Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Was it all hype? Well we'll explain that.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
And just a minute, Fox Football Sunday is here with
a special guest.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Don't go anywhere.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
We'll let you know who he is in just about
a minute, and we're broadcasting live from the Tiraq dot
com studios. Tyraq dot com will help you get there
and unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road hasard protection

filling in for Bucky Brooks, who's having some tea in
London town right now. To one and only Jason FITZFITZI,

(00:34):
how are you welcome to Fox Sports Radio and Fox
Football Sunday.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
I was never told that tea in London was an option,
Like nobody said, Hey, you want to radio or get
tea in London? Bucky live in the dream. I mean
TA in London sounds delightful. But if we can't have
TA in London, I'll have coffee with you and we'll
have a blast hanging up for the next years.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Like I can't wait. You know, it's great having you here.
This is like a first date for me. I you know,
let it anybody know a little bit about you. I mean,
Jason Fitz, you know, certainly a household name in the
world of sports, but a little bit of background. You know,
what sports did you play? You know, let's hear a
little bit about Jason Fitz.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Well, I mean, look, for anyone that doesn't know, I
am that guy. Like I'm a diehard, lifelong Raiders fan.
So I'm having a good morning by the way, and yeah,
everything's good here, but yeah, lifelong diehard Raiders fan, but
didn't really play a lot of sports growing up because
I grew up a music kid. So I'm like the weirdest.
You know. Everybody asked how you get to sports, and
the answers you go to Juilliard, Like I was a
music kid that grew up in that world. And for

(01:34):
anyone that doesn't know, I toured for years in country music,
most famously with the band Perry and won a bunch
of Grammys and have a bunch of golden platinum records
on my wall and was lucky to have an incredible
music career. And while I was out on the road
in music, I started a podcast because what I really
love was sports, and that was about a decade ago,
and I was able to grow that into a career.

(01:54):
That took me to ESPN for a long time. And
now I'm here in Yahoo Sports and love and every
second of it. That's like thirty second version of a
weird long story.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
So basically, I'm with the superstar like I always had.
Buckiet Brooks is gone and now another superstar comes and
it's okay. I'm always like at the bottom of the barrel.
You know, I'm the schmuck from Brooklyn who played two
in touch in the streets and stickball in the backyard.
That's what I did, okay. And of course in high
school I got a letter because I was manager of
the basketball team.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
That's what I did.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
You know, I love sports, what can I tell you?
You know, after the games, everybody was outside partying, going
to Jans. It was Jans was the place on eighty
sixth Street and bench Nursed in Brooklyn would have ice
cream sodas and they did that after the games with
the cheerleaders. And what was I doing. I was making
phone calls the twelve newspapers with box scores, telling them
the scores of the game. That was my life. Okay,
so what can I tell you? All Right, but we're

(02:41):
here good.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
I love every second. By the way of that, I
just have to tell you that you were out there
checking box scores. I was a kid that in Vegas,
grew up in Vegas as a little kid, grew up
a diehard Raiders fan. And every Sunday, my dad's rule
was he didn't want to listen to the violin, like,
because I practiced eight hours today every day my entire childhood.
But we didn't do that on Sundays. We sat down together,
we watched then La Raiders as a kid, watched them together,

(03:03):
and we stayed up and we waited until George Michael
Sports Machine came on and gave me the highlights, right like, so, yeah,
it's funny you went you mentioned the box sports scores.
For me, it was USA Today to get the preview
and the recap on Monday, and it was watching George
Michael at the end of the week to get all
my Raiders news because that was the only way you
could do it back then. Because I'm old, no.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
So am I did?

Speaker 2 (03:22):
We move on?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
But you know what, there's nothing wrong with being only
because you have more experience. You know, what you tell
the young whipper snappers, Hey, it should be done this way.
This is the way you do things. Okay, So we
move along, you know, and look, you talk about people
that telling people how to get it done. I want
to talk about this Colorado game against USC you know,
to me, yeah, it's no big whoopye that they lost.
You know, Deon loses forty eight forty one. It's the

(03:43):
hell of a game. They came back, they storm back.
It's not about the wins or losses. I don't think.
Maybe I'm way off base here as far as Colorado's concerned,
this team that won one game a year ago. But
what Deon Sanders has brought to the table, He's brought
eyeballs to college football. People care, They love it, you know,
love them more. Hey, they think he's a blowhard or not,
whatever it may be. They are following college football, and

(04:04):
in particular Colorado University.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I mean, this is what you need if you're college
for see, because what we forget sometimes is that the
diehards will follow anything anywhere, and no matter what sport
we're talking about, the diehards will always be there. So
when you're marketing your sport, when you're trying to figure
out how to grow your sport, you've got to have
a mindset on how do you get the casuals to
come in. And you can see it from the numbers
that this has become a sensation and the fact that

(04:28):
Colorado was even able to make that a competitive game.
I mean, the reality of it is, when networks are
programming what to talk about, when you're looking at content
to make, Colorado is now at or near the top
of the list for all of the networks on what
to do with college football because people are tuning in.
And the fact is, when you have a sensation, you
can't know that you hadn't until you're sitting there living it.
It's exactly what's happening for Colorado. So I think it's

(04:51):
huge for the sport. Also, I think he's giving college
football a different looking approach because it's not just about
the transfer portal. It's about the way he gives athletes identity,
and it's a way he brings in celebrity. He's bringing
a different approach. If part of the reason college football
fell in love with Dablos Sweeney, for example, at one
point is it felt like a different approach than Saban. Well,
now you've got Saban, You've got dabbling in this bucket

(05:13):
over here, You've got a guy that says, hey, I'm
gonna bring in the most famous people in the world.
The sideline's gonna be hopping every single weekend. I'm gonna
let you be an individual in everything you do. I'm
gonna market you every single week. I'm gonna let you
shine as a personality, not just as a part of
my program. I think that becomes a lasting recruiting element
that will will serve Colorado or d On wherever he

(05:34):
ends up for the rest of his career. Incredibly, Like,
this is a phenomenon that I don't think is going anywhere.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
I'm with you right now. And look, he's like the
pie piper of college football. You talk about exposure. Fox's
big new kickoff has been there three times ready this year.
It's amazing. I mean last year you couldn't find Boulder.
They there three times this year. And more than that,
what I love is that he's gotten under the skin
of a lot of coaches because a lot of coaches
don't want to change.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
They're setting their way.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
For example, this portal situation bothers a lot of guys.
I remember when Paton Ardozi, the coach of pitt came
out months ago. He didn't like what he was doing.
Everything Deon's doing is on board, it's legal, but these
guys don't want to get it done.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
They want the old fashioned way. You know, I will
tell you this much.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
I think coach k at Duke is one of the
reasons why he left and villain over you know, Jay
left as well. Why they couldn't adapt to this portal
thing so they quit coaching. I really believe that sometimes
you just can't make change. Change sometimes is good. You
know Dan Lanning, the coach of Oregon, right last week,
what does he say that Deon's in there for clicks?
You get these guys coming out of the woodwork just

(06:37):
attacking him, and I love that.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
I love it. It's great.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
I think it's great for the sport because you have
to have a guy wearing the black robe. You have
to have the enemy, you have to have the guy
that people love to hate, and they're doing that with Dion.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
I mean, think about the best action movies. If you
look at the best Batman movies, they're defining portion not
just by Batman, but by who the best villain is, right,
Like you've got to have a hero and a villain
for every story, right, And you're a thousand percent right,
Like you know, one of the things I cover a
lot for y'all, who is college football. And I was
stunned when we did our first video of the weekend
that we did Weekend one. We just did a quick

(07:09):
clip on Colorado, and then you looked at the numbers
afterwards and you said, oh my god, people want this. Okay,
we'll make sure that we keep an eye on Colorado.
How can we do more content for people that are
searching for Colorado content? And to this day, when we
put our videos up yesterday, I am sure they want
to get the numbers. Next week we'll see that it's
overwhelmingly in support of this. You're right. I would tell

(07:29):
everybody that you know, college football is in the danger
at some point of becoming major League Baseball, where all
of a sudden, your fans and your diehard say, well,
you can't change the game. You can't change the game.
These changes that so many people, fans, coaches alike, You're right,
have complained about are the very thing that make Notre
Dame Duke last night Destination TV. Right, we are in
a world now. If you look at the top forty

(07:50):
players in college football by recruiting, they went to more
schools than ever last year. What does that do? That
spreads the talent out? The use of the transfer portal
spreads the talent out. It makes for more in games
like the NFL always wins because there's a way to
make the Titans interesting every few years. If college football
can capture that with the transfer portal and with m
NIL and all of the opportunities they have for kids, man,

(08:11):
I'm all in for it because it grows the sport.
And if your sport isn't growing, it's.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Dying, no doubt about that. You know you mentioned exposure.
This guy, Deon Sanders has been on sixty Minutes twice
in the last four months. It's it's amazing, it really is.
I Mean, he just has that aura about him that
people want to be around him or don't like him.
Either way. There's no in the middle with Deon Sanders.
And if you watch the game yesterday, I mean he

(08:36):
had Paul Pierce in the stands.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Kevin Garnett was there.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
CC Sabathia, Deshaun Jackson, Michael Westbrook, and you're a good friend.
You're a good friend. The rapper, the baby, Okay, I'm
sure you know him. I'm sure you perform with that baby.
I mean I couldn't pick the baby out in a lineup. Okay,
but I'm sure you know me. You are a music guy.
But these are the guys that the kids want to
be around. And I'm sure there are kids out there
right now saying I want to play for Dion, I

(08:58):
want to go to Colorado, beclose of these guys that
come into the games.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
What's interesting about that to me, though, that I'll always
think of is different personalities get the best out of
different personalities. Right, Like I mentioned, I was a music kid,
and you know the funny thing is I grew up
going I got into juliarbh. I was a very young kid.
So we moved to the East Coast. But I had
a teacher at one teacher at one point that at
a prosthetic leg and he used to take it off
and threaten to hit me with it if I didn't

(09:23):
play well and like which now you know, at the
time was terrifying me. Now I laugh about it. I
had one teacher that would grab whatever was on his
desk and just chuck it at you while he was
just yelling at the top of his lungs and Russian right.
But for me, that motivated me, Like this whole there
was a fear and an edge to all of it
that motivated me to be the best musician I could
be right there. So for me, that really worked. And

(09:44):
I say that because there are football players out there
and guys that I know that played in the league
that I've worked with, they will tell you they respond
to Nick Saban and the way he's just always on edge.
There are guys out there that respond to Dabbo and
is sort of I love you and faith based. This
is what we're gonna do, and this is how we're
gonna do it. There hasn't been a coach in college
football with this level of platform that's done it this

(10:05):
way and not just offering the celebrities, but offering to
treat the kids this way. With these experiences might bring
the best out of players that in other situations are
a shell of themselves. Like at every point, You've got
to figure out who can help me become the best
me that I can be. And if you do that,
you're gonna make your team better, You're gonna make your
program better. You're gonna make the front sales of the

(10:26):
front porch sales of the school better. You're gonna do
all of those things. So I think there is this
element of while we say, oh, it's about the guys
on the sidelines, the guys on the sidelines, it is,
but it's also about, Hey, there's a bunch of kids
that are gonna come experiences that wouldn't get this experience elsewhere,
and because of the culture that's created, will be a
better version of themselves.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Well, look at us.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
There was a full slate of college football games yesterday
was stuck on and I love it. We're stuck on
Deon Sanders in Colorado. That's fine, that's what people want
to talk about. But I'm sure people waking up didn't
watch the game. What did Colorado? Do you know what
a dion dou They lost?

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Good?

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Oh they won good?

Speaker 3 (10:58):
That following the understand this, And I'll tell you what,
I'm not particularly engrossed and love this new transfer portal situation.
Why do I say that I'm watching these games and
I have like these little liners on TV where it
says Joe Blow has now played in three different schools
in three different years.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
I don't know how that happens. I don't know how.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Presidents can consider themselves academia when they have guys going
to three different schools of three years and they don't
have to sit out. I don't get it. But you know,
as a fan, I love it as a fan. I
love it as a person who basically went to college
four years and even at one time Phillip's transferring saying Hey,
I'm not gonna go there because I'm gonna have to
lose thirty five credits and do this and start all
over again. And these kids could do it. I don't

(11:39):
know how. I don't know how that works. But you
know what, I'm a fan now, I'm not a student,
so I don't care.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Yeah. Well, the hardest part of college football that's been
broken for a long time in that sense is that
we just live in a world where coaches can decide
willy nilly they're going to go coach anywhere. And then
you've got these kids that are locked into schools for years.
They were locked into schools that they no longer wanted
to be at because they went there, you know, to
play for a certain person or play for a certain culture.
So you know, the difficulty is that hypocrisy has sort

(12:05):
of always that rage rule, I should say, over that
portion of college football. That being said, I think ultimately
at some point what we have to accept is that
these are barely students anymore. They're just representing the school
colors that so many people have fallen in love with. So,
you know, if it makes college football less predictable, I mean,

(12:26):
one of the beasts is somebody I covered the sport
at ESPN for six years. It did every show that
we had there, and when you start thinking about it,
you'd reached the spot where you go in and you're like, okay, guys,
top four teams are going to be the same top
four teams they always are, So how are we going
to make this interesting this week? And what's funny to
me is now, for the first time in my career here,

(12:47):
since twenty sixteen of doing this full time in my life,
I can't tell you right now who the top four
teams are. So if the transfer portal gives me that,
if all of this gives me that, I honestly think
it's better for this board overall, and that's all I
care about.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
I'm with you right there and speaking the tough four
teams right now. I don't think they're going to remove
Georgia because Georgia did win yesterday. They won by a
hair of course. However, I will say this if I
had a vote, No, Georgia got by Ahlburn twenty seven
to twenty at the end of the ball game. If
I had a vote, I will for Michigan. Not only
are they winning and not only they undefeated, they're like
destroying people. They really are, so I think. But you know,
I don't think you take and you know this better

(13:22):
than me because you've been doing this college football deal.
I don't think you knock someone out of the first
spot so that because someone's playing not that good, but
they still haven't lost. So I think Georgia will still
be number one, but Michigan's going to pick up a
lot of votes.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
I think that's part of why we honestly shouldn't do
polls until later in the season, because Georgia's number one
because they started at number one. You're right, they won yesterday,
but they have still yet to play four quarters of football.
In fact, their net points in the first quarter for
this entire season, and they haven't always played great opponents,
is zero, So they're not starting fast. They're barely starting.
You know, they've they've been down seventeen nothing, they've been

(13:56):
down ten to nothing. They've managed to come back because
they're very talented FOOTB team. But should the number one
team in the country be number one if they haven't
actually played a good football game yet, because I don't
think Georgia has. Like they are number one because we
know how good they are, we know how good they were,
we know how well they've recruited, we know how good
they're supposed to be, But they're not number one because
of anything we've actually seen on the field. I would

(14:17):
have no problem if I had to vote frank they,
I would put Washington at number one. But that's what
makes this year interesting is that we have seen I mean,
Michigan beat the snot out of Nebraska, but Michigan also
really hasn't played anybody. So you go across the board
like we just haven't gotten to the meat of college
football yet this season in the schedule where I think
we have a lot of proof of concept on who's
any good.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
You're exactly right. He's Jason Fitz and Andy Ferman.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
It's a sort of Sunday reunion that's coming up next
on Foxlive from the tiraq dot com studios. He's Jason
the Man, Jason the Man fits filling in for Bucky
Brooks right here on Andy Furman, and we are rolling
along right now because it's that time. It's that time
right now to talk NFL on Sunday, Okay, and we're
gonna do that with the Detroit Lions Thursday night. Go

(16:32):
the clock back a little bit, throw it back thirty
four to twenty over the Green Bay Packers and it
was really and truly dominating. I mean, now they're two
in one with wins at Green Bay in Kansas City,
and I gotta ask you, Jay, I mean, are they
for real, these Detroit Lions?

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yeah? I think so? And why not? You know, this
is where we have to start to judge teams based
on who they are today and not who their brand
has been. Like it frustrates me at times when we
come in and say, yeah, but it's the Lions, Okay, Well,
this Lions team doesn't give a damn what happened to
the Lions in the nineties or the early two thousands
or twenty ten, right, Like, we have to remember that

(17:09):
this Lions team can only be held accountable to what
this Lions team is doing. And what this Lions team
has done is they found a way to win these games,
like they dominated Green Bay. You're right, and made Jordan
Love you know, as much as hype as Jordan Love
was getting a week ago. Then they made him look human.
They showed some of the accuracy issues out of him
in this process. Their defense has played really well. Their
Lion has played really well their offense, Like we've got

(17:31):
to stop talking about Jared Goff like he's a liability
at quarterback because he has again found a system that
he really thrives. And so you've got all the dynamic
playmakers you need. You've got quality play on both lines.
The defense is playing well enough at this point. I
don't understand why there's hesitation to say the Lions are
for real, simply because if you take the logos off

(17:52):
the chest and you just look at this team. Not
only did get this win against Green Bay, they found
a way to beat the Chiefs. Like this Lions team
has done everything they need to do to answer every
question we have.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
You know, I'll go on stuff further. I'm looking at
the defense. The defense is tremendous. They've had seven sacks
twice in their list six games. And I always say
this and maybe on way off base, and you can
smack me around if I am. I mean, I love
Dan Campbell. I mean he looked like a fool when
he had his opening news conference and people laughing and
they thought he's a buffoon.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
I don't think this.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Team would be as good with any of the coach
except Dan Campbell, because I think he's the perfect fit.
He's intense, he gets everything out of them. And you know,
I don't know the guy from Adam. He doesn't know me. However,
I did see him in Hard Knocks, and I think
that he is the perfect guy to make these guys
believe that they're good. Because when you go into that
Detroit Lions locker room and you're a draft de you

(18:43):
look and say, wait a minute. This team has not
been into the playoffs since what I mean, they haven't
won a playoff games since when.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
I mean you get that era of like we're losers.
And he's changed that.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
They took about culture and I'm not a big guy
with that term culture, but honestly, he has changed the
of the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
I'm a big guy for buy in and to your point,
and I agree with it very much. Part of this
is about, you know, just figuring out how to get
a locker room to connect to a human being. And
one of the things that's difficult is we live in
a world where we see so much of everything that
we take these soundbites and it's like, okay, the soundbites,
we're just weird and bad and maybe he's that cheesy

(19:22):
behind closed doors whatever, But there is some element of
if he's consistent and authentic in who he is and
he handles the players consistently and authentically, a locker room
will buy into him. Every guy that I've ever worked
with or talked to that played the game talks about
how what you want from a head coach at that
level is somebody that you know is being real with you,
is honest with you, and you know what to expect

(19:44):
from Like you start to get an understanding for who
they are as a human being. Dan Campbell has this
locker room bought into him as a human being. They
feel like he's bought into them as individuals. When you
combine that, I think that's a big part of it.
Like I'm with you, I think sometimes we overblow. Well,
you got to create your culture. I think it's it's
it's much simpler than that. You got to invest in
people in a way that people invest in you. And

(20:04):
when a coach can do that, it doesn't matter if
they're dorky. I mean, I wouldn't say that. Mike McDaniel
seems like the type of guy a lot of people
want to rage with, right, But he's got this quirky
dorkiness that players relate to. Dan Campbell has this like
old school funny football ism that players relate to. As
long as you're authentic and you can get the players
to relate, that's all that matters.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
No doubt about that.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Dave Montgomery Russ rush for one hundred and twenty one
yards and three touchdowns in that game on Thursday. But
the good news is right now, the NFL has changed
their rule on betting. Betting on non NFL sports while
out a team facility or on team related travel now
results only in a two game suspension for the first violations.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
What does that mean.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
That means that wide receiver Jamison Williams will return Monday
after a two game suspension, which gives the Detroit Lions
that big deep threat, which a lot of people think
that may be the one thing they were missing. Defense
is tough, a running game is right there. Now they
got a deep threat in Jamison Williams. I mean, I
tell you right now, they've locked up the North. They've
locked up that division. Green Bay's gone. I mean, Minnesota

(21:03):
can't win. They got it. It's all Detroit right now.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Yeah, the question for them at the point. At this
point isn't the division, it's where they're going to stack
in the NFC. I mean, realistically, if you want to
compete in this year's NFC, you better have an offense
that can make things difficult for the forty nine ers defense.
And that's easier said than done. This offense does that.
This offense can do a lot of things really well.

(21:28):
And one of the things that's funny about the draft.
Obviously we had a lot of reaction to the Lions
and the way their picks went out, but one thing
we talked about afterwards is that if you just took
a look at the name of the boards and not
where they were drafted, they got a lot of quality players.
I think you're seeing that they're going to continue to
grow the roster with an infusion of youth. Also, that's
really good. I think the Lions are in a perfect situation.

(21:48):
The thing is, you need to be variable to be
able to beat the forty nine ers. You need to
be able to do a lot of things well to
take down that defense. I think the Lions offense can
absolutely do that all day, every day. In fact, this
is one of the those rare moments where I think
we also have to. I can't believe we're saying this
about the Lions again. It gets funny, but you got
to look frankly at their coaching staff and wonder if
it's the next one that's going to be poached, Like

(22:11):
is Ben Johnson the offensive coordinator? They're going to be
the hot candidate somewhere next year. And the way this
offense is going to keep putting numbers up.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
You're exactly right. I want to move on right now.
Get the Falcons Jags in London and the memory of
the late Bucky Brooks who used to be with us.
He's over there now in London with the Jags. And look,
I will tell you right now that the Falcons right
now leading receiver is Mac Collins with like one hundred
and fourteen yards. This team is one dimensional. And I
talked about a reunion on Sunday. Well, Calvin Ridley, the

(22:39):
wide receiver, will meet his film of Falcons team. I
like the Jags in this game, but it's gonna be
a close one. And honestly, if this game is in
my backyard, it's my good friend Mike North would say,
I close the drapes.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Okay, I'm stealing that from both of you because I
love every ounce of that. I agree. I think part
of why the Falcons are one dimensional is the exact
opposite of Ben Johnson. It's not that they don't have
the players, it's the and I don't think Desmond Ritter
obviously is the answer their long term quarterback. But they
just don't have much creativity to their offense right. And

(23:12):
that's what's interesting to me is that when you've got
Drake London and you've got Bijon and you've got Pits
and like we hear so many people scream about, well,
it's not fantasy football. It doesn't need to be fantasy football.
The reason that those players are projected to do well
in fantasy football is because, to be very clear, they're
talented football players. But I don't understand is why Arthur

(23:32):
Smith's choice as a coach and why the falcons choice
is designed in offense is to try and simplify things
or make it dumb things down to a level where
you're not exploiting the great matchups you could get with
great talent. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
They've won some football games, but I am not a
believer in Desmond Ritter at all is a long term answer.
So I think this has got to be one of

(23:53):
those weeks too, where the Jags start to normalize to
who they should be the rest of the year. And
I think we start to see that when you are
going up against the team, they can put a lot
of points up, and they will put a lot of
points up in this game. I think Atlanta's going to
struggle to keep up.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
Here you go, here's Jason Fitzimady Ferman. This is Fox
Football Sunday on Fox Sports Radio. Now, was last week
just to hiccup? Well that's coming up lot Live next
on Fox Sports Radio from the tiraq dot com studios.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
But first I got Kevin Wyatt. How's all your sports.
We're in the final day of the Ryder Cup with
the Europeans entering competition on Sunday, leading US ten and
a half to five and a half. The Americans would
need a record comeback in order to retain the Ryder
Cup trophy, and action is under way today. John Rahm

(24:39):
is one up on Scotti Scheffler. They are through four holes.
Victor Hovlin one up on Colin Markawa. They are through three.
Patrick Kantley is one up on Justin Rose. They are
through two holes and through one hole. Roy McElroy one
up on Sam Burns, and we're waiting on the tee
off of Matt Fitzpatrick and Max Homer, Tyle Hatton. Bryan

(25:00):
Harmon also set the tee off shortly after them, Ludvig Aberg, Brooks,
Keepka and then at the top of the hour, Sepstraca
and Justin Thomas. As for the action on Saturday, college
Football Top Break Georgia, they had to sweat out against Auburn,
but they do win at twenty seven to twenty a
forty yard touchdown pass with to tight end Brock Bowers

(25:22):
with three minutes ago, sealing the win for the two
time defending national champions. Number eight USC looked like they
were going to an easy win against Colorado. They're at
forty eight twenty one late in the third quarter, but
the Buffs, trying to make a comeback, would fall just
short as USC wins at forty eight to forty one
behind six touchdown passes from Caleb Williams and Shirdard Sanders,

(25:43):
for his part, had five touchdowns. On the afternoon ELEVENTHREAC
Notre Dame needed a late touchdown with just thirty seconds
to go to beat number seventeen Duke twenty one fourteen.
It was a shootout in the sec between number twenty
ole Miss and number thirteen LSCU, the Rebels winning at
fifty five forty nine. They got two touchdowns in the

(26:03):
final five minutes. Kentucky takes down number twenty two Florida
thirty three fourteen. We have some NFL news. Jimmy Garoppolo
still in concussion protocol. He will not play against the
Chargers today. Ian Rappaport's saying that Aidan O'Connell likely to
get the start in his place instead of the other
backup Brian Hoyer and the Chargers for their part ruling

(26:26):
at Austin Eckler, Joey Buzsa and Derwin James Equanimia Saint Brown.
He will be active with Chase Claypool down, so that's
another injury news there. Tyson Bigen will be the new
backup for Justin Fields. Colts plan to open the twenty
one day practice window for star running back Jonathan Taylor.

(26:48):
He's on the physically unable to perform list and we'll
see when he comes off that and Miles Sanders of
the Panthers listed as questionable with a groin injury. He
is expected to play today. Giants rod Ta Kwon Barkley
doubtful for Monday night against Seattle. He's dealing with an
ankle injury. In boxing, Canel Alvarez defeats Jamel Charlow in

(27:09):
a unanimous decision. His record now goes to sixty two
and two. He retains his middleweight title. Back to you guys,
all right, thank.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
You, keV all right, didn't mean to interrupt you there,
but there's a new Bowl game. We'll tell you all
about it and the name of it in just about
a minute. He's Jason fitz in for Buckey Brooks. I'm
Andy Ferman And by the way, football fans, be sure
to tune in to Fox Sports Radio every Sunday morning
beginning of ten am Eastern seven am Pacific for Countdown
to Kickoff presented by Bett mgm, Brian No, Jeff Schwartz,
a professional better Bill Krackenberger will have you covered three

(27:39):
hours before kickoff. Every Sunday morning, listen to Countdown to
the Kickoff presented by Bet mgm. Right here on Fox
Sports Radio and of course the iHeart Radio app. Now
we got the Fits talk in about eight nine minutes
from now. That'll be really interesting. I can't wait. Ravens
at Browns, and my guy Bucky Brooks says that Browns
and the team to beat obviously in that division a

(28:00):
c nowth injuries, bad weather. The Ravens still lost to
the Colts last week in ot shouldn't happen to him.
But they've got a lot of injuries. But justin Tucker,
the guy that could kick blindfolded, he was shot on
a game winning sixty one yard kit in regulation and
they couldn't put it away. So the Browns defense against
Lamar Jackson should be interesting. I like the Browns in
this game, not by a lot, but by just enough

(28:22):
to beat the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Well, this is what's interesting to me, and I respect
the heck out of what Bucky's saying. I think he's right.
The biggest surprise early portion of the season is that
the Browns look this good across the board even without
Deshaun Watson necessarily playing at the highest level. I know
he finally broke out last week. Let's see how that
sustains moving forward, This defense for Cleveland gives you so

(28:48):
many problems. The unfortunate thing in my mind is that
I thought we'd be saying the same thing about the
Ravens offense, like top Monkey was supposed to come in
and really revolutionize the opportunity to watch the passing game grow,
and instead it's felt like everything's been a little out
of sync for Baltimore. I think maybe a lot of us,
myself included, underestimated the adjustment to the new offense because
it doesn't feel like necessarily all of these weapons are

(29:10):
being used in these dramatic, incredible ways that we were
expecting that you know, be hard to defend because you
didn't even know what you'd be seeing. So now you're
in this situation where you're taking on a Cleveland team
that you know has frankly one of the most disruptive
players in the game across the defensive line in Miles
Garrett that nobody knows how to stop, and they're doing
a beautiful job. I mean, everybody saw the rip last week,

(29:32):
but at one point Garrett caused a false start because
he was actually just going or a delay game because
he was going from side to side to side and
they were having to adjust the entire offensive alignment based
on where he was standing. That's how impactful he is
as a pass rusher. Right now, I don't know how
you stop that. So that means that you're going to
have to have precision passing that gets out quickly, and

(29:53):
that's something and I don't think the Ravens have done
well yet, So I don't know how you run the
ball against him either. So this Cleveland defense is a problem,
and I don't think the Ravens offense is up to
par yet to be able to take it on.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
Plus the injuries. You're right about that.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
I like the Browns as well. Browns have allowed one
touchdown this year. Brown's offense has given up two. That's
there you go. So we we're both in the in
conjunction y with the Browns. Now, we've got the Broncos
at the Bears. And I said, there's gonna be a
new bowl game mentioned this year. This new bowl game
is the toilet Bowl because both these teams are owing.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Three this this game. Right now. You couldn't bring.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
A limo to my house to draw me to this
game to watch this game. Broncos lost by fifty to
the Dolphins last week. I mean Sean Payton stopped playing
the blame game already. Really, I mean, it's over. You
got a bad team. Russell Wilson's own three for the
first time in his career, Justin Fields is owing three
for the first time in his career. But I will
say this, Chicago has played worse among both these teams.
So I'm gonna take the Broncos, probably by a field goal.

(30:45):
It's gonna be one of those games. I think whoever's
got the ball at the end of the game is
gonna win the game.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
Look, there's one thing I got to be very clear
on here. I need the Broncos to start winning a
game or two. Like as a LIFELULNK diehard Raiders fan,
there are certain things that I've had to come to
grips with. Like I accept the fact that I'm gonna
have to face Patrick Mahomes twice a year for the
next I don't know, decade. I've accepted the fact that
Justin Herbert's always going to be able to put up
numbers for the next decade. I do not need, somehow

(31:10):
the Broncos to fall into the first pick in the
draft and end up selecting Caleb Williams like, I can't mind.
That's not good for my liver. It's not good for
my health. I can't drink that much to get through
that many Sundays. So the Broncos is going to have
to win a couple of these. I think one of
the biggest differences, frankly is when things start to go
wildly off the rails, teams get into self protect mode,
a lot of players get into self protect mode. Locker

(31:31):
rooms start to sort of divide and fall apart. We've
seen some of that already for Chicago. As much as
the Broncos have been an abject disaster so far, I
think a lot of that was pretty predictable. I thought
they'd be the fourth place team in their division. What's
interesting to me is that we thought at least Chicago
would take a step forward. Now that that's not happening,
and now that people are using the media to talk

(31:51):
about it, I just feel like Chicago is on the
edge of an implosion. If you're the Broncos, at least
you know, no matter what, there was one stabilizing force,
and that's it. No matter what happens, they could lose
every game this year. By thirty points. Champagne ain't going anywhere, right,
so there is some level of, Hey, we're going to
be able to hunker down and not be distracted through this.
I think Chicago's already in bailout mode and that that's

(32:15):
going to be a disaster. I wouldn't be surprised if
the Broncos win this game. I think they'll win this
game pretty handily, and I think the calls for eber
Flus's job are going to get to They're gonna get
even louder this week. And I don't think there's anything
he's going to be able to pull off that really
stops it. Other than the fact that Chicago just never
fires a coach midseason. I don't know what saves this
season for them.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
I think the answer to this game is gonna be
who's the worst team in the NFL. You look at
the stat here, This is an amazing statistic. The Bears
have been outscored by a league most fifty nine points,
been out scored by fifty nine points at most in
the league, and now gained by Forge to seventy two yards.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
It's amazing.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
And look, I've watched some of these Bear games on
TV the fans are just they're ugly, I mean and
rightfully so, I mean, really, you want a product that
you could be proud of that's a competitive product. They're
not even competitive. And I don't think the problem certainly
is all on justin fields. You know, give us something
to work with, let him run the football, but then
not letting him do that. Oh one three against Owen three.
And you know, Sean Paige, I'm a little surprised with

(33:10):
Sean Payton. You know, he started off giving that confidence
boost to Russell and kind of backfired and pointing fingers
at Nathaniel Hackett. And now I guess Hacket's got his
own problems now in New York. But still in all
you know, it's on you. It's on you, Sean, and
you get it done.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Get it done. We'll see what happens.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
Okay. Can we also just acknowledge the fact that, I
mean not taking anything away from the greatness of Belichick,
but let's also be very real Belichick doesn't look the
same without Brady, without being a hot take artist. That's
a very simple statement to make. We're just presuming, by
the way that Sean Payton is going to turn all
of this around, and it's going to beautiful without Drew Brees.
Like I'm just saying that maybe at some point we

(33:51):
should acknowledge great coaches can still be great coaches, but
to have great teams you need a great coach and
a great quarterback. And it's not like those are easy
to find. But just an ast to that.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
When you look at the forty nine ers with brock Party,
that to me is an amazing to do it now
really when you think about it, right, I mean, day Dad,
it's a first round draft pick in Trey Lance. They
cut his cut his ass to let him go on.
Brock Party is getting the job done. That's amazing to me.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
That's but that's and that's why I think the forty
nine ers for a long time have sort of been
playing chess while everybody else is playing checkers. They looked
at it and said, hey, we can't necessarily get the
Mahomes in the draft, but if we can build our
fifty three to be so incredible top to bottom, we'll
still find ways to win while we try and find
our Mahomes. And maybe they found their guy in Brock
Party certainly looks like it so far. It's it's one

(34:35):
of the rare stories. It's like, you can't bank on
finding a Brady in the sixth round of the draft.
You can't bank on winning without a quarterback. The forty
nine ers deserve a tip of the cap for what
they've been able to do. I just I think for
the Broncos, it's oversimplification to think if you're going to
be in the same division as Patrick Mahomes for the
next decade, that Sean Payton is going to win a
bunch of those divisions, make a bunch of those playoff
runs without a real quarterback. And I don't know that

(34:57):
that's just as easy to get. Like the presumption was
that he would be the world saver, it all would
be good, and it's like, well that's fine, but you
still got to find a quarterback.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
Man exactly right, he's Jason fitzim Andy Furman. We are

Speaker 1 (35:54):
It has a nice ring to it too, So I think,
you know, when I make the next turn in my
career and go to a professional time TV host, there
we go like I'm gonna sit on the couch and
just be like fitz Talk and let people.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Can't we go a little music for fitz Talk?

Speaker 1 (36:06):
Are you ready?

Speaker 2 (36:07):
Let's hit in?

Speaker 3 (36:07):
Okay, first question for fitz Talk, just Taylor Swift factor
in the NFL. I don't think the NFL needs it.
I think a chieves the league. You know, maybe in
minor league baseball they should have stuff like that, and
they have a memo now to Taylor Swift, are inviting
her to every game in the NFL. Should she decide
to do that? Your take on the Taylor Swift factor
in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
Look, I mean, if I was going to rewrite the headline,
the headline would be really popular pop sensation that's super
rich sits in luxury suite during NFL game. Like, I
don't really care who Taylor Swift dates or who dates
Taylor Swift. I as you know, as a Raiders fan,
does it impact to the game when the Raiders play
the Chiefs. I don't think so. So I don't really
care about any of it. I will say this, though,

(36:47):
I've had more people that I do what I do
for years. I've had more people reach out to me
in the last week that have never cared about football
at all just to find out about Travis Kelcey. So
I think there is something to the popularity and what
it means. But I also don't think the NFL needs
to pander to Taylor Swift, like, just let her come
to the game and enjoy the game exactly right.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Okay, here we go.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Question number two for Fitz talg a Philadelphia Phillies fan
and his emotional support alligator, Wally, were denied entering into
Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The fan arrived at
Citizen Bank Park walking Wili on a leash, claiming the
nearly five foot alligator as his service animal, and the
stadium's policy on support animals on the Phillies' official website

(37:29):
says certified service dogs and service dogs and training for
guests with special needs to welcome all other animals are prohibited.
What do you think about having a service alligator?

Speaker 1 (37:39):
Get out of here? Like just just just stop, Like
you'd be making in that moment to make yourself comfortable,
if you needed your five foot service alligator, you'd be
making everybody within I don't know, fifteen rows in every
direction in that place uncomfortable And like, I'm sorry, but
even if that is real, even if it's really your
support animal, do you think that you be able to

(38:00):
put hundreds of people at some level of discomfort at
the game just so that you can go to the game?
And how what you are? I am so out on
this and believe me, like I'm all in on service
dogs and what they can do for people's lives. I've
seen it. It's amazing. But we have got to stop
with this presumption that like, Okay, fine, I'm gonna bring
my service tiger to the next Raiders game. Let's see
how that goes. Come on.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
You know, I'm happy that the Philly said you ain't
doing it. But I'm thinking about this. Now, what if
a lot of flight I'm on a plane and I'm
sitting down and next thing I know, the guy's coming
down the aisle with his alligator and he's sitting next
to me, and Delta Airlines permits service alligators.

Speaker 2 (38:34):
That's what worries me.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
You know what's worse than snakes on a plane, crocks
on a plane. We're doing that thing like there's a
sequel crocks on a plane.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
There we go, amazing, there we go okay. Next we
know that running backs a now devalued. What position in
the NFL will be devalued?

Speaker 1 (38:50):
Next, Fitzie, it's hot take, but I think it's a
wide receiver. The fact is, the way the college game
has changed, you're getting production out of younger wide receivers
faster than ever, which means while if you have one
of the best of the best, just like in the NFL.
If you have absolutely one of the elite, they'll get paid.
You're going to see a bunch of the upper to
middle class wide receivers in the league suddenly find their
value replaceable because the presumption is going to be in

(39:12):
the first round of the draft every year, you can
go in and get yourself a guy that's still going
to get you that same productivity. So while I think
top notch wide receivers will still get paid, I think
the middle class of wide receivers are going to get
pushed out by the younger class that's coming in that's
cheaper and can be effective easier.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
Yeah, and I think the bottom line is just people
think that they're not the valuable. It's just that the
quarterbacks are eating up so much of the salary factor.
There's not much money left. So someone's got to take
the brunt of it. Now, it's the running back on
as you say, it, probably be the wide receiver coming
up next.

Speaker 2 (39:41):
That's the way it is.

Speaker 1 (39:42):
Yeah. I'll also add to that real quick linebacker. I
think linebackers probably in some real trouble long term in
the NFL.

Speaker 3 (39:50):
Okay, this is a bit one for fits right now.
If you want to pick the MVP in the NFL
right now today on Fox Football Sunday.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
Who would it be?

Speaker 1 (39:59):
Too even close? Too is the MVP today. And by
the way, the hardest part about that is that we
want to keep saying, yeah, but what about the health. Okay,
we can't, what about ism? All the way through this season, too,
is absolutely doing everything you could ask. I think he's
gonna have a statement game against the Bills today. If
I were making my power rankings, I got Miami at
the top. So I'm all in on two of being
the MVP and Miami being the best team right now.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
Okay, last, but not least, as the fired Michigan State
football coach, mil Tucker returned to college coaching.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
Yeah, at a smaller level because like the results on
the field weren't good enough to justify his actions. That's
a real reason he's being fired. Let's be real.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
Yeah, it's an ugly situation. And Mark d Antonio I
saw him on the sidelines last night. I ought to
believe he's back there, but we'll see what's going on.
He's Jason Fitz, I'm Andy Furman, and they're good enough
to win because to have their number, that and more
right here on Fox Football Sunday. It's the game of
the day that's right around the corner. Welcome, everybody, come
on in. It's Fox Football Sunday on Fox Bots.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
Ready.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
He's Jason Fitz and for Bucky Brooks, I'm Andy Furman

Speaker 1 (41:15):
What do you think? Oh man, let's keep it going.
The energy is through the roof.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
Let's go good drugs. It's good drugs, man, That's what
it is.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
I got a couple of questions because you can help
me out here. You're well versed in music, you're well
versed in sports, and I'm just a guy that likes
to listen and soak up your energy and soak up
your knowledge.

Speaker 1 (41:32):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
Do you believe in past performances against a team meaning anything?

Speaker 2 (41:37):
To me?

Speaker 3 (41:38):
All that does is give good fot of the media
people you know, if you say that TEENA beat the
Detroit Lions twelve times in the last ten years or whatever,
it may be tied. Whatever does that mean anything when
they play today? I don't think I mean.

Speaker 1 (41:51):
Squat, no, nothing. It doesn't mean anything at all because
it doesn't really impact this roster, this staff, this coaching staff,
this quarterback situations like we do this all the time.
I have no problem with speaking to dominance one team
over another. You know, it's like, hey, historically this team
continues to beat this team. Okay, that just means that
historically this team has been better than that team. But

(42:13):
what does that mean to anybody that's actually on the
field or on the court during the time. Nothing. I mean,
that's a part of it that's really confusing to me
when when you see some of the numbers, and we
see this a lot in like college basketball too, right
where you'll see, well, this team has lost tex amount
in a row to this team. What does that matter
to the kids that are on the court tonight? Like nothing?
And so whatever has happened we were talking about the

(42:33):
Broncos earlier, whatever has happened over the last several years
means nothing to Sean Payton right, there's so much roster
turnover every year in sports. I don't know why we
continue to look at past performance. You got to take
that financial term where it's like past performance is not
indicative of future results, Like that's.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
Got to be a horse and horse racing. It may
mean something past performances.

Speaker 1 (42:55):
I'll give you. Like an individual sport too, like tennis golf,
where it's just like, hey, it's me versus me or
me versus you one on one. Sure that means something,
But in team sports means nothing.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
And what about one team having another team's numberright here
and now? It's just say that all the time. Is
that true when you see that jersey of one team
you kind.

Speaker 2 (43:15):
Of wilt a little bit? I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (43:17):
No, I think what that's an oversimplification of sometimes the
matchups are just bad, right Like so, I feel like
we should talk more in the NFL about matchups and
how it matters, because we do it really well in
the NBA. We just don't seem to focus as much
in the NFL on it. There are some teams that
are just a bad matchup for other teams, whether it's
because you're just not built to defend somebody that way,

(43:40):
whether it's because that team does something that's a little
different than you're used to seeing. Maybe this team A
runs the ball really well. In Team B historically, it's
just had a hard time finding an interior defensive lineman
worth anything, right. So there are sometimes that it's just
it's a bad matchup, and I'll buy that, Hey, these
two teams haven't matched up well against each other for
a long time. I don't think that that's a team

(44:00):
having another team's number, Like I don't think that anybody
sitting on the sidelines for a team is sitting there saying, oh, well,
you know we're playing that. We're playing Team X today
and it just never seems to go our way, like
at some level, that's fan mentality, not professional athlete mentality.

Speaker 3 (44:16):
I think this is a pretty good matchup two teams
that I wanted to the Cincinnati Bengals at the Tennessee
Titans today. The Titans, I didn't realize this since I
went back and saw this. They are one in nine
in their last ten games, and last year the Bengals
held Derrick Henry to thirty eight yards rushing in a
win in Tennessee as well, The Titans managed only ninety
four yards last Sunday, lowest ever in the franchise history

(44:38):
since they moved from Houston, only six first downs against
the Browns, and they were shut out of the end
zone for the second time in three weeks. However, again
means nothing when they play today. Bengals need to win,
Joe Burrow, not one hundred percent. Need to be a
good game. It really be a tough game. I love
the defensive side of the ball on Tennessee, and I can't.
It's very difficult for me to turn against my since

(45:00):
Andy Bengals. That's my home down team. That's where I'm
at right now. But I think the Titans get him.
I think the Titans get him today by about by
a field goal.

Speaker 1 (45:07):
I really do. I think we have our first disagreement here.
And I spent twenty plus years in Nashville. My first
ever radio gig was one O two five of the
game in Nashville, Tennessee. So I got nothing but love
for the city of Nationville. Not a Titans fan, nothing
but love for the city of Nashville. That being said,
Titans fans, your offensive line is trash and there's just

(45:28):
no nice way to put it, they invested some resources.
They tried to get that offensive line turned around, but
it has not been good. And Derrick Henry, while we
talk about Derek Henry all the time, Tasjay Spears has
gotten a higher share REP share than Derreck Henry so far.
And I keep thinking that this is the week that
Derrick Henry is going to break out. But the fact
is the offense for the Titans is abysmal. And what's

(45:49):
interesting to me is that I respect Mike Vrabels so
much as a coach. I respect the Titans defense just
like you said so much in this situation. Joe Burrow
not one hundred percent, but what they do last week
they kept him in shotgun and they had him get
rid of the ball and you know, half a second
so that he took his little contact as possible. I
think that'll be the game plan year again. So the
Titans are going to have to cover really well. I
don't think they're going to be able to get at

(46:09):
Joe Burrow as much. I'm not sure the Bengals offense
can be as dynamic with that calf injury. We got
to remember that they like to push the ball down
the field, which takes a lot out of your legs, right,
So I'm nervous about their ability to push the ball
down the field. But if the Titans offensive line continues
to play the way it has so far, I'm not
sure that the Titans could score on the Bears. They're
that bad offensively with that offensive line. So I have

(46:31):
no belief in the Titans.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
I hear what you're saying, and it was uggly last
week twenty seven to three. However, it'll be interesting to
see who gets more rushing yards today, Joel Mixon on
the Bengals or Derreck Henry, which I think Derrick Kenry
right now, a lot of that star power has rubbed off, certainly. Yeah,
bad offensive line, not many holes front to run through.
But I think the fact that he's carried the most
so many times for so many years, I think that

(46:52):
he's on the downside of his career.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
I really do.

Speaker 1 (46:55):
This will be interesting because he's started slow in the
past and then been able to ramp up. But man,
I just don't know. This one feels different. And what
we have to remember is that we ask running backs
to be superhuman, and then we expect superhuman results year
in and year out. At some point. What a lot
of the great running backs in the NFL are doing
are masking deficiencies for their offensive lines in front of them.

(47:16):
At some point when just a little bit bit of
that juju like rubs off and they don't have it anymore. Now,
all of a sudden, that offensive line is more exposed
than the running back. Can't do as many things. They
just can't be miracle workers all the time.

Speaker 3 (47:27):
Right this game, I gotta believe is going to be
the game of the day. Miami Dolphins undefeated at three
and zero at the Buffalo Bills two and one. Dolphins
got Look, you gotta pressure Josh Allen, There's no doubt
about that. But last week the Bills they had five
forced turnovers. They had nine sacks against Washington. Can that
repeat that again against Miami today? Von Miller is going

(47:47):
to be returning in about two weeks.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
With Buffalo.

Speaker 3 (47:49):
Bill's won the last two games of this year by
the scores of seventy five to thirteen. The Dolphins have
lost seven consecutive an eleven out of twelve in Buffalo. Again,
what does it mean? Means garb which means nothing. Last week,
the Davlas put up seventy seventy points in an NFL
game against the Broncos. This game is going to be
closer than one thinks. I don't think they're putting up
seventy against Buffalo. But again, I gotta believe this is

(48:12):
the game of the day.

Speaker 1 (48:13):
Yeah, it is, There's no doubt, And this is the
ultimate prove it game for both teams early on in
the season, because realistically, if you're the Dolphins, you went off,
and there's no doubt about it, you have gone off.
But you've also scored a lot of points against bad teams,
and you did struggle a little bit against a bad
Chargers team, and you struggled a little bit against the Patriots,
and we always forgive those things, right, So this becomes

(48:35):
the ultimate proven against a much better opponent. And if
you're the Bills, frankly, you beat the snot out of
Washington and that's fine. You beat the snot out of
my beloved Raiders. That still hurts. But I think this
has to be that moment where you show what you
can do against a very good football team, right, And
the key to playing the Dolphins, I think is patience.
You got to understand if they're going to score in

(48:56):
one play and just go ninety yards every single time. Okay,
that doesn't the way you play your offense. And Josh
Allen when he is patient, is almost unbeatable. Where Josh
Allen has had problems for two years in a row
now is when he starts to push the ball and
get too aggressive and try to take chances he doesn't
need to take. He needs to understand in my mind
that this is a patient game plan that at some

(49:16):
point the ultimate goal is to keep Miami's offense off
the field, and to do that, you're going to have
to sustain drives, even if they don't result in points.
You're just gonna have to sustain drives. You're gonna have
to take what the defense gives you. You're gonna have
to rely on little plays to keep things going. I
think Josh Allen needs to be patient in this game,
and if he isn't, this turns into a boat race.
I think Miami can put points up on him. But

(49:38):
if he is patient, this becomes the game of the
game of the day, I should say. And also scheduling,
God's playing a nice little tip of the cap to
Miami to get Buffalo this early in the year in Buffalo.
That is a gift for Miami to not have to
go to Buffalo in December.

Speaker 2 (49:53):
No doubt about that.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
You know, you put up seventy points and then you
kind of pull the curtain back of it and say, well,
what are they do? They have three unto twenty five
yards rushing and passing, five touchdowns on the ground, five
touchdowns in the air, totally odds over sixteen hundred and
and get this, no, Jalen Waddle playing last week unbelievable.

(50:14):
The Miami averaged ten point two yards per snap. That
means every snap was more than a first down. It's
unbelievable what they did last week. We may never see anything.

Speaker 1 (50:24):
Like that again. Yeah, and fantasy football players are gonna
start going nuts at some point too, because you mentioned
Waddle comes back, and that means that inevitably more share
or more more split all the way around. I think
the Dolphins are gonna be maddening for gamblers and for
fantasy football players because they're all gonna realize across the
board that this might be the week where Waddle goes off.
This might be be the week where he'll goes off.

(50:46):
This might be the week where moster goes off h
N last week. You know, it's just going to be
interesting to see because I think Miami's just gonna be
able to put a different person every week. Is gonna
be able to exploit whoever the third best corner is,
or whoever the second best linebacker is. On every single team,
They're gonna be a nightmare to stop unless you are
sound and solid fundamentally defensively.

Speaker 3 (51:07):
Okay, now here's the question of the day. You know,
back in nineteen seventy two of those Dolphins went undefeated.
Theylways pop the champagne cork. You know, when no team whenever,
when every team has lost the game, so they know
their records intact. I'm looking at the Dolphins schedule this year.
There's a chance to be undefeated. I mean they don't.
They have a tough one on Christmas Eve home with Dallas.
That's gonna be a toughie, all right. Other than that,

(51:29):
I don't think, well, Kansas City, I have Kansas City
November fifth, that's gonna be toughie as well. Other than that,
I don't think there's gonna be any games, and today
could be a challenge. But I do think they're gonna
beat Buffalo in Buffalo today. Other than that, I think
there's an outside chance, a pretty good chance actually, they
could go undefeated.

Speaker 1 (51:49):
I think there's probably you mentioned Kansas City that'll be
a tough one. Plus inevitably you just find out one
week in the NFL where you don't show up cough Dallas.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (51:57):
But I do think that there's some element for or
Miami that by mid season they will be working on
what they think helps them the most in the postseason.
I do believe that. And one thing that Mike McDaniel
needs to do as a play caller is to remain
somewhat committed to running the football because that is a necessity.
It's not something there was necessarily commitment last year, and

(52:18):
I think this year, between Most Dirt and eight HA,
they're going to be exploring different exploring different ways that
they can run the football week in and week out,
which is going to be interesting to watch and also
going to be important for them for wherever they're playing
in December and January when they're trying to get to
the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (52:33):
Well, you made a great point earlier today and you
talk you about you know, teams are not going to
win without a quarterback, And certainly you do mentioned too
that too is your MVP, and I agree. I think
that if the MVP vote was today too, we will
probably get the MVP vote. But there is not one
man more important on that Miami team than Tua. I mean,
you look at the San Francisco forty nine ers. I mean,
their quarterback went down a year ago and they still
were tremendous. I mean, and they got brocked.

Speaker 2 (52:55):
Part.

Speaker 3 (52:55):
They've got a lot of talent around them, but so
does Miami. But I think the key for the Miami
Dolphins and their success this year is a healthy Tuur.
And honestly, you know, we saw what happened last year
with those concussions. Hopefully they keep him up right, they'll
be fine.

Speaker 1 (53:09):
Yeah. By the way, if he gets through this whole
season healthy and everything's glorious for him and they look
like the super Bowl type team that they could be.
They get to the super Bowl with Tua getting through
this year healthy and everything's glorious, that man is gonna
get paid. Like there's just an element of as much
as we've been talking about health and as risky as
that can be, some ways, let's remember Tua is in

(53:30):
that moment now where he's gonna be turning ound. He's
gonna be turning around and getting a huge extension if
he gets through this year healthy. Everybody's just gonna have
to accept that this is part of his past, not
part of his future, and he's gonna get a massive
bag of cash.

Speaker 2 (53:42):
There we go.

Speaker 3 (53:43):

Speaker 2 (54:24):
It's a first in four years for this team.

Speaker 3 (54:27):
That's coming up next, Live from the Tirak dot Com studio.
C Jason fitz if a Bucket Brooks, I'm Andy Furman,
and away we go talking football ball today on Sunday.
There's nothing better there, really is. Your Sunday schedule certainly changes,
you know, when the NFL season starts, doesn't. I mean
to me, I wake up in an entirely different mood.
I have nothing to do except watch football games.

Speaker 1 (54:49):
Yeah, well, I mean there's a difference. There's it just
hits different when you just get up and like, you
know what your plan is going to be. Your plan's
going to be to do one thing, and that's to
watch football games. Although are you are you doing it anything?
Why you are? Like you just to sit there with
a notepad watcher or you sit there with the nopad watcher.
Will you also have like a particular snack? Is there
a ritual for.

Speaker 3 (55:07):
You depending upon the game? Sometimes really and truly if
the game's really out of control. But I don't really
take notes. I want to just enjoy the game, you know,
because if I take notes, it's kind of like it's work,
you know, and this really shouldn't be work.

Speaker 2 (55:20):
It's fun.

Speaker 1 (55:21):
Can I enjoy night? Can I confess something to you
about how I watch The Raiders? I just I just
need you to know. I'm gonna eat an entire box
of donuts, and I'm gonna drink a case of diet
root beer. Like it's just every game. It's entire box
of double chocolate Donuts, and it's an entire case of
sugar free root peer. It's called balance. No, I'm gonna
go to I'm gonna go to the gym right after
we finish the show to counteract this. But yeah, especially

(55:43):
Aid and O'Connell. Starting today, for my beloved Raiders, I'm
going to I might get two boxes of donuts today.
I don't know. I've never gone to the second box,
but it might be that day.

Speaker 2 (55:50):
Unreal, I'm not I'm not that way. I'm not doing it.

Speaker 3 (55:54):
I don't think I can eat a box of donuts,
to be honest with you. But we move on Bucks Saints.
I mean, I'm need a bottle Legit to watch this game.
But that's another story. Major question right now is going
to be the health of the Saints quarterback Derek Carr
with that shoulder. Haven't heard anything.

Speaker 1 (56:07):
I guess.

Speaker 3 (56:08):
I guess he's going to play the game time situation
with Derek Caark.

Speaker 1 (56:11):
I don't know. Yeah, well, I'm seeing that they're saying
that he's gonna try and give it a go. Is
what you know? X is telling me. I don't know
if I'm supposed to call it an extra twitter, but
they're saying that he's gonna try and give it a go.
But look, this is going to be an issue now,
and that's just part of what you have to deal with.
If you're Derek Carr, You're gonna take some hits, and
he's taken some brutal hits and so far in this season,

(56:32):
Derek Carr is gonna have to find a way to
either push through this. So they're gonna have to figure out.
You know, it's not like they don't have a capable
backup in Jameis Winston. But when you combine that with
the fact that Alvin Kamara is coming back, I feel
like this is gonna be one of those games where
the objective for Derek Carr, who's never been shy about, hey,
I'll take what the defense gives me and hopes they
hope they give me the game. I feel like he's
going to be looking for Kamara constantly, just to try

(56:54):
and keep his body out of harm's way if that
shoulder's bothering him at all.

Speaker 3 (56:58):
Right, as far as the Bus are concerned, they couldn't
run the one day, not against the Eagles, but honestly,
who can. They turned it over for the first time
this year. They were beaten in the trenches.

Speaker 2 (57:06):
For the Bucks.

Speaker 3 (57:06):
The good news is their wide receiver Mike Evans. He's
got two hundred and ninety seven you odds to three
touchdowns to date. But still, in all I think that
with Derek Carr, maybe even eighty percent, they're good enough
to win.

Speaker 1 (57:17):
Yeah, one hundred percent agree with you that they're good
enough to I can't figure out. And this is, you know,
the toughest part of the early part of the season.
We're seeing these teams normalize and we're trying to figure
out who's good and who's bad. So you mentioned who
can run against the Eagles. I do think there is
some element of what can we take away from a
loss for the Bucks where they lost to a team
that they should lose to. The Eagles are a better

(57:37):
football team, right, So we're still sort of sitting here
stunned that the Bucks have looked as good as they've
looked at times, and reminded that with the weapons around him,
you know, Baker's played well enough, right, So for the Bucks,
you want to come in and show that you can
be really competitive. For the Saints, this is the type
of game you have to win if you are going
to be the best team in a bad division. And
that's frankly what the South looks like it's going to

(57:59):
be to me division. So I think that there's every
single week there's just sort of more more to the
book report on the Saints. But I don't know what
to make of the Bucks. Shit, I'm the first to
admit that after three games they've surprised me, and I
don't know what our real takeaway should be yet.

Speaker 3 (58:13):
Yeah, I'm with you right there. You know you talk
about surprises. The Vikings are owing three, the Panthers are
rolling three. Vikings are out the Panthers today. Minnesota's owned
three despite not losing any game by more than six points.
You know, to me, if you lose by thirty five
points or six points, he's still losing the game, but
they were eleven to zero and one score games last year.
The Vikings own three for the first time this twenty twenty.

(58:36):
Despite get this wide receiver Justin Jefferson's twenty seven catches
four to fifty eight yards and a touchdown. You know,
you got to look at him as maybe the offensive
player of the year right now because he's on pace
for twenty six hundred receiving yards. Last week he had
seven catches one hundred and forty nine yards in a
touchdown and Kirk Cousins league high ninety six completions one

(58:57):
thousand and seventy five yards, nine touchdowns. But the question here,
will kirk Cousins finished the season with the Vikings so interesting?
A lot of subplots in this game today. I like
the Vikings though, I really do.

Speaker 1 (59:09):
Yeah well, and kirk Cousins is putting up the numbers
and playing well. But then you also have that moment
I can't get it out of my head, like I
watched Staley try and lose the game for the Chargers
by going forward on fourth and one and running the
football when he hadn't run the football well during the
entire game. At your negative twenty three right, So you're
giving Kirk Cousins and the Vikings every opportunity to beat you,

(59:31):
and I'm shook it to this moment that Cousins gets
that first and goal and just doesn't spike the ball.
It's the hardest part for me to figure out, because
for all of the good that we've seen from Kirk Cousins,
he actually made it more difficult for his team to
win a football game. I think they should have won
in the end by not spiking the football and just
doing what a veteran quarterback does. I can't make sense

(59:53):
of why Minnesota isn't good enough right now, but they
just haven't been. It's like everyone talks about those one
score games regressed to the means at some point. I
get that, but I mean, Minnesota should have at least
one on one win on the record, and they're taking
on a Carolina team that I don't think is any good.
So I think Minnesota wins this game.

Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
Yeah, you know, you say, why isn't Minnesota doing better?
I think they really truly missed Dalvin Cook. Their running
game hurts, and again you're talking about all these yards
that Kirk Cousins is completed with ninety six completions. It
makes them sort of a one dimensional ball club. Forget
about the defense. I just think that you have to
have the running game that set up the passing game.

Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
Yeah, I'm buying what they're selling there. You're right, And
you know, it's kind of interesting that the Vikings, by
their transactions this offseason, I think they told you that
they expected to take a little bit of a step back,
Like they let some people go, they extended younger contracts.
It feels like the Vikings accepted that this was going
to be a bridge year to me in a lot
of ways. Now, it's interesting that they're playing better than

(01:00:51):
their record, but their record is actually helping them if
it is a bridge year. But the loss of Dalvin
Cook at this point doesn't make a ton of sense
because Madison was supposed to be an instant step in
replacement and it just hasn't been that. Like they're just
not running the ball the way that they can or
they should. So I'm with you. I think it makes
them one dimensional and really predictable.

Speaker 3 (01:01:10):
Andy Dalton was quarterbacking last week for Carolina. He threw
for three hundred and sixty one yards a career high
fifty eight attempts. You know what, if you want to
do a statistical situation and look on Monday morning, if
a quarterback has more than thirty five or forty attempts,
there's a pretty good chance they're going to.

Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
Lose the game because they're forced to throw. Don't you agree?
I surprise.

Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
No one's really done that stat Maybe they have. I
haven't seen it, but thirty five to forty attempts or more,
and then look at the final score, good chance that
team lost the game.

Speaker 1 (01:01:39):
Well, and think about it earlier I simplified the Taylor
Swift headline of just you know, super famous rich pop
star sits in luxury sweet during game. Let me oversimplify
the headline here, backup quarterback throws the ball too much? Right, like,
I don't care that Andy Dalton's played a bunch in
the NFL. Andy Dalton is a backup quarterback. And you know,
Frank Reich is supposed to be in this position because

(01:02:00):
A he's going to develop Bryce Young and B he
knows what to do with quarterbacks. But can we start
having honest conversations about what's happening now with quarterbacks under
his watch? Because I didn't understand the play calling. I
didn't understand the approach. I didn't understand why they were
utilizing Dalton in that way. Like Andy Dalton is not
Dan Marino, so let's stop treating him like he is,
Like he's a backup quarterback, and they put way too
much on his plate. My opinion in that.

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
Game, I think Bryce Young. Reports say he's going to
play today although he's got that bad ankle, But they
say Bryce Sung will play. It's not about Dan Marino.
I love those commercials that he may be playing again.
With those glasses. He couldn't even see the plays on
his wrist, right, have you seen those?

Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
I forgot what it's for. Is an insurance coming?

Speaker 3 (01:02:39):
I don't even know, but I know I saw the
old timers and Dan Marino was right there and it
looked pretty good.

Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
I just think Dan Marino.

Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
Never ever got the respect he deserved, simply because he
never won a Super Bowl. But I still say that
Dan Marino was the godfather of the forward pass when
he started playing quarterback. That's when the game changed and
started passing the ball big time. Marino and he doesn't
get the credit he deserves.

Speaker 1 (01:03:02):
Which, by the way, I use him as an example
a lot for the exact reason you just said. We
constantly now in today's society have decided that life is
championship or bust, and legacy is championship or bust, and
you can't be a great player unless you won super
Like I genuinely believe that if we were in modern times,
if we were covering football back then like we cover

(01:03:23):
football in modern times, I genuinely believe that Marino would
have been trashed the entire time. And it's just a travesty,
Like there's never gonna be a situation where I'm gonna
put Trent Dilfer ahead of Dan Marino. In today's society,
that's what we want to do, because well, you know,
you gotta win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
No, I'm reading no Hall of Fame and that makes
me crazy, and translate that to baseball, Arnie Banks would
never be in the Hall of Fame then, really, I
mean think about.

Speaker 1 (01:03:45):
It, and it's it comes back to like team sports.
One person. When you got an active roster of fifty
three players on every Sunday and you've got twenty two
starters coming into this, I don't care who's playing quarterback.
One person can win a team of Super Bowl one
person could certainly help or hurt, but one person cannot
single handedly win a team of Super Bowl. So let's

(01:04:06):
stop it about talking about legacies like that's everything, because frankly,
you can be the best in the world of what
you do and still not win a Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
You're exactly right, you know what to me, let me
see the numbers. It's all about the numbers for MVP,
Hall of Fame, whatever it may be, you know, And
you got a guy like Eli Manning, not tremendous numbers,
but he won two Super Bowls.

Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
He'll be in the Hall of Fame. I find that
to be a joke.

Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
I really do. My buddy John McClain that used to
write for the Houston Chronicle, and John's been a friend
for a long time, and John said to me years ago,
he's a Hall of Fame voter, and he said, you know,
to oversimplify sometimes you just got to ask yourself when
the schedule came out, did every opposing fan base look
at a team and say, oh my god, we have
to take on that guy that's Hall of Fame? Like

(01:04:49):
to oversimplify, there's this level of when I was a
kid and you knew you were playing the Dolphins. Man,
if your team didn't have a good secondary, you knew
you were cooked because you were playing the Dolphins. And
there there are some players in today's game that are
like that.

Speaker 6 (01:05:02):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
I mentioned Miles Garrett earlier. I think if you're a
fan and you see that you're taking on Miles Garrett
right now, you're looking at it and saying, my god,
how do we stop that guy? There have been plenty
of quarterbacks and that when the schedule came out, how
many people were sitting there saying, oh, man, we got
to take on Eli this ooh, I don't know. I
know the two Super Bowls. Everybody gets cranky about it,
but you know, as a Raiders fan, I'll remind everybody
that plunk It won some Super Bowls too.

Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
You're exactly right.

Speaker 3 (01:05:25):
He's Jason fitz if a bucket Brooks' main Defirman. By
the way, we're brought to you by Discover credit cards.

Speaker 2 (01:05:34):

Wired gives you all your sports.

Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Uh, the Ryder Cup Final day in action right now.
The Europeans with a ten and a half to five
and a half lead over the Americans entering the final
day of play. John rom Scotti Shuffler the furthest long.
They are tied with each other through nine holes. Victor
Hoveland two up on Colin Moricawa through eight. Patrick Cantley
is two up on Justin Rose through seven. Roy McElroy

(01:06:11):
two up on Sam Burns through six. In the NFL,
we have some injury updates for you, Adam Schefter saying
that Derek Carr is expected to start versus the Bucks
despite a sprained ac joined and barring a pregame setback,
he'll be on the field for New Orleans. Other updates.

(01:06:32):
Deebo Samuel he missed last week's game because of rib
and knee injuries. He is expected to play versus the
Cardinals today. However, Dwan Jennings and Elijah Mitchell not expected
to take the field against the Cardinals. Jimmy Garoppolo still
in concussion protocol, so he will not be playing today
against the Chargers, and we thought, okay, Brian Hoyer the backup,

(01:06:54):
we'd get the start, but no, Ian Rappaport's saying. The
Raiders expected to start rookie quarterback Aiden O'Connell in the
place of Jimmy Garoppolo Hollywood Brown, He's listed as questionable
with a thumb injury. He's expected to play against the
forty nine Ers. Same for Panther's running back Miles Sanders.
He has a groin injury. He is expected to be

(01:07:16):
on the field. Chase Claypool gonna be inactive today, so
Chicago gonna go with Equanimius Saint Brown to take a
spot on the roster for today. Tyson Baggett will be
the new backup quarterback for Justin Fields. And just some
quick college football scores from Saturday. Top Break Georgia wins

(01:07:39):
twenty seven to twenty at Auburn, Number eight usc holds
off a comeback from Colorado forty eight to forty one,
and number eleven Notre Dame a touchdown with thirty seconds
left to beat Number seventeen Duke twenty one to fourteen.

Speaker 3 (01:07:50):
Back to you guys, Thanks keevsey In and now now
it was the most memorable player of the week. We'll
get to that in just about a minute. And he's
Jason fitz coming in for Bucket Brooks. I'm Andy Ferman.

(01:08:11):
Bona barrel. Benning coming up at about eight nine minutes
from now. But right now we're talking about the Rams
at the Colts. And how do you beat the Rams
real easy? You contain wide receiver pa Nakuta, Puka Nakuta.
He had five catches for seventy two yards Monday night
in Cincinnati against the Bengals. And look, no sacks for
the Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. That's what you gotta do,

(01:08:32):
because he was sacked six times Monday night against the Bengals.
That's how you beat the La Rams. But today the
Rams played the Colts. I don't think the Rams should
have a problem against the Colts.

Speaker 1 (01:08:43):
The Colts are one of the surprises of the early
portion of the season. For me, frankly, I thought they
were going to be just dreadful, an abject disaster, and
they have been really far more competitive. I'll give Shane
Stike in the new head coach, a lot of credit.
It feels like he's had the right offense from the
outset for Anthony Richardson. And I'll give the organization credit
for bringing in Gardner Minshew. Like having a strong backup

(01:09:04):
quarterback is already it's apparent quickly in the season that
you've got to have a number two on your roster
you can trust. And the fact that Gardner Minshew was
able to go in and execute the offense as well
as he did. The Cardinals have been sneaky competitive obviously
in every single at the Cardinals. The Colts have been
sneaky competitive in every single game so far throughout the
course of this year, and that means something. I mean,

(01:09:25):
I did not think they would beat the Ravens last week.
They did. It took a little bit of luck there
at the end, but they still get that win. So
for me, I think the Ravens are good. Lord Everere,
the Colts are going to be the type of team
that are going to keep games close that being said, Man,
the Rams this year are better than we thought they'd be.
And you mentioned Pokinakua, but I'll also say two two

(01:09:46):
at well, like they got funny named wide receivers, they
can get a bunch of yards in a bunch of ways.
I think the Rams win this game. But at the
same time, I'm looking over here sort of tip of
the cap, because I feel like the Colts are far
better than anybody myself and luted expected they would be.

Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
Yeah, and especially without Jonathan Taylor at their running back position.
He's still sidelined. Anthony Richardson is supposed to play today
for the Colts. Got to protect this guy. And look,
without that run game, they just don't have the skilled
players the Rams have. That's the end of the day, right,
bottom line is they don't have all the skilled players
the Rams do. And I'm surprised, like you are, that
the Rams are going to be this good. I mean,
they can be a playoff team.

Speaker 1 (01:10:21):
I think they should be, which, by the way, is
sort of this reminder of trust. Sometimes inside the building
they have a better sense than we do outside of it. Now,
no coach is gonna come out and say, hey, we're
gonna stink this year. Like I get that, no front
office is gonna say that. But the Rams have been
pretty confident in their plan from the outset, and we've
been sitting around in general watching from the outside, saying, well,

(01:10:42):
should they just get rid of everybody? Is Aaron Donald
going to retire? Like what are they going to do?
How are they going to be competitive? And you're right,
right now, they look like a playoff caliber football team.
Do they look like they're elite against the forty nine
ers and teams like that? I don't think so, But
there certainly look like they certainly look like they can
score on anybody. They look like Sean McVay is still
Sean McVeigh. Like there are things that we just started

(01:11:02):
to take for granted and started to assume that the
Rams were not going to be good at And guess
what they still are because there's still a really well
coached team that has a quarterback that's playing with confidence,
that understands the system and knows what to do, and
is making the best out of young wide receivers because
there's so much experience and offensive minds in that organization.
So I think the Rams have really shown to the
world that they are built to handle the waves that

(01:11:24):
come with being good here and being good there and
how to make it last.

Speaker 3 (01:11:27):
Right, And look, I'm with you on that. I think
the Rams win this game. But he took about tremendous minds.
I'm talking about the Steelers game. The Steelers are two
and one. There were the Texans one and two. One
of I mean by that, whoever decided to do this
today is somewhat of a genius. What am I talking about?
The emotions are going to be tremendous today. As the
franchise legend of the Texans, JJ Watt is going to

(01:11:49):
be inducted into the team's Ring of Honor today. However,
his little brother is going to be there and he
probably going to try to spoil the day he plays
for the Steelers.

Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
How do you like that?

Speaker 3 (01:11:58):
I mean, is that amazing. I'm sure the parents will
be at that game as well. So JJ Watt's going
to the Ring of Honor and TJ is going to
be playing for the Steelers against him today, against his
team's former team.

Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
Today.

Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
I think that the Steelers win this game. They're a
better team. And I mentioned about this player of the
week for the Texans. The player of the Week in
the NFL the full back Andrew Beck. He returned the
kickoff eighty five yards for a score while I was
at the player of the week. This guy's two hundred
and fifty five pounds the heaviest player in league history
to score on a kickoff. Player of the Week last week.

Speaker 1 (01:12:31):
Oh yeah, I'm with you one hundred percent of that.
This is interesting too, because what little brother doesn't want us,
you know, spoil their big brothers moment, right right, spoken
is a little brother. I think that that's a fair thing,
but it's it's for the Steelers. Let's be real. They
took advantage of a bad Raiders defense last week and
they started to look a little more competent, but they

(01:12:52):
still didn't look good. I do think this is that
interesting test of where are the Steelers. Are they actually
going to be able to put together a competent offense
this year? I don't think so. I'm with you. I
think they get to win. But also, to use the
dreaded term from college football, the eye test is going
to matter every week right now. I still don't think
as much as we love Canny Piickett in the preseason,
Kenny Piickett doesn't look like he has a firm grasp

(01:13:14):
on what he's doing right now. They can have all
the weapons in the world, it just doesn't look right offensively.
And if the Steelers can't get that offense right, there
is no way they're going to be able to compete
in that division or in the AFC. Like the AFC
right now is so stacked with teams that can score
twenty one points quickly. If you're not one of those teams,
you better be able to make sure that nobody can

(01:13:35):
score on you. You can be Cleveland and have that
defense and say, hey, we may not have the offense
yet that everybody else has, but we'll be just fine.
I don't think the Steelers can say that right now.
So yeah, I think they win the game. But this
isn't just about wins and losses. This is about how
does it look in the process as we try and
evaluate whether or not the Steelers are truly competitive in
the AFC playoff picture.

Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
Yeah, and that AFC newth is really going to stop
showing the true colors to the next couple of weeks
because after today, the Steelers play Baltimore next week, so
things are gonna be jockeying around for a couple of weeks.
But I will tell you this much. We're gonna see
what kind of a I mean, look, I know what
kind of coaching is. Mike Tomlin's great. He's a Hall
of Fame coach. He got them in the playoffs last
year by a nose, he really did. We'll see what
he does this year. And again I'm with you. I mean,

(01:14:15):
defense is gonna carry him. But how far could you
get carried by defense?

Speaker 2 (01:14:19):
I think not.

Speaker 3 (01:14:19):
Jay Harris, he needs to be a key part of
that offense running the football. I just don't know if
he can. That's the problem. He is a heck of
a runner, but is he that good enough to carry
them all the way to a playoff? I don't know,
Especially in that division. Can three teams make the playoffs
in that division? Cleveland, Baltimore and Cincinnati, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
I don't think so, only because there's gonna be so
many there's gonna be a fight for the playoffs. The
Chargers may not be good, any good, any good yet,
but I'm still not gonna count him out. And then
in the East, you've still got either the Dolphins or
the Bills. Are gonna be looking at a wild card,
so it's going to be really tough to make the playoffs.
For three teams in one division to make the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:14:58):
I'm with you right there. But you do like the
Steelers in a close one today to win in Texas.

Speaker 1 (01:15:03):
Yeah, I like the Steelers to win in Texas, but
I don't. I think the story Monday will be the
Steelers won, But are we still confident in them?

Speaker 5 (01:15:10):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
Right, especially in Pittsburgh, that's what the story will be.

Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
You're right about that.

Speaker 1 (01:15:15):
All right.

Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
He's Jason Fitz, I'm Andy Furman. He's in for Bucky Brooks,
and of course we are Fox Football Sunday on Fox
Bot's Radio. Now it's time for fits to show as
true collars. Why because bottom barrel betting. It's freaking next
bottom barrel betting coming right up. This is Fox Football
Sunday on Fox Bots Radio. He's Jason Fits in for

(01:15:35):
Bucky Brooks. I'm Andy Furman, and of course we're alive
for the Tirack dot Com studios.

Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
But we got a game to play. Let's do it.
It's bottom bottom mill.

Speaker 1 (01:15:44):
You late put money to sleep people, get my money.
I'll put your brain to sleep betting.

Speaker 3 (01:15:49):
All right, Shay, say you got to explain the rules
to Fitzie how you play bottom barrel betting because he's
playing for Bucky.

Speaker 6 (01:15:55):
I guess right, Yeah, so we got Fits in for
Bucky today. All right, So it's a pretty simple game.
It's pretty easy. I'm gonna give you guys five different bets,
and you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
Are basically talking about who won last week, so.

Speaker 6 (01:16:07):
You actually won. Unfortunately you can't rub it in Bucky's
face right now.

Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
Well I will.

Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
I'm gonna send him a telegram to London.

Speaker 6 (01:16:14):
Oh yeah, yeah, telegram you gotta love.

Speaker 1 (01:16:15):
Don't interrupt his tea time. He'll be very angry, right.

Speaker 6 (01:16:19):
But anyway, So yeah, you guys choose what you want
in the bet. You take the person that you guys like.
And the difference is these bets are gonna be bets
that you've probably never seen, you've probably never bet on,
or even a sport that you've never even known was
a thing.

Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
So you ready, Oh yeah, all right, Fitzgals first, he's
our guest, fitz Goals first.

Speaker 6 (01:16:38):
So fits you're going first. So with our first question
in the Snooker English Open, Robert Milkins is taking on
Robert Robbie Williams on Sunday, October second, at two am
Pacific Standard time. The line is set at Robert Wilkins
with minus one forty five and Robbie Williams at plus
one oh eight. And again, this is the Snooker English

(01:16:59):
Open Snooker Snooker.

Speaker 1 (01:17:02):
Okay, so I have to decide who I'm taking here, yeah,
and this is oh yeah, that's super easy. I'm taking
Robbie Williams, like, there's no doubt about that, because Robbi
Williams also happens to be the name of a pop
star that made some great music that I really like,
and he was the lead singer Take That a boy
band in the nineties, Robbie Williams all day.

Speaker 2 (01:17:19):
I like the logic, I really do, but I'm gonna
find it. I'm going with the other guy, really, Robert Wilkins.

Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
Yeah, I'm going with Wilkins because he's probably related to
Lenny Wilkins, who was a great basketball I like that.

Speaker 1 (01:17:29):
I like that. All right, good good, all.

Speaker 6 (01:17:31):
Right, on to the next one. In the Women's International
Handball champions League, Herning Ecust, which is a returner, is
taking on RK Krim Lidge Jublana Henrique Cust is minus
two seventy five and Krim Jublana is plus three hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:17:48):
Can you get easier names place?

Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
I mean, really? Okay, So I'm gonna take The first
name is Enrique Black.

Speaker 6 (01:17:57):
This is the first name is Herring cost and then
the second name is r. K. Krim Lynch Blanche.

Speaker 1 (01:18:06):
Herring is something that people eat in fancy restaurants. So
I'm taking Harring.

Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
I don't even know who Herring is.

Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
I don't like Herring, but I'm taking any costs because
I can't pronounce the other guys with a woman's name,
I can't pronounce it. I can't spell it. The name
looks like an I chart, it really does. But I'm
going with a cost.

Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
All right, let's go so that Herring isn't the same person.
That is the same person, but is a forge Fish.

Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
I had to look it up. There we go to forgefish.

Speaker 6 (01:18:29):
He gave you the win last week. Actually, so in
the Chick Table Tennis League of Pro, Eric more is
taking on Joseph Medic at seven am Pacific Standard time
later today. Eric Marez is minus one twi, while Joseph
Medic is minus one fifteen.

Speaker 1 (01:18:46):
Could you give me those two names again in a
little bit more like a ringside announcer form. That's gonna
help me make my decision here, Eric Mora.

Speaker 2 (01:18:56):
And Joseph Medic.

Speaker 1 (01:19:00):
Definitely the first guy. I'm taking the first guy. Yeah,
it's just the little roll of the yard that you
put on there that.

Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
Was Yeah, I'm in the future in this, really, I think.
So okay, you know, I gotta ask you one question.
Is it Joseph Medica Joseph Medik. That's a big difference,
you see.

Speaker 1 (01:19:16):
What is it?

Speaker 6 (01:19:17):
I had to do both because I wasn't I looked
up the pronunciation. I couldn't find his pronunciation anywhere, so
I had to do both.

Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
I'll take them both. I'll take Joseph and Josef. I'll
take them both.

Speaker 6 (01:19:25):
So in the counter Strike Global Offensive ESL Pro League
Season eighteen, not Tess Vincire is taking on Moos in
a few hours out of around seven oh five am
six standard time. Not Tess Vincire is minus one oh
nine while Moose is minus one twenty. And this is
an eest sports game.

Speaker 1 (01:19:43):
If you guys didn't know, Look, you are giving me
somebody that is Obviously I don't know anything about this
particular outing, but there's obviously the share of their industry. Anytime,
you can have one name and that's it. So you're
you're telling me somebody's taking a moose and that's one name.
I'm in on that. Like, if you got one name,
you are a badass. So I guess one name.

Speaker 3 (01:20:03):
Well, you know, I I don't like going with my
partner and agreeing with him, but I do like the moose.

Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
The moose.

Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
I mean, you got a nickname, you're a good shit.
You got one name, you're good. Libarachi had one name, right,
he was good. Everybody right, you get one name. I
mean that means you everybody knows you. But I hat
one name. Boom, I'm taking him the moose.

Speaker 6 (01:20:22):
Let's see this quick. The darths world, Grady is taken off.
I got Martin Schindler and Raymond Van Bard Denville. Who
you guys got Raymond or Martin Raymond?

Speaker 2 (01:20:29):
O'ks take the Van Man the Van Man. Here we go, Yeah,
let's go. It is a beautiful Fox Football Sunday, early
one for y'all. Hopefully you set your fantasy lineups or
are working to do so. Why because Jacksonville and Atlanta
are gonna give us a gift here in about ninety
minutes from now, and I will be all wrapped attention.

(01:20:50):
I'm the Toy Story part of it. Mike Carving alongside
Andy Furman and Jason Fitz. That's wry Bucky Brooks on
the call. So we'll get all his impressions of going
across the pod. What did he eat, where did he drink?
Did he see anybody famous? We'll find all that out
next week. We welcome in our colleague Jason Fits with
us this morning, Andy fellas, I've been listening. I have

(01:21:11):
a lot of bones to pick with both of you,
but we'll get to that in a minute. But how
are y'all doing this morning? Not that good?

Speaker 1 (01:21:18):
Now?

Speaker 3 (01:21:18):
Have you said that I'm ready? I'm ready for a fight. Okay,
I'm ready. You're ready for a fight.

Speaker 5 (01:21:22):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
How about you, Jason? How are you welcome to the party?

Speaker 1 (01:21:26):
Look, I'm great. I just want to tell you, as
you say, you're all in on the Toy Story thing.
The year I moved to Nashville ninety six, right, I
walk into this place in the Lower Broadway, which was
very different back then. I walk in and I try
on the cowboy hat for the first time of my life,
because I you know, we got to fit the part.
Yeah right, I put on the cowboy hat. The sales
guy from across the room it looks at me and says, hey, man,
you look like Woody from Toy Story with that thing on.

(01:21:48):
Never put a cowboy hat on it ever since. And
I'm still a little mad about it. So I'm not
watching the Toy Story version. I'm out.

Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
I think you should have leaned into that as far
as you can. And that's the point I'm going to
bring up with something I heard on my drive in
Here in a moment, we're broadcasting live from the tyrack
dot com studios tyraq dot com. We'll help you get
there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tyraq dot com the
way tire buying should be. All right, let me preface

(01:22:16):
this by setting up our first game, because really it's
the game we're all going to be watching, and a
lot of new friends are joining the party.

Speaker 1 (01:22:28):
It's a cancer, you.

Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
Know, mister Burns, You're the richest guy I know.

Speaker 3 (01:22:32):
Way Richard and Lenny.

Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
Yeah, yes, but I'd trade it all for a little more.
So our first game today comes later on the Glory
of She Said Jets, and we're welcoming a new audience
into all of the party. Guys. As a promoter of
a racetrack, as a man who was a musical director

(01:22:56):
for a band and playing for years, and as radio
hosts and TV radio personalities, what do we do? We
look for the pop whenever we could get I heard
you talking about eighties wrestling with Shay. Okay. The idea
is wherever we can find some audience, even if they
only come in for a couple of weeks, or for

(01:23:16):
a quick hit on the charts, or a racetrack promotion.
Hey it's dollar night. Hey it's shown me you've been
married more than five years night. Whatever the case is,
come to my wedding night, Andy Furman, you lean into it.
So if the Swifties are only here for three weeks
before she goes back on tour, because she goes back

(01:23:37):
on tour on October eighteenth. Okay, come on in, get
your friendship bracelets. I got mine ready. I'm gonna be
handing about at the bar later on tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
Baby, let's go Okay, I'm hearing what you're saying, but
I'm not buying it. Okay, you're right, there are certain
there are certain situations that need promotion. The National Football
League doesn't need promotion.

Speaker 2 (01:23:56):
Did you not hear mister Burns tell you exactly the situation.
I can have it played back to you again. Okay,
I get it. I was married at a racetrack.

Speaker 3 (01:24:05):
We needed an opening night promotion had Latonia Racecourse in Florence, Kentucky.

Speaker 1 (01:24:10):
Back in the day.

Speaker 3 (01:24:10):
I told the general manager, I'll get married that night,
and I did. Allay, we needed it. No, you know,
in the scheme of things, in the pecking order of
news in the Cincinnati Greatest Cincinnati Area Racetrack, horse racing
was way down the list.

Speaker 2 (01:24:24):
It was pro SMOs, the Reds, it was the Bengals,
it was.

Speaker 3 (01:24:27):
College sports, it was high school sports, and then maybe
maybe horse racing. Okay, we got a bump when I
got married that night. Okay, we made sports illustrated.

Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
It was a big deal.

Speaker 3 (01:24:37):
But the NFL it cheapens the product. When you got
them inviting Taylor Swift to your games, it doesn't. It
just disgusting, it really is. They don't need it.

Speaker 2 (01:24:48):
The Canadian Football League needs it. I've got Green Day
at the Great Cup later on in November.

Speaker 1 (01:24:55):
Anyway, go ahead, I'm gon chime in on this to
just say, first and foremost name drop shout out to
my good buddy Matt Billingsley, who's been Taylor's drummer for
most of her career.

Speaker 2 (01:25:03):
I made tickets for Ireland. Jason, we'll need to talk.

Speaker 1 (01:25:06):
I can't get you comps, but I can get you buys.
Hit me up on the side. So here's the thing
I would say to this. I have no like. I
think it's a great story, right, but at some point
you go from being a great story to stage five clinger.
What I don't understand is why the NFL is now
stage five plinger. Like it's cool to say, hey, she's
here at the game. I don't really look forward to
listening to Chris collins Worth make forced Taylor Swift analogies

(01:25:28):
all night long.

Speaker 2 (01:25:30):
You know what a week better our Fox colleagues, and
I love them both. They struggled with it last week
as if they didn't know who she really was.

Speaker 1 (01:25:39):
But here's the thing, Like I've watched everybody, every single
sports person that people I respect putting out videos using
all the song titles and everything, and I'm like, guys,
how thirsty are we for this? Like I get it.
It's like, oh, yeah, that's really cool. She's if you
show up at a party and Taylor Swift is there,
you can react for like thirty seconds where you can
be like, oh my god, I can't believe Tata's here, right,
But at the end of that then you just got

(01:26:01):
to normalize the whole thing and be like, yeah, no,
it's cool, like Tellers hanging out in the Halloween party
over there. Like you just gotta let it go at
some point.

Speaker 3 (01:26:08):
That's where, right, here's the bottom line you want. The
bottom line is Travis Kelcey is too stupid that he's
being used by Taylor Swift because Taylor Swift holds on
the NFL audience. Oh that's the bottom line, Travis, Travis
Kelsey's an idiot.

Speaker 2 (01:26:19):
Travis Cosy's getting two thirds of every jersey sold for
the last week. Andy Right, he just made millions and
millions of dollars and people who had no idea who
the hell he was, no matter how big he is
in our world and whether he hosts Saturday Night Live
or shows up on a bunch of commercials. He's just
a guy. Now he's Taylor's guy now. Eventually he's going

(01:26:39):
to be the subject of many a breakup song and
it goes badly the other way, and he'll be the
scourge of every teenage girl. But in the meantime, dude
is making bank and his Q rating is off the charts.
He was the face of the.

Speaker 3 (01:26:52):
NFL before, before Taylor Swift got involved. You know, talk
up Pat Mahoons if you wont Travis Kelce. Today is
the face of the NFL.

Speaker 1 (01:27:00):
And in case of the NFL cannot at all compete
with the actual platform of this generation's Michael Jackson, which
is exactly if you saw the videos of the last week,
Taylor Swift was playing the football stadium that had a
football stadium, with the people in the parking lot watching it.
Her numbers far eclipsed with the NFL's entire number would
get globally, but that Taylor Swift is the biggest.

Speaker 2 (01:27:21):
She's also doing an active charity to us, all guys.
She showed up for a game against the Bears. Did
anybody talk about how bad the Bears were all weak? No,
it was about Taylor Swift showing up and Jared Payton
being in the hallway son of Walter and getting that video.
This week she showed up against the Jets. Are you
I didn't have to Janny wore hits. How she's being

(01:27:44):
removed in a popcorn machine. That's the stuff I don't
want to hear. I don't need to hear that stuff.
She's there, big whoop, she's there. Don't tell me how
she got in, how she's getting out. I don't want
to hear that stuff. That means you were spending a
lot more time, Jason, when I and he spent more
time on this than he's admitting to.

Speaker 1 (01:28:01):
I'm just saying, nobody wants my conspiracy theory on this,
But Mike it if it's all the work, I think
it's a work leading up to some sort of a
Super Bowl ad and there's a company behind all of
it that will put Kelsey and Taylor together for a
Super Bowl ad. Remember she's so popular. She said no
to the halftime show.

Speaker 2 (01:28:18):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (01:28:18):
If she if this is a work like this has
gotta be for a lot of money.

Speaker 2 (01:28:22):
No, but that look, that doesn't have to be one
hundred percent one thing or the other. Like it's the
thing Smith that I have argued about all week. It's
like they might like each other, might be cool hanging out,
they've got some of the same management. All of these
things doesn't mean that we we're going down the road
to hey, maybe here's holy matrimony at the race course
officiated by Andy Furman. It's the idea. It's the idea

(01:28:43):
that you have the opportunity to get a pop and
co brand the two biggest machines in our world, right
the NFL and Taylor Swi. They announced Usher. We talked
about it last week. It broke, you know, as we
were doing some things last Sunday, and like, all right
that it didn't matter. Carrie Underwood was the big guest.
He was going to show up at Sunday Night football.

(01:29:04):
Did anybody care? No, it was all about Taylor Swift.
So you want to talk about co opting everything the
NFL wants to do, Yeah, you lean into it. Today
they're giving away friendship bracelets. I'm gonna do my best
to get each of you one of those from the game.

Speaker 1 (01:29:16):
Oh please, do you know I'll work on those Dublin
tickets for you.

Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
I appreciate that now, look, I pay, don't. I don't.
I don't beg for freebies, Jason, That's the one thing
about me. I'll pay. I did pay through the nose
from my standing room only to see Taylor with my
sequin jacket here in LA. But let's talk about the
game itself. Kansas City eight and a half, BOYD favorites
forty one and a half. Aaron Rodgers will be in attendance.
As we surmised, he is a swifty so you knew

(01:29:42):
he at least had to come make an audience. Is
he also the play caller? Does he become the de
facto coordinator tonight to try to get something out of
Zach Wilson. I mean he saw the game.

Speaker 3 (01:29:54):
I'd like to see Joe namathshoba the game because he's
the guys is killing Zach Wilson. Leave Zach Wilson alone.
You know what, It's not his fault if the ball
club keeps on rolling him out. His management's fulled right,
think about that. Don't blame Zach Wilson. They gave him
three freaking chances to be the quarterback of this team.
In unlast year they were seven to four, and then

(01:30:14):
he had that stupid news conference who said it wasn't
his fault and he lost the team and they still
wheel him back in. All right, get rid of him
if you don't like him, but don't be bad now
from the guy.

Speaker 1 (01:30:25):
He never should have been the backup quarterback coming into
this year at all. They should have acquired somebody else.
This is a summer mistake that's rearing its head in
the fall. And the fact is they should have known
that there was at least a situation where he could
have been put into a game, because this is the
modern NFL. I said earlier, he got to address your
number two spot. They didn't address their number two spot.
And now they're in a situation where a quarterback that

(01:30:45):
likes to drop back twenty five yards and throw off
his back foot to throw five yards in the air.
Like it's just a bad situation. I don't think anybody
could play call the way out of where this is.
For Zach Wilson, it's in his head, it's in their heads.
I think they're gonna get absolutely rolled. I've got Kansas
City and the points in this one, and I'm confident
on that.

Speaker 2 (01:31:03):
I have absolutely no reason to believe the Jets do
anything unless they suddenly remember you know, at tricks work
and your run game with Breise Hall, occasionally you have
to throw the ball, put the ball in his gut
and try to make something happen. But Rogers being there,
like you spent a lot of money on him backup positions,
you decided you couldn't. I mean, Mike White went and

(01:31:24):
got good money down in Miami. Right, He's a nice
insurance for Tua as we saw a little bit of
him getting to throw it around last week in that
debacle against Denver. They decided not to put more money
in because they also tailored everything towards Aaron Rodgers outside
of Garrett Wilson. What do you got a bunch of
former Packers in their ninth lives like their damn cats.

Speaker 3 (01:31:45):
I will tell you this what Sean Payton was right.
Nathaniel Hackett looks coming.

Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
Well, and Sean Payton looks like he should be back
on a Fox couch.

Speaker 3 (01:31:52):
No, you're exactly rep but he's right about Nathaniel Hackett.
Hackett looks lost and he looks too predictable through the
first three weeks. There's no doubt about that, really, And
maybe you're right, Maybe Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (01:32:02):
Is gonna call a place today. I don't know, if
nothing else, maybe he's got some of those uh little
things that he does in the off season, some mantras
and stuff that can get Zach Wilson in the right
frame of mind.

Speaker 1 (01:32:13):
I love the concept that we're like, hey, Zach, don't
worry about practice this week. We're just gonna go to
a dark space for three days and see if we
can exercise your demons. I I don't know what would help,
but maybe it's worth the shot. And nothing else is working,
nothing else is working.

Speaker 2 (01:32:26):
I do like the Peyton U and Hacket thing, guys,
I've long said it's now the Spider Man meme.

Speaker 1 (01:32:32):
Yeah, maybe both of them are are living proof that
coaching isn't as easy when you don't have a Hall
of Fame quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:32:37):
No. Yeah, And for old Sean, remember remember when he
went after Hackett and everybody's like he's building up Russell Wilson. No, no, no,
he set him up as the fall guys, fellas that was.
That was before I said it, before the season. I
say it now. It's like he's set it up because
when it goes bad, it can't be on him. He's
a super genius, right.

Speaker 1 (01:32:55):
That's it though.

Speaker 2 (01:32:56):
Next Sunday is the big one, the showdown. They were
at Denver. The Jets are Yeah, a game Taylor Swift
should show up for charity purposes. There, Andy Furman, Jason
Fitz up, Mike Carbon Here, Fox Football Sunday, Fox Sports Radio.
We're brought to you by Progressive Insurance, Progressive Bikes, butuntling

we got the Simpsons and mister Burns in some Taylor
Swift love. And now we will continue through the rest
of the slate of week four in this National Football League.
And coming up next, Yeah, we'll get into My team stinks,
Jason Fitz's team stinks, and they're gonna put a new

(01:33:37):
quarterback in. We'll talk all about it, coming up next
here on Fox. Welcome back in Fox Sports Radios, Fox
Football Sunday, lathered up, ready to go get in there
and sell, sell, Sell. We heard the promo for Major
League Baseball playoffs on Fox. Mike Carbon alongside Andy Furman
and our guy Jason Fitz joining us today as we're

(01:33:59):
coming to you from the Tire Studios, and gentlemen, Andy,
I go to you first, just a quick nod on baseball.
I was really kind of hoping the Marlins were going
to be able to tell major League Baseball to beat
it about going back to see the Mets on Monday.
But now they've written and said, well, you don't have
to do that, right, it's too bad.

Speaker 3 (01:34:17):
Dumb With the Reds, I thought the Reds had a shot.
I mean, no one expected anything about.

Speaker 2 (01:34:22):
The Reds this year.

Speaker 3 (01:34:22):
They're so cool, Experts saying they'd lose one hundred games,
and you know, now, David bell Is one has had
a winning record for the last four years of this
ball club. And they were this close, see my fingers overhere,
this close look getting to the playoffs. But they won
big on Friday night. Yesterday they just collapsed, really fifteen
to six. I think it was that Lise to Saint Louis.

Speaker 1 (01:34:43):
And that was it.

Speaker 3 (01:34:44):
But I went to the final day of the season,
which is a great situation. However, that does not preclude
that next year is going to be successful. And a
lot of people are saying oh wait till next year
is gonna be great. Yeah, it's a good foundation, but
you never know what could happen.

Speaker 1 (01:34:56):
I think that's the toughest part, by the way of
what we've watched over the course of the last few days,
is that the reminder that when you're coming into this
sort of a situation, you have multiple teams fighting for
that last spot after the marathon that is Major League
Baseball season. After you survive all of that, you take
this collective side and you think, well, we'll get him
next year, will you Like? The sport changes so much

(01:35:16):
every year, and it was so unexpected that they would
be that successful that it just feels like that's why
you have to capitalize, I think more than any other sport.
If you get through the marathon of Major League Baseball
and you can't capitalize on it, it's really defeating for
the organization, for fans, for everybody, because you want to say, hey,
you know better than I expected. But then you realize
you got to run that whole marathon all the way
again and hope to God that you get a different answer.

(01:35:39):
It's just it's deflating. I think. So I'm sort of
I'm bummed for fan bases that are sitting out watching
this expanded playoff happen the way it is.

Speaker 2 (01:35:46):
Yeah, I'm gonna, you know, just profess my love for
Joey Vado here in this moment, not only because he's
playing the narrator in SpongeBob, which is great, but for
a great career, being a good dude and all of
those things. And I don't know that he ever got
the national shine to the way you should. But you
guys have talked a lot about you know, when I
was driving in I heard it talking about expecting different

(01:36:08):
results whatever. As a white Sox fan who now got
his one hundred losses, and Mark's wearing a white Sox
hat our technical producer as well. It was good to
see the Cubs eliminated as well, but something we can
count on. And look, man, I root for all things
Chicago except the Cubs. I'm a Southsider and that will

(01:36:29):
never change. It was very painful to be working nights
here at Fox Sports Radio. Look, I don't put the
journalism tat I think as soon as you get into
sports talk radio and sports television, that whole journalism thing
kind of floats away a little bit. In terms of
all of this, you become a carnival Barker. Don't kids yourself.
But there are certain things that stay with you. The

(01:36:49):
World Series when Joe Madden seemingly was making everything wrong
by the books and it worked out, and then winning
the World Series on my watch, that was some of
the greatest act I've ever done. And I probably should
have gone and tried to get my SAG card at
that point with video imaging from our Fox Sports radio studios.

Speaker 1 (01:37:10):
I feel weird, though, I feel weird at this point.
I spent years working with Sarah Spain, who is the
biggest Cubs fan in the world. So now I'm sitting
there and I'm like, I don't even know what to say.
I'm I'm conditioned, like when you get out of a relationship,
you know, like there's certain things you don't talk about.
When you work with somebody for years it's a diehard
Cubs fan. Now you work with somebody that's a diehard
White Sox fans. I don't know what to do. I'm

(01:37:31):
just gonna sit here in the corner while mommy and
daddy fight and you guys, he not like I have
no idea what to do.

Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
I'm with you you know you claimed their flame now
with the Chicago Cubs as your manager was on Dancing
with the Stars. I guess that's it. That's it, and
you and you blew the opportunity because you know, wh
whenever we do those percentage chances of getting in. I
want to say it was three weeks ago they were
minus a thousand to make the playoffs. Oh, stuff happens. Hey,
football fans, be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radio

(01:37:57):
every Sunday morning, beginning at ten am Eastern seven o'clock
Pacific for Countdown to Kickoff presented by bet MGM, Brian No,
Jeff Schwartz, Professional better Bill Krackenberger will have you covered
three hours before kickoff. Every Sunday morning, listen to Countdown
to Kickoff presented by bet MGM right here on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app. And since we will
have a game kicking off in London at six point thirty,

(01:38:19):
we'll also get them with some live betting options. I'm
sure for you, I have a question for you.

Speaker 1 (01:38:25):
Hit me.

Speaker 3 (01:38:25):
When you read that promo, it's at a professional gambler. Now,
what does it mean he does nothing else bets a job?
Because okay, so he's really good at it. If I
bet as many games as he does during the week,
but I still work at Fox, not make me a
professional gambler.

Speaker 2 (01:38:40):
Well it does, but I mean, what are you tagging yourself?

Speaker 1 (01:38:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:38:44):
Right, what's the primary source of income versus you know,
you're doing it a little bit recreationally.

Speaker 3 (01:38:50):
And if he wills out his taxes the end of
the year, he writes down, I'm a professional gambler.

Speaker 1 (01:38:54):
Yes, yeah, yeah, See, that's that's where it all comes
down to money. Life always comes down to money, right
When you go see your tax guy and you fill
out all your paperwork and they're like, what do you
do for a living? When you have to submit the forms,
and then you're like suddenly giving all the casino win
loss reports and everything that you're in that professional game,
It's like, hey, this was my main source of income,
then you can claim it. I think. I think it's

(01:39:15):
a tax thing.

Speaker 2 (01:39:15):
Well, I think the other thing is that our business.
Everybody now professes to be some kind of wizard in
terms of gambling. How many of them actually bet their
own money? Probably few How many people actually win like
they claim they do? Even fewer?

Speaker 1 (01:39:29):
How do you like that?

Speaker 2 (01:39:30):
There I am today.

Speaker 1 (01:39:32):
I'll loudly say I got my butt whooped yesterday by
the way, like I went. You know, I do a
lot with college football, so I got cocky in the
last two weeks and I've been like, I know this sport,
I know the sport in and out. I'm feeling pretty
good about things, and I just got I mean, I
got demolished two weeks ago on Notre Dame Ohio State.
Then I got demolished yesterday on several games where you know,
injuries and things went out. They Yeah, No, I'm just

(01:39:54):
gonna let the world o LSU.

Speaker 2 (01:39:56):
Did you get the helper from James Franklin and the
fake kneel down against Northwestern? Because he took care of
his backers. He's also lucky his quarterback didn't get tagged
after that. You know, he took care of his people.
All right, let's get one game in before we go
to Kevin Wyret because we talk about some things never
really changing. Something's got to give in this one. Raiders

(01:40:18):
and Chargers. All right, for the Raiders, Chargers in the
line moved all of half a point or a point
depending on where you're shopping. At least when I looked
very early this morning, total sitting at forty eight AID
and O'Connell, the youngster out of Purdue. And this is
where my big ten honk stuff comes in here. I
clamored for him to be the guy to be the backup,

(01:40:39):
to be ready if Garoppolo were too. Well, let's face it,
history repeats itself again to Jimmy Garoppolo's not available. Hopefully
the concussion clears and he's back on the field soon.
But this was you know, as we talk about inevitabilities.
You've got the Chargers that'll do everything they can to
give away games, even though it's twenty twenty three and
we've an'st the calendar, same old Chargers. Jason Fitch, you're

(01:41:04):
the Raiders fan. I will go to you first. What
gives him this one? Will Josh Jacobs average more than
two point four yards per carry, which is what he's
averaging through three weeks.

Speaker 1 (01:41:12):
No, he will. And look, I'm the guy wearing a
Raider's shirt and Raiders hoodie, Raiders' shorts with the Raiders
tattoo right now. So look I'm already have this tattoo. Yeah, well,
I have the outline of the shield with the American
flag in it from when I got to play the
national anthem on the fiddle for the Raiders when they
were in Oakland, So it's like it was a landmark
moment in my life. But look, I say all of
that to say, I'm wildly excited to see Aidan O'Connell.

(01:41:34):
I covered him extensively covering college football, and I thought
he was great at Purdue. I thought he was undervalued
coming out of the draft, and I think he can
actually turn in to a pretty good pro So I
think there's a real opportunity for excitement and hope. Young
quarterbacks give you hope. The Raiders, though offensively, this is
a very simple issue. The offensive line has been dreadful.
I don't care what the pro football focused numbers will
tell you. They've had to get rid of the ball

(01:41:57):
so quickly to try and protect their quarterback, and they
haven't been able to run. And as a result, teams
basically knowing the Jimmy g can't press the defense have
been playing right up on the line and Jacobs is
getting hit before he even gets to the line of scrimmage.
So when you talk about what they're facing here, the
offensive line is the issue. The good news is no Bosa.
No Bosa helps. Yes, yeah, no Austin Eckler. In this game,

(01:42:19):
the Chargers are a shell of themselves. What I don't
know right now is will Aidan O'Connell be able to
process through everything, get through Josh McDaniel's complicated offense, and
push the ball down the field. If he does that early,
it will open up running lanes and the Raiders could
look wildly different. I could tell you on behalf of
Raider Nation. I think that there is about ninety eight
percent of Raiders fans in the world that are hoping

(01:42:40):
that this is the Wally Pitt moment and Aidan O'Connell
turns out to be the next Brock Party. But that's
the problem. Everybody thinks they got the next Rock Party,
so you know, reasonable expectations. I just hope he plays well,
and I can watch a young quarterback play well.

Speaker 2 (01:42:51):
If nothing else. The Raiders show up to a home
game at so far later, more things change, more they
say the same. You talked about the injuries. No Austin Eckler,
no Derwin James. Right, we've seen this stack before. Mike
Williams lost for the year and thoughts out to Corey Linsley.
Hard issue takes him off the field. Look, they changed
out their trainer. They're still having all sorts of issues.

(01:43:12):
Lindsley's is an outlier, but training room and the number
of injuries for the Chargers huge. Andy, what's say you
hear to rain on your parade? Okay?

Speaker 3 (01:43:23):
And I didn't want to see aid and O'Connell quarterback today.
I wanted to see them roll out Brian Hoyer, Okay,
because it would have been sort of an anniversary because
on the second of October in twenty sixteen, that was
his last NFL start, all right. I wanted to see
Brian Hoyer come out, see what he looked like. Okay,
bring him out there today and he may very well
play today again. But you know what, the Chargers just
have too much on the offensive side of the ball.

(01:43:44):
Their offense has been hot. And you know what, I
don't think Justin Herbert is getting a lot of credit.
I mean he's his clear completion percentage almost seventy five percent,
like ninety for one twenty one thus four this year
with a six touchdowns and no I nts. I just
think that the quarterbacking right now is gonna be the difference,
and honestly, I think that the Charges.

Speaker 2 (01:44:01):
Win, and they win maybe if I double digits. Yeah,
Herbert I think gets a little bit of a free
pass because in the final possessions of games when he's
got a chance to seal a win. They've had some
offensive issues the last couple of years. I mean, we're
only three games week, that's great, and then they had
the opportunity to kill the game and they didn't.

Speaker 1 (01:44:20):
I'll also throw in here, though, one thing that I
think is important with what Ferman is saying. The Raiders,
if you go back and watch their defense this year,
are playing this really far back. We'll give up huge
completion percentages. We're just going to try to limit big
plays and touchdowns. It worked against the Broncos, but if
you look every single week, they're giving up a completion
percentage that is jarring, right, So I think you are right,

(01:44:41):
like justin, Herbert's just gonna dink and dunk is way
down the field eight to twelve yards at a time,
and they'll be able to put up a lot of
yards in this game. I don't doubt that'll all, which is.

Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
Good for your fantasy squad PPR leagues have some fun.
Keenan Allen stats for days. Steve Disager, our colleague here
at Fox Sports Radio. He does the home games. He
walks around with a notebook that says Keenan and it's
nine thousand pages thick. He's Jason Fitz that's Andy Ferman out,
Mike Carmen. We'll continue looking at the games a week four.
In just a moment, first we step out for some

(01:45:10):
injury updates and news from our guy, Kevin Wyer. What's up, Kevin. Yeah,
Today's the final day of the Ryder Cup. It's in
action right now. The Europeans began the day with a
ten and a half to five and a half lead
over the Americans. The group furthest along John Rom, Scotti Scheffler,
and it's Rom one up on Scheffler through thirteen holes,
Victor Hovlin four up on Colin Morikawa. They are through twelve.

(01:45:31):
Patrick Cantley two up on Justin Rose through ten. Roy
McElroy three up on Sam Burns. They're also through ten holes.
We do have some injury updates in the NFL for
you today. Equanimia Saint Brown will be active today for
the Bears because Chase Claypool will not be playing, so

(01:45:51):
change that receiver there for the Bears. Claypool inactive for Chicago.
Jimmy Garoppolo. It still has a concussion, so he will
not be playing for the Raiders today against the Chargers.
So we thought, okay, Brian Hoyer, we get the start,
he's their main backup, But no. Ian Rappaport's saying that
rookie Aiden O'Connell will be getting the start today for

(01:46:12):
Las Vegas against the La Chargers. Another update from Ian Rapaport,
Miles Sanders of the Panthers. He's questionable with a growin injury. However,
he is expected to play today. Hollywood Brown expected to
play today as well. He's been dealing with a thumb injury.
Deebo Samuel also expected to be in the game against Arizona.
He missed last week against the Giants with a ribbon

(01:46:34):
knee injury, but he is able to go where He's
expected at least to play this week. However, Elijah Mitchell
not expected to play. Derek Carr, who many thought would
be out for at least two or three weeks with
a sprained ac joint, he is expected to play today
to the surprise of many. That's barring a pregame setback.
According to Adam Schefter, Tyler Higbee, listened as questionable for

(01:46:58):
today due to an Achilles' injury, is expecting to play
against the Indianapolis Coltspect you guys, Thanks so much, Kevin

the cash back you've earned. That's right, everything you've earned doubled.

(01:47:20):
Seriously see your term. Check it out for yourself at
discover dot com. Slash match. A couple of games left
to get through here in week four and then we'll
get to our chicken and beer picks. Next segment, Go
Mantriot said, Cowboys. All right, now, the Cowboys, what are
they fellas? They beat up on a Giants team that
is well really played two quarters of football to this

(01:47:42):
point in the season, and the Jets, and I'll just
leave that hanging there. I yell about it enough with
my guy Jason Smith. During the course of the week,
Dallas six point favorites at home forty three and a half.
The total, Stevenson barely falling forward at two point nine
yards per carry, Zeke in a bit of a homecome
averaging four and a half, and the tight ends getting

(01:48:02):
some work for Mac Jones, all sorts of speculation about
him as old of the team. Bill Belichick under fire
all the time. He commented on Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift.
So that was nice, but an opportunity here. Dallas last
week got punched in the mouth repeatedly by James Connor.
New England usually brings the defense to bear. How good

(01:48:25):
are the Cowboys here?

Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
Andy Furman, Well, I'll tell you what defensive coin and
at dan Quinn's got to kid up a mess on
the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas hasn't solved their issue. They'd giving
him over twour just sixty rushing yards a game, and
I don't think that's gonna happen, you know, gonna stop today.
I think that there's a possibility now that we're not
going to think that Dallas is as good as we
thought they were.

Speaker 2 (01:48:46):
Okay, they need the bounce back.

Speaker 3 (01:48:48):
This is a big game for them, really, because after
beating both New York teams and falling on their face
big time, twenty eight to sixteen in Arizona. This week,
I think everybody started to saying, well, wait, wait a minute,
maybe this is the super Bowl team we thought it
would be. So we'll see what's gonna happen right now.
I think Dallas needs to bounce back if they want
to have these aspirations for the season to go deep

(01:49:09):
in the playoffs. And the offensive line should be in
better shape. It better be in better shape today.

Speaker 2 (01:49:14):
We'll see what they do. I like the Patriots. I
like the Patriots in this game.

Speaker 1 (01:49:17):
I really do.

Speaker 2 (01:49:18):
And I'll tell you what.

Speaker 3 (01:49:18):
I'll take the seven points if that's the spread.

Speaker 1 (01:49:21):
Oh. I do not like the Patriots in this game.
I do not like the Patriots at all. I do
not believe in mac Jones at all. I believe the
Patriots are at best a mediocre football team at best.
And realistically, the Cowboys went out last week and they
got their bus kicked. There's no doubt about it. The
way they lost is concerning. Frankly, that they were dominated
on the line of scrimmage is something that I can't unsee.

(01:49:42):
I won't take anything away from that, like the Cardinals
doing that to you. But there are gonna be games
in the course of an NFL season where you come
out flat. I'm a little concerned with the fact that
they were run on so hard by a bad football team. Yes,
but at the end of the day, if you look
at the talent, which by the way, was accumulated by Belichick,
and you put it all and you just match talent
to talent, there's a distinct edge to the Cowboys. If

(01:50:04):
you match quarterback to quarterback, it's a joke of a conversation, right,
if you match all of these things across. I do
not believe that Bill Belichick can be the great equalizer
to make up the lack of talent for New England. Comparatively,
I think the Cowboys roll in this one. I think
they're gonna come out and make a statement, and we're
going to be thinking about them a lot more like
we did two weeks ago, where oh, this team could
be the best in the NFC. That'll be the conversation

(01:50:26):
after they crushed New England.

Speaker 2 (01:50:28):
Crushing. I like the process of the proclamation. Look, I
look at it. Bill Belichick's two guys. He's a terrible
talent evaluator, but he's a hell of a coach. Once
he gets him in the building. Problem is they need
to give up the former to help build the ladder.
Does that make sense a lot of defense.

Speaker 3 (01:50:46):
I worry about New England's offense to have a scored
one to twenty points.

Speaker 2 (01:50:49):
Well, you got no explosiveness. You don't have a single
player out there. You're hoping for yak with Mike Gesicki
or Hunter Henry Maan, Kendrick Bourne flashes once in a while,
but the now like deep downfield Bill O'Brien, I mean,
that's not part of the playbook.

Speaker 1 (01:51:05):
I mean it's just not we really need as a society.
Can we find something other than yack? I just know,
I know the terminology yards after the catch, I get it,
but like it just makes me think about like I
had too much fireball last night. Now I just want
to yack. I watched The Raiders lost lose by forty seven,
and I just want to yack, like I'm a big
yack guy. Apparently, I just I don't know. We gotta
find some of the I'm petitioning the world to find

(01:51:26):
something other than yak.

Speaker 2 (01:51:27):
Yeah, we'll have to talk about if fireballs a go to,
we need to have an intervention for you I mean
your first stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:51:34):
Go Yaeger. Oh yeah, Jaeger, Fireball. Drink that stuff if
I want to.

Speaker 2 (01:51:38):
Get some gold Schlogger in while you're at it.

Speaker 1 (01:51:40):
Make me feel like I'm in high school again.

Speaker 2 (01:51:41):
I got to say, Jason Fitz, Andy Furman, and me
a Mike Garment. Welcome.

Speaker 1 (01:51:50):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:51:50):
It's Fox Football Sunday, Fox Sports Radio. We got three
more games to get to and if you look at
the time on the wall, that's about all they deserve.
We'll get to that next around foxmoreo. Dogs are barking
early on a Sunday. Remember, get those fantasy lineups and
those early pickam nods in so you don't give away
a game. We've got Jacksonville and Atlanta.

Speaker 1 (01:52:12):
Yay.

Speaker 2 (01:52:12):
Atlanta now rumored potentially to be a suitor for Justin
Fields if things really come off the rails in Chicago.
Oh wait, there, I already are. But we'll get into
that a little more next hour. You guys have already
traversed that. I'll bring my baseball bat and go to
work to finish the job. Coming up a little bit later.
We're brought to you by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes buddling

(01:52:56):
also known as Twitter if you get email notifications from them,
because nobody understands that the company actually changed their name,
like a bunch of dopes. Anyway, we got three more
games to get to and we're going to do them
in Commanders at Eagles. All right, this one, Commanders, they
are getting eight and a half forty three of the total.
Philadelphia playing bully ball with DeAndre Swift. Yeah, think about

(01:53:17):
that passing game hasn't even started to click yet, fellas
yet they're three to zeroe rolling. That's a very should
make the other teams in the NFC quite a bit nervous.
Can be Enemy get them up for this one? Can
they protect Sam Howell from Jalen Carter and that bull
rush of the Eagles. Jason to you first, no.

Speaker 1 (01:53:36):
No, no, and no. And you know it's interesting because
it's quick, how quickly we've gone from the oh, wait,
the Commanders, could you know, be plucky here they could
be a surprise team, And then you see him against
a really good team and you realize what a problem
it is. I think their offensive line was exposed last
week obviously, now they're taking on one of the best
defensive lines in football. All I ask in this process
of the Eagles and the enormous praise we continue to

(01:53:59):
give Jalen Carter, is can we at least remember there
was context to why he fell in the draft. I'm
not saying that that needs to be remembered as part
of his legacy. I'm just saying I see fans every
week now say, well, why did our team not take
Jalen Carter. Okay, you want to rehash the reasons, because
there's real conversation that had to go into that for
every single organization to make their own individual decisions. That
being said, the young man has come into the NFL

(01:54:21):
and has played exactly the way most people that watched
him thought he would like. It was never a question
of if if he was talented enough and it makes
a disruptive Philly line even more disruptive. I think that
this is going to be a real come to earth
meeting moment for the Commanders, and they're going to have
to pick themselves up after these two losses in a
row that will be blowouts now and figure out how
to rebound for the rest of their season. I think

(01:54:41):
Philly's going to take it to him today.

Speaker 3 (01:54:44):
Oh we've seen the real command as everybody is saying, Oh,
they were two to zero. Oh, but they beat ariz
Ola in Denver. But last week they got shellacked thirty
seven to three with Buffalo. Their quarterback Sam Howell intercepted
four times. But remember remember last year. I look at
history a little bit sometimes it helps the Washington's gonna
try to get that game plan that had from Week

(01:55:04):
ten a year ago. They broke the Eagles eight game
winning streak to start the season last year. In that game,
what did the Commanders do? They forced four turnovers at
the offensive control of the game, how a strong running attack,
and they won and they held the ball for like
forty plus minutes and they had twelve third down conversions.

Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
Can they do it again today?

Speaker 3 (01:55:24):
No, it won't happen. Eagles win, but they're gonna win
by double digits. And we see the real Washington team
right now because today they lose at Philadelphia, but again
on the fifth of October, which is Thursday night, another
bad game. On a Thursday night, they will beat Chicago.

Speaker 2 (01:55:41):
How dare you you're looking ahead? I can't even get
past this loss, and you're already giving me another one.
And al Michaels died a little bit inside as you
said that out loud. Look what you did to the
poor man. I know, we'll see what kind of product
placement we get. I forget what they sold two weeks ago,
they were selling tortilla chips. I missed what they were
doing on the Prime video this week around Yeah, bludgeoning

(01:56:04):
right now, Sam Howell a pinnata if he holds the ball.
Gibson and Robinson are your only hope? Like Obi wan Kenobi,
that's right, leaving no pop culture reference on Stone on
who's the princess Leah?

Speaker 1 (01:56:15):
Then, like that's the real question. Who is Princess le
We always go to the help me, Obi wan Kenobe,
You're my only hope? Who's Leya Leya? In this situation?

Speaker 2 (01:56:22):
I mean really it comes down to Bienemy becomes the
head coach and Ron Rivera get sent away. Oh wow,
he gets blasted into space. Wow wait, which should have
happened before the season. But I don't need to get
on that soapbox right now.

Speaker 1 (01:56:34):
But my god, you like, I'm having this moment right
and have a sound effects on radio. It's great. I'm
having this this moment mind blown because we everybody constantly saying, well,
when's the enemy gonna get a chance? Wins by enemy,
gonna get a chance if things go off the rails,
gonna get a chance like this, this is the chance
you want.

Speaker 2 (01:56:52):
So yeah, here it is. I mean, I mean they
do have some talent on the outside right like that.
If you look at the individuals. Dotson when healthy, solid, mccollin, McLaurin,
I'm sorry, has been banged up a bit, Logan Thomas
took that shot to the head a couple of weeks ago.
But the tight end position being what it is, Jason,

(01:57:12):
I've heard you reference fantasy, right man, He's a guy
that you know, as far as tight ends go, he
gets into that next five given where the position is
in this world when he's healthy. That shows you where
the tight end position is. Folks, it's Travis Kelcey, the
Swifties and everybody else jamming that reference in wherever I

(01:57:33):
can't people. All right, how about another laugher? Cardinals at
forty nine ers. Hey, Elijah Mitchell, my guy not gonna go.
You're probably gonna see some debo Samuel, but he's banged up,
and let's face it, if this game goes according to
script Fellas, he's gonna be on the sideline just shaking
hands and clapping at San Francisco fourteen point favorites forty

(01:57:53):
three and a half. The brock Purty experiment continues. Last
week we saw James Connor do his thing, say five
point two yards per carry. Josh Dobbs was at the
team store complaining that he couldn't buy his own jersey.
They remedied that pretty fast. So now everybody, if they
want to jump on board that bandwagon while they wait
for Kyler Murray can Hollywood Brown banged up, but he's
their best wide receiver. He and zach Ertz fourteen receptions

(01:58:17):
each lead the charge. But I think Arizona punching Dallas
in the mouth last week the best thing that could
have happened for the forty nine ers. There's no taking
them lightly. Andy Furman will start with you.

Speaker 3 (01:58:28):
James Connor has had some success against the forty nine is.
I don't think he's that much success today. I mean,
this is a upsided game. This is gonna be a
big win for the forty nine ers, as it should be.
There's been a talent that's the name of the game.

Speaker 1 (01:58:39):
Yeah, I don't disagree with that at all. I mean,
the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, but all
is well, all right, because at the end of the day,
Arizona's getting the best of both worlds. Can they stay
within fourteen Jason, No, but they're gonna get the best
of both worlds. They continue to be a better than
thought football team and they're going to be able to
still get Kayleb Williams.

Speaker 2 (01:58:58):
That's good. Best to know Smiths, Eve Bears and Cardinals.
By the way, best of the both worlds was Miley
Cyrus last. Seahawks and Giants. There you go. Seahawks one
and a half point favorite, forty seven year total No
Andndrew Thomas, No. Saquon Barkley. They have played two good
quarters of football against the aforementioned Cardinals Seattle. I would

(01:59:18):
expect Kenneth Walker could approach two hundred yards today. Jason
you first, Yeah, Kenneth Walker. By the way, you should
serve Ken.

Speaker 1 (01:59:26):
Yeah, Kenneth Walker should get a check from mel Tucker
for what he did. You know, mel Tucker got paid
because Kenneth Walker saved Michigan State's offense. And by the way,
he's doing the same thing with Seattle. I can't say
enough positive things about Kenneth Walker. I think they were
rolling this game.

Speaker 3 (01:59:41):
I tell you what, the games to be played in
the trenches, and I think that's where Seattle's gonna win,
and win big. I think they're gonna win this ball game.
And the Giants have just devastated that they have nobody.
I mean, Barkley's out and he was sixty percent of
their offense. So I look for the Seattle ball club
to come in to the Giants stadium and embarrass them.

Speaker 2 (01:59:58):
That's what they're gonna do. There you go, he's Andy Furman,
that's Jason Fitz. I'm Mike Krmen. Jason and I continue
Andy a fun, fast, our spirited as it were going,
joy toy story. We'll see you next week, Jason, I
continue on Fox Greetings and welcome in another beautiful hour
Fox Football Sunday. Thanks to our guys Shay Mark and
now we've got Isaac in. We had Kevin wired in

(02:00:20):
a little bit earlier, making it sound oh so pretty
to meet Mike Karmen alongside Jason Fitz. Welcome in to
our wonderful world here on Fox Football Sunday, Old Pros,
Old style, and we find ourselves into a fun and
exciting Week four of the National Football League. Kickoff of
one game just a half hour away. Again, set those

(02:00:41):
fantasy lineups, make those pick them picks, and if you're
in the gambling mood early on a Sunday morning, hey,
get that cup of coffee up and see what kind
of lines you can find. As Trevor Lawrence has shown
on my screen warming up, Jason, this is a thriller.
I think it'll be more fun with the toy story overlay.
I'm not gonna lie to you.

Speaker 1 (02:01:00):
Yeah, Look, I'm I'm torn on this game because these
are two teams that, by the end of the year,
their individual fan bases think are gonna be good. And
it's not a game I'm really excited for at all
like Jacksonville has been out of sync, to say it
nicely so far early in the season. Now we all
think that's going to normalize because at the end of
the day, we trust quarterbacks, right, so because people trust

(02:01:20):
Trevor Lawrence, the thought is, hey, Jacksonville, when Jacksonville'll be
just fine in the meantime, Atlanta's over here and Desma
Ritter people don't trust. So it's like, well, I'm not
sure I believe in Like, we put so much stock
in that one position that we're convinced Jacksonville's gonna be
okay and we're not convinced of anything for Atlanta. But
the weird part about it is either or both of
these teams could still like they could be playoff teams

(02:01:42):
by the end of the year. And I'm still not
wildly like pumped for this matchup.

Speaker 2 (02:01:46):
Well, I'll just work the way they've played to this point, right.
It's the where am I in this point in time?
Because look, I had big expectations because I don't take
the Laurel Crown, I don't take captain obvious stuff. We
fill out this little sheet here that we have. Our
guy Dan Bayer puts it up where you put your
conference title, you know, winners and super Bowl pick and

(02:02:07):
you know something crazy that'll happen. And I'm looking at it, going,
all right, what's the path of least resistance in theory
to get towards a playoff berth And for me, Jacksonville
on paper look like in the South that the opportunity
was going to be there, and through three weeks, I'm
kind of wringing my hands, going, what the hell? Of
course I also have that on the other side, because
again not taking the captain obvious all right, just right

(02:02:29):
down the forty nine Ers and Chiefs and move on.
I got a little cute and I like, all right,
I think Brian Dable continues. Hey, I don't think he's
coached hi minute of football through three games this week.
So for me, it's a world of hurt through three weeks.

Speaker 1 (02:02:43):
But you know, now we have this.

Speaker 2 (02:02:45):
Wonderful game, and you know folks will put him in
their fantasy lineups. We've got Jacksonville a narrow three point
favorite against Atlanta. Atlanta now being linked in theory to
Justin Fields if he were to become available as suspect
he might as the Chicago season uh falls off, the rails.
Do we have the Chase Claypool fun and exciting? We

(02:03:07):
couldn't find it. But it was a quiet week, right,
everybody was just talking about the aftermath of the Taylor
Swift appearance in Chicago. Jason listening to local radio. Uh,
they did everything they could to turn the page. They
still had some faint hopes that the Cubs were gonna
make the playoffs. Well that's gone. The White Sox where
non entity, and the Blackhawks and the young guy Bidard

(02:03:28):
they're not starting just yet. Uh, so you know you're
looking for hope. Northwestern, despite the worst offensive performance in
a first half ever, we're tied with the State and
then they got yeah, and then they eventually did cover
the number did Penn State alluded to it last hour
the fake kneel down, which again, all right, long memories

(02:03:51):
for folks along the way. Uh, in situations like that,
but until the unless you throw a white towel, you
keep playing until the final whistle. Is at least where
ice stand.

Speaker 1 (02:04:00):
On all of that.

Speaker 2 (02:04:01):
But as we get a week four started, where next
week we get the first of our bye weeks that
start in four, teams will be there. The scourge of
every NFL fan look early bye, the week five bye
that is the worst.

Speaker 1 (02:04:15):
I'm gonna I'm gonna fix the NFL right now, Like
let's go. Nobody's asking me, but I'm gonna fix the
NFL because we all hate bye week. There's nothing worse
than bye week, right Like bye week is the ultimate
third wheel experience where you're out on a date and
all of your friends are in love and you're just
sitting there and like there's not even a single person
in the room for you to hang out with. The
bye week is the worst thing in all of sports.
I am out on bye week, and all the NFL

(02:04:37):
has to do, and this is very simple, is get
halfway through the season, and at the halfway point of
the season, you take one week off, and during that
one week off, you do with it we did as kids.
You watch the pre taped from the offseason Hawaii thing
where like it's the Quarterback Challenge and like we're gonna
have fat guys play Tiktac toe. I don't care what
it is. I pre taped something. You put it up
in the middle of the season. Everybody gets Week nine

(02:04:58):
off and then week ten come back, and then all
of a sudden, your friend that's obnoxiously going to plan
their their fall wedding can plan for that one week
like everybody in life can turn around and be like, hey,
this is the week there's no normal NFL and we
can all have a glorious time. College football could could
absolutely make that a huge weekend for college football. Everybody
be happy and we all get a buy week at
the same time, which is actually the fairest way to

(02:05:20):
handle it, and it gives all of us a break
in the middle of the season to recalibrate. I've fixed
it all. Call me Roger. I got this.

Speaker 2 (02:05:26):
I kind of dig that along the way. And you
know what, when I was a younger man, now that
I a pirate looks at a certain age, all that
kind of stuff tribute to the late grade. Jimmy Buffett,
the idea of fall weddings or you know, team affiliations.
I used to be very much a you know, when
it came to colleges, if you didn't pay to go there,

(02:05:49):
shut up right. That was you cannot just adopt a
college just because you feel like it because they were
on TV, or in my case growing up in Chicago,
because maybe you went to Mass on Easter or Christmas
that suddenly you were a Notre Dame fan. That doesn't
work for me. It just doesn't. As I've gotten older, Like, yeah,

(02:06:12):
like what you're gonna like and fall wedding guy, you're
saving money? Oh well, you know what I mean, Like
in terms of halls and all that other stuff. Yeah,
your friends will hate you momentarily until there are you know,
five Gin and Tonics in at the reception.

Speaker 1 (02:06:26):
Well, and I've also had a little bit of a
different perspective on some of that over the course of
the years because certainly the background I came from, Like
everybody thinks that country music is all about football. I
was like most of the tours I was on, I
was the only person that cared about care and so
like the number of times, like I still have to
explain to people the difference between what a podcast is

(02:06:47):
and a talk show is like that I toured with
for years, they don't care at all. So like, there
are so many people out there that are scheduling a
wedding during the fall because it's a favorite time of
year and it's beautiful and they wanted their honeymoon. That
like the total respect for that, I'm with you, I
think sometimes, as you mentioned earlier, like we have to
remember with Taylor Swift that the bubble of sports isn't
everybody's bubble. I think that there is just a with

(02:07:08):
the bye week you could give you give you the
opportunity even like all right, go to your family somewhere
for the weekend, go do something fun. But I will
say I have to push back a little on one
thing that you just said, because when I moved to Nashville,
it was, you know, like I said, ninety six, I think,
and I'd lived all over the country but never lived
in a passionate college football market, and so it was

(02:07:28):
the middle of the Peyton Manning era. I went to
a bar to check out and see.

Speaker 2 (02:07:32):
What I watched him my Northwestern Wildcats at the oh.

Speaker 6 (02:07:37):
So.

Speaker 1 (02:07:37):
I walked in wearing a red T shirt to a bar,
not thinking anything of it, and it turned out it
was Tennessee, Alabama. I got one step in the door
and I had a beer thrown in my face and
the whole bar started chanting words I can't say on radio.
And that was my first okay, because I literally walked
into the bars like this place has happened. Let's see
why everybody loves college football one step in beer in
the face. But it's it's funny because Nashville is a

(02:08:00):
solid three and a half hours from Knoxville, right, so
they're not even close together. Most of the people there
didn't go to Tennessee, but because Vandy was always terrible,
and for generations, the entire state was defined by the
University of Tennessee. Grandpa's a fan, Dad's a fan, everybody's
a fan. It's just part of culture. To this day.
If you're on radio in Nashville, you should talk about

(02:08:20):
the Valls more than you talk about the Titans of
the Predators all day, every day, even though it's even
though the Valls haven't really been relevant, and even though
it's three hours from campus.

Speaker 2 (02:08:28):
So again, I got forgiveness for that, you know, no,
and as I've gotten older, I've gotten forgiveness of it.
Maybe it was the sticker shock of my Northwestern education
because when they suddenly got good, all of a sudden,
there's these bandwagoners in the city of chat weren't you
a Notre Dame fan last week? You know that kind
of thought, So you know, that's the look I paid

(02:08:48):
for my misery just like last week and this. You know,
I got to bring it up because maybe we've got
a YouTube executive that I can curse at on air,
you know, listening right now. Last week I paid paid
the extra money for the package, right because I want
to see all the games. I want my three box,
my four box, whatever off the YouTube TV Sunday ticket

(02:09:08):
Jason the Bears game. At halftime, they went away from it.
Now I know local markets did. I couldn't get it,
even though I paid over my filthy lucre to them
and gave them my giant check. I couldn't watch the
second half of that. Look, if I want to be
miserable and watch that, that is my right. I paid
for the right to be miserable, to count along with

(02:09:30):
everybody else. How many times they looked up in the
Kelsey box to see what Taylor Swift was eating or
what she was saying or whatever else. I paid for that,
and they took it away from me and gave me
another window of Arizona Dallas.

Speaker 1 (02:09:45):
I am shooketh to my core because let me tell
you something, it doesn't matter what's going on in the world,
and it doesn't matter how bad my favorite team is
for years, Like when the Raiders kick off, I sit
there and I watch it through every single minute of
the entire chaos that it is, even through JaMarcus Russell
and all of those Like for most of my life,

(02:10:06):
the Raiders have been bad, and my Sunday tradition is
to sit there and watch the game. And what I
remind myself of in the fourth quarter when the Raiders
getting crushed, remind myself that watching the Raiders lose stinks.
But Soda sitting there in the middle of June saying
what's on TV? Like there's nothing there. I was just
miss football, Like I try and remind myself of how
much I miss it while I watch it. I watch
every single minute of it. Like today, if the Raiders

(02:10:28):
get beat by fifty with Aiden O'Connell playing in the quarterback,
I'm still gonna watch the game. If they took it off,
I feel you to my court, like there is no
way that you could take that off and have me
be okay. I would be losing my mind.

Speaker 2 (02:10:39):
Yeah, I was incense. Now let me ask you a question.
You mentioned, you know when you were on tour and
trying to find Kindred spirits, And I know some bands.
They'll now plan tours because some of the guys are
like big baseball fans because they want to go hit
ball parks or make you a game. I got to
ask you from an emotional standpoint, when you're on stage
and you're playing fiddle, are you playing more aggressively when

(02:11:02):
the Raiders are in season and you see the results
or is it something where you get along soulful bluesy
I'm sad kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (02:11:10):
No, there's an aggressiveness to it. And one of my
favorite things whenever I talk to musicians in interviews in
general and ask him, like, how do you keep up
with the game when you're on the road, Like I'm
lucky most of the time. You know, the Raiders don't
play in primetime and most of your shows are at night,
so like, you know, hey, you don't have to worry
about that. But even like my buddy Chris Young, who's
had an incredible country music career, Chris, I asked him once,

(02:11:31):
you know how he keeps track of because he's a
big Cowboys fan, big University of Texas fan, and he said, like,
you know, there we wear these little ear in your
like earphones that people can't see necessarily and somebody can
talk to you in those and he said, you know,
his side stage guy gives him score updates. And he
told a story about once being on stage and in
the middle of a song just dropped the biggest f

(02:11:53):
bomb in the middle of the song. That made no
sense because he just found out the score. And you know,
rest in peace to the great Charlie Daniels. But I
ask Tim, he's a big balls fan, asked Charlie the
same question. He said, they used to give him the scores,
but then he would stay. He like he'd start playing
so poorly because he just gets so worked up over
the game. Yet, like Caine, Brown keeps a little He
keeps a little phone or an iPad on the stage

(02:12:15):
when George is playing, so if he turns around to
look at his drummer, he's actually looking at a TV
to check to the Georgia scores. Like we've all got tricks.
It just makes for a really bad show when your
team's bat all the.

Speaker 2 (02:12:24):
Time, that's just stand and instead of the next words
in the prompter, it's now a score and you look down.
He looked horrified. What was going on with the people
in the front row. It had nothing to do with
what was going on in the front row. But now
you're misdirecting. Hey that guy said something to get him
out of here. Oh my god, he comes about that
instead of your favorite team losing.

Speaker 1 (02:12:44):
See the misdirection the worst part for me, and I'll
never like I knew I was a pain in the button.
I apologized to everybody I ever toured with. You know,
when you're on tour in the fall, which is most
of the time nowadays, you really have to be careful
with where you park your tour bus because every tour
bus has two satellite dishes, and satellite dishes on it
and that's how you always got a Sunday ticket for years,

(02:13:06):
was their DirecTV right. But they have to park the
bus in a spot that actually gets the signals. So
you can't be blocked by the amphitheater or the stadium.
You can't be blocked. You gotta be somewhere. So the
number of times that I'd get up early on a
Sunday morning and just sit there with the driver while
I'd sit next to the TV, and I'd say stop, nope, yes, nope,
while we're moving the bus like three inch and everybody

(02:13:27):
else on the bus isn't even a football fan, and
they're like, what are we doing? And we're parking like
three blocks away from the venue because it's the only
place I can watch the game, And I'm like, look,
I'm not playing the show if I can't watch the radio.

Speaker 2 (02:13:38):
You want me to have my best performance tonight? Do
you want me to be dialed in?

Speaker 1 (02:13:43):
Oh? That was the worst? I was the worst?

Speaker 2 (02:13:45):
Oh story times for day. You find him on Twitter
at Jason Fitz. You hear him Saturday mornings alongside Anthony Gargano,
part of the Fellas here Fox Sports Radio in for
Bucky Brooks today and I'm sure the beginning of abut
to full relationship here at Fox Sports Radio. You and
I kindred spirits in this pop culture. Well, bowl of

(02:14:07):
soup would be the best. It is fall right, I
mean it's October first, That's what we'd call it at
this point. Yeah, Jason Fitz dot com to check out
some of his work, podcasts, and where else you can
find him. So all good things find me over at
Swollen Dome. We're broadcasting live from the tyrac dot com studios.
Tyrac dot com. We'll help you get there. An unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection, over ten thousand recommended

(02:14:30):
installers tyrac dot com. The way tire buying should be
all right. Before we get finished this block of this hour, Jason,
I want to ask you a question. My Bears sit
in the gold position on the metal stand of ineptitude.
It's Sunday morning. I can't you say what I want?
Who else joins him in the silver and bronze spaces

(02:14:50):
through three weeks in the NFL season.

Speaker 1 (02:14:52):
Oh, I mean, the Broncos are definitely on that list
for the ineptitude right, like especially because we're trying to
change the narrative right now, like where we're trying to
turn this into suddenly that oh well, the Broncos are
rebuilding now for all the people that were telling me,
you know, a month ago that they were going to
be a fringe playoff team because they got Sean Payton, Like,
let's hear from you now. I'm just the Broncos are

(02:15:13):
an abject disaster and should be treated as such. So
they're absolutely on the ineptitude list. And I'm actually I'm
gonna throw Carolina in on the ineptitude list like I
had at least expectations that Bryce Young and Frank Reich
would have a little bit of magic, and so far,
I don't think there's been any magic for Carolina. I
don't even know what they're trying to accomplish. They don't

(02:15:33):
have identity. They're not any good at least the Vikings
zero to three. I can look at it and say, Okay,
they've been They've been close in all of these games,
and even the Cardinals have been better than expected. Carolina
has been worse than expected. So I'll give Carolina the bronze.
I'll I'll give the Broncos a silver.

Speaker 2 (02:15:48):
Bad job thus far by Carolina trying to protect Bryce Young.
That guy ain't getting through a season. Yeah, and right now,
if you're you're asking me if you want to win
a couple of games, you're better off with Andy Dolton
on that.

Speaker 1 (02:16:00):
But you also can't let Andy Dalton throw the ball
like seven hundred and three. Well that's a whole other thing, right,
Miles Sanders can't run forward. He's on the injury list.
More Chewba Hubbard for the world, Just so I can say,
Chewba Hubbard. I always thought it like I look great name.
I just wish it had been just Chubba Hubbard. Chumba
Hubbard's more fun saying well, and.

Speaker 2 (02:16:20):
Then you could get a bubblegum endorsement if Nil existed
while he was in the college world. See you got that,
my mettal stand. I'm putting the giants there because they've
let me down personally. I'm looking at you, Dable. We're
kindred spirits in terms of our how we fill out
a poncho or mumu or whatever the hell you're wearing
on the sideline. So that and then and then the Broncos.

(02:16:41):
I didn't think it was gonna work. I didn't think
it would look this bad. I've said, Russell Wilson's been
done for three years trying to blame Hackett was just
a band aid. He wasn't good. But they're worse and
right now Sean Payton looks like he should have been.
He's already fighting with the media after turning them away
all pre season. You reap what you say, Oh is
the way that goes? He's Jason Fits on Mike Carmen,

(02:17:03):
Fox Sports Radios, Fox Football Sunday as we continue looking
at the slate for week for big matchup in the
AFC East Miami. Yeah, they bludge in Denver with seventy
points last week, yet Buffalo a three point favorite. People
are confused. I'm gonna tell you why you shouldn't be,
and we'll do it next here on Fox Welcome back

(02:17:26):
in Fox Sports Radio, Fox Football Sunday. Remember, get those
lineups in. You got minutes, just minutes before the Toy
Story game begins. It's right, Jaguars and Falcons getting ready
to roll early this morning? Can you tell my excitement?
Am I selling it too hard? Jason?

Speaker 1 (02:17:45):
You are? Is it like? Are we a big are
we a big Toy Story fan? Is there like? Is
there is there something to do this?

Speaker 5 (02:17:53):
Like?

Speaker 1 (02:17:53):
Is something you want to tell us?

Speaker 2 (02:17:54):
Well? I, you know, it goes back to what I
was saying with the Taylor Swift thing, because I've heard people,
you know, get off my long guy yelling about this
this week of what you know, what are we doing?
Blah blah blah, like you're trying to give everybody a
big hug, right and figuring out different ways to promote
your sport different angles. Maybe, however, they end up doing

(02:18:15):
this because I saw some of the stop motion stuff
with Zerg and whatever else which is cool. But if
you can get a couple of kids to get kind
of fired up, even if it's in a weird display,
and however, you know they're gonna have the big collisions shown.
That that's the curiosity to me. Trevor Lawrence gets laid out.
How is that done by the toy story characters? Is

(02:18:36):
it the Little Green Guys or whatever? But wherever we
could try to grow and figure out a way to infiltrate,
to get in there and sell, sell, sell and give
it a different look. I'm all about innovation. I'm all about,
you know, trying to find that next next spot.

Speaker 1 (02:18:53):
And so this is it. We actually agree on all
of this, and I will say when it comes to this,
I'm going to teach the world a new phrase that
we could all afford to learn, which is that's not
for me but cool.

Speaker 2 (02:19:07):
Like that's the other part of that, right, you don't
have to watch It's like Kevin Durant, you don't like it.

Speaker 1 (02:19:11):
Don't watch Like there's this element of everything is about growth,
and everything is about trying to find new audiences. I
don't care what we do for a living, whether it's
what you and I are doing right now, or whether
it's anything like. It's about growth and trying to reach
new people, and then when you reach new people, you
hope that you can turn those people into super fans
and whatever you're doing. It's a very simple concept. And frankly,

(02:19:34):
there are a lot of kids out there that may
not want to sit there and watch a football game
with their parents, but they would sit there and watch
a toy story looking game with their parents. Gets it's
the reason that Disney is what Disney is. Like you
go to Disney World and you see the absolute power
of the brand for a reason. Right, So in my mind,
if you can get a kid into football that might
not otherwise be into football, isn't that some point the hope.

(02:19:57):
Like I've said earlier, every I was a kid, every Sunday,
my dad would go get a dozen donuts. We'd sit down,
we'd eat a dozen donuts together, and we watch the Raiders.
That's why I'm a Raiders fan to this day. Do
I not want some kids somewhere else in a modern
time where the way you watch TV and what you
can watch is so different sitting down and watching that
game and eating those donuts with your dad, and that
might not be appealing, but sitting down and watching Toy

(02:20:19):
Story and eating those donuts with your dad might and
that could create another generation of fans, which is good
for the sports that we love. So like, it doesn't
have to be for everybody, it has to be for
its target audience. And I think you're right, it will be.

Speaker 2 (02:20:30):
For them, right, and if you can get some merchandise
flowing out of it, and now, if it works, then
you'd start looking to expand the universe. Maybe you stay
in Andy's room another year and perfect that the storytelling,
the crafting, you find some operational efficiencies, but eventually we
move it out into other things and bring it into
other properties. Maybe we get outside of the whole Disney
World concept and we go back to the nineteen sixty

(02:20:53):
six classic Batman because then with every hit we can
have a Biff Bam pal show up on the screen.

Speaker 1 (02:21:00):
You went Biff first and enough boom, which is really respectable. Man, Like,
I'm all in on going Biff first for that. But
by the way, like Nickelodeon and the Slime Slime games,
like has that already sort of proven proof of console?
That's it, right?

Speaker 2 (02:21:14):
How do you expand?

Speaker 1 (02:21:15):
Yeah, and Frankly, again, I'm not trying to pick on
baseball guy, but I feel like some NFL fans right
now are being baseball guy. I was like, Wow, the
game doesn't need this, h I mean, if it helps
grow the game, then that that's better for everybody. You know,
whatever keeps the game growing, well, that's just it.

Speaker 2 (02:21:30):
Baseball had all its rules this year, they would They
had nine games go over three and a half hours.
You saw attendance was up, people were through on television
a bunch more. It also helped out a bunch of
long stagnant, endormant markets. I'm looking at you, Baltimore, my
friends there in Baltimore. Your team's relevant again, right, and
you weren't turning all attention to the Ravens. We'll get

(02:21:51):
to them in a minute. Before then, the Exorcist comes
out on October sixth. They need someone to go into
that training room again, even though they changed out the trainer.
They know you don't help there.

Speaker 1 (02:22:04):
Are you big on the horror movie thing? Because I
went to see Saw the other night, did yet I was,
and it was you know, it was a good Saw movie.
I don't know that it was particularly scary to me,
but it was a well put together Saw movie. But
the funny thing is the scariest part of the whole
night was the preview for that new exercise. I mean,
there were people screaming in the theater at the preview,
and I was like, oh, God, inject this in my veins.

(02:22:24):
I needed.

Speaker 2 (02:22:25):
Yeah, that's the best when when you can get the
crowd along along and fired up. I went and saw
the movie Bottoms, which starred Marshawn Lynch. Yeah, you know,
it's a high school romp, you know, a little raunchy
at times, but the crowd was into it, screaming at
the screen. Not a horror movie, but I did have
some horror elements to it, and I thought it was

(02:22:45):
a good watch and it helped being in the theater
with people.

Speaker 1 (02:22:50):
Right.

Speaker 2 (02:22:50):
But to the original point, I'm talking about sports and change.
I don't like the ghost runner on second base. Other
people do. I didn't want to outlaw the shift learn
how to hit other people did. The game was flowing
a bit faster, and we actually had the return of
stolen bases this year, Jason, So something positive for those

(02:23:11):
old school baseball fans. While you have those new fangled rules,
all of that and so much more. We'll get back
into the misery that has been the injury bug there
in Baltimore because they've got a big date against Cleveland.
Here we'll talk Miami Buffalo. But first I got to
bring in a man who's ready to see if something's
gonna give in a sea of Raider fans. He'll be
on site. It's our guy, Isaac Loewencron with the update.

Speaker 7 (02:23:33):
Hey, buddy, fired up for the debut of Aidan O'Connell.
No offense to Brian Hoyer, but indeed that'll be coming
up later today. Good morning, fellas, and we'll actually start
with that. But coming up, we're actually going to have
an honest to goodness Taylor Swift Kansas City Chiefs update
that coming up to two mere moments. But indeed, NFL

(02:23:54):
media reporting rookie Aidan O'Connell will get the start at
quarterback for the Raiders today against the Chargers. Jimmy Garoppolo
out in concussion protocol. ESPN reports the Chicago Bears benching
receiver Chase Claypool for today's game against the Denver Broncos.
Just getting ready to kick off right now from veterable
Wembley Stadium in London. It's the Atlanta Falcons at two

(02:24:17):
to one and the one and two Jacksonville Jaguars also
over there. In golf at the Ryder Cup, Europe continues
to lead Team USA twelve to six. Right now in
the Sunday singles phase of competition. Now, are you guys
ready for your Taylor Swift Kansas City Chiefs subst.

Speaker 2 (02:24:41):
Tonight?

Speaker 7 (02:24:42):
The Jets will be hosting the Chiefs on Sunday Night football.
And last night Taylor Swift and Brittany the Yeah, the
wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. We're part of a
group that dined at the Lower Manhattan Italian an eatery
but Tolo's. And here's how it sounded when the group

(02:25:04):
exited the restaurant.

Speaker 2 (02:25:13):
That's my every morning, Jason, Yeah, walk it out, my friend.

Speaker 7 (02:25:18):
Ironically, those cheers were louder than those that the Jets
offense is expected to garner tonight. So a couple of
notes about all this. First of all, the name of
the restaurant, Ballatos. They say no reservations. People will be
seated on a first come, first serve basis, So I
wonder how long the group had to wait for that
table number two. There is actually an NFL connection. The

(02:25:42):
restaurant is located on the same block as the cathedral
where the funeral was held for Vince Lombardi, the same
block in Lower Manhattan. And finally, here's a pop quiz.
Mike and Jason. I'm gonna give you two items on
the menu. I want to I want you guys to
guess the price Atlattos, a caprice salad, brazy caprazy capris,

(02:26:05):
caprazy whatever, buffalo mozzarella, cheese, tomatoes and fresh basil. Guess
how much it costs there at Ballatos, Well, they would
have worked that cheese by hand, Jason, you know, the
artistry of cheesemaking. Yeah, to say, that's what do you think?
And maybe a seventy five dollars.

Speaker 1 (02:26:23):
Half the time I was gonna say, like a forty dollars,
but yeah, I'd say forty.

Speaker 2 (02:26:28):
Twenty eight dollars about reasonable?

Speaker 1 (02:26:31):
All right?

Speaker 7 (02:26:32):
Spaghetti and meatballs a family style, no, just an individual
individual Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:26:41):
Oh man, spaghetti meatballs feels like it's like could be cheap,
but I mean depends what they got, now get in there.

Speaker 2 (02:26:49):
Yeah, I'm thinking a nice ragu I mean looking at
a thirty six dollars entre thirty two dollars.

Speaker 7 (02:26:56):
Oh so okay thirty two and then I went over
my own no surprisingly affordable choice. So that's the latest
in the Taylor Swift Travis Kelcey, Kansas City Chief Universe
back to You've got.

Speaker 2 (02:27:07):
Pretty good image rehabilitation for Brittany Mahomes, getting her a
little bit love hanging out with Taylor Swift. Right, remember
how much hate and derision she's been getting. It's kind
of like Aaron Rodgers in this whole offseason with the Jets.
How do I repair my image?

Speaker 1 (02:27:22):
I also love the of course there thinks is no reservations,
but you know, when you're that level of famous, you've
got somebody that says, hey, Taylor wants to come into
the and then the question is just to they give
him the whole restaurant, you know, Like I mean.

Speaker 2 (02:27:35):
I did years ago my ex and I she was
a student at Stanford and we were celebrating someone's birthday
and we went to a well, a local Italian eatery,
and it just so happened that it was graduation week
and that was when Chelsea Clinton was at Stanford. Secret
Service kept us outside for a good hour and a half.
We eventually did get to meet Sir President and the misses,

(02:27:59):
but yeah, it took a while. They pretty much shut
down the back half of the restaurant.

Speaker 1 (02:28:05):
Yeah, rules or rules for people not named Taylor Swift.
That's just the way that's that's just the way the
world works at this point. But in fairness, even if
she want, like, look, nobody's gonna give any sympathy to Taylor.
I know that. But let's also acknowledge that even if
Taylor wanted to go out and just have a normal dinner,
it's absolutely impossible for her to do that, And you know,
and so they have no choice put to shut down

(02:28:25):
places like that, and they have no choice put to
let her take it over, because otherwise it would be
mayhem inside.

Speaker 2 (02:28:32):
Well, think about the extra security costs and all of
those fun things that have to come with it, right too,
with the crush of people, and you always have to
account for potential bad actors. Thanks so much, Isaac at
Isaac low and Grown where you find him on Twitter,

get after it here a little bit later on today,
Bills favored by three the home date. I heard you
with Andy as I was driving in a little bit
talking about, well, you go to Buffalo here and then

(02:29:14):
they've got to come to Miami when it's ninety nine
degrees at the end of the season. And it's interesting
when we start looking at schedules and playing it out.
But through three weeks trying to determine that we truly
know what any team is, I think is fool's gold.
Like we have to because the show is today. To
quote my friend Arnie Spaniard, who I know is listening

(02:29:35):
high Arnie. But the idea that we've got a full
beat on either of these or any of these teams, really,
I can tell you the Bears are bad, right that
we know functional dysfunctional is that is the function in
hallis Hall. Chase Claypool after a quiet week chirped off
and now he's a healthy scratch. But you look at

(02:29:57):
the Bills that first game against the Jets, big spotlight
nine to eleven game, Aaron Rodgers, all those and Josh
Allen a couple of times looked like he was just
playing street football, going punt check or I'm just gonna
throw it up and see if my guy can go
make a play, and they did so they go down
as interceptions and they all count the same in our
fun and exciting football world. But a crushing loss, or

(02:30:19):
so it seems. And then they bludge in the next
two opponents, who I think we stipulate our bad teams
at least to this point right evaluating where we are today.
Whereas the Dolphins put seventy on Denver, Well, you and
I both had Denver in our metal stand of ineptitude
again clean for Sunday Morning radio. They beat up on
the Chargers, who we've seen time and again Randon Staley's

(02:30:42):
a defensive guy. They don't play defense. And then you
get the middle game against New England. They score twenty four.
It becomes a twenty four to seventeen game. Folks can
argue about whether it was ever quote competitive, but through
this point we're crowning the Dolphins, you know, to his
numbers are exactly the same as they were a year
ago this time exactly the same almost. I think it's

(02:31:05):
yard fer yard, touchdown for touchdown everything, and yet it
feels so much different that everybody wants to crown Mike
McDaniel the next genius, that we're going over the top
to celebrate them after bludgeoning the hapless Denver Broncos. Now
that does that mean I think Buffalo goes in and
buries them at home. No, but to think, as I've

(02:31:27):
heard some over the course of the week and in
my timeline on Ax telling me all that you know,
this is the juggernaut that's going to be unstoppable. I say, well,
not so fast. It's still a road game, still some familiarity,
and last I saw they still play some decent football
in Buffalo too.

Speaker 1 (02:31:44):
I mean, the Bills are my preseason Super Bowl pick,
which is lazy, but I felt good about it.

Speaker 2 (02:31:49):
And if that's a pick, that's the pick. I overthink things. Jason,
that's not that's not your fault.

Speaker 1 (02:31:55):
Well, I think you know part of this though, because
you're right when you're three games into the season and
you know a little bit, And one of the burdens
of the beast of what we all do in a
twenty four hour news cycle is we don't have time
to figure out what it really means long term, so
you just sort of have to analyze as you go.
We've gotten some really good and some questionable from Buffalo,
but it's a very simple questionable, like will Josh Allen

(02:32:17):
take care of the football? Like that seems to be
the number one question when you take on the Miami Dolphins,
who I think you make a very good point that
for all the yards they put up and for all
the points that they put up the first two games,
I mean that Chargers game Week one could have gone
either direction, frankly, and then they get the week to
win over the Patriots, who I think are just awful, frankly,

(02:32:38):
And so now what do I really have at this
point from Miami? This becomes one of those landmark prove
it games, right, so we'll learn so much about both sides.
I think it's premature to sit here and talk about
the demise of the Buffalo Bills. Frankly, if you take
last year, remember last year Josh Allen threw too many interceptions,
They battled some injury issues, they had a catshphe on
the field, and they still won thirteen games. Part of

(02:33:00):
the reason that I had a problem with this conversation
that the Jets were going to win the AFC East
was my answer was, find me the extra three or
four losses. Buffalo is suddenly gonna take this year. Even
though they've underperformed in the playoffs, they haven't underperformed in
the regular season. They've been great in the regular season.
So let's have the playoff conversation when we get there.
So now to your point, Tua is doing exactly what

(02:33:20):
he did last year, which is why he was part
of the MVP conversation before he got hurt last year.
And now we get a real, actual test for two
teams that have to show a lot like the Bills
have the opportunity at home to show hey, Week one
was just a lot of different emotions with a rusty
football team that didn't play a lot in the preseason
that needed to iron some things out, this is who
we are. The Dolphins have the opportunity to come in

(02:33:42):
and show, hey, we can do this on anybody. If
the Dolphins go in and put up thirty five or
forty points on the Bills, then the rest of the
NFL's got a crisis on their hands because the Dolphins
shouldn't be able to run up that many points every week,
even against the quality opponent. I really think what makes
this game the most interesting is that it is a
prove it game for both team in whatever narrative we want.

Speaker 2 (02:34:01):
Yeah, we get eight Chan right, because we've got to
change how we pronounce his name. The thing I've liked
most through the three weeks is some reliance on the
run game, right. They all the talk of Dalvin Cook
should have come in. Well, Dalvin Cook looks washed and
part of that is the Jets offensive lines no good.
And let's face it, with Zach Wilson there, when they

(02:34:22):
do actually try to run the ball, I mean, you're
already stuffing the box because he's not throwing the ball
more than four yards down the field, but relying on Mostert,
who I liked when he was in San Francisco, part
of a machine there, but goes down and between him
and eight Chan. If they can keep that rolling, then
then I'm intrigued. I'm curious to see what kind of
lift they get with DeMar Hamlin coming back because I

(02:34:43):
really do think we underestimate what kind of effect that
had to the end of their season, hitting the playoffs
last year. How do you rally to come back and play?

Speaker 1 (02:34:53):
Yeah, And I think that's the human element that we
forget so often with football teams like this, Just the
human element of of tragedy is hard to shake off.
So you know, I think the Bills can show that
they're they're legit today in a big, big way, and
tomorrow morning the conversation is going to be about the
winner of this game.

Speaker 2 (02:35:11):

(02:35:54):
There you go, some some Phil Vassar bringing in owing
to some of those country music roots for you there, Jay.

Speaker 1 (02:36:01):
Phil great human being, one of my favorite people ever
toured with, and I was still a close friend to
this day. So yeah, absolutely. My first my first ever
real road gig where somebody paid me to play, was
with Phil and he was like a mentor and like
brother and a close friend. So lucky to spend a
few years and play on some of his records.

Speaker 2 (02:36:19):
So here you go.

Speaker 1 (02:36:19):
Phil's a great too.

Speaker 2 (02:36:20):

(02:36:42):
I love the slinky dog first down marker on this
Disney Plus Toy story game except every Guy's skip leg day, Jason.

Speaker 1 (02:36:51):
Yeah, they all look too like the animators decided to
make them all particularly short. But I love all of
the graphics. I'm telling you, like you knew, I was
a little like, Yeah, I don't know. I can't get
enough of this. And by the way, why is it
I can see the field better on this broadcast when
it comes to who's open downfield? Like, it's amazing. The
angle they're using on this thing is great. So gee
the almost twenty two early on. Yeah, look it comes

(02:37:12):
down to this. Watch two minutes of it and if
you don't like it, turn it off and go find
someone to give you a.

Speaker 2 (02:37:18):
Hug because clearly you hate fun. All right, A couple
more games to get to on the slate. Pittsburgh and
Houston is interesting to me. Houston with no offensive line,
but CJ. Stroud has been fantastic. Tank Dell Nathaniel Dell.
If you're collecting rookie guards, as he's still tagged on
most of them. Forty two is the total TJ. Watt

(02:37:41):
going against that offensive line should be fun.

Speaker 1 (02:37:44):
Yeah, absolutely, and you know, I think two things can
be true at once. Right, the Texans can be playing
much better than any of us expected. We can all
be really happy with where they are as an organization
and where things are moving, and also we can look
at it and say it's still a little bit of
a work in progress. So, you know, well, frankly, I
don't believe in the Steelers offense at all. I think
the Steelers offense barely scored enough to get by against

(02:38:06):
a particularly bad, sorry to say it out loud, Raiders
defense was able to be gashed. I think the Raiders
aren't a particularly good team. We all know that. So
I don't know how much I believe in the Steelers offensively,
But I believe in the Texans growth wise and where
they're headed in this season. So I think I think
every week is a little bit a step forward for
growth and hope for Texans fans.

Speaker 2 (02:38:26):
As we always quote Calipari on our evening show, Smith
and I succeed and proceed. Stock points don't matter sometimes
in college football you still need to impress folks that
are voting beyond that, just get the victory and move
on all right, Time for the chicken and beer game
of the day, I E. Where am I getting my wings?
Getting some beer and sitting down for three plus hours

(02:38:48):
and investing my life today?

Speaker 1 (02:38:49):
Jason, Well, look, if you live in Connecticut, the only
place to get wings is J tims J Timothy's. They've
won Food TV's Best Wings in the Country multiple times
and they are the best wings I've ever had, including
everywhere in Buffalo. So the wings always come from J. Tims.
So there's no doubt about that. But it's gonna be
diet rupier because you know, I don't like to get
two tanks while I'm watching. And the game of the
day is obviously aid and O'Connell right, like we can

(02:39:11):
all agree, AOC playing for the Raiders gets Chargers.

Speaker 2 (02:39:14):
The NY said, no, it's you said AOC. Half our
audience just got really mad at you.

Speaker 1 (02:39:19):
Yeah, I should point out we need to work on
the nickname a little bit. AOC is the nickname of
Aidan O'Connell on X. I don't know why, but yes,
just pointing out I'm talking about the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (02:39:29):
There you go. I'm going on in New England, Dallas.
I want to see what Dallas is. After getting punched
in the mouth, a week ago, and I still keep
trying to apologize for Bill Belichick the coach and trying
to not hold the sins of Bill Belichick the GM
against him. He's Jason Fitz. Find him on Exit Jason Fitz,
Me and Swollen Dome count down to kickoff next here
