Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Jim Nantz and Tony Romo are in Denver, Kevin Burkhart
and Tom Brady are in La taking in Lions Rams.
But the game that you and I and everyone cares
about is in the Pacific Northwest, and that's where Philip
Rivers is playing for the Indianapolis Colts today against the Seahawks.
It's one of five games in this late window Rivers
(00:27):
so far. Yeah, three of eight on the day as
they are one quarter in for thirty one yards. Yeah, Dan,
if I was to tell you that.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
There were two quarterbacks in the class of two thousand
graduating high school heading off to play college football. And
you know, I said, you know, one went on to
have a really, really good career at quarterback. The other
one may be switched positions and played something else, but
also had a good career.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
And to think.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
About that year two thousand and where we are now
in twenty twenty five, and we're talking about one of
those guys playing quarterback in the game today and the
other one right now talking about him in the studio today.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
I ain't doing exactly what you're talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah, that happened, Dan, me and Philip Rivers came out
the same year in high school.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
We both played a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
He went on NC State, I went to Louisville obviously
switched positions. He had a great career. I had a
great career. Different different for different reasons. But right now
I'm watching him on my TV in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Play a game. Dan, it's crazy, And so were you
guys the top two quarterbacks? Well, I was up there.
I wouldn't say that it was too cut. He probably
was one, sure, yeah, yeah he was number he's I mean,
Philip Rivers had I had a career at NC State
and your career is nothing to sneeze at, for sure.
But crazy to think, yes, on this day that we
(01:45):
are seeing Philip Rivers play in an NFL game. I mean,
you go back and look at older highlights stout again.
Rivers drafted in two thousand and four, didn't take over
the reins until two thousand and six. But still, like
when you're looking back at twenty twelve, twenty thirteen, around
that time of the peak, it's a long long time ago.
(02:07):
I think it's just the being five years away and
it being an option. That's the crazy portion. Of it,
And I think that's a conversation that we're gonna you know,
we're gonna have. But if Tom Brady wanted to play
until his mid forties, played till he was forty five,
So it's the age of Philip Rivers isn't as crazy
as the time away to get back and do it?
Speaker 3 (02:26):
I agree, And I think about it again, I say,
right now at my age, and I didn't say what
my age is yet, but you can probably guess.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
It's close to the same as.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Philip market And I don't if I sit down on
the count's too hard, I don't want to get up
from that. So I'm really watching this game to see,
not the outcome who wins. I want to see how
many times Philip Rivers gets hit and he can get
up off the ground, because that's insane.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
That's an insane proposition in itself. Did you did you
guys see that the start of the game was delayed?
Did you guys see that in seat Monty? Did you
did you anything about that? Did you hear anything you
guys hear about that at the start of the game
in Seattle? So yeah, So, as Philip Rivers was coming
out of the field, one of the tennis balls on
his walker came off, and so the game was delayed
(03:13):
because they had to put it back on the walker.
Oh man, that's how. By the way, these old jokes
are going to be going on throughout the afternoon here,
and for the record, I am older than Philip Rivers,
but just play along and have fun. I think that
the conversation about Philip Rivers through the week has gone
(03:34):
a lot of different ways. But one place where it
is gone that I think is it's been actually a
sort spot in my mind, it's been the development of quarterbacks.
But I don't think that's what this is. I don't
know how you can if you're the Indianapolis Colts, be
down to your fourth string quarterback, which basically that's what
(03:55):
Philip Rivers is, with still a chance to make the playoffs.
Like we've seen the Browns start five different quarterbacks in
the season before, but the Browns weren't in it. They
weren't in it to the end. They weren't trying to
make the playoffs at that time. They're just running guys
out there to run guys out there. And that's why
I think that this is different. I don't think it's
as much attrition where I do think that that is
(04:18):
a problem in the NFL, I just don't think it
fits in this situation with Indianapolis. Yeah, this is what's
for Indy is all in. They went all in.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
They traded draft picks, they brought in players that they
thought were going to elevate them in this season. They
were all in to win it. So when you get
to this point where all your options have been exhausted,
then you start doing things that are probably outside of
the norm or things that you know are outside of
the box forward thinking, and you think when you're bringing
a guy like Philip Rivers who've had some success obviously
(04:47):
been away for a while, but no the playbook and
you don't have to actually coach him up on what's
going on. I mean, I think you swing for the
fences and take that chance. And right now, this is
what that looks like. So this is a.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Perfect storm scenario as well if it was even if
the Chargers like, you're not going back to Philip Rivers.
The reason that Philip Rivers was able to do this
with the Colts was because he once played for them. Yeah,
and their coach was once his offensive coordinator and he
knew the offense and he stayed in con quarterback coach
as well. Yeah, yeah, yeah there. So like the Jets
(05:21):
going to Brady Cook today, like Philip Rivers wouldn't go
to New York.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
No.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
And by the way, Philip Rivers is not coming out
again of retirement for a team that's three and eleven, right, Like,
that's not happening. So the Colts actually have a chance
that would make it worthwhile to come back for. And
that's why we see Philip Rivers playing today. You've seen
him throw the football a couple of times that he
has done it. Yes, depleted a few passes, some have
(05:47):
kept short. What have you noticed about Philip Rivers in
the way that he's throwing the football.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Yeah, he has no velocity to throw the football in
that league, obviously, you got to have velocity. You got
to get it out to the numbers. He was always
an inside the numbers guy kind of anyway, so he
didn't have the strongest arm. His his skill set was anticipation.
So I think we've seen that. We've seen him anticipate
some throws. He's been a little early and he's gonna
get it out there. But if he's gonna have to
fit this in some tight windows. Is not going to
(06:13):
be a good day. So if I'm actually the Seattle
defensive backs, I'm sitting on stuff. I'm gonna I'm gonna
see if he can beat us over the top, which
I don't think that's gonna be part of the game plan,
but I want to test out. I want to find
out and see. He threw a pass to Jonathan Taylor.
I think it was his first pass of the game
that was maybe he would say back shoulder, maybe I
(06:35):
would say underthrown, but it was to that point, but
just to see him, and it looked like he was
throwing off of both feet in that scenario to get
it downfield. So it was a little but it looked
like the same Philip Rivers throwing the football in the
way that he throws the football. Yet little the little uh,
the little the little jump shot, little shotplit thinger. Yeah,
it's always It's always been a way too, which is
(06:57):
insane that that never got I guess if it is
not broken, don't fix it. But it's almost like Regie Miller,
I guess, don't fix it, right.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Yeah, absolutely, And maybe the most important numbers for the
culture right now is they're tied up at three with
the Seahawks early in the second quarter. We'll continue to
give you updates. They also did find Philip Ridver's readers
that he dropped so he could read the wristband. That
happened as well. Thank you very much for that one.
Thank you all of these old jokes. So we'll be
(07:23):
that's too on throughout the day here at end Zone
Radio on Fox Sports Radio. The Lions are driving right now.
They're taking on the Rams. We mentioned Kevin Burkhart Tom
Brady on the call for the game on Fox. The
Lions starting the day on the outside looking in of
the NFC playoff picture. But a seven to seven ball
game is the Lions now facing a third in goal
(07:44):
again inside the Rams ten yard line down to about
the six yard lines.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
That's a huge game here between the Lions and the Rams.
Obviously for different reasons. The Rams are trying to lock
up that number one seed and you know throughout the playoffs,
and I mean and if they lose, can easily fall
to a second third in that division. So like the
games are so important then with the Lions, obviously you
at Chicago win earlier, so they got to keep up
and keep pacing.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
So the Lions here, don't get it on fourth down,
kick the field goal here, go for it, kick the
field goal, which he wouldn't do normally, which I'm excited.
I'm excited Dan. If there's obviously when these two teams
get together, there's always the talk about the trade. Yeah,
of course of the trade, and I'm curious to hear
Chris Purfetts covers the Lions. I'm curious on his perspective,
(08:33):
who do you think won the trade? If you had
to pick a side, Lions or Rams, who won the trade? Well,
I guess the easy way hold.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Of course, the easy way to say that is the
Rams won the championship, So I would say the Rams
won it. But you also, with golf, you got so
much excitement and so much winning also in that same spam.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
But I don't know, Chris, what do you think? It's
neck and neck.
Speaker 5 (08:58):
But like, ultimately at the end of the day, not
only did the Rams win a Super Bowl off the trade,
but now they're in a position for a second Super
Bowl run. Because I don't think that I don't know
if I expected Stafford to play this long to keep
going this long playing at this level. You kind of
expected Stafford, like the injuries would catch up with him,
that how banged up he's been. But no, he's if
(09:19):
he comes out of this game. We the interception to
start this game was rough, but like I'm not writing
him off from the MVP on that, like they he
can still play awesome. He still is no look throwing
DeVante Adams at this age. So I think on the
basis that you've had this longevity out of Stafford for
the Rams, I do have to give the edge to
the Rams in that.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
It's It's interesting because I was always the Rams were
the big winner out of all of this. The trade
allowed Detroit to get some key pieces right, and as
the deal that they did, and one of those drafts
brought them Jamior Gibbs. When they had the two first
round picks, I would say this, I didn't think it
(09:59):
was close, and now it's close. Yeah, And so that
tells me I think that the Lions won it. And
considering where the Lions were as a franchise, I was thinking,
are we saying aus shucks? Matthew Stafford could have done
this in Detroit? I don't think that he could have
no because of the assets that also got in the
trade for Stafford.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
Those were a multi year trade that was multiple drafts
that trade impacted.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Yes, yeah, so like in that aspect, it like the
trade had to happen for Detroit to reach their to
reach their peak, and their peak may have been that
NFC championship game a couple of years ago against the Niners.
That may be the case, but to consider where they
came from the success, and it's all across the board,
and it's not just Jared Goff, but for what it
(10:47):
did to the Lions organization I think is part of
the conversation because it's close. I actually think that the
Lions won the trade.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Oh those points, And you're right because you would think
just obviously in the elementary look at it, right, like,
oh Stafford, if he was on this team with the Lions,
he would do the same thing. But that wouldn't be
the team. And so that point alone just makes it
even tighter.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Dan, Yeah, yeah, Hey, we may decide at the end.
I mean, if they rams come back and win this
game as the field goal is good, maybe I'll have
a different story. We'll find out, all right. Philip Rivers
and the Colts have the football back first and ten,
tied up at three with the Seahawks. They're near midfield,
just underway in the second quarter. Packers and Broncos right
now six nothing, Green Bay, early in the second quarter
(11:31):
of that game in Denver. Very nice day in Denver today.
It is like fifties sixties. You're seeing a lot of
cold weather everywhere, but not in the Rocky Mountains. And
the forty nine Ers on a Christian McCaffrey touchdown run,
have extended their lead against the Titans. That's a fourteen
to three game. While the Saints and Panthers play in
New Orleans right now, early in the second quarter, Carolina
(11:53):
up seven nothing in that contest. Be sure to check

Speaker 8 (12:57):
Lions and Rams houkahs aligned in the backfield, one of
Kyron Williams. He takes the handoff, leaves for the middle
goes in untouched.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Kyron's tuts in for a touchdown.
Speaker 9 (13:08):
The Rams re spawned an extra point can.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
Tie it back to Dan Byer and Carry Rhoads.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
That was on the Rams radio network and it just
happened again. Kyron Williams into the end zone one yard
touchdown run. So the Rams have taken a fourteen to
ten lead on the Lions as the team's play midway
through the second quarter in Los Angeles, one of five
games in this late window the Colts were going forward
on fourth down. They didn't get it, but they actually
(13:36):
moved prior to the snap, so they had to settle
for a field goal. It's good Colts and Philip Rivers
leading the Seahawks right now six to three with eight
twenty six to go until halftime. Denver gets into the
end zone on a boat Nick's touchdown pass. Seven to six,
Broncos over the Packers Green Bay. Facing a third and
three from their own thirty two yard line, Cam Wartstone
a touchdown pass to pull the Titans a little closer
(13:57):
to San Francisco fourteen to ten lead with about five
and a half minutes to go until halftime in that contest,
and the Panthers lead the Saints seven to nothing, but
New Orleans driving and now in a golden goal situation
nearing halftime, about three and a half minutes left to go,
so the Saints and it's a big game for the
(14:18):
Panthers like these other games are big year, yes, but
for the Panthers and what's at stake the game, considering
the Buccaneers loss on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Huge we already know only one team's gonna win that
make the playoffs in his division, so whoever wins is
gonna be the representative. So they got to win every game.
And right now, you know, New Orleans just got back
in it.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Earlier today, the Houston Texans took care of the Arizona
Cardinals with ease and the Houston Texans becoming one of
the sneaky teams in the AFC. Let's focus on that win.
Speaker 10 (14:47):
Now it's time for the NFL on Fox Focus.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Mark slurre joining us as he was the analyst for
today's forty to twenty victory the Texans over the Arizona Cardinals.
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Mark, welcome, great stuck to you again.
Let's dive in. Let's dive into this game. Today c
J Stroud three touchdown passes. There seemed to be a
bond again with Nicocollins. What makes those two so special
(15:16):
when they're able to connect like they were today.
Speaker 11 (15:19):
Yeah, Well, Nico Collins is six four to twenty two
and can run like the wind. Yeah, he's one of
those guys, a lot of tough in cutting routes in
the middle during traffic. He'll catch it in traffic and
then he's running away from guys and right off the
bat and second play of the game, they hit one
for fifty six sifty seven yards for a touchdown, more
fifty plus yard touchdowns than any our fifty yard plus
(15:42):
yard pilas than any other team or any other player
in the league right now. I think that was his
eleventh today since twenty twenty three. So, guys, is a
big time player. Dalton Schultz was big today. And I
just thought CJ. Stroud was so good today from the
standpoint of managing the game, which he was. To man
(16:04):
he was on Sunday night against Kana City Chiefs. He
was I think he was credited for three or four throwaways,
but I counted about eight or ten, and just understanding him, Man,
my defense is really good. If I don't put us
in harm's way, man, we're gonna win a lot of
football games. And he got down at the end of
the half on a third down and long situation, scrambled
(16:25):
got them about seven and eight yards so they could
attempt a field goal try at the very end of
the half, and it was a you know, it was
a three point play by him, just understanding, hey, man,
I'm not going to force the ball anywhere. I'm going
to go ahead and scramble around and give my team
an opportunity to kick this field goal. So just a
lot of really good decisions today by CJ. Stroud.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Mark, That's all I was going to hit on a
little bit as well. I think CJ. Stroud is starting
to find his footing again. There was times earlier in
the year where he didn't trust in his old line,
but seemed like he's starting to find that trust again.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
But also using his legs as well. I know he
doesn't like to run.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
I know he doesn't like to He likes to escape,
to extend to play, but not get downfield and get
first downs. But I think with him understanding the way
his defense is planned right now, I think he's finally
understanding he's going.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
To have to use that. But I want to talk
about Juar Jordan today.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Obviously, the mystery man that comes in off the streets
and runs fifteen times for one hundred and one yards.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Mark.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
You know, he went to Louisville my school, so I'm
excited to talk about him.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Did you watch him a little bit?
Speaker 11 (17:22):
Al Absolutely, he was really good today. And you know,
unlike a lot of young backs, a lot of young
backs want to pop it out you know, want to
jump outside, want to do some things, and oftentimes it
ends up putting me in harm's way. I thought he
was decisive, put his foot in the ground and got
positive yards on a consistent basis, And so I thought
that was really cool. Man got his opportunity and made
(17:45):
the most of it. Had well over he had one
hundred yards plus rushing, you know, some receptions as well.
So I thought he was exceptional today. He was really good.
And I thought this offensive line. You mentioned me on
offensive line earlier. This was the fourth game in a
row where they've had the same starting five guys, so
(18:06):
communication was much better. Today. They're starting to gell a
little bit. And they had a guest coach on Friday
at practice work with them for about a five or
ten minute period. Who was that guest coach? Yours? Truly?
I showed them how to defense, justice, whip ass, to
take names, and obviously I am the reason that they
(18:30):
got one hundred yard back today without question.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Oh Mark, you're taking all the credit on that one, one.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Hundred percent of the credit.
Speaker 11 (18:37):
Taught those tools how to block people, and look what happened.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
If they go on to win it all, you should
get a ring, right, Like, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
You know what, I.
Speaker 11 (18:45):
Didn't even think about that. That's a great idea. I
should get a.
Speaker 2 (18:48):
Ring before we let you go. Mark, I do want
to get your thoughts on what Philip Rivers is doing
today as a former player. What's the most shocking thing
about Philip Rivers starting under center for the Colts after
five years away from the game.
Speaker 11 (19:06):
That he looks like a guard? That was that was shocking. Uh,
just you know, just the fact that that. And I
said this on the Sinking Drew podcast and you can
grab it on YouTube or wherever you grab it. Just
last week, I was like, it's just it's basically a
(19:27):
statement on quarterbacking in this league right now. Never before
has there been more arm talent and less guys that
can play quarterback. Yep, And and so like, you can't
be you're telling me nobody's there is not one guy
on anybody's practice squad that you can go pil for
and say that guy gives us a chance to win.
(19:49):
So we had to go after a guy. Now. Obviously,
he and Stike in the head coach are in contact
every week, and you know Philip leans on him from
a offensive perspective, so he knows, you know, he knows
what they're running. But still so, like I said, it
is a it's a statement on just the pathetic nature
(20:09):
of how are we developing quarterbacks out of the college game.
It's not the college fault, because you know that's how
you win, but but they're just not ready to play
at the at the professional level at this point.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Mark Slaira on the call for that Texans win over
the Cardinals that you saw today on Fox. Mark, thanks
so much, Mary Christmas. We'll talk to again soon. Appreciate it. Likewise, Yeah,
take care goo with Martin, he's carry roads. I'm Dan Byer.
I don't think there was a lot to talk about
on the Cardinals side of things. No, it's it's over
and done for Arizona. There three and eleven on the
season after the loss today. But Jacobe Brissett three touchdown passes,
(20:46):
Trey McBride filling the stat sheet, one of the better
tight ends, twelve, one of the better, maybe the best
in the National Football League. Twelve catches, one hundred and
thirty four yards and two scores. But they all just
they're just empty numbers when you are three and eleven
on a season.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
Yeah, it's it's yeah, it's his empty numbers. I mean,
you know, you know, Brissette's gonna move the ball down
the phill, he's gonna operate, he's going to get your yards.
He's going to score a couple of times in the game,
but they're not going to win. And that's just where
they are, and he's carry roads. I'm Dan Byer. Let's
go to the news desk. Moncey Belano is giving us
the latest change today at lumin Field.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
They had to make bigger play clock so Philip Rivers
could see them from further away. That's just like I said,
that's my third old guy, Joe, that's the day again.
I'm older than Philip Rivers, but I feel like today
it's apropos.
Speaker 12 (21:29):
All right, Monty, that was funny. That one was funny.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
You got Dan? Sorry, Mons, No, you're good. Well, there
was there's more.
Speaker 12 (21:39):
I'm sure. I'm sure he's got them.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Ready.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
Did you even hear my walker one earlier that the
game was delayed?
Speaker 4 (21:44):
I told you I can't hear on one ear because
because I lost my voice on my ears like.
Speaker 12 (21:48):
Clogged, so I need you to yell at me. I'm
the old person today, yell in this ear.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
What I need. What I need you to do then
is check the podcast out again radio.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
Yet you can get it fastball down medal for you
right there?
Speaker 1 (22:01):
All right?
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Yeah, speaking of Uncle Phil, the Colts du lead the
Seahawks right now six to three with a backwing Uncle Phil.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Are we going, old man Rivers? What is it like?
Are we gonna? Are we gonna do both?
Speaker 11 (22:12):
What?
Speaker 12 (22:12):
I think we can do many those two right now?
Let's see what else we can think of.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Uncle Phil is at the top.
Speaker 12 (22:18):
It's easy, Yes, it's easy. It's nostalgic, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
It's a spot Uncle Phil, old man Philip Rivers whatever,
five of.
Speaker 12 (22:26):
Eleven for forty two yards.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
He has been sacked once, I think so Hopefully he's
not hurting too much just yet.
Speaker 12 (22:32):
But the Colts have the lead right now, six to three.
Halfway through the second quarter.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
Late in the second quarter, the forty nine ers lead
the Tins fourteen to ten, but they are in the
red zone. Cam Moore did have a nice touchdown where
he connected with gunner Helm to cut the Tins deficit
to just four. The Saints have tied the game. It
looks like against the Panthers at home. There's still two
minutes to go in the first half of this one.
The Lions in the end zone again, Jared Goff connecting
with Aman Ross Saint Brown for a second time.
Speaker 12 (22:57):
Can you give it to Jimi or Gibbs please? Thank you.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
Seventy to fourteen is the score against the Rams. Halfway
through the second quarter. Broncos in the end zone. So
now they have taken the lead from the Packers at
seven to six with about four minutes to go in
the first half. Green Bay does have the ball in
the red zone right now, all right. Earlier today, the
Bills came back twenty one points down to beat the
Patriots on the road thirty five to thirty one.
Speaker 12 (23:20):
Because of the.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
Things that have happened today, Vikings have been eliminated by
the playoff from the playoffs. By the way the Chargers
held on sixteen to thirteen against the Chiefs, Kansas City
has been eliminated from the playoffs for the first time
since twenty fourteen. More importantly, Patrick Mahomes suffered a knee
injury in the final minute, was taken to the locker
room needed help, but was walking. He's going to have
an MRI to determine the severity of the injury. Eagles
(23:41):
shout out the Raiders thirty one zero. The raven shut
out the Bengals twenty four zero. Cincinnati is officially eliminated
from playoff contention. The Bears rolled past the Browns thirty
one to three, Jaguars crushed the Jets forty eight to twenty,
Commanders defeated the Giants twenty nine to twenty one, and
the Texans outscored the Cardinals forty to twenty. And if
you missed it, Kaitlin de Bor did release a statement
(24:03):
today someday basically saying that he has no intention of
leaving Alabama because he's been connected to know the possible
opening job at Michigan. But he released the same in
today saying that he is happy he's in Alabama. He's
no intention to go anywhere.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
It's been quite a week and I'll just say this,
and you know, I mean, we go back and forth
and joke. The reality is right now for any coach
that a Kalen debor Kenny Dillingham at Arizona State. The
University of Michigan is saying, we are evaluating our Athletic
department right now. So if something were to be found
(24:37):
more and you don't know if it's if it's going
to happen, no pun intended. But if they were, they
were to find out other things about other people. The
person that may be hiring you may be out. So
now you're hung up to dry at a place where
you have nobody there. So that job is right now, Messie. Yes, unappealing,
a toxic maybe too strong of a word to use,
(24:58):
but it's not worth for a strong of a program
that Michigan is and the support that they can get,
it is not worth a coach right now to say
now is the top. Wait three years and guess what.
Maybe it'll be open again. Whoever they bring in, maybe
it doesn't work out, but you need to make sure
that all of this gets flushed out before you were
to make a decision. I'd be shocked if they got
(25:20):
a big, a big name like a Dillingham or a
kiln d. Boor shot down the rumors.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
Toady, Yeah, I agree with that, but I mean, especially
to Boor, you can't leave out situations in Alabama to
go to Michigan. That's just and that's that's insane and
it's not about support and having the backend to do
whatever you want.
Speaker 2 (25:36):
Sure, well, but but honestly, there's there because of Alabama's spot.
And by the way, Alabama's got a playoff game exactly
week so they did make the playoffs. For those that
may not be happy with him, it is the fact
that maybe there's some people who just want another Nick
Saban for sure, So there could be people that don't
want Kalen de Boor in Tuscaloosa for whatever reason that
(25:58):
may be. But sure, it's just there was he There
was talk on Friday, on Saturday and the social media
and message boards that Michigan could be on the verge
of making a highre and this and that, and like
it was just the day prior. You know, Sean Moore's
in a jail cell. It's just three days removed from
them firing him. And I understand, like time he is
of the essence with everything, But it just doesn't make
(26:19):
a lot of sense for any coach that has bigger
aspirations to go to a top tier program to use
Michigan as that opportunity right now, considering just how many
question marks there are around the program, A lot of
question marks.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Dan, I mean there's people saying and allegedly you know
that so many other people knew what was going on already,
and so if that's the case, Dan, you got to
find out who that hold those yes.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Yes, And it doesn't make sense Carrie. Even if there's
a full investigation and nothing is found out and everything
is a okay, it's still you don't know that right now,
you have no idea that that is going to happen.
So it's not worth the risk. Once the investigation is
over and something is found and maybe they end up
hiring someone and I don't have any incident information. I
(27:05):
think that there are certain names that are probably fit
for that job, just not the big names that that
people want to connect to. That to that opening, Yeah,
it's crazy. And then Fernando Mendoza makes like the greatest
Heisman speech the other that we've seen maybe ever yesterday
and winning that award so college football. He just can't
(27:29):
stop talking about it. And that's good. That's good. Better
than the NBA Cup, right, Gerry, Yes.
Speaker 11 (27:36):
All right?
Speaker 9 (27:36):
There would we agree?
Speaker 2 (27:37):
I'm just kidding, Mazi, just kidding. Now there's the NBA.
I agree with you. The NBA Cup Championship game will
be on Tuesday night and we'll end up watching and
we'll watch it. It's Spurs versus Would you trade in
a Spurs? I will get to the NFL in second,
But did you trade it right now? If I were
to say Spurs Nick's NBA Finals, would you take that
right now?
Speaker 1 (28:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Yeah, I think you would. I agree with that. I would, yes.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
I mean I'd love to see obviously Wemby and and
on the big stage and the Knicks, and it's about
time they got back.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
I think it would be an appealing NBA Finals. Yes,
And for as great as Oklahoma City is in the greatness,
there's just they're just not garnering the interest. And they
could blame people. You're not interested, you're not interested in
that story. But to see the Knicks in the NBA
Finals sure would be something. And to see Wemby there,
sure it would be something. Josh Jacobs with an amazing
(28:29):
catch that Kerry reacted to as Monci was given the scores,
so the extra point was good. So Green Bay takes
the lead on Denver, but bo Nicks and Courtland Sutton
on a big pass and catch to set Denver up
inside the green Bay thirty yard line. So after a
slow start to that contest, green Bay and Denver starting
to pick it up with again so much to play for,
and now for Denver, you don't have to worry about
(28:51):
the Chiefs anymore. You win this game, you have a
two game cushion, you know, essentially over the New England Patriots,
that top spot in the in the a f C.
So yeah, very very meaningful for for Denver to be
able to get this win in green Bay obviously fighting
for their lives with the Bears in the and the
(29:11):
Lions not only in the nfcport but also their positioning
in the in the NFC as a whole. Josh Jacobs
had a knee issue all week long. We mentioned the
touchdown catch, so you didn't practice on Wednesday and Thursday.
They're banged up in the backfield, but he didn't look
any bit injured when he ended up making that catch.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
Man has so many good games. My eyes can't even
keep up. Dan, I'm like I'm going left, the right
or down.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
I'm almost almost like I'm doing like.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
A Nintendo code right now, the secret code A B
A B up down up down Was that what it's.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Called what is there? You go, what is it?
Speaker 8 (29:44):
It?
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Mi code games? I only played sports games, so what
was it?
Speaker 8 (29:50):
Was?
Speaker 4 (29:50):
It was?
Speaker 2 (29:51):
It was it contra super Mario brothers had their their
own as well.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
Yeah, especially specifically up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, BA,
there it is.
Speaker 2 (30:04):
The Colts are driving. Yes, the Indianapolis Colts up six
to three on the Seahawks. You want to talk about
important games. Yes, they have a second down, second down
and five at the Seattle twenty one yard line. Just
picked up a first down as Jonathan Taylor was able
to reel in a short pass from Philip Rivers. So
now it's first and ten at the Seattle fourteen yard line.
(30:24):
They're on the other side of the two minute warning.
For as much as this Ben has been about Philip Rivers,
right now, he's out playing Sam Darnold, who's just four
or five for forty two yards in this content.
Speaker 3 (30:34):
But this is the problem though, Dan. So, if the
Colts do win this game, and they win it in
the fashion that they're winning it right now, why couldn't
why couldn't Riley Leonard have done this? And I think
that's part of the conversation, right, like, how are you
going to win this game. You're gonna win in Seattle
by playing defense, running Jonathan Taylor. I mean, Philip Rivers
(30:56):
isn't lighting it up, and he wasn't gonna light.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Light it up. But why Riley Linton. Why couldn't Riley
Lennard do this right here? Dan?
Speaker 11 (31:06):
So?
Speaker 2 (31:06):
I think because they don't trust him. He's a rookie. Sure,
and at least Philip Rivers, like he's not gonna put
the ball in home do this. I don't think. I
don't think that he's going to. I hope this analogy works.
He's not going to wreck the car. Now he may
(31:26):
get wrecked, he's not going to be the one to
drive it off the side of the road. Sure, and
in a meaningful game against this defense, I think you
need someone with the experience of Philip Rivers to be
able to navigate this. So that's why even though Jonathan
Taylor has been a big part of this, you need
that aspect of it. And it's been a bunch of
(31:48):
Jonathan Taylor just got it on second and seven. It's
going to be a third and three. They're working that clock,
so he's actually gonna have to use their timeouts. And
it still may not help him because the Colts can
get a first down. That's why I think that that
is the case, especially against this defense. Now, next week
they've got a Monday night game against the forty nine
ers or a Sunday night game against Actually no, it's
a Monday night game. And Monday night came against the
(32:09):
forty nine ers. Then they're home against Jacksonville, and then
they're at Houston to end the season.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
Yeah, yeah, they're done in my mind. But again, we
don't know obviously. But when you when you say that,
when you lay that schedule out there, that's tough.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Man. I just and and we had Mark schlarethon and
and just prior to that. I I understand. I agree
that there is attrition at the quarterback position in the NFL.
I just don't think that that is ultimately what is
happening with the Colts. They had Brett Rippon, who has
started NFL games. They haven't been good games, yeah, but
he started NFL games on their practice squad and not
(32:48):
Philip Rivers. Go ahead and say it, go ahead and
say it, Rivers, but the touchdown pass, oh my go
let's go peel Josh downs with the touchdown reception. Let's
go Peel Monzie stopped running your set. Okay, here's the thing.
(33:08):
And as a Seahawks fan against this, I know, I know,
but everybody is loving this. And so now the Colts
and Philip Rivers is I don't know what he's doing.
I'm saying, yes, he doesn't break a hit, that's all.
I'm talking trash. Yes, look at him.
Speaker 11 (33:28):
He is he is, he is.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
You know he's talking. You know he's saying something. He's
not gonna swear that. Philip Rivers is got Yeah. Dag
gum gum. Yes, ten plays fifty eight yards covering more
than four minutes. Take that to that, Riley Leonard, take
care of No, no, yeah, no, go ahead da No,
it's that.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
This is why wow.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
And I just think that it's it's the match again.
If this was any other team, if the Jets were
eight and five with no familiarity with Philip Rivers, they
wouldn't be they wouldn't be doing that. I agree. Yeah,
So I know we want to make a broad statement
about it. There aren't thirty two good quarterbacks in the
National Football League like there aren't Like there's just some
(34:10):
that are on certain teams that are starters, maybe by
name only, and we've seen other backups come in and
perform better. But like they're auto grab thirty two, And
this is actually something you and I have talked about
for a while. I just don't think that they're I
don't think that there are, and I think that the
NFL rules don't allow for it. So I think that
the NFL rules like you should, hey, have three or
(34:32):
four quarterbacks on your practice squad, figure out some way
to allow better quarterback play to exist, and that would
help you out, all right. So this is what's going
on around the NFL outside of the Colts kicking the
extra point and taking a thirteen to three lead on Seattle.
After the extra point, Lil Jordan Humphrey into the end
zone for the Broncos extra point pending, but they've tied
(34:52):
it up with the Packers at thirteen apiece. Just on
the other side of the two minute warning. Lionsley the
Rams seventeen to fourteen a minute forty nine to go
until halftime. In that contest, the Niners up seventeen to
ten on the Titans while they're at the half of
New Orleans. Carolina leads the Saints ten to seven. He's
carry Rhoades. I'm Dan Byer. Manzie Milanio says, a look
at our fantasy numbers. Next on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 10 (35:13):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live. Cold said Seahawks. Third down and three at
the seven yard line, Rivers backs into the shotgun. Three
receivers go left, ball in the right, Hash Taylor the
(35:34):
back right. Tyler Warren is the tight end right. Josh
Downs emotion to the right side. Now two x two
formation for Rivers. Welcome over that defense.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
Four on the play card takes a step three step
drop looking bros.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Inside the five.
Speaker 10 (35:48):
Touchdown for the Colts, and it's Josh Downs across the
goal line.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Touchdown hid why and the Colts now are on top
twelve to three.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
If Philip Rivers came off the counts, it came out
here crowing.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Dives once again. Here's Dan Byer and Carrie Rose.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
I don't know if it was ever gonna end. The
Colts Radio network got in the highlight the extra long one.
It was the extra long cut. I know it was
two minutes and twelve seconds the Seahawks and Colts, Yes,
Colts with the touchdown pass from Philip Rivers. The Seahawks
are trying to answer down ten, trying to kick a
field goal at the end of the first half. But
Philip Rivers in Indianapolis has been the story. Maybe the
(36:31):
story of the game that we aren't talking about is
how the Indie defense has been able to keep the
Seahawks and Jackson Smith and Jigba and the offense and check.
But it's evident by the three points. But all we
want to talk about is Philip Rivers. So the Seahawks
going for a field goal. Jamison Williams got a touchdown
pass from Jared Goff, so the lines are up ten
on the Rams twenty four to fourteen, with eighteen seconds
(36:51):
to go until halftime. Rams at their own forty four
yard line, so still a little time on the clock
to try to put some more points on the board.
Jason Meyer's long field goal is good, so it's thirteen
to six. Colts leave the Seahawks at the half, Packers
knocking on the door. Just ten seconds to go until halftime,
and the Broncos are up on Green Bay fourteen to thirteen.
Packers don't have any timeouts. I gotta be careful here
(37:13):
that Jordan Love just throws the ball out of the
end zone so that they can at least try to
get some points at the end of the half. And
that's what he does. They'll attempt they feel goal with
about five seconds. It looks like Stafford hit Pooka on
a pass to maybe set them up in Detroit territory.
Rams have a timeout remaining so that they didn't chose
(37:33):
not to use it. Seven seconds left, twenty four to fourteen,
but the Rams now in field goal range and then
the Niners continue to leave the Titans at the half
seventeen to ten. Panthers up on the Saints ten to
seven at the half. Let's go to the news desk.
Manci Belanio says, a look at fantasy numbers, Fantasy heads
them and miss it. MANSI what you got?
Speaker 4 (37:53):
Yeah, We're gonna start with the early morning games because
of these games.
Speaker 12 (37:56):
I'm sure I'm in ross Saint Brown will have a
high points after this.
Speaker 4 (38:00):
But with the quarterbacks for the morning games, Trevor Lawrence
is your top quarterback of.
Speaker 12 (38:04):
The day, fifty four points.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
He threw for three hundred and thirty yards five touchdowns.
He also had a rushing touchdown, so good job. Trevor Lawrence,
Josh Allen, and CJ. Stroud both have twenty nine points.
They are the next best quarterbacks for today.
Speaker 12 (38:19):
Alan threw for an one hundred and ninety three yards
and three touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
CJ.
Speaker 4 (38:23):
Stroud threw for two hundred and sixty yards and three touchdowns.
When it comes to the wide receivers, Nico Collins is
the top receiver so far. He's got twenty three points today,
three catches for eighty five yards and two touchdowns, and
despite the lost, Jamar Chase also have twenty three points,
ten catches for one hundred and thirty two yards. When
it comes to the running backs, Travis atn thirty one points.
(38:44):
He had twelve carries for thirty two yards, so you're like, wait, what, No,
he had three catches for seventy three yards and three touchdowns,
So not what you expect necessary for a running back,
but that's what he did today. James Cook is the
next one. He had thirty points today. He had twenty
two carries for one hundred and seven yards. He had
two touchdowns on the ground. He also caught a touchdown
and Travon Henderson in that game between the Bills and
(39:05):
the Patriots, he had some nice carries fourteen carries, one
hundred and forty eight yards, two touchdowns, and he had
twenty nine points.
Speaker 12 (39:12):
Those are some of your fantasy hits of the day.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
Some crazy, crazy stat lines. Yeah, seen across the board.
Absolutely that Phil's Patriots game was a dandy. And we're
going to dive into the Chiefs and Chargers just after
the top of the hour, because really the talk is
about the Chiefs. Monzi's been mentioning it. Chiefs eliminated from
the postseason, and then Patrick Mahomes now with the knee
(39:35):
injury that Andy Reid said after the game, it doesn't
look good, but we'll know more after they get the
results from that imaging. Packers kicked a field goal, so
it's sixteen to fourteen green Bay on top of Denver,
and the Rams were able to put points on the
board with a field goal, so they only trailed the
Lions by seven entering halftime. Every single one of these
(39:56):
games so good, has so much riding on it, truly
does so good. I'm literally locked in Dan Carolina Carolina.
If they beat the Saints today and can beat the
Buccaneers in one of their two meetings that they've got,
the NFC South is theirs. Yes, so you can't mess
this up. And I think Seattle is saying, we can't
mess this up. We can't have Philip Rivers just walk
(40:16):
in and when so much is at stake and they
look up at the scoreboard and see that the Rams
are losing right now to the Lions, it shows a
lot more as a play.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
That's a lot going on, Dan, And you get into
these situations where there are some unknown right Like obviously
people have been looking at Philip Rivers and saying he's
not going to get the job done.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
It's not going to happen. But here we are right now,
these Carrier oats. I'm Dan Byer. What's next for the Chiefs,
not this season, but in the future, that's next. On
Fox Sports Radio, we continue on Philip Rivers Watch, giving
you the information on what Philip Rivers is doing in
his first game since twenty twenty. It's one of five
(40:54):
games we're looking at all of them with playoff implications.
Panthers and Saints just getting underway the third quarter as
are the Niners in Titans in the Bay Area. That's
a seventeen to ten game. San Francisco's got a lot
to play for and their eyes are on the scoreboard
as well, seeing that Seattle is losing. The Rams are
losing at the half, so a lot to play for,
and the Packers, who have a lot to play for
(41:16):
lead in Denver. As you heard Monci say, welcome in.
It is end Zone radio. The game, though, I want
to talk about, is the one that happened earlier in
the day in Kansas City, as the Chiefs not only
lost to the Chargers, they not only were eliminated from
the playoffs for the first time since twenty fourteen. They
also may have lost Patrick Mahomes. There's a lot of
(41:36):
different levels that we can go with this carry, but
just an unbelievably depressing cold day for the Chiefs. Loved.
I loved seeing the Chiefs play a big game at
Arrowhead at one o'clock Eastern time noon kickoff in Kansas City.
I don't want every game, every big game on Sunday
night football, I don't need that, or in the late window.
(41:58):
I love it when there are some big games leon
and this was an enormous game for the Chiefs, and
everything came up snake eyes. They lose the game, and
now they've lost their quarterback, possibly for much longer than
they ever would have hoped.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
Damn Before I dive into that, Seattle and the Rams
both come back and win those games in the second half.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
That's the perfects. That's on the record. Rams and Seahawks
winning today and talking about the Chiefs, it's one of
those things where I think we find ourselves a lot
of us as I looked at the news today and
you know, obviously they're out of the playoffs, and now
my homes may have a significant injury. And it seems
(42:42):
like when you look at the landscape of X or
social media and stuff like that, like people were praying
for this downfall. It almost feels that way right now.
And that's never I don't think that's a good thing.
But I also don't think it's a bad thing when
it comes to sports. And I say that just because
of the dominance.
Speaker 3 (43:00):
We've been used to them winning, we've been used to
them being getting a lot of the calls we've seen
that we've seen them get unfortunate mean fortunate bounces and fortunate.
Speaker 2 (43:08):
Things that happened their way for a lot of the
past couple of years. This year wasn't that year, right.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
They weren't getting they weren't getting all the calls, they
weren't getting all the bounces. They had players going out
with injuries. They've had you know, turnover with the roster
and receivers coming in mid season. Like, there's been no
continuity around this team. And so for them when you
watch this season, they're exactly where they should be. They
weren't that good. They had moments of glimmer and hope
(43:37):
when people came back and people thought they were you know,
they were going to find their footing. But this team
is not a good team. And Patrick Mahomes has not
played really great football this year. They's had spurts of
playing well, but he's been trying to do too much
and overcompensating well.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
So this team isn't a good team. What about their
offensive line injuries, because that's kind of been the story
as of late. Does that tell the whole story?
Speaker 10 (44:00):
No?
Speaker 2 (44:00):
No, you're not buying as an excuse or a reason,
are you? Are you feeling that way? Do you feel
that side of it? I think that it made it
more difficult for them. So the points that you made
about the Chiefs and things going their way or a
call going their way, I think that, yeah, at some
point that's going to even it. Don't even know yet.
And I felt it was extremely difficult for them to
(44:22):
come off of the Super Bowl losing. The losing of
the Super Bowl hangover, I think is that's not overrated.
That is a real thing. And I don't know about that.
Maybe wish you did, but maybe you wish you didn't.
I'm not sure. But the Chiefs and tried to go
(44:42):
for the three peat. Like it wasn't just the last
year thing. It was probably the two years prior where
there was just there was nothing left in the tank.
And to use a cliche, all good things must come
to an end. It ultimately was going to yes, and
in everything that I've said, and I think we have
to have a discussion about Patrick Mahomes as well with
(45:02):
this injury. But we just said it's the first time
since twenty fourteen that the Chiefs won't be in the
postseason and that predates Patrick Mahomes, right, that's Alex Smith
and what they were doing at that time. So like
there is great amount of success and at some point
they just weren't going to make the playoffs, of course,
and I don't think that it's as shocking that it
would happen after a season where they lost to Super Bowl.
(45:25):
I think them getting to the AFC Championship Game the
year after they lost to the Buccaneers in Super Bowl
fifty five where Cincinnati ended up eating them, and in
the AFC Championship Game in Kansas City to be able
to run it back like that after that disappointment. Now,
because of their offensive line at that point, a lot
of changes needed to be made with their tackles and
(45:46):
the health, and they invested into the offensive line, but
they didn't even have a hangover with that. So that's
why I think the success of the Chiefs and what
they've done is has been. It was going to happen,
but my goodness, what are run? But now I just
question what is the ultimate severity of Patrick mahomes knee
because here we are on December fourteenth, and if it's
(46:09):
a significant injury, training camp isn't a sure thing, and
for him coming back from such a big injury, you
just wonder how he would be entering next season.
Speaker 3 (46:19):
That's a valid point, and it's a fair one. It
puts a lot of things up in the air, puts
a lot of things. I think a lot of stuff
is at jeopardy here. I mean, even the idea that
their head coach will be back next year, Andy Reid,
that's an area. Yeah, in my mind, like you've went
on this run, You've proven that you are the Hall
of Fame coach and a winner of a coach that
(46:40):
can get it, get the job done with your guys.
You've done it. What else does he need to come
back for to prove so, I mean that's in question
as well. But when you talk about Patrick Mahomes and
the time and of the injury, when you're fighting tooth
and nail to you know, be the guy that you're
expected to be and the team that you're expected to be,
you go out there and you do certain things. And
(47:01):
the style of play that he plays with it is reckless.
A lot of the throws that he makes on the run,
we ooh and ah and we think it is miraculous
and it is. It's not throwing shade in him in
the moment where he's down. I'm just saying, like those
things catch up to you throwing the ball at the
last minute with guys around your ankles trying to roll
you over and make those miraculous plays, which he does.
(47:22):
Like these things are bound to happen. So for me,
I do hope that he's it's not a severe injury,
and I hope he's able to come back. But I
think I hope he learned from this situation as well,
because you can't continue to do this and play this
style of football. And we've seen him be injured before, yes, right,
And was it just on a quarterback sneak? It's other
plays to your point, So that's and this is not
(47:43):
a I told you so Kansa City exactly by any means.
Speaker 2 (47:46):
But what I do think is not only was it
bound to come to an end, I have a tough
time actually criticizing anybody with the Chiefs because of the
extreme amount of success that they have. Now if Kansas
City is unable to do anything, and I think your
Andy Reid point is very well is well taken, because
(48:07):
if you don't have a healthy Patrick Mahomes, what does
the next year mean for your team? But if your
Kansas City are and are unable to do anything next year,
I think that does fast track to talk about what's
happening with Andy Reid. Maybe they find out this injury
is hopefully it's not but way more severe than they
would have thought. To your point, maybe Andy Reid makes
(48:29):
a decision this offseason. It's one thing that missed the playoffs,
but now with Mahomes' injury and what could possibly be
at stake, Yeah, it's a scary time for the Chiefs.
But ultimately the decisions that they made, the moves that
they made, maybe they're explosive. Guys that they had tried
to get to add to the passing game didn't come
(48:50):
to fruition. They've never really replaced Travis Kelcey. They haven't
developed a running game. No, but they still have made
it to the last three Super Bowls, right, Yes, So
I'm not gonna sit here and say Brett Veach and
what the Chiefs have done is the disservice in Kansas
City was asking for this. They may not be as
talented as other teams. There may be guys that they
(49:12):
have missed on. They may have had to bring other
guys back because the guys that they were hoping that
would contribute weren't there. But Ultimately, it was going to
come to an end, and I'm more concerned not about
the ending and how this is, but now what is
the future specifically with Mahomeskney.
Speaker 3 (49:28):
Yeah, No, that's the biggest thing that comes out of this.
I think at this point in the season, we already
knew that there's playoff chances. Playoff hopes were slim, right,
So for them to make it or not make it,
I don't think that was you know, I don't think
that was really a discussion, and I think they were
going to run the table. But you talk about Patrick
Mahomes and what he means of the game and what
that injury can mean for that franchise, it's a big deal.
Speaker 2 (49:49):
Green Bay and Denver underway in the second half, and
just a minute in, Josh Jacobs has taken it to
the house for the Packers, a thirty five yard time
touchdown run by him. I actually made about a forty
yard touchdown run for Jacobs again, second touchdown of the game.
He was questionable coming into this contest with a knee injury,
and he basically ran away from the Denver defense and called.
Speaker 3 (50:11):
A fade ball in the end zone. Dan earlier that
was a receiver cat, so I think he's think he's
doing okay, see if.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
The extra point is good for Brandon McManus, And it
is good. So Green Bays up twenty three to fourteen
on the Broncos. Rams are going forward on fourth down,
as are the Seahawks, both facing fourth down situations. Seattle's
in Indianapolis territory. Sam Donald has connected with aj Barner
on the fourth down, so they're going to get a
fresh set of downs. And it looks like Blake Korum
(50:37):
got the first down for the Rams on a fourth
and one run. I was about to be upset too.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
I I was saying, kick the points, Ram, kick take
the points the down ten instead of kicking a field
on the seven because of.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
The field goal at the end of the five yees.
Oh that's true, but here you go. But still you
are never wanted to shy away from taking the points.
Take the points Seahawks. Would have been a long field goal,
but they are in colts range that they ended up
going forward at that point, and so now a fresh
set of downs down to about the thirty yard line
of Indianapolis thirty two yard line of Indianapolis for Seattle
(51:08):
in that contest. Juwan Jennings has cut another touchdown pass
from Brock Perty so the Niners, extending their lead back
up to fourteen early in the second quarter of that
contest over the Titans twenty four to ten, and Carolina's
into the end zone again. The Panthers. This is the
forgotten game for two reasons. Number One, this is such
a one o'clock Eastern time game, right, Like, we've got
(51:31):
the Panthers and Saints. Why would they be playing in
the late window, especially with all these games they're playing
in the late window today. Jalen Cocher a thirty two
yard touchdown reception on the touchdown pass from Bryce Young.
Extra point was good. So the Panthers are up ten.
But again, the Panthers in the NFC South right now,
they're in the driver's seat. You win this game and
you beat the Buccaneers and your division champion. So that's
(51:52):
what's at stake for Carolina today. He is Carrier Olds,
I'm Dan Beyer, our NFL insider, Adam Kaplan will be
with us next. What's next for the Kansas City Chiefs.
What's next for Philip Rivers and the Colts is they
continue to have that thirty to six lead on Seattle
even though the Seahawks are driving. And what's next as
it could be D Day for some NFL coaches as
we head down the stretch of this regular season, He's
(52:14):
carry Roads. I'm Dan Byer. That's next. On Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
Titans at forty nine ers.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
Out of the shotgun. Here's party takes the snap, flushed out.
Speaker 10 (52:22):
Right, throws Jen Eggs cut to the end.
Speaker 2 (52:25):
Zode touchdown, touchdown forty nine ers.
Speaker 10 (52:30):
Jenniggs broke across a big spike for a second of
the game.
Speaker 2 (52:36):
KNBR forty nine ers radio network with the call it
is end zone Radio. On Fox Sports Radio, he is
carry Rhoads. I'm Dan Byer. So a lot going on
right now. Yeah, And the Colts had a fourth and
four try to draw the Seahawks off sides. But on
the third and four Philip Rivers just missed Josh Downs
(52:57):
Carry just missed them.
Speaker 3 (52:59):
He did, he miss him by a lot, Dan, But
I said, justin I'm a Seahawks fan.
Speaker 2 (53:04):
No, no, Dan, it was it was ugly.
Speaker 3 (53:06):
And what did I say before that play happened Early
in the show, I said, if I'm the Seattle DB's,
i am not moving, I'm going to make him attempt
to throw the ball down the field and beat us.
And he just tried to and it looked like he
was throwing a loaf of bread back on the counter
at the grocery store. And so that's what that's that's
my story. I'm sticking to it. He threw it a
(53:27):
beat too soon. He threw it a beat too soon.
Downs ended up looking up for it and the ball
was already there, overshot him.
Speaker 2 (53:34):
Yeah, bye a few yards. The Colts ended up punting
it to the Seahawks, who will start inside their ten
and a thirteen to nine Indie lead in that contest.
The Packers lead the Broncos twenty three to fourteen in Denver,
but Jordan Love was just picked off. A deep pass
intended for Christian Watson was picked off by Patrick's or Tan.
The bad news for Green Bay not only was it
an interception, was it in an interception? Watson was down
(53:58):
on the play and was not It appeared to be
a shoulder injury something of that essence. So Christian Watson,
who's battled injuries really throughout his career. Yeah, but this
season last week at a big game against the Bears
and now gets injured against the Broncos. So the Rams
kicked that field goal. They're within four, but Detroit leads
twenty four to twenty Niners as you heard up twenty
(54:18):
four to ten on the Titans, and Carolina leads a
Saints seventeen to ten. Now we can bring in our
NFL insider, Adam Kaplan. You can hear him on the
Inside the Birds podcast. Find him on Exit Kaplan NFL.
Adam I reported this earlier that if something happens with
Gardner Minshew that the Chiefs may look at Elvis Gerbach.
Speaker 13 (54:35):
Is that was my tweets that love Yeah right, I
like that number eighteen Elvis Gerba. Yeah, well minshrew that throw, man,
Look you got situational weareness man, you can't make that throw.
You just have to understand where you are in the game.
And I know he came in cold. I know it's
hard to prepare like that, but yeah, it's a shame.
(54:56):
I mean, the Chiefs are eliminated from the playoffs and
Mahomes it's the same left. By the way, he's been
dealing with enough left knee issue. It's not a secret
to anyone who covers the team. He's been dealing with
it with some time. And you know Andy Reid, he
was taken out of context. He just the reporter said, hey,
what about his knee? Well, he said, you saw it
doesn't look good. But he doesn't know yet, right, But
(55:18):
the trainer, Rick Berkeholder would know because you do it.
You test to see if there's a ligament issue on
the field to see if it's an a cl and
it's called the Lockman test.
Speaker 9 (55:28):
I've done before. You just you shake the knee hard,
you jerk it after.
Speaker 13 (55:32):
Ligament's law loose than the ACL or you know what
it is, and the MRI I confirm it tomorrow. But
it doesn't look good. We'll see what happens. But I'm
just absolutely stunned at that that they're eliminated. It's hard
to believe.
Speaker 3 (55:42):
And Adam, so that's to kind of piggyback on that.
Obviously it looked like a serious injury. I mean, I've
seen those things happened quite quite a bit, but this,
I mean, I don't think anybody well maybe there was
some hope that they could sneak in here, but I
don't think anybody thought that they were going to make
the playoffs at this point. So I'm thinking about the
future now, the fact that this injury happened at this
(56:03):
time and we talk about the recovery process or whatever, like,
how does this put this franchise back with, you know,
with the knowledge of not knowing if the guy is
going to be ready to play in the beginning of
next season.
Speaker 13 (56:14):
Well, it depends obviously the testing tomorrow and of course
and how long the rehabit if it is indeed serious.
Speaker 2 (56:19):
We don't know that.
Speaker 13 (56:20):
So who knows, But that that's secondary to the real problems.
The roster is simply not good enough. That's the real
story with his team. They've had all foot sorts of
offensive line problems. It's interesting because they really addressed it.
They extended Trade Smith's contract, Create Humphrey, they extended his
Contractace phenomenal they signed. They they're paying Jalen Moore, who
(56:41):
had a start today at right tackle. They gave him
multiple years to guarantee two years. They addressed they thought
the receiver position. Unfortunately it hasn't happened. Rice has come
back and played well. I mean he's put up numbers
at some drops, but the back end of their defense
has not been what they thought it would be McDuffie
didn't play today due to injury, and he's really their
(57:04):
only good corner. Their pass rush has been very disappointing.
They're gonna they're gonna have a lot to address, like
this is gonna be Brett Veach is a top three GM.
He's phenomenal and he's been with Andy. Andy brought him
over from Philly with him and and Bratt's been in
the league, you know, twenty five years, played at University
Delaware with Matt Naggi who was the offensive coordinator. But
(57:26):
the bottom line is the rosters club are not good
enough and they've got they've got a lot of tough
decisions they have to They got to be real here.
They're really bad at corner and they're really bad as
an edge rush group. And it's it's it's kind of
happened when you Russian Cover, you know, Kerrie Russian Cover
and Coverent Rush. If they're not joined, you got problems.
Speaker 2 (57:43):
Adam Kaplan joining us. Here on Fox Sports Radio, we
pinpoint so many teams and the New England Bills game
today was obviously one of the one of the highlights.
A stunner because of New England jumping on nothing. Yes,
the blowing the lead that that they did. So did
we learn that about the Patriots today?
Speaker 9 (58:01):
Well?
Speaker 2 (58:02):
Their defense.
Speaker 13 (58:03):
Their defense, it's so many breakdowns. Communication was bad. They
just they couldn't get a stop when they needed to.
James Cook has been really an amazing story. He's smaller
physically than his brother Dalvin, but he's better football player.
It's hurt Dalvin had the big injury history. That's why
his career and shortly prematurely. But yeah, they had they
had some tackling issues. It may that may look he was.
(58:28):
It was kind of a weird deal. Henderson had several
big runs there, but that was pretty much for it.
For their offense. They couldn't really do anything else. So
what do we really learn? They're not a very talented
defense that showed up. I've been telling people all season
that I think I was on ness in like a
month ago, and like I talked in the Patriots they
kind of know who they are. It's been a great
story this to me because Dan talking to them. They
(58:49):
made a decision this past offseason. They signed a couple
of big for agents that was going to be it.
They were not going to go crazy, which is fun.
You should always built through the draft, not through free agency.
That's you can't win by bill through free agency. Nope,
they want to supplement and Milton Williams is on ir
with a high ankle spring that twenty eight million a season,
that that's a that's a big loss for them. But
(59:10):
that I think they got kind of exposed on defense.
They it's really interesting that you know they have this,
they have this this defense, it's really usually good on
third down. They had problems today. I thought when they
because I did admit I'm not sour, but I did
pick the Patriots to win. I just I just thought
that because they match up, they already beat them there.
They've been played such effishing football. I'm like, wow, they're
(59:32):
they're really legit. At twenty one one nothing, then twenty seven,
twenty four seven, then it slowly slipped away and then
they couldn't get to Josh Allen.
Speaker 9 (59:39):
That was the problem, all right.
Speaker 3 (59:41):
I mean, I want to talk to you about I
want to see if you're ready to jump on the
bandwagon with me yet. And that's uh with my Houston Texans.
So I picked them to come back and win that division.
And you didn't think that could happen. But I think
offensively there starting.
Speaker 9 (59:53):
I don't expect Daniel Jones to get hurt, but yeah,
I think sick.
Speaker 2 (59:56):
Well you just taunt Adam cap.
Speaker 9 (01:00:03):
Well, no way, are you back of the Ravens bandwagon?
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
No, no, no, I am, I am, I am. But
they're not good at all. But no, no what the
text and no'm serious but all jokes like now now
South's playing.
Speaker 9 (01:00:16):
Well and he's you know, you know what, Stroud's playing better.
Speaker 13 (01:00:19):
The word I got though. The passive concepts aren't really great.
Uh Nico Coms is a terrific player when he's healthy.
It's the defense. They have an elite defense, the number
one and just most categories of number one that they're incredible.
Speaker 9 (01:00:32):
But they got to get Stroud going.
Speaker 2 (01:00:33):
It was good they had.
Speaker 13 (01:00:34):
They had a bunch of big plays here that was good,
and I feel better about them. I just don't trust
their offense. They're not Dan knows my my my segment
on Sports Bird on Mondays on television. They're not in
my circle. Trust that still not because they're not god
enough on offense. But good win today against a bad team.
Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
All right, the Adam Kaplan joining us here on Fox
Sports Radio. The Philip Rivers thing like that, is there
more to it than just him and Shane Steichen keeping
in touch and that's that he's in and now he's
starting a touchdown pass and they lead the Seahawks in
the third quarter.
Speaker 13 (01:01:05):
I mean, is is that basically all the men they
looked at the quarterbacks, but Rivers they know him. People
forget this. He actually played with Michael Pittman Pittman's rookie season. Yeah, yeah,
it's actually very funny. Yeah, Pittman in twenty twenty season.
Speaker 9 (01:01:22):
But it's hard to believe.
Speaker 13 (01:01:24):
I mean, I'm watching this game and I'm thinking I
thought that Mike McDonald would if he couldn't get home.
They just splits the hell on them because Rivers can't move,
We can't move. They couldn't get to him. I mean,
I know, I know the ball. I heard you guys
before he came on.
Speaker 9 (01:01:36):
Kerry's great. That ball comes out like he's got an
anvil on his head. It does shake. The first pass
to Taylor was and it's such a tail on it.
But the fact that they're in.
Speaker 13 (01:01:46):
This, that they're up against the Seahawks, guys, I'm stutting.
Now again, we're we're we're not at the end of
the third quarter yet, but this should not be happening.
Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
To answer your question, yeah, no, Adam. I was telling
Dan the story of me and Philip Otter than you
Carry came out the same year, are you. I had
no idea we both we both play a quarterback and
instead about the same year.
Speaker 13 (01:02:07):
And wow, I've had a cenar ball when when it
came out, and I remember that crazy throwing motion was
like a shock, But I had.
Speaker 2 (01:02:13):
No idea, Wow, you guys are the same the same year?
Speaker 9 (01:02:15):
Oh man, Dan, is that not put a proper perspective?
Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
Hold?
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
My my favorite part about it was I said, wow,
forty four year old Philip Rivers starting today, Carry goes
we came out in the same year. I'm not going
to tell you how old I am. Well, all right,
if you came out that, I'm going to be able
to ballpark it all. I'm saying I could get within
a year or two. I think Rivers just turned Yeah,
he just turned forty four.
Speaker 9 (01:02:39):
Yeah, crazy?
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
Do you think any Do you think the NFL will
do something though about this? In not allowing him to
have a cane on the field. No, I mean, like, well,
thank you very much. That's yeah, that's very funny.
Speaker 13 (01:02:55):
Now for for Hall of Famer kick get in, you know,
within five years because he came back. Not that he cares,
but yeah, I think it's a great look. I think
it's super cool. I feel bad for Chris Balder, general manager,
because you know, what can you do?
Speaker 9 (01:03:07):
You could put a.
Speaker 13 (01:03:07):
List together of retired or washed up quarterbacks and and
don't forget we're passing the trade deadline so that you're
restricted to what you can do. And as one person
told me, he goes, who would you rather have to start?
Riley Leonard who probably is a marginal NFL quarterback who's
got a minor knee injury, or a guy that knows
how to play the game in Philip rivers that we'll
play with himself, won't try to do too much, knows
(01:03:30):
who he is. He's a pure pocket passer, can't move
And that's kind of been the story today, guys. I mean,
he's just he's they're hanging in there with a guy
shouldn't be playing. It's a pretty good stories so far.
Speaker 2 (01:03:40):
I just said to carry they got a guy who's
not going to wreck the card. Now he may get
wrecked himself when he's not going to be the one
to drive it off the cliff. And if you had
a rookie in there against the Seahawks defense like that,
that could happen. And they've got three really important games
coming up. I mean, I mean they're all important.
Speaker 6 (01:03:58):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
I should say that next week game wouldn't be as important,
but they got a good opponent in San Francisco, But
then you have the Jaguars and Texans like after that.
Speaker 9 (01:04:05):
I know they can't breathe.
Speaker 13 (01:04:07):
I know, when I looked at their schedule for Rivers,
I had a pretty good feeling as a Thursday he
was going to start because I'd heard he was doing.
Really Jackson, that's it. There's no way they're going to
rally Leonard. You're not putting your se That's the coach
from another team explained to me. He goes, Dude, you're
not putting your season on Riley Leonard. You'll take whatever
you can get. They've got a good run game, underrated defense.
(01:04:27):
Luanna Room other decoordinator's turned his career on if getting
fired by the Bengals last year, and it's hanging. But
Dan's right, their schedules, the hard to schedule the National
Football League, it's really hard. They're hanging man. This is
if they I mean, they're only up by four here,
but if they could win this game, that would be major.
Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
I got one more for you, Manziz's going to have
an update just on the other side of that. Rams
knocking on the door, Broncos in the end zone. A
lot happening here, final one and it's on the heels
of the Joe Burrow comments earlier this week and now
they gets skunked by the Ravens today in maybe it's
a bit of revenge from one happened two weeks ago,
but quite you know how the world changes in two
(01:05:04):
plus weeks. Do we need to read anything more into
Joe Burrow? And I was saying not right now.
Speaker 9 (01:05:09):
I'm aware of them.
Speaker 8 (01:05:11):
I know.
Speaker 9 (01:05:11):
Start it's really funny, like.
Speaker 13 (01:05:14):
People are asking me on Twitter acts, excuse me, Hey,
what about this for Burrow? Like they're starting the trade
this trade stuff so it'll get them blogs and you know,
it's just did No. It's funny because they were not
happy with a lot of us who said there's no
way they're going to resign. T Higgins and they did.
It's just which made no sense. I mean that for
Cashboard team, why would you do that? He's a good player,
(01:05:37):
but you need to build your defense. They've done such
a terrible job of building their defense. It's that they
have a non competitive defense. Once again, it's like, it's it'd.
Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
Be crappy for Burrow to do to Jamar chasing T
Higgins right that those guys signed their deals and he's like,
you know what I want out?
Speaker 13 (01:05:52):
I mean, it's you can't look Carson Palmer did. Carson
Palmer did the fake retirement that got him out. It's
really funny, you know. And we don't have time to
get into this, but I'll give you Cliff Ones. I
I know Carl Pickens. Carl came on one of my
shows and I met him in a networking event here
in Philly a year ago. And I mean he basically
forfeited his final year his side. What was the rest
(01:06:15):
of his signing bonus payment. He forfeited it because he
wanted out so badly. He couldn't take the losing. He
just was he just couldn't take it. I mean, when
you go in a building, no, you have no chance
to win. I couldn't imagine what that's like. He put
in proper respective Curry, it's it's kind of blown away.
It was just truthful because he'd asked me, what do
you know about man said, I heard your mouth content
this that, and the other goes, oh wow, nothing you're
saying that. He said, nothing you're saying is wrong, and
(01:06:36):
I was like, okay, you asked me, and I'm told you.
It's tough when we're talking about the Bengals to move
this along here when you know you have no chance
to win. I understand where barrows at. You have no
chance for that defense, no chance could be all right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
He's had him Capell on our NFL Insider. Can hear
him on the Inside the Birds podcast and find him
on Exit Kaplin NFL. What else you got going on
writing writing wise? Sports Grid as well?
Speaker 13 (01:06:59):
Yeah, Sports Tomorrow TV at one, we do two seconds one.
Are you staring my circle of trust. We'll update some
stuff and look forward to talking to you guys next weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
All right, Sorry, Adam, Thanks Adam, you guys, thanks all right.
He's Carrier oroad time. Dan Byer. Moncy Milanos has an
update of what's going on in these late window of
five games, all with intriguing storylines and so much more
moncy what he got?
Speaker 4 (01:07:20):
Yeah, there was a scoring review in la as Matthew
Stafford connected with Kolbe Parkinson. And you know, nowadays, I
don't know what a touchdown is. So I was also
waiting for the scoring review here, like what are you
going to say? They did count it as a touchdown.
So the Rams have taken the lead from the Lions
at home twenty seven to twenty four?
Speaker 12 (01:07:37):
Is the score?
Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
What did they say?
Speaker 10 (01:07:39):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
Is it like he was of foot short?
Speaker 11 (01:07:41):
Right?
Speaker 12 (01:07:42):
It's no, he crossed the plane, that that the ball
crossed the plane, but he wasn't.
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
He wasn't touchdown.
Speaker 12 (01:07:48):
That's what That's what they did.
Speaker 4 (01:07:49):
That's what they declared, exactly exactly that the ball crossed
the plane into the end zone.
Speaker 12 (01:07:54):
But I don't know. Again, I don't know. I don't
know what a touchdown is anymore nowadays? Did I ever know?
Maybe that's the question. Are leading the Broncos twenty three
to twenty one.
Speaker 4 (01:08:02):
Patrickster Tan had a nasty interception where he dove that
led to bo Nick's connecting with Courtland Sutton. So the
Broncos now were just down by two again, twenty three
to twenty one, halfway through the third quarter.
Speaker 12 (01:08:14):
Lines and Rams are late in the third quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:08:15):
By the way, early in the fourth quarter where the
Panthers lead the Saints seventeen to ten, Titans are losing
to the forty nine Ers thirty one to ten. Brock
Party just threw another touchdown and they just keep scoring.
Two minutes to go in this one, and the co
Holds are still up on the Seahawks thirteen to nine.
Late in the third quarter. Jonathan Taylor nineteen carries sixty
nine yards. But more importantly, how is Grandpa Rivers doing?
(01:08:39):
Grandpa thirteen of twenty?
Speaker 12 (01:08:40):
Yes, he is realiant, doesn't he have like a whole
football team of kids?
Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
Yes, he has ten kids, and yes, and I think
one grand child.
Speaker 12 (01:08:50):
I think he has one grandchild.
Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
Yeah, Philip Rivers is thirteen of twenty for ninety three
yards and one touchdowns.
Speaker 12 (01:08:56):
So not too shabby for Grandpa Philip Rivers there.
Speaker 4 (01:08:59):
When it came to some of the games earlier today, well,
the Vikings have been eliminated from the playoffs because of
what has happened today. Chargers eliminated the Chiefs from the
playoffs after beating them sixteen to thirteen, but Patrick Mahomes
in the final minute suffered a knee injury where he
had to be helped to the locker room. They're going
to have an MRI to determine the severity of the injury,
but they've been eliminated for the first time since twenty fourteen.
(01:09:21):
The Bills were down twenty one points and came back
to beat the Patriots on the road thirty five to
thirty one, but Trevion Henderson for New England had fourteen carries,
one hundred and forty eight yards and two touchdowns in
the loss.
Speaker 12 (01:09:32):
The Ravens shut out.
Speaker 4 (01:09:32):
The Bengals twenty four zero, so Cincinnati is now eliminated
from playoff contention as well.
Speaker 12 (01:09:37):
Bears rolled past the Browns thirty one to three. No
problem there.
Speaker 4 (01:09:40):
Trevor Lawrence accounted for six touchdowns today as Jaguars crushed
the Jets forty eight to twenty, and the Texans outscored
the Cardinals forty to twenty.
Speaker 12 (01:09:48):
Where CJ. Stroud threw for two hundred and sixty yards
and three touchdowns.
Speaker 4 (01:09:52):
In the NBA guys, the Cavaliers lost to the Hornets
in overtime one nineteen to one eleven.
Speaker 12 (01:09:57):
What is wrong with the Cavaliers?
Speaker 2 (01:09:59):
Oh really the in hor to the Hornets to the Hornets?
Did conkpall have?
Speaker 12 (01:10:05):
He had twenty nine points?
Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
He's a baller, he is a baller.
Speaker 12 (01:10:08):
He is a baller. Twenty nine points.
Speaker 4 (01:10:10):
But in overtime they win that one and I and
in case you care, guys, Nebraska volleyball just lost. Nebraska
volleyball hasn't lost at home in one thousand in the
semi finals, uh huh oh wow, Yes, they lost to
Texas A and M texts. Wow, so the Aggies eliminated them.
They had not lost at home in one thousand and
fourteen days. Nebraska volleyball, like that's their thing.
Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
They're gone from the they're out.
Speaker 12 (01:10:33):
Yeah, they're aloha. You know, like if you look up
just Nebraska, the first thing that comes up as volleyball.
Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
Really for them, like it's that's their thing, dominant.
Speaker 12 (01:10:40):
It's their dominant And they just got bumped out. So
grazie back to you.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
But Wisconsin and Texas I think they were playing today.
Do you know the results of that.
Speaker 12 (01:10:50):
I can find out.
Speaker 2 (01:10:51):
I mean, check check that one out. So today today
is the end of Era days today apparently it's the
red Yeah the uh I thought regional finals everywhere is
Jared Goff just takes a bad sack. Seahawks, by the way,
are driving. They're now inside the Colt's red zone. A
couple of passes, one to Cooper Cup, one to Jackson
Smith and Jigba. But now at the end of the
(01:11:11):
third quarter of the Seahawks knocking on the door, but
they have been unable to get into the end zone
kicking those field goals. Any luck on that, Manzi, don't
worry about it.
Speaker 12 (01:11:19):
You know, sometimes I don't want the story. Just give
me the star.
Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
So good.
Speaker 12 (01:11:24):
Don't give me the story of what happened.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
I just want scores here, guys, hey, and Manzi's going
to give us stats here in just a little bit.
You'll have our fantasy hits and misses. The Lions facing
a third and twenty two after the sack of Jared Goff.
What do you got monster?
Speaker 12 (01:11:39):
We haven't played yet?
Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
Okay, all right, all right there it is thought that
I thought it later on that an hour. I thought
it was today, all right, So the Lions now have
to punt it on fourth and two. You said the
Rams are going to come back and beat the Lions,
and the Saws and the Seahawks are knocking on the door.
Do you want to call Adam Kaplan back and taunt
him on his this is this is carrier oads, this
(01:12:03):
is he's you know, in your face, Adam Kaplan, he's
a guest. No, Adams, Adams the greatest too.
Speaker 11 (01:12:09):
No, no, my guy.
Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
Yes, we love the bus chops absolutely, these carrier roads
on Dan Byer Lions punning it away. Now down three,
the Packers defense is going to have to stand up
to Denver's. The Broncos have the football and are down two.
One of the Niners, as you heard Mancy say, extending
their lead over the Titans, and that Panther Saints game
is still sticking around, and so is Philip rivers Mont.
(01:12:31):
You'll have a look at some fantasy misses. That's on
the other side. He's carry on Dan. That's next on Fox,
Lions and Rams.
Speaker 8 (01:12:39):
Blake Corn behind Stafford. He will get the feet. He
bounces left side.
Speaker 10 (01:12:44):
Ten to five.
Speaker 14 (01:12:45):
Corum skach in touchdown lay Corns touchdown a lane.
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
The Rams open up the two score.
Speaker 1 (01:12:55):
Lead over the Lions. In Week fifteen, back to Dan
Byer and Carry Rhoades.
Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
It is end Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio, Rams
Radio Network on the call. The Rams have extended their
lead against the Lions. Micah Parsons, Carrie, what did you
see in a in a play for the Packers edge rusher?
This is not good, does not look good.
Speaker 3 (01:13:23):
It's a non contact injury coming off the ass trying
to put presser, trying to run around the hoop, which
they call it as a pass rusher.
Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
And yeah, it just came up a little lane there
grabbing his left knee. So you don't want that. That
is not a good sight to see. So Micah Parson's
on the turf in Denver and Packers' trainers out there
holding the knee. Parsons has his helmet off. Matt Lafleur's
(01:13:52):
out onto the field, and obviously everybody hopes for the
best for Micah Parsons. They just took a time out
from the from the contest. But you're right, Carrie, didn't
didn't look good.
Speaker 3 (01:14:04):
Yeah, it's called a running running the running the hoop
and you try to as an edge rusher trying to
get those angles to cut off the quarterback. And yeah,
just freakish, just came up, lame a little bit, man,
and it's non contact. We know how those are a
lot of time, so hoping the best and for Parsons.
The Seahawks kicked a field goals, so they're within one
of the Colts. So Philip Rivers and the.
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
Colts have the football thirteen to twelve Indie leads facing
a second and nine in their own territory, but out
to about the thirty five yard line. There's twelve forty
three left to go as Rivers is able to dump
it off to Jonathan Taylor for a minimal game.
Speaker 3 (01:14:37):
Dah, you want to tell the audience how many yards
the Cults have in the second half with Philip Rivers at.
Speaker 2 (01:14:42):
The helm, I missed the graphic? Many?
Speaker 11 (01:14:46):
What do we got?
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
Didn't you say three? That was the Lions? That was
the Lions. The Rams about gained the Lions in the
third quarter. Wow, seventy to three. Yeah, so it was yeah,
it was domination by the by the Ram to the
second half. They're up on the Lions ten. Now after
that highlight on the Rams radio network, this is end
Zone Radio on Fox Sports Radio. The Saints in Panthers
(01:15:09):
right now playing midway through the third quarter in New Orleans,
and Carolina is up seventeen to ten. In that contest,
Niners lead the Titans thirty one to ten. And now
Philip Rivers and the Seahawks, excuse me, and the Colts
maybe bailed out on a flag. We'll have to see
laundry on the field. But they were unable to convert
(01:15:30):
a third and eight. Let's see who the penalty is
on with eleven fifty seven left to go. It appears
the way that Mike McDonald is yelling at the referee
that it would be that it would be against Seattle.
But there is a graphic. I'll tell you what. We'll
tell you who it's against. It it is against Seattle.
It's going to give the Colts first a set of
first downs near midfield. Let's go to the news desk.
(01:15:52):
Monty Bilanios has some fantasy numbers. All right, Mancy, Yeah,
what did you sayn real quick?
Speaker 12 (01:15:58):
Apparently Micah Parsons is down with the on contact injury.
Did you guys see that?
Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
Yeah? Yes, yeah, so no, that's okay. You were recording
something else? Oh yeah, I was recording.
Speaker 12 (01:16:07):
So I was like, I just wanted to make sure.
Speaker 4 (01:16:09):
I had a conversation about the flag that you guys
were talking about with this game, but I wanted to
make sure you had to dress that one. God all good, Okay, yes,
I was recording. Okay, great fantasy missus Ford today fellas.
We'll start with the quarterbacks. Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow was
a no boio today, five points. Threw for two hundred
and twenty five yards, no touchdowns. He had two interceptions,
(01:16:29):
one of them was a pick six. Shador Sanders had
a rough outing as well today in Cleveland as they
faced Chicago. He ended with three points. He threw for
one hundred and seventy seven yards and three interceptions. When
it comes to the wide receivers, well, Jerry Judy struggled also.
He ended with just four points, two catches on twenty
two yards. Lad McConkey four points, two catches for twenty yards,
(01:16:52):
Xavier Worthy five points, two catches for thirty five yards.
When it comes to the running backs, quin Shawn Judkins
also struggled today five points. He had twelve carries for
twenty one yards plus three catches that ended with minus
three yards, so that was not good. Ashton genty also
just ended with seven points. Today hit nine carries for
thirty five yards plus four catches for seven yards. So
(01:17:13):
those are just some of your fantasy misses from the
earlier window today.
Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
First of all, I will get to the Micael Parsons
thing in a second, but it was a rough day
for Shador Sanders and the Browns. This shouldn't be any
talking points coming from it. The only thing that if
you hear this, I want you to think, just know this,
know this in your mind. If anybody says, well, what
do you expect from the guy? He's playing outdoors in
(01:17:40):
cold weather on the shores of a great lake. Right,
that's what happens in Chicago. It's tough. That's exactly what
Cleveland does. It's just a different great lake, that's all
it is. They're right on the shores of Lake Erie
instead of Lake Michigan. It's cold there, just like it
is in Chicago. Window. Yes, so today today may have
been more about the Bears and it was anything with
(01:18:01):
the Browns, but that wouldn't be an excuse. And why
the tough day today, That.
Speaker 3 (01:18:07):
Is not an excuse. You're exactly right. Both of those
places are just as miserable at this time, at this
time of year.
Speaker 2 (01:18:13):
Now, in the next couple of years, when the Browns
get their new facility that they want to build, it'll
be indoors and not on the lake and in a
Cleveland suburb. Different story, but the story is right now
not only Philip Rivers and the Colts leading the Seahawks,
but it is the injury to Micah Parsons and the
Broncos have just answered Troy Franklin a touchdown reception from
bow Nicks from twenty three yards out. Bronco's up twenty
(01:18:37):
seven to twenty three now in going for two in
this situation to make it a six point game. But
you saw a different angle on the Yeah, yeah, I
saw at a different angle. They showed the behind the
line of scrimmage from the quarterback view angle whatever that is.
I don't know the angle, but this one right here,
and he's coming off and that's kind of like your
Madden view right if you're playing Madden one hundred percent.
(01:18:58):
But he did.
Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
He took a step in that thing just looked unstable
and wobbly, almost like it went inward. So, yeah, it
did not look good at all.
Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
Colt's facing a third and five, they run a little
screen to a mirror Abdullah that goes nowhere. So they're
going to probably punt it back to the Seahawks in
a one point game with under nine minutes to go.
We told you the Broncos are going for two. The
Rams have the football back lines have been unable to
do anything offensively. Matthew Stafford's thrown for more than three
hundred yards. We have the highlight of Blake Korum getting
(01:19:26):
into the end zone. Kyrain Williams is a pair of touchdowns.
So the Rams really turning it on here with that
ten point lead against the Lions, forty nine ers trying
to turn it on against the Titans. Titans getting into
the end zone though it's a thirty one to seventeen game.
Tennessee just cashed in Jeffrey Simmons SA the defensive lineman,
catching a one yard pass from cam Ward in that
(01:19:49):
fourteen point contest, and the Panthers have the football back
getting a stop against the Saints up seventeen to ten
in that contest, that game has seven to fifty three.
I mentioned it was in the third quarter. Earlier in
the fourth quarter, seven to fifty three to go in
the fourth quarter between the Panthers and Saints. He is
carry Rhoads. I'm Dan Beyer. There were huge games today.
(01:20:10):
There's a way to figure out which was the biggest
of the big and how in the world did New
England blow a big lead against the Bills. We'll talk
about it next on Fox. They are coming down the
wire in these five games, all of them with the
outcome still in the balance, except maybe in Santa Clara
where the Niners are holding on to a two score lead.
(01:20:33):
But in Seattle, the Seahawks are driving. The Lions are
trying to convert a fourth and one down ten, and
they were able to do so. The Seahawks are in
the red zone with under four minutes to go. Philip
Rivers may need to have a comeback in his first
game back of his comeback. He has so much to
get to and the Packers have lost Micah Parsons. The
(01:20:55):
Broncos score soon after Parsons leaves with a knee injury,
and Bay is in Denver territory facing a crucial third
and eleven. It's what's going on here on end Zone
Radio on Fox Sports Radio. Quite a lot, Dan, I
think right now of the most importance just because of
the time of the game. It's what's happening in New
Orleans and what's happening in Seattle. Right now, the Seahawks
(01:21:18):
are at the fifteen yard line of the Colts with
three minutes to go. India has all three of their timeouts.
That's a one point game. The Saints right now with
the football inside the Panthers red zone and now they're
in the end zone. Chrysal LaVey has just caught a
touchdown pass with two thirty nine left to go, Tyler Shook.
With that pass to a lave you can probably still
kick the extra point here right and tie it up
(01:21:40):
and then go from there. If you're at New Orleans
in that scenario, no need to go for two at
this point with two and a half minutes left to go,
you have all three of your timeouts, plenty of game
left to play.
Speaker 3 (01:21:50):
Man, The Saints are playing spoilers the last couple of
weeks on. They're playing well with Tyler Suck at the helmet.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
I always wonder where the bottom is, when do you
bottom out as an organization and start the rebound up?
And I think people, and I admit myself, I thought
that the Saints were probably gonna be the worst team
in the NFL this year. That rebound may have happened
earlier this season, and now there's a bit of a
rebound and you can maybe take some of that momentum
(01:22:18):
in the next year. I mean, after the win that
they had last week against the Buccaneers, I mean, they
could sweep Carolina, right, you know, they meet him in
Carolina earlier this year and they did kick the extra
point and it's good. So yeah, I mean, yeah, Kellen
Moore is doing something right.
Speaker 3 (01:22:33):
I mean, obviously he's kind of like the they're forgotten
higher from this past cycle. I mean, nobody really talks
about him or his team that often. But for them,
they've been playing some really good football down the stretch here,
and like you said, it's some positive science for the future.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Sam Darnold look to hit Rashid Rashid Shaheed in the
end zone on a post route incomplete. So it's fourth
and six with two thirty to go and the Seahawks
have not scored a touchdown today. They will try to
settle or a field goal from Jason Myers. If he
makes it, it would be his fifth and would give
them the lead. If he doesn't make it. Seahawks do
(01:23:07):
have three timeouts and the two minute warning to stop
the clock. But Myers has been good from thirty two,
forty six, forty seven, and fifty two. This is of
the thirty two yard variety. In fact, it's about a
thirty yarder. So this would give the Seahawks the lead.
Speaker 3 (01:23:22):
And there's a scary time, Dan you give You've underperformed
all day obviously, haven't scored in the red zone yet
at all on offense, and you're up by two minutes
and twenty seconds left, and now you got old Man
Rivers would a chanced to go go down and win
the game.
Speaker 2 (01:23:39):
You don't want that story to happen. And only need
a field goal. That's it, right, because it's a two
point game because Carrie says the kick was good. The
Lions just made a kick as well, so that's a
seven point game against the Rams. So the Lions at
least doing something they couldn't do in the third quarter,
are able to get some offense going here, but the
Rams have just been a dominant so far in the
(01:24:00):
second half. That's a thirty four to twenty seven game
with seven fifty four to go. I would expect the
Rams to lean on the run, but then again, they
their lines have not stopped the Rams whatsoever. With DeVante
Adams out with a hamstring injury, could change their plans.
But the Rams right now, with the football up seven
(01:24:21):
and an interesting affair in La, I'm curious to see
on how aggressive Sean McVay is here with seven fifty
four left to go.
Speaker 3 (01:24:28):
Yeah, right now, for them, they're up by seven. They've
pretty much dominated since they're early onset of the game,
and right now this is what we would call an
extended four minute period. Right so what the Rams will
try to do here is obviously get a couple of
first downs, take their time, a tricky lake down the field,
and lead Detroit. I mean, obviously you want to score
(01:24:50):
more points to put the game out of reach, but
also if you can't leave them with as little time
as possible.
Speaker 2 (01:24:55):
In this scenario, the Packers ended up settling for a
field goal from Brandon McManus. So it's a twenty seven,
twenty six Denver lead. But there's still eleven minutes to
go in that game in Denver. So while a couple
of these games are are winding down with the Panthers
and Saints, and who knows Panthers and Saints mate be
heading into overtime these Seahawks and Colts here thirty six
(01:25:16):
career winning drive. Else for Philip Rivers, they just put
the stat up December twentieth of twenty twenty against Houston.
Imagine that, Carrie. Imagine a team calls you and says, Carrie,
we just need somebody to come in and just play
safety for a week. I'll say, coach, you're walking up
the wrong kid. But a week ago, Philip Rivers is
(01:25:39):
just sitting at home. Now he's standing at their own
thirty two yard line trying to lead a drive for
the Colts to win a game in Seattle. And Dan
he looked like one of those like created players on
Madden Like he looks like a little bigger than he
should be. And the soda paths are kind of old
school in big you know, yes, like nine yeah, where
(01:26:02):
not everything was defined exactly and precise.
Speaker 3 (01:26:06):
Man, if he wins this game, Dad, obviously number one,
it will hurt you and your team, and I understand that.
But the stories that are gonna come out will be
this is, this is Seattle has They cannot lose this game.
Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
I'm saying it right now. They can't the the how
big this game is for the Seahawks with a date
against the Rams coming up on Thursday in Seattle and
the Rams. Now I just mentioned it. Demante Adams had
to leave the game with a hamstring injury. Very likely
he would be able to return on a short week
with an injury like that, right, but this would be
(01:26:39):
I mean, the Seahawks, this is the game. They were
thirteen and a half point favorites, two touchdown favorites in
this game. Of course, this story would not be Seattle
blowing that. It would be all about yes, and you
don't want to be a part of that story. He's
gonna he's gonna be talking about this forever.
Speaker 3 (01:26:53):
He'd be like, man, you know what, he's gonna be
eighty years old in the rocking chair, Dan, He's gonna
be like, kids, remember that time I came out of
retirement for a week and beats you out.
Speaker 6 (01:27:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
No, it's it's gonna be crazy. It's gonna be a story. Yeah,
it's hauled over and over again. It's gonna be the
Philip Rivers game. It reminds me of when Baker Mayfield
came back for the Rams and won that Thursday night
game against the Raiders. Yep, and it's just kind of
known as the Baker Mayfield Rams game. I mean, he
was there for about four or five games and showed
up that week and started and let him do a victory. Now,
(01:27:24):
Baker Mayfield wasn't out of the game for five years
and isn't forty four years old, but still some parallels
to be drawn. The Rams haven't had to be aggressive
because they've been running the ball so well. Blake Carmer
on the end gets a big, chunky yardage. They're already
in Detroit territory inside the thirty yard and.
Speaker 3 (01:27:42):
They actually tried to be aggressive. Dan the first play
was a pass and it almost was a turnover. Soues.
Speaker 2 (01:27:47):
Let's just run it down their throats, take some time
off the field, and considering Detroit struggles in this second half,
you'd have to think that a field goal by the
Rams would allow them the cushion that they need at
ten points points and you'd be able to work the
clock in this In this scenario, all right, there is
a booth review going on in Carol, or excuse me,
in New Orleans, involving a catch that doesn't appear to
(01:28:11):
be made by Ted McMillan. I think the ball hit
the turf in that scenario, But the booth is gonna
look at it and we'll find out if Carolina is
able to get the first down that they need. On
a second down play from the twenty nine yard line,
the Packers, again without Micah Parsons, have just forced a
Denver punt. So it's fourth and three for Denver, punting
(01:28:34):
it back to Green Bay with nine minutes to go,
and now another Rams first down. You're saying in that,
in that, in that lion's contest down in Poka Nicolas,
do we just stop with the injuries today? Yes? I
mean first Patrick Mahomes, Oh yeah, I mean then Micah Parsons.
Now the top two Rams receivers, Poka nakua Is is
(01:28:58):
on the ground wincing. Don't want to speculate, so we
can What we can do is tell you what's happening
in Seattle where Philip Rivers was pressured on a second
down play. It's third and seven, so you have three
timeouts here? Do you punt it? That's where you're going.
I don't think that you can I and so I'm
(01:29:21):
curious on this third down play, Carrie, because Philip Rivers
hasn't been challenging. Do you even just take three yards
here to get it in a fourth and three? I
don't think that you can punt in this situation.
Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
I mean, yeah, it's gonna be tough. I mean you're
on the thirty five yard line as well.
Speaker 2 (01:29:39):
Let's say I would, yeah, if I'm the coach, throw
a back shoulder throw to a veteran like maybe not
the veteran that I thought, but it was Alec Pierce,
who's been in the league for at least a couple
of years. Oh, Dan, and now it's a first down
as they cross the midfield and bo Nicks on a
fourth down has just hit Courtland Sutton on a fourth
and three. They ended up going for it. Sean Payton,
(01:30:00):
the riverboat gambler that carry is, thinks that Sean Payton
just needs to slow it down a little bit with
some of those gambles a little bit. They were at
the forty three yard line of Kareen Bay and decided
to go for it again. About eight minutes to go
in that contest, Colts have all their time out, so
they got to the Seahawk forty nine yard line. It's
a fifteen to thirteen game. The graphic on television is
telling us they need to get about ten more yards
(01:30:24):
to get into legitimate field goal range for Indianapolis in this.
In this, Dan, I'm getting nervous for you, Dan. They're
right at midfield. Everybody's cheering for Philip Rivers. So the
Rams are in the end zone. Kobe Parkinson touchdown reception
for Matthew Stafford. So the Rams party continues. Yeah, we'll
(01:30:47):
have to get an update on what happened with Puka
and Nakua. If you see its shade, just feel to
let us know. But the Rams have extended their lead.
Blake Groupie is the kicker for the Colts, so that
would be to get to the thirty nine yard line.
In their scenario, that would have to be about a
That would be a fifty eight yard field goal. Fifty
seven to fifty eight yard field goal. In that scenario.
(01:31:10):
The past to Ted McMillan was incomplete. So the Panthers
have it third down and ten at their own twenty
nine yard line, still to twelve left to go, so
they haven't had the two minute warning. But Blake, Bryce
Young is able to escape pressure and get the first down,
carries out what you saw.
Speaker 3 (01:31:30):
Yeah, Dan, you know what happens when we put Bryce
Young in these situations. He may not do anything all game,
but in this moment, he's in his element right here,
two minute, he's a comeback.
Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
Kid, absolutely taking the run of the third down. So
they're going to get up to about the forty yard line.
So the career long for Blake Groupie is fifty seven
yards for the Indianapolis kicker, whether a little bit cooler
in Seattle? It's hard, Yes, it's hard to kick in Seattle.
I think you'd want to get a little bit closer.
The Colts on their first possession or on the first
snap did end up running the football with Jonathan Taylor.
(01:32:01):
Now it's a third and seven. The Seahawks have used
their timeouts after each of those. If the Colts get
any sort of yardage here, the Seahawks aren't going to
have any opportunity. So there's going to be an opportunity
for a game winning kick if you're Indianapolis, if you
get any sort of yardage on a third and seven,
a minute one to go, and the Colts are at
the forty six yard line, Philip Rivers seeing something in
(01:32:23):
the defense. This is why you bring him out of
retirement for third and seven with a minute left so
you can run a draw. He made the right teck
unless he was setting up so good, and you're like,
why couldn't Riley Leonard do that? As back, I was like,
he did make the right tech though, I'm sure that
was the right tech though, Dan, the Colts are going
(01:32:44):
to bring out are that group before the field goal.
He is on the field, unless he's just trying to
get a sense of his whereabouts because the Seahawks called
the time out, taking that time. I would you go
for it in this situation to get a few more yards, yes,
one d I mean unless I mean, obviously they're around
this guy. He may have the leg strength, but in Seattle,
(01:33:06):
like I said, it's hard, it's hard. It's hard for
kickers a lot of times to judge that wind out there,
so we'll see. I mean, I definitely would have gone
for to get closer than and Throughout the season, the
Colts have gone through a couple of kickers because of injuries,
but group he is two for two. He's made a
fifty four yarder in this contest. This's gonna be from
sixty yards. Wow, And the Seahawks don't have any timeouts.
(01:33:29):
The Colts still have all three of their timeouts. But
the kick is true. It long enough. Oh good, So
the Colts on a sixty yard field goal. Shane Steichen's
just as surprised as anybody, exactly, my Philip rivers and
(01:33:50):
the Colts are forty seven seconds away. Then, oh my goodness,
I'm pulling an upset that no one, no one saw coming.
And then this is gonna be.
Speaker 3 (01:34:00):
This is the thing once you get older, right, like
he got them to around midfield. He didn't do much,
but this story is going to grow. The legend's going
to get bigger.
Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
Oh yeah, that audible is going to be the audible
of all audibles. Exactly. I'm sitting there wondering if it's short.
It was good for another five yards it was, that
thing was. That was quite a kick. So the Colts
have taken a sixteen to fifteen lead on Seattle. We've
got enough action going on here. Wow, We're going to
(01:34:30):
see what happens with the Seahawks possession here, because that's
the story of the day. Like it truly is in
looking at Philip Rivers being able to lead this team.
Now fifty nine minutes and thirteen seconds into it, they
have a lead. Seahawks don't have any timeouts either, carry no, no,
(01:34:50):
and that's the other thing.
Speaker 3 (01:34:51):
They will call in those time outs early, and I
guess in theory they should have because they got the
ball back with a chance to go get a field
goal themselves. But yeah, this is one of those games
where you're gonna look back, and we talked about it
like all games aren't ment equal, aren't aren't created equal.
You can't lose this game to the Colts in this situation,
not with what their schedule is bringing up down the
(01:35:12):
stretch here.
Speaker 2 (01:35:12):
Correct, So the Broncos are driving, They're facing a third
and three, and now an incomplete pass looking for a
little Jordan Humphrey in the end zone was bo Nicks,
So denver likely to settle for a field goal. With
seven thirty two, Panthers still have the football, but they
are unable to get a first down, so they're gonna
have to punt it back, I believe to the to
the Saints in this scenario. So the this is the Titans,
(01:35:37):
by the way, got into the end zone against San Francisco,
so that's a thirty four to twenty four game. Wow,
we kind of let the Titans game kind of go
by the wayside. But twenty Pollard at a six yard run,
so that's a ten point game, thirty four to twenty four.
Sam Darnold ends up finding that Rashid shahed up to
about the forty seven yard line, so with forty seconds left,
(01:36:00):
he got a little bit more more time in these
in these scenarios. So now Seattle probably about five yards
away from what they think could be a game winning
attempted field goal. The Lions have the football, they're in
Rams territory, but down fourteen the Broncos. By the way
on that fourth the third down play, green Bay had
(01:36:20):
twelve men on the field, so that's going to set up.
Green Bay tried to get someone off at the last
second and they could not get them off the field,
so nailed for twelve men on the field. So it's
now a first in goal situation for Denver as they're
at the green Bay four yard line. Back to Seattle
where there's twenty eight seconds left to go and the
(01:36:42):
Seahawks are at the Colts forty six yard line and
Sam Darnold hits Shaheed again. I got a question and
he gets out of bounds. Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:36:51):
Man and that Denver game, you know, you know, you
know Son Peyton. You think he's going you think he's
going for two here to put the game out of reach. Yeah,
that would be that would be That would be the
smart play.
Speaker 2 (01:37:03):
That would be a smart play. That would be the
smart play. We're gonna have some breaking news here in
just a little bit with Manzi Milanos, but we want
to tell you what's happening with the third and two
in Seattle. So the Seahawks r j Harvey into the
end zone for Denver on that touchdown run, they're kicking
the extra point. As for what's happening in Seattle, it's
(01:37:26):
a third and two and Darnold kind of just spikes
one to Jackson Smith and Jigba not wanting to risk anything,
and so now they're going to go for a long
field goal attempt they had. I don't love that play
because I think they had enough time if you could
complete the pass. I don't think that they needed just
(01:37:47):
five more yards. You needed twenty more yards, like like
truly like to let the game rest. Just because the
other team kicked a sixty yard field goal doesn't mean
you're going to How far is fifty? So it's now
fifty six yards on the attempt for Jason Myers. This
could be the difference between the Philip Rivers lower story.
So Myers kick is up, it looks and it's going
(01:38:09):
the room. There's still time. There's eighteen seconds left in
Philip every time timeouts. Let's get to the breaking news
with Monty Milanos.
Speaker 1 (01:38:22):
Breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 4 (01:38:25):
Well, guys, I was thought we were gonna get the
news tomorrow, but it has been confirmed that Patrick Mahomes
tore his ACL, and about thirty minutes ago, Mahomes tweeted
out something he put don't know why this happened and
not going to lie. It hurts, but all we can
do is trust in God and attack every single day,
over and over again. Thank you Chiefs Kingdom for always
supporting me, and for everyone who has reached out and
(01:38:46):
said prayers. I will be back stronger than ever. So
torn ACL.
Speaker 2 (01:38:51):
Patrick Mahomes, Jeez, you knew the Chiefs were out of
it with the elimination, but it just changes the dynamic
of everything of now it's just his question his health,
Travis Kelsey's future, which I think we kind of knew. Yeah,
but yeah, just awful news from Kansas City.
Speaker 9 (01:39:10):
Quick update on Puka Nakua. Aaron Andrews on the broadcast
said that it's just cramps. Okay s pusedly it should
just be cramps, but we'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (01:39:19):
Yeah, and Shay, I'm glad you said that because the
lines are at third and goal and if they end
up not scoring here, we may not see Pooka on
the field, so we wouldn't necessarily know his status and
think that it maybe was injury related. Man a lot
going out a lot and so much guess.
Speaker 12 (01:39:35):
And Michael Parsons has been ruled out with any injury officially.
Speaker 2 (01:39:38):
All right, back to back to bath. Jeez goodness. So
the Seahawks lead eighteen to sixteen, the kick brought out
to the thirty yard line with eleven seconds left to go.
The Packers trail the Broncos by eight, with a first
and ten at their own thirty four yard line. The
lines down two scores have it fourth and goal at
(01:39:58):
the Rams five, while the Saints now have the football
back under a minute to go. But inside their own
ten yard line, tied up at seventeen with Carolina, and
the Niners in brock Perty are just trying to put
away the Titans at this point. Man, I don't know
where to look, Dan, I don't know what to say.
Let's look at Seattle. Let's look and see what Philip
Rivers is able to do in these situations. And he's
(01:40:23):
gonna have to throw it downfield. Oh my goodness, did
you see? How did you see that ball? And it
just was overthrown and picked off by Kobe Bryant as
the Seahawks will escape with an eighteen to sixteen winn
Did you see that? Yes? That I told you, If
(01:40:44):
you make him throw the ball over ten yards, it's
just he can't do it. That was That was bad.
I mean, I kudos to the cold. The guy was
probably in his truck listening to us last week at
this time. I can't blame him, like I truly can't
blame him. Jared Goff's fourth goal pass in the end
zone incomplete to Amna Saint Brown. However, or am st Brown,
(01:41:07):
there is a flag on the play. I don't know
if the pass was deflected or not, but there was
pressure in Golf's face. Oh and maybe in illegal hands
to the face. Yeah. And Jordan Love's pass just picked
off after it was tipped up in the air intended
for down Tavian Wicks. So the Broncos get a turnover
up eight in that contest. But man, Philip Rivers and
(01:41:28):
the Colts won an effort, but the Seahawks get the
late field goal and the interception. Man, uh, this is yeah,
this is a lot going on then. Wow. I mean Seattle,
like we said, they.
Speaker 3 (01:41:44):
They avoided one of the biggest losses and most catastrophic
losses all season. I'm saying that. Yeah, in all honesty,
that would have been devastating for.
Speaker 2 (01:41:54):
Them to luc to a guy who was in his
pickup truck a week ago just cruising around listening to
us on the radio. Yeah, yeah, I think that. But
like the it was worth it. It was completely worth it.
I don't know what's going to happen over these next
three weeks. I have no idea, but it was completely
worth it to bring in Philip Rivers for what transpired today.
Speaker 3 (01:42:16):
It was and yeah, I'll take you for that and Dan,
because I obviously I don't think it was a smart
move at all.
Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
But we all watched and we all tune in to
see what's going to happen. So yeah, and they almost won.
And the Lions just got into the end zone David
Montgomery a one yard touchdown run. So it's forty one
thirty three. I would assume the lines are they going
to kick the extra point here? Okay? I thought maybe
they would go for two in the scenario the normal
way nowadays, when you see it down eight and the
(01:42:49):
chance to kick the extra point or go for two,
teams go for two. A lot of times they kick
the extra point. So it's forty one thirty four. The
Saints Panthers game is tied up at seventeen with twelve
seconds left to go. These Saints are near midfield and
he will get a little bit closer to getting field
goal range. And the who told you the Seahawks ended
up beating the Colts Niners up ten on the Titans
(01:43:12):
thirty four to twenty four. That game is at the
two minute warning in San Francisco. That's a ten point lead,
and the forty nine ers have it third and seven
at the Tennessee twenty eight may kick a field goal,
could put it on the other side of the number.
So something to watch there. He's Carry Roads. I'm Dan
Byer will tell you how all these games conclude. Next
an end zone radio on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:43:32):
Cold said, Seahawks off the left hash mark, here's the spot,
kick us away the fans.
Speaker 9 (01:43:39):
JAF told you.
Speaker 1 (01:43:40):
Jason Myers with his sixth the field goal of the day.
Speaker 10 (01:43:46):
That's set a new Seahawks franchise record.
Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
Six three pointers back.
Speaker 1 (01:43:52):
To Dan Byer and Carry Rhoades.
Speaker 2 (01:43:55):
Basically Steph Curry it with a three pointers for Jason
Byers Man Seahawks Radio Network on the call. The Philip
Rivers story was great, it just didn't have the happy
ending that Colts fans were hoping for, and the Seahawks
get the win over Indianapolis. There was just another final
in the NFL, a game decided by a field goal,
(01:44:17):
and it happened in New Orleans, m As the Saints
have topped the Panthers twenty to seventeen, Charlie Smith with
the game winning field goal. Panthers had a few seconds
left on the clock to try to do something and
tried a lateral play that just went nowhere. So the
Saints sweep the season series. W from the Panthers, and
(01:44:39):
the Panthers, who had a prime opportunity to grab control
of the NFC South, just let it go.
Speaker 3 (01:44:44):
Nobody wants to win that division, obviously, Dan, I mean
you come into the season, a lot of us thought
that that could possibly be the Falcons or the Buccaneers.
I mean, nobody had the Panthers contending at this point
to win that division. They see Tampa Bay lose and
they come back and have a chance to, you know, finally,
you know, kind of seize a little bit of control
(01:45:05):
of that the vision, and they come out and lose
it to saying it's just a terrible loss for the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (01:45:09):
Shade told us that Pooka Nakua had some cramps. He's
back into the game. The Rams facing a third and six,
the Lions don't have any more timeouts. They hand it
off to Nikua, who runs the ball and gets almost
one out of bounds but gets down and now Nkua
is just getting up slowly. Just hand it off to
Kyraen Williams, right right, what do you do? I think
they're trying to take a few more ticks off the
(01:45:31):
clock before maybe ultimately punting the ball. I'll give it
to another receiver, Dan, Yes, absolutely, find somebody else. And
the Rams have a forty one to thirty four lead
on the Lions with forty five seconds accounting. They're going
to take it down to about twenty two seconds. The
Rams do have a timeout, they don't even need to
use it here. If they want to punch, just take
(01:45:52):
the delay of game and punt it away. But they
are going to line up, I think, to try to
draw the Lions off sides. Yeah, it's not Sean Payton.
It's Sean McVay on that sideline carry roads. You know,
I got a little PTSD when I hear Sean. Sean
Payton's been risking it with the biscuit for the Broncos,
but right now it's paid off thirty four to twenty six.
(01:46:14):
Bo Nicks just taking a run. It's gonna be third down.
The clock is gonna get to the two minute warning. Yeah,
So Denver's gonna have the ball in Green Bay territory
on a third and four, and if Denver gets those
four yards, they'll leave with an eight point victory. Right
the Rams have decided to punt the ball. They took
the delay of game, so with twenty three seconds left.
(01:46:35):
The Lions are gonna have a likely a long field
as you just would want to boot this one through
the back of the end zone.
Speaker 3 (01:46:41):
Yeah for sure. I mean yeah, they're gonna try to
pin them deep. They're gonna try to pin them inside
the ten. Obviously that's the goal. But yeah, just punt
the ball away and play defense and get a win.
Speaker 2 (01:46:51):
It's funny because we talk about all of these outcomes
and the San Francisco forty nine ers just keep on
plugging away. Yeah, going around, just sitting there at the
bottom of the NFC playoff picture, and there is a
point today at one point with the Rams and Seahawks
both losing, which, by the way, Kerrie made the point
at the top of the six o'clock eastern three o'clock hour,
(01:47:14):
stopped me in my tracks, says, by the way, before
we get into what you wanted to talk about, the
Rams and Seahawks are winning these games, and the Seahawks won,
and the Rams are about thirteen seconds away as the
Lions need to go eighty yards to score. Thank you, Dan,
I appreciate it. So that's a great call, a great
call for you. What have we got, Shay I'm sorry. Okay,
let's hear the Saints game winner out from New Orleans
(01:47:35):
Saints great three.
Speaker 6 (01:47:36):
There's the pass and this begins the laterals, and that's
already on the ground and the ball is loose and
the Saints are going to get on it and doesn't matter,
ladies and gentlemen, that is the ball game. The Saints
trail and a half time, but Charlie Smith, the Pride
of Ireland, will kick the Saints to victory as they
(01:47:58):
win twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:48:00):
Seventeen WUWL in the Saints network, I'm even more I'm
even more confused. Now, Dan, is it not Smith? If
he's on Ireland? It is Smith? Yeah, No, I know
it's Smith. I'm saying like he say, it's in Ireland.
I'm like that. Make changes a little little lateral play
for the Lions to get them up to about the
forty one yard line, but they are unable to spike
(01:48:21):
it and time is gonna run out, so the Rams
will leave with a forty one thirty four victory. As
the Rams have clinched a playoff Berth and the Lions
now even more of an uphill climb in a loaded NFC.
Speaker 3 (01:48:35):
It is Dan, we might be looking at the playoffs
without the Lions obviously obviously without the Chiefs and maybe
even the Ravens as well, because I mean, all these
teams are teams that were coming in, were favorites to
make it to the Super Yes, and all three of
them are in danger of not being there.
Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
And the Colts, no matter how great today ended up.
Oh yeah, another loss on the Ledger is they are
on the outside looking in. We talked about how top
heavy it felt like the NFC was. Now you're seeing
that separation in the AFC. You're seeing the teams separate themselves,
with teams like Houston and Jacksonville playing better. At the Chargers,
even with all of their injuries, able to battle through it,
(01:49:16):
winning football games and ending up winning on Monday Night
against the Eagles. Like think think about that, Like think
about the week that the Chargers just had, justin Herbert
breaks his hand, has surgery, leads them to a win
against the Eagles on Monday night, and then they go
and go to Kansas City and beat the Chiefs. Yeah,
that was the only thing, ye And that was the thing. Dan.
Speaker 3 (01:49:36):
I was like, they playing a short week, and I
was like, the Chiefs are going to fight, and so
it was going to be a scary game. But for
them to go out and get these two wins big time.
Speaker 2 (01:49:44):
So the Broncos and Packers the only game that's still
going on right now, and the Broncos going to get
the first as on a third and four, the question
is bon Nicks was diving for a first down, but again,
as a quarterback, I think there are rules to sliding
and diving, but they put them up to the one
(01:50:04):
yard line, and the Broncos in this scenario are going
for it and not getting it.
Speaker 3 (01:50:15):
I told you, sound what are then field gold ryans? Dan, Yes,
you take the field goal and be up by two scores.
I mean, I understand fourth and one going for it.
I understand it, but it's just it's gonna catch up
to you at some point.
Speaker 2 (01:50:31):
I pride myself on unknowing names in numbers in the
National Football League. Denver just handed it off to Tom Rathman,
a fullback Adam Prenis. I know Adam Preniss's name, but
I also know that he's a fullback. That it wasn't
r J. Harvey, that it wasn't bone Nicks on a
(01:50:54):
quarterback sneak. So now green Bay takes over first and
ten with a minute seven to go. They don't have
any time out, but green Bay is down eight in
this contest. Allows us to go to the news desk, Mont,
you can tell us everything else that's going on. I mean,
just an absolutely crazy, devastating everything you want to put
about it. Week fifteen of the NFL season.
Speaker 4 (01:51:13):
Legit, I don't even I don't even know where to start, honestly, Like,
it's just been a wild day. I just said to Shall,
I was like, I've been looking at this Packers Broncos game.
I've been looking at the store, at the score, and
this old time I thought I thought green Bay was
up this whole time.
Speaker 12 (01:51:27):
And I was like, wait, Denver's up. When did this
happen this whole time? It's a whole I just I cannot.
Speaker 4 (01:51:34):
So Broncos are up thirty four to twenty six, but
there's about a minute to go. We'll go to the
games that have already wrapped up here. The Rams are
the first team to get into the postseason after defeating
the Lines forty one to thirty four, where Matthew Stafford
completed twenty four of thirty eight passes for three one
hundred and sixty eight.
Speaker 12 (01:51:50):
Yards and two touchdowns. He did have one interception. But
who is right? And yes, scary the Saints are playing spoiler.
I mean why not? Why not get some rhythm into it.
Speaker 4 (01:52:00):
At the end of the season with Tyler Shook, they
walked it off against the Panthers with the field goal
to win it twenty to seventeen. The forty nine Ers
outscored the Titans thirty seven to twenty four. Forty nine
ers let the Titans score twenty four points. That should
be a topic of conversation right there. Brock Perdy twenty
three of thirty for two hundred and ninety five yards
and three touchdowns, and the Seahawks survived with just field goals.
Speaker 12 (01:52:22):
They ended up beating the Colts eighteen to fifteen.
Speaker 4 (01:52:24):
Philip Rivers Grandpa Rivers, Uncle Phil whatever eighteen of twenty seven,
one hundred and twenty yards, one touchdown and one interception.
They came on that final drive trying to make a
hell Mary out of the situation, So not too shabby
for Grandpa Rivers. Earlier in the day, the Chargers held
on sixteen to thirteen against the Chiefs. Kansas City has
been eliminated from the playoffs for the first time since
(01:52:45):
twenty fourteen. But even bigger news in case you missed it,
that Patrick Mahomes did tear his acl so that is
what the Chiefs will be dealing with moving forward. The
Bills were down twenty one points, it didn't matter. They
came back to beat the Patriots on the road thirty
five to thirty one. Eagles shut out the Raiders thirty
one zero. By the way, the Raiders are the first
team to be shut out twice in a single season
(01:53:06):
since the two thousand Browns the Ravens. They also shut
out the Bengals twenty four to zero, so Cincinnati is
officially eliminated from playoff contention as well. The Bears rolled
past the Browns thirty one to three was the final score.
The Jaguars crushed the Jets forty eight to twenty, where
Trevor Lawrence accounted for six touchdowns in the game. The
Commanders defeated the Giants twenty nine to twenty one, and
(01:53:28):
the Texans outscored the Cardinals forty to twenty.
Speaker 12 (01:53:31):
Where CJ.
Speaker 4 (01:53:32):
Stroud threw for two hundred and sixty yards and three
touchdowns and Trey McBride, who's had a great year, had
twelve catches, one hundred and thirty four yards and two
touchdowns for the Cardinals in the loss. And if I
didn't mention it, the Vikings have also been eliminated from
the playoff space.
Speaker 12 (01:53:46):
On everything that has happened to.
Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
Day, are you talking about Arizona Cardinals? Tun on Trey McBride,
I'd like to say, drink a grum and the game.
All right, Dan, we've been practicing that one my heritage,
the German accent four years in high school, semester in college. Yes,
there you go, got some retention. No, no, not at all,
(01:54:12):
thank you. Fourth and fifteen for the Packers on their
own thirty three yard line, no timeouts left, and Jordan
Love is hit as he throws looking for Matthew Golden
across the middle. Incomplete. Denver wins. But maybe the bigger
loss is the Micah Parsons injury. But what were you
going to say?
Speaker 3 (01:54:31):
I was about to say that puts the Bears back
in first place in that division? Correct, Yes, after the win,
after their win today and green Bay loss, green Bay
Fallston nine four and one, and that drops him all
the way to the sixth spot, right or the seventh spot.
Speaker 2 (01:54:46):
The nine four one? Yeah, I don't know if it's updated. Yeah,
they'd be in seven because the forty nine ers at
ten and four would be ahead of them. Oh what
a late window. It is not this pointed. We'll have
our MVPs in coming up in just a second, but
a quick breaking news back to the news desk with Manzi, Manzi,
(01:55:08):
what do you got?
Speaker 12 (01:55:10):
Oh yeah, really quick here.
Speaker 4 (01:55:13):
Adam Schefter just tweeted that the initial belief is that
Packers edge rusher Michael Parson suffered at torn ACL yep, I.
Speaker 2 (01:55:19):
Did not it looked. Yeah, yeah, geez my goodness. Yeah,
it's been a rough day for injuries. Lots of exciting
games but also some devastating injuries as well. He's carry Roads.
I'm Dan Byer, back with more here on Fox Sports Radio,
end Zone Radio. On Fox Sports Radio. He's carry Rhodes.
I'm Dan Bayer. It's week fifteen. Time now for our MVPs.
Speaker 15 (01:55:40):
You know what time it is, PJ.
Speaker 10 (01:55:42):
I'm this is Fox Sports and Zone Radio and most
Valuable plays, don't Falcons and Buccaneers staff spot kick five
