worthy of a national platform.
Speaker 2 (00:17):
I would say, Kevin.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Coming up in the second hour of the show, we
will talk to Petros Papadekas, college football analyst for Fox
and FS one close personal friend.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Yeah, absolutely, I mean he knows us pretty well, but
trying to bite a real show exactly and he knows
what we're up to.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
If you guys don't know, I was on Tim Conway
and I know it's a local news show here in
southern California earlier KF I am six forty.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
But they're the son of former famous comedian Tim Conway Senior.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
We're talking of Tim Conway junior.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
And he was great, by the way, in Liquors Pizza,
the Last pt Anderson movie.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
He was awesome.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
But uh, he brought me on earlier and he was
kind of getting the gist of the show. He's familiar
with us, but I was given show. Huh, how's it
go nignbe. He's a legend here in southern California. Of
course in kf I am six forty is your news
leader more stimulating talk radios.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
I think how they would put it, at least back
in the early two thousands.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
But I told him, oh, we're you know, Petro's money.
They're called pms well Ken figures, Adam Asland.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
We are called FNA, FNA Cotton FA And.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
I know we're new here on Fox Sports Radio, but
FNA on FSR, it just rolls off the tongue nicely.
Speaker 2 (01:28):
I think, so easily, right. I hope you guys are
enjoying it. Yeah, Souse, we ain't going nowhere with Leosay
and Wolfe wall Street.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Bring it back our weekly staples here during football season
we have two on too often the show. We have
our NFL six pack that will happen at the top
of next hour as well.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
One of our great center pieces and features here on
the FNA show.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
I got a lot to get into and not a
lot of time, Adam, So maybe let's just get things
started here with first off.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Time. That's wrong, so let's starting in Green Bay. Go
back to Thursday night.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
If anyone had any doubts as to whether or not
the Packers working tender and look, some people kind of
questioned it coming into the season before they even made
the trade for Marca Parsons. Yeah, they're good, but that's
a tough division that they're in. Don't know if Jordan
Love is kind of ready to make that next step.
And I realized it's only two games in, but so
far they look like they could be the team to
beat in the NFC.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
You know, there's a guy around here somewhere that picked
them to win the Super Bowl this season after they
got Michael Parsons. Now, maybe it was partially because when
we were filling out our little Fox Sports bracket predictions
with who's gonna meet in the Super Bowl and who's
gonna win and who's gonna be the surprise team this season,
Kevin was right above me, and I didn't want to
just cheat off of what he did, even though he
(02:45):
might be right.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
My predictions are horrible. No, come on, now, come on, now,
who did you have the Ravens? I believe I picked Baltimore.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Yes see, that's aging really well after the way they
performed on Sunday Night, especially in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Wait a second.
Speaker 4 (02:57):
Now they can redeem themselves on that game.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Yeah, you know how many games that Ravens should have
won over the past five years.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Oh, we'll get to John Harbaugh. There's a lot of them.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
He will be under the hot microphone or under the
hot lamp. I should say he will feel your wrath
later in the show. He will, he will. But I
was thinking about picking them. So one of the main
reasons I took Green Bay was just to not pick
exactly who picked right in front of me, which was
you on the same list.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
So everybody sees that and.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Goes, oh, adam just copying off, you know, the other
student's paper.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
I don't want to get accused of cheating here. I don't.
I don't need any more of that right now. Well,
so far through two games and what is a very
long season, looks like a good choice. It's like a
smart choice.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Now.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Look, I will say the passing game not quite well
oiled yet. And shocker, they lost another receiver, Jade Reed
a broken collar bones till he's out for a while.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
It's been an issue They've gotten by without guys before.
But eventually you're gonna need pretty much everybody healthy if
you want to win the big one.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
I will say they're kind of doing it by committee.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
They do have a lot of young receivers, and they
sped spread the ball around a lot. They're taking a
lot of shots down field, which is why his completion
percentage might not be as high as people would like.
I think it's still around sixty five sixty six percent.
The upper echelon of your quarterbacks are usually over seventy
at this point. But again, it's only a couple of
games against two really good teams. By the way, I mean,
we're talking about the Commanders who were in the NFC
(04:17):
Championship game, you know, last season, and the Detroit Lions,
who you know, were the favorites for a lot of
people going into the postseason. Had it not been for
a lot of injuries down the stretch, probably could have
made a deeper run into the postseason.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
Yeah, I mean, the Lions were the number one seed
in the NFC last season.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
They were that good. It was just too much attrition
kept caught up with them.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
But the last three weeks of the year, they just
lost too many important players when it matter at most.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
Being in the NFC North will do that. There will
be some injuries somewhere and tear hurting stuff.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
But Micah Parsons so far through two games limited snaps,
by the way, very limited, one and a half sacks,
three hurries. That's without a training camp and with an
ailing back.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
So he was in forty five percent of the defensive
snaps against the Lions and sixty eight percent against the Commanders,
and he still has been extremely effective and in rhythm
and doing his thing getting after the quarterbacks. You know what,
the tukests of each quarterback he's gone after, and that's
probably been the most impressive thing to me because I'm
(05:14):
a believer in Jordan Love, I'm a believer in their
offense with the Green Bay Packers. But the reason I
picked them, outside of not wanting to pick the Ravens
because Kevin did, was because I felt like Micah Parsons
could put their defense over the top.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
And they were good already.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
I think they were very good, but he can be
the cherry on top for them. And holding two prolific
offenses too well below their season averages in points per game,
the Lions and now the Commander's being held to just
eighteen points in that twenty seven to eighteen win on
Thursday night in green Bay. Both games at home so
far for the Packers, by the way, that should be mentioned,
(05:52):
but their defenses look dominant out there.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
I would say the performance against Washington was even more
impressive because the choit we knew there were moving parts.
They lost a couple of starting offensive linemen, they lost
their offensive coordinator. They bring in a new offensive coordinator
who was not with them last year. He was with
them three years ago. But things have changed obviously since then.
So they're still getting their sea legs under them when
it comes to offense. But Washington brought back everyone, added
(06:17):
Deebo Samuel, you still have Cliff Kingsbury as your offensive coordinator.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
The continuity is still there.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
And I don't know, it looked to me like, you know,
they were running in quicksand and green Bay, you know,
had the you know, they got the flower from Mario
and they started running really fast, you know, or the
star from Mario. That's how green Bay looked, And it
looked like Washington was just.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Moving in molasses. Yeah, it was really odd to see.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
Honestly, the score was probably closer than the game actually
felt because green Bay was dominant, didn't Deebo get a
late touchdown too.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Yeah. Now it's one of those weird things.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
And this happens in the NFL a lot where a
team is dominating everywhere except the score, and I think
that was the case for like eighty percent of this game.
So if you want to point that out as a
bit of an issue for Green Bay, sure, I say,
you know, through a seventeen game NFL season, you're gonna
have games like this where, for whatever reason, things are
a little bit closer than they actually are.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
So maybe while it's the best of times for one team,
a team that acquired Micah Parsons, I'm not gonna say
it's the worst of times for the Dallas Maverick or
for the Dallas Mavericks. So Micah Parsons stuff is never
going away. That parallel Fredi and slip, of course, but the.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Dallas the winning championships in the next couple of years
and getting the last laugh, Okay, that could still happen.
Highly doubtful, Yeah, very very doubtful.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
But the other side of the story is every time
Green Bay wins, now the Dallas Cowboys have to answer
questions about why they moved on for Micah Parsons.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Now we got thank you Jerry Chance and Michaeh Parson's
leading the charge for the crowd out there in Lambeau,
which I would too.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
By the way, did Laker fans say thank you Nico
Nico Harrison?
Speaker 4 (08:00):
He gave him so Yeah, that sounds about right, and
they're deserved. But my position was, and I still stand
on it. I'm standing on business here. I may die
on this hill and I may end up being galactically
stupid and wrong for having this position. I just don't
think Michael Parsons puts the Dallas Cowboys over the top.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
Well.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
I felt like him going to Green Bay he could
be that player that enhances the defense and makes them
a Super Bowl contender type.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
And that wasn't gonna happen in Dallas.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
But I'll say this, the Cowboys didn't look that bad
against the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
They were close in that.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Game, which for me, and I think part of that
is Dak Prescott looks to be a much better shape
than he was to go in going into last season.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
He looks like twenty twenty three guys.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
He was accurate. I mean, they probably I can say
they probably win. They have an even greater chance of
winning that game of ceedee Lamb doesn't drop a couple
of for him really easy catches in the fourth quarter
on those last couple of drives.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yeah, the last one was that's a really tough catch,
But the other two those are great balls from Dak Prescott.
It's my quarterback.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
So I think it actually makes the trade look a
little bit worse if this is what the offense is
going to look like and the defense can't compete to
a certain degree. Now in the second half, they were
because Philadelphia did not punt a single time in the
first half. I think neither team punted, to be honest
with you, in the first half.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
That is usually indicative of your defense not playing very
well with the other team never bunts.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
You're right, so I know. So the Cowboys make the
move with Parsons. The public sentiment they want to allocate
more money to get more players in and they want
to be able to stop the run, like, we're not
gonna be able to find out long term what that
looks like. Well, for one, as far as getting better
players in, until you get those two first round picks,
that's gonna take a little bit of time, and then
for the rest of the season, We're gonna have to
(09:49):
figure out exactly whether or not they're going to be
improved against the run. I will say in Week one
against Philadelphia, they gave up one hundred and fifty yards rushing. Now, granted,
sixty two of that was Jalen, so I do think
you have to take that into account. It's not like
Sakuon Barkley did not get off. I think he had
three point three yards per carry, so he didn't do
a whole lot.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
No, you're taking on the defending champs on ring night,
a division rival on the road. I thought they acquitted
themselves pretty well all things considered, but we're gonna find
out a lot more against the Giants of course, this
weekend back in Dallas. I just think they have fatal
flaws because of Dak Prescott.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
It's my quarterback.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
I'm not trying to be a hater.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
I'm rooting for him. But he's thirty two, and I
just wonder is he a ceiling razor or a lower
err And I just I haven't seen enough of him
in the biggest moments to believe that he can be
a Super Bowl winning quarterback. And he's not a top
ten quarterback in the league, and typically you're not winning
a super Bowl without one.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
I think I've heard former Panthers GM, Marty Herney, someone
who great man, yeah exactly talk about certain guys, and
people have different verbets for how they describe these, but
he said there's win because guys that win with guys.
I think Dak Prescott potentially with the right roster around him,
can be a win with guy, but he needs a
lot to elevate him, mainly a running game because he
(11:07):
has all the offensive weapons as far as being ever
to throw the ball, But when it comes to actually
closing games out, I still don't know if I trust
their run game. One thing I will say, if their
offense is gonna look the way that it looked in
Week one and actually start firing and they get pickings
involved a little bit more, I think that's where Micah
Parsons actually does help your defense, even if your defense
is in the lower third when it comes to giving
(11:27):
up yards, Parsons is one of those guys.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Who's a closer.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
So so many of these games now in the NFL,
or just in history, just the way the game is
built can be decided on one or two plays. A
perfect example, go to Seattle in San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Last week.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
San Francisco gets the shortest Hail Mary I've ever seen
from brock Party to the end zone, just threw it
up for grabs.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
That was an absolute three flies up ball that miraculously
is tight end not George Kiitto came down with.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Correct which all credit in the world to him for
bringing it in.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Cat So on the other side, Seattle is now they
get some momentum, they drive down towards the red zone
and all of a sudden stripsack fumble. San Francisco gets
the ball and they close out the game because they
have a guy named Nick Bosa. I think having guys
that important And I mentioned when we talked about this
a few weeks ago this happened with Khalil Mack with
the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
There are games that year.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
They won twelve games and just happened to miss the
They made the postseason as a wild card and had
to go on the road to Houston, which is ridiculous,
but that's a different topic for a different day.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Was that with or without Derek Carr they made the
post well, they made them play.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
They clinched the postseason birth with Derek Carr healthy, then
he got injured I think the second to last regular
season game, and they had to go in there with
Matt McGloin I think was their starting quarterback.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
Then he got hurt.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
That's not Car's fault, no, and maybe that changed the
trajectory of his career to some degree because of that
broken leg.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
But they won.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
I can think of at least two or three games
off the top of my head that they won on
defensive plays, may by Khalil Mack at the end of games.
Like I understand trying to build out a better roster
and all of that, and all of it makes sense,
but the way I look at it is, if you
have a potential all time great, I think that's where
your GM and your scouts try to find a way
to fortify a roster around that person, as opposed to saying, well,
(13:09):
if he wants a lot of money, we can't pay him,
Ship him out and see if we can bring in
some other good players, a handful of good players. I
don't think we'll place a great player, especially at a
premium position like pass rusher. So that's been my point
this whole time about the Parsons deal.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Let me ask you this because you're being logical and
sensible and reasonable and trying to It's hard to disagree
with your point of view on this, and I'm definitely
in the minority when it comes to making this move.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
And to be fair to me, if I was the GM.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
I would have traded him back when they knew this
could have happened when free agency opened up, and his
price and the value he would have brought in would
have been much better. Or I would just wait till
the end of the season or later in the season,
even as teams start to separate themselves, somebody might hand
(13:59):
over a lot if they feel like Micah Parsons could
be the difference between them winning the division or making
a deep run. The timing of it does bother me.
It was not optimal, and I think that part of
it was boshed, especially because I heard Jerry Jones say this.
I think this was yeah just yesterday talking about green
(14:22):
Bay because they have to answer questions about green Bay
all the time, which is a little bit of a
distraction too.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Well.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Yeah, and when it happens that close to the season
starting and one team is thriving, you've only played one
game so far, you lost close to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Not all is lost, but it creates storylines that you
don't necessarily need.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
This happened.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
I know you're gonna get to Jerry's quote, but and
I hate to keep going back to this, but I
think it's the most important, relevant and recent comp Khalil Mack.
He gets traded too the Bears, I think on the
eve of opening Day, or maybe they had one preseason
game left, whatever it was, and they play on a
Sunday or a Monday night, and he has like three
or four sacks open a night and John Gruden gets
asked about it every other week. Becau Khalil Mack is
(15:00):
picking up three and a half sacked, He's like, are
you kidding me? He's really playing that well? He's like, yeah, John,
what'd you think? Of course he is.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
Meanwhile, you got this rag tag defensive line that can't
get pressure on anybody.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
Let me ask you this, though, Is it clear and
definitive that the Raiders truly did lose the Khalil Mack trade?
Speaker 2 (15:20):
I would say so. So you look at the draft
picks that they got.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
So Jonathan Abram was one of the picks, was a
safety out of Mississippi State, who I don't even think
is in the league anymore. Josh Jacobs I believe might
have been their own first round pick.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
He was good. He's been a really good player when healthy.
He's now in Green Bay.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
Ie, they've got Jacobs in the Khalil Mack trade.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
I could be wrong, Okay, And look, let's say if
they did, he ain't there now, like, oh, it's not
like Khalil Max still with the Bears though either. No.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
But even with that, it's like, how much of an
impact did he actually make? You got two first round
picks out of the deal, two first round picks and
I think a third round pick, And what did it
end up? Did it get you a group of good
players that led you into the future, made you better?
Because that's what the argument is when you make deals
like this, This is your trade away a great player
and get a bunch of good players to replace them,
(16:08):
and we're gonna end up being better for it.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
But the other side is right now, we're complimenting Green
Bay because it looks like they obviously made the right move.
They're in a position to have a guy like Micah
Parsons just really turned them into a devastating defense in
the NFC.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Did the Bears have a time?
Speaker 4 (16:26):
They never won a playoff game with Khalil Mack?
Speaker 2 (16:28):
Oh what so my comparison is who went that much further?
Speaker 4 (16:33):
I don't know if the Raiders went to a playoff
game versus the Bears at least getting to one with
Khalil Mack. I'm just saying how lopsided was it really
in retrospect? I'm wondering, you know, the Raiders as well
as a one?
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Yeah, I guess if you look at the end result
in saying that the Bears didn't win a championship with him,
then maybe it wasn't as lopsided.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Even a playoff game. They didn't win.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
No, no, and neither team did. I don't even know
that the Raiders eventually ended up making a playoff the
playoffs after John Gruden was like, go amid the you
know Washington email Roger Goodelle controversy. But that was a
couple of years removed for Mack even being traded at
that point in time.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
When they beat the Chargers in that game where nobody
wanted to win it at the very end.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
If I like, I'll say it this way, and who
knows how history ends up playing out. At that point
in time, you have Kalo mac on your on your staff,
on your team, you know how great of a player
he is. If you try to scout and develop and
bring in players around him and try to build and
keep him on the team, Who knows how things could
have been different, I guess, is my point.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
That's fair when you have potentially now.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
I think at the time people thought that Khalil Mack
was going to be an all time great. I don't
know if he's a Hall of Famer at this point.
Maybe he's borderline. I think he ended up having a
real He's had a really good career. I don't know
if he's had a Hall of Fame career, and maybe
Michael Parsons will, maybe he won't. But certainly the numbers
that he's put up so far, this young in his career,
he's on that track to be in the conversation as
one of the better pass rushers the sport has ever seen.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
He's trending that way.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Yeah, so you have somebody like that in house, how
do I find a way to build around that? Look,
the Rams didn't win with Aaron Donald for many years.
They kept resigning them. They kept them, and what they
ended up doing is they fortified with other veterans around them.
They brought in in Dominican SU's, they brought in Jalen Ramseys,
they brought in Leonard Floyd's, washed up quote unquote von
Miller veterans who maybe had a little bit left in
(18:15):
the tank, but they knew Aaron Donald was so great
that he'd be able to elevate their games and help
make them better. And even guys that you've drafted to
Bastian Joseph Dais and Jordan Fuller's and those guys were
instrumentally getting into one Super Bowl and having them win
another Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (18:27):
You have a guy like that.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
It's much harder to find a great player than it
is to find a group of good players in the draft.
If you know what you're doing.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Yeah, there's just a guy with the Browns though, that's
I think is maybe a generational defensive end. Yeah, their
defense is still bad. We'll see, Well, it's one game
they actually didn't play that poorly against Cincinnati. Max Crosby
hasn't turned the Raiders defense into a jug or not.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
I would argue that Mass Crosby is a very very
good defensive end. I don't know if he's generated talent.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
No, but you don't have to pay big money.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Yeah, I mean that's gonna happen the next you know,
big pro ball. This high quarterbacks. We talk about Deak
Prescott's contract. If you are a productive quarterback, knowing how
hard that position is to fill. Defensive end is kind
of in that same line. Guys are gonna get overpaid. Well,
he's probably shouldn't, but they do.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
I grade relative to how much you're being paid and
what your production and impact is. How good of a
move this could end up being or not being for
the Dallas Cowboys. We shall see right now. It obviously
looks bad. Things do need to play out, and I'm
definitely behind it, but or at least behind on the
wrong end of this right now.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
It's the quote from Jerry.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
Jones, who his team lost Game one, And this is
what frustrates me. And if I heard this from I'm
a Dallas if I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan, if I
heard this, I would be upset.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
He's answering a question about green Bay quote.
Speaker 4 (19:53):
The way they're playing, the way green Bay is playing,
I'm all form enjoying and chanting anything they want to play.
I understand that if you make a move on a
top player, this shouldn't surprise anybody that we would have
that kind of reaction from the other team's fan base,
or for that matter, our fan base in general.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Quote.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
I knew this day was coming almost the day I
walked into training camp. I knew that if I got
to make this trade, that this would be there in coming.
If you knew almost on the day of training camp
that Micah Parsons was likely going to be moved, and
all the messaging was we're going to figure it out,
blah blah blah, we're not trading him.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
You probably should have shipped.
Speaker 4 (20:36):
Him out right as free agency opened and got as
much as you could for him.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
That's my issue. He's full of it. We know that
it is full of it. It's a good story.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
It was an ego play by Jerry Jones. He wanted
to lean on this handshake quote unquote agreement, and when
Micah Parsons played hardball, he didn't want to play hardball back.
He says, this is my franchise. You're not gonna hold
me hostage. I will ship you out. This is my team.
At least that's the way that I view it.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Yeah, I think it's a fair way to view it.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Coming up next, we got to talk about a big
rival of the Dallas Cowboys that goes back decades. Has
the window closed on the San Francisco forty nine ers?
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Is it shut? Is it locked?
Speaker 4 (21:14):
We'll say you next here on FNA on FSR.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
So Kevin, when it comes.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
To predictions with me, I like being a year early
rather than a year late. And I think I may
have been early on something here, okay, because you know
from NorCal sack Town originally, which most people associate with
the forty nine ers, and thinking I must have grown
up a forty nine Ers.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Fan, and I did.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
The natural belief is that you either gravitate towards the
forty nine ers or other Raiders growing up in that area.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Yes, well they're wrong, Am I wrong?
Speaker 4 (23:15):
I mean I was, But then they were winning so
much it became annoying, and they were dominating the NFC least.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
I'm so sorry.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
I have never understood this line of thinking when this
happens with people like this team was winning so much.
I'm tired of rooting for a team that wins so
damn much.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
I want to earn it. Okay, I believe me. When
the Panthers eventually win the Super Bowl, I'm gonna feel
like I earned it with everything they put me through. Okay,
but the forty nine Ers, everyone's wearing Niners gear all
the time.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
I like to be counterculture with things zig when others zag.
So when the Panthers came in in ninety five and
beat the forty nine Ers in the first ever matchup
between them, I was like, that's my team plus their colors.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
Really cool? How's that working out for you? That great?
It's put me through a lot of pain, it's it
ain't stop.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
But eventually it's gonna make it that much more sweeter
when they win. There's no sweet without the sour. Kevin,
That's how it works, right.
Speaker 8 (24:09):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
I feel like the forty nine ers after those runs
in the mid nineties, one Steve Young went away.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
I know they were decent with Jeff Garcia and Mooch and.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
All that for a while, but it's not like they
had their dry run there for a long stretch too,
a little bit before the Shanahan era came in and
they start and they got to another couple of Super Bowls.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Here, And to be fair, the Niners have been through
some hell recently. They've lost three Super Bowls and they
have lost in epic fail fashion. They were close in
all three of them.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Yeah, I mean, there's still people who believe that whatever
was behind that power outage when they played Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (24:41):
Well, you know, I don't know what that was all about.
But Beyonce takes up too much power, That's all that exactly.
I mean, she was doing the halftime show there.
Speaker 5 (24:49):
Come on.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
I just remember the forty nine er fans were just
so obnoxious to saying like, we're we're undefeated in Super
Bowls and I was like, well, how's that street I'm
treating you now?
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Oh, for their last.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
Three and they have lost late and fourth quarters. It
was Crabtree with a fade route at the end of
that one that they couldn't get it to home on right.
Then it was Mahomes taking them down the last two,
the last one going into overtime.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
The previous one where Jimmy Garoppolo just slightly overthrew I
forget which receiver it was, and Haddy Calne down that
would have won it.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Yeah, and they were up by ten with ten minutes left,
and there was some major holding going on by the
Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
We don't have to talk about that.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
That was the COVID Super Bowl, if I remember correctly,
right before everything shut down.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
So the Niners be that close recently with Kyle Shanahan
as their head coach, yet coming up short with some
great teams. I'm starting to feel like and I felt
like this all of last year. I was telling my
cousins up in NorCal guys, I think there's a draft
in here. Shut the windows, like I think the window
(25:52):
is shut on the forty nine ers.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Now I know how you operate. Uh oh, Now do
you actually believe this or are you just trolling them? Okay,
it was a little bit of both.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
Both can be true.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Yeah, but I honestly I might have trolled myself into
believing this. I said it so much that I started
to believe it because once Rock Purdy got paid, you
know how this works. Once young quarterbacks get paid, you
can't pay his weapons. You can't pay a lot of
the other guys out there.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
You gotta cut somewhere. Yeah, And so.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
What it has to be is for that sustained success
is that quarterback now elevates guys that would be lesser
next to a worse quarterback, but he makes them better.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Mahomes can do that.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
Yeah, he has proven that there are a select few
guys that are transcendent that can bring everyone along with them.
But I don't know if Rock Purdy is that he
could be, but I don't know right now. And this
forty nine ers team, it's not just that they've lost guys.
The guys that they still have are getting a little
(26:52):
along in the tooth.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
Now.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Yeah, that's the issue, if all things were equal.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
Look, we said this going into the season before Week one,
like San Francisco favored by a lot of people to
still win the NFC West, even though a lot of
those same pundit's thought that the Rams were actually a
better team than the forty nine ers. San Francisco just
has one of the easiest schedules in the entire league.
The problem with San Francisco is they're top heavy. So
if they lose important guys like Brandon Ayuk, who's not
(27:17):
gonna play before week six or week seven or whatever
it is, Juwan Jennings, who on top of his contract situation,
is banged up. Christian McCaffrey who was banged up going
into last weekend's Week one game, we didn't know if
he was gonna play. Yeah, Now George Kettle's out for
at least four weeks. Rock parties out for two to
five weeks. So you lose one or two of those guys,
you're like, man, it's gonna be really tough sledding because
they just don't have the depth because they just not
(27:39):
have drafted well the last few years. They've really whipped
the last three years on a lot of their draft picks,
and that ends up catching up with you as you
age out. One thing the Rams have done and people
have praised them for over this run under Sean McVay,
is they've been able to aid certain guys out, move
those guys out, draft new guys in, and be able
to keep that momentum rolling and that's something San Francisco
(28:00):
has just not has not been able to do.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
The other issue with them has been a coach that
is a great coach, that is a genius and mad scientist,
but the game gets a little sped up late. And
we've talked about this. This goes back to his days
in Atlanta as a coordinator.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
Yeah, and obviously the first Super Bowl is not on him.
That was Jim Harbaugh. And I don't think there was
major coaching malfunctions going on, But Kyle Shanahan, he gets
a little bit tight late in games.
Speaker 9 (28:32):
The kids are playing their tailor, the coaches are.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Screwing it up, and when you're in those small margins
in a Super Bowl, they tend to come down to
calling the right play, believing in your guys, not being overly.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
I don't want to say soft out there. Conservative man, Yeah, conservative,
very conservative. So we brought up John Harbaugh earlier.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
Most blown double digit leads in fourth quarters over the
last ten seasons. Playoffs included John Harbaugh in the news
for the wrong reasons.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Seven. I didn't know that'stat, but I could have believed it.
That makes sense to me.
Speaker 4 (29:13):
Kyle Shanahan six. How about most double digit leads blown
since twenty twenty. Okay, leading by ten plus points at
any time, not just in the fourth quarter. The Chargers,
you could have guessed that to Yeah, that's eleven.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
Par for the course, the Ravens twelve, looking back for you, Baltimore,
the forty nine.
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Ers thirteen and since twenty twenty, that's all Kyle Shanahan.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Correct one hundred percent on his ledger.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
Well, I'll say this, I do think Kyle Shannan's a
great coach who has his share of shortcomings.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
I'd say the same thing about Andy Reid.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
I've been critical of Andy Reid's clock management in his
tenure going back to Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
Now it hasn't mattered in many senses.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
He still has had great success at wherever he's been,
and obviously has won multiple Super Bowls in Kansas City,
so it hasn't hurt him too much. But if you're
Kyle and you haven't won yet and I don't think
he's on the hot seat, I think that's ridiculous. Even
if they do have a bad year this year, especially
if this run of injuries continues to all of these
important players.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Easily explainable for a bad season if these guys remain out,
you just.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Kind of chalk it up to it to a bit
of a mulligin.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
But ultimately between him and John Lynch, and it's mostly
on him because he hired John Lynch, is gonna be
incumbent on them to rebuild this roster and make them
into a contender again with Brock Purdy as the guy
shepherding them into the future. Because to your point, they
just signed him to this massive extension. He's not going anywhere.
I do think he's better than a lot of people
give him credit for. I don't think he's a caretaker. Sure,
he's a system quarterback. I think most quarterbacks are system quarterbacks.
(30:43):
You can count on a few fingers guys who can
transcend systems. He's perfect for the system that they run.
But whether or not he can actually put a team
on his back and take a bunch of Alsarman no
name guys and carry them, I don't know if he's
that good.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
That's the issue with him being out during this time
where other guys are out. It would have been interesting
to see how he performs in this setting. Can he elevate,
can he raise the level play with guys around him,
can he find a way to show us something different
that we haven't seen. It's not like he hasn't have
really good games. It's not like he hasn't made big
throws great He's looked very clutch at times. He looks
(31:19):
like a guy to me that you can win a
Super Bowl with. Obviously, because they almost won it. They
lost in overtime and Kyle Shanahan had like his decision
there with the kickoff are Ei there? My god, he
couldn't close a blockbuster like he couldn't close a Border's books.
Kyle Shanahan is so bad sometimes laden games. He has
brain falls.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
I will say there was a play late in that game,
in that overtime period, or may have been before the
overtime period, where San Francisco had the ball and brock
Party made a bad read and there was an open receiver,
all these things getting it picked obviously on the biggest
stage at the Super Bowl. But I don't know if
he was feeling pressure on the backside. It looked like
a pretty good play design in brock Party, albeit a
young quarterback without a lot of experience, just made the
(31:57):
wrong read at the most critical time of the game.
So that's something that if that's executed, Kyle Shanhan's a genius.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
They win the Super Bowl in all as well. But
all of.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
This is besides the point of is their window shut?
We can talk about, Oh, they could win the division.
We can talk about I think Brock Perdy could end
up being a top ten quarterback in the next couple
of seasons.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
He could prove that he might be there now. To
be honest with you, I think I mean.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
That tier list that we talked about a few weeks back,
I think it had him around fifteen or sixteen, and
I felt like he could have been ahead of Dak
in my mind only because he's less of a finished product,
and I think he's pretty similar to Dak in some ways,
and I might put him in front, or at least
if I was starting a franchise, I'd rather have Brock
Purdy because there's more unknowns with him, and in this case,
(32:44):
the devil you know isn't better than the devil you don't,
because I feel like Dak Prescott he's just not going
to be that guy. However, this all comes down to,
is this forty nine ers ero with Kyle Shanahan. Let's
say an era or window is within the next three
four years, because we got to put some specificity out there.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Sure what we're talking about.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
I do think it's probably shut in terms of winning
a Super Bowl. Now that's the highest bar, too clear.
But you only get so many opportunities, and they had
three good ones and they couldn't get it done. And
now they have lesser teams than they had back then.
In my opinion, unless Rock turns out to be a
(33:26):
top five quarterback within the near future.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
I don't know how their salary situation ends up playing out.
I know they gave him a big contract. I know
they ended up giving Christian McCaffrey, who I think maybe
up in a couple of years now. At this point
in time, and the way these salaries are all structured,
there's a lot of outs. The point is, if they
are able to draft better restructure some contracts, they can
make themselves competitive for the next couple of years. Well,
(33:49):
they have as high of a potential ceiling as they've
had these last five or six. Probably not so to
your point, maybe they find themselves being in a playoff
contentus situation, but not necessarily a Championship Contenson situation, that window,
that particular window might have closed on them.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
Unfortunately, I'm sorry, nor unfortunately for San Francisco forty nine
er fans at least. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
Hey, you know what, the Giants beat the Dodgers with
a walk off Grand Slam tonight.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Celebrate that.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
If you're hurt over this conversation.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
I'm sure that'll do a lot for you. Oh, coming
up next, Oh, we have stranger than fiction? What's a
stranger in fiction?
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Adam?
Speaker 4 (34:19):
You know, animals are multiplying without doing uh the nasty.
There's some weird stuff going on, some fluky stuff, some
Jurassic Park like stuff.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
You could say, we got to talk about it. Next.
This is FNA on FSR. FNA Cottonna. It is FNA
on FSR. Kevin Figures.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Adam Alsen with you guys on Fox Football Saturday, broadcasting
live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Coming up in
about fifteen minutes or so, it'll be the NFL six
Pack Week two preview coming up.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
Looking forward to that. But right now, let's get to
its food customer defending precision called Night one after her
McDonald's run out of McNuggets.
Speaker 9 (35:03):
Strange, he can't give a drunk man riding a horse
at ewy and he got.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Unlike cars, words don't have motors. They have a mind
of their own. Strange twenty four year old man now
Jusep throwing an alligator through a drive through window.
Speaker 10 (35:19):
To high Strange Dan Fish, Oh, Kevin, we're all familiar
with the phrase life finds away uttered by Ian Malcolm
in Jurassic Park.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
Jeff Goldblum, I was gonna say it was that Jeff Goblan's character.
I'm sure it wasn't. Samuel Jackson. He died in the
first fifteen minutes.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
He didn't make it, no, but I mean his sacrifice
will not be forgotten.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Ever.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
I just want to make sure he cursed out that
dinosaur before they hate him doing.
Speaker 5 (35:51):
Oh, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
I'll guarantee that happens as he was getting carved up
by that veloci after. I'm sure. I'm sure you let
him hear it.
Speaker 5 (35:58):
Now.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
It's not just West African read frogs changing sexes during
their tadpole stage that is shocking. Scientists who were so
preoccupied preoccupied with whether or not they could they didn't
stop to think if they should, at least when it
came to completing dino DNA chains during that explanation for
Jurassic Park. And you know how the movie came about
(36:21):
off the Michael Crichton book.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Which was like nine thousand pages.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
Long, and believe it or not, the book finds a
way to be better than the movie. But even great movies,
they're at a disadvantage. Adaptations are really hard, and like
the strands and missing DNA, there's always going to be
scenes in a long form novel missing in a movie.
But Steven Spielberg did about as good of a job as.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
I was going to ask you what was missing a lot?
Speaker 4 (36:45):
Okay, about ten hours. I want a Jurassic Park mini series.
But I love that book. But in speaking to reptiles
doing remarkable things, not Spielberg.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
He looks pretty good for seventy eight.
Speaker 4 (36:58):
He's not a dinosaur yet, though his best films are
buried pretty deep right now in his catalog, because I
don't think he's done a good one since Munich that
was like two thousand and five. So while he's barren
with producing good content, a female casca headed iguana that
didn't even have a partner was able to produce Baby
(37:19):
Iggy's is what I'm calling baby iguanas here. Iggy's not
Iggy Pop, not Andrea Gudala, Iggy's. Those are baby iguanas.
And these cascae iguanas that look smaller and they're kind
of like halfway between an iguana and a gecko with their.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Look like the Geico geko.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
Are they an actual hybrid of a gecko and a
They're just they're just small. But I mean, we're talking
to Durassic Park and hybridizing things and using DNA, and.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
Yeah, I mean it's a fair point. It needs to
be asked. And so does this How did this immaculate
conception with these iguana babies without you know, having the
female iguana and her sleeve of lizard occupied by a
male iguana happened?
Speaker 3 (38:04):
I mean, are we sure that a male iguana didn't
slide up in there? Fox in the head house in
the middle of the night, nobody knew a little knock
on the knock on the window.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
Apparently some rocks on the window. She opened it up
and he came on in.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
They had security cameras, Okay, they were ready for it.
But yeah, she didn't have a mate.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
So even though there was no mate.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
Uh, this female iguana ended up with eight baby iguanas.
Cores a lot, according to a staff at an iguana
zoo in the United Kingdom, and normally I would say
an entire zoo dedicated to iguanas is kind of overkilled,
But after a virgin octomom birth, they do seem pretty
interesting now. So the eight iggy hatchlings happened in a
(38:47):
very rare occurrence called parthenogenesis, which allows unfertilized eggs to
grow into embryos that become genetic clones of the mother.
My question is do all the genetic clones also had
the ability for parthogenesis? But anyways, the occurrence is of
course said to be one of the rarest events in
(39:07):
the animal kingdom, according to the zoo keeper, Scott Adams,
who said, quote, when we confirmed the eggs were fertile
without any contact from a male, our jaws dropped to
the floor. These babies are essentially many mum clones and
seeing them thrives incredible for us. It's a powerful reminder
that life finds a way in the most unexpected circumstances.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
It sounds like a line from Jurassic Park. It is
it finds a way. It is parthogenesis.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
By the way, I guess it happens with a handful
of reptiles and also something called an epilette shark. It
gave birth to a pup once and didn't have sex first,
so kind of crazy.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
We had virgin birth in many of these animals. Then
it happens once in a while. Well, I guess there's
no confirmation that's the weather or not there are virsions.
I guess I'm supposed to take their word for it.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
That's the fair point, too. Are just saying look at
me like that prey. Imagine though a Maury episode doing
the paternity test revealing this iguana and uh, who the
father could be? It's like, you're not the father, and
neither is anyone else. Oh, I told y'all that's right.
(40:19):
I told you him one my kids, they ain't got
my nose. You see her little nose. That nose ain't mine.
I told you what my kids.
Speaker 4 (40:25):
Yeah, pretty much all the male iguanas are clear. This
was a virgin birth buy an iguana in the United Kingdom.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Pretty miraculous stuff. Yeah, he finds a way.
Speaker 5 (40:34):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (40:35):
Well, you know what else finds a way?
Speaker 3 (40:36):
The NFL six pack Adam Alston Kevin Figures here on
Fox Football Saturday. The NFL six Pack Week two edition
coming up next on FSR.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 4 (40:48):
Fn A on FSR is back in effect. Second hour
here for you. Coming up, we got Petros Papadaka is
joining us Fox Sports Expert. You could say, you know
he played. Some give non player opinions. Some can say
they were there, they saw things through a face mask.
Petros Papadaka is one of them.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
According to some, non player opinions don't matter. So I mean,
why are we even here?
Speaker 2 (41:13):
You know, I didn't like that. No, No, that was
a little bit too far. Ryan Clark, Yeah, I think
there are there are time not speaking necessarily about him,
but there are a lot of people who did not play.
I wasn't It was insights I respect more than people
who did. I'll put it. I'll leave it at that.
Speaker 4 (41:31):
Yeah, it turns out some guys that played have some
of the worst.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
Opinions of all time.
Speaker 4 (41:36):
Like, I don't know, there's a guy for formerly of TNT,
Shaquille O'Neal, Like, where's where's the uh, the special knowledge
he's supposed to have because he played the game, say
the same about Chuck Kenny's doing Okay, okay, yeah, say
the same about Kendrick Perkins, Like, come on, what are
(41:57):
we talking about?
Speaker 2 (41:58):
I think playing the game.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
We said this when we talked about the Denzel Washington
thing a few weeks back. Playing the game, knowing the game,
talking the game are three different things, absolutely, and we're
talking the game.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
And Petros did all of them, and all of them
very well, very high level.
Speaker 5 (42:15):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
So Petro's gonna.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
Join us here in about twenty minutes or so to
talk about this weekend's action around college football. But here
we want to go around the NFL and do one
of our favorite segments here.
Speaker 1 (42:26):
On time for the NFL six Pack.
Speaker 2 (42:33):
Wasn't really get used to that? Is that the bird
from the sandlot. Now I feel better, pretty good.
Speaker 3 (42:38):
Six topics around six different not necessarily teams could be, coaches,
could be players, but six different categories that we bring
you every single solitary week in the midnight hour on
the West coast three am on the East coast here
on f and A on FSR. So we're gonna start
this week with the hot seat heat check the coach
or player under the most pressure this weekend a what
(43:00):
do you got?
Speaker 2 (43:02):
You know who I got?
Speaker 4 (43:03):
I am increasing the heat on Bryce Young from being
as hot as a young Adam thought that incident between
the Panthers cheerleaders in the bathroom was in two thousand
and five to Bryce feeling like he's in the center
of the sun while taping an episode of Hot Ones.
That's how hot his seat should be. If Bryce Young
(43:25):
can't read a hot route, then he needs to at
least find the route to the hot seat. I warned
myself a few weeks back that all those positives we
saw after he returned from being benched for Andy Dalton
last year was after the Panthers were removed from the
playoff picture and he was playing with lowered expectations with
(43:47):
much less pressure. And apparently the pressure of going up
against their expansion cousins and the Jaguars from last week
was too much for him. His QB rating was even
lower than it was his rookie year ago.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
As the Jaguars. Oh that's hard to do a couple
of years ago. Yeah, he went from a QB rating
his rookie year against the Jags a fifty three point
one to forty nine on the dot in week one
this season, I have seen no progress progress from Bryce Young,
and now he heads to Arizona this week, appropriately as
it can get pretty hot there, Kevin, and if he
(44:21):
throws a few more picks, he might just spontaneously combust
out in that Arizona.
Speaker 3 (44:25):
Hopefully not whish harm to him, any more harm than
he's already been under playing behind the offensive line.
Speaker 4 (44:31):
He better play with a sense of urgency like his
hair is on fire, because it might be, and he.
Speaker 3 (44:38):
Might be replaced by a fiery redhead named Andy Dalton
next week if it doesn't.
Speaker 4 (44:41):
Exactly look out for the hot seat flames around Bryce Young.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
I'm rooting for him.
Speaker 3 (44:47):
I mean, all right, so we know what Andy Dalton
can or can't do. I guess he raises your ceiling
a little bit and helps you win more games. I mean,
are you so you're totally out on Bryce Young completely?
It sounds like you've seen enough you don't want to
give anymore.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
If he sucks it up this week, you're willing to
put him on the bench and be done with the
Bryce Young experience. But you're not even gonna give him
even like four or five games here.
Speaker 4 (45:09):
No, I'll want him, make him wear it as a punishment.
He has to keep playing. That's what I want him
to do, because they don't have better option. Throwing Andy
Dalton out there. It doesn't mean anything. It's not gonna
save your season.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
Yeah, if it did, you're not going anywhere anyway. Had
I'm so, I mean, let's go out there and just
not for just being honest. Yeah, So let the kid
go out there and he have some more growing pains
and see what he can do. Who do you got
in the hot seat?
Speaker 3 (45:31):
I got John Morton, Not the old USC receiver Johnny Morton,
but John Morton, the new offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions.
We hear all the time about continuity and how important
it is for football teams.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
Now, he was not on the Lions staff last year.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
He was a passing game coordinator for the Denver Broncos
the last two seasons. He was an offensive assistant three
years ago in Detroit. Now he returns to the to
the team after Ben Johnson takes the head coaching job
of Chicago. So it's not as if he has no
expers whatsoever in the organization. But three years might as
well be a lifetime to be gone. So now you
come in after a team had been humming the last
(46:07):
couple of years. Offensively, I think they are number one
in offense last year in the entire NFL and scoring points,
And obviously things did not get off to a great
start in green Bay last week.
Speaker 2 (46:17):
They already have a lot working against them.
Speaker 3 (46:18):
We mentioned this briefly in the first segment of the
show when we were talking about green Bay losing two
starters on the offensive line. You lose both coordinators, just
your team as a whole, there's a lot of things
going on, a lot of transition.
Speaker 2 (46:31):
They can't afford to start zero to two.
Speaker 3 (46:33):
The numbers I think on oh and two teams who
make the postseason, I think it happens like twelve percent
of the time or something like that. The chances of
it happening are minuscule, and they have a tough schedule.
They have the Bengals staring them down next Monday, after
this weekend's game, Then after the Browns they have the Chiefs, Bucks,
Vikings Commanders, and Eagles Murderers, Row Murderers Row. Now, granted
(46:54):
there is a bye week a wedged in between. I
believe the buccaneer in the Viking game.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
Can't lose that.
Speaker 3 (46:58):
But the way things are looking, and again it's just
one game, it's not inconceivable they could be a sub
five hundred team by mid season. And that's gonna be
tough sledding playing in that division and playing in a
tough NFC conference where even getting a wild car position
could be hard if you think you might get a
run out of the run out of the division. So
if strides are going to be made by this team
and specifically this offense, and needs to start tomorrow. So look,
(47:22):
if JJ McCarthy can have that magical run against the
Bears defense in the fourth quarter on Monday night, then
this veteran offense, even with the new offensive coordinator, better
get that production in. And look, Dan Campbell said it himself.
He basically said it this week. This is a must
win game. He knows the importance of not starting OH
one to two. And the problem for I guess both
of these NFC North teams, somebody, either the Bears of
(47:43):
the Lions, is going to be OH win two at
the end of this weekend.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
There is a possibility of a tie. You know what
I guess that I think is less than twelve percent, though,
like you brought up earlier, if you start oh to two.
Speaker 3 (47:53):
But that the seat cannot be hotter for one. John Morton,
the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
I think that's a smart pick. Check out the big
so from the hot seat heat check. We had to
trap game tap all right?
Speaker 4 (48:07):
Last week I said the Bucks Falcons game had trap
game tap potential. It did, but the Bucks pulled it
out late after it looked like the Michael Pennix extender
touchdown was going to win it for the Falcons.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
This week, you're I don't think anything this week. I'm
looking at the Bills, though, who obviously got one of
the best victories of the season in Week one.
Speaker 3 (48:35):
Like I'm listening to the Tony Bruno Show from fifteen
years ago.
Speaker 4 (48:38):
Down fifteen run with four minutes left against the Ravens,
as John Harbaugh would rather let Josh Allen get a
chance to decide the game rather than his quarterback. I'm
glad you have faith in your defense, John. They also
had already given up thirty eight points while your offense
got you forty. So maybe don't give the Bills an
opportunity to get the ball back because we all knew
(48:58):
what was going to happen next. Teams with forty plus
points and two hundred and thirty five plus rushing yards
in a game were two hundred and seventy seven in
oh in NFL history. Now they're two hundred and seventy
seven and one after the Ravens blew it. They've now
lost eight games since twenty twenty one in which they
led at one point. That seems not good enough. Oh
(49:19):
and had a win probability of ninety percent at one point,
and they've lost eight games since twenty twenty one. The
Ravens had over a ninety nine percent chance to win
this ballgame didn't matter. They have the most blown double
digit leaves in the fourth quarter over the last ten years.
As we mentioned earlier, John Harbaugh, he did win a ring.
Speaker 3 (49:40):
But yes, but I was getting ready to ask you.
Has he gotten to Brian Billick's status.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
Yes, it's like you won a championship, and you're right,
the cotails of that for only so long. I mean
is we're a long ways removed from you winning that
Super Bowl however many years ago, against your brother Jim.
Speaker 4 (49:54):
These coaches are not infallible, and by the way, Joe
Flacco went on an all time heater during them winning
that ring. But my trap game tap has me tapping
into some numbers that involve this since twenty twenty two,
when Josh Allen has gone to New Jersey to face
the Jets, He's one and two and he has a
(50:15):
quarterback rating of seventy nine point one with three touchdowns
to five picks.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
So I am saying this is a trap game for
the Bills in New Jersey. In New Jersey, take.
Speaker 4 (50:26):
It on the Jets, and I kind of like what
we saw from Justin Fields week one, who nobody was
talking about coming.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
Into this season.
Speaker 4 (50:33):
Buffalo is coming off that emotional comeback win at home.
I think the Jets are gonna give this a trap
game tap at least potential okay for them to beat Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
I could see that that would not surprise me in
the least pit my trap game really quickly. Here is
the Rams going on the road against Tennessee. They faced
the Eagles next weekend in Philadelphia. Tennessee showed themselves well
against Denver this past week. Cam Ward, I know the
numbers weren't pretty, but he had some really good throws.
He had a couple of drops that ended up hurting him.
Speaker 2 (51:02):
And look, it's always an uphill climb when west coast
west coast teams travel east, so they have that working
against them and stacked down on top of the fact
that Tennessee's defense looked a lot better than I think
a lot of people thought they might. I granted it was.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
Week one, teams still have to flush things out a
little bit, but I think that the Tennessee Titans might
actually be able to give the Rams a little bit
of run for the money in this game. I don't
know if they necessarily win, but I do think this
is a situation where the Rams know they have a
better roster than the Titans, and they could be looking
ahead to Philadelphia, a team where they had on the
ropes at home in the snow in the divisional playoffs
(51:35):
last season. So for my trap game, tap, I got
the Rams taking all the Titans in Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (51:39):
I like this.
Speaker 4 (51:40):
More on that game coming up later, but coming up
next here on F and A on FSR, it is

Angeles on a five to seventy LA Sports. He's on

(52:02):
throws me off zero either way.

Speaker 2 (53:09):
Join the show right now.
Speaker 4 (53:10):
As someone who never wanted an a p vote or
a Heisman vote or even a vote for Pedro, but
the Fox Sports Radio listeners, they voted for Petros to
rejoin us here on FNA on FSR so we could
get the players perspective. And he's been our college football
expert going back a DM decade. He's always done it
for free, regardless of his busy schedule, like being on
(53:30):
the call later today for Utah State hosting Air Force.
It's Fox Sports Analyst Petros Papadakis back on FNA on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (53:39):
Pee, how we doing, Hey, what's cragging? Guys?
Speaker 9 (53:42):
Congratulations on the show and greetings from Logan, Utah for
the big FS one matchup tomorrow night six forty five
LA time, N Eastern. Yeah, we got Utah State hosting
Air Force in Merlin Olson Field at Mavericks Stadium here
(54:03):
in Logan, Utah. So looking forward to that. Going to
call the game with Trent Rush. So check it out, everybody.
I've never been to Logan before, but here I am.
Speaker 4 (54:10):
What should we know about these two teams going into
this one this season?
Speaker 5 (54:13):
P Well, some interesting things.
Speaker 9 (54:16):
Air Force, you know, is always air Force is amazing
and I know they kind of slipped by some people
on the radar, but you look at what Troy Calhoun,
who's in its nineteenth season there, has done, and it's
like eight wins, nine wins, eleven wins, seven wins, eight wins,
nine wins. I mean, every once in a while they
have a young team and they get a little better
(54:36):
as the season goes on, like last year. But what
he does with no nil, no transfer portal, no any
freshmen can't play. There's a freshman team. I mean it is,
and these guys have to serve in the military. What
they're able to do playing against real college football teams
(54:57):
in the FBS is it's mind blowing. And it's because
nobody wants some guy from Maryland who's five foot eight,
two hundred and ten pounds with the crown of his
helmet flying right at your crotch for four hours. That's
what they do, and it's amazing and Bronco. Menden Hall's
in nineteenth year as a head coach, and if you
(55:19):
look at him, he's had success everywhere BYU Virginia, even
had some in New Mexico last year, and he's back
in the state of Utah as he's a big LDS guy,
So it'll be an interesting matchup. I'm really looking forward
to it. Two grizzled Vets to no nonsense coaches, not
a lot of bs, so that should be fun.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
But there's a lot going on tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (55:41):
Yeah, there is a lot, and I wanted to before
we get into games, specifically because I know there's this
legal lawsuit going on between the PEG twelve and the Mountain.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
West League of lawsuit for sure, you know, exactly being
redundant obviously. Well, but as far as someone who's championed
West Coast football for the entirety of your career, do
you think that it makes the most sense for them
to just merge at this point in time, go underneath
the PAG twelve umbrella or do you think there's value
in having two West Coast conferences that are both going
to be a group of six.
Speaker 9 (56:07):
Well, I think there's value in it in the fact
that you have different TV networks that'll do different deals
to fill different time slots late at night. So I mean,
if it's one big conference and they're going to have
to have more deals because the TV networks want to
be able to fill the spots at night. You can't
(56:28):
kick at six forty five Pacific time from the East
coast or with one of your ACC teams if you're
the ESPN or something like that. And I'm not exactly
sure these two are suing each other right Utah State's
gone and Arizona States staying. So these are two teams
tomorrow that are suing each other. Sometimes it's refreshing to
(56:51):
have it when they're not suing each other. But yeah,
there's a lot there. But I think just like everybody.
I mean, I thought Jonathan Smith at Oregon State said
it best right before he left town in the middle
of the night from Michigan State. Every year in college
football now at the end of the year, everybody stops
(57:12):
and reevaluates the players, the coaches for the conferences, you
know it really. I mean football has always been a
live in the moment type of sport, but I think
that you see more and more of that as as
We've had all this seismic change and all that, But yeah,
I wish the situation on the West Coast was more stable,
(57:32):
just like everybody else. I missed the old PAC twelve
and the old Pac ten, but we still have meaningful
football being played and we're here to call it.
Speaker 2 (57:40):
Patris Vegas is our guest here.
Speaker 5 (57:42):
On the Diplomatic. Was that right?
Speaker 6 (57:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (57:45):
Extremely could be a lawyer therapy.
Speaker 9 (57:48):
I mean, I did have a conversation with the Mountain
West Commissioner in Vegas over the summer. I don't think
she knew who I was, or if it even matters
who I am, but she was laying on her you.
Speaker 5 (57:57):
Know, She's like, you know, we're just thinking about right now.
Speaker 9 (58:00):
I was like, but it's kind of your job to
look anyway. Whatever, enjoy it, Enjoy the moment.
Speaker 4 (58:06):
Petrick's Papadakis our guests here on F and A on FSR.
He's stradling the fence that Tom Sawyer would pain and
his sister, Okay, not his sister, but Hailey Sawyer.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
I alluded to.
Speaker 5 (58:18):
My sister Sawyer sister, right, Oh got.
Speaker 2 (58:22):
It, Hailey Sawyer. I alluded to the.
Speaker 9 (58:25):
Beat writer for the La the La Daily News the
AP voter who was flippant about her vote.
Speaker 5 (58:32):
She's a good writer. I like her stuff.
Speaker 9 (58:35):
I don't like her Instagram drawing a little too much
attention to herself as a beat writer. Okay, around she's
like doing ballet on the US practice field, interfaced with
USC guys hitting sleds and stuff.
Speaker 2 (58:49):
Well, to me, she's deleted her Twitter account.
Speaker 5 (58:52):
I don't know how you cover the team without a
Twitter account.
Speaker 4 (58:54):
Yeah, she took a lot of incoming this week from
moving Florida up after losing a game two spots to fourteen, Like,
how should she have apologize for this or just made amens.
Speaker 9 (59:04):
Say I screwed up? Yeah, you know, I got up
early in the morning and I messed up. I didn't
see that Florida lost. I'm sorry, Or how about just
don't answer it at all? Don't answer it. You know,
there's South Florida people, there's Southern people that are combing
the desert looking for somebody to say something stupid so
they can get something on the Instagram or Twitter and
(59:26):
have it go viral. And that's exactly what happened here.
I don't know why it's so difficult for everybody to
say I'm sorry, I was wrong. I did this wrong. Yes,
there's voters, and it'll even itself out. I know it
matters this was wrong or just say nothing, because there's
a lot of AP voters that do this egregiously every
(59:47):
single Sunday morning, and some people, like the real believers
like Danny Knell and stuff, will call them out. But
unless you go on like some weird fan podcast for
USC basketball with your local fry and try to be
flipping about it and act like nobody cares. That's why
the backlash, not because she had an idiot vote.
Speaker 5 (01:00:07):
I mean, who cares. Just say you were wrong or
say nothing at all.
Speaker 9 (01:00:11):
It was poorly handled, and I hope that the negative
backlash kind of scares her straight to taking a little
bit more seriously, and I hope she brings her I mean,
I know people say mean things when stuff goes viral,
but you know, those of us in the sports media,
we do deal with that. It's you know, you make
a mistake. Everybody sees it and hears it. It's okay
(01:00:33):
to say you made a mistake, and people are much
what are people are going to say after you say
I made a mistake. They go on to the next
person to skew her in the balls. So I feel
like she handled this poorly, but she's a lovely lady
and my apologies to her.
Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
Beechos Papaek is joining us here on FNA on Fox
Sports Radio Fox Football Saturday. Since Florida did come up,
and I hate when people do this and talk about
hot seat stuff in week two of the season, but
Billy Napier's name has come up Florida. Kaylin de Borr
his name has come up in Alabama because they haven't
gotten off to great starts. I guess of those two,
who do you think is more in trouble if this
(01:01:08):
season goes south both?
Speaker 5 (01:01:10):
I mean it's the SEC.
Speaker 9 (01:01:11):
You know, if you're in the SEC and you lose early,
then the momentum gets going against you and it's kind
of hard to fight back against that tide. No pun intended,
but I think Wisconsin's really struggling. They're going to go
to Alabama and get beat pretty badly tomorrow and that
will bolster to bor I don't know who Florida plays.
Speaker 5 (01:01:37):
Yeah, and LSU, Yeah, that's a big one.
Speaker 9 (01:01:39):
LSU is pretty good this year, so I mean I
think that it's probably Napes, you know, but I like
dbor a lot, right. I got to know him when
he was at Fresno a couple of years ago, and
when he had Jay Hayner the quarterback, thought he was
doing great things. Told everybody in Seattle, you guys are
(01:02:01):
getting a great coach. That made me look like a
genius because he brought Washington football to a level they
haven't been in a while. And I don't know if anybody,
anybody is going to be able to take over for
Nick Saban and do the same kind of job. It's
just you're going to have a different vibe. You're not
(01:02:21):
going to have the totalitarianism, You're not going to have
the immediate buy in, the fear of the head coach,
the feathered hair, you know, all of those things that
go along with it.
Speaker 5 (01:02:32):
That's a really tough hill to climb.
Speaker 9 (01:02:33):
Now, he's paid well to climate and he's going to try,
and if he doesn't, he's going to get paid off
not to and he will be a consultant for somebody,
will he gets paid millions of dollars and then he'll
re emerge five or six years later. And he knew
what he was doing when he took this job. Maybe
it's a damn near impossible task, but you know, it's
a week to week thing. A lot of the Alabama
(01:02:56):
stuff quieted down when they put up seventy on Monroe
and their quarterback and miss a pass in the game
seventeen for seventeen. That kind of stuff. I think we
do overreact week to week. But you lose to South
Florida early, and Florida has been down for a little
bit of a while. That's probably a worse situation.
Speaker 4 (01:03:15):
Is it an overreaction to say arch Manning looks much
worse than anybody thought?
Speaker 9 (01:03:20):
Well, the thing that I don't know about arch Manning
is like, you know, he's had three springs under his belt,
you know, a couple of camps, and he's been there
a while now, and he looks a little bit like
the guy we saw in that very first spring game
that was outplayed by everybody, and everybody's like, where's the
arm strength? That's white. He played in the garden district
(01:03:42):
in New Orleans. He didn't have any real competition. I mean,
he looks kind of more like that guy right now,
not saying that that's all he is, but he looks
a little bit more like that guy than the guy
we talked about all offseason that's gonna take college football
by storm and be the next Tim Tebow.
Speaker 5 (01:04:00):
So it's a surprise.
Speaker 9 (01:04:02):
And then the whole shoulder injury thing, which the very
first I heard of that was from Brady Quinn a
couple of weeks ago, and then Sart got all butt
heard about it literally in a press conference, said something
untoward to one of the beat writers who was asking
a serious, very poignant question, an appropriate question.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
It's on the score to ask someone if they want
to be filmed while they're using the bathroom.
Speaker 5 (01:04:24):
For I thought it was untoorn.
Speaker 9 (01:04:25):
I thought it had anything to do with what the
subject was, Like, is that beat writer supposed to show
up with a picture of him blowing it out and
be like, now, tell me, is his shoulders his shouldered bad?
Speaker 5 (01:04:35):
Like what's going on?
Speaker 9 (01:04:37):
And you know, I mean, I don't know if Arch
always threw it like I'm no quarterback guru. I don't
know if Arch always had like a weird Uncle Rico
throwing motion, but it looks more like that right now.
And it's a little bit of an issue, I would
say for everybody involved in Texas football and Yeah, I
don't know. I I do see that that was a
(01:05:00):
and Sarkisian, you know, and the going to the bathroom thing,
and you know a lot of people were like, well,
what do you expect Ohio States got the best defense
in the history of the world. Well, that's probably an
overreaction in September, right, Plus, we didn't spend the whole
damn off season talking about Ohio States defense. We spent
the whole offseason talking about Arch Manning, Bill Belichick and
(01:05:22):
Nico Iamalaiaba, and they all laid an egg early in
the season. So we'll see. I mean, Arch look fine
against Monroe or whatever. Who know, they've played somebody on that.
But you know, those were short passes where the receivers
got loose.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
I know, I thought he'd like a slow start at that.
By the way.
Speaker 5 (01:05:40):
Yeah, so I don't know. I mean, I I don't know.
Speaker 9 (01:05:43):
I think that a lot of us bought We all
saw him play when he was younger, in that spring
game and stuff. We all know that he didn't start
right away. He's been there a while, collecting experience and
all that. So I think it's very fair to say, hey,
what is this that you guys made us talk about
this whole time. This kid is not a world beater.
John Matteer, Guys like that, the guy in South Carolina.
(01:06:05):
A lot of people look better right now than arch Manning.
Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
You brought up a John Metteer, and there's one writer,
and I forget exactly who it was who said that
he thought Oklahoma was a sleeper in the SEC, not
to necessarily win the conference, but to make some noise
as far as the playoffs go. I don't know how
big of a win it was against Michigan. Last year
they met a huge average. Okay, well, they seem to
be just as average of a Big Ten team as
they were last season. But it is early on.
Speaker 3 (01:06:29):
But I guess for Oklahoma as a program, was that
a big win this year?
Speaker 5 (01:06:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
You think they can make some hay in the SEC
this season.
Speaker 9 (01:06:35):
You get a blue blood like Michigan from a different
conference to come into your stadium and you win.
Speaker 5 (01:06:39):
That's a big deal.
Speaker 9 (01:06:41):
Oklahoma under Venables, I think he's got the ship righted.
They went and got the new coordinator, they went and
got Matier. They have Jade not sitting there getting healthy again.
I guess the transfer from Cow they're paying him a
lot of money, and they had some other running backs.
Speaker 5 (01:06:57):
So yeah, I think Oklahoma is good.
Speaker 9 (01:07:00):
I don't know what's going to happen in the Red
River shootout, but I think Oklahoma has got a much
better looking team than they did recently. And I think
the victory over Michigan was significant. You know, they were
very average last year and USC should have beat them
in the Big House and blew it because they gave
up some long runs. So I see Oklahoma as a
(01:07:24):
much better team, and that's good because Venables was going
to be on a hot seat if they had a
bad start, so they.
Speaker 5 (01:07:29):
Really needed to beat Michigan.
Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
I guess speaking of Michigan, we'll stick in the Big
Ten and go to Illinois. I know they're two to
oer and haven't really beaten anyone of note yet, but
we know the whole sports cliche. It's different when you
go from being the hunter to being the hunted. Do
you think there's something to that, the idea that you're
no longer flying under the radar if you were a
school like Illinois that's not a football powerhouse, does it
matter to the players that coaches the program? Now you
have expectations before you really didn't.
Speaker 9 (01:07:54):
I mean, I think the expectations are different than they
would be in Ohio State. Right, Like a lot of
people Illinois are going to be happy if they just
win eight games. I mean, that's going to be a
miraculous season given their recent history Lovey Smith and beyond.
But when they went out and hired Brett Bilama, they
hired a real Big ten coach that knows how to
(01:08:15):
recruit and win in that part of the world, in
the Big Ten, and he knows how to make them physical.
He knows how to make them compete. It took him
a little bit of a while, but when they made
that higher, I said, and I don't know what happened
at Arkansas, but this guy is a great fit in
that conference. And you could say, well, at Arkansas he
was just kind of pulling the same oars with Barry Alvarez,
(01:08:38):
and he inherited a great program a lah Lincoln Riley.
But this would be kind of like if Lincoln Riley
went to USC and USC was more like UCLA, you know,
and the pantheon of sports in the area, and turned
them into a real contender, so to speak, kind of
like Jim Mora did ten years ago or whatever.
Speaker 5 (01:08:57):
So I love the hire of Bilama.
Speaker 9 (01:09:00):
I thought that Illinois would look great under Bilama eventually,
and that's where they're at now as far as expectations
versus reality. You know, are they going to dominate the
season in the Big Ten? No? But they have a
favorable schedule and they have a great culture of football
(01:09:21):
in Champagne or ban. I mean, that's where Dick Buckis
and Ray Nichke played. It's a I mean, not to
mention Mendenhall, but it's a special place for football. At
least it always has been for me. And I think
be Lama was just a perfect fit at that place
when he was hired.
Speaker 5 (01:09:40):
So I think they are not fools gold. I think
they're going to have success.
Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
Pee.
Speaker 4 (01:09:44):
I know he's not forty anymore, But is Mike Gundy
still a man?
Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
At least?
Speaker 4 (01:09:48):
Afterward Oregon did to Oklahoma State, Like, why is he
getting into it with Dan Lanning? Why are people targeting Oregon?
Speaker 9 (01:09:53):
It looks like, well, people say whatever, I mean the
more egregious one from last year, I mean Organ's number,
and Mike Gundy's always gotten loose with it and said
wacky stuff, and you know, he's got his mullet and
the giant tortoise on his little fiefdom there in still Water.
He played quarterback there, he coached there. I mean, he's
not left Stillwater. I mean I think maybe like maybe
(01:10:15):
two or three years in his coaching career he was
with Ralph Frigen at Maryland. But this guy is, you know,
died in the wool Oklahoma State cowboy. And I don't know,
if you're Oklahoma State, I don't know how you argue
with the success that he's sustained over the years, finding
ways to win football games where they are not like
(01:10:39):
the team in Norman and certainly not like the team
in Oregon. I do not like it when the season
starts and we're playing games and coaches make comments about
how much this team's nil is they're on your schedule,
you know. But these guys also do coaches shows and
they're talking to a bar full of their own fans,
(01:11:00):
and that kind of stuff kind of trickles out. In
a press conference last year, Jedfish, the Washington coach. Morgan's
number one rival is Washington and that's a hot contest
and Washington football ain't Oklahoma State, and Jed Fish said
something like, well, that's a twenty million dollar team over there.
It's like, yeah, nobody wants to hear that. Jed, you
(01:11:22):
don't get to that's your rival building excuses. Yeah, you
don't get to make that excuse. Let somebody else make
it for you. But I don't want to hear the
head now. Is it prevalent? Of course it's prevalent. But
do I want to hear the head coaches talking about it?
Speaker 5 (01:11:37):
No?
Speaker 9 (01:11:37):
Not when they get paid millions of dollars just to
say the coach stuff in the season's playing. Support your players,
support your coaches. Don't talk about how much money everybody's making,
lest we all talk about how much money you're making.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Right, Well, the idea that the hypocrisy too is not
like they had somebody named Tebooon Pickens who piped in
millions of dollars at the Oklahoma state program and made
them what they basically were under my gunny for all
those years.
Speaker 9 (01:12:01):
That's the part everybody Spider Man pointing at each other,
and everybody would take Everybody would take Phil Knight's money
if they had the opportunity, except for Justin Wilcox because
he couldn't bring his own staff.
Speaker 4 (01:12:12):
Feels more like venoms pointing at each other with all
this stuff.
Speaker 5 (01:12:16):
So yeah, well it's kind of gotten that way, hasn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
It's toxin. Well, since Oklahoma State we're talking about it.
Let's stick with the Big Twelve because a lot of
people think that the conference is pretty wide open.
Speaker 3 (01:12:25):
Utah has looked good early on. Iowa State a team
that I like has been good. Baylor got that big
win over SMU last weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
Is there a team in the Big Twelve that you're
bullish on here before they really get into a conference play?
Speaker 9 (01:12:36):
Yeah, I like you've seen so far that quarterback from
Utah is a little bit inaccurate. But I like he's
a wild player Dan Peer, and we had him a
few times last year with Broncko Mendenhall at New Mexico,
And you know, Kyle Weddingham knows what he's doing and
he knows how to build a team, and last year
I think was uncharacteristic and embarrassing for Utah their first
(01:12:57):
year in the Big Twelve. So he's somebody to keep
an eye on. I love Matt Campbell. I can't believe
no one else has hired him anywhere else. USC should
have hired him years ago. And that's my favorite quarterback
in the Big twelve, Rock Obeck and just their overall
scheme with their big nickel and that safety that plays
way back and makes a bunch of tackles. Iowa State
(01:13:19):
knows what they're doing and I like them a whole
lot in the Big Twelve this year. Yeah, I think
those two would those are the two best quarterbacks in
my estimation that are going or the two most exciting.
So we'll see how it plays out from there. But
as far as a sleeper team in the Big twelve goes,
and that's not Colorado Houston, Colorado tonight, yeah yeah, I would.
Speaker 5 (01:13:45):
I would say it's it's the Iowa State Clones.
Speaker 4 (01:13:48):
Petros Papadek is on the call later today with Trent
Rush on Fox as they got Air Force visiting the
Utah State Aggies. Pee, thanks for coming on FNA on FSR.
Thank you guys, fight af Yes, fight on.
Speaker 2 (01:14:01):
I was not expecting that, he says it in IRONICUA.
Speaker 3 (01:14:05):
Thanks salute to the Trojans who have a huge matchup
on the Big Ten today against Purdue.
Speaker 4 (01:14:10):
We still got big matchups to talk about in the NFL.
We haven't got to our beer goggles game, our old
Troy game.
Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
The NFL six pack moves on. It continues on next to here.
FNA on FSR stick around.
Speaker 10 (01:14:22):
If I could get in a Broadway show, then I
would have done it all film, television, and theater.
Speaker 2 (01:14:27):
Something loves to be Radio that's just for ugly people.
Speaker 4 (01:14:30):
FNA, COTTONNA, Welcome back in f and A on FSR

Speaker 3 (01:15:05):
It's right, Adam, Let's get back into our NFL six
pack as quickly as we can here. We're probably not
gonna be able to finish these things, so we'll carry
it over.
Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
To the top of next hour. But let's keep this
thing rolling Mark, beer goggles Gay, the beer.
Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
Goggles game, the ugly matchup that might actually turn out
to be entertaining.
Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
Adam, what do you got all right?
Speaker 4 (01:15:21):
Normally, when you think of the old NFC West sober
and the forty nine Ers against the Saints, I get
sick to my stomach thinking of all those regional games
I was forced to watch up in NorCal as a
kid when there were better games on nationally, but of
course no NFL league pass. Then I was at the
Niners mercy. I was forced to watch all those forty
nine ers ass whoopings they would put on the division
(01:15:44):
horrible till the Panthers got there.
Speaker 3 (01:15:46):
Horrible this se year, a quasi hometown team just dominating everybody,
and you hate it, every second of it, so much
so such thing you decided not to be a fan
of them.
Speaker 4 (01:15:53):
This West Coast offense, dissecting all these defenses, I couldn't
take it. It was kind of like the Pack one
days with Pete Carroll in USC. The Niners were dominant
in that old NFC West. There was a stretch from
ninety one to ninety nine where the Saints went two
and fourteen against the forty nine ers.
Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
They were running out quarterbacks like.
Speaker 4 (01:16:15):
Steve Walsh, Heath Schuler, Billy Joe Hobert, Billy Joe Tolliver,
Danny Warfol and Sunday it will be Spencer Rattler. A
Rattler hasn't looked this shook since Eric Dickerson brought out
the Crossman Pella gun gun that he told us about
on Rogan and Rodney earlier this week on Football Monday
(01:16:35):
on a five to seventy like, I could see things
getting wacky though for some reason, because the forty nine
ers are without Rock Party, I could see things going
sideways like this game sober. You may think it's an
easy win for the Niners even without Rock Party, because
the Saints might be the worst team in the league.
But with beer goggles on, I can see the Saints
hanging around against mac Jones and maybe even get a win.
(01:17:00):
Because I'm not drinking a mac Jones soda here. I
got my beer goggles on. I'm thinking differently than when
I initially saw this game with clear eyes.
Speaker 2 (01:17:10):
You know we actually agree on this one.
Speaker 3 (01:17:12):
Really, Yes, this is my beer goggles game as well,
for many of the same reasons. I will say Kyle
Shanahan has had success, for lack of a better term,
cast off for quarterbacks who don't have the highest of expectations.
Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
Rock Party's one of them, who was a seventh round
draft pick.
Speaker 3 (01:17:27):
Nick Mullens had a run there a few years ago
where he had a couple of good starts when Jimmy
Garoppolo got hurt. So and look, mac Jones was the
guy that the forty nine ers loved reportedly before they
took Trey Lance, before everything flipped on its head, like
the day of the draft.
Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
That's right, everybody was talking about mac Jones going to
the forty nine ers. Well that's why they trade up, right, Yeah,
Well now he's finally here. So if this is what
they're looking for, now you have them. To your point.
Injuries up and down the roster for the forty nine ers.
For the Saints, they have skill position guys who are good.
Speaker 3 (01:17:54):
Alva Kamaraz lost a step, but Alave Shaheed Cooks are
good receivers. You just don't know what to expect from
the quarterback position.
Speaker 2 (01:18:01):
It's SENC.
Speaker 3 (01:18:01):
Rattler, But for some reason, I'm kind of with you.
I think this game has a chance to get a
little wacky. Now, I don't think it's gonna go over
the forty and a half points spread. I don't know
if I'd go that crazy, but I do think he
could be fairly entertaining, you know, twenty one seventeen type games,
something like that.
Speaker 4 (01:18:15):
And the Saints weren't that bad opening week, They're at home,
they played well. I think they can keep it close
against the Niners offense that may be suppressed a little
bit without Rock Perdy. Who knows how long CMC the
Factory is going to be up and running with Christian McCaffrey,
I love him, one of my favorites ever, former Carolina Panther.
(01:18:36):
But I do kind of feel like this is one
of those games where I wouldn't mess around with this one.
If we're talking two on two off, which we will
get to a little bit later with our picks. Brie,
I know is happy about this, Brie. It took us
putting on the beer goggles to like your Saints in
a matchup that may not happen very often this season,
(01:18:57):
but with them taking on the Niners. As Kevin mentioned,
with all the health issues going on, we were.
Speaker 11 (01:19:02):
Juwan Johnson touchdown away from actually winning or tying the
Cardinals last week. So let's chill on the Saints being
the worst team. They were like hanging around just saying, well, if.
Speaker 4 (01:19:12):
The Cardinals are the second worst team, you know you
don't know that yet, shake out.
Speaker 3 (01:19:17):
I think we all know that the Panthers and Saints
are on a track for the first and second pick
in the draft.
Speaker 2 (01:19:22):
Wait a second, yes.
Speaker 5 (01:19:24):
I mean, am I wrong?
Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
Am I wrong? The Raiders are one to oer and
Kevin's got a little Winders are going straight straight for
seven and ten. That is a low blow. That is
a low blow on a guy who's struggling, hurting, missing
practice all week long, working his ass off to try
to make sure that he plays and helps his team
win on Monday. That's uncalled for, Brie.
Speaker 4 (01:19:46):
You know, I forgot. Did you have the Raiders winning
the AFC West or is it the team they're playing
this week that you have winning the.
Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
Chargers winning the AFC West? And I will not vacillate
off of that prediction. And I will say so far
through one game, and one game sample size is all
you need.
Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
Why are we even play the rest of the season.
I'll give you this.
Speaker 4 (01:20:02):
It feels like there's a little bit of culture there,
because not only do you have a new head coach,
you paired him with his old quarterback in Geno Smith.
So there's a little bit more continuity than you would
expect with all the turnover going on with the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
I agree one thousand percent.
Speaker 3 (01:20:16):
And look, first of all, the bar was low to
begin with, So yes, they're setting a culture. They do
want to turn things around quickly and have an expectation
to win. They're just not going to compete for the
division this year. It's not going to happen overnight. That
division is way too tough. We still have many categories
to get to here on the NFL six pack. We
will continue that at the top of next hour FNA
on FSR.
Speaker 1 (01:20:36):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
Final hour of Fox Football Saturday with F and A.
You can find me at KFIG one on x you
can find Adam at Follow Adam A.
Speaker 2 (01:20:48):
Coming up in just a little bit, we'll talk about
trash talk in sports, your garbage a little.
Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
I mean, yeah, that's actually pretty tame compared to some
things I've heard throughout the years. Yeah, so some trash
talk sometimes when it pay often guys are able to
back up. And sometimes I feel like almost most of
the time, guys talk a little bit of trash, pop
off at the mouth and they have to end up
eating their words.
Speaker 4 (01:21:08):
Yeah, it blows up in their face somehow. But we
still got our NFL six pack with three more categories
to go, including this one, our Oh Troy potential matchup missed.
Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
Oh my god, oh try, I'm so sorry.
Speaker 4 (01:21:37):
So that occurred back in twenty sixteen, an old man
breaking his cane and screaming over the fact Blair Walsh
missed a twenty six yard field goal that would have
won the Vikings a wild card game against the Seahawks.
Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
Correct.
Speaker 3 (01:21:48):
So in this category the Old Troy Potential, what player
coach team has the potential for an epic fail this
coming weekend?
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
Adam, you want to start here, Kevin, I'll start now.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
I'll actually go with Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburg Steeler
offense against Seattle. Everyone's going crazy over Pittsburgh and their
offense and how good they looked against the Jets last week,
and rightfully, so I'll say this, like I said last week, Adam,
all Aaron Rodgers needs to do is be good. He
doesn't need to be Superman anymore. He has the talent
around him. Hopefully they're able to run the ball a
little bit, and I think they can be a legitimate
(01:22:18):
contender in the AFC North if he just plays competent football.
And he did more than that, I would say last
weekend throwing four touchdown passes. So I don't think last
week was necessarily a fluke, and I think the Steeler
offense does have a high ceiling. But one thing that
we also talked about last week was the fact that
Seattle has a really young, really fast, really talented defense,
(01:22:38):
and that showed itself against San Francisco last week. They
were in it until the very end, and again the
rock Party short hail Mary pass in the back of
the end zone to the backup tight end Tongs, who
made a great play on the ball. No disrespect there,
but it wasn't as if brock Party did anything magical.
Speaker 2 (01:22:54):
He really just threw the ball up for grabs and
Ton just went up and got it. Now, they were
very fortunate. Seattle could have easily won that game.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
I know they allowed over three hundred and eighty yards
of total offense, but they held firm in the red zone.
Forced a couple of turnovers and we're on the field
for nearly forty minutes. Wow, that tells you all bat
the Seattle offense was last week. The Steelers are down
three defensive starters this week, including Joey Porter Junior, which
means that Jackson Smith and Jigbuck can get off again
like he did this past week. Had over one hundred
and thirty yards receiving. So just a decent performance and
(01:23:23):
a couple of sustained drives by the Seattle offense means
that defense is fresher and not on the field as long.
So I believe this game will be closer than a
lot of people think. And I think that Steeler offense
is not going to move up and down the field
and rack up over thirty points like they did last week,
not this weekend at least.
Speaker 4 (01:23:38):
All right, I got some old Troy potential for.
Speaker 5 (01:23:41):
You, Oh Troy, I'm so sorry. God.
Speaker 4 (01:23:47):
As much as I was killing John Harbaugh earlier, that's
equal to how bad I think the Browns may get
killed by an angry Ravens team that John Harbaugh engineered
a Week one four up, fifteen to four minutes left
against the Bills. Yes, the Browns have the former Ravens
quarterback in Joe Flacco, on the road, back in his
(01:24:08):
old stomping grounds. But it will be the Browns getting
curved stomped, maybe in historic fashion. Their worst loss in
franchise history is actually only by forty eight.
Speaker 2 (01:24:19):
They lost to the Jaguars by forty eight back in
the year two thousand.
Speaker 4 (01:24:23):
I'm not saying the Ravens are going to win big
because they used to be the Browns and there's an
AFC North rivalry. I'm saying it's because they are by
far the superior team and are out to avenge and
old Troy epic collapse that they had the week before
Sunday Night against the Bills. They aren't just trying to
(01:24:43):
win a game. They are trying to get back a
game they gave away last week. And the Browns will
be at their mercy. Browns fans, you might not want
to wait till the second quarter to turn this game off.
Just pretend it's a bye.
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
Week for them and they aren't even playing Sunday because
Cleveland is getting rocked by the Ravens. I think, really
that's a big one. That's a big no. No, it's
not wrong.
Speaker 3 (01:25:06):
That's also a really big points spread, by the way,
I think at last check on Bett MGM, it was
at eleven and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
Yeah, it's big. Yeah, that's that's a big line. But
they agree with me. Old Troy potential is there. Yeah,
it makes sense, It makes all the sense in the world.
What do we have next, mark under the microscope?
Speaker 3 (01:25:21):
Yes, the game where player everyone should watch closely this
weekend and I am going to go with Justin Fields
against those Buffalo Bills. One thing, one thing I respect
about Jets fans. They don't get too high or too
low because they've seen too much. They've seen too much.
Speaker 2 (01:25:35):
As Victor brick Jacobs would say, schlock at the quarterback
the Jets fan at the quarterback position throughout the years
to get too hyped up about one week performance by
Justin Fields.
Speaker 3 (01:25:46):
So a lot of national pundits were going crazy over
how we looked. And he looked good, no, no disrespect,
he looked very, very good. The new offensive court and
they're out there. Tanner Engstron from the Lions has done
a great job so far.
Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
Garrett Wilson, hold onto that ball, huh yeah, I know.
Jalen Ramsey hits you pretty hard, but you're getting paid
a lot. You're a great receiver. Hold on, gotta get
those hands man.
Speaker 3 (01:26:05):
I will say this the problem with Justin Fields that
has played him throughout his career, he's inconsistency.
Speaker 2 (01:26:11):
You know, he can look I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:26:13):
Think he's ever looked great, but he's one of those
what separates I guess, a backup quarterback from just a
decent starter as someone who can be average to above
average more often than not, and too often for Justin
Fields it is below average average good, below average, below
average average, and you just don't know what you're gonna
get on.
Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
A week two week basis.
Speaker 3 (01:26:32):
One thing I do like about the offense based on
what they did last week against Pittsburgh, is they tailored
around his skill set. They did a lot of RPO stuff.
He had a lot of easy reads in the passing game.
So similar to Jalen Hurts, if they formulate the offense
around his individual talents, I think the Jets can actually
do pretty well. So I am intrigued as to how
that Jets' offense is gonna look now going up against
(01:26:53):
the Buffalo Bills defense that, as we mentioned, got shredded
pretty much up and down the field on Sunday night.
The offense was able to just kind of build them
out towards the end. And oh, by the way, Ed
Oliver as a Friday not as listed as doubtful or
possibly even out. Now he might have been downgraded to out,
but it's unlikely that Ed Oliver is gonna play. He's
one of Buffalo's best defensive players. And again, they gave
(01:27:14):
up a lot of points to Baltimore last week. So
I am intrigued to see how Justin Fields follows up
his epic performance against the Steelers last weekend with a
matchup against Buffalo this weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
Okay, I like that.
Speaker 4 (01:27:25):
Under the microscope pick, I'm going with Ben Johnson heading
back to Detroit bear's hat in hand after they blew
a seventeen to six lead on Monday night in the
fourth quarter, which was weird because everyone on X was saying,
Caleb Williams is fine. Now, I believe our friend Jason
Smith was. People were killing JJ McCarthy, Colin Cowherd was
(01:27:50):
going after him.
Speaker 2 (01:27:52):
The script flipped. Can we let these guys get through
a full game in the regular season.
Speaker 3 (01:27:59):
Caleb Williams get off one series, that's scripted for him
at the beginning, and then we can start judging.
Speaker 4 (01:28:02):
Them script merchant, that's what they were saying about him.
We don't need to reach any conclusions this quickly. Like
the race to be first with hot takes is a
sad one and often leaves the rest of us driving
past the car wreckage from those prisoners of the moment. Well,
we're on a more reasonable route to sports analysis here,
(01:28:25):
Like how I think it's reasonable to criticize a new
head coach known for outsmarting the competition back when he
was an OC, not realizing he could have saved forty
seconds at the end of that game if he just
had his kicker kick it out of bounds instead of
letting the Vikings take it out of the end zone
and therefore reaching and going past the two minute warning.
Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
Which, by the way, Kevin O'Connell looked at his return
and told him, come out, don't take a knee. I
don't care how deep that ball is in.
Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
The end zone. The clock is our friend. Let those
precious seconds tick off. I think KOC might be the
best head coach coach in the NFL currently. He's in
the upper echelon for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:29:03):
We'll see this is a big season another young quarterback.
If they make the playoffs again like they've had the
last couple of seasons. They're over under for wins was
like eight, and they shot way above that with him.
Speaker 5 (01:29:16):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:29:16):
I said this for Dion with Colorado recently, these coaches
continue to prove they can't manage the clock. Ben Johnson,
you could have had forty seven seconds left down three
to get into field goal range had you just kicked
it out of bounds. Do not risk your kicker not
having the leg to kick it out the back of
the end zone. It's the difference of five yards. Who
(01:29:39):
cares about them getting in at the thirty five or
the forty. The time is the enemy.
Speaker 3 (01:29:43):
Field position doesn't matter because if you don't it doesn't matter.
If if you don't stop them way backed up or
across midfield, you got to get a stop regardless.
Speaker 4 (01:29:51):
He took a lot of blame post game, rightfully, So
I got him under the microscope because he has a
lot more responsibility now as a head coach compared to
being the OCE and Caleb Williams started the game ten
for ten. As you mentioned, a lot of scripted plays
in there, he struggled later on improvising They're in Detroit
against a Lions team that got thoroughly dominated by the
(01:30:14):
Packers week one. Who has the advantage the Lions knowing
Ben Johnson's tendencies or Ben Johnson knowing Dan Campbell and
his replacement at OC who wasn't there with the Lions
though last season. As you brought up earlier, I think
the advantage goes actually to the Packers and Viking, honestly,
because I'm convinced that the Bears and Lions are the
(01:30:36):
two lesser teams in the NFC North.
Speaker 2 (01:30:38):
So who's playing for third places? What you're saying, is
this game there, Adam?
Speaker 4 (01:30:41):
Yeah, as Larry Bird once said, who's going for second
in this three point contest?
Speaker 2 (01:30:46):
I like it?
Speaker 4 (01:30:47):
All right, there's my under the microscope, but we've still.
Speaker 2 (01:30:50):
Got redemption route.
Speaker 3 (01:30:53):
Yes, the teamer player looking to bounce back from last week,
I am going to go with the Cincinnati Bengals offense now.
Last week on two on two off I said that
I thought the Browns would cover the spread and Joe
Flacco would hit the over on two hundred and forty
four yards, passing check mark on both of those I
got both of those right.
Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
It was a great call by you, Kevin Kenn. I
messed up where it mattered, though.
Speaker 3 (01:31:16):
What I was woefully wrong when I took the over
on the total, assuming that both offenses was a light
up the scoreboard and take advantage of the opposing defense.
Speaker 2 (01:31:24):
It was actually the exact opposite. They malfunctioned in the
and the red zone a little bit. It turned into
a defensive battle.
Speaker 5 (01:31:30):
Though.
Speaker 2 (01:31:30):
That is true.
Speaker 3 (01:31:31):
And there was an interesting stat that I saw earlier
this week, and I could not track it down for
the life of me, even though I looked for it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:36):
But basically, dating back to.
Speaker 3 (01:31:38):
Joe Burrow's rookie year, his statistical production is significantly worse
in weeks one and two than it is for the
remainder of the season. Why that is, I have no idea,
But he's been in the league long enough to where
you can say this is a trend, it's not an anomaly.
For some reason, Joe Burrow gets off to very slow
starts individually recurring pattern. Yeah, and by the way, not
(01:32:00):
surprisingly so do the Cincinnati Bengals as a team. Now,
the Jaguars are not necessarily a juggernaut defensively, I know
they held your Panthers to ten points, but come on,
come on, how dare you Alabama can hold the Panthers
are ten points?
Speaker 8 (01:32:12):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:32:12):
All right, Kevin, We're not doing this Alabama.
Speaker 3 (01:32:14):
This versions of Alabama with Kaitlyn de Boor can hold them. No,
I'm joking out you see, stop that right now. Obviously
that's not true. But the Jags look better on defense
this year, I will say that. So this week for
Joe Burrow is gonna be really big. This is gonna
be key to see if he can book the trend
and get this Bengals offense off the ground and actually
get them playing better against it. Improved but far from
(01:32:36):
domin the Jacksonville Jaguar defense.
Speaker 2 (01:32:38):
Can they do it? I don't know, but.
Speaker 3 (01:32:40):
I'm interested to see how Cincinnati comes out and see
if they can break this trend of starting slowly offensively
in the first couple of games of the season. So
that's who looking to redeem themselves this week, the Cincinnati
Bengals offense.
Speaker 4 (01:32:51):
All right, my redemption round pick. You know, last week
I told you all about Danny Dimes. I didn't just
say redemption week. I really stuck my neck out there
and said redemption season, and it was a nice start
by Daniel Jones against the Fins this week. I actually
think the team he beat in the Miami Dolphins, redeems themselves.
(01:33:13):
Not necessarily Tyreek Kill as a person, he might be
irredeemable with all these new allegations now too, But the
Dolphins team I think responds on the field after loosening
to the Colts thirty three to eight.
Speaker 3 (01:33:24):
I mean, you better you had a players only meeting
after week one. It doesn't get more rock bottom than that.
Speaker 2 (01:33:30):
I have never heard of.
Speaker 3 (01:33:30):
That happening in the history of sports, that any team
has a player's only closed door meeting after one week.
Speaker 4 (01:33:36):
What's worse, it happens in a preseason game, like how
does now their host and the Patriots? The Dolphins are Patriots,
lost to your Raiders at home. I still believe in
Mike McDaniel in his offense.
Speaker 2 (01:33:49):
You are the few remaining there.
Speaker 4 (01:33:51):
I know he's an innovator, and I think as long
as he has toua they can still be dangerous. But
I do worry about the fact that the Dolphin no
longer where there's a helmet on the logo for the
Dolphins when you have a quarterback who's been through so
many concussions, seems like it should be safety first over there.
I never liked the new Cyber Dolphin logo. I just
(01:34:12):
wanted to get that out there. But I seriously do
worry about too. I'm not sure he should be playing anymore.
But ultimately it's his decision.
Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
I would say it's safety first.
Speaker 3 (01:34:21):
The onus and the responsibility falls on Chris Greer and
McDaniel to make sure that they have an offensive line
that could protect their quarterback who's been taking a lot
of shots over the last couple of years. Good point,
and he was running for his life from the opening
snap last week.
Speaker 2 (01:34:36):
That's the issue.
Speaker 3 (01:34:37):
So Tua, unfortunately, who's a talented player, and when things
are working, I think he's a well above average NFL quarterback.
He's a good starting NFL quarterback. But he needs to
have some time. It's a protection like anybody does.
Speaker 2 (01:34:49):
One of the more accurate modern quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (01:34:51):
He just hasn't had time, and they have not invested
well or drafted well in the offensive line, and they
got thoroughly dominated up front last week. Now the Patriots
on beaters on the d line. This is not the
you know the you know Patriots of the two thousands.
But the problem, Seymore's not walking through that door.
Speaker 2 (01:35:06):
No he's not.
Speaker 3 (01:35:07):
But I still, I still don't feel feel optimistic about
this Miami Dolphin offense. It is not because of Tyreek
Hill or Jalen Waddle or even Tua. I just don't
think they're good enough up front fair They just aren't.
Speaker 4 (01:35:20):
But they're my redemption team this week. I'm rooting for Tua.
I'm rooting for the Dolphins to have some success and
bounce back this weekend at home against the Patriots. Mostly,
I'm rooting.
Speaker 2 (01:35:30):
For me to be right here and look like a
genius when everybody's counting the Dolphins out. That's what's really
about zig When everyone else eggs, I understand it. I
understand it.
Speaker 3 (01:35:37):
So that is that will wrap up the NFL six
pack here on fn A on FSR.
Speaker 2 (01:35:42):
Coming up next. Trash talkers.
Speaker 3 (01:35:46):
Yeah, how do you feel about trash talkers and professional
sports or college sports, any sport.
Speaker 2 (01:35:50):
Really?
Speaker 3 (01:35:51):
Sometimes they talk trash and it pays offense. Sometimes it
comes back and bites him in the butt.
Speaker 4 (01:35:54):
Puts your foot in your mouth when you can't back
it up right and checked you can't cash.
Speaker 2 (01:35:59):
That's it up next here on FNA on FSR.
Speaker 12 (01:36:03):
Please talk to me, please FNA Cotton, Yes, welcome back,

Speaker 4 (01:36:43):
It's FDA on FSR. And we got Mike in Tucson
calling in.
Speaker 2 (01:36:47):
Oh no doubt, celebrating the huge victory last night for
Arizona over Kansas State.
Speaker 13 (01:36:56):
You guys, so se Bengos well his close start, he
has the best weapons. Jamar ches there. There's there's no
ex kiss for it, but I can talk about my raiders.
Speaker 2 (01:37:07):
Bro.
Speaker 8 (01:37:08):
Oh Okay, everyone loves the Broncos, and I feel like
bo Nicks is going to have a sophomore swamp. I
could see it, just like Daniels in the AFC West.
But everyone loves the Broncos harders. No one gets as
credit and.
Speaker 13 (01:37:22):
I think that was a good win. That was a
good win, but they still say we'll finish for place,
and I just hate that we don't get no credit.
To think your Daddy's Raiders from from the past. We're
building something, we have a good coach, and I just
want to what do you guys think about this? And like,
we get no credit, no love for the It's tough,
(01:37:42):
but I think Bo Nixon is going to struggle. I
saw the game last week. He did not look good.
Speaker 2 (01:37:48):
Em I could see that happening.
Speaker 4 (01:37:49):
But the Raiders are in a prove it situation just
because the division is so tough and they've had roster turnover.
Speaker 3 (01:37:54):
Yeah, they have an uphill client because the other three
teams in the division have a little bit more of
a head start than the two them do. So it's
not as if like I'm a Raider fan, I'm as
optimistic as you are, Mike. And look, I love the
victory last week against the Patriots, the fact that they
were not able to run the ball at all with
Ashton Gentz, and they were really able to put the
game on the shoulders of Gino Smith and he was
(01:38:15):
able to come through and make some big throws and
through for over three hundred and sixty yards. Now, the
problem is you can do that against the Patriots, who
are one of the worst teams in the NFL. I
don't know if it's sustainable all year long to ride
the arm or the shoulder of Geno Smith and not
have that run game work out. So I'm hopeful that
it improves, and I think the Raiders will be improved
this year. The problem is as they rise from the bottom,
(01:38:38):
the teams above them, I think have also taken a
next step up too. So even if Boennicks has a
sophomore slump, individually, that Bronco defense is a beast, and
I think their run game is going to be improved
this year too. So I think the Bronco team is
better than the Raiders as a team, and I think
those teams are going to be fighting it out for
number three in the AFC West.
Speaker 2 (01:38:55):
I still think this is a Charger Chief Division this year.
Speaker 4 (01:38:58):
I think it's a great point to point out that
the d by the way, yeah my good phone call,
incrementally could take a step forward.
Speaker 5 (01:39:07):
But if the.
Speaker 4 (01:39:07):
Teams around them are doing the same thing, you know
you're still in that same spot where you could finish
last in the division.
Speaker 3 (01:39:14):
Yeah, the Raiders still have questions up front of their
defensive line. Not having Christian Wilkins, who they cut loose
with the injury issue, is a big loss because he
and Max Crosby were pretty much the two stalwarts.
Speaker 2 (01:39:24):
So their D line is not very strong.
Speaker 3 (01:39:26):
Revamped their entire defensive secondary and classic Pete Carroll fashion
a bunch of cast offs. Devin White was a guy
who bounced around, hadn't played well in a couple of years.
He had a great game last week. Jamal Adams came
out of I don't even know. I don't know if
he was officially retired or not, but Jamal Adams came
back converted from safety to the linebacker, had a great
training camp and has played well early on in the
(01:39:46):
first week. So I think the Raiders things are trending
up for them. The problem is they're trending up in
a division that is also trending up near the top.
Speaker 5 (01:39:53):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:39:53):
The Raiders are known for being the bad boys, especially
under the late great Al Davis. They were known to
talk some trash and people talking back to them.
Speaker 2 (01:40:03):
The Raiders suck unnecessary.
Speaker 4 (01:40:05):
This week we had a little smacktop though, Kenna.
Speaker 3 (01:40:08):
Yeah, so we talked about the Cleveland Browns taking on
the Baltimore Baltimore Ravens and a revenge game for Baltimore
after what happened this past weekend. And Grant Delpit, good
defensive back for Cleveland, had an interesting quote when he
was asked about taking on Derrick Henry and this Baltimore
Ravens run game.
Speaker 2 (01:40:28):
Not harm I mean we were going back that we
saw it last year. You obviously weren't afraid in that
first matchup to take him on, you know, So where's
that company at the mindseton playing football? Man, it's tackle football.
Somebody got the buy you got to bring him down.
Speaker 3 (01:40:41):
So if you didn't hear the question that was posed
to him, they said how hard? How difficult is it
to tackle Derrick Henry? And Grand delp It said not
hard at all. Yeah, this is our job.
Speaker 5 (01:40:51):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:40:51):
I would have been like, I don't know, is it
tough to take down Thanos?
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
Yes, very exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:40:57):
So.
Speaker 3 (01:40:58):
Derrick Henry was told about his quote, and Derek Kinner's
response was he had a quote, We'll see what happens
on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:41:06):
Oh boy. So And now, as trash talk goes, this
is probably a little bit more on the tamer side.
But obviously Derrek Henry one of the harder running backs
in the NFL the time.
Speaker 3 (01:41:15):
I mean, he's bigger than linebackers. I mean, it's ridiculous
how huge the guy.
Speaker 4 (01:41:18):
Is well, and the way he is moving his feet
and going laterally still at the age of what thirty one,
maybe at this point still has juice in his legs.
He still has wiggle out there. When you see the
overhead camera that they show up there on the zip line,
and you really see the speed in that overhead Madden
(01:41:38):
view of how quickly he is moving. Guys have no
chance against him unless he fumbles the football and completely
turns the game in the bills favor.
Speaker 3 (01:41:47):
Yeah, there's that, which is why I think he's gonna
have a big game this weekend too, because he shouldered
all of the blame by the way, which he shouldn't,
but he shouldered all on the blame after that loss.
Speaker 4 (01:41:56):
I still think hardball should have went for it on
fourth and three. Have Lamar Jack and Derrick Henry. I'm
gonna try to finish the game off right now, because
if you don't get that fourth and three, there's at
least a better chance you get the ball back with
some time. If you hold them to not getting a
first down and they kicked the field goal, then.
Speaker 2 (01:42:15):
I trust my two time MVP and my what three
time rushing champion or whatever it is, who just failed
short of two thousand yards rushing last year and your
defense was getting shredded.
Speaker 3 (01:42:23):
To be able to make a play and just know
how the game flow is going. But the back and
forth between Delpit and Derek Henry got us to thinking
about trash talk and professional football, or excuse me, just
professional sports in general over the years, and as certain
occasions where guys have kind of popped off at the mouth,
and there may be occasions were paid off and they
lived up to what they were talking about, and oftentimes
they pop off of the mouth and they what is
(01:42:44):
the old.
Speaker 2 (01:42:45):
Saying, you write a check that your butt can't cash.
Speaker 4 (01:42:48):
I got a guy, okay, who was able to write
all the checks in the world because he always backed
it up. I may be biased, but you tell me
a situation he didn't back it up. Steve Smith Senior.
I'm looking at twenty thirteen, a Monday night game Panthers
versus the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (01:43:07):
He and a keep to leb.
Speaker 4 (01:43:08):
Are getting into it, and I mean the entire game.
You go back and watch the highlights. They are going
back and forth the entire time. A keep to Leeb
had a fifteen yard penalty for unnecessary roughness early on
from holding on to Steve Smith's leg way after the whistle.
They were pushing and shoving and throwing hands and punches.
(01:43:30):
Watch the YouTube video. Trust me, this was a battle,
but Steve Smith eventually won it. His team also won
the game. It wasn't just him winning the individual battle.
You might remember this. You probably do remember. There was
a flag in the end zone as the Patriots were
on a final drive with Tom Brady down by four,
(01:43:51):
and the referees picked up the flag. Tom Brady gave
them an earfull after you could hear on the evil
four letter microphone. This was a memorable Monday night game,
but the best miked up guy in the game, of course,
was Steve Smith Senior post game saying this what.
Speaker 2 (01:44:11):
Happened between you and to leave on the field early
in the game.
Speaker 5 (01:44:13):
Oh no, you go ahead, so him because he had
to finished the game.
Speaker 2 (01:44:16):
Ice up, son, I suck ice up, son, ice up,
I keep to leave went out at some point. He
had some soreness going on. I don't know, but Steve
Smith let him hear.
Speaker 4 (01:44:28):
At Fallos game he got the best of them, Panthers
won the ball game. He backed up the talk and
there was trash talk leading into it, during it and
then afterwards there you heard it.
Speaker 2 (01:44:37):
That was amazing. They had some phenomenal battles those two
top son ice up. So did you keep to leave
in a Michael.
Speaker 3 (01:44:43):
Crabtree, Oh yeah, and Michael Crabtree and Richard Shermans Michael
Crabtree out in the middle level with everybody.
Speaker 4 (01:44:48):
You wear a necklace like that, people are going to
try to take it from you.
Speaker 3 (01:44:52):
He was a raider at that point when he got
his chain. Yank Al Davis would not have stood for that.
Speaker 2 (01:44:57):
That was a low moment there really was.
Speaker 3 (01:44:59):
I'm going to the two thousand and four NFC Wildcard
game at the Frozen tundra in Green Bay. Now it
wasn't quite frozen, but it was very cold. Seattle was
taking on the Green Bay Packers. The game goes into overtime,
so they walked to midfield.
Speaker 2 (01:45:13):
With the captains.
Speaker 3 (01:45:14):
There's a coin toss and as the coin is in
the air, or I should say after it hits the ground,
Seattle wins the coin toss and their starting quarterback at
the time is Matt Hasselback, and the referee says, you
want the toss. What do you choose to do? Matt
Hasselbeck says, quote, we want the ball and we're going
to score. So Seattle gets the ball first on the
(01:45:36):
very first snap of overtime. He drops back, throws the
ball towards the right side line. Al Harris of the
the fenceive back for the Green Bad Packers, jumps in
front of it, runs to the end zone, picks six,
game over Packers advance.
Speaker 2 (01:45:51):
Was it really the first passing through?
Speaker 3 (01:45:53):
It was the first pass It was a first snap, Oh,
the first snap of overtime.
Speaker 2 (01:45:58):
I totally forgot about this. Yes, Matt back, We're gonna
get the ball and we're gonna score.
Speaker 4 (01:46:03):
To this day, already lost his hair he would have
lost it.
Speaker 2 (01:46:05):
After this game.
Speaker 3 (01:46:06):
To this day, Matt hassebi gets asked about it and
he will never be able to live that down. Well,
that is one of the prime examples of shooting yourself
from the foot, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:46:16):
To be fair, Seattle did eventually get to a Super
Bowl with Matt And I'm going to reference that two
thousand and six Super Bowl game between the Seahawks and
Pittsburgh Steelers. Why because there was a lot of trash
talk between a tight end named Jeremy Stevens and a linebacker.
Speaker 2 (01:46:39):
Forgot about Jeremy Stevens dat a reality star or something.
Hope so Low. Oh well, she might as well have
been become a reality star after being a great athlete.
Speaker 4 (01:46:49):
Sure, the Wikipedia page of things that went on with
them it is lengthy. There is a real rap sheet
between them. But before any of that stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:47:00):
For Hope Sola more for some of her antics than
the fact that she was a great goalie.
Speaker 4 (01:47:04):
Jeremy Stevens wasn't ascending tight end at the time. He's
coming off a very good season, but he put his
foot in his mouth when he kind of guaranteed victory
for the Seattle Seahawks, leading up to the ballgame because
they were asking him about Jerome bettis you know, storybook
(01:47:24):
ending it could be for his career if he wins
the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:47:27):
Here Detroit, in his hometown. Yep.
Speaker 4 (01:47:29):
Jeremy Stevens goes, Yeah, it's a heartwarming story and all that,
but it will be a sad day when he leaves
without the trophy. Well, a linebacker Joey Porter mess with,
who was very outspoken back then. He got into that
and the fact that Jeremy Stevens was talking about their
offensive line and how they'll be able to block Joey Porter.
(01:47:54):
That also didn't work out too well for him. Joey
Porter responded by calling him so soft. Quote, he's too
soft to say.
Speaker 2 (01:48:03):
Something like that. He's gonna have an opportunity to back
up his words. I'm gonna have an opportunity.
Speaker 4 (01:48:08):
To back up my words. So it's something I'm looking
forward to and I'm ready to get going.
Speaker 2 (01:48:13):
Uh yeah, So who backed well.
Speaker 4 (01:48:16):
While Jeremy Stevens did catch a wide open I think
touchdown pass and had three catches, he also had three
drops and Joey Porter was a monster in that game.
Speaker 2 (01:48:27):
So are the referees. Seattle Seahawk fans won't forget about
that part of it. Steve Hutchinson tripping, phantom tripping penalty call.
Speaker 4 (01:48:34):
Yeah, but Joey Porter calling him soft a first round
bus and his Huckleberry, I don't know if that's a
reference to Tombstone.
Speaker 2 (01:48:43):
I'm your huckleberry. Maybe whatever.
Speaker 4 (01:48:47):
He got the best of Jeremy Stevens after he heard basically, oh, Seattle, Yeah,
we're gonna win this because Jerome Bettis is not going
out with the storybook ending, and Joe Porter and.
Speaker 2 (01:48:58):
The Steelers made him eat those.
Speaker 3 (01:48:59):
Where Yeah, the bus absolutely went out with the storybook ending.
Speaker 2 (01:49:03):
So thank you Jeremy Stevens for the bulletin board material.
And maybe you know this is one case where bad
things happen to bad people. If you look up Jeremy Stevens,
it's rough man. It did not go well. His career
went downhill, his life in some ways, I don't know.
I okay.
Speaker 3 (01:49:20):
So for my next one, I'm going to go to
a college football game that the NCAA would have you
to have, you know, never happened. This going to the
USC's two thousand and five rolls and excuse me not
Rose Bowl, the Orange Bowl, the National Championship game back
in the BCS era, where yes USC took on Oklahoma,
and leading up to the game, there was a reserve
(01:49:40):
defensive end for Oklahoma named Larry Birdine, and he was
asked about the challenges that the USC offense will present
to Oklahoma's defense.
Speaker 2 (01:49:49):
He says, quote, I.
Speaker 3 (01:49:51):
Feel like they're kind of like a one and a
half man team. Besides Reggie Bush, who's great and he's fast,
he makes plays or whatever, nobody else stands out to me.
Matt Lionard is overrated and didn't really deserve the Heisman Trophy.
Reggie should have gotten it anyway, So fast forward to
the game. Reggie had a good game, a great yeah,
(01:50:11):
one hundred and toty yards like sixty yards receiving and
thirty yards rushing something like that, or thirty five yards rushing.
Speaker 2 (01:50:17):
I remember Norm Chow had a good game.
Speaker 3 (01:50:19):
Meanwhile, the nobody's like Lyndale White, had one hundred yards
rushing and two touchdowns. Steve Smith the other Steve Smith,
not Steve Smith Senior, but this is the other Steve
Smith who eventually went to the Giants and won a
Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:50:31):
Dwayne Jarrett. Each of them over one hundred yards receiving for.
Speaker 3 (01:50:34):
USC and that overrated Matt Liner who never should have
won the Heisman Trophy three hundred and thirty yards passing
five touchdowns, no interceptions, and what was I believe a
fifty five to nineteen drubbing of USC over Oklahoma.
Speaker 4 (01:50:47):
I distinctly remember Matt Lionard afterwards being interviewed and saying,
there can be no doubt, there can be no doubt,
and he was referring to Auburn went undefeated that year, right, yes,
and so some people were obviously criticizing the BCS the
final matchup, rightfully, So whoever wins this game, should they
really be the national championship? And because they spanked them
(01:51:09):
like that, Matt Lioner was like, there can be no
doubt we're the best teams.
Speaker 3 (01:51:12):
No, there can be, there can be, and that's why
we needed to play Williams. Oh I asked Candillac Williams,
Jason Campbell, Ronnie Brown, all those guys on that team.
Speaker 2 (01:51:21):
Back then, you go undefeated in the SEC.
Speaker 3 (01:51:23):
The SEC, granted, is not then what it is now,
though it was still a great conference. There's no justification
for a major power conference team like that to not
have a chance to compete for a national championship. So
even though at that point in time I was a
USC honk big time USC Homer wanted them to win,
there was still something inside of me that felt a
little ichy about the fact that Auburn went undefeated and
(01:51:44):
didn't have a chance. By the way, Auburn does claim
a national championship that year, the fact they were defeated,
they believe they do.
Speaker 4 (01:51:50):
Okay, well, there can at least be no doubt that
USC was the much better team compared to Oklahoma.
Speaker 3 (01:51:55):
But the game never happened, Addams, So what are we
talking about? Stricken from the record books? Bowl will never happen,
there's no national championship?
Speaker 5 (01:52:01):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (01:52:01):
Men in black? The neuralizer exactly, the neuralized memory wiper,
erase it completely from your memory. So, Larry Birdine, I
guess you know it actually never happened. So maybe you're
right the man in black? All right, Bret, what do
you got here?
Speaker 4 (01:52:14):
Notable trash talking in sports history that you can't forget about?
Speaker 11 (01:52:19):
Okay, well, obviously, Kobe, I think that's just like a
natural obviously, like learning a whole different language, should like
talk to Tony Parker like French. He learned French specifically
to talk trash to him, and he learned Slovenian to
talk trash to Luca.
Speaker 2 (01:52:34):
That is a good pool by you. I totally forgot
about it, did you really?
Speaker 1 (01:52:38):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:52:39):
Wow? Yeah, that was huge. Kobe was diabolical like that.
Speaker 5 (01:52:43):
You can do better.
Speaker 2 (01:52:45):
You can't do much better than that, ri Ip Kobe.
Speaker 11 (01:52:47):
Bryant, and then obviously Kevin Garnett and uh, you know,
we'll just go uh, you know, serial marriage, all that
stuff you can't get over.
Speaker 3 (01:52:56):
Kevin Garnett's like little shot at Anthony Peeler in a
playoff game years ago, go, oh, you walked off and
did this little half fast shove in the chest and
Anthony Peeler just hauled back and knocked the crap out
of him.
Speaker 2 (01:53:06):
Yeah. I was like you had that coming, KG, right, Yes,
Cavi Guard was with the Timberwolves. Anthony Peeler was with
the Kings at the time.
Speaker 4 (01:53:13):
And that was in game six. There would be a
game seven. Anthony Peeler was suspended for that Game seven.
It hurt Sacramento honestly in the long run. But speaking
of KG, the stuff he said leading up to that
game seven.
Speaker 2 (01:53:27):
I'm bringing the bazookaka. Yeah, got a couple of aks.
And then Brad Miller of the Sacramento Kings, who was
a hunter, was like, I got my bow and arrow,
my my Swiss army knife. Yeah it was.
Speaker 4 (01:53:41):
It was, you know, different sides of the tracks, you
could say between those two guys, just the overheaded in
the same direction.
Speaker 3 (01:53:47):
I guess in some senses, I guess career wise, Kevin
Grant headed to the Hall of Fame with the championship
in bread.
Speaker 4 (01:53:54):
Okay, good, I didn't mean to go that far. Minnesota
did win that game seven over the Kings. The Seawet
had a three porter that went in and out and
people talk trash to me after.
Speaker 2 (01:54:04):
That, So that sounds familiar.
Speaker 3 (01:54:05):
See Web in a big game, Hey balls ro ramming out,
calling timeouts that don't exist, you know, things of that nature.
Speaker 4 (01:54:13):
Someone was telling him to call that time out. Didn't
you see the FAB five documentary thirty for thirty I did?
Speaker 2 (01:54:18):
How dare you? It's fn A on FSR.
Speaker 3 (01:54:20):
It's time for us to take a time out when
we come back on the other side.
Speaker 2 (01:54:23):
Two on, two off, two lines that are correct in
the NFL. This weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:54:28):
Two lines that are way off in the NFL. We'll
talk about that coming up next as we wrap things up.
The FNA on FSR, Fox Sports or i should say
Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 2 (01:54:37):
Stick around, So let's people say serve for FNA, Cottonna.
Speaker 4 (01:54:43):
It is FNA on FSR. Final segment here for you

Speaker 2 (01:55:15):
Here, all right, let's get to him Mark time now
for you don't know what you're talking about.
Speaker 5 (01:55:19):
Two on.
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
Two, Josh Outside, all right, four games in the NFL
this weekend. Two lines, two favorites that we like, two
underdogs that we like. You want to get us started
at him, So by my counting, Breeze, we both went
two and two last week. Yes, we're dead even now.
You know what I like to do.
Speaker 4 (01:55:42):
I give each of my cats two choices to pick
for favorites, because they will not pick and choose underdogs.
They don't like dogs for whatever reasons, for whatever reason.
So my cat Tuca took the Ravens minus twelve against
the Browns at home.
Speaker 3 (01:56:01):
Well, okay, I had eleven and a half, so I
got the the extra half point.
Speaker 4 (01:56:05):
Can I do eleven and a half instead of twelve?
Speaker 2 (01:56:08):
I got every line.
Speaker 3 (01:56:09):
I'm going off of bet MGM, which right now has
it at eleven and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:56:12):
Fine, eleven and a half. I'd prefer that. So then
if they get twelve, they win by twelve. I win, right,
Tuca wins?
Speaker 4 (01:56:18):
I mean, of course it's all two of course, yes,
and Shadow for her favorite pick, she is one pick.
The underdog took the Lions minus six and a half
over the Bears. What do you got for your favorites, Kevin?
Speaker 3 (01:56:32):
I actually agree with your cat the eleven and a
half over Cleveland. I think this is a redemption for
the Baltimore Ravens. I know Cleveland played well last week
against Cincinnati. I think that was a fluke. I think
Baltimore roles in this game. That's a lot of points
to lay in an NFL game. Eleven and a half,
twelve points. That's how confident I am that the Baltimore
Ravens are gonna roll all over the Cleveland Browns, I guarantee.
(01:56:55):
So that's one of my ONWNS. My other on is
the Chargers minus three and a half against the Raiders.
Good after by the Raiders in New England last week, obviously,
the Chargers had a phenomenal win justin Herbert big time.
Speaker 2 (01:57:04):
I don't know if I want to call it a
coming out party.
Speaker 3 (01:57:06):
We know how good he is, but really put it
on display against they're defending AFC champions.
Speaker 2 (01:57:10):
I do think, yes, this is BS. No, oh, you
think this is one of those reverse psychology things you're hedging.
I'm not saying you win either way. If the Raiders
beat them or cover, you're like, hey, I'm feeling good.
And if they don't, you at least met correctly.
Speaker 3 (01:57:23):
No, I want my record to be immaculate here on
two on to off. With all due respect at him,
I want to kick your ass when it comes to
these picks. Fair enough, so I want it so badly
that I'm willing to pick against my team for that purpose.
So this game will be close, but I do think
the Chargers end up winning by more than three. So
the three and a half's points spread, I'm going to
(01:57:44):
take the Chargers in this one.
Speaker 2 (01:57:45):
Lord knows I should have picked against the Panthers last
week instead of picking on them to cover as a dog.
You picked with your heart, No I didn't. My heart
is filled with hate for those pants. Feel the conflict
with then you let go of your hate. I'm not
picking him this week. Okay, my two picks for my
two offs off of the favorite. So I'm picking underdogs here.
Speaker 4 (01:58:07):
You know, while I have Buffalo going to the super Bowl,
they haven't fared well on the road in New Jersey,
as I mentioned earlier against the Jets. The last two years,
they're one and two. Josh Allen has struggled, and I.
Speaker 2 (01:58:18):
Was impressed with Justin Fields.
Speaker 4 (01:58:20):
I know you got him under the microscope, but he
looked pretty good against the Steelers defense that I think
is not always going to be giving up thirty points
in a ball game, and they're getting six points at
home against the Bills. I'm taking those points. I'm taking
the Jets plus six. They can keep it inside of
a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:58:40):
Okay, yeah, I can see that. That's not insane.
Speaker 4 (01:58:42):
But but you're taking something else, you're going somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (01:58:46):
I'm going somewhere else. I'm going to Tennessee. My off
the Rams. That's five and a half point favorites over Tennessee.
I talked about this a little bit earlier that this
could be a trap game for La. LA is the
better team.
Speaker 2 (01:58:56):
They know they're the better team, and they have the
Eagles on the horizon next week.
Speaker 3 (01:59:00):
He has trap game written all over it. I do
think the Rams will win, but five and a half
points is a little rich for me at them thinking
closer to a three point spread here.
Speaker 2 (01:59:08):
So I got that one as an off. I have the.
Speaker 4 (01:59:11):
Exact same call here, Kevin, I guarantee it. I also
am taking the Titans plus five and a half points.
You know they were getting eight last week against Denver.
They lost by eight.
Speaker 2 (01:59:27):
These boys and these handicappers know what they're doing.
Speaker 4 (01:59:29):
But I like them plus five and a half at home.
Maybe Calvin Ridley catches the football and helps out his
Rookie Quarterback Award.
Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
That would be nice. Veteran Cavin Ridley. He says, you
have something to prove this year. You got one more
dog here other off Kansas City plus one over the Eagles,
which essentially means his game is a pick them and
it should not be. Oh, because you tell me what's
different between Kansas City and the Philadelphia Eagles since the
Super Bowl earlier this year.
Speaker 5 (01:59:54):
Not much?
Speaker 8 (01:59:56):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:59:56):
The Kansas City Chiefs uh. Still can't stop the run,
which is what the Eagles do pretty well. And they
almost got worse against the pass, at least in that
first game against the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (02:00:05):
They did.
Speaker 3 (02:00:05):
And the Eagles defensive line, though they lost a couple
of pass rushers, can still get after it. So I
think the Eagles should be favored in this game. I
think the Eagles win this game. They should be favored
by three.
Speaker 2 (02:00:14):
On the road. They're getting a point. Yeah, the Kansas
City Chiefs are actually favored by a point right now. Wow,
good pick by you the odds.
Speaker 3 (02:00:22):
So that one is definitely an off. So that is
two on two off, and that is FNA on FSR
for this week. Thanks Debris, thanks to market, Thanks to
you guys for listening. Project nil coming up next here
on FSR
