Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
That is right FNA on FSR Fox Football Saturday. It
is Kevin Figures Adam Alsen with you guys. Thank you
for joining us as you do every single week. Hit
us up on x at KFIG one is where you
can find me, Adam. They can find you at follow
Adam A What's going on?

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Possibly at fna's show as well on Fox Sports Radio.
iHeartRadio Network. We have a good show for you this week.
I know that's mind blowing stuff coming from us.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
As opposed to the crappy shows we usually put on.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Of course, once in a while we got a stinker,
but it's been years and that's not going to happen
tonight because coming up later in this second hour, Greg
co Sale's gonna join us, also a Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Fame, one of my favorites.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
I love Greg NFL films on with Colin Cowherd all
the time. Honestly, I don't know how we got him.
I feel like I actually have to give credit to
Brewbery here, and that's not easy for me to do.
But great co Sale's a great get for us, and
he's gonna help us break down what is it we
fifteen of the NFL season.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, well, friends in high places with Brie. I mean,
come on, Bree's well connected in the industry, so I'm
not the least bit surprised.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
We got friends in places something.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yes, So it's a Greg Cosel this week and then
Tom Brady next week is what I'm expecting their Brie.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Oh for real, Okay, I'm good with that. Actually, I
think Tom Brady's been much better this season as an analyst.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
He really has improved.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
He's improved in every way. I honestly think he is
kissing being elite all like. He's right there. He's right there,
he'll be there by next year.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
And you know, he's fairly polarizing for some people who
think he might be overrated or whatever. One thing you
can never take away from Tom Brady is that he
was a hell of a hard worker. Anybody who's ever
around him knew that he was dedicated to his craft
and he was gonna be dedicated to being the best
analyst he could. So last year a little bit of
a struggle. This year leaps and bounds. To be honest
with you, it's been.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Remarkable, Okay, But I can take away four rings in
just four plays with him, Malcolm Butler, d Ford, Robert
Alford in the There's four Rings Gone, just like that,
plays that were outside of his control. But I'm not
a hater. That's not me.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
No, not in the least pit. That's not necessarily how
sports and professional football works either. Sometimes you need a
few breaks if you're gonna win that often you're gonna
get a couple of breaks go your way every now
and then too.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
So Kevin, what else do we got coming up later?

Speaker 5 (02:17):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Well, of course we have two on two off to
finish the show, our weekly picks. We also have the
NFL six Pack, like we do every single solitary week,
so plenty of stuff to get into there. I believe
we have a Stranger than fiction coming up at the
end of this hour as well.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Well, I believe you're wrong, Kevin House.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
Oh no, I'm never wrong. What are you talking about?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Now? This might be on Brie Now I'm throwing her
back under the bus here. No, she put it right.
It's geek news.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Okay, so I am wrong.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Here's a hint. There's a new video game movie that's
an old video game movie that released a teaser this week.
That's my teas and here's the sound.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Oh no, see when I said, oh my god out loud,
that's what I assumed it might be.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Why why are we doing this again?

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Look? We reviewed what was it? Anaconda? And that's the
comedy that's coming out this Christmas that nobody asks for.
And it's really weird that it's coming out on Christmas. Snakes,
but this is the video game movie we've kind of
been waiting for a reboot four Now. I don't know
if it's gonna end up being good, but we knew
they were going to do this at some point. We'll

(03:20):
get to it. That's later this hour in geek News.
Why don't we start with a little first off here, though, Kevin,
let's do it.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
There's time that's wrong.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Uh, oh, it's back.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
What are the headlines on the announcement of starting quarterback?

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Excuse me? What are the headlines on the starting quarterbacks? Ah?
What do you want to start with? Which starter?

Speaker 2 (03:44):
Well? The problem is I don't really know who's going
to be starting for Indianapolis against Seattle this coming weekend,
but all signs are kind of pointing into the direction
that it could be a certain forty four year old
quarterback who's been retired for the past five seasons, who's
been coaching in high school. I mean, yeah, he's ready
to go.

Speaker 6 (04:04):
Is he though, Is he really ready for what's coming? Well,
he says he is. He says he's excited. The head coach,
Shane Steiken, says he's excited. He's ready to go. I'd
say he looked like he put on a couple of
extra pounds. But you know, being retired for five years
of being in the ad mid forties, we do that
to you.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
I think we actually can hear from Philip Rivers defending
his weight as any of us would. I mean, nobody
wants to be asked about their weight like that. It
doesn't matter if you're a girl or a guy. Nowadays,
come on, that's personal stuff. You remember when we were
gonna have weigh in Mondays on FNA after a bad
weekend of eating out and drinking too much booze, we

(04:42):
were gonna do a weigh in every Monday. I'm glad
we scrapped that idea.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Well, yeah, because knew we end up just feeling guilty
and hating ourselves for it.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Our six hundred pound Monday show.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, why I subject ourselves to that, so the listeners
can have fun at our expense and just make fun
of us more so than they already do.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Well, they were trying to make fun of Philip Rivers
at his reintroductory press conference, asking him about his weight. Here,
what if you're playing Wait.

Speaker 7 (05:05):
What do you playing right now?

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Right this second? I'm not sure? Right?

Speaker 5 (05:13):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (05:14):
That's an honest answer, and I will answer your question
a little better. On the plane weight, Greg not not
what it was when I walked up the film Buffalo.
All right, I can tell you that.

Speaker 8 (05:24):
But but then I'll follow that up with I ain't
never ran away from anybody anyway. So so I'm they
you know, people say, well, they're gonna know you're gonna
be right there, and it's like, well they knew that
for sixteen seventeen years.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
So okay, I haven't had a chance to get a
hand on the Colts media guy for this week to
see exactly what is uh what he's tipping the scales at.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Well, those things are always accurate, Oh of.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Course, one hundred percent accurate. Well, look if they come
in and say that Philip Rivers is like, you know
two fifteen, I'm like.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
Let's be real.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
Do you want to know what old Google Gemini AI
says his weight is? When I put that into the
Google search, this will be you go ahead. Do you
want to guess here?

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Quiz hot shot?

Speaker 3 (06:02):
Well you just said two fifteen.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah, because I'm trying to think of what his initial
playing weight was. And he's a he's a tall guy.
He's not short, so I mean he's not.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Oh boy, he's a big enow. Yeah, he's a good
old boy.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
I'm assuming that Jem and I is gonna talk about
his listed weight from the last time that he played,
which was twenty twenty, because I don't know if they
have any accurate numbers to put in right now.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
I can't confirm whether or not that's the weight they're using,
or the weight on the back of his tops or
flear card. I don't know what they're going. I'll stay
two twenty all right, I'll pretty much give it to you.
It is to twenty.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Eight here total ownership, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
You own that. One to twenty eight is what they say.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Now.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
I saw his face, and I know carb face when
I see it, and I know a guy who's been
eating good this holiday season when I see it. That's
that's looking like two forty five to me, Kevin.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
I was gonna say, like two forty two is kind
of like because I saw his face and also saw
his midsection.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
Of all due respect to Philip Rivers, how could you
not see it and look? As a fan? Ask myself,
I can I can talk. I can say this these things.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
I know we all are a little chunky during the holidays,
the best of us here.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
Adams pretty spelt over there.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Well, I did get on the exercise bike twice today,
and yet I'm still probably not at a calorie deficit
because I had a cart and of ice cream two
hours ago because I knew it wouldn't be eating for
the next twelve hours. We got a long show to
get through.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
But I tell you find balance in the force. There, Adam,
two times on the on the elliptical machine or the bike,
and then you follow it up with a pint or
two of ice cream.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Yeah, why don't I just have more self control and
just not eat the ice cream so I wouldn't have
to go on the exercise bike in the first place.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Because that's no fun. Who the hell wants to do that?

Speaker 3 (07:40):
I'm better in this. I can't do better in them.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Oh no, you're not.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Okay, you're one of us.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
One of us.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Am I one of phil philip Rivers. Two of my
two or three Philip Rivers is right now that.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Wants to be a half a Philip Rivers.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
If somebody calls me to come in off the street
and play quarterback in the NFL after not playing for
five years, get to cash that check.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
Until you take that first hit, Kevin, I don't know.
I don't know. They're playing Seattle right in Seattle.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
One of the best defenses in the NFL, which still
kind of gets overlooked to a certain degree.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
As hard as that might be.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
In today's NFL, we know it's more of ans a
national game, and you see everything you see.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Sam Darnald's had a bit of a resurgence this season.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Still, for whatever reason, I feel like Seattle's flying under
the radar as one of the better teams in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
I think they can make the super Bowl as long
as Sam Darnald performs on the big stage. That's the
only thing missing right now. He hasn't had many chances. Okay,
we've discussed this. He went seven years without playing in
a big game after being on the Jets and the Panthers,
and then he got to Minnesota finally, And yes he
failed in big games at the end of last season,
but you gotta get more opportunities out there.

Speaker 9 (08:43):
Well.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Look, the biggest game he had this season was against
the Rams a few weeks ago, and they didn't go
too well for him.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
It went like the playoff game did last year against
the Rams pretty much.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Now he has the Rams coming up again on a
Thursday night pretty soon here, so that'd.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Be a nice in the division or something. What's going on,
I don't.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Know, so that'll be another big miss.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Tests for him.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
Well, a big test for Philip Rivers is if he
can lose ten pounds before now on Sunday, because he
may be running around a little bit. I know, he
says he wasn't much of a runner back in his
day regardless, but he may be running for his life
out there. I just it is one of the stranger
stories we've seen. It could have been a stranger than fiction.
Forty four year old quarterback comes back to the EDFL.

(09:22):
I just didn't expect it. But he is kind of
an old school gunslinger. Now that gun maybe like an
old Civil War musket and it backfires at times and
it needs to be sighted and it's well off. But
still he does love to throw around.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah, I mean, and look, he may he's lost a
little bit on his fastball, but that's all right. Even
his final season when people say that it's his skills
that diminishing, he wasn't as effective. He's still through for
four thousand yards and twenty five touchdowns with I think
ten or eleven interceptions. His numbers were effective. So the
issue is he's going to be facing here, Well, it's
twofold one. Jonathan Taylor has not been the same player.

(10:01):
It's not necessarily him, but just the Colts offensively have
just not been the same the last month of the season.
Of course, you found out about Daniel Jones having the
fractured leg he was playing on, and then you follow
that up with the achilles injury that happened last weekend.
So that didn't help that. So they're gonna load up
the box and try to stop Jonathan Taylor anyway and
try to force Philip Rivers to beat him.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
I don't think he's able to do that.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Like, as cool of a story as this seems, I'm
not gonna come out and be doing a gloom and
say I'm afraid that he might get hurt. But yeah,
this is a pretty potential dire situation. And by the way,
like all dree respect to Philip Rivers, and I know
he had a relationship with Shane Steiken back to their
days with the Chargers here in LA and San Diego,
but they can't find anybody else.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Are you caping for Cam Newton because he's done plenty
of that himself already.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
No, no, please, By the way, do we have sound
mark of Cam Newton and his campaign and him being
upset that he didn't get the call over Philip Rivers.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
I think we do. He's been doing a lot of
talking as of late, so he must stop something. Mark
Indy if they call, Yeah, you know, this almost like
a slap in my face. But all the things that
you're doing in media, do you come off like you're available.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
He's retired.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
You ain't even retired.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
I did not and will not because of an opportunity
like that. He's always in a system.

Speaker 10 (11:18):
But still like I don't give a damn if he
was in a family. He's forty four years old. Brot
d cure. The whole Cam Newton to a standard that
you're not holding everybody else. But I know when it
comes with me the personality, bro folks don't want to
should do a situation they don't want to do.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
They don't want a circus.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Why he sounding more like Chris Tucker there. I thought
he was about to say, I don't I.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Sounded let the spirit of truth there for a SoundBite
that we have on a machine that we can't play
on the air.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
That's what it sounded like to me as I tried
to search it for a second before you reminded me
that all.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Due respect to your book, to your former Carolina Panther,
great Cam Newton there at him?

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Oh yeah, he was great till the Super Bowl and
wouldn't jump on that fumble.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
It's not as if his last couple of years were
great by any stretch of the imagination. Who do you
play for? Kevin know who he played for? Well, he
ended his career with the Carolina Panthers. I don't know
if you remember that or not.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
He came back at one point.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
He did come back at the end of his career.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
I remember Julius Pepper's coming back that was welcomed. Cam
Newton was not.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
He had a very forgettable year with the New England
Patriots and then came back and had his final season
a part of a season, i should say, with the
Carolina Panthers, and his numbers were not great. So look,
I'm not saying that they should go out and sign,
you know, just anybody, and I'm not saying Cam Newton
is just anybody. But yes, you are a bit of
a distraction because you know, you l like to get
you Europeans out there, and you're a little bit of flamboyant.

(12:37):
And with all due respect for a guy we're talking about,
Philip Rivers has in place since twenty twenty. Cam Newton
in places twenty twenty one, so it's not like is
that far off. He wasn't very productive the last time
he did play, and with all due respect to him,
you draw a lot of attention to yourself for a
guy that's not necessarily a marquee player. I don't know
if I need that sort of distraction in my locker

(12:58):
room for a guy that I'm just looking to be
a bit of a caretaker at this point.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Well, he may be eight years younger, but he obviously
relied more on his legs than Philip Rivers ever needed to.
So Philip Rivers is right back playing in the pocket
where he should be, and Cam Newton can't move around
the way he used to. We saw that at the end.
I the way that just the SoundBite there is so

(13:21):
super produced, even that is going to rub some people
the wrong way, like our his postgame press conference is
going to be cut up like tiktoks like that as well,
like each and every one he mentioned, Shaduur Sanders, nobody
wants that situation. He's almost like, yeah, I could be
probably probably a little bit of a problem for some
Like this may not go well, Like he's understanding of

(13:42):
why they wouldn't want him by just the way he
was talking about it there, and he's become such a
big media personality. More power to him, But how could
it not lead to some distraction?

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Yeah, well, look, the unique part of this is what
I mentioned a second ago, is like the only reason
they brought in Philip Rivers specifically is because of his
relationship with shane'st I can reportedly he runs the exact
same offense with his high school team that Shane Styken
runs with the Colts, which I.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
Find to be a little unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
I mean, I know the size of an NFL playbook
versus a high school playbook, and that's also coaching versus playing,
which Philip knows are two completely different things. So sure
there's some synergy there, I guess, but there's just a
familiarity factor. And this happens a professional sports, this just
happens in business in general. You surround yourself with people
that you're comfortable with, that you know how you operate,
you know exactly he knows the ins and outs of

(14:29):
the offense, audibles, all that stuff. The learning curve is
going to be a lot shorter for him then, even
if you were to bring him like a younger guy
who doesn't have a lot of experience that you had
on the practice squad earlier in the season. So I
do understand that part. You're just losing a lot from
a physical standpoint. From the neck up, Philip rivers, it
will be as phenomenal as anybody. I just wonder how
much he has left in his body and how effective

(14:49):
he can be, especially when you're getting your sea legs
under you against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
The problem is from the neck up. That's still like
one hundred pounds just right there. I'm sorry he's looking Veig,
He's been eating good.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
He shut We'll tired. Adam.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Yeah, first year labor. You could be in the Hall
of Fame. He probably will be eventually here, but now
he's set back that retirement time another five years because
he's playing again. It's it's a surprising, shocking story. But
I will be watching. If you have what is it called,
it's not red zone, where you can organize the YouTube

(15:26):
to which games you want in the closet box, the
multi volume yeah, the multiview quad box, that will be
a game I will have on be watching intently. If
he's under center for the Indianapolis Colts, who were trying
not to give up on this season just because they
lost uh Daniel Jones, Like this was the story the
first month and a half of the year. This was

(15:48):
one of the bigger stories in sports, the redemption story
with Daniel Jones. And then we were talking about are
they gonna break the two thousand and four Colts record.
When it came to scoring points, I think they were
like at thirty two points per game or something like that.
They were on pace to have a historic season offensively,
and it all fell apart in the last month or

(16:10):
so when you saw the regression. But then we found
out the injuries going on behind the scenes too, and
unfortunately now of course the Achilles injury to Daniel Jones,
who I love and I hope he comes back healthy.
I hope we would really be sad here is if
you had that little glimpse of what he could be,
which was an MVP candidate, and now it could be

(16:32):
gone forever. He may never be the same coming off
an Achilles. That's the truth of it.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
Yeah, especially as a quarterback who relies on his athleticism.
He wasn't a drop back guy that's just gonna pick
you apart from the pocket. His athleticism is a big
part of the kind why he's had such a turnaround
and played as well as he's played here in Indianapolis.
And now he's going to be out for I'm with
an Achilles. You're talking about what an eight to twelve
month recovery period, So he's basically gonna miss all of
next season.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
He's a free agent, so I really don't know what
the future is gonna hold for him.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
So it's really unfortunate to see a guy who'd been
through a lot, who was able to turn his career
around to a certain degree have some success. Now, the
problem was how sustained was it? Yeah, you know, he
wasn't able to do it for even a full season.
We're talking about a little more than half a season.
So did he turn a corner? How much was the
fractured leg that he was playing on hampering him as

(17:22):
far as his performance in the second half of the season,
or did teams just kind of figure him out a
little bit?

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Or was it a combination of both.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
I think they were gonna take a little bit of
a step back because they were so good offensively. You
get a little bit more tape and film on them,
you can scheme them up a little bit better. But
I think it was also legit because he has shown
us that in flashes with the Giants, even had a
really good playoff game with them, and the confidence was
at an all time high. He had the weapons, he

(17:49):
had the running back. It was all going in the
right direction for them. Can I give you an NBA
comp to what happened to Daniel Jones here?

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Quiz?

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Because I can't help myself. I don't know why I
keep coming up with these NBA analogies whenever something like
this happens. Yeah, FNNBA is back here on f and
An on Fox Boards Radio. It's a little bit like
a little bit like DeMarcus Cousins. We got about a
month of a flash of just how good he could
be next to Anthony Davis in New Orleans, and then

(18:20):
he tore his achilles, right, I mean they were on
a tear before he unfortunately tore his achilles. They I
think they had won like eleven or fourteen or something
like that, and we never got to see that player again.
Now that's basketball. You got to use more of your
athleticism out there. But as you mentioned, Daniel Jones is
somebody that can navigate the pocket very well and roll out.
So I hope he can recover boom.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Yeah, I certainly hope for the best for him that
he can recover and find a way to revitalize his career,
whether it's with the Colts or potentially somewhere else. Moving forward,
we'll have to see every goal starts with an assist
on and off the field. That's why Helen and US
Soccer are launching for the Assist a celebration of everyday
acts of support that help people achieve their goals with
iconic brands like Censoni, Tom's Voltaireanatville, and Sentrum. To learn more,

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Coming up next, well, the other end of the spectrum,
a young quarterback who's considering retirement. It feels like from
the statement that he just made the other day, also shocking.
We'll talk about it here.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
It is FNA on FSR coming up next hour we
will begin the NFL six pack. We'll also speak to
Grant co Cell, the Grand Poo Bad NFL Films will
break it down for us and let us know what's
going on as far as who's performing and who's not.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
But as far as the quarterbacks go.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Last segment there, Adam, we talked about Philip Rivers, at
the age of forty four, looking likely to make his
first start since twenty twenty back with Indianapolis coach despite
being there for a little bit less than a week.
Can we talk about a guy who has been in
the league for the last actually five years now that
I think of it, I think that was his rookie
season with the Cincinnati Bengals, will be Joe Burrow.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
And this guy's looking good. He hasn't gained a pound
since he's been out with injury for what six weeks
or whatever it was before he came back and beat
the Ravens on Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Well, the interesting thing about Joe Burrow here too is
you know, we talk about, you know, injuries, and Philip
Rivers is one of the most durable players throughout his
entire career, almost never missed games played were in acl Yeah,
well that's where the nickname for Charlie Whitehurst clipboard Jesus,
came from, because there was thought that Charlie white Whitehurst
was talented enough to go other places and maybe compete

(21:13):
as a lower level starter for you know, another NFL
job somewhere. But it's like I got the cushiest job ever.
Philip Rivers never gets hurt. So let me sit here,
collect my one and a half or one point seven
two point seven whatever it is, million dollars a year
for ten years, and I'm good.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
Hold on, hold on Chase Daniels all Ski Mass team
Chase Daniel. Chase Daniel made like forty million dollars. And
how many starts did he have? Five?

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Six?

Speaker 4 (21:40):
That many?

Speaker 3 (21:41):
He made so much money. I don't know why breathed
shaking her ahead at me. Was he a saint? At
one point? Is that it think he was? Actually that's
the only reason. Did he how do you play?

Speaker 9 (21:50):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (21:50):
He did? Did he play? He did?

Speaker 3 (21:52):
That's the point.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Well, I think Doug Peterson, former head coach of the Eagles,
Super Bowl champion, head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and
ex of the Jacksonville Jaguars, basically a career backup behind
Brett Farva's entire career.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Okay, so same situation.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
So you have guys who are career backups who you know,
find to find a way to carve out on their
niche there.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Maybe Matt Flynn while he wanted to play, Yes, he
got paid to play and then got beat out by
Russell Wilson. He ended up doing pretty well too, money wise,
considering cash versus actual games played out there. But I'm
sorry we're getting on tangent.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Yeah, talking about Joe Burrow made his return to the
Cincinnati Bengals a couple of weeks ago, looked great on
Thanksgiving Night, and then obviously looked a pretty damn good
last week against Buffalo. Unfortunately, the defense well, look, he
had a couple of untimely interceptions at the end in
that fourth quarter, which didn't necessarily help the cause. But
their defense is pretty much did last in the NFL

(22:46):
and every meaningful statistic which certainly doesn't help their cause.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
Well, I brought this up right after he got hurt,
and I made this comparison, and now many are making
this comparison. I'm not saying I'm a trendsetter. I'm not
saying I'm a trailblazer, but I did have this right
after he got hurt. It's him and Andrew Luck. There
are real comparisons between those two. You look at percentage

(23:11):
of snaps the defender made contact with them a defender
out there twenty one percent of snaps with Andrew Luck,
twenty percent of snaps with Joe Burrow. Luck was under
pressure twenty eight percent of the time, Burrow twenty seven percent.
Andrew Luck was sacked one hundred and seventy four times
in his career. Burrow's at two h three while playing

(23:35):
thirteen less games than Andrew Luck. He's actually had it worse,
and he's had some real serious injuries. And I've called
it mismanagement or coaching malpractice or yeah. I don't know
if it's the GM or it's the owner there in Sincy,
but they got real issues not protecting one of the
best quarterbacks we've seen in the last twenty five years,

(23:58):
just like Andrew Luck.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Well, the GM is the owner. Basically at this point
in Timmy, it's a family run organization. They say they're
not highly capitalized. There is not a such thing as
the NFL franchise that isn't highly capitalize. Every single team
makes four hundred I saw this last year. Four hundred
and thirty three million dollars is what every single individual
team got from the media rights deal.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Hey that money, tell me that wasn't money.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Oh yeah, that's real money. That's from the revenue share.
So that is before anything that you make on local
deals from the preseason or concessions or turnstyle or a
merchandise or anything else. Four hundred and thirty three million
dollars in your pocket.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Well, and it's not like Bengals fans aren't loyal. They're
coming through the turnstiles. They're putting their money in. They've
seen all kinds of stuff with this team, and they're
still spending money on them. What's the issue.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
I mean, Joe Burrow has been the Comeback Player of
the Year twice. That's hard to do twice and you've
only been in the league for six years. That's a
sick joke. That's embarrassing.

Speaker 3 (24:59):
Sen It's that's what you need to know for.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
The Bengals organization to put And this is the second
time they've been in this situation. It wasn't that long ago.
That Carson Palmer basically told him trade me or I'm retiring,
and sure enough they called his bluff and he did it.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
He missed, he sat out an entire year, so they
traded him away to the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
He was like, I'm done with you guys being cheap,
not protecting me, not surrounding me with enough talent to
be able to give me an opportunity to win games
and championships. I don't want to be here anymore.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
I think John Kitna tried that too, and they said, whatever,
we'll call your bluff. We don't care. But here was
some audio from Joe Burrow earlier this week, and he's
sounding as indifferent about playing as anyone right now. It
is a difficult time in Sinsey.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
I don want to keep doing this. I have to
have fun doing it, you know. I've been through a lot,
and if it's not fun, then what am I doing
it for?

Speaker 3 (25:54):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
Everybody else needs to be said, all right, I mean,
and that thing.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
You probably have known people like this who if they
follow their passion or their ambition or whatever it is,
and at a certain point, like your passion just gets
sucked out of you. Your love for it gets sucked
at for whatever reason, you're not getting the breaks, or
you know, there's certain obstacles that come into your way,
or sometimes you're doing everything right and there's other people
who are just holding you back, that are not allowing
you to grow. And I think Joe Burrow kind of

(26:22):
finds himself in that situation now, is like, this game
is not even fun at this point in time because
I don't know if I'm gonna get hurt every single
time that I drop back there to pass where we're
losing games, I plan to the best of my abilities
on a weekend week out basis. I missed two months,
I came back, have been on fire, and we still
can't win.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
I mean, the Bengals offensive line is a kill joy.
That's their nickname right now. The defense is a kill joy.
They are sucking the life out of one of the
best quarterbacks we've seen.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
And I know that's not sexual.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
Hey, I'm just saying, this is somebody who looked like
he was on fire to play again when we heard
from him pre game on Thanksgiving, right before he took
down the Baltimore Ravens. I'm doing it for the love
of the game. Out here, you know, we get paid
to play a kid's game, and then he realized why

(27:13):
they get paid so much again because he's getting knocked
on his ass. And guys I think are more front
of mind with post playing career now than ever. And
it's a good thing. It's a good thing. Like guys
in the NBA talk about it all the time. I
want to be able to play with my kids. We've
seen all the CTE stuff with the NFL, and that's

(27:35):
part of the reason that Andrew Luck got out, and
I don't blame anybody that does. Luke Keigley did the
same thing. Well, I have no issue with that.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
Well, Andrew Luck played for a franchise that was competitive.
They were good. I mean they were I wouldn't say
they were on top of the world, but they certainly
were a competitive team at the time that he decided
to step away. Like the issue for Joe Burrow is
like again, he has Chase, he has against he has
weapons offensively, and I would give the Bengals credit for
locking those guys up. And even look, I look at
the NFL's salary cap, but they're kind of middle of

(28:04):
the pack right now when it comes to how much
money they're spending from a salary cap standpoint, so they're
not necessarily being bottom feeders. They have invested a little
bit into the roster. They just haven't done it extremely well,
to be honest with you, at the most important positions
upfront on the offensive line, upfront, on the defensive line,
which is where the best teams usually built their foundation.
And if you're going to have a star quarterback like that,

(28:26):
you have to prioritize being able to keep the guy healthy.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
And they haven't been able to do that.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
So if you're a Joe Burrow and if there's talk
or speculation that you might be looking into retirement or
possibly asking for a trade, how could you blame him?
Because look, the ultimate goal when you come to play
is obviously to be able to compete and win championships.
It's like, all right, everybody can't win a championship every
single year. We know that I at least want to
make sure that I'm in the hunt. If I'm not
in the hunt, I want to make sure that you

(28:51):
have the right guys around me that can at least
help pull me across the finish line. And he doesn't
have that support, he's not going to throw his teammates
under the bus. But I think he knows that's the case.
He knows I have to go out and score forty
every single week and that still might not be enough.
That's a defeating that's a very defeating position to be
in if you're a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Yeah, it's demoralizing for him. The offense. You know, Jamar
Chase before he came back, obviously wasn't feeling great about
the situation. Maybe they went too far with signing both
his receivers to big money, because you look at it
like this, Joe Burrow is so good. He elevates guys

(29:29):
around him, and once you pay the quarterback, which they have,
it becomes really hard to supplement in certain areas and
build a more complete roster out there. Like we used
to talk about this with Russell Wilson, Like, hey, the
seahawktion in a great position now because they don't have
to pay him yet and they've already won a Super Bowl.
But once you do, you're going to lose some of

(29:51):
those good defensive guys out there. You're gonna lose some
of the weapons on the outside. Well, what you hope
is your quarterback is so good that he can take
a go that's maybe a number three wide receiver and
make him a number two out there because he's so
damn talented. Maybe it was over kill paying both the receivers.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
I and this is something I've subscribed to. I've made
this argument.

Speaker 4 (30:11):
Now.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
Granted, Dak Prescott is a very good quarterback, He's nowhere
near the level of Joe Burrow, so it's a little
bit different, and they're making they're both making stupid amounts
of money at starting quarterbacks. But this is where I
talk about whether when you talk about extending George Pickens,
so you're gonna commit that much money to George Pickens
and Cdee Lamb and Dak Prescott knowing you have other
holes to fill. I said this when they signed to

(30:32):
Higgans this offseason. It's like, look, he's important, he's a
great player. You need to fortify other parts of your team,
most notably your defense. You just take the money as
you're gonna allocate the T Higgins. Look, Joe Burrow was
so great, Jamar Chase is so great. I'm not gonna
say you could put anybody at number two and in
the slot, but you could put most slightly average receivers.
Because you have such a great quarterback and such a

(30:54):
great receiver on the other side, it's gonna open things
up for those guys. I don't need to have two
highly paid receivers and a highly paid quarterback on the
same roster. It's just really hard to build a competitive
team when you're built that way. So I always thought
that them extending Higgins was a bit of a mistake,
and I think it's even more glaring now just considering
how horrible their defense has been.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
Well, and it's not just Joe Burrow that can make
guys around him better. When you have Jamar Chase out there,
he makes guys better. Remember when Pearlis price was it.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Yeah, peerless price? When he played next to Eric Molds
in Buffalo, Yes.

Speaker 3 (31:25):
Eric Molds made him look like maybe he could be
a number one wide receiver out there. He was that good.
He goes to Atlanta, No, no, no, no, that was a
reality check. But Jamar Chase can do that with guys
across from him too, or on the other side of
the field. He's that good. I wonder if at some
point they make a trade, they have to do something

(31:45):
because another analogy or parallel and they're all apt with
him and Andrew Luck right now, they're the exact same age.
He's twenty nine, just like Andrew Luck was when he retired.
And Joe Burrow's been to a Super Bowl. He knows
what it takes, multiple AFC Championship games. He is a
proven winner and one of the best guys who continues
to come back from some really difficult injuries to put

(32:08):
his body on the line. But you start to lose
the joy of the game out there, or you start
to think the risk isn't worth the reward, because what's
the reward, Like we're going nine to eight at best,
that that's not good enough. You're not a contender, So
why am I putting my body on the line like this?
They have to prove to him that they are committed
to winning at the highest level if he's going to

(32:30):
line up under center and take the abuse.

Speaker 4 (32:32):
Well, and I'm.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Sure from Mike Brown the ownership, they're gonna say, we've
already proven to you. We've paid you a lot of money,
we've locked up to your receivers, and more do you
want from us? It's like to say, like we said,
we want you to put a competitive roster on the field.
How about you some resources independent of the salary cap.
How about having a real scouting staff, which they don't.
They're assistant coaches unless something has changed over the last
couple of seasons. But I believe it's true there are

(32:54):
assistant coaches. Are the ones that do college scouting for them,
like they're defensive line coach to scouts the defensive line
for the college teams coming up for the draft. You're
spreading your guys really really thin.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
They sound like the Lakers in like the earlier late
two thousands, you know, where their scouting department and everything
was behind and they weren't using the analytics. They were
doing stuff on the cheap like that, and it's a
bad look. Now we should probably mention that Joe Burrow
was also campaigning for them to pay his wide receivers

(33:26):
and it was going to bat for them. Yes, now
you can say that's not his job and they need
to make those decisions out there, but he can't be
like and he didn't say it explicitly. You know, why
are we paying all these guys and not getting me
help on the offensive line or not helping out the
defense when he was the one asking for his wide
receivers to get paid. So there is you know, there's
got to be some understanding there.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
But still, yeah, well and look, he's not the one
necessarily saying, don't you know, don't give me all the
weapons of the world. I'm sure he wants them on
top of the fact that I'm sure he wants protection.
But as the general manager of the owner, you say, hey, man,
we're trying to do the best thing to serve the
franchise as a whole. The best thing that start of
franchise is to make sure we as we're as well
rounded o our organization as a team on the field
as we possibly can be. Maybe we shouldn't pay to Higgins.

(34:08):
Maybe we should pray Hendrickson and take some more money
and pay somebody else on the defensive line and he
gets some help on that front as supposed to getting
you more weapons like that would be probably the best
way to go about it. One thing I don't want
to see just selfishly. I want him to do what's
best for him obviously. I want him to be in
a good mental space, in a good physical space for
his future. I want to see the guy play like
he's such a fun guy to watch. He's He's one

(34:29):
of the best quarterbacks in the NFL easily when he's
out there. That game last week between the Bills and
the Bengals is one of the best games I've seen
this season. It was so entertaining to watch, and it
was mainly because of those two quarterbacks out there. And
now I hate to see Joe Burrow hang it up
because of the incompetence of the organization that he plays for.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
They're robbing all of us. We're not even Bengals fans.
We just want to see greatness out there. Please. Speaking
of greatness coming up next, well, there haven't been many
great video games turned into movies over the years. This
could be the one, Kevin, I'm telling you, we just
got the teaser for it. We'll talk about it coming
up in Geek News. Here on f and A, on FSR.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Alarmed, here FNA Cotton.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
Every goal starts with an assist on and off the field.
That's why Heleyan and US Soccer are launching for the Assist,
a celebration of everyday acts of support that help people
achieve their goals. With iconic brands like Cincinnai Toms, the
Voltaian I always mess up full Terran, Adam, Yeah, a
lot more go to hele onassists dot com.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Volterran is what it is and this is f and
A on.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
FSR Fox Football Saturday with Kevin Figures and Adam Austin.
I always talk about the socials. You guys can hit
us up before we get to geek news. Here in
a second, Eloy from Compton. I don't think we've heard
from you for the last couple of weeks. I wonder why.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
I'm here at crickets every time I think about him
right now, but.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
No big kannessity Chiefs fan, he says, what's up? Fella's
great show? Is always no comment for tonight, just sitting
back and enjoying the show.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
That's probably the right thing to do.

Speaker 4 (36:00):
Thank you, Uh Gunnard Thomas.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
How about the Panthers taking over the NFC South even
without playing let's go, I'll have something on them coming
up in the NFL six pack coming up next our.

Speaker 3 (36:11):
Oh you think I won't, all right?

Speaker 2 (36:14):
But right now.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
Facts m hmmm, sounds gonna have nice things.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Man, say you start gloating about the Panthers, Adham, and
that's what happens.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
You know what.

Speaker 3 (36:27):
Handled it on her end. It's geek news. It's a
video game fact of the week for you here, what's
up now? So, over the years, we've had some regrettable
video game movies where the game to film translation didn't
end up pleasing the fans. It was made for most
of them that like that. You're right, especially in the nineties.

(36:49):
Remember Double Dragon was Brothers, the original Mario Brothers. I
didn't have that on here, like I was horrible. I
remember having a birthday and renting Double Dragon. Now. Luckily
we also rented In the Army Now with Polly Shore
and that kind of cleansed the palette after that terrible movie.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
That saved it.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
But it's just crazy how they can make something that
bad when all we wanted was like a guy getting
kicked in the nuts his kids, Like, you could have
done that for ninety minutes and that would have entertained us.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
It's not that hard. No, Mortal Kombat saved the day
on that.

Speaker 3 (37:24):
Okay, the original Mortal Kombat movie from nineteen ninety five, yes,
quality you want to patient. Yeah, there was a lot
of fighting in it that was very good, especially for
its time, But not all movies have ended up that good.
From the video game genre. Remember Street Fighter, the Legend

(37:44):
of Chun Lee with Kristen Kirk. I think is her
name from Smallville.

Speaker 4 (37:49):
The Smallville Woman. Yeah, I never saw it.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
I knew a woman, beautiful woman, good casting. Didn't see
the movie, didn't hear much about it. Then you're talking
about that that came out in the early two thousands.
There was a sequel as well. Some called it boob Raider.
We did not whatever you want to call it. Angelina
and Joe Lee, she did. She did show off a
little bit, and that was like the appeal of the

(38:12):
entire movie. They got Angelina Joe Lee to play tomb Raider. Now,
Jake Gillenhall, he had some pretty hard pecks in Prince
of Persia. Now, I never saw that that was a
video game.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
I had no idea Prince of Persia had a movie
made after it.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
Grand Tarismo got a movie, Neat for Speed Warcraft, there
was a tech In movie. Didn't hear great things about
any of those, but the New Mario movie. People talked
highly of that, the New Icenic movies. You liked it.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
I did.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
And now dropping in like t Hawk with the elbow drop,
we're getting a new Street Fighter movie. I don't know
if Van dam is going to be in this one,
because they got a whole slew of actors here, Kevin,
and they took some liberties. You want me to give
you some of the people that are going to be
playing our favorite characters here, Yeah, let's go. So they

(39:03):
got I mean, Eric andre is playing this guy Souvage.
Jason Momo is playing Blanca. Fifty cent is Ballrock, Andrew Schultz,
the comedian, plays some guy named Don Hibiki. Cody Rhodes
is Gile Sonic Boom. That UFC fighter Alex.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
Good shape.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
I mean Gile was supposed to be swollen, giant pecks
and biceps.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
The fighter Alex Volk is playing somebody named Joe. They
got a fitness influencer who's playing Zang Geef, a country
music singer. Orville Peck playing Vega, which I guess means
Vega was a guy. The question, I would prefer some
actual actors. Yeah, I know some of these people have

(39:55):
the look, but do you have the acting chops? The
costume design people can take care of the look. I
need actors. I'm disappointed because the teasers forty five seconds
and it looks like It's all about cameos, just like
Happy Gilmore two US more fn A on FSR coming up.

Speaker 1 (40:13):
Next, don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
That is right hour two of F and A on FSR.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
Here on Fox Football Saturday, Kevin Figures, Adam Alson hit
us up on x at KFIG one and at follow
Adam A coming up in about twenty minutes or so,
will be joined by Greg co Sell, co host here
of Fox Sports Sunday with Mike Harmon. Also the guru
at NFL Films breaks down all the film watches, all
the guys who are playing well, the guys who are not.

(40:41):
He will enlighten us, mostly me, who thinks he knows
what he's talking about. I know Greg knows what he's
talking about, so I'm excited to talk to him. Coming
up here a little bit later this.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
Hour, we'll talk about college football in the second hour
a little bit plus two on two off. I should
say that's the third hour, but the hour after this
one is what I was referring to. But first we
got to get to the pros. Here mark.

Speaker 1 (41:04):
Time for the NFL six pack.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
Six categories on the NFL for you guys, alcohol themed
because that's the only way we could do it here.

Speaker 4 (41:18):
That's the only way you can do it. But that's
where we've that's what we've chosen.

Speaker 3 (41:21):
It was breeze idea. I don't know that's right. Let's
start with.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
This mark hot seat heat check.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
All right, Kevin, who do you got? Who's on the
hot seat? How are you feeling about your Raiders? I
don't know what are you going with.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
I'll get to the Raiders coming up a little bit later.
Trust me, it's gonna have a lot less to do
with them and more to do with their opponent this
coming weekend. From a hot seat heat check, I'm gonna
go a little bit off the beaten path to a degree.
I'm gonna say it's Lamar Jackson, not the Baltimore Ravens
as the team, but Lamar Jackson individually, because it might
sound odd to say this. This game is not only
big for them, but it's huge for him. There are

(41:56):
a lot of team executives and scouts and I do
want to ask greco So about this too when we
talk to him next segment. They've shined a spotlight on
the performance of Lamar Jackson this year, and camps are
really split as to whether it's all due to just
current injury management or if he's actually in physical decline
right now. I do want to acknowledge there's a difference
between a guy who's dingmed up this season and just

(42:17):
trying to manage his way through a bunch of injuries
and the guys whose history of injuries has affected him
so much that he's never going to be the player
that he once was now. I don't know if we'll
find that answer out until the offseason. Will Lamar can
rest up, get well, come back healthy again next year.
But I do think it's worth asking the question of
whether or not his best days could potentially be behind him.

(42:39):
Signed a five year contract in twenty twenty three, so
he has two years left on his deal and a
massive cap hit attached to it seventy five and a
half million dollars for twenty six and twenty seven. So
it begs the question what exactly is his future in Baltimore,
because I don't know if it's going to foregone conclusion
that he's going to actually end his career there. At
the start of the year at him, remember there were

(43:00):
one to four I got off to that horrible start
but offensively, they were putting up numbers. He completed over
seventy percent of his passes, ten touchdowns, one interception. He
gets hurt, misses three games, plays pretty well against the
Dolphins on that Thursday night, and then since then it's
been a total disaster in the five games since that
Miami victory, completing about fifty five percent of his passes,

(43:21):
just two touchdowns and four interceptions, one rushing touchdown, which
he had last week against Pittsburgh. His best rushing output
was last week against the Steelers as well, with forty
three yards on the ground. That's a shell of what
he used to be. The sort of numbers he was
routinely putting up when he was running for over one
thousand yards a season. It was routine for him the
first four years of his career. So, look, you can

(43:42):
weather the storm of a guy missing a handful of
games every single season if you know that when he plays,
he's one of the most dynamic and dangerous.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
Players in the league.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
But if his performance is not going to be up
to snuff when he does play, Andy's injury prone, that's
just a bad investment for you as a franchise. So
I think the best thing for the Races right now
for their books, at least restructure his contract in the offseason,
open up some cap space, kick the can down the road,
and hopefully he can return to form another option. I
think it's less likely at this point in time because

(44:12):
he's earned the right to be able to have a
bad season and bounce back from it.

Speaker 4 (44:16):
You could potentially talk.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
About trading him away the old argument of you know
you want to cut bait on the guy a year
early before a year too early, rather than a year
too late, because even with his injury history, there's plenty
of teams who will take a flyer on him and
hopes that he would stay healthy and would pay him
a lot of money just in hopes that he returns
to form. You mentioned the Raiders a second ago. They
definitely be one of them by all means. So look,

(44:38):
I'll say this, whether they make the playoffs or not,
we need to watch closely at how he continues to
perform down the stretch of the season. If he has
an uptick in the way that he plays against a
bad Bengals defense coming up on Sunday and at least
show some flashes, maybe against the Patriots Packers and Steelers.
It'll make the Ravens feel a lot better about themselves
than the decision to stick with him long term. So

(44:58):
I'm just really fascinated how his contract situation situation will
be handled once the season ends, and he can do
a lot to help himself on that front here in
these final four weeks of the season.

Speaker 4 (45:07):
Based on how he performs, he.

Speaker 3 (45:09):
Lamar prove Joe Burrow right that his defense sucks. Yeah,
do something this time against that.

Speaker 4 (45:15):
That magic elixir.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
That's a get right game for your off for your
offense playing against the Bengals defense.

Speaker 3 (45:20):
All right, my hot seat heat check here for me. Yeah,
it's steal my Panthers fandom. That's been on the hot
seat as it always is, because when you have an
owner this erratic, that is willing to throw a drink
in a fan's face, all bets are off.

Speaker 2 (45:36):
For the realized that your middle name was Ellis Fairweather
Adam Fairweather Osland. I didn't realize that was the.

Speaker 3 (45:42):
Here's the thing, Kevin, it's actually Steven. But I deserve
to come and go as I please without fair Weather repercussions.
It's okay to be a wishy, washy fan. If your
owner is the mad king from Game of Thrones and
it's trying to burn down his own kingdom or an
organization in this case. I remember a buddy of mine

(46:02):
actually once said this about the Raiders, who he was
a fan of. When he was jumping in and out
of being a fan with them. He said to me,
I didn't turn my back on the Raiders. They turned
their back on me because they were so dysfunctional in
a mess towards the end of Al Davis's time. Well,
I'd rather have that version of Al Davis that fired

(46:24):
Lane Kiffen with an overhead projector be the owner of
the Panthers than Jeffrey Tepper. He's King Jeffrey or Jeoffrey,
and I know he likes pies too. Okay, too many
fat jokes going on, but I look, I don't think
anyone should poison this pie. That's not what I'm saying,
like King Jeoffrey or anything. But for me, if it's
between eating that pigeon pie or watching another Panthers lost

(46:46):
to the Saints where I'll have to eat crow with Breebrey,
I might prefer the poison.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
This is it's gonna be eating some Bignets and some
pole boys. Nah, he's gonna be dancing all over the Panthers'
graves they get a victory this weekend.

Speaker 3 (47:00):
Look, you can do a lot of things to me, Panthers,
but if you lose to the Saints twice in one
year for the first time since checks notes twenty twenty three,
I'm out.

Speaker 2 (47:12):
Drew Brees still playing in twenty twenty three seems like
he was.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
Maybe he's coming out of retirement next. I will not
abide another loss to the Saints. I don't care what
they won last week over the Bucks, helping my Panthers
have a chance to win the NFC South, and now
the Bucks lose again on Thursday night, Panthers are in
the lead. Losses to the Saints will not be tolerated,
especially with the playoffs in sight. The Panthers haven't made

(47:38):
the playoffs since twenty seventeen, where we lost to you
guessed it, the Saints in a season where we lost
to them three times, the hat trick of death. Those
were definitely not my Panthers. But if this year's squad
wants to be they better not lose on Sunday in
New Orleans. Brie you're in trouble. On Sunday, revenge will

(47:59):
be mine. Okay, you had the best weekend ever where
the Suns beat the Clippers and the Saints beat the Panthers.

Speaker 2 (48:06):
That's over well, who doesn't beat the Clippers?

Speaker 3 (48:08):
Hey, all right, I'm believing. What do you got?

Speaker 11 (48:14):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (48:14):
Mark? What's up next?

Speaker 1 (48:15):
Trap game? Tap?

Speaker 2 (48:16):
You have a favorite in trouble or facing a trap
game this weekend. I'm going to the Bears, who are
hosting the Cleveland Browns this weekend. So look, I know
Bears fans like our guy Mark Ramsey over here, you know,
on the board, and also Dan Wiki who covers the
Lakers for the Athletic but he's a big Bears fan.
Is the Chicago guy told me earlier this week that
Shytown is the center of the NFL universe. By all means,

(48:37):
I know you're giddy, you're happy with the way they're
playing this season. I'm all forward.

Speaker 4 (48:42):
Well, I'm just saying.

Speaker 2 (48:43):
Fight of probably there, maybe, but I think Ben Johnson
squarely in the mix for Coach of the Year. On
was considering how this offensive look, how much Caleb Williams
has improved, albeit he misses way too many easy throws
here and there. And while I have been one of
the biggest supporters this season and championing to turn around
for Caleb and the Bear, I do think they need
to be a little bit of an upset alert against

(49:03):
the Browns coming up this weekend. So, coming off that
self lost to Green Bay, you're knocking on the door
of tying the game before Caleb throws a very, very
it'll conceived interception in the end zone, and now you
have a team that's playing out the string coming into
your building. On the surface, it looks like a layup,
but again, we've watched this leak for way too long.
Sometimes the obvious doesn't seem so obvious. I can easily

(49:25):
see the Bears viewing this as a walkover game, considering
that they have a rematch against Green Bay coming up
next Saturday night in primetime. So I think the scheduler
is actually put when you have two of the most
important games of your season as the bread of a
sandwich with one of the dregs of the league in
the middle as the meat, that's just really hard. It
kind of plays mind games with you to a certain degree.

Speaker 3 (49:46):
I think in a spinal tap, not the sequel which sucked.
They call that an s sandwich.

Speaker 4 (49:50):
Yes, to a certain degree, for sure.

Speaker 2 (49:53):
You also consider, by the way too, And I'll talk
to Greg ask greco sel about this coming up in
the next segment. Shduer Sanders really over. This was his
third start last weekend. Look phenomenal against the Titans, who
are terrible ranted, I'll give you that. And they probably
should have won that game if they left him in
there and didn't try to get cute with the whole
two point conversion situation and the wildcat thing, which I'll

(50:13):
still never forgive them for. But Brown's defense has been
so stout all season long. Yes, they were torched by
Tony Pollard of all people last week. You realize, by
the way, Tony Pollard hadn't sniffed one hundred yards rushing
since Week two, when he had ninety two yards. Generally speaking,
he hasn't topped sixty five yards in any game other
than that one prior to last week.

Speaker 3 (50:33):
Did the Titans put up thirty points in that game?

Speaker 4 (50:35):
Yeah, it was a shootout.

Speaker 3 (50:36):
That's more points than they had scored all season long combined,
I think.

Speaker 2 (50:39):
And Tony Pollard ran for one hundred and sixty six
yards against the Cleveland Browns defense, Like I mentioned, that
has been stout pretty much all season long, so that
was a bit of an outlier for them. Even as
bad as the team has been, the defense has at
least been very good. So I believe that Browns defense
is gonna put out a better effort on Sunday than
they did last week. It's gonna be ten degrees that kickoff,
by the way, twenty seven mile in wins is gonna

(51:01):
make it feel like negative twenty. So I don't know
if either offense is really gonna be on fire to
light up the scoreboard.

Speaker 4 (51:07):
This has take the under all day long.

Speaker 2 (51:09):
Make no mistake, I don't think the Browns are gonna
win the game, though, wouldn't surprise me if they did,
but I don't.

Speaker 4 (51:14):
I wouldn't pick them to win, but I wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
Necessarily be shocked if they cover the seven and a
half point spread, And I think that might be a
good bet for this Bears team that might be clearly
looking ahead to a rematch against green Bay coming up
next weekend.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
All right, look ahead game for them. That's your trap game, Tap,
I'm going with you know, the Steelers might be feeling
good about themselves after winning at home in the home
alone Booby Trap Bowl against the Ravens last week. As
Aaron Rodgers came out, you know, looking less like Harry
or Marv. He's basically back to looking like Jake Gillenhall

(51:47):
and Nightcrawler, kind of gaunt, crazy eyed. Basically me if
I could ever lose ten pounds and get my body
fat percentage down to ten, but that was my global I.

Speaker 4 (51:56):
Don't want you looking like the guy like finner Adam.
I don't know if you need to lose any more weight, You're.

Speaker 3 (51:59):
Fine, loock. Stephen King sets a good weight goal for me,
all right. But the Steelers, though, they're trying to eat
another dub like their jamis on Monday Night against the
Dolphins this week. But these aren't just any Dolphins, because
these Dolphins, believe it or not, actually have something to
play for again. Not only did my guy bad boy

(52:22):
Rick moranis Mike McDaniel right the ship. The dolphins are
swimming alongside the ship like the Dolphin Darwin in sequest
DSV with Roy Scheider. And if there's a show to
bring back and revitalize, by the way, that's the what
it should have had more than three seasons. But the
Dolphins are trying to extend their season, having won five
of six and giving themselves a slight chance of making

(52:45):
the playoffs. And by slight, I mean there's a better
chance of SeaQuest coming back while still being captain by
Roy Scheider because their record and the tie breakers going on.
Even if they beat the Steelers, this is crazy, they
still only have a one percent chance of making it
into the playoffs. Even if they then beat the Bengals,

(53:05):
they still only have a two percent chance. Even if
they beat the Steelers Bengals Bucks, they have a four
percent chance. And even if they beat the Patriots after
that to win out winning the last four games, they
would still the Dolphins only have a sixteen percent chance
at ten and seven to make the playoffs in the AFC.

Speaker 2 (53:23):
Now, you know what are the odds on that? Adam
I might throw a couple of shekels on that. Why
the hell not?

Speaker 3 (53:27):
What are the odds they're listening to this podcast? They
don't know that resistance is futile. Like I expect them
to try hard and put up a fight against Pittsburgh
on Monday Night Football. The Steelers, they better be aware
of the fact the Dolphins are not mathematically eliminated yet
yet yet, even the fuzzy bro Math says, there pretty

(53:50):
much are. But the Steelers. They can't afford to let
down after that victory over the Ravens. They really can't.
It's a track game, no it is.

Speaker 4 (53:57):
That's a good call.

Speaker 2 (53:58):

Speaker 5 (56:20):
I'm doing great, guys. How are you?

Speaker 3 (56:22):
We're good?

Speaker 4 (56:23):
Excellent?

Speaker 3 (56:24):
Can we talk about my Panthers a little bit because
they've benefited from the Buccaneers losing the other night? And
I have been a Panthers fan for a long time
and they haven't made the playoffs since twenty seventeen. What
have they done right to really turn things around this season?

Speaker 5 (56:40):
You know, they're a very odd team to evaluate. I
think defensively they're pretty good, and they've play had to
play some backup players, but they've played pretty solid football.
I think their corners for the most part, Horned who
always plays to the boundary, and Jackson, who plays to
the field, have played well. Their front is good. They

(57:00):
they you know, they obviously play some young people. They've
played scoured and the rookie from A and M a
lot of snaps. I think they are hoping he'll develop
into more of a pass rusher, but he's a rookie.
I think their de tackle rotation has been really solid
and offensively, you know, they're they're kind of an interesting
team because you know, Bryce Young has obviously made some

(57:20):
good throws, but they're probably more of a running team.
Dawdles had good moments. Hubbard's now back, He's gives them
a nice one two punch. We'll see as they go
forward the rest of the season, because I think their
past game will have to continue to be a factor. Look,
they hit they hit the big two fourth down plays
to beat the Rams. Uh. The second one to McMillan

(57:42):
was a great job by by Bryce Young because that
was not the read on the play. That was a
late read on the play, not the design of the
play at all. So uh, they're there are you know,
they're kind of an odd team because you don't look
at them and go, there's a really good team. But
they're hanging in there and they and they win some games.

Speaker 2 (58:00):
Right. What was your evaluation of the Atlanta Falcons coming
into the season. It's been a point of debate between
Adam and myself. He says, either think they'd be competing
for a playoff spot anyway. I thought with their young
offensive talent, with obviously there are Michael Pennixs junior having
a full training camp under his belt as a starter,
all the capital they spent to improve their defense, I
thought that by the time we got to Christmas Day
at least be in the discussion for getting into a

(58:21):
playoff spot. But clearly that's not the case, even with
their big victory against Tampa Bay on Thursday night. Just
coming into the season, what were your expectations for Atlanta
and then watching the film through this year, why do
you think they've struggled as much as they have this year?

Speaker 5 (58:34):
Well, I can answer the second part better. I don't
do a lot of like you know, you know, in expectation,
I have to see them play on tape, so you know,
I would say that offensively, they were very up and down.
And the one thing that kind of surprised me, And
you know, I never rip coaches ever, I just don't
do that because I've been fortunate in my career to
be able to sit in meetings in training camp and

(58:54):
those kinds of things. And I know how hard everybody works,
so it's not a rip. But you know, I leays
feel when I watch them that Vjon Robinson should really
be the foundation of their offense. I personally think he's
the best back in the league when it comes to
everything he can do. I know that a lot of
people this year might say Jamir Gibbs, and I understand

(59:15):
that argument totally, but you know, Vjon Robinson to me,
is is such a good player. You can obviously he's
an excellent runner. They run outside zone more than any
team in the league. That's their foundation. Robinson can be
detached from the formation and be a great receiver. You know.
Pennix was working through the uneven play that often is

(59:36):
the result of being, you know, a true first year starter,
and I think they were very up and down on
offense because of it. Defensively, I kind of like what
Jeff Olbrick does. They they're a very good pressure team. Look,
they played a lot of young players, you know, and
then that's another thing with young players, you know, there's
uneven play. You know, they counted on Pierce and Walker

(59:56):
to be, you know, really good players. I think Pierce
was starting come on, you know, I think Wats has
had a nice year as the rookie safety along with Bates.
I really like Kate Nellis. I think he's a really
good player. And I think Albrook's done a nice job
with pressure concepts. They play a ton of man and
they like the pressure.

Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
Greg go sells our guest here on FNA on Fox
Sports Radio, Greg, what happened to the Eagles offense last year?
We would have all said, okay, Saquon Barkley's obviously the
best back in the league. Since you were just talking
about Robinson. I know, it's one thing to have so
many different, I guess moving parts going on and maybe
a wrench in the gears of their offense. But they've
regressed to a point where it's difficult to read exactly

(01:00:37):
where the issue is here. What have you seen?

Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
Well?

Speaker 5 (01:00:41):
Why do you think the Eagles offense was good last year?
They ran the ball better, and why are they not
good this year?

Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
Is okay? Is it Sakwan's regrets or are they just
not going to have enough?

Speaker 5 (01:00:56):
Think of it this way. Last year they had an
historic perform Orrmans by a running back behind an offensive
line that was arguably the best in the league, certainly
when it came to run blocking. This year, the offensive
line has probably played at a level that's in the
bottom third of the league. So they've not been able
to run the football. Keep in mind, last year, Jalen Hurts,
including playoffs, I think started eighteen or nineteen games or

(01:01:19):
twenty games. Was he missed some and he threw for
less than two hundred yards in about half of those games.
So the reality is they weren't a passing team a
year ago. They had an historic running season. So now
the inability to run the ball with any kind of
meaningful consistency, the passing game is the passing game. They're

(01:01:39):
not a passing team. They weren't a year ago, but people,
I think lose sight of that. So you know, I
thought they did a lot better this week in terms
of their pass game concepts, and they really helped Hurts
quite a bit. He made some really good throws in
this last game because the concepts really defined the reds
and the throws for him, and hopefully they can get

(01:02:00):
continue to build on that.

Speaker 4 (01:02:01):
What about their counterparts from the Super Bowl last season.

Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
The Kansas City Chiefs, who are at this point in time,
it looks like they're not going to make the playoffs
for the first time in the Mahomes Andy Reid era.
From what you've seen on film, I mean, offensively, people
have talked about they had injuries to the receivers early on,
those guys came back, and then injuries to the offensive line.
So is it literally just injury issues or is it
something deeper in play as to why they've struggled so
much this season.

Speaker 5 (01:02:25):
Yeah, they're a tough team to figure. I mean, it's
another thing, you know. In the last two years, not
counting this year, Okay, the last two seasons, they've only
averaged twenty two points a game, which by NFL standard
is a low number. They've not been a high scoring
offense in the last two seasons. They don't run the
ball with any real volume or consistency. Every once in

(01:02:47):
a while they have a game where they do that.
A couple of weeks ago, I think they had ninety
offensive plays and Kareem Hunt had thirty carries. But they're
not really a running football team, so they rely on
the pass and they rely really on Steve Spagnolo's defense,
which has really been among the best in the league.
Now this year it hasn't been quite at the same
level as the last two years when they were phenomenal. So,

(01:03:10):
you know, I think the offense is probably playing at
much the same level that it has, the defense hasn't
been quite as good. You know, every time I watch
their tape, it seems to me that all their good
plays come off outside of structure, improvisational plays, and Mahomes
is arguably the best in the league at that maybe
one of the best we've ever seen. It's just hard

(01:03:32):
to live in that world every single week.

Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
I believe you said this something along those lines, Greg
earlier this week on with Colin Coward talking about Josh Allen,
where they have to do so much improvisation that it
puts so much on his plate. The team isn't that
great around him and he has to do everything out there.
Is that a correct characterization?

Speaker 5 (01:03:54):
Well, yeah, I mean I'll amplify. I think the Bills
don't have a great roster overall. I mean, I think
most people would be hard pressed to name any impact
defender that they have. I think Sean McDermott does a
really good job. He's one of the best there is
in the league at what we call late coverage rotation,
where the what you see pre snap is not what

(01:04:16):
you get post snap. I think he's one of the
best in the league doing that. But they don't really
have an impact defender at any level of their defense.
We know about the wide receiver position, they don't really have,
you know, big time wide receivers. I really like Khalier Shakir,
but I think we'd all probably agree that he's you know,
he's a slot guy. He's probably a really good number three.

(01:04:37):
So they're a running football team by necessity behind an
offensive line that's been a little banged up of late.
And then it's Josh Allen and you know, when you
ask your quarterback again, it's the same thing. It's hard
to live in that world every week. And he's phenomenal.
We alway did a few weeks ago against Tampa. We
already did this past week against Cincinnati. But you know,

(01:05:00):
sometimes that just doesn't happen. And it's not because Josh
Allen isn't great. It's just hard to make those kinds
of plays in this league all the time, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
Talking about defenses, I want to put the spotlight on
two of them in the AFC, Houston and Denver two
of the best defensive units in the entire league.

Speaker 4 (01:05:18):
But offensive league can have some issues.

Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
I know that's some late game magic that the Denver
Broncles have had this season and have won a lot
of close games throughout the years, and all the film
that you've seen, you've seen dominant defenses throughout the seasons,
the no flies on DEFENSI for Denver though two thousand
Baltimore Ravens. Do you think these two defensive units are
good enough to carry the offensive units into a postseason
run where the offense doesn't have to show to as
much of a carry because the defenses are so good.

(01:05:41):
Do you see that sort of potential in these two defenses.

Speaker 5 (01:05:43):
Yeah, it's a great question, and that's a hard question
to answer. Houston's defense is really really good, and I
think they have really good players at all three levels.
You know, just based on my film study this year,
I think that kaaln Bullock, who predominantly plays their post safety,
their deep safety position, I think he's played at the
best of anybody in the league. I think he's been
the best post safety in the league. We know about

(01:06:05):
Hunter and Anderson, but I think the interior of their
defensive line, which doesn't get talked about much at all
because of Hunter and Anderson, is really really good and
their linebacking corps. While they may not have a star
per se, they are really good players. And once they
sort of inserted EJ. Speed more beginning kind of mid season,

(01:06:26):
he's a you know, a better athlete than too Too.
And they kind of rotate and mix and match. Then
they're really good at all three levels. That defense, to me,
can shut you down. Denver's defense is really good as well.
They're a little different defense. Vans Joseph plays a ton
of man coverage. He likes to pressure, you know, So

(01:06:47):
both really good and kind of different ways. Can they
can you win just with their defense? Boy? I guess
it would depend on the opponent. I mean, you know,
looks it looks like a year where Mahomes and Lamar
are not going to be in the playoffs, you know,
and us there's some kind of miracle, I guess. So
we'll see. But I think that that those defenses, you know,

(01:07:09):
depending on the opponent, It always depends on the opponent.
They can carry you in any given game.

Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
Greg Coselle joining us here F and A on FSR. So,
since you brought up Lamar Jackson, I talked about this
a little bit earlier in the show as far as
how he's performed, especially coming back from all of his injuries.
From what you've seen on film, do you believe that
he has just regressed from a skill set standpoint? Is
he just struggling because he's banged up? But a lot
of scouts and executives have said he's missing a lot
of easy throws that he typically would make. And I

(01:07:38):
know it's really hard for you to make that determination
when you're not there to see whether it's his injuries
or just consistency overall, But just what do you think
has been the issue for Lamar Jackson this season?

Speaker 5 (01:07:50):
You know, I think that's a really valid point, though.
I think that he has missed throws that would be
considered lay up throws in the NFL, and that's something
that we haven't really seen much of in the past
at all. And I can't answer the why part of that,
but that's what the film shows, and I don't think
he's quite as explosive in the way in which he
moves Now. I don't know if that's a function of

(01:08:11):
injury and we can expect him to return to that
level next year, or whether it's just age and the
fact that he's not a big man, who does you know,
get hit because he runs. So we're going to have
to wait and see on that. But he clearly has
misthrows this year that he's not missed before. I thought
over the last couple of years, he's been a really
good thrower of the football and it hasn't quite been

(01:08:33):
the same this year.

Speaker 3 (01:08:34):
Greg last one for me, we saw Cam Newton get
upset that he didn't get a call from the Colts
and instead they went with Philip Rivers. Why is Philip
Rivers the right guy for Shane Steichen at the age
of forty four? And how does someone like you evaluate him?
Do you go back to old Philip Rivers tape? Are
you watching like Steve de Bergh just seeing what a
forty four year old quarterback can do? How do you
figure out what he's going to look like realistically with

(01:08:57):
the Colts?

Speaker 5 (01:08:58):
Well, I guess Joe Montana was unavailable.

Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
Huh.

Speaker 5 (01:09:02):
You know, Look, Philip Rivers was one of my absolute
favorite quarterbacks when when he played, in many ways he
was like Peyton Manning. He controlled the game from the
line of scrimmage, he saw everything. He was as tough
as they come. But you know, just being honest faced
on tape, his last year in the league, which was
twenty twenty, he couldn't throw the ball very well. So

(01:09:23):
I mean, I'm not going back and looking at Philip
Rivers and I guess he's going to play. I mean,
you know, they didn't sign him to have him, you know,
carry a clipboard, so I just I don't know. I mean,
he couldn't throw it really well in twenty twenty, so
I don't know, you know, what he can do now.
And you know, in some ways, I'm I kind of
feel badly because I just he's obviously not a great athlete,

(01:09:44):
never was even when he was a great player, and
I thought he was a great player, but I just it's,
you know, he just he was done being able to
throw the ball well at it whatever age he was
when he retired.

Speaker 2 (01:09:55):
And the last one for me here, Greg, thanks for
spending as much time with us as you have, just
going back said, we have Cleveland taken on Chicago this
weekend and people talk about Shador Sanders. His best game
as a pro by far last week against Tennessee in
a losing effort. He wasn't in the game for that
two point conversion, which still puzzles me. But on film,
what did and how has the progression looked like from
Sdora Sanders from his very first start to where he

(01:10:15):
was last week against Tennessee.

Speaker 5 (01:10:17):
Well, progression is not the word I used. He started
two games, but he played very well this week. The
first week in which he started, he really missed some things.
He just didn't see the field very well, and he
missed throws that were clean and defined and just didn't
turn it loose. This week, I thought he saw things.
I thought he played with some calmness, some composure. Every

(01:10:39):
once in a while he will hold the ball too long,
which you know, ideally with more experience and more reps,
he understands that that you can't do that. But he
made some really big time throws. I thought he played
well this week, and you know, anxious to see him
continuing to go forward. You know, I think he you know,

(01:10:59):
what his greats are is that he could be a
very solid, you know, ball distributor. That's what his traits are,
and you know, we'll see. You know, from what I understand,
the weather in Chicago this week's supposed to be really
really cold, so you know, which is no fun for anybody,
you know, not even quarterbacks that are that are great.
I mean, I think it's supposed to be twenty or

(01:11:20):
less below. So we'll see how that plays out.

Speaker 3 (01:11:23):
Between the cool factor with Shadora Sanders and the actual
cold out there on the Midway in Chicago. We shall
see what wins out here. He is great co Sale,
best of the best, I think. I think Colin Cowherd
would agree with that. And we just had him on
and he had us in the dark room, like Mike
Mars was in there as well, hanging out, pointing out plays, routes.

(01:11:44):
Everything you need to know to get prepared to be
a smarter football fan out there at Great co Sales
where you find him and listen to him with Mike
Harmon on Fox Football Sunday from five to seven am
Pacific time. Greg, thanks again for doing this.

Speaker 5 (01:11:59):
Appreciate it guy.

Speaker 4 (01:12:00):
Well, I'll feel a smarter now that I have talked
to Greg Cozel.

Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
I feel dumber because because he was so smart dumb ass.
I feel so inferior. I know nothing, I've learned nothing.

Speaker 4 (01:12:12):
Did he sund you on the Philadelphia Eagles Man?

Speaker 3 (01:12:16):
I yeah, but I'll take that from Greg. Nobody else,
but I'll take that from him. Look, I get it.
I'm just is it the offensive line? Is it Saquan?
Is it both? Is it? Everything? Like, there's just so
much regression going on.

Speaker 2 (01:12:30):
We had Greg on the show maybe about a month ago,
maybe a little bit longer ago, and he kind of
put the spotlight on the offensive line just not playing
up to snuff for whatever reason. So it would make
sense to me that it will be a combination of
a couple of things, the old line not playing well
and Saquon Barkley the two thousand yard jinks.

Speaker 4 (01:12:46):
I'm still alive.

Speaker 3 (01:12:46):
How many picks did Jalen Hirts throw on Monday Night Football?
I know the last one, you know, that was a
great defensive play, but still, my god.

Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
Consider all the mistakes they made in that game and
they still lost, barely lost that game.

Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
The Chargers literally don't have an offensive line.

Speaker 4 (01:13:02):
Well, that is true, that is true.

Speaker 3 (01:13:04):
More on that coming up. I think in the NFL
six pack as we still got our beer goggles game
to get into our old Troy epic fail and much more.

Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
Before we go, I do want to let you guys know,
by the way, every goal starts with an assist on
and off the field. That's why Heleyon and US Soccer
are launching for the Assist, a celebration of everyday acts
of support that help people will achieve their goals with
iconic brands like Censini, Thom's, voltairean Adville, and Syndrome. To
learn more, go to heley on assist dot com. As

(01:13:33):
Adam mentioned, we'll take a short timeout. When we come
back on the other side, we'll dive back into the
NFL six pack.

Speaker 4 (01:13:39):
It's FNA on FSR.

Speaker 3 (01:13:40):
If I could get in a Broadway show, then I
would have done it all film, television and theater.

Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
So the thing love to be radio.

Speaker 1 (01:13:47):
That's just for ugly people.

Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
FNA Cotton, welcome back in. It's FNA on FSR. Remember

Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
It is FNA on FSR Fox Football Saturday with Kevin
Figures and Adam Alston. Coming up next hour will dive
into college football and our college football forecast. It is
Army Navy weekend. But of course the controversy this week
surrounding the college football playoff and Notre Dame and all
of their Some would say whining and complaining. Some would
say rightfully so, some would say get over it. So

(01:14:38):
we'll talk about that coming up next hour. Right now,
you want to dive back into the NFL six pack?
What do we have?

Speaker 1 (01:14:45):
Beer goggles? Kay?

Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
All right?

Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
So this is like a game that doesn't look that
good on paper, yep, but you can find some cool
stuff in there and a reason to watch eventually.

Speaker 4 (01:14:55):
Do you want to go?

Speaker 3 (01:14:56):
Do you want me to go?

Speaker 11 (01:14:57):
Here?

Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
Kevin? What's up?

Speaker 1 (01:14:58):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:14:58):
I'll start here. I'll start because I'll go to this
epic NFC East matchup between the Commanders and the Giants,
wamp I'll be honest, it's really hard, Adam, to find
a compelling argument to watch a three to ten team
face a two point eleven team at ten o'clock in
the morning on the best coast, to be honest with you,
And unfortunately Jane Daniels out again this week, and honestly,

(01:15:18):
at this point in this season probably should just be
shut down for the entire year. That elbow injury going
to continue to get irritated because he's going to continue
to be running for his life, because he's going to
continue to get annihilated by opposing defenses playing behind that
Washington offensive line. So as a team, Washington not going anywhere.
I don't believe that dan Quinn's on the hot seat,
by the way, I've heard that come up a little bit,

(01:15:39):
because similar to the Dolphins, at least for me, this
is my outlook. I don't know how you see it, Adam.
I think their issues are more personnel based and injury
based than coaching base. At this point in time, their
defense is just old and slow. They can't keep up
with anybody, and their offensive skill players are either hurt
are also old and slow, So there's just not a
lot to work with that they need a little bit
of a rebuild around, actually a lot of bit of

(01:15:59):
a rebuild around Jayden Daniels as the pillar. I don't
think dan Quinn is the issue there, but with Washington
be in this bat, it does open the door for
Jackson Dart to have a big game. He's healthy, he's
rested coming off a bye week, pois to continue to
improve like he has all season long. Obviously it hasn't
resulted in a lot of wins, but if you consider
how that Giant offense has looked with him under center,

(01:16:21):
it's been pretty viable and competitive considering they've had a
ratch of injuries to several of their skill position players.
So clearly no one outside of the DMV area is
going to give it to about the Commanders in this one.
But if you want to watch the progression of a
really good young quarterback who I think can actually be
one of the upper echelon quarterbacks in this league if
he stays healthy, continues to progress, then I think you

(01:16:42):
should stick, you know, spend a few minutes watching this
game between the Giants and the Commanders and see what
Jackson Dark can do. I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (01:16:48):
I got this is my beer goggles game as well,
Like I think this Commander's Giants game could be drunker
than former cornerback Quinton Jammer when he to play in
the league. As he tweeted out on Monday Night Football
during the Chargers Eagles game that he was completely s
face drunk in at least eight games during his twenty

(01:17:10):
eleventh season for the Chargers. Quintin Jammer.

Speaker 2 (01:17:14):
I did like to follow up that a lot of
fans had when they had a bunch of highlights of
him getting torched.

Speaker 4 (01:17:19):
The was like, were you a drunk on this play?
How about this one?

Speaker 2 (01:17:23):
Hey?

Speaker 4 (01:17:24):
He opened himself up for it.

Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
To his credit, he's like, hey, I'm being vulnerable right now,
but bleep you guys, I don't care.

Speaker 3 (01:17:28):
Yeah, right, which I respect. He was trying to be honest.
It's freeing, it's freeing out there. I guess he was
going through a divorce, so that's going through a lot
at the time.

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
He said, Yeah, mental health issue is all that.

Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
He also said if Marty Schottenheimer was never fired, he
probably never would have gone down that road to let
him leading him to drink.

Speaker 4 (01:17:46):
But yeah, have fun with that one.

Speaker 3 (01:17:48):
AJ Smith, this game, this game could have some real
drunk looking plays as well, and decisions from both the
Commanders and Giants this season, Like I don't know if
Jackson Dart is drunker on PCP with some of the
runs he tries like he thinks he's Superman out there.
The reaction from Peyton Manning on the Monday Night Manning Cast,

(01:18:11):
which I do enjoy, when he got lit up. I
forget who it was on the Patriots, but it was
a Sean Taylor type of hit. And Peyton Manning is
watching Jackson Dart tiptoe around the sideline but not get
out of bounds, and he just stood their mouth at
gate for like thirty seconds, wondering what the hell he's doing.
He could not believe Jackson Dart was that stupid to

(01:18:33):
not just go out of bounds. Now I mentioned Sean Taylor, well,
Jackson Dart going up against his former team, I guess
with a new name, Now this game could get wacky.
Neither team needs to tank to get a higher pick
for a quarterback.

Speaker 4 (01:18:48):
Now they're bad enough. Yeah, whether they try or not.

Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
No Jaydon Daniels, but Mariota has been decent and it
does look like the Giants defense though that was kind
of good. Gave up over a month ago all of
a sudden. Yeah, and meanwhile, the Commander's defense, as you mentioned,
they gave up in game two of the preseason, so
you could get a high scoring game. I see the

(01:19:13):
entertainment factor here between the Giants and Commanders with my
beer goggles on, at least because it is our beer
goggle matchup here on the six pack.

Speaker 2 (01:19:25):
Yeah, Mario has actually showed himself decently well as a
backup quarterback. I think he's shown his deficiencies as to
why he can no longer be a starter at this point.

Speaker 4 (01:19:32):
I can't really say he's.

Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
Kept the Commanders afloat because again they're three to ten
at this point in time. But to your point, in
a game like this, I gets another subpar opponent, I
could definitely see this game going, you know, being high scoring,
getting into the thirties for both teams.

Speaker 4 (01:19:46):
Why not.

Speaker 3 (01:19:47):
I just need Jackson Dart to relax, stop worrying about
what they're saying about him and the tabloids with Instagram models,
and get the hell out of bounds because I do
want to see him play for a long time, and
the Giants haven't had a on a success with great
quarterback play over the last fifty years.

Speaker 4 (01:20:05):
I'll say forever their entire franchise's history.

Speaker 3 (01:20:08):
They've had glimpses here and there, Phil Simms in the
Super Bowl and then he lied Manning in the Super
Bowl getting hot. Hostetler like, they've had moments, but they
haven't had the consistency. And he looks like he actually
has the tools to be a really good quarterback in
this league if he can stay healthy. And that's really
up to him because the hits he's taken, it's not

(01:20:29):
because the offensive line is just letting him get sacked
over and over again. It's because he's trying to extend place.

Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
Yeahwait, needs to get to go into the Russell Wilson
camp and learn how to slide, because that's also part
of his game and part of his identity is being
able to use his legs, keep plays alive and run around.
He's almost like Johnny Manziel if Johnny Manzela actually worked.
He's kind of a little bit like that. You just
need them to have a little bit more consistency. We
have more of the NFL six pack coming up here.
FNA on FSR, you're.

Speaker 1 (01:20:56):
Listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio final of.

Speaker 2 (01:21:00):
Fn A on FSR for this week it is Kevin
Figures at kfig Ones where you can find me on X.
Adam is that follow adam A on X. Coming up
in the next segment, we'll get into our college football
forecast as the season for all of tents and purposes
is over. As now we get into the postseason. We
have a couple of bowl games coming up later this afternoon.
We also have the big Army Navy game. Of course,

(01:21:21):
the big topic d joor is the college football Playoff.
Who's in and most importantly who was left out?

Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
Some of us tried to tell you what was going
to happen last week, but yo, some people didn't want
to listen.

Speaker 2 (01:21:33):
Yeah, some people now, damn it. Yeah, some people was
me because far beer from me to listen to go
back and use precedent on what the committee used to
do and how they used to put people in and
determine who qualifies and who doesn't. But the metric, But
I guess, I guess that the goalpost move every single.

Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
Year, especially you keep expanding it like this. Who knows
what they'll do next?

Speaker 4 (01:21:53):
So far beer from me?

Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
Sorry, I expected you to do something that you've been
doing this whole time, and you didn't do it.

Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
You expected them to be logic and rational, Kevin, how
dare you?

Speaker 5 (01:22:02):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
I just expect you to be consistent? Like, how about that?
That's all I asked for. But we'll get into that
coming up in the next segment. Coming up. Now, we've
got to continue the NFL six pack.

Speaker 4 (01:22:13):
What do we have?

Speaker 7 (01:22:14):
Oh my god, Oh my god, Oh christ I'm so sorry.

Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
It is the old Troy epic fail potential game here. Yes,
I got something for you.

Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
Okay, what do you got.

Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
I'm not saying, you know, the Eagles are going to
lose it home to the Raiders, but I am saying
if they don't cover the eleven and a half points,
that's basically a loss. Let me explain. The Raiders' new
win is just covering the line. If you saw what

(01:23:07):
happened at the end of the game last week against Denver.

Speaker 2 (01:23:10):
No, that was pure strategy. Was for the confidence of
the team. They have to make sure they kicked a
field goal towards the end. I'm just talking about.

Speaker 3 (01:23:16):
See, the Raiders have convinced themselves there's another game being
played out there, and it doesn't involve actual wins with
the final score of the stadium. That's for the casuals.
I'm not saying the Raiders are gambling either, but I
am saying they now consider it an actual win internally
if they just cover the points they're getting as underdogs

(01:23:37):
every single week. After all, they are the team from Vegas.
It honestly should count in the standings a win if
they just cover the points spread.

Speaker 4 (01:23:46):
That cost some of their draft position.

Speaker 2 (01:23:48):
Adam, don't do that.

Speaker 3 (01:23:49):
Oh, I'm sorry, you're right, you're right. You gotta think
two steps ahead. But that was the type of energy
I saw last week from the Raiders when they were
down ten at their own forty one twenty six seconds
left at home against the Denver Broncos with no timeouts.
And I haven't seen a hurry up offense like this
since the days of hitting fast forward. While watching Raiders

(01:24:10):
games up in NorCal and we had a little bit
of equity build up on the TiVo. The Raiders were
moving Kevin like they were all Bo Jackson or James
Jet to get to the line of scrimmage and spike
the ball with sixteen seconds left. Again, they were down ten.
The game is over. There is no reason to try
this hard now unless they thought about the game within

(01:24:32):
the game, and that game could still be won by
covering the seven and a half points the Broncos were
favored by. So Kenny Pickett, who's starting this week, rolls
out findes Tyler Lockett for twenty six yards with four
seconds left in Denver's thirty three, and somehow Lockett sells
it that Broncos safety Brandon Jones intentionally would not let

(01:24:53):
him up so they could get towards the line of
scrimmage and spike the ball again. Like, first of all,
who cares the game is over? Why are we playing
this hard? All of a sudden, Raiders? But they called
de lay a game on Brandon Jones. So now the
Raiders have the ball in the twenty six yard line. Well,
they're down ten, they got one play left in them.

(01:25:15):
You just getna kneel or throw it up to the
end zone for funzies. No should well. Instead, they kicked
the field goal to only lose by seven. When the
line was Denver minus seven and a half. The Raiders covered,
and I think in their mind they felt like they won. Yo.
The Raiders think because their team is in Vegas that

(01:25:37):
if they cover the points they should get a full
win in the standings. I'm telling you, Pete Carroll got
like a bubblegum flavored gatorade shower after that, and they
might try to do that against the Eagles now this
week too. Like, people gotta stop this. Stop the Raiders
from covering, because when they cover, they feel like they
have won. In fact, they still think they're having a

(01:26:00):
winning season because if you look at them against the spread,
well they're five and eight and they got four games left.
If they cover all four games, that's a winning season.
In their mind, they will be nine and eight on
the year. The Vegas team really thinks they just have
to cover and that equals a win in the standings. Kevin,

(01:26:24):
how far the Raiders have fallen.

Speaker 4 (01:26:26):
I don't think that that's wholly accurate at all.

Speaker 2 (01:26:28):
I can't speak to what the thinking was and Pete
Carrold deciding to have Daniel Carls and kick that field goal.
But let's just say maybe the old Al Davis red
phones of the sideline still works and somebody upstairs had
a little action on the game.

Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
Okay, if you know what I mean, all right, I'll
keep the torch lit for al and keep covering spreads,
I guess because they can't actually win games, but they
can cover.

Speaker 2 (01:26:49):
Yes, they can. All right, So I'm gonna go with
my old Troy epic fail potential and I'm gonna go
to a game that you talked about a little bit earlier,
and it involves your favorite team, Adam Carolina Panthers. Oh
yeah they oh yeah, because Tyler shug Hat the Bucks
shook last week, put off one of the bigger upsets
of the season. I know Tampa Bay has been playing
more recently. Saints are bereft of talent as any team

(01:27:10):
in the league this season, but they put it on
a pretty good and I'll say this too of New Orleans,
Bri you can back me up on this. You watch
this terrible team every single week. You know, one of
the signs of whether a coach is actually has the
ear of the locker room is the effort they show
in a weekend and week out basis. It's not everything,
but it is something. And one thing you can say
about the New Orleans Saints is they haven't quit on
Kellen Moore. And I will say this full disclosure, I

(01:27:32):
was not a fan of the higher I thought he
was a little overrated as an offensive coordinator and not
the best option to be a head coach. But so far,
at the very least, he has the edge when it
comes to keeping his locker room motivated, So I'll give
him that. So they played the role of spoiler last
week for Tampa, who really needed that game, and then
subsequently lost again against Atlanta on Thursday night. You know, so,

(01:27:52):
now the Saints come.

Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
Again at him helping out the Panthers. Baby, they absolutely did.

Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
Now the Saints have a great chance to steiny Carolina's
efforts to keep pace with the Bucks.

Speaker 4 (01:28:00):
Let us stay ahead of the Bucks.

Speaker 2 (01:28:01):
Yes, exactly, Yes. Now, look by the way, and Adam,
I'm sure you know this. Panthers and Bucks still play
each other twice. Yeah, but these inner Division games matter
when it comes to ty Bricker scenarios if nothing else.
And by the way, let's not bring up a bad memory.
You remember this, Adam, because you brought it up earlier.
You realize that one of the saints three wins came
against Carolina.

Speaker 3 (01:28:20):
Yeah, I know, in Carolina.

Speaker 2 (01:28:22):
Tyler Shugg had one of his best performances in this
season in Carolina, and.

Speaker 3 (01:28:26):
I swiftly disowned them after that loss. The pans of.

Speaker 2 (01:28:31):
His passes two hundred and eighty two yards, a couple
of touchdown passes, no turnovers. So, Adam, I'm telling you,
do not get your hopes up. I know you're excited now.
Carolina got themselves in the first place by sitting on
their asses and not doing anything on Thursday night. It
can all come crumbling down when the future Hall of
Famer Tyler shug rows in to New Orleans and puts

(01:28:51):
it on the Carolina Panthers yet again.

Speaker 4 (01:28:53):
I can absolutely see.

Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
It happening now. I'm shook, but I do want to
shout out Gunner Thomas, who has full leaf in this
Carolina Panthers squad and actually predicted them being the Rams
a couple of weeks ago. And he's been tweeting at me.
He said, no leaving this Panthers team win, lose, or tie,
Panthers fan till you die.

Speaker 4 (01:29:17):
At least somebody in the situation feels that way.

Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
Not at him.

Speaker 3 (01:29:20):
Wait, I'm very loyal.

Speaker 4 (01:29:21):
Oh, just jumping off the bandwagon on and off. It's ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (01:29:26):
Look, it's an ownership thing. It's not my fault. I
have leeway here, all right, what's up next?

Speaker 1 (01:29:31):
Mark under the microscope.

Speaker 3 (01:29:33):
So I got this Chiefs Chargers game under the microscope.
Why because the Chargers are not out of the woods yet,
and the Chiefs aren't fully eliminated from the playoffs yet.
You have to put that steak through the heart. You
have to make Taylor Swift cry and write a breakup
song about the Chiefs dynasty breaking up before it's over.

(01:29:54):
Then it's official. They still could win out with games
at home against the Chargers this week, and again it's
Denver and they need road wins over the Raiders and Titans.

Speaker 4 (01:30:04):
Well that's not happening, so come on, come on.

Speaker 3 (01:30:07):
No, it's possible they could wake up win the next
four if they do it, depending on what help happens elsewhere.
But the math says they got about fifty percent chance
of making the playoffs if they went out. It is
not over for case. And honestly, I don't think the
Chargers beat him this week. They don't have an offensive line.

(01:30:27):
I don't mean like they don't have their starters or
they're just bad. They don't have an offensive line. Justin
Herbert snaps the ball to himself, runs backwards. It's backyard football,
and just he's got the arm strength to still make
accurate throws, but he's gonna get rocked probably a few

(01:30:47):
times in this ball game. I got the Chiefs winning
over the Chargers at home in Kansas City and keeping
their playoff homes alive. But that's my under the microscope game, Kevin.

Speaker 4 (01:30:57):
They better to be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (01:31:00):
The Charges offensive line is weak, but the Chiefs pass
rush is just as weak save for Chris Jones upfront.
So we'll see exactly how that and and that Charger
defense is really tough against the Kansas City offense, like
Greg co Sale told us as was struggling. So I
think Kansas City wins too. This is one of those
franchises I just can't see until they get eliminated mathematically
from the postseason. I'm not gonna say that they're done.

(01:31:21):
I have to see it to believe it. At that point,
I'm with you, all right, what's next?

Speaker 1 (01:31:24):
Mark redemption round?

Speaker 2 (01:31:27):
You know what, I didn't even do my under the microscope.

Speaker 4 (01:31:30):
That's my fault. That's my fault. We'll get to the
redemption round in a second.

Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
My under the microscope is actually a Buffalo taking on
the New England Patriots, and I find it interesting. I'm
not gonna call it a must win for the Bills
because it's as important of a regular season divisional game
as you can have without it literally being like the
NFC or the AFC East Championship game. I'll say, similar
to people who claim that the Lions window was closed,
there's noise out there that Buffalo's window is closing. That's ludicrous.

(01:31:55):
When you have a quarterback the caliber of Josh Allen.
I know he doesn't have the greatest weapons. That's something
that at Cosell brought up earlier in the show as well,
but you have someone with that much talent who Daltskin
Kid is. He's not Travis Kelcey, but for all intents
and purposes, he is Josh Allen's version of Travis Kelcey.
Really the best offensive weapon that he has, and he
makes a big difference when he's out there, like he

(01:32:16):
did last week against Cincinnati. So obviously a major priority
for this team in the offseason is to bring in
somebody on the outside that can make plays for Josh
Allen to make things easier because you're gonna have a
great quarterback. We talked about this earlier in the show.
With Joe Burrow. As great as he is, it certainly
helps RaSE his ceiling when he has the likes of
Jamar Chase out there to be able to throw the
ball to Josh Allen just has not had that these

(01:32:36):
last couple of seasons. Especially all that being said, I
think we're going to get a great view of what
this version of the Bills looks like when they're in
quote unquote playoff mode, because that has to be their
mentality as they head into this one against the Patriots.

Speaker 4 (01:32:49):
By the way, I was a little surprised at.

Speaker 2 (01:32:51):
This game open with Buffalo as a two point dog,
to be honest with you, or excuse me, two point
favorite on the road. Obviously not a large number. It's
come down to the Bills being favored by one. But
you would think as dominant as the Patriots have been,
couple with the inconsistency that Buffalo has shown this season,
you think the Pats would actually be a two to
three point favorite coming into this one.

Speaker 4 (01:33:10):
But for whatever reason, that's not the case.

Speaker 3 (01:33:12):
Seems like they think Buffalo is just more desperate they
have to win.

Speaker 2 (01:33:15):
That's kind of my thought, Adam, And that's kind of
why I think this is a big one for them,
and why I kind of give them the edge. It's
not always the case in professional sports or any sport really,
when you say the most desperate team is the one
that ends up coming up with the victory. But to
your point, Buffalo is the more desperate team. They need
this victory more than New England does. So I'm interested
to see exactly how this Buffalo Bills team performs this

(01:33:35):
coming weekend on Sunday against the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (01:33:38):
Josh Allen may already have some dad strength because I
thought I saw something earlier that Hailey Steinfeld is pregnant.

Speaker 2 (01:33:45):
Oh yeah, they did the whole video. He's kissing her stomach.
It's a whole photo op thing. Yeah, yeah, they're they're official.

Speaker 3 (01:33:52):
Not even married. I can't believe this. My redemption round here.
They got married, were engaged.

Speaker 4 (01:34:01):
No, I think they're engaged. I don't know if they're
married quite yet.

Speaker 3 (01:34:04):
Now I would agree, I would have been agree, right, Okay,
they got married in Barbara. That stuff don't count. You
gotta go to Vegas. Maybe that's the marriages are doesn't
count either. Okay, I'm sorry, I'm insulting everyone right now.
Let's insult the Bears instead. My redemption round right here. Actually,

(01:34:24):
I guess I'll insult shaduor Sanders. Caleb Williams is about
to show Chadu or something in Chicago on Sunday after
they lost Leyton Lambeau. You mentioned it earlier. The Bears.
They're right in between the Packers and Lions in the
NFC North standings. There is pressure to win every week.
That division is up for grabs. They have the Packers again,

(01:34:46):
the forty nine Ers, and then the Lions. They can't
slip up against the Browns, who found a way to
lose the Titans last week. The Bears have all the
motivation in the world to redeem themselves and the right
team to do it against. I think should Or was
impressive last week.

Speaker 1 (01:35:01):
He was.

Speaker 3 (01:35:02):
It was also against the worst team in the league,
at least until the Browns lost to them and took
that title back to the factory of sadness in Cleveland. Now,
I know it's cold there. I know Shadure he's the
coldest player in the league. He's cool, he's a badass.
But that Chicago cold is gonna hit different you mentioned

(01:35:23):
the weather. It's gonna be ugly there.

Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
Minus twenty is what it's gonna feel like.

Speaker 3 (01:35:27):
Shadure, I'm not sure that's thong weather. I'm not sure
you can be wearing that. Did you see that picture
that surfaced? He had He had to answer to his brother,
what is it?

Speaker 4 (01:35:39):
Shiloh Chilo Sanders.

Speaker 2 (01:35:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:35:42):
He does a video call with Shadure to ask him
if he was wearing a thong because of a picture
that came out when he was bent over on the
field and it did look like a thong, kind of
that thong, the thlong long wre Cisco. He said, no,
you knew I had that back injury was tape, That's
what it was, Okay, but thong gate was real and

(01:36:05):
people were asking about this. So in case it's real
enough that it was truthful, shadeuur dish the thong. Bring
the long John Thurmals to Chicago. You're gonna need them
or baby.

Speaker 2 (01:36:18):
He's just wanted a show of displayed to show that
he's tough. You know a lot of times guys will
come out and pregame warmups in the snow and have
no shirt on. I don't need any underwear. I don't know, jockstrap.
I'll just wear me a thong. I'll free not even that,
I'll just free ball it out there. I don't need
anything now.

Speaker 3 (01:36:33):
I'm free, free people.

Speaker 2 (01:36:36):
I'm gonna go back to the Eagles Raiders matchup you
were talking about earlier when it comes to my redemption round,
and this is clearly for Philadelphia. So remember early in
the season when the Cowboys were a giant siev defensively,
we said, anytime you had Dallas pop up on your schedule,
that's a good right game for the opposing offense. I
feel that's a similar vibe when you play the Las
Vegas Raiders. Now, the Raiders are better defensively than Dallas is,

(01:36:57):
but as a team as a whole, the Raiders make
the Cats look like the seventy two Miami Dolphins. Like,
I don't know what's gonna end up. What's going on
in Vegas right now. It sounds like Pete Carroll could
end up being a one and done coach, which I'm
usually not the biggest fan of, but I guess I
would understand if they decided to blow things up yet
again for the umpteenth time in five years or whatever.
It's been. But if you're the Eagles, this has to

(01:37:19):
be a get right game for you, even if there
isn't any real concern about whether you'll win the division
or not. You don't want to be limping into the
postseason just getting by in the skin of your teeth, which,
by the way, is what they've done all season long.
The Eagles a prime example of a squad that plays
either up or down to their competition. And you know what,
they've had a pretty difficult schedule this season. Not to

(01:37:40):
make any excuses, but that's just the fact. But it's
one thing to lose to a good Bears team that's
on the come, or the Chargers, who are one of
the better teams in the AFC. It'd be a whole
other level of shame and embarrassment to lose a game.
Or honestly, you talk about covering the spread, I think
Egals have to cover a spread here. You got to
win this game by two touchdowns over the Raiders. You
have to basically assert your dominance over this woebegone franchise.

(01:38:04):
I don't want to call the Eagles fans unreasonable, but
when you talk about fan bases that are constantly on
the edge and teetering of exploding. I don't think it's
unfair to say that they are at the top of
the list. An Eagle fan can't deny that. By the way,
you remember Adam so the year they lost the Super
Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs. They came back that
following season. They started ten to one, they hit a
tail spin at the end of the year. They finished

(01:38:24):
eleven and six before getting blown out by the Bucks.
People were calling for Nick Sirianni's head back then he
had to come back and win the Super Bowl last season,
or if that might have been a fan revolt for
people calling for his job. So look easy for me,
as a Raider fan to sit here and say so, so,
you're struggling a bit this season. You won the title
last year. Give them a mulligan. But for the Eagle

(01:38:45):
fans the standard is clearly much higher. There is no mulligan.
You cannot lose to the Raiders. You can't look bad
against the Raiders. Anything less than thirty four to three
or something like that is an utter disappointment at this
point in time, and for all the Raider fans, by
the way, who went crazy, can you picky looking good?
In garbage time last week. You're gonna see a little
bit of a different result out there tomorrow when a
good defense has an entire week to game plan for

(01:39:07):
you and they're not just playing prevent with a bunch
of backups in there.

Speaker 3 (01:39:10):
How dare you hate on your Raiders like that? Kevin
leaving that.

Speaker 1 (01:39:13):
To me your heart?

Speaker 3 (01:39:15):
Let that hate out all right?

Speaker 1 (01:39:18):

College football forecast with f and Ah Kevin.

Speaker 3 (01:40:45):
What do you have to say for yourself?

Speaker 2 (01:40:47):
Well, I'll say this. I'll say I was wrong and
Adam predicted this perfectly last week with how the college
football playoff would shakeout based how things were lined up
if things were to hold, which they did BYU losing
the Big twelve championship game Alabama losing the SEC championship game. Now,
I will say the crux of our debate at the
time was whether Alabama lost a close game. I said,

(01:41:11):
whether they lost closer or they got blown out, it
wouldn't matter. They would have three losses. They would have
lost the conference championship game. And based on the pass
what this committee has done, whether they should or shouldn't
because of a giant argument as to whether or not
you know, a team that would otherwise be in at large,
like Alabama, should be hurt by the fact that they
play an extra game in the SEC title game, whether

(01:41:31):
they should or shouldn't. Historically, teams have been going back
to the fourteen playoff and last year in the twelve
team playoff. So based on that theory, I thought of
Alabama lost, they would be out.

Speaker 4 (01:41:41):
So then when Alabama got run off of the.

Speaker 2 (01:41:43):
Field against Georgia in the SEC Title Game, I thought
it was a fourgone conclusion that they would be out,
and that still didn't happen.

Speaker 4 (01:41:50):
And not only did it not happen.

Speaker 3 (01:41:51):
They didn't move.

Speaker 2 (01:41:53):
They sat right at number nine, the exact same spot
where they were the week before, which is unprecedented, that's
never happened.

Speaker 3 (01:42:01):
You're accurate and accurate in saying that. I thought they
had to keep it close against Georgia. Otherwise I really
believe they could have put Miami and Notre Dame in
and not have to make that decision between one or
the other, and it was gonna be Bama being shut out.
But they didn't. I did bring up that they had

(01:42:22):
already beaten Georgia on the road, so it's a really
unique three loss team. And it's also Bama. And eventually
because Buyu loss as you mentioned there badly to Tech,
it put Miami in Notre Dame right next to one another.
And once they were there, the committee had to go
with the head to head victory of Miami.

Speaker 2 (01:42:45):
Well, and see, the committee put themselves in this predicament.
And this goes back to the argument that you and
I had and I don't know, I can't. I don't
know if you were just playing Devil's advocate or you
truly believe that Notre Dame should have been seven spots
ahead of Miami when those initial rankings came out.

Speaker 3 (01:42:58):
Oh no, no, I was. I was with you. If
all things are equal, of course it's head to head.

Speaker 2 (01:43:02):
It has to be, yeah, because and see if they
had even if they had at that point in time,
and think week eleven is what it was, and even
if Notre Dame in Miami were a spot apart, if
you wanted to say, based on how they're playing now,
we'll give Notre Dame a NOD one spot ahead of
Miami or something. As the weeks continued to progress. See
what hurt Miami was the fact that they lost two
out of three games in the middle of the season,

(01:43:24):
whereas Notre Dame lost theirs at the very beginning. Miami
actually got caught fire and started playing well, and we're
dominating teams down the stretch, just like Notre Dame was.
And so I used a sandwich analogy earlier in the show.
You know, as you had Notre Dame in Miami as
the bread of a sandwich in the innards, the meat
kind of got chopped away, and they got closer and

(01:43:44):
closer together. It became a bigger predicament for the committee.
The predicament could have been avoided from day one. If
Miami were ahead of Notre Dame, or even if Notre
Dame were ahead of Miami by a spot or two
in week eleven, and by the time we got to
week fourteen Miami had jumped them, Notre Dame would have
no calls to plane. See, for me, the argument never
should have been Miami and Notre Dame. The argument should

(01:44:05):
have been Notre Dame in Alabama, because Miami was already there.
They already had the upper edge over Notre Dame. This
never should have been a debate. And if they were
closer together six weeks ago, like they should have been,
this would have been a moot.

Speaker 3 (01:44:15):
Would have been a moot point well, and I understand
Notre Dame's right because they feel like they had the
rug pulled out from underneath them. They didn't do anything
all year to Miami, and then the final week they
jump you. That's on the committee. To me, that was

(01:44:37):
an issue because nobody wants to feel like you believe
in us, we're the better team, and we're both not
playing this week, So what exactly changed? What change was
though BYU lost and it put them right next to
one another.

Speaker 2 (01:44:54):
They should have been the buffer. That's the problem. They
never should have been the buffer.

Speaker 3 (01:44:58):
I agree with you. I'm just saying that's what forced
them eventually to have to make the right decision here.
But you're not wrong. They shouldn't have had Miami so
far back of Notre Dame and they should have jumped them.
I don't know two weeks ago, Yes, and therefore Notre
Dame wouldn't feel so slided.

Speaker 2 (01:45:17):
Yeah, because you can. It's easy to justify the other
day say, look, we value had to head. You guys
lost to them. You guys were neck and neck this
whole time. If Miami slips up and loses and you
went out, then you jump them. But absintly that we
can't justify putting you ahead. I don't think any reasonable
Notre Dame fan could argue against that. Now, if you
want to talk, argue between Alabama and Notre Dame, which
is what it should have been this past weekend when

(01:45:40):
they made it had to select you show on Sunday,
I sided with Alabama because I'm generally more of a
resume guy than an eyeball test guy. It's like, the
reason why you play sports is so you can see
what happens on the field. I try to think as
much subjectivity out of it as possible. It's really hard
to do that when you have one hundred and thirty
you know, Division one teams and eighty five FBS schools

(01:46:01):
or whatever it is. Yeah, so you're gonna have to
start arguing about, you know, who looks better.

Speaker 4 (01:46:05):
And all that.

Speaker 3 (01:46:06):
The schedules are too unbalanced, there's not enough uniformity. It's
also what makes college football great.

Speaker 2 (01:46:11):
Yeah, Now, look, Notre Dame has got credit for two
close losses. Their only good win was against USC Alabama,
like you mentioned, beat Georgia on the road, but they
also beat a very good Vanderbilt team. You know, they
they they have the resume, They have the rest requisite
wins you know on their resume that Notre Dame doesn't.
So I gotta have to value Alabama's wins more than

(01:46:33):
a half to value Notre Dame's losses. And like even
for people who say, like, well, Alabama didn't look good
the last month of the season, which they didn't, and
Alabama got run off for the field in the SEC
title game, which they did, But I still have to
hold value to the victories that they had. And Notre
Dame bludgeoned a bunch of people, but their schedule just
wasn't strong enough to hold up the other And that's
the thing that that's why I would have given Alabama

(01:46:55):
the not over Notre.

Speaker 3 (01:46:56):
Dame even with three losses. You still would do it
that way.

Speaker 2 (01:46:59):
Yeah, because I because I look at the overall resume
and yes, they have three losses, but their wins are
better than Notre Dame's wins.

Speaker 3 (01:47:07):
I think Notre Dame also took a hit because Texas
A and m ended up losing to Texas, and that
was one of their close losses to Texas. A and
m that was a top three team throughout the majority
of the season in the college football rankings. That hurt
him as well. But they shouldn't have had Miami so
far back to begin with. It was unfortunate. They should

(01:47:30):
have had him jump over Notre Dame after they built
back some momentum after those losses mid season.

Speaker 2 (01:47:35):
Yeah, probably after the Syracuse win, they probably should have
had him jump them by a spot. And they just
kept them neck in neck this entire time. It was
so easy. I don't know why they had to make
this thing so difficult on themselves.

Speaker 3 (01:47:45):
The other thing is they're not in the ACC Championship
game because it's some dumb ass tiebreakers out there.

Speaker 4 (01:47:52):
They should have been and that's on the ACC. But
it's also on.

Speaker 3 (01:47:55):
Notre Dame for never wanting to join a conference like
the ACC.

Speaker 2 (01:47:59):
So that's a different thing, Adam, And that's Pete Bavaqua.
They're ad who won on this giant media storm, and
this is his fault out here blaming the ACC for
favoring Miami. Of course they are ACC. They are in
the ACC Notre dame. You want to try to have
your cake and eat it too, and be half in
and half out. You have this pseudo schedule set up
when you play a handful of ACC teams every year,

(01:48:20):
but you don't want to be a full fledged member. Well,
if you're not gonna be a full fledged member, you're
not gonna get the perk like having an extra data
point in the case that you needed, like you would
have had in this situation. If you win the ACC
championship game, it's moot you make it in. But you
want to be an independent. This is what comes with independence.
Sometimes it doesn't break your way. Sorry, people of Aqua.
This is what you signed up for if you want

(01:48:42):
to be in the ACC. If you want to get
an automatic bid for a Power four conference, then damn it.

Speaker 4 (01:48:46):
Joined the ACC.

Speaker 3 (01:48:47):
Okay, do it? I'm with you. The real issue though,
to me, that could fix all of this, But I
don't know if it's fixable or correctable. Why is too
Lane and James Madison in Yeah, we know what it's
gonna happen. We know what's gonna happen. Yeah, like this
is unnecessary, we know what's gonna happen, and honestly, it
could be a disservice to them. I know it's a

(01:49:09):
big deal making it, but then if they get smoked
like James Madison's going to at Austin by Oregon, it's
a bad look to me. That's that's the real gribe.
How do you change this because otherwise Notre Dame's in,
BYU's in.

Speaker 2 (01:49:25):
Yep, I b y you as an argument too, I
think Vanderbilt has an argument, to be honest with you. Yeah,
there's plenty of teams that have that that that were
left out in the cold and it's unfortunate and like
all power digit to JMU and Tulane. Sure. What I
think the solution should be, and I've heard this thrown
out here this week, is maybe there's a threshold we
know when we have to hold the New Year's Six

(01:49:47):
Bowl set up Before the twelve team playoff was created,
you had to fall with that. I think you had
to be ranked in the top twenty in order to
be eligible for a New Year's Six Bowl, regardless of
what your conference affiliation or conference championship status was. Maybe
there needs to be a threshold put into the rules
here for the twelve team playoff whether you're a Group
of five or a power four doesn't matter. You need

(01:50:08):
to be ranked inside the top fifteen in order to
be eligible to be a playoff team. Because if that
were the case, Two Lane JMU wouldn't make it. And
that doesn't completely shut out the Group of six because
Boise State was a Group of six team. They were
in the top fifteen last year, they would have easily
made it. In another solution that people have brought up,
maybe it's not fair, but I think it gets us
to prevent these situations because to your point, JMU and

(01:50:31):
probably two Lane two are probably both gonna get dominated.
Why not have the G five bid or the G
six once the PAC twelve is back yet next year,
just have a play in game four. It so the
automatic bid for the G five, there's gonna be whoever
the two highest ranked G six teams are, they play
each other, one of those teams makes it into the playoff,
and a Power four team makes it in.

Speaker 3 (01:50:50):
I know this is unrealistic because the money's too big,
but I really like the twelve team format. I think
the numbers right because it still gives you a little
bit of controversy at the very end to talk about.
But if there was no two lane, if there was
no James Madison, then Notre Dame's getting in, BYU's getting in,

(01:51:11):
and Texas and Vanderbilt are the two teams being left
out that are closest that just didn't get in. But
I wouldn't feel that bad form I would have felt
like they got it right now.

Speaker 4 (01:51:21):
For selfish reasons.

Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
I feel bad for Vandy being now because I think
it's a great story with Diego Pavia. When Clark Lee's
done down there, I have to see them again.

Speaker 4 (01:51:27):
It would be great.

Speaker 2 (01:51:28):
I as someone who was very anti expansionist, I think
we would talk about this on the podcast for years.
I was like, I thought the perfect number was six,
and you can maybe twist marm and give me to
eight or ten. After seeing this, I'll be honest with you,
I'm actually fully in favor of doing sixteen. I'm fully
in favor of the Big Ten's proposal of automatic qualifiers
and having an ex and basically only having the last

(01:51:50):
three or four spots being selected by the committee. If
you were to do that this year, then you would
have Notre Dame, Vandy, BYU, Utah and USC ALL would
have made the cut and talking about the argument at
the back end of May, who would have made it
and who wouldn't have would have been between the likes
of Utah, USC, Michigan, Arizona and Virginia. Well, this there's
an argument to be made there, but people are not

(01:52:10):
going to be as up in arms as they would
be for twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:52:13):
We'll get to sixteen. But if when we do, anytime
you expand it, what I need to see is more
heavyweights matching up. Yes, because then there will be more
three loss teams getting in. But schedule bravely, go out there,
give us great games because you can afford a loss.

(01:52:33):
That's what it needs to be.

Speaker 2 (01:52:35):
Yeah, that's what the spirit of that expanded playoff is
supposed to be. Because so many teams were scared and
the SEC chief among them, were scared to schedule out
out of conference. They don't want to get an extra
they don't want to get an extra conference loss, and
they schedule these cupcakes at the end of the season
because they value just having an extra win on their
ledger versus who you play against. Now, this committee said
going into the season they're going to change their metric.

(01:52:57):
They were going to actually value who you played, and
I think that's what actually ended up helping Notre Dame
to a certain degree. Those two close losses helped ending
up carrying them to the end of the season until
it ultimately didn't matter, which again shouldn't have. We're talking
about being debated against the team that actually beat you
head to head.

Speaker 3 (01:53:14):
But Texas's argument is we are our three loss team
because we went on the road to face Ohio State
in Game one the National champions and we're being punished
for that. We finished thirteenth, and I get it, but
I would still argue, no, no, no, no, no, you're being
punished to me for losing the floor, for going into

(01:53:36):
double overtime and getting buy off the skin of your
teeth against really bad teams. That's why you're not getting in.
But they're still holding on to that argument, and I
see it, and other teams will make that. So maybe
if you do expand to sixteen, we won't have to
worry so much about teams being timid about playing other
heavyweights because they know they can afford more losses. Therefore,

(01:53:59):
we get better matchups overall, which is I mean, that's
what everybody wants. That pleases everyone.

Speaker 4 (01:54:05):
Yeah, well, to a certain degree.

Speaker 2 (01:54:07):
You're never gonna be able to please everybody, but you'll
be able to please the general masses if you do
something like that.

Speaker 3 (01:54:13):
Yeah, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:54:15):
By the way, if we're talking the Heisman Trophy is
gonna be awarded later today, that's most likely going to
Fernanda Mendoza. Usually the Maxwell Award is a precursor, you know,
to who's gonna win the Heisman. Not always, but most
of the time that's the case. And he did win
that on Friday night, So he's gonna end up winning
the Heisman Trophy most likely.

Speaker 3 (01:54:29):
He deserves it. And to me, the Heisman moment and
people are saying, oh, it happened against Ohio State. To me,
it happened in Oregon. He throws the pick and then
comes right back and drives down the field for the
go ahead touchdown. I couldn't be more impressed. That performance,
to me, was incredible.

Speaker 4 (01:54:45):
Part of me.

Speaker 2 (01:54:45):
We kind of had this debate when we talked about
the American League MVP race between cal Rally and Era
Judge and if the narrative should help carry you to
winning that individual award from when it comes to cal Rally,
to a certain degree, I would understand of Diego Pop
got a little bit of love and won the award.
The narrative of what Vanderbilt was able to do that
program is never won to never sniffed a ten win season,

(01:55:08):
never sniffed the guy having that sort of bravado on
confidence and infusing that into a team like that. So
I think I would not I would be surprised, to
be honest, if he won, But I do think he
should be very close in the running at the top
of the heap, and I actually kind of want him
to win the award, to be honest with I think
it'd be pretty cool to see the quarterback at Vanderbilt,
of all schools. Not that Indiana wouldn't be just as impressive,

(01:55:31):
but to see the quarterback at Vanderbilt, an sec bottom
feeder throughout their entire existence, to be able to win
the Heisman Trophy, I think will be a pretty cool achievement.

Speaker 3 (01:55:38):
You're right, except for one thing. Skip Bayless went to Vandy,
and I can't see him happening.

Speaker 2 (01:55:43):
Well, every goal starts with an assist on and off

Mark final segment here, I don't even feel like doing it,
but we have to.

Speaker 1 (01:56:43):
Two on to on.

Speaker 4 (01:56:46):
I don't understand. Why don't you want to do it?
That's what happened, Kevin? What I mean?

Speaker 3 (01:56:51):
We have an update on two on two off before
we pick two favorites every week and two underdogs every
week in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:57:00):
So I was.

Speaker 3 (01:57:01):
Feeling pretty good about myself after going three and one
last week.

Speaker 2 (01:57:05):
Pretty good.

Speaker 3 (01:57:07):
Only problem is Kevin also went three and one, hope
for real, so I gained no ground. Do not pass, go,
do not collect two hundred dollars. I'm twenty eight and
twenty eight and he's FN thirty one and twenty five.

Speaker 2 (01:57:23):
Hey, you're right, You're in Jeff Fisher status right there. Right, Well,
I guess that's seven and nine, so you're better. So
it's even better. See it's looking up for you, Adam.

Speaker 3 (01:57:29):
First of all, the records are receiving. I'm only three
games back of Kevin, but I've been three games back
of him for like two months now, and I can't
gain any ground. I have a good week, he has
a good week. He has a bad week. I have
a bad week.

Speaker 4 (01:57:44):
Two steps forward, one step back.

Speaker 3 (01:57:47):
One kick in the ass. Look right, how many weeks
we have left? I?

Speaker 9 (01:57:51):
What?

Speaker 3 (01:57:51):
Four? I believe I might have to get freaky with it,
all right, for some evasive action here?

Speaker 2 (01:58:02):
All right? Okay, well, how evasive are you looking? So
let's give me an on? What's your first on for
this week?

Speaker 3 (01:58:08):
I was gonna wait till I got yours.

Speaker 4 (01:58:09):
Well, of course you are.

Speaker 3 (01:58:13):
All right? All right? My first on? I like some
Moms this week, I gotta choose between three here, and
I did give my cast time to choose for me.
I'm gonna go with the Seahawks minus thirteen and a
half over the Colts at home.

Speaker 4 (01:58:30):
I don't give you damn Rivers.

Speaker 3 (01:58:31):
Huh, I don't age is just a number, is right?
He's more experienced. Yeah, five years ago he sucked, as
Greg co Sell said, he couldn't throw the football. Then
what's gonna change now against that defense? Good luck?

Speaker 2 (01:58:49):
My first on, I'm going with the Houston Texans favored
by nine and a half over the Cardinals.

Speaker 4 (01:58:53):
Cardinals are terrible.

Speaker 2 (01:58:54):
Texans offense still a bit of an issue where their
defense is dominant. Like Greg Cosale told us, this defense
might score fourth points by itself against Arizona. So I
got Houston covering the nine and a half points spread
over Arizona. All right.

Speaker 3 (01:59:05):
My other pick on a favorite the Bears the Bears.
The Bears, the Bears Bears minus seven. I put seven
point six. I think it's seven and a half. I
think it's it's minus seven and a half over the
Browns at home. I like the Bears bouncing back. Ben
Johnson's been amazing Caleb Williams. I kind of understood what

(01:59:28):
he was saying postgame about that last throw. He wanted
to give his guy a chance. Yeah, he didn't want
to overthrow him. He just underthrew him way too much.
But I like the Bears bouncing back minus seven and
a half at home over the Browns.

Speaker 4 (01:59:39):
That's actually one of my offs.

Speaker 2 (01:59:40):
I actually have the Bears of the Browns, excuse me,
covering the seven and a half points spread.

Speaker 4 (01:59:44):
So you got you have a separator right there at him.

Speaker 3 (01:59:46):
I needed this.

Speaker 2 (01:59:47):
My other on, I have the Rams minus six over
the Detroit Lions. I know I've been a big supporter
of the Lions, but just too banged up on defense.
The Rams offense is an absolute machine in that young
defense continuing to play well after they ran Arizona off
the field last week.

Speaker 4 (02:00:02):
I don't think they run.

Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
The Lions off the field, but I definitely think they
covered the six point spread.

Speaker 3 (02:00:06):
All right, to the offs, off of favorites on to
the underdogs. Yes, I got Cincinnati plus three at home.
I know Joe Burrow's being a little bit MOPy. He's
not having fun.

Speaker 4 (02:00:19):
You will be too if you were running for your life.

Speaker 3 (02:00:21):
Well, I just expect everyone to rally around him. And
they already beat the Baltimore Ravens once. I think they
can do it again, or at least just not lose
by more than three. Since he plus three, yeah, possible.

Speaker 2 (02:00:33):
My other off I already told you at the Browns
covering the seven and a half points bread to Chicago.
I also have the Chargers five and a half point
underdogs against the Chiefs. I do think the Chiefs win.
Like I said, I'm not going to count them out
until they're absolutely done, but I do think the Chargers
find the way to keep this close. I see this
game being decided by a field goal. All right.

Speaker 3 (02:00:50):
My final off then New England plus a point and
a half at home against the Bills.

Speaker 2 (02:00:57):
All right, Well, good luck to you, Adam, thanks to Mark,
Things to Bree, Thanks than you guys for listening project
and Ila is.
