(00:21):
I'm Marny Span You're on a great sports talk radio night.
How you doing tonight, Torres? Arnie, these are the nights
that we live for. We're coming down in the stretch
of the college football season. We're looking towards the playoff.
Two teams as we speak, potentially basically their college football
playoff on the line. Well, one of them is gonna
(00:42):
be pretty much done. It looks like Arizona State will
beat Oregon. Clock running Oregon, I believe, with only one
time outlet but it's first and ten and Arizona with
a three point lead. What an upset this one was?
How about crushing Oregon's hopes in this one? PAC twelve
not very happy that this up that happened. No, they're
not Oregon was their best chance. Utah will be interesting
(01:05):
if they finished twelve and one, UM, but no Oregon.
They had every opportunity, the path was right in front
of them. After they won that USC game, it really
felt like everything was on the platform they had. Your
Arizona Wildcats dominated that game, this game against an Arizona
State team that had lost three in a row coming
into this, and then they closed against Oregon State over
(01:27):
the weekend. Everything was on a platform. They at least
get to the Pack twelve championship game with one loss
and they couldn't come through. And of course right now Utah,
that was the other half of this little scenario. Lead
my Arizona Wildcats fourteen nothing. Uh No, We're going on
tonight for for my Wildcats. And another game that's pretty close.
(01:47):
That pretty close, It is close Oklahoma TCU three twenty
left in the game. But Oklahoma with the ball it
was fourth down, So I'll have to go back and
switch to that one was I was watching into the
Arizona State game. Yeah, I'll keep you update on that
Arizona State game. But yeah, Oklahoma three minutes left as
you set up another sloppy game for Jalen Hurts. So,
(02:08):
by the way, if you need me for tomorrow for
Chris Plank, you just let me know. But Jalen Hurts
three turnovers, a pick six that was returned like nineties
something yards. He had a weird fumble when he was
running into the end zone, another kind of disappointing effort
for him. I promise you, no way Plank shows up
to work tomorrow. If TCU somehow wins this game, No way,
(02:31):
nohow you know, think no, no, no, And I matter
of fact, I'll start texting him. We'll have all the
listeners start texting him or putting getting holding him on
Twitter if they lose this game. But they got a
fourth and one right now, they picked this up and
it will look like it's pretty good. Um, but I
don't know if they did well. Yeah, I thought I
(02:52):
thought you were gonna say that you were gonna give
out his phone number on air during this show, and
I was gonna say that's not very nice. There any
span here, But yeah, we were were a few seconds
behind you. Uh, that's gonna be pretty close, Artie Span here. Uh,
fourth and one for Oklahoma to basically I wouldn't say
seal the game, but it would have put him in
really good position. I don't think they got it though. Uh.
If they don't win this game. How long do we
(03:14):
wait before we start attacking Chris Pike. I know he
has to do some stuff after the after the game,
but I think we should probably bombard him right away.
I've given out my telephone number by accident over the
year one time. Did you really yeah? I did? Yeah,
my home number. Imagine yeah, my surprise when I got
(03:35):
home and there was a whole bunch of messages for
me on my machine. That was back in the days
of machines. Um, could you imagine if we gave out
Plank's home number or a cell number and everybody started
calling up all great, would that be? Well? I don't
have either, So if it gets out, it is on
Arnie Spaniard. Just let's just clear the air. We're on
four stations nationwide. If that phone number gets out, Aaron
Torre has had nothing to do with it, right get well, look,
(03:57):
just get your Twitter ready at pang show because right
now TCU will have the ball down by four with
about three sixteen left in the game, and we'll see
if tc you can pull off the upset in this
one man um. Otherwise, starting earlier today and by the way,
(04:18):
we have a lot to get to. You want to
be part of the show. Aaron underscore Torres, I'm a
stinking genius one. Um, not a lot of earth shattering
stuff this morning. Um, though I did enjoy the Ohio
State Penn State game. Ohi State raised out and I
said to myself, well, wait around for another touchdown or
two and then you go ahead and get yourself some lunch.
(04:38):
But Penn State made it a game. Um, I was.
I don't know if I was more impressed with Penn
State coming back or disappointed with Ohio State not looking
so tough today. You know, Yeah, that was kind of
the big story and and I think it's gonna be
a big story these next two weeks. This week and
of course next week is the two teams really Ohio
State and LSU trying to position themselves to get top
(05:00):
seed in the playoff. And I thought if Ohio State
dominated today, maybe they could re leap frog LSU, who
has been kind of shaky on defense, because that one
seed is gonna be a factor. You don't want to
have to play Clemson if you don't have to in
that first round game. But Ohio State, they win, you
get the win at home over the ranked opponents, so
you're happy, but as you said, sloppy, A couple turnovers
(05:22):
justin fields, a couple uh fumbles, but Ohio State ends
up beating the best team so far and their schedule
setting up a fun game with Michigan State next week.
You know, I don't want to make excuses. It was
seven nothing. Ohio State goes in for the touchdown to
make it fourteen nothing, but as you mentioned, the fumbull
um fourteen nothing, who knows if it doesn't become a
round at that point, certainly look like Ohio State was dominating.
(05:43):
And then after that fumble, even though they still got
twenty one nothing lead Pence, they came firing back. They
sure did. I should mention by the way, Oregon just
went final. I know you switched over to the Oklahoma game, Arnty.
So Oregon has lost thirty one to twenty eight. They
were ranked number six in the poll this week. We
can just about eliminate them from the college football playoffs.
(06:04):
And it didn't mean to cut you off with the
Ohio State State stuff, but just want to keep everybody update.
You don't let me bring up Georgia also because they
win today nineteen over A and m Um, but not
in grand fashion. Look A and M is a good team,
but Georgia UM should have won this one a little
bit easier than they did. I don't think they suffer
any ill effects in the polls, but it does send
(06:24):
up a warning flag UM that they kind of struggled
in this one, Arnie. And it's the question that we've
had now for months really with this Georgia team. Is
they play phenomenal defense, but are they going to be
able to score enough to keep up with L s
U who clinched their spot in the SEC championship game
today it will be Georgia L s U. Ironically, L
(06:46):
s U closes their season against this same Texas A
and M team next week. But I bring it up
because Georgia, as you said, there are at number four
in the playoff spots, and we spend so much time
talking about Alabama, and before today we were talking about
Oregon in Utah. Bottom line is, if Georgia beats L
s U, they will be in that final four. But
I've seen nothing from them offensively, including today, to believe
(07:08):
that's gonna happen. Right now, TCU is down to their
last chance. It's gonna be fourth and six. Uh, TCU
clamoring for penalty on that last play. They're not gonna
get it. So fourth and six for TCU one seven
left plenty of time and TCU as all their time
outs left. But really the problem is here is they
got to pick up this fourth and sixth or this
game probably over even with the three time outs left.
(07:30):
I you can't really expect to hold Oklahoma, get the
ball back deep in your own territory and um, you know,
and try to go ahead and score. A matter of fact,
Oklahoma holds them, and um, they're celebrating like they just
won the national championship. Well, they survived to the next week,
which is something that Oregon can't say. Let me ask
you really quick, aren't you. We just spent a bunch
of time or at least a minute talking about kind
(07:52):
of that Georgia uh defense. How about Oklahoma? I mean,
they win again, but this is really four straight weeks
where they've looked pretty sloppy. They lost to Kansas State
a couple of weeks ago. Is the Iowa State game
which happened during our game, where they gave up twenty
unanswered points in the fourth quarter, one by one. Last week,
the big comeback against Baylor. They still got Oklahoma State
(08:15):
and then probably Baylor in the Big Twelve championship game.
I'm wondering if that's a team that's gonna win their
next two games. They haven't looked good for about four
or five weeks now. Oklahoma Jalen Hurds has more yards
on the ground that he does passing. Last check, he
had over a hundred sixty five yards rushing only a
hundred forty five yards through the air. Um, you gotta
(08:35):
wonder if a team is just able to shut him down,
Um through the air. Can he do enough with the
with his feet to win a game against TCU, Maybe
because it looks like they'll win this one, but otherwise, Um,
a team that's in the you know, the four team playoff,
maybe not so much. Yeah. And he has had an
interception now in three straight games, and he's had an
(08:56):
interception overall now in six of his last eight. A
couple of fumbles as well. He took four sacks last
week against Baylor. So listen, Jalen Hurts is an incredibly
gifted guy. But the guy that we saw those first
three four or five weeks of the season that hasn't
been the guy that we've seen the last couple of weeks.
And so they got two more games against Oklahoma State
(09:17):
next week. Obviously they're big rival, and then they'll probably
I think almost I think they've already clinched a spot
in the big twelfth championship game. I do wonder if
they they are going to be able to do enough
to win those two games, because they've really struggled here
the last couple of weeks. I gotta tell you, our
listeners are just as vindictive and mean as me. Okay,
you know that because I always root against everybody's team.
(09:37):
I root against Yukon because of you. Against Oklahoma, yes,
yes they did. I root against Oklahoma obviously for Plank.
And of course one of our listeners said, let's go TCU.
That is from Bill out there um before Oklahoma wanted
and then Eddie Texan Plank will be happy tomorrow. I
don't know if he'll be happy, maybe more relieved, a
(09:59):
word that they want. I don't know about being happy though.
There's an old term arnty survive and advance. It doesn't
matter how pretty it is, doesn't matter how ugly it is.
You just get the win, and you move on. How
in all, Seriously, I am curious what has been his reaction.
Do you guys ever talk college football on Sundays? I
know it's a big sun Sunday is a big NFL day,
But obviously with his ties to Oklahoma, does he feel
(10:20):
confident because this is the fourth straight game, like I said,
where they have not looked great, and I could see
a scenario where he's kind of like, I don't know
about this team right now. If if it was a
close game, I'll start the show off um by yelling
go and whoever they were playing, So like tomorrow, go
go TC you and he'll go, what you didn't watch
the game? You didn't watch the game? By go I did?
(10:42):
I figured you probably turned it off as you were
crying and you couldn't watch it through your tears. And
we'll go back and forth because they won. I don't
know if you ever said they won, and you know
he'll get all assaulty. I know the athletic director at
the University of Oklahoma listens to the show also, so
he gets very defensive about as Oklahoma sooners. So maybe
it should be the opposite, maybe instead of saying go
(11:04):
team that they already beat. It should instead be go
team that they're playing next. So maybe you open the
show to marsand oh, I'm feeling good about those Oklahoma
State Cowboys. Next week might see Mike has me down,
Mike goes in tweets and um, I guarantee this is
how tomorrow night show will begin. All right, let's go.
I'm already spanning youre My co host. Chris Pike is
(11:24):
not here. We have not heard from him since last
night's lost. Please anyone in Oklahoma right now check on him.
I'm a little warried for him. So that's what would
have happened had Oklahoma lash. Yes, that would have been
my opening. I do that at least once or twice
a year when when Oklahoma I was gonna say they
didn't lose tonight though they didn't. They're up four. They'll
(11:47):
have the ball on their own forty two. It's third
and one, So, like I said, they pick up the
first here, I don't think they have the guts to
go for it on fourth down. I don't know if
they pick it up. Do you have the guts to
go for it on your own forty two yard line
on a fourth and one or two punt? The ball,
and um, see if they can drive the length of
the field and you gotta punt the ball, right, what
(12:09):
am I talking about? Yeah, you gotta punt the ball.
TCU does have one time out left, so they know
they just use the last one. Yeah, so they couldn't
stop the clock if you get that fourth down. I'll
tell you what. These games are phenomenal, So let's reset
that up. Aren't Because Oklahoma, we thought the game was sealed.
They get the ball back. It is now fourth and one.
Tc you just used their last time out. There's a
(12:30):
minute twenty five left. Uh, you're a little bit ahead
of me because I'm here in the l A studios
and you're I guess you have futuristic TV in Vermont.
But um, if Oklahoma goes for it and gets a
first down, the game is over. If they punt, tc
would basically have to go to the length of the
field with no time out in about a minute in
twenty seconds. That's a tough call. I feel like Biff
(12:51):
from Back to the Future. I don't have the Almanact,
but I've got the special TV. You do. It's unbelievable.
You're you're about I don't want to say thirty, but
maybe about ten twelve seconds ahead of us. Here. See,
maybe I should take up gambling. You should tell me
what to bet. Yeah, exactly. All right, when we come back,
we'll continue going through the top updates on this Oklahoma game.
(13:12):
How about U, C, l A, and USC get a
little bit into some robberies. And I gotta start ragging
on Alabam and Auburn for their strength of schedule after
what I saw today. So all that's coming up next
right here on Fox Sports Radio. Alright, great news, everybody.
There's a quick and easy way you could save money.
Just switched the Geiko. It only takes fifteen minutes to
(13:34):
see if you could, say fifteen per cent of more
and car insurance. Go to geigo dot com and see
how much you could save. He's Aaron Torres. I'm anty Spaniard.
I guess they did get the first down Torres um on.
Of course, the TCU fans not happy about that. Um.
They take it a couple of knees. Oklahoma goes onto
the victory. Twenty eight twenty four. I saw what you
(13:56):
tweeted out? Was it about an hour ago? Uh? Talking
about how you don't think any of the top four
teams are really, Um, all that great, I guess is
the word I want to say. Oh no, and I
definitely didn't say that. What I said was And this
is an argument that you and I have gotten in
the last two years, UM, is that we we we
bang the drums so much for playoff expansion. But look,
(14:20):
Oregon just lost, Oklahoma has looked lousy the last four weeks.
Baylor does not have a significant win on their resume. Minnesota,
we're gonna find out, but they're gonna get smoked by
Ohio State in the Big Ten championship game. Where So
we want to expand to an eight team playoff. Most
years we have trouble finding four worthy teams. This year,
there's obviously there's three teams that are very clearly a
(14:41):
cut above everybody else. I forgot to mention Georgia, who's
probably gonna lose to l s U. So I'm just saying,
if if we want to stick it for that's fine.
I just don't see why or what the reason is
for eight teams. Right, let me, h lift up your
chin so I could slap slap you around. Hr. We
got h. Well, you know you say there's you know
(15:02):
and maybe this year you're actually a little bit right.
You can maybe find fault in the top four. And
I guess if we took eight, you'd find fault in
the top eight. But I don't hear you saying that
about the NFL. A matter of fact, if you take
a look at the a f C, we rag on
the Patriots offense like a wide receiver. Um, they've got
offensive problems. Tom Brady is upset. Otherwise, we don't like
(15:24):
anybody in the a f C except Baltimore Ravens talking
about teams that, um, you have question marks about, right,
and by we don't seem to have a problem with
that though. Yeah, I mean I think the NFL is
a little different because there's so much parity in that sport,
and like you know, we say there isn't, but there
really is. Um. Now, how many teams can win three
to four playoff games to win the Super Bowl, I
(15:46):
don't know. But like, I'm just looking at college football
this year and I'm sorry, but but once you get
past that first three, you can't tell me. Maybe this
Utah team that's smacking around. Speaking of smacking around, how
about your Arizona Wildcats laying down um, uh you know, listen,
there's not teams that can compete at the highest level
with these teams. So I get it. I get the argument.
(16:08):
I think I know everybody thinks more is better. By
the way, Arredy, do you remember those college football playoff
games last year? They were both duds. Alabama smoked Oklahoma
on Clemson smoke Notre Dame. So it's just kind of
a thought that I've had. And then tonight I think
frankly kind of backed up that thought. Well, more is better.
And I'm gonna tell you why because um though and
and here, and it should be you know, pretty easy
(16:30):
for you. But you're the college basketball guy. Um, look
at what we have in the n c Double A
basketball tournament, and it's not because of the top four
teams when we get to the final four. It's because
of the first round and the upsets, the magic. That's
what we love about the n c Double A tournament,
the more the little teams that pull off the upset,
not so much the final four, which is what you're
(16:52):
getting four in football, I don't think. So get some
water and come on back. There's a big a friends
between uh you know, uh duke losing in the second round.
I know they didn't lose in the secon roun last year,
but hypothetically, uh, to a team that it's five on five,
upsets happen in basketball. I just like, I don't think
(17:14):
that if you. I don't think the team that's number
four is gonna beat LSU at number one. So now
we're gonna take the eighth place team, which is probably
gonna be a two or three loss Michigan team or
a Penn State team or Wisconsin or Oregon or somebody
that's already lost bad games throughout the year. Now we're
gonna put them in a playoff and we're gonna expect
(17:34):
them to beat Ohio State or or l s U.
It makes no sense to me. All Right, you could
reach us Aaron Underscore Tours. I've in stinking genius one
one team that won't be part of the four team playoff? UM,
Western Carolina, by the way, are they in the SEC?
Because they seem to be playing you know Alabama? Lot?
I do they? Are they in the SEC? I'm not
(17:55):
sure about that. I'll have to double check that. Could
you looked that up from me? Or what? I'll tell
you what you can criticize Alabama. They look awfully smart
right now, they played their big games early in the year.
They get to play Western Carolina. Now, I bet Oregon
wishes they had the chance to play Western Carolina tonight. No,
this is wrong, Aaron. That's wrong playing playing Western Carolina
and playing Sanford and Sun and schools like this. They
(18:17):
played Sanford and the Sun. Come on, that's tough. First
of all, I mean, if you can't schedule and beat
a Rutgers in Arkansas UM and you know, I know
they're in the same conference, but like in Arizona, somebody
a major conference even though they're a bottom feeder, and
then you really don't deserve to be in the fourth
team playoff. You don't schedule Western Carolina so you could
(18:40):
beat up on them. And by the way, it was
sixties six to three, could have been a hundred and
sixties six to three, I'm sure of it if they
wanted to do that. Nobody wins, except for maybe Western
Carolina and Sanford because they get the UM money and
get to bring it back to their school. But this
is ridiculous when you have to go that farlow to
schedule a team that yeah, I'll say this is it's
(19:01):
something you know. Joe clad who's the voice of college
football for Fox Sports. He he says this, I don't
know if it's Western Carolina so much. What I'll tell
you it is is this is that what college football
needs if you want to make it a fair playing field,
it has to be universal scheduling. Because I don't have
so much of a problem with playing Western Carolina. But
(19:22):
the SEC plays one less conference game than Oregon they
play or excuse me, and then the Pact Twelve, then
the Big Twelve, then the Big Ten, and so it's
a strategic advantage. The a CEC plays one less conference game,
and so to me, I'd like to see all the
teams play the same number of conference games. I'd like
us to say, if we're gonna play the Western Carolinas
or whoever, it has to be in September, I I
(19:45):
don't like it, but you just don't play the Western Carolina.
But Oklahoma played South Dakota earlier this year. Um, you
know you don't do that either. That that's not any
better either, But I don't see you complaining in uh
September when Ohio State is playing whoever they're playing in
Oklahoma is playing South Dakota. I was the king of complaining,
(20:06):
saying we didn't have a good game on the schedule.
We didn't have top matchups. We only had what the
Oregon uh Auburn game. I was complaining, like crazy, we
didn't have good matchups. You'd know that. I I just
think that if we're gonna do these games, I listen,
you can't have a top twenty five matchup every single week.
It's it's mathematically impossible. I just think that, First of all,
(20:29):
I don't blame the SEC teams for doing this. The
people that run college football allow it to happen. So
take advantage of of whatever. What I don't want to see.
You're breaking rules, you're not breaking rules. Whatever way you
can take advantage of stuff, take advantage of it. Because,
like I said, I bet Oregon wishes they had scheduled
Western Carolina this week instead of in Week two or
whoever they played, they played Montana or somebody like that.
(20:52):
So if the SEC is gonna take advantage of it,
good for them coming into a game like that. What
do you say to yourself, if you're Western Carolina or Sanford,
what do you say, don't get hurt and you don't
really think you're going to win, do you. I do
you just say, let's try to score, let's try to
lead the game. Three nothing. I I don't know what
what is the goal in a game like that? Well,
you say you play to win Appalachian State, Appalachian State
(21:14):
beating Michigan. I don't know if you remember that one. Army, Yes,
of course I know. North Dakota States won a couple
of these the last couple of years. Chris Plank, Army
almost beat Oklahoma last year. Yeah, that's true. But a
big difference between Army and Samford and a Western Carolina though. Um,
you know, and I again, somebody could get hurt pretty
bad if you're on a Western Carolina or a Samford.
(21:36):
Just just just just not equal playing field. Um. I
just think it's shameful when you're allowing Auburn or in
Alabama to do something like that. Something has to be done.
You just can't. You know, if you want to schedule
an easy fine, but it can't be like that. That's
just ridiculous. Sarah. Yeah, No, I mean I think that
it has to come from the top of college football.
(21:57):
As long as the powers that be in college football.
Let these SEC and a CEC teams. As you've alluded
to a couple of times Clemson played Wafford a few
years ago. By the way I looked the other I
looked right now, Clemson plays some school called the Yukon
in November in a couple of years, which they'll beat
up on a hundred fifty and nothing. Uh So, listen,
I mean if the powers that being listen, my my
(22:18):
biggest thing. If I was the commissioner of the Pack twelve,
the Big ten, or the Big twelve, I would be
demanding some kind of uniform playoff because those are the
people that get screwed. Don't feel bad for the Waffords
and the Sanfords. Don't feel bad for the viewers on
TV because we have other games to entertain us. Feel
bad for an Oregon that actually scheduled a real team
this week and was punished for it. Well, was punished
(22:40):
for it, and well the first of all, they had
Arizona State, so that's the conference game. But you're talking
about the Auburn game. They didn't really get punished for
the Auburn game. Who didn't get punished? Yeah, Oregan wasn't
punished for the Auburn game. No, Oregon was punished tonight
because they're playing good teams and at the end of November,
when everybody else is playing cupcakes, I see they're the
ninth pack twelve game, and I guess you're yeah, exactly
(23:01):
and that And that's my point is I get where
you're coming from, Martie. I just think if if I
was running college football and I was running one of
these power conferences, I'd be mad that my teams are
out here playing real games late in the season when
the SEC isn't all right. When we get back, I
want to get a little bit into that U S
C U C l A rivalry. I was supposed to
do that here, So we'll touch on that more on
the top. First, though, Let's see what's trending as we
(23:24):
check in which the saga for the first time tonight.
What's going Hello, gentlemen, and preach it that the n
c A has no spine at the top to actually
make uniform schedules of every conference having to have either
nine or every conference having to have a make it uniform,
because exactly what we saw tonight, it doesn't matter that
(23:46):
Oregon's opponent had lost four straight games that Oregan's opponent
was two and five in conference. You always know that
road games in conference are losable because they don't fear you.
They see you every week. It's unlike ridiculous matchups we
get in the SEC every November. Wait a minute to saga.
Wait a minute. The n C double A did send
(24:07):
the message when we didn't take those at TCU. How
many years ago when the Big twelve didn't have a
conference championship game and they changed their mind real quickly. Now,
didn't they write something like that? But they didn't go
to two divisions And the SEC not only went to
two divisions but expanded into fourteen teams and still hasn't
gone to nine conference games. What all we're asking is
(24:28):
that the SEC or a c C that you just
play Kentucky or Missouri or some normal team, just another
conference opponent, instead of paying to have the automatic win.
Alabama sixty six to three over Western Carolina, which is
three and nine, Auburn fifty two to nothing over Sanford,
which is not a winning team either at five and seven,
(24:49):
And by the way, Alabama in the first month of
this season played New Mexico State, Southern miss and Duke
and had a couple of buys I believe, plus Western Carolina.
So it's just ridiculous every year in the South in
college football, and it needs to be made otherwise made.
Someone needs to force them to get on board. The
(25:10):
conferences are doing well, guys. We have six college football
games going on right now. In fact, on FS one
it is number seven ranked Utah leading fourteen nothing at
air They are driving for more final they're putting a
second back on the clock for Utah at the one
yard line. It said zero. They're cheating. I thought you
(25:31):
were intimating that the Utes are like the Houston Astros
of college football. He was down with one second to go.
They can run another play here. Also, it is uh
Colorado leading at home over Washington thirteen nothing, a minute
to go till halftime. There third quarter at Washington State
Cougar over Oregon State. Twenty ranked Boise State now leads
(25:53):
seven at Utah State late in the first quarter. It's
Nevada of fourteen seven at Fresno State in the second
and the late game is hot Hawaii. It's Hawaii seven
nothing over San Diego State late in the first quarter.
That's a big league considering the offense we've seen from
the Aztecs this year. Somehow, San Diego State is eight
and two and they'll be in a bowl game as well.
(26:13):
Speaking of they'll be in a bowl game, the Miami
Hurricanes will and they lost to Florida International tonight former
Miami coach Butch Davis. In fact, early fourth quarter, this
was at the Marlins Ballpark, early fourth quarter. F i
U was up twenty three to three, thirty to twenty
four over the Miami Hurricanes. The final USC over U
(26:35):
c l A fifty two to thirty five. Navy beat
twenty five ranked s m U thirty five to eight.
Now Baylor beat Texas today, and you couple that with
the Oklahoma win tonight or TCU, and we've got a
Baylor Oklahoma Big twelve championship game. Baylor just lost last
week to Oklahoma head to head UH Georgian Ohio State
(26:57):
each one at home. Arizona State with the upset tonight
at home, beating number six Oregon thirty one to twenty eight.
Justin Herbert two touchdowns, two interceptions in the loss. Arizona
State went three for three on short field goals. Oregon
had one nine straight since the close opening day, lost
to Auburn, but somehow lost at a s U tonight.
In the NBA ten games total, and they're all final
(27:18):
now because Utah just won again one twenty over the Pelicans.
The Utah Jazz are eleven and five this year. Milwaukee
one at seventh straight, Lakers won their seventh in a row,
and Chicago Zach Levine scored forty nine points, including the
game winning three. I guess he's fine with his coach now,
or that was take that couchair anyway, The Bulls win
(27:41):
one sixt fifteen at Charlotte. Back to you all right,
thanks to Segre. Welcome back to the Fox Sports Radio studios.
It's brought to you by Geico. It's easy to say
fifteen for center more in car insurance with Geico. All
you have to do is go to Geico dot com
or or even give them a call on nine four
seven auto. The only hard part figuring out which way
is easier. He's aeron Torres. I'm already Spaniard. Get ahold
(28:03):
of us an aeron underscore Torres. I'm as stinking genius one.
Did you get to watch any of that U C
a USC game? Quite entertaining, high scoring game. Of course, Um,
you know it didn't come down to a last possession
or anything, but um, people were you know, we're out there,
they went ahead from southern California went out there to
watch this with good crowd out there. Yeah, it's it's interesting.
(28:26):
Uh USC is hitting its stride late in the season here.
I know we're gonna get to it in a minute.
But if that was Clay Hilton's you know, swan song,
it was a heck of a swan song. Fifty two points.
They threw the ball all over the field and USC
actually closed out the season looking pretty good this year.
Before we even get into the game and Clay Helton
(28:48):
and all that, I'm just wondering because you had U
c L a USC Um. You know, you had uh
Penn State Ohio State, even though that's not even even
a rivalry. Really, UM, I just don't feel like we're
getting the you know, the these matchups. We're not getting
the luster, you know what I mean, the the you know,
(29:08):
the the national field fort like we did um with
the Michigan Ohio States. Do you see a USC s
these rivalries, they're just not doing it for me this
year I guess that is what I'm saying. Well, I
mean we have Ohio State, Michigan. Next week, we have
Florida Florida State. Next week we have Washington Washington State.
We have Oregon, Oregon State. We got the Apple Cup. Yeah,
we got um. Also, what am I missing here? There's
(29:31):
a couple of other big ones. Oklahoma Oklahoma State. They
call that one Bedlam. We got Baylor Kansas. Okay, that
one doesn't count. Um. I'm just looking right now at
the schedule. Yeah, it's it's weird. It's always like this,
where the week before the big rivalry games, it's always
a little light. At least we got Ohio State, Penn
Stay and a couple other good ones today right now?
What did you think about Todd Helton? What's going on
(29:53):
at USC eighting for as you mentioned, um, a lot
of speculation and what's going to happen happen to him,
And I think a little bit unfairly to to be
honest with you, So I'm with you, Arenie. I mean, listen,
I think the argument, and I think it's a fair
argument if you're positive that you have urban Meyer lined
up or some other elite coach and put aside what
(30:14):
you personally think of Urban Myri. He's a heck of
a football coach. If you think you have that guy
lined up, then yeah, okay, go ahead and fire Clay Hilton.
But if you're just gonna fire him and think that
you're gonna be able to figure this out on the fly,
I think it's awfully hard to walk away from a
guy that went eight and four this year. Uh first
year with kind of the new offense, they looked really good.
(30:35):
They beat Utah, which right now is gonna be a
top five team come you know, or at least the
top six team come Monday or Tuesday. I'm with you, Arenie.
I know we want to just fire everybody, but sometimes
you're not always positive that the replacement is going to
be better. Now, what about the lack of five star recruits,
especially from southern California that was mentioned today on Twitter
(30:56):
by a lot of people. Well, the recruiting basically has
suffered because everybody's assumed that he's gonna be fired. And
so that's where if you're a USC fan that's adamant
that we gotta start this thing over. Okay, I get it,
and I'll tell you why it's it's two reasons. One,
like Clay Helen's probably not the long term answer. I
think we can all agree with that. So whether you
bring him back for one more year, whether you do
(31:18):
it now, at some point you're probably gonna replace him.
But then I think it's a great point by you, aren't.
The recruiting has really suffered. Kids are afraid to commit
to USC, as great of a program and as a
school as it is, they think that the coach is
gonna be gone by the time they get there next year.
So I think the USC A D. They have a
new a D that just got hired a few weeks ago.
They he's got a really, really tough decision to make
(31:39):
as far as this is concerned. All right, again, you
want to get in errand underscore tours, I'm it stinking
genius one. Um. Of course Christine wants to know that
you find Plank yet. I haven't texted him yet. I
was gonna leave him alone. They did win, so he's
gonna be in a good mood. He never looks at
the bad side of things, like, gee, we narrowly escaped
the victory. Um, So I may go ahead and badger
(32:00):
him a little bit if you want to badger Plank,
you could reach about Twitter at Plank show, so you
can do that. See. I was gonna say, you know,
we're busy hosting a show. Maybe it's best if we
just give out his phone numbers so people can call
and check in on it. I don't have it, so
it would be up to you whether you want to
go through with that or not. Just a suggestion, just
a thought thinking about that. Well, throw that out a
little bit and see, we'll see what podcasts to say
(32:22):
about that. Uh. Mike says, I don't care Folklahoma one tonight.
I agree with Aaron. They haven't looked good for about
a month. Arnie. You need to go at Plink hard
about that soft team. Wow. People want to go at
Plank real hard about what they saw today with the victory. Yeah,
I mean listen, it has been in and listen. You
survive in advance like we said earlier. But it's been
(32:42):
four straight weeks dating back to the week that they lost.
They won by one against Iowa State, which they gave
up twenty points in the fourth quarter. They fell down
by a ton of bailor to their credit, came back
in one, and then today to TCU and we just
saw it, Arnie. There was some questionable refere reading down
the stretch there with that last spot. So I'm just
(33:04):
telling you they don't. I'll say this, they do not
look like a team to me that is capable of
winning a championship. Right now, Will says, Hey, that jackass
thinking genius is the Justin Herbert of sports radio. That's
pretty good, over all hyped clown that underperforms when it
matters most. Is that fair? Well, not to me, but
to Justin Herbert. UM not a great game. I saw
(33:26):
some people on Twitter attacking him, saying his stock will drop.
You don't judge him over a four year UM look
at college. You just judge, you know, based him on
UM one game against Arizona State. That I guess is
what we're what we're doing here. Well, I mean, listen,
he lost to Auburn earlier this year and he basically
threw a touchdown on the first drive of the game,
and then that he didn't throw a touchdown the rest
(33:48):
of the game. Let me ask you, you've watched him
for four years too, aren't he You're a Dolphins fan.
Dolphins probably aren't gonna get that number one pick you're
gonna need a quarterback. If they said that this guy
is our future, would you feel good about that? I
don't know if i'd feel good because I like the
other quarterbacks. I still think I would like to uh, um,
you know, I still think I would like Joe Burrow um.
And I still think maybe I would go with some
(34:08):
of the veteran quarterbacks that maybe um, you know, not
released or just be free agents or whatever. Uh. In
the NFL, I'm not so sure where Justin Herbert fits
on that scale. He probably comes out at number like
seven or eight. After everything. Yeah, I I listen, I
I wanted. I haven't seen anything from him. He looks good,
he looks the party. He's big, he's got a big
(34:30):
strong arm. But like, I don't see that guy putting
his team on his back the way that Joe Burrow has,
the way that Tuah did before he got hurt. I'm
just saying I think there's there's enough good players at
other positions that unless I was positive that he is
gonna show me something that I haven't seen in college,
I don't know that I draft a guy. Honestly, Well,
update the late games and the NBA wants to do what.
(34:55):

(35:16):
Wildcats trail Utah fourteen nothing that game at the half
and the NBA wants to go to seventy eight games,
which I'm okay with. Received conference finals, which I guess
I'm okay with um postseason play in which I may
be okay with, but this in season tournament, I'm not
(35:37):
crazy about that. I know, I don't know. I'm not
the only thing. What it's useless? What what happens when
you win that? I I don't understand why I do
that though. I just don't understand how you can't get
NBA players to play two games in a week and
now you're gonna get him to play like three games
in four days or something like like you know, I
sent you the tweet earlier. But Frankie Solo, who does
(35:58):
stuff with the athletic heard him on Our Are a
bunch of times, you know, as a guest. He said, like,
if there's anything that was ever built for load management,
slash just taking a day off, it would be some
kind of tournament like this. I'll say this, Arnie. Listen,
all these sports want to do all these things to
re engage fans, like you know, Baseball wants to lower
(36:20):
them out whatever. Baseball has a million ideas, Basketball has
a million ideas. Here's my idea for the NBA. Just
get your best players too, freaking play every night. Ratings
are way down. But I also just think that it's
the reality of the players, and it's something you and
I have talked about a million times, is that the
players are telling us that the regular season doesn't matter.
(36:41):
By the way, credit to Lebron James, who was playing
his butt off this year, But guys, what difference doesn't
And I'm just gonna jump in there, what diffen doesn't
make If the players are saying it doesn't work, the
fans are saying it doesn't work. In baseball, when we
say it takes too long, we want to have a
pitch count and you know, at certain things to speed
up the game. Also in baseball. And that's what I
mean is like with baseball, I just think that you know,
(37:03):
at some point you're gonna take away what is the
essence of the game, and it's it's too much, you know.
And we had to say her last week there was
a I think on an Olympic qualifier where there was
a runner starting on second base every inning and it's like,
that's not baseball. But with basketball, listen, I get it.
Some of the stuff, like you said, I don't have
I don't have a problem with, like you know, a
play in for the final few spots in in the playoffs.
(37:24):
I think that's pretty clever. I think that's cool. Games. Yeah,
but I just think at a certain point, what it
comes down to is there are seven, eight, nine, ten
guys that everybody wants to see play, everybody wants to
see when they show up into their town. And if
they're taking off one every three games, that's gonna affect
ratings and bottom line, is it too much of a workload?
Though for the players, No, it's not think about that
(37:47):
for a second. I mean, I listen, they they say
like Janice, like you have to tear him off the court. Now,
Now there's two questions. The one question is is it
too much? The answer is no, But has it been
proven to be effective which in the most important spot
winning championships? And the answer is yes, because, as you
and I discussed every week, Arnie Kawhi letter missed twenty
(38:10):
regular season games last year and it helped him at
playoff times. So I think that's the big question. It's
not can they handle it? They can, it's is it
actually better to not play these games? And then you
gotta start solving it from there. Are we takering too much?
Weren't There's supposed to be a correction and the East
will go ahead and become these recovers will become better
and we don't have to rearrange us and recede because
(38:32):
eventually even outer we've started to panic a little bit
or what Yeah, I think the league is starting to
panic because the ratings are down, the numbers are down,
and guys aren't playing, and so I listen, I don't.
I'm not like frustrated that the NBA is trying to
get creative. But it's like we talked about all the time,
aren'ty we we've talked about this. They they've done things
(38:54):
to get guys to play, and they're still not playing.
They've elongated the season, they've given a longer all Star break,
guys still aren't playing. So I think the commissioner just
gotta put put his foot down and say, if you're healthy,
you gotta be out there on the court. We've eliminated
a lot of back to back games. Um, I don't
think we do that nearly as much. I know we
don't do it nearly as much. The travel is a
lot better, so it is kind of shocking, um that
(39:17):
we still have to go through the load management and
you know why there's a problem, and is it really
that much of you know too much? Especially when the
playoffs come around too. But we'll get to all that.
Look our one, we just crushed that, that's in the books.
We just flew on by. We'll come back, reset, finish
off the top. Get ready for Week twelve in the NFL.
You want to get him Aaron underscore Torres, I'm it's
(39:41):
stinking genius one. So get your tweets and we got
a lot of those. I gotta do a better job
at that hour two coming up here Fox Sports Radio.
Good evening, everyone, as we're coming to you live from
the Fox Sports or radio studios. It's brought to you
by Geico. Fifteen minutes can save you fifteen percent more
in car in turns. Visit Geico dot com for a
(40:03):
free rate quote. He's Aaron Torres. I'm already Spaniard. You
could reach us on Twitter. Aaron underscore Torres, I mean
stinking genius one um getting a lot. We'll have to
go to Twitter and a little bit, Torres, we'll finish
out college football, will start getting into the NFL. By
the way, Torres, and you're young, what do you like
(40:24):
fourteen years old? Pretty much seventeen. I'll be eighteen and
a couple of months, and this is tough for you
to answer. I probably need an older guy like this.
The thing is, I'm sophisticated. You know, I carry myself
much more maturely than you do. The Sakers in his seventies,
I believe so. Um, you know, he's been around the
block for a while. So maybe I will have the answer.
(40:44):
Maybe our listeners can give us the answer on this too.
I heard Jonas talk about this, but once again, he's young,
and he did a bad job doing it, so um, well,
you're just full of compliments. For your coworkers. Hate to
criticize everybody, And I said, I actually sent this into
Gargan to win Lincoln Kenny this morning. UM. I don't
know if you remember Fred Cox, the kicker for the
(41:05):
Minnesota Vikings. Um way before your time, like I said,
your four team he um. He passed away. He was
eighty years old, one of the best kickers, one of
the better kickers in the NFL. The reason I bring
him up. He was also the inventor of the NERF football,
where they took a foamy substance and took a mold
(41:26):
of a football and said, hey, look at this, this
thing really flies, and they started to hold NERF revolution.
I wonder how much money he made over that. But
I heard Jonas talking about this, and of course he
did a bad job. He goes, what is your favorite
sports or your favorite sports toy, and he goes the
whiffleball or invention the whiffleball bat or something like that.
(41:49):
To me, it should be what is your favorite sports toy,
like the NERF football, or the pitchback, or the electric
football game, or that basketball game that they called basket
that flip the little metal things in or to me,
remember rock'm socking robots boxing. I used to love that thing. Um,
I don't know if you'd say this is a sports toy,
(42:11):
the big Wheel. I don't know if you remember the
big Wheel. You don't remember the big You're making me
sound old, You're making me sick. You know that. I
want you to know all that. I'm just what did
you have a favorite sports toy when you were like
two years old? Is you're only five now? I'm just wondering.
First of all, could you have set that up without
crushing Jonas? I mean, he's a nice guy. You didn't
(42:31):
have to go after him. He's gotta I could have
set it up without, but I wanted the crush them anyway.
I'll say this, the NERF football is pretty pretty awesome
because you can bring it to the beach, you can
throw it around in your backyard. Uh NERF football. I
don't know man who hasn't had a good time just
chucking around the NERF football. To me, I used to
look and I love the nerve, But to me, the
electric football game, I would spend hours upon hours it would.
(42:55):
You know, you plug it in and you set all
the men up and then you goes and it would
never move anywhere but in circles, and you get all
frustrated and you set it back up all over again.
As we do it all over again, you get paid
extra for all these sound effects. I mean, we got
the Wildcat, we got the electric basketball. You're you're good,
You're like, uh, Frank Caliendo over here, Yeah, thank you.
(43:17):
But I used to love the rocket when I was
a kid. The Rockem sock and robots that was. That
was just hours and hours upon fun um back there.
Nowadays you guys just play video games. So I was
gonna say, do like, does like Golden t count Buck Hunter?
I mean, that doesn't count. What's wrong with you? There's
a question. It's like a game, but on the TV
(43:39):
screen instead of in fun of you. And it's so funny,
was I asked Eric Roberts, Because I don't know what
sports toys are. I'm ten years old, so you know,
it's it's shameful that you guys don't know what to
this day. I have a basketball hoop up in my
front room. My fiance hates it. What the little the
little over the door. It's not over a door, it's
like a thumb tacked into our wall sheet is not
like it, but I love play it. I was. I was.
(44:03):
I was so poor I couldn't even afford that type.
So I would take a hanger you know that you
hang your clothes up on and bend it open, and
then unbend the hanger apart and stick it into the door.
And then I would take notewick paper and put it
around it, and that would be my net. And that's
that's that's what we would do. You were so poor
you had to use a hangar for your basketball whop,
(44:24):
but still played hours of electric football. Something to tell
these guys, they don't even know what toys I'm talking
about are classics that talking about. I know what you're
talking about. I just you make up this pity party
story about you got to use a clothes hanger and
now you you have nowhere to hang your one shirt
(44:46):
and you know you had to walk eight miles back
and forth up in the snow drifting. Remember remember the
basketball game with a little ping pong ball and it
would fall into the hole and you have to pull
the thing back and try to make the bucket. Actually,
we had NERF basket of ball as well as NERF
football at ours That's probably what I played the most.
You could set up a hoop up against a door
and have an entire nerf basketball game in your dining
(45:08):
room or something and running into walls and of course
things would come off the walls. And maybe the parents
didn't appreciate that as much as the kids. The electric
football game that is classic old school, the Big Wheel.
I must apologize still to my aunt in Manhattan Beach
for breaking their's I still feel bad about that. There
was also one additional There was a thing a card baseball,
(45:28):
where like in the pop tarts box, you actually had
a thing where just with regular playing cards, if you
turn over a two of whatever, that means a groundball
to short turn over or whatever, and that means and
you could play entire games with a regular deck of cards,
all the sports that had different ones. It was great. Yeah,
I wasn't. I wasn't that. Don't play Rockham socking robots.
(45:50):
That was the best. What is wrong with you? Never
Rockham socking rolls? I know exactly what it is, and
it's before the Mike Tyson thing. Kids. You're not push
knockoffs exactly exactly. Jeez, these kids, they don't know what
they're talking about now. But Fred Cox was the kicker
on all of those Super Bowl teams that the Vikings lost.
(46:10):
He was the kicker on literally all of them. That's
how long he played. And then you know, invented the
NERF football in the seventies. I guess they must have
made a boatload of money. All right, we got a lot.
By the way, if you had one of if I'm
missing one, you can get ahold of us on Twitter.
Like I said, uh, Aaron underscore tourist, I'm instincting genius one.
Um just finishing off the top twenty five, finishing off
the day in college football. UM, no, really earth shattering
(46:34):
stuff though. We did start with well, excuse me, your right,
Oregon with the loss. But we did start with the
Penn State Ohio State game where Ohio State at the
twenty one nothing we would look like they were gonna
boat race Penn State. They come back with seventeen. Don't answer,
but still it was too much or else they gets
the touchdown that was the difference maker. UM not impressed
with Ohio State finally went up against a a little
(46:56):
bit of a better team and just showed UM some
of their flaws, right, now, yeah, And I think that's
gonna be the big conversation going forward. Is Ohio State
had a chance to make a statement. They were, of
course number one got surpassed by LSU and l s
U beat Alabama, and I think there was some talk
of could Ohio State, with a couple of dominant wins
this week against Penn State next week against Michigan jump
(47:19):
leap frog back into that number one spot. I think
it's gonna be really tough. Like you said, Arnie, this
was the first they had Wisconsin, but it was the
first really big test of the season. Certainly look good,
certainly looked like a top four team, but they didn't
look like that dominant, elite UH consensus number one team
that they had the chance to prove that they are. No,
we didn't bring up l s U. They had no
(47:40):
problems with Arkansas UH fifty six to twenty, and I
think they I still don't believe Arkansas I got twenty.
I want to recount on that Joe Burrow another good
day or twenty eight a little bit over three three
touchdowns there, But no thing we're shattering here. We knew
LSU was gonna win the game. Only think I'm surprised
that they didn't win by more than thirty six. I
I know they had a bigger lead than that, and
(48:01):
they probably just laid you know, laid off Arkansas. So
lsu dominated. I want to go back to Ohio State
for a second arity. Because we talked about Penn State.
They played them at home, they played Wisconsin at home.
I gotta ask you Michigan, who we haven't talked about.
They won thirty fourteen today. They've scored thirty eight or
more points in four straight games. They're playing really possible.
(48:23):
They have no offense. I thought, that's what I'm saying. Listen,
I'm not gonna come out here on Saturday night here
a week before these games and say Michigan is gonna win.
But I think Michigan is quietly playing better than a
lot of people think. Right now. What do you think
about that? I think if you're are you trying to
say that Michigan is gonna be the Ohio State. I mean,
I literally just said, I don't think they're gonna be fired.
(48:45):
I just said, I you said, just because you tried
to play both ends, you tried that you go. I
don't know, but I'm just saying, I'm just saying you
played both ends. When you do that, I asked if
you thought Michigan, all I said was while of already
more boy, I know what you're trying to do, is Michigan.
Do you think they can be more competitive than people think?
(49:06):
As Utah just went up twenty eight? Nothing on your
Arizona wildcasts, but I know that that one's getting out
of hand. I have to turn that game off. H
It doesn't make it if it's being more competitive, This
isn't uh you know, uh, you know, getting the participation Trophy.
The question is can they beat Ohio State? After what
you saw Penn State do against Ohio State, can Michigan
do some of the same. Can Michigan's offense score against
(49:27):
that Ohio State funck Eyes team? Or was why I
doubt Ohio State was looking ahead because Penn's day was
a pretty good damn team. So can can they learned
something from that Penn State defense or offensive? Excuse me? Well,
and that's what I'm thinking because look at Ohio State's
road games this year at Indiana. Who's okay, Indiana seven
and four right now, they're fine. Nebraska is five and
(49:48):
six right now, so there are no world beaters. Uh,
Northwestern is one of the worst teams that I've seen
this season. There two and nine right now in Rutgers.
So those were the four Ohio state road games so far,
at Indiana, at Nebraska, at Northwestern, and at Rutgers. Only
one of those teams has a winning record. They obviously
play at Michigan next week. I'm just saying they haven't
(50:09):
they They didn't look great against Penn State, and they
haven't played a road game anywhere close to a team
is talented as Michigan. I just think it could be
more competitive than people maybe think. By the way, Justin
tweets and hey stink and Genius. If Stink and Genius
is the Justin Herbert of radio, then Torres is the
Tenor Morgan of radio. Highly skilled, vastly underrated. Herbert looks
(50:30):
like a fourth or fifth round pick tonight, wobbly ball,
not accurate enough for NFL windows. Morgan will be a
better pro. He's the quarterback from Minnesota. Yeah. I just
like that. He said that you're the Justin Herbert of radio,
which I agree, and that I'm the underrated rising star.
I'm like Joe Burrow. Every week, I'm a little bit better,
to the point that you're like, wow, is that guy
(50:51):
the best guy going right now? Because he's looking pretty good.
Uh So, yeah, no, I I I like the analogy,
But Justin Herbert, I'm telling you, if I had a
first round pick, I would not use it on Justin Herbert.
I haven't seen enough in those big moments to believe
that he's a franchise quarterback. So are you saying that
he'd be a starter for your team if you got
him in the third or fourth round? Is that? Does
(51:11):
that make sense? I mean, if he's not good enough
for a first round you're like, what do you think
you're lightning strikes twice with the Tom Brady in the
sixth round or what? It's a great point. I mean
it's one of those. Would you draft him at all?
I mean if I needed a backup, you know, if
it was you know, if I would not talking well,
then I wouldn't. I wouldn't draft him if I was
expecting him to start, If I was needing somebody to
(51:33):
start next year, I would not draft him. You would
rather go with maybe a veteran that scoring to be
released or is making too much money or something to
that effect. Ye, to the point that you brought up earlier.
Any whether it's Cam Newton, whether it's Philip Rivers, whether
it's Andy Dalton, Mitch Drabinsky, Uh, maybe I'm Mitch Bisky,
but the rest of them I would trust a little
bit more than I trust Justin Herbert. Listen, it's great
(51:55):
that he has all the physical tools. At some point,
you gotta win big games, and I don't know where
the big games are that he's what about two? How
far is he going to drop? I know we have
to know more about him, but he's not going to
work out. He's not gonna do any drills. Um, you're
really not gonna know anything. We're not gonna know anything.
We're just gonna have to go ahead and on blind
faith and from the reports that are out there. So
how far does he drop? Yeah, it's really interesting. Listen.
(52:17):
I don't believe that he's gonna drop too far, just
because it's exactly what we've just been talking about. Justin Herbert,
there is too much value at the quarterback position, and
two has been so good that Listen, I think by
the draft will have a pretty good feel for how
long is the recovery. How much better do we think
that he's gonna get physically, Like what percentage will he
(52:39):
ever get back to, etcetera. And I don't think he's
gonna fall too far if he passes the basic kind
of medical tests because I just don't think there's enough
good quarterbacks out there. I think you take a chance
on to a. I think he'll end up going in
the first round. I think he'll go in the first
half of the first round. Before it's all sit and done,
you want to get in real simple eron Underscore Tour Ris,
(53:00):
I'm at stinking genius one. Well, finish off the college

aid Aaron underscore Torres, I'm a stinking genius one. By
the way, have you been to a Laker game or
Clipper game out there yet? Or or you still haven't
been to a game since I've moved here this season?
Well this season, I'm at this season. Yeah, no, I
(53:44):
haven't been this season. My mom was actually in town
a few weeks ago. We were gonna go the night
the Clippers played I think the Raptors, which would have
been the Kaoir reunion game, but we weren't able to
make it. Wow, is it tough? Is it tough to
get tickets? Or are expensive still or what? Well? The
Clippers tickets at night were fourteen dollars, so no, no stopping. Yeah,
(54:06):
I don't. I can't tell you about Lakers, but I'm
guessing the Lakers probably little bit more. Yeah, slightly. I
would think just listen, when we get this mid season tournament,
I mean, who knows, I mean, maybe they'll be more expensive,
less expensive, maybe Kauai'll actually play every night. Who knows?
Are you? I still don't understand this mid season tournament.
I And by the way, you could there's a possibility
(54:27):
with the mid season tournament that you could end up
playing eighty three games. I thought were you're you're laughing,
but you're playing one more game than when we're trying
to accomplish here. You know, so maybe this hasn't been
thought through very well, is what you're saying. I just
want to know. Are we at a desperate situation here?
I know the ratings are down. I know people complain
(54:49):
about load management. I know, so they also complaining about
the Eastern Conference compared to the West. But has it
gotten to the point where we have to make drastic
changes like this? I personally don't believe. I think what
we have to do is get the best players on
the court in the biggest games, and it just seems
like it just seems like that's harder than it, for
(55:09):
whatever reason, than it has to be, because look, I mean,
we've changed all these rules and we've expanded the season,
and there are still guys sitting out these national TV games.
You know what I saw which I thought was interesting,
Our buddy Clay Travis said this. He said he thinks
that if players sit out for load management, they should
have to sit in the stands and sign autographs throughout
the game for fans. In other words, like like you know,
(55:31):
give the fans a reason to show up if you're
not gonna play. I actually like that a lot, because, yeah,
I just I just feel like something's got to be done.
I understand what you're saying, Arnie. What you said earlier
in the show is can these guys handle the an
two games schedule. I think they can, But I also
think it's been proven that it does help to be
a little bit refreshed in the playoffs. But I don't know, man,
(55:53):
I I just look at it from the consumer's perspective,
and I don't blame fans for not wanting to show up,
and I don't blame ants for not tuning in when
the best players aren't playing. Aaron Underscore Tours. I'm it
stinking genius one. Just finishing off the college football Dan
Wilkin from USA today, I believe I put out a
tweet I thought was kind of interesting. It says, if
Michigan beats Ohio State next weekend and finishes ten and
(56:16):
two with wins over Ohio State Notre Dame in Iowa,
they have to be in the conversation for the number four.
Things totally fall apart kind of what you were saying.
A little bit tours. You're like, we have to might
after recognize Michigan. I don't think things will totally fall apart,
but who knows, There's been crazier stuff in college football. Well,
they'd have a pretty impressive resume. I'll say this is
(56:36):
that quietly, I know, we we love to just crush
Notre Dame, but like they're quietly again, really really good
this year. Uh, they're only two losses right now, are
that Georgia game earlier in the year at Georgia and
then at Michigan. That's a good win. Um, Obviously, I
think winning against Ohio State would be as good of
(56:57):
a win as anybody's had all year, except maybe l
s U at Alabama. I would have to see does
Oklahoma finished with one loss? Does you Tough finish with
one loss? Does Baylor finish with one loss? But I
do think they would at least be in the conversation
for number four if they beat Ohio State. Alright, Aaron
underscore tourist, I'm instinking genius one. Let's get to the NFL.
Pull up the schedule. Let me start with this, what
(57:19):
is the best game of the weekend, the best game
tomorrow or Monday Night Now started off by telling you, um,
it's not the Packers and forty Niners like everybody thinks
it's gonna be, or even the Ravens Rams. It's gonna
be the Cowboys and the Patriots. Um. First of all,
the fact that Edelman is banged up and they're not
gonna have Mohammed Sanu and that Tom Brady is on
(57:43):
the injured list even though he's going to play. We
know the Patriots don't have enough offensive weapons. Defensively, Yeah,
they're a great defense, They're not elite like everybody's making
them out to be. I think the Cowboys can steal
this one. I'm dying to see what Dak Prescott's gon
to do against this Patriot defense because they're making so
much about it. And as Ezekiel Elliott gonna come and
(58:05):
return the form, this is the best game of the
weekend towards. I love this game really quick. I'll get
to my best game in the weekend in a minute,
but I want to bounce it back to you what
you make of the midweek Antonio Brown rumors. Now we're
hearing it's not true. I do think it kind of
plays to a point that you just brought up though,
is that you start looking at the weapons that the
Patriots have. I mean six eight weeks ago or not
(58:28):
six eight weeks ago, but the beginning, it's easy. Antonio
Brown and Josh Gordon, both those guys are gone obviously
at this point. Rocks not coming back. I was just
curious about the Antonio Brown stuff because I think that
is going to be a real issue for the Patriots
when they get in the playoffs. Well, it's going to
be an issue. But the ship has sailed on that one.
There's no coming back from that. There's been too much damage.
He said something against Robert Kraft. He brought up that
(58:51):
legal issue that he had, um that we've talked about
a long time ago with the massage power overall, Um,
the ship has sailed. I don't think the patre it's
I think that was just some bad rumors. I don't
think they could ever take Antonio Brown back. It's it's
just too much, too much dirty water there fair enough. Well,
I will say this really quick on Patriots Cowboys. Listen,
(59:12):
number one offense versus number one defense. And as you said,
this Patriots team has been struggling the last three or
four weeks. I mean really, even going back to that
Cleveland game, Cleveland had surprise, surprise, a bunch of really
bone headed mistakes that cost them a lot. I mean,
Nick Chubb had that huge run that he fumbled as
he was going into the end zone. So I bring
it up because the Patriots have struggled offensively. Cowboys are
(59:35):
the They're not the highest scoring offense, but they put
up the most yards of any team in the NFL.
I would not be surprised by the upset at all
with New England. But I'll say this, I do disagree
with you. I think the game of the Night is
at night Sunday night, Green Bay at San Francisco. I
think that's a potential NFC Championship game between these two teams.
Preview n all of a sudden, people are knocking Jimmy
(59:58):
g saying it's the Deep and is carrying the forty Niners.
And if the forty Niners was this one, they could
go from a potential number one seed to the number
five seed where they don't even get a home playoff
game with the wild card and they have to play
that wild card game. But all of a sudden, the
forty Niners are getting question about Jimmy g Yeah. I
think they took advantage of a pretty easy schedule early
(01:00:19):
in the year, but I don't know if now is
the time. I mean, listen, if their kicker could make
a field goal, they would have beaten the Seahawks the
other day or a few weeks ago, excuse me, on
that Monday night game. And then last week he threw
from four touchdowns against the Cardinals. And I'm not saying
that he's Drew Brees or that he's Patrick Mahomes right now,
but I think he has taken a little bit too
much heat relative to the fact that he has. The
(01:00:41):
San Francisco forty nine are sitting a top to division,
the top arguably the toughest division in football. Uh, there's
still nine and one. I think he's taking a little
too much heat. Honestly, I wonder how Aaron Rodgers gonna
do against that San Francisco defense. Uh. You know, part
of me wants to think that maybe the Packers pull
off the upset, not even really an ups at, and
then another part of me thinks that watch out man,
(01:01:02):
San Francisco's defense too strong. Aaron Rodgers gonna go through
a real tough time in this one. Yeah, I think
two things working in the favor of the Packers as
they are coming off to buy. And then I just
think the way Aaron Rodgers plays, he isn't Tom Brady
that that drops back in the pocket. I mean he
can get rid of the ball so quick, so many
different arm angles. That offense is so designed to to
(01:01:23):
be able to still move the ball against the defense
like this. I think, I actually think Aaron Rodgers will
be okay, all right. The team that must win on
Sunday or Monday, the team that must win. Um, I
gotta go with the Philadelphia Eagles. They're five and five,
they're playing at home. I know they got a tough
opponent against Seattle, but you drive the drop the five
and six. Um, Look, it's already tough enough to try
(01:01:46):
to make the playoffs. You're not gonna make it as
a wild card. You're gonna have to win the division.
Cowboys could lose to the Patriots, who mean, you have
had another chance to close that gap. They gotta win
Philadelphia otherwise I think their seasons over see, I disagree,
and I'll tell you why. Well, I'll tell you why.
I I did a little homework before the show. Aren't
you proud of me? First time ever? There they listen
(01:02:07):
to their schedule to close the season at the Dolphins,
not very good, Giants at home, sorry, Arnie, not very good,
at the Redskins, definitely not good Cowboys, and at the Giants.
So four out of their final five this is Philly
at Dolphins, two games against the Giants and against the Redskins.
I do think they can get on a run even
(01:02:28):
if they lose this game. The team that I think
has to win. I feel like I say this every week, Arnie,
but I think the Rams are just kind of keeping
their head above water right now. I know they won
last week against the Bears, but this offense, it doesn't
look good. But you win this game, all of a sudden,
you're in position down the stretch. You still play the
forty niners, once, you still play the Seahawks, once the
(01:02:49):
possibilities are there. But I think if you lose this game,
with the back half of the schedule the way that
it is, they play the Ravens next week. By the way,
this is one you gotta get if you're the Rams,
if you're trying to go to the playoffs, Jesus, you know,
talking about having to win a game, and they're the
Ravens standing in your way who desperately want that number
one seed over the Patriots, and possibly could if the
(01:03:11):
Patriots was to the Cowboys. Then all of a sudden,
the Ravens are are tied with the Patriots, and they
got the tiebreaker for Beatium earlier this year. But I
think after you know, the Ram game is another team,
I would say, yeah, they need a win. Dropping the
six and five, then you might have to go and
scratch them off. We'll come back. We'll talk more about
the games coming up in week twelve. That's next. First though,
(01:03:33):
let's see what's trending with our buddy, the Sega. What's
going on to sa Hello again, gentlemen, And you are correct,
Aaron about the ticket prices with Lakers and Clippers as
much of a contender the Clippers are. It's a Lakers
and Dodgers town and has been for decades, and any
other team, as great as they would be, would still
be third place. I love that cheap fourteen dollars, correct
(01:03:54):
the Lakers. Some of the upper level seats you can
get around fifty dollars for some games, There are some
Lakers games this year where the upper level sea that's
our hundred dollars or more. Whereas the Clippers there are
tons of games that thirty dollars or less to get in,
and yes, some games about ten bucks to get into
a Clipper I think that once the roster was assembled
(01:04:16):
and people thought, my goodness, this is gonna be a
great Clipper team and it is. People for scalpers thought,
all right, we're gonna make a kill in this year,
unaware of may I repeat out loud, it is a
Lakers Dodgers town. The Clippers are not the Lakers, and
it's gonna be a long time if they ever will be.
You think somebody would be. You think that they're being
(01:04:36):
some people going and throwing up that though, oh they
get attendants and they have loyal core fans. It's not
like there's empties all over. I'm just saying, as far
as the demand that would drive up prices, that's not
there because they're not the Lakers. We can update the
boxing on pay per view from Las Vegas, heavyweight Deonte Wilder,
apparently trailing in the sixth round against a veteran from Cuba,
(01:04:58):
Luis Ortiz, thirty one and one, or Tease, said to
be age forty. He left Cuba about a decade ago.
Yahoo at one point reported that Wilder is doing nothing
so far tonight. Wilder in February would be fighting Tyson Fury.
We'll see about that. This one's not over tonight, but
not looking good for Deontay Wilder, who's forty one oh
(01:05:19):
and one. As for the late college football, Oregon State
has scored four touchdowns in the fourth quarter to take
the lead fifty at Washington State. And there's two minutes
to go in this game. Of course, it's on Pack
twelve network, so almost nobody can see it in this
country network. Congratulations. I live in l A and I
can't get the Pac twelve network, but already lives in
(01:05:41):
a freaking cabin in the woods. And get it. Yes,
I do, Yes, in Vermont and I get it. And
seventh rade Utah leads in Arizona twenty eight. Nothing late
in the third quarter. Do we get a wildcat growl? There? No?
Come on? Zero? Yeah, that's about all it's worth. Tonight
early in the fourth quarter at Colorado, it's the Buffs
(01:06:03):
twenty seven over Washington. Boy, how the Mighty of falling
Washington could be six and five after tonight. Just for
the record, twenty rank Boise State has a halftime lead
of forty two to seven at Utah State. It's twenty
nine degrees at that game. Fresno State early third quarter
leads fourteen over Nevada, and at halftime at Hawaii predictably
(01:06:23):
low scoring case. San Diego States involved Hawaii seven three
over the Aztecs at the half. Now we had Oklahoma
and Baylor each winning at home. They'll each be against
each other in the Big twelve title game, even though
we just saw this last week when the Sooners beat Baylor.
But Okay, no divisions there and first will play second place.
Number nine Oklahoma survived at home four over TCU nearly
(01:06:46):
blew a twenty one nothing first half lead. Fourteen rank
Baylor beat Texas twenty four to ten. Georgia and Ohio
State each had home wins, but Number six Oregon lost
at Arizona State tonight thirty one in fact a s
U seven with only eight minutes left in this game,
Oregon got three late touchdowns to make it interesting. In
the NBA, Lakers won their seventh straight Milwaukee one at
(01:07:09):
seventh in a row college basketball in Connecticut with the
tip off classics seventh rank Virginia over U Mass and
Arizona State came back to beat St. John's eight to
sixty seven. Not only is Boise State football rolling, but
Boise State basketball won in triple overtime over Pacific and
the preseason All American Center of Memphis James Wiseman is
(01:07:31):
suspended until mid January and nonetheless for sixteenth ranked Membis
attendance was about eighteen thousand today and the Tigers won
eighty six over old Miss spect are welcome, by the way.
I just want to give you credit. You called the
near upset of Vermont against Virginia this week from I
played really well in that game they did. That was
(01:07:52):
a fun game to watch. My Catamounts gave it a
good run and had a lead just too much for Virginia.
Was just too tough for the end. That that was
a good game. Yeah, you called it. You told Bernie Fretto,
you said, bet all of uh a fifty points spread. Yeah,
they covered with these and Vermont beat mighty Central Connecticut today.
Danielle Marshall is their coach Central Connecticut. Yeah, he went
(01:08:14):
back to Connecticut. You know, I think Calhoun made have
may have green some palms to get him that job.
But hey, whatever you're saying, Jim Calhoun has some pull
in the state of Connecticut. Sounds crazy, but he's like
the Arnie Spaniard of Connecticut, the way Arnie is in Vermont,
the way Arnie is in Vermont, only the exact opposite.
That's Jim Calhoun. Okay, thank you, Welcome back to the
Fox Sports Radio studios. It's brought to you by Geico.
(01:08:36):
It's easy to say fifteen for some more in car
insurance with Geico. All you have to do is go
to Geico dot com or give him a call one
seven auto. The only hard part figuring out which way
is easier. Um. The worst game of the weekend, the
game that you have no interest whatsoever. Um out there,
(01:08:57):
and that's you. There's several for the taking on this one,
but I would probably have to say Tampa Bay Atlanta. UM, yeah, please,
you know, flex that one out to no game. If
you canceled that one, I would have no problem mat
In fact, tickets are plentiful for that one. Let's that
one to the PAC twelve networks. Since you're the only
(01:09:17):
one that gets to the PAC twelve network in the
entire country, exactly because I I don't even have I
can't even give you a storyline other than maybe nothing.
I can't even make one up. I'm sorry, I there's
no storyline for that one. I don't care about that game.
It's so funny you say that because I think there's
an obvious one, which I'll get to in a minute. Well,
actually there's two really obvious ones. A lot of bad
(01:09:39):
games this week, there is, But I am so over
the Falcons. I'm kind of bummed. U not to surprise, uh,
spoil the surprise, but you and I are working on
Thanksgiving night and the Falcons play that night, and I
wish it was literally anyone other than the Falcons. Even
there's like two of the two of the three games
are bad games. Yeah, That's what I'm saying, is like,
even if it was like the Cardinals, at least k
(01:10:00):
the Murray's fun to watch. Even if the Cardinals aren't good,
the Falcons are just bad. By the way, I would say,
the worst game, oh, it's a toss up your New
York Football Giants against the Bears. Well, I was gonna
say Detroit sans no Matt Stafford against Washington is pretty
bad too. That's a bad one. I should pick that one.
(01:10:20):
That's a real bad one. Detroit, they had their soul.
They have not been the same team since that game
against the Packers at Lambeau where they, um, you know
that that game where just they got all those penalties
called against him. I think they've lost basically every game
they've played since that game. Uh, what's gonna be the
closest game of the weekend, one that maybe go to overtime,
(01:10:40):
come down to a field goal. I'm thinking the Ravens
Rams that you brought up earlier. I know a lot
of people are saying take Baltimore lay the three. The
Rams are not done, but you know they've got a
lot of question marks about them. I think the Rams
put up a good fighting This's when I think that's
what comes down to a field goal and uh, and
you know maybe two and overtime game. I think this
is gonna be the closest game of the weekend. See
(01:11:02):
I disagree. I just think Baltimore is so explosive offensively,
and um, the Rams are just really struggling to score
right now. I know the Rams are at home. But
I actually like the Ravens to win that one pretty
convincingly in terms of a close game on my end. Uh.
You know, listen, I'm thinking. And this is another one
that's not very sexy. Oakland at the Jets. Uh Listen.
(01:11:23):
The Jets have been playing reasonably well against bad competition,
back to back wins against the Giants and the Redskins.
Oakland traveling cross country. Oakland's believe it or not, in
the thick for a wild card spot. I think they win,
But because of the travel, because the Jets are playing well,
I think that one could be close. Aaron Underscore Tours,
I've been thinking genius one. Let's check in with Steve
(01:11:44):
the Seger with a boxing update. Got a little bit
of a news for us. To a shocking finish in
Las Vegas on pay per view. Heavyweight Deontay Wilder, who
was unofficially down six rounds to none, has won by knockout.
In the set up, he is still undefeat it at
forty two oh and one. He beats the veteran Luis Ortiz.
(01:12:04):
Last year, Wilder had stopped Ortiz in the tenth rounds,
so now apparently it goes forward on the schedule. In February,
it would be Wilder against Tyson Fury. This one came
out of nowhere. I would say, what did mean? What
did he hit him with? What was straight? Right? And
he hit it after essentially not throwing many punches the
first six rounds, just saving it up for the seventh.
(01:12:24):
But Wilder does win. Unbelievable on that. Appreciate that the
seg um. Yeah, so I asked you the closest game
you gave that when you were saying Raiders jetson, I
gotta tell you that's kind of a stinker also, but
at least the Raiders got something to play for. Yeah,
I mean, listen, the Raiders are playing pretty well here
these last couple of weeks, and they're in the thick
(01:12:47):
of the playoff race. Like I said, I think if
the season ended today, I think they'd actually get the
last wild spot. They would get the last wild card spot.
But imagine this, Uh, they're only half a game behind well,
Kansas City seven and where the Raiders are six and four,
So they're tied in the lost column with Kansas City. Yeah. Well,
Kansas City has the head to head win from the
(01:13:08):
beginning of the year, but they get another shot out.
Oh no, I'm just saying it. Listen, we criticized John
Gruden a lot in the off season and last season,
and has the game passed them by. I've been really
impressed with this team, especially considering we talked about it
for a month straight, but their travel schedule throughout the
early part of the season was brutal. I'm enjoying it
seeing them have a little bit of success. Yeah. Um,
(01:13:30):
I could you imagine if Kansas City doesn't win that
division and they have to go in as a wild card?
How crazy would that be? And I'm still not sure
that the Patriots are gonna go ahead and cruise all
the way to the Super Bowl. I still think that
they could run into a couple of tough games. Was
their offenses just stink a real? Yeah? I mean that's
exactly it is. Both of those Well, that team the
(01:13:50):
Chiefs that you just mentioned, and then the Ravens obviously,
who already have the win against the Patriots. I mean,
they put up a lot of points, and I know
that the Patriots defense is good, but you start talking
about if you can get to seventeen twenty four points,
I don't know, in a playoff setting, if the Patriots
can necessarily play kind of kind of go back and
forth and go score for score, they've got to win
(01:14:11):
games a certain way. And there are definitely teams in
the a f C that can give them problems. Did
you see Brady with bitter beer face last week? Um,
on the sideline, just being all upset. You know, first
of all, he didn't even throw a touchdown past it
was Edelman that through the touchdown pass. This is will
come back and bite them in the backside. Uh, if
they don't get themselves another weapon, because even the running
(01:14:33):
game doesn't look so good with Sony Michelle. I know
they're getting guys say you win back on the offensive line,
but that doesn't seem like it's gonna cure everything. Well,
and that's why I asked you about Antonio Brown a
minute ago, because it's clear that that is a gaping hole,
a big problem for them. Um is just in terms
of just creating real offense, sustained drives, big plays, all
those things, and like you said, Tom Brady is frustrated.
(01:14:56):
That's why I was curious about the rumors that kind
of popped up this weekend. Obviously they kind of died
down as we got into Thursday Friday. I still think
it's kind of fascinating think about nonetheless a right the
Sea will join us next, give us more on the
Ortiz Wilder fights. So we'll get a update on that. Uh,
we'll go ahead do that next right here on Fox
Sports Radio, all right, could even think everyone, this segment

it with the saga. Everybody talking about that fight on
(01:15:38):
Twitter right now. Unbelievable that a guy could, unofficially, according
to Yah, who be down six rounds to none and
then late in the seventh win on a knockout. But
that's what happened on the pay per view about in
Vegas heavyweight Deontay Wilder's still the BBC champ and still undefeated,
and I assume fighting against Tyson Fury in February, like
Rocky Balboa, that's yeah, okay, if Rocky does nothing the
(01:16:02):
first six rounds. It's just like that, and we had
an incredible finish in that pack twelve game. Well it's
not quite over, but Washington State, despite allowing four touchdowns
in the fourth quarter and falling behind Oregon State, Washington
State runs for a touchdown with one second left to
go ahead fifty four fifty three over the Oregon State Beavers.
(01:16:24):
Of course it's Oregon State against Oregon next week. Was
taking the luster off that game. How about this second
craziest game that Washington State has played this year? Behind
that UCL What was you sealing up like third down
thirty four points I think in that game and it
wound up what sixty n sixty three or one of
those types. But that is now a final. Washington State
wins one of these fifty four fifty three and their
(01:16:45):
quarterback throws for over six hundred yards, six touchdowns and
three interceptions. There was it or nerf football if you will,
but if yeah, this is a total of forty eight
points were scored in the fourth corps, including game winning
touchdown forty eight points in the fourth quarter at Wazoo. Tonight,
(01:17:06):
seventh ranked Utah is up thirty five nothing at Arizona.
Now early in the fourth quarter, and they're about to
start the second half in the cold at Utah State.
Twentieth ranked Boise State leads forty two to seven on
the road starting the third quarter every game forty two
to seven. I thought this one would be closer, not
just on the road. But Utah State wasn't bad this year.
(01:17:27):
This is my good A pounding three three touchdowns in
the first quarter, three more touchdowns in the second quarter.
The other two games still going. Colorado up to fourteen
over Washington about eight minutes left, and mid third quarter
Fresno State at one leader against Nevada. Now, we had
the s C U C l A game at the
l A Coliseum that you mentioned today and fifty two
(01:17:49):
thirty five s C was the final. Was there a
good crowd? Seemed like a good crowd I was watching
on TV. Yeah, not a sellout even with the reconfigured colisseum.
But considering I thought it was a very good crowd
because during the years and the perception I should say,
of these two programs currently in l A. But how
about this for a stat of the day. Clay Helton,
for those who want to fire him back in when
(01:18:12):
he took over his first full season, he started two
and two in home games. Since then, Clay Clay Helton
is twenty four and four at the l A Coliseum.
They probably they all probably came last year too. I mean,
he had one bad year. Listen, I get it. If
you know Urban Myers coming, it's one thing. But I
think it's pretty tough to to fire a guy that
(01:18:33):
just went eight and four if you're just gonna go
into the market and just assume that you're gonna be
able to find somebody without knowing for sure. And USC
with all the offense, I mean the freshman quarterback, and
remember this was the third stringer that they've been using
for most of the season. Keaton Slova's guy who was
in high school in Arizona last year. He threw four
touchdown passes and through for five hundred fifteen yards. By
(01:18:54):
the end, USC had four different wide receivers with over
a hundred yards each, four receivers with a hundred yards.
Navy beat twenty fifth ranked s m U thirty eight.
You know how Navy runs usually. The Navy quarterback Malcolm
Perry had thirty eight carries today for a hundred ninety
five yards and two scores, and that included with about
(01:19:15):
six minutes left, a seventy yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Well,
Memphis and Cincinnati, we must repeat, could be meeting in
their conference final. Memphis will qualify for its title game
if it can win at home Friday against Cincinnati, and
then it would play Cincinnati all over again for the
(01:19:35):
Oklahoma and Baylor each one at home. And guess what
the Big Twelve finals gonna be. Oklahoma against Baylor, which
we just saw last week when Baylor blew the lead
and lost at home to Oklahoma. We're already you're already
preparing for the Sunday Night show. And Chris Plank, the
sideline reporter, I can see that Minnesota and Wisconsin each
(01:19:57):
one next Saturday. It's Minnesota hosting Wisconsin to decide their division.
And there's a fifty percent chance of snow in Minnesota
for that game. Minnesota with the home game there, and
Michigan with the home game on Fox TV Saturday against
Ohio State twelve pm Eastern. There is a chance of
rain or snow there in Michigan at the moment for Saturday,
(01:20:19):
I'm supposed to get five inches tonight. What are you
talking about We're supposed to get five inches of snow tonight.
Thank you the Sager. Two hours or in the books,

comes up on after us. After this show, we'll see
(01:21:05):
what the Vegas perspective is. What are they saying in
Vegas about the games coming up tomorrow. We'll get to
that also, UM, I heard the Segre saying all the
bad weather, Torres, We're getting five inches of snow coming
up tomorrow morning. So I don't feel bad for these
football games are getting a little snow or rain out there.
You feel like five inches of snow in Vermont, that's
like a warm spring Day. Well, it's not that tough.
(01:21:26):
It's not that big big of deal. What does it
take to actually cancel like elementary school? Like two ft?
What do we got? No, we got You got about
a good ten to twelve inches in like a you know,
twelve to twenty four hours. That will shut it down
for a little bit. Yeah, that's good. Down a little bit, yeah,
five nothing. By the way, you mentioned we're working on Thanksgiving.
(01:21:48):
I'll be here. You'll be here. Yeah, but are you
gonna be are you gonna be all tripped the fans
down or whatever? Or is that just a I'm professional,
I'll eat I'll eat early. Is that really true about
trip the fan anyway? That I eat a bunch of turkey.
I'm never all tired when I have done eating. By
the way, I'm not a turkey guy anyway. So I
just do Thanksgiving for the stuffing. I love stuffing. Give
(01:22:11):
me as much stuffing. Why don't we eat stuffing more
than one day a year? It's like, why don't we
ever just like, yeah, you know, what do you have tonight? Yeah?
I made a little meat loaf and some stuffing, Like
you don't just have stuffing on Tuesday in July. You
know it's it's only Thanksgiving. I don't get it. No,
It's like, what do you make it with other than turkey?
When does your you know, wife say, hey, guess what
(01:22:33):
I made? Um, that's what I'm in stuffing, hammer and stuffing. No,
you hot dog and stuffing. You don't get that. That's
what I'm saying. You know, you're not. It's not the
middle of summer. You're like, Yeah, I'm gonna throw a
few burgers on the grill box of stove topping. Got
a new restaurant for you, Aaron Torres World of Stuffing. Okay,
that could be going. Think about that for a little bit.
(01:22:54):
Okay about it all right, I thought about it's not
that good. But um, I want you to know something,
even though we've been doing the show almost the two
years now, ratings through the roof. Um, how about if
I told you I have a surefire plan to make
us the number one radio show in all of the world,
the United States, all the world, whatever, I'd I'd say,
(01:23:18):
I'm pretty excited, but I feel like we're already there basically.
But go ahead. I'm sure I could Okay, I could say,
I I know for a fact, I can make us
number one in the world by because I know a
few tricks to Paul, and if we do this, stuff
will be number one. I'm concerned, but also nothing nothing wrong,
(01:23:39):
nothing illegal or nothing. I'm not going to jail, no, no, Now.
The only trick is though, I'm not going to tell
you because out of respect to the other stations I
used to work for in Los Angeles. Kind Of like
Eric Weddle who doesn't want to say anything to his
new team because they're playing his old team, And he
said due respect to his old team, he doesn't want
(01:24:00):
to give up the plays or the secrets to his
new team. Could you imagine if I said we could
be number one, but I don't want to tell you
Torres because of respect to my old radio stations, you'd
punch me in the face. If I was a tea
I'm sorry. But if I was a team in the
Verick Weddle, him and I got a serious problem right now,
I would say one that I would love to punch
(01:24:21):
in the face. Anyway, to Weddle, sounds like the kind
of guy that finds a hundred dollar bill on the
ground and brings it to the police station. So I'm
with you. Uh you know, listen, this is part of
the deal. Like my analogy. Though you didn't like my
radio and I like the part where I get to
punch you in the face. That sounded really that was
the part that if that's gonna make us the number
one show, then sign me up. Happened to do that?
(01:24:42):
You could you imagine if I said, I know what
can make us number one, but I'm not gonna tell
you what of respect to all the other stations I
used to work for. I mean, come on, that's ridiculous.
You're you're playing football. You go from team to team.
Everybody else does that. There's no code that you don't
give up secrets from the team you just came. You
help your new tea team. I think this is ridiculous.
I've seen Bill Belichick literally sign a guy for one
(01:25:04):
week just to know what the other team is doing.
Sin last year for us to the Patriots, it was
two years ago. I remember because I was filling in
with Andy Furman, and Andy Ferman got Bill Belichick on
as a guest and the first thing he asked was
about James Harrison, and Bill Belichick was not happy about it.
But listen, I think this is part of the game. Um,
(01:25:27):
you know you we're not giving up nuclear codes here,
come on. And and I would also say I'm sure, yeah, Like,
I'm also pretty sure that the Ravens have probably expanded
their offense quite a bit as Lamar Jackson has got
more comfortable. But you've changed it up a little bit. Yeah,
you help where you can. I'm a percent with you.
I think that's kind of week by Eric went All.
Be honest, that's like saying, oh, you know, if you
(01:25:50):
change teams, um, well not, what are we gonna do.
Number one is a fastball, Well why don't we make
number two a fastball? Mix it up a little bit.
You know, you change it up a little, but you
you've got to give up the secrets to help your
new team. Um. And especially if you know any secrets
that could possibly stop me from getting hurt or something
and you don't tell me, then I got a real
(01:26:11):
problem with you. You know. Yeah, I'd like to see
the Astros come up with a system for this. Bang
twice really loud if it's a run, bang once if
it's a pass. But no, I mean listen, first of all,
this is professional sports. That's one and two you're competing
for a playoff spot. This isn't Pop Warner every now
you listen. This is what professional sports is about. I
(01:26:32):
believe that anything that is not against the rules, if
you're not taking performance enhancing drugs, if you're not doing anything,
you take advantage of it. And yes, you are an
asset to your team this week. And I'm very disappointed.
I actually agree percent with you on this. Arn't you
have to take advantage when you have an asset like this.
I think it's kind of a slap in the face
to your new team. And I still have I have
more respect for my old team than I do for
(01:26:54):
you guys that are paying me right now. And you know,
we kid around about this. If I was a wire,
let's say I'm you know, I'm one of the big
names on the team. Him and I may getting each
other's grill if you don't start telling me and spilling
some secrets, because I'm not gonna I'm not gonna handle
that very well, to be honest with you, see Aaron
Donald in a dark corner of the of the locker room. Yeah,
(01:27:16):
now I'm with you, man. I just I just think
that it's a bad look for him. Uh, it's an
interesting story that. Like, I saw the headline, but I
didn't really think all that much about it. But yeah, no,
if I was Aaron Donald, first of all, I'd be
a lot wealthier. I want to be hanging out with
you on a Saturday night. But too I i'd corner
him in a little bit of the locker room and say, hey, man,
come on, you with us? Are you against us? So
(01:27:36):
I was, you know, people like, well, you're just an
old man. Well if I was six five, uh to
seventy five and you know, eight years old, I'd have
a lot more to say about that. I promise you that. Um.
Miles Garrett, oh boy, Um, I don't like what he
did at all. I don't think there was a racial
sur I wasn't on the field. We have mikes and
(01:27:59):
TV cameras all over the place. There was no evidence
that there was any racial slur. Um. Mason Rudolph find
fifty thousand for his part in the little tussle there,
but not because there was any racial slur or anything
like that. Torres. Yeah, listen, I I said this the
day of I stand by it now. Is only Mason
(01:28:21):
Rudolph and uh Myles Garrett. No, and Myles Garrett's adamant
that had happened whatever. All I'll say is this, I'm
not calling Myles Garrett a liar, but every single thing
that he did from the moment that he left the
field until this report came out on Thursday afternoon did
not reflect somebody that experienced what he said he did.
(01:28:41):
He this is a guy that in his postgame press
conference apologized profusely. This is a guy that, um none
of his teammates heard anything about this. Baker Mayfield was
asked about it. He had no idea. Odell Beckham had
no idea. He wrote a handwritten apology to Mason Rudolph
and I know that you know we we we have
this conversation of you know, well he had to wait
(01:29:03):
until he met with the NFL. If somebody said a
word that vulgar and that egregious, I'm sorry. I'm getting
up there that Thursday night and I'm saying I don't
apologize for what I did. This man called me this,
He set me off. It's completely unacceptable. I don't care
what anybody says. He I'm just saying he did not.
He did not say he did not do a single
(01:29:24):
thing that reflected that this actually happened. What is going
to set you off more? Obviously a racial slur at
you or at Miles Garrett, let's say, but let's say
there was a racial slur at you, or if I
came up and punched you in the face like somebody
did the Miles Garrett. Um, what was that three weeks ago? For?
I don't even remember it was it about three or
four weeks ago? Um that somebody came up and punched
(01:29:47):
him in the face. Uh. And he didn't even you know,
beat the guy to a pulp there. I I'm wondering,
you know what would set you off there? A racial sturt,
getting punched in the face? Uh? I mean, I don't know.
I I just know that nothing that he did from
the moment that he left that field reflects what he
said he did. And I will say this if he
(01:30:08):
I don't know if there's any way the NFL can
prove that this didn't happen. I don't know if they
have that much technology. But I don't like this, this
idea that his way of trying to get out of
this punishment is to tear down another guy and listen,
Mason Rudolph had his role. Mason Rudolph was fine. Mason
Rudolph for his role. He'll get him that he got
(01:30:30):
his punishment. But to brand to to brand a guy
a racist, that is something Mason Rudolph can't defend himself.
If you say he said I was gonna say, if
Mason Rudolph could prove that he didn't say it, there'd
be a lawsuit right now, Yes, because that is defamation.
(01:30:51):
I listen, I'm not a lawyer, and we may maybe
have a lawyer listening. They could defamation. You have to
be able to prove that the person was definitively trying
to yes, exactly, and I just don't think that. I'm
just so disappointed, Myles Garrett, Listen, you screwed up. It's okay,
we're forgiving society, but when you try to tear down
another human being um and brand him as poorly as
(01:31:14):
you can brand somebody by calling him a racist, I
just think that was a despicable, low, disgusting way to
handle that situation. You screwed up. But now I got
to bring it up the where and now I gotta
say what happens if he did say it? I have
to and that's what I have to up to you,
of course, But I'm just saying, there is nothing that
he did that reflects that that actually happened. And then
(01:31:38):
and then, and the NFL said that they investigated, So
listen until I have found no evidence. Sarah didn't say
it didn't happen. Found no evidence, of course, But this
is my problem. Why why are we in a position
to just assume that because Myles Garrett said it happened
when there is no proof that it happened. No one
else heard it. The NFL couldn't pick up Bonnet, none
(01:32:00):
of his teammates knew about it, none of When you
stop there, you're right, he has a teammate has to
come up and say I heard it too. Well. Nobody
has said that. Well, And I'll take it a step further.
When the when the report came out, and I think
it was Thursday afternoon, the reporters that we came, the
Browns came out of practice and reporters were asking them
(01:32:21):
about it in real time, and every single player that
they asked said, I had never even heard that this
was a possibility. So I'm just saying, listen, I've said
it four or five times in this segment. I don't
have to repeat myself, but nothing that he did reflected
that it actually happened. I'm not calling him a liar.
He is adamant that he heard that. I'm just saying
maybe he feels like he did hear it. Maybe he
(01:32:42):
believes he heard it, and maybe he did. But I
don't believe that if that word was said, because it's
a terrible, awful word and we all know the you
know the heaviness of that word. I don't believe that
he would come into a postgame press conference and need
the press conference by saying I let my team down
and let my coaches down, and let this organization down.
(01:33:05):
I have to believe, and I can't speak for him.
I'm not saying that. I'm just saying if it was
me and those words were used, that would be the
first thing out of my mouth and I would not
apologize for it. I guess Mason Rudolph very distraught over
the allegations over something like well, because it's something that
once you're branded that you can't take it away, and
it's not something um that It's not like Mason Rudolph
(01:33:28):
is gonna be doing a lot of commercials or endorsements.
But I understand what you're saying, but to a certain
group of people, he will always be branded that and
there's no real way to disprove it. I understand that
Myles Garrett is adamant that that's what he heard, but
he better be darn Sherman, because that's an awful, awful
accusation to make. If you're notitive, you want to comment
on that, errand underscore Torres, I'm at stinking Genius one.
(01:33:51):

straight out of Vegas. It's our buddy, Bernie Fratto. How
you doing, Bernie? Gotta love that. Jim Morrison bumper music.
You guys aren't playing tonight, man, We're not playing the
Bernie right off the bed. Who's been the most and
(01:34:32):
least profitable teams right now in the NFL? Yeah, well,
the usual suspects, the Saints, the Rams, the Pats. They've
all been very solid. But I think the most noteworthy
team seven and three against the number one push the
Arizona Cardinals with Kyler Murray. You could have backed him
and made as much money as you want to make.
(01:34:53):
On the bottom side, no surprise, the Cleveland Browns are
very disappointing three six and one against the number, but
bringing up the rear the Bears to seven and one
and the Bucks only two and eight against the number.
Although things have a way of turning around the last
six or seven weeks, so look for value in those
lines as things have a tendency to regrets to the
(01:35:14):
mean and progress to the mean. Bernie, I want to
actually flip back to college for a second. Um, nobody's
more plugged in in Michigan than you. You're plugged in
everywhere to to to be fair, but you are Mr Michigan.
You're more Michigan than Jim Harbaugh. And I've been watching
this team. I feel like they've improved exponentially. They're averaging
over forty points the last four. What does Vegas think
(01:35:35):
about next week's game against Ohio State? Has the line
moved it all over the course of the year. Well,
there was a line posted, uh a while back that
Ohio State was laying thirteen and a half the game
of you played at ann Arbor. It will kick off
a new and eastern next Saturday. Check with a couple
of sports book directors. I trust we believe when you
see the line open tomorrow the official opening line, not
(01:35:57):
so much to look aheadline, we believe it's gonna be
Ohio State minus eleven and a half in aur Bertie?
Do you like to like bet money lines? Uh? With
these rivalry games in college football and just hope one
or two head just go against all the favorites and say,
let's see which one's gonna pull the upset or what.
Very rarely will I bet a money line unless I
(01:36:20):
see an edge or an angle that leads to me
to believe the dog should win the game. Out Right,
I'm looking to try to make small profits week to
week over a long term, so I'm wanted to grab
the points, and I, uh, you know, certainly. I mean,
TCU gave Oklahoma a little bit of a scare tonight,
but I felt real comfortable grabbing the eighteen points. So
(01:36:40):
it's a bit of a slow burn. You know. A
lot of folks in Vegas come here, they try to
bet a little money to make a lot, and they
leave Tom with less money than they came with. I think,
if you can look the other way around, try to
make small profits over time. However, I do know some
folks that will sprinkle a little on the money line
every now and then. Arnie and seem to do pretty well.
And that's just not my jam. You hear all the time,
(01:37:01):
really quickly. Last college football thing from me is you
hear all the time these, especially early in season, these
hypothetical lines of oh if Bama played Ohio State would
be Bama minus seven or whatever. Who is in Vegas
is eyes. The best team right now is in They
would be favorite against every other team in college football.
Ohio State would be favorite over anybody. It's an excellent,
(01:37:21):
excellent questionnaire. And because it's interesting, had Oregon not spit
the bit tonight, a lot of folks thought they had
a chance to get into the Final four. But Oregon
would have lost to Auburn, and I believe Alabama will
beat Auburn UH in the Iron Bowl, and Auburn would
have been probably a four point dog to Alabama on
a neutral field. And Auburn was a three and a
(01:37:44):
half point favorite over Oregon on a neutral field. So
when you add all that up, if you can follow
all that, it still shows that in many cases, the
teams that are favorite to win at all our favorite.
I'll get an example. Here's what I mean by that.
Ohio State their plus one eighty right now to win
it all. As a matter of fact, guys, someone came
into CG Technology today put twenty grand on Ohio State
(01:38:08):
at plus one eighty to win the national championship. So
that'll bring back fifty grand L s U s plus
two twenty five. That means Ohio State would be a
short favorite over L s U. Georgia is eight to
one O. How State would be a big favorite over Georgia.
Clemson's plus two fifty O. How State would be a
favorite over them. We think no matter who O how
State tease it up against, regardless of where their seat is,
(01:38:32):
they're gonna be favorite over anybody, All right, party, Let's
get to the NFL um. Who did the sharps jump
out at the beginning of the week. Who are they
all all over? This week? They got on the Falcons.
The Falcons defense has gone crazy, eleven sacks for interceptions
the last couple of weeks. They've gone pretty strong defensively.
They're laying four against the Buccaneers. They got on the Jets.
(01:38:52):
We think the Raiders are a bit overvalued here laying
three points on the road. This is a team that's
given up more points than they've scored this year, so
you're making them a road favorite. The sharps around the
Jets are also on the Seahawks. Seattle five and oh
on the road. Eight and two is an underdog with
Russell Wilson against the spread. The Eagles got all kinds
(01:39:12):
of injuries at wide receiver and in the final game
the Panthers Saints, they played the under a forty seven.
The Panthers there the fourth in offensive pace. They play
very slow, deliberate in The Saints are a run first team.
That game. The Pros are looking to go under a
divisional game under forty seven points. How is Vegas handling
(01:39:33):
the Ravens right now, Bernie, because they are putting up
points at an unbelievable rate. It feels like as an
outside observer, like I remember early in the season, it
was like you couldn't make a point spread big enough
for the Dolphins because you just assume they were gonna
lose by thirty. I watched the Ravens. I feel like
they're gonna win by thirty every week. How is Vegas
handling them? We've seen this before. It's an excellent questionnaire.
(01:39:55):
And go back to two thousand seven when the Patriots
were destroying every buddy, but then they didn't cover it
to their last nine. So it's all comes down to price.
The books are gonna find a way to put up
a price to make you go against the invincible object.
Give you a quick analogy. Guy goes into a bar,
goes up to the most beautiful girl he's ever seen,
(01:40:17):
and says, would you go to bear with me for
a million dollars? She says yes, I'd have to. Would
you go to bear with me for ten dollars? What
do you think I am? A horror? Well, we've already
established that we're negotiating price. Now. So the bottom line
is they'll keep moving the line until the market comes
in the other way and even sings out because as
we've talked about before, guys, Vegas isn't about predicting who's
gonna win the game. They merely want to create equal betting,
(01:40:40):
two way action so they can minimize risk and maximize profit.
Speaking about the Patriots, that line has changed a little bit.
It was usually never got the seven, but it was
six and a half. Now down the six. I gotta
love Dallas on the money line because they're so banged
up the Patriots. What's gonna happen to the receiving corps? Now?
Those rumors that maybe Snow will play, I don't know
(01:41:02):
what to make of that, but um, I think there's
some problems with the Patriots. Well there are, Arnie uh
And the line is actually now down to five and
a half in Las Vegas. So if you're if you're
backing the Cowboys, you're off a key number. You're getting
five and a half. Look, the Patch as still seven
and three against the number. In two thousand nineteen, Bill
Belichick still covers six of his home games. He's four
(01:41:25):
in a lifetime against the Cowboys with a cumulative record
accumulative score of average score to twelve. You're a good
money line, Guyarny. If you like the money line, still
get Dallas plus two twenty in the game outright? What
it's going to come down to. Dallas has a decided
offensive advantage. I won't bore you with all the numbers,
(01:41:47):
but right now they've basically got the number one offense
against the pats number one defense. And if the if
the Cowboys can run the ball tomorrow night, that's going
to be their key. The larger issue the storyline this
game seems to have become a reference them on Jason
Garrett's future. I want to switch over to Cleveland. Um. Obviously, Look,
(01:42:08):
it's been a weird week and a half since the
Miles Garrett situation. That's another conversation for another day. But
it seems like most of the money is coming in
on Cleveland open at nine now it's up to about
ten and a half. Are people I don't know if
it's people or if it's Vegas who's buying the Browns.
Is it's still Joe Public or is it the the
actual Sharps. I think you're seeing money from both camps
(01:42:30):
coming in on the Browns are very expensive. They're laying
ten and a half. Uh. They've not been a double
digit favorite, the Browns since two thousand and seven, but
their tenant four against the spread this year or excuse me,
in the last two years against sub c foes four, No,
when they're favorite. So they're putting that line about where
it should be, even though it's very expensive. The one
(01:42:52):
thing we don't know, Aaron, is how will Cleveland play
without their best defensive player, Miles Garrett. That's gonna be
a factory. Before we let you go. Give us a
little take on that Green Bay San Francisco game. Everybody
talking about it though, people are starting to doubt Jimmy
G a little bit. Big game for San Francisco because
they could either be the number one seed in the
NFC or maybe dropped to a five seed in the NFC.
(01:43:14):
What do you think about this game? So much going
on here with all the forty Niners injuries, Jimmy G
and his last three games eleven touchdowns, four interceptions. Aaron
Rodgers Sunday Night, this is where he lives in his career,
fifteen and ten against the number that fifty six touchdowns,
ten interceptions. It's going to come down to Green Bay's
soft rush defense and can they stop San Francisco on
(01:43:37):
the ground. Packers catching three there, seven and three against
the number this year, this is a really tough game
to handicap. I won't be involved because of all the
injuries and all the other dynamics. He's Bernie Fratto coming
up at the top of the hour, straight out of Vegas.
Bernie will be listening. We always love the show. Thanks
for stopping by. Well, we'll tune in about thirty minutes.
All right, Thanks guys, enjoy the rest of your weekend.
(01:43:59):
All right, take here, Bertie Frado, straight out of Vegas,
coming up at the top of the hour. All right,
we'll start getting more into week twelve. Also one day
before week twelve. We know this will answer that question.
First though, Let's see what's trending with every buddy Steve
the Saga for the last time tonight. What's going on
to sag. Let's get to college football and some crazy
NBA in a minute. But first off college football, you
(01:44:21):
had home wins for number two Ohio State and number
four Georgia, but sixth ranked Oregon lost in Arizona State
thirty one to twenty eight. Justin Herbert two touchdowns, two interceptions,
a s U was three for three on short field goals.
Oregon had one nine straight since the close opening day
lost to Auburn, but Oregon was down seven with only
eight minutes to go in this one, got three late
(01:44:42):
tens to make it interesting, but they lose to an
Arizona State team that was two and five in conference
coming into tonight after four straight losses. Number seven. Utah
meanwhile wins again thirty five seven at Arizona. Colorado has
beaten Washington fourteen. Twenty ranked Boise State starts the four
quarter with a lead of fifty six fourteen at Utah State.
(01:45:03):
It's Fresno State tied at twenty eight with Nevada about
ten minutes ago. Predictably low scoring game involving San Diego State.
They were down fourteen three and the fourth it's now
fourteen eleven, Hawaii leading early in the fourth quarter, and
the crazy game at Washington State. We mentioned there were
forty eight points in the fourth quarter combined. That's a
record for a game that was decided by one point.
(01:45:26):
In the end, Washington State runs for a touchdown in
the final seconds to win fifty four fifty three over
Oregon State. And how about these final passing stats for
the Cougars Anthony Gordon fifty of seventy through the year,
six hundred six yards, six touchdowns, three interceptions. I think
they had five turnovers total, and the Cougar still win
(01:45:46):
fifty four fifty three. Aaron mentioned they they blew a
home game against u c l A historically earlier this season,
So Washington States now the first team since back in
the fifties to actually allow at least twenty nine points
in fourth quarter. There's two different times, but at least
they won this one. It was a number nine Oklahoma
surviving nearly blowing a twenty one nothing first half lead.
(01:46:08):
They beat TCUO Oklam. Oklahoma finished with over five hundred yards.
TCU had about two hundred yards, but quarterback Jalen Hurts
turned it over in the fourth quarter on back to
back drives. Minnesota and Wisconsin each one next Saturday. It's
Minnesota hosting Wisconsin, maybe in snow, to decide their division.
I mentioned the Ohio State win that clinched a division.
(01:46:29):
Michigan won it's game next Saturday on Fox TV twelve
pm Eastern time, Ohio State at Michigan Baylor one, as
well as Oklahoma. It'll be Baylor against Oklahoma in the
Big twelve title game. As for the NBA, the Chicago
bull Zach Levine scored forty nine points tonight, including the
game winning three at Charlotte One s fifteen from three
(01:46:49):
point range. He was thirteen for seventeen. How about this
finish though the Bulls had trailed by five with under
ten seconds left, They hit a three pointer, got a Steel,
hit another three, and get out Miller on him. Two
different guys with the threes. But yeah, kind of like that.
And the San Antonio Spurs had lost eight straight games,
but they got to play in New York tonight. Spurs
(01:47:11):
led the Knicks in the second quarter fifty two to
twenty nine and beat them. And Philadelphia was entertaining a
Miami team that had won five straight. Philly led late
third quarter, set nine and took that. Lakers won their
seventh straight, Milwaukee one at seventh in a row, and
the crazy boxing finish in Vegas on pay per view.
Heavyweight Deonte Wilders still undefeated a p and Yahoo reported
(01:47:35):
he was down six rounds to none the veteran Louis Ortiz,
and then straight right knocks out Louis Ortiz late in
the seventh round for a victory. Anyway, back to you,
all right, thanks to Welcome back to the Fox Sports
Radio studios. That sprot to you by Geico. It's easy
to say, center more in consurance with Geico. All you
have to do is go to Geico dot com or
(01:47:56):
give them a call seven auto. The only hard part
figuring out which way is easier. Yeah, my picks have
been horrible this year. We have our picks coming up
in about fifteen minutes from now. I gotta turn it around. Uh, Taures,
I've been horrible on my picks. Well, I'm just proud
of you because last year year go to was to
just pick against the Patriots every week, and uh, as
(01:48:18):
Bernie just said, I think, what is it six through
the Brady Belichick era, they're gonna hit. So it probably
wasn't the smartest strategic decision from you. So I'm glad
that you've kind of steered away from that one. It
hasn't helped me. I'm still bad, but all right, here
we go. It's one day before week twelve, one day
before week twelve, and I know this. I'll start things
(01:48:41):
off one day before week twelve. I know this. The
Chicago Bears um, and we've been saying this for a while.
Not only done for the season, they're done with Trabiskie,
They've got to overhaul the whole thing. Um, it is
a complete the bocle. I can't believe I actually thought
that the Bears could make a run of winning that division.
They are maybe one of the most disappointing teams in
(01:49:03):
the NFL this year. Uh, the Chicago Bears have just
been a horrible mess um for this year. So one
day before Week twelve, the Bears have just been miserable. Yeah,
I mean, I don't know why you're why you're so
hard on yourself. You and I both said before the
season this was a team that seems set to regress.
I mean it was just even last year during the
(01:49:24):
successful run, it was so much predicated on the defense
Khalil Mack all that. But yeah, it's uh, it's over
from Mr Bisky. Uh, it's it's just it's unbelievable to watch.
I mean, listen, the fact, by the way, I'd add
the fact that he will forever be the guy that
was drafted ahead of Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes. That
(01:49:44):
is something that he will never live down. And I'm
with you, I don't think he's with the Bears at
this time next year. One week before, one day before
week twelve, I'll tell you this, it's super obvious. It
is going to take something shocking for Lamar Jackson not
to win NFL m v p UM. He is so
unbelievable right now. Yeah, well, I was just thinking about this, ARNI.
(01:50:08):
How about this. We live in this world where every
team in the NFL is trying to hire the latest
offensive Google right, Sean McVeigh, Matt nagy, uh, Matt Lafleur,
Zach Taylor, Cliff Kingsbury. John Harbaugh is the guy that's
coaching the highest scoring offense in the NFL. And John
(01:50:28):
harbaught in turning to click Cliff Kingsbury overnight. He just
has by far the most dynamic player in the NFL. Yeah,
Hardball was lost his job, you know what I mean?
And yeah, look look look what he's doing now. Um,
one day before week twelve, I know this. The Patriots
are in big, big trouble, especially a wide receiver. I'm
still not sure if the news going to play. But
with Edelman banged up, um Nikkilo Harry the rookie out
(01:50:51):
of Arizona State, who is just getting going now, they
really don't have a lot of weapons. Sony Michelle the
running back has not been as average. Ties. The Patriots
got a big problem with the offense and that's gonna
cost them from going back to the Super Bowl. Yeah.
And and it's crazy too because with the Patriots, and
this was something Listen, it's gonna pay me to do this, Arnie,
(01:51:13):
but you were on this. As far as the schedule
gets tougher, the competition gets tougher. And listen, there's still
nine and one, but you look at the schedule, the Cowboys,
at the Texans, Chiefs, Bills, who are competitive, It's gonna
get really tough here down the stretch. And all those
games against the Jets and the Giants and the Dolphins,
(01:51:34):
those are all basically over for the Patriots. And I
do wonder as the schedule gets tougher, I still think
because the Chiefs are struggling, etcetera, that they are in
pretty good position to uh, you know, to to still
get a buy in that first round, but I think
that they are in big trouble going forward as we
get set towards the playoffs. I'll tell you this, one
(01:51:55):
day before week twelve, I cannot believe. And I am
so impressed with the Oakland Raiders in position today on
November twenty three to get a playoff spot. This team
had the craziest travel schedule I've ever seen early in
the season. They continue to pick up wins. They've won
(01:52:16):
three in a row going into the game against the
Jets tomorrow. Are they gonna win that division? It's tough.
I mean, listen, I know, I know we're all down
on Casey right now, and and listen, you know Phil
Rivers kind of gifted them and win the other night.
I still think Casey, now that Mahomes is healthy, wins
that division. But I would not be surprised if the
Raiders hold on for Wilcome. I one thing we haven't
(01:52:37):
talked about, and I know this. One day before week twelve,
I probably should have said this team must win, even
though when you look at the record, you'll say, no,
that doesn't make any sense. But that's the Buffalo Bills.
I mean, remember, now, we had a car or excuse
be a texta that said last time they started off
six and two, they finished six and ten and seven
(01:52:58):
and nine. Well they've added on that they've seven wins.
Right now after the Bronco game, it gets real tough.
Cowboys Ravens at Pittsburgh at New England. So they gotta
beat the ones that they should beat, and that's the
Denver Broncos. They go to eight and two, they're gonna
be sitting pretty for a pretty good playoffs spot. They
lose this to drop the seven and three, you don't
(01:53:21):
know if they dropped the next four to go back
or um to drop down to seven and seven, you
don't know. I will play out after that. Well, and
keep in mind too, that game against the Cowboys is
this coming Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, so that's a quick turnaround
for that team. And so you just it's a great
point on how tough the schedule is. But it could
be over by the end of this week. If you
(01:53:44):
do not win this game tomorrow on Sunday against there's
seven and three, So they'll be okay. Even if they
lost both, the'll be seven and five. But then it
starts getting real tough. Um, you know for playoff positions.
Then they got Pittsburgh and the Patriots after that. Yeah,
I'm just saying. I mean, if you take, if you
lose tomorrow, there is a very good chance that you
(01:54:05):
could be you could pick up back to back losses
in five days and your your season is completely swung.
We've talked about tough schedules. I'll tell you this one
day before Week twelve. I know the Browns dealt with
a lot of off the field adversity. We talked about
a lot of it. I think they can go on
a little run here. I don't know if we're talking playoffs,
(01:54:25):
but I think with the with the with the game
against um, excuse me, Miami tomorrow, I think they can
get hot. I think they can continue to improve, and
I think they're gonna be a dangerous team down the
stretch here with the schedule. Wow. A matter of fact,
I'll tell you what. We'll come back. We'll give you
our picks. Um is, Cincinnati're gonna win. How about the Dolphins.
Who's gonna win that Patriot Cowboy game? We'll go through
(01:54:46):
our selections. That's coming up next right here on Fox
Sports Radio. All right. The segment brought to you by Discover.

(01:55:08):
Uh Aaron Torres, Arnie Spanier, Bernie Frado, straight out of Vegas,
coming up at the top of the hour. First though,
let's us get our picks and give us a little music,
put us in the mood. Where do we start things off? Well,
right off the bat and probably gave nobody's paying attention to.
I don't want the points, Torres, I don't need the points, Torres.
(01:55:30):
I'll take the points. Give me the Bengals plus six
and a half. I actually think they're gonna win this game,
and get that guy off the roof of that restaurant
that's been up there until they win a game. Um, Cincinnati, look, obviously,
they've had a horrible year and Pittsburgh's kind of turned
it around. Cincinnati at home actually one of the few
chances to win a game. I know they played the
(01:55:51):
Dolphins later on, but I get a feeling Sincinnati is
gonna win this one. I'm gonna take them plus the
six and a half. Yeah, well, it's certainly been a
distracting week off the field. The Steelers wouldn't surprise me
if they come out flat there. I thought you were
gonna say. I don't want the points. I don't need
the points because I'm taking the New York Football Giants
straight up. Listen, we just talked about Mitch Robiskie. It's
(01:56:13):
a disaster. He got knocked out last week. He's gonna play.
I'm sure everyone in Chicago wishes he wasn't. Uh, it's
nothing personal. I know the Giants are on a six
game losing streak right now. But if there's ever a
week that they're gonna right the ship, I think it's
this week. I think they're on the road away from MetLife.
I think that's a good thing. They get the winds
straight up at Chicago again. I don't want the points.
(01:56:36):
I don't need the points. I'm not gonna take him.
Even give me the Dallas Cowboys plus the six against
the New England Patriots. Way too many points here. We've
talked about this tonight. Um. The Patriots are I don't
want to say in disarray. Their nine and one, but
they're certainly having problems offensively. He just saw the last
game where they beat what Philadelphia seventeen them. Uh, you
(01:56:58):
can see Tom Brady with the bitter your face. He
needs some help. I don't think the news playing. I
don't think that kill Harry could help Edelman's banged up. Um.
I think the Cowboys win this game out right. It's
really funny. That was actually where I was gonna go
as well. I will not predict him to win out right,
but I think it's way too many points. You mentioned
the Patriots offensive woes, and as I mentioned, the Cowboys
(01:57:23):
the most total offense in the NFL. They're putting up
more yardage than anybody. They've actually been pretty good off
to buy, three out of four wins since off since
they came out of the buy. I think they certainly
cover the points, and I'm with you. I want to
be stunned if they pulled the straight up upset, but
I'll just take him in the point. San Francisco at
home against green Bay. San Francisco a small favorite of
(01:57:45):
three and a half, and I think that's way too well. Look,
San Francisco is the better team. Um. Not only that,
we're certainly doing a disservice to Jimmy Garoppolo if you
think that he doesn't have a big part of this
start for San Francisco. Sure, they've got a eight defense,
and that's another reason why they get off to this
great start. But I think they go ahead and boat
(01:58:07):
race this Green Bay Packer team. It could be like
a two touchdown victory. I think three and a half
is a small number there. Give me San Francisco minus
the points. Yeah, that one's to stay away. To me.
I do like Green Bay, but it's a small number.
I'm I'm not convinced enough to actually take it. The
one I do like is when we just talked about
with Bernie the Cleveland Browns. Listen. I know it's been
(01:58:28):
a tumultuous week off the field, but this team is
trending in the right direction. Two straight wins. They're starting
to feel good. I think that they think that they
can get themselves back in the playoff picture. I don't
know if they can, but it starts this weekend. You
gotta win the games you're supposed to on the schedule.
I think they win. They win convincingly. They feel really
(01:58:49):
good with a third straight win straight up, and they
cover the ten and a half against the Dolphins. I'm
gonna be the fool and take the l a Rams.
I always like taking the home deem plus the points.
Rams are getting three to three and a half, probably
three and this one all respect to Baltimore, and who knows,
they still may get the number one seed when it's
all said done, depending on what the Patriots do, especially
(01:59:11):
in this game this weekend. But Baltimore is just clicking
on all cylinders. But the Rams are desperate. They've got
their backs against the wall and a desperate team at
home getting points. I'm taking give me the Rams plus
the three. All right, I'm gonna give you a two
for one here really quick. Are we talked about our
our mutual disdain for the Atlanta Falcons. Yes, not only
(01:59:33):
am I taking Tampa Bay plus three and a half tomorrow,
I'm also taking the Falcons to lose out right Thanksgiving Night.
We're not gonna be back on before this game. So
Falcons take the Bucks plus three and a half, and
whatever the line comes out, jump on the Saints because
they're gonna jump all over Atlanta on Thanksgiving Night. The
(01:59:54):
three games on Thanksgiving Chicago Detroit trip to Fan yet
you don't need trip to Fan for that one. He
falls Buffalo Dallas, which is the prime game of the night.
That's gonna be four thirty Eastern. And to wrap it up,
Saints and the Falcons one last time. Falcons won last game,
(02:00:16):
but they're not playing for anything. Saints still have a
lot to play for. There a lot of good college
hoops and by the way, some good college football on
Thursday and Friday too. And obviously when we get back
into this time slot on Saturday, will have Ohio State
Michigan completed, We'll have the Territorial Cup Arizona Arizona States,
all sorts of good stuff next week. Yeah, I always
(02:00:36):
love that one. Um, even though we're not very good
this year. I was trying to look up the lines
for some of these rivalries, but they're not quite out yet.
So um, we gotta wrap things up. Thanks to the crew,
Thanks Derek Roberts producing the show. It really didn't do
a whole heck of a lot. Who was running the
board today, I don't even know. Was it Cavanaugh, No,
(02:01:00):
it was caving On was running whoever was running you
you did a good job. I should just go ahead
and say you really you really one with your employees. Yeah,
I'm always Seger on the updates. Coming up next, Um,
of course Bernie Frattos, straight out of Vegas. Stick around
for him. Um, he'll give you the Vegas perspective and
which way Vegas is looking at the games. Um, the underdogs,
(02:01:23):
the favorite so Bernie. Uh, coming up next, everybody, have
a great night. I'll see you tomorrow here on Fox
Sports Radio.
