feeling I am going to be in for a
headache for the next three weeks because of how we
are breaking down this team that is only going to
be together for the next three weeks.
Speaker 3 (24:27):
Yeah, I don't even have any I've had no, no,
no association to this team at all. I mean, it
seems pretty boring. And when you talk about speaking about
something at nausea, it's like, yeah, we know the storylines.
We know you guys want want to see Lebron and
Steph play together in real basketball. So this is kind
(24:47):
of like a little a little a little glorified image
of what that could be, and you're trying to pump
that story out there. You're trying to pump out the
story of Anthony Edwards being the OUTFA on the team,
and we already know that's kind of where it's going
for the like everything you're saying is leading towards next
season already with.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
The Showlin and so sure, it is a lot. And
when we talked earlier this week, you brought up the
point out, you know, Carmelo, Anthony and his Olympic legacy
and everyone with their defined roles. I don't know if
they're I mean, I think that we have some defined roles.
I found it interesting that Derek White was just added
to the team and he's on the floor in the
final seconds, you know, of game against South Sudan. I
(25:25):
don't know well thought out. That was no knock on
Derek White, but just the point of if he was
just a late ad, then how much has these late
game situations been really really brought into effect. And maybe
it's matchups, maybe it's feel who knows what the deal is,
but I think we're gonna get more of that. I
think it's actually and this is the problem with the
NBA is we don't talk about the greatness enough. We
(25:47):
talk about more of the negativity. And I'm as guilty
as anybody with it. And we're trying to find negativity
within the Team USA and if someone doesn't have a role,
and we're seeing it like Joel Embiid is not fitting
in right now, so there's negativity towards him. But it's
not just him. It's going to be other players who
maybe why isn't Devin Booker on the floor at this point, right,
isn't it? You know, those those things are gonna end
(26:09):
up creeping in And so to me, that's not what
the Olympics are about. It's not what this Team USA
thing is supposed to be about. But it's starting to
become that and that's annoying to me.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
And even on top of that, right, Steve Kerr came
out and said there are three defined starters on that team,
So by him even saying that that, there's controversy there.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
Who are the other two starting spots?
Speaker 3 (26:29):
And so obviously everybody on that team could probably start
those last two spots. What is the what is Steve
Kerr looking at? What is Team USA looking at? For
those last two spots. Is it just guys that fit
around those two or are you gonna put the two
best players there? So you just bringing more questions up
that you know, we don't need to know the answer
to it until we see it.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
So Monte Bans is our closer when it comes to this.
Starting five here on Fox Sports Sunday, she is here
with the latest of what's going on, including at the
Open Championship at Roy True, I know one of Monty's
favorite courses in the RODA, one that she has talked
about very fondly.
Speaker 8 (27:06):
Sure, that's right.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
You know what I did?
Speaker 2 (27:13):
You cannot stop talking about Todd Hamilton winning in two
thousand and four. I couldn't it. I could not. By
the way, when Todd Hamilton won in two thousand and four,
it was about the same time that win, A date
with Tad Hamilton came out, like within like a year
or two, and so that was like the running joke
amongst my buddies.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
Yes, it's a good chick flick.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Yeah, is it good?
Speaker 4 (27:31):
It's a fun chick flick.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
You know, back in we don't have chick flicks anymore.
Speaker 6 (27:34):
They're not a thing anymore. That was a fun chick
flick back then. I will say that now, Dan, I
do feel that golf is the most unfair sport. And
I didn't feel that up until this Open because it
off three hours before you and I get bad weather.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
That is not fair, correct, right, That's that I would
not be I.
Speaker 6 (27:54):
Would be such a sore loser.
Speaker 5 (27:56):
I would not be able to do this.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Yes, you're right, this is unfair. Now now there there's
a lot to that, but there's also starting tea times
of when players play. Yesterday, the problem was is that
if you played really well the first two days, you
had your late tea time because you were a high
up on the leaderboard, and that's when you got the
worst of the weather. Yeah, so Shane's fair. Shane Lowry's
(28:18):
had to play in the worst of it, you know,
for pretty much the entire weekend and he's still being
able to navigate. But you're right, You're completely right.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
I did not realize that until now.
Speaker 6 (28:28):
I can never play golf.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
Is what I'm saying. Can I bring up another point?
Speaker 5 (28:31):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Do you want to hear this?
Speaker 8 (28:33):
Well?
Speaker 2 (28:33):
With golf, there's you will see have you ever heard
people calling in rules in fractions watching on TV? So
the rules of golf are are are very interesting, and
there are rules that you wouldn't think would be an infraction.
And what you had for a while was you had
people watching at home and seeing something happen on their
(28:54):
screen and they would call like CBS and say, hey,
Xander Schoffley just did this, and rules officials would review
it and see it and then yes, this is would
happen in golf. It would, and then a player would
be assessed a penalty because someone you know in Virginia
beats Virginia watching on TV. Yes, it's crazy, right, completely.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
Unfair, completely unfair.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
So you can be at home watching them just dry
snitching at the same time.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
Yes, that's rude.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Wow, but I was. I was. Then I talked to
a rules a guy that I know that's a good
friend of mine that has handled rules officials, and I said,
you know that, like that's like something like that is
completely unfair. And he brought up the point of if
you're Tiger Woods, you were always playing with people around you.
So if you get an errant shot and it hits
Carrie's knee, the ball stops. Well what about if you
(29:47):
aren't a popular player, there's nobody around you stop. Yeah,
so it rolls forty yards past him into the woods.
So who's that fair for that?
Speaker 4 (29:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (29:59):
No, you're right. It also like, yes, this fair. It's
you're one hundred percent right now. That's why it's a game.
It's a game about life. That is correct. That is
one hundred percent correct.
Speaker 5 (30:10):
Upsetting. I've been so upset about for hours and now
you're making me worse.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Said about it. Yeah, there's nothing fair lot, that's why
about it, perfect picture of life.
Speaker 5 (30:18):
Xander Shoffley is probably like, hey, I don't care if
it's not fair. I'm in the lead right now. He
has jumped up to the top of the leader board.
He is eight under par overall all alone, he is
five under through fourteen holes for the day. Tristan Lawrence
is now two shots back at the top of the
leader board, Justin Rose is three shots back, and Scotty
Scheffler five shots back. He is one under for the
(30:41):
day through sixteen holes. So again, Xander Schoffley in the
lead of the final round of one hundred and fifty
second open.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
Eight under par over all in the NBA.
Speaker 5 (30:50):
ESPN tweeted not too long ago that Celtic splort. Sam Hauser,
one of the NBA's most accurate three point shooters, has
agreed on a four year, forty five million dollar contract extension.
So this extension to the Celtics twenty twenty five twenty
twenty six payroll elevates it to a projective two hundred
and twenty five million with an additional two hundred and
ten million luxury tax penalty, highest in the league over
(31:12):
the second apron for a second consecutive year. They don't care.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
When you win, you got to pay those guys. Yeah, yeah,
you know.
Speaker 5 (31:20):
Somebody responded and was like, winning is nice, but dynasties
are even better. So it's just kind of like, you
get it. Baseball full slit a full slate of games
that are going to start at the top of the hour,
but the Baseball Hall of Fame induction is going to
start at one thirty Eastern from Cooperstown. Adrian Beltret Todd Helton,
Joe Mauer, and Jim Leland will be inducted later today.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
Back to you guys, Mazi, where's Henley?
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Where's Henley? You didn't talk about Hill at all.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
I did not.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
I'm not gonna lie to you. I did it.
Speaker 5 (31:51):
No, Yeah, he's four under, four shots back and.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
He's still got four holes to go.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
He's yes, he does, and so Doesxander Shoffley, who is
four heads. So he's got a line to climb there, exactly.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
I do want to quick bring up this point. The
Pittsburgh Pirates have won six straights in the Pittsburgh Pirates
as we start the day, are currently a half game
back of the final wild card YEP in the National League.
Now the Diamondbacks and Mats are currently tied for that
final spot. What do you think the Pirates do with
Paul Skeens? What would you do? You're going down the stretch.
(32:27):
You've got the longest playoffs route in the National League.
Only Profets, Tigers, and the Angels have a longer postseason
drought in Major League Baseball, But in the National League,
the Pirates have not made to the postseason in eight years.
What would you do with your star pitcher in how
you handle him down the stretch? This is a loaded question.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Is a loaded question for me because obviously you want
to win, and he gives you the best chance to win.
And if you have you've had a drought like Pittsburgh has,
high you want to bring that. You want to keep
that excitement going for what they have right now. So
I would say go after it and for them also
because I don't think he'll be there long.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
What you talked about before, you better use them now
why you have him, So I would go for it.
I would go for go for the play I think
you have to as well. I mean, you know, he
was pulled from the No No, you know, just just
recently and there was a lot of kerfuffle about that,
pulled after seven innings in Milwaukee, and there are gonna
be situations on his usage down the stretch. If you
(33:27):
get into the you know, Wild Card Series, you're going
to be playing important games. You're going to need your guy.
Those are all big decisions for the Pittsburgh Pirates to have,
not unlike other teams have made in the past, but
you haven't had your best pitcher starting an All Star
Game and then maybe possibly be limited at the end
of the year. Honestly, it wouldn't have been a problem
(33:49):
that we thought the Pirates would have this season, but
now here we are now the playoffs have expanded, it
could be a good problem to have for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Yes,
but one that will be scrutinized here over the next
couple of months. He's carry roads. I'm Dan Byer, keeping
an eye of what's happening on what's happening at Royal
Troon against Xander Schoffley, two shot lead over Tristan Lawrence,
(34:09):
in a three shot advantage over Justin Rose coming up next.
According to Moncie, we heard a little baseball and apparently
there is a dying breed in baseball. What dying breed
is that we're gonna find out next year. He's carry
I'm Dan live from the Tirek dot Com studios. It's
Fox Sports Sunday. It's Fox Sports Sunday. He's carry Rhoades
(34:32):
the All Pro I'm Dan Byer, Xanders Schoffley holding a
two shot lead over Tristan Lawrence, in a three shot
lead over Justin Rose and Russell Henley. As they come
down the stretch of the Open Championship, Carrie's Russell Henley
pick looked a little better. I mean, so he's got
a lot of ground to make up and with a
very few holes left, but he did just birdie to
(34:52):
pull even at in third place with Justin Rose. Hey

Speaker 4 (35:34):
And yeah correct, and.
Speaker 6 (35:37):
Now it's time for absolutely that's.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
According to Monsi, I love it.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
All right, backwarding to Monsey. According to Mansi, back from
holiday is this show. According to Manzi, there is a
dying breed in baseball.
Speaker 6 (35:54):
There really is, and I'm so sad to say it.
Speaker 5 (35:57):
You've probably already noticed it, but them of starting pitchers,
that is a dying breed.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
We need to get used to there.
Speaker 5 (36:05):
Being new awesome pictures every year, and that really really
sucks to think about. Back then you used to look
ahead at a schedule for a matchup. Now that's not
this case anymore.
Speaker 9 (36:16):
This year, two hundred and sixty three pitchers have spent
time on the IL. Two hundred and sixty three sustained
excellence in pitching guys that is going out the window
and it really really sucks. Paul Skins, so I'm a
big fan of but him being named a starter for
the All Star Game proves that we have not had
a rookie starter in twenty nine years.
Speaker 5 (36:37):
Because there's a lot of pictures throughout the years that
have been great for many, many years. Now the greatness
is a short period of time. Whatever the reason is,
you know, the spin ray, the sticky stuff, a different ball,
I don't know what it is. But these injuries are
growing every single day and it super sucks. Just to
give you an idea, some of the cy young winners
(36:57):
in the last ten years, Okay, Max Scherzer just pulled
after two innings after suffering arm fatigue. He also had
back surgery in twenty twenty three. Garrett Cole injured, Kershaw injured,
coming back sure but injured, Shane Bieber injured and out
of the season, Robbie Ray injured but it's supposed to
make his debut for San Francisco soon, Corey Kleeber retired,
Jacob de Grom injured, Sandy Elcantara missing the entire season.
(37:19):
Blake's now dealing with injuries. He's all went three for
the season, an ERA of six point three to one. Sadly,
it's a dying breed. We are not going to have
sustained excellence in starting pitchers anymore.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
I'm with you in the pitching matchup set a game.
You just get tickets to a game and then you're like, oh, wait,
I get to see blog against blog instead of oh
last night was Blog against Blog. I gotta see Bo.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
And now you're like, who's pitching?
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Oh, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (37:45):
They just called him up. Yeah, Like, it's it's just
something we're gonna have.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
To get used to.
Speaker 5 (37:50):
The Schuzers, the Kershaws, that's it. It is a dying breed.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yeah, I agree with that as well.
Speaker 5 (37:55):
It sucks.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Yeah, it is. It's tough.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
According to Monsey.
Speaker 3 (37:59):
Well, according to Monty, it's time for Cheryl Miller to
make a comeback to coaching.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
Oh yes, this makes two much sense.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
But Cheryl Miller needs to come back to the WNBA
and coach the Indiana Fever.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
In a matter of days.
Speaker 5 (38:16):
She was able to coach all these young stars to
beat Team USA.
Speaker 9 (38:20):
When I was told this was the best defenses ever
put together.
Speaker 5 (38:24):
Arique Ogombo walle I think I said that prove that
third defense was made at best because she torched them
for thirty four points all in the second half. Arikae
even said at halftime that Miller just told her take
a deep breath and play your game. That is the
type of coach that knows how to connect with the
players prior to the game itself. Miller said that when
it came to Kitlin Clark and Angel Reech, she knew
(38:44):
the important was to let them be themselves. It doesn't
seem like the Fever are letting Kitlyn Clark be herself.
And this may be unfair to Christy Sides, but you
know what, life is unfair. Sorry, The Fever have a
special thing going on with Kitlyn Clark.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
And Aliah Boston.
Speaker 5 (38:58):
They need to maximize on this one. To punch Miller
should be coaching the Indiana Fever yesterday.
Speaker 2 (39:04):
I agree with you.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
Chow was a great person too, like in the Great Coach,
Great Basketball Mine one of the greatest players ever.
Speaker 5 (39:10):
Imagine you can help her shooting, bet her, You'll help
her perfect her shoot her shot.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
Yeah. No, also helps Reggie play in the city. Now
Cheryl coaches in the city. Yeah. Like it makes too
much sense.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
According to Monseig.
Speaker 8 (39:23):
All right, according to Mansi, people need to get out
of the way.
Speaker 5 (39:26):
Yeah, like, okay, So when there are doors to enter
in and out of businesses, that is not a place for.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
You to stand and congregate with your friends and talk.
Speaker 5 (39:34):
That is not a place I literally every day for
the last week. Yesterday I went to pick up some food,
some takeout, and these two girls were standing in front
of the door where I'm entering.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
So I was very out loud.
Speaker 5 (39:45):
I was like, excuse me, and I split right between
the two of them. Why are you standing at the
entrance or exit of this facility that people are trying
to get in and out of.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
Why do people do that on the sidewalk?
Speaker 5 (39:55):
Get out of the way, move to the side, congregate
somewhere else, not at the entrance or exit.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Must I told you people try you.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
You need to step up, and you need to step
on your tippy toes and walk through very strong.
Speaker 5 (40:06):
I did, and the girls are like, oh, sorry, we're starting.
Get out of the way.
Speaker 2 (40:10):
You were in the way on the heels of that.
To the two ladies who smoke on the fifth floor
of our parking garage, here, your smoke isn't flying away,
it's storing into the elevators where all of us need to.
Speaker 5 (40:21):
Take to get down of the Yes, get out of
the way day.
Speaker 4 (40:25):
It's a firehouserd too.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
Yeah, jeez, and get off your phones in Asauana, welcome back.
According to Manzi, it's good to have you. What do
we take away from that WNBA All Star game? And
the Bears rookie is in camp that's next. Within the
next hour or so, they'll be handing out the claret
jug And it sure does look like it's gonna end
up in the midst of Xander Shoftley. As you heard
(40:47):
Monty Belano's tell us there in the latest update. So
that would be his second major and second in the
past three so you know that feeling, Carrie when you
break through. You know, as long as you get number one,
then the other ones maybe start pouring in. That seems
to be the case for Xander Schoffley, who's played flawless
(41:10):
golf in the fun around at the Open Championship.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
And then, you know, we do like as much as
we like underdog stories, we like to we also like
dominance as well. And then to see somebody break through
and get that first one, now get that second one.
Now we're trying to see if he can go out
and become the main of tracxing, you know.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
So it's beautiful. We are broadcasting a lot from the
tirech dot Com studios. Tirec dot com will help you
get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road
hazard protection in over ten thousand recommended sellers tirec dot Com.
The Way tire buying should be the perfect example of
like changing of a narrative and opening of the floodgates
to me and my generation. And I'm now in my
(41:48):
mid to late forties after the half birthday earlier this week.
The running joke here is duke basketball. Okay, because growing up,
Duke was the team that made it to the final
four but never won, and they they would. They lost
to Louisville in nineteen eighty six in the championship Yar
(42:08):
alma Mater. They lost in eighty eight in the final four,
They lost in eighty nine in the final four, and
then they got killed by UNLV in nineteen ninety and like, oh,
Duke is that Duke is that program? And then they
upset UNLV, and the rest is kind of history of
where they've they've gone. But I remember a time where
like that was the that was the label of Duke.
(42:31):
They're unable to break through. And I actually cheered for
Duke as we talked about underdogs to start this. I
cheered for Duke against UNLV that national semifinal in nineteen
ninety one because I didn't like Christian Lehner and I
didn't like Bobby Hurley, but I wasn't a fan of
UNLV either, and UNLV was the dominant team, so I
(42:53):
wanted the underdog to win, and the underdog that night
was Duke. And it's crazy to look back at, you know,
thirty three years later, but that is the case. That
was the situation, and that's funny.
Speaker 3 (43:04):
I'm just like a couple of years younger than you,
and my whole point of view of what you just
said is totally different. Yes, because I'm looking that duke
for the looking at that duke and really paying attention
for the first time in ninety one, and the dumbness
from that point on has been my history.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
They win in ninety one, they win in ninety two,
they in ninety four, they make it to the championship game.
It's actually why I think that we're talking to USA basketball.
I don't think that Grant Hill gets is enough credit
because he was the main piece of that nineteen ninety
four team that ended up losing to Arkansas in the championship.
(43:41):
Of his role and obviously his NBA career robbed because
of injuries or you know, the second half of his
career rob because of injury. That question for he name
two guys off that Arkansas team right now, Corlus Williamson,
the Scotty third, Cory Beck Alex Dillard had the long
from my hometown. Really.
Speaker 3 (44:03):
Yes, So I would play basketball. I was playing Highchoo
highchool and we would play. He would be there sometimes
and we were scrimmage against him sometimes. Okay, good story yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
All right, good, good callback I hit him up back
carry twenty five roads. You can find me at dan
Byer on Fox Team USA. The women's team falls to
the team WNBA. Moncey mentioned it a little bit and
according to Moncy, but is this is this this scenario
last night where we see Erique a Goombalwally have the
thirty four points, where we see Angel Reiche have the
(44:33):
double double, and we see Caitlin Clark only have four
points and not hit a three. Does this shut up
the Caitlin Clark should have been on the Olympic team crowd?
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (44:44):
I saw on X people were still talking about it,
so I don't think it ever will. But I I,
like I said, even before this and before this game,
at the time of this election, she probably wasn't the
best option to go on that. Now that she's fully
embraced her role on this level and it started to
play really, really, really excellent basketball, then you can always
(45:08):
bring up to bring up the debate, right, she should
be on the team, but at that time I don't
think she should have. So I think it was a
beautiful exhibition of basketball. It's great for the game yesterday
to to UH to see those guys, to see those girls,
to see those women battle, and the format that they
had was really cool for the Arstar Game.
Speaker 2 (45:25):
The All Star Game is really good and really fun.
The scenario that played out with Caitlyn Clark and I've
been able to talk golf because of the Open Championship
going on today. I believe that this is the case
in team competitions for golf. The golf has two Team usas,
ones for the Ryder Cup and one is for the
(45:46):
President's Cup. The Ryder Cup is put on by the
PGA of America and that's who takes on Team Europe.
The President's Cup takes on the rest of the world.
A Team USA does and that's put on by the
PGA Tour or But if you work with those and
you expose different players to this team format, I think
(46:08):
your opportunity and it's an opportunity that the Americans have
that Team Europe really doesn't have and the Internationals don't
have in the President's Cup because Team Europe isn't playing
the Internationals in their own match like every other year,
it's either the President's Cup or the or the Ryder Cup.
And what it would allow the Americans to do is
(46:29):
to put players on a team that maybe aren't as experienced,
but give them their their team experience, and if they
don't farewell in a President's Cup and it comes down
to a let's just say, a tight decision on a
Ryder Cup, you can use some of that knowledge from
the other event to be like, Okay, well maybe this
(46:50):
person isn't set up for that sort of role. That's
the reason, that's the only reason why I thought Caitlin
Clark should have been on Team USA. Yeah, I didn't
care that she wasn't on it. More people were up
in arms. You can make an argument of why she
shouldn't and why she shouldn't for there. I never fully
(47:13):
bought into well now I'm not gonna watch you know,
like like in that aspect of it. What I thought
it could have done was it could have put Caitlin
Clark in that Team USA locker room and allowed and
you and I even had this conversation where I thought
maybe more people would embrace her And then guess what,
You're setting up your future runs for more success. Sure,
(47:35):
because you have a group of players that know how
to play and know how to play in that atmosphere.
That's why I thought she should have made it. I
think last night, I think it is after seeing Erique
a goombawally have thirty four points. She was the name
that people brought up of who actually should have been
on the team that I think would probably silence the
crowd that wanted Caitlin Clark on Team USA.
Speaker 3 (47:55):
Yeah, I would, I would hope, So I would expect
that to be the.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
The right response to that.
Speaker 3 (48:02):
But it's just, you know, the sides are so divided
on the Kaitlyn Clark you know, should be there and
should not be there that I don't I don't see
it really being finding the home yo stasis point ever.
But I mean, like I said, it was a beautiful
game to watch yesterday, and also I think it lends
a little a little magic in the little of the
(48:24):
format of what it could be for the for the
the men's game, Maybe the Riot and Stars should take
on the All Stars and maybe it'll be more competitive game.
And so just like having you know, kind of that
that kind of shown to us on the grand scale
was kind of fun to see. I mean, Kitlyn Clark
was asked after the game if.
Speaker 2 (48:39):
It was vindication getting that victory, and she said no
and she wants rest. That's true. That was also an
excuse for not competing in a three point shootout for uh,
you know, for the All Star weekend. But Clark also
said that what it does show is that there's a
(48:59):
lot of good talent in the WNBA. So you think
thinks that Team USA will be fine in the Olympics.
And I think that's the case as well. But that
was the argument that some made is if you're going
to dominate anyway, why not put somebody on the team
that is going to I felt be able to carry
that no pun intended porch over the next couple of
(49:21):
years or the next couple of Olympic games and they
have that sort of experience instead of having you know,
a forty one year old, you know, Diana Tarassi on
there who was playing in her final Olympics. It's a
it's quite the balance in terms of do you give
a swan song but to give you know, like how
does it work out? Do you give it to the
player who you know? Like in the Ryder Cup, in
(49:41):
the President's Cup, there are guys who you just you
know they're going to be there. You know, they're going
to be on the team. And then there are other
guys who you know, someone like Billy Horschel, who you know,
just ends up making a putt down and it's not
going to win the Open Championship, but has been very
vocal and isn't in that in crowd of players that
some feel like is in golf you have to do
(50:02):
a little bit more extra and every two years you're
probably not going to be up for consideration for that
Ryder Cup. So when you have an opportunity to actually
break through, you want to be on that team. And
then like so those are the decisions as well that
needed to be made. But I just I felt like
last night was and it's an opportunity for us to
kind of put it to bed. But it'd be difficult.
(50:24):
It would be a difficult, it'd be a difficult argument,
I think, aside from we're trying to grow, we're trying
to build a base here for Team USA. After seeing
what happened last night in the All Star.
Speaker 3 (50:35):
Game, Yeah, I mean to piggyback really quickly on the
on the Swan song or Kaitlin Clark coming in and
kind of you know, aggreciating yourself to that to the
to the Olympic basketball and to women's basketball moving forward.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
You're definitely going to go Swanson.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
I mean, Diana Taratzi has done so much for the
game as well, and so if it came down to
just those two, I would see why Diana, Really, you.
Speaker 2 (50:59):
Go another one? Then to get somebody in that could
end up, Oh yeah, I go Swan Song for sure
with Diana. Diana's history in the game and what she
did and what she meant to the game is so important,
and if she wanted to be a part of it,
I would liken it to a Lebron James. This is
his last one.
Speaker 3 (51:17):
He's not coming back next year, so it would be
similar in my mind for that.
Speaker 2 (51:20):
Really, yeah, you'd rather up You'd rather keep the flowers
in for an extra week than uproot them and put
the new flowers in for that sort of season. That's
that's what.
Speaker 3 (51:32):
Yeah, Yeah, justin justin, just in that instance, I'm not
saying that's always the case, but now, when that would
make sense if it came down to those two.
Speaker 2 (51:39):
I feel that if there's a there's a if there's
a part lacking, Yeah, if there's a part that you
feel is needed, with veteran leadership, then you should then
you should do it. Uh. If you need stability, then
you can put the person who's been there before watching
on her screen right now watching Justin Rose, who's likely
(52:00):
going to finish second or tied for second here at
the Open Championship. He was He was a pick for
Luke Donald on the Ryder Cup team last year, and
there was a question on whether he was going to
be And here's Justin Rose in his forties, and you
have these thirty and twenty somethings and a lot of
other players that you can pick from. They he's been
on other Ryder Cup teams, but they put him on
(52:21):
there because of his experience, because of some of the
younger players that they had on there, and it balanced
it out. If you're debating between the two and you're
not lacking that veteran leadership, I would go younger. Yeah,
I would go I would do the opposite of what
you said, and I would have said, you know what, thanks,
thanks for the memories, thanks for your service. Yes, and
(52:43):
we will see you later. We will continue to play
your highlights over the last couple of years. But you
are not going to be on Team USA. Or whatever team.
It ends up being, Oh my god, he's Carrier Oads.
I'm Dan Byer. We are broadcasting live from the Tirek
dot Com Studios. Somebody's here, somebody here got a problem
with the uh not with the Chicago Bears, but maybe
(53:05):
of how things have gone down in Chicago. Plus easy
As one, two, three four makes its return. You've got Manse,
You've got per Fet, You've got bo As, your lifelines,
your topics today, Olympics and Major League Baseball. Those two
that's it. That's it, major League Baseball and the Olympics.
Buckle up, easy As one, two, three four A lot forth.
(53:27):
Tirek dot Com Studios is next. He's Carrier Roads. I'm
Dan Byer. This is Fox Sports Radio. Xander Shafley just
got to experience one of the greatest walks in all
of sports. I love saying sports. It is Fox Sports Sunday.
He's Carry Rhodes. I'm Dan Bayer Shawfley done. After a
round of sixty five finishes at nine hunder par. No
(53:50):
one will catch him. He will be your twenty twenty
four Open champion and it will be his second major
of his career, second major of this season. There are
some parallels. Can I be historian dork here? Yes? Okay, okay.
There have been players that have had great final rounds.
(54:11):
One of the great final rounds that has talked about
is Justin Leonard sixty five in nineteen ninety seven at
Royal Troon to come back and end up winning the
Cleric Judd. For Leonard, it was his first and only
major of his career. Shoffley today a sixty five no
blumishes on a scorecard. His dad, who's been a huge,
(54:33):
huge part of his career there on site. His dad
was not there or anyone on the PGA in Louisville
just a couple of months ago. One of the main
stories his dad was at their place that they have
in Hawaii, but now there at Royal Troon reminds me
of Marco Mura when he won two majors, who won
(54:53):
the Masters in ninety eight and then ended up winning
the Open Championship. The reason the parallel is where I
think of Omira is because Mira won the one the Masters.
I didn't win the US Open but then won the
Open Championship. Because of the different schedule now with the
PGA in May, Shoffley wins the PGA, doesn't win the
US Open, then goes and wins the h wins the
(55:15):
Open Championship. Now, and so I think back to nineteen
ninety eight as well, And as I mentioned earlier, nineteen
ninety eight's most lasting memory is Justin Rose holding out
for Berdie on the eighteenth hole and Rose is going
to finish second at seven under par. So that was
pretty good.
Speaker 3 (55:31):
Yeah, you're so intertwined and so well versed in the
golf campra.
Speaker 2 (55:36):
I just said, I can watch, do you know, like
I've done this Sunday show about six or seven years
and our boss knows this. When the Masters is on,
I don't show up. I take off of work because
I don't want to be I don't feel like I
would serve the listener. And I'm also selfish in that way.
Is I just want to be fully immersed with what
(55:56):
is happening. And so we've done this and this is
a little bit of a newer window than what we've
had in the past. Have you know, done the afternoon
show and have done the morning show with this? For
us locally, it's nine to eleven East Coast noon to two.
It wouldn't be usually winding down. At this point, I
would either be having a show later today or it
would be home watching down the stretch run and today
(56:18):
it just hits smack dab in the middle of it.
Speaker 3 (56:20):
How do you feel spending that time, splitting that time
away from the screen, spinning it with me right now?
Speaker 2 (56:25):
How do you feel? Do you feel slided at all?
Speaker 1 (56:27):
No?
Speaker 2 (56:28):
Actually I feel yes, I feel really good. And actually
I feel that Carrie would give me the room if
it needed to break down a nerd out over dolphin. Honestly,
let's be real. Training camps are just getting underway. There's
not a lot going on right now. Baseball is getting
in this you know, the second half swing, and we're
getting ready for the Olympics. But so there at least
(56:49):
would be room for that to let that breathe.
Speaker 3 (56:51):
I love to see my running mate smile and be
happy and express himself over something he really loves.
Speaker 2 (56:57):
So I'm here for I appreciate that. Yeah, it's it's
great fun and the only bad thing about it is
that now you have to wait, you know what nine
months it is for another golf major to come around,
which will be the Masters in April. The rest of
this is mine so you know this is all. How
was the carry roads only show? You know, like that's
what that was the other joke And I was on vacation.
(57:19):
It was just gonna kick my name out. It was
just gonna be a good Carry Roads show, Carry and Friends,
and I couldn't do that. You see what I'm saying. Yeah,
I talked a big game, but it did not wind
up being still having a good time, but it's good
to be back with the crew here. Hey. Fox Sports
Radios teamed up with tireq dot com to give away
a set of four brand new tires valued ad up
(57:40):

(58:01):

by tirerec dot Com. The way tire buying should be
one NFL note before we get to mansion and easy
as one, two, three four. The Chicago Bears stated this
week Maddie Refluce that Caleb Williams would be taking snaps
in preseason games. They're preseason openers now less than two
(58:22):
weeks away with the Hall of Fame game. Wow. There
was also some mention of Caleb Williams contract in the
negotiations that took place. This has made our executive producer
Bo Benson a not happy guy. Is this just because
you're a Caleb Williams fan and you feel that the
light is not being shined brightly on Caleb Williams or
(58:43):
it's a negative light being shot and shown on him. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (58:47):
I feel like he kind of gets a lot of
stuff written about him that I don't think is totally true,
just knowing I've followed Caleb Williams literally since the day
he stepped on the field to take Oklahoma over Texas
in that insane game, and a lot of stuff that
gets written about him just isn't It just doesn't feel true,
And then it comes out later that it's not, but
nobody hears that. Like you still see people be like, well,
(59:08):
his dad said he was ever going to play for
Chicago even though he's in Chicago playing there, like sign.
Speaker 4 (59:15):
Like it's weird.
Speaker 8 (59:15):
So I saw that story that he was trying to
get the option for the franchise tag removed from his contract,
and like, that just doesn't sound true at all to me,
because rookie contracts in the NFL are pretty standard. Now,
yeah they're set, So like, that's just a weird thing
and there. I think certain writers probably have biases that
they want to see confirmed, and especially the writer that
(59:36):
pushed that story.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
I do think that that story is true, and to
be fair, right now, I have no reason to believe
that it wasn't true. People would be putting their careers
on the line, the journalistic integrity on the line. But
it has been the first time that something has been
made up. But I didn't think that that was the
greatest if that was the case, the greatest start to
(01:00:01):
a career. If that was the case, I actually don't
mind people being like, what can we do with ownership?
What can we do with this? And that? Because you're
trying to figure out ways to make more money. Maybe
this would have put more leverage on the Bears, but
I mean, I'm sorry, I was just gonna say, just
to have your first, you know, to have your first
taste of it. I don't think that would be great
for a Bears fan.
Speaker 3 (01:00:20):
And even on top of that, I mean the story
he's talking about right now, the story that leaked. I
don't know if this was intertwined, but he was trying
to get paid and have the money filtered to like
an LLC or something like.
Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
Just like report. I'm like, really, just all.
Speaker 3 (01:00:35):
I mean, our athletes are a little bit smarter and
a little bit more wiser with their money situation, so
I could see some maneuvering.
Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
But yeah, it's a lot of reporters do have their.
Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Own agendas at hand, and some are by the letter
of the law and do things the right way, but
there are some out there that do take some liberty.
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
So let me ask bo and then I'll get the
counterpoint response. Let's go for the the one side response,
and then Chris Purfett, you can give the dissenting point
of view. Do you think it's playoff or bust for
the Bears this year?
Speaker 4 (01:01:09):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (01:01:09):
I don't know if it's I don't think it's playoff
for Bust. I think it's playoff for bust, for Matt Eberflus.
I think if they don't make the playoffs this year
and Caleb looks good, I think he's going to get fired. Chris,
I don't know if it's playoff for bust for the team.
Speaker 2 (01:01:21):
Chris Prefett, do you think it's playoff or bus for
the Bears? As a Lions fan.
Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
I think for Chicago Bears fans, they are delusional enough
to believe that it is playoff or bus. But this
is a team that needs more than a few years
to even like at some point, something's got to break
in the NFC North, we can't be high on the
Lions and also high on Jordan Love and the Packers
in spite of how that season ends.
Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
Sink yeah. Yeah, No.
Speaker 4 (01:01:49):
The Vikings, I think most people are penciling them in
for fourth there. I don't know if they'll be fourth.
I don't as much talents as I see in Caleb Williams.
I don't know if like we can just immediately start
posting Chicago futures right away.
Speaker 8 (01:02:02):
I think there's a difference between winning the division and
making the wild card though.
Speaker 4 (01:02:06):
Yes, that's the thing.
Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
Yeah, the wild card is definitely attainable, and I think
that that is a must considering what you have put around.
And again, this team won seven games last year. Yes,
and so it's you know, you have the number one pick,
but again, you weren't the worst team in the NFL.
You won seven games, or defense was really good the
second half of the year. You've made noticeable improvements on offense,
(01:02:28):
not only with your wide receivers, you've also added Gerald
Everett to go along with Cole Comet. Yes, the backfield
DeAndre Swift. I do think that it's if they don't
make the playoffs that is a disappointment.
Speaker 4 (01:02:40):
I just I just think it can be an incredibly
competitive division. But we also do these sometimes each year
as like, wow, three teams from this division play of
playoffs and usually just ends up not playing out that way.
And I feel like if any team's going to be
left without a without a seat at that table, if
we only get two teams of the out of the North,
(01:03:01):
it'll probably be the Bears. Sure, no faults of their own,
they can still have a decent season. It's just it's
just how the math of NFL playoffs plays out.
Speaker 3 (01:03:09):
I mean, I'm the most sad and the most upset
about that team. I think about all the talent they
just put around Caleb Williams. I wonder how Justin Fields
feels right now, Like even though he wasn't great, he
had good moments and he could have been really a
much better quarterback with the weapons they have around. So
I'll look at it from that perspective, like, you bring
(01:03:30):
all these guys in for this guy.
Speaker 4 (01:03:32):
Sorry, are we talking about Justin Fields or Mitch Trubisky
because same thing happened with him?
Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Oh yeah, no, right, it's crazy. I think that is
another discussion for another day. And the good thing is
is the Bears will play that standalone Hall of Fame
game against another team with huge expectations, the Houston Texans,
in less than two weeks, so we will have an
opportunity to dive into that. We're gonna dive into Mancy
Belanios's update, and then Carrie Rose is in the hot
seat for easy as one, two, three, four, Moncey, what's
(01:03:58):
just going on?
Speaker 5 (01:03:59):
Well, I'm gonna start with Xander Shoffley, who had never
won a major championship before this year.
Speaker 2 (01:04:04):
Now he's got two.
Speaker 5 (01:04:06):
He shot a six under sixty five in the final
round of one hundred and fifty second Open.
Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
He's gonna win it at nine.
Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
Under par overall. Justin Rose also done for the day,
but he ended two shots back. Still out there are
Tristan Lawrence and Billy Horschell, who are through seventeen holes
but they are six under. So Xander Schoffley has won
the opening the fourth round. It continues Scotti Scheffler, who
was the outright favorite, the outright favorite. He ended one
(01:04:36):
under par overall or one under one under par overall. Yes,
he was won over for the final round, So congratulations
to Xander Schaffley.
Speaker 4 (01:04:44):
We're supposed to.
Speaker 5 (01:04:44):
Have baseball going on right now, but like always, there's
rain delay in Minnesota between the Brewers and the Twins.
But it's a full slight of baseball, including the Baseball
Hall of Fame induction, which is gonna start at one
thirty eastern from Cooperstown. Adrian Beltret Todd Helton, Joe Mauer,
and Jim Leland are going to be inducted. The Braves
announced that All Star left hander Max Freed was placed
(01:05:06):
on the fifteen day il with a nerve inflammation in
his forearm. The team announced today another pitcher on the
injury list.
Speaker 4 (01:05:13):
We were talking about that earlier today.
Speaker 5 (01:05:15):
And in the NBA, the Boston Celtics and Ford sam
Hauser have agreed on a four year, forty five million
dollar contract extension.
Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Back to you guys, thank you very much, MANSI. The
two guys that I was really pulling the most for
at the Open Championship at the start of the day
finished tied for second, and that is Justin Rosen Billy Horschell.
Hoorschell with a birdie on eighteen by coming up two
shots short of Xander Schoffley. As now the Open is
complete and the Champion Golfer of the Year ceremony will
(01:05:46):
be coming up as they award Xander Schoffley the Claret Jug.
There is no Claret Jug, but there is pride. Is
Carrie Rhodes tries to conquer easy is one, two, three four.
He's got three lifelines at his disposal. Chris Pophettebo Benson
and Monty Belanos over under today. I think I've made
this pretty easy, to be honest with you, eight and
(01:06:07):
a half. The very I'm easing myself in eight in
a half. Yeah, you got to get nine or ten
to hit the over on what you're expected to do. God,
all right, let's do it. The two categories Olympics and Baseball.
That's it. Two Olympics questions to baseball questions, Carrie, Name
one of two of the next two cities to host
(01:06:29):
the Summer Olympic Games after Paris. After Paris, Yes, one
of the two sites of the Olympic Games. I would
say here, right, I would say, yeah, La, say your
final answer show me Los Angeles twenty twenty eight. Absolutely
told you it was pretty easy. Do you know twenty
(01:06:53):
thirty two? Do you know? Absolutely not? I just know
the one that's that's Brisbane, Australia.
Speaker 8 (01:06:58):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
And then when the games were in Sydney, they were
later on, they were like in September, but these will
be held in the summer of twenty thirty two.
Speaker 4 (01:07:07):
Technically like different seasons down there.
Speaker 2 (01:07:10):
Yeah, that's right. It is name two of three on
question number two. Teams that Adrian Beltray played for other
than the Los Angeles Dodgers. Beltra goes into the Hall
of Fame today. Figure the Dodger part would be pretty easy.
Name two of the three other teams that Adrian Beltray
played for in his career. You've got all your lifelines available.
(01:07:33):
I'm going to go Mansei here.
Speaker 5 (01:07:34):
Okay, Texas for sure?
Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
Yes, yes, that's true.
Speaker 4 (01:07:41):
Right, yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
And then.
Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
Beltray Beltre.
Speaker 4 (01:07:48):
It was like Dodgers obviously.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (01:07:51):
It says like Texas for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
Anybody else? Seattle, both Seattle, This is Seattle. Two final
final answers. Ye, show me the Texas Rangers. Eight years
as a member of the Rangers. Show me the Seattle Mariners,
five years in the Pacific Northwest, and yes, seven years
of the Dodgers. In one year with the Boston Red Sox.
Speaker 5 (01:08:14):
Oh, I know what I had Red Sox and I
thought it was crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:08:17):
Oh that makes you feel better. I should I should
have said it. Carry is three for three right now
and easy as one, two, three four. So far there's
been no cheating because there hasn't been a need to cheat,
all right, Name three of four countries that have hosted
the most summer and winter Winter Olympic Games combined. So
(01:08:39):
when you combine hosting a Summer Games and a Winter Games,
I need three of the four countries that have hosted
the most, So the US. I would say, USA, So
the US, I'm gonna go, Chris, Chris, what do you
got to help USA? Yeah? I know that one for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:08:58):
I'm going to say, see now it's poisoned here because
I was about to say France. But also I've got
Steve here yelling France as well. I want I'm being
up closed. I'm being upfront and truthful about this, so
Dan doesn't like yell at me. I had France in
my head before Steve said, is anything.
Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
We're going France, Dan, I'm gonna get Steve a part
time job now in his show.
Speaker 4 (01:09:25):
And I think the other one I would probably say,
and I'm this is where it starts to fray a
little bit, because I know Japan has had two, Greece
has had two, but there are only summer. I would
between Tokyo and Nagoya. I would probably say Japan as
(01:09:48):
your as your third option.
Speaker 2 (01:09:50):
I go Japan, Okay, So you happy with that? USA,
France and Japan. Yes, all right, show me the United
States nine times they've to the summer Winter Games. Show
me France six times. Yeah, you can do it in Paris,
you can do it in the Alps. Yeah, the whole
deal and to keep your perfect game intact show me. Yes,
(01:10:16):
Japan has made the list four times.
Speaker 4 (01:10:19):
Yeah, I think was on there as well for a
winter supporo. I think it was for like the seventies.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
Nagano hosted in nineteen ninety eight. We obviously know Tokyo
just hosted. Yes, Tokyo also hosted in nineteen sixty four,
and Siporo in nineteen seventy two. Nice. So there's are
your four? The other one Italy, Yes, the Italians. Actually,
you know what. Technically Italy would be hosting in twenty
(01:10:48):
twenty six, so that would be their fourth time doing so.
But you got the top three, so you have a
perfect score. Final one. All right, for a perfect score?
Here again, back to Major League Baseball Baseball. Four of
the five teams in baseball with the highest winning percentage
this season entering play today. So basically, I just want
to know who are the five best teams in baseball
(01:11:08):
according to that winning percentage. I'll go Phillies, I'll go Orioles. Yeah,
you were really stretching, Manci giving up big oh oh.
I didn't even know.
Speaker 3 (01:11:23):
Yeah, I know, and she wasn't doing Ohio either yes, Oh, I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
Righting, So you see me, I didn't carry. You would
never cheat, You would never cheat.
Speaker 8 (01:11:37):
Carrie Warriors, drops, Phillies Orioles?
Speaker 2 (01:11:46):
Are the the Guardians? Record up? I know they're up there?
I think the Guardians? And uh, why is Chris Purfett
lining up in offensive lineman position? Is that? Why is
he tried to be a guard Is that what he's
trying to do? To give you that hint where I'm kidding,
I'm kidding.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
And I'm I mean, uh, would it be the I mean,
the Yankees are teetering up there?
Speaker 2 (01:12:14):
But what's the last one? Guy? Would you say? Yankees?
Speaker 8 (01:12:17):
Are you asking you to help? I would not say
the Yankees because they haven't won a game and I
know they know they're It's still like I would I
would think that maybe the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
No, they're below.
Speaker 5 (01:12:29):
What is the question again, Dan, give me the question
because there's some there's some here.
Speaker 4 (01:12:33):
Four of the.
Speaker 2 (01:12:34):
Five teams, so the highest winning percentage this.
Speaker 5 (01:12:37):
Season with the highest winning percentage entering today?
Speaker 4 (01:12:40):
Can I okay?
Speaker 5 (01:12:40):
So it might be the Yankees?
Speaker 1 (01:12:42):
Hold on?
Speaker 4 (01:12:42):
I think hold on, Dan gave you a hint?
Speaker 2 (01:12:45):
What did I?
Speaker 4 (01:12:48):
Yes, you did.
Speaker 2 (01:12:49):
What is that?
Speaker 4 (01:12:50):
You have the Phillies, the Orioles.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
I have the Phillies, Orioles, Guardians for sure?
Speaker 8 (01:12:53):
Okay, yeah, Drew carry Yeah, Guardians, I got Guardian.
Speaker 2 (01:12:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
One more. I legitimately either the Brewers or the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
I think the Dodgers are under the Yankees.
Speaker 4 (01:13:06):
I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
There you are. I promise, I'm a Yankee fan. I
don't know. I'm gonna need a final answer. Where are
you going? I'll go Yankees? All right? Show me the Phillies, yes,
numero uno, a winning percentage of six thirty three. Show
me the Baltimore Orioles winning percentage of six twelve, show
(01:13:29):
me the Cleveland Guardians winning percentage of six oh eight,
and show me the New York Yankees five ninety. I'm
on it today, if it makes you feel any better.
The Dodgers have a winning percentage of five eighty six.
That would be the fifth best runner.
Speaker 3 (01:13:49):
Right.
Speaker 4 (01:13:52):
The Yankees is here.
Speaker 2 (01:13:53):
So the Brewers were sitting right there at five seventy one,
knocking on the door. Sometimes you think I'll throw my
teams in there, but not today. If it was easy
as one, two, three, four and five, then we could
have gotten to that point, but Carry Roads a perfect
game of ten in easy as one, two, three, four,
(01:14:14):
which means next week we are tighten the screws. He's
carry Roads the All Pro. I'm Dan Byer, and now
homework is due at the start of the show on
the heels of Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. Not happening
last night. We know it's scheduled for November, but what
is the matchup or the showdown that we wish we
(01:14:34):
would have had but never had in professional sports? Rack
your mind to hit them up at Carrie twenty five
Roads or find me at Dan Byer on Fox and
the Crew ways in as well. That's next here on
Fox Sports Radio. Oh, I could have been It's Fox
Sports Sunday. He's Carry Roads the All Pro. I'm Dan Byer.
Told your homework is due. Start of the show. We
(01:14:56):
wanted you to rack your mind. What matchups? What did
you want to see? What were we hoping to see?
What were we in line to see? But just never
never came to fruition because of an upset or a
play or something like that. That's that's what we want
to know. What never came to fruition and before I
(01:15:18):
go around the room and ask everyone for their for
their nominees. Ron has tweeted in I love it when
at Dan Byron Fox talks golf on FSR. Thank you
very much, Ron, thank you very much. I appreciate that
I am. I hope that you were right there with
me and watching this this great event as it comes
(01:15:39):
down the stretch. There's still some golf to be played
that we be playing in the Olympics. And maybe fittingly enough,
Xander Schoffley won the gold when it was last contested
at the Tokyo Games, so now he will enter these
Olympics as the reigning gold medalist and now two time
major champion. All right, carry rhads. Do you have anything
(01:16:03):
come to mind when I say, oh, it would have
been great if we would have seen that. I know
Chris Purfett and Bob Benson have theirs. Manzi Blanios has theirs.
Is there something that you look back at and say,
if only we could have seen that matchup in that scenario,
it would have been great. Let me let me get
(01:16:25):
a little bit more time. Can you go? Can you
go to the right here to start? Okay, and again
one entry per person and then afterwards we can go
around Wait, wait, what is Manzi Mazi?
Speaker 8 (01:16:37):
We have a we have a non sports related conundrum
right now. Okay, Joe Biden just dropped out of the
presidential race, so I knew that was happening.
Speaker 4 (01:16:48):
Is no longer seeking reelection.
Speaker 8 (01:16:49):
He officially dropped out, so I okay, yeah he put
this is Sean Strani just tweeted it. So now you
know it's true breaking nude there it is. That's and
and wow, this.
Speaker 6 (01:17:03):
Is so we weren't sure if this was breaking news of.
Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
Yes, I'm glad that you said. I'm glad that you
said it. Yes, absolutely ahead.
Speaker 5 (01:17:16):
Joe Biden has tweeted a letter to fellow Americans with
drawing from the presidential race.
Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
He wrote a whole letter about it. Okay, you can
see he did it.
Speaker 4 (01:17:28):
He tweeted, yes.
Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
So do you want to read the letter?
Speaker 4 (01:17:32):
All of it?
Speaker 5 (01:17:33):
I mean I can. It's just not short.
Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
Yeah, yeah, it's a page. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:17:37):
Okay, my fellow Americans.
Speaker 9 (01:17:39):
Over the past three and a half years, we have
made great progress as a nation. Today, America has the
strongest economy in the world. We've made historic investments in
rebuilding our nation in lowering prescription drug costs for seniors,
and in expanding affordable healthcare to a record number of Americans.
We've provided critically needed care to a million veterans exposed
to toxic substances past the first gun safety law in
(01:18:00):
thirty years, appointed the first African American women to the
Supreme Court, and passed the most significant climate legislation in
the history of the world. America has never been better
and has never been has never been better positioned to
lead the way we are than we are today. I
know none of this could have been done without you,
the American people. Together we overcame a once in a
century pandemic and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.
(01:18:24):
We've protected and preserved our democracy, and we've revitalized and
straightened our alliances around the world. It has been the
greatest honor of my life to serve as your president.
And while it has been my intention to seek re election,
I believe it is in the best interests of my
party and the country for me to stand down and
to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for
the remainder of my term. I will speak to the
(01:18:45):
nation later this week in more detail about my decision.
Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
For now, let me express my deepest.
Speaker 5 (01:18:50):
Gratitude to all of those who have worked so hard
to see.
Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
Me re elected.
Speaker 9 (01:18:54):
I want to thank Vice President Kamala Harris for being
an extraordinary partner in all this work. And let me
express my heartfelt appreciation to the American people for the
faith and trust you have placed in me.
Speaker 5 (01:19:03):
I believe today what I always have, that there is
nothing America can't do when we do it together. We
just have to remember we are the United States of America.
Speaker 4 (01:19:13):
Joe Biden there, it is.
Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
The breaking, breaking news. Wow, that Trump's Trump's everything that
we've been talking about. What a wild and crazy summer
it has been, and now this news. Thank you for that. Manci.
I'll tell you what. We're going to leave the Biden
stuff at that. I do want your homework due, so
(01:19:36):
let's just make it rapid fire. Okay, Chris Purfet, what
did you have as your matchup that you have very easy?
Speaker 4 (01:19:42):
Twenty ten's Nick Saban's Alabama versus Chip Kelly's Oregon. We
almost had it in twenty fourteen, Ohio State ruined those plans.
But for so many years it was we want Alabama
Oregon unstoppable force and move along.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
That Ohio state ruined Oregon. That I say that with
this is Bo Benson.
Speaker 4 (01:20:01):
Kobe versus Lebron, Chiefs versus Rams.
Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
Oh jeez all, you got two in.
Speaker 5 (01:20:06):
It was yours Kobe versus Lebron in twenty eleven with
Miami Heat Lakers. That's what I was thinking when the
MAVs won and they came out of nowhere.
Speaker 2 (01:20:13):
Yeah, that's right, that's right. How about do you get one? Yeah?
Mine was It's not even about this exciting that Rogers
Brady super Bowl, Bill's Niners super Bowl from the nineties.
It's been Fox Sports Sunday
